My three-year-old daughter stuck out her hand and said, “Look at the fly I killed, Mommy.” Since she was eating a juicy pickle at the time,
I thrust her contaminated hands under the faucet and washed them with antibacterial soap.
After sitting her down to finish her pickle, I asked, with a touch of awe, “How did you kill that fly all by yourself?”
Between bites, she said, “I hit it with my pickle.”

Bubble, I like the picture of the windmill etc.  Cute joke, too!

I hope others will find this site as the other one is dated August 1 and we're nearly to October.

Hi everyone. It is another beautiful and sunny Sunday morning here in South Carolina and our temperatures are only to get to the mid-80's today.  I expect this to be our typical Sunday except we will not go out to lunch after Sunday School and Church.  We have some left-overs in the refrigerator that need to be eaten so will just come home and have lunch.  After resting awhile this afternoon I will probably watch a little football and keep my eye on the golf match.

Sandy, I have a great app on my smart phone that measures my blood pressure and blood oxygen.  It is certainly much easier than the arm cuff and is always with me.  Fortunately I have always had very low blood pressure but have to be sure it doesn't get too low.

Gloria, glad your light situation didn't last too long.  I don't blame folks for avoiding the elevator until the lights on steady again.  Did anyone get trapped in the elevator? Glad Jose has decided to leave your area.  Glad you have good health insurance and are happy with it.

Callie, your planting sound beautiful.  I am going to no longer try to keep any outside plants and flowers growing.  I finally, after several weeks, did get my artificial flowers fixed on my front porch.  It at least makes it look like someone lives here.  Pat is going to get some fall artificial flowers to replace what I have out there now.

Hal, that was a terrible earthquake and as of last night they were still looking for survivors.

Carol, I also like Il Divo and there are some other wonderful Irish Tenor singers and groups.  For some reason fixing my two weeks worth of pills in the special boxes is something I have never enjoyed doing and it seems that chore comes around so often.

Mary Ann, I was watching when the wardrobe malfunction occurred.  Not a serious matter but probably was a bit embarrassing for the golfer.  There is a lot of money involved in the match this week.  I read that the Fed EX Cup total purse is $35 million with the winner getting $10 of it and the rest split among other players.  No wonder the players work so hard to be eligible to play in that tournament.

Amy, it sounds like you marked off a number of things from your list yesterday.

JeanneP, I found our current housekeeper by asking my friends and one of the men highly recommended this lady.  It was a good recommendation.

Shirley, it sounds like your motor home made the trip without new problems this time.  I understand having the pacemaker fire is not a pleasant experience.  Fortunately I have never experienced it and I am on my second pacemaker/defibrillator.

Jane, I agree with Joy and hope you treat yourself to the new bathrobe.  You deserve it.  It sounds like you are feeling much better.

June, hope you felt up to going to the Chapel service today.

Lloyd, being a bit "Dutchy" is probably what has kept you going through all of the hard things you have experienced over the years.

Bubble, thanks for starting us with a fresh to continue our conversations.  I loved the little humor you shared and am sharing it with my family.

Good Morning,

Thank you, Bubble,  for helping with our Soda Shoppe Site.   You picked a beautiful way to start us out.

Just stopping in to pay my debt to Hal,   :-*   for the TCU beating OKState.
Now he owes me for OU beating Baylor.
;D

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good morning everyone, going up to the mid 80's today. This is the end of September isn't it,  not July?

CALLIE   your mums sound beautiful, the colors say fall to me. No trees changing color yet here yet. When I first bought mums to plant in the yard I got 12 of them for $10.- I bet you paid a lot more for yours. I plnted them beside a walk and could be seen from the street and really all the colors blended togeather.

CAROL  wonder if a Swiffer could be used for the cei;ing and walls. Then again I can no longer raise my arms like that and the help I get is not allowed to.

SHIRLEY  an inground pool in more trouble than an above ground one.Yours is way more trouble than it is worth especially since no one ever swims in it.

HAL  will watch your link later. That jerk who hit that nerve by my spine has made my left leg weak.

JANE  maybe you should ask family to return the jars if they want a refill the next year. Those canning jars get more expensive every year it seems.  I first bought a box of quart jars for 36 cents.

LLOYD  isn't Bob the one who went to the hurricane are to help? He sure will be happy to get home.

JEANNE LEE  thanks.

BUBBLE  THANKS A BUNCH.

LARRY  no one dared use the elevator from this floor and never heard of anyone downstairs trying. I only have a 1 week pill box and even then it is a chore I dislike doing even though it is easy and really only takes a few minutes.

Been at the post for more than 2 hours so think I better close.

Gloria,  the trees along the creek behind my fence are still green but look very dry (no rain).  Unless we get some really cold temperatures they'll probably just dry up and blow off.

I paid $1.99 each for 6" pots of the mums at Home Depot.  Probably would have been higher at one of the local nurseries.
I never put mums in the ground because the root balls spread like crazy and are almost impossible to pull out.  Doing so in the planters is hard enough - usually takes out all the soil, too.
I won't be planting anything else there until next year.  Lots of folks here put out pansies in the Fall but I don't have any luck doing so.  Next planting time for them  is February.

Just checking in, as I join every one else to saying it is hot, for this time of the year.

Thank you Bubble, for taking up our get togethers. , so we can keep this page going till Joan gets back

this is just a quick note as I am waiting for my friend Cathy, from the other side of the park.  she just called and wants to take me to lunch.  Have not been out in a week.  I am surprised she wanted to go out on a Sunday. Take care everyone.

Callie, it is with great please that I accept your wager and also pay mine:  :-*     I almost got two, heck I did.
Baylor gave OU a tussle.

Gloria:
QuoteHAL  will watch your link later. That jerk who hit that nerve by my spine has made my left leg weak.

My doctor came in to talk to me about the very thing you mentioned.  He showed me where he was going to burn, the nerves, and also showed me the nerves that control the up/down on the legs and said they stay away from them.  So far things are going well.  Pain is very much diminished, just some soreness, which I was told would occur.  I even stood in church this morning during musical worship.  I haven't done that in a long time.

Callie, pansies can be hard to plant to keep from killing them, well for me anyhow.  I always get the crown down to far in the dirt.  It is almost too warm in winter here for them anyhow.  But they sure have some pretty ones anymore.

Bubble, thank you for filling in.  Your a sweetheart.

Bubble, I thank you for stepping in to help our gallant Jeanne Lee out. She has been so great in keeping us all together, in spite of her own ill health. This place means so much to so many of us who would be  lonely without one another. To me it really should be a two or three person job, as most of us are not that well anymore, so I am truly thankful for what you are doing

Hal, I am so glad you had this procedure done and that it has turned out so well for you. The medical people keep progressing with successful  testing and your people sound like they have done well. Being free from pain for even less than eight months would be wonderful. I wish you the very best my friend.

I am so happy that I was able to attend Chapel today. Dr. Wm. Pennell was our speaker, and he was excellent. He has been here in the past, but this was a first for me. I came home really tired, so I am "in" for the day. Hoping I will get a necessary order placed with my delivery folks. Time now to fix some lunch, since I don't feel up to socializing downstairs. Food and Nap are awaiting me. see you later dear hearts. June

I'm thankful we have Bubble helping us out, but we must remember it takes all of us . May God grant us the sensibilities to do what is right and proper. I love you all. I pray you have a peaceful night, and a really great tomorrow. Hugs, Love and more prayers. June

Thank you, BUBBLE, for a nice new SS to gather in.  I loved your graphic and chuckled with a bit of a frown at your cute joke.

Thank you, HAL, for the video of the procedure you had done.  It was very interesting and I certainly hope you will have many months to be pain free.

GLORIA de, the snapping turtles FINALLY hatched at my son's home in Boston today.  It took 102 days and there were 39 of them.  The grandson's were most excited to experience this from start to finish!  I told Son Kurt he might want to keep his revolver handy just in case they all emerge one day and head off after the boys!  He agreed, remembering your story that you shared.  I hope you enjoyed your lunch out today.

We had quite the storm yesterday afternoon down toward Colorado Springs.  Dr. Dave and Family have season tickets to the Air Force Academy Games.  Granddaughter Kate was to cheer at half time....well the wind and the rain was just terrible, so everyone got soaked at their tailgate party and there were only a hand full of fans in the stands.  The game was stopped for one hour due to lightening in the vicinity.  No cheering allowed of course....in fact there was no half time at all, due to the delay.

The rain and cool temps continued today and will stick around most of the week.  We even turned on the furnace this morning and it was on all day.  Burrrr, I am still chilly.

I have been really on edge all day long due to the blatant disrespect shown by many today for our flag and National Anthem.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Going to be another hot day here but it looks as though Wed will bring us much needed rain. We are off to our Dr this morning, then head back home. I was thinking of cutting the grass but we will see how that goes . Both dogs are laying flat out on the cool floor, tummies full and they have been out for a bit.

I had better get a move on here.
Take care everyone and enjoy your day.

Good morning Everyfriend.  We had a cool night here, good for sleeping, and today won't be as hot as yesterday.  I actually had the a/c on for part of the day yesterday.  It got up to 93.  We are supposed to have temps in the the mid to high 80s for the next couple of days and then down into the mid to high 70s for a week.  Fall is on the way!

My sister and BIL will be here later today.  Brother will hang around town, maybe visit with a friend and my sis and I will make a trip together to the chiropractor.  Depending on how tired he is when we get back, they will either go home early evening or spend the night and leave early a.m.  Either way, I get a nice visit with my sis.

BUBBLE, and my thanks to you for standing in for our JOAN.  Seems we need a coordinator to keep us together but I sure hope you kept on Eloise and Verna to clean the place and serve.  We've become used to them.  ;D

I better go get my shower and get dressed so I'm decent when my sis arrives.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend and make it a good one.

Good morning to all the early friends.....

Another beautiful morning.  Yesterday it got up to 90 º down in the city, but out where I live it was a beautiful breeze all afternoon and probably was in the mid 80's.  These kind of days sure aren't going to last much longer.  Supposed to be only in the low 70's by the end of the week.  That is ok, as long as the sun is shining.  I did get to sit outside for a while.  When I first went out, it was only 2 other ladies sitting out, but eventually several more showed up.  Nice to do a little chit-chat about nothing that important.

I did finally get around to doing some laundry yesterday evening.  Still have more to do sometime later this week.

Not sure what is happening today.   Get the kitchen cleaned up a little bit and empty the dishwasher.  And, I am sure a nap will happen at some point in the day.

Jane, I am sure  you will enjoy your visit with your sister,  even tho part of it will be spent at the chiropractor.  And, then enjoy the rest of the evening with your brother-in-law.

Whatever all the others plan to do today, I hope it will turn out to be a good one.

Joy

Good Morning Everyone!

Well I haven't stuck my nose out so I don't know what the weather is like.  Warm and sticky I am pretty sure.  We are suppose to have some rain this week and a cool front come through, but we shall see.  We got sprinkles yesterday but not real rain.

About the football players and their disrespect, I ask the family yesterday what they, the football players, were so upset about and you know no one could really answer, one of them finally said he thought it was over all the police shootings but you know honestly I don't know what their problem is. Other than some of them don't like Trump.  I would find it a little hard to disrespect a country that gave me the opportunity to make millions of dollars.

Our cleaning lady is coming this morning and get things all spic and span.  She cleans here in the morning and then moves over to my daughters this afternoon and does her house.  We all gathered there last night for a shrimp boil and then strawberry shortcake for dessert.  Hmmmmm, good!

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi everyone. The forecast is for partly cloudy all day long with a high in the upper 80's.  I expect to enjoy a very quiet day as have nothing on my calendar.  I am sure I will find something to keep me busy today.  We enjoyed attending our Sunday School class yesterday and then had a fine Church service.

I was very saddened yesterday evening when I read of the man attacking the church service in Nashville, killing one and injuring several others.

Hal, nice to see that your back is feeling better and you were feeling energetic yesterday.  Hope that feeling continues for you today.

Lloyd,  your friend Bob did a great thing in going to help those in need.

Gloria, wouldn't one of your sons wipe down your walls for you especially if you had a Swiffer to use?  I use two one-week pill boxes so I don't have to perform that chore weekly.

Callie, it sounds like you have extensive gardening knowledge.

deAngel, hope you had an enjoyable lunch with Cathy and that it didn't tire you too much.

June, nothing wrong with having "do nothing" days when that is what is called for.

Jenny, were the snapping turtles hatched in an aquarium or was this something that occurred outside?  Why was no cheering allowed at the game?  It is indeed a shame when are American citizens have no respect for the flag and the National Anthem.  There have been many lives sacrificed so these sports figures could enjoy the freedom in our country and have the high paying jobs in sports they have.  However, I do believe they have the right to do what they are doing under our Constitution.

Amy, you all are sure keeping your doctors busy.  I guess that goes with the aging that is occurring for all of us at this stage of our lives.

Jane, nice you will have time to visit with your sister today.  You were a lot warmer than we were yesterday as we stayed in the mid-80's.

Good morning everyone, it was another AC day and night, hard to believe it is the last week of September here. People still going to the beach even is the ocean water is cooler now. My older son came yesterday with a bag of apples and one of tomatoes.  5 huge ones. will blanche them and then cook them down for sauce. Hope to peel some of the apples and make an apple crisp.

CALLIE  the area I planted the mums had a lot of room so if they spread I did not mind. In the fall after a killing frost I would cuth them back to the ground and cover with a thick layer of peatmoss to protect them over the cold winter. When they came up in the spring I had to keep trimming them till they filled out again.

Just heard on TV that in a town in Mass. that someone found a bag in a river with some puppies tied into it. A boater found it and now the SPCA has the pups and they are OK, their eyes are still closed so they were just about new born. Now they want to find who did that. Terrible.

GLORIA de  nice surprise from your friend, always great to get away from home for a few hours.

HAL  since I last went to that poor excuse of a pain doctor I found out he is in politics. Must have beem thinking about being elected. What got me is that when my leg jumped off the table and I told him he did it a second time.

LLOYD  I think all those who go to help in times of disasters deserve applause and hesrt felt thanks. Between the hurricanes and then the earthquakes in Mexico makes one wonder what is going on. God telling us to behave and get along with everyone?

JUNE  BUBBLE  was a big help to many when S&F opened. She is a wonderful friend.

JENNY  hard to picture turtles in Boston. Is he right in the city or one of the towns around it? Been many years since I was last there.

AMY  it will be in the 80's here till Thursday when rain is in the forecast and then the high is to be in the 60's.

JANE  how lucky you are to spend time with your sister and BIL. Coming from a big family I am the last one left.

LARRY  I could ask my sons but one is still working all the time and the other though retired is busy all the time. He and my DIL baby sit their grandson a few days a week, a joy for them. Then I always hate to ask for help.

Gloria:  I think you should make a short list of what you would like help with and I just don't think the children think about issues with aging.  They wouldn't want you climbing at ladder so let them know your needs.

Jenny:  I am all for freedom of expression even if it is distasteful to my mind.  Can you imagine what would happen to these kind of issues in North Korea, even Russia?

Dishonoring our flag - WE PLACE A FLAG ON EACH SERVICE MEN/WOMEN'S COFFIN in thankfulness for their answering the call to duty.  Take all the sports figures and have them walk through the halls of our VA hospitals.

Lloyd, I know how you feel about going "home" to the Lord. I had those thoughts this morning. But it is not our choice to make. As long as we are here God has something He wants us to do, and so we wait.

One day at a time. We have so much to be thankful for. Those crazy football players only want attention...like mean little kids that act up so they will be noticed. They have been so Blessed in having the good fortune to "make it" in their chosen profession, but it is never enough...they want MORE.. One day God will say..."no more", you used it all up.

Bubble, I thank you for stepping in where you are so needed.I thank you dear friend more that words can say. God be with you.

Time for me to go downstairs for lunch and then "hopefully" home to send off a grocery order that I keep neglecting. Keep the Faith kids !!!!!!!

Good day to ALL.

LARRY & GLORIA, my son lives on an acreage in a suburb of Boston.  102 days ago they watches this BIG snapping turtle come from a pond on the property to lay eggs in a rose garden by their home.  They could tell there were a LOT of eggs in the hole she dug.  Kurt looked up on the internet and found that it is to take 90 plus days for them to hatch so they have been watching the calendar.  After 100 days they thought sure that something went wrong and pretty much gave up on seeing the turtles hatch.  They yesterday, low and behold here come one, two, three......a total of 39 of them, all headed for the pond as fast as they could go.  Quite a expierance to say the least.

Still dreary around here today.....but the rain has stopped.  I hope the sun will come out and stay out soon as I could really need use some brightness!

Thank you all who commented on the kneeling, etc. issues.  I just feel so sad that our world is in such turmoil these days.

Holding on to my positive thoughts and prayers that Our Joan is getting stronger each and every day so she can come back and be with us.....garsh, I sure miss her.

Enjoy your day EVERYFRIEND!

Larry. Never heard of the App to put on Iphone for BP.. It that the only thing it works on. Not on IPads or any other type phone. or Tablets.  I have bought two of the machines at $60 and both stop working fast.  They use the wrist at the Dr. Building. Say 4 pct.  of what they buy don't work but good when they do.  I like the older one fixed on the wall.
94 deg again today. Think I will have more energy when it cools down.
I was in this morning early get blood taken for my yearly physical.  Nice lady in charge of that dept and I was telling her about trying to fine a house cleaner. She thinks could find someone, she will check but also would like to take the job herself and she just works 7:30am to 12:30pm 5 days a week and could use more money. Feeling good about that.

My sis and BIL have gone and I'm just waiting for a text message telling me they are home safe.

AND MY bLOOD PRESSURE IS DOWN TO 127!  I remember telling my daughter once that my way of relieving stress was to go in the kitchen and cook something.  Since they took my bp on Friday and it was 187 I've made and canned 5 pints of salsa, made mustard, a batch of dog food, a casserole from a new recipe and a couple of other small items.  Does tha prove that cooking is a stress reliever for me....or what?

I still think I should have become a chef!

150 over 80 would be great. I have to take one Pill for B P  and watch what i eat. when I do I keep mine around  (100 over 80) pretty good. one thing I love
and can't eat but very few of, is those being cherries (seedless one's) with the
steams to hold and bight off. 6 or 8 of them will take your b s to 180 190 in a
heartbeat. time to bid everyone good night and sweet dreams.

Oh yes if you do not have a blood sugar tester bight the bullet and get one and use it.

Good morning everyone..

Going to be another scorcher today,we will leave the dogs home with the a/c on for them while we head to the city. Hubby has a cardio appointment and we need to do a few things while there...Costco being one of them.

Yesterday went well..I was surprised that my blood work turned out as good as it did  Noticed that the leaves are dying on the trees  and we only saw one family of wild turkeys this time. VON was telling us there is a cougar up by him walking about.

Bubble I too thank you and Jeanne Lee for keeping us going. Pray that Joan soon returns.

Jane wow that is a fantastic number!!! Hope you had fun with you sis yesterday.

Carol, there is a saying. If you don't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front!!!

Lloyd, talked to my honey man and he has some clover honey and I hope to get it on Fri.

Gloria, it was in the 90's here yesterday and likely again today. We are breaking records here for the end of Sept!! We had a couple of fires on in Aug and a/c on in Sept!!

Better get a move on here, need to run hubby's vehicle in to the garage then my neighbour is going to pick me up and bring me back then onto the city.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I waited out Annie's pill on the sofa this morning so I'm a little late getting started today.  I guess yesterday's activities took more out of me than I realized but I did so enjoy my visit with my sister and she really did good when she picked out a brother for me.  He's really special!

Today's activity is making the barbecue sauce that I've been passing over for a while.  As soon as I'm finished here, I'll be getting dressed and getting started on it.  I have to be ready for visitors on Friday.  My Texas daughter if flying into Baltimore airport and my Maryland daughter is picking her up then both are coming here for the weekend.  I can't wait to see them both.  It's been too long.  And for the first time in a very long time, all my kids will be in town at the same time!  There are 2 here and 2 coming!  What more can a mother ask for!

LLOYD, I have my blood sugar checked regularly since diabetes runs in my family.  I have not ever had a trace of it.  I tend to have the quirks that my dad's family had and none of the bad stuff from my mother's family.  But I don't take chances.

Guess I better get this day started.  You all take it and make it special in your own way.!

Good Morning everyone from the sunny
and very mild and pleasant,  rocky coast of Maine.

My favorite time of the year coming up  (FALL),
except that it is too SHORT..    Maybe this year  Fall
will stretch out a little longer ....!

Usually, our worst Wintry Months are January and February.
So we still have time to enjoy the warm...

Have a good day,   Everyone!

Hi everyone.  We are headed back into the low 90's for today. Our Senior Adult Monthly luncheons resume today after the summer break.  Our speaker today is a lady involved with the rescue dogs and I understand we will be having several of those dogs also in attendance.  If the menu is the same as we had last year we will be having soup and a sandwich for our lunch.  I can't remember whether there is a dessert served or not but we can always have an apple or banana to take home.  That is all that is on the schedule for today.

Gloria, the apples and tomatoes make a nice gift from your son.  I like consumable gifts and I certainly like apple crisps. I agree with Carol that your sons are not going to know you could use a little help if you don't let them know.

June, hope you got your grocery order done yesterday.

Jenny, thanks for the explanation of the snapping turtles.  Those little creatures heading to the water must have been quite a site.  Glad your grand kids didn't miss that. I also miss seeing Joan's cheerful postings and hope she will be able to come back and join in the conversations even if she isn't up to doing all that she has done for so long.

Jeanne, the BP app is also available for Android phones.  It does require a smart phone.  The description of the icare blood pressure monitor speaks only of the smart phones.  I have used it in the doctor's office right after they have taken my bp with their device and found the app is very close.  I hope you do find a house cleaner.

Lloyd, I didn't know that eating cherries would impact your blood pressure.

Amy, we had the stuffed peppers from Costco last evening for dinner and they were very good.  I like your saying about the troops.

Jane, how great to for you to have all of your children together at the same time for the weekend.

Good morning, again.

I was just here and wrote a long message and  "poof" it disappeared.   Just don't know what I do when that happens.  Really frustrating.

So, I will just wish everyone a good day, for now.

Joy some time you can scrawl up or down and get it back sometimes hit refresh or combo, of each. good luck.

Joy:  When things go poof, eat chocolate.

Fall is my favorite time of the year too - it just energizes me with ideas.  Now, I face reality.

Jane:  Wonderful for you to have daughters visiting.

Amy:  Thanks for your mentioning troop support.  --- I have not seen a wild cougar for years, probably the last site was when we lived in the foothills and we saw paw prints and also they would bask in the sun after a meal.  Crafty ones.

My sewing yesterday was nerve-wracking because I was trimming the inner part of a piece when  I reached over and the entire cutting table crashed.  Everything was alright - I was afraid that my rotary cutter had damaged something but it looks alright now.  Had to stop for the day after that fiasco.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well it is a drippy rainy day here.  Rained most of the day yesterday and we had flash flood warnings most of the afternoon.  I think we must have had rain most of the night, as wet as it was this morning.  Not fussing though.  We needed the rain.

Larry I still don't understand how the BP monitor works on the phone.  You don't need a cuff?  If not, how do you monitor it? (BP)

Not too much going on here, pretty quite as a matter of fact.  My old dog is back in bed and sound asleep and wife is also back in bed.  I have been taking care of much of nothing.

Any old how, everyone have a great day.

Good Morning all.......My day  is starting out great. Don't really know why, unless it was one of my morning readings. I feel very optimistic, and that makes me happy.

Larry, thank you, but no, I did not get my grocery order in yesterday, and you know what ? I don't even give a hoot. Just goes to tell me, "if you don't have it ,and you don't miss it, you don't need it."

Hal, you sound very happy my friend. Guess that rain you are having filled a need. Or, hopefully, it is lack of pain due to the treatment you had. God is SO good.

I really DO need to write two snail-mail letters, so hopefully that will be what God wants me to do today.

Good afternoon, Sunny and another lovely day. they say to day will be the last of the unseasonably warm days.

My two days out days out this week have done me in.  Monday we went out to lunch, from there drove to WestHampton Bch. and took Dune rd. all the way to the Inlet in Hampton Bays, did stop for a while and watched the beautiful large waves coming in from the ocean. It was like a summer day, crowds where everywhere and people were swimming in the Ocean and also on the Bay side. When we got to the Inlet, we got out of the car and just set and watched the boats coming and going out into the ocean. Even a helicopter landed on the other side of the inlet. I loved the smells of the water and beach.  Made my day.  WE came back to Riverhead, went to a farm stand and loaded up  with veggies.  I also got a small bottle of fresh made cider. WE completed our days, by going to the Snowflake, for a soft ice cream sundae.  The Snowflake is even listed in Woman;s Day Mag. for the best in the US  and it is on my corner. Been there for the last 40 or 50 years. Use to take the boys there when they were little.  Tuesday was another full day.

Gloria D,  I have to agree with Jane.,  Your description of your day out made me feel very jealous.  I just love being by the ocean or even at a beach on the bay.
I have been wanting to go to Ocean City, down on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for so long. I keep hinting, but my family not longer like going to the beach.

I wouldn't be able to walk the beach anymore, but I would just be so, so happy to sit on a nice balcony overlooking the water and the beach and people-watch.

I will have to go back and read you message again and just feel sad that I couldn't be with you.

I'd like a day like Gloria De's too.  We're not near enough to Lake Michigan to go there often, however, if we visit James in Holland, we do drive along the lake.  Norm used to like to detour when he was driving home from any place and Tom does too.  Yesterday we went to Subway and instead of coming directly home, we took a roundabout route.  Much more scenic.

It's 90 degrees here now but a cold front will lower our temperatures by tomorrow and things will be much more comfortable.

Joy, one thing I'd love to do is go to a seafood restaurant; we don't have them here.

Jane, Joy and MaryAnn, you do not know what the day met to me, I thought I would never see the ocean or the Inlet again, where I have had such happy memories.  When Cathy suggest the ride to me I felt like my own grandma, when my mother would take her for a ride on Sunday to places she wanted to see again.
I have been happy tired the rest of the week. WE did take a couple of pictures at the Inlet, they have lots of benches  so we could set comfortably and just look. We were lucky to get a parking place right in front of one of the benches so I had to walk only a few steps.

GLORIA, I could feel your pleasure in what you wrote and I'm so happy you have a friend like Cathy to do such a nice thing for you!  I've reread your entry three times today and it brings me pleasure just to see it trhough your words and feel your joy in the day.  You have a good tired to recover from but you will always have your lovely day!

I'm tired tonight too but it's because I spent the day doing what I love best around the house.  I made a batch of barbecue sauce and canned it.  It looks gorgeous sitting there cooling and I'm going to enjoy it in recipes all winter.  I've been out since June and the kind they have in the store just isn't the same.  Some of it is pretty good but I've been making my own most of my grown up life and I'm used to it.  It's a bit different each time I make it but it's still basically the same.

I'm off to bed pretty soon.  I wish you all a peaceful sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us every one!

Jane, I wish I had had your energy when I was younger.  I alternated with my dad in doing the cooking and I baked cakes and cookies, but I never did any canning.  You mention the store brands of foods not tasting the same; did you ever add anything to them to get a taste more to your liking?

Gloria De, I know how you felt seeing the ocean after wondering if you'd ever see it again.  In 2005 Jim and I drove to North Dakota so that could be his 50th state to visit.  My dad was born in Elba MN and my mother was born in Lake Mills WI.  I was 81 and none of my family was interested in visiting family places.  Jim's wife was my first cousin so she had the same maternal history that I did.  On our way home from North Dakota, we drove first to Elba and next to Lake Mills.  Both places were home to my grandparents, three of which I never knew, so I had my last trip to those places, thanks to Jim and me going to North Dakota.  Doing something like that late in life is very satisfying.  Cathy did something very nice for you and I'm glad you had the trip.

Mary Ann

I did get one thing done today. I wrote a long  letter to a friend that I hugged for ten years where I lived in Hemet. She worked at our front desk, and I still miss her. Then I got a paper jam on my printer, so had to call downstairs for help. Dear Grace appeared shortly and had it all taken care of in minutes. I watched how she did it, so hopefully I will remember.

I have two things on my agenda for tomorrow...Gary's  Bible Study class in the morning, and my Drs. appt. in the afternoon.

I join the rest of you in rejoicing in Gloria de's wonderful day out. I wish we all could have been with her.

But now it is time to the get ready for bed chores, then book and bed and prayerfully a good sleep for us all.God is watching over us, so sleep peacefully. Hugs and Love dear ones. June

Everyone ready for me to turn out the lights?  Did I tell y'all that Mama CallieCat returned?  Poor thing, she looked starved, must have been locked in someone's garage & they finally got home.  She was missing the whole time I was gone & until either Sunday or Monday night, so at least 10 days.  She has been eating everything I put in her dish & then fills up on the Friskies Indoor Delights dry food. One of the neighbors came running over when she saw her out front, said she had just that night before put away the food dishes she kept outside for her.  So far she has slipped into my garage day & night ever since.  I have dry food feeder, couple bowls of water, a litter box & heated bed in the garage for her.... so when it is raining like yesterday & today, she is content to stay in.  She does come inside to eat meals with her kids (Tom & Tiger).  What can I say, they have me well trained. ::)

The son of the couple across the street that moved into retirement village for one & memory care for the other just a couple weeks ago, came over today to tell me his father died yesterday.  I am glad they got her moved & she is settling in nicely at her new home, she was a nurse so knew the score.  He was a doctor, such a character, going to miss him.  We all recognized that he hated not being able to take care of themselves.  We know he is in a better place but his wife will struggle with the loss.  He treated her like a queen, a beautiful love story, we are never ready to give up friends or family, are we?

Love hearing about everyone's days, especially the joyous one like yours, Gloria de....

Sandy, that is a darling photo of Fe.... is she a "free spirit" like her gr-grammy?  Looks very independent & determined.

Mary Ann, I know how you feel about visiting family places.  I hope to go to an Octoberfest in the little town where my mother grew up.  I need to call a cousin that lives there to find out when the town/church has their big one.  I have 2 other trips planned for Oct, one a class reunion & other is my father's side family gathering. The Octoberfest has been a goal for years, to taste some of that old French & German food that recipes have passed down generation to generation.  Many years ago I took my parents to one & was amazed at the memories of tastes & smells still so familiar.   Every year something happens that I don't go.... I really want to get there this year.  The trip to MO is about half as far as where I go in CO, so much easier.  It isn't too far for my daughter to come for a day trip, she loves doing that.  Couple years ago the cousins on my mother's side had a reunion in the little town along the river where my father grew up.... daughter & her daughter joined me & absolutely loved the history.  The old town is on the National Register of Historic places.

Sweet dreams & God Bless....

Mary Ann,  oh, how I wish I could take you out to dinner at one of our favorite seafood places.

Maryland's Eastern Shore is very famous for their various seafood, but there are lots of places all over the state that serve wonderful seafood.

I guess you can get crab meat and other various seafood items, but it sure isn't the same as getting it fresh.  There is one place right near me that gets their crab meat delivered fresh every morning.  I do get good steamed shrimp from our local grocery store.

I have seen some  places in different parts of the  US that  advertise they serve Maryland Crab Cakes,  but I have never found one where they really do taste like our good Maryland ones.

Good morning everyone.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading all your posts ,got hungry for sea food and loved the smell of the ocean.

Yesterday was another scorching day, Dr was pleased with hubby's bp  and didn't change any meds. I returned a phone to Costco...goodness I  couldn't program the phone book in it and gave up. Told the girl the phone was ok it was just me and I was going to buy one that I knew I could program. She said they get a lot of the ones I returned back, told her I do understand that!

Each year we make a pilgrimage up through a Park when the colour is on and thought maybe today but it is going to be another hot day so opted for tomorrow when the temp is not so bad. This will give me a chance to play catch up,finish off a quilt and go get hubby's vehicle from the garage.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning Everyfriend!  We're just here waiting out Annie's pill time.  I read everything and, like Amy, had a yearning for sea food and actually smelledthe ocean.

SHIRLEY, I'm glad your kitty returned and I'm sorry about Lauren Kat but, like someone else said, hopefully she just found herself a comfortable place to curl up and leave this earth.

I have another busy day today!  Lots of catching up to do.  And if I have any energy left, at least one doggie will be in the tub tonight.

The timer went off and it's breakfast time for the doggies and me too so I wish you all a lovely day filled with memories!  Enjoy!

Good Morning everyone. 58º and partly cloudy goring for 70º today. VA gave me a phone I can hear better on, is called ( clarity ) little by little I am getting it programmed. It has a book about 1/4" thick 6" x 8" . the hard part is figuring out and finding what you want to do with it. you dial a # to call it repeats what ever # you push that is good as you know right off if you pushed the right key.
now for all the learning curves and remembering them. can also put frequent
calls and or save a number called you if you like. oh just to remember how to do what. what a phone . Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Everyone!

The rain continues along with the cooler temps, just suppose to be in the 80's today.

Not too much on tap her today.  Like yesterday, have a repairman due between 8 and 10, hope it is closer to 10.

I am not much on seafood or the ocean.  Enjoy both on rare occasions.  Use to go down to the beach in Corpus Christi and walk and pick up Sand Dollars and of course girl watch.  LOL

I am like some of you, I do enjoy going back to old family places and love reunions, unfortunately, the younger families don't have them any longer.  My family, close family, get together every chance we get.
I have always taught my brood that family is very important.  Tisie I can still remember all the good cooking and desserts.  Makes my mouth water.

Well coffee is ready.  Who wants some. I'm pouring.

Good morning everyone, I am so dumb. I know I cannot do much anymore but I over did it on Monday. My son brought  me a bag of huge tomatoes and a bag of apples on Sunday. I could not see wasting the tomatoes so I blanched and peeled them and cooked them down for sauce. Have 7 containers now in the freezer.  Made an apple crisp yesterday and cut some apples up and into the crockpot for applesauice. They cooked down overnight but I will wait for my CNA to put it through the food mill. Can hardly walk, never mind stand for anything. I am still paying for that work and can just about move.

GLORIA de  your day is something I would enjoy, too. Love the smell of the ocean abd watching the waves break over the ledges.

That's it for me today unless I feel better later.

Good Morning Everyone from the warm and pleasant,
  rocky coast of Maine.

I am off this morning with Kelly to do errands  and sometimes
Madison and Fe come along too.     (Four generations of gals)..

Fe is easy to take along.    Her parents take her with them
everywhere.     If they go bowling,  Fe goes bowling.

It is really funny,  her being only 18 months old now..
Their little family is very very close.   When her
dad gets out of work, he is right there for Fe, and takes over
for the evening ...

I love to see little families that connect so much.
Madison is a stay at home Mom.

Time to get ready to go out.
Have a great day,  everyone!

I'm resting from my labors.  I made a batch of dog food that will last me until Sunday morning.  If I could just teach these dogs not to eat....oh well, that's a small thing. Then I made my laundry detergent for the next 2 months.  That has to sit for 24 hours with a little shaking now and then along the way but it sure saves me a lot of money!

Now I'm taking a bit of a rest and then I have to take a shower and get dressed and grind coffee.  Then after lunch, I'm meeting my grandniece at her college to give her my sister's keys that she forgot.  Bridget is going home for the weekend and can take them and that's faster than UPS or USPS.  And easier for me and I get a hug from Bridget into the mix.

When I come back from there, it'll be almost time to pick up TLH at the bus.  And that's how my day is going.

SANDY,  FE is adorable!  I really enjoy the updates and watching her grow up.  It seems only yesterday that she was born!

I'M OFF!  (And I'll accept no snide comments on that remark!

It is going to be another sunny and hot day here in South Carolina with it getting into the mid-90's again this afternoon.  I expect to have a pretty quiet day.  Pat will go to her craft group this morning and then plans on going out to lunch with a couple of the women from the group.  I am delighted to see her do this as it has been a long time since she has done this and know she always enjoyed it in the past.  I need to go get a loaf of bread and a couple of other things and may eat my lunch out.  This evening will be the Wednesday night dinner where our main item will be beef stroganoff.  Then Scott and Jennifer will likely come out to the house for the evening.

We really enjoyed our senior adult luncheon yesterday.  There were six ladies there with their therapy dogs and they presented our program by telling us about the program and a bit about their dogs.  One of the ladies had a big Mastiff dog that she said weighed 180 pounds but was a gentle giant.  After the program we had a nice lunch of a big sub sandwich with salad, chips and a chocolate chip cookie.  This is my kind of lunch.

Lloyd, fortunately I don't have diabetes although one time I was given the testing equipment.  I eventually passed it on to our daughter as what I had was better than what she was using and she was very much a diabetic. Glad you have a phone that you will be able to hear on and hope it isn't hard to use.

Hal, the BP monitor works with the flash on the smart phones.  I did a quick Google search and found this link that provides some pictures. It does not replace the cuff and the app has a disclaimer that it could be up to 11 points off.  I think it would be a quick indicator if a person saw they had a high reading to get to the doctor for better analysis.  https://www.instantbloodpressure.com/

June, I like your attitude about not getting concerned if something you planned, like doing your grocery order, doesn't get done as you might have planned.  I am a very routine oriented type person and my wife is just the opposite.

deAngel, as you recovery form your two days out you at least have some great new memories of the joy you experienced.  Glad you were able to get to the ocean again.  You did a lot in one day.  There is a place here in North Augusta called the Snowcap that is the old type drive in that has been in business for many years.  However, I don't think they do any ordering or carry out to the cars.  We have eaten there once and it was OK but can't say it was a place we will likely visit very often.  I think it would have a long way to go to make a best list.  :)

Shirley, glad that you got CallieCat back and no wonder she is hungry.  Your planned October trips sound like a lot of fun.

Joy, I remember those good crab cakes when I lived in Maryland for 5 years.  It seems around here there is more filling than crab in the cakes. The Chop House restaurant we go to for special occasions does have decent crab cakes and I have had them several times.

Amy, glad your husband got a good report from is doctor.

Gloria, sorry to see that you overdid with the tomatoes and apples.  You sound like my wife in pushing a bit further with what you are doing than your body wants to go.

Sandy, so nice to read that Fe's dad is so attentive to her.  I hope you have a great outing today with your family. She is a beautiful little girl and these 18 months sure have passed quickly.

I will just say - DITTO to everything Larry wrote.  Love the "picture" of the loving family for it is nice to see a family caring for each other - that is Sandy's family!

We had a really nice quilt gathering last night and a newcomer came - her name is just like mine.  She is fairly newly widowed and moved here to be closer to a son.l

We are planning to see a grandson in Fort Collins tomorrow - anticipating a dreadful drive through the city of Denver.  Why are all these people moving here daily - it is an exodus of huge portions that has changed this area drastically.  Cannot understand it - there are not that many jobs - housing and rent is sky high now.  Still, they come.  Support organizations are on overload.

Mentioning the return to places you lived - I am so glad we spent two weeks in Minnesota and got to see the relatives and friends.  It was a great return to yesterdays.  Many are intending to come and visit us now - that would be super duper!

Shirley, the last family reunion I went to was in 1951; my mother's family in Wisconsin.  I took the train there, stayed with Mother's aunt along with others (big house).  We were/are the only family in Michigan and when we got together at Christmas at Norm's in recent years, that was our reunion.

Sandy, I see Fe is about the same age (18 months) as my oldest 2x great niece who lives near Lansing MI and I seldom see.  I see the almost-8-month-old twins more often because they're Tom's granddaughters and he takes me with him occasionally.

Shirley, I'm glad CallieCat returned; it would have been awful to lose two cats.  While I felt you would not find LaurenCat, I really hoped that you would.  I picture her now as sitting on Cas's lap wherever they are.

I think I have not had crab cakes, my seafood love is fish.  Joy, I'd gladly accept your invitation to lunch at a seafood place.  Around here, it would be whatever fish was served at a restaurant.  We do get Lake Michigan lake trout but it is so often served fried and I try to steer clear of fried things.  I don't know how to cook fish and I don't cook any more anyway.  Tom does not like fish.  When we've gone to the Score, I've ordered their Fish and Chips.  The fish are deep fat fried, but they're meaty.  You can guess the Chips are French fries and I eat very little of them.  I have not seen the oceans enough to gain appreciation of either one, but Lake Michigan has spoiled the oceans for me.  You can't see across Lake Michigan and we have some spectacular days of white caps.  The other Great Lakes are the same as Lake Michigan but I don't see them as often (or any more).

Gloria Z, I hope your aches and pains disappear soon.  I'm not ambitious enough to try to make anything like you did.  Or that Jane does.  Or Amy.  I hope when you reach your 90s that you will still have energy to do things.  I never did have lots of energy and operated on one level - not high nor low.

End of book.

Mary Ann

Good afternoon, on a warm muggy cloudy day.  They say Marie will be will offshore later to day.

Shirley, Hope you get to your Oktoberfest, sounds like you would have a great time.  Many years ago I went upstate to and Oktoberfest, I think near Bear Mt.  I also went to a big beer garden with lot of singing while I was in Germany.

Jane I wish I still had all your energy. I like BBQ, wish I could stop by and get a little on my chicken.

MaryAnn, we use to have small family get togethers, but there only are a few cousins left now. Of course I am the oldest one left.

Joy, I have had Maryland crab cakes once when I was on a bus trip to Wash.

Amy, so happy to read your hubbys BP.was OK.  AS I told Jane I never could keep up with you gals anymore, and to think I use to work all day and teach Line dancing at the center at night.

Hal, I will be over with cup in hand.  I have to tell you I like strong coffee and no sugar.  Just milk.

Gloria, I know how you feel it is Wed. and I still am recuperating from my adventures Monday.  I was even happy when I had to clean up the  beach sand  I had brought home in my shoes.

Sandy sounds like you have a lovely caring family.

Larry, also happy to see that Pat got out and about. Larry two line went out the door at the Snowflake, and they only sell soft ice cream.

Good afternoon June, always good to see you post.

maryAnn, when I have been in the hospital, they are not happy that I live alone.  they always ask if I can cook, I say i am a very good cook, I take fancy food out of the freeze and put it in the microwave, heats in a few min. and I set down to dinner.

Yes Carol, it is nice to go back to "Yesterday" once in a while.  there I have happy memories.

Jenny you wrote the other day about the snapping turtles.  Well at lest your g.son did not take them to school and sell them. :)  Yes I can still see that monster size snapper coming on all 4's and heading toward Mark on a blanket on the lawn, it had it mouth wide open.  Thanks God the police officer was driving by.

Good Afternoon Everyone.

I had a good morning today going out with
Kelly, Madison, Fe, and Maggie ...
So good to all get together.

Regarding Puerto Rico.    My son married a gal
from Puerto Rico,  and her whole family that still
lives there (some had already come to the mainland US.
Are going to be leaving the Island.    This includes her
Mother and Father,  and other close family members.

They are not going to be able to leave for a few more
weeks  (middle of October)....

In the meantime,  my son Kirk's and his family are moving
from Pennsylvania to Boston ....

So they are moving and his wifes family are leaving a
disaster zone...  (Puerto Rico is so damaged and living
there will be difficult for many months if not years to come. )

Kelly  has offered her home to give the people
relocating from Puerto Rico a safe place to live
and get settled.   (Kelly and her girls can live in the
cellar until people get settled.)    ...   it may not happen,
but it is so important for families now to sacrifice while
these unfortunate people stranded on Puerto Rico and the
Virgin Islands start their lives over again here in the States.

Hopefully  the US will get it's act together to help
residents of Puerto Rico  overcome this tragedy.

Good afternoon, EVERYFRIEND.

I did not get in yesterday, so I had a lot of catching up to do.  We had a cable repairman here at 7 AM for over 3 hours.  He finally was able to correct the problem that we have been having and we sure were happy.  Very nice young man.

We had a delightful gathering at Dr. Dave and Michele's last evening.  Bob's two first cousins and their hubby's are visiting from Birmingham and Auburn.  M made a delicious meal and we all sure enjoyed it.  Tomorrow Bob and I will be joining them at the famous Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.  We are looking forward to the day.

SHIRLEY, it was good to read that your kitty returned...poor baby sounded famished....  Sorry to read that your neighbor passed away so quickly after moving from his home.  Your up coming trips sound delightful and I am happy for you.

SANDY, the news and pictures coming out of Puerto Rico are extremely disturbing.  Our National Gurd has been sending troops down to help them out.  Bless everyone there.  So nice of your daughter to offer her place for the family to come and stay so that they can get on their feet.  Such a beautiful country that is just devistated.

GLORIA de, I sure enjoyed reading about your outing and were certainly delighted that you had such a nice time.  As others, I was sure pleased that Cathy took you out for a great day together.  LOL, no grands did not take the turtles to school, however they sure wanted to keep a few for pets and suggested giving ones to their friends.  They were sure cute little devils.  I will look to see if I can send you a picture of them.

CAROL, I know we really need the moisture but I am really tired of these gloomy days....I NEED my sunshine fix!  Sorry your table callaspsed on you.  Sure glad nothing got hurt but I bet it gave you a fright.

I feel so sluggish when the sun does not shine.......

Enjoy your day my friends.

I hit "reply" and was going to say that my busy day was finally over and I remembered that I had a pan of cauliflower cooking in the oven that will need to be cooled and frozen in meal size bags and another pan on the stove that will need to be finished in the oven (maybe tomorrow) and also frozen.  I got a beautiful, immense head of cauliflower at the Farmers market.  I couldn't resist.  I also got some beets to cook and eat and drink the beet water they were cooked in.  That's good for high blood pressure and she even told me I could put a little lemon juice and a tiny bit of sea salt in it.  It's not bad that way but now I also have to deal with the beets.  I think I'll pickle them and throw in some hard boiled eggs.  That means that I'll have to go get eggs but I think I'll wait until Christy gets here and see if she brings me any eggs.  She has chickens!

Now, the only thing I have to do yet tonight is drain the water off the pan on the stove and stick it in the fridge until tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, Mickie has a 7:30 appointment at the vet so I'll have to be up and attem early tomorrow.  I sure hope the sofa has a couple of zzzzs left there for me to find while Mickie is gone.

Gloria, if you were close enough, I'd bring over a jar of barbecue sauce so you could have some whenever you wanted it and when you ran out, you'd just have to let me know.

And now I bid you all a very good night and may God bless us, every one!

It seems like I was busy all day long, but I did get a short snooze in this afternoon. Gary's Bible class was great, as usual. And my doctors appt. went well. Tomorrow is choir practice, so that is a must attend.

Now it is time to take care of the various "get ready for bed" chores, so off I go. Hugs, Prayers, and bushels and barrels of Love. Always. June

Good morning everyone..

The weather has finally cooled down tis 43° with a gentle breeze at the moment.

Jane, you have done a lot of work to prepare for the winter ahead!! Farm fresh eggs are the best!!!  I opened up a jar of pears last night and it seems I had better get another peck of pears. Much nicer than the hard canned ones!

Sandy, WOW has Fe grown, love watching her grow up, she is so adorable......but then you already know that

Gloria De, I think what you did was also amazing. You made a lot of people happy by teaching them. I have two left feet :(

Gloria, our apples are starting to come in now and after I get the pears done, they are next. I am going to can them for pies.

June, sounds like your day went well including a little cat nap.

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning Everyfriend!  We're in wait time for Annie's pill and when the boinger goes off, Mickie and I will be off to the vet.  She's getting a tooth pulled this morning and she's not going to like being away from Annie let alone having a sore mouth.

One thing I forgot to do before I went to be was to start the dishwasher.  So there it was full of dirty dishes this morning.  Now that's running.

AMY, I didn't get all the cauliflower packed last night.  There are two big dishes in the fridge waiting for attention today.  But that will keep me busy while I worry about Mickie.  I have to have something to do while I worry. And I can put away the clean dishes and take the stuff out of the dryer and fold it, and....and...Aren't these supposed to be our leisure years?

Oh yes, later I'll be picking up TLH after her after-school exercise thingy.  It's a pretty neat program called "Girls On The Run".  They do all kinds of track things that don't need any equipment and it's run by a bunch of high school kids and their track coach.  I think it's a way of recruiting but I'm not saying that to her.  She loves it and it's good for her.

You all have a good day!  Try to make it your own special day!

Good Morning Everyone!

I see our two lovely ladies are already up and doing their thing.  I swear we have workaholics on our hands.   And yes Janie, these are suppose to be your leisure years. ::)

I am off to mens breakfast and bible study this morning and then cant think of anything I need to get into.  I really should clean up this computer desk but then no telling what I would find, maybe even a dead body.

We are still getting rain, boy we have had several days of it, I had forgotten what it was like, love it.  I didn't get my garbage taken to the curb yesterday, rain and muddy and my back is still giving me fits, just one little spot I think it is where I hurt it when I fell in backyard.  But my elbow is much better, boy I took a hunk out of it.  Got a good look at it yesterday for the first time.  Checked it out good when I showered.  Still have a bandage on it to protect it.

Got to get a move on.  Everyone have a great day and Janie give the pup a little extra love she is going to have a rough day.  Bless her heart.

It is going to be another mid-90's afternoon with no rain in the forecast. It was just Pat and I at the dinner last night at Church.  Scott plans to come out early this morning and install the pull out shelves, which won't take very long.  Today will be my typical Thursday with picking up my friend as the assisted living facility and going to coffee, then taking him home after about an hour.  Finally I plan on attending the Wisdom group this morning. As far as I know that will be it for today.

Mary Ann, I am not a big fan of most fish as don't care for the fishy taste.  However, I love the crab cakes and crab legs, Shrimp and a few types of fish that are mild like Tilapia.

deAngel, I hope you don't get too many effects of Maria.  Unfortunately Pat didn't get to go out to lunch as one of the lady had her granddaughter with her and couldn't go.

Sandy, was your DIL's family home destroyed in the hurricane?  That is a very kind offer from Kelly to share her home.

Jane, the running program sounds like a great idea.

I haven't tried to respond to each of you today as have limited time available this morning.  I need to get the cabinets emptied where the sliding shelves will go.  Fortunately there isn't much in any of the cabinets, mainly some big appliances.  I hope everyone will have a good day.

Larry, where I might go around here and there is seafood on the menu, the fish is likely to be tilapia.  Back in the days when Norm was single (before Dot), we'd go to a nearby restaurant and I'd have baked halibut that I liked.  I don't think halibut is in good supply any more.  I remember being on a Canadian tour when I got some halibut (1966, long time ago) and I loved it.  I can get lake trout that is fried and I try to steer clear of fried foods, but I'm not entirely successful.  Portions of anything at restaurants these days are too large for me and I usually bring half of my meal home - even salads.  I've mentioned this before that if a man and woman order the same thing - regardless of what it is - both get the same amount of food.  They have children's servings, why not woman's servings!

Good morning everyone, this week has shown me that I should never try cooking again. I am still worn out from all I did in 2 days. The only time I do not ache is when I am laying down. Cannot live my life that way. Today is supposed to be the last day of the August temperatures, hope the weather guy is right. A cold northern front is to come in over night.

LLOYD  when I get up from a chair I need something to hold on to so my rollator is always close.

JANE  now if I said I'm OFF every one would agree but not with you. I always enjoyed cooking and baking but now I know about all I can do is make my oatmeal in the mornings. Worse part is there is very few prepared foods from the markets that I can eat. Thank you for your kind remark.

LARRY  it used to be I would cook and bake every day with no problems but now I have realized what just a little cooking is too much.

MARY ANN  with a husband, 3 hungry children and working full time I was always in a rush to cook and clean house. It helped as they got older and helped some ane my daughter surprised me with getting supper ready at times.

GLORIA de  I now know I am not just lazy but really cannot do anything I would enjoy doing.

JANE  I think you meant Gloria de about the BBQ sauce, I love the taste but it does not like me.

AMY  my son has an apple peeler and I used to borrow it to peel, core and slice the apples and then freeze them for pies later. It was great to have different fruit in the freezer to use on cold snowy winter days to bake with.

GLORIA, you're right.  I did mean Gloria De.  She's the one who mentioned the barbecue sauce.  I should have been more specific.

I saved myself some packing time by eating a plateful of cauliflower for lunch.  It was deeeee-licious.

I think Annie misses Mickie but we took a nice long walk this morning and she loved it.
She got to stop and sniff what SHE wanted to stop and sniff and some fix-it guys getting in their truck gave her the works.  The one guy really liked her and he actually knew she was a Scottie.  Most people think because she's white, she a Westie.

Now we're just waiting for 2:30 so we can go get Mickie.  I bet she'll be ready to come home for sure.  Guess I better go put the laundry in the dryer and the dishes away out of the dishwasher.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

The family in Puerto Rico did not loose there home,
but they did loose electricy,  water access to food.
They own four properties down there,  but it is going to be weeks if not many months to get the island back up and livable.    The electric grid on the island has been destroyed.    So that takes care of
just about everything..   No AC or Fans....  and the temperatures are up in the 90's days and very humid.

So there are nine family members who will be leaving the island
and settling in the mainland,  as soon as that can be arranged.   (not easy to get on or off the island)

I do believe that the US is starting to get its help
organized...  but for many it is way too late.

Sandy, I'm glad to hear the Puerto Rico family home is OK even without electricity or water.

Jane and Gloria Z - re I'M OFF - It was kind of a family joke when my dad would leave for school (he was a teacher) in the morning, he'd say, "Well, I'm off" and my mother would say, "you sure are"!  And we'd all laugh.

MaryAnn, that sort of like our family joke.  My mother would say "I'm off" and my dad would say, "She doesn't know how right she is."

Mickie is home from her ordeal.  She is minus 3 teeth a thirsty enough to drain the city water supply.  However, they said she is to have water in small amounts for the next 8 hours so I guess I'll be putting the dish up and down regularly.  She doesn't seem to have suffer much from her day away but when I went to get her, I could hear her barking in the back.

She has more medicine to take for the next 2 weeks than I've taken in the past 10 years!  That should keep me busy, too.

Jane, you are going to have to give Mickie special love...and cuddles.

We took off with the dogs on our yearly pilgrimage through the Park to see the colour.....and it wasn't that vibrant as it was last year. We usually head on over to another town to have lunch but instead turned around and came home. Love the drive through the park, not a place to go on weekends as bus loads of people are like ants all over the road taking photos.

Managed to get the last binding made for the 3rd quilt so I can take that with me tomorrow.

Hal, that little fella meant business.

Better go see what I can get out of doing  :2funny:

HAL, that was FUNNY!  But it sure wasn't Mickie! The only part of her that she doesn't want touched is her jaw and i avoid that.  They are both under the desk, in fact, they've both been hot on my heels ever since she came back.

Amy, I don't think the colors are as nice here this year either.  Maybe it's the extremely hot weather we've had.  I think they need a frost to color.

I managed to get the beets pickled now to wait and see if Christy brings me any eggs tomorrow.  If she doesn't, I'll have to go buy some.  Maybe I'll text her tonight to see if she has any ready to go.

I'm ready for some rest.  I didn't get a chance to check the sofa for zzzs this afternoon.  I think I might just go watch some TV through my eyelids.  And if that doesn't work, I think I'll hit the hay early!

Forgot to say that today was a perfect Fall day.  The temps were in the high 70s, the sun was shining, the sky was blue and there was a lovely breeze!  My favorite kind of day!

The only thing I have managed to do today is go down for lunch, home to stash my left overs and back down for choir practice, and I feel like I have been washing walls and floors all day long. How can one become so fatigued by doing nothing ? I am even too tired to read a book.

Tomorrow, with God's help I plan to go down at 2 p.m. to celebrate Dr. Hadleys retirement party. He has been our Chaplain here at Rowntree Gardens for the past 15 years. He started when we were then called Quaker Gardens. He and his wife are Life Time residents, so this will always be their earthly home. I love both of them as part of my family.

Time to eat some suppper and get ready for an early bed time. I pray you all have a happy, healthful tomorrow, and a peacful, blessed sleep tonight. Hugs, Love and Prayers. June

Good morning everyone

We are now getting fall temps, it is 0° this morning, I had better hunt up a long sleeve blouse to wear today. We are off to the city taking 3 quilt tops to be finished and picking up more fabric plus two kits she wants me to do.Taking the dogs with us as they really enjoy going in the vehicle and know that there are special treats for them when we stop for lunch. You don't dare not bring them something from your lunch!
Jane ,hope Mickie is better today. Vet told me to give Golden girl soft food for a while but it wasn't long till she wanted her hard treat cookies. She gave me a scare this morning, I called her 3 times and then had to touch her to see......well just to see and she woke up. She must have been in a deep sleep.

June, don't chastise yourself for being tired...all I am doing today is driving and that tuckers me out!!

This is the first time the sewing group is back after summer so it will be nice to see the ladies.

Enjoy your day everyone..

AMY we have a couple of quilting frames but do not set them up any more. Nancy and her mom both used to do quilting, but not any more. the sewed the blocks to gather to make the top's, but quilted them by hand in the frame.
but te last quilt she did she set it to gather and then took it to a lady to machine quilt it. nice but not as nice as all done ones by hand, i may try to take a picture of one or two of what she done and post them. she told me yesterday she is thinking about having G D to teach her how to get on the computer and use it.
that will be good but i will have a hard time getting it then. Have a great day.

Good morning Everyfriend!  We've been up for a bit but with all the meds and restrictions Mickie has, it took a while to get through the pill process and breakfast.  Mickie now takes the same pill Annie does in the morning...the one we have to wait an hour for.  Then she has 3 of her own that go in the food until she finishes them off.  That's every 12 hours.  They told me to watch her water intake but she's so thirsty all the time.  I seem to remember that when I had my teeth extractions, I was thirsty, too.  I guess if she keeps it down, she'll be Ok.

We're having Fall here too.  I wrote what a perfect Fall day yesterday was but I'm not ready for freezing temps yet.

LLOYD, I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with your breathing apparatus but I hope they'll be able to help you over the phone.

I got up and stripped the bed so I could wash the sheets for my daughter's visit and then I remembered, they're staying with my other daughter tonight and coming here tomorrow.  So I put the bottom sheet back on and the one I'll be using on the pull out bed on the top and I'll try that move again tomorrow.

I hope you all have a lovely day!  Take it and make it yours!

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another sunny and hot day in the high 80's or low 90's.  I have nothing on my schedule that requires me to leave the house today.  I am glad as days I am away for a couple of hours or more seem to now require a day of rest following.  Yesterday went as planned.  I did get to coffee and the Wisdom class.  Just as I got home Scott was about to drive away after installing the slide out shelves but got out of the car and gave me a big hug and came back inside for a few minutes.

Mary Ann, I do like halibut and trout although haven't had ether one very often. I am beginning to see more restaurants offering half portions although not half prices.

Gloria, Pat is doing less and less cooking these days.  We are thankful for so many prepared foods that make good meals.  We have been exploring the prepared meals from Costco recently and have been most happy with them.

Jane, it sounds like Annie liked all that special attention she got without having to share it with Mickie.

Sandy, it is a wonder the poor folks in Puerto Rico can survive.  They showed on the new last night the many containers for relief supplies that are stacked up on the docks but have no way of getting them to where needed.

Amy, one of the perks of being retired is that we can take those leaf trips and do other things during the weekday hours and avoid the crowds on weekends.

June, sorry to hear your activities yesterday left you so tired.  I have found it takes a lot of energy to sing and that is why I had to give up singing in the Church choir a number of years ago.  Hope you are able to attend the party for the retiring Chaplain.

Lloyd, your won't see anything on your CPAP screen that will indicated it has communicated with someone else.  We have the same type and can go online and see the results of the previous night and a week or two past that.  The doctor can access different data from the company to monitor your care.  If Nancy starts using the computer you will soon have to get another computer for her use.  At least we found it didn't work very well for both Pat and I to try to use the same computer.

Good day!  It is our anniversary and I think we will go out for breakfast.  Just so tired from our day trip to Fort Collins to visit two grandchildren at CSU and a retired pastor who is a fishing buddy to Don.  Great visits - terrible traffic.  The little city of Fort Collins is in gridlock now and still builders are pushing.

Jenny:  Don has stayed at the Broadmoor many times for meetings - I have never been there except to see it from the outside.  It is supposed to have wonderful service. Glad you had such a good time.

Jane:  I usually microwave a head of cauliflower after covering it with wax paper to keep it moist.  It was a lesson from the county class on how to operate a microwave - years ago.  You sure are a busy gal!

Mary Ann:  Halibut is my favorite.  We have had it baked with a mayonnaise topping and it was so moist - that is how they fixed it in Sitka.  Salmon is my other favorite and Walleye is great too.

Jane S.  glad your Mickey is doing well.  We care for our children's dogs now - too many steps here plus coyotes in the back.

Lloyd:  It would be so nice to see a picture of Nancy's quilts.

Poor Puerto Rico - Houston - Florida and it goes on forever.  Some is barely in the news anymore - the workers are overwhelmed.  Wishing we could help but we cannot do that work now.

Sandy:  I hope all of your family is able to get out of the disaster area to safety.  The loss of home, jobs, everything is just incredible.

Just want to say Hi !

I am  just saying  "good morning" and I hope everyone will have a great day and a great week end.

I just wrote a long message and I have no idea what I did, as it just disappeared.  Makes me so frustrated and I don't have time right now to rewrite it.

Good Morning Everyone from the
cool and sunny rocky coast of Maine.

Sadly,  many, many Puerto Ricans are getting ready to
leave the island.     They are loosing their homes,  their friends,
their jobs  and everything else that they have strived for .

By the time that they get to go back,  should they
choose to,  there is no guarantee that there property
will still be there,  safe or what ever and not
taken over by the people left behind ...

The possible scenario is so bad that I can't even
imagine the devastation that they are all feeling.

My daughter in laws family do have family here in the
USA to be able to help them get "resettled",  if and when
they can get off the island.

It kind of reminds me of the "starting over"
that our ancestors did when they left  Europe
etc and came to the "new world"....

The  young people are all bi lingual,  Speaking
Spanish and English fluently  but the elders
are not necessarily so ....   (keeping in mind
that they are ALL us citizens born and brought
up in a Spanish Speaking Territory  of the US. )

As the days go by things will get better,  or
at least there seems to  be more help arriving.

I came in and read your posts, but got busy with the day and forgot to return to post. Had a grand day..lunch with Chaplain and his wife..home to fall asleep, woke in time to get back to the festivities at two p.m. Both my Gary and Dori were able to attend, and both spoke of their long friendship with Chaplain and his wife. Then home with Dori to just visit...how I do love that girl.

Now my eyes want to close, but I have to do the "before bed time" duties and then off to sleep. I love you my dear friends. Have a peaceful night. June

Good morning Everyfriend!  It's 53º here this morning and is only supposed to hit the low 70s today.

My two girls and one granddaughter arrived yesterday and we had a nice visit beofre Cindy's class reunion activities began and I came home.  They are staying with their sister Cathy tonight and will be over here tomorrow night.  We're al; going to the local arts festival today.  They're supposed to text me when they're up.  Cindy said they would probably aim to leave around noonish to go there.  They close off the whole center of town for this activity and EVERYONE goes.  It's pretty neat!

Of course, my favorite part of the presentations is the food!  But then, you know that's my favorite "craft".

AMY, Mickie's mouth doesn't seem to be giving her any trouble.  I tried her on a regular treat last night and she took it.  It took her a bit longer than usual but she ate it.  We'll see if it hurt when I offer her another one today.

Coffee's ready if anyone wants a cup.  You can have one now and then have seconds with Hal when his is ready.  Enjoy your day!  Make it all you want it to be!

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning.   I will give it another try this morning and hope my message doesn't disappear.

It is a beautiful sunny morning,. but very chilly.   I have my son's big party to go to today, and I will be sure to wear something very warm.  I am even thinking about taking some kind of a blanket/afghan to wrap around my legs.  I will be sitting a good part of the day, and you get colder faster than if you are moving around.  There will be a lot of things going on to watch.  And, lots of good food.   They live on a big horse farm, and the kids will get a chance to get horseback rides with somebody walking them around, hay rides, volleyball,  horseshoes and just us older ones sitting around catching up on what is going on in our lives.  Will get to see some friends and relatives that I don't get to see a lot.    I think this is about the 25 + years they have been having this get together.  Always is a nice day.

I need to finish getting the food ready that I am taking.  One of my other son's will pick me up about noon.  So, I really need to get myself moving.  As I have mentioned many times here, I am just not a morning person.  Takes me so long to get  "up and atem".

Jane, your local arts festival sounds like it is a nice day.  This is the time of the year when there are a lot of all kinds of art and fall festivals.  I haven't been to a nice one for a long time now.  I know you will enjoy being with your family.

Amy, good morning to you, too.  I had my heat on for a little while already this morning.  Just turned it back off, as it has warmed my place up enough now and I am comfortable.

Hope all the other friends will have a nice Saturday.

Joy

Hi Everyone.  We are to get a break in our high temperatures today as expect only the low 80's with a slight possibility of some rain.  I do have a busy morning planned for today but the rest of the day should be quiet. I will watch some college football this afternoon.

Carol, I have never heard of that technique for microwaving a head of cauliflower.  I actually prefer mine to be raw rather than cooked.  Pat sometimes substitutes cauliflower in place of rice in recipes.  It takes a bit of getting used to but it is fine.

Joy, I hope you have a wonderful time at your son's party today.  We have gone from warm to pretty chilly almost overnight in a number of places.  I think we are to get into the 50's tonight so may have to have our heat on for a a little while in the morning.  It is frustrating to lose a posting that we have spent considerable time on but it happens to most of us occasionally.

Sandy, I expect most of us can't relate to what the hurricane victims, especially in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and other islands in that area are experiencing. At least your DIL's family have a place to go when they can get off the island and people to help them.

June, it is wonderful that you now live close enough to family that they can visit with you often and be available for you when needed.

Amy, it sounds like you will have frost very shortly and perhaps freezing conditions.

Jane, it sounds like you have a delightful weekend ahead of you with your family and attending the fair.

Lloyd, it sounds like your equipment is more advanced that what Pat and I have.  Ours doesn't tell us when to order new supplies.  Ours shows how long we used the CPAP and whether we get a smiley or frowny face depending on whether our masks have leaked air or not.

Larry this tecknowlage  Is over my head. all I can say is your tax $$ are at work with at least V A. I am sure there are a lot of vet's deserving , not sure I am.
I did my job when I was there but never left the states and was not in harms way at all. colstest I was to have been was when the bay of the pigs took place in Cuba I was on list but settled before my # was called.  I made specialist E 5 in 13 months. so see I was doing my job.  or at least my superiors thought so.Have a great day

Good morning everyone, well I do not think I will have windows open or the AC on. It is rainy and in the low 50's.  Maintenance man told  us yesterday that he turned the heat on so might be checking to see if it is. Feels chilly in here this morning, grabbed my winter robe when I got up and it feels so good.

LARRY you sound like me. Every time I have to go out  the next day I cannot do much more than lay on the couch and watch TV. About the only times I go out anymore are to appointments. I do like the single portion meals I get from Schwan's, one thing i like is there are no preservatives in them. I did make spaghetti sauce Monday with the tomatoes my son gave me from his garden and Tuesday an apple crisp with some of the apples he gave me. Needless to say my CNA's helped with both of them. Wednesday when CNA came she looked at me and told me to get on the couch and stay there. Have enough of the sauce in the freezer to just about take me through the winter. Yesterday she cooked me some pasta and warmed up the container of sauce there was no room for in the freezer, tasted so good. O have tried just about all the different canned sauces and just cannot eat it. Nothing beats home made and this was made with fresh tomatoes, not canned.

CAROL  Happy belated anniversary.

SANDY  no matter what disaster and how many thing people lost there always seems to be looters. What can they do with TV's and such when they have no homes and no electricity. Those looters will rot in hell one day. From what I saw on TV yesterday they are having a problem getting the supplies to those who are stranded because of the destruction there.

JUNE  it is wonderful how now you get to see Gay and Dori so often.  So glad you did move closer to them.

AMY  I did turn the thermostat up and I am starting to feel the heat, feels wonderful this morning.

JANE  it is now up to 54° here according to the TV but very damp. This town used to have an Art festival every year but no longer do. One town has one over Columbus day weekend that people from all around set up at and it is always crowded there and at times people have to park about 2 miles away  to get there.

LLOYD  good morning.

JOY  I used to be a morning person but the older I get the longer it takes me to get going in the mornings. Enjoy your day, sounds like a wonderful time every year.

Good Morning Everyone!

Nice dry morning out and saw the sun peeping out.  Suppose to get into the 80's.  Wish I was in good enough shape to get outside and work in the yard, going to be one of those days you are glad to be alive.

Larry like you I plan on watching some football this afternoon, but, I have an ATT tech coming to work on my DVR or more than likely just replace it.  Which means I will have to reprogram all the shows in again.

Janie, can I slip over for coffee and bring my pot to share?  Sound like you are going to have a whopee day with all the bells and whistles and the kids as an added attraction.  I know you will have a good time along with them.

Amy old Jack Frost is at your door for sure.  I think you said the other morning was already at zero, brrrrrrr.  I know that wood pile till start to disappear pretty quick.
Not sure what the temp is here, but nothing like yours, but it is nice and cool out.  I stuck no nose out when I let Lady out to check the estate.  She is now here with me laying behind me sound asleep.  She is a gentle, loving old soul.

Well coffee is almost ready so I am off to get a cup, everyone have a great day.  For those who want a cup, you are welcome.

Hal:  Thanks, my coffee is ready here.  Enjoy whatever game you are going to watch.

Joy: Have you every found something called "silk" longies?  they are usually sold in ski shops but so nice for chilly rooms or going outdoors.

Sandy:  And, all the lost documents of ownership.  The list of losses is so bad - plus so many had little in the first place.  Remembering when we saw all the Fema trailers in Texas - they can't get any to the islands very easily.

Lloyd:  You made E5 very quickly.

Gloria:  thank you - we went out for breakfast and I had lemon sauce over pancakes - so different, so nice.

It was 40 degrees when I rolled out of bed at 6:30 am and it's in the high 50s now, I think.  It still is sweater weather which is nice.  I've had the heat on several times, even in the summer, but now I have it set to go on whenever it wants to.

The first weekend in June our city has what started out to be an art festival but has derived into a food festival.  There are some art projects, but food predominates.  Most churches have the booths, but some companies too.  Right now, we are having ArtPrize which draws people from all over the world and it is juried.  It lasts for about three weeks and is very well attended - by others, not me.

Tom has a CPAP but I don't think it talks to him.  On the other hand, I've never asked him.  He likes it for another reason than helping him sleep - it keeps out the outside noises.

Joy, your family gathering sounds like fun and I know you'll enjoy it.

A good last Saturday in September HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

JOY & JANE, both of your outings today sound delightful! ENJOY.

I am feeling a bit down today......so much at one time then nothing!  I have no business to complain, but I am 😪😪

Thursday we got up and got on the road at 7:30, headed for the famous Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.  Met Bob's cousins from Alabama for a fancy buffet breakfast.  Ate way too much, of course,  but it sure was nice.  Then we went up to see their beautiful rooms.  Wow, that hotel is something else.   Then we headed for Manatou Springs and got on the cog rail to the top of Pikes Peak.  What a climb.....it was fun, but the area was socked in with fog and clouds so we did not have the best views.  There was snow, of course and most everyone was feeling a bit woozy as the air is mighty thin up above 14,000 feet.  It was quite fun.  We went back to the hotel and had lunch and a tour around the beautiful grounds.  It was quite the treat.  I loved being there and seeing it, but my pocketbook was sure happy we did not spend the night!

Yesterday we got our flu shots.  Last night I was really feeling puny......maybe just tired from all our excitement...... but I am better today.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Jenny

This is Saturday, isn't it ? I know it was supposed to be a day "off" for me, with the exception of a hymn sing at 6:30 this evening. I woke at 4a.m. dozed a bit till my med. girl came at 6a.m. Had a chat with her about delaying my "patch" till after I took my shower, so we have it all arranged. The new patch is far easier to remove than the old style, so I wanted to make sure I could wait and apply it myself after the shower. Plus I can always take one late in the evening after the patch comes off, but I prefer mornings. So that is done.

Did some extra Bible reading while I dried up from the shower,  then went for a walk, a visit to the library, and an early lunch. Brought home enough food to reheat for supper, then more reading and more napping. I can't seem to get enough sleep.

Larry, I was interested in reading that you too, found singing in Choir bothered your breathing, so I am encouraged to quit the Christmas Choir also. I few hymns on Sunday are fine but an average hour of constant singing just about leaves me passing out.

Janie, I am so happy to read that Mickie is recovering so nicely from the dental surgery. I wish we humans could do the same. We think too much.

Joy, your message came through bright and cheerful this morning. I wish we could read the minds of these machines, and why they do the things the do to frustrate us.I hope you have a good time at the party today.

Hal, what age is your Lady dog ? We have had so many dear pets down through the years. It always takes a piece of our heart when we have to say good bye to them.

Jenny, I got my flu shot last Wed. and find that I have a bruise on my arm. Can't recall that ever happening before and the bandaid had quite a large splot of blood on it.

This week has sure passed by in a hurry. tomorrow is Sunday again, and our new Chaplain will start his second Sunday of duties. It must be difficult to step into shoes that have had 15 years of previous experience. I wish him God's great Blessings.

I'm home for good tonight.  My daughter and granddaughter picked me up around 11:30 and we picked up Cindy's niece's little girl and all 6 of us went to the arts festival.  I didn't buy anything but everyone else did.  Lots of nice people and I ran into an old friend that I haven't seen in many years.  That was a nice time.

After that Cathy and Cindy went to a memorial gathering for one of their friends and the rest of us walked though town, stopping wherever we felt like stopping and then walked back to Cathy's house.  Some of them went to the tailgate party at the football game while Christy and I took a nap and Cindy got ready for her class reunion.  Then those who didn't go to the football game went out for Chineese.  I'm home but my car went out for the evening.

As soon as I make dog food, I'm going to bed.  Just writing all that makes me tired all over again.

Good Night my friends.  Sleep well and may God bless us, every one.

Good morning everyone..

Wow, where did September go???

Thought I could sleep in this morning but the pup had other ideas. She wiggled up beside my back and when I let out a long sigh she started!! First she lay across my back peering into my face, I know this as her whiskers tickled my face,Next her nose poked under my arm and then the cold nose on my face. She knew that once I stated to giggle she had done her deed so up we got.

Yesterday was laundry day and the line was full of bedding that blew out nice. Another line full of fabric that I washed and you could heard it snapping in the wind.  Got another load of wood for the house and then cut the grass so today is a day of rest

Jane sounds like a fun and full day you had.

Joy, your day also sounds fun.

Bet both you ladies slept well last night!

Carol, never thought of having a lemon sauce on pancakes bet that was good.

Gloria, we have a fire on here this morning, guess that will be normal for here on to next Spring.

Hal, our pines are just dropping their needles here and I will rake them up once they are all down.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, I am up and at it early for me. It is 41° and the heat is on and warming me nicely. I am here with my coffee, any one want to join me? Tastes good is I do say so myself. Have the local news on and they are talking about wild weather over night. If it was in this area I did not hear anything. In the southern part they had a bad thunderstorm and lightning hit a barn and a fire resulted. Happy October.

HAL even after all the years without one I still miss having a dog. At least at the apartment I had in my son's house his dog came upstairs with him every day and I loved that. There are a few here that have small dogs they walk around and some do stop at everyone they see for some petting.

CAROL  hmm, lemon sauce over pancakes? That sounds like something different and I would love that, love lemon.

JENNY  looks like you had a great time enjoying the luxury at Broadmoor Hotel. We will get our flu shots here at the end of the month. So nice that a nurse comes here with the shots so we do not have to go anywhere for them. All we have to do is sign up if we want one so she knows how much to bring. She is the daughter of our about to be 100 year old resident. She is still lively and walks around the parking lot every day and her mind is sharp. The lady who turned 100 in June is now living with her daughter in Arizona and we all miss her.

JUNE  several in my family had beautiful voices but I am not one   of them. If I was to sing everyone would tell me to shut up.

JANE  glad you had a good time yesterday. I can imagine you were tired after all that walking.

AMY  enjoy your day of rest.

I'm up but not sure I'm attem yet.  The doggies have had their pill and were waiting that time.  I have my first cup of coffee and I'll be having my second sup when HAL get around to it.

I have to get myself around because the girls told me they'd let me know what we're doing today.  I guess that means there are more activities in the planning stage for today.  I'm sure glad I'm on vacation because I'll be able to rest up after they leave.  Sure don't want to miss anything while they're here!

Daughter Cindy and granddaughter Courtney will be going back to daughter Christy's in Maryland sometime this evening.  Cindy will be catching a plane back to Texas sometime Monday morning and Courtney has to work.  Guess Christy is taking Cindy to the airport.

JOY, I hope it wasn't too cold for your gathering yesterday.  And I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I enjoyed mine.  I bet you did!

AMY, one of the things I miss the mosts is laundry flapping on the line on a winday day.  There were lots of natural compensations for the things we didn't have when we were growing up and that's one of them.  The smell of woodsmoke is another.  Someone around here has a wood fire on cold days.  I smell it when I'm out with the dogs and I miss that, too.

JENNY, I'm sorry you had a "BLAH" day but I hope your visit with friends made up for it.  Sometimes we have to have the blahs so we can appreciate the good stuff that we are given.  I'm sure you already know that.  You have so many blessings with your children and your friends and family!

Good Morning GLORIA, you sneaked up on me!

I hope you all have a good day filled with whatever it is you wish for.  Take it and make it yours.  Tuck it into your memories to pull out later.  ENJOY!!!

Hi Everyone.  We are going to have a much cooler day today, which is sure welcome.  I expect this to be our normal Sunday with Sunday School and Church and then out to lunch.  Hopefully another couple from our Sunday School class will be able to join us for lunch.  The rest of the day will be one of rest.

Lloyd, I have no problem with anyone who served in our military getting veteran's benefits.  You would have gone if called up for duty in a troubled area.  It takes a lot of support from others for those that do face battle.  It sounds like you did your job very well and your good work was recognized with promotions.

Gloria, nice to see you have the heat on in your apartment building.  You will enjoy your tomato sauce in the months ahead.

Hal, I hope they just replaced your DVR. Glad you had a nice day and hope your back pain is much lessened.

Carol, your mentioning the loss of important documents in the floods makes me remember I need to scan those I keep in my desk and get them up on the cloud.  I have a scan app now on the phone that should make the job pretty easy.  I have never heard of having lemon sauce over pancakes but bet that would be tasty.

Mary Ann, there was a man who used to attend our Church and the weekly Bible study that was an artist and he participated in the art festival in your town.  He told me about how it was all spread out in many different locations.  I wear my Bose headphones all night to help block out the noises in our house and that we can hear from I-20 since we live off of a frontage road and the noise can be heard in the background.  The headphones are very comfortable and other than making my ears warm they are very comfortable even when I turn my head to the side.  Fortunately, they turn themselves off after a time period when no sound is transmitted through them.  I have found that listening to an audio book is a good way to put me to sleep.  I do set bookmarks and a timer to be sure I don't get too lost when I have to go back to find my place that I last remember in the story.

Jenny, I think most of us have some down days most of the time.  Nice to read about your wonderful time in Colorado Springs.  We have taken the cog rail to the top of Pikes Peak.  I don't think I could stand that altitude anymore.  I get need to get my flu shot, which I can from the Walmart Pharmacy.

June, knowing how tired you are getting now I have wondered how you could handle choir practice.  It sounds like a good idea to put your nitro patch on after the shower.

Jane, nice to see you enjoyed the fair and the time with your family.  It sounds like it was a very full day.

Amy, your pup sure knows what to do to get you up.  I have always loved the smell of fresh laundry that had been hung outside.  I had forgotten about the whipping sound of the sheets and other things in the wind.

🎃O🎃C🎃T🎃O🎃B🎃E🎃R🎃

Here we are in the fourth quarter of 2017!  My goodness this year certainly has passed quickly.

AMY, I enjoyed reading your description of your wake up call this morning.  Our little love ones sure are a blessing to us.  Yes, I suppose you are right that you will more than likely have a fire every morning now until spring.  Thankfully you have all that wood chopped and ready for use.

JANE, I hope what ever is on the agenda for today with the family is fun for all.

GLORIA, sure happy they got your heat turned on so you, too, can be comfy in the mornings.

No real plans for the day.......the Broncos play the Raiders at 2:15 here in Mile High Stadium, so we will watch them.  Might go over to Brian's and watch it, as Cathy is flying off to New York today, as she is going to the stock exchange to ring the closing bell tomorrow.  Quite exciting for her!

I wish you all a wonderful Sunday.

Jenny

Good Day to Everyone!

We are back from church and coffee with friends afterward.

Not been a totally good morning.  Wife was running late and she had greeting and I tried rushing to church and ended up getting a ticket for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign.  Which made me even later.  And will lighten the old pocketbook somewhat.
My fault.

Amy, my pup doesn't try to crawl into bed with me or wife.  She is more a teenager, she wants to sleep in most of the time.  She wont get off her bed till she sees one of us open the patio door and the she will come to the door to go out and take care of business.

It is a beautiful day out, lots of sunshine and cool temps.

Larry, I took the cog railway to top of Pikes Peak, it was a nice ride but I was disappointed with the condition of the place at the top.  Junky and dirty.  I would have thought it would be spiffed up for us tourist.  That was many moons ago when cell phones first came out and we managed to find a signal and called home just for grins and to say we did.  We noticed lots of people driving to the top.

I hope everyone has a great day.

I'm home for the day!  It was a wonderful day.  All the girls went antiquing.  We have some intriguing antique shops in our town and even if you don't find something that you can't live without, it's fun to look and remember and dream.

Then we dropped Christy off at her friend's for a visit and the rest of us went back to Cathy's and loafed around on her patio.  While we were talking, we forgot that there were some things we wanted to grab at WM so we took off to get them.  By the time we finished, it was time to go back and get Christy, pick up Cindy's friend and meet the rest of our gang at THE FENCE for supper.  I not only had all four of my kids in the same town, I had them all at the same table for dinner!  What a treat for this old lady!  Cindy, Courtney and Christy are probably on their way to Christy's house in Maryland and Cathy is at home.  Son Philip and TLH dropped me off at home and I'm about as tired as any old lady can get.  But I'm also about as HAPPY as any old lady can get!  Now I'm going to feed the dogs and relax.

HAL...remember the ol saying "Haste makes waste"?  I think you might have proved it today!

Good late afternoon, been watching the President's Cup from NJ, Love seeing that Skyline, what a lovely sight to see while playing golf.
To day is a little on the cool side, but bright sun

Gloria, did you have a Hail storm yesterday, at first I was wondering what was hitting the windows, Was a cold rainy day.

Marilyne, I still watch the Ed Sullivan show, also Carol Burnett comes on at 11:30 every night in the week in NY As I wrote before I also watch Johnny Carson interesting a lot of the shows are from late 70,s

to early 80's. The actors are so young.  ONe night Eddie Murphy said one thing you will never see is a black president.

MaryAnn, when we had the old antenna we had a one legged sea gull that would set up there, he came back for a couple of years.  I have been to high tea at the Waldorf in NYC and the out here on the Island and of course there was no comparison.

I am finishing this post two hours later, as company came in and spent the rest of the afternoon

Larry, MaryAnn or Hal did you see the Presidents golf when the 3 presidents were on, I thought that was great.

Jane, I am so happy to see you had such a great day.

Gloria D, I did not see the three presidents at the beginning; I wish I had.  I did see Trump present the President's Cup to Steve Stricker.  I don't understand match play so I didn't pay a lot of attention to it, but from all reports it was a good game.  I was glad the Americans won because they haven't been so fortunate in the Ryder Cup which will be played next year.

It has been on the cool side here today but my computer did read 70 degrees at one time.  It really was very comfortable and I was able to wear a sweater to church this morning.

I am in to say Goodnight. I did get to Church this morning but so tired I came straight home and have done nothing but nap and read. I wanted to do my monthly grocery order but so far, it is not done. Hoping I will get it done now, then have a light supper and off to an early bed. If I don't get back, have a Blessed night and a happy tomorrow. Hugs and love and prayers, June

I guess I am better late than never.   Just getting around to finally write a message before it is  tomorrow.

I slept in a little bit, and then got busy writing checks for this month's bills and then got involved in going through a bunch of junk mail and that took quite a while. I had a whole bunch of stuff to put in the shredder and the recycling bin.  I thought while I was going through  some things I might as well get it all done at the same time.

The party yesterday was very nice.  The weather could have been a little warmer, but we all managed to stay warm.  When the sun was out, it was really nice, but when it clouded over, it felt almost like a winter's day.  My daughter-in-law found some lap robes and a couple afghans that we "old people" put over our legs.  And, my son has several of real tall propane heaters that he brought up on the deck where we were and that really helped.  A lot of the younger ones were still running around with shorts and tee-shirts.

There wasn't as many people as there usually is, and I am sure the "iffy" weather made a big difference in some of their decisions not to come.  However, there was a lot of good food .  My son supplies all the drinks..... soda, wine, and beer and the hot dogs, hamburgers and pit beef. Everybody brings a covered dish or appetizer or a dessert. There was a good variety of hot and cold food.   Most all the food and appetizer were gone, but several beef roasts were left over.  They have 2 big freezers, so they won't go to waste.  The nice couple that they hire to help were kept busy all day.  They always stay until everything is cleaned up.  My son usually has a little bit of cleaning up outside the next day, but most everything is done by the time the helpers leave.  There are always some friends and neighbors  that stay after everybody else leaves and I am sure they wind up eating again.

It was nice to catch up with some friends and relatives that I don't get to see very often,   I got home a little after 7.

Today was a really pretty sunny day with no wind.  Still a little chilly, but the weather forecast for the rest of the week says it will be back in the 70's and low 80's by the end of the week.  I have a wedding on Saturday, so hope the weatherman doesn't change his forecast.

Hal, I am so sorry that your day didn't start off too good.  I think you should have just gotten a warning, since you were on your way to church.

Jenny, yes, it sure doesn't seem like the year is almost over. I just don't know what happened to summer.  It just seemed to disappear.  I am not ready for the cold or snow just yet.  The winters seem to drag by so slow.

Jane, I am so happy to read all about your wonderful week end with your family.  Sounds like you were quite busy and did a lot of fun things.  So nice that you all could all get together for supper.   The Fence sounds like such a neat place.  Hope the girls have an uneventful trip back to Frederick.  I am sure you are tired, but it is a "Happy TIred".  You can rest up tomorrow as I think you mentioned that you are on vacation.  Enjoy your time off !!!

Almost time to get myself ready to watch some TV and then go to bed.  Nothing exciting planned for most of the week.

Have a good rest of the evening.

Joy
