Jeanne..,did ur Dr change your BP med.  that's the way my Dr is...doesn't seem concerned if it is high

JeanneP

#6931
Candy. I had a Primary Dr. for 25 years and he was the one who decided  I should take a BP med. Mild one. this about 8 years ago. Got me on a prog. for Benecar that saved me money. It cost $186. to some people. But he retired and I still was on the low cost. They kept me on the program until the thing stopped it over a year ago. I just go to a Convenience Dr. now for BP Checking. Young Chinese.Office just down the Road. He just does not seem to be that interested if it goes high. Did get me on Benicar Generic for $24 and they worked great. 2 months ago they were taken off the market and they say doubt they will ever be back. I have now been on 3 different ones and my BP just jumps up and down. This I don't like but it seems like they just write another one out for you to try. Not so worried about  them. Drug store say that 8 of these Generic ones have been taken away. I don't have a Drug Insurance because I have never taken any other drugs. Don't like them. I will go ahead and pay more I f I can get on one I am happy with. I don't like this bouncing around. Trying to work on what and how eat and hope I can get off all of them.  My Sodium is the one that is keeping me and it does seem to be getting better now that I am not drinking so much water but drinking Veg. Juice and GaterAid replacing half the water. I was feeling a little of balance before last week but it seems O.K now. He is going to do the whole blood test thing May 20 so will see. If still not O.K will be seeing a Specialist about it. Quit playing around.

Evening, Buddies!

Mary...so glad you weren't hurt.  Please give some thought about a walker (that you can get easily into your car) so you don't end up with something broken.

Jeanne...glad you're feeling better back on some salt.

Sue...hope Eddie came and you got your errands done.

Sharon...our cars use fobs and you can't do anything without it in your purse or pocket.  I like not having to dig through a purse to find the thing.

Marilyn...I hope all goes smoothly for you and K on your trip.  You will have some help with Gilbert and his daughter with you.

Darlene...hope your weather straightens out.

Alpiner...always good to see your posts.

Joy...are you still getting storms?

Ray is getting walked 4 times a day now and he's using oxygen full time.  He needs more when he walks, but that seems normal.  He feels better on it...doesn't have chest pain, etc. He was a bit unhappy about having to use it, but we talked and if he feels better, it seems like we can deal with it.  They may let him come home Sunday.  Thank you all for letting me vent!

I went out for supper with Kathy tonight and so I have lots of pizza for tomorrow's lunch or dinner.

Jane

maryz

jane, glad Ray is getting around some, and amenable to using the oxygen.  John was adamantly against it.

I have gotten out the less-fancy walker that's easier to fold, and I have ordered a bag for it. I'm obviously getting closer to using it all the time.  I'd rather use the Rollator here.  Don't know about the dining room.  Right now, it's really crowded with non-folding walkers and folks in wheelchairs (more and more of them now), and it's hard to get through the tables/chairs/walkers/etc. In any case, I slept well last night, and am not as sore as I was afraid I would be.  No bruises that I can see.

There was a piece on the NBC nightly news last night about the recalls on the "...sartan" blood pressure meds.  I take one of them, too (irbesartan), but I've not gotten a recall from my doc or the provider, and I don't have any side effects from it.  So I'll keep taking it.

We had 1.5" of rain overnight, but nothing severe (fortunately).  Supposed to rain off and on the rest of today and tomorrow, though.

Happy Weekend, Buddies!

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's still cloudy here this morning.  I'm not dressed yet, but did get the kitchen cleaned up and have put a Kroger bag full of canned food for the annual drive for our local Food Bank down at the curb for the mail man to pick up.  It rained last night after I went to bed, but I don't know how much--my rain gauge froze last winter and I haven't replaced it.

If the rain holds off, I'll probably rake up more leaves in the back yard and take them down to my leaf pile out back.

Jane, I hope you can get Ray home soon as I know he'd much rather be home with you.  I do remember those days when Bob had to be in the hospital.  He wanted to come home ASAP!  When Ray does come home, will he be able to stay downstairs?  That might be easier for both of you.

Happy Travels, Marilyn.  I'm glad Gilbert and ? (his daughter or son?) will be going with you.  Have fun!

Woo Hoo, Mary for a good night's sleep.  And no bruises showing, so that's a good thing.  We had some rain last night, too.  This morning it's cloudy and might rain again, but so far just cloudy.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy--and a very Happy Mother's Day if you are celebrating with a mother or children celebrating you!

Sue

jane

Sue...No, his sleeping downstairs wouldn't work for us. That's why we had the chairlift put in.  The bathroom with the shower is upstairs and our bed, too, of course.  If he had to sleep downstairs, I'd have to sleep in a recliner and the walk to the downstairs bath would be longer than it is upstairs.

Mary...Hurrah for no bruises!  And maybe take that walker when you're out and about, if it's easy to load in your car.  I'm glad Ray isn't fighting anything the doctors suggest.  The oxygen makes his breathing easier and he doesn't have the chest pain he gets if he walks without it.  It looks as if Monday will be the day, now, and they'll send him home with oxygen until we can get it set up here for our own supply.

Marilyn...I always carry two credit cards...in different places...when we travel since our credit cards have been "compromised" or on lists of compromised cards, and they take so long to get a new one to you.  And here, they won't send the card to any address except your home one on file.  I've had to use the second one a time or two.  Something to think about.  But, if you have a debit card, too, that would cover you.  One of the Nurses at the hospital had hers and many others apparently compromised, and someone got $900 out of her account.  $300 on 3 days.  She'll eventually get it back since she had some sort of fraud protection, but that's a bundle to lose to a skimmer.

Sharon...more dreary day here...cold and drizzling on and off.

Darlene...and Alpiner...and Joy...and Jeanne....hope all is well with you.

I'm going to rest a bit before going back up to the hospital.  I've got laundry going, the bed changed, some flower planted in pots I picked up when I left the hospital this morning.  AND, I'm tired. ;D

jane

SharonE

Sue, glad you got all your errands run. Hope the weather lets you rake leaves.

Mary, I'm so glad you slept well and aren't hurt. I agree with the others on the walker.

Jane, I'm glad they are getting Ray up and walking and on oxygen as he needs it.  I'm sure you are glad to get some flowers out, but be careful and don't wear yourself out. With all the stress and running to the hospital, it's hard on you too.  I do hope Ray can come home Monday.

Jeanne & all, do watch your BP and make the doctors pay attention. I think the Losartan, etc has been determined to cause cancer. We don't need any more of that.  High BP is called the silent killer! I am fortunate to have low.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL OF YOU! I know some of you haven't birthed children, but you certainly have been a mother figure to some.I've heard from both of my girls. I imagine Brian will wait till tomorrow. Hi to all.  Sharon

Marilyn

I need to ask for prayer. One of my grand daughter's is in the hospital in Charleston South Carolina. She has Hepatitis C that has completely destroyed her liver and her kidney's have failed. My son updated me this morning that she is now in ICU on 24/7 dialysis to get the fluid off her body so they can check her heart. They are hoping to get her kidney's fully functioning so that she can have the possibility of a liver transplant. All this has been caused by the bad choices she has made in her life, Drugs and Alcohol.!!! Anyway I am a mess. This past year has really sucked. First I lost a son in Sept. then Keith in October and November, Me in December now this. It is sure taking a toll on my family as well as myself.

JeanneP

Marilyne
On reading your posting above. I am stuck with what to say. You are really being tried. You have had so much this year. Just watch that you don't get sick again.

What a horrible day weather wise. I don't think I will ever get the painting done. Poor Farmers have not even gotten to get started on the planting and fields like like lakes
Today is Graduation day at the University of Illinois and it it being done as usual out on the Football Stadium with very little under roof. Believe that 9 thousand graduating today. (Over 34000 in the Univ.) 3 of my Grands graduated there and I remember the time . Days were Beautiful . It is Sad as it is such a happy time watching them get through. Not so much when using Rain gear to keep dry. Also lots of things the city were putting on has been canceled.
My Spell check seems to have quit working. Usually it shows red as I type the word wrong. I can clik on the Spell Check button below and it will show in a drop down screen but it will not show the correct spelling.

Jeanne and Darlene,,, Company officials said the recall was due to the detection of an impurity of an active pharmaceutical ingredient.  There were 69 lots recalled.  I'm going to check with my medical provider but I just refilled my 'script so assume the bad lots have all been recalled by now.  Google "Losartan recall" for info.

Marilyn...sorry to hear of your granddaughter.  My sister's younger grandson (29) was murdered for those same bad choices.  He wouldn't listen to his family.

Sharon and Sue and Mary...looks like bad weather coming your way.  Be safe.

Jeanne...same yucky weather here...maybe sunshine and warmer starting tomorrow.  I sure hope so, too.

I've been up to hospital and we sat in the solarium...right next to his room for a bit.  Then back to his room for lunch, and I came home for lunch and a rest.

JeanneP

Jane. That seems to be the answer from the Dr. and Drug stores on all of the BP meds that are being cancelled. Did you notice if yours that you just got refilled are not Blue and not white?

Still pouring here. Now 3 days. I am not even going to get out of PJs.

Are you close to the hospital that you can go home and rest? No point staying if he is sleeping a lot. They finely lifted the ban that was on out the big hospital here. Only the closest member could visit. Flu was really bad here up until a Week ago.
JeanneP

SharonE

Marilyn, you've had a year to try your soul. I'm so sorry for all of it and will hold your granddaughter up in prayer.

Jeanne, it has been overcast and some rain every day for 3 days. We had a deluge last night.  Too bad for all the graduates.

Jane, I'm glad Ray was able to go sit in the solarium with you for a while. Now, rest!

We taught SS today and then went to church. They had such a cute video of the children answering questions about their parents.  After church we went to the Toastery and were told it would be 45 mins, so we went to Lowes next door and got some extra mulch and Prine. Then we went to another restaurant that said it would be an hour's wait, but was less than a half hour.  I had eggs benedict and grits!

My first load of laundry is in the wash.  I have a busy week this week with lots of doctor's appts, etc.

I hope things look up for Marilyn and Jane!  Sharon

jane

Jeanne...I had white pills, but now back to the blue ones.  I prefer those...I know what pill it is when I look at them in the morning.  I hate having so many round white pills.  Hard to tell apart!  Yes, we're just a mile from the hospital by the roads...probably a half mile, if I could just fly like the crow over the river on a diagonal. :2funny:

The ER doc checked Ray for flu.  He said they were still seeing some cases, too.

I'm home now for the night.

Have a good night's sleep, everyBabe!

Good morning, Buddies.  I've had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, and dressed for the day.  I think Tim will come over sometime this morning to go over my paper work so am waiting to take my walk until after he gets here and we look through the paper work.  He has placed a basket near my kitchen table for me to put things he should check for me.

We had a nice brunch yesterday--he picked me up about 10:00 and drove me to the restaurant to meet Kris and Arden.  We had a short wait to get into the restaurant and were able to order fairly soon after we sat down.  The restaurant was VERY crowded, but our order came out quickly and that was nice.

I'm waiting until after he gets here this morning to take my morning walk.  I plan to rake leaves and take them down to the leaf pile later on this morning.

Jane, I hope Ray is feeling better this morning and will be able to come home soon.  Keep us posted on his condition.

Not much else to report.  It is a lovely sunny day here and I want to get out and walk before it gets too hot, but that will depend on when Tim gets here and how much paper work he wants to discuss with me.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

Happy Monday, Buddies!  I hope all had a good Mothers' Day.  The on-and-off rain finally stopped about 3 yesterday afternoon.  Margaret came to bring plants for my deck.  She brought four hibiscus in pots, a bunch of hanging baskets with mandeville (sp?), a couple of sweet potato vines, and a couple of oxalis pots.  I'll get the sweet potato and oxalis planted in the deck-railing-planters when I get some more potting soil on Thursday.  She also got me a new hose and pistol-nozzle so I can water them.

Then Matt, Claire, and Claire's mother came, and we all went out to eat.  We ate at a local Mexican place.  It wasn't too crowded, even though the service was a bit slow.  Still good, though.  And I talked to the other girls during the evening.  I'll be seeing the whole bunch this weekend at the wedding in any case.

I'll be getting my hair cut on Thursday, and picking up my Walmart pick-up order, but that's all I have scheduled until Sue & Randy pick me up on Friday to go do the wedding.

Hope everyBuddy has a better week than she had last week.

Mary...big weekend ahead for you.

Sue...such energy to rake leaves...not one of my favorite things to do.

Darlene...see TX is being overwhelmed with rain.  Poor Houston hit again.

Jeanne...hope your Houston daughter is ok.

Sharon...did storms come near you.  Weather map looked awful over the weekend for you.

Sitting here at hospital as Ray naps.  His blood numbers were better today.  Hospitalist talking to Oncologist...waiting for return call, and then I think he'll be dismissed.

Good morning..late one...I had a wonderful Mother's Day week end..3 of my kids were here ....one son had to work..but a lovely call from him..and some of my grandkids...there was 11 of us to share the Sunday meal..after church...Jane and Jeanne...my Losartan pill was green..the Dr changed me to Amlodipine 5mg..I took it once...but had fatigue and minor other side effects...if I can't handle it this time Dr will try another one....I get tired of worrying about it...hope to find one I am happy with...wished I didn't need any...I'm busy doing laundry...so better get moving...Hi to all...Jane hope your husband gets released today

SharonE

Yes, Jane, we had lots of rain over the weekend. Most of yesterday was just cloudy till afternoon when we got a downpour again. Nothing severe and no flooding.

We had leftovers last night since we had had a nice brunch. It was leftover meatloaf, etc. Still good and no work getting it on. Brian called about 6:00. He's concerned about my falling and wants me to put up grab bars everywhere!  Not going to happen though I may get one put in the shower. I have a suction cup one which is fine for stability, but I couldn't pull up on it if I fell. I'm feeling a little more stable on my knee now, but it still hurts and is weak.

I see the ortho guy Wed and also the neurologist. On Friday, I see the cardiologist.  On Thursday we get our church pictorial directory pictures taken. I will really be glad to have one as there are lots of people I recognize but don't know the name of.

Cottoncandy

Ok Buddies......ur opinion on instant pots...I have a gift certificate from walk mart...and that's what I'm buying....I am thinking of the 3quart..since it's just me...but would I regret not getting bigger one...when company comes....thanks in advance

Marilyn

I have a 6QT and I love it. So easy to use.

jane

Darlene....I don't have one, so no help.

Ray's still in the hospital...had a heart issue while he was sleeping... late this morning.
Magnesium was low, so they brought in an IV of that as I was leaving.  His sodium, than heaven's, is up to low end of normal.

I was there all day and tired so will sign off.

Jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, and dressed for a trip to my dermatologist. I'm sure she'll find something to burn off, but I'm used to it by now!  A volunteer from the Seniors and Friends group will pick me up and take me there.  I'm hoping I get right in and the volunteer won't have to sit there very long.  When I was a young teen I spent lots of time in the sun with NO SUNSCREEN--which I don't think was available at the time.  I do wear one on my face daily and on my body if I'm at Tim and Kris's pool.

Jane, I'm sorry that Ray has had a heart issue while sleeping and will have to stay in the hospital a bit longer.  You sound exhausted and I hope you'll be able to find some rest time.  I remember how tough those hospital visits were when Bob was there.  The new sodium rising to low end of normal is good news.  I hope his doctor will let him come home soon.

Darlene, I have a very small instant pot which I have used a couple of times.  It works OK, but I am not cooking much at all.  I do make salads as well as prepared frozen meals, so think I'm doing OK with that.  I eat fruit every day and hope I'm getting enough vitamins from that.

Sharon, you have a busy week with the orthopedic doctor, neurologist, and the cardiologist.  I hope you get good results from all 3.  Keep us posted.

Mary, I did have a nice Mother's Day.  Tim picked me up at 10:00 a.m. and we went to a restaurant where Kris and her mom, Arden, were holding a place in line for us.  The door soon opened and we were inside and seated quickly.  I enjoyed my lunch and the company.

Enjoy your day, Every Buddy.
Sue

SharonE

Oh Jane, if it isn't one thing, it's another. Good he was in the hospital though when it happened. I hope you got a good rest when you got home.  HUGSI

I did some weeding last night and so went out and picked up all the weeds in a bag to throw out. Then I cleaned off the patio where my hummer feeder had spilled. Don't know why it came lose unless the squirrel got at it. I finally put my cushions on my patio chairs, but we are having so much rain, I'll probably have to bring them in. There's a bluebird in my window feeder right now--so pretty.
Then I did a few other household things and then came in to make some more doctor's appts! Tomorrow, I have 3, as I added the audiologist to it between the other 2.  Thurs, I am going in to have the tech tweak my spine stimulator again in the morning and then race home and dress for the portrait sitting at the church.

I had a lampshade lining rip out and so the shade needs replacing, so I'm going to see if John wants to go with me to my cardiologist's appt and then go to a lighting store. He probably won't but I'd like his opinion. It's a really nice lenox table lamp.

Nothing else going on that I can think of.  Hope everyone is okay. Oh, Darlene, I don't have an instant pot, but I think you need to consider how often you have a large bunch to cook for or take to church, etc.  I've heard that they are really nice.  Sharon

maryz

It surely has been quiet in here lately.  I hope all is well with jane and Ray - and all the Buddies, for that matter.  Nothing going on around here.  This morning was one of those days when I woke up at 3 am, went to the chair and tried to sleep for an hour, then just turned on a light and started on some computer games.  Finally got up about 4:30 (the paper had come) and ate my cereal and read the paper.  I finally napped for a couple of hours, but today is pretty much shot.  This has been happening more frequently lately, and I really hate it!  Oh, well...

Happy Hump Day, Buddies!

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up for quite a while this morning, but my allergies are bugging me.  I'm supposed to go to the final Garden Club luncheon about noon, but I just don't feel like it--and I sure don't want to be coughing and blowing my nose during lunch.  The blowing and coughing started after my appointment with Dr. Holmes, the allergy specialist.  And of course, everything that causes me to blow and cough is either blooming in my yard or will bloom soon!

I'll be glad to stay home this afternoon.  Tim just called and told me that Eddie has to have a procedure on Thursday and won't be able to take me to the store, so he and Kris will come by to take me out to Niffer's to eat and then he'll take me to Kroger.  I'm
hoping the allergy meds I have in my bathroom will curtail some of the runny nose and blowing.

Mary, nothing is going on around here, either.  I'm dressed but I plan to skip the Garden Club luncheon because of the nose blowing and red eyes.  Thank goodness I have a couple of books to read today and tomorrow.  I'd like to read out on my deck, but know that will just aggravate the pollen and nose blowing.  My eyes are watering, too!

Sharon, I keep my porch cushions inside and only take them outside when I want to sit out there.  That way, I know they won't get wet in case of a shower.  We have them occasionally.

Jane, I hope Ray is feeling much better today and will be able to come home soon.  Are you able to sleep when you are home alone?

Here's a big hello to all Buddies looking in today.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Sue

Hi everyone...hope your day is going as you like...Jane sorry to read of Rays heart issue...but hoping it's treated and will be released home soon...I know how tired you must be...I did buy the instant pot and pinto beans cooked in 20 minutes and so soft...even though I have crock pots and probably didn't need this toy...but think I'm going to like it..we are still having rain..but not as bad as Houston...Hi to Sharon..Sue Mary Joy Jeanne......Marlyin hope things are ok with you...have a great rest of day...Darlene

SharonE

Hi?Mary, so sorry to hear you're having so much trouble sleeping. I presume you are still taking Melatonin...?  I get those days too and don't know why.

I hope everything is okay with Ray & Jane and that he can comeZ home soon.

Sue, sorry your allergies are bothering you so much. Zyrtek and an occasional spray of Flonase keeps me pretty good. I think I am most allergic to the pine pollen.

Darlene, glad you like your new toy. New kitchen things are always fun.

I went to the neurologist at 9:40. Didn't do anything and said come back in a year.  Then went to the audiologist and she reconnected me to my phone by bluetooth. I thought it would be very helpful during my trip. Then I had time to grab a sandwich at HT before going to my ortho appt. Ate it in the car and then went in and read till they called me.  He gave me another steroid shot which hopefully will carry me through the wedding. He also told me that whenever I felt I was ready to have that knee replaced, they felt it was ready.  I'm still going to put it off for as long as possible.

Then I stopped at Walmart to pick up some photo paper for my printer, but they didn't have any. Grrrr.

When I got home and change into comfies, I put a load in the laundry, but that's all I'm going to do.

Marilyn, you and your family are in my thoughts--as well as Ray and Jane.  Hugs to you all.
Sharon

Ray came home yesterday and met with oncologist today...bad news. This chemo isn't working and the cancer is spreading in both lungs.  He offered Ray a new chemo...and time is of the essence...so they're calling us tomorrow for an appt tomorrow in Cedar Rapids.  It's a weekly chemo.  Ray said he'd try.  Otherwise, he doesn't have much time left.  He's on oxygen 24/7.

I'm in shock.  You'll understand if I don't post much.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Jane
