Good Morning everyone. current weather is 32º and clear shooting for 52º and sunny. as usual something goes wrong around here. the sewer to the lagone stopped up and so far we are un able to get the sewer rat to go through the clog. will go to KC MO today and get some new parts for it hopefully will push it through. hope the day goes better. this old man is too old for this sort of activity. wish you all a great day.

Good Morning AMY you are up and at it early again this morning good to see you Have a great day.

Lloyd

Joy

Good morning, Amy and Lloyd.

It is a pretty sunny morning, but cold.  At least the rain has disappeared for a while, anyway.

I did get to the Amish Market on Saturday.   Got some goodies, and a couple gifts.  There are so many good things to look at that it is hard to make choices.  We had a nice lunch at the market and then went to another nice store up the road from the market.  I did get some bags of Christmas candy that I will divide up among the children. Will make up goodie bags for them.

I have been awake since 2 a.m.  I laid there a while and then decided that I couldn't get back to sleep and might as well get up and get a few things accomplished.  Wrote some cards and checks that will go out in today's mail.  Bundled up a bunch of catalogs and went through another pile of junk mail.  Before I knew it, it was almost 6 a.m.  Got some breakfast and now need to clean up my dishes and get dressed.

I am getting my hair done, and then if I get done in time, I will go to the exercise class.  And, probably a nap will occur at some point.  Right now, I don't feel tired at all.

Amy, sounds like you will have a busy day.  What is the new recipe you want to try?

And, Lloyd, sure hope you can get the sewer pipe unclogged. Not a very pleasant job to have to tackle early in the morning.

I hope we will hear something from Jane today. She sure is missed.

And, also hope that June will be able to join in today.

I hope everyone will have a pleasant day.

Good morning every one, rained yesterday and all night, fell asleep listening to it hit the windows. Looks like most of this coming week we will have some rain. Going to start singing "rain rain go away, come again some other day."  Oh well better than being snowed in.

LLOYD  Don't worry about your spelling, your friends here know what you mean. It is 39° here now but the weather person says it will be dropping all day and into the teens overnight.

PHYLLIS  like you any time I do anything in the kitchen I have to sit or lay on the couch to rest my back. Cooking is almost impossible for me. Glad my CNA is a good cook.

AMY  I have more homemade cookies here  than I can eat. My DIL made cookies for a cookie exchange at their church and sent 4 different kind for me and then the ones my daughter sent me.

SHIRLEY  like you I was never into playing with dolls. Paper ones I would cut the clothes and try them on and then they were put in bags never to bother with again, I had a doll carriage, too, and the only time I bothered with it was to push my nephew in it when my sister and BIL visited. I did like the year I got a new bigger sled and a pair if ice skates. I liked puzzles or books better than toys.

JENNY  Jonah looks like a happy baby, Love his little chunky legs.  Thank you for sharing. Have a safe trip to your Dad's.

AMY  I am getting good at doing nothing even though I hate doing nothing.

LARRY  Don made his program interesting telling us things about the composers. How he ever said some of the names of them I had trouble trying to read some.

JOY  you sound like me waking early and not being able to go back to sleep, Been that way over  a week now. Unusual for me.

Have a good day,

Larry, I've gotten a few of the Amazon free books for my e-reader but find I'm not interested in many of them.  And, yes, some of them are surprisingly good even though the author is new and unknown.  We like Peanut Clusters, too, and I never thought of making them in the slow cooker.  I usually melt the chocolate in the microwave, mix in the peanuts (sometimes I have used cashews which we like better) and drop them on wax paper to cool.  So easy and so good, too.

Sunny here today, too, Joy.  I talked to my daughter-in=law last night.  They live in no. VA, just west of Manassas, and she said they were deluged with 3 inches of rain on Sat. and without power for four hours.  Thankfully, they have a generator built into their house electrical system and it started up within just a minute after the power shut down.

I must get some breakfast and get the laundry started.  Other than that it is going to be a pretty easy day.....I hope.

My eyes were bothering me this morning and I could not read the posts with small print so I came back now.

Tom went out for lunch and brought back a cheeseburger for me.  He doesn't realize I would rather have a plain hamburger and I've told him so.  He paid for it, so I don't make too much of an issue about it.

Amy, Larry has been posting in the afternoon recently and that probably is why you don't see a post in the morning.

It's been a sunny day today, more like fall, except our trees don't have leaves on them.

Mary Ann

Amy

Mary Ann, thank you..one gets used to his posts and misses them when he is not here. Just like June and Jane..../I hope they both know how much they are missed and get their computers fixed soon.

I just came back from seeing to Callie, she is doing ok but I am sure she misses her owners. They called and said they would be another day where there are and should be home tomorrow night so we get to keep the boy one more day! :smitten:

I have to take my van in early in the morning for an oil change. This is at a new to me garage and will see how they do.

Going to go rest..

Hi Everyone.  It is almost dark and so I am really late posting today.  I posted late yesterday so didn't have anything new to add this morning plus I was busy.  I did get my tire fixed shortly after lunch and they found there was a screw in the tire.  While I was at Costco I ate my lunch there.  After I left I went to a battery store to get a new battery put in Pat's watch.  This has been a delightful day with sun and it getting up to the mid-60s.

Amy, here I am and yes I will share the candy recipe.  Here is the recipe:

Crock Pot Peanut Clusters Candy - From Flora M's Kitchen

When you've had a taste of this delectable confection you won't believe how simple it is.  You'll be amazed how it always comes out and never fails.

1-One pound jar of Planters Lightly Salted Dry Roasted Peanuts
1-One pound jar of Planters Unsalted Dry Roasted Peanuts
1-12 oz. Pack of Nestles Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1-12 oz. Pack Nestles White Chocolate Chips
1-One pound pack of Vanilla Bark (find with Chocolate Chips aisle)

Directions:  Pour peanuts into large Crock Pot:  add chips and chocolate bark.  Cover and turn on low setting.  Now, go polish your car, or read a book.  Come back in an hour or so.  Stir with a large spoon coating all the peanuts.  Spoon onto waxed paper - whatever size is appropriate for you and let harden.

Keep crock pot on until all candy has been spooned out -no big rush.  This is a generous recipe and you will have a gracious plenty.  Keeps fresh in plastic bag or container, but don't expect it to last very long because each morsel is filled with a wonderful taste of chocolate and is chocked full of peanuts.  Enjoy!

I'll copy this recipe and put it in the cooking discussion and into the Index to make it easier to find. I will be making this recipe this week.

Lloyd, it does seem like there is always something that needs to be fixed around our homes.  I hope you were able to get the plumbing problem solved today.

Joy, it is really frustrating not to be able to sleep and having to get up in the middle of the night because of it.  Hope you can sleep better tonight.

Gloria, our daughter never really cared to play much with dolls.  Sorry to see that you are also having problems sleeping at night.

Phyllis I think cashews or pecans would substitute well for the peanuts in the above recipe.  I did see on the news about the terrible flooding someplaces in Virginia.

Mary Ann, like you I would just as soon have a plain hamburger as usually can't taste the cheese very much and I like to put ketchup and mustard on it.

JaneS

I'm here and I'm just coming out of withdrawal!  I had a time trying to figure out how to get a message to you that I'm fine but my computer was deathly ill!  Then I remembered that a while back when we were trying to make contact, I'd met Amy's son and that since I'm not on facebook, my daughter had looked him up and become facebook friends with him.  So I texted her and asked her to tell him that my computer was out and would he please tell his mother.  She texted back almost immediately "DONE".

Ot was a wedmesdau night that I talked to Windstream and after 3 people trying to fix me up remotely, they came back and said that they had put in an order for a service call and thae it would be taken care of in 3-5 business days.  That was Thur, Fri, Mon, Tue, and wed, but they came today.  Thank the powers that be!

I've read everything and I'm exhausted trying to keep up with all of you.  LARRY, I still make one bag of peanut clusters for my son every Christmas but they don't sound nearly as good as yours do!  If you want to pretty up the once you make for gifts, buy a little pack of #4 candy papers and drop your clusters in them.  If you have a cookie sheet with edges you can get about 80 of them on there at a time and they look very nice in those see through christmas bags that Wal-Mart (and everyone else sells.  And they don't cost much.

We've been having lots of rain.  We had one snowfall that brought out the plows and cinder trucks but that didn't last long.  I don't think we're expecting a white Christmas arond here.

Tomorrow, my youngest granddaughter will be 12 years old!  They are picking me up for dinner and birthday cake around 5.  It will be quieter than most of her birthdays up to now.  Do you think that's a sign she's growing up?

I'm really tired and I have to go back and clean out my email buildup.  There are over 400 messages to deal with.  I'd like to get through some of them tonight but I NEEDED to come by and chat with my friends.

I have Tennesee Ernie Ford's Christmas album playing.  It's one of my favorites!

Enjoy the rest of your evening.  Stay warm! Stay happy!  And keep love in your hearts!

Denver

Good evening from Sun City Arizona.  This morning was one of the most difficult things I have had to do in a long time....drive away from the sweet little Jonah Boy.  There was never going to be a easy time to do this, and today was the day we really needed to get headed to Sun City.  My Dad is having sever pain in his back and he was able to get a doctors appointment tomorrow morning and we need to be here as Diane is unable to help him in or out of the car, and the like.  Three days ago, Dad bent over to pick up a tissue he dropped and could not stand back up.  We sure hope it is nothing serious, but he desparately needs to get some help about this.  We had a ten hour drive today, so we both are rather tuckered out.

Tomorrow Baby Jonah will be circumcised and his mama and daddy are a bit up tight about it....they do not want to see the little guy in pain.  I would not want to either!  What happened to the doc doing it in the hospital?  Seems the sooner the better....but what do I know?  I sure miss holding him....he is so sweet.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning Everyfriend!  It sure feels good to be able to check in here as I usually do in the morning!  I really didn't know what to do while I drank my coffee and waited for the doggies boinger to go off all those mornings.  It seemed like forever.  We ARE all creatures of habit, aren't we.

Our weather today is supposed to be clear and sunny.  Let's hope the report is correct.  It's still too dark to tell.  Our doggie groomer will be here at 9 today to pretty up the doggies and make them smell better.  I have to remember to get the car out from under the roof so she can get in with her equipment.

The rest of my day is....1) Change the bed.  2) finish wrapping the gifts and filling the goody bags.  3) Take a nap. 4) Mix up some cookies to bake tomorrow.

And that reminds me, AMY I have a lovely container of Moose Farts that I'm working on making disappear.  And I'm thinking of making more to take to my daughter's Christmas Eve open house.  Wouldn't that make all those young people revise their opinion of the "old lady"!!

I think I mentioned that today is Kiran's 12th birthday.  It's also the 35th anniversary of the day my father joined my mother in heaven.  Kiran was due on the 17th and my DIL was here that day and was having some minor pains.  I remember telling her that "Daddy Wright (my kids named him that) was up there playing with her and he wasn't going to let us have her until he could send us a happy memory to take the place of an unhappy one."  She wasn't coming until tomorrow.  And she was born around 4 a.m. on the 18th and has been a blessing to me ever since!

Annie just came in here to tell me that it's almost time for the boinger to go off so they can have their breakfast.  She's right!  We have about 5 minutes to go.  So I'll wish you all a great day!  Grab it and make it yours in every way!

Not a good time to have the drains stopped up or the refrigerator to die, can be quite a mess. I woke up at 4:00 am & just got up to start hauling stuff to the RV.  I'm going to make an overnight trip to MO that I started over a month ago when I turned around after hearing my son was going to have the open heart surgery. Yesterday he went in for a blood draw to make sure that infection was clear of his body, still on antibiotics. I'm in the middle of eating my breakfast so will need to reheat my coffee & finish up. Busy day, busy week... we are having our Christmas party on Sat and going to have Dairy Queen ice cream cake in honor of the youngest grand graduating college... she kept up the tradition, Magna Cum Laude.... but will return to classes for the special training for Audiology (not sure that is spelled right but my spelling dinger didn't go off).

June, glad you can get on with the laptop. That is all I have or use anymore. BUT, I do use a mouse with it. I cannot manage that little finger pad.

Janie, nice to see you are back in business again. I rarely get down in the dumps but when I'm without a computer to visit in here, I do get lonely, feel like I'm on a desert island.

I hear rumbling of planes, 6:00 schedule. Now & then the sound comes through, we usually don't get loud enough to notice, maybe 5 miles from the airport?  Better get moving, will have to "nuke" that cup of coffee.

Janie,  :hugs:

phyllis

All is right with my world!  So glad to have Jane and June back.  :) And, to make it even better...the sun is shining!

Nothing really big happening today except for the usual household chores.  We managed to get the Christmas tree set up yesterday and I think that and the front door wreath are going to be it for decorating this year.  It is just getting too hard to drag everything out and then put it all away.  I may look like Scrooge from the outside but Christmas is still in my heart.  :smitten:

Enjoy the day, Everyone.

Hi Everyone.  I have gotten off my normal morning posting schedule here so will try to get back on schedule.  We have a beautiful clear sky day and there is no rain in the forecast.  We will get into the low 60's this afternoon.  I have only one thing on my to-do list for today and that is to meet a friend downtown at one of our banks to add my name to the bank account for a group.  I have agreed to be the Treasurer of the group for the next 3 years starting January 1st.  I have served as the Treasurer of several other groups and organizations over the years since I have been retired and know it is not a difficult job.  Yesterday in the mail we got the bill for the heat pump repair to the tune of $825.  This was just for labor and 4 pounds of Freon. The parts they put in were still under the manufacturers warranty.

Jane, so good to see your post appear as I have been missing your messages.  Amy did allay our concerns for you since we knew your absence was computer related and not health related.  Thanks for the suggestions for the candy papers and the Christmas bags although I doubt I will get back to Walmart until after Christmas.  We have the little Glad Snack Bags that I think will probably serve the purpose or will use sandwich bags.  When I made these before I spread out wax paper on the large island this house has in it and let them harden up and then stored them in a contained with each layer separated by wax paper.  Are you sad that you probably won't be having a white Christmas this year.  I just prefer to have good memories of the white Christmases and hope to never experience one again.  It is hard to believe that Kiran is 12 years old today.  They do grow up so quickly but know you have a wonderful relationship with her.  Tennessee Ernie Ford certainly had a unique voice and was a good singer.  It is great that the dog groomer comes to your home rather than having to take them and leave them.  It should be much less upsetting to the dogs.  I have seen a van in our area that apparently goes to the homes to do the grooming.

Lloyd, I agree those peanut clusters are diet food and I have to limit myself to no more than two of them a day.  You did post early this morning.  Hope you can finish up your plumbing situation today.  At least you have decent weather.

Amy, everything I posted in blue came off the recipe sheet but our experience with them the couple of times we have made them fits what was described.  I hope you all will like them.  Getting your day started at 1:30 is too early.  I hope you can work in a nap today sometime.  It is sure cold up your way.  I will take our 60 degree weather any day.

Jenny, it sounds like your timing was good so that you can be with you Dad to provide the help he needs.  Ten hours in the car in one day is a lot so you had reason to be tired last night.  I hope you were able to get restful sleep.

June, your message came through well.  I am just glad to see you post.  You and Jane had computer problems at the same time.

Shirley, you do have a busy week planned.  Congratulations to your granddaughter graduating from college with such high achievements.  I think you spelled Audiology just right.  Like you I don't care for the touch pad on the laptop and both Pat and I use a mouse to move around on the screen.

Phyllis, it is always good when we can say it is "all right with our own world".  Christmas really isn't about decorating and the hustle with gift buying but about the true meaning of the season.  I hope you continue to have a good day.

Joy

Good morning,  Amy, Lloyd, Jane, Larry, Shirley and Phyllis.  I don't think I missed any of your early birds.

It is a pretty sunny morning here, also, but cold. Larry I would welcome some 60º temperatures.  Your peanut clusters sound good, but I am always so afraid of breaking a tooth when I eat anything like that.

Nice that Jane is back with us.  You were missed, Jane.  But, glad everything seems to be working out now.  I will have to look up that recipe for the Moose Farts, as that would be something fun to give to the little ones.  I have a family Christmas party to go to on Jan.5 , so I might make some to take there.  Would be a conversation starter , I am sure. Hard to believe that Kiran is 12 years old.  You have shared so many of the good times you both have had together.

Shirley, hope you get to make the trip that got cancelled when your son got sick. Just have a save one.

Phyllis, I am with you as far as decorating goes. I did put a wreath on my door and I have a ceramic Christmas tree that belonged to my mother, and that is as much as I did. Like you, it is just too hard dragging it all out and then having to put it away. I do have a sleigh and snowman that I usually put outside my door, but they are have been doing some painting in our building, and they asked residents not to put anything outside their door.

Amy, I was awake at 2:30 and didn't go back to sleep until almost 5. I slept till a little after 8.  Yesterday, I was up at 2 a.m. and didn't even get a nap. I thought I would sleep better last night, but didn't.

We are having a little Holiday tea today. So, I need to get myself moving and get a few chores done. I bought some little pastries at the market the other day, so I need to find a pretty plate to put them on.  We weren't asked to bring anything, but I wanted to take something different. Not sure what else they will be having.

Lloyd, hope you are getting the sewer problem fixed.  Sorry you couldn't sleep that well either.

I hope you and all the friends who come in later will have a wonderful day.

Joy

Hello again!  My doggie groomer just left and the doggies are clean, sweet smelling, beautiful and tired!  Seems to take a lot out of them

Now to finish the wrapping and then maybe a quick trip to the store.  One of the supermarkets has some good BOGOS and tomorrow is the last day for them.  If I don't get there, it's no big deal.

I spent the time the groomer was here cleaning out my inbox.  It was full and running over!  There were over 1200 messaged to deal with and I've managed to get it down around 300.  I'm tired of doing that and I do want to go back and read a couple of them more fully.

I want to thank all of you for missing me and for welcoming me back.  It makes me feel special!

SHIRLEY, I don't get depessed much either but, like you, I sometimes get lonely. I've been known to tell the walls, "I'd sure like to talk to someone my own age for a while!"  I think that's the one thing I miss most!

I think the doggies are coming alive and are ready for a snack.  I know I could eat some lunch.  And here I go!  Keep my "chair" warm until I get back!

Jane, I am with you as far as wanting to talk to somebody.  I do get mildly depressed at times, but I do try to work through it.  But, I do get lonely. Where I live there is usually someone sitting down in the lobby, but there are times when I just don't feel like listening to all the complaints.  I wish I could tell some of the people to put all that energy they spend complaining, to do something positive with it.  I do have many friends here, and could find one of them if I looked hard enough.  All in all, it is a nice group of people.

Good afternoon everyone, another day when ever thing is messed up. Woke at 3 am and had my coffee and breakfast. My mouse heeded new batteries yesterday afternoon. Stupid HP mouse, have a problem every time I need to change them. Called my daughter and told her I would not be on Skype.  It opens on the top instead of the bottom like all the others I have had do. OK Took me half an hour to take the top off and got the new batteries in but forgot how to put the little plastic clip in that holds them in place. Tried almost 2 hours and got frustrated so put it down and no computer for the evening. Could not find anything interesting on TV and luckily ? I picked up a book from down in the library but I could not get into it, kept turning 10 or 20 pages at once ad finally just read the last page. Shows how much I was interested in it. This morning about 9 I thought I would try to get the mouse working again so a couple of hours later I got that clip in. My CNA was here early today so there went the morning. She is great but I keep telling her she talks too much. Now I am ready for a nap. My eyes are at half mast trying to close the rest of the way.

JANE  glad your computer is running again. When I bought the HP lemon I had nothing but trouble with it. 3 weeks after purchase it went back to the factory and I told them I wanted my money back because it was a lemon. A fes days later it was here and OK for 3 weeks and again had to go back to the factory.. Came back again and said they replaced this and that and it was running perfect. About a month after that I had problems again so the sent a tech here to check it out. He checked this and that and the other thing but I don't think he knew much. I was his fifth career at 37 years old and been at it 10 years and knew ALL about computers. OK then he left and after he was gone I noticed the tower was on the floor. I never had i t on the floor. I called him because he left his information, I did not want it there and I cannot pick it up. It was on a Friday evening and he was giving me a song and dance about living on Cape Cod and was planning to go to Boston to see his daughter and would be here on Monday. I was not going to let him get away with being stupid. He was here in less than 2 hours, he had to fight the the late spring traffic and I did not feel bad for him. He had installed so many things on this machine I had no idea what they were. My grandson to the rescue and he told me what all the stuff was and told me I already had it in this lemon so he got rid of it. I asked him is he  knew everything about computers and he said no and never would, that was his major in college.
Now that is more than anyone wanted to read.

Been reading the posts and not replying but looks like I am the only one who woke early. It is sunny but cold 27°at almost 2pm and very windy. Goodness I have been up almost 12 hours already and I will say have a good rest of the day and pull the shade and  go see it there are some Zzzzzzzzzzs on the couch.

Hi Friends!  Kiran's birthday party was fun...just some family members but we had a good supper followed by birthday cake which I understand she helped bake and I saw her ice it.  She got some nice presents and lots of love!

Now I'm very tired and I'm going to go to bed.  Tomorrow is another day!  I'm almost finished with my wrapping. I have one to wrap that's sitting in there and one I still have to pick up from the shop where the custom work is being done.  And I still need to pick up a Barnes&Noble gift certificate for Kiran.  I keep thinking of things to do.  Why is that!

Good Night Everyfriend!  I hope we all sleep peacefully and wake ready to take on the world!  And may God bless us, every one!
