It is GREAT to find all y'all here again!  :D I will try to come in more often than in the past.  I usually don't have much to add to the ongoing conversations, so I'll take my tray over to the table in the corner by the window and smile as y'all carry on ..... just "observing" you know.  ::)

Good evening to all my friends.  Now I can sleep to night, Thanks again Pat, for getting us altogether.

I tried for over a half hour to get in to SS, I was told my email was wrong, and my name deAngel did not exist, I am still Gloriade, and my new handle is Lindancer without the e, as there are other Linedancers.

I almost started drinking  :) I missed the gang so much.

The only other post I go in are Norm's and crafts, knittin etc.

I hope Lloyd finds us.

LINDANCER  glad you explained the name. I didn't exist either but stuck to the name. Guess I will start calling you Gloria now. Great seeing you made it in. All I have to do now is find a way to make the font bigger. Then I would be more happy than I am now.

I increased the font size a while ago. Hit CTRL+R (or CMD+R if you're on a Mac) and that should help.

I happily made it , not having my daily dose of friend June was torture :)

It's so nice to be among friends again.  Those withdrawal pains were working overtime, especially since we had a new great grand daughter and no one to tell!  I have read a lot of your posts but never participated. Now that we are all "Newbies" again I felt it was time I did.  Nice to meet y'all.

Oldiesman, I'm on an iMac and my font remained the same. I would like to know how to post a fresh picture though. I can take one with my iMac, but how I get it into here from my line-up is like trying to read Greek.

Oh, I am so delighted to have us all "home" again. Mycheal, be assured that when we are not able to post, you are ALL in my prayers. It is very nice to be missed though, thank you.

We had a good workout at Balance and Mobility. We end the exercises with a game of Volleyball with a HUGE ball, no net.. and a game of kick ball with a small ball. It is fun, and very tempting to leave our chairs.

Tomorrow will be a busy day. My son Gary will be conducting an hour of Bible Study a 10 A.M. and at 2:30 p.m. i meet my new doctor at the clinic downstairs. Since it is our first visit as patient and Dr., I sort of expect it to be rather lengthy, but that is up to the doctor of course. I typed up a very brief bio. of my various serious illnesses and hospitalizations, whether she appreciates it or or not remains to be seen. I'll let you know.

I have been eating a light supper while gabbing with you all. Finishing up with a choc. pudding and black coffee.

Lindancer....were you at one time a line dancer? I was, and loved it. I still remember some of the steps. My favorite was dancing to New York, New York. I would like to address you as Gloria de. I always liked that de in your former moniker.

Janie, me too.....a very happy poster. I'm glad you were there via email.

I've had a very busy day and I'm all in but my shoe strings and I think they might even be on the way in!  I'm off to bed so I will bid you...

Good Night Everyfriend!  Sleep peacefully and if you have a word with the Man upstairs, thank him for the presence of Pat Scott and our diligent Oldiesman (Michael) for getting us all together again.  They could have just thrown up their hands, said OH WELL and let us drift.  But they persevered!  And here we are!  Thank you God for giving them to us and Thank you Pat and Michael for your diligence on our behalf.  YOU DA BEST!

My heart nearly stopped when I tried to get in this morning about 5:30.... same old "Sorry" page & I went into the kitchen in deep depression.. :'(  ... Here it is 8:05 and all's well.  Thank you, one more time, Michael!

We're expecting T-storms today, but not as bad as in MO.  Yesterday was another trip to the tire doctor for the RV.  All tires (6 on the ground & spare) are okay after a new valve extender put on yesterday... when the guy put the new tire I bought because it was flat in the driveway (inside rear), he put a "normal" valve core on, guess that's all he had on his truck, was house call that took 2 days.  Had to come take the "old-new" one off & bought a new (these are Michelin tires so not cheap) & throw away the original spare that only made one trip to St.Louis.  Sad story, huh? It is never anyone's fault but I get stuck with the bill.  :tickedoff:   

Want to take a run to Cheyenne Bottoms, large wetland where migrating birds stop.  Been in KS for about 55 years & always knew about it because my photographer brother had absolutely gorgeous photos, dawn & dusk, that he took back in the old days.  I won't get a chance for those dawn or dusk photos this time but will map the route for next trip.  Kind of "iffy" weather today so may have to wait until tomorrow, got to road test these tires.

It looks like we had a bit of a glitch this morning but here we are all safe and sound again.  I slept well and I slept in until 7:30 this morning.  I feel rested and ready!  So watch out!

I hope everyfriend has a good day today.  I'll be back later to see what everyfriend has been up to.  Right now, I need my second cup of coffee and I need to get dressed before I get caught in my jammies with my hair all "anyhow".

Hi everyone on another beautiful Spring morning here in South Carolina and we expect to get to 73 this afternoon.  Yesterday was a beautiful, low humidity and sunny day here.  Pat and I decided on a late lunch/early dinner out and we went to one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants for a good meal.  We stopped at Kroger's on the way home as Pat had a few items to get there.  The main activity for today will be going to dinner at the church and getting to spend sometime later this afternoon and evening with Scott, which is always a highlight of our week. 

Andie, congrats on that new bundle of joy for your family.  Great grandchildren are wonderful. 

June, know you are looking forward to the Bible study with Gary and then your new doctor appointment.  I can almost guarantee your new doctor will appreciate that brief summary of your medical history.  I have used a document that shows all my medications and dosages, allergies, and one or two lines of description of the significant medical events in my life. I never would remember all of that off of my head especially dates.

Phyllis, I was in email contact with Joan yesterday and she didn't mention any problems so hopefully she is all right.

It's a beautiful day so far in Grand Rapids.  Cooler than your area, but with the sun shining, things will warm up.  It is 44 degrees now at 10 am.

I've done a bit of "putzing" since I visited here earlier.  For the uninitiated, that's the same as doing "stuff" only slower and with more deviations.  I do have the dishwasher running because I can put the dishes away this afternoon while Kiran occupies the computer chair. 

It's a bright sunshiny day here, too but not very warm yet.  It's 45º right now and supposed to hit 57 before going down.  The net two days, the prediction is for temps in the 70s.  I can live with that.  In fact, I wouldn't mind a whole summer between 70 and 80.  Now I'm starting to sound like my father!

I wonder if Lloyd is out there somewhere?  Has anyone heard from him?

     My son went into a hardware store and in the process of checking out the cashier asked what he was up to lately. He said "just putzing around".  She responded with "Gee, there are still people out there putzing".  It's gotten to be a bit of a joke around our group.

Just rain so far but storms this afternoon.  It's Wednesday and they are now calling it "Hail Wednesday".  The last two Wednesdays have cost over a Billion dollars in damages from hail in North Texas.  So far, we've only gotten quarter or pea size, not the golf ball, tennis ball or even baseball size they have gotten north of us. More hail is predicted for later today.

Redbud, "they" say we wont get the nasty stuff here, it is going to stay in your area and move on East.  Just possible thunder with our rain this afternoon and then two fronts coming behind to clear out the moisture and suppose to be nice the rest of the week.  But you know how "they" are, not very reliable.

Janie, I had contacted Lloyd with the message from Pat. He wrote back that he could not get in, so I emailed his message to Jeanne Lee, as I knew I would not be able to help him…with me, I need all the help I can get, and it was given to me.

Larry, my mind works so slowly now, I thought it best to give the doctor the vital info. on paper. When I moved in they took all kinds of info at that time, so I may be repeating, but at least I won't have to sit there like a "DUH".

Hal, has your area caught up on the needed amount of rainfall yet ? We haven't. El Nino didn't show up and our rainy season is over now till winter time comes again. Maybe God will gives us a miracle of a semi flood.

Hi Jenny Sweetie. Hope the family is all faring well now.

Amy, Cheers !!!!!! Isn't it thrilling to be "oned" again ?

Don, YES!!! It is like Christmas again, without all the paper and ribbons. I am SO grateful to Pat, her husband and our guru Oldiesman.  YAY !!!!!!!

Good afternoon, just a little passed 12. on a beautiful coll sunny day, no wind. Yesterday was awful with wind gust to 50mi.

June, I am so happy to see you post, and good luck with your doctor's visit.  Yes, I did teach line danceing for quite a few years, here at the club house, at another  houseing unit and at the Senior Center, right till 3 years ago, when my breathing and my back put me down.  Yes I always like NY,NY ww had one man who had a top hat and cane.  the other monrning I was listening to my favorite station WLNG, and they play Cab Driver, I was even moving my legs in bed ;D That was one of the first dances I learned.

Every once in a while, I hear a piano piece being played and it includes "Twinkle, twinkle, little star".  I know the piece wasn't written for the poem, but the music is what you sing when you sing the song.

It is so nice to see so many people returning.  I had a little trouble getting in, but finally made it.  I've since changed my User Name so people don't address me as matock so often.

Joan, you would be surprised how often I was called Ma Tock at work.  Norm's first wife was Joyce and her initials were JLT and she was referred to as Jilt.  I don't mind being addressed as matock, however, when I always signed my name, I didn't see why people didn't use it.  If I know the name, I try to use it instead of the user name.  Thank you.

Mary Ann--I try hard to call people by the name they prefer.  When I was young, being the twins John and Joan, folks called us Jack and Jill.  I really didn't care for that.  My twin went through life being "Jack" but I got rid of the "Jill" long before I went to school.

We've had some hard rain here tonight, but we are not expecting any violent weather.  I have been watching the weather channel because that's the most interesting (to me) thing that is on TV tonight.  I think the storm, or at least tornado, missed Callie.

The new great granddaughter is the first female addition to this family in 21 years.  She is also the first granddaughter on both sides of her family, who have large extended families.  We figure this child's feet will not touch the ground until she is about four! 

We are in the SE corner of Arkansas.  Severe storms have been forecasted for most of the state all day but, so far, they have bypassed  us.  Either the natives are restless or thunderstorms are brewing in the distance and the tornado/flash flood warnings just popped up on the tv.  The water has not completely receded from our 20 inches of rain a few weeks ago.  We are sitting high and dry but there was so much water on the street that we had to drive across the street to take supper to our shut-in neighbor.

It is one of those words that can get you in trouble, if used in the wrong place and under the wrong conditions. I generally wouldn't call someone that, but using it as my son did (as is most common around here) meaning he was doing nothing very meaningful is acceptable.

The Rooster

You know the story. Jesus predicts that Peter will deny Him 3 times and when he does a rooster will crow. Peter in all his confidence says, "No way Lord, I would never do that!" Of course Jesus knew it, Peter did it and the rooster crowed. Then in the Gospel of John, Chapter 21 we read where Jesus reinstates Peter after His resurrection asking him three times if he loved Him. Peter says, "Yes!" 3 times and Jesus without hesitation says, "Then feed My sheep."

What did Peter think of when he heard the rooster crow in the years after that? You know he heard it. The rooster never goes permanently silent. Did he remember his screw up, his failure, his absolute falling on his face when His Lord needed him? I think only for a second. I would tend to believe that reflecting on Peter's words that he would write and the life he lived, his thoughts would go to John 21, where Jesus restored him remembering how far God has brought him. Peter was commissioned to feed the sheep. He did not wallow in the guilt; he lived a "Jesus freak" type life of a man who was restored. That's what Jesus died for.

What about you?

When you experience a memory through a smell, song, picture, location, calendar date, tradition, etc that brings back a hard time, mistake, failure, painful moment, what do you remember? I ask myself as much as you because I am convinced that God does not want you and I to have a huge pit in our stomach forever and degrade ourselves or feel sorry for ourselves. That can take our eyes off the cross, the prize, and we will miss so many divine moments. Jesus died for all of the "As Is" moments we have. WE ARE REINSTATED!!! What if you focused on how far God has brought you? Look where you were and now where you are. God is good. Really.

The next time you hear the rooster crow in your own life, remember, amidst the scars, God never left you where you were at, has showed Himself to you time and time again and has reinstated you through the cross.

Feed His sheep.

June, go to the gallery.  Click on 'add picture' and then direct it to your deskto and name of your photo. once it is there you can post it in a discussion  by clicking on the image, then select everything in the "BB Code" box under "Image Linking Codes". After that just paste that code here.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm a bit late getting here this morning due to the fact that we (the doggies and I) slept in this morning and then I remembered that I had to make dog food.  I totally forgot about it last night but when you're sitting around with droopy eyelids, forgetting things is the best thing you do.

I wonder if anyone found Lloyd yet.  I miss his humor and I wonder if the cows are in and the skidster is working and if they've had rain and how Nancy's doing and if the sun is shining in Missouri and if he'll raise turkeys this summer....

I'm off to the scour the cupboards to see if I have all the contents of my son's favorite casserole.  It's his reward for getting my taxes done early this year.  If I don't have everything, I'll be making a quick run to the store.

Hi everyone on a cloudy morning with rain in the forecast for us this afternoon.  It is now in the 60's and is to get up to 79 later today.  Just my usual Thursday planned with going to coffee this morning and then to the Wisdom group at church.  The rest of the day will be free.

Jeanne and others, a few minutes ago I called Lloyd on Skype to tell him we were missing him here in this discussion.  He has not yet been able to get signed on so I explained the process and what to expect to him advising that everyone had the same problem initially on these reconstituted discussions.  I think he hadn't understood the difference between the Login and the Register functions.  He said he had overworked yesterday and was planning on working hard again today so he may not make it again today but he seems to be OK. 

Gloria De, glad you identified yourself as wasn't making the connection with your new Login name of Lindancer.

Gloria, you have given me an idea.  I am going to try to get the email address for  as many of the folks here and in the other discussions on S&F's  as I can into my contacts and put all of these names in a group so if something like this happens again I would be able to forward on a message like Pat sent out.  I make no promise I will have everyone in the group and certainly not in many of the discussions I don't follow but at least it would be a start.   

Joy, hard to believe it is time for another baseball season but know it will start this next week as you indicated. 

Bubble, thank you for putting in the easy explanation for getting our pictures back under our Log-In names for our postings.  I had forgotten the process so copied it and emailed it to myself so I can access it in the future.  I don't like to reinvent the wheel.  :)

Kelly, glad the IOM has at least one person posting here.  You are a good representative of your country and share such interesting information about it from time to time. 

JaneS, Lloyd told me the reason he worked so long yesterday was that he is using a skidster than a friend has loaned him and wants to get as much done as he can before the friend comes back for his equipment, which could be today.

Good Morning, Everyfriend,

I'm up, dressed and have the bed made - in preparation for the delivery/installation of a new washer and dryer.  About 10 days ago, my 9-year-old washer "suffered a fatal incident"  (i.e., burned out).  Dryer is the same age and there was a discount for buying both - so I did!

When I was at my son's house for Easter dinner, I did a couple of laundry loads - but the hamper is running over again, of course.

Loved the Chuckle about the wife's comment on the unnecessary roughness call.

True story (according to her):  A friend's new husband took her to the first football game she'd ever seen and began to explain the positions on the team.  She understood "linemen" (in a line), "halfback" (2 of them) and "fullback" (1) - so when he pointed out the quarterback, she logically asked, "Where are the other three?"


Off to wait on that call saying "we'll be there in 30 or 40 minutes" - which can come anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Good morning...

Wednesday's storms without the hail rolled in about 5PM with 70 MPH winds and sideways rain and thankfully no hail.  Tornado sirens went off - no tornadoes but to inform people about the winds etc. The sirens are really just a warning system about bad weather, but here  in "Tornado Alley", everyone immediately thinks tornado!  Beautiful blue skies and sunshine this morning.  Except for the wet grass and lower humidity, you wouldn't know it rained :).

I have two different email addresses for Jackie (Vanilla) so sent an email to both explaining what happened.  She was supposed to get internet access yesterday so hopefully at least one of them will reach her.

When I signed back in, I automatically used my old name.  Sandy was able to change hers so think I will try to change mine and maybe even find a new picture.

I had to run to the store for one ingredient for the casserole but I did another chore while I was there.

Bubble and Gloria....The casserole will be ready around 6 but it makes a lot so I'll put the extra in the hidey hole for anyone who gets hungry.  (We DO have a hidey hole in our new place, don't we)

I got my washer and dryer both new when I moved to this house and that will be 19 years in May.  I've had one service call on the dryer and all they did was blow the lint out of the hose.  And I've had two service calls on the washer and both of those were due to Frankie stuffing too much stuff in the washer.  I guess Amana still made good stuff 19 years ago.

Better go find some lunch.  Ya'll behave....or not!

Appliances installed - and the first of several loads is in the washer. 

Gloria mentioned tornadoes in Oklahoma.   The squall lines formed just east of I-35  - which meant seeing some spectacular cloud formations from my house, which is farther west - but no storms at all in my area.

I wrote a post but I guess I forgot to post it, as others had posted in the mean time.  I am on the post page with 41 messages now to read. 

We are having a cold and dreary day with occasional snow coming down.  No real need to go out, so it is not a bother.

CALLIE, sorry about your having to purchase a new w/d....but it is important to have clean clothes!  Dr. Dave had a new patient yesterday.....in talking to her he found out she is from Leadville, and is related to us.  She and her hubby owed the Golden Burro for some period of time. I am pretty sure it was after you left there.  Her Grandmother Vi was married to my Dad's brother Elmer.  Her name is Carol Loma.  Her mother was Iona Brink.  Do any of these names ring a bell?  Sure happy the tornadoes were not near you or the family.

Still have not heard from JACKIE.  Hoping to get email from her soon.  Do hope all has gone well with the move.

I hope you all enjoy your Thursday and I continue to enjoy seeing new names joining us every day.

Jenny,  yes, I/we did know Carol and Jack Luoma  - and I think they owned the Burro when we lived there (maybe they bought it during that time ?).   I also remember Iona. She was a Beta Sigma Phi - as was I - but we weren't in the same chapter.  Amazing!


News reports are that the tornadoes in and around Tulsa were pretty bad.  Apparently, the storms that spawned them were part of the squall line I mentioned earlier.  Since the pattern seems to move from east to west,  I suspect we're next in line.
However, the noon news said we might have near freezing temperatures next week.
I'll continue to look out the window and make my own decision.

The new laundry equipment works beautifully!  The old dryer would "yoo-hoo" when it was done; the new one plays a melody.

I am dragging in late. Have been up since early today. I was still in bed when the nurse came to do a fasting blood test that my Dr. ordered, then I did my readings and therapy, then had some breakfast, then downstairs for musical Bingo, home to relax a bit, back downstairs for lunch with three nice ladies, then home to the computer, but had a call from a sweet employee here to see if she could get me connected to Jacquie Lawson Cards...I have been without for two months now....she didn't have any more luck than I did, but we are awaiting a reply.

Now I have read all the messages.

Bubble, I so appreciate the help you have given me and will do my best to follow your instructions. Oldiesman made it sound so simple with the new methods, but I am extra slow in understanding it seems. I will try again.

I was also a Beta Sigma Phi :).  I joined in Seattle in 1968 and transferred my membership when we moved to Sulphur.  We disbanded in 1996 when we started losing members.  I haven't thought about Beta Sigma Phi in years.

Gloria and MaryTX    Is there anything more eerie than the sound of that tornado siren?  I am a Boston transplant and the first time I heard the alarm, I grabbed the kids, put them in the bathtub and gathered up pillows for them to sit on.  That was 56 years ago, now I hear the sirens and step out on the front porch to check the skies.  So far, so good.  Stay safe!

The hamburger corn casserole is in the hidey hole for anyone who is hungry.  This casserole was a staple in our family when my kids were teenagers.  It was the one thing I could put on the table that everyone liked...even my husband and he didn't like most casseroles.  He was a meat-and-potatoes man! 

I'm off to watch a little tv through my eyelids.  And I have to bring in the pups.  Their barking is beginning to annoy me and I wonder what it's doing to the neighbors.

Yes, JOAN, it really is a small word...and of course, Leadville is a very small place.  It us quite amazing though that my son found out that not only was Carol from Leadville, but that we are related.  He could have easily as not made the connection.  She commented that she only gets a bit easy when she is in Leadville and that prompted him to ask if she happen to know our family!  Amazing.

JUNE, I hope your blind work comes back with good results.

It is snowing like crazy here right now.... Nearly a total white out.  Feel badly for the commuters, especially my Dr. Dave.

I went out to have a walk this afternoon but changed my mind. It was warm, low 60's but if I had a sail on my rollator the strong would have sent me flying. I heard it howling by my windows but it needn't be a strong wind to do that. Can't complain after seeing tornado damage and hail damage on the news. Hope Callie and family are OK.

KELLY  about time you came back to the SS again. Missed your posts about your home country .

JOAN  the GE fridge I bought in 1978 is still working good.  Not bad for 38 years. Works better than the GE here that is 9 years old. A few of them here have been replaced already.  Wow all those years of graphics now floating in cyber space.  That is a big loss. I have a lot if you can use them.

BUBBLE  between you and me we could get a supply of graphics to Joan. I know I sure have a lot with a fall theme. Those not needed till September.

JANE  my son surprised me bringing me a KFC dinner. I enjoyed it for a change.

CALLIE  glad those tornadoes were not close to you. You and your family stay safe. I cannot complain about the wind here today after seeing some of the damage out there.

JENNY  latest forecast here is possible snow on Sunday. Now that the parking lot is all cleaned from the sand over the winter it would be terrible if they had to plow and sand again. I think we are all waiting to hear from Jackie.

JUNE  hello. I would love it if a nurse came here for that fasting Vampire visit.  By the time I am ready early and waiting for my ride my tummy is growling at me. The only thing I liked about the doctor I fired he didn't believe in the fasting.

ANDIE  I am a Yankee from Rhode Island so never heard a tornado siren. Don't think I would like it at all. Hurricanes are bad enough and at least we are warned in advance so can prepare. Most damage is dome along the shore and I live as far inland as one can get in this state and still be in RI.

Gloria, starting in April or May (forget which, but I'll find out soon), we have the tornado siren tested the first Friday of the month.  This goes on for six or seven months.  The siren happens to be a block away from my condo, at the former location of the Township fire station, which is now across the avenue. 

Our heavy rain is over but we might get a little yet tonight.  It rained so hard this afternoon I could hardly see the railing on my deck.

GloriaD, I only tried line dancing one time at a convention in OK.  Any kind of dancing is in my blood but I had to watch a while before attempting, it helped to know the steps to not get kicked by the persons on either side.

Larry, back in the old days of SeniorNet we tried to gather names from each discussion (I helped in KS, but not many visited KS, lots of us would hang out in MO).  Good idea to put some of our info in a separate spot so we can help when needed. 

It has been one wild & busy week.  I was so excited when we could visit again and have not had time to stop by all day.  Silly part is I don't seem to have anything to show for it except being tired.

Got the RV back in the driveway, power on & slide out so I can get to the drawers in the bedroom.  I need to see what should be brought inside & replaced with spring items.  I am SO ready to hit the road but with painters coming to do the whole outside first week of May, lots of jobs (demerits) to get ready for them.   

Have a holly bush on the back side by bedroom windows that has been cut back to a nub  many times in the 28+ years we've been here & was old when we bought, so the trunk is bigger around than my whole body (true).  It is touching the house again so will need a major trim. 

Tree cutters for power company came around today to bop off some of the Cleveland pear in back.  They've been trimming all over town & working in this area for over a week.  My son trimmed the tree for me last year so it didn't need it, but I wasn't/won't argue with them, if the tree gets too lopsided I'll have it taken out.   When we planted it my husband had not had the stump rooted out where the mimosa had been so the new one had to move several feet nearer those lines.  Our fault, but we didn't dream it would grow so fast & spread as wide as it did.... supposed to be tall & skinny.

I took the RV on a test run (100 miles) yesterday to make sure the tires were okay.  Has been so irritating to have something wrong every time I want to go someplace.  They assure me all 6 tires are okay now after having to take the outside one off to put on an extender  on the new tire (shoulda done that when the new tire was put on in the driveway).  By the time I've run it back & forth to the tire place a couple times I wanted to top off the gas so got that job done this morning when the tree trimmers were on lunch break & trucks out of the way.  It takes the whole street for me to back out & turn, almost long enough to touch both sides of the curb with front & back tires... narrow street. 

We didn't get any of the promised rain... just enough to make mud out of the dust on the windshield of the RV.  Had to wash windows to drive it yesterday!  Learned my sore hand hurt worse when hanging onto the steering wheel in the wind.  My drive yesterday took me out to where lots of small grass fires burned pastures, not the biggest fire that Callie sent from OK.... but sure scarred the landscape. 

In Kansas early spring is such a joy to see the winter wheat so green, must be nearly a foot tall now & waving in the wind.  One large field of something yellow was in between two huge fields of winter wheat... gorgeous, but I couldn't get a shot because of cars behind & coming the opposite direction.  Yes, I do drive with a camera on my lap & shoot out the windows.   I have not uploaded those photos but if any are good enough, I'll post to show the wide open spaces of Kansas.   I love the mountains but appreciate the feeling of freedom that comes from being able to see for miles.

I grew up at the other end of MaryTX's "tornado alley"  in MO when there was not much warning when one was near.  One night we woke up, closed windows because of the heavy rain & went back to bed.   It was State Fair week and I was working in the Administration building (cushy job dating the son of the Secretary of the Fair)  had to be on the job about 6:00 am... only about 8 blocks from home.  Some times I walked & some times Mother drove me, but at the entrance nobody was allowed in... until I showed my "pass".   What a state of disaster, a huge truck hanging in a tree,  3 large ferris wheels twisted together & all those canvas awnings of a mile long carnival ground was spread everywhere.   I ran the information booth so didn't get much time to look around & didn't have a camera so only vivid memories imprinted in my mind.  I don't remember if anyone was killed but do know the awning company said they would NOT come back again as it was several years in a row that their big tents were destroyed.  Google will know.

An additional 40 acres are purchased, bringing the Fair’s total acreage to 276.  (1946)  At one time we bragged that MO State Fair was 2nd largest (TX held the top honor).  This was my playground after WWII was over.  A friend's family kept a horse stabled there except during Fair time.  We were out there all summer, especially the week before the fair when horses were brought in early for the shows, for the races (Grand Circit Harness) ... 10 days of horse shows, including those enormous Budweiser Clydesdales.  We got to pet them & visit with the trainers, as well as the trainers & stable hands of the "best of the best" stables from all over the US.   What lucky kids we were.   Hopefully any Friend that isn't interested in my rambling will just pass on by, been one of those days with no one to talk to except in here & my mouth is on over load. 

Sweet dreams to all.  Cats to tend to.  Mama Callie (cat) didn't come home last night or all day, so I turned off her heated bed in the garage.   :'(

This feels like two days rolled into one. I am exhausted. Not only did I have a blood test at home, I also had an EKG while lying on my own bed, then a chest xray, while sitting in my own chair at home. I can't believe the wonderful service they give us. In between times, I play an hours worth of Musical Bingo, and an hours worth of chair exercises, and had a good lunch downstairs.

Then I got very frustrated, because our onsite computer guru tried to get me re=connected to Jacqui Lawson cards and had the same bad luck I have had.

And more frustration in trying to post a picture here and just messed it all up and can't get rid of what was posted that I didn't want posted.

I am SO thankful for all the good stuff I experienced today, but I must say Good Night dear hearts, and get this weary body into bed. I will thank God for all of you, and all of His Goodness, and ask his forgiveness for my frustrations. Good night dear hearts. Keep well and happy. June

You may find this hard to believe, but just about everyone has a scar somewhere on their body. And with every scar there is a story to go with it.

I learned this lesson at a gathering where most of the people did not know one another very well and appeared to have little in common. As you might expect, there was a lot of small talk as each person more or less kept to themselves. Then the hostess introduced an 'Ice Breaker' - a question meant to jump-start the conversation by getting everyone to participate. Each person was asked to share their personal "scar story" - a story about how they got a scar.

As we went around the room everyone shared their particular story; some were funny, some very serious. But with each story we learned more about the person. It became obvious that everyone had more in common than was first thought and the walls that had once separated us began to disappear, bringing us closer together as a group.

As I was remembering that meeting I was reminded of my own scars. I have three: one on my foot caused when running barefoot in a field as a child; one on my forehead from a college prank - it becomes more noticeable each year as my hair becomes less noticeable; and one on my hand, caused in a moment of anger just a few years ago...

For every scar there is also the memory of the pain that went with it.

I was trying to imagine what it would be like if Jesus shared about His scars. About how He was mocked and beaten. About how He suffered the cruelest form of death by being nailed to a cross. About how He lived a sinless life yet would bear your sins and mine. About how He knew since the beginning of time those events would take place, yet He came, willingly, to take our place - paying a debt He didn't owe because we owed a debt we couldn't pay - removing the sin that separates us from God.

One day we will see Jesus face to face. We will see His scars and know the truth from Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (NIV)

For you and for me.

Here Sirens are tested twice a year when we have the memorial day for the holocaust victims, and then for memorial day of the fallen soldiers, just before Independence Day.  That is more than enough, unless there is a sudden terrorist alert of course.  It always give me the chills when I hear it.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I hope you are all having a great day and that it continues to be so.  I haven't figured out what I'll be up to today but the fact that you could write your name almost anywhere in my house on whatever piece of furniture you choose, tells me that I might have to wear a dust cloth on my hand...maybe on both hands.  And, as usual, the kitchen floor needs a good mopping.  Is that enough to keep an old lady busy?

is tough being old and thick headed. I am in the progruss of building my green house.
I have the flour leaveld and the foundation concreat stones in place. today I am going to build a few
raised beds,and fill them with some good back to earith soil. and set out some plants. and sew some seeds

It is so nice to see everybody slowly returning.  Seems like the site is almost back to normal with lots of familiar names. 

It is a cloudy, windy morning here in Central Maryland with rain expected.  Although, the temperature is supposed to be close to 80 º.  And, then a chillier weekend.

Need to get myself movin'.

it is 30' x 60' when finished plan on growing any and all things in it that god will help me with.
tomatoes all year long + all veggies. / herbs . I even have a avocado tree about 2' tall . I am building all raised beds this old Man can't get down and up off of the ground. I am going to try my hand at hydroponics. some lettuce both in soil and hydroponics see which tastes best. I need to get out of here and get to work. But it is so fun doing S&F again. I forgot to tell you that the soil I have for the raised beds it( mothers nature help) I piled a few years ago
up a big pile of where i fed hay the cows , what they did not eat and the manure ans some soil.I guse you call it compost. Mother dose good work,it is very black and fine in texture. should do a good job,no chemiceals. spell ck is not working and wifewent to shower so you have waht you get. (guse)

Welcome home Lloyd.  Sound like you are making good progress on the hot house.  That soil ought to grown anything, sound like it is rich as ..........

Well I heard thunder during the night and when I got up this morning is was windy and cold, guess the front made it.  But it is dry. And I suspect most of the moisture we got the last few days is gone with that cold dry wind.

Now I am going to get some coffee and join you all on the patio.  With a heavy coat on.

Never did get an answer from Jackie, but her email didn't come back.

YAY!  Lloyd found us!

Kelly, the problem with Jackie is that she has moved at just about the time we went down.  We're all thinking that she might have a different server so she isn't getting our emails.  What I'm hoping is that she has someone's email and will send a note asking what happened and then we will be in touch. 

I've finished my second cup of coffee and I guess I better find my way to the bedroom and get dressed before I get caught in my jammies.  It's kind of a dreary day here.  It's raining and dark.  Not at all the type of day that makes one want to wake up.  Oh well.  Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny.

Hi everyone on a very rainy and stormy Friday morning in our area of South Carolina.  April showers aren't wasting any time getting started. We have had some heavy rains and one lightning strike that sounded like it was in our neighborhood.  We are to have periods of rain throughout the day and night.  Nothing particular on my calendar for today other than to pay bills as this is the first of the month.  I think this will be a good day to stay home. 

Sandy, I agree we can all use a helping hand here from time to time.  Yesterday I really appreciated Bubble sharing how to insert our avatars as I had forgotten.  I know we all try to help each other when we can. 

Callie, new appliances are always nice but seems each comes with a new learning curve involved.  What brand did you buy?

MaryTX, I sure wish we had tornado sirens here although we live out so far from the main town area it probably wouldn't cover us anyway.  Fortunately with smart phones we do get weather warning to stay alert.  Our area is under a possible tornado advisory for several hours today. 

Jenny, do you find the tunes playing on the washer and dryer annoying?  I know I do in addition to the buzzer on our dryer and the beeping of the microwave.  However, not the most important thing in my life. 

Joan, your last Chuckle for today really gave me a laugh.

Callie I too had to buy a new washing machine last week.  Mine of over 3o years  rusted through and made a flood on its last use.  Now I have a whirlpool.  It made such a racket  when I first used it that I was afraid the upstairs neighbor would come and complain.  I have since put it on a piece of carpet and it is much quieter like that.

Good Morning dear ones, I have been up since four a.m. and getting sleepy now. This will be one strange day for sure. Some good came from my early rising though. I was able to reconnect with my card program, and get my new email address installed. I had just about given up and tell them to cancel my subscription when Voila......all is well.

My stomach is calling for a nice raised doughnut residing in my kitchenette, so I will oblige and go back to bed and restart my day with perhaps a short nap It is not yet 7 a.m.

Jenny guessed the brand of my new washer/dryer -  LG  - based on my comment that the dryer plays a melody when it's done.   It's the same brand as I had but the former dryer did a "yoo hoo".

Bubble,  here in Tornado Alley, the sirens are tested every Saturday at noon all year round - unless we're under a Severe Weather/Tornado watch.   The Oklahoma City metro area is very large  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_metropolitan_area (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_metropolitan_area)  and the storm sirens are set to go off only in the area(s) that are directly threatened.

Good morning everyone, watch out for the tricks today. It is April Fools day so be careful. It is raining here but that is better than the 18 inch blizzard we had on this day several years ago.

KELLY  you have shared quite a bit about your IOM, even some of the language. I had saved them on my old PC but they are gone now.  I like saying hello or good night to you in your language, not that I could say them. I remember the times you gave us links to your beautiful country.

MARY ANN  at one time we lived around the corner from a fire station. At that time al the fire stations would blow their whistles at 7 pm. It really was loud.  I can imagine the sound of a tornado siren and it would last longer than the short one of the fire stations.

SHIRLEY  you know I enjoy your long messages. I do get carried away at time, too, and feel I wrote a book. Thanks, I was happy at that wedding. I had to hunt up something to use, could not find the one I had before. I would not recognize you with long hair. I did copy your old avatar and can send it to you. That Missouri discussion was a lo.t of fun. With Bunnie leading it we never knew what would we would see there every day. Like Martex and her “trips”. You have great memories of that Fair.

JUNE  at one time I had a problem with JL cards, too. I finally got in touch with them and got it straightened out. They do have a place that says CONTACT US.

June, I won't try to give instructions for Jacquie Lawson, however, I do have her site in my Bookmarks.

Bubble, yes, they test our tornado siren every month.  It only last a minute or so and isn't that bad, however, the siren is just up and across the road so when it is aimed in our direction, it is loud. 

Today is to be nice, but there is snow in the forecast for Saturday and I see it is in the forecast for next Friday and Saturday.  Is there no end???

It's good to see that Lloyd finally made it here.

Bubble, with your new washer, is it level?  It should not make a bad noise while merely washing.

Gloria, I sometimes have Tom go to the store without me but his tastes are different than mine.  He likes salsa and chili and such and I do not.  If I want something special and I don't go to the store, I tell Tom about it and he does a good job of getting what I want.  Sometimes I just don't have the energy to walk around the store and I haven't driven the go-carts yet.

Larry--When  I lived in Arkansas, the tornado sirens got tested every Sat. at noon.  Here I have all these devices to alert me of bad weather.  I have a weather radio, and apps on my iPad and iPhone.

Good morning....

Jane, I think your house and mine must be twins :)  This is the dustiest house I think I have ever lived in!  We're in town with paved roads so don't know where its all coming from.  We didn't have this much dust when we lived in the country on a gravel section line road :).  Since it's cold, windy and drizzly out and I have two new books from the library, think I will just hunker down with my coffee and a good book and put on my blinders as far as the dust goes :).

Kelly, Jackie moved 152 miles to the southwest part of the country from the southeast.  She sent me a picture of her house which is really nice and in the distance you can see the sea. 

Our tornado sirens are tested monthly on the first Wednesday of every month at 1PM.  Each town has its own siren system.   I have a NOAA weather radio that goes off when there are severe storms and the TV channel going, so the dogs and I close ourselves in my bedroom and the bathroom if it's necessary.  I really miss our underground storm cellars we had in Oklahoma but they don't have them down here.  Someday tho when I win the lottery, I am going to get an above ground safe room built in the corner of the garage :). 

Callie, my washer/dryer are LG also :).  So is my refrigerator.  One thing that is neat about it is if the door isn't totally shut, it beeps to let you know.  Wish my upright freezer would do that.  One time the door on it didn't close properly and we lost everything in a full freezer.

I finally got my Jacquie Lawson card deal worked out. And I am thankful. They gave me a page to re-register which I did so all is well.

I am feeling the results of being up since four o'clock this morning, so as soon as lunch is being served I will eat and come home and sleep.

Now if I could learn how to post a picture I will be content. Oldiesman made it sound so simple, but not for me. I thought I could just drag a picture from my desk top to the gallery. No such luck. It just prints out some words and letters that are not acceptable. Then it posted a picture that I did not want posted and it would not edit out, no matter how I try to delete it. Woe is me.

MARY ANN, it is good that Tom can and does get pretty much everything that you need at the store, but you should try the electric cart when you do go as it will allow you a bit more time to get around and see if there is anything lose you would like. 

GLORIA, I do like your avatar....glad things are going well in your part of the world.  We have sunshine today and are to continue to have nice weather for several days now.  I love my sunshine, so it makes me a happy camper.

The machine stopped vibrating now that it is on its carpet, or maybe it needed do that the first load?  Anyway I am quite happy with it.

I do have a new problem: a neighbor came to tell me my outside wall was leaking badly.  When I looked out the window ( the flat is on pillars) I could see it on two corners of the terrace.  The inside floor  was not wet nor the wall.  A puzzle.  I figured it might be a pipe from the above floor but no one answered the door there. It is Shabbat and no plumber available.  It will have to wait. 
On the last look, water is starting to seep from the floor tiles.  Joy in perspective if these need to be opened or the wall tiles extracted.  I'll let you know.

Well, we are back home and tuckered. What an eventful day we had,we left early and on the road at 7.00am . We went down the road to pick up our friend and it had not one but TWO wash outs!! I bumped through the first one...shaking the "compost" out of us  :2funny: but stopped for the next one as it was bigger! A highway truck thankfully came in behind us and if I got stuck knew he would be able to help us out. My friend meet us at the wash out and off we went to the sale. What a great time we had and now we have all added to the insulation to our homes with the fabric we bought. On reaching the washed out road we found they had dumped two loads of sand but had yet to flatten it...we did mange to get through and one the way back out they had been and dozed it flat.
I don't know about the others but after a no sleep last night I am ready to check out the back of my eyelids....in a nap.

June, right under your photo in the gallery were choices for [UnApprove] [Edit] [Delete].  I clicked on Delete, a screen asked if I was sure and I clicked Delete again, and it was gone.  That's all you would need to do if you make a mistake in the future.   :thumbup:

Joy, does all that work if I don't have a picture of me on my computer?  I don't think so.  I'm here alone, with no one to take a picture and whenever we are in a group, everyone else is taking pictures and if I'm in any of them, they are not on my computer.  So I guess all the instructions in the world won't help me.  You really need to have a picture to begin with.

Gotta go feed the doggies and get myself some supper.  See ya later alligator!

Jane, have one of your kids take a picture of you with their camera and/or smartphone and email it to you.  You can download it to your computer and go from there. 

I tried taking a "selfie" but my arms aren't long enough to get it right :).  I'm camera shy and hate having my picture taken anyway.  I think the last picture I had taken was last May when you and Courtney came down and we had lunch.

I will have to get Cathie to take one.

Jane,  there is a line that says  CHOOSE AVATAR FROM GALLERY   or  UPLOAD AN ADVATAR .    I was able to browse my pictures in my picture file and could upload a picture from there.   If you don't have a place where you can store your photos, then, I don't know what else to do. I think someone, maybe it was Oldiesman, who wrote that you can't add pictures from Photobucket.   I didn't even try that.  I don't have any pictures in the gallery. Never did  .

You don't have a place where you have pictures stored? 

I am sorry that I can't offer any other help.   There must be some other way to do it.

standing in front of a mirror, 
with good light,
and snapping a digital picture
that can be downloaded to my
computer then up loaded directly
into my SeniorNet profile.

When snapping the picture I aim
the camera at the mirror, but hold
the camera down so the picture
doesn't include the camera.     
A head shot can easily be cropped
out of these pictures taken by me
looking in the mirror.   

Sometimes I have to take quite a
few to get   a shot that is good for
cropping and displaying.   

After practicing a while,  it gets very
easy.  And some of them are even
complementary ..      (giggle)

Joy, I have lots of pictures on my computer.  Unfortunately, none of them are of me.  I really think I have to have a picture of me.

Sandy, I've never been accused of taking GOOD pictures and what you are suggesting in the mirror horrifies me.  The only mirror that has good light is in the bathroom and I'm not good at editing.  If it isn't good to begin with, I'm a total dunce. 

I guess you'll all just have to imagine how I look.  Of course, I have a daughter and a granddaughter who can do anything so if you can hold your breath until I go to Texas in May, they might be able to help me get a picture on this contraption.  That's if I remember to ask them!

Janie, I love my iMac. It has a photo booth where I can take a picture and put it on my desktop, or send it via email…at least I could before unless I have fouled it up.

Another problem. I am getting dozens of emails from Mail Delivery subsystem…whatever that is with all kinds of strange addresses, saying delivery system failed. I haven't the slightest idea what that is all about. I have emailed samples to my son, hopefully he will have a solution.

Often when you send mail and there is something wrong with the address, or the recipient's mail box is full, the mail system sends a failure notice back to the originator, often several times. I suspect this is what happened to you.

Here it has been a wet winter but still the Sea of Galilee is a meter lower than the normal should be level.   I can tell you that is a lot of water.  It is also our main source of drinking water, with the Jordan.  Of course there is desalination too.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We (the doggies and I) slept in again today!  It's really going to be hard to go back to work!

Lloyd, I haven't had the head knocks that you have either but when they all talk about posting pictures, I wonder why they have to do it in Greek.  I never did learn to speak, read or understand Greek.

Maybe I'm just in a state of denial!  Or maybe I don't want to put that much effort into using my eyes for an extended period.  After about 10 minutes on the computer I have to go do something else to rest my eyes.  And I know what they are telling me to do will take more than 10 minutes. 

I hope you all have a lovely day and that those of you who need rain, get it and those of you who don't need rain, don't get it.  We are supposed to have s**w on Monday and my friend an I are planning a trip to the movies and lunch.  I really want to see that new Sally Field movie.  I hope "they" are wrong about the s**w!

Joan, thanks for the breakfast this rainy Saturday morning.  I had to put the A/C on for a little while last night as it was kind of stuffy inside. It had gone up to almost 80 º yesterday.  Now, they are talking about snow tomorrow morning. 

Nothing very exciting going on today.  Think I might try and get some laundry done, as it is starting to build up.  Since I live in an senior apartment complex, I don't have my own washer and dryer.  Takes me longer to get it done when I just can't gather it up every couple days and do it in my own place. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers in our laundry room.  I like to wait until later in the day, because most people get theirs finished early . That way, I usually don't have to wait  for the machines and I have the laundry room to myself.  Just takes me longer to get things done now.  Not one of my favorite chores. 

And, Joan, when you have to have clean clothes, I hope that doesn't count for demerits.  LOL

I have been up since before it got light out, so I feel a little nap coming on before I get on with my day. It is so dreary out, that it makes for a sleepy day.

The setting must have been changed because I did manage to delete before and now that options does not appear anymore.  Maybe a glitch?

I am very lucky now: my caregiver from Ceylon is  doing a wonderful cleaning job these days, in preparation of Passover.   It is a relief not having to do it any more. He only has some difficulty in folding the washing lol.

Hi everyone.  It is a cloudy morning and we had a little rain a hour or so ago.  Yesterday we ended up with a little over 4 1/2 inches of rain in about 24 hours.  Needless to say things are a bit soggy here.  It is to get up to only 70 this afternoon and we are to see the sun.  We just stayed in all day yesterday.  Not much on the agenda for today.  I do need to make a quick trip to Walmart to replenish the breakfast drink I have each day.  I am looking forward to watching the two games of the NCAA Final Four that will be on this evening.

Mary Ann, I know we are missing Molly's postings.  I have her email address so just sent her an email with the links to the two discussions that I know she posts on often and telling her she would have to re-register. 

Bubble, sure hope you will be able to get someone to look at that water problem today as water can do so much damage so quickly. 

Amy, your road trip with the washouts sure brings back some memories of my childhood as we lived in the country and for many of those years we just had a dirt road with two or three areas that would wash out and in winter we had to deal with bad ruts in the road. 

Lloyd, glad you could get some R&R yesterday.  I see the spell checking is once again working as things get back in order here. 

JaneS, Pat watches a lot of programs on the two Hallmark channel and they are only available in the more expensive Dish packages.  I sure wish we could select the channel we want and not have to pay for so many that we never use.

Phyllis, I also was able to post a new picture in the Gallery but it posted sideways so wanted to delete it and could not find anyway to do so.  There must be some more setting the Administrators will need to do in order to give us that ability or I am just missing something.

Good morning from Grand Rapids.  My thermometer reads 35 degrees right now and from the Weather Channel, we are to have snow today.  If that is true, it would be this evening as things will warm up a bit during the day.  Actually, the sun is shining and it looks like the start of a nice day.

I finally finished my income taxes, sent them in by e-file and I've had word that both were accepted.  Now I can get on to other things, but I don't know what those will be.  I have showered and washed my hair and now I am waiting for my body and hair to dry.  I'll try to be dressed by 10 am.

I tried to put a weather thing after my name and got a link to a very complete weather info for my area.  It was easy enough to put it in, but I cannot delete it.  I'd like to substitute the link for Grand Haven.  I'll continue to work on it.

LarryHanna - yes, I am afraid of further damage and that is why I closed the main since last night.  I have a big saucepan full of water and full pails in both bathrooms for what is needed.  It is a bit primitive but at least it stopped leaking until I can get hold of the plumber tomorrow.  Shabbat is sacrosanct here and unless one is ready to pay a fortune, no one  is available.

Good morning.....

The sun is shining, the sky is a brilliant blue and it's 46°.  It should get up to 71° later today and low to mid 80s next week.  My kind of weather ;D.

On my way to the grocery store for my main shopping trip of the month.  I hate to shop and I'm exhausted when it's over, but it's easier for me to do the majority at once, and just have a couple of short trips the rest of the month. Cheaper too, I'm not tempted as much :).  My sister shops at least every other day, sometimes daily!  She reminds me of when I was a grocery cashier.  We had the same people come in first thing in the morning for breakfast items, noon for lunch items, and then late afternoon for supper items :).

I still haven't heard from Jackie.  Hope she made it thru the move okay.

MARY ANN snow in the forecast here tomorrow. Lke you I have not tried those ricing things some markets have. I would be afraid of hitting someone. It is impossible for me to walk around a store anymore. Cannot walk around in here without my rollator.

AMY we have what the weather people call an Alberta Clipper coming in over night. Since you don't live in Alberta I cannot blame you for sending it but you are a Canadian so PLEASE stop sending us snow.

KELLY  I had to do some of my own housework yesterday. My housekeeper called in sick.

JOY  I had my fan running all night and it was still too warm here. Could not open windows because the rain was hitting them. Did not want it coming in. AC's cannot go into the windows yet. There are 52 apartments in this Senior building and there are 4 washers and 4 dryers. Usually you can always find an empty one. BUT there are 2 people who wait till they really have a lot to launder and they will use all of them. Then a few have trouble sleeping so go down and do their laundry in the middle of the night.

KELLY  no buses to the Isle of Man? Gee I was going to look into a bus trip there.    :2funny:

BUBBLE  folding clothes, only problem I have is teaching the housekeeper how to fold sheets. I hate wrinkles in them. Not much storage here so everything has to be folded neat to fit into place.

LLOYD  you are so right. Nice to see the SS so busy once again.

LARRY  wow that does not look like the Larry I saw every day in here. Looking good my friend. I feel that way with Cox cable too. I am not interested in the different language channels, I am an American so expect my language on all of the channels in MY country. I am not interested in the sports channels yet have to pay for them.

MARY ANN  I have not even thought of or looked to find the weather thing yet.

BUBBLE  so often when something like the water leaking happens on week ends when no one is working or it will cost a mint to pay for.

HAL  warm here and raining, how about we exchange out weather?

BUBBLE  you mean that only 74 have found their way back to S&F?  Not near as many as before. Waiting for the card shop to start up. With only the 2 of us posting there maybe they will drop it?

Mary  Ann--I never could put that weather thingy in properly.  Guess I need help.  Yuck--snow.  At least you don't have to shovel.

Good morning, halkel.  My a/c has been running non-stop for several weeks.

MaryTX--Good morning.  I have paid a lady to grocery shop for me for quite some time.  Next week I am going to start using SHIPT--a service in conjunction with Publix grocery.  I have the app on my computer and iPad.  I can build a list all week and turn it in with one click when I am ready and the order is delivered within an hour.  There is no charge for delivery if you purchase at least $35.  It costs $100/year to belong.

Gloria--Good morning.  Glad Regina got safely back to San Diego.  I am happy when folks enjoy my daily "offerings".

I have been with S&F a very long time, and with the original Senior Net before that.  I was one of the first ones when that group first started.  A very long time ago. I spend a lot of time reading a lot of the boards, but don't always write anything.

Joan, do you remember when the original Senior Net first started?  I know it must be about 20 years, or more. I made friends with Sylvia and Bobbie right away on the Fibromyalgia board.  That was when they had a different board for different medical problems.   I don't have Fibro, but I had a friend who did, and I had read about the Senior Net group in an article in the Sunday paper.  It was just getting started at that time.  I went to the Fibro board to get some information for my friend, and Sylvia was so welcoming and encouraged me to keep coming back.  We became very good friends over the years.  Also with Bobbie and several others at the time.  I also posted in Boot's Tid Bits, which was so much fun.   I really didn't get into your discussion that often until the original site closed down and the new Senior and Friends started up.  Bobbie and I  talked about how long ago that the original Senior Net started and I have forgotten now.  That was when a lot of the different U.S. states had their own board.  Pat Howe and I started the one for Maryland.  We became friends through that board.  Had some really good times way back then.

Good afternoon, it is still warm, but been raining all morning.  I have been up since 3:30, as my DIL left to drive to Tenn. Of course I am mentally making the trip with her.  She arrived yest erday morning from Mass., by way of the Orient Ferry. which is and hour and ahalf ride, but it save time driving into the city, and then out here on LI.
  she took a new picture of me yesterday, but did not have luck putting it in here. I know I will never get the temp. right.

We are suppose to have snow to morrow and Monday. Yesterday got to 70.

Gloria, before Dennis was born I lived in and apartment across from a FD. Cyriel was on the Night shift, at Grumman.  So I would get up and watch all the fire engines leave.  I was told, if you live across from the FD, you will have a boy.   ;D

June, one time it took me nearly a month, to get strighten out with JL cards after, I had paid, they were telling me I had to call and office in England.

Glad to see you Sun and Lloyed.

I am really, tired, but I can not go back to bed in the middle of the day.  I have too many ringing my bed durning the day.  I still can not gett spell check to work, and I am one that needs it.

Joy--I don't remember when SN first started--but am sure Jeanne Lee or Pat do.  I started soon after it started.  I don't often see Sylvia post in S & F and I never have seen Bobbie post.  Occasionally I do see posts made by Boots on Facebook.

Joan,  Bobbie is not real well.  I talked to her a little over a week ago, and she said to say Hello to all her friends here.   And,  I do see Sylvia put things on Facebook.   We used to talk on the phone every so often, but haven't talked to her for a while. I really need to get in touch with her.  She went through a rough period after Al passed away, but from her posts on FB,  she seems to be doing better.  She still has health problems. She was a long-time poster in the BB forum and after Al passed away, she was having trouble getting back into the boards.  With all the changes now, I am sure she hasn't found her way here yet.  I will try to remember to get in touch and see if I can help her get back.

Tom and I went out to lunch today, a weekly (at least) treat for us.  Then neither of us has to drum up something for that meal.  The cat and I have napped, but he can nap at the drop of a hat. 

I can't say I have had any troubles after getting on, but I would like to delete what I have for weather.  It is very informative, but who else but me cares.  I want to get the Grand Haven/Lake Michigan link in but until I can delete the weather info, I can't put the link in.  I think others are more interested in Grand Haven, especially today, than my weather! 

We are having snow now and we can hardly see over the pond.  When I went after the mail, it was a misty snow and I think that is still true.  I was able to wear a sweater when I crossed the road, but when we went out to eat, I wore my winter coat!  I'll also wear my winter coat to church tomorrow.  Our temperature has gone from 35 degrees to 32 degrees since this morning.  And they tell me this is April!  Who'd have guessed it.

Looking at the radar, it looks as if the snow is missing Amy and I certainly hope so.  But she probably is getting some cold temperatures.

Late afternoon here and sunshine, 57º.  Hard to believe they are predicting snow for Monday. 

I'm thinking about what to prepare for supper.  Leaning toward spaghetti and meatballs.  The sauce and meatballs are all ready to go...just need to be heated up. 

June, I'm not disgusted with the process...just with me!  One day I'll either figure it out or I won't.  I'm resigned!

We had snow this morning and I thought it would put a damper on hanging out laundry but I waited and out the laundry went when it stopped snowing. Blew out nice and now it is back on the beds.Phoned daughter in love and told her that her bed is made up fresh for her next visit.

Larry, I wasn't paying close attention on the road and found the first wash out rough going over but you can bet I didn't go through the second one as it was huge!!!

Gloria,soon the ice on the lakes will be gone and the loons will be back home. I love listening to them at night. My son is going through Atlanta GA and wanted to let me know that the weather was beautiful...bless him  :smitten:

Jane that sounds like a good supper....garlic bread to go with it???

Miserable day here. If my AC was in I would have had it running. Too warm and humid with the rain today. After midnight the cold front will come in and weather guesser said we will get 3 to 5 inches of snow. This has been predicted all week and all the guessers said no shovels would be needed. Time will tell.

JOAN  great that you finally can get groceries delivered. The service here will not charge if you but $100 or more. Under that it costs $5.95. I order about every 5 or 6 weeks and it is easy to order more than that $100. I send my helper to the market most every Friday for milk and some fresh produce. Cannot order that for a month. Felt great talking for the usual hour+ today. She did get on Skype a couple of times with her iPhone and walked around inside the house they have and outside.  My SIL did a great job on the kitchen cabinets he built. He measured everything, bought the lumber in San Diego and made everything there. Brought it to Arizona and every thing fit perfect. Then my daughter painted them white with a semi gloss paint. Looks great. They met 2 new neighbors this trip. You know I have enjoyed your morning goodies for many years now. Since I found SN and your Busy Nest. That was a busy place, too. I still have the collage Bunnie did of those who posted, there. 21 of us who posted every day. You, June, Jenny and me are the only ones from there.

JOY  those state boards back in SN were a lot of fun. I checked out all the different topics and discovered the PSP one and became fascinated, To think people could do those beautiful creations and animations on their home computers. I was still very new to the computer then. Bunnie talked me into trying the PSP and I thought no way. But between her and Joan I was encouraged to keep trying. I am not an artistic person so was surprised how much I enjoyed it.

GLORIA de  we had rain all day. Stopped a little while around 5pm but raining again. Ready for that snow? I am ready for some spring weather, not the wind and rain we have had for weeks now. When we lived around the corner from the fire department my 3 were already born. I think JL is getting too big and cannot keep track anymore. I had paid for 2 years and was credited for 1. Lot of email back and forth at that time. If I didn't love her cards I would just drop it.

BUBBLE  I have more tuts saved that I want to do and cannot get them to open. Started about a week ago. I think I will call HP and have them send a tech here to find out why. I did pay extra for that service so might as well get some use from it. I cannot get Windows Live mail installed either.  Everything comes in on my Incredimail or my gmail. I do have a few done. The Easter ones I did will wait till next year. I enjoy seeing you here in the SS.

CHIA  everyone in S&F is very helpful when someone is stuck. Ready for that white stuff tomorrow?

JEANNE  thank you, now Bubble and I can play again. It will take more than the 2 of us to fill it up.  You remember how to use PSP? Been a long time since you did anything there. Wish we could interest others in to trying it. Would not want to try the new versions though. Older ones are better.

AMY  I sure would not want to be driving now with all roads beat up by the winter. Just locally the roads have patches on top of patches.  Oh boy, let me know when you start picking the rhubarb. I would like enough to make a pie or even a crisp.

Good Saturday evening toEVERYFRIEND.

This day just flew by for me.  Our youngest son is in town from Austin, TX to attend the funeral of his wife's grandmother.  He was only able to be here for a short time, but we did enjoy his visit....always do. 

Thank you, Joan, for the goodies today....ðŸ'œ Anything blueberry!  I liked the quote from Jane Goodall.  While Brian was here this morning we were talking about how terrible our animals that we eat are treated, i.e. conditions they are raised in...hormones, etc.  My, we have sure taken on some might scary things and then wonder why we have so many with cancer.

It is a beautiful day here...nearly 70* and not a cloud in the beautiful blue sky.  We are to have nice weather now for several days....sure hope it is true. 

Love many of the nice new avatars.....the Baby Phyllis....yours Hal, Larry, Gloria and all I have neglected to mention.  Good luck to all who are trying to get a picture posted.

BUBBLE, I am enjoying your frequent posts and hope that you will continue to join in here.  Concerned for you about the water leak, but realize you are doing your best to keep it from doing any more damage than possible.   I was chuckling a bit ago when reading your post and you saying, "The Sea of Galilee, and the Jordan".  These are names that I associate with from books, not everyday conversation. I feel so blessed to be able to communicate with others from distant lands. 

LARRY, I agree with you that it sure would be nice if we could only pay for the channels that we want to watch.  We get so many channels that I will never watch....sometimes half the show is over by the time I scan through to figure out what I want to watch. 

I am enjoying the spaghetti and meat balls, JANE, and hope you all found the peach cobbler that I brought to share and put in the hidy hole. 

Sorry, CALLIE.  I just heard that Villanova beat your Sooners.  I was pulling for OK.

GLORIA, nice to read about the cabinets you sil made and how nice they looked after Regina painted them.  I am sorry the humidity is bothering you so much.  What a shame your complex did not install a/c also.  I suppose there is a time period that you can have the window a/c unit installed?  As strict as they are there you may not be able to install it until June....hope not.

Time for me to shut some windows before the sun goes down...SO PLEASANT DREAMS TO ALL.

So glad to see you all posting …good to be back in touch with friends.   It’s like beig lost, when you can’t get in touch.
I’ m having bad problems with one hand and the other is  starting to act up, so I may not say a lot, but I am reading and catching up on the news.  I missed you all.

I have a   Doctor’s appointment on Monday a week from next Monday., a  long time to wait.   Meanwhile, I ‘m looking in.

I can hardly use  one hand at all.  I only assume it is Artritus, I don’t know for sure.

Guess someone will have to tell me how to get photo from desktop  to S&F,,,no luck on my own.   HELP
