(https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/grin.png) I still don't have all those fancy icons but I love your "stuff" just as much as anyone else does, BUBBLE!  Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Today I heard the geese on the pond over behind the houses over yonder.  I think it's safe to say that Spring is on the way.  HOORAY!!!

I got a lot of things done that I've been avoiding and I'm afraid I'm the worse for wear.  All that pushing of sweepers and scrub rags and fetching and carrying is taking it's toll!  I think I'll just vegetate for an hour or so and then hit the hay.

I know it's early but if I don't say my good nights now, I'll probably forget.  SOOOOO....

Good night Everyfriend!  Sleep well and wake refreshed.  Tomorrow is another day.  And may God bless us, every one.

SHIRLEY, so sorry about your having to come home to wind damage.  I hope you find it easy to repair but it doesn't sound like you will!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This is an earlier start for me.  The doggies have been out and we're waiting for the pill boinger.  I have my first cup of coffee and I think I'm ready for whatever the day brings.

I'll be off to Wally World at 9 today so I'll be finished earlier than the days have been.  Depending on how my energy hold up, I might try to make it to the car wash.  My car needs to shed the winter crud.  Since I no longer drive in bad weather, it's not as bad as it's been in winters past but it's not as good as it could be.  I think  there's still a shine under there even if the car is 20 years old.

I wish you all a good day.  Make it you own in every way.

Shirley welcome home. Sad that you have a mess to deal with but knowing you it will be done and cleaned up fast.

Phyliss, I am sorry you are under the weather still. Is it the cold still lingering on?

Jane, this day long ago David put me in the hospital!! He wanted to be born!

Good morning everyone, raining but wow a whole 50°. Heat wave!

MARY ANN  great link to the Loo Locks. Wonder how long it really  took for those ships to get through. Not more than a few inches on either side getting through them. I sent the link to my son. On a cruise he and my DIL went through the Panama canal. I remember he said it was interesting and forget how long he said it took.

SHIRLEY  that must have been some wind you had.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new page and wonderful graphics. Love the way you got one of your frogs into the St. Patrick one.

PHYLLIS  you and me both. Don't feel like I should but will see my doctor in a little over a week so hope she can figure it out.

Have a good day.

Gloria, I'm glad you liked the Soo Locks and I hope your son enjoys the video.  It takes about a half hour for the ship to get into the lock, be raised or lowered and leave.  In one view at the Soo you can see the ship in the lock and watch it as water is put into the lock and the ship comes up.  Going in the other direction, letting the water out of the lock, the ship goes lower.  When they add water, ships are heading for Lake Superior and when the water goes out, the ship is headed for Lake Huron.

Good morning.  Too early for any "new" news.

Phyllis and Gloria,  sorry that you both are not feeling all that great this morning.  I hope as the day goes by, that you both will be feeling lots better.  I know when I first get up, sometimes I don't feel that great, but as the day goes by, I suddenly start feeling better.  I know this computer and sharing the time with all the Soda Shoppe friend surely does help.  I tend to just forget that I started out feel not go great.

Shirley, That sure must have been a big surprise to come home to see all that wind damage.  But, glad that you had such a nice time with your daughter and the other family group.  Nice that you could get a lot of information from the lady at the place where you stopped.

Jane, do hope that you will have a "not so busy" day at work today.  I would imagine that Saturdays are a busier day than Fridays.

Good morning, also, to Amy, Sandy, and Lloyd.  Thanks, Bubble, for the nice graphics and the cute jokes.  Great start for a new page.

In the random image on the left-hand side of the page is a picture of Lynn Franz.  He sure has been missing for along time, along with his day.  Would like to know how they both are doing.  I don't think they have been in here since all the changes were made.

Have a great day.

Hi Everyone on a cloudy South Carolina morning.  Once again we are to get to around 75 degrees and then quite possibly have rain this afternoon. Scott contacted Apple Chat Support yesterday and after some work was able to restore my disabled phone and then it restored my phone exactly as it was in terms of apps and the other features.  I was greatly relieved.  This time we didn't set up a password to get into the phone which makes it much easier for me to use and eliminates the possibility that I will forget the password again. I have been watching a lot of basketball this week and today will be no exception.  I have seen some great games, often decided by one point at the very end.

Bubble, I see you have done your usual fine work in getting us started on a new Soda Shoppe page for the rest of March.  The graphics are delightful, especially the little frogs and the spring flowers. Obviously the professor wasn't pleased with those answers.  I also liked the adage you shared about intentions.

Jane, always good to see the geese return each year.  Your speaking of sweeping and scrubbing reminds me of what my mother was doing toward the end of her doing days.  They had a housekeeper who came but Mother wanted to be sure she only needed to be their an hour as didn't want to pay more than the $6 for the hour.  When we went to live I found her sweeping the kitchen floor and doing other things that fit in with a housekeeper's normal duties.  When we went there to live with them that  that situation changed and we had here their for several hours as Pat wasn't up to do that type of work.  It wasn't that my folks couldn't afford to pay the housekeeper for several hours of work but my mother was very frugal. Can't you leave the sweeping and scrubbing that is so tiring for you for your housekeeper to do?

Shirley, those must have been terrible winds to drive in and then to find they had done the damage you described on your property.  Better your fence than your house.  Glad you got home safely.  I saw the pictures of the wind just blow over a semi-trailer truck on the highway as it was driving.  Glad you motor home didn't blow off the road.  I bet your cats were nervous as well as you.

Callie, when we lived in Oklahoma it seemed the wind was always blowing, at least that is one of the strong memories I have of it.

Phyllis, sure hope you feel better tomorrow.  It sure interrupts what we would like to be doing when we have a down day.

Amy, when does Spring usually arrive in your area.  Ice is terrible and I hope they have the roads treated before you have to get out on the roads today.

Lloyd, I hope they get the tire fixed for good so you won't have further problems with it when you hit the road.

Sandy, that rain is sure preferable to snow but hope your weather improves soon.

Gloria, I think the video said it took the ship about 30 minutes to navigate the canal as it has to go slowly.  One sure couldn't be in a hurry.  Sorry to see you are also not feeling good.

Well, I have managed to spend all morning and wear myself out doing long postings in the three discussions I follow each day.  Time to go and lay down and turn on the basketball games and perhaps get in a little nap.  Pat will go and get a haircut today.  She has needed it for several weeks but kept putting it off.  That is always a big lift for her.

Good afternoon, warm, but very windy.  Right now i am tired, just got home from Homemakers. Had my class, teach the Kitchen bunny towel.

I set on the sunporch for a little while yesterday, got up to 70 in there.  Of course the sun was shinning in all the windows.

Mary Ann, I tried to get in my Soo, as I always and said i have to resign in, as I do not use it enough? When I put the computer on I go to all my cams. !first NY Harbor, the Duluth followed my Soo, last Time Sq. I check them in that order.

Larry, I am so happy to see your post.

Amy Spring is right around the corner.

Jenny I am thinking about you and family. I am seeing all the bad storms in Colorado

Hi June if your DIL is checking hugs

Gloria and Phyllis, hope you feel better soon.

Jane hope your day was easy

AMY, you did mean today is your son David, the truck driver's birthday, didn't you?

I'm home from work and while I was there, Cathy texted me to say that she's going to the Amish Store after work today and do I want to go along.  I never pass up an opportunity to go to the Amish Store so everything else will wait!

A lot of odd jobs done today.. had to sand the back pathways for the dogs as it is pure ice!!

Jane, yes, it is his birthday..he was in NY heading north when I phoned him.

Gloria de I just read where the red winged blackbirds and robins are about a two hour drive away from us. Hope they take their time getting here as there is no bare ground.

Larry, great to see your post! If Jane's dogs are like mine you can sweep many times a day when the wet and muddy weather is here. I always hope there is a quick dry up.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept in a bit this morning and now the doggies and I are awaiting the boinger for breakfast.  They are already getting a bit antsy.  It's later than usual.

I think my plan for today is going to include a little Spring cleanup in the yard.  I'm afraid the grass won't have a chance if I don't get the leftover leaves out of the corners and along the fence.  I'll have to pace myself with the raking though.  My shoulders and back holler after a while and I just can't take all that hollering!

I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way!  I sure do miss JUNE!

Good morning!  The sun is shining and it is supposed to be a little coolish but pleasant so I am looking forward to the day.

Thank you for being concerned about me.  Unfortunately, these down days seem to be getting a little more frequent but hopefully, don't last too long.  Mostly it is a combination of Spring allergies (pollen count is really high this year because we have had so much rain) that bring on the migraine headaches plus many, many years of dealing with IBS and related health issues, and just plain getting along in years.  I just have to take it easy and get through them.  But, mostly I don't feel like posting here and yet, I don't want to just disappear so I will let you know I'm still in the world but don't feel like "talking" to anyone.   :(  I really appreciate your concern and good wishes!

No plans for the day but I think I might try to sit out on the deck for awhile and soak up the warm sun.  My doctor keeps reminding me that I should get about 15 minutes a day of sunshine.  A lack of Vitamin D causes all kinds of problems, she says.  I should do a little yard cleanup, too, Jane, but probably won't exert myself.  Take care and don't overdo.

And, of course, I might read or watch some of the golf.  All kinds of things to take up my time. I hope your day will be full of good things, too.

I wish we could hear how June is doing.  Really miss her.

Hi Everyone.  It is suppose to be a cloudy day and is starting out that way with us getting into the low 60's this afternoon.  We are not suppose to get any rain.  About 4 pm yesterday we drove down to Pizza Hut and I am paying the price to getting out today as very tired.  As a result will just check in for today. I have read all the postings since I posted yesterday.

Good morning everyone, warmer today but the wind is howling so will not feel like the mid 40's outside. Had a hard time getting to sleep last night so will not be saying much this morning. I think the only reason I got out of bed this morning is because my son will be here around 10:30 and wanted to be up and dressed when he gets here. The sun is shining and a beautiful blue sky.

Like Phyllis but I really do not even want to start up the computer but don't want anyone to wonder where I am. After that one night of great sleep I have been lucky if I get 3 hours a night.

Have a good day.

I've been up long enough to feed cats, eat an egg & toast with coffee.... (I just remembered that I heated another cup of coffee in the microwave & forgot about it). Have a load of whites in the washer so thought I'd check in while waiting to put that load in the dryer & a load of darks into the washer. I was thinking about going back to bed but saw the mailman go past the window so checked that out. The sweet ladies at the historical museum we visited sent 2 of their 2010 newsletters that had stories about my parents. How thoughtful is that???  Instead of a nap I read the newsletters. Those 2 little towns always felt like "home" to me because my parents never tired of talking about their early years and the love shared by everyone living there.

Well, switched loads of laundry so will stop & heat that cup of coffee again. Was thinking how lonesome it would be if we couldn't stop here to visit.

I hope Dori peeks in now & then to let us know how June is doing and to tell her how often we think of her. We love you, June!

I also miss seeing June,  Shirley,
and hope that her "Dori"  will come in

that June really misses dropping by
and visiting us.

I am watching the Duluth Harbor Cams:
and they are still ice fishing at two harbors,
but it looks to me like the ice is starting
to melt ...   I sure hope not too much.

All is well here.

Sandy, the last time I looked at Two Harbors, there were no fishermen around, no vehicles either.  I'll look again to see what is there now.

In the Random Image picture is Fe, that darling little girl.  I am sure she brings your family much pleasure.  I don't see Tom's twin granddaughters as often as I like, but they know me so we always have a good time.

Hello on a Sunny Saturday in Central Oklahoma,

Yesterday was the first day in the last 7 that there wasn't anywhere I needed to be at a certain time.
Only got half the laundry done so am finishing that today.
Also "put a dent" in the desk work.  I knew there was a desktop there somewhere because something had to be holding up all the "stuff" that had been tossed/stacked/etc. the past week. (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/smiley.png)

Doctor changed one of my medications a week or so ago and the instructions say "may cause dizziness when first used".  So I waited to start it until yesterday after all the busy-ness was done.  Don't actually feel dizzy but do feel like my gyroscope is off.
Fortunately,  there's nowhere I really need to go for the next few days so I'm hoping things will settle down.

The Boat Launch webcam looked this morning as if the ice was melting. At least, the parking area next to the water didn't have as much snow piled up and the piers are showing..  The Depot cam showed a couple of spots out on the lake that looked like the fishing tents.  Hope they don't sink because someone forgot about them.
Edit:  Just checked the Canal cam.  Quite a few people walking along - some are out on the ice.  Guess it's still thicker than it looks.

Dryer is "yoo-hooing".  TTYL

sun is shinning brightly today and melting our snow!

I managed to pick up a "bug" probably on the airplane....so have been quite miserable for the last couple of days.  I am starting to feel a bit better, so hopefully the end is in sight.....thought for sure my head/ears might explode, they hurt so bad. 🤣🤣

It appears we are going to start warming up a bit around here....I sure hope so.  That "Bomb Cyclone" as they are calling it sure did cause a lot of problems here, and continued to do so as it headed east.

Like others, I, too, sure miss Our June and wish Dori would give us an update on how she is doing. HUG JUNE! We 💗and miss you❣️

I wish you all a good Saturday.

that was your name I spelled
AKY!!!???? :-[ sorry  Now I am trying to watch golf and write in here.  Maybe I should be knitting and watching golf. Oh! beside the robin, the chipmunk is back. We use to have a lot of red winged blackbirds, now they are very few.  I have not seen a pheasant in a couple. When I moved here Glenwood, was surrounded by woods. Stop and Shop,(large supermarket) built on our corner, and put up a stockade  fence. Then on he other corner the post office built a large new building. The first year they took down the woods we had trouble with skunks coming in our place eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  I think I just wrote more then anyone wanted know. sorry

Good afternoon, or early evening.

I was up early and out of my place about 7:30 to go get blood work.  Had to wait about an hour, even tho I was early getting there

Then, my son, who took me, texted my grandson to see if he and his 2 little girls wanted to meet up for breakfast.  So , we met them at Burger King and we had almost the whole place by ourselves.  It was nice to be able to just sit and talk and I so enjoy seeing my little great-grands.  One is 7 and the other one is 4 and they are such sweet little girls.  The younger one is a great eater, but the older one is really picky.  But,  I had a great time catching up on all their activities.   The oldest one is getting glasses.   I told her not to do what her daddy used to do.  He would take his off and lay them on the roof of the parked cars and then forget about them.  Many a time we were all walking up and down the street looking for his glasses. She thought that was so funny, but assured me, that she would keep them in the case when she took them off.  We will see how long that lasts. I am thinking that I might try to meet up with them next Sat. just to see her new glasses.  He gets the girls most every week end, and they usually go out for breakfast.

I have to start thinking about some dinner.  Since we ate a late breakfast, when I got home, I changed my clothes and started to read and fell asleep for several hours.  Not sure what I will have.

Yes, it sure would be nice to hear something from June.  Sure do miss her.

Larry, good to see your long message yesterday.  Sounded like the "ole Larry".  Hope you will continue to feel better.

I will just say a big "Hello" to all the other friends and hope you all have a nice rest of the day.

Joy

Good evening Amy. golf is over, the Players is always a fun one to watch.

I cannot walk to far out in my yard anymore so I have a plate feeder on my porch for the birds my regular birds that come every day are a pair of cardinals, 3 jays, of course sparrows the snow birds will be going soon.  The gulls circle around but do not land because of the trees the bird house always has the house wrens. I have my dinning room table in front of the sliders. My husband when he was ill sat out side on the deck, I think they got to know him as they would come to eat

I'm off to bed.  I watched a little TV through my eyelids tonight and it felt pretty good.

The raking that I had planned to start today was put off.  The temps settled back into the high 30s with the wind chill making it feel like 22.  That wind was the kind AMY calls (dang, I forgot but it's the kind that goes right through you.)

Good night my friends.  Sleep peacefully and restfully.  And and usual, may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, finally got more sleep and feel better this morning. I even had a nap yesterday afternoon. Went up to mid 50's here yesterday but I did not even go outside.  Today is to sunny but only in the 30's. At least no snow so hope we have seen the last of it for now until a little for Christmas Eve. Been reading while enjoying my coffee  then watching the Flash dancing. Love those Flash things. Time for another cup of coffee and maybe really wake up.

SHIRLEY  thanks for the flash dance link.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link to the St. Patrick's day cards. All great, you and Patricia do wonderful creations.

Have a good day.

Thinking of my Irish mother and grandfather today.  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It was 38 deg. when I got up but the bright sun has warmed it up to around 45 deg.  It is a beautiful day.

Have a good day, All.

I've got a bit of the Irish in me too, thanks to my Irish Grandmother and my half Irish Grandmother.  Thanks for the links from me, too.  Loved them!

It's warmed up all the way to 33º here, today.  By late afternoon, it's supposed to get up to 45 but I'm not holding my breath.

I've been to church and stopped at the grocery store on my way home.  Not sure what today will bring other than making doggie food.  Maybe I'll clean off the front porch and bring the chair and cushions in from the shed....if I feel like it.

I hope you all have a lazy, happy day!

Hi Everyone.  The day is starting out a bit cloudy but we are suppose to have partly cloudy a part of the day with a high of 65.  Yesterday turned out to be a day of great weariness for me and am beginning to wonder it if it worth the price to get out of the house as the last two times the following day I am exhausted.  I seem to be feeling better this morning although won't win any races and didn't want to get up this morning.  I will listen to our Church service from last week in a little bit.  I did watch a lot of basketball yesterday with some really good games.  There are two or three tournaments that will finish up this afternoon and then this evening they will announce the brackets for the bit NCAA tournament, which all of the vie for all year.

Bubble, what a nice array of St. Patrick Day cards you posted although with that of Patricia.  You ladies are so good with that PSP program.  It takes talent to come up with so many different delightful designs.  Augusta, GA, just across the river from our town had a big St. Patrick's Day parade yesterday and there were other event to mark the day.

Gloria, nice to see you are feeling better this morning.  Sleep can be such a good medicine in terms of how we feel.

Phyllis, I also have some Irish and Scottish ancestry in my background.

Shirley, now nice of the ladies at the historical museum to send you those newsletters.

Sandy, good morning.  I expect you are looking forward to some warmer weather up your way and all the activities to start that you can enjoy from your windows.

Callie, I can't imagine having to go someplace for seven days in a row and hope you can rest up over the next few days without something on your calendar.  I try to keep my desk pretty well cleaned off as don't want a large amount of paperwork to tackle at once.  I usually spend most of each morning in my office, sometimes when I really don't feel like it like yesterday and then close up my office for the remainder of the day.

Jenny, sure you are happy to see the sun and see the snow melting.  Sorry that you caught something on the plane but understand those are great places to do so.  I hope you are feeling better today.

Lindancer, I may watch some of the golf this afternoon.  I read that the players from this area, and there are several, are doing better good.  You didn't write more than I wanted to know yesterday.

Joy, getting that first pair of glasses is a big thing for a young person.  I very seldom eat lunch anymore as eat my breakfast pretty late plus I don't have any appetite now and my desire to eat is pretty well gone.  As of this morning I have lost a little over 20 pounds since this all started for me in January but have an adequate reserve of flesh to last quite awhile.  I just didn't want to lose the weight like this.

Jane, I wish you could get someone to do your yard work especially the winter cleanup.

Amy, that snow just keeps coming up your way. At least an inch isn't too bad.  I hope you can enjoy a restful day today.

Everything is green today.  We will walk over to our friend's house at 2 pm.  Her name is Pat and this is her birthday.  She is, of course, Irish.  Family has hired a bagpipe player and we will follow him up the street - surprise.  I managed to sew a little green fabric gift for her a few minutes ago.  A tissue holder for her purse.

Jenny:  Sorry you picked up a germ - it is tough to travel if there is anyone ill on the plane.  It is warming up here too.  Preparing for company in the weeks to come - it gets fairly busy this time of the year.

I hope we hear from June very soon.

It has been trying to snow most of the day, thank goodness it is just a light  skiff.

Took some of the garbage to the dump, didn't get the ashes taken this time but always another time.  I did get some sewing done and not much else.

Where is Lloyd??? Did he and Nancy take off to Florida?

Ohhh almost forgot, we have red winged black birds here now!!! I sure hope the robins wait a while till the snow goes. Mr and Mrs Crow were here also for their food, fun to watch all the birds.

Better go clean up the kitchen.....seems it won't do it on its own.

I didn't do any of the yard cleanup today and I didn't bring out the porch furniture, either.  It was just too cold.  The sun shone off and on most of the day but it never got above 40 with that "lazy" wind having it's way out there.  I did do some on line shopping for yard stuff.  I didn't buy anything but I did a lot of shopping.

I had one of my favorite old time lunches today....a Lebanon bologna sandwich with hot mustard and potato chips squashed in the middle.  I used to love them when  was a teenager and a young adult but I sort of forgot about them until today.  It was great!!

LARRY, I used to have lots of help with the yard cleanup.  All I had to do was announce that I was going to do it on Saturday or Sunday and my Grandson and Granddaughter would show up to help.  Now they are all grown up and granddaughter is in Houston, TX and Grandson is in Philadelphia and is courting a very sweet young lady.  My family has scattered.  So I do what I can as I can...no big pushes.

Now I'm off to clean up the kitchen, love up the puppys and vegetate for the rest of the evening!

Isn't it funny how we read posts & think of so many different things we'd like to say to each person... and then get rushed & don't say it all....

Sandy, I was remembering the drawings/paintings you did, so much imagination & talent. Often wondered if you had a city arts studio near (like I did some years ago) to try you hand at various types of sculpture or clay throwing on a wheel. I had never had the chance to try that going up and loved it. Even had a session of the clay pouring into molds & painting. I know your eyesight is not the best these days (mine, either) but any of those things might work for your creative soul.

Jane, I also wondering how I will make it through yard clean up this spring. SO much to do & I really don't have the energy or "breath" to do it without help this year. I do have the new leaf mulcher but have to rake & pick up the leaves that gathered in the flower beds & those darn yucca plants. Need to cut down the pampas grass & trim back some vines. No end to "need to". When Cas was alive I'd rake the leaves off the flower beds & he'd race the yard tractor around & pick up, mulch & dump into bags & haul to the street while riding.  I really love a thick sliced bologna & cheese sandwich now & then... once a year?

Amy, I walked down to the river the last couple nights & didn't hear the red winged blackbirds yet. Got a yard full of robins working like crazy looking for worms. I may need to water the yard to bring the worms closer to the surface for them. Nave not seen the females looking for nest building material yet... I usually try to find scraps of thread & some Easter grass to wind into their nests. Love to watch the wildlife...

Carol, I can't get over how green everything turned in the few days I was gone. Looks like spring & almost felt like it but wind still had a bite to it. Son, Andy, called to say he had his little pick up ready to haul a new storage unit for the pool stuff... if I wanted to pick one out. I had seen a nice one at Sam's Club not long ago so made a trip to the store, looked good to me so I called him & they already had them put together so have the new one in the pool area already. Funny part is when Andy started moving stuff out of the old he found the other half of the lid I though was blown away. I looked all over the yard for it but not good enough where it sat. Anyway, got it put back together, threw away some old parts & one more job out of the way. Andy took measurements to buy the wood to make the frames for the 2 pool gates that need to be replaced... he loves working with wood & insists HE wants to do it. I do insist paying for his time... he tries to refuse but I insist & I'm boss yet!

Larry, nobody knows as well as you, yourself, just how far to push. You do a very good job being realistic about your limits... hopefully your energy will pick up as we get into better weather. I seem to be doing a little better since my depressing Echo results. Will wait on another visit to the cardio about trying BP meds to see if I can build up more steam. I more afraid of what meds do to my body than giving myself time to get better without. It is a gamble in my case.

Phyll, I made my usual stop at Ottawa "going & coming", thought about how much it has changed in the years I've been making it a routine. The Walmart moved to the opposite side of where I get off, if you remember where it used to be behind the McDonald's? Lots of changes but still a convenient place to rest long enough for cats to use their litter box & me to grab something to eat in MickeyD's....

Joy, getting a chance to visit with the little ones is special, isn't it? I have a 4 year old that is more like me than any of my kids or grands.... I think this is how my grandmother felt about me, that she saw herself in me. I knew there was a special bond between us until the day she died & hope my great grand will feel it when she gets older. So far I have 7 grands & 7 great grands.

Callie, you lead a much busier life than I do. I'm selfish with my time anymore, don't belong to art guilds or anything that requires me to be some place at any particular time.... in case I have something more fun pop up. Terrible, huh? I am still sore from hanging onto that steering wheel across MO & KS last Thursday... wicked wind!

Gloria de... I have a bird feeder shaped like a sunflower laying flat, hangs with chain that goes through the ceramic center in 3 places & attaches to a shepherd's hook. Stuck it in the ground near the front sidewalk, right in front of my kitchen sink window so all the time I spend at the sink I get to watch birds. Today I had cardinals & snowbirds, a pair of doves scratching under the feeder & saw something else flit across but didn't recognize as fast as it was moving. The robins don't eat seeds but plenty on the ground with their ear cocked to listen for worms.

Jenny, sorry about catching a bug... my gr-daughter was in St.Louis this week on business, was to leave Friday but called her mother about the time daughter got back in town from meeting me... saying she didn't feel well all of a sudden but was going back to Seattle anyway. Little while later another phone call that she threw up on the plane as it was taking off, pilot asked if she wanted to go back (commercial plane) she thought she'd better so got picked up & spent the day & night in bed at her parents house. She was lucky to get another flight out late the following day, as so many flights have been canceled. Both she & her husband have worked with those grounded planes, as well as 4 more of my kids/grands, they are all holding their breath about the cause of the crash. Anyway, my daughter thinks she has figured the best way to keep from catching those bugs when traveling... loads up on Airborne (sp?)

Gloria, my main reason for wearing a Fitbit (besides keeping perfect time) is to know how much sleep & kind of sleep I get every night. Has made a huge difference for me, I'm back to getting 6 hours sleep at least 5 days out of 7 and when first tracking, was getting 3 & 4 hours a night. My "steps" have gone down but I don't worry about that, as I scroll through the settings I get to one spot where it says, "Excellent..for a lady your age!"  That is my reward!

Wondering where Lloyd & Nancy are, hope he didn't have another accident on that 4-wheeler.  They should think about traveling west to see those spring flowers across the desert... I'd love to do that, hear it is awesome this year.

Time to feed cats & think about bed. Got dark & I didn't notice. Sweet dreams to all... one of these days I will go find the saying that I thought so special, from June... it is on the old computer.

Morning is here!  It's going to be a strange one because when I got out the schedule for this week that I copied off the computer at work, the dates are all wrong.  First thing this morning, I have to call and make sure the time for this morning is correct even though the date is not.  If it's not one thing it's another.

SHIRLEY, Lebanon Bologna is a Pennsylvania delicacy.  It originated many years ago in the town of Lebanon, PA and you cannot buy it outside of PA so your Plain Bologna sandwiches are not the same.  And please don't ask me to explain the difference but I bet you can google it.  The taste is unique and the look of it is totally different.

I hope Everyfriend has a lovely day filled with the lov of friends and family and that you will be able to grab it and make it your own.  Around here, God has created a new day....

Good morning everyone..

Few clouds in the sky and -10° F. Kyle has physio and needs to go give blood for the Dr. today. That is all that is on the schedule today. I hope to get back to sewing when we get back home.

Jane, I was curious  about your bologna and did google it. Here it is for others to see...more like a salami. Bet it is tasty!! I love fried bologna too! My friend has a granddaughter that only wants fried bologna so that it cups and mashed potatoes in the cup along with creamed peas. That is her birthday treat and has been for many years.

Shirley, you hit the nail on the head about being rushed. Seems lately  that is exactly what is happening to me. I do try to come back and post more.

Hope everyone is feeling better, prayers for those I was going to say that need them but prayers for all..as we all do need them day to day.

Yep, that's it  The slices are bread size and 2 makes a good sandwich but 3 is better.  Of course, it depends on how thin you had the deli slice it!

You can buy Seltzer's Lebanon Bologna online and it will be shipped in one day.  I love Boar's Head  Lebanon Salami  but it doesn't always love me so don't eat it often.  I thought my DIL was the only one who crushed potato chips in the middle of the sandwich.  I copied her and started doing it, too, and love it that way now.  Here is an interesting link about Lebanon Bologna.
https://pabook.libraries.psu.edu/literary-cultural-heritage-map-pa/feature-articles/pa-full-bologna-lebanon-bologna

A little cloudy here this morning but no rain expected.  It's laundry day so that is what I plan to do and maybe not much else.  We'll see what I feel like doing.

I finished and submitted (e-filed) my federal and state taxes yesterday and received an email today that they have been accepted.  For the first time in several years I am getting a refund.  Amazing!!!!

Shirley, I haven't been back to Ottawa since my mother died in 1992.  I don't think Walmart had even opened yet.  That whole area South of town was just farms and cornfields back then.

Make it a good day, All.

Good Morning Everyone from the Sunny
and warming up, Rocky Coast of Maine.

Another week is upon us.

"Lebanon Salami" sounds wonderful
and I would love to try it
someday. Problem is... like so
many other deli meats, (which I
love) there is way too much
fat, sodium and nitrates.

Of course,  to me that is probably
why I love them sooooo much!!

Shirley...  Thanks for asking about
my drawing.   Once I lost most of my
vision,  I lost the desire to draw.
Mainly because I used to have to
concentrate on what I was doing,  for
many long hours...  Drawing made me
feel good inside,  but the eye strain
is more than I can handle now.

I gave away most of my art supplies to
my Grand Daughter who just graduated
from Portland School of Art last year.

My love for drawing  and my lack of
good eyesight set up a conflict
for me that I couldn't resolve,
easily, so I gave it up.  What use to
be easy for me takes too mucb
concentration these days.  I do
miss it though.. Thanks for asking.

Have a good day,  Everyone.
Sandy

Sandy sad it is but old age is doing it to all of us. if our physical bodies would would keep up with the thought's in our head. how great it would be. i am slowing and excepting most of it. I spent 4 & 1/2 hours yesterday trying to get a tubeless tire seated back on the rim that knocked off on too sharp and fast turn. this morning I am going to take the wheel off and take it to the tire shop and get put back on in place.

Have a great day.

Hi Everyone on a beautiful sunny day and we are to get up into the mid-60's this afternoon.  Yesterday was opposite of how I felt on Saturday and was able to enjoy the day by not being so tired.  Our afternoon was topped off by the visit of a couple from our Sunday School Class.  They are really pleasant people and we had a nice visit.  I did get a few things done yesterday.  My goal for today is to work on getting Pat's computer set up the way she had her other one and get some of the games she liked and played a lot on the computer as well.  There are no basketball games on TV today so will get to spend more time listening to my audio book as am coming down to the end of it.

Carol, we weren't out yesterday so didn't get to see any of the wearing of the green.  I hope you enjoyed the Irish birthday party.  That sounds like a nice and usable gift you made and it doesn't have to be dusted.

Amy, perhaps some day we will all have robots to do the cleaning and keep kitchens nice.

Jane, it sounds like you are getting some Spring fever if you are starting to look at yard stuff.  I have eaten bologna sandwiches for many years for my lunch but now have no appetite to eat lunch and lunch meat doesn't appeal to me.  I have never tried potato chips in a sandwich.  Sorry to hear you no longer have help in keeping your yard up.  Do you have a big yard?

Shirley, have you considered hiring a landscape company to care for your yard?  We had one where we lived for a number of years when I got to where I couldn't handle the yard work and here we have a HOA that takes care of the yards every week during growing season and every other week when it isn't growing but to keep each yard neat. Glad you got a new shed for your pool things and that was certainly quick action on the part of your Son. I worry about you pushing yourself too hard. Glad to read you are sleeping better.

Amy, hope you get to enjoy doing some sewing today.  It sounds like you all may have a pretty busy morning.  I have always liked fried bologna and my mother used to make it and Pat has also done it on occasion.

Phyllis, I have purchased Boar's Head luncheon meats in the past but always found them rather blah in taste.  A few years ago I was talking to a lady at Kroger's who said she had worked in the deli department for 25 years and that bologna was the best seller they had.  That may well have been it was usually the cheapest.  However, while price was always a consideration I just simply liked it the best.  Maybe I will try to get my taxes reviewed and submitted this week but it won't be today.

Lloyd, I also liked pickle loaf but I don't see it available in the stores here in the South.  I also liked the luncheon spread in place of mayo or other salad dressing but it has also gone out of favor and no longer in our stores.

Sandy, you are right about the contents of bologna but I still ate a lot of it over the years.  You must have a very talented grand daughter to attend and graduate art school.  How is she using her talents in that regard?

PHYLLIS, that was a great article about Lebanon bologna and I've also heard it called "summr sausage" most of my life.  I have NEVER heard it referred to as just plain "bologna".  It's always got a first name.  I never really cared for the lunch meat that is just plain bologna.

LLOYD, I'm not the one who lives in Wichita.  That's SHIRLEY and I did see your note to her.  Maybe she's too busy dealing with her wind damage to think about anything else.  She'll probably see these notes and be in touch with you.

I have to think about something to do for supper.  I still have some potatoes left over but I'm getting tired of them.  I'm thinking abut Chinese.  I have some fixins in the freezer.  Maybe that's what I'll do.

LARRY, to hear you're feeling better today.  Keep it up.

I'll try to get back but I'm buried in paper work.  I try to get it put away every night but I have so many things going on right now that there are more piles of paper than I know what to do with.

Enjoy the rest if your day.  It was created for you!

The day actually turned out really nice! Enjoyed listening to the red winged blackbirds sing in the trees.
I received my 3rd phone call for "Microsoft" wanting to help me with my computer problem. This time I got his number and name...told him I would call him back , didn't say what year though. The second call, I told him this was a scam and to get a real job...he told me I was right!!

The lady at physio told hubby to take the day off from the exercise she gave him to do daily. Tomorrow he can start up again if he is up to it.

Managed to do a bit more sewing this afternoon and anxious to see what this one will look like. All 3 inch squares sewn together, I think it will be a cute camp quilt for some little girl and I have enough blocks leftover to do a boys camp quilt.

Larry, hubby always wants all beef bologna, says you don't have to hang onto it with sand paper mitts to eat it.

Jane,  I can relate to the paper work, mine are either quilt patterns or recipes but I need to put them in sleeves and in the binder..

Enjoy your evening everyone..

Right, Jane, I have been busy with storm damage but was sure I commented to Lloyd when he first mentioned heading this way.  My mother used to talk about "summer sausage" but I didn't know what it was. Would love to taste your kind. I do limit any of the preserved meats because of salt, nitrates & nitrites.... had to give all up for a year or so because of terrible headaches. Was the cause because after not having headaches for a year I ate 2 pieces of bacon & about 24 hours later that nagging pain was going across the top of my head & to my eye. Been 30 years since I discovered that was the cause of my "chronic sinusitis" and now I can indulge without pain, but don't push it too often.

SO, Lloyd, I will tell you again that I'd be delighted to meet you & Nancy, probably you would be on highway 400 or as we call it, Kellogg, in Wichita. WEST SIDE!  When I come from MO I take I-35 out of Kansas City to Emporia, I get on the turnpike at Emporia & it costs me $4. to drive into El Dorado (price just went up). Much easier drive than staying on highway #50 & going through all the little towns. I get off at the 2nd exit which is El Dorado & take the loup around Wichita to the west side.

A problem with that now is they are tearing up one intersection so will be re-routed around, last I heard was you have to go all the way to Kellogg (highway 400 on the maps)... anyway. There is a Walmart on the west side, after going through downtown Wichita, fast moving traffic, but if you use a GPS or have one of the Rand McNally Atlas that Walmart sells, it will show you where to get off.  If you stop at one of the Walmarts on the east side of town it is like driving from Warrensburg to Sedalia for me... about 30 miles across town in traffic, so if you let me know your route, when you are heading this way, I will e-mail you my phone number & pick the easiest off & on for you & Nancy.

I really dread having that intersection torn up but it is a bad one that causes lots of wrecks with off & on nightmare. I really don't know the best route to get around the city when they close that down, it will catch you even if you take highway #50 instead of the turnpike as they all meet at that intersection. The turnpike used to have an off ramp on the east side of town so you could take that & come on through to the West Kellogg Walmart. I'm trying to explain so when you look at a map you can see what I am talking about. I will send my phone number, don't want to put it on here with all the robo calls I get, don't need more! Do you still have the same e-mail address?

Oh, all those kinds of lunch meats my husband & father loved, haven't thought about them for years. My Kroger store has the unsliced bologna so I buy a chunk once a year & put a slice of cheese on top of bologna about as thick as the bread & enjoy. Didn't have it in the house often as not good for my husband & he loved it.

Better get moving, just ordered cat food & litter from Chewy & need to check my list before it gets dark. 61° right now. Should have cleaned out leaves today but too lazy. Yard is starting to green up so won't be long before cutting off the brown. I pay $40. a week for him to mow & trim along the driveway... he doesn't do quite as good of job as the crew I had before but he mows me a path to the river & the other crew didn't do that. Nice kid, friend of one of my grands, firefighter as main job & has all the lawns he wants to take care of on his off days. I have some jobs (cleaning bugs out of the recessed light fixtures under the over hang all around the house) that need someone willing to get up on the ladder & lift those glass covers down to hand them to me to clean.... not hard work but I have trouble pulling those hinges down on the ladder... anyway, my son said his son was needing extra money & I offered $25. an hour if he was interested. He is working on his Masters in Bio-Med-Engineering. Don't know if he got the word but I haven't heard back. Last time the bugs got cleaned out my youngest son was here & put in LED lights for me & I cleaned the glass. He just doesn't have time to keep up with his own place when in town, his work sends him all over the world pretty often.

Spring has sprung & few more weeks the cover will come off the pool, that will be a big chunk of money because the pool guy prices don't seem to have a bottom line. First time for uncovering with the new cover so will watch how he does it. I know I can't handle it myself & not sure I want to risk having anyone else do it. Pool is a pain in the neck but not another place I want to live, so have to gripe & go on. Can't leave a pool empty, would mildew & smell... just tolerate it & whine about all the money going down the drain!

Larry when I had a lawn crew give me an estimate on cleaning out the berm, it was $600. for starters... not new planting or anything. Labor is high here, wages for aircraft workers bump the prices as well as the amount they can draw for NOT working. I expect it would be more than $1,000 a month for yard & pool for 6-7 months of the year. I keep telling people that "it may be a shame I don't use the pool, but I also don't roll in the grass & have to take care of that as well..." If the pool gets used the chemicals are 10x more, so it just stays looking sparkling & cool, like a flower bed!

So that's my day....

Amy, I'll check for the red winged blackbirds again, they aren't too bashful to eat at my feeder so happy to have them show up. Sadly I suggested one guy "get an honest job" & he admitted he would love to. Had a foreign accent so I felt sorry for him.  :-\

Sandy, would love to see some of your gr-daughter's work. Tell her I painted hundreds of dog portraits over the years, prices kept going up but kept me as busy as I had time to paint. I would paint for my walls & what I enjoyed doing & go to a show in spring & fall and sell about everything I took. My paintings paid for camera equipment & all art supplies (including frames) plus "mad money" for camping trips. Mountain streams & windmill paintings were almost cash money. It is a great hobby that can pay for it's own supplies.

Good night my friends.  Sleep peacefully and may God bless us, every one.

A good Monday evening to EVERYFRIEND.

This was a very long day for Michele and Dave.  We went to their home to stay with the grands as they are on spring break this week, while mom and dad went to the hospital to have the Chemo.  They had to be there at 9 and did not finish until 5 PM. Because it is the first dose, they had to give her several pre drugs, and then when it did start the chemo it seemed to go very slow.  I have not been told the details about the new plan of Chemo, but found out this morning that she is now and will be taking 8 pills a day of various  chemo drugs, all of which have very bad side effects, for 6 months.  We have been told to expected this treatment to be rough on her.  I saw the concern in Dave more than I have ever seen before and I worry about him.  He KNOWS the worse of all of this and it has really taken a toll on him.  They both continue to be as positive as they can be, especially for the children. Again, I thank you all for your continued support, it means the world to me.

SHIRLEY, as soon as I first heard about the possible problems with the Boeing 737 Max Plane, I thought about your family members who have been associated to this plane.  I hope the findings will be done with fairness to everyone involved.

I wish you all a good night of rest.

Jenn

Good morning everyone..

-4° F here this morning but they say it is to be a nice sunny day.
We are off to the vet this morning for Jesse's last set of needles for now. It will be interesting to see just how much he weighs. He is above my knees now and I hope he stops growing before he reaches my hips!

Jenny, prayers for all, especially Michele. With her positive attitude and help all around she will come through this. Tis interesting on how they treat the different forms of cancer, my friend took a pill and my husband had his given through a PICC line every other week but had pills to take ahead of the treatment.

Shirley, this is the information I found if I had of done what was said. I think no matter what I would find any job other than stealing from others.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/ctrl-windows-key-r-scam/9c5f848e-1265-4125-a58d-15bf7b6889da

Jane, I have never heard of crushing potato chips on a sandwich but will give it a try next time. Right now we are eating tomato sandwiches. We bought some nice hot house ones which I wasn't sure of the taste but found they were really good. So having that on homemade bread goes down real nice.
Now for the good field tomatoes but that will be a long wait!

Need to chase the dust bunnies before VON gets here....not sure if it will be before the trip to the vet or after.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The doggies have had their pill and I have my coffee and we're in waiting mode.

JENNY, before I forget, of course Michele has my prayers and will continue to have them.  But this morning I'm sending an email to our church secretary to put her on the prayer list and keep her there for the next 6 months while she has her treatments.  The will give her in the neighborhood of 250 extra prayers every Sunday and I know there are many people at church who use the prayer list on a daily basis.  God will certainly know there are lots of people down here pulling for your Michele and Family!

I have an order for pb chocolate saltines to be delivered to my grandniece, Bethany at her college during finals week.  So I'm thinking that today would be a good time to begin that job.  When they're finished and ready to deliver I'll relax a bit.  I'm doing this for my sister (her grandmother) and I'm getting a pound of Starbucks coffee to pay the bill.  She wanted to make sure SHE gets the credit for sending the treat because she did Bridget's favorite during her four years of finals week.

My next door neighbors have returned from Florida.  That's a sure sign of SPRING.  But now I have to be on my best behavior.  No more loud singing with the windows open or when I'm outside.  I can't carry a tune in a bucket!

I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way.

Oh, the Chocolate Toffee Saltines.....my mouth is watering.  To my mind they taste just like Heath Bars and those were always my favorite.  But, I dare not make any or start eating them.....if I start I just can't stop!

Sun is shining though it isn't as bright as usual.  Chilly when I got up at 6:30  but will warm up soon and maybe I'll sit out on the deck for awhile.  I enjoyed doing that yesterday.

Nitrites in lunch meat bother me, too, so don't eat them often but now and then I just can't resist.  Once in awhile, Shirley, I buy about an inch chunk of bologna, grind it up, add sweet pickle relish and Kraft Miracle Whip to make a meat spread like my Mother made.  We kids grew up on that!

Jenny, I feel so sorry for Michelle (and Dave and the kids) having to go through the terrible treatments but I'm praying that they will be successful and when this cancer is gone she will never ever have to deal with it again.

No plans for today except for household laundry.  I still have several library books so will try to catch up before they come due.

Phyliss ,we loved that too as kids. I sent it once to school and it came back ...the kids at school said it was dog meat!! Never sent it again.  I think of it as a treat ,one that I haven't had in a while......you have my mouth watering for some now.

Hi Everyone. We have another beautiful day ahead.  It is to be partly cloudy this morning and then clear this afternoon getting into the high 50's.  I have a few things I want to accomplish this morning involving our computers and then will take it easy the rest of the day. Yesterday morning was pretty good for me for awhile and then nothing I tried seemed to work and I got pretty frustrated.  I was very exhausted the rest of the day and evening but had a good nights sleep and ready to try again, hopefully with better results.  I do have to refill my medicine boxes for two weeks this morning, a job I really don't like doing but must be done.

I read all the postings since yesterday on my iPhone while laying in bed this morning.  I am just going to check in this morning.

Good morning.  I have not been here for a couple days.  Just got busy and the days just got away from me

Nothing special happened, so don't really have any big news to tell.

I have to go have my taxes done today and I hope I have all the papers this time.  Was there a couple weeks ago and had forgotten one of the papers I needed.

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well. Sure wish there was some news from our June !  She sure is missed.

I will try to get back later today.

Have a wonderful afternoon

Well, had a much too long post, hit the wrong key & instead of copying, it poofed it away. Such is life. Need to go rake those leaves before rain, I had not heard a word about WIND and it is really blowing hard now. Not a good idea to rake & let the wind blow the leaves on down the street... but since they aren't from MY trees, maybe I should.  :-\

Larry, I spend half my days being frustrated with these "techie" things...  :bonk:  :dizzy:  :sealedlips: hope today is better.

Phyllis, our meat spread was made with left over roast beef ground up & pickle relish & mayo.... we thought "lunch meat" was too expensive except on special occasions. Mom was a firm believer in Adele Davis' "You Are What You Eat" book so combined that with her farm cooking & Dad's mother's French cooking, we rarely ate anything that wasn't home grown or raised. I was a terrible eater and would have lived on peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.

Joy, I have that sinking feeling every time someone mentions taxes.  Mine were sent in long ago & have pangs that "what if I missed something?"  I use the same tax guy so he would have caught anything missing, cashing the I-bonds was the kicker & since they had doubled since we bought them in 2001, was a big hit to the bill!

Going to do something, the trees are rocking so may not do leaves after all. Would love a nap....

Another lovely day, a bit cold but all in all not bad. We did run into a bit of snow on the way home but it soon went away. The vet was pleased with how the pup has come along. Jesse gained 10 lbs from a month ago. He has an appointment on Apr for neutering and to remove a dew claw.  Hope that is it for a while..

Tomorrow we are off to the city (the other way) for eye appointments then swing over to the fabric shop and pick up a ruler that I had ordered in. I am not sure if I will be able to say hello in the morning or not, depends on how rushed we are. Usually when you need to get up that is the time you want to sleep in. :(

Amy, I really want a dog, a big dog... to hug. Love hearing about Jesse growing up. But, with these cats so afraid of dogs I guess I won't get one now. Seems I have another cat that must learn to travel, she didn't go across the street to eat while I was gone. Makes me feel bad that she thinks this is home and I'm not taking care of her.

I raked up piles of leaves from the front sidewalk & ran through the leaf mulcher, wind kept blowing them back to the porch but I managed to get enough in a bag to call it quits.  I am not exaggerating when I say not one leaf out of hundreds came from my tree!  The way this house sits all leaves just stop & swirl in my front yard & then blow up to the front porch. Have to 4x4 "fences" that are 2 rails high that just snug them right up the sidewalk so they don't blow on. Had a little rain, enough to wet down the leaves so won't be cleaning up any more for a few days. I watered the jonquils & Japanese iris, still need to uncover the lily of the valley so they can pop up. Busy time of year.

I visited KFC again tonight, ate too much so ready to go to sleep. I always get carry out & come home to eat in front of TV.  I had 4 robo calls during the time I was trying to eat!  Made the mistake of answering the first one since it was about the time my daughter usually calls... I screamed at a recording! Did not pick up the others but had to go see that it wasn't someone I knew. You'd think we could have geeks as smart as the ones doing this & could damage their equipment by pushing a button. Wouldn't that be a hoot, just blow up their head sets so they couldn't call again!

Think I'll go get comfy & may not wake up until morning. Cats get one more meal before bedtime. Callie is laying on the sofa across the room, snoring so loud I had to stop typing to see what the noise was. TV not on, I was going to the other room. I still have not found June's saying that I love so much. Will have to check the computer downstairs... haven't turned it on since being gone last week.  I copied it back in the old days of Bis' Nest... bet you know what I'm talking about, Gloria.

Good evening....I am much later than I would like to be.

Once again I than you all so much for your kind words of support.....

JANE, no one could ask for anything more than a  LOT of prayers from others, so I thank you so much for adding Michele to your church pray group....we all know that prayer do work and I am very thankful to you for what you have done.

AMY, Michele does have a pic line and will receiver her chemo through it every two weeks and then takes all the pills daily also.

Happily I want to say Michele did well today.  She is extremely tired, but has minimal side effects today.  The worse is a rash all over her face but even it is not as bad as expected.

I wish you all a good night of rest.

Missing Our June so much.....her comforting words were always so appreciated....I miss them.

Good morning everyone. I read that some of you seam to think that baloina is junk meat. well years ago was true but not now days, it is made with the best cuts of ham and spices. get on youtube and google it or if you are close to a processing plant go visit it they will let you take a guided tour. Have a great day. that is what i would do when I was picking up and delivering to food plants. inserting how things are made, and what are in them. taste before you judge. when I was driving a truck over the road I always asked to tour the plants and usually got a guided tour. Have a great day.

Good morning everyone. Wonder what I can get into today. Right now I feel more like going back to sleep. I am getting bad. Do not feel like doing much of anything lately. I think I am more than ready to have open windows and going out and enjoying some warm days without wind. March has been living up to it's winds here. No matter how I wear layers when I go out thinking it is warm enough the wind cuts through the layers and hits the old bones.
YIKES  just heard on local weather tomorrow rain but this area it will be snow. When I pulled up the shades this morning and looked out everything had frost and the only snow was the piles from the plows.

SHIRLEY  I never answer my phone unless I know the number calling, I let the machine get the calls. Most times they hangup when the machine answers them. Had 3 yesterday about my college loan-never had that and a couple more about my vehicle-my car went to the junkyard 10 years ago. Wish I had an empty port on this lemon to plug in my old external, I have many of Joan's stories from the Nest on there.

JENNY  I think we are all praying for Michelle. No one should have to suffer with that big C. I don't think there is one family that has escaped it.

Have a good day.

Good morning on a chilly, gray day.  I have no plans today so it doesn't really matter what the weather outside my door is like.  I poached some chicken breasts yesterday so think I will make some chicken salad for our lunch.  That is about as far as my plans have gotten.  I must get out someday soon and have my car go through its 10,000 mile check-up.  I don't anticipate any problems but if something is lurking I want it taken care of so I don't find myself stalled somewhere in traffic.

Can't get interested in any of the basketball tournaments so will probably continue reading and trying to finish several library books.  I always download, or bring home, too many books at a time.  I am afraid I have made bad choices and will be bored with one and I won't have a "fall back" to go to.  I no longer am willing to plow through a book to the end if it I find it uninteresting.  After a couple of chapters if it hasn't gotten my attention, back it goes.

Gosh, that all sounds like it is shaping up to be a boring day.  Oh, well, some days are like that, aren't they?

Take care, All.

Hi Everyone on this first day of Spring. It is starting out clear skies but will only get into the low 60's today.  I took my shower this morning and then laid down and read all of the postings since I posted yesterday.  I just don't have the energy left this morning to offer individual comments so will said say good morning as I check in. I have decided my new occupation is "professional rester" as that seems about all I do anymore.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for March 15,2019

Aw, spring starts today & I think I've used up a whole box of Kleenex already... working in that wind & dry leaves brought "hay fever" to a peak. Got a feeling this will be one long season of sneezing. Had to fry my egg this morning so decided to hard boil another pan full.... 2 of them cracked & puffed out so I peeled & put in a bowl to make egg salad. Been so long I couldn't remember what all I put in so came to the computer (what did we do before computers... I know! We had recipe books!) Must go to the store, no celery in the house or even a squeeze of lemon. I'm pretty sure I never put lemon in. A glass of fresh squeezed lemonade sounds good, though, doesn't it?  I've been keeping hard boiled eggs on hand a lot lately, nice to not have to wash a skillet to fry one egg & they are always convenient in the RV for a quickie pick up. News media bashing eggs again... REALLY?

Gloria, I woke up early & went back to sleep. Tiger was sleeping beside me & didn't move. The wind is NOT blowing so guess I will tidy up the yard. I didn't bother sweeping off the walk yesterday because the leaves were blowing right up to the porch faster than I could pick up. I've puttered around long enough that I don't dare go back to bed now or won't get a thing done today. Jobs have piled up. I wish I could find help that actually worked as hard as WE used to, but find it frustrating to see what little gets done in a couple hours these days. Sitting here isn't getting any of the jobs done, is it?  ::)

Oops, Larry, you snuck in.... I do like that title "professional rester"... I may have a degree in that already. My case I'm afraid just plain lazy & don't wanna do any work. I thoroughly enjoy being out in the woods in the RV with cats to snuggle with. No work hanging over my head, love to watch the different birds & look for wildlife. The cats are good about perking up when they see something different out the window so I raise up & have a look.

I'll join Larry and Shirley in the Professional Rester Club.  I just can't find that get up and go today.  I did go back to bed for a little cat nap and finally got up and made chicken salad for lunch.  Egg salad sounds good, too, Shirley.  I think I'll boil up some eggs to keep on hand.  When I don't have celery I put in some celery salt and to substitute for lemon, I squeeze in a dab of mustard just to give that little zing that lemon juice gives.  There is always a substitution I can find when I don't want to make a special trip to the store.  Guess I learned that from my mother in the old days when she did not drive and didn't have the car at home, anyway.  She made "do" and so do I.

Feels like Seniors & Friends came back from the dead!  I really was afraid it shut down just like SeniorNet.

Phyll, I did mix the eggs with Miracle Whip & a squirt of mustard so not going to add the lemon, I don't think I ever used lemon in mine. I did get some celery, always need that ... as my grandmother said, "to clean the palate". I'm not sure if that was a French thing or she just liked celery, but my father loved it. Celery adds the crunch as well as flavor. So I will have egg salad for lunch... maybe save it for Friday lunch.

Callie showed up for her midnight snack but Tom & Tiger are out running around. Do wish they could be happy inside, I am always afraid wildlife or a trap will get one of them. I am going to bed so they will be out all night. Callie ate & wanted back out, spring fever!

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.

Good evening......I wrote a post and the next thing I knew it was here and I could not post it.....I kept trying to get back in here and could not.....now I am in and the post is gone.

The main thing I want to retype is my sad news I learned today on Face Book.  For any of the old Senior Netters that remember Toni Lee Neikens, she past away this week.  I do not know exactly when but I do know it was due to her heart issue.  I was very sad to read this, and I am sure many of you will be also.  RIP sweet lady, you were loved by many in our Senior Groups.

SHIRLEY, I, too, was so afraid that maybe our group was NO LONGER, so when I was able to log in, I was extremely relieved❣️

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I was afraid I'd never be able to say that again!

I remember Toni Lee very well.  We sometimes got together just for lunch in the old days but I haven't seen her for many years now.  Funny!  My grandmother used to say bad/good news comes in threes and I just lost 2 of my high school classmates and have been wondering who the third would be.  Now I know!

SHIRLEY, I'm goin to give you a tip.  Many years ago a friend told me this and it works.  She said when you boil eggs, put the eggs in a pan, add cold water to cover, bring it to a boil, put a lid on the pan and turn the burner off.  Let it sit on the burner for 20 minutes, run cold water on them and peel perfectly boiled eggs.  They're easier to peel, too.  One note...this is for an electric burner!

I have to get dressed and moving early today.  I have a service guy coming by at 9:30 and I'm pretty sure he'll be all over the house so I not only need to get dressed, I need to get straightened up around here.

I wish you all a great day!  Grab it and make it your own in every way!

Good morning, even if it is a rainy morning. If it clears up a little later, as they say it will, I'll do the weekly grocery shopping.  No other plans than that.

Jane, that is exactly the way I boil eggs.  They come out good every time.

Well, girls, I have a gas stove & I tried that when Joan said it was how she fixed them. Maybe I didn't let it boil hard enough or maybe because gas cook tops don't stay as hot as long as electric (I do know that for a fact), but my eggs were not done enough & threw the yolks away. I tried more than once because I hate when they have the green around the yellow & thought that must be the answer. I used to boil 10-12 dozen for the Easter egg hunt, even a year ago I dyed some to take to a neighbor couple & both are dead now. This year I don't plan to dye any, but I keep them on hand for those lazy morning when I need protein & too lazy to cook. I thank you for the tip, Jane & Phyllis, but guess I'll blame my gas stove... I honestly hadn't thought about that difference.

Such a relief to find the doors open in here this morning!  Sorry to read about Toni, I do remember her but we never met. Thanks, Jenn.

Amy, my little Red needs a bath, too, good idea for today or tomorrow. Supposed to get rain again this week end but at least it won't have the salt & whatever they mix for snow/ice. I was holding off for the oil change because the dealer gives it a good cleaning & rotates tires with oil change. Also needs air all around in the tires. Different dealer that takes care of the RV & they not only don't wash it but they didn't even check tires with a nearly $100. oil change. They never did give me an answer why that oil change was so expensive so I pay my son to do the job & he does check tires... I insist on paying what they charged but know the job is done right!

Cats are all acting like they are tired of salmon & tuna for breakfast but eating a lot more dry "indoor-outdoor" type Friskies. Funny how they all change preferences at the same time. Think I will eat & go back to bed until it warms up a little. Need to cut down the tall grass in the berm & have the dumpster waiting in back. Have to take it around front for trash tonight so can't put it off any longer. Have a great day, EVERY FRIEND!

Good morning everyone, cloudy and 32° this morning. Yesterday was like an early spring day and did finally get out and enjoy the fresh air. Now we have rainco‌g in tonight ans maybe some snow mixed in. Welcome spring? Wish Mother Nature would stop messing up the seasons.

PHYLLIS  like you if I don't find a book not getting my attention in the first chapter I don't bother with it. I like the kind that get my interest right on the first page.

LARRY  like your "professional rester" I think I am your assistant, because I don't do much of anything anymore.

SHIRLEY  had not heard that eggs are being picked on again. Never put lemon in an egg salad either. Yuck. I feel like I am lazy but cannot to much  of anything anymore.

JENNY  since I never get back to the SS after the morning post I did not know the site was down. After whet SN did to us I think we are all frightened it will happen to us again.

JANE  that is the way my daughter boils eggs.

AMY  you sure keep busy, I envy you your energy.

Have a good day.

I guse I missed the added lemon but I put lot of salt in the water when boiling eggs, and for me makes them easier to peal while running cold water over them.
I had another accident Last evening sat down in a chair at the table it came all un jointed and hit my head on the steel round of a tall chair, lump instantly big as a egg. down this morning but very sore. had a good night's sleep in two hitches. 9.5 hours. have to go eat my cereal now. glad S & F is back up and running this A M. see you all after while.

Hi Everyone. We are to have a partially or mostly cloudy day today with it getting up to 65 degrees.  I think we may have had a brief shower this morning that helped clear the air of some of the heaven pollen's in this area. I didn't get to sleep until about 6 am this morning but was able to get about 3 hours sleep.  So I am draggy today and will practice my new profession watching of a lot of the NCAA Basketball Tournament games that start at noon and will be on all day and evening.  It is starting today with 64 teams and they are televising the games on multiple channels.  Half of the teams will play today and Saturday if they win and the other half on Friday and Sunday.  Scott and the girls were out for dinner last night.  We had Scott pick up food from KFC plus Pat fixed a big dish of baked beans.  After dinner the four of them played a couple of games of Farkle.  Pat and Scott are planning a trip to Costco this afternoon as Pat is out of coffee and that is a big motivator for her.  I don't think she has too many items on her list so it should be a relatively quick shopping trip.  She doesn't have an order for Walmart this week.  Of of the ladies from Sunday School brought over an Italian dinner with salad and dessert that we will enjoy tonight and Pat won't have to cook, which she appreciates.  Different ladies have brought in several meals these last three months.

Shirley, sorry to hear you are one of those who suffer with hay fever.  I don't think Pat has ever put lemon in her egg salad but does use some mustard.  I do not care for hard boiled eggs or egg salad but the boiled eggs are ok in a salad  or potato salad.  We are fortunate to have a housekeeper who works hard from the moment she arrives until she leaves about 3 hours later.  I don't know who anyone could consider you lazy with all you do in keeping up with your big home and yard and cats and many other things.

Phyllis, over most of my life I have been an early riser that is fully awake when I wake up in the morning.  However, that is no longer the case.  My wife is always doing substitutions in many of her recipes and they usually turn out well. While I was growing up on the farm most people went to the store once a week on Saturday night and it was also a time of socialization within the community.

Jane, I think the description of boiling eggs is how Pat does it.  After they cool she generally peels them all at the same time and stores them in a jar with a lid in the refrigerator for later use.

Amy, glad your appointments went well yesterday and you were able to eat out.

Gloria, nice to see you were able to get out and enjoy the fresh air yesterday.  I don't think of myself as lazy as would happily do a lot more if I were up to it which isn't the case anymore.

Lloyd, so sorry to hear that your chair broke and you hit your poor hear again.  You might want to consider wearing a helmet.

I don't think I can claim membership in the "Professional Resting Club" just yet but if it has a branch for "Professional Procrastinators" I'm in!  I think my credentials for that club are impeccable.  I'm better at putting off a job than anyone I know.

SHIRLEY, that egg boiling method does NOT work on gas stoves.  It's the residual heat in the electric burner that completes the job.  Sorry about that.

LLOYD, I think you need to post signs all over your house shop and vehicles that read "Be Careful".  And I'm pretty sure a helmet would be a good idea but I'm not sure it would be enough.  I think maybe you need a suit of armor!  I hope you feel better soon!

Good Morning,

Sorry to hear about Toni Lee.  I met her at several Bashes and when a tour I was on spent 2 nights in Hershey PA, she "kidnapped" me for lunch with several other S & F members from the area who she had invited to join us.
She told me we were going to a newly opened restaurant that they thought was very interesting.  I expected something Amish so had to keep from laughing when it turned out tbe a Texas Roadhouse.    I felt right at home.

Jane,  were you there?  (I'm too lazy to get out the picture and see.)

My mother fixed hard-boiled eggs the same way you suggested.  She had - and I've always had - an electric stove.  Son/dil have a gas stove and I've always been leery of cooking on that open flame.
I like chicken salad but  I don't like the taste or texture of celery so leave out the mustard and put halved grapes in mine.

I was never allowed to have a birthday party because my parents didn't think it was "nice" to ask people to buy extra gifts so close to Christmas.
However,  beginning about age two (according to pictures), friends were invited to an Easter egg hunt.  We had chickens and lived on an acreage so there were plenty of eggs and plenty of room to hide them.
This continued until we outgrew thinking it was fun - and the BFFs began exchanging birthday gifts on our own.  One always gave me a pair of something (earrings, gloves, stockings <remember those ?> ) ...one for Christmas and one for my birthday.
Never have convinced her that's not the way it's supposed to work.

The Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom.  Unfortunately, the red cedar pollen is very high and that means I can't spend much time outside in the lovely sunshine.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good afternoon.  Nice to see the site back up again today.  Like some others, I was afraid that maybe it was gone forever.

Larry, I am another one who could be a member of the "Professional Resting Club".  When I don't have anything special to do, I tend to just become very lazy.  However,  if I have an appointment or someplace else to go, I can be up and out of here in "a minute".  And, I usually don't feel that tired when I get home.  It just makes me so angry with myself.

It is a rainy, dreary day out.  What happened to the nice Spring weather that is supposed to happen.  Sure hope we don't wind up with a real rainy spring.  I am so looking forward to being able to sit out in the sunshine.

Nothing special has happened in  the past couple days.  I do play cards tonight, so that is the only thing on my agenda for today.

I don't think I would like lemon juice in my egg salad or my chicken salad.  I had stopped the other day and bought some fried chicken from Popeye's and I used one of the breasts to make a little chicken salad.  Had enough for 3 sandwiches.

I do my hard-boiled eggs the same way as Jane.  Never thought about the electric stove being quicker than the gas stove.   I haven't had a gas stove for many years, so don't remember how I fixed them now.  Fixing hard boiled eggs in the Instant Pot is one of the first things they tell you to start out with.  I just can't see that, as it doesn't take that long to fix them on the stove.  Sometimes I just take them off the burner and put a lid on them and let them sit, maybe for a couple hours before I take the shell off.  Don't see any difference between leaving them sit or leaving them on the burner.

I need to get a move on and get some lunch and then think about reading for a little while until it is time to get ready to go play cards.

Hope everyone will have a good afternoon.

Joy

CALLIE, I was at that lunch in Harrisburg and I had another Senior Netter with me.  Alice Ham from New York was visiting me and she came along. There was a couple from Maryland who later moved to Florida and I can't remember their names but he was busily making rings out of dollar bills for everyone.  I still have one he made for me.  I think their last name was HOWE.  And they came to some of the bashes too.  Was he DOUG?

I've had an inspector here testing for lead and radon.  I don't have any lead in the paint for he took some dust samples to be tested.  They'll let me know about that.  When he said he'd be testing paint and dust, I told him there was no lack of dust for any purpose and he could have all he wanted.

OOPS!  Forgot to turn off the oven after roasting some nuts.  I'm back. I turned off the oven and washed up my baking dishes.

Hope you are all enjoying your day!

Jane,  I thought you were.  I remember Alice Ham and Pat/Doug Howe.  They were Education Docents at an historical place where they lived in MD.  I also have the $bill ring he made.

Found the picture.  No last names listed but ones around the table are Jean (good friend of Toni Lee's), HannaJo, Toni, Alice, Jane, Callie and Pat.  I guess Doug was the cameraman.

Earlier in the tour, we had stopped overnight in St. Jacobs, Ontario.  Pat Scott and Judy McKenna came to visit with me while the group was having dinner.

Most of the ones on the tour were local friends and they were amazed that people I'd never seen (and vice versa) made an effort to spend time with "Callie" (not the name I'm known by in real life).

MYCHEAL, I guess you should tell that to Shirley.  She's the one with the gas stove and she said it didn't work.  So did my sister who has always cooked on a gas stove.  I just don't know.  I guess they're both wrong.

Callie, I remember Jean Leiboff.  She came to lunch in Lewisburg with Toni Lee once.  And yes, PAT Howe.

I didn't do much of anything again today.  I'm getting to be a very good procrastinator.  Do I have to have my own club?

Now I'm going to bed!  I wish you all a Good Night and a Happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Good Morning everyone. well as you all know my short term Memory Is not good at all any more, and the head knocks do not help any more.Nancy said she thinks she needs to get me wrapped in bobble wrap. all I know is in spite of my last accident yesterday I slept very well last night, but woke up this A M with a very sore head on the out side and a very bad headache on the inside. but life goes on and i enjoy being here and enjoy all you people most of the time, some times I enjoy just being left alone in the recliner watching a good movie, but if you happen to get close by feel free to knock on the door and come on in. Nancy never slept good last night,so she tossed and turned and as a result I never rested well either. I think I will go eat some cold cereal and head for the couch.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and moving because I have an early day at Wally World.  I'm inundated with paper work (I hate, loathe and detest paper work).  It's making my days a big blur of NOTHING!  Oh well, it's one of those things that we must do whethere we like it or not.

We had rain most of the day yesterday.  I didn't have to go anywhere so it didn't really bother me but the doggies do not like rain.  They don't seem to mind snow but I have to force them off the porch when it's raining.  Once they're off the porch, they tend to business but getting them off the porch is a hassle.  And it's supposed to rain again today late afternoon into evening.

Today is yours!  Make it unique in every way!  Whatever suits your fancy, do it!

Good morning everyone..

We may get some rain today or snow?? All is well in this neck of the woods. I did manage to get my vehicle washed yesterday but not sure how long it will last if we get more snow.
While in the back yard with the dogs, I listened to the birds, chickadees, red winged black birds and geese!! The poor geese, not many lakes are open but they must be finding some open water.

Today is clean up day plus I want to start more yogurt Sweep up some of the sand outside on the walks so it doesn't travel indoors too.

Jane that is how I also do my eggs. They turn out perfect every time.

Joy my son does his eggs in the instant pot. He does 2 doz at a time. Said they are a lot easier to peel done in the IP. I have yet to try that way to see if there is a difference.

Larry, may each day bring strength to you.

Callie, I love St Jacobs. We went there and toured around a bit stopping in I think it was Fergus to have a wonderful meal at The Crossing. Awesome home cooked food.

Lloyd, I think we shall just put you in one big bubble to keep you safe. We would be lost without you here. Please take it easy.

Gloria, there are days my energy goes on a trip without me. Jobs need to be done  and some can't be put off till another day. Hope you keep the snow there please :)

Phyllis, I like to keep our vehicle up to date on everything also...but oh my it sure can dent the pocket book.

Shirley, I tried these touchless washes and they don't get the dirt off.so I just use the do it yourself ones till I can was it by hand at home, then the dirt comes off!!

Better get a move on ,take care everyone and have a great day.

Hi Everyone. The morning starts out with a nice clear sky and it is suppose to stay that way all day with a high of 67 degrees. I did get a good night's sleep last evening and feel more alert this morning.  This is the morning for the housekeeper to be here.  My plan is to finish up our taxes and get them submitted today.  I just need to review them once again to be sure I haven't missed anything.  This afternoon and evening I will watch some more basketball.  Pat and Scott did get to Costco yesterday afternoon.  When they got home Scott put everything away and later had dinner with us.  We enjoyed the dinner that was brought over to us two evenings ago.  Yesterday morning the man of the couple who visited us Sunday came back with more food and he stayed and visited with me, which I really enjoyed, although I wear down pretty fast when talking.  Fortunately he did most of the talking.  Then last evening I had a call from another lady in our Sunday School who said she would be bringing us meals from the Wednesday night dinner on the 1st and 3rd of each month.  This is something they do for the shut ins (hard to believe I now fall into that category but guess this is now reality).

While I was having the Chamomile tea around 11 pm last evening I opened up my iPad for the first time all day and read all of the new postings since I wrote yesterday.  I will limit my comments today as have other things I need to tackle this morning and time goes by so quickly.

Jane, hope sometimes you get some extra rest while you are pr acting your membership in the "Professional Procrastinators" club with Joy.  Radon is something we don't have here but had it checked living in Maryland and Virginia.

Lloyd, your plan for today sounds like a good one.  I hope you find a good Western to watch.

I found June's quote from long ago.  Back in the Bis's Nest days when I first started getting acquainted with a computer and that site, I was completely charmed by someone that would sign off with this:  "Have a peaceful night dear hearts...give your worries to God and sleep in peace...He will be awake all night anyway. "  So, June, I am hoping that Dori or Gary looks in here or the person that has their e-mail address, with send to them to read this beautiful thought to you.  I am sure God is watching over you right now and knows how many people are sending love and praying for you. Welllll...fiddlesticks. I did get my yogurt ready and now it is sitting till the 7 hours pass, then strain. Swept the back walk of sand, dogs, well not just dogs are tracking it in..got that job done. Then mashed over ripe (rotten) bananas to make muffins......then I pulled a Lloyd!!Looked out the window and saw the 3 crows back so I took them more to eat and fell coming back into the house.  I have a bump on my head that would shame a goose egg now.  Took some anti thump pills and finished off making the banana muffins.
Hope to stay out of trouble for the rest of the day but not holding my breath over that!

Shirley, I passed your message on to June..

Thank you, Amy, I couldn't remember who contacted them but hoped it would get back to her. After all this time I don't expect June to feel up to using the computer again, as much as I would like to give her one more hug. So sorry about your bump, but as I've heard, "better to have the lump on the outside than inside".  Not like you to get bumps!

Lloyd, you really do need to move slower & get fewer lumps & bumps. I expect you are on blood thinners so that creates a whole different problem, bleeding internally. Cas had a fall on a Wednesday night but didn't die until the next Monday night. He was checked by a nurse taking blood twice but she didn't report to the doctor. By the time Cas saw the cardio on Monday I believe they knew it was only a matter of time and nothing they could do. He died during that night. I don't like to say this but I don't think you understand how serious the bumps you get are!  Do I sound like a mother or wife??? I tried not to fuss at Cas because I had to live with him... haha...so I am saying this for Nancy!

Gloria de, happy you had a good day, nice to get out & be able to do something good.

Larry, sounds like you have some very good people with your church. Wonderful that they are helping with meals. My mother always said, "it takes a friend to have a friend"... so I expect you have shared your time & energy with others through the years and this is your reward. Congratulations!

Janie, you would have laughed with me this morning when Murphy's Law took over. Went to that old computer in the basement to find June's quote. It hadn't been turned on for a couple weeks & wanted to know if I wanted to open in "safe mode or normal", then Avast popped up a warning about updating. Then it decided I needed to put in my information (Avast), I chose the free & "continue" until it came to a page where it wanted a credit card... showed "0" charge but couldn't get the page to go away. A phone number at the bottom of the page led me to discover the phone in that room will NOT dial out but can answer on it... came upstairs to get a portable phone & reached a foreign person that explained how to remove the page, but was on hold to get that done. Then the smoke alarm in the basement was going "beep-beep"... but I didn't want to dig out a new battery right then. I managed to send that Wordpad from the old computer to the new Windows 10 but when I came up to open it wanted to know what with... I tried a couple in the pop up but kept showing "encrypted" text. Finally chose to go to the Microsoft store & picked a FREE one to open all texts.  Big catch is if you want to save that text you have to "upgrade"... & pay for the service. I copied the many pages & pasted to a new Wordpad that comes with the new computer... it worked, so now I need to read the whole thing & save what still is important. Since it held the quote from June back in SeniorNet days, it has a lot of stuff that it totally out of date. Got another job... just what I need.  :o  I think I need a nap but weather is so nice I just have to get some yard work before the rain moves in....already showing up on radar to the west! Does this sound a little like your life lately??? :-\

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and active since 4:30 this morning.  My daughter arrived last night around 9 and was leaving to drive to Montreal this morning.  She was going to go alone since no one she asked had a passport to cross the border to Canada.  I knew that her twin brother who lives here had one and I suggested she ask him to go with her.  She did and he did!  I'm a happy mama.

She's going to her son's to bring some family things and things he wants to keep back here before he moves to Mexico next week.  He works for a very large, international communications firm and is moving there for his job.  He's also moving there for a lovely young lady who will no doubt become my DIL one day.

I'm happy for him but why must they be so far away!

The doggies got up early too and they're ready for breakfast.  Enjoy your day!

I have been busy looking around again trying to find something interesting for you, this time the Armchair walk involves a lot of climbing steps,so sorry to all who will find this difficult !,  :) ,but i think you will find the effort worthwhile, the first walk is looking around St Mary's Church with its collection of Knights Helmets and some interesting effigies, the Second walk (Climbing steep steps), is up the Bell Tower of St Mary's and the art of Bell Ringing !, it's going to be a very tiring walk for all this time, sorry Gloria and anyone else who struggles but perhaps we can all enjoy a nice cup of tea together afterwards !..
                                      Enjoy,Cheers. Roley.

Haha, Janie, that's called "mixed emotions", I think!  A tear in one eye & smiling with the other. Glad it worked out for one less worry.

Good night and morning, Jenn. Don't you love June's saying?  She said one time that she didn't "think it up" but no idea where it came from, so as far as I'm concerned, it is June's. Is your father continuing to do better since your visit?  Mine would do better as long as one of us was with him and slip back into his shell soon after we left. More prayers for the emotional roller coaster your family is on right now.

Tom broke through the barrier I create to keep him in the opposite end of the house during storms. I thought he would be happy being able to go down to the basement with that door open (Callie stayed out all night). Didn't work & he showed up on my bed very early. He has been fed, we have an hour or so between storms so I let him go out. Not sure where Tiger is, if Tom comes in my bedroom, she leaves.

For sure a nap is in order with only 4 hours sleep, may be sooner than later. Must have some toast & coffee. I'm as bad as Tom, being hungry all the time. Wishing all a wonderful week end.

Ah, Peter, you slipped in with those links so I will watch & enjoy them with my coffee & toast. I would have a cup of tea but my English neighbor more than 60 years ago, taught me to drink tea with milk & sugar, had to be made in a brown pot that was warmed before putting the tea in. My English born daughter and I drink a cup every time she visits and I really do still use the brown tea pot with "loose" tea. Coffee is faster to make since I keep a pot made & only have to nuke a cup in the microwave when I want it. Thanks for the links. I will imagine I am as young climbing those stairs as when I really did live in England.

Good morning. It was a chilly night but today will be sunny and very springlike.  Many of the leaves are coming out so a shimmer of green is showing down in the woods.  Early spring flowers have come and gone and more of the flowering trees are beginning to bloom.  My azaleas and the redbud tree are just opening their buds and the dogwoods are ready to pop open.  It's a lovely time of year.....except for the pollen!

Amy, I'm sorry you fell.  I hope your head is better today.  Have the loons come back to the lake?

Shirley, I have one of those little brown pots and used to love making tea the English way.  I still use milk and sugar in my tea but use tea bags now.  Quicker, easier but not quite as satisfying as the old fashioned way.

Good morning, Jane.

Nice tour through a lovely old church, Roley.  Thank you.

I hope Spring has found all of you and the flowers are making your day beautiful.  Happy day to all!

No Spring here yet...the overnight temps drop into the low 30s and high 20s.  The days are getting into the 40s and, of course, bringing rain!

AMY, I forgot to mention that suggesting helmets for others might be some advice you could give yourself.  I hope your bump has gone down and the pain has subsided.  I also hope you've learned to be careful!

I'm travelling to the nearby university for a meeting with my grandniece, Bethany.  She needs something I can provide for her and she brought me Starbucks coffee from he father's place of business.  I'm almost out of coffee!

I have a large blue pot in front of my house that my DIL did up for my birthday last year.  It has a perennial in it that should come back this Spring but it hasn't begun yet.  So a few days ago, I planted some (fake) sunflowers in it so I cold have something bright to look at while I wait for the doggies.  It's working!  But I have to watch for new growth so I can take the sunflowers out before the smother the real stuff.

I hope you are all having a lovely day....

Good morning  ( I think) everyone. Woke to a white world, light covering on every thing outside. yuck. Winter was late getting here and now does not want to leave, boo hoo.

My MIL made the worst hard boiled eggs you ever saw or had to eat. She boiled them for half an hour and there was a green rim all around the yolk. On Easter had to eat  an egg before we got into the dinner. That was my FIL's tradition.

My oldest son was here yesterday, I showed him my new Cox bill, I fumed when I saw it and he flipped. Since January it has been going up $12 a month well this one jumped $45.74. For what I don't know. I was going to calm down before I called them but he called them. Good because I would not have been polite. Well the gal he talked to checked into things and lowered it by $50. He was calm when he talked to her. Love my son. Wondered how many others they jumped the bills up like that  and they just paid it. Wish we had a choice in this building but Cox is the only one allowed in.

AMY  I wanted a sunny warmer day not  to wake up with snow again. Mother Nature sure is angry with us mortals and what we have been doing to nature. Energy? what's that? Mine left me several years ago.

GLORIA  de  we had rain and wind yesterday but when I saw snow covering the ground this morning I was disgusted. March is living up to it's name as the windy month. 4 days of strong winds that just whistle in this corner of the building.

SHIRLEY  I always admired June's use of words. Wish I had a fraction of that. Glad I have 1 phone and 1 computer to contend with.

PETER  seeing as how those steps are all sitting here at my computer I will not mind them at all.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone.

Bright sunny but cold day here ,the  wind howled most of the night and is still here. Moving a bit slow but have bread started used some whey from the yogurt and laundry on the go. Cauliflower soup for lunch and leftovers for supper.....doesn't get any easier than that!

Jane, the helmet would have saved my head but not my knees..

Phyliss, no loons yet, I can't wait to hear them on the lake...love listening to them at night also.

Gloria, I thought we would lose power last night due to the high winds but thankfully it stayed on.

Peter thank you for the links when I get my tea I shall watch them.

Shirley, that is a Brown Betty pot and after making the tea you put a tea cosy over it to steep.

Better get a wiggle on time is passing on me.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Cauliflower soup sounds good.  I'll put it on my grocery list for next week.

And, besides the little brown pot, I have a couple of tea cozys (cozies?), too.  Now, if I only had some loose tea.  :(

Hi Everyone on another beautiful sunny day with a high temperature expected of 68 degrees.  Yesterday turned out to be a pretty busy day and Pat and I have decided that today is a take it easy day.  I did get my Income Taxes finished, filed and accepted by the IRS and the State.  It was a good thing I looked them over again as I found two major errors I had made.  As a result my large tax refund went way down but at least I didn't have to pay more taxes.  I did lay down for a couple of hours and then got up and as Pat went to Walmart I folded a basket of clothes and then worked on Pat's computer coping a lot of files from the one she used to use to the one she is using now and a few other things.  I plan on watching more basketball today just as I did yesterday afternoon and evening.

Shirely, I like that quote from June and it is so true.  I also wish we could get a report on June. It is frustrating when we need to get something from our computer and it has to be rebooted or something needs to be installed.  The world goes on whether we get everything we wanted to do in a day and it is there the next day.

Jane, glad your daughter isn't having to make the trip to Montreal by herself. That will be quite a move from Canada to Mexico.  Surely your daughter will fly to see him when he gets moved rather than driving.

Roley, thanks for the link to the the Armchair walk.
Lindancer, when we are around other people we can sometimes forget about ourselves as we put our minds on other things.  Glad you could get to your Homemakers group and teach your class.  You must be a very good teacher. I seem to usually benefit from the Chamomile tea.  It certainly can't hurt anything and better than taking a drug to get to sleep.

Amy, so sorry to read that you had also suffered a fall.  Hitting ones head is do dangerous.  Better the bump we external than internal.  Hope you are not feeling too many bad effects from the fall.  Pat has often made the banana muffins and they are always very tasty and moist.

Phyllis, this is a great time of the year when Spring brings out the new growth and all the blooming trees have their short season and seeing the Spring flowers.  We have seen a few azalea bushes in bloom around here but our still haven't bloomed.  The pollen is terrible here as well.

Gloria, hopefully soon you will be seeing warmer and nicer weather.  I haven't heard of any new storms lurking to bring bad weather to the NE.  I guess your MIL wanted to make sure the hard boiled eggs were indeed hard boiled.  Scott and I both have found calling Comcast or other providers can produce much better rates.  You are right a lot of people just pay the higher price.  I agree with you about Energy as it has pretty well left me now.  A few minutes ago I made a trip to the kitchen to put a breakfast dish in the dishwasher and by the time I got back to my desk I was breathless.

Good morning on this cold and windy morning.  But, the sun is shining, so it does look nice out,  JUst glad I don't have to go out anywhere.

Amy, sorry about your fall.    Hope you don't  have any lasting problems from it.

And, yes, I am another one who wishes we would hear something from June or Dori.  I am surprised that we haven't, at least, heard something from Dori. I  feel like she would be aware knowing that we all would be concerned, after not hearing anything from June for so long.

Gloria, I post in another group and several of those members live in your area, and they mentioned this morning that they woke up to snow, also.  I sure am hoping that we have seen the last of our snow.  My cable bill seems to be getting higher and higher now also.  I need to call them, as I really don't need all these channels that I get.  They just seem to add things on without contacting you at all.  Just keep raising the bill.

Hoping everyone else are doing well,  and will enjoy the day.

I hope everyone will have a nice weekend.  I really need to get myself moving along.  I need to do some laundry later. Can't put it off any longer.

Joy

Good afternoon, notSpring like, but very March, we are having 40 mi. gust of wind right now. Cool also.

I do not know if I wrote, I have a new housekeep until Diana feels better after her fall. Margarita has offered to take me to Target on Monday for the price of a Starbuck coffee.

MY cablevision Optimum went up $25 last month, I am now paying $225. I Have so many channels I do not watch, no premium but the golf channel,When I called they suggest I drop that.  At 95 my only entertainment is radio and TV so I have to pay As I have said before I was a golf nut, played 3 times a week even in the winter with colored balls. I was still playing at 89. Only green I did not play was called heart attack hill

Amy,sorry about your fall, hope your head is getting better, I worry about head injuries

Peter and Gloria, the longest stair I have every claimed was in the Statue of Liberty, and that was many years ago. I guess also I Have climbed the stairs going up in Montauk LightHouse, out on Montauk PT.

Jenny prays and thoughts are still going out to you for your dad and family

I haven't done stairs lately but I did a mile down into the Grand Canyon and a mile back up 5 years ago.  I was 78 and very proud of that accomplishment!

I also did the stairs in the Statue of Liberty many years ago and toured up and down in The House on the Rock in ?Wisconsin?.  Also did a back packing hike in the mountains in Wyoming and walked all over those mountains with my Girls Scouts.  Not any more!!!

Another back up about making the call to the TV provider. One lady told me one time that "they have a discount available..." but have to call every year to get it. Crazy, huh? One bump up & I'm on the phone. I'm only using their internet & phones now, perfectly happy with what I can get on the little "stick on" antennas. Even my auto club has a discount price that is about half but must call them every year to get it! Seriously, every year the bill comes about double & same month I get mail from a major company for half the price, so I call to cancel & the price goes down, even the bill in my hand. This is one reason I don't allow any of the bills to be paid directly from the bank! We're all human & make mistakes but when it comes to MY bills and MY money, I know I am more concerned about that than anyone else!

Oh, my, I looked down at the floor & am shocked at the lint & fuzzies under the feet of this table! Must get busy. I hate to clean the floor with cats inside, scares them whether I use a dust mop or power Shark... or Hoover. That's my excuse & I am sticking to it!

Okay, how did you girls get the weather thingys working?  I keep noticing & love to compare but thought it was a lost cause months ago when I tried & tried & couldn't get mine to work anymore.   :tissue:

callie, do you still look at Time Square. I just came from watching and there is a TWA airliner with no wings setting in Time square, I was wondering what that is all about,  I am always amazed how many people are walking around there all night.  I look in when I cannot sleep
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for March 15,2019

Yes I do look at Times Square.  Was looking at it this morning but didn't see the airliner.  Will go take a look and see if it's there.  I, too, am amazed at how many people are walking around at all hours.
Edit:   I see it and notice there's a fenced off area on the street side that looks as if people could go in.  Granddaughter isn't in town right now so can't ask her - and she probably wouldn't know, anyway, since she avoids Times Square like the plague. :)

I enjoy the cam that shows the side of what I call the "stadium seats" (next to the Ticket Place).  Sometimes I'll see someone texting on their cell phone and then waving at the camera.  Guess they're saying "hi" to friends and family. :)

I feel sorry for the ones dressed as Disney characters who try to get people to pay to take a picture with them.  Granddaughter, who has worked at Nizza - a restaurant just east of Times Square, says there are marked areas they're supposed to stay in but I see them following people quite a ways.
Can't quite figure out what the "gymnasts" are all about, though.   Seems as if they spend a lot of time "warming up" and then do a few flips and spins.  I guess they hope people will pay - but I wouldn't think it was worth it.

Just popped in to say "Good Night Everyfriend".  I'm really sleepy tonight.  This getting up at 4:30 a.m. is for the birds.  Come to think of it, I didn't even hear any birds at that hour.

I'm off to bed!  Sleep peacefully my friends and wake refreshed to a whole new day!  And may God bless us, every one!

well good night and sweet dreams everyone. Not a good day here. I spent most of the day in the hospital at V A. they gave me the choice of a bed in the hospital or go home and take it easy for a few days. they gave me some pills to help with the dizzy head and sent me home with instructions NO driving and take it easy for a few days. so I took the home and easy for a few days.

LLOYD, do you even know the meaning of  "Take it easy"?  I hope you do because you need to start doing what the doctors tell you to do before it's too late and you can't do anything.  Please TAKE IT EASY!

Good morning everyone...

Bright day but cold 13° F out so far.

A day of rest and I am going to take full advantage of it.

Phyliss, I think we enjoy just about all the soups. I had bought a huge cauliflower so used that and it made a lot of soup. Shared some with the neighbour also.

Shirley, I can't go anywhere without this pup close on my heals. Can't wait to take him to the lake this summer to see if he likes water.

Lloyd, take care please. I can't shake a finger at you because my head still hurts from my fall. Great trip, horrible souvenirs.

Better get a move on here, poochies have been fed and Babe has had her med.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, for a change it is above freezing and the sun is shining. I notice the trees are not moving as much this morning so maybe the wind has finally died down and I can go outside later. Sure hope so. I need fresh air. Cannot open windows till it is 60° the witch 's rule. I have noticed no one is opening a window anymore.
I emailed Dori about June but have heard nothing from her. That worries me, too.

LARRY  with me it is not a shortness of breath as my back hurts more when on my feet for any length of time. Walking is not as bad, it is standing trying to cook anything or washing dishes. I see my doctor tomorrow and will ask about a back brace.

JOY  we had about 1 inch of snow and the sun melted it fast. On TV they said the southern part of the state had 3 inches of it. My Cox bill has been going up about $10 a month the last few months but this one was almost a $46 one. Glad my son was here and upset about it and called. I was trying to calm down before I called but he did it for me. They did drop it. All my family had Cox but now have Vios and like it better. I dislike having the shopping, language and spots channels that I never wanted but is part of the package.

GLORIA de  I always used stairs instead of elevators  but now I have to use them.

JANE  terrible what aging does to us. I loved being active and now spend more hours sitting than moving.   :(

SHIRLEY  the gal my son talked to Friday said I would have to call again next year. Pain in the neck. If I make a note about it I will lose it and forget. I have had no weather thing here since this new change. I miss it.

LLOYD  it is about time you took it easy for more than a few days. Take care of YOU.

AMY  after your trip I believe you need a day of rest today. Pleas keep that 13° there. It is up to 38° here and hope it gets a lot warmer.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. It is another beautiful morning with an expected high of 77 degrees and the sun should shine most of the daylight hours.  I woke up tired this morning although I had a good nights sleep.  By the time I got my shower, washed out the hose to my CPAP machine and got dressed I could hardly hold my head up.  I asked Pat to put my breakfast tray together and bring it to my office this morning, something I very seldom do.  I appreciate your comments that I am probably feeling better although that isn't the fact.  My longer posts just mean that I got started writing and didn't want to leave anyone out of my comments.  Today is not one of those days so just going to check in.  I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday.

I have so many irons in the fire this morning I am going in circles, afraid to sit down because I really am sleepy. Waiting to see if my grandson will call to say he'll be over to do some jobs for me... an hour or two. I pay $25. an hour & usually give a bonus if they work harder/faster.  ;)

Gloria, since I have a couple of those bills that must be called to keep the price down, I watch them all for any increases & call before writing a check. I get the person's name & make a note on the bill when less than what it shows! I pay fair and like to be treated fair.... don't usually give anyone a chance to cheat me twice (you know that old saying)..

Larry, so sorry you are feeling such low energy but we can hope & pray it is spring.... and as Arthur Godfrey used to say, "time for that sassafras tea to thin the blood".  Guessing you take enough blood thinners so probably don't need sassafras. You are good at knowing what you need to do.

Lloyd & Amy, sympathy for the bumps on the head, I've had my share. I notice that Larry also warned that "the bump is better on the outside than pushing in," he grew up in my neck of the woods & our mothers gave us the same warnings!

Jane, I got to church on time and had the fun of watching my 2 year old red headed great grandson "talk his way through church". On the other end of the pew was the little 2 year old gr-grandgirl doing the same. I think I grinned all the way through the service remembering back when mine were growing up. Must say, mine toned it down when I threatened them with dire consequences when we got home.  I don't think that is cool now.  :-\

Better get moving, got to clean this floor & clean off the table before (and IF) gr-son comes to work. This the the day to clean bugs out of those lights... I don't now how they get inside those covers but they hardly let any light out now. Wonder if they grow after they get inside.... :knuppel2:  :idiot2:

I just checked my email and got an email from Dori, June's DIL. I sent her an email this morning.

  Dear Gloria,
Yes, things have been pretty crazy around here. I am so sorry to say that my dear, beautiful, precious Mother-in-Love went home to be with the Lord on March 6th. She died as she lived... with grace, dignity, faith, hope and joy...and with love and gratitude for her Lord and loved ones on her lips.

We have company/family flying in tomorrow morning and her service is tomorrow afternoon, so I covet your prayers for all involved. We are at peace, and so happy for her that she is well and whole again, and in the arms of Jesus... but we will truly miss her so. She was everything lovely!!

I apologize for not contacting you first and I thank you so much for contacting me.

Sincerely,
Dori Drabek

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about June's passing.  I was kind of afraid that, since we hadn't heard anything for a while, that maybe this was the case.  She was just a lovely, gracious lady, and we all are blessed to have had her for a friend.  I know she is just where she would want to be.  The heaven has another very bright star.  She had a lovely family and I know she will be very much missed by them, and by all  of us.

Gloria, I know that was hard for you to have to relay Dori's  message.  Thank you so much !

I'm so very sorry to learn about June.  She was a dear, loving, caring person with a positive happy attitude.  I loved the saying at the end of every post of hers...something about "As long as we're here...let's dance".
And so she did.

Like all of you, my heart aches knowing that June will never console us with her wise sayings again. There was one day I felt that June had gone home, but it wasn't the 6th, maybe the 16th, I was going to remember that date but don't. Already I will have to re-read to remember when the service will be, my thoughts & prayers with all that loved her, she certainly was one of a kind.

We have had the pleasure of knowing so many unique people through these computers, I started thinking of names that left their mark on my life & probably most of yours. The list is amazing, each of us probably had a special spot in our hearts for different people. June will be one of the highlights for me.

I've done all the work (demerits from Joan) I plan to do today, Sunday or not, when help shows up we do the job! Cats are looking at me like they expect to eat again. I'd rather sleep than eat. I'll check in later, been watching for word about June and now such an empty feeling.

Thank you so much for contacting Dori, Gloria. I don't think any of our families realize exactly how important this group is to us.  You all are my best friends that I share a cup of coffee with every morning, that I check several times a day to see how everyone is doing.. that I tell more about my personal feelings than I tell my own family and more understanding in many ways than the people I can touch & talk to.  Thank you all for the time you spend joining in this conversation. Shirley

I am so sad to learn of Our June's passing.  I, too, was afraid this might be the case after our not hearing from this dear lady in so long, but I hoped it was not the case.  I am saddened that we did not hear sooner, especially since someone did come in a couple of times......maybe it WAS Our June and she was trying to tell us❣️❣️

Thank you, GLORIA, for reaching out to Dori, so that she would let us know.  I think this is something that many of have been concerned might happen......IF June's Family did not come forth right away, sadly, I do not know who's family would.  I hope you will ALL understand my thought!  What can we do to make sure that our family do know how important it is to let our SF Friends know how important it is to send out the word??

I am feeling so deflated right now.....there is so much sadness surrounding me.  Please understand that I am not trying to say poor me, I am just trying to acknowledge that more than ever I need to count my blessings rather than let the concerning things take over.  I know WE ALL are filled with grief.....the friends we have here are in many ways equally as special to us as our close friends and family members.

Michele is having a very hard time right now.  She has very high anxiety that is overwhelming her.  Dave is beside himself just not knowing what he can do for her.  Having to take the daily does of chemo in pill form have her feeling very low bot mentally as well as physically.  Your continued thoughts and prayers are so appreciated and I wish I did not have to share the concerns I have for her and Dave right now.  I know many of you or your close loved ones have been through this so you DO understand.

SHIRLEY, you are so correct that we ALL will miss Our June's comforting words.  We are all so blessed to have had this ladies wonderful influence in our lives.

RIP JUNE DRABEK......I am smiling now, knowing you are holding your Beautiful Daughter Susie once again🙏🙏

Jenn, my mother used to call what you are going through as "a heavy heart".... almost like you can't bear the weight of pain in your heart for everyone you love. Hugs to you. I found a "chat room" when my brother-in-law had another kind of cancer and read their opinions of what helped the cancer patients and ways to take their mind off if even for only a few minutes. I was surprised that one person taking the worst drug possible at that time, for causing all kinds of terrible side effects.. and said, "if you can make us laugh even for a few minutes, that is a break in the constant pain."  During the year he was taking that drug (gave up after 9 months) he went from being an over 6' husky man to a shriveled up head shorter person. Surprisingly, he gained his weight & height back after the chemo was over and is still going strong 30+ years later. Miracles do happen and I will keep on praying that Michele can hold on. Know that helping them with the kids is the best thing you can do, I'm sure that gives them more peace of mind than anything else you could do. Shirley

Our 90's club has one less spoke in our circle of friendship. Now June can dance again without the rollator. God Bless

Jenny, words don't come easy to me for what you are going through, but I do have you in my thoughts and prayers.  Also, I am with you as to the timing of hearing about June.  I know her family has busy schedules, but they must have been unaware of how important S&F was to June and how important June was to S&F.

Gloria de, I had the same thought that now our 90s club has lost a member.  So, to you and Junee, I say "hang in there".

I really don't know what to say....

I MISS JUNE and I can't stop the tears.  She was one of the first to welcome me to Senior Net and she said such nice things.  I loved her so much!  I didn't think it would be possible to miss someone you've never met!  So many thoughts are going through my brain...so many loving memories....

I know they welcomed her home with all that heaven has to offer.  She deserves the best and I'm sure she has it!  Funny, the first thing I thought of was, I bet she's hugging her long missed daughter!  And I bet she has a doggie!

JENNY, there were 50 people at the service I want to this morning at my church and we all prayed for Michele and her family.  That included YOU, too!  There was a later service and that is a lot more people also praying.

God be with you all, my friends!  May he bring you peace and love!

Jenny,  I have Michele in my prayers, as well as your whole family.  I can  understand  her anxiety.  I think that is a normal feeling to have.  And,  even with her husband being a doctor,  it is so hard on the rest of the family.  As the time goes by, I think she will be feelling better.  I have been on a chemo pill for over 4 years, and the first few weeks can be very difficult.  Fortunately,  I  do not have too much trouble with the side effects now.  At first, I did.  Just give her a lot of support, which I know you all do.  Tell her to just hang on. Things do get better.

Still feeling  sad about our June.  But,  she is is a better place.

I have an busy morning, before I have a doctor's appt. early afternoon. I am getting my hair cut, so I have to be up early and get my shower and wash my hair, just to save a little bit of time.  The gal who does hair comes to our place on Mondays and I have a 10 a,.m appointment.  I should be done with a little bit time to spare. She is pretty quick, and with me washing my hair myself, that will save some time. I meanst to get it cut last night, but forgot to tell her before she had it almost all rolled up.

Have a good night.

GLORIA de, I just want all of you in the 90's club to stay strong and know that we 💞💞 you all❣️

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Not much time this morning but I do want to.....

Remind you, AMY, that KYLE and his family are also on that active prayer list at my church.

I'll be off to Wally World this morning and then I'll be awaiting the return of my daughter Christy and her twin brother Phil from their flying trip to Canada.  They should be here between 2:30 and 3 if they are on schedule.  Christy will change cars and take off for Maryland almost immediately.  No visitors tonight but everyone safe at home.

I wish you a very good day.  Make it your own in every way.  Dear June is constantly in my thoughts!

I took a break from the computer yesterday so I didn't know about June until this morning.  I'm sad for losing her and her wisdom about life but I know she was distressed about not feeling well enough to do the things she enjoyed.  She was loving and loved by all who "knew" her.  I agree....I think she is dancing now.

Please take care, Everyone, and live your life with grateful joy.

Hi Everyone. Today at least I am able to hold my head up, which I had some trouble doing yesterday. We are going to have some nice weather again today although probably won't see the sun much as suppose to be cloudy with a 90% chance of rain tonight, which will be welcomed as maybe it will help with the pollen.  Nothing on the schedule for today.  After four days of basketball from noon until late at night I will feel lost this afternoon so back to the old afternoon and evening schedule.  I should finish up another audio book this afternoon.

Like all of you I am also saddened that we have lost our dear June, always a ray of sunshine regardless of how she was feeling.  I know the last few months have been difficult for her but she will suffer no more and think of the wonderful memories she has left us with of her kindness and wisdom.

Am just going to sign off for today with this check in.

I have looked in the Stanton and Heber CA newspaper obits and have found nothing in either of them going back to March 6.  I even looked in the St Peter MN obits, just in case.  I'll continue to look, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know.  I even looked to see if I could find something about June's husband, Ed, and found nothing.  There are a lot of Drabeks!

Good afternoon dear friends. Do not feel like writing to much

But have to tell Jenny our hearts, love andhugs are with here and  her family/

My cleaning lady did take mr to the grocery store and Starbucks.   My experience with the new grocery store was not that great.  Of all days I forgot my hearing aide and the young fellow that was checking out got annoyed with me as  had to ask him a couple of times what he said A lady in the back of me offer to help..To top it off I had bought a roasting chicken and it was still hot. He gave me two heavy bags with all my frozen food in the same bag as the chicken.

Now you see why I am in a mood    Sad  and mad

Mary Ann, you do know that her name is Marjory June Drabek, don't you?  Reason I know is in my long ago list of "contacts" is that "Marjory" and "June" both had the same last name... took me a long time before I connected the two names!  I did a Google search but came up with nothing. I do think we would have all felt the "closure" if we had the obit to read. My mother-in-law insisted her obit not be put in the paper, I thought that was selfish because her son that she lived with was having to explain every time his friends asked about her. Too often we don't think that a decision we make will have a totally opposite effect on others than what we wanted. I think we all would have liked to express our sympathy and loss to her family, to let them know we were grieving as well.

Thinking about the best way each of us could have someone let the rest of us know if "all of a sudden we couldn't come here", whether we had a stroke or died. My 3 kids know I have all passwords listed on a WordPad on each computer, they can access my e-mail without any searching. I'm sure they know how tied I am to all of you and would want you to know if I came up missing. Jenny has met Andy and I think would recognize his name on caller ID should he want to get word to y'all, how about that, Jenn? So I am covered. Remember back when Gladys was in re-hab for such a long time, her family helped her keep in contact with us. I'm sure it meant a lot for her to hear about our days as well as letting us know how she was doing. Her family was so good to take time to keep her in touch, they even posted pictures of her during that time, I was so impressed with them.  So, think about it...

Oh, Gloria de... how frustrating! Too bad you didn't have someone like our Jane to check out, bet she would have made it much easier! Drives me nuts if a sacker put stuff in the wrong bags, mainly why I just go through the do it yourself lines. I don't like the "non food stuff" in the same bag as fresh food or for sure, not the hot & cold in the same bag. The store I shop at most hires a few "mentally challenged" people and they are so careful about sorting as they bag, given a chance they will explain how they are taught to "put the food separate from cleaning supplies", and so on. So many of the sackers that are young just work to be paid and take no pride in how they do it. Sorry about today, think all of us are slightly over the top with thinking about June. Hugs...

Thanks, Shirley.  I did know about Marjory, but I thought it was spelled Margery.  I found I had looked in the Heber newspaper and should have looked at Hemet, which I just did.  I found nothing there.  I feel bad there is no obit and I'll keep looking for a few days.  In January 2018, Halkel (Hal Kelly) died.  His wife called Don (Radioman) and that's all we ever learned.  He lived in San Antonio.  I looked for a long time, but never found anything.  I have been writing a note for Tom for when I die and I will include two or three whose e-mails I have of people here along with relatives and friends.

Incidentally, I did find a June Drabek from Oklahoma City who died a few years ago at age 81.  Looking up her husband, I found a lot of Drabeks but no Edward.

As I said, I'll try for a few more days.

Our new cashiers work the register with an "old hand" before they are turned loose on their own.  First they learn to bag while they "observe" the regular cashier run register.  Then they run register while the "old hand" bags for them.  Then they do both while they are being observed.  This process takes about a week...or as long as the "old hand" thinks it takes until the new one can go off on his/her own.  I've noticed the CSMs seem to assign the new people to a register next to an experienced cashier for a time.  And everyone tells everyone, "If you don't know the answer, ask.  Someone knows!"

Hot and cold is a definite no-no and clothes go alone.  Also cleaning things get their own bag and soft and hard is separated.  Lots of the rules are just plain common sense!

My twins are back from Montreal and my shed and my back room accumulated all the stuff that didn't fit in Christy's car.  She's on her way home to Maryland now with orders to let us know when she gets there safely.

She brought me a hug from my granddaughter in Maryland and my grandson in Montreal.  She also brought me some Armenian goodies from Montreal.  UmmUmmmGood!

My kids have order to go onto my computer and open up Seniors and Friends and let you know if something happens to me.  We've done it with everyone but my son and I'll catch him.  I also have some people in my "contacts" listed and S&F and they will email those people.  If anyone wants on that list all you have to do is send me an email.  So far, I think....Shirley, Bubble, MaryAnn, Larry, Phyllis, Callie, Carol, Jenny, Amy, Marilynne, and I think Sato are in my email. Oh, yes, so is Jackie/Vanilla. and Maybe Patricia/Angelface.  I'll have to check that one out.

Time to go feed the pups.  Enjoy the rest of your day!

Jane, that is the right word common sense. He put the frozem fish in with the hot chicken roast. My fault I ws not watching, I was writing a check and trying to hear at the same time.  A lot of checkers will even put it in the basket of the rollator for me.

When I got Dori's email about June I had a hard time reading through the tears. I knew all of you would want to know and as soon as I could I posted here. My first thought was she would hold her daughter in her arms again. I pray I go before one of my children does. The first time I wrote Dori was on the third and June went to God 3 days later. That day Dori said she was with June when she answered.  My daughter is the one who knows how we feel here with all our cyber family. Reading your posts this morning and the thoughts of June has me tearing up again.

JENNY  I pray for Michele to get well again. I hope all the family is trying to cheer her up and get her mind off herself, hard to do.

Had a doctor appointment yesterday and was worn out by the time I got home. Had a short visit on Skype but too tired to talk long like we usually do. She is sending me to a nutritionist to see about my lack of appetite. If I lose anymore weight a strong wind will blow me away. Forecast had been for rain yesterday but it was a warm sunny day. So many have suggested the Meals on Wheels for me but they never had any  of those meals that IMHO is garbage. Had a chicken meal a friend here gave me and the smell was terrible. Chicken was gray and so was the gravy on it. The one who delivers it had an  extra one and gave it to her.

LARRY  yesterday was a happy one for me as I could watch some of my favorite shows on TV instead of basketball.

We are having a fire alarm test in the building today starting at 8am. Glad I woke early so that loud noise did not wake me up. Glad they put up a notice in the lobby when we enter the building. Maybe I should get dressed and head outside while the testing goes on but it is only 25° and too cold to sit out there for an hour.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone...

A bright sunny day here , not a cloud in the sky, temp is sitting at 0° F but will soon go up.

Yesterday was a great day but tiring, I was all in but my shoe laces as Janie would say  and I think they too were in.  We picked up items for us,my friend  and our neighbours then headed to the hospital . You have to be there early to have blood work done then head to the CT scan and they can't take you till results of the blood work are in. Long wait but finally hubby got in and  then we headed home.

I did read all your posts last night but too tuckered to post. Thank you Jane for the prayers, this wait and see is the hard part but I do feel good about it. Kyle will get good news from the oncologist .

Today is work in the house, floors need washing and I would like to finish off the camp quilt  and start another. We shall see how the day goes.

Take care everyone and enjoy your day.

Chilly and gray today.  Rained some last evening and supposed to get some more today.  Like Larry said it will help damp down some of the pine pollen.

I don't plan to go out so I won't pay much attention to what the weather is doing.  I'll be warm and dry inside the house.  :)

Take care, All.

Good morning on this pretty sunny morning. But, it is still cold.  Hopefully, a little warmer by the week end.

Nothing special going on.  I didn't sleep well and was up about 4 a.m. putting some laundry away that I had done on Sunday.  Was  too tired when I got it done and had it laying on  a chair. So, it was something I could do quietly.  I did go back to sleep for a little while.  I have had my breakfast, but I am thinking about going back to bed for a while.  Nothing to do until this evening when I play cards.

So, hope everyone has a good day.

Hi Everyone. It is going to be a cloudy and cooler day today getting up only into the low 60s. We did get a nice rain last evening. Yesterday afternoon Scott came over for a few minutes to fix my 50 foot oxygen hose along the walls and behind our easy chairs where it does not present a tripping hazard and I started using oxygen sitting in my easy chair during the afternoon and evening as well as in the afternoon while I am resting in bed and during the night.  Sorry to say that I am not getting any better but weaker each day it seems.  Just checking in for today.

Just checked my email and had a message from Dori

Hi Gloria,
Thank you so much for your gentle and kind words. June was everything you thought her to be and more... The most loving, humble, kind wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, great grandmother, friend, you name it!

Her memorial service was today and it was just beautiful. How do you honor someone in an hour or so who has lived 94 such beautiful years? It is impossible. But it was a beautiful snapshot of her life and we were grateful to do it and be a part of it. Now to adjust to life without her...that will be another story.

Marjory "June" Drabek ~ November 30, 1924 to March 6, 2019

Please thank all her Soda Shoppe friends on our behalf... blessings to you all and the special friendships you share!

Sincerely,
Dori Drabek

"He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler."  Psalms‬ ‭91:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

She included a picture of June but I have forgotten how  to post a photo.

Gloria, IF you are in contact with Dori again, would you please ask if there was an obit for June?  The more I think about it, I can see why there would be none.  June lived in Hemet for many years, the last few in a retirement home.  Then her family moved her to Rowntree in Stanton where I believe she had no friends.  So for the several years she was at Rowntree, her friends all lived there.  To my knowledge, she never mentioned going out to visit friends, only the medical people.

It isn't necessary to contact Dori especially to ask about an obit; I think we pretty much can assume there was none.

Rest in peace, dear June. I am so glad to have "known" June.

Jenny:  Sending a hug to you and Bob.

The humming birds are back in Tucson and it was hot weather today.  We would like to go home to Denver area but a cousin & wife are coming for a 3 day visit on Thursday and at the end of April a cousin & husband are driving here from Seattle.  Cannot disappoint them.

7 of us are having a meal together and it is a Swiss meal with Raclette cheese toasted under a grill that sits on the table - each person watches the cheese carefully (hopefully) then scrapes it on the veggies we are bringing  along with the cheese. Restful, and everyone seems to like it.  My vegetables today are:  new red potatoes, green beans, and asparagus. Amazon sent the cheese and it looks great.

We have already hosted two other cousins and some friends this year - it must have been the wicked winter snow that several came from Minnesota.

Larry:  Wishing you more energy, I hope the added oxygen helps.  Hi to Pat!

Larry, hope you don't mind my commenting on your oxygen hose, my brother had his spread out over this whole house & it was a challenge to step over no matter how nimble one is. My husband questioned his doctor about using oxygen and even went to a lung specialist but was told it would not help him at all. Glad to read that it does give you some relief.

Gloria, I will post it if you like. I saved the ones of her birthday party for a long time but have no clue if they are still on a computer or thumb drive.... guilty of being totally disorganized!  We used to have a place to post the photos and messages but been a while since it was used. Thanks for passing the message on, so sorry we didn't know to copy & send all the thoughts from everyone here. I do know I appreciated what everyone said when Cas died, hard to believe that was nearly 6 years ago.

Lloyd, glad you got some peaceful sleep. You do have to be careful so you don't lose the right to drive, would be so sad to not take that RV out for exercise now & then!  I found a link that should let you find all the Corp of Engineer campgrounds all over the US. I'm anxious to explore it more myself. Any where I go I check to see if there is one of these campgrounds in the area, they are the best for space and privacy (trees) between sites. Have a look around while you are supposed to be "playing it easy".... give you something to aim for and behave for so you can pack up & go when you both are back to par. You do have to listen to Nancy about stopping and walking so her legs don't swell or cramp. I have a good excuse now since the cats have to stop to use the litter box. They won't use it while rolling and will throw up if I don't stop. Like a dog, got to do what is necessary. Even us 2 legged critters need to move around every hour or so.

Joy, I did go back to bed & slept until noon. Sure not getting this house cleaned! I did get something done this afternoon & was proud of myself, but forgot what it was!  :-[  Joy, you are another that holds your head high and finds a way to enjoy life. I never was a very good card player, talked too much and not at all competitive. My brother-in-law has been on a chemo pill for years as well and doesn't seem to have any side effects from it. He is the one that had 70% of his tongue removed and parts of his wrist used to re-create the tongue, & part of his thigh replaced the piece missing from the wrist. A Senior Netter (Ruth Ann Bice) that lived in the Nashville area (surgery at Vanderbilt University), spent many hours with us as we waited for the final surgeon to give his report (about midnight). He went in at 6:00 am. We didn't have any hope he would be able to talk if he survived, but that was many years ago and he is doing fine. He has a little speech problem but has learned to use his new tongue. Miracles do happen and treatments do work. He had radiation as a teen for acne but also spent a lot of time in the sun so had constant removals of small cancers. But he is still living and running back & forth to the coast to fish with his friends.

Amy, hope Kyle gets great reports, you both are amazing examples of taking this burden in stride, but I do worry about you both. Glad you have your pup to lighten the moment now & then. I do think that helps. Take care of YOU, all those people that you help wouldn't know what to do without you.

Phyllis, IF I remember, next time I go through Ottawa I'll take a photo from the overpass. There's 4 off ramps for Ottawa and some times I take the one that goes south to Clinton. That stretch of road has improved a lot since the first time I took that shortcut, but when I'm going to the Lake it saves me going through KC. Won't be long the dogwood & redbud will be blooming. My friend's forsythia is blooming already but mine isn't. My little mini-jonquils are blooming so I picked some to put in a vase on my kitchen sink window sill. Have lots of tiny vases for violets & little flowers I grow. They don't show from the street so I bring them inside where I can see them all the time. When the dogwood & redbud bloom I try to make a trip to MO to see. Not as much in the wild as used to be, but I do make a trip through Leawood in the heart of KC, where we lived for 2 years, because they have huge old dogwood trees that are a thrill to see when blooming.

Mary Ann, I think you are right that June never left Rowntree except for doctor appointments, and except for a few tests, most could be done right there. She seemed happy with her life and when she wasn't able to physically do something she found a way to enjoy less (like dancing with the rollator). I expect everyone there will miss her cheerful smiles.

You slipped in while I was typing, Carol & Gloria de.... Carol, that sounds like a very heart healthy way to eat, good, too! We put up several humming bird feeders in our camp site in CO and love to watch them. They do come through Wichita on their way south but after finding ants swarming under the feeder & up the shepherd's hook where it was hanging... and drowning in the red water, I decided they didn't need to be fed here. Neighbors had plenty of flowers for them to feed on and I only saw one ever stop at my feeder.

Gloria, sorry about your neighbor. Do you have Uber there?  I suggested that to my daughter when she was visiting her daughter in the Seattle area, she tried & decided it was much better than renting a car.

It's been a very busy day today and I'm beat right down to my toes.  In fact, I'm all in but my shoe strings and they're comin' in fast.  I'm off to bed because tomorrow is a work day.

I've thought about JUNE all day today...yesterday too.  It still amazes me that I can grieve over someone I've  never met but I am doing just that.  I'm happy for her because I know she's happy where she is but I do miss her ready wit, her kindness and her accurate observations of life.

I got a lot done today and my last load of laundry is in the dryer.  it's going to wait until tomorrow to get folded and put away because I just plain don't feel like it now.

I bid you all good night and hope you have a good tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

posting much too late, but it has been a very busy day.

Yesterday I got my 2nd shingles shot of the new variety.  I had to pay full price for it as I have not met my deductible yet.  I was under the impression that the two shots are the same thing, but now I am not sure.  My first one I got in California in December.  It did not hurt at all....but then I was being entertained by my new Baby Boy Jonah.  Maybe I just do not remember, but this one hurt quite a bit when I got it and it has been quite sore since.  I have always thought the result of a shot was totally to do with how much you relax your arm and how the person gives it to you....now I a: not sure.  I just hope  this vaccine works unlike the original one that I managed to get shingles after I had it.

Once again, I just want to thank you all for your continuing love and support for our family.  I am just so blessed to have so many good friends that show how much they care💞💞

GLORIA de, I am sorry to read about your neighbor....I do hope he will be OK.  Is there anyone else that you can call upon to take you to your appointment?  Sadly I think I already know the answer.

We have decided to get us some help with keeping up the cleaning of our home.  The lady stopped by today to meet us and we really did like her.  We thought we would have her every other week, but she said after looking at our home that she thinks we could get by with once a month if we would like.  I think she meant it as a compliment that our house is not that bad and she was just being nice.  We will discuss it and try to make the best decision.  It certainly would be a lot more economical.

Pleasant dreams to all.....
Jenn

Thanks Bubble (and Gloria).... Great photo, she showed such a joy in being alive. I picture her dancing and swaying as she makes the rounds of greeting her loved ones (including her dogs), and especially that little girl. We really do need to remind ourselves that she did BELIEVE. She lived her life to be rewarded with a trip to Heaven. How fortunate we are to have known her. Shirley

Good morning everyone..

If today is like what yesterday was, it is going to be a beautiful day.

Off to physio this morning ,then home to do things that need to be done and sew. Yesterday the floors were washed but with the dogs I could do it each day. Need to make soup from a turkey breast we had for a couple of dinners and a dessert.

Jenny, my arm hurt the first and second time from the shingle shot. I waited till there was no on coming snow to deal with before the second one as your arm really does hurt!!

Shirley, as a child I would pick Mom some lily of the valley and she would put them in a wee glass on the sink window. Thank you ,you brought back warm memories. To this day I love the lily of the valley and the scent of them .

Jane, slow down, you are going 100 miles and hour. Take time to breath.

Larry, happy to read you are using your oxygen. Maybe now you will feel better and not feel so tuckered out. Don't push yourself  or it will be two steps forward and four steps back. Give yourself time to get back to having more energy. Tell Pat I am sewing 2 inch squares together. Tedious job but I am looking forward to seeing the finish product.

Bubble, thank you for posting the photo of June  for Gloria. Truly shows a wonderful lady that June  shared with many.

Better get a move on

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm up and attem.  Work at 10 today and AMY, I'm not going a mile a minute.  That's my problem.  Too many gaps between jobs.

Today I have nothing planned except seeing to the doggies needs, folding and putting away the last load of laundry, working my shift and collapsing.

I wish you all a happy day....you too, JUNE!

I've been on the list at Walgreens for months to get the Shingles shots.  They have been very slow to get the "vaccine" and the pharmacist warned me it would be a very long time before I could get the shots. I guess he was right.  Maybe I should give them a call and check on it.

Just one comment about obituaries....when Tom died we had only our family nearby and all of his friends and former co-workers had moved or died after retirement.  Our close neighbors and a few friends were called and they joined us at a small private memorial service.  There was no need for an obituary. Often public notices are an invitation to home invaders since they have read when a family will be away from home at a certain time.  Recent news here had a story of just that happening and their house was burgled.  Police here have warned us not to post times of services publicly.  There are crooks who watch just for that.

Sunny and cool this morning.  I might try to get out to the library...need to return a book.

Good morning everyone, maybe today I will finally feel rested from my outing on Monday. Every time I leave home for a few hours I am worn out. I sure am not the active  person I used to be. Time I get used to it?

MARY ANN  I don't think I will bother Dori again. I think it was great that she has emailed me like she did, she is a very busy lady.  June had friends wherever she lived, how could you say she had no friends? For a long time she kept in touch with several of them.

CAROL  when my in-laws had their summer place on the ocean in Maine they had a lot of company on summer week ends.

SHIRLEY  thanks I already sent it to Bubble and she said she would post it. I have the photos of her birthday on my external drive and have added the one Dori sent me.

BUBBLE  thank you so much. It has been too long since I had a photo or graphic to post and forgot how.

AMY  for me lily of the valley and lilacs mean spring.I love the aroma of both of them.

If I don't get moving I will still be in my nighty and robe when my CNA gets here.
Have a good day.

So far the water is getting away nicely and not giving us trouble. Today is general clean up and do a bit of sewing.

Gloria, we have lots of lilacs around our home so when they bloom I leave the bedroom window open and the scent drifts in.

Better get a move on here....slept in again......love this habit :)

Good morning everyone, frost here this morning. Ole man winter just loves us so much he does not want to go away this year. I am so ready for warmer temperature  so I can open windows.

LLOYD  glad you are getting some good sleep. Don't work so hard.

LARRY  good seeing your post every day.

AMY  there used to be lilacs wherever one went years ago but when city people bought land in town they cut them down.  They like the country look and then try making this town look like the city. Crazy.

Goodness where is every one? No Jane even yet, unusual for her.

Hi Everyone. It is our second day of sunny weather and is to get into the low 70s this afternoon.  Scott and the girls were here last evening for supper and Pat had put together a meat loaf.  She has found this a pretty easy meal to make since she discovered putting  all of the ingredients into the mixer and letting it do the mixing work.  The past couple of days haven't been very good for me as have been so tired I haven't wanted to to anything but lay down or sit and do nothing in my easy chair.  I am not sure today is going to be any better as took my shower this morning and almost feel several times in the shower as my legs seemed too weak to hold me.  I think we are going to have to take down the towel rack in the Master bath and put another grab bar in its place as it isn't safe to grab the towel rack for support.  Enough complaining as I am grateful to still be here.  Scott is going to pick up a sub at Firehouse Subs and come out and share it with us at noon.  He was suppose to have today off but has been called in to work late this afternoon and evening and that is when he normally would come out.  He did bring out the ramp for the garage and put it up but decided it wasn't safe anymore so he folded it up and put it on the street and it has already been picked up by the city this morning.  Once again I am going to have to beg off from making individual comments this morning as just don't have the energy to do so.

Good morning, waiting for someone to take me to the doctors.
I called a lady who advertised in the Bark(parks news paper)she takes people to appointments.  Don, the man across the street was suppose to take me.  Seems he fell twice the other night and the son  called the ambulance.  He hurt his arm, but did not break anything. He has to take thing easy now.  He does have bladder CA.

Larry Good Morning to you. I slept fairly well last night, but cannot stop yawning.  They say that is lack of oxygen, but I have the oxygen on all night, and keep my inogen that I carry with me when I go out next to my chair, so I can use it anytime.

Bath chairs are good but what is most
important is having very secure railing to
hang on to.    I grabbed on to a towel rack
once and it collasped almost taking me
with it.

What ever you can can get your hands on
in the tub is what you will automatically
grab for....   so please be sure that every
thing with in reach is securely attached.

We have had this conversation before in
here  and IMHO,  there is no excuse for not
securing everything that my hand can reach
when in the tub.

It is almost easier and safer to sit in a
chair in the bath room and do a spot wash...
We really do not get that dirty any
longer  to put us in the position of
falling...

Just my humble opinion... (again)
I hate to see any one fall when it
can be avoided.

love  to all
Sandy

Larry, I 2nd Amy's suggestion about the bath chair. Will tell you that Cas bought the one with a back (sounded like a good idea at the time) but discovered it was not convenient since "his" bathroom has a sliding door to the tub/shower. Which ever side he got in he was "locked" in to get out. Instead of getting a different one he sawed the back off. ::) It has been holding a pot of flowers in the back bedroom & has more near the feet to hide them. They are a must have when the legs are "iffy".

Oh, Amy, I love the smell of lilacs. When my Lily of the Valley bloom I will think of you. I've watered them a couple times in hopes they survived the winter. That is another little flower that I bring in for my window sill. I will take a tour of my yard with camera this morning to see what is blooming or about to. Last year the violets had almost vanished, no idea why, but I do love them.

We are supposed to get into the 70s today, hope the wind isn't as strong. Naturally, spring brings threat of storms, especially tornadoes & hail, a good possibility this evening with a cold front pushing down. We have had a lot of damage over the years but so far, none since Cas died. I hate the thought of all the extra clean up work that can cause. Can't control the weather, can we?

Had a strange thing happen last night, left me with a bad feeling or disappointment, I guess you'd call it. I took my Ruger to Cabela's yesterday to have the battery on the laser replaced. I bought the laser there & they installed it about 5 years go. I have no clue if I still have the box to ID the type battery so they couldn't check if in stock before I went. It is as far across the city as it can be from me but I was not surprised they didn't have what I needed...I chose to drive there instead of searching the house for that little box. The man that took the old one out showed me how to replace, seemed surprised how simple this model is. Anyway, he suggested a couple places that might have it (but didn't) so got on Amazon & found what I thought would work.

I did the "screen snip" using the tool in Windows 10 & sent it to my son to ask if this was where I wanted to buy. He did a quick check of his sources & e-mailed back "it's a good price".  Half an hour had passed by the time I hopped on Amazon to order & was surprised when the item showed up $22.92 instead of $14.99 on my order. I checked every way and finally called the Help line on Amazon "how could this be?".  Got someone I could not understand with the "pat" answers that didn't address my questions at all.  Since I had the site still pulled up showing the reviews, I typed in one that fit my mood. "Bait and Switch"... I would much rather have talked to a human, tried that & couldn't understand or be understood, but so tired and angry I submitted the review, that I had NOT completed the order because......

I've been comfortable ordering from Amazon, made some bad choices along the way, my fault for not thoroughly checking,  but only when really bad quality do I give a bad review. I do praise the items I am pleased with, I believe in reviews before buying.  This morning I am still upset but have no intention of ordering this item from Amazon, I know I can find the battery in town but will call to make sure it is in stock before going.

Guess why this bothers me is because I've been "heart sick" that so many people, politicians & business, don't have any conscious regard for ethics, honesty, integrity or any of the traits we used to admire in our fellow men/women.  So many seem to think cheating or getting the best of someone is a game, it goes on everywhere and I don't play it.  I love a bargain but will not take advantage of an honest mistake.  Makes me wonder how many others this seller has taken advantage of.  This is too long but only way I can get it out of my system is to yell about it.  'Scuse me while I scream.  :banghead:  :dontknow: Where have all the good people gone?  IN HERE!

Right now, except for wind twirling trees around, we have a nice day going so better do some yard work, call to find that battery, or keep moving before rain & cold weather returns. Sorry about the length of this, just a frustrated & disappointed old lady living in a crazy world.

You slipped in, Sandy.... and my neighbor would agree with you completely. She told me she had not gotten into the tub or shower for a year, but kept herself clean "like in the old days".

I know that I a paranoid about slipping
in the tub (my shower)

The most difficult thing for me to come
come to grips with  is that falling takes
less then a second and there is no
time for contemplation...

When I am in my shower, one hand is
always hanging  on to one of the four
secure railings that are in there with me.

Better safe then very sorry...

Missing the wisdom from several who used to post in here.  I have to say it is comforting to check in here especially since we have two close in our family with major issues.  Some days both Don and I feel awful and we are grateful to just keep on keeping on.

Larry:  Good advice on the shower bars and I might add to any of you who have a tub, put in a solid bar to help you going in and out of the tub.  It really helps.

Allergies and dryness - I have headaches and nose bleeds from all the flowers blooming.

The snow didn't get much of a chance to melt today..maybe tomorrow. :) Phoned my son and he said he was in Ottawa..I thought Ottawa Ontario but it is Ottawa Kansas!!

Neighbour was in to return our wheelchair, he uses it to take his Mom for her tests in the city. Makes travelling through the long halways much easier, I know I used it a lot when Kyle wasn't up to walking. Tis a blessing to have but I hope we don't have to use it again.

Didn't hear the robins today but the geese were talking away on the lake.  Soon we will be watching for pussy willows in bloom.

Phyliss is MIA ?

Jane, hope you are ok...take time to breath!

Sandy, we have have grips in the tub and on the outside. Even have one as you step outside the work trailer. A real help to have.

Better tidy the kitchen up....slow tonight.

Well, Amy, tell your son I'm sorry about all the road work on that one stop into Ottawa, KS, sure is a pain in the neck for me, but I like that McDonald's & the parking lot behind it so I can get the RV in & out. There are 4 off & on ramps for Ottawa so wonder which one he uses. Does he plan to come through Wichita or going the other direction?

Will tell you that when my neighbor lady had trouble on the one step from garage floor coming into the hall/kitchen, I got a new drawer pull that I screwed into the door facing in the garage & I find myself using it all the time now. Not too big & just right for a "hand up" on that step!

Our sun has been shinning all day and the temperature is delightful, however a storm is moving in later and it will eventually be snowing once again😢

LARRY, it is always good to see a post from you, especially when you tell of you and Pat spending time with Scott and the girls.

JANE, I do hope the "lot's going on" will not be about anything bad and especially that it'll will not wear you to a frazzle!

SHIRLEY, it is important to check before buying on Amazon as they are not always the best price.  I have not experienced any price changes like you found, but it would not make me happy either and I would always buy local if you can.  We put a nice grab bar on our back patio step to assist me getting in and out the slider, but I do not know why we did not think about putting a couple in the shower then!

CAROL, the wild flowers are beautiful but they do cause many folks problems.  I am not sure you are able to watch the Avalanche in Tucson, but we sure are excited right now for them.  Our youngest son and his wife are going to the game tomorrow night and he bought really good seats, so they are going to enjoy being there.  I was trying to tell Brian about your grandson playing with, possibly rooming with Nathen, but for the life of me, I could not remember where that was? Are you and Don getting ready to head home?

I definitely need a grab bar in our shower but have put off because we are needing to get our bath area remodeled....I think we better get it before I have a fall,.  We took off the glass shower doors when I had all my surgeries back in 2011 and we still have a shower curtain.  I have been thinking what I would feel the safest with and now I know a couple of shower bars is what I need and the other can be either.  Bob pointed out falling into shower doors might be even more dangerous if they shatter....when I expressed concern about falling right through the curtain.

AMY, my first thought of Ottawa was Ontario too...  Does he ever get into the Denver area?  Glad you have the wheel chair back again, but I, too, hope Kyle will never need it again.  Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Tomorrow our oldest grandson will be competing in a GeoBee.  He has wond his school, his district and now this is the state competition.  We hoped to go, but seating is limited to 2 and of course his mom and dad are going!  IF he gets into the finals tomorrow then they will move to a auditorium and there will be seating. If the weather is not too bad we will drive up and watch him.  It is being healed at Denver University.

I hope EVERYFRIEND has had a good day.

Jenn

Just gonna say "Good Night Everyfriend".  I'm so tired I watched a little TV through my eyelids after my friend dropped me off tonight.  Now I'm heading for the real sack and some good sleep....I hope!  I wish you all a peaceful sleep and a happy tomorrow.

Good morning Everyfriend!  This day is starting pretty off normal.  I hope it stays that way.  I don't have to work until 10 so I have time to think about things this morning.  Right now, the doggies and I are waiting for the boinger.  When that goes off, we'll be really starting our day.

Right now, I'm here in the Soda Shoppe to see what's up for the day.  So far, it looks like "what's up" is AMY.  And she's off and running....as usual!

I'll try to be back later to check in on all of you.  I wish you a great day.  Grab it and make it your own in every way.  God gave it to us to use as we wish.  Thank Him!

I'm not MIA today but thanks for thinking about me, Amy.  Have been on the run with errands that needed to be done.  It takes me longer to get things done and longer to recuperate from doing them. ::)

Ottawa, Kansas!  My hometown. Not much to it but it was a good town for a kid to grow up in.  Almost everyone in town looked after the kids......and reported whatever they were doing to Mom and Dad!   :-[   If we were somewhere we shouldn't be or doing something we shouldn't do, it wasn't long before our parents knew about it!

I have two bathing chairs.  One for my shower and a transfer bench for the tub in the other bathroom.  Unfortunately, my shower is so small that if I put the chair in there is no room for me so I'm looking for a smaller bench that will be sturdy but will let both of us fit in the shower.  I have grab bars everywhere in all three bathrooms and use them all the time.

I bought some cauliflower at the store yesterday so plan to try Amy's Cauliflower Soup today.  It sounded so good.

Yesterday's weather was almost perfect.  Beautiful, but could have been a tad warmer.  Today is supposed to be the same but a few degrees warmer.  I love it!

I send a smile and a hug to all of you and wishes for a good day.

Good morning everyone, 43° and no sunshine, just a cloud cover so far. Weather guesser says rain later. Hard to believe we are already close to he end of March and it really has not warmed up much here.

LARRY  sorry you almost fell in the shower. Don't you have a shower stool? I bought one years ago when my back and legs started bothering me. I would be unable to shower without it.

GLORIA de  I am so happy we have a town car here for medial appointments. I call as soon as I get home to book them. If they are already booked  I ask when they have an opening and call back to reschedule my appointment.

LLOYD  a good night's sleep sure helps us.

SHIRLEY  I don't have a back on my shower stool and it swivels around, I feel safe in the shower with it or I would never be able to shower anymore. Like you I like reading the reviews before buying something.

AMY  pussy willows are something else I have not seen in years. I always picked some and keep  the new ones.

JENNY  I do have a fear of falling and will not take any step where I don't have my rollator or can grab hold of something.

JANE glad you posted last night. You know how we worry when someone does not post.

AMY  is that old Willie Nelson song "On the Road Again" your theme song? It should be, hardly a day goes by that you are not driving someplace.

PHYLLIS  what you said about Ottawa, Kansas is how this town used to be. Too many new people now.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  Once again we are to have a very nice day getting up into the low 80's.  Our nights are still chilly but no frost in the forecast and hopefully that is over for this Spring.  Scott was here for about an hour yesterday and did bring out a Firehouse Sub, which served as my main meal for the day.  I really got nothing accomplished yesterday as just wasn't up to it.  It looks like today may be a replica of yesterday.  I did enjoy watching one of the basketball games last evening.

Lindancer, I think I am now using the oxygen more hours of the day than I am without it.  I hope your ride situation worked well.

Amy, we have a bath chair but it really isn't very safe and I didn't like using it.  From now on I plan on just taking sponge baths at the sink as will be able to sit for most of it.  I do have to find an easy way to wash my hair but have a couple of ideas I will try. My experience yesterday of almost falling two or three times in the shower really frightened me.

Shirley, They don't have lilacs here in South Caroline and guess it must be that the winters are not cold enough.  We had a lot of them in Missouri as I grew up.  We have had similar experiences with Amazon and one time I was able to use the back button to the page with the cheaper price and ordered it at that price.  Pat has run into a lot as she does a lot of online shopping.  Often she finds that Walmart has a cheaper price on some mail order items.

Jenny, please don't put off getting the grab bars installed until you have a falling accident.  They are not unattractive.  When you remodel your grab bar can be removed and reused in your new bath.  I hope your grandson had great success in the GeoBee yesterday.

Phyllis, Stacey had to use a transfer bench in your apartments as they had tubs and she had her amputated legs.  The apartments did put in grab bars for her.

Gloria, I don't take many steps without holding on to my rollator and when I do I can hold on to the kitchen cabinets or other places.  It is hard for me to realize how all of this has happened for me in less than three months.  I am concerned about the next three months but it will be what it is and I will adjust as necessary.  I am still working on documenting everything for Pat and Scott to use when that time comes.  Yesterday we decided to cash in a small investment in order to simply things and will soon close one of the two bank accounts we have.

I must be feeling a bit better today as see I have made quite a few comments, although didn't try to address everyone but know you all understand.

What a grand day out. Snow I melting and water is everywhere.  I came home with 3 quilt backings and a quilt panel with deer on it to use...

Shirley, I was just talking with David and he said he spent the night at Love's Truck stop. He was just going through Caldwell MO heading east.

Jenny ,no he doesn't get into that area. The wheelchair has been a blessing and not just for us.

I came home from work more tired than usual.  I took care of the doggies, set the alarm and zonked on the sofa.  Two hours later, I'm up and about.  I have to start thinking about supper and changing my clothes because my neighbor/friend is picking me up around 6:40 go to a movie at her church.  They have these outings for the ladies regularly and she always asks if I'd like to go.

Larry, my prayers are with you.  It sounds like you need a few right now.

I hope everyfriend is having a good day and that you will finish it off with a flourish!  I'll try to look in later to see what you've all been up to!  Have fun!

I've stopped in here half a dozen times today, would start a post, phone would ring & I got off the computer & since I wasn't typing to a wordpad, lost the post. Wan't ever anything important. Son came by to pick up his camper instead of sleeping in a tent at the Boy Scout camp.... he keeps his CPR certificate current so he can work with the boys to earn that badge... he loves being with the kids but this time being a little cautious as the cardiologist hasn't totally released him since the surgery. Anyway, he's called twice to let me know that the heat pump in his little A frame camper works great. He took along student papers to grade (teaches 2 classes at local college) & the aircraft company he retired from has asked him to come back "on his terms" (work from home & reports in once a month)... keeping busy as well as taking care of his 2 grandkids off & on all week. He was not nearly as busy when he worked FULL time!

Had a misty rain all day & big cool down. Not much to show for my day. I think I am getting lazy. Just remembered I have 2 of my batteries charging in the garage... got all these Black & Decker tools for the yard (Christmas presents). I used the hedge trimmer to cut down the tall cane, the blower to clean up that mess and yesterday I got out the weed-whip to see if I could kill off the weed that grows next to the sidewalk out back... trying to kill it! About to quit fighting the weeds, they have taken over in places. Wonder why we don't just settle for anything green?  Time to call the yard guy & get the first trim. Had mid 70 one day this week & weather guessers calling for snow flurries tonight, hope it doesn't freeze the red buds back again.

Larry, I cashed those I-bonds so it would be easier for the kids "later on".  Since Cas & I used separate banks & check books (we were each on the other's) I did close his credit card (even had separate ones of those)... because he used it all the time & I didn't want any bill paid automatically. Good thing as auto club & one insurance, when I called about the renewal said, "I'll just put this on your credit card"... to which I explained why he shouldn't, that card was closed. One of those ones that you have to call every year to get it half price! I hope & pray that you will feel better when we all get over the change from winter to summer.

Hard to tell how we are doing when seasons are changing. I was a little concerned after my last Echo because "by the numbers" one valve is in critical mode & the one replaced 6 years ago is down by 40%, I'm guessing since "they say" it's good for 10-15 years, I've used up a little over a third of my usage. Not crazy about that thought... so decided not to think about it for now. Like I told my doctors, "I'm going to LIVE until I die"... and hope to hang in until 100. We never know. Gloria de, I'm taking note of your usage of oxygen & doing all you do. Impressive, for sure.

I really did type posts several times today & would close out when the phone rang & someone I knew would talk a long time. Right now my brain is calling for sleep so think I need to shut up & find those zzzzzzzzzzzzs Jane keeps looking for.

Oh, Gloria, I've never seen one of the shower seats that swiveled... that would have been what Cas needed with the shower door the way it is. Hope I remember when I need to get one, I sure wouldn't use this elephant that Cas bought. These bathrooms don't have grab bars or anything & I don't plan to remodel. I'm glad the one I use doesn't have the sliding doors to the tub/shower because the track on the tub is that much higher for these short legs to step over. The house we built, the master bedroom/bathroom had just a shower, no tub... but just had to step over about a 3" bottom to get in.

Yesterday I went to the local battery store, called first & was assured they had the battery I needed. It looked right so I didn't even bother checking the tiny numbers in the store, 2 guys working the register double checked & even showed them the paper the guy from Cabela's gave me with numbers & had the battery with me to make sure the right size. Got home & before I opened the package I had a good look at the numbers & they did NOT match!  I called right back & was told they don't have that number "but they'd check to see if they had one that would work". I took it back for refund, said I wasn't using anything other than what was in it! Last night Amazon posted that $14.99 price on those batteries again & the "others like it"... same brand, for $22.94. I guess what happened is when I put the cheaper ones in my "basket", they substituted & thought I wouldn't notice. So I ordered & we will see how this turns out. It comes from a "reseller/vendor" & the higher prices ones show "from Amazon". Do not understand when they are identical packages, all coming from China. :idiot2:  You may hear me roar from coast to coast if they aren't what they say because I "clipped" all the promises & warranties, a whole row of little JPEGs on my desktop! ;D To be honest, I've spent more on gas trying to buy them in town than what they cost. Ah, well, kept me busy~~

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Good morning everyone..

This is what we are in for today.

Today
Cloudy. Periods of snow mixed with ice pellets beginning this morning then changing to rain mixed with ice pellets this afternoon. Risk of freezing rain this afternoon. Snow and ice pellet amount 5 cm. Wind up to 15 km/h. High plus 2. Wind chill minus 9 in the morning. UV index 2 or low.
Tonight
Periods of rain mixed with ice pellets changing to snow mixed with ice pellets near midnight. Risk of freezing rain this evening and overnight. Snow and ice pellet amount 5 to 10 cm. Wind up to 15 km/h. Low minus 4. Wind chill near minus 9.I had hoped to hang laundry out as I think the snow is low enough the bedding won't drag. We shall see.

March has gone swiftly and all too soon it will be bug time. Mosquitos and blackflies  will be next. and lots of them!

Shirley sounds like your son enjoys these outing just as much as the boys do.

Jane, hope you enjoyed the movie last night.

Larry, in the past you have likely burnt the candle at both ends, time to slow down and rest you have earned it

Gloria, I would love to stay put but it  seems there is always something going on. Today we have to head into town to pick up Kyle's blister pack. We were going to do it yesterday but came a different way home. I am sure he must get stir crazy so we go out for coffee in the morning each day. Then there are all the Dr trips. One of which is coming on Tue.There are times I wish there were two of me as my friend is having trouble with her pacemaker zapping her and also has an appointment on Tue and wanted me to take her. We shall see how things all work out.

Phyliss, I understand on taking longer to re-coup...these long drives  take the starch out of me. Plus if we go to the city there is always shopping to do.

Better get the laundry started .

Enjoy your day.

Good morning everyone, a whole 41° and supposed to get into the low 60's today. Hope so, can open windows without the witch yelling.  Weather guesser said we will have some sunshine, not all cloudy like yesterday.

LARRY  wonderful post from you yesterday. I seldom go into my kitchen with my rollator, the threshhold is high and hard to get over but I can hold onto the counters so not too bad.

LLOYD  glad you are getting more sleep.

SHIRLEY  at times I would love to relax in a tub but only a walk in shower here. The son that lives here and my DIL have to me I can go to there home and get in their whirlpool bath but I laugh and tell them I could not get into it or out of it.  I bet it would help my back feel good for a few hours if I could use it.

AMY  with all you do, you have no time to get bored or get cabin fever. I know at times I would love to go shopping, just to get into a store and see what is new. Then I think of how I would feel by the time I got home. Would take a couple of days to rest up from it.

Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for a bit and the doggies have had their pills and have been fed and I'm in the process of feeding me right now.

SHIRLEY and AMY, you make me tired just reading about everything you do!  I've decided that today will be a "do as I please" day.  I'm only going to do it if I feel like doing it.  I don't know yet what that will include.

We're into warmer weather today too.  It's already 46º and supposed to go into the high 60s later today.  I can take that every day.  If I had to go anywhere, today would be a good day for that because it's also cloudy.  I could even drive East or West without the sun glare.  I know why it's cloudy today.  Yesterday, I bought a pair of those sunglasses they're advertising on TV that cut the glare and make it easier to see.  I won't be able to try them out today.

My new phone book came yesterday and it's a lot skinnier than last year's book.  I'm sure that doesn't mean fewer numbers.  It probably means a lot smaller print.  The magnifying glass people are making a fortune on me.  I think I have one in every room now.

Prayers for all who need them and some for those who don't think they do.  Enjoy your day.  It's yours!

The sun has been up for awhile but it is just now high enough over the trees that it is beginning to shine in my windows.  We are supposed to be mostly cloudy throughout the day and then rain tomorrow.  Hopefully it will be just a normal rain with no wind.  We are coming up on hurricane season and I hope it won't be as active here as it was last year.  Oh, well, the new roof is doing just fine and the insurance company was very helpful.  Can't complain.

The cauliflower soup last night was a big hit.  David had two bowls of it and I enjoyed one bowl very much.  I think the recipe I used is a keeper in my Soup File.

I plan to just do a little "scratching around the chicken coop" today.  I'll vacuum the center hall and maybe dust a piece of furniture.....or two.  Also, I may bake another Cherry Tart since the last one went over really well and I still have one sheet of pie dough left.  I want to watch the golf match today, too.  I do like Match Play.  Have you been watching, Mary Ann?

It saddens me to read of your preparations, Larry, but I have great admiration for you for doing so much.  It shows your love and consideration for your family  and will give them guidance and peace of mind.  You are in my prayers.

Breakfast is calling.

Good morning.  I am just marking my place.  It is too early for anything special to talk about.

Yesterday  was a kind of lazy day.  Didn't do much. So, I slept pretty good.  It was kind of stuffy, so I turned the little fan on that I have in the bedroom and it really helps me to sleep.

Looks like it is going to be a partly cloudy day, but up  in the 60's.   And, then cold again, the first of the week.  WIll SPRING ever get here.

Larry, I continue to keep you in my prayers also.  But it was nice to see a longer message from you yesterday.  Hope that today will be a better day.

Gloria, I, also, would just love to be able to get down into a nice hot bubble bath.   I only have a walk-in shower, which I really like, but a nice soaking in a real bathtub would feel so nice.

I hope everyone has a great day and able to do something that you really like to do.   A nap , to me, is one of those things.

Joy

good Morning everyone. we are at 36º and light rain here in central MO. I had a good night's sleep again with one middle brake of 9 hours. well I at this time plan on going to shop and work on some recipe boxes. I wan't to surprise some friends with them, seams tho that my Dreiser out weigh my get up and go.Maybe today will be better. the boxes I make have 1/8th finger joint in the corners and engraved 5 head wheat pattern in the front with a humming bird open wings flying to the wheat. and a owl on one end and a horse head on the other. I do the wheat free hand and cheat on the rest with a picture and carbon paper first then the drumeel tool finish. I have lot of boards 3/8th thick to make the boxes out of oak , wield cherry ,spaulded sycamore. cam't fiend spaulded spelling but it is treas that died while under flood water and the sap was up and makes black and grayish cooler in the grain.

Yes, Phyllis, I watched some of the Match Play yesterday.  I often don't watch much of the tours until Sunday when there will be a winner.  I'll have to pay more attention to what goes on today so I can understand Match Play better.

Radar shows we may have had some snow flurries, but I think they've passed.  We do not have as nice a day as yesterday.

It is so nice to walk into a clean living-dining-kitchen area.  Robin does a good job, much more thorough than I ever could/would have done it.  She's Tom's friend and has had her hours at work reduced so needs the money.

Amy, with your weather forecasts, I'd stay inside and not go to town.

Hi Everyone. We are expecting a partly or mostly cloudy day today with a high of around 79 degrees (not bad for the end of March. I had a great nights sleep last night and it was after 9 am before I got up this morning.  I did accomplish a little something this morning as was able to unload the top tray of the dishwasher.  A good friend from Church came over yesterday afternoon to visit us and brought us a large bag of food.  She brought about a gallon of beef vegetable soup, two dozen roast beef sliders and a container of lemon square.  Guess what we had for an early dinner last night and it was all very good.  Pat had a very busy day yesterday including doing laundry and make a large batch of oatmeal raisin cookies, which about did her in.  I hope she will take today easy as she about overdid yesterday.  I have nothing on my schedule for today. I am just going to check in for today as the few things I did this morning before coming to my desk took up most of my energy supply.

Lloyd, a lot of work goes into your jewelry boxes!!
We have snow here, now the ground is covered with about one inch so far.

Mary Ann, we have been to town and back, Meds picked up along with extra milk that I have put into a big pot of rice pudding. Not much sense making one batch as this is really good!! I use Arborio rice and it comes out so creamy.
Laundry is also on the go and soon to be done, then I can go sew.

AMY....KEEP THAT SNOW ON YOUR SIDE OF THE BORDER!  I'm taking my snow shovels to the shed today and bringing out the rakes.  I'm sure I wouldn't be able to rake the snow.  (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/smiley.png)

Have a double batch of rice pudding in cooling now and the last load of laundry in the washer....dogs blankets and I am done :)

  Good Morning,

Starting a week ago today, there was someplace I needed to be every day until yesterday.  Weather was nice enough (absolutely beautiful on Tuesday :) ) that I combined errands with being wherever.

Slept like a log Thursday night but, yesterday morning, I felt like I'd been run over by a truck. Stayed in my gown/robe all day and was a Recliner Radish in between doing a couple of loads of laundry.

Heard one clap of thunder in the wee hours overnight but didn't hear any of the predicted hail and yard doesn't look as if we had any.  So slept well and am leisurely getting some more Domestic Duties done today.

P.E.O. chapter met at one of the Senior Living places where one of the members lives.  We celebrated her 99th birthday.....and she gave the program!  She is a published poet (poetess?) and entertains us annually with her current efforts.  The five new ones were a combination of humor and poignancy. She is amazing

Miss Ellen is back in New York from her experience in Florida so, as far I know, all my chicks are in their nests.  That's a Good Thing. (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/Themes/default/images/post/thumbup.png)

Larry,  I like to take baked slider sandwiches, soup or potato chips and cookies to bereaved families  a few days past the time when they're usually overloaded with casseroles, veggie/fruit trays, desserts, etc.  At that point, it's nice to have a quick meal that doesn't require setting the table.  It's always gone over well.    Did so for a neighbor this week and the first thing the daughter said was,  "Oh!  We needed potato chips!!"

LLoyd,  the little boxes do sound like a Very Special gift. I admire your woodcarving skill!
If you're having snow,  Miss Emily (in Overland Park) probably is, too.  Pretty sure she'd rather have that than the damaging hail we've had in the past couple of weeks.

I also miss a long soak in the bathtub but doubt I could get down or up even with the bars.
Shirley,  it doesn't take remodeling to have the bars put in.  My handiman attached them directly to the tiles and, believe me,  they will NOT come out.

Welcome home, Jane.  Hope you didn't run into icky weather or a lot of roadwork in the OKC area.

Hugs and wishes for An Enjoyable Day to Everyfriend.

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.  We had snow over night so it is still quite cool out today. ThE sun is trying to shine, but there is not a lot of melting going on.

We had a much too active day yesterday.  Our 13 year old grandson was in a National Geographic Bee at Denver University.  He came in 5th place and was happy with how well he did and we sure enjoyed being there watching. There was a long walk involved in getting in to the place, so that was quite the challenge for me, but I made it!

Today our granddaughter is in a dance competition way up north, so she and her parents spent the night up there in a hotel as they had to be there by 7 AM and knew there was going to be a storm.  The two grandsons and the doggie spent the night with us.  They keep us well entertained and are a joy to have stay with us.

I have finished lunch and a few other things, but want to get back to this as  we are about to start a Board Game.  The boys would have liked to go swimming, but for some reason the Grandparents are running on low fuel today.....I sure hate to admit this, but it is a fact.

AMY, I like hearing your decision to not dance with the snowblower today......you deserve a rest.

LARRY, how nice of the lady to bring you and Pat sliders and soup.....so sweet when others show kindness for you.  Friends are bringing i; dinners twice a week for Michele's Family and it is so appreciated.  They would have meals everyday if they would let them!  They accepted two days a week.  BTW, it has been awhile since we have seen Michele and I am sure sad to say she does not look good at all.  All of this chemo daily has really taken a toll on her.  This being a full time mommy trying to keep up is quite the challenge for her.  Bless her heart.

GLORIA, your back would love the soak, but the getting in and out is a BIG challenge for you. 😢😢 I know I would never be able to get up out of a tub.  I can only get out of a pool if it has walking steps....can not use the pool ladder anymore.

CALLIE, I hope Ellen enjoyed her time in Florida.  I thought the play she was in looked cute.  I continue to get email from them.  I did not know if she would be doing another one there or not.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Jenn

Jenny,   Ellen's Florida experience did not end well.
The performances were to be Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday matinees plus Friday and Saturday nights.
The Sunday afternoon matinee on March 10 was cancelled because the lead male became ill 5 minutes before curtain time.  There was no understudy
The next Sunday, he did not show up at all and was discovered asleep in his hotel room. The show began an hour late and a big part of the audience left.
The actor was terminated and the choreographer did the Wednesday matinee - which is the one the family saw.  Obviously, he could dance but he was NOT a singer.

On Thursday morning, the entire cast received e-mails saying the theater company was filing for bankruptcy and the remaining 4 shows were cancelled - as was the rest of the season (3 more shows)  Ellen said they were having issues, anyway - and the behavior of the lead pushed them over the edge.

]The performers staying in provided housing had 24 hours to check out but Ellen was staying with a friend and remained in FL until the day she had planned to go back to NYC.

I cannot believe a production of that size did not have understudies - particularly for the leads and secondary roles!

The Stage Door Theater was located in the Broward Performing Arts Center and there are still performances of various kinds there.

At least, she has something to add to her resume!

Callie, what a horrible experience Miss Ellen must have had.  She is fortunate she was staying with her friend so she didn't have to change her return plans, which can be expensive, too, if they flew.

Hello, Everyfriend!  I've had a very leisurely day today.  As I said earlier, I did as I pleased.....mostly nothing.  My daughter stopped by and  had a nice visit.  After she left, I took the snow shovels to the shed and brought out the rakes.  I cleaned the leftover leaves from around the holly bushes and one of the dogwood trees and I picked up stick and other obstruction left by the dogs in the yard.  Then I went in the house and had supper and collapsed for a bit.

Callie, if your reference to the JANE who might have met with obstructions and traffic around OKC, it wasn't I.  I hope you know that if I'm ever that close to you, I'll make and effort to say a face-to-face HELLO!

Now I'm going to go check my email and then get into my jammies.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Larry, I did get to the hematologist, the lady I hired through the

bark was very nice and she handled my rollator fine, went in and listen with me to what the doctor had to say. Did not have to get the shot,he said to come back in two weeks for it.  It seems my temp was 96 and he wanted wait. do not know what is causing low temp, Can't worry about it.

Gloria, when I was able to get in the hot tub, it really did help my back.  It was just I could not get out like a lady ::)

Mary Ann, The rehearsals and performances so far were good. Ellen became friends with quite a few in the cast and had a good time with them and her friend, who was also in the show (in fact, she was to have had the lead in the next production and be a featured dancer in two others - really sad for her)

Ellen had a round-trip ticket so just stayed until the day she'd planned to leave. I have a feeling the "locals" took care of the ones who had come from away. Several of them had a Taco Party the night after they got the bad news.

Janes, I was referring to the jane from Iowa who just arrived home from the winter in south Texas. Probably meant it for Norm's Bait & Tackle.
You betcha we'd have a face-to-face. You know where I live!

I found a recipe on-line for baking meat balls without having to brown them first. Got 16 from one pound of ground beef; 13 of them are in the freezer. Had made chicken fingers from a chicken cutlet the other night so I'm fixed for main dishes this week.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Callie, I don't think Jane from Iowa posts in Norm's B&T.  I have seen her posts somewhere but I don't remember where.

As for Miss Ellen, it seems her stay in Florida did end well for her, not for her friend.  That is too bad.

Callie, your baked meatballs sound like something I'd like to keep on hand... care to share your recipe, either e-mail or post in here if everyone else wants to sample!...please? ...and thank you.

I'm off to bed, cats had their last meal of the day. Tom & Callie are out but Tiger took off to the other end of the house when I opened the door. It is COLD out tonight. Well, CallieCat came back in.

Jenn, congratulations to the 13 year old... impressive and very good experience at that age! Takes skill to compete, more than just being smart in a subject, don't you think? Love hearing about their activities & you are such great grandparents keeping up with them.

Sorry about Ellen's experience in FL, Callie, but lesson learned that "all that glitters isn't gold"... but sounds like she took it in stride. She does seem to have a good head on her shoulders and plenty of drive to make life interesting.

Amy, my snow blower goes back to the "shed" next week, never even got gassed up. My rake has seen the sunlight a few times already, digging everyone else's leaves out of my flower beds! All of a sudden trees are blooming everywhere & my allergies are over the top. Almost like watching time lapse videos, just turn your head & another bloom opens!

Got to get to bed. Sweet dreams to all. Shirley

Good morning everyone, shocking temperature already 55° at 8:am. Seems like years since it was that warm so early instead of months. Love it. Yesterday was so nice I finally shed the winter jacket when I went outside and it was so nice I stayed out most of the day. A new lady moved in yesterday so met her. Her movers were funny, always joking with those of us who were on the porch. Wonder when the maintenance man will be moving the wicker chairs on the porch. There are a couple of benches out there but not too comfortable to sit on. Another time I am glad for my rollator, have my own seat.

JANE  up till about 10 years ago this is the kind of weather I would be washing walls and windows getting rid of winter grime. Now I am unable to do much of anything.

PHYLLIS  I like most all home made soup, even in hot summer some good clam chowder hits the spot. Of course need clam cakes to go with it.

JOY  I had to laugh when my son told me I could always go to his house and soak in their whirlpool bath. Would never get in or out of it.Might make my back feel much better but no can do so a shower is it.

LLOYD  I love the grain of real wood.  I have wood floors in this apartment but not real wood and cheap imitation and the grain is not like anything I have seen before. Now if you made a recipe box with some Saguaro cacti on it I would pay what you wanted for it. The saguaro cactus always amazed me even before I really saw on when my daughter and SIL took me to Arizona and I finally saw them.

LARRY  looks like you joined the right church when you moved there. Sounds like a wonderful caring group of people. Looks like you wore yourseld out with all you did yesterday. Take it easy.

Just  heard on the news that on this day in 1997 we had a sudden blizzard that started on this day and ended on April first. What an April Fool joke from Mother Nature.

AMY  my Mom made rice pudding and I used to make it, too, but it was baked in the oven. There is something about the bowls I have now that do not work for the baked pudding. I think the bown these days are all to smooth and shiny.

JANE  I got a chuckle picturing you trying to rake snow.

JENNY  I don't think I would be able to pull myself up a ladder out of a pool anymore.

GLORIA de  if I got into a tub I would have to be taken out of it. I do not have the strength in my arms and shoulders to lift myself out.

CALLIE  I know a few others whe bake their meatballs, easier than standing at the stove and turning them.

SHIRLEY  hearing how some people suffer with allergies at this time of year makes me thank God I have none SO FAR!

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is a cloudy morning but we only have a low chance of rain.  I am just going to check in this morning as used up most of my energy getting my bath this morning. I am listening to our Church service from last week.  It is recorded on Sunday morning but not available on the website until towards the end of the week.

The snow is cleaned up, what I could of it. Heavy wet snow and the bottom is full of water.

It was a year ago that we lost Joan, I would imagine June and Joanie are catching up on things now.

Callie, that doesn't seem fair on all the others that work hard for the show. That one person has let all the others down .I would also love your recipe for the baked meatballs please.

Gloria, I had to google the  Saguaro cacti ,they are impressive!! Wonder, do they also flower?  I also love the grain of wood and birds eye maple is one of my favorites.Clam chowder is so good! Used to make it for my friend when he came to have lunch with us..he and I would enjoy it and Kyle would have something else.

Larry, good morning to you...:)

Lloyd, have a wonderful day.take it easy.

Jane, where are you???

Enjoy your day everyone.

I've been to church, stayed for coffee hour and then took a walk through WM Garden center.  I need some help outside and I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and hire someone unknown to anyone I know.

I've baked my meatballs for the better part of 20 years.  When I can spaghetti sauce, I make upwards of 40 plus meatballs and one year I just decided to try it.  It worked pretty well.  Just made my regular meatballs, lined them up on a cookie sheet lined with foil and sprayed and stuck them in the oven at 350.  Checked them after 10 minutes and then turned them a bit every 5 minutes or so.  It worked and it's been working ever since.  Lots less messy than top of the stove and I can do them one day, refrigerate and make the spaghetti sauce the next day.

Can't decide what to do today...maybe a little more raking...maybe not!  Enjoy your day!

Gloria, it was 25 degrees here at 8 am and the wind was blowing.  I wore my Spring coat buttoned and got along OK, but I went from house to car to church to car to restaurant and did not suffer, however, I did feel the wind.

Amy, we noticed snow flurries, but no accumulation.

The sun is not shining today, either.

Good afternoon, beautiful day yesterday, now as I look out it is pouring rain

Gloria, I just read we could have some snow in the Nor'easter that is on its way. Paper said, the temp. could fall 40 degrees :o Yesterday with all the company in and out, I had the slider open.  good to have fresh air in the house'

Callie, I agree with Amy, that one person could ruin it for all the members.

Mary Ann, looks like we are going to get some of your cool weather

Good Afternoon,
Re:  the show in Florida.  Situation was really the fault of the theatre management.  Don't know the exact circumstances but, apparently, they were "hovering on the brink" of financial difficulties, anyway.
They should have had understudies for at least the main roles that could have stepped in at the last minute.
Ellen's  friend had performed in several Stage Door productions during the past three years and always had a good experience.  I'm sure this one was good for Ellen professionally.
She's back in NYC and her usual routine.  All is well.

Here's a link to the Meat Ball recipe.  Directions are similar to the way JaneS does hers.
Scroll past the pictures to get the itemized recipe and directions.
Personal comments:  Another recipe I'd found said to use 1 1/2 oz of meat for each meatball.  I have a scoop that measures ounces and that's how I knew I got 16 balls from a pound of ground beef.
Good idea to turn them half way through the baking time.

Baked Meatballs (https://www.theblackpeppercorn.com/2018/02/how-to-bake-meatballs-in-the-oven/)

March is going out like a lamb in central Oklahoma.  Gorgeous day - even if we did start out with below-freezing temperature.

Have been to church but not OTL.  Two of the group weren't there and the other one had Plans.
I hope to trim back daffodils this afternoon.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

Sounds yummy to me, Callie, I'll be baking them next time I go to Sam's for their Angus hamburger. Thank you. Kind on nippy here today & yesterday after that spring 70s for a few days before.

Gloria, guess you are enjoying our quickie spring. Sure hope that wasn't all of it & go right into summer.  ::) Andy called from his campout & the temps had dropped 40° in minutes (he was prepared... ;)  )... He is on his way back to store the little camper in my spare garage. He used it one night but slept in his tent with the boys last night, each had their own.

I also love real wood and did look for that sycamore type you talked about, Lloyd, but couldn't find anything about it. We have a lot of sycamore trees in KS, I planted one down near the river & it is huge now. Planted another 2 in the front yard but they are still small. Had to have a Cleveland pear tree cut down because it was leaning, it was probably 15 years old but never did grow right. I get these little baby trees growing all over the flower beds & they do better than ones we buy. I move them into a flower pot for a year or so & then transplant when tall enough my "mow-guy" can't run over them.

I'd better keep moving, trying to clean off this table (a week's worth of mail clutter). That sun is deceiving, looks nice out but enough wind to "chill one to the bone".

Found two guys who are willing to do a one time thing in my yard and then talk about doing other stuff.  They are both coming by this week to give me an estimate and talk about what else needs done.  We shall see!

My friend and I were planning to see Dumbo at the movies but it will be a tight squeeze if he decided to come before 4:30.  I guess we shall see that, too.

SHIRLEY, it's very hard not to do what the kids are doing when you go camping with them.  That's one of the fun things about camping with the scouts....Girl or Boy!  I loved seeing them learn to love doing the things at camp that I've loved all my life.  And that's one of the things I miss these days.

I have put up the screen for the doggies to go in and out when they please and we've actually had some weather when I could let the door open so they had that access.  Mickie will just sit on the porch and take it all in.  She doesn't even come back in for her "cookie".  She loves just being outside.

I hope you're all having a good day!

A good Sunday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND💐💐

A little bit of sunshine for us today but it did not get very warm. All the snow from Friday Night is gone though.

AMY, so much for you hoping you would not have to waltz with the snowblower again🥰🥰🥰 Joke, joke....like you were not going to have measurable snow again!  It is just like here...one day summer! Next day back in the deep freeze again!  The joy of living in the Rockies!  I could not believe it has been a year since Joan passed when I saw it on my calendar.  Saguaro Cacti do flower....I will try to send you a nice picture.  A friend of mine in Phoenix lives on a extra large lot and she has the most beautiful blooming cacti.....her yard could be a bontanical garden.  So  pretty.

GLORIA, I thought of you this morning when I was looking at pictures tha5 my AZ friend shared....she was replanting a Occotillo Cacti in her yard along with some golden barrel cacti....her yard is just a treat to see....so many different blooming cact8 and desert plants.....it is spectacular.   How nice to spend time outside with out a coat.  I hope the new neighbors is someone you will enjoy visiting with for a good time to come.

CALLIE, I just hope Ellen got paid at some point and she and the others are not left holding the bag! I thought the pictures were fabulous and I am just sad it did not finish out as planned.  Thank you for sharing the backed meatball recipe.....I have backed mine like this years ago, but have not in a very long time...so this will motivate me.

I fixed the nicest looking bone in center cut pork chops today....they were tasty, but only nice and tender near the bone.....I was SO hopeful they would be as nice as they looked!

Best of luck with the yard men, JANE.  I hope they show up and do just what you want at a fair price.  We have such a hard time getting people to come as promised.  We have been dealing with a guy to install 3 new sky lights since the middle of September. He says our current ones are not a standard size, so he will have to retro fit them, and we just can not believe it.  He has been here 4 times to look at them...one of those he could not get on the roof as there was too much snow up there...now we have had a clear roof and we have not heard a word from him....so disappointing.

Tomorrow is Chemo for Michele at the cancer center so we will be busy all week helping out with the children.

I must run......have a good evening and pleasant dreams to all.

Jenn
