Good Morning again everyone. I pray everyone has a safe and happy  holiday.
I enjoy the pretty ones from a distance do not like the noise so long distance is fine. If I am close to the smoke it makes me sick at the stomach. it got to 92 º here yesterday. while at the doctor had to park in open lot no shade so when got back in car steering wheel burnt hands so turned the vent director of A C towards it and sat for a while until it cooled down.think I will just stay home and relax today. see you all later.

Good morning everyone. The sun is shining and the sky is clear.  Just saw on the news that people are on the beaches already and people are already lining up for the 232nd Bristol parade. That's a lot of years to have a parade on this day.

JEANNE LEE  I like to get the greetings in a day before. Never know what the next day will bring.

LLOYD  ouch with those stitches taken out. Wonder what that male nurse would say if someone took stitches out from him.

PHYLLIS  good graphic, sImple and heartfelt.

JEANNE LEE  wonder if those who let fireworks off to the west of where I am will give us a show tonight. The last few years I sit in my window and see all the ones that go up. One safe way to enjoy them without the crowds.

AMY  I hope you have an uneventful day. A day you and your DH can do just what you feel like doing.

JANE  your place here is always waiting for you, we sure do not want you to get lost.

LLOYD  like you if I can see fireworks from here or on TV I will be happy. No noise, smell or crowds.

Hope we see JOAN post today.

Good Morning Everyone!

And a glorious Fourth of July to one and all.

Wife and Daughter should be in jolly ole England , haven't talk to them yet, but will try shortly.  Nothing planned here today except just finishing up watering outside and hopefully no big bangs tonight to upset and terrorize all the animals in the hood.

Lots of activities planned all around the city, fireworks displays in dozens of locations if you want to venture out.  Free rides for the "drinkers" provided who are driving, passengers must figure out on their own how to get home.

Anyhow coffee is on and I would enjoy the company of any who want to join me for a little conversation.

Hi everyone on this 4th of July. This reminded me to put out my American flag on this bright, sunny and soon to be very hot 96 degree day.  I got about 9 hours of rest/sleep last night and more more alert this morning.  I plan to just stay in where it is cool today.  I do need to shred a pound of cheddar cheese and then make up some more sausage muffins for Pat but neither job is difficult.  I am sitting here eating some of our first watermelon for the season.  I like it very much for breakfast as it is cold and tasty.

Yesterday I did go to Kroger's to pick up the online grocery order and it worked very well.  In fact, we liked it better than Walmart in that you actually get a checkout receipt as if you had gone through a register.  This is really the way to grocery shop. These two stores are right across the highway from each other.

Hal, I just looked up the grass snake as I hadn't heard of it before and see it is a snake that the British have.  Did your wife bring one home from one of her trips to Britian?  :) I haven't seen any snakes in our yard but know across the street there is a retention pond and was told there are water moccasins in it.  I just hope they stay there.

Gloria, hope your grandson was able to fix your computer as you wanted.  We had a strong rain storm yesterday afternoon and lost our Internet for around 3 hours.  I was lost without it as my Chromebook computer becomes a rock without Internet.  I actually had to pick up a book and finish reading it as well as a magazine.  It sounds like you all are stuck with Cox cable.  I only use Comcast for the Internet as we have Dish for TV.  My son recently switched to Comcast for Dish and is very unhappy with it and plans on going back to Dish. We also prefer watching fireworks on the TV.  However, not much we can do about the noise from fireworks in the neighborhood.

Lloyd, I remember going to the doctor with my mother to have stitches removed from her scalp from a fall she had taken in the nursing home.  The doctor used a stainless steel staple remover and then gave it to her as it could only be used once on a patient.  She had had staples used to close the wound rather than stitches like you had.  Not nice that you have to start over with the healing.

June, it sounds like you are doing all you can do to protect yourself from the flu.  Most of the stores here with grocery carts provide those disinfectant wipes where you get the grocery cart and I will often use one to wipe the handle of the cart.  We have used Direct Satellite TV several years ago and it was fine but we like Dish better and likely will stay with them.

deAngel, nothing wrong with a muffin or piece of cake now and then.  I have been trying to cut back on desserts with meals but yesterday in the Kroger grocery order Pat bought me a package of those little cinnamon buns and I had a couple for dinner last night and some for breakfast this morning.  It take three or four of them to equal what one regular cinnamon bun would be (at least that is my story and I am sticking with it).  :)

Jeanne, thanks for the new banners and getting us started on a new week.

Lloyd, during the summer time we keep a set of windshield screens in the back seat than we can easily grab and put up in the front windows.  It doesn't keep the car cool but seems to prevent the steering wheel from getting so hot.  Our cars have very good A/C units and they quickly get the temperatures back down to a comfortable level.  Hope you enjoy a relaxing day.

I talked to my wife and daughter for a few minutes this morning and they had a good flight, except the plane was too cold, and the car my brother-in-law hired showed up on time and got them to his house as planned.  Like the wife said: it is a long flight.  So now the usual running and going will start.  I ask my daughter to not try  to get her Mom to run too much, to please remember her age.  But of course I don't presume to speak for my wife, she will do as she pleases, don't we all.

Got the paper read and water turned on (and off) to finish up the backyard.  So now What.

Need to make a dry run to the dentist office so I am sure I can find it tomorrow at my appointment time.  It isn't too far from the house.

Jeanne Lee, thank you for the perfect graphics. Did you make them ? We had huge noises of fireworks last night already, tonight may be worse. One of the ladies that work in palliative care here told me she had to get medication for her dog on July fourth or the dog nearly trembles to death.

Amy, I am doing the same as you…I'm just letting the day happen. I am still in my nightgown and just finished a small waffle for breakfast and it is already  close to 10 a.m. Thank you for the VON explanation. I do appreciate it.

Hal, thanks ! You make an excellent cup of coffee, and we are all conversing with you.  I read the whole Declaration of Independence that you posted, and at the late age found new meaning in the printed words. I know we studied it in school but it didn't mean a thing to me at the time. Now I can sit back and admire those brave gentlemen.

Larry you do a lot of cheddar cheese shredding. Do you freeze any of it, or do you use that much ! I bought a whole pound last order I placed, but I may have to freeze some, which according to google it can be done.

Larry, In Mn. we had what we called garter snakes or garden snakes. They were not dangerous at all nor very lengthy, but to me a snake is a snake, and I don't even want to look at a picture of them, I felt as a kid I would rather come face to face with a lion than a snake.

Larry, I am glad you heard from wife and daughter and they had a safe arrival. Of course they are going to run around..that's why they went to England.

It has amused me that June gets food from VON and Amy has a visiting nurse from VON.

We are having delightful weather this afternoon - not a cloud in the sky from where I was sitting on my deck.  The temperature is 80 degrees and that is about the point where my a/c goes on - if I turn it on.  Tom did turn on the air, but he is leaving and I may turn it off and open the doors for fresh air.  There is a nice gentle breeze blowing.

Fireworks are quiet this afternoon but will pick up later.  Last night the cat and I sat on the deck while some fire crackers were lit.  Small noises did not bother him, but I saw him shudder when a loud one went off.  I had noticed one day that the noise of thunder does not bother him.  I think the fireworks are at the ball park north of us about three miles and there is a break in the trees across the pond where some of the fireworks show.  What I saw were like confetti chrysanthemums.  Very pretty and dainty.

Good Morning Everyone!

I see Janie and Amy are up and at it, as usual.  I wish I had your energy.  You two are an example for us all.

Lloyd, you and I just kinda get drug along.....just kidding, you are always into something, me I just coast along.

Well, dental appointment this morning and another the 9th for my back and the another appointment for my PT evaluation on the 11th.  And Lord only knows in between.

The coffee is on and the patio is open, but it is pretty warm and humid out, so some of you might not enjoy it, not sure I will go out there this morning.  I hope all of you have a great day and everything goes just as you planned.  Amy put some of those muffins in the hidey hole.

Good morning everyone, it was a very quiet day here yesterday. I only saw 2 other people here and most of the cars were in the parking lot. Weather was perfect and I was out on the porch most of the day.

JEANNE LEE  are you the one who changed the graphic on the Home page? I looked at it and thought it was pretty and then went looking for the name. That surprised me.

HAL  by now I hope you have heard from your ladies in England. I did not hear any fireworks last night. Unusual because some always break the law and get some.

LARRY  I have been enjoying watermelon the last couple of weeks. I tried something with the end of what I had Friday before my son brought me more on Saturday. I cut up what I had left and put it in the blender, added a cut up nectarine and plum and blended it and it was tasty. I did that again yesterday, good thirst quencher. This PC could still work better but it is better since my grandson fixed some things.

CALLIE  I did not even watch the Bristol parade yesterday, always too many commercials and did not stay up to see fireworks on TV.

MARY ANN  I always watched the Boston Pops on the Fourth but the music the last few years leaves much to be desired so last night I did not bother. The musical guests are aimed at the young crowd and not the kind we like.

SHIRLEY  I love what you have under your name. You are right, you are a tough lady.

AMY  looks like another good day here, too. Lower humidity and not too hot.

JANE  you have my mouth watering for homemade black raspberry jam. Been years since I last made that.

Well I went out on patio just to hang fresh juice for the humming birds and came right back in .  Hope they enjoy.

Gloria, talked to them just a little while ago.  My wife is still tired.  They're going over to her other brothers house and to the local grocery to pickup some things. And rest some more,

Hal said he and I drag up late or something like that, that is mostly correct.
also I am so slow to think I am mostly brain dead I think slow now days. lucky to remember my own name, Let alone read and post. my brain goes south that quick. It is cloudy here and humid. Instant weather says current temp, is 70 º
and going for 76 º today and higher tomorrow and next day. Have a great day.
see you all later.

Gloria, I watched some of the Capital Fourth on PBS but like the Pops, it was geared more to younger people.  It was interesting in the long shots to see so much of the color red; it stuck out.  I flipped over to Macy's program and that was worse, so I went back to PBS.  I also did other things so I was not a constant viewer.  Until 11 pm there were fireworks that I could not see so I went to bed.  The noises were not so bad that the cat objected as he did the night before.

Today is bright and sunny.

Jeanne Lee posted a couple of pictures of Tom's twin granddaughters in Norm's Bait and Tackle.  The girls are five months old now.  If you're interested, go to Jeanne Lee's post which is near the end of the posts, and posted yesterday.

GLORIA, if you hurry, I put the last of the jam that didn't make a jarful in the hidey hole.  I don't know how it would taste on a rhubarb muffin but I dropped in a couple slices of whole wheat bread, just in case.

Some thoughtless people around here (very close) began setting off firecrackers just as it was beginning to get dark...right about 8:45 p.m.  They were still setting them off after 11 while the dogs were fidgeting.  They just shake when they hear fireworks.  I hope someone with those people enjoyed them because I didn't.  Annie didn't and Mickie didn't.

I've heard 3 lids pop on the jam (meaning they're sealed).  Waiting for the other 5.  Also dithering about what to do with the rest of the berries.  And I better get moving on that.  I have to work at 4 and that doesn't leave me a lot of time.  I'm thinking I'll have them ready to do whatever I'm going to do and then do it tomorrow when I'm off all day and the furgirls go to the groomer.

Hot and humid here too.  I'm not checking what it is but I'm sweating.

Hi everyone. We are going to have a scorcher of a day getting up to 97 or so with no rain expected.  We have planned to go to the Chop House to celebrate Pat's Birthday and our wedding anniversary when occurs on Friday and Sunday.  However, Scott called last evening saying we may need to postpone it until Saturday as he has the installer for Direct TV coming between noon and four.  If the installer gets there and gone so we can get to the restaurant before 4 pm we will go ahead with our plans for today and if not it will be Saturday in the early afternoon as he has to be at work at 5 pm.  We have nothing else on our schedule for today.

Last evening I watched two 4th of July programs.  They were both on Public TV so no commercials.  The first was presented by the First Baptist Church of Columbia, South Carolina and it was a wonderfully patriotic program featuring a lot of the military past and present honoring them and our country in song and words.  It was so touching in a couple of places I found myself shedding tears.  They had done a similar program last year that I had seen so suspect it is an annual event.  I then watched the Capitol Fourth Celebration from the grounds of the Capitol and it was also excellent and the fireworks were enjoyable as the orchestra played the 1812 Overture.

Hal, glad your wife and daughter are safely at their destination.  It sounds like you are keeping as busy as you want to be.

June, my wife uses a lot of cheese in her cooking and on salads.  We do not freeze it and I put four pounds at a time but shred it a pound at a time.  We also had garter snakes on our farm.  I suppose there were other types of snakes but we weren't close to where there would have been poisonous snakes.

Amy, here in the South it seems we have a lot of summer type weather in seasons other than summer.  I will take that to snow and ice anytime.  We didn't have any snow last winter that I recall.

Jane, I can't image how good that black raspberry jam must be.  However, I seldom eat toast anymore so don't really use jam or jelly anymore.

Gloria, your fruit drink sounds delicious.  It reminds me I haven't made any of my frozen fruit in a long time and still have some fruit in the freezer that needs to be made up.

Lloyd, I tried to post the link to the cute little video you sent but it it tied to your email account.  It was cute.

Happy Wed. Morning dear hearts. I am very sleepy. The fireworks kept me awake till nearly midnight. They were so loud, sounded like they were right outside my window. I was able to view some of the very high ones, but we have tall pines it the garden that blocks a lot of  the sky. I woke at five a.m. so there will be a nap this afternoon for sure.

We have Bible study at 10, with Jeff Davis, whom I like very much.My Gary and Dori are still in Idaho , be home a week from today.

speaking of canned jams and jellies, my mom always sealed hers with hot wax, about 1/3 in. thick.

We will have a high of 86 today..to me, that's hot. So after lunch I   will come home and get dressed in slouch clothing (comfortable). I have a book to finish, and three more on my table waiting. I hope your day is all that you want it to be.

JUNE, my mom always sealed her jams and jellies with melted wax also.  Thank goodness we don't have to do THAT any more!  I think that might be why I stopped making it for a while

HAL, you're absolutely right!  Jam is good on waffles and pancakes.  And my grandmother used to use it to sweeten her tea....regular hot tea and iced tea too.

Good on Corn bread and corn muffins, a dab on a piece of plain spice cake is special.  And a dab of black raspberry jam on a scoop of chocolate ice cream is to die for!  Use your imagination!

Good afternoon, not quite as hot, was able to read my paper on the deck this morning.

Joan, we are missing you, hope everything is OK.

When I made beach plum jelly, I always use the wax method. that it what we used in days gone by.

Amy, I have never head of rhubarb muffins. I would like to try one if Hall leaves any. :)

Gloria, when we visited Mark on the Cape on the 4th. he always made sure in the evening, we all set and watched the Boston Pops.  I use to enjoy them.

Larry, I tried to watch the Macys firework show, but I just could not get into it.  Did watch the Capital 4th. and enjoyed it very much.  Of course I always liked the Beach Boys, they have aged gracefully At the end I enjoyed all those flags and the patriotic songs.  I watched just a little of the fireworks.  The music was great., but the fireworks get boring on TV

I watched The Capitol Fourth and then switched to the Macy's Fireworks Spectacular just in time to see all of the fireworks and hear the marvelous music by the military band and chorus.
This morning,  Miss Ellen posted a short video of those fireworks from where she and three friends were watching.  Couldn't tell where that was but they had a wonderful unobstructed view of the river.

JaneS and others with raspberries.....the last time I saw my "domestic" dil, she wondered what to do with all the raspberries they had picked from their bushes.   While sorting out some cookbooks,  I found one from a Raspberry Festival in Iowa that I'd probably attended while visiting relatives...who knows how long ago?   There are some interesting recipes using raspberries so I'll save it for her.

The phone woke me this morning about an hour before I intended to get up.  It was my neighbor telling me they were leaving to take their two grandchildren on a cruise, when they'd be back and who to call in case of an emergency with their house.   I already knew all of that !!!!!

Naturally,  I couldn't go back to sleep.  I've managed to water the pot garden, do some desk work, go to the bank and stop by Braum's to restock dairy products.   Now I'm ready to be a Recliner Radish for the duration.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Linedancer, I left all of you some muffins.  I had never heard of rhubarb until I went to England.  Course it is kinda a cold weather plant and I don't think it is grown in Texas.  But I ate it in pies.  More of a cobbler, sorta, I think. But guess that could be a topic for discussion.  Over there it is often served with custard over it.

I remember my Mother in law made an apple pie, not many spices in it.  I suggested she try using some cinnamon in it next time.  It was an instant hit.

Hal, another name for rhubarb is "pie plant".  Some people combine the rhubarb with strawberries for jams, makes a good jam.  At the house where I grew up and lived for 50 years, we had a pie plant that my dad planted.  Ate from that plant until I moved away.

A good Wednesday afternoon to ALL.

I am sorry to have to report that Our Joan is back in the hospital.  Joe posted on Face Book.

Hello All - I wanted to let you know that Mom (Joan Lavelle) is back in the hospital, this time in Alabama. As happens with COPD, she needed more support for her breathing and related anxiety.  Hopefully, this will be a short stay!

We all hope and pray it is a short stay as well.  Feel better soon JOAN!

I am sorry I did not get in yesterday to wish you all a Happy Independence Day.  We joined Dr. Dave and Family at their community 4th of July sponsored picnic by their HOA at noon.  It was a very nice catered picnic.  The usual fare, hamburgers, hot dogs with all the fixings.  The BBQ beans were so delicious.  There were so many there it was crazy.  Can't even imagine how much something like that would cost?  My oldest Grandson, Matt, was so attentive to me, helping me get my food and making sure I had everything....sure makes a grandma feel blessed and so important.  It was very enjoyable.

We came home afterwards......it was quite warm out and our puppy dog was waiting for us.  We spent the rest of the day at home.  We, too, watched both the Macy's and the PBS 4th coverage.  The PBS one was very enjoyable, but the Macy's one was not to our liking.  Both fireworks displays were very good.  There were two big local displays visible from our home.  Neighbors with little grands visiting set off quite the display in our cul-de-sac.  The children yelling was annoying to Oliver but thankfully he was not bothered by the big loud bangs that went off until nearly midnight.  The fire truck went by around 10 PM, so clearly there was some issue not too far from us.  I personally think fireworks should be left to the professionals ONLY, but people just do not understand that no fireworks means for THEM!!

I am trying to finish up my laundry so must get the dryer unloaded.

Enjoy the rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND!

Jenny

I didn't go to any Fourth festival, but I have been spending my days in England this week - and will next week, too.  I'm home every afternoon at 4:00 p.m......  when the tennis matches end for the night.  Sure beats housework.   ;D

I'm really sorry Joan is back in the hospital and I hope this will be a short visit.  We need her around here.  Thanks for passing the word, Jenny.

I'm home and I'm tired but my last customer made my day worth while.  He is about the age of my son (mid 50s) and he didn't have a lot but when he had it all back in his cart he looked straight at me and said "Thank you for helping me tonight".  What a way to finish my day!

Now I'm going to go see what's playing on the TV set on the inside of my eyelids.  And I think I'll go to bed early.  I have bills to pay tomorrow and that's a thankless job!

Good night and God Bless!

Jenny, thank you so much for giving us Joe's message on Joan/Bis. COPD is a cruel disease to live with and it can be very frightening, so hospital care is essential. Prayers will continue. Bis is such a vital lady, it must be very difficult to have to accept the essential help. I thank God she has such loving children and to Joe especially for keeping us so informed.

While I was up late last night due to the awful noise of constant fireworks, I snooped the net for what we spend on fireworks. A short synopsis follows.
USA Today.
So how much money is spent on fireworks?
   â€¢   Total revenue: $1.09 billion
   â€¢   Consumer: $755 million
   â€¢   Display: $340 million
Other areas posted "Billions". and Disney will not say what they spend. We make China more wealthy as they are the major producers of fireworks.

And then there is this:Food Stamp Craze: U.S. Spends $3.6 Billion to Give $70 Billion in Benefits.Which is more important ? Food stamps or Fire works ?

Janie, what a lovely way to bring your work day to a close. It makes my heart happy.

I have lived up to my slouching day, now it is time to fix some supper. Have a good evening dear hearts.

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching his  wife, who was looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her birthday.
'I'd like to be eight again', she replied, still looking in the mirror .

On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Coco Pops, and then took her to Adventure World theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Roller Coaster, everything there was.
Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.. He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.
Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favourite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!
Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.
He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being eight again?
Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed.
'I meant my dress size, you f@*#*! retard!!!!'
The moral of the story:
Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.

Good morning everyone..

Another beautiful day here. Our truck load of wood came yesterday and it is half way piled. I was making one pile smaller when the neighbour came over and helped me making it disappear fast!  Will do the other pile today and hope to get that one  done before VON gets here.

This was sent to me in an email and I was asked to share with you. At the beginnig you hear the loons and that is what I was listening to the other night at midnight ,the loons were really singing up a storm across the lakes.

Hope Joan is feeling better and praying for a quick recovery for her.

I need to get a move on here...

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Amy, I loved it!  It's so nice to hear the call of the loons and the young fellas did a great job on the song.  I think I heard that one of them was a member of the Canadian Astronaut team.  Am I right?

I've got everything ready to can the rest of the black raspberries and as soon as I get my morning stuff done, I'll be getting that done.

The furgirls go to the beauty shop at noon today so I have to remember not to be involved in something that can't be interrupted to take them.

I hope you all have a lovely day today.  We're supposed to have rain but I'm not going to let that slow me down.  Well, rain IS good sleeping weather, isn't it?  I guess I'd have to slow down some for that.

I and another fellow was hauling horses to a plant where they slaughtered them fast froze the meat and flew it to France , they eat it over there as a delicacy. not my bag I love my horses. Moseley pet them now days but still hitch them to a wagon and take a drive.  while back I traded for a veizeave  ( for you that may not know what that it it is sort of like a stagecoach you see in western movies but with out door s on side of it. I am fixing some damage it has and am going to drive the old girls to it. when I get it shape shape you can come see us and go for a free ride in it.

Amy, thanks for the Canada song and video.  I hope you don't mind, but I sent it to a shirt-tail relative in BC.  She is an American citizen who married a Canadian man, now deceased, and who has not given up her American citizenship but will be buried in BC.  Howz that for confusion?  I know she'll like it.

Living so close to Ontario, Canada, I could feel myself doing many of the things mentioned in the video.  We may have loons in Michigan but not around where I live.  I love hearing them.

It is 70 degrees here at 9 am and supposed to be at least 80 later in the day.  Being Thursday, I have nothing planned, but will take the day as it unfolds.

I, too, hope Joan's hospital stay is short and that she can return to us soon.

Hi everyone. It is already 80 degrees this morning and headed up to 94 with sun or mostly sunny all day.  We didn't get to the Chop House yesterday as the man installing Scott's Direct TV didn't finish until about 4pm.  So Scott and Jennifer went to the Wifesavers and got us all chicken dinners with sides for our evening meal.  We now plan on going to the Chop House on Saturday afternoon around 2 pm.  The only thing I have planned for today is to go to coffee.  I probably won't go to the Wisdom group today as I got up feeling weary and this heat really is a bit hard on me.  I may watch some of the golf later this afternoon.

I know it is hard to believe but I am going to be very brief this morning as I have to leave before long.  I read all of the postings before I got up this morning and appreciate each and every one of them.

I was certainly sorry to read that it was necessary for Joan to go back to the hospital to get aid for her breathing.  Sure glad she is now close to her family.

Good morning everyone. Late getting started today. So nice and cool I just stayed in bed longer and fell back to sleep. The weather has been just about as perfect for July. Upper 70's and low humidity. Who could ask for better?

HAL  I can believe your wife is tired after the long flight and time difference. I know when I used to go visit my daughter in San Diego it always took me a day ot 2 to feel rested, same with coming home. Always came home on a Friday to have a couple of days before going back to work.

AMY  is the whole summer had temerature and humidity like this I could learn to like it.

LLOYD  you are not the only one who has slowed down.

MARY ANN  the Boston Pops Fourth progra was always wonderful till the last few years. Now I just cannot enjoy it. Wonder what Arthur Feilder would think of the program he started so many years ago.

JANE  bet the jam would taste great on a rhubarb muffin. I love rhubarb, too. Been years since I made a rhubarb pie. I did not hear any fireworks going off around here at all. Maybe the town cops finally craked down on those who alway illegally would shoot them. I loved hearing those pops when I canned.

LARRY  the Boston Pops always end with the 1812 and fireworks. While summer fruit is here I intend to make the fruit drink. First time I added a mandarin orange and forgot it last time. Will not forget it today. Just fruit and a container of yogurt added and it is tasty.

JUNE  when I first learned how to make jam and jelly I was taught to use the waz to seal it. The jars with lids are much easier and better.

GLORIA de  you would not enjoy the Boston Pops now. The music is geared to all the young folks and you know what their music sounds like. They seemed to forget it is our generation that helped make them so popular.

CALLIE  my oldest son has red raspberry bushes but they never did anything with them. I would get some but just to eat. Shame to see most go to waste.

HAL  yes you need the cinnamon is apple pies. annot imagine one with just sugar in it.

MARY ANN  never heard rhubarb called pieplant around here. I like strawberry pie and rhubarb pie but not the combination of them.

JENNY  thank you for the news about Joan. Not something we want to hear. She is always in my prayers and will add more for her. I  am glad she is close to family now and they do not have to do all that traveling to be with her. Even the professionls with fireworks have accidents at times.

AMY  how thoughtful pf you to send some home made muffins with the men who delivered your wood.

LLOYD  you and me both with sweet teeth. Hardly ever turn any down.

JANE  if only more customers were as nice as that last one you had. How many ever say thank you to you?

JUNE  Food stamps are not a craze. They keep may good people from starving.

LLOYD  good joke.

AMY  loved that link. I have a niece who has been looking up our geneology and she has been sharing with me what she finds. Many of our ancesters came to the states from Canada. I know my Father was born in Canada.

We are truly blessed with good neighbours!! I was out in the cool of the morning piling the last pile of wood and over come the neighbour and his dog. Wood was all piled before 10 this morning and now all the chaff from it has been raked up and bagged to take to the dump.

Jane yes Chris Hadfield is on that team. I love listening to the loons at night, I have even had them fly over my head so close that I can hear the wind in their wings.

Hal, glad you liked it.

Gloria,do you know what province he was born in?

Lloyd, not really all that cool here 78 ° at the moment and clouding over.

Mary Ann ,glad you also enjoyed it. Share all you like . :)

Better go wash and wax the van ,get it ready to go to the city tomorrow.

Hi all, nearly noon our here in Ca.  I came in late as I needed to take a walk and do a few errands...like return a library book, pick up some bakery for tomorrows breakfast. Today they had french doughnuts and other goodies. I don't go down for breakfast..I am slow in the mornings, so I grab some bakery stuff they display. And I needed a walk to bring myself alive.

Gloria, I am NOT anti food stamps. I know they are essential. I was just comparing the waste of money on fireworks, compared to the NEED of money for more important things. Like food stamps. I well remember when I was in school and Pres. Roosevelt had a program where excess food was sent to our fire stations in all the small towns around us and my Dad would go down and pick up what was given. Once I recall oranges, another time it was corn meal, and we WERE hungry. It was like Manna from Heaven to our empty stomachs. So I lived through that era, and I don't want anyone else to go to bed hungry.

Hi Everyfriend!  I have 11 jars of black raspberries canned and sitting on the counter popping like crazy.  They sure will taste good when the snow flies!

I baptized my new electric canner and it's wonderful!  I wish I'd had it 20 or so years ago.  I wish my mother had one.  I wish my grandmother had one!

Also want to say, we were all great about wishing one another a Happy 4th of July and we all got in on it.  If I'm correct, even Amy wished us all a happy 4th.  But are any of you aware that Canada celebrated CANADA DAY on July 1 and not one of us wished Amy a Happy Canada Day?  That's part of the reason The Hadfield Brothers had that song on YouTube.  They have parades and celebrations and, I think, fireworks on THEIR day.

AMY, BELATED HAPPY CANADA DAY TO YOU AND ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES FROM ONE OF YOUR AMERICAN FRIENDS!

Not a good afternoon at Wimbledon for American Bethanie Mattek-Sands.  She twisted her knee and collapsed, crying in excruciating pain before the arrival of an ambulance.  Hopefully there will be news tomorrow about her condition.

There are always more slips and tumbles on the grass than other surfaces, but it's not that often that a serious injury is the result.

Hi everyone. It is going to be another hot day here in South Carolina getting into the mid-90's. I have no plans for today and am thankful as got up feeling very weary.  I did get the dishwasher unloaded and things out for Pat's breakfast and for my own.  I have a few things to take care of here in my office and that will likely be it for today.

Gloria, I always enjoyed the Boston Pops but the last couple of times watching them not so much.  I have never liked rhubarb. Your fruit drinks sound good although I don't know about the yogurt.  I remember my mother using wax on some of her jars and I always liked that as would get a little piece to chew on as we didn't very often get chewing gum. I have read a couple of news story about the reduction in food stamps issued in several States since they added back a work requirement for able bodied persons. I am glad we have food stamps for people who can no longer work or for short term needs when jobs are lost.

Jeanne, it is always sad to see a professional athlete (or anyone else) become injured.

Jane, in my view it certainly is not a downfall to want to spend time with Kiran as those are precious moments that she will always remember.  I know she give you a lot of joy as well.

Hal, how unusual to get a cost less than expected.

Amy, it must be nice knowing you have all your wood delivered and stacked for the coming season.

June, are you able to pick up the bakery items at any time during the day?

Good morning everyone, it is raining, Started about an hour ago as very light but now it is really pouring. Weather guessers say at time could be 1 to 2 inches an hour of rain. We lost power for a couple of hours yesterday, Someone hit a telephone pole the nest street from here. The elevator didn't work after the power came back and a man from the elevator company finally came at 8pm. Good thing no one was in it when that happened. The ones outside could not come in, the doors open with a fob and that is run my electric.Glad I did not have to go out, I would never be able to go down 2 flights of stairs.

AMY  no I do not know what province he was born in. I can ask my niece, she most likely has that information. She has gone back to the late 1700's so has a lot of family history. Wash and wax your van? Are you wanting to drive in the rain today?   Thank you for the Fourth greetings. I can never remember when Canada Day is so will wish you a belated wish for a great day.

JUNE  I am slow getting started in the mornings, too. Long gone are the days I would shut the alarm off and start off full speed. I remember when that government surplus was given to needy families. I was young then and I know one sister whe was a widow with 3 little ones would get that food.

JANE  11 jars of jam should last you awhile unless you start giving them away to family members. Nothing bought can compare with the taste and aroma of homemade jam and jelly. We had a lot of wild grape vines and boy did I make jars of jam with them. I had a big pressure canner after a few years of canning in that huge copper tub for the hot water canning. The pressure canner sure cut out hours of waiting. I better make a note of Canada Day on July  1st.

AMY did you get your van washed yesterday? If so you were asking for the rai you have today. For me that and washing windows it was sure to rain the next day.

HAL  I called the pain doctor yesterday to cancel my appointment and tell them I will not go for anymore shots in my back. The first one is the only one that worked for a month.

LARRY  I am not really fond of yogurt but in the fruit drink I have been making there is no taste of the yogurt but a little of some good stuff with all that fruit. The most fruit in it is watermelon. When Keith Lockhart took over the Boston Pops I still enjoyed it but the last 2 or 3 years with those guests he has and the music they play I do not bother. This state has finally started checking more on those getting food stamps. They caught one man who was getting a couple hundred dollars worth of them. He would go to BJ's wholesale club-like Costco- and buy all kind of food, put it in his van and they followed him. He them went to a small neighborhood store and unloaded the van there. The items were put on the shelves and the prices went up. Needless to say they were latino and could hardly speak English. Both men ended in jail. Some they found selling the food stamps and then go but booze or drugs. Makes me happy when people like that get caught. Then some who really need that help might get about $30 a month. That sure does not go far.

LLOYD  glad you slept good last night. I think it was after 4 this morning when I finally fell asleep.

JOAN  if you get to check in, thoughts and prayers are with you hoping you go home soon. Feel better.

Gloria, I was in to see my pain doctor this morning. And we talked about the shots in my back.  He said that obviously where they were shooting me was the right spot, since I got some relief for a couple of days, until to Lidocane wore off.  So now he want to go in the same area and "burn" the nerve endings in that area.  He said the effective rate of success was around 80 percent, in most cases and duration of the "burnings" was 6-8 months.  I ask him if they were so successful why they didn't do that instead of the cortisone shots.  Insurance companies was the answer to me.  And the procedure can be repeated.

They put you out to do the procedure just like the cortisone shots in the spinal area.

You may want to ask about the procedure.  I am scheduled for September, they are running that far behind in their schedule.

Good afternoon, it rained all day, but now the sun is out.  the humidity has gone down also.

Joan, sending prays and good thoughts your way.

Gloria, I enjoyed the Capital 4th this year.  I forgot the women's name who sang, but she had a clear beautiful voice.  I use to like the Beach Boys, but as someone said the group was not all the same.  The country western singer, has a wonderful speaking voice.   I first watched the fellow who was the MC, on General Hospital my favorite soap. When Mark had us all watch the Boston 4th. it was just tradition the children all would set with us.  those days are gibe forever, but such good memories

amy hope your husband does well, with his trip to the doctor.

Hal, I had those shots for a few years, but finally gave up.  If they last longer, but not worth it for a few days..Hope you have heard from your family.

Linedancer, yes I have talked to my family everyday since they have left.  Facetime is a great gizmo.  And most of all my kids and grandkids.

I was in this morning, but evidently did not post anything. no memory !!!!

Larry, they have a coffee bar on the first floor, in both the main floor in the club house, and also one in our C building, both places are filled each morning with bakery goods, but when it is gone, it is gone. Coffee and tea go on all day.

Gloria, I have been waking some mornings at five a.m. for a bathroom call,  then sometimes doze off a bit, but at 6 a.m. I get my first thyroid pill, a patch for nitro, and a blood pressure check, so by then I am ready to start the day. I think that is why I am starting to fade out by noon, and the rest of the day is very slow...naps, etc. and a lot of reading and computing. Very little energy left in this body, but glad I can do what I do.

LARRY, I didn't mean that being with Kiran was a downer.  What I mean was that my wanting to spend time with her when she's here adds to my tired feeling at the end of the day.  I'll take the tired feeling over not having her every day.  She lights up my day!

However, I'm extremely tired tonight so I think I'll just go turn on the TV, sit on the sofa and see if my eyes remain open.  I rather doubt that they will.  In fact, I think I'll put on my jammies first.

Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend...whatever it brings your way.  And my God bless your slumber and bring you a happy tomorrow.

JaneS not sure but I think I may know what you are trying to say to hall.It is always good to have the young here but always good  to see them go. they just need to come more often when I need help. it makes my day when the grand's
come and run over jump on my lap and give me a big hug and juice smooch.
Have a great rest of the day. it is about time for me to wish all sweet dreams.

Hi everyone. This will be another hot day getting up in the area of 93 degrees with a chance of rain.  We were under another severe thunderstorm warning for two or three hours last evening but still not a drop of rain.  Our main activity today is to go to our planned dinner at the Chop House.  We will eat around 2 pm as Scott has to get back and get ready for work later this afternoon.  Later this morning I plan on taking a package to the UPS drop off place as have an order we need to return to Amazon.  I awoke at 4 am this morning and couldn't go back to sleep for got up at six.  I will try to rest for a couple of hours later this morning before we go to dinner.

Lloyd, I did not get the email you mentioned.

Gloria, that is too much rain in such a short time that you were expecting yesterday.  Couldn't your doors be opened from the inside so the people could be let back in.  I used to get up and start at full speed also but that seems to have gone.  This morning I had to sit on the side of the bed from just arising and it probably took me five minutes to get dressed.  Sorry to hear you are not getting relief from your shots in your back.  It sounded hopeful in the beginning.  Apparently there is a lot of fraud in the food stamp area and that seems to exist in many of the government programs from Medicare/Medicaid.  I had a call from a company wanting to send me a new CPAP machine.  I have no idea where they got the idea I needed a new one, which I don't, and think it may be a way to scam the insurance companies.

Hal, isn't it great to know that the insurance companies are now telling the doctors what they can do for their patients and when.  I sure hope the burning procedure brings you relief.

deAngel, I wonder if the singer you mentioned was the Broadway Star?  I had never heard of her but she did have a nice voice.  I also enjoyed Trace Adkins.  I had never heard Kelly Pickler sing and she has sort of a unique voice.   Glad your weather has cleared off.

June, your day does get an early start.  It is nice the bakery items are left until gone rather than just being discarded.

JaneS, I hope you didn't think I was criticizing you regarding your time with Kiran.  I understand completely how tiring having to be constantly doing something or even being around children, who have so much energy to burn, can be tiring.  We love having them around but, as Lloyd said, then love to see them go home also so we can rest.

Good morning everyone!

The cleaning lady is coming by this afternoon.  To  stratighten things up and dust and vacuum.

Larry,I went by my oldest daughters house after going to pain doctor to get her opinion about this new (to me) procedure and they were babysitting their four grandkids.  Wall to wall kids.  Lol.  You are right, more energy than the law allows.

I have one of my granddaughters.and her husband coming by around lunch time to share a meal.  I will let her pick something up and I will buy.  I have a great family..heck even better than great.

I do envy (I know that's a sin) all the.rain you have been getting. Once again a line formed here late afternoon and split when it got us and rained both sides and missed us.

I hope all of you have a great day. Janie I know you're going to have a great day, Ddont et your granddaughter why are you out too much, but have a good time.

Lord I know you and I have a good time with all the family there it's always nice to have family around when all said and done family is probably the most important people in the world and all of us .

Well I want to get off of here and see what I can get into I'm trying to figure out how to order tires on those Instacart where do I deliver stuff to the house I've got one free delivery so I'll let you know I comes out.

Good Morning to all. I woke early today and was thinking about a time when our Sandy said she took cold showers, so after my medicine girl gave me the morning stuff I took that cold shower. WOW ! what a jolt to have the cold water hit the top of my head, but after a minute, I was enjoying the whole thing...like a dip in the lake. And I feel more alert that I have for weeks.

Sandy...thanks for that cold shower tip. I love it.

There are things posted to enjoy, but I will pass. I don't play shuffle board, or the putting green.....my cart would get in the way. Something new with remote control cars...I may just watch that a bit after lunch, and then at 2:30 they offer Wiibowling on the big t.v.....I will be napping by then for sure. And this evening a DVD of Tony Bennet will be shown....I'd rather stay home and read. And so the day will go. I am content.

Well, i'm up but I'm not sure I'm attem yet.  I decided to see what I actually do all day and I started a journal.  Wonder what the kids will think when they find that!

I have the bedding in the washer and dryer so I'll be redoing the bed at some point today...if I don't forget.  I guess I'll remember by the time I go to crawl in tonight.

So far today, I emptied the dishwasher, got dressed, washed up the breakfast dishes, fed the dogs, made coffee, washed a couple loads of bedding, messed up an application, went outside with my hair all anyhow and met two neighbors, did a couple puzzles and the drier just stopped.  Not a very exciting day.  Anyone want it?  I'd be happy to switch!

GOOD MORNING!

I have never really liked the terminology "Old People" but this makes me feel better after reading this it seems it is not a bad thing!

"OLD PEOPLE" PRIDE

Old People are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem. Old People remove their caps, cover their hearts, stand at attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them.

Old People remember World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Normandy, and Hitler.. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to mentionVietnam

If you bump into an Old Person on the sidewalk he will apologize. If you pass an Old Person on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old People trust strangers and are courtly to women and treat them with great respect.

Old People hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.

Old People get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.

Old People have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children, grandchildren or their animals.

It's the Old People who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old People with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country, and decent values. We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old People....

🎊 HAPPY "55th"

ANNIVERSARY 🎊

PAT 🎊 LARRY

I wish you many more years of happiness together.  Enjoy your meal tonight with your family.  ðŸŽ, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ðŸŽ, wishes also, to Pat.

JANE, you, too, will probably be shocked at what all you do in one day when you see it in black and white!  😍

Hoping that Our JOAN might be back with us today!  Sure hope and pray she is feeling much better.

JUNE, I have been forced to take a cold shower before, but think I will pass on doing it voluntarily!  😘 I do not take hot showers, as it dries my skin out, but Colorado water is COLD, even in the summer!  When we lived in Arizona, we did take cold showers because the water there is so warm right out of the tap!

HAL, it appears you are doing just fine batching it!  You are blessed, as you know, to have your caring family spend time with you in your sweeties absence.  Totally agree with you about the little ones having more energy than the law allows.  IF only we could borrow some from them!  Sure holding good thoughts for you if you decide to proceed with the nerve burning.  I know many that have done this and seem to get the relief they need.

GLORIA, I am sorry that your shots have no longer helped with your back.  Maybe you need to have the procedure done that HAL is talking about?

LARRY, it is very frustrating for the doctors as well, to be told by insurance companies just what a patient needs are!

My thoughts and prayers are with two of my sons today.....the oldest is driving from Chicago to Denver with two of my grandsons.  The youngest is driving from Austin to Denver with his wife and the items that the packers would not take!  They are most anxious to get here to be with their Doggie, Oliver.

I wish you ALL a good Saturday.

Jenny

LARRY & PAT
Happy Anniversary

Good morning everyone, almost noon and I am just getting here.

HAL  I have had more shots in my back than I can remember and only the first one helped for more than 1 day. I was never put out for the shots and they did hurt. Only once did he put the shots in the spine area and that is when he hit the nerve that had my left leg jump up off the table. I yelped that time and he asked what was the matter and I told him. He did it the second time, guess he wanted to see what would happen and the leg came up from the table again. Since then I have had trouble with my left leg. I told him that and he said nothing. I will wait till I see my doctor and tell her about it. Walking, sitting or laying down there is no more relief. Mine is from the spine to my left hip. When I stand even 5 minutes I get a burning sensation in that area.

GLORIA de  it rained here all day yesterday, too. This morning the sun is shining but another storm due late today.

JUNE I have no energy at all any more. I have to make myself get up in the mornings because I know it is going to hurt. When I see my doctor in a couple of weeks I am going to ask her about either a change in them or stronger. I do not think they help much anymore, been taking the same ones about 4 years now.

LARRY  in this area we got a little over 1/12 inches of rain, along the coast they got over 2 inches. Our on Cape Cod in places close to 5 inches of rain. I think the doors could be pushed open from the inside if there was someone in the lobby to see them. I see ads on TV for different things if you have Medicare will cost you nothing. To me if it is legit they would not have to advertise.

HAL  tiy are not the only one wanting rain. If all the areas with fires now got the rain we had yesterday those fires would have been put out.

JANE  you did a lot this morning. I did get dressed, have me oatmeal and turned on the TV and laid on the couch. Then got up from there and made the bed up and here I am. Might check me email after of just look for something on TV and las on the couch again.

JENNY  hope you do not mind but I copied your "Old People". They put out a monthly newsletter here and use stories like this at times. I will email it to the man who does that and see if he will use it. So true and we are all old people here. Like you I will take warm showers, cold ones are too shocking to this old body. Safe travels to both your sons today.

I pray we hear from JOAN soon.

Good afternoon,  we also had a lot of rain yesterday, the bird bath is overflowing.

Jenny, I enjoyed that post Old Folks.

Gloria, when I was in rehab in the nursing home, Medicare said I would need some sort of a gadget to put on my socks, as I had trouble bending, with my bad back. they sent home a walker.  also said I needed a transport wheel chair, which they would pay for.  A month later, I got a bill for the sock gadget, it is still in the wrapper, and they sent a rental statement for the wheel chair. I had to pay a rent fee on it.  I had it two months never used it.  the walker they did give me, but I still only use a cane.  the walker I use to get out of the tub, as it is a garden tub, very wide.   I sent the wheel chair back

Janie, I am relating to your post. I am here, I have done nothing compared to what you have accomplished, but I did get some walking done and then sat outside in a swing-bench and got more exercise doing that with my legs. Came home, lay down and read, and in an hour I will go down for lunch. I'm feeling pretty worthless, but still content with having the excuse of "age".

Jenny, I have copied and printed "Old People Pride" and intend to take it down and post it on our bulletin boards. It made me feel good, so I will pass it on to others that need a boost in their morale. My friend that introduced me to cold showers had a severe stroke, and she is much younger than me. She claims she uses no soap, needs no lotions, so since this seems to have given me more energy, I may continue with the program. It cant hurt.

Gloria, when I had the sore on my leg that took forever to heal because of  the P.A.D. situation, they gave me a pain pill when they had to treat the sore. It was a narcotic, Percocet, and I did not want to keep taking it, but it really helped and was really needed, so after a while  I ordered extra strength Tylenol and that really did help. Gloria dear, life is not life when you are living with pain as you are. Do ask your doctor about percoset. At our age, I don't think we have to be concerned about habit forming medications.

Good afternoon.

I am late :(  Last night we had dandy t storms roll through and both dogs did not like it..neither did I as that meant note much sleep. I hit the floor a running this morning ,first was gather up the wood chips from the load of wood to take to the dump along with a big can of last winters ashes. When we got to the dump we found that a baby black bear had fallen into one of the dumpsters.poor baby was so scared!!! The  men were going to put down some wooden pallets for him to climb out on. Wonder where Momma bear was???

Like Jane I also did laundry and hung the bedding out, then washed and hulled 6 quarts of strawberries ,emptied the hot tub and refilled it and that is about it for me today!!!

Yesterday was a long day appointment was for 3.30 but she was running behind and we didn't get in till 4:45....boy I was so glad to get home . Friday night traffic is  stinker ,everyone in such a hurry!!

Now I need to figure out something for supper......

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my boys traveling today.  I sure appreciate it.

Brian and Cathy arrived safe and sound, and Pliver was so happy to see them.  We had a nice meal and then they showered and headed off to bed.

Kurt and the boys are in North Platte Nebraska tonight.  They have about less than 5 hours left to drive tomorrow.  We are sure anxious to see them!

Good morning everyone

Going to be another hot one today..and a day of rest too!

I just may squeak in some sewing today.I see the lawn needs mowing again but that can wait till tomorrow. Have been writing a list of all that needs to be done on Mon so might as well add one more to it.

Jane, I gave Skye a big hug , oh my she is a beautiful well mannered dog. The kids took her to a dog park, let her off the leash and did she run!!! Wiped out on the wet grass but really had a great time. Can't imagine why someone would turn her into a rescue but thankful they did and not just turn her lose.Had to laugh when my son said she hogs the bed!!

Larry, maybe this week we can go get the kindling from a man that makes cedar shakes, he bundles up the ones that aren't up to being used for shinles and all we have to do is cut the 12 inch bundle and we are good to go.

Gloria, yes I did manage to get my van washed but I ran out of steam and didn't get it waxed that day. Water still bead up on it so it is ok.

Linedancer, still no concrete answers on why this happened other than blaming it on meds. She wants him to wear a Holder monitor and go for more blood work ,then see her again in Aug.

Jenny enjoy your time with your family..

Better get  a move on here and get a few things done beofre the heat wants to hugs us.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Thanks for the update on the "kids", Jenny..... always glad when they are off the road & safely home.  I came back to copy your Old Folks, such a treat to read something NOT making fun of us, huh?  I thought I had saved it to WordPad but somehow it didn't stick.   :crazy2:

Lloyd, I do understand this heat dragging us down... every job I start in this weather is like pushing a 2 ton truck in front of me.  I do whine all summer & wish I had trees everywhere to hide under.  Then I remember the "good old days" when we didn't have air conditioning at all.  One summer I worked at the AF Base near you, in a concrete block building with concrete floor... and it was 118° outside & probably 40-50 of us working inside (office-supply), baking in that oven.  We had a fan on a stand at the front door that only circulated hot air.  Had my first heat stroke that year.  Cools me off in this AC home just thinking about that year!

Off to feed cats and dress for church.  Prayers for all in need (and who doesn't need them?) Shirley

You slipped in, Amy.... love reading about Skye & keep watching the online rescue sites... I want a dog but know it will upset the cats so keep putting off actually going to check out the rescues, know I will fall in love and cause WWIII in my house.

Shirley  yes we talk about the used days also.  when I was a child we lived in a small town and did not even have fans except a news paper folded or if we could catch grandma lay her fan down was a cardboard on a little flat stick.
Nancy did not even have electricity until her and her brother got out of school. they had it installed for there folks. after Her and i were married  I put running water in for them.the well was right at the Conner of there house. was a dug and walled up was house was gutted in to it . so rain kept it full and they were easy on water use. now that was hard times. as a result Nancy grew up a Penney pincer. that is ok even tho I grew up working hard and helping put food on the able I want something I either earn or borrow the money and get it. reason why I am still in debt. well our Pa company got in here a bit after Midnight ( still sleeping in this AM. talking about hot it is 69 º at 7:19 and calling for 90 º today, what they called for here yesterday and got in mid 90 tys,  I am ready for fall cooler. I lost one hive of bees , they swarmed and left, they must decided it is too hot also. you all have a good day. see you all later.

Hi everyone. We did get a brief shower yesterday in the late afternoon, which was most welcome.  It is to be a few degrees cooler today only getting into the low 90's.  We will be going to Sunday School, Church and then out to lunch at Ruby Tuesday's, where we have a coupon for a free burger because of Pat's birthday.

We did have a good time yesterday at the Chop House.  I enjoyed a nice salad, crab cake, baked potato and mac and cheese.  Pat had a nice steak salad and broccoli and Scott and Jennifer had nice meals, although the pork chops Scott ordered had been overcooked and were dry.  Before we went Scott helped Pat re-pot a couple of plants that had outgrown their containers into two ceramic containers we had and she is going to leave them out on the back porch for awhile.

Thank you all for the special Anniversary wishes and the birthday greetings for Pat.  Today is the actual day and she is now the same age as I am although I am about 4 1/2 months older than she is.

Hal, I agree that when we get to the bottom line it is the family that is important and not the things that we have.  Hope the Instacart works out well for you.

June, I wouldn't enjoy a cold shower nor do I want the water to be too hot.  However, glad you enjoyed your cold shower.

JaneS, I hope your journal project goes well for you.  To me it would just be adding one more thing I would have to do.  :)  I hope you have a large book to write in as you sure do a lot of things everyday.

Jenny, I liked the "Old People Pride piece you posted.  I think it captures our generation very well.  I hope your sons are safely in Denver by the time you read this.  At least I see one of them as arrived.

Gloria, I remember years ago that Pat had shots in her back and they hit the spinal cord and caused a tremendous headache.  She was flying to Kansas City the next day so they injected I think it was some blood into the spinal cord and it helped the headache.  It is unfortunate you can't find comfort in some position.  I also hope we hear something from or about Joan soon.

deAngel, it almost sounds like the rehab facility was running up the bill by sending home all of that equipment that you apparently did not need but that they knew Medicare would approve.

Amy, I bet you kept your eyes out for that mother bear, which was probably somewhere close by.  Like Jane you would need a big book also to keep track of all the things you do on a daily basis.  Do you find your sewing restful?

This Is How Advertisers Trick Us

A deodorant makes fruit shiny
Fruit always shines in advertising. No special tools are required â€" only a deodorant spray to add shine to fruit. Some food stylists also use hairspray.

Engine oil instead of maple syrup
Pancakes absorb real syrup too quickly to photograph, so photographers replace it with engine oil. Another trick is to cover pancakes with a water-repellent spray that creates a protective layer.

Good morning everyone, the humidity is gone for now and it is a bright sunny morning. I just might spend most of the afternoon outside enjoying this weather.

GLORIA de  so far I can still bend over as long as I am holding onto something solid with one hand. I am glad there is a walk in shower here but at times I would enjoy soaking in a tub.

JUNE  when I see some of the others here who are in their mid 90's I feel useless. They have more energy than I do. Then I see some younger than me who are worse than I am. I think frame of mind has a lot to do with it. I know I  do what I can, some days more than others. The pain pill I have is a narcotic and I am very careful how I take them. I do not want to become one of those who overdose on them.  No matter how hurting I am I will never take more than allowed.

AMY  we had thunderstorms in the forecast for early evening and we got a brief shower but just enough to get rid of the humidity. What did you do with all those strawberries besides eating some now?

LLOYD  my daughter has said the temperature in Arizona where they are  was over 100°. My SIL likes it but she does not. The swamp cooler helps but she really would prefer an AC.

AMY  you need that day of rest today. Wish I had just a bit of your get up and go.

SHIRLEY  I think you and me are the only ones who prefer winter to summer.

LARRY  years ago an orthopedic doctor talked surgery when I first went to him and he had not even seen an xray. Then he gave me shots in my back that never helped. Since the one I have been going to specializes in pain I thought he would be better. Only thing he did was mess up my left leg. No more seeing him now.

LLOYD  nothing in any food commercials is as it looks. They like to make the food look like you cannot wait to get some and enjoy but what they snow is not food.

I seem to have caught a summer cold so I'm goofing off for a couple of days!  I have some natural meds to take and I think they are beginning to help.  My eyes itch and burn.  My throat is sore and I have to be constantly chasing my nose.

At least the weather is cooperating.  It's cooler and less humid and my house has stayed cool.  I slept pretty well last night and that's probably part of the reason I'm feeling a bit better today.  If I don't feel considerably better by Tuesday, Ill probably call off work.

Now I'm going to go back and "flop".

Good MOrning Everyone!

well I am back from church.  No message, just updates on some of church's mission work and pass the plate for a special collection for one of the missions.

Larry, instacart, well they live up to their word, delivery in less than an hour.  BUT, groceries are at least 10% higher, add on for the shopper and then on top of that a delivery fee, mine was waived because first time user.  And I added on a small tip for the delivery person.  I had two heavy items, case of water and some soft drinks which he took into the kitchen for me.  I more than likely want use it again, to pricy.  And curb side will do me, my granddaughters use WalMart and HEB (local chain) and both offer curbside.  I used WalMart the other day and everything went smoothly and I only had a 10 minute drive.  But I can see where Instrcart would be great for someone in the middle of preparation or some other chore and needed an item may want to order through them.   They also offer a yearly deal 149.00 for unlimited deliveries, but you still have to pay the shopper.

I am hungry so off to fix me a snack.  Everyone have a great day.

Again I didn't listen to me... took one look at the sky and thought I had better cut the grass ,so that job is done. Tomorrow I will be busy and didn't know if I could find time to cut it plus they are calling for rain.

Jane, I sure hope you feel better and soon, if the cold persists get to your Dr..you sure don't need pneumonia!

Shirley, there is a 3 yr old rescue dog where my son got his and if I didn't have enough on my hands at the moment I would get her!! She is white with a few black spots on her bum  and she is deaf but goes by hand signals.I know I shouldn't look in those sights either but....

I was in earlier, read the posts, and thought I had replied, but No, nothing from me. My age is showing for sure.

Gloria, I too stopped taking that pain medicine as soon as they stopped scraping my injury. But kept taking the extra strength tylenol. Now the sores are all healed up so I don't need anything.

Lloyd, beautiful horses.  You are a fortunate man...nice family and a nice farm.

Gloria, I just called Doris, we haven't visited for quite a while & always spend half the time giggling at each other.  She keeps busy, right now is babysitting her gr-daughter's big cat.

Enjoyed the photos, Lloyd.... that isn't one of your Percheron's or Belgian horses, is it?  Cute girl & you are looking good.  Thanks for posting, Jeanne Lee.

Hal, a while back you mentioned "family is what counts".... and so nice to hear others saying, exactly how I feel.  We are all fortunate to have kids that care.  My mother used to say that "we have to teach kids how to love".... and guess we did our job, huh?

Joan, hope you are getting stronger every day, the move had to be difficult getting used to everything.  I had a friend that moved & traveled with her husband so often that one day when waking, she said she lay there trying to remember where her coffee pot was.  Had to first figure where in the world they were (he was an engineer sent to other countries all the time)... but her coffee habit never changed, our brains don't like so many changes all at once.  Hang in there.... check in with us when you can.

Larry, I'm with you about a shower "not too hot or cold".  Those hot mineral springs in CO felt like my skin was going to peel right off... and my old heart all but stops with a cold shower.  I do know that when the heat starts making my head fuzzy I can kick the feeling by putting my feet in cold water.  We have a black slate entry hall and that floor is always cold, so I walk my bare feet down that hall often in the summer.

Amy, get the feeling your heart is already waiting for that "pup" to walk in.... Somehow we find time to care for one more and the joy that comes back from these critters is worth every minute of the time.

We have a solid week of near 100° temps so I will be inside as much as possible.  Wishing summer away........

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're off and running this morning.  My cleaning dynamo will be here at 10.  I have a dentist appt. this morning and sometime, the young fella who is fixing some stuff will be by to finish up one of the jobs.  Then I have to take Mickie to the vet this afternoon for her annual checkup.  Busy day!

It's been good weather for sleeping the last couple of nights...temps in the high 50s and no humidity.  I can take the hot summer days if the nights cool off.

Last night, just as we we were going to be at about 11, some brainless idiot began setting off fireworks.  The dogs were already on the bed and I was getting ready.  The first thing I knew both of them were right at my feet in the bathroom.  I went to the window and tried to wait it out and they kept coming at about 30 second intervals.  I got ver frustrated and after one went off, I forgot and called out, "It's 11 o'clock at night for pity sake".

It was uncanny!  He must have heard me because there were no more fireworks.  I can understand the holiday celebrations and I'll go along with them but what are they celebrating now!  And what has he been celebrating all week!  And doesn't he have any sense?  If it was who I think it was, his sense is in a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Anyway, he stopped!

I wish you all a perfect day filled with the love of God and of your friends, family and neighbors!

Good morning everyone, slept great last night woke early and feel more rested than I have in a long time. Glad I did, have a grocery order due between 7-9 this morning. Last time it was delivered before 7.

JANE  hope you feel better this morning. Summer colds are hard to get rid of it seems. Could not have asked for better weather this week end here.

HAL  PeaPod that delivers groceries and a Pod Pass for $99 a year. At times they give a free pass for 6 months on orders over $100. Does not take much to add up to that amount. I use it when I have a lot of heavy things like the Ensure and bulky paper goods. I get a case of the ensure and cannot ask my CNA to get that for me. They bring the groceries into the kitchen and ask that I check to make sure every thing is there and then have me sign. No tipping allowed for the driver/delivery person.

JEANNE LEE  thanks for the links to Lloyd's photos.

LLOYD beautiful horses. Who is the girl on the horse? Pretty girl.

AMY  so you are ahead on cutting the grass. Hope you can take it easier today.

JUNE  I cannot take Tylenol, does not agree with me. Too much of it can cause stomach trouble so I hope you eat something before taking any.

SHIRLEY  I know I should call Doris but I really do not like talking on the phone, never did like it except for 2 people, my daughter and late sis in law. She was a wonderful person and full of fun.

JANE  when I was living at my son's house someone on the other side of the tive would start fireworks after midnight, that would keep up about a week. Not rockets but really loud ones.

Good morning everyone...

Rained during the night and it looks as if it will rain some more.
I also have a busy day, have my list all ready but have to wait on VON then can go to town and finish up . Some I can do on the phone at home. All three dogs have their nails clipped so that is done for another two weeks.

Jane, hope you're feeling much better today. Hope the check up for Mickie goes well.

Gloria, for some reason sleep eluded me again and I heard the rain start at 12.20 am  but think I finally nodded off around 1 am.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone.

Lloyd I am sure you know it, but Palomino is color and not a breed.  Way back the association used to be in Mineral Wells Texas.  My hometown.  Just a skip from my Grandfaters little place.  It was a sight to behold when they got all decked out in their silver saddles and bridles and all.

I too have lots to do.  Need to go to bank, drug store to get some script filled for my upcoming dental work and grocery store for something to eat that is soft and mushy. And need to water today, my water day.  So better get started, coffee first, if anyone cares for a cup.

Hall a point well taken on the horses. I some times do not think well. I see why you Have to go to bank before going to the drugstore. (for meds.) I am glad I am a vet and you tax paying folks that make enough $$$ to pay tax do so VA has my meds. maybe  some day if cow prices stay up good I will make enough $$$ to pay income tax and help others as well. hope I never messed up to bad else wise. Have a great day.

Hi everyone.  We are to have an overcast day with the temperatures around 90 degrees and a 50% change of rain later this afternoon.  The only thing I have planned to do today is a quick trip to Costco to fill the car with gas and to buy two or three items in the store.

Lloyd, I think staging food for photographs is almost an art form.  We sure wouldn't want to eat the food that has been used in that photo shoot.

Gloria, hope you were able to enjoy a lot of time outside yesterday.  It was way to hot here to stay outside any longer than necessary.  Is there any reason your daughter couldn't have A/C in their home?  Perhaps a lack of humidity would be a factor as it is so dry there.

JaneS, sorry to see that you have a summer cold.  I hope the meds will soon have the cold licked although know that colds have to run their course.  It doesn't sounds like you will be taking things too easily today with all that is on your schedule.  Hope you are feeling better today.

Hal, as I have said previously, we really like and appreciate the online grocery shopping.  With Walmart you can also get some items in the pharmacy such as the energy drinks and othere OTC items.

Lloyd, it looks like the horse loves you too.  How many horses do you have?

Shirley, several years ago I cound I really couldn't tolerate a hot tub as would immediately get weak.  I have a good friend who is Swedish in heritage and he and his wife have a Sauna in their home.  Stay cool.

Mercy, it is enough to make a grown woman spit!! We went into town to make an appointment for the holder monitor only to be told July 31st was the earliest but if we went across to the hospital ,they would put one on. Well the lady came out and said their computer didn't "talk" with the cardiologist in the city computer..I said to send the information across to the other one with the long wait and they could send it.......nope....can't do that either!! So off to the city we go on Thur for the monitor.  ok.....done sputtering now  :tickedoff:

Lloyd, I had a Palomino Quarter horse along with a bay both mares had white blazes down  their nose. and a grey Arabian gelding, Bred the two Quarter horses with a Belgian stud and had a pair of nice colts.

Better get back to work..tea is done.

Janie, you really do have a busy day planned. I hope all goes well with all your endeavors. I'm doing the usual..nothing. I did get out for fresh air and sunshine, and sat in one of our metal gliders and read for about an hour and enjoyed life. The glider gives the legs exercise too. We ,too , still have some firework nuts doing their thing, they make my body jump, so I do have good reflexes. And my temper is still active too.

Gloria, now that the leg sores are healed I don't use any tylenol…no pain, but it never bothered my stomach. I also talked my doctor into eliminating a statin drug I was taking, and told her I had heard bad reports on metoprolol, so she has cut that back, and my blood test showed I don't need four salt tablets a day…down to two. So I found it is wise to investigate what we are given and for how long, and why. I'm learning more about the healing power of prayer. a great book.."Silent Takeover", byJacquelyn Sheppard.

Hal, soft and mushy..breakfast, cream of wheat, Lunch cottage cheese, v-8 juice, apple sauce, chicken soup..just the broth if necessary. Supper, mashed potatoes  and gravy, (lots of both) Gravy gives you protein without having to chew, as you heal corned beef or roast beef hash. Both very tasty in my opinion..lots more v-8 juice and fruit juices, laced with a little vodka or whatever…..I go for brandy. Regards from Dr. June.

Lloyd:  Like the term "Weather Guesser".  You have some beautiful horses and one happy girl !

Every day for a while, heat will be in the 90's and we are running the A/C during the day but it is so nice and cool in the morning and evening.  My permanent driver's license arrived today and it is really odd.  The state is bragging about the "new look" which is so light a person can barely see a face and certainly not the color of their eyes.  Anything to change and really up the price - Don told me his mother sent 25 cents in the mail for her driver's license in Duluth, Minnesota (years ago).

Joan:  I can't find the latest information on you.  Holding you in thoughts and prayers.

Tomorrow is the quilt group here and I need to think of what to serve.  My cousin and husband were here and drove home to Minnesota.  We have a quiet time here and just checking on friends who need some extra hands for the next few months.  Today was a lazy day and it sure felt good.

Just a quick note to tell Everyfriend I have been in in ICU at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alalabama since a week ago Saturday.using a Cpap mask.  Today I had a thorostensis and they drew two liters of fluid off my left lung.  They hope then I can again use regular oxygen.  I will have to go to a rehab facility if I ever get out of here, and then have home health care.  Prayers would be appreciated.  I miss you all.

Joan, prayers going your way always!!! We miss you here and hope you get well soon.

Good Morning Everyfriend!

LLOYD, good luck with your testing today.

JOANIE, if you look in we are all praying for you.

Our family had a setback yesterday.  My favorite brother was admitted to the hospital at 4 a.m. yesterday morning with respiratory and heart problems probably due to medication mix ups.  We could use some extra prayers for Jim.

Granddaughter Natalie and her husband will be arriving in town sometime today.  They are coming for her friend's wedding this coming Saturday.  She is in the wedding so I probably won't see much of her but she did promise that we'd get together.  I'm looking forward to that.

I'll be off to man my counter at WM this morning. Wish me smiles!  I sure could use some today.  I wish you all a good day!

Good morning everyone..

Another hot humid day here and I am enjoying a photo of snow by Beverly......so cool looking. Wonder if I will be saying that when I am waltzing with the snow blower?

Appointments all made yesterday so that job is done for now. Today I hope to get up close and personal with the weeds in the garden. I had a bench/stool that I can kneel on and that makes the job much easier.

Jane, prayers going for Jim, can he get his meds in blister packs? I find that much easier to do know that hubby takes over 11 pills  May you have nothing but smiles through your till and maybe even a hug or two.

Lloyd, good luck with your testing, we all know you have a heart and a kind one at that.

Have a great day everyone..

Good morning  everyone, it is raining again. Might have a thunderstorm later.

JOAN  I pray that you are soon back to your new home and feeling better than you do now.

LLOYD  with a big family I would never be able to tell you how much of a cousin any one was. I know my siblings and nieces and nephews but when it comes to cousins I am lost. You are better explaining than I would be.

LARRY  when my SIL gets the rest of the sp;ar panels up and the windmill set up they then will have enough electricity for am AC. Right now they have a generator to have

Not much to say today and have to get myself moving around.

Hi everyone. We will have another day like yesterday, i.e. overcast with possibility of rain this afternoon.  We will get to around 90 degrees again today.

Yesterday we did get some nice rain.  I did get over to Costco yesterday morning and it was a great morning to go as it was relatively cool and there were few people there, which seems to be an oddity.  I did get one of their rotisserie chickens, which we will have for our dinner tonight. I have no definite plans for today and expect to stay home all day.

Joan, getting all of that fluid off will surely help you begin to feel better.  I know, based on my experience many years ago, that getting that fluid off is not a fun procedure but is worth the pain when you begin to feel better.  You have been and certainly will continue to be in my prayers.

Lloyd, wouldn't training mules be a little risky for you.  You sure don't need anymore accidents.  It looks like the two horses you have must be very gentle.

Amy, don't blame you for being upset about the halter monitor situation.  It sounds like the lady just couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone and call the doctor's office for the order to be faxed.  Do you have tea everyday?  We have watched a lot of shows set in England and having tea seems to be very common.

June, I have always like gliders and swings.  We thought about having a swing installed on our back porch but didn't follow thru and knew it wouldn't be used much. Sometime I think when doctors see your medicines they must think if it isn't broke don't rock the boat and seldom remove a medicine for us but often just add another.

Carol, you and your husband are obviously very caring people keeping an eye out for neighbors and friends who need some assistance.

Jane, I do hope your brother quickly overcomes the medical problems.  What type of medication mixups are you indicating?  I hope you have gotten many smiles at your counter today.

Amy, I have one of those little garden benches and they are helpful.  However, now it is difficult to get up and down from it and move it around.

Gloria, your daugher and SIL having their own solar panels should work well where they live as I am sure they get a lot of sun.  Do they have electrical service from a power company or are they dependent on their generator for the electricity?

Lloyd, I pray you are given good news on your heart testing, I know you have a kind heart, so may God keep it healthy.

Janie, I am praying for Jim as he has to go through the testing on his heart condition, I do hope it was a medication mixup that can be easily cared for.

Larry, when I see my doctor, I tell her what I think and let her take it from there. For instance, I told her I would like to know if all the meds I am taking are still necessary? For years I have been taking the same thing over and over and over, and I would like a blood test made to see where it is still necessary. As a result, one statin medicine was eliminated, one blood pressure med was cut back in strength, and salt tablets were decreased to half of what Had all ready been decreased. I started out with four a day now it is down to two. I don't think we should give our Drs. credit for knowing everything. And I have been doing fine.

I have a meeting to attend at 10 a.m, another at two p.m. and balance and mobility at 2:45. I woke up at four a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep, so this day will be done on a wing and a prayer.

I hope and pray our Bis is feeling much much better having had all the liquid removed from around her heart and lungs. May each day give her improvement.

Good afternoon, very hot and humid.  Did rain a little during the night.  Right now I am waiting for my Friend Kathleen, she called this morning and said she would be out  in about and hour.  she live up the Island.

She said put the coffee on, as she was bringing KFC.  I like their coleslaw very much.  Have to go make coffee.

Prays to Joan, and those in need.

Since I gave up my car and depend on other people for my grocery shopping, and the cooking I do is quite limited, I have been getting Meals-on-Wheels Monday through Friday for quite a while.

Once a month a menu is supplied, listing what to expect each day.  I usually glance over it and once in a while check to see what's coming the next day or two.

Yesterday I didn't check the menu, and had what I thought was a piece of fish in some kind of sauce, to which I added some tartar sauce, with rice and brussel sprouts,.  Then today a piece of chicken in a sauce of some kind with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables.

Just a few minutes ago I picked up the menu to see what the rest of the week will bring and happened to look at yesterday and today.  Monday June 10 was chicken with rice and brussel sprouts and Tuesday June 11 was fish with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables.   :2funny:

I don't know if that says everything they provide tastes the same or if it means I've completely lost my sense of taste!   ;D

Jeanne Lee, I have heard several complaints about meals on wheels, but when a person is stuck at home,no shopping available, I guess it is better than nothing. I hope it is nourishing. Lately, there is very little that appeals to me, so I just eat because I have to.

June, I find that I can go a long while without getting hungry, therefore, I eat when I think I should, rather than at regular times.  It was after 7 pm and Tom had not mentioned what he was going to eat, so I just waited.  If I hadn't heard from him by 8 pm I was going to make myself a radish sandwich (a holdover from Depression days).  I like the crunch and while it isn't too nourishing, it isn't bad for me.  Anyway, Tom came up shortly and asked if I wanted a hamburger (we buy patties in a 4-pack).  That sounded good but he came in a few minutes later and told me we were out of hamburgers, would I like a hot dog.  So I did have my supper at 8 pm.  When/if Tom meets someone for lunch, I know my supper will be something I fix and it might be a sandwich or soup.

The Weather Channel is predicting a storm here in the morning.  A bad one.  I don't have anywhere to go and I think Tom does not.  I also noticed we'd have rain on Sunday and that is the day we are having a party to celebrate Tom's 60th birthday.  We'll play that by ear.

Today has been lovely, although I have had the a/c working.

Mary Ann, I am not hungry but I know I have to eat. I went downstairs for lunch and had a huge one. Beef barley soup, a baked potato covered with chili, green onions, olives, sour cream chopped tomato, and for dessert whipped jello. Had a nice nap following that, then back downstairs for balance and mobility exercises. Now it is time to eat.......I have some cottage cheese, pickled beets with green beans and a hard boiled egg, along with some ritz crackers...all stuff that needs to be used. Plenty of options for dessert.

I am really tired by the end of the day, so after I eat I will get ready for bed and just lay back and read. I find t.v. so dull I rarely turn that on, but I still enjoy computer games, like Free Cell and various versions of solitaire. And eventually my last meds will be delivered and I will be off to dreamland. Hope you have a perfect night my dear.

Good morning Everyfriend!  Another cool, good-for-sleeping night.  They have been going down into the 702 and that's good.

I had a long text from my niece and another from my sister late last night.  They have removed a lot of excess fluids and are will be treating some things today.  Hopefully, the news will be better as the day wears on.

I hope the day is full of good news on all fronts but I'm thinking it probably won't be.  I'm in a bit of a dither and it's taking everything I have mentally, emotionally, financially and physically.  I'll be back when I can.  If you've a mind, I could use a few prayers, too.

Good morning everyone..

Another hot humid day here.we had some rain over night by the looks of the patio.

I did manage to get some weeds pulled but oh my there is a lot more to do. Need to pick up dog food and milk today then home to wait for physio to come.

Larry, I used to drink coffee but now it just doesn't agree with me so I drink tea. Tetley was my choice of tea till they cut back on the amount of tea in the bag so now I drink King Cole  which is a  down east tea.

Jane, hugs and prayers going your way.

Lloyd good luck on the test today.

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyone!

Well Lloyd, just well.  I hope you get your cukes, but I doubt it.

Janie, wish there was something I could do to make everything right, but me personally nothing I can do, but I know someone who can and I will be talking to him today to help you solve your problem.  There are no secrets from him and he knows how to solve any problem, the only problem, sometimes we don't like his solution.  But believe me it is the best solution.  Now I will hush.

Amy, never heard of that tea.  My wife still gets the English tea from Amazon and it makes good iced tea as well as hot.  Restaurant iced tea, anymore, is like drinking water, not a lot of flavor and they charge an arm and leg for it.  So I now order just plain water or lemonade.

Coffee is ready, cup for anyone who wants one, I am also going to fix me an English muffin with my little egg cooker to put on it.  Tisie you want one?

Hi everyone. We start our day here sunny and clear skies.  It will be in the 90's this afternoon.  We had a very brief rain shower late yesterday afternoon.  I expect to stay home again today.  I will get things ready for a salad for our dinner with Scott and Jennifer.  They are going to fix the dinner for us.  Pat will go this morning to her crafts group at Church.

Yesterday afternoon after the rain stopped I checked the mailbox and as I left the house I saw this beautiful rainbow in the sky so took a picture of it.  Here is a link if you are interested.  This is looking up our street from my front porch:  https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipMtoDmq_kPQjtQT5v6EjFYHGjnPMev1lrcglUuY

June, glad you asked your doctor about reducing your medicines and were able to get several reduced.  That sounded like a pretty full schedule for you yesterday.

deAngel, we have always liked KFC coleslaw.  However, Pat is not fond of their fried chicken so we seldom go there to eat.  She prefers Bojangles.  Nice of your friend to come and share lunch with you.

Jeanne, do you get good meals with the Meals on Wheels.  Where my folks lived they had great meals at their Senior Center and those were the same meals sent our for Meals on Wheels.  We went with them numerous time when we were visiting and then while we were staying at their home for the nine months.  However, I saw the Wheels on Meals served in the County where we moved from in Georgia and they were not pleasing to look at and mediocre in taste.  They were prepared by the prisoners at the county jail.

Mary Ann, Pat still sees we have tasty food but now it is usually a meet and a vegetable and perhaps a salad.  I have stopped having something for dessert on hand as will eat it if it is here.  My appetite is nothing like it used to be .  Sure hope you don't get that predicted bad storm this morning.

Jane, your brother has to feel better with the fluid removed and hope he will soon be feeling much better and able to return home.  I find it helps me not to worry about things that might be because very often it doesn't turn out the way I thought and if it isn't good I can deal with things then.  I will certainly include you in my prayers.

Lloyd, the last few stress tests I have had done were chemical ones and certainly better than the treadmill tests.  They have improved the chemical stress tests and the sick feeling you get doesn't last very long.

Amy, they had a report on the news a couple of nights ago about the health benefits of drinking coffee regardless of whether it is regular or decaf.  I am still not going to drink it.  I like tea but seldom have it either. I have never heard of King Cole tea.

Hal, I agree with your comments about the power of prayer.  We used to drink a lot of ice tea but not much anymore.  Pat will sometimes order it out but I usually will just order water.

Thanks for the prayers and the advice.

Good morning everyone, noisy day here, landscapers are here and they do make a lot of noise with mowers and trimmers and blowers. The start at 7am on the dot. Looks like we are in for soupy humidity for a couple more days with thunderstorms in the forecast both days. Oh well it is summer in southern New England.
When my daughter and I were on Skype yesterday my oldest grandson texted her that he could see smoke and some flames from a fire. and he sent her an email of what he could see. She told him to start packing. Just before we signed off he texted her again to say he drove in that area and  could see the firefighters and trucks there and they got it out. Thank God. Someone closer must have called them right away and they got it before it could really get going. He has worked hard to save to buy his own home and now he is working for all the material to fix it up the way he wants it.

JANE  I did not mention it yesterday but I have added Jim to my prayers. I remember when you asked before when he was bad and those prayers were answered. They will be again  this time.

LARRY  like you I do not think I will head outside for fresh air and a walk today. When I went out yesterday it was like walking into a steam room.  The area where my daughter and SIL now live is off the grid. Everyone there is self sufficient. They have 2 generators and now realize they need a bigger more powerful one. They have the big gas cylinders that he gets filled every time the go into town. Neighbors have been talking about getting the huge tanks installed. If several go into it together the price goes down. Then the gas company would go out to fill them all on the same time. That is what they did with the wells. Several got together and had them drilled at the same time. Saved the driller the trouble of coming out there many different times. Saved all of them several hundred dollars. Would have taken hi more than an hour to get out there. One of the men who live there told my SIL to let him know when he is ready to put up the solar panels. That is what he used to do before he retired. That is another thing they love out there, neighbors always willing to help one another.

JUNE  like you I keep asking if I can drop one of my meds. When I see her in a couple of weeks I am going to ask about the pain pills. I have had the same one for 4 years now and they do not work like they used to. I go for my bloodwork next week and hope the cholesterol is good, I would like getting rid of that one.

GLORIA de  yesterday I know it had rained overnight because every thing was wet. Did not know till I saw the local weather that is was quite a storm. Some areas had over 11/2 inches of rain. I slept through it.

JEANNE LEE  one of my neighbors up on this floor gave me a couple of the Meals on Wheels dinners she got to show me what they were like. First one was chicken in gravy and mixed vegetable. The chicken was those pressed cubes and it was gray in color and so was the gravy, The other was meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I tried to eat both of them but the taste and smell turned my stomach.

MARY ANN  I shut my AC off in the morning when I get up and open the bedroom window for a couple of hours to get a bit of fresh air in. In this humid weather I have the AC running about 21 or 22 hours at a time. Hate to think what my next electric bill will be.

JANE  hope thing settle down for you soon. I know you love and worry about family and friends and you need all the prayers you can get. You and the rest of the regulars here in the SS are always in my prayers.

LLOYD hope you find those cucumbers.

AMY  do you ever have a day where you just rest and do no work at all? Bet you would not know what to do if you did have a day like that.

HAL  I could go for another cup of coffee if you have any left.

LARRY  that link did not work for me I do have a google account but I got error 404 not found in this server.

Just looked out and it is raining again.

Janie, prayers have been said dear one. God be with you.

lloyd, Good News…you have a heart. In more ways than one. You have a heart for those in need besides the one that keeps you breathing.

Hal, your message to Janie is one we can all use. Thank you my friend.

Larry, I am a stubborn old woman, but sometimes it pays off.

Gloria, I find my computer is very good at telling me what my medications consist of and much more good information on them. That is why I got my metoprolol reduced in the amount I was taking. and they had me on two B.P. meeds at the same time of day, no wonder I would feel weak and short of breath. I would LOVE to share your rain.

Time to get dressed and get downstairs for 10 o'clock Bible study.

Larry, your  to the rainbow photo not working, so if you can email me the picture I'll be glad to post a link in all the topics  where you've included it.

Meals on Wheels is "OK".  Here in my county it is a small portion of meat (chicken, pork, ground beef, fish, mac & cheese, baked egg) potatoes (white baked, white mashed, sweet potato pieces) or rice, and a vegetable.  It also includes a 1/2 pint of milk and about 1/2 up of fruit or pudding or a couple of cookies.  What you get and the quality of it depends on what state and what county is involved - some places better than others.  No payment is required although $2 a meal is suggested.

Our storm this morning did not produce much thunder and/or lightning but a fair amount of water.  Anyway, I don't have to water my outside plants.

It just occurred to me that I let the cat out on the deck and he's still there - about a half hour later.  I'll try to remember to rescue him.  He's been very good when he scoots out the front door and after a few minutes I open the door and he comes right in.

Tom had to let a friend's dog out earlier, so I went with him and we ate lunch at Russ's, a very conservative restaurant.  One thing I like about the place is that I can order a sandwich and it's a sandwich without all of the fancy extras that make the sandwich so big that I can't get it in my mouth.  Also, fries are .99 extra and i usually ask for NO fries and some restaurants bring them anyway then they have to throw them away.  If I don't order them I don't get them!  Tom had a delicious looking salad.  Because of my shoulder, I have a hard time eating food at a table so usually order a sandwich.

The sun is trying to shine.  Now I'll let the cat inside.

Mary Ann:  What is wrong with your shoulder?  My cousin & husband were just here visiting and they drove back to Minnesota where he will now have a shoulder transplant.  I cannot imagine the recovery time and the surgery.  I do hope you can alleviate the pain some other way.  By the way, he had an accident at work (working at age 78) when the lights were turned off early and he walked into a hazard.

It is the same temp outside as inside but someone is mowing grass and we shut the door.  Rain would be welcome.  The last fire started by two hikers in an area and the hikers are gone. One brother to me is a volunteer fireman and he was really busy last year even though he doesn't always man a hose but they worked hours just to save one house.

Jane:  Prayers for Jim.  Hugs for you too.

Don bought a dry package of vegetable soup mix and I have that going in a crock pot adding  fresh veggies and  a half pound of cooked ground turkey.

I didn't realize meals-on-wheels was free - what a great way for participants to get some nutrition, especially since it is difficult to shop and the prices keep going up and up.  Shame on the MOW's where they are tasteless and awful -  someone could change that quickly and they should.

Carol, I don't know what the situation is with free or payments for Meals on Wheels in other areas.  That's what it is in my county.  And the quality and taste situation also varies from place to place.  It may very well be more tasteful here than I know, if my taste is failing.  Also, they need to keep things somewhat low sodium since they are dealing with people under doctors' care and sodium content can be very important.

Carol, I have arthritis in my right shoulder along with rotator cuff problem.  I am 93 years old and I had it checked when I was 90 and the orthopedic surgeon said at the time that because of my age, he did not recommend surgery.  I cannot reach things on the second shelf of a cupboard with my right arm; I can get there with my left arm if the object is at the front of the shelf.  I have to use my left arm to put anything in the microwave and getting it out is worse, but I brave it.  I have heard of shoulder replacement, but I'm not about to have surgery at my age.  I take a pain pill - Arthritis 650 - that was recommended by my PCP and that helps. Thanks for asking.

Gloria Z had shoulder surgery a few years ago and I think she is not back to normal yet, maybe never will be.   I'll live with the ailment, but it is a great inconvenience.  The pain is not unbearable, but is always noticeable.  I think the recovery time is many years.

We are off to the city to get a Holder monitor put on hubby..will do a few things  while there and head home.

Gloria, wonder what it would be like to have nothing to do????

Mary Ann my hubby asked if he could have surgery on his shoulders and the Dr. said it would be like sewing up butter . So no surgery.

Jane, I do hope you have head good news about Jim. Prayers going your way for all.

Jeanne Lee my friend used to get Meals on Wheels and he ended up calling them Trash For Cash as you couldn't tell what it was on the plate! He did have a way with words.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The news of Jim is good.  After they drained all the excess water and found a large inflammation, they were able to cauterize it and his condition improved to such a point that they sent him home.  I'm not sure that was a good idea but we shall see.

Here on the home front, I've developed my own emergence.  I was scheduled to have two teeth removed in August.  Well, last night that became a bit of an emergence.  One of the lost it's crown and part of the tooth last night.  I have to call the dentist as soon as they're in this morning an see what can be done.

I heard my mother say often, "If it isn't one thing, it's another!"  I guess this is "another".  At least it's something that I can deal with.

I hope you all have a good day today.  We're expecting a bit of rain this afternoon.  But maybe if it all comes down in buckets, the humidity will be lower when it's finished.

Hi everyone. We had a very rainy evening last night with a lot of lightning and thunder.  Today we are to be sunny all day with little to any chance of rain.  We had an enjoyable evening with Scott and Jennifer and Scott fixed his Taco Pie and I had put together the salad earlier in the day. Today I will pick up my friend and we will go to coffee.  After I take him home I plan on stopping at Walmart to pick up medicine for Pat.  I do not plan on attending the Wisdom group as just don't have the energy.  I expect the rest of the day to be quiet.

I should know better than link from my Google Photo Account.  I just put it up on my Facebook account so let's try this link:  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156388695259377&set=a.10150171369334377.354327.776879376&type=3

JaneS, just remember that the "what IS" will also pass.  Nice to see your good news concerning your brother.  Sorry to read about your tooth problem.

Gloria, this is likely the day our lawn people will be here and there is noise in  almost all day long with three visits to each yard tomorrow to mow trim and blow off the grass from the cement areas.  So glad you had good news on the fire situation with your grandson.  It is very frightening out that way or where ever those wild fires are burning.    It sounds like getting the big propane tanks would be a good thing.  My folks used one on the farm for a long time. It sounds like they have great neighbors.

June, nothing wrong with being stubborn.  After all it is your life and your right to live it the way you want and as you are able.

Jeanne, thanks for the offer to post and I may take you up on it if my posting to Facebook doesn't work for others.  I am glad you find your Meals on Wheels edible.

Mary Ann, the big rain we had last evening allowed me to turn off my sprinkler system, which would have  watered the yard today.  I have only had to use the sprinkler system two or three days this year, which sure saves on the water bill.  Russ's sounds like a good place to eat.  I always try to order something other than fries as don't need to be eating friend food.  We have two or three in our Sunday School class who had shoulder surgery and they have had to have it redone as it didn't work the first time.

Lloyd, glad you located your cucumbers. Hope your headache has lessened.  Sorry you had a bad night last night.  Hope you can get some needed rest today.

Amy, at least wearing a Holder monitor is painless.  For how long does he have to wear it?

The more I hear about shoulder surgery, the more convinced I am that I won't have it done.  Of course, the doctor said he wouldn't recommend it at my age (90 at the time).  I love Amy's description of the surgery - "like sewing up butter".

Jane, I hope you can get your tooth taken care of immediately.  I'm glad your BIL is better.

Our temperature is only 74-75 but the humidity is bad.  We never did get the storms that were predicted (so, what else is new?) and the rain measured about a half inch.  So much for storms.  Today looks bright, but oh, the humidity.

Larry, you maybe should take up Jeanne Lee's offer to fix your link.  Those on Google and/or Facebook can see your scene, others cannot.

Mary Ann

I'm NOT on facebook and I'll never go back on.  I got hacked and that was pretty scary.  So put me down as one who can't view your...whatever it is.

I have an appt. on Monday at 7:30 to have the rest of my tooth and one other one extracted.  I'm keeping my mouth closed to air, avoiding extremely cold and extremely hot liquids and trying to do all my chewing on the other side.  I don't want it to get painful before I see the dentist.

I made egg salad yesterday.  I must have known I'd be looking for soft food to eat today.  Oh well...

Good morning everyone. we sure got rain yesterday along with the thunderstorms. Some trees down and flooding. Once again this area of the state did not get the worse of it. Cut my daughter off on skype becase the thunder started rolling in. Hope we get to chat this afternoon.

MARY ANN  like you with my shoulders I cannot even cut us meat in my plate. No strength in either one anymore. There is a cookout here later this month but I did not sign up. I would not want to try to cut the chicken up so I can eat it so will pass this year. I have arthritis in left shoulder and that limints what I can do.

CAROL  I had surgery to replace my right shoulder and the recovery was not bad. Of course there was PT after and that was done at home. The 2 PY's I had were great and they made every thing fun. I almost had the left one done till my insurance dropped the group and I could not afford what I would have had to pay. Of course there are a lot of things that I can no longer do with my right arm.

JANE  I have a piece of tooth coming up from the last tooth that was extracted and a lunp on the gum near it, one reason I have not yet made an appointment for dentures. I will wait till I see the dentist in a couple of weeks.

LARRY  have to sign into Facebook and I cannot do that. I know my daughter and SIL love where they now live and looks like all the neighbors do, too. They all have 40 acres so no one is that close together like in San Diego.

Thanks, Patricia, for opening Larry's link here too; I was going to suggest people go to Norm's Bait & Tackle where you did it too.  I'm happy we have so many talented people here who can help others.

Jane, I'm not on Facebook or Google so that keeps me out of a lot of places - out of some trouble, too, I'll bet.

With my shoulders, I can reach OK with my left hand and arm, but I am not as confident with that arm as my right.  The biggest problem I have is taking things from the microwave.  I can put things in by putting the food dish in, then putting on a cover, but when I want to take it out, I need two hands.  I get it started with my left hand, then reach up as far as I can with my right hand and I manage OK.  Since I don't do the cooking, I don't get into too much trouble that way.

It is hard to cut meat for me too, Gloria, and when I go out to eat, I try to get a sandwich but if I get a meal, I usually eat half of it, then bring the rest home.  At home, I eat mostly in the computer room using my lap as a table so I finish the meal here.  Necessity is the mother of invention, isn't it???

Jane, I have two eggs boiled so I may make some egg salad too.

Mary Ann, you do so well with keeping up on interesting posts, and I am so proud of you how you keep "doing" in spite of that darn shoulder problem. You are an inspiration ! I am taking the day off..still in my nightgown and intend to stay that way.. I just need a day off......completely off.

My Dori and Gary are on their way home from 2 1/2 weeks in McCall Idaho visiting the young family members, they plan to stop in Las Vegas to meet up with their oldest son and family who are on their way to McCall to visit with the same young family...they are such a close family unit, I am so Blessed to have them.

I'm going to look in my pantry for something simple to eat, and just keep being lazy for the day.

Good afternoon, been kinda busy, bible study this morning and getting ready to go to PT.  Did a load of washing and dried it, folded it and put it away.

Janie, I am waiting on oral surgeon to call me, been waiting all week.  I only have one, bless your heart you got two to endure.  Will he put you to sleep?  Since that guy hurt me so bad the last time I one removed, I am really hanky about shots to deaden the tooth.

Maybe some rain in the next ew days.   Hope....hope

Amy I pretty sure out thermometer is lying but it says it is cooling down some it is currently @ 92º . very light wind but it burn's your skin right on the spot as soon as you step out in it. I have been busy helping Nancy. I am doing the chopping the peppers and onions and she is putting the spices and such in them and cooking them. the peppers we are freezing for what ever? she may want. we bought 1/2 bushel of peaches (seams they are short every where this year) we gave $25.00 for them. we bought them at the Amish store they were selling  for $30.00 at the auction. I am going to try to get Nancy to go back to the Auction tomorrow and try to buy some more of them. have to take care of my sweet teeth you know. we ran out of what we canned last year quit a while back, do not want to do that this year. I know you can buy them commercially  canned. but are good  but not as good.

Hal, I wish you could have the dentist I had when I had a tooth extracted.  It hardly hurt when she gave me the shot to deaden the area and while I could tell what she and her assistant were doing, I felt nothing.  I didn't even have pain after the numbness wore off.  My dentist did not do this; he sent me to an oral surgeon.  Both offices happen to be across the road from my condo complex.

June, we do what we have to do if we can.  I don't do much, but I do try to do what I can.  I've started getting ready for the day later than I used to and I think both the computer and TV are responsible.  It used to be there were a lot of posts to read on the computer and that took time, so I'd get up about 5 am, read some, go back to bed, get up again and get ready for the day before I finished computing.  Now, I may get up between 7 and 8:30 am, compute what little is there and maybe around 10:30 to 11:30 I'll get dressed.  My new schedule plays hob with any early appointments I have.  And there's nothing I want to watch on TV to take up my time.

Mary Ann, my day starts early due to the meds I take. The girl comes in at six a.m., takes my blood pressure, gives me the thyroid pill which had to be taken at least a half hour before eating, then she puts the nitro patch on my leg, and off she goes. Some mornings I doze off till seven o'clock otherwise I do my leg massages and exercises which takes about half an hour, then I'm up for coffee and computer. Today is just felt so blah, I didn't even get out of my nightgown, which is a rare thing for me.

Tomorrow my housekeeper arrives at seven, changes all the linen, then she will return later to scrub the bathroom and do the deep cleaning, so I will be up and dressed early.

Nothing newsworthy from my area. Weather is fair to hot, no rain, just same old same old. I should not complain, but I do. I pray all is going well with our Bis. Her last post sounded like her complete healing is going to take more time, so I know prayers will continue for her.

Have a good night my dear friends. Much Love and prayers. June

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Rainy here again today.  Had a nice visit with my granddaughter and her husband yesterday.  They are here from Texas for a friend's wedding this Saturday but we all went out for supper last night and then played cards when we got back.  It was fun!

I'll be off to Wally World this morning for my shift.  Wish me smiles.  I'm going to need them on a rainy day and a Friday at that.  Busy day!

Yesterday wasn't busy and we spent a lot of time waiting at the end of our lane for customers.  There was a young boy on one side of me an a young girl on the other side and a customer would come with a full cartload and ask "Who should I take?"  I would answer indicate the kids on each side and say, "Well, do you want youth?" and then I'd indicate myself and say, "Or do you want experience?"  Most of them opted for experience.  And I don't think the broad smile hurt either.

Amy, if I have a choice in the matter, I'll take scalloped potatoes.  I'm not a big fan of mashed but I suppose they'd go better with what's in the crock pot.  Whatever you choose, I'm sure it will be good.

I better be getting myself around.  I need to get ready to go.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend, whatever it brings!

Good Morning Everyone!

Well can you stand a little good news?

Trustees project biggest Social Security increase in years

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/trustees-project-biggest-social-security-increase-years-194608724.html (https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/trustees-project-biggest-social-security-increase-years-194608724.html)

and no increase in Medicare, so the article says.

Well, back to the pool for me this morning and I need the warm water.  The lady yesterday worked my old legs out good and proper.  They are sore as can be.

Not much going on here, cleaning lady coming this morning.  So she will dust and vacuum and all her usual things.  Then she will go to my daughters house and clean there.  I watched a show on the Queen and Diana's death and the turbulence that it cause in England.  Seem lots of tradition was trampled on to satisfy the newspapers and populace.

Coffee is ready.

I didn't know what to have for breakfast, so I'm eating a big banana. Housekeeper has been in so I have all fresh linens for the week. She will return later for the "deep" cleaning and I will get out of her way.

Hal, It sounds like your therapist is getting those muscles back in shape for you. Hopefully todays water swim will loosen things up. The news is great for those folks on Social Security, every little bit helps. I wonder why there were those three years with no raise at all.

I have piled up all my desk junk so my girl can dust thing off, now I need to clear the kitchen counter, and get myself out of here. I'm going down to the coffee bar to see if they left any goodies behind. My banana needs company in there. See you later.

Hi everyone. It looks like we are headed to a 95 degree sunny day.  I got up early this morning and headed to the lab to get blood drawn in preparation for a routine visit to the GP a week from today.  I knew I needed to do it fasting so wanted to go early and was back home by 8:30.  The housekeeper arrived a few minutes ago so a clean house is once again on its way.  We plan on going out to eat today for our main meal as we often do the day the house is cleaned.  We haven't been out to eat all week.

I had planned to meet a group of men friends, from where I had lived, in Greensboro, Georgia today.  I realized yesterday that I just am not feeling like making a 2 1/2 hour round trip as have been very weary all week.  So yesterday I called and cancelled out for now.  So other than eating out later today I plan on a quiet and restful day.

Mary Ann, you are not alone having high humidity.  I was glad that email came early today rather than late in the afternoon as it usually does when it always is hotter.

Jane, too bad you have to wait until Monday to see the dentist. Sure hope the tooth doesn't start aching these next three days.

Gloria, I bet if you let someone you know that you needed help in cutting up the meat they would be glad to help you.  I know I sure would be happy if someone asked me to help them.  We have very small lots in our neighborhood but it hasn't been any problem and I love this small lot.

Patricia, thanks for posting the link to the rainbow picture.

June, you are indeed blessed with a loving family.  Hope you got rested up yesterday with your day off.

Hal, recent shot for numbing at the dentist have been almost painless as they numb as they go and start with a spray.

Amy, 48 hours is doable on the Holder Monitor.

Lloyd, cool doesn't seem to apply to anything in the 90's as that is hot weather in Missouri.  I like Amy's 72 degrees better.  The South Carolina peaches are not as good this year due to the bad freeze we had here at the wrong time in the spring.  We haven't had any of them yet this year.  I really like stuffed peppers.

Jenny, I have always enjoyed looking at homes for sale.  I had a year to look after I retired as we knew we would be selling the big house we lived in to go to a retirement home.  Are you looking for your son are you all looking to move.  I read that article and saw the picture about the monsoon and its impact on the son's golf course.  That sod pulled up like that was really something.  Cottonwoods must have shallow roots.  I was happy to read the course would be opened the following day.

Hal, that was good news about the possible increase in the COLA.

Larry they tell me the same sad stories everywhere this year. but if I can get Nancy to go back to the auction after the eagle fly's this month we are going to get more peaches. we may have over did it with the cucumbers .also we never bought enough dill seed at the Amish story. had to go to the local store and get some more and it cost $1.00 per 1 oz. there. most likely all the dill pickles here for this year. will make more relish out of the rest.it is good for many uses and will keep. Have a great day. our rain was .4" last evening. will help the gars.

Larry, I am happy that you listen to your body. It was wise to cancel that long trip. My day off seemed to do me very well. I just came home from a sing-along with our red hatters. A very Patriotic one indeed, and it was most enjoyable.

We are supposed to have a high of 82 today, but my apt. feels a lot hotter than that. I am going to shop for an indoor thermometer, just to appease my curiosity. My next door neighbor has had her A/C running for several hours already.

A good late afternoon HELLO.

I have really been busy today getting a lot accomplished.  Proud of myself, but the truth is I am about ready to drop.  I am no Jane or Amy when it comes to REAL work!

LARRY, we were out looking at homes for Brian, but you know it is rather easy to fine ones self thinking about themselves.  We saw a couple of ranch homes that I really did like.  Bob says we have way too much to give up regarding our location if we were to do something like this.  I am sure he is right.  I think you made a wise decision to not make that long trip today..

Brian continues to wait to hear back from the owner /agent that owns the home he has put a offer in on.  This is a sellers market for sure....many of the type homes he has looked at have sold for as much as 50K over their asking price.  That is just ridiculous. Austin was also a tough market when he moved there, but things have settled down there.  This Denver market is just a nightmare.

HAL, thank you for sharing the article on SS.

JANE, happy to read that you enjoyed spending time with your granddaughter and her hubby.

JUNE, my life long friend is in Tumicula right now attending her granddaughters wedding.  I told her she was in for a treat as it is a lovely are.

It has clouded over and now there is thunder...
Maybe we are going to get some rain?

I wish you all a pleasant night and hope you all enjoy the start to your weekend.

Jenny

I put in for Tuesday off because I don't know how fast I'll recover from having the two teeth extracted on Monday.  Today, my supervisor called to ask if I could come in tomorrow morning and do a 4 hour shift for her to help out with coverage.  I said I can.  So tomorrow kind of makes up for losing Tuesday.

It's hot here today and it's supposed to rain more later tonight.

I'm kind of tired tonight so I'm going to try to go to bed early tonight since I'll be working tomorrow.

Jenny, I hope you find the perfect house for you son and I hope you decide that you already live in the perfect home for yourselves.  I would really hate to have to move again and I'm betting you wouldn't like it much either.

I hope you all enjoy what's left of your day.  Do what you love best!

Thoroughly enjoyed Skye,   don't have to been to pat her and she can easily set her head on the table!!! .

Janie, I pray your dental work goes well for you on Monday and that you heal quickly.

Amy, I always made scalloped potatoes when we had breaded pork chops, they two just seen to compliment one another. I sure wish we could have some of that excess rainwater out here in dry So. Ca. It would be a rare thing if we had any rain before the winter months set it.

Jenny, I wouldn't dream of moving from your lovely home and area. It takes too much out of us now, and your area is very desirable as you well know...according to prices now.

I had a picture pop up on my computer of India and Sparky. They made such a handsome couple. Does anyone hear from them ? There were so many fun happenings when I first became a Sr. Netter. I never participated in the big doings, but it was fun reading about them.

I have had my nice cold shower...very invigorating indeed. so now I think it is time to bid you all a good night with prayers for your happiness and health. June

Good morning everyone, I am a bit under the weather. It has been rainy and cold, yesterday's high was 68° and of course the heat is off here for the summer.Sure glad I kept some sweatshirts out because they are needed to keep warm. Glad I kept my warm winter robe out because I am appreciating the warmth of it.

MARY ANN  we are the opposite, I do better with my right arm-the one with the shoulder replacement-than the left. I can take something down from the first shelf in the cupboard but cannot lift it to put back.

HAL  I am happy with the dentist I have. She numbs the gums before putting the needle in so it does not hurt. Very gentle. I had to reach my older years before I found her and I have been to some butchers before.

Think I will turn on the TV to see if there is anything good on and go lay on the couch again.

Good Morning one and all!

I see all the usual suspects are present and account for.  I have been in a couple of times but was on my IPad and I just don't like typing on that thing.  For several reasons.
The weather guessers are saying we have a chance for rain today, but you wouldn't think so looking out at all the sunshine, and a real good chance tomorrow.  Good Lord I promise: I will go to church even if it is raining buckets, pitchforks and cats and dogs.

We are now officially back under water restrictions, can only water once a week with sprinklers.  Hand watering allowed anytime.

Talked to wife this morning and she said they were expecting hot weather there in England in the next few days.  But she and daughter are leaving for France Wednesday for a week to see my daughters, daughter and her husbands family is gathering to meet my daughter and of course my wife.  Needless to say things are getting nervous.

Larry, you do have a nice neighborhood and looks like they did some good landscaping.  Beautiful homes.  And of course, loved the Good Lords handiwork.  Only he can do a painting in the air of such beauty.

Janie, I hope your day went well with no pain and only folks of good humor in your line.

It is so nice to have a day off, no apmts or obligations, just kicking back and enjoying.

Lloyd hope you are caught up on canning.  I think you said you still have peaches to do.  The last time I tried canning peaches I made a mess out of removing the skin, I dipped them to long or something in hot water and cooked the peach.  It seems like, when I used to help as a young man, we just dipped them in boiling hot water and took the right out and dipped them in cool water and the skin would slip right off.  But I did something wrong.

Amy hope you and hubby have a good day out.  And hope everyone has a great day.

Amy, I hope you made it home before the storm hit. No fun driving in bad weather.

Janie, I hope your time at WM was enjoyable, and now you are free for the dental work. I should be going in with a chipped filling, but it is just too tiring. I'll take my chances on it not getting worse.

Gloria, I'm sure sorry you have to live in that place…I think legally they are all wrong  in the way they operate things, but then I am not a lawyer. If they made me go without heat in cold weather, I would not stand for it. I'd hire a lawyer…now they have made you sick. What do your son's think about this place ?

Hal, you sound "up at at 'em" today. Yesterday's water therapy must have helped you.

I have no plans for today. It will be 85 for a high today, and that will require conditioning. The sun is shining brightly in my full wall of windows. Ick !!!

It is a very nice cool day today and the temps will go higher for the next week.  Don was out for a walk and our neighbors dropped two books off for him to share.

Jenny:  You talk about looking at other houses and we don't want to lose our convenient area.  Yes, the traffic has certainly picked up.  However, my doc is close - Don wouldn't move out east to the VA anyway.  We have the wild animals sometimes - this is such a great area, don't you think?

Jane:  Looking back, a person can "get through it".  Sorry for all of your tooth pain - it sure stops everything.

Gloria: and Amy:    I wonder if a 2nd. opinion on shoulder might be in order.  Just a thought.

Lloyd:  Could your headaches be for allergies?  They can start anytime and this is just the time of year for new allergies.

I'm home, the doggies have been out and had a snack.  I had my lunch and I'm still tired.  I think I'll go see if there are any zzzzs hiding on the sofa and try to coax them out to share the sofa with me.  Maybe I'll feel like doing something when I wake up....if I go to sleep.

Word from Pat, as posted in Christian Photographers

Hi everyone!

Here I sit in the huge mansion on Delhi St. Guelph wondering when I'll once again see the walls of my humble abode.  ;)

It was 15 months ago today that this mysterious malady hit me like a bomb.  Many suggested titles have been put on the drawing board the latest (and they feel like it is close to the mark) is Connective Tissue Disorder.  Look that up in Google!

I'm very limited in my data having only my phone here so this will be all for now.

God bless you all and thank you very much for your continued prayers.

Pat... :)

Pat, I'm so sorry to hear of your problem.  Either I had heard about it and forgot, or I hadn't heard about it - 15 months is a long time to really not know what it is.  I hope the doctors find out what it really is and that you can get better.

Pat, if you look in, you can count on my prayers.  I did Google & not a good diagnosis, but don't give up on feeling better.  I've known 2 people in the last year given "death" sentences and both proved someone above makes the decisions.  One is completely well and the other is weaker but has nothing to do with his original diagnosis.  God Bless and give you strength.

Thanks Jeanne Lee, for the news.

Good Evening Everyone.

It is cool here on the rocky coast of Maine.
And for that,  I am grateful.

Kelly has arrived safely back from her three weeks
in Europe.     She had a wonderful time.    Her
two puppies really missed her.     (Ass did I)

Maggie and Maeve are still in Europe and will be for
another  four weeks.        They are so young to be
traveling on there own.    But they are having a grand
old time.   Staying in hostels  and seeing the world
on their own.

I will be glad when they are home,  too!

I am doing fine,  enjoying the Summer.

Have a good week end,  everyone!
Sandy

Good morning everyone..

Another muggy day with the threat of a storm. Yesterday was an interesting day....the short of a long story is I had to take hubby to emerg and we ended up with a family Dr. Our Dr has retired  due to medical reasons and Dr. are hard to get in this area..but I asked the Dr on call that works up here and he said yes, he would take us on.
Since I  slept in I had better get a move on..
Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi everyone. It looks like we will be having a nice and cooler day today, only in the 80's.  We had a lot of rain yesterday afternoon and evening with several hours of lightning and thunder.  I certainly don't have to water the grass tomorrow.  I have nothing else to write about as to my activities of yesterday as ended up again at home all day as just didn't feel up to attending the meeting I had hoped to attend.  I will be going to Sunday School and Church this morning as I signed up several weeks ago to bring the Devotional at Sunday School this morning.  We will likely stop somewhere after Church to have lunch and then just rest the rest of the day.

Gloria, sorry to see you were a bit under the weather yesterday and hope today finds you feeling better.

Hal, the landscaping is nice in our neighborhood but the yards were not properly smoothed and prepared before the sod was laid.  I don't feel comfortable walking in the yard and sure don't want Pat to do so.  Other than a few steps sometimes in my back yard I seldom need to walk in the grass.  I hope your wife and family enjoy their time in France.  Sorry to see you are under water restrictions.  We have had a lot of rain this year, including a lot we had yesterday, so no water restrictions I have heard about.  Neither Pat nor I had any appointments last week and I don't this week until Friday when I go to the GP for a scheduled routine visit, whether I need it or not.

Jeanne, thanks for sharing that information from Pat on her current situation.  I looked up that diagnosed condition and it sounds terrible.  No wonder she has been so sick for the last 15 months.

Sandy, glad to see that Kelly is back safely at home.  The young girls are having a great adventure and now is the time in their lives for it.

Lloyd, I will now where to come for some good canned and frozen food.  It sounds wonderful and sure brings back memories from my childhood or my mother and grandmother toiling away getting things canned and in the root cellar.  It sounds like you are going to have hotter weather than we are today.  Stay in and stay cool. My wife is enjoying watching her humming bird feeder from her easy chair and the birds have been very active in the last couple of weeks.

Amy, so sorry to read that you had to make another trip to the ER for your husband.  He is having a tough time of it.  I hope he is feeling better today.  Glad you were able to find a new doctor.

Good MOrning Everyone!

The good Lord blessed us with almost two inches of rain yesterday afternoon.  Oh, how I enjoyed watching it fall.  And maybe more today.

Got to get ready for church, as I promised, yesterday.  So be back Later,
Pat, thinking of you.

Light rain earlier but nothing to worry about..

Larry, that trip really was a blessing as we now have a Dr. I shall miss the one I have had for close to 30 years but know it is time for him to enjoy life. We are having a retirement party for  him in Aug and I hope we are able to go see him .

Shirley my friend's sister was given 6 months.....and when she went back to her Dr, he could NOT find the cancer in her body!!

I think toasted tomato sandwich and some bean salad will be in order for lunch with rhubarb pie for dessert.

Carol and Larry's Pat, do you have this pattern? Can be a great scrappy one too.

I have a box of fabric to wash up for cancer quilts so I had better get at it..

Good morning everyone, yesterday was not a good day for me. Enough said.

LLOYD  my daughter makes a zucchini relish that is very tasty.

JUNE  most places shut heat down here the end of May and turn it back on the end of September. Being that cold and damp at this time of year is unusual. Last year it got cold early and the heat was turned on early.

CAROL  my right shoulder is OK I can still do a lot with it but not as strong as it was. Left one is arthritis and nothing helps that and I will not have it replaced now.

JEANNE LEE  I know Pat was ill but not like her message sounds. Prayers that the doctors can find a way to help her.

PAT  I pray the medical people will find out the problem and help you. HUGS.

AMY  finding a good doctor taking new patients is hard finding here, too. Right now I don't see my doctor but her NP and I like her very much, she takes time to listen.

HAL  glad you finally got some good rain. We have had too much this year, maybe next year we will pray for some.

Checking in on everyone, been to church & breakfast with the bunch... Turned on the sprinklers in front since the "feels like" temp is already 100° .... actual temp much lower but can't stand out in the sun to watch the sprinkler's run.  So glad the well is pumping out water instead of sand this week!

Got a load of clothes running, manged to dump half a cup of coffee down the front of me on the way home.  My 3rd cup of the morning so couldn't drink it all & certainly made a mess of me!

Amy, so sorry you had another run to the ER, hope he is okay now.  (((hugs to you)))

Thinking of all the aches & pains everyone deals with as we grow older.... wonder who started the myth about our "Golden Years"???  Wishing everyone smiles today, when I was little I was taught to give smiles to everyone.  One morning I looked at a man & didn't smile, felt so guilty I raced through the alley & cut back through a yard so I could pass him again and smile.  Silly thing to remember, but I still smile if eye contact when walking along.

In my email this morning and too good not to share:

        A bagpipers final tribute..
As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's cemetery in the Nova Scotia back country.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn't stop for directions.

I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight  There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch. I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late.

I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't know what else to do, so I started to play.
The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played my heart and soul out for this man with no family and friends. I played like I've never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played "Amazing Grace," the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, and we all wept together. When I finished, I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head was hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "I never seen anything like that before, and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years."

Apparently, I was still lost....it's a man thing.

;D

It most definitely IS a man thing and I was married to one of those men who would drive 50 or so miles out of his way in the middle of the night before he'd stop and ask for directions.  My son saw it so many times that he is NOT one of those men.  He'll ask.

Incidentally, I love that story, HAL.

Love the story, Hal.... I am lost all the time but I tell everyone I get to see the prettiest scenery when lost, and meet the nicest people because I stop & ask directions.  Tom-Tom and Magellan don't help, so still keep the old paper maps handy just in case I can get a sign to show where I am, to figure how to get on the right path.

Need to run to the store, decided to make a pot of red chili & green chili to put over some cheese enchiladas.  Takes lots of onions for both kinds of chili & then a good Vidalia chopped fresh to go on top with the shredded lettuce & tomatoes. I also make salsa to go on top of all that, & a spoon full of sour cream to decorate.  I love to eat & haven't made these for a long time.  Won't get all done until
tomorrow.  I'm planning to freeze tubs of each chili to have later.

JaneS sometimes the Man thing is ok and sometimes not. onetime I was in the bad part of Chicago stooped to ask directions and was threatened big time for my life and told to get out of there,I told the man pointing the gun at me that was fine with me , I would go out to the truck stop and advertise there produce for sale. I am sure it will bring my fuel $$$ and then some and tell the shipper it was stolen and that would satisfy me. they decided that they would help me get it delivered, ( that was in Harlan ) in case you have never had the business end of a revolver pointed at you ( i will tell you that it soon looks) a 105  howitzer. I have been robed at gun point besides that threat.

Good afternoon, just marking my space.  Very warm to day and the humidity is 97.  I was up most of the night with Atril Fib I think because of the humidity.  i took to nitros, generally only take one. Now I am in great shape if I did not have to walk and breath.

My neighbor just called from the grocery store to see if I needed anything. she will be by in a little while with my small order.

Amy so sorry your husband had more problems.  Praying for him and also you.

Joan and Pat hugs go your way also.  Diana is here so have to go.

A good Sunday HELLO to all.

HAL, I just shared your bagpipe story and we all got a nice chuckle out of it!  Thank you for sharing!

SHIRLEY, I will be right over to taste your chilies before you put them in the tubs to freeze.  Love them both and know they will be very tasty.  I, too, make eye contact and smile at just about everyone, and for the most part I get a smile in return.

GLORIA de, sorry you suffered all night with your afib.  I am sure that heavy air does make it hard for you to breathe..  take care.

AMY, sorry to read you had to take your DH in to emergency again.  I do hope he is feeling better.  Happy you were able to secure a new doctor.

GLORIA, I hope today has proven to be a much better day for you.

CAROL, we are not seriously looking to move, but as we were looking at a few places with Brian, I must admit I became a bit smitten with a couple of the ranch homes I saw.  The worse part of a new development is the lack of trees / greenery around.  Also, they are building all these new housing developments and the roads around them are already over capacity.  I truly am sad to see all this influx of humanity.  New home developments being built in every direction, as you well know.

I think of you often, JOAN, and continue to hold positive thoughts and
say prayers for you to feel much better.

Happy to read your Kelly has arrived back after her nice European vacation, SANDY.

LARRY, I hope you and Pat are enjoying a nice leasurely Sunday.

JUNE, we do love our home and the area we live in, so the thought of a move is a bit overwhelming, however it is time for some updating and it is so hard to get anyone to come and do their job, so that makes us wonder if it might not be easier to move on!  Both ideas are a bit more than we want to deal with.

HOWDY, JANE!
I wish you all a good rest of your day.

Jenny

I tell folks it is ok you pick on me because you are leaving someone alone can't take it as good as I can. you are a great friend. Keep your chin up and smile. the good thing about a smile is you can keep it and give it to everyone you meet at the same time. we all love you friend. Have a great rest of the evening. smell the flowers I posted a while ago. that should help you.

A nice quiet Sunday here. Church in the morning, a big lunch downstairs, and home to just fall apart for the rest of the day. I plan to have some left overs for supper, then nothing more to do but loaf some more. My Gary will be here Wed. for Bible study and a visit with me for a while. That is always a treat.

I pray you all have a good nights sleep, and a happier tomorrow for those who are ill and concerned. Hugs, Love and Prayers. June
