Shirley ,you are making me hungry!! Your meal and soup sound delicious!! Any chance of you posting the recipe for the cake please?

I managed to get some laundry on the line but when the snow came brought it back in and it was almost dry. Put the baked beans in the cookstove and let them cook while I made sugar cookies and looked after the neighbours dog.

Good afternoon, of course it is cold.  It is Nov.

I just notice a picture of my great dane, holing her ear. in random shots

I have had a busy day, had a visit with the foot doctor and he did a little more cutting on my toe, and it hurts still.  A neighbor stopped in with pizza for lunch.  Got and unexpected visit from my friend that was in Fla. so she joined in the pizza party. We sat around the table for another hour gossiping.

Very profitable trip to the Amish Store and very nice visit with my daughter on the way to and from.  I know, I shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition and Mrs. Erdley is probably rolling over in her grave.  Or maybe she's laughing because she knows I know better.

I also finished forming and making the coconut cups and they are sooooo good.  My favorites of all the candy I make and I have a nice sized box to keep for ME!

Tonight, I'm going to bag the rest of them for family and friends and then tomorrow I'll make the "oddball" kinds.  These are the extras that are never alike two years in a row...excpt for the peppermint ones.  They like those and so do I.

SHIRLEY, you make me tired with all the stuff you do for your family and the cats and the property.  If I lived next door to you I'd have to move so I would have to watch you!

JUNE, I was reminded about making the print bigger by AMY's advice to you.  I'd forgotten about that and I've been squinting to read what I write.  Thanks to both of you!

Gonna go pack bags now.  Enjoy your evening!

It is Saturday afternoon and I am watching the University of Georgia beat UMass and beating them handily.  A little while ago I helped Pat put together a pineapple upside down cake that is now finishing in the Instant Pot.  It made two small cakes so when this one is done she will put the other one in to cook.  We have some left over stew for our supper and a piece of this cake will really hit the spot.  I can't remember the last time she fixed one but always liked them.  This one is made with a pineapple cake mix and rather than the traditional Maraschino cherry, which I do not care for, she is using a half of a pecan, which I do like.  It has been a beautiful day.  This morning I make a quick trip to Walmart to pick up prescriptions for both of us and then down to the Church for the pancake breakfast that is held each year to raise money for our Bolivia Mission Team. I then went on to my regular Saturday morning meeting.  So it has been a full day and I will probably feel it tomorrow.

Jane, In your profile is a link for notification of new postings action to be turned on. I saw a number of big changes he has made since yesterday and I so appreciate his efforts on our behalf.  We would be up the creek without his kind attention to these boards.  There are obviously a lot of things to check and be sure they are set up as we have been used to them.  I have had to search on the pages we see to find certain commands they may be called something else or in a different position. I think you can turn on your notifications from your profile and account settings.  You will find the link to open your profile in the left hand column where you should see your picture and under it is says Profile.  If you don't see it click on the little toggle arrow and it opens that box.  There you will see the Profile link and when that opens hover over the Account and you will see several different setting you can make. You can also check the Eastern Time Zone to get the proper time to appear on your postings.  It is a little hard to locate in the list of different time zones but it is there (I had to hunt for it).

Gloria, ambrosia is one of my favorite dishes for holidays.  We told our son and granddaughter this last summer than our days of preparing meals for them on special occasions or even routinely were over as it had just become too much for Pat and also too much for me as she is requiring a lot of help sometimes with what cooking she does.  Our days warm up nicely and it was probably 60 this afternoon.

Amy, hope you didn't have too much snow to shovel and the soreness is soon gone.  I was watching a couple of games today where it was snowing. You beat me with the instruction on increasing the size of the font we see in the posting box or in reading the postings of others.  Thanks.  I'll take one of those sugar cookies.  They sure sound good.

June, I don't know whether this will work for you with the Mac but try holding down the control key and scrolling with the mouse wheel. This increases the size of the print I see in the posting box since the formatting we do only shows when we preview or actually post.  I haven't uploaded anything to the gallery for a long time so really can't help you with that but perhaps some of our other friends can assist you.

Shirley, I don't know whether we are still suppose to post photos only in the gallery portion or not.  Your cooking for the family dinner sure sounds good. You know your family is not going to realize you may no longer want to be doing all of this cooking carrying if you don't tell them.

Jenny, I sure hope your granddaughter had a warm costume in which to dance with such cold weather.  Castle Rock is an outside venue isn't it?

deAngel, it is always pleasant when a friend stops by and you can just visit. I hope you toe soon feels better and stops hurting for you.

June Drabek

I do not think my imac responds to what I need, but I am finding this much easier to read so perhaps it is working.  or my problem may be with me.....pushing 94 in age, so I cannot rely on sight, hearing, sense as I did a few years ago. Keeps the brain working though, so I won't complain.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

June Drabek

I will give it up for tonight. Brain is tired. Hope and pray you all have a peaceful night and a blessed tomorrow. I love you all so much and so glad we have this site.Sleep peacefully while God keeps watch Thank you OlDIESDMAN. you are a Blessing

Shirley

I went to bed too early & woke up thinking I've had a full night sleep but Fitbit disagrees with me. Both Tom & Tiger wanted out but didn't take them long to be back on the step to come in.  Callie has not moved from her perch in front of the "toe warmer" below the kitchen sink. She is so grateful to be inside as cold as it is out.

Amy, I will post the recipe for that German Chocolate cake & icing as soon as this site settles down. I did as directed & got the print larger in this "post box". The recipe I use is still on one of the very old Baker's German sweet chocolate wrappers... back when they had an extra cardboard type recipe inside the package. I need to copy it off anyway, the old one is getting faded out.... but will wait until this site is all fixed, I'm not sure I can find the cooking folder. Right now I don't see my "crazy face" & some of our other characters... maybe Oldesman (sp?) is up all night trying to put us back to "the way we were" (big thanks for all your hard work...I'd give you a thumbs up but that's also missing right now <smile>).

Several of my grands, my daughter & daughter-in-love (thanks, Amy) would all do the cooking & baking but I don't have a recipe for these things (except the cake). I add every spice & herb that my herb chart calls for, for pheasant, onion, garlic & celery... & keep tasting & smelling until I'm satisfied. When others have made the turkey & noodles it tastes "flat" to me, they are serious about "eating & cooking healthy"... to them it means NO salt.

I know it is flattering to me that they want what they remember, but I didn't start doing this until Andy married a girl from south east Kansas & my best friend of about 40 years grew up in the same area, both insisting they have "noodles to put over their mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving".  I could hear my mother saying "that's starch over starch"... and rolling her eyes. She was an Adele Davis (You Are What You Eat) fan & we grew up with balanced diets & a mother that loved to cook.

Until I started school I sat in more of those wooden folding chairs at cooking schools than I could count. Back in those days women didn't drive much, (men needed the cars to go to work), and stores put on cooking classes all the time...free...and a big sack full of groceries went home with the door drawing winner. We'd ride the bus both ways & more often than not, my mother would be the winner of the groceries. Remember those wooden chairs, how if you moved they could fold you up?  I was little & wiry, feet stuck straight out & didn't move.

I am rambling & need to get back to sleep... 3:00 am now, so concerned I won't wake up again at 5:00 to feed cats & me, to dress & be at church by 7:30. Takes me at least 15 min to drive & I like to be early to "talk to God" before Mass starts. I tell Him all about everyone in here (but of course He know you, so we are just covering my thoughts)  I ask that each of you have a good week, hurt less and be happy. With all of us praying for each other I know He listens & smiles at our struggles with aging.

I can't see ice this morning so maybe it quit misting after I got home last night. Wipers ran all the way home & gauge in the car kept bouncing between 32 & 33 degrees. Feels more than 10 degrees colder as the wind was strong all day/night. I used to say that I like winter, not sure I'll say the same this year.

Amy

Good morning everyone.

It has gone past chilly to darn right cold here, -5°F here this morning. A day of rest here..although I may put together the Moose Pharts as that is an easy to do job.

Shirley ,that is fine, whenever you get a chance and the time is right will be fine. I can't take credit for the daughter in love....JUNE started that and I picked it up.

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone..

G'morning all. A cold but still bright and dry day, just been speaking to Lloyd, he asked me to pass along this message, 'Trying to get into S&F !, every thing has changed, nothing on his PC is working and until he can sort things out, you will not see him !'; poor old Lloyd, he's not a happy Bunny this morning !, :( .                Well that's that little job done !, off to the kitchen now, G'son asked me to make him a 'Old Fashioned Rabbit Stew' so fingers crossed, my other half will allow me to start at least preparing everything !. :tickedoff:...
                                          Cheers. Roley.

Good morning everyone, from what I have heard on the weather reports this morning Thanksgiving day will be the coldest so far, On Wednesday night it will go down to 15 and the high will be just above freezing. Makes me think about staying home instead of going to my grandson's for the holiday.

JUNE  I am still learning Windows 10 and have forgotten how I fixed font size.

SHIRLEY  I will believe you will stop all that cooking when I see it. About time your children took over that job and it really is a big job as we get older.

JENNY  like you I will believe Shirley will not do all that coo‌king when I see it.

I have been sneezing since I got up this morning, hope a cold is not in my future this week.

Good morning,   I am trying out the suggestion from Larry about putting the codes in before I post my message.  Will see how if works.

This will just be a quick "Good morning" message.   It is supposed to be partly sunny today, and it is still cold.  I heard that Thanksgiving Day will be the coldest day so far this winter.  Thankfully,  it is supposed to be a nice week without any kind of precipitation.  That is good.

It sure is slow on these boards since all the new changes.  I sure hope we don't lose any of the our friends.  I was hesitant at first and didn't think I could figure out what to do, but it has come to be fairly easy to adapt to the changes.  I know at our age, change can be a little hard to accept.  But, that is part of life, I guess.  It really is not too good to stay in the same rut all the time.  So, we learn to roll with the punches. LOL

Have a wonderful Sunday.  Happy Birthday, Sandy.   Hope you have a special day !!!

Well,  what I did,  did not work out the way I was hoping.  So, I will just have to leave it this way ,  for now.

Happy Birthday, Sandy~  Hope it is a wonderful day with nice surprises.    I don't seem to have any balloons or anything this morning... for Pete's sake, can't do without them!

It is a cold morning, more gray & rusty browns, lots of the leaves on the ground but still plenty more on the trees. Will do the raking when warmer next week.  I had a whole gaggle of computer wizards taking up 4 tables at McDonalds while ago & forgot to ask them "HOW TO"..... download or upload the updates on my iPhone... and how to put different cities in the weather app... both are different (old smart phone was android-Alcatel)... It gave me notice at McDonalds that it needs a major update but didn't want to do it then/there so said cancel. Now I can't get it to tell me again. DUH.............. My daughter had set up the iPhone once, both sons changed thing so it would be "easier for me".....and nothing is easy about this. That's how I have St.Louis & not Wichita on the weather. (I'm rolling my eyes).....

Shirley

That is not at all the way that post was supposed to look.  Sandy's birthday greetings were BIGGER than the rest of the post & my wise cracks about half the size.

Well, I changed the size of the printing where I'm typing and I figured out how to size and color my post and I found the balloons.  But I'm still not getting notifications of postings.  After I post, it says "recieve notices and alerts" changed from "something else, I forget what"  but it's not telling the truth.

I'm going to go make the "oddball" centers now and maybe even coat them and then we'll see what happens.

I really wish I were in Oklahoma right now.  Emma is being baptized and I'd love to be there.  Pictures will be sent to me later.  Maybe I'll try to post them and maybe I'll just forward them to the photo expert in Israel.

Enjoy your day.  Keep warm!  Keep well!

Gloria D, I'm here.  Dot and I just got home from church and lunch at Mr Burger.  I did fuss with the cat for a while but I'm ready for a nap now.  I won't say I have this new format figured out, but I know where my icons are and I know how to get them to do what I want.  I'll have to experiment with others.

It is a nice day so far, sun is shining but our temp is about 35 degrees.

I sent James money for a turkey which we will eat on Saturday but I don't know if Tom is going to take anything more - such as green bean casserole, a standard.

[Happy Birthday, Sandy!

Brr cold, gray, drizzly day in Central Oklahoma.  Quite a change from the past several days.
I'm being a Recliner Radish.

My Sooners and OK State teams both had "squeaker" games yesterday.  I don't think I've ever seen a game in which the last play started when the clock showed exactly 2 seconds left in the 4th quarter.  Thank goodness for an alert lineman who batted away the pass that would have won the game for the opponents.

Jane,  I don't know what the weather is over east in Tulsa but I hope it's better there than here.
Hope Everyfriend Everywhere has an Enjoyable Day.

Hi Everyone. We have had a beautiful day and when we left Church this morning it was up to 67 degrees.  We did go to lunch at the Sunshine Grill and I came home and rested.  Yesterday was a busy day as I posted about late yesterday evening.  Just watching some football and both of my pro teams last this afternoon.  However, the 4 college teams I follow all won yesterday so it was not a lost weekend in the football area.

June, your postings looked fine.  I hope you had a good night's sleep last night and have enjoyed your day today.

Shirley, I know that if I ever get another piece of German Chocolate Cake it will have to be purchased.  It was a task yesterday as Pat and I put together the Pineapple Upside Down cakes.  I agree with your mother about not putting noodles on potatoes.  The different customs we have for special meals is interesting.  Thanks for remembering us in your prayers.

Amy, I sure hope we never see a minus 5 degree night.  However, in years past I have lived where that was not uncommon although not experienced this early in fall or winter.  I hope you have enjoyed a restful day.

Roley, thanks for sharing the information on the problems Lloyd is experiencing.  I did hear from him yesterday via email and put together some step by step instructions that I hoped would be beneficial to him in posting here.  Hope you got your Rabbit Stew made for your grandson.  How many grandchildren do you have?

Gloria, hope the warmth of your day with your family will overshadow the cold temperature expected on Thanksgiving.  Take a look at this article which gives step by step instructions for setting the font size in Windows 10.  https://windows.gadgethacks.com/how-to/change-font-size-windows-10-0166687/

Joy, like you I am hopeful that no one gives up posting here because of the changes in appearance.  Our online family here seems to be shrinking and we sure don't want to have anyone leave us because of the software.

I am going to guess that you might have put in the codes at the beginning of your posting and then typed at the end of the codes.  You must either type in the center of the codes, i.e., after the codes with [ b]Start typing here[ /b] .  You can delete the / codes on postings that you don't want to change some settings.  If you want to do this then you highlight the words and then click the code you want.

Shirley, doing the update on your iPhone is really easy.  Click on the icon that says Settings.  Scroll down to the General entry and click on it and you will see "software update".  Just click on that and it will tell you if you need to update your software and if so just follow the links on the phone.  It will download the software and then may ask you if you want to install it and just say yes. That will shut the phone screen down and then restart it when the update is completed.  I suggest you do a quick Google Search about changing cities in whatever weather app you are using.

Jane, I assume the "old ball" you mentioned is a type of candy.  I don't think I every heard of that type and I do like to keep up on candy.  :)

Mycheal, thanks for that wonderful Thanksgiving piece.

Linedancer, Is the nephew you mentioned the one who has had to learn to re-walk? Is it time for the Westminster Dog Show?

Callie, your teams did have interesting games yesterday. Those last second plays seem to be fairly common in the Pro football games.  The Universities I follow had fairly easy games yesterday.

Joy

Yes, Larry, That is what I did.  But, I had put 3 codes in..... Bold, Size and Color.  Where about should I have started typing???     I think I will just stick to the way MaryAnn does.  It is not quite as confusing. But, thanks a lot for being so helpful to everyone.  I am doing this with just the "bold" code
