Since I already have chemical issues due to foods that send me to the hospital with analeptic shock; this is my basic gripe!

I rarely get spam in my Gmail account.  I use a different email for when I order online so that keeps Gmail clean for me.

Just discovered this at the bottom of the page that comes up on the Forum Link:

Why is Google listed as a user at all?

Also saw a list of Recent posts on which anyone can see who posted and where.  That's an invasion of privacy, IMO!

angelface555

Google and sometimes Yahoo will show up on the list shown. They do that for their search programs.

CallieOK

Does that mean someone has done a Google search or that Google is doing the searching for itself?
I'd also seen Yahoo mentioned at another time.

angelface555

Its part of its mapping system so if someone Googled Senior & Friends, it would be up to date.Yahoo search is the same.

wJoan:  Every minute of the day, there is someone on earth trying to get into our information.  There is a special place for them.....

angel:  There seems to be a lot more reporting of food products that have been mishandled.  I always think of the time both Don and I became sick at same moment after eating at a fish place.  We didn't report it - felt too weak to even make the call.  We even had different meals but something was very wrong.  A lot of the problems go right to the required safety procedure and then just WHO are they hiring plus what is the training.

angelface555

Carol, there was an article in the emagazine of CookingLight and another one in the emagazine Domino talking about the issue, how it is already the most substantial number of outbreaks seen in years and how widespread rather than localized it is.  Both articles stated that these attacks were not expected to go back to previous levels.

The latest, affecting milk products, Ritz and Goldfish brands among others is due to whey, a milk product added to many different food products in production. The Romaine was traced to an irrigation ditch in Arizona that fed many different fields in that area of the state. No one knows how it got into the canal or from where. Sometimes it is on the machinery.

I have seen some places close here through the years after they've been written up and the health reports and inspections have been publicized. It always seems to be a fast food franchise or one of those cafeteria places.

I was sickened many years ago after eating at a cafe in Nenana, ironically called Moms. There were several people hospitalized, and it was traced back to a dish of mayonnaise in a stainless steel server, left out and not placed in ice. The cafe closed and they had to pay for everyone's hospitalization.

Another time, my daughter at six or seven months was hospitalized with two other babies as the babysitter only had one soft baby spoon which she used for all. It turned out that one of the babies had a severe case of strep. That sitter lost her accreditation, license, several thousand dollars and finally her insurance. So it pays to be aware as a consumer and also as a business.

Carol

Angel:  Your story of your child becoming sick makes me furious.  It must have almost given you a heart attack and the poor darlings had to feel so poorly.

RAMMEL

Today I'm griping about the "No-see-ems". Recent high humidity must have brought them out of hiding.  Bite, bite, bite   -   itch, itch, itch.

Did you try vinegar against the itch? Works wonders on jelly fish stings or mosquitoes bites.

wjoan

AND on sunburn.  LOL

RAMMEL

I tried ammonia right on the bites. -- not too good.  I'll try vinegar the next time.

After washing the area with a mild antibacterial soap, apply a lubricating, alcohol-free moisturizer like CeraVe, Cetaphil, Vanicream, or Eucerin to your skin during the day and before bed. Apply cool, wet compresses to soothe the itch. Take a bath in lukewarm water and colloidal oatmeal or baking soda

We have tiny gnats called noseeums, different than the bugs further south and tiny new seasonal mosquitos as well as the larger mosquitos who hibernated through the winter by burrowing into the wood.

To whip up your own version, mix a small amount of water with baking soda to create a paste and apply topically to the bite. Rubbing an ice cube on the bite location can also provide temporary relief from the itch. Juice from a lemon or lime slice can also help calm the itch from a gnat or mosquito bite.

Parking Lots!  The painted lines in parking lots are being painted closer just for another car or two can get in the lot.  Also, it is so stupid to be backing out of the spots and so difficult to see traffic oncoming.  Disaster in the making.

I came out of a store and tried to help a gal backing out - by hand signals I had her stop because traffic there stops for no one.  My car was in a spot where I could pull forward - wouldn't you think they could build a better parking plan?

RAMMEL

I totally agree with you.  I hate the diagonal parking spaces.  When an SUV parks next to you you hardly have enough room to get in a regular sized car, and it is impossible to see oncoming traffic while trying to back out.  I often just inch back and keep an ear open for a horn.

Whenever possible I always try to back-up in a parking space.  It makes it easier to get out!
My gripe is driver parking so close to the driver side of my car, so that I cannot open the door enough to get near with the wheelchair. They don't realize there is a reason why handicapped parking is wider than normal??? More than once at the mall I had to ask another customer to bring my car forward so that I could access.

RAMMEL

Around here it would be illegal to back into a diagonal space.  I guess I'm thinking of on a street, not in a store's parking lot.

My street, in  front of my building, has the diagonal parking.

angelface555

The majority of the malls here have diagonal parking, and when I'm on the city buses, I can see how hard it is for the driver to maneuver between cars, pedestrians who aren't paying attention and crowded lots.  For some odd reason, all the major grocery stores tend to congregate anchoring malls in a group.

Safeway, Fred Meyers, Walmart, along with the accompanying satellite stores congregate cheek to jowl. One group on the west side and one on the east side. On the north and south are the car lots and industrial areas, with the train tracks encircling the lot. That is one reason I avoid those areas and shop in the smaller stores, better service, better products.

My HP laptop froze yesterday and at the same time, the auto voice kept repeating a message to call a phone number on the screen. The message on the screen told me that my laptop had been hacked and my security was at risk.  Sure - don't believe anything if it happens to you--- Don pulled down the updates to security and that message disappeared.  It was scarey and I am sure a lot of people go to that site and perhaps even pay.

This part is not a gripe - so very happy to have normal temperatures today - hooray, fall is here in Colorado and finally not a hot afternoon.  This is how it should be everywhere.

RAMMEL

Now more important than ever -
BUYER BEWARE

Ordered an air conditioner. They eventually told me it wasn't available but suggested a replacement.
The replacement suggested was 2 to 3 inches bigger in all directions. Great suggestion --- if ordered it would not have fit.

Just about anything ordered has a problem somewhere along the line.

Yes, it is difficult to order and remember to check every detail and they still get it wrong.  Hope all is well with your air conditioner now.

My gripe is about the new Denver VA building - it  is 5 years late in opening and billions over cost.  Don had an appointment at the new building and the parking building was totally full.  He tried that twice - nothing.  He ended up having to park blocks away and walking to his appointment.  Not everyone going to the VA can walk to their appointment.  This is our wasted tax dollars given to dimwits and crooks.

I will finish out this season with what I have - with it's mold smell and rusty pan. Maybe in the spring ordering will be better.

It is shameful what has become of the VA.  If it was a regular business heads would roll.  The parking is very important and as you said, some can't walk very far.

Rick, unless things have changed (and I've been out of the appliance business for probably 40 years), the companies decide how many fans and air conditioners they will make for a season.  When they're out of them, they're out.  Since you ordered late in the season, they probably were out of what you want and new models will be made during the winter for the 2019 season.  Seasonal equipment isn't usually available all year long.

Mary Ann

RAMMEL

Mary Ann,
I think it's still that way.  I ordered because they showed that some were still available.  Probably didn't keep good inventory count.

today's gripe -
My project/challenge for today is to try to get my Smoke/CO detectors to work correctly. I'm just trying to follow the easy to follow instructions to get them to "communicate"(link) with each other.  I think my hearing will be shot for a while after this.

Looks like everyone else is in good shape with no gripes.  Look at all the happy people   :roflBig:

Rick:  Can you hear me now????  :) -- Really, I hope you were able to fix the alarms.

I don't know what happened - I can't have been so busy that I forgot to check on all of you.  It just seems that the daily "To Do" list keeps getting longer.

Angel:  Are you alright after the quake?  I have not heard if they could feel it in Sitka.  Talk about old news - after two days they barely run the story and what a huge and expensive fix this will be to all.

RAMMEL

Not a gripe, but didn't know where else to put it.
