Sharon, my two eldest daughters married just 6 weeks apart.  The first one was pretty formal, the second not-so-much - both choices of the brides.  Crazy years.  The two weddings this year are different families, one granddaughter and one grandson - so not so bad (for me, anyway).  I can't imagine how people would spend that much for a dress (or two) that would be worn once.  Crazy!

Marilyn, the "sundowning" is quite a problem, I understand - so difficult for you to deal with.  Interesting about his vision changes.  I went in for my 6-month eye check, and the doc found that my vision had improved over the previous exam.  He checked it again Monday, and it was the same.  So I've ordered a new pair of glasses.  Go figure - turn 83 and have your vision get better???

Mary at least Keith isn't roaming yet. He loses direction in the house.

maryz

That's good, Marilyn.  Just in case, though, have you investigated getting an ID bracelet for him.  I think they're available from the Alzheimer Association.  Might be a worthwhile investment, if you can get him to wear it.

Marilyn

Getting him to wear it could be a problem.

maryz

We tried one with John's dad, and he wouldn't keep it on, either.  Might be worth a try, though - if you thought he might wander.  It's all trial and error, I guess.

I got up about 6:30 this morning; no paper  >:( ; had my cereal; went to my chair with coffee; and promptly went back to sleep until after 9!!!!  Guess I'm still getting caught up from the weekend. Jean just called.  After the wedding, she and Kate went to Orlando to go to Harry Potter World, and they're on their way back home (to Nashville and Kentucky).  They're going to stop here for lunch.  Always fun.

See y'all later, Buddies!

Marilyn, you might check out a thrift store for a suitcase or TJ Max, etc. You might be able to find something cheap and suitable.  Just be sure to clean it well if from a thrift store as bedbugs love suitcases. Maybe you could get a bracelet or something you could pin to his shirt or pants. Do they have a GPS in them?  Otherwise, get him a burner phone to put in his pocket that the police could track.  Just ideas. Haven't dealt with it myself.

Mary, how nice to have lunch with the girls again. Doesn't it drive you crazy when the paper isn't there when you get up?  However we are dropping our subscription when it expires. It's over $200 a year and that's too much.

Jane, are you home yet?

I just got back from the grocery.  I got all my hummer feeders up yesterday.  No other big news around here.  Sharon

jane

Hi, Buddies!

Mary....get rested up.

Marilyn...you've got a tough road.  I hope K doesn't get confused and upset during the flight and stay in Hawaii so you can enjoy the trip.

Sharon...he may be able to drive, but I think I'll need to go along.  He drove a lot before, so we'll see.  He can't walk very far yet.  He just has no stamina.

We're in for tonight...DesMoines area and will go on home tomorrow.  Good driving weather so far, and Ray drove again today on the Kansas turnpike.

We will need to get Ray some new shorts.  He's lost 20 lbs, and his are so baggy, and we all know how long it takes to get the chemo out of our systems.

I hope Sue is ok.

Jane

jane

Good morning!  Chilly 37 here...after 4 months in S. TX, this is cold!  Brrrr ;D

After breakfast, we load the car one last time and head home.  Looking forward to that.

You all have a Good Friday.

Jane

maryz

jane, I know you're glad to be back home.  I hope there was no flood damage in your community.

I'm worried about Sue, too.

I'm just home from having my mammogram.  They didn't tell me anything there, so I'm going to assume all is okay.  Now to wait for the letter.   Duplicate this afternoon.

My team lost yesterday...hope yours is still in the running.

Hi Buddies,

This is just a quickie as Tim is here and is trying to figure out why I'm having trouble getting in here.

Sue

SharonE

Glad you're okay, Sue. Hope Tim gets it worked out.

Jane, I certainly understand the loss of stamina and the radiation will add to it.  I agree that it's best if you drive or accompany him.  Glad you're getting home today.  Dig out the heavy clothes again!

Mary, hope you do well in duplicate. I forgot to post that I came in first yesterday!  That's twice in a row, but a good part was the partners I had.  Can't say I'm sorry your team lost as we have several Purdue grads in the family.  Of course we would have been happier if it had been IU.  :D

This has been a hard week for me--one of my friends who was Dean of Girls at our HS passed away and then one of my sorority sisters. Both had been ill for some time, but one is never ready.  I saw something on FB that I thought was appropriate:  As you say goodbye to your loved one, they are saying Hello again to those who have gone before.

Hi to all. Sharon

jane

Sue....so glad to see your post.  Whatever you did to post that is to just keep doing that.

Sharon...sad to lose two close friends.

Mary...still some snow along the north ditches and roads still closed from flooding in southwestern Iowa.  Now Nebraska is having snow!

We're home.  I have a few things out of the car, have been to the grocery for enough to get us through breakfast tomorrow.  We've been invited to neighbors for supper tomorrow night.  I'll need to go back to grocery tomorrow for other stuff.

I'm beyond tired.

Jane

alpiner1

My big toe is better but I caught my left index finger in a restroom stall latch & tore a flap of skin loose .  I put a band aid on it & the skin seems to be re-attaching . I'm my own worst enemy !
My friend from school days sent me an early birthday package & the sweetest card . She sent me 3 summer T shirt tops , a stuffed bunny toy , bracelet & candy ( much too sweet for me , but her heart was thinking of me ) & money for our trip to Las Vegas !

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's bright and sunny here this morning.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but am not dressed yet.  I will get into my jeans, sweatshirt, and sneakers and get out for my morning walk soon.

Jane, I'm glad you and Ray made it home safely.  I hope you both can get rested and that his treatments at home work out well.  Keep us posted.

Sharon, I'm sorry about the loss of your friends.  It's so hard to realize that we are all getting to the age where the losses are more frequent.  I do occasionally hear from high school classmates through a website one of our classmates keeps up online.  None that I know of live in or near Alabama.  I have only been back to West Virginia once since sister Anne moved to Jacksonville, Florida.  Bob was still living and went with me that time.

Darlene, good luck with your clean-up project.  I really need to take a good look into my closet and do some of that, too!

Alpiner, OUCH!  I hope your finger heals quickly.  It sounds as if your school friend knew just what would be a great birthday gift for you.  Have a very Happy Birthday!

It's bright and sunny here this morning.  I need to get dressed and outside for my morning walk.  I have laundry to do and will spend most of the day reading and watching men's basketball games, plus my South Carolina Gamecock women are playing today, too!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

jane

Alpiner...wow...what a generous friend...all kinds of gifts and $$, too.  Glad to hear the toe is better, too.

Darlene...yes, it is good to be home...but I miss the beautiful spring flowers and trees we saw enroute home.  I hope Spring gets up here soon.  Right now everything is brown...and with temps in the 30s this morning, likely to stay that way for a while.  Next week it's to warm up and maybe the lilacs will begin to bud.

Sue...sounds like a good way to spend this Saturday!  We'll be watching games, too, I think.

One of the women last night asked me if I was unpacked yet.  We'd been home 3 hours.  Uh....that would be a no.  The other woman said, "K, don't you know how much stuff you need to be gone 4 months?"  ::)

Just going to try to not get stressed about all there is to do and unpack and take it one day at a time.

jane

SharonE

Jane, one day at a time is the right attitude.  If you need something that is still packed, you know where to find it.  Rest up for now.

Alpiner, what a good friend!  Have fun in Vegas. I'm not a casino fan, but know a lot that are.

Sue, so glad to see that you're back on again.  Enjoy your games.
Brian & Traecy are so excited that Purdue is in the elite 8. They play Virginia next, I think.

Mary, hope you had a nice lunch with your girls.

I did some office work yesterday and a load of laundry. Not much more.  Nothing planned for today.  It's been sunny and warm the past 2 days but temp is to drop some tomorrow + rain.  My jasmine and pansies are in full bloom.  John is spraying the azaleas against aphids today. They are showing some color, but not much.

Have a nice day and may your team win.  Sharon

maryz

alpiner, Happy Birthday!  Great presents from a great friend!  Enjoy your special time.
 Hope your thumb heals quickly.

Darlene, Brava for doing the cleaning-out.  We all need to do more some of that, I'm sure.

jane, the unpacking will surely wait.  Enjoy getting to see spring come again.  I had a lovely lilac when we lived near Nashville, but just enough farther south here that they don't do well.  So beautiful!

Sue, glad to see you back.  Congrats to your Auburn men! and your SC women!

Sharon, I hope your azaleas are as lovely as the ones we saw in Savannah last week.  I got only one photo, and it's not very good.  If one of the girls posts one on FB, I'll repost it.

I had a good lunch with Kate and Jean Thursday.  They usually want to go to a nearby local burger joint with great burgers and home-made potato chips, so that's what we did.  Duplicate yesterday was good.  My partner and I were tied for 3rd with 53+%, and earned 0.24 MP.  She'll be over 100 MP soon, and won't be eligible to play in this particular game any more.  It's been fun with her, though.

I guess today was still resting up from the wedding.  I woke up about 6:30, ate some yogurt, read some of the paper, and went back to sleep in the chair until almost 10 a.m.  And I've already had a small naplet this afternoon.  Our "new" dining room was finally opened for us yesterday.  It is really nice - bright and clean, decorated in light gray, white, and brownish neutrals, with (so far) nature-subject art work up.  It's especially great to be out of the temporary situation. There's still more renovation to do, but it won't affect me as directly.

Happy Weekend, Buddies!  May all your teams do well.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I'm glad to see that Jane and Ray have made it home safely.  I hope everyone is well and happy this morning.  It is cloudy and will probably rain while we're in church.  Olyne and I are skipping the special adult class today and will only go to the 11:00 service.  I'll be watching Auburn men's game with Kentucky when I get home from church.  I expect it to be a tight one!

Mary, it sounds like you've had a great morning and a good lunch with Kate and Jean on Thursday.  Your plan for taking it easy this weekend is a good one!  Our Auburn tigers are playing Kentucky today--and it will be a tough game.  I am going to church with Olyne, and hope to be home in time for all the good games.  Kentucky is a tough team to beat, though!

Sharon, my azaleas are in full bloom and are lovely this year.  At least the ones in the front yard are blooming.  A few in the back are blooming, but I didn't water them enough during the winter and I don't think they will do well.  The foliage is good, but not many blooms.  Our AU Tigers must play Kentucky today--and that will be a tough game.  I will be home from church in time to watch it.

Jane, take your time with the unpacking.  I think rest should be a priority and of course, medical appointments.  I hope Ray is feeling well this morning and I know you both are probably glad to be home.

Marilyn, good Sunday morning to you, too.  I hope this will be a good day for you and Keith.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

SharonE

Ditto, Marilyn--Good Sunday morning to you.

Sue, I think I heard Au beat KY.  If so, I know you are delighted. Purdue got beat but apparently played fairly well.

I've had 2 really long phone calls and haven't gotten anything done.

I did go to church this morning although John didn't. He wasn't feeling well.

I gave the gal at church who has been diagnosed with BC the website for here and invited her to join us. She is a nurse however so may not feel the need.  I also gave her one of my Jodee catalogs for bras and prosthetics for when she is ready for them.  Her name is Freida.

John got all of our azaleas sprayed for aphids yesterday. They were looking like they were infected.  I plan to go to the nursery sometime later this week or after my next appt near it to get flowers for our new flowers garden.

I hope everyone is havinng a nice day.  Sharon

jane

I've been watching basketball on and off...routing for Auburn, of course!  And now Michigan State knocked Duke out.  That'll mess up a lot of people's brackets.   ;D

Busy day here.  Young man next door came over and carried two boxes we'd shipped home upstairs for us, got the plastic tote out of the car and into the house and got the cart off the top of the roof rack.  He's a 22 or so year old, and seemed to appreciate the $10.  He's working at night and going to community college.  He's gone away for restoring automobiles and auto mechanics and then found out in his first job out, he didn't enjoy doing that.  So, he came home, got a job at night and enrolled in the community college.

Have a good evening, Buddies.

SCFSue

Good almost noon, Buddies.  Tim's friend, Eddie, who is going to be taking me shopping and to do errands was here along with Tim this morning.  We've worked out a schedule and what I will pay Eddie to do this and he'll be taking me to the library and Kroger on Friday.  In the next week I'll probably ask him to take me for a haircut, too.  I'm glad that Eddie has the time and his fee is not unreasonable.  He's good company, too, so I am happy he will help me out and free Tim and Kris for things they want to do.

Jane, thanks for rooting for Auburn.  We're very proud of our team and hope they continue to do well.  Also sorry about the injured player.  It was nice that his parents brought him to the game in a wheel-chair and he was able to root for our team right next to the bench!

I hope Every Buddy had a nice weekend and if you weren't playing Auburn, your teams won!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

Marilyn

Freckles is at the groomer this morning getting Beautified. It only takes an hour then she is ready to come home.

SharonE

Sue, I was mentally routing for Auburn, but I didn't watch any of the games.  It's nice that Tim found Eddie for you and that you ca feel less of a burden on his time.

Marilyn, I bet Freckles looks beautiful!

John is off to bridge.  My cleaning girl comes tomorrow and then I have to go to the audiologist to get my new hearing aids and get them fitted.  I may go by the nursery on my way home since I practically pass it.  Other than that not much going on.  I need to type up my articles for the newspaper today but that's it.

Jane, I'm so glad you found a young man to help with the carrying in of all the heavy stuff. He needed the $$ and you needed the help! Don't be in a big hurry to get everything unpacked though.

Bright and sunny here today but in the 50's today and tomorrow. Then back up.  Sharon

Sue....good news on Eddie.

Marilyn....Freckles must look elegant after a grooming. I need to get an appt for a haircut...and some "grooming." ;D

Sharon....how do you like the new hearing aids?   I wish I could get Ray to wear his one without nagging all the time.

We had such a great Monday on getting stuff started!  We couldn't believe it.  First, I called State Farm to get the ok on getting our car fixed from when the woman backed her car into ours on Dec. 7.  Sidney explained they didn't have any facilities locally on their list, so took the one I wanted and said she'd contact him. She had called  him by the time we drove out there to alert him. He knows their "routine" and said he was doing another job for State Farm.  He'll stop by the house and take the pics and do an estimate to send them.

Then we saw the plumber in person and he'll stop by to see our two projects.

Thirdly, I got hold of the Cancer Center and a woman clled me back with the name
Of the radiologist they were faxing Ray's records to.  We're hoping to hear from that office soon or we have numbers to call.

WhoooHooo...it's rarely we get such good contacts that quickly.

It's getting warmer here, but rain is to move in.

Jane

Cottoncandy

Sharon...tell us about your new hearing aides...one of mine stopped working ...so looks like I will be needing new ones...wish I could stay with just one... I seem to be able to hear ok ....always something....

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's a bright sunshiny morning here and as soon as I get dressed, I'm going out to walk in my neighborhood.  I have bridge at Bonney's house on Thursday and Eddie, Tim's friend who will be helping me with library and Kroger visits will come back on Friday a.m. to take me to the library and Kroger shopping.  Tim and Kris are going up to Minneapolis for the AU game this week sometime.

Tim came over yesterday with Eddie and when we'd arranged for Eddie to take me out on Friday, Eddie went home.  After Eddie left, Tim and I went through my hall closet for winter clothing suitable for a few days in Minnesota.  They are flying up for the game.  I had a pair of Bob's winter pants and a few other items that are much warmer than the things they've had to wear, so off they went with Tim.  I'm hoping AU does well and does not disappoint all the AU fans who will be traveling up there to the frozen north!

I need to get dressed and get a few chores done.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

SharonE

Way to go, Jane. I know you feel a sense of accomplishment.

As to the hearing aids, I don't go till 2:00 and it's only 11:00, so can't answer your question.  They are self charging Phonak brand. That's all I can tell you.

Would you believe we got an inch of snow here this AM?  It's stopped now and is supposed to get to 52 this afternoon, so I'm sure the snow will be short lived.  Love Carolina snow.  So pretty coming down and so quick gone.

Sue, I'm sure you're glad to see Bob's clothes used.

Back later.  Sharon

Looks like S&F is back. After this morning's emails, I didn't think I would get here.

Amazing you had snow, Sharon.  It's been near freezing the last two mornings, but turned off to be nice days.  And predicted to be near 80!!! by the weekend.  I had my a/c on last week, but had to turn back to heat.  Now back to the a/c, I guess.

Played duplicate last night, but the scores didn't get posted.  Guess there was a computer glitch somewhere.  Boo!  Yucky cards in any case.

Happy Tuesday, Buddies!
