Good Morning Everyone from the sunny and quite warm,  rocky coast of Maine.

Hi Joanie....

I am off today with Kelly to do our weekly day trip.
It is going to be a beautiful day here this morning,  so I am looking forward to getting out in it.

Jane, most certainly do pray for doggies and will keep both you and Annie in my prayers. They are our furkids and we love them as they love us, unconditionally. Gentle hugs for you as you wait to pick Annie up and bring her home.

Yes, I do know how it is to feed one and not the other and the other one is VERY food motivational.

I would tell you not to worry, but I know that is not going to happen as we all worry about our furkids.

Hi everyone on a cloudy and rainy morning here in South Carolina.  We had a nice shower early this morning and I don't know about the night as didn't stay awake to find out.  I have a batch of Sausage Muffins in the oven as Pat finished her last muffins this morning.  I am getting the process down to where it doesn't take very long and I put things away as I use them.  I am resting while they cook and later this morning want to make up some coleslaw, which I have mentioned for a couple of days.  If I feel up to it I plan on attending my Monday noon meeting but I have a couple of hours before needing to make that decision.

I did get to Sunday School and Church yesterday.  We had things here for lunch so didn't have to stop and get something to bring home.  After lunch I turned on Don's radio program and closed my eyes.  I don't think I heard all the pieces that were played but enjoyed what I heard.  I got up and watched the end of the golf match.  It was nice to see someone win on his 180 or 181st try.  That is determination.

I just read the following devotional thought this morning and want to share it for those who care to read it:

The Great Physician
(Author Unknown)

Welcome to the Great Physician
Office hours are as you come,
He's a Specialist in all problems
And His day is never done.

He can heal a heart that's broken
He can mend the spirit, too,
No matter what your ailment
He does have the cure for you.

His fee for service never alters
He serves rich and poor as well,
He's our one chance for Salvation,
He alone saves us from Hell.

There's no fee for services rendered
All He asks is that we believe,
That He bled and died to save us
And all His blessings we receive.

Do you have a special problem
That is troubling you this hour?
Then just simply leave it with Him
You can find no greater power.

Don't delay in seeking treatment
Please, my friend, don't hesitate,
For His office is soon closing
And He'll shut and lock the gate.

I wouldn't want you to suffer
While the Doctor's so close by,
Your whole life will be much better
If my Physician you will try.

In Case of Emergencies . . .

When You Have Sinned . . . Call Psalm 51
When You Deal with Fear . . . Call Psalm 34:7
When You Need Someone to Trust . . . Call Proverb 3:5
When Someone Comes Against You . . . Call Isaiah 54:17
When You Need Christian Assurance . . . Call Romans 8:1-30
When You Need God's Mercy . . . Call Psalm 56
When You Get Tired of Doing Good . . . Call Galatians 6:9
When You Get Angry . . . Call Ephesians 4:26
When You Feel like You Can't Go on . . . Call Philippians 4:13
When You Need Help . . . Call Psalm 121

Gloria, I had an email over the weekend telling me my Microsoft Windows license was expiring.  Since these license don't expire I knew it as spam.  Does your apartment building provide you wired telephone service?  If not plugging your phone into the wall wouldn't accomplish anything as you would need your own telephone line.

Jeanne, thanks for getting us started on our new week.  Grandma's hint to her grandson wasn't very subtle.  :)

June, I have an appointment with my cardiologist early next week. The angina has been so well controlled for so long that I am just not used to having it everyday as the last week or so. I saw the pictures and what a beautiful smile you have. Nice to see your family.

Don, hope you have a good trip home.  That was a good program you had selected for yesterday.  The four months have certainly gone by quickly.

Callie, for the last several years I have been keeping track of the books I have read or listened to as well as other books by the authors I like to be listened to if available in our library's audiobook site.  Just yesterday afternoon I reorganized that document and put it is alphabetical order as it had become a mess and hard to use. I do have concern about how much longer I am going to be here and able to do things to help Pat. I will just take things one day at a time and not worry about tomorrow (very much).

Shirley, sometimes I think if I slow down much more it would go backwards.  I just try to do a few things each day and when I don't feel like doing things I generally don't.

Joan, good morning.  Seeing your posting brightens an otherwise  dreary day here in South Carolina.  It just started to rain again.

JaneS, sure hope Annie comes through her surgery well.  Now see that there are complications.  At least she is under the vets watchful eye. As Amy says gentle hugs to you.

For sure we pray for our fur-babies, Jane.... and everyone else.  I always wonder how people manage without praying, someone more powerful than myself to lean on.

Great to see you, Joan... no limit to the prayers for your good health!

Nice devotional, Larry.  Love to hear how you make your coleslaw.

Mary Ann, sorry there is no recovery for Terry.  My husband had heart surgery at 58, his father & half brother both died at 58, so we felt like the surgery saved him.  Our kids are a little paranoid about the number, one already 61 but the boys aren't there yet.

Amy, Sandy, Lloyd, Junee, Jenny, glad to see y'all in & going strong.  Have a Marvelous Monday (thanks to Callie).....

Good morning everyone, nice day yesterday stayed out on the porch almost all afternoon, today is to be another warmer one.

AMY  thanks for starting my day with a laugh, yesterday you remarked about vacuuming and catching some of your Golden's feathers. Think she will be afraid of that machine now?

JEANNE LEE  thanks for this weeks graphic.  You are doing good filling in for Joan. I hope those therapists are the best because we need Joan back here. I know it is a lot of work and takes a lot of time to find all she posts here and you have other duties in S&F.

PHYLLIS  another wonderful graphic from you. Thanks.

DON  I wish you a smooth flight back to Canada tomorrow.

JEANNE  thanks for posting the links to June's photos.

JUNE  you are looking very happy in those pictures.  I knew that was Gary and Dore but wondered who the other lady was.

Just got a call, did not know the number so let the machine get it, from our town police department. Warning of another scam called spoofing. Those crooks can now some how can use your area code and ask for donations to police or fire departments. Hang up and call your local police. Makes one wonder if that is real.

JEANNE LEE  love that Visiting Grandma. I have one grandson that comes here but I will not tell him that, he works on my computer.

CALLIE  I have read all the Fern Michaels books that are in the library here. The books here are what the residents leave in the library. At times I wish I could get to the town library. If I could walk like I used to it would take 5 minutes to get there.

MARY ANN Happy Belated Birthday. Sorry to read about Terry. Seems always worse when a family member goes “home” before we do.

SHIRLEY  I do get here every morning but lately that is about all. Never get back here in the evening any more.

JOAN  good morning. So good seeing you. Hope you can be here for at least a good morning every day now.

JANE  I pray that Annie will come through in good shape today.

LARRY  no one knows how long we will be here.

I just wanted you to know I share my birthday with at least two prominent people, both deceased.  William Shakespeare was both born and died on April 23 - I don't know how old he was and I guess I don't care.  Shirley Temple was also born on April 23 in 1928, four years younger than I.  She died a few years ago.

So I am in distinguished territory.

Jane, I hope all goes well for Annie.

Gloria, thanks for the belated wishes and mention of Terry.  My oldest nephew, Tim, now deceased, used to say I would outlive everyone in the family.  He died, Norm died, now Terry is near death; I told Tom "TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!"  Tom is very heavy and only he can lose the weight.  His lady friend is after him more than I am and he pays more attention to her, so I hope he does lose weight.  I don't want him to go before I do, too.

Good morning everyone.

Janie, your pup is in my thoughts. And prayers.  Hope she is back home safe and sound.

Cool but beautiful morning here.

Larry, enjoyed your devotional.  Glad to know you are feeling better.  Long artibcmle in local paper about lack of big named players, sponsors are kinda unhappy.

I am using my. Ipad and hate typing on this thing.

Good Morning our beloved Bis, it is such a treat to come here and find a message from you. I pray you are healing nicely and will soon be home permanently. We need your smiling face and kind words.

Janie, I just said a prayer for your Annie. God loves little dogs as He loves all creatures great and small. I'm sure Mickie is very disturbed, they are so close at all times.

Mary Ann, my prayers are with you and the rest of the family. Larry has been ill for such a long time, it will be a blessing for him and the family to find his "homecoming" with God who loves him.

Joy, I wish I could send you some of our gentle sunshine. We to have some light clouds that occasionally dim the sunlight, but then when it breaks through again it is a treat.

Janie…..prayers continue. How old is your Annie ?

Sandy, enjoy your day to the fullest.

Larry, the devotional is perfect, thank you for sharing it with us. We never need feel alone or lonely, with God as our friend and guide. I will be praying for good news when you see your doctor. Do you have a pacemaker ?

I really enjoyed sharing the Choir pictures with you all, so you could meet my wonderful son and DIlove. They are SO good to me. And it is a delight to sit and sing next to my friend in choir. She is an Alto, I'm soprano, but we blend well. She gives me confidence.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Just found this.....neglected to post!  😥

I wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARYANN.  I am sorry to read that Terry is not well.  I know it must be hard to allow yourself to enjoy YOUR day with Terry doing so poorly.  Hugs to you.

Loved seeing the pictures that Jeanne Lee posted for you, JUNE. You look wonderful and it is good to see your friend as well as Dori and Gary.

DON, I know you are enjoying the last bit of your time with BUBBLE.  I am sorry for you both that the time to part is drawing near.  Hugs to you both.

LARRY, I do hope you are feeling much better now.

It was a perfect day here in Austin.  Our family will return tomorrow afternoon.  It will be good to have them back.  They say they have had a wonder time and are so thankful that we could be here with their doggie.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

My internet has been out for several hours. It just came back about an hour ago.

A belated birthday greeting to you, Mary Ann.  As you said, it is a bittersweet one.  I'm so sorry about your nephew.

Joan, it was wonderful to see your post and I hope that you are steadily improving.

Thanks, Jeanne Lee, for resurrecting one of my old graphics on the new SS yesterday.

Thank you Jennie and Phyllis for your birthday greetings and mention of Terry.  We have heard nothing today about him.  Geoff had to fly back to CA because of some business and I don't know if Erin is here or not.  She also has a job in Indps and she hasn't had it long.

Mary Ann,  I'm so sorry about Terry.  My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

Jane,  wishing the best for your Annie.

Safe travels, Don.

Larry,  I used to keep the check-out receipts from the library.  Finally got tired of keeping track of those bits of paper and started a list in a notebook.  When I began reading e-books,  I made a data base listing the ones from the notebook and adding the e-books as I went along.
I set  "Sort Records"  so the ones I add will be alphabetized by author's last name - and then by "Category", which is a column for series by one author in numerical order.
Took a while to get all of this done - but surely is easy now.
One reason for making the data base was that I borrow the e-books from the library and they "magically" disappear if I don't return them or renew them at the end of the borrowing time.
Now I think I'm about at the limit for one data base and it won't be long before I'll have to start a new one.

I had good intentions of doing some errands today but the weather changes are affecting my "squeaks and creaks" so I've done my Scarlett impersonation and will "think about it tomorrow".

Mary Ann, it is difficult for you waiting for news of Terry, I know. May God's Will be done.

I had a nice long telephone chat with my older son Dan. All is well in Santa Cruz where he and Nancy and five small dogs reside. I am so thankful for my family.

It is a beautiful day in Stanton, 72 degrees and a nice sun. I can hear my neighbors A/C running but I am comfy with just the windows open. She said she needs to have the air stirring.

My yawns are starting, so I may take a bit of a nap.......

Thank you, June.  I really thought he'd be gone by now and I think Tom thought so too.  Jan is head of a Hospice unit but she has Hospice for Terry so she has some relief.  She also has her parents to look after, both of whom are in beginning Alz's.  It doesn't rain but what it pours for some people.  Tom is (maybe already did) going to check about taking some food to them.  He's thinking a large pan of lasagna, frozen, that he would buy since I don't cook and I am not sure of his ability with lasagna.

Mary Ann, when there is a death in the family (or friends) or long illness, I started taking baggies of fresh veggies, as many different kinds (like celery, cucumber, carrot sticks, cauliflower, broccoli, slices of green & red peppers, even green onions & radishes, the little bite size tomatoes, and iceberg lettuce leaves torn into clumps.  This way they can either make salads, munch or stir fry.  Nobody has the time to clean veggies and these are ready to refrigerate the left overs. I seem to be the only one that sends this so they don't ever get too much.  I know you can buy trays but they don't have to find baggies to store left overs with my gift.  When my mother died a friend brought lasagna that tasted wonderful, it was ready to heat and serve.  I think grieving people appreciate food.

My grands all did "community service" in high school, required for all, and I thought it was such a good idea.  I even thought it would be a good idea if we could work it like we used to have the draft for military service....  have all people in their young years to do community service to "store" the points/hours of help for when we get older & need it.  I remember my father saying they had to do road work to vote.... anyone remember hearing about that?  Well, bedtime & I have cats waiting for their last snack of the day. Sweet dreams to all.  Shirley

Good morning Everyfriend!  Yesterday was NOT a good day!  When the vet did the pre-anesthesia blood work on Annie, they discovered that her liver enzyme level was extremely high.  Since this is the function that helps us fight infection and recover from anexthesia, they did not do the dental surgery.  They sent her home with medications and an appointment with the emergency center to get an untra scan.  We also have a return appointment in 2 weeks.

Mickie was overjoyed to see Annie back home!  She didn't know what to do with herself all day.  I don't know when this will all end but we do what we can for our fur kids, don't we.

I'll be off to Wally World this morning.  Wish me smiles!

I hope you all have a lovely day!  Ours will be rainy....again!

Good morning everyone.

Going to be a beautiful day here.Yesterday I snuck up on that pantry, opened the door and really cleaned it up and out!Had some pastry made so I made a lemon pie,put the rest into pie shells to freeze and what was left made cinnamon rolls .After lunch I found some of Janes zzzzz's and didn't let them go to waste.
The wind has blown down more pine cones so that job needs to be done.

Jane have a great day at work and hope everyone shares their smiles with you.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Shirley, thanks for the suggestion about veggies in baggies.  I forwarded it to Tom and it could be a second delivery to Jan, who loves salads.  Aren't the Mormons the ones who have to do one or two years missionary service before starting a career?  Maybe not the same as community service, but I'll bet they do some of each in that time.

Jane, I'm sorry to hear about Annie's problem.  I remember reading when you got her.

Amy, I hope you put some of that lemon pie in the hidey hole; it is my favorite.  My mother had a good reputation for her lemon pies and tarts and the funny thing is I think my dad said he taught her to make the pies.  No one around now where I can check that story.

Lloyd, I hope you were able to go back to sleep.

Hi everyone.  We are going to have an overcast day getting up only into the mid-70's with no predicted rain.  My big activity for today is our monthly Adult Fellowship luncheon at Church.  Our entertainment today should be fun as it is two men, one plays the piano and the other the tuba.  They sing and tell jokes and apparently are very entertaining.  I am going to take the rest of the morning very easy as yesterday worked a little too much and wasn't up to attending my noon meeting.

Shirley, I have a very simple recipe for making the coleslaw.  I use half a head of cabbage and make the dressing with 1/3 cup of white or apple vinegar mixed with 1/3 cup of sugar (we use Stevia in place of sugar) and then add mayonnaise or salad dressing, at least a half cup but really don't measure it.  I also add a large tablespoon of sour cream.  I stir it all together and grate some carrot into it for color and that is it.  I have made it a lot of times.  I use the food processor to chop the cabbage into small pieces.  I do not like dry coleslaw and this recipe is just right for me.  It has now been 30 years since my first heart surgery.  I sure never expected to still be around but am grateful for each and every day.

Gloria, glad to see you were once again able to enjoy the porch and take in the warmer weather.

Mary Ann, you do share a birthday with a couple of well known people although I expect Shirley Temple was be forgotten by future generations but not Shakespeare.

Hal, I assume you are referring to golfers that the sponsors are unhappy with.  It appears to me that there are quite a few good golfers that will keep the sport vibrant for a long time to come.  I also don't   like to type on my iPad although much easier than the iPhone.

June, I do have a pacemaker/defibrillator and have had for last 12 years or so.  My heart is paced about 98% of the time.  I had the first device replaced about 4 years ago and it will have to be replaced again in about 3 years as the battery life is limited to around 7 years.  Fortunately, it has never been needed to shock me.

Jenny, know you will be glad to see your family back from their trip and then be able to return to your home.  Hope you have had a nice restful time in Austin.

Phyllis, I just saw this morning that Raleigh, North Carolina is having very serious flooding in the downtown area and in some home areas.  I guess you all got a lot of rain up your way.

Callie, I didn't use a spreadsheet but rather just a plain Google document.  I am now using a new program from Google called Google Keep.  It is really like a notepad but it allows me to have multiple folders and can color coat the notes.  I can access it from any of my devices.  Having things alphabetized by author will make it much easier to use to be sure I haven't read or heard the book before and also keep lists of books by the authors I like.  I prefer to read books in the order they are written if they involve continuing characters.  You were wise to start with a database.  I was not aware that databases had any limitation on the number of rows it could contain.

Shirley, taking prepared vegetables to friends or family in time of need is really a good idea.

JaneS, it doesn't sound very promising for Annie but glad the vet did the blood work before putting her out for the teeth cleaning. I hope you get a lot of smiles in your check out line today so your day will be brightened.

Amy, I think I need to come to your house and help you eat that lemon pie and those cinnamon rolls, both real favorites of mine.  Do you have a lot of pine trees around your yard?

Mary Ann, it is the Mormon's who send their young men out on two year mission trips.

Good morning everyone, another day of rainy here, think we have had more than our share of April showers. Every time I heard about fires in Ca. I worried because of my daughter and family. Now that shi is in Az. There is a fire going there but not in her area. They are so far from town it would take fire trucks an hour to get there. Those who live there are very careful about fire.

MARY Ann  lucky you sharing a birthday with Shirley Temple. Most hate my birthday=April 15=income tax day.

HAL  an iPad is better than nothing isn't it?

PHYLLIS  a Cox truck is here about every other day.Cable is mostly the trouble. I know for me it is, get interested in something and it goes out and the 2 or 3 minutes later it is on again. Happens to some one here every day. Odd thing ig cable goes out but internet is still on.

CALLIE  no “squeaks and creaks” here but ooh and ouch when I move the wrong way or get up to walk. Another week and I will see the pain doc.

JUNE  I am another one who likes the air stirring. For years I have had a fan running all night or I cannot sleep. Of course in hot weather the AC is running, too.

SHIRLEY  that community service is a good thing, was not around when my 3 were in school. My grandsons and one granddaughter participated and it was good for them.

LLOYD  sorry you do not get a good night sleep any more. Sleeping 6 -8 hours without waking is the best. I know when I get those hours I feel better than the nights I cannot sleep.

JANE  wonderful how pets are treated these days. At times I wish I had a cat or little dog but then I would not be able to afford it any more.

AMY  any of that lemon pie left? If so I'll be right there.

LARRY  seems this spring one day is sunny and then the rain is back. Should not complain, better than a drought and fires and no floods here either.
Sunday afternoon I watched all Shirley Temple movies on  809 Cox cable. They also talked a lot about her young life. The studio was making 90% profit on her films at one time.

Gloria, my cat costs very little.  We buy dry cat food about once a month and I think it costs around $8 for the size that Tom gets.  He varies the food, but it is always dry food.  Annie has bought him some toys, but he's nearly four years old and he has very few toys; he just isn't interested.  He's only interested in ME!  He checks up on me often, finds me and I'm OK, then he leaves.  Annie paid $40 for Kendrick but I imagine if you go to a pound or shelter you could get a cat for less.  He had not been neutered when she got him, but to the best of my knowledge, that is the only medical expense she has had.  Now, Patricia might have more information and idea of the cost.

June and Gloria, in the summer when it is warm at night, I have a hassock fan below my window (casement) and I run it on low speed.  It is almost silent and I sleep well most nights.

Shirley, Tom talked to Jan last night and she said they did not need any food so we won't be taking any to them.  I will keep your suggestion for other people and other times.  I think it is a good one.

One thermometer says 60 degrees, another says 70 degrees, so it is going to be fairly warm here today.  I like those temperatures.  And the sun is shining brightly so you know what that means to me!

I think the equipment in the channel at Grand Haven is for dredging the channel, however, they also are working on the south pier (the one nearest the camera) so it could be for that.  A tree either was growing by the shore, or fell into the lake and drifted to the shore at Grand Haven.  Authorities used a bull dozer and something else to remove the tree and both pieces of equipment got stuck in the water because the sand couldn't hold the weight of the equipment.

Larry and Gloria, I put lemon pie and some cinnamon rolls in the hidy hole. Along with some whole wheat bread that I just took out of the oven..careful it is hot!
Larry, we used to have a row of red pines between the two properties but the neighbour cut them down. All we have now is the three pines in front, I loved to lay away at night and listen to the wind in the pines..at least we still have the ones on our property. I must admit though I don't mind NOT cleaning all the pine needles out of the eaves.

Good Day to all, I hope to hear from you that the doggies are doing well.  And, I also want to send my good thoughts and prayers to all who are healing or not well.

Our daughter is in the city today as she brought her car in for service and they gave her a loaner so she is going to visit us and we will most likely make it to Panera. After her visit we intend to stand in line at the DMV for license plates.  Only hope it isn't a terrible line as everything is going so crazy here with hundreds moving to Denver daily.

All smiles through my line today, including one on the face of an old friend.  We've been friends since our Girl Scout camping days so that was at least 70 years ago.  We're going to get together for lunch soon.  She lives right across the creek from our old GS camp and we usually get lunch and sit on her sunny back porch and watch the water and "remember when".  I look forward to those days.

Now I'm going to chase the doggies out one more time and see if there are any zzzzs left in the sofa.  Another restless night and morning on my feet has made me a bit on the tired side.

Make today a good one!

I woke today to a very red eye..so have been laying around with a cold compress. I notified them downstairs, they notified my doctor, and she will be here tomorrow on her regular monthly visit. In the meantime, just in case it is "pink eye", I am imposing a stay at home day as pink eye is very contagious.I have to be here anyhow, as my groceries will be delivered between 11 and 3 o'clock.

So that's my message of today.

Janie, I am so glad your Vet tested your baby before doing the surgery. It could have been a real danger. You are one of the few people I know that still lives in the area you grew up in. I think that must be a delight...good for you. Take a good rest today now, you have had a bunch of stress.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

June, I am within five miles of where I grew up.  I lived in that house for 50 years, moved to Belmont, a suburb, for three years, then moved to this condo where I've been for over 35 years.  Norm lived in Belding, not far from Grand Rapids, for a few years, then moved to Belmont near where I lived, then moved to this area for 30 years and even at Pilgrim Manor was a couple of miles from where we grew up.  We often said of ourselves - "once a north ender, always a north ender'.  Norm was born in that house and I was almost four when we moved there.

I'm sorry to hear of your pink eye; I know it is very contagious.  I'm glad our contact is by computer so none of us should catch it from you!

Yep!  Those zzzzs were right where I left them the last time I was there!  I feel a lot better and ready to do something.

JUNE, take care of your eyes.  You never really get finished using them.

Mary Ann, I am comfortable being where I am.  I was actually born about 25 miles north of here and we moved here for my dad's work when I was in fifth grade.  Where I live now, is about 2 miles from where I grew up.  My daughter lives about 3 blocks from the house I grew up in and my son lives about 4 blocks the other way from it.  His store is the one established by his grandfather and is in the building where his father grew up.  Of course, there's my wandering daughter in Texas and another one about 3 hours away in Maryland.  But they both come home regularly.  It's HOME!

Now I think I'll go see what I can get into for a bit.  I hope you are all having a good day!
