Good morning everyone,  at least it is morning but it is still raining. Hope Noah has room for all of us on his arc.. Maybe this rain will be good for the newly seeded back yard of this building or the rain will wash all the seeds away.

CALLIE  glad one of us is having a good day with perfect  weather. You make we wish I was somewhere where it was dry right now.  Like you I don't like to post personal things, most know my daughter's name because for a short time she was a member here but I don't think I mentioned any other family names.

LLOYD  if anyone held me up with a gun they sure would not get much for their trouble. Of course I would be scared to death.

JENNY  glad you are home safe once again. I would be a basket case if I did not get on Skype with my daughter every day so I can sympathize with you about seeing your Dad on Facetime.

AMY  sorry that idiot light keeps coming on in your van. One son had that problem with a van he had and come inspection time he always had trouble. No matter what the garage did that light would keep coming back on. So many now do their banking online but I am not one of them. If I make a catalog order it is on the phone, don't want anything like that on the PC for a hacker to find. Oh that photo of the bread makes me hungry to have some home made bread. I grew up with that aroma several times a week. My Mom baked it often and I did, too. when my 3 were young and before I went back to work. I never minded the kneading. These days I would not be able to even make the dough.

Gosh I really am posting early, even Jane is not here yet.

Have a good day.

Oh yes I am here, GLORIA!  I was just finishing reading.  As usual, the doggies got me up at the crack of dawn and we went outside to stand in the rain for a bit.  But that'so OK...they did what they went out to do.

When we came back in, I hit the couch for an extra hour and I must have slept like the dead because when the boinger went off, it took a bit to register in my subconscious and then to actually wake me up.  Usually Annie helps the boinger but today she just watched.

Yesterday, I said I was going to change the bed and then entailed washing everything on the bed.  I did that and it took 3 loads.  Then I went on to do the regular laundry and the sofa covers and that was another 4 loads.  I still had to put the towels away from the last time doing laundry.  So I was pretty busy.  And about half way through, I noticed that stuff wasn't getting dry and needed a second go-round.  By the time the last two loads were in, they needed 3 go-rounds.  I texted my son to ask if it was the dryers fault or "user error".  He said the vents probably need cleaned out and he was going to be out of town today.  He'd try to take care of it over the weekend for me.  It involves moving the dryer out of place and cleaning the vents and then cleaning the outsided vent.  This is something I'm not even going to think of trying myself.  Ad I told him not to worry and that I'd just started the last load for the third time so I was OK.

Today his "out of town" includes his daughter, Kiran.  They are spending the day together while Mom takes a day off a home to watch the dog and, as she says, LOAF!  They will all enjoy it.

My daughter the gardener will be here tomorrow by granddaughter isn't coming.  She's going to be the dog sitter too.  They have 3 including her own.  When she visits me, he comes along.  When she lived in town here, we got to be pretty good friends.  Even Annie wags her tail when I mention his name.

I'll be off to work at 10 a.m. so wish me smiles.  Today will be busy due to it also being the day of the Farmers Market.  Lots of people do both and I'm hoping I get to see my 3 friends who do both most Wednesdays.

I think maybe the rain stopped.  It was only predicted to last until around 8.  I don't mind if it rains at night.  I don't have to water all the plantings when rain is predicted.  But I'm really tired of it in the day time.

I wish you all a pleasant day full of the love of family and friends.  It's yours!  Have it any way you please!

The sun is shining this morning and that is nice.  We had more severe storms yesterday afternoon and evening.  Lots of trees down and power outages but we are OK in our neighborhood.

Amy, my bread machine is a Zojirushi and I used it a lot but haven't baked bread in a long time.  All of our grocery stores here have very good bakeries plus several specialty bakeries that are close by with all kinds of bread and pastries.  It is so easy to let someone else do all the work so I go with that for our weekly bread. And, in our hot summers I don't want to turn on the oven.   But, that link is tempting me to put something in the bread machine.  Thinking....

I don't plan to do much today.  Grocery shopping yesterday left me feeling pretty tired even though I slept good last night.  I'll eventually catch up though.

Nancy went with our daughter to go to a church reunion down by wheatland MO. I am going to try to get the big mower hooked up on the little tractor and mow the yards, we have about 3 1/2 or 4 acre's of yard to mow. with the temp and wind Like it is not anxious to get at it. the lift chair and T V looks better. I am going there and get a good movie and think about it. after my morning feed. see you all later.

phyllis you came in while I was posting, good to see you and I am with you I like the honey oat bread made in one of our bread machines but is too hot to heat up the kitchen with it. when the temp is better I usualy am the one that fixes the bread (sure is good though when it fresh hot and butter and honey on it with a cold glass of Milk.Have a great day.

Good morning.  Still a chilly morning, but supposed to warm up later and prediction is for a beautiful summer weekend.  Really looking forward to that.

Amy, thanks for you message about the bread maker. I love the idea of the little buns.  That would work for me.  I do tend to eat a lot of bread when I can get a loaf of good crusty bread. I like sourdough bread the best. I guess you could make the little buns out of any kind of dough.  I really have to think about it, as I don't have a lot of counter space. And, it is pretty crowded right now.  But, thanks for your input.

Jenny, glad that you got back home safely. I know it was hard to leave.

My grandson and family were supposed to leave around 3 or 4 a.m. to go up to Connecticut to see his brother and sister.  They wanted to leave while the children were asleep and hopefully, they will sleep most of the way. It is about a 6 hour trip, so they should be pretty close by now.

Mark did show me how to Facetime with my Kindle,. so I hope I can remember how to do it.  He promised me they keep in touch while they are up there.  I know they all will have a fun time.

Mary Ann, I know my post over in the B & T looked ok, in spite of the two different colors, but I had fooled a long time to try to get everything in the "blue".  Hopefully, this one will turn out.

Gloria, I can sympathize with you about taking so long to do things.  I am like you too, as I have a hard time standing for any length of time.  And, it does take me a good while to get myself ready to go out somewhere. I usually allow myself at least 2 hours to get a shower and get dressed.  But, once I get ready and get out the door, I do feel better.  I just read a message on our bulletin board that our manager will be taking off every Friday from now on. Everybody is all up in the air, as she seems to be taking more and more time off. She claims she has meetings and training sessions to attend, but, nobody believes that.  I don't have much contact with her.  I usually only see her when I hand her my monthly rent and when I have to renew my lease. She is the 7th or 8th manager we have had since I have moved here, 12 years ago.  That tells you something is not right.  We have had 1 manager that was a man, and he was the best one that we ever have had. But, he left because it took him over an hour to get to work and he wanted something closer to his home. Everybody was really so disappointed when he left.  He got things done the right way.

I have had my breakfast and need to decide what to get into this first day of Summer.  Sure doesn't feel like summer right now.  Very chilly and very windy.  Hopefully, it is supposed to get up in the 80's later.

Hope all the friends will have a great day.

Hi everyone on a beautiful  morning here in South Carolina after a really dreadful night around our area. About 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon a really severe storm hit in this general area.  Our power was off for about 12 hours. I had a very nice night sleep as it was nice and quiet.

My sister and brother-in-law got in town yesterday and we haven't seen them yet as it had a rough trip and had spent a night in a motel before they left South Dakota with a needle when I'm got any sleep. They will be out later this morning.

I am not going to make any individual comments  today until I get the Internet back as it is hard to go back-and-forth. I will be back and hope y'all have a good day.

Lloyd Hammond

well we have had hard t storms and Shirley's Hail this am still overcast. some one can have the rest of it if they like. Have a good rest of the day.

Hi Everyfriend!  Today was a pretty good day at work.  It was VERY busy when I first got there but it started to slow down right before my break and was much easier to handle after my break.  There were two very nice ladies through my line and I had time to talk with hem both before aother customer came by.  With one of them I shared memories of our childhoods.  We had very different ones but at the same time so we remembered a lot of the same types of things.  The other lady grew up in an environment similar to mine and our memories were very much alike.  Even our present lives are a lot alike.  That was nice with both of them.

I'm kind of tired and it got a little chilly this afternoon.  We had some rain and the wind came up...not strong but enough to chill the air.  I think I'll try to go to bed early because I'm sure my daughter will keep me moving tomorrow.  She gets started and she doesn't stop with the gardening.  I try to keep up but I really don't make it!  We both go to bed early on our work days.

I'll try to come back before I go to bed but if I don't, it's just because I'm tired.  And I'll try to check in tomorrow morning but I won't have much time during the day.  And Sunday will be them same.  Don't worry!  I'll be back when I can!

Quite a change outside from yesterday. Today has been sunny but it's also hot, muggy and windy enough to almost bend the tall cottonwood trees over double.  Only stuck my nose out long enough to go to the mailbox.

And,, of course, over the weekend we are supposed to have the usual rain/hail/high winds, etc. etc. The local lake has opened after several weeks of high water around the picnic/camping areas but weather gurus are cautioning everyone about watching for approaching storms with lightning and/or staying overnight.

Janie, sounds as if you're going to have a gorgeous yard.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying what my family did in mine.

Have never had a bread machine and suspect if I did, I'd weigh about 3x as much as I ought to.  Love fresh-made bread slathered with butter and jam (not jelly).  (What's the old saying?  "Must be jelly 'cause jam don't shake that way")

Hope Everyfriend has had an Enjoyable Day.

JaneS

Just took the doggies for their final outing and I'm off to bed.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow and many God bless us, every one!

CALLIE, I think I might be the only one in my family that never inherited my father's "farming instinct".  Christy, loves it and everything she puts in the ground grows!  I'm enjoy the run off!

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday was an awesome day!

Took Babe in for her first spa day. Girls made her feel at ease dispite Babe shaking but in the end she settled down and the stylist had no problem with her. Out Babe came all soft ,shiny and nails done.
Stopped and picked up two mens quilts as my supply has dwindled and then we had lunch at DQ and head home  into town for Kyle to have blood work done and pick up his blister packs.  I slept the night through..

Today is a lovely sunny day and laundry will soon be hung on the line. Not sure what else is going on, should bake but we shall see.

Take care and enjoy your day everyone.

I don't know if I'm up before everyone else o if you're just slow this morning.  I've had the doggies out, waited out the hour for their pill, fed them breakfast and hurried in here to grab a cup of coffee before the day gets started.  Christy is on her way and I still have to get some mulch, make the bed, get dressed and be ready when she gets here.  (Not necessarily in that order)

When we are both in a state of collapse, I might get a chance to check back but I'm not counting on it.  So you'll just have to get along without me for the rest of the day....and maybe tomorrow, too!

Now the doggies are ready for their after breakfast constitutional and they think it's MY responsibility to see to that.  I'd rather not disillusion them so I'll go and take care of that and some other stuff, too.  Enjoy your day!  I know I will enjoy mine.  Just having my daughter here would be enough.  The rest is "icing on the cake".

AFTER NOTE:  Good Morning AMY!  You sneaked in on me!

I was a little restless last night but I think I got enough sleep to at least get me to my after-lunch nap.  Gosh, what a tough life I lead!

Cloudy this morning but a little cooler than the last couple of days.  Nothing is said about severe weather coming....yet.  I don't plan to go to the farmer's market after all.  I would like to but my feet and legs are not doing too well this morning so I don't think a lot of walking over uneven ground or gravel would be a good idea.  I don't really have storage room in the fridge for more fruit and vegs., anyway.

Callie, with or without a bread machine I have to be careful because I am a bread eater.  Love all kinds of bread....warm or cold, it doesn't matter.  And a little homemade jam or apple butter doesn't make it any easier to resist.

Amy, you should call your "puppy" Babe the Beautiful after the great day at the spa went so well.  I made rice pudding in the IP.  It was good and easy but I think I'll cut the recipe in half.  We will be eating rice pudding for several days.   :o

Don't work too hard in the yard, Jane.  Enjoy your daughter while she is here.

Take care, All.

Good morning.  I am up but not quite "at em" yet. I have had breakfast, but thinking of taking a little cat nap before I decide what today will bring.

Good morning  Jane, Amy and Phyllis.  You are all the early birds.

Jane, I am sure you probably have already gotten all those chores done, that you mentioned.  I know you will enjoy the day with your daughter.  I hope we get to see some pictures of your beautiful up and growing gardens.

Phyllis, I would not have any trouble getting rid of a big bowl of rice pudding. I just can't seem to get around to making myself any, and I do love it.

Amy, sounds like your little dog must look like a "little Princess" with getting all fussied up.  Enjoy your day.

Good morning to all the other special friends who will come in at some point of the day.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy the same kind of a beautiful day as is shaping up in my little corner of the world.

Hi everyone on a beautiful South Carolina morning. I'm just going to check in today because the morning is passing quickly and my family will soon be here. I will go back and read the previous post things this time allows her today while I'm resting or maybe even tomorrow. Hope all is well. I'm having a great time with my family and I'll tell you about it later.

Gloria

Good morning everyone YIPPEE the sun is shining and NO rain for today. That alone sure makes me a happy camper. Just heard on local weather that tomorrow will be warmer but in the afternoon there could be a chance of a thunderstorm with strong wind and hail. Showing the beaches already and some surfers are in the water and several people are already on the beach for the day.  They are the smart ones. by noon the sand will be packed with people.

JANE  enjoy your daughter-the gardner-visit today. I know you will miss your granddaughter.

PHYLLIS  I get worn out every time I go anywhere, even to the vampire the other day. Takes a few days to rest when I get home. Maybe I need to get out more?

LLOYD  nothing better than a slice of still warm homemade bread with butter melting into it.

JOY  your manager sounds like the one here. If she ever put in an 8 hour day I have yet to see it. She was called on the carpet at least once since I have been here. She comes in late, goes out for a 2 hour lunch and most days she leaves early. She is good with the books but she does not have any idea on what we seniors need to live comfortable. She is the second manager here, the first one went back to where she used to work and those who have been here since it opened 12 years ago all liked her.

LARRY  looks like the bad weather/storm is on it's way here tomorrow afternoon.

CALLIE  maybe I should invest in a bread machine but bake it  in the oven. Best aroma and  taste, maybe I would gain a few much needed pounds. Like you with jam, never jelly. Had not heard jam/jelly reference in many years.

AMY  glad those girls made Babe relax to enjoy her beauty treatment.

JANE  I have been sitting here taking my time reading when I should be getting dressed and ready for when my son gets here for his weekly visit. Really don't feel much like moving though.

PHYLLIS  wish I could have some baked rice pudding that my Mom made and I used to, too. None of my bowls work for making it and the bowl I used broke.

LARRY  enjoy your company.

Have a good day.

Good morning from Grand Rapids.  We are to get into the mid 70s today and that is my kind of temperature.  Radar looks like we will have a clear day with no rain.  Tomorrow might be different.

Tom and I went to the IHop for lunch yesterday and we had not been there in a while.  We went late so the place was nearly empty and we were able to have a good conversation.  He may live with me, but he's usually downstairs or away from home so this was a good way to talk and it was quiet.

I've showered and shampooed and it is time to get dressed.

I like bread too and that possibly shows up in my "broad beam" but I'll keep eating sandwiches.  Occasionally, I am content with a peanut butter sandwich - with mayo and no jelly or jam.

It's nice enough that the cat and I can sit on the deck at times today.  I have his grass out there and he chomps on that or just looks through the rails or sleeps.

All is well here..

Good Morning,

Cottonwood trees are bending double again and humidity makes it feel like the tropics.  Guess it will be another inside day.

Fortunately,  I have some "sorting and saving" projects I could do on the computer.  I tend to lose track of the time (not "loose", which means it's hanging but still there  ;) ) when I'm doing something like this so will set the timer to remind me to "20/20" (take 20 seconds to look at something 20 feet away every 20 minutes - supposed to help keep vision from blurring while looking at the screen a lot).

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Carol

Banana bread made with Splenda instead of sugar is in the oven - I will slice and freeze portions for Don.  For any recipes, a cup of sugar is called for and I use a cup of Splenda.  It is so lightweight.

My Kitchen Aid mixer weighs a ton and it has to be stored on the bottom of a cabinet.  Good grief, things are getting tougher to handle.  I have an iPot now as well and store that in a cabinet.

Phyllis:  I seem to be making a lot more soup but do want to fix things in the iPot - your idea of the rice pudding would be nice.

Callie:  Good idea to change where we are looking.  I saw something in the news about neck problems with youngsters - all from looking down at the portable boob tube (cell phone).

Denver

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND🦋🦋🦋

We are having the craziest weather around Colorado.....no one would ever guess that yesterday was the first day of summer.  We had snow in the mountains and cool temperatures here.  Today is a repeat.....breaking all kinds of records.  A few minutes ago it was so dark out we had to turn on lights!  A few claps of thunder scared the beegeebers out of me🙀🙀

Yesterday I had to go to my doctors office to have my blood drawn for my yearly physical next week.  It is tradition that we go have a "throw caution to the wind" meal afterwards just cuz we can!  We tried to get in to two different breakfast places called "Snooze", and there was a one and a half hour wait at both, so we gave up!  Hard to believe on a Friday morning there could be that many people out eating breakfast.  Ended up going downtown, eating a expensive chicken sandwich at a open air place and enjoyed ourselves completely....acted like we did not have a care in the world UNTIL a down pour caught us!  We hoped it would not last too long and we could enjoy more time just looking around.  It was not meant to be🙀

LARRY, smiling as I think about you visiting with your sister and brother-in-law. ENJOY your time together💞

Happy for you, JANE, having your daughter there to finish up the gardening for you and having special time together.

PHYLLIS, I agree, "Bebe the Beautiful" is a perfect name for AMY's sweet girl❣️  Happy to read you felt it best to stay home and be safe rather than try to go to the farmers market.

AMY, happy to read Bebe settled down and enjoyed her spa day! Wishing I could pop in and have a good "wiff" of the clothes that are dried on the line today🥰

JOY, I did not realize that you, too, have a nasty ol' bag of a building manager just like GLORIA does🤬🤬. Those kind of people sure should not be managers of a retirement aged building😣

SANDY, how nice to read you were out and about enjoying the nice weather.  My Boston Son sent pictures of them at a new park dedication in Boston and it looked like a beautiful day there too.

CAROL, I saw the thing about neck problems too, and it is no wonder as that seems to be the daily head position of many these days.  It sure is green and beautiful around here with all of the rain we have been getting, isn't it?

Have a good rest of your day......we are going to Dave and Family for dinner....we have missed them all having been gone for over a week.

Good morning everyone..

Looking to be a grand day out there..may get rain later this evening. A day of rest here, may just sit and finish sewing a binding on a quilt, I find that so relaxing to do. Yesterday was laundry and made peanut butter cookies and some coconut oatmeal cookies.

Jenny, I agree with you, people like that should not manage a building like that. They should be thankful for a job.

Carol, I did turkey soup in the IP and it is so nice not to have a pot of boiling water on the stove making soup. In jig time the soup was done.......and delicious!

Mary Ann, broad beam gives us balance....that's my story and I am sticking to it. :)) I too, love bread...right from the oven and I like the heel of the bread.

Callie, bending double doesn't sound good to me...stay safe.

Sandy, we have been getting a lot of windy weather here also. Great for drying clothes on the line .

Gloria, we are to have rain Mon, Tue ,Wed unless the weather guesser changes their mind.

Joy, this was the first time she has been at a groomers/spa day.. I think she really enjoyed it and we will take her back again. She has silky soft fur now after a winter of just snow baths.

Phyliss, can you post the recipe for us please. You can't bribe Babe with food, she turns her nose up at any treat when at the vets or at the doggie spa. But, shower her with compliments and she will wiggle inside out.

Better get  a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Gloria, when I make Baked Rice Pudding I use my Grandmother's Bowl.  That is a baking dish that my Grandmother used more than a 130 years ago and I am VERY careful with it.  Like you, Baked Rice Pudding never tastes as good as it does made in that bowl.  The Instant Pot makes rice pudding from scratch so fast but I still like it better when it is baked in "Grandma's Baking dish".

Amy, I found the Instant Pot Rice Pudding recipe here:  https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/the-best-pressure-cooker-rice-pudding/

Instead of Arborio rice I used Basmatti but I would guess that any rice would work just as well.  It was quick and easy.  When you finish cooking on Saute it looks very "liquidy" but as it cools it thickens up a lot.

Jenny, I remember it as always being cold up at Steamboat Springs but it is a little late in the year to have that much snow up there.  Just think how full the reservoirs will be for next summer.   After all these years I still miss CO a lot.  I loved it when we lived there!

Carol, my Kitchen Aid mixer sits unused way back in the corner of my counter.  I was thinking that I ought to get rid of it and all of the attachments I have because I haven't used it in years.  I can't lift it at all.

Mary Ann, I was watching the Duluth canal cams yesterday and it was a beautiful sunrise.  My favorite cam is the one at Silver Bay, up on the North Shore.  It is so soothing to watch it even though hardly anything moves.  So quiet at the marina with all the beautiful boats it is almost like having a few moments of "Meditation".

Good morning, Lloyd and Larry.  I look forward to hearing about your family's visit, Larry.  And, Lloyd, all I can say to you is just be careful today and NO accidents.

Sandy, it is nice you can get out for a downtown walk on a beautiful day in Maine.  Enjoy it!

To everyone else, I hope it is a good day with beautiful weather and pleasant company where you all are.

Good morning everyone, no rain in the forecast today, good. We did have a thunderstorm in the late afternoon yesterday. My grandson just a few miles away had some hail, small and nothing damaging.

JENNY  we had some loud boomers yesterday. Being on the top floor I wondered if they were coming  through the roof above me.  I have heard horror stories about managers at different senior housing places, too. We will be having a big meeting here on July 1st about our leases. Some have a bunch of questions but the rules in the lease are just that. Of course the with has made some rules of her own that were just what was discussed at the last meeting a year ago. It starts at 10:30 in the morning. Some days I am not even dressed yet at that time. Also the day my CNA comes back to work, she gets here at 12 noon. Boy did I miss her last week.

AMY  I would fight you for the heel of that warm bread and lots of butter on it. Oh, t here are 2 heels right? we could each have one, no fighting. Hope we don't have rain  tomorrow, have an appointment and dislike going anywhere anymore even on nice days.

JOY  hoe we have better weather in the coming week. At least it has not beeen too hot.

PHYLLIS  the bowl I used for the rice pudding was my Mom's, too. It always was like custard when baked. Have no idea how old it was. I do know that the bowls today that are all smooth and shiney do not work. Like you I used Basmati rice, like the flavor of it.

I will not be here tomorrow.

Have a good day.

I forgot to tell you all we went yesterday to My class reunion.Had a good time visiting with all that are still surviving, the year was 1957 we did that step out in the real world and started the real life of hard knocks.
lots of hard Knocks but all in all more good times. they were two that are still surviving that were not there so we filled out cards and sent to them, there were i think 20 there I am going to go look up a class annual and count how many there were of us, 1957 was the first year in our school that black children was allowed to attend same school, the one black boy in Our class was Marvin Shockley. He was driving too fast around a corner and rolled the car over on its top in deep water and drowned. that was so sad he had fit right in to our class just fine good friend.

Phyllis, I like the Silver Bay marina too.  I wish we could see better where the ships go, but I like to travel around the marina, boats or none.  Norm used to have a boat and kept it at Grand Haven so I am used to marinas.

Dot and I did our usual Sunday thing this morning.  Now I am tired enough to nap!
