Hi, Buddies...

Jeanne...it seems to be valsartan,  and the 100 mg Losartan.  Here's the FDA website that lists the recalls and their lot numbers:

https://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/DrugRecalls/default.htm

Darlene...hope you feel better soon.

Sharon...glad you got a place for Bunny while you go to see your girls.

Sue...hope your weather has improved.

Mary...hope the arm/wrist is improving.

We went over to Brownsville to the big HEB (grocery stores here in Tx) and it was packed as usual, but we can get things there we can't get at our local HEB.  Ray likes their salmon and cod, and some breads he can get there.  He's feeling ok...and working on improving his breathing with the gizmo they sent home with him.

jane

Beautiful day here.

SharonE

Jane, so glad Ray is up to going out and is working on his breathing.  Sounds like things are looking up.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  Tim and I had a terrible mix-up this morning.  He was supposed to come and take me to my GP for my annual check-up.  I waited a long time past the appointment time to call him and then had to call the GP's office and reschedule for Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. which he didn't like much, but I didn't know what else to do.  Believe me not being able to drive my car is the PITS!  And 10:00 a.m. Wednesday is really not good for me, either, as I have bridge club at 1:00 and have no idea if I'll be home in time for my ride to Carolyn's! I should have called Tim earlier, but he's always so prompt that I didn't.

Jane, I'm glad Ray is feeling better and hope the new meds will help a lot.  Is your niece still there visiting?

Sharon, I'm sorry the cold is still hanging on.  Are you drinking lots of liquids and staying hydrated?

Mary, I'm with you cheering for Clemson.  They were our biggest rivals when Bob and I were students at South Carolina, but I sure would love to see them beat the stuffing out of Alabama this evening!  And Bill got his PhD there, so I did have to go up there for his graduation!  I like Dabo Sweeney, too.  He's got a fun personality as well as being a good coach. (for those who don't know--Dabo is a nick name he was given as a child as he was often called "that boy" and he could only say DA BO!)

I guess I'll do a load of laundry and read the rest of the day since I'm not going to the doctor's office.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Sue

Cottoncandy

Good mornin...almost noon..feeling better..mopped and cleaned bathrooms good ...walked a mile......the b/p recall of Losartan 100mg is what I take...but neither Dr or Pharmacy has notified me about it...guess I will wait till my next Dr appt and ask him about it....haven't read all comments so will just say everyone have great day Darlene

JeanneP

I just do not have faith in Dr. and their giving of Prescriptions anymore. I only take the Blood Prescription other that if some thing comes up once in awhile to take for 7 days. Last year I had a nerve problem in my leg.Sort of like bugs crawling. Got passed from on Dr. to another first one gave me a proscription for one at 20 Mil. Made me dizzy and he told me not to take them.so he sent me to a therapist. Who then sent me to a specialist who then sent a prescription for the same Med only this time 40 mil. Good thing the pharmacist caught it and called me . Told me many could not take this drug.  I finely just gave up. Took Advil for a week and did some leg stretching. sort of forgot the thing and after a short time the problem just went away.
When it comes to the Blood Meds. None of them seem to know which ones to put you on. They just Say will try another if you say one not working. Decided to see if I can get off them by watching what I eat and exercising more.  One of my Doc. Say mine is O.K for age and then the other says to high.Go figure....
JeanneP

SharonE

I'm very cautious about taking new drugs too and always check them out with Melanie as John has been retired so long, he is no longer up on the newer drugs.

Our computer guru was here this AM and solved a bunch of problems. John was having problems with his email, we were trying to download a Tauck app on my La Pan pad, but apparently it is too old and wouldn't download it. Then he got my "smart sockets" working and connected to my Alexa so that I just have to tell her to turn the lights on in any given place.  Then he worked on my Nest thermostat and got it connected to my phone so that I can program it on it.  The smart sockets were a Christmas gift from Lori who also gave me the Alexa. She's trying to drag me into the new tech world. Actually, she thought it would be helpful if I didn't have to get up to turn lights on or off and she's right, but I couldn't get it to work without help.

John's playing bridge for the first time in several weeks because of his eye surgeries, but just here in Sun City.  Wed he gets fit for new lenses for his glasses, then he will be able to drive farther distances and to Charlotte. He has cheaters for reading, but that doesn't help his distance vision.

Sue, sorry about your doctor's appt mixup with Tim. He must have forgotten to put it on his calendar.

I'm feeling a little better today. I got all the laundry done over the weekend, but we still need to fold it and put it away.

The roofer didn't show up again this AM! :tickedoff:

It's overcast, but no rain today.  Hi to all. Glad you're better, Darlene.  Sharon

Cottoncandy

Sharon..my kids got me the Alexia for Christmas to..but I don't have the smart sockets...of course I'm having to learn about it....so it's challenging....Darlene

jane

Afternoon, Buddies!

Please take care of yourself, Sharon

Darlene...glad you're feeling better.

Sue...oops...coordinating calendars is difficult.

Jeanne...you are so right on the BP meds and some cholesterol ones, as well.

Mary....hope your wrist/arm is continuing to heal well.

Marilyn...hope the eyes are clearing for you.

Not much shaking here...a doc appt this morning with ARNP Ray first saw who started us on this journey, and he's very nice...he listens and you feel as if he's really listening.  We'll see him again in two weeks. I have more faith in him that the pulmonologist who doesn't seem to keep office hours!  The oncologist said we didn't need him, so we'll cancel that "maybe he'll be in" appt.  and rely on Robert.

We stopped at a cafe for lunch when I saw they had sausage tortellini soup...and he ate a large bowl.  Patricia and I had a good chicken salad on spinach and a side salad.  She has to eat gluten free, so it's not always easy to find places here with those items on their menus.

I have a haircut at 4:00 and then home to relax.

We were just told that another of Ray's nieces [this one from Montana] insists on coming down with Donal and the boys on Wednesday.  He tried to discourage, but she wouldn't call and let us know.  She's going to "surprise" us, I guess...or blindside us, if you look at it that way. Patricia told us this morning.  It's fine with Ray, so we'll deal.  She is one of those people who means well....but....

JeanneP  I have restless leg syndrone & I get a feeling of bugs crawling on my legs   I usually get it in the evenings , also sitting in church .  Its very annoying & some times painful .  I jiggle my legs & it seems to help . When I go to bed it stops .
I seem to be allergic to so many drugs I don't care to try new ones . I carry a list of the drugs I'm allergic to .

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but other than my shower and hair washing, haven't managed to get anything else done.  I hope to clean up more fallen leaves (maybe!) today, but don't know if I'll get to it.

Alpiner, I'm sorry the restless leg syndrome and feeling bugs crawling on your legs has bothered you so much recently.  I wish there were something that would help relieve the feeling.  I assume you've talked to your doctor about it.

Darlene, I can sympathize with you about doing something new like Alexa.  I am a fuddy duddy when it comes to learning new things.  So far none of my kids have pressed anything new on me.

Jane, I hope the meds and attention from the new doctor (who sounds like a real winner!) will be helpful to Ray and give him relief.  Keep us posted.  Good luck with the "pushy" niece!  I can't imagine someone being so forward when she has to know that Ray needs to rest.

I was supposed to go to my "Circle" meeting for church, but don't know the hostess nor where she lives, so am going to play hooky today.  I have bridge tomorrow as well as an appointment with my GP, so that will be a busy day--and one like that is enough for this week!

Sharon, I'm sorry about the roofer not showing up--and glad for the computer guru for solving problems for you.  I don't do much on the computer any more except for posting here and e-mailing a few relatives.  I need to call my sister Anne today since I'll be home.  I never call her on Wednesday as that is her Canasta day.  She sent me a book a friend wrote some years ago--which Anne has never read--the woman who wrote it is our youngest sister's age and is married to one of my high school classmates.  I keep up with them by e-mail.  They have recently moved to Tennessee to be near their daughters.

Jeanne, I hope you're having a good day.

And also every Buddy looking in!  Have a nice day!
Sue

SharonE

Hi Gals.  Darlene, I found the Alexa very challenging to get hooked up and finally had to ask a computer guru here to help me.  I think the problem was my older phone though.  Anyway, both she and the sockets are working nicely now.  Good luck with yours.

Sue, hope you enjoy the book your sister sent and that you get more leaves raked. Good luck with cards tomorrow and your dr's appt.

Jane, I'm so glad you found such a good dr. there and also that you can dispense with the pulmonologist. Ray must be feeling better to eat a big bowl of soup.  Sorry about the pushy niece.  I'm sure she is just concerned and feeling guilty that Patricia is there, but to bring the whole family at such a time is an imposition IMHO.

Mary, check in and tell us how your hand is now.

My cleaning girl was here for the first time since before Christmas and boy was I glad to have her.  I had asked her (I think) to plan on 4 hrs, but she had to pick up a nephew at the airport, so hope that next time she can get some extra stuff done.

John and I may go over to Burlington's across the street in a bit. He needs some new slacks for his trip. I also want to see if they have some casual winter coats for sale for me. The one I have is getting pretty shabby.  Don't know if they will have either one since I haven't been there before.

It's breezy today with broken clouds and supposed to hit 62 then back down to the 50's the rest of the week.

Alpiner and Jeanne...I've heard restless leg syndrome is a real painful and difficult thing.

Sue...enjoy bridge.  I don't think I"ll be playing here this year.

Sharon...I hope you can find what you want at Burlington in your new shopping place.

Mary...hope all is well in TN.

We met Ray's golf friend and wife for lunch on the Bay today.  It was very sunny and pleasant to eat outside without bugs around.   We stopped at the local grocery store for a few items and are now back to the condo and Ray's taking his usual afternoon nap.

Patricia sorted through the very confusing directions the Lab woman gave us for the PET scan and the CT scan...she had highlighted things...and then wrote NOT on the side and highlighted that.  Why would you highlight what we're NOT supposed to do?  I'd have drawn a big X or something through the "don't do" section and highlighted the "do" section.  I guess everyone's mind works differently.  Patricia got through to the oncologist's nurse who spoke directly to him about the dye...and Ray's kidney function...and then to the RN who does the PET and ct scan for the correct directions.  What a relief to have the correct information.

Time to relax and do some fluff reading.   :2funny:

Hi Buddies - guess I haven't posted in a while.  Just nothing much going on.  My hand is doing fine.  The steri-strips fell off right after the gauze bandage came out.  The opening is in the crease at the base of the heel of my hand, and is about 1/2" long - not much at all.

I hadn't been to duplicate since before Xmas, and played last night.  We were tied for last out of 8 pairs - terrible cards, awful bidding, and not much better play.  Just one of those nights.
 Oh, well...

Glad to see that everybody's recovering from the holidays - and doing reasonably well with various health issues.  One of my swim buddies died yesterday.  Her husband of almost 62 years died around Thanksgiving.  She had Parkinson's and had not been doing well.  Her family says she just wanted to be with him.  They'll be missed.

I'll try to be better about writing.  And BTW - Hooray for Clemson!!!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

YES! Mary....HURRAH for CLEMSON.  I loved the game.  I'm sure SUE did, too.

alpiner1

My restless leg syndrone probably has some connection to my back problem . I have scoliosis ( curvature of the spine from a childhood injury ) .

maryz

Interesting, alpiner.  I have scoliosis, I don't know why - maybe the osteoarthritis.  But I don't have the restless leg syndrome.  Hmmmmm!  Guess I shouldn't worry about what I DON'T have  :) .  I hope neither one is causing you too much trouble.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Alpiner, I have restless leg syndrome and leg cramps from time to time. Started taking Magnesium chloride 250 mg and seldom have a problem now. Probably should check with your dr. though.

Mary, glad your hand has done so well. Sorry about the bridge. John had a bad round Monday too and is going to play in Charlotte today. He's driving and hasn't got his new glasses yet, so I'm not too happy with him. He went to the dr. today to get fit with new lenses.

Jane, I'm glad you got all the directions clarified for Ray's tests.  Take it easy today and relax. You've had a lot of stress.

I'm going to the library & grocery in a few minutes, but not looking forward to it.

Marilyn, I hope your eyes have cleared up and that K continues to improve.

It's sunny and in the 50's here today. Sharon

jane

Hi, Dear Buddies,
You don't know how much I appreciate your support.  We went shopping this morning after having breakfast at "Isabel's Cafe" a place we kept saying we wanted to try...always full of cars.  A very nice, clean, bright place with both American and Mexican foods at very reasonable prices.  We also stocked up on "munchies" and beer and wine for the onslaught of company arriving at 4:30 or so this afternoon.  I've swiffered the tiles and will vacuum the big area rug when Ray wakes up from his nap.

I hope Marilyn's eyes are healing and Alpiner can find some relief from the restless leg.

Sharon...hope the shopping doesn't wear you out.

Sue...good cards at bridge?  I do miss playing, but it's just not possible now.

I'll be up to my ears in company until Sunday afternoon, so I may not be around much.

jane

Marilyn

Eyes are doing great saw the eye DR. yesterday and will have the final pot op appointment the end of this month, then we will see if I need glasses.

I have to spend my share of the Part D before I can get the Eliquis from the company for no cost. So I paid $187. for 30 day supply  yesterday.

I fired the Occupational therapist because she was so condescending to Keith treating him like a total invalid which he isn't. She also insulted the intelligence of the caregiver and talked down to me as well.

He no longer needs a walker or a gate belt and can take a shower by himself. She suggested that I need to hire a full time live in caregiver. Not gonna happen that's what I am. Grrrr makes me mad just telling all y'all about it.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  We're having a bright sunshiny morning, but a very chilly one.  I'm still in my P.J.'s and need to shower, but am getting my nerve up--I think I can make it a quickie with hot water if I let it run for a bit.

Marilyn, I'm sorry the caregiver was so unpleasant.  Good for you for firing her! Can you report her behavior to her boss?  I think you'll probably need someone part-time for when you need to go out, but that's your decision.  You know what's best for Keith!  Keep us posted.  I'm glad your eyes are doing so well post surgery!

Jane, I wish you luck with your visitors.  I hope they don't wear you and Ray to a frazzle and don't overstay their visit.  I didn't have good cards yesterday, but enjoyed my friends, especially as I played the last round with my closest ones.

Sharon, it's sunny here today, too, but pretty chilly.  I need to rake up more leaves and take them either to the leaf pile down at the end of my lot or put them out on the curb for Monday's pick-up, but I have a good book going, so might not do either!

Mary, how cold is it in your neighborhood?  I know it's still winter, but I'm hoping for an early spring--but I know when the really hot temps get here, I'll be sorry!  Do you have pain from the scoliosis?  I certainly hope not!

Alpiner, I'm sorry about the back pain and hope you get some relief, soon!  My sister Anne also has scoliosis and often has back pain.  She had back surgery several years ago but it didn't relieve her pain.  Take care with lifting and other activities that put stress on your back.

Jane, you're right about my joy about Clemson's big win!  Although I'm a South Carolina Grad, I'm really happy for Dabo and his splendid team.  And Bill got his PhD at Clemson, so I have to cheer for them a little bit--just not when they play Carolina!

Sharon, I already had a copy of the book Anne sent me--the hubby, Doug, was the president of my Senior High School class and his wife who wrote the book is 5 years younger and a friend of my youngest sister, Linda.  So I mailed the copy to Linda and will be interested in what she has to say about it.  Doug and Patty have stayed overnight with me several times when traveling in Alabama.  They've recently moved to Tennessee to be near their daughters.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

maryz

Marilyn, hooray for the good results with your eyes.  Sorry about the OT. I agree with Sue, she should be reported to her employer.

Sue, it was in the 20s here this morning, and in the upper 30s now (11 a.m.), and breezy. But the sunshine is lovely!  They're still taking snow flurries for Saturday morning - but I don't really care since I don't have to go anywhere.  The scoliosis does cause back pain.  It's pretty constant, but not anywhere near where I'd consider surgery...especially with no guarantees.

jane, I hope the visitors don't wear you out too much, or keep Ray from getting needed rest.
We always seem to think we need to entertain guests, and it's hard to let them fend for themselves.  But...  Good luck, in any case.

Sharon, I hope your cold is mostly gone - even if the cough hangs on for a while.  Good luck with John and his driving.

alpiner, Darlene, Joy, Jeanne, (Oh, gosh - who did I miss) - anyhow, I hope you are all doing well today.  Anybody have any weekend plans?  I'm going to coffee with my swim buddies tomorrow, but that's it for me.  Hugs to all!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyn

I did report her. Sue it wasn't the caregiver,  it was the occupatioonal therapist from home health that I fired.

alpiner1

Tomorrow is our 61st anniversary . We plan to spend the day at a local casino .  Its a 35 mile drive from our home but we like that it is small , slot machines are loose & a prime rib dinner for $7.77 !
https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/golden-grill-restaurant-campo?select=g28f10GQwPzjkVPd5tB7cA

SharonE

Happy Anniversary, Alpiner.  Have fun at the casino.

Marilyn, good for you for firing the OT.  Some medical people act like they know it all and the rest of the world are idiots!  Glad you still have the home care coming in.  John ordered his new glasses yesterday, so he's happy with his eyes too. Got home safely yesterday.

When I went out to start the car to go to the grocery yesterday, it wouldn't start. Still wouldn't today. Guy next door is a good mechanic and he's going to put it on a slow charge tonight and see how that works.  I don't understand how the battery could be run down. It's fairly new and I've been driving it a ways, so it should have stayed charged.

Anyway, I took John's car today and got the groceries and renewed my library book.  It is over 400pp long and I've only read 319 so far.  It is a Dan Brown book called ORIGINS. It is interesting but like all his books rather strange.

Hi to Sue, Mary, Jeanne and anyone else I missed.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, just a hint for next time.  I'll bet you could have renewed your book online or over the phone - save you a special trip.  ;)
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy--and a big Happy 61st anniversary to Alpiner and hubby!  That's quite a milestone.

Mary, it's still pretty chilly here this morning also.  I've had breakfast, a shower, and dressed and am ready for Tim whenever he gets here.  We'll go to the library and to Kroger, then home to put the groceries away.  And probably meet Kris for lunch if she's not out on a job.  My computer in the den (where I'm sitting) has a large camellia bush just outside the window and it is covered today with lovely red blooms.  It's always the first to bloom in the front yard.  I do have 2 large white camellia bushes in back and they've been blooming for several weeks.

Marilyn, I'm glad you fired the uppity occupational therapist.  Did you get someone to replace her?  It's hard enough to have the worry of Keith getting the right person to help him without having someone who is so rude!  Keep us posted and I hope a replacement is a good one.

Sharon, I know John will be happy with his new glasses.  I had the cataract surgery not too long after Bob died and it has made a tremendous difference in how well I can see now.  I do have dime store readers which I use at night when I'm reading in bed as the light by my bed doesn't seem to be strong enough, but other than that, no glasses for me.

Tim should be here soon.  I haven't read all my library books from last week, so am keeping 3 here to finish.  So I'll probably only get a couple today.  I have several new books Kris gave me for Christmas that I haven't started--although I did read one of them last week.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

maryz

I know you enjoy those camellias, Sue.  It's way too early for them to be blooming this much farther north.

Sharon, would you please e-mail me the info about the Canadian pharmacy y'all use.  A friend here has been prescribed Eliquis and it's frightfully expensive.  Thanks.

I've been out to Panera this morning to have coffee with some of my swim buddies.  It's SO good to see them.  I'm looking forward to when I can get back to the pool with them.

Happy upcoming weekend, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Mary, I had already renewed my book which was on John's card, so I needed it checked out again on my card. The library is right near the grocery anyway.  I only have about 75 pp left, so will finish it today, I hope.  I will email you the info on the pharmacy.  I'm so glad you were able to have some time with your swim buddies. I know you enjoy them.  When do you think you'll be able to go back to swim class?  Bad weather predicted for the weekend that will probably involve you. I think we will get by with just rain.

Sue, you have a full day planned.  The new red camellia I put in out in front is blooming too.  Love them.

Jane, hope your company helps rather than hinders. Thinking about you both.

Didn't make it to Burlingtons the other day. May go today.
Sharon

maryz

Thanks for the info, Sharon. I won't get back to that class until it's light enough in the mornings for me to be comfortable driving - so probably at least another month or so.  And then off again when we go back onto DST.  Oh, well - it is what it is.  ;)

sherry send me the pharmacy infor as well. I just paid $187. for a 30 day supplly of Eliquis.

If anyone has an opnline source for  inexpensive glasses send me a link. Please.
