Three couples are trying to get married.

Three couples are trying to get married at the same church. There is a young couple, a middle-aged couple, and an elderly couple. The three couples meet with the priest and discuss when they can get married.

"If you wish to get married in my church, you must all go one month without having sex," says the priest.

One month later the three couples return to the church and talk to the priest. He then asks the elderly couple, "Have you completed the month without  sex?"

"Yes we have, it was easy," replies the elderly couple.

"How about you?" He asks the middle-aged couple.

"It was hard, but we didn't have sex for the whole month," they respond.

"And how about you two?" He asks the young couple.

"No we couldn't do it," responds the boyfriend.

"Tell me why," says the priest.

"Well my girlfriend had a can of corn in her hand and she accidentally dropped it. She bent over to pick it up and that's when it happened."
The priest then tells them, "You're not welcome in my church."

"We're not welcome in the supermarket either," says the boyfriend.

Good morning everyone. Warmed up to 40° yesterday and that is what it is now at 4:15am.  Not normal for mid May. I have a cough all of a sudden that kept me awake for 2 nights. Been trying to sleep sitting up, another night like that and I will be calling my doctor to check it out, if I can get a ride. If I get 2 hours sleep then I am lucky. Oh well, enough of my problems, and no it is not a cold.

BUBBLE  love the graphic of the Iris. I noticed yesterday looking out the window that a purple iris is in bloom here. Beautiful. Good jokes, thanks.  Thank you for the links to photos.

Lloyd wonderful family photo.

SHIRLEY  I am so tired of rain almost every day. If no rain it is cloudy and damp. We have had maybe  days so far that felt like spring.

Think I will go and try to get a few more Z's before CNA gets here.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been haunting the heating pad.  My back has decided not to straighten up without pain and I decided it was time for a couple of Ibuprophen and some heat.

Cold here this morning but no rain.

Love the opening, BUBBLE!

I'll be back later to see what everyone is up to.  Enjoy your day!

Good morning everyone
Oh my no rain! Maybe we can get the chimney cleaned today?? This has been an on going job but the rain keeps interfering   .The neighbour does it for us and it is not a long job just one that needs to be done each year a couple of times. Might get the cupboards cleaned out.......notice I say might as you never know how the day will go at times.

Jane ,do you have some voltaren , try some of that also on your back.

Gloria, I hope you can get a ride to the Dr to see what is causing that cough.

Bubble, thank you for the new start page and the giggles.

Time to get a wiggle in my hinney and get going.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Love the graphics & funnies, Bubble.... thank you for taking care of us. I will giggle every time I see a can of corn in the store from now on!

Have y'all noticed that WE are not in control anymore?  I plan a few things for the day (or week) and something else comes up to wipe out my plans. I float along with what ever can't be denied. Only thing I control is what to eat for breakfast, seriously, and I'd better get busy with that before something else takes over!  Can't crawl back in bed this morning, the yard guy really does come today so must go unlock gates. One of my 3 kids brought me a baby rabbit for my breakfast so had to bag it for the trash. Guess they think I have a funny way of eating.  :crazy2:  Oh, ICK!

Gloria, maybe that cough is caused by your BP meds? (I read about that... ::)  ) Take care, with all that damp cold it could be pneumonia, let the nurse listen to your lungs.... I tried that a couple years ago & discovered they don't listen anymore... "got to have an X-ray".

Jane, sorry the back is objecting to that yard work... Bet you will forget about it when those flowers are in full bloom.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Callie!  Think we have a couple days without rain & then a wild week end of storms. I will open the slide & put out the awning on the RV today in hopes of drying it out before the next round but will wait until the mower is done, the slide goes out over the grass. My eyes are itching this morning, GREEN is the color of the day. All of a sudden the trees are fully leafed out, grass & weeds going down the hill ankle high. AND, when I went down to the river last night the water has gone way down and a pair of geese had 15 babies in my little cove. I threw them the bread & those babies just zoomed around in the water munching it down.

Lloyd, I have a "battery boosted" bike coming tomorrow that I plan to take with me in the RV, too much trouble to pull a car & I couldn't find a way to haul my little motorcycle.  This one folds & can get up to 45 miles on a charge. I ordered the one with short tires for my short legs. At least I can cruise the campgrounds & hiking trails on it.  Since it won't go over 20 mph I can use it on sidewalks like a normal bike.

Better go fix my breakfast so I can get out to unlock gates. Have a cardinal singing it's heart out this morning, & a dove cooing.  The door is open & sounds of spring in the air. Can also hear the traffic from the bypass around the city.  :(

Good morning, Amy. I wondered how often you had your chimney cleaned. Lucky you have a neighbor to do the job. I've only heard of one chimney sweep around here so mine is in dire need, I think. Had a smile at your expression of "hinney"... my brother picked that up when he stayed with our uncle on their farm one summer. The whole area is German or French & I was told that is a German word (never looked it up since having a conputer to ask).

Yesterday and, so far today, we have had cool temps. and lots of sunshine.  Beautiful!  No rain so maybe all of you who are North of me will see beautiful weather, too.  Fingers crossed for you.  The plus side to all the rain we have had is that the woods and shrubs and flowers are just beautiful this year.  The woods are so thick that I cannot see down to the creek at all and if the deer are going through the backyard they would be hidden from my sight.  It is like living in a green cathedral with all the trees arching over the house.

Larry, I know you are dealing with so much right now and I think of you and pray for you and Pat while you are going through all of the changes you are having to adjust to.  My husband was to begin palliative care and then hospice but he died the day after the decision was made to begin the program. I've never heard of anything but good concerning hospice care.  They do everything they can to help and care for those who are in the program.

I'm sorry for those of you who are having trouble sleeping and hope that a good night's rest will come soon.

No laundry today!  I've caught up with the "regular stuff" and the winter things that need to go into storage can wait!  David helped me to change my sheets yesterday because it seems that I can no longer wrestle with that heavy mattress to get that dratted fitted sheet on straight and smooth.  So frustrating, and acceptance of the way things are now is not easy for me.   :tickedoff:  I'm embarrassed to complain about something that is so trivial compared to things other people have to wrestle with.

Amy, I laughed at your using the word "hinney".  My dad used to say that.  I think he picked it up when he spent time in Germany with the army of occupation after WW 1 armistice.

Hush up, Phyllis.  :sealedlips:  Talk to you all later.

Amy I have a tip for you that will keep your chimney clean easy. go to your feed store and buy a big bag of stock rock salt. when you have a hot fire in your stove/fireplace throw several hands full in the fire. do this regular and it will keep your flue clean. no more chimney sweep or chance of someone falling and getting hurt. this is what we have done for years and it is very clean just the black coat colear. no chimney  fires either have a great day.

Hi Everyone.  It is with the deepest sadness and through tears that I write this today.  I had a text from Ruth Ann Bice saying our beloved Pat Scott Halbach had suffered a most severe stroke yesterday morning and wasn't going to survive the day.  A few minutes after read the text I had a call from Paul Halbach who told me that Pat had not survived.  We have lost a dear friend to us all.  I really know nothing else other than Paul was with her when she had the stroke and immediately called for help.  This dear, lovely lady has suffered so much in the last three years but now is free from that pain and is with her Heavenly Father.

The only other thing I will write about today is Hospice.  I did quite a bit of reading last evening about Hospice and am anxious to talk to them.  I certainly will want the Home service.  They were wonderful to us at the time Stacey passed away and were tremendous help.  I am not being pessimistic but I had a blunt conversation with my cardiologist Monday and she confirmed what I knew that it will be a downward situation with me and that I am not going to be getting any better.  I am just thankful that I have most things in order to try to make it easier for Pat and Scott must take over what I do now and when my time is up.  Doing everything else I can to document and get our affairs in order will be my main focus for the immediate future.  I appreciate all of your comments and hope to be able to post here for sometime to come and since my life has been and will be an open book, I will share with you as much of my future journey as I am able.  Thanks for much for your comments about this situation and your own family experiences.

Good morning.  A pretty sunny morning, with no signs of rain.  Thank goodness!

I am so sorry to read about Pat Halbach.  She certainly was such a good friend to all of us for a very long time.  What sad news this morning.

For any of you that remember Bobbie Gould, I talked with her yesterday, as it was her birthday.  I had asked her if she keeps in touch with any of the former members that used to come here and she told me that she does keep in touch with Ruth Ann Bice. So, funny that Ruth Ann's name was mentioned here this morning.  Bobbie was the one who traveled across the country with her dog and wrote so many neat stories of her adventures.  I do try to keep in touch with her, but hadn't talked to her for a while.  She moved to Ohio to be near her daughter. She is in an assisted living home.  She has been on oxygen for a long time now.  She said she really wasn't able to do too much, but she does try to keep as busy as she can.  We didn't talk too long, so hopefully, I will be able to get back to her sometime.

Larry, I have heard nothing but good things about hospice care.  And, I really admire you for your strength and attitude.

I have been up for a good while, but not moving very fast.  I had to turn the heat up a little bit again this morning.  Hate to have to still be having the furnace on in the middle of May.  Hopefully, it will warm up by the week end and that will bring an end to running the furnace for a long time.

I did play cards last night and for a change, my partner and I did win.  That doesn't happen very often.  We hadn't played for a couple of weeks, so maybe I can call it a "new beginner's luck".  LOL

Gloria, I do hope that you will be able to get some relief from your cough.

And, Jane, hope the heating pad will help your back.  My back has been bothering me, but it does seem better.  I can't take anything except Tylenol, because I take Eliquis.  And, Tylenol doesn't really do that much for me. But, it is better, thank heavens.

Shirley, I had to laugh about you pedaling your little bike through the woods.  But, that sounds just like something you would do.  Have fun !!  and, enjoy your new "ride".

Greetings to all the other friends.  Have a wonderful day.

Joy

I almost forgot to thank Bubble for our new page and also for the cute little jokes and the pretty picture of the Iris. My mom used to grow all different colors of iris's.  Beautiful huge white ones and lots of the purple ones, also. It was always a favorite of mine, and you don't really see that many of them anymore.  At least, in my neck of the woods.
Thank you, Bubble.

Bubble thanks, and I Too like the iris.  A few years ago I planted about 10 around the house. Now I have none,I guess someone had a nice dinner

Another cool morning, Last Night went down to 39. Did someone say Spring?

What I like about Hospice is I can stay in my own home and my family can be with me. Of course in NY you go to one doctor.

Finally got my hair cute this morning. My hair dresser works at the Lemon Tree on weekends.

Good Morning,

I am so sorry to learn about Pat Halbach.  We met several times at Bashes and, once, when I was in her hometown on a tour.  At her request, I sent her an Oklahoma Eskimo Joe's tee shirt.  She will be missed.

Joy,  I remember Bobby Gould.  I vaguely remember meeting her somewhere locally on her travels.
Also remember Ruth Ann Bice.  Isn't she from Canada?  I think Helona and I played Bridge with her and her husband at a Bash.

I've had to have the furnace on for the past several days.  VERY unusual for May in Oklahoma!!!  However, it looks as if we are heading into summer "as usual" - meaning severe storms and more tornadoes for the rest of the month.

The last Soda Shoppe has disappeared so I don't remember if I commented that Grandson/friend stopped by to see if they could fish in the pond at the end of the street and I was looking to see what I could feed them.
I sent a dozen cookies with them to the pond; none were returned.  When they came back, they ate all of the 8 slider sandwiches I had in the fridge!  Glad I was able to "accommodate" them.  :smitten:

I'm about to "go shopping" on-line in my favorite catalogs.  Tog Shop is merging with Appleseed's and I'm going to take advantage of the "close-out" sale.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.  (Shirley- have a "Wonderous Wednesday  ;) )

Good morning EVERYFRIEND🥰🥰

I have a huge lump in my throat and tears after reading your news about Pat passing away, LARRY.  BLESS HER HEART, she has struggled for so long, and now she is at peace and meeting up again with her beloved Jack and Geordie💞💞  We are lucky in that we have seen Pat on many occasions.....she has been to our home and we have been to hers.

JOY, how nice to hear news about Bobbie. Thank you for sharing her news.  Congrats for being a winner last night!

JANE, I am sorry to read about your back ache.....now you MUST listen to the pain and TRY to take it easy.  Much too much bending over will do it every time💐

GLORIA, I am sorry to read about your cough.  I hope it will get better today or you must go see about it....wish I could come there and drive you❣️

GLORIA de, many years ago my dear grandma gave me bulbs from her most beautiful collection of iris.  I will never forget them....they were stunning to look at....so big in size and perfect.  Sadly, when we moved to AZ I did not think to dig up the bulbs and take them with me....so now they are only a memory.  No matter how hard I have tried, I have never been able to buy bulbs that are even near to what hers were. Right now I am dealing with critters eating plants and destroying my decorative out door pillows.  It is a Squirrel that is my issue right now.  He jumps in the middle of my big planter of flowers and smashes them down and breaks them off,  then he goes to another one and digs until he up roots many of the flowers🤬

CALLIE, how nice you had a visit from your grandson and his friend.....I know you took care of them....you are always prepared with food to fill their tummies!

SHIRLEY, I saw the picture of your electric bike last night on my iPad, where I had been reading about it and wondered if you got it ordered?  I see you did get it,... Good for you.

AMY, have you ever heard of Lloyd's suggestion of using rock salt to keep your chimney clean out?  If it would work it sure would help you out.  My family used the word "hinney" all the time, and I still do.  I see you do too, PHYLLIS .

I must get my HINNEY busy now, so enjoy the rest of your day!

Jenn

Had my shower & heading out on a major shopping spree, hope to have found a replacement for my Shark Navigator that Miss Callie liked so much she claimed it for her own & shorted out the whole thing. Can't believe how much it is missed. Also need to buy a bucket of chlorine tabs because the pool cover comes off this week end.  Have my list & checkbook in hand.

Glad I am going out, hearing about Pat Scott Halbecn added to the already sorrowful week. She has been our benefactor ever since Senior Net threw us under the bus, wonder if Paul will be able to hold us together or what will happen to this site.

Ruth Ann Bice is the sweet lady that came to sit with us when Cas' brother had the cancer surgery in Nashville/Vanderbilt. I think she remained until the doctor came out about midnight to tell what all they had to do. He had gone in at 6:00 am.

Thank you, Joy, for the news about Bobbie. I did try to call her but something happened that the call didn't go through, do not remember now why. I never head west to Colorado but that I think of her when I go through Greensburg, KS.... she had gone through at about the same time that a tornado completely demolished the whole town. I had met she & January (her dog) at the Walmart parking lot when she passed through Wichita heading west.

Lloyd, thank you for the offer of a rig to haul my Yamaha, but I gave up the idea after the "online" store that sells all types of carriers but insisted that I should not use one on this RV because "they wag too much" and are dangerous. My son looked at a motorhome in the campground last year, same size as mine & had a big motorcycle carrier on the back. It was welded to the frame & extremely heavy ... and would not have been easy to remove. I don't know how long I will be able to use these toys but think the little bike will fit my desire to run around a campground & even the trails. I will take a camera on my adventures!

Larry, like you, I am not afraid of death and appreciate how you are dealing with your life. You and Gloria de are such awesome examples for all of us, besides being good friends. I really mean that. I hope both of you can enjoy the time ahead, how ever long it may be, and that the rest of us are just as lucky to share the time with you. Remember, this is NOT a race and no telling which of us will reach that destination first. God Bless.

Jenny, my bike arrives tomorrow!  Yea!! :excited:

good evening Shirley, I feel the same about all of you, you are my dear friends.  When it it raining or snowing I always have my friends here to set and talk,  Gloria is just across the LI Sound, I feel like she is my neighbor. If I was going to the Cape, I can wave at her ;)
My mother use to say "You are going to be in that spot if you want to or not, when your time comes" and she was she was always saying watch out for those double tracks going into Charleston, she was 52 when she was struck by that train, which did not use its horn. The lawyer said my mother must have been well liked, as 20 witnesses came forward  I still could not sue

My mother always said Hinny.

Gloria de, your mother was awful young when she died. My grandfather had just turned 65 when he died after being hit by a train. He was near his home town on his personal "rail car". He was a telegrapher but was given one of those type cars that ran on the rails & was pumped up & down to make it go. My father also worked for the railroad & had his own car, but he was in the signal department & was always checking them all over that part of the state. Anyway, my grandfather was heading home when his rail car hit a big rock that fell from an overhanging bluff. After he crashed (my brother explained to me later) he was dazed & was hit by a train. He lived a couple days, I remember his funeral vividly and was the week of my 2nd birthday. Are you/were you an only child?  I don't know why I thought you grew up in England. I've always enjoyed your activities.

Time for me to get ready for bed. I never got a nap today & won't tomorrow. I have to be here to sign for that bike and the Fed-x trucks don't have any special time of day to deliver. For sure I want it at the garage door, would not be able to move it by myself!!! My son-in-law found a video showing how a 5 year old can put these bikes together.... I NEED a 5 year old 'cause I have a feeling I'm in trouble just getting it out of the box!  Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Good morning everyone...
WOW, we have sun! So nice to see first thing in the morning.
We had another load of wood delivered yesterday so we have our work cut out for us.

Lloyd, thank you, we will try the rock salt .I have read that potato peelings will also help to keep a chimney clean.

Jenny, no this is the first time I have heard about the salt. Our chimney was pretty clean as we keep a good hot fire burning.

Jane, hope your back is better today.

Time is slipping away on me.

Enjoy your day everyone.

OH WOW!  My computer was off last night and I had to do some finagling this morning to get it working.  I'm so glad it came on because the news is so good!  I'm really happy for the news about PAT SCOTT HALBACH!

However, if I turn up missing, it will probably be due to my computer misbehaving.  My health is misbehaving also but it's only a bad cold and is being dealt with.

I hope everyone is feeling up to par today and that you all have a good day.  I'm probably not going to do anything except veg out today.  I'll probably water the plants and throw a load of laundry in the washer (and the dryer and the dresser drawers) but only if I feel like it.

I'll try to come back later but if I don't make it....PHOOEY on the computer!

Good morning everyone, 45° to start and no rain now but chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.  I have not been outside since Saturday, will be getting cabin fever if I do not get out for fresh air soon. I did finally sleep better last night, got 4 straight hours before waking to cough. Had my CNA get me some menthol cough drops yesterday and they seemed to help right away.

JANE  sorry your back is hurting you, I know that feeling too well. I asked my doctor about a back brace but she did not want that, said muscles would get lazy and not hold me up. Heck by the end of the day they will not hold me up straight anyway. By then I am almost bent in half.

AMY  burning wood I know the chimney needs cleaning. Hope yours got cleaned out yesterday.

SHIRLEY  I don' t have BP meds. I am thankful that has always been near normal. Once a month there is a nurse that comes to the building to take BP for anyone who wants to be checked. She gives us a boo  to keep a record of the readings and so far mine does not vary much.

PHYLLIS  it has been a few years since I changed the sheets on the bed. Took me most of the day to do it. Had to keep stopping to rest. My CNA does it now but I help her, I do one side and she does the other. I get the corners of the bottom sheet on and then she does hers. Works good that way.

LLOYD  I am thinking there is nothing you cannot do or make to fit a job.  Like they say-experience is the best teacher. When money is scarce you make do with what you have or can make yourself.

LARRY  thank you for the news about our dear Pat. Wonder what will happen to S&F friends now. None of us can afford to keep it going. My prayers are with you. Love your outlook about the future. We should all be so brave.

JOY  I met Bobbie when she was traveling through the New England states. She had he dog January with her, wonderful dog. I invited her to stay in the house overnight but she wanted to sleep in her van. Like you I had the heat on yesterday, too. Almost every morning I turn it on to keep the dampness out. I must be one of the few that cannot take Tylenol, does nothing at all for me, rather take a couple of aspirin. My doctor told me that on the days my back is really hurting bad to take 2 aspirin between the hours of my  pain pills.

CALLIE  I have only a couple of catalogs I order from but lately I get at least 2 catalogs every day from places I never heard of. I just pull my name out of them and recycle them without looking in them. I get a laugh from the ones that say my last catalog  unless I place an order, a few weeks later I get another one from them.

JENNY  2 different ladies here have offered to take me to the doctors but they would have to put my rollator in their cars and one has a bad back and I would not want either of them to hurt themselves picking it up.

SHIRLEY  been years now since I was able to go shopping and browse through stores to see what was new and looking for just what I wanted. Going online to the stores I always went to is not the same thing.

Have a good day.

I have been having strange computer problems this morning, too.  I think I have finally gotten it straightened out.. I hope.

Has anyone had any further news of Pat Halback?  She is on my mind so much.

Another beautiful day here with rain on the way for the weekend.  But, I have enjoyed the last two or three days with nice weather.  Yesterday I took the car to the car wash and then we stopped for lunch at Panera's on the way home.  I hadn't been there in a long time and found that they have rearranged their seating and it was easier to move around with my rollator.  I enjoyed it.

Grocery shopping today so will get out and enjoy the weather again, if not the grocery shopping.  I must unload the dishwasher and eat some breakfast.  Time is awasting.

Hi Everyone.  Nice clear day here and to get up to 90 degrees this afternoon.  Just checking in this morning as have a doctor's appointment this about an hour.  For the first time in my adult life I had to ask my wife to help me get dressed this morning after working on it for well over an hour.  I seem to be getting weaker by the day.

Jackie, we are going to have to depend on Judy to keep us up dated on Pat Scott Halbach.  I did get a message that as of 7:30 last evening she was still alive and that is all I know.

It's HOT in Kansas! My AC man doesn't get here until next Tuesday & can't run it with the cover on.  :tissue:  The wind is blowing trees like they are little dandelions (only they aren't leaving the stems/trunks). This is the time I want to crawl in a hole & stay for the rest of the summer. (I'm whining again, Gloria)....

E-bike arrived today, got it OUT of the box... had to split the box down the sides & scoot it out, the front tire is not attached. I didn't open the little box inside right away so got online & copied the manual to print... 15 pages. THEN I opened the box & discovered they sent one. Got the battery charging but so many things to put together (it folds, you know) & so far it is still wearing all the wrapping, I'll work on it until #1 son shows up tomorrow to help.

One of the engineering professors that all 3 kids had (as well as most of the grands) funeral was this afternoon so the in-town kids went. He was dearly loved by all, one of those people that had polio early in life & remained in a wheelchair since. It didn't slow him down & was so loved by all he was a "family friend" long before I got to meet him. He was still teaching, not sure how old he was, but somehow AGE doesn't have a lot to do with dying.

If anyone is going to copy & paste messages to send to Pat & Paul Halbach, I'd like to add mine.

Pat, my thoughts and prayers are with you and want you to know how much you have meant to me for many years. When I first started looking at digital cameras I sought your advice, you are an amazing photographer. You have always been generous with your time and talent, helping all of us not only take better photos but opened a place where we could share them. I know you do BELIEVE and that God is watching over you, I pray that you recover and come back to visit with us. Paul, my prayer for you is that God gives you the strength to take care of Pat and yourself and the peace needed to accept His plans. My sincere appreciation for all that you both do for all of us.  And we have a new update. God is taking her home with Him. Sincere sympathy, Paul and all the family.  Shirley/Tisie in Kansas

Larry, I know you felt bad about bringing mis-information, but it really was so easy to accept what we have all dreaded hearing.... you heard what was said but God had other plans at that instant. You have been so busy organizing every part of your life for Pat & Scott it is easy to understand you wanted to let us know immediately. Personally, kind of nice to have someone else screw up now & then. I could have saved myself 15 pages of printing ink & paper if I had opened that little box before jumping the gun. Okay?  I still think Pat is a lucky girl to have you.

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Pat in person at the Williamsport Bash and of spending a little one-on-one time with her.  I will always cherish those minutes.  They were not enough but they were more than I ever expected.  She will remain in my memory for as long as I have a memory and I will hold her in my heart!  Love and best wishes and thoughts.  Jane Stamm, Central PA

Thank you, Bubble.  That is a wonderful picture of Pat. What a good friend she was to all of us.

I was up early this morning.  I woke up about 4 a.m. and just lying there staring into the dark was not very productive, so I just got up.  I have had my coffee and have done some catching up on things I had let slide.

I'm thinking of all of my friends who are dealing with sadness and worry and praying that they will find strength and comfort to get them through the day.

Good morning everyone...

Light mist here this  morning. We need to run into town to pick up some PT lumber to put under the piles of wood when we stack it. Nothing else is on the agenda  but as you all know we never know what the day will bring.

I am sorry for the loss of a good friend for all. Now Pat is with God and no longer in any pain.

Jenny, thinking of Michele today when she has her procedure, prayers for all .

Jane ,hope you feel better today. Bet your garden looks lovely too!

Shirley, you just reminded me I need to take my vehicle in and get the a/c work done on it.

Gloria, the chimney was cleaned and not much soot in it. We keep a good fire on and that helps keep the chimney clean.

Larry, may today be a better day for you. Don't feel bad at asking for help dressing. I have helped Kyle lots of times to get dressed. Buttons are the worse for him now due to the neuropathy. We bought shirts with snap buttons and that helped some.

Lloyd, hope you found the time to get your work done before it got too hot.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm really not feeling up to par today.  The darn cough has taken over and the head cold is still there.  I hate complaining because so many are so much worse than I am but I'm afraid it's time to call the Dr.  And as soon as they are open, that's what I'm going to do.  I wish you all a good day!

Hi Everyone.  I am up early this morning due to the fire alarm in our bedroom starting to beep every minute or so that the battery was low and needed to be changed.  This is a story of one of the little miracles in life that God gives us as it was certainly that.  It was only 5:45 in the morning.  The battery is very easy to change if one can get on a step stool to reach it as we have 9 foot ceilings that are up pretty high.  I was going to try to get up a step or two on the step stool, which I know I shouldn't eve try but certainly wasn't going to let Pat do it.  I was able to get dressed without any trouble today whereas yesterday it had taken help from Pat to finish doing it after working on it for 90 minutes.  I was headed to the garage for the step stool and had opened the garage door (Scott started installing a ramp for us last night but needed a different bit so it wasn't safe to go out the garage door.)  I had opened that door and am able to reach around for the switch to the big garage door.  I was headed to the front door when I saw that my good neighbor across the street had started his truck to back out for work.  So I flashed the outside garage flood light on and off and opened my front door and started waving. Fortunately  he happened to see the light and then me standing in the doorway waving frantically to him as he was heading up the street.  He stopped and got out and asked what was wrong.  I quickly told him and he got the step ladder out of the garage and quickly changed the battery and then was on his way to work.  All this took no more than 5 minutes so hopefully it didn't make him late to work. If that isn't an example of God looking out for us today I don't know what it could be.

So we are getting an early start to our day.  Our housekeeper will be here later this morning and Scott is coming back over to bring my new Rollator that the doctor prescribed yesterday and we had stopped at the drug store.  He went in to get it only to find they had sold out of this equipment earlier yesterday morning and it wouldn't be available until this morning.  He was able to go ahead and do all the paperwork with my identification and insurance card so they will call him this morning when they get new durable equipment in.  So he will be out as soon as that happens and will finish up the ramp.

Hopefully the next two or three days will be uneventful as this has been a very busy, very emotional and tiring week.

Shirley, that is a long time to wait for your A/C guy.  I guess if it gets too hot you can move to your Motor Home for a few days.  I hope your son gets over to help set up your motor bike.  I hope you and Jane see that Bubble has opened a special place to leave our remembrance of our dear Pat.

Jane, I am sorry to say that my memory has faded on the Williamsport Bash.  Did we also meet there? If not it was my loss but I feel as if I have known you a long time and cherish our friendship.  Glad you are calling your doctor before the cough and cold completely wear your out.  Hope you feel better quickly.  It seems you have been getting too many colds lately but suppose to get exposed at your register a lot.

Phyllis, get up early does have some advantages in we get a lot more done during the morning.  However, also nice to sleep in.

Amy, there is a great advantage of not knowing what each day may have in store for us that we have not anticipated for planned for.  It keeps are days from being boring although with all you do I expect boredom is not something that you often have time to experience.  Those buttons on men's shirts are a trial sometimes.  I have one shirt with snap in place of buttons.

I've been home from work for a while but I'm really feeling "under the weather'  and it's raining again and dreary so that doesn't help.  I did call the dr. this morning and she concluded that whatI'm already doing for the cold is what she would have recommended so I'll just continue.  As for my back, I have an appointment with the chiropractor in a couple of weeks.  Maybe that will help.  And I asked if there could be a connection between conking the front of one's head and ending up with a painful back.  She said "absolutely"!  That is definitely possible.  So I guess I do still have the rediduals from the head conk!

I'll make an attempt later to move my comments re, Pat Halbach to the correct folder but right now, I don't feel like it.

LARRY, if we met in Williamsport, I've forgotten.  However, we had lots of interaction through the book exchange on the old Senior Net.  I think you ran that and I sure made good use of it.

I'm off to feed the doggies and myself and then to vegetate!  Enjoy the rest of your day!

I am sorry to post so late, but did want to tell a bit of news about Michele today.  Thank you, AMY, for remembering to mention her procedure today.

Dave sent us this message early this afternoon....

Great news. Michele is doing well. They just did her MRI which is a higher resolution that the one she had a few weeks ago. There are only 4 lesions. With all of the current information they think that these were there previously but are now more apparent due to some edema from her chemotherapy. They are very pleased as are we. They are about to start the gamma knife procedure and will want another MRI in about three months. All of this is great news.

Any news that sounds positive is such a blessing.  Sadly, she had a very bad headache and got home and went straight to bed.

We got up at 5AM  and got to their home just after six.  They left right away, and we got the kiddos off to school.....it has been a long day, so I must head off to bed.

I hope you all are resting well.

LARRY, happy your neighbor could help you this morning!  Definitely a GOD SEND!  Did I read correctly and you and Pat were at the Williamsport Bash??

Good morning. A beautiful sunny morning that is most welcomed after so many rainy mornings.

I commented on Jenny's wonderful news over on Norm's page, but just want to repeat how happy I am to hear the encouraging news about Michele.  Always nice to know all of our prayers are working.  I know they are encouraged, also.

I only have a minute or two, as I have a baby shower to go to today, and since my son is working near where it will be, I am going to hitch a ride with him.  I will be a little early, but that is ok.  It is at a niece;s  house and she knows I am coming a little early.  So, since it takes me so long to get myself together, I like to give myself a lot of time to get ready.  I think he will be coming in his truck, so that will be a funny picture of me climbing into his truck.  Luckily, it is a van-type truck and has a running board, which does help.

Anyway, I hope everyone will have a nice day and that everyone will be enjoying the nice weather like here on the east coast.  We are so ready for some nice warm days.

Joy

Good morning everyone, looks like we are in for a dry week end. Seems like years since we had a sunny weekend.  Should not complain about all the rain we have had, not as bad as the places with the flooding but very miserable after day after day of it. Not the rain as much as the dampness. 50° to start the day and tomorrow the weather guessers are saying a high of 80°. Normal, one day we freeze and the next day it is hot and summer-like.

JANE  like you I have a cold and it is something I seldom get and it wears me out. The coughing is the worse part of it. I  talked  to my doc tor yesterday and she said what I have been doing is about all that can be done for it.

JENNY  the news about Michele sounds wonderful, thank God.

Have a good day, think I will go back to bed.

Good morning everyone.

A lovely sunny day here this morning. We pile all but 1 1/2 cords of wood yesterday and will finish it today. I think even my eye lashes are sore!! Will do laundry and hang it out before doing the wood.

Made yogurt yesterday and need to put it into containers some time today.

Jenny that is good news, thank you for sharing..May all her reports be good news.

Bubble thank you for posting the photos from Shirley. She amazes me in what she does.

Gloria, hope you feel better soon. A summer cold is not nice as it likes to linger. :(

Joy, I could visualize you stepping up into that truck :) Have a fun time at the baby shower.

Lloyd ,hope today is mishap free day....think it is about time you had one of those.

Well, I slept in....my body was yelling don't get up but the day wears on and work to do.

Enjoy your day everyone..

I'm here finally and loving all the good and encouraging news that I am reading.

Take it easy, Shirley, and I agree that a helmet is a must....even for little jaunts around the campground.  But, I have to say, that looks like fun.  Oh, if I were just a little....a lot....younger.  :2funny:

All is well here.  Going to be hot but that is what summer does.

I'll check in later....maybe.  Meanwhile, make it a GOOD one today.

Quick Hurrah for Michele!  Great news, Jenn, prayers continue for the next rewarding but agonizing step she must endure before a final cure.  Thank you for the good news of the day!

Gloria, do hope you heal fast, somehow feeling bad is so much worse in the spring.

Hope that head conk is not a permanent pain, Jane! (((hugs)))

Thank you, Bubble, for posting the photos. I debated whether to send the one with ME on the bike but didn't get one of the bike alone. It was steaming hot & I had changed to find the coolest, baggiest shirt I owned... did not expect to get on the bike so fast since the battery had only a short charge. I had made a few runs up & down the street so hair was sticking out.

I don't plan to wear a helmet, Amy, they heat up my head to exploding. Have one for the Yahama but since NO law that says I must wear, I won't. The rest of my body is no good messed up so if they don't make a suit of armor to protect it, that head can't run around on it's own!! So, there.... (but thanks for the concern).

Lloyd, I think you may need to take Bob along when you head out.... he is such a good friend & seems to be able to do about anything. I am pretty sure my hair was this white when we met in Sedalia but so many to visit with you didn't notice. We had Bunnie & Gene along with Doris & Jim-Herb as well as you, your mother & Jeff... and my brother & sister & their spouses, as well as Cas. It was a good crowd, sadly, 8 of them gone now.

These RVs are a constant need of work, mine needs an oil change before going to Colorado, & all tires checked. Tires have been a problem from the beginning. My unit went back to the factory right after I bought it, because the slide out was not on it's track right & wasn't able to fix local. I make sure it is perfectly level before putting the slide out & can imagine being stuck in a campground because it wouldn't slide back in. When my sons are camped near by I don't worry as much, but I can't fix everything they can! Good luck with getting on the road. My next problem is seeing how I can put that bike inside, but I do have a little rack that will fit into the hitch if needed, that means I need to get a ramp to run it up on. I think it will go into the side door with a little help, but may end up getting a folding ramp for the steps. By the time I get all organized I may be too old to travel!  (That'll be the day........)

Joy, I do remember when Cas had a Jeep Grand Cherokee how I had to dangle from the seat to get out. His pick up that came next did have a running board so was much easier. Love your family outings & all that delicious food they fix. You seem to have the best of both worlds, not having house maintenance to worry about & yet a very full life with family & people around to play cards with!

I have not had my breakfast. Had a phone call at 4:30 am... that stops the heart, right?  A man saying he had a call from this number the day before so wanted to see who it was. I assured him it was NOT ME!  I no more crawled back in bed when it rang again.. and hung up. So I got up anyway & it rang again. This time the guy apologized for calling & explained "he had been on the road".... but he was in Kansas so knew it was still too early to call anyone! I decided to go back to bed for another hour or so, got up & fed cats & they are all sound asleep in their own spaces & I am still at the computer!

We plan to take the cover off the pool today if storms don't get here too soon. Son & his son wanted to do the job instead of me paying the regular pool guy. I will pay them the same, but they don't object to draining the pool & re-filling with my well water so I don't have to use all those chemicals to turn the green water to sparkling blue. Have to add chlorine to the pool & that is all... so no icky smell. Son wanted his son to learn how to do this so he can earn the extra money. He is back in college for his Masters in Mechanical Engineering. His first degree is in Bio-med Engineering, but not enough jobs for those guys so switching degrees for a broader job field. Dad is along to show him how to put the pump back together & do all the necessary things when opening, but I'm sure he will insist "the kid" get all the money. Sure is gray out, those storms may show up sooner & will put off the pool job for tomorrow. 'Tis the season~

Better get moving.... again, Bubble, thank you for posting & to all, thanks for the nice comments. That really isn't a picture of a "nice little old lady" on that bike, is it?  :D

Oh, NO, not you, too, Phyllis. No helmet for me, my head is used to bumps & stitches. At 84 we never know how long we can do these crazy things so will just enjoy while I can.

Hi Everyone. It is another clear and hot day here in South Carolina with it to get over 90 degrees this afternoon.  Yesterday was a productive day that got started very early.  I did accomplish quite a few things here in my office but had pushed myself too much and by 7 PM had no energy left.  I tried to make it into my office one more time to get something but made it only a few steps and could go no further so had to sit down on my new Rollator and rest for awhile and then went immediately to bed for the night and it was a long night where I had to fight off several what I call panic attacks when I suddenly felt I couldn't breathe and had to sit up on the side of the bed for awhile.  For the last several days have been having restless leg spells in my right leg during the night and early morning.

Scott finished putting in the ramp in the garage but they decided it is too steep as was only three feet.  So we will return it.  Unfortunately, I will have to pay the return shipping by UPS but the company is arranging the pickup here at the house.  They will reduce the refund by the shipping amount.  I ordered a four foot different type ramp and hope it will work.  I did get the sandals I had ordered but have to return them as my feet are to swollen to wear them.  So I will have to look for something else.

Scott advised us last evening that he has made arrangement to get the Comcast Internet reduced speed from what he has had and the phones so he will have reliable phone service in his house.  His cell phone usage has always been off and on and often the calls won't go through.  He wants us to be able to call him and be able to speak to him.  He still was able to save $10 a month over what he was paying.  We are going to offer to get him the portable phones to use with the system once it is installed next week and we see what is needed.

My neighbor was here this morning to help me with the fire alarm situation and then we sat and visited for quite a while, which was most enjoyable.  As a are result didn't get my breakfast finished until noon and have run out of energy.  So just going to check in and then quickly read the postings I haven't read here and will be back tomorrow.

Shirley, not me sending you the gully washer. What woke me up this morning is heading toward Lloyd.

Jenny,  I also saw the hopeful news about Michele as I was heading to bed.
Didn't get in to comment first thing this morning because I was rudely awakened by my cell phone squawking about a flash flood warning.  The TV weather gurus were all excited about a small tornado that had briefly touched down in southwestern Oklahoma and that that storm cell was headed toward the metro. So I got up and started my day faster than I like.
Severe stuff fizzled out before anything got to my house but it has been raining steadily forat least 3 hours.

Anyway.....so glad to see good news about Michele and hope the next procedure goes well, also.

Shirley, love the pic of you and your bike but I agree you should protect your head while riding around campgrounds.  So many new helmet designs these days that surely you could find one that works for you.

Larry, problem with pix on my phone is that I want to change the email account I'd send them from and don't know how to do that.  Dil who takes care of such things will get around to it one of these days.

Janie,  so sorry you're still snuffly and achey. Hope you feel better very soon.

More storms expected later this afternoon.  Don'tthink we have any Soda Shoppers in the direction they're coming from so I can't fuss at anyone.  ;D

Enjoy your day, aeveryfriend

Hi Everyone. In reading the postings I see a couple of things I do want to add a comment about.

Jane, I did start and run the book exchange for several years and it was very successful as we didn't buy and sell book and the only cost on the exchange was paying the postage cost of the mailing.  We exchanged over 2500 books and I was never made aware of a problem with it in terms of postage reimbursement.

Shirley, I do encourage you to change your thinking about the helmet.  I have now known or known of two people who were killed on bikes when they feel and hit their heads.  One was a member of our Church just within the last two weeks.

Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for MAY 15,2019

Et tu, Brute?  :tissue:  , Callie? But I don't want to be an example, I want to just cruise along. I'm trying to think of how to set the various controls to the simplest usage, different settings for speeds so why pedal?  I did think "step through" was going to be lower, but practice will help. You were right about the rain heading for Lloyd. We got a little rain so far but the thunder was interesting (to say the least). It would rollllll & rolllllll some more, like I remember hearing as a kid. Another band of storms to the west but looks like they may go north of us. Keeping the temps down, that suits me fine since it got a little warm in the house yesterday. Says it is 66° so will open the doors again & chill the house down.

Jane, I have 2 crape myrtle shrubs growing so fast I am afraid to wait to move them until cold weather. Also a hawthorn tree that I am excited to get planted in a permanent spot. Have a circle cut in the concrete in the pool area that will grow anything faster than I can replant. You wouldn't believe how many red bud trees I moved to that spot when a few inches tall & in a year they were waist high. I just wiggle them with a long butcher knife that I bought at an estate sale for that purpose.... long pointed.... my mother had one like that she kept in the yard all the time. I pull them out dry root & put them into a bucket with "root tone" & pour some of that into the hole when I plant. The yard guy that I was married to hated to mow around anything but the guys I hire can't complain or they can mow somewhere else! If you can't have things the way you want than you switch gears & have what you like, right? Do hope you feel better fast, we lose a lot of muscle strength when we go down even for a day or so. Hugs to you.

Here it is, 3:18 pm & I have nothing to show for the day. Had a nice nap, though, & a bowl of grapefruit sections waiting to eat. I do love that stuff but the big jars are so expensive. When in season I will buy a bag full & peel them all & put in a big Tupperware bowl with lid, refrigerate & eat out of it. Yum.... of course, I put lots of sugar in mine so probably not as good for the body .... but I don't have a problem with sugar. Like I said before, life changes so we may as well enjoy every day as much as possible. This is the first time in my life I have nobody else to ask what or when to eat, can't change the conditions so smile and make the best of it. Good thing we aren't all alike or the world would be one silly place!   Jane,  :P   ;)

Wood is all piled, laundry in off the line and put right back on the bed, the front lawn is fertilized and that is it for the day!!

Calling for rain tomorrow and Monday. Rhubarb may get picked and put into a rhubarb pineapple sauce too!!

Jane, rest, drink lots of water and don't forget Shirley Epsom salt bath to sooth your muscles/back ache.

Shirley, growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. I like to think we are all kids at heart no matter how old we are.

Larry, we have two ramps one from the garage to the house and one at the front of the house to the verandah. Kyle built them for our friend to use, little did we know that we would also be using them and the ambulance people too! They are a blessing to us.

Going to put my feet up, I think...

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm sitting here trying to decide if I feel well enough to get ready and go to church.  If I have a morning like yesterday, I wouldn't want to be among people, even good friends like those at church.  I'm one of those who want to be left alone when I'm sick.  I think I'll go take a shower and see what develops!  Wish me well!  As I wish all of you well!

I was up at 5 but awake at 3.  Just one of those nights that from time to time happens and that we just have to get through.  Not feeling bad just couldn't sleep.

I'm the same as you, Jane.  When I don't feel well I just want to crawl into bed and have everyone leave me alone.  Of course, I want them somewhere close by in case I need help.  Guess I want it both ways.  ::)

I'm glad you will at least think about a helmet, Shirley.  A hot helmet is a much better option than a concussion or a fractured skull and it only takes one miss-hap at even a slow speed to have a bad outcome.

I'll get off my soap box and go get another cup of coffee.  I have a feeling this is going to be a day that I spend a lot of time in the recliner doing as little as possible.

Take care, All.

Good morning, Friends!  Fitbit tells me I got one minute shy of 5 hours sleep. That is pretty good for a Sunday morning. I will nap another day, this one will be busy taking the cover off the pool & doing what is necessary (putting the pump back together, draining & refilling with fresh water AFTER doing the blasting with the power washer, etc)... Gr-son & son wanted the job this year & it would have been less stress for me if the pool guy was doing. It is at least a $250 job either way & hopefully give the gr-son experience to earn more than "hourly" at his part time jobs during college. We don't get back from church & breakfast at McDonald's until about 9:30 so will be a long day, rain or shine. I am seriously envying everyone not having to worry about house maintenance.....  Must go eat a little breakfast so I can take my aspirin... can't take on an empty stomach & skipped yesterday as I'm guessing it was the cause of "stomach burn" this week. Maybe it was stress with everyone nagging me about wearing a helmet!  :2funny:   Wishing all a Super Sunday with smiles from ear to ear!

I agree with Jane ,Phyliss and Gloria, I too like to be left alone when not feeling well.

Going to do a lot of nothing today.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hi Everyone.  It is another clear and soon to be a very hot day in the mid to high 90's.  I saw on the weather map that yesterday we had the hottest temperature in the whole USA and they expect us to get to 100 this coming Saturday.

I am going to be brief in my comments this morning as it is already after eleven am and I am just now getting to my office. I do want to share the great news (think we all needed some of that after this last week) and that is Oldiesman posted in CP that he will be taking over ownership of this website and so our discussions will be able to continue.  Aren't we fortunate to have such a kind and caring man who is willing to do this for us all.  I know this is a big concern to probably all of us.

Yay Oldiesman!  Thank you for stepping up!

I made it to church, stayed for coffee hour and even went by WM and replenished some of my supplies.  My daughter stopped by around noon or so and asked me if I have any white thread.  I said, "doesn't everyone?"  She admitted that she didn't but she does now.

I went looking for something in the bathroom closet yesterday and ended up cleaning it out.  I have a rather large bag of throwaways and nice clean shelves and neatly stacked items.  And I know what's in there!

It's supposed to start raining any time now but it's not cold with it.  The temp got into the low 80s today.  I'm loving it!  Also feeling better!

I hope you are all having a good day and feeling up to par!

Haha, but Sandy, I've already had many really bad cracks on the noggin from rollerskating backwards to doing a flip on the concrete porch & head flipping back hard enough on a brick wall to need a stitch, (no time for X-ray). Seriously, I am as comfortable on a bike as I am walking.... in fact, probably safer, I tripped over a cat when I cracked my head that last time.

Pool is all done, it wasn't so bad to need draining & fresh water put in & will be sparkling in a couple days IF we don't get a lot of rain to wash all the dirt that had settled around the cover back into the water. They were at it so fast I didn't get a chance to wash that dust away & rain tomorrow will do it's dirty deed to dump back into the pool. Got the bottom vacuumed & will need to do it again tomorrow as it settles the ickies out of the water.

Larry, I am more than relieved at the news from Oldiesman.... and hope that includes us as well as CP. Thanks! Sure hope you don't have to get out in that heat, nothing drains my energy more than to get too hot. I've told the doctors for years that, "I don't have a thermostat in my body".... temps keep going up like sitting in the sun in the car & the AC down so cold it would almost freeze water... but my blood just starts to simmer.

I'll join the rest of you girls in being alone when I don't feel well. I can't relax when anyone else is in the house but no problem "doin' nuthin" when I'm alone.  Going to try for a couple hours sleep since I had expected to be working on the pool all afternoon, Sunday is a day of rest, right?  Nasty weather predicted for tomorrow & next day.

Jane, 3 cheers for a clean closet! I have a couple boxes in one closet with shirts/tops that I wasn't ready to get rid of last time I went through things & have not opened them since. Should I even look inside or just take to the DAV or Goodwill?  Guess I will look, more times than not I find clothes from years ago that I like better than what I've been wearing.

Jane, so happy to read you are feeling better. I need to shock a few of my cupboards/drawers also.

Shirley, I do understand about the biking, I feel the same way when I kayak and folks tell me to put my life jacket on. So used to going without as we were all taught to swim like fish!

And, Amy, I can't tread water so wouldn't go near without a life jacket. It is all what we are & born to be. The pool is already pretty & blue just hours after taking the cover off. I've vacuumed it twice because the filter dumps the ickies to the bottom & I couldn't wait until tomorrow to see it sparkle. Been here more than 30 years & first time it has been this little trouble. Thanks for the link, I'll go thank the new "boss".

Gloria, hope you are feeling better this evening. I'm ready to go have a bowl of the grapefruit slices... I could eat that whole big jar full BuT... actually tastes better today than the Russell Stover turtles I bought at 75% off after Easter! I have about half that box gone since discovering it in the little frig in the basement. ;D  I'm feeling my oats today, one more major job taken care of.

Good Evening, still very tired. slept 10 hours yesterday unheard of for me ,  /still felt tired.  I had Ferina and blue buries to day, but do not feel like anything else.  Shirley is wanting to to have a dish of grape fruit,

Mary Ann they did have nice weather for the golf although they kept saying rain.

Gloria de... I have not heard of Ferina since I was a kid! My mother used to fix for us, all the different cooked cereals. We never had cold cereal that I can remember. I also loved sweet rice (milk, sugar & cinnamon), I did make that for my kids. Sure wish I could share my appetite with all of you that are never hungry!

I'm going to get ready for bed, the cats had their "midnight snack" early & are all outside. They are tired today because Andy & his son, Evan, were here working on the pool so they were out in the pool area & down to the basement where half the stuff they needed was stored. The cats have seen them since they were born but they don't think anyone else belongs in their house so they ran from one area to another!

We didn't get the storm that the weather guessers were calling for  but we may get one today. We did take more garbage to the dump yesterday ,old tires and the recycle went. Made a pot of baked beans and it only took one hour in the Instant Pot!!! Today will be spaghetti and this will take 10-12 min...amazing machine it is.

Callie, stay safe ...don't want to see you blowing in the wind..

Gloria de....we haven't had Ferina but have had Red River or as I call it bird seed ,Cream of Wheat and oatmeal all good hot cereal.

Hope everyone is feeling good today..

Enjoy your day..

Good morning everyone, weather forecasters were off again. Forecast was for a dry sunny week end. Saturday was beautiful, yesterday cloudy and periods of rain. That makes 14 weekends in a row with rain.. Rained overnight again, every thing is wet outside again. As much as I dislike the space it takes up I think I will be asking my son to put my AC in. Getting warmer and humid.  I really cannot take the summer weather anymore. Supposed to get up to 79° today, hope they are wrong again. Don't think my son would be happy with a call asking to put the AC in, they just got back from 2 weeks in Hawaii.

SHIRLEY  I agree with the others, get a helmet. You would scold your family members for not wearing one but you are one stubborn lady with the attitude of "cannot happen to me".

LARRY  thank you for the news from Oldiesman. I think we were all worried what would happen to S&F.

OLDIESMAN  thank you so much for taking over and keeping us together.

Think I will either go back to bed or lay on the couch, keep yawning, not good way to start the day.
Have a good day.

Good morning to all the early friends.

Amy, Jane, Callie, and Gloria.... you all are up and "at em" early.

I have had breakfast and just stopping by here for a few minutes.  I need to do a few chores before I get my hair done at 12:30..   Those couple hours will fly by so quick.  I just do not get things done as quickly as I used to.

It is a pretty sunny morning and supposed to be up in the 80's and humid.  Most of the time, those temperatures are for down in the city and we usually are several degrees cooler than what the weatherman says.  I hope to sit outside for a little while later.

Gloria, many times when I get up, as soon as I have breakfast, I snuggle up in my recliner and go back to sleep.  I always have such a hard time waking up.  I am definitely not a morning person.

Jane, have a good day at WM.

Callie, hope your weather doesn't turn out as bad as the prediction.  Please be safe !!!

Amy, I sure wish I could get around to using my Instant Pot.  Everytime I think I am ready to take it out of the box, I see a lot of people telling all about their "failures" and that really discourages me.  I know people that just love their IP, but I am not as thrilled with what I read as I was before I got it.  I have not even taken it out of the box.  One of these days, I guess I will just have to "bite the bullet" and just do it.

I hope you all and all the other friends will have a wonderful day.

Thanks to Oldiesmann for keeping us all together.

Joy

Well, I'm up but not really 'attem.  I was aching a lot last night so took a couple of Tylenol at bedtime.  I slept very well but am still so groggy this morning that I feel like a zombie.  Coffee is helping me rejoin the world.

Amy, I have resisted getting an InstaPot but you you make it sound very appealing. But, where on earth would I put it???  The cupboards and countertops are full of other stuff I thought I needed to make cooking easier.  :(

Michael (Oldiesman) has several websites that he maintains so it is very generous of him to take on responsibility for S&F and keep it going.  He understands how important this site is to us more....ahem...."mature" people.

Good morning, Joy.  I'm usually better in the morning than later in the day but not this morning.  I'm trying to stay away from the recliner but it looks really inviting today.

Must get the day started.

Merry Monday,

Still here and, so far, no storms in the immediate area. Shirley and Lloyd don't need to get out the nets for a safe landing just yet.  :D

Joy, I was actually up late with my last post.  You'll probably never see me "at 'em" as early as Amy and Jane.  As I've said before,  I'm not slow; I just do things "leisurely" - and mornings are definitely at leisure!

Will probably spend most of my day in the recliner or at the computer.....hopefully not in the "hidey hole" which, in my case, is a closet in the middle of the house and behind my bathroom.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for MAY 15,2019

I came home from work tired right down to my toenails!  It was a very busy day and trying to find time to blow my nose, cough and get extra fluids into my system in addition to being nice to the customers and not breathing my germs on their food made for a very stressful day.

I came home, let the doggies out, gave them their snack and hit tie sofa.  It was loaded with zzzzs and was more than willing to share. I slept for almost 2 hours and coming back to life, took some time.  I might still be sleeping if the new yard guy hadn't called to say he wants to come by and get started on my projects tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to that.  We're hoping to eliminate the mud that the dogs track in.

CALLIE, I have vivid memories of being at Cindy's in Texas when they had a tornado warning.  Her "Hidey Hole" is a very large closet under the stairs and when I looked in, there were already two kids and two very large dogs in there.  Cindy was waiting to go in.  My claustrophobia almost caused a panic attack.  I opted for the bathroom across the hall.  It was a little guest bathroom and was also on an inside wall.  The only loose object in there was a mirror over the sink.  I set it on the floor with the glass facing the wall, removed everything from the back of the toilet and my doggie and I took up residence on the floor.  A little claustrophobia but doable.

I'm getting my "get up and go" back and it's a good thing because both dogs are going to the Vet to have teeth pulled tomorrow.  We're hoping that's their biggest problem and that both will feel better when the job is done and the they are healed.  Gonna be a busy day tomorrow with doggies and yard man.

I hope you all had a good day and that it continues through the night.  You all deserve the best!

May chicken out & turn the furnace back on... down right chilly here. Can't believe how dark & cloudy all day, think only a couple inches of rain but the ground was already soggy. The pool is up to the top again... so much for pretty.  >:(

Cats have had their supper, Tiger wanted out to sit under the patio table to watch it rain, Tom hunkered down by an inside wall (guess he's watched too much news about were it's safe in the house).... and Callie is under the bench by the fireplace. They are not happy with the weather.

I'm going to heat up a pot of those beans & ham, had the rest of the ribs for lunch, along with more of the grapefruit. My body is needing salads but no salad fixings in the house. Have some potatoes & fresh grease in the "fry baby" so will make some french fries for comfort food. It has been a peaceful day, did nothing but eat & sleep. Didn't watch ANY news to get upset over so hope the world got along without me.

Sorry you are feeling rotten, Jane.... spring colds are the pits! Most of the time I get on the computer & watch radar & listen to a local radio station that has people running all around the county to watch for tornados or other weather messes.... Now & then I will gather up my purse, cameras & stuff I can't live without & take to the basement & come back up to keep watch out the doors. I am not thrilled to be in a basement where the upstairs could come down on one plus having the gas & water pipes break & either drown or explode. The trees are whipping so bad today I fully expect to see one of them topple over with roots in the air. Not a straight line wind but they go back & forth like snapping a whip. Hope the pups do well for the vet, poor babies... :smitten:

well I got up at 4:00 A M and went by my self down to A R V salvage on I44 and got the parts we need to fix the slide out so it will work again. and a right hand mirror to replace the one I knocked off on the sign post.so first day with out rain for a few hours will put them on. hope that will be tomorrow. so god willing we will get on the road in the next 2 0r 3 days. two or three hours will let us put the repairs in place. and same amount will let us load food and clothes in it. we are currently for the last three or so getting thunder storms and some straight line wind's. the 300 miles driving has me wore out. Nancy had turned the power off to the heat / air out of the dash and I never thought about that, looked every control on the dash except that one. started out chilly then the sun came out reversed that for a while.
i got back and stopped at Bobs, He got in on passenger side an looked and reached over and turned it on,simple fix ( showed me ) how bad my short term bran dose not work Proper. so it is time I get to bed with my BY papt Machine on wishing you all sweet dreams and goodnight. Hope to see you all tomorrow.

Good morning everyone...

Cloudy day  here,no rain as of yet and we missed both T storms that they were calling for.

Today is blood work for hubby, stop in and see if I can get my a/c fixed at the garage, stop at the repair fella and see if we can take the lawn mower that doesn't want to run to him. I need to phone for more wood and phone the vet for an appointment for Babe. I think an e-ray is in order on her hip and we need more meds.

Lloyd, hope you fine the parts and time to fix your motorhome..

Shirley, we have a fire on, it may go out later but in the morning it takes the chill away.

Jane, you have a busy day today. Give the puppies lots of huggies. Hope you are feeling better today.

Phyllis, thank goodness for the IP company changed their arrival time plus 4 more showed up so into the pot went the fixing for spaghetti, double the amount and in 20 min it was done>So along with other fixings on the table a group of 10 at a hearty meal.

Callie, are you ok??

Gloria de, hope you are feeling better today.

Gloria, I am with you I also don't care to fry. You just reminded me I should take the cover off of our a/c.

Joy, I would love to sleep in but with 2 dogs that want up ,out and their breakfast one doesn't get much of a chance to sleep in.

Larry, hope you are feeling better and have a great day today.

Jenny, love your new avatar. How is Michele doing?

Roley, good morning to you if your taking a moment to have a peek in.

Better get going...

Enjoy your day everyone.

Been up more than an hour, fed cats & me.... but rain won't stop so all 3 cats have gone back to sleep. They are pitiful after so many days inside. No end to rain so will watch for any short break so they can get out. They won't even go outside the pool fence unless I go with them, for fear they can't dash back inside if rain starts. They have 3 litter boxes in the house plus Callie thinks she has to have the "training" pads, so it keeps me busy cleaning up after them!

Lloyd, not sure where all this rain comes from or is heading, but hope you have weather check on your RV to warn you of flooded roads, looks like KS is one big puddle. Stay safe!  If you plan to come through Wichita I sent you my phone number to give me a "heads up". I do have a cardio appointment that can't be changed & since on the other side of town, takes up most of the day. Have a grandaughter's wedding plus daughter coming in town for that, AC man due today but will probably have to postpone because of rain.... I do want to be able to meet y'all where ever you land. I check e-mail often so it is the best way to catch me. My "Voice mail" that picks up on the phone will NOT let me retrieve the messages. No amount of complaints from me is going to change that unless I want to completely drop that account and open a new one. That would be a nightmare so just warn everyone to not bother using the voice mail. Messages go to that if a call comes in when I am on the phone, other wise, it will go to my answering machine that I can get.  Do be safe, lots of roads flooding right now & it will be heading down stream so will follow you as you go south.

Will have to put on rain boots, coat & hood, can't use umbrellas in this wind, to go pump water out of the pool & turn that pump off for a while. It has been running since Sunday & don't want to burn it out in case the skimmer basket gets too full & makes it work too hard.

Callie, weather people warning about OK being in such a mess with flooding & wind damage. Hope you are okay, would appreciate you turning off the faucet!

Good morning, Amy. Sounds like you have a busy day/week ahead.  More wood??  :o

Good morning everyone. It got hot here yesterday 87°and lucky it was not humid. Will have to call my son and ask him to get my AC in. I dislike the portable one but we were told on moving in that we had to have that kind and no window ones. Take s a big chunk out of the room that is not too big to begin with. Just heard that the first sub-tropical storm has formed in the Atlantic.

SHIRLEY  I like pink grapefruit with NO sugar. I like it better than an orange. For years I was taking cholesterol meds and could not eat grapefruit-stops the meds from working right. Now that pill was dropped and I can enjoy grapefruit again.

JOY  like you it takes me hours to do something I used to do fast. Hate that feeling. Thank goodness I have a good CNA that does things above her job description. I used to be up early in the mornings and ready to get moving. Now I hate getting out of bed and just want to go back to sleep.

PHYLLIS  like you I have no place for anything more on my counters are small so no room anything else.

GLORIA de  hope you felt better as the day went on yesterday.

CALLIE  takes me so long to get started in the mornings I feel like I am lazy. When I say that to my CNA she tells me I am not lazy, just conserving my energy.

Have a good day.

Good Morning All!  The doggies are at the vet and it's awfully quiet around here!  I hated having to trick them out of breakfast this morning.  But it worked out pretty good.  After we waited for the boinger, instead of going in the kitchen for breakfast, we put on the leashes, went outside and got in the car.

I have to work on paper work this morning until the yard guy gets here then we shall see!  I hope you all dry out and the wind settles.  It's sunshiny here but a bit cooler.  Good day for yard work!

Amy, thank goodness I never have to feed as many as you do!  That would send me into a panic now.  Didn't use to worry about an extra plate or more on the table but now I am just not up to it.  However, I like to cook ahead and I'm so glad that my David doesn't mind leftovers so I'm getting closer to the InstaPot.  We'll see.  Still trying to think where I could put it...... :-\

Sun is up and it is a pretty morning.  Not supposed to be quite as hot today so I think it will be a good day to go have the car checked to make sure all of its "innards" are ok. I called the dealer and they said it would take about an hour and a half to two hours.  I'll take my Galaxy pad along and do some reading or surfing.  The waiting room at the dealer's has Wi-Fi.  Yay!

Gloria, when we moved to this house I was delighted to have much more counter and cupboard space than I had in our house in New York.  It didn't take me long to fill it up.  I am a terrible collector.  Every new kitchen appliance is something I think I need to have.  That isn't necessarily so.     ::)

Take special care, Everyone!

Phyllis ..

Perhaps is it time for you you
re evaluate the "stuff" that you have
on your counters,  and leave only
the ones that you actually use.  or
expect to use in the future.

I do that all the time and it
is amazing the amount of space
that I can free  up !!

Hi Everyone.  Blistering hot days here in South Carolina in the very high 90 and Memorial Day is to be 101 or higher.  I am sorry I didn't get back here yesterday afternoon but ran into problems with my laptop computer and by afternoon was very tired.  Unfortunately I didn't get a wink of sleep last night or yesterday and am on fumes today so will just check in and perhaps make a comment or two as I go back and read the postings for the last two days.  Pat just reminded me I could take a Benedril and that should help me sleep so, even though I have several other things I want to get done here in my office, rest is more important and hope I can sleep for a few hours.

Oklahoma Weather Report:
Statewide:  11...maybe 12 or 13...tornadoes, a few large enough to make the news,  lots of hail storms but not huge size hail stones,  LOTS of flooding that will continue as big rivers flow into smaller creeks, etc.  Noon news reported 22 water rescues along streets and highways this morning.

My immediate area: Heard thunder in the distance during the night and rain on my roof - no hail, at least none large enough to hear.
Yard is very soggy but no standing water. However, son who lives on other side of town reported 4.5 inches of rain in his gauge between 8:30 last night and 6:30 this morning.
I had errands within two miles of my house in different directions this morning and saw no standing water anywhere.
Now seeing patchy blue sky and sunshine.  Noon weather reports it will be warm and muggy but there should be no more rain "for a few days".

All is well in my world.

(Shirley,  sorry, I couldn't reach far enough to turn off the faucet heading in your direction.)

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

My rain gauge shows slightly under 4" of rain.... so that river is higher than last week because the ground was already soggy & full up!  Last week it was the highest I'd seen in over 30 years but this week topped it! Roads are flooding all over the state & I notice a flowering (HUGE) tree across the street went over, doesn't look like it damaged anything since it fell on their driveway. I can hear my trees on the river (IN the river now) hanging on by their roots & yelling for help.

I went to Menards to pick up my Shark Navigator, got it put together & charging. Boy, have I missed that cleaning tool for a couple weeks. I have a piece of poster board hanging around the new one with a piece of elastic.... will be watching these cats like a hawk. Tom & Callie are guilty of "marking" their territory when down along the river & I will make them stay out if I catch either one doing that in the house again!  Tom never did it until Callie moved in.

Weather lady is saying we still have tornado & T-storm warnings and watches in Kansas, more to come! AC man to come on Friday since he couldn't come today. I expect those poor yard guys are pulling their hair out with not being able to mow regular for a couple weeks & it being so tall it takes twice as long to do the job. I wanted them to lower their blades the last few weeks but they say they can't, it slows them down too much. I have some Bermuda grass that would like to spread if it could get more sunlight. I have a John Deere in the shed & tempted to get it out & do myself. Will have to make adjustments for my short legs. I tried to drive it when Cas was alive & discovered I couldn't reach the clutch to shut it down! My problem today was son tightened the lid on the "basket" inside the pool pump & I can't get it off to clean the leaves out that I vacuumed up. Need to vac again when the rain stops.

Better fix me something to eat. I worked up an appetite "stewin' & frettin' ".......Take care, Every Friend!

The doggies came through their visit with the vet ready to come home.  They've been mostly inactive since they got home and I've spent the time trying to make them understand that I still  love them.  I think they know because they've never left me since they got back.  Now I have to chase them outside and go to bed.

Have a happy sleep and a good tomorrow.

Burrrr, winter is back! 🤬🤬. Crazy storm causing all kinds of plant and tree damage with heavy snow and freezing temperatures.

We enjoyed a few wonderful days spending time with our new little Grandson, Jonah and his parents. The time just passed much too quickly, so I am feeling really let down that the visit is over.

Today is Dr. Dave's Birthday , so we had dinner together at their home tonight.  I wanted to cook a meal for them but Michele ordered out and Bob went and picked it up.  We had a cake for him and a gift.  Michele did sit at the table with us and stayed for the Happy Birthday song, but then she had to head off to bed. She has been trying so hard to be more involved but she can only be up for so long and then she must rest.  She will have a week off from her chemo treatment due to the holiday, and we are hopeful she might regain some of her strength.  🙏🙏

LARRY, I certainly hope and pray that you are sleeping tonight and will awake reste.  Nothing worse than not being able to sleep.

Thank you, AMY, for the comment on my new avatar....I just could not resist sharing a picture of my boy!  He and his family arrived back in California this afternoon, but they did have a couple of delays leaving Denver due to the ice and snow.

I hope you all have a good night of rest.

Good sunny morning to everyone...

Yesterday was a lot of hurry up and wait. Blod clinis was full so we went back later in the day for hubby's blood draw. Garage was also full to the brim and I am to phone today to see if he can get my van in. Wood order has been placed , now wait and see when he delivers. I did get an appointment at the vet for 11 am tomorrow for Babe .Stopped in at the fix all place to see if we could bring the lawn mower in and he is also full, behind he said for two weeks!!  So I stopped at a business where our friends work and asked if he had time to check on it and he stopped in after work and now the mower is going!

Today is garage ,maybe then clean up around home and pick some rhubarb to cook up with some pineapple for a sauce.

Listeneing to the loon call at the moment. went to sleep listening to them last night.  Need to get ready in case today the van can get fixed..I sure hope so as hot weather is coming and we need the a/c for the dogs.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good Morning!  The doggies spent a good night and ate breakfast as usual this morning.

JENNY!  please do something about that weather!  My daughter and the other side of her family are trickling into Denver all this week for a wedding on Saturday.  My daughter and her immediate family will be arriving on Friday.  We're all praying for nice weather because Cathy and family decided that since they're going that far anyway, they might as well take a vacation and see the area and do some fun things.  I hope they don't have to do it all in winter coats and boots.  Worse yet, I hope they don't get snowed out!

I think the doggies want to go out again!  I'll try to get back later.  In the meantime, enjoy your day!

The sun is coming up and I don't think it will be too hot.  Yesterday was beautiful....temp. in the mid-80's and cloudless blue sky.  Humidity was down.  It is supposed to be mostly cloudy later today and hot again on the weekend.

I got the car in for the 10,000 mile maintenance.  I kind of held my breath that they might find some problem but everything is OK.  whew!

Kind of a boring day today with only household laundry to do.  But, I deal with boring better than I do with panic these days.  :o

Happy Birthday to Dr. Dave, Jenny.  It was nice that Michelle felt like she could join the family dinner for a little while.  Still praying for her.

Good morning, Lloyd, Jane and Amy, and all who will come along later.

Take care, Everyone.

Good morning everyone, looks like we are in for a good day with weather today with less wind than yesterday.  Weather guessers are saying a good weekend for a change with no rain. Will believe it when I see it.

PHYLLIS  like you when I think of the meals I cooked for a crowd I wonder how I did it. Now it is hard to cook even just for me. When I moved here I had to get rid of many kitchen appliances I had, no room here.

LARRY  hope you slept better last night. I have nights when I don't get any sleep and feel worn out all the next day.

CALLIE  glad those tornadoes stayed away from you and your family.

SHIRLEY  I remember once when you posted a picture of the river flooded over it's banks.

JENNY  your Jonah looks like an armful, so cute. Michele sure is a fighter, that is good.

AMY  wonder how we enjoyed driving before we got AC in our cars.

Have a good day.

Good morning.  Pretty sunny morning here in the east.  We have had a nice reprieve from all the rain that the so many places are going through.  It is supposed to be nice throughout the holiday week end.  Maybe some very scattered thunderstorms, but not bad enough to cancel any plans.

I have no plans until Monday, when we all will go out to dinner for my middle son's birthday.

Jenny, glad that Michele was able to join the family for a little while.  I still have her in my prayers.

Larry, hope you will have a better day.  You are in my prayers, also.

Gloria, I hope your weather is good enough that you can get outside for a little while, anyway.  I, too, do not fix any big meals anymore. I was at a shower for one of my great nieces last Sat. and the next generation, after mine, did a fantastic job with all the arrangements, food and decorations. I told one of my nieces, that our generation has turned all the parties and get togethers over to their generation now.  We did our share for so many years, and really enjoyed doing it, but it is time for us to retire.  I don't mind taking a simple dish, but they did such a great job with the shower, that it will be their jobs now.  I can remember some of the big parties that my sister-in-laws planned and put together. We all were always so afraid that we would run out of food, that we used to go overboard.  The younger ones these days, do tend to be a little less generous with what they bring.  But, they will learn.  LOL  We have such a big family that it takes a lot when we all are together.  But, it was fun, and I do miss doing all what we did.

Amy, sounds like you will be busy today.

Good morning to you, also,  Jane, Phyllis, Lloyd, Larry, Shirley and anyone that I have missed.  Hope today will be a good one for everyone.

Joy

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another hot day today getting up to 93 this afternoon with the possibility of some popup showers.

I am happy that last night I got 6 good hours of sleep after being awake from Monday morning until after 8 pm last evening and getting extremely tired.  I feel refreshed this morning and with a new feeling of optimism in my life.

Things moved quickly yesterday afternoon starting about 2:30 when I called the Hospice people to inquire if they had received the papers from my cardiologist office.  She hadn't but said she would immediately contact that office and call me back in a few minutes, which she did saying she now had the papers in hand.  Things worked out that the Hospice nurse came to the house within and hour or so and spent the next two hours plus with us explaining what their program involved.  After learning what Hospice would do for me over the remaining days of my life I signed up.  She explained they try to improve the patients quality of life and don't try to fix the heart or other things that bring us to the point of going on hospice since I have already spent 30 years having done to my heart all they can do medically.

When I asked her about the cost I was totally floored when she told me there will never be an expense to me as everything is covered 100% by the Medicare Part A.  This is such a gift to me in terms of peace of mind that what we have saved  will not be eaten up by my care and thus will be available to assure that Pat has as good a quality of life at the standard we now enjoy.  The second thing I like is that I will be able to spend my remaining days here at home with the medical caregivers coming to me rather than having to ever get out again for these never ending medical appointment.  Probably the only exception is getting to the dentists.

Today they will be bringing some medical equipment that will help me such as a wheelchair and new medicine as they will be changing my medicines.  She said they would work on getting the fluid buildup reduced which will greatly reduce the terrible shortness of breath, get my appetite restored and having a sleeping pill to be sure I can get adequate sleep .  These things alone will improve my quality of life. Initially we will start out with just one visit a week by one of their professional nursing staff and then as needed in the future other other people will come as needed.  Pat will remain my primary care giver but if I can get to feeling stronger I will be able to help and reduce the load on her which will make me happy.

She said I may well be able to drive again and get to Church and Sunday School and eat out sometimes in the future as they get some of these other issues taken care of.  I had given up hope of that ever being a possibility.  I know that the progression of my medical situation will continue downward but at least I can expect to feel better on the "trip".  I am one of those fortunate people who do not live with constant pain and after my tailbone heals I don't expect to have much pain other than some angina, which is well controlled by medicine. My current doctors will no longer be in the picture and my care will be handled by one of the three Hospice physicians.

I have gone on long enough and knowing me I will be sharing my journey with you all through our discussions.  I am one fortunate man to have a loving family, many friends, and having a good home and income.  I also have no fear of death whether it be soon or many months away and being given the freedom to live the rest of my days as I want and feel able is certainly a gift. (In looking at the length of my postings so far I think I may have overdone it today and will try to be more restrained.  I know going under Hospice care is a strange thing to get excited about if but I am excited about it.)

Lloyd, hope you have a pleasant day today and the storms are over for at least a while.

Shirley, is your river subject to a lot of water input from other locations?  Where we live rain and snow melt North of us always impacts our rivers. You know that all that "stewin' and frettin" doesn't do a thing for you other than giving you anxiety.

Jane, dogs are very forgiving.  Glad that procedure is over for them both and they are back to normal today.  I bet you are giving them a lot of extra attention if they feel like being bothered. Did you have to work today at your register?

Lindancer, one of these day when you feel up to it please call so we can compare notes on Hospice.  I am hoping that the nurse assistance of aid that will be coming to see me each week will be able to trim my 8 toenails (my two big toenails have been removed) as that is the only reason I need to see the foot doctor.

Jenny, I agree with you the lack of sleep really has a major impact on our outlook on life.  Flying or traveling in general those last few days in a major part of the country has been very dicey.

Lloyd, be careful with getting your RV fixed and loaded as certainly know you are anxious to be on the road.

Amy, nice you found someone who was able to get your mower going for you.  I have been meaning to ask you exactly what is VON.  Is it anything like our Hospice care?  Reading about your making some sauce with rhubarb sends a chill up my back as I really don't like rhubarb.  Does your husband have bad circulation in his legs and feet and thus they are always cold.  I know mine are most of the time unless they have been under the covers for awhile.  I usually put a thrown over my legs and feet when sitting in my easy chair and wear a jacket or sweater almost all the time. At the same time my wife is always hot. Fortunately our king size bed is two twins that separate a bit so we each can have the bed covers that suit us best and I want mine several layers.

Phyllis, I always am apprehensive when I have had to have anything done on the car whether just routine maintenance or something else as they usually find something else that needs attention.  With such low mileage is your car still under warranty?  Is there something wrong with "boring days"?  I welcome them as can always find something to keep myself entertained and busy.

Gloria, as you probably read above I did get good restful sleep last night and feel renewed this morning although sense I am wearing down (probably from typing such long postings today).

Joy, it seems there are a lot of birthday this time of the year.  You have a few days to rest up before the next birthday celebration for your son.

In a rush but am so thrilled with your newsy post today, Larry, just can't wait until I shower & go to the store to comment. It is so good to hear you are pleased with the information and attention from Hospice, worry at all of our "age & stage" is not good for us. A big thank you for sharing the information, just like our buddy Gloria de.... we don't all get this type factual information from any of the medical fields and many people are not willing to talk about these things. You are thoughtful and generous with your life and I wish you a long time to share your thoughts with us. I am happy this takes a burden from you!

Be back to visit with everyone after while. Much to do today, have already run the vac in the pool & want to put on boots to go take pics of the new record high of the river.  Then a shower, trim & wash my hair and a trip to the store. Not a good time of day for picture taking but will do it anyway!  Wishing all a Wonderful Wednesday! (It ain't rainin' here, Callie).

JANE, I am doing my best to get the weather to cooperate so your family will be able to enjoy their time in Colorado.  In watching the weather guesser, they are saying it will be nice on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with temps in the mid 70's.  The next couple of days a bit cooler then it will
be back in the 70's again.  AT LEAST there is no snow in the near future! 🤣🤣. I certainly hope they will enjoy their time here.

LARRY, I really liked what I read today in your post.  I am sure you felt quite relieved after knowing the facts about being in Hospice.  I sure appreciate you sharing this information with us and hope you will continue to do so in the future.

GLORIA, Jonah is indeed a arm full but he sure is sweet❣️ He is rolling all over the place and is able to pull himself forward, but can not stay up on his knees long enough to crawl.  It will not be long though. They just change so quickly, as you well know.

Thank you, PHYLLIS for the HB Day wishes for Dave.  On the 28th he and Michele will be celebrating 25 years of marriage.....Sadly, it won't be the celebration that we might have hoped for, but they will feel blessed to have this many years together for sure.  Glad they did not find any problems with your car when you took it in for service.

Pools were scheduled to open this weekend, but due to the recent snow and cold temperatures they all seem to be on hold.  Many of the mountain passes and camp grounds will also remain closed.  The amounts of snow pack have all surpassed many yearly averages and now the discussion of flooding is beginning.

We did not go pick up the children today....Michele felt she could do it, so that is a positive step today.  It is a good thing it worked out that way as we both are feeling a bit under the weather.  Bob is coughing badly and feels like he has a cold....AND he woke up with pain in the big toe of his foot, so another gout attack has started.  He did get a prescription from the doctor to try the next time he has an attack, so he took the pills and he thinks it is feeling better. I hope it works.... We will see.

It is starting to rain again, so we continue with lower temps and moisture....we must not complain but the snow sure did a lot of damage to many trees in its path.

Enjoy the rest of your evening, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

Came home from work again today totally wiped out!  It's days like this week that I think seriously of becoming a "lady of leisure"!

The news is so good today!  LARRY, I loved your long post and your news of Hospice.  It sounds like it's going to be a great move for you.  I wish you well!

JENNY, what good news that Michele felt like picking up the kids.  I bet they were surprised....and pleased!

Also, thanks for keeping an eye on the weather.  My SIL was here this afternoon to mow my grass one more time before they leave and he and my daughter....and I'm sure my grandson and granddaughter, too....are keeping an eye on the weather via their phones.  Since I've been to Colorado a few times, I cant wait for the reports from them as to what they see and do.  They are staying all of next week to take in the sights.  First on their agenda is a baseball game.  They are ALL baseball fans!  And the boys are going to go fly fishing one afternoon

I think I'll go back and continue my job of "couch potato" until it's time to go to bed.  I have a few things planned for tomorrow but it's just "stuff"!

Have a good night and a good tomorrow!

Good morning everyone..
We had a busy day yesterday, the garage was too busy to fix the vehicle so Fri is the day I hope. Today we are taking Babe to the vet to see what is causing the problem with her hind leg. She will favour it when she gets up yet if you throw a  ball outside for Jesse she is off like a shot after it also.

Our last load of wood came and needs to be piled ,thank you Bubble for posting the photo. Will see how much energy is left after the trip to the vet.

Larry VON is Victorian Order of Nurses. We first got them when Kyle had his PICC line in for his chemo. They would check his line, clean it plus take BP listen to his lungs and heart. We have had VON for almost 3 years now and now the visits are done. I really appreciated them coming and checking as with Kyle's A FIB  ,congested heart ,his RA and the after math of chemo they gave me some peace of mind that everything was in order.

Jane, happy to read the puppies are ok. Hope you have an easy day today.

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm up and trying to get "attem".  I have a couple things planned but it's supposed to rain this afternoon (like that's news!) so I better get moving and get the outside stuff done before Mother Nature takes over.

AMY and SHIRLEY (BUBBLE, too)  I loved the pictures.  Made some comments on them over in photos.

I better get moving!  You all have a good day!

Larry, it is good to read your post.  It sounded so optimistic.  I hope you will continue to tell us of your experience with Hospice care.  It would help me to make an informed decision when the time comes to choose end of life options, or my family if I am unable to make such a decision

Also, to answer your question....my car is almost 10 years old and has only 10,000 miles on it so it has long been without warranty.  I felt that if a repair problem arose I could probably handle it financially whether I decided to have it repaired or to get rid of it so never purchased an extended warranty.  It is a 2010 Ford Escape and has been one of the most trouble free cars we have ever had.  It serves my purpose very well.  Also, I am long over the days when I thought a new car was exciting.

Such upbeat news from Everyone yesterday.  It has made me feel so good to read through it.  Please keep all of the positive things going.

Grocery shopping today....again!  But, I will get it done before the forecasted hot weather comes in.  And, also before the Memorial day shoppers hit the grocery store, I hope.  So, I am up and away.

Good morning.  I am just making an appearance.  Too early for anything new to report.

I, too, was happy to read Larry's message yesterday.  Sure did sound like his "ole self" .  I know it gave him such a peaceful feeling, just knowing that he would be getting such good care.  I have not ever heard anything but good things about Hospice care.  I wasn't aware of all that it covered.

Amy, I can remember getting a load of wood that looked like that. I don't remember having to help stack it, as my husband and sons would do that job.  That was a long time ago, when we lived in the woods and had a wood stove.  When we move to that house in the woods, I was so excited about having a wood stove, but that excitement didn't last too long.  Wasn't too long when the novelty wore off and I would turn the furnace on.

I need to get myself dressed and see what I can find to do.  I do plan to bake a pie today.  Tonight I will play cards.

Have a wonderful day.  Hi to Bubble, Jane, Shirley, Phyllis, Lloyd and all the other friends.

Joy

Good Morning,

Larry, so good to read your optimistic post.  You have a great attitude and I know the Hospice care will be good for you and for Pat.   Prayers and gentle hugs to you.

Amy, that's a BIG wood pile!  I remember when a chipmunk got into ours in Leadville CO.  It was late in the summer and trying to catch it kept the neighborhood kids from being bored right before school started.  They never did - but, then, I'm not too sure they really tried all that hard....more fun to plot and try out their "great plans".  :)

Shirley,  is that the Arkansas ("ar-KANSAS"  ;) ) river?

For those who aren't familiar with our geography, that river (ar-kan-saw) becomes a shipping channel to the Mississippi River by the time it reaches Tulsa.  A town downstream from there was evacuated yesterday because of danger that a dam would break and flood the town.  Residents were told they "remained at their own risk" and to use permanent markers to write their names and pertinent information on their arms in case they drowned.  I have never heard this suggestion.

You may see news stories about houses falling into the Cimarron River when the banks eroded. This happened about 20 miles from me and I watched it live on local t.v.  According to the reporter on the scene, the families got out but may not have been able to save belongings.

Oklahoma has three major rivers flowing all the way across the middle of the state (Cimarron, North Canadian and South Canadian).  All are way over flood stage - as are the many major lakes, particularly in the east half of the state.
Almost all of the parks at the lakes are closed for the holiday weekend because of high water.

So far, the metro OKC area has escaped disastrous events - although a local lake is closed.

Hope those in Missouri and points east/north will be safe.

I need to finish getting ready for company tomorrow night.  Haven't had an overnight guest in so long that I barely remember what to do!

Callie, I saw some of the flooded Cimarron River on the Weather Channel yesterday and I was hoping people could get their belongings out but it appears they may not have been able to do that.  Some of the homes were right at the edge of the river.

One year on a trip my dad and I took 50 or 60 years ago (maybe more), we drove beside the Cimarron River in New Mexico and people were camping out between the river and road.  It was allowed then, but probably not now.

Clear day today and the sun is shining.  Temperature in the 70s - beautiful day.

Hi Everyone. It has been a rather difficult morning as very short of breath.  I will be getting medical equipment, including  a wheelchair, which should make it easier to get around in the house.  I am so happy I signed up with Hospice on Tuesday as they have been so responsive and caring.  Yesterday afternoon the social worker was here and besides the delivery of the medical equipment, someone else is coming by today and I think it is the Chaplain.  I was very touched yesterday when the Social worker told me she and the Chaplain had already discussed finding a way to get me back to Church, although I am going to have to get to feeling better before I would considerate it.  Yesterday morning one of the ministers from my Church stopped by for a short visit.  Last evening when the girls and Scott were here I told them I was now under Hospice Care.  I hope they deliver the new medicine they are putting me on which is suppose to help me get a little more energy and start to get some of this fluid off my body which is causing such shortness of breath.  Fortunately typing doesn't take much energy.

Larry, now you understand what I am saying about Hospice the next day I had my equipment and meds.] Everybody come to see me and the social worker comes once every two week and makes sure I am satisfied. the nurse is here twice a week I have signed up for 6 months then they just extended it. I can even have a bed,  the foot doctor was here yesterday. I understand every state has there rules and regulations. Florida is the best the girls said. You can sign up for a year. I also have and aide she comes for 2 hours and does anything I want done, making bed, fixing lunch, doing wash etc. 3 days a week

Back from the vet and she said that Babes leg is looking a bit better and this does take time to heal. We came home with pain meds and tick and flea meds. While there we weighed our not yet 6 month old pup the one that weighed 10 lbs when we got him is now 59.4 lbs and still growing!! Pouring rain and he thinks I should go out and play Frisbee with him.

Larry, I agree with the others ,so great to see your posts and now you also have your life in order with Hospice. That sure sounds like a blessing to have.

Thanks for all the comments about the cats, river & pool. More rain off & on today & now a tornado watch for us. The river is muddy and the pool doesn't sparkle right now. Been a busy day starting off about 3:00 am with a cat waking me up. Couldn't go back to sleep so gave up & had breakfast & went back to bed about 6:00 am only to have the phone wake me up about 8:30 with a call from a friend I haven't see for nearly 30 years.

The only thing planned for today was a 1:00 appointment with the cardiologist for the 4 week check up after stents. Then the AC company called to ask if they could come today instead of tomorrow (rain). I explained my appointment so agreed "if he could be there ASAP!"

Took longer than I would have liked but finally hopped in the shower & washed my hair, got me ready & across town in time. Dr still thinks I should have the aortic valve replaced again since "fixing that one will help the other one get better & it is much less invasive surgery". So we will talk about it in October. I'm cleared to go camping, just not to over do the hiking in high altitude.

Got home to find a call from the mowing guys, called them back & they were on their way, went to unlock gates. Everyone trying to catch up while they can. I unlocked & locked the gates, fed cats & tried to get a nap in after they were done. Need to eat, been doing this too often, eating late, & have gained several pounds. Doesn't help that my little red car turns into Braum's for a "twisty" every time I get out..  (choc/vanilla frozen yogurt cone). Yummy!

Been trying to catch news of the storms that hit my home town of Jefferson City, MO. Still have quite a few cousins living there but haven't tried to call. If they had damage they wouldn't want to take time out to talk!

About the Cimmaron River, out in Western Kansas most of the year it is dry, but like the Arkansas River, runs underground. At some point it joins the Arkansas River. I have a photo of a sign in a National Forest campground in CO saying that "This is the headwater of the Arkansas River".  It is right along the Continental Divide. No way to put a bottle in & have it float all the way to my house.

I'm going to try to get to bed early, sweet dreams to all & God Bless.

Shirley, the source of the Arkansas river is in the middle of the Climax molybdenum mine, immediately north of Leadville.  It's a creek west of town and the boys could jump across it.  The continental divide is along the mountain range a few miles west of the river.
The North Canadian river joins the Arkansas in eastern Oklahoma at or near the town I mentioned being evacuated (Webber's Falls).
I don't think the dam broke but two barges slammed into it (NBC news showed this) and they're keeping a close eye on things.

As I type, there's a huge damaging tornado barreling through the far northwest part of the state.
However, it was a lovely evening here and I spent some time with my flowers, birds and rabbit...who doesn't mind me being in the yard as long as I don't start toward him.

Sleep well, everyfriend, and have pleasant dreams.

Haha, that's funny, Callie. Got a photo of the wooden plaque saying it is in the National Forest campground on top of Monarch Pass..... You suppose it was a bunch of "trickles" that got together & drained down along the foothills of the mountains so everyone could do the rafting, etc.... ???  I forgot about this, phone rang & I went on to bed. Not going to worry about where that river behind me got the first start, it is a real river this week! I know the Divide wiggles around & some places more east than others, a straight line on a map I think Leadville is more east than Salida or Monarch Pass.

It is now almost 4:30 am, had a cat at my bedroom door so got up to let her in. Tom was inside and found Callie(cat) waiting at the front door. I'm going back to bed. I stopped to have a look at radar but the computer had shut itself down (another update) and so the story goes, this was open when it started up. Not feeding anyone, cats have bowls of dry food if they are super hungry.

Good night and good morning!

:) Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's a beautiful day in Central Pennsylvania!  The sun is shining!  The birdies are chirping!  And all the stinky skunks are somewhere else!

I'm waiting for my neighbor to come over and look at the place that needs to be dug up and see if he's willing to use his rototiller on it.  It sure would save Christy some time and muscle!  I asked him to look at it and decide if it was something he would do and I told him "no hard feelings" if he decided he'd rather not!

I'm all dressed and ready for work so when he comes over, I can run outside to talk.

I hope you all have a great day!  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning.  I am just marking my place .

It is a pretty  sunny morning here and supposed to be a beautiful weekend.  Maybe some very scattered showers late on Monday. It is about time for a nice weekend.

Good morning, Jane, Gloria, Phyllis,  Lloyd and Shirley.

Shirley, glad you didn't have any weather related problems.  Glad that you were able to go back to bed.

It was so chilly when I first got up, I was ready to go back to bed, also. Sat in the recliner and bundled up with my fleece coverlet and it took a little while to get fully awake.  I am not a morning person.

I am waiting for the maintenance man to come and put a new part in my A/C.  I really haven't needed it yet, but they are calling for 90º on Sunday.  Since I am on the north side of the building, I hardly get any sun at all, and my apartment stays pretty comfortable most of the time.  Sometimes, in the evening it feels a little stuffy and I do turn it on.   But, my electric bill in the summer helps to makeup what I spend in the winter.

I hope all the friends will have a nice Friday.

Joy

Joy, 90F?  Here for the last three days we have 102.2F!

Also raging forest/field fires around Jerusalem that forced the evacuation of some moshavim (village) and loss of houses.
On top of that the South is getting incendiary balloons from over the border and the loss of crops with those fires are heart breaking.

The firemen have a tough job in this heat.

Bubble,  I was surprised to read about the forest fires around Jerusalem.  Don't think of that area having many forests.  Always thought of that area being kind of desert-like.  There were so many forest fires out in the western part of the US  last year and neighborhoods being destroyed.  So, I will think differently about your area.  I guess all the world there are a lot of similar problems that we just don't hear about in the states.

Also, getting the incendiary bombs that destroy crops is also very sad. When I hear things on the news about your country and the area around there, I often wonder if you have those problems around where you live.  Do you feel safe in the area where you actually live.  The whole world is very vulnerable right now.  I hate to think what will be happening when my great-grandchildren are grown.

We can have temperatures up in the low 100's, but not too often.

Hello all.Just looking in to say a quick hello, looking back at some of the messages I noticed your little greeting Amy, thank you, that was kind of you,, sorry I took so long to reply but things are rather 'hectic' at the moment, what with checking the little apartment we have just agreed to buy, then arranging for the surveyors report etc, as someone told me, it's a stressful time ! to say the least, the love of my life payed the first visit to the retirement block, then my Grandson took me to have a look yesterday, just to confirm things, so now the process begins !, with luck,we hope to make the move before the end of the summer !,even poor old Lloyd has had to take a back seat for these past few weeks but now the end I in sight I should 'I hope' soon get back to keeping in contact and perhaps a little bit more of my  'Armchair Travelling' again, Larry, I wish you nothing but the best, i'm sure you have made the right decision with the hospice care, they give nothing but the best here and i'm sure it is the same in your part world, a good choice mate !,now it's time for me to get ready to finish off my little piece and wish everone a good evening and again say thanks to Amy.
                                      Cheerio for now.  Roley.  :)

Joy, I live on the seaside, no forest nearby and it is at present one of the safest place to live in. We had our share of terror attacks about ten years ago but now- touch wood- that is in the past.

The forest around J'lem are all man-made, planted after the creation of the State and well cared for. For years people were "buying trees" to commemorate a love one or as present for special events like weddings or anniversaries. :)

Good Afternoon,

This is a  :walking2: day but I wanted to tell Shirley her comment created an opportunity for me to learn something new  today!

According to Google, A Headwater is a tributary stream of a river close to or forming part of its source.  So the flow from Monarch Pass is probably why it's possible to raft the rapids downstream from Salida.

DIL just left after taking me to a "maintenance" doctor's appointment and a Fridge Fallout lunch/visit.  Now going to finish preparations for a friend to spend the night before leaving for her move to Alabama.

"Huff, Puff"....... :o

Hello Everyfriend!  Today was a "medium busy" day at work.  I at least had time to blow my nose and drink water. I was pretty tire when I got home but not exhausted!

My neighbor came over this morning to see what it was that I wanted rototilled and decided that he could do it for me.  In fact, he started right in and by the time I got home from work, it as all done and he an his tools were gone!  What nice neighbors I have!  I need to do something for him but he won't take any pay for the job so I have to think!

The doggies are getting antsy and, as a matter of fact, I'm a little hungry myself.  Maybe I feed them a little early and myself too.  Hope your day is going well!

Bubble, I do so enjoy your explainations of "your" land and traditions. Such a shame the whole world is not as happy to take care of their part. Nice way to show love, to plant trees (and be sure the money really goes where intended). Seems like everyone living there takes pride in the land and the people.

We are so privileged that each person in here shares their lives with the rest of us, to learn "how to", or what works and what doesn't.  We all have such different lives and yet so similar.

Well!!!! Time for me to get off the computer & pay attention to the weather. We had at least 2" of rain in maybe half an hour, the pool is running over & rain gauge about half full (can't read it from here). I emptied it last evening so this is all today's water. Twice the power has gone out (love resetting all those clocks) & phones went out but power back on & think the phones are. I need more sleep!  ::)  Mother Nature is working over time today!  Callie.... gulp-gulp!

LARRY, thanks for checking in...you too, GloriaDe

Posting late tonight.....

We had sunshine today and it was wonderful❣️

JANE, I thought about your family arriving today and smiled as I knew they were going to be happy to arrive in the Mile High City.  The weather is to be nice tomorrow for the wedding and will continue to be on Memorial Day, however some storms will be moving in Monday late afternoon.  I hope it will not be too bad of a storm for your family to have to deal with💞 so happy to read that your neighbor got your area roto tilled for you.  That will be so helpful for your daughter to be able to get started in your yard.

Did anyone happen to watch the Farrah Fawcett special on TV last night?  I recorded it and watched it tonight.  My sister-in-law went to school with her in Corpus Cristy TX. Just a side light.  Sadly, her story is a bit too close to our Michele's situation and I have to admit it left me feeling very sad, but it sure gave a good insight into what a cancer patient goes through.

Today was the last day of school for our grands.....not sure what all will have to be done, but you all know we WILL be there to do what ever is needed to keep our kiddos busy and let their mamma rest.

SHIRLEY, I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your path to the river, yard and pool.  I have to admit I do miss not having my own pool in my yard, but I do not miss the expense and the work required when you do have one.

AMY, that is a mighty nice looking BIG stack of wood!  I wish we could all pop in and help you stack it neatly🤣🤣 I loved the picture of Babe and Jesse......I had no idea they look alike.....

BUBBLE, also enjoyed the pictures of your family.  Your Grandson, Avivi is really getting big.

CALLIE, we have been keeping a close eye on your state with the concerning weather conditions and for the rest also in the path.  Glad you are keeping safe so far🙏  I know it is hard for many to believe that the Arkansas Rive is  merely a small creek here in the mountains where it begins🙀

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

Good morning everyone..

We may get rain and a storm today. Just hope we can finish doing the wood. We piled 2 1/2 cords yesterday and took a break from it around noon. I did take my vehicle in but they phoned and said the wrong part came in. The owner came to collect me and said to bring it back on Mon and they will finish the work on it.  While out I picked up more canning jars ,Jane tis that time of year . Will do some strawberry rhubarb jam down.

Today is finish the wood and laundry but we shall see what the weather says first.

Bubble, mercy that is hot.....hope you have a/c or a nice big fan!! I dislike hearing about forest fires as so much is destroyed and lost forever.  Glad to read you are in a safe area.

Jenny, thank you tis less than half the pile now and today should see it neatly stacked up waiting for this winter.  I hope it waits a long time :)

Jane, did you get all your planting done? Lots of work but fantastic results in the end.

Roley, you have a lot of work ahead of you. Moving  is not fun, gathering and packing things up but a new home is exciting. New home , new friends and much easier for both of you to maintain.

Larry, hope today is a much better day for you. You are wise to rest when you can, much better on your body.

Joy, we have a wee fire on in the morning just to take the chill away.

Phyliss,I am not looking forward to the 90 ° + weather, on those days I hope I can stay inside in the cool house.

Better get going ,laundry won't start on its own :(

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's not raining yet today but it's supposed to start later in the day.  I sure wish I could save some of for midsummer when we really NEED it!

AMY, the planting won't be done until Christy can come up from Maryland again  She's bringing some things from a friend who has too much in her yard and then we'll go buy some "fill-ins" together.  It's nice to have the gardening help but the real gift in all this and what I'm truly enjoying is the company of my daughter!

So far this morning, I've fed the dogs, had breakfast and started the dishwasher.  I'm thinking about a couple of other things to do but not sure which way that will go.  Day before yesterday, I did a lot of laundry and took the last load out at 8:30 p.m.  It landed on the bed in the spare room and when I started to put it away the next morning, I ended up changing summer shirts and pants or winter ones.  That took some time but I decided that I DO NOT NEED ANY MORE TEE SHIRTS for the rest of my life.

I'm thinking this might be a good day to get the weed whacking done before the rain comes.  It's beautiful and sunshiny right now.  I wish you all some sunshine in your lives.  Have a lovely day!

Good morning everyone. I am batching for last night and most of the day Nancy went with Louisa down to there place down by Wheatland. I have spent the last short while reading yesterdays post. as usual already lost most ,my short term memory. But JaneS I think a good friendly neighborly Hug would be in place for the good neighbor's good gesture. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone, supposed to be a good week end here, hope it is rain free for a change. Rain in the forecast for overnight tonight, hope that will be it. Have a new burglar in Providence. Robbing gas stations wearing first a Mickey mouse mask and now a bunny mask. One man was shot but is OK. What next will happen these days. Sad world we live in.

PHYLLIS  my son will be installing my AC later today. Then let the humidity come back and I will have it running. So far even with all the rain it has been cool enough to have the heat on for a short time to get the dampness out. Surprised the heat has not been  shut off for the summer yet.

JANE  my older son was busy this week till his garden  to plant. His family just got home after almost 3 week away on a trip to Hawaii. Even my little great grandson was on that trip.

JOY  would be a wonder if we do get a good weekend for a change. When I was waiting for an apartment here I was hoping for one in the back facing north and into the woods instead I am in the front facing the parking lot. and the sun at it's  hottest part of the days and on the top floor. At lest no noise over my ceiling. Heard we are to be close to 90 on Monday.

BUBBLE  bad enough when Mother Nature starts a fire but incendiary balloons are horrible. Takes a sadist to send those  over and ruining crops and perhaps people and their homes. It has been awhile since we had temperatures that hit 100° and over.

PETER  so good to see your post this morning, you have been missed. An apartment will be a lot easier than the upkeep of your own home although it will be a big difference. I wish you the best.

LARRY  thanks for checking in.

JANE  wish I could have my daughter's company as much as you enjoy yours.

Time to go get my breakfast, Have a good day.

Good morning.  It is a pretty sunny morning with just a little breeze.

Gloria,  When I moved here, I wanted an apartment that was on the sunny side.  In my condo, I had sun almost all day, and I had said that was what I wanted when I moved.  As it turned out, I am on the north side, facing a lot of huge pine trees and don't get hardly any sun at all.  Just the opposite from you.  And, I, too, am on the 4th floor, which is the top floor. The ones who live up here call it the "penthouse".   And, the bottom floor is the "dungeon".  I would not want to be down there. It is actually the first floor of the building, but I would not want to be done there.  There is an entrance down there to the front of the building, but the main entrance is in the back of the building where you enter onto the second floor.  This building used to be the old elementary school.  It had sat empty for a long time and was slowly deteriorating when the town decided to convert it to Senior Apartments. I think there are about 85 apartments.  The did put an addition in the back of the building and I am in the new part.  The older part still has the wooden floors and  what was the gym is our recreation room, and the principal's office is our library.  There are still several other original parts of the building that they use.  They did a good job in the renovations.

Jane, I am glad that you were able to get your garden tilled.  That will save a lot of time when you daughter comes up to help you get it all finished. There is a small garden here where I live, and several residents really enjoy working in it. It has been so rainy, that they have had to wait to get more things planted.  It is mainly a flower garden.  There used to be a man who did put in some vegetables, and he loved working in it.  He  has since past away, and it took a while before a couple of the ladies have taken it over.

Jenny, I was reading your late message about 3 a.m. this morning.  I couldn't get back to sleep, so I was on the computer for a while. Then went back to bed.  I hope you and your family will be able to enjoy the summer along with helping out with the grandchildren and giving Michele some help.  I know you will do everything that you can. I continue to remember her in my prayers.

Larry, I hope today will be a better day for you.  And, I know you will  look forward to being able to attend your church sometime soon.  I certainly admire you for your way of handling all your health problems.  Having such a good attitude is such a great help.

I need to get on with my day. Not sure what is in store, but hopefully, I will get some time out in the sunshine.

Have a great Saturday.

Joy

Well the weather put a stop to our work. Almost got the wood all piled but rain came and put an end to it for now.
The trees are leafing out  more now, so many shades of green with a bit of red thrown in .

Hi Everyone.  According to our local weatherman last evening we are in for 5 days in a row with temperatures of 100 degrees or higher.  This has never happened here in May since record keeping started.  Thank goodness for a fine A/C system as the house stays cool and in fact in the room where I have the hospital bed it is too cold and am going to have to either have the vent turned for shut off.

Yesterday was a very frustrating day for me as my mind was suffering confusion to the extent I had to give up on a project that should have taken 5 minutes as had done it before easily but yesterday spent at least 90 minutes trying to get it done and finally gave up in frustration.  I did get my first two weeks of medicine as ordered by the Hospice nurse and started on it this morning.  I called and asked for someone to come and fix my medicine boxes as didn't trust myself and this is one of the many services that are a part of Hospice.  The nurse was here within a couple of hours and fixed the boxes and again explained what each medicine was for as well as she had typed up a sheet showing what I will be taking morning, noon and at bedtime. She also said that for at least a couple of weeks the lady assigned to be my aid plus a nurse will be here on Tuesdays and I think she said Thursday and then if things are going OK the aid will probably come just once a week.  When I asked about reordering the medicines as it is sent in two week increments she said that is taken care of by them and I didn't have to do anything about that.  Things in my life are changing very quickly and right now I am seeing a decline in my health on a daily basis.

I realize that there may be some days ahead when I won't even feel like "just checking in".  Please don't get alarmed about that.  I plan on sending several of you my wife's telephone number so that there is a way to contact my family.  Since Wednesday morning this week it has really been hectic around here but that should soon settle down and I was so confused yesterday (probably related to the sodium) as well as being so short of breath that I wasn't able to get here earlier that I did.  The congestive heart situation is one of continuing decline as are many illnesses.  If you don't see a posting from me for a few days please call my wife. You may need to leave a message as we generally won't answer numbers we don't have in our telephone contacts or local numbers as the robo calls are an everyday event.  Be sure to leave a message.  There will be no obituary since all of our local friends are in our Church family and would know when my journal is complete.  I have written instructions or suggestions for Pat and Scott to come to these boards and let you all know when I am no longer able to be active.  As long as my mind stays clear I plan on being here daily as although and have multiple ways of writing.

Scott just left after doing several small jobs but helpful ones.  We have decided to mount the TV in my office to the wall as the dresser isn't wide enough to safely put it on it plus it will free up the dresser top.  He took off the door to the bedroom I am in as wouldn't be using it anyway as the way the house is built it is very private and that will make it easier to get through it.  Unfortunately the bedroom is one of the few places in this house they put in carpeting and the wheel chair doesn't work very easily on it.  I now have my walker in their and will leave the wheel chair outside as only a couple of steps to the bed and probably not more than ten steps to the bathroom.  So things are coming along nicely.  Well my timer has gone off for my noon medicines and eating a few crackers before the medicine so I hopefully will not get nauseous and then I will try to lay down for a little while if I can deal with the shortness of breath.  Be back tomorrow.  My confusion seems to be gone for today, thank goodness and I have several projects I need to do here at my desk if I feel up to it later this afternoon.  Thank you all for your kind comments.

Gloria de.... I talked to a friend my age while ago & asked if we should think about building an ark. We just had another severe T-storm go through Wichita & thought it was all over until my phone started screeching at me about a flash flood warning for this area. Anyone that couldn't guess that has got to be an idiot.  :crazy2:

Larry, I am hoping that when your body adjusts to the different meds you will feel more like having the ladies work with you to build up your muscles so you can get out & enjoy the days more. I have no doubt you will do all you can for as long as you can, you are a wise person. Prayers for you, Pat & Scott and special prayers for the Hospice people that help you.

Joy, I enjoy hearing about your living arrangements, you seem to have found a good place to be. Interesting to read about you, Gloria, Sandy, & how I envy y'all not having to do maintenance ....  now & then one of you will mention something you like or don't like & I hope I will remember when I'm ready to make that big change. I live in a neighborhood that most of the people that were here when we moved in 31 years ago, have moved into retirement villages or have died, so do not have a lot of contact with the younger families that moved in since. All are friendly & stop to say a few words if they are walking a dog & I am out in the yard, but this place is where my friends are that I have coffee with. Amy, Jane & Jenny keep me exhausted with all they do, so I'm starting to think it may be time to slow down. Maybe next year.

And now it is time for the news, will check the weather & go to bed. When I wake up in the morning I can't go back to sleep 'cause I need to feed cats & get ready for church. Guess what, more rain predicted for tomorrow afternoon!

Good morning everyone.

We have SUN! Rained yesterday evening and there must have been a storm in the distance as Babe was edgy.

All the wood is done. :nanadance: .In between rain drops Kyle finished it off while I was doing laundry. Now I can move on to the garden and get it done.

Gloria de, if you were closer you would have some jam too!!

Gloria, a day for sun glasses here but I sure wish the humidity would go away..

Larry, I admire what you are doing and to be honest we all should. Each day is a blessing so enjoy it to the fullest. I am praying these new meds for you will make you feel better. Don't give up or in as you know miracles do happen.

Shirley, I emailed Jack a photo of the dogs and he answered me back on May 23rd. This is double posted as I posted in Normans B & T also.

Joy, that sounds like a really nice place to live. Enjoy your penthouse  :)

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning!  Larry and I share the same kind of weather only he gets it a little before I do.  And, yes, it is going to be HOT!  Much too early in the season to get this extreme weather.  Normally we would have this in July and August.  I think it is going to be a very trying summer.  I just hope that the severe weather (tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding) go away and stay away for all of us all over the country.

Amy, it's all your fault!     You like your instant pot so much that you tempted me to order one.  It should be here today.  I stood in my kitchen and tried to think about what pot, pan, appliance, etc. I don't use anymore and just takes up space. I looked at the lower cupboard and saw my old top of the stove pressure cooker and thought that if I'm getting a new electric pressure cooker I don't need the old one taking up space so I asked David to take it to the basement storage and there was a big empty space just waiting for the new one!  I may be asking your advice in future. Already I'm planning to adapt my Chicken Caprese recipe to it.  We'll see if all goes well.

Larry, you are an inspiration to me.  The way you are handling all the changes is something I admire so much.  I understand about your mental confusion.  I call it "brain fog" and every now and then I have it, too.  Not much you can do about it except just get through it and hope the next day that the thinking will be a little clearer.  You are often in my thoughts.

Stay dry, stay cool, stay well, and stay safe, Everyfriend!

Good morning everyone, latest I have slept in a couple of weeks. Feel well rested this morning. Supposed to get into the upper 80's today and humid. My son put my AC in yesterday so am ready for the heat.
If anyone likes western movies, especially with John Wayne on GRIT they have his movies on all day. Bet LLOYD will enjoy that.

JOY  this is a brand new building. Where it sits used to be nothing but trees. It is now 14 years  since it opened.  53 apartments, library. laundry, community, game room. The lobby looks like you are in a small hotel with leather furniture and tables. Main entrance is in front and the grounds are landscaped and have flowers and it really beautiful. They have a spot in the back for anyone who wants to plant a few tomatoes and such, even clothes lines for those who can hang clothes out. This floor is called the penthouse or the high rent district. At least no noise over my head and that I like.

AMY  I love when everything starts showing colors in the spring, so many different shades of green and the early flowers. Beautiful.

LARRY  thank you for your long post of yesterday. Prayers are with you.

SHIRLEY  we have a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Since I am not going anywhere let it rain, again.

LLOYD  if you ge Grit on your TV turn it on. You will enjoy John Wayne movies all day.

Have a good day.

Gloria, glad you mentioned GRIT, my fav TV......I will turn it on as soon as I get off here. Had not thought about wanting the "penthouse" apartment but can see the reasoning. I recall visiting friends in apartments & the sound of the neighbors TVs would drive me nuts. I have a neighbor that has teen aged kids that play loud music (really, that is MUSiC?} but I can close my doors & not have to hear it. That is probably my worst fear of apartment living.

Phyllis, I still use my pressure cooker for fixing beans & ham shanks.... got a "new" one about 10 years ago that is a little smaller than the old Presto one of 60 years ago. This one is stainless steel... so I am still holding out on the InstaPot... I have a very old Presto pressure cooker that is small & electric, wonder if it was the pre-instapot. I drag it out to fix candied carrots or when I want fresh steamed potatoes to mash. I have a couple people that insist they can tell the difference in real mashed potatoes & the instant ones. I am satisfied with instant ones but use half milk & half water (instead of just water like some say). I only cook to take food to son's or gr-kids houses, quit hosting the gang. I can't clean house AND cook!

I am a little off balance this morning as well, I blame it on the changing barometric pressure (haha, probably has nothing to do with it but sounds okay to me). My sleep was so broken up last night with cats wanting in or out or me waking up worrying about which ones were in & who out.... a nap sounds good to me, with John Wayne in the background. Why not........I hear thunder rumbling in the distance, dark out. Glad I'm home.

Good Morning,

You may have seen - or will see - news stories about the devastating damage a "pop-up" (or should that be "pop-down") tornado caused in El Reno, Oklahoma last night.  Even the t.v. station with the finest radar (and whose reporter was parked right across the street from the motel when it hit) wasn't aware that anything would happen.

Another one popped down and moved across the central part of OKC - very close to the state capitol.  Quite a bit of damage with that one, also

We seem to be having more of these sudden funnels and that's very scary!!!

Shirley, Miss Emily was in El Dorado KS on her way home on Friday night when the twister hit southeast of Wichita. She ended up stopping in Blackwell OK and staying the rest of the night.  She said the hotel was on a generator because of power outages.

A friend spent the night Friday night because movers had picked up her belongings during the day, she closed on her house sale late that afternoon - and was leaving to drive to her new home in Auburn AL very early Saturday morning.
I told her the only "rule" was that she couldn't sneak out before I had told her good-bye.
That meant me getting up at 5:30 a.m.  and, of course, I couldn't go back to sleep after she left.

So - with that and the storm-watching last night,  I didn't open my eyes until 9:30 this morning.

Too late to get to church.  The Presbyterian service I like to watch on t.v. is just starting.

Please pray for those all over this state who are being affected by the severe storms and, most of all, the terrible flooding.  All 77 counties truly are Disaster Areas.

Hi Everyone.  It is on the way to another 100 degree day with even hotter heat index as yesterday the heat index was 105.

Note:  this is updated from what I wrote this morning in Norm's B& T.  For some reason I only slept for three hours or so last night although there was no reason but it gave me time to think more.  I also rediscovered in my bedroom closet a pillow Pat had rolled up and tied with cloth selvages (think that is what they are called and they are very strong).  It works great to put on my left side to keep the pressure off the tailbone as well as remind me not to turn on my left side.  I went all night without any pain from the tailbone and actually didn't have much shortness of breath.  I did have three instances where I had angina in my shoulder so a quick nitro while sitting up and in a few minutes it went away.   I was able to get an early start in reading the discussion postings for yesterday.  I am not at all rushed today but find myself pretty tired this afternoon even after resting.  Getting dressed is becoming harder each day and I will ask the aid when she comes on Tuesday if she can wash my hair and give me a bath down to possible and up to possible and I will take care of possible as that doesn't require raising my arms.  I think this would be in her job description.  I seem to be getting weaker day by day. laid down this morning and was going to listen to last weeks Church service on the Internet using my iPhone. However the recording was messed up and the Life Line service, which is just Scripture and the sermon was from the Mother's Day service that I listened to that last week.  I have plenty of small projects I want to do with most something I will do here at my computer.  There is a dresser in my new bedroom and Pat cleaned out the two top drawers and then we transfered  most of my clothes from the master bedroom to those drawers we will finish getting the hangup clothes from the master closet that I can see I will be using probably tomorrow.  I did transfer my bathroom things yesterday for the bathroom I will now use.  So things are coming along nicely a little at a time to the way I want them. I just talked to Scott and he plans on coming out in the morning to move the TV and get the oxygen line fixed so I will again have oxygen at my easy chair.  I was able to add a canula  line to what had been attached to the CPAP machine so I have oxygen at my bed to use when laying down.

I just placed an order with Amazon for a new robe, bath wrap, bathroom scale, some additional iPhone charging cables and tags of different colors to easily identify each cable.

Last night I made the decision that now is the time to get rid of my piano and all of the sheet and book music I have accumulated over the years.  Scott will have first refusal and if he doesn't want the piano or music I am going to write to our wonderful choir director who teaches a lot of students and offer her the music as a gift.  I will also invite her to come and see the piano as she may know of new students who would be interested in looking at it.  It is a Mason Hamlan piano which I was shocked sometime ago when I researched to find it ranks right under Steinway in quality and desirability and the finish is still very nice and pretty.

I don't have the energy this afternoon to write many individual comments so will try to be brief and then retire to my easy chair to watch the golf match and rest.

Lindancer, I made the decision yesterday to try to eat some solid food at lunch and evening meal before taking the medicines and to stay with the nutrition bar and Nutritional and some cranberry juice for my breakfast as I can get that together easier and it is something I have done for several years.  I hope the crackers helped you as I know that often works for both Pat and I but eating some solid food before taking the pills and using the Morphine at noon avoided any nausea today.

Amy, the one thing I will never do is give up although my decline needs to slow down a bit and perhaps will after the medicine for a week or two and getting things all arranged in my new bedroom and bath, which is almost done now.

Gloria, thanks for your prayers as well as others who remember to include me in their prayers.  I try to remember many of our folks here with serious health issues or family health issues.

Callie and Shirley, to nights news is showing such devastation from flood and tornadoes. Prays that you all stay safe.
I take a  1% morphine when I go to bed I also have some kind of a relaxer I can take if needed.
Larry, to day I have been short of breath. they also brought me a nebulizer. My panic button is now hooked up to them. They have a beautiful facility on the water in Westhampton Bch.
Right now I am having a Cup of soap, so far I can still keep it down. Just one package is enough for me.  As I wrote before my aide comes for 2 hours 3 times a week, gives me a shower, will make my lunch and wash my cloths and put them in the dryer. makes my bed,  By the way the gave me a table like you have in the hospital, you can put it over the bed, also raise and lower it.  would be great use with a computer So far I am content  with my decision i made over a month ago.

That is absolutely beautiful, MYCHEAL, and every word of it is true! You express your thoughts so well!

I'm off to Dreamland!  It's been a busy day and I'm ready to relax.  My grandniece is here watching my daughter's house and dog while they are in Colorado.  She went to church with me this morning and we stayed for coffee break after church.  She made quite an impression with my friends.  She just finished her first year of college.  We've been buddies since she invited herself along with her older sister for a visit.  She was five.  And when she asked me why Bridget could go to Aunt Janie's and she couldn't, I said "If your mother says it's OK, you can come, too.  She RAN in the kitchen asking all the way if she could go.  Before my niece got a chance to say "no", Bridget and I were right behind her saying "yes".  After that, they both spent the better part of two weeks every summer with "AJ".  Now she's doggie sitting.

Now I AM off to bed.  I wish you all a peaceful sleep, a happy tomorrow and no storms.

PS to CALLIE!  You forgot to tell me one of those tornados touched down in Jenks.  It missed my granddaughter's family but it damaged the roof of the house my daughter and SIL own and are renting out until they decide to retire there.

Janie, how awful!  Local stations emphasis is on El Reno and Ive only heard one mention of a tornado in Tulsa but nothing about it being in Jenks or about damage.
Hope they're not being affected by floods, too.

Weather on now. Sounds as if tomorrow will be nice. We need a break!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Nine minutes left until the boinger and then the doggies and I will have breakfast.  Annie is getting a little antsy right now.

CALLIE, I haven't heard what happened elsewhere but my family is safe.  A roof can be repaired and I'm sure they are insured.  My daughter who is in Dallas had a few anxious minutes when she couldn't reach Ali but they connected as soon as they could.  Ali lost a few shingles but the rest of the house was OK.

I'll try to come back later and see what Everyfriend is up to today.  I wish you all safe, dry, cool and happy!

Good morning everyone..
Looking to be a lovely day here, I think for the rest of the week it is rain rain and more rain. Hope that changes so I can get the garden in.
Taking the van in for get the a/c fixed ,they will bring me home and I can work cutting out all the wild raspberry canes that have started to hug the garden. I did mange to wash the van yesterday ,now how long it will stay clean is another mystery.
For those in tornado areas, I am amazed at how you accept them. Or should I say tolerate them. They certainly show no mercy when they travel and touch down.

I had better get a move on here ,my git up and go has got up and left me lately.....sure hope it finds its way back.

Enjoy your day everyone.

It is thundering & flashes of lightning, rain hasn't started. All 3 cats had their breakfast & went outside, Tiger came back in but Tom & Callie are missing. They have a special hidey hole when it rains, I've whistled several times but they don't want to come in. Tiger & Callie don't seem to be afraid of storms but Tom is usually under my feed before I can even hear it coming. They are free to do what they want so I quit worrying, still watch to see if they want in.

Memorial Day and I didn't take flowers to my grandbaby that died shortly after she was born, or to Cas. The lines of cars are so long I learned years ago to take flowers before the holiday.

When I was young my Mom & Dad would take arm loads of peonies to the graves of their parents and a big Dutch oven filled with fried chicken, couple of pies and we would join the picnic in Bonnots Mill, where my grandmother still lived. The picnic ground was just down the road from Grandma's house, in what was the parking lot of the old mill. The whole town joined in, long tables set up under the shade trees. I had a lot of cousins on Mom's side but only 5 on Dad's. Mom's brothers & one sister lived on farms near by so plenty of cousins to play with. The girls my age as well as my sister & girls her age didn't "play", they helped with the food or went off to whisper & giggle about boys, so I became a people watcher. The boys played marbles. From the time I was 6 to 10 WWII was going on so people, even kids, were more subdued.

Ever since the end of WWII my memory goes to "the boys" in the Air Corp, Navy & Marines, I didn't know anyone regular Army during the war. At our age we all have lots of family in Heaven to remember, it is a day for thinking of them. "May their souls rest in Peace."

Hi Everyone.  We are in for our 100 degree or above heat day, the third in a row.  Going to be a hot one for picnics and there is a Greenjackets baseball game this afternoon in our new semi-pro ball park downtown.  Not going to be a nice day to set in the stands or play on the field.  I got up at 5:30 this morning, after a pretty good nights sleep last night with the help of near exhaustion when I went to bed and a sleeping pill.  I have a number of things on the schedule today and find I probably must get them done in the mornings as seem to really be tired in the afternoon.  I spent all morning yesterday writing on these message boards and know I must be less wordy and take less time, at least for a couple of days until things slow down. Scott is planning on getting the bracket to put the TV on the wall of my bedroom that is now on the just sitting on the piano, fix the oxygen hose so I can have it working at my easy chair (I was able to get it fixed so I had it in bed and we took the CPAP machine out of the mix and just going with the oxygen.  I have a number of other small things for him if he has time.  After about 4 days he said yesterday his migraine had finally gone away.

Will make only limited comments today.

Jane, good and will count you as one with the list for contacts.  I think I will just have four or five as hope Pat or Scott will have called someone or posted here when I am gone and no calls will be needed.  However, never hurts to build in a little redundancy into such plans.

Lindancer, I am going to keep a simple of list of things to ask nurse and/or aid when they visit tomorrow and in the future.  I do this as I think of it.  Maybe keeping a little pad of paper handy to jot down your observations or questions would help you remember to ask or even to call with your questions or concerns. It is taking so much energy, like this morning to get dressed and cleaned up I think I will probably just stay in my new robe I have coming this week as the angina and shortness of breath I want to avoid as much as possible.  I am also taking the 1 % morphine with my lunch meds.  Yesterday was the 2nd day.  I have one of those bedside tables but also put one of my little tables from my office on the right side which is better for me to lay my things out on as reaching to the left seems to crowd my heart so am using it now for recharging my electronics and sitting them on it when not in use and another couple of large things.  I have decided to put in a lamp in the corner with a small bulb to stay on.  I thought I could get by with a bright flashlight turned on when I needed more light but think the other is better and I have a little table and a small lamp in the attic that will do the job.

Amy, I am sure one of the medicine changes that Hospice made was to remove the drug (drugs) that was keeping the angina at bay.  Maybe that was on purpose so I would learn my limits and do less so I didn't bring on the pain and shortness of breath.  Will be discussing with them tomorrow when I get the first nurse/aid visit.

Shirley, only one day of brain fog so far and that is enough as far as I am concerned.  This is something that Pat has to deal with when her Fibromyalgia is flaring up.

Mycheal, Amen to your comments yesterday about our country.  Why are so many people people struggling to get into America if it is as bad as our politicians when to present to us.  If this is talking politics here then I really don't care.  I do try to stay away from it in these discussions but on this Memorial Day I hope I can be allowed one breach of the rules without making anyone mad.  It is just my thinking and not trying to force my thoughts on anyone else here.

It seems we are all dealing with bad weather of some sort.  I hope everyone stays OK and gets through it safely.

Memorial day is just another day for me.  I will do some laundry and maybe I will feel like exploring the new Instant Pot today.  Sort of ran out of steam yesterday so after I found a place to put it and washed up the things that came with it I didn't feel like doing anything so fixed canned soup for dinner and spent the rest of the day in the recliner.  I feel better today so will probably see if that new thing works and I don't manage to mess anything up.  ::)

Shirley, it bothers me sometimes that my parent's and grand parent's graves in Ottawa go undecorated but there is no family there anymore to tend to it so I just remember them in my heart.  I have Tom's ashes here with me and I remember him every day.  Eventually our sons will co-mingle our ashes and take them to the mountains that we both loved.

Larry, I gave away my piano and all the music when I had plans to turn that downstairs room into a bedroom for caring for Tom.  He never came home.  I still miss the piano but had trouble seeing the music and stiff fingers don't work well on the keys so it is just as well it is gone.  But, I still miss it.

Bye for now....Take care.

Good morning everyone, beautiful day yesterday and should be again today. Nice and warm but not hot. By mid week will be 80°according to the weather guesser.

SHIRLEY  did you get to watch John Wayne movies yesterday? I finally shut off Big Jake and went to bed last night. I enjoyed all of them except How The West Was Won. That was on not too long ago and he only had a short spot in that one. It was his birthday yesterday, nice way to celebrate his life. Most here are in bed early and are not loud.

CALLIE  wit h all those tornadoes out there I pray you stay safe, your family and friends, too. The biggest thing we have to worry about here is hurricanes and we have time to prepare for them. It is seldom we get a tornado here.

LARRY  what you are going through sounds like what my youngest brother-10 years older than me-went through. In his last years we talked more on the phone than we ever did before. At times I could hear his shortness of breath but he fought till the end. You will continue in my prayers.

LLOYD  you missed some good John Wayne movies yesterday on Grit.

GLORIA de  we had sun all day yesterday. Along the south coast they said it was overcast but not in this area. The weather this weekend is like I remember Memorial day being, warm and sunny, great day for parades today.

MYCHAEL beautifully expressed.

PHYLLIS  like you Memorial day is just another day for me. Nothing going on here as usual.

Have a good day.

A blessed MEMORIAL DAY to all.  For some reason I do not like to say "HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY", as it is not a happy day to me😢😢

No big plans for the day.....the weather is sketchy at best....not much sunshine and lots of storm warnings out for the day.  Normally we would take flowers to the loved ones graves, but think we will wait until later when the weather improves.

We did have a nice meal with Dave and Family yesterday afternoon.  It was a pretty day until it was time for us to go to their home and then the clouds rolled in and we had some lightening and thunder with a few drops of rain here and there.  The table was set to eat outdoors, but the lightening made us change our minds🙀🙀. We did go out later and the kiddos had S'mores at their fire pit.  Michel was doing the best she has in quite a long time.  She started on a regiment of steroids to help clear up the terrible acne rash she has on her face and in her hair.  As we all know steroids make us feel better and it was good to see her acting more normal being with the family🥰🥰 She did not have chemo today due to the holiday so she has a bit of a catch up time before the one next week ON HER BIRTHDAY 😢😢. Tomorrow is their 25th wedding anniversary......sadly there is no planned celebration like I am sure we would have had under a normal situation. 😢.

We are going to pick Matthew up tomorrow and take home to the Boy Scouts Headquarters to get a paper signed, one of the very last things that needs to be done before he can get his Eagle Scout.  He has been qualified since the first of the year, but with all that has been going on he has not been able to get to where he needs to get the signatures....but SOON we all will celebrate his accomplishments🥰. After we are done we will stop and get a bouquet of flowers and a card from the kiddos for them to give to their Mom and Dad.

I wish you all a good day......the storms are very threating out there, so I hope you all are safe from anything coming your way!

Jenny

Jenny, I'm with you about the Memorial Day holiday.  I wonder if it had continued to be Decoration Day if it would have retained some of its solemness.  We had a few fire cracker shots but not as many as at July 4th/Independence Day.

I am watching the Weather Channel to see how the storms move.  Storms are near Chicago now but when they hit Lake Michigan often die out - or at least die down.  We may get a storm but it will come from an area south of Chicago and go south of the lake.

I'm glad to hear that Michele had such a good day.  Would that it would continue.  Best wishes for their 25th anniversary.  You waited so long for grandchildren and here your oldest is ready to be an Eagle Scout.

Good afternoon, still Shirley  Decoration Day to me. when I was little, I always went with my grandmother to the cemetery to decorate the grave.  I remember she had a radiator cap with a holder for 4 flags on it so the car was also decorated'

Larry, Maybe a few shots of oxygen would help your sons headache!? I have a night light in my bathroom and one in my bedroom. It took me 10 min to pull my alCKA ON ON. i THINK i GET WEAKER EVERY DAY

Day is done, gone the sun......... Gloria de, I didn't even put out my flag today because it was so windy it would have pulled it out of the holder mounted in the brick by the front door. Some times it wraps around itself & I will go out all day to unwind it. Wind was ferocious today, but should help dry things a little. NO rain today!

Gloria, I did watch John Wayne all day & thought about you watching the same. I also did not watch "How the West Was Won" for the same reason. One of the shows I actually had never seen before & missed the credits so don't know the name. After watching so many westerns lately, I don't even remember who all was in it, but at the time I was going to remember to ask you the name. Duh.........

Jenny, glad the kids got to celebrate their 25th with Michele feeling some better & sorry she gets hit hard on her birthday next week. Wicked stuff & hope it is doing all it should. When Andy's Evan was set for the Eagle Scout awards his sash with all of his badges turned up missing. I think they said it had been in his locker but never found it again. He wasn't going to go through the ceremony but parents & Scout Master, etc. talked him into borrowing one for the moment. In a city this size there were a number of boys receiving the award at the same time. The paperwork had all been completed long before. His service project was impressive (to me). Congratulations to Matthew, Happy Birthday to Michele & Happy Anniversary to both of them. Quite a week full!

Mary Ann, I liked the term Decoration Day better than Memorial.... it seemed more inclusive for the grandparents as well as the service members. My brothers both made it home after WWII so my head still thinks of it more for "family" & not so much military.

Amy, I got to reading the recipes on the links you posted, to see how different my pressure cooker is compared with the Instant Pot......pretty much the same, except the IP is more automated/settings. Talked myself out of needing something new since I have pressure cookers & 2 cast iron Dutch ovens. I'm here doing nothing for the hours it takes to fix pot roast in the oven & sure makes the house smell good. I did enjoy the recipes, though.

Larry (and all of us in here), the scariest part of aging is how much the muscles weaken when we don't feel like working on them/with them every day. As much as I encouraged (nagged?) Cas, I did understand he just did not have the strength in his heart muscle to make himself do more. Now when watching the old Western movies that show Indians putting their elderly out in the cold to die, it still sounds wrong, but I can understand better why they chose to do that. The pain meds available today are a blessing. My oldest brother was given 6 months but lived a year and half... basically pain free, thanks to Hospice. It is a relief to me to know Hospice is able to fill the gap that big families used to take care of. I am not in favor of "socialized medicine" but appreciate having a family called Hospice that can help when needed. Thanks to you and Gloria de for sharing this information and updating us on what is offered.

Dark outside and I didn't walk the cats to the river, bad me!!! Don't know about the rest of you but this short week will have my head messed up every day until we get back to the "normal" 7 days.  Sweet dreams and God Bless Every Friend.

I'm sorry I haven't been in to see what's going on with all of you!  I was busy first at work, then took a short nap fed the doggies, had supper and watched The Green Berets.  I'd sure love to stay up and watch "The Battle of the Bulge".  That was a great movie but it doesn't start until 1 a.m. and it's 3 hours long.  I'd never make it!

I'm off to bed now!  I wish you all peaceful sleep and a happy awakening.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..
Liquid sunshine here this morning..no outside work will be done today..
Managed to get all the raspberry canes cut and bagged. The van is fixed a/c is working! Even managed to get some sewing in too.

Today a lot of catching up to do but first I need to take Kyle out for coffee, he missed going yesterday..

Shirley, I can understand if you already have a pressure cooker. This one is so easy to use and doesn't take up much room, pre-programmed and I don't have to babysit it. You have me humming the song day is done now :)

Jenny Happy Anniversary to your son and daughter in love. The treatment on Michele's birthday is a gift ,it just means one less treatment to go and on the way to recovery.

Gloria, we are to have rain today and tomorrow. Must admit it was nice to be out in the sun yesterday. Unfortunately this wet weather brings more blackflies and mosquitos.

Larry, oh my gosh..that is way too hot!!I did take the cover off of our a/c unit yesterday and want to start it to make sure it works. We have been here 19 years and it was here when we moved in.

Better get going.

Enjoy your day everyone

This is Tuesday (not Monday) This is Tuesday (not Monday) This is Tuesday (not Monday) This is Tuesday (not Monday)

Jane, I don't do any channel surfing yesterday & missed those movies. I agree, both would have been nice to watch again. We are the last to actually have lived through WWII and can remember where we were and what we thought about the news of those days. It had a profound impact on my life, for sure.

This is my favorite temperature.... 71°, enough breeze to hold humidity down, half dark, with birds singing & can hear the traffic starting up around the city.  Later today weather guessers are saying we will probably have severe weather because all the conditions are just right to bring on T-storms & maybe tornadoes. Got a feeling this will be one hot & sticky summer.

Yesterday I drove through the park near my house after running a couple errands, thoroughly enjoyed having to stop to wait on families of geese herding their babies across the roads "to get to the other side". Quite a few families, most of the babies were the gawky/gangly teen aged size, but Mom & Dad had them all under control. The park was crowded with people families having picnics, great bike & walking paths with lots areas with picnic tables & grills, playgrounds & tennis courts. The park joins the zoo grounds so bike/walking paths go all the way around the zoo as well. Miles & miles of paths.

Since my new bike is considered "just a bike" because with battery power it won't go over 20 mph, once I get used to riding, I can enjoy that scenery & be able to ride from my house on the paths. Except for getting off my street to the nearest path that is across the main street near by, I can go over the Arkansas River, over the "Big Ditch" built around the city to save downtown Wichita from flooding and have bike paths to take me all over town, including the parks & zoo. Will have to watch because the battery limit is 45 miles & that is flat land with peddle assist. Got to first get me comfortable riding it.

Cats had their breakfast & sleeping in fav spots. Tiger on a chair by me, Tom went to the basement where it is quiet, and Callie is again, sleeping in their toy box. She has a perfectly good cat bed right next to that box and don't know why she has decided the lumpy toys are to sleep on, but she is snoring. Guess I'd better go fix my breakfast, busy day.. short week and a grandaughter's wedding next week end.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's down in the 50s and rainy this morning.  I'm really tired of the rain but I love how GREEN everything is and I have to enjoy it now because we usually have a pretty dry July and August around here.  I passed several farms on Sunday that already have their irrigation systems in place.

AMY don't forget the pumpkin seeds.  I'm waiting to see how they fare North of the Border.  I'm also waiting to see how they fare in Texas and Oklahoma.  I sent some to daughter Cindy and Granddaughter Ali.

JENY, my good wishes for MICHELE's birthday and for the couple's anniversary.  As AMY said, "One less treatment to go".

I had to go back and read before it will let me post and SHIRLEY was there.  I remembered this morning that I have a copy of The Battle of the Bulge and I'm going to dig it out and watch it tonight.  You're right about the memories.  I learned more about the world during that time than most kids learn from school in more years.  The two teenage boys next door enlisted right out of high school, one in the Navy and one in the Air force.  They didn't come home!  And I, at the ag of 7 had plans to marry the navy guy. He's the one who was nice to the "little girls" next door.

I've lost my train of thought so I'll just wish you all a good day and I'll try to come back later and check out what's happening.

Good morning everyone, we had a beautiful week end on Memorial day. Sunny and a light breeze but not hot. Spent most of the afternoon on the porch with some others,

SHIRLEY  all I remember who were in the casts of the JW movies Sunday was Big Jake Maureen o"Hara and 2 of his sons were in it.

Not up to chatting this morning so I will just wish you all a good day. Stay well and happy.

Amy, thank you for those Instant Pot recipe sites.  I've bookmarked them and plan to enjoy just browsing.  I'm going to try the Spaghetti tonight, I think.  I'm pleased to say that for my "maiden voyage" yesterday I adapted my Chicken Caprese to the Instant Pot and it came out very nearly perfect.  The only complaint I had was that the sauce was a little thinner than I generally like it so the next time I make it I will just do the pressure cooking and then when that is done I will turn on the Saute and leave the lid off and let it cook down just a little.  David had a double helping and said "That is good!" 2 or 3 times so he liked it.  ;)

Shirley, Amy is right....the best part of the Instant Pot is you don't have to baby sit it.  I have two top of the stove pressure cookers and used them a lot over the years but you did have to keep an eye on them to be sure there wasn't too much or too little heat under it and you always had to set a timer and be nearby when it went off.  This one is even better.

I plan to just stay in again today.  This extreme heat is really oppressive.  I hope that we will get a little relief soon but I'm not going to complain.  At least, we are not having the severe storms that are happening in the Central US.

Me, too, on humming "Day is Done".  Remembering so much of past years.  And, I don't like to say "Happy" Memorial Day, either, even though memories of family times together are happy but, also sad because everyone is gone now except me.  I told David that 75 or 80 years ago I would have been.....IN THE POOL!  Our municipal swimming pool always opened on Decoration Day and I would be in as soon as the gates opened.

Enough "talking".....breakfast is calling.  TTYL

Day is done
Gone the sun
From the lake
From the Hill
From the sky
All is well
Safely rest
God is nigh!

I don't need to be reminded of the words.  After 60 odd years as a Girl Scout and singing that at the close of every ceremony and before bedtime and any time from dusk on, I'll never forget it.

I was a Girl Scout drop out after joining for one meeting & lasting only a time or two, Jane. The group my friends belonged to didn't do much of anything but scrap book type projects, Jane, so eventually most of the girls would come to my house for the outdoor type experiences. I think I would have loved your group. Where we used to live was only a couple miles from an enormous cemetery that went all out for Memorial Day. They would sometimes call my son when in high school, to play taps for a military funeral. They would have several trumpets placed at different distances to get the full effect.

Good morning.  It was sunny earlier, but now it is raining.  Supposed to be like that off and on all day.

I did not get in here yesterday. Everytime I started, I got waylaid by something.

Jenny, sounds like you had a nice family day yesterday and happy to hear that Michele had a good day.

I am with you and Phyllis, as to not liking to hear people say "Happy Memorial Day".. For so many people it is not a "Happy" day. I heard someone the other day on TV, say that it is so much better to just say, "Hope you have Meaningful day"..

Gloria, I also sat out a while yesterday.  It was so beautiful.

I did go out for dinner, as it was my middle son's birthday.  It was just me, my son and his wife who went. My other two sons had made other plans.  We all had a nice seafood dinner. and came back to my place for cake.

Jane, I was in the Brownies and the Girl Scouts, but I had completely forgotten about the  Day is Done prayer.  One thing I do remember very well, we had a lot of times when we would sing "Climbing Jacob's Ladder"..   Our leader had a beautiful singing voice and she would sing the alto part of that song. I remember that song so well.

Shirley, I am assuming that when you took your little ride around the park, you were on your new "bike".  Did you hear many comments ?  I am wondering what you did decide about wearing a helmet???  I understand that you can't go very fast  on it.  Just be careful !

I need to get myself dressed as I am expecting the maintenance man to finish working on my A/C.   He had to order a part and I am sure it has come in by now.

Larry, hope today will be a good day for you.

Hello to all the other friends that I missed.  I need to get a move on.

Have a wonderful day.  The sun is shining now, after our brief shower.

Joy

Hi Everyone.  Another very hot day ahead at 100 degrees or more.

My kind neighbor across the street, James, was over yesterday and checked out my sprinkler system and will take over any care needed and set it exactly as his is set as our units are identical.  I offered him the king size bed we took out of the guest bedroom I am using now and he was happy to have it for his fourth bedroom upstairs.  It should well work for an occasional guest.  I am happy to be able to help him and know I can count on him.  It is one less responsibility off of Scott's shoulders.  Scott doesn't want it as while he has a big house with many rooms they are all very small.  The same way with my piano as no room and he has the electric Yamaha Grand piano.  So I have a plan in mind to get rid of it (may have already talked about it here)  I also must get the office chair out of my office as need the room for turning my wheelchair, which I am using at my desk now and just now offered it to James.

This morning I was on the phone canceling all future medical appointments and the monitoring of my pacemaker.  Also taking care of a few other items. Things are coming along nicely. The aid was here about 10 am for just a few minutes to met me and will be my regular assigned aid.  She will be back on Thursday and she will help me with my bath and getting my hair washed.  We are still waiting to hear from or see the nurse that is suppose to be by this afternoon for a short visit.  Things are coming along well on these little details that need to be taken care of.

I felt better last evening than I have in a very long time and my appetite is already returning quickly.  Today ends my first week on Hospice and I couldn't be more pleased.

A good friend from my Sunday School class was killed in a bicycle accident near where we live yesterday morning early by a driver who was blinded by the sun.  At another location another person ran into a stopped police car also do to the sun.  Our Church family is in a state of shock and it really was an emotionally difficult day for me.  Of course I am so weak now, plus being a pretty emotional person already, that I shed a lot of tears yesterday.  I tear up over happy and sad and sometimes things in between.  :)

It is already near 5 pm so will try to be very brief (if possible with individual comments today as should have more time tomorrow).  I did make comments to several of you in Norm's B&T this morning.

Shirley, I don't expect my muscles to increase very much as even in the wheelchair I can take only a few feet at a time using both my arms and legs and have to stop and rest for a minute or two and then repeat the process until I get there.  Learning to live in a wheelchair is certainly a process.  Fortunately while I keep hitting things it is with rubber and doesn't seem to scratch or dent anything.  We are getting the furniture better situated to accommodate my getting around especially between the kitchen island and where my table sits beside my chair. I was scared the doctors were going to suggest I try to go to rehab but guess they realized my heart just isn't strong enough to do that so it wasn't even mentioned.  I am hopeful I will also be able to live for another year and a half under the Hospice care and that I can stay right here at home until my last breath.  It is something I am not going to waste a minute of precious time worrying about as have no control over these matters anyway.  God already knows that moment.  I do want to do all I can do to help Pat and be sure things are as much in order as possible and I have a head start as have most things well documented and now will just make a few more changes that I think I have already mentioned.  My goal now is to be as much of an ambassador for Hospice, based on my experiences on this journey as I can be.

Will I almost kept my posting short and doing this so late maybe won't need to spend a lot of tomorrow morning on these discussions as I often do.  Soon I hope to have a lot of these little details taken care of and will have plenty of time without feeling rushed.  Hope all have a good night.

LARRY, I'm so impressed with your plans and your attitude!  I hope I'll be half as good as you are!

The weather this afternoon was awful!  We had a tornado warning in this county, a MAJOR thunderstorm with buckets of rain and hail the size of cheese balls!  I think it must be about a hundred years since I've seen hail and never this big!

The doggies and I waite it out in the hall.  They thought that was pretty neat that I sat on the floor with them!

Now I have to go find us some supper.

sailors HOrnpipe at the Worlds Fair on Scout Day

Larry,my nurse was here to day, and will be back Friday Tomorrow my aid comes for 2 hours. I can have a volunteer on Thursday to take me out.  I do not think I would make it shopping anymore.I was allowed to keep one doctor, either one of my choosing or theirs.  I took their doctor, I might as well go all the way.  By the way they did bring me a wheel chair, but it is still on the sunporch. If Things really get bad this is where you can go.      Kansas Center For Hospice care

Gloria, I have no idea how many days I have wrong.  I have to think back to Sunday, then come forward day by day to bring myself up to date.  And if we don't go to church, all bets are off; I have a bad time.  Dot says the same thing.  I will say that does not happen often; my mind really is in pretty good condition.

We just had a 20 minute thunderstorm pass over us.  Both dogs are cringing at my feet.  I had them out right before it broke.  I heard the thunder as I was locking the door.  Now I'm off to bed before the thunder comes back and I can't get the doggies out from under the desk.  Good night Everyfriend!  Be safe, be dry, be warm and be in God's hands!

Good morning everyone. a cool 50° and rain again.

PHYLLIS  like you we always went swimming on Memorial day. These days it would have to be hot for me to go swimming.

SHIRLEY  thanks for those links, I saved both of them. We had a flag pole and put the flag up every day. My oldest son played the trombone and at times when we took the flag down at sunset he would play taps. I always loved it when he did.

JOY  yesterday was cloudy and today it is rain so staying inside again. I think everyone here enjoyed the wonderfully warm weekend.

AMY  wonder if my sons planted their gardens over the weekend. Usually Memorial day weekend is planting time in this area.

LARRY  I had 4 family members who had Hospice care and they were very happy with them. I love your outlook of your future. I hope I am half as good as you are when my time comes. You are  in my prayers.

JANE  like you I love the way Larry is going through his life now.

GLORIA de  there is a Hospice hospital in Providence.

MARY ANN  with my CNA out sick Thursday and Friday and the holiday Monday I really was messed up with days for a day or 2.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The dogs have been getting me up very early these days.  They seem to think that if it's daylight out there and shining in the windows, we should be greeting the day.  I can't seem to sell them on the concept of Daylight Saving Time.  They only know what's in their heads.  So, since they have to take a pill and wait an hour for it to digest, we've been sacking out on the sofa for an extra hour.

Today is a WM day so I'll be off to work at 11 and home at 3.  What I don't get done before I go, won't get done because Wedmesdaus are ALWAUS busy and I come home zapped!

I hope everyone escaped the storms.  I haven't heard if tha tornado that brought on the warning, actually made itself known but it sure was scary looking weather.

I wish you all a happy day....no storms...love in your life.

Hi Everyone.  We are in for another very hot 100+ degree day.  There were a lot of fires yesterday along the highways and other places.  A pretty good stretch of I-20 for past the exit we have to the Walmart and other businesses close by was closed all afternoon, evening and is still closed this morning for at least 17 miles here in South Carolina and several other places nearby and some over in Georgia.  The humidity is very low and the temperatures so hot.  It is apparently a real mess.

I didn't sleep at all well last night as had that old heart related cough probably the worst I have ever had it and shortness of breath goes along with it.  I got up at 4 am this morning, not because I wasn't tired but to stop the coughing and that has worked but I still am getting shortness of breath upon much exertion so just have to sit quietly for a few minutes to rest until it gets under control.

I have been working on little things I can do in preparation for this evening when the family will be here to fix my TV up on the wall, fix the oxygen lines and I have decided I want to go ahead and move my computer desk into the corner by my bed.  I was going to wait but can always bring in my laptop from my easy chair and work on another little table that is a part of this desk setup so can still use my office.  I don't know whether any of you use that blue or white rubberized type matting that keeps things from sliding.  I have used it for years and this morning have been fixing my two bedside tables with it as well as the table next to my easy chair.  I know Pat isn't crazy about it but goes along with me as particularly now it really helps.  Just yesterday we knocked off the TV remote, which got under my table by my easy chair.  Fortunately we had pads put on all of the legs of things to save our wooden floors when we moved in and the table and chairs slide pretty easy although neither Pat nor I really should be even pushing them but Pat did and we located it.  I still have a number of very small things to do that I can do sitting here at my computer in the office so will try to take it fairly easy the rest of the day and will try to get some rest or sleep this afternoon before the folks come at supper time. This is our last Wednesday night dinner until fall from the Church so Scott will stop on his way out and pick up the three meals we order as there is a special program after the meal and it would be very late for dinner if the kind lady that has been bringing them did so tonight.  She called and suggested this, which was a great idea, and I knew Scott would be most agreeable to doing that.  We will give the girls money so they can go get whatever they want for their dinner, which they prefer to having to cook something here and Pat is not going to cook when we have our meals for the night being delivered to us.  (I apologize in that I never seem to know when to stop sharing all of this but from what you say you don't mind and no one is required to read any posting here they don't want to.)

Jane, I think attitude is so very important to our quality of life.  I just prefer to be positive and not negative so I don't usually get down and if so it is for a very short time.  That was a scary evening in your area.  Pat's sister called from Independence saying tornados had struck around the Kansas City area and she was heading to the basement of the apartment house where she lives.  Guess all was well from her place or we would have heard by now and Pat may have talked to her after I went to bed.

Lindancer, the aid was here yesterday morning just for a meet.  She offered to help me with a bath but I decided to wait until Thursday when she is back.  I need a bath and have sponge bathed but still don't want to get too close to anyone today.  The nurse was suppose to be here but guess her schedule didn't allow and that would also have been an just an intro visit as I had nothing urgent to discuss with her and could always call the Hospice office if I did.  Like you I elected to use the Hospice doctors and medical staff and yesterday canceled all of my future appointment except found out from the aid that they do not have someone that can clip toenails so will keep that appointment and I still have good insurance.  I am trying to learn to manipulate this wheelchair but think it will take a bit of doing.  I am now spending a lot of time in it but use the Rollator in my bedroom and bath, which is only 8 or so steps from my bedroom.  I have gotten so weak that I must have something to hold on to and I pretty well have it figured out and things should be in place by the end of this evening or tomorrow evening (both Scott and Elizabeth have Wed. & Thursday as their regular days off and are going the work part of things.  Considering I am entering just the second week on Hospice care really a lot has been accomplished and things will soon slow down.  I am not yet ready to get out but now see that as a definite thing to do, perhaps to go out with Scott and Pat to a restaurant or maybe into Walmart although Scott will have to push me in the transport chair.  I am finding it takes a lot of room to get around in the wheelchair but fortunately this house has room to do so except getting through doorways is a real pain.

Mary Ann, I keep a calendar right in front of me at my desk plus the computers always show the date and time.  You do great to be your age and I just so hope you don't fall as that would really mess everything up for you.  Sorry but I will keep nagging because I care about you.

Amy, enjoy your trip to Costco today.  When I am up to getting out a bit I might even be able to get back to Costco using the transport chair or one of the electric karts they have.

Gloria, I can't imagine many were at the pools around here yesterday although they are now open.  It was just too hot to be outside if you didn't need to be.  Glad to see you have had experience with family members in Hospice.  While I have had limited experience with only one week I couldn't be happier and freer than I feel today.  I will always be thankful to my wonderful cardiologist who suggested that now was the time and was she ever right.  I hope you will never need it but it appears you wouldn't be afraid to at least contact them if your doctor ever suggests it to you or you feel now would be the time.  Where is the downside?  I can't see any yet.

Good morning.  Pretty sunny morning here, and supposed to get hot later in the afternoon.

I have a doctor's appointment, but not until 4:30.  Since my daughter-in-law takes me, she makes the appointments when the time is good for her.  So, I don't have to rush getting ready.  They are also predicting possible scattered thunderstorms later, so hope we can make it in between the rain drops.  I will stop and get something to bring home for dinner.

Larry, it is always so good to see your most inspiring messages. I hope that I can become as positive as you are.  I usually pray for strength to get me through a particularly situation.  I am always apprehensive when I have an appointment and usually, it turns out ok.  I had some blood work done last week and am a little apprehensive about the results. I will try to remember to stay positive.

Good morning to you, Amy, and also, Gloria and Jane.  And, of course, all the friends who come in later.

Have a wonderful day !

Larry, I am in awe at your attitude about your situation today.  I am sure while many of us would like to think we'd be so positive, when push comes to shove, we probably would not be.  I told the PA yesterday that I do not have a walker or rollator yet and he asked me how I did walking in the house and I told him "walls and furniture".  This place is small enough that I can touch something almost everywhere.  I do walk freely around here and that is about all I can do.  Tom and Dot both watch me walking to or from their cars to make sure I get from Point A to Point B.  Steps are my big trouble and I rely on the railing by the steps, but it isn't easy.  I appreciate that you, Larry, are concerned about my walking.  Thank you.  I'm amazed that I've made it this far - to 95.

Thank you, Jane.  I hope you're around too!  I have not had an age goal previously, except to reach the next age.  Turning 95 has changed my mind a bit and I just hope I feel as well as I do now so I can reach 100.  A third great-grandfather was three months short of 107 when he died.  I don't care about that age - yet.  My immediate goal is now 96 and take each year as it comes!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYFRIEND 🦋

Another day of threatening storms are in the forecast for today. The moisture is wonderful and so appreciated however, the damaging wind and hail is not!  We have been lucky in that we have not had any of this bad stuff, but many we know have😢.

JANE, I have thought about your family that are visiting here right now, and hoping that their time has not been ruined by the changing weather conditions.  I wish you the best of best customers today at Walmart❣️

I keep hoping we will see a post from you, SHIRLEY.  I do hope and pray that everything is OK at your place!

AMY, enjoy your day of shopping.  Hope the doctor visit will go well for your hubby.

LARRY, what a wonderful post from you today!  You know we like to read ALL that you share with us, so thank you.

GLORIA, sorry your CNA visit is messed up this week.

JOY, the best to you today at your doctor visit.

MARY ANN, I know you are as careful as you can be to stay UP RIGHT!  Sadly, my dad was doing so well, getting around just fine UNTIL he tripped over Diane's walker and down he went, breaking his hip.  We all know that falls are the worse when one gets up in age.  Good news for you, me and others that are short....we do not have that far to fall🥰🥰🤣

No post from you today, LLOYD.  I HOPE all is well with you and Nancy.  Maybe you took off and are 🎼 ON THE ROAD AGAIN 🎼

Enjoy your day.....be safe💐💐
Jenny

I wrote something, then looked at the emojis and away went my message.  It wasn't much, but I agreed with Jenny that short people don't have so far to fall.  I never felt it was an advantage but maybe now it is.  I have taken calcium since I broke my leg in 1983 and while I am not sure it is a benefit, I'm going to continue taking it until a doctor tells me to quit.

No emoji because my trial is what caused me to lose the other post.

I'm home from work and tired up the gazoo!  My feet hurt and my back aches.  And if that's all I ever have to complain about, I'm very grateful

We're having another day of thunder storms with lightning, wind and gallons of rain.  This is the third one today.  They last anywhere from a half hour to an hour plus and just when you think they're over, "they're baaa-ack!  We don't need any more rain.  And I sure wish the heavenly bowling team would break up for good!

JENNY, I talked to the kids and they're having a great time.  For Cathy, just being with her kids would be enough for her and Craig is the same.  It wouldn't matter if they were snowed in up to the windowsills, they'd still be happy just to be together.  Of course, I'd like it if they could see how beautiful Colorado is.  I've been there 3 times and I'd go back in a minute if I were 10 to 20 years younger.

Mary Ann, my current goal is to get by the next 7 months.  Both my father and my grandmother made it to their 84th birthday but they both left us 7 months later!  I made it to 84 about 4 weeks ago.  I'm praying for 85

Now I'm going to vegetate until the dogs tell me it's time for supper.  Tomorrow, I have a trip to make to pick up some stuff I ordered.  I need to be up and attem early.

It's not supposed to rain tomorrow but it is supposed to be cloudy.  My kind of driving day.

Stay safe and comfortable Everyfriend!

All went well today, the next hearing aids hubby gets have no batteries....how awesome is that. Batteries last maybe 3 days and usually die at the wrong time as if there is a right time for them to snuff out.

Didn't care to shop in the crowed Costco but list in hand in we went!

I am going to do a lot of nothing tonight...maybe tomorrow the garden will get done. I hope!

Jane, I know what you mean about reaching a certain age - 84 and 7 months in your case.  I had a cousin and three friends die at age 67 and I was so happy when I reached 68 so I wouldn't join them.  Two schoolmates have died in the last month, one was 95 in December and the other was 94 in November.  Even at this age, it's hard to take.

Finally...an evening of NOT watching weather move in. I'm actually out on the patio enjoying my flowers and birds.
At one point last night my "wallmate" (other side of duplex) texted Where are you? I replied In my closet listening to Channel 4 on battery radio.  She replied Me,too on Channel 9.
We reassured each other until both stations said circulation west of us had moved on north.
Thirty minutes later, the sun was shining. Crazy!!!!

I'm reading posts and holding all of you in my heart...especially those with special concerns.  Hope that one of these days, things will settle down (not just weather....nothing bad, just time consuming) and I'll be able to join the general conversation.
Hugs to Everyfriend.

Jenny, thanks for missing me, I usually start at my last post & "read on".... but I started with the last/last tonight & when I got yours I kept going back until I realized I had read all those posts before but had not found one from me!  How absent minded is that?? I am so sorry to read your father broke his hip. My father was nearly 95 when he cracked his, just twisted where he was standing & snapped that bone. The doctors were impressed with how fast he recovered after surgery, walking up & down the halls. BUT, when he went home he wouldn't do the exercises & only did them while the home health person was there. He thought it was time to let everyone wait on him & within the year he couldn't do anything on his own. Very sad, his muscles just shriveled away, broke my heart. He had to spend the last 7 months of his life in a "nursing home", his worst nightmare, but he had to be lifted from bed to wheel chair, etc. I'm sure this is a double stress for you with helping the family there and wanting to help your father. Hugs & prayers for all of you.

Larry, before I forget to ask, I thought when anyone went with Hospice they "assigned" their insurance, including Medicare, over to that organization to pay whatever they would normally pay for doctors.  At least that is what we were told when Cas' mother had them. In other words, whatever was needed would be paid for by the insurance but Hospice would fill in & manage the money. Is that not true?  I thought both (Medicare & supplemental) had to still be paid but was handled by Hospice. I hope there is no problem using another doctor. I trimmed my toenails today & was thinking how difficult is has become because that is the distance my eyes are the worse... glasses do not help for that distance! I sit on the floor & curl up & really can't see what I am doing & concerned I will nip the skin. Getting old is not for sissies, is it?

I decided overnight that I would go with the new auto insurance policy Hartford has in Kansas... same coverage but will save me about $150 per year. The only difference is that I give up my discount for all these years without a claim that would have counted off on the deductable for collision. I was bragging to the lady on the line that "I've been driving this little car for almost 6 years and don't have a single ding from cars parking too close. True, not a scratch or anything, UNTIL I was rushing to get to the store this afternoon & because I had pulled too far to one side so I could get that new bike out, I turned the wheel too sharp & caught the handle bar of my regular bicycle... it has a "hanger" to hold the handlebars in place on the wall, but I have 2 of those stretchy hoses hanging over one side of the bike... & just plain goofed & now have a 3" long scratch & even a little dent on my fender.  :tissue: That's what happens when bragging, right??? I have been kickinng myself ever since, my fault & nobody else to blame. Wrecked my baby in my own garage.

I had a few minutes over 4 hours sleep last night & no nap so better get to bed, few dishes to clean up first. Cats had their last meal & are outside. I've been talking too much in here so time to shut up, anyway...... We had a whole day without rain! Yeah!!! Lawn mowers will be here at 8:00 am so have to have gates unlocked & things out of the way, cats & me fed & will vac the pool while they mow. I want to weed whip in the berm so their mower will pick up what I cut off. I have a  few spots I trim because they get a little speedy & kind of beat up my little trees. It was so nice that Cas loved working in the yard all those 60 years!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem this morning.  I checked the weather and I want to be on the road by 8:30....9 at the latest.  It's supposed to rain this afternoon and I really don't want to be out driving in a downpour.

I had to make doggie food this morning before I could feed the girls so I id that while we waited out the time for their pill.  Alls well and when I finish here, I'll go make the bed and get dressed and ready to hit the trail.

SHIRLEY, I have the MOST trouble cutting my toenails!  They've gotten so thick and besides that fact, my hands don't want to bend in the right direction and if I manage that, I can't squeeze the darn clippers due to "Arthur" interruption!  Who ever told him he was welcome in our lives anyway?

Now I'm  really off to get dressed.  I hope everyfriend has a good day and the storms stay away!

49°. Good morning everyone, more rain in forecast for today. We had tornado warnings for RI yesterday and glad it didn't happen. I am really not  feeling too great with all the dampness in the air. That and Mr. Art H Ritis do not get along. Oh well life goes on, right?

JANE  hope you weren't too zapped when you left Wm. yesterday.

LARRY  Hope the day gets better for you with the coughing. I like your posts very much. I always enjoy reading them. So far I have not heard any negative remarks about Hospice. Sounds like a wonderful place for help and caring people.

JOY  we have had so many days with no sun we really appreciate a sunny day.

MARY ANN  I never thought I would live to be the 88 I now am. Very few in my family ever reached 80.

JENNY  this CNA has been coming here for almost 2 years and this was the first time she took a sick day off.

AMY  glad they have hearing aids without batteries now. So far I still hear good but wonder if it is time to get an ear check up.

CALLIE  good seeing your post. You, Shirley and Lloyd have been in my thoughts with all those tornadoes. I pray everyone stays safe.

SHIRLEY  now your car is broken in with that little scratch and ding in it. ),

LLOYD  I shut off my computer and TV any time there is a thunder storm. Years ago my husband insisted on keeping the TV on and it got zapped by lightening. The good thing about that we ended up with a new color TV, no more black and white one.

JANE  like you my toenails are thick now. I cut them when I get out of the shower and I use a pair of cutting pliers to cut them. Cannot use regular clippers on them.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Looking like rain here again...will try to get the outside work done before it starts.

Gloria, I appreciate the sun but when we head to the city or long drives I like cloudy days....much easier for the dogs.

Jane, is your Walmart using the self checkout? I refuse to use them. One Walmart in the city only had those open, no cashier ones open and when they told my friend she would have to use it, she left the "stuff" in her buggy and walked out.

Lloyd, happy to read it was a modem problem and not you had a problem.

Better get a move on  time is moving faster than I am this morning.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone.  Another very hot day here in South Carolina and more roadside fires and a big plant burned down yesterday in Thomson, Georgia due to the heat and running out of water.

Once again I had some difficulty sleeping last night and really very short of breath and moving very slowly this morning.  I expect the aid to be here around 10 am this morning to help me with a bath and the nurse will likely be here sometime today as she hasn't made it out here yet so we can meet her.
Scott and Elizabeth got the TV mounted onto the wall at the foot of my hospital bed and this afternoon and evening will work on the oxygen lives around the house and moving my office desk into my new bedroom.  I still plan on using my office, especially in the morning as it is a lovely room with a lot of sunshine but know I will enjoy having my big computer and monitor and B&W laser printer available in my bedroom.  The room will accommodate it well and it shouldn't be in the way.  I have had a lot of time to plan things out exactly as I would like to have them and Scott and Elizabeth are making these ideas come to life.  Am I a lucky man or what?

Joy, just remember that the likelihood of your blood tests turning out well is as good as if they didn't and if they didn't you can worry or whatever about them when you know.  I don't waste a second on worrying about what might be.

Jenny, I know I must be holding on to something now or have it right at hand or I will just fall over as am getting pretty weak.  So I move slowly and very carefully.

Mary Ann, I also have taken calcium for many years after a bone test showed I had the condition down one step below Osteoporosis.

Shirley, I signed nothing over to Hospice and was told it is part of the benefit I am do under Medicare Part A and that I won't owe a penny.  The one exception is perhaps having to go to the podiatrist to get my toenails trimmed.  That is my only schedule appointment I have left uncancelled.  It may be she had Part B and or D along with the Part A Medicare where I haven't needed those extra parts due to the fine health insurance I have as a retired Federal employee.  You don't pay into Medicare Part A after the age of 65 so I haven't paid into it for the last 13 years but did pay out of my monthly retirement annuity from retiring at 54 years of age until I turned 65.  Hope this info is helpful. All my future medical care will be by the Hospice doctors, nurses and aids (with the possible exception of the toenails and that will still be covered by my health insurance which Pat still needs and will have throughout her life along with a survivor annuity worth 55% of what my current annuity is plus she will have her own Social Security.  Please treat yourself and go to a Podiatrist to get your toenails trimmed.  They know what they are doing and our feet are very important.  To me it is money well spent.  I tried a nail saloon and paid the same as I pay for my co-pay part of the cost of the podiatrist and they don't hurt me like I had one of the nail people do.  For goodness sakes forgive yourself for your little accident in your garage.  What better place to do that as it involved no one else. I also suffer that "never know when to quite writing" little problem but that is me and I am not likely to change after all of these years until become too weak to type, which I don't plan to see happen as this is about the easiest thing I can do.

Lloyd, you are wrong as I know I miss not seeing your postings but time goes by so quickly sometimes I don't realize a person may not have posted for a day or more.  Besides we knew you might have decided to see if you could get out of all that stormy and bad weather you have been experiencing.

Gloria, I have yet to find one thing to complain about or be unhappy about with Hospice.  I am blessed not to have to walk my last days by myself and with only my family to help.  I don't turn my electronics off anymore regardless of the storm although with laptops and iPad and iPhone they don't stay plugged in all the time so little risk there. I may not be wise but that is the way it is going to be.  In Georgia I carried an extra $10/month charge on my electric bill for an insurance that anything involving electrics, appliances and such would be covered up to $50,000 in the event of an electrical strike.  I found that wasn't offered by the electric company here in Georgia although the power company has been sold to another company and I haven't checked to see if they offer that service and probably won't.

Amy, I have found the person monitoring the self checkout to be very helpful when needed and now usually use the hand scanner they have as better than lifting everything out of the cart. They don't seem to have many check out stations open.  Pretty soon we will be helped by robot anyway.

Larry, it looks like the changes you are making are coming right along.  They're not only comfortable changes but convenient.  I usually have something near that I can grab if it is necessary.

I have used the self-checkout when I have only a few items but if there are a lot, I let the cashier do the work.

We had rain overnight but I don't know what is in store for the rest of the day.

Tom surprised me by coming home at 10 am.  He taught three hours and doesn't have to return until noon.  After he is finished with school, he'll head for Holland and hopes to be home by 10 pm.

Hi everyone, just passing so I thought i'd say 'Hello' and catch up on Lloyd's latest misshaps as we seem to be missing hooking up lately, Larry; agree with you about hitting things with the wheelchair,at least you can laugh about it and that's a good thing, just don't lean forward to pick something up from the floor as I did recently !, what falls now stays on the floor  :), good to read your posts though.

I'm back home in plenty of time to beat the storm that is supposed to come through beginning around 1 p.m.

I'm taking lots of mental notes about Hospice because my current plan is to remain in this house.  It's one floor and very open.  The dorways to the bedrooms are a bit narrow but I think know a walker will clear them because I had a friend visit with her walker.  If I remember correctly, I think there might have been enough clearance for a wheelchair.  See, I'm planning ahead already!

Since we were up early and I stayed up, I'm also planning a nap later.  Getting to be a "lazy old lady" but who cares!

Don't remember who said it but I'm going to try pliers type clippers on my toe nails.  Maybe even the dog clippers will work better.

Keep on keeping on!

Jane, I think my hallway would accommodate a wheel chair, but the doors to the bath and bedrooms would not.  When I go to a doctor's office, they park the chair outside the door and I walk in.  Fortunately, I can still walk that short distance.  I have the subject in the back of my mind, but I'm not making any plans yet.

No rain as of yet.....but the sky looks as though it could empty at  any moment! Managed to get the garden tilled. My tiller is old, doesn't look spiffy but on the third pull she goes!! We also made another little bed for a few vegetables.....had to put a barrier around it as both dogs love vegetables plus they love to dig. Put fresh dirt in the circle bed at the front and planted red geraniums in it. Bird bath is all set for the birds, just need to put some water in it for them. Thought maybe I could till the manure in and start planting but  leaving it till tomorrow. Had enough dancing with the tiller for one day..

Our house is set up with wide doorways and a ramp in the front and one from the garage. The bathroom is set up with a higher toilet, Kyle wanted to call a plumber but I said he knew how and to show me...so we did it. He was boss and I was worker. :)  The shower unit is a walk in, we had the tub taken out when  his RA was bad and this is easier for him.

Jane, when I clipped /trim my Moms toe nails she would soak her feet in warm water and that helps soften the nails and made it easier to work on.

Think I am going to rest tonight..

I soaked my feet in warm water for about 15 minutes (that sure felt good) and then I broke the nail clippers on my big toenail!  Whoever called these the "Golden Years"  must be laughing out the wrong side of his face right now.  I'd say they are more like, the "Try it" years!

Good Night my friends.  It's still raining here.  I'm so sick of rain I could cry but that would just make the inside as wet as the outside and I'm not in favor of that!

Sadly this has not been a good day.  I could not get in touch with my dad, so felt there might be something wrong.  Diane, dad's lady friend eventually called to tell me that she was out getting her hair done and when she returned dad was on the floor in front of his chair.  He does not know how he got there.  Paramedics came and picked him up and put him in his chair.  A bit later he tried to get up to go to the bathroom and found he can not stand at all, so paramedics came again and took him to the hospital  They did admit him to the hospital.  He has been taken for X-rays......CT scan of his head.....hip and knee X-rays.  They took three cultures....due to his temperature that spiked to 102.5.  They did load him up with morphine before they took him to X-ray as he was complaining of pain.  So hard to be this far away😢😢

I found out tonight that Dave and Michele have hired a girl that just graduated from high school to help out with the children on chemo weeks.  This will sure help them out to know that they have extra coverage.  Michele has been better this week with the week off from chemo and the steroids she was given for the awful acne she has on her face and head.

We also found out that our California Son has been offered and has accepted a new job opportunity that will require a move.  He is very happy with the offer and knows that this job will be a good one for his career.  He and his wife are very sad to be leaving Paso Robles, but feel the new location in the Sacramento Area will be a all around better place to live.

I do hope EVERYFRIEND had a good day and will sleep well.

EDIT.....DIANE just called and they have moved my dad by ambulance to a different hospital that has a trauma and neurological department as they found he has a brain bleed....they will repeat the CT scan tomorrow morning.  I do not know if I should get down there or not....I feel so helpless.

Good morning everyone.

Hope the rain holds off and I can get the garden in this morning. We didn't get the rain they called for yesterday.

Something was having an argument/fight outside of the bedroom window at 2 am last night. Sure set the dogs to barking, I got up and turned the front light on but didn't see anything.

Jenny, I think I would be making the trip but that is just me..see what has been said for today and take it from there. You have had a lot on your plate lately. Take time for you too please.

Jane, what a beautiful photo of your family, can't believe Emma is now one!! Time for better clippers!!

Need to get a few things done and in order before the day progresses...

We found Lloyd, now where is Shirley?

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning.  It is a pretty sunny, calm morning here.  We had a thunder storm yesterday, and some damage around the area.

I did not get in here yesterday, as I was out early to go for a couple x-rays and wound up having to be there  for almost  3 hours.  Just mostly waiting, as they don't take appointments for just an x-ray and will work you in  in between the ones who  have appointments. it was a particularly busy day and the x-rays only took about 20 min.  The rest of the time was spent just waiting.  I had only expected to be there for maybe an hour.  So, that was the whole morning lost.

I got home and fixed a late  lunch and then started watching a movie and fell asleep.  I woke up around 6 and then, had to  get myself together to go down to play cards.  They usually start about 6 and I had to call and let one of the gals know that I would be a little late.  As it turned out, we lost, anyway.

Larry, I have been a worrier all my life. My husband used to say he didn't have to worry, because I did it for him. As it turned out, my blood work turned good.  In fact, the doctor was more than pleased with how I am getting along.  That made for a very pleasant and relaxing evening.  Now, I still have an appointment with the orthopedic doctor in a week or so, and will find out the results of the x-rays I had yesterday.  I have to go about every 6 months for various kinds of tests, so I do feel kind of apprehensive at times.  I really need to take some lessons from you with the wonderful attitude that you are showing all of us.

Jane, that was a wonderful picture of Emma with her parents.  Hard to think that she is a year old already.

Jenny, I feel so bad for you. You have had so much to deal with lately, and now this latest problem with your Dad has to be so upsetting.  I am sure your family would understand if you decide to go and see what is going on for yourself.  It would give you some peace of mind, even if there isn't much you could do.  Just getting to see him would help, I am sure.

I will just say that I hope everyone is dealing with whatever problems that arise as best as they can.  Everyone has problems, just some are a little bit more harder to deal with than others.  I always say a prayer to help me be strong and that does help.

Have a good Friday !

Joy

My days & nights are so mixed up with cats wanting in & out, eating at all hours.... Anyone having trouble sleeping just join the crowd, me and my kids are having the same trouble and I do believe we are all just keeping too busy and the mind doesn't stop when the body slows down. Not sure when the slow down will take place or why we are so busy all the time, but I do not seem to get much "finished up" around here. Yesterday morning I noticed my back muscles were hurting, had not had that same pain for quite a while. When I picked up the vacuum pole for the pool I realized what was making it sore.... pool cleaning that had not been done since late last October when it was covered & closed. Looking at the pool all nice & clean this morning, is like looking at a big flower bed or veggie garden with all the weeds pulled, but it doesn't last a few days & got to do it all over again, weeds grow and leaves, dirt blows into the pool. It got hot yesterday, think this will be a summer of extremes.

Larry, you mention "Part A" and all I've heard is "Part B".... what is the difference, is it because I am the "spouse"?  I have not investigated any of the Social Security or Medicare rules & regs because Cas took care of all that. Maybe I need to wake up, you are helping a lot to discover what benefits are available with Hospice. When I had Civil Service jobs a lifetime ago, I was told the benefits were the best offered. Did things change over the years and now all benefits are the same?  Sorry if I ask dumb questions but it is a fact that for more than 60 years I went along with whatever Cas said was best. I raised kids & took care of the house, but main job was to take care of him. He never had to pack a suitcase or wash a dish, anything like that as long as he was alive. I was his other pair of hands when he was doing a job around the house and didn't object because that's the way it was growing up.

Jenny, I am so sorry to hear the news about your father. Totally understand being unable to dash back to be with him, only you know your limits but regrets are not easy to live with. What ever you decide you will know that you made the right decision for that moment of your life. One deciding factor is whether he will know you are there or not. My heart aches for you & your father. Glad to hear someone is there to help Michele with the kids for now, it will give you peace of mind when you & Bob are needing to rest up.  God Bless.

Good morning, Amy, I've been here but sometimes forget & post in photos & not here. Do need to get on my horse & clean house, will have visitors (family) around this week end for the wedding. The Canada geese are making a lot of noise on the river, the ones without babies fly off to the fields to eat but the ones with families just wander up & down the river hoping someone will give them a hand out. My youngest son was over Wed night & was surprised that some will come take bread bites out of my hands. I haven't encouraged the ones with babies to come close, I toss the bread out in the water so the babies can't be caught by the cats. I have the sliding door open right by my laptop, all of a sudden the birds are not singing and the geese have flown away, just the sound of traffic on the by-pass around the city. Rush hour traffic about to slow down.

Jane, that is an adorable photo of Emma & parents. Hard to believe she is already a year old. She has such a wise look, don't you think?  An impish grin.

I have not had breakfast yet or dressed, so better get moving. Hope everyone has a wonderful day (Fantastic Friday).

You slipped in, Joy, so glad your blood work looks good & sorry about the long wait for X-ray. I tell my kids that the older I get the less patience I have to allow anyone to waste my time! I will agree with you with advice for Jenny, about going to see her father. Decisions so hard to make when they are so tired already.

Lloyd, you also popped in... where are you going to need passports? I thought you were heading to FL to find shells.

Good morning everyone. Phone woke me very early this morning-robocall. Boy did that make me angry. I did go back to sleep so that was good for a change. The sun is shining for a change and no rain in the forecast for today. I think I will have breakfast and head outside and stay there till my CNA gets here. Have not been out in a few days with the rain/dampness and need fresh air. Excuse me if I make no comments today, just not up to sitting here and typing.  I sure need a good back massage today and CNA will do that before anything else when she gets here.

JANE  I am the one who uses nail pliers to cut my toenails. The cutting pliers are no meant for our nails but to cut through the small nails that we use for different nailing jobs.
You litl Emma is adorable. Hardly seems possible it is already a year.

To be honest, Lloyd, I vote with Nancy! The scenery would be much better NE than the sea shore, temperature as well! Hope you get all worked out. I have not had a passport since coming back from Englad in 1957 with a military one. I can't go into Canada because they won't let me carry a pistol & being a "weak little old lady", I've got to have some protection!  :2funny:

Good Afternoon,

Janie,  love the picture of your Tulsa Trio!  When are you coming to visit?

Jenny,  oh, dear friend, my heart is heavy for your situation with your Dad and your Denver family.  I was in the same situation as a "long distance child" with family concerns at home.  Sure causes a real pull on the emotions.
So glad to read that Dave/Michele will have help with the kids this summer.  Will be fun for them and make things a bit easier for everyone else - including, I hope, helping you feel more comfortable about going to spend time with your Dad.

Larry, can't say enough about how impressed I am with your attitude and willingness to adjust.  Sounds as if you're getting everything set up in the very best way.
I, too, am 100% in favor of Hospice.  Back in 1992, my MIL was in a Hospice facility for the last several weeks of her life and we couldn't have asked for better care for her and for the family.

LLoyd,  I'm with Nancy in choosing to go North this time of year.  Sun and sand are for winter months!!!!  Hope you have a good trip = whichever directions you go.

Shirley,  I swear you could make going around the block complicated!!!!!  :smitten:  Leadville Facebook Page looks as if that area is not ready for summer.  Campgrounds around there are still snow-packed.  However, we used to call BV/Salida area "the banana belt" so things may be better where you like to go.

I'm busy following the OK State and OU Girls' Softball teams in the NCAA national Championship tournament. As for the last 23 years, all games are played here in OKC at The Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.  Both schools have advanced to the third round and will play each other tonight in what's known locally as a "Bedlam Game".  I'll bet they'll wish for a bigger stadium.
Needless to say,  All My Children and I will be on opposite sides.  ;D

I can hear the kitchen counter groaning under the load of groceries I dumped on it before lunch.  Guess I'd better go relieve it of its misery.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.
