Miss Emily has come and gone - heading back to Kansas, thank goodness.
Shirley, I'd appreciate it if you could keep that predicted blizzard west of you until tonight, at least. Much better for her to be by herself in a cozy warm apartment than in a car on a snowy highway.

Thought about putting away Fall/Thanksgiving decorations but have decided to be a "recliner radish" and start the 3 e-books that appeared in my Loans at the same time.  Of course, that means they're all due at the same time.   ::)

Will probably fall asleep because I couldn't go to bed until I'd watched my OU Soonersmanage to beat West Virginia by 3 points.

Hoping Everyfriend Everywhere is having a Super Saturday.

Sandy

Good Saturday Afternoon...

It has warmed up here considerably...
and this warmer weather is suppose tot hold
for a while...

So I can start pealing off my layers
and let my body breath again.

I like the idea of decorating with
tumbleweeds!     Once I figure out
how to prevent bugs in them  (if they
in fact do have critters hiding out)...

They would be fun to paint different colors
and add holiday lights to them...  always
fun to improvise and make use of what
we have available to us to make
decorating fun and somewhat cheaper.

It is 3:30 now and by 5:00 or sooner
the sun will be gone for the day.
(I do not like these long "Winter Nights",
but have to make the best of them.

I often buy and wear "Men's Clothes",
as they do cover more of me and I like
the way they fit.

Have a good night,  everyone..

Gloria do not give up I and several others enjoy you. I still think if it is not broke do not fix it, if you email us your home address we will try to put you on our trip rut. I want to leave Tuesday but Nancy doesn't think we can move that fast. so most likely be later it the weak.  bob is going to take care of feeding the cattle so no reason for us to hang around here. we are going to the bank, water dept , and the light people Monday and fix it so they can get there $$. no need to hang around here.

Sandy, I thought of you this morning as I took my COLD shower. I am so glad you suggested that, and since I read what you do, i am finding the medical people recommend COLD showers for folks that have itchy skin. Hot showers make the itch worse. I sit in my little shower with a hand held shower head and start with my feet and work my way up to my scalp...less shock that way, but so invigorating. Thank you for mentioning what you do....very helpful.

Lloyd,I am so proud of you, in the choice you have made with the motor home. I am glad that your Nancy is enjoying it with you. Do listen to her though...don't push her till she is ready. Keep Peace in the family. O.K. ?
As long as we are here, let's dance.

The candy is finished and packed and ready for giving!

[/I hope I didn't wake anyone up with my red yelling but I'm so happy to have finished that chore.  I still have some left for me to eat and some for in case I forgot someone.

And now I'm off to bed...my nice clean one that got done in between the candy dipping today.

Good night my friends.  Sleep well and wake refreshed to a new day!

Good Evening from the warmer
but wet rocky coast of Maine.

June ...
I am so glad that you have been
able to find relief from your itchy
skin using cooler water when
you shower....

I have to work into it gradually, too...
Initially warm but then I drop the temperature
before I finish up.     This does make a
difference when my skin is itchy.

Have a good weekend,  everyone...

Denver

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND!  It has been a lazy day for us.  Bob has been watching football and I have been reading and doing a few things around the house.

Yes, LARRY, we did get home safe and sound.  The roads were not great, but the plows were out in full force and the roads we better than they would have been.  Today the roads were terrible and there were many accidents and road closures.  Sure glad we and Dave's Family got out of there yesterday. Dave and Matthew skied twice this week, but the two little kiddos will not start ski lessons for two more weeks.  I do not think Michele plans to ski at all this winter.

Still no news from California about our new little grandson wanting to make a appearance.  Mama and daddy are getting most anxious for his arrival.

LLOYD, so happy to see that you and Nancy are planning to head south and be snowbirds.  Lucky for you....I would do that too if we could.

MARYANN, I bet your apple pie was enjoyed by all.

Dave brought us the turkey and we got enough meat off of it for left over Turkey meal tonight and now it is ready to boil the bones in preparation for a nice soup.

I wish you all a good night of rest.  Pleasant dreams to all.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm just checking in before I go take my shower and get ready for church at 8 a.m.  I have a couple of things to pick up at the store on my way home and then I'm going to make pot pie squares for some of the kids for Christmas.  They have to dry and then they'll keep until they decide to use them.

My keyboard is sluggish this morning so I'm going to leave it or later. Enjoy your day!

Shirley

Callie, I hope Em is back in her cozy apartment since today is going to be a real doozy for the KC part of KS. We aren't expecting much but a little snow mixed with rain, dropping temps all day and that blasted wind. I keep checking weather to see how far rain is away, will be wrapped & have to peel off after getting in church. I also am out of bread so will stop by the store after breakfast at Mickey D's with the family. I still have more laundry to do so this might be the best day for that job. I feel for all the travelers that must "go home" today, weather guessers have been warning of a mess "but then........."(in case it fizzles out). Super Suday to all.

Amy

Good morning everyone...

What a difference in temperature 30° F much nicer than the +2 or 3.
Managed to get laundry on the line and off before it got rained on too much. More kindling split and more Moose Pharts made. Just need to make my shortbreads and frangipani yet.

Day of rest here but we do have to take the garbage away to the dump.

Callie, hope Miss Emily made it home before the storm. We worry about them no matter how old they are. Now my son is saying for me to phone him to make sure we got home alright.tide has turned :)

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

well It is still messed up for me I can't use the cyemble's for telling our local tem. is cloudy and 44 degrees here. sure wis those that are capable of fixing it would put S & F back like it was. I think i am going to do like Gloria and just go else where. Have a great day. too bad bis health and age went sour for her she sure took good care of us all.

Lloyd

Hi Everyone. It is going to be an overcast day but is suppose to get up to 60 degrees this afternoon.  Pat got up this morning with a very sore foot or toe and has decided not to go to Church with me this morning.  After Sunday School and Church I will stop at Firehouse Subs to get us lunch.  We have nothing planned for this afternoon so will just rest and watch some Pro-Football.

I had tried to make some comments based on the last messages I hadn't read but my computer froze up and I had to reboot it.  Since I don't have time this morning to read and post I will come back later this afternoon and post.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, slept late and missed the wind and 1" of rain overnight. When I pulled up the shades I was surprised to see everything wet. I heard on the weather yesterday there was a chance of some rain overnight but just heard on the TV that  it sure did rain and also more rain later.

LARRY  my son and DIL love the Honey Crisp apples and as soon as they were ripe they would pick most from the trees and keep them. They are pretty good keepers. He would share a few for his son and me. They are expensive here in the markets. Since his trees are almost all dead now he is pulling them out and he goes to a huge orchard over the state line in Conn.  When bold is black it is pretty clear, it is the ones in color that are blurry and hard for me to read
but have never complained about  it.

MARY ANN  if you have trouble reading my posts just skip them. I do know about resizing font size.

JANE  will you come here and give me 10 lashes with a wet noodle? Would be worth quitting if that happened. I have been with this group since the old place with Bis Busy Nest. Not many of us here that first met in the Nest. I used to love the toasted coconut covered marshmallows. Wonder if they still have them. Have not been into a market in several years now so don't know what is new or that I might like.

LLOYD  I would love to meet you and Nancy but there would be no place to park your RV here. Then you would not want to head here in the north east at this time of year. I live in Rhode Island, the little tiny state in New England. Just because Island is part of the name you would not believe the people who have asked me what  coast this island was off of. We are not  an island.

JUNE  good seeing you here this morning and see you have got the post problem. Some day maybe I will if some stop complaining about my posts.

JANE  know how you feel about getting the candy making finished. I used to feel like that, too.

JENNY  I stood at the top of a small hill on skies once and said no way so got a sled instead and enjoyed that.

JANE  I would like to get a new keyboard, this one skips a space between letters and at times I miss it so the word will be broken when I post.

SHIRLEY  my oldest grandson went to Arizona to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter and SIL and he left for San Diego early Friday morning so he avoided the week end traffic.

AMY  you are so right about how we worry about our kids and grands when they are traveling. Never ends.

LLOYD  I feel like quitting but am too stubborn and if some have trouble reading my posts they can skip them.

Thanks Larry and Amy

Shirley,  Em texted about 6:30 last night that she was home and had gone to the grocery store.

There's a Strong Cold northwest wind here this morning.  Just walking the length of the driveway and back to get the paper made my nose snuffly.  Guess it's another stay-home-from-church day.   :(   They're going to forget who I am.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere has an Enjoyable Day.

I am officially no longer a property owner. I sold my condo and signed off all the legal papers and have the money in the bank. So all I have to do is bask in my retirement.

Got home from church after a quick stop at the store for some stuff I forgot.  Now I'm ready.

RADIOMAN, I often wish I could do that.  Enjoy it!

I might be missing for a while.  My keyboard doesn't want to work.  Frustrating!

Shirley

Good to hear Em is already back in her nest, Callie, we have near white out right now. Was rain when I left for church, came out to sleet & by the time we had McDonalds breakfast, it was snow & blowing horizonal...seriously! I had to run by the store for bread, (can't live without bread...) was in only a few minutes & came out to windshield covered with snow/ice, so back on with the super window warmer.

Miss Callie (MamaCat) wanted out last night but was at the door at 4:30 am when I got up, she's had breakfast & sleeping by the furnace vent under the sink. Tiger is sleeping on the other vent in the kitchen. Tom is sleeping on my bed. They all had a look out & decided this was no weather to be out in!  I'm not sure how much new snow is coming down or if it's just being picked up & blowing, the wind is noisy!

Gloria, when we were talking about what was best for everyone's eyes, I must have missed that colors don't work well for you... I will switch to black if it helps. My eyes are giving me fits, still read without glasses but distance far & not so far are not keeping with glasses. Too bad we can't have eyes that will "auto focus" like the digital cameras now (maybe some day?). I think back when using the old 35mm cameras & all of a sudden my photos were coming out fuzzy... That started this roller coaster with the eyes, being both a little NEAR & a little FAR sighted, then no glasses worked to see the dash of the car. (My excuse for a couple tickets... not really), but I'm convinced that by straining my eyes to see the speedometer with the distance glasses, it made the near vision go bad. I still read without glasses but watching TV across the room is clearer with prescription glasses from 15-20 years ago, not the ones made the last couple years, they are too strong for inside the house. Don't mean to whine but it's a surprise.

Have to grin at your mention of the kids wanting US to report in when we get home, Amy, mine do the same. As I left McDonalds while ago I told my son that I was going to the store so not "straight home".  ;)

My Windows 10 version of PSP is due to be delivered today, if it comes & I can install and figure it out, I'll post a photo of our blizzard. Don't hold your breath, that's a whole lot of "IFs".  :crazy2: Better get on with my day, didn't get much sleep last night so will try for a nap today.

I am glad I brought up a bucket of sand for the sidewalk... it works better than ice melt... thanks to the gophers it was no effort on my part to just scoop those mounds they build into a bucket. I found a new use for those 20 pound plastic cartons of TidyCats... I cut off the bottom end & angled down the sides to make a big scoop, since the handle is already on the side. Didn't have to dig out a shovel! Next one I will cut neater, got plenty of those "jugs".

The pool guy didn't want to use them as "spacers" in the pool water so ice would have "give" during hard freezes & not damage the sides of the pool. Hope he is right, I will be very upset if there is damage when we open in the spring. We've put milk jugs (half full of water to keep them from blowing out) in every winter for 30 years, someone told us to do it so we did. Hard for me to change my ways.  ::)

Jane, the keyboard is probably just acting up because of updates, my computers have given me fits lately because of updates, just wait a while & restart & they are okay. Good luck!

Don, good to see you, glad to hear you sold your condo so fast. My neighbor put his house on the market some time ago & think he listed with the wrong agent... not seeing any lookers so wonder if it's being advertised. We know when ours was put on the market with a relocation company, I was told later that various agents complained they couldn't get in the "lock box" for keys to show it. Many of the companies get paid for taking care of property (like having yards maintained, etc) so drag the selling out. Instead of paying for utilities your money can earn interest, right? Are you getting into the Christmas spirit yet? I hope you didn't get rid of your Santa suit... Have you made many new friends since the move?

Gloria, whatever  you did to your post, keep it up.  It showed up loud and clear.  I'm sorry my blue is blurry for you, but it is my identification so I can find my post if necessary.  I'll change the font to see if that helps.

Shirley, too bad  you are having a snow/sleet problem; we probably will get it in a few days and I saw something about a Winter Weather Advisory.

I am tired from our Thanksgiving yesterday, but it was good and such good memories.  The twins were so well behaved.  They will be two in February.  There were eight adults and the two girls.  Alicia fixed the turkey in a bag and it turned out very moist and tasty.

My computer keyboard skips spaces too but it seems to be after certain letters and I have to watch the 'n' because if often doesn't show up and I have to backtrack.

Dot and I did our usual, eating out, but I did not go to church this morning.  I was quite tired from our Thanksgiving dinner.

Don, it was good to hear from you.  Selling your condo is one less thing for you to worry about so maybe you can post more often.  We like to hear from you.

Shirley,  your weather report makes me doubly glad that Miss Emily headed back yesterday.
Ummm......Near sighted + Far sighted + "can't see the dashboard" =  Trifocals!!!!    ;D   (I tried them; made me dizzy; now have stronger bifocals and take my glasses off to read and work on the computer.

I made it to church!  All of the OTL group was there but none of us was interested in going anywhere but home afterwards.  Still cold, cloudy and very windy.  I think all the leaves in my yard blew into the garage....well, maybe "a lot of them".   ;D

Have made more sliders for Grandson.  If he doesn't start out in time to come by, I'll have them with soup.

Good Afternoon Everyone....

Not sure what is causing you to make

something on your keyboard??  To make it
sticky and hard to type on?

Good luck in finding out what is your problem......

Have read all your lovely posts, and in spite of our computers and keyboards mis-behaving, we still  keep trying. Can't keep us stubborn Seniors down

I am staying in my nightgown today. Woke up at 4 a.m. feeling blah so decided to just take the day off, and enjoy. I did a lot of Bible reading and enjoyed that. Had a breakfast of yogurt, a banana, a glass of metamucil and a couple cups of coffee. The coffee is because I like the taste of it, the metamucil is to keep the bowels cleaned up, the banana and yogurt are essential to my Gut problems, and along with all that, I have had my nitro patch put on, My thyroid pill taken first of all, then four more pills that I take with breakfast. I will have 8 more pills before I close my eyes tonight.

I'm sure you found all that very interesting and enlightening. Whatever, it keeps the body operating sufficiently. Beggars can't be chooser.

Radioman, I am so glad you have unloaded a big responsibility and I'm praying that you are adjusting to your new style of living. I sold my home12 years ago, and am in my second care facility. I have been here at Rowntree Gardens for nearly two years, and it is the best move I ever made. It is operated by the Quakers, it is a non-profit organization, all faiths are welcome. three meals a day...huge meals...housekeeping weekly, change of bed linens, scrubbing, every week, vacuuming and dusting every other week. Clinic downstairs in my building, R.N. on duty 24/7. Son lives close by. I could not ask for more. I hope the same for you my friend.

We are have a semi-cloudy day, a bit on the cool side..perfect day to just relax and do what I choose...nothing. See you later. June

As long as we are here, let's dance.

Lloyd Hammond

well I am checking things out again and am still not happy how they are set up now used to come in here where I left off. i will take my laptop with us and park someplace where I can hook  up on a free internet connection. and stay in touch. woe it is snowing crazy here now. must be Shirley's fault she just turned it loose and let it dump on us. started out very large flakes and has sized down to fine but closer to gather. visibility is not good at all. I got out early and fed stock before it started snowing. I shut the horses in the lot was going to hook them up but not now. a friend stopped buy to check on us. and said any thing i can do for you. I said yes as you are already wrapped up go out on your way and go let the horses out I am not going out and work them in this snow. now I am going back to couch and fiend a good western on the TV and most likely take a Nap. Have a great rest of the day.

Lloyd

Mary Ann

JaneS, I have had similar things happen here and I have always thought it was the letter that was causing it, or my typing.  I could tell what you typed, but I know how frustrating it is.

Thanks to all who typed and coded their copy; I could read all but Lloyd's.  My Spell Check is working overtime with a red line under each letter until the end.  I'm not going to complain.

I did not go to church today because I was tired after our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday.  I did go to breakfast with Dot and had a nap after I was home a while.  I feel much better now, more like a human being.

Mary Ann

Shirley

Looks like the snow moved on east (sorry Lloyd).... the wind is wagging the trees back & forth like an ambitious old lady sweeping the floor, only "the brooms are upside down". Those tall lanky trees down by the river are swaying so much it almost makes one sick to watch. The pool area is full of plate size sycamore leaves from across the street and a house west of us, & lots of other leaves that are not from MY trees! So far I have not seen any bags of leaves out for trash other than in MY driveway... I think I am done.

Callie, can't do trifocals because that middle part of the glasses is where I need the strongest help for driving. Since I messed up my vision looking at the dashboard with the distance perscription, the last pair of glasses I had made, I found an old pair that worked fine for seeing the speedometer... took them in to the ophthalmologist to see if he would okay that for the bifocal part. He did & they do pretty good. I also had a pair made without any bifocal & a number of old pairs that work for around the house.

Oh, didn't realize what time it is, gotta feed cats! Miss Callie has not been out all day & I'm not sure she ventured into the utility room to use that litter box. The other two know there's 3 they can use in the house/basement, but Callie only knows about the 2 in the garage and she doesn't want to go out. They are a worry.........

larryhanna

Jane, did you have chocolate covered marshmallows for your lunch?  :2funny:  I would have been tempted.  Getting your candy finished for the holidays is something that is worth shouting about as that is a really big job.

Jenny, being in your nice warm home and watching football or reading is sure better than being on bad roads.  I am currently watching your Denver Broncos play Pittsburg and at the moment are leading by 3 points.  I bet the little ones are looking forward to learning to ski.

Shirley, I haven't heard any news today but I expect a lot of travelers are not having fun today as they try to get home on planes or in their cars.  At least your kids are close enough that if you had a problem getting home they could come to your aid.

Callie, from the weather report I saw it sounds like Kansas City was in the path for some drifting snow.  Glad your granddaughter didn't wait until today to drive back.  I always hate it when I put a hold on books and they become available at the same time.  How do you keep them straight if you read all three at the same time?

Sandy, do you have tumbleweeds in Maine?

Lloyd, you and Nancy are retired now so no need to rush things.  Are you getting snow today?

June, good advice to Lloyd about keeping Nancy happy.  This is a lesson I think most of us men learn fairly early in our married lives.  Cold showers are not going to happen for me.

Don, congrats on selling your condo.  It is always a worry when we have a home for sale.  I will have to do this one more time unless I am no longer around and then Pat or our son will have to deal with selling it.  However, I hope that is a few years off.

JaneS

Hello, Everyfriend!  I'm going to try typing this on word pad and then transferring it to the Soda Shoppe.
Sandy, it isn't the keyboard because it works fine everywhere else such as here on word pad.  And no, I didn't spill anything on it. If I did, it would be in everything I try to type.

This afternoon, I rolled potpie and cut the squares to dry.  This is the PA Dutch Slippery Pot Pie.  It isn't a "pie" as such.  The squares are cooked with potatoes and carrots in a chicken and broth mixture.  It's an actual German dish that my grandfather used to make and he has passed it on to my mother and then me.  My sister doesn't make it because she never really liked it when she was growing up.  I love it and I'm seeing it being passed to my Texas daughter and both of her daughters.  It's one of the recipes that Ali (mother of Emma) already has in her files.

Now it has to sit around and dry so I can put it in plastic bags and wrap it for Christmas.  They probably know it's coming and would be disappointed if it didn't but it's fun.

Today was a bit warmer than it's been around here but it stayed really foggy all day and that made for a dreary day.  I'm glad I didn't have to go anywhere after church.

LARRY, I test the candy as I go but I don't eat a lot of it until I'm sure I haven't missed anyone on my list.  I can always make up a mixed bag for someone if I need it.

I hope you've all had a wonderful day and I hope I can get this posted.  If you see it, I did OK.  If you don't, I didn't
