Halloween is the beginning of the holiday shopping season. That's for women. The beginning of the holiday shopping season for men is Christmas Eve.

An old guy walks into a bar and the bartender asks for ID.

"You've got to be kidding," he said. "I'm almost 60 years old."

The bartender apologized, but said he had to see the license.

The guy showed his ID, then paid and told the bartender to keep the change.

"The tip's for carding me," he said.

The bartender put the change in the tip cup.

"Thanks," he said. "Works every time."

BUBBLE!!!  Where did you get that picture of ME??? I've got to get a new hat. Great collage of Halloween, can keep looking and seeing something new. Thanks for cleaning up & the funnies.  Tom (cat) has been waking me up this time every morning so last night I closed him in the other end of the house from the bedrooms & I woke up anyway.  Going to have a bite to eat & go back for more zzzzzzzzzs.

We had snow on the ground when I went to sleep but all gone now. (3:00am)  Our temp is 34 degrees but "feels like" 15.  Have 2 hoses still connected so hope they don't realize the "feels like" or I may have bigger problems.  Still haven't drained the RV, either, or winterized & covered the pool. Can't get caught up.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The doggies have been out and had their pills.  So we're waiting for the boinger!

SHIRLEY, I never knew you and I look so much alike.  I really thought that picture was me at first glance.  I'm sure glad you straightened me out on that one.

Can't make my phone calls this early so I'll go do my crossword puzzle and play a little solitaire while I wait for the boing.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.  Greet it with a smile and grab it and make it yours!  Do whatever suits your fancy!

Shirley we are new at this motor homing you best come by and help us out soon. we were planing on starting out Wednesday for AZ. we were going to fill the water tank with fresh water. I thought when you were traveling in cold weather you turned the furnace on and the ownen generator to keep it running. looks I need help from you. we was planing on going to Page AZ, it gets gold up there also and we can't afford to go and stay to Phoenix. I suppose we could stop by your twenty on the way if you aren't too busy to help. you could get in and go with us if you like. we went to daughter and sil. yesterday to grand daughter's birthday party. today is her birthday she turns 25. she was putting on about getting old. we had a very good feed. and they made a icecream cake. that sure helped my sweet teeth. i don't a sweet tooth
I have a whole mouth full of them (sweet teeth).

Good morning everyone..

Not as cold today but it does warrant a fire on . No frost but temp is 38° and foggy at the moment.

I am feeling a lot better this morning and just maybe I can tackle the jobs that need to be done after VON is gone. Also need to take garbage to the dump.

Lloyd, can you google your questions and see what others have done to their motorhomes? That might help you with some information too.

Jane, did you get any information on your insulation or did I miss it?

Bubble, thank you for a new start page....cute..and cute jokes..

Here is another one for you.

What kind of pie does a ghost like?

BOOberry pie !

Better go get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone 38° now but weather gal just said will be in the 60s this afternoon and by the end of the week will have out first killing frost. Big news in Providence this morning. school bus drivers went back to work this morning so kids are back to school. Odd when I lived in Providence we didn't have school buses we either walked or paid fare to ride a bus to school when the weather was bad or really freezing.

PHYLLIS  like you we don't need more rain but it is in the forecast for this afternoon and again at the end of this week.

LARRY  like you it has been years since I had sheets dried in the fresh air.

AMY  my older son's wife has been making tapioca pudding for me and sends it with my son when he comes here. She is due here this morning to cut my hair. She really is the second daughter I always wanted. Your pie is delicious with a good flaky crust.

JANE  your group of girl scouts were all good kids to help others like they did.

JENNY  we were all happy to see our maintenance man here yesterday morning. Of course the witch most likely chew him out when she comes in today.

JOY  when I had my right shoulder replaced the therapist I had made it fun. I have 2 pound weights but could not pick one up so asked if I had any cans and ended using a can of squash pie filling. At the end my daughter came from California and she made a pie and when he got to the house he was treated to pie and coffee, that was also his last time to be there.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new "book" to fill up. Oh boy, Halloween is coming fast. Great graphics and jokes.

SHIRLEY  hope you get to the job of getting ready for winter PDQ.

LLOYD  I am with you having too many sweet teeth. Have a safe trip in your motor home.

AMY  guess I am not a ghost, rather have blueberry pie instead of a BOOberry one.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. Our summer weather is returning for a couple of days as we expect to get into the mid-80's this afternoon.  However, it is nice and in the low 60's this morning but it soon warms up.  I expect to have a quiet Monday at home with nothing special on the agenda.  Pat did join me for Church yesterday and then we went out to the Sunshine Grill for our lunch.  She did use her Rollator for the first time for going into the Church service and then again when we got to the restaurant.

Lloyd, it sounds like you are all set to hit the road on Wednesday.  You sure do have a good neighbor in Bob.  That reminds me so much of neighbor helping neighbor with the farm work as I was growing up.

Amy, thanks for the apple pie.

Jane, I don't often make a list anymore but used it and have been known to add something to the list that I had already done that day so that I had the pleasure of marking it off.  I guess I should have added "add things already done to the list" and I would have had another thing to mark off.  However, I guess that would have been going too far.  :)  It sounds like your Girl Scouts learned good lessons while waiting at Dulles in being able to help other folks as needed.

deAngel, it sounds like I will need to send up a little sunshine your way this week.  As I look out my office window I don't see a cloud in the sky.  Glad your DIL lived west of Panama City and not East of it.  There is a little attachment we are going to get to put on the Rollator for the cane as she could have used both yesterday.  At Church they helped her store the Rollator out in the entryway of the Church, which wasn't close to where we were seated.  She is still learning how to use it comfortably and I am still learning how best to put it into the backseat of the car.  It is no problem getting it out as I can basically slide it out.  I can basically side it into the backseat as well so don't have to do any significant lifting.

Jenny, I am sure watching the game from home misses some of the excitement of being in the crowd but like you I will be watching the games from the comfort of my easy chair.  Years ago they wouldn't broadcast a local game in the local area but that was stopped several years ago.  Glad your nephew was able to get to Destin for those supplies and food.  Situations like the Hurricanes bring out the best in people as people are willing to go and help as they can.  Does your nephew now have power?  Unfortunately the meal we had at Texas Roadhouse was the worst we have ever experienced there and we have eaten in them for many years.  The best thing I had to eat were the dinner rolls and the house salad.  I guess they can't all be winners.

Carol, it is very annoying when you get what you think is something new home only to find it has been used and returned to the store.  I hope Don was successful in finding a good place for the antenna.  That was quite a snow experienced by your daughter.

Joy, you are so right about most of our young people being good and caring.  One thing Pat and I were talking about yesterday is how helpful people are here to hold open the doors for us and others.  I really like the last stories that both NBC and CBS do on their nightly news broadcasts as it usually features the good deeds of someone.  After all the terrible news that dominates the rest of the news it is refreshing to be left with something good.  It sounds like you got a lot accomplished yesterday.  Pat has already watched a few of those Hallmark Christmas movies.  It is much too early for that as far as I am concerned but glad you and she enjoy them.

Bubble, thanks for starting us off on the new week.  I like your Halloween graphics. The Dave Letterman quote is just about right.

Shirley, it sounds like you were too late in locking up Tom in another part of your house as he already has your internal clock trained to his schedule.  :)

Gloria, when I went to the little one room school house out in the country we certainly didn't have buses either.  The town school did have one bus and when I was in High School I did ride it to the town from the farm.

Merry Monday, Everyfriend.

Shirley,  your comment about the hoses reminded me I haven't unhooked mine, either.  We're supposed to break a record for the "lowest high temperature" and the "lowest low temperature" today.  Don't think either one is to be below freezing but the wind chill is to be in the 20's.  Brrrrr

I have been unable to come in and annoy you darlings, because our server was down and no techs work on the weekends, so I pouted and read my eyes sore. We did have a beautiful rain on Saturday though for which I am most grateful. I didn't  make it to  Church on Sunday though, one of those down days. They seem to visits more frequently now. Monday is turning our just fine. Had a nice warm shower, then slathered on lotion, my lower legs are needful of care because of the artery disease.

We had our flu shots last week, so hopefully we are safe for another year…..now that proves optomism…..adding another year to my life.

It is really blowing out there today..I had to close all the windows as the wind was rattling my blinds. Our Red Hats will be performing for the folks in the Memory Care building at one o'clock. That's always a pleasure to be part of. And soon it will be time for me to get downstairs for lunch, so I shall return later. June

Hello Everyfriend!  I'm home, fed the doggies, had lunch and all that stuff.  Today was a tough one!  I was dragging when I went to the car but I feel somewhat better now.  I still have one phone call to make and I have to go by the Drs office and sign some papers for the release of information to another unit so I can get an appointment at Orthopedics.

AMY, I am going to have the insulation done but the guy who was going to do  fell and is recovering from a concussion.  As soon as he is well enough he'll be here with his helper and I'll get insulated.

Enjoy the rest of your day.  I'm going to do the "sit down" part of getting ready for my guests today.  I'm really feeling tired.  Later gators!

Lloyd, I thought about sending you a "must check" list but afraid you wouldn't read it if I don't post here.  Hopefully the other owner took care of all the "bugs" that come in these motorhomes.....  Every time I took this one out I had to make some kind of repair either on the road or when I got home, that is NO EXAGGERATION.  I've had it 4 years now & still have to do or buy something every time it goes out.

No matter what you think of staying in a Walmart parking lot, do buy the Rand McNally 2019 road atlas.... it shows every Walmart & is a life saver when you are weary & need a nap or place to stop for the night.  Most campgrounds don't allow you to run the generator between 10:00 pm & 6:00 am.... but most have electric hook ups.

I'm not sure about using the generator in the Walmart parking lots, we never have needed to, the accessory battery powers the things (like fan on the frig, etc) for just overnight & I have my frig & freezer running on propane on the road & when camping in CO in the National Forests.... at Corp of Engineer campgrounds in MO, I connect to electricity so TVs & DVD players work.  I also switch from propane for the frig to electricity when I have hook ups.

My plug in I use in the garage will run & get the frig & freezer cold, but it doesn't have the necessary power to run the furnace or AC in my driveway... blows the breaker.

One other thing about driving on city "side" streets, the one I live on has a number of trees that overhang the street & I have to drive down the middle or chance breaking the "dome", skylight or whatever.  I learned the hard way, had to buy a new one & they aren't cheap!  Take a good look at how high that dome is & every time you see a tree hanging over the street, REMEMBER to duck!

By the way, those accessory batteries have only a one year warranty.... they aren't cheap, either!  Last year when we found it wouldn't hold a charge overnight, it was less than a year so Walmart (in Salida, CO) replaced it.  This year it was okay when we went in June but dead when we went back in Sept & warranty ran out, so I bought a new one when I got home.

Most cities have restrictions about parking an RV on the street, that's why I ask to meet you in the Walmart parking lot that is on 400 or Highway 54/Kellogg.... depends on what map you use the name it's called.  My street is narrow & if a car is parked across the street from one of those low hanging trees, it's not possible to get through without the branch hitting the dome.  I can't back the RV out if there is a car parked across the street from my driveway, not enough room to turn.

My family reunion is the 21st so I'm heading to MO for that but heard the Estate Sale for the house across the street is same week end & I will have to move my elephant in the middle of the night to be able to get out.  I doubt if I will be home when or if you go through Wichita.... be on my way to Missouri, but will send you my phone number so if you call me, I will meet you where it is easiest for you to get off.... and do hope you get you that Walmart Rand McNally Atlas... I see them usually by the auto department.

Since I've been west twice this summer to Colorado, & east to Truman Lake a couple weeks ago, you will start looking for highways that don't have repairs every few miles.  Google maps are good to show road work.  Put in your address & your daughter's address & see what they suggest is the best route.... I chose to travel the routes with small towns to be able to get off when I want, instead of interstates.  Kansas City is a mess of road work right now.... even watching for problems I was in the wrong lane & spent more than half an hour getting back to the one I wanted.

One more warning.... in western Kansas the highway patrol have their "traps" set to catch speeders at the TOP of the hills where the passing lane runs out.  Caught me the last trip I made in my little Rialta 5 years ago.  One guy in the slow lane was doing about 45-50 mph just sight seeing when he got in the passing zone, so I pulled out to pass because with that Rialta, it would bog down if not going fast enough & then hold everyone back, but if I hit the bottom at 65 mph it would "walk right over".  Anyway, that slow driver decided he didn't want a motorhome passing him so kept speeding up, cars behind me so all I could do was try to get around him before that other lane ran out.  You'll find out that you don't have time to look at the speedometer when passing another car & wind is rocking your RV. Soon as I got to the top (& around him), I caught my breath & saw that flashing red light behind me.

I pulled over & explained to the cop that I couldn't open the door until I put the cats in their cages.... I asked him what was the matter because I honestly didn't even think about speeding, just had to get back in a lane at the top!!!  Cop said, "you were doing 83 in a 65 mile zone"... so I said, "really?"  I didn't argue at all, so he said, "yes, I couldn't believe it either so checked both radar guns".  I paid the fine as soon as I got home.  BUt, I have never speeded again in Western Kansas & watch for those passing lanes.  Saw another cop at the top of the next lane right after that, so it is a trap!

Do hope you have a nice trip & few problems.  Cas & I made the trip to about where you are going, we went south at Walsenburg to avoid snow in southern Colorado.... we stopped at Farmington, New Mexico & took that route on over to a town called Kenyta (I think), and then went through all those gorgeous scenes you've watched in every Western movie, up through Monument Valley & then back to the 4 Corners of CO.  Depending on how long you stay whether you should take the southern route home so you don't have to go over Wolf Creek Pass in snow & ice.  I always make sure I am on the "top half of my gas tank" when I stop, so I don't have to worry about running out using the generator.

Shirley we also used the Rand McNally Atlas and we stopped at our CAA and picked up maps or even a trip pic that they had drawn up for us.

Jane hope you feel better  after your rest...not nice when you zip has zapped :(

Enjoy your evening.

Shirley well thanks for the tips. yes I am very new and un informed in do's and do not's. one negative is miles per gallon for me but ( mine is about 8 miles per gallon) but no problem with get up and go. the speedometer has 80 mph on it
and it will get whatever part of it you want, in a hurrie. our coach is 37 feet long and 8 feet wide. it is on air ride and is sensitive to road dips. but rides great both seats op front are very comphfey in fact all the furniture is. Haven't slept on the bed yet but Laid on it and feels like it is good for sleeping. I look forward to heaving your phone #. i wont abuse it. best we work out to meet real time or if you have a hard wired phone at home when we are home I use it we have free long distance. hope this helps. oh yes the engine is a cat 6 cylinder 300 horse power diesel.

Back again. Had a quick lunch and scooted over to join the other Red Hatters. We had a great time with this group. Many of them joined us in singing some of the old time songs, and we were given lots of applause, smiles, and hand shakes. Music is a wonderful way to make friends and to see big smiles.

Came home really tired, so I am just going to lay down till time to go down for supper. I short changed my lunch so I could go sing, will make it up at supper.

Sun is still shining brightly out West, and gusts of wind pop up now and then. Life is good, and I am glad to be a part of it. June

Good morning everyone..

Sky is plastered with stars....not a cloud in sight. We are off to the city to the cardiologist ,then we are meeting up with the girls to enjoy a Chinese buffet with them.

Started another quilt ,this one is for me that I will give away when done. With all the fabric/stash I have,I am short one colour so hope to stop at a quilt shop and pick some up. Hope to stop and pick up more apples at a vegetable stand too.

June, sounds like you had an enjoyable day yesterday.

Callie, I covered up the a/c but disconnecting hoses is another job I also need to do.

Larry, nice that Pat was feeling up to join you for church.

Gloria,I also like tapioca pudding and so do our dogs! When we are done we give each dog a spoonful and they lap it up.

Lloyd, I also use my bread machine, I let it do all the hard work ,then I take the dough out and make into loaves to rise and bake in the oven.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

G'Morning All. Just thought i'd look in and say Hi !, another nice autumn day here in the south, plenty of sunshine and blue sky, another day i'll be able to sit out in the garden, at the moment this weather looks set right up to the weekend, I have just finished talking to Lloyd !,  it sounds as if he is going to be busy for the next few weeks, he certainly has more energy than I have, after listening to what he plans to do I was quite exhausted!, well, that sun looks inviting so I had better get outside and enjoy it while it's here !, I expect it to change again by the weekend !,from what Lloyd said about his weather, -01C where he is, i'm about ready to enjoy the 18C here, so cheerio for now, hope you are having the best of weather wherever you  are.

Just a quick "Good Morning All".  I've been up since 6 and I've managed to get everything done that needed doing before the carpet cleaners come.  I had 2 closets to clean out and my plan was to do them yesterday but I was too weary to even think about it.

And before I put all that stuff back in the closets, there will be a trip to Goodwill.  There are coats that I haven't worn in years and at least two pairs of boots and an almost new bowling ball including shoes and a brandnew bag.  I have trouble carrying it any more let alone throwing it down an alley and actually hitting anything with it.

My daughter's friend came yesterday and dropped off a contraption for Emma to sleep in when she's here.  She had it for her first grandchile and is sharing.  This is pretty neat.  Cindy and Karen have been friends since elementary school and her mother and I have been friends since elementary school.  She lived two houses down the street from me.  And now our great grandchildren are sharing the use of a bed.  I love it!

I'm only here to relax until the boinger goes for the doggies pills and I just remembered something else I need to do before the cleaners get here.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!  And if you have time, come on over and help me!

Good morning.

I didn't get in yesterday..  I had a day similar to Jane's.  I was able to go down to get my hair done,  but after that I was just worn out.  I wound up sleeping most of the afternoon.  And, I did sleep pretty good last night.  I was hungry for a hamburger,  which I hardly ever eat. But, I called our local carry-out and ordered a cheeseburger and an order of fried onion rings. It did taste good, but didn't really make me feel any better.  I was not hungry at dinnertime, so skipped dinner and then had a fudge bar later.

Thank goodness I feel ok this morning.  I think I might have done too much on Sunday.

I have 2 medical people coming in today.  One will be the PT therapist who will do the re-accessment and discharge me from Physical Therapy.  The second one is the visiting nurse.   I am hoping that this will be the last week for her, also.  One is coming around 11:30 and the other one about 1.  Right at lunchtime. So, that will mean lunch will be later again today.  One good thing, is neither of them will be here very long.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the cardiologist.  I have a list of questions for him.  I have not seen him since I was in the hospital, but so far, the nurse tells me that I am doing well.

Jane, hope you will have a better day today.  Sounds like you are just about ready for your family's visit.  I  know you can hardly wait until you see little Emma.

Amy, sounds like you will have a busy day.   Enjoy your Chinese lunch.   Always so many choices on their menus.

I need to get myself moving.

Make it  a good day.

Joy

Hi Everyone. This is suppose to be the last day we are in the 80's, at least for a few days.  We also have a 50% chance of afternoon showers.  This is going to be a busy morning.  The kitchen choirs have been done and Pat's breakfast fixed for her.  In about an hour or so I will drive her down to to Church so she can help in the pricing of the items for the women's bazaar that will be held tomorrow.  I will come home and meet with my friend for an hour at 10 am and then go back down to the Church to get Pat and we will go to Chik-Fil-Lay for a good lunch.  I also contacted an individual to see about getting the outside of our home pressure washed and a repair done on the gate to our fence into the back yard.  He is suppose to call sometime today to set a time to come over and give me an estimate of the cost.  That will be it for today and that is plenty.

I just read a posting on Pat Scott Halbach's Facebook page saying she had headed back to the hospital yesterday with some type of problem with her hip.  She requested our prayers for her as she deals with the new problem.

Callie, I also need to bring in the one garden hose I have along side the house.  It is one of those very lightweight ones and I have only used it once or twice all summer.  Since I don't do any outside watering anymore there has been no need.

June, nice to see you posting yesterday and to see you were up to having lunch in the dining room and then participating with the Red Hatters.  Music is the universal language.  I am listening to an old Frankie Laine song at this moment as I write here this morning. Do you only have to get one flu shot?

Jane, sorry to read you had a rough day at the cash register yesterday.  I am just glad that all of your days are not like that.  I hope your insulation guy will soon be back on his feet and be able to get your home insulated before the cold weather.  Nice that you are going to have a special bed for Emma when she is there.

Joy, sometimes just having something cold like the fudge bar is all that a person wants.  I expect today, since we are eating out at lunch time, that I will have an ice cream bar for my dinner tonight.  I try to eat something before I take my handful of medicine for the evening and I can always make room for ice cream.  Glad to see you are feeling OK this morning.  I hope you get the desired releases from the caregivers you have coming to see you today.

Shirley, reading about what you have had to do with your motor home in the last four years makes me very glad I don't own one.  You certainly are experienced with owning one and mastering all of the ins and outs.  You had a lot of good information for Lloyd and Nancy.

Amy, I hope you both have an enjoyable day today and I bet the girls will appreciate the homemade bread.  Like Lloyd, my mouth waters when I hear of homemade bread.  We haven't been to a Chinese Buffet for sometime as sort of got burned out on that type of food.  They sure can make a lot of different dishes with chicken and all of those sauces.  I have heard that excuse many times as why Pat needed to go to the quilt shop as just didn't have the right color material or needed something else. :)  I hope you enjoy making the quilt for your own use.

roley, it sounds like you are having some very pleasant weather.  I hope you can enjoy a nice time in your garden?

Good morning everyone, sun is shining this morning, wonder how long it will shine today. So tired of the gloomy days we have been having. Finally got winter clothes out with the help of CNA and summer ones put away. First time I needed help doing that.
Nothing to add this morning and if I do not go get breakfast and dressed my CNA will be here before I know it.
Have a great day.

Eveyone sounds in good shape today, and that makes me happy. I have done some catch up on personal paper work...medical stuff mostly.I don't know if I am eligible to vote in our local election or not,  as I can't remember if I registered or not.Too much illness lately. Looking back at my medical diary, there has been quite a bit of illness the past two or three years. But the body doesn't quit trying, thanks be to God.

I will be be going down for lunch now, then home to rest till3:15 when the Red Hatters will sing at the Elmwood building. So, off I go. See you later. June

Good morning.  Sun is out and it is beginning to warm up some.  Bob has been out blowing the leaves off of our patio....I think they were 4inches deep.  Our yard service comes to pick them up....hopefully tomorrow.  Our tree out front still has most of it’s leaves left to fall but most others are now pretty much done.  Bob will have to get up and clean out the gutters but I asked him to wait a couple of days more to let the rest of them fall.

JANE, good for you getting the carpet cleaning done today.  I hope your insulation guys heals quickly so he can finish that task for you.

Dr. Dave and Family arrived home safely last night.  Their flight was nearly 3 hours delayed, so the lost some precious time that sure would have been nice to have at home last evening to help them get ready for everyone to start their da6 today.  They have to all be very tired as they seemed to never stop while they were in London to even take a breath!  They sure did have a lovely vacation there.

I had some sad news from my neighbor, Pam. A few weeks ago she had to have more surgery on her stump of one of her legs.  Sadly, it is not healing well at all and she has been going every week day to the hospital to spend a few hours in the  hyperbaric chamber.  It is not healing well at all and she has been told that even AFTER it heals she will have to have another surgery on it meaning she has months ahead of her being in her wheel chair to look forward to.  Bless her heart, she has tried to be so positive and do what she needs to and it just seems that it is never going to end and let her have a break.  I am just heart sick for her.  Continued thoughts and prayers for her is appreciated.

LARRY, I am so sorry to read that Pat Halback is st8ll having more problems with her new hip.  She is another one tha5 just ca; not catch a break.

Now new inf from family in Florida.  We have read that they have restored power and water to the beach west of Panama City, but not in town yet.  Bless those poor people as they are far from seeing any normalcy to their lives for a good long while.

Hey, PHYLLIS...nice to see you mark your spot.  Hugs and well wishes to you today.

Enjoy the rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny, I am praying that God is enfolding Pam in His loving.healing arms.It must be very discouraging for her to have to face more and more treatments.

We Red Hatters did our sing over at the Elwood building and it is a pleasure to bring some joy into their midst. Some of them sang along with us, and that makes us joyful too. I am tired though and will spend a quiet evening at home. We will do one more performance on Friday morning, and that will be it. Tomorrow morning is Bible study with our Pastor. It is my Gary's turn, but he and Dori are out of town for two days. then Gary will do two weeks in a row to make up for his absence.

I hope you are all well, and have a peaceful night. Prayers, hugs, and love...always and ever, June

The living room is all put back together with everything washed and/or dusted before it was allowed back in.  I talked to the Dynamo tonight and she'll be here while I'm at work.  I told her she doesn't have to do anything in the living room so she said, "OK, I give special attention to the rest of the house."  And she will!  I think it's a problem to her that she doesn't really have enough time to do what she sees as needing done.  She keeps running overtime and I try to add a little to the next pay to take care of that.

Also, my good neighbors across the street trimmed my 5 overgrown Rose of Sharon bushes today.  I have two big bags of cuttings to get rid of and tomorrow, the part of the landfill that lets you dump that kind of stuff is open tomorrow so my son will dispose of them for me.

I'm just getting all spiffed up...tired too.  So I'm off to bed.  Sleep well my friends and may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning my friends!  Last night I did what my grandmother used to describe as "slept the sleep of the blessed".  I feel rested and ready to challange the day.  Thank you God!

I got up to a temp of 36º!  That's not so far above freezing!  I'm ready for a nice frost and then Indian Summer!

This will be short because I have to make dog food before the boinger goes and then get dressed and finish putting a few things away before I go to work because I'm probably going to pass my Dynamo in the driveway.  She said she'd probably be here around 10 or so and I have to be to work at 10:30.  The nice part of that is that she can give the doggies their snack at lunch time and I can take a sandwich to work.  Sometimes I wonder if I'm extra tired because I wait to have lunch when I get home on these late days.

Wish me smiles and short lines!

I hope you all have a wonderful day.  It's yours!  Make it special in your own way!

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday was a  fantastic day! Hubby got good news from the Dr..she is not changing a thing as the meds are doing their job now. Lunch was nothing but fun and laughter, even some of the other patrons joined in the fun.
Today is to take the script to the pharmacy for hubby to get the shingles vaccine and then I need to do somethin g with the pastry that is already made up in the fridge....apple pies for the freezer I think.

Jenny prayers for your friend let's hope things turn around for the better for her.

Larry, I hope Pat H is also on the med. I didn't have any luck at the one quilt shop I go to so it may mean a trip to the one further away, with the choco factory in the town. You know, the one town that leaves my wallet empty lol.

Jane, sounds like everything is coming together as you wanted....one more sleep and you will be hugging that little bundle of joy!!!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Just wishing you all a quick Good Morning.

Amy, great news from your husband's doctor.  That kind of news is always welcomed.

LLoyd,  just take your time getting everything ready,  You want to have everything in order before you leave on your travels and then all you will have to worry about is to have a "Terrific Trip"

Jane, Hope all will go well for you today and everything will be ready for your family's visit.  I am sure everyone is getting really excited.

Jenny, I, too,  feel so sorry for your friend/neighbor.  That must be such a difficult ordeal for her.  I hope it all will have a good outcome.

I have some paperwork that I want to get in order and finish up some chores,.  My doctor's appointment isn't until 3, so I will not have to rush getting ready.

Have a great Wednesday.

Hi Everyone. My morning is starting out at 67 degrees and is to get into the low to mid 80's this afternoon.  Pat did not go and help with the Bazaar setup preparation as it required a lot of carrying of items from one building to another and that is something she can no longer do.  However, she does want to go down and take the Bazaar is this morning so I will be taking her later this morning.  This evening we plan on going back to the Church for our Wednesday Night dinner and then enjoying a time of visiting with Scott. I know of nothing else on the schedule for today.

Yesterday we did go to Pizza Hut for our main meal of the day.  They have a noon buffet 5 days a week.  We stopped at the Pharmacy where we got the Rollator to see about an attachment so the cane could be affixed to the Rollator and they didn't have one in stock that would work with the model of Rollator that Pat has.  I did not hear back yesterday from the man I contacted to pressure wash the house and hope to hear from him today.

Gloria, nice to see you finally had some sunshine yesterday and had the help you needed getting your winter clothes out.  My summer and winter clothes all fit on my one rack in our big closet.

Jane, glad the carpet cleaners finally came. It sounds like your house is going to be very spiffy for your company and for you in the year ahead.  Having visitors does seem to spur us on to get things done that might have been put off.  I don't think more than two or three dishes have been removed and used from our china cabinet and the rest just sit there and look nice.  I doubt we ever use our China and crystal again.  No wonder you had a good nights sleep last night as you did a lot of work yesterday.  I do wish you smiles and short lines today.

June, we got our absentee ballots a few days ago and I have mine ready to mail.  We had to have our signatures witnesses and Pat should get hers done Friday and will ask the housekeeper to witness her signature.

Jenny, is it wise for Bob to try to clean the gutters as that will require ladder work won't it.  I don't have that problem here as these houses have no gutters.  I know you were glad to have Dr. Dave and family safely back home from their vacation.  So sorry your neighbor is having such a time healing.  Is she a diabetic?  I remember Stacey always had a tough time healing and although she was fitted with an artificial leg she never was able to actually use it for walking very much.  Unfortunately the poor people so impacted from the Hurricane will have a long time before any semblance of normalcy will return to their lives.  I saw some pictures from Southern Georgia showing row after row of downed pecan trees and they said about 70% of the trees had been lost.  It will take up to 10 years for replanted trees to be productive again.  That is the source of a lot of the pecans so know the prices for them will certainly be up in the years ahead.

Amy, here we do not need a special script to get the flu, pneumonia or shingles shots.  It is nice to read your husband had such a good visit with the cardiologist and that you had a fantastic day.  Laughter is the best medicine.  I know you must be heart broken to have to go to the other quilt store and where the chocolate factory is located.  It is tough work but someone has to do it.  :)

Lloyd, sorry to read that you have had to change your plans for starting your motor home phase of life.  The days go by so quickly though that next week will be here before you know it.

Joy, I hope your doctor's appointment goes well today.

Good morning everyone, the sun is shining and the sky is blue, 42° and the weather person says into the 60s today. Spring on the way back? Nope, tomorrow we will be lucky to get into the low 40's.

JUNE  have to admire your "get up and go". You do much more than I am able to.

JANE  your home is all Spick"n Span" waiting for your family to arrive. Bet you are just aching to hold Emma in your arms and cuddle her.

AMY  wonderful news from your hubby's doctor yesterday.

LARRY  the one closet here is also used for storing things so not enough room for all clothes. Winter ones are more bulky than summer ones and not it is crowed in that closet.

Have a good day.

Good Afternoon,

The weather was so drizzly and messy when I came out of the grocery store yesterday that I skipped doing other errands and came home.
Was very glad I did because Miss Ellen called just after I walked in the door and we had a wonderful 30+ minute visit - until she had to leave to go to work.
The first weekend of "Cabaret" performances went well and the house was "sold out".  Hope both continue for the remaining two weekends.  Her parents will be there this weekend and her aunt/uncle the next one.  An Oklahoma Fan Club!!!
She has found another interesting way to make some money.  She has registered with an Events Staffing Company.  She tells them the days she'll be available (I didn't ask within what time frame) and, if they are staffing an event that day, they contact her - she works it - and gets paid.     That's how she ended up working a location for a Fish Count on the rivers around NYC and some kind of Festival in the big park in Brooklyn.
She can work this around her job as a restaurant hostess, auditions and (hopefully) performances and, of course, every little $ in her pocket is A Good Thing.

Today's weather is very nice (so far - rain supposed to move in tonight/tomorrow  :( ) and I've spent the morning going "all around the town".  Took a big bag of no-longer-needed clothes to our local charity,  went to my church's Pumpkin Patch and got a pumpkin and some gourds to "arrange" around the tree in my front yard, and did the usual Braum's/Walgreens stops.

I've become somewhat addicted to Progresso brand Tomato Bisque soup - and, although the mega-grocery carries Progresso soups, it does not have the tomato bisque.  Only place I've found it is - of all places - Walgreens!  I got several cans this morning.

Now it's lunch time.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

:hugs:

Callie, we've been getting Progresso Chicken Noodle soup which has much more chicken and noodles in it.  I love Tomato Bisque soup and have been making my own from Campbell's Tomato soup.  I'll have to see if my store has the Progresso brand.  We order online and I just added some foods and I'll go back!

We have a sunny but cool day today - it's in the high 40s; the thermometer wavers between 49 and 50 but I think the sun is hitting it.

Mary Ann

PS Callie - I looked at our store site and there are four Progresso Tomato soups, two with basil, none called Bisque, however, one is a creamy soup and I think milk is one ingredient for bisque soup.  I also chop up an onion slice fine and add paprika, salt and pepper.  It suits my taste, anyway.

Mary Ann,  Crest had several other kinds of Progresso "flavored" tomato soup - but not the bisque.  Isn't the first thing they haven't had that other stores do - but I didn't expect to find it in the small grocery section of Walgreen's!

Gonna make this short because I'm so tired all I want to do is lie down.  Most of what needs doing before guests is done.  About all I have to do now is the the stuff I suddenly remember that I hadn't even thought about before.  There's always something.  I wonder what it will be tomorrow

Jane, most of all get some rest so you can make that baby smile!  Enjoy!

Callie, that grand of yours is a delight to read about.... what an upbeat person she is & so full of spunk.

My daughter just got in town & brought me over 2 stacks of DVDs (must be at least 50) to watch in the RV (could not get good reception on the antenna last time I was at the lake in MO... the bedroom TV has a built in DVD player.  The big TV over the "cab" has a separate DVD player but it is harder for this short person to reach into the cabinet next to the TV to put them in or take out. Besides, the cats want to be where I am so the king size bed is best place for us.  Probably the last trip until spring, got to get it winterized & then take care of the pool & everything else, but given half a chance we might get away again.

Good night, sweet dreams and God Bless Us All...

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I couldn't finish my post last night because the keyboard locked.  But it seems to be working fine this morning.

AMY, the excitement I'm feeling today is far greater that anticipation of Christmas gifts.  Christmas has it's own special anticipation with the happenings long ago but today is going to be and I'm so excited I'm going to burst!  I finish a chore and I think of it.  I have lunch and I think of it.  I wake up and I think of it.  SHE'S COMING!  TONIGHT!

I'll try to check in from time to time and maybe Cindy can teach me to post while Emma sleeps.  I won't be on the computer while she's awake.

Have a great day Everyfriend.  In my mind no ones day can compare with mine but you do your own thing and make it special to you!

Hi Everyone. Finally we are to have a cooler day only getting up to in the low 70's this afternoon.  This morning it is a pleasant 64 degrees outside.  This is a good morning for a sweater or a light jacket when going out.  I will be picking up my friend and we will go downtown to coffee this morning and after I return him home I will stop at the pickup point and get the grocery order at Walmart that Pat placed a couple of days ago. That is my schedule for today.  Yesterday we did have a pretty busy morning as went down to the Church Bazaar for an hour or so and left a few dollars in the cash box.  We then went to the barber shop where we each got a needed haircut and finally to Walmart Pharmacy where Pat got a flu shot and a Shingles Shot.  I checked my records and found I did have the pneumonia shot a couple of years ago and had forgotten and that I was in error thinking I had to have a second flu shot.  So am down to only needing one more shingles shot and I will be all caught up on shots. I went to the Wednesday night dinner at the Church and Scott joined me and then came out to the house.  I bought a take out meal to bring home to Pat as she was too tired to go back downtown.

Gloria, it is time for some fall type weather.  I hope you felt up to getting some of the sun and nice temperature yesterday. I understand your closet situation as we have lived in houses before with very small closets.  Fortunately this house and the two before had very nice sized closets.  The apartment house where Stacey lived for 6 years had no closets but just a short clothes rack and shelf on one wall.

Callie, how great that Miss Ellen's parents will be able to see her performance is Cabaret as well as her aunt and uncle.  Glad she has found a supplemental job that works around her other commitments. If we buy canned soups to eat as soup I prefer the Progresso.  Pat does use other brands in cooking.  I am not a big fan of tomato soup but do like the tomato bisque soup that we get from Costco.

Lloyd, I have always been able to read and understand your postings and I think you do very well.

Jane, it sounds like the weight of getting ready for your weekend family visitors has lifted since you are basically ready.  Glad you could make the grumpy customers smile.  Do you use a wireless keyboard and if so your batteries may be getting pretty weak.  Glad you were able to get back on this morning.

Shirley, it sounds like with all those DVD's to watch you will need to get another trip in before you winterize your motor home.

Roley, I will check out the link you posted a little later today.  You sure did post late or early depending on one's view.

Amy, I just had my iPhone Siri convert your temperature this morning and it is equilivent to 17 degrees here.  That is cold and it is not likely we will see it get that cold here all winter.

Good Morning, Everyfriend,

JaneS,   I'll bet you're  "Livin' On Tulsa Time" today.....and, of course, at least a little bit on Texas Time.

Mary Ann,  the can of Progresso Tomato Bisque lists ingredients (other than additives I don't recognize) as:  tomato puree (tomato paste/water), water, corn starch, sugar, soybean oil, salt, garlic powder, dried parsley, and "spice".

Temperature continues to be "moderate" but clouds are moving in again.  <sigh>
No specific Projects du Jour but I'm sure I'll find something that needs to be done.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Callie, thanks for the Tomato Bisque ingredients.  I picture Bisque as being slightly lighter color than regular Tomato Soup and that is why I think milk is involved.  Regardless, I like the soup and I'm sure I use milk instead of water for the liquid.  It's nice to know I can use tomato puree if I want.

We're enjoying a sunny day, however, my thermometer that has the censor in the sun reads 45 degrees.  It was 31 degrees when I rolled out of bed at 6:45 am.  That is Brrr weather.

Mary Ann

CALLIE, the Tulsans went to Texas yesterday.  They are flying out of Dallas today and unless I figured wrong they are probably almost to the airport right now.  So I guess I'm on Dallas time.

Larry, my keyboard is not cordless.  And I checked the plugs and everything seems fine but it's very old and some of the keys need to be hit twice sometimes.  I think I might put a new keyboard on my Christmas list.

The last of the bedding is in the washer and when that's finished and the bed is made, I'll be READY!

Roley, I, too enjoyed your video.  I would wish it for you if it were a possibility.  Great things are happening all the time!

The washer is finished and as soon as the dry quits, I'll put the stuff in there and have some lunch.  Enjoy the rest of your day...whether it's half over or just beginning or somewhere else entirely.

Mary Ann,  you don't add any liquid to the Progresso Tomato Bisque.  It's a larger can and the label says 1/2 a can is a serving and equal to one serving of vegetables.  It does have a sweet taste so you might want to "spike it up" a bit.

Jane,  can you track the flight on the airline's web site?   I do that when Ellen is flying back and forth or son/dil are on a scuba-diving trip.

I didn't think to ask the flight number or even the airline.  My other granddaughter (Emma's auntie) lives and works in Baltimore and she's meeting them and then driving them here.  I just have their ETA HERE.  They promised to text me when they go through the last town before ours.

Callie, it is my recipe that uses milk because I use Campbell's soup and you have to add liquid to the can.  I know other Progresso soups are "ready to eat" so I would assume the Tomato Bisque is too.  I have checked Tomato with Basil on my grocery list.  It does not say Bisque and I don't know what makes a soup Bisque.  I do know I like tomato soup with basil.  My soup also calls for paprika and onion.  When I eat/slurp the Tomato with Basil soup, I'll let you know what I think.

Late getting here today.  I slept in a little later than usual, as I was cold and got up and pushed the thermostat up and went back to sleep.

Then I had to rush to get myself breakfast and get dressed.   The PT was coming at 11 to do the paper work for my discharge.  She also walked with me down to get my mail, just as a last exercise.  So, now I only has the nurse coming and I am not sure how long that will be for.

I was pleased with all the ones that came for the therapy.  They all were nice and pleasant and certainly did help me a lot.  I know it was a kind of pain with them in and out just about every day, but they were happy with the goals that were set and accomplished.  Now, I just have to try and keep up with the exercise plan they gave me.

It really turned chilly overnight.   Lots of wind.

I had a doctor's visit yesterday with the cardiologist and he was pleased with my progress and the reports from all the help that I had over the past couple weeks.  I had taken the records with me from all their visits.  My EKG was good, and he said to just keep on with the same medicines, and come back in January.

I hope everyone will have a great evening.

Joy

I woke up this morning thinking about our 911 disaster. Could picture the horror in my mind, but forgot who the perpetrators were. So got on the computer while it was still dark outside, and came up with the answer. An organization of terrorists called Al Qeda, whose leader was Osama Bin Laden, an Arab. who formed this Islam Terrorist group.  How soon we forget.

We are having a Harvest Hoedown program today...special luncheon, then on to the program. Of course I will attend it all. Then come home, and read and rest. Tomorrow we are having a Red Hat Singalong, and I will need to participate in that. Plus, volunteers are needed to fill cookie bags for another program. I would like to help...depending on what the body allows.

Nearly time to go chow down, so I will see you all later. June/

Had a good time today. Catfish, fried green tomatoes for lunch, then down later for the Hoe Down. Great entertainment by a husband and wife team, fun dancing ...good western music. I did one waltz with my cart, till Jill...one of our entertainment girls joined me. It was a fun time and needless to say, I am happily pooped tonight. Another busy day tomorrow so I am off to an early bed and book. Hugs, Prayers, and God's Blessings on you all, my dear friends. June

I am thrilled that you sound like the "old June" tonight.... you really are an inspiration to all of us, June.

While ago I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed, TomCat was sleeping on the floor... he follows me from room to room. Tiger has already gone off to her hidey hole, she picks a new one as soon as I discover where she is.  She has been indignant because Tom wants to sleep on my bed & she doesn't share.  Anyway, it was just a little after 8:00 so people don't usually knock on doors this late around here.... but sounded like someone pounding on a door but I could tell which one.  Tom jumped up & took off, he hides if anyone rings the bell or knocks on a door.  I knew it wasn't my imagination since it scared him, too.  Listened for a minute to see if whoever it was would knock again, didn't, so I went to get my Ruger that was still in a gun bag from the last trip to MO...

Then I started going from door to door & turning on lights.  I have the LED dusk to dawn lights all the way around the eves, front & back, so pretty bright out anyway.  Finally called the lady next door to see if it might have been them but she said they heard the same noise & thought it was someone knocking on their sun room... they went outside to check but said since their dog wasn't barking at anything, they had no idea what it was.  Since it sounded like it came from their back & I couldn't tell if front or back, I'm wondering if someone was just checking out houses & knocking on all the doors to see who is home.  We have several houses in the neighborhood empty, people have moved to nursing homes & don't want to sell yet.

Most of us have fences around the back yards but that doesn't slow them down, someone ripped the copper ground wires from the poles back there twice.   :tickedoff:   My heart has slowed down to about 120 so guess I'll go on to bed.  I don't really get scared but certainly serious about defending myself.  ;)  I feel better just telling someone about it, anyway.

Good morning everyone..

24° F here this morning ,fire is crackling away chasing the chill out. I need to buy a hatchet this morning. Neighbour gave us some cedar which is great for kindling but needs finer cutting.

Managed to get the van washed and 3 quilts delivered yesterday...plus some cleaning up.

Friend coming this morning around 7 to pick up some quilt tops to take to the quilter for daughter in love so I had better go turn the outside lights on.

June, I agree with Shirley so happy to read you had a fantastic day yesterday.

Enjoy your day everyone..

G'Morning All. Larry, i posted that letter around 10am here, i knew you would all be in the land of nod ! :), but it is still mild and sunny here and i like to take advantage of it while i can,so i do all of my PC jobs as soon as i am able then go and sit in the garden for a while, with me old mate, Little Alfie !, between us we take care of those 'pesky intruders' .
I have just been reading Shirley's letter about the strange knock at her door then her going to her gun bag first, as you may know, we are not allowed fire arms here, so this is what I do to get rid of unwelcome visitors here !.
I think I have already told you how we are plagued by 'amongst others' by Wood Pigeons and Sea Gulls, the Gull's are also a 'Protected Bird' so, to keep within the law, I am armed, with a 'Multi Shot - Water Pistol' !!,as soon as I, or my mate little Alfie spot a Gull or a Woody land on the fence or in the garden, then I open fire !, much to the delight of Alfie who, gets his exercise by running up and down the garden, barking at each 'strike' !, mind you !, as soon as we go back indoors, they come back !, alas,it's a never ending story but it keeps everyone happy !.

Good morning everyone, On Wednesday night somehow I turned in my sleep onto my left side, I sleep on the right side. Well my left shoulder is the one I was going to have replaced but the insurance I had then dropped the group and I sure could not afford to pay for the surgery or hospital. That shoulder is bothering me but sleeping on it the other night I could hardly move my left arm so never even turned the PC on. Feels a bit better this morning but not doing much so far. It is 30° now, frosty this morning.

Hope I can do better here tomorrow.

Hi Everyone. It is a beautiful but cool morning here in South Carolina with a clear sky and bright sunshine.  How could it be any better.  Our housekeeper will be here soon as another two weeks have flown by.  We had a brief visit from our son this morning which was an unexpected surprise.  There is nothing else on the schedule for today and just hoping for a pretty restful day.

Callie, at least the Progresso soup doesn't like salt near the top of the ingredient list.

Mary Ann, you are now having some pretty chilly nights.  We are still in the 60's at night but see we will be getting into the low 50's and high 40's over the next several nights.  You piqued my curiosity so did a quick search and found that usually it's pureed seafood and cream that makes makes a soup a  bisque.  I guess on the tomato bisque they just leave out the seafood.

Jane, new keyboard are really quite inexpensive.  I still use an old IBM corded keyboard and corded mouse on my desktop.  Good idea to put that on your Christmas list as I expect your family would appreciate a few suggestions.

Joy, it is not too enjoyable to get up to a cold apartment or house and it feels good to lay back down in the warm bed until it warms up a bit.

June, we may forget some of the details but thought of us who were aware of what was going on on 9/11 will likely never forget the day that changed so much in America and still impacts our lives in so many ways. It was nice to read you were up to attending the Harvest Hoedown program and special luncheon.  The dancing must have lifted your spirits as well as know you love doing that dancing.

Shirley, that would certainly be a frightening experience with perhaps someone knocking on doors. Glad you have good outside lighting and it doesn't sound like anyone would want to encounter you as you are prepared.

Hi Jenny.

Amy, can we now call you Amy the hatchet lady?  :)

roley, that was such an interesting video your shared and I shared it with some of my friends.  They are making amazing advancement is so many areas and being able to restore the ability for people to walk is marvelous.  It sounds like your garden visitors make your sitting in the garden interesting and gives Alfie some good exercise.  There are many people in America who keep pushing for gun control but don't think it will happen.

Gloria, glad you felt up to checking in this morning.

If anyone is interesting in the transportation of the future hit little video will give you a preview:

WOW!  Larry, if I could afford that I would be in line to buy already!

Have a yard full of robins this morning, migrating through.  See them every year & wonder if they are from Alaska as they are usually the last to come through.  The whole band are more gray than all the others, but they remember when we had huge pyracantha bush in the front & back berm.... bushes are gone but must be plenty of others in the neighborhood.

June, on 9/11 my daughter was "in the air" somewhere back east, so we were really worried.  Just like Pearl Harbor, burned in the memory, right?  Some details fade & seem more shocking when we re-live it.

Roley/Peter, if I forget to say thanks, I really do enjoy the links. I am able to get videos on this new computer "sometimes". My server (Cox) is not good in this area and about half the time I can't even get into the mailbox provided by them.  That is a real pain since I set up most of my "shopping" (like Amazon) with that mailbox.

Must get busy, wishing all a "Fantastic Friday".... thanks to Callie.

Garden is tilled and ready for winter ,me I am just ready for a nap now! Leftovers for supper so that is taken care of..

Wonder how Janie is doing..can you just imagine the hugging and cooing going on in her home?

AMY you're right about the hugging and cooing.  This baby is definitely a KEEPER!  She doesn't mind who's playing with her as long as someone does.  This morning I played "high chair".  I held her on my lap while Ali fed her and it worked fine.

She has such a sweet disposition and she went right to sleep last night with just a little whining.  We listened on the intercom and it was just minutes until she was asleep.  They said she is a very good traveller but Ali was glad her mom was there to help out.  It's not easy travelling with a six month old...even a well behaved one!

She actually laughed out loud for me several times.  I wish I could share this feeling better with all of you but I'm sure you understand.  I need to get off here and get ready for heir return.  They are visiting some of my daughter's friends and will be returning soon.

I hope you are all having as much fun as I am!

Janie, you sound SO happy with your loved ones there. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

I had another good day. Our red hatters sang for others in our main Lobby. (I call it the club house, as that is where all the activities take place. Tomorrow we are having our yearly Senior Health and Wellness Expo. Outside public is also invited so hundreds of chairs will be set up and the vendors will have covered tables in the actual garden area, there will be free food and drinks of course. All I have to do is take the elevator down and I will be there.

So i am ready for bed and a good sleep. Thank you to those of you who noted my health, I wish you all the same . Love, Hugs. Good health, freedom from pain, and  Gods' very best Blessings, always. June

Hi Everyone. Today's forecast shows that we will be having a lot warmer and day today than yesterday as we will get up to around 80 degrees and have wind and a possibility of rain. It is to be cloudy all day.  My schedule is light for today as just plan on going to a meeting and then stopping to get the air pressure checked in my tires as have had a low pressure light on the dash for several days.   I look forward to watching some college football this afternoon and early evening.

Yesterday was a pretty quiet day with just the housekeeper here and then at noon we went out to eat our main meal of the day.  I was laying down resting and my Ring doorbell rang and it was the man I had called about giving me an estimate on the cost of pressure washing my house and fixing my gate.  He has to get back to me on the costs.

Shirley, I can just visualize you with the flying car.  That sure was a pretty sleek and nice looking vehicle.  Of course you would need a pilots license I would think as well as the driver's license although it sounds like the car pretty much flew itself.  Seeing all of those robins must be a sight.  I haven't even seen or heard any geese fly over and the hummingbirds are still eating at the feeder.  No wonder you were worried on 9/11 as you had a loved one who could have been on one of those planes.  Sure glad that wasn't the case.  A suggestion, go to the settings for the Cox mailbox and you should find where you can set it so all of the mail coming to that mailbox can automatically be transferred to your preferred email account.  I have done this for years and have everything sent to my gmail account.

Amy, I guess Fiskars is really into sharp objects.  Pat does have some Fiskars scissors but we have no need for a hatchet.  Glad you have were able to get your garden ready for winter. Enjoy your baking today today and I hope you don't have to chase down your laundry.

Lloyd, I can't think of one reason why we would not want you to be posting as you are a valued member of our cyber family.  I hope you can get your laptop hooked up to the wi-fi in your new motor home.  I know the news is depressing but I still want to know what is going on in the world and in my local community.  I try not to sit and think about it or worry about it.

Jane, so happy for you being able to enjoy Emma as a baby and to have your daughter and granddaughter there as well.  Little Emma is going to be a seasoned traveler.  Our children also were pretty seasoned travelers as they are just 15 months and 30 months old when we moved from Oklahoma City to Anchorage, Alaska.  That was a long, long trip although we did a stop over in Seattle and spent the night with Pat's brother and his wife and that helped.  Your happiness at having them there does radiate from your posting. Now you know most of us are not having as much fun as you are this weekend as most of us are not around those little bundles of joy.  My youngest great grandchild is now 7 years old and we have never seen him in person.  Our oldest great grandson is turning 16 in just a couple of days.

June, it is certainly encouraging to see you have been able to enjoy two full days of activities and special events.  I hope today also finds you feeling good and that you are up to attending your Senior Health and Wellness Expo.  Where we moved from our Senior Center sponsored those events each year and they were well attended.

Gloria, good to read you may be feeling a little better this morning.  Thanks for alerting us that you may not post on Monday and Tuesday.

Good Saturday morning.

I missed getting here yesterday, as I had a busy day.

One of my "special" nieces picked me up around 10 to go to lunch to celebrate her mother's (my sister-in-law) 93rd birthday.   My niece had called me on Thursday night and insisted that she wanted to pick me up, even tho, she lives about an hour from me.   Another niece was bringing  her mother, another SIL, and they all wanted to surprise the "birthday gal".  After I got picked up, it was  another hour to the restaurant, but it was a beautiful, sunny day and the ride was through some beautiful countryside.  Our foliage hasn't started to change yet, so everything was still a beautiful green.  We passed several big horse farms and lots of plowed fields.

It turned out to be such a nice day.  My SIL was so surprised as she was not expecting to see me or her other sister.  Several of the schools were closed, so several of her great-grandchildren  were there, along with several other family members. I guess it was about 20 total.

My niece who picked me up, is one of the sweetest girls and she told me that it was very important to her and to her mother for me to be there.  I live the farthest from most of the rest of my extended family.  We do have a very close family, even tho a lot of them don't live close.  But, we do try to get together whenever we can.  The sister-in-laws are all getting up in years and have various health problems and sometimes it is an effort to get to places.  So, I was really happy that it all turned out so well yesterday.

June, glad you had a nice day at your place.  Sounds like a lot of fun.

Jane, I know you are just really enjoying having little Emma and her family with you.  You are making special memories for all of you.   Times you will look back to and keep enjoying over and over.

It is a pretty sunny day here, but kind of chilly.  I only had to turn the thermostat up for a short time this morning before it had warmed up nicely.  Usually , don't have to turn it up again during the day.

Gloria, sorry that you are having problems with your shoulder.  Hope  you are feeling better this morning and were able to sleep better,

I have been on the computer too long this morning. DId an on-line order from Walmart and then was on Facebook with my grand daughter.  I need to get off here and get on with some chores.

Hope everyone will have a nice Saturday.

Joy

Clipped all three dogs nails, I don't know who it takes the more out of me or the dogs. Two of the dogs behave not too badly but one......shheesh.it sure can be a work out!!!

Amy we had some vicious winds last Thurs. night. I had left my windows open when I went to bed, and the wind rattled my venitian blinds and woke me up, but not before it brought in a lot of dust. My housekeeper really earned her wages this week.

Gloria, it is time for your body to give you some good days, as mine has done lately. I spent four hours downstairs today at our big Health and Wellness program….and now ready to fix a light supper, since I had a huge lunch downstairs. I will just have some cottage cheese and canned fruit and get ready for book and bed. Our weather has been like a second summer lately, I even had my A/C on today..They were giving free shots to the public at our program today, but I already had mine. My doctor has me taking a can of Gatorade each day now, and it has really given me more energy…..better than more pills.

Larry, we got up to 90 today….I can do without that, but no one asked me. Our Wellness program is a yearly thing and always very well attended. I even  had a free back massage today……ooooo….so nice. I took one of their cards, in hopes they make house calls.  I daily massage my legs and arms, because of my P.A.D. illness but unfortunately my arms are too short to reach my back.

Past time to fix my light supper, so I will bid you all a very Good Night, with much Love, Prayers, and Peace, always and forever..June

Been a roller coaster few days.... I drove about 300 miles today & ended up back home.  Started to go to the lake to have only a 35 mile drive to my "cousin reunion" which is tomorrow.  Yesterday my oldest son finally gave up & told his doctor "something had to be done".  He has felt bad for weeks, thought it was reaction to the flu shot.  We've all worried because the doctor he goes to never did get the infection in his leg/blood stream cured & told him that "he'd just have to live with it like that the rest of his life".  It is swollen, skin so thin it looks like it could pop & Dr said "the lymph nodes in his legs are dead"....2 years & still looks the same and the stupid doctor never did use the strongest meds or shots to cure it.  NOW, today, they ran a scope down his throat to look at his heart & think there is valve damage & going to need to replace it!!!  I was about 2/3 way to destination when I called back & heard this news (he did not want Mom to be there)..... The infection is in or around his heart so why would a doctor use a scope down the throat to swish that infection all around?  Is that common sense?  An echocardiogram is NOT invasive & would have shown the same detail.  Now this doctor is talking about a heart cath & for sure, I will be asking another cardiologist if this is wise while the infection is still all through his body.....

My biggest concern is the doctor that has messed up so badly is picking the doctors that are now going to "cover up" for him.  I am beside myself, just told my daughter "if they don't pick the doctor doing the surgery they might as well hand the knife to the janitor".... He will listen to her, but Andy's wife likes their doctor so am concerned she will let him have the last word.... he's just a family doctor... I'm repeating myself & need to go eat & get some sleep, not been a great day.  I'm okay, under control & will not do anything to upset the kids, (but "heaven help that doctor if he tries to cover up his neglect to me".....)  I have blown my lid, thanks for listening.....  not one of my better moments.

Good morning g everyone...

Shirley, I would be asking for another Dr also. Some Dr;s like to think they are God but as we know they is only ONE God. Prayers for your and you. That is the first time I have heard that someone has to live with an infection..

June, we have high winds again today. The power is to be off from 8 am to 3 pm  to make it better for us in the long run. So they say! With the winds so high I wonder if Hydro will follow through on their planned outage?

We are off to the city for a 12.pm appointment at Costco for new tires today. I didn't realize that the garage part was open on a Sunday but it is. While there we will pick up a few things and some for our neighbour. We are meeting a lady from quilting and I will pass over the last of the camp quilts to her. Also giving her the sleeves from hot drinks at Tims to make cat toys with along with crinkly pieces of bags from cereal etc to make cat  toys.

Joy, that was a nice surprise for both you (being driven by your  niece) and your  SIL.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Hi Everyone. It is a cool and crisp but sunny 55 degree morning here and we are headed only to the low 60's this afternoon.  I just finished fixing Pat's breakfast and finishing up the kitchen chores and have only a few minutes before I will need to leave for Sunday School.  I think Pat will want me to come and get her for Church this morning and then we will go out to eat afterwards.  I did get to my meeting and then went to Costco, along with a lot of other people it seemed.  I am looking forward to watching some football this afternoon and that will be it for today.

I will make only limited comments today as see others have pretty much said what I would likely have written and I am running out of time before I have to leave the house.

Sandy, the flying cars are not for me either and it will surely be a long time before they are available although I thought the same about electric cars and they are here to stay.

Shirley, so sorry to read of the problems your son is experiencing and it sounds like he needs to seek the help of some different doctors.  Sorry your trip had to be interrupted but life interferes with our plans sometimes.  Like Amy I can't image a doctor saying a person will just have to live with an infection.

Good morning everyone, raining now but should be sunny this afternoon. For the first time I just heard the weatherman talk about wind chill this fall. Also a freeze warning tonight. Just hope it is not raining tomorrow and Tuesday because I have to go out both days.

LARRY  my grandson did something on my computer that has all my email come in on the gmail, I like it that way. Of course I do not get all the email I got when I was in the different PSP groups. I miss PSP but for some reason it will not install anymore. I am wondering if the disk drive is not working right.

JOY  foliage here iss lat e this year, not  too much color yet and this should be the peak of it now. About 6 years ago I was ready to have the left shoulder replaced but the insurance I had dropped the group the doctor was in and I could not afford to pay for it. Had the right one replaced 7 years ago.

GLORIA de  last time I had a shot in my back the doctor hit a nerve at my spine and paid no attention to it. Bubble and Patricia do some wonderful creations all year. Makes me jealous because I miss doing what they do.

JUNE  glad the  Gatorade helps you. My oldest son drinks it, too. I cannot, makes me sick. My CNA massages my back and it feels so good.

SHIRLEY  I wonder if some of the doctors these days are quacks. Like the one I had for 10 years, swear he got his diploma online. I will add your son to my prayers, you, too.

Have a good day.

I feel better this morning after church & breakfast with son's wife & my daughter with her 3 grands.  My DIL did take advice from all of us & checked for the best group of cardiologists & we all agree with her findings..... same group my husband & I use, not same doctor (my surgeon retired).  Then to know Jane, Amy, Larry, Gloria have included Andy in your prayers.... another big relief.  I happen to believe prayers from this group get special consideration. Thank you for the intentions. It does appear this is the SAME STRAIN of infection (worst possible) that the leg showed, so we know it's had 2 years to grow.  Makes me sick at my stomach that this doctor is still "practicing".... not curing.....  I did ask God to help me keep my mouth shut about this.... forgot to mention typing.

It is a gorgeous day in Kansas, crisp but getting warm.  The trees are starting to show color, that always gives my heart a boost.  I love the seasons & thoroughly enjoy watching birds migrating & can't help be amazed at how this world works.

Larry, think you are right about needing a license to fly that thing, do with a gyrocopter, but I still have my motorcycle license & would work on getting whatever is needed... has been a dream of mine since I was very young.  My father & all of my engineer kids & grands have refused to build one for me.... how sad is that?  Wah........

Jane, are we going to see photos of you & "Little Reba" soon?  Does she still look like you?  Did you mention how long they get to stay?

Gloria, is there nothing they can do for the pain?  My friend's husband suffered from his knees so long it affected his back until he couldn't move with out terrible pain.... and his son heard of the band aid type surgery for his back, went in & out same day & the pain was gone in his back.  His wife said it really was like a small Band Aid patch on his back.

Ah, Amy, always something needed for these vehicles, huh?  I had to have an alignment for the RV when replacing the front tires... cost almost as much as the tires.  Happy to hear about anyone recycling anything.... My sister-in-law's mother used to crochet plastic bread sacks into seat covers..... she was always making something out of nothing, volunteered at the Salvation Army once a week to work with the ladies hand quilting (fund raiser for them).  My mother paid them to put together the quilt pieces she made as a young girl, she was so proud of the finished quilt she kept it in her "hope chest" trunk for the rest of her life.  Sadly, it disappeared, nobody had a clue where it went after they died.  The fabric was from early 1900 & entirely hand made, so would have brought a big price if stolen to sell.  You do so many good deeds.

Joy, you do have such a loving & caring family.... and what a joy when Joy showed up at the party!  Sometimes a car ride is just what we need.... even my 300 mile trek yesterday, plenty of time to think & the scenery was outstanding.  These flat lands may be boring to some, but when I drive through the Flint Hills & can see the horizon many-many miles away, I picture those wagon trains struggling to go up & down the gullies.

June, sounds like you are doing so much better, hope it keeps up so you can enjoy the holidays ahead.  For sure your happy place will be celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving & then the Christmas Season.  June will be dancing on the walls!   :woohoo:

Thanks, GloriaDe.... "check out Holidays and BD. as Bubble and Patricia have been putting some great graphic in for Halloween."..... I have not remembered to do that & know how talented these ladies are.    Shirley

Home from a nice Church service…always receiving inspired words. There is always a freedom in knowing that we are forgiven.

Soon I will go down for a nice turkey dinner with all the trimmings, then home for book and nap. Sunday is a quiet day with one exception. They have what is called Wii bowling. Which I do not care for.

Our high for the day will be in the low 80's, nice napping weather and then out for a long walk before supper.

Tisie, my heart cries for you, living with the seriousness of your son's illness, and not having reliable doctors. Is there a possible medical organization you could contact for help…..like writing to Mayo Clinic and telling them your concerns ?

Good afternoon, cool and very windy

Shirley, I agree with  Larry and Amy, I would goto another group of doctors and see what they have to say.  Also my prays and thoughts are with your son

Gloria, I gave up on having those shots in the back for 2 years.  The last time I went they had to give me 3 shots in a row. I said no more. I now can lift my arm up only about 5 inches

Good evening......another weekend that has passed much too quickly!

Yesterday Dr.Dave called and asked us to go up to their condo in Vail and join them for the weekend.  We jumped at the chance and it was a wonderful time spent with them.  We have not seen them since before we left for Boston.  They showed us their pictures of the trip to London.  They sure enjoyed a wonderful vacation there.

SHIRLEY, I feel ill after reading the terrible news about Andy.  I do hope that he will see another doctor and see what options he has.  I am so sorry you did not get to continue your trip to the family reunion.

I posted a few nights ago and thought it was all there.....then when I came back in a day later I see it is only the first line that got posted.  I have no idea why this happened, but it did.

I can hardly keep my eyes open so I must say goodnight and pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone...

We must have had rain overnight. Patio stones are wet, yet when I let the dogs out they came in dry. Just got told hubby was up earlier and it was snowing that is why the wet stones.

Yesterday was great. we managed to get all that was on our list at Costco..plus a few others ;) I couldn't believe the size of the pumpkin pie for only 5.99!! A can of pumpkin is 3.79 so that pie was a bargain. Too big for us, so I sent half home with the neighbour.

Today is ironing, a trip to the drug store and a friend is coming to pick up my fabric scraps. Shirley, this lady is going to make cat blankets/pillows and she needed the stuffing/batting for them. I needed a place for all my little scraps so it is a win win situation!

Gloria, hope your shoulder is better today.

Lloyd, you will have that internet all figured out before you hit the road.

June, turkey dinner sounds lovely.

Shirley that quilt would have been worth a lot! So sad that it didn't stay in the family. People don't realize just how much a quilt is worth, never mind the sentimental  tie to it. I have an old quilt that was wait from men's old (scratchy) suits and tied  not quilted. Heavy as all get out but warm.

Roley, thank you for another journey, will go get another cup of tea and watch it.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Years ago women made quilts to keep warm and they almost were part of the furniture.  I have a Double Wedding Ring cover my grandmother made for me.  I used that cover for many years and it was badly worn.  I still have it, love it and it is hanging on the wall of my bedroom, however, it is in bad shape top and bottom.  Grandmother made it in 1934.  I won't give it up, but I know when I am gone it will be cut up for one reason or other.  It still is a heirloom, but I am the only one to treasure it.  I am sure the cover was made for use and it really did get used.  My mother made some quilts that were not so pretty, but nice and warm.  It was a way of life back then.

Hi Everyone. Hi everyone.  For the first time this season we have our heat on in the house as it was 68 in here when we got up and we like it about 72 or 73.  Yesterday after Church we went to Firehouse Subs for our lunch and a couple from our Sunday School class came in to eat and I asked them if they were meeting anyone and since they weren't they joined us and it made such an enjoyable meal visiting with them.

It has been a busy morning and I am late coming here to read and write.  I did the kitchen chores and got Pat's breakfast.  She needed a few things to make the stew and chili she plans to make as well as some apple butter.  I needed more breakfast drink and had to replace my sunglasses as the stem broke on Saturday.  It was in the 40's outside so a jacket felt good and Walmart always seems to be cold.

When I got home I packaged up three pounds of stew meat in pound bags and also about 4 lbs of hamburger that comes from Costco in half pound pieces but each one needed to be wrapped in shrink wrap and stored in freezer bags.  Those items are now in the freezer and the mess cleaned up.  I told Pat not to expect much more out of me today as think I used up my day's supply of energy.  I may need to fix lettuce salads for us to go with the stew. which I am pretty sure she plans for our dinner tonight.

Gloria, fall is definitely here.  Getting all of our email coming to one place is nice.

Shirley, you were probably very smart to keep your mouth shut regarding your son's problems.  I hope he can now get some good medical treatment.  Will they do heart surgery with a rampart infection?  Your family has refused to build the gyrocopter because they were probably afraid you would get another speeding ticket?  :)  I love that story and it always gives me a chuckle when I think of it. I can't even image traveling across the country in a wagon train going into the unknown.

Jane, I will try to remember to check out the photos so I can see little Emma.

June, it sounds like you had a nice Sunday and a good dinner.

deAngel, my wife was told she would not be getting anymore shots in her back as they just didn't work for her.

Lloyd, glad to see you posting.  Nice to have birthday parties to go to.  Our son turns 55 on Thursday and is finally taking a week off from work.  Unfortunately he is going to lose three weeks of vacation time but that is his choice.  We will not be having a party but will go out to eat at Diablo's.  He didn't want to go to a more expensive place.

Jenny, nice you live close enough to spend a weekend at Vail without having to make a long drive.  Know you enjoyed your time with Dr. Dave and the family.

roley, I will check out the new video link.

Amy, I know what you mean about the size of those pumpkin pies.  I forgot about them or would have got one as our son loves pumpkin pie and think he would prefer that to a cake.  Pat did iron a few items yesterday afternoon and the ironing board is still up in the family area as she has several more blouses to iron.

Good afternoon

Jenny, I think there is a Gremlin in the computer that takes our lost post >:( I have to be silly once in a while, world is to serious.

Amy my husband Grandmother from Ala. made beautiful quilts all by hand, One was made from ties. another from silks. I gave that top to my DIL, I think it was too fragile by then to be quilted. I made a quilt for Dennis's crib, from flour sacks

I wasted an hour at least on this old Viking sewing machine - then, finally, I was able to work on some hot pads.  Don is off for acupuncture treatment and I usually go along but it is too hot to sit outside in the car.

Shirley:  I sent you an email re:  your son and hope and pray he has a correct diagnosis.

Jenny:  How nice that you could have an extended visit - I hope you were able to find fall colors.

Soups on:  Tonight is a chicken vegetable soup with pasta adding around 4:30 PM.  Last night, it was without the pasta with a sourdough bread.   I am looking at a Greek Lemon Soup recipe and remember fondly a wonderful soup in a Greek restaurant.  We have scads of lemons in this area and leeks look great.  The veggies are really nice here.

Jane:  How nice that you had such a great visit - fleeting as it was for your idea.

I took today off. Had a good night, a happy morning, but then things went quiet and I have just stayed home. I did go down to return a book to the library, and picked up a couple of bananas and boxed cereal, then home to read, doze, read and now here. I may go down for supper, or I may not.

Gary and Dori stopped in for a short visit after Church yesterday, but they were eager to get home and out of their Church clothes. I think I need to get out for a short walk, but did want to come in to say "HI". Hugs and Love. June

Good evening to EVERYFRIEND.......I hope you ALL enjoyed a nice Monday.

Bob has been having a bit of pain in his big toe for a couple of days, but this morning he woke up with raging pain.  He called the doctors office to see if he could get in or if they could just call in a script that he was giving a year or so ago for gout.  There was only one PA in the office today and she was over booked....but they would see if she would call in a script.  Never heard another word from them all day.  If we can not get some one to help tomorrow morning we will call Dr. Dave and he will call in a script.  I wish we would have just called him today.  We did soak it in Ebsom Salts a couple of times today, thx to Shirley, and he is taking Alieve, but he is really in pain.

JANE, i am so happy you enjoyed your family this weekend and I understand the empty feelings when they are gone....so a big hug to you.

JUNE, I hope you have a good night of sleep and wake up well rested tomorrow.

CAROL, the colors were all but gone, but no matter what being in Vail is always a treat.

GLORIA de, I guess it has to be Gremlins as I have no one else that explains where our posts go!  If the start of my post is there....where did the rest of it go?

LARRY, it takes awhile to get the large packages re wrapped after our trips to Costco.  I do not mind doing it.

MARYANN, I loved  reading about your old family quilts.....I have a few beautiful ones as well and many knitted ones.....they all are so special to me, but sadly I do not think any of the family will care one thing about them after I am gone.  😢

Thank you, ROLEY, for the video about Westminster Abby....I will watch it again after I finish and 8 will share it with others.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I think I might be back on my regular schedule but I'm sure glad I took Wednesday off, too.  I'll be able to get a few things done that I ignored while I had company.

I have to take the trash to the dumpster and pick up a box of pint jars.  I seem to run out of the pints too soon.  I guess that's the size I give away the most.  My SIL packed up a box of the little ones to send back to me with my Maryland daughter so I have plenty of mustard jars for the upcoming months.

I also want to try again to post the 4 generation picture.  I thought I did all the steps that Cindy taught me but it seems I skipped one and that's why my picture wasn't anywhere to be found for posting.

I also have to get my hair cut this morning.  It's getting out of hand and just wants to lay there flat as a pancake.

I hope you all have a special day....as special as all of you are!

Hi everyone.  We expect to get up into the mid-70's today, which will be nice.  I have a busy schedule on tap as have someone meeting me here at 10 this morning for an hour and then we plan on attending the monthly Senior Luncheon at the Church.  I will come home and rest for a little while and then have an appointment at 3 pm to meet a friend at Panairo's.  Then this evening is our annual Homeowner's Association Meeting.  It is held at our fire station, which is about a half mile from where I live.

Yesterday Pat got on a cooking bent and we now have 3 1/2 quarts of chili for future meals and three more meals of the beef vegetable stew that we enjoyed for our dinner last night.  I had to help her quite a bit in getting things out for the recipes and washing up all of the dishes and pans involved.  Today I think she plans on making apple butter today although that could wait until tomorrow.

I have now fixed Pat's eggs with green onion and bacon bits and cheese, toast and a couple of slices of cantaloupe.

deAngel, those sound like very beautiful quilts made with silks and ties.  I have memories of my mother and grandmother sitting at quilting frames in the church basement hand quilting.  Pat had a couple of quilting frames over the years but we didn't move them here as she has no intention of hand quilting again.  Right now she is making smaller items that she can easily machine quilt and if she makes another bigger quilt she will get someone to quilt it for her with one of the big quilting machines.

Jane, that seemed like a very short time they were there to visit with you but sure they will be back and if I recall you have another trip planned down their way. Glad you have today and tomorrow off work so you can do what you want to do and get back on your schedule.

Carol, we didn't have any sourdough bread to have with our soup/stew last evening and it has been a long time since we have had sourdough bread. I remember who nice the produce and fruit was in Arizona.

June, glad to see your day was good again yesterday.  Nothing wrong with taking a day off and that is what I plan on doing tomorrow as the last few days, including today, have been busy.

Jenny, I have never experienced gout but Pat has and I know how she suffered from it and couldn't stand to put on a shoe.  Fortunately they now have medication to help stop it and hope Bob got the prescription and is feeling better today.  Do you use the stretch wrap that Costco has?  It is the best we have ever had and is so easy to use as has a great cutter on the box with a slide tool to make the cut.  I look for opportunities to use it.  I will lay out several pieces at a time to wrap up the hamburgers or other meats and then can quickly get the meat servings wrapped and into the freezer bags.  It is great and each box has 750 feet of wrap and that lasts a long time.

Amy, hope you find a lot of delicious chocolate items to stock your pantry and just the fabric you want.

Lloyd, hope you enjoy a good day out there is Missouri.

Good morning 39 this AM, no wind but sunny

Larry, I am going to look for that wrap.

Jenny, for the last week my big toe is bright red  and really hurt. Also soaked in Epsom  salts. I cannot even stand the blanket on my toe.  I figured it is either and ingrown toenail or gout. Which I have in the 2nd and third toe. Also have it in one finger. the gout is new in the last few months.  The foot doctor sent me for lab work to prove what it was.

Jenny, I am fortunate that Terry's widow is "into" quilts and in my will I am leaving them to her, in fact, all of my fancywork made by either me or mother and grand-mothers.  I will let her decide as to their dispositions.

Jane, I haven't gone to the photo section yet but I'll be anxious to see your four generation picture.

Another quiet day for me. Body says, "stay home and rest". I reminded body that I must go down for lunch, as I need to get some milk, and I don't want to cook as that means dishes to wash. So I will welcome  another quiet day. It is always a delight to pop in here and read what all the rest of you have planned for the day, if you are having a good day, or not.

Gloria de, I am so very sorry about your toe, and I pray it can be healed painlessly.and if I remember correctly our other Gloria is off to some medical visits today. Gloria, I know you will be tired when you get home, so take a good rest. You and I seem to follow similar health issues.

We are having bland weather but it is supposed to get into the 90's

I just had some more meds delivered...vitamins really... I get six deliveries a day. different meds for different ailments I'm so thankful to have all this service given by younger minds, and all of these young people are so kind and loving.

The body is telling me to go lie down, so I will obey .

Cas suffered with gout for years, tried every medication & diet...  I know he would have a blood test for the uric acid to show it was gout... but when at it's worse, he would take one med that really kicked it.  Has side effects so hated to take too often, but he was not good about diet.  Guess y'all know the main enemy is red meat.... & in Cas' case, every time he drank my Welch's pure grape juice or ate a lot of grapes... it hit.  His excuse was "those things NOt ON tHE LIST"... and I would reply, "YOUR TOE CAN'T READ!"   When you have an attack, think back over what you've eaten the last few days... probably something you've had all your life but all of a sudden, the body rebels.  Do your research & then pay attention to your own body, we are not all alike, for sure. I don't think Epsom salt helps gout, sorry, folks.

Andy had a heart cath today, thankfully his arteries are clear, no need for by-passes or stents, but the doctor says the biggest concern is that a tiny flake of that infection/scar on his valve can come off & cause a stroke.  Surgery set for Friday as long as the infection is still under the numbers.  I remembered overnight that after surgery he won't be able to put a t-shirt over his head & will have to wear button down the front shirts... my husband had to wear them for about a month & naturally we got rid of them long ago.  I told his wife I'd get out to check on them... got to make sure the fabric is soft & type he won't get too hot in.  Poor kid, he got my hot feet & blood & really suffers with clothing that won't "breathe".  I wash anything before taking to a hospital patient so no germs slip in.

Will go check out the family pic, Janie.... seems like a fast trip to me, looks like you might offer to visit when & if they want a vacation.  My daughter is babysitting her grands while parents are enjoying time together in Hawaii.  So neat they can do face whatever, talk & see each other, helps the kids a lot.

Mary Ann, so happy you have someone to cherish the "fancy work" & quilts from your side of the family.  Like I was telling my kids, it may not mean something so special to them but picture their gr-kids taking some of these 100-150 yearl old things for Show & Tell when we are long gone.

My heartbreak about Mother's missing quilt was that she was so excited about finally having it finished and knew she couldn't make up her mind which of us she would leave it to (my sister or me).... My sister is the oldest but has insisted all of her adult life that she is not sentimental....  Mother's other treasure was her grandmother's walnut hutch... made by her son who had become a well known in the area, house builder.  The historical socitety in that county is based in a house he built.  She left me the hutch with the understanding it goes to my daughter. My mother had a special bond with her but did not plan to leave any items to her grands, just to the 5 of us kids & was our responsibility to pass them on to our kids. So the quilt was special without a monitory value to me, but I also realized it could be sold or hocked by anyone devious enough to steal.  I have always regretted that none of us had a good (or any) photo of that quilt.

Another lovely day is drawing to a close. Nothing new here, talked via cell phone with Gary and Dori..all is well with them, thanks be to God. They are out of town, so our Pastor will fill in for Gary at Bible study tomorrow. Gary will do the following two studies to repay Pastors favor.

I am "in" for the rest of the day, will have some left-overs for supper and then just enjoy the peace of reading till sleepy-time arrives.

I pray all, each and every one of you dear, dear Souls will have a peaceful and pain free night. God is always watching over us, and knows exactly where each of His children are, and what they need. We are SO Blessed. Hugs and Love. June

I'm going to be off to Dreamland in a little bit.  I started to get all the stuff together to make veggie soup tomorrow and then can it on Thursday.  I cooked the soup bone today and will leave it in the pot when I start the soup tomorrow.  The broth is canned and all ready to go.  The tomatoes are ready and the veggies that I collected all summer are ready.  It should be an easy trick to put it all together tomorrow.

Cindy texted me to tell me that Emma cut her first tooth on the plane on the way home.  There's probably another one on the way because she was very fussy on the way to Tulsa from Dallas.  I think Ali had a "not too easy" drive home.

I wish you all a peaceful rest and a good day tomorrow.  May God bless us, every one!

ANOTHER day of  W A I T I N G  to hear from the doctors office. At 4 Bob called and the info was still on the PA’s desk waiting for a signature.....so he asked the MA what exactly the prescription is and told her he was going to get his son to write the script as he could wait no longer.  Dr. Dave did call the script in and we picked it up immediately and he is taking it now!  Needless to say I am very upset with our Doctor’s Office.

SHIRLEY, I am so glad to read that Andy’s arteries are clear.  I am sorry he still has to have surgery.  I wil” continue with only the most positive thoughts and saying prayers for the surgery to go well and he can start recovering. Please give him our best wishes.   I did not know if the Epsom Salts would help the gout or not, but I felt it sure could not hurt to try!  We have read all the foods that might set this gout off and we can not find anything that Bob has eaten that might have set it off.....and this is the same thing we have done each time he has had a flare up.

JANE, I look forward to seeing your pictures of your family.

MARYANN, I am sure pleased to read that Terry’s Widow is interested in the beautiful quilts...that must make you smile....it sure would be a blessing to me if one of the sons or dil’s would show interest.

LARRY, I do use the stretch wrap from Costco to wrap food for freezing.  I am sorry that Pat deals with gout also.  I have never had it either, but it is very dilbilatating.

GLORIA de, from what you describe it sure sounds like gout in your toe to me.  From what we have been able to find out it is very serious to not treat it as soon as possible.

I must head off to bed......pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone..

We had a fantastic day yesterday...…..we did have a bit of excitement on our way to the quilt store though. I had pulled into an wee park to let Babe out for a walk about and hubby pointed to steam coming out from under the hood. Changed directions and headed to the place we bought the van, man was confident that it is because of the fog/dampness in the air. First time that has happened. We carried on but just to the quilt store as we had lost some time.

Picked up what was needed at Costco for the neighbour and I found a few things on sale too!

Came home to a surprise!! Someone had raked up our pine needles and leaves???? We thought maybe it was the neighbour on the right of us but he said no....so I will ask the neighour on the left today.

This morning we are taking the van in to get the snows put on...don't like leaving it to the last moment.

Shirley ,glad to hear Andy had some good news and keeping the him in prayers for the surgery.

Better get a move on here need to be out the door...but not in my nightgown!!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning !

Not yet daylight here in my little corner.  I have been up since 5:30 and have breakfast, put the trash out and I am thinking about going back to bed for a little while.  That would probably be a mistake, but just might.  I do not have anything planned for today.

Amy,  I am glad your car problem wasn't anything worse than what it was.

Shirley, I, too, hope all will turn out well for your son.  I don't blame you for being very upset,

Jenny, glad that your husband was able to get the medicine that he needed.  I can understand your frustration with your doctor.

I just wanted to say good morning, so I will now go and debate whether I go back to bed or not. LOL

Have a good day.

JOY

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It was below freezing overnight and only supposed to get to the mid to high 40s all day.  Good SOUP weather!  I better get moving!

I have the soup bone back on the stove and as soon as the doggies are fed and I'm dressed, I'll start building it.  It's a labor of love because my "daddy" is in the kitchen with me when I do this.  He was the veggie soup maker in our family and while my family admits that mine is REALLY good, they maintain that "It's not as good as Daddy Wright's"  I guess I'll never make that spot.

SHIRLEY, I forgot to say that I will continue to keep ANDY? in my prayers until you tell me he doesn't need them any more.

Now I'm going to go get my coffee and then get dressed and make the bed while I drink it.  I wonder how it feels to just sit down and have a cup of coffee with nothing else needing attention?

Enjoy your day Everyfriend and come over for soup around 6.  Somebody better bring the crackers, though.  I don't have any and I'm not going to the store today.  I do have a loaf of zucchini bread in the freezer for dessert....Ice cream too.

Good morning everyone, well my appointments are over for the rest of the year I hope. Next one is in March. None in the winter. Too many posts to catch up on so this will be short. I am worn out after being out for 2 days in a row. I will not let that happen again. CNA will be here soon and if I don't get dressed she will think I am either very lazy or sick. I would rather just lay on the couch with the TV on and as JANE says -"watch through my eyelids"
Have a great day.

Hi Everyone.  It is going to be a beautiful day and hopefully pretty quiet one.  The high is suppose to be around 72 degrees with sun all day.  The only thing on my schedule as of now for today is to fix Pat's breakfast and then this evening we will go to the Church for the Wednesday night dinner.  This is Taco Bar and Ice Cream Bar night for our dinner and who could want more.  Scott starts his week's vacation today and will be off for 8 days.  He has really been looking forward to it.  He will join us for dinner and then expect he will come out to the house for awhile.  The activities of the last few days finally caught up with me and I was very tired last night when I got home from the Homeowner's Association Meeting.  It was pretty well attended and most of the discussion dealt with the landscaping as the landscaper was at the meeting.  The good news was that there will be no increase in our fees for 2019.  They haven't increased all the time we have lived here.  The meeting I had planned yesterday for 3 pm at Paneria Bread Company was cancelled and that gave me more time to rest yesterday afternoon when we came back from our Senior Luncheon.

The man who is going to pressure wash my house and do a few minor repairs and maintenance projects just stopped by and we agreed on a price.  He has done work for us before.

Jane, I will check out your picture.  I can slant my head.  To bad you didn't get to see Emma cut her first tooth.

deAngel, that stretch wrap is so easy to use that I look for occasions to use it.  I sure didn't do that with Sarah Wrap and the other plastic wraps.  I hope you get some relief from that toe and finger pain.

Mary Ann, glad you have someone who wants your quilts and fancywork.  Unfortunately we had to sell my mother's linens and fancywork.  She did not make quilts so that wasn't a problem.  Pat took a few things but not many.

June, I like your reason for not wanting to cook.  I am now doing almost all of the cleanup and do wash quite a few things by hand, especially larger things and plastic ware.

Shirley, I never thought about "toes reading".  That was a good response.  That is certainly good news that Andy had from his heart cath.  Glad they are doing the preventive surgery and hope it will eliminate the risk of a stroke.

Jenny, glad Bob finally got the prescription he needs and hope he will quickly feel better.  Fortunately it has now been quite a while since Pat had to deal with the gout and think she has some of that medication left.

Amy, glad your vehicle didn't actually have a problem.  Too bad you had to bypass the chocolate store.

Gloria, glad your appointments are over for you and hope you don't have to have any more during the winter months.  Pat and I have finished our appointments for this year and it is a nice feeling.

Roley, I got started on the link you posted yesterday.  It is really long so probably won't try to watch the whole thing.

While I was typing on this board we had a momentary power outage but when the computer rebooted and I reloaded the Firefox browser it restored everything back to where I had been typing when we lost power.  That is a very nice feature as figured I had lost all that I had posted.

I just got back from the hospital & will "dump" on you... can't talk to anyone with tears in my throat.  They are taking him to PREP for surgery first thing in the morning... this evening.  I think they would have done it today except not allowed until 5 days of infection being in the numbers.  They had to put him on lasiz because of fluid in lungs (from my daughter).. or around his heart.  He does not look good & the room was crowded with visitors so I didn't stay but a few minutes.  I know he loves having his daughter, her husband & his grands... and his sister there, but too much activity for someone not supposed to be moving much.  My daughter is seeing that he walks down the hall every hour... but at this stage, bringing the little ones in is not good for him, my opinion..... everyone is so shocked with this.  He was surprised about needing to wear button front shirts (you understand, Larry) after having the chest opened... but okayed a soft flannel shirt that I will wash before he wears, & will go shopping at other stores tomorrow.  He is hot natured but hard to find short sleeved shirts this time of year & I don't want to order because they need to be soft & 100% cotton for him.  Sorry about my one track mind today.... this is not something anyone expected... he never admitted to ever being sick all his life & is everyone's rock, family, friends & neighbors.  Anyone with a second to pray, ask God to help him, "thy will be done", but we'd really like to keep him longer if HE doesn't mind.  Thanks, Shirley

Shirley, if you can't find short sleeved ones get the long sleeves and cut them off. My son is the same way ,very hot even in winter. When he was a baby he would soak the bedding just from sweat.

Is there a health store near you that sells  special clothing for those needing it?

I agree with you on all the company, he needs his rest to gain strength for what is to come and he doesn't need someone bringing in a cold etc.

Prayers headed his way and for you also. I believe he is like him Mom, tenacious and will pull through all of this.

SHIRLEY, you can count on me for prayers. I'm adding him to the prayer list at church. That should be worth about 225 more prayers. God has to hear us. Prayers for you too. Take deep breaths. If I could I'd bring you some soup. It's good and it's relaxing.

Thank you, Amy & Janie.... my daughter just stopped by for a cup of tea before she picks up her grands at 3 different schools. She is worn to a frazzle but we all understand how rattled we are at this sudden life & death situation.  She explained that we both misunderstood the time frame... he will be taken to the prep room tomorrow evening because they cannot do surgery until Friday (no matter what). Daughter & I both thinking this was Thursday.

They have ruled out the infection from his teeth or mouth or normal places this type infection starts from.... but NOW we are convinced the doctor that did the cath & hopefully the surgeon will check out his leg as the culprit.... My daughter was hoping the cardiac crew would request/demand ALL of his records be sent over, we will see.  The main reason this is so important is they want to make sure the original infection is taken care of so it doesn't infect the NEW pig valve.  Isn't this a nightmare for a 58 year "healthy" man?  He is anemic now, they are told that is "sort of normal"... but never had been because he donates blood as often as possible. Thank goodness he's been able to talk to his sister "one on one" because he always worshiped the ground she walked on (she is 5 years older) & will talk to her about anything. I am sure this group of doctors will do everything possible, but the fear is it may be too late for them to fix him. The fluid is collecting in his lungs.....

About the shirt problem, I only went to one store & found a nice, soft flannel shirt.... will see if he wants the sleeves cut off or just roll them up.  I looked on Amazon & a couple stores online (Penney's , Dillards & Kohl's) & read reviews that "sizes are not accurate" or "the cotton feels more like linen", so I will start by calling the local stores to see if they have any Hawaiian type shirts (the collars lay flatter rather than raised to irritate the back of his head)....and I will go touch them.  He won't need them for a few days after surgery so time to get what is comfy.  I do have sewing machines & have cut off sleeves before, for myself.  Thanks for the reminder, this kid used to sweat when drinking a bottle as a baby ... even would get salt in his eyebrows.  We have such hot feet when we take off shoes & walk across the floor we leave wet prints.

Thanks, Larry, I know you have been through all of this & can relate.... I did think the leg infection must have gone on for 3 years but was afraid it might sound like I exaggerated.... my daughter also thought it's been 3 years & many, many trips to that "family" doctor.  I could never understand why he wasn't sent to a blood specialist at that time.  Deep breath... I am rattled, no question, being angry takes a toll on one, so need to calm down.

I decided to make the vegetable soup today so I could avoid thinking how far away some of my family is.  When we're together and then we part, it hurts and I try to have something to do that takes most of my attention so I don't have to think about missing them.  Today it's vegetable soup.

SHIRLEY, I'd bring you some and listen if I lived down the street.  Remember, we're here and we care.

Shirley, my prayers go out t0 you and the family. It is extra hard to have things go so bad for those younger than we are.May God strengthen you all in the days to come.

I saw my doctor today, a regular monthly visit...she comes here, and has quite a few of us as regular patients. I said to her, "why are all these strange things happening to me ?
she replied with a big grin,"because you are 93 years old." Hmmmmm  next time she visits I will be two days away from being 94......God willing. She cleaned my ears of wax today..one ear that is, the other was fine. I  really like her..I can discuss all issues with her so easily.

Living in a retirement community I find so many brave souls that have accepted their disabilities and it is encouraging to the rest of us. I often think of one of our blessed Episcopal Nuns that was bed ridden after a good life. She said, "being bed ridden gives me more opportunity to pray for others." I love that.

I think I had better close this and go fix a light supper..time passes too quickly. Hugs, Love, and Prayers and may God grant you a peaceful night.  June

Thank you, Mary Ann.... strange how it is comforting to "tell all" to people I've never met ... but you aren't strangers, we know about each others families, the ups & downs.

And thank you, June, my heart ached for you all these years knowing you had lost your only daughter, but knowing you, I feel sure you know she is right there in Heaven with God and you will see her again one day.  In my world that is how it is, God's will.  So far this appears to be a human's mistake that brought this on, so we have to do what we can to correct it.  Such a fine line between accepting and being angry that because of either neglect or ignorance, lives are changed forever.

Jane, sure wish you did live down the street. I think all of us in here know more about each other than most of our neighbors.  I keep meaning to ask if there is a chance "the kids" would move nearer you at some point..... My grand that lives in Seattle is discovering how much they miss out on with all the other family living around here.  They both work for the same company and that company has no "presence" here anymore, so doubt they would be moving back. When we first moved to Wichita a new neighbor told me "they had always planned to move back to another state, where she & her husband grew up... BUT they didn't move when the kids were young enough and where ever kids go to high school is going to "home" to them."  I know other families that moved so many times as the kids grew up, the kids had no roots or place they felt like was home.

We have tomorrow & Friday to hold our breath, if nothing worse happens I believe he will come through okay.  I was much more at peace when I thought I didn't have a chance to survive surgery, but I was 78 and not 58. His whole body checks out in great shape, only this infection that they still don't know for sure where it comes from, but these doctors had not even heard about the infected leg until today.  Thank you all for understanding, I know each of you have dealt with situations much like this and I am grateful for the concern, prayers and advice.   Shirley

SHIRLEY, your message tonight certainly shows your concerns for Andy, and what he is facing.  Please know that he, as well as you and the family, are ALL on my prayer list.  I believe our prayers do help so much.  I wish you were close enough to be able to give you a real hug and tell you how much I care, but that is not possible.  🙏

We spent all morning reading the issues that we need to be aware of so that we could cast our votes.  What a task, but the job is done and we happily drop our ballots off this afternoon.

Tonight at nearly six PM our Dr. called......finally.  He was aware that Dr. Dave did prescribe the medication for Bob yesterday.  He did not mention anything else about our calls to his office.  He wanted to add another drug for Bob to take that is to help reduce the uric acid in his system.  We went immediately to the pharmacy and picked uo this new pill.  Bob is doing better to night, but he still has swelling and redness in his toe.  Hope these two drugs can kick this gout out of his system.

Snow and cold weather is in store for our area next Wednesday for Halloween......bummer!

ROLY, I have watched both of your videos and thank you so much for sharing this with us.

I am nodding off, so best get this posted now before I do something like loose it!

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Hi Everyone.  It is a cool morning here in South Carolina and is suppose to be cloudy all day with a high of 64.  Since this is Thursday I will be picking up my friend at the assisted living facility and we will go downtown for coffee.  Either before or after coffee I have to pick up a couple of prescriptions for Pat at the Walmart Pharmacy.  Today is our son's 55th birthday and he didn't want to go to a nice restaurant as we have done in the past but elected to go to Diablo's.  He has started his week's vacation and he may join me at coffee this morning as I told him I would buy his breakfast.

We did enjoy the Taco Bar and Ice Cream Bar at our dinner last night.  We had all the trimmings one would want with both.  Yesterday I sent off our absentee ballots so that is done for this election cycle.

Shirley, I know this will be a long day for Andy and for you and all of the family. I will certainly be praying for a successful surgery and recovery.  It is nice to have visitors while in the hospital but only if they stay only for a short visit.  Unfortunately that is not always the case and you feel like you have to keep a conversation going.  At least with family they hopefully better understand when you just need to rest of be quiet. The old rules about visiting hours really made a lot of sense.  I am glad you feel comfortable in sharing with us as many of us certainly understand the feeling of helplessness that we as parents have when a spouse or child are ill.  I do remember having my chest opened up twice and also the surprise I felt that it wasn't as painful as I expected, not that it was a cakewalk.  I found resting my arms on pillows helped take the strain off the chest.  Andy is in God's hands as you know and he does come from strong stock in his parents. Please don't let this worry you sick as the you all have enough on your plate and your getting sick certainly wouldn't be of any help for Andy.

Amy, our son is also very hot all the time as Pat seems to be.  I am just the opposite and seldom sweat.

Jane, our son was elated yesterday afternoon and evening when for the first time he was able to video chat with his granddaughter and spend a lot of time with the seven year old who was having a great time with some of the fun tools and games available in the Messenger Video Chat program.  He did get to speak briefly with one of the other grandsons but not the 16 year old grandson. We also got to see a couple of the great grands and should be able to do so in the future. Do you do this with your family that lives away so you can keep up with Emma and your granddaughter and daughter?

June, is is nice you can see the doctor monthly without having to get in a vehicle and go to see her.  I think acceptance is a big part of maintaining our serenity and outlook on life.

Jenny, glad to read that Bob is seeing some relief from the medicine and hopefully that pain will soon be a fading memory.  The little kids last night came to the Church dinner wearing their Halloween costumes and were so cute.

Lloyd, sorry to read of the theft of your brother's  property. I was always concerned that my folks would be robbed and my dad's well equipped shop be a target when they spent the 7 winters away in Arizona for several months.  Fortunately that never happened even though the farm was isolated.

Amy, I bet that wood fire is feeling pretty good now.  Did you get your snow tires on your vehicle yesterday as planned?

Good Morning Everyfriend.  This is going to be "come and go" this morning.  I have the balance of the soup heating and jars in the canner getting hot, lids in the pot etc.

Yesterday I canned 7 quarts and 10 pints of vegetable soup.  Today will probably be pretty close to that amount and I'm hoping to finish today.  5 quarts go to the soup sale at the church (I belong to the "Golden Ladle club") and about 10 pints go to the "Hungry Student donation" at the college.  Some will go to my family and the rest I'll eat through the winter.

Shirley, they might have been a possibility of the kids moving east at one time but with Ali married to a lawyer who worked for two years on his own and then went home to Tulsa to join his father's firm, there's no possibility of Ali every moving east.  And if the baby stays in OK, so will my daughter.  In fact, my SIL retired last year and they've already looked at two houses in the Tulsa area.  I don't have a hope of their ever moving back.  However, their second daughter seems to be established in a job she loves at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore so visits will be forthcoming.

Gotta check the soup.  It should soon be hot enough to put into jars.  Enjoy your day, if you can.  Everyone, Pray for Shirley and her son.  I know, I know!  I don't have to tell you that!

Added note:  LARRY, I'm not familiar with that program but I plan to check it out.  Emma's not big enough to talk to me yet but I'm betting Cindy will have a way to do that and very soon! Thanks.

Good morning everyone, hope I have no reason to go anywhere for a few weeks now. Then yesterday my CNA and I made chicken stock to put in the freezer and I was on my feet too long, not smart for me. Today I will do nothing but be a couch potato but had to check in here so you know I am OK. For a change the sun is shining and the sky is blue and no humidity so hoping my back does not hurt as much. Enough about me. I dislike complainers and I find myself complaining, sorry.

LARRY  my next appointment is the end of March. At least I hope by then there is no snow but never can plan on that.

SHIRLEY  my prayers for your son. I imagine how you are feeling, no one wants to see their child so ill. Prayers for you and your family, too. I will agree, too many people when he needs rest.

LLOYD so sorry about the break in. Looks like they knew what they wanted.

Have a good day.

The last 8 pints of Vegetable Soup are waiting to come out of the canner.  Everything is cleaned up and put away and the canner will be back in it's place in the next hour.

I had some leftover soup that wouldn't make a cannerful so I put it in the Hidey Hole for anyone who likes Veggie soup.

This afternoon, I have to take the trash to the dumpster, deliver a jar of soup to my son, return some jars I don't need and get some I do need.  And somewhere along the way, I'm planning a nap.

Gloria, I hope you feel better.  Gotta tell you, when I make chicken stock for soup or other things, I put a whole chicken in the crockpot over night and then it just falls off the bones in the morning.  Not much work at all.  You could do that when your CNA is coming the next day and let her pick it off for you.  NO WORK for you!  If I want it for soup, I add about 4 cups of water and I have the best broth you ever tasted.  You can add whatever flavoring or spices that you want.

Waiting to hear from SHIRLEY again.

Mmmm , your soup smells and tastes great Jane, is this done in  a pressure canner or the electric canner?  I will put some Sour Cream coffee cake in the hidey hole with your soup. We just had a slice , it was nice and hot

Larry, I did get the snows on..and just in time too I think. They are calling for snow Sun, Mon and Tue.  I don't know about everyone else here but I for one think you are fantastic in all that you do. You make my mouth water when you put together Pat's breakfast. We have the wood fire  all the time now and it does feel good.

Gloria, hope you feel better tomorrow. You have earned your couch potato position for today.

We picked up 10 big leaf bags  of pine needles and leaves this morning ,we will take them to the dump in the morning.

Going to have pork schnitzel for supper along with backed potato and veggies......better get things ready..

Andy update....... My daughter & Andy's daughter were in the room when "doctors convened" with the discussion that surgery is put off until Monday (not sure why but think it was a doctor problem)... 3 doctors, infectious disease person, cardio & that family doctor (guess a female).  She spouted off right away that he could go home.... my daughter's mouth dropped.... the infectious disease person said, "NO WAY" and the cardio tried being tactful in front of the family doctor, explained that "he was free to go home, but if he had a stroke at home he likely couldn't get to the hospital in time but if it happened while he is in the hospital, they could do what they can right then".  There was no choice about it for his sister & daughter.... and as soon as the room cleared my daughter said she looked Andy in the eye & announced, "YOU HAVE GOT TO GET A NEW DOCTOR!"   That is a big relief to me, I've only been saying it for at least 3 years.

I found him 4 button down the front short sleeve shirts, they all approved so I will get them washed & ironed before he is ready for "street clothes"   He has discovered it makes his grands & friends smile when he comes out in wild shirts.... perfect for Hawaii or FL & no doubt he will be ready to dump them when he can lift his arms over his head.  I reminded all that "Pollyanna says this delay is a good thing, more time for the antibiotics to work".... and I came home.  I have things to do besides feeding cats again & again...  Unless there are major changes, I will not monopolise monopolize conversation until next Monday .... thank you all for your caring & prayers.  Unless you've been on the receiving end of this, you can't imagine what a relief it is to get tips & advice to get through.

Jane, I regret I never learned how to can.... I tried once with a neighbor's canner & recipe for "chow-chow".... had an emergency so had to turn it off for a while & back on as soon as I got home, didn't trust that it was safe to eat & dumped each jar back into the garden to till under.  I tried one more time to cook the chow-chow & put in containers & jars to freeze and share with my siblings (same recipe we grew up with).... Not sure if they enjoyed so that ended my suzy homemaker stint. I do freeze soup & mine never comes out the same, would love to taste yours.

Gloria, so sorry there doesn't seem to be any relief from that pain.  Sometimes it helps to yell so have at it, we don't mind.

Jenny, do hope that gout is better.  We really could nail down what Cas was eating that would trigger... but he loved grapes & my grape juice & refused to believe his system didn't like it.  I tried to reason with him that just because he could dring orange juice didn't mean I could.  Once a year when oranges were picked fairly ripe I could eat them.  I could tell by the first bite whether it was safe... would taste like putting my tongue on metal... If I ate it or drank the juice my tongue would have sores all over by the next day.  I've given many a bag of oranges away because it sounded so good, but that first bite said "NO".  Always thought it would be wonderful to step out the door & pick a ripe orange.... yum....  Good luck singling out the culprit.

You are so right, Larry, would not be good for me to crash right now.... The house looks like a disaster, have a pool & RV to get winterized soon.... and lots of other extras from seasons changing.  I need to find help to keep up with this house. Guess I'll admit that for several days this week I pulled an Erma Bombeck trick... "got out the vacuum & left it in the hall so anyone showing up would think they caught me working"....  I loved her writings & always thought she had to live in my neighborhood & writing about me.  After I discovered a skirt I made for my daughter in the sewing room still unhemmed, & too small.... Erma mentioned it in one of her columns.... true.

So where is Callie now?  I'll say it for her, "Wishing y'all a terrific Thursday"..... Thanks for the prayers!  Shirley

Me, too, Amy, mouth waters when Larry fixes Pat's breakfast.  You think she knows how lucky she is???  You are one good guy, Larry.  Slide me over a piece of that coffee cake, Amy, one of my favorite foods.

Shirley I agree with NO WAY!  I wonder if the Dr if the Dr would go home if they were in the same position as your son?? I know that "bounced" my neighbours  93 yr old Mom back and forth in the ambulance till they finally got the problem fixed. (I hope)

Waiting till Mon, does give him time to get more strength as long as he can rest while there..

One of the things the Dr told me was to get a bed sheet tie it in a long rope and tie at the end of the bed for the patient to get out of bed. That did not work! Rolling out or rolling in worked....

Just want to add my good wishes and prayers for Shirley's son.   I know how difficult a situation like that can be, not only on the patient, but the whole family.  Have been down that road before. But, it sounds like more rest will be good for him.  As far as having so many visitors,  I would just very politely tell those who continue to stay, that you appreciate their  concern, but the patient really needs to rest.

This has been a kind of busy day, so just wanted to say Hello and hope everyone will have a good evening.

SHIRLEY, thanks for the update!  I'm with everyone else...he needs to rest, not visit.  I cannot believe someone said he could go home!  What an idiot!  Please, keep us updated.  We need to hear and you need to express!

Everything is put away except the finished jars of soup.  I like to keep them in sight for a couple of days to remind me why I'm tired and what I'll be eating on that windy, snowy day in January.

AMY, I do the soup in the pressure canner because of the beef broth in it.  I'm sure you know that you can't trust meat in any way shape or form to water bath.  I still have to exert some elbow grease on the stove top.  It's clean but some stuff burned and I need to get to work and get it off.

You've all heard the expression "if it's not one thing, it's another"?  Well, I woke up from my short nap to find the furnace running because the thermostat was flashing "replace battery".  I don't have a clue how to replace the battery or even what kind of battery it uses or how to get it off the wall to find out.  And, like every other emergency, the office is closed.  And even it it were open, I still couldn't run to the store for a battery.  It's dark out there and around this house, we don't drive in the dark.  So hopefully, it will be alright until tomorrow when I get home from work...hopefully, with battery in hand!

I guess I can't complain.  That thermostat is at least 7 years old and has never had a battery replacement!

Shirley, I had a head start on canning.  I used to help my mother from the time I could help and not hinder.  I'm a kitchen person.  I think I should have been a cook in a restaurant or some such thing.  It's my form of relaxation.  But it would have to be one of those restaurants like Alice and Flo worked in.  I'm not a fancy cook!  Bet Larry could outshine me!

Gonna go look at the finished product again and them start thinking about going to bed early.  Tomorrow's a WM day!  Good night my friends! Hope you ALL have a good tomorrow...ESPECIALLY ANDY!

Has anyone heard how Pat Scott Halbeck (sp??) is doing?  I think someone mentioned she was in the hospital (some time ago) and was wondering if in Canada or the US.  Bless her heart, she has had a time these last few years.

Jane, I was getting the "beep-beep" of the smoke alarm battery this week.... would you believe I couldn't tell which one ... all day.  Had 2 spare 9V batteries by the security alarm thingy because that had gone off days before & now I don't remember which was the bad one... just a few steps down the hall to the bedrooms is one smoke alarm & down the other hall to the garage another smoke alarm.  Every time it would beep I'd run up & down the hall to confirm which one, I never considered the thermostat on the wall opposite one smoke alarm.  Good luck ... guess I need to check mine out, for sure not been replaced for more than 5 years.

Jane, if you take off the front of the thermostat, you may find a AA battery in there and all you have to do is take out the old battery and replace it with a new one - that is, assuming you have a battery.  We try to have a few AA and AAA batteries around because those are what most things require.  I've done it many times to two thermostats (had the furnace replaced and got a new furnace control).  It isn't the thermostat that's old, it's the battery.

Thanks, MARY ANN.  The technician did call me back and that's exactly what he said.  He also offered to come over and do it but I'm sure he'd be expensive at this time of night.  I tried taking it off and I can get the top off or the bottom.  They don't come at the say time.  I'll try again in the morning.  I don't think I'll freeze to death over night.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Last night a guy called me back from the service company about the thermostat.  He told me not to be afraid to exert some energy to pull the cover off.  I tried and I gave up last night an went to bed.  This morning, I got it off and amazingly I had two triple A batteries.  I put them in and replaced the cover and nothing happened.  So I'm waiting for 8 o'clock to call again.  My house that is in need of insulation, is cold this morning.  I hope they can tell me what to do because I have to go to work and I don't like leaving the doggies in the cold.

I never even knew there were batteries in the thermostat.  I guess I learned something new yesterday.  It would have been nice if I'd learned it BEFORE it became an emergency.

I hope all of you have a better day than mine has begun to be!

Good morning everyone...

Almost coat wearing time 28 ° at the moment. We are taking all the bags of pine needles and leaves to the dump this morning and then I am going to clean out the eaves when we get back.

Jane, thank you for explaining that. Hope you find a way to get the front plate off the thermostat to put the battery in.  I picked up some chicken legs yesterday $1.00 a lb. and will cook most of them up for the dogs and hold back a couple for us for supper.   We prefer the dark meat on poultry.

Joy, I agree with you...he does need his rest. Happy to see your are feeling a lot better now.

Gloria, I hope your back is feeling better and you are not complaining one bit. I picked up some apples the other day to make more pies, Spys, Wealthy's, Mitsue  and Cortlands for a variety.

I had better put an egg in my boot and beat it.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Jane, this may be a stupid question, but did you put the batteries in the right direction?  You know there is a positive and negative end to them and if you put them in backwards, nothing will work.

Just want to say Good Morning to all the early friends and all who come in later.

The days are really beginning to get chilly, especially in the mornings.  I usually push the thermostat up just to take the chill off.  And, it stays pretty warm most of the day.  Didn't have to do that this morning.  Seems we might have a few warmer days, but rain is on the way.

Nothing special going on in my neck of the woods.  Probably will be a rainy week end.

I am planning on making a trip down to our library here in the building.  I have finished all the books that I bought up a couple weeks ago.  I have ordered a sequel to one of the books I had gotten by Debbie Macomber.  Hopefully. it will come this week end.  I don't usually buy new books, as I have had real good luck in buying used books from Amazon.  Usually, the postage is more than the book.  I have never received a book that wasn't in good condition.

I, especially  like books by Debbie Macomber,   Robyn Carr and Sheryl Woods.  All write really nice stories.  I have lots of books  on my Kindle, but I still like the idea of "holding a real book".

Hope everyone will have a great day.

Good morning everyone, no sun today and getting ready for a nor'easter this week end. Just heard on the weather about this time last year we had one that caused a lot of damage and power  outage. Earlier this week a storm with some tornadoes  and not far from. I slept good last night and feel better today.

JANE  my crockpot is in the closet and I cannot get it out. I know I could have let my CNA do all the work but I just cannot sit and let someone do my job. She keeps scolding me, too.

AMY  I was a couch potato yesterday, was in my nightgown and robe all day. It was a good day to get out in the sunshine but I did not have the energy for it.

SHIRLEY  it took me 10 years to find a new doctor. That one I swear got his diploma from a catalog. I have no recipe for soups I make and they always taste a bit different. Prayers for Andy and all the family. Family has to think of him needing rest, they keep after patients enough that they do not rest much in a hospital as it is.

AMY  like you I like a blend of apples for pies and applesauce. Tastes better. Next week with my CNA hope to make a pie. Right now I have some Cortlands, Empires and Granny Smiths. My son picked some at a big orchard in Conn.

Have a good day

Gloria, do you want to use your crockpot - or not?  If you can't get it out of the closet, you're going to have to let your CNA get it, or have a family member get it.  You cannot use it if it stays in the closet!  I have found that if I can't reach "whatever" (and I can reach hardly anything these days), I have to ask Tom to get it and he does - willingly!

It's 45 degrees here today and we may get some rain.  We haven't had any snow yet but I am sure it will not be long.  I'm waiting for Lake Michigan to start freezing and that probably will not be until after the first of the year.  I wish there would be wind to make some formations on the lake.  In late years the lake has been rather smooth in the winter with snow on top of the ice.

Hi Everyone.  It is a damp and chilly morning here with a few showers predicted throughout the day.  I just got back from meeting a friend at a restaurant for breakfast.  It was most enjoyable but I didn't care for the dish I ordered so only ate a bit of it and when I got home I had my usual breakfast.  I plan on a very quiet rest of the day.  Scott plans on coming out late this afternoon and is going to fix our dinner for this evening and spend the evening with us.  We did celebrate his birthday yesterday afternoon late with a meal at Diablo's and then he came out and spent the evening with us.

Jane, you do make big batches of soup.  You are going to have some good eating later this winter as well as now.  I see you plan on giving quite a bit of it away and I bet your soup is in demand.  Do you put your name on the jars?  If you use Facebook you may well have the Messenger program already available to you.  I don't remember ever putting in on my computer as a separate item.  My son had another enjoyable chat on it with his granddaughter last evening and is able to see he as they talk.  Jane, you jest is suggesting I could outshine you in the kitchen--no way.  I have to ask Pat questions all the time.  She started to make apple butter yesterday and got the apples cooked down and then put through the colander and that was almost too much for her so we put that and the juice in the refrigerator and she will finish it up in the crock pot today.

Shirley, I had a brief reply from Pat Scott Halback just this morning which indicated she was out of rehab and said she didn't have access to wi-fi while there.  Earlier I had seen a posting on Facebook from her saying she had walked 80 yards while still in the hospital.  Hopefully she is recovering well this time since having to redo the one hip replacement.  She is in Canada as that is where her health insurance is.  Just yesterday afternoon as I was resting I heard one of the 7 fire alarms start to beep and had a really hard time finding which one is was.  I had replaced the battery in one of them just a couple of months ago so was sure it wasn't that one.  But after changing the batteries in all of the other six and still hearing the beep knew it had to be that one, which was upstairs in Pat's sewing room.  As a result I got all seven of the batteries changed, which needed to be done.

Gloria, I do hope yesterday found you feeling better.  My wife used the TENS unit she got a few days ago last evening on her sore neck and felt it helped and is going to us it on her lower back later today.  Our son helped her set it all set up and learn how to use it.  I don't read what you say as complaining as it is what you are experiencing and that is a big part of what our discussions are about.

Amy, the last three mornings Pat has had a slice of whole grain bread spread with the bacon bits we get at Costco that are already cooked with a slice of shart cheddar cheese on it and then put into the toaster oven.  That with her strawberries seem to make a good meal for her and is easy for me to put together.  Very often I make her eggs with the bacon bits, green onions chopped and cheddar cheese.  Sometimes I put a tablespoon of salsa on it or use frozen diced peppers and white onions.  I am getting pretty good at fixing eggs now and not always scrambling them as I did for a long time.  I didn't understand the tieing the bed sheet at the end of the bed.  Was that to help sitting up in bed?

Shirley, glad your son didn't go home and it sure sounds like he needs a new GP.  Glad the other doctors were in the room.  At least you know he is where he needs to be until the surgery is performed and hopefully the infection is more under control.  I have always thought that one of the nice things about soups is that they seldom turn out exactly like a previous batch, at Pat hasn't cooked that way over the years and has often said enjoy it as it won't taste the same again and she is usually right.  Nothing wrong with the Erma Bombeck trick as long as it doesn't sit there so long it gets dusty!  I am happy to fix Pat's breakfast and it is the first I have cooked since we have been married.

Gloria and Mary Ann, I can get my crockpot out of the bottom of the counter, takes a little effort.  Now I have trouble putting it back under the counter, need to have help. It is only a two person crock pot.

For the two Glorias - Tom does have the main appliances where I can reach them.  He also put the salad plates on the lower shelf of the cupboard because that is the size I use most when I'm getting my own meals.  Where I have trouble is with casserole dishes in or out of the microwave.  I need two hands and my right arm will not raise high enough to help my left arm.  I am going to order a counter-top microwave but I haven't gotten to it yet.  My microwave cooking is limited to heating water for coffee and warming something up on a salad plate.  I might actually make something if I get a counter-top microwave.  When he is home, Tom does the cooking.

JaneS,  loved the pictures and stories about Emma's visit.  The "first tooth" story will be a good memoir through the years - kinda like my #2 son losing his first tooth in the middle of the Eisenhower tunnel under Loveland Pass in Colorado.

Finally having some nice Fall weather in central Oklahoma.  Not all the leaves have turned but the trees with bright red ones are gorgeous.

Gloria de, thanks for telling me about the chicken recipes.  I'm not getting a fancy one, however, I will get one that has wattage similar to what my over-the-range microwave has because when I do eat a frozen dinner, most are for ovens of 1100 watts.  The oven I have chosen is not expensive.

Hello Everyfriend!  Today was a kind of hard day.  I didn't realize it when I went into work but they had me scheduled for 5 hours instead of 4.  I could have left at the end of 4 because that's what my availability says but I stuck it out.  We were so busy today that they needed everyone they had!  I didn't do much of anything else after I came home!

MARYANN and everyone else....my son stopped over before he opened his store this morning and did some manipulations with the thermostat and got it working.  So I didn't have to pay for a service call.  And it was nice and cozy when I came home from work.

LARRY, I guess I won't check any more on that program because I shut down my facebook after I got hacked a year or so back.  Thanks for letting me know.

I'm off to Dreamland.  I wish you all a good night and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

I have been thinking about SHIRLEY and Andy all day long.  I certainly hope all is going well for him.  Continued thoughts and prayers.

We had new recliners delivered this morning.  They had to be brought into the house and put together, so Brian came over to help Bob.  So far we are happy with them, but they are a bit different so it will take some adjusting to get used to them.

We have our oldest Grandson Matt and Granddaughter Kate here with us tonight.  They did not want to go to Vail for the night, so they asked to stay with us.  They all will go to the Air Force game tomorrow night so mom and dad will pick them up around noon tomorrow.

Bob is doing better each day with his gout.  We sure are glad he got on the meds when he did as he sure was miserable.

LOL, CALLIE, at your #2 son loosing his first tooth while in Eisenhower Tunnel.  Not everyone can remember that event and where they were.

LARRY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to Scott.  Nice that you were able to celebrate his day with a nice meal at Diablos, AND get to spend tonight with him again with him fixing the meal for you and Pat.

JANE, I sure hope you were able to get the batteries replaced in your thermostat today.

JOY, I feel like you in that I still prefer holding a book and turning the pages rather than reading on a Kindle or my iPad.

AMY, I am chuckling at your comments, “put a egg in your boot and beat it”!  That is a new one to me.....but I like it!  We sure have been hearing a lot about Canada passing the law of legalizing marijuana country wide! I am sure the reason is because Colorado is one of the States that have legalized it here in the US.

I must away.....have a great night....pleasant dreams to all.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We have a rainy one today but it's not as cold as it's been....only in the mid 40s and will hit the mid 50s for a high.

JENNY, I heard you the first time!  ;D  Just to let you know, I said in an earlier post that my son stopped by and did something to the thermostat and got it going before he opened his store and before I had to go to work.  All it cost me was a hug and a kiss and I saved a service call.

This morning I have to make doggie food and then get dressed and head to WM to pick up batteries for my flashlight.  While looking for D batteries I found a whole new package (8) of AAA's so I have them for the next time the thermostat goes out....or my remote needs them.

I better get my day started before the doggies start telling me it time to eat and I'm not ready to feed them.  I hope you all have a lovely day and that ANDY has a restful one so he's ready for the challenges of the coming week.

Good morning everyone..

Another chilly morning 28 ° F here.  Yesterday we had snow! Not a lot just a hint of what is to come and stay. The eave troughs didn't get done so maybe today if it stays dry out. Laundry day here ,work about the home and maybe some sewing too! Boiled up a large pot of chicken legs so have those to take apart and cut up for the dogs.  I think some of the broth is going to go into a pot of chicken soup today along with meat and vegetables.

Jane, happy to read you have heat and no huge bill to deal with.

Jenny, happy to read Bob is doing much better. Gout is a nasty thing to have . Hubby has had it and has meds on had should it ever come back.

Larry, the bed sheet rope was for pulling yourself up. Something I didn't understand either ,I thought it would cause more problems especially if you weren't strong enough to do it.

Better start the laundry...slow getting going this morning.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Just a quick good morning.  It is a pretty nasty-looking day starting here.  Supposed to be rainy and windy all day.  A good day to just stay in .

Nothing exciting has occurred yet this morning.  Hope it will be a calm and restful day.  I have a couple new books and also, the Hallmark channels have started their marathon of Holiday movies.  I never tire of watching some of them over and over again.  There is a good one on tonight from several years ago. It is called "The Christmas Card".  One of my very favorites, so I don't want to miss it.

I hope Shirley's son will be able to have a restful week end and the surgery will go well the first part of the week.  I know it is a very stressful time for that whole family.  Sure hope they will get their "doctor" situation settled.  That, alone, can be so stressful.

Hope you all will have a good day,  no matter what the weather is in your little part of the world.

Joy

Just had a call from my son and he said he came through snow...….to the south of us. Told him to please keep it there :)

Jenny, this new law has a lot of us up in arms but this is how he got elected...promising dope... Now there are commercial out on what and where  you can have/smoke this. They also want "safe" place for them to do this in!! I can really blow a gasket here ,common sense says don't do it.! Now if for medical reasons it is needed, leave it in the hands of a Dr.  Ok...done venting... as you can tell I am totally against this.

AMY, I'm with you on the marijuana thing...or any other addictive substance.  If a Dr. prescribes it for a certain situation and monitors it's use, I can understand it.  Otherwise, it's just plain and addictive substance and it leads to other addictions.

Now I'll get off my soap box!

Still raining...even harder!  The only thing I have to go out for is a quick WM trip for some groceries that are in short supply around here.  Then I'm going to start the salsa.  Most of that goes for Christmas gifts so one triple batch will do it.  That many jars will fit in my electric canner so not that much work involved.  The tomatoes are ready and waiting.

Doggies fed, been out in the rain and are all relaxed and ready for the morning.

Time's a wastin'.  I better "put an egg in my boot and beat it!"  Or maybe I'll just get off my chair and on my horse!

Amy I am for the most part with you on the snow, but the old timers( grand Pa)
and so fourth said we need the cold weather to kill the bugs and the snow to  put the Nitrogen back in the ground. I would much rather have the snow than Ice. I do not think the snow is as slick in your aerie as it gets here. I have been in Canada and drove on it you can brake down on it and not slide as bad as we do here. I used to have a full Beard down on to my chest. i was hauling horses to a slaughter house up in grinville CA. i and a friend were team driving 4 hours on and off. I got out on one trip from the passenger side and walked around the front and down the drivers side a total of a 100 feet to in the barn and had four ice sickles  on my mustache about 4" long. was 50 below 0 that day and time. that was the last trip we made to that country. see you later.

Good morning everyone. the rain has started already and it is pouring. I have turned the heat up to keep the dampness out. At least the wind has not started yet.

MARY ANN  I don't mind simmering something on the stove. My kitchen is a gallery type and very little counter space. Between my microwave and counter oven and coffee pot there is not enough room for the big crockpot. I seldom use it for that reason. My CNA is only here for 2 hours when she comes so does not leave her much time to do much. The best part is she gives me a back massage every time and that gives me some relief for a few hours.

AMY  I use the big crockpot when I make applesauce, love waking to the aroma in the morning.

LARRY  your Pat sounds like me, I can only do a little at a time and have to lay down and rest my back for awhile. My insurance got me a TENS  but a cheap one and it never worked right so it is put away. When I went for PT several years ago they used a TENS on my back and it felt so good after. I have arthritis in my back and Scoliosis. Never knew I had that till the first back orthopedic doctor had Xrays taken that I had it.

LLOYD  Skype is upgrading and for the last few days my daughter and I have not been able to get together on Skype. The new version is complicated but they claim it is better and easier to use. Baloney is all I can say about it.

JANE  the rain is here already, from what local weatherman said in some areas we could get up to 3 inches of rain. Winds along the coast can get up to 55 MPH but here in the northwest of the state we could get up to 35 MPH. Not a day I will go out for fresh air.

AMY 10 degrees warmer than you here. At 28° it would be snow or freezing rain. Rather snow than ice all over. You will never convince me you are slow getting started in the mornings with all you do every day.

JENNY  hope Bob's gout is easing up. My FIL suffered from it for a long time.

AMY  I agree with letting marijuana to be used legally in places now but I can understand the medical use of it. I know several who are using it and feel so much better. At times when the pain in my back is bad I wish I had some. From what I understand they practically have to tell them your life history to be able to get it OKed.

JANE  I have pain pills that are prescribed but I have never taken more than the 3 a day as prescribed and there are days when they do not seem to work at all but I will not take more. I do not want to be really addicted to them, I hate taking them but no over the counter pain stuff ever even touched the pain and Tylenol does no good. Aspirin works better but they can do a number on your stomach when used too often.

Yup,  nicotine ,  alcohol ,
and prescription pain killers (Opiates),
should also be more regulated then
they are,  since they are extremely  addictive
and dangerous  for ALL of US!.

Especially those damn prescription pain
killers which many doctors still
hand out like candy.

Many  (not all)  Doctors are the biggest
pushers of opiates that are killing
much of our population  today,
regardless of age sex, heritage,
culture or race.

https://deserthopetreatment.com/drug-abuse/addictive-opiates/

Not a very pleasant subject

I hope that everyone has a healthy, pain free
day...

Hi Everyone. After a really rainy and chilly day yesterday today is suppose to be clear and up into the 60's.  Our little town's Halloween Jubilee started yesterday afternoon and evening and was suppose to have a concert but due to the damp weather it had to be cancelled. They were expecting up to 25,000 people to attend but sure that number will be greatly reduced.  Tonight there is another concert with Diamond Rio and Mark Chestnut so expect there will be a large crowd downtown for it.

Scott did come out late yesterday afternoon and Pat had decided on a change of menu.  He fixed biscuits and sausage gravy for both of them and I don't really care for that so I had some frozen waffles and I had that for my dinner. This morning I will attend my meeting and then stop at Aldi's for some eggs.  This afternoon I will be watching college football.  This is the big annual weekend where the teams from Georgia and Florida Universities play their game in Jacksonville, Florida.

deAngel, hope you don't lose power today as that Nor'easter hits your area.  Pat managed to use both of her crock pots (large and small) in making the apple butter.  She may still have to cook it some more as wasn't really the butter consistency unless after it cooled in the refrigerator it has become that way.

Mary Ann, glad to see you are getting a new microwave that will be where you can use it.  The inexpensive ones that both Stacey and we had worked perfectly fine although not use they were the 1100 cooking power.

Callie, glad you are having some nice weather down your way.  They were talking on our local news about why the fall colors haven't really started around here and they are going to be late.  However, it this cool weather continues it may be sooner rather than later.

Jane, no wonder you were tired when you got home from work yesterday.  I bet that 5th hour was a long one. Are all Friday's really busy at your store?  Glad your son was able to get your thermostat fixed and save you a service call, which is always expensive.  There is another video call program called Skype that would do the same as the Messenger.  I suggest you do a search for it such as "does Skype have video calling" and you will see a lot of information.

Jenny, did you get recliners with the electric motors that do the reclining and raising and lowering the foot rests?  The last recliners we bought have that feature and I really like it.  Glad to see that Bob is doing better with the gout each day and hope the pain is soon totally gone.  I know you understand the joy we feel having this extra time with Scott and the fact that he wants to spend the time with us.

Lloyd, sorry to see you are having a problem with Skype.  You may need to remove the program and download it again.  When you sign on all of the numbers and names of people that appear in your list will be back. I heard the same thing about needing the cold and snow during the winter.  As you know, tje snow in Missouri is often a very wet snow and that is much slicker than the dry snow.

Amy, thanks for explaining the bed sheet usage.  I can see why it might be handy just as the bed rails on hospital beds help in sitting up when a person is not very strong.  We had gotten Stacey a bed rail for her bed to help her get up and to keep her from falling out of bed, which she had done several times.  So far there hasn't been a politician on the national scene that has advocated for making the use of marijuana legal throughout the US but individual States now allow it even though there is a Federal law that makes its use illegal.  Like a lot of other laws it really isn't enforced.  I feel like you that why use it?  After my kids became teenagers I learned that what i thought was just weeds that grew in the pastures were actually hemp plants.  We sing from the same sheet of music on this issue.  The use of illegal drugs has brought my family nothing but heartache over the years and I have concern for my great grandchildren that have or soon will reach teen years.

Gloria, you must have a very tiny kitchen.  I expect it was like those that Stacey had in her apartments with few cabinets and little counter space.  At least your CNA does the important work while she is there with the good back rub.  Pat used her TENS unit quite a bit yesterday and is hopeful that having it on while in the kitchen will help you tolerate being on her feet longer than 5 minutes.  The TENS unit Pat got seem to really be quality and seems to help, at least while it is on.  If you are interested I will get the information on it and send it to you via email.  The first unit she got was an inexpensive one and didn't work so we had to send it back.  I haven't loaded the new Skype program but probably will.  I seldom use it as like the FaceTime program to talk with my friend in Georgia and have talked with Lloyd on it a few times.

Sandy, they are really starting to crack down on the prescribing of the opiates in this area and about time.  Unfortunately they may go too far the other way as there are legitimate time they certainly are needed.

Jane, if he hasn't already, have your son show you how to change batteries in  your thermostat if the batteries die.  I can't say for yours, but mine are easy to change - but you do have to know how!

Michigan has a proposition on the ballot about OKing marijuana and I voted 'no'.  I am sure it will pass and not just because we are next to Canada.  I can see many more auto accidents because of it along with the people who text while driving.  I have no objection for using it for medical purposes.

Gloria, I have a small kitchen, too, U shaped.  When I was still in school my dad made me a bookcase and I still have it.  I had Tom bring it to the kitchen some time ago for the purpose of storing the crockpot and waffle maker/griddle and any other small appliances that fit (it has two shelves.  I find it now stores anything but small appliances!  But it worked fine for a while.

Amy, we haven't had snow yet, but I know it is coming.  My radar site shows snow in  your area now.  It is an overcast day here so far and it's only 44 degrees.  Brrr.

Yes Larry,  I do agree...

It is going from feast to famine when it comes to pain control..

Sadly,  more education is needed
for the physicians and the public
so that a good solution can
be found for everyone who is suffering
from pain.

I don't have the answers,  but I sure
wish that I did...

Good Day all!  Remember to turn your clock / - Fall Forward.  We don't have to do this in Arizona.  I sure wish it would go back to the normal clock time all over.

Thinking of Shirley and family.

Amy:  It looks like home in Colorado may have snow at the end of this week.  That isn't unusual at all.

Soon, two cousins are arriving - one from Minnesota and one from Washington.  Both of them are trying to beat it out of snow.

I made applesauce in the crockpot yesterday - outdoors.  Just a little bit of Agave syrup to sweeten the green granny apples.

Good Morning,  another sunny day in central Oklahoma.  The first good-weather weekend since Labor Day - according to the weather gurus!

Jennye,  Son's tooth was loose but he didn't expect to lose it in the middle of a tunnel!  He was probably 6 or 7 -  not long after the tunnel opened.   I remember hauling a pool table for our family room up and over Loveland Pass just a few years earlier.

Mary Ann,  the NYC webcams were covered with rain and it was obvious the wind was blowing.  I texted Miss Ellen and she said,  "It's not nice!"     I hope she doesn't have trouble getting to the theater tonight.  It's the next-to-last performance for "Cabaret".   (Did I mention earlier that Old Dad survived seeing the show?   ;D  He had been warned not to march down and snatch her off the stage when he saw her costume and the Kit Kat Girls dancing!!!!)

The sprinklers (over which I have no control) came on just as I started out to deadhead mums in the planters.  So I made up a dozen slider sandwiches instead.  They're "marinating" before being heated and wrapped in foil for easy lunches next week.

Front planters are now in the shade.  Away I go to snip, snip, snip.  Will be done in time to have some soup and a slider (or two) before settling in to watch my Sooners play this afternoon and All My Children's OSU Cowboys play tonight.  It's Homecoming at both schools.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day

CALLIE, I think you're just as busy as any of us on here.  All the things you do are not on MY agenda but I'm not a gardener at heart.  I think I might have a strong streak of "sluggard" in me!  Sometimes all  I want to do is sit with my feet up or lie down.

I have collected all the ingredients for Salsa and tomorrow (or maybe tonight if I get the urge), I'll get my 13 jars of salsa made, mostly for Christmas giving and entertaining.  Right now my eyes are glazed over with zzzzs.  I think I'll deal with that first.

Oh, Jane,  I am definitely NOT a gardener!  Anything that grows in my 5 pots does so in spite of me - not because of me.
I am in awe of your canning!!!   The idea of buying supplies and ingredients - then preparing both, processing, sealing, labeling, etc. just makes me want to   :anon:!!!!

I'm as busy as I want to be - and I do cook - but not like you, Shirley. Amy and others who are still "coupled".

It was soooo pleasant outside this morning.   I took my rollator out and sat on it to do the deadheading.  The neighbors on either side of me appeared and we had a nice chat before one of them left to do errands and the other one went to work in her back yard (Talk about a gardener!  She is one with a capital G!)

Sliders have heated and I have plenty of time for lunch before settling in to watch football, play on the Tablet and probably   :sleepy:.

Good afternoon, EVERYFRIEND!

It was a late night of watching game 3 of the series.  We gave up at 12:45 and then watched the taped version of the end this morning!

Mama and Dad came to pick up Matt and Kate, and Luke decided to stay with us vs going to the Air Force Game.  Fun, fun, so we have been playing games.  Finished lunch and decided it was rest time for me🤪🤪

JANE, I thought maybe I type in caps, making you say you heard me the first time....I had no idea how or why I would have posted two copies??  Gremlins are at it again, I guess!

AMY, I share your thoughts on legalizing marijuana.  I did not vote for it and I feel it was a mistake on our state to even consider doing this.  I feel there are cases where marijuana has it’s place, but just not for anyone to just come here to waste their money on it, getting high and doing who knows what!
I am quite sure in no time at all every state in America will legalize it as well. 🤬😤.

LARRY, the thing that Bob and I agree on the most is being able to eat anything we want at any time we want.  We are very flexible!  We decided together what and where and it does not bother us one bit to change our minds at the last minute.  Glad you got to spend the evening together with Scott.  I purchased a TENS unit in Boston after using Kurt’s.  I use it off and on and I think it works great for temporary pain relief.  Yes, we did get the power on our new recliners.  That part is fantastic as I have trouble put others ones up and down.

Yes, it is nearly time to FALL BACK and gain that hour we lost.

We spring forward at a different time than you do AMY, but it appears we fall back at the same time.

CAROL, as usual, it is going to be cold and messy for Halloween😢

Luke is ready to play some cards so I best go.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.

Jenny

JENNY, I was teasing you!

I did not do the salsa today.  I just haven't felt up to par so I let it slide.  I did make a trip to the grocer store and got some good frozen dinners to make when I'm too busy or tired to do the real thing.

Callie, I'm not sure what you mean when you said Shirley, Amy and I are still "coupled".  The only one that is part of a couple is Amy.  Shirley and I are both single.  And you are a very busy lady.  Don't sell yourself short!

GLORIA, I think it was you who mentioned the Christmas movie called "The Christmas Card".  It was on tonight and I watched it.  I like this one so much that I actally bought it a couple years ago.  I'll probably watch it again before Christmas.

Now I'm going to start shutting down and getting ready to go to bed.  Just don't feel up to par.  Tomorrow has to be a better day!  Hope it is for all of you, also!

Jane,  I probably should have said you and Shirley PLUS Amy and others who are coupled.    :booboo:
Trying to say I'm not responsible to or for anyone else and I don't have any pets so I'm not the same kind of busy.

Two college football games in one day are almost too much!  Watched my Sooners "whup up" on Kansas State  (sorry, Shirley) and am now watching OK State trying to ruin Texas' win record.  So far, so good - but it's only the 3rd quarter.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Good morning everyone..

:snowball: :snowman: :snowball:

We have snow!!! Last night Golden Girl wanted out, so out she went only to slip on the snow on the patio stones. Out I went in bare feet to help her back up. She went to the far side of the back yard and when I looked, I didn't think she could get up  so back in the house grabbed my winter coat and shoes this time and out I went to help her back in.  The closer I got to her I started to laugh, she had four legs flailing in the air....she was having her first snow bath of the year!!

We didn't get much, maybe a good inch but it needs to be cleaned away ..after that it is a day of rest.

Jane hope you feel better today after your 5 hour shift yesterday.

G'morning all.
Well, From this morning we are now into winter time !, so it's roll on spring!,it's a nice bright sunny day, dry but very cold, with a strong north wind ,blowing straight down from the artic, hopefully very little chance of snow this far down south.
Larry, you might be able to give a bit of guidance here ?, did you know that American Football teams come over here to play, blimey !, that must cost a fortune, supporters too !, I think they started to come over last year?, I have never watched any of the games (on one of our TV channels) as I have no idea of the rules etc !, but there seems to be a following over here, what I have seen of the highlights of some games (and the 'Razzmatazz') that go with the American game, it seems to be more lively than our game of Rugby, I am not sure if it will get a hold over here but, the big money backers must have high hopes, the supporters they bring with them too! it must cost them a 'Arm and a Leg' just to fly across to watch their teams play here !, in Englands National Football Stadium too !, as you may know, our three big winter games are Rugby (both League and Union) and Football,  so someone must have a lot of confidence of gaining foot hold in the uk, plenty of big $ too I suspect !, I might give it a try this lunch time, it's on the BBC @ 1PM our time, the two teams are 'Jacksonville Jaguars v Philadelphia Eagles' I know nothing of them, never even heard of them, if we finish our dinner in time, as I said, I might have a go at watching the American game, I hope it is good especially for their supporters who flew ? all the way here to watch them !, I might pick up a few of the rules by the end of the match ! ...
                                              Cheers.   Peter.

Good morning.    Looks like it is going to be a nice day , although still chilly.  A lot better than yesterday.

Jane, I think I was the one who mentioned the Hallmark movie "The Christmas Card".   I, too, watched it last night.  I think that is my very favorite Hallmark movie.  I try to watch it everytime it is on.   I think it will be on again sometime this week again.  It is such a "feel good" story.  I love the ending .  I always forget the actress who plays the mother.......Lois Nettleton ,  Last night I watched the names come up and then remembered it.  She has been around a long time.  All the actors are good.  I don't especially care for "Paul", and always glad when he is out of the picture.  Faith does pick the right one !!!!

Jane, I am glad that you feel better this morning and able to get to church. You have been a "busy bee" with all the canning you did.  I am wondering what kind of "good frozen dinners" you bought.  I have to watch my salt intake a little bit and they all seem to be so full of salt.  So, just curious as to what "good" ones you bought.

I am going to try to do a little bit of laundry sometime today.  I keep putting it off as long as I can.

Hope everyone will have a nice Sunday.

Joy

Hi Everyone. We have an unclouded sky this morning and no wind.  It is suppose to be sunny all day and get up to 72 degrees this afternoon.  It sounds like a perfect day.  It will start out with Sunday School for me and perhaps Church for both Pat and I.  As usual we will get something for our main meal before coming home to a restful afternoon.  We expect Scott to come out this afternoon.  He is going to put up new curtain rods and black out curtains in our bedroom.  I will watch some pro football this afternoon.  Yesterday was a winning day for the South Carolina and Georgia Universities as Georgia beat Florida and South Carolina beat Tennessee and Clemson beat Florida State.

Mary Ann, I remember how difficult it was to change the batteries in the fire alarms I have had in other houses.  The ones I have in this house are very easy as there is a little pull out shelf type place where the battery fits and you just take it out and insert a new one and put the little door closed.  There are no wires to connect to it and you don't have to remove the alarm from the wall.  I haven't heard how many States have the marijuana issue on the ballots but expect there are quite a few and soon it will likely be nationwide.  I agree it should be legal for health reason.  I just know I don't want to be around it as it smells awful.  Occasionally you stand next to someone in a store who obviously uses it and they have the smell.

Sandy, the pharmaceutical industry has tremendous influence in our Congress and it is all about the bottom line.  They have and still make fortunes on the opiates and they maintain very close ties to the medical community.  I used to know a lady whose son or daughter was a drug rep and she said that they had a $10 million dollar budget at the reps disposal to help influence the doctors in various ways.  Thank goodness for generic drugs.

Carol, like Amy our daylight savings time doesn't end until Nov 4th so we have another week.  However, thanks for the reminder.  Pat has been working on her applesauce for two days and it still hasn't thickened up so I took it out of the refrigerator this morning and put it back into the crock pot to cook down some more only to find out when Pat got up she wasn't going to cook it anymore. A lot of juice came off the apples and she put all of it back in after the apples were cooked and the skins removed.  I hope she doesn't make it again as it is too much work for her.

deAngel, while you may not buy the delightful pastries at the stores bakery it is fine to look at them and remember when we did enjoy such things (which I still do).

Callie, a number of years ago I bought a used pool table so my son would be able to enjoy it and I had room for it in my basement.  It was extremely heavy as had the slate top.  I was glad when I sold it and couldn't have moved it as didn't have room in my last home.  I guess Dad knew that was not her normal wearing apparel and it was just a costume.  Did your teams win yesterday?

Jane, you just don't fit the sluggard definition in any way.  You are just human and get tired so hope your enjoyed the ZZZ's.

Jenny, it sounds like Luke was wise to stay and play games with grandparents.  Those are special times.  Fortunately Pat and I can eat about anything we like as are not allergic to any foods.  I do try to limit fried foods but I am going to enjoy what I like.  Pat is finding the TENS unit is helping her pain.

Time to leave so will have to come back later this afternoon and finish reading the postings.

Good morning everyone, after all the rain yesterday I woke to more of it, very light compared to yesterday. Did not hear anything about how much fell yesterday.

LARRY  last week they said here the foliage would be late this year. I was surprised when I looked out this morning to see not many leaves fell from yesterday's Nor'easter.

MARY ANN  this kitchen is smaller than pantries I have seen. Really not much storage in here at  all.

CAROL  I thought it was next Saturday/Sunday we turn the clocks back.

GLORIA de  I have my crockpot on the floor  in my closet.Good thing I do not have a lot of long clothes hanging in there.

JANE  it was not me who mentioned the Christmas Card, don't think I ever saw that one.

JOY  glad you said it wAS YOU WHO MENTIONED THE CHRISTMAS CARD.  Oops, didn't know the cap lock was on. I don't get the Hallmark channel and I do miss it because I liked it.

Have a good day.

JOY, thanks for correcting me on THE CHRISTMAS CARD.  You're right, it is a "feel good" movie and I don't care much for Paul either.  I think he was a bit sneaky but he figured out in the end that he and Faith were not compatible and he did the right thing.

About the dinners, I like the Asian one and my favorite has become the Kahiki dinners.  I checked one of the boxes and where they list the ingredients, there is a combined list that says "less than 2% of the following ingredients"  and salt is one of them.  They have a pretty neat website and if you go on there to check them out, they don't come back and bug you every day.  However, they do offer a coupon once a month for a dollar off on any product.  And they let you print it twice.  The website is kind of fun too.

I'll soon have to get lunch for me and a snack for the doggies "empty stomach syndrome".  Once that's done, I'm going to start on the Salsa.  Everything is ready and I'm going to put the jars in my fancy electric canner to sterilize before I have lunch.  It shouldn't take long.

Guess I better get moving!  Hope you all enjoy your day!

Good Afternoon,

I was enjoying watching the birds and colorful leaves while finishing my tea and toast when a big coyote came trotting along the fence line!!!!!!
We have had some around the pond during the summer and my neighbors said they'd heard them on the creek side of our back fences during the past couple of nights.
However, the idea that they're exploring the yards during daylight hours is not pleasant.  Am wondering if I should bring in the bird feeders so the critters won't think it's a feeding station for them.

Larry,  OU almost let K-state catch up but managed to win by 3 points.  The Sooner defensive line coach was fired two weeks ago after a loss to Texas (and other reasons) and there was a definite difference in yesterday's game.
OSU game was very exciting.  They did beat Texas which broke the Longhorns' conference winning streak.
I watched both games from "whistle to whistle".

Have been to church but not OTL.  Two gals weren't there and the other one didn't feel like it because she is just now out and about after spraining leg muscles/tendons in a fall.

Off to find something for lunch and finish the paper.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

[b My mistake - I did see a note that it was this weekend but now I know that info was wrong to change the clock back.  It used to be the railroad did not change either and maybe that has changed now.

We just had a SKYPE call over the computer from youngest son.  It is so nice to chat and look at each other via the camera on the laptop.

Jane , I have never seen a dog that likes to roll as much as she does.I really think she loves the snow to roll in and she had another good roll (making snow angels ) this morning. And to think that vet tech would only give her a week to live and that was the end of June!

I am trying a new recipe out for supper , sounds good and smells good too. Will let you know what we think of it later.

Good afternoon, partly sunny day.

Larry, I for one will not vote for maruyama, when I put the local news on in the AM , on the police report there always a couple of arrest for going through red light or stop signals, cause of smoking maruyama.   We do have a M. clinic here, but they fought it for a long time.  By the way Gloria and I still like our lemon DD, remember Joan put them out once in a while.  I was in a DD store a few months ago and ask for the lemmon, and the clerck said they do not make that flavor anymore :tickedoff:

Will admit that I've read all the posts & even skimmed a 2nd time but didn't take notes.  My brain is on hold until after the surgery tomorrow.  BUT... My daughter gave me 2 DVDs a couple years ago, The Christmas Card &  Christmas Lodge.  I've watched them over & over in the RV.... took me several re-runs before I would get to see the end as they are wonderful sleeping aids.  I love 'em.....  such beautiful scenery & kind people it's easy to relax and doze off.  I had plenty of others in the drawer to watch but those 2 are favorites. Her last visit she brought me a whole huge tote bag full of all kinds, that was one reason for the trip planned last week, besides the family reunion.  I may still get to go before the snow flies, fit a trip in between winter weather.  This is the prettiest fall I think I've seen in 50 years, cool enough but no freezing yet.  If y'all like the Christmas Card.... I do recomment Christmas Lodge.  I have a hard time sitting still to watch movies at home, always got jobs to do.  Out camping a different story.

I came to as a serious question of everyone using a crock pot.  I cooked another eye of round, so many ways to use it, hardly any fat to throw away & the broth is out of the world for making soups or just add to mashed potatoes. YUM. My concern is after cleaning up the crock pot there is always moisture inside the lid.  I take a paper towel & twist corners to put into the little hole to drain out... as dry as I can get it, but I'm afraid it will get mold inside & let it sit on the cabinet at least a day to dry before putting the lid on to store.  Is there a better way to dry in between the glass in the lid?  I tried a hair dryer but didn't seem to dry any better than leaving open to air.  There is a screw to the handle on top but I'm afraid I won't get it back together right.  Any advice?  Please?

On with my chores.... I'm watching the trees lay down on the grass.... goodness, don't even miss the leaves on the trees & the yard is knee deep.

Callie, no advice about the coyote but since I feed everything, the one we had ate whatever was down by the river.  I'm sure some neighbors weren't happy about it, but I figured any day it got a meal from me it didn't have to hunt down someone's cat or dog.... I didn't want to adopt it, but while it was here & hungry, what harm can it do to feed what ever I was going to throw away?  I'm pretty sure, after a close look at the one here, it was old & probably not able to hunt like when younger.  We built houses in their hunting grounds & poisoned the smaller critters they could dig out of the ground.  The cats were not afraid when we were all down by the river & it came running by to check out the food pan.... they watched it come & go.  I did see this one during the day so not rabid.... just hungry.

Larry, a year or so ago I watched a TV expose' about the money the pharmaceutical industry spends on doctors & politicians to "sell" their latest pills.... I was so angry that my recorder had quit & I couldn't tape ... and never saw anything like it again because we all know they also spend a lot of money with their commercials & would pull commercial money as a threat.  It is a sad world we live in these days.  People used to be a little shyer about their hatreds & bias & prejudice minds, but anyone is fair game today.  What ever happened to libel laws & the threat to sue if they didn't have proof?  Thanks for the news about Pat Scott H............

Hope everyone has a beautiful day like we have here in Kansas.  Hugs to all...........

Nothing new from the West Coast, at least as far as I know. I watch very little news, don't read Newspapers, Mostly have my nose in a book.We have a good array of Christian fiction, and I like the author, Beverly Lewis...and others too.plus there are all kinds of Westerns, Mysteries, romance, plus all other types of literature. If I were to live to be a hundred I could not read all our library here contains.

I had to skip Church this morning. Woke up at 3:30 and could not go back to sleep. So my day has been in a deep fog. I have stayed home except for one trip downstairs to get my can of Gatorade, one more just to take a walk around our gardens and breathe in fresh air. My windows are always open to the outside, unless it is raining. But walking out of doors requires more deep breathing of the outside air.

Tisie, My prayers are with you and the family as you have to endure your son's surgery tomorrow. Try to keep an optimistic attitude dear heart....easier said than done, but it is better for you and all the rest of the family if you know that God is in charge and He knows how needful you will all be during the surgery.I am praying you will feel our God's powerful Love right there in your midst, and of course in His guidance of the surgeon.

Time for me to have some light supper and get ready for bed and book. Hugs, Love and Prayers for all of you. Always, June.

I'm going to take this opportunity to wish you all a Good Night, too.  Tomorrow is a work day and I'm planning to hit the hay a bit early tonight.  I finished the salsa for Christmas gifts and did some hot stuff just for me, too.  I might make one more batch because this didn't make as much as I remembered.

Sometime tomorrow I'm going to baka a pumpkin pie just because I'm hungry for one and the next time we go to the Amish store I have my list ready to get the things I still need make fruit cake.   My mother used to say "If you don't have the fruit cake baked by the second week of November, you might as well forget it."  So I have to obey the rules!

I guess I better get off here and get ready for bed if I'm going to get there early.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a good tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

SHIRLEY, I'll be thinking of Andy and all of you tomorrow and sayings special prayers every chance I get.  God be with you all and guide the surgeon's hands!

Good morning everyone, guess what-----------it is pouring again with a chance of thunder storms later. Enough already but still better than snow, although  I rather see snow. Another day of being stuck inside.  Weather gal is saying a tornado warning on Block Island off our shore and along the coastline. Boy on local news this morning all they are talking about is the Red Sox win of the world series. Of course I am happy the local team won but I never liked baseball.

GLORIA  de  I have been told around here, too, that DD has stopped making the lemon donuts because they had no calls for them anymore. To me they are the best and you most likely agree with me.

SHIRLEY  one thing I always loved about camping was no housework all day and cooking was much easier, everything tasted better outside. I always just washed the inside of the crock put and the lid and dried them, let both air for a few hours and then put it away. My first one did not have the removable crock and that was a horror to wash.  My prayers are going for Andy today. I pray everything goes perfect with God's help.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone. It is suppose to be sunny here all day and this afternoon will get up to around 71 degrees.  I have a quiet day planned.  I met with a friend here at the house early this morning.  Scott will be over later this morning to put up the curtains and spend some time with us.  Yesterday our Church Service was Children's Sunday from Kindergarten up thru 5th grade.  They did the readings, sang songs and basically conducted the service except our minister gave the sermon.  It was a delightful morning and the children were very impressive.  After Church we went to the Sunshine Grill and split a Club sandwich with a side of potato salad.  The sandwiches are so large that there is too much for one person to eat at one time.  We came home and rested for a couple of hours and then I watched some of the football games.  Scott had planned to come over but called about 5:30 to say he wasn't going to make it so we had an uneventful evening and will be here about 10:30 this morning.

Since Scott will be here shortly I am not going to write comments to each person this morning, especially if I have commented over in Norm's Bait & Tackle discussion.

Gloria, we are not seeing many leaves fall here yet either as it has been so warm. It seems that the rain comes in bunches.  I hadn't heard that the Red Sox won the World Series.  I didn't watch a minute of baseball all year long.

Jane, I often buy the TV dinners but have never tried the Kahiki dinners.  I will look for them the next time I shop in that area and have made a note to check out their website. Your dogs get more attention by needing to go out at different time.

Lloyd, you may be warmer there today than we will be here in the South.

Callie, I hope the coyote wasn't looking for a small cat or dog for its meal.  Oklahoma doesn't like to lose to Texas in football.  I remember from living close to Norman where the University of Oklahoma is located. While I like to see the teams I support ahead having a close game does keep it interesting.

Carol, being able to see the person we are talking to is nicer than just over the telephone as we can see the facial expressions.

Amy,  glad you are still enjoying your dog.  I will put a link in the Recipe Index for the chowder recipe later today or tomorrow.

deAngel, have you heard that Dunkin Donut is dropping the Donut part of their name.  I liked the lemon filled donuts the best.

Shirley, I am praying for Andy as he has his surgery today and for you and the rest of his family.  I know it is a trying time for you all.  I was shocked to learn not too long ago about the law that prevented the pharmacist from advising that their is a generic unless the person asked about it first.

June, you are probably happier by not watching much news and it seems most of it is bad.  Glad you have a nice library available to you where you live.

Amy, your poor husband sure has a lot of medical issues and must suffer from a lot of pain.  He is fortunate to have you to be there for him and to get him the help he needs.

Merry Monday, Everyfriend,

Sending prayers and good thoughts up I-35 to Shirley and family.

Larry,  Competition is fierce in the conference that includes colleges from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Iowa.  I wish Colorado and Nebraska were still in it.  Never have understood  how or why West Virginia got into the mix.

Amy,  I'm sure Hal would have had a comment or two on that game.  We had a lot of fun with our "bets".

My Wi-Fi connection has been off and on all morning.  Frustrating when I have several e-mails to answer and can't get them to Send.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Today's program is crazy hat day. I don't have a crazy hat, but I do have my ancient Associates cap from the Sister of St. Mary. It is and Anglican order, but diminished in
members out West. Still active in the south from what I understand

It is once again time to go for lunch, so I will see you later..

He is out of surgery and all went well. His wife, their 2 children & spouses plus his sister (my daughter) all in the waiting room, the other son had to work but got texts every step of the way.  I've come to tell you before calling my siblings... and to thank all of you for the prayers and loving thoughts.  Afraid I broke down when they wheeled the gurney past the waiting room just after the doctor had come to tell of the progress & what is ahead.  His face looked peaceful, still asleep but this step is over.  There wasn't a dry eye in the group. We pulled ourselves together & continued with the plans for Thanksgiving & 7 birthdays (all one big party).... will be on Andy's birthday & all others are within a week of that date.

I know HE listens when you all pray and I am very, very grateful.  He has a much longer recovery than I did because of the infection & damage it has done to his body up till now, antibiotics for months & my brain couldn't hold all the doctor talked about.

Sandy, Fe really is such a beautiful little girl.  Is her hair getting darker.... ?  Long ago you posted a photo of yourself, doesn't she look a lot like you?  I have 6 great grands from 4 to 1 year old (oldest is 7) from 3 of my grands.... 4 more grands still not married.  They do multiply fast.

Shirley,  SO grateful to know the surgery went well.   Thanks for sharing so quickly.
Recovery may be lengthy but "slow and steady" wins the race.
:hugs: and :smitten: to you.

Thank you, Mary Ann, Amy, Callie & Gloria de.... My daughter just left, his wife called to say the breathing tube is out a couple hours before expected.... and I come in here to settle down.  You all are such a comfort when nerves are jangled.  This has been a shock we never expected and at the same time, I keep reminding myself how many of you have lost/given up/ how ever you say it, children and my heart aches for each one of you.  No matter what each of us faces in here, someone knows first hand exactly how we feel.  Thank you all for being here and especially for the on going prayers!  Guess I'd better get a bite to eat & crawl in bed, cats have been fed twice since I came home, right now they want out but weather guesser said, "rain tonight" before I left this morning, have not checked to see if they changed their minds.

SHIRLEY, I am so happy for your.  I read your post while stopped at a traffic light and I could feel a weight lift so I know in a small way how you must have felt!  I breathed a small prayer of thanks to our Heavely Father and now as someone else said, you rest and recoup your strength.  Lots to do in the coming weeks.  God be with you all and especially Andy as he gains strength.

Good night all!  Thank you God for today and for tomorrow, too!/color]

Good morning everyone...

No snow or rain this morning..

Yesterday went well, hubby got his flu shot and the Dr is looking into sending him to a new rheumatologist. In the mean time he has an appointment to have an ultra sound done on his hands and knees.

Today is VON day then we will take his script into the drugstore. They phoned yesterday to say he will have to wait a year to get the Shingrex  shot because he just has the shingles. May try to get a bit of sewing done after I do some cleaning in here.

Larry, that soup was really good. I think one could play with the recipe and add more and leave out what you don't like.  Yes, he is in a lot of pain at the moment and until they make an adjustment on his meds for RA will just have to endure. We he first got RA he could hardly walk..

Gloria, the rain has brought the lakes and swamps up a bit and I always like to see that before freeze up. Why is it we find something really good an they turn around and discontinue it?

Lloyd, maybe you need to wash her back first? :)

Better git as VON comes anytime!!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, boy it is dark in the mornings now. I wake and think it is still the middle of the night, already dark about 5:30 in the afternoon. Of course we have not had much sunlight in almost a week and rain just about every day for a week or more. If it was snow we would have a few feet of it by now. In less than a week we have had a few tornadoes around, very unusual here. Not big ones but still some damage from  trees and wires down, mostly along the coast. This is the first year we ever had tornado warnings here.

LARRY  just not enough if us asked for the lemon donuts at DD so they no longer make them. I have had some from different  places but not as good as the DD ones were.

CALLIE  every time you mention the Oklahoma Texas games I think of Hal. I think we all still miss him.

SANDY  I cannot believe how fast your young beauty FE has grown. She is adorable even as a devil.

SHIRLEY  so glad to read your news about Andy. Prayers continue for a rapid recovery now. Hope you can stop worrying so much and get some needed sleep.

AMY  I am hoping I can get outside for awhile today.

Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I decided not to wait for Cathy this week and I'm off to the Amish Store this morning.  I need to get the rest of the ingredients for fruit cake and a few other items that I'm short of.  I've begun to collect the ingredients for Christmas candy but that won't be until the fruit cake is in the aging process.

Enjoy your day!

Hi Everyone.  It looks like we will have another beautiful, sunny and mild day with it getting only into the mid-70's.  The maintenance man is to be here this morning to pressure wash the house and start on some minor outside maintenance that will get us ready for winter.  A friend will be here to work with me at 10 am for an hour and that is going to be plenty for today.  I have already fixed my medicine boxes for the next two week and cleared everything off the front porch.  I awoke around 3:30 this morning and just couldn't go back to sleep so got up pretty early.  Yesterday Scott came by to put up the blackout drapes in our master bedroom only to find out that the drapes were not long enough.  Fortunately Pat got them at Costco so they will be an easy return and she has already ordered the longer drapes so once they arrive the project will be able to be completed as she already got the rods.  Pat is giving me a break and is fixing her own breakfast this morning.

Callie, I think when I was living in Missouri that the University of Missouri was in the same conference as Oklahoma and Texas.  Missouri is now in the SE Conference and in the last few years there have been a lot of shifts in the schools in the various conferences.

Sandy, that is a fun age although has a reputation as the "Terrible Twos".

June, I wonder who thought up "crazy hat" day?  I hope you had a good time with it and enjoyed a good lunch.

Shirley, now the healing can begin and it sounds like he did very well even getting the breathing tube out early.  I hope you will be able to relax now.  It is hard on parents when their children are ill and have to have operations since there is little we can do other than be there for them and pray for them.  Is Andy retired?  It sounds like they are now going to treat the infection (that the other doctor couldn't deal with).  You all will be his strength for awhile now until he can regain it on his own.  Heart surgery takes a lot of energy out of a person for awhile. I hope you were able to get a good nights sleep.

Amy, that RA your husband suffers with sounds awful and how does he get comfortable?  I hope he can get in to see a new doctor soon.

Gloria, at least all of that rain doesn't leave the roads and walks slick like snow and I expect you will have plenty of snow within a few weeks as we enter November.  The weather seems to be changing about everywhere.  You sure don't need the tornadoes and something else to be concerned about.  I just discovered a few days ago that there is a DD not very far from me over in the area where I go to Walmart.  I haven't been to one since we moved here and will try to avoid the temptation although someone brought pumpkin spice iced cake donuts to our Sunday School class last Sunday and I just had to eat one.

Jane, it sounds like you have your work cut out for you with all of the cooking and candy making you have on the schedule before Christmas.

Good morning.  I didn't get in here yesterday at all, so there were a lot of messages to read.

Shirley, I am so happy to read the good news about your son. That is wonderful news!   Now, it sounds like he is well on the way to a complete recovery.  I know it is a big relief on your whole family.  Happy that you can begin making plans for all your family holiday gatherings.  My thoughts are with you all.

Jane,  all your holiday plans for your homemade goodies sound so nice.  My aunt used to make fruitcakes, and I really miss receiving one of them from her. She started  right about the same time as you.  After years of making them for gifts,  she did start to make  them to sell.  And, word of mouth got her a lot of orders.  She used to make her own wine and would use that in the cake and also would soak cheesecloth to wrap around the cakes.   I like citron, but she had a lot of orders from people who requested not to have her include the citron.  I really like the taste of the citron.

Yesterday, I did go down to  the exercise class here.  There were 8 people who showed up and it was fun.  The hour went by pretty quickly.  Hopefully that will get me motivated to keep on.  Wish the class was more than just once a week.  I do have a couple videos that I might look up to be able to continue on my own.

Tomorrow, I will have a long day.  I have to go for blood work, then get a PET scan and a doctor's apt afterwards.  My son will  drop me off at the blood lab, and the radiation place is in the same building, and my DIL will pick me up afterwards. We will probably go to lunch and then on to  the  doctor's appt. which isn't far way.  I am just glad to be able to get this done on the same day.  Not  very physically stressful, but  I have to get myself  geared up mentally.  Always a little apprehensive, but hoping for good results.  Since I have been feeling  so good, that should be a good sign.

Larry, we have a perfectly beautiful day this morning,  and our temperatures are supposed to warm up for the next couple days.  It  should be nice for all the little trick or treaters.

I have read all the messages, but just not time to make more comments.  I do enjoy reading about all your daily activities.  Just have to limit my time on the computer these days.

Hope everyone will have a good day.

Joy

Well, I went to the Amish Store and I got everything I still needed to make the fruit cake and also more stuff to get the candy started.  I was going to make it on Thursday but I think I'll wait until Saturday.  The insulator is coming on Thursday morning and I'd rather not be involved in something I can't leave while they are here.

By Friday morning, I expect it to be nice and cosy in here!

I picked up a green writing pen and a red one today and I'm going to make soup labels for the ones that go to the church and to the student support cache in November.  Once that's done, and it's delivered, I'll feel better. And, I'll have a little more space.

Hope you're having a great day!

Came back into see how Andy is doing..

Filled the wood box and hubby helped me. Then I went and got another load just to have on hand and I split some kindling to have ready. After VON left we nipped to the druggist with his script. Now the van has been wased and waxed,,think that waxing will do till next Spring.

Jane, you will feel a big difference in your home once he insolates it. You are going to be so busy with cakes, candies and soup!

Good Afternoon,

JaneS,   you and one of my friends here are getting an early start on Christmas.  She had her outside lights put up last weekend!  Of course, her house won't smell nearly as good as yours will with all the baking, etc.

Larry,  I'd forgotten about Missouri being in this conference.  I remember the Big Seven - then the Big 8 - then the Big 12.................I've lost count!!!   :crazy2:

Shirley,  hope Andy is continuing to improve every day.  Prayers continue.

I'm "helping" my housecleaner by staying out of her way.  Sounds as if it's about time for us to switch areas.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good afternoon.....
It is a dreary snowy day here after hitting a high of nearly 80* yesterday.  Not officially at the airport but at my house!

YEA, JANE WENT TO THE AMISH STORE🎈🎈 Happy to read you purchased all the ingredients needed for your fruit cake and candy.  You are one energetic lady!!  YIPPE the insulation man is going to be there on Thursday.  This will make a big difference for you!

I got some inside windows washed today.....now when the sun shines I will be able to see if I did a good enough job!

CALLIE....don’t forget the PAC 12.....was 10.  You are right there are so many and they keep changing them!

Good luck at all of your appointments today, JOY!  I bet you will be plum worn out after you are done.

AMY, good for you and hubby getting more firewood split and stacked!  That is a BIG job.  I do not miss doing that, but I do miss a real roaring fire.  Now I push a button and my fireplace comes on and warms me up and makes me feel good🤪. Just not the same though.

JUNE, I sure hope you enjoyed your cRaZy hat day!  Isn’ it nice to have something to make us smile🤣

LARRY, sorry there was a snag in getting the black out curtains installed.  Thank goodness for Costco’s easy to return policy.  Sorry for your early wake up, and not being able to go back to sleep.  That is terrible, but we all seem to have it happen every once in awhile.  Bob’s toe is better today, so he is sure happy.  Yesterday it was really hurting him.  His steroid pills ran out a couple of days ago so we were getting rather concerned.  Darn pain!

GLORIA, we have Krispy Kream Donuts here and they did a big ad on TV that they were going to have Lemon frosted donuts for a week....I made a special trip to get one only to be told, “oh we don’t have those here in this market”!  I said, well thank you and I drove away!  I was so disappointed and I had already planned to brag a bit to you about how good they were and I wish I could share with you!  Haha, joke was on me🤬. Who doesn’t like LEMON donuts!  Those crazy people!

SHIRLEY, you have my continued positive thoughts and prayers headed to Andy and your family today.  I hope and pray he had a good night.

Have a goid rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenn

Flowers are still blooming and Hummingbirds are in the yard.  Well, it is Arizona.  Cousins from Minnesota have arrived this week - they are less than an hours drive. Tremendous noise from the street as they are digging to put in faster internet - it has been several days of this pus several days of nothing in between the actual work.

We have two trips planned for going into Mexico.  The lines can be long coming back - we must have Passports and they do ask questions.  I expect it to be even more serious business than it is even now.  The wonderful and smart German Shepherds get to meet and greet each of us too.

Jane:  What kind of candy do you make for the holidays?

My cell phone gets calls from the Longmont, CO area daily - a calling center that uses many phone lines.  My aim is to Block each and every number - I would like to ask some elected official why we have to put up with this interference in our lives.  It is a business, of course -

Jenny:  You can wash my windows too  :)  Good news that Bob's toe is better.  Any trips south planned?  The last Broncos trade surprised me.

Shirley:  I am so happy that this surgery is over for you and for the entire family.

:tissue: OH! MY!  :tissue:     NO LEMON DONUTS..... if everyone hadn't enjoyed them so much when Joan was around to make sure DD had them, I would never have known (and enjoyed) all the drooling that went on.  Seriously, I am sorry you made the trip 'cause the way I always consider things.... if it's really what I want & like, calories don't count, isn't that right?

Jenny, Cas had one med that would kick the gout overnight.... maybe your son doesn't want him to have it because it is so dangerous.  There was something he took all the time & the other med that he only took kind of "overnight".  I didn't discuss his pills with him so as not to disagree with his choices, just like I'm sure he bit his tongue quite a few times at my opinions for myself.  Are you really getting snow today?

Daughter just stopped by from the hospital, she goes back home tomorrow.  Andy is doing fine but has tubes coming out of him everywhere, nothing like my surgery.  They are still draining fluid from his lungs & the rest of his body, evidentally the heart isn't doing it's job fully yet (is that right, Larry?)  I had none of these other problems so naturally, the different reactions do give a mother a concern.  Different hospital and different doctor... and frankly, he is getting super service from all.  I am impressed.  Thank you all for the continued prayers, it will be a while before I can take a deep breath. I kept busy by washing & ironing the shirts I bought him & keeping up with phone calls, etc. When everyone else goes back to work I will do hospital time until he gets to come home, but he has professionals doing their job taking care of him right now.

Jane, I will hit the store to shop for all those ingredients that go into a German Chocolate cake.... but have a couple weeks before producing that, along with turkey & the turkey/noodles we've all learned to love that is a south east Kansas MUST have for Thanksgiving.  I never heard of it until my best friend talked about it & my daughter in law.  Sure enough, it was even available at the local KFC in that area.  Everyone says they don't like turkey but can't have noodles without all that broth & drippings plus white meat cut up in.... going to have a couple rotisserie chickens, the fruit plates & salad plates, and somehow I got volunteered to bake that German Chocolate cake.... the menu grows & so do the invitees... (such a word?) Somebody's parents & if they come that means HER parents will as well.  At least it's not at my house.    Our gathering is the week before the holiday when the grand, her husband & 2 kids fly in from Seattle.  This is the kind of holidays I grew up with, my mother always said there was room for more.... that turned out most of the time to 35-45 for sit down holiday meals.  It worked (so did she), but we tried to do the clean up for her.  At the end of the day we think back and smile, is it worth it?.... sure is!

Amy, love to have a fire but am afraid to, my chimney hasn't been professionally cleaned since I don't know when.  Do you have to have yours cleaned out, burning wood, regularly?  This fireplace has a gas "lighter" but I've never used it... and a plate in the bottom under the wood rack that opens to scoop the ashes out to be cleaned out from outside.  Convenient & so cozy but I'm not sure if safe.  Any advice?

Joy, hope all the tests come out great.  I can't remember when I've had a "physical" because I have accidents  :crazy2: so go in when I need X-rays or stitches.  My doctor is always willing to run any tests that might be needed to solve a problem, but kind of like cleaning the house, never get the whole body (or all the rooms) taken care of at one time!  You are so organized!

Gloria, I just took a look outside & am stunned at the leaves on the ground today!  I'm betting myself that was a job you enjoyed when your kids were young, pile 'em up & jump in them?  Right now it isn't too windy but they will be heading down the street when it blows.  Cas used to stand at the kitchen window that looks out over the street & moan because those leaves would swoop down the street & land right in the arms of out yard.  This house faces slightly northwest with garages that angle to catch the leaves.  Few people pick up leaves until all trees are bare but he cleaned them up a couple times a week at least, and griped.  Doesn't bother me to see them blow around.  ;)  I will pick up big bags full but not until MY trees have fewer leaves on.  I pick up my fair share & will do as long as I'm in this house.  One of these days I will retire. Maybe...

Carol, normally I don't use my cell except when I leave the city for a trip... but have had it on this week, day & night. So far the call centers have not caught up with my cell, but my landline gets a work out.  This morning I got the "your grandson" call & asked, "which one?"... of course, the oldest with a cold... cough-cough.... then he asked what I was doing so I said, "getting ready to go to the hospital"... his reaction was, "oh, no, what's wrong?".... I responded, "you aren't part of THIS family, why don't you get an honest job & quit begging???" and slammed the phone down.  Next caller was not human so no satisfaction with the ,"get a life" scream.  What "warranty department" do you suppose "they" are talking about?  I never listen to the whole story.

My daughter has used up all her blocks for her cell.... & I used up all allowed with my e-mail.  I don't know how to delete some of the OLD blocked numbers to get rid of frequent ones this week.  I've also been trying to figure how to dump the cache, etc. on Chrome... I'm sure these computers would work better, especially the old one... but I'm afraid to dump things I don't know how to get back if I mess up... # 1 son in the hospital & #2 son busy with work & fighting termites in his house.  He's given Terminex more than 3 months to kill them & they still have not done the entire surround house treatment.  They treated our house for 3 solid days inside & out, but I wouldn't want to go through that again. He is having to replace a lot of wood... found live ones just a week ago.... they are munching it down.

Thanks again for all the prayers and caring.... y'all are the best!   Shirley  Have a wonderful evening.  :xoxo:

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I was last in last night and now I'm first in this morning.

I have to go up the ladder sometime today so wish me luck on that one.  I almost forgot that I have to get my setup for catching "drips" out of the attic before the insulation goes in.  I think I'll see if my friend is home when I get back from work and she can stand by and take things as I hand them down.  That way I won't have to come down the ladder carrying anything.

Carol, I noticed you asked what kind of candy I make.  I'll try to remember.  I make all the family favorites plus some that I like and nobody else does.  There's the chocolate dipped peanut butter saltines (Everyone loves them so I make lots).  I make mini peanut butter cups and mine coconut cups...also a few mint cups and raspberry cream cups.  Then there are chocolate pretzels for my nephew in law and my son, PB Ritz for my grandniece.  They're made with all natural PB because of a dietary problem.  I also make gumdrops in3 flavors and I forget what else.

Better get this posted and go get ready for work.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Good morning everyone..

A gentle rain this morning here.. I have a day of playing catch up on thing that didn't get done yet net to be done. Recipes and quilt patterns put into plastic sleeves and put away.. ..a few bills that need filing  too.

Shirley, I would get your chimney and fireplace checked out by a professional. We do clean the chimney  twice a year for the wood and we get a professional to check the oil furnace and chimney. He said if we ever had a problem (fire) the insurance company asks did you maintain it and if not they may not help you. So for peace of mind we do get this done. Nothing beats wood heat and I am so lucky to be able to cook off of mine too.

Gloria, I worked in a donut shop and this one young lad maybe 4 yrs old came with his Dad. The Dad was our milk delivery man and while he was filling up the cooler I get the young fellow what most of the kids ate.....a vanilla sprinkle donut...…..he said ……...no thank you. Hmm so I tried the next best donut...double chocolate with chocolate sprinkles...…….he said no thank you. Asked him to pick out HIS favorite and he picked out a LEMON filled donut with all that powdered sugar on it!!He knew what he wanted :)) I thought that was so cute and his Mom and I still talk about it today.

Jane be careful going up that ladder...do you think your son would have a moment to do that for you?

I slept in again...….this is becoming a habit :)

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning, slept late and I do mean late, almost 10am.  No time to chat much before CNA gets here.

AMY  I think DD ruined their lemon DD's when they started putting a thick chocolate frosting on them, I would scrape it off.

Hi Everyone.   It is another beautiful day here in South Carolina.  We are suppose to get up to 78 this afternoon.  The maintenance man did a very good job of pressure washing and even washed out sidewalk.  The columns that were painted look very nice.  There are three little jobs he has left to do.  He put a new threshold strip on the bottom of our front door and now we can hardly get it opened or closed.  He fixed the gate hinge but it needs some more adjustment and he is fixing the top of the two end columns on our front porch so the birds cannot build nest there.  At noon time today we are taking Scott with us to eat at the Honey from the Rock Buffet over in Augusta.  This is his last day of vacation and is also his wedding anniversary, which is always a hard day for him.  I did get a very good nights sleep and plan on just taking it easy today as yesterday did a couple of things that brought on severe angina attacks.  Fortunately they didn't last long but they always leave me feeling extra tired, which may be from taking the nitro tablets.

Joy, your aunt must have made great fruitcakes.  That is something that Pat has never tried and we have never had one that had been soaked in wine.  The trick or treaters will also have a nice night here.

Jane, happy to see that your will be getting the insulation done before the really cold weather sets in. I hope you will notice a big difference in your home both summer and winter.

Amy,  it sounds like you were a dynamo yesterday with all that you did from working with the word to washing and waxing your vehicle.

Callie, probably a good idea to get the outside decorations up while the weather is good.  Our outside decorations will consist of a door wreath that I got last year and I will put it up after Thanksgiving.  I've decided I can't deal with the ceramic vase I had on my porch as it was lifting it and putting it in the garage yesterday that brought on the angina attack yesterday morning.  We have seen a lot of changes in the football conferences over the years.  Having grown up in Missouri and then in adulthood living there for nine years I followed the football teams of Missouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska.  I help our housekeeper the same way you do by staying out of her way.  I do try to have make desk surface de-cluttered as well as my little side table.

Jenny, it sounds like you are having some pretty typical weather with snow one day and then in the 80's the next.  We are fortunate in that our housekeeper is willing to wash our windows.  They are the type that tip in so isn't too hard.  She does them over several visits rather than all at once. We have an electric fireplace that produces absolutely no heat and we have had it on only for a few short times, usually to show it to someone.  Sorry you couldn't get the lemon donuts.

Carol, Pat washed up the hummingbird feeder yesterday and I stored it away for the winter as it appears the hummingbirds may have left this area.  If not they will have to find somewhere else to eat as our cafeteria is closed.  We had the digging and placement of the fiber optic cable in our neighborhood just a few weeks ago and I see them doing the same work in other neighborhoods.  They have yet to come and replace the half of the sidewalk at the edge of my yard.  At least they left an alert cone in place to warn of the cutout sidewalk.  There is still half of it left.  I wonder how long it will be before they start offering the service in our area.  We should have only six more days of those political calls until they start up again.  Like you I have an Atlanta area code so get only the Georgia calls, none of which I will answer.  I do get the political ads in the mail from the South Carolina politicians but they go immediately into the waste basket.

Shirley, you and I sing from the same page with regards to what I what and like to eat.  I honestly don't know whether the heart wouldn't be doing its work but the tubes help get the fluids out that cause more strain on it.  I can relate to the tubes as remember my first heart surgery when I was in cardiac intensive care for 7 days and then had undetected fluid problems for about 8 weeks.  Once the fluid was found and removed I began to recover quickly. About the only thing I remember from the CCU was there was this big old machine I was hooked up to and it seemed like the nurses were constantly ripping open tubing packages and changing tubing. I was kept pretty well drugged up during that time.  That was over 30 years ago and I am still around and enjoying life. I wasn't nearly as sick as it sounds like Andy was but there have been a lot of improvements in cardiac care over the many years.  It has been a long time since I had any German Chocolate cake.  I think I loved the special topping the most.  Our days of Pat making big meals is unfortunately over and we have no specific plans for either Thanksgiving or Christmas.  I don't bother trying to block numbers as the robo calls and scammers have unlimited numbers to use to call with so I feel it is a waste of my time.  So sorry about your son having to fight termites.

Gloria, I never scrapped the frosting off of any donut but don't think I have had chocolate on a lemon donut.

My son just called asking if we could reschedule lunch to perhaps tomorrow as he had been contacted by a recruiter who has a good lead for him for a very well paying job and he needed to update his resume for the job.

Larry, that is good news about Scott being contacted by a recruiter for a good paying job.  Tom updates his resume often but I don't know what I'd do if he were offered and accepted a better paying job.  He is so flexible in his present work that I can make medical appointments almost any time and he's available to take me.  However, if he was offered a good job elsewhere, I'd sell this place and go with him.  That is, as long as I would be physically able to go.  I know I should not live alone, but he is gone often enough that I can stay alone during the day with no trouble.

I don't know if we have fiber optic cable or not, but I'd say not, unless it was put in before 1981 when I moved here.  When I first moved to this condo, I couldn't even get cable and I'd have a Mickey Mouse arrangement in the family room and we had to sit quietly, holding an extension cord in our hand to see anything - if at all.  When I finally got it, we found they had not put it into the living area, only in my bedroom where I did not want it.  Norm and a friend got it so it worked in the family room and at a later time got it to my computer room and that is where I watch what TV I watch.  Tom hooked up to the connection in the family room and that is where he watches mainly football.  The living room outlet had about a 3-4 ft piece of cable in the wall that was not connected to anything.  To put it there, we'd have to go through my neighbor's attic.  I've had good neighbors who probably would have said 'yes' but I never asked them as I don't want TV in the living area.

I used to make fruitcakes, nothing elaborate, but from a spice cake mix and citron.  I would make it about now and soak cheesecloth in rum and wrap the cheesecloth around the cakes that I made in loaf tins.  I would make some cookies too and send plates of each to some of the workers in the warehouse to thank them for all the work they did for our department.

I think the Big 10 is still called the Big 10, however, I think there are about 12 members in it now.  I know Penn State is one and is Nebraska in the Big 10?  I just read the headlines, so I really don't know what is going on.

It will be so nice when the political ads are over on TV and I don't get more political calls on the phone.  However, it won't be long before the calls and ads start up for 2020.  I recognize area code 202 from DC and 517 from Lansing for Michigan candidates.  I have already voted so it is useless to try to sway me in one direction or the other.  I split my ticket where I could.

I'm home from work and ready to do something.  Now, if I could just decide what?

It's also a beautiful day in Central PA.  The sun decided to shine this morning and it's still out there.  The temp is in the low 60s so not bad!

There was a message on my phone from the insulation guy narrowing down the time tomorrow to "right after lunch".  I'm ready!

🎃🎃🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃 🎃🎃

We have sunshine with snow glistening like diamonds on our planets and trees!  It is a beautiful sight!

LARRY, I am sorry Scott will not be joining you today for lunch, but taking a rain check is totally worth it if he can get a better job!  Wish him the best of luck! I was pretty proud when the sun shined on my clean windows this morning and there was not a streak in sight!

MARYANN, when  I used to make fruit cake there was no soaking cheese cloth with rum, rather I would just pour a little rum over the top of the cake!  The rum part was the only part of a fruit cake I liked!

We will be going to Dr. Dave’s tonight for a early dinner of Michele’s DELICIOUS traditional macaroni and cheese casserole before the kids all head out and we pass out the hand out to the little trick or treaters.  We live in a gated senior community so we never have one single trick or treater come to our door!

GLORIA, I can’t even imagine why anyone would frost a lemon donut with chocolate frosting....but then, I am NOT a chocolate liker at all!

AMY, that was one smart little guy at the donut shop!  Cute story.

Oh, I almost forgot to say....

STAY OFF OF THAT LADDER, JANE.  Please let the insulation man get it down for you before he begins his job! PLEASE!

GOTTA GO make some hay while the sun shines!  I am burning daylight!

Good afternoon.  Just stopping by to say Hello!

I have been busy for several hours going through a pile of papers.....  mail, catalogs, medical papers, etc.  I don't know how all this just piles up so fast.  I tend   not to open up stuff that I know is junk mail.  But, I was a little lax in going through things while I was recuperating.  I get so  many catalogs that I don't hardly even look at.  I usually block out  my name and address and tie a bunch of them together to put in the recycling bin.

I  will have a busy day tomorrow, so not sure if I will get in here or not.  So, hope everyone will have a nice First day of November. !!!!

Joy

Hm, very interesting. I followed directions, and that was it.

I am tired. Lost a long post out there in cyber space I guess.Best part of my day was this morning, when I went down to hear my Gary lead us in Bible studies. Went to lunch, came home, lay down, opened book, woke up and the afternoon was gone.

Hope all is well with all of you, my beloved Soda Shoppers. God grant we will meet again on the morrow.

I'm off to Dreamland, too.  I have some "hiding of stuff" to do in the morning before I have men traipsing up and down my Hall.  Also need to take trash to dumpster and do an errand or two in town.  I don't know how much I'll be around tomorrow to post but I'll stop in to say  good morning before it gets busy.

Sleep well my friends and wake refreshed.
