Greetings to all.  Well, been kinda busy today. Had to pick up the cleaning lady at 9, then head out to the hospital for my 11 O'clock appointment and then make a load of new appointments.

I now have an appointment to get a shot, then to have a nuclear bone scan and after all that make an appointment back with my Oncologist.  I will have to have the shot every three months and then blood work to check the results of the shots. Plus ultrasound every three months.  I once again had to walk all over the place just to be told to call a phone number.  The bone scan will take 6 hours.  a three hour IV then on the table for 1/2 hour up three more hours.  I told the doctor see what you have to look forward to in your old age....he just grinned and said, like my cardiologist told me, things wear out with age.  Boy do they.

Jackie never came back on today, I hope she is doing o

We went out for dinner tonight, I bought for my Daughter and her husband, her husband takes me to appoints out at the base and drops me off at the front door and goes and parks.  So took them to the Texas Road House and had a nice meal.  Hopefully these appointments at the base will slow down.

Nite, nite, Sweetdreams and God Bless.

Good Night Everyfriend!  I'm really worn out tonight.  In fact, even my shoestrings are in tonight and that's tired!

I hope you all sleep peacefully tonight and wake to a bright, healthy and (whatever else your heart desires) tomorrow!

Halkel, I couldn't use my right hand, I had trouble typing....thank you so much for thinking of me and caring......

All day yesterday I just dozed and dozed, never felt so ill, I couldn't do anything...
............................................................

What I read up on MS and illness is.......

" When a person with an autoimmune disease gets sick, those fighter T-cells from the immune system get to work to combat the invading bacteria or virus. Unfortunately those cells goof up on the job and attack the body instead of the real villains. For multiple sclerosis, the central nervous system is attacked; for patients of rheumatoid arthritis, the joints are attacked; for lupus, the body’s organs are attacked, and so forth.

For a person with MS, the attack means that inflammation in the nervous system will likely occur, causing present MS symptoms to worsen and perhaps causing new symptoms to appear. The probability of a relapse is high, often followed by residual damage to one or more areas of the CNS.

To make matters worse, because the immune system isn’t working properly, recovery time is extended. A normal person may recover from a cold in five days; recovery for a person with MS or an autoimmune disease may take up to ten days or even longer. "
................................................

Well even I live and learn, I shall make sure I look after myself in the best way that I can, I cant rely on anyone else.....

I am feeling a little more alive this morning, well I had myself 8 hours sleep in bed along with the sleep I had yesterday...a bit of left chest pain and bloated stomach....I sure would have like to have known what form of bug I picked up.....

CHUCKLES

My Business

A father walks into the market followed by his ten-year-old son. The kid is spinning a 25-cent piece in the air and catching it between his teeth. As they walk through the market someone bumps into the boy at just the wrong moment and the coin goes straight into his mouth and lodges in his throat.

He immediately starts choking and going blue in the face and Dad starts panicking, shouting and screaming for help.

A middle-aged, fairly unremarkable man in a gray suit is sitting at a coffee bar in the market reading his newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee. At the sound of the commotion he looks up, puts his coffee cup down on the saucer, neatly folds his newspaper and places it on the counter. He gets up from his seat and makes his unhurried way across the market. Reaching the boy (who is still standing, but only just) the man takes hold of the kid and squeezes gently but firmly. After a few seconds the boy coughs up the quarter, which the man catches in his free hand.

The man then walks back to his seat in the coffee bar without saying a word.

As soon as he is sure that his son was fine, the father rushes over to the man and starts effusively thanking him.

The man looks embarrassed and brushes off the thanks.

As he's about to leave, the father asks one last question. "I've never seen anybody do anything like that before - it was fantastic - what are you, a surgeon or something like that?"

"No" the man replies, "I work for the IRS, getting people to cough it up is my business."

Food For Thought

Grandpa
By Michael T. Smith

December, 1944, near the end of the of the second world war, the HMCS Clayoquet mine swept off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. She was in preparations to escort a convoy of ships to Europe, when she was struck by a torpedo, fired by a German U-boat.

Eight men lost their lives, including Samul Smith, only 28 years old.

                        ******************
A brisk breeze pushed through the hatchway, cooling her sunburned cheeks. Saltwater lapped at the hull. A mariner's lullaby. Sheila smiled, pondering her perfect life. No people.  Nostress. Just the occasional storm, and sojourns to the mainland for provisions. Just as her tired eyes closed, violent knocking and shouting erupted on her starboard side.  "What the heck?" Sheila rose from her slumber. The knocking continued.

She rushed up the three steps to the deck.

"Help!" she heard a man call.

On the starboard side, she looked over the rail. A man attempted to reach the side of her boat. Near exhaustion and frozen by the cold Atlantic Ocean, he failed. "Help!"

Sheila, in a panic, threw him a rope. He grabbed it. She tied the other end to the rail.  He pulled himself on board.

"Are you, OK?" She asked. "How long have you been in the water? What happened?"

Samul stared at her bare legs, looked at the strange craft he boarded and wondered where he was. "I don't know."

After a pause, "Where am I?" he asked.

Sheila laughed nervously. "On my boat."

"I know, woman!" he replied with exasperation. "I've never seen a ship like this."  The unfamiliar materials - no wood or steel - confused him.

"It's not a ship. This is a sailboat." She looked at the man, his hair matted to his head by the salt water.

"Sailboat?" Samul looked around, confused.

"What's wrong with you?" She asked. "Haven't you seen a sailboat before?"

He stared at her, a blank look on his face, "Yes, but not like this. Where is the wood? What am I standing on?" Samul stomped his feet and looked down. "This is not wood!"

"It's fiberglass!"

There was a moment of silence. Samul raised his hands in exasperation. "Where the heck am I?"

Sheila laughed, "On my boat."

"I know that!"

"Well, if you know that, stop asking me!"

They stared at each other. Water dripped off Samul. The deck was soaked around him.

"What did you say your name was?" She finally asked.

"I didn't, but it's Samul."

"Mine's Sheila."

He took her out-stretched hand, "Glad to meet you, Sheila. Thanks for saving me."

"You're welcome. How did you end up in the water?"

"My ship was sunk by a U-boat. It was 1944"

"A U-boat? German U-boat?"

"What else is there? Yes, a German U-boat!"

Sheila stared at him in shock. "1944?"

He looked confused, "Yes."

'It's 2016 now."

"What?"

"It's 2016."

"No!"

"Yes! How did you survive in the water for more than seventy years?"

"What do you mean?"

"You said your ship sank in 1944."

"It did." He paused. Tears appeared in his eyes. "I regret signing up for the fight."

"You mean WW2?"

"Yes! I left Stella with six children."

"My grandmother's name was Stella."

"From Sambro, Nova Scotia?"

Sheila stared at the ghost from the past.

"Grandpa?"

Hi Sun
I would say voice recognition is a deal.  It is software that is available for anyone.

I use it as I cannot type as I used to, but people who have no hand problems use voice recognition.  Actually there is a lot of modified equipment available to help people with hand problems like RSI.

Amy

Good morning everyone..

Have laundry on the go and will hang it out..clear blue sky and a temp of 25°F this morning.

I have the dogs nails to do this weekend also along with the neighbour's dog. Then they are all good for another two weeks.

Need to go through my cupboards and do a purge..things that I don't use or want can go to SA.

Hope everyone is feeling better this today.

Joan, thank you for breakfast and the chilling story about Grandpa.
Lloyd, your rooster crowed early this morning :)

Jackie and Kelly, good morning, have a great day.

Take care everyone..

Amy, and you do too.....I have to laugh over doing the dogs nails.....Oh the fun...NOT....I had with my late Petra....she squirmed and wriggled all over the place, there was absolutely no chance those clippers were going anywhere near her, not a chance....So good luck on that one..... ;D
" There is no present like the time "

Amy

Jackie ,my one dog the Golden Retriever will come to me and lay down when she sees me putting on my glasses and have the nail clippers in my hand. Tis the Border Collie that is a little stinker, some times I can get away with clipping her nails and holding her foot like when you do a horses hoof....not always but some times. I did get some med for her from the vet and if it becomes a big fight then I can give her one of those and hope she doesn't put up too much of a fight. My Dalmatian had to be sedated to do his nails.
Oh the joys :)

Good morning Lloyd and Kelly.

Amy--Good morning.  You are braver than I am.  I was always afraid to cut dog's nails for fear I'd nip too far and they would bleed.  I threw out a bunch of stuff from my pantry last week that was past the "use by" date.

Good morning Vanilla-Jackie.  I see you had trouble with Petra's nails, too.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept pretty well.  We went to bed around 10:30 and Mickey decided to get up at 4:30.  We were about half way to the door so she could go out and Annie joined us.  They both REALLY HAD to go!  When that was over, we went back to bed and slept until 6:45.  And here I am.

We had the predicted rain (quit a storm) last night around 8:30 and it was still raining when we went to bed.  We started the day at 57º with a high of 63 predicted.  It will remain cloudy until around noon when "The Mysterious They" say the sun will peep out.

I hope you all have a lovely day filled with doing nothing if that's what you wish for.

Good morning!  It is still cloudy and we had some nice, much needed rain yesterday.  Everything is so green and fresh looking.

Jane, I am sure that you were very tired last night.  It takes a while to get back into the routine.

June, I hope you feel much better today.  I love bananas any day but when I have stomach trouble I double up on them, too.

Joan, you must have a very nice phone.  My telephone answering machine speaks out loud when someone leaves a message.  Otherwise, it just holds its tongue.   :P

Good morning (or afternoon) Amy, Kelly, Jackie, Lloyd, and all other "early birds".

Good Morning Everyone!
Jackie happy to hear you are feeling better.  Hope you continue to improve.

Janie, nothing like an early morning wake up.  But the pups have needs too.  At least you can get back to sleep.  Sometimes I just lay there.

Joanie, my wife has been on to me to get something done about our patio.  It has gotten pretty dirty.  I used to clean it every spring, but my son in law has my power washer.  I think I will just use a little bleach and clean it with that or try.

Lloyd you sure have been running around this morning.  Hope you didn't wear yourself out.  How's Nancy feeling?

Got to get all my stuff together and head down to the bank and have my stuff shredded.

Hope everyone has a good day.

hall she got up not feeling very good. so while she was taking her shower and getting dressed I made breakfast. I grated a medium sized Potato ,made hash browns ,took a good sized amt of hamburger and mad  hb. sake and fried eggs over easy (with out breaking the yolks) made toast. I think that fixed her she is acting ok now.

larryhanna

Hi everyone on an overcast day but sun is suppose to be on the way.  I have a few things I want to accomplish today like taking one of my New Guinea Impatiens back to Lowe's for a replacement or my money back.  It is looking very sickly and not doing well in comparison with the other two I purchased and have treated exactly the same way.  However, I will call before going there to be certain they do guarantee their plants.  We also want to go to the nursery nearby as they are suppose to get a new supply of herbs and other plants today.  I also hope to get all of the plants in the ground today as it shouldn't take very long.  After the housekeeper left yesterday Pat and I went to Ruby Tuesday's for the two for one salad bars and had a good lunch.  I did get my new laser printer installed in my office and now need to get it installed on Pat's laptop and the computer upstairs.  We did have a little rain yesterday afternoon but am going to have to turn on the sprinkler system for watering on Monday.

JeanneP, what harassment with those daily calls.  I usually don't answer a call that doesn't display who the caller is unless it is an Atlanta or Augusta or North Augusta exchange and not always then.  They can leave a message if it is important.  I set up a system with our son to call during church if there is an emergency.  I keep the phone on but silenced and told him to call, hang up, call again and hangup and call the third time.  I will leave the sanctuary and return his call immediately.

Callie, I handle sales or requests for money on the phone the same way.  It is nice for families to be close but they do need their own space. My family, except for Scott, are scattered all over the USA from New York to California so we are not close at all.

Kelly, it sounds like your call blocking system works.

Joan, I guess the "do not call" system works about as well as most everything the Government tries to run.  They can set up the lists but the enforcement is something else and there are exceptions in the law to allow political and charity type calls.

Hal, that 6 hour test sounds very unpleasant.  Sure hope they have a comfortable place for you to receive the IV.  It seems there is always a good meal at the Texas Roadhouse.

Sun, nice that you enjoy the Rangers baseball games so much.

Lloyd, do you see a red underlining of a misspelled word?  If so, right click on that word and see if it doesn't give you the right spelling or a choice of words at the top of the pop out screen.

Kelly, I have started to use Siri on my iPhone to do searches and other tasks for me with verbal commands.  Fortunately, I have no problems with my hands and love to type.

Kelly

Hi Larry
Good to hear Siri works well for you.  I use the microphone to compose posts on my Smartphone for S&F.

But voice recognition is far better than using the microphone on a Smartphone.

Kelly

Carol

Kelly and Larry:  Thanks for the interesting information on Siri.

Joan:  Your post message on forgiveness is so on spot.  Not forgiving is unhealthy.

We are having warmer daytime temperatures now but still able to sleep at night with all the windows open and not running A/C so far.  Birds do love to sing everyone awake and I didn't make it past 5 AM today - coffee is brewing in the new automatic.  We took a Keurig back because sometimes it would only drip 4 cups instead of the six or eight that was programmed.

JoanFL

Good morning, Phyllis.  We need rain so bad, and it seems to just go around us.  I do have a nice phone system--my son bought it for me.:)

halkel--Good morning.  We all have pavers for the driveway and walkway to the front door.  The sidewalk out in front is concrete.  Mildew is a problem.  The HOA "police" go around regularly, and if they see any mildew you have 30 days to rectify the problem.  I did get a letter 3 years ago.  There was a spot about 3' x 3' on the driveway.  Now I try to keep ahead of the "police".

Good morning, Larry.  Sounds to me like you are going to keep busy today.  Like I said yesterday, I did register for the "do not call list" but when I found it didn't work, I throw that issue in the "worry waste basket".  I have more important battles to worry about.

Carol--Good morning.  Glad you liked the forgiveness offering in today's "stuff".
