    Sotheby's Auction, London :
The bidding was proceeding furiously and strong when the Head Auctioneer suddenly announced, 'A gentleman in this room has lost a wallet containing ten thousand pounds. If returned, he will pay a reward of two thousand pounds.

There was a moment's silence in the auction house and from the back of the room came a shout, 'Two thousand five hundred.'

From a   Seniornet member of old

New to the group

If you were feeling low, with lots on your mind,
And getting through each day was an aweful grind.
So you join a group, then you wondered why,
Doubts are in your mind, and you feel so shy.
So you just read the mails for a little while,
Then some of them they make you smile.

You feel more comfortable day by day,
Then your first mail goes winging on its way.
Just  those few little words that will conspire,
To uplift your feelings just a little bit higher.
After a while what this may do,
Is make you realize the group has grown on you.

Though the night be dark and the days are long,
The stars now shine, and birds sing their song.
Flowers of friendship, see how they have grown,
Now you can reap what you have sown.
You could say that this is a fairy tale,
See what has sprung from that first little  mail.

Good morning everyone.

Another lovely morning here, geese were flying about and I listened to them for a while, then the loon flew over and said it was time to get up!!

Will label my jars and put them away today then take the van back in for repairs.I did start a cancer quilt so maybe I can work on that too later on today.

Bubble , thank you for the new start page. Had a good laugh at the auction joke!

Better get going here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, 63° another good night for sleeping and I did pretty good last night, a whole 6 hours of it. Still not enough for me, I am so used to at least 7 hours but mostly 8 hours of sleep it is hard getting used to less.

PHYLLIS  now you did it. Love seeing your posts but chocolate lava cake first thing in the morning will have me longing for a big slice of chocolate cake-any kind as long as it is chocolate. My fault for not posting in the evenings anymore. Right now we are getting some nice warm days with lower humidity. We had August weather in July and now feels more like July temperatures. Even Mother Nature is all messed up these days. That must have scare you when David passed out. I know if it happened to one of mine in front of me I would pull one of the emergency cords we have. I would be in a state of panic.

SHIRLEY  one morning before leaving for work I opened the freezer to take something out for supper and put a half gallon or ice cream on top while looking. When I god home from work I saw the wind steak down the side of the fridge wondering what that was. Was a sticky mess to clean up and did not feel much like making supper after cleaning that sticky yuck up. The melatonin I have is 6 mg. She talked to the pharmacist about it and he said if one doesn't help to take a second one. I am Leary of taking that second one.

JANE  my CNA said they had 3 mg and the 5 mg and the druggist suggested the 5. I had not called me doc about it. Maybe I should. The first one I took did nothing for me but I was dragging my feet the next day. If a sleeping pill can keep me awake all night and make my sluggish the next day maybe they just do not work for me.

JOY  always good too see you show up. Nothing interesting here in my life either.

BUBBLE  hope you enjoy the zucchini relish, it really is better than any you can buy. If jars seal right they will keep a long time.
Love your graphics and the way you framed them. If you remember I always loved the frames. At times I would get the frame made and then look for a graphic to do with it. New to the Group reminds me of when I first joined SN and Bis Busy Nest. I hardly said a few words, now I talk  too much about nothing. Thank you for the new page.

AMY  hope your trip with the van does not take too long.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for a bit and the doggies are all taken care of until they decide it's time for a walk.

GLORIA, how is that possible that my Melatonin is 500 mg. and yours is only 5mg?  That's a HUGE difference!  This one was suggested to me by a Nurse Practitioner.  I'm thoroughly confused!

I didn't get going early enough to get the zucchini bread in the Hidey Hole for breakfast snacking. But it's on my list for today.  Of course, that doesn't really mean that it will get done.  I can always say, "Oh What the heck!  I'll do it tomorrow!"

I'm off to get dressed ad collect the trash because going to the dumpster is on my list for today, too.

BUBBLE, please accept my thanks for the new place.  I always love your offerings in our behalf.

I hope you all have a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Another cloudy morning but supposedly the main part of the rain and storms will be to the East of us.  I have to do the grocery shopping so hope the weather will hold off for awhile.

It was nice to get out and get my hair cut yesterday.  So glad to get it off the back of my neck.

I'm really tempted by the Zucchini relish but, as I said before, I'm the only relish eater in the house so probably won't make it.  David likes my homemade Cucumber Pickles but he is not a relish eater.  However, I think the Lava Cake is going to be a regular thing.  Gloria and I agree that "anything that is chocolate" is something I am interested in.

Mary Ann, did you watch the Pictin Castle leave Algonac early this morning?  What a beautiful ship!  I enjoyed having it to watch on the close-up live camera for the last several days.  And, after doing a little reference searching, I learned it is a barque type of rigged sailing ship.  It's always fun to learn something new.

Good morning, Jane.

I must get my breakfast and get a move on.  I hope I can get the shopping done before the rain comes.  Take extra care, Everyone.

I'm here every day but this morning will cut it short. I am really tired & thinking nap... been up since before 5:00 am, got the pool vac done & yesterday got the entry hall cleaned out & put that stuff back in the RV. Time to rest, this is starting to feel like WORK and Joan isn't here to remind us that gets demerits!

Thank you, Bubble, for the new start. Beautiful graphics! Got to tell you I had a surprise when I enlarged that photo of Aviv in the canoe... and I thought was Illy... only that is NOT Illy, is it?  ::)  :-[  It is really Aviv (since his face is hidden?) Still think it is a great photo. On this laptop, it has the touch screen so I enlarged as much as it could...  ;)  How is Don liking his new digs now? Bet he knows everyone & they all know him. Tell him I waved "HI" from Kansas, please?

Thanks, Jane & Gloria, about the Melatonin.... I have a feeling she has already investigated it, her Dr suggested taking a Benadryl, she tried & works for her. I had such a bad reaction with a tiny speck of benadryl in an allergy prescription the pharmacist told me to never take anything with it in... ever! I don't have trouble sleeping, it's just getting to bed on time I have a problem with.

Amy, you are the going-est girl I ever knew.

Phyll, was wondering how many years has it been since you LIVED in Kansas?  It is humid this year, more like MO than KS. I am listening to hammering all around me, new roof on the house next door & down the street. Guess mine will come in 2 more weeks. Such a normal thing in KS.... Last time this area all got beat up was 2006. I was afraid of more hail this week & have not even been on a trip with the new roof on the RV. Still have to take a heavy duty vac out to clean some of the wood chips the guys putting the new roof on missed, in the shower. I had forgotten that nearly everyone I knew had flat tires from the nails in the streets (in 2006).. will have to watch.

Phyllis, yes, I watched the Picton Castle leave this morning, however, it was on rewind.  I had gotten up around 3 am to see if there was any preparation activity (actually got up for a different reason!) and watched for a while, did other computing and went back to bed.  I got up again at 8 am and the ship was gone, but I backtracked about three hours and watched until it left.  It is a good looking ship and I don't have many opportunities to see such a ship.  I read if a person were to be on all phases of their training, it would cost over $43,000.  I'll continue to be an armchair sailor.

Tom and I will pick up Dot for lunch today at a deli in Cannonsburg, about 10 miles from here.  It is a popular place but we'll go about 1 pm and it should not be too busy then.  Their sandwiches are whatever you want in them and are so large, I eat half of one and bring the other half home for another meal.  I know Dot will do the same.

Well, I didn't get the Pina Colada Bread in the Hide Hole in time for breakfast but it's there now. That recipe makes 3 big loaves.  There's no way I'll be able to eat it all.  HELP!  And it sure did make a lot of dirty dishes.  Of course, I shredded that HUGE zucchini that my neighbor gave me and I have enough in the freeze to make two more recipes.  So the next time I won't have the food processor to wash and put away.  I think I'll take a loaf of bread over to the gal who gave me the zucchini.  That'll teach her!

I took time out for lunch and doggie walking and now I have to gather the trash, take it to the dumpster and head for WM to get stuff like bread, milk and eggs.  Some other stuff, too.

Enjoy the rest of your day and HELP ME EAT THIS BREAD!

Today was rather a productive day, managed to get the van fixed (fingers crossed.) Plus I learnt that topping up the gas to the next dollar is not a good thing as well as undercoating the vehicle as this caused my problem!! Live and learn. :) I did get the flowered watered and deadheaded plus picked beans, enough to share with our neighbour. too.  Managed to finish off the camp quilt and can more on to another. So all in all a good day, have the sprinkler on the garden so had better go check plus this pup wants to play Frisbee!!
Jane ,thank you for the treat in the hidey hole, now I want to make it!
Phyliss, oh my I am going to try your lava cakes!! I/we love anything chocolate!!

Shirley, I think you are also one as you never stay in one spot long. Can't say as I blame you either ,go when you get a chance. Plus you have a lot of outside work to do.

Gloria, was in and out in no time plus it was lower than they quoted. Got to like that part!
Better go see if the veggies are still in the garden and not floating away.

Although dosage guidelines vary, here are some general things to keep in mind: The most effective dose is usually between 0.3 mg and 5 mg. THIS ON Melatonin

OK, so I'm some kind of an idiot.   I got out my magnifying glass and it says "500 mcg" on my melatonin bottle.  I'm not sure what that means.  I don't think I've ever seen "mcg" on a pill bottle before but the dr. must know because she okd it. I won't talk about medications or illnesses or remedies any more.

Now I'm off to bed and tomorrow is another day. I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.

The days are passing much too quickly for me.

My brother is still in the hospital.  They are giving him some physical therapy as he is having a hard time getting up and moving around with the pain in the incision.  Not sure of they will release him to go home tomorrow or not.

AMY, I do hope the van is repaired and Good to go for a good long time.

MARY ANN, I hope you all enjoyed the lunch out with Dot and Tom.

JANE, I just enjoyed a piece of the delicious Pina Colada Bread....it is yummy.  Thank you for sharing.

PHYLLIS, a hair cut always makes me feel so much better even though I fight it with tooth and nail to go and get it cut🤪. How frightening to have your David pass out in front of you.  Sure glad it was nothing too serious.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Jenny, prayers for your brother. Thinking of Michele and prayers for her.

Better get a move on here

Good morning everyone, foggy this morning, don't get that often here but lets me know the humidity is jumping up again. Oh well, it is still August.

JANE  I don't get it, a big jump from 5 mg to 500 mg. Of course my CNA got it at CVS and I distrust those stores. For a short time I got my meds there and I was short on at least one every month. The 5 mg is not doing much good for me. My son brought me half a zucchini bread he made and he added blueberries in it, different and very tasty. Since he retired he has done a lot of cooking and now he is baking. Love it, my other son is a cook but never did baking.

PHYLLIS  like you when the hair starts hitting my neck I have to get a haircut. Especially  in the summer months. Hope you got your groceries and home before any rain drops fell on you.

SHIRLEY  glad I don't live where it is as windy or gets so much damaging hail. When we get hail it is always small and not much of it.

AMY  what is the problem with having a full gas tank  and undercoating a car? Doesn't the undercoating help keep the salt from the roads in winter from rotting from underneath? That is what I was told years ago but don't hear much about undercoating cars anymore.

JANE  you talk about meds all you want, I got to thinking CVS was not putting every thing in what they sell that they should.

JENNY  hope things improve fro your brother. How is Michele doing? Hope the doctors got rid of the monster by now.

Have a good day.

Good Morning,

Not sure if I've "checked in" on the new page.  I'm not actively involved in a lot of the events going on around me but, of course, I have to keep up (or so I think  ;)}.

Miss Ellen was home for a week - mainly to be in a BFF's wedding but also to visit with relatives from the other side of the family who were making their annual visit.
She dropped in between two wedding events that were closer to me than to her parents' house and made a special trip to visit another day.

Have been keeping up with Miss Emily via text because she's heading into Finals for this trimester and also getting a new apartment-mate.  Bit of a gap between the former one leaving and the new one arriving, so Mom has gone to be with her during the interim.

Haven't seen Sir Carson but know he "survived" his construction management intern assignment out in the OK panhandle (about a 4 hour drive across wide open prairie country).  He called to chat while driving home for the weekend and had nothing good to say about the distance between "snack/potty stops" along the way.  He is back at school and has moved into a house with two roomies for the next phase of his college studies.

#2 son/dil spent a few days in Denver for a "Blues" concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater.  They drove to the top of Mt. Evans one day.  Mt. Evans is a "fourteener", meaning it's more than 14,000 feet above sea level.
Pix are fantastic and include several of wild animals along the roadside.

Dil finally got Netflix working on my t.v. and I've enjoyed being able to watch movies that way instead of on my Tablet.  Have also finished several library e-books.

I'm back at war with a skinny squirrel, who discovered he/she can leap from a planter onto the squirrel baffle and grab hold of the feeder in time to keep from being knocked off.  :tickedoff:  Planter is too heavy for me to move so I've "greased"  the baffle and the pole above it with petroleum jelly and hope I'm watching when he/she slides and goes Kerplunk.  :nahna:

Gloria,  so sorry you've had a bad experience with CVS.  Mine is very helpful with my meds.  Refills are taken care of automatically and they even call the doctor for permission without my having to ask.  I really like their automated notice when a prescription is ready for pick-up, too.

Jenny, you have a lot on your plate between helping with Grands and concern about relatives' health issues.  Gentle hugs and Good Thoughts to you.

Amy/Jane and Other Relish Enthusiasts:  I found Amy's recipe for the Zucchini Relish in the Recipes folder.  Gave all my canning equipment to dil years ago but will share the recipe with her when she returns from Kansas.  Sounds like something she would like - in addition to the jellies and salsas she cans all summer long.

Pantry is beginning to look like Mother Hubbard's Cupboard.  Guess I need to do something about that.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Callie, you can do half the recipe and you don't need to put it in a canner as long as your jars ,lids and sealing rings are hot.

OK where is Miss Jane......she is MIA!!

Mycheal & all that offered information about the melatonin, I did pass it along to my daughter who explained she had already tried & it didn't work for her. Now that she is retired I don't think she has a problem, she works as hard at being retired as she did working. She walks the parks in St.Louis area where she lives & gets in between 10,000 & 20,000 steps a day (and that is NOT an exaggeration.) Both of her brothers decided not to compete with her... and I don't get a fraction of those steps. I tell them that I wear a Fitbit to know how much sleep I get (or don't).

I did get some spaghetti put in the freezer for a couple meals out camping. Got to defrost that freezer, it is beyond needing care, hate that job. I'm sure I'll find stuff in there way out of date so the critters down by the river will have some good meals.

The wind is blowing like it could brew up some storms tonight. Not quite up to anything else going wrong this week. It has been a roller coaster few weeks. With all that has gone wrong, in every case "it could have been worse!"

Don't supposed Lloyd & Nancy have already gotten to Jane's house? Wishing all sweet dreams and God Bless.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for August 15, 2019
Post by: CallieOK on August 16, 2019, 09:38:24 PM
Amy, it isn't the canning itself....it's the peeling and chopping and mixing and sterilizing and..and..and... Much easier to let dil do it and share!!  ;D

Shirley, the news picture of a tornado around Salina was horrible.  Miss Em's Mom drove to K.C. yesterday and I was afraid she would run into it; thank goodness, she didn't.  Em said if there were any storms around her....she slept through them.
Weather gurus keep saying we "may" get storms but none have come down this far....yet.  The ones we have had recently have been in the wee hours and didn't bother me.

Two hummingbirds fussed at me when I took down the feeder this evening. Thought maybe they'd apologize when I put it back all clean and full of freshly made syrup.  Nope - they just started their usual chase-each-other-off routine.
I enjoyed watching a mama cardinal and her "teen-age daughter" at the seed feeder.  Youngster was doing well getting her own seeds but she didn't mind a bit when Mama gave her one.

I love watching my critters!

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Good morning everyone..

Foggy out there this morning. We are off to a wee hamlet to the market for a garlic festival, should be a lot of fun! My friend is a regular there with her quilts and he is woodwork.

Shirley, that is a job I am procrastination on and will soon have to bit the bullet and just do it!! I am sure crow will be getting some freezer burnt meat. Gosh crow must have read my thoughts he is out there hollering now.....and he brought company!!

Callie, I understand , smart lady! I wish we had cardinals here, I have only seen one and the was a long time ago in out lilac bush. Hope the storms don't visit your way.

Phyliss, I made your rice pudding in the IP yesterday and it turn out great...

Better get going here, want to start laundry and hang it out before we go.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, at last it is, had a whole 7 hours uninterrupted sleep. Makes me feel alive this morning. Maybe tonight I will get 8 hours? Maybe the melatonin is starting to get into my system? The half hour before bed time did not work so last night I took one at 7:30 and was asleep a little after 10.
67° now and humidity climbing once again. Looks like we will be back up to 90 on Monday if the guessers are right. Well it is August and that has always been the hot month here but so far it was July with the heat waves.

CALLIE  your squirrel sounds like the one that tried to jump up  to the flower box I used as a bird feeder. Kept trying and would fall back onto the awning over the downstairs window. Finally made it and I would knock on the window and it would run. After it would get back up and keep an eye looking in the window. When it saw me coming it jumped down. The CVS here is the second one I had problems with. The first one was where I lived before. I always loved watching the Cardinals when they were at my feeder. They were more entertaining than any of the others for they way they cared for each other.

AMY  do not see many birds here. When I first moved here the maintenance man's wife hung a hummingbird feeder off the porch and we all loved watching them. Witch made her stop because she said they messed all over. Then she also cleaned out the bird bath in front of the other  side of the porch, witch stopped that, too, made a mess. Now the bird bath is dry and no more birds to see. Any time the residents here enjoy something she puts a stop to it. The chairs on the porch were arranged for carrying on conversations, now she wants them all in a row like pictures you see of resorts. Makes it hard to talk with each other.

JANE  where are you? Are we going to send out a search party for you?

Have a good day.

A good Saturday morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND💐

My greeting is about the only positive thing I have to say today......

Sadly, I got a bit of news from Dr. Dave yesterday and unfortunately Michele does have more tumors growing on her brain.  We are of course all devastated to hear this news.  She was not to find out the report from the MRI until next Monday at her chemo appointment, however she and Dave went to her radiation oncologist yesterday to discuss the radiation she will start two weeks after her last chemo, and this doctor already had the report. Michele was quite upset.....she was so hopeful that this MRI would be clean!  They will not find out the total report until Monday at her second to last chemo, so Dave said he had no details to add.  Thank you all for all of your support and prayers.

Today is Matthew's Birthday Party at Dave and Michele's home.  His bday is the 22nd but he has his first football game that night, Michele will be down and out after chemo on Monday, so this is the best day.  Life goes on.....

BUBBLE, thank you for your beautiful graphic......so pretty.

JANE, wishes for a HAPPY day for you💞

ACTUALLY HAPPY WISHES for. Wonderful day to EVERYFRIEND

Jenny

Today has been an interesting day for sure. We did go to the Garlic festival where you can buy 20 or more varieties of garlic..and even garlic butter tarts but that didn't sound all that tasty to me. Met friends we hadn't seen in a while and had a good chat with them then came home.
No hanging laundry out as it rained but that is ok, we do need the rain!
Neighbour came over and said the next door neighbour to him had a bear in his yard and our neighbour had a cougar!! Now we have to be careful letting the dogs out at night.

My engine light came back on so into the shop we go on Monday.

Jenny, not news one wants to hear for sure Michele is a fighter and will get through this plus she has a remarkable family backing her!! Tell her to get all the rest she can.
Happy birthday to Matthew and good luck on the game!!

Jesse is bugging me to play Frisbee, so I had better go tire him out :)

Everything I planned to say went out of my head with your report about Michele, Jenn.... I am so sorry. I could not be any sadder, disappointed, heart sick. I can only imagine how each of you feel, not just for Michele but for the kids, for a husband that knows what each set back means.. for all of you with your breaking hearts watching those kids live this nightmare. Prayers continue, if there was any way to share your heartbreak, I would offer, hugs are sent your way.

Amy, our wildlife is not as big or vicious as yours, but a constant worry with the cats being out all night during the summer months. Not sure if my imagination, but one night I forgot to close the gate to the pool area (still have a fence with padlocks around the whole back yard "regulation" size for pools... but the cats looked accusingly at me because any of the smaller critters (like fox & coyote) could come on into their hide out. Fox & coyote bone structure is small enough to hop through the 5" width of wrought iron fence, but the pool fence is maybe 2" width up to about the first couple feet off the ground, designed to keep raccoons & other critters out. The cats feel safe but know if any of the climbing types want in, they can get in. Callie climbs the fence like a ladder & doesn't use her claws to climb the posts.

Bubble, I didn't get many photos today, the sun came out & all activities were in the back yard, they have a "yard size" water inflatable with slide, etc.. that they put up for the summer parties. The parents all stick around while the kids play & this old lady finally excused herself, ran errands & came on home. It is HOT & humid. If I get them off the camera I may send to you if any are good enough to post. Bright sun & most were aimed into the sun (because I was too lazy to go down into the yard & walk around to the other side). They have a 2nd floor deck that overlooks the back yard. Hey, that was a pretty bouquet you posted....thank you! I need to get to bed tonight, Sunday morning comes early, up & dress, feed cats & me & leave the house by 7:00 am. I've had my shower & ready for bed, so will leave the camera until tomorrow. Thanks for the offer.

Good morning everyone, 70 to start the day and already the humidity is up.  What we expect for this month.

BUBBLE  love your good morning, a cheerful way to start the day.

JENNY  such sad news about Michele. She has been so brave through all this fight. She is in my prayers with all the family.

AMY  seems one would have to love a lot of garlic to enjoy one of those tarts.

SHIRLEY  I take terrible pictures. I have a tendency to move the camera when I click the shutter button/lever.

JANE  hope today is even better than yesterday for you.

Have a good day

Good morning everyone..

Looks like more rain if the forecast which we need. A day of rest, sort of as I have a batch of pickles to finish off and the garbage needs to be taken away. A friend is bringing more zucchini for me, said he doesn't sell them but adopts them out. So a jar of relish will go his way.
I want to make Jane's zucchini cake and will give him one of those also.

Gloria,I really don't like the humidity we are experiencing..no fun at all!! I love butter tarts  and garlic but separate!

Jane, may today be the start of a great week for you. Any word from the traveling two Lloyd and Nancy?

Shirley ,my thought is that this is the wild life  home, and we should mind our manners in their home. Now should there be a problem then steps will be taken.

Better get a boogie on..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning.  I've pretty much just been hibernating because it is still so hot and the humidity has been very high.  Because of that, I've not done much of anything including no cooking.  I've been doing a lot of reading but even get tired of that after awhile.

Jenny, I wish the news about Michelle was better.  I'm so sorry for your family and having to live through these very difficult times.  But, don't lose hope.  Prayers for all of you.

The days are getting shorter.  Surely, that means fall is getting closer.  Our schools start this week...it seems early to me.

Take care, All.

So sad to read Jenny's  message.  I can just imagine what the family is going through.  But, keeping the family in my thoughts.

I am just making my place.  Too early for anything to report.

Hope everyone will have a good Sunday.

Good Morning (so far)l  I've been to church, the Farmers Market and made a stop at WM.  I have laundry in that should have been in yesterday.  Just didn't feel like doing it yesterday.

I don't think the "travelers" are traveling yet.  They had a complication with the RV and I'm pretty sure LLOYD said they would not be leaving until Sunday (today) or Monday! He has his email set up in the RV and he didn't have the RV.  He called me.

I've become the dumping ground for my daughter's paper to be shredded.  She ordered a shredder from Amazon and had it sent to me because she knows I've been looking at them but putting off buying.  She did warn me that she was doing this and asked if it was OK.  I think it's just her way of buying me something I want.

The dryer stopped.  Time to get stuff out of there and finish making the bed and put more stuff in the washer.  Also time for lunch.  The doggies told me so.

AMY, how do you watch out for bears and cougars when you take your dogs out at night?  Do you carry a shotgun or a rifle? Or do you take along a guard?  Do the Northwest Mounties cover a situation like this or must you find your own guard?  I think I might be glad there are only squirrels, skunks, possums and groundhogs around here! ;D  :2funny:

I'm off!

for the discussion on Melatonin, the "mcg" designation is micrograms, not milligrams and as such, mcg is much smaller dose if it even comes that way. some supplements are in mcg; some in mg.  My biotin comes in micrograms. ps: my melatonin doesnt help me sleep either.

Good morning everyone, did something I have not done in a long time. I woke early and went back to bed and fell asleep for 3 more hours. Had a thunderstorm last evening. Nothing on the weather about any so it was a surprise. I was on Skype with my daughter and said a fast goodbye and closed the computer down. T V was already off. I will not have either on in a storm, had a TV get hit years ago because the EX would not shut it off.

Now I think I will go have breakfast and shower before CNA gets here.

Dropped into the garage and they will look at the vehicle tomorrow ,picked up a few things at the grocer store and the engine light went out. Stopped back in and told him and will still take it tomorrow.

Gloria, you must have needed the sleep or you wouldn't have slept.

well we bought a brand new Trailer to haul the van on behind the R V. got Bob to come over and fix the wiring so have no over loaded crickets to throw the barkers. they had both overhead A C compressors on same cricket. Now it cools it off good. so we are ready to load the R V tomorrow. and Bob is cumming back tomorrow and put the other half of the new trailer plug on so we should be ready to hit the road.

Amy, my check engine light was on when I drove out of the dealership last time they changed oil, but I was too tired to turn around & go back. I didn't know that was what it was because the salesman had a look at it to see what they'd offer to trade (I was not even seriously considering trading). He made the comment that "we have one that has everything yours does except for the parking assist"... since I didn't know it had parking assist, that wasn't a problem, I just am not ready to get rid of it, has less than 25,000 miles on it, soon be 6 years. It only gets town driving. Anyway, my son explained to me that was the check engine light (not a parking assist light) he has all the tools from when he worked in a garage during college. He checked, said "it's running lean" the code... turned the light off but it came back on. Off & on the next. Last week when I went across town to have the window put in I stopped at the dealership to see what it needed. The guy that checked said he couldn't tell... so I told him what my son said. He said his meter wouldn't turn it off so maybe I'd need to bring it in for a full analysis. Light was still on, but when I stopped for a bite to eat right after & turned it back on... light stayed off & has been off ever since. I know it can come on if the gas cap isn't sealed good, but since the "code" didn't show anything serious, maybe just not as good gas?  Hope yours is a happy ending as well.

Gloria, I finally got 8 hours & 45 min sleep last night with 2 naps today. Been running on 3-5 hours for over a week so needed those zzzzzzzzzs. Got a full tummy right now & ready to go to bed as soon as I clean up the kitchen & feed cats their midnight snack.

Made another big pot of taco soup, cleaned up all I put in the freezer for camping so had to make more. This is especially good & don't feel guilty about not eating veggies, has several kinds of beans, corn, stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce & V8, of course onion & garlic & lots of scrambled & drained hamburger, can of beef broth, plus a package of taco seasoning. Waiting for it to cool to put in the frig.

Lloyd, hope all goes well with pulling your van. I would like to have a car with me but too chicken to pull... I know I'd never be able to back it up if in a pinch, I can back that RV right to the post to connect with electricity but know I'd have to unhitch a car if caught in a traffic jam. Good luck with yours.

Good night & sweet dreams to all. I got out today but that heat index was 110 & this old lady melted. Made several stops & will get out in the morning to do the rest.

Posting late.....I thought maybe I would have a chance to speak to Dave tonight after the children were asleep, but he did not call.

I was not able to talk to Dave tonight at dinner regarding details as the children were with us.  He called me  just after he talked to Michele, and she had spoken to the oncologist.  He said Michele was in good spirits and said she was told everything was pretty much as they thought it is, but there were a couple of details he would discuss with me later.

I did talk to Michele a little bit.  She said the chemo is suppose to be helping to fight the cancer in her head, however it does not work well due to the veins being so small.  She will have another gamma knife procedure done ASAP.  She hopes before her next chemo in two weeks. She continues to be strong and determined to beat this nasty cancer.

I thank you all again for your continued prayers and support and I will post more when I get a chance to speak to Dave.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND

Good morning everyone. Beautiful morning here with a temp of 44°F. GREAT sleeping weather for sure. Have a few errands to run before taking the van in. I did get the relish and loaves done yesterday so have to label and put away the jars. Kyle got his licence back Dr sent the forms in and now we have to see the insurance fellow.

Shirley, he did mention a gas cap leak and I said that the van would say that but he said it is such a small leak it may not??? We shall see today.

Jane, enjoy your day and time with your friend.
Jenny, hugs to you. Michele is a fighter and will come through this....prayers heading your way for all.

Good morning!  I'm still here and functioning reasonably well.  I don't do well in this heat and humidity but since I can't do anything about it (that is 'way above my pay grade ;) ) I just set my mind to get through it.  I had to go out yesterday and across town to return some cable TV equipment and I thought the car AC would never cool it down.  I finally "cut the cord" and so far/so good.  And, it wasn't as bad an experience dealing with Spectrum cable as I thought it was going to be.  Now we are on indoor antenna and get all the local stations plus I have some streaming channels that I subscribe to as well as a whole bunch of free channels on Roku.  It is more than enough to entertain and inform me when I get tired, or bleary-eyed, from reading.

I haven't cooked for the last couple of days....just re-heated some things...but, today I must use up some apples I bought and make some applesauce.  The IP won't generate much heat, thank goodness.

Jenn, Michelle is such a strong young woman. I think of her and all your family so often and pray that things will take a turn for the better soon.

Lloyd, safe travels for you and Nancy.

Amy, 44 degrees sounds like heaven to me.  Our low temp. last night never got below 70 and humidity was even higher.  The AC and my bedroom ceiling fan made it cool enough that I slept pretty well.

Make it a good day, everyone.

Good afternoon.  I tried from around 6 this morning to get in-yep another sleepless night. I restarted the PC a few times and didn't work. I got desperate and finally emailed BUBBLE and I have no idea what she did but finally got in. Hooray, I would be lost without our cyber "family".

AMY  I think I start looking forward to the September crisp cool days on the first too warm spring day. Last 2 days have been terrible wit h the humidity, At the time my daughter and I would be on Skype we have had thunder storms and I shut the PC and TV off. Would hate to replace both and hate to think of what would be lost from the PC. Most of what I really want is on the external drive and don't know if it would be OK if the PC got struck. Did lose power for a short time.  Very windy and some pea size hail.

SHIRLEY  my son calls those lights that keep coming on and no mechanic as ever found out why-Idiot Lights. I will tell you how much sleep I did get this morning after 6:am. Maybe 3 hours. Was awake all night. Been a bad week for me.

JENNY  Good thing that Michele has such a positive outlook. That helps her. She is in my prayers every day.

LLOYD  have a wonderful trip. Drive safely with that big RV and pulling the van.

Have to go, CNA is here and time to get her busy.

Have a good day.

Jenny:  Thinking of you and your family.

Phyllis: We rarely have humidity here - things get crackling dry.

Gloria:I hope you can get back into a longer sleep habit soon. One sleeping pill is enough for me to get at least six hours plus a light doze sometimes.

I have made it one week from the neck surgery.  Two more to go - Don is doing great at changing the bandage.  It is at least a six-step ordeal and I can't do it looking at the mirror.  Just wondering why I have times of exhausting during the day.

We saw a story on the news of a trashed kitchen - a bear got in the house.  Bears are always hungry and get mad when they can't get the food fast enough.  Hungry as a bear - do you remember that  saying?

Keep cool all!

Jenny:  You are in our thoughts daily.

Just getting in here.

I was busy this morning.  I had to go down to the office to sign papers  to renew my lease.  It isn't up until November, but they like to get all the paperwork done early.  So many of the people here do not like the manager, but I find her to be a very pleasant person.  She has always been fine with me.  We had a nice talk about cooking and se was telling me about some of the vegetables she fixes.  I really don't have too much contact with her, except to pay my rent, and see her in the hallways at times.  I know some people here can always find something to complain about.

When I got back upstairs it was lunchtime, so I had a tomato and cheese sandwich. The tomatoes have been so good.

Then I had a nap.

I need to start thinking about what I can have for dinner. It is still very hot outside, so, nobody is sitting outside now. I might go down a little later when it cools off. The trees outside of my window are blowing a little bit.

I, too, am thinking about Jenny and Michelle and her family.  So hard on the whole family, but she is a strong lady and staying positive is good.

I hope Lloyd and Nancy got off on their trip.  When we had our motorhome, we did tow our car behind,  Can be a little scary at times.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Another day is on its way out. Managed to get some ironing  done and another row sewn on the quilt, one more row and I can put the border on it.

Will take my van in next Mon with hopes that this is the last time.

Shirley I forgot to mention we do that in one year with all the Dr visits in the city.

Carol, hope your recovery is fast with no problems.

Gloria, I wondered where you were this morning, thought maybe you were lucky enough to sleep in.

Phyliss, I don't like the heat and humidity either, I am so looking forward to Fall.

Joy, I know some people that no matter what you do, there is no way of pleasing them. Can't imagine going through life like that. Our tomatoes are still green but one of these days we will have a sun warmed tomato sandwich.

Pup is calling......frisbee time..

Good morning everyone. Finally talked with my daughter on Skype yesterday, no thunderstorms.

CAROL  I can take a sleeping pill and be awake all night and be groggy all the next day. I have had a sleepless night at times but never as bad or long as it has been this week. Most times I get 7 or 8 hours at night. No sleeping during the day either. Glad Don is doing good with the bandage on your neck. Hope you have a speedy recovery from the surgery.

JOY  I haven't heard anyone here have anything nice to say about our manager. I was talking with one of the men painting the building last week and he asked me how I liked her. I just looked at him and said no comment. He told me he went through school with her. Her father kept her in line but after he died she started showing her true color and made  an enemy of everyone. I have been enjoying my tomato and lettuce sandwiches since our local tomatoes ripened. One son brought me some cherry tomatoes from his garden and every time I go into the kitchen I pick a few of them to enjoy.

AMY yesterday I had trouble signing in. Ready to scream so emailed Bubble and she helped me. Don't know why it did not like my password all of a sudden. Like you I will be so happy when the fall weather gets here. Never did like summer  heat and humidity.

Gosh no Jane or Jenny last night, hope both are OK. Wonder if Lloyd got off on his trip and is having no problem towing the van.

Have a good day.

We had thunderstorms during the night, poor Babe was shaking like a leaf.
Not sure what is on the agenda today, I know I have things that need done. Isn't there always something to do around the house. No picking beans till the plants dry off though.

This will be short because I have to be at work at 9.  AMY, I didn't see a report on the Pina Colada Zucchini Bread.  Did I miss it?  I gave some to my friend yesterday and I'm waiting for a report.  The gal across the street LOVED it!

No one has posted since AMY did this morning!  I came home from work beat right down to my sox and all I wanted to do was take a nap.  Thank goodness the couch was loaded with zzzzs so I grabbed a few and now the dogs are telling me it's time for their supper and I better get with the program or they'll throw me out on my ear and get someone who will feed them on time.

I headed to bed, T-storm going through with street flooding, trees down & power out... but not at my house.  Cats were all out & they never come in until storms are over... and come in dry, where ever they hide.  Tiger just showed up, they have not had their "midnight snack" (the canned Friskies). Think the worst of the storm is over, I am SO sleepy. Got 12 quart size bags of meat ground up & one tub mixed up of the spread. Yum, I'll put some in the hidey hold so you can taste. I happened to have Kraft mayo instead of Miracle Whip today, but put in the celery, onions, hard boiled eggs, pickle relish & that red onion was especially tasty so I had a couple slices of bread with the spread & seriously considering going back for more while Tiger has her snack!

Hope everyone is tucked in for the night, sweet dreams. And where ever you are, Nancy & Lloyd, hope everything is going well. I'll turn out the lights now.  Love y'all.........Shirley

Wednesday night and I am just getting in to post.  We have been quite busy with the kiddos and Michele.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES, 💐 CAROL 💐
I do hope you enjoyed a nice day.  Best wishes for a happy and healthy year to come💞. I hope you are feeling better and your neck area is not too uncomfortable for you🥰

We had quite the storm tonight.....lots of thunder, lightening and HAIL😩🤬🤬. It did a pretty good amount of damage to my plants😩

Michele is trying to get the next gamma knife procedure scheduled for next week, but the oncologist that does this is on vacation this week so it may not happen.  She is just so wanting to get this brain cancer taken care of ASAP.  AS ALWAYS, I thank you all so very much for your continued support and prayers🦋

I have not commented about my Dad recently, but he seems to be doing well and back doing about everything he was doing before the last medical scare.  I talk to him every day.

My brother is getting stronger each day and sounds good.  Nice to see some things coming back to normal!

LLOYD, anxious to read that you and Nancy are "on the road again"!

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND!

Thank you, Bubble for posting for me and for directing my friends in here where to look.  She's just growing up way too fast!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I have a meeting here at 10 this morning and things to get ready for it so I'll make this short and I'll try to get back later.  This morning the doggies didn't even wait for the "crack of dawn" to get up.  They're still on DST and haven't adjusted to the fact that it gets light later and later in the morning.  Oh well!  There will be time for a nap later this afternoon after the errands.

JENNY, I'm so happy that "some" of your news is good news and I pray that Michele has some part in the "good" stuff, too.  They are all so lucky to have you!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in evey way!

Good morning everyone...

Short night. I never sleep well when I know I have an appointment early in the am.  Then later today take Kyle to the Dr about an hours drive from here.

Shirley, I remember when my Mom would make that spread and it is so delicious! Amazing how the cats can find a dry place when it is raining.

Jenny, I do hope Michele can have the procedure soon . Happy to read your Dad and brother are doing well.

Jane, oh my  how time flies. Emma is such a beauty..I am sitting here comparing your photo with hers and now I know what you looked like at that age!

Carol, Happy birthday to you. May you be blessed with many more!

Better get a move on here.

Up too early so had breakfast & going back to bed. Not quite 3 hours sleep but will make up for it, I hope!  Heaven help if a "robo call" wakes me up, I'll bite the end off the phone!

Jane, she is so cute, love that expression, "I'll handle it"...  She doesn't look like she is afraid of that first day away.

Jenn, I have a "wave of sadness" with all your family is facing right now, but know the joy of your loving family keeps you going. Hugs & prayers.

Amy, do your fur babies keep you awake during storms? I know I shouldn't let them wake me up but even if they are outside, I can "feel" when they are looking in the sliding door to see if I'm going to wake up & let them in. I think I get better sleep during the winter months, they are more willing to stay inside all night. Like you, I sleep with one eye open when I know I have to get up early. Busy day ahead but doesn't start too early so heading back to bed.

Can't say Good Morning any longer.  I was in here very early, and then like Shirley,  I took a nap.

Jane, I can't believe that Emma has gotten so big.  Seems like she is still a little baby.  She is so cute. Is that a day care place where she is going to?

I probably won't get in here tomorrow until late in the day.  I have to go out very early to have some tests done.  My son will drop me off on his way to work and I will call my DIL to come get me when I am finished.

Today is supposed to be the last day of our very hot temperatures.  From tomorrow on for several days, it will only be in the upper 70's and low 80's,  A big relief, although I have not  had to be out in the heat.  But, I still like the hot weather. I am, for one,  very sad to even think about the cold days coming soon. Just hate being cold, but nothing I can do about it. WIsh I could spend my winters in a nice warm area.  Years ago, my husband and I were campers, and we spent the winters in Florida.  Really miss those days.

I hope you all have a great afternoon.

Joy

Think my  running for the day is over. We have to go into town tomorrow to take a script in and that is it.....so far.

Shirley, Babe is more sensitive to the storms than the pup. Babe vibrates  in  a storm and all one can do is hug her and tell her she is going to be ok. Going to be an early night for bed tonight.

Joy, hope all your tests turn out the way you want them. I would love a nap now but then I won't sleep tonight.  We saw trees that the  leaves  had already started to turn colour. While I was picking the beans earlier a flock of geese circled about...longer and longer flights getting ready for the long trip. A murder of crows were gathered by the roadside when we were on our way home. They too are gathering.

My physical therapy was early so I decided (not) to wake at 4:15 AM.  Feeling good after the therapy - only one more appointment and that will be over.

Jenny:  It looks like the daily storm will pass us - we need a break.  You have a lot going on in family issues - I hope Michele gets her treatment soon.

Good morning everyone. Don't know what I did yesterday morning. I was typing on the Notepad and must have hit something and the page I was reading shrunk to about 3 inches wide. I am not a touch typist, I have to look at the keys or have a mess of nonsense. Every other sight was normal but not S&F. I even emailed Bubble to ask if something was wrong with the site, no every thing normal.  I was ready to send my grandson guru an SOS. When my CNA was here I told her about it and showed it to her. She said that happened to her once and it was the zoom size that messed up. So went to that and sure enough it was down to 25 instead of the 125 I use all the time. Fixed that and by then I was so disgusted with this lemon I just quit for the day. I must have hit some keys that were a shortcut for size, who knows!
We had a power outage in the afternoon and got it back in time to talk with my daughter on Skype. It was out during the night sometime because I had to set the time on the microwave again this morning, that is getting to be a daily happening lately. It is raining now but not a thunderstorm.

JENNY  glad your Dad is doing good and your brother, too. Like Michele if I had to have any procedure done I want it done NOW, not have to wait.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link.

JANE  wow hard to believe your little Emma is old enough to go to pre school already. They grow too fast these days.

JOY  we are opposites, I like the cold months, I feel I can always add another layer to keep warm. We are in for a week end of temperatures in the 70's and I will enjoy that so much especially with lower humidity.

AMY  it will not be long before we start seeing a tinge of color on the maple trees in the front. They are always the first to start showing color. With the days getting shorter faster it seems nights will be long.

CAROL  Happy Belated Birthday.

SHIRLEY  are all those little ones your grands or great grands? Sure a bunch of them All seem about the same age, busy family. I have only seen one double rainbow, at my in laws place in Maine after a thunderstorm. Beautiful and bright.

Hope we hear from Lloyd soon.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be short because I have to get ready for work pretty soon.

GLORIA, we're going to have the same types of temps that you're expecting this week.  I'm really looking forward to it.  Like you, I prefer the colder weather.  I've always said, "If it's hot, there's only so much you can take off but if it's cold, you can always add something more".

I better get a move on!  The doggies will want a walk before I go to work.  We try to do that before and after the heat of the day!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning everyone, just had the best night in a couple of weeks, even had to shut the fan off in the window, got too chilly. Now doesn't that  sound good for a change? Sun is shining and the sky a bright beautiful blue.

JANE  like you I say the same about clothes, even in birthday suits we could not get cool, give me winter over summer any time.

AMY  I don't like asking my grandson for help when I mess up the PC, know he works on them all day solving problems but he will help me,when he gets the time.

Where is everyone? No posts since Amy yesterday at 11:51 am. Feel like I am talking to myself.

Come out come out where ever you are!

Good morning.

Yes, Gloria, what a change in our temperatures this morning.  Does feel good  to turn off the A/C for a few days.  Our 80 degrees are supposed to return by the end of the week.  I know you like  the colder weather, but I am not quite ready for summer to end.  I just hate to think of the cold weather that is on the way.   I don't like feeling cold.

Yes, it has been pretty slow lately.  Mary Ann, over on Norm;s page, has mentioned several times about how slow several of the message boards have gotten.  But, when you think about it, we have lost several of our favorite posters over the past few years.  And, I guess maybe these kind of sites are getting fewer and fewer.

Facebook has taken over so much of the whole population  these days. I do follow FB, but usually just to keep up with my grandchildren.  And, there are lots of times, they take their good old time getting back to me.  Communication among  a lot of people now seems to be a thing of the past.  So sad when a lot of people have their heads buried in their phones or tablets.

When I was at my appointments yesterday, every aged person seemed to be looking at their phones or tablets.  I was included in that group also. So, it isn't all just the younger ones. I knew I was going to have a long wait, so that was one of the times that I did remember to take my Kindle with me.

All my appointments went well yesterday, and now just have to wait for the results,  which is hard to do.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Joy

Hello, Everyfriend!  This morning started off with a jolt!  I slept very well and when Annie decided it was time to get up she just jumped off the bed.  I heard it and that's what got me up.

I took them out, gave theim their pill and we waited for the boinger and breakfast.  Then I had some things to do that got left yesterday.  I don't know where today has gone.  I made a trip to Cathy's this morning and then around by WM on the way home.  I've decided that it's time for good old fashioned Meat Loaf and Scalloped potatoes for supper today and I needed to pick up some hamburger.  While I was at the store, I grabbed some bread and milk, too.

I came home, and made lunch (felt like a grilled cheese sandwich so that's what I had), took the doggies for a walk and checked some things on the computer.  Sounds boring but that's life!  At least I'm still here to enjoy life!

Cathy brought her box of papers to be shredded in "our" new shredder and I got half of them done last night while I watched TV.  I'll probably do the rest this evening while I watch TV.  I wonder how long she's been saving them up.  I told her to bring them by once a month from now on and to get rid of the HUGE tub she's been putting them in.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good (or Super) Sunday to every Friend!!!  It rained all night, thunder & lightning so cats were all inside. Callie prefers HER garage, eats her meals in the kitchen with Tom & Tiger & runs to the garage door when the other two go to the pool door. I don't know where she hides out but comes out when SHE decides to & I never see what little hidey hole she comes from.

The river will be high because we had lots of rain to the north & west of us, be a while before I can get out to feed those fish. Most are catfish with heads larger than if you put your hands together with thumbs & forefingers, not exaggerating one bit. They surface when I talk to them & flop all over each other to reach the bread. I limit them to half a sandwich loaf per day, will check the "day old bread store" to see if their policy has changed. At one time it was really reasonable to buy for the ducks & geese & then they went to only selling the whole racks full. I couldn't use that up before it started turning green so gave up. I could buy the store brands for about the same as the day old & it stayed fresh longer in the garage. Such is my life... I spend my "entertainment" money for feeding critters.

I hear more thunder, need to check radar & get dressed. Don't usually have any street flooding on my route to church but I will leave a few minutes early. Just a tad cooler & "how sweet it is......."  (Wasn't that a Jackie Gleason quote?)

Good morning everyone. Oh boy am I emjoy ing the cool nights with no AC or fan running. Sleep better and the days are spent more outside. Quite a few sitting out yesterday, more like it used to be here. 63° now, just heard we might have scattered showers late this afternoon. Just enough to spoil a perfect weekend.

BUBBLE  love your emoji and thanks for showing up here.

JOY  I do know summer is a time for vacations and outings of one kind or another but don't think it was ever this slow in here. My grandson set me up with FB but if I check in there every few months it is a lot for me. Like Jane said, can always add a sweater of sweatshirt in winter. Could be that we are more used to cold weather here than you are further south. My older son paid me a surprise visit yesterday afternoon and brought a bag a goodies from his garden. Different kinds of tomatoes, even a couple of the old Heritage ones, peppers and cucumbers One big bell pepper that when I saw it all I thought of was stuffed pepper. Both sons brought me tomatoes from their gardens so I will have enough to enjoy all week. Yummy, do they know me and how I love native tomatoes?

MARY ANN  new members are hard to get in here. I have tried to tell others about this site and they say it sounds like fun but not interested in joining us. A few just want to play games on their PC. Sure I like some games on mine but only at night before I close for the night, relaxes me.

JANE  been a long time since I made scalloped potatoes. When I lived in the apartment at my son's house I would make it and bake it it 2 casseroles and sent the bigger one downstairs for them. One son likes to make it with the package mix and to me that is like the paste we used in grammar school, yuck. I like grilled cheese with sliced tomato between slices of cheese.

SHIRLEY  I have a chuckle every time I picture you feeding the fish. Now that  I would love to see.  I get a picture in my mind of them, like the one you  took-Bottoms Up of the ducks. I did save that one and at times put it up as wallpaper and think of you every time I see it.

Have a good day.

Well, I barely made it to church in time this morning.  I considered the possibility of not going but all the time I was thinking of staying home, I was getting ready to go.  Seems I can't back out unless the weather is really yucky or my body is really yucky!  I guess God knows best!

I stopped around by the store on the way home and picked up stuff to get started on my LARGE pot of spaghetti sauce for canning.  I'm going to make the meatballs this week.  I can do that and stick them in the freezer until I need to dump them in the sauce and that saves me a step when I get further along.

GLORIA, I envy you all those fresh tomatoes!  My one plant is growing lots of tomatoes and yesterday, I noticed that two of them are "blushing".  I sent a picture to my daughter who did all the planting and told her one of them is hers because she deserves the first one.  She told me she'd split it with me and I told her to look closer.  There are two coming on.  She's going to be up here next weekend so they are just in time.

SHIRLEY, if you are in WM, check out the bread aisle.  We now have full loaves of whole wheat and white bread for 67 cents a loaf.  Might be cheaper than what you are buying for the fish.  Even I can make it through a loaf before it turns green although I did have to throw out two hot dog buns last week.  I think I need a "see-through" bread box.  I forgot they were in there.

The doggies are beginning to stir and I suppose that means lunch will be early since breakfast was also early today.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Jane, it was Walmart where I bought the bread this week... at 88¢, but will look closer next time to see if the 67¢ is here in Kansas!  Would you believe that even the fish are picky?  They like white bread much better than any wheat. I kind of thought it might be because they can see it better in that muddy water. The carp will even come onto the land to grab a bite, & wiggle their body backwards into the water...but they don't hang around when the big catfish are jumping & splashing. Gloria, I tried to get photos but can't operate a camera & throw bread at the same time. They are a little skittish when they see 2 people (like me & a son) standing there, but will still eat as long as I talk to them.

One of the neighbors fishes, tells me he throws them back, but not sure I believe him. I just wish he'd clear off his own space behind his house! I haven't seen his foot prints down there for quite a while, since I noticed someone had slipped & nearly went into the water... (footprints in the sand)... during high water. The bank is just sand & water fast so it cuts under the top layer of sand & can flip someone right into the current if not careful. Not sure what kind of critters have their underground tunnels all through the sand, maybe muskrats, I have seen them swimming along the edge. I enjoy the wildlife but don't want them to depend on my feeding to keep them alive, do think they are getting fatter because of it. I don't know what fish live on in the rivers????  One of these days I'll go across to the other side & take pics to show you what it looked like 30+ years ago when we first moved here & now, with trees along the river that hide my house from view.

So that's my world, not everyone's choice but "I'm a little bit country......"  Remember Joan's eyes rolling when I talked about camping & the woods??... ;)

A good Sunday afternoon HELLO to EVERYFRIEND💐

We have been enjoying a very lazy weekend.....and it sure has been nice.  Last week was a go go all the time and I think we just needed some down time.

We brought Luke, Dave and Michele's youngest son and their doggie home Friday night after dinner and picking Kate up from dance.  Dave took Matt and a friend to Vail for the weekend, part of Matt's Birthday celebrations.  Michele and Kate had a dance party to attend yesterday.  Michele was able to take her and did pretty well.  Dave picked them up about noon today.

SHIRLEY, I would love to see a picture of your place from the other side of the river.  Hope you can do that soon.

Good for you, JANE, making it to church.  Scollop potatoes and meatloaf sounds good to me.....so might just get the fixings for that to fix this week.

GLORIA, cooler weather is a nice treat.  We have had pretty hot days in the mid to upper 90's, but for the most part it cool off enough at night to open up the house after dark.

Good to read your appointments went well JOY.  I hope the results will be good for you.  Yes, these days it seemed we ALL are staring at our devices!

It makes me sad to think that you said good morning and then good night JANE, and no other posts for the day.  I know I always think about you all, but sometimes I am just too tuckered out to get a post started......sorry to say.  I truly have tried to think of someone that might be a good person to invite to join us, but so far no one has come to mind.  I just wish we could get some of our past SN posters to come join in again.  I sure miss many of our friends that are no longer with us, as many of you do.  A few of you have had a friend stop in, but they never seem to come back and join in😩.  I guess it is not for everyone.

SANDY, I just love seeing the pictures of that sweet great-Granddaughter of yours.....she is such a cutie.  Did you see the people that were hit by lightening yesterday at the PGA Tournament?  How frightening!

So good to see LLOYD and Nancy are on the road!

It is time to start some dinner.  I wish you all a good evening.

Gosh time flies!!! I have been busy doing gardening ,jams and pickles and trying to put an end to a quilt. One more border and then find a backing and it is off to the longarm.  Then I can move onto Camp quilts as I have been putting aside different wild coloured fabrics that I think are just right for skateboard quilts.

Gloria, I would love this weather till the snow falls. At night I listen to the geese flying  training their young and the loons calling across the lakes. Makes for beautiful music to sleep by..

Jenny, good to see that Michelle feels well enough to join in  the party.

Shirley, I think you have as much fun feeding your fish as I do the birds here...but I need to train crow that 5:30 am is not breakfast time. I understand about being country...no way am I a city girl.....love the country.

Sandy, I think we were all in the wrong business.....wow that is a lot of money!

Phyliss, hope you are ok?

Dog are ready to come back in...pup now barks when he wants in. Who has whom trained?

Enjoy your evening everyone.

Hmmm, now I am talking to myself :)

Going to take hubby to get his feet done then this afternoon I will take the van back in to get the part replaced that is acting up. The mechanic gave this part a whack with the hammer and it has behaved ever since but not trusting how long it will behave it will get replaced.

I had this sent to me and can't believe what this young man has done, he sure is amazing and has the right attitude on life now!

REFRESHING

I didn't see it when the lightening

wait for play to start up again.

The way that everyone got off the
course so fast,  I should have
realize that trouble was on its way...

That is very scary IMHO..  but every
one seems to be OK.

Have a good week everyone!!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning" to you, AMY.  We don't want you talking to yourself so here I am!

Today is a WM day so I have to keep moving or I won't get there on time.  After I'm ready, the doggies will need to go for a walk.  We've kind of developed that habit!  It's amazing how little time it takes them to get used to something new.

JENNY, the meatloaf and scalloped potatoes were/are delicious.  I have enough for several more meals.  I'm going to make up a couple meals and freeze them for later.  You can't make just "little" meatloaf!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning everyone, boy did I sleep good last night, It is now almost 10 am and just getting here with my first cup of coffee. Temperature now is just 54°. Is it any wonder I slept so good?

JANE  your talking about that first tomato for your daughter reminds me of the time I had a small garden where I lived before moving to my son's house. I has a tomato getting ripe and kept watching it. The day came I knew it was ready to pick and all the way home from work I could just imagine tasting it. Got home and it was gone. I asked the old man in back of me if he saw who took it he said he picked it to give to a friend. I blew my top and he never stopped saying he was sorry he didn't know how much I was loo‌king forward to it  and would never pick anymore. I felt bad when I coo off, that man was in his 80's and I late 40's. Nobody steals MY TOMATOES. :)

SHIRLEY  where I live in this small town is close enough to the wilderness these days and much better than living in a city.

JENNY  when it is in the 90's and humid here the nights do not cool off much and there is never a breeze either at night. I remember MARE telling me this site was to complicated for her so dropped out. In the beginning it took some getting used to.

AMY what I miss hearing at night are Whippoorwills. Hear no birds here, parking lot on this side and no birds, in the back there are trees but I don't go back there. Will check your link later.

Have a good day.

Amy, if that link you posted doesn't make people think, nothing will!  What an inspiration and attitude. His parents can be very proud of him as well as their wonderful raising of such a special person. When my last baby was on the way (born 5/63) my doctor wanted me to take the oral polio med but I refused. The news had just come out about the babies born with no arms & legs because the mothers had taken Thalidomide.... my doctor couldn't promise enough testing on pregnant women that the oral polio meds wouldn't have the same effect. I did a quick search and see not many of those babies are still living. Thanks for the link and reminder of how much each of us have instead of "have not".

Steamy out today, AC not on but humidity is over the top, may have to turn down the numbers. Need to get a couple of loads of laundry done, been washing up some of the freezer tubs I hadn't used for a while. Washed pitcher & changed Brita filter, the kind of puttering that makes you "tired & can't see a thing I've gotten done!"

Gloria, I can imagine your wrath that someone gave away your only tomato! I had a huge pot with one tomato plant, (most expensive tomatos in the world).. and as the first turned red some worms found it & didn't leave one spot for me to claim. I nearly pulled my arm out of it's socket throwing the remains toward the river!  :tissue:  :angry2:  :sealedlips:

Poof went the day. I got a lovely surprise at the garage when the bill came to $40.00 less than they had estimated.  Came home and picked more beans, did a bit of sewing and now I am going to put my feet up.

Shirley, I had to watch that twice. What an amazing young man with a terrific outlook on life. His parents must be so proud of him.

Gloria, we don't have Whippoorwills here, think they used to be but not now. Last night I had 9 mourning doves at the feed.

Lloyd, please don't drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly!! Hersey Dark chocolate is my downfall.

Joy and Phyliss hope you both are alright.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

I'm here to bid you all GOOD NIGHT!  I don't want AMY to get up tomorrow and be talking to herself so I'll say a special "good night" to AMY!

Tomorrow will be a busy day.  I have a meeting in the morning and then I'm planning to go to the movie in the afternoon with a couple of friends.  Might be, I'll cancel out on the movie so I can get the meatballs made and frozen.  I really want to make spaghetti sauce soon.  I don't think I've ever been completely out of my own home made sauce.

I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone.
Nice cool morning herd with a temp of 50° F and I am listening to the loons call on the lake.
We are off in a bit to the city, I get blood work done and hubby gets his hearing aids looked at.

Jane, thank you.  We had spaghetti last night for supper, done in the IP.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's dark so mch later these days!  This morning we got up at six and it was still dark out there.  I think the seasons are changing.  They always creep up on me.

The doggies and I are waiting for the boinger and today I have to remember to call the vet and see if there's anything to do for Annie's itchies.  She can't reach to scratch and I guess that's a blessing because she can't hurt herself but she does get annoyed and her foot goes as if she's scratching.  I have a homemade remedy that I've bee putting on her behind but it's not working as well as I hoped.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone, first I want to thank Amy for the link yesterday. I watched it late yesterday and what a wonderful man he is with a God given outlook on life. I remember when so many babies were born with deformities like that from a med they were giving pregnant women. My DIL had morning sickness from the beginning and refused to take anything for it. I saved the link to share with others and I know she will watch it and thank God she never took it. 60° a bit after 8:am so it did get into the 50's during the early morning

Shirley Like you that link Amy posted touched me and I bet everyone who watched it. For someone who lives for that first tomato of the season and see it disappear is heart breaking. Your went because of nature but mine went because an old man wanted to show off for a friend. At least I gave him a piece of my mind and I can imagine you cursing those worms. This year my daughter had birds get her first one.

LLOYD  glad you check in here so we don't send out a sear ch team for  you. When you take a bite of the Hershey chocolate think of me. My downfall is like it too much.

AMY  goodness how many rows of beans did  you plant? Wish  my son would plant the yellow butter beans, like them better but getting so they don't even have them in the farmers markets here anymore.

JANE  so many I have heard say they by jars of spaghetti sauce and doctor it up and is better than home made. Makes me wonder what they have for taste buds. They cannot fool me because there is something about the taste and texture of the bought stuff that it terrible.

One of these days I will leave the shades up in the afternoon because the sun will feel good, Now as soon as the sun hits my windows the shades come down so really have no noticed how early it is getting dark and it always light when I wake up.

PHYLLIS  JOY  MARY ANN hope you are  OK. Miss you

Good morning, Jane, Amy and Gloria.

I am doing ok.  I just got busy yesterday and the day got away from me.  I am feeling a lot better and finally feel like getting some things accomplished that I was too tired to do before,  Plus I got a grocery order and had that to put away, I had ordered some steamed shrimp, so made shrimp salad and also had a big bag of grapes that I broke off of the stems and washed them and put them in a bowl in the fridge. Easier to just reach in and grab a few.

Had some paper work to go through and shredded most of it.

It is little cloudy this morning and still chilly. I do think it is supposed to get warmer the end of the week and turn into being a nice Labor Day week end.  No special plans right now.

I did hear from the doctor about the CT scan  I had done last Friday, and everything was fine.  Now just have one more to hear from.

Jane, I think you should go to the movie.  The meat balls can wait.  LOL

Amy, good luck with your blood work. And, have a safe trip into town.

Gloria, I had to laugh at your story about the old man stealing your tomato.  I guess at the time, he just didn't think of it as "stealing" it.  He was just being nice to his friend.   I have been using jars of spaghetti sauce forever and I do "doctor" it up.  I very rarely made my own spaghetti sauce, so I guess that is why I don't see any difference.  I usually use a good brand.  One of my DIL is a vegetarian, so I don't use a meat sauce anymore and all my family all say what I use is good.  I went to a local Italian restaurant and decided to get their signature spaghetti dish, and I did not like it.  It was very watery and I did not like the taste. And, it is a very popular place.   I still prefer mine out of the jar. LOL  Just all what you get used to.

I need to get on with my day. So, I will just wish all a very happy Tuesday.

Joy

Gloria, there is no reason I haven't posted, I just haven't.  Time is not a problem.

I finally started working on a genealogy for a friend of Tom's and it is interesting because the names and places are new to me.  With my own family, most hints I get are for back in the 1500-1700 and I'd rather have more modern hints.  Then I get hints about either or both of my parents and I either have the info - or it's wrong!

Gloria, I suppose your neighbor thought you wouldn't miss that one tomato, even if if was the only one, but shame on him for taking YOUR tomato.  I don't try to grow  any tomatoes now but I have in the past.  Norm always had a lush plant and when he would leave to Florida in late September, I got the remains of his plant.  I now order my produce online and I have been very satisfied with what the girls pick for us.  There is no way I am going to be able to walk through a store now.

Tom has gone out for breakfast and he may bring back a cranberry muffin for me.  Even so, I will fix something for my breakfast soon.

Mary Ann

It's time to head off to bed but I wanted to check in here first.

MARYANN and GLORIA, my ITALIAN MIL would roll over in her grave if I ever uses storebought spaghetti sauce.  She shared her recipe with me from the beginning and my kids all got used to it.  I did too.  I think I bought 2 jars of sauce once when I was in a hurry and I wanted to make manicotti.  One of my kids said, "the next time you're in a hurry, don't buy sauce.  Wait until you have more time!"  Everyone agreed!  And I did doctor it.  They still knew!

I did go to the movie.  It was called OVERCOMER and if you ever get a chance, see it!  It was excellent!  Take tissues!

I'm gonna hit the sack now.  I wish you all a peaceful sleep and a happy tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one.

Here I am posting late again......

We had a nice surprise visit from our California DIL and Baby Jonah this afternoon.  She flew in yesterday and will return home on Friday.  Her parents live about 30 minutes south of us.  Jonah was a bit leary of us....😢. We just need to get out to his home and spend more time with him and then he will get to know us😩. Anyway it sure was great to see them.  He has grown so much.....he will turn 9 months old on the 6th of September.  She is going to try to get to Matthew's first football game tomorrow afternoon so she can see as many of us as she can....this is IF Jonah is doing OK that late in the day.

Michele is not going to be able to get her gamma knife treatment this week.  They offered her next Friday, but that is only two days after her last chemo, so that will not work.  It was a long shot for sure.

AMY, I enjoyed the video you shared very much.  Thank you for sharing it.

JANE, happy to read you did go to the movie and that you enjoyed it.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

Good morning everyone.

Light mist at the moment, good for the lawns and gardens.

Yesterday went well, we both got in our appointments before the appointed time. Then we took the long way home ,stopping at the restaurant that hides your plate with fish and chips!!So delicious!!

On the way home we came upon an accident that had just happened,a roll over but since thee were lots of people there we didn't stop. Listening to the new last night we found out it was a lady  high on drugs and booze! :angry2: All I can say is thank God she didn't kill anyone, traffic was heavy with folks going home or out shopping for school clothes.

Neither one of us wanted supper last night.....just toast!

Today is pick up dog food and get a few things in town.

Lloyd, great bargain for delicious chocolate!! Safe travels for you and Nancy.

Enjoy you day everyone.

Good morning every one, looks like out nice cool dry days are at a end for now. 62° and rain this afternoon. Will be stuck in our apartments on this area of the building this morning. New floor coverings starting to be installed in the hallways. They tore up the filthy carpeting up yesterday. At 9 this morning they will put glue down on the floor, will take 2 hours to set before they put tiles down. Will wait and see what the tiles are. Had to tell my CNA yesterday she will not be able to get in here so had to cancel. Today is usually laundry day for me so she did it yesterday. Wonder what it will be like when they do the elevator. I will be stuck in here again, cannot use the stairs. It will take 3 days to do one floor. This hall is short-only 5 apartments but the other hall will be done 2 different days. Looking down that hall looks like the last mile it is so long. I am lucky I am near the elevator, just a small maintenance room between the elevator and me.

JOY  guess it is what we get used to. I have always made my  own sauce, was told how from an old Italian woman and have taught daughter and sons and DILs how. It is easy except for the hours of simmering.

MARY ANN  I have a niece into genealogy and every time she finds something about either of my parents she sends it to me. Except for cousins she never met and is not in touch with my daughter and me are the only ones she knows.  At times I will tell her some things about my brother -her Father-and she loves hearing about him when he was young. He was 10 years older than me.

JANE  there is something about that bought sauce that just tastes odd, the texture or the taste but I cannot eat it. Had it is some well known Italian restaurants  and don't like it there either. Like soup, no can soup tastes as good as home made.

JENNY  what a wonderful surprise to see your DIL and Jonah. My little great grandson was hesitating with me when he was about a year old. Now at 4 he comes right to me with hugs.

LLOYD  I always have the Hershey chocolate bars in the house for when I need a chocolate"fix". I would hate to see how much I would spend if I ever went there.

AMY  we have thunder storms and downpours in the forecast for late afternoon. A cold front co‌ming in and rain coming from the storm Erin down in the Atlantic.

If I want to get out at all I better get a move on to be back in here before 9:am.
Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We've been up and attem since 6 a.m. and the first batch of meatballs are cooling on the kitchen counter until they can be popped into a plastic bag and into the freezer for use "whenever".

I thought I was going to make and can spaghetti sauce this weekend but my daughter, SIL and granddaughter are all coming up from Maryland this weekend.  Frankie, my gdaughter is moving into her own apartment and they are bringing her stuff and helping her move.  They are also bringing the rest of the rocks to finish my landscaping project so I have to remember to call the guy who is doing the big one.

I have to pack the meatballs and be ready to leave for work by 9:45 so I better "put an egg in my boot and beat it".

I wish you all a lovely day!

I have to smile at you women who just "have to have" homemade something or other.  That's fine when you can make your own, but if, like me, you don't have the talent or inclination, I'd go without a lot of things if I didn't buy a certain product.  I never was a good cook, more like a good baker.  My specialty was cakes of various kinds.  I do no cooking now.  I am thinking of making a casserole of some type soon.  I'd really like a Cabbage Roll Casserole, but I'd settle for something Pasta or Chicken Mushroom Soup.  Tom says he likes to cook, however, he's seldom home and our meals are often hot dogs or hamburgers.  Tuesdays he goes to Bible Study with Robin, who cleans for us, and we have vegetarian pizza.  I want something I can get my teeth into (seeing I still have my own teeth).  That said, in most other ways, Tom is very helpful and I have few complaints.

I had an eye test yesterday and things are about the same as in January.  I do have glaucoma in both eyes, but at my age, I'm not surprised.  My problem now is focusing because I have a hard time reading anything.  I don't even try with books and such, but I like to read the messages here, so I appreciate the larger fonts and bold print - one or the other is readable.  Thanks to all for large favors.

Today I am going to lunch with three or four other retiree women.  Tom takes me, but eats away from us, sometimes at a different restaurant, but not usually.  We're going to the Olive Garden today.  A different place each month.  The other women all live in the south end of town so we always eat out there.  Come to the north end?  Too far!  I don't drive now and Tom is willing, so we eat in the south end each time.

It looks like we will have a nice day today but we're not up to 70 degrees yet.  As I so often say - the sun is shining so it's a beautiful day!

A good Wednesday Morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 💐

On this day, two years ago our dear friend Joan went to heaven to be with her savior🙏. I hope she knows how much we miss her and how often we comment on things that she used to say to us😢

MARY ANN, enjoy your lunch out with the gals today. I think many of us just do not have much of a desire to cook a lot of things like our friends JANE and AMY do all the time!  I think I wore myself out years ago keeping my four boys fed!  I feel I was a good cook as my hubby and sons all say I was.  I go in spurts.....I get hungry for particular things and I do quite a bit of cooking, then back to going out more frequently.  Most of the time the problem is finding something that we both want to eat.....and right now nothing seems to sound good at all!  God to read that your eyes have not change too much since you were in earlier.

JANE, your "meat-a-balls" sure do sound yummy to me!  Never really found a good recipe for them either....we generally have Italian Sausage with our pasta!

GLORIA, what an inconvenience it is when the hallways are under repair.  Sorry you had to cancel your CNA.  I felt your pain of coming home to discover someone had picked your tomato!  That is just WRONG!  I don't care wha5 your neighbors intensions were!  Gurrr!  On our local Nextdoor, a community forum, a lady posted that someone had picked ALL of her long awaited apples on the tree in her front yard.....what is wrong with people?  That is stealing....no doubt about it.  Good grief how can anyone think that is OK?

AMY, sad to come up on an accident but thankfully there were already people there.  It makes me so angry how many accidents are caused by drugs, alcohol and CELL PHONES!  One of my cousins just posted pictures and the details of the accident her grandchildren were in.  It was a drunk driver at 4:30 in the afternoon that T-boned the grandmother on the other side of the family's van.  The pictures are frightening of the damage to the car, but thankfully the 2 kiddos and the grandma escaped with minor injuries.  The mother's written description of the trama the young children are suffering is heartbreaking.  The poor grandma is just beside herself that it happened....she ma never be the same and sure does not want to drive the children ever again!

I guess I had best get busy and do something or the day will have passed and it will be time to head out to Matt's first football game.  I want to support this young man, however I have to say I wish he was not playing tackle 🏈....he has so much going for him and I think he could have done without this experience in his life!  Shame on you grandma🤬🤬🤬. I hope you all know that I am just concerned for his safety......his family does not need one bit more of any hardships🙏🙏

It is time for me to get oof of my soap box.....Enjoy the rest of your day.

Jenny

Hi Everyfriend!  Today started off fine getting the meatballs done.  Then I went to work and it started off terrible.  They've changed some policies and there are things I need that I can't access because my phone is too old.  One of them is my work schedule.  It was availbable on the Associates network and they decided to make it available to people's phones.  In the process, it seems that my cell phone is too old to access the necessary information.  Therefore, I can't access the Associates website.  Therefore, I have to have someone get my work schedule for me or buy a new phone for $500. plus.  I refuse to do this so I have to ask someone to take the time to do it for me.  I hate doing this. So my day started out bad.

Thank goodness I had some of my favorite customers through my line today and the day improved.

Now I'm really tired and thinking about going to bed early tonight.  If you don't hear from me later it's because I hit the hay early.

MARY ANN, I cook because it relaxes me.  I told my daughter that I don't need one of those adult coloring books to relax.  All I have to do is go in the kitchen and cook something.  I've also found lately that cleaning up certain things relaxes me too.  I still don't like general housekeeping but washing up a dirty floor and seeing it clean gives me a good feeling.  And taking a load of clean laundry out of the dryer, folding it and seeing it ready for the drawers gives me a good feeling.  A freshly made bed is a good feeling.  And sharing what I've made with a friend is a good feeling.

I've never eaten out much since my husband chose a different wife, mostly because I didn't have the time or the money but also because I didn't want to do it alone and by the time I was ready to eat, it was too late to call someone.  That's one of the reasons that I cook.  I like to eat good meals and cooking them is one of my pleasures.

JENNY, that accident must have been terrible.  And I can understand why that grandma didn't wat to drive the kids any more.  All the years I was picking up Kiran after school, I worried about safety.  Thank goodness, we never had any close shaves and we are both safe and have good memories of those years.

I'm going to go get something to drink and watch a little TV and probably be off to bed in a little while.  I wish you all a peaceful night's rest and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Another day had sneakers on and snuck away on me. We are off early in the morning to be up at the vets for 9 am., Babe has been licking her foot to the point of licking the fur off she did this in 2017 also. I think it is an allergy to a weed in our backyard.

Jenny, I get so annoyed driving is difficult enough without having to look out for these stupid people on the road too. I was happy to read that the children and their Grandmom are alright and I do hope the court threw the book at the driver!

Jane, I am sure another worker wouldn't mind doing that for you, if they needed help you would be right there quick as a wink, Hugs to you, a good nights sleep will make you feel much better.

Wish Phyliss would check in...

Night everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Janie, talking to myself again here.
Just breaking daylight now and cooler temps. Not a sound out no geese loons or crickets!
We will soon be off to the vets, my friend wants us to pick up some pills for her fil's dog while we are there. Will stop in drop off the pills and if time permits go visit a lady that we have done work for in the past. She will soon be heading off to stay with her son for the winter.

Gloria, hope the workmen are soon done their job and you can get about and not be confined to your floor.

I am another one that loved to cook and bake. I find it relaxing and when I bake/cook I like to do big batches.

Mary Ann enjoy your lunch out. We used to have an Olive Garden in the city but it shut its doors. We also like the Cabbage Roll Casserole, easy to make and so delicious especially the next day.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Sorry AMY, I did a crossword puzzle first or I'd have been in here first and you wouldn't have had to talk to yourself.

I think Annie is suject to allergies too.  She's been scratching like crazy lately.  I'm tried all my homemade remedies and they're not working so today, I call the vet.  It's so hard to watch them suffer!

Also want to finish up the meatballs and get them in the freezer before Christy and family shows up.  That and taking the trash to the dumpster are today's assignments.  In between, I have some papers to shred and a couple of things to clean up.  Not much else on the agenda.

AMY, it's not a coworker that I need to have get my info.  It's a manager.  Or I need to take time off the register and sit down in front of a computer at work.  And with only 12 hours on the clock and those being some of the busiest hours, I don't like to do that.  But what really irritates me is that they keep changing how you have to access the info.  One day it's one thing and then the next day they change it.  It's not our store doing it.  It's the central office.  If I were in Oklahoma,  I'd go in the office and give them a piece of my mind....not that it would do any good but it would make me feel better.

Now that's out and I'm going to forget it for today.  Nobody even has to comment on it.  Just ignore it.  I have to close this up because it's time for the boinger and the doggies are getting restlss.  Breakfast Time Approaches!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

PS. Good Morning LLOYD.  Be safe, ALWAYS!

Good morning everyone, boy did we get rain yesterday. Started early morning  and still pouring when I went to bed. Just heard on TV this area had 3 inches of rain. Sure glad it wasn't snow. With the wind we had, too, we would be snowed in almost. Sky is clear now but lot of clouds. The tiles put into the hallways are carpeting squares, much better than what they tore up. A grayish blue with white specks, pretty.

JANE  glad you make your own meatballs and not settle for those frozen ones they sell now. I had a niece who bought those and they were tough and way too much garlic in them I took one bite and left the rest. She always took short cuts in her cooking and wondered why I did not accept more invitations for a meal. Hope to see some pictures of you new garden yard when it is finished.

MARY ANN  I preferred baking pies to cakes. I could never make cakes look pretty, no talent for decorating them. My Mother was a great cook and guess I was spoiled with all home made food.

JENNY  I think we all miss JOAN, I still miss her morning words of wisdom she spent so much time looking for. I might not have been so mad at that old man if he ate it himself but to pick it and give it to a friend of his made me see red. On the hews this morning they were showing many accidents by those trying to be a red light. Talking about putting cameras in all traffic lights to take pictures of all running red lights and giving them BIG fines or loosing the right to drive. Oh NO too young for football.Cannot see why those that should know understand about brain injury from the rough play.

JANE  the group my CNA belonged to was taken over by a different group and were told nothing would change. Ha! She now has to have a smart phone in order  to sign in when she gets here and do the same when she leaves here. They want to make sure they do not cheat on the times they are working.

AMY  if I was a early starter in the mornings I could have gone downstairs to wait out the time but I an slow now in the mornings. At times I do not get around to getting dressed till after 10. I sit here with my 2 cups of coffee to see what every one has done since yesterday, then check my email and answer some of them and delete junk. They did this short hall yesterday and half of the long hall. Will take several weeks before they finish. I dread when they do the elevator. I cannot do the stairs and if I could I can not take my rollator down with me.

PHYLLIS  so sorry you were in the hospital. Not a pleasant place to go but glad it is there when needed. Take care of yourself and feel better.

Phyllis: Great to have you back and thanks for sending us your information. It surely is not fun to be in hospital any time- except when bringing home a baby  :)  Let everyone help you so you will stay home.

Phyllis, sorry about the trip to the hospital. Hope they fixed whatever ailed you. I packed up the RV with cats & fixin's for a birthday party for my brother (94), his wife (85), roast & gravy, mashed potatoes, 3 kinds of bread (to go with the gravy and to use as open face meat spread sandwich).... My brother loved meat spread so I took a "tub" of it, along with the birthday cake that was a "Mom's special". (... remember that chocolate cake that takes a cup of boiling water mixed in just before dumping in the cake pan?) Took off yesterday morning but loaded the cats the night before & I slept in the RV with them so I didn't have to chase them down before leaving. It was a nice cool night but has warmed up something awful since!  The "feels like" temp while ago when I got home was 98 degrees. Humidity is awful! Comfortable night at the lake & drove home today. I am zoned out right now.

Gloria, I've decided I can learn to like a lot of foods as long as I don't have to fix them. When I cooked the eye of round roasts to have the lean meat to grind for meat spread... just couldn't throw away "all those good drippings" so made a lot of gravy from 2 cast iron Dutch ovens... then cut up about half of one of the 3 big roasts I cooked.... so bite size chunks of meat in the gravy & don't even need a knife to eat over mashed potatoes or thick slices of bread.  Everyone seemed to like it. I took a family size package of instant mashed potatoes... along with a quart of whole milk. I mix half & half of water & milk so they taste more like "real" mashed potstoes. My sister fixed a delicious strawberry & spinach salad. I am so tired tonight, had a head wind most of the way but cross wind when it changed. Think I need a nap before going to bed!

Can't make sense tonight... had turned the computer off & when it came back on it had a warning about a virus... turned it off again & it didn't save the Word Pads I keep minimized down to use all the time. Will wait until later to see how much damage this caused. (Scarlett)... "I'll think about it tomorrow.".

Popped in to say Good Nin Everyfriend and need to tell Phyllis, "I'm very glad you're home.  Now you take good care of yourself, you hear?"

I'm off to Dreamland.  I hope they're all good ones.  I wish you all peaceful sleep and a very happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Good morning everyone...

We had a thunderstorm during the night with a gentle much needed  rain, Trip to the vet went well, two different pills and a spray for Babe for her feet. They seem to be working as she is not biting at her feet now...plus I have a sock covering it also.

Have household chores to do today, when do we not? Pick up hubby's blister packs from the drug store then off to a garage sale at our old home.

Shirley that meal sounds so delicious, melt in your mouth delicious. I am not a fan of humidity, makes one melt!

Better go see what Jesse is up to, he is too quiet.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem but don't have much time.  I have to get dressed and take the doggies for a walk before I go to work.

AMY, we got one pill and a spray for Annie's leg.  I never thought about putting a sock on her leg.  I wonder if I have one small enough.   Maybe I'll pick up a pair of kids socks on my way home.

I better get a move on!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

I had a good night's sleep so feel much better today.  I was so sick with head pain, nausea, and extreme vertigo and when both arms became numb David decided to call EMS. They were thinking I was having a stroke so took me to the hospital.  They kept me for two days and did all kinds of tests and found no sign of stroke or anything going on in the brain.  Apparently, after a long time of being in remission, the Meniere's Syndrome has come back.  Not much can be done about that except to take some medicines and pray that it goes away.  I'm getting back to a more normal feeling and hope it stays that way.

It is a beautiful morning here with temps in the 60's and much lower humidity so that helps.  David is keeping us fed and keeping the house running smoothly.  Thanks to a lot of mac'n cheese that I made in the IP a couple of weeks ago and put in the freezer, plus the generosity of friends, we have had enough food to eat that didn't need much preparation.  I must eat breakfast.  Have been cautioned by doctor to eat regular, small, bland meals to avoid the nausea, if possible.

Sorry I have not commented to each one of you but I want you to know that it means a lot to me that you have been concerned.

I think the IP will make some Egg Custard for me today.  That should go down and stay down OK.

Good morning everyone, just heard on the news that the old Farmers'Almanac is saying a hard winter this year. I was wondering if it would be an early winter this year since the "dog days of summer" were here in July instead of August this year.  Will just have to see if the Almanac is right for a change. The workers finished the hall way on this floor yesterday and it looks so good. Softer underfoot, almost like it is spongy. Would be nice to walk barefoot on but that is something I no longer do.

SHIRLEY  I always made a lot of gravy with a beef roast. Love a hot beef sandwich with left overs. Then mashed potatoes need that gravy, too. I used to buy the eye round corned beef  but now they don't seem to have them every St. Patrick's day so gave up corned beef. Glad you had a good trip but sorry you got home to high humidity. Like you it is something I could live without. I have seen the spinach strawberry salad but never tempted to try it. Odd combination.

AMY  when we have a thunderstorm during the night I seldom hear  it unless there is a very loud boom that wakes me. Jesse like a little kid? when quiet we figure they are up to something bad.

JANE  my daughters dog will not keep anything on his feet, will not let her put a coat on him either on the cold winter days where they are now in Arizona. He does not mind walking in the snow they get but hates going out when it is raining.

Looks like the southeast Florida coast is in for Dorian to hit. I think if we get one here I will ask my son if I can stay at his house. The material in this building is not the best and wonder how it will stand up to a hurricane. We have not had one in this area since it was built. I can picture the roof over me being blown away. Oh well should borrow trouble before it happens, right?

PHYLLIS   glad David and your friends are taking care of you and making sure you have good things to eat. Rest and take care of yourself. Post when you are up to it so we know you are OK.

Have a good day everyone.

Phyllis, I hope you are better for a while.  It is scary when your symptoms mimic a stroke.

I'm the one who did not sleep well last night.  It happens occasionally, but not for the same reason.  I have neuropathy in my feet and lower legs.  Nothing like Norm had, but it flares up occasionally.  My feet are hot and my legs feel prickly.  I could not get comfortable.

Amy, my radar looked as if your area was having rain.  It hit us last night as we left a restaurant and by the time we got home (one mile away), the rain was coming down in buckets.

Gloria, living on the top floor of a building, I'd get out too if there was a hurricane.  We have storms, but not hurricanes here.

Good morning.  It is still a little chilly, but suppose to warm up for the weekend. Temperatures back in the 80's for next week.

I have been kind of busy for the past couple days. There was a luncheon here on Wed. and then I made a trip to Wal-Mart. I needed a new watchband and wound up just buying a new watch.  It wasn't that much more than the watchband would have been. It was a cheap watch and it is fine. I have a whole box of watches that don't work anymore. I even have a real good watch that was my mothers.  I don't know why I am keeping all of them. LOL

Phyllis, sorry to hear that you were in the hospital. However, so glad that you are home and did not have a stroke. But, I know that dizziness isn't fun to deal with either.  Hope you will feel better soon.

Shirley, glad you had a nice trip to your brothers and your meals sound delicious. It has been a long time since I have fixed a roast.  Sure had my mouth watering for a nice hot roast beef sandwich. I do fix the instant potatoes and I, also doctor them up a bit. Since it is just me, it doesn't pay to make a lot of big meals for myself.

So far, I do not have any plans for the upcoming week end.  I have an eye doctor tomorrow morning, and hopefully, I will get out for breakfast. My son will be taking me.

I need to get myself  mnoving. Have a few chores to do and then hopefully, will get to sit outside later this afternoon.

Have a great day.

Joy

I'm home from work and I'm all in but my shoestrings and if I could find any of them, I bet they'd be all in, too.

For my lunch today, I picked the second tomato off my vine and had hal of it in a sandwich with nothing else and the rest of it just plain!  It was sooooooo good!  I said I had the second one.  The first one is still sitting on the counter waiting for daughter Christy to get here tomorrow.  I told her the first one was hers for giving the vine the loving touch it needed to grow.  I've never been able to grow any before!

Stay well, stay cool, stay dry, stay here!  I love hearing from all of you!

Posting late again....I just do not know about ME😩

PHYLLIS, I am sorry to read about your not feeling well and being n the hospital.  So happy you are home and I veréis he you the bes5 to feel stronger every day! Glad your David is taking good care of you.

We were suppose to head up to Vail for the holiday weekend, but Bob just did not feel like putting up with crowded roads, etc., so instead we decided to drive up to one of our 14'ers, Mt. Evans, and what a wonderful day we had.  We picked our youngest son Brian up and he rode up with us.   We have not driven up there in several years and after doing it we all said how sad we are that we do not do this drive more often.  Many of you wo7ld love the views, however not the road!  It is a paved two way road, but quite narrow in many spots with no edge on the road.  I drove so I was fine, but I would have been very nervous if I had been a passenger!

Last night we were invited to Megan's Parents home for dinner and to spend a bit of time with Jonah.  He was a bit better with us, but still a little shy.  It was good to be able to be with him again even though it was only for a couple of hours.  They flew home to California today, and Mark sure was happy to have them back home.

LLOYD, glad you have the lights fixed on the motor home and hopefully you and Nancy can get on the road soon.

Nice to see your post, JOY.

Since we did not go to Vail, Dr. Dave and Family dropped of Lola Doodle Dog here before they headed up to Vail. They could not leave until Matt was done with football practice and Kate finished dance.  I am hoping to hear from him soon saying they are there safe and sound.  I hope since they left late that they avoided some of the heavy traffic.

SHIRLEY, the meal you fixed for your brother and sil sounded yummy.  I hope the6 appreciated your driving there and bringing them that nice Birthday meal.

JANE, , my mouth watered thinking about you enjoying the tomato sandwich.  How sweet to leave the first beauty for Christy to enjoy.....how sweet!

GLORIA, glad the flooring looks nice and feels spongy under your feet.....it would be fun to walk barefoot on it!

I must get this posted....sleep well EVERYFRIEND💐💐

Good morning everyone..
A lovely day here, nice and cool.
Yesterday ended up being a busy day I did get the floors washed but no ironing done. We went to a garage sale at our old house, met really nice people and had a long chat about the house. We also bought a hall tree with a bench, heavy outfit but we took it apart, put all the seats down in the van and brought it home. Well, the place it should be was occupied but that was soon remedied. Now it is up and looks great!! They had some beautiful pieces of furniture to sell.

Today is laundry, finish up what I didn't do yesterday but go to town first before it gets crowed, long weekend here and roads are also packed.

Jenny, how did Matt like his football practise?

Gloria, no storms here last night but the one before sure made up for it. At least the power stayed on here.

Jane ,enjoy your time with Christy .Hope you had a good nights rest last night.

Joy, a lot of things are made that way now ,seems one can buy a new one cheaper. Even hobby's tools the batteries are expensive, might as well pay the extra for a brand new one.

Mary Ann ,hope you had a better sleep last night. Hubby also  has that in his hands and feet and there are times when I am driving home he rolls his pant legs up because his legs are too hot.

Phyliss, I can relate wheat you went through as that is what happened to me. NOT a nice feeling at all, I wouldn't drive it was all one could do was walk. Glad you are feeling better, just take things slow and easy. Made pea soup in the IP...done in 18 min compared to 4-5 hours on the stove!

Lloyd, glad everything is ready and safe for you and Nancy. Safe trip!

Mycheal, nice to see you, hope you join in more often.

I had better get a move on.
Enjoy your day everyone.

I can't get my brain settled on doing any one thing so far this week. Don't know if I have a "bug" or doozie hay fever, but my head is full, sneezing, coughing & even "growl" when I start to talk.... chest congestion from all this phlegm (that's how wi-ki insists I spell it)....BUT..

Jane I go back & read over the last few days to refresh what I wanted to say.... and keep smiling at your rant..."Now that's out and I'm going to forget it for today.  Nobody even has to comment on it.  Just ignore it." So everyone ignored for you, except I can't let it go any longer.... :knuppel2:  ;)  .... As soon as I get something out of my system in here, I feel better... and think it works for you, too. Hope all's well now, hugs for you.

Jenn, (or is it Kenny now?  ;D  )... are the trees showing any sign of early color?  Don't think there is any way I'll get there in Sept this year.... have a class reunion the first week of Oct & meeting with my parents hometown museum people to donate some of the school books that belonged to my father & even his mother (she was born in 1871 so very old books), including McGuffey readers. The books were special to Dad & I think he would be pleased to have them in the museum school room. Anyway, think my fall is pretty full so will have to settle for online pics & may even get out the paints & put my memories on canvas.

Phyllis, I googled your problem & since I have tinnitus really bad for years, (I know, nothing as bad as yours) but found when early on the noise was so irritating.... and my solution was to put my little Sony Walkman ear buds in & turn on the music...it did drown out the crickets/"katy-deds" or whatever you call those noisy critters in my head. When my kids were teens & had to have their wisdom teeth taken out to avoid undoing all the good braces had done, I had them take the little Sony to plug into their ears so they didn't hear the noise the dentist/oral surgeon made. They said it helped. Since I can't take pills I am always looking for ways to fix my problems without.... can't expect a doctor to help when I'm not willing to take their advice/pills. Because I have something going on with my eyes/body that scares me (more than 10 years), eyes start filling with "pixels" of colors & I grab a 325mg Bayer to take fast, fearful it is a stroke..... goes away within minutes so not at all sure what the cause & none of my doctors can guess what I'm talking about, except the ophthamologist thought it might be a migraine without the headache. As long as the aspirin works, I'm not going through a lot of tests when not willing to take pills that cause worse problems. I have noticed that now that I am taking more aspirin as a blood thinner, it doesn't work as fast when one of these "spells" hits. Anyway, you know I have a history of wanting to fix everyone's problems so don't pay attention to ole doctor Shirley.  :crazy2:

Joy, I discovered the same thing when my last watch needed a new band & battery.... cost more to replace the parts than buy new. I have been using a Fitbit for years now & love how accurate they are... & just plug in to charge every few days. I'm wearing the Versa model now, thanks to my daughter, it not only tells me how many steps I take but how much sleep I get (or don't)... Never have to set it since "it comes from satellite signal"... guess that's true, doesn't have a means to set the time. When I first started wearing one I often got 10,000 steps, now my goal is 5,500 & I don't hit that real often. Mainly track sleep & get angry when it doesn't count short naps! My kids all wear them & give each other a hard time when their steps aren't up to par. I am in their "friend group" to see what they are doing.

I got on the computer to print my grocery list of coupons (don't have to print coupons, just the list). Need to get gas in the little car.... still have 60 cents off per gallon that must be used today... had $2.00 off when filling the elephant... can only use one at a time but put in the first 25 gallons & only half full... so used the other dollar off & put in nearly another 25 gallons, that saved me $70 on gas that fill up!  I use gift cards to buy everything to get those gas points & wait until they have a "4x" offer like this week end. Lowe's, Amazon & taking everyone to breakfast on Sunday mornings keeps me stocked up. At 4x I spend $250 & get the thousand points for a dollar off for 35 gallons. Been sitting here for nearly 2 hours typing & thinking & still don't have my list printed.  Tom came in & thought he was going to get breakfast so better get moving.

Have a Super Saturday!  Love y'all.  Shirley

Good morning everyone, woke later and that feels good. Getting tired of waking around 5 in the morning, Heck I don't have to get up and ready to go to work anymore. The sun is shining and the sky is blue so should be a good day.

MARY ANN  last time a hurricane got to this area was back in 1954 and did a lot of damage. Usually hits the shore line bad. We have not had one in this part since this building was put up.

JOY  I had a nice couple of months with no appointments, next one is near the end of September.

JANE  nothing tastes as good as picking a tomato and enjoying it ASAP. I could be happy with tomato sandwiches every day of the year if they were all like the ones we pick in the summer.

JENNY  the carpet tiles now in the hallway I would like it on the floors in here, then I would be walking barefoot in here.

AMY this week end here I sure would not want to travel any place. Traffic will be horrible with some going to a last week end away from home or coming home from a summer away.

SHIRLEY  my doctor told me that if my back pain acts up between my pain pills to take an aspirin, think that works better than the pain pills I hate taking, they do not work that good and I will not take more than prescribed.

Have a good day.

I'm up and attem and ready for company but I still have a couple of things to do before they get here.  Annie's de-itchyizer pill is due now and that means I have to spray her foot and take them for a walk to distract her from licking the stuff off before it has time to do it's job.  The vet said that if she does lick at it, there's nothing there that can harm her but I need to give it time to set to do it's job.

So I'm off to take care of that.

I read everything and I sympathize, agree, worry, care and love all of you!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Want to check radar before going to the store... so nice & cool right now, Gloria, you'd love it! Every time I hear one of the commercials that have the "pot" in it (now that it's legal in KS)... I think of you & wonder if you've tried it yet on your back. I know during WWII we heard that Kansas was planting it all over for the rope/hemp, & that's why it got a bad name, the wild kids of the generation later harvesting & smoking. I guess there is a difference in what CBD is & whatever the other part that gives a "high" is. Anyway, I think of your back pain & wish you could find something that really helped. This morning temps feels like fall but know it will get hot later, I'd love to get more sleep but hate to waste the cool air. Decisions!!! I need to trim my hair before a shower so better check radar & make the choice... DO SoMETHING!

Laundry off the line and put away, I even baked cookies ,so we have something to nibble on with a cold glass of milk...oatmeal cookies are in the hidey hole.
The other day I made Bean and bacon soup....must have been really good when hubby said you can make that again!! Found the recipe here...an although I didn't use the thyme or bay leaves it was still good.

Going to go put my feet up for a bit,.. I played frisbee with Jesse and then picked beans and that is all I am going to do.

I have more "un-done" chores than what got done... Got stuck by a train, really long one, so couldn't get to the bank to deposit my pension check before noon. Did get the groceries I went for but by the time I gassed up Little Red & made my way through packed grocery aisles, it was hot when I got home & still had to have a bite of lunch & nap won out over cleaning out the RV. The river is up so can't get out to feed the fish.... but left some food down for whatever critters eats rib bones & bread. Won't be a trace left when I go down tomorrow, something can chew up those bones completely. Tom & Tiger only went out on the top of the hill to watch me go down, Callie came down with me. She loves going out onto the sandy river bed to roll, but smart enough to not want to get wet with that little stream next to the bank still flowing. All 3 are sitting in the pool area watching the back door, they know it's about time for their "midnight snack" of canned Friskies. They all cleaned out their bowls of the roast & gravy for supper. I also gave them each 5 pieces of hamburger. They have been eating a lot of dry Friskies as well as their salmon & tuna for breakfast. Since I haven't been buying the rotisserie chicken  for them I give them some canned chicken breast (from Sam's Club). They aren't crazy about it but usually Tiger will go around & clean out Tom & Callie's bowls. I heard that cats had to have a strict diet but these cats didn't read about that.

Amy, I do love oatmeal cookies (without raisins). I used to put in butterscotch chips sometimes when the kids were little. Had a neighbor years ago that baked oatmeal cookies for her husband's breakfast... he left early & all he wanted was the cookies & cup of coffee. My mother said her grandmother loved a piece of apple pie for breakfast.

Well, the kids have lined up at the door for another meal. Will feed them & go trim my hair & shower for an early up day. Hope all's well in your corner of the world. Except for mosquitoes the walk down to the river was nice, temperature, but I had to get in fast.

A good Saturday evening to EVERYFRIEND.

I can not believe it is the last day of August....it is my brother's Birthday, so I know it is....but!  How can another month be gone?  It is also the 22nd anniversary of Princess Diana's untimely death😩😢 I will never forget the date.  We were at a wedding in Auburn Alabama, and it was so sad for everyone to hear about the accident😢

AMY, the bean soup sounds so good to me.....even though it is hot here I think I am going to make that soon. Thank you for sharing your yummy oatmeal cookies.  Yummmm! Thank you for sharing the bean soup recipe.  Matt loved playing in the game.  He played a lot in the first half, but they were beating the other team pretty handily so the coach pulled all of the starters out and let others play. Bob was quite impressed with the coach the way he talked to the players and explained stuff to them and then not leaving the starters in and letting others play.  It was fun to watch, but it was HOT as can be at 4 PM and we were nearly ill by the time it was over.  Just FULL us in our face the entire game! We had a umbrella but it could only do so much.

Enjoy your company, JANE.

LOL, SHIRLEY......I knew you would not let me get by with signing off as "Kenny"🤣🤣🤪. When I saw it, I changed it as fast as I could....hoping no one noticed!  We did not see any sign of any trees changing yet.  I am sad that you probably w8ll not make it out here in September😫

I just returned from a little visit with my Neighbor Pam, the lady that had to have her legs amputated a couple of years ago.  She has been having some remodeling done on her place and I wanted to see how it was going.  The best news she shared is that her wounds on both legs are beginning to heal and she is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. She has had such a rough time.....I pray that she can soon be able to get her prosthetics on and walk again. 🙏🙏

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Jenny
