A good Sunday HELLO to all.

I started with a good attitude this morning that I was going to get a lot done today, and I have, but I still have more I wanted to get done, if only the ol' bod would cooperate 🙀.

MARILYNE, we went to Dave's for dinner last night and Michele was laying on the couch but interfacing nicely with us.  Her face is still extremely broken out, so the steroids they gave her awhile back did not help and the chemo doctor did not offer her any solution this past Monday, but he did take one of the oral chemo pills away to see if that helped her overall tiredness.  She is not officially half way through with her treatment.  She will have three week off over the 4th and they are hoping to get away up to Vail for the week as our oldest son and family will be here from Boston and they plan to get together.  Dad is coming along.  His voice is sounding a little bit stronger.  Unfortunately they do not do physical therapy on weekends at the care place, so he only has two more days of therapy before we will take him home.  A lift chair was purchased and delivered today, so we hope that will be a help for him.  He seems to have a lot more care needed than Diane feels she is able to help him with, but we will just have to see.  Michele suggested maybe we could hire in some help for him since he is so opposed to a nursing home, so we will check that out.  I would still like to have one of the Hospice people come in and spend a bit of time with us to see what they think and suggest.   They offered that to us when Bob talked to them a week or so ago.  She told Bob they often do this and then report to the doctors what they feel might be necessary.  Thank you for always showing support.....  I had to chuckle at your being caught wearing the same dress at the two weddings....my hubby always says no one w8ll notice, but I assure him that they will.  Now a man could probably pull it off just fine.

Speaking of our oldest son..... he called this morning to tell us that he is fine after finding out that he had a tiny hole in his retina, discovered at a routine eye exam last week.  He had to go to a retina specialist and they suggested he have it repaired with a laser, which he had done on Wednesday.  He did not want to call us and add to our worries. 😩🥰

It has been chilly here all day....maybe it made it to 60 degrees!  Yesterday it was much warmer and when we were at Dave's a horrible hail storm came and worried us all as the golf ball six or larger were really coming down.  It did not last too long, thank goodness, and there appeared to be no damage to our car!

JACKIE, I love seeing the picture of you and Richard, but I sure wish I could see Richard better.  Your picture I know well, of course.  I am glad your swelling issues are better now in your ankles.  The swelling can sure be miserable and of course it looks terrible.

MARY ANN, happy to read you and Dot got to church and lunch today.  I enjoy reading that you liked your tuna melt and pie, but unlike Marilyne, I do not ENJOY it along with you as I have never like a Tuna melt🙀🤣❣️

Sadly, CALLIE, I think most of the time it is less expensive to replace a microwave than to fix them, but I still wish you luck that it can be fixed.  Please tell me why one can buy a counter top for so much less than the built in ones?

LOVE your newsy posts LARRY.  SO happy you are able to share with us so much easier now.  I am sorry about Scott having to have the carpal tunnel surgery but it is best to get it done!

BEVERLY, Happy you enjoyed your Birthday.  Occasionally I do enjoy a liverwurst sandwich, but not many people do.  I do not think I have ever heard of tomato dill soup!

OK, I have certainly taken up way more than my share of space today....I hope you all have a good evening.

Thank you Marilyne, Mary Ann, Amy Jenny and Jackie for the birthday wishes.

We had a day of rain, thunderstorms and cooler weather. I took a long nap this afternoon and never heard one of the storms. Chape said it made the house shake!

I had a surprise birthday phone call from a longtime Vermont friend. She's one of my favorite people and we've stayed in touch since high school.

Mary Ann - My thoughts exactly! I didn't want to buy another dress to leave hanging in the closet. The last one hung there for 10 years.  :) This was a small family wedding at a resort hotel in New Hampshire.

Marilyne - Shame on them! Three years?  I guess that 10 years was over the "statute of limitations" for wearing the same dress.

TooJays is a Florida chain deli and restaurant. Their soups are "made from scratch".

Jenny - Two of my daughters also like liverwurst, but you're right. I think we're in the minority!

Larry - I think I'm going to like this IPhone. I've been texting with my daughter tonight, which is something I said I'd never do.  ::)  A Facetime conversation would be nice.

Hi everyone on what is probably going to be another rainy and cool day here in my part of South Carolina.  The morning looks like it will be calm but thundershowers are predicted for the afternoon.  Yesterday I heard that an area near here had up to 7 inches of rain and we had only a little less than 1 inch.

This morning my activities were not as they have been for several days.  I actually slept about 15 minutes longer and got up around close to 4 am.  I got cleaned up and dressed for the day then decided to lay back down and use my iPhone to read my emails, devotionals, and to read through the postings since yesterday on the CP and S&F sites.  The iPhone is so handy.  I then had my breakfast and am now settled in front of my big computer, probably for most all of the morning since I don't take another Lasix until lunch time and found the fluid is still coming off without having to keep my feet elevated above my heart level in the mornings.  I will get my feet elevated during the PM hours with oxygen being used and so can enjoy a nice quiet afternoon and evening.

If I keep gushing about feeling better daily I hope you are seeing me as some kind of Pollyanna as I am also realistic.  But I just have to share how much better I am feeling.  I am beginning to see the results of the Lasix but know there is still a long way to go.  Yesterday afternoon I stepped on my scales and found it registered 180 pounds whereas I had started out at 215 pounds.  I am certain another probably 20 or 30 pounds is due to this fluid buildup.  I am stronger this morning and just know it is going to be a wonderful day.  Around 1 pm the man that heads the ramp building committee will be here to check out our situation and I should know whether the committee will build one for us, but I am very optimistic they will.  I pay all of the out of pocket for the committee plus make a generous donation back to that committee or to wherever they ask for the money to go.  Then my new office chair is to be delivered sometime today and I hope it is morning.

Yesterday my 1st cousin, who was Pat's best friend growing up and college roommate and had introduced Pat and I in college (the rest is history) called me.  We had a wonderful chat and she has Facetime so sure we will be staying in touch better than we have in years.  Later I wrote to my boyhood best friend to get the phone number of his first wife (and mother of his oldest son).  She was the one and only girl in our Senior Class of six in high school and I haven't had any contact with her for over 20 years and want to reestablish our friendship as she is a very lovely lady.  Our good neighbor stopped by and gave Pat some home grown tomatoes yesterday.  I was resting at the time and so didn't get to visit with him but we have had some good conversations and I know he will be back over.

I have decided to start using the Edge Microsoft browser and the related programs like Mail on all of my computers.  I am finding it interesting to set up and it gives me something new to learn.  Guess I have rattled on long enough for this morning.

Mary Ann, ordering an olive burger is about the last thing I would ever order to eat as don't like olives.  The tuna melts sound good as always like things with tuna in them.  I suggest you set a time with Tom that you want to sit down and go over your investments and financial situation with him.  I have a feeling he doesn't want to face the idea that you won't always be around and many folks won't talk openly with parents or loved one about these matters and they are very important (in my view).  I have done this before with my son and of course my wife and have extensive written instructions that I have updated each year but want to go over them again to be sure they have no questions.  I want my son to know as much about our situation as possible as in all likelihood much of this responsibility will fall on him if Pat's memory or health gets where it is too much for her to handle.  Just yesterday I contacted our Visa company to get get new card with a new "good till" date on them as it was coming up early next year.  This way I can go online and be sure that information is correct on the sites I have set up for automatic payment from the credit card.  It is a little detail but one doesn't want to get their credit card auto payment rejected as the good till date has passed. They said it would take 7 to 10 days to get the new cards and all other information will remain the same.  I am well in the process to have all proceeds now sent into our bank account rather than being reinvested and we will use CD's at the bank and provide some protection for our money.  We will still have a portfolio at risk with some stocks so can still gain or lose but it will reduce our risk.  Glad to see that Tom will be able to start drawing his Social Security when he turns 62.  He needs the money now more than he needs to wait more years for the higher payout. In the last crash where stocks went way down I had moved most of our 401K money in my government plan to the safer Government securities so we didn't lose a lot of money.  The bad part was waiting too long to reinvest it in stocks as feared that the bad market would continue.  Lloyd said he just bought a new chair that is a comfortable recliner with a built in lift for it.  I have a note with the telephone number of a chair often advertised in senior magazines called the "Perfect Chair" that I would look into if and when that time comes.  I am beginning to look like that little frail old man and can see that as a possibility in the future, but who knows I may never need it.  My legs are getting stronger and I am standing up a lot and using my new claw cane to great advantage.  I think it is only courtesy to let someone who like you know where Tom is going, not because you care, but to give you a sense of comfort.  Of course with phones one can easily call and ask.  I expect there was a lot of red displayed in our Church yesterday for Pentecost Day as we always observe it and our Church is a pretty formal service.  We also observed it in the Presbyterian Church we attended.

Callie, that was a rather rude awakening you had with the tree across the street. Nice of the neighbors to immediately help cut it up and unblock the front door.  Where we live now I don't believe there are any trees that can fall on our house unless they were uprooted and blown into the house by strong winds or a tornado.  Our city does a great job of picking up yard waste in one truck each week and a separate truck for cardboard and finally a third truck to empty the trash cans. We have very good city services here and we pay a fairly high tax for it but certainly worth it. Shucks, I want my banana split salad with three kinds of ice cream.  Guess I can just wish and not get every want filled.  :) I like the Eggo frozen waffles and sure a lot less work than fixing them from scratch, sometime Pat used to do but no more.  Cool whip would probably be ok but wouldn't have the nice pleasing taste of a big dip of vanilla ice cream. I had never had this until our new IHOP opened and it was listed on the menu for a $1 upcharge.  I must admit I like things in order also and like things straight and not at an angle.  I think Pat leaves things askew just because she knows I will fix it.  I want our house to be lived in, clean but comfortable so anyone calling will feel comfortable.  Years ago I had a great aunt who had a beautiful home but it wasn't comfortable for me as every piece of furniture had a special cover and there wee runners on the floor to protect the carpets. Her husband was a very successful auctioneer for years and they were well to do.  I do know that my great aunt was a very caring person and wouldn't intentionally make anyone uncomfortable but it was just her way.  We each have our unique characteristics and that is good.  I also like to have my bed made although it may just be a matter of being sure the covers are pulled up as I was finding making up my half of our adjustable beds very difficult and tiring.  With the hospital bed I am in and out of it so much I don't really worry about it very much.  I also like to see the kitchen in order.  Guess I am an old "fuddy-dutty" after all.  :)I generally don't try to have appliances fixed as you still have an old appliance and the repair is costly.  Over the range type of microwave is desirable but if you have counter space a small $50 or so microwave from Walmart works well.  That is what Stacey had and when our microwave broke we got one of the small ones that sat back in the corner of our cabinets that worked well for what we use a microwave for and it didn't break the bank.  We did eventually replace the over the stove one when we got a new stove.  Hope you had a good "recliner radish" day.

Marilyne, you saved money for something and gave your cousins something to talk about when you wore the same dress to two different weddings.  I have trouble remembering what I wore last week much less three years ago.  I really only wanted a sandal to protect my toes in the socks and didn't consider nicer sandals.

Beverly, I don't remember whether I wished you a Happy Birthday but if I didn't here it is.  Since you now have the iPhone and Facetime how about giving me a call and we can discuss face to face the matter I have been wanting to write you about.  Besides I enjoy visiting with you and so remember the short time you spent visiting with us a few months ago.  I don't do a lot of texting but am finding it so useful particularly since I can use the little microphone and dictate my message rather than typing it all out.

Jackie, I know swollen feet are not an uncommon problem for folks for different reason.  Glad you swelling is not too bad.  Do you have a claw cane?  It has four little feet so doesn't fall over and I am finding it so assuring to have it as move it and then take two small steps up into the area and plant my feet and then move the cane further ahead.  It assures I always have something to hold onto.  Pat is afraid of using that type as her feet turn out and she is sure she would trip over it.  She didn't think I needed one but she was wrong and it is one of the best tools I have to assure I don't lose my balance and fall again, something I am determined not to do if at all possible.  I don't need to do anything fast and that is a good things.  Glad the swelling is going down for you.  I think the tea has a diuretic component in it.  I like tea but don't drink it very often.  Now with my nightly sleeping pill I don't need the Chamomile Tea to help me sleep.   Thanks for the suggestion for the Epsom Salts foot soak.

Jenny, nice that Michele could at least be on the couch to fell a part of the dinner conversation.  I do hope she and Dave any the family can enjoy a week in Vail. I hope your dad likes the lift chair as it surely will help him stand.  Please, please at least talk with the Hospice folks as it costs you nothing and could make a big change in your dad's and Diane's life as well as yours.  I feel confident in saying you will see it as time well spent.  I have never cared for liverwurst but my dad sure did.

Mary Ann

Larry, Tom and I often talk about how to handle things when I am gone, but I want to sit with him to show him how I have things on the computer.  He is my Successor Trustee and I have James on there too because Tom's health isn't the best.  I have written instructions and information and I must print them out for him.  I also will put them on a flash drive.  It never occurred to me when I made my first trust that three of my heirs would die before I did - Tim, Norm and Terry.

Larry, it is wonderful that the Lasix has allowed you to lose 35 pounds.  I wish the doctors would prescribe something like that for Tom; he is so heavy.

You had a graduating class of six; my dad's class was 13.  He was born in a small town in MN (Elba) and when Jim and I drove through there several years ago, the population was 200.  I doubt it was any larger then.  He did graduate from high school in Plainview MN and I don't know about the population, but it was not, and is not, large.  My class of 250 was not large then and with consolidation now, would not be large now.  Dot graduated in a Chicago suburb in a class of over 700.  The Hartons in Indianapolis also graduated from schools with large numbers.  Is that progress?

My credit cards have always been sent to me within a month of the expiration date.  My Visa used to be renewed for two years, the last time for five.  And that is the card my Credit Union discontinued and went with MasterCard.  Both MasterCards were renewed for two years.  I do not like having two MasterCard but I like having two different cards - one from the bank, the other from the Credit Union.  I have nothing to say in the matter so what will be, will be.

This morning I got up a bit earlier than usual because I was wide awake and that was at 7:30 am.  Of course, I came to the computer!  I watched the Marine City cam and I also read the chat below the scene.  It amazed me how far reaching these cams are as there were people from Indiana, Germany, inland Michigan, Nairobi Kenya, Liverpool UK and Indianapolis.  There are a lot of people who post there and I know most of them are not from Marine City, even Michigan.  One man is in Houston, another is on a boat on the Mississippi.

I think I've blabbed enough for now.

Being collected in half hour...Being taken to our Disable Society bingo evening by the disable chairman...only this time I wont be going nor sitting with my Richard...I have to admit after being stuck indoors for the last five weeks, since my Richards funeral, with not one person on my site popping in to see me, to check I am alright..it will be good to get out even if I am going to find this emotional, I know I am going to shed some tears once I meet up in that room amongst the other members...Even coming back to my now empty home, and when indoors in our kitchen, not having Richard to talk to about the goodies we won nor which one of us was the luckier one who won most of the goodies - the prizes tonight..Just hope my mind stays on concentration of the game...
" There is no present like the time "

Marilyne

Jackie - good to see that you'll be attending the Bingo game this evening. It will be an emotional time for you, as you'll be missing the companionship of Richard, but it's a good start for you to begin socializing again.

Jenny - It's good to know that Michele joined with the rest of the family for Sunday night dinner, even though she was still confined to the couch.  I had some idea that this recent round of chemo was her last, but I see that she still has a long way to go. :(  Time seems to move so quickly when you're healthy, but so slowly when you're sick.
I also think that Hospice would be wonderful for your dad.  It might scare him at first, but if he can be convinced that having them come and take over his care, can be a huge relief to him, and to Diane too.  Larry, is the perfect example of the many things that Hospice can accomplish for a patient.  He is feeling so much better now, with Hospice in charge.

Mary Ann - I spend lots of my cam time, at Marine City.  There seems to be more boats there than any of the other cams, and you get the best views from all angles.  The chat is interesting, and I've watched it enough to be familiar with some of the names of the chatters.  I've noticed the man from Liverpool, is there a lot, and also one from Australia.  It seems when I'm watching, that most are men from somewhere in the Marine City area, or the surrounding communities.  They often talk about meeting for coffee, or comparing weather in the general area.

I know you worry about Tom, and the weight problem that he has.  It's so extremely difficult for some people to lose weight, even when they have the support of family and help from a doctor. I've had friends who have gone on a fasting diet for a week or so, to "kick start" them with a significant weight loss. It seems to be very helpful, but under a doctor's supervision of course.

Well, guess I had better start moving around here this morning.  Sandy is coming over later to wash her clothes, so I'm hoping that she stays for dinner tonight.  She had some gum surgery last Thursday, in preparation for a single tooth implant, so she has been feeling poorly for the past few days, and is still swollen and unable to eat anything but soft food.

FlaJean

Jackie, there is a difference of 6 hours in our summer central time and England.  I hope you have a lovely evening at Bingo.  It will be good for you to mingle and have a bit of fun even 'tho a little sad that Richard isn't there.

It is a sunny day so far but a possibility of rain later.  I am having my usual dilemma of planning a meal later.  Something that is good but healthy and easy to prepare.  Maybe we will just get a Firehouse Sub.  Today I feel too tired to worry about it.  One of those days!

Larry, your posts are so upbeat.  Send a little of that enthusiasm to your southwest and I will grab it as it goes by. 😊

Mary Ann, it must be really sad for Tom to have lost two younger brothers.  And he probably keeps all that feeling inside.  I have a friend who has two sisters close to her age and they are such good friends.  I sort of envy her as my oldest sister was 13 years older than I am and my other sister 9 years older.  I only had one cousin my age and we didn't live close enough or see each other enough to have a family bond.

My two daughters and I text often.  They both work during the day so texting is easier.  My youngest daughter was sick last night.  Jeff, her husband, said he had cooked some salmon with fresh dill.  She is allergic to some herbs, especially cilantro, so was thinking maybe the fresh dill might have triggered her stomach upset, although he had used dried dill in the past.  Whatever it was, I'm glad she is feeling better today.

I'm curious now whether dried herbs and spices react differently than fresh.  I think I'll do a goggle search and see what comes up.

Have a nice day everyone.  I am getting one of those errors so incase it is you, Marilyne, hello!  Yesterday it was Patricia so hello to you also!

Jenny...
...is it Phoenix where you father is, are you going to see him? if so have a safe flight..

I cant say I enjoyed last nights Disable Society bingo, as I sat, or rather ushered to our usual small round table of four, as no one had arrived yet, I kept gazing to my left at the one empty tattered chair where my Richard would have been sitting, and tears kept coming from my eyes..It wasn't the fun evenings that I remember...I just felt that I didn't want to be here..

Whilst there they welcome back one young man in a wheelchair, someone mentioned to me he had been in hospital for four months, only just gotten out, yet still needs more treatments so I was told...had done an operation to correct his spine, when I looked at him he looked so thin but was smiling at everyone...

Hi everyone on an overcast and there is but a little chance of rain today with it staying in the mid-80's range.

Today is the day the aid comes to help me with my bath.  I have everything set up ready to go and know she is one busy lady. This has been an exciting morning for me.  A few days ago I got a second pair of sandals, this time with straps that would adjust but I still couldn't get them on my swollen feet.  Will this morning I tried again and they fit onto my feet.  They are cheap and flimsy  things and I may send them back.  I am hopeful that I can now get on my house slippers and not have to buy sandals.  There was a discussion just yesterday in Seniors and Friends so I plan on looking back today and noting the companies that have good sandals so I can check them out.  I am more than ready to start getting out of the house and told Pat when she goes somewhere I will go along and find a corner to read or listen to my book and then she won't have to worry about going off and leaving me.

Scott's schedule was changed this week to have today and tomorrow off although he may have to work this evening.  He plans on coming out later this morning after picking up a big grocery order for his mother from the Walmart online ordering.

I did meet with the man who heads up our Churches ramp team and he is going to build a ramp for us but it probably will be in mid-July and he has some other commitments and members of his team may be away for a vacation, etc.  We can certainly get by until then.  Then my new office chair was delivered by Office Depot and they just put it on the front porch and Pat had to get the box inside the house.  Fortunately it wasn't too heavy.  I expect delivery of several things today.  Yesterday afternoon a lady from our Sunday School class called saying she was bringing us dinner.  Pat hadn't started anything and the call and meal was most welcome.  In fact she brought enough food for more than one meal.

Mary Ann, I have written extensive instructions and updated each January for a number of years with as much information as I can think of that will help Scott and Pat dealing with the details when I get called home.  Yesterday I called the credit card company and requested reissuance of our credit cards with a new "good till" date so I can go online and update that information and it should be good for several years. We also had a high school graduating class of 6, 5 boys and 1 girl.  Our school consolidated with a nearby town after our graduating class.

Jackie, so glad to read you were able to get out and attend the bingo evening.  Nothing wrong with showing our emotions.  I am so emotional that I can start crying in the middle of a thought.  Fortunately I get over it fairly well.  I hope you get out often as people need people.  First times doing things after we lose someone is often difficult.  Be kind to yourself.

Marilyne, I sure agree with you on the positives of Hospice.  I probably have never enjoyed life as much as I am now.  These are wonderful and caring people.

Jean, I don't think one can go wrong with a Firehouse Sub and I am looking forward to my next one.  I hope tomorrow after Pat's gifts that we can go through the drive thru at Arby's as I really like their sandwiches.  I really think it is the horsey sauce and the Arby sauce that I like.

Jenny, by now you must be in Phoenix and maybe even napping.  That certainly was an early time to wake up to catch your flight.  It must have been a big discount that made you take that flight.

Larry, it seems as if everything is coming together to improve your life, except your heart doesn't get better.  When I was with Jan yesterday, I told her how things are going for you and she is so pleased, but not surprised, that Hospice is doing so well for you.  She was involved with ill patients whose time was not long and that's what did her in to the point of leaving (see below).

Yesterday was kind of a mixed up day for us.  Tom was due at the hospital for a heart cath and James was here at 8 am to take him to the hospital.  While the procedure was to take about four hours, there was a possibility they'd keep him overnight, so he went prepared.  Things would start at 9:30.  About 10 am, Annie called that nothing was being done.  They had x-rayed his heart and the good part was in better shape than his bad part was not (I hope that makes sense).  About noon I called James to find out what was going on and he said "nothing" and they would be returning home later.  I suppose they had to talk to doctors etc and on the way home, they stopped for eats, getting home about 3:30 to 4 pm.

Later Jan called to see what I could tell her about Tom and she asked if I had eaten.  I had not, so she suggested she and I go out to eat.  We went to Bud and Stanley's where Jan had not been for some time and it was crowded and noisy as usual but if we want to eat there, we do - regardless.  Anyway, I told her, which was not a lot, and we talked about other things.

Jan is an RN and has just taken a job as a triage nurse.  She is the one who was with Hospice but has left it because she was on call 24 hours a day, even if she wasn't scheduled because at first she was head honcho.  With her parents' conditions deteriorating, it became too much for her and at first she demoted herself to be on the staff but not as the head.  She is in training as a triage nurse and is working evenings now.  Jan's sister is here for the summer and she has two nephews, all of whom can help and make it possible for Jan to leave the house whether for work or for pleasure.

Nothing has changed for Tom and I guess they will not do a heart cath in the future but will keep tabs on him.  I wish he'd go back on Weight Watchers because he lost over 30 pounds the last time and it was very obvious but he has gained it all back - and more, I'm afraid.

So, today, things have returned to normal, whatever that is.

I got up about 4 am and it felt kind of cool around here.  I looked at my thermometer and saw it was 48 degrees outside and 71 degrees inside.  I didn't do anything then but when I got up for good, the temp in my condo was 68 degrees and that was a bit too cool, so here is is June 11 and I turned on the heat.  Tom just came up and remarked about the temperature.  He usually sleeps with the windows open but he said he closed them and even went for an extra blanket.

Mary Ann - I guess it's good that the results of Tom's heart cath were the same as before, and that they won't be doing another one? I don't know anything about heart caths, so I'm hoping that he is okay? It's good that Jan, thought about you being alone, and came over and took you to lunch.  It must have been a worrisome day for you.

Jenny -  What a terrible/inconvenient time for your flight to Phoenix!! You must have been exhausted. That's a good example of a "Red Eye Special"! I hope that you're finding that everything is running along smoothly, as far as your Dad is concerned?  Please keep us posted.

Larry - I know exactly what you mean when you said you are so emotional, that you sometimes start to cry, just thinking about something. It seems, as I've grown older, I have a difficult time controlling those emotions too.

We had miserable weather here yesterday. The temperature rose to 103 degrees by 2:00 pm, and stayed until 5:00.  It slowly went down, but was still in the low 80's when I went to bed at around 10:00. Of course we had the AC on, but I did get up and turn it off around 3:00.  Adding to the heat, we had thick smokey air, from a wildfire in the East Bay Area. No homes burned.  It must be out this morning, as it looks clear outside.

Mary Ann

Marilyn, it warmed up here too, maybe not as much as your area, but from that 48 degrees at 4 am, it is now 80 degrees at 1 pm.  I haven't turned back to a/c yet, but I will do that when I become uncomfortable.

As for Tom, I think we are back to normal and I'm not sure if that is good or bad.  I do know his doctor is keeping tabs on him, and maybe there could be a heart cath in the future; he didn't say and I certainly don't know.  Tom is quite open with his ailments and when he doesn't feel good.  He so often comes home and says he is tired.  I did something I've never done for anyone else, but I suggested he take some Vitamin B or Super B Complex (which is what I take).  It would not cure anything, certainly not his heart, but I've read and heard that we cannot store B Vitamin overnight, that we must take it daily.  I've taken it for years and I am not constantly tired.  I don't have burst of energy and I don't have low lows so I wanted him to try it.  I have a idea he'll forget about it.  So today, he is doing fine.  He went out to breakfast alone and probably will not eat again until late afternoon.  Robin is coming today instead of tomorrow and they may go out for supper and I may or may not go with them.

Tom just showed me a way to copy and paste here.  I suppose most everyone knows about it, but he told me to put the cursor in the middle of my copy, hold the control button down and type "a" (no quotes), then "control c" (no quotes) and when I return to the page, hit "paste" (no quotes) and it worked.  He had come up because his e-mail was not working and he wanted to check the modem.  It took a few minutes, but he got things going.  In the meantime, I was online but he was not.

At 80 degrees, I now have the doors open and I think I'll go on the deck before the sun gets too far back.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann, very interesting that I also take a super B complex every day, and I have for many, many years.  I've always taken the one that says B-50.  I agree that it's not going to cure anything . . .  but like you, I don't get tired easily, and I don't feel the need to nap or to lie down during the day. In the last few years, I've begun to "fade" in the late afternoon, but I always pick up again when I eat dinner.

Today I will likely fade earlier than usual, because it's supposed to be another 100 plus day.  Right now it reads 96 on my outdoor thermometer, and it's only 11:45.

Patricia, I bookmarked the Port Huron site but could not get it to work.  I will read the chat on the Marine City site to see when it opens because I am sure someone there will mention it.  Another site is to open south of Marine City near the entrance to Lake St Clair; it is at Algonac.  I'll keep trying until the site opens.

Marilyn, I'm glad there is someone else who takes Super B Complex.  I like it more than other pills I take.

Robin came today to help with my computer room mess.  We are making progress.  I think she thinks I will get rid of the computer work station when we're done.  We might, but not immediately.  It is big, L-shaped and almost consumes the room.  It does have storage so I can put things in the two drawers there.  Since I use a laptop, I'm not sure if I would compute there because I think the laptop would be too heavy for the pull-out keyboard rest.  I also would not be able to watch any TV while computing.

It is a very comfortable 65 degrees now and it ought to be good sleeping.

Mary Ann

CallieOK

Mary Ann where are you seeing the marine City chat? All I see on the sites you gave me are the webcam and a map like the one at the bottom of the Duluth  harbor page..

I think I'm jinxed.  While housekeeper was vacuuming the vacuum spit dirt all over the carpet and then quit. Glad she had hers in her car so was able to take care of the mess and finish the rest.

Guess I'll be stopping off at the vacuum repair shop on the way to buy a new microwave.

I was unable to find an appliance repair place that works on microwaves and the consensus is to get
a new one.

Larry, you mentioned a countertop but there was an over the range one already here when I moved in. This one went into the same spot because  it's the light and vent for the stove. The light can also be set as an automatic nightlight.  My kitchen is in a perfect location for that so I'll stick with the same.

I'm not going to rush right out to get one, though. After all, I'm old enough to remember when there was no such thing as a microwave. ;)
I did a Stouffer frozen entree in the regular oven last night and actually thought it tasted better having been cooked more slowly.

By George, I think we did it re keeping squirrels from getting on the bird feeder
Son moved the feeder farther from the holly tree and the squirrel didn't try its trampoline act. Not holding my breath that it won't find a way  After all, "where there's  a  will squirrel there's.....etc. etc."

Sleep well, everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Just a quick note as I am headed off to bed....getting up at 2AM and a full day has me just totally wiped out!

Dad is doing great......his voice was so much stronger when I talked to him last night and then seeing him today he looks very good....
So much better than I expected.  Good coloring......smiling.  Hydrated....The care home is very nice and every person there seems delightful.....smiling and so encouraging..I do not know why he would ever want to leave!  Hahaha IF ONLY we could find a nursing home like this none of us would mind him moving in there!  Sadly, IF Dad, or any of this thinks this place is a example of having to go to a nursing home, he and we are in for a big surprise! Now if we can just get him to keep up the good work here at home.....

We talked to the head lady there, the case worker and she just could not have been any more helpful and they truly all seemed to genuinely care about dad and how he has improved......even with his orneriness they all seem to like him.

Tomorrow he is to wear a special blue shirt they gave him ......it is his graduation T-shirt.

More later.......Jenn

Hi everyone.  It is only a little after 6 am and still dark outside my window here by my desk.  We had a very nice day here yesterday and the rain stayed away.  It does look like we have a really good chance of rain throughout the day but our temps should remain nice.

I had an interesting night, if a bit scary.  I use a password program called Last Pass and have for years.  It has one Master Password that remains only in your knowledge and cannot be recovered if lost.  They use very strong military type encryption and I have tons of not only passwords but other related information stored in Last Pass. Last night while doing something it suggested it was time to change the password.  This I did but obviously didn't get the process completed and it appeared for a time that I would lose all of the passwords and other information I have stored in Last Pass.  Finally I can upon an email that showed how to revert back to the old password and that is what I did and didn't lose a thing.  I was very relived.

Yesterday my new office chair for the computer arrived and Elizabeth stopped over and started to put it together only to find out it hadn't been assembled correctly.  So we are taking it back to Office Depot locally ASAP for a refund.  This chair, like a steno chair, had no arms and it dawned on me during the night that what I had was a disaster waiting to occur as it would be so easy to fall from it.  Then I remembered I had used one of our dinette chairs as my office chair in the past so rolled one of them into my office and it is going to work perfectly and I don't need to buy another chair.  I hope we can take the chair back for a refund later this morning and while there I want to get a blue tooth adapter for my TV and then I am going to give myself a Father's Day gift of a good pair of blue tooth headphones just to use with the TV.  I have a couple of pair of inexpensive small ear bud type head gear and each will be dedicated to a separate device.

I expect Scott to be here fairly early this morning.  Pat has arranged with a friend to pick her up here at the house to take her to her crafts activities at the Church later this morning.  I plan on using my walker today at the Credit Union and Office Depot rather than having to have Scott deal with the transport chair for our outing and if I play it right we can still get some ARBY's sandwiches to bring home for lunch. After the busy morning I will probably crash this afternoon as I have been doing most afternoons and evening.

Mary Ann,  I am like a new person with this Hospice Care.  I have a plan I hope Scott and I can execute this morning and rather than having to be pushed in a transport chair I plan on using my walker so if I get tired I can always sit down and rest for a bit.  I have been doing a lot more walking in the house these past couple of days and it feels so good to use my legs and feel that strengthen.  I can see just dealing with those Hospice patients in the final days of their life would be difficult.  I have no illusions that my heart is going to each better but I sure am enjoying each and every day. Glad Tom had some good results from the cath even though some of it wasn't so good. I hope Jan will like here new job as a triage nurse.  The doctors must have decided, as they did with me, that further caths will not reveal anything they do not already know.

Marilyne, I feel like and old pro with the heart caths as have been in the labs over 30 times during a long period of time and now have had 4 cardiologists tell me they won't recommend anymore for me as they no the mess by heart is in (but the dear old thing just keeps beating away).  I can just sit here at my heart and think of something, not necessarily sad and start to tear up for a minute or two.  You sure have had a big swing in your weather. We just had a nice rain shower awhile ago and I am hoping they will just be periodic this morning and not ruin my good plans. I don't think I have heard of that method of copy and paste.  There are always about three ways to do each command on the computer.  I was taking a Super Complex B everyday before going into Hospice.

Callie, it always has seemed that things like appliances failing happen in threes. I don't blame you in staying with the microwave over the stove as it takes up much less space and serves a valuable purpose.  The first microwave we ever had was a big old heave Amana, that was made in Iowa.

Jenny, too bad that your Dad can't stay at the facility that is helping him so much but hope he will be agreeable to letting you all find him such a place and then Diane could be with him without having the responsibility of the care.

Joy

Good morning.  Pretty sunny morning, but only in the 60's.  Very chilly.

I am just here for a few minutes.  Wanted to check in as I missed a couple days.

Had a good doctor's report on Monday.  Don't have to go back until March 2020.  That seems so far away.  Hope nothing turns up that will make me have to go before then. LOL

Larry, it sure makes me happy to read that you are able to get out a bit.  I know that really must make such a difference in how you feel.  It is just remarkable how you are feeling now, compared to how you were a few weeks ago.  I think of it as almost a "miracle",  and I am sure you probably feel the same way.  Your experience with your Hospice care is sure an eye-opener for us all.  I couldn't be more happier for you.

I hope everyone will have a wonderful day.

Joy

Marilyne

Hi all - Just a quick hello, as I want to get back to the Marine City cam, and take another look.  According to the sidebar chat, there will be three boats showing on the cam within the next 20 minutes.  I've seen two at once, but not three, so I'd like to take a look.

Mary Ann

What a nice surprise to see so many long messages.

I did something last night that I haven't done in years - I slept until 5 am without waking up; I think I went to sleep around 11 pm so that is six straight hours.  I went to the bathroom, then went right back to sleep until 7 am so that was eight hours.  I think I should have gotten up because I haven't woke up yet!  But I'm up!

Marine City chat - Callie, it is under the screen.  There is a little ^ (only inverted) beneath the frame.  Over at the right is a ^ for you to push on to get the chat at the beginning.  You learn a lot from their conversation.  I had to laugh when you said your vacuum spit dirt all over, you used the housekeeper's vac to clean it up and then you are going to the vacuum shop to buy a new microwave.  I remember days of putting foods in the oven to cook and I also remember days of putting the dish together before it went in the oven.  Older than dirt (but not from the vacuum).  I had the same problem with thinking about a counter-top microwave.  There is nothing wrong with the oven over the range except I am limited in what I can put in it because of arthritis in my right shoulder.  The ideal place for it has a knife rack that comes down and the microwave would not allow that.  There is no good other place for the knife rack and no other good place for a second microwave.  So I watch what I put in the over-the-range microwave.  It heats water for my coffee just fine.

Jenn, I am pleased to hear your dad is doing so well.  I know it makes you feel good about his situation.  We old people can get ornery at times and I think we've earned the right.  I know Tom and Robin thought I was making too much of not being able to find my tomato knives, but they are something I use often so I let them know I wanted to find the knives (one at a time was missing).  And Tom did!

Joy, when I went to the doctor (saw the PA this time), he mentioned coming back in a year, just as the doctor himself said last year.  It made my day.

Larry, it is so good to find you so upbeat these days because before Hospice you posted only to check in.  I told Jan about you and it made her happy too because she was dealing with another phase of Hospice, plus her parents neither of whom are in good health (especially her father).  She will be much happier in her new job.

It can be scary when you lose your passwords.  Mine are in a small booklet that Norm gave me and I have an idea it is time to get a new book.  I have a secretary's chair to use if I want to use my old desktop computer - or if I buy a new desktop computer.  I always had a "posture chair" at work and wanted to continue with that.  Yes, it has no arms and I can see why you would want arms.  If I was to use my chair for any length of time, I might want arms too.  Well, I do have arms when I use my laptop and since I use a mouse, I have a Mickey Mouse arrangement that I would never suggest to anyone else, but it works for me.

Robin was here yesterday to help with the computer room.  She gives me stuff to sort faster than I can sort them.  I had Tom go to Lowe's to pick up some storage boxes and we decided the small ones for paper might not work because the sides slope a bit.  I'll see first if I can find some with straight sides.  I'll be so organized I won't dare touch a thing.  No kidding, she arranged my linen closet and it looks so nice that I am afraid to get anything out of it because it looks so nice.  She also put my oil container somewhere (she knows not where) and I need it to oil my fan that I have going all night.  You win a lot and  you lose some.

It's time to quit this or there won't be room for anyone else to post!  Ha!

I enjoyed watching the three ships on the Marine City cam.  The side bar chat was mostly about the second ship,  Herbert C Jackson, which is apparently a sister ship to the Edmund Fitzgerald?  I'm going to do some research on that, as it sounds interesting.
Mary Ann - My chat is to the right side of my screen. I'll try to do a "screen shot" later, so you can see the difference. (Not that it's particularly important! ha ha)  Right now, time to find something for breakfast.  :eat:

Tomorrow we are going back to rainy and cloudy
for the next 10 days....
So much for that "nothing is so rare,

is the only "Rare" day we are going to get !!
 :knuppel2:

All is well here ... and I quess that
Summer is just around the next corner,
but about 50 miles away !!
 :crazy2:

Mary Ann, Patricia's link didn't work for me either.  I wasn't seeing the chat at the Marine Site either.  Glad you showed that little symbol.  I hadn't even noticed it.  The chat makes the site more interesting.

Joy, good to hear about your good medical results.  I always loved the month of June when we lived in Maryland.  We had a swing on our outside patio and used to sit out almost every evening.  We would swing and enjoy the summer breeze.  July and August the heat was terrible—-worse than here.

Jenny, i know you must be glad to see the improvement in your Dad.

Larry, I sure hope you are able to accomplish everything you need to this morning,  I'm afraid it makes me a little tired thinking about it——-just kidding.

Marilyne, I was going to mention in my today's post about not seeing the chat at Marine City, but Cassie mentioned it and than Mary Ann showed that little icon.  I had never noticed it.  Sometimes I'm not very observant.

Our temps have been in the low to upper 80s and the rain we had over the weekend really has the flowers looking so pretty.  My son-in-law is a happy fisherman.  He went fishing in the Gulf yesterday and caught a huge fish, an amberjack.  I had never heard of that fish, but the only fish I know about are the ones I get at a restaurant.  My second oldest grandson and his family are visiting LEGO Land in Florida.  I know his two boys are having a good time.  Unfortunately they are a long ways from our part of Florida.  We are over in the Panhandle close to Alabama.

Have a good day everyone.

Evidently the new site I posted still has issues and is being removed until those are resolved. Here is a screenshot of the Marine City chat

Image1.jpg

Marilyne

Patricia - Thanks for the screen shot of the Marine City cam.  That's exactly like mine looks, with the chat feed on the right side of the picture. Apparently Mary Ann, sees the chat under the picture?

I started out this morning to go to Tuesday Morning, to buy some bed pillows.  Shelley and Claire are coming on Saturday, and I don't have enough for everyone to be comfortable.  Anyway, I started driving, and even with the AC on in the car, I was hot, and the traffic was beyond description, it was so bad.  I just couldn't deal with a ten Mile drive, so turned at the first corner and came on home. Supposed to be 103 degrees again today, and I knew I would have to park and walk a distance to the TM store, so decided it was best to wait until tomorrow . . . or the next day?

Mary Ann

Patricia, the site did say it was removed, so we'll just wait for more information.  I saw two ships at Marine City, then a couple at Port Huron.  About that time, I decided to get breakfast, and made me one big enough that I watched TV while I ate, then I got dressed and went out on the deck with Kendrick.  Sorry, Sandy, but "what is so rare as a day in June" applies here.  The temperature is around 75 and the cat and I sat out there for a long time.  There was a breeze from the SW that was shielded by the condo building.  I put my feet up on the table on the deck and leaned back and enjoyed myself.  Kendrick laid on the deck and after a while, got on the loveseat with me and tried to make himself comfortable.  He was pawing around the furniture covers which are on the loveseat.  He didn't stay long but he didn't seem to want to come inside either.

I think one time my "chat" has been as the side.  I do have the site in "full screen" and I don't know if that makes a difference or not.  I was nosey once and wondered what that "v" was for and that's how I found "chat".  To me, it is interesting to see where so many of the people are from - and not all in the US either.

My breakfast was large enough for me that I doubt I'll need lunch unless I have something later this afternoon.  I have no idea what Tom will do this evening and if he is gone, I'll have a lunch meat sandwich.  If he is here, I'll have what he fixes.

Mary Ann
