Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Jack.  I am going to check more often now and delete what I don't need.  I remember on my Wxp when it changed computers I had about 100 in the Documents and more in Photo and mySIL just clicked on them someway and could just move them over to new place. Will be in Texas soon and have to have him go over some things again

No real need but like everything I downsize and keep only what I want.

RAMMEL

When you have the list of files you can click on one to select it ( ex- the top one ), then hold down the SHIFT key and select (click on) the bottom one. All those in between will be selected.
If you hold down the CTRL key while you select (click on)other files, it will only select the ones you click on.

You can then delete, drag, copy them.

Yes. Now I knew there was a way of deleting better than one at a time.  Memory not holding on anymore. I am going to go to writing tips down again.  Does it work the same way on W10 (if I ever go to it)?

I don't know  &  me too.  But I assume that if W-10 presents a list as do prior Windows products it will do the same.

I keep saying I'm going to get out to a computer store and get a W-10 puter but I just haven't put myself in gear.  Lazy is easier than busy  :(

I have not deleted a group in  a row, but on my Windows 10 I hold down Ctrl and click the ones I want to delete, often skipping some in the group.  I then delete those highlighted.

RAMMEL

So, ----- Looks like it works the same in W-10.   That's good.

I just do not seem to be on my Desktop that much anymore warranting me running out to buy a new one. Also lost my friend 3 months ago that always set the computers up for me. Putting on everything I needed. I have now idea how to do that. Not even been on one with W10 yet. Have met people who still do not like it.
JeanneP

JeanneP   I have been on windows 10 for almost 2 years and never regretted it.   I also use a desk top computer.  Happy with the size of the keyboard and working the mouse.   Seldom use my iPad.   If I had to replace I would probably still get a desk top.   Like my set up and comfort in the office chair.    Do not like change and debated windows 10 but again not sorry I made the move.

I am on Comcast and able to use both my phone and pad to watch shows on tv, but prefer the big screen.  I have used the pad to watch one sport on it while I watch another on the TV.

JeanneP

Jack. Now I use my IPad. Not a lot but about as much as I use the desktop. Just use for different things . Play games on Ipad. Also have a lot of books on it. Just have to many what with a Amazon Fire with books on and another larger Tablet. I will most probably get another Desktop.     fact I am heading down to Texas in April and SIL has one down there I can have and will see how W10 works. Thing is I am flying not driving and so getting it home the problem but it would be all set up.

JeanneP   after years in Banking and having to read all the regulations and write loan agreements I gave up reading books.  Have not read one for years.   Would not start now due to short memory span.  Check out the windows 10 but I have shortcuts on my desktop that take me to my photos, videos and documents so it is  just like Windows Seven.

JeanneP

Jack. I have been reading at least 2 books a week since about age 5. I was in Finance for 43 years. See what you mean. Reading things we did daily. Money , Money Keeping 4 sets of books with businesses in 4 countries. last 20 years. Handling Bookkeeping for Contractors years. But books my way of relaxing.
My short memory not the best now also.but reading fiction doesnt need to be. Only thing is I forget the books I have read within a short time. End up getting them again. After few pages story come right back to me. I think reading does help . Now I still good on remembering numbers. I have things that I have to enter in computer and such that are 14 numbers and more long. Stay right with me some had for years.
Have been told when comes to memory as we age that we have a tendency to not store things unless they are really important to us. Just don't file things away like we use to. Not enough brain space. So that is my excuse. Does seem to work. Like the saying goes. Don't Sweat the little stuff. Remember when we were younger lots of things bothered us. Not anymore. Just pick up a book and forget it...

Jeanne, I spent 40+ years dealing with numbers also, but I was and still am an avid reader.  My folks took us to the library as least weekly from kindergarten on. I couldn't wait until I was 8 years old until I could get my own library card!  You had to be at least 8 and able to sign your name in cursive on the application.  That was a momentous occasion for me.  The kids have always been avid readers also.  One of my favorite pictures is Cathie at about 3 sitting on Claude's lap "reading "Babar" to him.

I have always carried a large purse so I could carry a book with me.  It's a lot easier nowadays with the Kindle, I-phone or I-pad.  I was a 24/7 caregiver for Claude the last 5 or so years before he passed on.  I couldn't get out easily so I would reserve books online and the kids would pick them up when they came in.  I still do it and usually have 8 or 10 on reserve.

MaryTX.  You sound like me. I think we had to be about 7 in order to get a library card in England. I was a good reader prior to that though. Always had a book with me. Parents would get onto me for reading walking down the street and always walking into things. The books I owned I alway covered in paper covering. Left them all behind. I don't buy anymore other than on my Ipad or Tablet.  People ask what I would stop using if I had to and I say would stop TV. Computer before stop books.  Thank goodness eyes still O.K
Now where do you live in Texas. Been awhile since I have been down. Daughter been there 40 years . I am heading down from end of march to April 12. We have a 12 year old taking Confirmation and then driving to some Beach in Florida where one of the GC got married and they doing a 10 year marriage vow . Be a busy time. but always that way when there.

Jeanne, I now live in Arlington in the DFW Metroplex.  We lived in south-central Oklahoma but moved down here to be near the kids when Claude had his first stroke.  I considered moving back to Sulphur when Claude passed,  Probably just as well as my health isn't good now.

We always covered school books or our own books with brown paper garbage sacks :).  I seldom buy books anymore altho I got one in the mail last week.  It was a pre-order from April 2017 of a new author I like and I had forgotten about it. My books now either come from the library or free Kindle books from Amazon.

Doesn't your daughter live in the San Antonio area?

Thinking of San Antonio, was there ever an obituary published for Hal as he lived there?  My computer crashed about the time he passed and I never heard anything more.

Mary, I look occasionally for an obit for Hal but I've never found one.  I look every so often and if I ever find one, I'll post it here.  Just don't hold your breath!

New Update Resolves 50 Security Vulnerabilities

This week brought the second Tuesday of the month, which is known to some as Patch Tuesday.  On the second Tuesday of every month, Microsoft issues updates to patch any security vulnerabilities found over the last month.  The update that hit this week patched approximately 50 security gaps in programs such as Internet Explorer, Adobe Flash Player, and Edge, to name a few.

The update that has been deemed most critical is tied to Outlook.  In order to exploit the flaw, users must open an infected file within Outlook.  However, this file could be found in an email or a link on an infected website.  Other patches found in IE or Edge could also be exploited by executing malware on an infected website.  It should be noted, there have not been any reports of hackers exploiting these vulnerabilities; however, they may at any time.  Therefore, it is suggested all Windows computers patch their systems by installing the latest Microsoft update.

Although, users must also be aware the Microsoft update does not update all of their programs.  It is important users keep their third-party applications and security solutions updated as well.  We understand it may be an inconvenience to halt what you’re doing to complete an update â€" but they are incredibly important.  If users leave operating systems, applications, or security solutions unpatched, they’re leaving the backdoor wide open for malicious activity.

I seem to remember before this last upgrade that we had a Forum for Deaths and Sickness.   Is it still around and I just haven't been  able to find it?

I think I saw an obit or at least an announcement of Hal's death here but don't know which forum it was in.

Mary.  I use brown paper to cover my books also. either that or Wallpaper if my dad was doing a room over.  I kept such good care of them.
Now My daughter has a Ranch in Magnolia, Texas. Just outside of Houston. Has 3 Sons. 2 married with children and one at home. They have been upset with me for years now as the thought I would move to Texas when I retired. Still onto me all the time. For some reason I just hate the thought of me leaving the area I have live in for 50 years.  It is still perfect for me. University town. Everything close. Best public transportation Hospital and Medical centres if needed. Only thing is most all my friends are gone now. Can see where the kids worry as no one close. Good health so far so active. I will see when I go down to Texas in April.
I am surprised also that Hal's Daughter did not put a Obit. in here. She knew he was very close to S and F.

Part of an article about storing passwords from Dashlane stated:

"Although it is far from secure, many people use cloud services to store and share their passwords. Some of the most common cloud storage tools used for this purpose include Dropbox, Apple iCloud, and Google Drive. This is an extremely dangerous practice that has led to several data breaches in the past. For example, in 2016, Dropbox announced a data breach that affected approximately 68 million records. Likewise, hackers were recently able to exploit a flaw in iCloud’s security that allowed them to unlock any iPhone. Thus, these tools can’t be trusted to keep your passwords safe."

I am in a dilemma...I have been in a chat room for more years than I care to mention..My computer is very important to me..I use just one browser...Firefox...and never intend to use others out there..Here is the problem I am having: in the box used for posting in the room the font all of a sudden became very small...I knew that old trick of CTRL + or- to make it either bigger or smaller...but....it is quite light and I almost have to get my nose up to the screen to be able to make out what I typed....I hesitate looking for tools because in the past clicking on the wrong things has caused a lot of havoc
... I am hoping that there is a fairly easy solution to this problem of making the printing "darker" and someone who is viewing this will know if there is anything out there to fix the problem..Thanks for your kind attention...

Rather than ctrl+- try --- Go to the top of the FF page and click on VIEW < ZOOM < RESET.  If after that it still remains too light let us know.

When you are looking at this page using Fire Fox, at the very top left you should see - File - Edit - View. Click View then Zoom, then Reset.
Once you get this problem straightened out you can use the CTRL + -  to make minor changes. But the reset does get you back to a good starting point.
