Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

We had a Mini Bash set up.  There were going to be at least a dozen or so of us at Norm & Dot's in Florida.  I think it was 2004 or 2005.  We had our reservations on the auto train and were gung ho, with every day planned from Orlando to Key West.  I think it was about a two week thing, from several days with one of Bob's dearest friends to Norm & assorted seniors (the Howes, KateMate, Miss Shirley, etc), to Bob's brother in Key West: every day was all mapped out.  Then, at nearly the last minute, the doctors found a lump in his throat and there was emergency surgery at Hopkins in Baltimore, and all was canceled.  What with one thing and another, we never got to remake that plan, and we really felt sadly wistful about what we'd missed out on.  Bob's dear friend passed suddenly a few months after our Florida trip crashed.  Bob died in 2006, and now his brother and Norm are gone.  I often remember the Bash that was never was, and how much fun it was to have been.

I have 7 or 8 pictures from the Tucson Bash but will need someone to post them for me.
How many can I send in one e-mail and to whom, pleasel?

Jeanne Lee

Callie, you can always send photos to me for posting, and I'm sure Bubble will also be glad to help.  I don't know of any limit on how many you can send at one time, it really depends on the file size and what the mail program kb limit is. It might be a good idea to send only 3 or 4 at a time at least for now.

Spread the goodies around, Callie.  I sent like 4 to JeanneLee and 4 to Bubble.  At a time, that is to say.  Four per day.  Bless them both forever and ever!  And I'm dying to see your photos!

I remember Maxine as being one of this world's all time gracious ladies.  And darling Judy McKenna would win a trophy for sweetness.  Judy was a friend of Our Pat's, and also a Canadian.

CallieOK

Thanks for the replies.   May I use the e-mail addresses in your profile?

I also have some pictures of the "Okie Lunch Bunch" meeting with SeniorNetters traveling through OKC.
With I-35, I-40 and I-44 all converging here,  our motto was "tell us when and how you'll be coming though and we'll find a place to eat on your route".

Send away Callie!  The emails are there to use.

Speaking of prior Bash events....Dawn Tucek and I organized the "April in Tucson" Bash in 2002.  It was great fun, with a really good attendance. Think everyone also enjoyed the trip to Nogales, Mexico and visiting San Xavier Mission.

Oh, how I love to visit this site. I never attended a "bash", but enjoyed them all the same. You are a marvelous group of women, and I love seeing you here.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JUNEDRABEK...
...so agree, this room has a real good feel factor about it, of what friendships were, and what friendships still are....

Lindancer

June and Jackie, I so agree with you, I enjoy coming in here and see all the wonderful photos and stories.  Sounds like you all had so much fun at your get to gethers.

I'm really enjoying all the memories!

Toni Lee Neikens, Gladys Berry, Anne and Gordon Graham

They really are enjoying it; look at those smiles!

Gladys adored dancing, while Anne & Gordon were almost professionals.  The Grahams were from South Carolina.

And a good time was obviously  had by all! I love to come here and see all the photos and faces from not too long ago!

Denver

So fun to see these pictures.....hard to believe so many of our friends are gone.  The bashes were all so much fun.  Lovely memories.

It was amazing to watch Gladys dance with a partner. I believe at one time she taught ballroom type dancing.

Beverly, I know many on the bus, but not all. Do you or anyone else, have all of the names?

so_P_bubble

Bev, wasn't there on that same bus someone trying a "pole dance"?  I seem to remember a photo of that...

Vanilla-Jackie

This must be our famous " cyber bus " everyone keeps telling me about, the bus that collects members from all corners of the globe...... ;)

MaryPage

No, I think Pat offered a picture of the "cyber" bus earlier.  It was a school bus, converted for our use.  Chickens.  Apparently Pat was taking the chickens to Pennsylvania to make sure we had fresh eggs.  The bus flew.

The bus above was actually a real life non-airborne vehicle right there in Williamsport.  I see Jenny (DenverDarling) and her Bob.  I see Rae and Pat (not driving, you see), and I think Ginger back there in the back, and Toni Lee up in front on the right side.  And the pretty young blond in the back, wasn't that Pat Booten's (Boots) daughter who accompanied her mother to Pennsylvania?

I am also really enjoying seeing the pictures and recalling names.  I had the privilege of being one of the first 7 volunteer hosts when the discussion groups were started online.  I was working mainly in the area of the Books and Literature with Ginny Anderson and did a lot of the background work, including the book exchange that folks seemed to enjoy.  I joined about 6 months after they opened the discussions on the WWW and I also was able to attend the last nationwide conference SeniorNet held.  While I met a lot of folks who attended the Atlanta Bash in 1998 I find some of my memories have faded.  I also became very involved in our local SeniorNet Learning Center, which is no longer affiliated with SeniorNet and hasn't been for quite a few years. The convention was primarily aimed at and most of the attendees were from the Learning Centers so the seven discussion board hosts who attended were our own little group and it was a great time.  I am so thankful to Pat Scott Halbach for starting these discussions so many of us could stay in touch.  I certainly miss many of the folks who are no longer with us either by choice or have passed away.

Beverly

Angelface - Standing in the back of the bus is Lisa Booten, Pat Booten, and myself. Seated left are Rae Inskeep, John deBoer (from New Zealand) Pat Scott, and Jenny and Bob Hardin. On the right, the name of the lady seated in back escapes me, then Paul and Margret (from South Africa) and Toni Lee Neikens.

Bubble - Yes, there were rumors of someone doing a pole dance!  ;)

angelface555

Thanks, Beverly, MaryPage & all! I've noted down all the names.
