Good Morning Everyfriend!  Something strange happened here so before I go on forever, I'm going to try posting this.

Well, it seems to have worked OK and if this is something new....I LIKE IT!  I can see what I'm typing so much better.

ROLEY, I find myself going in circles too and I have the use of both hands and both feet.  I think it's my brain that causes the circles.

I've been up for a while and I'm trying to ignore the things on my list for today.  I'm trying to fill out an application and I find they've changed the Wal-Mart Associate website.  You can only access it if you have the WM APP.  I don't do apps because I can't read what comes up on my phone.  Now they tell me that if I don't do the app, I can't get on to the website at home.  I have to do everything at the store....on the clock!  That's impossible while I'm running a register.  I really can't understand why everything has to be so difficult.  What I really need is one of my grandkids to move in with me for about a month and teach me all this stuff.

I guess I better get back to my list.  If I don't, nothing will get done and I'll end up feeling LAZY.  Enjoy your day, everyfriend.

Good morning everyone, finally a bit of sun this morning. So tired of the damp weather. Can't seem to get warm so stay inside, not going out for a walk either.

PHYLLIS  like you id you could see all the food I have here you would think I was deprived at one time. I have enough stocked for several people but I have no appetite. You are right I will not have to move unless the witch thinks I am destroying my apartment or break one of her rules.

AMY  YOU STILL HAVE  5 POUND BAGS OF SUGAR AND FLOUR? Here it has been 6 or 7 years since we only get 4 pound bags at the price of the 5 pounds.

SHIRLEY  you cannot hate the litterbox job but who has such a soft heart for stray cats?

BUBBLE  love your graphics and your quotes are so true. In this building there are a few who do not socialize with anyone, we hardly see them and to me that is no way to spend a life.

JANE  Just like when we order something and then they want our opinion of what we bought. Fill our the form and near the bottom they want to know all about you. I will not fill out things like that. Everything changes and not for the better either.

Better go get dressed for the day, my son will be here soon. Have a good day.

Jane, I know exactly what you are talking about!  Just when I think I have these computers & phone "lined up" something gets an update or needs one and I don't know what to do. So frustrating. I do not know the terms/words to understand what "they" want.  :tissue: Good luck!

Cold & we have a weather alert for today, ice/snow or whatever & that lazy wind (thanks, Amy, for that explanation).... just not a nice day out. Everyone has had breakfast & I am thinking about crawling back into bed before getting dressed. May sleep in until spring shows up for good.

Good morning, Peter.... would love to have some of those "fish & chips" like I ate when in England. I would always order cod & 6 pence of chips that they wrapped in newspaper & I would eat on the walk home. Quite a hike from downtown Marlow to the top of the hill where the house we lived in sat. We had the attic flat, up 3 flights of steps in a mansion that was  divided into 3 houses, the one end "house" was converted into 5 flats. The owner that converted the place lived in flat #1 that had rooms on all 3 levels. My husband found the place online years ago, changed completely, of course, but still was rental apartments. What was beautiful rolling hills surrounding is now filled with houses. Would love to see the town again.

Hi Everyone.  Just checking in again today.  I finally had to admit to myself yesterday that I am pretty sick and the chance of getting much better aren't very good.  I don't mean this to sound pessimist for I certainly have hope that I am wrong.  Yesterday I had Pat bring in from the garage the little rollator we have and I am finding it helpful.  Using my arms and legs seem to really tire me and bring on the panting from shortness of breath that sometimes I have trouble getting to stop.  I tell you this not to generate sympathy for myself but that you may better understand why I will probably seldom add any other general comments in these discussions.  If you see me check in each day you know I am still around.  I will read all of your postings each day.  Thank you for your prayers and thoughts.

Larry, I read and understand but will keep cheering you on. This is one place where we can be honest with ourselves and everyone else. I do admire how you've handled your condition so long and know you are tired, we all care, you know that, so whatever it takes, stop in and let us know how you, Pat & Scott are doing. I'm still hoping that when  you get rested up you will be back for longer talks.  :smitten:

Bubble, love the graphics & funnies. I have a photo taken by my brother of me, my sister & couple neighbor kids at the end of the old covered bridge, must have been in the early to mid '40s. The bridge burned down long ago.

June & anyone else having strange things going on, I just got notifications about comments I made as far back as December, in my mail box.  Somebody is playing with the site, maybe Michael is up to doing changes?   :o

Can't get started today, going to warm up another cup of coffee & have a strawberry toaster pop... recently re-discoverd them. THINK SPRING!

A late Good Morning, Everyfriend.

According to the Update forum,  Michael has done a few things.  One I'm noticing is that I didn't have to type between the brackets when I set the Bold/Size 3 type for my post.  It just started out that way.  I like that!!!!

Shirley,  Miss Emily called last night. Overland Park had had 4 inches of snow in 24 hours.

We were supposed to wake up to sleet and "light icing" yesterday morning but the water in my bird bath didn't even have a coating of ice.  Still gloomy and very cold, though.  This is getting tiresome.

Larry,  I also admire your admitting that you aren't "what you used to be".  We'll be cheering you on and looking forward to seeing you when you feel like posting.

Janie,  I'm with you on all this stuff we're suppose to do on our cell phones.  I only use mine for texting and the calculator.  Friends know not to call that number because I'll probably manage to "decline" the call instead of answering it.

Couldn't shut down my mind last night and get to sleep.  Finally drank some Chamomile tea and relaxed enough to drop off - which meant I slept very very late this morning. Fortunately,  there's nothing I have to do and nowhere I need to go.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.  Stay warm!

Well - looks as if the Bold didn't "take" and I don't see the line of icons to make this Edit a size 3.  Oh, well.

Yes,  Callie, things are different here this morning.

I am just making an appearance. It has been a slow morning so far.  Had all kinds of plans when I first got up, but they went by the wayside.  So, it is now after lunch, and I am not further along than I was several hours ago.

It does seem when I get on the computer,  that it does help me to get myself moving better.

So, while I am motivated, I will get on with some of my plans.

Larry, I am sorry to read your message this morning, but do appreciate your stating just how you feel.  I have you in my thoughts and prayers.  And, I hope that maybe, you will see some improvement shortly. We all have you in our thoughts, I know.

Will try to check back later.  I want to see how this turns out when I post it.  My writing has shown up in blue, but don't know how that happened.

Larry, we are all in that area where nothing seems to work the way it did when we were in our 40's -50's but we just have to accept that. You are amazing in all that you do , now it is time for others to do for you.
Stopping in to say hi to everyone makes our day  better, no need to write a lot , just say hi.

Roley, you should have seen the size of the fish!!! They serve on huge dinner plates and the fish was bigger than the plate!  I managed to eat the fish but didn't make it through the chips so they came home to feed the crow. :)

Gloria, our sugar is in 2 kg. bags which is 4.4 lbs Still a good deal.

We had a great time today, weather was perfect, store was like a can of sardines but I got in and out in jig time.
Now to rest......maybe..  Went over to the bakery and picked up 4 cream puffs, two for us and two for our neighbours. I sure don't feel like moving too far with all that food in me.

I chose my usual, bold, size 4 and Navy, and this is what I see. so, i will just go ahead and post. I slept away most of the morning. Had a light breakfast and  back to sleep. I like this type that I can read..wonder how it prints out. Keeps us on our toes doesn't it ? Still having a lot of hard breathing even  after the albuteral and oxygen.

Larry, dear friend, sounds like you and I are walking the same path. My problem is lungs, yours is heart, but one can't function without the other, so we will do the best with what we have, and know that we are not alone.God is right here beside us, giving us just enough to type a few greetings, and know we are not alone in our ailments. I send you a commiserating big hug.

I'm going to put a small pizza in the microwave and call it lunch. I had a  banana and tiny donut for breakfast.....coffee too  of course.

Enough of this patter..I do like the large print. Lets see what happens when I click on post.

Good afternoon from another stormy day in the Mile High City.  We started out with sunshine, but this storm moved in FAST and it is snowing like crazy.  I know we need the moisture and I am thankful we are getting it, HOWEVER my psyche says, "I REALLY need some sunshine in my life right now"❣️❣️

Yesterday went very well for Michele medically. They hit three areas in her brain with the gamma knife. Our day spent with the grands was great.  We played all kinds of games and everyone laughed and enjoyed each other's company. We did spend the night Thursday, as a storm was predicted and we did not want to take a chance on having any problems getting down to Dave's.  A friend of Dave and Michele brought in a wonderful meal for all of us, and we had a pleasant Valentines Evening.  Yesterday Dave and Michele had to leave the house at 6 AM to get to the gamma knife appointment.  The procedure did not take much over three quarters of an hour but all of the preparation took a couple of hours, then the recovery time.  Then on their way towards home they had a appointment with the oncologist......this is the same oncologist Michele had before.  When he came in the door he announced, "everything is GOOD news", which immediately put them at ease.  She will see another oncologist this coming Thursday, and then together they will make a treatment plan.  The first thing she will have to do is get a port put in before any treatment starts.  Then they are thinking 12 treatments of chemo, done every two weeks.  After this is complete they will she how much the tumor in the lung has shrunk.  If it has, then that will be all of the chemo, but in the end they will go in and still remove that section of her lung.  I did not like this thought, but I know they are taking every precautionary measure that they have it all.  My final comment is Michele continues to be super positive and refuses to let this cancer get her down😤😤🙏

I must admit, I did have a bit of a thought of, "and this is ALL good news"?  Shame on me, as I know as bad as all of this treatment sounds it it IS all good news, as it is ALL treatable and it could be so much worse......

Thank you, BUBBLE for our nice new SS to post in.

LARRY, I can not help but feel sad and down to read your most honest post of your thought on your current health situation. Your honesty is appreciated and we do understand that you have to face reality, however with our continued positive thoughts and prayers for you, I certainly hope you can continue to take a less active roll in life so that you will have a good long time left to share time with us.  HUGS to you❣️

I must run, but I want you all to know tha5 I enjoy each and every one of your posts and I hope you all enjoy a good rest of your day.

Jenn

Just got back from the store... had to run the defroster & wipers, since below freezing I'm not sure what to call it. Certainly not those big fluffy snow flakes I was wishing for. Had a very nice trip, well, not so much the trip but the discovery in the store. I had forgotten we had Valentine Day this week but discovered on one shelf "Buy one, get one free"... my fav candy, Russell Stover turtles... oh, yum. Usually one of my kids will slip me a box but they are all into the health food craze right now, got to admire them but no fun to eat with anymore.  :-\  I had dessert first so better think about "what's for supper".

Jenn, I am amazed at Michele's attitude, what a wonder. Prayers as long as needed to keep that girl healthy to be an inspiration to her family and everyone that knows her. Thanks for sharing her ordeal with us, sure makes my aches & pains look tiny in comparison. I do check the Monarch Pass web cam & then Salida & Buena Vista.... the pass has gotten a lot more than the lower levels so hope it won't be a fire year.

Amy, my mouth waters at the sound of your fish..... afraid we do not get good fish here, too far from the coast. ALL of the frozen fish that is unbreaded (in stores & Sam's Club) comes from China and I don't want their fish. So little actual fish meat in the breaded types. My butcher told me he can get the Pacific Northwest fish.... at about 4 times the price. One of those things we have to tolerate living in the heart of the country where cattle, hogs & chickens are raised. It is a sight to see when driving across the Flint Hills of Kansas, all the cattle grazing on those rolling hills. Not so pleasant sight or smell when driving past huge feed lots. barf-barf :P Like you, anything I can't eat goes to feed critters, just can't put into trash when it can nourish something.

June, looks like the size & colors are behaving today~

I'd share my pecan turtles with all of you if you lived closer. You never mention if you like sweets..... we all know Lloyd does. I still love the salty snacks, came home with Cheetos... is that not a BAD Shirley?  :-[   Better go eat my supper before I trip over another turtle.

SHIRLEY, I can relate with you regarding family members that ONLY eat healthy foods...... I do have to be careful of many things, but we all need a treat sometimes.  I hope you had some dinner before you FELL over another turtle! Thank you for your kind wishes for Michele.  I just checked and the conditions in Eagle are not good and they are worsening.....Kurt and Family will not leave Dallas until 7 something tonight which means the worsening of the weather conditions are a big concern.

Sorry JANE, i hear your scream all the way here in the Rocky Mountains.....so upsetting when we loose a post.  It happens to all of us, so we all can understand your frustration.

Peter, I enjoyed the link and was remembering the "spinney" that led from what I think is now called Tower House but simply Highfields and Highfields Court back in the mid 1950s. That path had holly along one side, something I had never seen in central Missouri where I grew up. It was quite a long walk to the town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire, but I walked it almost daily. A Google search shows that whole area is now filled with houses. I think I gave my daughter (born at the US Base Hospital in '56) all the photos taken of the house & area, when I sent her home with her baby book after her first child was born. Wonderful memories and your link stirred them up. Thank you.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm going to try this again.  I don't remember what I said yesterday but I think part of it was a tribute to Michele and all your family, JENNY!  You certainly are handling what could be a miserable situation with the best of spirits.  Michele is probably one of those people that I'd really like t know....as are the rest of you.  I remember meeting you, JENNY in Williamsport (I think) at a Bash.  I liked you then and I still do.

I'll be off to get my shower and get ready for church while we wait out the doggies pill.  That will be the beginning of my day.  I have a few things on my list that will be done today....I hope!  They include a stop at my son's house to make some copies on his copier.  Hopefully , Kiran will be there and we can have a visit.

Thanks, Roley, for the visit to England.  I always love your contributions.  They make me feel like I've had a short vacation in a lovely place.

I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way!

Just a quick note to let you know I'm still here.  Son David and I both picked up a "bug".  He felt bad last night and is still sleeping.  I hope he is better today.  I was up and down all night.  I guess I have a stomach bug and just don't feel very good.  Even coffee doesn't taste good!  I'm going to the recliner and just wait it out.  Talk to you later.

Good morning everyone..

Another lovely day here sunny -18° F now I know  why it was so chilly when I was out with the dogs at 11:30 and 4:30!!

A day of rest here, I may go play in my sewing room a bit.

Jenny, my husband had 12 chemo treatments, that seems to be the "magic" number. Michele is a strong lady and will pull through all of this. Prayers for all. I bet your Grands had a lot of fun too!

Shirley, I love fish but the freshest we have had was when we were east in Nova Scotia. I was telling a lady that the fish I cooked broke up into pieces and she said that it was just caught that morning and in the grocery store in the afternoon!!

Phyllis hope both you and your son feel better soon. Ginger all helps sooth the tummy.

Bubble, thank you, don't you just want to reach out and hug Santa Don??

Jane, seems my get up and go got up and went without me today.
You seem endless in your energy!

I had better go get ready for the day, at some point and time the neighbour is coming over to finish up on his skidoo.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, 20° but with wind feels like 14 so will stay inside again. Snow in the forecast agina starting around midnight, a possible 5 inches, if we get that it will be the most so far this winter. About time we got some snow that is pretty. Will not go out to enjoy it though, guess that means I am finally too old to enjoy it.  ;)

SHIRLEY  you make me glad I have one computer, a simple tracfone-flip phone. I did try a smart phone twice and gave up. Still have a landline and still hate talking on a phone.

LARRY  I am glad you are using the rollator, Much better for saving a bit of your energy. As long as you post every day just to say hello we will know you are OK. Prayers for you ongoing.

CALLIE  for the first time I did not have to log in this morning, that was a pain the the neck. I have a notepad saved on the desktop with that code on it and just pull it up every morning and use it to type on.

JOY  I now never plan what I want to do in a day, just do what I feel like doing or not.

AMY I was looking through my favorite recipes yesterday and came across my recipe for cream puffs and for a cooked filling for them. They are not hard to make but doubt my CNA could make them, I don't think she ever baked any goodies.

JUNE  seems like most of us have something wrong these days. The joys of living so long?

JENNY  just saw on the news the big car pile up in Denver. I hope none of your family and friends were stuck in the mess. I will keep Michele in my prayers that the chemo gets rid of the monster in her.

SHIRLEY  like you I love those turtles, then again I love any kind of chocolates. I have a sweet tooth or maybe all my teeth love sweets.

PETER  would have loved to take that walk years ago. Loved hiking through the woods. Nice seeing some green there, I am so tired of this winter and long for spring to get here.

JANE  hope you get everything done you want to today.

PHYLLIS  hope you nap while in your recliner and wake feeling much better.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link to Don's pictures. Boy he is the perfect one to look like Santa. I pray his health is improving. Wonderful link. Would have loved going there.

Have a great  day.

Hello again, Everyfriend!  I've been o church and the doggies are all tended to for the morning.  I'm going to wait until after lunch to go to my son's.  I have 3 things I think he will be able to help me do.

I also have a box of stuff accumulated while Kiran was spending her after school days with me.  I'm going to take it over there and give it to her to look through.  She can save what she wants and toss the rest.

Someone said they envied me my energy.  I don't have it.  But I have found over the years that if I have an ongoing list, I accomplish more.  Without a list, I just sit around and vegetate.  Also, looking at the list at the end of the day give me a feeling of accomplishment.  Even if there are leftovers for tomorrow, I can actually see what I've done.

Now i'm off to see what I can do before I leave.  Enjoy your day.  Grab it and make it your own.  Feel better. Be happy. Love and be loved.

Hi Everyone.  Just checking to for today. I don't think I feel up to going to my office this morning so will spend it in my easy chair and resting in bed this afternoon for awhile and then back to my easy chair.  I got the replacement Chromebook yesterday but have decided I am just not up to getting it set up and learning the Chromebook operating system.  So I will repay the cost of the return to Amazon and just chalk it up to not being one of my better decisions.

Please don't feel that you need to mention me each day since I am not contributing anything to the discussion.  I will try to post something each day so you won't worry about me.  I plan on being around for quite awhile but seem to be getting a bit weaker each day so looking forward to a turn around.

Bubble, that is the way my #1 son likes to camp.... he has all the light weight equipment ever made and carries the meals you just add water to. I'm not a hiker & prefer sleeping in a camper with "hard" sides (not a tent or open air). Haha, my king size bed has a 4" memory foam mattress over the mattress & screens on the windows! Son also has 2 campers to pull behind a car & a large conversion van when his wife goes along. Love the video, thanks!

Gloria, I'm giving up on snow, "they" keep predicting but it doesn't hit us. The sun is bright but still only 28° with feels like 14. Looked warm to the cats so Tom & Callie went out, Tom came back in & is snoring in his bed right behind my chair. Callie is sunning & cleaning her pretty white fur right outside the door. I need a nap but trying to stay awake to go to Sam's Club for a chicken for the cats. I like to get them fresh out of the ovens and think I will de-bone the whole chicken right away & freeze part of it. They are getting so spoiled they don't like it after a few days.... not fresh enough. They also love fresh hamburger so will get a big pack to make into patties with wax paper between so I can peel off one at a time from the freezer, for them or me!  I get the extra lean so makes a nice meal with steak seasoning & nice helping of mashed potatoes. I found the instant ones aren't bad as long as I use half milk with the water, & plenty of real butter. Guess I'd better eat again before going to Sam's or I'll come home with way too much food! I also need bananas & Gatorade... I was having leg cramps & this stuff works!

Larry, sorry the Chrome book didn't work. My daughter practically sleeps with hers but like you, I don't want to learn how to use anything else, my brain is overloaded!

Phyllis, my gr-son was at church with the 7 year old & the 5 year old but the little one was sick from 2:30 am on... couldn't keep anything down, not even water. Mom stayed home with her because gr-son was scheduled to usher. With 3 kids they bring every germ in the county home.

I had better get a move on, stopped to visit with Don & watched the Scotland hike, read all of these posts & not sure where I posted or what I said!   :crazy2: Hugs to all... :smitten:

Larry, telling us to not mention or care for your well being is like telling the stars not to shine, snow not to fall or the rivers not to flow. You are a part of "us" here. Just because you are not up to posting much is ok......just say hi please when you feel up to. Prayers coming your way as always.

LARRY, I'm with AMY.  Asking us to ignore someone is contrary to why we are here.  You've one of us.  We care for ALL our friends.

I too, loved the hike.  I've taken many of the over the years with my Girl Scouts and we've camped in some places that looked very much like that place.  Backpacking was a big interest to the older girls and they needed adults to go with them.  I went!  I loved it!  We walked all over the Appalachian mountains in PA and lots of the mountains in north central Wyoming.  I have some great memories!

Have a good rest of the day'

Lloyd, since we did the same as you so many times & would find ourselves back home almost before we left. I now pick out a campground ahead of time to aim for. I make reservations if possible but when I am pretty sure they are not over crowded (like middle of the week), I don't make reservations & claim squatters rights if the site is not reservable (some are and some are not in National Forests).

On the road I do appreciate Walmart parking lots & feel safer there than most other places.... but been hearing about NOT staying in ones that are "not in a safe part of town". I doubt if anyone would try to pick on you but this little old lady doesn't look like she could swat a fly (little do they know about the Ruger or Baretta in my purse). Do hope y'all can go south soon. Remember, stop early enough to enjoy the scenery & do some walking. Check that Atlas from Walmart & look for STATE Parks or County parks in states you drive through. We have found some really nice ones. I stay in a state park on the west side of Jefferson City when I want to go to a family reunion in that part of the state. Really nice with all hook ups & not far from plenty of places to eat. All depends on what you want to do. For me, I just want the woods & critters out my windows & not any of the commercial places.

Good Morning everyone, Not sure if i an up for the day yet or not. another confuting weather report says 18º and cloudy and same breath says partly sunny
I guess depends on where you are. Shirley when we were traveling in the R V we were Parked in a wallmart parking lot way out back and the local police ran us off. told us to move on down to a truck stop we did was about 40 miles
on further. and we had before parking went inside and bought food supply's and talked to the lady assistant Manager she had told us where we could park, but guess the manager gave the order to move on, so we did. got up un dressed under the wheel and drove on to truck stop. in the further I will talk to the store manager and see i he /she will give a written sighend statement first.
see you all later. I think i will go back for some more zzz's

What a day yesterday!  I had said in my last post that David was not feeling well and though he thought it was nothing serious we ended up in the Emergency Room with what the EMS thought might be a heart attack.  He got up yesterday morning still not feeling well and suffering from severe pain in his neck.  I was talking to him in the kitchen and he had what I thought was a seizure.  He rallied within a half-minute so so and then lost consciousness again.  I called 911 immediately but couldn't seem to get through.  Probably because I was not pushing the right button.  Within just a minute, or less, my phone rang and it was the 911 dispatcher calling me back.  I gave him all the information that he requested and he had me stay on the line until EMS arrived.  The closest Fire Dept. first responders were here in about 5 minutes.  And then the EMS arrived a few minutes later...they are based further away so that is why they came after the Fire Dept.  They hooked him up to all kinds of machines but couldn't be sure what was the problem but thought he might be having a heart attack.  Within minutes he was in the ambulance and being transferred to Rex Hospital which has a highly rated Cardiac Care center.  A neighbor called when she saw the ambulance and while I was frantically trying to think how I could get myself to the hospital and she came within a few minutes and drove me to the hospital.  I'll never be able to thank her enough for helping me!  To make story short....after going through all kinds of scans and tests it was decided he did not have a heart attack nor did he have another stroke...which is what I was afraid of.  Apparently the neck pain was so severe it caused him to pass out from a Vasovagal attack in which the blood pressure drops drastically causing a faint.  The hospital ER doctor gave him a couple of Rx for pain and muscle relaxer and sent him home.  After taking the first of the medications he went to sleep...and so did Mom.  Both of us stressed and exhausted...and grateful to God that it was not as serious as first thought.  He is still sleeping this morning but seems to have had a quiet night.  I slept pretty well considering my brain was still going a mile-a-minute.  But, thank God for first responders and caring neighbors!  Just when I thought there was no-one I could ask for help so many people were there when I needed them....current good neighbors, previous neighbor who keeps in touch with me still, and son in No. Virginia who was ready to make a more than 5 hour trip to get here. And, of course, the fire dept. and EMS people who came so quickly.  But, most of all, God who kept us in the palm of his hand.

Sorry, I have made such a long post.

Good morning everyone.

Calling for snow today but I don't think there will be a lot to deal with. I do know I need to wash floors  and do something with all the whey from making yogurt yesterday. Some I will freeze for later and some will go into bread ,Babe will get some  but I don't think Jesse should.

Lloyd, did you tell the officer that she had said you could park there? Usually one can park at an out of the way spot. Maybe he was having a tough day :(

Gloria, these had been dipped like a honey dipped donut, making it way too sweet. The ones I had before were just plain and then filled will cream.

Neighbour is coming over to put the finishing touches on his skidoo. I am sure he is getting frustrated at working on it.

Phyliss, sounds like you need a hug. What a time you both had yesterday and yes thank God it wasn't a heart attack. I have been in your shoes with my husband and ambulance rides and yes neighbours are truly God's angles  I don't know what I  would do without ours. Good day to just take it easy if you can, you have had enough excitement to last you all week!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm a little short of time this morning and I wasn't going to post but I must.

PHYLLIS, you have been through an ordeal!  If we had known then, prayers would have been with you.  Mine for any day are "Dear God, if any of my friends need you today, please be with them."  That was directed at you yesterday.  God knew!  Now I pray that all goes well and you and David are both quickly recovered.

I'm off to Wally World to greet my public.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Phyllis, my heart stopped as I read your post. What a terrifying time! You did good, all the right things and held yourself together. I'm proud of you and grateful for your good neighbors & fast responders. You will be in my thoughts & prayers as I go through the day. Nice to know you are tougher than you thought, right?  But maybe you feel like a "wet dish rag" about now?  Hugs...

Lloyd, we do go inside to talk to the manager before parking overnight, they suggest where they would prefer we park. In CO we see a dozen or more RVs parked around the edge of the Walmart parking lot, in Sedalia usually I am alone. One time when I found the campground closed because of flooding, the Warsaw Walmart was packed overnight! The Sedalia & Warrensburg Walmarts have a gas station on the edge so I go inside to buy a hundred dollar gift card to get a little off per gallon, but use the whole card to fill up, besides what I spend on groceries & other things. The cats go from window to window to watch the activity & feel safe (as I do), with doors locked, safer than in a motel room by myself!

Cats are all still sleeping so I'd better get a move on. We are expecting snow tomorrow again & want to go to the store for more Gatorade, it stopped the leg cramps & I am out. I have an eye appointment tomorrow so will call to make sure the doctor gets in before I leave the house. Winter is not over but so far all we have had is the cold wind & some ice/sleet.

Good morning everyone. We did get snow last night, cannot tell what is going on outside now. This is the prettiest snow we have had this year, not much but it is very white and the pines and hemlocks have a layer of snow on them and look beautiful. 27° now and not supposed to get above freezing today.

LARRY  even if you cannot post each day it will not stop us from mentioning you and praying for you. You are a part of this family and always will be.

SHIRLEY  I keep looking for a snow storm like we used to get, at least 10 inches every time and 2 feet was normal. Now people get upset with a few inches of snow. My daughter sent me a picture last night that her husband took of her standing out in the snow. Yes the snow finally came down to their level in the mountains and they had some snow. She has been sending me some photos of the snow on the mountains and getting lower in each one.

PHYLLIS  what a terrible time you had but glad everything worked out. The fire dept. and the emt's are in the same building and less than a mile from here. The driver of one of the ambulances is the son of a lady across the hall from me.

AMY  I like the cooked filling I have for cream puffs better than the cream. I know I would not like anything honey dipped. way too sweet.

JANE  have a good day at Wm.

Have a good day.

Haha, Amy, something worked! I ate bananas, drank the Gatorade & everything else in sight. I don't remember who it was that recommended Gatorade a long time ago, but I like the lemon/lime. Cas used to carry it on his golf cart but I didn't like it then. Looks like I'd better get to the store before the storm moves in.... blob of clouds to the west of us. I would like to go back to sleep to make up for all I lost this last week. I think I need a week to get off this roller coaster, not that I get a lot done, but kicking myself for NOT getting done takes a lot of energy! I recall Mother talking about "how much faster time flies the older you get"...she wasn't kidding!

Gloria, I am picturing the day we were camped on southern CO when snow was falling on the mountains near... I kept taking photos as it came further down the mountain, was fascinating to watch. We boogied out of there before it moved into our area & headed for home. I would love to go back because that campground was full of enormous jack rabbits & magpies. They weren't afraid of humans, I would have loved to bring some home with me! Are "the kids" still loving their homestead?

My mother used to make a filling for cream puffs that was out of this world. One bakery here used to make them but it closed. By the time I was ready to try, she couldn't remember how she made them. Just before the bakery closed that made them, I bought 6 to share with Cas, but ate one & then another on the way home (was across town), & had only 2 left by the time I got back so "shared" with him. I ate 5 that day & my punishment was I've never found anything like them since, it was a cooked filling.  :tissue:

Good afternoon, we are having a little sleet, rain and big snowflakes.

Phyllis, so glad to read everything seems better.  When I have  panic pushed my button the police arrive right away, I think one is station outside the park. the rescue car comes, then the ambulance of course then the neighbors. no fireman. I know you are still recovering

Shirley, I know I am not a camper and neverwas. When I was a kid, we spent week ends on the beach,  they were beach shantys, pump in house, but shower and outhouse was part of what they called roughing it. The ocean ws on one side, the bays on the other.  It was and hour boat ride to get there.

SHIRLEY and AMY, I think I'm the one who told you all about the Gatorade.  My grandson Kyle was about 13 and we were at their house for dinner.  It was informal in the rec room and while we were eating and talking I stood up beside my bar stool.  When I finished what I was saying, Cathy said "Why are you standin up?"  I told her I had a cramp in my leg.  Without missing a bite, Kyle said "give 'er some Gatorade".  It's what they used on the baseball field for cramping.  It worked and I've kept green Gatorade in the cupboard ever since.  (Kyle will be 27 in April)  I know I've mentioned it here a couple of times.  It really does work!

WM wore me out today.  I'm going to go see if I can squeeze a few zzzzs out of the sofa before the doggies demand supper.  Hope everyfriend's day is going well!

Gloria de, that's sort of camping only water (with critters in) instead of woods. Sounds like fun.

Jane, thank you for being the one to suggest Gatorade, I bought some more today & like the lemon/lime type.  So glad something helped because those leg cramps even scared TigerKat when I yelled!

HELLO EVERYFRIEND❣️

The sun is currently shining but it is really chilly out there today.  We are between snow storms at the moment but rest assured there is more on the way😤😤

The Boston Family arrived in Vail late Saturday night.  They were really bushed as they started out very early in Boston, then a long lay over in Dallas before their flight to Eagle, near Vail.  Unfortunately, the youngest grandson left his small pull suitcase in security, and by the time they realized it, and Kurt went back it was no where to be seen.  All of his ski clothing were in it  plus more, so yesterday they had to rush around to buy him ski clothes.  😢🤪

PHYLLIS, I am sorry to read about the medical Situation with David, but thankful to read itwas nota heart attach or stroke.  I do hope he is feeling much better, and you are settling down from the stress.  Thankful to read that your neighbors came forth to help.

JANE, I  remember your grandsons suggestions about Gatorade for leg cramps and have shared the suggestion with others and they all have been so happy to know what will work.  I remember you and your cakes that you brought to PA for the Bash....it seems so long ago and yet I remember it vividly.  One thing I will never forget is being stuck in the elevator....the two oldest members of our group, Gladys and sadly, right now I can not recall her name, but I can see her well. They were the first two to hit the floor and climb out of that elevator.  She was a beautiful lady near the age of our Gladys but did not look her age at all.  She lived in Florida and was a caretaker for her husband.  She and I spoke on the telephone quite a lot and she was a delightful lady. Makes me sad to not remember her name.  She passed away before Gladys but near the same time.  I think any of our group that were at that Bash will agree it was a wonderful Bash.  So many  have passed on since then.😢🙏

I do wish JUNE would pop in and say HELLO also, LARRY.  IT sure makes us feel better to know you and any others that do this as well, are doing OK.  I am sorry the Chrome Book did not work out for you.

BUBBLE, loved seeing the selfies of DON.  HE does look good and must be feeling so much better.  Thank you for sharing.  I think I, too, will pass on the hiking/camping trip, but I sure enjoyed that video.  I am more up for your King sized bed in the motorhome SHIRLEY and LLOYD.  I served my time tent camping and the like.....it was fun, I will admit it, but not up for that anymore.

GLORIA, that 49 car pileup was something.... and it was shocking that there were no serious injuries, even though several did go to the hospital.  The news said no one was ticketed but this morning the paper said it was a car from Texas that caused the mess.  The cars were all headed TO the airport....some rental cars, so I sure felt bad for all of them.. No doubt someone was driving too fast for the conditions.

AMY, I am hopeful the 12 chemo treatments will take care of Michele's "monster in her", as well.  I think that is the amount she had also for her colon cancer.

It has taken me a bit to get this done....phone calls and the like, so I had best post it before it goes POOF!

Hugs and prayers for all......stay warm.

Jenn

I am sure I came in to day goodnight yesterday, but it is not here, so I probably forgot to hit Post.

It is a cool, partly cloudy 60 degrees out here on the W. coast today, so I am staying indoors. Walked the hallways, so go my blood flowing anyway. Did the morning watering of house plants, lots of napping, Haven't checked my mail yet....Gary and Dori popped in later yesterday afternoon, they helped with a special lunch at their 'Church yesterday.....such good kids. I am truly 'Blessed. Gary had repaired and returned my floor lamp, so I am happy to have it back. I didn't know he could do stuff like that.....my Mom was good at that sort of thing too.

Phyllis, what a sad day you  went through yesterday. Thank God it all turned out O.K. but it must have been great stress and worry for a time there. And now you  know you have some really good neighbors, that means a lot. your post was NOT too long girl.....it was a part of your life that needed sharing....it is how we learn from one another, and many times helps us with future things like that.

Amy, Sweety, I am here......late but slow. Body is not at it's best today, but we use the parts that work, and hope for the best.

I thought  I heard a dripping sound, and sure enough we are having a light rain. I needed to close two windows......Duh !!!!!!!

Larry, Greetings, and God's healing Blessing to you. I am having a half-hearted day today, but we are here, and it's always a treat to see you. I pray for you, and for your wife as well. She always depended strongly on you, now she must take over the reins till you heal. And I am praying for that healing my friend.

Jenny, I am here dear heart.....nursing a nosebleed while typing......these nose bleeds are a new ailment that I have recently acquired. Had them all the time as a kid, so guess  I have reached second childhood.

O.k. I think I have finished all the post, so I will try to add mine without losing it. I love you all, forever and ever, Amen. June

So happy to see your post, June, and your words of wisdom.

Tomorrow is my check up with the ophthalmologist. I'm dreading that, he insisted last year that my cataracts are "ripe" and I'm not ready to face that.  I am terrified of having them mess with my eyes as well as any medication they put in... I don't operate like most people & after Cas' disastrous cataract surgery, I may just have a heart attack instead!

Then on Wednesday I go to my regular doctor, know I have new problems that I don't want to think about so hope he can convince me I really am okay. He is good at that, the doctor I had before was constantly want to do some kind of surgery but I talked him out of it for more than 20 years when he finally retired. So I am nervous about how this check up will go.

On Friday I have my normal check up with the cardiologist, an echo this time. I will ask but he probably won't give me a "guesstimate" of how long before needing the valve replaced again. It has been 6 years & they told my son 10 years when he had his replaced a few months ago. I was told 15 years when I had my aortic valve replaced & the 3 bypasses. The kids were concerned by my being so short winded walking the hospital parking lot so not sure if anything tested will show a reason. I am not ready or willing to have another heart cath to check for blockages.

I'm reading back over & debating whether to delete or post. I will give myself a good talking to & hopefully be ready to laugh off my fears. It's supposed to snow tomorrow, only an inch or two, so that shouldn't keep me home. I do need to get out more, start painting again and join the art guild. I feel better already.

That reminds me, Gloria, is Regina still painting?

Good morning everyone.
Temp is -26° F  but on the up side we are not swatting sketters :)

We are off to the vets today Jesse gets his second set of needles and I want her to look at Babe's leg/hip. When Babe gets up from laying down she favours the leg till she gets going a  bit.  After that she is ok and runs like the wind with it......

Shirley, wishing you all the best on your appointments. The Drs have come a long way on surgery with different techniques. A lot of surgery is now keyhole surgery.

Jane ,hope you had a great night sleep.

June, hugs so glad to see your feeling a bit better..

Better get a move on here, I slept in and have things to do before we hit the road for the hour drive.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning.  And it is a good morning.  I can't remember when I have slept as well as I did last night!  David is improving and feeling better each day.  Neck pain is decreasing slowly and it is easier for him to move his head.  The medicine the ER doctor prescribed seems to be helping him. He feels good but says that the medication makes him groggy.  I told him that right now that is good because it keeps him from overdoing and makes him take it easy.

My good neighbors came by to check on us yesterday and they brought everything for dinner last night.  Once again their kindness and generosity overwhelmed me.
And your concern and best wishes makes me feel so good, too.  As June has often said, I am blessed.

My prayers for all of you that are feeling "weak and weary", as the old hymn says.  I know how comforting is the thought that others are praying for me and my family.

Life is getting back to normal and that means household laundry for today.
That is fine with me...I like "normal".

Good morning.  Amy,  I am still around.  I think I did miss a couple days, but nothing is wrong. Just  didn't have anything to talk about.

I did read some of the previous messages and  Phyllis, so glad to read that your son is doing ok. That had to be a scary time for you, but glad everything seems back to normal this morning.

Hope everyone else that have been "under the weather" are feeling good today.

I did get some good news yesterday .  I have a new little great-granddaughter, named  Marley Marie.  Unfortunately, they live in Connecticut and I won't get to see her until maybe in the summer.  But, I am sure there will be pictures soon. She is my grand daughter's second little girl.

Prediction is for a big snow storm heading our way, starting tonight and going into tomorrow for most of the day.  I was so hoping that the snow was all done for this winter. But, I know that was "wishful thinking".  Luckily, I don't have to go anywhere this week end.

I need to get some breakfast.  I woke up from a terrible dream and still trying to get it all out of my head.  My mornings are never very good to begin with, and waking up like that sure didn't help matters.  It just takes me so long to get myself oriented in the morning.

I hope everyone will have a good day.

Good morning everyone, hated to get out of my nice warm bed this morning. Moved as fast as I could to turn the heat up. Went down to 13 degrees, no wonder I felt a chill in my bones. We are not supposed to turn the heat above 68 but when it gets that cold out and windy it does get cold in here.

SHIRLEY  I got a picture from my daughter yesterday of what she saw from her kitchen window in the morning. There is a bank there and it was covered in snow. Beautiful sight to see. They got about 3 inches of snow and of course she had to bundle up and go out. Even after most of he life in San Diego and now Az. she likes to play in the snow. Her husband went out too but not for long. Wish I could make the cream puffs again with the filling recipe I have.

LARRY  that's all we need till you are feeling better.

GLORIA de  we got 4 inches of snow yesterday. Looked beautiful. Looking out at the roof after the snow was over the snow on the roof and the sky were the same color.

JANE  my older son swears by Gatorade, I cannot drink it, upsets my stomach.

JENNY  it was a wonder no one was badly hurt in that pile up. Terrible way to miss your flight.

JUNE  when it is cold like it is now I do not go outside. Getting chicken in my od age, cannot take the cold anymore and I always loved winter the best, not this year.

SHIRLEY I know how you are with and kind of surgery and meds BUT if you do not get that cataract surgery you may end up not seeing anything clear and have to give up driving.

AMY  hope Babe's limp when she gets up is just from  the way she lays on her leg.

LLOYD  sunny here today but too darn cold.

PHYLLIS  in a time of crisis like you and David just went through you find out who cares about you. Then again you are also a good neighbor and caring friend.

JOY  waking in the morning I used to get up and get going. Now I wake and am slow getting up and moving. Must be what age does to us.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and doing since about 7:15. The dogs decided to get up and go out around 6 and then they had their pills and we hit the couch for the hour we had to wait for the pills.  I slept like a log!

I've been tending to piles of paper work this morning (and playing a couple of games on the computer in between).  I tried to call someone who needs to go over some things with me but I got a weird sound so I think he must be out of range on his cell phone.  I'll wait a while and try later.

I haven't even taken time to get dressed so I guess that is next on my agenda.  I'm glad everyone is OK and I hope "better" is in your future.

I'm off to tend to other things.  Enjoy your day!

Good Morning,

Gatorade story (you knew I'd have one :) ):  Mother liked to think she was "keeping up with the times".  Once, when she was visiting, she was excited because she'd found a new drink to serve to her Bridge Club.  "It comes in grape, orange and lemon-lime and it's called Gatorade".
There was some in the fridge because of my 3 athletes so I gave her a small glass to taste.  She almost spit it out and when I explained what it was used for, she said disgustedly, "Well!  Why do they put it with the juice????"
(I can just imagine what she'd say about all the various "health drinks" available today!)

Jenny,  what a horrible wreck.  Miss Emily reported a similar one east of Kansas City over the weekend.  I-70 must be treacherous all across the country.

Phyllis, so glad David is o.k. after a very scary episode.

Joy,  congratulations on the new great-granddaughter.  I love her name.  Miss Ellen's middle name is Marie.

Speaking of Miss Ellen <she said, smoothly segueing into bragging (again) :)),  I stayed up late last night "helping" her fly from NYC to Fort Lauderdale FL, where she will spend the next 6 weeks rehearsing and performing in the ensemble in a production of "My One And Only".  Not only is this her first major "gig", she will be staying with one of her best friends from college, who is also in the show.

Had to stay up late because her flight was delayed for 5 hours and she didn't get to FL until after 1:00 a.m.  Of course, I had to track the flight until I knew it had landed in Ft. Lauderdale :).
No problems at the NYC/Newark airports but a lot of arrivals there were delayed because of weather wherever they came from.

OKC metro area seems to be at the "confluence" of a front moving up from the Gulf of Mexico and the Arctic Blast moving down from the north.  So we're supposed to get rain/sleet/ice/snow this afternoon.  A lot of schools, including most of the metro area ones, are closed.  However, some of them have been closing to disinfect the buildings because of illnesses.

Off to find something useful to do....or not. :)
Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Callie,  first, thank you for your comment on my new "great".  I wasn't exactly "thrilled" with the name "Marley"  as all I could associate it with was the book  "Marley and Me"  with Marley being a dog.   But, the more I say it, the more I think I do like it.

Also, I am another one who will stay up tracking a  flight that my son and DIL would be on.  They travel quite a bit and usually to another  country.  They just recently went on a cruise to the Anartica and that was a lot of flight tracking.  They had to fly to South America, in order to start the cruise.  I couldn't track the cruise , but did manage to track the different flights to S.A.  I am always so glad when I see where the flight has landed.

Hello Everyfriend!  We're in for some snow tomorrow, too.  It's supposed to start around the time I arrive at work and isn't supposed to be finished until a couple hours after I'm home.  I sure hope it doesn't amount to what "they" are saying it will!

JOY, my congrats on the new member of your family.  When I hear or see the name Marley, I think of Ebenezer Scrooge's ghost and past business partner, Marley.  Since I've read the name here, I've been repeating it over and over and associating it with a dear little face and it's OK.  Once she gets to school, there won't be anyone there who remembers the things we do.

Supper's cooking and I'm waiting for it to be done.  I did a sort of stir fry.  I had the veggies in the freezer and some already cooked and chopped ham and I combined them and threw in some left over peanuts and now it's simmering until I'm ready.  There's enough for an army.  I'll be happy to share.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

A good Tuesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND❣️

CONGRATULATIONS, JOY, on your new GGranddaughter, Marley Marie.  I liked the name the second I read it, but I can appreciate you thinking of MARLEY AND ME, when you first heard it.  I can understand your disappointment in not being able to see her and better yet HOLD her until the end of the summer.  That seems so far away right now.

Oh no, JANE, I did not even remember Ebenezer Scrooge's ghost and past business partner, Marley.....yes, yes, just forget that memory and think of that sweet little baby girl!

We spent hours making airline reservations to fly to Phoenix to see my dad and for Bob to do his taxes....Spring training time down there so all of the reasonable fares are gone and to make matters worse they will only let you transfer two flight credits to one flight, and we had three that were all under one number.....oh how complicated things can be.  We tried to call the airline for assistance and we were on a wait of 45 minutes for them to call us back. Only to be told it can not be done.  We finally worked it out on our own but not happily as we both had to pay more money in addition to the flight credits when we had credit left on the table!  So much for my RANT of the day!

AMY, I hope Jesse did fine with the needle as you called it and I do hope Bebe's limp is nothing serious.

PHYLLIS, glad David continúes to feel better and that you got a good night of rest....bless your neighbor that brought in dinner🦋🦋

I guess I am still going to RANT...... I am really getting bummed out by this cold and snowy weather....there seems to be NO END IN SIGHT!

GLORIA, nice to read that Regina had fun getting out in the snow!  I get grumbleeee every time I read that you are not allowed to turn your furnace above 68*. When it is that cold outside that just is not high enough to compensate for the low outside temp!

CALLIE, I have seen some of the other car pileups in other states also.... I just wish folks would SLOW DOWN and it would keep a lot of the accidents from happening.  I, too, have to track my family's flights....so I understand you watching Ms. Ellen's.  Her next gig sounds like fun....in a warm place with a friend that is also in the play! YEA!

We are busy for the next three days helping out with Michele and the family, so I will post when I can....but may only get time to just read.

Jenn

Gosh,  Jane,  I completely forgot about Marley,  the ghost in the Christmas Carol story.  I think I would prefer to think of the little dog, tho.  But,  the more I say it,  the more I am beginning to like it. And. you are right about matching it with a sweet little face.  I guess it isn't as bad as some of the names being used today.
My sister-in-law has a new grandson,  who is named Phoenix.  She is still trying to learn to like it.  LOL

Enjoy your dinner.  Sounds good, especially with the added peanuts.  Also,  sure hope that you won't have any big problems with the expected snow storm.  Our area is being told we might get up to 8 in.  and I am sure you will probably get more,  if it is bad a storm as they are telling us.

Made it to the vet an back. Jesse, didn't mind getting his needle but he sure raised a ruckus when they tried to clip his nails. Gave him treats and peanut butter but he wasn't having anything to do with it. I will just have to work with his feet more. Babe ,has blown her knee.......same as what Golden girl had done. She is on 3 meds and not to run for 4 -6 weeks.

Today was the day the power would be out from 9-12 then 1- 4......but it didn't come back on till 4:45. We did use the generator when we came home.

Joy, I like Marley Marie...my gr grand is Charlie Rose and some didn't care for that either but I liked it. Unique names for unique people.

Jenny, frustrating to have to go through all that!! We are in for snow and freezing rain but it isn't to start till tomorrow late afternoon.I hope.

Jane, don't you just love stir fries, gets rid of a lot of little bits of vegetables and meat too.

Going to put my feet up.....tomorrow is another day of road running.

Thank you Larry.

I don't  know why my choice of bold, size and color no longer appear where I type my message. I click on them but it does not work. Darn ! I'm too old for this !

But I still want to check in and let you know I am still alive.....sort of, Very tired today and short of breath. Still in nightgown, and will fix a light supper, and hope for a better tomorrow.

Weather has been sunny but cool, may have some rain tomorrow, and that is always welcome.

Gloria, I am giggling about Regina playing in the snow..I think its great that they are enjoying the move they made. Do their boys like to visit there ?

Good to see you checking in Larry. I'm hoping each day that passes brings you more strength.  I have been on a "downer" lately too..but God is in charge so we will take what we are given, right ?

I'm  going to go post this and hope I will be allowed my options on size, color, etc. Hugs and love and many, many good thoughts and  prayers  where needed.I love you all. June

Joy, I woke up with such a vivid dream I'm still thinking about it hours later. I feel like I am "back in the '60s".  I do like your great grand's name, congratulations!   I have 3 great grands that I am not at all fond of their names (but I won't mention them here just in case someone lurks that might know them)... 7 grands & 7 great grands and counting...........

It is snowing like crazy, too bad it waited until nearly dark to start, won't get to watch it long enough.  I don't have the snow blower out of the "shed" so will have to use the shovel to get out of the garage in the morning for my doctor appointment.  I will call first to make sure the "doctor is in" before heading out.  I used to have a spot between my car & son's camper in the garage to put the snow blower but since we haven't had enough snow to use if for at least 3 or 4 years, I now have my Yamaha Chappie & a leaf mulcher sitting in that spot.  We are to get above freezing day after tomorrow so hopefully the sun will do it's job. News showing more snow to the west of us but I'm hoping for a chance to use my Sno-nut.  Keep it comin', Callie!

Callie, so happy to read that Miss Ellen is having such a grand time, can't help but smile at her zest for life.  I expect everyone loves having her around.  I am another tracker, keeps me busy with "all my children" and grands that are in the air so often.  #1 son is in your neck of the woods, left early yesterday morning for show & tell.  He agreed to this before his heart surgery & is having trouble keeping up with the drugs the heart doctor insists he stay on for a little longer.... to slow him down.  The excuse is to not work that valve too hard, but like with his father & mother, need to do a lobotomy to gear down, drugs just makes it harder to do what we're going to do anyway.  He was taken off one drug last week at his check up, but don't think it is the one that does the most harm.

Gloria, can't blame your daughter for doing the happy dance in the snow.  Are more people moving into their area?  What kind of critters do they see around their house?  Isn't it fun to see young ones getting to "live their dreams?"  So far the wind has not been blowing the snow from the tree branches so really pretty.... down side is it is too dark to take pics.

Poor Babe, this will break her heart not to run & keep up with the kid, Amy. No doubt she is getting extra hugs & sympathy for her suffering.  Callie-Cat is laying on the couch enjoying her time inside.  She is so stiff when she gets up but will go out when Tom wants to, they both just sit on the step & wait for me to open the door & let them back in.  Keeping me busy cleaning litter boxes!  Tiger goes out maybe 10 minutes every day, just sits & looks around & comes back in.  She won't even walk down to the river with me in this cold.

Jenn, safe trip to visit your father.  So sorry they can't help his pain.  My taxes went out a couple weeks ago, state didn't need any extra but the Feds got a big chunk. I cashed some I-bonds that were in Cas' name, thought it easier for me to do it than what the kids would have to do to cash them down the line.

Jane, your meal sounds so good.  I bought a package of chicken tortilla soup at Sam's this week, tastes a lot like my daughter-in-law's taco soup.  Not bad with some crunched up taco chips.  I've had 2 meals out of the soup so far & used about half on one tub, froze the other one.  I am lazy.  My freezer is overflowing, need to defrost but not sure I have enough coolers to put everything in while defrosting.

Have a 10:00 am appointment with the doctor so will be starving by the time I get out of there... afraid the blood will be about 99% proof Russell Stover turtles.  I bought 2 boxes when they were BOGO & a couple days later they were 70% off ... I ask you, is that not a bargain???? Got 2 more boxes.

Howdy, June, good to see you checking in.  I forget sometimes to highlight the text before doing the color & size.... so now I type what I want, do a copy (with Control & C) now my message is on the clip board...   go to the icons to pick text, size & color & when it starts blinking I do the paste to put it back in... and it's where it should be!  Maybe that's not clear, but it works for me. I'm like you, no patience with having to learn new tricks!  Happy to see you checking in.  How is "baby June" doing, how old is she now?

My dinner was so good!  I added some spices and a little soy sauce and let the flavors blend.  Yes, SHIRLEY, I do love making up stuff from whatever is in the freezer.  Or was it AMY that said that.

Nice to see JUNE posting and MYCHEAL and JENNY and EVERYFRIEND.  Good night all.  Sleep well and wake refreshed.

Good morning and it is early for me, got up at 3AM and been roaming around the house. NowI have a cup of Ovaltine.  Been watching a ship sail out of NY Harbor and looking at Time Square with 1 person walking around.
Sunday I saw the naked cowboy out there.  Cannot be the same one i saw 20 years ago, when he was the only one who people stop to have there picture with. Now The Square is full of charters.

Jenny safe trip to visit you Dad.

Callie, I know you are so proud of Miss Ellen

Amy, how do you keep a dog calm and quite?

Good morning everyone

- 18° F here this morning with a thread of snow and freezing rain later this afternoon. We are off to the city to see the rheumatologist , lots of questions are going to be asked and there had better be good answers . This new drug may stop/dull the pain from RA but it also lowers the immune system.

Glorida de, I just have to work more with him ,getting him used to someone handling his feet.

I had better get a move on..would rather snuggle back under the covers for a bit..........maybe tomorrow?

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're in "pill wait time" for the doggies so I decided to visit for a bit.

Callie, I was rereading and I noticed that I hadn't commented on Miss Ellen's good work!  What fun to get something to do that you love and to be able to do it with a good friend!

The snow that was predicted to begin around 10 today is now predicted to begin around 9.  I'm hoping that if it intends to get really serious, it will hold off until I get home from work around 2.  I also have a short stop to make on the way home but it's right down the street.

I wish you all a good day, a safe trip, good news, a nice nap, good food, sunshine and whatever else suits your fancy.  Make the day your own in every way!

Good morning everyone, another 12° start for today. I really cannot take the cold this year. I think it is because I have lost so much  weight I have no blubber left to hold the heat in.

CALLIE  you up waiting for Ellen to land in Florida reminded me of the fir st time my daughter went to San Diego to meet her future  in-laws. 2-14 and we were having a snow storm here. She was supposed to change in Chicago but had to land in Cincinnati because of weather so was very late getting to San Diego. I was waiting for a phone call from her saying she was there OK. Finally 6 hours late she called me. I was pacing the floor with worry. That was 46 years ago. I still worry when ever any of my family is traveling.

JOY  congratulations on the new great granddaughter.

JANE  we are in for more snow/ rain tonight. Just heard on local weather tomorrow should hit upper 40's. Crazy.

JENNY  when it is really cold out I do turn the heat up and to heck with what the witch wants. I am not going to be in here with a coat on and wrapped in blankets. Seems like every year when we get snow there are so many new drivers who do not know how to drive in it and think they can drive like the roads are dry. Some have to refresh their memories ow to drive on slippery roads.

AMY  how do you keep a dog from running? I hope you can manage it with Babe so her knee will heal.

JUNE  Their oldest son loves where they are in Arizona and goes there every year for Thanksgiving,  but their younger son is a city person and only went there once. Not for him.

SHIRLEY  yippee you have snow at last. Now you be very careful if you get to use your Sno-nut. Sure do not want you to run into something you should not. With a flas it is never too dark to take photos of the snow. My daughter uses her iPhone to take pictures now and they come out great. Have you changed your email address? I tried sending a few of the pictures she sent me and they came back as address unknown. Yes people are still buying lots but  none are too close. Mostly higher on the mountain and further back in he wilds. Most are newly retired. Quite a few from Ca. even San Diego. She is secretary of their association this year. No one wanted the job so she volunteered. She does have to keep busy. The see more cattle than wild critters except deer.

GLORIA de  I have nights like that, too. Frustrating.

AMY  I would not like any med that lowers the immune system.

JANE  no sunshine here this morning, just a gray sky. Yesterday could hardly see the difference from the roofline and the sky, both the same color.

Have a good day.

Amy you have to be the toughest female i sort of know.weather the low temp's and run the snow blower the way you do. it is 32º now out and calling for high of 38º today. I sure am not tough as I used to be. now day's I put on warm coat and gloves feed and hurry back in this kind of weather. I can rember working -fixing the bulldozer bare handed and go in hold my hands up side the wood stove warm them up and go back out for another spell. no more. we got a little over of 1" of AMY's snow last night. AMY i am sure wew all love you and some day when the weather is much better and we are traveling would love to stop by and see you in person but for now you may keep the snow up there. I used when I was younger and tough go out take a big pan and fill it with clean snow. come in put sugar vanilla in it to taste stir with hand mixer (delicious)snow cream. i am thinking about testing a drift today , making there is no collier in it. I drink ice water year around and eat ice cream same. this has my taste bud's druling. so may do it today. Have a great day.

Welcome to the world - Marley Marie!

Jenny:  Best wishes for a great visit with your dad!  Sorry for your airline issues - it used to be Friendly Skies.

Hello Larry!

We drove from Tucson to Carlsbad, California.  Just in time for several days of heavy rain - that does not stop drivers from speeding and we were so happy to have one day to walk the beach without getting wet.  Yes, we had rain gear but the wind was fierce and we had to go out to get food -  Traffic was insane even on early Saturday morning.  It was almost peaceful to finally get out of the area.  We did have a great visit with son and wife - they left for Montana a day early.  They are not going to look for a house in that area.

Take care - all!

Hi Everyone. Just a little update this morning.  I am not doing well as am getting weaker everyday, coughing and rasping  more (which goes with congestive heart failure).  I have to use the rollator (walker) when I move about as have become pretty unsteady on my feet.  I spoke to my Cardiologist's office this morning to see if I could get in to see her again soon.  However, she is having surgery tomorrow and she said I should go to the ER.  I have an appointment tomorrow with the kidney doctor as I have stage 4 kidney disease and I will see him and see if he thinks I need to be admitted to the hospital.  If so I will request they contact my cardiologist before I went back to my doctor that I had before him.  So things are sort of up in the air here.  I am clearing my plate of commitments and trying to be sure I have everything in order for Pat and Scott.  Enough about me today.  I have read all of the postings since yesterday.

Larry, I am so sorry you are having such severe problems and wish your doctor was as considerate as Cas' was. He gave Cas his private phone number for when he was concerned about how he was doing, than meant the world to Cas. He never had to use it but was comforted to know he could reach him at any time. Prayers that you get the attention of the right doctor to help you and pull you out of this slump.  Tell Pat & Scott my thoughts & prayers are with them also, you know, we are all concerned. Shirley

Good Morning Everyone..

Larry,  thank you for the update.
I wish you well,  and hope that things
start improving very soon.

I spent this morning putting in my
first "Order to go" at my favorite
Grocery Chain this morning.

My daughter Kelly wants me to begin to
use this service.   The store is right
next to where she lives,  so pickup will
be easy for her or for one of her girls.

We are going to start using it this week
so that we (she and them) can get used
to the system.    From what I hear,
people who use it,  seem to love it.

Our system here,  the orders need to be
picked up (as they don't deliver)...  but
that is OK for Kelly because the
store is so close to her,  and it is
very convenient.

It seems like things keep on changing,
even though sometimes we would like to
keep things the same.

Again,  Larry,  I am thinking about
you and hoping for the best..

Sandy

Good afternoon, snowing lightly, looks heavy on Time Square.

Carol get back home safe. Gladyou got to see your family

Larry, don't fool around with doctors just call and ambulance and get to the ER. I found it was the best thing to do, and a team is waiting for you.  Other wise you have to go through  the protocol of the ER

I'm here, sort of.

Larry, move over,I'm in the same boat at you, but I have hospice, so I remain here in my apartment in stead of a hospital. Going down hill in any case. Need oxygen almost constantly, plus the albuteral treatment. Hospice works hand in hand with my nurses here at Rowntree, so I am covered constantly. Very tired though. And now have developed a cough.

Weather remains the same...58/42, partly cloudy.

I have fox news on almost constantly for lack of something better. When the t.v. goes off , pick up a book.

I did have a good lunch, cheese omelet, and will have soup for supper along with a cream pie. Might as well "live it up".

Back to chair and oxygen machine. Hugs, Love and Prayers and more prayers, June

June, I'm amazed at how you keep going and going and going.  I don't have the breathing problems you have, but I can't walk far.  I can and do walk to the mailbox and I am not using a walker yet, however, I am thinking of getting one - just in case.

I think of you and Larry, also Gloria de who ends up in the hospital occasionally - often.

Now it is time to see what is available for supper.

Good morning everyone, does not look like we got much snow last night but the plow is out there, woke me as usual so here I am, up before the rooster crows.  31° and weather guessers are saying might get to mid 40's today.

LLOYD  I was never tough but I used to find the cold weather invigorating. Now I just want to be where it is warm, NOT hot.

CAROL  when I used to go visit my daughter in San Diego and they picked me up at the airport I would close my eyes as my son in law would drive from there with that horrible traffic. Now they are retired to Arizona in the boonie‪s and love the peace and quiet.

LARRY  you are in my thoughts and prayers.

JUNE  glad you are getting all the care you need.

MARY ANN  I started using a rollator 7 years ago. Without it I would not be able to walk anywhere.

Have a good day Everyone.

Good early morning Amy and Gloria, I am rushing around to get ready  to go see the hematologist. Have not been in to see him in a couple of weeks, sure he is not going to be happy.  Just no one well enough to take . My friend next door thought she would be better after 3 weeks knee operations, Still in walker, aand my other friend recovering from a fractured pelvis. I hope my blood count is not to low, but I think it is going down as I am tired and light headed at times.

June and Larry take care

Good Morning Everyfrind!  I didn't post last night because I was just plain too tired to think.  It started to snow as I was leaving for work and it snowed continuously while I was there and continued to snow for about an hour after I got home.

After working 4 hours, I had to clean off my car before I could drive it and then when I got home, my good neighbor had cleaned my driveway but I had to shovel along the fence before I could put the car under cover.  Then I had to shovel the walks and my front porch so the dogs could get out.

The prediction was for the snow to change to freezing rain later in the day and I didn't want all that snow to have a layer of ice on top.  When I was finished, I was beat!  I gave the doggies their snack and crashed on the couch and that was the end of it!  I woke up in time to have supper, feed the doggies and do a bit of paper work before I conked out again.

So here I am, greeting another day and all my friends with a list of yesterday's woes!  I don't mean to be a complainer, just explaining my absence yesterday.

I'm supposed to go to lunch with my former office associates today and I'm saw the township truck in my road.  It looked like he plowed and then laid a layer of cinders so maybe it will be ok by 11:30.  We'll see!

I hope you are all safe and warm and feeling better.  Make this day a good one!

Good morning.   It is a pretty sunny morning, still with lots of snow around, but the temperature is supposed to be up in the 50's today.  So, that will help a lot  with the melting.

Yesterday was a really messy day.  But, thankfully, all my family got home ok.  I think most of the schools were closed over most of the state, lots of businesses closed down, restaurants were closed, no trash pick-up.... almost like the whole town closed down.  The roads were terrible, and by afternoon, it was raining and sleeting.  So, I guess the weather people really hit it right yesterday.
Supposed to be another wintry mess next week.  Will be so glad to see spring arrive.

Larry, my thoughts are with you, as well as with Pat and your son.   Hope that you will get some new answers when you see the kidney doctor.  Stay strong !!!

Jane, sorry that you were so tired last night, but it sounds like you did a lot to make you feel that way.  Hopefully,  you will be able to get to your luncheon today and that will rejuvenate you !!!  Have fun!

Gloria de, hope your appointment with the doctor today will be a good one.

Amy, for sure,  good tires are a must up where you live.  Hope they don't make too big of a hole in your pockets.  LOL  But,  something that you absolutely must have.

Gloria, I hope you will have a good day.   I am like you as I don't like the cold either.  Hope you are keeping warm and have a good day.  I also need my rollator all the time now.   Sometimes it can get in the way, but it is a necessity.  Everytime I see my orthopedic doctor, he will ask me why I need it.  I keep telling him,  he should already know why. I can't walk !!!!

I need to get some breakfast and then get a few chores done.  I have been very lazy the past few days.  But, today, I do feel a little more motivated.  So, I need to take advantage of that, before I change my mind.   My days just seem to go by so quick.

Have a good day.

Joy

Hi Everyone. We continue to cloudy weather with occasional rain showers.  Our temps are in the 50's today.

I have decided not to go to the ER and will seek another appointment with by heart doctor that I have seen this past year.  I have an appointment this afternoon with the kidney doctor and will see what he says.  I am just going to take things a day at a time.  The heart doctor that I have seen in recent weeks want to keep me out of the hospital and that is certainly what I want. I did not mean to imply that I think I am in a condition where I may die anything soon.  I will just take things one day at a time and make the adjustments that need to be made.  I use my rollator all the time now except where I can hold on to something as am very concerned about falling.

Maybe in a day or two I will find enough energy to again offer some individual comments.

Mary Ann, I would encourage you to get the walker or rollator or you could prevent a fall.

Amanda, Liz's Granddaugher, who some of you may  know posted on the Christian Photographer's website, left us a message this morning that is certainly not good news.  Here a a link to her  posting: https://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=13768.new#bot (https://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=13768.new#bot)

Thanks for the link, Larry, I did go see if I could place Liz but don't think I ever "met" her when checking with the Christian Photographers group. I do recognize many of the names, used to visit more often, sorry about her condition. Must be a special lady to have her gr-daughter take time to bring the news. Sincere sympathy to all of them.

Larry, I'm glad you are taking charge of what YOU can do, what works best for you... nobody but you understands what you are comfortable doing and when you need to be checked out. I know doctors are over worked but so far this week I get the feeling each one of mine is saying, "not MY department"... like that commercial.

I'm praying that you find your comfort zone where you can keep that sharp mind of yours busy while the body adjusts to the new restrictions. Thanks for sharing this page of your story, you are an inspiration.

I'll be back later to join in the conversation. The sun melted most of the snow yesterday & I did NOT even get a chance to air up the SnoNut!!!  Weather guessers say we probably won't get enough snow in the next round to do anything but "gunk" up the cars. Mine is so dirty I can't get in & out without getting dirty, layers of the salt, sand & spray stuff they use to pre-treat the streets. Guess I will have to hook my long hoses together & wash it off in the driveway... can't get the faucet to open by the driveway. I need to use extra water during Feb since the city bases their usage on this month & if you use more in summer, you get to pay high dollar prices for the "over". Supposed to be in the 40s today so guess I'll put that on the to-do list for this afternoon. Reporting from my corner of the world!  Shirley

Joy, I use my pushmobile all the time. I have to have it shopping, so I can set down every once in a while

Jane, I wish you did not have to do any shoveling that worries me.

I am very tired, think I will take a nap, something I hardly every do.

Well, Joy, that was a big owwie !!!While they were doing the tires they noticed I needed break pad and calipers...........so we got those done also. We didn't get out of there till 11 and then we picked up our kindling and headed home. The pup had been in his cage since we left and didn't make a mess! Good boy he is!

Yesterday the Dr explained more about this new med and what it boiled down to was quality of life.So when all is said and done he will go on this new med. We had a phone call from patient support today and will get another call from another agency tomorrow or next week about the drug. If it gives Kyle some relief then it is worth it. He can't take some of the meds due to his heart and the chemo has already caused his neuropathy in his hands and feet, maybe a little peace from pain will help him. He drops one RA med which is good as it causes eye problems so he won't have  to have his eyes tested every six months.

We are in for more snow, lightly snowing now but more to come then rain and high winds on Sunday.

Larry, only you know what is best for you and you know how to deal with it.

I am reading through the posts and we each have our own problems but I noticed that everyone deals with them in their own way. getting them done and moving on the best way we can.

Now I had better get some work done....this morning was a write off!!

Lloyd, not tough,,,,,,like others, just have to do the work :)

If we all have a common factor that we use for dealing with "everything", it; DETERMINATION!  And there's not a thing wrong with that.

I remember my Dad saying to my sister that she shouldn't be so stubborn.  when my mother commented that both of us are stubborn in our own way, my father said, "Margie's the stubborn one.  When she gets something in her mind it stays there.  Jane has determination!  Something gets in her way and she figures out a way around it."  And in way, he was right.  Margie still tries to go straight through it.  If there's a way over or around it, that's my way.

And I say, all of us here are DETERMINED to find the best way!  And mostly, we do.  I'm proud to know all of you!  You've become my inspiration!

Good morning everyone. 33° just above freezing and will get into the 40s this afternoon. Hope we have sunshine today. My daughter was telling me yesterday that they had at least 8 inches of snow. Highways in the area were all closed. They do not have the plows etc. to clear roads and drivers who lived there all their lives do  know how to drive in snow. Her husband never drove in it and I wonder if she would be able to after 44  years in San Diego and now in Arizona.

AMY  do need those snow tires where you live. Better than putting chains on tires.

GLORIA  de  having to depend on others for rides after years of dri‌ving yourself is not a good feeling is it.

JANE I remember cleaning snow leaving work and then shoveling my way into the yard.

JOY  I gave up on orthopedic doctors. They always say I am too old to help and surgery is out at my age. The last one I saw I asked him if I fell and broke a hip if he would shoot me like they do a horse. He just turned and walked away.

LARRY  without my rollator I would not be able to get around. Best money I ever spent when I bought mine.

SHIRLEY  I would love to find a good ole GP. They did not keep sending one to this specialist ot that one.

GLORIA  de  every time I have to go anywhere I am tired when I get home and have to lay down.

JANE  I feel I am just stubborn and do things my way. Would love to do half of what you do.

LLOYD  glad yesterday was a good day for you.

Have a good day.

A very dear friend at my church has passed away and her funeral will be on Saturday.  I'm hoping the weather cooperates and I'll be able to attend the funeral.  She was one who was always available to help anyone who needed it and was always there to do whatever the church needed her to do.  Her daughter was a Senior Girl Scout when I had Juniors an she was one of the best volunteer helpers I ever had.

I wish you a good day filled with the love of family and friends and all kinds of other good things

I am ashamed of myself.  I sit here and grumble about the incessant rain and my head aching and not wanting to go out to a dental appointment and then I read about all of you here and the challenges you face and deal with every day with courage.....and determination.  I can only wish that I could be as brave as each and every one of you.  You all are in my prayers.

I hope that I can find some of your courage and just do what I have to do....and do it with a smile.   :)

Phyllis:  Do not feel ashamed - we all "get through"in our own way and own pace.  It is so nice to commiserate in this place.

Gloria de:  Isn't it interesting to see what is happening through the cameras?  I never though of watching Times Square.

June:  You have toughed it out so very much for such a long time.  Hugs to you.

Mary Ann:  Take care - it is always nice to read your notes.

Gloria:  The snow here is a lot wetter than normal, I would think since Tucson is high desert.  This means beautiful springtime flowers.

Jenny:  Nothing is nice with the airlines anymore.  Have a safe trip - the snow won't last long here.  I hope you can have some time while here to sit outdoors - today is chilly by Arizona standards.  I suggest you write a letter to the airline.  It is worth a try.

I lost my notes and wanted to mention more of you - Off to the kitchen to bake some sweet breads and freeze them for company.

Back again, and happy to see the large print. After I ate lunch...half of a Huge sandwich of beef au jus, so I have enough food left over in my fridge for the next two days, I'm sure.

I had what I think sounds like good news. I am supposed to have albuteral dosages every four hours. Today I was told I could ask for it whenever needed. I have been having more trouble getting enough air, so that part is good news.

Mid afternoon and I have finally changed from nightgown to dress, so when I close here I will go walk the hall ways and do some greeting and gabbing with whomever I meet..always hugs to go along with most of the greeting.

Gosh another whole week has nearly passed again. My housekeeper came, and after she changed the bed, I told her I was going to lie down there and she was to pretend I was "out visiting" which I usually do, but I just was not up to it this morning, so the dear girl just cleaned around me with  no problem, and I did doze of a few times.

Larry, I was SO happy to read your message today, it gave me renewed vigor to live a little more lively again..hence my up-upcoming hall walking. None of us are guaranteed more than the day we wake up to, so let's just live it up. Right now as I type I am eating an ice cream sunday that has been sleeping in my freezer for too long....and it tastes as good as it looks.  The way the world is going now, we are Blessed for what we have had in the past...the good and the bad..but with HOPE which seems to be lacking now, so my friends, be grateful for each breath we take in our freedom, and expect and hope for a tomorrow, and even more, lets hope for a hundred more years for our youth to correct and enjoy. O.K. ?? I love you my friends. June

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all fine this Saturday morning. I had a wonderful surprise yesterday. My older and retired son called and asked if I would like to  shopping. YES. I have not been into a market in  4 years and I could not pass up the chance to go. First he took me to lunch and then the market. I had fun loo‌king at new and different things out there now. I spent over $200.- and well worth it. Got some good produce and other things to stock up on. I have been sending my CNA for groceries but she has a tendency to get brands she likes and not what I put on my list. Keep telling her to get just what I have on the list and she says they do not carry that brand anymore. Odd because I found them yesterday. My son brought everything up here and helped me put every thing away. My freezer now has enough food for several months. After he left I started getting tired and my back started up. Had a fun time though and did a lot of walking. He had the shopping cart and I used my rollator. Got home close to 5pm and called my daughter on the way home because I missed out Skype time. She said she was trying to get on and not getting a reply from me. and beginning to worry. Glad I had my cell phone with me. It was a nice sunny day and not too cold.

PHYLLIS  I have been cooped up inside so much this winter it was worth goin‌g out yesterday. Too darn cold to even go out for a short walk. I make no appointments in the winter months anymore and now from late March to late November  are when I have medical appointments. My dentist and my doctors are great about it.

LARRY  glad to see you checking in.

CAROL  the first year my daughter lived outside of Kingman she kept sending me pictures of different flowers that popped up in the spring. Then there were cacti in bloom. She is up in the 4,500 level in the mountains and they both love it there  after San Diego.

LLOYD  glad you enjoyed a talk with Peter yesterday on Skype.

JUNE  from what you said about the food there I am sure your lunch was edible.

LLOYD  your Christmas cactus is beautiful. There is one here in the Community room that doesn't know when it is supposed to bloom. At every 3 or 4 months it blooms and will be full of flowers. There is a second one there that will bloom at Christmas time only.

Looks like I am the early bird here this morning. Have a great day Everyone.

Good morning everyone.

No new snow yet but we are prepared for the snow and rain now. Took the garbage to the dump and pick up 2 pails of sand. Hope we don't have to use them, I really dislike ice!!Need to do laundry and bake today...not a cookie in the house !!

Gloria, loved reading your happy post. What a great day you had with your son and you restocked the pantry with what you liked and wanted.

June, nice to read you also had a lovely day yesterday. You made the most out of your day.....especially with the sundae :)

Phyliss, no need to feel that way!!Wait till Spring and you will hear me complain about the blackflies and mosquitos. At times they are so bad here and take all the enjoyment out of being outside.   I do have a mosquito net but find them rather suffocating,

Guess laundry won't start on its down ,darn it.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're waiting for the boinger for the doggies breakfast....mine too.  So I'll probably have to be brief.

The cold weather is back and today is a sad day.  I'll be attending the funeral for my good friend, Helen, later this morning.  We have a lot of memories in common through the church activites and through my GS association with her daughter.  She will be missed by many people.

On the happy side, I'm having dinner with my favorite youngest grandniece tonight.  She dog sitting with my daughter's doggie while they are away and we always enjoy getting together.

Guess I better end this before I get caught by the boinger.  I wish you all a great day.  Make it your own in every way!

Hi Everyone.  Our cloudy days continue with only a small chance of rain.  We expect to get to about 60 degrees today.  Yesterday was really a down day as when I got up yesterday morning I was exhausted and couldn't hold my head upright.  So I spent most of the day either sitting in my easy chair or in bed with my eyes closed.  At least today I can hold my head upright.  On Thursday, when Scott and Pat were at Costco, I had asked Scott to see what they had in the way of Tablets.  He called me and said they had just put on sale the Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet.  So Pat got it for me.  I got it somewhat setup Thursday evening but yesterday I didn't even turn it on.  That will be my main project for today. I will use it at my easy chair as the laptop I have is getting too heavy for me.  I still have my desktop, which I usually use in the mornings.

Carol, we have known each other through these discussion for a long time and now time is taking it toll on us as we age.  I way I have felt somedays, like yesterday, I wonder if I will ever recover much of my strength but then have a good nights sleep and wake up feeling a bit better, as today, and my view on life improves.  At least you know you chilly weather probably won't last very long.

Lloyd, nothing like a good meal of homemade chicken and noodles. That is a beautiful Christmas Cactus.

June, always good to see a posting from you regardless of length. Glad you felt like doing a little walking yesterday and hope you have a reasonable day today.  Yesterday, when our housekeeper was here, she always makes up my bed first thing and for the first time I went in an laid down before she finished the room.  Your mentioning the ice cream sundae sort of whets my appetite thinking that a Daily Queen Blizzard might take pretty good to me.

Gloria, it sure is a lift to one's spirit when we can out and do something we haven't done for awhile. Glad you enjoyed your trip out yesterday with your son and your lunch out.

Amy, maybe someday we all will have robots in our homes than can do our laundry.  Glad you avoided overnight snow.

Jane, it is a sad day when we have to attend a funeral of a dear friend.  Nice you can spend time with your grandniece this evening.

Lloyd, I didn't know what the Christmas Cactus looked like (green part) until your photo. My husband's mother had a huge pot that looked like that but I never saw it in bloom. Sure is pretty.

We've had thunder & rain, not a lot of rain but sure is keeping the cats inside.  Had bright sun while ago but turning cloudy again so I checked radar... got some ice & rain moving in so I am playing in the kitchen. Had a couple of cans of crescent rolls in the frig that needed to be baked so opened one & put shredded cheese in half before rolling them up and brown & white sugar plus cinnamon in the others... baked & house smells good & tried one of each, taste pretty good. I did add a tad of butter to each bite (how can you not put butter on hot bread???)

I'd better get me out of the kitchen or someone will have to roll me out. I set this laptop up at the end of the table in this big combined "kitchen-family room".... but it isn't far enough away from the food.  :-\  :-[

I keep re-heating my cup of coffee & by the time I think of it, it's cold again. I think my brain is still asleep so maybe I should take these old bones back to bed & try again later to get some work done. Won't be long we'll all be griping about how hot it is, you think?   ::)  ;)

I quit....laundry is done 8 doz peanut butter cookies and 7 doz oatmeal cookies done and 5 cherry loaves in the oven yet. You will find some of each in Joan's hidey hole.

They are calling for freezing rain and 100 km an hour winds for tomorrow.........goodness me. We are all set for it  but I hope the power stays on as not everyone has a generator to fall back on.

Going to tidy up the kitchen and put my feet up....maybe..

Shirley hot bread and butter go hand in hand!!

Good afternoon.

I am late getting here, but I have been having a very lazy day.  Yesterday started out on the wrong foot and the day went downhill from that point on.  Just couldn't seem to do anything right.

So, today, I decided I was not going to do anything.  Started a new book and will keep on reading.  I had a late lunch so that means a late dinner. But, that is ok.

Gloria,  so good to read about your shopping day yesterday.  Even tho it did tire you out,  I know you so enjoyed just getting out and being with your son.  You probably almost forgot you were getting tired.  I know it seems when I really don't want to get read to go out, I always feel better after I go.  I know a lot of how I feel is my own doings.

Nice to see a good message from Larry.  It sounded just like you do before you started feeling bad.  Do hope you will keep on feeling better.

June, always nice when you sound upbeat, like you did today.  You are just so amazing.

And, Amy, I can't imagine doing all that baking in one day.    I am lucky that I got a tube of Pillsbury's cinnamon rolls done yesterday.  And, it sure didn't take long.  I really need to make up some pie dough, as I have used all I had in the freezer.  I like to make my own and divide it up and freeze it.  That way if I feel like making a pie or some kind of a baked treat,  I have the dough in the freezer.

It has been a very dreary day. Has looked like rain all day, but so far, just nothing.  I had hoped to maybe get out for dinner somewhere tonight, but after talking to my son and DIL,  they didn't feel like going.  Plus with the weather being so iffy, I was kind of glad to just stay home.

A good evening to everyone and hope you all have had a good day.

Joy

Mycheal, thank you for the eagle cam.....love watching the birds .

June, hope you had a good nights rests and will have a wonderful day today.

Joy, sorry you got off on the wrong foot, hope today is much better. I must admit I would rather do a lot of baking all at once then not have to do it for a while.

Roley, thank you for the plane crash memorial, I will watch that while having my tea.

Lloyd, good morning to you!

Jane, not nice losing a friend, just enjoy all the wonderful memories that you have with her over the past years.

Better get dressed so I can take the pup out....getting too light out there to go out in my night wear!!

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm up and attem today!  I got dressed and ready for church while I waited for the doggies boinger for their pills.  This will be a short one because there's not much time left.

My dinner with Bethany was great last night.  We both agreed that we have to get together more while she's up in this area.  She's the younger of two sisters and they both used to spend a couple weeks every summer with me when they were growing up but this is the first tie we've spent time with just the two of us.  It was pretty neat!  And we promised we'd do it again!

I'll be off to church this morning!  I'm pretty much ready to go as soon as the doggies are taken care of.  I don't have to make any stops on the way home so I'll just come home and tend to my "list".

LARRY, I don't remember who said it but I agree that it was nice to "hear" you sounding like you old self in your last posting.

You too, JUNE.  Let's have more of it!

MYCHEAL, I loved the Eagle!

AMY, I'm going to have a handful of oatmeal cookies for my breakfast.  I haven't made them in a lot of years and I always loved them.  Thank you.

Now I know it's time for the boinger because Annie's whining around my ankles.  So I'll try to be back later.  I wish you all a good day.

NOTE:  We must have the tail end of AMY's storm because it's been raining all night and supposed to continue through the day.  I am so TIRED of rain!

I'm so tired of rain, too.  It really drags down the spirits when it goes on and on for days.  Maybe the sun will come out later today.  I can only hope.

Take care, All.

Good morning everyone. Well all the walking on Friday caught up with me yesterday. As the day went on my back acted up and tried getting the salve I use on the aching places but my arms have a time reaching my back and massaging it in. I do have a back thingy I can put the salve on but cannot apply pressure to it. Oh where was my CNA when I needed her?! After my son left after his weekly visit I laid on the couch watching TV. Glad I bought some easy things to fix on Friday so did eat pretty good.

AMY  my CNA goes shopping for me but if she doesn't see what I have on my list she gets what she likes. I keep telling her if they do not have what I have on my list to get nothing, NO SUBSTITUTES. Cannot afford for her to buy food I will either give away or throw away.

JANE  the rain is back here and right now it is freezing rain. No going out for me again.

LARRY  wonderful seeing your post from yesterday. That alone said you were having a better day. I know some days I just do not feel up to saying hello here.

SHIRLEY  you have my mouth watering for your hot bread and real butter, especially the one with the cinnamon. I did a lot of picking yesterday, no real coo‌king. I did get some fresh fruit and I really enjoyed having it yesterday.

AMY  just heard on local weather that tomorrow we are in for strong winds and possible power outages.

JOY  I seldom pass on a chance to go out. My older  son likes grocery shopping, takes after me. My younger son took me a few times but just doesn't like it and has no patience for it. Like you I like homemade pie dough, the premade ones always seen tough  to me, not flaky or tasty either.

PETER  thanks for the links. Both brought tears to my eyes. I had 2 nephews in the air force in WW2 and thankfully both came home safely.

PHYLLIS  we have had more rain than snow this winter. With the ground frozen it just runs off. At least the snow melts slow and can sink into the ground.

Time to make my breakfast so have a good day.

[Good morning, Phyllis and Jane I would also like to see the sun. but rain again to day and tomorrow with high winds. ON the other side this could have been all snow this winter, then we would be tunnelling out  :) and it would have coat me a small fortune digging out]

Goodmorning June, always enjoy your post. AS I have said before you use words so beautifully. Like the person you are. take care

Lloyd thanks for posting that lovely cactus. Mine has not bloomed in two years, although I put it in a dark room in Oct.

Larry, hope to day is another good day

Gloria, Glad you were able to get out with your son. My problem is circulation in my feet and legs, the doctor said walk, walk even though I have trouble walking and breathing at the same time. I can walk and stop set, down because of my pushmobile, I would not be able to go out if it was not for that. I do get very tired.  After my Procrit shot I feel better so yesterday I made tuna fish macaroni salad, enough for my neighbor who just had surgery and the other who took me to the doctor. There is so little I can do for them. Also made a jello, cream cheese pineapple salad. Now I am worn out for the month :)

A good Sunday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

Happy to read all of the posts telling of what many of you are up to.  My goodness, AMY, the goodies in the hidy hole sure did taste yummy.  Yes, I had one of each!  I, too, sure hope the winds do not leave your area with a black out.  The winds seem to be a big issue all over the place now.

Many area are breaking records for total snow amounts. Snow in the Phoenix area and Las Vegas!  Sure wonder what is going on?  The pictures coming out of Phoenix sure are beautiful.

GLORIA, I was so happy to read about your shopping outing with your son.  Bless him for letting you enjoy some special time together.  I am sorry you have to pay for it with the back pain.

Friday we took Michele and Kate out to one of the newly opened hotel / convention center called the Gaylord Rockies.  It is quite the place.  Kate was there to dance on Friday then to have two days of dancing techniques.  It is only her second time to dance a solo in competition and she did fantastic.  She had a lot of stiff competition so did not get a score as high as it appeared she danced, but she is one of the younger girls at age 9 and her competition were girls that are 11 already.  Sure does make this grandma proud to watch that girlie dance her heart out.  We left after the solos were completed.  Went to their home to pick up Lola Doodle and then Dave and the boys went out to the hotel to join the girls for the weekend.  They have big swimming pool areas with the slides and the like, so the boys were going to enjoy their time out there as well.  There are girls from 14 other states there to participate.  They will stop by on their way home this afternoon to pick up Lola.

GLORIA de, PHYLLIS and JANE, I hope you get to see the sun soon, as I, too, do not care for day after day of dreariness.  We are to be going into a warming stage for 4 days before the next snow is forecasted.

LARRY, glad you were able to get out for a haircut yesterday.  Take it easy and rest up my friend.  I hope you have managed to get your new electronic device set up and are enjoying it.

MYCHIEL, thank you for the nice video cam for us to see the beautiful Eagles nest.

Thank you, Roley, for the wonder videos of the plane crash site.  Very interesting, although so sad.

SHIRLEY, I seem to have the same problem with my coffee.....it just gets forgotten and then it is cold.  After a few times I just drink it down to be done with it.

JUNE DEAR.....love seeing your special posts....thank you for checking in to let us know what all you have been doing.  💞💞 and HUGS to you❣️

Enjoy the rest,of your Sunday!

Jenn

This old girl doesn't know how to party anymore... I am pooped!  The usual Sunday of church and breakfast with the kids at McDonald's & plans to meet at a little church having a German sausage meal just northwest of the city at noon. We had the meal last year and it was delicious so was looking forward to a big feast. Sadly the great grands were sick so one family couldn't make it but we bought carry out & Andy took to them. I bought extra coleslaw and sausages to bring home with me to eat tomorrow but doubt if it will make it through the night in MY frig!  I had a little nap but could go back to sleep without any trouble.

Tomorrow I will take on Cox again, my kids are going nuts because they can't call me. Ever since I had them install that nomorobo option it thinks everyone that calls is a robo and tells them "the person you are calling has not set up their voice mail".... My daughter did set it up even though we had set it up before Cas died, but it wouldn't let us retrieve the messages people left. At that time I had the system set that at 4 rings the answering machine would pick up and 6 rings was voice mail. What a pain! They can't get a single person to fix the problems because some idiot goofed when I took the death certificate to have all changed to MY name and didn't, so when I try to make any changes "it" refuses because I am NOT the primary user.

I asked more than one person as they passed me from one to another, just who do they think has been paying the bills the last nearly 6 years??? Can you believe not one human can go in and just type in MY name?  When I argued with them a couple weeks ago for several days straight, that I was the one that set this up but 30 years ago they demanded I use Cas' Social Security number and not mine.... he didn't even use a computer at the time & never ever talked to Cox about their service. I always paid all bills.

Anyway, I dread tomorrow because I'll get the same run around. Bottom line is "they" tell me I can cancel this service and open a new account, but I have Amazon & other businesses attached to the Cox account. Crazy & pushing me over the edge! To make matters worse, when the kids call my cell phone they get the same message because when I set up the Nomorobo system it insisted on a cell phone number.. which has nothing to do with Cox, it is a tracfone/iPhone.

Kind of neat to be away from the house & can answer the landline phone on my cell.... providing Nomorobo thinks it's okay. Now & then it will let a kid through... but most of the time I get a text message from them to say they've been trying to call, so I call them. Do I sound a little frustrated??? :crazy2:

Peter, I watched the news about that crash on TV before seeing your links... so sad the man felt it was his/their fault the crew died, but how kind of him to see they weren't forgotten. When my brother was shot down his plane was over the Danube River but he came down on land and was immediately captured. He saw his best friend, the tail gunner, shot to pieces and did as they promised each other, visited his family to assure them that he did not make it so they would know what happened. Those were terrible days but the people were at their best, so much love and kindness.

Jenn, I expect someone was doing her very best to make her mother smile. Congratulations to Kate and I am more than impressed with what a trooper Michele is. For sure those kids have wonderful parents (and grandparents).

Well, I could sit here & talk all night, I read posts & tell each of you thoughts going  through my mind but my posts get too long so I delete..... special hugs to all. Can you believe that this is the last week of February?

The sun came out yesterday afternoon and it is supposed to be sunny today.  How lovely!  Of course, I realize that in July I will probably not be so happy about sunshine.   ;D   Oh, well, I'll deal with that when July comes.

All is going along as normal here....thank goodness!  Laundry today and whatever else I can get up to.  I have some pie dough in the fridge and a can of cherry pie filling in the pantry...I may make a Rustic Tart.  David would like that, I think.

Good morning everyone. Raining when I went to bed last night, fell asleep listening to the rain hit the windows. Woke to the sound of the maintenance man plowing the walks. When I looked out was surprised to see about an inch of snow. On local news they are saying this is lake effect snow. We are many miles away from the great lakes to get that snow here but the weather guesser said a band of it came here. Crazy

LARRY  you do not have to reply to all of us, just a short post makes us happy.

GLORIA  de  I agree with the rain.  If it had all been snow we would be snowed in by now. Like you I would be lost without my rollator.

JENNY  my oer sone calls often and comes for visits at times but Friday was great. At least my back did not act up till the day after.

SHIRLEY  when I had my apartment in my son's house every thing cable was in his name. When I moved here I had to go to the Cox store to get them to put it in my name here, talk about a problem because the said since he move it would still be in his name. Making them understand I was the one moved not him to get them to understand. Your posts are NEVER TOO LONG.

JANE  I laid on the couch yesterday watching a movie on the TV and next thing I knew a different movie was on.

PHYLLIS  my oldest son always wanted a cherry pie for his birthday, not a cake. My MIL said I was spoiling him. No way did I spoil my 3. A special treat now and then was deserved.

LLOYD  hello.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're about to be interrupted by the boinger because the doggies are getting restless behind me.  There it goes!  I'll be back in a bit!

Dogs fed and my second cup of coffee is right in front of me.  I don't go into work until 11 this morning.  I don't know how that's going to go but we shall see.  I always tend to do too much before I go when I go later.

Gloria, my oldest daughter's birthday "cake" was always cherry pie.  I even found ways to send them by friends when she was in college in VA!  One of her friends always referred to me as "Cherry Pie Mama"!

I wish you all a good day.  It's yours!  Do what you wish with it!

All is well here... tomorrow I do my

I really love this ,  as I
hate grocery shopping.. Much
easier ordering online and
letting them do the packing up

Sorry to see that so many
are having problems with the

I certainly will miss them if

Please don't anyone go!  This is my release.  I come here when I need someone to  talk to about things I'd rather not shove on my kids.  You all understand and you don't think I'm asking for help.  Sometimes we just need to say it and saying it in type sure helps.

We're having wind, too.  It's whoshing around corners and whistling down chimneys and if there's any place for it to get inside, it finds it!  It practically blows the whiskers off the dogs and the thoughts out of my head.  I don't think I like wind any more than I like rain!  I'm really getting picky in my old age~

I just got home from work and the 11 to 3 was pretty good.  I don't think it was as tiring as some of the other shifts.  I guess that's good because I have 5 more of them coming up in the next couple weeks.

Now I suppose my next senence will sound like a retraction of the above paragraph but I think I'll try to catch a few zzzzs before I have supper.  Maybe more people will have visited by the time I get back.  I wish....

Jane, I feel about the same way.  I cannot understand when I check in in the morning that there have been no posts during the night.  You and I are on EST (yet) and there are two time zones west of us and no one from those areas have posted.  I realize we cannot have as many folders as we had in SN, but in those days, I checked folders four times a day - morning, noon, suppertime and before I went to bed.  Now I check more often and many times there are no posts.  For another month, I'm lost because the ships on the Grand Lakes are in for repairs.  Things should start up at the end of March so I'll have a little more to check.  But in the meantime!!!  I wish more people would post in this folder and Norm's B&T.  I know you don't want to and that's OK, but there are others who could, who were part of the Aardvarks and Michigan folders.  All of them are not as old as I am!

Boy, HOWDY! Did I ever make a mistake signing up for NOMOROBO calls........can't believe I've talked to just about everyone with Cox and still don't have the problem solved and today the Cox lady could NOT CoNTACT Nomorobo to straighten them out. This is a service sold to many (guess about all) of the phone servers so they are busy selling and not handling the customers. The Cox lady was very nice but couldn't do anything without being able to have them change their settings. SO, bottom line is just like a few minutes ago, robo calls that manage to come through and my kids calls do not!   :tissue:  :angry2:  :argue:  :banghead:  :bash:  :bonk:  :chatter:   :nopity:

I'm like the rest of you that "this is my neighborly coffee break" .... and would certainly miss all of you if the site folds. Maybe we need to check to see if it is in danger of folding & try to make plans for where we could get together to visit.  I think there was an AARP site was how I found SeniorNet.... or maybe it was a Yahoo chat place. Any suggestions?  We may need to lump together the photos & Soda Shoppe, not sure if Norm's spot has the same visitors, Mary Ann, what do you think?  I don't visit all the other discussions so don't know how they are doing, but I did check on the Christian Photographer's site that Pat also heads up, looks like most of their discussions are almost abandoned.

Maybe Michael can give us a heads up for what is going on, MAYBE, Michael??

My what a day!! We were lucky here, no power outage but others in this province can't say the same. Multi car pile ups, thankfully no one was seriously hurt. We still have high winds but slowly dying down. The temp is also going  down, way down.

I managed to clean all  the areas of snow, get 3 pie crust made and in the freezer and a nap. Nap was fine until dogs thought they should romp on the bed!!

Pup is doing well, he is just a pup and just full of energy!!

Looked out earlier and saw crow looking for food so I pup more seed out to be treated to 2 crows eating then the doves came and blue jays later...love watching them.
Did you see the poor eagle on the nest with all the snow???

Hope everyone is in where it is warm and safe.

Shirley, while there are some people who post both here and in Norm's folder, some only post in one or the other.  There are more posters here than in Norm's.  The discussions in both groups are very different.  Larry, when he is able, has the same first paragraph for both folders, then his comments relate to what has been written in both folders.  He does not have duplicate messages.  When I post, I respond to what is written and I get carried away often.  I do not look in many of the folders so I do not know what their participation is.  I think if all of the folders had as much going on as these two folders, there were be no worry.

One thing for concern is that Pat Halbach is not well (I think).  I don't think she is at death's door, but it is my understanding that she isn't well.  If she would decide it was too much, we'd be up a creek without a paddle!

So there you have my thoughts!

Mary Ann, I think you have the right idea... about where everyone hangs out but was wondering if consolidating would be less trouble for the people that take care of the site. I really do not know how "these things" operate, but if the site should shut down like Senior Net did, if it hadn't been for Pat making a place for us, we would never have found each other again. That's why I was "sounding out" what choices we have or if Michael can warn us ahead so we can make plans. I have never looked for other sites, don't do Twitter or Facebook and don't plan to.

Had news today that another of my cousins died this morning. Sure is sad when it used to be such a huge crowd and so few left. I don't plan to go to the funeral because weather just too iffy right now. My daughter & I plan to be in that little town 20 miles east of Jefferson City, MO the middle of March and I had thought about calling the cousins to see if we could meet at a local restaurant for coffee or to eat... but didn't want to plan ahead because of weather. It is about 350 miles one way for me so I would drive one day & set up camp, have the whole next day to spend with my daughter visiting the historical museum & where my gr-parents house is in Bonnots Mill, little town a few miles from Linn that was a French trading post early on. Whole town is on the Historical Register, the owner of the mill (pronounced Bun-no) was related. My mother's family also lived in the area so growing up I thought we were related to everyone. Most of Mother's brothers & sisters lived on farms but Dad's father was a telegrapher, on the school board, played cornet in the town band & belonged to one church while Mother's family belonged to the only other one in town. Dad and 2 of his brothers went to the first auto school in Kansas City, one had a transmission shop in Jefferson City but the other one stayed around town to keep everyone in that little town running. Dad went to work for the railroad in the signal department and stayed on until he was 67 because they couldn't find anyone to replace him.. and that was a fact. He was asked to stay on longer to work any hours he wanted just to trouble shoot for them. He declined & lived to 95. More than anyone wanted to read about....  ::) My mind is wandering tonight, death in the family does that, brings back memories.

Since my son can't call me he will have his feelings hurt if I don't call him before I go to bed. They do worry about me & he is the one that checks to see I am okay every night. Hope the phones get cured tomorrow or I may have to dump them & get another service. Yuck... I hate changes!

Sweet dreams to all & think spring!  My poor little surprise lilies are way out of the ground but daffodils are not showing yet. Some of the grass (maybe weeds?) looks green. No snow on the ground here but talking about freezing rain, sleet & snow in the next few days. MO is getting all of the snow & rain that has missed us, we are really dry.

SHIRLEY, I remember an AARP website but it wasn't as much fun as this one.

When I first came on the SN website, about the third time I posted I was warned in no uncertain terms not to make comments in a conversation between two certain people in the International Café.  I was vulnerable enough and new enough to have my feelings hurt and I didn't post again for almost a week.  Then someone must have noticed that I hadn't returned and she emailed me and asked if I'd like to try posting in Bis Busy Nest.  At first I didn't want to but she insisted and I tried and here I am MANY years later thanks to Ardith Matreskie.

I hope this hasn't happened to any of our members because that kind of thing can hurt for a long time.  I was lucky!

And now I'm going off to Dreamland!  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  (In case you haven't put 2 and 2 together, that last line is Tiny Tim's from Dickens "Christmas Carol". I always loved it!)

Good Morning everyone. well Shirley you can talk about me any time you like, I do not want to hurt you or any one an do not do on porpoise. I often open my mouth and put my foot in it. and as long as one talks about me they are leaving alone someone that that can't take it as well as i can.have a great day everyone. 24º and mostly clear here today and shooting for high of 50º today. Nancy and I went and looked at a car yesterday. did not buy it because it was too low, she had a hard time getting in and out of it. it wa a 03 year model chive 2 dor super sport, with 203 acutial miles on it.the original owner had put on it and he had a stroke and died soon after in a nursing home. it was tied up in the estate battle. was priced @ $7,000, if it had been higher off of the ground where she could get in and out easily we would bought it in a heartbeat. it would have been a good car to tow behind the R V to have to drive local when we get to a place we want to hang out for a while.

Good morning everyone..

-13°  F this morning, no new snow to deal with either.
We need to pick up the new med this morning. Not sure how this will go, I have read up on it and for some it is a blessing, others not so.

Shirley, with all the history in your family has anyone put it all down on paper so it lives on?

Lloyd ,what a find!! We also find getting in and out of vehicles difficult. We don't have any problems with the van though.

Time to get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm up and attem!  Well, I'm up!  The doggies have been out and in and had their pill and we're waiting for the boinger.

I don't have any special plans for today but I got the stuff out to make chicken pot pie....with the accent on POT.  It's not a pie.  It the stuff that dough, potatoes, chicken and seasonings made in a POT and eaten more like soup but the dough chunks are BIG!  It's a German dish introduced in my family by my German grandfather's family.

AMY, I hope the new meds are beneficial and don't have any serious side effects.  You and your hubby need all the help you can get!

LLOYD, we're so happy to have you posting here that we'd feel left out any day you didn't post.  You're family!

SHIRLEY, please make sure your family history is available to your descendents.  My sister is our family historian and I've noticed lately that her daughter, my niece, is beginning to be her "second in command".  She has a lot of the family answers at her finger tips and she's raising a historian of her own.  I hope she develops an interest in family history, too.

I'm off to check my email and work on the paper  that seems to have overtaken my office.  I told the kids I'm doing that for them so they won't have to do it when I'm gone.  They thanked me!

Have a great day...chilly but great!

Good morning everyone, short post this morning. Lost power with the wind last night and since I got up it comes on and goes off again. Very windy all day and last night, still windy this morning. The wind whistles in this corner but at least the windows do not rattle.

JANE  I found Sn in a small local newspaper. Sounded good to me but I tried posting in a few places and was ignored.  I did not post in Wit and Wisdom where Joan's nest was. Mare emailed me and wanted me to try the Nest. That was all it took to get to enjoy my PC.

Lights just blinked again so better say bye bye for now. At least we do have heat.
Have a good day and keep warm.

Hi Everyone. It is another cloudy but warmer day here.  Our calendar is clear for today so will just be taking it easy.  Pat may take my Samsung Tablet back to Costco today.  I didn't like it at all and so Saturday I order an new iPad, which I will use at my easy chair.  I have an older iPad that Pat is using upstairs so don't anticipate any problems getting it set up as there is a lot of similarity with the iPhone.  It is suppose to be here Thursday or Friday.  I did empty the dishwasher this morning for Pat, got the ice pack to her back when she got up and made her coffee.  I told her that was my work for today.  :) I have read all of the postings since I posted yesterday and it seems you all are keeping busy.  Otherwise just checking in for today.

Shirley, probably both folders could be combined, merely by all switching to one folder, but both have a history and which one would you choose to close down?

If I can write books, especially about my family, Shirley, so can you.  I'm always interested in reading about other people.  I can't read books now because of my eyes, but my favorite books are non-fiction biographies.  And I have several, both of prominent people and unknowns.  If you have not started writing about your family, you should start NOW!

I'm sorry about your cousin.  That's what happens when we get older.  I had only six first cousins and there is only one left now.  I think she has two cousins remaining and I am one of them. My close friends are also gone, but I am fortunate that Dot and I are good friends.

Gloria, I had read about SN or whatever it was called then, but did nothing until Norm told me how to get to his account and if it didn't take too long, he wouldn't have to pay.  In fact, if HE had to pay, I'd have to pay him back!  And things progressed from there.

Jane, I like chicken pot pie but since I don't cook any more (and I know Tom would not attempt one), I buy Mrs Callendar's Chicken with Mushroom Pot Pie.  Sometimes I eat only the inside and sometimes I cut the pie in half and eat that much.  Mrs C makes a good pie.  I like her Turkey Pot Pie too.

Amy, at 8:30 am here, it was 15 degrees and is only 16 degrees now at 10 am.  I laugh when someone tells about having trouble getting into vehicles.  Tom's daughter's boss lets her drive a truck, supercab type.  Usually Tom takes me to appointments, but once when he scheduled something at the same time as my appointment, Annie took me in this big black truck.  I could not get in the thing; it was too high.  She couldn't push me in, either.  She finally took a kid's plastic chair from my garage and I stepped on that to get into the truck.

I'd better put this book to rest.

MARY ANN, as I noted above, Pennsylvania Dutch or German pot pie is NOT a pie.  It's chicken (0r ham) in broth in a POT with small dough squares and potatoes added.  This one was easy because I had the chicken and broth already cooked and the dough squares cut.  The hardest part of it was peeling and slicing the potatoes.  I never really liked the ones my grandfather referred to as "meat pie" like the ones you mentioned.  I'm just not really a pie person.....or a cake one either.  My last birthday cake was a pan of brownies.

The potpie is simmering in the crock pot and should be ready for a meal by lunch time.  You're welcome to join me if you'd like to try it.

Jane, I remember your describing the German Pot Pie earlier.  From your description, you have a lot more "pie" than I get with Mrs Callendar's.  Even though Mrs C's pies have a top and bottom crust, I can't really say they are pies.  I guess pies are desserts to me and they definitely are not desserts.  One thing I like, very similar to Pot Pies is a Pastie and you probably are familiar with them.  They are a Michigan Upper Peninsula specialty.

Your German pie sounds something similar to what my dad used to make - chicken dumplings.  His dumplings were not squares, but clumps that he would drop into the hot liquid of broth, vegetables and chicken.

Good afternoon.   Just checking in as I don't think I have been here for a couple days.

Jane,  is the Pot Pie you are talking about like the one they call "Slippery Pot Pie".  I always make the kind where you put a top crust on it, but I just love the kind you are talking about.  With the pieces of dough as the dumplings.  I tried it one time, but the dumplings didn't raise that much.

I remember years ago, on one of our camping trips to FLorida, we stopped at a campground in Georgia and they were having a Pot Luck.  So we went and they had this big bowl of , what my husband and I thought had like scalloped potatoes in it.  But, after talking to a couple of the ladies it was what they called Chicken and Dumplings.  And, the dumplings were pieces of dough that were about 1/2 in. thick.  It was so delicious.   And,  I think The Cracker Barrel restaurant serves something almost identical.  I love "doughy" things.  Is that about what your dumplings are like??  Is it just pie dough you use and how thick do you roll out the dough.  When you put them down in the chicken broth, they expand.  I am making myself hungry just thinking about it.

I am not sure if it was this place where different ones were talking about Jack from W.Va  dropping out of S & F.  I did have an e-mail from him and he told me that he definitely won't be returning.   I feel so bad about that.   I hope that it is just because he didn't really like all the new changes and not something else.  His pictures of his dog and the walks around Oglebay park will sure be missed.

I did not go back and read a lot of the past messages, so I just want to say that I hope everyone is doing well and if you are not up to par,  I hope that you will have a better rest of today, and that tomorrow will be an even better day.  Take care !

[bGood afternoon, another cold and very windy day.

MaryAnn, I enjoy both folders.  I try not to write the same thing.  I just wish I could go to page one and it would have just one day of posting Not have to go through a couple of days to get here where I want to write. I forget what I want to say to different folks. I find you and I  have to many thing similar, Wonderful nephews who work for Uber, same age,  a cat who seems to be boss at times. :) Likes our bed as well as we do.

Shirley, and all other friends I love reading your post. Makes my day. Do not learn anything looking at the boobtube all day.    Of course I have to take time out to watch my soap Gen. Hosp. at 3. It is better then watching the news At list I know most of it is a fairy  tale. what they call it LOve in the Afternoon!?

HI!Larry and June, hope each day is a better day. I know once Spring is here and I can set on the deck read my paper, have coffee  or read in the sunroom. This rain everyday and no sun make me depressed. Sunroom I will be happier.

Gloria I hope you are feeling better after your shopping adventure last week.

I like to make chicken and dumplings in the winter.  But it is too much when you are alone.  dumplings do not freeze well.  I am still eating macaroni and tuna that I made the other day. I do not lack for food. One neighbor brought me over roast chicken, string beans and dressing, another brought steak and veggies.  Most of the time I am not even hungry.  Wish I could get to the Red LObster, they are having lobster specials. I like when one neighbor brings over mussels cooked in
Asian sauce. I guess I had better stop writing , as I seem to be going off about nothing

Joy, when I made dumplings I always used either Bisquick or Jiffy mix... & dropped spoon full in bubbling broth. My family loved it & wasn't much trouble. I am in the middle of making some veggie beef soup today so better to keep it going, never make it the same twice, but do use the heart of celery & potatoes fresh, roast beef & whatever drippings or gravy it had plus frozen veggies of all varieties.

My grandmother used to make dumplings and I think of them as a "food stretcher" from the Depression era.  Hers were whipped up and had egg whites and flour and when they were dropped in the broth, they got really puffy.  I didn't really like them but we weren't allowed to say so.  I just ate them until the day one gagged me and I almost threw up.  I never had to eat them after that.

Pot pie dough is made of whole eggs, flour and a little salt and a little milk or water.  It's rolled out like pie dough but not as thin then cut in squares and then it's dropped into the boiling broth.

JOY, I think we talked about the "slippery pot pie" before and I went and googled it and it's pretty much the same.  I think I found it on a PA Dutch website.

I ate leftovers for lunch after the dog groomer left.  I'm going to have the pot pie for supper and there's plenty.  Also, it does freeze well.  I know that because when I went to Texas, it was the first meal I had make after I got there and the last one I had to make before I left.  They had to have some to freeze for later so they could "remember my visit".

I'm off to do some yard cleanup.  Yuck!

Shirley, I think the dumplings my dad made were similar to yours.  I have his recipe if I weren't too lazy to look for it.  He made it from scratch and would put a teaspoonful in the hot broth.  It's been a loonng time since he made it and I think I may not be remembering it right, but since I don't cook now, I'll never know!

Gloria de, you're right, we do have many similarities - nephew and cat in particular.  I think Kendrick is on my bed now and when he's on the bed, I usually do not make it.  I hate to disturb him.

I try to not write the same thing in both folders, but as there are different people in both folders, it isn't hard.

Gloria:  I remember your daughter is in Arizona.  Yes, she is cooler at that altitude.  In Colorado, we live at almost 6,000 ft. and that is quite a difference than here in Tucson (for the winter).  We had heavy snow for a couple of days and now we hope it is warming - our daughter is arriving soon.

JaneS:  I cannot read what I wrote to write you right now  :-\

Amy:  Mosquitoes are the state birds in Minnesota.  You have them too!  Either snow or bug bites all year long.

Lloyd You have a beautiful Christmas Cactus - I like that color too.

Hi Shirley!!!

Joy:  Stamp your feet!  Good foryou!

Mycheal:  Thanks for the Eagle photo.

roley:  We have watched the news on the very sad story from the plane crash.  Hugs to the now grown up man who carried that worry all these years.  He is not to blame.....another country is to blame.

Phyllis:  "The sun will come out tomorrow - tomorrow"

Gloria de:  Glad you are feeling better.  Keep on keeping on!

Jenny:  Play the song "Dancing Queen" for your talented granddaughter!   Hugs

Don's cousin and wife left after lunch, we will next see them in Minnesota.  They too grew up looking over the Duluth bridge and canal.  Brrrrr  They are happy to visit Arizona.  I have to get everything ready again as our daughter is arriving for six days.  She can work from here too so we just give her a few suggestions and let her choose any day trips.

CAROL, I had to comment on that one!  I'm not sure I understand it but it reminded me of something that happened in penmanship class in Third Grade.  First you have to know that my growing up last name was WRIGHT.  I became so frustrated in that class that I whispered to my seat mate, "I can't even write Wright right today."

Didn't take long for the day to disappear! Picked up Kyles new med to start it tomorrow.....pray it works with no side effects!!
Tomorrow I take him for physio..will see how that goes.

Stopped in at the highway patrol to see if they could knock back our snow bank, it is so high that I have to get 1/3 out in the road to make sure no traffic is coming. He said he would send a truck but we really need a frontend loader to remove all the snow bank.

All this talk of food has made me hungry!! I love chicken and dumplings.Jane, your pot pie sounds delicious also!! Either way tis good comfort food that has been forgotten by most.

Gloria de if only I was closer, we would go for a feed of lobster at Red Lobster. Crab legs would also go down rather nicely!

Carol, we also have another pest......on that you don't know that has bit you till the blood runs down your face/arm or where ever he/she decides to nibble called a Blackfly. Nasty little critters!

Larry, we are so thankful when you say hello...and wish you all  the best.

June, hope your day went well.

Better take this little fellow out for a walk...won't be able to call him little fellow for long at the rate he is growing though.

Amy, I will say this, if the treatment is Humira... my daughter was diagnosed with "chemically induced Lupus when on that drug, was threatened "if she stopped she would have to find another doctor"... but she did and within a couple months, the Lupus was NO LONGER in the diagnosis. Was nothing but a side effect of that drug & I'm betting her doctor never reported that. I know I am biased about drugs because I have every side effect warned about and more. I was not going to say anything but will mention so you can be on alert just in case that's what he will be taking.

I just got off the phone with my sister, she has had weeks of severe pain in her neck from a long ago car accident, has had it flare up now & then but this time went for pain meds. After a few days of a couple different meds she was suffering from sores in her mouth & other side effects so stopped the one & plans to quit the other this week. Her doctor's comment was, "but they stopped the pain!"

Sometimes the cure is very scary & choices must be made. I'll join Jane in praying for no side effects.

Trying to get these cats organized is like training fleas to walk single file!  They think they should be eating the whole time they are awake (or sleeping if full)... It is really cold & supposed to have freezing drizzle tonight, they don't understand & I'm not going to spend the whole evening letting them in & out. I'm going to bed early so one more meal & they better decide where they will spend the night. :tickedoff:

Finally have the phones working, had Cox completely remove Nomorobo from my system. This was the day I gave up when the lady I talked to yesterday failed to call like she promised... so I got on the chat line & found someone that removed the app or whatever it was called, it sure didn't work for me.  Bottom line is I still have to use my husband's e-mail & password to login to make any changes to the account (can you believe in this day & age) seems nobody can just remove HIS name and type mine in as primary user. Wonder what they'd think if I sent them a check with HIS name and a bank account that was closed nearly 6 years ago.... I was told that "if that account was deleted it would also delete MY mailbox as a user."  My brain is tired from all the fighting over this... since last December!  It's over, done....

Time for that midnight snack & see if Callie is back at the front door. They have been in & out so many times this evening I can't remember who's in & who is out.  :crazy2:

Good night to all, sweet dreams and God Bless.  Shirley

Mycheal, I was watching the eagle about that time & an hour earlier, wondering if she had the 2nd egg under, she was moving around trying to get comfy. Bless their hearts, those mama birds sure are patient creatures. She looks miserable with that snow all around. So far I haven't seen her mate show up with food, but she was eating on something.

My shift today is another 11 - 3 and it was OK the last time.  We're supposed to have snow showers most of the day today.  Maybe I'll throw the broom in the car just in case I need to clean off the car to come home.

Janie, thank you for the prayers...medicine is a marvel but at times the side effects are worse than what they are trying to cure.

Shirley, no,not Humira. I have heard about that one and was thankful it wasn't the one.

I had better get ready ,time is slipping away on me..again.

Good morning everyone, 11° but feels like 0° with the windchill. Snow starting at 7pm for 12 hours. Will wait and see how close the weather guessers are. Just heard that someone wants a clean injection site where people can go to use clean needles for their drugs. Next will be making those drugs legal? Crazy. What is the world co‌ming to?

LARRY  you must have felt good yesterday to do all you did in the morning. Take care of YOU and don't do too much.

JANE  your pot pie sounds like more of a stew with dumplings.

JOY  only once did I make dumplings from scratch but they were heavy, I make them with Bisquick and the are lighter.

GLORIA  de  it was only on the day after my shopping spree that I was worn out. You ready for some more bitter cold and snow? I want warmer temperatures so I can get outside for some walking and fresh air.

SHIRLEY  after the one time I made dumplings from scratch I use Bisquick and they are always good.

CAROL  my daughter sent me some pictures of the snow they had. Of course she remembers the snow we had here and she bundled up and went out. My SIL went out for a short time but the snow and cold are not for him. Their dog does not like the cold either.

AMY  I would go with you and Gloria de to Red Lobster. Yummy. Been much too long since I last had a lobster.

SHIRLEY  seems some people these days are book smart but have no common sense and do not know how to change a name and understand that the name an account was in is no longer alive. Dumb.

Time to get moving here. Have a good day and keep warm.

Gloria, the dough in my pot pie is NOTHING like dumplings!  If it was, I wouldn't eat it.  Don't like dumplings!  Never have!

Gotta get going!  Snow showers have begun here and it doesn't look much like "showers" to me.  It's coming down pretty good.  And it's my fault!  I forgot to put the car under cover last night.  It always snows when I do that!

It is going to be another nice day here getting up to about 70 degrees this afternoon with a chance of a few showers.  Yesterday afternoon our minister visited us for 30 minutes or so, which was very enjoyable.  Early yesterday evening one of our friends from Sunday School brought us a meal plus.  She brought over enough food to about 3 meals and it was good as we had some of it for our supper last evening.  I was shocked yesterday afternoon when my new iPad was delivered as hadn't expected it until tomorrow or Friday.  I also got the new case and keyboard that I had ordered for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet.  Unfortunately, those two items will have to be returned as neither worked with my new iPad.  It took a couple of hours to get the new iPad up and running but that includes the automatic backup of all of the apps I have running on my phone.  These were all stored in the iCloud.  I was a happy camper when I found I will be able to work my daily crossword puzzles on the new iPad.  If I made one step forward yesterday morning I took at least two steps back by 8 pm when I went to bed. I guess I overdid yesterday morning, although it wasn't very much. I think I was a weary as I have ever been in this siege and am short of breath this morning.  I do have a 1:45 appointment for my routine pacemaker check at 1:45 this afternoon.  Scott is off today and will take me as I am going to need to use the transport chair this afternoon.  I am taking another pass today on making individual comments to the fine postings we have here since I read yesterday and posted yesterday.

Good morning.  It is a pretty sunny morning, but still cold.

Jane, I sure hope to  be able to make some of your recipe for Chicken and dumplings.  They are the kind of dumplings that  I like.  I like "doughy" things.  But, I will probably roll the dough out a little thicker than 1/4 in.  What I remember having at that Pot Luck we went to,  was something that looked like "little pillows" and were real soft and "doughy".

I think the Crackle Barrel version is very similar.  Just need to get all the ingredients together.  Will probably cut the ingredients  in half.

Gloria, yes, I usually would make the Bisquick dumplings,  but as Jane  mentioned.  her kind her nothing like the Bisquick ones.  But, I do think they are good, also.  And, they are quick.

When my mother used to make bean soup, she would make an egg dumpling to put in it.  I think it was just egg and flour and she would drop small little balls of the dough into the bean soup.  And, they would soak up a lot of the juice.

Gloria, I was able to get to Walmart on Sunday for a few things.  And, then my DIL and I went out to lunch.  I wasn't that tired as I only did a little bit of walking in the store.  Most of the time, I just get a shopping cart and hold on to that to help me get around.  Only thing, the shopping cart doesn't have a place to sit.  But, I wasn't in there that long, so it all worked out good.  I don't think I had been shopping since before Christmas.  Everything was out for Easter and summertime.

Amy, I , too , am hoping the new medicine will work out well for your husband.  I know the side effects can be pretty devastating at times.  I take a chemo pill that had 3 pages of side effects,  but luckily, I have not had too much problem with the side effects.  They are manageable. I think they have to list every kind of a side effect that has affected at least one person.  I guess it just depends on the person and  how their body is affected by the medicine.

I hope everyone has a good day.  And, hope all of you are not bothered by any severe weather.  Spring is on the way, somewhere !!!

Joy

Jane, I noticed a lack of postings too.  I posted in Norm's B&T about 5:30 last night, then Tom and I went to Holland MI to babysit his granddaughters (had a ball).  We got back here about 10:30 and when I came online there were no posts in any of the folders, so that was a five hour gap.  The next poster there was Marilyne and she lives in CA, three hours later than EST and probably at 9 am my time.

The granddaughters are two as of the first of February, chattering and moving all over the place.  They are fun to be with for a few hours, but I woke up this morning at 9:30 and that is unusual for me.

We had snow overnight but thankfully we don't have to shovel or plow!

Tom is subbing at a school nearby today and will be gone until suppertime.

Snowing again, I hope it finds the stop button soon!!

Joy, my friend was on chemo med,if it dropped and broke open you had to wear a mask and gloves to pick it up....yet he could take it internally. This med worked for his cancer, longer than the oncologist thought it would. Once his blood numbers went wild and the Dr doubled the dose, when I took him to the hospital for an unrelated problem he told the nurse about the double dose. She said you can't be that is enough to kill an elephant! He related that back to his oncologist and the Dr said well,John it was either kill or cure and it worked out alright!!

Jane, David was to the south of you and phoned me  from Harrisburg ,no snow there but said you would be having some.

June is missing...

JOY, when you roll the "noodles" for potpie, remember that they do expand a bit while cooking and if you roll them thicker it might take a little longer to cook to an edible state.

I'm going to go rest a bit.  Today was a very busy one at WM and I had two very busy registers.  Then  my cell phone disappeared and I had to crawl around inside the car looking for it.  I called it and could hear it ringing but I couldn't find it.  Seems it had lodged between the two seats and when I moved the seats to look under them, it moved too.  Fun and games!  Anyway, I'm beat and I'm going to check out the zzzzs on the sofa before I feed the doggies and me our supper.

Larry, good to see you.  Now where's JUNE!

AMY, the snow didn't amount to much up here either.  Did David go through this area?

[size=4 Good evening scatted snow showers were in the weather report to day.

Felt better to day then O have felt in a long time.  Even thinking about teaching a class in Homemakers. I will offer it Friday if I go.  Iwill teach a dish towel bunny, it is one dish towel and two dish cloths and ribbon or one hand towel and two face cloths. Makes a cut gift. and I pin a saying on it; I Am your towel Bunny,    When you get tired of me, Untie my bows, I will be two wash cloths and a drying towel. I do things like this to keep me out of trouble :D I am not getting out like I use to, so I have to do something.  Just finished a pray shawl for some patient in the hospital. Always get a nice letter from the chaplin when I make one. God is keeping me on this earth to do something, I guess

I'm off to Dreamland soon.  I have to go out and put the car in the carport before I go to bed because snow showers are predicted overnight.  I brought them on again but it wasn't my fault this time.  I had the car under cover then I had to take it back out so I could get at the floors to find my lost cell phone.  I found it but I didn't put the car back.

Now I'm going to go do that and then chase the doggies out for a last "go" and then hit the hay.  I have dentist appointment tomorrow and I've already postponed it for two snow storms so I want to be sure to make it this time.

I wish you all pleasant dreams and may God bless us, every one!

I am sure worried about Our JUNE.  NOT good to not have a post from her.  I ask Our Good Lord to keep his loving arms around her.

JANE, we have lost our cell phones between our car seats and they are near to impossible to get them out, so I can relate.  I hope the snow holds off so you can get to your dental appointment tomorrow.

GLORIA de, I was so pleased to read that you had such a good day.....your dish towel bunny sounds very cute.  Your prayer shawl must be very appreciated.

AMY,  your story on the chemo meds is frightening!  The doctors response is unbelievable.  I, too, sure hope the meds will work for your Kyle, and will not cause him more problems.

What fun, MARYANN, getting to spend time with the girls.  They are at such a cute age now.

LARRY, I hope your trip to the doctor went well and did not wear you out totally.  Happy your new iPad arrived before you expected it and seems to be meeting up to your needs.

I spoke to Diane this evening and she said she is getting very concerned for my dad, and she sure is glad we are coming.  I talked to him every day and he sounds good, his voice is strong.  He however never tells me any details about himself.  I am sure glad we are going, but Tuesday seems further away than I would like.

I must get to bed....pleasant dreams to all.

[Good early morning been snowing all night another cannot sleep night. Right now I am having my Ovaltine, and an Everything bagel later will put the coffee on and have the other half bagel.

Good morning Larry, wish you could join me.

Jenny see you have already posted early or was it just late. I know your dad is looking forward to seeing you. I know talking on the phone I never say how I really feel.  My grandson who had the tuma on his spine a few years ago and spent nearly a year in hospitals calls me once a week.  I believe in that saying: Miracles Do Happen. They had said he would not walk again. He's now back working.

Amy, hope the meds. work.  I is scary reading all the side effects. One of mine I stop taking as it said it could cause memory loss, I do not need that 95 :)

MaryAnn, how nice you got to spend time with the twins.  I have been looking at NY Harbor and the Vernarrows Bridge.  I read in the paper yesterday the toll will be $19. next month :o Also Been looking at times square, surprise  to see so many people walking around. Not snowing in the city. Still dark out in Duluth. Maybe I will hope back into bed. I see it is getting daylight. Paperman just left the paper

Good morning everyone..

-22° F out there but a sunny day it is to be. I do have a wee dance with the snow blower this morning and Mr
Mop has been sulking so a waltz with him later.

Jane, I don't know which way he went but the next time I talk with him I will ask. Think he is on his way to NC.

Jenny, have a safe trip to see your Dad. Is there any way he and Dianne would go into a retirement home?

Gloria de, we like the everything bagel with cream cheese. Your bunny sounds cute and would love see photos of your prayer shawl and bunny.

Lloyd, good morning, have you found a man to fix your bumper yet?

Mary Ann, the twins would be so cute to watch. Do they dress alike?

The morning is going faster than I want to move but I had better.

Now to hear from  Joy, Shirley and June

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm up and attem and we didn't get the amount of snow that was predicted so I'll be fine when I go to the dentist around noon.

I opted NOT to go back out last night and the car seems to be OK.  No snow....now ice on the windshield.  Snow is predicted for later today so I'm going to try to get my outside errands done this morning.  And there is a big one predicted for the weekend.  I'd be happy if it didn't amount to much.  SPRING, WHERE ARE YOU!

Enjoy your day Everyfriend.  Make it yours in every way!

Good morning.

Jane, we are supposed to have some snow tomorrow morning and I probably won't get to go out to lunch with some friends and family.  We are just going to play it by ear, for now. But, it doesn't sound too promising.  Glad that you will be able to get to your appointment.  I know I had to change 2 doctor's appointments due to the snow.  Couldn't get new ones until the end of March.

I know we are supposed to have a rainy week end, but didn't hear any mention of snow.  So, hopefully, you will be able to just keep it up your way. LOL

It is a very pretty and sunny day out my window right now.

I mentioned over in the Soda Shoppe, that the several boards that I post in have been very slow.  I am hoping that everyone just is so tired of the cold, snow and wind that they just don't have anything better to talk about.

So, hopefully, the new month will be forth a new awakening.  Sure would hate for this site to fold up.

Have a good day.

Joy

At 10 am, morning is nearly over and here I sit at the computer.  I don't have anything special to do today, just more of the same.  The sun is shining but we won't get out of the 20s today.  Spring will come!

Yes, I had a wonderful time with the girls the other evening.  They keep each other company and provide entertainment for each other.  Amy, when the girls were born, someone, probably from their church, gave them a lot of hand-me-downs and they're still using those.  Sometimes their clothes are close in looks, but not usually.  If I get ambitious, I'll see if I have any decent pictures of them and send them to Bubble to post - but don't hold your breath!

Jenny, I worry about your father too because he is the same age as I am.  I feel fine, but I know I can't do what I used to do and I don't even try.  I will tell you that Tom and his kids take very good care of me.  The other families do not live near me so they can't help.

I wonder, too, about June.

GOOD MORNING, EVERYFRIEND!  :hello:

Cold in this neck of the woods but to get a little warmer than yesterday. Strange weather~~

Cats have been fed, they sure don't like the latest tuna (cheapest) that I got them, all 3 left it in their dish this morning & just opened the can yesterday. Salmon has gone way up so I thought I'd give them a spoon full of tuna to stretch the salmon out (breakfast).... Something different about this batch... scary part it is "people" tuna & must not be the same quality as what I was getting before.

Time to feed me, I hard boiled eggs yesterday so will have one with a bowl of oatmeal. I still only eat the old fashioned kind that you have to cook & put milk & sugar in. My daughter has been eating it but puts in different kinds of fresh fruit & nuts after it is cooked. She has turned her diet around & lost every ounce she wanted, her doctor is amazed that all vitals are perfect without meds.

Jenn, was thinking about your father & wondering if he has friends to talk to about their aches & pains if maybe he would realize that he isn't the only one with back problems "as we age".  The old saying, "misery loves company" is true, I think, even if it means we have to realize that sometimes others are really worse off than we are.... Does he have any hobbies to take his mind off?  To be honest, these cats helped Cas through the days. They would visit with him any time he was near and old LaurenKat would follow him inside & out, begging to be held. She was such a tiny little thing compared with these others. I would much rather have a dog that could go on a leash with me but the cats have earned a happy life.

You girls in the east are seeing a lot more snow that my area... I've been begging for it all winter & nothing. I do "picture it" (thanks, Sophia)...when y'all talk about it, so thanks!

Onward! Andy called to say his grands are both home with the flu so he is doing prep work for his classes tomorrow... mid-term already. He admits the pay is not worth the time spent but he feels like he is investing "in the next generation" by helping them understand what type workers these companies need. From what I heard from others, he got very good ratings on his teaching skills. He goes to get his grands up 3 days a week, so they don't have to rush & be dropped off when Mom & Dad goes to work. He doesn't know what "retirement" is, so far he has 2 extra paying jobs & spends other days taking care of his grands.

This is not getting my day off to a good start... eating breakfast & getting dressed at 9:30.. half the day is gone!  :-[  Oops, Hi, Joy, Mary Ann & Lloyd!

Hi Everyone. We are expecting it to get to around 70 degrees today with some rain later in the day.  My visit to the pacemaker clinic went well yesterday and my battery should last about 15 months more before the pacemaker/defibrillator will need to be replaced.  The technician told me they do that at my cardiologists office since it is a simple procedure as long as the three wires into the heart are in good shape.  Scott had been to the dentist yesterday morning for a crown preparation so he wasn't feeling very good and didn't spend any time with us.  His jaws were aching but the dentist gave him a prescription for something to help relax this jaws and he was feeling better last evening.  He will be out again late this afternoon to have dinner with us.  He is bringing pizza and a few other things for our dinner tonight with something we can freeze for later meals.  He said he would stop by his store and make the pizza himself and then bring it out here uncooked so we can have it fresh out of the oven.  I was pretty tired all day yesterday but do feel less tired today and plan to take things nice and quiet.  Last night after using my oxygen concentrator for 3 hours it dies and wouldn't restart.  I called about it this morning and they have already brought out another unit.  Fortunately I am not dependent on the oxygen as many people are so I still had a good night's sleep.

Amy, you all don't seem to get much relief from the snow and bad weather.  I hope your waltz with your snow blower and Mr. Mop aren't too tiring for you today.

Jane, I have had things drop down between seats and it is a job to get them out.  I have usually been able to get things out by using a ruler or something else thin.  At least you knew you hadn't lost your phone.

Lindancer, nice to see you were feeling better and thinking about teaching another class.  I think my volunteering to do much of anything at a future day is pretty much over since I seem to be so day-by-day and my last commitment I had to resign from with my Al-Anon group.  I no longer sign up to Chair future meeting when the calendar is passed for this reason although I am going to have to get a lot better and stronger before I will be able participate in the group again. I also wish I could join you in a cup of Ovaltime.  I don't think I have had that since I was a child.  A bridge toll of $19 is very high.

Jane, hope your dentist appointment went well today and your got your outside activities accomplished before you got more snow. My SIL told us yesterday that they are expecting another big snow storm starting Sunday.

Jenny, as busy as your stay these next few days until you can return to Phoenix to be with your dad hopefully will go quickly.

Lloyd, not very warm out your way.

Shirley, you have spoiled your cats and they want their salmon back.  Pat often boils from eggs and recently she found she could slice one and put it on her toast with some cheese and bacon bits for her breakfast meal.  She also likes oatmeal.  Glad is able to remain very active after his serious illness.

I have not written to those of you I left comments with in Norm's B&T discussion.  I have to occupy the whole morning writing on these discussions and handling a few other things.  I am about ready to lay down and rest.

Larry, Cas' pacemaker/defib was Boston Scientific and the tech with them visited the cardiologist's office when it was used to get both sides of his heart in "sync" and again after his fall. The first time he was afraid they might have worn out the battery since they had to shock him several times before it worked. They had used the "paddles" the EMS & others use to jolt the heart when it stops, but they weren't strong enough. The nurse did tell me that the defib "would lift his body off the gurney". He was numbed/asleep, so wouldn't know & I did explain to him the next morning what the nurse said when he complained about his chest hurting. Doctors didn't tell him it would be sore later. Anyway, the doctor assured him it did not wear out the battery. When they pointed out the time of evening he fell and later in the week, the time of day his heart raced, etc., was the first time he realized they could track his every movement no matter where he was. He thought it only gave them information when he was near the monitor (like in bed). He was told that he was the first person in KS to receive the small pacemaker/defib., it was about the size of a pack of cigarettes. He had a terrible time with the "pocket" created in his upper chest, to hold it. Kept getting infected so the doctor would have to "scrape it out".... painful. Hope yours has not been as much trouble... I think his was implanted in late 2011.

When my mother died she had not been diagnosed with the valve problem, but at that time (before 1988) I never heard of the Echo, etc. She had a twin sister, a brother & many nieces & nephews with same symptoms & several of us MY generation, have had the aortic valve replaced. That was not Andy's problem (inherited) but since his has already been replaced, something he will need to have checked out the rest of his life.

My cartio told me mine is just fine but I still want to check out the stats, he had me down as "asymptomatic" my last check before surgery! He can't imagine this pink bunny running around with severe problems. Got him fooled, huh?  Seriously, good & bad of that is he does go along with me about the meds but when I explain I am short winded, that doesn't fit in with his image of someone with a problem.

All that being said, point is, research & all have given us a new chance at life and if you hang in there, hopefully your doctors will find a fix for you. Got to keep your muscles in good shape so don't get lazy. <she is smiling as she types this>. Hugs to you....

[Good afternoon, went backto bed at 6Am and woke up at 9am feel better, but still light headed once in awhile.

Larry, I was raised on the non flavored Ovaline and orange eggnog for breakfast. Had all the decoder rings and buttons, Listen to Orphan Annie in the afternoon. They would give you a secret sentence you had to decode. You had to send in the top to the Ovaltine to get your botton.  did not take much to keep us children happy in those days. I am sure this was way before your time. When I turn 16 I was allowed coffee with lot of milk, to wear Tangee lipstick and use Evening in Paris perfume.  All bought in Kresge 5&10 I have something to smile about when I look back. Sweet 16 was the turning point in a girls life in those days

Gloria de.... since I practically "lived" my brothers lives, I know all you are talking about. They also had the decoder rings & saved for everything free. They made the crystal radios with Oatmeal boxes, all very exciting to me. My sister was in to paper dolls & made clothes for them out of magazine pages or even wall paper. Not my style. It seemed to me that we ate cereal for what came in the boxes besides cereal and my brothers had all the fun!

Where we lived on a hill with a back yard that was filled with trees, beyond that the hill went way down with a creek at the bottom where my brothers & friends dug a cave into the side of the bank, tall enough to walk around in. On the other side of the creek was the "tailings" of the button factory that was half way up the next hill. My brothers would cross the creek & the railroad tracks and find rejected buttons that were treasures. Back in those days the buttons really were special, maybe some even hand made. Since they were "dumped" it was okay for them to search for the pretty ones. Like you said, it didn't take much to make us happy. I do remember everyone talking about the hobos that would get off the trains & spend the night in the cave, worried Mother but Dad thought the hobos were nice, just a different life style. He met a lot of them when he first started with the railroad & went out to fix the signals to make sure all were working. The hobos would invite him to eat their turtle soup or whatever they had cooked up. Many times he would take me to the "roundhouse" to check something out and I would get to stand up close to the trains. My sister was never interested in any part of that life but I've always loved watching people. Glad you are feeling better.

Shirley - crystal radios - my dad made a couple for me.  I didn't do it myself, but I did enjoy listening to mine.  I'm trying to think how they worked.

I think I had a decoder ring from some program and Norm and I listened to all of the kids programs in those days.  Mother listened to her soaps during the day and we had the radio around suppertime, then the family listened to the weekly programs.  I watch so little TV that replaced the radio programs.  When my mother watched, those programs were only 15 minutes long.  When I went to high school, I'd come home and ask Mother about what went on with the programs.  I was a Detroit Tiger fan and listened to the games after school when I could.  If a Tiger got a homer, I'd holler loud enough I am sure neighbors up the street could hear me.  I also had paper dolls, but not many. I'd cut models from Wards and/or Sears catalogs for some of my paper dolls, although I did buy books occasionally. I read a lot of books in those days.  Oh, we played outside a lot, all of the neighborhood kids and we had fields to play in.  Those were the days!

Both dances went well and I was glad to let my partners stand in the corner when done. My desk got a purging and the fire was the recipient of the papers that were not needed.

Gloria de, I still have some Evening In Paris  powder and I loved the perfume.

Jane, I talked with David and yes he did go through your area...and he enjoyed telling me that the temp where he was calling from was 56°!!!  Not sure when he will be home but if it is by Mon he came come to lunch with daughter in love, Kyle and I.

Larry, happy to read your visit to the pacemaker clinic went well. Enjoy your pizza!!

Joy, we are also in for more snow this weekend.

Now we have Gloria missing??

AMY, I'm like Cindy....Did he at least wave when he drove past here?

When we were kids my grandfather got my sister and me a little radio for in our bedroom.  Sometimes we listened to it later than we should have.  I'm sure my parents knew this but back then, we thought we were gettina away with something.  I remember all the old shows and they were good!  Played paper dolls too but loved being outside winter and summer.  Ice skated and went sledding in the winter and roller skated and rode bikes in the nice weather.  It was a good life!

Dentist visit was OK and my teeth are all clean and ready for another 6 months of use.

I'll be off to bed pretty soon so I'll wish you all a good night and a great tomorrow!

I'll be watching for June and Gloria...you too, Larry!

Didn't see Phyllis, either.
