One day, Einstein has to speak at an important science conference.
On the way there, he tells his driver that looks a bit like him:

"I'm sick of all these conferences. I always say the same things over and over!"

The driver agrees: "You're right. As your driver, I attended all of them, and even though I don't know anything about science, I could give the conference in your place."

"That's a great idea!" says Einstein. "Let's switch places then!"

So they switch clothes and as soon as they arrive, the driver dressed as Einstein goes on stage and starts giving the usual speech, while the real Einstein, dressed as the car driver, attends it.

But in the crowd, there is one scientist who wants to impress everyone and thinks of a very difficult question to ask Einstein, hoping he won't be able to respond. So this guy stands up and interrupts the conference by posing his very difficult question. The whole room goes silent, holding their breath, waiting for the response.

The driver looks at him, dead in the eye, and says :

"Sir, your question is so easy to answer that I'm going to let my driver reply to it for me."

I'm a little late getting in here this morning.  Had a bunch of stuff to attend to before I could sit down with friends.

This thing has reverted to not letting me see the bold, #4, green printing while I type.  If this is the way it's going to be, I may not be able to post in here.  I loved it when I could actually see what I was typing.  I'm pretty sure it will print the way I want it to but I can't really see what I'm typing.  So I'm going to knock off for today.  If I can't see it, I don't really know what it looks like.  It's kind of like the old high school typing test when we had to put the cover on our typewriter and stick our hands under the cover to type.  I hated them!

I  wishyou aal a good day!

Amy ? what do you have against the service man, taking the car in dropping wet for him to have to stand under it to service it. Have a good day. we had a bit on the top side of 4" rain in the last 24 hours. not raining now but is cloudy and calling for more rain today.

Good morning everyone, no sun yet, cloudy again but it is dry so far. 44° so not warm either. Yesterday weather guessers said today would be dry but this morning they are saying showers at times. Then the next 3 days have rain in the forecast. Looks like May is starting with rain like April was. My daughter in Arizona sent me a photo yesterday of the hail they had Monday afternoon.

LARRY  that James won again on Jeopardy. He is almost up to a million and a half in winnings.

JOY  you sure had a wonderful birthday celebration. It is wonderful when family gets together like that. That  is a lot of work to get the crab meat  out but just a bit  more work than getting everything out of a lobster. That is what we are more used to up here in the New England states along the shore line.

JANE  looks like you had a busy day yesterday. One nice thing is that the groomer comes to the house and you do not have to take your fur babies to the groomer,

SHIRLEY  I used to love walking in the rain but these days would love a week of NO rain. We have had too much rain this spring. If we can call it spring, been too cold. That  smart man on Jeopardy won again last night. I would feel like a millionaire if I even won 10.00.

JANE  a day is never wast ed when we learn something new.

BUBBLE  love the first graphic, beautiful. Great answer from Einstein's driver. LOL with the cartoon. Thanks  for the new book write in.

LLOYD  expect rain here later AGAIN.

Have a good day.

A good MAY DAY TO EVERYFRIEND 🌷🌷

Our company is here so I only have a couple of minutes to say HELLO.

FIRST OF ALL....my eternal thank you to all of you for your so appreciated words regarding Michele.  I could not ask for any kinder words of care❣️ We still do not know anymore about the future plans of treatment.  We are doing our pickups from school and taking the children to their activities this week, along with trying to host my cousin and his wife from California.  They are very understanding and thankful have a car and can come and go as they please.  Sadly, they will not get to see Dave's Family.  Michele is down and out, as usual after the Monday chemo.  I have not even seen her as she has been in bed and I do not do stairs unless I absolutely have to.  We try to be as quiet as we can be so as not to disturb her.

We have had rain and snow since our company arrived Monday....we need the moisture so badly, but it has been disappointing as we hope it would be nice while they are here.

My thanks to you all AGAIN....YOUR SUPPORT helps me tremendously!

Enjoy this first da6 of May!

Jenn

Hi Everyone. It is already 74 degrees here this morning and we are headed up around 90 degrees this afternoon.  I did have a great nights sleep last night and didn't even get up to have my Camomile tea.  However, this morning things went downhill quickly when I tried to stand up and slid off the bed onto the floor.  I was too close to the edge of the bed and when I started to slip off the bed my  cotton socks on the wooden floor got no traction and the next thing I knew I was on the floor.  I tried and tried to get up but no strength in my legs.  I finally got on my knees but didn't have the strength in either my arms or legs and we finally called Scott, who was here in a few minutes.  He got behind me and just picked me up.  Once I was on my feet I was OK.  Nothing broken but sure going to have a sore tail bone and sure I am going to have some sore arm and leg muscles as well.  We have already made some changes to see this doesn't happen again including putting down a bathroom rug at the side of the bed and I will no longer wear cotton socks to bed but some of those you get in the hospital with the little rubber dots on the bottom.  I realize I must start an  exercise program.  I printed out instructions for me sometime ago.

The one plus of my fall this morning was to get my bottom number for the blood pressure above 60 for the first time is quite a few days.  It is obvious to me from how much I have written that I am a bit hyper this morning.

Bubble, thanks for the usual start to the new month.  I like all that you posted especially the Einstein funny and the cartoons.

Jane, your postings certainly appear in Green and we don't want you to  post.   Don't understand if it was showing green for you one day and you do things the same way why is isn't the next day.  Hopefully someone can help you.

Shirley, it is obvious you like to have a nice yard but in the scheme of things as long as it is mowed how important is it if there are some weeds.  While I have always like a nice looking yard, not the best in the neighborhood perhaps but it is now mowed and trimmed so even though it isn't very green I am now wasting a moment worrying about it.  Our friend who was here yesterday was going home and firing their lawn service as the weeds and sedge grass was taking over their yard that had once been fine.  One of the service men had told her that many of the companies are watering down the chemicals so they are not as effective now to save money as the chemical are so expensive.  We did have a weed free yard two or three years ago when I hired my own service to fertilize my yard and then the lawn service the HOA uses started taking care of that but the results haven't been very satisfying.  Things like this can be aggravating but in the long run are just not very important.  Guess I am repeating myself and I know each of us see things differently.

Amy, how nice of you to give the Von person freshly baked bread.

Joy and Jane and Shirley, when I was able to grocery shop I always tried to take things from the back of the display case as they stock the older items in front and the newer in back.  Sometimes there were two or three days difference in the sell by or use by dates.

Lloyd, that is a lot of rain in 24 hours.  The trouble is a lot of it runs off and doesn't soak into the ground, at least it does here.

Gloria, while I have always watched Jeopardy having someone win so many times and so much money really increases ones attention to it.  James continued his winning streak again last night. I don't know how one person can be that smart as he seldom gets anything wrong.

Callie, I also prefer to type on the computer rather than the tablet although it isn't too bad to type on it.

Jenny, I left you a long posting over in Norm's Bait and Tackle so won't repeat it here.

Larry, like you, the days of NOT DOiNG are catching up with me, have not slid off the bed but am having to be more than careful to not do a "tipsy" over with any quick movement. These muscles seem to whither faster than they strengthen so am telling myself that time to work on them is NOW.  Hope you aren't too sore tomorrow, need to keep that padding on the tush if you play those games!

Love the graphics & jokes, Bubble. You do keep busy (and out of trouble?)  Thank you.

We had less than an inch & half in the rain gauge but I emptied to ready for more tonight. It is gray & cool, had to chase cats out so I can clean this floor. They hate the vacuum & dust mop & there is serious icky on the floor this morning..blame it on the cats.  ;) My super neat son is stopping by after work, he does this fairly often. Won't eat because "Wed is the day to work out & he can't eat before".  He eats his main meal at noon (they both do) & snack on cheese & fruit evenings. She runs marathons & he just makes his clothes look nice. Amazing how different 3 kids can be with same parents & home life.

Gloria, I'm sure I've said it before, that I never won anything except once when I handed the paper to sign MY name on for me to my friend, for the drawing at Art Guild.  Sure enough, my name came out of the hat & I felt like I had to share half the winnings with her! Half is better than nothing, right? Did the kids have damage from the hail?  I'm not going to brag about not having a bad hail storm around here for years.... afraid this will bring it on.  :o   Used to have damage nearly every year at least once. That poor Rialta got hit so many times it was finally "totaled" and we bought it back as salvage! Seriously. But I took dry ice on hot sunny day & it popped the biggies out & nobody saw the top to care. Could not buy the "sheeting" for the sides anymore but after I got done it didn't look bad at all, Jenn saw it... Loved that baby.

This is not getting the floor clean, a whole list of "to-dos".  I got up at 4:30 with a cat wanting in. When I opened the door the 2nd one popped in ready for breakfast & by the time we got to the other end of the house, Mama Callie was waiting at the door. After they ate I fried a couple pieces of bacon & and egg... remembered I had the biscuits from KFC so made a small skillet of gravy & discovered my left over hash browns in the frig so heated half of them & had myself my fav kind of breakfast. Drank my cup of coffee with all that food & crawled back in bed. We just got up about 10:00 because the phone rang. Nothing like being retired, huh?  Except someone has to clean house.....  :crazy2:

Jane, if you type one line like this. Do a copy....

then delete the line & put in your "font name, size & color"... as the curser bounces between the brackets... paste your sentence & see if it doesn't come back your color. Then you can add your whole post in color. It works for me.  What I am seeing right now is the little black letters. Don't know how others have been doing it but this is how I make it work for me.... (but you do realize I do everything backwards, upside down or just plain screwy).... You do have to post (I think) to get that first line size/color/etc

Lloyd, it wasn't raining at the time and they did get to work on a dry vehicle.. I just talked with my son and he is in Columbia MO is that anywhere near you?

Time to relax...

Amy, is your son going east or west?  He must be on I-70 & if he's going through St.Louis, we used to time our trips to go through at night. Don't know if they've improved all the bridges going over the river, but we've come close to being squeezed into concrete by big rigs. It has been at least 8 or more years since going on east, but I am serious that we used to take naps on either side to make sure we got through in the middle of the night. Safe trip to him. I also love driving in the rain, so peaceful & easy on the eyes.

I haven't seen Tom (cat) since this morning. Been a long time since he missed a meal, but guess plenty of wildlife he won't go hungry. Speak of the devil~~ He is back, eating the chicken the girls didn't want. It is a misty rain so his fur is wet. All 3 are sitting outside under the "overhang" to stay dry, they like to feel "free".  ::)  Tiger still needs to come in for her last meal of the day. Callie has been grumpy with them today, looks for an excuse to smack them in the face with her little white paw. They just back off & let her have her way. Think I will go to bed early, sleepy weather. Sweet dreams & God Bless.  Shirley

Good Evening,

I'm using a "split screen" so I can go back and catch up on posts I want to comment on and type my post at the same time.  We'll see how well that works.

First of all - to Jenny:  I'm specifically mentioning Michelle and your family in my daily prayer when I ask the Lord to be with any friend who needs His special touch.  Hugs an love to you, my friend.

Bubble,  thank you for the new Soda Shoppe and the cute stories.  Love the one about Einstein's driver.

Larry, looks as if you started a trend with your story of slipping out of bed.  I have some of those socks with the dots left over from my one and only hospital stay several years ago.  They're good for keeping feet warm at night.
Dil's mother called her son at 4:00 a.m. one morning because she had slid out of bed and couldn't get up.  When he asked her how in the world she "slid" out of bed, she told him she was wearing silk pajamas.  Plenty of teasing about that one!

Shirley,  I'd gladly share some of our rain with you but it's moving east and north.  OKC had more than 3 inches yesterday and more today.  There were several tornadoes in the state but none near the metro area.....this time.

All of the plants my dear family put in on Sunday are probably wondering if we're trying to drown them.

Also strange to have the heat on on May 1 but the house has been chilly for the past couple of days.

Nothing on my schedule any day this week and I'm finally starting to catch up on those things that "need" to be done but not necessarily "right now".  Of course, about the time I get caught up - the list will start again.  <sigh>

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Jane,

I didn't plan on writing anything here tonight,  but hopefully this will help you.

Try this:  Click on the "B" for bold, then go and click on the second "A" to get the size and then click on the little box with the colored dots and click on the color you want.

And, then, start writing your message after the little "Cursor".

You might also ask Larry to tell you the way he writes his message to get the size and color he uses.  He doesn't go back and highlight the message after he writes it to change everything.  I hope this is clear enough for you.  If you still have trouble,  ask Larry to help you to change the size and color like he explained  right after they made all the changes.

Hope this helps.

Joy

Good morning everyone..

Wet day here, must have rained overnight and it is to rain today. Flooding in this area has slowed down for now.

Today is make up for what I didn't do yesterday and believe it or not it still needs to be done...no one did the cleaning while we were off gallivanting.

Lloyd, thank you ,will pass that onto him. He doesn't stay long in one place always on the move. Can you or maybe Larry or Bubble remove your phone number? You don't need any sales people or scammers phoning you in the middle of the night.

Shirley, I have no idea  other than he is headed to Fort McMurray was in Alberta. I do know because of the size of load he is not permitted to drive at night.

Joy, that is  almost how I do my posts also, I just do it in a different order. Size, colour and bold font.

Better get a move on here ,enjoy your day everyone.

Shirley I have to sometimes lean over close to the screen to see what is there, AMY too late we already get a few un wanted post. we have on my computer work space a phone called  clear captions, example say you are talking to us is says what ever you are saying in Farley large print if you are talking clear, not slurring your words. if you slur one it calls wrong word. it will say whom was calling; if i have put them in phone directory or regular calling person, press on face and will light up x # missed calls all you have to read them and delete if you don't want to return there call, here they are free phone's and very nice. if you do not understand a word in your ear just read it on screen. it is 54º and drizzling calling for high of 62 today. Have a great day.

Jane, it sounds to me as though the font size on your computer has changed.  Can you hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and press the + key in the numbers row on your keyboard?  That should enlarge the font size that you can see as you are typing in the reply box.

I had to do some serious catching up this morning.  Bubble left the old room and went to this new one and I got lost.  I'm here now and finally reading what was posted yesterday.

Larry, that was scary for you to fall.  I'm glad Scott was close and could get there to help you.  Have you thought about attaching a grab bar to the bed so if you start to slide again you can grab and hold on until you get your feet under you again?  I know that Walmart and Amazon,  and many others, sell them and they aren't expensive.

It's THAT day again.  David and I are off to do the grocery shopping so I will come back later to read those who sneak in behind me.

Hi Everyone.  We have a clear sky this morning and we are to get up into the high 80's this afternoon.  Nothing particular on my schedule for today other than seeing Scott, who will be here before long to take his mother to an routine appointment down at the hospital.  Then he will come back to spend some time with us this evening. My blood pressure is pretty low this morning being 73/48 and guess that may be why I am pretty breathless this morning and no energy.  I am going to offer a few comments this morning as got nothing done here in my office yesterday but posting to the discussion boards but want to get some other things accomplished.

Shirley, I try to be hold of something or be where I can grab onto a counter when I am up as had times when I started to fall over sideway or backwards.  The rollator has become a close friend. Unfortunately I don't have much padding on my tush.  I have been across those St. Louis bridges many times and I know what you are talking about.

Jane, if we can't come up with an answer just prepare your posting as an email and send it to me and I will go in and add it to the this discussion indicating if it from you.  I sure don't want you to stop posting and that would take only a minute to do.  To copy just highlight what you have written and then hit the Control and "C" key and that puts your writing on

Callie, I have used the split screen for a very long time and so handy when posting and can keep the posting you are commenting on open in one tab and your posting box in a second tab and display them side by side.

Lloyd, I have been through Holden many times and had a second cousin who lived there that we visited a few times.  Do you want me to removed your phone number?

Phyllis, I have thought about the grab bar for the side of the bed as we had one for Stacey. However the precautions I put in place yesterday hopefully will prevent any more falls.  Thanks for the suggestion

Good morning everyone, another gloomy day and 48°. No rain  but listening to the weather guessers  from Friday to Monday rain is in the forecast. Think we should start building an Arch like Noah did??

LARRY  so sorry you fell yesterday. I am scared of falling. I know I would not be able to get up on my own and  the EMT's would be called and have to come and pick me up. That James seems not to push that button when he does not know the answer on Jeopardy

SHIRLEY  I have a paper with exercises on it but takes 2 people and I cannot get the CNA to help me with them. No damage from that hail but it was the first time they had it since moving to Arizona.

JANE  your post is green. They do not look any different and are the bold green you have been using. Am I the only one who sees them green? Of course I do my typing on notepad then copy/paste in the post box.

PHYLLIS  I bought a grab bar for my bed years ago when I had trouble getting out of bed. I have to use it every day to get up.

Have a good day.

Jane, I wonder if Gloria's system would work for you - type your message in Word or Notepad or whatever you use and you could use the font and size you prefer there.  Then proof and save your work, copy it and paste it in Reply.  Then even if you could not see it clearly, you would know what you wrote was OK and you could select Bold, Size and Color.

You also could check with Oldiesman or the Computer Q&A folder here.  Rammel is very knowledgeable in that folder.

Good Morning,

Jane,  before I begin typing, I click B and #3 on the size link.  I type between the [ ] marks.  While I'm typing, I do not see the print in Bold or size 3.  Have to do a "Preview" to see it that way.

Larry,  I like to stack the pages horizontally instead of side by side.  Sometimes I forget to move the cursor to the page I want and wonder why nothing's happening!

I like to get several tenderized chicken cutlets and bake them all at the same time.  Had been using the "dip in egg and crumbs/flour" technique but discovered a package of Shake and Bake at the back of the pantry shelf and thought....."well, why not?"  Baking directions were the same and they turned out great.   May try the flavored S & B next time.   (Half a cutlet is enough for one meal for me so I  cut them in two and freeze - then reheat one serving in whatever I feel like at the time.....BBQ sauce, Sweet & Sour sauce, gravy <from a package>, Cream of Mushroom soup....)

Not raining at the moment so I went out to check the bird feeders and take a close look at the new flowers.  While I was in the yard - a bright light appeared in the sky for a few minutes.  Guess that "lucky old sun' is still up there somewhere.
Newly planted flowers are gorgeous!  So great to see all that color on these gloomy days.

Did I already mention that this week has no Events to be Overcome By?  I'm catching up on Domestic Duties that have needed to be done but were too easy to be put off because they didn't need doing "right now".

Off to continue my project(s).......
Enjoy your day, Everyfriend

Good morning everyone.

A soggy day here. We had hoped to take away all the bags of pine needles this morning. May have to do it another day if the rain doesn't let up.

Larry, I hope you are not sore from your fall. We also have those socks from the hospital, great when hubby wasn't all that steady on his feet.

Shirley, hope you feel more tickety boo today and not woozy from your meds.

Gloria, the rain is visiting here before it gets to you. I just hope it doesn't cause more flooding in the area.

Callie, I like the Italian Shake and Bake. The last chicken  tenders I did in Panko but I didn't care for that. I really like soda cracker crumbs much better.

Better get a move on, it is a day one would rathe snuggle back down into bed but two dogs said nope!

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm going to try this before my eyes go buggy and maybe I can see what I'm doing.

Good Morning Everyfriend.  I've already had the doggies out, made coffee, gave them their pill, (we're waiting for the boinger) and started the dishwasher.  I meant to do it last night before I went to bed so I could put them away this morning but I forgot.  Now I'll have that to do later but at least I'll have some clean spoons.  I seem to run out of them first.

I'll be off to greet my public at Wally World today.  I don't go until 11 today so I'll probably be able to put the dishes away before I go.

HALLELUIA!  My cleaning dynamo texted me yesterday.  She's ready to start cleaning again and she'll be here Tuesday morning!  I told her plan on DIRT!  Big time!  I did my best and I can't see it but I know it's there.  I'm going to make a deal for an extra hour each time she comes to do an extra job....wash windows, clean the cobwebs off the porch, sweep porches and whatever else enters my mind.

LARRY, I too hope you aren't suffer residual aches from your slip to the floor.  Sometimes they wait a day to attack.  Also, thanks for the offer to post for me but I think I can manage if you all don't mind the errors that I might miss later in the day.

SHIRLEY, I hope you're feeling better and adjusting the meds to suit YOU!  I do that, too and I think my Dr. has finally got used to that.  She asks questions like, "Do you want to take something for that?"  And she tells me things like, "There's a med you can take for that....if you want to."  Usually I don't want to.

I think our boinger time is just about up so I'll wish you all a good day, less rain (or more if you need it) and good friends to share your day.

Now we'll see what happens when I post.

Jane, your message looks just as it should.

Everything is fine here.  Expecting rain this afternoon.  That won't bother me since I have some chores to do inside.  I have to get the laundry closet cleaned out in preparation for the wash/dryer delivery tomorrow.  Fingers crossed. :excited:  I'm really tired of handwashing.

Hope it is a good day for all of us.

Good morning everyone, another gloomy morning and 42°. Just heard rain will start this evening. About now I want "Scotty to beam me up" to a warmer sunny place like he did with Captain Kirk of the starship Enterprise.

MARY ANN way back in Bis' busy Nest Oscar who posted there is the one that told me about notepad. When I first joined SN I was jotting down remarks on paper and then when it cam to post I couldn't read what I wrote. Oscar told me about notepad and the copy/paste and have been doing that since.

CALLIE  have not see that bright spot on the sky that you mentioned. For days now the sky has been miserable shades of gray.

AMY  you send snow to us and cold temperatures but  never rain. That  mostly comes from southwest unless we get a nor'easter and that doesn't happen often.

JANE  Wish I had a cleaning dynamo like you have. My windows sure need washing, CNA's not allowed to do that. Even the housekeepers they have are not supposed to do it either and I cannot anymore.

PHYLLIS  hope the washer delivery is on schedule.

LLOYD  Nancy will enjoy being with the grands.  Hope your daughter's shoulder heals fast. Hard when shoulder is hurt. I know.

Have a good day.

we may have Ben born in the wrong generation? when i was a child we started out with wash boards then got a washing machine that had a lever on the side to agitate the clothes and a hand turning wringer. Later got a Maytag electric, and after the clothes were gated enough mom had a piece of broom handle about 2 foot long to pick the cloths out of the hot water and stick them in the wringer. the machine was square so set two tubs side by each other. ran the cloths into one and then the other them catch them and put them in a basket to take out and hang on the line. now day's we put them in the washer with soap and softener in a built in container and it is despondence at the right time when they are spun out switch to drier. lot easier. and the water is ran down the sewer so do not have to pumped carried in and out or heat on stove. a decised now  neighbor used to say good old days heck only thing about the good old days you had a strong back and a weak mined. and if I hadn't used that strong back so much back it would not hurt so much now. Have a great day relaxing.

Hi Everyone.  We have a cloudy morning and it is suppose to get to 84 this afternoon with a fairly good chance of some rain, which would be welcome.  Our housekeeper is here. That is the only thing on the schedule for today so it should be a quiet afternoon and evening.  I did have a good night's sleep this morning but after I sat up on the side of the bed I felt my energy drain.  Have any of you experienced such a feeling? Pat got her second Instant Pot, the 3 quart one, on Wednesday and she and Scott had to do quite a bit of rearrangement of things in the kitchen to accommodate both of them side by side.  She is telling folks her large Instant Pot had a baby.

Gloria, this is the third day since I fell and I am hoping the soreness will lessen after today.  Pat checked this morning and said I had a whooper of a bruise on the tailbone area.  That is a small price to pay for a fall.  I understand your fear of falling and that is why I won't walk but a few steps without holding on to my rollator and when that happens there is something else I can hold onto.  I found out my floor is very hard on when I was down on it and couldn't get up.  I am surprised your CNA isn't willing to help you with your exercises.  I tried to get started on an exercise yesterday but only lasted a couple of minutes.  I am trying to get more steps in each day. Since I have an adjustable bed I put the top up as far as it will go and it provides me something to push on to help get up.

Callie, I have also used the the tabs stacked horizontally but just prefer the side by side as a litle less scrolling involved.

Lloyd, last evening when I read your ok to remove your phone number I did go back and edit your posting and removed that one sentence.  Sorry to of the fall your daughter had.  I hope her children don't require lifting.

Amy, as I have indicated I am very sore from my fall.  I was able to get into a position in bed last night where the tailbone didn't hurt and think that had something to do with sleeping so well.

Jane, don't worry a whit about a typing error.

Phyllis, like you rain here won't bother me in the least as stay in all the time anyway except to see the doctors.  Glad you will get your new washer tomorrow.

Time out to type.... I've been in & read posts 2 or 3 times but get side tracked before answering. First of all, I did copy your phone number, Lloyd, to give you a call with mine. I think it is easier to let it come up on caller ID to have it already on my phone. Trying to get organized with MY days & watching for when y'all plan to leave. I'm still not clear which direction you are heading as I am not "on the way to FL or points east! I will watch for your posts. Sorry about the side mirror... I clipped one of those tall orange cones when I had a new Subaru... was watching the ground because someone had splattered them all over the street & did not notice a tall one that had a bent top & hit the back of the driver's side mirror. Cost a whole bunch to replace it & I was angry the city had a defective one sticking out like that. I remember doing the wash like you said... Mom had a square Maytag washer & wringer & put 2 tubs for rinsing, had a bottle of bluing to make the whites whiter. Those baskets were heavy to haul out to the clothesline.

Larry, I don't remember how long my tail bone stayed sore when I stepped back off that ladder, but no bruises for me since I don't take blood thinners (except for aspirin now). I found when I was really out of shape one spring, that instead of doing any timing, what worked for me was counting times to put a foot in that stretchy band & push... would do a number on each leg for a week & then increase a few pulls the next week. Surprising how much better my legs worked for "normal" walking after that. We really do have to keep at it but I am NOT good about exercising. My 89 year old brother in law works out twie a day & amazing how well his body still works. He is the one that had the melanoma 30 years ago on top of his head & spent 9 months on Interferon which turned him into a shrunken old man, but 6 months after it was over he had reversed the damage. I do not have that kind of will power. Love Pat's crack about the Instant pot having a baby....... Oh, that energy drain you get, that is how I felt when anemic, like someone hit me in the stomach & all the wind drained out. Try to eat extra protein, maybe eggs & raisins?  I could always tell when I got low, my eyes are my "weak point" & they would not be as sharp, even just a little low. They gave Andy a new kind of iron after his heart surgery & seemed to bring him up fast. I take Fergon & do keep it on hand for when I feel the need, but don't take it all the time. I do still eat "red" meat & eggs, the yolks have the vitamins that help most.

Here comes Tom, he goes over that Dutch door to the basement & sounds like it is falling down. It started raining & he has to run to me to save him. One big scaredy cat.

Gloria, I'm still wondering why your CNA can't do windows.... not like she had to get outside on a ladder, is it?  My windows need cleaning but after living in KS for nearly 50 years I know it is a waste of time. No kidding, every time I wash windows the wind will blow dust & sprinkle rain so before I can admire clean windows they are covered with mud.

Oh, wow, I just looked down at the river & it is really up today! Don't think it is over the bike path across the river, so many trees it is hard to see from inside the house.

Is Gloria de missing?  Hope she is okay.

Have nothing to show for the morning so better get on my horse & giddy up.  Y'all behave........love ya, Shirley

Good Morning,

Amy,  I didn't like the Panko crumbs for coating, either.  I save the heels of bread loaves for crumbs and have begun toasting them before making crumbs and putting them in freezer.  I'm sure there are several S & B flavors I'm not familiar with.  Will have to look next time I'm at the grocery store.

Larry,  I hadn't thought about less need for scrolling if the split screens are side-by-side.  I usually narrow the horizontal width of the one I'm typing on.  My philosophy is "Whatever works...."  ;)

Hi, Shirley.  the screen "warned" me a new reply had been posted while I was typing and suggested I "may wish to review my post".  Consider it reviewed!
Would gladly share some of our rain with you - particularly the amount that my home area of southeastern Oklahoma has had.
Sons went to our property there a week ago today and couldn't get across the creek that bisects the pastures because of water depth and fast flow.
#2 son used the drone he got for Christmas to "explore" the back part. The video was interesting to watch.  He was so proud of himself because he managed to land it on the cover across the bed of his pickup.   ;D

Project du Jour is desk work and bookwork.
"Get busy, Callie"

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Hello Everyfriend!  I'm in for the evening!  I worked 11 - 3 and as I was leaving, there was a lady on crutches obviously having a hard time standing.  She said, "Excuse me, you wouldn't be going to Milton, would you?"  I told her that I just lived down the road a bit and asked her why she was asking.  She said she needed a ride there because someone had brought her to pick up her last pay check and then left her there.  Milton is another small town about 4 mile away and guess what?  I took her home.  I figured she was on crutces and I'd sure like it if I didn't have to stand around on crutches.  She was very nice  and thanked me profusely.

I had my first "waltz" of the season yesterday with WALLY WEED WHACKER and I'm feeling the effects today.  I have sore places on my body that I didn't even realize were "places".  Here comes the Epsom salts and heating pad!

And I was still home in time to meet Cathy to go to the Amish Store.  Busy day!  Now I'm here for the rest of the day.  Time to feed the doggies and myself.  Hope you are all feeling as well as possible.  And if you need a ride, I hope you find someone like me!

Where's Gloria De?

Good late evening. Jane I am here, the breathing seems to get worse.  I always have like to be off the oxygen during the day, but now I am back and forth. I cannot light the gas stove when the oxygen is on.    To day I am tired, my DIL from Niceville arrived last night after 10PM she was stuck in Baltimore airport because of bad storm. So we talked till Midnight.  Then to day a social worker came along with the nurse. I now have low blood pressure, use to be high. I am satisfied so far with this type of Hospite. Just one doctor and no more Hematologist. I guess it is not for everyone, but for my age and lifestyle I am satisfied what I am offered.

Larry hope you feel better. I like my 3 qt,cooker.

Gloria, I still do the jot down method. I do not know how to split screens or notebook

Good early morning.  Just checking in.

I will be gone for most of the day, so, hopefully,  I won't be too tired to remember to post something when I get home

Gloria de, so glad to see your message this morning.  I am sure you will have a great visit with your DIL.

Jane, your helping the lady out sounds just like something we would all expect you to do.
I am sure she was very grateful.  That wasn't a very nice thing for her friend to just leave her there.  Not easy to get around on crutches.  As my aunt used to say...."you will get your crown one day."

Hope everyone will have a good Saturday.

Good morning everyone..

Cloudy here this morning...went to sleep listening to the frogs singing and woke up with the loons call echoing across the lakes.

Not sure what is happening today. Will see if Kyle wants to go to an antique cars show in a near by town if not then laundry it will be.

Gloria de, great to see your post...nice that your DIL is spending time with you.

Joy, have a fun day even if you do get tired later. I find that I know there will be a time we won't be able to go the long distances so we do it while we can. Housework can wait! Once summer gets here there is more work to do also.

Gloria, no more s*** I hope until fall.....late fall that is :)

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone,  52° warmed up but raining again, maybe I should say still raining.

JANE  when I type in Notepad it is black.

LARRY  like you I depend on my rollator to get around. It is hard getting it over the threshold into the kitchen so I hold  on to the counters when I go in there. I am lucky to have a CNA when others in this building could use one but their insurance will not pay for it. The one I have loves to talk. They can do light housework but not allowed to move anything. I do get started on exercises and then get lazy and stop.

SHIRLEY  I have had other CNAs who will do many things not on their list  to do but they never last long. The windows here tip in for easy washing inside and out but that is more than I can do these days. I did post yesterday.

CALLIE & AMY  I don't like the panko crumbs either. Tried them a couple of times then threw them away.

GLORIA de  I don' t do the split screen anymore. I type on notepad and it drops to the taskbar when I come back to SS.

JOY  you really posted early this morning.

AMY  no s*** till 12-24-19 hopefully not much then, just enough to be pretty.

Have a good day.

I'm up and attem....well, I'm up!  I'm happy about your reaction to my helping the lady out with a ride.  I didn't tell my daughter because I'm afraid she would begin telling me that I took a chance and I guess I did but the feeling was worth the chance and the reaction of all of you was even better!  Thanks!

The doggies have had their pill and we're waiting for the boinger. Then breakfast and the day begins.

AMY, you're right about doing what we feel like doing now because the time is coming when we won't feel like doing it and I'm going down to Ollie's today.  They have a couple of things that I think I'm going to buy with a special of 25% off one item.  I might stop in a discount grocery store while I'm there and maybe I'll have the car washed.  Sounds like a promising day.  If I play my cards right and the time is right, I can have lunch while the car gets clean.  There's a Wendy's right next door.

Now I'm off to do my crossword puzzle before the boinger goes off.  I wish you all a great day.  I'm always happy to see a post from everyone and to know what's happening in your live.  It's kind of like a phone call from a friend or a chat over coffee.  Enjoy!

Gray day here with rain supposed to move in this afternoon. I just got a call that the washer/dryer will be delivered this afternoon.  I hope they don't let the rain put them off.  I have a basket full of laundry that will go in as soon as the washer is hooked up!

Hi Everyone.  It is another sunny morning starting out 71 degrees and going up into the low 80's this afternoon with a 50% chance of rain.  I laid down yesterday about 10:30 and stayed their until around 3 pm. I finished listening to an audio book that I had just started the night before.  I took my shower this morning and washed my hair and it took up my days supply of energy.  I have nothing else I need to do today other than read and post here in the message boards. I did open a package of medicine I had gotten from my health insurer and got the good news that one of the expensive drug Renexa I have taken for years finally has a generic and so rather than the $80 copay I have had in the past it is now $15 for a three month supply.  Just like getting a little pay raise.  I now just have one expensive drug that is $125 co-pay for a three month supply.

Shirley, I am beginning to think I may have cracked my tail bone but know there is nothing to be done about that other than time to heal.  Pat had one of those stretch bands when she was rehabing from her hip and knee surgeries.  I think I will ask her if she still has it as that might help strengthen my legs.

Callie, that was a good use your son made of his drone.  I think many farmers are now using them as it gives them a good idea of their crops or to count their cattle. It sounds like he has become pretty skilled in its use.

Lloyd, those little ones would require picking up and I suppose one could do that with one shoulder working well.  I have it written down as to the ages of our great grandchildren.

Jane, how kind of you to take the lady on crutches home.  That was very inconsiderate of the lady who had brought her to the store not to stay until she was ready to go home.  It is those little things we can do for others that enrich our lives.  Do you have benches at the front of your store where people can sit down.  I have utilized the ones we have in our Walmart many times as I have waited for Pat to shop after I finished my shopping.  Using a weed wacker is hard work even for a young person.  I hope you have one that has a wheel on it so you don't have to bear the beat of it as you use it.

Lindancer, as I commented in Norm's B&T is is a relief to see you posting and know you will have someone with you all of the time now for awhile. I am now using oxygen when I am in bed and while sitting in my easy chair.  Apparently it lessens the work on the heart and the lung doctor the other day said such use is helpful even if my oxygen level isn't low.

Amy, going to an antique car show sounds better than doing laundry any day.

Gloria, the only threshold we have in going into the garage (and I hope the new ramp will help with that problem) and at the front door.   Pat goes to the mailbox through the garage so she doesn't have to deal with the little step on onto the front porch as well as the threshold at the front door.  I also use the counters when I am in the kitchen and door jams when I am in the bathroom or master closet.

Jane, helping the lady on crutches in your store is certainly not the same as stopping to pick up someone you don't know from the side of the road.  It sounds like you have a nice day planned.

Phyllis, we also have an Ollies over in Augusta but I am sure we will not be going there.  I do see their weekly flyers and expect there are some good buys there.  It sounds like your washer/dryer delivery will be occurring this afternoon since you have heard from them today.

Lloyd, hope your shopping plans go well today.  I hope you don't plan on getting on top of your motor home to install the Dish.

The weather cooperated and the day remained cloudy with no rain.  This is the kind of day I prefer if I want to drive somewhere.  Bright sun is blinding!  I got the car washed first and it took no time at all and it's now cleaner than it's been in years.

I stopped at the discount grocery and I'm still not used to it so I only bought two items that I knew I needed.  Then I hit OLLIE'S with a bang?  I got two of the things from the flyer that were on my list but I didn't like the indoor/outdoor floor mat so I left that there.  In it's place, I bought a couple of things that weren't on my list.  And I had a coupon fr 25% off one item so I saved $5.00.  Coincidentally that's how much I spent at the grocery store.  So one cancelled the other.

LARRY, I appreciate your vote of confidence about taking the lady home and I still feel good about it but I'm still not going to tell my daughter becase I think she won't understand.  Her heart's in the right place and I'm guessing that she would have done the same thing in my place but she thinks she has to look out for me and that's OK, too.

Also, LARRY, my Weed Whacker is electric so it's not all that heavy.  And it does have a small wheel to keep it moving.  I've carried in heavier grocery bags with no help so I can manage that.

JENNY, Michele is still on my personal prayer list and tomorrow, there will be about 200 more prayers coming from my church members because she's staying on the prayer list there until we get an "All Clear".  My heart aches for all of you!  And then you also have to worry about your father.  He's on my list, too.  God be with you!

Phyllis, by now you should be up to your ears in clean laundry if those guys were on time.  I hope it's all you could ask for and more.  I told my son how long you had to wait for delivery of the new one and he said, "Where's it coming from.....Jabip?  That was his father's favorite word for anyplace the he couldn't immediately identify or that was waaaaaay out of the way!

I think I'm going to see what else needs doing around here.

We also had a great day. Kyle decided to go to the car show. We never realised it was as big as it was but thoroughly enjoyed the outing. I bought cookie cutters 4 inch in diameter with the scalloped edges that I had been looking for.On the tag was 1919 era...I really don't care the age just the fact they are well made and can withstand more use!

We had lunch out ,then home to do laundry. I just brought it back in off the line. Wonder how Phyliss is doing with her new machine?

Going to go put my feet up for a bit.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm just going to check in because I have to go get ready for church while we wait for the boinger.  Today's my day to read the first lesson and I'm ready for that.  I practiced on the the dogs last night.

I'll be back later.  Have a good start to your day!

Good morning everyone, no rain yesterday gut no sun either. Today looks like rain all day, again. Hate to think if it was winter how much snow we would have. Nothing new around here, boring as always. My son was here yesterday like he always does on Saturday. Had my Skype time with my daughter like we do every day. Oldest son called like he often does. 49° of dampness.

LLOYD  a grandson has a drone he uses with a camera to show customers what he has done with his landscape business. That works better than just still pictures at ground level.

LARRY  the bath rooms here have grab bars all around so easy to hold onto.

JANE  my younger son used to stop every time he saw someone having car trouble to see if he could help or give them a ride. One time hi car broke down and someone stopped to help. It was someone he had helped before. He has always been helpful like that and still is. A feel good feeling to help.

JENNY  my prayers continue for Michele and the family.

AMY  my daughter had a collection of copper cookie cutters. I had to laugh because she no longer makes many cookies.

SHIRLEY  have a great Sunday.

Have a good day.

Jane, I think I would like your son and his business ethic.   His comment about Jabip made me laugh.  Yes, the appliances got here when they said they would along with four big, strong guys to set them up, which they did in about 20 minutes. I'm not sure why it needed four to do the job but it is done so, other than we had to wait until a copperhead snake  :o got far enough away from the steps to the backdoor so they could carry them in to the house, all went smoothly.  As soon as I could figure out the new dials I had a load of wash going.   ;D  And, I am pleased with what I chose.

As for the snake...we have a lot of copperheads here and we have learned to watch where we step when out in the yard.  It worried the delivery guys more than it did me.   :2funny:

We had rain last night but not nearly as severe as was predicted. Yay!!

Larry, I don't like the idea that you might have cracked your coccyx.  Perhaps you should have it checked out?  To decrease your mobility even more than you already have had to do is not good.

I am glad, too, to see Gloria de back.  Soda Shoppe forum is so unusual in that even though most of us have never met and probably won't, we still care about each other.  I love hearing about families and daily life and never find any of what each one has to post as boring.  It makes me feel that I am still part of the family of friends.

As Callie says, TTYL8R.

Hi Everyone. It is another cloudy morning with some rain predicted for this afternoon.  Late last night we had some significant rain but haven't heard how much.  It is needed around here.  I didn't have a very restful night although did get some sleep.  It is hard to get into a position on the bed that is comfortable due to the tail bone being so sore.  We will have a very restful and quiet day today as far as I know now.  I am going to try to stay up this morning until 11:30 or noon.  I hope to watch the golf tournament late this afternoon.  Yesterday when I tuned in to it they were in a rain delay and showing some previous tourney.  We did have TV dinners last night for dinner.  Mine was Marie Callendar sweet and sour chicken and rice with a side of carrots and broccoli.  Pat had a Weight Watchers Dinner but I was able to eat only half of mine to Pat finished it.

Jenny, hope you made it to the party yesterday.

Jane, I marvel at all you accomplish in a day.  It sounds like you are a very careful and thrifty shopper.  Obviously your children do begin to want to protect us and help us as much as possible.  I remember in the early days of SeniorNet when our kids were very concerned about the people we would encounter on the site and that is one reason first time meetings were held at restaurants or hotels where a lot of other people were around. Fortunately, to my knowledge we never had a bad experience.  At least your grocery bags are not carried for very long whereas the weed whacker usually takes quite a while.  Glad the you the type you have.

Amy, nice to see you and Kyle had such an enjoyable day.  I guess a lot of people enjoy restoring old cars and there are some beauties.  I don't think Pat still owns any cookie cutters as doesn't make cookies too often and not that type of cookie.

Good morning Shirley.  Hope you can have a day of rest today as you deserve it.

Gloria, it is nice to have some routine things to do each day that we can still do or have the energy to do.  It sounds like your son makes good use of his drone as seeing landscape from above certainly gives a different view than just pictures could do.  Glad you have those grab bars.  I try to keep hold of something anytime I am standing and am thankful for the grab bars in our shower and beside the stool.

Phyllis, glad you finally got your washer/dryer installed.  Don't you wonder why we need some many dials or choices on appliances now.  I guess the snake had a favorite place by your steps.  Like the delivery man I would be very concerned that the snake would return but guess they don't like being around people.  I will see my family doctor on the 16th and will discuss it with him but I don't think there is much that can be done and sure don't want more tests.  I feel I know your all here in the discussions better than any of my family members other than our son.

I remember back to the days of Senior Net and I did actually visit some of the people who lived not-so-far away.  When I was planning a trip to New York State to visit with two friends, Cathy said, "how do you know she's not an axe murderer?"  I relayed this to Phyllis and she answered, "Tell your daughter that I promised to leave my axe in the shed if you'd promise to leave your shotgun in the car."  When I told Cathy that, she visibly relaxed and I had a lovely weekend.  Alice Ham joined us for dinner on Sunday before I left to come home.

I've been to church and one of our members always brings a bunch of tomato plants, healthy and ready to plant for anyone who wants one.  I took one and I stopped and got some dirt fortified with fertilizer and it's planted and sitting out there in the rain.  I don't have high hopes because I'm not very good at that kind of thing but when I mentioned that I hoped they'd all been blessed, Mother Sarah thought that was a great idea and she blessed them all.  So maybe I'll have a little help

I also bought one of those doodads that you can use on your phone or Ipad when your fingers are fat (or flat) enough to pick up more than one letter.  I already feel more confident.

Now I'm off to get some lunch.  I'm hungry and Annie says she's ready for a snack, too.

Jenny, I'm sending you a personal email!

Already afternoon, so I will just greet you all with a special "Hello"

Started out very dreary and drizzling, but it kind of looks like the sun is trying to clear out.

I had a wonderful day yesterday.  Even felt better than I had been feeling.  I am sure getting out helped.

My son and DIL picked me up a little after 8 and we went down to Annapolis and picked up a friend of theirs, ( and mine, too) and we went across the Chesapeake Bay bridge and on down to an area around Cambridge, Md.  We visited the Harriet Tubman museum, which was one of the most interesting museums that I have ever been to.  It is fairly new, and was a beautiful building inside and out. For some reason, I have always been interested in the life of Harriet Tubman.  She was born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and she had such a terrible  life as a slave. She was beaten so badly and hit in the head that had left her with seizures all her life. In spite of all that, she was so instrumental in freeing so many slaves.  She credited the good Lord for giving her the strength and fortitude to do all she did.  The exhibits in the museum were so life-like, you almost felt like they were going to start talking to you.  All the displays and exhibits were so well done and so informative.  Several films to watch and lots to read.  We all agreed we learned a lot.  Next year, 2020, there will be a new $20 bill with her picture on it.

THen, we drove down the road about 5 or 6 miles to a seafood restaurant right on the Cheapeake Bay side of the shore.  Someone had told my son about it and it had gotten rave reviews, but I was a little disappointed in my meal. Was expecting something a lot better.  It wasn't as good as some of the seafood I can get up in my area.  But,  I ate most of it and brought a doggy-bag home, which I will eat for my dinner tonight.

The day started out dreary, but by early afternoon, the sun came out and it was quite warm and humid.  We all agreed that it was a wonderful day, with lots to talk about and good conversation to enjoy.  The friend that went with us, is a girl who my son grew up with and they have stayed friends for many years.  She is always fun to be with.

If I sit around here doing nothing, I get so tired, but here I was gone almost 12 hours yesterday and I wasn't all that tired.  Felt  good getting out. Plus I slept pretty good.

Yes, I have had several "birthday gatherings", but my birthday isn't until this Tuesday.  ANd, then Mother's Day is next Sunday, and that will be another day of celebrating.  I have already been told that we all will be going out to a local place for dinner.  That should finally be the last of the celebrating.  It has been fun!

Larry, always good to see a long message from you.  Hope you will be able to have a better day today.

Jane,  I always liked to go to Ollie's.  Could always find something that I needed.  Hope you have lots of luck with your new tomato plant.  I never had too much luck growing veggies, although we did have a nice garden when my husband was around.

Phyllis, glad that you were able to figure out how to use your new washer and dryer.  I know sometimes it can be intimidating with all the bells and whistles now. Where I live, they just put in new washers and dryers.  They are bigger and hold more than the others, but the washers are both front-loaders and I never liked that kind. But, I am getting used to them, and I do find they do hold a lot more.

Gloria, glad that your son comes every week. That gives you something to look forward. And, also nice that you  can visit with your daughter via Skype.  I should look into that so that I might be able to see my little great-grandchildren more often.

A special Hello to Shirley, Amy and Gloria de  and all the other friends.  Just like someone mentioned.,  it is such a nice group that we have here, and you all are special.

And, Jenny, I, too, remember Michele in my prayers.  I know it is so hard on your whole family.  She is a strong gal and I know she will keep fighting.  And, praying for a good outcome.  So much new treatment is available today and much more on the horizon.

I hope everyone will have a nice afternoon.

Joy

A good Sunday Afternoon HELLO to EVERYFRIEND!

It is CINCO de MAYO, a day that is celebrated here in Colorado with our extreme Hispanic Communities.

LARRY, we did make it to my cousins birthday and enjoyed seeing him and his family.  It was almost a 40 minute drive so we did not stay too long as we had to pick Grandson Luke up at a birthday party he was attending.  His granddaughters husband is Hispanic, and loves to cook.  He made shrimp cocktail in a huge pot, and it was absolutely delicious.  So flavorful.  A bit on the spicy side, but not too too hot!  That is all I had, but Bob also had chicken tacos and the usual fixings and said they were really yummy.  All of the cousins little great grands were there and he wanted them to all experience fixing a banana split, so that was in place of the cake.  We left long before it was time for that, but I know everyone enjoyed it.

We picked Luke up and headed to Dave's Home.  We all, including a Michele, laying on the sofa, watched the Kentucky Derby.  We all picked our horses.....Bob, Dave and I enjoyed a Mint Julep, and then enjoyed grilled Brats and picnic fixings for dinner.  It was fun and enjoyable.  I have to admit, Michele does not look good at all.  The darn chemo is so hard on the body.  The Derby ended very interestingly with the horse in first place being disqualified......as many of you probably know.  My chosen hourse then became #2, and that made me smile.  I chose him because of his name, CODE OF HONOR, inspite of him being #13! IF only I had money on him! Hahahha

LARRY, I am sorry about your fall and I do hope your back side is feeling better each day.  Tailbone bruises can take a long time to heal let alone if you cracked it.  I sure hope not!

JOY, your day with family sure sounded special yesterday.  I am sorry you were disappointed with your meal.

JANE, I received your email and as you know I loved it and appreciated your love and support so much!  I did chuckle at your your daughters comments and understand that many of us have been in a position when we were meeting individually with a SN friend, IF it was safe?  My sons used to call you all my "box friends"!  Now I think they understand how important we all are to each other.  All I know is that I feel extremely blessed for all of you that I have met in person, but feel equally the same about those of you that I have not met, face to face.  Babbling along here, but I know you all understand ❣️❣️

PHYLLIS, happy the washer and dryer were delivered and that you are pleased with your purchase.  YIKES, I think I would have been leery of walking through the Copperheads area too!

AMY, it seems you and Kyle had a fun day yesterday also.  I have always been quite intrigued by cookie cutters....and your new ones sound interesting.

I am off to snap some green beans for dinner.

I must again say that I am so appreciative of all of your loving support and prayers.  It helps me through the day knowing that so many care about Michele and our family.  God bless you all.

💞💞Jenny

I'm watching radar since the tornado warning sirens went off a few minutes ago... rain is coming down but so far not the golf ball size hail (or larger). The storms are moving fast so will wait a little longer before going to bed.  Poor Tom is in a huddle in the middle of the hall, he doesn't like being in the basement (& neither do I) so will have to have more urgent warnings before I head down. The warnings just came on again so guess I'd better go check.  Heard from both sons, they are in line before it gets to my area. All of us have good basements & none in flood zones.  I know there is a logical reason why storms hit at night but sure takes the fun out of getting interesting photos. This is the first time Callie has shown any fear of rain or storms. Tiger isn't afraid of anything, just nosey.... sitting on a chair keeping track of my doings. Callie is under the bench in front of the fireplace and Tom is waiting for me to come down the hall to rescue him. We always hope for no damage but when you live in "Tornado Alley", it happens.  Tiger just patted the sliding door to go outside & when I got up to open enough for her to hear the rain & thunder, she hopped up on my chair. She out wits us all.

Thanks to all for the messages today, I've been to read many times but every time think I should "wait until later" to post. Have done nothing worth while except go to church today & eat too many times. I feel like a toad tonight.

Don't remember where I copied this bit if information, my Word Pads are full of these tid-bits.  "A rough rule of thumb for nurses and physicians is that for every day an elderly patient spends in bed, 1 percent of muscle mass is lost. "You'd be surprised how quickly it can go below the point where you can safely stand up and move".

And from June: "Have a peaceful night dear hearts...give your worries to God and sleep in peace...He will be awake all night anyway. "

I just stopped by to read and I didn't plan to post because I've been feeling "out of it" all day.  The dogs must have known it because they didn't bother me all afternoon and I know I had  temp because I felt it when it broke.  I'm beginning to feel bettr now.

However, my real reason for posting is to tell JOY that if her birthday is really Tuesday, she shares a birth date with one of my favorite people....my DADDY!  We used to share our birthday when I was older and he always made me feel special!  I know everyone is making you feel special!  Enjoy it!!

Good Nighe my friends!  Feel better and peppier tomorrow.

well It is past time to bid you all good Night and sweet Dreams. Gloria that is interesting about the drone. I would post more one on one but for my short term Memory, as for meeting Like we used to at the Bashes like we used to do. I rely on god to guide me each time. I do not however pick up hitch hikers now days. a indecent that happened when a uncle picked up one once. He got in the back seat behind my aunt, Uncle asked him where he was headed. he said to a hospital I do not rember the name of it. the man got out a knife and held it my aunts thought and said go uncle did and when they stopped. he jumped out and ran, the process caused her to have a heartache someone seen the man do that and got the security Guard. ant they treated her fast and she recovered fast. she lived to be  well up in the years but had to deal with heart problems rest of her life, I do not know if that caused it or she would had it to deal with anyway. but now days we have cell phones and can call 911 for help as we did yesterday when we ran out of gas. I best run down and go to bed ,hope to see you all tomorrow. put your weapons up and trust in god.

Good morning everyone..

Looking to be a nice day here. We are off to the city to the RA Dr. Will pick up a few things then head home.

Jane, hope you are feeling much better today. I bought a battery operated weed trimmer and love it. Much easier than pulling on a gas one.

Lloyd, hope today is a good one for you.

Shirley, hope the tornados missed you.

Gloria de, I had looked all over for this size of cutter, never did I think I would get one at a car show!

Gloria, hope the dampness doesn't bother your back!

Larry, nice to see your post and hope today is a great day for you.

Joy, sounds like you had the perfect day with family and friends.

Jenny, we don't care for too spicy of food either. A little goes a long way. Continued prayers for all.

Phyliss, I had to look up copperheads. I don't mind snakes, will pick them up out of harms was but a spider will put me on the run!

Better get my city duds on.....

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning, Amy. Hope you have a good trip to the city.

JANE,  yes, my actual birthday is tomorrow, Tuesday the 7th.  I am pleased that I share the day with your Dad.  If you take after him, I can understand what a special person he was to you.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  After a good night's sleep I feel a LOT better this morning.  The only residual is a runny nose so I make sure the Kleenex is handy.

JOY, I'll never forget YOUR birthday!

The doggies and I are waiting for the boinger and then we'll have breakfast.  Then the day begins.  I had thought I might call off work today but I think I'll be able to do it.  I actually feel pretty good after sleeping most of yesterday and then having a pretty good night, too

I wish you all a good day filled with whatever it is that pleases you!

I can actually see blue sky and sunshine this morning. We are having a couple days break from rain.  I'll enjoy it even though today I will only be doing the normal chores.

I was just looking at what is left of the woodland shade garden that Tom and I planted many years ago and enjoyed very much before the labor got too much for him.  Mother Nature is tending it now and has made it a lovely place for me to look at.  The fern bed has spread and is much larger now and the different types of ferns that we planted are lush and beautiful.  So are the hardy Begonias, Solomon's Seal, Bleeding Heart, Fairy Wings, Lenten Rose, Wood Violets, Heuchera, Hostas, and all of the more than 30 azaleas that we planted. And, the weeds such as English Ivy, Virginia Creeper, and Wild Strawberry are very plentiful but, Mother N. likes them so I do, too.  After all, one person's weeds are another person's wild flowers.   ;)

Joy, I'll say a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! one day early so I'll be sure to remember.  I hope tomorrow will be as lovely as the family celebrations have already been.

I must get some breakfast and start a washing.  I'll be back later....maybe.

Hi Everyone. Our day is starting out with nice sunshine but it is suppose to be partly or mostly cloudy all day long.  Yesterday turned out to not be a very good day as around noon I had another bad call here in my office.  I had been up and using the walker and was ready to sit down at my desk.  I reached back of me for my the arm of my office chair while holding onto one handle of my walker.  I am not sure what happened but some way I lost my balance and fell backward to the floor.  Of course I couldn't get up but finally was able to move out enough so that I could lay down and Pat called Scott, who came right out and was able to lift me upright again.  I landed on my sore tail bone and then my back hit my waste can.  Fortunately I did not hit my head and I broke nothing.  However, I have a bigger and darker bruise at my tail bone and two very large bruises on my back plus several other smaller bruises on my arms.  I dreaded last night but took 2 Tylenol and was able to lay on my sides rather than my back and I slept without pain all night, which was a very pleasant surprise.  It took me an hour this morning to get dressed and out of the bedroom so moving very slowly.  This morning I made a change in where I have my side table so that it is back of me in the area where I fell yesterday.  This is the beginning of the 5th month since the deterioration of my health started and it has been a steady downhill rather than getting better as I had hoped.   Fortunately I have no doctor's appointment until Wednesday morning so plan a quiet day today.  I read all of the postings in the discussions when I went to bed last night using my iPhone.  I am going to just check in today as really don't feel like sitting here at my desk this morning.

Phyllis, your woodland garden sounds like something I would love to see.  I like areas that are more natural than formal.  You planted some things I've never heard of.  My neighbor has kind of taken over my garden area under my kitchen window and while I do appreciate it, she plants tall things and my poor little perennial bulbs don't have a chance.  I can't manage the care of the area and Tom doesn't care about it.  I want to have a work-free area for him after I'm not here.

Today I saw a freighter on the St Clair River with a Netherlands flag and its destination is Casablanca.  Most ships that are on the Great Lakes stay in the US.

We are waiting - not sure if a friend and daughter are stopping to visit, stay overnight or pass on by.  I have two frozen pizzas and will run out to buy a large salad if they stay.  She is a dear friend - she cannot make decisions & her daughter is driving.  Weather is looking iffy for later with possible snow.  Oh, the daughter is driving from Tucson to Minneapolis. They will stop somewhere and we do hope they stay for a visit overnight.

I did have the Pops dollars, and tiger lilies. By the way my Lily of the Valley is purple. people as me for a plant as they have never seen the other then white

Since I do everything "bass akk-wards" I will start with the last post first.  Gloria de.... if you come back as a cat I will offer you what every sounds good to eat & join you (if you let me) with your red/purple had parties!  I never knew anyone to enjoy life more than you......

Oh, poor Larry's tush, not smart to bruise that bone again. Sadly, don't even have anything to show to get sympathy.  :tissue:
You & Lloyd need bubble wrap clothes!

Lloyd, what's this about running out of gas????  Don't you know we are supposed to keep gas on the top half?  Shame, shame!

Phyllis, I am still day dreaming about your woodland shade garden... it sounds wonderful, my imagination has run amuck.....

Sorry you caught a bug, Jane.... hope you get a chance to get over & stronger, does take the starch out of us.

Joy & Mary Ann, it's been such fun hearing about all your parties, Jane's, too.... You know you are loved.

Amy & Jenn, you both have been dealing with so much this past year.... I wish you both a period of peace and love and that both of your families get healthy fast.

Carol, hope your friend gets to stay long enough to catch up with smiles & giggling.

Callie, I think this batch of storms comes from the west, like yesterday. Have not had a chance to see how you are doing since the local weather guessers are so excited about storms that didn't happen here. That old saying about crying "wolf" too often is so true, doubt if I would duck if I saw a tornado danging over the pool. That pool is running over right now so will have to get the cover off & drain down, but can't put chemicals in until it quits raining. Tomorrow the city is going to close our street off to "re-surface"... oil, tar & sand. People that must get out will have to park their cars on another street, but if it rains, it will happen another day.  Wonder how many days we can sit in limbo?  I was going to order from Chewy but had second thoughts since not sure day they can deliver. Had to call Andy to fix one of the bathroom commodes, it had been running for 2 days & I couldn't make an appointment with a plumber.. or the AC man or pool service, yard guys mowed so fast today the weeds just lay down until they left & stood back up.  whine-whine.

I've been munching on Taco Bell meal, cold now so better get it finished. I am SO sleepy. Sweet dreams to all.  Shirley

I've been busy since I came home from work.  Of course, part of the "busy" was he mandatory nap.  I didn't get it until after supper because I didn't think I should sleep this afternoon.  When I was changing my clothes after work, I bent down to look in the bottom drawer of the dresser and I BANGED my head on the top of the dresser.  It hurt so bad that it shocked me and I didn't start to cry until I had the shirt out of the drawer and half way on my body.  Strangely enough, it doesn't hurt much at all now but I didn't think I should sleep so soon after that. How dumb can you get!  You don't think this accident thing is catchy by internet, do you?

Got all the "sitty around" things stuffed in drawers and out of my "dynamo's" way for tomorrow.  After she leaves someone else will be coming by to do a house assessment.  Thank goodness, he opted to come the same day as the cleaning dynamo but a bit later.  I won't have to clean up for him.

PHYLLIS, your all-natural garden is my kind of garden.  No weeds to pull, nothing to trim...just enjoy!

I'm off to bed now.  I wish you peaceful sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Getting here a bit late but wanted to see what's going on with Shirley's weather before I commented.

Goodness, Girlfriend, Your area is getting pounded!  Hope your house escapes the wind/rain/hail/etc.

Not only are we going to get weather coming from the west; what's in your area now is coming south at the same time.  Not Good when "north meets west" over us!  Not supposed to be in metro OKC until the wee hours of Wednesday morning so tomorrow night may be a short one.

However, I have high ceilings and am a sound sleeper so, with my hearing issues, I may miss the whole thing.

Larry, so sorry to hear about your falls....particularly since you hit the same spot twice.  Can only imagine how uncomfortable you are.  Hope you heal quickly.

Joy, what a lovely birthday celebration you had over the weekend.  and

:happybday: tomorrow

Oh, Amy,  you do NOT want to pick up a copperhead snake     Quite a few homeowners around here find nests of them in piles of wood or heavy shrubbery.  NOT pleasant!!

Janie,  so sorry you were "out of it" after a busy time and happy to see you're "back in it" now.

 to those I didn't mention.  I do read all the posts and think of things to say but forget what it was by the time I'm writing  Hope you catch the good thoughts and love coming your way.

Off to  :study: and then to  :sleepy:

  , Everyfriend.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I hope the bad weather chose to go around all of you and that you are safe and sound.  Our temps today are supposed to hit the low to mid 70s but by the time they get there....guess what?  More rain!  We do not need more rain!  I think I'm even getting waterlogged!  But at least Mother Nature didn't choose to add wind and stir up the mix as it goes!

The doggies and I woke up early this morning.  They would have napped  bit more but I couldn't get back to sleep (too much on my mind) so I chose to get up.  I've already had my first cup of coffee and read my email.  The doggies have had their pill and we're waiting for the boinger.

Today will be busy!  After everyone leaves I'll take the trash to the dumpster and stop in the hardware store to check out something.

Enjoy your day and I hope the storms all stay waaaaaay over there!  Maybe Jabip needs them!

Good morning everyone..

Yesterday was good news/bad news.......love the good news that the new med is working and doing what it should . Bad news is we are losing Kyle's RA Dr. and there is no one near to go to. The Dr said he is trying to set up a system of working over the internet, sort of like skype so we shall set. We go to the GP on Thurs., maybe he can find another one close by??

Today I take the van in to get the a/c fixed and the two missing bolts replaced. Then home to work about and may get some quilting done.

Phyliss, I also liked your serene garden...would love to sit out with a cup of tea and watch all the animals, birds, bees and butterflies amongst it.

Callie, how do the people get rid of the nest? Stay safe in the storm!

Shirley, you also stay safe and I hope all your furkids are inside when the storm comes.

Gloria de, we did have a nice trip, even got to see momma osprey on her nest!

Jane, I hope your head is not sore today..and I can't imagine your home being out of sorts that there would be much tiding up before that fellow comes.

Jenny, we did have a wonderful day out , dogs enjoyed the drive too. :)

Larry, do you have a donut cushion to sit on? Happy to read you did bump your head and oh my I do think the bubble wrap club for you, Lloyd and now our Janie!

I had better get ready to head to the garage.
Take care and enjoy your day every one.

Good morning everyone, I did post yesterday morning but cannot find it this morning. 41° and a clear sky to start the day. Sun finally showed up yesterday a little after noon time. When CNA left I went outside and enjoyed it for a couple of hours. Sun felt so good on my back the way I was sitting on the porch. Several other ladies came out and was almost like old times.

PHYLLIS  love the sound of your garden. Sounds like the perfect place to sit and enjoy life.

LARRY  so sorry you fell again, Your poor tailbone has taken a beating this week. I hope that is the last time you fall. I use my rollator all the time but when going to sit down I make sure I am close and put one hand in back of me to feel the seat and make sure I am close enough to sit.

GLORIA de  I love Lilly of the Valley, too, but have only seen the white ones. Do those purple ones have the same aroma as the white ones? If I lived near you I would want some to plant for myself, too.

SHIRLEY  just saw on the news about the storm on the way out there, Hope you don't float away.

JANE  stop trying to be like Larry and accidents. Hope your head is OK today.

Have a good day.

Thanks to all of you who liked my meandering thoughts about my woodland garden.  As I think I said, it is a place that I find peaceful but it is not everyone's "cup of tea".  Those who like well defined paths and trimmed, weedless gardens do not like it.  Tom's sister and husband, whose own backyard was trimmed shrubs and wide open spaces with neatly mowed grass and NO weeds, didn't like it all.  To each his own.

Gloria de, I tried to grow Lily of the Valley when we lived in Dutchess Co., NY, but I was never successful.  I've never seen the purple variety either.  I wish I could sit and talk to you about it and all the other plants that you have grown over the years.

Larry, I can feel your frustration that your body is no longer doing what you want.  And, I worry about the falls you have had recently.  It is so hard to deal with these concerns but I am thinking of you.  Do you know the Serenity Prayer?  I say it to myself all the time.  Accepting the things I cannot change has always been the hardest part of life for me.

The sun is up and I need to be thinking about breakfast and getting on with my day.  I still have to catch up on the laundry.  A lot had accumulated.  BTW, I'm very happy to say that the new washer/dryer are working beautifully.  And, yes, Larry, even though I intentionally looked for appliances that had the fewest "bells and whistles"  I still feel like I need a degree in Engineering just to do a simple washing.  I wonder if ANYONE ever uses all those different features?

Please take care, Everyone. No more falls, please.  And, Amy, please don't try to pick up a Copperhead.  Their bite is very venomous and will make you very sick if it doesn't kill you.  But, they don't like humans anymore than we like them and if you don't threaten them they will just go on about their business.

And now...Farewell and Goodbye.  :hello:

Good morning.  Started out a little foggy, but I see the sun trying to make an appearance.

What a special feeling I have this morning, coming in here and seeing all the wonderful Birthday Greetings. !!  What a great group of friends we have here.  I so appreciate all your nice wishes and thank all of you so much for thinking of me.  If I start naming names, I will surely miss someone.  So, I will just say A SPECIAL THANK YOU  to everyone.  It just gives me such a warm feeling to know all of you and how special you  all are.  I have had several early celebrations, so I think today will be a pretty quiet day.  One of my sons asked if I wanted him to bring dinner, and I said "No".  You have
done so much already.  My oldest son and DIL are away, but I expect to get a message or a phone call later.  And, I am sure the last son will be getting in touch also.  Plus, I have Mother's Day to look forward to, as we are all going out for dinner.  My birthday and Mother's Day usually come pretty close together.

Jane, I am sorry that you bumped your head so bad that it made you cry.  That really makes me feel bad for you. I hope you are feeling ok today.

Phyllis, I accidently left you  thank you over on Norm's page. I always get mixed up when I post on both that page and this page.  So, thank you again.  I have to question your final message above....FAREWELL AND GOODBYE !!!  I sure hope that doesn't mean you are leaving our group.  ???

Larry, hope you are not hurting as much this morning.  When I was growing up, I was so skinny that my "tailbone"  always hurt when I would sit down.  Got enough padding now that it doesn't hurt anymore.  :)

Amy, sorry that you will have to start looking for a new doctor. That is never fun .

Shirley, hope you don't have any real bad threatening weather in your area.

I thank you all, once again , and hope all of you have a great day.

Joy

One more Happy Birthday for you, Joy (and Janie's Daddy)...
I got all the zzzzzzzzzzzs last night but so broken up I am still tired. All 3 cats wanted outside, Tiger wanted in about 1:00am, had a snack of dry food & wanted back out. It rained off & on but no loud thunder. Tiger was waiting at the door again when I woke up this morning so she has had breakfast & already sound asleep on the couch. No sign of Tom or Callie & I always worry about them late for a meal. Did not think I would ever get tired of rain, but this is a bit much! I can hear the ground going "glub-glub". Would you believe I used to could hear the worms moving in the ground after a rain. Proved it many times when we had a garden & I could dig to show off. Like a robin, would go around with my head cocked to hear them.

Jane, I also always worry when hitting my head hard & remember hearing that "if the lump is on the outside you are probably okay, but if NO lump it could be swelling inside & press on the brain".  I wonder if that is really true?  One of my Mom's most difficult missions in life was to keep me alive!  Sincere sympathy, a bump like that can be so painful, the whole head & eyes hurt.  :anon:

Lloyd, I am jealous, hummingbirds don't hang around here long so I have several feeders we set up when camping in Colorado. Love to watch them go after each other. I have one that uses suction cups to attach to the bedroom window so the cats can watch them while laying on the bed. The cats pretend to not see them after a while & I never saw them try to catch through the window, smart cats, can't fool them.

My pool is running over, thank goodness the concrete around is lower on the side away from the house so don't have to worry about it flooding inside. Don't think we will be getting the street re-paved today & sounds like even tomorrow. Youngest son is stopping by when he gets off work, his birthday is Sat and he leaves for "overseas" that day (work).... Has to get those jobs done so he will be in town for his daughter's wedding the first week of June.  He won't eat since he keeps to a routine & this is the heavy work out evening. Guess I'd better get moving, have not had my breakfast & still no sign of Tom or Callie.

Did I tell you that I discovered a beautiful bright red columbine growing in the rock by my front door? It has a yellow "cone" in the bloom. I am thrilled, all the other columbine in front & back are the dusty pink color. At one time I had one that was all white & another that almost navy blue with white cone, but they disappeared. My flowers grow any where they like.

Hi Everyone. We are to be mostly cloudy with some rain chances through out the day and a high of around 84 late this afternoon.  Yesterday was pretty much of a lost day for me as spent all of it, except about 30 minutes here in my office, sitting in my easy chair with heat to my lower back for a couple of minutes and then off and then again on throughout the part of the day I wasn't laying down.  I had a more comfortable night last night and was able to sleep on my back part of the night.  I did get my new gripper socks yesterday afternoon and really like them.  I won't be slipping in them and they will serve the same purpose as my house slippers.  I hope spend most of the morning here in my office as have several things I want to check out.  There is nothing else on the schedule for today.  One of the men in my Sunday School class came by yesterday with a quart and half of chicken noodle soup he had made and then sat down for a few minutes and we visited.  We had his soup as our supper last evening and it was very good.

Carol, a little inconsiderate for your friends not to let you know their plans in connection with visiting you.  One thing I always tried to do when we were traveling it let my hosts how long we planned to stay and any plans in between that would involve meals.

Lloyd, I hope you find the mirror for your RV that you want today.

Lindancer, I am still looking for that "gold" in my golden years as it eludes me other than having options in what I do and how long it takes me to do it.

Shirley, speaking about my falls and medical situation is that is what I have to write about and not a cry for sympathy.  I know our expressions here are of concern and not sympathy except for losses of loved one and friends.  I saw on the weather yesterday that your area is in for some really bad weather today as is the Kansas City area. I agree with you about the weather casters crying wolf.

Jane, glad you take the mandatory nap when you need it and not push beyond that.  Sorry about your hitting your head on the top of your dresser.  It is easy to do. Is the house assessment for tax purposes?  Noisy aren't I but inquiring minds you know.

Callie, I expect you are like us in not having a basement or other really safe place to so in the event of a tornado.

Amy, I think doctors are using the Internet now with patients a lot.  Doctors seldom touch us anymore, at least that is my experience, and video works should work well as there can be an interaction between doctor and patient.  This is certainly better than just talking over the telephone.  However I hope you can find another RA doctor close by that is taking new patients.  We have two donut cushions and Pat said she saw them not too long ago but can't remember where and searching so far has not been successful.  I think I will just order another one so I can see if it helps.

Gloria, glad you could enjoy the sun yesterday.  Do you ever use a heat pad for your back.  I find it is very helpful to ease the pain for awhile.

Phyllis trimmed shrubs and wide spaces in gardens are nice if you are able to maintain it.  However, I am like you and don't mind the type of garden you have.  I know the Serenity Prayer very well and have used it often and it is used in each Al-Anon meeting and I have attended several hundred such meetings.  I think accepting what we cannot change is probably the hardest thing for most people but is what has given me a lot of comfort and still does.  I don't think one can find many appliances anymore that are simple to operate.  My son has a steam feature in his washer that he really loves and he sweats so much and it does such a good job on his clothes.

Joy, I could use more padding around my tailbone.

🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂
         🎈 J O Y  🎈

Mostly cloudy here this morning.....more rain and snow is headed our way😢😢

Our youngest son and his wife are currently flying home to Denver after spending  a few days in Cancun, attending a gathering of our DIL'S fellow employees.  They will stop by and pick up Oliver the Doodle on their way home as he has been staying with us.

LARRY, as you can tell we are all concerned for you and feel so bad that you had another fall.  I sure wish I could share some of MY ample amount of padding for your back side!

AMY, I am sorry to read that the RA Doctor is leaving the area.  That seems to be happening more and more these days.  I hope you will be able to find a new one.  I know of several people now that are being doctored on line....the only concern I have for that is if the patients do not have access to having their blood pressure checked and the like.   Many comment that their doctor never does ant "hands on" care anyway, so they do not see it as a issue.  Best of luck on the search.  Oh I bet those doggies did enjoy the outing!

SHIRLEY, a red Columbine sounds VERY special.....I bet it is pretty!  I do hope your weather has settled down, but sadly there is more storms headed our way, and ultimately headed for you😢😢

JANE, hitting one's head is never good......but I sort got concerned when you said were going to lay down.....might not have been the best thing to do.  I hope you had no other ill effects from the bump!

I just had a alert come on my screen about a shooting at one of the high schools here in our area.....oh I do hope it proves to not be something awful!  So scary.

I wish  EVERYFRIEND a good rest of your day.

Jenny

This has been a busy day!

Even though I didn't have a list made out I decided that, if there was a handicapped parking space available at the grocery store, I would stop in after my hair appointment. If not, I wouldn't bother.
A lady was backing out of one  just as I pulled up.
I knew I needed 4 things.  I came home with four sacks full!!!

Have also changed sheets, done laundry and made hummingbird syrup.  Was going to bring in the feeder to wash it before filling but a bee objected....and I didn't argue.  :)  Will do that after the sun goes down and bees go to bed.

Larry, a bedroom closet is behind the shower and on an interior wall between the two duplex units. That's about as safe as I can get without going underground or having a "safe room" taking up most of the garage.  Not sure I could handle going into one of those and shutting the door without having a panic attack.  I am rather claustrophobic if I don't think I can get out.

Amy, so sorry you're having to deal with doctor changes.  My GP of 40 years is retiring at the end of June.
I really like both of the Physician Assistants and may use of them but I've heard good things about the young (very young!) doctor who is coming into the clinic so I'm going to him for my Wellness Check in July and we'll see what happens.

I don't know how folks get rid of the copperhead nests - maybe call Animal Control or just shoot them.

Joy, what do people in your area do if a nest with babies is discovered?

Gloria,  so glad you were able to sit outside.  I've been able to do so a few times lately and am really looking forward to the weather settling down so I can do more.  Do I understand that your son no longer has his apple orchard?  I know you'll miss that.  Always made my mouth water when you wrote about making applesauce.

Jane,  I agree about the wisdom of staying upright and awake after you hit your head.  Isn't this the day your company will be there?  Hope you're having a "ton of fun" with them.

Storms are "supposed" to move into the metro area "between midnight and 3:00 a.m."  Maybe I should take a nap?
Oops - there goes the dryer "yoo hooing".  Guess not......

Callie, I just saw your question for me.

There are several places where you can take abandoned animals like that.   My son came home from work one night and found a couple very young squirrels laying under a tree. He called a place near by and he could take them there. He had planned to go back to see if they survived, but I don't know if he did.  They can take baby rabbits or any kind of wild animals like that.  I would imagine you would call a different agency if you had found a raccoon, or an animal like that would be considered having rabies or a more wilder animal.

Joy:  I am sorry that I had just written Happy Birthday to you then stopped to print the sad news of the school.

Jane:  I am famous for opening a top cabinet door and hitting my noggin - so now, I really really try to raise my head slowly & look before standing -- it took years for me to understand  :idiot2:

Amy:  I just had to change my favorite doctor because of insurance change at their office so know the dreadful feeling.  I sincerely hope you find a perfect answer to your doctor search.

Shirley:  Glad you have such a pretty flower - hope your rain simmers down.  It is cool here and rain plus perhaps a hint of snow this week.  At least we are not dealing with rock slides here but it is not good in the mountains.

Larry:  It was the daughter's decision - she makes all the decisions for her mother and that will never change.  We hope to see our friend next fall.  That is not like my parents - they both had their own ideas and we went along with their wishes (most of the time).

We live close and drive by two schools (one is jr. high, and the other is a Sr. high school.  My only gripe is the seniors don't stop their cars at stop signs & drive too fast.  Otherwise, we like to watch them practice track, baseball and especially the band.  Tears shed for the children and parents.  This is especially hard on the first respondents too.

well it is Late as usual i get interested In a good western movie and time gets away. so I bid you all sweet dreams. and if was not for bad luck I would have no luck at all, when a was mowing the yard the other day I ran over the tong end of the Joe dolly and bent the latch. when I tried to straighten It I broke it. cant repair it so have to buy a new Ball hitch to get new parts to fix it.It is welded on,so can't just change it. Have to take the good parts I need out of it and switch to  the old one. Hope to see you all in the morning.

Good morning everyone..
Looking to be a lovely day .again here :) We are off to the city, the "other" way to get Kyle's glasses. After that we are going to travel across country to stop at the quilt store and chocolate factory and then home.

We are not looking forward to going through all this again to find a Dr but it can and will be done.

Cutting this short as we need to soon get on the road..

Enjoy your day everyone..

As soon as I heard the name Highlands Ranch I thought of Jennie and Carol.  I prayed that none of Jennie's grandchildren went to that school.  I don't know what we can do about these terrible events but the local police there seemed to have done it the right way in that they responded so quickly and perhaps saved many lives.  So frightening to send your children off to school and then have to worry that they will be attacked.  It makes me remember back in the Cold War days we were all worried about a Russian nuclear attack and all the school children had to have drills and get on the floor in the halls and cover their heads.  We had friends that went to great expense of digging and stocking a bomb shelter under their house.  When I asked him what he would do if it happened and their neighbors came to them seeking shelter.  His reply was "I would shoot them."  I was so appalled that I thought I would rather die than want to live in such a vicious world as that.

Callie, if we shot any copperheads that we discovered we would be in more trouble than a snake bite would give us. Firing a gun within the city limits is a definite "do not do"!  If the snakes are a real threat to us we would call animal control but since we do not have children to look out for or pets who might get bitten we mostly just stay alert and stay out of their way.

I have been concerned about Jane's head and Larry's back and hope that all is better today and the pain has completely gone.

Amy, I hope you can find a new doctor close by and that something can be worked out.  I have  been with my doctor for 35 years and I am afraid she will want to retire soon, too.  It isn't always easy to find a doctor close by who will accept Medicare.  All of them say that Medicare rules are too restricting and that it is very slow to pay.

I have a free day today.  Laundry is done and grocery shopping won't be until tomorrow.
What kind of mischief can I get into?  I'm thinking.....

I won't say Farewell and Goodbye any more, Joy.  I'm not leaving SS.  I'll just say Talk to you all again soon.

Good morning everyone, 50° now and will be in the mid 60's -so says weather gal this morning. No rain either, that is the best part. BUT rain for Friday and Sunday and Monday. Hope they are wrong again about the future rain. Too much already.

PHYLLIS  for myself I like the way nature plants flowers and plants, I do not care for the precise plantings. Do not like your "Farewell and Goodbye" sounds like you are leaving us. You cannot desert us.

JOY  I have no backside so have to sit on a cushion. Believe me I have tried so many different ones and after awhile I get another new one hoping it works better, even tried a donut.

LLOYD  a tenant here used to hang a hummingbird feeder in front of the porch and we all enjoyed watching them. Then the witch of a manager told her she could not do that. Anything we enjoy she will not approve.

SHIRLEY  if we get much more rain here the ground will be soggy with it.

LARRY  I have tried a heating pad but it never helped. So don't bother anymore. My CNA does give my back a good massage on the days she is here, feels good afterwards.

JENNY  another crazy shooting in another school there. Glad to hear they caught the shooter.

CALLIE  when I was at my sons at Easter I could see some of the apple trees with leaves coming out but could also see some that were dead and where he had already cut some down, Sad to see. He worked so hard out there after working as a welder all day.

CAROL  nothing worse than someone saying they will stop by and never show up, that has happened to me and next time they said that I felt like saying -don't bother.

AMY  good luck finding a new doctor that you both like,

Have a good day.

good Morning everyone. we are doing a repeat of yesterday. Light rain and thunder Boomers on  and off. close and then off in the distance, sure put a halt on my working on the Joe Dollie. so like AMY we will go to town but looking for parts not a doctor. Have a great day. Phyllis I think like you it is sad how is our way of life in so many ways. we are so busy we think we do not have time or wont take to love our neighbor as our own self. I thin of a saying i heard long time back,if you have a million friends you have not one to many, if you have one enemy too many. so i think we need some how get closer and leave it to god. have a great day.

Good Morning all!  Yesterday was a busy and time consuming day.  I'm sorry I didn't make it in but it had nothing to do with the knock on my head.  I do have a small lump (on the outside) and a very sore to the touch spot but I think those are the only after effects.  Thanks for asking.

LARRY, the assessment yesterday was a gentleman from the Union County Housing Authority.  They have a program that assists senior citizens to make repairs to their homes that will make them more energy efficient and safer for daily use.  I applied some time ago and this was the final appraisal following inspections by an electrician, a heating and insulation expert, a radon inspector, and several others that I've forgotten.  I've been approved and they are going to do everything on my list and a few things that their inspectors have recommended including installation of a new furnace.  I'm elated!  It's going to save me a bundle and make life a lot easier and more comfortable.

I can't imagine having children in a school that suffers an attack like that in Colorado!  How scary to send your children off to school each day and wonder if they are safe!  My heart goes out to them and my prayers are with those who are suffering losses!  It must be one of the great tragedies of life to lose one's child at an early age!

I'm off to do my stint at Wally World later today.

I know how it is to lose your doctor.  Mine retired about 4 years ago and the I wondered what I'd do.  The first time I needed to go in, I got the replacement one and after we did all the necessaries I said, "Did you take Dr. C's place".  She answered, "I guess I did"  I asked her if that meant that she was going to be my regular and she said she supposed so and she sat back and said "Let's get acquainted."  The first thing I told her was that I hoped she would be long term because I was getting older and didn't like a lot of change in my life.  She answered that her oldest child had just started kindergarten and she had promised her that she can graduate high school here.  I said, "That's probably long enough."  She looked about 15 at the time and I've grown to love her!  I hope those of you who are making changes have the same experience.

I wish you all a good day full of love and joy!  NO SNAKES! AND NO STORMS!

Good morning.  A little busy here this morning.  Over on Norm's page, I was the first one there this morning.  It is a little slow getting started over there.

I did mention that I seemed to have heard Jenny and Carol mention the area where the school shooting was. Although I had the name Highland Ridge and not Highland Ranch. I thought that was the area where they both were in.  I just don't know how people deal with kind of tragedy.  So senseless.

Thank you, Carol, for the birthday wishes.  I think all my birthday celebrations are over for this year.

Gloria, where I live, they also do not allow bird feeders anymore. They claim that the droppings from the birds draw rodents.  Several people had put them up and the people did enjoy watching the birds.  Our manager isn't considered  a "witch", but she does have some ideas and rules that a lot of the residents don't like.  She has always been ok with me, but I don't have much dealings with her.  I go down and pay my rent every month and other than that, I rarely see her.  She does seem to take a lot of days off, which she claims she is doing training sessions, but lots of the people really complain about her not being here as much as she should be. The activity director winds up having to do a lot of her jobs when she isn't here.  She is overwhelmed with her own work and then has to fill in for the manager at times. I am sure so many places like where we live have similar problems.

It is supposed to be a cloudy day with scattered showers later.  I have a feeling that most of the country will be having a very rainy summer.  Most of our rainy days seem to happen over the week ends.

Jane, that is wonderful that you were approved to have some of your repairs taken care of.  I have never heard of those kind of services in our area, but since I am in a retirement place, I don't have to worry about those kind of things.  But, I am happy for you.  Anything to save some money is a good thing.  Hope you have a good day at work. Hope your sore head will soon improve.

Callie, I am not sure how people deal with snakes around my area.  I really have never heard about a big problem with them. When we lived up in the woods, years ago, we would see little garter snakes every once in a while, and they sure didn't pose any big problems.

I have had breakfast, and I think I am just about finished with things on the computer, so will have to look for something to get into.

Have a wonderful day.

Joy

Hi Everyone. We are to have a mostly or partly cloudy day all day with a high of 85.  I have a doctor's appointment with the kidney doctor in about 2 hours.  Scott will take me so I can use the transport chair.  I did have a good day yesterday but not as peppy this morning. I tried to put on my shoes this morning but my feet were too swollen so have had to switch back to my house slippers.  I don't have much time to post this morning so will limit my comments.  I have read all of the postings.

Callie, I have never understood why builders don't make a closet a safe room.  It would add a few more dollars but there are so many of us that really have no place to go in a tornado situation and we see the picture of houses completely gone.

Carol, I really have to watch getting into the car as have bumped my head on the door frame several times over the years.

Phyllis, my backside is getting better each day although I am still using the heat when I am in my easy chair and have to work to find a comfortable spot in bed.

Gloria, I ordered a new orthopedic type donut that will be here today and hope it works well.  It isn't the traditional donut ring and was a bit on the pricey side but if it works it will be worth every penny.  Your manager must be a miserable person.  Sorry that you get no relief from the heating pad.

Lloyd, I liked your comment about friends.

Jane, what wonderful news for you regarding the approval following your final assessment.  I hope you will be able to work less hours now that you won't be facing all of those home maintenance expenses.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – A Colorado teen set to join the U.S. Marines this summer is credited with helping subdue a gunman during a shooting at his Denver-area school on Tuesday.

The Marines said Brendan Bialy helped saved lives during the attack at the STEM School Highlands Ranch. One student died, and two suspects are in custody.

"Brendan's courage and commitment to swiftly ending this tragic incident at the risk of his own safety is admirable and inspiring," Capt. Michael Maggitti said in a statement. "His decisive actions resulted in the safety and protection of his teachers and fellow classmates."

Bialy joined the Marines under the Delayed Entry Program, and is scheduled to ship out for basic training this summer.

Student Nui Giasolli told NBC's "Today" show that multiple students in her literature class jumped at the shooter, including the student who was fatally shot.

"They were very heroic," she said of the students who confronted the shooter. "I can't thank them enough."

HELLO from a very dreary/rainy day in the Mile High City!

We are appreciative of this nice rain we are receiving however the cool down tonight with the rain turning to snow...not so much!

Unfortunately, as you all probably know by now, the alert that I got on my iPad yesterday as I was posting did turn out to be quite serious.  Thankfully it was not at any of my grands schools, but it was quite close to my and Carol's home.  One of my cousins was a student at Columbine at the time of that dreadful shooting and sadly her 9 year old son is a student at the STEM school where the shooting was yesterday.  Two times THIS MONTH my grands schools have been put on lock out and a parent has to come to the school and sign them out with picture ID. All after school sponscored activities are cancelled.  How sad that our children are having to live in this terrible reality these days.🙏

LARRY, good to read your backside is feeling better.  I hope the "donut" will help ease your pain.

PHYLLIS, your "farewell and goodbye" did get a rise out of us....sure glad you did NOT mean it the way it was taken🥰🥰. Bob and I were talking today about our fire drills and the Cold War Times where we went to the hall ways and put our heads between our knees....like that was going to help IF a nuclear bomb hit!  Sadly, our young ones have so much more to deal with now😢😢.

Many want to get on the band wagon and blame guns and this and that.......I personally think there are SO MANY factors involved.....and the top of my concern list is VIDEO GAMES.....they are so graphic they make me ill just the little experience I have seen them.  I am afraid young people today have become numbed to the reality of life and death!  The other concern is our pushing God out of everything....schools, pledges and the like....so very sad.

JANE, I can well bet you have a sore spot on your head......just want you to feel better.  So pleased to read about your getting help from the country housing authority for Update to your home.  That is very good news.

I best post this before I do something dumb and loose this....I have been working on this off and on all day.

Have a good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenn

I'm off to bed soon.  Our Area Agency on Aging is running a program tomorrow morning and Friday morning called Healthy Steps for Older Adults.  I signed up for it and it's at 9:30 tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to this.  So often they have things that look intrestng to me and I'm not able to go but I'm off tomorrow and I got someone to work my hours on Friday so I can attend both sessions.  I says that you will learn how to prevent falls and how to stay active.  Each session is 3 hours long and they include Fall risk screening, exercise demonstrations, b book, resource information, healthy snacks and door prizes.  And everyone is supposed to "wear comfortable shoes".  I think it sounds interesting.  And there's more than one other person in S&F who could use this class!  I wish I could take all of you with me!  And it's FREE!

Now I'm taking the doggies out one last time and then heading for bed.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, I hope today will be a repeat of yesterday, got up to 70° and no rain. Spent a couple of hours outside before CNA got here and when she left I went out again. Quite a few were on the porch and it was almost like it was when I first moved here. I think we were all waiting for the spring weather to get here and get out in the fresh air. Even when it is cold I try to get out for a bit of walking and fresh air. I would like doing it when it is snowing but do not know how the rollator would handle then. The maintenance man does keep the walkways clear, even in the middle of the night he would be out every hour with his little plow.

LLOYD  last year we did have a meeting with someone from the main office here and the witch had calmed down for awhile but is starting up again. She would be happy if we stayed in our apartments and paid our rent as long and she had nothing to do with us. The owners like her because she saves them moneys at the end of the year. Great comment about friends and one enemy. So true.

JANE  how wonderful for that program that will make your life better. I dislike finding a new doctor. I could find one in the city but want one close to home. I see a NP now, only one doctor and she is very busy so has several NPs to help. I like the one I see very much, she takes time to‪ liston. She has helped me more that the 2 doctors I had after I retired, after 10 years with both of them I thought it was time to find someone who did not rush and not listen.

JOY  we all feel that the manager here just not like the elderly and does not know how to treat us. Never a smile or a good morning from her. She takes a 2 hour lunch, comes in late and leaves early. She is supposed to work 8 hours but hardly works 6. The maintenance man at times works a lot of over time but she will not pay him time and a half. The office told her he deserves that but she will not do it. That is one way she saves the company money.

LARRY  where did you find that new donut? Expense is worth it if it helps give comfort. At our ages we deserve comfort.

CAROL  sorry your train of thought got off the track. Hope it gets back on the rails without any problems. ;) I saw on the news last night about the student who attacked the shooter. Brave young man. He should be a great marine.

JENNY  I am with you about all the violent games available to kids today. Another thing is to many structured lives. Was better in our time when we used our imaginations for games to play. Today even toddlers know how to use tablets.

JANE  they have had programs here like that, so many went at first and soon only a few went so they were cancelled. At times some were scheduled at the times my CNA was here and they cannot stay in our apartments alone so I had to pass on those meetings.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Can you believe they are calling for sn*w!! We do have hummingbirds back in the area and I hope they find a warm place to stay.

Yesterday went well and we ended up going to the chocolate factory, picking up some for us ,our neighbour and a friend.

Then onto the quilt store and I gave my credit card a good work out. Nipped over to the world famous bakery and pick up some Chelsea buns for neighbour and us.
We are off again to the Dr. to find out the results of the MRI..please say a prayer that all is well with Kyle.

I am in a hurry again and will post more when we get home but just want to say, Jenny, now is the time we NEED God in our lives, not push him out.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning. Like Phyllis wrote, I am here also.  I do feel better this morning. My back is a lot better. Hope it will continue that way.

Gloria, your manager sounds like she is related to our manager.  A lot of the residents are always complaining about the same  issues you mentioned.  And, yes, I agree it does take a special type of  person to deal with "old" people on a daily basis.  I will say that she is pleasant when she meets up with someone in the hall. As I said earlier, I  really don't have much contact with her, except to say Hello when I see her, or when I have a meeting to renew my lease. But, I do know there are some residents who have had very disturbing meetings with her.

Phyllis, I am sorry you woke up with a headache  and hope it improves as the day goes by.

There are a few things I plan on doing today, so I guess I better get busy.  I will try to get back later.

Hope everyone who have been having health issues will have a better day. And, the same goes for all the friends.

A robin has been sitting on a limb outside the kitchen, chirping away all morning.  She is probably ticked that there is snow in the tree.

The tragic news of another school shooting has rocked this area once again.  Last night was supposed to be a support and healing service for students (arranged at a large facility.  However, two politicians ranted about gun control and the students walked out in protest - chanting "Mental Health".  I agree with the students.  Also, does the media even mention the girl shooter thought of herself as a male?  Thoughts to ponder but I sure do not know the answer - I do know my family was brought up with strict rules and we knew our faith and kept close to family members.  We had guns in the house too - so that makes us very suspicious to some people.

Joy:  Nice to read your back is feeling better.

A lovely bunch of tulips just arrived and they should fully bloom in a day or so - our son & DIL in Montana sent them and we had a chance to talk with him - so, this is a perfect day for me anytime I can talk with one of the children.

Jenny:  I think of you and Bob often and know you are focused on your DIL recovering - she is in my prayers.  You too!!

Gloria, all I can say is I do wish your Atilla the Hun aka witch  ends up in a place ruled by someone worse than see is. Karma does happen and it couldn't happen to a nicer person than her!

Better go put things away and then rustle up something for supper.
Hope everyone is feeling better, no headaches, back aches and  tail bone aches.

Good afternoon.....dreary day here again with snow flakes falling.  There was a bit of accumulation over night, but now the snow has all melted.  It will be cold again tonight....around freezing, so the plants will remain in the garage for a day or two more😢😢

AMY, I am so pleased to read the good report for Kyle.  I KNOW that sigh of relief well and so happy for you both!

GLORIA, there is nothing finer than to be able to get out in the fresh air and get some vitamin D!  I am over this cold weather.....but can never complain about the moisture as we all need that so badly.

JANE, happy for you that you well be able to attend bot( sessions of the classes.  They sound like the6 will be well worth your time to attend.

CAROL, we, too, agreed with the students, as they went there thinking they were going to morn the death of their fellow student and then the political group takes over the mic and starts their  rankings!  WE  had to listen to the news report a couple of times before we even understood exactly what they were saying was going on!  It made no sense.....mind you, we were already frustrated over our AVS loss🤬🤬 They had a great season and ca; sure hold their heads high!  Maybe there will be a Stanley Cup for us next year.  My heart dropped when Nathan got injured right away.....Thank you for your continued prayers....we so appreciate them.

Michele and Dave visited one of the oncologist this morning and he will do another gamma knife procedure on Michele's Brain a week from tomorrow.  Monday she hopes to find out the results of the Pet scan.....telling how the tumor on the lung is doing 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I decided I needed to get a haircut TODAY!  My hairdresser was expecting a bundle of joy and IF I did not get in, I would not be able to see her for a couple of months.  Imagine my surprise when she tells me she HAD the baby.....and is only working now because the little one is still in the NICU.  Baby came two months early, but is doing fantastic.  Her lungs were developed enough that she needed no oxygen but will be in the hospital until she is near to 5 pounds.  She weighed 3 pounds and now is nearly 4 pounds and doing fantastic.  This is the hairdresser s LAST day and she w8ll be off for two months and then going to a different shop.  IF I did not get in today I would never have seen her again.  My good luck, for sure.  Only problem is, I think she cut my hair with the idea it was going to be awhile until the next cut as it is really short🤣🤣

I wish you all a good rest of your day.

Amy, I am so happy to read that your husband's MRI  was a good one and no new issues. I can understand how you feel.  It is such a good feeling, I know. I have some tests coming up in the next couple months.  It is always such a relief to hear good news.

I have had a productive day.  I made chocolate pudding to use up some milk that was about to expire, some jello salad, made some whipped cream for my pudding and didn't even get in a nap.  I had a long talk with one of my sister-in-laws, where we always try to solve the world problems, but that never seems to happen.  We always have so much tom talk about even tho  we talk a couple times a week.

It has been a partly cloudy day, but the sun is shining brightly now. Hard rain due tomorrow.  A nice Saturday and then a rainy Mother's Day Sunday.  I am not going out until later in the afternoon, so hopefully, the rain will have cleared out by then.  And, I am not going very far, and I can be let out right at the door.

My daughter-in-law called me this afternoon from N.C. They spent 2 1/2 days visiting the Biltmore Estates and then are now in another town and will go onto Charlotte tomorrow to be closer to the airport for their trip home on Sat, morning. She had tried to call my on my birthday, but was calling my cell number and I don't use my cell phone except when I go out.  She did say the weather has been kind of cool., but still pretty.

I am still thinking what I will fix for supper. I have a couple ideas, so need to make a decision.

Carol, I thought  I had heard that one of the school shooters was a girl, but wasn't sure about that.  I just don't know when all that is going to stop.  Seems like it  is happening way too often, lately.  We live in such a disturbed world.  So very sad!.

I hope everyone has a good evening.  Hopefully, will greet you all in the morning.

Hi ! Jenny.  You sneaked in on me/

I hope Michele will have good news from the next scans.  I had the Cyber Knife treatments twice, several years apart.  Mine was for a tumor in my back and they were very easy. I know the treatment for the head is a little more involved, but I continue to keep her in my prayers. Hoping for good news from the PET scan also.  That waiting is just so  hard.  I have been getting  them every 6 months for a long time. And, I know  how apprehensive it is to wait for the results.  The actual PET scan isn't that bad, either, except for the fact that you have to be so  still.  I know how hard it is on the whole family.  You just feel so  helpless.  But, I pray for her to be able to remain being strong.

Now, off to get some dinner.

Hope everyone will have a good evening.

Sorry Everyfriend!  I fell asleep on the sofa and I'm too weary to think right now.  Today's session was good...full of information.  Looking forward to tomorrow.  Sleep peacefully and may God be with you all!

Here I am this morning and to use my mother's words, I went to bed "so late I met myself getting up"!  I'll be off to feed the doggies soon and then I'll be getting ready for my morning session about NOT falling!

I have to say that a lot of what they say is familir because we all tell it to one another on here.....things like, make sure you have something solid to hold onto; make sure the chair is in place before sitting etc.  But the gave so good info as to what to do "if you do fall".

Annie knows it's almost time for the boinger.  She's whining at my elbow.  I'll try to be back later!  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

I still had the headache when I came home from the grocery store yesterday so I just did nothing for the rest of the day except stare at the tv and sleep.  All is better today.

I'm so glad for you and Kyle, Amy.  I love hearing good news like that.

Jenny, I'm sorry about your hockey team.  Our team, the Carolina Hurricanes, had the first game of their series with Boston Bruins last night and unfortunately they lost but they have 6 games left in the series so maybe they will turn it around.  The Hurricanes arena is only about 10 miles from my house but I've never seen an actual game, except on tv.  I like it that way because I don't have to fight the heavy traffic to get there.  :)

Cloudy today with still more rain expected.  I am more than a little tired of all the rain but I am enjoying the lush trees and plants and the green, green grass.  Everything is beautiful to look at!  Except the mosquitoes! :tickedoff:

Good morning.  Just making an appearance, as nothing has happened so far this morning. So don't really have much to talk about.  I slept better last night and do feel better this morning.

It is supposed to be a rainy day today, nice tomorrow, and rain again on Sunday.

Jane, it is great that you have been able to attend the seminars about how to "take care of yourself".  Every once in a while we have had different people come here to give talks about avoiding falls and other examples of taking care of yourselves and they are very interesting and give a lot of pointers to help us "old people".

I have to use a walker and I am just so careful all the time.  I sure do not want to fall.

I need to get myself moving. I hope everyone is feeling good this morning and have a nice day.

Good Morning everyone. It is 45º and bright sun here in central MO. but only calling for high of 58º. I am batching today Nancy is up to our oldest daughter's baby setting the great grands, Louisalyn our oldest daughter dose that normally. but she tripped and fell and broke the ball in her left shoulder socket. Have a great day everyone. about louisa's Name I was in the Military when jef and her were borne, I was gave the privilege of naming her.
and that was quite a ordeal. at that time in the state of NM. female children had to have three generations of Maiden names attached to them. suck to them such as Gonzales, Lopazes Hera. the old Lady in charge of that sent me a letter telling me I would have to do that. on the blank spaces of her letter I answered her telling her she was my child and I would name her what her  mother and I like. if she did not like it send for a absentee birth certificate from MO. we exchanged correspondence several times with me  and her,not too good of language on my part.after the third time or so i took the letter to the hospital to the caption doctor that delivered the children and showed him. he laughed and said ok Lloyd i will take care of this.he got hold of the right people of the state. they had to call a spectacle season and change the law. so i was responsible for getting history changed there, new mexico no longer has all those maiden names on girl children's Names.

I forgot to say Louisalynn Has no middle Name But with that long of a name she only needs one. she has on her own only except on a few legal documents shortened it to Louisa.

Good morning everyone woke late so this will be short. No sunshine today and a chance of showers. Mother's day will be on and off rain. Glad I am not going anywhere.

PHYLLIS  worst kind of headache is waking up with one. Have not had one since I retired and that is 23 years now. Just realized it must have been tension/stress headaches I used to get.

JOY the witch here seldom smiles or says hello to any of us living here. She is all smiles and so nice to the ones who come to apply or finally get an apartment. Does not take long for new ones to find out what she is like and we do t have to say a thing to them about her.

CAROL  on TV when they showed one of the shooters I thought it looked like a girl and not a boy. There seems to always be a way for those who want one can get a gun even illegally. Then again those applying to buy one do not seemed to get checked out like they should. Sellers are only interested in making money.

AMY  as the say "what goes 'round comes 'round." That is a favorite saying of my daughter. The witch sure does not believe in the Golden Rule or the Ten Commandments. So happy to read the result of the MRI. God heard all the prayers from people who never met you or Kyle.

JENNY  it will not be till the end of May here before anyone starts putting plants in the ground. Woke to frost on every thing the beginning of this week. Would not mind a week of no rain here. Of course by mid summer prayers will be for needed rain. Prayers continue for Michele and all the family.

JOY  My Mother's day will be quiet, one son is on vacation and the other comes every Saturday. Of course I will have my date on Skype tieh my daughter.

LARRY  hope you are feeling OK today,

LLOYD  no more accidents for you either.

Have a good day.

Rain has stopped for now..

Made 3 batches of banana orange muffins, sent some home with the fella that delivers our wood.

Janie, no the wood doesn't see.....well maybe Birdseye Maple but the woodman sees!! :2funny:

What had me on pins and needles about this MRI was I took my friend to get a CT scan then we were going to hit the quilt shops and maybe a quilt show too but, when the scan was done they told her, her cancer was back, brain cancer this time. Needless to say we just turned around and came home. So thank you all for your prayers....

Better get this floor washed.again.....with 8 paws that track in mud after the rain it doesn't stay clean long......oh well this too shall pass.

Shirley, are you feeling better?

Off I go...

Hi Everyone. Happy to be able to say this is has been already and hope the rest of the day will be the same.  Yesterday I had a lot of shortness of breath and was pretty weak.  I had a great nights sleep last night.  Pat and Scott just left to go to Costco for some shopping.

Yesterday was a very sad day for Scott as he had to have his beloved dog put to sleep.  He has known the day was coming for a long time.  Pat asked he wanted her to with him to the vets and said yes.  He had made the arrangements yesterday morning when he had to take his sick cat to the vet and dug the grave before he came to get his mother.  The cat  had disappeared yesterday and they couldn't find it but she finally came back to the door. He was afraid she had gone away to die and that would have been a double troubling day for him.  He is so sentimental and loves his pets as they are a lot company for him. He doesn't handle grief very well.  They came back to the house and we talked him into staying and spending the evening with us and got him busy helping his mother fix ribs in the Instant Pot and when he left he seemed to be feeling better.  I want to write some comments here this morning as feel up to it.

Carol, I saw on the news the students walking out in protest to politician turning what was suppose to be  for them into a political event.  I also agree with the students.  I have to wonder why the politicians were even there.

Amy, that was the news I know you wanted regarding no tumors or strokes.  Enjoy that chocolate.  I still like chocolate but eat very little candy since I lost my appetite this year.  That truck load of wood sounds like a lot of work ahead for you.

Jenny, sorry that Michele is facing these new gamma knife procedures after all that she has been through and still enduring.

Joy, I have always liked pudding and chocolate or butterscotch have been my favorites.  It is not something that Pat makes anymore other than in an occasional pie.  Biltmore Estates is a great place to visit.  We have been there a couple of days in day past.  We certainly do live in a disturbed world and it seems to be getting more perilous all the time.

Jane, glad you found the session to your liking.  Two days in a row is a long time.  I hope you got a good nights sleep last night and it sounds like the session today should be equally informative. That is certainly a timely subject at our age.

Phyllis glad to read that you are over your headache and feeling better today.

Lloyd, I never heard of such thing on a birth certificate.  I guess it helps in ancestry work.  I see you changed history and that is no longer required in New Mexico.

Glora, we are joining you in another day with no sunshine and our chances of rain have increased.  I generally don't get Pat anything for Mother's Day but asked Scott to pick up a dozen roses at Costco this morning as something a little special.

Larry, I hope Scott is feeling a bit better. It does take a while for the hurt to ease, not sure if it ever goes away but it does ease some. Pets become our family ,they wiggle into our hearts in a heart beat.

Larry, give my sincere sympathy to Scott for the loss of his dog. I'm one that feels like my pets are like little humans and are my responsibility, so painful, and it doesn't go away for a long time. Glad the cat is there for him to go home to.  By the way, when I was teasing you about getting bruises that you couldn't show, I was thinking about my own bruises and can only remember one time having a big yellow, green & purple one on my thigh and wore short shorts every day to show off my wound. I was much younger then.  ;)

We have not had any rain for 24 hours, the river has not gone down so am afraid some of the trees & flowers may not make it. One year a nice big cottonwood died from too much water.  Everything down stream is flooding so hard to say when it will go down.

I am so sleepy I can't concentrate, cats are fed & I need to eat & just fall asleep. Peace be with all of you & God Bless.

I'm going to bed now.  I have to be chipper in the morning because my gardening daughter is coming back to do more planting.  She'll be staying overnight and we're both going to Cathy's for brunch on Sunday to celebrate Mother's Day.  My SIL does the cooking and the ladies just eat!  He does a nice job and there are always lots of smiles and lots of love!

I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone.
What a beautiful morning it is!!  Went to bed with the frogs singing and woke up to the bird singing. Managed to get the floors washed yesterday and I also did laundry and will hang the bedding out this morning. Our load of wood came and hubby piled some. Our neighbour came over and helps to pile later on in the afternoon.

Today will be to get the rest of the wood piled after we take garbage to the dump.

Lloyd, I will send it to you.

Better get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, looks like it will be a nice day, already 54° but tomorrow rain is in the forecast. Cannot complain about the rain here after seeing all the flooding in some southern states.

AMY sorry about your friend.

LARRY  it is sad to see a loved pet have to be put to sleep. We do get attached to them. Perhaps after a time your son can get a new dog.

SHIRLEY  hoe you do not have that much flooding on the river.

JANE  I know you will enjoy your weekend with your family.

Have a good day.

Good morning.  All is quiet here this morning.  I made Cheesy Cauliflower Soup for dinner last night and it was good.  We are having pizza tonight so I don't have to cook.      My son and dil sent me a gift certificate for dining out as a Mother's Day gift but since restaurants are so crowded on Mother's Day I think I will save the cert. until later when they are quieter.  Therefore, I will be cooking tomorrow but I have a freezer and pantry full right now so I'll have plenty of choices as to what to have.

Sorry about Scott's dog, Larry.  That is always hard.  But, I'm happy you were feeling better and hope that will continue.

I need to get some breakfast so will be up and away.  Take care, Everyone.

It is very convenient because I don't
have to go looking right away.

And I see many that I might have missed.

Love the card, Gloria. I had 2 of the nesting dolls (given by 2 of my kids different times). Eventually I gave both sets back to the kids so they could show them to their grands as they got older. In both cases they had neglected to buy for themselves. Thanks for the card & Happy Mother's Day to you, too.

Cats are fed & I'm going to boil half a dozen eggs to have on hand, quick protein snack with no effort. The coffee pot just stopped gurgling so better get with it.

Sandy, I'm another that has cut my own hair since high school. I use those "Schick injector" type blades. I went into panic mode some years ago when I couldn't find them, but searches uncovered a new source (probably knock offs) but they work for me. My eyes are not doing well so I do the pull out a wad of hair & measure agains the other side & whack!  I can probably count on one hand the times I've had someone else cut & took months for it to get back to suiting me. Mine needs a trim every few weeks so sure saved a lot of money in all these years.

It is cloudy here this morning, have not heard weather news but I have no plans for the day except to text my youngest son a Happy Birthday. He is heading over seas today, for a couple weeks (work) but stopped to visit me earlier this week to exchange gifts. He will get back the week before his daughter gets married so lots on his mind.

Hi Everyone.  Just checking in today.  I had a rough night with no sleep and not feeling good today.

I will comment briefly  regarding my appointment with the kidney doctor.  He was not happy with the test results on the sodium or the protein.  So he has prescribed salt tablets and emphasized I really need to eat more protein which should be at least 50 grams a day.  Yesterday at Costco Pat found some new Protein drink that has 30 grams of protein.  It is peaches and cream flavor and is very good.  I had the first one of them a little while ago.  She also found some new nutritional bars for me that have 21 grams of protein and ate of of those in a chocolate chip cookie dough flavor.  I hope these things will help me get more energy.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been busily getting ready for my gardener (my daughter, Christy) to arrive today.  She's enroute right now so should be here soon.

It's a bit cloudy and cooler today than yesterday.  But it's a good day for working outside, no rain and no sun beating down on us.  She always brings something from down there to add to what we've already planted.  Today, I don't know what it will be.

I guess I better go find my shoes before she gets here and maybe give the doggies their snack so they don't get to begging.

I hope you all have a good day today.

carol No NO politics for me, the closest I physically to a palliation was we lived next door to Harry Truman as I was a baby in arms. My mother and Margret Truman as young Ladies were best friends, but that only lasted until her dad got to be president, Margret never seam to not know her any longer.Harry used to hold me on his lap and tickle the bottom of my feet and laugh at me cruel my toes. as a tanager I was driving close to his house on the square in Independence Mo, he was setting on the front porch I circled the block and stopped got out of the car and started to the house. he got up and went inside. one of the Security Guard's met me at the front gate. I told him who I was and what I wanted, he said he is tired and went n for his nap.
I never bothered to go back I do not try to force my self on anyone. I still am friendly and still getting fatter and older. Have a great day.has stopped raining and getting clearer.

Larry, I am interested in what your doctor had to say about the sodium & protein.... we do need to learn from each other's problems so I hope you don't mind my questions (gonna ask, anyway).  Does he think the sodium problem is from the "water pills" or have you cut back on salt so much?  I know I need to eat "red" meat to keep my body running, I miss the vitamins from that when eating so much chicken. How about hard boiled eggs, would that help with the protein?  Cas would show a low potassium & iodine at times. My theory is most fast food or frozen dinners probably is not made with iodized salt, but no back up fact for that. Hope you can get a better balance, the drink & munchy bars sounds good. I can hear my mother pushing us to eat more... "you can't run a car without gas & oil".  As a kid I was never hungry & perpetual motion so burned up a lot of fuel.

I ordered 2 new 32GB SD cards for my camera. I don't "store" the photos on other devices anymore, the SD cards are so much cheaper than years ago I just leave all the files on them. Have photos stored on so many different types of devices from the mini CDs that the first digital camera used to CDs I created.... and hearing many of the new computers don't come with a CD drive, I'm not sure this one does, that's a shocking thought!  It does!!! First time I've opened it.

Lloyd, interesting about Truman. Read a book about his years after being President, how little he received in comparison with the more recent retired Presidents.

Jane, sounds like you have a full week end. So nice of the kids to come help & eat with you.  I did get out & weed whip the weeds in the berm. Just hate to put round up or other poison on the weeds with the birds & cats exposed to it. Maybe the day will come when I care more how nice it looks, but for now the critters count more. Can't fight that tough old Bermuda grass & the mulberry trees that keep popping up. I whack them down & do put the stuff on the trees when they get tall enough that the cats can't reach the part I cut off... goes to the roots to kill that plant but a dozen more pop up all around. The elm & mulberry are bad enough but little redbuds are as thick as grass in places. I've pulled them out & put in buckets to give away & have young ones taller than me (too big to dig up) growing everywhere.

I didn't realize it is past supper time. Need to take a shower & wash my hair so better get busy.

Good morning everyone, well it is morning but raining again. Just  heard local weather and tomorrow will not be much better. Glad yesterday was a perfect spring day and I spent most of it  outside. Only 44° now and will get colder as the day goes on.

LLOYD  hope the rain let  up for you so you could get the hitch ready to pull your van and you can get going on your next trip in the RV.

PHYLLIS  when older son takes me out for Mother's day it is always on a Saturday evening. Even then it is pretty crowded.

SHIRLEY you are very welcome. I cannot make cards anymore so that  is the best I can do. I will have to head for the card folder to see what Bubble and Patricia have created.

LARRY  hope that high protein helps you.

JANE  your garden should be looking beautiful this morning. I miss having flowers planted that I could cut and bring into the house.

CAROL  you reminded me of not reading me of when I first star ted in Bis' Nest and could not read the notes I jotted down until Oscar told me about notepad to type on and copy/paste into the post box.

SHIRLEY  I read recently that folks are using seasalt more thinking it is less sodium but it is not iodized. That is the only kind I have.

Have a good day and all Moms have a great Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Day to you.

Overcast here too Gloria and they are calling for more rain..again.

We are out for breakfast with the neighbours and his 92 yr old Mom . Not much else will be done for the day, just letting our sore muscles re-coup for the next load of wood. Kyle surprised me with a dozen roses.

Hope everyone has a special Mother's Day and Jane hope your muscles are not screaming.

Good Morning Everyfriend!

AMY, I do have a couple sore spots here and there but I bet Christy will have more than a few!  She's not up yet.  When she comes here, I try to keep it quiet in the morning so she can sleep.  At home, she gets up very early and she deserves to get a little extra now and then...especially on Mother's Day!  She's an excellent mother herself and a terrific daughter to her own mother!

We planted a gorgeous rhododendron yesterday an got a large section ready for other things.  We haven't decided what else goes there but we did hit a garden center for ideas.  And she has a couple feelers out to friends who have extras....like Shirley!  If I lived closer to you, SHIRLEY, I put my dibs on a couple of those redbud trees.

LLOYD, what interesting memories you have of Harry Truman!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS!!

Happy Mother's Day

About as perfect weather as I can imagine. Sun is shining, not much wind and 63°. Had a few geese come by to see if I had any bread left over from yesterday. I took them out a few slices & fed down by the water so they get the point about not coming to the top. Gloria, think you would appreciate the day, does not feel damp at all outside & don't even need a jacket in the sun.

Jane, sure wish there was some way to send you a whole bunch of these little redbuds. I never knew they were so prolific, but I kid you not, every crack in the driveway has one sprouting up as well as the berm & any place the mowers can't get to. They grow so fast I can't keep them pulled out before they are too big to pull.

Amy, how many cords of wood do you burn in a winter?  Do you have a stove to use wood to cook on in summer?  Wood is so expensive here you can see the dollars going up in flames..... seriously. My furnace came on last night, been off & on all week but the damp cold is more noticeable than winter cold, I think. Got to call & have the AC man come out & check it out, think it will be hot-hot in another few weeks. I always dread summer.

Hi Everyone. I don't know what happened here as had written a my beginning paragraphs that were rather long indicating I had a good nights sleep thanks to taking a benedril and Pat helping me sleep on my side by putting a pillow under my back.  I guess I had written too much explanation.  I did take my shower this morning as felt like doing it but by the time I got dressed I had spent most of energy so plan on taking it easy the rest of the day.  I was late getting to my office and just now finishing my breakfast and it will soon be time to rest and listen to last week's Church service.  I will probably watch some of the golf today if it isn't rain delayed again.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers and those who have filled mother's shoes.

I am going to limit comments here today as it will soon be noon and I like to be done here in my office by then and like to post here in the mornings.

Carol, not sure there is such a thing as common sense in politics at least sometime I wonder.

Lloyd, interesting early life experience you had with Harry Truman.  I think he is my favorite president because he spoke the truth and said what he thought.

Shirley, my doctor didn't think the sodium problem was from the diuretics and wasn't taking them when I had the severe problem with sodium that put me in the hospital.  I have never salted anything other than popcorn and ear corn.  I prefer the foods natural flavors.  Don't you belong to Costco?  Even if one doesn't you can mail order from them but pay a higher price.  The high protein drink is called Premier Protein and the peaches and cream is great.  the Protein bar is just called Kirland Protein Bar.  I had the Chocolate Brownie one this morning and like it better than the Chocolate Cookie Dough one, although it is acceptable.  I think there are 8 of each in a box.  I don't like hard boiled eggs. Unfortunately I have no appetite now and eat very little in the evening.

Happy Sunday/Mother's Day.

Amy,  I have neglected to mention how pleased I am that Kyle had a good report from the doctor. Hope that continues.

Jenny, This may be a poignant and special Mother's Day for Michelle.   I hope she is well enough to enjoy it.

Shirley, my thermostat has been set on Heat for the past several days.  May need to switch it to Cool this afternoon because the sun is actually shining and most of my windows are on the west side.

No family around today.  I did receive flowers......two weeks ago when All My Children came for the afternoon and planted annuals in the patio pots, flower bed planters and amongst the perennials (some of which are blooming) in the flower beds.  if I knew how to get the pictures off my cell phone. I'd share the colorful array.

Probably wouldn't have had anyone around, anyway since #1 son has a pulled thigh muscle, #1 dil is dealing with some vertigo, #2 dil is having pancreatic issues (again) and #2 son, in addition to caring for her, is absolutely swamped at work with landscape design projects.  (I know that's a good thing - but he's beginning to wish the company sales staff wouldn't do quite such a good job  ;) )

JaneS,  sounds as if you, too, will have a colorful yard.....except you've done more of the work yourself than I did.

The Youth did the church service this morning and it was wonderful.  There are several talented musicians in the youth group - as well as a well-trained bell choir.  The instrumental music was lovely (NO guitars or drums!!!!) and the speakers were very articulate.

The two of us from the OTL Bunch who didn't have family plans had a Braum's hamburger after church because our favorite diner was closed up tight.  Can't imagine why they'd be closed on this kind of holiday but.... ???

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day

If any and all you girls got cut flowers as I got for Nancy. to make them Last lot longer, cut the bottom of steam off at a angle about 45º. ( 3/4") take a (1 quart of water hot as you can stand on inside of your wrist, like when you are making formula. 1 teaspoon of sugar 2/3 drops of bleach and repeat the above every 3 or 4 days. I got Nancy a dozen red roses and took her out to King chef buffet. we have had rain light and thunder storms on off all day. but sun has won out for now. Have a good day rest of.

Good evening and late HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY wishes for ALL of our special mothers❣️

I celebrated my Mother's Day with my two Colorado Sons yesterday, as they both had tickets to playoff game 7 of the Denver Nuggets vs the Portland Trailblazers.  They offered to buy Bob and Me a ticket but we kindly declined.  I no longer enjoy the challenge of going for another live games or concerts for that fact.  Sadly, in spite of the Nuggets being ahead in the majority of the game, they managed to loose by 4 points.  So now our Nuggets are out as are our Avalanche.😢😢😢

Tomorrow starts a stressful week with the uncertainty of what is going on with Michele.  We are all on high anxiety, especially Dave and Michele.  Once agin, I thank you all for your continued positive thoughts and prayers.

My HAPPY Mother's Day gift to myself is a trip to the dentist tomorrow or when ever I can get in after breaking off a tooth.  I was not eating or anything....just bit down and a tooth was in the bite🤬🤬 It is a crown, so not sure what is in my future......more than likely just another expensive crown!

I wish you all a good night of rest......

Jenny

Good soggy morning to everyone,

We were to get our chimneys cleaned but not now. Rain put a damper on that too!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Mother's Day..no work at all.

Shirley, all in all we burn about 12 cords, not so much in the garage/shop anymore and we only burn in the fall/winter/early spring . This is done in a cookstove  and I also cook off of it. We let the fire go out come good weather and I use the electric stove. Food tastes so much better though cooked on the wood stove.

Callie, thank you. We are also glad to get over that one!

Larry, hope today is a better day for you.

Time to get moving.

Take care and enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, it is good, no rain today but a cool 42° and the sun is showing her face. It poured all day yesterday.

SHIRLEY  we agree with summer heat and humidity. It never feels damp when it is snowing but sure does when it rains.

LARRY  like you I have no appetite anymore, I eat because I know I have to. I drink 2 Ensure high protein containers every day. I was told to drink 3 of them a day but cannot do it.

Time for me to get ready for the day, will enjoy a back massage today when my CNA gets here.

Have a good day.

good morning everyone. I hope you all had at least as good of mothers day as we did, we went out to a buffet for noon meal. Bumped in to some Kinfolks we do not see very often as they were leaving as we getting there, a nice but short visit with them. we both had our own taste, Nancy had here salmon and I pigged out on my favorite shrimp fried and boiled both+lot of other food.the problem with that is we both at too much, (not good for the waste line) it is 44º foggy less than 200 feet visibility. the sun is trying to burn through an is supposed to by 10 AM. Nancy and Denver are on same wave length's they are both getting 2 teeth filled/repaired today. Have a good day everyone just as you like it.

Good morning from North Carolina.  Cloudy and maybe more rain again today.....maybe.  Whatever!

Laundry day and that is hard to believe because I'm pretty sure everyday this past week has been laundry day.  I'm still catching up.  I'm doing all the winter blankets, throws, etc. so they can be stored away for next winter.  The joys of home keeping!  ::)

Yesterday was nice, quiet and relaxed. Long telephone conversations with son and dil in Virginia and older grandson who had the day off from his work at Dulles International.  Younger grandson was working so I will catch up with him later.  David and I will try to get out sometime soon and use the restaurant gift card I received now that the Mother's Day crowds are over.  Besides people taking Mothers out to eat, this weekend was also graduation for many of the colleges in the area so it was super busy everywhere.  And I don't deal well with all of the crowd noise coming through my hearing aids.

I hope it will be a good new week for all of us.

Hi Everyone.  It is another beautiful day here in South Carolina.  I have a doctors appointment that we have to leave for before long so am just checking in for today.  This is not going to be an easy week as also have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and another one Thursday.  Hopefully that will be it for awhile. I did get a good nights sleep last night and that always helps but had a number of things I needed to get done for my appointment.  I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday but just going to check in this morning as really don't have time to make individual comments.

Great family photo, Lloyd. I couldn't pick out which kids were actually yours but they are a nice looking bunch!

Also, Gloria, thanks for the memories with the "old gang".... and love the photo of your daughter by that monster cactus!  I will never understand anyone wanting to live in all that sunshine  ;) ... but the cold wind has lost a lot of being ideal weather for me the older I get.

Heard on the news this morning about the island (Dauphine?) off the coast that had storm damage & was thinking the one that Joan's son had a house. Anyone else hear it?  That "little" red head must be nearly grown by now, how old?

Time to feed cats & me so will visit later tonight.

Just getting around here.  I slept in a little longer this morning, then had to get myself ready to go down to get my hair done.   I had to wait a while, as the lady before me was late, but that was ok.  I didn't have anything special to do today.  It was after 3 when I got back and then had a little nap.

I had a very nice Mother's Day. Went out to dinner with my family.  Had enough left overs to have another nice dinner tonight.

it has been a really dreary, cloudy, rainy, COLD day today. I had to turn my hear on this morning.  I was so cold. It was only in the 40's all day.  Where is Spring??  So tired of the rain and cold.

Larry, hope you made out good at your doctor's appointment.

Nice family picture, Lloyd !

Phyllis, glad that you got your new washer.  I know how good it feels when you get it all caught up.  No big hurry for the winter things, tho. Take your time. !!!  It will always be there.  LOL

Sounds like all the ladies had a nice Mother's Day.

Have a good evening.

G'morning all. I'm still here AMY,  :),Like everyone else of a certain age ! I have been struggling with various problems,so my computer time has been rather erratic these past few weeks, health and Hospital appointments, as well as trying to decide to sell our house and buy into a retirement home or sheltered accommodation (Apartments), not easy to decide from a wheelchair !, nevertheless, decide we must, :-\.
I did explain to Lloyd that we had put our house up for sale and I would not be online so much for a while, but I expect he forgot, however, I do have a quick look-in and have a quick read of everyone's situation, aches and pains etc !, it's nice to know others have had or are having the same problems !, you realise then that our place in the world is not such a lonely place after all :), so for the moment, it's just a quick Hello and I shall continue to look in and  follow the 'chit chat'that makes it such an interesting place to visit !, again ,thanks Amy and others for the enquiry  .
                                    Cheerio,for now. Roley.

Good morning everyone..

Another soggy day here...dull and damp too. Want to clean out a cupboard that is in need of rearranging. I did the fridge yesterday and ,amazing how much gets tucked away in the back of it.

VON isn't coming to latter on in the day, I would think they will be stopping these visits soon. It has been two years they have been checking on Kyle and I am so thankful for their visits.

Roley, I am sorry you are feeling under the weather at times. Not an easy decision to put your home up for sale but one we all must make sooner or later. The good thing is you can pick and chose what you would like, not have it done for you so that is a blessing. Take care and pop in whenever you can. Waving to you from across the pond.

Phyliss, hubby has the same problem with his hearing aids so we tend to go at the opening time of a restaurant and it is not so busy then.

Better get a move on it.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone.  Another beautiful sunny day but to be a bit cooler.  My activity for today is another doctor's visit later this morning.  This is one I anticipate as it is with the foot doctor to trim my toenails.  I suppose my appointment yesterday was good and but the results I am still trying to get my mind around.  She confirmed what I have known in that my congestive heart failure has gotten a lot worse  the will continue to decline in the months ahead.  She has scheduled me for a echo on my heart and back to see her in mid-June.  She also is referring me to see a Dr. who runs the Congestive Heart Failure clinic at the hospital in Augusta.  However, the thing that really caught me blindsided was she is referring me to Hospice so I will be meeting with them in a few days to gain more information and to see how that would work in my case.  She told me that doesn't mean I will be dying soon and that they provide services even 2 years out.  I asked about keeping the doctors I have now and she said I would do that.  I am extremely tired today as only got about an hours sleep last night even with taking a benedril and having my Chamomile Tea.  I just couldn't get comfortable and it was a really long night.  I guess it will take me a few days to really come to acceptance of what is ahead for me especially the Hospice.

Bubble, thanks for helping LLoyd out with the picture.  You are a jewel.

Jane, that is a beautiful flower your daughter planted for you.

Roley, good luck on finding just the right retirement home and hope your house sells quickly.  Good to hear from you today.

A good Tuesday HELLO EVERYFRIEND💐💐

Yesterday was a bit stressful and I am sorry I did not get in to tell the news regarding Michele.   The scan report showed that there was little to no change in the size of the tumor on the lung.  The oncologist wants to continue with the chemo for four more sessions, then recheck the tumor again with another CT as he feels that it is best to keep a continued regiment so it can be true test of what is going on.  The thought on the size is that it was nearly four weeks before the chemo was started, from the original CT scan, hence the tumor may have grown a bit and now is truly smaller in size. The oncologist is backing down on the amount of one of the chemo meds in hope that it is the one that is causing Michele to be so wiped out and making her have the worse side effects.  She WILL have the gamma knife procedure done this coming Friday.  I thank you all for your continued  positive thoughts and prayers....they are SO appreciated....

I enjoyed reading the comments about Mother's Day for you all.

We are enjoying some very nice weather right now, and it sure feels good.  Sadly this Saturday and Sunday the weather guessers are calling for rain....😢.  Mark and Megan will be here with our Darling Grandson Jonah, and I was hoping we would all be able to be outside enjoying our brief time together.  We WILL enjoy our time together no matter what, of course.

ROLEY, best of luck to you finding the best retirement home and getting your current home sold.  One of the biggest challenges is that YOU have made this decision and now you just follow through.

SHIRLEY, I was just looking at a picture this morning of Joan's little red head Grandson, Finlay as I snagged a picture of him off of Face Book, with hopes of getting someone to post it for all to see.  Yes, Son Joe has a beach home on Daulphin Island.  Is this current storm damage?  I will have to go check it out.

I have had many interruptions so I had best post this before I loose it....

Have a good rest of your day...

Jenn

Good evening Larry.  0I had to write to you t0 night,  I joined hospice Aprile 11.  Best thing I have ever done,  Medicare takes care of everything now. New wheelchair, table, I could even have a bed. I like my own bed. Aide comes in 3 times a week, does wash, makes my lunch or anything I ask jer to do in 2 hours.  Nurse comes in once or twice a week and supplys everything I need for  my bad leg.My button is hooked up to them. I have emergency nurse or doctor I can call anytime of night, Plus I can call a nurse in any time of day. they call back within 5 min. I can have a volunteer on week ends to take me out anywhere I want to go I still get the same prescriptions me.  Only they are delivered right to the door.  The nurse did say every state is different.  Fla. is one of the best You are allowed one doctor.  One of your choice or theirs. I chose there's You can drop the program when you want too.  I never knew they had such a Nursing program. At there small hospital they have a small place where children can play  I was offered Hospice or Nursing, after 3 weeks they would think nursing home.

Well today was not one that was expected. I made a phone call after we got in from having coffee/tea out and after that all my/our plans went kerflooey. The Optometrist wanted to see Kyle at 1.20 pm  and it is about an hour drive so off we went. Rain off and on all the way but a nice day for driving. Kyle found out the answer to why his vision problem and this Dr is forwarding the information to our GP. I had to cancel the VON and she will come tomorrow.

I see we lost another great actor..Tim Conway passed away :(

Larry, take each day as it comes, rest when you need to. I read Gloria De post to you and I know I would rather have that and be well monitored by nurses and Drs.Sounds like a well organized system. I agree with the other we do NEED you for a long long time. We are happy with just a hi or a long post from you.

Jenny prayers that all goes well on Friday..

My git up and go got up and went....time to rest.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

My mind is whirling with questions about Hospice!  Gloria de, sounds like a great program where you live. Cas' mother had Hospice when she decided to refuse surgery for a blockage & instead had a stomach pump installed in the hospital before going home. The doctors tried to convince her she was making a mistake & said she would not be allowed to return to the hospital OR have further treatment once she started with Hospice. That was in TN. My brother turned to it but my understanding was he had to drop Hospice after 6 months and go on "home health care" which was very expensive in MO (someone said $9,000 per month). He had lung cancer & COPD as well as other problems, including major reactions to meds he took.

Larry, I can understand your shock at the suggestion of Hospice.... my thoughts as well. I think we probably both have outdated impressions of the service.  Hope you can sleep better after your meeting with them later in the week.  For sure we do not get a lot of zzzzzzzzzs when our brain is trying to plan ahead for "the unknown". Maybe they can help you get some of your muscle strength back, sure is difficult when we take a few days off. You realize that WE are not ready to let you give up and will be nagging (it's in our DNA).

Jenn, happy that "the kids" are coming for a visit, good medicine, for sure!  Michele's doctor sounds thorough in his treatment and hope she will do better with a little less of the worst part. My heart aches for what she is going through, but keep reminding myself how awful my brother in law looked after months of chemo and 30 years later he is still going strong with no cancer since. The news people were interviewing residents on the island about how they watched the roof of a building sailing by, quite a storm.

Amy, I had not heard that about Tim Conway.... my friend & I were talking about Doris Day & her movies & singing... I don't think she made a movie or sang a song that I didn't like!  We also agreed that we miss the Dinah Shore Show... I just did a Google & see there is a whole different meaning to Dinah Shore (not the Chevy Show now!)   Can picture how good your house smells cooking on that wood stove, but that sounds like a lot of wood to me! I haven't had a fire in my fireplace in years, I think it needs the chimney cleaned but #1 son thought it looked okay when he had a look... I'll think about it another day..........Hope Kyle's vision improves. Mine is giving me fits changing. Used to be a little near & little far sighted with astigmatism in one eye. This latest Dr has not fit my glasses right in 3 years & last time he handed me the latest scrip for glasses with the caution that, "probably won't help until you get the cataracts removed". I was disgusted he would charge me for the scrip if it wasn't going to help.... so will get another diagnosis/doctor before considering cataract surgery... one that does NOT do surgery! He shows astigmatism in both eyes & think that may be why my eyes do not adjust to the glasses from last year.

Cats had their supper but I haven't, so better think about it. It was HOT here today, mid 80s.... (Gloria, I am whining). Right now it is very still, sun is bright & I should be out walking down to the river. I hear some geese calling to see if I have any bread for them. Haven't seen any babies this year, they lose them when the river gets high. I hopped over to see the photos & left a message there... many thanks to all that share! Special thanks to Bubble for posting.
