I hope this posts. I'm having mega problems with my computer. Also with my phone & John's computer!  I need a live-in guru!

I just got home from the grocery and am going to leave again in a half hour or so to go to Pineville to look for a rehearsal dinner dress and to pick up the dress for the wedding!

I did get flowers yesterday--it's in the 60's and 70's. I got my hibiscus in and John got the big pot that drowned all my pansies this winter.  It only had one hole and it was all gummed up with mud, so guess I'll pick up some rocks and my neighbor said he could drill holes in it. He's a real do it all kind of guy.  John planted the 2 big perenniel salvias I bought out in front--but not happily. He wants to give up all yard work too.  I hope everyone is okay and safe from the severe weather--we're to have some tomorrow.  Hi to all. Sharon

maryz

I've been AWOL - sorry.  Nothing going on around here.  I had lunch with some friends at a local Vietnamese place yesterday.  It was SO good a shrimp/bok choy/udon noodle stirfry. I love most Vietnamese food - it's always so fresh and freshly cooked.

Going to play duplicate this afternoon.  I guess everybody is either very busy or very non-busy this week.  I wonder where Sue is - hope all is okay.

Happy Easter weekend, Buddies!

Hi Mary. Good luck with the bridge.  John's luck hasn't been very good lately.

Jane, I hope Ray is doing okay with the Neulasta, etc. Thinking about him.

I, too, have been worried about Sue. Don't know if she's having problems with the computer or sick.

I've been super busy the past 2 days.  Yesterday, I did the grocery shopping in the AM and then about 1:00 I left to drive to Pineville to the Mall. I went into Belk's and found a nice dress for the rehearsal dinner.  The belt just didn't fit on my other dress that I was going to wear. I also picked up some make up and a pair of capris. All items were 20% off!!  A special coupon to go with a newly issued card.  Then I went to Stein Mart and found the white purse I've been looking for forever, also got John a couple golf shirts.  Then I went to pick up the gown for the wedding that had been altered (shortened). They did a good job on it.  The dress I got for the rehearsal dinner is white with navy dots starting large at the top and decreasing all the way down. It's a simple sleeveless sheath, but I have a navy jacket to wear with it.  So I'm set clothes-wise for the wedding.  Millie did not do well on her trip to Phoenix, so we are cancelling her trip to the wedding.   By the time I got home from shopping, I was exhausted and hurting.

Today, even so, I went out this AM and got all the flowers planted in the pots!  John carried all the heavy stuff for me. So glad to have that done.  He also planted 2 big blue/purple salvia plants in the front garden. They are perennial too. We just had some spots that needed something.

I've showered and washed my hair and need to style it and hope it stays that way for Easter.

No hummers here yet. Neighbor hasn't had any either. I've changed the food, but they seem to be avoiding us so far. Have you had any, Mary?

I've got to make our airline reservations now.
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL

Cottoncandy

Just popping in to wish everyone a safe Happy Easter...Sharon..I have hummers ...hope the bees stay away....tomorrow is the egg hunt for the little ones...so much fun watching them.....may they know the real reason for Easter celebration....Darlene

maryz

Sharon, glad you're all set for the wedding.  I haven't seen any hummingbirds here yet.

Hope your weather is good, Darlene.

Thinking about you and Ray, jane.

Cards are duplicate were yucky, and we didn't play much better.  No points, but at least we weren't last.

We have been away for a week in Las Vegas , just got home this afternoon .  Now to do all the laundry & finish unpacking .

JeanneP

 Alpiner1
What. You didn't come back from LV with a lot of money? Could have gotten a maid in to unpack and do the laundry. Ironing to.
Been a long time since I was in LV. Daughter from Texas goes few time a year. She usually looses. Keeps it to $500. My eldest only gambled one time. Won $2500 .cashed in and never gambled again.

I came home with 1/2 the money I took along .  We have a timeshare condo & we were to have a 90 minute update presentation & were to receive $120 if we went to it .  We went but they were all booked up , they had an opening for Sunday but DH said we couldn't be there at the designated time because we go to church . DH asked if we would still be given the $120 & they said yes !   Then we both got a free buffet because it was For Ever Young Day on Wednesday (50+) . DH's sister lives close to Las Vegas & we met her & her DH for lunch at a casino . DH & I got slot cards & were given $5 each in slot play & each got 2 for one buffets , so we treated them to lunch  . The last load of laundry is in the dryer , so now I can kick back .  Tomorrow is grocery shopping .

maryz

alpiner, sound like you had a good weekend overall.  I've been to Las Vegas a couple of times, but it's just not my cup of tea.  Glad all went well for you.

Jeanne, it's turned chilly again here for a couple of days.  In the low 40s this morning and cloudy/rainy, but after cold start, tomorrow is supposed to turn out lovely and in the 70s.  Back to spring the rest of the week.  Welcome to spring in Tennessee!

Alpiner....sounds as if you had a great time in LV.

Sharon...a dress for wedding and rehearsal and ready for the wedding and rehearsal and your flowers already planted sounds as if you are on top of things. It's much too cold here yet to even think about that.  I look forward to some annual colors and hope the gardens do better with those &^%$ walnut trees gone. The local nurses had the Neulasta schedule messed up.  It's just the day after the chemo. I think they have it straight now...except they don't get the day after the chemo.  They insist it's 3 weeks from the Friday he had the first one.  I'll ask Dr. Wood on chemo day and then get it straight.  Heaven help those who don't have an advocate to keep track of "stuff."  A bridge friend was unhappy to learn she can't wear the same dress to three grandchildren's weddings...because the pictures would show her in the same dress.  REALLY?  It matters what Grandma is wearing to three weddings?

Mary...quiet here, but helping Ray is keeping me on the run.  He's good...except for the extreme fatigue.  Nephew and wife and younger son coming today...and I have my "Honey Do list" ready for them all.   :smitten:

Sue...hope all is ok with you.

It's beautiful here and to be for the weekend.  I'm glad with company coming in a couple of hours.  I have all the laundry caught up, so going to sit down and have a cup of tea, once I finish here and do my QUICKEN.

Happy Easter!  I probably won't be back until Monday or so.

jane

SharonE

Alpiner, my daughter and boyfriend just got back from LV. They didn't gamble or lose much either. I've been to LV 3x if you count an overnight before a flight.  I sort of enjoyed the 2nd trip but was sick the first trip and when I got home from the 2nd, my mom was very sick and went into the hospital and died a week later. Consequently LV doesn't have good memories for me. Glad you had fun though.

Mary, it's in the 50's here today, back to the 60's tomorrow and the 70's the day after.  Crazy!

John leaves for Gatlinburg on Monday and will return Saturday, so maybe I can relax a little. I am really tired.

Jane, I was going to wear the same dress I wore to my granddaughter's wedding and the bride said fine. Unfortunately, I couldn't lose enough weight to wear it.  I think Grandma's should wear what they want, as long as it is appropriate.  I'm sorry the nurses are confused about the Neulasta shots. I hope they get it all straightened out soon.  It's great that the family is coming down to assist you. They always do such helpful things and I'm sure it is more needed than ever.  Good luck on the Quicken. I don't use it anymore since John has taken over the finances, however, I keep an eye on everything and check the bank balance and credit statements carefully. Have a blessed Easter.

Where is our Sue?  Should we call her?

Mary, did you say your family is coming up for Easter?  I know that's not really important to you, but with a holiday, it is still nice to have family.

Other than church and SS, I will be making a leg of lamb dinner. That is something we love but don't fix often.  Guess I'll have lots of leftovers next week. I heard from Lori yesterday and probably the other two tomorrow.

We received a graduation notice from our great niece today. She is on the autism spectrum, but very functional.  She has done much of it on the computer.  This graduation is from Community college in Tallahassee.  None of us thought she would ever be capable of that when she was young.  Her parents have seen that she has every opportunity and therapy and her aunts and uncles do too.

I need to go fix something to eat for lunch.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, glad you're getting a couple of "me" days.  Good luck to John this weekend.  Some folks from here will be there, too.  Probably no family will be coming here.  I don't know why, but Easter has never been a big "holiday" time with our family.  Also, my granddaughter-in-law's (Margaret's DIL) brother died suddenly a couple of days ago.  I haven't heard anything about what happened, but I know they are all in shock and grief.

As a grandmother who has been in a bunch of weddings, I can guarantee you that nobody cares about what the grandmothers wear. Obviously, I definitely agree with Sharon and jane.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Mary, sorry about Margret's loss.  I'm also sorry you will be alone even if it isn't an important holiday to you. For us, it is THE most important holiday.  So we are back from church and SS. I have the laundry in and the roast in the oven and made a pudding/pie for dessert. I also bought a head of cauliflower and that's ready to cook. I've also cleaned and filled a couple bird feeders. I hate having to change out the hummer feeders when they haven't even visited yet!

I'm hurting big time today. I've just done too much this past week and yes, I am looking forward to me time this week!  I do have bridge on Wed, but that's fun, not work.  I will have to take my cell phone to the repair place tomorrow. Tracfone couldn't help me. I was on the phone forever.  Their only suggestion was to call Samsung which I may have to do.  The computer guy is supposed to be available tomorrow too, so hope I get it straightened out.

John won't leave till 10:00, so I will get a late start and also have to pack his suitcase before then.

Church was packed today, as one would expect. The little kids all looked so cute in their Easter outfits. The music was beautiful and as always, it is very meaningful for the children when they let lose the butterflies on the cross covered with flowers in front of our church.  I've never heard of any other church doing that.

I hope all who celebrate Easter had a very blessed day.  Sharon

Marilyn

Has anyone heard from sue yet or called her?

jane

Sharon...will you call Sue if you have her number?  I'll try to email Tim.

Things were upset here, but getting better.  Yesterday was too much for Ray and he had a horrible night.  He's doing better now, but I was so worried at 4:00 am.  I think the food nephews prepared were too spicy for him and he didn't rest yesterday.  They making him bland things now...squash soup that he loves, etc.

They've done so much for us that their visit has been a great thing.

We'll get back to our quiet routine and I think he'll settle down and be good.

Jane

So sorry about Ray's difficulties, jane.  I know it's great having your nephews to help, though.  Also, thanks for e-mailing Tim.

I thought that on last posting that Sue made here she said that her computer was  giving her trouble and someone was going to take a look at it.

That is a thing about keeping contact on line only. Can never know when things go down . I have lost 3 people this past year that we had been e mailing for Up to 12 years . Not getting a Christmas card and no emails for a time. People take time letting one know they had past.

Good morning, Buddies.  Tim was here working on my computer so I think I'm OK for posting here now.  He's just left and I will go out to walk shortly before it gets too hot.

Yesterday our church service was lovely and our choir (and some of us who like to sing) ended the service with The Hallalujah Chorus (which my computer is telling me I misspelled).  I clicked on spell check, but am not getting a correction.

Not much else going on here today.  I will play bridge at Azalea Place tomorrow afternoon and also again at Ruth's on Wednesday afternoon.  It's a bright sunshiny day here and will get warmer as the day wears on.

Have a nice day after Easter, Every Buddy.

Glad Tim was able to work on your computer and to see you posting, Sue.

Good to see Sue here!

Sharon...hope you're getting some "Sherry time" while John is gone.

Mary, Jeanne, Darlene, Alpiner, Sandy....hi to you all.

Sunday night Ray's temp spiked again to 100.5 which for cancer patients on chemo is a "mandatory call the doctor."  I did, the oncall oncologist called me back within 10 minutes, asked a lot of questions and told me to take him to the ER at our local hospital.  So, 8:30 at night nephew and great nephew got him down the stairs, into the car and off we went.  It's just a mile from our house.  I'd called ahead, and they got him in and xrayed...pneumonia in his left lung, so on 2 antibiotics, oxygen etc.  He was admitted and now has also had a transfusion because the chemo has hit his bone marrow hard.  He looks so much better...temp is normal, etc.

I will be in and out as I can manage.  Nephew and his son went home and Patricia is staying with me for a few days.

Jane

SharonE

Jane, how wonderful that the nephew were there when he got pneumonia. I pray that it clears up rapidly and that it isn't too hard on you either. Thanks for emailing Tim.  All our devices were giving us trouble. I had both laptops and my cell in the cyber hospitals today.  The computers are okay now, I think, but they had to reset my cell and so I have to set everything up again. I got all my google apps back but still trying to get everything else working. Probably an all day job tomorrow.

Marilyn, when I get the WWF set up again, I'll let you know and see if our last game is still there or we have to start a new one.  How's Freckles?  Bunny is doing fine.

Sue, I'm so glad to see you back. As Jeanne said, when we stop hearing from someone at our ages, we fear the worst.  The last time was your fall. So glad it was simply computer access this time.

John left for the Gatlinburg tournament today. Then my other knee went out. I managed to hobble to the bathroom and get Voltaren gel on it and get a knee brace. Between those and a cane, I'm getting by. I can't get another shot until 5/15 when I have an appt. Sure hope it work again before the wedding.

Nothing else going on except computer/cell repairs. What a pain.  It's 2:00 AM now. GRRRR Hi to all.  Sharon

Marilyn

Sharon thanks for asking about freckles. I took her back to the vet yesterday and she will be starting aAcupuncture and Cold Laser Therapy next Tuesday,.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  My cleaning ladies who come every 2 weeks were here this morning and my floors have all been damp mopped (all hard wood except for tile in the room which before me was a carport--Kris suggested and laid tile in that room for me).

Tim picked me up after church and took me to Ard's house (Kris's mom) for Easter dinner with them.  We had baked ham (which Tim made (Ard works at the hospital and was given the ham as all their employees get on Easter) and other goodies that Ard, Tim, and Kris made.  We had a nice mid-day dinner and Ard has a new puppy who was kind of a nuisance, but cute, so not that bad!

I have bridge and lunch at Azalea Place today.  Libba will pick me up about 10:55.  I'm hoping for something good to eat, but sometimes it's not so wonderful!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue  (Jane, prayers for you and Ray.  I'm glad he's feeling better.)

SharonE

Hi to everyone. Marilyn, hope the treatments help Freckle.  When our furbabies have a problem, it upset us so much--I know.

Jane, hope Ray is improving.

Sue, it sounds like you had a nice Easter.  Although we didn't see anyone other than at SS & church, we had a nice day.

Thanks for the good wishes for my me days!  Unfortunately, the cell phone I took in to be repaired still isn't functioning, so I have to take it back in in a bit.

I just got off the phone from calling our newspaper to cancel it. It was just way too expensive for what we got and didn't have balanced news.  I must have had to say "CANCEL IT!" 15 times before she finally agreed. She kept lowering the price a little and what not. I had a hard time not asking her what part of
Cancel it!" she didn't understand, but I presume she was under orders to pull out all the stops.  I try not to be rude to people like that, but it was hard.  Well, I better feed the baby and then take the cell phone in.   Have a good day everyone.  Sharon

maryz

jane, sorry Ray has had so many difficulties.  I'm glad you had family there to help.  Hope he continues to improve.  AND that you're getting the rest YOU need.  Remember, care-givers need care, too.

Sharon, sorry you had a sleep-interrupted night.  And that your "me" time is so fraught with problems instead of pampering.  Maybe you should schedule a massage or a mani/pedi.

Marilyn, hope your baby improves soon.

Darlene, we're up to the mid80s already, so we're having some summer days, too.  But I well know how blistering hot it can get in Texas, and I'm sure it's gotten worse over the years.  Keep the a/c running!

Sue, hope you have some good cards and a not-too-bad lunch.

Nothing going on around here this week, except probably a haircut on Thursday.  Hugs to all the Buddies!
