Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

2024-05-02, 00:07:54
Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

ROBBY IADELUCA and MARYPAGE

Robby lived in the same small town in VA that my son and dil do.  R. used to write a column for the local newspaper there and I would read it on occasion when we visited the kids.  He was such a multi-talented man and so interesting to read....and a lot of fun.  Great sense of humor and he loved to dance!

I had forgotten that the Knitting and Crocheting forums were separate, Pat.  When I took over from Jeryn I was given permission to rename the group and include everyone interested in those kind of handcrafts.  I named it "Needles, Hooks and Shuttles" (Jeryn and I were the only weavers, I think) and it was a very busy place.....and fun with so many interesting people.  I remember you telling us about the Irish women standing chatting at the gate in front of their cottages and knitting all the while that they were talking.  Also, remember Pat Westerdale (I think) showing us pictures of the beautiful Aran sweaters that she made for her three sons.  And hearing later that one of her sons threw his in the washer with, of course, the disastrous results that came from that!  I kept all of those pictures of their beautiful crafts that people sent to me for a long time after Sr.Net disappeared but, unfortunately, lost them all when I had a major computer crash.

Thank you so much, Bubble and Jeanne Lee.

The Scots were sisters Janette McGlynn, who we knew on SeniorNet as JINTY (she lived in England at this time) and Jean Campbell, who we knew as SCOTTYBOWLER (and she actually still lived in Scotland).

This was what we called a "Mini-Bash" back then.  Just a luncheon meeting in
Fredericksburg, Virginia arranged  by ANNAFAIR, remember her?  Going around
the table there is MaryPage, Jean Lockwood, AnnaFair and Robby Iadeluca.  We
all lived in Virginia at that time.  A guy named Richard Camran, who we knew
on SeniorNet as DICK, was with us and I believe took this picture.

These are all so great and bringing back so many memories! Does anyone remember the woman who was a deep sea diver for a time and posted wonderful photos?

Denver

What a wonderful walk down memory lane.....so many wonderful people we have met over the years.  Some in person and some only on the net.  Either way, I feel like I have known them all for years.

Thank you so much Pat for this nice folder.

Referring once more to starting dates for SN - the original SeniorNet was a part of AOL only and that's the one that started in early 1990.  The site went independent and on the internet in 1995 or 1996, and that's when Pat and I first traded shoes.   ;D

June Drabek

Oh, how I thank you for this site. I have enjoyed every single page so very much. I first Joined Sr. Net in 1997. Was never able to attend a "Bash", but sure enjoying the sharing of those that did. I'm still wondering about one where I think some of you got caught in an elevator ??????  Bunnie was my heroine from the day I joined, and Pat Scott was such an inspiration as she took care of her failing husband Jack, and her dog, that accompanied her as she traveled in the snow visiting her husband. I think her dogs name was Robbie ? I recall a picure of the dog sitting in the front seat with her, and he has his paw laying on her hand as she drove. Beautiful memory. And Bunnie, another of our little heroines...so many wonderful, heart warming, tearful memories. Thank you Thank you. I am book marking this page for sure.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

MaryPage

Ah, yes, June!  The famous elevator episode.  That was in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in October 2001.  I was lucky in that I had a room in an addition to the back of the hotel, so I did not have to use the elevators except to get up to the hospitality suite.  Most of the (now old and faded) photographs Jeanne Lee and Bubble have posted for me are from that Bash.

carole

We had a mini bash in the North Island of New Zealand on two occasions. I do have a photo of Jerry that I played about with, will post when I get to my PC, on iPad at present.
I recently met up with Jakki in Hamilton, NZ., was very lovely to meet her again, alas no photo.

Have lost touch with Caroline from Auckland, a frequent poster on the old site.

Goodness! I had forgotten about the writers group. Headed by Malryn. Those were the days hey?

so_P_bubble

It would be great fun to revive that writing discussion.  But where are the writers?
I wonder what happened to Dr Haseltine.  He was the last posting  in writing here, ages ago :(

angelface555

I had forgotten about Malryn, a favorite of mine. Also, Carolyn posts only on Facebook. She has a new dog and the girls are young adults now. Edge from Photography is also primarily on Facebook as are many old Seniors and Friends and Seniornetters.

I guess no one remembers the older woman who did many photo posts  from her deep sea diving vacations? She was a friend of Den's, who was Joan Grimes's brother.

Jeanne Lee

Angel, it was Janet Damon who took those beautiful deep sea pictures.  She is still a regular poster on Christian Photographers, although she hasn't brought any photos for quite some time.

Oh, I have a photo of Edge somewhere... I'll have to look it up and post.

angelface555

Thank you so much for answering that Jeanne Lee! The minute you said her name I remembered! Now I wonder why else it seems familiar?

Lindancer

JeanneLee, thanks so much for starting this forum, I am enjoying it so much.  As i said before I as ask to do the weather forum.  I use to like Annies attic and something about a porch was an other forum I liked.  Old age has really caught up with me, as I cannot think of the name I was useing, I do not think it was deAngel.

Pat, I also want to thank you for starting S&F.  I has become a good part of my life now.

Several people mentioned Deems/Maryal/Mary Howland.  She taught literature an the Naval Academy in Annapolis, and led or participated in a number of discussions.  She lived just down the road from me, and for many years we swam in the same YMCA pool, but never at the same time.  We didn't see much of each other either--busy schedules.  Her cancer diagnosis was very unexpected, and it proceeded rapidly.  I saw her several times near the end, which she met with considerable grace and courage.

She was one of those people who don't photograph well, but I got a good picture of her at the 2006 meeting.

MaryPage

So glad you found that.  That is me, MaryPage, sitting with Mary.  And yes, she was much better looking than that, but that is she, no doubt about it.  Once upon a time, when the two of us were meeting for lunch down at City Dock, we arranged to also meet with all of the folks with Passports to the Michigan folder, especially those in the back room where Norm Tock, the moderator of that august forum (august?) (well, we DID have Papa John!) held forth while selling his bait & tackle.  We said that at eleven o'clock EST on the dot we would be down at City Dock in front of the webcam there with a bright blue balloon.  We were.  And we waved madly for about, oh, maybe 5 minutes, and then we took ourselves off to have our lunch.  Quite a few of the regulars there saw us that day.  Fun!

angelface555

I remember that MaryPage! We really enjoyed seeing you ladies there!

Joy

I, too, remember MaryPage down on the dock in Annapolis with the blue balloon.  I didn't remember who the other lady was that was with her.  I don't remember that name at all.

This new message board is so much fun, remembering all the past "friends".  I never got to go to any of the bashes, so it is fun to see all the old pictures of all the fun you all had.

Mary Ann

MaryPage, I remember Norm telling about seeing you at the Annapolis dock and waving and  how much fun it was to see you.  I don't think he ever got to meet you in person.
