I arrived home from work to find all the windows and doors wide open. Apparently our puppy had had an accident.

"Yeah, it really stank," my daughter told me. "In fact, when we first walked in, I thought you had come home early and were cooking dinner."

Thought I would try again to see if I could post.....and I see I can!

We arrived home late yesterday afternoon.  We sure had a wonderful weekend.  Thank you for the nice anniversary wishes.

It was so beautiful in Vail.  We enjoyed our drive up and back.....
The boys are such a delight to with.  It was nice to spend time with Kurt.  We will have the boys here for a night next week as they will come down a day before their mom flies in from Boston.

LARRY, Bob and I were talking on our drive home how we remember when Vail was small and not much there at all.  You would not believe how big it is now. There are so many places here in our state that sadly have grow; way too much and not the cute areas they used to be not that many year ago.  Aspen, for one.

I best say good night and get this posted.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Nice overcast day here. Hope it stays that way! Slept in this morning ,was up a couple of times in the night with the dogs.

Our trip went well, yes I did help the towns economy by bringing home fabric and chocolate...

Not sure what today will bring, just take it as it comes.

Hope Pat is feeling better and hope she has a speedy recovery.

Better get a wiggle on and get dressed to meet the day.

Bubble, thank you for the new start page and the giggle!!
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning.

Just wanted to greet all the morning visitors before I get started on "something" ?

It is a kind of hazy morning,,  with the sun trying to come out.  However, it will be warm and humid .

I am really excited today.  My grandson is opening up his own Barbershop in Manchester, Connecticut.  It is a dream come true.  He has come a long way in a very short time.  Cutting hair has been a "hobby" for him since he was in high school, and finally decided to go to school to further his "hobby".  He went to a school in New York, graduated,  worked in a shop for just about a year, and now, today, he and a friend are opening up their own shop.  I am so proud of him. He is a very special young man with a great personality.  He will go far, I am sure.

I have not experienced any of the problems that some of you have mentioned.  Glad things seem to have gotten fixed.

Amy, glad that you had a good shopping day,  yesterday.  Fabric and chocolate were a good choice.  I am in the process of getting rid of most of my fabric stash.  I really don't plan on doing any more sewing and it is all just taking up room.  However, once I get rid of it all, I sure hope I don't find myself regretting it.  I don' have the ambitions that I used to have.  Still will keep my sewing machine.

Hope everyone will have a great day.

Joy

I'm up but not awake yet.  It is so nice to see so many cheerful messages.  I'll wake up eventually and then I might know what I'm doing!

I read where Detroit had a bad storm and has many flooded roads.  We never had a drop.

Hi Everyone. We had a very rainy night getting about 1 1/4 inches of rain and more on the way today.  However, it will stay in the low to mid-80's again today.  Yesterday afternoon Pat and I went to Ruby Tuesdays to enjoy their $5 salad bar and it was good.  We made it there and back between rain storms.  This morning I plan a trip to Costco for several items and hopefully Scott will go with me.  Then this evening we expect that Scott will be out to spend a couple of hours with us, something we really enjoy.  We just hope he doesn't have to work tonight as this is suppose to be his day off.

Joy, I have found taking antibiotics leaves one feeling less than peppy.  Hope you were able to get a nap yesterday and feel more rested today. Congratulations to your grandson on being able to see his dream come true and opening his own barbershop.  I hope he has great success and a good personality goes a long way in establishing a business.

Jane, thanks for the explanation about the rocks in our ears as I didn't realize they were so small.  June said she wasn't able to post here yesterday and it looks like the site could have been down again for awhile yesterday.  Hope you found many smiles on the faces of your customers going through your checkout line today.

Amy, it sounds like you had a successful trip to town yesterday.  Chocolate is good for us, at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Shirley, glad you didn't have to cry over not being able to post.  I have my money on the cats winning in your bout for understanding who is boss!  :)

Bubble, once again thanks for getting us started on the new month and sharing a couple of your graphics as well as a little humor to brighten our day.

Rammel, I like the quote you have at the bottom of your posting and it is so true.

Jenny, glad to see you had such a wonderful weekend and hope it was a very restful one for you both.  I bet the boys are looking forward to their mother arriving to spend sometime with them in Vail.

Good morning everyone, sorry did not make it in yesterday. Every time I go anywhere I am not up to doing anything much for a day or 2. As usual my doc gave me a new prescription that might help with the pain pills I have. Pharmacy has not called yet to tell me it is ready for pick up.
Looks like we might have thunderstorms this afternoon. Humidity is up again. Oh how I am looking forward to the crisp clear air of autumn. For such a big chain company CVS pharmacy is not that great. They started here about 15 miles from where I live and now they have stores all over the country.

Glad I am not the only one who could not get in here. Have to get moving. Have a good day.

This post was written this morning, but I have not been able to post it until just now!

We ended up picking up our granddaughter and taking her to the Denver Zoo.  It could not have been a better day....overcast and cool.  It was delightful.

Kate is spending the night, and is already in bed, so 8 had best do the same so I will be ready in the morning.

Pleasant dreams to all.

GOOD MORNING.......
First day of August
and HAPPY 142nd BIRTHDAY, COLORADO❣️

It has been a delightful morning.  Enjoyed my coffee on the patio this morning.

Happy to see so many checking in....seems that everyone is able to post once again.

LARRY, I am not aware of Ruby Tuesday’s having a $5 salad bar.  Is this with a coupon, on a particular day, or what?  I will have to check it out.  Yes, the mama will be so happy to come and be with her boys in Vail, as will the boys.

We are off to get a bit of shopping done.

Have a wonderful day, EVERYFRIEND 🦋

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We had rain last night and we're supposed to get an afternoon of it today.  The doggies and I are waiting out the boinger for their breakfast so I may have to take off and do that.

This morning the doggie groomer is due to come.  So later today I'll have two beautiful, sweet smelling, clean doggies and an empty wallet!  However, I feel like this one is on the house.  I got my property tax rebate check day before yesterday and after I deposited it, I got out this years taxes to pay them and discovered that my income tax return from last year covers it.  So the rebate check is gravy!  It's always nice to find out I'm covered!  Doesn't happen often but when it does....WHOOPEE!

JENNY, enjoy your time with your little granddaughter.  They grow up way too fast!

Well, I think I finished this before the boinger went off so I'll with you all a good day.  Grab it and make it yours whatever it brings!

Good morning everyone..

We didn't get the t storms last night.....dogs are happy about that!.

General work about the home today  and some sewing maybe. Friends picked up the van ,she had been sick so could do it earlier. and they are so pleased with it. We really liked that van also but no need to have two any more.

I am more than ready for the cooler weather, we have never used the a/c as much as we have this year...and that is mainly for Golden girl and her breathing.

Jane, what a nice surprise..not often we come out ahead of the game but it is sure nice to win one at least once. Doggies will feel much better after they are groomed. Do they run around after the bath?

Jenny, what a fun time with your granddaughter. How is your Dad doing?

Lloyd, I hope you are feeling better now...I hope you can take it easy today .

June, so nice to see you and I know you miss your pc...do you have any idea of when you will get it back?

Joy. don't you just love the fact that there are so many "somethings" to start and none that we really want to start ? :)

Larry, hope you got to spend time with Scott..

Gloria, I hope the new meds work for you.

I had better get a move on or the day will be gone.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hi Everyone.  It is another overcast morning with more rain expected this afternoon.  Yesterday we had rain for a short period yesterday afternoon and I think that was all unless it rained during the night. Today I am going to coffee with my friend and then stop at Aldi's for just a few things we need.  Scott will be out about 1:30 this afternoon and then we are  going to Cheddars for our main meal.  They have a special of 1/2 rack of ribs or and 8 oz piece of Alaskan salmon for $9.99.  Scott did come out yesterday evening and we had delicious potato soup that Pat had made in the Instant Pot.  She has an easy recipe that doesn't require much work.  I did spend a couple of hours at Costco yesterday morning.  Scott didn't get out to go to Costco with me as we had planned.

My time is limited this morning so will try to make further comments brief.  I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday and appreciate each and everyone.

Gloria, I hope you got the new medicine the doctor prescribed and that it will help ease the pain.  Are you aware that CVS has purchased Aetna health insurance company?  They have become a very large company with over 9,800 stores.

June, glad to see you were able to get back to the Soda Shoppe.  Maybe today will be a day for you to make some "whoopee".  :)  Those little ones will surely brighten your day tomorrow.

Lloyd, glad you didn't have to stay in the hospital for an extended period of time.  Glad you didn't have a heart attack.

Jenny, register with the Ruby Tuesday site and you will receive email notifications of coupons and specials every week.  The salad bar special didn't require a coupon but other times I just save the coupon on my phone and then pull it up and show it to the waiter.  We have used a lot of the 50% off the lower priced meal and several times have gotten a coupon for buy one and get one entree free.  That one is really hard to pass up.  I am registered with a number of restaurants and get various coupons weekly.

Jane, always good to get a rebate as they are sort of like pennies from Heaven, so to speak, since often they are not expected.  It makes one's day.

Amy, you will see a reduction of car expenses with only the one vehicle.  We did enjoy our time last evening with Scott and look forward to another hour or two with him today.

Good morning everyone, already too hot here and supposed to go into the 90s. The humidity is already climbing, yuck. Yesterdays rain and thunderstorms and the tornado warnings never happened, not sorry either,

LLOYD  better start being careful what you eat. I had 2 sisters, both diabetics who died from pancreatic cancer. You do not want that my friend. I do not say that to scare you but both of them ate many things that should not have been in their diets. We all care about you.

AMY  still have not heard from the pharmacy. I do not like CVS stores and never did but they do deliver.

Have a good day everyone.

Larry, "I have my money on the cats winning in your bout for understanding who is boss!"   Cats--1    Shirley--0

Lloyd, sorry about the hospital trip.... did they suggest what might have caused the attack so you can avoid having it hit again?   I know when I get an icky feeling that it is time to cut back on coffee & chocolate or a gall bladder attack with smack me in the middle.  Nothing to do with age, first time it happened I wasn't even 30 yet!  I've been extra careful since but slip up once in a while & that "bitter taste of gall" warns me in time.

Gloria, I also had 3 girl cousins in the same family die from pancreatic cancer.  No idea why but their other siblings have had other cancers so we are guessing it may have to do with "farm chemicals" exposure.  Hope your new meds help.

I just watched a commercial about using stem cell transplants to regrow various parts of knees, shoulders, etc, using the patient's own stem cells.  My daughter-in-law is doing research right now to have it done for her knees.  This isn't covered by insurance to guessing not Medicare, either.  My first thought is "what a scam".... but the seminar my son & wife went to insist "it's being done all over the world but the pharmacuticals in the US are keeping a lid on it"..... I have not Googled yet but was curious if anyone here knows anything about it.  Since I never heard of the Epley Maneuver before, nor my friends or family & all are impressed with what we talk about in here.... I'm just checking!....

And now I'm going to see if a nap is waiting on that bed.  Got up early, mow day, so had to get gates unlocked & all ready.  Usual routine of feeding cats & me and needed to vac the pool so been moving.  Was nice & cool at first........... can feel a slight burn go I may be a shade darker.  I was hungry when I came in so some fruit & a hamburger with a slice of raw Vidalia onion & like a baby, exercise, eat & sleep.

Great news, Jane, you are on a roll... maybe time to buy a lottery ticket.

Hope all have a Terrific Thursday~~

I have now begun the second month of my respite care and quite frankly I dont see a lot of improvement, but I remain hopeful. My boys are working diligently to expedite my move to a permanent home where I can settle in. Hopefully I will be in my new digs before the month is over. The reality of my situation is starting to sink in though. As of now I will be unable to carry on in my role as Santa, something Ive been doing close to 20 years. Likewise my participation in the Standardized Patient Programme must come to an end and stage participation is no more as well. I am happy that my last performance garnered me an award.
The main hope that sustains me is that I will be able to continue to visit my Israeli Sweetheart.
So that is all I have for you now. I am so grateful for your thoughts and prayers and I,ll try not to be so negative in my next communication .

Don, it is good to hear from you and know that things are OK with you, even if not to your liking.  Since it seems you will be unable to continue with those activities that gave you such pleasure, I would hope you can find something productive to do - and I don't have any ideas.

Janie,I have used the Epley method for years...learned it when my husband kept having sounds in his ears...he slept with the radio going day and night because of  sounds in his ears. I just use it when necessary. It works every time, but it is not a permanent cure.

Now I am fighting dizziness......two weeks of it.
'the clinic is blaming it on too little salt in my blood. I take two salt tablets a day now, and it helps, but no cure.

Sorry you continue to have the dizziness, JUNE.  I know it is not a nice feeling and of course the worse part is the danger of falling.  You take care.  I hope you get your computer back soon.

DON, I,too am sorry you have not felt like you are improving enough in your respite care.  I hope you can settle in a permanent living situation soon.  I heard on our news last night that many suffer loss of memory as well as some other daily abilities due to anesthesia after a surgery or the like.  Many find that it does improve over a long period of time and others sadly never regain them.  Pretty sad.  One of my cousins in her mid eighties had hip surgery a month plus ago....while she was in rehab the powers that be said she had dementia so bad that she could not go back home and live alone....I wonder if that is what happened to her?

LLOYD, I am sorry to read about you Hospital visit.  I do hope you ar3 feeling much better.

SHIRLEY, my dear friend had the stem cell replacement in her knees and her back a year plus ago, but sadly did not get much if any relief from her pain from it, and it was very expensive.  She has since had her knee replaced. Best of luck to your daughter-in-law if she chooses this route.

Thank you for the info regarding Ruby Tuesday’s, LARRY. I will see if I can figure out how to register.

AMY, thank you for asking about my dad.  He continues to do fantastic.  They have cut a couple of his care provider visits but the PT guy is still coming for another couple of visits.

Kate enjoyed a fun morning with us. Her mama picked her up just after noon as she had a private dance lesson at 2.  We would have been happy if she could have stayed a little longer.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Don, I'm so sorry you are "floating" in limbo right now and hope they get you more mobile fast so you can get settled.  Where ever you live the other residents will appreciate having their own Santa so don't get rid of that red suit too fast!  I expect most places will have Christmas parties for the guests and their families, and maybe you'll get a chance to visit some of the shelters that really need some joy during the holiday season.  All of the retirement places here have a bus to take people to the store & other places, you can start working on the trips once you settle in.

Besides, with this "forced retirement" maybe you will find time to write that autobiography for your kids and grands.... it is just one day that you tell them every little detail, put the date or age when it happened so when you are all through with remembering, you can organize the pages and you have a book!  When my mother was writing hers she had her oldest brother describe how they cut the ice from the river and put it in the "ice house" (they had a butcher shop) with boards & straw so it would last all summer.  I didn't know they put the butter in the "dippers" that go down into a cistern.. Your kids and grands will be fascinated by the variety of things you have done.... just remember, only one day at a time & a loose leaf notebook, NOT one of the spirals that you can't shuffle pages.  Got to promise to share some of your thoughts with us, okay?

June, I am sure you have the best doctors ever, they do such a thorough job of testing and knowing what is wrong, any chance it may be a reaction to a new medication?  Our bodies tend to throw a fit if they don't like something.... Now I would LOVE to be told to eat more salt, I crave it & try hard to not go overboard.  Hope you have a good day tomorrow.

I never did get that nap, walked the cats down to the river but only a few fish came to eat tonight.  Water is muddy, more rain to the west, but not really high at all.  Cats are all lounging in the pool area.  They stayed inside all day & will let them stay out all night, it is too steamy to open a door tonight so hopefully a good night to sleep.  Sweet dreams to all & God Bless!

Bubble, every time I come in here & see your graphics I smile at the first & then laugh out loud a the last one.  You are good!

Thank you, Jenny, for the note about your friend.  Andy will appreciate knowing the info came from you.  I would love to hear if anyone really found regrowth or whatever it does.  I did Google & called a place in KC just to see what their process was & basic cost  Certainly not cheap & cost is for each knee, of course.  Possibly their insurance would pay for rehab after, but I don't buy they have a "90% cure" and it not be recognized by insurance or Medicare, doesn't make sense, must be cheaper than surgery.

G'morning all, Well after the storm came the calm !, we had a day and a night of welcome rain and nice fresh air blowing up the channel from the Atlantic but, slowly it has changed again and now the temperature is climbing again !, the forecast is 30C + by this weekend, im not looking foreward to that again !, Lloyd,  got your messages ok, sorry to hear of your problems, hope your health soon improves again.
Don, very sorry to read of your problems, that sounds to me as if that dreaded PPS has come back and bitten you again, if so, then I can sympathise with you, I went through the same problems earlier this year, it is a long hard road back, rough too !, but, stick with it Don, i'm sure you will  come through it all .

Rammel, thanks for adding info.  I have all that info from my Dr. but when I'm recommending something to someone else, I tend to oversimplify because I want them to form their own opinions and do what seems best for them at the time.  I would never TELL someone to do what helped me because we are all so different!  But having the info at hand is a good thing.

It's going to be a busy day.  I have things to deal with when I get home from work so I better get moving.  I wish you all a great day filled with whatever suits your fancy.

Good morning everyone..

Cloudy here with a threat of rain. Not sure what is happening here this morning, I do know meds need to be picked up and will do that first thing as town will be like a can of worms later on.

Don, you have a special talent , one that you share with so many, you 're a people person and no matter where you go you will fit in. I like Shirley's idea of writing a book as I am sure you have many stories to tell of what you have done in the past. Loved reading that you will be visiting your hunny bunny too!

Got to go get ready for the day.

Take care and enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, already 80°. local news just showed one of the beaches and alread a lot  of people on it and some in the water. Yesterday my CNA had information for me about the cannabis. A coworker of her huband uses it. Just go to a link and order it. No prescription. Expensive but if it works I do not care. I ordered a jar and it is already in the mail. Will let you know if it works. Have my fingers crossed. I do need some relief.

LARRY  I know CVS got too big and they are not dependable. I called yesterday and was told they have not received the fax from the doctor yet.

SHIRLEY  being diabetic you do have to be careful what you eat. A pancreatic flare up can happen and can cause cancer. My Mom was diabetic and I am  the only one in the family who is lucky. I am borderline so am careful what and how much I eat.

DON  it is terrible when we have to face the reality that we can no longer do the things we did and enjoyed for years. Forget who it was that said these are not the golden years but the rusting years. Take care.

Have a good day.

Good morning to all the early birds.

A kind of hazy, lazy day,   It does look a little bit like rain.  We have just had so much rain here along the east coast, and more predicted next week.  At least, it is not a cold rain.  Can get very humid after a shower.

Don, I am sure, once you get settled, you will feel up to joining in some activities.  You can always play Santa, sitting down.  And, I know you will be a big hit !!  And, you could always start some kind of a music gathering that the people would enjoy.  You are such a personable person, that I think you would fit in anywhere.

Gloria,  I will be interested in hearing what you think after trying the Cannabis????  I see a lot of information about it.  Sure hope you will see some good results.

Time to get myself moving a little bit.  I have a couple things on my agenda today, that  I must take care of.

Looking forward to a nice week end.  And, hope all of the friends here will have a good one, also.

Joy

Hi Everyone on this Friday morning.  We had rain on and off most of the day and evening yesterday.  It will stay in the mid-80's today and we have more chances of rain late afternoon and evening.  I plan on staying home today as about wore myself out yesterday.  I will keep myself busy here at my desk and with some kitchen duties, including shredding some cheddar cheese.   Yesterday I did go to coffee, stopped at Aldi's for a half dozen items, dropped my friend back at his retirement home and then stopped at the credit union.  I had some US Savings bonds that have matured and needed to cash them.  I had to wait awhile for my turn with customer service.  After that I stopped at Walmart to get some bread.  When I got home I laid down for an hour.  Then Pat and I went to Cheddars for our main meal of the day.  We thought Scott was going to go but he decided to stay home.  I ordered the special half rack of baby back ribs.  Then they served them they were cold, dry and I couldn't even make a dent with the knife on the top layer of something.  I told the waiter they were unacceptable and he replaced them with some that were hot, moist and tender and they were very enjoyable.  I ordered a pair of bifocal reading glasses as am tired of constantly having to put on and take off the the reading glasses.

Jane, I did  get an email from you regarding the clothes basket.  I use the Gmail email account and seldom look at the other one but did check it and and found nothing from you there.  I did get the clothes basket issue resolved and found what we needed. If you have sent another email I do not have it and I always try to respond to email from my friends so would have replied back unless it was a link to something.

Lloyd, glad to see you won the battle with your computer yesterday and was able to post. Sure hope you are feeling better.

Shirley, not surprised at the scoreboard and seeing the cats won.  I have never heard of them using stem cells to fix knees although know a lot of work is being done with stem cells.

June, the dizzy spells must make it difficult to do your daily walking that is so important to your legs.  Hope today finds you feeling better.

Don, good to see your message but sorry that you are not seeing much benefit from the respite care.  I hope your sons soon find you a good place to live permanently.  It is hard to give up those things we love doing but time marches on and we have to accept we cannot do many of the things we have done before.  I didn't read your message as negative but just stating the facts.

Jenny, you spoke of the dangers of anesthesia especially for us as we age.  My former brother-in-law experienced that to some extent.  Was the cousin you mentioned already suffering with dementia when she broke her hip or was it a sudden onset?  I hope you got registered with Ruby Tuesdays.  We have eaten there many times since we moved here and will continue to do so.  Glad your dad is doing so well and know that is a relief off of your mind.  How old is Kate now?

Roley, hope you find a place to stay reasonably cool today.  Nicer days are sure a welcome relief from hot and rainy weather.  We have had overcast and cloudy skies with quite a bit of rain the last few days and today seems the same.  It is always nice to see the sun when it does shine again.

Amy, how big is the town you go to for the meds?

Gloria, is sure hope the cannabis helps you.  We just had a store open over in Augusta to sell those products and am reading good things about using it in various forms as it has the element that causes a person to get high removed from it.  It sounds like another breakdown in follow through from your doctor's office if the drug stores hadn't received the needed fax with the prescription.

I'm going to try "bold". Others that use it make it easier for me to read. Another day of my head swimming. I am so thankful there is no pain involved. Just have to remember not to turn to quickly, or bend over without something solid to hang onto. It is the lack of salt that causes this problem. They discovered the lack of salt through a blood test. It could be a serious problem if left untreated.

temps our here about the same..dry as a bone.

Reading your notes, I said a little prayer for each of you.  It is difficult to admit we cannot do the same things we did twenty years ago and not easy at all to face the reality of damage from a mishap or just waking up to a "new normal" any morning.  I feel fine at the moment.  We just filled out the paperwork to donate our bodies for research at the university here or if in Arizona, that school.  We have moved all over the country so many times - it just doesn't make sense to claim different states at a cemetery.

June:  My husband salts everything and still has a salt deficiency.  I told him that I would buy a cattle salt lick just for him.

Radioman:  Don, I wish you the very best as you get through these next months.  A journal sounds very nice.  Your sons will appreciate the stories.

I'm thankful for a (more or less) easy day at work today.  My favorite CSM (Front end manager) was there today and she's the only one who seems to remember which registers are easiest for me and takes the time to make it possible for me to work those registers.

I saw some old friends and some WM customer friends and even had time to chat with them.

We're not going to the Amish store so I went out later, to the library, stopped at the store for bread and ice cream (two necessities) and paid my taxes.  All in all, a pretty good day.

I used the ice cream (black raspberry flavor to make two more little loaves of Ice Cream Bread.  One is almost gone!  It was sooooo good!

Made a mistake on my phone and called my daughter in Texas on Face Time and we had a very nice chat.  That was a plus!

I hope everyone is feeling better, staying dry if it's raining where you are and getting wet if you need the rain.

We've had 5 10 minute downpours today.  No thunder to scare the doggies and time between the storms to go out and do what needed done.  I'd say this was a pretty good day altogether!  I hope it was the same for all of you.

LLOYD, I think you only see yesterday's posts because that's all there is!  You're the first to post this morning.  I wish you luck with your purchases and your sales, safe travels and lots of friendly visits.

I'm supposed to go to a reunion of Girls Scout Camp staff from my younger years today but Mickie is having some issues and I'm not sure I want to leave her.  We'll see!

Have a great day.

Hi Everyone.  We have sunshine this morning after several days of not seeing very much of it.  Of course, our temperatures will be in the upper 80's this afternoon with more chances of shower.  We did get a couple of brief showers yesterday, one of which was enough to do some good.  I did stay home all day yesterday.  Today I plan on attending a meeting at 10:30.   I plan on stopping at Aldi's to pick up a sack of food for our Community Ministries.  We had an email from our Church saying they were very low on food.  This evening we are going to go to Pizza Hut for our main meal. We haven't been there for awhile and it has the added benefit of getting to spend a couple of minutes with our son and at least getting a hug as we leave even if he is too busy to spend a few minutes with us.

June, your bold posting is easier to read.  I sure understand about the lack of adequate salt causing medical problems as it put me in the hospital overnight when mine got so low.  Since then I haven't had any problem with that.  I had totally lost my appetite over a ten day period and so the little I did eat probably didn't help the sodium level in my blood.  I didn't have the dizziness but sure didn't feel good.  It is a serious problem that can lead to seizures and even death.

Carol, it does seem that we are experiencing a lot of "new normals".  Nice to read you are feeling good as know that wasn't the case a lot of the time you were in Arizona. My wife also uses a lot of salt and I never have and am very aware if the salt content of food I am eating it a bit high.  I remember we always had a clock of salt for the cows to lick and that during the summer when the farmers and other sweat so much there would be salt pills for folks to take.

Jane, always nice to see when you indicate your had a more or less easy day at work.  You deserve it.  FaceTime is very nice as it is the next best thing to being there.  I visit with my good friend over in Georgia usually once a week using FaceTime and will probably do so this afternoon. I did get your email this morning and can't really suggest anything further than what you have already told Sato.  If he hasn't rebooted his computer since we had the problems he could try that.  I also wonder if he might need to sign in again.  Just guesses.

Amy, that is a nice sized town.  When we made our last move over in Georgia the little town of Grayson had only one stop light and really no businesses.  Then it started to boom with a shopping center and other new businesses and widening of roads.  The little town had just over 600 population but there were lots of people in the surrounding areas in housing development and they kept building more.

Lloyd, sorry to read your are having a problem with your laptop.  It sounds like you and Nancy are making progress on your planned selling of the farm items and starting to travel.

Good morning everyone, going to be another hot humid one here. I am so tired of the AC noise. Sitting at the PC it is less than 3 feet from me.

JOY  I am not looking for a miracle just some relief from pain and maybe being able to stand up straight again. Like you I have heard so many good things about it. One of the CNAs was telling me her husband is using it and feels much better. We have not had as much rain up here in RI as you have been having further south.

LARRY  my first glasses were those half glasses, only needed them for reading and when bifocals were needed I never had a problem getting used to them One CNA I have prefers 2 pairs because she is afraid she would not like the bifocals.  I am getting the salve so no smoking pot, that really stinks. I want my head to know what my body is doing, not go flying up to crazy land. I use a CVS pharmacy for my meds only because the local one delivers. For a company that started out small here in RI they have expanded all across the country and I still do not like them and do not trust them. I have learned to count all my pills when I get them because they short change the count all the time. They have been sued more than once. I did call my doctor's office yesterday to tell them about them saying they never recieved the fax.

JUNE  guess we are all needing to slow down. I would not bend to pick something up if I was not holding onto something solid.

CAROL  I was fine till about 10 years ago and the suddenly my body said enough, I quit. Boy did it ever quit on me. Just plain wore out from all the abuse I gave it over the years?

JANE  bet you would love seeing that CSM every day you go to work. I am getting very interested in that icecream bread. Wonder if I could get a CNA to make it for me. Rain will be getting here later.

LLOYD  so happy to read you are finally seling your machinery and cattle and are getting that motor home and start enjoying life. You deserve to start enjoying and relaxing.

JANE  hope Mickie is OK so you can go and enjoy that reunion. You always enjoy  that.

AMY  we have some weird looking clouds  this morning.

Have a good day.

A good Saturday morning HELLO.

The sun is brightly shinning and it looks so pretty out there this morning. We are to have storms in the area this afternoon.  I love the moisture, but always dread the damaging winds that come with the storms.  The Phoenix area has had some sever storms the last couple of days also.  This morning I was on Face Book and saw that our Boston Families home was in the pasty of a tornado!  I called our DIL and she was not aware of the tornado warning but said it was raining very hard and the wind was real bad.  Thankfully, the warning was lifted just after we spoke.

LARRY, my cousin had shown signs of demintia but certainly not sever enough to even begin to think she would not be safe living alone.  I can not help but think the anesthesia might have been the reason she became so bad in such a short period of time. She went in for a routine hip replacement and never was able to go back home.  She still calls and cries and cries as she is so unhappy in her new location.  Kate is 8.  She will be nine in November.

JANE, I do hope Mickie is doing better and you were able to go to your Girl Scout Reunion. Our Grandson, Matt just made Life Scout.  He hopes to be totally qualified to make Eagle Scout in six months.  We sure are proud of him.

GLORIA, I know many people personally that have used CBD oils, pills and even salves and feel they get a great amount of relief from using them.  As you probably know, Marijuana is legal here in Colorado so there are many stores all over the metro area where you can go in and they are very helpful in directing you to a product that will fit your needs.  Our county will not allow sales of Marijuana, so we do not have any stores close to us. Good luck with trying this, I do hope you can get some pain relief.

BTW....Incase anyone does not know, it is not illegal to use, buy or even mail CBD’s as they do not contain any THC, aka Marijuana.

SHIRLEY, they are really pushing stem cell replacement here on TV and in the news paper.  I also saw they are working on using fat out of your own body for the same thing.....I could go for that....I can donate all they need!  I am sure the day will come that this cell stuff will be successful but sadly right now I have not met anyone that has had success with it. 😢

I left my post for quite awhile so I hope I can still post it.

Have a good rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

I am about to look at recipes just to find something different to cook.  My latest quilt needs more fabric for the back so that means another trip to the store.

My Kindle book reader quit yesterday and I thought it was a dud but this morning all I had to do was insert all the passwords and it is working.  Great!

Gloria:  Have you tried Acupuncture?  It may or may not help and may take several visits.  It you find a place that says "community" in the ad, the sessions are quite reasonable.  Everyone wants to give health advice - just do what you feel like doing and I wish you well.

Larry:  I remember a woman who had a cabin in a national park (that was taken over by Mr. Clinton's decree - her particular area) who would toss a salt lick out for the elk and moose.  It did draw them to the river too.  But - they are all over the park anyway - and the animals don't respect borders.   ;)

Hi Jenny!  I think you are in Douglas county too - we do live withing walking distance (for all to know).  I am against pregnant women taking pot for morning sickness - because if it can affect adults brains - they have no idea what is happening to the baby.  --- So sorry about your cousin.

I did go to the GS Camp Reunion and I'm glad I did.  It was fun to reminisce with people who have known me most of my life.

Carol, I lifted a recipe from the internet for zucchini tuna patties and I'm trying them today or tomorrow.  I still have to get my oomph on and get started but I'm thinking....grate the zucdhini today and make the patties tomorrow and then eat them all week.  I think my getupandgo got up and left.  If any of you see it wandering around, chase it home please.  I need it!

A while back we had a little discussion about girls joining the boy scouts and vice versa.  My gathering of Girl Scouts today had a rather heated discussion about this and also about the disposal of Girl Scout Camps.  It seems we are all of one mind about this!  There are GIRL Scouts and there are BOY Scouts and never the twain should meet...together!  Are we too old for change?

Somewhere along the line in this changing world, girls/women decided they could do the very same things that boys/men do and that women were/are the equals of men.  I have never thought so, but that seems to be the way in this Politically Correct world.  Mentally, yes, I do think we are equals, but physically, I think we are not equals.

I guess I became too old too soon.

I for one am more than happy that the day is winding down. Clothes dried with the help of the soalr dryer and yes I am going to love jumping into bed with bedding dried on the line...……..well I had better correct that I am going to ease into bed too tired to jump :)

Finally found something that little dog likes from the garden, golden girl loves beans and peas raw, little girl likes her beans cooked but she will now eat peas in a pod raw.

Yesterday was a mixed up day, I called VON to come check on hubby and what he is going through is caused by the meds. .just need more time for the body to get used to it. VON will also call here this Tue. to check up on him.

Jane, I believe woman and man each have their own uniqueness for want of a better word. Now, having said that I believe GIRL Guides and BOY Scouts is just that. One for girls and one for boys...IF they want to be together start their own group up..do not infringe on what has been for years one for boys and one for girls.  I was in Scouting and thank goodness it was just boys...I can't see them all on a field trip and  as you know boys will be boys and pick up bugs /snakes to scare the girls. We had two colonies of Beavers ,boys ages 5 -7 in the town where I lived. Glad you had a good time at the reunion.

How is Mickie doing?

I think we do not pay enough attention to how and why god made us the way he did. he made us for each other, where we fall down sometimes we do not properly respect each other as we should. and a smile and a tinder hug and kiss
should always be in place for each other and welcome. ( they say sticks and stones can brake my bones but words can never hurt me.) not true sometimes
a harsh word can hurt worse than a hard knock in the nose at least longer. a lover is always better than a fighter. good night and sweet dreams.

Sorry Gloria !. this one involves a M/C ride, but if you hold tight, you'll be ok ! :-). The country around here is still very much as it was in the 1940's, the rider mentions several times about 'Pillar Boxes' he should have said 'Pill Box's' these are still found hidden in the countryside along the South Coast, Tangmere was a RAF fighter station and in the 1940's was under daily attack by bomber/fighters, while Billy Fiskes Funeral was taking place the fighting was still going on overhead, hand on heart, i cannot say i remember that particular day, but i do remember that period very well,  I hope you find this interesting..

it is true, billy  did sign up as a Canadian to join the RAF,but strings were pulled and he flew into action at the very beginning of the Battle of Britain, over the past years many American visitors must have gone past , or visited this old Priory/Church or museum at Tangmere, few would have know of his grave or the stained glass window in the church.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm in a bit of a hurry this morning.  The doggies and I are awaiting the boinger for their breakfast and then I have to get ready for church.  It's my turn to read the lesson this morning and I always like to be a tiny bit early for that.

After church, I need to make a quick stop at WM to pick up some items to finish potato salad for a picnic this afternoon.  I've been adopted by my BIL's family and have attended their family reunions for years.  This is the BIL that I refer to as my BROTHER (no in-law)  I've always told him he's the big brother I always wanted!  He is a special guy!

OOPS!  There goes the boinger!  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!  Do whatever suits your fancy!

Almost forgot!  AMY, Mickie still has the itchies really bad but I'm treating them with baking soda and it seems to help.  She isn't sick...just really ITCHY!

Good morning everyone..

Didn't get the rain or t storm that was called for...and they are calling for it today also!!
A day of rest here, other than meals nothing needs to be done.I made pizza for supper last night and there is enough leftover for lunch and I have some chicken  cutlets for supper. Made a large batch of tapioca pudding and that's dessert.....a lazy day for sure.

Jane, neighbours dog gets the itchy and it if the grasses now, he give Rex a Benadryl, maybe ask your vet if 1/2 a pill would be alright for Mickie.

Both dogs are sound asleep still so I had better go wake them up for their breakie and a run outside.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hi Everyone.  We are to be in the high 80's again today with the possibility of more isolated thundershowers.  We did get some more rain yesterday.  I plan on going to Sunday School and Church this morning and getting something to bring home for lunch.  I woke up around 2 am this morning and then laid there for an hour and decided I might as well get up for awhile.  Pat has been having problems with her laptop so decided it was time to refresh the operating system so I did the back up and took pictures of the desktop for reference to put it back in order.  While her files remain during the back up all of the programs I had loaded on it must be reloaded.  So I have several hours of work ahead later today but should have it pretty much back in shape by this evening.  I have done this numerous times on different computers over the years so know what is required.  After I got the reset started I laid back down for a couple of hours.

Yesterday afternoon I posted the Instant Pot Potato Soup recipe in the Cooking discussion and added it to the Index.  Pat said it could also we made in a crock pot.

Gloria, I have worn glasses, including bifocals and then progressive lenses for many years.  I am looking forward to getting the bifocals that I ordered from Readers.com.  I have never counted the pills in a prescription bottle but perhaps I should.  I have several medications that come in sealed original bottles.

Jenny and Carol, I hope your area missed the storms yesterday afternoon. Those were some pictures of the dust storms arriving over Phoenix.  I don't know how one could breath in a dust storm like that.  I didn't realize there was a county option in Colorado regarding the sales of marijuana but sure that doesn't stop anybody wanting to buy it.

Carol, I have heard that quilt backing need you described numerous time and had to wonder if it was just a good excuse to get back to the fabric store.  I tease, of course.  It has now been a long time since Pat was up to going to an actual fabric store and now gets all of her fabric online.  Glad your Kindle book reader was dead but resting.  I have always had to chuckle at the road signs for deer crossings as wonder who taught the deer to read.

Jane, nice to meet with old friends and be able to reminisce.  Are boys allowed to join the Girl Scouts? Hope you have a great time at the family reunion today.

Amy, it is sad when the medicine makes one feel bad or sick.

Lloyd, the Bible tells us that the tongue is sharper than the sword.  Words can hurt if we decide to let them.  Personally I am not going to waste my time worrying about what someone says to me or about what someone may think of me.  I just want to be me and to be happy.

roley, sure you have some vivid memories of the war.

Amy, I will check out the link your shared.  Glad you are going to have a day of rest today.  We went to the Pizza Hut last evening for our dinner and it was so good that we ate the whole pie.

Good morning everyone. Today will be the beginning of a heat wave. Can already feel the humidity climbing. One of those tornadoes was quite close to the new house my grandson and his family now live and close th the house he sold.

JENNY Thursday my CNA had infprmation and the link to that CBD. I ordered the salve at 11 am. Got an email from them arou 3pm that it was shipped. It was in my mailbox on Saturday. Have not tried it yet because I cannot reach my back and left hip area so my CNA can do it today.

CAROL  I get email from Taste of Home loaded with all kind of reciped. I signed up to get this hoping to find something that would tempt me but saw several but too much work for me.

TasteOfHome@email.tasteofhome.com

I did see one for casseroles but have not checked that  yet.
I would love to try accupuncture but insurance will not pay for it. I know it does work because I have seen it done on a couple of folks I know and surprising ho fast it made a difference. Would that for surgery instead of being sedated.

JANE  that Taste ot Home site a few days ago had a lot of zuchini recpes.

PETER  saved both links and will watch when I finish here. I am very slow getting started this morning.

Have a good day, stay cool and safe.

Can I scream???? :knuppel2: :knuppel2: :knuppel2:

I can't tell you how many times in the past week I've been awaken by the phone.... a call from either a political person (or their fanatic supporter)... either to harp about how awful the other person running is or a "survey" .... "punch one or two......"  And do we really believe it is a US person or someone from India or other scams?  I had just gotten sound asleep this time & heart is pounding like I ran the 2 minute mile at this rude awakening.  Not a human to explain "don't ask me to push buttons".... Idiots, I told myself that I was going to keep track of every politician's call and NOT vote for that person.  They are invading my privacy, NOT welcome in my home. Do they think we don't have sense enough to research what each stands for?  Unbelievable number of 6"x 18" cards in the mail... I do save to use as "icky scoopers" in the RV (when Tom throws up).... and serve as very efficient litter scoopers that cats drag out all over the floor, better than any dust pan, trust me!   Tirade over, heart down to 120 so will try to finish my nap.

Shirley, I sympathize with you on those calls.  I have Caller ID so I don't have to answer if I don't want (and I don't want), but that doesn't keep the phone from ringing.  I know they use phone numbers of users so last week when a call came from Dot, I answered it and was surprised it was a political call.  The calls I get are all from "unavailable" and Dot's is that way too but I do know her number.  I wonder how many calls I've sent to people.

Caller ID costs me $10 a month and it is well worth it.  Few of the calls leave a message and if they do I can shut them up immediately.  Yes, how stupid do those people think we are?  Read Rick Rammel's quote at the end of his message and you'll find the answer.

Mary Ann, I have caller ID but have 9 phones in this house, most are portable (AT&T) that show who is calling, 4 are ancient wall or free standing that have 40 numbers programmed in, one has an external caller ID attached but had to remove from the other because it was interfering with the house wi-fi.  One other (a slimline that I can reach from my shower) doesn't have caller ID on it.... so most of the time I just grab & gripe! My husband loved gadgets, never answered the phone himself, HIS bathroom only room in the house without a phone.... & I just remembered one more... bathroom off the utility room, makes 10.  What can I say???  I'm connected.  ;D  I also love Rick's quote.... so true!

I hate that "they" think it's okay to interrupt at meal time... OR my nap time!  Or any time!

Gloria, I get e-mail from some magazine that came with Better Homes or something.... recipes always interesting but I'm not looking to cook except for something I already know how to fix.  I can't think of the name but you'd probably recognize.  Always have a new "group" of famous chefs or restaurants favorites or countries, regions.... bet I could forward links on if you'd be interested.   ;)   You are my first buddy "doing pot"..... my grands will think you are cool, I'm sure. Seriously, I do hope it helps & agree about the smoke part.... can't be good for the lungs if smoke is involved, right?

Before I forget again, want to be sure Lloyd knows that Walmart carries their own version of Rand McNally road map... be sure to get one at the local Walmart before heading out.  They show all Walmarts, show ones that allow overnight sleeping, a life saver when caught in between campgrounds.  I always stay my first night at 8,000' in Salida parking lot before going up to the campground. The one in Salida started limiting ONE night only because too many were filling the lot.  We spend a lot on groceries & have bought RV batteries & always fishing license, etc.... so I don't feel guilty about using up a parking spot.... they post the outer edges where permitted. Anyway, the atlas is well worth the price when you are not sure where you are headed & don't like to rush to get there.

I do not like commercial campgrounds where you can hear the people snore next door.  I love the Corp of Engineer campgrounds in MO, lots of trees & plenty of space.. and electric hook ups.  Only places with electricity in Colorado are State parks or commercial ones, we prefer National Forests with lots of trees & run the generator now & then to use microwave.  No TV at all in CO unless you go commercial campgrounds, but can use DVDs if you have electricity.... or like my sons, have a battery they solar charge during the day to watch movies at night.  Cats & I go to sleep at dark.

Good luck with the motorhome, mine will be 4 years old in a couple months & it has taken this long to fix "most" of the problems, at least the first year the company paid repairs, they even had it back in the factory for a month.  Actually, need to take it in for an alignment since I found out most do not get an alignment AFTER all the stuff is added to the chassis.... crazy, huh?  I still love camping & traveling, but besides cost of gas, would be a lot cheaper to stay in motels or go to resorts.  Hope you enjoy yours as much as I've have.  Safe travels........

Oh, Janie, did I ask you before what food you cook for your pups?  My sister used to buy chicken legs to boil with rice & other stuff for her pets & to feed our sister-in-law's dog... (SIL was not into cooking).  I'm not sure cats would eat rice.... I used to cook it for the baby ducks.  I've spent my life feeding critters, these cats are the most spoiled.

Time for the cats midnight snack... going to try to get sleep tonight since my nap was cut short.  Never even got back on the bed. Sweet dreams to all  & God Bless.

Just checking in before I head off to bed...

We had Dr. Dave, Matt and Luke here for dinner tonight as Kate had a Birthday Party to go to and Mama’s always go too when they are this young.  I made a meatloaf and boy did it hit the spot.  We had baked gold potatoes, corn on the cob and a homemade peach cobbler made with fresh Palasade Peaches from the western slope of Colorado.  Boy oh boy was it yummy.  I am still full.

Matt is spending the night with us and we are going fishing in the morning.  School starts here Thursday.....I can not believe their summer vacation is over already!

I hope you all had a good Sunday....sleep well and pleasant dreams.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I had a lovely Sunday!  I got to spend time with my sister and brother, my niece and her husband and my two favorite grandnieces.  My Brother (in-law's) family always makes me fell welcome.  They are such nice people and there are a couple of them who always bid me good bye with "see you next year!"  And the nice thing is, they mean it!

My niece's husband is a shift manager at the Starbuck's roasting plant in York, PA and he can't pass a Starbucks without stopping and tteating everyone to their favorite drink.  I thought I should take advantage of his being there and get a pound of coffee to take home.  So I picked one out and had my wallet out to pay for it.  He and my niece had a short talk and he turned around and said "NO CHarge!  Suzi says we don't need andy this week so we'll take as our freebie for you."  They get one free pound a week and I got it this week!  Wasn't that nice of them!

JENNY, your dinner sounds scrumptious!  You did yourself proud!

Don't know what I'll be up to today.  I have no real plans until 3:30 when I'll be off to Wally World.  Wish me smiles.

I wish you all a great day!  Grab it and make it yours.  Do whatever your heart desires.

Good Morning Everyone from
the hot and humid rocky coast of Maine.
Today is a good day to stay in out of the heat,
which is what I plan on doing

Shirley, Shirley, Shirley...   Nine phones?
That is an invitation for lost sleep and wrangled
nerves...

If i were you,  and I am not or course,  I would
pick out one phone that I could carry around with
me...   there are small ones these days,
and I would unplug and box up ever other one.

I have one smart phone that I leave in another
part of my apartment when I sleep at night...

There isn't any call that can't wait until I
wake up and get my day started.     I am not
that important any longer.    Bad news travels
fast and will come knocking on my door if
it is real.

I never, ever, ever answer a number I don't know.
Or talk to political calls..    EVER!!!

As long as I control the incoming and
out going calls...  I am happy and better off,
and sleep like a baby when I am not
up using the bathroom...   :smitten:

Good morning everyone. Boy was I mixed up yesterday, kept thinking it was Monday. The witch and her lackey were not here but then Monday is a state holiday. We are the only state that still celebrates VJ day, the end of WW2. They will not be here today, Yipee. Jept wondering why my CNA wasn't here at 10:30 as usual. Checjed my schedule and found she will be here at 12:30 today. I almost called the office to find out where she was. Glad I didn't when I got  up today and turned the TV on. Wondered why yesrterday why  the progras I watch during the week were not on. I really was messed up. Going to be a hot week, even at night the weather gal just said will be upper 70's at night.

SHIRLEY  i always check the number that shows on my phone and do not answer unless I know the name or number. At  night my family know not  to call me after 9pm becaus I will not answer the phone. During the day it is another matter. With Cox the number shows on the bottom of the TV. Then I will ignore or pick it up.

LLOYD  alway a thrill to hold a new greatgrand baby.

AMY  I will be glad when my CNA comes today and can spread it on my back. Have my fingers crossed.

JANE  your Starbucks freebie reminds me how Joan's DIL Kate kept her supplied with DD coffee. God how I still miss Joan.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. It is a beautiful and sunny morning.  We are to be around 90 degrees today with a 40% of some afternoon showers.  I had a good nights sleep last night as was really tired as yesterday was a busy day with Church and working on Pat's laptop.  I did get her laptop all back in order late yesterday afternoon after spending 4 to 5 hours working on it yesterday.  I don't have anything on my schedule for today.  I have already fixed Pat's breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen and will just take it easy the rest of the day.  We haven't decided yet what we will have for dinner tonight.

Shirley, I want to join in a a scream as most afternoons while I am laying down and perhaps sleeping my phone rings with one of those calls.  Like Mary Ann I don't ever answer them as there is no name attached but the damage is done and I usually am then awake for the rest of the time I am laying down.  I love your use of the political cards we get in the mail.  Mine go immediately in the waste basket.  I also mute political ads and lawyer ads on TV.  That is a lot of phones.  We used to have several land line phones through out the house but now Pat and I each have a cell phone and that is all. I keep mine on my belt or by the bed.

Jenny, how nice to share a special time with Dr. Dave and the two boys.  That sounds like a delicious meal you fixed.  The schools in one of the Augusta counties is starting today.  Those in our County don't start until the 20th.

Lloyd, it can't be a bad day when we get to hold a little great grandchild and be around other family members.

Amy, I hope you aren't having any serious computer problems as they can be so annoying.  Enjoy your Civic holiday and hope you can stay out of the evening traffic.  If you are all are like us we pretty much stay in after dark anymore.

Jane, glad you had such a nice Sunday with family and friends.  Nice you got the pound of coffee and the price was right.  I hope you get a lot of smiles at Walmart this afternoon.

Sandy, I agree news that is either good or bad can wait until morning.  You have your emergency alert so really don't need to keep a phone nearby at night.

Bubble, always enjoy your posting and it is a comfort to know you are always there to keep an eye out for us and help us so much with these discussions.  I agree with you that Jane does have a way with words.

Gloria, it is easy to get mixed up on our days when basically most days are like other days especially when one doesn't get out much.  Did you get the salve that you ordered?  If so I hope it brings you some much needed relief.  Like you I miss Joan and so many others that have been a part of our Internet family over these many years.

Mary Ann, I know some of the politician aren't that bright but it is only logical you are going to tick people off by using someone else's phone number in making a call.  I guess I am cynical but I really don't trust any politician anymore but guess they are a necessary evil and even those that start out ethical seem to be corrupted in a short while.  (I hope this isn't too political for this discussion and if I please accept my apology but they are just my general thoughts.)

The problem with having a stroke,
is  my brain does not function like it usually does.

Reaching up and pressing my "I've fallen and can't get up"
button located around my neck, hopefully will be
possible.

Making  a phone call?    Impossible.
Sometimes I can hardle move...  and
trying to make sense out of what is happening
just doesn't work... or happen.
My brain turns to mush and logic disappears.

I live alone so there is no one to depend on,
and if there was someone there to depend on,
would they recognize the problem enough to get
help?

Probably not.

Anyhow...    It is a nice day today,
and I am looking forward to friend visiting this
week...   Good news!

Have a good day,  everyone ..

Unwanted phone calls - our phones are not easy to read the caller so I end up being frustrated by the robots calling.  It certainly is a different world when we cannot protect ourselves.

Lloyd :  Sorry that you had to sell your draft horses - I know you cared tenderly for them.

Jane:  I admire your grit!  Going to WM and dealing with the public.  Our WM is herding everyone to the self-check lines and many times has only one person at a station.  Zucchini memories - one job I had at a publishing company was in an area where everyone had a garden.  You should have seen the donated veggies stacked high in the lunch room area.  Everyone made bread and other things with the bounty.  It did get a bit crazy trying to think of new recipes.

Larry:  I made chocolate pancakes for a late breakfast here - I found the mix at an International type store.  Not enough chocolate though - it could use more choc chips.

Sandy:  I did not realize you have suffered a stroke.  Do you have a button that senses a fall?  I hope you can find some way to have someone check in with you.

Hello again, Everyfriend!  I've spent most of the morning at my desk.  I decided not to do anything that needed a lot of physical energy and save it up for WM.

I want to thank everyone who commented on my "way with words".  I wish I could extend that "way" to face to face contact.  I'm never as good in person as I am on paper.  Back in school, when everyone was whining about having to "write a PAPER" I was rejoicing!  I could usually come up with a pretty good grade on paper.  And if it gave me a chance to use my own words that was a bonus!

Bubble, you started all that by posting on here.  I, for one, miss your posting in this forum.  I see you elsewhere and we have some fun together but seems the only time you post here is when we need a housecleaning or you have something on your mind.  I'm proud to be "on your mind" today.  Thank you!

I've managed to finish a lot of "desk" things today and that's a load off my mind.  Now I'm holding out for a late lunch so the doggies can hold out until I come home.

SHIRLEY, I noticed a note to myself that you had asked what I cook for my doggies.  I buy a premix that is dry and contains a lot of veggies and some whole grains.  It gets reconstituted with boiling water, then you add some oil for their skin and protein (meat, fish or eggs) to finish it off.  It's not hard to do and when I'm going away and leaving them with a "sitter", I can make ahead and freeze it.  But it does seem to keep them healthy.  I also add a powder that I buy from a place called EARTH ANIMAL that protects them from fleas and ticks.  It must work because in ten years, they've had NO fleas and I've only picked 3 DEAD ticks off them.

I suppose that was a lot more than most of you wanted to hear but blame it on Shirley,  She asked.

Now I think I'll go feed my body and rest my brain until it's time to go to Wally World.  Wish me smiles!  I wish you smiles, cool breezes and lots of friends!  Be happy!

My strokes were about 5 years ago and
I do have people that stay in touch with me...

I follow doctors orders and keep my blood "thin"
so that the AFIB will not cause clots to form...
Of course there is no guarantee,   but I look at it
as "we all have something"  that get's to us eventually,
otherwise  we would all be living a whole lot
longer....

(And what would they do with us?)

Have a great day,  everyone!

Jane, I can say the same as you: " I'm never as good in person as I am on paper." My dad was the same.

Also "Back in school, when everyone was whining about having to "write a PAPER" I was rejoicing!"
The same happened to me; not only that but I was writing that paper for 5 other students and the teacher never even imagine the writer was the same person.  We six always got top grades. They helped me with my math and chemistry lessons.

You are right, I post only when I have something to say. I am not good with small talk or socializing in general.  It's a failure that my mom deplored.  I admire the way my daughter manages to have great exchanges with total strangers in less than five minutes.

Good morning everyone, going to be another hot miserable day. I have not been out  since Saturday. Will stay in till this heatwave leaves. There was a tornado just over the border in Mass. too close to where my grandson and family now live. The city it hit bad is where we used to go shopping. My daughter saw it on TV in Arizona and recognized the city. She called me and asked if she was right. Shocked her, this is something new here. We have had tornado warning this year and never had that before. Only one was in Worcester, Mass. many years ago  must have been about 60 years ago and was a surprise. Did a lot of damage.

LARRY  I am beginning to believe politicians like their jobs because they can line their pockets. I am so tired of it all. I do not get the annoying calls anymore. Maybe because I do not answer the phone. I ordered that salve Thursday morning and got an email mid afternoon that it was sent. I got it in Saturday's mail. I cannot reach my back so yesterday my CNA used it on the sore and it back felt  better. I only CNAs 4 days a week so will get it put on at least 4 times. My son was telling me yesterday that the wife of a friend had stage 4 cancer and started using the oil. Puts a few drops under her tongue and now she is stage 3 and tumers are getting smaller. That sounds promising.

CAROL  I get phone calls and I do not know the number I let the machine take it and so many times they hang up or they leave a message I can tell they are phishing for some scam or other.

JANE  I envy you and June for your way with words. I use to many words where a few would do. Oh I would love those cool breezes. I do not like summer weather.

JUNE   I pray that dizziness will leave you. Thank God At least I am not dizzy.

BUBBLE  my daughter can carry on chatting with everyone she meets. Her father used to say her mouth would get her in trouble but she has more good friends than he ever had.Thank you for the link, she is adorable.

JANE  love the smile on Emma. I know it hurts that you cannot be with her  and hold and cuddle her. I was like that with my daughter s 2 sons. She did send me many pictures every week.

Have a good day and try to keep cool.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another typical summer day here in South Carolina.  Yesterday there were storms all around us but we didn't get any of the rain.  However, one of the Churches in our county had its steeple blown off and a man was killed when he was struck by lightning.  An apartment house was also hit with lightning.  Apparently we may have a repeat of the pattern today.  I have a busy morning today as will meet with my friend at 10 am and then have to get over to Walmart to pick up a prescription and then go downtown to the other Walmart to pick up an online grocery order.

Sandy, thanks for explaining the limits you may experience in an emergency.  I certainly hope you would be able to reach your alert button.  I was glad to read that you do have people that stay in touch with you and hopefully they would follow up on you if they couldn't reach you.   What will be is not something we can predict so no sense in wasting time today worrying about something we have no control over, at least that is part of my philosophy of life.

Carol, I don't know that there is a way to protect ourselves from robocalls.  Like you I see only a couple of checkout persons in the regular checkout lanes at our Walmart.  However, I don't mind using the self-checkout area especially since they now have the handheld scanners available for the customers to use as they seem to work better than the glass ones.  It is hard to get too many chocolate chips.  The chocolate chip cookies that we have gotten a few times from Costco actually have chocolate chunks and they are delicious.

Jane, good idea to save your energy for your afternoon work shift.  I like to both write and talk with people. I did a lot of writing in my jobs over the years and fortunately I enjoy writing as must be obviously from the length of my postings. Interesting how you make your dog food as I have also wondered what you did.  I hadn't heard about the Earth Animal and will have to mention it to my son. Hope your doctor's appointment went well this morning.

Gloria, Tornadoes are so unpredictable and do so much damage. Glad your grandson and family escaped damage.  Apparently tornadoes can hit about anywhere and at anytime of the year.  Missouri, where I grew up is in tornado alley and I remember going to our root cellar with my mother several times.  My dad was an insurance agent and got called out to deal with damages when one hit somewhere in our County.  So glad to read you may be getting some relief with the new salve.

June, always good to see your postings and I hope your desktop will soon be returned to you.  Have you seen the three little ones yet?  Sure glad you are still able to read even when experiencing dizziness when you are up.

Bubble, you are indeed a good writer.  I was never good at math and never took a chemistry class as our little high school of around 35 students could only have teachers for the basics.  It wasn't required in the course of study I had for my degree in college.

My appointment this morning was with an Applied Kinesiologist/chiropractor and it was very successful.  She put a lot of things back that got out of line with my "stumble bum act" a couple of weeks ago.  I really like her because she doesn't work like most chiropractors and I don't go home with any sore spots.  Her process is very gentle and best of all...IT WORKS!

I've been doing a little research on Instant Pots but have not committed yet.  I appreciate all the insights.

Now I have to go change my clothes and grate a zucchini!  I don't think I've ever grated one before.  I've chopped, sliced, baked, chunked and whatever but no grating.  Wish me luck!

I hope you are all enjoying your day whether you are staying in out of the heat of venturing out in it or maybe it's cool where you are.  Whatever this day brings your way, it will be special because it's YOURS!

I will just say thanks Bubble for new page, the ladies remind me of a poem I read in Brookgreen gardens My grandmother Louise and my grandmother Lydia I liked it because it reminded me of my children grandmothers,My mother was from NY and Cyriels mother was from Ala.

Well, I grated the zucchini.  I cheated when I discovered that my new food processor does a pretty good job of grating.  And I have enough for one and a half of the recipes I want to make.  I made the bread and it's in the oven and oooh boy!  is it ever smelling goooood!

I'm kind of ticked off with the recipe, though.  Don't you love it when it tells you all the steps and the last step is, "pour into a 12 and 3/7 by 4 and 2/20 by 6 and 1/14th pan!  I never seem to have the pans they want me to use.  Oh well!  I adapted!  I'll put a loaf in the Hidey Hole later!

Now I have to decide which of the other two recipes to make.  They're both dinner so one will have to wait.  Christy and Frankie are coming tonight and if I'm lucky, Christy will have another zucchini for me and I won't have to decide.

We just had far off rumblies that gradually moved in on us and dumped a lot of rain...just what we've been needing....NOT!  I guess Mother Nature is all mixed up about who it is who needs the rain and who it is who needs time to mow grass and pull weeds!  I wonder if a sign on the roof would help?

Bread is out of the oven, cooling and almost ready to be devoured!  Shall I put butter or jam in the Hidey Hole with it?

I think I try to find a couple of zzzs on the sofa.  I was up and attem pretty early this morning and I took a long drive!  Later, friends!  I wonder what everyone is doing?  Busy! Busy!

Jane, I think I did not comment on the new pictures of Emma before, but she is adorable and looks so alert.  She's at a nice age where she can respond.  My nephew's twins are 18 months old and starting to say words that we can understand.  Only one word at at time, but that's progress for two little girls who were born two months early.

I find that I write too much too and often end my posts with "Blabbermouth".  I write too many books as everyone knows.

Jane, thank you.  Being single has allowed me to help my family (mostly Tom's) when they needed it.  I hope I haven't been guilty of over-helping!  By now, Tom might be able to have a place of his own, but at the time he came here, he was without a job and his brother (Terry) and wife were selling their home because of the wife's employment change, so he was going to be homeless too.  It has worked out well for both of us.  Tom lives in the lower level and I live in the upper level.  He does the cooking when he's here at a mealtime.

June, don't worry about your computering because we just want to hear from you.  I appreciate your trying to BOLD your post because I can read them better.  I'm sorry you are still feeling dizzy; it must be kind of unnerving.

Good Morning to Everyfriend!  I've been up for hours and got a lot done before my daughter got up.  Since then, we've been visiting and catching up.  Now I'm ready to take off for Wally World while they do what they came here to do.  It's going to be a short visit but a QUALITY one!

Better get a move on.  I have a little visiting time left and I think they're not leaving until right after supper.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!  It's yours to do what you want.  Fill it with love...for friends, family, activity, or just plain loafing!

Good Wednesday morning.

Pretty sunny morning and no breeze moving the pine trees out of my window.  Looks so calm and peaceful.

Nothing special going on. I did play cards last night, and, as usual,  my partner and I did not win.  It is getting to be a big joke........We both must just have unlucky chairs.  But, it is still fun and something to do.

I am still trying to get rid of things, but I have to take a break once in a while.  I already have a mix of things to go to the thrift store.  Hopefully, my son or DIL will be able to take it all this week end.

I have made my on-line Walmart grocery order and my DIL will pick it up on Friday evening.  Of course,  I have already added another item to it.  They do give you a certain amount of time to order extra things before the day it is to be picked up.

I am also going to try to get to our local farmer's market on Saturday morning.  This market is usually held on our Fire Dept. grounds, but they will be setting up for their annual carnival on Sat.  So, the market is held on the parking lot of a business in the area.  That is just about the only time that I get to go, because the ground at the Fire Dept. is just so uneven and rough to walk on.  I have a difficult time getting over it with my walker.  So, I sure hope I can get to go this week.  I am hungry for some good peaches and some other fruit.

I have been up a while, but still need to get some breakfast.

Have a pleasant day.

Joy

Hi Everyone.  It is another bright and sunny morning here in South Carolina but our weather pattern is to continue for at least several more days with with rain or storms developing in the late afternoon.  Finally yesterday afternoon we did get some nice rain.  Today the lawn people are applying fertilizer and weed control on our lawns. I have noticed several weeds popping up in my front yard so glad they are doing this.  I expect they will also be mowing since they didn't get most of the yards mowed last week due to the wet yards.  The calendar is clear today as have no where I need do go.  Hopefully Scott will come out this evening and spend a couple of hours with us.

Lloyd, so happy for you that you are now going to do some traveling and in style.

Jane, always good to read that a chiropractor treatment has brought relief when things are put back in line.  Pat and Stacey used chiropractors for many years.  Unfortunately the last chiropractor Pat used told her that he had done as much as he good to deal with her situation.  It sounds like you have found a really good one.  Pat is using the Instant Pot for quite a bit of cooking now and will fix the pork roast in it today.  She was going to cook it yesterday but decided that she just wasn't up to dealing with it so we just took two of the meat loaf dinners, with vegetables, she had fixed from the last meat loaf out of the freezer and they were quickly heated in the microwave for an easy supper.  She had put them out to thaw a couple of hours before we ate.  While she has only used the feature a couple of times you can go ahead and cook the dish and the Instant Pot will hold it at eating temperature for up to 8 hours.  Glad you were able to use the food processor for that grating job. Pat has made zucchini bread from time to time and I agree it is very good eating.

Mary Ann, it probably won't be long before the twins are talking up a storm once they get started.  You certainly don't write too much in my opinion. It seems like the arrangement Tom and you have for him living with you has worked out very well.  It is obvious that he really loves you and I just bet he has appreciated all you have done for him and his family over the years.

June, hope you had a good nights sleep and are feeling better today.

Jo, while it is fun to win at cards or any game we play and we should play to do so but I have never been upset in not winning.  It is just a game and a chance to be in a social setting with friends.  We used to play cards or a domino game with friends fairly often but all of that is in the past and just fond memories.  When I picked up our online grocery order from Walmart yesterday I was talking with the young lady about the process they use to pick up the items.  She said they use 8 carts and have a list of items saying how many of each things they needed and then the items were sorted into the individual orders after they have been gathered.  She also told me that we have up to 24 hours from our designated time to pick up the order before it would be put back on the shelf.  I had to reschedule for an hour later yesterday due to a conflict in time I had forgotten about and she said that was no problem and I really had not needed to call and so advise.  Pat usually is able to add a few items after she makes the initial order before submitting it.

Larry, that is interesting how Walmart fills customers' orders.  I wonder if my store does something similar.  Since Tom places the order and picks it up, I'll probably never know.  I do know they do a good job - too good sometimes.  I ordered some 15-grain bread last time and I got 12-grain - free.  There is almost always a free item in the order.  Some things taste better than others, but it's the thought that counts, isn't it!?

Good morning everyone. The thermometer outside my window reads 82° but on my PC it says 72°. Then on TV it says 79°. Which does one believe? All I know is it is still humid and too warm for this time of morning.

LARRY  as far as I know the first tornado was the one that hit Worcester, Mass. more than 60 years and that shocked everyone. We do not usually have summers with so much hunidint and high temperatures for so long. I think that salve needs to be applied twice a day but I cannot reach the place on my back and I only hve CNAs 2 hours 4 days a week.

LLOYD  I wish  you many happy years  traveling with the motor home. After all those years of hard wordk you deserve some good years. My son had apples bu t he went into Conn. at a place he knows and picked some peaches, very  tasty ripening on the trees.

JANE  glad you found someone that really helps your back. A chiropractor is one I have not tried. I think I am afraid they could make it worse. My son bought a machine on amazon that will spiral zucchini, it comes out like long thin strands of spaghetti. He broght me some and he coo‪ked it in olive oil for 3 minutes rill it was almost transparent and then served it with spaghetti sauce with sausage that he made, very good. He has turned into quite a cook since he retired.

MARY ANN  don't think you write long books here. I know some days mine are much too long.

JUNE  hope you get your Mac back soon.

JOY  looks nice outside from my windows and I am comfortable in inside with the AC keeping me cool.

Gloria,  I, too, have  one of the spiral cutters and I have fixed the zucchini noodles both ways.  They are just as good cooked in the oil and a little bit of garlic. I have also used them with different kinds of spaghetti sauce.

Mary Ann,  with the pick-up orders from Walmart, there is a place on the order form that you check off if you want them to substitute for something they are out of.  It has only happened to me several times, but it is always a bigger or better size than what you have ordered.  And, I think you are only charged the price of the one they are substituting for.  Larry might correct me on that.  ??   I only had one time where they forgot something and it wasn't a big deal.  It didn't cost that much, so I didn't bother to call about it.  I am very pleased with the way the whold system works.

Larry, that is interesting what the girl told you about the shopping part.  I guess that would be better than doing each order as it is written.  It sure is a big help for people that have trouble getting to the store.  I like the fact that you can get a list of all your favorite things that you order all the time.  Sure makes it easier than going through all the different categories.  I have even bought some non-food items.   I also order my toilet paper, laundry detergent and bigger  and heavier items and have them delivered right to my door.  Saves my DIL from having to lug those heavy things up to my place.

We have another nice grocery store that has started the pick-up service, but it hasn't gotten to my area yet..  I probably will order from them when they start it down my way, as I prefer their produce to Walmart's.  Although  I ordered some of the beefsteak tomatoes, which came 2 to a package and they were really good.  Each slice was big enough to take up the whole slice of bread and had a good taste, also.

Joy

Hello Everyfriend!  I'm home from work and I've had my lunch with 4 beggars watching me!  My daughter and gdaughter brought 2 dogs with them.  They are still out at  an appointment that is what brought them here in the first place.

JOY, those tomatoes that come 2 to a box are available year round and they taste just as good in January as they do now.  It's the only kind I'll buy in the off season.

I think our shopping service is about to open.  Today we had flyers to put in the bags as we check out customers.  Also, my favorite CSM was there today and I got the easier registers.

Guess I better get moving.  I told my daughter that the service in this "hotel" stinks but I don't want it to be so bad she decides to use another hotel the next time she comes.

It sounds like you've all been making good use of your time today.  Thanks for including me in your activities.  Come back and get me later.  I'll be lonely when the kids go home.  Enjoy your day...zip-a-dee-doo-dah!

Joy:  It sounds like you and your card partner just enjoy the visiting time.  Nice!

I have made 5 meals with the 6 quart Instant Pot and feel comfortable using it - now to look for some more challenging dishes.

Yesterday was spent at the Justice Center - I had a summons for jury duty and Don drove me there because hailstorms have been pounding that area every afternoon.  It was a Criminal case involving children of a relative - closed to only jury.  There were 50 plus called and it took all that time to get to the 9 jurors with a couple of alternates. Thanking heaven that I was at the end of the group called - it would have been too much for me to handle. We all took an oath to not look at the news online, etc and never speak of it while trial is ongoing - Today, I still feel so glad that I did not have to listen to that case.

My only highlight of yesterday was viewing the large wall with framed pictures of Police Dogs who have retired.  They are so smart and well trained.  We used to go to their Police gatherings just to see the super smart dogs.  These were all boys.

Don drove me leaving at 6:15 AM to get there - heavy traffic plus every afternoon a storm pattern so we did not want car damage.  Two days ago, there was baseball sized hail.  Enough of that sad talk.

I am taking a break after spacing out the housework - the kitchen floor is laminate and I vacuum it then use a damp mop.  All the while listening to ALEXA playing music - today was Elvis and his early church songs - sometimes John Denver.  You know, the songs we know the words.

I like my kitchen.  It is roomy and a desk is built in by the window so my laptop can sit here while I keep an eye on what is cooking.  The window to my left shows the ravine in back.

Jane:  Glad you are home again and how nice to have family visiting.  4 Furry Friends!  That is quite a group.  Enjoy the visit.

Joy, the item in my grocery list that was substituted was bread and it was free, so no complaints.  It's that I prefer the 15-grain and received 12-grain.

Two or three nights ago I slept only two hours and I've been catching up since.  Tom was willing to fix anything I might want to eat but food didn't appeal to me so I had him get some skim milk and Instant Breakfast and with that, we put a container of yogurt.  I've eaten/drank that for years and I know it would not give me any trouble - and it didn't.  It made enough for two meals so I finished it for my breakfast this morning.

Gloria, I'd believe the thermometer by your window.  I have an indoor/outdoor thermometer in my bedroom on the north side of the building and I rely on that for more accurate temperature as it's in the shade much of the day.  I really like it when we write books.  I think I get carried away sometimes and I try not to be negative in what I write because I really am rather optimistic.

Carol, it is interesting how different areas have different things happen to them weatherwise.  We rarely have hail and when we do, it's pea sized, not enough to damage anything.  We've had tornadoes but not often, certainly not yearly or more often.  We have snow but rarely a blizzard.  We have floods, but so far nothing like other areas have had.  Knock on wood!!!

I received a card one year about jury duty and I think I had to send a card back with my age on it - I think I was 70 and I never heard another thing from them.

Good Afternoon,

I see you've all been busy with your usual activities.

The last week has been "one thing after another" for me.  All good - but several times of too much coming at me at one time.   Can't remember what I've talked about....

Last Saturday,  niece from Amarillo and two daughters were in town to take advantage of "tax free shopping before school starts" weekend.   I puzzle as to how they figure it's saving money to make an 8 hour round trip for this but, then, OKC has more store choices.
Whatever - it's always nice to see them.  This time, Dad couldn't get off work so it was Mom and the two girls.  I invited them to come for lunch on Saturday - and didn't invite anyone else because I have never had an opportunity to visit with any of them just by themselves.  We had a wonderful time.

Yesterday, the housecleaner was here at the same time the painters came to paint the front door.  This is part of an HOA project to paint outside trim of all the units.  While they were here, I had two business calls and one personal call that was very exciting....

Miss Ellen called to tell me she has finally gotten a "gig"!   :nanadance: It's a small role in a community theater production of "Cabaret" in Leonia, New Jersey - just 5 miles across the George Washington Bridge from where she lives.
Her character has a name, which usually means she has one or two lines in addition to the dancing.
Small step toward getting her foot in the door but will be good on her resume.  I know it's been hard for her to watch her friends get roles while she gets cut after one or two call-backs.

There was a big thunderstorm in the wee hours last night.  I put a small pillow over my ear and dozed off until a huge boomer got my attention.  Opened my eyes to find I was in pitch black darkness.  Electricity had gone off.   I went out to the recliner and my Tablet.  Decided to go back to bed an hour later and, just as I got to the bedroom, the lights came back on.  I went back to sleep until the phone awakened me.  Then had a short nap right after lunch.

However, I had lost the Wi-Fi connection to my Tablet some time over the weekend and family "gurus" only had time to try and help via text/ phone call.  Nothing worked and it's suspected there's something wrong with the router.  I don't understand enough about that to experiment.   I can play games on it but am missing reading my e-books.  Computer works fine but I don't like sitting in front of it to read.

Help may be available tomorrow night.  Family who are in town are coming for #1 son's birthday dinner.  Miss Emily's mom is in Kansas helping Em and roomie move to another apartment while they're studying for Finals, which start next Monday.

Son had found a recipe on Facebook for a Cherry Dr. Pepper cake and strongly hinted he would like to try it.  Well, of course, it's Mom To The Rescue.  ;)
I baked it this afternoon and it not only looks pretty, it was very easy to make.  I haven't sampled but what could be bad about chocolate and cherry?

And that's what's going on in my corner of the world.
Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Callie, This coming weekend is "Tax Free Weekend" in Texas!!  Cathie has already done her back to school shopping.  She said it was well worth paying the extra $8.00 (8%) per $100 sales tax rather than brave the parking and crowds in the Mall and/or stores.

Like Shirley always says, "Please send the rains and storms my way"!  We may get some of your rain starting tonight.  It's at the Red River now.  We haven't had any rain to speak of since the end of May and we're back in the extreme drought category.

Late post once again!  I have been so busy with family, and have been just too tired to even post, I am sorry to admit.

Matthew spent the night Sunday, and early Monday morning we headed out for a full day of fishing.  What fun we had in spite of no luck with catching fish that were big enough to keep.  We went to two separate resivors.  Matt had a lot of fun and so did we.

Tuesday afternoon Kurt came with the boys.  We met Dr. Dave and his Family at a pool in their community.  Dave was hosting a cook out/swim party for Matthew’s fellow Boy Scouts.  It was so nice to have all the grands together once again.  Kurt and the boys spent the night.  I got up early and fixed them sausage and pancake breakfast. Before they had to leave to go pick up their Mommy at the airport.  They boys were very excited to go get their mom as they have not seen her since they left Alaska.

Sadly we had a terrible hail storm in Colorado Springs at the famous Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on Monday afternoon.  Four animals fell victims to the very large hail sized from to golf ball to softballs.  All cars had to be towed out of the parking lot due to totally smashed front windows.  15 people we taken to the hospital and many others were injured, as were some of the animals.  We have sure had a lot of sever hail storms this summer.  Seems the size of the hail are so much bigger now than we used to have,

I am going to say goodnight and wish you all pleasant dreams.

Jenny

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I dearly love my family and when they come visit me, I'm in heaven.  However, when they leave, I realize how tired I am and I wish I didn't need to experience that.  Oh well, at least they still want to come visit their old Mom/Grandma.

So far today, I was out of bed a little after 5:30, took the doggies out and then gave them their pill, set the boinger and conked out on the couch until the boinger went off.  I stopped and they let me have another 15 minutes before they told me, in no uncertain terms, that it was time for breakfast.

I only have one major chore to do today and that's to get rid of the trash.  And I think I'll make up a casserole with the rest of the shredded zucchini.  It doesn't sound like a particularly busy day but there are some odds and ends that I might attend to if I've a mind!  Gonna take it as it goes.

I hope you all have a pleasant day...not too busy but lots of fun!  Take it as it comes!  It's yours, mine and ours to do as we wish!

Good morning.

Jane,  have you ever made zucchini fritters with the grated zucchini.   I make them out of different kinds of the squash..  Just add an egg, some seasoning and some Panko bread crumbs and sauté lightly.  I have even eaten them cold sometimes.  You  can make a sauce for them also.  Little seasoned mayonnaise is good.

If I get to the Farmer's market this week end, I plan on getting several different kinds of squash.  I made my DIL a loaf of the zucchini bread last week, and she said it was good.  She slices it and then freezes it and has that as her breakfast.  I like the little Patty  Pan squash, especially the real little ones,  They are so tender.

JOY, thanks for the info.  I have a recipe for patties made with the grated zucchini that I'm going to try today.  It's pretty much like yours except it has canned tuna in it.  I'll let you know how it works out.

Hi Everyone.  Another beautiful morning after a pretty stormy night last night.  There was a lot of thunder and lightning, including a strike somewhere very close to us and then quite a bit of rain.  Today is to get into the low 90's and there is a small chance of more rain and storms later this afternoon or evening.  This morning I have a doctor's appointment to have my toenails trimmed.  Then this afternoon Pat and I plan on going back to Ruby Tuesday's for another of their buy one get one entree coupon mail.  That makes pretty inexpensive eating.  Scott did make it out last evening after we had finished dinner.  He had texted before we had finished dinner that he was on his way so we left the food on the table and he had a good dinner meal.  Pat fixed the pork loin roast and green beans and some smiley face potatoes along with some dinner rolls.  The potatoes were something we had never seen before as they were mashed but fixed in little round smiley faces.  It was the first time I ever had my food look back at me!

Mary Ann, I wouldn't have known how Walmart gathered the items for the online orders but that sure makes sense.  I told the young lady that an efficiency expert must have developed the plan.  We have had several upgrades in size of items or a better brand than ordered with no additional cost.  I don't remember getting anything for free other than the above.

Gloria, I guess our best gauge of the temperature is how it feels to us.  For the first time that I can recall the trash was picked up right after I had put it out.  It usually is near noon or afternoon before they get to us.  I got the trash buggy back in the garage before it got hot this morning.  It is amazing what different machines are available such as the spiral zucchini machine.

Joy, we have had the same experience with Walmart in substituting and one can't complain when they do that.  There are a few items Pat will mark as not to be substituted.  You are right on what price they charge when substituting.  We have had only one time that there was problem of them not putting in the items from the cooler and I had to make a return trip to pick them up after I got home and we saw they were missing.  We are also very pleased with the online ordering from Walmart and also online ordering from other companies.  I am sure this is the way of the future for shopping.  We have ordered a number of non-food items.  Pat just got a new iron in our last order.  She had left her iron upstairs on.  The new one automatically turns off after 10 minutes of being idle.  We often buy paper products in case lots and have them delivered.

Jane, it must be something with four dogs under foot and wanting to be fed. Are you familiar with the smiley faced frozen mashed potatoes I wrote about above?  They have some type of seasoning on them and are quite good.  I expect all of the Walmart Superstores will soon offer the online ordering.  It sounds like you had a very happy day yesterday. Glad you have today off to rest up.

Carol, have you looked for Instant Pot recipes online.  Pat has used quite a number of them.  We are going to get another set of 5 meal containers to freeze meals in.  They work really well and sure make for a quick meal of homemade food.  Glad you didn't have to serve on the jury.  It sounds like you have a nice desk arrangement for your laptop.

Mary Ann, I found the jury duty I have performed over the years very interesting and challenging and it did reinforce my belief in the system that the juror all took their responsibility very seriously, whether young or old.  The first jury I was ever on was a murder case but not a death penalty case.  I am now too old to serve on jury duty and could not physically tolerate it.

Callie, at least the tax free weekend let you see your niece and her daughters.  South Carolina just had a tax free weekend last weekend.  Georgia hasn't had one now for a couple of years so know a lot of shoppers came over the river from Augusta to do shopping for school.  Happy for Miss Ellen finally getting a "gig" as she can begin to build her resume.  She has chosen a tough business.  It sounds like you have a very busy family.  I bet that cake is good.  Maybe you can share the recipe in the new Cooking discussion here on S&F's.

Mary, I would agree with Cathie about what it is worth not to get into the large crowds and long check out lines.  I hope you get some rain as that is a long time without rain.

June, sure you were happy to see Gary as he did the Bible lesson.  Glad you were up to attending.

Jenny, certainly understandable why you wouldn't have the energy to post with all of that activity with your family.  What a terrible hail storm.  I saw just a brief report showing some of the smashed windshield.  Those hail storms have to be a nightmare for car dealers with huge lots of new and used cars.

Lloyd, what do you use the buggy horses for?

First of all, there's a scam going around that you have contacted a virus and you need to call Microsoft at a certain phone number to have them get rid of it.  I repeat THIS IS A SCAM!  I checked with the guys who built my computer and keep it running and they assured me that it is NOT legitimate.  They also did a quick scan of my computer and found NOTHING!  I urge you NOT to make that call.

Second, my granddaughter who does the personal shopping for WM in Frederick, MD was here and I quizzed her about how they do it.  It's not quite like (someone) described it here and she showed me pictures on her phone of their actual setup in the back of the store.  It is very efficient and she said "nobody is getting in anybody's way".  Of course, it might be a case of stores implementing their own procedure.  She also commented that some customers are most grateful and say so and some just act like it's what they expect and don't even say "Thank you" to her.  That's all OK with her but I could see that she appreciates being noticed!

I have to tell the guys at the computer place how much I appreciate them.  They take the time to explain things to this old lady and they don't even sound bored with it all.  They just say "call back if you have questions."  So I do!

I did find some things to do...laundry, moving things from the bedroom back to storage, tossing some stuff, a little vacuuming and some just plain sitting here playing games on the computer.  I'm really not hard to please.  I hope you are all spending a pleasant day.  Don't let anything make you do what you don't want to do!  Be firm!  Be happy!

Jane, I have that phone call on my answering machine.... telling me I HAD to call because "some foreign countries had compromised my Microsoft registration number or something...  and they were going to turn off my account in 24 hours if I didn't call that number".  I saved it in case anyone wants to call that number.  :knuppel2:  They probably change the number often enough the cops couldn't get to them, right?... in the meantime, they have YOUR connection for whatever reason.  Seems to me they could catch enough of these smart people & either make them figure how to catch the rest or go to jail with bread & water only!!!

Callie, congratulations to Miss Ellen, she has drive & I admire that.  I wasn't even willing to "paint to please others" and hated doing commissions.  So good that we aren't all alike.... but what a joy when someone "catches a star" on the way to their dream.  I'm thrilled for her & hope she is gets noticed by someone important.

Larry, I've never had a potato smile back at me, either..... where did you find them?   I never saw a potato on a plate that I didn't like.  My mother made potato cakes that I dearly loved.  She fried them like a pancake & we put jelly on them & ate kind of like a piece of jelly-bread.  By the time I realized I hadn't had them for years, she forgot how she made them.  She used recipes when cooking for a crowd but when I was little, before & during WWII, she made a lot of food with whatever she had.  Back then there was no such thing as "instant" mashed potatoes so she cooked a lot & was glad to have leftovers to work with.  She had one other thing she made & didn't write down the recipe & none of us could ever make it taste the same.  Now, I'm sure it was because we didn't have the quality eggs (was the pudding for banana pie).... that made the difference.  She died at 84 and was totally lucid to the end, but only those 2 long ago recipes didn't work out right.

I got less than 3 hours sleep (so FitBit tells me), came in here to take a nap & here I am........ :-[    It's hot & humid here, my little weather thingy isn't right & I don't know how to fix it.  I'll worry about that when it turns cool.  Have a great day, everyone!

I did this and I erased it.  I'll try again but it probably won't be the same.

SHIRLEY, this was not a phone call that I received.  It was a popup on my computer telling me that Microsoft had detected a virus and that I needed to deal with it immediately or lose everything.  Immediately after that, another popup came telling me to call Microsoft at this number and they would help me to deal with the virus.  They added that it was
VERY important to do it right away or risk losing everythin on my computer.  And I couldn't exit the popups.

So I shut down my computer and called my computer guys.  They told me that it IS a scam and that I did exactly the right thing.  He said the only way to get them off your computer is to shut down.  Then he asked me if I was still shut down.  I said I was and he told me to turn it back on so he could take a look and tell me there was in fact, a virus.  There wasn't and I found out for nothing.

So however you get this message, don't fall for it!  Shut down!  Now I'm going to "shut up" and go get some supper.  Be alert!  Stay sharp! Dont get got!

Good Night Everyfriend!  This has been a most relaxing day.  It wasn't a "do-nothing" day because I got a lot of things done.  Most of them don't show so you might say I just did them for my own pleasure.  And that's OK!

I'm off to bed because tomorrow is a WM day and being Friday, it's bound to be busy.  I sure hope my favorite CSM is working!  Good night All!  Sleep peacefully and wake refreshed!  I hope you all find relief from whatever ails you and that tomorrow turns out to be your best day!  God bless us. every one!

Good evening......football has started...ugh!

LLOYD, hey are you trying to buy another horse?  I thought you were selling out and hitting the road?

JANE, if you felt you accomplished a lot today, I feel sure you did!  Rest well and I hope your Friday will prove to be a good one.  I think we all love having family visit, but it does seem to wear us down rather we want to admit it or not.  I miss them the second they drive off and wish it was them coming rather than leaving.......I know that is how we all feel!

CALLIE, I sure enjoyed reading about Ms Ellen getting a part in a play.  This might just be the gig that will get her noticed and the offers will begin to flood in.

JUNE, I do hope help will come to you tomorrow.  The fires are so bad out in your state....I pray for rain to help the fire fighters and to clear the air.  Rest well and awake feeling like Our June that is ready to take on the day!

GLORIA, I saw on the news here Sunday morning that a tornado was headed directly at Weston, Mass. where my son and DIL live.   I called my DIL and asked if she was OK.....she was not aware of the tornado warning but said it was pouring rain and flooding.....they cancelled the tornado warning right as I called her.  Kurt is here in CO and I was worried about her having to deal with this alone!  Thankfully she did not have to.  She was very appreciative that I would call her!

CAROL, our kiddos started back to school today ......hard t9 believe their summer vacation is over.  Enjoy your weekend with your family.  We have a grandson’s birthday party on Saturday also.  Our Luke is turning 10.  Happy Birthday wishes to your daughter.  How about the big illegal marijuana busts here in the city this morning?  Just heard there were 55 homes and business.  I am glad they caught these no gooders!  It does not matter how nice of a neighborhood you live in.....they are out there. Thankfully I did not hear about any here in Douglas County.

LARRY, I realized today we do not have a Ruby Tuesday’s near us, so signing up for their offers will do me no good after all.  I hope you and Pat enjoyed your meal there again today.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're supposed to get some rain later today but right now it's a heavenly 74º!  I could take this all summer!

The doggies have had their pill and we're waiting for the "boinger" for breakfast.  I hope you all have a lovely day doing something or nothing or maybe a little of both.

Denver the game plan is to do both. we have put a down payment on a class A motor home. we plan on getting in it and traveling as much as we feel like. we are selling out the farm with life time rights. as long as we are both alive either or it is still the survivor's, when we are both gone home it belongs to our friend Bob and his Family. he now helps or dose's the hay baling so we have feed for the cattle. as long as we are alive and want we can sell any part or all the cattle or machinery as we need cash to live. now as for horses do not need the big Belgians we had we do no farming Rowe crop farming all in grass now. we have a good buggy with hard rubber tires on it, good for paved roads. with shoes on the horses with horse shoe boream on them to keep them from slipping and falling and getting hurt, good buggy ride is fun. hope I have not confused you further.

Hi Everyone. Getting a late start today as had an early morning appointment with the PA at my Primary Care Doctor's Office.  Late yesterday afternoon we had over an inch of rain, which gives us a little over 3 1/2 inches of rain in the last few days.  We are set to get to 90 degrees this afternoon and more chances of rain in the late afternoon.  I hear the yard people in the neighborhood and I hope they get my yard mowed and trimmed today as it has now been over 2 weeks.  The housekeeper is also here today.

We had a really good meal at Ruby Tuesday's yesterday that had two chicken breast so we were able to bring one for each of us home and will enjoy it this evening for our main meal which will be a salad meal.  The coupon for the buy one get one entree at the restaurant yesterday saved us $16. Other than fixing the salad I plan on the rest of the day being a restful one.

I mentioned the smiley faced mashed potatoes.  Here is a link that will show you what I was talking about.  We got these at Walmart and they were frozen:  https://www.target.com/p/mccain-smiles-mashed-potato-shapes-22oz/-/A-14759242  The potatoes come out of the bag looking just like it shows on the package.

The morning has gotten away from me as Pat came and and we chatted for quite awhile.   So I am just going to pass on individual comments. I have read all of the postings since yesterday.

Our mornings and nights are cool again - this is more average.

MaryTX:  Thanks for the information in instant pot cooking.  I have made 5 meals with it so far and the kitchen didn't explode.  I use Pinterest but don't want to widen Facebook beyond friends and family.

Jenny:  Here they voted to make the drug legal and still so many are bent on making side money - what a dangerous place.  How could they grow the pot when children are in the house.

I agree, visiting with family is super great and it just exhausts us too.  Would not trade it though.  I haven't seen you outside - :D  I look up when we pass by.

Larry:  It is always nice to bring home the unused portions.  Anything to making life easier.

JUNE, I couldn't help laughing at your post.  I could "hear" the disgust and frustration in your voice and I could see you "reading your eyes out" and having to pick them up off the floor and put them back into your face.  I sure hope you get your computer back soon.  I don't know what I'd do without mine.

I'm off to bed. Today was a long one.  My favorite CSM wasn't there today and I worked a long register for the second half of my shift.  I was so tired that I almost texted my daughter to tell her I would go along to the Amish Store with her.  But I came home, had lunch and played "computer" for a while and I felt better.  So I went

And now, GOOD NIGHT my friends.  God be with you.  Sleep well and wake refreshed.  I be back in the morning God willing and the creeks don't rise!

There are lots of things around
your  house that can harm your pets and children....

House plants being only one of them....
Here is a short list of plants we love:
but have to be very weary of:

        https://dengarden.com/gardening/Dangerous-Beauties-Twenty-Toxic-Houseplants-to-Avoid-Around-Children-and-Pets

Mold silently growing in dark damp places..
really  sneaky and very very harmful.

Prescription Drugs,  (heart meds etc.  The
list is very very long)  ..

Sharp knives... (always scare me, if I slip
and accidently cut my self  (on coumadin)

And of course there is always the adult
bar filled with all kinds of alcohol...

And even cigarettes tucked away,
so certain family member can grab
one when needed...

To keep our family's safe we have to be
educated to always be aware. of what
we have growing inside and out side of,
our homes..

Farm equipment ...  and so forth...

Hazards around the home are very dangerous
and of course there is always that fall in the
tub that happens more then we can imaging.

Marajuana is just one more plant that people
who choose to grow it, must be aware of the
dangers of leaving it unattended ...

https://www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle/features/a-guide-to-safety-proofing-your-home-for-the-summer-holidays-409090.html

Thanks for reminding us of the dangers
of growing marijuana  .... not sure where
that ends up on the list,  but good to know
that we all must be aware of the possible
problems when and if we decide to grow it.

Hi Everyone. We have an overcast morning but very little chance of rain later today.  We actually went through a whole day and night with no rain in our area.  I plan on attending a meeting this morning and then this afternoon Pat and I plan on going to Dairy Queen for our main meal of the day and I will pop into Walmart for a couple of things and that will be it for today.  I have fixed Pat's breakfast as she was in pain when she got up.  I will probably watch some of the golf match later this afternoon.

Carol, like you I really don't use Facebook except to read postings or look at photos from a few friends.  I think we will get a lot of use out of our Instant Pot in the future as it eliminates having to stand at the stove.  Pat has also found it good for sauteing or browning meat to seal it before cooking as it is deep enough that it doesn't splatter grease out of the kittle and makes cleanup a breeze.  She is ordering another set of 5 divided containers that are great for fixing up with leftovers and then you have ready to heat in the microwave dinners.  This will allow fixing 5 frozen homemade meals for us.  She has two empty now and will fix them with some of the left over loin roast and vegetables.  Add a small dish of applesauce or cottage cheese with jello powder and perhaps some pineapple on top and you have a delicious and quick meal.  Our salad meal last night was just right with the cut up left-over chicken breast.

June, maybe Gary calling and checking on your computer will spur them to get it done.  Good that you have a nice library available to you at your retirement home.

Jane, I think we have similar senses of humor as I also could visualize June having to put her eyes back in to continue to reading.  Glad you were able to rest after your long and tiring shift yesterday.  I heard the phrase "God willing and the creeks don't rise" all of the years I was growing up. Like you, when I read of all the dangers around us how are we still here and how did we get through childhood without the childproof caps on bottles and seals on containers.

Lloyd, nice to read that you finally got a nice shower yesterday and potential for more this coming week.
Hope you found what you wanted at the mull sale today.  I was never around mulls very much since we had no horses or mulls on our farm.  You don't see many people riding in buggies anymore.  The county I live in, Aiken, is noted for its many horse farms and shows it has.

Sandy, the many years we had the cat we didn't have any live plants and he wouldn't leave anything alone.  The only live plant we tried to grow was a shamrock but after he ate all the leaves off of it twice leaving only the stems we gave up on it.  That was interesting information on the various dangers we face. We always had outside pets on the farm and they managed not to kill themselves by eating a plant that would be toxic to them.  We also had marijuana growing wild  in our pastures but I had no idea what is was or what it was used for.

Kendrick has not bothered my houseplants and I do have a shamrock.  It it placed at the back of a table next to the window in between a couple of larger pots and there isn't enough room for him to get at it.  I have the plant out on the deck for a while and I have not seen him have any interest in it but he loves the quack grass in the geranium pot.

I just clicked on the Grand Haven link and saw the Kaye E Barker freighter leave one of the companies on the Grand River near Lake Michigan.  I think I have only seen twice when a freighter left Grand Haren.

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

TRYING to get a few things done this morning before I start to wither away....AND get myself ready for our Grandson Luke’s 10th Birthday Party today.  We are going to a place called Boondocks.  Not sure how the granny is going to get around and participate but I WILL give it my best shot!  We can not believe our boy is 10years old.....even more shocked to see our oldest G-son, Matt, turning 13! YIKES, where does the time go?

LLOYD, you explained very well to me about your plans for future travel and how your horses fit into it.  Thank you. I would love to take a carriage ride with you!  What fun!

CAROL, I do not think I have been out on the patio as much this year.....I sit out there early befor the sun gets too hot.  Shaking my head at these illegal growers, but very thankful they were busted.  I hope  they get more of them arrested for trying to make $$$ off of the illegal stuff!

JUNE, I feel your frustration regarding your computer issue.  I do hope Gary was able to light a fire under the repair people and you get your machine back soon.  Love and HUGS to you, sweet lady.

I do not have any live house plants due to my Kitty, Smokey.  He is a indoor cat, but just recently I have been letting him go out with me and boy does he love it.  He rolls in the grass and eats a little bit of it....he loves it.

Talked to Mark this morning and he told me how much the baby is moving around now.....most people would say “kicking”, but Mark says, “practicing his golf swing”!  He will make a great daddy, and is already so “gaga” over this little bundle of joy.....the due date is the 27th of November.....I am getting a bit gaga too.

I must run.....have a wonderful day.

Jenny, it doesn't seem possible that Matt will be 13 because it seems it wasn't too many years ago you were wishing for a grandchild when others were telling about theirs.  I forget how many grandchildren you have.  Anyway, congratulations on the population explosion!

Being a Saturday, Grand Haven is quite busy today.

I just realized that I haven't been directed in here all day today so I came in the back door.  I'm sure glad someone forgot to lock it or I'd have been sitting out there crying my eyes out.  And then, like JUNE, I'd have had to put them back in place before I could see anything.

AMY, so good to see you posting again.  We were beginning to think you forgot about us!

JENNY, calm down!  That baby will be along just as soon as they open the first tee!

Now I'm off to bed so I wish you all a GOOD NIGHT, happy dreams and restful sleep and a refreshed awakening!  God bless us, every one!

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be another beautiful and sunny morning with it getting into the low 90's this afternoon.  I am going to Sunday School this morning and then will come home and get Pat so we can go to Church.  Last evening she said she planned to go but that will depend on how she is doing this morning.  If she goes we will stop on the way home to get something for our lunch and if not, as usual, I will pick up something to bring home for our lunch.  I did watch quite a bit of the golf championship yesterday and plan on watching the last part of it today.

Mary Ann, don't be too shocked if someday you look at your shamrock and all of the leaves are gone.  Cats can easily jump to get where they want to be.  They can be sneaky as our cat left our shamrock plant alone for a long time and then all of a sudden jumped up and ate all the leaves while we were gone from the house.  The second time he managed to jump from a cabinet next to the refrigerator up on top of the refrigerator where we thought the plant would be safe.  It wasn't safe and all the leaves disappeared again. The score was cat 2 and humans 0 in that little game.

Amy, I did miss your posting yesterday and sure hoped that all was OK up your way.  I see you were just busy with garden and other responsibilities.

Jenny, is Boondocks a place designed for kids like Chucky Cheese.  I hope you had a good time and I bet Luke did.  Matt is the same age are my third great grandchild.  The years do fly by.  You are so fortunate to be a part of your grandchildren's lives after waiting a long time for them. I like Mark's explanation of the new baby's movements. I bet the child will have a set of golf clubs at a very early age.

June, nothing wrong with just letting the day happen since that is what it is going to be anyway.  Glad the print came back to the size you like as can see it make your writing much easier.

Jane, hope you enjoyed a restful night and I hope you have today off from work.

Lloyd, nice to read you had a successful day at the horse sale yesterday.  Do you now have to train the horses or are they already trained?

Larry some of both. they two of green broke and the third is a un broke colt. needs more age on it. a buggy (mine) is a two seated large enough to hall four adults. you may think of it as a carriage. I also have a davenport wagon. it is a high narrow iron wheel wagon. I have two spring seats that will set on the side boards. four people can be seated in it. some time when I get motivated i will take pictures of them and post them for viewing. Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been to church, stayed for coffee hour, swung by the Farmers' Market on the way home and made a quick stop at WM for a couple of items.

The weather here is a bit cooler, too.  It was REALLY foggy when I got up and it made me think of Fall weather but it was gone by the time I left for church at 7:45.

LLOYD, it doesn't appear that you are planning to retire if you are taking on the training and breeding of horses.  I don't think you know the meaning of the word "retirement"!  It's not in your nature to relax.

LARRY & BUBBLE, thanks for sharing the video.  That young made is very special.  I, too, hope people see it and volunteer to help him in this project.

Don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of this day but I'll think of something!  I hope you all enjoy it so much that you regret it's ending tonight!  Wouldn't that be special!!

I'm throwing in the towel for today.  All I did was fold and put away two loads of laundry and remake one of the beds that were used when my daughter and granddaughter were here.

I've got glowing reports on my zucchini bread.  Seems I hit on a good recipe.  Even the guys like it.  I guess I'm make some more of that.

I'm going to wish you a Good Night and a happy tomorrow.  Some regulars are missing today.  I hope they are having so much fun that they just plain didn't have time to tell us what they are up to.  Hopefully, they'll tell us tomorrow.  Sleep well and wake refreshed.  And may God bless us, every one!

Larry, I thoroughly enjoyed the links about the wheel chairs.... saved to send my kids.  When all 3 were in engineering, WSU worked with the cerebral palsy unit near campus, they did various things to help make life easier for the people living in the housing. My oldest son worked for an aircraft company for a few years after graduation & when offered considerably less money to work for CP research, he took the job.  He has a couple patents for wheel chairs but sadly, the company could "loan him out" to design for big businesses & make lots of money while they paid him pennies.  So he went back to the aircraft company & retired when the company moved out of state. He watches his grandchildren a lot & helps me (I pay him) and helps a lot of friends for free.  This would be something he would really enjoy doing.  He loves working with kids and because he spent 4 years with braces on his legs, can relate.  Thanks...

Lloyd, my uncle had mules that were his pride & joy, they lived on a farm east of Jefferson City.  Every year he came to the fair & the main attraction was the mules, he would come over to the house & had to tell Dad & Mom all about them.  That uncle & Dad were best friends before they married sisters, so loved getting together.  For anyone not understanding, Missouri is noted for their mules & when wars were fought in rough terrain, they used mules to get through.  Mules are sure footed & stronger than most horses & I'm guessing, Lloyd, maybe don't eat as much as your Belgians?  The last years I saw them at the MO State Fair, mules were much bigger than what most people think of. Good luck with yours.

Jane, we also had a short few minutes of "nice" morning & got pretty steamy fast.  Hope for rain tomorrow & a little cooler... I'll find an excuse to get out in it.  Time to go feed cats, did I ever thank  you for the recipe you cook for your pups?  These cats are so picky I guess I'll just keep giving them what they already like.  The chicken I got them this week was overcooked & dry, they don't like if it's tough, I'm thinking I need to get the drumsticks & thighs when on sale & boil/pressure cook, maybe even put some rice in it... & be better than the rotisserie chicken.

I take all the bones to the river bank & something cleans every speck up by morning.  I think there is a cat living down there, have not seen the fox or coyote lately.  Sadly, saw a goose on the sand bar across the river tonight, either a broken leg or fish line around so it couldn't stand up.  Breaks my heart when I see them helpless.

Bedtime so better go give cats their last meal for the night..... Sweet dreams & God Bless Everyone.... Shirley

Quick post before my iPad dies.....babysitting our grands tonight.

We did have a fun time at Luke’s Birthday Party.  It was really HOT out so most of us got back inside after a game of goofy golf as we thought we were going to melt! Yes, LARRY,  it is like Chucky Cheeses, but much larger with bowling, goofy golf, bumper boats and race cars. The lines were very long so only Matt and his dad stayed out in a line for over one hour to ride them!

Hope EVERYFRIEND enjoyed their day......

Good Morning All!  We have rain here again.  It started sometime during the night and is supposed to continue all day.  Unfortunately, I have rain INSIDE as well.  If it's not one thing it's another.  I'm waiting until it's late enough to talk to my son to see if he knows someone who can track down my leak and plug it up!

Looks like a fun day in store for me!  And I didn't even leave my car windows open this time!

Pick up meds today and general work about the house.

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we will be having another nice and warm summer day here in South Carolina with only a small chance of rain this afternoon and a high of 94 degrees.  Yesterday was an enjoyable day with the morning at Church and then Pat and I had lunch at Zaxby's enjoying a small chicken salad and then a quiet afternoon.  I did watch the golf tournament most of the  afternoon.  Nothing is on the schedule for today so will just have to wait and see what develops.  I don't expect to leave the house.

Amy, I am very often  amazed at the great ideas people come up with such as the Magic Wheels costumes for these special children.  Nice to read that your grass is no longer crispy.

Lloyd, will you do the training of your new horses or will you have someone do that for you.  I can just visualize you and Nancy riding down the road in your carriage.  Have you ever done parades with your team and carriage?

Jane, still a few more weeks before we will be seeing much fall weather.  You sure had a busy morning yesterday.  I hope you found some time for rest yesterday afternoon.  I bet that zucchini bread was delicious.

deAngel, what a full week you had.  Glad you didn't need another shot for your blood situation and that your leg is doing OK.  I am convinced that the dermatologists have a gold mine in that little can of spray they use to freeze our skin spots.  Glad you could have a quiet day on Saturday.  Do you play your Wii game very often?  I haven't heard anyone mention those for a long time.

Shirley, I bet your engineering son will enjoy the videos showing the Magic Wheels.  Some of those creations certainly would require a lot of skill as well as imagination.  I do remember some of the neighbors having mules as I was growing up in Missouri. My little home town had an annual horse shoe that was their claim to fame.  It was held for three days, the first was a pulling contest for teams to pull a heavy sled.  The second day was quarter horses and the last day was the three and five gated horses.  They always had an organ would play the music as the horses did their high stepping and then had events where they pulled carts. They were truly beautiful animals and that was my favorite night.  I just did a quick search and see they still have the show although it looks like it has changed somewhat.  I read that it started during World War II and it is now sponsored by the Lions Club.

Jenny, that sounds like quite a place where Luke enjoyed his birthday celebration.  Glad you found a cool place to be while they were outside.

I just looked back to see when Gloria last posted as she usually posts here daily.  I find she hasn't posted since August 8 (unless I missed seeing a later posting).  I sure hope she is OK and wonder if she may be experiencing more computer problems.

Good morning everyone, sorry I have been missing. This weather is not nice to me or anyone with arthritis. If it isn't raining the humidity is so high it might as well rain and get it over with. I have spent most of the week laying on the couch and watching TV. Just plain lazy?
Today is a holiday here. Do any of you remember 8-14-1945? The end of WW2. That day is still celebrated here on the second Monday in August.  Rhode Island is the only state that still celebrates that day. Sad when so many of our men died. I am sure that there are many here who served or had family members WHO fought for our freedom.

I am OK, just not up to sitting here responding to all of you. Just praying for some cooler and low humidity days.

Gloria de..... my husband had gout in his big toe so bad he would do anything to relieve the pain.  One med he took at it's worse was something with horrible warnings.  I couldn't convince him that every time he ate grapes or drank my grape juice it got bad, but that was not on the warning list so he wouldn't believe me. I can't drink orange juice & know it.... get sores in my mouth almost instantly.  Only time I dare eat an orange is when they are "in season" & picked fairly ripe. I never drink OJ, but do drink Welch's grape juice.  I kept track of Cas' worst times but he still wouldn't believe, he loved grapes.  I think all of our bodies can have a problem with whatever hits them wrong.  Hope you can find your "trigger" and help the pain.  Thanks for the sympathy about my hands, it isn't as bad as most, I'm sure, but they sure look awful lumpy.

I've been thinking back about VJ Day & not many left in here that would have been in the war, but expect you, June & Mary Ann remember that day in particular.  How sad our kids, grands & greats are not taught how desperate the world was to end the war.  A long ago neighbor provided photos of the areas where the bombs were dropped.  She survived a Japanese prison camp but saw her husband have his tongue cut out.  She didn't talk about it but a news reporter called to ask me what I know about her (nothing, I was only a friend), told me about her history.  Sad ending she had.

We are not reminded of the end of WW II but we are reminded of VJ Day in June.  I was an adult at the time but I don't remember how/if we celebrated.  There were several times we went downtown to celebrate and the end may have been one of them.  Our Campau Square (center of downtown) was crowded for each occasion but there were enough of them that I can't put a finger on a single one.

It is warm here and my a/c just went on for the first time.  I set it high at night and had to turn it down to make it go on.

Now, i'm going to the kitchen to see what I can get to eat.  As far as I am concerned it is going to include a slide of bread (15-grain) but I don't know what will go with it.

Happy Monday.....

Sitting out on the patio under the umbrella enjoying a beautiful morning.

GLORIA, I knew 8/14/45 was the end of WW 2, but had not realized it until I read your post just now.  Thank you.  I always like to send  my dad anything that is associated with WW2, and thank him for his service.  I am sorry to read how much you are suffering with your arthritis due to the humidity.  Has the cbd rub helped you at all?  Most people think it’s best effectiveness is when it is taken internally.

Kurt and the boys will be down from Vail tomorrow afternoon to spend the last night with us before we have to take them to the airport to fly back home to Boston.  They are not looking forward to the heat and humidity.  They really enjoy their time here hiking in the mountains.

I hope you all enjoy a good Monday.

I'm confused!  I was always taught (and also read it in books and saw movies of it) that VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) is celebrated on May 8 and VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day) is celebrated on Sept. 2.  What is today?  I actually googled it and couldn't find anything!

I'm off to work!  Wish me smiles!

V-J Day - World War II - HISTORY.com
www.history.com/topics/world-war-ii/v-j-day

Since then, both August 14 and August 15 have been known as “Victoryover Japan Day,” or simply “V-J Day.” The term has also been used for September 2, 1945, when Japan's formal surrender took place aboard the U.S.S. Missouri, anchored in Tokyo Bay.‎

Jane, I found this online.  Now I'll look for VE Day.  I thought VJ Day was in July.  Now, I'm confused.
**********************************
August 14
Jubilant Americans declared August 14 “Victory over Japan Day,” or “V-J Day.” (May 8, 1945â€"when the Allies accepted Nazi Germany's official surrenderâ€"had previously been dubbed “Victory in Europe Day,” or “V-E Day.”)

I wasn't sure until Gloria mentioned the holiday today (I quit taking the paper after my husband died so never know what day it is)..... but knew it was V-J Day in August & thought it was May for V-E Day.  I called my brother to see if he had his flag out, didn't have but was going to as soon as he got off the phone.  He reminded me that our brother that was in the German POW camp was already home, released by Allies & told to "find a way to a port & hop any ship for the US they could get on".  He only weighed 85 pounds when released. After the war they discovered the ship the Navy brother was on was in the port at Brussels at the same time the one was trying to find a ride home.... But my 92 year old brother knew exactly where he was on this day in 1945! And I sure know where I was, actually skipping down the sidewalk in joy that "the war is over".

Jane, hope "the roof got fixed .... "  (I know there's a song there....) with the least amount of expense.

Jenny, give your father a big "thank you" for me, and glad he is doing so well.  My Navy brother will be 93 in Sept... the older one was in the Air Corp & POW camp died in 1992.  Sort of wish your kids would stick closer to home, would be hard for me to leave that gorgeous Vail behind & not be able to visit every week end or so... But you have a great excuse to travel east & west to visit, right?

Good Morning my friends.

I guess the date is not so important.  I'm sure we'll see flags on September 2 but whatever day sticks in one's mind is the important one.  I will always remember the day that my cousin's husband was released from the Japanese prison camp.  He was never the same after that but we all welcomed him home with all the love in our hearts.  And isn't that what matters most?  Our boys came home!

Today is "Movie Day" for me.  My friends and I are going to see the Winnie the Pooh movie (I forgot the name of it).  And then tonight I'm going with my daughter to see "To Catch a Thief" with Cary Grant and Grace Kelley.  Our local theater is now owned by Bucknell University and they use it for teaching purposes quite often.  When they do, the movie is open to local people for a very low price.  That's what's happening tonight.  So I'll be all "movied" out at the end of this day.

I better get this day started.  Lots to do this morning if I'm going to goof off the rest of the day.

Shirley, roof not fixed yet.  I called three different people.  No one called back yet.  Must be lots of leaky roofs in this area of heavy rainfall.  I was hoping that someone would at least get to look at it while it's raining and dripping.  Which reminds me,  I better go check the buckets.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend!  Take it and make it whatever you wish it to be.  It's yours!

Good morning everyone.

Just a quick note as we are off to the city. Dropping off 10 quilt tops, picking up more kits and picking up some finished quilts. We will be all over the city and so happy to get back home.

Jane, they can tell where your roof is leaking....water/rain leaves a stain. Hope it is a quick inexpensive fix for you.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning, Amy... I'm still worrying about Jane's roof, too.  Also wondering if you get a break in your work days when fall comes, you do lead a busy life.

Jane, any chance you can get into your attic to see if maybe the rain is coming in around one of the vent pipes & following a pipe to drop off?  Might just need the tar kind of stuff put around those pipes.  Happened here not long after we had a new roof put on, all of a sudden my stove top was full of water, drip coming out of the fan/light over the stove.  Cas got in the attic & discovered it was not the vent over the stove but had traveled along that pipe to a bigger vent at the peak... seems the roofers had neglected to coat the flashing around that pipe.... and that darn song keeps going through my heat... "the roof's gonna leak & I don't care"..... but can't remember what the song is all about.  We put 3 new wood/shake shingle, the thick ones, on this house & the last hail damage we had a lifetime whatever you call that other kind put on.  Insurance paid for the last 3 but out of pocket for the first one.  We chickened out right after we bought the house because it looked too old to take a lot of snow on it.  Good luck.  Bet if we lived closer between the 2 of us we would be checking it out, you think?

Have a fantastic day, everyone, had light rain overnight & slept like a baby with the door open a tad.  Locked the fur babies in the other end of the house so didn't have to worry about them out in the rain OR have them pestering me. When they want me up to feed or let them out, they get on the bed & start cleaning themselves, then jump up & down & drives me crazy (and as someone once said, "I don't have far to go").  Had ribs cooking in the crock pot all night so house smelling pretty coo. Will freeze this batch & add the BBQ sauce & put on the grill or in the oven when ready to eat.

Hi Everyone.  We are suppose to have a totally sunny day today, which is very unusual for us as we normally see clouds around 3 or 4 pm every afternoon.  It will be in the 90's.  Yesterday was a rather wasted day as spent a lot of time resting and listening to my audiobook with my eyes closed.  I am feeling more chipper this morning so hope to have a good day.  I only have one thing on the schedule and that is a friend will be stopping by around 10 am to spend an hour with me.  Unless Pat wants to go out to eat I don't expect to even leave the house today.

Gloria, glad to read that you were just trying to stay as comfortable as you could and were not otherwise ill.  We must each do what is best for us as no one else knows exactly how we are feeling or what we are feeling up to doing.  Just glad to see you checking in so we know you are OK.

Sandy, I saw we had 100% humidity this morning when I checked our local weather.  As you say it will soon be fall, about 4+ weeks from now.

Shirley, when I see some of the anarchists and others on TV talking about doing away with our military and our police and having totally open borders I just have to shake my head. I guess they have no concept of what has been required in terms of sacrifices of lives and families to give us the freedoms we have. What horrors your friend and her husband endured at the hands of the Japanese. I read your suggestion that Jane check out her attic.  I hope she lets her son or someone she contracts with do that as she (and you) certainly don't need to be climbing ladders.  Fortunately our attic is mostly floored in and the door to it is at the head of the stairs so easy and safe to get into although still have to be careful as there are some uneven parts of the flooring.

Jenny, glad you were able to sit out on your patio.  Our weather really doesn't give us that option very often.  I don't think I have used my outside furniture in the last two years, although there have been some days or at least morning I could have done so.  Do your Boston grandchildren start school next week.

Lloyd, thanks for the info on how you participated in parades and also fixed plots to demonstrate to those who wouldn't otherwise know about growing things.

June, sure hope that blood pressure is down today and you are feeling better.

Jane, you are really binging on movies by attending with your friends and then again tonight with your daughter.  Nice you can get in to see a movie without breaking the bank.  It has been many years now since I have gone to the movie theater the last time being when the movie "Titanic" was in the theaters. I see that movie came out in 1997.  My wife went to several movies over the years with a couple of her lady friends and usually went to see a Disney movie.

Amy, did you make all 10 of the quilt tops that you were delivering today.  It sounds like you have a pretty busy day planned.
deAngel, I would be terrible at playing the Wii games as have no talents for games like bowling and golf.

There's one panel about 3 ft by 3ft that lifts out to get into the "CRAWL" space that is laughingly referred to as "attic" in this house.  Thank goodness, the leak is right inside the panel.  I was able to put a board in and set two buckets under the major leaks.

I don't remember who mentioned my son but he's on a much needed vacation about 300 miles from here.  He did give me the name and phone number of a reliable roofer that he uses.  But we've had so much rain around here that I'm sure I'm not the only one with a leaky roof.  So far, the water seems to be collecting in the buckets and not coming through the ceiling.  My  homeowner's insurance is $200. deductible and I'm praying that this can be a cheap fix. Maybe I should call that guy on TV that cuts holes in his boat and fixes them with tape or glue or whatever.

Shirley, my son is 6' 3" and my local SIL is 6' 4".  My Grandson who is coming home this weekend is our last basketball star at 6'5".  My CRAWL space is about 4 feet at the highest and sloping down to less than a foot at the edge.  What I need is a 2 foot tall guy with very long arms!  Know anyone like that?

And LARRY, I don't feel uncomfortable on a stepladder emptying the buckets.  I don't have to get any more than head and shoulders through the hole and it's very solid to hold onto.  Also, very sturdy stepladder.  If I didn't feel comfortable, I just plain wouldn't do it!

Oh, June, I'll be so glad for you to get your computer back.... we enjoy so little at this age and missing an important connection to the "outside" world is beyond upsetting.  Hope it won't be long now.  I was telling my kids about your need for salt (& included Larry's challenge one time).... they had trouble wondering if I made it up 'cause they are always fussing at me for salting everything.  Then they got to talking about if your "salt" was the lack of iodine from not getting enough salt.

Do you know or have they said why you have a lack of salt?  My young gr-daughter had to have her thyroid removed because of cancer & will have to take a pill the rest of her life.  It took a few months to regulate that pill.  Cas had to take iodine pills because he didn't get enough salt. Seems the fast foods & all pre-fixed foods, about anything bought from the store... don't use salt with iodine so even if we get a lot of sodium, it may not be the kind we need. I'm a little concerned because I've gotten into a bad habit of fast food & TV dinners, etc., I do buy iodized salt & crave it on everything.  My sons don't salt anything, lots of pepper but no salt.  We really do "have serious discussions" about this, any thoughts, anyone?

My whirlwind daughter was here for several hours, she thoroughly enjoyed the ribs I've been cooking & I am SO glad to feed her.  I still have a couple more packs to cook, will take filling my large crock pot 3 more times, but can offer ribs to anyone that comes in hungry!  She brought me a new Fitbit Versa.... got it set up on the computer I bought in CO last trip.  Then she made sure it synced with my iPhone, so up & running.  I didn't need it but have had to learn how to be a gracious receiver, so disappointing to the giver when a gift is not well received.

Jane, that crawl space is what we had in the first house we bought but the one we built & this one has a steep enough peak I can almost stand up straight.... NOT my 6'2" husband.  When I put down the rolled insulation in the attic of the one we built, I had sheets of plywood that I moved from one end to the other in the center & used a long piece of quarter-round to push it out to the eves.  The house was 100' long before we added on another 2 car garage with extra door width entrance, & we had a 4' overhang front & back, so was a super hot job.  It took us a year to build that house & my husband was out of town 3 months of the year.... left me plenty jobs to do from Monday to Friday, week ends I did his laundry & cooked up a storm.  We didn't move in until that last floor was carpeted or waxed.  Like you, I'm not uncomfortable on a ladder but am conscious of being "alone" when doing something we've all be warned about.  Our sons got my short legs.... they are about 5'10", but my daughter's 2 daughters are at least that size.  Cas' mother was a tall lady, but both of my parents had siblings taller than they were. My oldest gr-son is 6'5", thin as a rail & eats like a horse. Good luck with your leak.

Cats have been patient with the rains today, but after staying in all night, they are anxious to go out.  They won't eat their chicken, may as well not try to bully them, cats don't bluff!!!

TisieSalt is essential to life

What does it mean to have low blood sodium?
Sodium is an essential electrolyte that helps maintain the balance of water in and around your cells. It’s important for proper muscle and nerve function. It also helps maintain stable blood pressure levels.
Insufficient sodium in your blood is also known as hyponatremia. It occurs when water and sodium are out of balance. In other words, there’s either too much water or not enough sodium in your blood.
Normally, your sodium level should be between 135 and 145 milliequivalents per liter (mEq/L). Hyponatremia occurs when your sodium level goes below 135 mE

Tisie-Shirley,lack of sodium in the blood stream can be fatal .cows in the pasture have a huge block of salt that they lick as needed. There are many interesting articles on the computer.

I went with my daughter to see "To Catch a Thief" starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.  It's an Alfred Hitchcock movie that was originally shown in the mid-1950s.  Interestingly, I saw this movie on it's first round in the same theatre where we saw it tonight.  It was just as good tonight as it was 60 years ago.  And the theatre was just as packed.

Bucknell University bought the theatre rather than let it go out of business some years ago and it was a boon for the town.  In the summer they have special showings of many of the classics on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 3 afternoons a week they have special movies for kids in the afternoon and they're free.  They have a lot of new things  and a lot of classics through the year in conjunction with the theatre arts department at the college and they're always open to the town.  Some of the perks of living in a college town.

I'm going to wish you all GOOD NIGHT because I'm planning to hit the sack a bit early tonight.  Tomorrow is a work day!  I hope you all sleep peacefully and wake refreshed to a new day!

Thank you, June, I am copying your every word to send my 3 kids.  When I grew up people took salt tablets in the summer..... of course we/everyone did sweat a lot with no AC!  I happen to like salt & sincerely believe our bodies tell us what we need if we listen.  Maybe that Twinkie was not exactly what the doctor ordered but just look what they do for our attitude, right?  ;D

Jane, I also saw it when it came out but have seen it on TV since, a couple times.  Great movie & some beautiful people in movies back then.  Sometimes I get the feeling this new generation wants to just look as dowdy & ugly as they can, but I don't have to look at them if I don't want to, right?  Okay, when you saw it 60 years ago was it a date, holding hands & all that gooey stuff?   :smitten:

One more package of ribs to cook tomorrow, got the crock pot full to cook all night.  Bargain or not, never going to do this again. I really thought we'd be having one more picnic & would have been perfect to have them all tenderized & just put the BBQ sauce on, sizzle on the grill for a little while & ready to serve.  Reminds me of the expression, "like nailing Jello to a tree".... getting this many on the same path at the same time now.  Think I will just be the "inviteee" for the rest of my years.
