Pat:  If your relatives are still farming, bless them!  It is so dry everywhere - a disaster.  I cannot remember how many states get water from the Colorado river - it is not producing enough for everyone.

I guess my gripe would be - people should stop building pools in their yards, stop growing the green grass that needs so much moisture, etc.  My biggest gripe is:  developers still grading everything to to build homes and then the entrance has a "water feature".

Another gripe while I am at it:  the city crooks (politicians) pushing for winter Olympics when we are in a huge downturn in the snowfall area.

Pat:  How can I complain about housework after your description?  I can truly see that it is tough work - even what I have done over the years has seemed to be exhausting some days.  It never was day after day though.  I hope you have some help - any little help is welcome at times.

My gripe:  Driving in the city of Denver --- it is clogged and there seems to always be someone whipping through & changing lanes thinking they will get there faster.  Must always get ahead of the vehicle in front - just to stop at the next red light.  Don't forget - lights turning red mean speed up and race through it.  Housing is totally out of control - we could sell our place in ten minutes but "where would we go"?  Should I tell them that those cute Prairie Dogs carry the Bubonic Plague?  That is true!

Sipping coffee - we sat up around 4:30 AM for at least an hour - Don did not feel well and thought he might have taken one extra bedtime pill.  So, we waited - then, I did go back to sleep and made it until after 7 AM.

I am getting ready for a free house-cleaning tomorrow.  Our oldest son knows a friend who is starting a business and they tested the crew on my house a few months ago.  Our son uses our place when he has appointments in Denver and he wanted to do them a favor as well as treat me.   :smitten:

Amy:  We drive at least a long in time to the VA but the streets are totally clogged now with newcomers.  Insane drive.  Fires are the tragic word here in Colorado this year.  A couple was arrested & sentenced for shooting and starting a fire that wiped out many houses.  I can't keep up with the destruction.  One son has a cabin/house near Rocky Mountain National Park - (look it up) near Grand Lake.  There was a fire that came close but thankful to the fighters they stopped it.  Terribly sad this year.  Sorry that you don't have time for shopping.  Do you do any online shopping?

Lloyd:  Your workmanship is just beautiful.  That is a treasure for years to come!  Don makes small things like pens.

Larry:  We like a quiet church service on Saturday nights - then, we drive close to a Chick-Fil-A and they have small portions and great chicken.

Gloria de:  So sorry to read about your trip to the ER.  It must have been exhausting for you.  I do hope all is under control now.

This is one of the first cooler days in weeks with a change of rain tonight.  Normally, there is a summer monsoon time but that has been absent for quite a few years.

The calendar isn't full this week but sure has heck, it will fill up fast.  I did get a bit of sewing in this afternoon.  It is a hobby I should drop but I do cherish that older Bernina machine.  I have an older Viking in Tucson and also a Singer Featherweight.  You would be surprised at how many machines my friends keep.  The featherweight is from the 1940's and it has a certain clickety clack sound to make it a therapeutic time for me.  Makes me think of mom.

One grandson called and he told us he is really busy putting up windows after a hail storm - they hired him because:  he is an Eagle Scout!  He is full time school and full time work guy.  All our grands work and go to university full time - This one had to change his major because a counselor gave him wrong advice (this happens too often).

Rammel:  Thank you for mentioning I am not paranoid.  We have ALEXA and use it often mostly to bring special music into the house.  Our daughter is suspicious of ALEXA and in her line of work for a tech company from home - she won't have it in the their house.  We have nothing to hide - or, at least we think that way today.

Bubble:  As fast as anything is invented, all over the world the lazy crooks want our money and information so they can sell it off.  I am glad to read that Radioman Don is recuperating - I will check in on another site.

For any phone call, I ask right up front - Who is calling, please?.  We have friends and relatives all over plus Don has the VA call and that can be a recording, so many things.

Gloria de:  You may be a bit shorter but your mind and soul are in fine shape.  Hugs

I am pretty sure that our Military Intelligence could clear up everything for us as to snooping on our information - because of our freedoms, this will never take place in our time.  As for email trash - I check several daily for SPAM and that will alert the server to look into the issue.  At least, I hope they keep up with SPAM.

Radioman Don"  It is so nice to read your note - take care.

Roley:  I do hope the hot weather passes quickly so all in your area are comfortable again.  Our granddaughter is in London for a school session - she really liked visiting Edinburgh. She is taking Economics at the same school her mother went to years before and I wish I could visit her too.

Jane:  Glad that your painful night is over.  I hope you get the work time you wish and sending special vibes to you so the customers will be happy and grateful for your service.

Jenny:  Do  you remember the "Tunnel of Fudge" cake mix?  I made it for company and flipped the pan on a plate without cooling it - we all had to jump out of our chairs because the river of fudge spread all over the table and leaked onto the floor.  Our good friends from Leadville always talked about that episode.   /b]

Bubble:  I am glad you were able to contact Radioman Don's son.  Agreeing with Jenny that it would be good to have a monitor on him.  Sorry that he was on the floor for such a long time.

Jenny:  It sounds like your dad is recovering nicely.  Such a relief for you.  Yep, this heat is unbelievable - I just listened to the update from Grand Lake and as of last night the fire was 60% contained.  Son's beautiful "cabin" is not far from a volunteer fire department - he keeps trees away from the house but a fire would devastate Rocky Mountain  Park.  Son actually lives in Montana and he flew back yesterday - we were in the wild drive to the airport.   :(

This morning, we had five deer - all bucks - in the yard and ravine.  For three hours.  We see them on occasion plus fox and twice cougars have been spotted.  Never elk here - we used to see elk herds in the foothills but growth has stopped their visits.

Jane:  How nice you had a daughter visit.  It is so special to spend time with the children.

Now I hear the owl calling - have never see it but it is certainly at home nearby.

Update:  I did have a free and final yearly exam with my favorite doctor.  She wants to meet for coffee -

After reading ratings of doctors on the new insurance plan, I found a nearby younger doctor who is tied into the University system (that is great news) and was told that there was one opening for one patient - me.  Such a load lifted.  She asked the right questions and I am impressed once again. Further, being in this system gives me a greater list of specialists.

Another mystery solved today - I told everyone that my old laptop croaked when someone spilled something on it--- so that someone bought a newer HP with Windows 10.  So much adjusting & I am getting 4 to 6 emails from another country but could not get those blocked.  Got online with Hewlett Packard and they did not know what I was trying to do.  Don came through - we put my old Yahoo mail under bookmarks - Windows 10 changed the Yahoo mail and I did not see any BLOCK in the menu.

All is good now.  It should not have been this difficult.

Jenny:  Great that your dad is already in rehab.  I hope it isn't because the hospital try to meet quotas of care.  They would not want him to be returned to hospital, that is for sure.

June:  You can take as much vacation as you like - well deserved!

Taking a break from cleaning drawers - first in the bathroom and in the closet.  All those little samples are going to be donated.

Jane:  I really like walking in the snow and own old-fashioned snowshoes.  My parents had a cabin in the deep woods by a creek and we all pulled a sled with food for Thanksgiving.  I like driving in snow too - miss the thump thump of the road.  Now, of course, it would be foolish to drive in the snow as few people know how to control their vehicles.

Don has been helping our friend and was able to install Ooma for her, it means she will pay far less for long-distance calls.  We have used it for years and take it with us if going for some time.

Jenny:  Thank goodness, we missed the hail.  So sorry to learn that your dad had fallen.  Perhaps because he did not have a total hip replacement, he may heal faster.  It sounds like he is well cared for and will need rest at this time.  Hawaii does sound exotic and great for lifestyle but... everything has to be shipped there and it is terribly expensive.  This means you can be closer to the newest baby due....when?

It is nice to "see" everyone again.  I am learning a different laptop as my old one bit the dust.  The keyboard is not centered and my hand wants to roam - why would the "experts" do that except to annoy.

I have been in several earthquakes and one pretty big one in Seattle.  We had earthquake drills in school but that never happened in school.  The entire fireplace fell apart in the house and there was so much dust.  Earthquakes in Colorado too but they were pretty mild.

Today's storm is going north, perhaps.  Yesterday, there was a lake in the ravine - it did finally drain.  The slow cooker had chicken teriyaki simmering all day - it was OK.  Saturday, we had two of the boys here for oven-baked ribs (5 hours at 200 degrees) and they were nice - plus a bean casserole that I have made for decades.  Next week, another son will be staying for  a couple of nights.

Larry:  The huge evergreen tree is taller than the house.  Tons of birds have nests in there.  At the corner - everyone must turn either right (to get out of the development or left for other homes.  There are a few senior citizens who have accidentally driven straight almost into the sidewalk and fence across the street.  They should not be driving unless they do intend to stop at the stop sign.  I should take a video of the careless ones still driving.

Someone - not naming - bought a Roomba (the self vacuum) and it is really interesting.  It made a noise the other day and I said, "come in" thinking a neighbor or son was at the door.  So, I need to name this critter that wants to stop under the bed - looking all over the house for it some times. This way, I can vacuum every other day and it does a great job.  It doesn't do laundry yet.

Success today for finding a new doctor and I am set up this next week.

One son took a picture of a deer relaxing in the yard nearby - I haven't seen any in the ravine this year and no coyotes are howling either.  Rabbits galore.

Three friends and I are going to view their husband's graves at Ft. Logan this morning.  We will be going early because of thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon.  Typical here.

Shirley:  Safe travel to you - I know you and Jenny keep in touch.  I live withing walking distance to her.

Gloria de:  That is a big park.  I think there are a lot of good things to belong to a group and sometimes there are not so nice ideas about it.  Here, a couple of people want the huge evergreen tree taken out - it is at the corner next to our house.  I love it and the tons of birds love it as well.  Always something to be crabby for some people.   :)

Jane:  I always think of you when we shop at WM - wishing you happy and considerate people in your line.

Gloria:  I too like Southwest colors and we painted Don's office room a rust color that goes nicely with his wood hangings, etc.  The rest of the house is painted warm - I would say golden beige and accented with rust and splashes of teal or a bit of orange red.  The house was all white (not clean) with even white carpet when we moved in and now everything is changed.  It looks sunny even on an overcast day.

Tomorrow, we will meet our youngest son's latest rescue German Shepard.  It sounds like he is really sweet.  I hope so - never forgot the meeting with the one named Cochise - who jumped on me, I thought I would die right there from a heart attack.

We stayed in yesterday because of pending storm - there was some small hail but all passed quickly.  Just enough to ruin any picnics and visits to the cemetery.  We will take our neighbor to the Fort cemetery when weather and appointments calm. Today is another VA appointment  and this is different because it is in the afternoon.

One DIL is driving back  from  Texas today - she had to take care of her mother's affairs - her sister living in TX does nothing.  Sounds like what I had to do with my parents affairs.

Larry:  I have compiled a list of recipes for an Instant Pot but have not decided if I want another thing in the cabinets. --Two inches of rain is a lot.  I hope it doesn't bring mosquitoes.  I only sew with cotton and now working on batik southwest colors of rectangles.  All leftover fabric - you see, I need to keep on using the stored fabric.

This week, we will visit youngest son and meet the latest rescue German Shepherd - Zuus or whatever.  Looks like a big Teddy Bear.  They have acreage and live only ten minutes from us - or what used to be ten minutes is now ghastly because of all the migration here.

Not feeling up to par yesterday so I did binge watch WWII movies - am a history buff and I even took a class in WWII history once.

June:  I am glad to hear that you are mending.  Take it easy.

Shirley:  Have a safe trip up the hill.  There is traffic gridlock here now - it is downright horrible to get across or around town.

Gloria:  When you say Illegal, we know what that is from living closer to the southern border 7 months per year.  It is not only people from Mexico and Central America - there are many from mid-east countries who go first to those areas, change their names & learn Spanish only to come across the border - legally and illegally.  One of the great danger is from the campfires that get out of control and cause damage and loss of cattle, even farms. There is so much more the American public has no idea.  We know some families who came from Mexico - great and gracious folks.  Canada has to  put up with the illegals from our country crossing their border.  It is a law and some enforce the law and others let it slide.

We knew a family across the street once - their youngest was drinking from a baby bottle and she was in kindergarten with one of our children.  I think the child figured out she was the only one that age -

Sandy:  I agree about the day-care - who are they to set down a rule so traumatic to a child?  The little girl would change just by seeing what is happening with all the others.  That would have been better.

I have a physical this afternoon with my doctor.  It is free because the clinic changed to a new insurance only that does not cover anyone going out of the state.  I must change my insurance and will lose her as my primary care doctor.  Just dread finding someone else.  Jenny knows what I mean because the same thing happened to her with the same physicians group.  She (doc) graciously said she wanted me to come in and have my physical at no cost.  That is my great and good news today.  Don made a pen for her to have as a going away gift.  At least I will have my prescriptions renewed.

Amy:  You could train a beaver to cut and stack wood.

Tomorrow is my annual physical with my doctor. She will only continue the annual physical so I must find another doctor in my insurance plan.  The office she works with has opted to change to a plan that does not insure anyone stepping over the state line.  She is keeping a handful of patients only - so happy that I have known and chatted with her over the years.

Health care is very expensive - there are more than a few hospitals in this country which have been subsidized for decades.  One hospital on the Texas border has never broken even - because poorest of the poor women walk over the border to have good care and they have never even seen medical care in Mexico.  That is only one example - someone has to keep the hospital going.  I certainly do not blame the poorest of the poor.

Amy:  I hope you can get a better price on the wood and have it delivered  and stacked as well.  Quilt group is coming here tonight - 7 out of the 9.

Gloria:  R & R --- rest and recuperate.  I hope today is better for you.

Joy:  Sorry for your diagnosis but so glad that meds will cure you.

June:  you always write such positive notes  - I think it is getting so overcrowded that is changing manners.  Even school children are not taught the simple things of yesterday - sit down and don't talk - behave - say Thank You.  etc.

Jenny:  Don is going to make a pen for Dr. B.  - I had an appointment there today for a blood draw but had to go to a different site because of my other insurance - total time was about 4 hours of waiting in two offices.  Happy it is over.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate her going beyond care for me.

DON:   HAPPY LANDING!!!!

Bubble:  Take care -we all wish you wonderful days with your family.

Yesterday was a big flub. I baked two loaves of banana bread only to find them collapsed & weird.  Apparently, I must have turned the oven off when I set the time.   :crazy2:  The treats for tonight are from Safeway bakery and look pretty good.  Sun tea is ready - I make mine on the southern part of the deck - just like I learned in Texas.

When checking into one lab this morning, a machine did all the work.  there goes another job.  Don has been using machines somewhat like this at the VA for quite some time.  This one printed out instructions for me.  And, I like to talk to a human.

Oldest son has a 'walking pneumonia diagnosis.   He has three days of checking - he lives at high altitude and we have been concerned.  No plane trips until this is over.

Jenny:  I was going to say that the doctors in Steamboat are really taking good care of him - they phone him to check and have him coming in for 3 days in a row.  They even call and make the appointments so he gets priority.  Some comfort in that for us.

Update on my post about losing my doctor. I had been told everything was alright with my different medical insurance - it would be honored.  I went in for a blood test prior to my actual check-up.  A very determined young woman (new) told me that it would not be honored.  So, I asked Don what should I do - and he told me to go back to the desk and ask to speak to my primary care doctor as she did promise to keep me on.  I did.  4 days later, the phone rang with the news I could still see my favorite doctor.  Cannot tell you how relieved I was with that news.  Sometimes, the right thing happens.

I wish everyone would do their research and have their problems solved.

I cannot remember if I wrote this before --- I had a call just a few minutes before closing time. Hurrah - my doctor is keeping me!  All because Don told me to explain the situation and to ask to have a call from my doc.  All the while - staying calm.  So very thankful as it would have meant a mess for me medication wise and so forth.

Jenny:  It is unbelievable how early the baby is detected.  How cute - arms raised like a peacemaker is coming.

June:  You deserve the tender loving care.

Lloyd:  eeek a mouse!

Amy:  Did you get the Singer?  I have a 1948 Featherweight and really do like to set it up - like the clickity clack sound.  A wonderful straight stitch too. It is always a privilege to spot a moose and we are so grateful to be able to visit Rocky Mountain National Park - tons of elk and occasionally a moose.  Now is the time to spot a calf - I sure miss having our place up there but the altitude was over 8,000 ft. and hard for Don.  We are talking about trying to visit their cabin - it sure would be a pleasure to walk in the woods again.

Larry:  Is Pat using the Instant Pot more often?  I can't decide - I would have to put away things - I do have two sizes of crock pots and use them often.

Gloria:  We will all be anxious for your six-month wait to be over.  WOW, that is just great someone spent that time with you -- without the tyrant.

There was no blood draw this morning - I was so shocked when the desk told me that they would not take my insurance (when my doctor agreed in December that she would put my insurance through.  So, I have a call into her.  Don says (he is the one to go to) that all they have to do is file a claim.

Trying to stay calm - I have insurance but no doctor.  Something is very wrong. The office wants me to buy the ins. they have changed to -- here is the rub.  It is worthless if you cross the state line.  What good is that?  We go to Cheyenne, Wyoming and New Mexico, etc.

I asked my doctor of many years to give me a call because I don't assume the new girl on the desk knows all the facts.  Never assume!

I had an almond croissant to help me calm down.  Thanks for caring.

Jenny:  Sorry about your cough or cold.  Allergies - I think we are allergic to the hoards of traffic.  Don had an omelet at K's and they put at least a half cup of broccoli in it - it comes that way if you don't say no broccoli.  That is kinda strange to me for being called the American omelet.

Gloria:  I hope you had a stress less day.

Reading all the notes - I wish everyone well and stay safe.

My Kindle Reader is not fully charging all night long - sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.  It cost $35 and knowing how much the batteries cost plus I wouldn't know how to fix that problem - this may be another search for a decent price.  Planned obsolescence.

Gloria:  I will check back later on you.

Lloyd:  "back in the saddle again"  -  take it a bit easy, please.

My Blood Draw is scheduled at 10 - sipping water.  Don will have to hand me a coffee and I may need to stop at Kneader's for a treat.  That is so late for me.

Amy:  I couldn't sew straight yesterday or something else was wrong so I spent a lot of time pulling stitches.  Nothing accomplished.

Shirley:  Have a stress-free day - I hope the wind cooperates.  We had wind last night and it shows on the deck.

Good morning Joy!

Callie:  Just for you--- Jenny and I sent Columbine seeds to share with you.  Glad you like them.

Oldest son and wife (along with their little doggie) are coming over the weekend to visit.  They will be eating out with friends so it will be easy.  And, we get to pet the sweet doggie.  I have a blood draw in the morning and next week the physical.  So glad that most of our calendar notes are almost finished.

A neighbor spotted a cougar in the ravine behind our houses yesterday - am on guard here.  Creepy.

We are meeting our granddaughter in Golden for an early lunch - thankfully, I wrote the time down as I was thinking it was an hour and half earlier and pushing Don to "get on with it" - my mistake.  I made a crock pot of clam chowder yesterday and we have enough for leftovers tonight.

Jane:  Sending you hot chicken broth with a dash of tabasco sauce.

Gloria:  So true that worrying is useless.

Joy:  We had all our children and two of their spouses. It is so special.

Larry:  It was a snow storm and probably ice on the roads - knowing Minnesota so well. It sure is getting hot fast this year -

Mycheal:  Your teaching basic money matters is so worthy.  I commend you for your volunteering.

Amy:  you had a well-deserved snooze on the swing.

Jenny:  This is the 2nd. cougar seen in the ravine since we have lived here.  No deer around this year.

Gloria:  Yum, loved your chocolate sharing.

Mycheal:  We called our grandson in SW Minnesota after reading all major roads were closed.  He is on a campus.  Spring is coming...

It is so nice to see Carolyn posting once again -

Jane:  We have a walk-out basement with large bed, a trundle bed, fireplace and two sofas.  A little kitchen area and a bathroom.  It has its own patio too.  However, most people only stay one night - except the family who visits my neighbors.  My neighbor/friend has a lot of family so one group stays here and we can't even tell anyone is in the house sometimes.

Carolyn:  We only see canned pumpkin until the months to October and so forth.  The combination of pumpkin and sweet potato sounds nice.

Gloria:  Stay warm and toasty.  It is damp and cool here for the next five days.

Last night, there was a crash at the local commuter airport (nearby and also I think is the busiest in the country).  I was on the deck trying to spot the multi-colored flashing lights of a drone searching the acreage.  An engine fell onto a house.  They never fly over our way -- we get the Air Force Academy planes once in a while - a tremendous sound near the mountains. Just sending their greeting :)
