A wife asks her husband, "Could you please go shopping for me and buy one carton of milk and, if they have avocados, get six."

A short time later, the husband returns with six cartons of milk.

"Why did you buy six cartons of milk?" his wife asks.

He replies, "They had avocados."

A couple arrive on holiday in a small hotel.
The manager show them the room and ask the tourist:

-Can I do anything else for you?-No, thank you, all is well.

-And for your wife?

- Oh yes, sure: bring me a postcard and a stamp.

Good morning everyone..and welcome to 2019.

We did get snow overnight with rain on top of it. Not a lot of snow but has to be moved.

Nothing is planned other than a wee trip ,will tell you more when we get back. :)

Larry, thank you for posting the recipes for Joy and I . Wonder if an Instant pot folder could be started?

Joy, I am going to try your recipe. I picked up some turkey thighs and roasted two on the oven and I bet these were off a marathon runner so into a soup pot they went. Have two more and will fix your recipe in the tenderizer (instant  pot)

Better get my duds on and grab a shovel..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend on this first day of the new year.  That Kansas/OK wind has found its way to Pennsylvania.  It's so windy that I've gone to the window and door  times already to see if a helicopter landed in my yard.  If it keeps up like this all the results of yesterday's rain will be gone by noon.

I put my little pork roast in the crock pot last night before I went to bed and in a little bit, I'll pick it apart and add the sauerkraut and let it simmer until I'm ready to eat my New Year's dinner.  Anyone who wants is welcome to join me.  I'm thinking around 1 p.m.

I might start to put the Christmas decorations away today...if I feel like it.  Today I'm not doing anything I don't feel like doing.  And if that includes "nothing", that's what I'm going to do!  What a way to start a new year!

I wish you all the best of everything, peace, love, health, friends, family and whatever makes your heart sing!

Good morning.

Happy New Year from MARYLAND  to all my friends !  I hope it will be a Happier and Healthier year for us all !

LARRY,  Thank you for adding the chicken and dumpling recipes to the folder.  It seems the more I read,  the more intimidating that Instant Pot makes me feel.  I KNOW I have to get over that feeling and I will.  I need to get a grocery order before I can fix anything.  My first thing is to do the "Water Test".  Once I get through that, I think I think I will feel better.  I am just so amused at the comments I am reading over on the Instant Pot's Facebook page.  At least, I am not alone in how I feel.  I have to build up my confidence. LOL

I did stay up and greet the New Year, but was not too long after that before I did go to bed. And, I did sleep pretty well.  Today is starting out a little dreary, but I think it is supposed to clear off.

Bubble, cute jokes to start off the New Year.

Jane,  Amy, Bubble, Rick, Lloyd  and Shirley...  A good morning to all of you early birds.

I have had my breakfast and now need to get on with my day. Nothing special is going on, so I don't have to be in a big hurry to get started.  Might even fit in a little nap.

Have a wonderful first day of 2019.

Joy

From the S&F menu this morning, I clicked on Soda Shoppe and up came a blank Reply box where I wrote Happy New Year and a few more words.  I have no idea where I posted because it wasn't here.

So, for the present - HAPPY NEW YEAR, Everyone.  I'll return when I'm awake.

I found the post I made elsewhere in a folder Soda Shoppe January 1, 2019. So I copied it and here it is.  I know that SS will be deleted soon.
Better twice than not at all.  MAT

Happy New Year to everyone!

I clicked on Soda Shoppe in the Menu and ended up here to a clean slate.  I'm not awake enough to post much but I can say I'm glad I made it into another year.

Best Wishes to all - and I'll be back later when I'm more awake.

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year. We have another cloudy and warm day ahead. We have a 20% chance of rain throughout the day and that percentage goes up this evening. I am thankful as we start this new year that I am still around.  I don't have anything particular planned for today but do have several projects I can work on if I want to do so.  Pat and I plan on eating out for our main meal today, probably at Diablo's, which is one of our favorite places.  There are a lot of good games on this afternoon.  The University of Georgia plays at 8:20 this evening so I probably will not watch the game, or very much of it, as that is a very late start.

Bubble, thanks for the new page and great graphics and funny stories.  This is a good way to get the new year started.

Jenny, it sounds like you made a good decision to let Bob do the driving to the airport.  You are so fortunate to have a large and loving family and now those precious grandchildren.  I can't image you having a blank schedule but expect you are ready for a few days of quiet relaxation and recovery from the last few weeks.  Glad your dad sounded better yesterday.

Jane, I hope you enjoy your extra day off from work.  It was very nice of you to give you hours to the younger gal as one hour a day would make a pretty good dent in her paycheck.  I am not a great fan of Alfredo sauce either. Pat and I have lived away from most of our family all the years we have been married with the exception of the nine years we lived close to her sister in Independence, Missouri, the time we spent caring for my folks.  Of course, we have always lived fairly close to our children. I would think your grandson would have quite an adjustment going from living in Canada to moving to Mexico.  Jane, thanks for the dinner invitation to have some of the sauerkraut and pork.

Shirley, too bad you weren't able to use more of your gas discount but what is past is past so put it behind you. I hope you got warm yesterday.

June, like you I saw the New Year in behind closed eyelids.  Maybe one of the reasons God keeps you here is what you mean to all of us.  The same is true for Mary Ann and Lindancer as you all are an inspiration to me.

Rammel, those old pressure cooker used to make some pretty good meals.

Lloyd, I hope this year will see you and Nancy on extended trips in your motor home.  It is time to relax and enjoy life.  I hope Nancy is feeling much better and soon you will be able to get away to Florida and miss that Missouri winter.

Amy, I have wondered the same about starting a separate Index for Instant Pot recipes.  I could set it up in one discussion  with different categories.  A few of the recipes I noted as Instant Pot but I think there were a few I didn't.  I guess I can add that to my to-do list this new year.  I hope you didn't have too much snow and ice to shovel today.

Joy, have you looked at any of the many videos available showing people making things with their Instant Pots.  That is how my wife got started as a picture is worth a thousand words.

2019 is starting out gloomy and brrrrr-cold in central Oklahoma.  I don't plan on sticking my nose out the door for the next few days.

However, Miss Ellen is coming this afternoon for a visit before she goes back to NYC on Thursday and
Miss Emily is coming for lunch tomorrow before she goes back to Kansas on Saturday.
I expect Sir Carson to come for dinner one evening after work before he returns to college on the 12th.

Hello, just a short post to let you know I am OK. I twisted my left arm a few days ago and had it in a sling. Not as limber as I used to be and hard to type with one hand. Today is the first time my shoulder does not hurt as much but will not push it. One of my friends here brought me some pain gel and have been using it on my shoulder. Yesterday found out it is horse liniment. I had heard of it being used on people before but never though I would use it but it really eases the pain some.

Wonder how t he ones in Providence enjoyed the new year party in the city this year. It poured for hours last night. They have a huge ball to drop at midnight, wonder if they did. It is a bright sunny day here with 49°

Happy New Year 2019. May you all be healthy and happy and have PEACE in the new year.

Gloria, thanks for the New Years card.  I get them too and never think to put one here.  On the other hand, you do put them here and I don't need to take over your fun.

I'm sorry about your arm and shoulder.  Interesting about the horse liniment and I'm glad it is helping you.

Grand Haven is quite calm and there is a man walking along the shore.

Happy New Year to everyone.

Beautiful card, Gloria, sorry about the shoulder & had to grin about using the horse liniment. I had a couple ladies suggest something they used for super dry hands.... was what they used on cow udders but now advertised for "pet paw & nose moisturer (Bag Balm).  Fascinates me how anyone can create the fireworks & cards. I tried the Bag Balm but finally forgot about it when it came out with a different formula, didn't work as well. Thanks. Hope you get to feeling better.

I've been to church, breakfast with "the kids" and home to take a nap. I'm ready to get on with the day.  Sure hope 2019 will be a better year for all. 2018 was not too bad except for my son's emergency heart surgery and he is improving daily.

Callie, glad to see you are getting some "one on one" with the grands, a chance to pass on those tid bits of wisdom your mother & gr-mother offered you. 'Tis sure cold in Kansas, wind blowing had the feels like at -4 degrees when I got up.

Bubble, wish I could teach my computer to create like yours does. Great graphics!

🎆 HAPPY 2019 EVERYFRIEND 🎆

Thank you for our nice new Soda Shoppe BUBBLE!

It was a cold New Years Eve here in the Mile High, so there were not many folks down town last night to enjoy the fireworks.  You could not have paid me enough to even stick my nose out the door!

We have sunshine today, so it is very pretty to look out and see the snow, but it is very cold out.

I sure wish you all a good first day of the year.

Shirley,  had to smile at your saying I could pass along generational wisdom to the granddaughters.  I do not come from that sort of family.  My mother's unmarried sister had quite a few "sayings" but I would classify them as "original observations" and sometimes "sassy" - not Words To Live By.

Plans changed and now both girls are coming tomorrow.  They are bringing lunch and I will have a few "go-withs" ready.
Ellen may get here before Emily does but we don't have anything secret to talk about.

I've spent almost all day in my office - catching up on "organizing" that I'd let slide for a while.  Feels good to have things back in place.

Now getting dark.  Time to close the blinds and pull in the latch string.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Brr chilly here -12° F this morning. Household chores need to be done especially washing floors!

Gloria, that was a nice card, thank you!! Hope your shoulder/arm is feeling better today. Our neighbour used horse liniment on his knees and said it helped.....along with WD40!

Better get going here and make up for my time that I over slept.

Enjoy your day everyone and stay warm.

Gloria, I hope the shoulder is much better today.  I knew about horse liniment but have never used it.  But, I have used Bag Balm many times.  When I used to do loom weaving it was important to keep hands soft so the yarn would not snag.  I tend to have dry skin so I used it a lot.  And I still use enormous amounts of lotion....I hate touching anything when my hands are dry.

Cloudy again today and slightly cooler but it will still be in the 60's.  November here was very cold but since then it has been unseasonably warm.  I'm not complaining.

The electrician will be here later this morning to hook the attic fan back to power.  I hope that will be the very last thing to think about in regard to the roof!  And, I hope I never have to worry about putting a new roof on again.  Please, no more hurricanes!  As soon as the weather gets warmer and drier I will need to find someone who will repair and repaint my deck.

Good Morning Everyfriend! I bought myself a stronger pair of reading glasses and found that I can once again enjoy reading a good book.  My daughter shared a book of Amish Christmas stories with me and I was able to read one whole story last night (171 pages).  I haven't been able to that in a couple of years.  I have to remember to keep the light directly on the page I'm reading.  If I drift away from the page, everything dims.  I also slept better last night than I have in about 3 weeks.  Today has to be a good day.

My cleaning dynamo comes today at 10:30 and I try to do like LARRY does and "keep out of her way".  Maybe I'll stay in the office and work on finances.  I have to run a short errand and I can't do it until 9 a.m. so I'm thinking I'll wait until she gets here and go do it while she works.

I hope you all have a great day!  Make it your own in every way.

Hi Everyone. Our day starts our at 60 degrees but we are to have cloudy skies today with mostly a 20% chance of rain throughout the day.  The high is suppose to get to 66 this afternoon.  Our day yesterday was brightened when our son came out for a couple of hours and he finally got his Christmas presents.  We didn't make it to Diablo's as we had planned yesterday or plan on going early this afternoon and Scott may join us for lunch.  At 4 pm he has his personal interview at T-Mobile and is really looking forward to it.  After that is over he plans on coming out for awhile this evening.

Gloria, I am happy to see that the pain gel is giving you some relief.  Sorry about your twisted left arm as you sure don't need any more pain.

Shirley, Pat has used the Bag Balm salve in the past and just a couple of weeks ago ordered some to be sent to her sister.  Glad to read your son is improving daily.

Jenny, it sounds like yesterday was a good day to stay indoors and enjoy the beauty of the snow from the inside.

Lloyd, that is quite early to be up and talking to Roley.

Amy, my dad used WD40 on his arthritic knees for years.  He had asked his doctor about it and was told there was nothing in it that would hurt him.

Phyllis, I have never liked using lotion and don't like the greasy feeling.  However, I have started using Intensive Care Repair lotion on my dry legs and it has really helped.  It is nice to have this warmer weather in January rather than the extreme cold and snow.

Jane, nice to see you had a good nights sleep and were able to read a good book with the new glasses.  Our housekeeper goes a mile a minute and if I didn't stay out of her way she might try to vacuum me up.  I usually stay in my office and that it about the last thing she cleans.  By that time it is after noon and I am ready to rest.  She usually does the master bedroom and bathroom the first thing so the bed is ready for me.

Good morning everyone.

MARY ANN  since I no longer make cards in the  card shop I thought the beast I could do was post a JL card here. I do love her creations.

SHIRLEY  I havesed bag baln, too. till have some of it, I now use soft soap with Aloe and never had chapped hands since.

LLOYD  only had poison ivy once and had some stuff a pharmacist made up and no itching.

AMY  think I will keep some of that horse liniment on hand, really helps ease the pain.

PHYLLIS  I know what you mean about soft hands and yarn, I used to do a lot of crocheting and knitting till I could no longer do it without my hands cramping. Since I started using soap with aloe my hands are no longer rough.

JANE  I tried buying reading glasses but every pair I tried on the pring was blurry so stick to my prescription ones. I keep telling the eye doctor they need to be stronger for reading but he does not believe me. Maybe time to change?

LARRY  that is what happens when I try to do something I know I should not do. I am still babying the shoulder and it is feeling somewhat better today.

Have a good day.

Good Morning everyone from the cold
but sunny rocky coast of Maine.

I hwave an apointment monday with my "Ortho" man
as I have injured my right arm/shoulder
and it needs some serious attention.

I use DMSO which helps the pain...  (Horse liniment)
Been using it for many many years.

I am hoping that my arm pain is not too serious,
but it sure hurts like the devil.

The "Dynamo" is gone and my house not only sparkles, it also smells clean!

I just has some of my leftover "Mistake casserole" for lunch and it's still good.  I hope I can remember the recipe so I can make it again sometime.  I saved the one with the Alfredo sauce in it and I think I'll just make up a copy of the "mistake" before I forget what I did to it.

I think I'll go start another Amish story and wait for the zzzzs to take over.  My eyes are already tired.  And this must be the week for the sore shoulder.  I don't know what I did to mine but it hurts all the way from my shoulder to my elbow and even my elbow hurts.  I've been using the "Stopain" stuff on it and it seems to be helping but not fast enough!

I hope everyfriend feels better, gets happy, has a nice lunch/supper/whatever and everyone finds peace in their hearts!

Looks like I didn't get in yesterday at all, so may I wish you all a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR ! I saw the ball drop ih New York, in the rain, but did not stay awake for our West Coast.

My Gary and Dori arrived safely in McCall Idaho yesterday and they will have a great time for nine days, spoiling their 3 little Grand kids.

I am just plodding along, going down fo lunch soon. I plan to have soup, salad, and a cheese omelet with toast. It's another to make eggs in the microwave, so I usually have an omelet once a week.

I missed Bible studies today..my own dumb fault...had it planned, but lay down to rest first, and that's what happens to we older people quite frequently.

I am still looking at a stack of greeting cards that need replies. The older I grow the less there is to write about, so one day passes into another, and I get nothing done. The body is holding up fairly well, but the mind is lacking inspiration. It is so easy, and so enjoyable, to just get lost in a good book, and live life through the author.

Now it is time to take the body down for lunch and visit with my table mates. Keep well and happy my wonderful, blessed, friends, and may we all hang in here for another year, OKAY ???? Love you..June

[Good evening, a more normal cold day for Jan.Sandy sorry to hear you have hurt your shoulder.  I hurt mine in my late 80's playing golf; I hite 95 yrds over the water to land 1 inch from the pin. Never played like that again nor had my use of the shoulder. Orthopedic doctor said I needed surgery, but I was to old, as it is a long healing period. Still cannot lift the coffee pot.

Heard from my DIL in Mass. she did not want to tell me before Christmas, she has shingles,  Did not want to worry me.

June I always get a Swiss cheese omelet when I go to Friendly's

Gloria, hope you are feeling better.

Larry nice that you get to see your son.

This doesn't copy good but I like the sentiment of it.

As I step into
Another year
I think of those
No longer here
I'll miss their smiles
I'll miss those laughs
The fun we had
In years gone past
But I reserve
Within my heart
A place for them
While we're apart
My love for them
Will always thrive
My memories
Keep them alive
So as I take
Another step
I'll dry the tears
That I have wept
Embrace the year
Endure its tests
And live the life
That I've been blessed

I'm up and attem.  The doggies were out, had their pill and we'r waiting for the boinger.  I put the clean dishes away from the dishwasher and I'm having my first cuppa coffee while we await the boing.

Nothing special planned but I do have to do something about paying the Insulation guy.  I had ordered new checks sometime back because I was running low and when I got them and used the first one, it was only a matter of days till the bank called to tell me they'd made a mistake and put my savings account number on them instead of my checking account and I'd have to destroy all of them and wait for a new order.  I'm still waiting.  I'm going to call the insulation guy's secretary today and try to explain and then see what I can work out with them.  If they take cards, I could go up there and pay with my debit card.  If they don't this is one place where I won't pay cash.  Maybe a bank draft. Oh well, I'll figure out something.

I hope you all have a wonderful day full of joy and love!

Hi Everyone.  It is early for me but I woke up a little after 3 am and couldn't go back to sleep so after laying in bed for quite awhile I decided to get up and get busy.  The main activity this morning is to pick up my friend and we will go to coffee.  After I drop him back at his apartment I need to stop at the Credit Union close by and cash some savings bonds that have matured and then go on over to Walmart and pick up a prescription for Pat.  That will be plenty for today.  Yesterday we did go to Diablo's for lunch and then around 6 pm Scott came out and spent a couple of hours with us.  We are going to have another rainy day with the high in the mid-60's.  So I will keep my umbrella with me when I am out of the car this morning.

Gloria, having poison ivy once is enough for anyone.  Scott got poison ivy at the same time he was having chicken pox or the measles when he was small.  Glad you have found something to ease your pain. Interesting that your eye doctor doesn't take your word about what you need since he isn't seeing through your eyes.  I sure hope that each day seems improvement with your shoulder.

Sandy, sorry to read that you are have an injured right arm/shoulder.  I hope you won't require surgery.  I haven't heard anyone mention DMSO in a long time.

Jane, isn't it a great feeling to get your house cleaned all at once and you didn't have to do it.  Every two weeks are our is ready to be cleaned and we are not messy people.  It does seem like a small epidemic with shoulder problems here with our friends.

June, aren't grandparents suppose to spoil the grandkids?  ;D I bet the grandkids are enjoying the visit of Gary and Dori.  Do you respond to each greeting card you get or just the ones with personal letters?

Lindancer, is your DIL suffering a lot with the shingles or was she able to get the medication in time to reduce the severity of it?  I am awaiting Walmart getting more vaccine in to get my second shingles shot.  I will ask today when I am there and if they have the vaccine I will go ahead an get that shot as I sure don't want shingles.

JeanneP, like Lloyd I really like the sharing you did of dealing with the years past and losses of family and friends but realizing life goes on.

JeanneP, I liked the poem you posted very much.  Thank you.

Larry, I have some bonds that are matured to take care of, too.  I must get them out and get that done soon.  Also, I've am on a very long waiting list for the shingles vaccine at Walgreen's.  The pharmacist said he had no idea how long it would take to get to my name.  I've had shingles (not fun) and I've had the old shingles shot but supposedly this new vaccine in two shots is more effective.

Grocery shopping day.  It seems to me like that comes around much too often.  It is drizzling rain but not heavy enough to give an excuse to not go.  <sigh>

Nothing of interest to talk about so I'll go get some breakfast and get on with my day.

Good morning..we started our day heading to the city but roads were not nice and I turned back. Cleaned  the driveway and backyard trails for the dog with the snow blower while Kyle did some shovelling. First I phoned the kids as we were to meet them  and phoned the place where I was to pick up more quilts and said to both we will make it another day.

Yesterday I was floors and our messy van but today after taking Kyle out for coffee the van doesn't look clean anymore.

Better get busy and tidy up and purge another room.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Well, doggies, (who was it that said that....OH, I remember, Clampett on Bev Hillbillies)... I looked at weather on the Kindle & said above freezing most nights all week and mid to upper 50s for days, that is almost balmy for early January. BUt, on this computer I see a mass of snow & ice coming up from Callie & says we will be having "sometimes heavy" in about an hour. What a difference a weather guesser makes, huh?

I do have a couple errands to run so will do that sooner than later. Yesterday a local man set up a snow machine on the only hill in this area open to the public, for kids to bring sleds & enjoy. You have no idea how bad I wanted to join them but afraid of becoming a spectacle. I do love snow & a sled ride & not too many 84 (almost) year olds willing to join in. Guess I will have to wait until we get the real snow to ride my sno-nut down my back hill.  :'(  Crazy old lady just wants to enjoy whatever as long as she can, this will stop one day.  I don't want to have any regrets & want to share the sheer joy of doing with y'all.

Must take some left over down to the critters, did not freeze some things early enough & don't think they are safe now. Bad me, I generally watch those things better... but, at least some critters will think I'm giving them a feast.

Amy, this is the first year EVER that I haven't washed the road treatment off my vehicles almost immediately, but poor little Red has ickies all over her sides.  They are treating the main streets with the salt & grime before threat of snow or ice & too many times I've driven over the wet streaks on the street & then dust sticks to it. I discovered this year the car washes (do it yourself ones) are closed!  Shocked me to see that & I'm not willing to spend the huge amount the others charge when next day the same stuff may hit the streets. My snow blower hasn't been gassed up yet (or last year), we do need moisture.

Guess I'd better move, actually got just over 9 hours sleep last night, a record for me. Even more than an hour of deep sleep... the night before not even one minute of deep sleep. Lack of sleep has been going on for a couple weeks so this should help. Back in 1944 on this day my pet chicken, Maggie, died. My older 2 brothers were in the service but the younger one offered to stay home from school to keep me company. We made a plaster of paris little plaque with her name in alphabet noodles (remember that stuff?) & my brother used my sister's nail polish to paint the letters. My mother talked to a vet & was told "probably my sharing fudge with her" was what killed her. She didn't tell me at the time, just that she was getting old for a chicken. My aunt gave her to me at the start of the war when all families met at the farm to talk about the dangers ahead. I was 6.

Wishing all in here a peaceful day, some smiles when remembering the good ole days, and understanding for everyone we deal with today. I forgot to re-heat my cuppa before typing so will do that before heading down to the river.

Good Morning.
Shirley,  wish I could tell you what's headed your way - but OKC is having all sorts of winter weather!

Weather videos showed cars fishtailing and spinning out on icy roads in the south metro earlier this morning.

Dil who lives west of the metro posted Facebook pix of their snow-covered back yard about 9:00.

It's raining at my house north of the metro at 10:45 but, when I tried to sweep a path down the driveway to the trash container, underneath was too slick for me to take a chance on going out to bring it in.

I. Do. Not. Like. January.

Shirley, what is the saying about not regretting what you have done, but regretting what you did not do? I'd love to join you, but at 10 years older than you, I won't take the chance of breaking a leg or arm or something worse.

Don't go out if you don't have to; just sit by a window and watch the world go by.

Lake Michigan is pretty - lots of whitecaps and the sun is shining.

Good afternoon.

Amy, thanks for missing me. I didn't get in here yesterday at all.  Was busy doing a lot of little things that you can't see what I did.

This is the 3rd time that I have started this message  and lost it. So, I am just going to wish you all a wonderful rest of the day. I just don't know what I do to make the message disappear.  Very frustrating.

I really don't have time to write everything over again. I need to get some lunch.

WIll check back tomorrow.

Callie, my son is in your area this week, his first time since heart surgery. The company he retired from a few years ago called him back, he works out of his house most of the time but must make an appearance now & then. He has had that terrible bug that everyone around here has had (even my daughter living in St.Louis took it home with her).... he sounds awful but doesn't think his Dr will go for antibiotics since he just got through with months of them. Anyway, he should be home tomorrow so hope the ice is off the highways by then.

Mary Ann, I do believe 10 years ago you would have joined me and hope I am as attem as you are in MY next 10 years. I don't always use good sense but so far am lucky to not have broken bones (except for a stitch in my head) with my accidents so far. Every time I do get hurt is because I am rushing & don't think there is a cure for that.  :-\

Just had another robo call, answered because it was my area & thought one of the neighbors may need  something. Cell phones don't show who is calling. I am going to get hold of my server today to see if they can finally get me signed up with the nomorobo calling. I have been shouting really bad words into that phone & know nobody hears them... but also blood pressure goes through the ceiling as I hear, "returning your call about some kind of braces Medicare will pay for"........ would anyone REALLY do business with anyone dealing out that kind of advertising???

Good afternoon, Joy.... I missed you, too. I am tired of doing the same ole, same ole as far as cleaning.... just going to need the same ole again tomorrow. I am determined to do serious cleaning out (think I've said that before)...  I have decided NOt to edit any of my posts, every time I do they disappear. I also realize that the message looks like it posted but have to hit the post button again to lock it in. We are still trainable, think positive.  ::)  :crazy2:

Shirley --- We also get those calls, about 3 or 4 time a week.  We also get the credit card calls to reduce your interest rate. I thought our industrius politicians were going to do something about that  :idiot2:

One of THOSE calls that I answered was from someone who wanted to help me reduce my credit card debt.  The first thing she asked was "Is your credit card debt higher than $10,000."  I said, "No" and she hung up on me.  I guess I didn't have enough debt for her.

Another one said she had a plan to help me lose unwanted pounds and how much did I want to lose.  I said, "If I lose any more I'll be sick."  She hung up on me, too!

And then there was the guy who got so angry with me that he got nasty because I wouldn't give him my social security number.

I love deflating them

Now I will bid you all good night because I'm going to read a while and then go to bed early.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a good tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good evening.  Nothing new to report from here.  We did warm up a bit, thankfully.  Tomorrow is to be even warmer.

JANE, glad you found out about the incorrect account numbers on your new check before you wrote anymore checks.  I am sure the insulation company will understand.

GLORIA de, I do hope your DIL was able to get the antibiotics and steroids right away so she is not too uncomfortable with the shingles.

LARRY, I hope you and Pat enjoyed a nice visit with Scott tonight.

My dad has a appointment with the spine doctor tomorrow.  I hope we can get a insight as to how they think his back is doing after the disc repair.  I think he is sounding stronger each day, but he still is not able to tell me if he thinks there is improvement in the pain in his back.

I hope you all have a good night of rest.

Good morning everyone..
We had some snow overnight with more to come......up to 8 inches on Mon :P  Will deal with this snow then head into town for hubby's blister packs. I was thinking of getting my second shingle shot but maybe I should wait till after next week. Too many days of snow with only this Sunday not snowing.

Jane, don't you just love messing with the telemarketers?  Have you noticed any difference with the new insulation?

Shirley, I hope your son feels better and soon. He has been through enough and sure doesn't need this! Looks like I will be using the snow blower a lot we have snow on MTW of next week along with today and tomorrow :(

Jenny, hope your Dad gets good news and a lot of relief from pain.

Larry, waking up at the hour throws your whole day out of whack. Hope you got some quality sleep last night.

Gloria, miss your post. Is your shoulder still giving you grief?

Better move it here..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone. Yesterday was a busy day. My CNA called and asked if she could come early as  one of her clients cancelled. OK, had to hurry and get dressed and have breakfast. Then my oldest son surprised me with a long visit. He gave me a gift certificate for Amazon-never got here. He also brought his Kindall for me, and then set it up for Amazon books. Yipee I now have enough books on it for the whole year I think. By the time he left I laid down on the couch till it was Skype time with my daughter. I am so used to mostly quiet days that when things get busy I am worn out. Looks like I am not the only one with a sore shoulder, just glad it is not my right one. Feels a lot better today but still careful what  I do with it.

JEANNE P  liked your poem, makes on think of those we lost and still miss.

JANE  I don't like paying anything with cash, rather use a check or debit card so there is a record of it.

LARRY  I like this eye doctor, he is not one of the young ones just out of college who uses instruments to tell him every thing.

PHYLLIS  at times I am glad I no longer can go grocery shopping. My CNA goes to the market for me and she loves shopping and using coupons- I call here a coupon queen. She sure saves me money with them. When I need a lot of heavy things and paper stuff I get an order from PeaPod and pick a delivery time when she will be here to help me put things away.

SHIRLEY  going to the weather guessers on different channels no 2 are alike. I still like loo‌k outside in the morning to see what the weather is. Would love to go sliding with you but walking back up a hill would do me in.

JOY  I type on Notepad and do not delete it until I see my post went through. I think Not epad comes is all computers.

JANE  if one of those darn calls was about gaining weight I might listen instead of hanging up. I would never give anyone who called me my SS number.

JENNY  I hope your Dad is in less pain. A back that is in constant pain is not nice.

AMY  my shoulder is feeling a little better each day but will never feel really good again.

Have a great day.

Good morning, Amy and Rick.  Amy, I sure don't envy you having to deal with snow for a couple days.  So far, we have been lucky.

Too early for anything happening so far.  I have had breakfast and when I got on the computer, had no internet service.  Had to re-boot the routers and everything is working ok now.  I had been on my Kindle earlier when I couldn't get back to sleep, and couldn't get on the Internet with that either, so I wasn't surprised when the PC needed re-booting, also. But, all is well now.

Our family's Christmas party is tomorrow, so I will want to get a salad put together. Will add the dressing in the morning and fix the sweet and sour sauce for the meatballs that I will put in the crock pot to heat up.  I buy the meat balls already fixed, so only have to put them into the sauce and cook them for a couple hours before I have to leave.  It will be nice to see a lot of the nieces and nephews that we don't see that much. And, of  course, Santa will make a quick return visit to surprise the little ones.  Not sure how many of them will be there.  I can't keep up with all the new babies that have been arriving in the past couple years. They were coming out of the woodwork for a couple years.

Was nice to see a picture of an old friend "Sun" on the Random image this morning.  Have not heard anything from her for a very long time.

Need to check a couple other sites, so will just wish you all a nice day.

Joy

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's a clear day today and supposed to be sunny all day. There is rain in the prediction but no snow until next Sunday.  We shall see!

The doggies and I are waiting for the boinger.  I wait a bit more patiently than they do.  They shuffle and whine for the last 15 minutes.  They have no concept of an hour.  They just know they're hungry.

AMY, I love messing with the telemarketers.  And when I have something to say that REALLY frustrates them I can hardly keep from laughing out loud.

Yesterday,  noticed that my silverware drawer was drooping a bit.  I did a quick shuffle and it seemed OK.  This morning it drooped suddenly when I closed it.  So I pulled it all the way out and checked.  The support all the way in the back is broken.  So I removed it to a small plastic bag to take to my favorite hardware store. And when the back of the support went down, I noticed that the next drawer was having the same problem.  So out came that one too.  Now they and their contents are on the dining room table and the little bag of broken stuff is in my purse.  I think I'm going to ask my son if he can spare a few minutes to put them back in.  My arms a just a bit short and I'm too big to fit between the front supports.

It's almost time for the boinger and then my day busies up.  I have to have breakfast and then get ready and go to work this morning.  Wish me short lines and lots of smiles.

This is your day!  Make it special in your own way!

Another rainy morning!  I recently read somewhere that here in Central NC we have had more rain in the past year than Seattle has had.  The weather is even crazier than usual.

Jane, something always seems to break somewhere in the house. Everytime I have to have something fixed I feel like I am tip-toeing around so I won't break anything else.  Hope your son can fix the drawers pretty soon.

Those of you that have ice and snow.....please be careful.

Joy, I've been reading like crazy, too.  I have my reader linked to my local library, and to Barnes & Noble web site, and, also, to Amazon Prime.  There are hundreds.....maybe even thousands....of books for me to read.

Gloria, what a blessing your CNA does so much for you.  So glad for you to have her help.

Breakfast is calling.  I'm on my way.

Hi Everyone. Today is a 100% rainy day until late evening.  A couple of things I had planned to try to do today are going to have to wait until next week.  I had a good nights sleep last night but am so tired this morning I can hardly force myself to move but did get my kitchen chores done and things set out for Pat's breakfast, although I may see if she feels up to preparing it herself.  I think today will basically be a day of rest.

Phyllis, while I was at the bank yesterday I sorted through the bonds and have quite a few to cash this year.  While I was sorting I found a couple that I should have cashed in a year or so ago.  I thought I had them all sorted by year of issuance but that was not the case.  I checked with the Walmart Pharmacy yesterday and they did have the Shingles vaccine.  I started to get my second shot yesterday but saw it was going to be quite a delay.  Pat also needs to get here second shot for I didn't wait as was tired and we will both get them at the same time.  I agree about grocery shopping coming around much too often.

Amy, it sounds like you exercised good judgment in turning around on the bad roads and that your situation won't get much better for a few days.

Shirley, I never stop marveling at your and your zest for life.  They showed a lady, who was 90 years old, who had always wanted to sky dive and she did it being held by an experienced diver.  Surprised your son would make a trip if he wasn't feeling well.  The message about someone posting while we were preparing our post is different in this version.  It appears our posting has occurred and it hasn't if someone else has posted.  I think that is why some of my postings have disappeared.

June, your feeling blah yesterday describes how i feel today.  I hope you are feeling better today.

Rammel, I heard or read the other day that there were over 230 billion robo calls made last years.  I am sure that most of us are very annoyed at at being disturbed with them.

Jane, I always think it isn't any one else's business what my financial situation is in terms of debt or anything else.

Jenny, I hope you dad gets encouraging news today.  I expect the trip to the doctor will be pretty unpleasant for him as getting in and out of a car isn't easy when in pain.

Callie, better safe than sorry when the walk isn't safe outside.

Gloria, I am happy to see your son brought you a Kindle that puts a library right in your hand.  Is it a Kindle Fire tablet or just the ebook reader? My problem getting on a sled would be getting up off of it or the ground if I fell off.  I do have good memories of using my sled when I was growing up on the farm.

Joy, it sounds like your get together tomorrow will involve quite a few people.  It should be fun with little ones around.

Good afternoon, I am also tired. Quite a week.
Weather stays in the 40's, the wind makes it feel colder.
Been a busy week, Wed. I was suppose to go to the hematologist, but my rider forgot. Thurs a friend took me grocery shopping. To day was the cardiologist . To morrow is a special appointment with the foot doctor, the toe is not getting any better. Was surprised Pulmonary doctor called  that I have a 1PM appointment with him Monday. I forgot all about that one.

Larry and June, hope you both feel better.

Amy we seem to be having so much rain, which I am not complaining.    The longer we go in Jan, without snow makes me happy.  I am so glad when this month is over. One rule here in the park is we keep our walkway clear, in case an ambulance has to come in. You can tell I live in a senior park. Also the mailman does not have to deliver mail, if you box is not clear for them to drive up too.

I'm home and I'm cold, tired and out of sorts!  My favorite hardware store has to order the part I need and I have to wait until Wednesday to fix my drawers.  So two of my drawers will sit on the dining room table until then.  I did put the stuff I use all the time in containers and have them on the kitchen counters but now I have to get busy and put away the Christmas stuff to make room for the stuff that should be out of sight in drawers.

I think I'll go take a nap!

Another nothing day for me.Really feeling so tired. Woke up at 4 a.m. with a nose bleed. It was really running out, so a little later I called the clinic, and they came up and took my vitals Nothing wrong there, and I guess they were as puzzled as I am why it bled like that. I ordered lunch sent up as I was not feeling very sociable, and have half of it left for supper. Weather has been sunny, but cool. I have my heat on now.

All I have planned it supper at home, then on to bed and book. News seems to just be a repeat of yesterday and nothing else worthwhile, so that's when I treasure my books. I will bid you all a very peaceful night, and Larry, I pray our God heals you up soon, and the same prayer for others needing His healing. Peace, Love and Prayers to all. June

Jane, just had to say it....not good to have droopy drawers. Go ahead, I deserve it :bash:  Hope your nap helped.

Gee, Shirley.... you out of sorts, too?  :sorry:

Almost makes me  :-[  to say it was a lovely sunny day in Central Oklahoma and warm enough to melt a lot of the snow we had yesterday. After not being out of the house since Monday,it was really nice to get my hair done and do a couple of errands.  Even the parking lots were dry.
Temperatures are supposed to keep rising until we're in the 60's by the middle of next week.

Miss Ellen has had a hard time getting back to NYC.  She was supposed to fly out at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday and change planes in St. Louis.
That flight was cancelled and the entire OKC airport "ceased operations" for the rest of the day.  They didn't get back into business until the wee hours, which meant the same flight was cancelled this morning.
Just learned that she's on a 6:00 a.m. flight tomorrow morning and will change in Dallas - AND the airline didn't charge her anything extra for the longer flight.

Sleep well, Everyfriend  ('specially those who aren't feeling up to par   :hugs:)  and have pleasant dreams.

It's OK, CALLIE!  I knew someone would pick up on the "droopy drawers" and you're right...it's not good to have them.  And to have to endure them for 6 days, maybe even 7, is even worse.  If I could soak the in hot water and just shrink them to fit, I'd be happy.

I did get a nap, had some supper, watched 2 episodes of M*A*S*H and read some more of my Amish Christmas stories.  Now I'm going to bed and try to sleep.  Tomorrow has to be a better day!  I hope yours is, too, Shirley and I hope everyfriend has a lovely day, too.

I won't post when there aren't at least 2 posters between me at night and me in the morning. Nothing really happens over night to warrant it.

Good Morning!

Good morning..

Like Lloyd I too had trouble sleeping...annoying that is! Think I saw every hour on the hour last night.

Laundry today and more purging of "stuff" . Dull day here so doubt laundry will be hung out.

Jane, hope you can get your droopy drawers fixed soon. :)

June, is the air in your room dry, do you need a humidifier?

Well I had better skedaddle ,sleeping in felt good but now I need to move it.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm almost embarrassed to say that I slept pretty good last night.  I had to make a trip a couple of times but went right back to sleep and didn't wake up until after 6 a.m.  And, wonder of all wonders!, the sun is shining this morning.

Shirley, I managed to sift through Spectrum's very confusing web site and turn on Nomorobo calls because you mentioned it a couple days ago. I hope it works because they are driving me crazy.  Many more of those annoying calls have been coming in recently and that is in spite of the fact that I NEVER answer the phone if I don't recognise the caller id.  I laughed at all of your smileys....that was the way I was feeling yesterday while spending a long time on the phone with Spectrum.  I don't think anyone in that company knows what they are doing!

I'm very sorry that so many of you are feeling so tired and not up to par.  I hope that all of you improve very quickly.  Larry, June, and All, I am thinking good and positive thoughts and prayers for you.

Good morning to "Droopy Drawers" Jane.  Did you TRY soaking them in water to shrink them?  It just might work.....or not.

I haven't said this for awhile.....MAKE it a good day, Everyone!

Good Saturday morning !  I am just here to say Hi !  I have a busy day that has already started.  Got my sweet and sour meatballs ready to go into the crockpot and have everything else ready to go.

Hopefully, I will not be too tired to check back in when I get back home this evening.

I hope everyone will feel better today and have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  Finally we have a bright and clear sky today with no rain in the forecast.  I have another quiet day planned as still not feeling very energetic.

Shirley, I got a kick out of your posting yesterday with all of the smileys.  That was cleaver.

June, thanks for your comment.  I know God has the ultimate healing for me even if it is not during this lifetime.  I hope you feel a little stronger today.  Nice that you can have your meal brought up to your room.

Callie, nice to see your weather has improved and you were able to get out of your house yesterday.  It is nice we have the option of staying in but also nice when we are able to get out.  I hope Miss Ellen is able to get back to NYC today.

Jane, that was a lot of MASH to watch in one day.  I still enjoy watching that program occasionally.  I think we have several of the episodes recorded.

Lloyd and Amy, it is frustrating when we try to go to sleep and our mind keeps racing from one thought to another.

Phyllis, we must be having similar weather as we also have a cloudless sky with bright sun.  It is a little nippy outside but pleasant.

I'm back!  Nice to see all of you and I hope your days (and nights) improve.  I keep thinking that if I could just get one good nights sleep, my whole outlook would improve.  No matter how much I get up or move around in the bed, the doggies sleep through it.  The are always up between 6 and 6:30 a.m. and that means I am, too.

My daughter picked me up to go to the Amish store this morning and on the way, we passed a building that I've been watching go up.  I had noticed that most of the men working on it were Amish and now it turns out that it's going to be another store like the one we go to.  This one is less than 2 miles from where I live and the other one is about 12 miles.  There is now a sign at the road proclaiming it to be "Davy's"  and we're wondering is "Davy" might be the son of the guy who has the other store.  It looks to be the same size and the sign is very similar to the one on the store where we go.  I go by that corner all the time and I'll probably be one of their first customers when they open.

I've decided not to do much of anything else today except maybe to get start on packing away Christmas things.  I have a feeling it won't be a big start!

I wish you all well!

Good morning everyone. Another day of rain here. Getting so days like this I ache all over. Still think I rather see snow this time of year.

Anyone getting tired of signing in every morning here? For the last week I also have to hunt for my last post, used to open there all the time. Getting tired of hunting to where I ended the time before. Oh well, guess I am getting cranky with the weather an not being able to do much anymore.

JOY  only snow here so far was in November other than a few snow flurries.

PHYLLIS  on local news earlier this week one weatherman said we had 63 inches of rain last year, broke a record. I thank God I have a good CNA at last. I had some who only wanted to sit and do nothing.

LARRY  no matter how many hours I sleep I still feel tired when I get up in the morning. No more ge t t ing up and start moving like I used to. Along with the other kids in the neighborhood in winter we lived either on our sleds or ice skates. See very few youngsters playing outside these days. The Kindle my son gave me is an old one of his. his son gave it  to him about 15 years ago I THINK.

GLORIA  de  a mail man does not have to leave mail if he cannot safely get to it. That is a long standing rule at the post office.

My son just got here for a weekly visit soo will wait till he leaves to finish here---------
WOW my son was in a talking mood today.

PHYLLIS  if the droopy drawers are wood soaking in water would make them swell not shrink, wouldn't it?

LARRY  my meal for later is ready, my son brought me a Italian cold cut grinder from a place I like, dressing separate so not soggy when I am ready to eat. Looking forward to it.

JANE  glad I did not put any Christmas decorations up, don't have the work of putting things away now. That is something I no longer can do.

Pouring again so think I will go lay on the couch and watch some TV if I can find something good. Enjoy the rest of the day.

We are having a heavy overcast sky today.our weather is usually so much the same sun, sun and more sun so I appreciate any change at all.

I woere myself out early today. Shanpooed my hair before the warm shower and it really tired me. Got into a clean nightgown, sat down to use the breathing machine, then got a cuppa' cafe, did the morning reading and prayers and sang a hymn, and put myself back to sleep for an hour. Now have had breakfast, dressed in "walking" clothes, so ready for some exercise before lunch time.

Feeling more like myself today, but not ready to go dancing. Any little improvement helps, so Larry, I am praying for improvement for you. God will want to use you down here before you get to Heaven, so my prayer is for good health NOW..we need you Larry.

with that said, I am going to walk the hallways before lunch time arrives. Hugs, Love and Prayers to all who need them. June /color]

Time for my Sat night bath/shower. Not the only day of week I do this :D but a "for sure job" since I get up so early to go to church on Sunday morning.  I fix myself breakfast & feed cats, take my weekly aspirin (regular 325mg Bayer) & leave the house by 7:00am. We all have our routines, don't we?

Larry, I really was in a bad mood when I started clicking on every mad/mean smiley but by the time I got through, was smiling. I do work hard at being happy, think a left over from WWII when I felt like it was my job to make Mom & Dad smile. They were so worried about the war & my brothers... and keeping shoes on my feet (with leather rationed, I wore out my shoes & anyone else's that had some they outgrew). My mother turned gray those years.

I was 6 when it started & 10 when over, our world revolved around what we could do to help. Polio hit the next door neighbor boy, a big fear. Mother was a volunteer plane spotter (a base 20 miles away) on top of the court house. She also volunteered to help roll bandages, I don't know where they got the fabric, but it was used for military hospitals. She wrote my brothers every single day so when mail caught up with them, they always had a lot to read as well as packages she sent all the time. Dad did his part by helping every neighbor & friend keep their cars & all machinery running. He could fix anything, even made parts for some things.

I was a cheerleader as a kid & and for nearly 60 years married to a man that always saw the dark side, kept him "up". When I first read Pollyanna I didn't understand why people thought she was unusual... I totally understood her reasoning.

Got to admit, it's harder, the older I get, to find the good in everyone & every deed. I realize my days are limited to be able to slide down the hill on that Sno-Nut, but will keep at it as long as I can. I did see the 90 year old do the jump & I would try to hang glide if given a chance.... would also still like to ski just once, altitude a problem, but I'd do it.

Janie, hope your droopy drawers can be fixed next week. Every time someone writes that I picture my 2 year old greats last 4th of July, girl was host to the party so showing her boy cousin where they had to stand with that big fireworks going off in the middle of their street. Such a cute picture with both being in diapers yet, their "drawers" looked so big (and droopy).

June, my youngest son used to wake up with nose bleeds just running.... not just a dry nose. I would give him an iron pill & bonemeal and that would stop it. Then I would make sure our meals were "iron rich".  At one time I was considered a bleeder & had to have vitamin K shots... but I hit the iron & fixed me up.  Do hope you don't have more, but my son that just had heart surgery was low on iron & his doctor came up with a new iron that helped him right away. He was taking a calcium that didn't work so I suggested he try the bonemeal that worked when he was a kid... it comes from shin bones of cattle raised on organic type pastures instead of being calcium from oyster shells. Works for me & worked for the kids when they were at home. You have such good care I have no doubt they are doing everything they can to help you, sometimes "they" haven't had a reason to look for low iron being a cause. I hope it was a one time nose bleed & you don't have to do anything more.

Gloria, you know I always do everything backward so when I come into Friends, I start out here & scroll to the last post & work my way back to MY last post.... I do the same when I visit Photos. This worked the same on the old software as this so "I don't know any better". ;D

SHIRLEY, when I was a kid, I was subject to nosebleeds, too and it was determined to be low iron also.  For almost two years I took extra iron and had to drink something my milk or water that just about gagged me.  I remember telling my mom once that I thought I might rather had the nosebleed.  She assured that I wouldn't and added "Drink".  About two years later the dr allowed us to cut back on the iron but not quit it and I didn't have to drink the crappy stuff any more.  It was think and kind of like trying to mix mayonnaise in milk or water.  I forgot what it was called.  I guess I really didn't want to remember.  But I haven't had any nosebleeds since that time.

My drawers aren't drooping right now.  They're taking up space on the dining room counter.  And the stuff I use regularly...silverware, sharp knives, can openers, etc. are in containers taking up spaceon the kitchen counters.

I'm off to bed soon so I'll say good night Everyfriend.  Sleep well and wake refreshed.  And may God bless us, every one!

Been up a while, cats fed & I should be fixing my egg, but checked how well I slept (5 hours+), this Fitbit keeps me honest, gives me the daily/weekly sleep & how sound. Couple days this week I got more than 8 hours with naps, helps make up for those 4 hour (+ or -) nights.

Jane, my sister had to take the icky stuff when we were kids but don't think anyone ever thought I was anemic TOO bad because I was "perpetual motion" as Mother called it. The Dr did test me when I was pregnant with the middle kid, he didn't believe I could be anemic but I knew what it felt like. After running the test twice he came in the room & said, "you really are anemic". Tried at least 8 types (samples.. 58 years ago) of iron before finding one that didn't double me over with stomach cramps. My eyes are the first to give me trouble when low.

By the way, your drawer problem made me think about taking a few things out of my "tool" drawer. Do you have one of those? Mine has a hammer, every tool I need & then some, including pruning sheers a 50' steel tape, etc.... poor drawer groans every time I pull it out but never thought about it breaking. My husband used to leave whatever he had in his hands on the cabinet & this drawer was the catch all, still has washers, screws, etc. & first place I look for any size nail or screwdriver.

As a matter of fact, the Betty Crocker electric mixer that was a wedding present used to stop in the middle of mixing a cake & more than once I would take it apart to "file down the brushes"... which were little things that had to make contact with something to work. Dad showed me how to fix it one time & it lasted for at least the first 40 years doing that. He would put in new ones now & then. Also had a round canister vacuum that I would take apart & put back together (never did anything but it worked). One shop I called to ask about repairs told me "if you ever take those little wafers apart it's done for".  Since that's what I had been doing every time, I decided HE wasn't the one to take it to. It didn't get dumped for more than 40 years & was a "fire sale" bargain at $8. when I bought it used. I need my "tools".  ;) Always had Dad or Cas to fix the serious problems but I didn't hesitate working on them. Now my kids fill in when I fail. I'd better get moving, not dressed for church yet & still need to eat so I can take my weekly aspirin.  :)

Lloyd, the story behind that photo is I never saw it until after my brother died. I saw many taken the same day with a closed mouth Shirley scowling at the camera. Never remembered why I was scowling because I was always happy. When my brother's widow sent me a packet of photos & negatives years later, that toothless one showed up & I remembered him chasing me all day to catch me smiling. Thank you for not thinking me being a complete nut!  :)

Good morning everyone..

The sound of the wind in the pines woke me this morning . Before my feet hit the floor ,I hoped there was no new snow to deal with. Weather guesser said no snow today but snow Fri Sat which we didn't get.

Yesterday I practised for today....a day of rest. I even had a nap  after I did the laundry, just couldn't get both oars in the water at the same time it seemed. Today is a day of rest :)

I also used to get nosebleeds ,I remember getting my nose cauterized once. Low iron has been a problem in the past but seems ok now. Liver used to be a meal I enjoyed but eating it 3 times a day plus snacking on it in between and taking 6 iron pills a day stopped my love of liver :(

June, happy tp read you are feeling better, just take it easy. Soon enough you will be waltzing about.

Gloria, is a grinder  like a sub?

Larry hope you are feeling better today, Hope you can take it easy today.

Better get going.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, 31° and everything is covered in ice this morning. With it getting below freezing overnight after all the rain yesterday when I looked out this morning and looked at the cars I thought glad I did not have to try scraping the ice off the car windows. Yippee this morning I did get to my last post so much happier starting.

JUNE  glad you felt much better yesterday. That is what  we like to see.

SHIRLEY  I tried that going to the end and going backwards but that go me all mixed up. Guess I am a stubborn Frenchwoman and get into a routine and don't take well to changing it.

JANE  you make me glad I didn't have nosebleeds, just the thought of drinking something horrible wants to make me gag.

AMY  yes a grinder and sub are the same thing depending on where it is bought and the area one lives. I have heard other names for them, too.

Have a good day.

Good Sunday morning.

I didn't get back here yesterday.  Was tired when I got home and ate a little snack, watched TV for a while and then went to bed.

Our family party was very nice. I guess it was about 50 adults and 5 or 6 little ones. Not as many as we were hoping for, but still a nice group. It was held at a nice community hall in a neighborhood where one of the nieces lives.  Had lots of good food.  We had the Chinese auction, which is always a lot of fun. The joke gifts are always a big hit.  You are really not supposed to buy something, just bring something you don't want anymore, but there are usually some who will buy a gift.  Always fun when somebody decides they  want to switch for something better than they got.  There was a bottle of wine that made for several exchanges.  The little ones were cute, and excited when Santa made an appearance "on his way back to the North Pole".  Everyone seemed to have a nice time.

It is a pretty sunny morning, and supposed to be in the 50's.  The Baltimore Ravens will be playing the first game of the play-offs, and the whole city is gearing up for a big win.  I am not that much interested in the games since the players all started protesting "whatever".  But, I will probably watch some of it, especially to see if they win.

I want to try to finish getting all the Christmas decorations taken down today. I didn't do much inside my place, but I did help decorate our sitting area out in the hall. So, that will be the extent of my "work" today, along with cleaning up a few dishes that I had left in the sink yesterday.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Joy

Hi Everyone on a beautiful sunny and crisp morning.  However we are expecting to get to 68 degrees today.  I am not going to Sunday School or Church this morning as just don't have the energy.  I didn't accomplish anything yesterday and it appears this may be a duplicate.  Pat even fixed my breakfast this morning and there is something wrong with this picture as I should be fixing hers but I appreciate her help.  I hope I can get up enough energy so we can go out for our main meal today.

I have read all the postings and appreciate you all sharing.  However, I just don't feel up to writing any more here.  I'll try to do better tomorrow. Please don't worry about me as I am OK other than the extreme fatigue.

Larry, while we are on the subject of anemia...  ;) , here's a link to how WE tend to blame every ache, pain, & weariness on age. https://www.aafp.org/afp/2000/1001/p1565.html  For a long time my husband would take the iron & bonemeal I offered him & always perked up. BUT, his doctor kind of rolled his eyes & insinuated that his blood tests were not that bad. I quit suggesting. I also get the same reaction when I bring it up (same doctor  ;)  ), but I KNOW when I feel better & willing to do what it takes. Right or wrong, I'm taking the blame for what I choose to do, but I was not willing to take blame for someone else. I know taking iron isn't going to fix congestive heart failure (like my husband had), but if it helps the breathing (he was checked by a lung specialist & not a lung problem), why not take advantage of it? Do hope you feel better fast, okay to take one day off.  :coolsmiley:

Joy, loved reading about the party.... we haven't thought about doing the crazy gift thing yet.. so far the main subject is eating & feeding.

Amy, I really hated liver, even the smell of it frying with onions. BUT, I love those bacon wrapped little chicken livers served at most of the Christmas parties long ago. I used to even make them but had not thought about them for years.  Maybe the liver outweighs the bad of the bacon?  ;) EDIT: Thanks for the back up warning to Larry!

Any news about how Pat is doing? Boy, I just looked outside & the wind is howling, trees down along the river are swaying like you wouldn't believe!  Don't see any birds flying around, guess it's hard for them to navigate. Windshield wipers ran on the way home from church & McDonald's... it's a gray day, not that cold but wind cuts through clothes like one is bare. Supposed to be nice, above normal for several days (camping weather  :nanadance: ).

OK, maybe I need more iron!  I'm willing to try anything.  I've been so tired and I can't seem to sleep soundly more than one to two hours a night.  I wake up with an "urgent call" and I can't go back to sleep.  I've even stashed a bottle of melatonin in the bathroom and I take one before I go back to bed.  I'm feeling so tired and I tried to put it down to old age but maybe it's not.

Enough of that!  Larry, should we go get a bottle of iron tablets?  I will if you will. I never thought about it affecting the eyes.  My bones are strong!

However, my memory isn't.  I've forgotten what I wanted to say to some of you so I'll just wish you all a good day.  Sorry about my complaining, today!  Tomorrow has to be better!

I wish it were still Sat. when I felt so alive. I woke this morning again with a bleeding nose.....it was running blood again, so I called the clinic, they sent up the night time Nurse. He saw what was happening so packed my nose with gauze and put an icepack on my upper area of the nose. That did it. Later a nurse came up and said they planned to run a bunch of tests..So I will probably be wakened early for starters. In reading all your posts, I am most definitely going to push for the  Iron and Bonemeal. Makes good sense to me. The medical profession is either unaware of more simple cures, or never knew of them.

So...it has been an off day for me again. I had a light lunch at home, and I think I will have a bowl of oatmeal and yogurt for supper. I use quaker oats Instant oatmeal with apples and cinnamon. Microwave deal.It is tasty and easy to prepare and good for digestion.

So My dear ones, you too Micheal..thanks for your wishes...I will be off to fix supper then on to bed and book. I love you all so much, my cyber family. God grant you a peaceful night and a new, invigorating tomorrow.Hugs, Hugs, Hugs, and prayers. June

June, I had a couple of nosebleeds 2 1/2 years ago, same nostril both times, went to ER where they packed the nostril both times.  I'm very careful with that side of my nose and so far have had no repeats (knock on wood).  I don't think you have the same problem I might have here in winter, but I have Tom fill up my humidifier which moistens the air because with the heat on daily, the air gets dry in the house.  I am not sure that in California you have the dry air problem.

Other than the above, I have no words of wisdom.  And I hope the powers that be can find the source of your problem because I know it is upsetting to wake up with a bleeding nose.

Probably at our age, our nasal membranes are thinner and that could contribute to the nose bleeds.

June, I am so happy they are going to give you a "going over". When you mentioned packing your nose with gauze, I recalled going in the hospital room with my parents, Dad's brother laying on the gurney and hearing the nurse saying, "Mr.Smith (real last name), you wouldn't be needing this if you had been taking your iron & calcium like you should".  Made a lasting impression on me. I was the one that discovered the bonemeal helped the iron absorb & kept the stomach from cramping (& no constipation problems from iron). Original bone meal was in powder form & my doctor suggested I put it in orange juice or over oatmeal, etc. Instead, I went to the pharmacy & asked to buy the largest gel capsules they had & proceeded to fill them with the bone meal. Since then I found other places that sell (besides the health food stores) tablets. I buy mine from Puritan Pride online, they used to be SO cheap & now have gone up to crazy prices. I think they have become an "in" thing with the younger group. They still carry the kind I buy (with added D) but also have some that cost more with new titles. I'll post the link if you want. Scratch that... I just looked & they are "out of stock and no date when fulfilled".  That is shocking!  I did find it in the health food store so Google. I know at one time it was "out of favor" with the industry because of contamination problems. It is one vitamin I never take past the due date, but my roses love it! Hopefully your nursing staff will have newer remedies if it proves to be what you need. (((hugs to you)))This is what I take. https://www.puritan.com/bone-health-241/bone-meal-with-vitamin-d-000253

Mary Ann, my husband had a problem with dry air as well. He ran a humidifier near his bed but thought it too much trouble having to use distilled water & not just water from the faucet. WE had warnings about the hard water leaving a fine "dust" on everything & that we would breathe it in. We then had a whole house humidifier put on the furnace & it does keep the humidity at what ever setting we like. I had it replaced not long ago, & a year ago. My husband didn't think it needed to be replaced that often, but sure works better!

Had a phone call from a long time friend & we talked an hour & half... so guess I'd better get off here & think about going to bed. I forgot I just walked away from the computer & didn't sign out or post. Good night & sweet dreams.

qGood evening.  Another weekend over and done in a flash!  We got most of the Christmas decorations taken down today, but ran out of time me so will have to finish packing the rest tomorrow.  We had dinner with Dr. Dave's Family, and enjoyed our time together very much.

Today our Jonah is a month old already.  We received new pictures today and he has grown so much.  Sure would like to pick him right out of the pictures and hold him so tight.

My dad will be going in to the spine doctor again in a week or so.  They will knock him out again and do some shots to try to help with the pain.  He will do this two times in the next month.  I sure hope this will help him.  Diane thinks that dad is better, but he is still very uncomfortable so what ever else they can do for him will sure be appreciated.

Pleasant dreams to you ALL.

Jenny

well I still love all my friends on line and off. senior and young but I do not as I read as others feel the same way with the changes in the format of S & F form. maybe am just getting to feel the old age I am, but I have earned the right to do so. seams so many people think I can no longer think for my self. but I still feed myself shower by my self and do all my choosers most of the time by my self, just takes longer to do them. Nancy has a appointment
with her doctor on Wednesday morning at 8;30 AM. between then and now we are going to get food clothes and other desires and needs in the R V and go to her appointment in it and hit the road from there. am going to activate the hot spot so we will be on line while traveling. It cost $50 every 30 days so we kill it when we are not on the road. you know a piney saved is a piney earned. hope you all have a great day.

Good morning everyone..

-3° F here this morning and the snow did not come that was predicted!!

Not sure what is happening here today, I just know I have to take hubby in to see if he can start physio. The RA Dr gave him a script  to start this with hopes that it will help his shoulders.

I was talking with my son last night and of course I asked him what the weather was like in Arkansas and he said he was in a tee shirt and shorts.......he is headed to TX . I hope on his way back warmer weather will follow him.

Lloyd, safe travels on the highways and hope you and Nancy enjoy the warmer weather and the time away.

Jenny, hope your Dad gets some relief from pain.

I had better get ready for the day.

Take care everyone..

I noticed that I didn't say "Good Night" last night.  So I'll wish you a special Good Morning Everyfriend.  We are awaiting the boinger....some of us more patiently than others.  There is a whining doggie behind me and she seems to think I should be paying more attention to her.

I'll be off to Wally World later today to stand behind the counter and greet the shoppers.  Wish me short lines and lots of smiles.

I've gathered all the stuff to make and can spaghetti sauce.  I used my last jar of homemade when Frankie was here in September and I haven't had any since then.  I've tried some commercial sauces and they're OK but I miss my Italian MIL's sauce.  I probably won't start it until later in the week because once it's started, it has to go into the jars.  I don't have any extra fridge space to hold it for any amount of time.

I think I slept better last night than I have in a month of Sundays!  I feel rested this morning and ready to take on the world.   Well, maybe not THE world but at least WALLY World!

I better close this because the boinger has about 3 minutes to go and then both doggies will be breathing down my neck.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone, at last we have the sun shining this early, no rain but not warm either,18°. Maybe I will be able to go outside for fresh air later.

JOY at Christmas when my DIL's family all gather they have a Yankee Swap, and that is similar to what you had yesterday only new things within a certain price range. I have been there with them many times. Best time was when one almost bald man got a shower cap and he could not give it away. He had a great sense of humor and it was all in fun.

LARRY  your post yesterday did not sound like you. I hope you feel much better today. if not better call your doctor for an appointment. God watch over you.

AMY  if anyone told me not to eat chocolate I would pay no attention to them, have to have a little of it just about  every day.

SHIRLEY  the link you put in in your post to Larry did not work for me.

JANE  you are not a complainer so when something is bothering you let us know. Possible someone can give a hint at what is wrong. You know that doctors do not approve of anything that is not a prescription. The old Mother Nature's remedies might work much better like Shirley uses.

JUNE  hope you feel better today.

JENNY  I sure pray the doctors can help your dad. A back that hurts is no fun and can get depressing at times.

LLOYD  hope your next trip in your RV is wonderful. You and Nancy deserve to enjoy yourselves now after all the years of hard work.

AMY  with us getting into the coldest part of the year Tshirts and shorts sounds like a dream.

JANE  like you I like my own sauce. I think I have tried all the different ones out there and never found one half as good as homemade.

Have a great day.

Hi Everyone.  This is our third beautiful and sunny day.  It is 44 right now but we have an expected high of 67.  I am happy to write this morning that I am feeling like my old self.  Late yesterday afternoon it was like a wave passed over me and I knew things were looking up.  I have had spells like the last three days from time to time although this last one of three days may have been the worst.  So I will enjoy today and not worry about tomorrow.  I have three errands to run this morning which will not take very long.  The rest of the day is free. I did watch a lot of college basketball and some of the pro football games yesterday.

The morning is quickly passing and I need to get the errands done so will be back to finish my posting for today when I get back home.

Good morning!  A cloudy morning and on the cool side.  The prediction is to have wintry mix by this week's end.  I hope they are wrong but I'll try to be prepared anyway.

It was David's birthday yesterday so I took him out for dinner.  I really felt tired before the time to leave but just was determined to go, anyway.  I felt much better after getting there so I am glad I made the effort.

It is business as usual today and the laundry is just about through in the washer and ready for the dryer.  I want to make a peach cobbler today, also.  I defrosted some peaches on Saturday and ran out of energy to make the cobbler then so I MUST do that today.

Short lines and BIG smiles at Walmart today, Jane.

I'm back from doing my errands and sitting down to rest for a little bit before lunch.  It was really a nice morning to be out and I had no waiting the four places I went.

Amy, I have discussed the exhaustion with my cardiologist and he had no answers.  I don't want you to have to give up chocolate so I won't tell you not to worry.  There are just going to be some days when I don't feel up to spending the time to post much on the discussion.  I hope your husband well be able to start his physio.  Maybe your son will bring back some of our warmer weather as it sounds like you need it.

Shirley, my iron level is checked every time I have blood test and is OK. I will do some reading on iron and bonemeal.  I would want the bonemeal in a tablet or capsule.  Thanks for the information.  Like you I dislike the smell of liver.  One of the places I used to go with one of my lunch group of men served liver and onions and I told those who ordered it they would have to sit at another table.  Of course I didn't mean it.  I haven't heard anything new about Pat Halback.

Jane, I got up for an hour and sat in my chair in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep.  I worked a jigsaw puzzle and after an hour was ready to go back to bed and then sleep three or four more hours.  I hope today turns out to be a better day for you.  It is hard to beat homemade of just about anything in the way of food.  I bet your spaghetti sauce is delicious.  We generally use the already prepared sauce but I think Pat usually spices it up a bit and it is pretty good.  Glad to see  you slept better last night.  A good nights rest really makes a difference.

June, do you have a lot of blood to spare as you seem to keep losing it.  It isn't a nice feeling to have your nose packed with gauze.

Mary Ann, I remember we used to have to run a humidifier when our kids were small.

Jenny, the first month of Jonah's life sure has sped by. I sure hope the shots will help your dad's back pain.

Lloyd, glad to read that you are near taking off for Florida and it sounds like Nancy has made a good recovery.

No  nosebleed this morning, thank you God. My Nurse gave me an early visit, and she is on the ball. Checked my records and I will be getting iron added to my other stuff. She was not aware of bone meal but will look into it. I am feeling more confident reading all your messages, thank you !!!!!!! I found a whole jar of Yeast tablets in my cupboard, so I have started to use them again. I don't remember why I bought them, but as long as they are there, I will use them upl

Larry, don't push doing chores when you are not really ready for it. You can always find someone who would b happy to do things for a minor wage. even a close neighbor, or a student that needs a bit of spending money. Your health is the most valuable asset you have....guard it carefully.

Time for me to scoot down for lunch, then nap time will follow, but I do hope to return later. June

I put in my 4 hours and when I was almost to the door, the greeter told me I better put up my hood because it was snowing out there.  It was and there wasn't much on the ground or the cars but by the time I got home, the flakes were about 4 times bigger and twice as fast.  I was going to do an errand o the way home but I decided to come right home instead.  it's slowed a bit now but the ground is covered and the guessers are saying snow and sleet will continue through the night.  I'm really glad I don't have to go anywhere today or tomorrow.  Maybe I'll get the rest of the Christmas stuff put away.  I hope it clears off by Wednesday so I can get to the hardward store to pick up my drawer "undroopers".  I'm getting tired of reaching for the silverware drawer and finding a hole and no silverware.

SHIRLEY, we have a pretty complete Natural Food and Garden center just outside of town and I called to see if they carry the bone meal tablets or if they can order them.  They're closed on Monday.  Rats!

LARRY, I'm glad to hear you're feeling better today.
JUNE, No nosebleed today....HOORAY!!

Now I'm going to go do some real, honest-to-gooness goofing off....big time.  I've decided that tomorrow is the day to get the rest of he Christmas decorations put away and then Wednesday when the hardware store calls me, I'll get that job done and Thursday, I'll start the spaghetti sauce.  So I have to take care o the goofing off today or it will never get done!

Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend....goof off, eat, play games, open the window and breathe in the fresh air, have a forbidden snack, take the dog for a walk...whatever suits your fancy!

I had a nice nap today, two hours, then another walk and home to heat up some fried chicken for supper. v-8 juice will be my vegetable and a  banana for dessert. It is quite cool tonight so an early bed and book will be snuggle time before the final meds and then sleep.

No more nagging Larry, you know what you need, so go for it.I have a small tad of Christian Bros.brandy in water before my meal, and it suits me fine.

My doctor agrees with me. She also told me not to buy a humidifier...too noisy. instead I use her method. I hang a wet bath towel in front of my forced air heater and get good humidity that way. I have to rewet the towel two or three times a day, but that's good exercise.

I think my chicken is ready to eat, so off I go. Have a Blessed sleep my friends. I love you so much. June

Good morning everyone...

Not all the work got done yesterday. I ended up going for a new battery for the van ,the other one was the original battery and we didn't want to take any chances with it. This morning I have a  date with the snow blower. I could hear the snow hit the house last night and knew I would be busy waltzing this morning. Need to get it done before VON gets here!

Will be back later.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Lloyd, it could have been wet snow until I go out in it I don't know if it was or not. My hearing is very good, I don't have a problem at all with it. Once when I took the pup Babe out I heard something over head.it was the wind in the wings of an eagle I was hearing. I can also hear the wind in the wings of low flying geese or loons flying over.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I tried to get in earlier but I couldn't open S&F.  I might have beat AMY in if it had opened when I tried.

I started collecting all the Christmas stuff what's left of the dining room table after the kitchen drawers.  Now I'm determined to get it put away.  Something that's really urging me on to do this is that my daughter and granddaughter from Maryland will be arriving around 7 Wednesday night for a couple days if the weather doesn't turn nasty.  I have to have the dining room table to feed them a couple of meals.  One of the good parts of this is, if the hardware for the drawers comes on Wednesday, Christy is very good at small home repairs.  She'll help me put them in place.

LLOYD, if there's wind with the snow, it can hit the house pretty hard.  Even with my bad hearing, I've heard that happen.

Now I better get started or nothing will get done.  Enjoy your day, whatever it brings.

Good morning everyone, woke aching all over, must not have moved at all during my sleep and then it  has been snowing/raining. Cars are covered and the roofs but roads and the traffic part of the parking lot are clear, just wet and cars are moving right along on the road.

LARRY  glad you were feeling better yesterday.

PHYLLIS  glad you went out and it was worth the effort. I like going outside at least every day but now with the cold weather it is a job to bundle up and go out but it is worth it to get the fresh air. Not when it is raining though.

JUNE  glad you woke yesterday with no nose bleed. I know my Dad would get them at times, I have been lucky so far not having any.

JANE  funny how when we were young we drove in all kind of snow but now we just want to stay home. With me I have finally got all all appointments from late March till early November so I don't  have to be on the roads with someone else driving.

AMY  no snow blowing here today. Our maintenance man must be happy he doesn't have to go out with his little sidewalk plow.

LLOYD  seems like when it has been snowing all night and I wake up in the morning everything seems so quiet. When I look out there would be several inches of snow. Seems like it deadens a lot of noise from outside.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is another clear and beautiful day here in South Carolina with an expected high of 71 degrees. The only thing I have to do today is go to Walmart in a few minutes to pick up an online grocery order and get a prescription for Pat.  We might go to Ruby Tuesdays for our main meal today as they have their $5 hamburger and fries offer until 3 pm.  I was pleased this morning to read that the  Clemson University football team had become the National Champions by beating Alabama rather handily last night.  I watched the first half of the game but it had started late and I didn't want to stay up until 11:30 or after to finish the game.

I am running a bit late this morning so will go ahead an post this and then come back after my trip to Walmart.

I'm back from my morning trip out and we have the groceries put away.  This wasn't a large order.

June, it sounds like you have good nurses on duty at your home.  We can rely on our son to help us when we need help.  He was very disappointed yesterday when he learned he had not gotten a job at T-Mobile.  Fortunately he is still employed and I am sure will be looking for other jobs.  Unfortunately his age is a negative factor in the job market.  Glad to see you were up to going down to the dining room for your lunch yesterday. I have been having 4 ounces of red wine each evening but must admit I don't enjoy it.  I usually try to drink it slowly with my evening meal but some nights I just drink it down like one would taking medicine.

Jane, it sounds like your shift ended just in time so you could get home before the roads became a problem.  I was happy to read you were going to give yourself some goofing off time yesterday-you deserve it.

Amy, that sounds like a good preventive of a problem by replacing your battery before it failed and left you stranded someplace.  I am like you in that I have very good hearing.  My wife has lost some of her hearing so most often have to repeat whatever I say to her.

Gloria, it sure isn't pleasant to wake up aching all over.  Glad your snow hasn't impacted your roads.  It has been a long time since I have had a nose bleed.  I have had a nagging sinus headache for several days.  While at the pharmacy I asked the pharmacist what would be safe for me to take and he suggested the generic Flonaze nose spray.  I sure hope it works along with the Mucinex as don't want to go to the doctor if I can avoid it.

Just a quick note to anyone who might be looking for the bone meal tablets with Vitamin D... I found them on Amazon.  After a call to my local Natural food store, I went searching.  She said that they no longer buy from the source that had provided them to her and she gave me the name to go there myself.  I got lost on the way and found them at Amazon.  Just in case anyone is interested.

Now I'm going to have some lunch and then go to the landscaping place and try to buy a large rock!  Are you curious?

I did attend a meeting this morning and have two meetings scheduled for tomorrow, so hope I make them on time. Bible study at 10 a.m. and Red Hatters lunch at noon.

One day at a time, Sweet Jesus. Now it is time to scoot downstairs. Hugs and Love. June

Jane, I bookmarked that link, thanks.  When I first started buying bone meal tablets, they were sold by Richards Labs, catalogs & mail. Their claim was "it was made from cattle shin bones that were raised on natural pastures, no pesticides or fertilizers". They were sold & not sure what company bought it up, but I found Sundown at the Rexall Drugstores that had it & then to Puritan Pride online (& in stores). Never did find out if theirs is produced from the "natural" pastures. I did try just about every calcium & iron on the market when we lived in the KC area & couldn't find my usuals, nothing else worked for me.

Larry, my friend drinks wine every night as well, but she loves it. On the other hand, I do not like red wine at all but love Welch's pure grape juice & drink that a lot. Always wondered if it had the same benefits as the wine. My father's family grew the grapes, made the wine (& vinegar) & I grew up believing "grape" anything was soothing to the stomach. I eat a lot of Welch's grape JAM, the French in me swears by grapes.  ;) I also generally have a big tub of raisins open & grab a handful "just because" when I'm hungry for something.

The sinus/bug/whatever that has been going around here & everywhere seems to take an antibiotic to get rid on... calling it an infection instead of virus because sinuses get infected if not treated. The ones that didn't get meds have a cough hanging on for weeks.

Breaking NEWS!!  I checked the berm today to see if Mother's Surprise Lilies are up .. and they are!  I noticed the trees have that haze over them showing the buds are swelling & those little spikes of the Surprise Lilies are the first out around here. BOY, are they going to be in for a surprise when we really have winter hit.

Lloyd, glad you are connected & about to hit the road.  My brother & wife are flying to FL tomorrow for several months. Their son has a place there & leaves a car in the garage for them to use. They keep inviting me to come on down, but it is a long drive alone, well, these cats can't help drive. I'm interested in the "hot spot" & how you install it. Does it work for the phone as well as computer?  Guess it sort of like the wi-fi in the house (I don't understand at all). Do you have unlimited use?  I have a tracfone (smart one but not a smart operator) & it works anywhere except in the mountains & nothing works in some areas of the mountains. I have thousands of minutes for talk, text & whatever you call the other part, because I kept rolling minutes over every year since we bought the first RV back in 1998. Mine is an iPhone & can shop on it, get weather & everything, if I was smart enough to know how.  :crazy2:

Where we camp in CO there is no signal until we start out toward town, then our phones all come on about the same spot. We found lots of "free" wi-fi at McDonald's & other fast food as well as town Visitor Centers.... I carry a 6 plug extention/surge protector & plug it in under the tables at McDonald's & charge things up. With this RV I just run the generator & we charge everything as well & charge as we drive. I do have the "battery packs" that will charge my phone & Fitbit many times before I need to charge them up again. Things sure changed since we were kids, huh?  Safe trip.

Amy, like you, I listen to the birds wings and can hear very well. Lately I've noticed that I do have to "stop & listen" when loud music in the background plays & people are talking. My favorite radio news early morning has started doing that (younger person filling in)... I think it irritates me more than a real problem hearing. I don't appreciate the music played in the stores, either.... NOT today's music.

Gloria, like you, winter isn't as fun as even a few years ago, BUT, I still have a pang of envy when Amy gets to go play in the snow. It probably wouldn't take me long before the fun would be over. Do you think we are actually growing up...getting old?  Say it isn't so........

June, you do sound better all the time, whatever you are doing, it's working!  I just realized I haven't eaten any supper yet. Got the cats a rotisserie chicken today so took a couple slices from the drumstick as I cut up for them. I've been hungry for grapefruit so got another bag of them.... hope they are good ones. The last I bought were sweet & were not picked too green. I can tell with the first bite, my tongue tells me they taste like tin if picked green. If I eat one I will get little blisters all over my tongue & inside cheeks. Bad.. :o  I will be envying Lloyd & Nancy getting to pick ripe ones in FL (where this bag came from).

Jenny, hope your father is doing bettery. I do remember when my father was not doing anything he was interested in, complaining about his aches & pains was almost "conversation"... he didn't have anything else to talk about. I don't know a cure for this, Dad was not interested in doing anything, but if we found something to get him interested in for even a little while, he would forget the aches & pains. Think it may becoming "habit" with him & he doesn't realize how often he brings it up?  Thoughts & prayers for him & all that care about him.

Got to move these old bones... I was sad today when I finally got to check out an obit in the paper where I was born. All of a sudden this week that newspaper won't let me read the full obits, need to subscribe.... only reason I check obits is I still have cousins living there & none that I do e-mail with anymore. I thought I recognized one lady but since women change names & hard to keep track of married names with so many cousins, I couldn't be sure. Over night I thought about doing a Google search & found the funeral home with her obit.. was the cousin several years younger than I am. I sent the obit to my brother & sister & he called today to confirm. The funeral was yesterday & I do feel bad not going, a long drive but only time we see each other the last 10 years. That is the 2nd death this week of someone I cared about.  We are at "that" age, aren't we?

Sweet dreams, God Bless.... Shirley

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND❣️

Busy day for us.  Bob had his yearly eye exam this morning, then we were off to Costco to order him new glasses.

LARRY, I am sorry to read that Scott did not get the job with T-Mobile.  I am sure he and you both were sad to hear this news.  I hope the generic Flonase helps you with the sinus headache you have been dealing with for days.

JANE, I hope you were able to get all of the Christmas decos put away so the dining room table is available for your guests. Ours all all put away now and the house looks so blah!  I still can not believe our Christmas is over.

GLORIA, I am sorry you woke with terrible aching this morning. Hope it improved as the day progressed.

PHYLLIS, belated Happy Birthday wishes to your David.

AMY, it is always a good idea to buy a new battery before you find yourself stranded.

JUNE, I think the wet cloth over the heat registers is a good way to add humidity in your place.  I remember being so dry when flying on a long plane ride and getting a warm cloth and putting it over my nose and how quickly it gave me relief.  Happy to read the nose bleeds have stopped...

Mark and his family are in Northern California where Mark is interviewing for two jobs.  One is definitely the one that he would love to get as it is working for the PGA and would be something he would really enjoy for a good long time.  He likes his position where he is now, and they both love Paso Robles, but the club he is at is for sale and if it sells the new owner will more than likely bring in their own "head honcho", so he is being proactive and watching out for himself.  If it is meant to be, one of these positions will be offered to him.  Of course they are not looking forward to a move with Baby Jonah, but it will work out if need be.

I saw a picture of Finlay and his dad hunting big game on Face Book.  He has grown up so much and looks so mature, but I did not like to see him with his kill, to be honest.  BTW, it was not a BEAR like we are used to seeing him with in a picture!🤪

SHIRLEY, I do not know how I missed your post, and others, but I sure did not see them before I posted this.  I appreciate your comments about your dad and how he seemed to be obsessed with talking about his aches and pains.  I have to say, I feel this might be the case with my dad as well.  I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.  I am sorry you have lost two friends this past week.  I know you would have gone to the funeral if you could have.  Happy your Mother's Surprise Lilies were peeking out to greet you!

GLORIA de, I certainly hope the foot doctor will be pleased with how your foot is healing.....take care.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenn

Good morning everyone.

Looked out around 11:30 last night and huge fluffy flakes of snow were falling. We didn't get a lot but enough to just use the shovel on it.

We are off to the city this morning, I need to pick up more quilts before the keepers of the quilts go away. With giving out 3 at a time lately my supply is getting down and I need to restock it. Will go to Costco  then head home after lunch. I am thinking DQ but will see what Kyle wants.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning.  I am here just to mark my place.  I woke up early and decided to get up and get started on a few things that I really need to get taken care of.  I feel rested and don't want to sit here too long before I get un-motivated to get busy.  I will try to check back later.

Hope everyone will have a good day.

Good morning every one, 37° so no ice on the roads this morning but the ground looks wet so had more rain overnight.

LARRY  sounds like you are feeling better this morning, that is great. I can imagine how sad your son was not getting the job he tried for. It is horrible that some places look at age before they look for knowledge about jobs. I remember when I had my first cell phone Tmobile and went to their store the workers were all young and the men rushed to help the young pretty girls before getting to me even if I was there first. That was the reason I no longer have Tmobile. I only had a nosebleed once and that was from hitting my nose.

JUNE  glad you felt good enough to go downstairs for your meals yesterday.  Wish they had meals here, maybe I would eat better then.

JANE  after Shirley's talk about bonemeal and the link to her site I went there and they have none now. If I get brave I will try Amazon. Never tried anything on Amazon but my son gave me his Kindle and a gift certificate for Amazon but he is the one who got the books I wanted from there. Yes I am curious, a large rock? No rocks where you live? Lot of rocks of all sized around here.

AMY  where we had our house seemed like the garden grew rocks over the winter months.Every spring we got  a least 1 wheelbarrow full from the area.

SHIRLEY  Welches grape jam is as close to homemade from all I have tried. Even has the smell of the grapes when you open the jar. I made my share of grape jam years ago. What gets me today is how fast some newscasters talk. I can hear them OK but they talk too fast. Even some of the young folks around here I have to ask them to talk slower. I always said when the time comes that I don't like snow I would know I was old. Well I still like looking at it from inside where I am warm but would not like playing in it anymore.  I had my CNA get me 1 pink grapefruit yesterday, love the pink ones. I will peel one and eat it like I would an orange, no sugar either.

GLORIA  de  I have missed posting several days lately and all day felt like something missing.

Just heard on the news that today is the last day for Sears stores to be open. That is sad, those stores have been open longer than we are old. Are there any of us that have not shopped there or from their catalog?

JENNY  after my CNA gave me a good back massage my back felt almost normal again. She has good hands and always gets the spots that are hurting. No problems this morning as did not sleep as long last night. I seldom move in my sleep and 8 hours of sleep let me know it. I did like you several times after flying to San Diego. When I got to my daughter's house I asked for a face cloth and wet it with warm water and just kept inhaling the moisture. WOW hard to believe Finlay is old enough to handle a gun and going hunting with Joe. One of my DIL's nephews went hunting with his Dad and shot a deer. It bothered him so much he never went hunting again.

AMY  wish there was a DQ around here. I would make sure to get my son to take me there.

JOY  nice seeing you here so early.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem already.  I have to go make doggie food pretty soon or we'll have the boinger going off and nothing to feed the doggies.

About my rock,  yes, AMY we do have lots of rocks around here but this one has to be special.  It needs tobe about 2 1/2 around (it doesn't have to be even on the sides) and it has to be flat on both sides.  I'm thinking maybe slate.  I want to put it on top of the stump in my yard to make a display table for some kind of plant.  I want a stone to keep water and such from getting into the stump and rotting it.  Any ideas for what to put on it come Spring would be greatly appreciated.  Color would be nice but I'd settle for some kind of vine that would grow fast and hang down around the stump.

Have to get moving.  Enjoy your day.  Grab it and make it your own in every way!

Jane, I have two stumps side by side from trees I had removed this past summer.  I had the company leave the stumps in hopes that the creeping Euonymus would grow over them and it is doing that.

Sunny this morning but cool and supposed to get cooler on toward the weekend.  The forecast has seemed to back off of the prediction for wintry mix this weekend.  We'll just wait and see what happens and take whatever we get.

David said thank you, Jenny, for the birthday wishes.  Hope your Mark finds the job he wants and his family can make a smooth and trouble-free move if they need to.

I had to pick up a prescription yesterday on a medicine that is not covered by my drug insurance.  After a little looking around I found a coupon on the GoodRx web site that reduced the price from $58.40 to $33.90 and Walgreen's accepted it so I was very pleased.  I'm always happy to save money on medicine....especially if it is one the drug insurance will not cover.

Must get some breakfast.  Later.....

Hi Everyone.  It is another sunny morning but today we will only get to 55 degrees.  Only two things on the schedule for today.  In about 40 minutes my friend will be here to work with me an hour.  Then this evening our Wednesday night dinners start again for the winter.  It is wings, mac and cheese, salad and dessert and this menu seems to be a favorite with the Wednesday night dinner group.  I seem to be running in slow gear this morning.

Shirley, is the big rock something to hide under?  I remember the saying about doing that.  I also like grape juice and grape jam or jelly.  However, I seldom have toast so seldom get the jam or jelly.  IT sounds like you need to get talking on your phone to use up your minutes.  ;D

Lloyd, is this the day you leave for Florida?  It sounds like you are getting all prepared.

Amy, we had lots of rock where we lived in Georgia and I suppose we do here but all I see is sand and clay.

June, it sounds like you have a full day planned for today and hope you feel up to doing what you want to do as know you enjoy your Bible study and the Red Hatters.

Lindancer, I hope the foot doctor has some good news for you today.

Jenny, we are sad because Scott had so hoped to get the job and be able to leave the job at Pizza Hut.  Sorry that Mark is having to hunt for another job but he is wise to search before his current club is sold.

My friend arrived before I had read all of the postings so will add a couple more comments.

Amy, do you keep a supply of quilts to work on?  Is your Costco always busy?  It seems that ours is regardless of the day, sort of like Walmart that always has lots of cars in the parking lot.  Hope you got to go to DQ.  Do you like the Blizzards?  My favorite is the Heath one and that has been the case for years and years.  When Pat and I were dating we would often go to the DQ after classes as I had time to kill before my mother would get off work.  We could get a nice size ice cream cone for $0.50 each and that was usually all the money I had.

Gloria, I also find it hard to understand why Scott would not make a super employee.  He has a long background as a good worker having spent 17 years working with Scientific Atlanta in various positions and other experiences.  He had special schooling in computers and then has had 10 years of working with Pizza Hut.  I can't remember the last time I had a nose bleed. I have always preferred jam to jelly.  I think broadcasters must have been taught in school to speak as fast as they can.  It has been years since I have been able to eat a grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice due to some of the medicine I take.  I always liked them.  I am also sorry to learn of Sears closing all of their stores but shopping habits change.

Jane, I see I didn't do a good job of guessing why you wanted the rock.

Phyllis, your weather may be like ours in that they think it is going to be one way in the coming days but that seems to change almost daily.  I have used the GoodRX website to check where I could get the best price on medicines.  It sure shows you have different drug stores have different prices for the same drug.  That was a significant savings.

Lloyd, enjoy your travels today.

Got to get moving, day half gone & youngest son is stopping by when he gets off work, to pick up something his sister left for him here. I plan to fix the "minute" steaks I sliced from an eye of the round I bought... ran each slice through the tenderizer 3 times & will brown & let cook in the cast iron dutch oven for several hours, absolutely melts in your mouth like cotton candy. He is usually in a hurry to get home to work out after sitting all day in his office, but "significant other" won't be home, he can work out later? Anyway, will have mashed potatoes to put under the steak & gravy if he wants. I try to keep little Ziploc tubs of the meat & gravy in the freezer so I can pull out & have with instant potatoes or even a microwaved baked potato. I do love to eat.

Jane, if case you've never played with Quikrete, you can get a 50 lb bag at Lowe's for under $4. I use it to patch dry holes in the brick around here, take a cake pan & line with foil & make food dishes for critters outside (just play with it now & then while it hardens, to keep the sides from mushing down into the bottom), bet it would make the rock you are wanting to put on the tree stump.  I have also bought the stepping stones cheap at any of the places (Mennards, etc) to use for various reasons. When I'm playing with the Quikrete I just mix in a throw away coffee can or stryo cup, add water & mix with a kitchen tool I never used after buying.... & use my hands to shape, they are washable! Good luck.

Going to get out the stretchy hose & water little trees & then plan to spray the slides on the RV before I close it in. Chance of rain/snow mix on Friday but today is the pick of weather for the job. I also need to organize this table again, took off the Christmas stuff & 4 leaves tucked away inside only a few days ago but piled high with what I've been working on.

I am back to say Good Evening.

I had a productive day.  Got a lot of little things taken care of that I was hoping to get done today.  Finished putting all the Christmas things away.   Sorted through a whole bunch od gift bags and separated the Christmas ones from the ones for other occasions and got them stored in a neat place.

Sandy, I did mention over in Norm's page that I have 2 of those sock helper things.  Really work well.

Larry, I, too, am sorry that Scott didn't get the job he was applying for.  Maybe something better is waiting for him.
Your dinner tonight at your church sounds so good.  I just might fix some macaroni and cheese for my dinner.

Jane, your idea of making a special place to cover the opening in the stump sounds like a real good idea.  I am sure you will have it looking very pretty by the summertime.  I think I would like some kind of a vine trailing over it and maybe a pretty plant in a pot in the center.  On the website, Pinterest, I have seen where people turn a stump like that into a miniature fairy house and garden.  Really some cute ideas.

Lloyd, I sure hope you will have a good trip to FLorida.  Lucky you, getting to go someplace nice and warm and sunny.

Our weatherman is calling for some (maybe) significant snow for the week end.  Depends on which way it comes as to how much snow we will get.  Hopefully, not too much.

Shirley, hope you didn't have any problems getting the slide-out back into the RV.  I don't think you ever sit still, do you? I really envy all that you do in a day. I know you and I are the same age, and you can run circles around me.

Time to look for some dinner.  I am thinking of making the macaroni and cheese that Larry mentioned.

Gloria, I hope you were feeling better this morning and have had a good day.  Nice that you can get a good back massage from your CNA.  I am sure it feels good.

Hope everyone will have a nice quiet evening.

Joy

Good evening

The trip turned out better than I thought. At first I thought awe may end up turning around and come back home but the snow stopped.

Larry,Costco is always busy but we got there right at opening time. I was lucky enough to stock up on my vitamins with discounted prices. We didn,t get to DQ ,maybe nest time.. yes I enjoy the Blizzards to.
The quilts are ones to be delivered when we get a request for them.

Jane, what about patio stones to sit on top of the stump?

Going to put my feet up and watch some tv.

Good morning everyone. Cold and windy here with possible snow flurries. This damp weather is doing a number on me this winter. Even my meds and back massage is not helping much. All I want to do is lay on the couch and watch TV. Yesterday I did some cooking before my CNA got here and boy did she scold me. Today I know I can no longer stand at the stove long enough to do anything.

I read  the posts from when I posted yesterday but cannot sit here any longer. Just letting you know I am still alive and kicking.  Have a good day.

Good morning, Amy and Gloria.  Nice to see you both here this morning.

Gloria, It is so cold here, also. And, I think I heard that the approaching snow storm coming this week end will affect your area and probably come as far south as DC.  I am glad I have no where to go this week end.

I talked to my grandson last night and he is planning on bringing the children down on Sunday, weather permitting.  I am anxious to see them, as I still have their Christmas presents.

I woke up about 4:30 feeling so cold, so got up and pushed the thermostat up and went back to sleep. Woke up again a little before 7.  I did get up and am got on the computer to check and to let you know that, like Gloria, I am still alive and kicking.  I did have a cup of coffee, but now need to go get something to eat.

I got a lot of more de-cluttering done yesterday and will work on some more today.  While I am feeling so energetic, I better take advantage of it.

I will check back later in the day.

Have a good Thursday.

Hi Everyone. It is a sunny and chilly morning here in South Carolina and isn't suppose to get above 50 degrees today. I just called my friend and told him I wouldn't be going to coffee this morning as just don't have the energy.  We did go to the dinner at the Church last evening but it wasn't memorable other than I sat next to a man who is new to our Church and I had never seen before. We had a nice visit.  I had texted Scott yesterday afternoon to ask him to meet us at the door where we enter the Church and then take and park the car, which he did and I really appreciated it.  He then came out and spent a couple of hours with us.  Ruby Tuesdays has a buy one get one free meal today.  We might go to that if I can get up enough energy by mid-afternoon.

Shirley, I don't remember the last time Pat use a meat hammer to help tenderize a piece of meat.  My mother used to do that a lot.  In Missouri a lot of menus when you ate out had Tenderloin sandwiches.  That is something we just don't see here in the South.  Aren't those stretchy garden hoses great?  I love that they are so light weight.

Joy, that is what I have told Scott that if he didn't get the job it wasn't met to be and perhaps something better is on the horizon.  Both the chicken wings and the mac and cheese had sit in the oven too long and were very dry.  However, the salad and dessert were very good.  The husband and wife cook team had gotten a call that their son had been in an accident yesterday afternoon and were on their way to Atlanta when the meal was served.

Amy, glad you were able complete your trip yesterday even if you didn't get to DQ.  I had thought you had to work on the quilts you were picking up but it sounds like they are ready to be handed out.

Gloria, sometimes what we want to do and what physically we can do are two things as you found with cooking yesterday.

Joy, nice to ready you are feeling energetic.  I hope you get to see your great grandchildren on Sunday and your grandson.

Good morning everyone..
At least it is still morning.  We cancelled the chimney cleaning today....too cold and too windy to be up on the roof. We will be going to a family dinner on Sat and I have to bring bean salad , bread and buns so nipped into town to pick up extra milk.I whipped up a rice pudding and it is on the back of the cookstove cooking slowly.

Almost lunch time, I think a toasted tomato sandwich and salad with be it. Picked up honey garlic sausages ,baby potatoes and green beans for dinner tonight.

Larry, I do make them and hand out the finish product.

Joy, it is so cold here and the wind doesn't help either!

Ok Jane you playing hide and go seek? Hope your computer is ok.

Better go make lunch.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning!  I wrote a short note this morning and I don't see it.  I must have forgotten to press post and now it's gone.  I don't remember what I said but we've had such a nice visit with daughter Christy and granddaughter Frankie.  They've gone to their appointment now and won't be back until late afternoon.  I have to zip in to the hardware store to pick up my drawer "undroopes" so I can get the stuff back into the drawers.

I have spaghetti sauce cooking because that's what they said they craved for supper.  I might pick up a ready made salad for us to share and that's going to be IT!

I'm off! Hope you all are enjoying your day as much as I am!

Good evening, we are alsohaving a cold day, snow is supposed to stay south of LOng Island. Has been very wind for the past 2 days and continue in to to morrow.  I have to go to Homemakers, as the next two weeks my friend that take me, will be having a surgical procedure and cannot drive. I am also going by the senior center and set up for rides to my appointments.
Well my age has really come to hunt me.  Diana arrived at 11:30 this AM, I ask what she doing here, he said it was her day to clean and I told her she was wrong. So she swept the kitchen and straighten up a few things and left. If either one of us had taken the time to look at the calendar she would have seen indeed he was to clean my house. She is a young one to me only 71. I have a lot of apologizing to do

Sandy when I was in rehab a few years ago they gave me one of those sock gadgets, one of those long shelf pickers, also a porter potty . Also a wheelchair, which was not free I found out when I started to get a rental fee. I sent that back.

Gloria, hope you feel better. someone brought and already pealed acorn squash.  Never cooked one before, so I coked in for 15min in the microwave mashed it butter and a spoonful of marmalade did not taste that bad.

Larry, just take care of yourself. I so enjoy reading your post and about that lovely church you belong too,

Jane hope you only have happy people in line, next time.  I generally go in line to the checkers that are friendly

Stop and Shop has bought all the King Kullen supermarkets, and a firm from Germany has bought Best Yet, that is our vegetable and small grocery store

I have my desktop back again and it is so nice to have readable  print. Not have a good day health-wise...very tired, sleeping most of the day away. I ordered supper sent up so that takes care of that. My Gary and Dori arrived home yesterday from their 9 day vacation with their kids and Grand kids in Idaho. They had a wonderful time of course. So they brought back my computer...it needed a mother board.....whatever that is. I'm still not feeling too sturdy, so will close for now...God Bless you all with GOOD health. June

Good evening Everyone
from the freezing cold and windy rocky coast
of Maine.   Wind chill is going to get
us tonight..

I got my Chromebook touch screen  computer
today and after fiddling with it for about
six hours,  I have made arrangements to
ship it back.

I don't like it..
Too much work for me to learn a
new operating system...

I spent a lot of time today working
on it,  and found it wasn't worth
the effort that I must  put into it
to work for  me.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Good night all!!!!

June... glad you have your
computer back.

Good Night

The past week has proved to be an interesting time. We are facing an iminent flu threat and as such a restriction on visitors is in place and I've been on a 5-day quarantine even though I don't have the flu, although I do have a heavy cold. It may seem extreme but I am pleased with the precautions. The downside is that all activities have been suspended; thank goodness for our computer.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I missed my kids before they left the driveway.  I always enjoy their visits and we talk and laugh and enjoy being together.  However, after they were gone for about a half hour and everything was put away and I was in my jammies, I was exhausted!  I sometimes can't believe how tire certain activities make me.  I still want them back and when they come, I never think about being tired.  I just enjoy.

Their reason for coming was not resolved and when I said I was sorry that they made the trip for nothing.  Christy said, "It wasn't for nothing.  We had a nice visit with you"  And she's right...a visit is never wasted time.

I'll be off to Wally World this morning at 10 and I have no other plans.  We made enough spaghetti sauce yesterday to have for supper.  That's what they both wanted.  They took some meatballs and a jar of sauce home and I have enough for my supper today.  Tomorrow, I'll start the sauce for canning.  This is the first time in about 25 years that I haven't had a jar of my home canned spaghetti sauce in reserve.

SANDY, I don't know how cold it is in Maine but when I looked at the temp here when I got up it was 21º and while I was looking it dropped to 20.  That's COLD!  It can get into the teens here but I don't need to like it.  I just checked and the "feels like" temp is 10.  The dogs didn't stay out very long and I think the furnace is working overtime.

It's almost time for the boinger and that means the doggies will soon be getting restless for their breakfast.

Also, I have to make another trip to the hardware store because the supports for the drawer runner don't fit my runners.  I'll have to put up with the mess and inconvenience a bit longer.

I hope you all have a lovely day today.  Make it your own in every way!

Good brr morning everyone. With the wind chill it is down almost to the single digits. Glad I do not have to go out. Just thinking how I used to go out every day to go to work when it was way down in the single digits with no wind and thought nothing of it. What a difference now, I just want to stay inside where it is warm. Can it be an old age thing? No, of course not, I am not old...am I?  ???

JOY  I am enjoying my second cup of coffee. I turned the heat up as soon as I got out of bed this morning. This is a day to get Joan's Geemagotchees on and the warm wool socks and sheepskin lined boots. These wood floors are cold. I have been going through the papers and magazines that add up and the last 2 days my CNA took out 2 big trash bags out to the dumpster and I have a lot of shredding to do.

LARRY  I should know better by now, every time I try cooking something it just wears me out big time. Just cannot stand for more than 5 minutes anymore.

AMY  we have the wind here and it is coming from the north-northwest. Did you send it here? Had snow flurries yesterday. On TV this morning they were showing the Patriots football team out on the field for practice and it was snowing like a blizzard. I sure will not go out with the temperatures we are having.

GLORIA  de  only way I have cooked an Acorn squash is stuff it and bake it in the oven. Cut is half-my son has to cut it for me, cut up a couple of those precooked little sausages an apple and some cut up walnuts, a bit of brown sugar and butter and bake. So good.

JUNE  glad you have your computer back, we sure miss it when it needs work.

DON  a cold is bad enough. Like you I am thankful I have a computer to keep me busy at times. Take care and hope you escape the flu.

LLOYD  glad you stop early from a day of driving. Enjoy your trip, wish I was going to a warmer climate about now.

JANE  like you when my daughter and family came for a visit I loved it and missed them when they left the driveway, Then I missed them big time but was also tired.

Have a good day everyone.

Don, I heard on the news where the flu is about ,not nice to have and I hope you stay flu free.

Gloria, we still have a bit of wind here and when I checked the weather we are not to have any snow till Tue. Sure hope they are right on that.

Jane,  a few more days with droopy drawers isn't nice hope you get the right part today.

I need to get at the bread making.....will check in later.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hi Everyone. It is another sunny but chilly morning here and we are only going to get up into the low 50's this afternoon.  After a couple extreme exhaustion days I am feeling more alive this morning.  I have fixed Pat's breakfast and emptied the dish washer.  I plan on taking the rest of the morning quietly.  Our house keeper will be here in about 25 minutes.  Since I am feeling like getting out today we plan on going out to eat our main meal at Honey from the Rock and then stopping at the shoe store as I need a new pair of shoes and I want ones that I don't have to tie.  That will be plenty for today.

Amy, you were wise to not ask someone to get on your roof to clean your chimney.

Jane, special times when our children and grandchildren come to visit.  I see you didn't get your kitchen drawers fixed yesterday. We often use those ready made salads and Walmart has some pretty good ones.  We love having our family come to visit but I know I am always relieved when they leave.  That was a nice thing that Christy said to you about not being a wasted trip.

Lindancer, I expect the lady who cleans your house will understand.  I was delighted this morning when I woke up felt like getting up.  I didn't even feel up to working my computer jigsaw puzzle yesterday and just laid back in my chair after I got up from resting and listened to some music and then watched TV.

June, it seems you have been without your desktop for quite awhile but glad to see you are back in business with it.  The motherboard is what makes all of the parts of the computer work together.  I have only had one computer that I had a failed motherboard.  I hope you are feeling better today.

Don, some of our hospitals around here are restricting visitors due to the flu threat.  I hope your cold doesn't hold on too long.  Do they bring you your meals in your apartment?

Lloyd, nice to see you are now on your journal to warmer weather.

Gloria, people have told me that feeling old is just a state of mind.  Like you my state of mind often tells me I am getting old although my mind doesn't feel old usually.  We just don't want to admit we are no longer up to doing things we have done all of our lives.  Are the Patriots playing on their own field this weekend?

Good morning from a cold and snowy Mile High City.  Our snow started about 2:30 AM and has not let up yet, so it is really accumulating.  One DIL is stuck in Indianapolis, her flight is delayed and no updates on when it might leave.  After she is gone all week this delay is a big disappointment, but nothing anyone can do about it.

JANE, the visits with our family are so special and I know well that sad feeling one gets as they drive off.  I hope they arrived home safely and how nice they will have your spaghetti sauce to have another special meal....as will you.  I bet it was really yummy!  Sorry the parts for your kitchen drawers did not work out.  Sometimes the easiest repairs end up being the most difficult.

GLORIA de, I did have to chuckle at you not realizing it is the correct day for your housekeeper to be there.  The holidays have many of us confused about dates!

LARRY, glad you are feeling better today.  I am happy you try to take good care of yourself when you have that exhausted feeling.  Nothing is that important that you can not take a day or two off to rest up.

YIPPEE, LLOYD,  Nice to see you and Nancy did hit the road and are progressing on your way to sunny Florida.

Mark's interviews both went very well.  He expects to be offered one of the jobs for sure, but sadly, he will not be able to accept it as the club is just not able to offer the needed things like medical insurance.  He liked the little club, but it just will not pay a living salary for his little family.  The second job is still in the running, but they too are having financial issues, and are not able to move forward at this time.  He said he got a lot out of both interviews and knows that he did well.  He has learned that you just have to be patient and when the timing it right, the offer will come.  Jonah did wonderful on his first car trip.  Yesterday he went to the pediatrician and he weighed in at 11# 13oz.  He is really growing!

DON, I am sorry to read that you have a cold.  I think your facility is wise to limit visitors and time together in groups.  Hopefully this will keep the flu bug at bay.  Feel better soon.

AMY, I think I can smell your bread baking......oh how I wish I really could.

GLORIA, I do like the sound of how you make your Acorn squash. Your weather is like ours today.....a good day to stay in for sure.  I hope the weather improves or it is going to be a mighty cold day for playing football in Foxboro!  The fair weather Chargers are not used to the cold, so I know they will not like it!

I have a few chores I hope to accomplish today, so I had best get started.

I hope you ALL have a Good Friday.

Jenn

The last of the bread is raising. Have two batches done into buns and this one will be put into loaves. As it was such a nice day out I did the bedding and hung it on the line.T emp was -4° F when I hung it out and had to be quick before it froze before I got the sheets on the line....I won!!! ;D

Jenny, any word on your Dad? Mark, just has to be patient and the right one will come along.

Larry, good to read you have a bounce in your step today.

Better go see how the bread is doing..bbl.

I've been home and trying to find more places to check for drawer supports.  No one seems to have the right size.  We have a place nearby that people can go to get cabinets to make over their kitchens and bathrooms and I'm thinking this guy might have done that.  So tomorrow morning I'm going to call them and ask some pertinent questions.  If they have what I need. I'll be going up there tomorrow.  I'm really getting tired of the disruption.

JENNY, you are right.  Sometimes the job you think will be simple is the one that runs you ragged.

I'm being berated from behind and from under the desk for not doing doggie dinners so I guess I better get moving.  They'll think I don't care.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

I am in to tell you I am still here. Have had a couple of weird days. Havent left the apt. for two days, and today I spent almost all day sleeping. My cleaning lady was here, I got up so she could do clean linens, then right back to sleep. She came back later to do the deep cleaing and I slept through it all. I remember hearing and feeling her vacuum hit the bed, but never did wake up. She must have thought I was dead. I had breakfast  at noon. Now it is time to have a light supper... cottage cheese and fruit. and back to bed. I wonder if I will be up all night ? Interesting life.

Lloyd, I did a quick Google of Atlanta to Tampa & looks like you are about half way, better count on another night on the road or you will be worn out when you get there.  Do you have reservations for a camp site?  Take care, I remember that as a very long drive, seemed like we would never get there.

We are supposed to get snow tonight but so far only a misty rain all day.  We need the moisture. I did not get out today to find me a new snow shovel so hope I'm not dancing Amy's waltz with that heavy fiberglass shovel. My daughter in St.Louis says they are getting pounded.  I did unplug the RV today, so the cord from the garage doesn't get ruined if my shovel catches it. I have a big hook inside the garage to hang the cord, heavy dude.

Had one of those days of nothing for sure getting accomplished. Worked with Cox on the nomorobo set up.... but we couldn't get ME as primary user, had to go in with my husband's name & SS number. Isn't this crazy?  After thinking it was all taken care of I went to the e-mail box to "confirm" & it said, "this phone number is NOT secured"... back to square one & then I got a series of single phone rings & would pick up but phone dead. I called my son & daughter & found she had been trying to call me!  So my phone thinks SHE is a robo call. Can't win! Will deal with it tomorrow. :knuppel2:  :tickedoff:

Jane, any way to take those parts to the place to size match? When the latches on the drawers in the RV broke my son ordered on Amazon, I was sure they wouldn't work but they did. I'm wondering if he gave me the link & I ordered.... will check it out.  Never know, we found just about everything in this house was NOT standard!

I am so sleepy tonight. I'm hoping my "kids" are getting some sleep now since they are up before 4:00am to get everyone to the airport. The ones with kids are taking Mom & kids first (car seats are a big deal) & then going home to have Uber pick him up and Andy & Pam, since they are on the way.  Hope planes aren't delayed, a sleepy 4 & 2 year old wouldn't enjoy hanging around an airport very long.... difficult enough to keep them entertained on the flight.

I can't find my appointment card for eye exam... sometime in January.  :-[  I didn't put it in the cabinet with all appointment cards, kept it in my billfold because I needed to call the office about extra glasses I was having made. I'm sure it is tucked away in some purse, looked in the ones I'm using now & not there. They always call the day or two before but with my phone messed up... that could be a problelm.  :-\  I'll think about it tomorrow.

Don, I recall reading this morning that you have a cold & everything shut down where you are. Good luck with not sharing germs!

Sandy, sorry the computer didn't work out.  The one I got last summer when in Salida, CO has a touch screen but I never used it until today when I "spread it apart" to make something larger. I am not good with changes or learning anything new. I use it with a mouse like every one since the first.

Gloria,  :snowman:  :surrender:  :snowball: I'm admitting age is ruling this year. Get uneasy at the idea of cleaning off the driveway. I'll worry about it tomorrow............

Not you, too, June.... got your days & nights mixed up! Might need to have them check to see if something is building up in your system. Have you lost weight?  They take such good care of you there I am sure if they know what is going on they will figure it out.

Going to take these bones to bed.  Sweet dreams & God Bless.  Shirley

I'm going to go off to bed early, too.  If I have to drive up to that place for the drawer stuff, I need to be rested.  I asked Cathy if she might be available to take me and she said not until after 2:30.  When I was looking up their phone number to call and ask first, I checked their hours and they close at noon.  So if they have them, I guess I'll take myself. I forget who it was who asked if I could take something along for size.  I've been doing that. Just can't find the right size.

I have all the stuff out for the spaghetti sauce and I'm going to have that mixed before I can even call them.

Good Night my friends.  Sleep peacefully, wake refreshed!  And may od bless us, every one!

Cold but no new snow to deal with today.

We are off to have Christmas with the kids. Made a batch of hot mustard to take along too.

Lloyd, you and my son might have passed each other..he is coming back from TX and was in Arkansas yesterday when I  talked with him.

June, your body must have needed the rest or you wouldn't sleep.

Jane, can you get new complete  hard ware for your drawer and see if that works?

Shirley, don't forget it you do have that waltz ,you have to lead :)

Better get going here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and attem since about 6:15.  The doggies have had their pill and their breakfast and I have the spaghetti sauce cooking.  Still have some stuff to add but I'll have it all together and cooking before the cabinet place opens at 9.

Lloyd, I sure do envy you your trip to warmer climates.  It's 17º here right now and it's not going to get much warmer today. I'm craving Spring!

AMY, don't forget my hug for the birthday girl.  I noticed you said Christmas but I thought you said you were celebrating Julie's birthday.  Whatever it is, give them each a hug.  And ask David if he waved at Cindy as he went though Dallas.

I have a restless doggie and I'm not sure what she wants but I think it might have something to do with the fact that the "dash-blasted" squirrel is back.  I saw him running along my back fence and across the electric wires.  One can only hope that he electrocutes himelf before his has time to destroy my roof.

Gotta go see to Mickie and stir the sauce.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

Good morning. I am here in body, but not spirit.

Yesterday was a kind of lost day.  I didn't even get here at all.  I didn't go back to read everything, but did see where Lloyd is on his way to Florida.  Sure hope we were having some warm weather. They are predicting snow later today and going into tomorrow.  The southern part of the state will probably get more that my area, but they are still calling for 3 to 5 inches.  The grocery stores, I am sure, are just mobbed this morning.  They just have to get that toilet paper and milk.

I am all set with food. I did get a grocery order yesterday, so I am good.

Jane,  do hope you will be able to get the parts you need today. I know how frustrating that can be, but hopefully, this new place you will go to will have the part you need.

I have not plans for today.  Since I didn't have a real good night, I am sure a nap will find it's way later today.

I just wanted to say Hello, and to let you know that I am ok.

Hope everyone will have a nice day.

Joy

Hi Everyone. After 4 or 5 sunny and fairly warm days we are going to have cloudy skies and cooler weather today.  We do go out to lunch at Honey from the Rock and it was very good as usual and very busy yesterday.  From there we went to the shoe store where Pat is getting her shoes and you sit down and someone waits on you.  I found the shoes I wanted, which are slip ons.  These are the most expensive shoes I have ever purchased but I expect then to last for several years and they were comfortable out of the box.  The only thing I plan to do today is go to my meeting in a few minutes and then after resting this afternoon I will watch some basketball and pro football this afternoon.

Jane, I hope the person you call this morning can help you out with the cabinet supports.

Lloyd, as Shirley indicated it is still a long drive from Atlanta to Tampa.  We made that trip many times and, if I remember correctly it took us about 5 hours to get to the Florida border and then another three hours or so to get to St. Pete.

June, I hope today finds you with a little more energy and that you don't have to sleep all day.

Shirley, I hope you don't have much snow to shovel.  Pat's sister in Independence, Missouri, said they were also getting pounded and I think it was to continue today for a least awhile.

Amy, enjoy your belated Christmas celebration with you kids.  Pat's sister said they won't be doing their last Christmas get together until sometime near the end of the month.

I just had a text from Andy in Dallas, on the plane now for Disney. Kids doing okay, expect they will crash & be carried part of the day. Mom & Dad played it smart, sat in a different row & let 4 gr-parents entertain the kids.  ;) Yesterday the 4 girls (gr-mothers, mother & 4 year old) went for pedicures together. Hope that 4 year old doesn't start thinking this is everyday life!  ::)

Joy, I didn't get a lot of sleep, either, but we also didn't get any snow so I'm off the hook for waltzing with Amy. Betcha I get a nap. I've had breakfast once but hungry again. Have a big carton of egg beaters so put a hand full of the bacon crumbles in the skillet, blotted off the extra grease & poured equivalent of couple eggs on top, after I flipped I salted, added a layer of shredded cheese & covered with Sam's Club fresh salsa... slice of white & slice of oatnut breads. Think I will settle for a toaster pop now, with a cup of coffee.

Good idea taking the whole drawer, Jane. I've noticed when given a challenge they can see sometimes they come up with a unique fix. Had the guys that worked on the RV do that, should have sent pics to the manufacturer to show what a better design they had to solve problems like the pantry slide out whamming the wall on the other side at every turn... and sliding doors to the bedroom doing the same from the other side. No problems anymore & the guys were proud of their inventions. Good luck.

Lloyd, sure as you don't make the bed someone will stick their head in & see the mess... Nice of you to fix breakfast. I enjoy cooking out... when in CO I use propane but in MO I use electric skillet... unless I want to bake biscuits & then have to use propane oven. Those frozen Grands biscuits are really good, take out what you want & put in oven. Lots better than the canned ones. I make my own gravy but Andy likes to make the sausage gravy mix. He enjoys cooking, too. My other son likes to do the grilling out, so we share the work. The boys got together on the phone & made reservations for CO trip the last part of June. Youngest son's daughter is getting married early June so had to work around that. My daughter & I are meeting at Crater of Diamonds in March. She isn't a camper so will stay in a hotel/motel & have her car so we can dig for diamonds during the day & go back to my RV to eat or we will go out to eat. I'm sure she will have breakfast with me... that is what she enjoys about camping, but she likes her own bedroom & bath.

Larry, one thing I do spend without any pangs, is to keep my feet comfy. When feet hurt the whole body is miserable. I put out a plea for shoe horns a year or so ago, couldn't find any locally (even Walmart). My daughter came up with one, then when I bought some ECCO sandels, the sales lady put a long shoe horn in the box & naturally, after that I found one of the missing ones around the house. Cas used them all the time, had one everywhere I looked..until I wanted one.

Oops, Callie cat just rolled off the back of the couch. I put a throw on it & she thinks just for her. She got back up & snoring already. Poor cat, have no idea how old she is but she was outside until she moved in with me. She was satisfied staying in the garage with her heated bed the first couple years, but now appreciates being warm. I notice she shakes her legs when out in the cold even a short while.

No snow at all, not even raining but is cloudy & wind blowing. Yucky winter day. I'm off to pester Cox about my phone declaring all call as robos...  ::)  :smiley6600:  :tickedoff:

Cold and cloudy here, too, but we aren't supposed to get snow.....just rain.  Just a little way to the north of us, near the Virginia border, they will get snow.  Looks like we may have lucked out this time.  But it will be rainy and dreary and the temps. tomorrow aren't supposed to get out of the 30's.  I'm not going anywhere.  I have a Louise Penny book to finish before it is due back so I'll be doing that.

We had spaghetti and meatballs last night and really enjoyed it.  I used ready-made pasta sauce because when I went to the pantry to get some canned tomatoes and tomato sauce I discovered I was out of them.  Hardly ever let the pantry run out but I messed up this time.  The Bertolli sauce was good, anyway.

Sorry the Asus computer didn't work out for you, Sandy.  The darned things are not easy to set up the way we want them.....takes a long time and a lot of sighing and a few choice words for me to get it the way I want it.

David is blowing the last of the leaves before the town picks them up on Monday....I hope....and before the rain starts this evening.  He'll be cold when he comes in so I think I'll heat up some Beef Merlot that was leftover to help warm him up.

Well, I hit another dead end.  I must say, two guys really tried.  They went through bins of stuff that might have contained something I could use and gave me some ideas that I couldn't use because mostly, I didn't understand.  But the last guy that looked at the drawer did give me a good idea.  He called my attention to the fact that the drawer had been made by Quaker Maid and suggested that I contact them.

I came home, fed the doggies, got warmed up and the looked up Quaker Maid on line.  Having found a web site with a "How can we help you" page.  I entered all my information and then gave them the numbers off the bottom of the drawer.  I actually saw a set up that looked like mine but it said you have to buy it complete.  I could do that and just use what I need.  Keep your fingers crossed!  I'm thinking I probably won't hear from them until Monday but let's hope the news is good!

Now for the spaghetti sauce....

Phyllis, you could have had some of my leftover sauce from when my daughter was here.  There's probably enough for two of you!

7 inches of snow in Denver last night - I sure do not miss that slippery north facing driveway.  Rain is forecast for Tucson here tonight - there is snow on Mount Lemmon.

Amy:  Do you have a dryer or a clothesline indoors?  I remember having to hang everything outdoors - it was awful outdoors in Minnesota winters and really nice in Colorado chilly weather.

Phone is working without a call to Cox, guess it had to sleep on it.  Had a call from my daughter & also from Andy, only now my cell phone rings at the same time. Most of the time the cell won't be on but handy for Andy to include me in the texts he sends others. He did promise some e-mail photos since I still can't get them from my iPhone to the computer. I've tried.... do not understand how, so will share when we get one I can resize. Cute one when the 2 year old gave up & went to sleep on the plane snuggling his stuffed animal.

NO SNOW! I took a photo out the door at "Winter Is Here" scene... cover over pool & looks like dusk all day. Good sleeping weather. Andy called & said it was "pushing 80° where they are.

Lloyd, sounds like you made good time. Glad you stopped for the night it will make tomorrow a much better day. My daughter said their snow is heavy, hard to move. Bet Bob wishes he was in a rig like yours & parked right beside you. Those guys fixing power lines work in the worst weather.

One cannerful of spaghetti sauce cooling on the counter.  I'll take the jars out before I go to bed and when I get home from church tomorrow, the second cannerful will get going.  Then I'll take some time off.

I hope everyone who is in the storm's path is safe.  Please don't take any chances.  We need all our friends to be safe.

If we get the snow we're supposed to get, I might not get to church in the morning.  We shall see!  I won't drive unless the roads are clear.

I'm going out and put the car under cover.  Don't you wish we were all with Lloyd and Nancy?

Thank you, Bubble. I thought that gave MY login & didn't work for others. My Andy had brown hair with a tinge of red early, but turned black & very curly as he got older... but same type personality. That's why I enjoy your grand so much, looks like my son.

Happy hunting, Lloyd... hope you find a nice campground. We looked for state parks & National Parks (they are probably closed right now) along the water edge & found some but many years ago. I just looked at radar & a big blob of snow right over your part of MO. Hope Bob has enough free time to feed the cattle or even find the rolls of hay!

Good morning everyone..
-18 F this morning with only stars poking holes in the dark sky.

We had a great time yesterday..food a plenty for the last of the Christmas fun.I am not fond of night driving, so we left before dessert and headed home.

Today is a day of rest. Just maybe I will get to say hello to my sewing machine for a while :)

Jane. we were to meet up with Julie but weather conditions on that day were not nice so we are meeting tomorrow and I will definitely give her a hug from you!! Hope you can find a fix for your drawers soon. Do you have a Home Depot there? Maybe if you took your drawer to them they would figure out something that would work??

Shirley, what a great photo!!! You gr-grandson looks to be having a fantastic time with grandpa! Wouldn't you just love to be there with them and watch the fun they will have. Ahh.I stand corrected Shirley, you wouldn't watch ,you would be right in the thick of it having fun too!

Carol, I do have a dryer but if I can hang the clothes out I prefer to do that. Crawling into bed with line dried bedding is so nice.

Phyliss, between you and Jane with your spaghetti and meat balls you both are making me hungry for a feed of them.

Hope those in the path of the snow delivery do without!!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Lloyd, good morning to you and Nancy!!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We did get some snow overnight and I've opted not to drive on unplowed roads.  I'm sure God will understand.  I think the township knows this street is mostly old folks and it's their way of keeping us off the roads in bad waeather.  They just don't plow here until they're finished everywhere else.

I have the second batch of sauce and jars cooking and I need to go get dressed and get that job done.  I hope you all have a great day.  Watch the snow from your windows like I'm doing.

AMY, the place I went yesterday was an outlet for a cabinet maker.  If they couldn't find anything that fit, I don't think Home Depot would have it either. I've already been to Lowe's.  I did hit the Quaker Maid site and left them all the information that was printed on the drawers they made.  On their website, I saw the slides that look exactly like mine but you have to buy the whole thing.  If that's my only option, that's what I'll do.  Nothing says I have to use all of it when it gets here.  I can pick and choose.

Now I have to go get dressed and get this day going.  Enjoy yours!

Good morning everyone, another cold day here 15° feels like 4° with the wind. Glad I am not a football fan and going to the game today.

LARRY  don't know why I thought they were playing a Florida team when it is a California team the Pats are playing. Oh well they are both southern teams at least.

JANE  I hope that Quaker Maid can help with those drawers.  Would be costly to have to replace everything in your kitchen.

CAROL  I remember hanging clothes out in winter, they would freeze to the line before I could get a clothespin there then where they were on the line I had to pry them off and dry those parts in the house later.

LLOYD  glad you are away from all that snow and can enjoy warmer climate. You and Nancy deserve it with all the work you do every day.

SHIRLEY  winter is here too. No snow but way too cold for me. Your grandson is adorable and looks like he is enjoying the ride.

BUBBLE  thank you for the link.

AMY  seems as we age we have trouble driving at night, I know I sure did and my family all say they are having problems with it now except for my grands. Nothing beats the smell of line dried sheets, cannot  get that from a dryer.

JANE  these days I watch the snow from my windows like you. Gone are the days when I just had to go for a walk in it. Even going down and sitting on the porch and feeling the snow is out, too.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. We are to have a cloudy and chilly day today.  I don't plan on getting out today as just not up to attending Church this morning.  Yesterday was really a down down.  I did attend my Saturday meeting yesterday but realized when I got there I should have stayed home.  I did watch several basketball games and also watched the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cleveland Colts.  They were playing in Kansas City and my SIL said they had had 11 inches of snow and it was still snowing during the game although that had little impact on the game.

Amy, driving a big rig through a snow storm must be a very stressful thing for truck drivers.  I hope you can have a day of rest today.  Your sewing machine may be feeling neglected.

Shirley, I wonder how many 4 year old clients the pedicurist has had in their career.  Do you use the bacon crumbles from Costco?  We use them all the time and it sure saves a lot of bacon frying.  I know we have several of the shoe horns but when I looked for them I couldn't find one.  I tried the long handled one but it didn't work for me.  I can get these shoes on without a shoe horn.  What a great idea to let the little one ride as a passenger on the luggage.

Gloria, be kind to yourself.  We all do things we wonder how or why we did them.

Phyllis, glad you are missing the snow.

Jane, I hope your latest lead on fixing the kitchen drawers will generate what you need to fix your problems.

Lloyd, it sounds like you are finally getting to enjoy the benefits of retirement in not having to deal with the winter snow.

A good Sunday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND ❄️❄️❄️

The sun is shining brightly and starting to melt the snow. We had 8" of snow and it sure is beautiful.  Our street is a sheet of ice this morning so I am happy to not be heading out right away.

GLORIA/Amy, I love to read about your thoughts of hanging out clothes/sheets to freeze dry....oh how I honestly miss those days.  There is nothing better than fresh sheets that have been line dried, and oh how soft those baby diapers were.  Don't forget the smell!

LLOYD, I think you have quite a few of us wishing we could be with you and Nancy there in Florida right now.  Enjoy!

SHIRLEY, I really enjoyed the picture of Andy and the grandson...what fun.  I know exactly how you feel regarding seeing our kids in the grands.  It always make me smile!  I know they are having a wonderful time....nothing better than family trips together.  Thank you for sharing with us, and thank you, BUBBLE, for making the clickable to make it easy to see.  I had to go seek it out yesterday, now today one touch and I was there.

LARRY, I have to admit that I was pleased with the winning teams in the playoffs games yesterday.  I especially enjoyed watching CJ Anderson, a ex Bronco doing so well in the Rams Game.  I am curious what the brand of shoe you purchased?  My dad needs to get a slide in shoe.  Diane ordered a pair of Sketcher on line for him yesterday.....as he can not get out and shop for them.  I hope he likes them, and they will work well for him.

JANE, I sure hope your plea to the cabinet maker will yield the parts that you need to fix your kitchen drawer. We always seem to have the same unlucky situation when we are trying to fix the smallest project.  I am holding good positive thoughts for you.

PHYLLIS, I had to chuckle at the thought of your David blowing leaves, when we have so much snow on the ground.  Our leaves have been cleaned up and gone for quite awhile.  Glad he got them done for the city to pick them up.

My dear neighbor who is a double amputee had to have another surgery on Friday.  Bless her heart they found she had a pinched artery behind her knee, and feel it I might be why she is having problems with the healing process after her last surgery.  Prayers for Pam are greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Enjoy your Sunday....sewing, hopefully for you, AMY!

Jenn

I can't say Good Morning anymore.  It has been a very slow morning. I did not sleep real well and was up and down.  I finally got on the computer in the wee hours and got sleepy, and did go back to sleep in the recliner.

Woke up to about 4 or 5 inches of snow. It is not supposed to let up until this evening.  But, it is kind of very fine snow now. South of my area got a lot more. So, that was good.  It is pretty with the trees all covered.

Shirley, that was a cute picture your son pulling the carry-on with the little one riding on it.  Great idea !

Lloyd, do hope you will reach Tampa today and find a nice campground to stay for a few days.  Lucky you to be in nice warm weather.

Larry, hope you will have a restful Sunday and enjoy whatever games you decide to watch.

Gloria, hope you are feeling better today.  I won't be watching any kind of games on TV today.  I probably will watch a Hallmark movie at some point.

Jane, sorry you didn't get to church this morning.  We have about 4 or 5 inches of snow right now. And, it is cold.  Will be interesting to see what happens in the morning with the school closings.  Our area they just might go in a little later.  I hope you will be able to get just the parts you need to fix the drawer.  I would think that if it is the factory where they make them, they should be able to just send you the part you need.  Good Luck !

Amy, sounds like the last of your Christmas celebrations was a good one.  I used to love to hang my laundry out of doors when the weather was nice.  Didn't like it when the clothes froze on the line, tho.

I decided that I just didn't feel all that good to have my grandson and his little girls visit today.  What with the weather not being that good, I didn't want them to take a chance driving down to my place. We will have to try for another week end.  Still feeling a little washed out from the past couple days.

I need to get some lunch and maybe that will help me feel better. I did take a Tylenol thinking that might help me feel a little more "alive"  Tylenol never worked that good for me, but since I am on Eliquis now, I can't take the Aleve that I used to take. THat always worked good.

Hope everyone will have a great rest of the day.  Whatever you find yourself doing.

Joy

Good evening everyone. Well like every thing in life there three sides to every story. your side my side and the right side. we missed the turn off in the wrong lane at the right time,so we seen quite bit of the ocean on both sides of us on I 75 for several miles before we found a place where we could do a turn around. on the way back got on I 4 and took some more
snick ocean front but finely got back to Tampa and found a nice R V Park but was very pricey. well we are going to sea world at Orlando tomorrow.
haven't decided what or where after that. but no more high $$$ RV parks
I think I can check $$ first and if to pricey go on down the road and fiend a road side rest area like we stayed in night before last, worked just fine. we have to run the generator in them. the generator is up front and our bed is in the back so we sleep just fine. Have a great rest of the day. I am soon going to hit the hay.

I'm going to be off to Dreamland in a little while, too.  I just finished marking all the jars of spaghetti sauce and I have 15 quarts.  If I only get 3 meals per jar, that's 45 meals.  Not bad!

I wish you all a good night and may God bless us, every one!

I woke up & got up before 2:00 am.... doesn't do me much good to go to bed early, less than 3 hours sleep but no sense laying there when laundry was waiting.

Larry, I was fixing my egg beaters with bacon crumbles & remembered you asked if they were Costco, they are from Sam's Club with their brand but betcha they came from the same place yours did. I only bought them because yours sounded so good & so much less trouble than frying the slices. Don't taste like "bacon bits" we used to get years ago, do they? Yummy, thanks for the tip.

Amy, I'm sure you've mentiond & I forgot.... is Julie your daughter?  My daughter's name is Julie-Ellen (remember when Vera-Ellen was so popular?)... her middle name is Beth & that's what we intended calling her but "when in England"... our landlord's wife kept calling her the whole Julie-Ellen & it stuck. Hyphenated because a combo of my parents names & didn't want either slighted if we arrived back home calling her just one of their names. My parents were so pleased... times I used to wonder if my husband married me to get my parents, they really were jewels.

No snow here and supposed to warm up all week with another cold front & maybe snow by the next week end. I talked to my sister that lives less than 15 miles from Lloyd's house, her daughter & son each live on farms "out that direction"... and both without power for about 24 hours.

One load of clothes washed & dried & put away, tummy full & cats back inside so think I'll see if sleep will come now.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's cold here too.  AMY it was 14 degrees when I got up this morning and it's all the way up to 15 now!  Geemagotchees are definitely in order!

SHIRLEY, don't know when AMY will be back to set things straight but I happen to know the answer to your question.  Julie is David's wife and David is AMY's son.  So Julie is the "Daughter-in-love" that AMY talks about.  They are the ones with the 2 Great Dane dogs and David is the truck driver that just came through all your snow on his way back to Canada from Texas.  I've had the extreme pleasure of actually meeting David face to face when he went through Lewisburg!

The doggies and I are waiting for the boinger and then we'll have breakfast and the day will begin.  I'll be off to Wally World at 10 and I'm hoping for short lines, half full carts and smiling faces.  It's supposed to be sunny today and even though it's cold, the sun might bring out the shopper.  Oh well, I suppose that's good for my pay check and that's important, too.

I hope SHIRLEY is sleeping now.  I don't know how anyone gets by on the amount of sleep she seems to get.

I wish everyone who follows me here, a wonderful day just exactly the way you wish it for yourselves.  Do what makes you feel good and let everything else go.

Good morning, Shirley,Amy and Jane.

The snow is still hanging on the trees and our county school has just decided to close for the day.  They  are usually the last of the counties to make that decision.  Makes it difficult for parents that have to go to work.

I think the majority of the roads are pretty good,  Our area did only get about 4 or 5 in. of snow, abut further south, some areas have up to a foot of snow.  We lucked out this time.  But, it is still very cold and will stay cold the rest of thee week.  More snow is predicted by the week end.

Shirley, wish we lived closer.  We could meet up in the early morning hours.  I wish I could do laundry at 2 a.m. but, since I am in an apartment,  the hours for the laundry room don't open until 9 a.m. and stay open until 9 in the evening. I usually try to do my laundry about 4 p.m. as most people tend to do theirs in the mornings.  I usually have the laundry room all to myself.  My apartment is just across the hall, so I don't have to sit in there the whole time. I usually take my timer with me and come back to my apartment.  Works out well.

Jane, Maybe everyone did all their shopping on Saturday, so it will be an easy day for you.

Amy,  have a nice lunch with your DIL, and hope you get to the fabric store.

I have had my breakfast and fooling around on the computer for a little while.

Have a great day.

Joy

Cold this morning here, too, but NO rain.

Yesterday was dreary and miserable outside....warm and cozy inside. I watched a little football and read a lot and napped off and on.  Just a nice quiet day.  My younger son, Kevin, and DIL, Beth, gave us a large box of Kansas City Steaks for Christmas so a steak with baked potato and a tossed salad was our meal and was really enjoyed.  By me, especially, since it involved very little cooking.  I'm getting more and more lazy.

I must call Kevin and Beth later on today to see if they are ok.  Lots of snow up where they are and power outages.  But, both of them work from home and they have a generator so I'm not too concerned.  Older grandson, Sean, works at Dulles and if he was on duty yesterday he was probably out de-icing planes.  Younger grandson, Ryan, works at Wegmans but I think he has Sundays off. Hope he didn't have to drive in bad weather.

Breakfast is calling and then laundry.  Life as usual.  Take care, Everyone.

Good morning everyone, warmer a whole 20°, beginning of a heat wave? Maybe I will be able to go out for some fresh air and exercise at last. I really am feeling cooped up by now.

SHIRLEY  Cox is not as up to date as they claim. I have not tried to call to stop robocalls. My family knows not to call me after 9pm bur got a call at 10 Friday night, let the machine. Weird, not a robo but some jerk being funny?  Let the machine take the whole thing and after it was over I deleted it. I would like to see some snow, too. Like you I need comfortable shoes, last pair was $160. I have a narrow foot and only know one place I can get them.

LARRY  well the Patriots won yesterday. I never watch but heard it on the news. Last week in all that cold they were out on the field for practice, must have helped in that cold. Don't know how they can do it without freezing.

JENNY  no fabric softener will take the place of line dried clothes.  I do know adding white vinegar in the rinse cycle softens clothes better, gets all the soap out. The smell does not last either. Here you would have to stay  in the laundry room and listen for the rinse cycle to put it in. Wasted time just sitting there.

JOY  at times when I can't find something to watch on TV I go to youtube and look for an old movie and watch on the computer.

LLOYD  when my daughter and her family drove from San Diego to here they stayed at roadside areas for the night.

JANE  that spaghetti sauce should last you for awhile unless you start giving it away.

AMY  so glad it is not that cold here today but we have a very cloudy sky. Maybe we will see some white flakes falling later?

SHIRLEY  my daughter is named for both grandmothers but my Mom's name came first.

PHYLLIS  we sure do worry about family driving in bad weather. I drove in all kind of weather when I was working.
Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another overcast and pretty chilly day.  We didn't get out of the house yesterday and I doubt we do today.  I am feeling some better this morning so hope to have a good day.  A friend will be here later this morning to work with me for an hour.  I have nothing else on the schedule for today so it should be a pretty quiet day.

Lloyd, I know those roads around Tampa can be very confusing with I-4 and I-75 merges.  Sea World is very interesting.  Are you going to take in Epcot while you are down there.  I never tired of going their as it is very interesting.  I hope you got a good nights sleep.

Jane, that is a lot of spaghetti sauce but I bet it is so good.  I hope you get some short lines today.  Is your work station cold or do they have the barrier at the doors so that all of that cold air doesn't rush in?

Joy, in the first apartment Stacey lived in the laundry facilities were in the basement and were open 24 hours a day. However, I don't know that she ever did her laundry in the middle of the night as it was really isolated down there.

Amy, I hope your husband can find some shoes that are as comfortable as the ones I bought last week.  I am sure you will enjoy your lunch with Julie.  Is your sewing room in a basement area?

Shirley, that was a very early start to your day.  I expect you are right regarding the bacon bits.  They are certainly handy.  I am glad you like them.  Pat also uses them to season her green beans but most of them go into her breakfast egg meal along with frozen peppers and onions and shredded cheese.  I sometimes put a little salsa on it as it cooks to alter the meal just a bit.  I bet you are much like you parents and are also a jewel.

Phyllis, what a nice gift.  One year they had a special offer on a gift box of steaks and other meats from Omaha Steak.  We tried it and it was good and then we bought the same thing for a gift for friends.  It sounds like yesterday would not have been a nice day to be working outside at the Dulles airport.

Gloria, that is what I had to pay for my new shoes as well but I think it was worth it as these are very comfortable.  I also have a fairly narrow foot.  I did watch some of the Patriots game.  It must really hurt to be smashed to the turf when it is frozen. I also watched several college basketball games.  Our washer has a little tray for softener or vinegar that is released at the right time during the washing cycle.  Pat was using vinegar regularly but think she isn't right now for some reason.

Merry Monday, Soda Shoppers,

After 3 days of gloomy, wet (rain-no snow) weather, the sun is beginning to shine.  Hooray!

I'm doing laundry and beginning to commence to start  :)  sorting things for taxes.  Haven't yet gotten the Organizer from my accountant nor any W-2s - just trying to be "ahead of the game".

Have also had doctors' appointments ("management" - nothing wrong), played Bridge, been to an organization's meeting and had a lovely long visit with Grandson before he went back to college.

Too far behind here to go back and make comments.
Will just wish Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Week.

I came home from work absolutely exhausted!  Today was the first day after the Food Stamps cards were renewed.  I'd say at least 2/3 of my customers used food stamps and they bought a lot f stuff.  Also, I was on a low number register on the food end of the store for the first half of my shift ad I was the only one between reg 8 and the self checkouts at the other end for the second half.  I never had less than 6 in line and they all had full carts.  What a day!

And it didn't start off so well.  I was making the turn from the main road into the road that leads to the WM parking lot and a lady at the stop sign began to pull out.  She stopped about 2 inches from hitting me and while I saw her coming, I had no where to go.  When I pulled away my heart was all a flutter!  But I guess you could say something bad turned out well.  God was with me and the accident that could have happened didn't.  Unfortunately, that thought didn't do much for my system.  It was scary!

I haven't done anything since I came home except take care of the doggies.  And I plan to go to bed early!

Quaker Maid hasn't answered my request for help with the kitchen drawers.  Maybe tomorrow.

I'd like to know what those bacon crumbles are called.  I'd probably like them.

I bid you all good night!  And tomorrow has to be a better day!

Jane, I just took a look at my package & it's called "Bacon Crumbles".... with the Member's Mark trademark.  Don't remember what the bag costs but for sure goes a long way for flavor, tastes like bacon you just cooked & not too crispy but not too greasy. I do heat in a skillet & blot what little grease shows up, no mess... & use like any place you'd enjoy a bacon flavor. Do you have a Sam's Club next to your Walmart? Glad you didn't have a fender-bender & I can imagine the heart stopping as you held your breath!

Cats are running amuck tonight. They were out for a while, first run they've had for a couple days & are feeling their oats. Tom is begging to go back out but he comes in with bad habits when he hangs out with that wild bunch.  :o  >:(  Tom & Callie are sitting by their food dishes waiting for their midnight snack.... gets earlier all the time.

Callie, I got my statement from Social Security today... I really do hate all the paper work & begrudge every penny taken out. If we hadn't been as frugal all through the years "they" wouldn't get much. I watch the kids today spending money.... amazes me that they don't raise an eyebrow at cost of having hair done at least once a week, manicures & pedicures... vacations all over the world. All have great paying jobs & do have savings... Kansas is not a "retirement friendly state"... no cap on property tax at any age. Ah, moan-moan...
time to go to bed since I got up so early.

Shirley, thanks for caring. January started out as a continuation of Dec., feeling rotten. So , they decided another chest X-ray was needed, another blood test, and the result is I am continuing on from the pneumonia and other stuff from Dec. Now I am on a different antibiotic, and doing nothing but recovering. The new antibiotic upset my stomach a bit, so I must take it with food. I feel tired, listless, but hopeful. I am not ready to leave this world yet. Too curious to see what tomorrow will bring.

We are having RAIN ! Wheeee......Two days of it now and more to come. One day was a real gully washer, most since I moved here from Hemet. (I still miss my buddies from those days in Hemet. Still keep in contact, but losing a few.)

Larry, I think I was sicker than i knew. I have never slept a whole night, then the whole following day, then the next night again. This new antibiotic is putting me back in the world.

I am NOT lying......we had SNOW cover the ground and rooftops yesterday. It came late in the day, but was soooooooo beautiful. This happened once before when we had our home in Hemet. No sign of it by morning though
