Chia, if you go to the top of your Firefox page and right click your mouse, you will see a small popup showing different menu bar options.Left click on Menubar which is three down on the list and you will see across the top left, File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools and Help. From there you will be able to follow Rammel's instructions. This Menu Bar is directly across from those three black lines for settings.

Equifax has disclosed that an additional 2.4 million people were impacted by a massive cybersecurity breach last year, bringing the total to about 148 million people.

The credit reporting agency says the new consumers were identified during forensic examination of the breach. They were previously unidentified, the company says, because their Social Security numbers were not stolen.

Their names and some of their driver's license information was taken, however. According to the company, "in the vast majority of cases, it did not include consumers' home addresses, or their respective driver's license states, dates of issuance, or expiration dates."

Equifax says it will directly notify these 2.4 million people "and will offer identity theft protection and credit file monitoring services at no cost to them."

The company has struggled to rebuild public trust after the revelation of the breach and what is widely perceived as a bungled response.

I have a sudden issue with the size of the youtube videos that I hope someone can help with. This afternoon in Chrome, I must have clicked the wrong place because all the screens are now postage size and will not work. I Googled and evidently, you click on View to change the size. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the "view" to change it...

jackwv

Pat,  I have Explorer and Google.  Went to youtube and had the bar with File Edit View etc.  I went to view,to the bottom of the popup and cllcked full screen.  Not much of a difference but noticed the bar with File Edit View dissapeared.  I then found by clicking the restore box  upper right, that the view again appeared on the upper left.  Might be worth a try, have no other suggestion.

angelface555

Thanks, Jack, I had wondered if I somehow had clicked mobile to find such a small postage stamp view and couldn't get a video to work. I ended up deleting that browser and staying with the Opera browser where all is well.

I have Comcast and suppose to have a certain speed. Sure doesn't do at the speed they say.  I use to know the Sight where you could check the speed that you computer was downloading. Sure can't remember it. Does anyone? Even my WiFi seems slower on the IPad.

JeanneP   here is Xfiniti's speed test site.  http://speedtest.xfinity.com/

They recently replaced my Wifi and it made a big diff, you might check and see if yours is due for replacement, no charge.

jackwv

Did not know how long it would take to resize, so posted the prev.   Here is the results of the speed text with the new wifi modem.

This is what I got with Jack's site.  Three different sites gave three very different readings.

I'm more concerned with privacy but I tested and had these figures. Will someone be able to interpret them for me?

Apparently I have more speed then needed, but in a package from Xfinity.   I tripped around Google for info and found a decent article worth reading.

  https://www.tomsguide.com/us/internet-speed-what-you-need,news-24289.html

RAMMEL

Upload and download speeds are probably clear.  Latency, in broad terms, are the delays that things have in doing their task. Like the time it takes for a drive to seek and return the data it was looking for. I wouldn't put too much thought into the speeds indicated, especially if you're happy with the performance you are seeing.  As I said, I made three speed tests from different places and got three VERY different results.

angelface555

Jack, that article was very informative. I do not carry too much on my computer, preferring to keep the bulk of it on external drives, but I do have multiple connecting devices. Thank you for posting it. And Rick, I appreciate your explanation of terms and latency. I too found varying results among tests.

Rick, one article I read and have decided to practice is a Data Detox Kit. As I mentioned previously, my main focus is security and privacy after being burned in 2003.

https://blog.mozilla.org/internetcitizen/2017/11/08/data-detox/?utm_source=desktop-snippet&utm_medium=snippet&utm_campaign=f100_week9_datadetox&utm_term=7914&utm_content=rel&sample_rate=0.001&snippet_name=7914

"Mozilla is a proud partner of Tactical Tech, whose Data Detox will help you remove any toxic data build up. It’s an 8-day cleanse, and with just a small daily time commitment, you finish feeling refreshed and rejuvenated online and IRL.
Look for signs through a Data Detox

Every day, we leave behind information about ourselves in the digital world: when we were at our favorite coffee shop, where we buy clothes, which one of our friends we spend the most time chatting with. Almost nothing goes unnoticed if we’re not careful.

To some public and private players, we are just another data set, but who does this data belong to and what is it being used for? There’s little time to consider this question every time we click, like and share.

The Data Detox helps you look for signs that you might not be leading a healthy, balanced digital lifestyle. It gives you practical advice so you can discover what you share, when you reveal it and to whom, and what it might mean for your life."

jackwv

Pat thanks for that post.  I also read a good description of the   Data Detox  here -

http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20171110-the-8-day-guide-to-a-better-digital-life

Had to laugh that with their comments on Facebook, the article at the end mentions liking them on facebook and following on twitter.

Afraid I must leave this to you, the pro.   Know it is not enough but I have really limited Facebook and do little surfing.

Windows defender picked up a trojan the other day and was removed. This was the first in over 4 months. I plugged in the external drive and ran a full scan, that took overnight to run.  Nothing noted on the scan.

Know I would be shocked to know just how much info is out there.

Reminded me of several years ago in the discussions a woman gave her email address,  it was her name.  I emailed suggesting she try another one.  Her name and address was on the internet and her home could be located.  She sent me a
message that  she was not worried, she lived out of town and they would not be able to find her.  10 minutes later I sent her a close up of her home, from google maps.

angelface555

Thanks, Jack! While not always helpful, I do use a VPN and private browsing through my antivirus. Sometime back I grew disenchanted with Facebook and deleted my account after a good scrubbing. Then I found that so many people, places, and classes I take have FB pages, so I signed on to a new account. However, I don't use notifications and follow strict privacy and security protocols. I don't post but go there to access others who do.

I'm BFF with Google, and that is what I'm working on now. About every couple of months I collect and download my Gmail, and other Google accounts to my external drive and then delete that info online, leaving the headings. I suppose as it stands, it's the best for now.

so_P_bubble

Is there a way to save on the computer drive mails from Gmail account?  I have save under specific labels quite a few over the years and I would like to archive that  on a external if possible and in batch of course.

angelface555

#1188
Of course, that was what I was collecting and saving to my external.

First, choose which products to include

Visit the Download your data page. You might have to sign in to your Google Account.
Choose which Google products to include in your download. To see more details and options for a product, select the Down arrow .
    Select Next.
    Choose your archive's "File type."

Your Google download page;

https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout?pli=1

I ask that Google send me an email when the backup's downloads are ready. The requested download's backups, usually in three parts, takes nominally about three to four hours.  I then download it to my external drive and to Dropbox still in its compressed form. After it is saved offline, I then delete it from my online Gmail account. I also bookmark the download instructions to my Gmail bookmark.

My Comcast  Got me back up on my Internet and Wifi  over the line but the TV is not getting anything. (Service coming out tomorrow.) It seems to be giving trouble since they came out to change things so could get High Def on it.
Jack . now they did give me a new Modem couple months back. Also A new box to go on the TV.  Today when they internet and Ipad not connecting then over the phone they set the modem again.
I also ran both those speed test. Comcast first show download at 143mbps 6.07 Upload. then went to Up 70.11 and down 6.32mbps
Speakeasy net was 70.9 down and 5.9 up.  All Greek to me.
Will see when comes tomorrow.
JeanneP

so_P_bubble

Thanks Angel. I am trying it.

jackwv

JeanneP the good news is you have them coming to service.  With the new wifi and prior to that a box for the tv they claim easy self install.  I fought both and had my son come in to do.  All is now working fine and I do like the hi fi.   You might ask the installer to take a minute, he can do a setting where if you pick any low channel and it has a hi def channel it will automatically give you the hi def.

JeanneP

Jack. I live close to their office here and so just March over if can't be done on phone. Now I don't have the full package on tv. Just have about 35 channels no sport channels or movie. Always negotiations on price when over. Will add a little more on for me .dont need them. Did drop price again for next year. By $11 I just tell them I have a great antana on top of roof still that would gave me all i need  if the over charge me. And can get WiFi in for $15 as I have a iPad for Internet. Been with them for years so they are use to me .
JeanneP

JeanneP

Well Comcast come and gone again. It was the box that was burned out on the TV. Just had it 2 months. He said it was reconditioned one they gave me. Now he put on a brand new one and back working again. Only thing is it doesn't work with your control hand thing so I left a new one but it doesn't do the turn on and off the same way. But said I can still use this old one if prefer. (I do). The one I had in the bedroom he changed saying it was outdated long time ago. So now gave a new one for it.
I checked my speeds with him and he says that is right for the Package I have for Internet. Speed changes for which you pay for. When I first turned it on and it shows faster speed and then changed to slower is because the Server is up in Chicago not close to us. I am getting to know less and less about Technology.  Like all things I guess. "You get what you pay for"
JeanneP

jackwv

Jeanne, yes it is all about $.   In my area with an antenna I would get 3 stations.  I seldom watch tv except for sports and need the expanded package, and pay more than I like, but no choice.  Were it not for the sports I might manage just with the wifi and computer.   Tonight I watched hockey on the tv and used the pad to pick up basketball.   Can even watch everything on my iPhone.     Wonderful what you can do if you throw a stack of money at them every month.

so_P_bubble

Angel!!!!  I did, and received from Gmail BUT... how do you read MBOX files???

angelface555

You don't Bubble! Those are for storage in your cloud, external or Dropbox. Think of it as compressed files which they are in that format. I Googled you some info on just what they are and some stand-alone viewers.

I posted this in the Win-7 area but am re-posting it here because I don't know if anyone still visits that discussion.

I don't use my laptop with Win-7 much but did turn it on tonight.  I went to check for Updates and noticed it doesn't seem to be functioning right (or at all).

Is anyone else with Win-7 having this problem?

Found this interesting "comment".

Rick, I had not used my W-7 computer for some time and when I did try to use it, I could not get online.  My nephew, who lives with me, got it going now so I try to use it occasionally.
