Oh MARY, I forgot how close you are to Penzey's  I think they do have the dry mustards but I forgot which ones.  Spices Inc. has a warehouse pick up point practically in my back yard so I've been using their service.

For some reason I have never put mustard on anything. Something about the colour. So strange can't look at people eating eggs other than hard boiled. Some with  Mayo. Cottage cheese. Can put brown  gravy on but not whitcreamy.

Update on Recipe Indexes as of 10/7/18--I am working on the Indexes to include links to recipes that have been posted.  There is a lot of data and it is very time consuming and requires a lot of concentration trying not to mess up the coding that is already there.  Today I ran into the problem of exceeding the 200,000 character limit on in a discussion for the coding and have had to moves some of the categories from Part 1 to Part 2 and I expect as I work further on it as still have a lot of data to enter that an additional part and further adjustments will have to be made.  I know there are a few errors that needed correction such as a few places where coding is visible or random spaces and I will correct these in the days ahead.  This is a long project and I have been working on it a few hours each day but it is still going to take me a while.  I will let you know when I consider it done but it can still be used until that time and new recipes or related information posted on a daily basis.  Thanks.

I have worked all morning and have completed the Indexes as of today.  There is still some cleanup to do but that will have to wait for another day.  I am sorry that the Indexes are in reverse order and I have tried several different sequences of unlocking and unsticking them and trying to get them in the proper sequence.  You will notice that I ran into the software limitations and have had to add two more breakouts of the Indexes and this will likely happen in the future as more recipes are added. 

Thanks for the nice comments as they are appreciated.  This has been one gigantic project but from now on it will be simple and I will try to keep it updated daily.

I feel really stupid!  I still can't find the index for recipes.  I have to just scroll through until I find one I remember seeing.  WHERE IS THE INDEX??????

Bubble, thanks for answering Jane's question as to how to find the Indexes.  A further word of explanation as to they are at the level above the cooking discussions.  In order to lock them and sticky them at the top of a discussion topic they have to be at this level as I cannot lock them within the two recipe discussions.  I believe is it more logical to leave them in the Homemaking, Food & Gardening folder than start an entirely new folder for the Indexes although that could easily be done.

  I was shocked yesterday when I went to add a new recipe to the Indexes in the cooking section of Seniors and Friends to find that all of the link are now broken.  I am hopeful this problem can be fixed as I spent many hour preparing the Indexes.  I have emailed Michael about this problem and asked for his help. I will let you know if the problem can be fixed. Obviously I will not be doing any more updating until he problem can be fixed but glad to have Mary Ann's big cookie recipe as the starting point for the future.

I just bought my Christmas Fruit cake. Do it every year. Only I eat it. Never have found one as good as family made in UK when growing up. Wish I could find a nice easy one to make for myself. A pound one in the store now cost over $20. On line a couple of places now sell for @ 24.95. Got it last year and not that good.

JeanneP, I like fruitcake too and I buy a small one from Collin Street; it is less expensive and maybe half the size of their regular one.  It has all the bells and whistles the large one has.

My grandmother had a host of nephews and nieces.  Every Christmas, her niece Frances, who lived with her, made a huge batch of fruit cakes which Grandma sent to the other nephews and nieces.  They were baked in shallow pans, packed in boxes, and mailed from the Post Office where Grandma was the assistant Post Master.  I loved the fruit cake, but my attempts at making the fruit cake have not been very successful.  I do occasionally buy one from Kroger, but they just aren't up to Frances's standards.  The recipe wasn't handed down to me.

Sue.  I havn't found one that I have bought that was anywhere near as good as what I grew up with Homemade. Seems that way on everything. The old recipes where the best.

Mary Ann, I love the Collins Street Bakery fruitcake.  We've been there a couple of times and they are very generous in giving all kinds of samples :).  Reminds me of the grocery stores on a Saturday years ago.  Most gave dozens of samples and you could go and make your lunch just out of samples :).

Mary, I used to buy the regular size fruitcake from Collin Street, but our group dwindled in size and this year for the first time we are not having our usual get together, letting the next generation celebrate with their in-laws.  I am sure we will be together at one time or another before the New Year but I don't know of any plans.

I bought the small fruitcake last year - for me - and it worked out well so I ordered another one this year.

Good news regarding the Indexes for the recipes shared here.  I have now been able to update the Indexes for the new recipes added since the update in the software.  I also added in the header of the Indexes a link back to the message where I had posted the link to the old SeniorNet Recipe Index.  That Index had all the categories associated with that one link. 

Again, if you find a link that doesn't work or a recipe that I missed getting added to the Index please let me know.  I checked all of the updates I did today and they all were working after I did the update.

CC, I think the most popular Collin Street fruitcake is the one with pecans and maraschino cherries on it and it costs about $33 plus postage.  I have ordered the mini fruitcake which is more for one person and to me, it has the same ingredients, only is smaller and is in the $25 range plus postage. 

I just deleted an e-mail from them, but if you don't have their address and e-mail, put Collin Street Bakery in the search line and I'm sure you'll get something.

The fruitcakes are delicious - if you like fruitcake, which I do.

CC - No that is not the one.  I just went to the site and saw the one you mentioned and that's OK if you want it already cut, but you'll pay more for it.  I tried to copy a picture but it didn't take.  I'll go back and see if I can find a link to give you.
