Jeanne...I assume it's Sharon posting on her FB page so her family and friends know how she's doing. I told her I was reporting her progress here.  She thanked me for that.  I imagine they keep her pretty busy with therapy for those two broken bones in her pelvis. I know if one doesn't do the therapy for that, it can be a real problem walking. A man here fell from a ladder at Christmas a year ago and broke something in his pelvis.  He wouldn't go to the doctor as scheduled and won't do the therapy.  He can barely hobble around now.

Fellow just brought us meatloaf and cornbread and a cherry pie for supper. I can't imagine baking in this weather!

Today's not a good day here for Ray. He's very unsteady and couldn't walk here in the house.  He also didn't take a nap and I think the heat and humidity are a problem for him, too.  I hope tomorrow is better.

jane

Jane...hoping tomorrow is a better day for Ray.....it's very hot and humid here. Also...sometimes I just walk 3 x a week....why don't you send me a friend request on FB and see if that works....Have a good weekend everyone

jane

I can't, Darlene. The only way I can see to contact you or ask to be your friend is through Messenger and you don't have that anymore.  Can you go to my site and request a friend invitation?

maryz

Darlene, I'm like jane.  I've gone to your site, but there's no place to click to "friend" you.  If you can find my page, I'll be glad to do it that way.
https://www.facebook.com/mary.zelle?ref  That's my page (I think).

Margaret and Sue got me home safe and sound.  We came back through Atlanta to pick up Margaret's car from Matt's house.  Sue drove in the rain all the way to Montgomery, but the heavy rain stopped almost as soon as we turned east on I-85 to go to Atlanta.  Just an occasional shower after that.  We're all home safe and sound now.  Amazingly there was no rain on my deck during the time I was gone.  I kept checking and the local news said there was rain in Chattanooga almost every day, but it certainly missed my plants.  They were pretty parched looking, but I hope they'll survive the watering they got as soon as I got home.

New Orleans is really getting hammered with this rain storm.  The rain started in our area during the night, and the water was still very high on the beach.  Much closer to the house than usual, but not nearly under the house.

In any case, it was a good week, with family and friends.  And, as always, it's SO good to be home!

Jane,Mary and Marylin...when I click on the FB site you highlighted...it tells me...this page not available...I may have to install messenger again to add yall....the reason I uninstalled messenger was because a lot of the messages I was getting was getting hacked...so I just uninstalled it...Have a great Sunday

jane

Darlene...how odd on getting so many messages on Messenger. I rarely get any and when I do, they're from people I know quite well.  Maybe you can find a setting to only get messages from Friends.  I don't know how they find all these people they suggest to me. I guess they're friends of friends or something.  I delete most of them and only accept when someone asks to be a friend and it's someone I know.

Sue...I see your President is leaving Auburn with a big $$ check.  That guy is something else.  When he was at Iowa State he caused so much damage to a plane he was piloting on apparently personal business that he had to repay thousands to get it fixed.  The University then sold that plane. I read in our paper here that the Trustees did a private search when they hired him and nobody knew until they announced they'd hired him.  Maybe they'll be more open this time and learn the facts before jumping in with the $$.

Mary...glad you and your girls are home safe and sound and your beach stay was a good one.

Sharon...thinking of you and we are all keeping you in the LIGHT for quick healing.

Jeanne...this heat and humidity here are awful and I'm sure your area is as bad or worse. Stay in and stay safe.

Joy...hope you're ok in BR.

Alpiner...Continue to hope you're safe from all the "shakin" going on there in CA.  Scary business.

JeanneP

Well I hear some thunder. Hope we get some rain tonight. We will because I put my bags at the end of drive for the Garbage men in the early morning.
Jane. Now I see why Sharon still in. I didn't realize she was hurt so bad. I don't remember now just how long Sue was in. She seems to be doing so well now other than not driving car. Hope Sharon will be able to still do that has she using car a lot.

Maybe when weather cools down a little. Your husband will feel up to doing more moving around. I get to sitting more in this hot weather. Don't like it. Have a problem with skin getting sun on it. Always had it since small so keep well covered.
Glad you now back home Mary. Sounds like you had you usual good time. Got together with family that way is fun.

Good morning, Buddies.  Tim was over here early this morning as I had my semi-annual appointment with my GP.  He is a retired military doctor who moved up here after his retirement because his wife was originally from the Auburn area.  He gave me some exercises to do and discussed the problem with my right leg. I'm continuing to wear the right leg brace when I'm walking outside (but that is a pain in the neck because that brace makes my leg feel HOT!).  Tim called the place where I get my mammo's now and we'll go there soon.  It's rather close to my house.

Jane, I think I've just become used to HOT ALABAMA WEATHER!

SCFSue

I wanted to add more, but the caps lock key somehow was hit and I've had to fiddle around with my key board to get back to regular typing.

Jane, the word is out and the Iowa jerk who was the president here for 2 years was forced out.  Our friend Dr. Gogue who preceded him and retired has agreed to come back and stay until he can get the Iowa mess cleaned up.  He and his wife Susie are church friends who have really been a plus for Auburn during his tenure and since his retirement.  They sit in front of me (and the other widows) on Sunday.  However, the board of Trustees gave the Iowa jerk a huge pay out to make him leave.  Not a very smart move IMHO!  He should have repaid AU for the amount of time he wasted here!

Jeanne, I hope you (and me!) get some rain tonight.  It is really hot here today and we could use a nice refreshing rain.

Sharon, I hope you're home and feel like posting--even if just to say Hello.  I'm praying the surgery will be VERY HELPFUL!  Let us know how you're feeling.  Big Hugs for a speedy recovery!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy!  Hello to Marilyn, Darlene, Joy, and Every Buddy looking in.  Mary, I hope you've had a safe trip home and are rested up!

Sue

Sue...I couldn't believe it when they hired that guy after Iowa State fired him...well, let him out of his contract early...and Auburn paid for what he "missed" out on...and now he's leaving early from Auburn with more $$ than if he'd stayed his 5 year contract.  The Board of Trustees or Regents (political appointments here) are so-called "businessmen" who don't know anything about education and what's needed.  U of Ia has a guy who never was involved in administering a large research university and huge medical school.  He's a waste of $$, too.  The days of Presidents who were actually well educated and knew how universities needed to be run are, apparently, long gone.

I've been out twice...to the library and to the grocery...and now I'm in. It's in the 90s out there!

jane

Marilyn

I had my Mammogram yesterday, They were supposed to do the ultra sound too but that person called in sick so that will be done on Thursday.  Kathy who did the mammo,  did the right breast twice and ask if I had lost any weight. No I haven't lost weight. However  that breast  hurt when the machine squeezed it in the vertical position. No she has me worried. I came home and did a manual exam on myself and  both seem to be the same. Oh well it is what it  is, I better not dwell on that and just wait for the results.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I'm still upset about the amount of money the AU trustees gave Leath to get rid of him.  A terrible waste of Auburn's money, IMO!  However, I am glad he is gone and we have Dr. Gogue (former president) who will be the interim until they find another person to replace Leath.  Jay Gogue and his wife Susie are such lovely, friendly people and very dedicated to Auburn.  I think Jay attended AU as an undergraduate.  Jane, I hope Iowa doesn't re-employ Leath!

I've been up, dressed, had breakfast and am waiting for my Maid Service (who clean here every 2 weeks) to arrive.  I hope they get here soon as I have a dental appointment for a cleaning at 10:00 and will be picked up by a Village Friend, who is also a church friend. I've written the check for the Molly Maids and if they don't get here before I leave for the dentist, they will see the check on my kitchen table.

Not much else to report today.  It's going to be another scorcher here.  By the time I get back from the dentist, it will probably be way too hot for a long walk, but I'll cut my walk short just so I can get some outside exercise.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

maryz

Marilyn, I hope all is well with your mammogram.  We all feel such apprehension when it's that time - no matter how long it's been since our original diagnosis.

Sue, stay inside.  You don't need "outside" exercise in the middle of the day.

jane, I hope your getting around is at least somewhat easier with the portable oxygen and transport chair.

I think Sharon said she would be coming home tomorrow.  I hope that's so - I know she'll be happier there.  I'm so afraid of falling and doing some damage - it does make me extra careful.  And I know Sharon will be, too.

I got to play bridge last night - and extra-point night.  My partner and I got 0.41 MP - first we've gotten in some time.  At least we finally got some cards to bid and play.

I'm still getting rested up from the beach week.  I was awake for an hour or so about 2 a.m., but went back to sleep in the chair until nearly 7, then up for breakfast, and back to the chair to sleep again until almost 10! Maybe even nap again this afternoon - who knows!  :)

Another scorcher day here, too...and no rain - not even from Barry.  I think one of my hibiscus plants is a goner from the lack of rain (and watering) while I was gone.  I've trimmed it back, so we'll see if it survives.

Happy Tuesday to ALL the Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Sue...Believe me Iowa State (in Ames) had their fill of Leath.  I hope AU learns not to take the guys ISU is glad to get rid of...that football coach...Chezik or some such spelling and then Leath. Stay inside and safe, please.

Mary...scorcher here too and excessive heat warnings out for tomorrow through Sat. night.  I find it excessive now!
I, too, am so afraid of falling and I'm forever tripping over the oxygen tubing.  Ray's having some problems getting used to the portable and seems to need more oxygen in this hot and humid weather.  He's also losing more weight.  Another side effect of the chemos, I'm sure.

Marilyn...scary time. We all know that well, but try not to worry...easier said than done, we all know.

Jeanne...you, too, stay inside and safe. It's awful out there...and to get worse tomorrow through weekend here.

Sharon...sure hope you can get home tomorrow.

Alpiner...stay safe in CA from the shaking.

They are now giving out a heat warning here for the next 4 days. Say up to 105 deg from Thursday. Can't believe this heat.
Still feeling the effect of what they say was a Heat stroke I got yesterday from being stupid and weeding for 2 hours in the yard. Will not be that foolish again. Comcast man came for TV problem and I couldn't remember what the problem was. He said just to drink lots water sit down  and he would look everything over. Said he did the same thing last week. We just never have had such hot weather so don't realize what could happen

Be nice if Sharon can get home soon. But bet cooler in the place she in in and they can help her more than husband at home with things. She would be getting up moving to much. Us women don't know how to rest it seems.
But she will have friends coming in to help I hope.
JeanneP

jane

Jeanne! You know better now. Do NOT work outside in this weather!  You're lucky you didn't end up in the hospital.

We have the same warnings...and a hope for storm looks like it's passing right over us.

Jane

so_P_bubble

JeanneP we are having 107F now, going up more  and it is only 10 a.m. We got a big warning about staying inside and drinking lots of fluid. Cold showers also helps.
It is the worse we have had up to now.

JeanneP

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I think this high heat can be attributed to Global Warming.  The temperatures here are reaching the high 90's daily and almost 100* on many of them.  I've just returned from my morning walk.  I left the house as soon as I'd cleaned up my breakfast dishes.  I'm playing bridge this afternoon and hope Marilyn's AC is working nicely!

Jeanne, I agree with Jane.  I love to work in my yard, but I'm staying inside during these high temperatures.

Hi Bubble.  I hope you can get some relief from the heat.  We here in Alabama are used to high summer temperatures and lots of us (especially me) stay inside after lunch.  I often wait until dusk to walk in my neighborhood.  Also am hoping you'll be posting some more pictures of that very handsome Grandson soon!

Jane, I am delighted that the trustees finally realized they must get rid of Leath--but they paid a huge price IMO!  Jay Gogue, our former President and a good friend who attends our Presbyterian church along with his wife, Susie, are lovely people.  They usually go to their Colorado summer home during the summer, but I think they'll be staying in Auburn at least until Jay gets the ball rolling again.

BTW, Jane, AU didn't take long to get rid of Gene Chizik. If there is one thing AU hates it is an incompetent football coach!  I just hope they are more attentive to their other hires.  Unfortunately AU is like many football schools in loving football coaches!

Mary, as soon as I'd had breakfast I went outside and got my morning walk in.  It is going to be another scorcher here today.  When I first  moved here I often walked at dusk, but I soon became fearful of tripping and/or falling, so now try to get outside as early as possible.

Hello to Marilyn, Darlene, and whoever is looking in.  GinnyAnn, if you are checking up on us, I wish you'd leave a post!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Onc was surprised Ray has done as well as he has after 9 weekly chemos.  He'll give him next week off...and we can hopefully get a dental problem fixed...and give his body more recovery time.

Doc also asked about the transport chair...wants one for his Mom!

I had my yearly wellness visit, got the pap and all that fun stuff.  Have to have blood work sometime soon...hospital has the order, etc.

Gary took Ray up for his chemo...and I'll pick him up when he's finished.

Then inside for the rest of the day.

Wow, I feel like I read a book catching up on17 days of posts.  I'm sorry marilyn fell also, just glad it wasn't as serious.  They say a broken pelvis is one of the most painful breaks you can get, and I sure agree!  They can't do surgery or casting, it just has to heal from usage.  AT first I didn't think I had a chance, but, after 17 days, I'm home and walking on a walker, but still with lots of pain. I have to continue toe exercise. It will probably be 4 or 5 more weeks before it is healed.  Just so happy to be home.

Jane, glad Ray is doing well with his tx and will get a break for a while.

Mary, so glad you had a nice time at the beach and good bridge this week.

Darlene, I'm listed under Sherry Ede on FB.  I'll try to find you.

STAY OUT of the HEAT! All of you!  It's mid 90's here. and that's bad enough.  Sharon

 :hb2: Sharon's home!

Darlene...Terrible heat and humidity all over central and upper Midwest...and in the South, too.  Records here.

Frustrating day.  Ray's oxy tank ran dry at chemo...they usually switch him right away to their tank, but didn't today. So, guy came and took our tank and regulator and put hospital tank in our carrier....problem...I have to have our tank to exchange and I need the regulator to use any of our tanks.  This took two visits to the hospital and going through the locked cage where they store the used tanks for refilling and then back to go through the oxy closet to find where good ol Doug had put our regulator. I was NOT a happy camper by then.

Too hot here for this nonsense. Now off to Iowa City to see @bout his tooth extraction.

Stay inside  and cool!

Good morning, Every Buddy.  Yesterday was a lost day for me.  My bridge club was meeting at a new member's home and no one remembered that I needed to be picked up!  I was dressed and ready to go and sat here waiting for a long time.  Needless to say I was a bit miffed!

Sharon, I'm glad you are home and hopefully feeling better.  I've missed you and have been worried because of your absence from our forum.  Please stay in touch and keep us posted.  Prayers going up from here for a complete and quick recovery.

Darlene, I also try to get outside and walk every morning. However, it's 9:00 this morning and I'm still not dressed.  I am going to walk as soon as I finish here.  Have a nice day and be careful when you walk.

Jane, sounds like you've had a frustrating morning.  I hope you have straightened out the mix up and all will be well.  Hopefully the visit to the dentist will be smooth and Ray will have a nice day.

Mary, I hope you're rested and feeling well after your trip to the beach.  I envy you the trip!

Hi to Marilyn, Jeanne, Alpiner, and whoever else is looking in.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

I'm off to get dressed and walk around the block.

It was a good visit with a faculty member of the Univ of IA Dental College. He specializes in geriatric and medically fragile patients.  After he heard all of Ray's medical problems and how he had bled for 9-10 hours after his last extraction 10 yrs ago, he offered an alternative.  He took an X-ray, saw no infection and will fill the part of the wisdom tooth that lost part of its filling. Perfect! We were both relieved.

It was awful in Iowa City..97 actual degrees..and so humid ...

So glad to be home...may have more storms tonight.  We had a big one this morning about 6 am.

Stay cool and safe,

Jane

Good morning, Every Buddy.  Eddie arrived about 9:15--and I was not dressed yet!  He was patient, though, and didn't mind waiting.  I made him a cup of coffee and I got dressed and we went to the library first (I was able to find 6 books to read this next week) and then to Kroger. He helped me find things so that I didn't linger too long in looking.  I had to buy candy to take to the Retirement home next Tuesday (I bought Snicker's bars (if any are left over, I'll bring them home as they are a favorite treat!).

Jane, Woo Hoo on the new Dental College doctor.  It sounds as if he has a lot of common sense and has found a good solution for Ray.  We have storm rumblings here and I'm glad Eddie came early and we got to the library and then to Kroger, plus back home before the storm started.  He had a lunch date with one of his previous clients--and was happy to have that to do right after our trip to Kroger.

Sharon, I'm so glad you are home!  I've missed you and I hope your rehab is going well.  Do you have a cleaning service?  Don't try to do everything you usually do as a relapse would not be fun!  Hopefully John can help with some of the chores.  Keep us posted.  Thoughts and prayers going up from me here in Auburn!

Hello to Marilyn, Darlene, Jane, Sharon, Jeanne, Alpiner, and whoever is looking in.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Jane now I never knew that they filled wisdom teeth. Fact I don't know anyone who still has them.
I was glad to get rid of mine as there was no room for them to come in.i think I was about 50 for the last 2. Not been wise since.
This heat (102)  today with the humidity. Beginning to bother me. I have a problem with low sodium. Now I just poured salt on some chips see if helps. Just have no energy. Got. Bed stripped down and still not put together. Getting harder for me to do now. Wish I was back in a twin size. I only sleep in one place in a queen anyway

Hope sharan doing o.k at. Home. I thought they sent home help back home for a couple weeks.

Jeanne...I'm sure in younger and healthy people they do take them all.  I don't know why they didn't take all of them when they took out the one some years ago.  At any rate, I'm sure that's why they recommended extraction first last Oct. when Ray was healthy.  However, he's not now, so replacing the missing filling...obviously from years ago...is a better alternative for his situation.

Sue...glad Eddie was early and you're home now.

I went out to the grocery while our neighbor was visiting with Ray and it's awful out there...heat index earlier today was 104.  He and I are both tired from our day in Iowa City yesterday and with this hot weather and humidity neither of us is very hungry.

Now to finish up some laundry, get it put away and relax until our company arrives tonight.
