  • Oldiesmann: Ok... Should be better now. I've removed the word filter for "asses" (which is what it was suppsoed to match, not every word with "ass" in it) and removed the login form from that page as well :)
  • Oldiesmann: It's not supposed to match partial words that way, but I'll disable that since it's causing problems. I'll look into removing the login boxes as well so they just have to click login.

  • brianc: it is easy to defeat word filters just double space- also "ass" is a legitimate animal- the correct spelling is "arse"
  • Pooch1: Oldiesmann, any word with 'ass' in the spelling is automatically considered cursing :  grass, glass, assessment,  - you get the drift.  No big deal.  Bigger problem is that people try to fill in the blanks to access the chat room and are denied entry.  Clicking on "Log In" is the way to enter.  Could the unnecessary and futile steps be removed?

  • delphineaz: Oldiesmann, I think the only problem with the chatroom is that some people cannot get into it.  As for language usages that is inappropriate I want the filter to be there.
    January 26, 2012, 06:54:58 PM
  • Oldiesmann: What problems are we having with the chatroom? The word filter in there is pretty much the default options (whatever the developers configured), but I'll be glad to adjust it as needed or even turn it off if it's causing too much trouble

  • bigdaddi: SOGIPO IS BACK IN THE CHATROOM AND WOULD LIKE TO MEET SOME MORE PEOPLE

  • brianc: word filters are absurd they ban words shakespeare used!!!I never get rouble getting into this room but I do in seniorsiteSS2 which is puzzling indeed

  • Pooch1: I know of no one who has considered the S&F staff at fault for the strange things that happen in the chat room.  It is my understanding that the chat service is a seperate entity provided for the pleasure of those who enjoy chatting and not an integral part of the S&F web site.  Perhaps a clarification might be provided?
    January 24, 2012, 06:52:52 AM
  • MizPeg: Might it be the profanity filter has a virus? or some such? Stranger things have happened in the cyber world.
    January 23, 2012, 08:05:52 PM
  • MizPeg: it really has caused a lot of the demise of Senior chat. This inability to get into the chat room. Maybe s&f's could give lessons to the business concerns that have to fight off hacking attempts. But, seriously, chat kind of lost it's luster, when the chat room was embedded with a profanity filter. The words that weren't allowed were sometimes quite hilarious, and makes the staff, here, look a bit foolish. Thanx for letting me "sound off".

  • delphineaz: So sorry you cannot get in.  My best advice is to send Pat Scott an email.  She has helped all of us.
    January 22, 2012, 05:21:36 PM
  • alpiner1: No one in chat in the evening since the time was changed to an earlier time.
    January 22, 2012, 05:00:54 PM
  • soultwin: Hella, once you're logged into the site, there's no need to enter username, etc.  Just click on the "Login" at the very top of the page.
    January 22, 2012, 04:13:17 PM
  • Hella: Hi all, I've been trying to log into the chatroom, but it won't let me, even though I'm logged into this site. I am told my usename is incorrect. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
