One of our projects at military leadership school called for us to speak in front of the class on a topic picked by our instructor. A classmate gave an impassioned speech on the benefits of drinking liquor. Alcohol, he insisted, warded off colds, kept you alert, and even made you steadier on your feet.

"Good job," said our instructor when he finished. "Only one thing: Your topic was the benefits of drinking liquids, not liquor."

Time is too slow for those who wait,

too swift for those who fear,

too long for those who grieve,

too short for those who rejoice,

but for those who love, time is eternity.

Thanks, Bubble for our nice, clean, happy place!  Love the pics and the stories.  And you even got that mouse that was hovering around the door to the Hidey Hole!

Well, we got the predicted snow overnight.  There's about an inch and a half out there.  But the real storm starts tonight and continues over the weekend.  Thank goodness it's not going to amount to much until after I get home from work!  But I'm pretty sure we won't be going to the Amish Store this weekend!

The doggies and I are awaiting the boinger so we can have our breakfast then the day begins.  I have my list made up but the only extra that will probably get done today might be a load of laundry.  Tomorrow, the bed will be changed and I'll hit the paper work again.

I'll be back to look for JUNE, LARRY, PHYLLIS, and EVERYFRIEND.  Come in and check out the cleaned up quarters and say "Hello".  We miss you when you're not here.

Good morning everyone, read the posts but not up to replying. We got  inches of fluffy snow Wednesday night and between the plow and the maintenance man with his little plow clearing the walks I did not get any sleep. Cancelled my CNA for yesterday and spent the day dozing on and off. Slept great last night but still feeling yucky.

BUBBLE  love your graphics, Sure makes me long for spring. Thanks.

Good morning,  Jane, Amy, Lloyd, Sandy , Gloria and Bubble.

I just wrote a long message and lost it.

Thank you, Bubble, for the beautiful "signs of Spring".  It is coming sooner or later.

Gloria, hope you will feel better today. I was feeling like that for a couple days, but feel better this morning.

We had a little snow overnight, but it seems to be disappearing quickly.  A bigger storm is on the horizon for Sunday night.  So tired of all this wintery mess.

I am running a little late this morning, so I better get moving.

Have a good first day of March.   Seems like it is coming in like a lion, so hopefully, it will go out like a lamb.

Joy

Oh, Gloria, was getting worried about your lack of posting yesterday. Sorry you had/have the yuckies. Guess you caught something on your outing last week, you think?  Everyone I know has had something .... So far I have missed it but do need to call my doctor for a prescription for sinus, my face feels like someone hit me across the face with a 2 x 4. Hope you get better fast. Was thinking of you yesterday when I was indulging in OVER eating, thinking I could fatten you up in a hurry.

Lloyd, like you, I am getting the itch to head out but will wait until mid-March. Going to meet my daughter in the little town where my parents came from so I can point out and repeat all the lore my parents told me growing up. We visited Dad's mother & brother and Mothers large family that lived in Jefferson City nearly every week end. Used to laugh when saying that because that was the expression everyone used "that we needed to visit Grandma, she may not make it through the winter." She didn't die until I was in my 30s. I loved hearing all the stories about when they were young. My oldest son & wife will be spending the week at their time-share in Branson so invited them to join us the full day we will be re-discovering my & their roots. Google shows it as a less than 2 hour drive so we'll see if they want to spend 4 hours of their day in the car to spend about 4 hours with us. Hope they do a good job on your RV.

Tomorrow evening into Sunday weather guessers predict 4 to 6" of snow for US! Today I am going out to move the snow blower into the garage. A big job since I have to move a lot of stuff to make room for it. While working in the garage I need to add air to the tires on my little car, they are low & I'm afraid to let them wait until it's oil change. It is supposed to get above freezing today so will put the job off until after lunch.

Good morning, Sandy & Amy. We had a cockatiel named Honeybird.... poor little thing, it really did not get the attention all the other birds we raised got and I always, still, feel bad about it. The kids thought we needed another bird so gave it to me for Christmas... and the following spring was when we adopted the orphan ducks & they were a full time job for years.

Jane, sure wish I was organized like you. I make up my lists but too willing to get side tracked so am disappointed when not all get done for the day. Right now I have so many jobs needing to be done I go in circles. Maybe I need to stay away from this computer for a while..... been posting far too often/much.

Bubble, thanks for the beautiful graphics & text, what a wise observation by Van Dyke... don't think I ever heard/read that before!  I've been sitting here so long probably half a dozen posts so will make sure I don't forget to "re-post" before I leave.

Hope everyone checks in early, maybe we need to call roll & sign in or "20 lashes with a wet noodle...." that have a familiar ring?

Hi, Joy, glad you reported in early. I really do check to see that everyone is okay for this day.... I forgot about "going out like a lion"... we are getting the nasty weather a day earlier than you, guess I'd better make sure my kitchen is stocked up. TP was on sale yesterday so I got a Mega package for each bathroom & one for the RV, nearly broke the budget!

Hi Everyone.  It is another rainy morning but the temperature is staying very nice in the mid to high 60's.  We had a very late evening last night as Scott didn't get here until after 7 pm and by the time the pizza was baked it was close to 8 pm, when I normally retire for the night.  He sleeps very well when it is raining and so he didn't hear his alarm and didn't wake up until after 6:30 and then had to go to his store and fix the pizza.  I am not sure what time he went home last evening as I had to retire around 10 pm.  He took care of several small chores for us, which we always appreciate.  I expect him back over this morning for a few minutes.  He won't stay too long as he has to go to work around 4 pm today.  I was so tired I didn't even need to drink my Chamomile tea as went to sleep and didn't get up until after 8 am and am still still exhausted.  So it will be a quiet day for me.

Bubble, thanks for the new page and your graphics are so good.  I also enjoyed the the little stories you shared.

I am sorry but just don't have the energy this morning to make more individual comments.  I found all of the postings interesting.  Maybe tomorrow I will be more up to posting more individual comments.

Jus to want let you know I am ok.  David and I are both not feeling very good so we are taking it easy.  He is having some dizzy spells again and I don't want him to fall so we are not moving around very much.  I think my problem is not serious...just one of those days when I'd rather not move.  I think I will be better tomorrow and feel more like talking.  Take care of yourselves.

Hey, there's PHYLLIS (I'm sorry you don't feel well) and LARRY (I'm sorry you're feeling tired. Get some rest)

SHIRLEY, I'm NOT organized but if I don't make a list, I don't get anything done at all.  At least, when I have a list I know what's left over to do tomorrow. And I remember some of the things I'd otherwise forget!  At least it LOOKS like I'm efficient!

I'm finished with WM for today and I'm going to go try to take care of #13 on my list....A NAP!  That's one thing I'm happy to try to take care of daily!

Get busy....or not....whatever suits your fancy!

I am not sure if this is posted in the right folder or not. Thought it was worth the read...

                                    *COME STROLL WITH ME*

Stroll with me.... close your eyes.... and go back... way back......

Before Internet... before ISIS, before AIDS, before Facebook & Social
Networking

Before Semi-automatics, before School Shootings, before Opioids, before
Super Nintendo...

Way, way, way... back....

I'm talking about sitting on the curb, sitting on the stoop.... about
'Hide-And-Go-Seek'; 'Simon-Says' and 'Red-Light-Green-Light'. Lunch Boxes
with a thermos.... chocolate milk, going home for lunch, penny candy from
the store, Hopscotch, butterscotch, roller-skates with keys, Jacks and
Cracker Jacks, Hula Hoops, Slinkies and sunflower seeds, wax lips &
moustaches,  saddle shoes and Coke bottles with the names of Cities on the
bottom.

Remember when it took five minutes for the TV to warm up; when nearly
everyone's Mum was at home when the kids arrived home from School.... When
nobody owned a purebred dog, when a quarter was a decent allowance, when
you'd reach into a muddy gutter for a penny, When your Mum wore nylons that
came in two pieces, and when all of your Male Teachers wore neckties and
Female teachers had their hair done everyday, and wore high heels.

Remember running through the sprinkler, circle pins, bobby pins, 'Mickey
Mouse Club', 'Rocky and Bullwinkle', 'Kookla, Fran and Ollie', 'Spin and
Marty', 'Dick Clark's American Bandstand' - all on your Black & White TV -
with two knobs - 'Rabbit Ears. You had to get

up to change the channels , and when your Mum made you turn it off when a
storm came!

When around the corner seemed far away, and going Downtown seemed like
really going somewhere. Climbing trees, making forts,  Lemonade stands,
cops a& robbers, cowboys & Indians, staring at clouds, jumping on the bed,
pillow fights, ribbon candy, Jackie Gleason, white gloves, *walking* to the
Movie Theatre, running till you were out of breath, laughing so hard that
your stomach hurt... remember that?

Not 'Stepping on a crack or you'd break your Mother's back'.... the smells
of School, of paste and 'Evening In Paris'.

What about the girl who dotted her i's with hearts?  (before that stupid
smiley face)

The Stroll, popcorn balls and sock hops?  Remember when there were just two
types of sneakers for girls and boys - 'Keds' and 'PF Flyers', And the only
time you wore them at school was for Gym.... and the girls had those ugly
Gym uniforms. When you got your windshield cleaned, Oil checked, and gas
pumped -- without asking -- all for free -- every time. And, you didn't pay
for air either, and got trading stamps to boot!

When laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes, or towels hidden inside
the box.... when the worst thing you could do at School was flunk a Test,
or chew gum, and the Prom was in the Gym and you danced to a real Orchestra.

When they threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed -- and did!

When being sent to the Principal's office was nothing compared to the fate
that awaited you when you got home; basically, we were in fear For our
lives, but it wasn't because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc. Our
Parents and Grandparents were a much bigger threat!

But we survived because their love was so much greater than the threat.

Remember when a '57 Chevy was everyone's dream car -- used to cruise, peel
out, and lay rubber? Remember watching the plastic submarine filled with
baking soda sink in the bath tub?  When people 'Went Steady'; and girls
wore a class ring with an inch of wrapped Band-Aids, Dental Floss, or yarn
coated with pastel-frost nail polish so it would fit their finger.

When no-one ever asked where the car keys were because they were always in
the car, in the ignition, car and house doors were Never locked! Remember
lying on your back on the grass with your friends and saying things like
"That cloud looks like a..." And playing Baseball with no Adults needed to
enforce the rules of the game.

Remember when stuff from the Store came without safety caps and hermetic
seals, because no-one had yet tried to poison a perfect Stranger. And, with
all our progress, don't you just wish, that just once you could slip back
in time and savour the slower pace......And share it with the children of
today?

So share this with someone who can still remember 'Nancy Drew', 'The Hardy
Boys', 'Laurel and Hardy', 'Howdy Dowdy' and 'The Peanut Gallery', 'The
Lone Ranger and Tonto', 'The Shadow Knows', 'Roy Rogers and Dale Evans' -
Trigger and Buttermilk..and even Captain  Jolly .who yeah  know  can
play  indoor  ball. As well as the sound of a real lawnmower on Saturday
morning, and Summers filled with bike rides, baseball games, bowling,
visits to  the pool ... and eating Kool- Aid powder with sugar from the
palm of your hand.

There, didn't that feel good? Just too lean back and say: "Yeah...I
remember......" Pass this on to those who might remember, and to those who
can see what they might be missing.

Good afternoon.

Hope "Third time's a charm" because I've tried twice to post something and got the "This Page Can't Be Shown" message.  (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/angry.png)

The temperature had gone up to 34 degrees earlier but the skies were still gloomy gray. Now the sun is shining.  (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/thumbup.png)  I saw slushy ice falling from wires as I came home from an errand across town.
Not supposed to last, though, because snow and temps in the single digits are predicted for Sunday-Monday.  (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/thumbdown.png)

(Can you tell I've finally figured out how to put in the Emoticons? (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/cheesy.png)  Don't see all the cute ones we used to have, though.)

Shirley,  the quartet of friends who used to find fun places to go for a day or two sometimes went to Branson where one of them had a time=share.  She didn't have a certain condo - just "owned" the right to have one assigned when she called for a reservation.  We had so much fun there.  Lots more to do than just see shows.

Gloria de - have you seen the little ice fishing tents out on Superior on the Two Harbors Boat Launch and Two Harbors Depot cams.  They look like little dark specks way out on the ice.
I've seen people walking across the ice dragging a sled behind them to get to their cars at the Launch.  That does not look like a fun way to spend a day IMO.

I spent a lot of yesterday afternoon browsing through the e-books in the metro library e-book catalog. Now I have about 25 on my "Wish List".  I can find out which ones are available and check them out without hunting for them if I run out of reading material. Also have several "On Hold" that will automatically show up in my Loans when they're available.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable cozy warm weekend.

Amy,  your essay was posted while I was typing.  Sure brought back memories! (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/smiley.png)  Thanks for sharing.

[Callie, yes, I looked at the ice fishing. First thing I do is look at NY Harbor, then Duluth look at Times Sq. all hours, as they say the City Never Sleeps.  I enjoy all the earth coms.

71 years ago this month The Great South Bay froze over, and my husband drove over 5 miles to Fire Island. I do not know when I could have been so mad at him, as it was the day before Dennis was  born. I guess all I can say now, he was 21 and it was a man thing   to say he did it. Never thinking they could have he an air pocket

Sandy,  I no longer see the line of emoticons or the "More" link on either Quick Reply or Reply.  I miss them.

Gloria de,  I also like the Times Square and NY Harbor cams - specially the ones located on the New Jersey shore.  Fun to follow a cruise ship as it leaves Pier 88.  I've learned to switch from the Port cam (shows the pier)  to the Harbor cam (Veranzo Bridge) when the ship turns to the right as it goes down the river.  The Harbor cam picks it up and shows it going past the Statue of Liberty and then coming toward the camera, which pans until the ship goes under the bridge.

On the Port cam - what is the tallest building  that's almost straight across from the camera along the river front ?   I've posted that the cruise ship pier is next to a building that looks like a sideways check mark.  This tall building looks like it had a sideways check mark on its roof.

Just watched the "blind auditions" for The Voice.  A fellow from Hugo Oklahoma has made it to the next round.  No surprise he picked Blake Shelton to be his coach.
Hugo is a small town in the far southeastern corner of the state.  It's known for being a winter home for some small circuses and has an elephant sanctuary for ones that are "retired" from circus performing.

[/GOOD MORNING. i AM UP AGAIN AT 3. I go to bed at 1 and here I am wide awakw befor the roosters.  It is raing here and snowing like crazy in the city.

Callie, I use one Harbor cam  that is from Staten Island. I just finished watching 4 people acting up, as they know the camera is on them, as they wave.  They have been dancing and sliding around. There are two police officers or security watching them,  Must be young people. One seems to have a camera. it is 4:30AM It does not take much to entertain me.
I have had many a cup of coffee in that McD' s you see. Every few month the library runs a bus to the city, called Do As You Please.  Leaves you off on Time Sq. and around 5 or 6 picks you up at the NYC Library. Of course I no longer can do the trips. The park also runs trips for a show and restaurant.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We didn't get the snow that was predicted overnight (YAY!!!) but it's only 23 degrees.  We're still supposed to get a big one overnight into tomorrow.  I would mind if that one missed us, too.

CALLE, I don't see any indication of emoticons either.  I don't even know where you got the ones in your posting.  I haven't seen any indication of them since the new website.

The doggies have been out and we're waiting for the boinger.  After that, breakfast and the day begins.  Cathy isn't going to the Amish store this weekend but I'm thinking of going by myself.  I'll play it by ear.  If I don't feel like going, it can wait.

I wish you all a good day filled with whatever suits your fancy!  Make it your own in every way.

Good morning everyone..

Warmer this morning +6 °F and they are calling for snow later on in the day.

I need to take the van in to the car wash and get the salt/dirt off of it. Laundry day today and baking.

I am glad you enjoyed the "Come Stroll With Me"
Remember you hung your roller skate key on a string around your neck?

Gloria de, you will be needing a cat nap later on in the day. :)

Rick, March came in like a lamb yesterday. The day was just perfect, didn't need a winter coat , just a vest would do.

Callie, do they let the public in to the elephant sanctuary? I think that would be awesome to see.

Better get my get along and get going. Want to be at the car wash early before the  sun starts melting the banks.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone. Snowing again, a heavy wet one this time. Supposed to get 5 inches with this one. Another one tomorrow night ant that one a possible 12 inches of it. Not the first time we had a lot of snow in March. I remember a 17 inch snow on St. Patrick's day. Between the bitter cold and the snow I am getting cabin fever.

JOY we are in for snow on Sunday night, too. I have had enough already. Hope March does go out like a lamb, I have an appointment on the 25th.

SHIRLEY  if I could cook I might add a few pounds but I really do not like TV dinners and my son keeps buying some for me. I eat the parts of them I can and throw away the rest. Sure not like home made food. You are worse than me, I always threaten 10 lashes wih a wet noodle.

LARRY  always good seeing your posts. Seems like every time one of my son comes here I ask them to do something I cannot do.

GLORIA  de  you must be getting this snow this morning. Here it is more along the southern part of the state, unusual.

PHYLLIS  take care of yourself and David, too.

JANE  wish I could get busy again.  I really enjoyed getting to the market last week but it took several days to rest up after. Then I feel lazy and hate that feeling.

AMY  thanks for all the memories you posted, I copied and will send to family and friends. Bet they will enjoy the trip down Memory Lane.

Plow is here already and there is enough snow to plow. Different driver and he lets the plow down softly, not like the ohe other night who let it drop with a loud bang in the middle of the night. Guess he must have thought since he had to be awake he wanted every one to be awake.

CALLIE  only way to have a warm cozy week end here is to stay inside. I used to have a lot of cams to look at but when my grandson last worked on my PC he cleaned everything out so now the only one I have is the Duluth cam.

RAMMEL  snowing now and another bigger snowstorm tomorrow night. The joys of winter.

LLOYD  Amy's post brought back a lot of memories for us.

GLORIA  de  many times I wake around 3am and get up. Those are the days I really need a nap around noon but my CNA gets here at noon

I just got a phone call from a voice I have heard before about a place going out of business and I have a refund coming. I let the machine pick up calls that I do not know the number. This time it is about my social security and the same number to call. The woman's voice sound like she is trying hard to sound like an American. Every time I get these calls they come from a different state. Those scammers must think we just got out of the cabbage patch.

Just looked out and it does not look like the plow had been here. Snow piling up fast.

Have a good day.

Okay, Callie & anyone else that hasn't found all the emots... I love 'em so don't want anyone to go without.  Not sure this will work but give it a try. I did a quick snip of this part of the page, I don't seem the Gallery offering since we are supposed to post photos in the Photos Then & Now.. but this one time will try to bully my way through. If you look at the little row of emots & the word MORE right under the thumbs up one... click on MORE.

Good morning. We had a little bit of snow overnight, and it has cleared off a bit already.  However,  a bigger snow storm is predicted for tomorrow night.   Sure would love winter to be overwith, but we just cannot control "Mother Nature".  She will do what she wants to do, when she wants to.

I have been up for a good while..... had breakfast and taken my meds.

Now, I have to get started on something ?

Nice to see all the early birds here this morning.  I hope you all have a pleasant day.

Joy

Good Morning,

Amy, here are a couple of links to web sites about the elephant sanctuary:

Youtube -elephant sanctuary (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GK5-jMQr1UA)

tours/events elephant sanctuary (https://www.endangeredarkfoundation.org/tours)

Don't know what happened to my first post but notice that Shirley and Jane have posted since I wrote it.

Shirley,  that's what I used to see and loved the "More" options.  Haven't seen either since the "re-do".

Jane,  you have to be using Reply - not Quick Reply - to see what I found.
Above the posting space is a line that reads "Message Icon".  The box next to it that I see says "Standard".
Click the downward arrow and a list of choices appears.  Click the one you want and the icon will appear next to the box.
Right click it and choose "Copy".   Then right-click where you want it in your post and click "Paste".
May be more trouble than it's worth.  :)     (I got this one by typing the : and the )  )

Gloria de,   I notice people on their cell phones and then waving at the camera on the Street View cam for Times Square.   I'm guessing they call someone to find the cam and then watch for them to "say Hello".

Plan du Jour is to Pay Bills.  (no icon for "Bleah"!  )

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Hi Everyone. We do have the sun this morning and should get into the low 70's.  I am going to read all of the postings since yesterday.  Yesterday was not a good day for me in terms of any energy and today seems to be getting the same start.  I will just be having another very quiet day of rest.

CALLIE, I don't use the "quick post" but I thought it might be worth a look if I could find what SHIRLEY was talking about.  I didn't so I'm back to my usual.  And I must be a little dense or maybe it's just today but I sure didn't understand what you said.  I'll go back later and take a look.  Thanks for trying to lead a dumb old lady in the right direction.(https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/smiley.png)  copied and pasted but I still miss the thing SHIRLEY posted.

well Shirley you have too much free time on your hands. the older we get the more we want to fiddle in our second or third child hood. also the easier it is to get stressed out. well i am off my stool now so see you all later. the problem is with our star border is not working out. he is on the road trucking and I think that is where he needs to stay and make lot of $$$$$ catch up on his bills. when he stops by I am going to tell him to take his belongings and find another place to put them. believe me i try to be a good person and try to treat others as I like to be treated. i do not like it when
i let someone use my shop an tools but think when they are done they should put them back where they belong and as good shape as they were when they got them.example i have a exticon cord that ahs a double plug on it. i use it to put two battery chargers on the tractor or dozer at same time, they both have two batterer's. in cold weather they need a boost after setting for long time with out being used. I needed it today and spent over 2 1/2 hours hunting it before i found it in a unlikely place. i was stressed out so no more work out side today. hope you all are having a good day. see you all later.

Callie, could it be that I use Chrome & you may be using something else? My son doesn't like it but it is what I'm used to. I know you love playing with all the stuff.... maybe Michael can think of why they don't show for you. Good luck!  Went to church tonight, got the snow blower in the garage but not going to gas it up unless we have at least 2" on the driveway... put gas in one year & had to dump it without ever needing.... last couple years I didn't even get it out of the shed.  :tissue: (isn't that one cute?)...

Lloyd, "friends" like that nobody needs!  I watched my father & brothers have the same trouble until they quit letting anyone but a trusted person use tools. They never knew I used them & the big table saw often because I put everything back like it was. Cas used to wonder why his saw blades got dull so fast ... I was using his table saw to cut canvas panels into minatures to paint on.... & the inside of the panels was cardboard... not good for saw blades, right?

I saw a robin in the back yard today, sure feel sorry for it, high of 18° tomorrow. Robins don't eat bird seed so I used to feed them scrambled eggs, bread crumbs & cooked scrambled hamburger, the ones that built nests by the house.

Cats are feeling their oats tonight... running around hissing at each other & Tiger doesn't like to play their games so begged to go to the other end of the house. I can trust her but not these other two. Going to have a snack... little ice cream with Hershey's chocolate syrup & pecans.  (eat your heart out, Callie... :2funny:

Shirley,  I do have Chrome on the tablet so that may be it.   Son wants me to get it on the p.c. but I want him to come do it for me.
little ice cream with Hershey's chocolate syrup & pecans.  (eat your heart out, Callie... :2funny:i]
Ah, but is your ice cream from Braum's??  :)   Actually, there's be no competition because I'd be having Hot Fudge sauce and almonds.

Jane,  whatever works best for you is the right thing to do.

I'm going to have a couple of the cookies I didn't take to Bridge on Thursday.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Whatever works best is a good plan but what if nothing works?  I think all my technical stuff is getting old and I have to keep using it.  I don't have a choice.  And I'm afraid to put chrome on this old computer.  Maybe I'll ask the guys the next time it goes in for service.  They always treat me right.

Jane, I fought getting a new computer for years, drove my sons nuts having to get them out of the messes I made 'cause they were too old. Found one in the Walmart where we overnighted in Salida, on sale & like the one Andy has only this one has "touch screen".... his doesn't. It was on sale for $250. & I love it!  Keep checking with your computer department & watch for a sale....

Actually, Callie, mine was plain old ice cream, not Braums....haven't been to Braums for weeks. My kids & grands stopped there after church tonight but it was getting dark so I came on home. They have good food as well as good ice cream.

Joy, sending the cold & snow your way but will try to save some of it for me this time.

Amy, can your snow blower waltz?  I hope to give mine a try tomorrow. Tom is crunching the dry food, can hear him chewing all across the room.... he thinks it is time for their midnight snack.

Cats fed, news on & I am heading to bed. Sweet dreams to all, hope June feels like checking in tomorrow, maybe just a computer acting up~~~   Larry, hope you have a better tomorrow. I got my report back from the Echo, not as good as I would have liked so will think about what I am willing to do. Tonight I do not want to think so will go to bed and plan to sleep in.... and wake up to snow! Sweet dreams and God Bless.

Good Morning Everyfriend.  I'm up, have my coffee and the doggies have had their pills.  I have to go get my shower and get ready for church as soon as I finish my coffee.

No, JENNY, I didn't go to the Amish store.  About the time I should have been getting ready to go, it started to snow really hard and steady.  So I ditched the plan.  As it turned out, it only lasted about 15 minutes and it never laid on the roads or sidewalks.  I could have gone.  But I don't take those chances any more.

I make make a quick stop at someone's deli on the way home from church.  I need lunch meat for my sandwiches that I take to work with me.  However, if I can make it through Monday, there's a new store opening right on my main route to "almost anywhere".  It's owned and run by Mennonites and is supposed to have a very extensive deli and bakery.  I'm definitely planning on attending the Grand Opening.  All the baked goods will be made by the Mennonites right on the premises.  Sounds like a winner to me!  And all summer they will have farm fresh produce grown locally.  Ummmmm! Ummmmm!  I can almost taste it now!

Coffee's done.  I'm off to get dressed.  Enjoy your day!

I will get out as soon as is light enough and feed the cattle. and come back and be a couch jockey today. maybe fiend a good western movie to watch. hope everyone has a good day just as they like today.

Good morning everyone..

Bright sunny day out this morning. We had a light dusting of snow last night not worth starting the music to dance with the snowblower though.

Yesterday I did accomplish jobs that I am not really fond of.....cleaning the fridge and the oven. This stove has a self cleaning oven and I would rather have the manual one as I can get it cleaner than what this self cleaning does.

Today, we need to take some ashes away to the dump then the day is ours. I may have to check in on the neighbour as she is sick with a dandy cold!! I don't go over as I don't want to bring it home to Kyle. This new med lowers his immune system.

Shirley, YES! If I hold on one part???(Don't know the name of it....sort of like skid steer, it will swing me around! First time I did it I really had to keep my feet under me.

Better get going, I slept in  this morning :)

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone. Sun is shining but it is cold and I cannot seem to get warm, even turned the heat up. Feel like I have something in my right eye and it keeps watering. Started bothering me yesterday in the late afternoon. Hard to read anything so I will not be replying to anyone. Just heard the snow will start about 7 tonight and the rush hour in the morning will be treacherous. Hope my son stays home. He has a hill to go up leaving his house and he might not be able to make it up with the company van.

By noon yesterday the roads were all just wet froing snow. From what I just heard about the storm tot it will be a fluffy snow so pile up higher than the wet snow of yesterday. Maybe that is why the said 12 inches of it.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. We will be in the mid-70's this afternoon and there is a 100% chance of rain around 5 pm.  Otherwise it will be a cloudy day.  I have had a couple of very tired days where I didn't feel like doing anything, including using my iPad when in my easy chair.  I am not sure today is going to be any better.  I had a very good nights sleep but just getting ready to face the day has left me tired (same old story).  I don't seem to be making any progress for recovery but will continue to be optimistic that better days are ahead.  I have read the postings since yesterday but am going to pass on individual comments once again.

well it is still snowing, real fine and light. not much depth about a little over 1", but the wend is strong out of the north.I don't know who is right north of us to blame it on. oh well I will get up enough nerve to get out and feed the cattle after while. have a great day. dose not look like we will get enough to make snow cream so I guess AMY wil have to do the honers for us and tell us how good it is.

Nice church service, nice coffee hour after with good conversation.

Came home and saw to the doggies needs and put some things away.  Now it's almost time for lunch and I'm ready for that.  Our snow is supposed to start here around 1 and continue for about 7 or 8 hours.  That could be trouble.  Like I said before, I wouldn't mind if Mother Nature changed her mind and dumped it on the other side of the mountain!

I have a whiny dog under the desk telling me she's ready for a snack.  So I guess I'll go get my lunch and give them a snack.

LLOYD, if there was a man around here to snuggle me, he'd have to go home before bed time.  The doggies have been my bed mates for  most of their lives and I don't think they'd like it if someone tried to take their spot.  Come to think of it, I'm not sure I'd like that either.

Have a good day everyfriend!

It has been such a peaceful day, sun is shining so bright that even with our chill index below zero, the snow is melting. Not going to gas up the snow blower, got maybe 2" here. I got up about 5:00 am, had a bowl of oatmeal & 2 slices of toast & went back to bed, slept until 10:00. Need to get in gear to do laundry & mop over these wooden floors. I really have neglected those duties lately.

Well, Father Dan reminded us that Ash Wednesday is this week so I'd better hurry up & finish off that box of Russell Stover turtles before then.... do have another box in the frig downstairs but will forget about it until Easter! The church was packed & running out the doors last night with folks like me that usually go early Sunday mornings. Sure glad we went last night, I'm in for the duration! Just plain lazy~~ :-[

Hope everyone finds their way to check in this morning..... anyone have time to tell the folks over in Photos that they are welcome to join us in here.... Since Jack announced he was "signing out", not many posting. He was the one that tried all the new perks with Windows 10 for video & photos, a big help to me.

Oh, Amy, I copied that robin to send a friend of mine. Every year we have a "first robin report"... I saw one out back yesterday so called her. Have to wonder where it is finding food today... probably like the one in your pic. I just burst out laughing when that scrolled by!

Guess I had better get busy, Sunday or not, when things need doing & the body is willing, just DO IT!

Gloria, was thinking about your kids & their "pioneer ways", you did something right! One started an orchard from scratch & the other homesteading in the boonies of AZ, how neat is that??? Takes courage to "build" a new life.

Well, this time Mother Nature chose to dump it on us.  Since around 2 p.m.  it's been snowing a fine, steady snow and at first it was only laying on the grass and stones but it's beginning to lay on the roads and sidewalks now.  I think we might be in for it.  It's suppose to last until sometime after midnight.  I don't think I'll stay up and watch for I to stop.

I have to work tomorrow but not until 11 a.m. and I'm sure my nice neighbor will have me snow blown out by then.

Have to go fee the doggies....me too.  Enjoy your evening!  By the way....Television stinks has very little to offer these days!

So far all we have had is very light snow fall....but not for long. I just came in from walking the pup and it has started up with a light snow/rain?? I hope we don't get a lot and Jane you don't need any!!

Lazy day here, gathered what I am to take to the city tomorrow...guess you can say I got all my ducks in order.  Now with the pup I have to take his food and water along with the big water jug for Babe.  We did get a garbage pail of ashes taken to the dump.

Jane, yes , you're right...not much worth watching on tv. I am watching Oak Island Mystery on Mon and find that interesting for now.

I forgot to check today, thank you Mycheal. Beautiful bird but looks so cold. I've never been watching when the male shows up with food.  I was watching one nested near my house a few years ago when the male dropped down into the lake below, I heard a duck squawk but happened so fast all I saw was the male taking food to the nest. I quit looking, know it is life in the wild but I felt sorry for the duck. They aren't nesting at that spot anymore.

Good morning everyone..

The snow stopped   No dance this morning other than happy dance!!

We are off to the city this morning to do a bit of shopping then met daughter in love for lunch. Son has gone back out on the road this morning or he would have joined us.

I have yet to see the male eagle but he must drop food off to her??? We did see 1 eagle at the dump yesterday and I wondered where the other 3 were, maybe they too are sitting on nests?? We no longer see feral cats at the dump and I am sure that is because of the eagles. We take our pup out on a leash, when he ages to a good size then maybe he can go one his own in the fenced yard.

Still no sign of our June..or Phyliss and Joy?? February 23 rd was the last time June posted.

Larry hope today is a better day for you.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  AMY, I've been wondering how long it's been since JUNE posted but I hadn't checked yet.  That's pretty long for her to be gone.  I worry about her all the time.  A while back, I printed her picture and I have it hanging in my office so I think of her several times a day.

The roads have been plowed and there's not enough on my driveway to worry about.  If Steve doesn't get to it, I'll just barrel through it.  I'm not going to try to shovel AND work at WM all in one day.  I know my limits.

We're waiting for the doggies boinger and I'm thinking about getting my shower while I wait.

Tomorrow is the Grand Opening for a new Mennonite store right down the road from me.  I've heard it's a combination On Premises Bakery, Deli and Fresh Produce place with some other items for convenience.  I'm going to the Grand Opening tomorrow and see for myself.  Since it's right on my through track to most of my places, I've been watching it go up since they began building last Fall.   Should be interesting.  Fun, too.

I hope you all have a great day, safe trip, productive time, feel better, stay warm, whatever it is that pleases you.  And  I hope we hear from our missing persons....especially JUNE!

I think I'm awake.  The process is pretty slow this morning.  I slept very well last night and apparently I don't want to give that up yet. :sleepy:

Not hearing from June is bothering me, too.  I hope we hear something soon.  And, thank you, Larry, for checking in even when you don't feel like saying very much. You are on my mind, too.

Yesterday was a sunny but cold day outside and inside it was calm, relaxed day.  And then rain came in again late in the evening.  Rain was not heavy and we escaped the high winds.  Today it is cloudy and dreary but not raining.

I agree on how terrible television programing is now.  I watched a little golf yesterday afternoon but mostly just read.  I find that I don't watch very much cable tv but spend quite a lot of time viewing something on a streaming channel such as Netflix, etc. I am very close to cutting the cord to the tv programing I get from Spectrum.  Disgusted at the quality of tv that I get for the high cost.  I have better places to spend my money.

Breakfast and laundry are calling so must get on with my day.

Good morning everyone, still snowing and it looks like we got  the 10 inches predicted. The pine trees look beautiful. Looks like the snow is not fluffy like was predicted. Just now on the news they showed one of the reporters outside making snowballs and the wind blew snow off branches he was standing under and you could hardly see him with the small white out around him. Looking out it is beautiful. Just the kind kids would be out enjoying. Just heard we have 16 inches of snow. No wonder it looks beautiful.

LARRY  sorry to read you are still tired. Recovery is slow but you are still with us. That we thank God for.

LLOYD  sure enough nice snow here for you r snow cream but I am not about ready to go out and get the snow. If I bundled up enough to keep warm I would not be able to bend over and scoop
some up.

JANE  hope you do not have to go to work today. I was watching a woman here clean her car ad then try to get out of her parking spot and she got stuck trying to move the car.

SHIRLEY  I must admit I used to love checking photos and always admired Jack for his knowledge of new things to do. He had offered to do a slideshow of some pictures I had but before I could even answer him SN shut us out. Wish you were here now. You could take your sno donut out and slide on some of the hilly places here. My daughter has that courage you mentioned. She always was a brave girl.

Does anyone have June's son's email or her DIL's website? I used to have it but when this lemon was cleared back to original I lost them.

PHYLLIS  I was awakened too early with the plow here. He lets the plow fall so hard  I will be surprised if the pavement starts to crack. I was awakened by that guy much too early.

LLOYD 30° now but by this time tomorrow we might be down to 10° according to the weather guesser.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  We are to have a cloudy and much cooler day today with it staying the mid-50's although the sky is currently clear and we have  sun at the moment.  We had a lot of rain yesterday and in the late afternoon we and other areas around us were in a tornado warning areas.  We were ok but the area just North of us had two people hurt and trees down and property damage.  Just checking in this morning.  I took a shower this morning and it left me pretty exhausted, which isn't saying much.  I will just take things easy once again today, which seems to have become my way of life.

Good morning to all !

Amy, I always think I have posted, but sometimes I only post over in the Bait and Tackle board.  I just don't always post in both places. But, I do usually post in one or the other.

We lucked out on the snow. Didn't get as much as we were supposed to, but it is to be very cold all week.

I slept in a little bit and now am in a rush to get through here, as I need to get myself dressed, as today I get my hair done.

So, I will just say that I wish everyone a wonderful day....Try to enjoy the day doing whatever you have planned.

Joy

I've been home for a bit.  WM wasn't very busy today.  Everyone must have done their shopping over the weekend getting ready for the BIG snow.  It did snow but it didn't last.  It snowed for about 4 hours before it began to lay on the roads, driveways, and sidewalks.  There wasn't even enough on my driveway to bother shoveling.  It was only what I've always called "drive over" snow.

Now I'm going to go check out the zzzzzs on the sofa and see if any will attach themselves to me.  Tomorrow is going to be a busy day with no chance of checking zzzzs.

No June yet?  Darn?  I sure hope and pray she's OK...just tired!

Has been a long day but a fun day. Costco wasn't busy so we made good time in there  and met up with daughter in love for lunch. A stop at Fabricland where I found out  my membership had lapsed. So after renewing my membership I left them some money! Also had to renew our Costco membership so now we are good to go till next year.

Power was still off until 4:05 pm . Now they have the lines all up on new poles and running. We didn't have to listen to the generator for long   but thankful to have it at times like this.

Jane, are you out making snow angels?? Our WM in the city is going more towards the self check out and I refuse to use them One lady was looking after 12 tills! That is 11 jobs gone. Told the girl that I won't use them rather talk with her. :)

Better put some groceries away..

Amy, I honestly never thought about the self-check outs causing job loss.... that's a big DUH... I use them most of the time because the people monitoring them are always so friendly & chat or help when not busy with someone else. I use the other lines when only one or two ahead of me.

Oh, Gloria, wouldn't it be fun to have that much snow to slide down the hill on????  I really would take turns with you, picture it... two old broads dying laughing as we slide down a hill!  Someone with the white coats would be waiting for us at the bottom, you think?  :2funny:

Jane, I had the drive over snow today as well.... didn't even take the shovel to make the edge of the driveway, something I normally do because I have sprinkler heads pretty near that edge & have driven over them before.  ::) The chill index was below zero all day so not the kind of weather to play in.

I called my doctor's nurse today to explain about the Echo test results & my plan of attack. She is a sweetie & let me get the whole story out, why going to him & not the cardio for meds. Want to get rid of the sinus problems before trying another type blood pressure med... got to do something as the internet tells me that a top number of 40 is very bad... and mine is at 60, time to get serious. BP is one thing that does a number on this one valve. Anyway, first things first, BP has always been high but I have been very bad lately with salt, chips & cheese puffs, etc. I will cut back, will do whatever I can before trying more pills. Awful when the side effects are scarier than the problem.

Hi to all, have cats wanting attention so will be back later to visit. Everyone take care & thanks for all that have checked in..... as I have always told my kids, "I don't want to waste my worrying!"

I'm on my way to Dreamland.  I have a busy day tomorrow beginning with doggie care and then a visit to the Grand Opening of the new Mennonite store right down the road from me.  I'm eager to see what they have to offer.  One of their vendors checked out through my line on Friday and clued me in.  It's going to be a fresh produce, deli and on site bakery with some other things that go with the deli and bakery items.  I'm guessing thing like bread, milk, coffee, tea and other drinks.  I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I'm still missing JUNE!  God protect her, please!

Good night to everyone else and I'll see you tomorrow!  May God bless us, every one!

P.S.  SHIRLEY and GLORIA, If you don't invite me to the sledding party, I'm going to be very offended and I might not smile for several days!

Good morning everyone.
Mercy me tis cold out -15° F. VON day today and after she leaves it will be in town to pick up our tax papers as they are done, then drop off scripts at the pharmacy. While there I might as well get my second shingles shot. I have been putting it off when I know snow is coming and don't need the sore arm while snow blowing.

Jenny, hope your Dad is feeling better.

Ok ladies, I am also in on the sledding party. Used to do a lot of it in the winter and in the summer we used flattened cardboard to slide down the hill. We were lucky as the hill was in walking distance for us.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I had an email from Jackie/Vanilla some time during the night and she says there is something "at the bottom" where you can see who has visited the site even if they don't post.  She said that June's name is there.  To her, that indicates that she visited but maybe was unable to post.  I'm going to check it out after I post.  If any of you know what she's referring to, clue me in because I don't know.

I have to get my day started.  Lots to do before my meeting this afternoon.  Meeting is here so....cleaning, putting stuff away, whatever needs attention.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend! Make I your own all the way!

It is a little encouraging that June at least looked in to S&F.  I hope she will feel like posting something to us the next time she looks in.

Everything going along OK here so far today.  Of course, it's early yet and who knows what the rest of the day may bring.  Only good things, I hope.

I'm working on taxes and hope to get those finished in a couple of days.  Not a job that I enjoy.  But, who does?

Take care, All.

Hi Everyone. Another beautiful morning although cloudy but the sun is suppose to shine this afternoon with a high of 53.  Pat has gone to a routine doctor's appointment but shouldn't be gone too long.  Today is the day I have to fill my medicine boxes but it a job I always dread for some strange reason.  I am beginning to wonder when I will turn the corner and begin to feel better.  Our Sunday School class had a chili party last evening and friends brought us containers of chili and soup and corn bread that were left so we have meals prepared for several evenings.  Once again I have read all of the postings but am just going to check in as not up to making individual comments.

Good  morning.  ANother cold morning, but the sun is shining

Just want to say Hi   and  let you all know that I am up and "at em",  LOL

I need to get a move on , as I am going out a little later to get my taxes done.  Won't take  me too long,  and I will stop and pick up something to bring home for dinner.  Right now, I am thinking about the Shrimp Special dinner from Popeye's.  Fried butterfly shrimp with fries,  biscuit and coleslaw.  Then,  I  will play cards tonight.

Always glad to see you show up Larry. I have  not  had any chili for a long time. The corn bread goes good with that.

Have a pleasant  day.

How about we all take a cyber trip to visit Gloria with all that snow... find a hill and have fun!!!  Y'all come, I will find enough of these Sno-Nuts for everyone.  They were made by Flexible Flyer about 35 years ago, about how long I've had this one. Great design with the hand holds on each side so you can flip it under your seat and then sit down on the top of the hill & go sailing down. Keep feet out front, they are your brakes!  "Picture it".  Great memories last forever.... bring 'em on......  :snowball:  :snowman:

Good evening, got my PJ's on ready for bed, but of course I had to check in here to see what is going on. To morrow is the first day of Lassies,(women's club in park) so will be a luncheon at the club house. I do not think I will make it, as they are saying coldest day of the year and high winds, Even though I have my push mobile, it s a little walk from the parking lot. I also would have to take my oxygen because of the cold. Next day is RH luncheon at Irish Pub, and then of course every
Friday is Homemakers.  That's my social life for the month.  I have not been out in a couple of weeks.

Jenny safe trip.
Jane, I am anxious to hear about the new store.
I am glad to read there has been a sighting of June,  Must be computer problems
I am just going to say Good Night to all Larry, Amy, MaryAnn and Marilyn and all my other cyberfriend.  Taffy is already in bed waiting.  I think it is 15 degrees, so will be pulling the covers up high.Carol and shirley, Marilyne see you to morrow

At 10:22 Junes name is no longer on the list as here. This might be an indication she logged  off. Keep an eye open to see if she comes back on.

The list showed June as Viewing the .xml  --- What is that?

Mycheal - If a person doesn't log off, but leaves the site (as shutting down at night), will the name remain on the list?

I seem to remember one time when JUNE told us that she'd been able to read but couldn't post and then another time that her big computer wasn't working and she had not been able to post from her laptop/tablet whatever it is she has.  She also said once that she had been feeling bad and was just reading from her laptop/tablet but not posting.  I hope that's not the case.  I'd rather her computer would be ill than June herself.

This day is over not and I'm going to bed.  It's been a bet stressful but ended on a pretty good note.

I was mistaken about the new store opening or they had come complications and set it back a day.  Anyway, it's tomorrow and, GLORIA DE I'll be sure to report.  I don't go to work until 11 and I'm going to try to get going early and visit them before I go to work.  I know I won't feel like going after and I'm really curious to see what they have.

I wish you all a GOOD night and may God bless us, every one!

GOOD EVENING from Sun City Arizona.  We arrived here safe and sound. My daddy sure is not doing well at all.  He looks like a shriveled up little OLD man! 😢. It has been just over two months since were here last and the change in him is shocking.

We left our house a half hour earlier than we thought we should.....good thing we did as there was a accident on our way they slowed us down a good half hour or more.  Then when we got to security there was another BIG delay.  It seemed to be caused by a lack of TSA Agents.  We always have TSA Approved on our birding passes, which means we would not have to take our shoes off.....we always seemed to sail right through security.  Oh, and we would not have to take our iPads out of the bag.....well today we had our bag pulled aside because we did not remove the iPads.  It took over a half hour before they checked the bag.....the bag before us had 12 baby bottles with water in them and they tested each one of them individually.  So by the time we caught the train out to the gate the plane was already loading....  I am in a wheelchair so they took us right away, but we were still more than half way back in the plane.  The flight was delightful and it was SO green as we got closer to Phoenix.  A beautiful sight!

I feel better to read that it appears Our June has been logged in.  I do hope that means that she is OK and just not able to post for some reason.  IF you are able to see this, please know that you are missed terribly!  I sure wish you could let us know you are OK.  HUGS❣️

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND!

Jenny

Good morning everyone.

Goodness, tis -30°F this morning, no lingering outside for sure today. Taking hubby to physio then stopping to see when the garage can do an oil change , spark plugs and maybe change the transmission fluid also.

Need to do some cleaning and get bread made. We will be losing our power again on Thur while they complete the new lines.

Jenny, I am sorry to read about your Dad. Plus the delaying time you had at the airport. All stressful situations.

Gloria, where are you? Hope you are ok.

Jane, I would love to go with you to the store.I would imagine they will have a lot of things that one wouldn't find in any other store. Wonder do they cure their own meats?

Better get a move on.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend.  This is going to be a short greeting because I want to go get my shower and get dressed before the boinger goes off to feed the doggies.

I slept better last night than I have in a long time and I feel better this morning.

JENNY, I'm sorry to hear about your father but I guess that's what we all have to look forward to when we reach our 90s.  Life changes but he's had a lot to face in the past few years. It's so nice that you can be there for him when he needs you.  You're a good daughter.

It's 11º right now and not supposed to get above 22 today.  Brrrrrr!  Not as cold as where AMY is but too cold for me!  Then this coming weekend we are supposed to have temps in the 50s.  Go figure!  The weather is stranger every day!

I'm off to the showers!  Have yourselves a great day full of the love of family and friends!  Make it your own in every way.

JUNE!  If you look in today, we sure do miss you!

Good morning, Amy and Jane.  You are our early birds and it is always nice to be able to see your names when I greet the new day.  I just wish that today did not include a dental appointment for me for a broken tooth.  That probably means a crown is going to be necessary.  Oh, well, it is what it is.

Jenny, I'm sorry to hear about your dad but I know he is glad to have  you there with him in AZ.

I hope so very much that we hear from all our friends, including June.  Must admit that I am worried about her long absence.

Stay warm and well, Everyone.

I'm here as well and so eager for that new store to open, Jane, would love to have one like it here! I was "born to shop!"

Aw, Jenn, so sorry to hear your father has taken such a down swing, I watched my father do that after Mother died. He just gave up and did not keep his muscles strengthened enough to hold the bones in place. A hip broke standing with his feet planted on the floor & twisted his body and the bone snapped. We had all "preached" to him about exercising by sitting on a chair, any way possible, but he didn't want to. It is so sad to watch someone give up but I believe they reach a stage where all we can do is hold their hand and comfort, love and make the days as peaceful and happy as we can. Remind him of the fun times you had with him growing up, what a good father he was. Not easy and advice is cheap, as they say, hard to try to think happy with a lump in your throat. Hugs and tears for these days.

Lloyd, I am another that used to get by with only a few hours sleep but not working anymore. I need my sleep and naps and hate to be rushed... but I still love to GO!

Good morning Phyllis... are you doing better except for that broken tooth?  My stomach did a flip at that job....hope you have a dentist you are comfortable with, poor guys, everyone dreads seeing them.  :tissue:

Amy, I'm not making bread but did run to the store yesterday when a friend said she bought a 6 lb + size chicken to bake/roast..... sounded so good I can hardly wait to get it on. This one is slightly under 7 pounds & I do have my mother's old cast iron Dutch oven to bake it in. I can picture hers coming out with the skin stretched tight, golden brown & smelled so good. Trouble is, I never took time to watch how she fixed them. (another boo-hoo). I will see if my ancient cook book recommends what temp.... I've baked plenty of turkeys over the years but never a chicken!
I just realized that this is Ash Wednesday... that chicken will not hit the oven until tomorrow!!! BIG boo hoo!

Well, cats waiting for breakfast, Callie & Tom had to go out for a few minutes, they didn't leave the pool area so came back in to use the litter box....  :bonk:  :dontknow:

OK Everyone, Joy sent me June's  Son's address. I did email him and hope he will answer if he is not too busy.
pastor@sbcwestminster.org

I know we are all worried about her and pray she is OK.

RAMMEL  I never sign out and shut my PC down every night. Something I never thought of doing I just finish here in the SS and go on to different things.

JENNY  Good thing you left early for the airport. Sorry you found such a big change in your Dad. Being in constant pain sure does not help.

AMY  I am here, just late. I did not look see how cold it is here this morning, I know it is well below freezing.

JANE  the weather this year is weird all over. Saw on the news earlier them shoveling snow in northern CA. away from fire hydrants. That after the record breaking rain out there this winter. Hope you get to that store and it is everything you hope it is.

LLOYD  we did a lot of foo things when we were young. I think now we are paying for it.

Have a good day

Thank you, Gloria, for contacting June's family.... I'm glad Dori could read your messages to her. I think OUR world is in a very sad period because of our age but also because of the hate and mistrust of the times. We can't stop growing old and reaching the date we all live for, that last day on earth.

I feel a real joy that when one of our classmates was told he had 6 months to live, we decided we would have his wake while he could enjoy it. He was delighted knowing how many friends would make the effort to celebrate his life. Three years later he is still alive, only God knows when our time is up and with great admiration for my classmate, he is grateful for the extra years, not bitter because of a mis-diagnosis, and even more pleased that we didn't wait until he was gone to visit him.

June, if someone is reading this for you or if you are lurking and don't feel like talking (typing), without doubt, you are loved and missed. God is with you day and night, HE loves you, I know you BELiEVE. Hope you feel up to visiting with us soon.

I wrote this right after you posted, Gloria, but forgot to post. Got busy & here it is supper time. Cats have been fed but not Shirley.  Hope everyone had a good day... and maybe Janie will cheer us up with details about that new store!

Sorry, I've done nothing but "lollygag" ever since I got home from work.  I'm still very tired and I'm going to bed.  Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I haven't even felt like reporting so I'll tell you about Davy's Fresh Market tomorrow.

Good night my friends and a special Good Night to you, JUNE.  God be with all of you!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I did wake up feeling somewhat better from a good sleep.  Don't know why it got me so bad yesterday.  All I wanted to do was sleep.

I did get to DAVY'S before work and it's a gorgeous store.  It's squeaky clean and the produce is displayed so that you can make choosing what you need and easy job.  Their on premises bakery did themselves proud with the pies they had....large family size and individual.  They had rolls and bread and cupcakes and cookies, whoopie pies and almost anything you'd want and they were giving away a free sticky bun.  There was an aisle with all kinds of spices and one with candy.  They had hoagies already made up and they would make them as you wish if you asked.   The deli was well stocked and had almost anything you could want or need.

This store is on my regular path from my house to and from almost anywhere I go in town.  Almost forgot, they have a dairy case with all the regular stuff.  I'll be making frequent stops at this one.

I noticed that they have a very nice covered patio with tables and chairs on one side and I'm guessing there will be local fresh produce in the bins and shelves on the other side all summer.

Do you all feel like you've been there with me?  I was thinking of all of you!

Today I'll be finishing the bill paying, changing my bed and cooking a decent dinner.  The rest of the day will be filled with "odds and ends" and also some of "this and that".  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!  Make it yours.

P.S. AMY, it doesn't sound like Jesse got hurt when he fell off the bed.  I worry about Mickie doing that because she's so restless at night and she really likes the edge!

Not my favorite place either, Amy, but it went better than expected.  He was able to take the broken part of the tooth (which I had saved) and "glue" it back in.  It was expensive but I didn't have to have a crown...which I was afraid of.  So all is well for now and I celebrated as soon as I got home with a cup of tea and a nap. ;D

I loved reading about your new DAVYs store, Jane.  And, I'm envious.  It sounds like just the place I would really enjoy.

I'm relieved to get some news about June by way of Gloria.  I'm sorry she has been too ill to post a message to us but grateful that Dori is with her and has let us know what is happening.  June is such a fighter..I pray she can come back from this latest set-back.

Shirley, you sounded to me as if you were a little down yesterday.  I hope today you will be back to your usual bright and "upbeat" self.  Slow down and be good to yourself.  You deserve some TLC.

Sun is shining but it is a little nippy out there.  It should warm up by the time I have to go get my hair cut.

I haven't said this for awhile.....MAKE it a good day, Everyone!

Hi Everyone on a beautiful sunny day with expected temps in the low 60's. Just checking in once again today as am very weary this morning even though I had a good night's sleep.  Scott was here last night for several hours and will be back this evening. Joy and Gloria, thank you both for helping us here something of our beloved June.  Dori, thanks for getting that information to Gloria.  This group has a tendency to worry a lot when there is silence from someone who has been a frequent poster and your MIL has been for many years.

Good morning.  I am just marking my place.  Too early for any special news. I am moving very slow this morning.  It is pretty sunshine, but oh, still so cold.

Larry, good to see you here already this morning.

Jane, that store sounds so neat.  Sure wish I was closer, although we do have a couple Amish farmers markets not too far from me where we got to.  But, the are different than just a regular Amish market.  The farmers markets have non-Amish vendors, also.

Will check back later in the day.   Enjoy your day.  Glad to hear the news from June and sure hope she is feeling lots better today.

Good morning everyone. one on the coldest ones this season. 10° but feels like -1°. right minus 1. I sure am glad I do not have to go out in it.

SHIRLEY  your old classmate had the love and visits from friends while alive. That is better than a wake after God took‫  him home tell my family I want no wake. I rather people visit when I can enjoy them.

AMY  the sun has been nice the last couple of days and you can see in places where the snow melted but not by much. With the temperatures so cold the sun isn't doing much to warm us up.

JANE  wow would I love a store like the new one you have. Looks like it will be your favorite place to shop id the prices are right.

Better go have my breakfast before it is time for lunch.

Have a good day.

I didn't zero in on all the prices at Davy's yesterday but I took the slip for the two things I bought out of my wallet today.  A half pound of deli sliced honey ham was 1.49 and a 4 oz. package of cream cheese was 1.45.  I'm not sure is the cheese price is good but I KNOW the ham price is good for around here.

Jane,  I did look up the website for the Davy's Fresh Market  and from the pictures,  it looks like such a nice store.

I noticed that they had a good amount of the bulk seasonings, spices, and all the usual  bulk items,  And, the produce looked beautiful.  It  did remind me of the Amish markets that I have been to.

There is one in Cockeysville, right off of I-83.  And, the one in Shrewsbury and of course, there is Roots Market in Manheim and the Green Dragon.  Those two are big inside and outside markets....not necessarily Amish markets, but do have a lot of Amish vendors.  I do like the one in Shrewsbury.  The produce stand there looks a lot like the one in the picture of the Davy's store. Is it not necessarily an Amish store?  It sure does look like a nice place  the plans for then greenhouses sound nice also.  And, nice that it looks like they will have a nice area to eat outside.   I think the price for your ham was good, and was the cream cheese in bulk form or a package?  I think it was probably a good price, because a package of Philadelphia cream cheese is only 3 oz. and I think I paid a little moren than what you paid.  Anyway,  I know it sure looks like a place where you will enjoy going.

JOY, I went to look at the package of cream cheese I bought and it's a box like the Philly but it's and 8 oz. box.  And the maker is a place called Walnut Creek Foods out of Walnut Creek, Ohio.  And I read it wrong the first time.  It was $1.49.

I've completed my chores and the doggies are quiet so I think I'll join them and catch a few zzzs.  I still have dinner to make and a little paper work but that can wait.

Power is still off, generator is humming along.
Jane our cheese is 2.99 so I would say that is a great deal!!!

Met my friend for tea and came home with 4 + totes filled to the bring of quilt material!!! I have left it in the van for now when I put the van away I will bring it in. Garage door is power operated and although one can manually open it I will wait, they said the power would be back on by 4 pm.

Thank  goodness for the cookstove for heat and eat :)

I just used a pkg of cream cheese and onion soup mix to make a dip for cauliflower......yummy!

I've been & read several times today but kept getting side tracked. Amy, every time I read back over I stop to smile & giggle at Jesse falling off the bed. The cats have done that before but they land on their feet, look embarrassed & strut off like, "I meant to do that!"

Phyll, think you are right, I was a little down yesterday but have "bucked up" and ready to tangle with the world. I did get news of another cousin that died today, think she was 91, such a sweet person. Find it hard to believe so many passing away in such a short time. Thanks for noticing.... I don't usually let myself get down but been one of those weeks. Glad you got the tooth taken care of with a little less stress than first feared.

Jane, Davy's store would be my "therapy", spending time just looking around. Sounds fantastic, thanks for "painting the picture" for us.  Sounds like good prices to me.

Gloria, I got my chicken on to bake at noon & it was done about 3:30, falling off the bone, I'd love to can this aroma for the days & weeks I don't cook.  Tasted yummy, made the gravy & Stove Top stuffing, got out a jar of Aunt Nellie's pickled beets but didn't take time to fix mashed potatoes, will do that tomorrow. Need to go run some of the bones down to the river for whatever critter removes it about as soon as I turn my back.  I put some in each of the cats supper dishes, along with raw hamburger & they turned their noses up & left it!  All are outside now so will not give to other critters until they have a second chance to eat.  I really was offended at their attitude.  They will get one more meal of canned Friskies before they go to bed. Not much spoiled, huh?

Hi to all, Gloria de, Larry, June, Joy, Lloyd, anyone else looking in.  Oh, I am signed if "forever" so don't know if that shows up as always being online. I quit turning my computers off overnight since my sons say they never do, so updates can come in any time. Makes sense.  I know I will look in before going to bed but right now I need to take those chicken scraps to the river bank, lock up the RV, son came back over to check the tires while it is a little warmer. Did need some air added.  Not sure if I will get to my cousin's funeral, depends on when & time of day, but glad to have it ready to roll.

If I'm even close with my figures, $2.99 Canadian is about $3.80 or so American so that was a pretty good deal.  Tomorrow, I'm going to swing by and see what WM's price is on an 8 ounce box of cream cheese.

Shirley, I can't believe those finicky cats turned up their noses at your "chicken special".  Their "mother" must really spoil them.

I'm off to bed pretty soon.  Tomorrow is a work day and I plan to get there rested and ready.  So I'll say Good Night now and may God bless us, every one.

I am just getting back in to say Good Night.  I did play cards tonight, and, as usual, we didn't win/  Although it was a close game.  We only lost by 5 points tonight.  The other night we wound up being 1,000 points in the hole.  We just can't seem to get ant good cards.  But it is just a game, after all.

Jane, I think the pkg. of Philadelphia cream cheese for 8 oz. was $1.83.   But this was from Weis, and they are higher than Wal-Mart.   Whichever it was, you got a good buy !  I checked to see how far Lewisburg is from me and it would take about 2 1/2  hours, but straight up I-83 to Harrisburg  and then Rt. 15 to Lewisburg.   Might try to take a day trip sometime this summer.

Hope everyone will have a good, restful night  and don't let  the bedbugs bite !!!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  First and foremost, JOY, that would be great to see you.  My daughter lives in Frederick and I've already told her that if I get there this summer, we're going to make arrangements to go where you are for lunch one day so I can meet you face to face.

If you do get up this way, I'll show you Davy's and the Amish Store and whatever else you want to see!

We (the doggies and I) are waiting for the boinger so we can have breakfast and then I'll be getting ready for work.  It won't be such a difficult day today because they told me to bring my computer glasses.  I have about an hour of computer work to do and that's sitting down.

Cathy already told me that she'll be going to the Amish store this weekend and I have my list ready and my money saved aside.  I'm pretty sure she'll be going Saturday morning and that's good with me.

LLOYD, I hope both you and NANCY can find some zzzzs today since you both had a bad night.

I wish eveyfriend a great day.  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone..

Cold but bright day out there. Hubby wants to take a tour and have lunch at a wee village today so off we will go. There may come a time we can't go ,so might as well do it while we can.

Joy, winning at cards is  what one wants to do but being with friends and just having fun is the bottom line. Maybe next time the cards will be in your favour!

Jane, hope the computer work goes well.

Lloyd, guess a nap is in order for both of you today.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Rain expected again this afternoon so a trip to the grocery store will be my morning chore.  It's been a busy week so I am looking forward to nowhere to go over the weekend.  Also, I have a book waiting at the library for me so will stop by for that.  Something to read by a favorite author and plenty of food.  Who could ask for anything more!

Take care, All.

Well, came rushing back to the computer to see if I could retrieve my post but didn't work. Had typed until 2 cats were so angry with me for being on the computer instead of serving breakfast that Tom decided he wanted out to find his own food. So just as I glanced at the monitor to turn off after posting... was half way across the room before I realized that my message did NOT post because Phyllis got here first. I had not given the 2nd "Post" a click & it is gone... but cats are fed!  All 3 ate the new tuna like they really approved. Local Kroger had Starkist on sale 2/$1 so I bought a case & decided they were going to eat or go hungry.

Phyllis, weather guessers calling for rain for this area & centeral MO most of the next week, even the spring storms. I've had this RV for 5 years & no hail damage so far.. kind of a record for here. Ah, well, what will be, will be.

Terrific Thursday to all... will come back later to visit.  Shirley

Good morning everyone, The sun is shining, that is about the best I can say about the day, still too darn cold. The weather guessers are saying normal temperature at this time of year are 45°. We are in the single digits again.

JANE  that was a very good price for that ham. With that price I would get some without thinking about it.

AMY  I would love your stove. It would be heaven to go and stand by it and feel the warmth. I grew up with my Mom having a big black stove like yours and of course a big kitchen and that is where we spent most of our time in the winter. I really do not like baseboard heat, never feel that heat when it is this cold.

SHIRLEY  been a long time since I have roasted a chicken, never lasted long when everyone was still at home. Glad I am not the only one who likes pickled beets. Mention it to some and watch how they turn up their noses at the thought. I have always closed down the PC at night. Never miss an update either.

JOY  we can go from where I live to the other end of the state in an hour. Living is this smallest state is nice that nothing is much more than an hour away, depending on traffic.

LLOYD  hope you get back to Tampa soon and away from cold weather.

PHYLLIS  add a nice fireplace with a warm fire in it and I will join you with the food and a good book.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. This is going to be a cloudy but warm 68 degrees with a small chance of later day rain.  Our housekeeper just arrived so we will have a nice clean house in a few hours. Also the yard maintenance people are here this morning so it is going to be a noisy morning in the neighborhood.  Scott is going to go by Walmart later this morning and pick up Pat's online grocery order and also pick up some prescriptions for her.  He will then be here for a few minutes.  This was a morning for my shower and that has really used up a lot of today's limited energy.  Interesting postings since I posted yesterday but only going to check in again this morning.

I'm home and I'm bushed.  I'm going to go take a short nap before I start supper.

I forgot who mentioned it but Davy's is not and Amish store.  The owners and all those that I saw working there are Mennonites.  There's a pretty big difference.  Mennonites have rented this space for several summers past and had awnings and tent covering over a fresh produce market.  They also offered fresh baked goods every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  I'm wondering if they were testing the waters before going all out with a store?

I'll be back!

Good evening. Wanted to  get back sooner, but a couple naps got in the way.  Has been a very lazy day.

We had a very fine  snow all afternoon.   The weatherman had said it wouldn't amount to very much.   I haven't even looked out the window to see if it was laying on the road.

Jane, that would be wonderful to be able to meet up with you either up your way or down my way.  Hope it can happen.

I didn't think that the new store was an Amish  Market after reading about the owner and how it came about.   I love to be able to pick up the spices and all the things that they sell in buik.  The market in Shrewsbury has several aisles of all kinds of things.   Have you seen the bags of pie fillings they sell in with the bulk things.   Enough for several pies.  I like that I can get the flavored coffee in smaller amounts and all the pudding mixes.  And, the spices are always such a good price.

I am trying to watch Jeopardy  while I am writing my message here, so I think  I will end this so I can see the end of the show.

Have a good evening.

I slept very well last night.  I was in bed by 10:30 and I didn't wake up until about 5:30.  That's better than I've been doing for a long time.  I hope it keeps up.

Some time this morning I expect a text messag from Cathy telling me when she's going to the Amish store.  It will probably be around 9 so I have some time to "lollygag" and do some odd jobs before she picks me up.  Right now, I have my first cup of coffee in hand and I'm having a visit with my friends.

I'll be back to see who gets up first!  Enjoy your moning!

Good morning everyone, into the teens this morning but supposed to get up to 40's today. Heat wave. Tomorrow is back to a winter mess here, not loo‌king forward to that at all.

LARRY  always a good day to see your post. Glad your son is close so he can help.

JANE  hope today finds you rested from yesterday.

JOY  like you I always watch Jeopardy and felt sad when Alex announced he has stage 4  pancreatic cancer. I hope he can survive that. I had one sister die from it.

PETER  we are still having winter weather in the northeast. I am so ready for spring. Not much snow this winter but very cold. I will watch your latest walk after I finish here. I know I will enjoy it. Thanks for all you have posted, that man makes them so interesting. So much history in them.

LLOYD  no rain here today, supposed to ‪ for a change.

AMY  glad you enjoyed your drive yesterday.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  We are to have a cloudy day but it is suppose to get up to 78 this afternoon.  I plan on a nice quiet day today and will watch a lot of basketball this afternoon and this evening.  Not feeling very peppy this morning and trying to get up the energy and appetite to eat my breakfast.  I may try to start filling out our income tax this morning as have the data all together.

I am not up to trying to post a response to all of the posting but have read them all since I posted yesterday and will try to offer a  comments or two this morning.

Gloria, we would be in a bad stead if Scott wasn't close by and so willing to help us when we let him know what we need.  I was also shocked to read about the terrible health issues Alex Trebek faces in the days to come.

Good morning,  A little busier here then over in the Bait and Tackle board.   Just takes everyone a little longer to get to all the different boards.

Nice to see Larry, Gloria, Jane, Lloyd, Amy and Roley.

I, too, enjoyed the walk through the English countryside.

Jane, I know you will enjoy your shopping trip with Cathy.  Hope you find some bargains.  I did find that there are several of the "Fresh Markets" in my area.  And, from a couple pictures I saw,  they did look similar to Davy's Fresh Market.  Maybe it is a Franchise, as they are in other areas, also.  But, I am sure each one has specialty items related to that area.  All the fresh produce looks so good.  I do miss being able to go and pick out fresh produce.  Although the shopping service I am using now does a fairly good job.  I can't wait for the local produce stands to open up.

I need to get some mail ready to go out today. So, I better get started.

Hope all will have a great day.  Stay warm !!!

Good afternoon, beautiful sunny day. Just got my 2nd order from PeaPod. Last time fellow that delivered the order was not pleasant. was mad cause he had a hard time finding my place.  This deliveryman was young late 20's maybe. First he said there was no need to tip him, but he did appreciate it.(liked him right away :) He Put the cold things in order on the counter. he explained to me that everything I ordered was filled, no subs.
Amy, you said laundry Day, it reminded me every Sunday night my mother got ready for Laundry Day Monday AM, she wouldput two chairs together in the kitchen, fill the wash tub with water and soak the cloths over night, of course the old wash board came out and a bock of yellow soap. I was married and had Dennis before I got a washing machine, with a ringer on top. was on awaiting list even for that. After THE war, plants had to go back to manufacturing home goods.

Gloria and JOy, I still watch Jeopardy.

Roley, thanks for trip/

Good afternoon Larry, I will be watching golf. Also glad you have Scott close by.

Time to take it easy. Laundry done along with floors washed and now yogurt being made.

Don't forget to turn your clocks AHEAD tonight..

Gloria de, I know the automatics are easy to use but I think the wringer washer got the clothes clean. I enjoyed doing the laundry especially when I can hang it out. Snow is too deep here that my bedding would drag on the snow :(

Roley, lovely stroll....thoroughly enjoyed the arm chair trip. :)

Well, I am totally disgusted with 3 cats... :tissue:  :angry2:  I thought I was giving them a special treat when I offered them some of my baked chicken yesterday but figured they were full so didn't eat it after they had the other kind. I didn't get to Sam's Club to buy them a fresh chicken today so gave Tom & Callie (Tiger is still sleeping) a bowl of MY chicken which they looked at me with those big eyes, "are you kidding, Mom?"  Won't touch it. This must be the time of year their instincts tell them to raid bird nests or whatever, they aren't interested in most of my offerings. They like salmon & weren't too happy this morning with the Starkist tuna, ate a few bites. can you believe them?  The wind is fierce here today & they don't want outside, Callie sat in the pool area for a while & came back in to use the litter box, Tom was out & back in fast, he thought he heard noises out there.  ::) Tiger is lazy, as long as I let her go to the other end of the house by herself, she is happy.

I might as well get the rest of my gripes out of my system.... got 2 more cantaloupes a couple days ago & cut one today... it is still too green & hard as a rock. The two I got a couple weeks ago were delicious, but I didn't cut them up for over a week. I put the other one in the frig, kind of spoiled my taste for them. Will take it out in a week or so & let it ripen for a while (if it will). Not sure where they came from this time of year.

All this to whine about and got to set a house full of clocks tonight!  Some are not much trouble but the smart ones take some thinking. I like the ones that change automatically. Always did think this is a stupid idea.... can't fool MY body! I don't even know if there is an alarm in the house that works, not sure my body clock will appreciate having to get up at what it will think is 4:00 am since on Sunday mornings I get up at 5:00 to feed cats, have a bite myself & be on the way to church a little before 7:00. I have a bird clock that is really a pain, get it wrong & will have a robin sounding like a woodpecker. Not sure where the instructions are but think that one has to be changed before noon to keep the birds in sync.

Gloria, we have 40s-50s the next week but also severe threat of T-storms. I may be on my way to MO for that mess. Never know where it will be worse so just go when packed. We are getting into tornado season but hope I'll be at home when they blow through. "If it ain't one thing, it's another"...

Peter, love watching the links you post, don't know how you find them. My husband had found some of Marlow, Bucks & the area we lived in along the Thames.... We spent our first 3+ years of being married in England and I've never been back. What Google Earth shows, nothing even remotely the same of where we were. But everything is changed here as well. Thanks for the links.

You girls talking about the fresh food markets and all that good food makes my mouth water. Last year was too dry for any of the fresh foods at the Sat. open markets to be very good here. Most of the venders were hauling in from other states & picked too green, no flavor. I don't have a spot to have even a couple tomato plants. Where we lived when raising the kids we had a good size garden, Cas loved his tractors & all yard work. Times change, as my mother used to say, "a different phase of life".........

Amy, my mother had a Maytag so old she sent the serial number in one time when the company was having a contest. It had the wringer & she always said that it got the clothes cleaner than any of the newer ones. She proudly pinned Dad's white shirts & all the whites on the line & would be sure "nobody else had whiter".... She had a scrub board that got a hard rubbing for my sox... I was hard on clothes from the time I could walk, like her twin sisters, they were tomboys as well. I didn't get a dryer until we built a new house in 1967-68... would you believe it is still working & dries faster than the new models. It may last as long as I do.

Good to see you, Larry, isn't it great to have so many choices with TV?  I'm like Lloyd, love the old Westerns, mainly for the scenery, but they also had a good ending (most of the time) or moral lesson. Not much of the new stuff interests me, do like Wheel & Jeopardy but watch local news & when they start with the political stuff I switch channels. My TVs don't show any of the sports.  ::)

I'm going to have dessert first tonight, had such a big lunch of that chicken, dressing & gravy, mashed potatoes & a cup of applesauce... I'm not hungry for FOOD. Ice cream cones sounds good, don't you think?  Oops... phone is ringing....

Good evening, shirley when I pass, if I come back as a cat, I hope you or Patrica adopt me ;)

Amy, we lived in and apartment when Dennis was born. I had to wash the dippears every day of course, but I had to hang then on a pulley line[ I had to lean out the top part of the window, if I dropped any thing I would have to go out the front of the house, and run to the back to pick it up.  Bring frozen diapers in was also fun, they were so stiff getting them in the window. Amy, I think everybody in cyber world has hear about our washing machine, that was delivered with out a motor.  It took a couple of months to get that straighten out, as they would not believe us. After that salespeople thought us crazy, as we always checked to make sure the item had all its parts

Had a great dinner and lots of laughs with Cathy and Craig to celebrate Cathy's birthday (#62 tomorrow).  It's hard to believe that many years have passed.  I wished her a happy 62 then 22.  Craig said that's fine, he likes young chicks.  He also said she was beautiful when he married her and she's still beautiful.  I think we're gonna keep him!

I'm off to bed!  I've had my nap on the sofa and now it's time to go for real.  Like Shirley, I hope to make it to church at 8 a.m. DST tomorrow.  It's not gonna be easy.  Good night Everyfriend!

Me too, SHIRLEY!  I'm up, the dogs had their pills, the boinger is set and I'm off to the shower.  I don't have something to tell me how much sleep I got so I'm going with "I went to bed at 10:30 and got up at 5:15 a.m."  That's my "head time".  The clock said it was 6:15 but it lies all summer!

As promisd, i had a look and found the site i was told about, in the past i must have passed the village many times but never noticed the Church before!,i hope you will find this walk interesting, especially the memorial tablet inside the old Norman Church, a timely eminder for us all i think, also notice in the background the very early wild Daffodils in bloom, a sure sign of spring on it's way.
Shirley. if you google this site> walking with the taxie driver <then click on 'WALKS' you might find what you are looking for ?, hope you all enjoy the site anyhow, Cheers.

Good morning everyone, light dusting of snow on the ground already. A winter mix is in the forecast for today. Warmest start of the day is quite awhile. 28°. Snow is one thing but weather guessers are saying rain and sleet along with snow. No going out again for me. Yesterday went into the mid 40's and it felt warmer sitting in the sunshine. I must have been outside about 3 hours yesterday enjoying it. I must ge one of the few people that changing the clocks twice a year never bothered.

LARRY  getting your income tax ready I hope does not take all your energy. Watching the news one day at the end of the week when Alex Trebek  announced his health problem. He always looks so healthy. Jeopardy is the only game show I watch and I always liked him, he is dignified and never acts stupid like some of them do.

JOY  I never posted in Bait and Tackle. These days it is all I can do to post here in the SS once a day.

GLORIA de  I have been satisfied with all my orders from PeaPod. So far they have all been middle age drivers and all polite and helpful.

AMY  nothing smells as good as clothes hung outside to dry. We do have some clothes lines in the back here and how I wish I could hang clothes out. I would not be able to reach up to the lines anymore.

SHIRLEY  last cantalope I enjoyed was in San Diego. Picked ripe and so tasty and juicy, just about melting in my mouth. Never buy then anymore, no taste. Got spoiled with really fresh ones. I have a clock on the wall in the kitchen, I cannot reach it and when my son came yesterday first thing he did was change the time on it. This time it is easier to go forward with my alarm clock but the turn back is a big pain. Another thing I hate about Cox cable I have sports, language and selling channels I have to pay for and NEVER turn to any of them. As they say -they are part of the package I pay for. Baloney. I cannot eat chicken without cranberry sauce. I will cook up fresh cranberries in the fall, when they are available, and freeze in small containers.

LLOYD  at least you had rain and not snow.

JANE  hope the time didn't throw you and your fur babies for a loop today.

PETER  I enjoyed yesterday's walk and look forward to watching the one you posted today. I always watch them after I have posted here.

AMY  glad I no lo have to clean away any snow.

Good Morning Everyone...
It will soon start snowing which
will turn later to sleet and rain
and then stop and start to warm up.

I have changed all of my clocks that
don't change them self..
"Spring Ahead,  Fall Behind",
don't forget which way to turn them.

Shirley  Regarding using a FITBIT...

Personally that would drive me crazy,
like having to use my blood pressure
machine daily...

Soon they would take over my life and
dictate to me just how I feel or scare
me to death...

Bless  you for being able to use
a Fitbit and not have it drive
you crazy.    :crazy2:

Waltzing is done for the time being. Snow, rain and now freezing rain ....wait 5 min and it will change....high winds also that blew the snow back on me.

Need to put the yogurt I made yesterday away in jars and freeze some of the whey, I really like using it to make bread.

Gloria, great to hear you enjoyed the outside, after being in for a long time getting out in the fresh air is nice.

Roley, thank you for another arm chair stroll. Will take it after I get the kitchen back in order.

Lloyd, did you get your motor home back yet?

Enjoy your day everyone.

He worked on it for awhile and hopefully got it fixed. It this doesn't solve the problem then going to switch her to my computer that I am not using now and put hers back to factory condition. However right now don't have the energy to work on it. I have read through the posting but not going to offer any indivual comments.

I found the phone!  It was in the car.  I must have just been too far away to hear it and it stopped before I got the door open.  The second time I tried, I opened the car door first and I heard the first ring.

I love the convenience of the cell phone and the fact that if anything happens when I'm out on the road, I'm not stuck.  But some of us were just not made responsible enough to have them and I'm one of those people.  You know....that dumb old lady with the bad memory!

Jane,  you are not alone in getting frustrated with a cell phone!  I still can't get mine to allow me to answer a phone call!
Neither do I have (or want) something around my wrist telling me how many "this and that" I've done.  Too old and cranky to allow some machine giving me instructions!!

I thought I'd lost my check book last week.  Even went through the big trash bin after it had been put out for collection.  Finally discovered it had fallen off my purse (where I'd put it so I wouldn't forget to take it with me) and had landed behind my dresser. Thank goodness I was able to nudge it out with the yardstick!

Church services were cancelled last week because of ice and I hadn't been the week before because it was bitterly cold.  So it was nice to be able to go today and then go OTL as usual.  It took the Lunch Bunch quite a while to catch up settling all the problems of our world -  as if anyone cared about our opinions.  :)

This is opening weekend for Miss Ellen's show in Lauderhill Florida.  Someone connected with the theater posted a lot of pictures of Opening Night.  I noticed that Ellen was the only one of the Ensemble whose  individual picture was "tagged" with her name.
She is part of a group performing as fish in an aquatic show (not actually in water) and another picture had given the fish names.    I thought hers was "Anchovy" but she said it was "Prawn".  So I told her it would be easier to think of her as a shrimp than as a pizza topping.  (We were texting and she didn't reply to that one.  I could see her rolling her eyes "Ohhh, Gammy!".  :) :) )

Miss Emily was named to the Honor Roll of the Fall trimester at Chiropractic College. This was one of the toughest trimesters in terms of curriculum so we are all very proud of her accomplishment.

My daffodils were bent over with ice last week but two days of sunshine straightened them up and popped them open.  So lovely to see spots of color in the flower beds.
Birds look as if they're getting busy building nests.  The Carolina wrens sometimes find an unusual place on a patio or in a flower pot.  Will have to stay aware.

Busy week ahead.  I'm trying to be glad it's just rain that's forecast instead of ice....but I don't like any kind of wet weather.  Oh, well.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

Jane, I'm glad you found your phone.  Dot and I were talking about them today.  Neither of us has a Smart phone and we both have TracFones that we carry in our purses and cars for emergency purposes.  I don't drive now and Tom has a phone that is wired to him (!) but I do carry my TracFone just in case.

Dot and I went to church this morning as usual and I think most everyone was there in spite of the time change.  I laugh about the time change because it happens only twice a year and many of us (but not Gloria) gripe about it.  I think it is changing the clocks we have around, at least those that don't change automatically.  I have two to change yet and one of those I tried, but it would not change.  Minutes changed, but not the hour.  I have to admit when I changed the clock by my bed, I went backward and it was later in the day that I realized I had Sprung backward.  I know better.

I wish I had some daffodils in my yard as they are so pretty and cheerful.  I've got to look to see if my neighbor left my snowdrops alone.  She has taken over my area beneath my kitchen window but she doesn't pay attention to what I tell her or what I'd like.  It will be interesting this year because she planted a section of seeded "fabric" and I know it will reseed itself.  I don't complain to her because I can't do things myself and with her efforts I have flowers.

Regarding Norm's Boat and Tackle, it is similar to the Soda Shoppe.  We talk about different subjects than here, mostly because our interests are different.  I post in both places and rarely mention the same things.  Even so, I talk a lot!

I've misplaced my phone twice that I had to ask if anyone turned it in at work so they all know what a ditz I am and now everyone at my church knows, too.  And all three times it was in my car!

Now I'm going to bed.  It's almost 10 oclock but that's only in my head.  On the clock, it's almost 11 oclock.  And I have to tell you, my alarm clock is changed and the clocks on the stove and the microwave are both changed.  The ones on the computer, phone and iPad all took care of themselves.  I just realized that I still have to do the house phone.  And I never change the one in the car.  I just run an hour off for 6 months out of the year.

I wish I had daffodils!  It would be a sure sign of Spring but I'm afraid I'll have to wait.

Good night Everyfriend, and may God bless us, every one!

Just wanted to stop by to see how EVERYFRIEND is doing?

I see most of you commented on "springing forward"!  No springing around here...as you know most of Arizona does not change time.  We will get to change all of the clocks when we get home.  I personally wish we would not change time!  I see no need in it.

Only one more full day with my dad......I think he is in much better shape now than he was when we arrived.  He has been eating and getting more interfaceing and it seems to agree with him.  I am truly sad that it is nearly time for us to head back to Colorado.

I wish you all a good night.  Pleasant dreams.

Good morning everyone, for a change the day is starting above freezing, 33° now. Supposed to be a nice day and into the 40's. Good I will get out again. Yesterday was not as bad as the forecast but it was a gloomy day.

AMY  I love getting out in the fresh air. Get to see others at the same time. Used to see a lot down in the lobby and the library but lately every one seems to be staying in their apartments. This is not a place where people visit in each others apartments. Every one is friendly though.

JANE  you will have to start tying your cell phone to you in someway so you do not lose it again. That or wear a fanny pack and keeping it in there.

LARRY  glad Scott could help Pat with her laptop. Darn computers can be a pain in the neck but what would we do without them now.

JANE  glad you found your cell phone.  If you were dumb you would not be able to do the job you have or all the things you do. Wish I was half as smart as you are.

CALLIE  you have to be popping your buttons with pride for your grands. All smart like you. I sure would love seeing some early flowers starting to show here but with the ground still covered in snow it will be weeks before that happens.

MARY ANN  I usually change my clocks on the Saturday afternoon and start getting used to it before it starts. My daughter is happy living in Arizona, no time change twice a year there.

JANE  like you I never changed the clack in my car. Half the year it was right so I knew it and it did not bother me.

JENNY  glad you will be leaving you Dad feeling better than when you got there.

SHIRLEY  wow you posted early today.  You beat everyone else.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..
More snow to deal with this morning. Hope this is it for the week!!
Hubby has two appointments in town so will get ready for that.

Jenny , happy to read your Dad is doing better. Could you Skype with him each day?

Jane glad you found your phone, frustrating when that happens!

Gloria, I would love some 40° weather right now.

Wish we would hear from June..

Better get a move on

Take care everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for a while but had to make doggie food this morning.  I did that while waiting for their pill boinger.  I had just got around to finishing reading in here when the boinger went and it was time to feed them and get my breakfast.  So here we all are.

JENNY, I'm so glad your father is feeling somewhat better.  I'm sure your presence worked wonders!  I know, when Cathy drops in on Saturday or Sunday afternoon, I feel better!

I'll be off to my place behind the counter at Wally World today.  I hope I don't lose my phone again!

I hope you all have a great day!  Make it your own in every way.

Good morning to all the early birds.  For a change, it is a pretty, sunny morning outside my window.  Still a little cold, but not quite as bad as it has been.  So, maybe spring is on it's way.

I did not get in here yesterday.  I tried several times, but my cursor was flitting all over the place and I just not get it to go where I wanted it to go.  This  morning, it seems to have gotten better.  I have one that has one of the balls that you move around, and I had taken it out and cleaned all the little dust bits that accumulates, but it didn't help.  Hopefully, the last time I cleaned it must have been the charm.

Jane, so happy that you found your phone.  I hardly ever use my cell phone, so I pretty much keep it in one place.  Just about everytime I go somewhere, I am with someone who carries their phone with them all the time, so I hardly ever use mine.  And, like Callie,  I have a difficult time answering it.  You have to kind of swipe across it and I usually wind up disconnecting from the caller.  Just can't seem to get the hang of the "swipe" part.

Also, Jane,  glad that you do not have any more "droopy drawers". LOL

Jenny, glad that your dad is showing a little improvement.  I know that will give you a little peace of mind when it comes time to leave.

Amy, I know you will be happy when you can put that snow shovel away for a while.  I don't think I could deal with all that snow for such a long time like you do.  But, I know you "do what you have to do".

Gloria, it is kind of the same way where I live .  Not as many people sit down in the lobby anymore, and keep to their apartments.  Since they painted the whole building, a lot of the benches have not been returned to where they used t be.  They used to have a nice little area where people put puzzles together.  They have now made that area a nice little sitting area and moved the puzzle table into the library.  And, the library is all the way up near the very front of the building and a long walk for some of us to get to.  I don't do the puzzles, but do go to the library every couple weeks.  I need to stop and rest a little bit on the way there.  Then, I usually will sit down in the library for a while.  It is a nice sunny room and usually not busy, at all. So far, I have not seen any evidence of anyone working on the puzzles.  And, that used to be a pretty active area.  So many changes lately.  Some good and some not so good.

Mary Ann, glad that you and Dot were able to get to church yesterday.

Larry, do hope you are feeling better this morning. Glad that Scott was able to work on Pat's computer.

Hope everyone will have a good day.   And,  "Hi !" to the ones I might have missed.  I need to get moving, as I will be getting my hair done around noon.

Joy

Good Monday Morning Everyone...

I have a lanyard that I can wear around my
neck when I am up and about..

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KYCQDUO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is perfect and easy to slip over my
head if I feel it is needed.   Other wise
I only leave my cell phone on my desk or
next to my bed.

So there is only three places that it can
be:   around my neck,  on my desk or next to
my bed.

For me,  it is all in the habits I establish,
or otherwise, my phone would be lost,
for ever!!!

Hi Everyone.  I am getting a late start this morning as this was the morning for my shower.  That always wears me out.  It looks like we will be getting up to 72 degrees this afternoon and we are in for another cloudy day with the potential of some rain from time to time.  The housekeeper is back this morning for a couple of hours and will help her with her sewing room.  She is trying to arrange things to make getting her fabric more accessible.  I have no plans for today.

Janet, know that is a relief to find your phone.

Callie, glad you were able to get to Church yesterday and then go out to eat with friends.  It sounds like Miss Emily is a good student.

Jenny, sure this will be a sad day to leave your Dad to get back to your own home.  Glad he is doing better than when you got there.

Gloria, the clock we have in our car is very easy to change whereas in previous cars it really was a pain.

Jane, glad you were finally able to get your kitchen drawers fixed.

Sandy, like you I am also very organized about where my cell phone is.  I have a case for it on my belt and if not there it will be beside my bed so I can easily reach it.  Once in a while I forget to put it in the holder in the morning and then feel loss without it.

I didn't try to address everyone today but will try to do so in the days to come, probably not everyone everyday as no longer have the energy to do that.

Sandy, that is a good arrangement for your cell phone.  I have a TracFone and it lives in my purse.  Every couple of weeks, I take it out and charge it.  If I go somewhere that I need it, I take it along (this is when I do not take my purse, but do take my billfold).  For instance, for a dental appointment, Tom will drop me off and go back home.  I need the phone to call him to pick me up.  Tomorrow I will get my hair cut and Tom will go to the restaurant next door to wait for me and we'll have breakfast; I don't need a phone then because Tom has his.  In the house, I have phones in the kitchen, living room and the computer room so I do not use the TracFone.  I like to keep the TracFone charged because if the power goes off, my TracFone will work.  I just changed to Comcast for Tom's benefit as our AT&T Internet was too slow for him.

It is a bright sunny day here and I read we might be up to 60 degrees by Thursday.  Do you think Spring might be on its way?

Jane, that was a long time to have "droopy drawers".  I'll bet you're in seventh heaven!

Amy, I told Tom I was disappointed that I didn't see a blizzard this year and he said the long cold spell made up for it.  I can wish for such things since I don't have to go outside in it.

Weather is still a mess. one min snowing and blowing and the next it is calm for a min or two. I was going to wash the van but the roads are wet and it would be a waste of time and money. Maybe in the morning I will wash it before I take it to the garage at 7:30 am. I do believe physio is helping hubby..now to keep up with the exercises he has been sent home with.

Mary Ann, most of the people in physio want the snow to be gone.I think we would like to be seeing the daffodils like Callie is seeing..

Joy, I do have to admit, the snow is so pretty on the trees or when the sun makes it look like diamonds all through it. Now we want Spring and to go out and play in the garden. I have been buying seeds  already for the garden plus I have some special seeds to go in...

Larry, great to see you. easy does it and happy also that you have Scott near to help out.

Jane, must be nice to have your drawers all organized and back where they belong..not nice having droopy drawers :)

Sandy that is a great idea for the cell phone!

Better go see what I can muster up for dinner tonight..

Hello Everyfriend!  Today was a much easier day at work and I think it might be that I'm sleeping better the past few nights.  I don't know why but I'm not complaining.  I even had enough energy left over to pick up a few items I needed on the the way out of the store.

SANDY, I love the lanyard for your phone and I've thought often about getting myself one but I really don't like things hanging around my neck and I think I'd probably chuck it after a bit.  I might still try it and see how it works.

Now I'm going to finish my crossword puzzle from this morning and then see what transpires.  Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend.  It's yours to do what you wish.

I ran out of daylight to figure out everything. also I most likely have to get some help or get the book out to tell me what to do. good night and sweet dreams everyone, I sure got tired doing almost nothing. I sure have to take my time at a slower Pace. that last mishap cost $4,446.46  he sure liked those 4'. oh well all is well that ends well.

WHEW!  That was sure an expensive mistake, LLOYD.  Please be more careful!

I'm off to bed!  We hit 54º today and it's supposed to get even warmer tomorrow.  Maybe there is a Spring out there waiting to pop!

Good night Everyfriend!  Sleep well and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone.

No new snow and a temp is 18° F at least it is not below!
Taking the van in to get a few things done on it, oil change, spark plug change and change the transmission fluid. If need be he will also change the serpentine belt.

Lloyd, ouch that was a hefty bill!! Hope no more mishaps like that for you.

Jane , give the 54° a boot and send it on up this way please.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning everyone, Peter and I just had a good visit on Skype, we decided that we need to stay in touch with one and all better. possibly
have a forum where we maintain phone # and addresses. example some of you folks I have net in person and some only here in  S & F good friends we went to church when in the service but never stayed in touch with after completing my tour of duty in the service. i do how ever intend to as we travel in the R V stop and see as many of you we visit in this forum. we can and will park close by and email or phone and meet and brake bread with you all as we can as we did with JaneS one time. only thing wrong with that meeting she bought the meal. In my mined as I was thought the man is supposed to be a gentleman. we plan some time to go back to see my cousin again and if JaneS will have time to visit then she will let us be the host then. the man at the body shop did a great job of fixing my mishap on the R V except the back up creamy and the g p s do not work now. I am going to get our friend to look at why and fix them. Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm a bit later than usual this morning.  I answered the morning call and since the doggies hadn't moved and I have nothing urgent to take care of today, I crawled back in bed.  I had another hour and 15 minutes of solid sleep and it's wonderful!

AMY, I was thinking more of sticking something in the middle of the 54º so it would spread.  I'm afraid, if I give it a boot, it will disappear completely and I  sure don't want that to happen.  I think "spreading it" would be the way to go!

Haven't figured out what to get into today.  There are two things on my list that I like to avoid at all costs and I'm going to force myselft to face them today.....cleaning up the winter yard after the dogs (the snow all melted) and running the sweeper.  That's probably enough for one old lady to do.  Oh well, it keeps me going whether I like it or not.

I wish you all a good day.  Make it what you wish!

I would rather run the sweeper than do taxes!  That's one of the things I HAVE to work on today.  And then there is household laundry.  No end to the fun things I have to do.   ;)

At least, the sun is shining brightly.  That will help.

Take good care of yourselves today.

Hi Everyone.  We expect to have a beautiful day today with sun and partial cloudiness and a high of around 63.  While I felt fairly good yesterday morning by afternoon I wasn't feeling good at all.  I am hoping for a better day today. Pat has an appointment with the lung doctor around 11 this morning.  I have to refill my medicine boxes this morning for the next two weeks and then want to work some more on the income taxes.  I probably won't get them finished today but hope to make a big dent in them.

Last night when I got up to have my Chamomile tea I decided it would be a good time to read all of the postings from yesterday, which I did.  I am going to try to be brief on comments today as want to get started with the other morning projects like eating my breakfast.

Mary Ann, I saw yesterday that there is another blizzard coming across the country so maybe not to late for you all.

Lloyd, glad you got your motor home back but know it is disgusting that they didn't restore the things the way they found them.  Like you, we have lost contact with many of the friends we had at our various locations we lived.  I have even forgotten a lot of the names.

Roley, you do find some interesting tour videos to share with us.  Thanks.

Phyllis, I used to enjoy doing the taxes but they are pretty complicated in some way particularly when the tax software I use seems to change a lot year by year.

Amy, is the serpentine belt fairly easy to change?
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for March 1,2019
Post by: JaneS on March 12, 2019, 10:30:17 AM
LARRY, maybe you should stick something in that nice weather to cause it to spread....preferably to the North of you.

Phyllis, I took care of two big things yesterday.  My son fixed the "droopy drawers" and when he left he had the box containing all my tax stuff.  He has a degree in accounting as does my daughter in Texas.  When they were both fresh out of college and both living in PA, I told them that, having put them through college, I felt I shared their degrees and that I was never going to do my own taxes again.  And I didn't intend to pay anyone to do them.  Cindy did them until she moved from PA (about 12 years) and Philip has done them ever since.  Some things do pay off in the long run.  Of course, you all know that if they had not taken accounting, I'd still have helped them through college. They know that, too!

I've got the sweeper sitting in the hall.  At least, if anyone stops by, they'll know my intentions are good.

I guess I better get started.  I'm working inside first because the temperature outside isn't supposed to go up until after lunch.  I know what I'm doing!

Lovely sunny day here. I washed the van at the car wash, just used the rinse cycle to get the salt/dirt off. Felt bad that the mechanic would have to work on a dirty vehicle so I fixed that problem. With all that I need done they said it would take more than the two hours so they brought me home and will call when it is done. They may bring it here and I will drive the man back. Told them if the neighbour was home I would see if he would drive me in.......6 of one half a dozen of the other. :)

Larry, I think it is not too difficult to change. I just know if it breaks it could leave us stranded on the highway so better to get it replaced.

Put some sweet and sour chicken in the oven for supper and will have it with rice and green beans.

Just checking in on everyone.  It has been raining and looks like more snow on Mt. Lemmon.  (Tucson).  So unusual for this time of the year.

Friends are planning a birthday party for an old friend of ours - she was born on St. Patricks day and they have hired a bagpipe player - he wears the real outfit too.  I hope it is nice enough to sit outdoors next Sunday.

Amy:  The start button broke on my Viking #1 plus and they do not make parts for it anymore.  I have the electrical cord  to plug on and off and just have to remember to turn it off.  Good wishes on getting your vehicle fixed.

Take care all - we hear the flu is still kicking up and worse this month.  (We always have our shots in September and so far that has kept us well).

Did you hear about the woman who was taking a picture of self (selfie) and a jaguar at the zoo grabbed her arm.  Very dangerous and careless of her but to her credit, she did say she was wrong.  It is a zoo near here.

Good evening....we are home safe and sound.

It was REALLY hard to leave my dad this morning.....I am so thankful we got to spend time with him.

Our flight was extremely rough coming in to Denver.  It was pouring rain when we were driving to the airport in Phoenix..... The flight crew was unable to finish the drink service...

I just heard that most flights out of Denver have been cancelled tomorrow as are many schools districts.

DIL, Michele is to start her chemo treatments tomorrow...... We were not to help out, but now with the schools closing that may change.

I best get to bed Incase we are needed tomorrow.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Good morning everyone..

Still not used to daylight saving time and do wish they would leave the time alone.

We are off  to the city, I have some quilts tops to give to a lady plus other items she uses to make cat toys.

Carol, I have a Viking also but tend to use my Janome the most.

Jenny , prayers for Michele that she comes through this trying time in flying colours.

Jane,we are to get warmer weather the next few days but we will also get rain/freezing rain. Having said that I would rather we get snow!

Roley, thank you for another wonderful walk.

Enjoy your day everyone..

I'm up and ready to begin another busy day!  Good morning to everyone who has been here and who will be here later.

JENNY, my prayers also go out to Michele for a successful set of treatments.  With her attitude, whatever awaits her, she will meet with courage.

AMY, please keep your icy stuff in the NORTH!  We're suppose to get up to 54º today and I've got a nice, long, sharp stick ready to stick right in the middle of it so it will spread to all my friends.

The doggies and I are waiting for the boinger and then we'll have breakfast and I'll be getting ready to head to Wally World to greet my fans from behind the register.

My daily list gets longer every day but I must admit that I include some items that don't take long just so I won't forget them and I also include some things that I like to do.  A proper "to do" list should always include certain things that you enjoy.  Otherwise, it could get very tedious.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.  It's yours so make it special!

Good morning everyone, cold again this morning 21°. Was nice to start above freezing for a few days., Just hear d on local news that the wind will be calmer for a change.

LLOYD  the only ones I have met from the old SN were the ones from Australia that visited and the ones who lived here in New England. Was an enjoyable meeting and enjoyed by all of us. These days I seldom go out, too hard to do.

PETER  I always enjoy your Walks. I usually watch them after  I post and at times I may not tell you how I enjoy them. Always interesting to see how much older buildings are there than here in the USA.

JANE  I went back to bed yesterday morning and got 4 hours more sleep, got me more energy than I had in a long time. We still have a lot of snow on the ground. The end of the third row of parking-for visitors has only 3 spots open. The rest of it is where they plowed some snow and it has not melted much yet.At least the roofs are clear.

PHYLLIS  today is laundry day here but all I have to do is put clothes away, my CNA does the laundry. I can no longer reach to get the clothes out of the washer or the dryer. I think every day I am getting shorter.

LARRY  wonderful seeing you had a good morning a couple od days ago. Glad my taxes are easy to do. No more property owned and that is nice. This town has revalued property and my oldest son who lives here is ready to move out of the state.

AMY  the garage I used to go to was great if it would take a long time to work on my car and they would take me home and my son would take me to get it when he got home from work.

CAROL that woman went over the barrier to get that selfie. Her  injury could have been worse. What gets into people to be so stupid. My daughter has been getting rain outside of Kingman.

JENNY can you and your Dad use Skype or Facetime every day? It might have both of you feeling better to see each other every day for a few minutes. I would be lost if I could not see my daughter every day. Prayers for Michele.

JANE  we all should do something we enjoy every day.

Have a good day.

Good morning, Jane, Amy, Gloria, and Jenny.

Jenny, good luck to your DIL as she starts on her next journey to getting well.  I  think she will do fine as she has such a wonderful outlook.  That just means so much.

It is a pretty sunny morning,  but only in the 20's.  Thinking about going back to bed on this cold morning.

I might read for a while and then get on with my day.

Sure hope everyone will have a great day.

I am so tired of stepping in the mud going half down to the knees and can't hardly pull your foot out of it. we found a  jo dolly we can buy to pull our van behind the R V with,am going to go get it today. so we can get ready to travel. Shirley Nancy wants to come by and meet you on our way west. if that is good with you email us your phone # and we can call you. we have free long distance , we could talk about what would be a good time for you. see you all later.

I can't believe that I slept until 7:30 this morning!  It felt so good.

Still working on taxes and I agree with you, Larry.  The method of reporting some things has changed and it is confusing.  I've done a lot of asking questions of the IRS site on-line to make sure I am doing the right thing on the right form.  I use Turbo Tax for tax prep. and they don't always explain things clearly, IMO.  I usually end up checking the .gov site for a better(sometimes) explanation.

It is a beautiful, very sunny morning here.  A little chilly but supposed to warm up.  I have to get to the library to pick up a book that is being held for me.  Also, I should get the car washed.  I may decide that we need to have lunch out today.  I need a break from the house....the walls are closing in.

I can still reach the bottom of the washer, Gloria, but I have to stand on my tip-toes.  And when I wash the big double sheets from my bed it is really hard to get them out. Sometimes I have to call David to help.

Thinking of Michelle, Jenny, and know that with her great attitude the procedure will go smoothly for her.  Still, I am sure it isn't something that she looks forward to.

Hi Everyone.  While we have some sunshine this morning overall it is suppose to be a cloudy day with no rain.  Yesterday was such a nice day that after Pat got home from her doctor's appointment she suggested we go over to Dairy Queen.  I said that sounded good as hadn't been out of the house for several days.  I had a small hamburger and fries, although only ate two of the fries.  I did finish the hamburger and had ordered two of the tiny Blizzards and ate a few bites of one of them and brought them home for the freezer.  I did enjoy the outing, the worst part getting the rollator in and out of the car.  I was pretty exhausted the rest of the day but it sure did my spirits good to get out.  Yesterday morning I did pretty well complete my income tax returns.  I will wait a few days and then review them again and e-file them. I was a bit shocked at the size of the refund we will get on both the Federal and State returns.  Today should be pretty quiet until evening when Scott, Jennifer and Elizabeth will be coming out to have supper with us.  The girls haven't been here since Christmas.  Pat has a new Instant Pot recipe for chicken that sounds good and we plan on asking Scott to pick up some KFC cold slaw to go with it.

Jane, it is very reasonable for you to expect your children to do your taxes.  I also have an accounting degree and have always done our taxes.  However, we do not have a difficult return. You sound like Erma Bombeck who said she kept her sweeper out in plain site so that if anyone dropped in she could say she was about ready to sweep.  I hope you get busy registers today.  Do you ever write anything on my ToDo list after you have completed it just so you can mark it off.  I have to admit I used to do that.

Amy, nice of you to have your car washed before the mechanic had to work on it.  I agree it is a good idea to keep all belt in good working order.  Even though I have road side service I sure don't want to have to use it.

Lloyd, I can remember when on the farm the barn yard got so muddy that it came way up on your overshoes when you stepped in it and we couldn't avoid some of it as had to carry the milk and milk things up a little hill from the barn to the milk cans in a cooler.  Mud doesn't seem to be too much of a problem for us here in South Carolina, at least in the area as our soil is mainly clay and sand.

Phyllis, I understand you can speak to different people at the IRS and get different results for the same question. I hope you are able to get out for lunch today.  I really enjoyed doing that yesterday.

A little bit ago I had a followup call from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Customer service for South Carolina on a call I had with her last Friday.  She had done exactly what she had said she would do.  Very good customer service and something you don't often find.

Carol, that sounds like quite a birthday party for your old friend.  I can't image being so careless as to put your arm in a cage for a wild animal.  I was glad the zoo didn't destroy the animal and that the lady with take blame for the incident.

Jenny, I bet you were glad when the plane landed in Denver.  I always kept my seat belt fastened on a plane until it reached the gate.

Larry, my taxes are relatively simple and I use Turbo Tax to do them, then e-file the federal, but I have to pay to e-file my state, so I send that in.  Last year, I paid big for the federal and state both - dividends vary from year to year and they sure varied last year.  This year I think I will get a federal refund and I haven't started my state taxes yet.

Gloria, I've enjoyed Peter's walks too.  I found them online and have watched some of them.  Yes, some of their buildings are much older than ours.  I remember when I was in Germany many years ago that the family took me to an old town and I don't even remember how far back they went, but more than 200 years (as most of ours are).

A retiree friend called a few minutes ago.  Probably in May, our other retirees will be back from the south and we'll meet for lunch for a few months before winter sets in again.

Jenny, Gloria's suggestion of Skype for you and your dad sounds like a good one.  You would be able to see him each day that way.  Best wishes to Michele.

I don't do the wash any more; Tom does it.  The laundry equipment is downstairs and I don't do stairs now.  In an emergency, I could, but otherwise, no.  He even folds the clothes, maybe not like I would, but I don't look gift horses in the teeth!

Jane, if my weather heads your way, you will like it.  We're sunny today with a temp of 39 degrees at 11:15 am.  Pretty soon my cat and I will be able to sit out on the deck, but I'm not holding my breath!

Good afternoon, sun shining, in the 40's. I can not wait till it gets warm enough to set on the sunporch.  I do have and electric heater I can turn  on.  I like to read out there and have my lunch.

Larry, I use to like to watch and listen to Erma B, I remember when she wrote that about the vacuum cleaner.

Gloria and MaryAnn, when I toured europe I went to OLd old buildings, and when I spent a month in Turkey that is where you saw old churches( they covered up the Christians markings) that the Romans built and one bridge we went over all the time was built by the Romans. Here they are tearing down old houses and building to put in a parking garage, or apartment

Jenny, prays for michele and your dad, for you and your whole family.  I also think Gloria had a great idea.

I'm home and it was busy up  the Gazoo!  I think they refilled the food stamp cards this week.  Most of my BIG customers used food stamps.

LARRY, I'm a fan of Erma Bombeck and I remember her remark about the sweeper.  Also, when she took her kids to the beach, she would tell them "You kids, if your father finds out what your doing he's going to be very angry."  She said that way she didn't have to claim the kids as her own and have everyone at the beach thinking she was a bad mother.

I have to admit that I've written things on my list just so I could cross them out.  I like to see the big red magic marker cross outs.  It means I'm NOT as lazy as I think I am.

I'm really tired and the doggies have been loved up and fed and out and in and I'm ready to see if they left any zzzzs on the sofa.

Keep on doing what your doing if it pleases you.  Stop if it doesn't!

Gloria de, when I was at Windsor Castle, there was part of Hadrian's wall from Roman times (I don't remember the year).  I see pictures of the Wall in various places and it has lasted many centuries.  I like old things.  Maybe that's why I like genealogy!  Ha!

Sunny, then cloudy, rainy and some snow on Mt. Lemmon in Tucson.  Power out, wind with sideways snow, power on and off, planes cancelled, and that is Denver and Highlands Ranch area.  Stay safe everyone.

Good idea to stay seated with the belt on upon landing while the plane taxis to the gate and do not stand up until you hear the ding of the bell.

I am taking a break from sewing - after cleaning and oiling it to get rid of a clicky click.  Soft purring now like it is supposed to sound.

Thought sure I posted last night to say we were home safe and sound, but I do not see it🤣😢🤪☹️  There is nothing showing since last night...hum?

The "Bomb Cyclone" proved to be as bad as forecasted here today.....it still is not over, so schools will be closed again tomorrow.

Michele was to have Chemo today, so Dave took the da6 off and they got there early this morning only to be told it has bee; cancelled due t9 the weather.  This is the second time she has been cancelled......makes it so hard on her when she gets herself mentally prepared and then delayed again.  I feel so bad for her.

I am going to come back later to see if things are updated later.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I see that I went off to bed last night without checking on all my friends.  I'm sorry about that but I'm happy to say that it's a good morning after a good night's sleep.

It's warm enough that I can sit out on the porch steps in the morning while the doggies roam the yard.  When I do that, I'm facing due east toward the first range of the Appalachian mountains.  This morning the sun was still behind them but there was a promise of it's rising and I was reminded of an old camp song that seems appropriate to sing any morning.  I'm sharing it with you.....

God has created and new day,
Silver and green and gold.
Live that the sunset may find us
Worthy his gifts to hold.

I always loved that song and it frequently comes to mind in the morning.  Although I can't carry a tune in a bucket, I think God hears me when I sing it!

Live your day as you wish but enjoy God's gifts.

Good morning everyone...

We had a great day away yesterday, dropped the quilts tops off with my friend while we had coffee/tea at Timmies. Did the rest of our shopping and headed home before the weather turned nasty, Mt friend phoned at 6 pm to see if we were ok, seems there was a serious accident on our road home. Checked the paper this morning and it was a head on collision with one lady passing.

We need to go to the feed mill this morning to pick up puppy food for this fast growing little?? fellow.

Jenny, that must be frustrating for Michele and all the family. Hope they can get on with it soon so it will be over with and she can enjoy the summer.

Larry, we also have CAA but if we head to the city it is a long way for help to come get us. Nice to see you enjoyed your getting out. Scott, jennifer and Elizabeth will enjoy a nice home cooked meal, plus you and Pat's company.

Ok Where is Shirley?? Did she find a snowy hill to play on?

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone..

JaneS your greeting this  A M was great. I suspect we all need to do a better job of thanking him  and asking for a better forgiveness of our short Cummings. we do not miss a meal of one or the other saying us saying thanks for the freely given blessings. and some times I ask for forgiveness on the go. Have a great day hope it is just as you like it.

"Good evening....we are home safe and sound."  (from Jenny)

Jenny I show a post from you on March 12 at 11:37 pm (my time EDT).  That could be the one you are looking for.

I've gotten people in Norm's B&T interested in the Soo Locks and some of the ships that go through the locks.  I posted a short video of a ship going through the locks and I'll put a link here in case anyone wants to watch.  Lakes Huron and Superior are not the same level and the locks were built in the 1800s to enable ships to go from one lake to the other.  In the lock, the ship is raised or lowered to make it possible for the ship to get to either lake.  The ships carry ore, grain and other commodities.

Thanks, MARY ANN, but I can't watch it.  It wants me to sign in to YAHOO Mail and I don't have that.  So I guess I'll just be deprived.  It sounds like everyone who watches these videos, enjoy them.

Jane, I'm sorry.  I admit I have Yahoo mail, but that is not the way I got there.  I think I put Soo Locks in the search line.  I'll experiment and see if I can come up with something.

I've never had that happen before either to others or to myself.

Jane, try this.  I had sent the link to someone and copied from her e-mail and that is probably why things got twisted.  This is from YouTube.  I hope you can get it OK.

I just looked at Grand Haven and there are people on the ice.

Hi Everyone.  We have another beautiful day ahead.  I am just going to check in this morning as am really tired.  I didn't get to sleep until after 3 am.  I am having problems with my iPhone and while I found the instructions how to fix it when I went through the process it comes up with an error code.  Scott will be here in a little bit and am hopeful he can fix the problem.

I  just saw the link to the Soo  Locks on  Norm's page and really  enjoyed watching it.   I would have thought it would take longer for a ship to go  through.   It must be exciting to  watch it in person.

 Thanks Mary Ann for sharing.

Pretty  sunny day here in the mid -Atlantic.  And,  might even  hit  70º ,  but rain tomorrow.  Sure hope we have seen the end of the snow.

Have a good afternoon.

JOY, we're at 58º heading for a high of 60 today but our rain is supposed to start around midnight and last off and on until noon tomorrow.  At least it's not freezing.  It's supposed to stay in the high 50s overnight.  Do you think Spring  is on the way?  I whispered it so as not to scare it off.

Have not read any of the posts so will 'splain where I've been..........

I am back from MO & so tired I can hardly see this screen (glasses still in the RV). Absolutely worst wind I've ever driven in... from Jefferson City, MO this morning where it was in the 60s at daybreak.... to Wichita. Got home a little after 3:00 pm with plenty stops for cats to use litterbox. Found the side double gate to the pool area shattered, both panes of Lexan out & wood in shreds. The pool hose holder (huge RubberMaid storage) flattened & one half section of the top missing. NO idea how it could have blown out of the pool enclosure but must have!  Must get stuff out of the RV that I don't want left overnight... (okay, guns & jewelry  :D  ), I plugged it into power so I don't have to clean out frig & freezer tonight. I had 5 hours + a few minutes sleep last night, but Wednesday was all I hoped for. Daughter from St.Louis & son & wife were using their timeshare in Branson so drove to Jeff.City to join us. We found a great place to eat (even gluten free for daughter) & then on down along the MO River to a little town called Linn and other Bonnots MIll, where my parents grew up. WE visited the historical museum in Linn, sweetest lady showed us around & naturally, knew my cousins that still live in the area.... then on to Bonnots Mill (Lewis & Clark trail, original French fur trading post, then Dauphine & then named after a Bonnot (pronounced Bun-no), another relative. I pointed out the farm where the 3 ancestors that came from France in 1855 were buried... a cemetery on the back of their farm. Long story.......

Mary Ann,  that's amazing and so interesting.  Thanks for sharing!

]Welcome home, Shirley.  We had the same kind of wind from Tuesday evening through sunset last night.  Not a whole lot better today but getting there.

Callie, thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.  I know so many people are unaware of the Soo and the Locks.  When I was young, we could walk across the canal but I believe that is no longer possible because of security.  I also took a tour boat ride through an American lock then around to the Canadian lock where people were selling English candy in those pretty tins the English sell.  Both the lock trip and walking across the lock were many, many years ago, probably in the 1930s.

Shirley, that must have been some wind at your place.  I heard the wind here today, but not as destructive as yours.
