AMY you and your hubby are apparently good snuggler's even with heavy night clothes. you must get up and stoke the fire up often with that kind of temp.
I remember doing that when I was young and tough. we used to heat with wood. we now that we have natural gas lines crossing our place have hooked on to it, it cost us around $100 per month to heat our house. but it is large  on the +side 4,000 feat of living space. too Large for just two old people.
I also remember in those days waking up with ice in the teakettle on the stove with just cols left in the stove. a little kindling and it would soon take off. at night we would take a little flannel blanket and hold it up to the side of the stove warm it and run fast too bed. Have a great day everyone.

oh yes the old house burnt and we built a new house. covered with brick on the outside and lot of brick on the inside down on the lower level. has a full kitchen on both levels lots of open space on both levels. the down stair level has a a bar
non alcohol,it has a curve around at the end. you can set the food to eat on it.
If i think to get G D to help we can make a video and post it, I don't reamber how to.

Good morning everyone, starting 25 degrees colder than yesterday. 20° and the sun will be shining so hope it warms up some.  Evaluation  went fine and the witch did say as I was leaving they would be up to check my apartment. Just heard on TV that a school bus driver picked up kids from a middle school yesterday. She said she was running late so decided to make a u turn on a 2 lane road. She hit a tree, backed up and hit another tree and broke the back window then kept driving. One of the kids must have taken the video they showed. The kids screaming and being tossed around. That driver has been fired. Thank God none of the kids were hurt but all were scared. That was in Mass.

MARY ANN there are many senior housing places around but there are worse horror stories from most of them Too big and fights break out. At least here all the tenants get along. Some places have a 4 year  waiting list to get in. I really hate the thought of moving again. I just might get to be like several others and stay in my apartment and only go down for mail. Hope can not do that, I like being with people. Joan did post many by Bob Perks and I saved quite a few of them.

LARRY  Where my daughter lives was a huge cattle ranch. After they had the well drilled my SIL built a structure around the pump. That was before they even had the house there. They went back a few months later to find that the cattle had been eating the wood in the pump house. They now have a barbed wire fence around 2 acres of the are where the house is. There is still cattle wandering around and even cowboys going around to heard them. I had read several years ago about them trying to find more wind resistant material for the Olympics and thus the tighter outfits. The suits they wear for the summer swimming cannot get smaller I hope.

PHYLLIS  like you I have watched a little of the ice skating and nothing else. I always watched as much of the winter Olympics as I could but not really interested this year.

CAROL  if a few more of us would get a lawyer we night be able to do something but people are too afraid of being evicted.

JENNY  I love the one on one time with my sons. Those have always been special times to me. My daughter and I have our Skype time every day and we both look forward to that. I so agree about too much talking in the Olympics. Watching the skating I do not care if the skater did a triple this of double that, I just want to enjoy watching them. Same with the Rose parade New Year's day, we miss floats they describe because they have a commercial. Years back one  channel had transparent commercials so we could still see the floats. I have not bothered to watch it the last few years.

MARY ANN  I know what you mean about your shoulder. Glad I had my right one replaced when I did but I cannot do what I used to do with it. Cannot raise it above my head with any weight in it and the left one I cannot do much with at all. Even my pain pills do not help my back much, just had to learn to live with it.

SHIRLEY  would not work. Her boss likes her because she saves him money. She is supposed to work 40 hours a week and if she works even one full day I would be surprised. Maybe if I had some green paper folded in my hand to shake her hand she might lay off?  I stood on skies once and looked down the hill and said no way, I was a teen then.

JUNE the visit went as normal, both of us polite.

JANE  I am one of the lucky ones and do sleep the night through. Seldom have a night when I wake up.

SHIRLEY  a good eye doctor can tell if something is wrong just by looking into the eyes. That amazes me. We think of out eyes for seeing but not for telling anything  about our health.

AMY  sun is bright and beautiful and now up to 23°

LLOYD  the joys of central heating these days.

Hi Everyone.  We have an overcast morning with 49 degrees as I start to write and only to get up into the mid-50's this afternoon.  I may make a quick trip to Walmart this morning to pick up a prescription and a couple of other items in the pharmacy area.  This evening I hope to go to the United Methodist's Mens pancake supper at the Church.  So far this morning I am feeling pretty good.  Last evening we went to Diablo's for a good meal.  We had talked about going to the Texas Roadhouse but I begged off as still wasn't feeling up to par nor have my taste buds returned to normal and I wanted to be able to fully enjoy our meal there.  My SIL sent me a gift card for Texas Roadhouse so we will save it until another time.  While my birthday was yesterday we will actually celebrate it with the family tomorrow evening.  If I am still in the mood I may start on preparing our tax returns.  I still am missing one piece of information I need but can enter the other data in the Tax Act computer program and get a pretty good idea of where we stand in terms of having to pay more taxes.

I do again want to thank you all for the kind Happy Birthday wishes.  They are appreciated.  I also heard from a number of family and friends yesterday, which helped make the day special.

Phyllis, I watched the women's snowboarding last evening and the commentator talked continually.  The young American snowboarder easily won the gold medal.  I think the Westminster dog show would probably be more enjoyable than watching some of the Olympics.  I hope I can remember to turn it on this evening.

June, glad what you have is contagious and you are not once again confined to your apartment.  A little socialization is always a good thing, in my opinion.  I am glad you have such good nursing care.

I remember the great fruits and vegetables available in January and February when I visited my folks in Arizona for a 7 year span that they wintered there.  Atlanta hosted the summer Olympics in the late 90's and it was a really big thing but I think most of the facilities that were build have probably been destroyed by now.  The main stadium was turned into a baseball stadium for the Atlanta Braves, who have now had another new stadium built for them.

Jenny, the Olympics brings many people in from all over the world for the days of the games and it does really tie up traffic.  At least that Olympics paid for itself and the taxpayers were not left holding the bag.  I keep my iPhone right beside my bed and when I can't sleep I will turn on my audiobooks, with earphones, and set the time on it for 15 minutes and it often puts me back to sleep after a few minutes.  Sometimes it takes two or three resets of the timer but eventually I go back to sleep.  I have had a lot of painful migraine type headaches until I got into my late 50's when they stopped but never had a silent migraine until one day I was working on the computer and I couldn't read the screen.  It really scared me as I was afraid I might be having a stroke or something.  I quickly called the advice nurse at Kaiser and she told me it was most likely a silent migraine that would soon be gone and it was.  I don't have them very often and now know what they are.  Pat has had them for years.  I can understand your husband being concerned as that first time is very scary.

Mary Ann, it sounds like Dot stays pretty busy and is fortunate to be close to some of her great grandchildren.  I did get a birthday ecard from my great grandchildren yesterday and it was a surprise as they had never recognized my birthday before.  I sure hope the PT is helpful for your shoulder.

Shirley, I have used Epsom salts for my feet several times and I think it helped.  Fortunately I have few aches and pains so really haven't needed to use them often.  I did use the Vicks on the bottoms of my feet overnight last week.  I think I mentioned that my cardiologist advised to do that as she had tried it personally when she had a cold and found it really helped.  I think it would be wise if you stayed off the ski slopes at this point in your life.  Speeding in your motorhome is one thing but getting on skis is entirely another.  :)

Jane, I did have an enjoyable birthday although didn't really do anything other than enjoy reading the ecards and regular cards I received and the nice greetings in the discussions.  That all made it special.  My next goal is to reach 78.  I hope you enjoy your day off today.

Sandy, I have never been on a tennis court.  Our farming community didn't have any available and I never tried it when I was young.  Badminton was my limit.  It sounds like you are one with a very high pain tolerance.

Amy, that is really cold.  At least the sun makes cold seem more tolerable.

Lloyd, that is a big house.  We had one large house of about 3600 square feet plus a full basement and several of the rooms were seldom used.  I was happy to get moved into our smaller retirement home, which turned out to be our next to last retirement home since we ended up moving here to South Carolina and had never anticipated doing it and wouldn't have done so as long as our daughter lived.  Growing up my family used to heat the house with a wood stove.  How things have changed over the years.

Gloria, glad your evaluation went well.  Those school children must have really been frightened and it doesns't sound like that lady should have been driving a bus.  We never experienced our cows eating wood.  I can't blame you not wanting to face moving as it is a really big job for we seniors.

Good Morning Everyone from the cool but
sunny rocky coast of Maine.

Regarding pain tolerance..

I suspect that I do have a high tolerance
for pain.    But of course,  pain is necessary
to warn us of problems,  like heart attacks
  etc etc...

I delivered four babies,  relatively
quickly,  the last two were "natural"
without pain meds, and very
they were very fast deliveries.

There is always good news and
bad news when it comes
to pain.  (As we all know)...
but I would rather  have a high
tolerance then the alternative!!

Of course, things could change,
and probably will.

My heart is in constant Afib... but
because I do not feel it (like some
people do) they choose not to try
to attain  a sinus rythum   but instead
keep me on blood thinners,  watched
closely (Warfarin) ...  which I will be
on for the rest of my life.

Of course,  we all have something
that we have to get use to as we age,
and sometimes it drives us a little nuts!

Happy Birthday Larry...  if I didn't say so
before , but if I did,  Happy Birthday again!

Have a good day,  everyone..
Sandy

Shirley, I also have arthritis in my hands but it doesn’t bother me there.  My middle fingers bend a bit toward my little fingers.  And I have arthritis in my knees which also does not bother me unless I want to go up steps.  But my shoulder sure does bother me because it hurts to some degree constantly â€" except when I sleep; it does not keep me awake.

Amy, I am always surprised there is so much difference in our temperatures â€" mine is nearer 20F.  You must be much further north than I had pictured you.

Gloria, with the situation of senior homes, I understand the reluctance of people unwilling to make waves in case they would be evicted.  It is just too bad that people have to endure the witch.

Sandy, I also have A-fib and mostly I am not aware of it, but there are times I am very aware of it.  When I exert myself, I find I am short of breath for a few minutes (seconds?) before things return to normal.  I see my cardiologist twice a year.

Mary Ann

Shirley

I am another with A-fib but after the valve surgery (you often see the ad for a med for A-fib says "not caused by a valve problem".... ) when still in the hospital my A-fib went wild, my gown was absolutely bouncing until I let them start some pills.  Up to that point I was doing fine, walking down the halls & taking care of myself without any pain meds.... did not stop to realize those A-fib pills were what caused me not to get around like I did, could not make myself walk the hall half as far or even eat.

They finally sent me home after 8 days & I was a zombie, knew where I was & could take care of getting up to eat... but could not change the bandage for 3 days until Cas knew I was not perking like normal.  He suggested cutting the one pill I took in half & that did the trick. Next morning I ripped the bandage off & had a shower, back to being me (cooking, etc)... few days later I turned back into a zombie so cut the half in half for a few days, then had to skip a day, 2 days until it was out of my system & I was fine.

I take that Bayer every week to work as a blood thinner & it also takes care of the eye problem.  My body rules... and I often drink a cup of coffee before going to bed, it relaxes me! Same thing for my father so I thought it was sort of normal.  Been 5 years & my cardio doesn't mention A-fib & I keep forgetting to ask if I no longer have it.  I don't often have those "gulp" moments of letting my heart settle down like before surgery & not very good about thorough check ups.  What I thought was going to be one turned out to be more vocal test of "attitude" for Medicare info.  We all aren't made with the same blueprint so good we tune in to our own bodies.

I sent in my 23 & ME test last week & paid for the medical part as well.... I just got news last night that another cousin's son died during or after valve surgery.  Quite a few in the family so far but one cousin/nurse doesn't agree with me that it could be genetic, I do. I've warned my kids to be aware of how many didn't know in time that a valve can be replaced.  I'm hoping they will be able to have an easier way (they do, but so far a shorter term of life with the in-artery replacement, so my cardio told me), before my kids or grands need the ribs cracked for surgery.

I'm off to get the cats their chicken, time for them to come out of the rotisserie, I like 'em fresh so they'll last at least 5 days.  Spring is around the corner, we're looking for 70° tomorrow.  A busy day of watering, Ash Wed & all...

Carol

Reading all of your notes is just so super neat.  Sometimes, it seems impossible to "know" so many caring people we really don't totally "know".  Know what I mean?  ;)

Mary Ann

Shirley, I would not suggest what I take for anything would work for someone else.  I might tell what I took for something in hope it would help someone, but not necessarily.  As  you say, we are all made different.  I take Eliquis, a blood thinner, for my A-fib.  I was taking one 325 aspirin a day until the Eliquis but now I cannot take aspirin and must take Tylenol (or store brand).  I know the spells I had for two or three years were the forerunners to A-fib but my doctor disregarded the symptoms because I was using a wrist monitor.  When he couldn’t count my pulse rate because it was going so fast, he then diagnosed my A-fib.  I would not think of drinking a cup of coffee before I go to bed.  I have trouble with regular coffee anyway and if I drank some, especially late in the day, I might go to sleep OK but I’d wake up about 1 or 2 in the morning and not be able to go to sleep.  I try to avoid caffeine whenever I can.  I also take a blood pressure medicine.

I am asked by 23&Me to participate in a survey every so often.  I don’t recall getting asked by Ancestry to participate in any survey.  I had one man last week who found we are related, but the contact is with an unknown (to me) ancestor.  A great-grandfather and great-grandmother were both born in Ireland and we’ve thought Northern Ireland.  The man suggests they could be from Donegal, which he said is in the north of the Irish Republic.  I don’t know how far I’m going with that.  I don’t have the patience to pursue much these days.  Another man, whose name I recognized, sent me information about some family pictures.  I like that kind of contact better.

Recently I a message from FamilySearch that I had an ancestor in Wisconsin.  I checked to see who it would be (I have lots of ancestors in Wisconsin) and when i got to the name, I got the message that we were not related.  The person who came up was my mother's first cousin.  Today I had a message about ancestors married in New York.  They were a set of great-grandparents and I already knew that.  FamilySearch has the wrong name for a 2nd great-grandfather and I'm trying to find how to change that.

Our temperatures are getting warmer this week, too.

It's time I shut up.

Mary Ann

Another day of just goofing off. Cough has taken over from the sneezes. I have some great cough drops though, better that syrup. An old timer called Ricola. sure does the trick. The computer told me the following. TRADITIONAL SECRET RECIPE IN USE FOR OVER 75 YEARS
Ricola original herb cough drops contain the goodness of mountain herbs. This classic Ricola product has a distinctive cube shape and fine herb flavor. Original Ricola natural herb cough drops are made today just as they were in the 1940’s using the highest quality natural herbs cultivated in Swiss alpine areas using natural farming methods without chemical pesticides to ensure optimum taste and effectiveness. That’s why consumers worldwide turn to Ricola drops for cough and sore throat relief from a cold as well as soothing an itchy throat due to allergies.
Works for me.

We had a mostly cloudy day with blue skies breaking through occasionally. Just enough to give us some beauty, and thankfulness.

My Gary and Dori return from Hawaii tomorrow. I will be eager to hear all about the trip. I don't know what time they arrive in Ca. but I know they will need to just relax for a few days. Pick up their four legged "kid" from the place they leave him. He is the sweetest little black spaniel, reminds me of my Petey. His name is Rudy.

Gloria, I am glad to hear you had a "polite" interview with your so-called manager. She does do something besides crab I guess.

Just back from supper. Had a big thick salmon pattie, redskin potatoes.baby limas,
and custard pie. No programs downstairs tonight so I will prepare for book and bed. One more breathing treatment tonight but that is later.Have a Blessed night my dear ones. I love you much. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good morning every one, 28° and to get up into the 40's later. Not bad for February. We have had some big snow storms on Valentine's day some years. Winters the last few years are not like what they used to be. I remember the cold and piles of snow all winter but this year and last year the winter was not that bad, not as cold or snowy. At least this year we did have some temps down near zero.

LARRY  moving here was a mess. My family moved me but they left  every thing for me to find a place for, emptying all the boxes, etc. I could not go through that again. I am not able to do as much as even the 31/2 years ago.

MARY ANN  one of the CNAs I had used to go to a high rise in a city and would tell me horror stories. Even fist fights between some old men where the police had to be called. There is another place here is town where the mother of a CNA lived and things were stolen. If there was a delivery to a tenant and they were not home and it was left in front of their door someone would seal it. That never happens here. There is 299 units there where there is 52 here.

SHIRLEY  you really pay attention to your body, I just kept doing what I had to or wanted to do till age got into the picture and arthritis set in. I really hate not  being able to do things anymore. It still bothers me to sit here and seeing others do my work.

JUNE  we have learned that when the witch is pleasant watch out for the knife in the back.

Sometimes I feel...
Bob Perks

Sometimes I feel that the world is too much.  God reminds me that I am a part of His world and He has much to offer.

Sometimes I feel, that as hard as I try I am nowhere near where I wanted to be at this point in my life.  God reminds me that the journey may be long but it will be worth it and I am right where He wants me to be.

Sometimes I feel that there is too much for me to do.  God reminds me that I am not doing it alone.  Take each step wisely and put things in perspective.

Sometimes I feel that there are too many mountains to climb.  God reminds me that He made the mountains so that when we reach the top we are closer to Heaven, we can see where we've been and the beauty of where we are going.

Sometimes I feel that when I am excited about life no one else around me is.  God reminds me that is why He placed me there to bring excitement to those whose lives are weary.

Sometimes I feel like God doesn't hear me.  God reminds me that He does indeed listen and respond.  It is I who blocks out His Voice when I don't like what He is saying.

Sometimes I feel that no one understands me.  God reminds me that He understands and that's all that matters.

Sometimes I feel that the world is closing in on me.  God reminds me that he is there even in the smallest spaces.

Sometimes I feel I am failing,  God reminds me with Him I cannot fail.  Delays and denials are not failures.  There are more choices, better ways to get me to where He wants me to be.

Sometimes I feel at peace.  God reminds me:

Good morning and Happy Valentines day everyone... :smitten:

Nothing on the agenda today, love these days but as you know there is always something to do in the home.

+1 ° F at the moment and the weather guesser said rain for tomorrow!!!I hope Friday is ok as we have to go to the city for hubby's CT scan.
Yesterday I managed to some what tidy up my cutting table...need to finish that up today. Put fabric where it belongs and pattern in binders still.

Gloria, I was happy to read the "witch" was half human at your meeting.

Carol, yes I do know what you mean, when our computer friends hurt we also hurt with them.

Better get a move on here, slept in again this morning. :)

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning Everyfriend! We're at 34º and heading for the mid 40s today with rain starting early evening.  But we have a prediction of snow for Saturday.  I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere.  And Cathy is flying to Texas to visit her sister and daughter.  She will be there for the baby shower for her niece.  I would have liked to be there for that but it wasn't in the cards.  My suitcase and my shower gift are both going with Cathy and I feel sure there will be pictures.

Today, I'll be off to Wally World to take my stand behind the counter.  I only have 2 days this week so it's a short one.

The dogies and I are waiting for the boinger and I have my first cup of coffee so all's well this morning.

I hope you all have the day you wish for!  Make it your own in every way!

we are @ 44º now and cloudy, supposed to get a peak at sun in late afternoon.
I plan on feeding the cows and then going back to shop and do some more scrapping, separating copper and bras out of starters and bad electric motors.

Have a great day,

Hi Everyone. It is another overcast morning.  I didn't get up early this morning as what little I did yesterday seems to have sapped my energy.  So I will just take it easy, stay home and pretty much rest today.  I did attend the pancake supper at the Church last evening and it was good.  I was only gone for about an hour.  I had gone to Walmart as planned yesterday morning. This evening I will go down to Wifesaver's and pick up chicken dinners for us all as Pat isn't up to getting a big meal this evening.  I did remember to get Pat a pretty heart shaped box of Chocolate Truffles, a cute little lady bug vase with miniature roses in it and a pretty Valentines Day card.

Sandy, thanks for the Birthday wish.  We will finish up celebrating this evening with the ice cream cake.

Mary Ann, glad that shoulder doesn't keep you awake at night.  I am one of the fortunate ones in I don't have any arthritis that I am aware of or what I have is very mild.

Shirley, I sometimes wonder if we don't get too much medicine.  However, I am thankful for the heart medications as they generally control the angina.  I find when I have to take a nitro tablet it leaves me feeling very tired.  Fortunately I don't have to take them very often but always carry them with me and had to use one last evening when I got to the pancake supper as was having pain in my arm and that stopped it.  I wonder why your cousin/nurse doesn't think heart problems are genetic.  There were heart problems on both sides of my family and both of our children had and have heart problems.

Carol, I do know what you mean about the caring people here.  I really feel a closer bond with many here than I do with a lot of relatives, many of whom I really have little contact.

June, glad to know about the Ricola for coughs.  I am aware of the brand but didn't know the background.  When I was coughing so much I found we had several different cough drops on hand but found they didn't particularly help as I didn't have a sore throat through all of this.  I bet Petey will be happy to see Gary and Dori.  Many years ago we can a small dog that was named Petey.

Gloria, I really understand your not wanting to go through another move.  It is a good thing we made the move here to South Carolina when we did.  I have belonged to fairly large men's coffee groups over the last twenty plug years and I don't remember there ever being a spat among us.  We have always respected each others ideas.  I really like the Bob Perks reading you posted today.

Amy, I sometimes wonder how Pat's sewing room can get so cluttered.  She hasn't been up to doing much in the way of quilting for quite awhile.  She has been making some pot holders and that is taking a long time.

Jane, glad you have a short week behind the counter although I know that means less in your pay envelope.  It sounds like your temperatures are getting a little better.

Lloyd, good luck with your metal sorting today.  Be careful as you don't need another hurt.

larryhanna

A good friend shared this with me yesterday and I enjoyed the short trip down memory lane and thought some of you might also enjoy taking the same journey:

A POEM THAT WAS US

A little house with two bedrooms,
One bathroom and one car on the street
A mower that you had to push
To make the grass look neat.

In the kitchen on the wall
We only had one phone,
And no need for recording things,
Someone was always home.

We only had a living room
Where we would congregate,
Unless it was at mealtime
In the kitchen where we ate.

We had no need for family rooms
Or extra rooms to dine.
When meeting as a family
Those two rooms would work out fine.

We only had one TV set
And channels maybe two,
But always there was one of them
With something worth the view

For snacks we had potato chips
That tasted like a chip.
And if you wanted flavor
There was Lipton's onion dip.

Store-bought snacks were rare because
My mother liked to cook
And nothing can compare to snacks
In Betty Crocker's book

Weekends were for family trips
Or staying home to play
We all did things together â€"
Even go to church to pray.

When we did our weekend trips
Depending on the weather,
No one stayed at home because
We liked to be together.

Sometimes we would separate
To do things on our own,
But we knew where the others were
Without our own cell phone

Then there were the movies
With your favorite movie star,
And nothing can compare
To watching movies in your car

Then there were the picnics
at the peak of summer season,
Pack a lunch and find some trees
And never need a reason.

Get a baseball game together
With all the friends you know,
Have real action playing ball â€"
And no game video.

Remember when the doctor
Used to be the family friend,
And didn't need insurance
Or a lawyer to defend.

The way that he took care of you
Or what he had to do,
Because he took an oath and strived
To do the best for you.

Remember going to the store
And shopping casually,
And when you went to pay for it
You used your own money?

Nothing that you had to swipe
Or punch in some amount,
And remember when the cashier person
Had to really count?

The milkman used to go
From door to door,
And it was just a few cents more
Than going to the store.

There was a time when mailed letters
Came right to your door,
Without a lot of junk mail ads
Sent out by every store .

The mailman knew each house by name
And knew where it was sent;
There were not loads of mail addressed
To "present occupant”

There was a time when just one glance
Was all that it would take,
And you would know the kind of car,
The model and the make

They didn't look like turtles
Trying to squeeze out every mile;
They were streamlined, white walls, fins
And really had some style

One time the music that you played
Whenever you would jive,
Was from a vinyl, big-holed record
Called a forty-five

The record player had a post
To keep them all in line
And then the records would drop down
And play one at a time.

Oh sure, we had our problems then,
Just like we do today
And always we were striving,
Trying for a better way.

Oh, the simple life we lived
Still seems like so much fun,
How can you explain a game,
Just kick the can and run?

And why would boys put baseball cards
Between bicycle spokes
And for a nickel, red machines
Had little bottled Cokes?

This life seemed so much easier
Slower in some ways
I love the new technology
But I sure do miss those days.

So time moves on and so do we
And nothing stays the same,
But I sure love to reminisce
And walk down memory lane.

With all today's technology
We grant that it's a plus!
But it's fun to look way back and say,
HEY LOOK, GUYS, THAT WAS US!

their warmth."How about a little trip down memory lane today.  A friend sent this to me yesterday and it brought back a lot of memories:

Larry, sure sounds like our little home on Olive Ave in Sierra Madre,Ca. We bought that after renting a 90 year old home in the same city. That old home had a really unusual landlady that lived next door. She was ill one time,so I took her some home made soup. She had 1 bedroom cottage, and I swear she had never thrown away one thing in her lifetime. You took a pathway between stacks of boxes, newspapers, magazines, you name it..she had it. There were even some snapshots that I had tossed out in our trash and she retrieved them. We really cared for that lady. She cried when we left there. But that was where our daughter died from kidney disease at age 13 so we had to move on and start life over again with our two younger sons.

Bubble..I loved the array of your Valentines. My favorite is the grey haired Granny kicking up her heels.

This is a stay at home day for me. I woke up at three a.m. so, I am tired beyond description. I'll fix a light lunch, and just let the day do it's "thing".
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Larry: Tsk Tsk Tsy - Pat's room isn't messy - it is artistry in progress.

Lloyd:  Good wishes for a generous amount of money on all of your copper, etc collection.

Very sad news from Florida on another school shooting.  Each and every time I think back to Columbine in Colorado - Jenny know this as well.  It is heart-breaking.

Shirley:  I am going to try to make an epson salt mixture and put it on his shoulder tonight before he goes to bed - it would be wonderful to have something help his pain.  Even the prescribed medicine does not work.

Larry:  To add to your yesterday notes - my mother always fixed a plate for any hobo who came to the yard - I remember many men coming one at a time, sitting outside the kitchen quietly and they knew they would get a meal.  Today, we would be frightened by the sight ---and, she had me take the food out to them.  That would be child neglect.

CAROL, we fed them too.  The first one I remember was a man who came around the house ans stood there until someone noticed him and then ask if we would mind if he took a drink from the hose that was lying in the yard.  My grandfather hastened to to tell him it was fine and if he'd wait a minute he thought there were some lunch leftovers that he might like to help us get rid of.  There were and he did.  I'm sure there were others but I can still see that one in my mind's eye.  I was probably not more than 5 at the time.

Gotta go feed the doggies and me too.  Enjoy your evening!

Regarding hobos...
My grand mother use to feed them also..
some times there would be a little work to
do,  in the garden or shovel out the out house...

ALL the hobos knew where to stop.  I think
that they "marked"  the houses that
were friendly to "hobos".

Which was located in the barn up on the second floor,
and the shoveling could be done from out
back.    So the out house was really inside....
except under it that needed to be shoveled.

Never smelled.   Didn't have time...  Granny used to
clean it out weekly  and move it to the garden for fertilizer.

I don't suppose today that would be legal...

I got involved in watching the news of another school shooting that took place this afternoon. Some young "reject" that had been removed from the school some time ago, came back today and shot 17  people, killed two. This is happening more frequently across the nation. I  do not know what the answer is.

I haven't heard from my Hawaii returnies yet, guess I'll have to track them down. They will be tired after their trip,I know, but I also need to know if they are at home yet. Probably out picking up Rudy from the Vets.

My doggie groomer has changed her location.  She's going to try coming to her jobs instead of them coming to her.  Tomorrow is our first try at that.  We'll see how it works.  So far her prices aren't changing....just her location.

I'm off to Dreamland.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow.

Good morning everyone...

Warmer today with a temp of +18 ° F....foggy out too.
I need to wash the vehicle today, if the fog lifts into the car wash we go!!Dust bunnies need to be corralled up and then more sewing. Both these dgos are losing hair like crazy, is this a sign of early Spring?? I hope so!!

Larry, I passed your poem onto many and the reply back was I lived in that era and one was "If the kids today were transported to our childhood time,  they'd probably would think that they had entered another universe."

Gloria, I can understand not wanting to move. I look at all that I have accumulated since we moved here and to have to pack.........ugh!!! I would if we could find a home nearer to hubby's Dr.s though.

Carol, love that artistry in progress.....just like I am working on my PHD.....projects half done :)

June, hope you have heard from your Hawaiian hunnies...and soon will see photos of their trip.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning Everyfriend!  We're up and in wait mode for the boinger for the doggies pills.  I have the coffee on and then I'm going to go get dressed and put a few last things in order before the doggie groomer comes at 10.  This should be interesting!  I always wondered what one dog did while the other was being washed.  Now I can find out. If the rain slacks off, I might take the waiting one for a little walk.

This and picking up Kiran and Cathy stopping by to borrow my suitcase are my only planned activities for today.  Should anything else arise, we'll try to face it with dignity....well, let's just say, "we'll deal with events as they occur".  One of THOSE days!  I'll deal with mine and you all deal with yours.  Enjoy!
