Mary, I think the cell phone is fixed except for adding back the apps. I have a haircut and hightlight scheduled for 5/9 and will get my mani-pedi the week before the wedding. I am so hard on my nail and they are so frail, I want to wait to the last minute.  I'm getting my hair cut the 9th because she always cuts it too short and I want a couple weeks for it to grow out a little.  I do play bridge tomorrow, so hope I have fun there. I've won 1st the last 2 times. Let's see if I can continue the run!  Doubtful.

Saturday the shredder is coming to the Lake House, so I will need to get stuff organized to take.  We've probably got 11 yrs of tax forms, etc, that I want to weed down to 3 yrs.

I don't think that I mentioned that I saw the first hummer of the year day before yesterday.  That make me happy!  All for now.  Sharon

Ray seems to be doing better. They're still using antibiotics on the pneumonia and now  nebulizer treatments. I went today to learn about a stair lift for our stairs.  I think we'll go for it.

I've read everything, but I'm too tired to respond to each.

Good morning, Buddies.  I enjoyed my lunch at Azalea Place, but my cards were not so good.  So no money for me yesterday.  A few of our regulars have a jillion master points, so I feel intimidated there, but the lunch is usually fairly good and most of the regulars are pleasant people--and hey, a day out with a meal is good anytime!

Sharon, I did have a nice Easter Sunday.  Tim was here when Olyne dropped me off after church.  We had a lovely service and our choir sang and invited those of us who knew the Hallalujah Chorus to sing along.  As a long time choir member, I knew it as did Olyne and we sang right along with the choir.

When I got home, Tim had just driven up to take me over to Ard's house (Kris's mom) for Easter dinner.  He'd baked the ham and Kris and Ard made the veggies and dessert.  We had a nice visit.  Ard has a new puppy--who was kind of a nuisance, but cute.  He begged a lot!  But I managed to ignore that.  Her other old dog was very well behaved and didn't beg.

I'm going out to play bridge with my Wednesday group today.  Terri just called and told me she could pick me up.  I am so thankful for her and the other bridge club members who will take me to bridge.  I wish Tim and his brothers would let me at least practice driving again with him, but I don't think that'll ever happen.  At least they haven't sold my car!  Tim uses it when he comes over in his truck to take me somewhere.  He's arranged for his buddy Eddie to take me to Kroger and to the library on Friday's and other days if I need somebody.  Eddie has recently become my new best friend!  He charges a reasonable amount and that leaves Tim and Kris free to go camping and other stuff they like to do on weekends.

I've cleaned up the kitchen and need to get into the shower and dress.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Sue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I'm still sitting here in my P.J.'s but will get dressed soon and outside for my morning walk.  I don't have much I need to do inside today, so will finish reading a David Baldacci mystery that is intriguing.  I need to call Eddie to make sure he'll take me to the library and to Kroger tomorrow.  I'm sure he'll be available, but I do like to check.

Jane, I'm glad to hear that Ray is feeling better.  Also think your getting a chair lift for your stairs is a great idea.  It'll save his energy quite a bit.  Thoughts and prayers being sent up for both of you.  Keep us posted.

Hi to Mary, Darlene, Sharon, and Every Other Buddy looking in.  I hope today is a good one for every Buddy.

Good morning ladies, I will be going to the Furry Friend luncheon, this month it is at another Thai place, after lunch will have the monthly general meeting but not at the same place. We usually have it at the Coos Bay Firehouse, but we got bumped for the next few months, so we had to find another place for the meetings.

Tomorrow Hospice is putting on the Volunteer Appreciation luncheon at the casino so I will be going there.

Freckles seems to be doing pretty good. I take her for a couple of walks during the day but nothing strenuous for her or for myself. I will take her with me today and  leave her in the car with all the windows open, Hopefully I can park right in front of the restaurant.

Sharon you just keep on whipping my rear at WWF.LOL 8)

SharonE

Jane, so glad to hear Ray is getting better.  I also think the chair lift is a great idea.  When we retired, I told John we had to be either on one floor or have an elevator.  Recently, I've seen some rather inexpensive elevators that can be added to an existing house. With my knees, I'm so glad we are on one floor.

Sue, I didn't do very well in bridge yesterday either although I wasn't the lowest.  It seemed that when I or my partner had high cards, the other didn't, so it kept our scores low.

Marilyn, don't feel bad about losing to WWF. My younger daughter beats me all the time and my older and I split it. Have you read all the tips? There are some you might not know.  Also, take advantage of the free swap. When you earn points, some go to that. Also, there is a spot at the bottom of the claim rewards page that says WATCH.  If you click on that, you have to watch a video/ad, but you get 3 pts every time.  You may know all this, but I have had to teach myself the past few months when I started playing with Mel & Lori.  I also play the solo games against the computer that start easy and get harder.  I'm getting better against them.

I have had problem with my right knee all week and have been using a cane or walker (at night) to keep from falling if it gives out. I wore 2 knee braces yesterday to bridge, but today notice my foot and ankle swelling, so I took one off.  I can't get another steroid shot till May 15, so am just being very careful and keeping my phone with me just in case.  I'll be glad when John gets home. It seems something goes wrong everytime he's gone!  I've warned my neighbors on either side of me that if they hear my car alarm sound, that it means I need help.

My irrigation guys came and turned on the water, but they still have to replace some drip lines next week.

Sharon

Sherry I don't see any tips, but I do know about the other things

Evening, Buddies...
Another long day.  I hope Ray can come home tomorrow.  Doc is trying to get his blood sugars regulated.  Other things are in good shape.

More tomorrow...

Jane

alpiner1

Jane I hope Ray comes home soon .  I was hospitalized with pneumonia in February 2018  for 5 days .  I was so lonesome even though my husband came to visit every day . It was  a 100 hundred mile round trip for him  but it meant so much to me .  I came home with oxygen & soon got a Nebulizer .  I

jane

Alpiner...We already have a nebulizer from his frequent lung problems...and I know he'll be using that at home.  His oxygen levels seem to be holding in the mid to upper 90s, so maybe no oxygen now.  We'll see.

We're fortunate that the hospital is a mile from our house and his care has been beyond excellent.  The new rooms are so large and the nursing, PT, dietician, diabetic nurse, etc. have been incredible.

I'm about to get dressed and get up there and see how things are and when I can get him home.  Patricia and I need to trade off so she's here to see about the measuring for the chair life.  Her brain is much clearer than mine at the moment. :smitten:  :coolsmiley:

Back later.

jane

maryz

The chair lift does sound like a great benefit, jane.  Thanks to alpiner's recommendation, I did get a Nebulizer, too. I don't use it daily, but when I do think I need it, it's great to have.  I hope he's home soon.

Margaret was here Wednesday.  She came for the young man's funeral - she thinks he may have died from a ruptured aneurysm (family history) - no indication of anything else, but there was an autopsy.  Sad for the family in any case.

This is a quieter week than most.  Both duplicate partners unable to play for various reasons, so only the bridge(?) here after supper yesterday.  I've talked to Kate this morning.  She's looking at houses to buy and wanted to just talk and bounce things off of me.  Fortunately, she can go almost anywhere and doesn't have to sell her house before buying another.  She does have to stay in KY until she turns 65, because of insurance coverage, but no limitations otherwise.

Happy weekend, Buddies!

Sorry about the size of the previous post.  I got it wrong the first time, and when I tried to edit it, it wouldn't let me change the font size.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Jane, I do hope Ray is able to come home soon and that his BS is stablized.  Does he ever put cinnamon on his cereal and other things?  I have read that it really helps BS levels and since I have been eating cereal with cinnamon, my fasting glucose has really dropped and it wasn't bad to start with. I just have bad genetics in that area, so I watch it carefully.  The chair lift idea is great. How soon will they be able to install it?

Mary, sorry your duplicate partners aren't available this week. Why is Kate moving?  Wouldn't it be wiser to wait till she can move out of state to be near you or Margaret? Of course, none of my business, but I just wondered.  Have you ever seen an evening grosbeak?  I'm over the moon because I saw 1 twice this AM. It was a first for me. They are so beautiful.

Marilyn, somewhere, I saw tips, but can't say where now. How's your furbaby?

Sue, where are you?  Oh, just remembered today is grocery day with Eddie for you.

My knee is still giving out periodically and I've been afraid to get in the shower, so I called my neighbor to whom I had lent my shower chair and asked him to bring it over since he's done with it.  I just felt too vulnerable in the shower with John gone.So I can shower now. Talk to you later.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, I've seen the rose-breasted grosbeaks (male and female) many times.  At the house, we usually had two pairs that stopped for a few days on their migrations.  But I'm not familiar with the "evening grosbeak".  The rose-breasted ones are unmistakable.

Kate will be much closer to me where she is looking than where she is now, and closer to her son and DIL.  It'll be five years before she's comfortable moving out of KY (because of the health insurance), and I know she's wanted to be out of her two-story house for a long time.

Glad you were able to get your shower chair back.  I'm glad I have folks here to call if I should fall.  I think about how vulnerable I'd be if I had stayed in the house by myself.  Scary!

Ray's home, and that's a relief.  Now to get everything worked out about what happens when with pills, neb7lizer, glucose check, two kinds of insulin, etc.

We also have winter storm warnings!  The ground is warm enough it should melt, but it can pile up if it comes fast and dangerous if also windy.  Temp is dropping now.

Jane

JeanneP

we finaly got a nice day today . The Marothan is tomorrow and tonight a 5 K. But tomorrow going to be stormy and heavy winds. So sad as about 30 thousand people signed up to run in it. Pays to stay out of town until after 4pm.
Sherry. I have noticed what I try answering you on FaceBook now that it never shows up. Have you changed something?

I choke easily & choked on water a few days ago .  My husband got out the Nebulizer & a bit later the water came out !  Dr. said to take it when we travel too .

maryz

alpiner, sorry about your choking spell - glad the Nebulizer worked quickly.  I plan to keep mine with me, too.

Good morning, Buddies.  It's a bright sunshiny day here in Auburn.  I've read the paper and had breakfast and am now enjoying my second cup of coffee.  My plan for the day includes the usual walk outside and perhaps a load of laundry.  I have new library books to read and will probably take one of the books out on my deck (after I sweep off the leaves) and read out there.  I'll also call Olyne to see if she will be going to SS and/or church tomorrow.

Alpiner, I'm sorry about the choking spell, but glad the Nebulizer helped!  It sounds like it's important for you to take it with you when you travel.  Keep us posted.

Jeanne, hooray that you are having a nice day today.  I hope the storm bypasses you and the marathon runners have good weather for the race.

Jane, hooray that Ray is home.  I know that must be a relief and he is probably much happier about it.  Good luck with arranging equipment, visits to the doctor, etc.  Keep us posted.  Thoughts and prayers from Alabama for both of you.

Mary, I'm still here at my house--and glad to be here--but I do worry about falling and am careful when I walk outside daily.  Most of my younger neighbors are either working or out taking young children to play dates, etc.  I play bridge at a retirement home once a month and most of the other players are widows, although a few still have husbands and are living the in cottages next to the retirement home.  My twice monthly bridge clubs meet at member's homes and I still am not driving, so I must ask someone to drive me.  And that is a major pain in the rear!

Sharon, I have a shower chair, too, and it's really appreciated.  The shower in the bathroom attached to my bedroom is large enough to have a chair and I do enjoy my showers.  I have bars on the walls in that shower and do stand up to rinse off and feel safe in doing that.  I've never enjoyed bathing in a tub--for some reason I feel that I'm sitting there with all the dirt I washed off!

Hi to all the Buddies looking in this morning!  Enjoy your day!

Sue

SharonE

Hi Gals,  Mary, I misspoke the name of the bird--it is the rose breasted grosbeak.  Lucky you to have seen it so often.  It made at least 4 trips to the suet feeder yesterday that I saw, maybe more. Haven't seen it today.  Lots of goldfinch this year.  Now I understand why Kate is moving. If she wants a one story, or needs one, she should do it sooner rather than later. I was so glad when we retired to HH to a one story. We had had a 3 story in IN.  Glad she'll be closer to you when she moves.  I agree that it is a little scary to be alone in the house at our ages.

BTW, my computer guy told me that there is an Alexa app that can contact neighbors or friends for you when told. I'm going to find that and activate it soonest.

Alpiner, it must have been scary to choke. Glad you had the nebulizer. Keep it handy.

Jeanne, my FB under the name of Sherry Fordyce Ede was lost from my computer when it crashed about a year ago, although I still had it on my phone.  So I set up another account under Sherry Ede on the computer.  Now my phone crashed last week and I lost everything on it, so have had to set up the Sherry Ede account on it too. Not happy as I had a lot of photos and stuff on the other one.  Anyway, I have seen a few posts from you though, can't tell when or on which account.  If the new one won't accept you, friend me again.

Jane, I know both of you are happy to have Ray home. I don't envy you trying to keep track of everything. Maybe you should have a caregiver come in for a while till you get it all organized--or you could get an Alexa to remind you of med times, etc. I use her for that.  I hope Ray gets stronger and can continue with his chemo soon.  Sorry to hear about the snow coming.  Yuck!  If you get a chance, look at the pictures I posted of my azaleas and flowers in the front of our house.  Really looks nice this year.

Sue, I agree with you fully about the shower/tub choice. It was so nice to shower last night and wash my hair and not have to worry. You need to be super careful there by yourself and with your leg problem.  Do you wear a LifeAlert or similar?  If not, you should, and one that isn't limited to the house. That way, if you fell on your walk, you could get help.  I have been carrying an extra keyfob for my car on a lanyard so that I could hit the car alarm button to warn the neighbors that I need help. I've told them where the key is too. Just a precaution.

John will be home anytime now, thank goodness. I think he had a good time & plans for this to be his last tournament in Gatlinburg.

Hi Marilyn, Joy, Darlene, Ginny Ann, and whoever I've forgotten. Sharon

jane

What a nasty day....rain, snow, freezing ice pellets, slush, etc.  yucky.

I had to go out to get more glass storage containers.  Patricia was making soups and other things faster than I can get them into manageable containers.

I got his meds set up yesterday.  Now it's getting the new device calibrated to match the reading he gets from a finger stick.  This new one is a "button" that sticks into his arm, and you can scan it and don't need finger sticks.  Basic line is he needs to have some food every two or two and a half-hours.

Niece has gone home with her son who drove down from Zumbrota after he finished his vet calls.
She was a great help, but it's nice to have it just the two of us now..

Sorry to say it but winter is back here. No snow but really cold. It stay away for the Marathon runners early but by 10 am it starting storm. Rained all day. I have not even gotten dressed and think will just shower and put other PJs on.
Have a bad time with my tech stuff also. My desktop working o.k but what a mess with my Ipad and one other that works WiFi and its google that has them messed up. I have now got the new smart phone working some but have not put a google acct. on it yet. I have rung them up to work with me but it is another company not google who answered there service calls. Now they want you to pay  $60 for a month of help. Not paying for it.
Will let someone else work on the Smart phone . May try calling them later. Think I am going to go back to reading more and stop with the Tech Stuff for awhile. Ipad will not even let me shut it down. Some women voice who I can't understand just keep talking.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's a bright, sunshiny morning here in Auburn.  My newspaper wasn't here when I got out of bed, so I still have that to do--I'm wondering if we have a new delivery person.  I've had breakfast, but am still in my PJ's.  I will dress soon and get outside for my daily walk before it gets too hot.

Jeanne, I'm sorry you have more winter weather now.  I'm so glad that we're having spring-like weather.  I worked outside quite a while yesterday and cleaned off my deck.  I had lots of leaves (and still more to rake up) in the yard, but I'm making progress.

Hi Sharon, more later.  Olyne just called to remind me she's picking me up for Church shortly.  So I need to get some clothes on!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Hi Gals. We had a wonderful youth Sunday at church today with lots of instruments played by the youth, children' choir. etc. Very well done.  Afterwards we had the 70+ dinner which honors all of us and also remembers the members of the congregation who passed away this year.  Good food and good program.

I have 1 load of laundry in but need to add another.

Jeanne, I feel for you on the tech problems!  Do you have a daughter nearby who could help you?  I'm sorry the weather is o lousy. Lori, in Chicago, escaped it by flying to Atlanta for a 2 or 3 day meeting. She missed the last one too.  John's sister was complaining about it in IA also.  Hope Jane is able to stay home and safe.

Sue, enjoy church.  You sound like you got a lot done outside yesterday. I would have liked to, but can't with this knee.

Hi to everyone else. Have a blessed Sunday.  Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's another bright sunshiny day here in Auburn.  I'm still not dressed, but have eaten breakfast, put the trash barrels down on the street for pick-up, and will get dressed shortly.  I think Tim will be coming over sometime this morning to go through my paper work and chat for a bit.  I'll probably wait until after he leaves to walk in my neighborhood.  I need to do a couple of loads of laundry, too.

We're supposed to have warmer weather today.  I will probably wear my usual clothing and take off a layer or two if it does get as warm as the weather man predicts.  Not much else going on here this morning except the paper work.  I'll put some laundry in the washer shortly.

Jane, I know you must be happy that Ray is home.  I hope he is feeling better.  Is he still sleeping upstairs or have you made other provisions until he is comfortable with being upstairs?

Not much else going on here today.  I'll probably rake up more leaves and put them on the leaf pile down in the back yard.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Hi Gals. Sorry the font size changed at the end of my last post. Not sure why.

Mary, John got about 10 pts at the tournament and obviously found a good partner. He says he lives in TN, so kudos to your state. He got home about 3:00 Sat.

I did a couple loads of wash yesterday, but that was about all. Today, my cleaning girl is here and then I'm going to Computer club to learn some tips on Office.

Jane, hope you two are getting along well and getting things organized.

Darlene, I still haven't found the app. Need to call my computer guy to find out where he found it.

Sue, glad you have a nice day today. We do too.  The grass needs cutting badly but we're scheduled for Thurs if the weather cooperates.

Hope Freckles continues to improve, Marilyn.

HUGS to all!  Sharon

I hope everyBuddie is doing fine.  I've read everything but didn't take notes.  My brain is kind of numb this morning.
A rainy, dreary day here and for several more days, I guess.

The church sent out  communion yesterday and Ray liked that.  He hasn't been to church since all of this chemo stuff...don't want him to get infected by those who insist on going to church when ill and then shaking hands and hugging with colds or worse.

Any way...we started the morning with a panic on my part. His blood sugar was 47! The doctor had changed the long lasting from morning to night and shot it up to 10 units from 6.  I grabbed the glucose tabs and we got it stabilized. His vision had gone blurry.  Scared me to death.  Last night I called the hospital to see if they had an "Ask a Nurse" program.  No, but operator connected me with a nurse...who couldn't give me medical advice, but agreed that I should not do the 10 at night. I skipped it and his BS was 101 this morning! I'm going back to the old routine until we see his doc tomorrow afternoon.

I need to go get some items at the store and continue with laundry.

Always something! ::)
