The fastest way to reach customer service, according to Techlicious.

https://www.techlicious.com/tip/how-to-reach-live-customer-service-stop-waiting-on-hold/?utm_source=Techlicious+List&utm_campaign=e823a63871-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_07_31&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_5ee95b0b14-e823a63871-189582833

"Certain situations require the help of a human customer service agent. But these days, companies often don't make it easy to find the customer service number much less reach a live person. Even when you get through to the correct line you can end up waiting on hold forever.

That's where GetHuman and ContactHelp come to the rescue. Both sites provide contact phone numbers, call center hours, instructions on how to reach a live human and a listing of alternate means of getting in touch with companies. Because if there is a long wait time, you may be able to resolve your issue more quickly by messaging with a customer service agent using Facebook or Twitter.

Where GetHuman shines is with its free "Skip Waiting on Hold" service. Enter your phone number and GetHuman will call back with a live customer service agent on the line. If the call center is closed, you can receive a reminder when it opens. In addition, you can view the best time to call and the current and average wait times.

Not sure of what to say to get your problem resolved quickly? Submit your problem to get relevant tips on handling the issue and follow the progress of others who have submitted their problems. Want to know your chances of a satisfactory resolution? You'll also find customer ratings of the quality of communication and the quality of the help."

On my W7 Desktop and using the Internet ,every time I go to a new site. Like clicking on S and F and other. A notice comes up on tool bar say "another web page slowing me down." I don't have another window open. say to clik on close down on Firefox and open another page. it changes fast but still can't figure why it keeps doing that.
Now when I go go close down on Desktop. where can you clik to see if any still running? Do you go to task bar at bottom and clik on Task Mgr.?
JeanneP

Keep using a good antivirus and a good malware app and no they are not the same.

The Russian hackers stole the money, passwords, files, etc in two strikes within a three day period. What's worse is the bank's insurance. National Bank is looking at a maximum reimbursement of $25,000 after paying its deductible.

Anyone got a good site for local weather?  Been using ACCU but lately there is blaring music if I stay on longer than 30 seconds.  My neighbors are not liking that.

jackwv

Joan I have used Accuweather for several years.  Do get irritated some of he adds .    No problem with sound.   Wonder if you are using an app.   I view on the computer and keep a link to their web site as a favorite.    Check the link and see if you have the same problem.  Just put in your city and if it works save as a favorite.  If you have the app there may be some settings.

Jack, have used ACCU for years.  Not an app.   Have no apps on my phone.

Rick, thanks will try that.

wjoan

Rick, that worked.  Thanks.  They even have the Humidity, could not find that on ACCU.

Don, lots to absorb, and most over my head.   I will hang in there with Windows 10 running IE, do not like Edge.   Just hope they make necessary changes I can deal with.

MaryTX

Jack, I always used IE but several years ago someone told be about Firefox and I used it for years.  When our desktop computer crashed last January with that big Microsoft update, they had to wipe it clean and put the new Firefox Quantum on it.  I don't like it at all. I don't know anything about Chrome.

I play Pogo games occasionally and they quit using Java.  Some of the old games I enjoyed only are Java.  Someone mentioned a browser called "Pale Moon".  I downloaded it and just use it for those certain Java games and it works well.

Edge has too many vulnerabilities and security concerns that Microsoft doesn't address. Last spring there was a writeup across the board in tech sites about Microsoft being aware of vulnerability for three months before taking action. There were numerous warnings and no actions taken during those three months and it wasn't until the inaction became a news story that Microsoft blocked the back door.

I liked both Opera and Fox browsers, but Chrome, even with its faults, simply offers more to the user than other browsers.

MarsGal

I just took a look at the Firefox Quantum. No, thanks. It looks like they've gone the way of Chrome and the others that use those big "button" boxes on their homepage for frequently used/favorite sites. Chromium does the same thing, and I get a little annoyed that there these boxes polluting the nice background photo in the background. Even though I have all of them turned off, there are still those "holes" in the picture. I can't seem to get rid of them.  I like a nice clean homepage with nothing on it except the search box. I handle my top favorites on the menu bar at the top, small and out of the way.

What I like about Chromium is how fast it is because it isn't loaded down with a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, Avast on my Windows 10 machine refuses to let me download and install it claiming it might be a harmful file. I even sent back to Avast for it to interrogate the file. I came back saying it was okay, but the dad-burned program still would not let me install it, giving me the same message each time.

I quit using my favorite word game, Bookworm, not too long ago. The program uses Adobe Flash which is, like Java, full of vulnerabilities, or so I heard. Wasn't Adobe going to drop Flash?   Anyhow, Avast flagged it and quarantined it. I thought I had uninstalled it, but it showed up again in July. I must have gave the go ahead to use it somewhere last month. Since then, I have only had one page that I visited that requested me to install it, which I refused.

angelface555

I haven't used Chromium because it won't allow some of my main apps such as my password manager and my VPN. Also after Microsoft's last update, Chrome has been asking me to delete my antivirus program saying it causes issues with Chrome. So far I just delete the warnings and go on as usual.

I'm not totally happy with Chrome but it has the features I use most. My homepage is set to Google search's homepage with no problems. I really liked Opera, but it doesn't allow the apps/programs I use daily.

People just don't think which is why each year we lose billions in identity theft and viruses when we don't have to!

I'm wondering if I need my desktop computer..anymore....can do about same things on IPad and phone...?...to many play things...my old vista doesn't get updates anymore..so guess virus could get in easy....CC

jane

Darlene...maybe try to get along without the computer for a bit.  See if there are things that are just too hard to do on the phone or ipad.  That should help you decide if you need to update.

There are things I can't do easily on my Ipad and I don't use my phone for many internet things...except the GPS....so I need my laptop.

I apologize for always asking computer questions...I do try google first..but doesn't always explain it simple enough for me....I created a new gmail acc for my email.....I notice when I go to my email...there's posts from Facebook....I really don't want that...how can I prevent this...thx CC

MaryTX

Darlene, the same thing has been happenening on Yahoo.  My daughter said something has changed on my Facebook account to do it.  I seldom get on Facebook so I don't recall changing anything.  She said when she has a chance, she'll check it out.

Most of the posts are family or close friends so it isn't a big deal but annoying nonetheless.

I havn't yet gone into my Gmail Acct. to see what the new one is doing. I thought I did read that you will be able to get the Facebook posting with you name showing. These will show up in you GMail incoming.  I don't want that either as I just go into FB to see and read what family doing. I don't need to get any other way than when I go into FB Acct. They all seem to be trying to outdo each other now.
