An amazing sentence in English

"I do not know where family doctors acquired illegibly perplexing handwriting; nevertheless, extraordinary pharmaceutical intellectuality counterbalancing indecipherability transcendentalizes intercommunication's incomprehensibleness."

The person who made this sentence must be a vocabulary GENIUS.

Reason:

This is a sentence where the first word is one letter long, the second word is two letters. the third is three letter long... the eight word is eight letters long and so on... the twentieth word is twenty letters long!

Good morning everyone, raining again and 63°. Thunderstorms in the forecast about the time of rush hour.  63°  Wish my AC was in, at least could run it on dehumidify. Not a good day for all the runners in the Boston marathon. Wonder what they will do if it starts thundering and lightning while they are running. Because today is a Mass. holiday those in this area have till tomorrow to file their income tax. I never could wait till the last minute to file.

SHIRLEY  Easter is as late as can be this year. Like you it does not seem possible it is here already with the weather we have been having.

GLORIA de  prayers are with you. Hospice is a wonderful thing and will help so much.

JANE  like Arthur Godfrey used to say when he gave away items on his TV program "for free take, for buy, waste time." I agree, free things are always better. Your post was your green and easy to read.

BUBBLE  thank you for the new page and your graphics and wise words. I know I would never be able to come up with all those log words. Bad enough figuring how to say them.

Have a good day everyone. Glad I woke early and got to post before we get the Tstorms. Pouring right now.

Good morning everyone..

Well, I should not have said to put the snow shovels away the other day. We now have ground cover and the snow is still falling.

Nothing planned today just take the day as it comes. I know chasing dust bunnies is a must then maybe some sewing.

Gloria, we had thunder and lightning last night. Around 11:15 pm I took the pup out and one crack of thunder made him jump!!

Bubble, thank you for the new start page...love the bunnies.

Better get a move on...

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It started raining yesterday around noon and rained all afternoon and evening.  The doggies and I had retired for the night and I had just gone to sleep when I heard thunder in the distance.  It rolled and and in no time flat, I was wearing two very shaky, very scared doggies.  After it passed, they relaxed and I noticed that the numbers were off on the clock.  More than 500 customers lost power for about 7 hours due to that storm.

BUBBLE, thanks for the shiny new shoppe for visiting and for all the pictures and fun things.  I love the word thing.  I happen to be a word freak myself and I love it when someone comes up with something like that.

Today is a work day and I'll have to be getting ready pretty soon.  I hope you are all having a good beginning to your day.  If you are, keep it going!  Good days are the best!

NOTE:  Hi AMY!

Good Morning Everyone, from the
rainy rocky coast of Maine!

Thanks Bubble for our new quarters!!!

Today the Boston Marathon is being
run...   in the rain...   Good luck
to all who are out there running.. I
would think that running in the rain
would be better then running when it
is hot and humid.

Have a good day,  Everyone..

What a miserable evening and night.  Had weather warnings all afternoon and night.  Flood watches, tornado watches, lightning and thunder warnings and rain, rain, rain.  I gathered some things to take to the basement in case the tornado watch turned to a warning.  Another serious alarm sounded just after ten.  Should I go to the basement or just go to bed?  Decided that whatever was going to happen my staying up wouldn't change anything.  So turned out the light and went to sleep.  More warnings during the night waking me up each time.  I'm tired and cranky this morning but everything is fine, the storms are gone and the sun is bright and beautiful.  Such is spring in N. Carolina.   ::)

I will get the laundry started after breakfast and then try to catch up on my sleep.  I don't think much else will get done today.  I will be a happier person once I get some nap time taken care of.

Hi Everyone.  We have a beautiful sunny day that will get up to 70 this afternoon.  I did wake up feeling better this morning.  I was able to take my shower this morning and each time I do it now I am finding new safeguards.  After I finished I laid down for the better part of of hour to recover some energy.  It is almost 10:30 now and haven't even eaten my breakfast/lunch, which I have at my desk and will eat as I work here this morning.

They made a very wise decision to start the golf tournament early yesterday as they got it over and people safely off the course before the stormy weather hit the area.  Fortunately most of the rain and storm was either South or North of the Augusta area.  I did watch a lot of the tournament both Saturday and Sunday as well as quite a bit of the Thursday and Friday rounds.  It was a very good event with a lot of excitement in terms of who might win right up to the end.  It was really some accomplishment for Tiger considering two years ago he doubted he could ever play competitive again due to back problems. The young guys will have many opportunities for wins in the future.  Nothing on the schedule for today but tomorrow will be buy as have an appointment for a test at the hospital and need to have some blood drawn for some test ordered by the kidney doctor in preparation for my appointment with him in a couple of weeks.

I appreciate all of your comments but still not up to doing a lot of individual comments.

Lindancer, it sounds like you are very wise to get the Hospice Care.  Our experience when Stacey had that care for a few months was the care was excellent and it was helpful to have someone come in to help out as well as the nurse seeing you once a week.  I am sure they will give you good care.

Mary Ann, like you I have tried to document everything in terms of our business affairs and have been sure both Pat and Scott are aware of where everything is.  I have done this for several years and each year I try to update the information in January.  One never knows when such information will be needed.  I never expected my health to fail so quickly as it has in the last 3 1/2 months.

Bubble, thanks for the new start for this week.  Your Easter graphic is right on and the other one is very enjoyable to view.

Phyllis, we also had a tornado watch for several hours yesterday, but we didn't even get much rain.  We have no place to go in case of a tornado but our laundry room or one of the bathrooms which have no windows.

Well, I have an unexpected day off today.  I reported in on time, only to find that WM is still out of power.  They offered me a choice....stay and work the overnight freight (which I can't lift) in the dark (where I can't see) or go home.  Guess what I did?

Now I have to make good use of this time because it's a gift.  I think I'm going to finish the candy that I promised to make for Bethany's finals week in May.  That will be one thing.  Then I'll go around my yard (which was nice and cleaned up) and pick up all the sticks that the wind blew down.

LARRY, have a GOOD day!  You deserve it!

BBL to see what ya'll are up to!

A good Monday HELLO!

My goodness, seems most all of you were dealing with storms yesterday and last night.

Thank you, BUBBLE, for our new SS and for the beautiful graphics.  You take such good care of us💞

Thank you, LLOYD, for the good suggestions about the pads that you can use either hot or cold....I will look at WalMart and see if I can find them.

JANE, will you get called back in when the power is restored?  Hopefully you will have a lot more plants to choose from when you go to look again.  Happy candy making.

AMY, I just hope you don't get a heavy snow and wish you had your snow tires back on the van⛄️ Poor pup, hope he did not get too frightened by the clap of thunder.

My neck pain is definitely better today..... I am using my Tens and it is feeling good.

Today is Chemo #3 for Michele.  We will do school pick up today for Kate, then get her to her dance practice.  It is to be nearly 70* and I am looking forward to a bit of sun on my back❣️❣️

I wish EVERYFRIEND a wonderful day and special HUGS for you, JACKIE❣️

Jenn

Another day has come and is on its way out. The snow that fell is gone leaving old piled up or ice snow left.  :cheer: The dust bunnies still live :cheer:  We did go out for coffee and I picked a few things up at the bulk store and grocery store. Made 6 mini loaves of banana orange bread and three loaves of yeast bread. Plus put a pot of barley soup on to cook, which reminds me I need to pick up barely tomorrow while Kyle is getting his hair cut.

Jesse ,is thoroughly enjoying his time out with no leash on. He is a lot of fun to watch when he is making new discoveries. He chase a leaf till it went through the fence to the neighbours then stood with a perplexed look on his face.

Shirley, I am sure you are busy getting everything in order..now remember the one gown goes on by the front, then the next gown you put on like a housecoat....then you are not in a ICU gown... :-[  You know we will all want to hear about your time away so keep notes :) Hugs and prayers. You will ace this you know!

Jenny, hope you are feeling much better now..

Jane hope the power is back on for everyone..

Going to hit the shower and put my feet up

Enjoy your evening everyone.

They didn't call me to come in to run register so I had the whole day off.  I did learn that a tornado touched down about 5 miles from where I live.  No one was hurt but on house, several cars an minor damage to a church .

I finished the candy so that's ready.

Now I'm off to "set a spell"!  Hope everyfriend had a lovely day.  AMY glad the snow decided not to stay.  Are there any baked goods in the Hidey Hole?

SHIRLEY, relax!

Good evening thanks for kind words.

Larry, I think I am doing the right thing, for me. A nurse comes in once a week, but will come in the middle of the night if need.  y button is now hooked up to them.  My doctors are not happy with me, they try to talk me out of sign up. So for a few month I will be content. My DIL fromMass is coming down for a few days next week. Keith my nephew that was staying here with his father in NC. he had a stroke. The nephew to day has already left  You take care

Good morning everyone, yesterday was rain at  times during the day. Had company yesterday, Older Son and DIL with their grandson.  My 3 year old great grand came in and ran right to me and I got big hugs from him. He is strong and I got a really tight hugs from him. I look at him and thing of his red haired daddy at that age. What a shame about the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris burning. Imagine it too 200 years to build it.

AMY  we didn't get many thunder claps from all that rain and they sounded far off.

JANE  only all my Cox connections blinked yesterday, no power loss but the southern part of the state had a loss for a few hours. Too much rain, though.

PHYLLIS  we had peeks of sunshine yesterday, that was it. This morning the sky is blue and the sun is shining again.

LARRY  I have tried telling my sons where every thing is but they do not want to hear it.

JANE  a day off from a job is great till you get the paycheck.

JENNY  I like to sit on the porch with my back to the sun, feels good.

GLORIA  de  you are doing what you feel is best for you.

AMY  thank you. It was my birthday but just another day for me.

Have a good day.

Good Morning, Everyfriend!  Sunshine here today but not very warm.

First of all....

Happy Belated Birthday wishes, GLORIA!   I missed it, too and I'm sorry!

I had a doggie with a problem in the middle of the night.  She made it as far as the door and it took me too long to follow.  So I was cleaning carpet in the middle of the night.  Not much fun but I'm old enough to understand that these things happen.

I'm off to vacuum and dust a bit to get myself ready to celebrate Easter.

I wish you all a very happy day and lots more of them to come.

Hi Everyone.  For the second day we have clear skies with a high expected of about 75 this afternoon. I was really embarrassed this morning as have it in my mind that today was my appointment for the ultra sound.  When I looked at the paperwork this morning is saw that it is next week just as my calendar right in front of me shows as well.  I had gotten up early and was all ready to go and was ready to fast this morning before having blood drawn after the test.  Fortunately there was no harm done as we didn't make a wasted trip.  Today is the day to fill my medicine boxes for the next two weeks and will have to order some medicines also.  I did empty the top shelf of the dishwasher this morning and also folded a load of clothing.  I think that is my limit for today. I had a good day yesterday and I think today is also going to be a good.

Interesting postings from yesterday and this morning.  I have let the time get away from me so I am just going to check in today and get busy on my medicine boxes and then lay down for my afternoon rest.

Gloria, I also want to wish you a belated Happy Birthday

Gloria, another Belated Happy Birthday to you!

I can relate to having a red head being full of hugs but mine is SO like his grandfather at that age, wrong hair color & only 2, but his mother (my gr-daughter) declares "it is her life job to keep that kid alive until he is 18".

Gloria de, you are wise with your decisions so not a time to question them now. I am sad that you are not having the doctors in charge that work endlessly to keep you alive, but I have known others that had a much more comfortable time under care of  Hospice. I do like their goal to keep the person pain free and in charge. Also hope they are good at keeping your computer on line to visit with us, right?

Jane, my vaccum was going well after 10:00 pm last night. The cats all went outside so I got busy cleaning off this east end of the house with hardwood & slate floors, then did the swifter jet on slate & Bono on the hardwood. Have one end of it to finish today but went back to sleep for a couple hours. Sat. night Fitbit said I go 5 minutes less than 4 hours sleep with no nap Sunday & last night was under 5 hours. I had been working hard all week to get 6 hours per night but fell off the wagon. I understand about cleaning carpet in the middle of the night, but Tom's problem is he forgets he isn't outside...and then he is so happy he wants that to be HIS spot!  :knuppel2:

Amy, I do wish I could share these "blooming trees" with you. Absolutely the brightest colors I ever remember (and that eye doctor thinks I need cataract surgery!  ::) )  The wind is blowing the blossoms off and pulling the leaves out so fast can almost watch the change. Feels like we are going to have a few days of spring and summer will pounce on us. Your Jesse's delight with freedom is how these cats act when I walk them down to the river. They run & roll and seem to trust that I will watch out for them.

Jenn, hope your neck/back is better and that Michele's treatment went well. My friend was talking about her husband using his Tens, so I tried to explain to Andy about it for Pam's knees. He said they already had 2 versions of it. Her knees are "bone on bone" but she doesn't want to do surgery until she retires. The stem cell procedure seemed to help for a very short while but looks like she is back where she started. Instead of camping this year they are going to use another of their weeks in a "time share", but Andy & Pete still plan to camp with me at Mt.Princeton.  They did enjoy their week in a time share in Branson, MO and glad they are using them instead of losing. They have a couple & have "banked" the weeks as much as possible, but they did give their 2 kids & families plane tickets & used 2 of the 3 bedroom time shares in Hawaii last year & had a wonderful time.

Larry & Lloyd, good to read that you both are doing better, if you behave that's how it works.

Callie, Phyllis & Sandy, wishing all of you sunshine & a beautiful day ahead. I'd better get moving or this day will be gone. Another trip to the store & more house cleaning for me.

Oops, you snuck in, Gloria de & Larry!  Larry, I am having an awful time keeping days straight this week. The mail has been and still that paperwork from the Cardio's office with instructions for tomorrow's heart cath not in the mail.

Just getting in here for a few minutes.

First,  Gloria,  I want to wish you a very Happy Belated Birthday and I am sorry I missed it yesterday.  Sounds like it was a nice day since you got to see your little great-grandson. That made the day extra special !!!

Shirley,  I certainly want to wish you GOOD LUCK on your procedure tomorrow.  I am sure you will be fine, but I can understand how apprehensive you are feeling.  Just take it easy and slow down for a few days.

Larry, nice to see your message today.  Glad you felt up to do a couple little chores.  I am sure Pat was glad for your help.

Jane, so sorry you had to clean up the carpet during the night.  That is one reason why I can't have any more animals.  Something like that would be so difficult for me to do.  I had thought about getting a little kitten,  but I don't think I would be able to handle a litter box.  My years of having animals is over, I am sure.

Gloria de,  It sounds like you are doing just what you want to do.  It all has to be your decisions.   You know what is best for you.

It is a pretty sunny day, with hardly any wind.  Not like yesterday !  The wind was terrible.  Nice to see the pretty blue sky and the sun so bright.  Still a little chilly, tho.

Have a good rest of the afternoon.   HI !!! i to all the other friends.

Joy

I'm ready to relax!  I started this day with
*Carpet cleaning in the middle of the night
*Up and out with the doggies at 6:30
*Coffee and wait for the boinger after the doggie's pill
*Breakfast for all of us
*Vacuum...I planned on the hall and living room but ended up doing all three bedrooms, too.
*A spot of dusting and then cleaning up after
*Lunch and  couple of games on the computer
*Went outside and cleaned up all the doggie land mines in the yard.
*then cleaned up a enough downed sticks from the storm to have a lovely bonfire...if I wanted one.
Now i'm goofing off.  OOPS! forgot...I have a load of wash in the dryer and one in the washer to go in the dryer.  I'll have to deal with that before the goofing off can begin.

SHIRLEY, just in case I forget to say so, my prayers are with you tomorrow.  May God guide the hands of all the medical staff and may he keep you in his hand also.

Bye for now!

Running late again tonight. This has been a rather stressful day.

My neck is better each day, so I am very thankful for this, and I thank all of you who have been thinking and asking me about this.

Michele had a rough day today.  Each day after chemo has brought on different effects for the day after.  This afternoon there was a lock down of all of the children's schools due to a woman from Florida that flew in to Denver, purchasing a pump action shotgun and ammo, then threating  schools in the Denver Metro Area.  She has been known to have a infatuation with the Columbine Massacre.  The 20 year anniversary of this occurrence is the 20th.  School districts are meeting to decide if the schools should all be shut down until she is apprehended.   We were at our granddaughters school for pickup and she did not come out.....no one came out, and we had no idea what was going on.  Michele was getting all kinds of texts and emails from the school district telling of the lock down and then that parents would have to come to the school to sign out their children.  Kate was released to her GrandBob and we got her home safely.  So very sad what we have to deal with these days at our schools.

SHIRLEY, if you come in during the night you are in my thoughts and prayers tonight.  I know you will be so glad to have  your heart procedure over and done.  Hugs to you. 💞💞

JACKIE, things are happening very quickly now, and it must seem that there is nothing left.  I hope the lady that is interest in Toby did come and made a good impression.  I know you will not let him go unless you feel it is a good family that is taking him.  Seeing the car go must have been very hard for you, and I am so sorry.  I do hope your sister and your daughter will step up and be there for you soon.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone...

We are off to the vet this morning Jessie is having his operation this morning and will also have a dew claw removed on his hind leg. Now we know we are to keep him quiet after all this and that is going to be a job for sure. A not yet 6 month old pup doesn't do quiet!

Denver, that must have been a scare not seeing any children. Prayers for Michele and happy to read your neck is getting better.

Shirley, prayers for you and you will go through with flying colours on this.

Lloyd, I am glad to read that the mishap was to your RV and no mishap to you!!

Better get a move on we leave at 6:30.

Enjoy your day everyone.

We're up and attem!  Mickie did a total yard inspection before coming in this morning.  I don't think she found anything because I haven't seen a report.

JENNY, what a scare for you and the children in the area!  How sad that Michele had that to deal with when she wasn't feeling well herself.  But I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend.

I've also been thinking about Jackie and your message to her opened my ears for some of what she is going through.  JACKIE, I keep you in my prayers and I wish you well!

It's a bit chilly here this morning....only 45º but supposed to get into the 60s later today.  I still have some yard cleanup to do but I'm calling the yard guy today to let him know what we want him to do and I think I'll leave the cleanup to him.

I'll be off to greet my public at WM this morning!  I bet it will be busy after being closed almost one entire day this week.  I'm sure glad I wasn't there yesterday!

I hope you all have a lovely day filled with everything your heart desires and I'll be waiting to hear about SHIRLEY'S day!

Good morning.  A quick  Hi to everyone.

Jenny, that must have been scary for the kids as well as the ones there to pick them up.  I just don't know where this world is coming to with so many incidents like that.  I still am praying for Michele.  Hope she is feeling better this morning.

Jane, I bet you enjoyed your day of rest yesterday,  but now, today, it is back to the same old thing.  It is still very chilly down my way.  But, it does look like the sun is trying to show it's face.

I, too, have been thinking of Shirley this morning.  I feel like she will be fine.  She is a very strong gal !!!  I think she did say you would be spending a day or two in the hospital. She will be climbing the walls, knowing her.

Amy, hope all goes well with the dog's surgery today.  Oh, 6:30 is so early to have to be out.

I hope everyone will have a good day.

Jenny, I read this morning about the woman with guns wanting to emulate the Columbine Massacre.  I worry about the future with people who have thoughts like that.

Jenny, I am so sorry Michele must suffer the ill effects of chemo; she is fortunate she has a loving family (yours) for support.  Thinking of Jackie, not everyone does.

If anyone wants to know what Jackie is going through, go to Norm's B&T where whe has opened up to her feelings, what must be done, the help she is getting, also the help she is not getting.  I sometimes feel her only friends are those of us in S&F and we're an ocean away.

Jane, I'll bet you enjoyed your day off yesterday and I hope you didn't overdo it.  You work hard when you're at home and a bonus day off could have been an extra day of rest.

Amy, you've had more dogs than I have, but as I recall when our dog was spayed, she was rather quiet the next day because if she moved, it hurt.  Now, with the cat (male), I think he was a normal 5-month old with little pain.

This threat is over in our community....the lady has been found dead from a self inflicted gun shot.  She purchased this rifle LEGALLY in a gun shop less than 2 miles from Columbine High School.  Now what will we have come up next?  Sadly, every year around the Columbine anniversary time the crazies come out of the wood work and they are even more convinced that with it being the 20th year anniversary there is the likely hood of even more threats.  All school districts in the entire  Denver Metro Area and more cancelled school today due to the concerns for our children's safety.

I am thinking about SHIRLEY of course, and hope that we will hear something today that her procedure is over and she is doing GREAT!

AMY, we look forward to hearing that Jesse's procedure is over and he is recovering well.

JACKIE, another day is nearing an end for you.  I do hope more was accomplished today and that your neighbor did follow through and your printer is working well for you to print the picture of Richard.

I want to say that the children at the schools were not told of the imminent threat of why their schools were on lock down, rather they were told it had something to do with a "weather threat".  Kate looked around at the sky and said, "humm, the sky does not look like a threat to me"?  What a shame our world has come to such terrible things for us all to be worried about.  Now there are so many families that are dealing with this....parents that had to stay home from work, and the like.

Jenny,   I am glad the incident with the lady with a gun is over.

It was on our local noon news, but nothing about her being found dead at that time.   If I remember correctly, it said she was just a teen-age girl.  Yes, things like that are so sad.  But, so many strange things going on in our world today.  I do worry about what kind of world my great-grandchildren will grow up in.  I won't be around to see what is happening, tho.  I hope they can live in a better world when they grow up.

Hope Michele is feeling better today.  I know how hard it is for her and for all of you.   I do continue to remember  her in my prayers.

I'm glad the current threat in Denver is over!  Prayers do get answered!

Good Evening Everyone.

I am glad that the situation in Colorado
is over.   Hopefully this one person  is all
there is to this situation.

I guess that she ended her own life.

At 18 she legally purchased a fire arm
after only being in the state for 2 hours...

Well,  that fact certainly speaks for it self.

Easter and Passover will be here soon.

Have a good evening,  Everyone.

I'm home.... just a few minutes ago but wanted to change clothes & get comfy. I ate before 5:00 am so am starved. Had 2 crackers & a couple sips of Coke ... this is a heart clinic across the street from the hospital so they can rush people across the sky walk if needed. Dr stopped when cath was done & asked me if I would "promise to take Plavix if I put in 2 stents you have to PROMISE!"  I agreed & he put in the stents. Had to stop by the store to pick up prescriptions on the way home since I can't drive for a couple days. He is one tough doctor! The worst part is I do have a wicked cold with nose running constantly so had to convince the nurses I really do sleep flat, no raised bed or pillows.. can get the head clear that way. They ended up giving me something when all over, because the blood pressure spiked. My head is "wonkey" (as the kids say). The dye is not agreeing with my body & the Plavix they gave me "to go home"... gave me instant heart burn so bad I couldn't eat anything. I am off to bed but will eat a peanut butter & jelly before, and coffee.  Only thing that sounds like will stay down. I really do go to sleep after a cup of coffee.  Thanks for all the good thoughts & prayers, I am sure they helped pull me through this stage! Shirley

Stopping in before turning off computer because hail, wind and rain are "on the doorstep".

Shirley,  happy to see a report from you.  Glad it's over and done with and hoping you'll behave yourself and follow directions.  "Don't make me come up there".   :) :) ;)   Love and prayers from "Down South".

Well,   I am so glad  to see the message from Shirley.

Now, I will agree with Jane and Callie.   Please behave yourself and follow ALL the doctor's orders EXACTLY !    Or   I will have to come out there,  also.

I had noticed that I had left the computer on earlier, and don't like to leave it on overnight.  So, that is how I happened to be checking in here at 1 a.m.  I fell asleep watching the news and now will take myself to bed.

Will look for more from Shirley in the morning.  Hope you have a good night.

Well, thank you, girls, for backing up the bully doctor!  ;D   I woke up a little after 1:00am .. hungry... having trouble getting enough food in my tummy to satisfy. Took me over an hour to get an egg & 2 pieces of toast down, along with a couple cups of coffee. The nurse said that ANY liquid, including coffee, would help get the dye out of my system. My body objected to that dye from the git-go.... Except for being battered & sore, I actually feel like I can breathe better. There was something said about the 3 bypasses put in at the time the valve was installed... am quite sure it wasn't said to make it appear it was done "wrong", but went bad. Only time will tell if this did any good, but at the same time my valve was measured for the new one to fit into the pig valve of 6 years ago. I am not convinced my old body is ready for another invasion. BUT, for this week I will do as ordered.  ;)  Back to bed and more zzzzzzzzzzzzzs. Looks like the severe weather & hail missed us yesterday, I just checked radar and nary a green, yellow or red sploch in Kansas!

Good morning everyone...

Thank you for asking about Jessie, so far all is well and I expect it to keep that way. He is getting used to the halo on his head but fights me when I put a boot on his foot.......can't win them all. They told me at the clinic to keep that bandage dry where he had his dew claw off and of course we are to have rain Thurs to Sat. He was ravenous this morning.
He came out of the anesthesia by 1 instead of 3:pm .

Have a laundry going now and not sure what else will be done as Jessie needs the attention. He had me awake several times in the night and outside for a bit so maybe a nap might be in order.

Shirley, great to see you here .Had no doubt you would pull through with flying colours and as others said  do what the dear Dr says........you sure don't want all of us showing up on your doorstep to see that you behave.  :smitten:

Oh dear ,he can stretch and get at that bandage on his leg.....and so it begins :)

Enjoy your day everyone.

AMY, maybe we'll all have to gang up on Jessie, too!(https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/smiley.png)

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's already 54º here this morning heading for the high 60s.  I can take this kind of day every day!

AMY, I have a recipe lying in front of me and I've got jars in the kitchen.  If I have all the ingredients, I'll be making your mustard today.  I've been out of it for almost a week now and it's been on my shopping list to buy two different times and I missed it.  I think Someone was telling me I probably wouldn't like the store-bought and I better get busy and make some.

I packed up Bethany's PB saltines last night and will deliver them to her dorm at the beginning of finals week in May.

And I better get my day started NOW.  I wish you all a good one!

So glad to hear that you are back home, Shirley.  It will take a few days to get yourself back to normal.  Take it easy...if that is possible for you...and mind the doctor.  I'm too old to come back to KS and sit on you!   :2funny:

What a day yesterday!  Spectrum wanted us to change our modem so sent us a new one by mail along with "simple" instructions to change out the old one to the new one.  Nothing is "simple" with those people.   :tickedoff:   We got the phone connected ok and the cable TV but we had a terrible time trying to sort out the internet connection.  Finally got connected late yesterday evening with the help of a tech on the phone.  I'm still trying to get things back to normal with several online business accounts.  And I don't even know if we have faster internet speed now or not!  I hate dealing with the cable company but everything depends on a computer now so have to have it!

Off to do some grocery shopping before more severe weather(tornadoes, hail, high winds, heavy rain) is due tomorrow.  Spring was slow to get here this year but it is coming with a bang.

I think we all have earned a good day so let's make sure to have one.

Good morning.  I wrote an earlier message, but must not have remembered to hit the post.

Shirley, so glad to see you message this morning.   Being hungry is a good sign.  Just remember to follow the doctor's orders,  or we all might be knocking your door down. LOL   Maybe,  catch up on a some reading, or find a good movie to watch on TV.

It is a very cloudy , miserable morning.  I have not heard the weather so far this morning,  but I do remember hearing something yesterday about some rough weather coming in tomorrow.

I have not been up too long,so I need to get something to eat.  Hope everyone will have a great day.

Shirley, it is good to hear that you are up but please don't get atem yet.

I think we are having rain but I can't see out the window.  I think I heard thunderstorm in the forecast.  Looking at the radar, rain and storm are moving toward the northwest and we are just north of the radar.

Phyllis, our main hospital is named Spectrum and that is my first thought when I see the word.  Of course, we get the TV ads here.

Amy, it looks like you are west of the snow in your area.  Poor Jesse, I hope he is able to last the week as far as his surgeries are concerned.

I'd love to have every one of you show up on my door step & will put the cooffee & tea on immediately!  I do breathe so much better this morning I am shocked. I did not notice any improvement when the valve & bypasses done 6 years ago. Now if I can find a truce with Plavix, we will run up the flag.  I know when they gave me a double dose yesterday, ON AN EMPTY stomach, it would be a problem, but didn't expect this bad. Heart burn was smoking out my ears yesterday & not much better this morning. Enough about health & will report that we have beautiful, sunshine and the redbuds, crabapples & other blooming trees are gorgeous! The leaves on the trees have popped out & can hardly see across the river. Cats are sleeping in after their confusing day yesterday, I may join them. Thank you all for the encouragement, would love to hug each & every one.  :xoxo:

Joy, my sons convinced me to leave my computers on all the time, so I do. Now & then I will go wiggle the mouse & find I have to sign in because of updates. I'm afraid to shut down the old ones & let them run, even if not getting used every day.

Phyllis, as we drove through "Back Bay Blvd" yesterday I thought about your brother. It is a beautiful street, we drove through one way & came back through the park across the river to see from the other side. My friend's husband, a life long EAST sider told his wife that "if he every HAD to live on the west side it would be that street"... For you people that didn't know the history of Wichita, back in the days of Wyatt Earp the west side was where the bars & red light district started.  :2funny: We are very civilized and proper now.... most of the time.

Jane, my gr-daughter sent out e-mail with "suggestions" what each of us could fix for Easter brunch at their house. Daughter's whole family flying into St.Louis so the party is shrunk to half. My donation is deviled eggs & I am not going to dye them & let the kids hunt & devil them at their house, so will boil 36 eggs & when all done will have 72 halves ready to eat. They all bring more than needed but so good. I am not sure it's a wise thing to share all of our germs since everyone has some kind of bug right now, but may not be the same one. The kids get so many toys to find in the back yard they have to empty baskets over & over, not a lot of candy like ours did.

Amy, back in our dog days they didn't have a "halo" for them, but when she wagged her tail so hard on a sharp kitchen cabinet, she broke her tail. German Shepherd with a spiffy heavy tail that bent down about 5 inches from where it was attached. We made a cardboard sling & tied it to her hips, she wore for a while & all of a sudden it was healed & she could raise it when happy again. Love hearing about Jessie's days.

Hi, Bubble, nice to see you in here. Boy, my reputation has caught up with me, you think?  I will behave (for a week?).

Callie, did you get any of the storms yesterday?  I haven't been out to check my rain gauge but nothing overflowing. The Cleveland pear tree blossoms are stuck to the pool carpet, wind from the wrong directon!  I didn't hear news last night, hope no wind damage, we didn't get any. Today is clean up day & dumpster to the street so better get moving. Have a list of no-nos (nothing heavier than 10 lbs, no bending... so how do you clean a litter box straight up?, can't drive.. goodness, such a strain to be leashed!!!) Will discuss with the dictator the next phase of my fix...  ::) Terrific Thursday!

Oops, you popped in, Mary Ann. Thank you for the encouragement. I may hide when the next stage is offered. Not fun to lay still while "they" attack your body & can't understand what they say.

Hi Everyone. We have another cloudy but still nice day in preparation for tomorrow which may not be nice at all with a good chance of some severe storms tomorrow.  Scott and the girls were here last evening for dinner.  Right before they got here a couple of ladies from our Sunday School brought us a big meal of a lot of ham, squash casserole, lima beans and a great lemon pie.  Scott took are car back to his house last night to take it to the automotive place to get the oil changed.  They just called saying that work was done but that we needed two new tires and it was time to change the spark plugs and do some other maintenance work.  It will be a little less than $700 dollars and I went ahead and authorized them to do the work.  They were going to take Scott back to his house for the day and will come and get him this afternoon when the work is completed and he will bring the car back tonight when he comes out as he usually does on his days off.

I am going to just check in again today as my energy seems to be waning.  I appreciate all of the comments since I posted yesterday.

Shirley, glad the stenting is over and not surprised you are breathing better as that was always my experience.  The last two times they put in stents for me I was kept overnight in the hospital.  I am not a candidate for any more stents or catherizations of my heart unless I am able to survive my next heart attack.  Also will have no more heart surgeries. Give yourself a break and take things easy.  The world will go on whether you clean the litter box for a couple of days or ask one of your family to come over and do it. I was taken off Plavix for a few years but was put back on it in the last couple of years.

Good morning everyone. Another gloomy day here, had rain overnight.

JANE  thank you, No need to be sorry, it was just another day older.

LARRY  better thinking it was the day you had to go out and not missed your appointment.

Thanks for all the birthday greetings. One reason I never mention it is I feel funny when everyone mentions it. To me is has always been just another day.

SHIRLEY  before my 3 year old was born my grandson and his wife were hoping he would have red hair like my grandson but he has dark hair like his Mom but loving and smart like his Dad.

JOY  any day I get to see my little one is a special day.

JENNY  that Florida woman was crazy. I was on the news about closing the Denver schools to be on the safe side.

AMY  don't think I ever saw a 6 month old pup quiet unless they were sleeping.

SHIRLEY  I kept reading hoping we would hear something from you. Hope you had a good sleep last night. Take care of YOU and let your family help you. That  coming from me who hates it when someone has to help me with what I believe is my work.

Better get a move on and get dressed before my CNA gets here.
Have a good day.

GOOD MORNING❣️

So good to see your posts, SHIRLEY❣️ Our prayers were answered and it sure is good to read that you are breathing better and taking good care of yourself.  Keep it up, please and do try your best to not OVER DO it🤣🤣🤬🤬

AMY, sounds like Jesse did great and now you will just have to do your best to keep him as calm as possible as he heals.  You are taking such good care of him....he is a lucky little boy💞

LARRY, how nice to read about your church ladies bringing you such a nice meal last night.  Seems there is always something EXTRA that has to be done to our vehicles when we take them in. I am sure happy Scott is there to help you out.  Hugs to you and Pat.

GLORIA, there is so many unanswered questions about this Florida Gal, and how she did this all on her own, etc. leaving speculation that she may not have acted alone.  It is a scary world we live in these days.  The whole story is pretty bazaar! Unfortunately, copy cats are always a big concern.

PHYLLIS, we all know there is no such thing as SIMPLE instructions!  Glad you and David managed to get it up and running.

SANDY, BIG RED FLAG when a 18 year old can go in a gun store and purchase a shot gun and three boxes of ammo with a out of state license! The man that sold her the gun admits he was skeptical of her, partly because of her camouflage pants, but he said she talked a likable story and the laws are such she passed the criteria with flying colors🤬. The gun shop was within 2 Miles from Columbine High School, but MANY, MANY miles from Denver International Airport.  How did she get there?  How did she get up in the mountains when she did not rent a car? She was not dressed for the elements....she was spotted running around necked and then the authority's found her dead from a self inflicted gun shot wound.....VERY SAD AND BAZAAR🧐

I must get busy.....have a good day EVERYFRIEND.

Jenn

Jane, I also need to make mustard, we have about I/2 inch in a small jar left. I did make 6 banana orange loaves again. These I hope to freeze..

I listened to the loons this morning ,so nice to hear their calls echo across the lake. The swallows are also back and I thought this was rather early for them???

Guess I had better get my jars ready and make that mustard.

Well, I have four beautiful jars of mustard sitting on the counter cooling off.  And I had some that wasn't a jar's worth that I used on my lunch sandwich.  Whoooo Hooo!  it's go-oooood!  And now I have to order more dry mustard from the spice place.  I can order on line, and opt for picking it up at the warehouse and save shipping charges.  The warehouse is abut 10 miles away.

It sounds like Everyfriend is having a good day.  So am I!  BBL to see what ya'll are up to!  I'm really glad we don't have to go sit on SHIRLEY.  Then she really wouldn't be able to breathe!

I'm home and I'm tired...not exhausted, just tired.  It was busy up the gazoo!  I only noticed one register that wasn't open for most of the morning and the part of the afternoon that I was there.  No one can say our WM doesn't have it's registers open.

I shopped my way out of the store, picking up a couple of items that I remembered I need and then came home.

Now I'm going to go close my eyes for a bit and let the zzzzs take over until the dogs start nagging me for supper.  I hope you had a lovely day.  Welcome home, Carol!

Carol,  the hail/wind were worse on the other side of I-35 than in my area. We did get a good soaking rain, though.

On Monday, I discovered I had ordered checks for the wrong account so went to the bank to get help.  Got help with that - but then my driver's license wasn't in its regular place in my billfold.   Turned the house upside down - no luck.  Gathered info to take to tag office for replacement on Tuesday morning.  Just before going to bed, I thought of one more place to look.  And there it was!!!!!   I had changed purses to go out one evening and had put license and some cash in a small coin purse that I usually keep mints and Tums in.  I'd put the coin purse back in my regular purse without clearing it out.  DUH!!!! .....and also WHEW!!!!

Tuesday and Wednesday busy with errands and laundry.

Yesterday was the loveliest day I've had in several weeks.  Beautiful sunshine - just a light breeze.  Neighbors had seen a hummingbird or two so in the morning I made syrup and put mine out.  Then I filled the bird feeders and cleaned/filled the bird bath.
Neighbors had also heard/seen mosquitoes so I put mosquito dunks in the French drains, the bird bath - and, after reading the directions, put small chunks of dunk :) in the planters - because they were so soggy.

After lunch,  I cleaned the garden clippers, etc. - and then spent the rest of the afternoon reading on the patio.
I happened to look up just as a hummer darted on and off the feeder.  Probably a Scout but now they'll know it's there.

This afternoon my neighbor discovered that one of the feral cats we've seen around for a while had had 3 kittens in the back of her flower bed.  We are not allowed to put feed out for any kind of animal so it remains to be seen what will happen to them.  The mama ran away and, although she's obviously used to seeing people around, we wonder if she will move them.

I'm beginning to start to commence preparing my part of Easter lunch.  Most of the family will gather here early afternoon.  I expect to find some of them here when I get home from church..    Miss Emily isn't coming home because she has Finals next week and will then have a 2-week break between terms.  Sir Carson/girlfriend are coming directly from OSU and go directly back.

#2 son appeared last Sunday to tell me dil had been in the hospital for four days with pancreatis (sp?).  She didn't go home until Tuesday and, although she's doing okay, I don't know what their plans are for Easter. She will be on a very limited diet for quite a while - and will have to make some BIG changes permanently that she isn't going to like very much.

And that's what's going on in my little part of the world.

Hugs to Everyfriend and Best Wishes for a Blessed Easter.

Just got back from the trip to son's house to pick up all my medical papers & this instant realized I did NOT do that! I was concentrating on others things, like stopping at the store to pick up that 3rd prescription & then to Long John Silver's for one piece of fish & across the street to Braums for a "twisty" cone, frozen yogurt in a crispy waffle cone. Callie knows about them, don't you, Callie.

I passed on the pills since the Pharmacist said they were "the same family" as one I had a bad reaction with but there is a smaller dosage, that I could wait & talk it over with my doctor. This doctor is top of my list for do not trust... whatever he slipped in my IV has kept me drowsy ever since. I ate my fish & the cone & am sleepy again, without accomplishing anything today.

Lloyd, do let me know when you & Nancy think you will hit Wichita because I have to meet with the cardiologist to talk over when he's going to put that new valve in. My son was saying they told me to "report in" within 5 days, I'm hoping to put off the valve job for 2 weeks but the doctor was saying a week. I think I explained to you that I live on a narrow street & is illegal to park an RV on the street... and my driveway doesn't have room for 2 RVs, so I will need to come meet you when you stop. I am on the WEST side of town. I sent you my phone number...

Glad you made it home safe, Carol. We've made trips into the 4 corners area, each so different, candy for the eyes, for sure. That swing up through Monument Valley was one amazing sight after another. Honestly, watching some old John Wayne westerns today, reminded me that all those spires & gullies one expected him to pop out. That is one drive I would love to take over.

Well, Kids, think I will get ready for bed. Need to boil the next 18 eggs & then peel & cut in half, I can stack the whites up & mix the yolks in a bowl to refrigerate until Sunday after church. Our brunch isn't until 10:00 am so will fill them & put the paprika on when I get to their house. Don't know how else to transport 36 eggs cut in half to make 72 deviled eggs.... well, minus the 2 that I have to test. We used to put all the eggs out for the hunt but the kids were more excited about toys & eggs got pretty battered being tossed into the baskets. Times change.....

I guess I was more tired than I thought when I got home from work.  I did a few small chores, took a short nap, chased the doggies out between rain storms, fed them, fed me and loafed the rest of the evening.

Now I'm going to chase them out again because I think the rain stopped and then, when they are all dried off, we'll go to bed.  Tomorrow will be another day.

I begged a ride to the Easter Vigil Service tomorrow.  It's a combined service for all the Episcopal Churches in this area and is about a half hour from here.  My ride is with our priest and her husband.  He got descriptions and directions from me before last night's service and then said, "and the cost will only be 200".  I said "200 stones, 200 peanuts, 200 corn kernels...."  We settled on the corn kernels.  He's not expecting anything but I packed up two bags of microwave popcorn with a not saying that I had counted the kernels in each bag and there are exactly 102 in each bag.  I said that he can consider the extra 4 a tip.  It will be interesting to see his reaction.

Now I'm off to shoo the doggies out.  Good night Everyfriend and may God bless us, every one!

Way past my bed time....so this will be short!

We kept busy today, and the day really went by quickly.  BTW, a belated GOOD Friday or Passover which ever applies.  It sure was a beautiful day here.

Michele was not good again today.....Bless her heart.  She is just so out of it with O energy and has not had one good day this week.  We feel so bad for her.  We hope tomorrow WILL be better and especially that Easter Sunday will be.

Our TV  news is non stop with the memories of the Columbine School Massacre!  Tomorrow is the 20th anniversary.  Today there were two reports of guns at one middle and one high school🤬. So sad.

AMY, hope Jesse Boy had a good day!

Lordy mercy, SHIRLEY, you just can not slow down can you? I know you have things that NEED done.....BUT BUT BUT, we just want you to take care of yourself❣️

Tomorrow is 4/20..... not a good day in Denver.....all the participants gather in one of our parks downtown and illegally SMOKE POT in our public park.  They leave huge messes and traffic is all messed up....not something we like one bit🤬🤬

I must say goodnight......💤 are needed right now.

Pleasant dreams to all,

Jenn

Thank you, Bubble.... what a treat to see. So nice to remember people we care about.,, How lucky we are to have known each other. So glad you saved that. I'm sure Don regrets not being able to share your holiday, I miss seeing your yummy foods and photos of the day.  Blessings to you (and you, Don), and this whole big family of Seniors!  I am disappointed that my church services are all late evening & I don't drive after dark, but I will be at the Sunday morning service.

I woke up to a cat staring in the sliding door at me so got up & let her in. She likes to cuddle but this morning kept popping up to look out the door. I finally turned around & sure enough, there was Tom waiting to come in. Got up & fed them breakfast, looked out all the doors but no sign of Callie. She tends to sleep later that her kids. Oops, there she is!  Spoiled cats, put some people tuna (Starkist) in a dish & none of them will eat it this morning... all expect salmon or will just have some Friskies "Indoor Delight" dry. Not much spoiled, huh?

Jenn, so sorry about Michele feeling so bad, how much longer are the treatments?  She is in my thoughts & prayers.

That's how I felt, Jane!

O my gosh, Bubble! That was a long time ago.  4 of us are gone and sadly missed.  The remaining 4 are still hanging in here.

Had a Shingrix/Shingles shot yesterday.  Not feeling too good but will get over it, I expect.

Rough weather of tornadoes, high winds, and rain all around us yesterday but we are OK.  Tornadoes were too close for comfort.

Lots of things to be thankful for on this Easter weekend.

Happy Easter or Passover, everyone!

Good morning everyone...
Another rainy day here heard a road washed out to the north of us yesterday.

Laundry day today but no hanging out. I want to make read and some baked goods today. Will see just how far the energy level goes.

Bubble, cute bunch of chicks you have there!!

Shirley, how about slowing down to just 100 MPH instead of 150? Happy to read that you are doing great.

Phyliss,I waited till I had no waltzes or dances with the snow removal toys and then I had my second shingle shot. Gosh it does make your arm sore!! Hope you feel better soon.

Jenny, Michele is going through a rough time and I hope soon it starts to get better for her.

Gloria and Joy are MIA...along with Gloria de.

I am off to get some work done.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, Amy and all the other friends.

Amy,  I have had to limit my time on the computer.  I just have been spending way too much time and, I have my timer set for 30 min. and it is almost up

I was up early and made some little cinnamon pastry bites.  Just dough covered with sugar and cinnamon and rolled up and cut into little bite-sized pieces.  I like to make my own pie crust,  but find it getting more difficult to make. So, my SIL sent me a box of Jiffy pie crust mix and I mixed it up yesterday.   Baked them this morning.... cut up some grapes, and now will go make a cup of coffee and have my breakfast.  I really wanted to start back doing my Tai Chi sitting exercises.  I  hope I can make myself keep it up. I need to get some energy.

I will try to get back here later in the day.  Only 1 thing on my to-do list for today  right now.  My son is picking up a coconut cake at a local bakery and he doesn't have room in his fridge to put it, so I have to find some room in mind.

I will be going to my oldest son's for dinner.  He is an excellent cook, so I always know I will get a good meal, and maybe,  even bring home a doggy-bag.

My timer  is beeping.

Have a good day.

Joy

My son and DIL appeared at my door about 7;45 a.m this morning.  They were picking up his truck since the recycle center opens at 8 but we had a short visit.  The outcome is that I've been assigned to make scalloped potatoes for the Easter dinner.  That means I'll have to stop by the store and pick up some potatoes.  I used the last of mine this week.

I guess I better get on my horse and give him a nudge!  It's going to be another busy day.  I wish you all well and I keep you in my prayers!

Good morning everyone, what  a day yesterday, woke late and phone rang, my DIL said she would be here to cut my hair. Had to rush breakfast  and get dressed. Then CNA got here, and the witch was here to inspect my apartment. Only complaint she had was I had dirty windows. Something else I can no longer do. Looks like I will have to ask my son to wash them, CNA's aren't allowed to do them. With all the rain the outside is what  is dirty and I cannot  reach up to release them and tip them in to do the outside. Fun place to live? NO. Raining again today and maybe all day tomorrow,  going to my son's. Dislike going out in the rain anymore.

SHIRLEY  hope you are taking it easy. We want you with us for a lot more years.

JENNY  some people just want their 15 minutes of fame, could be that crazy woman wanted that.

LLOYD  you will get to  see a lot of our beautiful country in your travels.

CALLIE  what are mosquito dunks? Never heard of them.

JANE  like your sense of humor with the 102 kernels in each bag.

BUBBLE  that  sure is an old memory. I still have the one Bunnie did of the old Nest group and I have the Christmas tree I did way back with Joan the star at the top and everyone else in it. Thanks for posting this.

AMY  I am not missing, I know where I am.  Too busy all day yesterday.

JOY  I don't set a timer for my computer time, my back lets me know.

Have a good day and
HAPPY EASTER, might not have time to post tomorrow..

Amy, I copied your bunny jokes & sent to my daughter... she has her 4 kids & 6 grands at their house this week end. Think she bought out Amazon of toys, even bikes for all ages (still working on getting the guys to help put them together). They have a huge house & she has beds for all, including getting some colorful tents with mattresses for several of the older ones (oldest is 7 down to about year & half). They live in St.Louis so unlimited things to see, but all want to just hang around the house & play in the yard. Said her Fitbit said she had over 15,000 steps yesterday and didn't need the treadmill.

Larry, I know you said you aren't a candidate for more stents or other procedures, but has you seen another doctor recently to get another opinion?  Reason I'm asking is that I was told that "we don't do anything to repair the tricuspid valve"... and I accepted that statement.... until my son sat here & seconds later had Mayo up on his phone and said, "Mayo does!" So I was told right, THIS group doesn't do that type work but others do. My Echo shows the tricuspid is critical but the aortic they can repair with the TVAR process... only has a "leakage" but rating was not critical. Makes me less than eager to have that job done right now since they don't last very long. Wish we could get you fixed to feel better.

Just no more doctors. I just can roam around my home attached to the oxygen, I am content with this set up. My DIL from Mass. will be down for a few day next week. Hope everyone will have a wonderful day.  A day with friends and/or family.  Hope it will be a very special day no matter what you plan to do.  Have fun and enjoy your surroundings.

Jackie, it sounds like you are feeling better and I am glad to hear that you had such a nice day.  Each day will get a little bit better, but you will still have some little bumps in the road to get through.  My thoughts and prayers continue for you.

I am trying not to spend too much time on the computer for a while, anyway.

At least, I am making a presence !!  Enjoy the day !!!

Hi Everyone and HAPPY EASTER.  We have a beautiful Easter morning here but it is a bit cool and we will only see about 70 degrees later today.  Scott and the girls arrived a little before eleven for an early Easter meal with us as Scott has to be at work at 2 pm so will need to leave here around 1 pm.  I am sure the girls will also leave about the same time.  Scott is going to fix the green bean casserole  and the scalloped potatoes, the ham is pre-sliced and Pat will get it arrayed on the plate.  One of the girls will make the ambrosia salad.  After dinner will be time to rest for awhile and and listen to the recording of last weeks Church Service then plan on watching the end of the golf tournament, which is being hold at Hilton Head, SC this week.

After the rather miserable day on Friday that I spend mainly in bed, yesterday was a great day and I felt much better.  I am hopeful today will be about the same but can already tell it won't be a repeat of yesterday as not quite a peppy this morning. I always dread that time of the year when it is time to renew the Dish contract (every two years) and also see about getting a new promotional rate from Comcast.  I tackled both yesterday with very satisfactory results.  The Dish contract for the next two years gives me the same TV package and they are going to upgrade the Hopper where we will be able to record 500 hours of programming and up to 16 programs at the same time (I can't image why anyone would do that.)  The good news was by agreeing to have a paperless billing and automatic payment my bill will actually be about $4 less a month than I have paid the last two years.  Then the icing on the cake was when I later talked with Comcast I was able to get a promotional plan with the same Internet speed as I have had (25 megs) which is more than sufficient for us they gave me a new rate that saves me $20 a month from what I had paid the last year.  So I was a happy camper and was glad to have those chores out of the way.  I was also able to clear off my desk, which I had let pile up as hadn't felt like tending to it.

Shirley, I have had three different cardiologists tell me I am not a candidate for any more caths (I guess 30 plus is enough) as there are no more places the stents would help.  I have known for many years that I wasn't a candidate for more heart surgery as there is so much scar tissue.  It sounds like Christmas all over for your daughters grand children.  I don't envy the guys having too put together more than one bicycle.  You enjoy life too much and your cats need you to not take care of the critical tricuspid problems.

Lindancer, glad to see you are content with your situation as that makes your life and those that love you easier.

Lloyd, saw you were going to have warmer weather today than we are.  Maybe you will sleep through the thunderstorms tonight if they develop in your area.

Amy, I expect you all need a few days with not having to do a lot of running.  More time for your quilting?

Mycheal, did you compose that poem for Easter.  It is a good one.

We are enjoying a beautiful morning.....so very thankful and blessed on this  Easter Day🙏

Rain is predicted to start early this afternoon. So the weather guessers we're saying to get your outside fun done early in the day.  Right now it does not look even threating at all❣️

AMY, thank you for sharing the beautiful Jacquie Lawson  EASTER Card.  I really enjoyed it. Right now we are planning to stay home today also.

MYCHEAL, your Easter Poem is delightful....thank you for sharing.

LARRY, so good to see your post, and to read that you enjoyed a nice day yesterday.  Happy your family will all be together today.

Enjoy this BLESSED DAY.

EDIT:::::
Son Dave just called and Michele really wants us to share dinner with them today, so OF COURSE we are going to go.  I wanted to fix a Easter Meal for them, but Dave would not hear of it....he never wants me to have to do things and he is so appreciative of any thing we do help out with. I have to admit this phone call made my day.

Today was a special day!  It's Easter!  I spent part of it with my son, DIL and Kiran!  I went to church and such a happy service!  I brought home enough food for my dinner tomorrow.  All I was required to make was a pan of scalloped potatoes and they kept most of the (at my urging) because I know how much they like them.

I spent time with the doggies and I had my nap.

Now the doggies are going out one more time and we're off to bed!  I wish you all a peaceful sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

P.S.  JENNY, I was so happy to hear that Michele felt well enough to want to celebrate.  She is one special lady!

Good morning everyone.
Looks as though it may be clearing up. Today is chasing dust bunnies, the chocolate bunnies have eluded me :) We need to take garbage away to the dump and then home to try and get this quilt ready to go by Thur.
Mycheal, thank you for sharing your beautiful poem.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Thanks for the reminder, AMY.

MYCHEAL, I forgot to say that I enjoyed your poem, too.  And I knew you wrote it because you used my (invented) word "everyfriend".  Of course, I did notice that you separated it to make it good English but it was still the same.  And it was entirely  lovely.  Thank you!

I'm off to get ready to greet my public at WM!  Have a great day, Everyfriend.  It's yours to make special!

Good morning everyone.  Hope everyone had a great Easter. Started rainy here but late afternoon it got sunny, in between mostly cloudy but had a great time at my son's home. My grandson hid eggs for my great grand and that was fun to watch. Dinner was wonderful, my DIL is a good cook. Of course my back acted up, to much sitting and had to ask my son to take me home way too early but at least I waited till they had coffee and desert, I passed on that. Will be glad when my CNA gets here later and gives me a back massage. That will help a lot..

AMY  I can imagine my great grand coming up with those bunny jokes in another year or so.

LARRY  just a short hello from you makes us feel better. I know I have days when I just cannot sit here and do that and I feel bad about it.

SHIRLEY  there was a time I think we all had a houseful of people for every holiday but now I know I get tired just being in a big group with all the noise. Just one active almost 4 year old yesterday and watching him tired me. Wonder if that is a sign of old age or being a cranky old woman.

BUBBLE  I will have to hunt the Christmas tree one but the one Bunnie did I printed and have in a frame. I often wish the names were on them because I cannot remember the name of some of them.

LLOYD  remember that Bunnie was called the picture lady?  She wanted all of us to have our photo in out files so we could see what we all looked like. She would also post photos we sent her for us. Something that now Bubble does. I do admire people who are so helpful.

GLORIA  de  there is a man here who now has hospice. His wife  lives here, too, and is blind, has a seeing eye dog and a few people who live here help a bit. Both nice people.

JENNY  glad the Michele felt well enough to want you there for Easter.

JANE  I love home made scalloped potatoes. My son would bring a meal upstairs for me with scalloped potatoes from a package and to me it was like eating glue. After the first bite I would throw them away. He always did most of the coo‌king and still does. My other DIL is a good cook and now that her and my son are both retired he helps with the coo‌king. He retired a few months before her and would have supper waiting for her when she got home. I have had some of the meals he made and he is a good cook, too.

AMY  I woke to sunshine but cloudy now and rain coming later, Loo like rain most every day this week.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  We are in for several days of sunny and warmer weather with highs in most days in the 80's.  Rain isn't forecast until Friday although things can change in a few days down this way.  We had a nice Easter dinner.  The kids got here around 11 and pitched in an fixed the dinner.  Pat put the hams in the Instant Pot with a glaze on them and the meat turned out very tasty.  She had about 7 pounds of ham in two sliced pieces and rather than hours in the oven it took maybe 25 minutes in the Instant Pot.  We were able to eat in time that Scott could leave at 1 pm and the girls left shortly thereafter and we sort of collapsed for the rest of the day.  Today Pat has our housekeeper back to help with some things like taking the dishes out of the China Cabinet and washing them and I don't know what else she has on the list.  These are things the housekeeper doesn't have time for in her normal cleaning visits.  I plan a nice quiet day today with some extra rest as not as peppy as the last couple of days but I did empty the dishwasher for Pat and put here breakfast tray together so things are on schedule.

I have read all of the postings since I last posted yesterday and think I will just check in this morning as most of what I would probably say has already been said by others.

Merry Monday,

One son and dil were here when I got home from church.  Other son/dil and grandson/girlfriend arrived shortly thereafter.

I'd made 'my' chocolate dessert and a strawberry dump cake.  Was surprised when there wasn't a spoonful of the dump cake left - but most of the chocolate dessert.  Maybe this means I can change my "usual".  Hooray!  :) :)

I mentioned that I'd like to have help planting pots on patio and planters in yard as my Mother's Day present - "any time between now and then".
Before I knew it,  the two dils and girlfriend had discussed choices, made a list and planned a mutually convenient day this very week to take me to get the plants - and for husbands to join them (us) next weekend to get everything in.  (Grandson/girlfriend won't be here because they have school obligations but Miss Emily will be here for a 2 week break between terms.)

The guys cleaned up the kitchen while we were doing this!

I'm so grateful to be blessed with this kind of family!

Plan du Jour is laundry and organize the left-overs that were put in my fridge.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

WOOOO!!!  Where is everyfriend?  No one visited the Soda Shoppe since yesterday suppertime!

I slept away most of last night.  I was so tired I couldn't think straight.  And all the crooked thoughts were crazy.  So I closed my eyes.

And today doesn't look like it's going to be much better.  First off, I dumped a quart of yogurt on the front inside of the fridge, the floor and my clean bedroom slippers.  I dislike cleaning that stuff anyway and I had to do it first thing this morning.  I can hear all of you laughing and that's alright.  Everyone needs something to laugh at first thing in the morning!  But when you're finished laughing, please say a little prayer that things will get better.

One good thing did happen yesterday.  The yard guy that I like called me back and he's going to start his part of the yard project next week.  He's also going to take over the mowing when my SIL has surgery on his right elbow next month.  So I won't be having grass and weeds up the gazoo!

I wish you all a better start to your day than I had and a good continuance.

I'll just do a quick check-in.  My washer died yesterday and, of course, with a load of clothes in it that had to be hand wrung and put in the dryer.  So, I'm off and running today to find a new washer/dryer that can be delivered and installed.....SOON.  I've been expecting it to happen since the current washer/dryer set is somewhere between 28 and 30 years old.  But, isn't it always something?!

Good morning everyone, raining again here. About now I am ready t o live in a dry desert  to get away from humidity and dampness.

CALLIE  with my CNA's help I made a dump cake and she had never heard of them before. Easy to make and good tasting.

JANE  hope the rest of the day improves for you.

AMY with all this rain I am surprised we haven't  had any flooding, maybe because it has not been continuous downpours.

PHYLLIS new washer/dryer will not last as long as your old one. Things are not made to last long anymore it seems.

LARRY  prayers every thing goes good today.

Have a good day.

Good morning.  A pretty sunny morning here and supposed to go up to 80º later today.

I did not make it in here yesterday.  Just got busy and forgot.   I am trying to  limit my computer time for a  little while.

I did have a nice Easter Sunday.  My son had a delicious dinner and even got a doggie bag for my dinner last night.

It was a nice day, after the weatherman's prediction of showers.  Didn't happen where I  was.  It was a little chilly, but we still were able to eat out on their deck.  My son has these big tall propane heaters and it was very comfortable.  Lots of good food and good company.

Nothing special going on today, except for my card game tonight.  Just have to get moving a little bit.

Larry, good luck with your hospital appointment.   Hope everything will go well and you will not wear you out too much. Good that Scott is able to take you.

Gloria, sorry your area is having so much rain.  My grand daughter, in Connecticut, told me that they had a rainy Easter.  The couldn't do much outside.  I am afraid that the whole east coast is in for a rainy summer.   Your dump cake sounds so good.

Jane,  I sympathize with your yogurt accident this morning.  I have been having so many spills like that lately.  My fingers don't work real well anymore and sometimes, I try to rush too much and wind up with the same kind of accident.  Not fun when you have to stop and clean up the mess.   I have trouble bending over, so I have found that I can do a pretty good job using a bunch of paper towels and my grabber-tool.

Callie,  that will be a nice Mother's Day gift from your family.  That kind of a helping-hand gift is so much better than anything they could do for you.

Hope everyone will have a great day.

Joy

JOY, the worst part of cleaning up the yogurt was that both dogs offered to help with their tongues.  Keeping them out of it and cleaning it up took about 6 hands and a good body block!

Jane, dogs can be so helpful in situations like that.  When we had a dog (a lonnnggg time ago), we'd call her to clean up many of our food droppings.  She did a good job.

That makes me think - my grandmother lived with us when we had the dog and after a meal, especially meat and gravy, we'd let the dog lick the plate.  Grandma was horrified.  We didn't have a dishwasher in those days, but we did wash the dishes in hot water and we rinsed them with scalding water.  No one got sick, so I think we did OK.  Things were a lot different in the "good old days".

Good Morning from a soggy central Oklahoma,

If it continues to rain like the forecasters say - dils and I will have to reschedule the plant shopping trip.

Gloria,  re:  your dump cake:  do you mix melted butter with the cake mix and "drop" it on top of the pie filling or spread the dry cake mix over the pie filling and then drizzle the melted butter over it?  My mother did it that way and my other recipe mixes the butter/cake mix - and then tops it with slivered almonds.  I think this looks better - but Mother's easy way tastes just as good.
Have you tried apple pie filling with Spice cake mix?  Yummy in the fall and winter.

A friend wanted to meet for lunch "some time soon" so I invited her to come today for Easter left-overs - and she accepted.  I always keep a bag of slider sandwiches in the freezer so will have those along with the pasta salad and chocolate dessert.  Even had some pickles and carrots left from the relish tray.  What a deal!  ;)

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Jane, Lloyd beat us both here this morning. Both these dogs love yogurt, when I make it I save the whey and they also like that on their food.
We went into town and oh my the flooding has began. One Tim Hortons now has a ramp to get through the take out area. Another business is closed as it is surrounded by water! They say we have 2 days of rain to look forward to and that won't help matters.

Getting some sewing done and noticed I had one block sewn in upside down so had a date with Jack.the seam ripper. Now it is sewn back in the right way.

Callie and Gloria , you both are making me hungry with that cake!! Now I am thinking chocolate cake and cherry pie filling???

Back to sewing..

🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES 🎂
💐 MARYANN 💐

Crazy day here....we have been trying to get new skylights installed since last September and it finally happened today.  It is so bright in my living room I am afraid I may get a sunburn!  Many times we have been ready to move on and tell this guy who installed them that we are no longer interested because of the delays.  The old ones were the original ones and they were still in good condition however in the winter so much cold air would come down and the thought was that they were a double layer plastic material and these are a clear double glass.  We were told these are made here, so a local company and that it should make all the difference in the world.  We shall see.  Now let's hope they also will not let too much heat!

I loved reading about all the Easter meals and time with families that you all have shared.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts with all of us.

We did enjoy our time with Dave and the family and our meal was delicious.  Michele looked so tired and very pale, but she did eat with us then went straight up to bed.  My heart just aches for her.  I know many go through this awful time with chemo/radiation, but I sure wonder HOW?  The meds are just poison and do so much damage to the system.  Thank you all again for your continued support of positive thoughts and prayers.

JANE, I just want you to know that I did NOT laugh at you having to clean the dropped yogurt off of,the floor.  I am smiling that the yard person is going to be able to get started on his part of your NEW yard.

PHYLLIS, sorry to read about your washer dying on you....I have had to wring out soaking wet clothes
Before and I know what a hard task that is!  I hope you were able to find a replacement pair and know that it is true they will never ever last as long as your old ones😢😢

LARRY, I hope by now you are at home and resting after your tests and blood work today.  I certainly hope you will get good results from them soon.

I am worried that we have not had a post from you, SHIRLEY, since Easter.  I do hope you are doing OK?

I wish EVERYFRIEND a good day.

Jenn

Happy Birthday, Mary Ann! Happy Birthday, Mary Ann!

Jenn, sorry I've been missing but cannot get my head straight. I honestly did not know Plavix could have so many side effects and after reading the list am comforted to know all these things going on with my body actually have an excuse! Every time I think of what Michele is going through I feel guilty for complaining, but my body is so angry at having anything pumped into it's system, it rebels in every way. So far I have not called the cardio's office to even set up an appointment to discuss having the valve replaced, my head and body are not ready for another invasion. I told my kids that I don't want to become that little old lady sitting in the corner of a nursing home waiting for someone to feed me because "pills" have taken over my mind. I would rather have one good year of being ME than a dozen years of being a zombie. This doctor does not believe I am serious about this and I am not mentally ready to meet him head on. Do I have a problem??!!!

Temps really dropped today, a little rain & that damp cold that chills to the bone. I did get to Sam's Club & bought a beautiful box of strawberries & those yummy pound cakes to put them on (& Cool Whip over that). Food sounds good until I have a bite & it sticks in my throat, another of the side effects... but soup is going down pretty good. Today the tummy aches so I remind myself of how much worse Michele is than me. All I have to do is close my eyes & go back to sleep. Do not know if it is better to just sleep this off or if lack of exercise will do more harm. The procedure and drugs hit last Wednesday but Plavix only started Sat. Got the dye out of my body & whatever he added to the IV, but the head is not clearing up so I can take charge.

I have been to read several times a day but taking care of the cats & myself, as well as keeping up with the house is all I am getting done. Don't worry about me, I know taking Plavix is NOT fatal, I just feel crappy.  :crazy2:

Prayers on going for every friend in need, I fall asleep talking to God & Fitbit tells me that I am always asleep in less than 5 minutes... condensed prayers, but sincere!

Amy and Shirley, thank you both for the birthday greetings.  I don't feel a day older than yesterday!

Shirley, I'm so sorry you are having problems or after effects from your meds.  You are probably the only person I have heard of who is so sensitive to meds.  I think you're right to confront your doctor and give him the facts.

Mary Ann, I'm sorry I am a day late.  Happy Birthday! Enjoy your weekend party with family.

"Jack.the seam ripper"   Oh, Amy, you gave me such a good laugh.  I hadn't heard that one before even though I've used a seam ripper MANY times.

Gloria, I know appliances aren't built to last as long as they used to but at my mature age I doubt that I'll care if the new ones will last another 25 or 30 years.   :D   If they just work right and last until I no longer am able to do household chores, then I don't really care.

I found a new washer/dryer set that is very similar to my old set.  I can only hope that they will serve me as well as these have.  The downside is that they will not be delivered until May 4th.  So, it is off to the washateria for me today.  I DO NOT like hand washing and wringing wet clothes.  Thank goodness, the dryer is still working.

I hope everyone gets through their duties for the day in an easy way and that all goes well for you.

Thank you all for the belated birthday greetings, I do appreciate them.  And I'm glad I'm still around to get them!

Jane, the family is having a party for me on your birthday.  We will go to a nearby country club and there should be around 15-20 people there - my family is small and a couple of them are in California.  What excites me is that three of Norm's greats will be there - two 2-years olds and a 3-year old.  The two-year old know me, but I haven't seen the three-year old since she was less than a year old.  Her family lives near Lansing MI and they don't get this way often.

Phyllis, I moved to this condo almost 38 years ago and my washer lasted until a couple of years ago; the dryer was still working but had had a heat unit replaced.  I'm on my 3rd refrigerator and 2nd range.  We just replaced the lighting fixtures in the two baths and in my upstairs bath you can see every pore in my face!  Tom got 60w bulbs - 3 of them and they do light up the place.  For 38 years, I am not unhappy about the length of service from any of them.  For many of those years I was alone, but not all of them.

Hi Everyone.  I was just about ready to hit the posting button and my finger hit some key and I lost my posting.  It is a beautiful morning, bright and clear and will be in the high 80's again today.  My tests went well yesterday with most of the time involved was registering and waiting to be called.  I was gone for 2 hours but it really left me tired.

The Dish Tech has been here and gone.  He worked very quickly installing the new equipment and getting everything working.  The old equipment is now in the process of transferring the recordings that Pat had saved to the new equipment.  The old Hopper would hold up to 200 hours of recording on 3 channel while this new one will do 500 hours on 16 channels.  The transfer process may take a day or longer so they will be sending me a box with a prepaid label to return the old equipment when the transfer is complete.

Scott will be here late this afternoon and friends from my Sunday School class are bringing us the Wednesday night dinners from the Church.  The told the girls they could eat out and then come on over and we would reimburse them for the cost of their meals.  This way Pat wouldn't have to do any cooking today.

Gloria, my wife has made many dump cakes and I agree they are delicious although it has been awhile since we have had one.  My day yesterday went OK although I was exhausted for the rest of the day but hadn't been feeling up to par before we left for the appointment.  I was most thankful that Scott could take me as wasn't up to the walking that would have been involved had Pat had to take me and she was glad he was available.  A sore eye is very uncomfortable.  I spend a lot of time laying in bed with my eyes closed and sometimes in my easy chair when I don't feel up to using the iPad in the late afternoon.

Jane, at least you didn't have to clean up are of the yogurt by yourself as your dogs wanted to help.

Callie, I think the rains you had yesterday will be headed over our way by Friday.  It sounds like you had a good meal with your friend yesterday and visiting at home is much quieter than in a restaurant and you aren't hurried to give up your table.

Amy, sure glad your place isn't subject to flooding.  Having to close a business is bad for the bottom line or even having the lot partially flooded would discourage customers.  Pat enjoyed the initial sewing but hates the ripping out if necessary. I still have about 2 1/2 weeks before my next appointment with the foot doctor to have my toenails trimmed, something I am just not up to anymore.

Lindancer, I have taken Plavix for years as well except for a brief time when a new cardiologist took me off of it.

Phyllis, glad you found your new washer and dryer but having to wait for delivery is not good.  I hope the controls for your new equipment are easy to use.  The ones we got a few years have many different setting to deal with and it took me awhile to get used to them.  Since you can bring your wet clothes home to dry will certainly save you some dollars and the washaterias are a bit pricey these days.

Since a number of you also write in Norm's Bait and Table I haven't added any new comments here for you as said what I had to say there.  However, I have been wordy today.  I guess it helps to get up early as had a 7 am start due to the Dish Tech coming at 8 am and he was here at that time.  He got through in 90 minutes and this left Pat with enough time to go to her gifts group at Church, something she has not done for a fairly long time.  I hope she will have some friends to go out to lunch with if she is not too tired.

I had my yearly evaluation at work today and the outcome is that they're going to keep me around for another year.....or until I do something really far out and someone notices and complains!(https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/grin.png)(https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/wink.png)

LARRY, you do sound more like yourself today.  I hope that becomes permanent!

Where's Shirley?

One down and many more to go, I did get that quilt top done and ready to take in tomorrow! We went into town and the Foot clinic is safe so far from the water but they did sand bag part of the building where blood is drawn....and we haven't reached the crest yet. Wind, water and fire usually go where they want.

Jane, your company knows they have a good employee in you, they sure would be foolish to let you go!!!

Larry, I must admit I too love your post today..please take it easy. Happy to read your tests went well.

Gloria, I hope you got the drops for your eyes and they feel better now.

Phyliss, I date Jack the ripper a lot ,especially when I am not paying attention to how a block is sewn in. I had one upside down :(

Joy, please send some warm air this way. Can you believe the weatherman said maybe snow this weekend???

Off to get all the "stuff " I have to take with me ready for tomorrow..

Gloria de - no, I don't feel any different than I did Monday.  But I do realize I've reached an age where my family expects to do things for me, even though I feel many times that I could do them myself.  I let them - better than arguing.

Good morning everyone, wow finally had a perfect spring day yesterday, spent most of the day outside enjoying it. I did send my CNA for some eye drops and right away felt a difference in my eye. It's OK this morning, thank God. 40° now, big drop over night. Have to leave here at 10 for the dentist, one filing and a cleaning. Don't mind, both the dentist and the hygenist are great. Already had my shower so now for breakfast and getting dressed to go out. I am slow with every thing I do these days.

Have a good day everyone.

I'm off and running (well, in my case it is more like shuffling) again today.  I would very much like to discover a way to live and not eat.   ;D   But, until that happens, I have to go grocery shopping and before the rain comes in tonight and tomorrow.

Please have a good day and take care, Everyfriend.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I hope you all have a lovely day just as you wish it to be.  Mine will be busy!  I have to do a bit of cleaning in preparation for guests arriving tomorrow.  My cleaning dynamo didn't get here this week due to a house fire at her home.  No one was hurt but she lost just about everything.  I've talked to her and she will be resuming her cleaning schedule sometime but right now she has a lot on her plate.  I told her not to worry, just let me know when she's ready.  I also told her to allow me an extra hour here and there to play "catch-up".

Her fire was on Mar. 27th but you don't recover from something like that overnight.  I just can't imagine what she's going through!

This will be a busy weekend.  Two daughters are coming and two granddaughters.  And the community Arts Festival is this weekend.  I think I'll beg off walking the streets for the exhibits with the kids.  You don't suppose I'm getting "old", do you?

I guess I better get busy.  Enjoy your day whatever it brings.

P.S. to SANDY...There's a picture of FE in the column beside where I'm typing and she's so CUUUUTE!

Good Morning,

Had to turn on the heat this morning.  Thermostat read 69*.  Brrr!

Yesterday was a fantastic day with both daughters-in-law.  Patio is full of bedding plants.  They will come back (with husbands :) ) on Sunday to plant pots on patio, planters in flower beds and fill in areas around perennials in flower beds.  Will be very colorful.....IF I can keep up my part!

Off to play Bridge today.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Hi everyone.  Our skies are overcast at the moment but expect a combination of sun and clouds during the day with it getting up close to 90 this afternoon.  Nothing planned for today other than rest as can hardly hold my head up this morning.  It might have something to do with my low blood pressure this morning of 80/52.  We did have a nice visit with Scott last night and he will be back late this afternoon.  The girls didn't come out as Jennifer has been suffering with migraine headaches and said she had a sore throat so was glad she didn't bring that out.

I read the postings from yesterday last night when I went to bed and just now those added since that time last night.  While I can think of several comments I could make I am going to beg off for today as just don't have the energy. Hope to feel better tomorrow.  It seemed I have a good day or two and then slam right back where I started or perhaps a little worse.

Good afternoon......I wrote a post earlier but got called away and now there is no sign of it.

We had a new house cleaner come in today.  Tried one about three weeks ago and she was no better than I can do, and that is NOT MUCH!  There were 3 ladies, and I am very pleased to say they did a wonderful job.  It is pricey, but it sure makes me feel good to know that my home is clean.

We had a beautiful day yesterday and got the covers off of the patio furniture.  Unfortunately a squirrel or something got under the love seat and chewed apart three of my decorative pillows.  Thankfully there was only a couple of scratches on the cushions!  I even decided to buy a couple of color dishes of flowers which is a no no here before Mother's Day.....of course on the news last night they say we may have snow next week!  Gurrrr.

CALLIE, so happy your dil's are so good to you, coming in to plant your flowers for you.  How sweet.

GLORIA, sure glad the eye drops helped your eyes.

JANE, I am sorry to read about your cleaning duos fire in their home.  That is terrible.

We are going to head out and get a bite to eat....ya know I am tired after watching my cleaning gals spiffy up my home!🤪🥰🥰

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.

My Texas daughter arrived at my Lewisburg daughter's home at about 3 p.m. and I got there about 3:10.  We spent the next 3 hours talking about anything and everything and doing a lot of reminiscing.  Then I came home to feed my doggies.  They were going to order pizza for supper from Cindy's (and Cathy's) favorite local pizza place.  I was invited to stay but the doggies would never have forgiven me.

I took tomorrow off so when they're ready to do "something" they'll call me and I'll join them.

Now I'm off to bed so I'll be ready for tomorrow's activities and for the arrival of daughter #3 who will arrive at my house around 7 tomorrow.  It's gonna be a busy weekend!

I wonder where Shirley is?

Thank you, Jane, for missing me, I really did think I'd checked in every day but the brain has been mush this week. My kids have been calling quite a bit to see how & what I'm going to do & I finally had to make a decision yesterday. I'm going to put off having the valve replaced for right now. Not at all pleased with being required to take a blood thinner that is messing with my brain AND my kidneys. Fixing the heart doesn't do a lot of good if the rest of the body falls apart to do it. I told the nurse (that you talk to because the doctor is too busy) that I would rather have one good year than a dozen being "that poor old lady sitting in the corner waiting to be fed". When you see a MAC truck coming right at you, doesn't take a rocket scientist to get out of the way, right?

When Mother was in the hospital because the doctor punctured her lung when putting in a pacemaker, she begged to not be given drugs. She had a number of issues with meds over the years. One of us stayed with her around the clock, when I arrived about 2:00 am I found a nurse coming out of her room with a shot needle. I asked what she was doing. She gave me a dirty look and put her chin in the air & said, "Doctor said I could give her something for pain". Words popped out of my mouth, "Did SHE ask for it?"  The nurse walked off. Her kidneys shut down that day but she lived 11 days with no kidney function, lucid to the end. Her veins were too fragile for dialysis. The nurse may as well have used a gun.

In a 1948 speech to the House of Commons, Churchill slightly changed the quote when he said (paraphrased), "Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it." and George Santayana-1905 said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Not sure which version stuck in my mind, but I do remember the quote every day. Still had to Google to remember exact words & author.

I know I am hard headed but there really is "history" to remember in my case. Besides both parents ending up in the hospital because of reactions to meds, my 3 kids have each had their episodes of life threatening issues with being allergic. So that's what I've been doing... a lot of thinking.

Love getting to enjoy your visits with the kids, Jane, just oozes love & feel good days.

Anyway, need to get back to bed so I can get up early to unlock gates for mower.   ;)

I'm so happy to "see" SHIRLEY this morning.  I went to bed with a prayer for you on my mind.  When you don't check in, we all worry....especially when we know you are dealing with a problem.  My day is off to a good start.

My Maryland daughter texted yesterday to ask if it would be all right if she brings her two doggies along.  I said it would be fine especially since it gets me out of vacuuming.  I'll wait until she leaves and then vacuum.  With two more dogs in the house, that makes sense, doesn't it?

I think Cindy (my computer expert) is going to spend some time with my computer this morning.  It sure does need some attention.

I wish you all a lovely day.  Grab it and make it yours in every way.  SHIRLEY, it sounds like you've already grabbed it and made it yours.

Good Morning LLOYD!  Be careful!

Good morning everyone..

Raining here and that is not helping the town! Plus to the west of us  some towns are in a state of emergency  and evacuating in some area.

Yesterday was a long tiring day but all went well for the MRI, now to wait for the results , which we should have by May 9th.

Meeting friends in town this morning to exchange items we bought for each out then home. When I gave my friend quilt tops yesterday she gave me more fabric plus a quilt to put the binding on so I may do that later.

Shirley, if it is a MAC it will stop, that is what my son drives. Hope you feel better. Hubby take Eliquis and hasn't any problems with that. He didn't wat to take coumadin so the Dr put him on the Eliquis .I think Gloria de takes it also but not sure.

Good morning Jane , have fun with your family...enjoy each moment.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I take Eliquis, too, and other than the high price, even with prescription insurance, I have had no trouble with it.  Perhaps bruising showed a bit more but nothing serious even with that.

Expecting rain again today with some wind, maybe.  Hope it won't be as severe as we had last week.

I hope it will be a good day for everyone.  Including me.  ;D

I also take Eliquis and so far have felt no ill effects from it.  The only thing that bothers me is I cannot take aspirin for the infrequent headache I might have.  Tylenol just doesn't do it and I take the 650 pain type.

I think we will have a dreary day but I'm not sure about rain.  Just no sun.

Post by: Shirley on April 26, 2019, 10:04:33 AM
Thanks, girls, but I had heard & confirmed that Eliquis is not for people with the artificial (pig) valve. There is no reversal to any side effects, which is the problem with so many meds for me.... I am allergic to what is usually given for an allergic reaction (Benadryl & Prednisone). Got a problem that's hard to solve & know I have to decide what's best, not put the burden on a doctor. Sometimes scary... but live life to the hilt as long as I can.   I do appreciate prayers, know that is the best meds!

Mowers are here & almost done, need to go put locks back on the gates. Two of them working together this year so they can finish in about 20 minutes (includes load & unload equipment)... $40... think one said they did more than 20 yards yesterday so it counts up. Their equipment isn't cheap & needs repairs as hard as they use, but mowing is not their primary job. I did some trimming with my weed whip last night, found using it to keep the ivy from climbing the brick is easier than pulling the vine down when it gets to the roof!

We have a cool start to the day & talking about rain most of next week, but I may take a run to MO for a day visit with my 93 year old brother & 88 year old sister (she & her husband live about 50 miles on the other side of KC). There is a nice woodsy campground "inside" KC (KC grew around it) with electric & other hook ups so makes it nice for me to drive after the sun is out of my eyes going east & spend the night at the campground, visit next day & back to the campground to drive home the following morning before the sun is too blinding. We can meet during the week when campground isn't crowded. My brother has a wonderful back yard to sit out in, his wife has surprised us at times with fixing lunch but my sister & I do take turns either bringing food or I take them all to a near by Panera Bread. Haven't checked to see how their week looks so no plans.

Good morning everyone, raining again and of course it hits me with the dampness.
I have called a few times about my new glasses, been 3 weeks, always busy so left a call back request. Finally got through and the glasses are ready. They better be good or they will get the brunt of my temper for not calling me to tell me they were ready. Will have to call my son that lives close to see if he can take me to get them tomorrow morning. CNA comes at noon and after that I will be too tired for anything.

Hope the sun is shining for all of you.
Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  We are supposed to have a cloudy and light rain morning and then this afternoon it is to clear out and we will have some wind.  We will get only into the high 70's today.  Yesterday was another lost day for me in that I was up only 2 hours in the morning and then 3 hours around supper time.  I wasn't sleeping during this time but too weary to stay up and spent the hours with my eyes closed and listening to my audio book.  I am hoping today will be better but still pretty weary.  I plan on spending 2 hours here in my office as have some things that I would like to get done or at least start on.  I don't have anything I need to leave the house for until next Tuesday when I have another doctor's appointment.  Scott was here again yesterday afternoon late and spent a few hours with us.  He helped his mother in the kitchen in fixing the mac and cheese with ham in the Instant Pot and it was delicious.

While I don't feel up to trying to make comments to everyone I will try to offer a few comments today.  I read all the comments since I posted yesterday before I got up this morning using my iPhone.

Jane, having your three daughters there at the same time sounds wonderful and glad you took a day off to enjoy the long weekend with them.  I know these are special times.

Shirley, I understand your thinking and hope you will have many more years.  I did the same thing when my doctor encouraged me about 8 years ago to try again for a heart transplant.  At that time I made the decision not to pursue that route again and have never regretted it.  I think I have mentioned before going through the heart transplant protocol but when all the paperwork got to Birmingham, Alabama where the procedure would be done if my name ever came up on the list where a heart was available they immediately turned it down as I had developed the prostate cancer and would have to be clear of it for 5 years before considering it again due to have to kill the immune system.  Since the prostate cancer did return it was obvious that not all of the cells had been destroyed in the treatment I had.  I have never regretted the decision and enjoyed another 8 years where I could be relatively active before this year when the bottom has dropped out.  I do encourage you to find help with your housekeeping as I know Jane and now Jenny has done and with all of your yard work although I know you have help mowing and spend your time enjoying the things you enjoy doing.  I know this isn't any of my business but it has been my experience and I care about you as I do all of my cyber friends.

Amy, I have never taken Eliquis as tolerate the Plavix well along with the baby aspirin everyday to keep my blood thin.  Glad the MRI went well for your hubby.

Good Morning Everyone,  from the
overcast, and sometimes rainy,
rocky coast of Maine!

I have had strokes because of my Afib,
and depend on blood thinners
(Coumadin) to live and
prevent more strokes.

Shirley ...  We all have to make decisions
about how we are to be treated as we age.

And the blessing is,  some of us are still
able to make those decisions for our selves...

I wish you well and give you credit for
doing what you believe is correct for you.

It has been a busy day around here. I finally called the cardio's nurse that has known me for nearly 30 years & explained my problem of being rushed into valve work without me having any say & what an issue I have had with Plavix. She said I should give the "other" blood thinner, Brilinta, a try, they had samples if I could come pick up. She also asked me to tell the lady at the desk to let her know when I got there. I was greeted & put in one of the "stations" like a normal visit, nurse came & we had a long talk & then my old doctor friend came and "handled things". He listened to my problems & fears and we made a plan. I would try the Brilinta & let him know Monday if side effects, would see me in 4 weeks for follow up of the stents & cath... and we would put off talk of the valve job until mid summer (after my trip to the mountains). He still thinks it will be necessary to replace the original pig valve to live a full life. He assures me that he will get me off the blood thinner in months, not years. There is no question that if my body rejects any of the meds I will stop taking. It is frightening to have so many side effects from one little pill and I thought the only one was the bleeding!

Larry, I appreciate your input, you have been dealing with heart issues for a long time & in my opinion, have done a great job of keeping yourself in the best possible shape.

Sandy, you are the "free spirit" that has amazed me how well you adjusted to a completely different life from what you had a few short years ago. I am dead serious, your acceptance of leaving the road to find happiness and satisfaction, accepting even giving up your drawing.... I am speechless and realize I am not letting loose of my freedom nearly as gracefully. For sure, it takes lots of strength to do what you have done. Sincere compliment.....

Every Friend in here has been an inspiration.  Mary Ann, you never complain, you take life that "happens" and find the good. If there was ever a real Pollyanna, she must have been your ancestor.

Each one of you offer the rest of us something to admire and sort of lean on. I can't imagine not having this group of friends in my life.

So here we are, the Class of 2019.... Three Cheers!!! The Over the Hill Gang Rides On!

Good night, Lloyd, you slipped in while I was typing.

Good evening.

Getting ready to watch our Colorado Avalanche (hopefully) beat the San José Sharks!

I just got a feed saying they have just opened I 70 in both directions after the horrible crash there last night.

GLORIA, I do hope you will be able to get your new glasses tomorrow morning.

It sure is good to see your post, SHIRLEY.  I am sorry you continue to have the negative effects from the medicine the doctor wants you to take.  I can certainly understand your being cautious of drugs after the experience your family has dealt with over the years.  Good to read that you got someone in to mow for you.  I worry about you as you just will not rest!

JANE, enjoy your time with your girls!

Just found out our oldest grandson has strep throat....that poor family can not get a break.

I wish you all a good night of rest.  I do not think I am going to be able to watch the whole hockey game tonight....my eyes are wanting to close now💤💤💤

Good morning everyone, wow did it pour during the night, We have had 19 days with rain this month, 11th wettest April since keeping records started. We have rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow. Yuck. My son will take me to get my new glasses this morning. They did not even let me know they were in. They told me 10 days but it has been almost 3 weeks. I finally called yesterday and they said they had been ready over a week. Grrrr.

LARRY  my parents and 2 brothers had bad hearts and one brother had the pacemaker for years, he had 25%of his heart working for quite a few years.

SHIRLEY  glad you called your nurse friend. Sounds like this doctor you saw was thinking more about how you feel than the other one. I feel at times doctors do not listen or care what is bothering us.

JENNY  I saw about that crash on TV and to think the 18 wheel driver who caused that crash is alive when so many killed and were hurt. Hope they throw the book at him. My oldest son was on the verge oh rheumatic fever from a strep throat. The doctor we had, a good ole GP, was at the house every morning at 7 to check him out for well over a week, even Sunday. He was in 4th grade and the teacher sent home work for him because he was getting bored and he liked school I was told to keep him in bed and not let him get on his feet at all. I would carry him to the living room in the morning to watch TV and carry him to the bathroom. No after effects and his heart is good.

LLOYD  did you know that Act has a new mouthwash for dry mouth? I got some last week and it has helped my dry mouth. I don't snore and my tongue would be stuck to the roof of my mouth when I woke up. No fun there.

Better get to the shower, my son is picking me up at 9 and it takes me a long time getting dressed these days.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone..

Woke up to s  n  o  w but it isn't much and it won't stay. No dances today with it.

Laundry day and I want to go to the hardware store, they have collapsible containers that are just great for the back of the vehicle. When I get groceries etc they can sit in the basket and just bring the whole container in the house.

Gloria, happy to read your new glasses are ready..

Slept in and behind again..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Saturday morning.  It is a pretty sunny morning, but still a little chilly. I could have pushed the thermostat up a little bit, but didn't.  I have not switched over to the A/C yet.   I am sitting here in my winter robe and shivering a little bit.

I have been missing for a couple days.  Just nothing interesting happening.

Gloria, I will have to look into that mouthwash you mentioned.   I wake up in the morning feeling like I have a mouthful of cotton.  I am a mouth-breather and it is really a terrible feeling.

Shirley, I hope you can get your meds straightened out.  I remember you talking about how so many meds are not good for you.  I take Eliquis, but have not had any problems with it.  And, I got a good price from Humana,  but I did get a message that I will soon be in that donut hole.  Not sure what they means yet.  Just will have to deal with whatever it costs.

Jenny, I continue to remember your DIL in my prayers.

Amy, glad that your snow  didn't amount to much.

Larry,  hope you will have a better day today.  I can imagine how frustrated you are with feeling so tired all the time.  Hope that you doctor's appointment next week will give you some new answers.  It is always just good to see you make an appearance.

I need to get myself moving.  I am expecting a grocery order around noon.  So, still have to get dressed and straighten up a bit.

Hope everyone will have a great day.

It is a beautiful day here with no rain expected. I will really enjoy it.

I have no plans other than just general "puttering" around the house and to make sure I have all the ingredients to put together Chicken Caprese for dinner tomorrow.

I have Humana, too, Joy, and it is a big help.  However, my next re-fill order will put me into the donut hole, too, so I will have to pay more for a 90 day supply.  Eliquis costs put me in the "hole" every year.  I'm not happy about that but the doctor insists that I need to keep taking it.

Watched a little hockey last night....the Carolina Hurricanes are doing well....a little golf from New Orleans...a beautiful golf course there except for the alligators !!.... and the last episode of "Bosch" before going to bed and having a good night's sleep.  All is well, thank goodness.

Hope all of you will have a good day.

Phyllis,  I have been with Humana now for a good while, and there are two medicines that I don't  have to pay anything.   I just started Eliquis back in Sept.  so this will be the first time, that I have hit the donut-hole.  The doctor had told me that they get samples a lot of times,  but the nurse said it is not very often.  She did give me a place where she  said might be able to give it to me a little cheaper, but because I have Medicare D,   I didn't qualify for any kind of a discount.   So, I guess I will just have to pay the additional amount. I still feel like Humana is the right plan for me.   Several other meds I take  are not expensive at all.

The company I retired from handles my medical insurance so besides Medicare, I have Aetna as my secondary insurance.  I get a 3-month supply of any of my prescribed meds  and one of them is Eliquis.  I am not unhappy with the costs and the part I pay is billed to my credit card.  My prescriptions come from Express Script.  I've been taking Eliquis for five years now and I've never heard anything about the donut hole; I wonder if I'm too old to be affected.  I have heard of the donut hole problem, just not for me.

I looked at radar on the computer and saw snow all around us but none in Michigan's lower peninsula.  I hope it stays away all day as we're going to celebrate my birthday today (my birthday was Tuesday).  Plans have been changed for that because the country club did not call Tom back so we are going to another restaurant that I know Tom, Dot and I all like.  Tom will let some of the guests know about the change.

I too read about the horrible accident in Colorado.  It reminded me of a similar accident north of Grand Rapids a few years ago when everyone was stopped for some reason and a semi came along, did not slow down and rammed into several cars, killing several people.

Jenny, I'm sorry to hear of your grandson's strep throat.  It's good that you have a doctor in the family, but I think your family has enough to dwell with and you don't need more!

Hi Everyone.  We are going to have a gorgeous day here in South Carolina with clear skies and a high into the low 80's.  It was so nice yesterday that I spend an hour or more sitting on our front porch yesterday afternoon as it was in the mid to high 70's with a nice wind.  I did have a good day yesterday and hope for the same today although my shower and getting dressed left me very weary and by the time I got to the kitchen I couldn't keep my head up again until I sat down and rested.  Pat mentioned getting a hair cut today and if I am up to it I may go with her as I sure need a haircut.

Sandy, I agree it is a blessing when we are still able to make our own decision as only we know what is best for us.

Shirley, glad you contacted your old cardio doctor and hope the Brilinta works for you and he has helped you work out a plan.  At least you have a second opinion on the valve replacement.  Thanks for you kind comment about dealing with my heart issues.  I liked your "Over the Hill Gang Rides On!

Gloria, they are saying on the weather that South Carolina is now considered in a drought situation.  That surprises me since we had so much rain during the Spring. It is time you all got some good weather. My ejection factor is now between 20 and 25% whereas normal is in the 50% range.  It sounds like you had a very caring doctor when your four grader old had strep throat and that you took exceptional care of him.  I will have to tell Pat about the new Act mouthwash as she has terrible dry mouth and keeps a bottle of water by her bed every night.

Amy, for many years we kept cardboard boxes in our car truck to put groceries in as the truck was very deep.  We now use the grocery totes and the nice employees that bring our grocery order out to the car will put the items in the bags for us.

Phyllis, nice to see you are also having beautiful weather.  I am not sure what Chicken Caprese  and don't think I have ever eaten it.  Fortunately we don't have a donut hole in our health insurance. In the past we watched a lot of the Bosch episodes and I have read or listened to several of the books as well.

Lloyd, I have a big handful of pills to take each morning and four at dinner time.  Finally my current cardiologist suspended me taking a couple others or greatly reduced the dosage. Keep taking your pills as we want you around for a long time.

Nothing accomplished today and that includes several hours of my work on my old black Singer Featherweight sewing machine.  I cannot get the light bulb to stay in place and finally fixed the bobbin thread.  Amy knows what I am fretting about...

Jenny:  I think of you and Bob and your family - the concerns with your DIL - so young for this health problem.  Hugs to you and Bob.

The killer truck driver was arrested right away as he deliberately turned into all the traffic.  He was driving 90 miles per hour and this was on the grass area off the highway - speeding going downhill on one of the most dangerous road areas in the country.

Belated Happy Birthday to all celebrating this month.

Sincere compliment.

Shirley  ..

Thanks so much. I reached a point
that my only choice, if I wished to keep
on living "stroke free", was to follow
my Cardio's instructions..
Fortunately the meds she has me on
are acceptable to my body.

I do question her each time and
she is very good at keeping me
informed and up to date on
my AFIB condition. (Which is doing well
right now on Coumadin. )

Lucky for  Coumadin is very very
affordable.

My limited vision is what has taken
its toll on my socializing etc these days.

I prefer not to go out much (one day a
week with my daughter Kelly)..

Since there is nothing I can do to improve
my vision,  I am resigned to making the
best of my world while I still can.  And
I am grateful for what little central vision
that I have left.

If I struggled  with the "cards I have been
dealt" , then I would become very depressed
and give up.  ( Which I am not ready to
do right now! )

Thank you for your nice response to me.

I hope that  you and your body can
work things out so that you do not
have to continue this struggle that
you have to contend with.

Sandy

SPECIAL HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES
🎂🎂 JANE  🎂🎂
Best wishes for many more happy years to come💐💐

WHAT A DAY.......it was delightful getting to see three of my four sons today.  We picked oldest Son Kurt up, from youngest Son Brian's Home.  He was here checking on his Vail property that has recently been remodeled.  He had a few things he wanted to do, so we drove around then had lunch before taking him to the airport to fly home to Boston.  Then we had dinner with Dr, Dave and the two boys, as Michele and Kate were at a dance thing for Kate.  After dinner Dave invited us to go watch the playoff game with the Denver Nuggets and the San Antonio Spurs, but to be honest, we had about all the fun we could take and we just wanted to get home, put on jammies and sit in our "rechargers", aka recliners!

MARYANN, your Birthday Party sounded delightful.  I am so happy you enjoyed every minute of it.

I was not able to post here in the Soda Shop this morning.  Did anyone else have a problem?

JOY, I always appreciate the extra times I am told that you continue praying for Michele, even though I know many of you pray for her daily🙏🙏  Thank you.

Michele had a MRI on Friday of her brain/head to see if the gamma knife treatment indeed got all of the tumors in her head.  She is of course sitting on pins and needles waiting for the report...  The doctors want her to have a PET scan a few days after her 4th chemo treatment, high will be this coming Monday, to see how the tumor is doing on her lung.  IF it is responding well then they want to stop chemo for a month and start radiation.  Oh my, the thought and reality of all of this is so overwhelming.

I hope you all enjoyed a nice day....pleasant dreams,

Jenny

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes.  It was a very full day with my family.  It even included a very long facetime call from EMMA in OK.  I got to talk directly to her and then Ali (my granddaughter) followed her around the house on her busy activitie.  She is walking, running, climbing, opening doors, demanding, loving, getting into everything.  It was so nice to be able to SEE her doing her daily things.

We had a fire in the fire pit at my daughters and we reminisced, told stories, remembered family that was gone or wasn't there.  We told some jokes, said some poems, sang some songs, danced some dances and laughed a LOT.  It was a great finish to a great birthday!

Now I'm waiting for daughter Christy and granddaughter Frankie to get up.  Both their doggies have already joined me and my doggies.  They've all been out and we're waiting for the "boinger" so we can have breakfast.

I wish you all a birthday that you can enjoy as much as I've enjoyed mine.  I was very tired on the way home and I said to my daughter, "I hope to continue HAVING birthdays, but I don't think I'll celebrate them any more."  She said, "I don't think you have a choice".  So next year is another year!

After I got home, I had a long chat with my sister and that ended my birthday on another happy note.

Now I'm off to make doggie food before the boinger goes off.  Enjoy yur day!

Jane, it sounded like a wonderful birthday for you.  You do have a great and loving family but I'm sure they feel that they have a great and loving mother/grandmother/great grandmother.

Joy, Your experience with Humana Prescription plan is the same as mine.

MaryAnn, I think the "donut hole" that Joy and I mentioned is for Humana Prescription Drug Plan members.  I'm really pretty dumb about understanding all of the different health plans so I'll not say anything more about it for fear I will mislead someone.   :(

It rained sometime during the night but the sun is shining now so I'm hoping it will be as beautiful as it was yesterday.  It was a perfect day.....weatherwise.

Larry, I hope you were able to get your haircut.  It always seems to lift the spirits for a short while.  I'm overdue, too, since I had to cancel my last appointment.  Must call her and make a new one.  BTW, Chicken Caprese is a simple dish made with chicken breasts, tomatoes, Italian seasonings, and either Mozzarella or, in my case, provolone cheese, and baked for 30 minutes or so.  Quick and easy which is why I use the recipe.  I no longer make long, involved recipes with lots of ingredients.  Too much work for this old lady!

Sandy, I love the rocky coast of Maine.  We vacationed there a couple times 'way back when.  It is so beautiful.  I like your attitude about life and your acceptance of it.

Amy, good morning.  Good news that you have had no more dancing to do with the snow blower.  And I hope you and Kyle have a good day.

Good morning.  I just wrote a long message and lost it.

So, I will just say a Belated Happy Birthday to Jane.  I don't know how I missed it yesterday.  But, so happy to hear that you had a wonderful day with your family.  And, how special that you got to "visit" with Emma.  I  am sure that made the day extra special.

I hope that Mary Ann had a good time at her party, also.

I don't have time right now to repeat my lost message, so I will just wish everyone a Special Happy Sunday.

I will try to get back later. I am going to my son's for an early birthday get together.  They are planning on getting some steamed crabs.  This will be the second time this month to enjoy steamed crabs.  Hope it will be warm enough to sit outside.   They make such a mess, so being outside will help keep the mess all in one area.

Hope everyone will have a great Sunday, no matter what you have planned.

I'd love to spend the morning watching boats but family is coming "noonish" to plant all the flowers dils and I bought last week.

I'm not cooking this time.  They may have eaten by the time they get here and, if anyone gets hungry, we'll do take-out.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Another "Happy Birthday", Jane (if I didn't say it yesterday ::)   ).... My heart nearly bursts with joy reading about your loving family. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I am rushing to get on the road to church so may have to wait until later to post.... had a horrible time after taking that blood thinner yesterday at noon. Difficult to breathe & a whole list of strange aches & pains plus.... son & wife were here & concerned but by the time for them to go home, I convinced them I was okay for the night. I will not be taking another of those pills and told my kids "no more putting this body through such trials.  Woke up at 4:00 am with knees & joints in hands feeling like someone smashed with a hammer, did not even get out of bed.  Then the bloody nose when I got up at 5:00 after having a doozie of a nightmare in that extra hour of sleep. Hopefully the stents won't clog up real fast, a couple good years is better than the fog and strange reactions like yesterday".

Back from church & breakfast at McDonald's.  Cooler this morning & wind blowing. We hope to paint the fence gates today so wind will dry fast.  Supposed to start raining tonight.  Thoughts and prayers for everyone dealing with "life out of control".... things we can't change and must accept.

Shirley, I can't imagine what you go through with the after effects of meds.  It's almost like you're darned if you do and darned if you don't.  The meds are supposed to help you but obviously they don't.

My birthday was not so exciting or busy as Janes, but it was nice to see everyone.  As I mentioned before, three of the four of Norm's greats were there - two-year old twins and a three year old.  They got along very well.  The restaurant put us at a long table away from any other diners and did not put other people in the room until they had to.  Tom set the time at 5 pm so we were early, especially for the couple from the Lansing MI area.  We ordered off the menu and everything went like clockwork.  Small as our family is, one family came from Lansing, one family from Holland and one couple came from Indianapolis (no children).  The rest of us were from around home.

Jane, your birthday sounded like so much fun.

Callie, I'll bet your place looks beautiful with all the flowers you planted, whether in the ground or in pots.  Our weather hasn't settled down enough yet to have things outside.

Tom has left to have supper at an Outback with Annie and her SO and I'm going to see what I can drum up.  I don't need much after last night and this noon.  Come to think of it, I brought home some of my fish sandwich so I'll have that.

Kiran texted me this afternoon to ask if I was home so she and my son (who was out of town yesterday on business) could come over and wish me "Happy Birthday".  I was but Christy had gone to visit her friend and Cindy was visiting a friend in the hospital.  About a half hour after they got here,  Cindy and granddaughter Courtney came and right after that, Christy came.  Not long after, Cathy came by.  They all stayed about another  hour and a half....maybe more....and it was such a pleasure to see all 4 of my kids talking and laughing in my living room!  That just doesn't happen much any more.

I had fixed home made spaghetti for our lunch and made lots so there would be leftovers.  There weren't any leftovers.  In fact, I needed to cook more pasts.  I must say I'm tired but it's a very GOOD tired and I'd be happy if it happened more often.  I learned things I wasn't aware of and good things are happening in their lives.

I hope you all have had a great day!  May God be with you and yours, now and forever!

Temp is 16° with hopes of warming up some. Today is to be nice but rain is coming the rest of the week.

Need to take vehicle in for an oil  change plus I want them to check out the air conditioning also.If we can get this done early today we may take off to the city Kyle wants his glasses changed from a bi focal to just one glass.

Joy, I have never had crab but if it is as good as lobster it would be tasty. What parts do you eat on the crab?

Mary Ann, Sounds as if you had a wonderful birthday too...Happy belated birthday if I didn't mention it before.

Gloria de, you have caring neighbours, nice that they surprise you with treats. Hope you feel better today.

Phyliss, I even snuck in a nap yesterday..I like quick and easy recipes. On Sat, I made spaghetti with meat sauce.....too lazy to make meat balls. I did it in the Instant Pot..........took all of 9 min to cook!!

Gloria, hope you are ok??

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone. Frost on all the cars and roo this morning but NO RAIN today. Got my new glasses but things are blurry so will have to call and see what I can do about them. All I needed changed in the bifocals was the reading part and he changed the distance and every thing is blurry.

JOY  when I went to the dentist last week the girl gave me a sample of the Act for dry mouth. I have been using it already and fine I no longer wake with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. So it is working for me.

AMY  keep that snow north of the border, PLEASE!

LLOYD  as a vet I am sure we do not mind you getting your meds free, all vets deserve it.

LARRY  I had tried about every thing for dry mouth and then I heard about the Act on TV and asked my CNA to get a bottle for me. It has to be used twice a day to work and it has helped me. Have had it a little over a week and have not had the dry mouth.

JENNY  every time I have to go anyplace it takes about 3 days for me to rest up from it. Best to stay home for me. I have Michelle in my prayers, too. Too young with small children.

JANE  looks like you had the best birthday ever. So good to have so many family members there with you.

PHYLLIS  have you ever tried the Bisquick recipe for oven fried chicken? It is easy and comes out nice and crispy like it was fried and not baked.

SHIRLEY  I have been lucky so far to have no reaction from any meds.

AMY  you had to bring up lobster. It has been a long time since I had one. I no longer have a pan big enough to boil one in.

Good morning!  It is cloudy this morning but warmer. Normally, this would be laundry day but since I am still without a washing machine I'll find something else to do.  Have been hand washing small things and I have had about enough of that!  If David decides to take his laundry to the laundromat I may sneak some jeans and knit shirts in with his laundry.  That new washer better get here on time (Saturday) and it better work right!  :knuppel2:

Shirley, I'm sorry that your body is so sensitive to medicine.  Sometimes we just have to do what we feel is the best thing in spite of what the doctor tells us.  You tried it his way now it is time to try it yours.  I have my fingers crossed that it will go well for you.

Gloria de, I hope today will be better for you, too, and you won't have to call for help again.  Thank goodness, you have good neighbors who look after you.  I wouldn't mind finding a quiche on MY doorstep.   ;)

Gloria, I hadn't remembered about the Bisquick Chicken.  Used to do it many years ago when I had the whole family to cook for.  I'll have to try it again when I have more chicken on hand.  I only use chicken breasts now but it would work on those just as well, I think.  Thanks for the reminder.

To all of you, I pray that today will be good and peaceful with no pain and no worries.

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful day but suppose to hit 90 degrees this afternoon.  I spent about 20 hours laying in bed yesterday and still had a good nights sleep.  I still don't feel very rested this morning but am determined to be up more today.  Pat said she wants to get a haircut today and if I feel up to it I will go along and get mine cut as well as I am beginning to look pretty shabby.  That is all that is on the schedule for today other than resting. I will try to offer a few comments today and am reading what everyone as shared since I read yesterday.  Thank you all for missing me and that is why I try to at least check in each morning.

Shirley, I think the stents these days are medicated and not as likely to clog up as fast as the old type used to do.  Sorry you had such a bad reaction to just one little pill.

Jane, you had a good reason to be tired but sure that it was well worth it.

Lindancer, you are always in my prayers as well.  Glad your breathing was better yesterday.

Amy, have you ever tried the meat balls from Costco.  They are not as good as homemade but sure a lot easier.  Pat just puts the frozen meal balls in the Instant Pot with the spaghetti and sauce and it does make a very quick meal.

Gloria, because of her fibromyalgia Pat stays away  from anything with mint in it as it blocks the effectiveness of the medicine she uses for it and has helped her for many years.

Bubble, glad you are finally having some warmer sunny days.

Sadly, I do not have a good news from Michele's MRI.  They saw six more very small spots on her brain. Dave was quite upset when he called, and he just needed someone to talk to.  He did not know anything about what this will mean regarding Michele's continued treatment, and he did not was to guess at what it might mean.  My heart just aches for him.  He had a break in patients around 11, so he drove down to the hospital she is having her chemo treatment at today to be with her when they told her the results.  He then had to get back to see patients.  It is a 30 minute drive each way, but he just wanted to be with her.  Thank you all again so much for your continued support and prayers.  I really have no one I could really call and tell this news.  I want Dave to be able to tell his brothers, unless he asked me to do it. It is times like this that I really miss my mama.  Right now my dad has enough to deal with and he has been rather confused the last couple of days, so I did not really want to call him with upsetting news.

JANE and MARYANN, I do not think there could be a finer way to celebrate a birthday than to be with our family members....and out doors with everyone playing games and chatting would be my intimate wish!  I am very happy for both of you to have enjoyed your days so much❣️

I must run, as we have to pick Kate up from school in 30 minutes.

Hope your day is going well, EVERYFRIEND❣️

Jenn, I am so very sorry about Michele's MRI. I understand how difficult it is to "give up" what modern science has to offer, but I also know the value of having the remaining time being more pain free and in control. So very hard to have young children and make those choices, I've known younger & older that took both paths and there is no help deciding for anyone else, each has to make that choice. My heart cries for all of the family. I am SO sorry. Prayers for a miracle and more prayers that everyone can be strong for each other.

JENNY, I, too offer prayers daily for Michele and for the rest of the family who suffer with her.  She is in my thoughts daily and whenever I think of her or of you, I say a quick prayer.

I was so tired when I got home from work today that I didn't want to do anything.  I did pick up some items on the way home and then took care of the doggies, inside and outside.  I did a few things that needed done around the house and then I LOAFED, BIG TIME.  I'm beginning to feel a bit better and after a good night's sleep I should be back to normal.

My best wishes to all for good health, good rest and may God be with you.

Almost forgot, JENNY, my daughter and her family will be in Denver at the end of May for her nephew (on the other side of the family) wedding.  They plan to stay for the week after the wedding to do some sightseeing and take in some sports.  Do you have any "DON'T MISS" places to suggest for them to see.  If you think of something (maybe a great restaurant or a historic or particularly special place) you could just send me an email and I could pass it on to them!

Jenny, I am so sorry that the news about Michelle is not what all of your family, and all of us here in SS, had hoped to hear.  This must be so hard for everyone.  I can only say that prayers are going up all the time for all of you.

Sunny and warmer today (87 deg. forecast) but, we've had a mostly cool spring and so now it appears that summer is coming after all.  It is what it is and my AC is serviced and ready, I hope, because I will be hugging it when the heat and humidity arrive.

I will be thinking about all of you that are dealing with such heavy challenges and hoping that today will be better than yesterday and tomorrow even better than today.

Good morning everyone..

The first post I read was from Jenny, I am so sorry that they found more  spots Jenn. Prayers for all.....and I hope that there is a good out come on all this. Stay positive.

The garage was down a man yesterday so the work will hopefully be done on Wed. Today is VON and I think this will be the last visit..it has been almost 3 years since they started coming here.

Larry, thank you I will look for the meatballs when we go to Costco next time. I am so amazed at how fast and how delicious everything it in the instant pot. There will be no heating up the kitchen this year!!

Gloria, I love lobster and crab legs too!! I picked up spme mushrooms yesterday so mushroom soup will have to do today.A far cry from lobster.oh another one I like is Scampi tails.... to me they just look like, crayfish but are so good.

Shirley, hope you are feeling much better today..

Better go get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, guess what, it is raining, now isn't that different? Yesterday was such a nice sunny and warm day but I am getting so when I see a day with a beautiful blue sky I get to thinking the calm before a storm again. Not really a storm but rain. Cold and damp 41°.

PHYLLIS  if you use just the chicken breasts with no skin the Bisquick chicken will not work right. My daughter found that out. For me I like the legs or thighs.

BUBBLE  thanks for the links to Photos, beautiful, sunny and all the flowers. Forsythia is blooming here and maybe daffodils are up but none of those are planted here. The landscapers have been here once already and cleaned up the winter mess and it looks better but no flowers in bloom. Their leaves are shooting up.

LARRY  we do miss you when you do not show up and we worry about you.

LLOYD  hope you get that dish on the RV straightened up.

JENNY  when I started reading your post from yesterday it brought instant tears to me. She has so much to live for with Dave and their family. Prayers for her and the family, especially the children.

AMY  never heard of Scampi tails but know shrimp scampi. There used to be a lot of crayfish in the streams here but these days there are none.

MARY ANN good morning.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. I see that no one posted since I did yesterday but I want to check in this morning.  We are suppose to have a clear day today getting up to 90 degrees this afternoon.  I have an 11:30 routine annual appointment with lung doctor.  Scott will be here to take me.  Yesterday in trying to disconnect the old Dish box from the new I did something that caused us not to get television  from the Dish signal.  Scott will fix that when he gets here as those things are things he likes to do.  The boxes were on the floor and I tried to search out the problem but can no longer get down on the floor and gave up.  Pat and I had our audio books to listen to.  The only thing we missed seeing that we would like to have seen in Jeopardy to see if the very brilliant man won again yesterday.  I know when I get home I will crash and spend some time in bed as I didn't get a wink of sleep last night.  No particular reason but just one of those night I couldn't get to sleep regardless of what I tried.

Lloyd, can you contact the former owner of your motor home and ask him to cancel his control and then you can get your own subscription? Sure hope no tornadoes appear in your area.  Glad you haven't had any problem with your stents.

Jenny, what terrible news or Michele from her MRI. No wonder Dave was upset and at least he has you two as a sounding board.  I am glad you are there for him and his family.  Glad he could be with her when she got the news. I will certainly continue my daily prayers for you and your family, including your father. Obviously Dave needs his mama now.

Shirley, you are certainly right that each person must make their own decisions.  Miracles do happen so we all can continue to pray that one happens for Michelle.

Jane, after your big weekend you are probably having a bit of a letdown and need some extra rest. Hope you feel much better today.

Phyllis, we also are experiencing a very early summer with our 90 degree days.  We have been using our A/C for sometime now.

Amy, I know you won't be too sorry to see the end of VON's visits as it sounds like a milestone has been reached in your husbands health situation.  Mushroom soup is about the last soup I would ever want to eat as don't care for mushrooms although will each them in something else such as on a pizza.

Gloria, sorry you having to endure another day of rain and damp and 41 degrees isn't very warm.  I really don't want people to worry about me and that is why I try to get here everyday if to say no more than I am checking in.

Good morning. It is a sunny morning, and supposed to go almost up to 80º.

I did not make it in here yesterday.  I was not feeling all that great and still am so tired and just don't feel like doing anything.

I did want to tell you that my son and DIL had an early surprise Birthday party for me on Sunday.   I thought we were going there for steamed crabs, but as it turned out,  they had been planning this party for several weeks.  My birthday isn't until next week, but they will be away that week. I was very much surprised and had not suspected anything like that at all.  They had managed to have my 4 sister-is-law, plus another old family friend to be there. With a lot of arranging rides for all of them,  it all turned out great.  Several nieces had been able to get everyone there.   We had such a nice time, reminiscing about so many things we all had done over the years.  We hadn't all been together for quite a few years.  We didn't have steamed crabs, but did have a delicious dinner.  We all sat at the dining room table and were waited on by the younger generation.  Then, they all went out on their deck to eat together.  It was such a fun time and it was so nice for us all to be together.  Three of them are in their 90's and do have some health issues, but they all looked great and managed to get there with the help of the nieces.  We all have always been a very close-knit family, and used to do some many nice things together. I was an only child, so when I married into this big family, they just have accepted me as just another "sister" all these years.  All of the husbands are gone now, plus 2 other sister-in-laws.   I have been very blessed to have such a loving family all these years.  There are now additional grand-children, and great-grand children.  We make up a big group when we are all together.  We rent a hall at Christmas time,  and most of the family come, except for some that live out of state.   And, they all still look for Santa to show up.

Jenny, I am so sorry to hear the news about Michele.  I will continue to keep her and all of the family in my prayers.  Hopefully, it will be just a little bump in the road.  I pray for strength for all of you.  ANd, prayers do work, so don't give up.  There are new treatments and new meds coming out every day.  And, she seems to have great doctors.

I have been up for a while, but still need to get something to eat.

Larry, good to see your message today.  I did not sleep well last night either.

Try to have a great day.

Joy

FOR AMY,   (and anyone who might be interested)

Amy, a couple days ago, you asked about how you eat a steamed crab.  I kept forgetting to give you answer.

Here is a good video showing you just how you fix and eat a steamed crab.  I know it might seem like a lot of work and it does make a big mess, but , oh such a "delicious mess".  Lots of people get turned off, but if you are a true "Marylander"  you never tire of eating crabs.  The Maryland crabs are just starting to appear in the Chesapeake Bay and will continue being plentiful until late in the fall.   Lots of Marylanders feel that the fall crabs are so much sweeter than the earlier ones.  Most people that don't go and catch their own, usually have a favorite place to buy them fresh or already steamed, or a favorite "crab  House " to go eat them there.  We do have a favorite carry out place nearby, where we usually get them in the summer.  My oldest son has a big deck which makes it nice to eat out on.  They do make a mess, but so worth the trouble.

Here is a link just to show you what it is all about,

Good morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and attem since about 6 this morning but very busy.  I did sleep well and I feel much more rested than yesterday.

Our doggie groomer is here this morning and between baths for the doggies, I've been doing laundry.  I can't have water running both places because it takes from one to feed the other.  But I wanted to have a clean bed for all of us to climb into tonight.

When the groomer leaves, we'll have lunch and then I have to take the trash to the dumpster, stop by the bank to get some moola and ask a question, pick up some stuff at the store where I don't go often (they have it and WM doesn't).  Then the laundry should all be done and I can make up my bed and the one that put up guests this weekend and the same guests two weeks ago.

Continued prayer for all who need them!  My heart is with you and I pray for good things to happen.

A beautiful rainy morning in Kansas. I happened to love rainy weather all of my life and will find an excuse to go out in it, rain boots, coat with hoodie & all.  Looking out back the grass carpet matches the color of the weeds in the yard (not a lot of grass this year), blends well with the darker green of the pool cover and many shades of greens on the trees along the river. The leaves are about half filled out so that light "lime" green almost sparkles. The flowering trees are also leafed out with only a slight color of blooms left. The wet trunks & branches of the trees look black, making such pretty accents & lines. Not windy right now or raining at the moment. Radar shows we will have plenty chances for rain all day, and we do need it.

Woke up about 3:30 to find Tiger at the door, they wanted to stay out last night since they sleep all day. No sign of Tom until about 9:00 am, he hides when any lightning & thunder. Callie spent the night inside & is snoring behind my chair. Have a bed by the furnace vent that she decided it purrfect for her. All have had their breakfast so will fix me something more.

I discovered my nearly full half gallon of milk expired yesterday & a whiff while ago convinced me that it will have to go down the drain. Cats will sip a little now & then but not crazy about milk. Has not been a "normal" couple of weeks, but I do hate to waste food, at least sad not to be able to feed it to any outside critters. I was surprised that nothing drinks milk if I take it to the river in a bowl. That and the cherry tomatoes are the only thing that nothing will eat. The tub of cherry tomatoes I spread out along the sandy part of the bank I figured raccoons, opossum, birds, lots of critters would eat, but those little red tomatoes were untouched until they finally disappeared into dust. Wonder why birds & bugs find them when I tried to grow in a large pot in the berm.  >:(

What really sounds good is a skillet of fried potatoes & I do have a bag that will fill the bill. They really don't take too long to fry, been using a teflon skillet instead of the cast iron, much easier to clean. A long ago friend with heart problems explained that "you can still have fried potatoes with just Pam spray & they will brown. I find if I add about a small teaspoon of Crisco (solid) they brown a lot better. Since I can't have my gravy I'll have fresh hash browns to go with my scrambled eggs & call it brunch. I had a hard boiled egg & piece of toast at 3:30 am, cup of coffee & went back to sleep.

Job of the day is to take the elephant to top off with gas while I have a dollar off for 35 gallons. Took it out to the guys to have it "de-winterized" yesterday. My son is so busy right now I kind of sneaked away to get it done. They don't charge a lot & I always take a pan of brownies, doesn't take 2 of them long to check it out & the owner always comes out to visit. I don't know how I was so lucky to find them, but they did warranty work that first year & would talk with the people at the factory. The dealer I bought from was "selling" too many for their repairs guys to keep up.

One of these days I really do need to concentrate on getting this house in order. I was all set to use that site advertised on TV all the time "for any kind of help that you can trust".... only seems their system hasn't been flawless. Back to searching for references from someone I can trust!  Enjoy your day, Every Friend!

UnOh... you kinda slipped in Jane & Joy... My mind was whirling about missing your birthday, Joy.. until I got to the part that it is next week. Being from the mid-west, I never learned to enjoy seafood except for shrimp cocktail & I think the sauce is what I eat it for. But I do enjoy reading about the parties & families & check out how that seafood is eaten.  Jane, you put me to shame with all your house keeping jobs done so fast. This is a super lazy day for me, no excuses, just enjoying it. Larry, I also missed Jeopardy yesterday so no hint from me how he did. One smart cookie, isn't he?

I was just going to read this time in but I have something to say to SHIRLEY and anyone else who's interested.  Back in the old store our milk cases were at the front of the store across from the checkouts.  One not-too-busy day the vendor rep from the dairy was filling the cases and I asked him if he was taking all the expired stuff out.  He replied that he was because he had too.  Not because it was bad.  He added that if you buy milk, you shouldn't trust the expiration date.  If it's kept refrigerated, it's probably still good 10 days after the day.  He agreed with me that the "taste" test is the best but the "sniff" test is good too.  That was the item that I learned that day.  I learn something every day.

Today, I learned that critters don't like milk or tomatoes.  Thank you, SHIRLEY!

I guess we jumped the gun a bit. VON will still be coming for the month of May. I think they are waiting to see how the MRI went. Sent 2 loaves of still warm bread home with the VON....

Shirley, I use sour milk to make biscuits  or muffins. Have  even froze some if I have too much to use.

Jane,   thank you for the info about the expiration dates on milk.  I am not a milk drinker, and I only buy 1/2 gal. and I try to get the date as far in advance as I can.   However, if I buy a 1/2 gal. I usually wind up throwing half of it away and if I buy a quart, I  run out most times.  So, I do try to remember to make pudding when I see it is getting close  to expiration.  And, then usually will throw it out the next day or so.  I will have to remember to taste it  first and maybe it will still be ok for pudding.

And,  Amy,  I often wonder if I could use sour milk in biscuits.  I know recipes call for buttermilk, which taste sour to me.  So, basically, would that be the same thing as using the sour milk.  Nice to learn something new.

I do buy 1/2 gal. of chocolate milk and I do drink that up quickly.

Glad you found the crab video interesting.   They really are delicious !

Joy, I'm not a big milk drinker either but I like to hav milk on hand for certain things.  I've discovered that the Organic milk, while being a bit more expensive, actually lasts longer.  I haven't had to throw any out since I started buying the organic.  The one I have now is Stonyfield but a company called Horizon puts one out, too.  As I said, they cost a little more ($3.14 for a half gallon) but I have not thrown any away in years.

And now, good night my friends.  And may God bless us, every one!
