Hi Everyone. We are to have another 76 degree day here with only a small chance of rain late this afternoon.  Pat and were able to get our second and final Shingles shots yesterday afternoon.  They were very busy so we had to wait quite awhile but we wanted to get that over.  We then drove downtown and enjoyed a Chinese Buffet.  I have a friend who will be here to work with me and tonight is Wednesday night dinner at the Church and the opportunity to spend time with Scott.  It is the popular Taco night with the ice cream bar to follow.

Shirley, I have tried to think of everything I could to make the situation easier for my family on my demise.  Annually I update the information on bank accounts and other matters like passwords.  I also try to go through the documentation I have kept for the previous year and discard what I don't think will be needed.  Just this month I have taken the actions to consolidate our bank accounts from two credit unions to the one close to where we live.  I have never been able to understand why people want to bury their heads in the sand and not find out what is causing medical situations.  Please don't send that freezing drizzle our way.  I think I heard that in Kansas the unemployment rate is not 2%.  I don't ever remember hearing the rate being that low as usually 4% is considered full employment.  Like you I have lived long enough to have to cash in the savings bonds I purchased over the years and am now having to pay income taxes on the untaxed interest.

Jane, I haven't had to pay school taxes in either Georgia or South Carolina.  I know it was because I was permanently handicapped and income level.  Every governmental level will always need more money as enough is never enough.

Don, great to see  your very interesting posting.  I bet your life story will be very interesting.  Nice to read your are financially settled and won't have to worry about running out of money to pay for your lodgings.  It sounds like you live in a very fine place with a very attentive staff.

June, it is a great idea to post your DNR by your door.  I hope you got all your papers signed last night.  If I recall Stacey indicated there were quite a few of them.

Lloyd, it sounds like you have the equipment to help you with the chores.  My years on the farm were before they had the balers that made those big bales and there was a lot of back work required in the harvest and then when it came time to feed the cattle during the winter months.

Amy, I guess any excuse to shop in the mall will do.  :)

Lloyd Hammond

Larry not that it is easy I have worked hard to get where am with tools and equipment. i started out @ six years old, after my dad was murdered. mowing yards delivering papers and groceries to the older people in a small town of less than two hundred people. at seven years of age took on a job in a blacksmith shop cranking the hand blower to the forge. so the blacksmith could work two plow shares at the same time. at 7-8 years of age was welding points on plow shares and toe bar on work horse shoes and making horse shoes from bar stock. we are @ 25º and on and off again from lit rain and sleet or snow on the ice we already have. i don't have any ice skates any more, so wont be getting hurt that way. i can drive the 4 wheeler in to the shop next to the tractor get of of and on the other. go get a bale of hay on the un roller and stop with the frontend loader up in the air and dismount from the tractorholding on to it and open the gate.it swings clear so i can get back on the tractor back up and turn in to the lot where i feed. get off and cut the twine off role it up and get back on tractor and un role it.if it roles good,if not I drop it and turn around and un role it with the front end loader. have a good day everyone,

Lloyd

Gloria

Good morning, boy did I get  a good sleep last night, woke at 9:30 and now having my first cup of coffee here in the SS. Hope I get to finish before my CNA gets here. Sun is shining and the sky a beautiful blue and 35°. Cold and rain/snow in the forecast for tomorrow. At least we had a break with a few warm sunny days in mid winter.

LLOYD  you make me wish I could order one of your fabulous recipe boxes. They sound beautiful. Something my daughter would treasure.

JANE  the last few days sure made us appreciate the winter break from the cold and snow/ice.

AMY  if the look, texture and taste seems good to ‎l at least try something new but if I don't like any of those I will not eat it.

MARY ANN  what  Gloria were you talking to?

LARRY  Peapod here is with Stop & Shop markets. The service is supposed to be nationwide. I know it is convenient for me.

SHIRLEY  I am with you on everything you said.

JANE  what burns me  is the illegals coming into our country get so much handed to them that we have worked all our lives for. I have been getting that  phone call about the warranty too. Let the machine get it and then just delete it. Yesterday I got a letter about the same thing and I laughed. My car went to the junk yard 10 years ago.

DON  so good  to see your post. That new lady who wants you to write a book, was she ever a member here? I think all of us here would love to read it. We have enjoyed your music and posts for a long time and miss you.

JUNE  here we have a plastic envelope with magnet on  one side of the fridge with our information on it.

SHIRLEY  this is supposed to be the last nice day because bad weather returns over night. I think most of us here have had cataract surgery, no big deal, only takes a few minutes and you might need glasses or not. I still need them but many never do and colors are brighter, you as an artist should like that.

Gloria Z, that message was for you.  I didn't go back further (it was far enough back to find my own message) to find what you said.  If you write your wishes and let your family know them (in writing), it can prevent some hard feelings, not that there would be any with your family.

To me, you are Gloria, and when I address the other Gloria, she is Gloria de.  I can always add a Z for you.

June, we were told to hang everything on the refrigerator including drug list, DNR(mine says State  of NY non hospital)another one has to be signed in the hospital also I have medical order of life sustaining treatment. I was told I would have to sign again in the hospital  NY state law.  That is where the police look, when they come in.

Good afternoon.  Got busy this morning and forgot about coming in here.

Good thoughts go out to June.  She is a special lady and I admire her for her way of handling her life.  Hope she will have many more years with us.

Jane, do hope your eyes have cleared up by now and you are having a good day.

Nothing much happening around my little piece of the world. Kind of a dreary day after a sunny morning. And, it is starting to get cold again.

I have not had any lunch yet, and I see it is almost getting around to dinner time.  So, I probably will grab a little snack to hold me off until dinnertime.

I did play cards last night and as usual, we did not win. I just keep telling my partner that it is only a game.  There was another group playing cards last night.  It was nice to see some new faces enjoying their selves. Plus another group who were making up Valentine decorations. Have not seen that much activity in the lounge for a good while.  The activity gal is trying very hard to get more people interested in doing some of the activities.

I just wanted to say "HI !, so I will quietly get on with my day.

Have a enjoyable evening.

Good afternoon, Everyfriend,

Oklahoma weather!!!  ::)  Possible tornadoes in the southeast part and freezing temps in the northwest/northern part.  OKC area is on the border line of this front that keeps moving back and forth so we're completely fogged in and could go either way.

I have magnetized folder on the side of the fridge with health info in it - but had not thought about putting a copy of the DNR in there.  Thanks for the suggestion, Gloria de!

Jenny,  I am praying that you and your family will be granted strength, courage and peace with the various issues happening to loved ones.

June, my dear friend....you are a courageous lady and I'm sure you will remain so under the change in your circumstances.

Janie, gentle hugs about your vision issues.  My opthomologist is keeping an eye on (sorry - bad pun...shame on you, Callie :noway: ) pressure because I'm "heir" to glaucoma.

Shirley,  have you noticed a yellow tinge to everything?  That's one sign cataracts are "ripe" for removal. After the first one was done, I couldn't believe the difference between that one and the one that would be done a couple of weeks later.  I opted not to have lens correction because I'd worn glasses since 5th grade and was fine with keeping them.
BTW,  my opthomologist's patients get a big warm muffin and their choice of coffee, tea or juice during the wait time after the surgery.  You might suggest that to yours.  ;)

Don,  the idea of sharing your Life Story is an excellent one.  If you don't feel up to writing it down, may I suggest you record it in some way.  A plus for that method is that your voice will also be a part of the story.  I cherish taped conversations with my mother, Mother and her sister together, as well as one with my Dad's sister.  Will forever regret I didn't think of doing this while my Dad was still alive.
Super that your sons have set up the annuity for your rent payment. What a good idea!

Sure were a lot of things crossed out because of weather on the January calendar. Not much on the February page yet - but I hope what's there won't be the same.

 and  :hugs: to Everyfriend.

Callie, I knew I was moving into a senior park when we were told about keeping important papers on the refig. and had to keep the walk way clean  in case the ambulance had to come in. I was only 62  I found out when my husband was sick, I had the ambulance 5 times

What a mixed bag of weather we have had today. This morning there was a beautiful red/pink sky and we knew then what was to come. First snow, not much and then into the rain, after the rain came freezing drizzle.......then rain again. Tomorrow sounds like a replay of today only with high winds in the evening.

I managed to square up some blocks to be sewn , hope there is enough to make a quilt! Feels good to get back into the "mood" to quilt again. I have so many projects that need to be done. One a bear that I started and needs finishing but I think these other quilts will take precedence .

AMY, your red sky reminded me of the old saying...

Red sky in the morning
Sailors take warning!

Red sky at night
Sailors Delight!

It almost always proved true when we were camping with the Girl Scouts

CALLIE, thanks for the sympathic words about my eyes.  As long as the one continues to be good, I can manage.  But I thought there might be more to be done for the bad one.  Maybe, there will be research!  One can hope!

My daughter and granddaughter are here and they've gone to bed so that's where I'm headed, too.  Sleep well my friends and may God bless us, every one!

I've come to read, think, type a long post but didn't post, several times today.... trying not to get too opinionated about these taxes.  :coolsmiley:

Larry, you are like Cas was, trying to dot the iiiiis & cross the tttttts.... but in our case the money was not the same after he died, but the bills were. After all said & done I discovered that I manage just fine with my "in" come. I still pinch pennies & use coupons & buy gift cards to get the gas discounts, but I wanted to cash the I-bonds because they don't list beneficiaries & know it is easier for me to cash than it would be for the kids. Once the cash is in my hands the government doesn't need to know how I spend it, they got their share off the top. The CDs are all listed with Pay on Death... we each had wills made years ago by a good lawyer. My objection is I don't see the need for a "trust" when I have a will, but so far have not gotten a rational reason why trusts are so necessary. Every time I turn around someone is sure I will be leaving a mess without a trust, because "a will must go through probate". Still nobody can explain the difference. Heirs will have to make sure there's no outstanding bills before settling the estate... even with a trust that has to be done, only a lawyer will probably handle it instead of the executer of the will. I trust that my 3 kids can handle dividing the property, etc. I've spent a life time of doing everything ourselves & fur goes up to be told I gotta wear a blindfold at the end. I know I am being pig headed but am good at that.  :coolsmiley:

Callie, we do have some nasty weather & same for tomorrow. Lots of accidents today from freezing rain & fog. I have to get out tomorrow because the cats need their chicken... and I need a change of scenery. Hopefully the sun will come out to melt the streets, didn't happen today. Truthfully I can't believe my cataracts are that bad, no yellow tinge & only the distance blur has gotten closer. Used to be that glasses weren't needed "within a block", only far distance. Now I wear some old (weaker) ones around the house so no blur when looking out the windows. I have to take them off to read. I know I'm chicken.....that yellow tinge is running down my back.  :uglystupid2:

Now it's bedtime & I am ready, cats fed their midnight snack & all asleep, either laying on or in front of a furnace vent. Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.

You popped in, Janie, & hearing your eye news has me concerned for you & for me. So sorry your vision is worse, that absolutely scares me more than anything. I have not found a doctor that can "fit" my glasses like the one that retired 30 years ago. He nailed it right off and ever since I've not been able to see as well with what they prescribe. Good Heavens, I hear thunder, even lightning & hail or freezing rain so loud it woke cats up. I'm going to bed & pull the covers over my head.

posting late tonight.....better late than never I suppose.

Yesterday we spent time with Michele.  She looks wonderful and continues to be so thankful for the issue that made her know that something was wrong. She looks forward to seeing the oncologist on Friday to learn what his plan will be for her.  At times she gets anxious and her mind goes where she does not want it to be, but manages to talk herself into being thankful and very positive again.  Last night we attended a gathering put on by the local chamber of commerce last evening.  We signed up a month or so ago.  It was a very well organized discussion regarding finding yourself suddenly independent, either from death, divorce or the like.  We found that we are pretty organized and prepared in the event that this would happen to us.  It also included aging parents and what we should know in case of them becoming incapacitated.  It covered children or grandchildren that are underage and what their needs might be if the parents are taken out of their lives.  These are all sad thoughts to have to deal with, but we learned things that we did not know so we happy to get the insight from these professionals.

Bob's toe is much better today but I am having weakness in my right wrist that hurts pretty badly when I try to use it🤣🤣🤣. I can not pick anything up with it and have a brace on it.  It has taken me quite a bit of time to type this, so I guess I will give up for tonight.  It snowed all day and is really cold out there tonight.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

G'Morning all, I have not looked in for a while, so thought i'd stop by and say hello !, apart from our usual 'aches and pains' I hope everyone has survived the snow, thank goodness we only had a small amount ! and only a few days of below zero temperature, we are now looking forward to the spring !, all ready the first signs are showing in the more sheltered parts I just hope we all have a good spring and summer this year !  :),going off now for one of my 'Armchair Walks', after I have one more look around for Lloyd !,
                                           Cheerio.  Roley.

Good morning everyone...

Wow slept through the night! This little one is getting better each day. Will tidy up and throw an apple pie in to cook for supper tonight.

Good morning roley, good to "see"  you this morning. Enjoy your armchair walk.

Jenny, sorry to hear of your sore wrist. we use our hands so much in daily use that when one is sore it really puts a stop on our work.
Good to hear Michele has a positive attitude plus she has a great cheering team in all of you. Now to hear good news on your Dad.

Shirley, you have NO yellow tinge down your back. My goodness you tackle everything and anything in your life. Let's use the word apprehensive. :)

Larry, this is a huge mall compared to the little stores we have here and don't forget my eyes would be blurry for a bit. They also have a food court to grab a meal or a cuppa tea/coffee if wanted.

Jane, I have used that saying also in farming it was a guide on do I or do I not knock some hay down today? Have fun with your daughter and granddaughter!

Gloria, one food I couldn't enjoy was vegetable marrow. ewww. I like most everything else that I can eat.

Joy, sounds like you had a great time at cards. Winning is nice but fellowship is greater.

Lloyd, I would love to go skating but if something should happen  to me eg break a bone who would look after my husband? So no skating  :(

I had better get going. Prayers and hugs for all.

Everyone enjoy your day..

good Morning everyone. It is 24º here now the weather guesser is saying we will have sun today but still dark and clouded. well as the old saying goes if you do  not like the weather here weight a short while the changes may be in your fever. I turned the deck light on and looked out, Looks like we got some more sleet and a slight bit of snow on the Ice. Nancy has the TV on and the broadcaster is saying we are going to get more ice and or freezing rain  what is the (deference) ? I am going feed the cattle after a while and come in and crack and pick out some more black walnuts meats.yesterday I got a little over a cup picked out.too cold to work in the shop. I will take pictures of the boxes and get help to post them when the weather gets good enough to get grand daughter over to help me. I still have a picture of the Christmas cacti on the tool bar to show you all also.

Lloyd

Gloria

Good morning everyone, 32° just at the freezing point and it has been raining since about 8 last night. Could hear it hitting the windows. The cars look like they are moving right along on the road so hopefully the roads are not icy.

MARY ANN  it does get confusing having 2 Glorias here. Some just use the name with no difference. I know many use the de for Gloria on Long Island, mine has island but a Rhode before it. My family does all know my wishes and will do as I want. I do not want money spent on things when it is a waste to me.

GLORIA de  like you our information is on the side of the fridge and that is where they look after seeing the person in need of help. Every year they have a meeting here with the fire and police ‪ departments. They give us a new paper every year to update meds.

JOY  wish they would have more activities going on here. All they have is Bingo on Wednesday evening. I do not like bingo and never did.

AMY  at least it is not windy here and not below freezing. This is the coldest part of the state in the winter, we also get the most snow.

JANE  we take eyesight for granted when we are young but treasure it as we age. My Mother was going blind from her diabetes and that bothered her more than anything because she loved to read.

SHIRLEY  I never had a problem with glasses with my old eye doctor. After he sold his practice to retire the young ones that took over had all the machines that told them what I see. Never had a pair I could see right. Finally started going to a partner of the one I liked. He looked at a pair of my old ones I brought with me. Those machines had the line for the bifocals in the wrong place and cut into my vision. Now I get them the right way. So much for the modern machines. The one I have now has machines but he knows how to use his own eyes to see things first.

JENNY  so good that Michele has a good outlook. That is good.

AMY  there are some foods I just will not eat, like tripe on liver. Allergic to raw onions, too. Know nothing about vegetable marrow, never heard of it.

Have a god day.

our grange is a two car on the north end of the house. both doors were froze down the electric openers would not open them so I got a shovel an stuck it under them one at a time and pushed down it. that done the trick. I left the one behind the car up about a 1/4" and opened the one behind my 4 wheller up all the way so can ride it down to get tractor to feed cattle with, Have a great day,

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be a quick posting.  My girls have gone out to do an errand but I don't think it will take them very long.  If they come back, I'll just post and be gone.  We have so little time to spend together that I have come to cheish it.

SHIRLEY, I agree with AMY...no yellow streak down your back.  You'll try anything once...except maybe cataract surgery and that has nothing to do with bravery.  It's a decision we make.  For me, it was a good one because what I see is not shadowed any more.  And I already had the glaucoma starting before the cataracts.

JENNY, I continue to keep Michele in my prayers.  She is one special lady and as someone pointed out, she has a great cheering section in all of you!

GLORIA and GLORIA DE,  that's how I make the difference too.

I think I'll go take care of my toilette while the girls are gone.  I'll be able to get in whichever bathroom I want! Enjoy your day!

Lloyd, glad you mentioned the garage doors because mine also face north & will probably be frozen shut. I planned to get out today so will check before getting too excited about seeing the world!  The doors never see the sun the way the house sits so won't thaw out on their own. We had a thunderstorm with thunder & lightning about bedtime, the sleet was so loud it woke up the cats. TomCat is so afraid of storms he won't leave my side so had 2 of them on my bed until they woke me up a little after 4:00 am thinking it was time to eat. We ate & I went back to bed.... tried to post then but internet went off & lost the post.

News this morning says we are not improving today so schools all shut down. Lots of working parents had to change plans, always a problem. The sun is bright so after a shower & wash my hair I'll take on the streets if I can get the garage door open. The weather doesn't scare me but letting anyone mess with my body sure does, for true, Amy!  That's from a movie long ago, anyone remember "A Trip for Margaret" or a war movie with Bing Crosby & very young Margaret O'Brian? It was a real tear jerker, she could cry big tears on demand, reviews said. I just tried to find it with Google but no luck, internet is slow to almost not moving this morning. Guess I'd better see if this will post before typing more.

Quite a messy day for all people that work outside, wonder if we will get mail???  Shirley (yes, June, there were other shirleys when I started out but nobody using my mother's nickname, "Tisie".  Can you imagine getting that nickname in first grade by a teacher that had trouble pronouncing her real name, "Palagie".... that's pronounced "Pa-la-gigi", and stuck throughout her life.)

You snuck in, Janie, got to agree the yellow streak is letting anyone mess with me, I am still daredevil enough to tackle  Mother Nature's tricks. I need to find out more about cataract surgery, Cas had a bad experience so I really am chicken.

Mary Ann

Reading today's posts, there are several places I could reply or comment, so I won't and I'll spare everyone a new book.

We are having another icy morning.  Tom was going to sub teach at a school in Cedar Springs but so many schools are closed today, including where he was to teach.  I stay inside on days like this.  If I break something, it will be inside the house, not out on the sidewalk or street.

Good Morning Everyone,  from the cloudy,
cool, and windy,   but not icy cold,
rocky coast of Maine.

Just a note to say that all is well here
in my world,  and to remember all of the
brave people that we have here in
Seniors and Friends.   Many who
are suffering more then they let on,
but seem to be taking each day, one day
at a time,  and blessed for the good days,
hours, moments that we do have
as we pass through this life.

I try to be always grateful for the Good Times.

Still waiting for the Sunshine and trying to
remember that this is still only
February...  and we have a lot of Winter
left here in New England.

Smile...   ;D

We did have a bit of freezing rain, not a lot but enough to cancel the school buses. Neighbour wanted to do some repairs on his skidoo in the garage so hubby put a fire on out there for him. He brought Rex over and Rex and the pup had a great play! He stayed for lunch of beef barley soup.I did make an apple pie but too hot to cut but he will be back tomorrow and can have some. While Rex was here I cut his nails for him.

Maybe tomorrow quilting will be done. The pup sure takes a lot of time and energy out of one. His paws are so big I can't imagine the size he will be full grown. A surprise in the waiting I guess.

Shirley, I totally understand about the body, due to a drunk for a dentist I have a fear of them. My dentist knows ,you put me higher than a kite or you don't get in my mouth.........and he does :)  My eyes are also another one. One time I was cutting wood with my chain saw and I got a wood chip in my eye. My neighbour happened to come for a visit that evening and said for me to put a flax seed in my eye and all would be well come morning. There was no way I was putting a flax seed in my eye, it felt like I had a tree in there and no way was I starting a seed garden. I guess we all have our druthers and I druther they didn't touch either place!.

Hi Everyone.  I have had a nice afternoon rest and now comfortably situated in my easy chair.  My doctor this morning basically told me I need to cut back on the few things I am able to do in terms of getting out and about.  She told me to stay home for a few weeks.  I guess I am sicker than I realized.  My main regret is I am going to have to miss Sunday School and Church and the Wednesday night dinners at Church.  I have made a decision that if and when I feel up to being more active I will probably only go to Sunday School because I can always listen to the full Church service on line and the two plus hours involved in attending both is really too much.  I am also going to have to give up my Thursday coffee group and a number of other things.  My doctor also referred me to a kidney specialist as I do have some serious kidney disease.  I will not bore you with any more details and I will adjust to these significant changes in my life although I am sort of in a state of shock as didn't realize my heart and kidneys were this bad. I will just take it as another phase of life and take it One Day at a Time.  My main concern is that this is going to put more strain on Pat.

Lloyd, I admire you greatly and know you have always been a very hard worker and you sure had to start young.  I worked hard on the farm but not while I was probably a teen.  I am glad you the equipment you need as learned a long time ago that having the right tool, and a good one, is the key to a lot of job.  I hope you and Nancy have had a good day.

Gloria, isn't it great to get a good night's sleep.  Your forecast for today didn't sound too nice.  We are having 80 degree weather here and I saw my first tree bloomed out this morning on the way to the doctor's office.  Of course, we usually get some colder weather and those little blossoms get frozen off.  We do need some freezing weather for the peach crop.  I just checked and the Peapod service is not available in our area.

Callie, for along time I had my medical history and medicines in a little  red folder on the side of the refrigerator.  Now I have all of that information on my phone but realize I need to put down the code to get into my phone and put it on the refrigerator or the data couldn't be accessed.  Of course, Pat is here and know my medical history.

Amy, it sounds like your weather days are a good time to get back to your quilting.

Jane, glad you glad you are getting to spend time with your daughter and granddaughter as know those are important times for you.

Shirley, the reduction in income that Pat will have when I die is of concern for me but thing with survivor annuity, her Social Security and our savings she should be OK.  I guess I won't be around to know.  My folks had a trust that probably saved their estate around $16,000 dollars over what probate would have been.  In South Carolina the attorney we saw when we moved here advised that probate isn't difficult here and that our wills were sufficient.  The trust made settling the estate very easy for my sister.

Jenny, glad to see that Michele has such a positive attitude.  Glad you found the seminar you attended helpful.  I hope I have everything well documented and will be reviewing it again, as I do each year, and have thought of a couple of things I don't have well documented and some passwords I need to get into Pat's Last Pass account.

Roley, I have been missing hour postings so glad you stopped by to say hello.

I haven't made many comments about today's postings but have run out of energy so will sign off for today.

Good late afternoon dear friends.
Amy when you got a puppy you just got yourself a new baby to love. Intern you will get a lot of love and affection back. Even though Taffy is a cat, I talk to her and she talks back, when you live alone you have to have a good reason to be seen talking. :)

Now Larry, please think positive, I just wrote this yesterday I think,The doctor didn't give my DIL any good news about me ever coming home again. She took my safe and my jewelry back t Mass. at my request, One big thing was renal failure 5 years later at 95 I still have the same problems plus circulation in my legs and feet. As my mother would say: When the time comes you are going to be at that place. I always wait for you weather report on SC, as I lived down there so many years I am still interested.

We did not have a regular Red Hat meeting in Jan or Feb. but did get together in the food court at the mall for informal meeting. A friend took me, was fun,  Most still ate in MCD's.  I went to one of the chicken ones and got a chicken ranch wrap. Felt good to get out among people.

Larry, I've been dreading this post from you, but having lived the symptoms with Cas, I just have to tell you what an inspiration you've been. I know I've mentioned before how amazing you've been with all your activities.  Maybe your doctor doesn't even know what a busy person you are... so hopefully just slowing down a little will improve how you feel. Cas was so angry with his body for betraying him that I believe it took a toll on how he felt. Such a waste of time and energy. I am sure Pat will manage just fine but don't be in any rush, please!  Keep in mind that every day we hear of new treatments for about anything.

I like to be prepared but also an eternal optimist, plan to live to 120 but cashing the bonds today to make things easier... just in case!  Another thing that did surprise me is ... it really is cheaper for one to eat than two!  No question life as a "pair" was a lot easier and more comfortable than being alone, we have to enjoy what we can and not grieve for what we can't have. The one comforting thought I have is that Cas wanted to die in his own bed and he had that.... he didn't want to spend his last days among strangers, he was a private person, so I was glad that I was here to take care of him. I don't have that fear so like I told my doctor, "I'm just going to LIVE until I die!"

Thanks for the info about trusts, guess I need to check with a KS lawyer to see what the rules are today.... think our wills were made more than 30 years ago, Kansas lawyer but rules/laws  have changed. It has been good that we have each other to talk to about this part of life, our kids really are not ready to face or think about it with us. Thanks to all for the in-put.

Gloria de.... glad you got out & enjoyed the "girls".  For sure you are one social lady. Sounds like you have a fun bunch of friends.

Jane, you are RIGHT! I watched a clip & don't know why I was so sure Bing Crosby was the man.... but that's the movie I thought was the saddest I ever saw. Break out a new box of Kleenex!

Amy, I didn't have a drunk dentist but the one I had growing up couldn't numb my mouth... he would pump Novocaine in, shot after shot until the top of my head felt funny but I could feel the touch of his metal instruments & he knew it. He would be dripping sweat he felt so bad for me. Wasn't until we lived in England that I had gas to have a wisdom & molar taken out together as they were locked in the curve of my mouth. I woke up a few minutes later, no pain...  Bet you wore goggles when using the chain saw, after getting the chip in your eye. Terrible feeling! My heart stops thinking about it. I also have my own chain saw that Cas gave me one Christmas. He got a lot of mileage out of that present at the Petroleum Club when telling the guys what he got me... they thought HE was the one that wanted it, but it really was me. Still have it! I enjoyed the link to posted for Larry.

Sandy, I know you are one that has some fantastic memories of swooping around the US.... sometimes physical isn't as hard to cope with as having your wings clipped. I regret I never had the chance to do what you did but we can't mourn what we life offers, just make the best of each day. You are right, remember the good times. You have done a marvelous job of finding ways to enjoy your new life and coping with giving up the travels and the art.  When I stopped to think of all the folks in here that have had life changing situations since "we've known each other"... quite a few. Thanks for reminding me.

And now I need to get my warm & comfy clothes on. It's warm inside but got chilled to the bone when taking dumpster to the street & the last chicken carcass to the river. I spent extra time down at the bottom of the hill watching a very cold Great Blue Heron sitting on the edge of my path to the water. It didn't even move when I got to the bank so I took photos with my phone & came back up. All 3 cats went down with me & came running back up, they didn't go out to greet the heron. I wanted to get my outside chores done before changing clothes & now it's time to get into jammies & robe. Sounds good to me!  Fitbit tells me I only got 4 hours & 14 min sleep.
