G'Morning all, Hi Lloyd.
Beautiful morning here, very warm too for a change !, had a great surprise this morning !, just looking around on my TV and I found on 'You Tube' a live broadcast from Missouri !, so I sent Lloyd a Email telling him 'to get down to the Railway Crossing' and give a wave ! lol, I just put into search,> La Plata Missouri USA--virtual railfan.<
I must admit my ignorance of La Plata, I have never heard of it or, even where abouts it is in Missouri, now I shall spend the rest of the morning researching its history, as it is a live broadcast and as the day progresses, perhaps I may even get to see something of Lloyd !, I am not a Railway fan but, it will be interesting to see (perhaps something going on) what a Sunday is like in La Plata !.
More armchair Travelling !.   Cheers. Peter.  AKA ROLEY.

Good morning everyone..

Another awesome day in the making here. A day of rest here too!
I think the second row of beans are going to come up as good as the first so we will have lots of beans. Told the neighbour that we will have more than enough to share.

Roley/Peter, great seeing you here.....yes you watch our friend Lloyd, make sure he behaves..I know a tall order for that gentleman.

Jane, everyone that I have shared a jar of peaches with really enjoys the fresh taste of them.

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone.  Today is to be a carbon copy of yesterday weather wise with it being hot into the 90's this afternoon and a slight chance of rain. Pat left me a note to wake her at 7:30, which I did, as she wants to go to Church this morning.  I will go to Sunday School and then come back to the house to pick her up so we can go back to Church.  It is just too much for her to sit through both of these. I did make it to my meeting yesterday, but decided I could wait awhile longer before going to Aldi's.  On the way home I stopped at Wifesaver's and got us each a delicious chicken dinner and this time added a small banana pudding for Pat and a piece of Lemon pie for me, which I had last evening.  We will be eating somewhere after Church this morning before we come home.  The rest of the day will be spent quietly.

Jane, thanks for the info on the fried radishes.  They don't sounds like my cup of tea.  I don't think I have ever seen colored canning lids.  Glad you got a bargain on them at the Amish store.

June, hope you enjoyed your casual Saturday.  I don't think I could sing for an hour anymore as my voice is about shot when I finish leading the two hymns we sing at Sunday School and sometimes have to drop out a verse or so during Church.  Now why do you "want to act your age"  :).  Glad you felt up to attending the evening program.

deAngel, nice weather up your way.  Like you I never got an allowance working on the farm but my mother could usually come up with a nickle for a treat when we would go to town and I was provided some spending money when I lived at home and attended college plus didn't need to take out a loan to finish the college costs like most must do today.

Jane, it sounds like you had some good experiences with your time leading the Girl Scouts.

Amy, my mother would never allow a pet into the house so we didn't have to worry about tracking the ashes from the stove.  I think we just put them into an ash pile but again that memory has faded.  It sounds like you are going to have a nice garden.  That loam soil is great for gardening.

Mycheal, I watched the eaglets for a few minutes in one of the cams from the link and wow are the loud.  They didn't like it one bit when mother flew off and left them alone.

Roley, I grew up in Missouri and also lived there for nine years of my married/work life.  I have never heard of La Plata.  Missouri is a really large State.  I just looked it up and it is a long ways from where Lloyd lives.

Lloyd, you all are going to be hotter than we are here in South Carolina.

JaneS

I've been to church and I'm ready to leave for my grandniece's graduation party.  I have a couple hours to wait.

The talk of a nickel for a treat reminded me of my childhood.  Our church was across the bridge in Williamsport ( we lived in South Williamsport) we got a nickel for the bus one way but if we got up and got started in time to walk over and we always walked home....right past the ice cream store...we were allowed to use the bus fare for ice cream.  What an incentive that was!  And with a sister like mine who was insistent that I HURRY, we usually had ice cream.

LARRY, you are absolutely right!  I did have some experiences with the Girl Scouts that made forever memories.  And I know that some of the girls share those memories because I have some of them through my line and we remember together.

Just thought of something I have to do before I go.  Enjoy your day!

Good morning everyone 61°. Nice day yesterday and today is to be better. Good weather for the air show. Today is a RI celebration. Gaspee Day. The first fight back against  England when when we sank their revenue ship the Gaspee. That happened a year before the Boston Tea Party. Big celebration here of course and a big parade. They have a mock model of the ship Gaspee and then burn it in the harbor.

LARRY  I live as far from the airshow as can be and still live in this state. Quonset Point is at the shore. Quonset used to be a navy base and the Seabees were trained there, too. The planes mostly fly over the water. If I remember right I think it was JUNE that said she likes radish sandwiches.

JANE  those fried radises sound easy and tasty. Thanks.

GLORIA de  I have never seen the airshow. I would hate to see a plane crash. Then again I woud not like being in that crowd of people.

JANE  that time at the Cheyenne Frontier days is one all of your girl scouts and you will always remember with pleasure.

ROLEY/PETER  I have been an arm char traveler since I first got a computer. I still like seeing other places and enjoy seeing what other countries are like. Mostly I like looking at different placed here in the USA. Best way to  travel.

AMY  years ago when I did a lot of canning every thing tasted so good through the old winter months.

LLOYD  we ar e not supposed to get into the 70's today.Low humidity and great temperatures here at last.

Have a good day.

Good Sunday morning.  I have not been here for a few days, but still have read some of the messages.

Jane, I am sure you will have a nice time at the graduation.  Hope it isn't a long, drawn-out one. Some of the ones from the larger schools can last a long time.   I remember my oldest son graduated from a very large high-school, and the ceremony was held at a big convention center  and just went on and on and on.  I think the ones that are held in the school itself, are so much more meaningful.  Our two other sons went to a Catholic high school and those graduations are usually held in the church.  Usually a lot smaller group and more meaningful.

It is supposed to be a very rainy afternoon.  The pine trees outside my window are starting to really blow hard.  Hope it doesn't turn into a bad storm.  Yesterday, down on the Eastern Shore, it rained so hard, that so many of the roads had to be closed because of flooding.  Not a very good day to be at the beach.  The past 3 or 4 weekends have been rainy.  It is a shame when there are so many nice activities going on outside.

Jane, I had never heard of fried radishes.  I do like radishes in a salad, but just never think to buy them.  But, I am going to try your fried ones.  I like to try something new.  Might not try it again, but at least, I want to say that I have had them.  Something unusual and different.  Will have to google them and see what comes up.

We had a kind of a Strawberry festival on Friday,, here where I live.  There wasn't many who had signed up for it, but it did turn out better than I had thought. I guess there were about 15 or 16 people show up and a lot of good strawberry desserts.  By the time we all tasted a little of each one, we were all "strawberried out".  We have a new activity girl and she is trying hard to come up with some different activities.  She was really pleased with all the different things that people had brought.   Wasn't many left-overs.

I was up a little after 4 a.m. and wasn't able to get back to sleep.  Tried to go back to sleep in my recliner, but that didn't happen.  So, I am sure a nap will be forth-coming sometime later today.

Hope everyone will have a nice day.

I'm back!  I'm tired!  I have not read the past posts but a nap is necessary so will do that first.  Lloyd, sounds good... I did a simple type meal out camping, had "my boys" grill about 20 thick boneless pork chops (from Sam's Club-home) , I added 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup & can of water.... salt & lots of coarse black pepper & put the chops in to simmer. while I saute'ed an onion in a chunk of butter in a deep skillet on the gas stove, drained most juice of a couple cans of green beans & dumped in over the onions & simmered until water was gone... fixed mashed potatoes & each had a big tub of Musselman's applesauce... it went over well.  I like the instant mashed potatoes using a cup of water & cup of milk... creamier & add a nice chunk of real butter. The boys love a fire & grilling so I worked in the veggies & fruit. (Mothers never quit mothering). Because the chops were so thick we had plenty to send the camp hosts, we've visited with them for years & know the lady loves a "different" meal.... it is a National Forest campground & the hosts are always nice, this couple special.

Jenny, it was hot & dry where we were and the pollen from the pine trees left a layer of yellow over everything... but it was still absolutely gorgeous with nights in the 40s and days in the 70s (up high) but 80s "in town".  I really didn't do much walking, the oxygen level stayed the same except when I took a whiff of pure canned oxygen... that brought it up 3 points!!  It stayed about 80 the whole time so not a real worry.

And now those zzzzzzzzzzs are pulling me over to the bed.  Talk later, Shirley

So good to read your post, SHIRLEY.  I have been thinking about you the entire time you have been gone.  I hoped you were doing well and enjoying your time here in CO with your boys!  I am sorry you had to deal with the darn pine tree pollen.....it has been awful here at our house as well.  Your food sounded perfect and glad that everyone enjoyed their time.

There is a concerning post on Face Book tonight under Don Reid’s name.  I hope and pray no one is jumping to conclusions, but it states, “May his memory be a blessing to you and all who love him.”
🙏🙏

LARRY, I appreciate that you read everyone’s posts and never miss a thing.  Yes, there is something in the works and I will hopefully be able to reveal the out come very soon.  We are just holding good thoughts and saying prayers that how ever it turns out it is meant to have.  It is nothing bad, I am very happy to be able to say.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening last night at Dr. Dave’s.  They had a food truck for 50 people at there home.  It was a Mac and Cheese truck and the food was amazing.  I had lobster Mac and Cheese and it was delicious.  They had all kinds of items you could add on to the Mac and cheese, like Bacon, jalapeños, and so much more.  They had burgers, chicken and fries also.  Another friend went in with Dave on this when they bought it at a school function to raise money for the kiddos school.  After dinner Dave brought out a out door screen and showed a movie.  It was for all ages.

JANE, you know I always smile when you go to the Amish Store.  I have never heard of fried radishes either...I will have to give it a try as I love radishes.  I so enjoyed your telling about the Girl Scouts adventure in Cheyenne. A memory that none of you will ever forget.

GLORIA, I am happy to read you are feeling a bit better.  I ho0e you continue to feel better.

I hope EVERYFRIEND enjoyed a nice weekend.

Good morning everyone..

Going to be a  nice day, hot but nice. We are off to the Dr for an appointment for hubby. Dogs have to stay home today as it will get too hot for them and here they can enjoy the cool of the house.

Shirley, sounds like you had a great time away, we missed your posts! The meal sounds mouth watering and one I am going to try (in smaller measures :) )

Jane, I picked up some radish seeds and planted a wee bit yesterday, I would like to try fried radish.

Jenny, I wiped our picnic table off yesterday as it was coated with yellow pine pollen.....hope it soon stops!

June, hope today puts a song in your heart .

Joy your strawberry festival sounded delicious, my what a choice you had. Our strawberries here are not ready yet.

Gloria,we waited for warmer weather and now wish it would cool off some. Golden girl really feels the heat now.

Larry, is that a restaurant,t that is called Wifesaver?

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone.

G'morning Gloria, Glad you also go 'Armchair Walking' lol,  a great idea for some of us 'Oldies' :), I did not have to travel very far this time to find this very interesting item, it's just a few miles from where we live !, I have also passed the details along to Lloyd, perhaps you also would like to have a look at this little piece of History too ?, put this into google search >> Walking in England. The blue idol Quaker meeting house.youtube. <<  I hope you also find it interesting ?.

Good morning Everyfriend!  I got home about 8 last night and I was really tired.  After some time with the doggies I fell asleep on the couch and since I was already in my jammies, I decided to go to bed around 10.  We got up early and here I am.

The Graduation party was nice.  A boy who has been friends with the kids almost since birth was in Bethany's class and he lives on the same street so they decided to have a joint celebration.  They had 3 tents and lots of food and camaraderie.  Bethany didn't sit still for a minute!  But we all get lots of hugs and lots of "Thank you so much for coming".  Bethany's older sister, Bridget was one of the moving forces in the organization and she didn't sit still very much either.  I really love these two kids!

When you all try the fried radishes, let me know what you think!  Even if you don't like them!

I have a message from the local berry farm that they are picking this weekend.  I'm torn between the wish to go and get some strawberries and the fact that all that stooping was VERY difficult last year.  I wonder if Kiran might like to go with me?  HMMMMM?

Good morning everyone  53°. Overcast again this morning. Cool week end but at least no rain. Just heard we may have rain on Wednesday.

JOY  we had 6 week ends in a row of rain. I saw a notice here yesterday that the price on the washers abd dryers are going up to $2.25 a load. In the 4 years I have lived here it has gone up from $1.25.

LLOYD  glad you felt good enough to make your noon meal. Hope that means your leg is starting to feel better.

SHIRLEY  glad you made it home safely.  Wonderful that you can go camping and your "boys" are there with you.

JENNY  I do feel better, thanks. Even waking hungry in the morning the last few days. Maybe my appetite is returning?

AMY  there is yellow pollen on every thing here.

PETER  So far I have been to all the USA states online. This area of the country has a lot of history, too. Will check out the Walking England. Thanks.

JANE  Been years since I picked strawberries. The farm I like also puts some in pint and quart baskets and those are what I buy. Same with their blueberries. Tell TLH that she can eat at least 1 berry from each olant to make sure they taste good and she will help you pick all you want?

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is a bright and sunny morning here in South Carolina but we have good chances of storms this afternoon.  Last evening we had a big electrical storm but we didn't get much rain from it.  Pat did go to Church with me yesterday and after the service we went through the drive thru at Arby's and got big sandwiches to bring home for our Sunday main meal.  Nothing is on the schedule or today so hope to finish up the audiobook I am listening to.  I had put one on hold and it became available and was added to my loans several days ago so the clock is ticking on it and am anxious to get to it.

Jane, it sounds like you had a good incentive to walk to Church and very smart parents.  Obviously your sister liked ice cream and probably still does.  That sounded like a nice celebration.  Can you purchase the strawberries already picked? The big strawberry farm here has pickers who come each year and then they sell them at their market and several salivate tent markets they open for about three months.  Kiran might think it is a great adventure to pick the berries for you.

Gloria, I have never heard of the Gaspee Day celebration.  Glad you added the explanation.  I thought maybe you lived near where the air show was to occur.  I would think it would be safer for the spectators as well as the pilots to perform over water. There are so many great websites showing pictures of our great and beautiful country as well as the beauty of other countries. I guess your apartment has pretty much a captive audience for the washer and dryers.  That seems like a large increase in price in just 4 years.

Lloyd, that jalapeno pepper must make your dinner dish pretty spicy.  However it does sound good and rich.

Shirley, welcome back and it sounds like you had a very nice week in the mountains and ate well.  Hope you got a good nights sleep last night.  Did the cats enjoy the trip?

Sandy,  I checked on the eagles this morning and they were still resting.  I looked at a couple of the other cams with the eagles and other birds.  Those little ones are still very chirpy and loud.

Jenny, we are well past the pine pollen stage here in our area and it didn't seem too bad this year.  Glad your anticipated news will be good when you can share it with us.  I have never heard of a food truck coming to a home for a big party but sounds like a good idea and glad the food was tasty.

Amy, sounds like a wise decision to leave your dogs in the house where it is cool.  Do they want to go with you when you leave?  Yes, Wifesaver's is a local place where you can eat in or take out and they have two or three other locations over in Augusta, across the river.  It had been awhile since we had Wifesaver's and have never been disappointed in the food.

Roley, that does sound like an interesting place you mentioned for "Walking in England" and the "Old Quaker meeting house"

roley

Hello again Larry and Gloria. Well I have spent several minutes looking at the La Plata station (live transmission) from Missouri, fantastic !, the first thing I noticed was a small group of youngish men women standing talking, waiting for a train perhaps ?, the men all had backpacks, the ladies all wearing long floral dresses and had little old fashioned 'mop bonnets' on the back of their heads, would they be some of the Amish people that Lloyd talks about ?, I have only ever seen these people in photographs before, so to see this today live from America is for me quite exciting, as I say, fantastic, wish I could stay and watch more !, hope Lloyd reads this too ! ..

For some inadvertent reason my last post has come to be interpreted as a matter of some misfortune which has befallen me.

I am fine.

If anything, I i have fallen victim to an extended case of jet lag and hope to regain a state of normalcy soon.

I have absolutely NOTHING to bring to the  soda shoppe conversation today. I am very thankful that our girl mechanic got my t.v. up and running. It was down for nearly four days.....she is a whiz at electronic equipment, and so sweet and loving. Her husband works here too..he is installing a kitchenette in the Apt. across the hall from me. People love working here. One lady retired from the Laundry room after 43 years.

And I love living here. I feel so cared for..sincerely cared for, not false love.

Just like all of us here on Srs. and Friends. A rare gift from God.

Roley, I am going back now and check into Quaker news. So good that you are feeling well enough to post. I pray you continue in good health.

Time to have a light supper at home, then a nice cool shower, and an early bedtime with an interesting book to keep me company. Hugs, Love, and Gods' Best Blessings. June

I have been out and about with my life friend, Patti today.  We went to breakfast, shopped, visited, had dinner and now she gone.  She will drive back to her home in Rock Springs WY tomorrow.  It was great to catch up.

Hi Everyone.  It looks like today we will finally get a little break in the temperature as it is suppose to only get into the mid-80's with only a slight chance of rain.  Once again yesterday there was rain around us but we didn't get any unless it rained a bit during the night when I was asleep.  We plan on going to Ruby Tuesdays today to take advantage of their $5 salad bar day.  It is usually $10.  Pat placed a big online order with Walmart that we will pick up on the way back home as Walmart is just up the hill from where Ruby Tuesdays is located.  Other than that it should be a quiet day.  I need to order Pat some ink for her printer and a different iPhone Charger as the one that came with her phone appears to be defective.  I also need to get a charger for the car for the iPhones.

Good morning to Roley and to Lloyd.  I know there are Amish communities in Missouri and perhaps Lloyd will be able to provide more info on this.  Lloyd, good to stay in where it is cool when it gets so hot in Missouri or anywhere. Glad to see you got some rain and that you had a good night last night.

Carol, just stay with the learning with the new laptop.  Feel free to contact me if I can be an any assistance.  Windows 10 can be a bit confusing but you can still set shortcuts on to your desktop to the sites you visit most and just have to click the Windows Key and the "D" key at the same time to get to the Desktop to use the shortcuts.  I don't use the little Windows 10 placards except for to use applications from the Windows Store.

Sandy, thanks for sharing the posting from Don.  I was certainly concerned and was going to try to check further today.  Don, thanks for checking in and giving us the assurance that you are OK even if you are jet lagged.

June, you are so fortunate to live in a place where the employees and the tenants are happy.  It sounds like a great place to live and work.

Jenny, it is a joy to be able to spend time with old friends and glad that Patti came to visit and spend time with you.

Jane, I bet your public will be glad to see you.  I know I am always happy with one of the young ladies greets me at the Walmart Pharmacy and often greets me by name.  I do with you smiles and short lines today.  Getting a good nights sleep seems to help out outlook for the next day.

Amy, you are still having cool mornings.  It will be many days before we will be seeing morning temps in the 40's here.  Maybe you could hide a little while from that work that is seeking you.

Shirley

I'll join the rest of you early birds about a good night sleep.... I got 6 hours & 15 min, best in a long time but enough to make me wish for a jump back in bed to get a couple more hours.  Fed cats & me, turned on sprinklers in the front yard (an hour each side to go deep enough to help).  The wind & lack of rain makes everything look like late August.  Poor Durango area of CO really suffering.

Amy, your 44 degrees sounds like heaven........think I heard it is about 80 (yuck) to wake up here. Hope all is well in your world.

Jane, reading back over talk while I was gone (didn't take notes) & had to giggle at how much we are alike.... only my 5¢ for bus ride got me a big red delicious apple at the Safeway store on my route to walk home!  I still love them but sure don't find for that price or that size!

Larry, first time neither cat "tossed their cookies" on a trip!  Couple times Tom got all nervous & I had to make him think of something else... he really is a head case!  Saw no deer in the campground this year... only one ground squirrel or gopher or what ever lives in that area, but lots & lots of hummingbirds.  Had 3 feeders going & found a 4th (Pete bought 2 last year) that we filled to put on Andy's campsite & those tiny birds kept it drained constantly.  One of the feeders had suction cups to put on the window by the bed where the cats were inches from them.... birds didn't care & cats only slight interest. No rain the whole week, very dry, first time ever we didn't have those afternoon showers.  By the way, any suggestion on how to connect my new computer to my house wi-fi when I can't come up with the security password?  I have tried every password I every used for anything but can not connect.... was no problem with connecting the iPhone because the iPod was already in the system & they auto connected.  Boo hoo, can't even do updates on the new one..... it is called the Jaguar laptop... 1 TB...etc.  & sale price of $250 at Walmart just too tempting.  Not an open box or anything... touch screen & all, my son has one like it without touch screen.  BUT, can't play with it until I solve this problem.

Gloria, first time I did not walk down to the creek behind our campsites .... not a real problem with altitude (oxygen level stayed about 80%), but just too tired from weeks of work going on around the house.  This bigger rig won't fit into my favorite site where I could jump out every change of daylight, to take photos of the water bouncing over granite rocks.... I have years of photos to paint from but such a yummy sight I want more.  I know you would love that view & sound of the water.

Lloyd, glad you are giving in to this heat.... Got to tell you that I still think you would be better off with a new pick up pulling a big camper (NOT a 5th wheel).... so you could run around after setting up camp.  If my son wasn't along with his car & camper I would be stuck at the campsite until ready to come home.  I don't want to pull my car & even think about trying to back up with it hooked on back ...... I can put the back end of that RV right on the spot to back into a site (kind of impressed my boys)... but my brain does not work to back a car or little trailer behind.  Since the campsites in CO don't have electricity I made good use of the generator this time.  Surprising how little gas it takes to run, but still hate that noise. Nice that the frig & freezer operates on propane & hardly makes a dent in the tank for a whole week... staying on when traveling back & forth so never run out of ice or cold water!  I started my camping in a little fold out Applebee camper with nothing but a bed on each side of fold out... all cooking outside on the picnic table & treks through the trees to the "outhouse".  I loved every stage of living in the woods but do appreciate the latest luxuries at this age.

Jenny, so sorry I didn't even get to call you, we were in such a rush when we went into town where we could get cell signal, but so busy shopping or eating, I didn't even call neighbors to see if my house was still standing!  I wanted to show you the advantages of the newer RV with slide out.... totally different type camping but still loved the old Rialta for the driving part!

Guess I'd better get busy, either dress or go back to bed (know some of you are grinning 'cause there's other words for that expression)............  Any word about how Pat is doing?

Gloria

Good morning everyone. Had to get up during the night to get a blanket, dropped to upper  40's early morning. Of course I had the window open. That disturbed sleep had me waking at almost 9 this morning.Sun is shining bright and up to 59°.

LARRY  since the burning of the Gaspee happened in RI waters in 1772, it never got much publicity like the Boston Tea Party that happened a year later. Like our Bristol 4th of July parade, the oldest continous 4th parade in our country. They paint te center lined in the street the mafk on red white and blue. Quonset Point is across the bay from Newport. Both big navy basses at one time till both were closed. This state id left with no military protection if we wer e invaded from the ocean. People were very worried when they were closed. The Naval college is still in Newport. We are the smallest state but still has a lot of history.

SHIRLEY  my daughter has finally started a new painting. One of the cacti in bloom. She said rhis time whe is not putting a lot of detail in like all the others she has done.

This has been a crazy day here. My son was here most of the morning and then my CNA came. She just left and now I will go have my lunch at last.
