There was this guy at a bar, just looking at his drink.

He stays like that for a half hour.

Then a big trouble making truck driver steps next to him, takes the drink from the guy, & just drinks it all down.

The poor man starts crying.

The truck driver says: "Come on man, I was just joking. Here, I'll buy you another drink. I just can't stand to see a man cry."

"No, it's not that," the man replies, wiping his tears,

"This day is the worst of my life. First, I oversleep & I go in late to my office. My outraged boss fires me.

When I leave the building to go to my car, I find out it was stolen. The police say they can do nothing.

I get a cab to go home, & when I get out, I remember I left my wallet. The cab driver just drives away.

I go inside my house where I find my wife in bed with the gardener.

I leave my home, come to this bar, & just when I was thinking about putting an end to my life, you show up & drink my poison."

Husband to wife: My dear, you shouldn't try anything that requires an effort...

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

Good morning everyone...

Bubble ,thank you for the new start and the giggles too!

Snowing here now, beats the freezing rain they had talked about.

We had a good time yesterday and yes Jane I gave Julie a hug and happy birthday from you. Thank you for explaining to Shirley on the who and who is.

Today I am cleaning out a pantry, goodness knows what will be found in there but the time has come!!

Larry, hubby did get a pair of shoes but when he tried them again and walked about inside he said his feet slip in them. That is no good so back they go. He has trouble getting a good shoe to fit plus he has neuropathy in his feet so that doesn't help.

Joy, I did get to the fabric store but didn't buy anything. :) Maybe next time ??

Gloria, warmer here this morning  but we also have more snow to deal with later on.

Better get a move on a lot of little jobs to be done first.........should throw the ham bone in to cook and make pea soup later..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, we are back in the mid teens t his morning but at least it is not very windy. Why can't we get those winds in the summer when it would be appreciated.

LARRY  I did not watch and of the Pat's games and found out Monday morning that they won. The laundry room here is on the main floor, 4 washers and 4 dryers. A few people do go down in the middle of the night to do their laundry. There are no apartments near it. That area had an exercise room on one side and a storage room on the other and across the hall is the mailroom and the library/computer room.

JANE  I heard on local TV yesterday that warned people they will get February's food stamps later this month and might not get more till March if the shutdown lasts much longer.

JUNE  glad the new med is helping you. I take most of my meds with food or after I eat.

BUBBLE  thank you for the new page to fill up. Great second graphic, had a good chuckle from it. Your quote is so right, we do need others around us. There is a couple here that  only are seen when they do their laundry or get their mail.  I like being with people too much to do that.

AMY  yesterday my CNA cleaned out my freezer. This fridge is so tall I can hardly look in it I still miss the fridge I had.

Snow in forecast for Thursday and Sunday. Something pretty to look out at.

Have a great day

Good morning, Gloria, Amy, Jane and a big thank you to Bubble for the new page and the cute little jokes. Nice to see all you early birds.

I did sleep a little better last night.  I was up a couple times, but did go back to sleep.  It is a sunny morning, but still so cold. Only in the 20's.  There is still snow stuck to the pine trees, so I know it must be cold.

Gloria, you mentioned that you can watch movies on the computer??  Do you have the Amazon Prime?  Last night, I was looking for a movie on Amazon and just happened to see one called " One Special Night"  with James Garner and Julie Andrews.  I had never seen it or heard anything about it before, but it came out in 1999.  Now, how can you go wrong with James Garner and Julie Andrews???  It was a wonderful movie. A little sad at times, but the story lined was so comforting, that overtook the sad parts.  If you can find it, it is well worth watching.  There are a lot of movies on Amazon that I have never heard of before.

I like to watch TCM, but lately, they have not been having many movies that I like. So many really old ones, horrors and murder kinds. I like a good mystery movie, but don't like murders or horror movies.

I have had breakfast and need to see what I can get into. I plan on playing cards tonight.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Joy

Good Morning Everyone from the very cold buy dry,
rocky coast of Maine,

Thanks Joy for recommending "One Special Day"
on Prime,  with Julie Andrews and James Garner.

I always loved both of these actors...
And James Garner....  makes my heart flutter!!!

What a HUNK!!

Have a good day,  everyone.

Hi, Rick, nice to see you in for a soda.....! Make mine strawberry, please........

Joy, I loved that movie, at least I hope it's the one I'm thinking of... his wife in a mental hospital, etc?  Couldn't remember the name & always wanted to watch it again...that good. I'm a sucker for kindness & think James Garner picks the right parts... and a touch of ornery in the westerns. Do you remember the movie, "Cash McCall"? Long ago & I'd love to see that one again.
EDIT: I Googled One Special Day & it is One Special Night... (older movie with Day!) You had it right, Joy, & it is the one I've wanted to watch again.

I went to bed early, didn't think I'd fall asleep but Fitbit tells me I did. Up at 5:00 am but didn't want to face the work lined up so went back to bed. Tiger cat had not moved off the bed, so we didn't wake up again until I had 8 hours & 56 min sleep! That is about a record for me.

We had freezing fog & my local all news radio station reported a massive crash to avoid, so I guess my brain turned off, last thing I remember.

Not sure what is going on with these cats. I've been serving them people salmon for breakfast for quite a while, then Tiger turned her nose up at it so I bought the people tuna (cheapest) at Walmart, which she approved up. Salmon went way up the last couple weeks so decided they could all have tuna. NONE of them want this batch of tuna, not even Tiger. Tom will anything in sight but the girls will go hungry instead. At 3 days I've let them get away with being spoiled, usually Tom will eat their food when I'm not watching. Today I put their dishes up, am wondering if something is wrong with this batch of tuna. Can says "wild caught" & distributed by... but NOT the country where it's packed. I know there's been times China pet foods were contaminated but thought "people food" would be safe. I know all of the packages of frozen fish (NOT coated) at Sam's is coming from China so I quit buying fish there. Most of the breaded frozen fish comes from the Pacific Northwest. I do have a problem with my foods coming from China, especially fish, considering their contaminated waters. What to do????

Hi Everyone. It is another cloudy morning and still chilly outside.  I am late getting here this morning as slept in until about 8:15 and would have slept longer except Pat woke me up.  My friend was here to work with me at 9 so didn't have any time to spare but did get my breakfast eaten.  There is nothing else on the schedule for today although I am hopeful that we can get out and go to Ruby Tuesday's for their $5 salad buffet, which makes a very good main meal.

Callie, it sounds like you have been keeping pretty busy.  Rain is certainly better than snow.

Jane, it sounds like people with food stamps stock up early.  It wasn't your lucky day on the draw for the register to be assigned.  No wonder you were exhausted when your time was over.  Sure glad that didn't turn into an accident on the road to work.  I just checked the package and Costco calls them Bacon Crumbles.  They are in a sealed bag that doesn't have to be refrigerated until the bag is opened.  It has now been a long time since we purchased bacon and the Crumbles are so handy.

Shirley, I expect the same company makes the Bacon Crumbles and just changes the packaging for the company.  The one we get has the Kirkland brand, which is Costco's house brand.  I got a chuckle about Tom hanging out with a wild bunch.  Sometime ago I bought some wild caught tuna at Costco and didn't like it very much as it was stronger than the regularly canned tuna, which I eat a lot of.

June, glad they are determined that you are still suffering form the pneumonia, which may be causing the way you are feeling and hope the new antibiotic will get rid of that problem for you so you can start enjoying your life again.

Bubble, thanks for the new start and great graphics,  funnies and the Albert Schweitzer quote.  I can relate to that old man but what he is seeing in the mirror is unfortunately not what I see.  However, in my mind I can still see myself as I used to be.

Rammel, I hope you found the type of soda you like here.  I don't see sodas on menus anymore I suppose because they don't have counter dispensers  like the old drug stores used to have.

Amy, my wife sometimes some really old, outdated cans for packages of things in our pantry that have gotten pushed to the back that have to be thrown away.  Sorry the shoes slipped on your husbands feet and now have to be returned.  I haven't had that problem with the Johnston and Murphy new slip ons but have experienced it with other slip ons over the years.  I got these at a shoe specialty store that deals with foot problems.  I was not familiar with this brand but they fit very well.  You are slipping if you went to the fabric store and didn't buy anything.  At least that gives you a good reason to go back to see if you can do better the next time. :)

Gloria, is your building a controlled access building?  I take my meds usually with my breakfast and evening meals.  When we eat out in the middle of the day I will usually eat a couple of crackers in the evening when I take my meds.  Like you I like to be around other people.  We are social being and I don't think it is very healthy to isolate.

Joy, I texted with my friend in Gaithersburg, Maryland yesterday and he said they ended up with 13 inches of snow.  The weather forecast sounds like several more snows and heavy rains are expected this weekend and the days to follow.

Sandy, it is hard to beat some of those old actors like James Garner and Julie Andrews.

You can make your own bacon crumbles if you want to take the time.  Cut bacon strips in small pieces (such as 1/4 in by 1/4 in)**, fry 'til crisp, drain on paper towel, spread on baking sheet and freeze, place frozen pieces in plastic freezer bag and store in freezer.  When you want some bits just take a handful from freezer bag and add to whatever you are cooking such as omelet, scrambled eggs, etc.  I like them sprinkled on top of Mac 'n Cheese.

** Instead of 1/4 in. pieces I cut several bacon strips about 1/2 in. crosswise with a sharp knife before frying.  If the bits are too big you can always crumble them smaller with your hands when you add them to your main dish.

It seems to me that these have more flavor than the Bacon Crumbles that you buy in the store.

Talk to you all later.

Good morning, EVERYFRIEND!

it was a cold one last night.....our snow is not melting much at all, even with the nice sunshine we have each day, and another storm is on the way! Our snow never lasts long here, but this time it sure is.

Thank you, BUBBLE, for our nice new SS.

A fish and chips food truck has been recommended to us, and it will be fairly close to us today, so I think we will go check it out.  It has very high ratings, otherwise I would never even give it a try.

LARRY, I do wish a  Ruby Tuesday's was closer to us as I like the prices you quote for their specials.  We sure have noticed that the food prices have really gone up.  They blame it on the new minimum wage increasing.

AMY, I am a bit concerned about you going to a fabric store and not buying anything......😍. Sorry to read you will have to return the shoes....good luck finding a pair that will work for your hubby.  My dad's friend ordered a pair of slip on shoes off the internet and I am sure wondering how that is going to work out for him?  It will be a miracle if they work out.....but I sure hope they do!

JANE, I am sure glad the almost accident did not happen, but I can well believe it really shook you up.  Sorry you day was a stressful one for you, with having all the big orders to check out.

SHIRLEY, one always wonder when the cat won't eat something iffy is OK.....but if Tom is eating it, it must be the girls just do not care for it.  My kitty will not eat any real chicken, Turky or the like, but he loves cold cut ham!  He gets so excited when he smells it....almost like cat nip to him!  He will eat turkey in canned cat food.

Wonder where Lloyd ended up parking the RV last night?  Hope we have a post from him soon.

I have had a few distractions so I best get this posted.

Sorry you continue  to feel under the weather, JUNE.  Take care of yourself.

SANDY, I have watched a few movies on Amazon Prime the last few days....they have been entertaining however you have to keep an open mind as most of them are pretty wild, but entertaining.  The old movies are always a treat to watch.

Gotta go......

Enjoy your day....
Jenn

Well, today is turning out different than we had thought!!
I did get the pantry cleaned out and bought a shoe holder that goes over the top of the door to hold all my plastic bags/freezer bags .All tidy now.

Do you remember when I said we did behave on New Years Eve but didn't on New Years day?? We went to look at pups and today we will be bringing home a pup, a labradoodle x SND.  Kyle named his Jesse and he is marked just like Babe! Lots of fun ahead for sure. Have a cage all set up in the house and in the van for him. He will use the cage until he gets out of the pup p stage :)

Jenny, guess I am saving up for the big sale in Feb...can get great fabric for a good price.

Better go see what I need to put up out of a pups curious mind.

Good afternoon, we hurrah, we have had sun two days in a row.
Thanks Bubble for a new start. I remember when the milkman left the milk in winter, it would freeze and pop up.

Joy, I have been watching It Happy ONe Night since it first showed on TV as a Christmas show Then I bought the disc and watch it every Christmas. I mention it every year in the The TV program section, but no one every picked up on it. This movie has drama and humor. I also love to hear Julie Andrews sing, to me her voice is so clear. I have also seen her on Broadway.

Larry and Rammuel, we still have a Lunchroom and soda shop here in Riverhead, Last week the local paper had a write up about it. Same family have owned it for 50 year. still has black and white tile flour. Still can get a a good soda and other fountain drinks. Remember when most all drug stores had a soda fountain.

Shirley, About a month ago I was shopping at a fish counter in local grocery store, saw a sign said: LOcal Bay scallops reasonable price. While I am waiting for my order I started to read the fine print, and it said China. I stopped him. I thought I was get Peconic Bays which is right here.  They are world famous

Larry, Johnston and Murphy is the brand my youngest son wears.... he always had to be careful about finding shoes that fit. Narrow heel with high arch... my other son, daughter & myself have these short fat feet, about as wide as they are long (slight exaggeration).

Amy, have you ever tried the UGGS insoles... real fur lined & so comfy they took care of my foot problem (Plantar Fasciitis) I had last summer. Even though they are wool fur, they are NOT too hot for summer tennis shoes. My daughter insisted I try them without sox... my feet don't sweat in them so a miracle. She gave me a pair & I ordered another.... for a pair of shoes I bought too big. Does require extra space in the shoes, but I'm sold on them.

Phyllis, I'm sure you are right about making your own crumbles... BUT, this bag is well worth the cost, in my opinion. I keep it in the frig door & pull it out when I reach for the eggs. I doubt it is much more expensive than the amount of bacon it would take to make so much. Try it, I think you will be surprised, I sure was. I'm only on my 2nd bag but will keep on until Sam's comes up with the Wright's thick sliced "maple flavored" packages. That stuff was so good. Have you seen this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnKOsfBTh6Y

Bubble, I thoroughly enjoyed the funnies & copied the saying for my daughter. She has spent her life bringing out the best in everyone. Thanks.

Jenn, Tom will eat anything & everything. He acts like he hasn't eaten in days if it's only been half an hour, seriously.

Oh, Amy, I'm jealous. I do want a dog but don't need the uproar with 3 cats terrified (well, 2 are terrified & Callie dared to draw blood on a German Shepherd's nose that got too close) of dogs. I think a "normal" cat would be a very good house or apartment pet, but these guys are feral & must have their freedom. Jessie is a good name, ask Jack, over in Photos.

Gloria de... I can't imagine how/why fish can be imported that far & still be cheaper than what is caught local. I do remember the local drug stores with the soda fountain. The one I stopped at (when I had money) also had a few booths & could order an "open face roast beef sandwich"... best food in the world except for Mom's. I was always trying to gain weight so would have a malt instead of shake. Do you remember root beer floats?  Yum!

Laundry still running & must make another grocery run.  Have any of you tried "Aunt Nellie's pickled beets?"  My daughter says they are absolutely delicious, and we know they are good for us, right?  I do not eat enough veggies & know it. :-[

Now, Lloyd, didn't you bring along a pencil/pen & note pad?  You really can still write down a few directions or phone numbers (or ask Nancy to help you)...  ;)  You know I'm teasing......That link should just be a clickable for you, works for me. Looks like quite a few campgrounds in that area.

Hey, June.... guess what?  You posted over in Photos & I talked to you right back, not thinking of where we were but think we BOTH thought we were posting in here.  Have a look, we are losing it, my dear! I don't usually visit any other discussions than these two. Posters are kind of slow over there.  I'm hoping Amy will show us a picture of the new kid.  :smitten:

I fell asleep a little after 5:00 & didn't wake up until 7:00. Cats were all outside, waiting at the door. I am not getting a lot of the sorting & cleaning out done, but will sleep when the mood hits. The body is in charge, right, June?

How can anything so tiny (10lbs.) make such a loud noise??He is missing his litter mates, I would think but will soon settle in (I hope).

Not a lot on today, just taking hubby for blood work and trying to keep up with this bundle of fur. He has a five second attention span at the moment.

We are in for a storm on the weekend so need to take stock on what we may need.

Better go see what is happening here...too quiet!

Good morning everyone, down to the upper teens this morning. Should be getting used to it by now. Snow in the forecast for Friday, possibly up to 8 inches in this area and then mor from Saturday night into Sunday morning. The Sunday one might have even more snow. About  time, only snow we had so far was in mid November. Another item on the news just now was that some Stop & Shop markets will have rots roaming the stores in place of those we see and give those workers time in the check outs. Now I think having all the check outs open would help get customers out faster. Then I have not been in a market in almost 4 years.
On TV a couple of days ago I heard them say they well release February food stamps in mid January and to make sure to budget how one uses them because there might no be any in March.

JOY  the movies I see on my computer are from YouTube. I have been watching some old musicals from the 1940's and enjoying them, just plain entertainment.

SHIRLEY  I am lucky I usually get 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night and when I don't I feel sluggish all day. too much food comes from China, even frozen veggies.

LARRY  I wonder if we are all surprised when we look into a mirror. None of us looks like we used to. We all have a fob to use to get into this building and one of the rules is that we do not let anyone in that we do not know. After awhile living here we do get to know most of the visitors and who they are going to visit and most of us let them in. When we open the outside door into the foyer there is a panel with all the apartment numbers that a visitor pressed the right button and it rings in that apartment phone. We press a number on our phones to open the doors after they say who they are. Back door does not have that panel but still need the fob to open that door. There are some here who never leave their apartments, Not me, I make sure I go down stairs every day to see who is around and chat with them. I watch the ME channel on Saturday mornings and see some of those o westerns like Maverick and Palladin. During the week on ME I watch Perry Mason, always like seeing or reading a Who Done It programs and books.

PHYLLIS  I will fry a pound of bacon and out on paper towels and then I freeze them. Don't cut the bacon first and when cold easy to crumble them. I started doing that years ago.

JENNY  I like the old movies best. Better actors, too. Only a few of todays actors do I like.

AMY  oh boy a new puppy. You can train them your way where you cannot an older dog. OK what is a SND? A labradoodle I know.

GLORIA  de  I get so angry with food coming from China, what about our farmers and fishermen and other meat growers. Support our Americans. Even the clothes are not as good as when they were all from the good ole USA. The last  few years anything i bought with long sleeves and much too long, never had that problem when they were made here.

SHIRLEY  in the summer months there is an A&W root beer place open and they still make rootbeer floats. So good. Doubt we have that brand of pickled beets here but if I cannot find pickled ones I will drain the jar of beets and add vinegar to them. Happy Birthday have a great day and no work for you  today

LLOYD  better to stop early and not drive at night. My children all dislike night driving now. Enjoy your warmer weather where you are now.

AMY  every time we got a new puppy I would fill a bottle with hot water at night, wrap it in a towel and put it in their bed. Kept them happy and they would sleep all night.

Have a good day.

Daughter woke me up early... checking to see if I had the cell phone on.  ;)  I've been keeping it on since the Cox mess up.

Thank you, Amy, Jane, & Gloria... icky day out so not sure what I'll be doing. I/we used to do the same with hot water in a jar to keep the baby critters warm & happy... & even resorted to adding a ticking alarm clock for the German Shepherd. She was only 4 weeks old when we got her & soon thought she was just one of "the kids". Since she grew up faster than they did, wasn't long she thought she was their other mother.

First of all,  Happy Birthday to Shirley.  Hope you have a great day.

You mentioned something about Aunt Nellie's Pickled Beets.  I really like the brand "Greenwood" , I think it is, but lately, I have had to buy Aunt Nellies.  I really am not that crazy about them, but the Greenwood brand seems to have disappeared.  I like both pickled beets and Harvard beets.  A good side dish.

Amy, good luck with the new puppy. And, I see where you have already been out shoveling.

Gloria, the way you have to get into your place is exactly the same way our place works.  And, yes, we are not supposed to let people in that we do not know, but like you, a lot of us do know different family members and they are recognized.  And, of course, the UPS and FedEx drivers we usually know.  The management just put up a notice that residents are supposed to meet delivery people bringing Pizza or carry-out at the door. They do not want these drivers roaming throughout the building looking for a certain apartment.  Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.  I usually only get pizza delivered and they know me and I usually recognize the person.  I can understand why they are requesting that now.  And, another thing, some people are concerned that when the outer door is automatically opened from someone's apartment, the door stays open too long.  They are afraid someone lurking around could very easily slip in.  Just something else to complain about.  I did not know about watching movies on YouTube. Will have to check that out.

Good morning, Jane. Hope you have an easy day.

Have a couple other places to check out. And, then, I hope to get some laundry done today.

Enjoy your Wednesday.

Joy

Hi Everyone. It is a beautiful and sunny Wednesday morning with not a cloud to be seen.  I have another friend coming to work with me in less than an hour.  Then this evening we will go to the Church for our Wednesday night dinner and hopefully get an update on the surgery our pastor was to have today in Mayo's.  Then we expect that Scott will come out to visit for awhile.  That will be plenty for today with what I have already done this morning.

Patricia, I am sure your homemade bacon crumbles do have a better flavor than the ones we purchase but we will trade a bit of the flavor for the ease of having them already prepared when we buy them.

Jenny, it sounds like your area and across the country are really going to get slammed with more snow through the weekend.  My wife's sister keeps us updated on the situation and what is expected in the Kansas City area. It seems that food trucks are now very popular.  We have had them occasionally in our town in a designated area but not a full-time business.  I don't think many restaurants have a very large profit margin.  I know Ruby Tuesday was well staffed yesterday afternoon as they had vacant tables they were not using.

My friend is here so I will be back later.

I'm back to finish up my posting.

Amy, recently Pat bought three plastic trays to organize some of the canned goods in her pantry and used some plastic bends for boxes and other special items.  How great that you are getting another puppy and Babe will have a playmate.

Lindancer, one of the things I miss is getting malts instead of milk shakes.  The little town near where I grew up no longer has any businesses and just has mainly old houses.  When I was growing up we had a grocery store, drug store, barber shop, gas station, post office and over time a couple of other stores. Going to town on Saturday night was always a treat and in the summer they would show movies against the side of the building that faced out on open land using an old reel to reel projector.  We do have an ice cream shop here that is called "The Pink Dipper" that has stayed the same for the 26 years it has been in business.  We have only been there once in the 4 years we have lived here as the ice cream is very expensive and very rich.

Shirley, these new shoes are so comfortable that I am putting away my house slippers. Happy Birthday.

Lloyd, as I remember that is a pretty long way from Tallahassee on to Tampa on I-10.  I thought you planned to stay in the Tampa area awhile but you must have changed your plans.

Gloria, I heard that report about the February food stamps and mentioned to Pat that it sounded like a disaster in that people will likely use then up and not have any left for February.  However, better than not getting them at all.  Your security system sounds much like Stacey had in her last apartment.  Glad to see you leave your apartment every day even if only for a short time.  I didn't realize there were still A&W root beer stands in existence.

:birthdaygift: Happy Birthday, Shirley! :balloons:

[It's a foggy day in central Oklahoma.  Not shivery cold but forecast is that it will be by tonight - and stay that way all weekend.  :(

I went to a book discussion of "Hillbilly Elegy" this morning.  I enjoyed being with people who make good observations and express opinions.

Mention of A & W Root Beer reminded me of going for a frosty mug after husband's church league softball games. Team and friends pretty much filled the parking lot.

My high school crowd "hung out" in one of the local drugstores that had a soda fountain and some booths.  I liked cherry Dr. Pepper made with the syrup.

Food trucks are very popular in this area.  They can be seen at almost every "festival" and, in the summer, there's a special area in OKC for them to gather on some days.
I've never been to one - will need to remember to "nudge" the family next summer.

We had nice refreshments at the book discussion but my tummy says it needs lunch.  ....and so I shall obey.  ;D

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

A good Wednesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND!

SPECIAL HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES to you, SHIRLEY. I hope YOUR DAY proves to be a good one for you.  Best wishes for many more healthy years to come.

We did meet Brian yesterday and enjoyed the fish and chips.  I could not believe how many people were flocking there to buy this meal from the truck.  It was well worth the trip and the company was great!  It was so good to see Son Brian and spend a bit of time with him.

LARRY, A&W is alive and well here in Colorado, however the last time we went to one, several years ago, we had one of the grands with us and I was so disappointed that they did not serve the root beer in the frosty mug, but rather a paper cup!  So I have never been back!

GLORIA, I am happy to read that you try to get out of your place at least once a day.  I think it is so important to get out and move and to see others.  I feel part of my dad's issues now are because he is stuck at home, mostly sitting in his chair and has no outside stimulation, leaving him to dwell more and more on his pain.  He is going to the spine doctor this afternoon for a shot in his back to see if it will ease his pain.  They do put him to sleep to do it and that is always a concern.  He will have this done again in two weeks.

LLOYD, I am sorry to read that you are already heading west and no5 spending a bit of time around Tampa!

AMY, congratulations on getting a new little fur ball to keep you all company.  I had to really chuckle at the definition of SND is!  I hope the little guy will settle in soon and not keep you awake all night.

No big plans for the day.

Enjoy your day.

Jenn

Thanks for the tip on the misplaced message Shirley. I will reprint it here as I am still so tickled about the snow we had, I want to share it here.

Shirley, thanks for caring. January started out as a continuation of Dec., feeling rotten. So , they decided another chest X-ray was needed, another blood test, and the result is I am continuing on from the pneumonia and other stuff from Dec. Now I am on a different antibiotic, and doing nothing but recovering. The new antibiotic upset my stomach a bit, so I must take it with food. I feel tired, listless, but hopeful. I am not ready to leave this world yet. Too curious to see what tomorrow will bring.

We are having RAIN ! Wheeee......Two days of it now and more to come. One day was a real gully washer, most since I moved here from Hemet. (I still miss my buddies from those days in Hemet. Still keep in contact, but losing a few.)

Larry, I think I was sicker than i knew. I have never slept a whole night, then the whole following day, then the next night again. This new antibiotic is putting me back in the world.

I am NOT lying......we had SNOW cover the ground and rooftops yesterday. It came late in the day, but was soooooooo beautiful. This happened once before when we had our home in Hemet. No sign of it by morning though.

Good evening
Joy, this summer they had food trucks at the beach in Hampton Bays The Red Hats went to lunch one day and we had lobster rolls/ they were so good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRLEY  During THE war, we use to go to Whelan's drug store for dinner. In those days meat was ration. So it was a big thing to go out and eat and get roast beef or pork dinner

Lartry, when we first moved here my husband boxes to put some of the food in, on the shelves in the pantry. I still use them  one for pasta, one for cat food, also can Veg. etc.

Jenny hope your father is feeling better

Gloria, looks like we are going to have winter this weekend. My good neighbor is retiring. Now it does not look like  this week end and her daughter gave here a trip upstate reservation all made she will make it up to the hotel even.

Amy good luck with your new baby

Amy, Jane, Gloria, Joy, Larry, Mary Ann, Callie, Jenn, Gloria de... and June, I am so jealous of your SNOW! ( Don't you know we, here in Wichita, KS, are supposed to get the snow, not California??? ) Thank you all for the birthday wishes.  It was a cloudy, foggy, cold day so I kept putting off getting dressed until it is time to go to bed.  Guess being 84 is a new beginning!  Tomorrow I will get up & move this old body to get to the store for all those "what if" supplies in case we really do get the snow predicted. I'm even going to buy me a new shovel to see if I can bring it on. Thought Lloyd would have checked in by now. Wonder where they are?

Good morning everyone..
She is a tad chilly out there this morning -24° F. Not sure what today will bring , I would like to clean out another shelf one that is under the sink. Will have to find something to keep the pup busy while I do it.

I find if one shelf/cupboard gets done a day it will all be done before Spring. Going to also go through our closets an take a goodie bag to Sally Ann.

Shirley ,Shirley, they are calling for more snow here on the weekend, you may have that.

Larry, we also have an A&W in the city...

Better go see what mischief is up to......too quiet at the moment.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, another cold one here in the teens. From loo‌g online at the weather channel kloo like next week will be even colder.  This week end loo like we are in for messy weather with snow or rain mix. That I do not like at all. Better make sure I have cellphone all sharged up in case power goes out. Thought I got a lot of catalogs before Christmas but now seems like I am getting even more and from places I never heard of. Even got one from Montgomry Ward.  I just tear my name/address of and they go into recycle.

SHIRLEY  only time I used an old clock with a pup was the last one we go. She was the best of all of them.

AMY  love what SND stands for.

JOY  my daughter never cared for beets but she bought a jar of them with vanilla in it and she liked them. Never found them again so now she adds some vanilla into the jar and she said works good. Like your place I have wondered how we could stop a stranger coming in fast when we open the door to come in.

LARRY  hope your Wednesday night dinner at church was good last night and the news of your Pastor was good. Wish there was a Mayo Clinic near here, I sure would go there. That A&W is open from late May till the end of September. The only place around that has good Weiners so always enjoy a few over the summer  with a mug of their rootbeer, plastic mugs these days.

CALLIE  we used to get together in the evening at a little restaurant and take up a few booths and had cherry cokes. Fun times.

JENNY  none of those heavy mugs at the A&W here but now it is in platic ones. With so much now about using plastic this year they might use paper cups, too. Twice with different doctors I went through the shots in my back and they never helped at all.

JUNE  hope the new meds help you. I can imagine how you loved seening even that little snow. There is something about looking at a clean white world with snow that has not been walked on.

GLORIA de  so often the weather guesser predict a bad stom on the way and we get nothing. I will still wait on see. cannot do anything about the weather anyway.

SHIRLEY  hope you get enough snow to make you happy

LLOYD  I thought you and Nancy were going to stay in  one place for awhile. Looks like you travel to new places every day. You sill see more of our country that way. Just stay enjoy what you are doing. Drive safe.

JANE  not enough snow yet but then I do not have to go out anywhere so just enjoy looking at it till it gets dirty.

Have a good day.it is warmer..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Cloudy and chilly here this morning.  Supposedly the latest storm will go north of us but we are supposed to have rain and cold temps.

Out today to refill the larder.  Take care, All.

Good Morning Everyone from the cold, cold, cold
rocky coast of Maine...

I am sitting here waiting for my new land line
to come from Amazon...

I have decided to get it from Spectrum (the old Time
Warner Cable),  so that I have access to two phones,
instead of just my cell.     That way,  if something
should happen to my cell,  I have another phone here
in my apartment to use.

Tomorrow Spectrum is coming to install it.
For less then $10 a month, I have a good
landline with answering machine.  And I can talk
as long as I want to around the country  for
no extra charge.   (Just like my cell phone) ...
Gone are the limits to my chatting on the phone!!

All is well here,  but very cold and snow is on
the way.

Happy belatted birthday Shirley,   Hi
to June   et al...

Hi Everyone.  It is a really chilly morning but it is suppose to get into the upper 50's this afternoon and there is a 40% chance of rain later today.  I did not go to the Wednesday night dinner at the Church last night as just didn't feel like getting out.  Scott came out and took his mother to dinner and brought me home a meal.  He came back out this morning and has taken his mother to Costco to get a few things.  I slept in this morning and am not moving very quickly.  I didn't feel up to going to coffee this morning either.

I am not going to try to comment to everyone today as just don't feel up to it.  However I am reading all of the postings.

Our minister went to Mayo's yesterday and hit another snag.  They showed that his insurance had turned down the surgery.  He had to call back here to have a member of our Church get into his home and find the piece of paper showing the surgery had been approved.  Just what he and his wife needed was more stress.  Fortunately it appears to be straightened our and the surgery is taking place today.  He expects to be home on Saturday.

Larry, you know we all worry about each other and dread having anyone being "down". Do you think your feeling bad has anything to do with barometric pressure?  My doctor kind of rolls his eyes when I ask questions like this, talks me out of it & I go out feeling better. BUT, I still say that I can tell when pressure changes (sometimes feeling like an elephant sitting on my chest). Seriously, it's hard to find a doctor that really shows interest in the whole being, kind of get the feeling..."not my department".... (like the anti big box commercial).
Hope tomorrow is better. Sorry your pastor got caught in the "medical crossfire".

My son is still getting bills from all the different doctors, hospitals & various medical procedures ...and his co-pay is awful. At least there is a lid on his pay out (he thinks). He was in ICU for a week pumping antibiotics into him along with running every test in the book before surgery... another week after the surgery plus daily infusions for a couple months. He gets stressed when he can't access results of tests online & questions every expense. Not good to mess with the mind of an engineer, they want all the facts! He is being careful about not getting on rides that have a safety harness over his incision, but says he is having a ball. Those grandkids are as crazy about him as he is them. Good medicine.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Phyll & Sandy. This was the strangest one so far, kids were so concerned I was "alone". Sometimes alone is appreciated, true?

Sandy, you amaze me with taking on NEW projects. I'm having trouble getting my landline of 30 years straightened out. Right now if I am on the phone & someone calls, it goes directly to voice mail. My daughter set up the voice mail last time she was here because she thought it a shame every time she called & I was on the phone & a voice said, "this party has not set up voice mail". Well, fine & dandy, but IT won't let me retrieve the messages. I've tried everything. When the last person finally got NOMOROBO set up they had to go into Cas' e-mail (gave it a new password) to make changes & the system is still not in MY name! Going on 6 years. I don't want to close that mailbox because it is tied to Amazon, 23 & Me & most of the other business stuff I do online. Thank goodness I don't do banking online!  Good luck with the new phone system, sounds like a good price. The last tracfone I bought is the iPhone with triple minutes. Since I've been rolling minutes over for about 30 years, I have gobs for text, phone & whatever the other part is called (checking weather, shopping, etc). This is the first time I've kept it on for days while at home.

Gloria, better make sure you have plenty of batteries for flashlights & radios, my oldest Sony Walkman only uses one AA... but a newer one uses 2. I keep stocked up from the Dollar Tree. I've been using theirs for years & find they have been holding up every bit as good as the "main" name brand ones. I bought me a head light after seeing the boys use them out camping, the batteries in them last longer than I thought but I did order another from Amazon that also has a solar charge battery in it. I watch the "lightning" sales.   I am on my daughter's Prime account... she said she can have up to 5. I can't get the free movies like she does but I don't watch movies on my computer anyway, but sure like the free 2 day shipping. I make a point to only buy Prime.

About time for the chickens to come out of the oven at Sam's Club so better head that way. I used the last yesterday & know it just came out when I got it, but it smelled icky when I was cutting it up for the cats. They are getting too spoiled for their own good...(and nobody to blame but moi  :-[  ).

Sandy, I have had Internet telephone with Spectrum for several years and have always been satisfied with it.  I think you will like it and unlimited calling IS very nice.  Just one word of caution...be sure to keep your cell phone charged because if you have the electric power go out you will lose your Internet phone.  That has happened to me only 1 or 2 times in all the years I have had Spectrum phone.

Larry, I hope you will be feeling better later today and for all the days to come.

Good evening everyone...

Thanks for all the good advice ...   My landline
from Spectrum is not going to be my main phone.   I
use my smart phone for most everything,  now...

The new land line could verywell in the future
become my only phone.     I was lost having only
one phone to depend on (my cell)   so now I have two
working ones.    And the people closest to me will have
both phone numbers  so we can check up on one another.

My smart phone sits right here at my desk plugged in
and ready to use 24/7...     I feel much more secure
with two phones lines working,  now.

LLOYD, I am sorry to say this but I am sad that you and Nancy are already back home.  I was hopeful you could stay down south and enjoy the warmer weather.

LARRY, I am sorry to read about the mess the minister had with Mayo and his insurance issue.  Sure glad it was straightened out and he can proceed.  You are right, he and his wife sure did not need this stress.  I do hope the surgery went well and he is on his way to a full recovery.  I am concerned about you, and do hope that you can just take it easy and let your body rest up so you can return to your normal schedule.

SHIRLEY, I hope you managed to get a freshly cooked chicken so those kitties do not have to do without.😜

Our Baby Jonah is already 6 weeks old today.  My goodness the time sure does pass quickly.  I sure would love to be able to head out to California and get a hold of that little guy and hug, hug and hug him❣️

I hope EVERYFRIEND is sleeping well tonight....pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone, no snow in this area yet but there is some light snow in the southern part of this state. Supposed to turn to rain and that will freeze. 21° now but at least out of the teens to start the day. Yesterday it was nice outside, not windy and a beautiful clear blue sky. The calm before the storm?  I was dressed warm and sat on the porch in the sun for about an hour.

LARRY  hope you feel much better today.

SHIRLEY  I agree with you about feeling the change in the barometric changes. People thought I was crazy when I mentioned it. I don't feel it much since I moved here. I agree, some days I like being alone and doing just what I want. I like my CNA but enjoy weekends without her.  She treats me like I am her mother, always worrying about my eating and things like that.

GLORIA de  just heard the weekend will be very windy, too. Winds more than 40mph. Sure hope we don't lose power. I would hate being stuck up here on the third floor. I might be able to get down the stairs but without my rollator I would not be able to go anywhere.

LLOYD  with my Cox carrier I can use my landline to call all the states free and even Mexico. Don't know anyone there, would rather have the free calls to Canada.

JENNY  a lady here takes care of her great grandson a couple of days a week and we all get out baby fix when he is here. He is 7 months old and way to smart. Always smiling with all the attention he gets.

AMY  you can keep your snow for now.

JANE no snow here yet.

Have a good day.

No snow here but can hear wind blowing. Got a text from Andy with photos of "out the window" looking at the beach plus a couple cute little red heads being snuggled by "Nana". They are done with Disney & have a couple days on the beach, this gr-daughter certainly knows how to plan a trip! The view shows a long pier & ocean right there.

Lloyd, since my husband did all the driving when we traveled, I will tell you that it is NOt as much fun to just keep on the road. I'm with her about staying in the same place a few days to get out & just mosey around!  Cas liked to just drive all day, eat & sleep & hit the road again. I wasn't as interested in "tourist" type sights but just living the day. Most of our travels were before computers so I would send off for brochures of places we would be near. Slow down, my friend, stop & smell the roses! End of lecture...... ;)

We are hearing about "waves of winter"... maybe even snow tonight or tomorrow... so will get back out for the things I didn't get yesterday. It is a relief to look out the window & know that tree can't fall on my house if ice & wind hit, but sure hate to have a tree cut down when it isn't dead. Maybe I didn't explain my rush to get home yesterday. Had a crew cutting & trimming trees in the neighborhood ... been seeing a lot of that work done lately since ice & wind are wicked for pulling down power lines when tree limbs break off. Anyway, I backed out & put the window down to talk to one of the men, asked what he would charge to take that tree down. Answer was, "$100 if we do it today while the equipment is here but about $175 later". So I shook his hand & said I'd be back soon ... had to wait on the chicken a little while to get fresh out of the oven, but by the time I got home the tree was gone, cleaned up. They said they will bring me firewood FREE any time I want it. I was kind of relieved they didn't leave it right then because I can't get to my wagon to haul it. I'm too short to use my husband's wheelbarrow & I'm sure it has a flat tire anyway. Anyway, I didn't take time to stop to shop for a snow shovel or other stuff so back out today. I really would like to have snow but not sure it will be as much fun as other years.

Gloria, my daughter said she opened her house yesterday & "aired it out". About half an hour later someone on the radio was saying when we get a warm spell to do that.... just like my mother used to say/do. She would even take bedding off to get fresh air to the mattresses. With the wind I'm hearing this morning I'm afraid it would suck everything out the windows! Goodness, it is noisy out there, starting to get light. Cats waiting for breakfast.

Good Friday Morning.

We had some snow overnight and most of the schools are on a 2 hr. delay opening.  It is supposed to be a cloudy day.  However, the bigger snow storm is expected later tomorrow into Sunday morning.  Ours might turn into rain, possibly.

This is the same storm which will bringing larger amounts to Gloria's area.  Our weather person is saying they can expect about a foot or more.

I missed getting here yesterday. Just got busy, and before you knew it, it was evening.  I did play cards last night, and it turned into a longer game than usual.  Did not get back to my apt. until almost 9 p.m.

Lloyd, I am so disappointed that you are heading home already.  I thought you were looking forward to spending time in the warm weather. Did you ever get to Tampa?  Sorry that Nancy isn't a happy camper.  That is too bad.  Hardly seems worth all the trouble  to get ready, just to stay a short time.

Larry, do hope that you are feeling better this morning.  I know how you feel when you don't have any energy. I am starting to feel a little more energized.  But, with the terrible, cold weather, it does tend to make me just want to stay under an afghan. At least, you don't have the cold weather to deal with.

I see where Amy is having snow to deal with this morning.

Jane, do hope you will have a good day. Hope you don't get much of the snow storm that is heading east.

I don't have much planned for today, except the normal straightening up. I do plan to read some today.  Reading a good book now.

Hope everyone will have a good day.  For those in the paths of the snow,  please stay safe and warm.

Joy

Well, the snow has been shoveled both Kyle and I removed it from the driveway. Not enough for the snow blower and it was light fluffy snow. We went in and picked up his blister pack of meds and came home.
Have you ever tried to sweep a floor with a pup?? I had forgotten how mesmerized they are with brooms/mops!! Did manage to get that done and I clipped this little lads nails too!!
Still have to get the cupboard cleaned as that job was put aside for washing the floors.

Better go get lunch on the go.

good day....

I have a real mess with my email(s) so have been working on them for hours!

LLOYD, it appears I made a mistake by thinking you were already home!  Truth is, I have no idea where you are, but no matter what, it appears you ARE headed home.  I feel badly for Nancy, if she is not comfortable traveling there is not much you can do about it.  I know many that have done what you are doing and some love it and some hate it.  Some have sold their homes and hit the road only to find ypthey are not happy and now they are in the process of getting a new home and selling the motor home.  I think I would like very much to hit the road, but Bob seems to think it is not a good idea.....so can you just go home and then we can try out the motor home and see? Hahaha. I went back and read your post that what I thought you said, you were AT HOME.  I guess you were commenting that you have phone service AT HOME, not that you are there! SORRY!

SHIRLEY, sure happy to read tha5 Andy and Family are all having such a great time in Florida.  Sounds like you made a very wise choice to have the tree taken out right away!

We have snow and cold again today....the weather guessers said we would not have much if any here, but I can assure you they are wrong....we have a LOT on the ground and it is not done!

I am concerned....no post from our LARRY today??  That can not be good.  I sure hope he is OK!

GLORIA, how nice you have the visiting little guy for you all to get your baby fix!  That is nice.

Too many interruptions, so I am going to post this before I loose it...

Have a great da6 EVERYFRIEND.

Gloria we had about an inch of snow when I got up. I guess Sunday is the day to watch out for.  I don't know what I will do if we lose power

Lloyd, I am sorry you did not stay in Fla. longer

Larry we are missing you.

I hope the weather guessers are wrong in predicting such a load of snow.  One year, in Fort Collins, CO - we were out of town when a huge storm hit.  I went to the grocery store and - I am not kidding - there was only a couple of cans of something non-food left on the counters.  It had to be a wild scene.  Fortunately, I had some food in the house;  We were glad to miss the wild shopping day.

The mountains need more snow and this storm looks like it isn't going to cooperate.

Hi Everyfriend!  There's a lot going on here that's taking my attention.  Time on the phone...thinking...trying to work through some things. Snow is comin tomorrow.  It's supposed to start around noon and last through Sunday.  That should get my mind off other things.  I'll have to be out shoveling...an area for the doggies and the front sidewalk.  My neighbor will probably do my driveway.  He always does and I don't have to go anywhere until Monday at 10 a.m.

Dogs are asking to go out.  Stay warm and dry!

Shirely, You youngster !!!!!! I was out kicking up my heels at age 84. Now at 94, I can still do a slow waltz or a bit of a hip wiggle, so enjoy these next 10 years to the fullest little girl. You have so much to offer.

Amy, when my doggies were youngsters they would be shoving me out of the way to see what those lower shelves contained. Have fun girl.

Sandy, Hi back attcha girl. I really like my cell phone...it has a lot of stuff I never use,but it's what my son chose for me. Gary is my brain now. and I have two house phones. One by my bed and another that is portable, but it only works inside the building. Then there is the life line hanging around my neck. It even showers with me. I am covered.

Larry, dear friend, I am sorry that you are not in perfect condition health wise. Join me in that category Buddy.I can't seem to reach a day when I feel great. This second bout of pneumonia had really none a number on me, and the new antibiotics don't seem to do any healing. Very weak and tired.  I can't complain though, I have lived life thoroughly and I am grateful for what I have now.

Time to go fix a bite of supper...no appetite, be we have to eat. I have really enjoy my visit with you all. Keep well and happy, God Bless us all with health and Peace. I love you. June

Jane, I hope you don't get a lot of snow!

June, you sound more like yourself now. Hope that means you are feeling better.

Carol, this little bundle of joy had me up at 11 last night and 5 this morning ...but we are having fun with him. He doesn't back away from anything!

Good morning, Amy and all who follow.

I, too am hoping we hear from Larry sometime today.  He is greatly missed.  Sure hope it will be a better day for him.

Amy,  After a predicted icy night, I think we might luck out tomorrow with just rain.

My son is coming this morning to do a couple little chores for me.  And, then, hopefully, I will get some laundry done, also.  Have been putting it off too long. Running out of clothes. LOL

Hope everyone will have a great day and stay warm and dry, if you happen to be in one of those kind of areas.

Good morning everyone, boy according to the weather guessers we are in for quite  a storm starting after sunset today. Snow wind sleet freezing rain and then plain rain and that means ICE. Coastal flooding included along the shore. With the winds it is to ‪ -12°, yes that is minus 12°. First we were to get snow starting Thursday night now it will start about 6pm tonight. JOAN was so right when she started calling the forecasters weather guessers.

SHIRLEY I had one nephew who was great for traveling, like to go off the beaten path to look around and my SIL is great, too, he will stop often to take in the sights and get out and move around. I used to open a window on 2 sides of the house to air it out for about 10 minutes or so in the winter. Would be great getting some fresh air in. Here if the manager sees a window open even an inch a tenant is in trouble.

JOY  I will believe this storm when it gets here. With the freezing rain in the mix I just hope we don't lose power.

AMY  glad I no longer have to worry about clearing snow away. At least the maintenance man has a little sidewalk plow he can sit in and he also has a snow blower. He is off work on weekends but when it snows he is here clearing snow every hour even during the night.

JENNY  after the weather guessers being wrong most of the time I rather look out the windows and see what it is like outside.

GLORIA  de  the thought of losing power and the thought of the elevator not running is the only thing that gets me. There is another lady here on this floor who has to use a rollator and I am not alone.

CAROL  I don't mind just snow but the sleet and freezing rain and the ice that results is what bothers me. The only snow here so far was back in mid November. We have had way too much rain.

JANE  storm supposed to start here about 6pm and last for 24 hours.

JUNE  like you I have no appetite anymore and I cannot afford to lose anymore weight. Remember Lillias who was in the Nest and lived in Ca? She had asked her doctor for something for her appetite and the weight she was losing. He prescribed something, had an odd name. She said after that she was eating everything. When Mare was in the hospital she lost 75 pounds and had no appetite and she asked Lillias what her doctor prescribed abd then Mare asked he doctor about it  and she got her appetite back. Wish I could remember what the name was.

AMY  I live in the part of the state that always seems to get the most snow.

I also miss Larry's posts. I pray he is feeling better every day and will be back with us soon.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  We are to have a cloudy but very warm day getting up to 70 degrees this afternoon.  I am sorry I wasn't up to posting yesterday.  I decided yesterday morning it was time to go to our prompt care to see if my sodium had gotten too low and try to get something to deal with this sinus and headache.  The nurse practitioner, which is what you see at the prompt care facilities came in and told me I needed to go to the ER as they didn't have the facilities to do the lab work needed there.  I came home and Pat took me to the ER where I spent about 4 hours.  The test ruled out low sodium as the cause for my exhaustion, the chest x-ray was OK.  He gave me a prescription for an antibiotic for the sinus.  He asked me if I wanted him to admit me to the hospital and I said no.  I will contact my cardiologist next week and try to get in to see him before the appointment I have set up for mid-February.  I will read all the postings here so I can keep up with what is going on but just don't feel up to making comments today as just don't have the energy.

Please take care and rest as much as necessary.

This cold winter is really hard on old bones.
Israel is having an unusually severe one this year.  I long for summer already.

I didn't get a chance to post this morning because Cathy was going to the Amish store early to escape the snow.  We're back and we got the bargains and it's all put away .

The snow is supposed to start around noon.  I'm hoping it's not heavy enough to knock out any services.

I hope you all stay safe and warm.  Prayers all around for health, light snow, warmth, and the love of family and friends.

Good Morning.

Larry, a short post is better than none.  :)  Sinus infections can really wear a person down and I hope the antibiotic "does the trick".

No wonder the weather forecasts for the weekend changed daily this week. Last night, we had thunder, rain and hail.  In the middle of the night (according to the t.v. 'cause I sure didn't see it  ), there was snow blowing sideways.  This morning, the temperatures are in the 20's, wind is gusting to 40-50 mph and the wind chill is in single digits.

I was planning to go to one of the local country clubs for the Sesquicentennial celebration of an organization I belong to (P.E.O.)  - until I remembered my history of getting bronchitis if I'm out in the wind - particularly if it's cold or wet.
So I'm staying home and pretending my "Lean Cuisine" is "Luncheon Cuisine".

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.  Stay warm!

We have sunshine this morning, but it is ❄️❄️❄️ and will not get that warm today, and more snow is on the way!  GLORIA, I agree with you, the best way to see what the weather will be is to wait it out and look out the window!

SO happy to see your post, LARRY.  As AMY said, "you have been running on empty for quite some time" and you just have to rest and let your body recover.  I am sorry that yesterday was a taxing day for you, but I pray that the antibiotics will do their thing on you and you can start to feel much better.

YIPPEE, JANE, you got to go shop at the Amish store today!

Our Boston Family are skiing at Sugarbush Resort in Warren Vermont this weekend and I do hope the weather will not be a problem for them.  When reading about it I see the highest peak, Lincoln is 4083 feet.....it is not even as high as Denver at 5280!

AMY, I am glad your little bundle of joy is bring you happiness!  Puppies can be a lot of work, but the pay out is wonderful.  Now I have forgotten what his name is?

CALLIE, I think it is the best choice for you to stay home today and dine on Luncheon Cousine!

JOY, happy for you that your son is coming today and will help you with a few tasks.

Wonder where LLOYD and Nancy are today?

I wish you all a pleasant day.

Oh !  Good to see Larry posting, even tho it was a short message.  Sorry that you had to spend time in the ER, but hopefully, the antibiotic will make you feel lots better.  Just good to see your message.

Yes, my son came and took care of a few chores. Then, he stayed a little while and talked.  He talked about going to a seafood restaurant down on the Eastern shore in a couple weeks and wanted to know if I would want to go.  It is about a 2 1/2 hour ride, but I don't have any problems with that.  I like to ride and look at all the scenery. Won't be as nice as going in the summertime, but any chance to go out to get seafood, I am ready.  We have a friend who is in a nursing home on the way, so we will stop there and see her on the way.  If the weather is nice, even tho being cold, it should be a nice day.  Will have to check weather report when the time comes.

Need to get some lunch. Just wanted to welcome Larry back.  Hope you will feel better.

Joy

WOW! All of a sudden the sun is trying to "glow" through the clouds & my eyes can't cope with the bright snow on the ground. Those wind gusts will keep the temps low & feels like worse. I know I will be wearing a knit scarf around my face/mouth & nose when I do get out. Like you, Callie, I've spent a lifetime fighting bronchitis. Thought of you yesterday afternoon when I went to Brahm's for their combo... they do make a great cheeseburger & fries were good to the last bite, and that strawberry shake was delicious! I didn't look at the calory count.

Larry, glad you are up to any post... repeating everyone else, just a line or two to let us know you are okay.  With all the years Cas suffered with congestive heart failure, I never heard him say anything about being checked for sodium level being LOW. I know he took iodine pills because he/we tried to keep the "salt free" diets. His doctor was realistic about the "salt free" & often told him that just pushing aside the salt shaker was enough, but nothing tastes good without some salt. I always buy the idoized salt but never know what comes in food cooked by others. Anyway, I'm always comparing your conditions & treatment to what Cas got here.  Hope you feel better fast and out & about. How is your pastor doing?

Sandy, got that phone working? I checked on buying tracfone minutes & the year usage but not getting the answers I want about the "triple minutes" I paid for when buying the iPhone. I don't like being jerked around & so far have not found a person to get the bottom line facts from.

Gloria, have you Googled for appetite booster to see if anything rings a bell?  I remember back when I was in high school & wanted to gain weight I found a product called "Wate-On"... to put in milk or malts. Since I didn't drink milk it didn't get used much. I rarely drank Cokes but ordered chocolate malts instead. Since my Fitbit tells me I am "in cardio zone" all of the time, why I burn off the calories like I do. Way I'm built, but do think "lack of doing" lately will put pounds on where I sure don't want them.

Joy, what is it with getting the laundry done?  I'm dragging my feet & waiting until MUST DO to get it any done. Today it is my bedding.  :P

Jane, great that you got to the Amish store early. We have a store "on my beaten path" that is supposed to be Amish but nothing like what you find. The prices are outrageous & I had a couple bad experiences with their meat so haven't been back for quite a while. I've heard the store near the Amish community NW of Wichita is the "real" thing, but don't get there.

Better get moving. Don't think that sun will melt the driveway (where it shines) & know the part near the garages won't ever melt... so somebody has got to push it to get the car out of the garage. Cats have opted NOT to go outside so far, they aren't any help anyway.

Oops, you popped in, Jenn. I'd love to have those low elevations to ski, have looked at the ski run near KC but think it is basically "man made" snow & so expensive for someone like me to learn on. But, I'd still like to try. I was also wondering where Lloyd & Nancy are today, so sorry they didn't plan out their route & places to stay so they could have enjoyed more. Afraid that was how we traveled & Cas was always happy to get back home. I used to argue that "it takes the same amount of gas whether we drive it in 4 days or 4 weeks"...but he just liked to drive. Andy said last night that his "grands found lots of shells & even though they think they got the critters out, they are sitting outside on the deck!"

Forgot to mention, Callie, I got up in the middle of the night to a sort of crash... looked around but couldn't find a reason for the noise. It woke up cats so not my imagination. We had a 4. earthquake the night before so maybe another?

Joy, Andy said last night all the others enjoyed seafood, he's allergic to shell fish so had chicken. I like shrimp cocktail when on the coast, but not what I get here. Actually could just put the cocktail sauce on my finger & lick off & be satisfied.  ;)

Good afternoon, waiting for the storm they keep warning us about.

First, I had come into this post to check on larry, and he made my day, by seeing the message he wrote. I only wished he felt better, but at least he has been checked Prays Larry that you feel better soon, we all worry about our family.

Shirley, my Dennis had bronchitis from the time he was a baby.  We made many a tent over his crib and keep steam going.

Joy, yes it is good to get out, and get a change of scenery. that's why I like to walk up and don the isles in the grocery store. Of course I am using my push mobile, at lest I am getting exercise, but I can set once in a while.  2 hours would really be a trip for me now days

It's snowing here and is supposed to continue through the night.  So far there's about an inch.

CALLIE, I had a long phone chat with my daughter who was on her way to Tulsa to get her "baby fix".  I never thought she might be driving in snow until I read your message.  I texted her to ask her.  She said there was snow on the ground but the roads were clear.  I think she would have ben east of OKC but it made me nervous for her.  She's been in Texas long enough that she is no longer used to driving in snow.  She'll let me know when she's safely back in Dallas.

I was happy to see LARRY's post, too.  And happy to see that he's getting some help.

Not much happening here!  Take care of all my frends...yourselves!

Good Evening Everyone from the soon to
be snowbound rocky coast of Maine.

Spectrum came and installed my phone.
The phone I got from Amazon is on its way
back.  It was not working correctly,
so I dug out an older Pansonic land line
phone and it is working very nicely.

I will use it until I can come up with
another land line phone that I can use
that will  be easier to use for vision
impaired people like myself.

I JUST  want a landline where I can
push one button to call my kids and
close friends.

I might even be able to make this older
pansonic do what I would like my
new one to do.

So I shipped the new phone back,
and I am very happy with the land line
working with my old phone.

A huge storm is headed in my
direction with snow and possibly lots
of ice...   A good time for me to stay home
and watch the cars slipping and sliding down
the main street out side my Windows to
the world.

Have a nice evening Everyone...

Sandy

Janie,  Do you remember how far we drove to meet others for lunch when you were here?  That was near Tulsa.
I think the only measurable snow was along the northern border and, maybe, way out northwest.  Just brrrr cold now.  Sun came out this afternoon and it's supposed to be nice tomorrow. She'll be fine.

Shirley, I'm not crazy about Braum's French fries (actually - not crazy about anybody's French fries since they all "went healthy") but like their burgers. I like Braum's chicken tenders with gravy. If I could eat raw veggies, I'd get their Strawberry Chicken Salad.  Quite a few people think their chili is good, too.

Sandy,  I still have a phone that plugs into a wall jack.  When the weather is such that we might have a power outage,  I plug it in because I remember a couple of times when the closest cell phone tower was damaged.  Comforting to know I can make/get calls if everything else fails.

The cold wasn't too bad when I went to get the mail but I was in the car.  Wouldn't want to be walking in it for very long.

There were seven red cardinals at the feeder at the same time today!  Also saw sparrows, chickadees, titmice, juncos and a Carolina wren.  Had just refilled the sunflower seed feeder and will probably have to do it again tomorrow.

Report was that the luncheon went well and attendance was "good" (whatever that means).  However, I had phone calls from a few people I expected would go - and they hadn't.

I spent the day on the computer and watching t.v. shows I'd recorded.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Good morning everyone..

There is an extreme weather warning out, the temp is -10 ° but with the high winds is making the wind chill temp - 23°F. We are going to leave the snow right where it is till the winds die down.

Other than removing snow today not much else is on the plate.A day of rest here.

Carol, his name is Jesse..we met the breeders at a Tim Hortons and I joked that we should call him Tim Bit but hubby had the name already picked out for him.

Jane, no matter how old our children are we will always worry about them.

Sandy, we have CNIB here for the blind and they help in getting aids for those that need eg phones. Do you have something like that you could go through for a phone with larger numbers on it? I believe we all should have a landline, when power goes out so do the portable phones, not sure about cell phones though.

Larry, hope you have a restful day today.

Joy, enjoy your trip and the seafood!!

Gloria, it is darn cold here.....not just a tad but darn cold. I hope the wind dies down some before I do snow blow the driveway and a run for our dogs. I have a down coat that is toasty warm and rawhide mitts that keep my hands warm.....come to think about it I also have electric hand warmers on the snow blower.....yay!!

Better go get the day started.

Enjoy your day ,stay warm and safe everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We were up early and the doggies have had their pill and breakfast.  I had breakfast, too and I'm on my second cup of coffee.

The snow has already changed to rain.  My road has been plowed and my neighbor has cleared my driveway.  I thought I heard the plow on the road earlier but it was Steve, doing my driveway

I've decided to stay off the roads today.  I asked my Father if he would mind if I missed church today and I'm sure He told me He'd rather I'd be safe.

I have some forms to fill out and some bookkeeping to do and maybe a pie to bake.  I suppose I better go out and start the car.  It's been sitting idle since Friday afternoon.

Stay in.  Stay warm.  Stay safe!

Good morning.  Just marking my place for now.

Good morning, Amy.  Our area is expecting that big plunge in temperature later today.  I do plan on staying in and keeping warm.  Already have pushed the thermostat up a little bit.  I have had breakfast, so planning on reading for a little while until I decide what to do the rest of the day.  I did do 2 loads of laundry yesterday and still have a couple small loads to do.  Not sure if I will get to them today or not.  Nothing I have to had immediately.

Hope everyone will stay warm and close to home.

Have a pleasant day.

Joy

We had a bit of light rain sometime during the night but the sun is shining right now. So nice to see.  The cold is supposed to hit us this afternoon and Mon. will keep the temps. in the 20's.  Along with the cold will come wind and with all of our tall trees that concerns me more than cold temps.

I cooked up a big pot of Navy Bean soup yesterday.  I always like to have a BIG bowl of soup when the weather turns cold.  I didn't have any chopped ham, or ham hocks, in the freezer so used medium hot Italian sausage instead.  Delicious and it will clear your sinuses for sure!  Wish I could send some to Larry to help clear his sinuses.

I hope you are feeling better today, Larry.  I have had many sinus infections and they can just make you so tired and feel terrible.  I hope it is much better and will get even more so quickly.

Reading and maybe a little TV today and a warm woolen lap robe is my plan.

Take care in the snow and especially in the extreme cold, Everyone.  I checked the weather in Warrenton, VA, where my younger son and family live.  It looks as though they escaped ice and snow but are having very cold temps.

Sandy, we have CNIB here for the blind and they help in getting aids for those that need eg phones. Do you have something like that you could go through for a phone with larger numbers on it? I believe we all should have a landline, when power goes out so do the portable phones, not sure about cell phones though.

I am very fortunate here in Portland to have
the Iris Network    https://www.theiris.org/

So I can check with them to see what they
have available for low vision telephones.
(for future use,  in case I need one) ...

I feel so fortunate to live in the city

I got up about 2:30, just couldn't sleep. Had breakfast but fed cats first, then Tom & Callie wanted to check outside, one in front & other in back. Kept an eye on the doors because I knew it wouldn't take them long to get back in. I checked the ice on the driveway, even tried to dig the corner of the chipper into the ice to see if the "ice melt" had done any good overnight. It was as hard as before I put it on. Don't dare back the car out since the weight might let it slide right into the RV. The sun is shining but the worst of the ice never gets the sun, house faces north & garage wraps around the east end. Hopefully it will heat the concrete enough to warm that other part so I can dig off to get a little traction. Sure hate we are sending the whole mess east, along with the wind.

Phyll, got to tell you about using "ham shanks" instead of hocks... my young butcher talked me into trying & I can't believe the difference. None of that really fat-fat & skin, much more of the lean ham to eat & get the same flavors. I had never even noticed there were 2 kinds, same packaging & brand, but I certainly do check now! I add a chopped up clove of garlic to my beans now (thanks to a friend's recommendation). I don't know if my mother did or not, we didn't eat a lot of beans growing up. I do love that Italian sausage, your meal sounds delicious to me. Maybe a skillet of fried potatoes with it? I learned to like my beans on a plate like my MIL served, and she always made a big bowl of coleslaw to go with them, and her melt in your mouth biscuits. Yum, my mouth is watering.

Wonder where Lloyd & Nancy are this morning. I had a call from my crew that they were on the plane & ready to head home, that the TSA people were gracious about working without pay, no delays so far.

Callie, I love French fries, any & all, but my fav are from Spangles, if you have any of those places. They have some kind of coating, doesn't change the flavor, but they do have choices of other coatings. They are local but like with Braums, have spread out a little.

Guess I'd better get moving. If I can break that ice loose I'll go to church later. My church has a late Mass at 11:00am but the one I used to go to (about a mile south of the new one) has one at 1:00 pm. I'll work on it but like you, Janie, I believe God knows & understands.

Sandy, my brain does a flip when you mention Portland.. know you are back east but think it was you that spent time on the west coast in or near Portland? Between you & Bobbi I really enjoyed your ventures.

Hi Everyone.  Our morning starts out clear and sunny but it is suppose to be cloudy most of the day.  We are to get to the low 50's today, which I know sounds good to many of you dealing with very cold and unpleasant weather.  I had a rough day yesterday and spent a good part of it either in bed or laying back in my easy chair.  Around 8 pm last evening I suddenly realized I was feeling better than I have for several days and I was able to get a good nights sleep.  I have done a couple of things this morning that have pretty well used up my energy, at least for now.  I do appreciate your concern and welcome your prayers and kind thoughts.  I am still not up to trying to go to Church this morning.  I forgot to write yesterday that our ministers surgery was a success and I am sure he is now home and I know he has a meeting planned this afternoon with the new leadership of the Church for this coming year.

I can't think of anything to write to all of the comments that has not already pretty well be said by others.  So am just going to make this brief again this morning.  I may be late posting tomorrow as have someone coming to the house at 9 am to work with me for an hour or so.

Great to see you check in, Larry. God Bless & watch over you. Glad to read your minister's surgery went well. We will try to keep the ball rolling until you feel like talking more.

Now to hear from Lloyd, am concerned about them & hope they didn't try to drive home without stopping. Not traveling weather in MO!

Good morning everyone. Noisy night here between the maintenance man hand his plow and the plow for the parking lot and then moving the cars very early this morning. Finally got to get sleep about  4:30 this morning. Not too much snow about 2 or 3 inches but now it looks like rain. At 29° must be freezing rain. Watched a few cars going by and they look like they are going very slow. Supposed to have a flash freeze later and everything wet will freeze. Glad my younger son has the day off tomorrow because of MLK day. Looks like the whole area will be ice in the morning. So far it  does not loo‌k windy. Just heard on the news there was a tornado near Montgomery, Alabama. Showed a lot of destruction.

LARRY  good seeing your post from yesterday. Glad you went to get help. Take care of yourself, that is what is important to us.

BUBBLE  sorry it is so cold there this winter. Between the cold and the dampness I sure know what you mean about it getting into the old bones. I have turned the heat up and still do not feel warm enough. Time to get the geemagotchees on I guess.

JANE  snow was supposed to start at 4 yesterday but started at 6.

AMY  you said it all to Larry. Just a HI is enough.

CALLIE  glad you decided to stay home yesterday. Better that going out and suffering later.

JENNY  we do not know much more about what the weather will be now from all the weather guessers and all their expensive equipment than from the Old Farmer's Almanac or 100 years ago with just having to wait and see. The highest peak in New England states is Mount Washington in New Hampshire, I cannot remember ho high it is.

SHIRLEY  right now I do not count calories, just cannot get enough of them. Anyone know anything to give me an appetite?

GLORIA de  I would like to get into a market and look around for things that might tempt me. Of all things I used to enjoy was going food shopping, always wanted to feed my family healthy food and I used to do a lot of cooking and baking.

SANDY  I still have an old Princess dial phone. When I moved here my grandson wanted to throw it away but I kept it. An antique now.

AMY  I was just looking outside and so far does not look windy, at least none of the trees are moving their branches, still calm, I am so glad I do not have to go out. Later it will be feeling like well below zero when the flash freeze the weather people are talking about.

PHYLLIS  I have a bag of 15 beans with a packet of seasoning in it for soup.. It is delicious, I would make it today but no room in the freezer for left overs. I  will take chicken stock out of the freezer and either make a stew or soup. Good day for it.

LARRY  so good you had a better sleep last night. a good sleep can do wonders for all of us. Continue to take it easy.

Have a good day and all in the storm path stay in and keep warm.

My goodness, there is no let up on the wind!!! Normally the wood stove heats this place ,sometimes too much but today the oil is kicking in the odd time.
Snow blowing is done and the trails I did for the dogs are partially drifted back in again.  Will do them tomorrow after we get back from the city.

Jane, David is having fun with the Instant Pot. he did 24 eggs in 8 min and peeled them all a job he is not too fond of when they are boiled.

Jessie, is asleep on my foot at the moment.

Sorry about the winter storms affecting so many of you - I hope you can stay indoors and not walk or travel.

It is 75* F in Tucson today and there will be a lunar eclipse to watch/.  This odd high temperature is only one day then cools off soon.  So nice to air out the house.

Amy:  One son's dog is named Jesse too.  The poor little thing was not taken care of by the first owners and son and DIL had to spend a small fortunate getting her back to good health.  She is easy for us to dog-sit.  Enjoy.

Larry:  Nice news that you are recuperating from the hospital ordeal.  I think blood pressure goes up just looking at the white coats surrounding you.

Hello!  I finished some of the financial stuff including some papers that I need for my taxes.  When I give the tax stuff to my son to do, I tell him I need the return in time to pay my property taxes this year.  He usually manages to get it done in time.  It doesn't take him long to do mine...it's the getting to them that takes time.  He still does taxes for some of his friends who have small, one person businesses and he never charges them.  But I'm always last...I think.  At least that's what I tell him.

I also have the pie in the oven.  It's a new recipe and I hope it's good because I'm planning to deliver one to my neighbor who cleans my driveway and my walks.  He's a good guy and he works hard.  That snow was heavy and he was shoveling in the rain today.  He didn't want the leftover slush to freeze when the temps go down.  My dogs are already walking on top of the frozen snow in the yard.

Guess I better go take the pies out of the oven and feed the doggies and scrounge up some supper for me.  If the freeze comes, I probably won't have TV tonight.  The satellite dish doesn't like any interference.  I'm glad I'm not addicted to any shows.

Keep warm.  Keep safe.  Stay in if you have a choice.

I keep checking in to see if Lloyd & Nancy have reported in. I'm starting to worry about them, for real.[/b]

Jane, my little antennas don't like this wind, either, will get "no signal" notices now & then. Kind of reminds me of the old days when all we had was an antenna on top of the house. I am going to shop for a DVD player, not recorder, to attach to the TV in my bedroom. My daughter sent me the 2 James Garner movies we talked about the other day. She had some I was going to borrow but instead she ordered more from Amazon & insisted that "I'd watch them over & over in the RV".... she is so right, but I have plenty others she's loaned me. ::) I have a recorder but it's strange, will hold many-many shows but I don't know if it will just play a regular DVD. My son insisted it was what I needed when I dumped the cable TV. (what do I know?) I am dreading taxes. I'm rambling.............need to order more Friskies for cats, too bad they don't count as dependents. I honestly think I'm spending more on them than I did when the kids were little, for sure they weren't as spoiled.

Special hugs for all. Hang in, Every Friend, it gets better in the spring.

Amy, this has been a better day than yesterday and yesterday was better than the day before, so I am very, very thankful to God....our Great Healer. What dod you name  your new four legged baby Amy ???

Gloria, I sure do remember Lillias and Mare. I miss them ! My Dr. will be here this week and we always get weighed and  have our vitals taken before we see her, so I will see if my loss of appetite had made any changes.

Larry, you are the only person I know besides myself that has a low sodium count. They recently canceled my second salt pill to one a day. I used to get four a day when this whole mess started out. Do post when you feel up to it my friend. Even a word or two is welcome. More prayers for you friend.

Bubbles, the States are having some bad weather too. Especially the No. East. We is So Ca. only worry about drying up, or earthquakes or fires...but that is enough.

I have read all your good messages and it is now past my supper time, so off I go to heat up my soup. See you all tomorrow, God Willing and the Creek don't rise. Hugs , Love, and Prayers.....always. June

JUNE, I have to tell you that you bring my MIL to mind often lately.  When she was planning some activity, she always ended with, "If the Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise>"  I miss her!  She was Italian, born here but her parents and her three oldest siblings were immigrants.  She could swear a blue streak in Italian and nobody knew what she was saying.  But one day she did that and her older sister was there.  Aunt Rosie threw up her hands and said, Jenny...followed by a string of Italian and you could tell by her tone it was a reprimand.  When we asked Aunt Rosie what she said her answer was "I can't repeat it and I don't think I could translate it either.

The pies turned out very good.  I'll definitely make them again!  Leftovers in the Hidey Hole.

I'm going to be off to bed soon.  It was pretty late last night and I need to be in working mode tomorrow.

Good Night Everyfriend!  Sleep well and wake refreshed and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, well it is morning. First time this winter we are -1° and wind chill feels like -17° below zero. The wind sure picked up overnight. I saw only 4 people go out here yesterday and that was to take their dogs out. They were walking very slow and careful. This is the first time the maintenance man did not spread ice melt on the walkways. That was a surprise. Hope he did not fall or hurt himself. All the New England yankees are happy that the Patriots won the game yesterday, just heard it on the news. Back to the stupid-oops-super bowl for them.

AMY  I hear my heat come on often and I hope we have enough oil to last us through this cold. Since today is a holiday I don't know if any business is working today. So Jessie kept one foot warm for you, I know cats are good at doing that.

CAROL  I sure will not even stick my nose out the door in this cold. 75° would feel wonderful right now.

JANE  what kind of pies did you bake? I sure would like to bake one but I would not be even able to take it out of the oven. The stove here is wide and I cannot reach over the door to pull a rack out.

SHIRLEY  when I pulled up the shades this morning I could see the bright moon. and it was almost like daylight .  Could feel the cold at the windows, too.

CALLIE  will be months before we see any daffodils peeking up here.

JUNE  Mare and I used to in touch but have not heard from her n years now. She did love talking on the phone and I never did. Call and say what I have to and hang up.

LARRY  hope you feel better today.

LLOYD  where are you now?

Good morning everyone..

Not a fit day for man nor beast out there!! High winds still prevail and the temp is -24°F. We are going to cancel the appointment in the city and remake it for a better day. Wind chill is -45° F.

Jane, do you put gasoline antifreeze in your gas tank? We do that every now and again in winter. Your pie was delicious, now what is It called?

June, each day is a blessing that we see. It might not be the day we wanted but it is a day. His name is Jesse, right now he is running in the livingroom.....stops to pounce on a squeaky toy and run again!! A lot of work but also a lot of joy and the joy wins out.

Gloria, I have heard of that soup and have been tempted to buy and try it. Everyone says it is delicious!!

Sandy, happy to read you have help close by.

Larry,  just take it easy till you see your Dr. Hope he comes up with answers to your problem.

I am also wondering about Lloyd and Nancy, maybe we will hear from him today?

Enjoy your day everyone..

ps. Good morning Gloria!! :)

Good early morning, Gloria. You are sure early this morning.

It is still very, very cold with the wind howling.  I have pushed the thermostat up, as the air duct is right over my head when I am on the computer.

Just a short message right now. I am waiting for it to get light out.  Tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't.  I will get something to eat and then, maybe will read for a while.  I will get my hair done early this afternoon.  Then, maybe get another load of laundry done.

Hope all of you who are experiencing this terrible cold spell will just stay in and be warm.

Hi Everyone.  We had a sunny day all day yesterday which was enjoyable.  I had wanted to go out mid-afternoon for our main meal but didn't feel up to doing so when I got up from resting.  So Pat fixed us each a hamburger, fresh spinach salad and applesauce.  I did watch both of the pro football playoff games, which turned out to be super games both going into overtime.  I am up early as couldn't go back to sleep after Pat came to bed around 2:30.  I have nothing planned for today as not feeling perky.

Once again I am going to be brief today and just check in.

Right now it is 18 deg. F. and it is cold!  At least the wind that blew all day yesterday seems to have stopped.  I wanted to view the Super Blood Wolf moon last night.  The sky was clear and the moon was shining brightly but I couldn't stay up long enough to see the eclipse at mid-night here in the East.  I just watched a video of it on the computer and it must have been beautiful but this old body decided sleep was more important.

Shirley, the soup was so good.  I think I'll use the Ital. sausage again but I want to try your ham shanks, too.  I made Johnnycake to go with it and for dessert we had small cheesecake squares that I had ordered from Schwan's.  Just right after filling up on hot soup.  BTW, I watched part of the game from KC.  My gosh, I can't believe how cold it was and was amazed that all of those thousands of people would sit in that cold stadium to watch a football game!  It was a good game, as Larry said.  Sorry the young KC quarterback couldn't quite pull it off.

Breakfast is calling. TTYL

Just a quick check-in this morning.  I have a couple small chores to do and then I have to get ready to greet my fans at Wally World.  I had a nice long phone chat with my sister last night.  We didn't settle all the woes of the world but we took care of a few close to home.  I miss being able to sit and chat with her face to face.

We had 1º when I got up this morning.  The snow is frozen solid and the dogs walk on top.  And they don't stay out there very long.  It's only suppose to get up to 11 today.  I can't wait to get back home after work!

AMY, the pies were called "Buttermilk Pecan".  They were kind of custardy but not as much as custard pies are.

I wish you all a nice warm, cozy day filled with love and lots of happies!

Just want to tell y'all my internet/phones & main computer are all having hic-cups this morning. I've restarted the computer 3 times, reset the modem twice & called Cox on my cell phone. The phones are now working but still can't get the new-er computer to connect. This poor old baby is so slow to move around, but slow is better than nothing. Got a number of projects started but not finding means to finish anything (brain power lacking).

Wind is terrific, absolutely puts me into the worst kind of mood, besides making TV flicker & my bones moaning when cats want to go in & out. Hope Lloyd & Nancy are hunkered down somewhere safe & not driving in this wind. Do hope they found a warm spot but am uneasy at not hearing at all.

Larry, good to see your post & hope your doctor can fix you up fast. Maybe you need something fun to dangle under your nose to perk you up, you think?  ... Like a trip around the world or whatever makes you smile?  Over in the Missouri discussion"back in the day" of Senior Net, during slumps we would get on the fantastic bus that swooped all over to pick everyone up... & before it was over one of the group that could create, would post a picture of everyone crowded on the bus ... and our spirits would pick up. I'll bet Gloria would still have a photo of that bus (hint-hint).... Seriously, prayers for a good report from your doctor.

Amy, I'm interested in using the instant pot for eggs... hard boiled eggs that fast & do they peel good?  My daughter has one & is eating a lot of hard boiled eggs... I'll pass the word on.

Going back to see why the other computer won't connect to my Wi-fi... sure... duh..... Guess I'll have to bring it into this room that is right over the modem & router. I give up easy.

found no blood clots in it, she in the past has had them. also I posted about where and what we were doing, but it is not showing up now I cant fiend it, oh well i am not the first to loos one or the last. we are home and friend Dave helped me get the motor home emptied up and all the supply tanks all emptied up. we left the furnace running so to keep it all warm, and tomorrow we will put the antifreeze in all the line and tank's so they wont freeze up and burst. I think i will go take a nap.
See you all later.

Glad you are safe, Lloyd, and hope Nancy's leg is better with "stretching it out". That is why I nagged (YES, I DID) about driving too many hours without stopping to walk. We never did enough to keep the circulation going, & the veins in the legs still show "too much sitting". Give her a hug for me. Next time I go to that Corp of Engineer campground just east of Clinton on highway 7...between Warsaw, I'll let you know & maybe you & Nancy can drive your motorhome down & camp near so we can visit.

I am still having computer problems, can get this old one to work but the new one won't join my internet. The "troubleshooter" that is built in says it is connected but I get the pop up that won't let it work. Is this fair??? I brought the new one in this back bedroom right over the modem where the old laptop sits... new one still won't work.  :tissue:

Thanks, Amy, I'm just going to call my daughter & chat, we've talked several times already today. She is a lot of fun since she retired.  ;)

JaneS.......I noticed you used the popular phrase,  "If the Lord's willing and the creeks don't rise"
I've heard it often and assumed it referred to rising water.
According to some historians, it actually refers to the CREEK Indians.

"Benjamin Hawkins of the late 18th century, was asked by the US president to go back to Washington. In his reply, he was said to have written, "God willing and the Creek don't rise". Because he capitalized Creek it's asserted that he was referring to the Creek Indian tribe and not a body of water."

TidBit to remember, Don!  I do love the old sayings, especially when we start figuring out where they come from & what they mean.

Been shopping for another DVD player 'cause the one I have is too smart. It will record lots & lots of shows & I know how to watch them, but no clue how to just pop a DVD in to play. Besides, I want one where I can lay down & watch so need a simple one. Looks like Walmart is the place to go.

Thanks for the info, DONKLAN.  I remarked on it because JUNE used it a couple of times.  It isn't one of mine or even my family.  My ITALIAN Mother-in-law said I often and I was reminded when JUNE used it.  Interesting to learn where it actually came from.  The Italians in that family were not in the USA until the early 1900s and they all spoke Italian until they went to school.  The farthest west any of them got was Flint, Michigan. Mom must have picked it up from someone else.

I have two whiny dogs underfoot telling me it's time for supper so I better go feed them....me too!

I talked to someone at Quaker Maid Cabinets today and she's sending me what she thinks I need to fix my "droopy drawers".  We had a nice chat on the phone and if they don't work when I get them I can return them for a full refund.  She sounded VERY Amish!  I wonder!  They are located in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country!

Later friends.  Temps got all the way up to 10 today.  BRRRRR!!!

Good Evening Everyone...

Glad to see that LLoyd has returned home
safely ... Hope his wife is feeling better
soon.

I had a funny thing happen tonight.

I was sitting at my desk and heard a voice
coming from my Life Alert.    No bells or whistles
just a voice that sounded like a phone call.

Come to find out the phone call was from
Florida...  The person calling and I got
laughing because my "phone call"  came
over my "Life Alert" box.

I called "Life Alert"  and they immediately
reset  my "Life Alert"  box and checked and
made sure everything was working ok
and we had a nice chat and hopefully
everything is working OK,  and I will not
get any more "phone calls"  over my life
alert system.

I have been with Life Alert now for many
years ....    Since I signed up with them
there has been many more "Alert Systems"
come  advertised...  Once in a while I
checked them out but always come to the
decision that my "Life Alert" is really
the best choice for me.  And there would be
no advantage for me switching to a system
that might be a bit cheaper.

I guess for me it comes to I get
what I  pay for,  while all the other
businesses are competing for my business,
I need to remember how very good
my "Life Alert" system really is.

(I hope that I do not get any more phone
calls over it !!)  :D

It very cold and windy here in Maine
tonight..    But I am prepared.

Sandy

it is nigh on to supper time, but I had to pop in and read all your messages. I love you folks and I love being part of your lives.

Nothing new from my side of the States...still fussing over money to finish the wall/ fence...whatever. I remember back home in Mn. farmers put up simple barbed wire fences and electrified them to keep the cattle from breaking out. It worked.

We had a mild day today. I don't think I went out though.....can't remember. My Dr. is coming here on Wed. so I typed out all I wanted to tell her. She likes that, and it is the only way I can remember what I want to say. The x-ray guy was here today...wheels in this big portable machine. I guess the doctor wanted a current picture of my "engine". It will be an interesting visit...I was too sick to see her in Dec. and evidently she doesn't make "house calls", even a ride on the elevator and a few steps from the clinic to my rooms. Oh, well, nothing in writing says all will be done to please each of us.

Time for me to go sir up some cottage cheese, sliced peaches, and anything else that pops up. I had a huge lunch of potato salad, added with a can of tuna and a bunch of chopped olives. Still have 3 or 4 meals of it left. But not for tonight.

I pray you all have a Blessed night, and Larry, I pray you will wake tomorrow with the feeling that your body is stronger and free of illness. God can place His Hands on the sick part and do His healing. Believe it, my friend. Love to All.......June

Good Mornng Everyfriend!  I thought it was cold here at 0º!  I'm really glad I'm not futher north right now...like in Northern Canada where AMY is!  I'll be happy to see signs of Spring!

I'm just checking in here.  I have to go make doggie food before they begin to bug me.

SANDY, that's weird what happened with your Life Alert!  Things can get screwed up sometimes.  Was it someone you knew or a total stranger.

OOPS!  Too late!  There's a whiner behind my chair.  Later friends!

Good morning on another cold morning.  Only 10 degrees right now, but it is sunny.

I did sleep pretty good last night and do feel rested today.

I can't play around on the computer this morning.  I have a doctor's appt. this afternoon, and it takes me a while to get myself ready. I do not like to have to rush.   And, then I will play cards tonight,  My appt. is at 3, so I won't have a whole lot of time after I get home to get a quick bite to eat and then get down for the card game.

Lloyd, glad that you are back home safe and do hope Nancy is feeling better. I agree with Shirley about stopping a lot to walk around. We used to do that, also.  Not good to sit in the same position for too long a time.  Hope this little set-back won't deter you from more travels.

Hope Larry is feeling better today.

Jane, hope the nice lady you talked to will send you the perfect "fix" for your drawer problem.

Sandy, yes, that was strange.  I had a call the other day from my "Alert System" asking if I was ok. Evidently, I had leaned against the kitchen counter and accidently hit the alert button. But, I hadn't heard it beep. I was quite surprised when I got the call.  But, all was well.  That has happened several times before.

Hope everyone will have a pleasant day.

Joy

Good Morning Everyone
from the freezing cold and windy,
rocky coast of Maine .    It is 13 deg /F with
a wind chill of -5 deg/f ...   Last night
is suppose to be the worst for cold and low
wind chills. and it will be slow warming up
into the 20's (maybe)..  Typical Maine
weather.

The lady on the "Life Line" was from
Florida! And  "Life Line" picked her
up here in Maine..      *Funny!

Tomorrow I have my bi yearly appointment
with my Cardiologist.   No problems,
just a checkup ...   They take good
care of me.

June... I have to make a long list
of things to remember when I see the
Doctors, or I sit there like a dummy
with not much to say.    :knuppel2:

Have a good day,  Everyone.
And stay warm

Hi Everyone.  Just checking in for today.  I was able to get an appointment with my former cardiologist for Thursday morning.  She has moved to an Aiken  Cardiologist practice and her office is about 26 minutes from where I live.  I have not been able to get my current doctor to respond to my calls or messages.  Scott will take us there. Yesterday was not a good day and didn't even come into my office.  I spent it either sitting or reclining in my easy chair or laying in bed.

This fits in the line of "if the creek don't rise".......

Mergatroyd! Do you remember that word? Would you believe the spell-checker did not recognize the word Mergatroyd? "Heavens to Mergatroyd"!

The other day a not so elderly (I say 75) lady said something to her son about driving a Jalopy; and he looked at her quizzically and said, "What the heck is a Jalopy?" He had never heard of the word jalopy! She knew she was old. But not that old.

Well, I hope you are Hunky Dory after you read this and chuckle.

About a month ago, I illuminated some old expressions that have become obsolete because of the inexorable march of technology. These phrases included: Don't touch that dial, Carbon copy, You sound like a broken record, and Hung out to dry.

Back in the olden days we had a lot of moxie. We'd put on our best bib and tucker, to straighten up and fly right.

Heavens to Betsy! Gee whillikers! Jumping Jehoshaphat! Holy moley!

We were in like Flynn and living the life of Riley; and even a regular guy couldn't accuse us of being a knucklehead, a nincompoop or a pill. Not for all the tea in China!

Back in the olden days, life used to be swell, but when's the last time anything was swell? Swell has gone the way of beehives, pageboys and the D.A.; of spats, knickers, fedoras, poodle skirts, saddle shoes, and pedal pushers.

Oh, my aching back! Kilroy was here, but he isn't anymore.

We wake up from what surely has been just a short nap, and before we can say, "Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle!" Or, "This is a fine kettle of fish!" We discover that the words we grew up with, the words that seemed omnipresent, as oxygen, have vanished with scarcely a notice from our tongues and our pens and our keyboards.

Poof, go the words of our youth, the words we've left behind. We blink, and they're gone. Where have all those great phrases gone?

Long gone: Pshaw, The milkman did it. Hey! It's your nickel. Don't forget to pull the chain. Knee high to a grasshopper. Well, Fiddlesticks! Going like sixty. I'll see you in the funny papers. Don't take any wooden nickels. Wake up and smell the roses.

It turns out there are more of these lost words and expressions than Carter has liver pills. This can be disturbing stuff! (Carter's Little Liver Pills are gone too!)

We of a certain age have been blessed to live in changeable times. For a child each new word is like a shiny toy, a toy that has no age. We at the other end of the chronological arc have the advantage of remembering there are words that once did not exist and there were words that once strutted their hour upon the earthly stage and now are heard no more, except in our collective memory. It's one of the greatest advantages of aging.

Leaves us to wonder where Superman will find a phone booth...

See ya later, alligator! Okidoki.

You'll notice they left out "Monkey Business" too!!!

Nancy is feeling better  the ultra sound they done on her leg, showed no blood clots. but they told her to keep her leg elevated above her heart level, for 48 hours.now that is a hard thing to do but she has done pretty well with it. she has spent her time in her recliner with a folded pillow folded double under her leg. and she is doing a good job of bossing me around. HA HA HA, well I am a good listener as well as talker.see you all Later.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's warmed up today!  It was all the way up to 21º when I got up this morning!  Wow!  A real heat wave!

I'm so glad that AMY is keeping the snow in Canada!  I really can't use any more here.  They are predicting it for Tuesday and if it comes, it will complicate things.  I have a dentist appt in a town about 5 miles away and my cleaning dynamo is supposed to be here around noon.  I also have some people dropping for an information session around 5.  Lots to do so don't need any snow

I'll be off to Wally World at 10 this morning.  It was dead on Monday but I'm betting the warmer temps will bring out some shoppers today.

Not much else happening here.  Stay in if you can!  Stay warm, well and safe.

well back again. temp. is 19º here mostly cloudy, yesterday and through the night, we had about 1/2" 3/4" yesterday fine drizzle all day. I am ready for spring to get here.  while we were gone had a electrical short and dave had to call fire deportment.never set no fire though, they turned off electricity and bob came over and fixed the short and ran a temporary line to the basement. there were two lines direct bury form where the line had came to house before the electric CO changed the line to get it out from a tree under it. so now another job to do. Bob is a lineman and eh said the temporary line is fine for now we will put a new bigger box in and re hook things when the weather gets better. Have a great day.

Good morning everyone.Sorry I could not sit here to post yesterday. This freezing windy weather and I just could not get along together.. I spent most of the day wrapped in  my down throw in my nighty and  fleece robe. Today is the warmest to start in too many days, a whole 18° and supposed to go up to 40 this afternoon. A heat wave after below 0 not mentioning wind chill. With the warmer temperature it will be bringing in heavy rain.

SHIRLEY  I remember Martex and those bus rides. I wish I had saved those but at the time I did not know how to save anything. We sure had a lot of fun and laughs in that Missouri discussion with Bunnie leading us.

LLOYD  good to know you are home safe. Sorry Nancy's leg was bothering her so bad.

DONKLAN  I have often wanted to mention that it was the Creek Indians rising, not the water creeks. I had read that way back when I was a teen. When someone says that to me I come back and tell then the Creek Indians are peaceful and do not rise in battle anymore and they look at me like I am an idiot.

JENNY  hope you do not mind but I copied your post. I want to send it to my grandsons. Most likely they will think I lost my mind. I sure got a case of laughing reading that list. Like Bob Hope's theme song "Thanks for the memories"

JANE  only 2 people here I heard say that much used word and it is disgusting.

JUNE  sorry that pneumonia is still hanging in. Prayers that it will leave PDQ.

LLOYD  thank GOD there was no fire in your home.

Have a good day.

Thanks, Larry, for posting, prayers & good thoughts for his report tomorrow.

Gloria, on one of the computers I did save some of the animated stuff but don't remember where, maybe it was a CD?  If I run across it again do you want me to e-mail?  I don't know how to reduce size to post & not sure how I copied or if it came e-mail. Haha, so much "I don't know," huh?

I need to jump into the shower & get the day moving, had sort of planned for the tree stump guys to show up but a neighbor reported that she had heard that was one of the complaints about this crew. We'll see. I do have their card & can be a pest. Youngest son is to come by tonight to see if he can figure why the HP won't connect to my wi-fi.. so trying to clean clutter. Living by myself I have gotten bad about stacking stuff up & this is my "neat" kid. He took after Cas, everything in it's place & get rid of anything that didn't have a place. Only this kid did/does his own cleaning, Cas had an unpaid maid.  :o

Sorry about the boo-boo on the RV, Lloyd. Mine has a minor one on each side but I didn't do them. One happened where it was being repaired & didn't know about it until I got home... and let it go. The other side got bumped when a neighbor pulled into the driveway & clipped it. He called back to say what happened & offered to have it fixed, but I knew they'd had other claims & didn't want to cause them to lose insurance. Neither show unless someone is looking for spots, doesn't bother the driving part.

Had a dusting of snow yesterday but bright sun shining so shouldn't take long to melt it off, except for the driveway.

ONWARD!

Could be I checked it on the phone or Kindle.... or one of the other computers. I will double check. The phones seem to be working okay right now, but since I still can't retrieve "voice mail" messages, not sure if all calls when I'm on the phone still give that same old message that "voice mailbox not set up"..... it is but wish it wasn't & that I didn't have call waiting It is a package deal & I do like the caller ID. Hello Everyfriend!  I came home from work very tired.  While I was thinking to myself that I wish it was time to go home, my next customer came around behind the counter and gave me a hug and said she'd waited especially in my line so she could do that.  Surprised, I took a good look and saw a dear old friend from mu Girl Scout days.  We'd both served on the Council together and we shared a lot of good memories over the years.  I haven't seen her for at least 5 years.  What a special way to get my energy back.  After she checked out, I took a minute and went around the counter and got a real hug before she left.

It seems that when my energy and my feelings are at their lowest, God sends someone or something to bring me back!  He really is there for me!

Now I'm off to bed.  Tomorrow, the furnace and heating system guy will be here to look things over and see I there's a way to get more heat and less cold air from the openings in my floors.  Maybe the furnace needs a cleaning.  Maybe the ducts need cleaning.  Now I sound like I'm trying to do his job.  I think I'll just wait and see what he says.

Good Night, Everyfriend.  And may God bless us, every one!

JaneS well another not good sleep night. was a good true story. i was posting a comment to your statement about blessings, nearly done and away it went into never land. we thank god at all meal times and others as well.
but some of the time I dwell on the not good things to much, such as my dumb blunder backing into the post in that fast food lot turning around
when I had made a wrong turn. messing up the back of the R v, and the bull wandering out on the ice and falling through and drowning yesterday.
A loss of $2,800. now i have to gather up money and get another one. it is possible i have insurance on him not sure will check it out today.
that is the most part why I am un able to sleep tonight worrying about it. for the most part I only carry liability on them if one gets out and someone hits it to cover the damages. well I am going to go back to the couch and see if sleep will catch me there. good night.

Good morning everyone.
Melting here, 30° F and no new snow to deal with.
Cleaning day today and I may get some ribs ready for tomorrow nights supper. Will have to see how the day goes.

Gloria, this cold weather is horrible on the joints..hope today is a better day for you. It is so mild here this morning water is running off the house. Lots of ice out there, pup went out and fell .

Lloyd, it seems if it wasn't for bad luck you would have no luck at all. I hope the bull is covered by your insurance. That is a big loss plus now you have to go looking for another one.

Jane, don't you love surprises like that? with the cold we have had the past few days both the wood fire and oil furnace have been going. We are now back into warmer weather where the fire will do just fine.

Larry, I hope the Dr can help you today. Maybe a med needs to be adjusted or even changed to a better one. Pray it is a simple fix.

I would dearly love to go back to sleep but I don't think that will happen. Now that the pup got me up he has gone back to sleep!!! :tickedoff:  Oh well..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone. It is 48°. warmer than it was when I went to bed last night and it is raining pretty hard. Might get up to 3 inches of rain today. With the ice and the ground frozen there will be fun orr and flooding in places. Mother Nature is on a rampage this year so far.

CAROL  we were raised to respect our flag but  these days it gets me angry to see some dressed in our flag. Disrespect IMHO.

LARRY  prayers that your cardiologist visit today turns out where you can get help feeling better.

SHIRLEY  I would love to see some of those bus trips. I have a copy of the one Bunnie did with the faces of all who used to post in Bis' Nest. I printed it out and have it in a frame. I cannot remember the names of some of them. I have so many things saved on the external drive it would take a long time to check all the different folders I have. If we get all the rain predicted today we will not have much snow left here.

AMY  how much snow do you have on the ground? Inches or feet of it?

JUNE hope you are feeling much better today, take care of yourself. We want you around for a lot of years to come.

JANE  those hugs sure make us feel great don't they. Good luck with the heating guy.

LLOYD  you sure do get more than your share of bad luck. Sorry about the bull.

AMY  I am so tired of the cold this winter and staying inside. I will not go out to even walk on the cleared walkway for exercise. I always love getting out into the fresh air.

Woke too early but cannot go back to sleep so might as well get into the shower and get moving with my day. Wonder if my CNA will bet here. I told her to go home if it is raining as hard as the weather guessers say it will.   :playnice:

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem.  Have to get ready for the furnace/heating guy this morning.  He's supposed to be here around 12:30.

Before I forget...can somebody remind me how to make the printing I see while I'm typing my post a bit bigger.  A while ago, it got so small that I can hardly see it unless I lean in.

The only other thing on my agenda is taking my trash to the dumpster and collecting a bill payment from my son for something I picked up for him to give Kiran for Christmas.  And then depositing his check in the bank.  Not a very busy day.  I did print out a bread recipe that I'd like to try.  It's been a while since I made bread but we shall see...

LLOYD, that's a darn shame about the bull!  Like AMY said, "If you didn't have bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all!"  Now you know that's not exactly true.  Lots of good stuff happens in our lives.  The bad stuff just seems to out shine the good sometimes.  I hope you've discovered that the bull was insured.

I'm off to get dressed and ready to meet the day!  Stay warm and dry and well.

Good morning on this dreary morning.

I got busy yesterday and didn't get back here.

Jane, hope all will go well with the visit from the furnace man today.  You sure do need the furnace working well with all these freezing cold days.  Glad you have a day off to be able to rest a little bit.

Lloyd, sorry about all the mishaps that have occurred lately.  Sure hope the damage to the motor home will be an easy fix.  You sure do need a change of luck.

I see where Amy has been taking a couple whirls with the snow shovel. Amy,  you are such a busy lady. Sure wish I had some of your energy.

Gloria, I am with you and don't go out in this cold weather, except when I absolutely have to.

I did have a good visit with the cardiologist on Tuesday. He did not change anything and said to come back in 6 months.  He told me I was "amazing". I told him that I wished I felt "amazing". But, it was nice to get some good news from him.  He is such a nice, compassionate doctor. I like him so much.

Hope we hear some good news from Larry today.

I need to get some  breakfast and then get on with my day. First on the agenda, is to clean out my fridge a little bit. I know there are some leftovers that will get pitched out.

Hope everyone will have a good day.

Joy

The furnace guy just called and asked if it would be OK if he showed up a little early today.  He'd finished the job he was working in a town about 45 minutes away and would stop for some lunch on the way here and be here by noon.  I told him I'm ready and he can come any time.  I guess I better go out and move the car out before he gets here so he can get his tools in.

I'll check back later.  Stay WARM and DRY!

Well, right now I can spit enough nails to build us all a house!! Mail came and I got a jury duty notice...AGAIN!! :tickedoff: This will be the third one.,Once I sat on jury for 12 days, that meant driving to and from the city each day a two hour drive each way. The next one the case was settled just before they picked the jury and now this!!Can't they pick on someone else??? I know it is my civic duty and if I didn't have so much on my plate I would go .no problem...BUT..
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for January 15, 2019

OUCH!  I must have caught one of those nails!  Seems like you might be a good candidate to be excused.  You have someone to care for at home.  Could you ask someone that question?  Who would take Kyle to his appointments if you're not available?

The furnace/AC guy was here and there is nothing to be done until Spring when they can get under the house.  He thinks either the in or out vent on the AC might be drooping a bit and that's letting cold air into the back part of the house.  But the inlet door for under the house is frozen shut and even if he could get it open, it's probably wet and freezing under there and also, he's the wrong size and age for crawling under a house.  So we have it set up for Spring and hopefully it will be a drier Spring than last year.  I have a good selection of sweat shirts and flannel pajamas and I've lived through some winters already in the cold so I'll live through another one.  What could be next?

Maybe that nail I felt was me spitting nails!  It sure beats crying.  It's wet enough around here!  Maybe I'll just move to Texas!  I guess I'd never see any of my old GS friends if I did that, thought!

I think I'll take a nap!

Amy, does your city or county have exclusions for jury duty?  Here in Texas, if you are 70 or over, are a caregiver of a disabled person, have children under 5, are disabled or a couple of other exclusions are reasons you can ask to be excluded.  I have done my civic duty several times over the years but there is a limit.  The last time I went, they had called 150 people and only 50 bothered to even show up.  I can't believe 100 people had valid reasons to get out of it ::).

Jane, I hope you can pile on enough sweats and flannel PJs to make it through the winter!  We're holding our breath that our heat pump will hold up until summer.  Last summer, the A/C portion went out.  He was able to patch it together to last the season, and then the heat part went out during our first cold snap.  Luckily, it was just a burnt wire that time!  Our house is 25 years old and it's the original.

Jane, when we had a house without basement we had a pipe that kept freezing & no way to get under to fix, BUT there was an outside vent that had a metal flapper that could be opened to air... know what I mean?  I "happened to have" some carpet pieces left over, cut them a little bigger than the openings & went around the house & wedged them into those openings. NO MORE pipes froze after that. Had to take them out the rest of the year but were life savers for below freezing, especially with wind blowing. My husband had poo-pooed my idea & surprised when it worked. Hope you find a cure.

Amy, I've only been called for jury duty one time in my life & had volunteered many times when my working kids were called, but they wouldn't accept substitutes. My case was settled before going to trial but we sat there for days while one after another was called & grilled by the lawyers. Was funny when the judge asked this room full of "Bubbas" in their plaid shirts & bib overalls if "anyone had ever used a gun?"  Would you believe this old gray haired lady was the only one to admit it?  I thought you were supposed to tell the truth!! Even the judge laughed as well as the rest of the room. You do have a valid excuse with needing to be there to take care if needed (talking about the pup, of course) plus the extra driving during winter. You shouldn't feel at all guilty with opting out on this one, you really are needed by your family.

Larry, I am sorry that you are so tired and concerned the news was not what you hoped for. My thoughts & prayers are with you tonight.

MaryTX, my house was built in the "mid-60s", we've been here for 30 years & had to replace everything except all the bathroom fixtures... and I need to adopt a plumber now! I don't want to remodel, just replace the commodes & faucets in tubs & wash basins... & that is a big job. You know how any replacement goes, will need new flooring, etc. I was hoping it would all work until I'm ready to leave & sell "as is".... it is the labor that costs most & someone handy, like my husband (with my help) fixed everything so will be a bargain for the right person. There isn't another house in this city I would rather live in so not ready to give up yet.

I'm on the computer "wired" to the modem in the basement so not going to doing much computing until my son has time to take care of the security system he put in many years ago. He thinks it needs updating completely & will have to unlink the old XP & Vista computers as they won't handle the wi-fi updates. I can deal with that (be a pain ........BUT) Other son was here last night & installed the DVD player so I can watch those movies my daughter brought me. Life is complicated sometimes.

Hugs & prayers for all.... love ya.  Shirley

Larry, hope you get a good nights sleep......prayers your way......take care.

Mary TX, I will check into it and see what can be done..

Lloyd, I am just going to say put em in jail and throw away the key :))

Shirley, any other time I wouldn't mind doing this but gosh, I have enough to do at the moment. Being in March one never knows what the weather will be like. Time will tell..... :)

Good night everyone..sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs  bite!

I'll be off to Dreamland soon, too.  I didn't get my nap this afternoon and just as I was drifting off after supper, Annie moved over by the door and started whining.  When I didn't pay attention, she decided to bark and that got me up.  Never went back to sleep.

I keep forgetting to tell you, I bought "One Special Night" a couple Christmases ago and I've watched it several times since.  I love it!  If you haven't seen it, get it!

I wish you all good night and may God bless us, every one!

Haha, June, I think we all read what others think & skim right over a typo. Sorry you are feeling so sluggish but maybe the meds do that to make you rest more?  Prayers that you are better tomorrow & every day after.

Jane, I've played that DVD my daughter sent me 3 times before seeing the end again. I saw it years ago & mentioned to her that I'd love to see it again. She has a copy & first offered to bring it & I would send it back with her. But she knows when I'm in a campground I often go to sleep & have to watch several time before seeing one all the way through.... I was really happy when #2 son got the player set up & I actually remembered how to operate both remotes today. I think I paid about $35 for the player at Walmart this week so money well spent. I don't go to movies or eat expensive meals out...

Fitbit tells me I got 4 hours & 24 min sleep last night. I tried to nap this afternoon & got 2 robo calls just minutes apart. Guess whoever is blocking those robo calls can't nail this one that insists "I've wanted information about back or knee braces, etc." and I scream into the phone "bull s**t", something I never said aloud my whole life but those calls are turning me into a nut case.

Amy, we really are over the hump for winter, still more to come but can have off & on warmer temps, too. I am worried the trees & bushes that had big buds already will not get another chance this year, but my tiger lilies that have their noses out of the ground have done this before & survived. I do wish we would get one snow deep enough to ride my sno-nut down the hill, next winter I may be too old....maybe, never know.

I'd better get ready for bed, cats had their midnight snack twice... they act like they are starved all the time. Sweet dreams to all.

Just wanted to say a quick HELLO tonight and tell you all that I hope those of you who are under the weather feel much better tomorrow.

We were up quite early this morning as our Boston DIL came by to pick up her car so she could drive to Vail to get the kitchen set up after the remodel they have just finished.  It started snowing and she had quite the time getting here and then had to do,the drive to Vail.

I am headed off to bed but did want to stop in to see how everything is going.

LLOYD, I am so sorry to read about the bull that you lost.....that is awful.

Pleasant dreams to all,

Good morning everyone..

Woke up to light snow falling. We are off to the city for an appointment for hubby this morning, one that we had cancelled at the beginning of the week due to the frigid weather.   Meeting up with our friends and exchange parcels. She has one of scrap material for me and I have a bag stuffed with coffee cup sleeves for her. She takes the sleeves apart and puts glue and coloured feathers on it ,then rolls them back up to use as cat toys for the humane society that her daughter works for. She is doing some with red feathers for Valentines day .

June, rest is the best medicine as you know. Pneumonia  knocks the stuffing right out of you. My friend just just the ok that her lungs are now clear from the pneumonia she had. I wish she would get the shot for it but she said no.

Gloria, we had 8 inches of new snow then rain so that and the existing snow depth is down to about 12 inches I would say. The pup thinks it is great walking on top of the crust till he falls through.

Jane, would banking up the snow around your home help stop the cold from coming in?

Shirley, they say we are to spend over 400.00 more for groceries this year, sure hope there is no crop failures or we would be spending a lot more!
We have snow deep enough for that and hills to give you the ride of your life too!!

Better go get ready and make sure everything is in the vehicle, now that there is another body that needs water and food.

Have a great day everyone..

Good Morning Evryfriend!  I don't have much time before the boinger for feeding the doggies goes off but I wanted to put in an appearance.

AMY, thanks for the suggestion about snow banks but there's not enough snow on the ground to do that and the vent leaks are under the floor.  He can't tell if they are under the storage room floor or the bedroom floor without being able to get the access panel off.  It's not really as bad as I made it sound.  I keep those doors closed during the day and I open my bedroom door about an hour before I'm ready to go to bed and it's not really that bad for sleeping.  I grew up sleeping in a room that had been added on to the original house and it was never really warm in there so I'm kind of used to it. I'll survive another winter.

I have a whiner behind my chair so I guess I better see about feeding us ll.  Enjoy your day everyfrend.  Make it your own in every way.

Good morning.   A pretty sunny morning, but still very cold. But, at least, the sun is shining.

Jane, I agree with you about the movie "One Special Night".   It is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and one of the kind that you can watch over and over.  I can't believe that I had never heard of it before and it had come out in 1999.  I can watch it on Amazon, and it is on YouTube, also.

I am glad to see more postings this morning.  Yesterday was really slow.

They are painting the walls in our building and yesterday, they started up here on my floor.  Hoping that I can still get into the laundry room later.

I need to get some breakfast and then I will check back.  Sure hope we hear some good news from Larry.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone, what a miserable day here yesterday. We had 24 hours of rain, pouring rain, had 2+1/2 inches if it and strong wind to go with it. Most of the snow we had is gone except the piles from the plow. A lot of branches down and some trees, too. Was still windy after the rain stopped and where pavement didn't dry is black ice now. On 2 different highways where the roads were patched and frozen the rain pulled it out and at least 30 people ended with blowouts hitting the potholes. The state will have to pay to have tires and even some rims replaced.

JOY  I stay inside most of the winter anymore. No more appointments in the winter months.

AMY you are your husband's caregiver, can you be excused for that? My daughter took care of her FIL and was excused for that. I spent a winter in Maine one year with my niece and her husband. We drove around a lot on weekends and I noticed the snow around the bottom of houses. Finally I asked why and was told it helped keep the house warmer in the winter months.

Have a good day. Hope I can warm up today.

Sunny morning here but downright cold again.  Yesterday we were in the 60's but this morning it was 28 when I got up.  You don't know how to dress or heat the house or anything with this up-'n-down weather.  But, quit complaining, phyllis, it could be worse.

Wish everyone here could feel good and not have any problems to deal with. I'm concerned about Larry and June.  Hope we hear soon that they are feeling better.

Amy, you are your husband's caregiver so I would think that you might be excused from jury duty.  I used to think that I was on someone's hit list because I was called so often but now I'm permanently exempt because of age.  There are SOME perks to getting older.

Jane, hope your vent problem can be solved soon.  I, too, grew up in a house that had heating in only the dining room and kitchen.  We had lots of quilts and comforters for the beds and each of us carried a hot brick up to the beds to keep our feet warm.  That worked until you jammed your foot against that hard, cold brick during the night!  We all survived and maybe were healthier because we weren't sleeping in overheated bedrooms.

Jenny, sorry it was such a difficult trip for your DIL.  When we lived in Colorado we thought long and hard before we drove up into the mountains.  Never knew when a storm would come and close you in.

Breakfast is calling.  Make it a good day.

Hi Everyone.  We have a beautiful sunny morning and it is to be partly cloudy the rest of the day but no rain in the forecast.  My cardiologist thinks I am suffering from severe dehydration probably caused the the higher dosage of Entresto that I have been taking for several weeks.  So she cut it back to 1/4th of what I was taking.  I have to go back for a series of blood tests Monday or Tuesday and then again in 7 days.  She also took me off of the Digoxin that I started a few weeks ago and changed the diuretic and told me not to take the statin drug  unless my diastolic pressure is 63 or above.  It was 40 in the right arm yesterday and 41 in the left arm when the nurse took it yesterday.  I finally got a fairly good nights sleep last night after having a cup of Camomile Tea around midnight. I had been getting very little sleep for the last few days.   I am having trouble concentrating and it took me better than an hour to remove medicine certain medicine from my pill boxes and get the right dosage in replacement.  The doctor told me not to expect immediate recovery.  She wants me to limit my fluid intake to no more than 1 1/2 liters of liquid a day due to the kidney disease.  I have read all of the postings but don't have the energy to try to make replies to the good posting.

Larry, glad the problems seem to have solutions. Not easy to record every ounce of liquid "that goes over the lips & past the gums, look out tummy, here it comes"..... but Cas got an empty jug, at one time gallon milk but also used a 2 liter one, measured the amount of liquid allowed with magic marker  (using measuring cup)... and every drink he had he would put that amount in the jug. At end of day if he needed to drink more he guzzled. I certainly understand about a fuzzy brain with lack of sleep... that's why I started wearing a Fitbit. I knew that was my biggest problem & still is. Lately I've let too many issues of the day keep me awake.  Take care and hope you feel stronger soon. Still wish you'd keep a tub of raisins handy to munch, can't hurt!

Day is slipping away fast, my trip to the store will be put off until tomorrow, I guess.

Hello Everyfriend!  I was totally tired when I got home and I've done absolutely nothing since I walked in the door except to take care of the doggies.

My friend Mavis, is picking me up around 6:30 to go to a "Ladies Night Out" at her church.  They have these about every two months and I really enjoy going with her.  They have a movie, eats and games during intermission.  A very nice bunch of ladies attend and they really make me feel welcome.

The doggies ate early and they'll have time to go out twice before I leave.

LARRY, it's so good to hear from you and it sounds like you have something to attend to.  Do what you must, let us know when it's working and take care of yourself.

The new brackets for my drawers arrived today and I think they'll work. Now if I could just find a longer pair of arms so I could attach them and give them a try, I'd be a happy camper.  It's almost impossible to stretch to the back of the cupboard, hold a flashlight, insert the screw in the proper hole and tighten it.  I wonder if there are any elves available.  I'm thinking....

Right now, I have to go let the doggies in...

Hey, Jane, Google camping headlight, look at styles & prices then go in the sporting part of YOUR store & get one. They are life savers when doing those kind of jobs. Granted, they don't extend arms, but have a feeling if your son shows up with longer arms he will be grateful to use the light! Glad they are the right parts!

Boy, Gloria de.... that's more friends than I see in a year!  Good friends, too. Not your birthday, is it?

I've been thinking about getting myself one of those "headlights".  I have lots of places where it would come in handy.  Only I thought I'd have to get a miner's hat until you all started talking about them.

However, the space is so small that I don't think wearing that on my head would do any good.  Most of my head from th eyebrows up is above the opening.  My son is currently out of the country and won't be back until Sunday night.  If and when he can get over here, he has a flexible work lite that he can put inside the cupboard.  I wish I had that...and his long arms!

Our trip to the city was uneventful but the drive home was no fun. White outs in  some areas but we are home safe and sound. We found out the in the fall, hubby can get new hearing aids....that will be nice!!  I don't know if his hearing is diminishing or it is the hearing aids. We do have some fun conversations  though. I may say one thing and he thinks I have said something totally different. Good for a laugh though.

I stopped and picked up 2 bags of chicken breasts for a friend and two hams for the neighbour . Plus some nice onions and parsnips for us.

Shirly ,we also had what is called  snake light, I found this handy but you do need  something to wrap it on.

Larry, just take it easy and we will pray that you have results soon.

Phyliss and Gloria, I hope that they will let me off for being the caregiver.

Tired tonight and will hit the bed early as we are to get more snow in the next few days.

Jane, enjoy your evening out.

Jane, ask the MAN (unless the woman working is a camper) in sporting goods to let you see what the headlight does. Mine came from Walmart (first one) & can tip it & not the head to shine where you want. I bought another on Amazon "lightning deal" for less than $10 that also works nice. When in the RV in CO I find them very useful, besides doing repairs around the house. I have my own tools to work with.

Amy, we used to have a snake light but haven't seen it in years. Wonder what happened to it?? Since we always fixed everything ourselves & built a house from scratch, not many tools we haven't had over the years. I am not as strong NOR as smart as Cas was or my father was & now Andy, so a few regrets that I didn't learn more somewhere along the line.

Andy was here while ago, we went to the basement where the HP was plugged direct into the modem, he unplugged & it was on the internet...wi-fi!  Since the others were all working, the one had an off/on switch by the lip & had been turned off some time, no clue when or how. Right now all are connected & working. He did (with my okay) removed a lot of extra stuff that was running on the really slow one, but we are thinking the app for iTunes is what slowed it down when that was installed. Daughter put it on because I had bought some music CDs & it said I could download them to other devices. She was determined to download to my iPod...and DID. Not that I ever use it.  :-[   I don't need to be plugged into something all the time.

Sweet dreams to all & prayers for everyone. Shirley

Good morning everyone.

We had a light dusting of snow and expect more today and Sunday. - 6° F out there this morning .

Laundry today and might try the yogurt in the instant pot , depending on my time.

Shirley, my Dad taught me a lot and now being married to a carpenter I have gleaned more knowledge. When Kyle first got RA, it was really bad without meds. We put in a higher toilet for him. He wanted to call a plumber but I said no, he knew how to do it,just couldn't physically. Told him he could be boss (just for that moment) and I would install the toilet. I did  and leaks either!!! My favorite job is siding, flooring hardwood or laminate flooring. Decks are another that I enjoy.

Better get ready for the day, don't think laundry with be hung out though..

Enjoy your day everyone

I'm up and attem early today.  Cathy and I are heading for the Amish store to be there around 8.  Yesterday and today they have everything except milk at a 20% discount.  The store will be packed but the bargains will be great

I'm off to get dressed and then feed the doggies and wait for my ride.  I wish I could take all of you with me.

The movie last night was very good and so was the food, fun and company.  I had a good time.  Enjoy your day today.  Grab it and make it your own in very way.  Feel better, stay warm, enjoy the snow from inside and don't do anything you don't feel like doing.

Good morning everyone, no rain today but I do see patches of ice outside. At 20° now it is still cold but it is January and we do expect  it. At least I no longer have to leave for work in the dark or even in daylight. So nice to be retired isn't it?

PHYLLIS I think in our generation none of us had central heat and had all those blankets to keep warm sleeping. I still cannot sleep in a warm room without a fan running.

LARRY  glad the Cardio doctor had you change meds fo you. I have heard a lot  lately about being dehydrated, who knew we needed to keep enough liquid in our days. Hope you start feeling. better now.

GLORIA de  surprising how company wears us out now. I know there are days I wish my CNA would stop talking and leave.

AMY  glad my age lets me off jury duty.

JANE  even without  that  20% discount I would love to that Amish store with you. I would like to go to any store, been 2 years since I  have been to one.

Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is a beautiful sunny and cold morning here in South Carolina and we are to enjoy the sun all day long.  I had another cup of Camomile tea last night before I went to bed and had the best nights sleep I have had for a long time as slept at least 10 hour.  Wish I could say I have more energy this morning but that is not the case but will just take things one day at a time.  I don't have anything I need to do today so sure I will be watching some college basketball games this afternoon.

Once again I am going to have to beg off from making other comments here today.  I will read your posting since I posted yesterday after I lay down again.  I am thankful for my iPhone that allows me to do that.

Good Morning,

Sunny and supposed to be warm enough to open windows for a bit to air out house.  Hope I have time to do that because what was going to be a Leisurely Weekend is turning out to be anything but....

Was about ready to settle in as a Recliner Radish yesterday afternoon when #1 son called to say dil had a "Girl's Night Out" and he'd like to come over after work.  Couldn't pass up an opportunity like that so dug around and found enough Freezer Fallout to make a fairly nice dinner.
We were enjoying that when Miss Emily called.  She was on her way home from KS because she's hostessing a friend's baby shower tomorrow.  She was almost to one of the I-35 exits here so, of course, came by and finished off the dinner offerings.

It was 9:00 by the time they both left and the kitchen was cleaned up.  (Yes, I had "help" but you know how that goes.  ;D )

Not long after son called, the guy who leases some farm property called to say he would like to bring the new lease here this afternoon.  Son wants to be here so will come back.

No food involved with this - just another delay to Recliner Radishing.  :)

If I don't get to the grocery store, I'll be washing dishes by hand    :) and birds will be pecking on the window wondering why there's no seed in the feeders.  Looks as if that will be something to do after church and OTL tomorrow.

And.....awaaay I go!   :tread:

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere has an Enjoyable Day.  (

Aside from putting away all my groceries from the Amish store and takin car of the doggies needs, I've done next to nothing today.  I think it must be the cold weather but the arthritis in my hands seems to be worse this week than it's been in a long time.  When I'm at work, I just keep pushing and using them as I must.  When I'm home, I cave in and tell myself they hurt too much to do "that".  So I don't!

Right now, they smell bad because I've rubbed them with a pain killer that's mostly menthol.  I refuse to get used to taking medicine for them!

Oh well, I guess old age pain beats the alternative!  I should be saying thank you for all my blessings and I do that too.  I wonder if God has a hard time sorting out the "thank yous" from the complaints?

Annie is telling me she needs something so I better go see what is it is.  Enjoy the rest of your day and just ignore my complaining.  I'll get over it!

Jane, my hands have been my biggest complaint as well.... I haven't tried any creams or any meds so far but do remember my grandmother talking about using Absorbine Jr. Haha, did a Google & see they still sell it... also a veterinary type. Think that might work best for you & me?

My daughter-in-law's mother died this morning.... so sad when it is a relief but she had signed the papers for no extraordinary measures so no fluids or food for days, but hospice was able to keep her comfortable. She hasn't known her daughter for quite a while and these last few weeks have been a nightmare for them all. She had Alzheimer's, I think the worst disease of all, because right now there is no cause, cure or even hope for getting better. I have left messages with all of them that I can do anything they need. I did go to the store for all the fresh veggies on the shelves to clean & cut up, put into ZipLoc baggies so they can go from kitchen table to frig without a lot of work. All the younger people eat raw veggies now instead of sweets, so will have them ready to deliver tomorrow. I remember when my parents died that so much food was brought in we ran out of places to store... so I am in wait mode. These "kids" have had their share of stress the last few months from her stem cell shots for her knees to Andy's open heart surgery (& that is still on going, waiting for the all clear of infection)... and Pam's mother in the background growing worse. We all would rather carry the load than watch our kids go through the bad.... so grateful that coming here you do know what I'm talking about.

We are to have mid 50s tomorrow so will take care of any outside chores before snuggling in for another winter blast next Monday.  Yesterday was my daughter's birthday & tomorrow my best friend here in town. I had just turned 21 when she was born, am 84 now, so is she 63? My heavens, how did she get so old??? My friend is same age as I am... so we look all year for the funniest cards (or meanest). I catch myself standing in the card aisle snickering & smiling at "how anyone can think these up".....  My daughter gets the loving ones, kind of proud of that girl.

Can you believe tomorrow is Sunday again?  Golly, better go take my Sat night shower. It was Hal that used to tease about that. What great friends we have had over the years. Stay healthy and will see you tomorrow.

I too am going to say good night, it has been a busy day here. I didn't get all done that I wanted but I bet it will still be there tomorrow..

Jane, my Aunt Kate had problems with her hands and she would always volunteer ,no matter where she was to wash dishes. She used the hottest water her hands could stand and said that helped her.  Now, my neighbour swore by WD 40...so who knows what will work.

Getting a lot colder here now, we have a good fire going and soon enough I will be under the covers...

Take care everyone.....see you in the morning..

AMY, I just told someone in the rest room at work this week that I don't wash my hands because they're dirty. I wash them to warm them up.  The hot water does make them feel better.

SHIRLEY, a friend told me about this roll on that's mostly menthol and it really smells strong but it sure does help.  I remember Absorbine Jr. too and I knew it was still around because I've checked some out.  Just couldn't remember what it was supposed to do.

Never heard of using WD40 for hands or other joints.  I wonder what's in it that helps?

SHIRLEY, I'm so sorry about your DIL's mother but I'm sure she's in a better place now.  She did what I would want to do if I knew that was coming my way.  I would not want to have my life "artificially" prolonged at the expense of my children's lives.  She must have been a good person and she must be with God's family now.

Now I'm going to let the doggies out one more time and head for the bedroom.  Sleep well my friends and wake refreshed.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good evening.

We enjoyed a fun day.  Granddaughter Kate had her dance competition at Denver University, so we went to watch her today.  It started yesterday and will end tomorrow night when she has her solo performance.  We do hope to go and watch.  The awards will be presented at nearly 10PM!  Much too late for these young girls to be out on a school night.  Not good planning IMHO.  Kate really loves her dancing and she is very good at it.

Tomorrow is Son Mark and Megan's first wedding anniversary.  Megan's mom flew out to California to be there with the baby so they could go out and celebrate.  It seems so much longer ago than one year that we all were together and had such a fun time at there wedding.

DIL Heidi flew home to Boston this afternoon.  She said she got a lot done at the mountain home and she thought her trip was a success.  I saw some pictures of the remodel and it does look nice.  We will look forward to seeing it soon.

The storm in the mid-west looks treturous, so I do hope those of you in the path of this storm will be OK.

SHIRLEY, I am sorry to read that your DIL's mother passed.  Bless her heart...alzheimers is a awful disease. How sad.  Happy Birthday to your daughter and your friend.

GLORIA, I sure wish you and I could go shop at Jane's Amish Store.  Today sure would have been fun with everything on sale!

LLOYD, could you not sell the dead bull to someone?  There must be a use for the meat somewhere?  How sad the fellow fell and broke his leg/shoulder.  How sad!

JUNE, I am sorry you are still feeling so badly.  I hope and pray that you can get to feeling much stronger soon.....Same to you, LARRY.
Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenn

Shirley HA HA all you want, but asorbaine JR relives pain and corn huskers rubbed in your hands makes them soft and nice. even more comfortable for you. it is past my bed time so good night and sweet dreams everyone. I hope to see you all tomorrow, yes Denver there a place to get rid of dead animals, they render them and make soap and dog food both still to the best of my knowledge but no longer pick them up free they now charge you $$$$for that service here. it is cheaper to just Barrie them and not let the wolves eat them.

Shirley good morning, it is 4:24 A  M here I am up for a dry mouth a drink of cold water and back to bed for some more ZZZ's. I just finished a good visit with peter on Skype. so off to a good start for the day. Nancy wont agree to taking off on the road until after taxes is finished up and uses the excuse bad weather so not until spring will she go. I tell her we can get the road conditions ahead of us and if we hit something un expected all we have to do is fiend a truck stop or wide spot in the road solder and put the leveling jacks down, just have the diesel and pro pain gas full and weight to road clearing is done. just keep all of that and the groceries topped off and we are in good shape.
Have a great day

Good morning everyone...

Will be a day to waltz with the snow blower when it gets light out. Started last night and it is still snowing.  Have friends stopping by later in the day for a visit and that is about it for the day...I hope.

Shirley, sorry to read about your DIL's Mom, that is a dreaded disease to have, shows no mercy at all. The blessing now is she is in no pain and in a much nicer place. Happy birthday to your daughter and friend.

Jenny, that is late for young ones to be out.

Lloyd, maybe Nancy just wants to be at home for a bit. Remember this traveling is all new to her.

Jane, I would love to go to the Amish store with you. We have one here but all she sells is flour, spices etc . She also make meals and has frozen ones for sale also. Smells so good when you walk in and she is cooking up a storm!

June, rest is good medicine. Soon you will feel tickity boo and up to shaking your bootie :)

Better go get ready for the day.....looks like this day of rest will start off with work!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, 22° now and supposed to get to 40° later. The warmer temp and sunshine will be wonderful.  I might actually get outside at last.

LARRY  glad you slept great, you needed it to sleep 10 hours. The last 2 nights I slept good but lately I am lucky to have had 5 hours of it and for me that is not enough. I know I need at least 7 hours or I am droopy all day. Cannot wait for my CNA to leave so I can lay on the couch and wait for my date with my daughter on Skype. Never sleep though and I wish I could.

SHIRLEY  like you I wish my iPhone was smarter-not us of course. Mine is sitting in the box it came in. I know if someone was here with me to tell me how to work the darn thing I would like it---maybe.

JANE  wish it was only my hands with arthritis. Some days I can hardly stand with the pain in my back but I have to live with it and do the best I can. I like the menthol smell, at least it is a clean smell. You are not complaining, just stating the facts.

SHIRLEY  only thing so far I have used on my back that helps is horse liniment. Go ahead laugh but is gives me a few hours of relief. You are right, we hate to see our kids in pain or having problems and wish we could take the load off their shoulders.

AMY  I sit in the shower with the very warm water beating on my back and it feels so good.

JUNE  many times on weekends I stay in my nightgown and robe and take it easy. Feels relaxing to me.

JENNY  I would be happy to go shopping in a market again. That was always one chore that I enjoyed because I loved coo‌king and baking. I had a big appetite but now I could go without eating and never feel hungry.

LLOYD  I would love to travel in an RV any time of year. Just to see new places in our beautiful country.

AMY  no snow in the latest forecast in this area this week. Will just wait and see if the weather guessers are right.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up but definitely not "attem".  I didn't wake up until 7 a.m. and I've been doing what one of my friends used to call "doppin' around" ever since.  The way I understand the maning of that is that you might decided to do something and before you get started, you decide on something else and then nothing gets done all day.  That's me today!  I'm just not feeing up to par!

AMY, I thought I told you to keep that snow in the North.  They're saying we're supposed to have flurries for a couple hours today and a major storm on Tuesday.  I have things to do on Tuesday and I don't drive in snow.  Today, I don't mind.  I'm staying in and dopping around all day.

Gloria, the arthritis isn't confined to my hands.  I've chosen to ignore the rest but it's rather difficult to ignore it when your hands don't want to cooperate. I know that's not possible when it takes over and I know some of you have the kind of pain that needs to be dealt with and I feel for you. I pray for everyone's freedom from pain.

I think some of my doldrums are due to January.  I never did like January very much...not even when I was a little kid.  The only thing in January's favor when I was growing up was ice skating.  Now I can't do that any more.  It's almost over now and maybe my head will clear and I'll be normal again.

As I said before, just ignore the venting.  It does help me but you don't have to comment.  I know you all understand.

JUNE, rest and feel better soon!  Maybe you have the January doldrums, too.

Jane, you're not venting..we all get these days. Now, if you had of been here you would have a fit of the giggles. I was out snow blowing and under that snow is ice and lots of it. I was teasing another person that he could make snow angels and down I went.......like a fish out of water I was saying hello to the driveway. My main concern after I checked to make sure all was well , I hoped no one saw me!! I sure scrambled up out of there. Can laugh at it now but not at the time..

Hi Everyone. Just checking in today.  I just don't have the energy to make individual comments.  I am reading the comments and that will be it for today. When my wife was having so much pain from arthritis in her hands she got a hot wax bath for hands.  You heat the wax until it is liquid and hot and put your hands in for a certain length of time.  When the time is up you take your hands out and the wax hardens and will break off and then there are special gloves that you wear.  She got a lot of relief from that but hasn't had to use it for a number of years. She is going to get one sent to her sister who is suffering in her hands with arthritis.

AMY, I've had more than one of those "hope no one saw me" moments.  One in particular, when Frankie was living here, she didn't drive so Cathy brought Kyle's bike over for her to use.  After Frankie was gone, the bike was still here and this old lady looked longingly at it and wondered if she could still ride it.  One day, that wondering got the best of me and I hopped on and headed down the street.  I could still ride it!  At 75 I could still ride it.  The thing I couldn't do was stop riding it.  When I got to the driveway, the bike went one way and I went the other.  Filled with embarassment, I jumped up and looked at the houses around me to see if anyone saw me.  I don't know if they did but no one ever said anything.

The other one was in a lot of fresh snow, I missed the last step on the front porch and went flat out on the sidewalk at the bottom.  Why can't we forget these incidents?  My daughter would probably had me in a nursing home in no time flat if she knew about either of these times.

Good afternoon, subis ib and out ,but near 40 in the sunroom
Larry good to see you come in and post.   You too June. hugs right back to you.  "God is the best doctor and pray is the best medicine"

Jane, when I worked in the hospital we found that the month of Jan. We admitted so many more people with depression. There is no snow in the forecast for the rest of the week Friday is the 1st. of Feb. so we have to think Spring which is the next month  :D

Amy, I guess that is the first thing we do is look around, and the see what damage is done. Although when I  fall I do it right everyone see me it seems.  Like the middle of 5th Avr.NYC, or tripping on the sidewalk in front of Bath And Beyond, with a truck coming, poor fellow scared him almost to death, he just jumped out and picked me up. of course I looked around to see how many people were lookin, then I thanked him :-[

Gloria, I average 4 hours of sleep, although I got6 last nigh. Went to the foot doctor again and he suggest I put a pain patch on my toe and foot. I is all do to such poor circulation, laying down seems to make it worse. I just have to get up and move my legs, I have a pedal exercise machine he wants me to use on and off all day .

Shirley sorry to hear about your DIL's Mom

Gloria de, your fall in NYC reminded me of one I took on Mass Av in Indps in front of the Mesh restaurant.  We (Tom H, niece Erin and I) had had a lovely lunch at the Mesh and as we left I went down on the sidewalk outside.  I could just see all of those people saying "oh, that old lady fell".  A woman tried to help me up but I was in the wrong position.  I rearranged myself, put both arms up and two people took hold.  I said "Now" and they both lifted me up and I was fine.  I don't know why I fell because we have not been back for me to see, but maybe the next time I'm in Indy I'll have Tom H take me back.  I was in my 90s at the time.

Thank you all for the notes of sympathy, I think my DIL is past the worst of her mother's death but know how it hits later. My mother used to say that, "God numbs us for a while"....

Glad you weren't hurt except for pride, Amy.....  when I stepped back off that ladder it was at the end of my driveway near the street where EVERYONE could see me. Good thing it was about dark. I was lucky nothing broke because I really splatted on the concrete, had the can of spray in one hand & the other was still reaching for the ladder so didn't break the fall with my hands at all. I walked kind of funny for a while.  ::)

Most of the time I get 3-5 hours sleep but one night this past week I got 8 hours & another got 9 hours... but that was the morning I woke up with a crick in my back that's still in a twist today. Need to walk it off. Thought today was supposed to be so nice. Coldest mid-50°s I ever saw, wind cuts through clothes like being bare.  :o

Larry, I've never heard of the hot wax.... but I tend to ignore problems until I can't. Right now the hands work or I've found ways to adapt tools to make up for what they used to be able to do.  Several different kinds of jar & can openers, long nose pliers in my kitchen tool drawer, etc. When a knuckle or joint hurts a few days I know it will stop & I'll have a new "knot" where it pained....

I've intended to CALL my doctor's special nurse, she is the one that gets me in in a hurry when needed. I need a whole body check, been years... have been super short winded, the kids noticed when we were walking fast through the parking garages at the hospital, so are after me to find out why.  I want to explain to the nurse why I need to come in to plan how long it will take to check.

I have an appointment with the cardiologist in Feb, routine.... this time an Echo.... but short winded can be caused by other things & need the one time go over. The cardio people just say, "not my department".......... ::) if I ask about anything but heart.

I am terrible about running to the family Dr for a stitch in my head or "did I break my hand?"....  I hate to bother my "family practice Dr" with yearly check ups. He is such a good doctor, thinks I'm the healthiest old lady around & doesn't push me to take any meds since I am so afraid of everything. I tell him I always feel better after seeing him, he gives me a hug & tells me to "keep on doing what I'm doing". After 30 years he knows I'm pig headed & will do what I want anyway.  ::) I like to know what I'm dealing with. My kids just roll their eyes & tell me to "quit telling the doctor what MY diagnosis is".... worked so far, I'm a terrible patient.

By the way, Jane, I still have my bike sitting in the garage, ready to roll. I have to air up the tires now & then but I don't ride across the river anymore since Cas died. He used to worry about me but at least he was here to know if I didn't come home. One time my shoe lace got caught in the sprocket & as it got tighter I couldn't move my foot at all... lucky I could tip the bike into the bank away from the water because I had to take my shoe off to get undone, the bank was soft, no damage, but made me think.......what if.... The bike path gets lots of traffic in nice weather so a few people asked if I needed help but all was okay. It took some getting used to hand brakes after years of stepping back on the peddle to stop. I have not been on it since turning 84, but 83 saw me still riding.

Gloria, I can't think of a way to put horse liniment on my back so will stick to soaking if I get up the energy. I really am getting lazy but do this every winter. Was telling my daughter that "every spring, when we lived out west, I'd be huffing & puffing to reach the next door neighbor's mailbox. We were all on acres & our house sat back 90 feet from the street...but by the end of summer I could walk around the section (which was 2 miles) at a decent pace. We were on the edge of town & highway on one end of our street so some of us women would make the walk & talk in the evenings. Had 30+ houses on our "road", we were the 5th to build so knew everyone.

Larry, I've used up your minutes & mine so will shut up for now. Cats are still not at the door for their supper but I need to wrap up & take the chicken carcass to the river bank before the sun goes down. The sun has melted the last of the snow but tomorrow the temps will go DOWN all day.  >:(

Ouch, Mary Ann... but at least you knew what to do to get you back up. So often when we fall it is because we are rushing or simply not thinking about what we are doing.... my youngest son was always in a hurry & would trip over his own feet & his body not balanced. We teased him by calling him "Grace"....

My neighbor that used to fall so often, his wife would call me for help, but he didn't want us to touch his arms "because his skin was so tender" so we would wait while he gathered himself up by holding on to a chair that she would go get... we would help balance him but he pretty much had to do it on his own. He died last week, hasn't been a year since Sylvia died. I'm sure he had not ever realized how much she watched out for him every day.

I'll check in later, y'all behave till I get back!  Shirley

Amy, from your lips to Gods Ear. I am sick to death of feeling sick. And I hate the fact that I have lost so much weight.....102 pounds. Probably weighed that at 10 years of age. You can probably sense I am NOT in a good mood.I can still shake my bootie if the music grabs me..it's the tickety boo that escapes me.

Gloria, I have spent almost all week in my nightgown. So this morning I took a shower and dressed....didn't go any place except walk the hallway. Short walk.

Janie, I have reached the stage of going to a place in the Apt. and wondering, "why did I come here ?" I have a "trigger finger' in my right middle finger. It locks itself closed up then when I force it, it opens with a pop. Nurse said it was arthritis.

Time to go fix some light supper. I haven't gone down stairs to eat for some time now. For 6 bucks I can have food delivered to my room from our kitchens, and they send so much I usually have lots of leftovers to reheat.

I hopes that we all have a great week ahead of us, I send you Hugs, Love and Prayers. June

June, I am so sorry to hear you still have pneumonia.  I know at our age, it is not a good illness to have.  There are days I want to stay in my nightclothes all day, but I have resisted the temptation.  Tom gets me out of the condo once a week when we go out to eat.  It was only 12 degrees for a high today so you know I did not venture out.  I let Tom get the mail.  He hasn't been feeling well himself, having a sore throat, but he is improving day by day.

Just be sure you check in each day to let us know how you are feeling.

Mary Ann

JUNE, that ain't no fun when you lose the old "tickety-boo"!  Sure hope you find yours pretty soon.

My mother used to say she thought her get-up-go got up and went and sometimes I think mine did, too.

MARY ANN on those days you don't feel like getting out of your night clothes, if they are pjs, and it's cold enough, you could just put sweat pants and a sweat shirt over them.  Then, if you decide to go back to bed, you're ready!  In case you haven't guessed, I've already done that a few times in my old age.

Now I'm going to go to bed.  I need to store up enough "tickety-boo" to be able to get through my shift at Wally World tomorrow.  Good Night Everyfriend.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

This darling little pup had me up before 4 am...not much sense going back to bed but I bet there will be a nap later on.

Just have one appointment for Kyle this morning and it is here in town. Due to the bad weather yesterday friends stayed home (too many white outs) they make come today.

Out of all my not scheduled trips/falls the worst was in Tim Hortons one winter. I was just coming back from the ladies room and down I went. After checking nothing was broke I tried to get up ,only to find the long arm of an OPP (cop) telling me to stay down.I tried to tell him I was ok and he said ambulance is on its way, stay down. After they checked me out I could get up but wanted me to go to the hospital..........nope. I was going home!

Jane, that is saying I also use ,only I add my get up and go went but it forgot to take me!! Have short lines and friendly faces through your line today. We are in for more snow today......oh joy!

Speaking of Joy, where is she?

Better stop or this will be a book.
Enjoy your day everyone and stay warm.....tis -20°F here.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I thought it was cold here at 13º until I read AMY's temp.  BRRRRR!!  We're supposed to get into the minuses this week.  I can't remember temps that low and one of those days, I'll have to be out in it.

My cleaning dynamo is supposed to come tomorrow at 12:30.  If the weatherguesser is right, she'll be in and out before the snow starts but I also have an appointment at 5 and I bet she reschedules.

We're waiting for the doggies boinger for their pill time and they're already getting antsy  There's one behind my chair who's been shuffling for the last 10 minutes.  And the one under the desk perks up whenever I move anything.

I know it will be busy at Wally World today because of the predicted snow.  Anytime the weatherguessers use the word "snow" in their report, people around here check their milk, bread, instant pizza and video games.  I guess they don't want to be shut in with the kids without distractions.  I remember being snowed in with 4 kids between 8 and 13 once and everything they asked for we didn't have.  Finally, the practical one said "Well, what DO we have?"

I'm well stocked so that's not a problem.  I just have things to do that are nagging!  I guess they'll wait!

I hope Everyfriend feels better today than they did yesterday and even better than that tomorrow.  Take care of YOU!  You're important!  Enjoy your day!

Good Morning to the early birds.....Lloyd and Jane and Amy.

Amy,  I  am here !!!

Jane, after reading your message about what the weather predictors cause people to buy,  you forgot the most important thing that people just can't do without........the TOILET PAPER !!!!

It always makes me laugh how the grocery stores are just bombarded when snow is predicted.  It isn't like it will be months before someone can get to the store.  So funny!!!

And, yes, Jane,  our area is supposed to get the same snow storm that is heading your way.  I do not have to go anywhere, so it will not be a problem for me, except, I just don't even like watching it out my window anymore.

I did not get here yesterday.  THe day just got away from me.  And, today, also will be a busy one.  Several things to do this morning, and then I will get my hair done later this afternoon.

I will check back later. Hoping to hear some good or better news from Larry today.

Enjoy your day.

Joy.

A good Monday Morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND from a very ❄️❄️❄️❄️ Mile High City.  We have a good three plus inches and it is still coming down.

SHIRLEY, looking at all of your icons at the start of your message makes me wonder how you are REALLY feeling about today? 🤪😜

Folks around here are getting pretty tired of all of our bad storms days.....me included.  Everyone knows how important the moisture is, but the gloom messes with our spirits😢.

We did go watch Our Kate do her solo, and of course she did a fabulous job.  She got a "high gold" rating and was quite pleased as she is the youngest of all the dancers in her intermediate group and this was her first solo dance.  We are so proud of her.

JUNE, I am sad to read that you continue to feel so poorly.  I just hope and pray that you feeling like you are improving at least some each day!  Pneumonia is nothing to mess around with and I just hope your medical team is keeping a close watch on you❣️

PHYLLIS, I am so sorry you hit the dreaded button and poof, your post is gone.  That is SO frustrating and yes, most of the time you just do not have the strength to try to redo your thoughts.  It is just nice to see your name come up....

I have to run, our DIL just called and she needs us.

Hi Everyone. I am really late posting today as had to go early to have some blood drawn.  Scott take me and I was able to use the transport chair.  By the time he left this morning I was ready to lay down for a couple of hours.  I have decided until I get to feeling stronger I am going to use the small rollator we have here in the house as I am weak and want to avoid a fall.  Hopefully using this will be short term and I will soon begin to feel stronger although my doctor warned me this may be a slow process and I think she was right as have really seen no improvement and have no energy or stamina.  I will go again next Monday for a second blood draw and will see my cardiologist on the 7th.  It was nice to get out this morning as it was bright and sunny and in the low 40's.  Once again I am going to beg off from individual responses to posting but I have read all of them.  I feel for you all up north with the brutal weather hitting you all.

Right you are, Jenn.... first part my brain was disgusted with about everything but a cup of coffee & visiting in here got me thinking & life got better.  Congratulations to Kate. My first piano solo with room full of proud parents (I neglected to tell my mother about the performance).... I got half way through, forgot where I was & folded my music like it was over & got up & walked out. I never went back, either. I did not like to perform & never did. So Kate is way up there in my opinion!

Larry, you are one smart & wise cookie so we will trust you take care of yourself, get better and come back with comments when you feel up to it.

Blow it off, Janie.....   If that doesn't make you feel better, remember how much good it did to stick your tongue out at someone. Try it... bet you end up laughinhg! Hugs...

June, a year or so ago I thought I probably had pneumonia, I had even passed out sitting on a bar stool by the stove (got a little TV there, too). I found myself looking up at the ceiling & almost giggled to think, "I don't remember getting down here". The doctor's office was swamped so the nurse insisted I go the the hospital/clinic a few miles west of me, to have them check my lungs. Had a hard time finding the place so exhausted when I finally got to see a nurse. She insisted I have an X-ray... to which I asked, "can't you just LIStEN to my lungs?"  Naturally, too simple so as we waited for the X-ray machine to be brought to the waiting room, I mentioned slipping off the bar stool incident, just conversation. That nurse was determined I had to have an X-ray on my HEAD... at another hospital a mile away because their unit wasn't for heads. Crazy, I absolutely refused saying I did not bump my head. Still had to sign a release form that THEY were not responsible if anything happened to me! X-ray didn't show pneumonia so I left feeling like I'd been beaten up & worn out. Hope you feel better fast.

Phyllis, this is one of those days in Kansas that would make you NEVER want to come home again. The wind is howling but right now sun shining. Leaves that neighbors never picked up are flying across the pool area... that new cover is so tight it acts like a skating rink for leaves!

Joy, you are SO right about TP being about the main item to need. No more catalogs, don't expect they would "flush". Wonder if any farms still use outhouses.... We had a septic system where we built back in 1967..... that was a royal pain by the time the kids were in their teens. Did not get water & sewer in until about the time we moved away. One thing sure when we moved back to KS after the 2 year hitch in Leawood... my absolute must was "NO SEPTIC SYSTEM". Many new housing additions were still using lagoons & private septic tanks.

Lloyd, hope you don't come down with a full blown cold... I get the feeling you do not take very good care of yourself & we are not as tough as we used to be. Get some extra sleep and tell Nancy I'm eager to meet her in the spring down at Long Shoal Corp of Engineer campground between Clinton & Warsaw. Beautiful place, electricity & plenty of trees for shade. During the winter months the cost with the Golden Age Passport is only $5 per day/night, for electric hook up. Without card it is $10 winter months, so hope you have it! Have to look on their web site to find out the days.

Back to cleaning house, my daughter was past Kansas City a couple hours ago so should be here any time. Need to feed cats before she gets here. She just called, off the turnpike & time to put the tea kettle on.

PRAYERS PLEASE

The news is not good for our DIL.  The MRI reviled there is a tumor in Michele's brain that is causing the weakness....they feel the cancer is back and they put her in ICU and are aggressively giving her steroid until they determine what the plan is.....Michele beat colon cancer a few years back and we of course hoped the cancer was behind her....please pray for our family.

Thank you.

Lloyd:  I hope you had help moving the poor old Bull.

Mary Ann, I wish you live closer to me I think we could have some fun luncheon.

Phyllis, why is it we always lose those long post.

Good evening one and all from the cold,
cold, cold,  rocky coast of Maine.

Jenny,  I am so sorry to hear the bad news
about Michele's Cancer.  Doesn't sound good.

Larry ..  why don't you go buy yourself
a hot rod Rolator, like mine:

I know that it is a wee bit expensive,  but
worth every cent, to have a place to stop
and rest up before moving on.

Plus it is like carrying a puppy...
people just love to stop and chat about it.
I also recommend a life alert to hang
around your neck.

I know just having these two things, makes
me feel safe and  not have to worry
about being stranded with out help or
a safe place to sit and relax.

I know that you know all about this...
but I encourage you so you will benefit
from having peace of mind, and a safe place
to sit.

Have a warm and toasty evening,  Everyone
Sandy

Hello Everyone.  I'm not as tired as I was but I'm still frustrated with WM management.  If I could get a little help from them, I could put in another couple of years.  Without it, I'm ready to throw in the towel.

However, SHIRLEY's advice might help.  Every time I pass one of them who is causing my frustration and making me tired, I'll picture myself sticking out my tongue at them and giving them punch in the mouth and I bet I'll smile...maybe even laugh out loud.

GLORIA DE...you said you wish you could keep up with me.  Sometimes I wish I could keep up with me.

Our snow is supposed to start about 2 p.m. and continue until who knows when.  I have a dentist appointment at 11:40 and my cleaning dynamo is due at noon.  She takes two hours so she should be home before it gets too bad.  But I have another appointment at 5 wish someone who is supposed to come here and I bet she'll reschedule.

The crazies were out in force today.  They bought us out of ice melt and more milk, bread and snacks went through my line than ever.  About the TP, there was some but not an excessive amount.  Snacks were the big thing!

I'm still feeling a bit tired.  I had the two worst registers in the store for my two half shifts today.  I never had less than 5 people in line and they all had FULL carts.  You'd think there were no snow plows and they were going to be snowed in for a month!  Sometimes I wonder how they think!  We used to get snowed in with no warning and we made a game of it with the kids.  The worst time I remember being snowed in was a really ba storm when my husband had to wait for the snow to stop and the plows to make it there.  We all decided that whatever happened with the next snow storm, we weren't keeping him home.  He was a menace!

I think I'll go to bed a bit early tonight.  It's going to be a busy day tomorrow whatever happens.  So I will bid you all a GOOD NIGHT.  Take care of yourselves and don't go out in the bad weather!  Stay warm, dry and healthy.

ALMOST FORGOT....JENNY, my congrats to Kate and my prayers for Michelle.

Also forgot....I gave the site information to a nice lady today and she's going to look us up.  He name is Gloria but when I told her we have 2 Glorias, she said she'd register as "Rita".  I told her to introduce herself first and then come see us in the Soda Shoppe.  Help me watch for her!

Oh, Jenny, I am so sorry to read about Michele.  Prayers, good thoughts and hugs going out for all of you.
I share your thrill at watching Kate perform. My memories of Ellen's first few solos are blurred because I always had tears in my eyes.

Sandy, what color is your Rollator?  Mine is hot pink and has zebra-striped fabric on the carrying "pouch" under the seat.  Figured if I had to have one....I'd make a statement!  :)

Yesterday afternoon was warm enough to open a few windows and let the house air out for about an hour.  Today was cold and windy but not wet.

Had company in and out on all day Friday and Saturday.  Went to church yesterday, came home for lunch and then went to grocery store and to fill the gas tank.  I was glad to have a low-key day at home today.

No matter how many times slick roads are predicted during the winter, every t. v. station will have a video of trucks filling up with sand and de-icer plus interviews with the drivers every time.  Sometimes I think they re-run the same stories every year.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have Pleasant Dreams.

we are home for the night.....Dave is home and the children have been told...they have talked to their mom and she is a rock star at calming their nerves and making them know that she has this handled and will do her best to beat it just as she beat the colon cancer.....the truth is, it is not a good situation at all.  Michele will have surgery tomorrow afternoon.....the doctor will remove a 4cm tumor that is sitting on top of her brain....there is another smaller one embedded in another part of the brain that they will try to treat with radiation as well as a spot on a lung.  It is not a good scenario but she is determined to do her best to whip this as she did her colon cancer....🙏🙏  Matt is 13 and is the one that is most effected by this news....my heart just aches for him tonight.  Luke is 10 and Kate is 9...
I appreciate ALL of your supportive words and I thank you for being here for me.  Michele is 48.
Matt will get his braces off of his teeth tomorrow....a day they have been looking forward to of course.  Dad will get the kids off and take Matt in to the orthodontist.  We will meet him there and he will leave for the hospital.  We will take Matt to the hospitals. To see his mom....mostly for mom to see his million dollar smile, then we will take Matt to school.  Life goes on somehow......

Good morning everyone...

Well, the dance is on Mr SB and I will be jitterbugging a little later one after my tea. Looks to be about 4 inches of new snow out there.

Larry, good to see you in here, no need to make a long post when you're not up to it......just saying hello brightens our day.

Jane, will welcome your friend when she gets here. I am sorry you are having trouble with the management. In this day and age they should respect those with a gleaming work ethic like yours. I have listened to others here say that the new workers don't want to work, take a lot of time off work and no respect for the job. So, your management should be thankful they have you!

Jenny, Michele has her age  working for her.She has already proven she is a fighter and she has a lot to live for. We will all wrap her in prayers .

Matt will be so happy to get those braces off!! He will be grinning from ear to ear...

Callie, windows open? That sounds so nice to have the fresh air go through the house. Can't wait for the day when we can do that here.

Gloria, is MIA. Hope everything is alright.

Joy ,good to see you. People are funny buying all those things thinking they are house bound for weeks!! You are right TP is one that is needed....no more Seas or Eatons catalogues anymore..

Phyliss, don't you just get miffed at the gremlins for taking away your post??

Better get going.

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're up and waiting for the boinger.  I think we might be having a change of plans today.  The snow that was supposed to begin around 2 p.M. was already coming down when I opened the door a little after 6 to let the dogs out.  I don't drive in snow unless I'm already out there and I have to get home.  I'm not and I don't so the dentist this morning will be cancelled an I won't ask Tammy (the cleaning gal) to risk her life so I can be clean so I'll change that.

And I'm pretty sure that if it snows all day, the lady who was coming here for a meeting will reschedule.  That's OK with me because my daughter was also involved in that meeting and I don't want her on the road either.  It good I'm flexible!

JENNY, I'm including your whole family in my prayers for Michele because something like this affects all of you.  And I'm going to put Michele's name on our prayer list at church.  That will get her at least 200 more prayers every Sunday and lots of our parishioners keep the list and use it with their daily prayers.  The Man upstairs will certainly notice that!

Today will be a good time to get something done inside the house.  Now, where shall I begin?

Enjoy your day Everyfriend!  It's yours to do with as you like!

Good morning.  I taped a cover over the touchpad on my computer so hopefully I will not lose this post.  I never use the touchpad anyway...always just the mouse.

Jenny, I am so sorry to hear that the cancer is back for Michele.  Her family and you and Bob are in my prayers.  She beat the colon cancer so she is a fighter and that and the support of all of her family will give her a good chance to beat it again.  I'm praying for her and all of you.

Bad weather is supposed to come in this evening.  They aren't telling us we will get very much snow here but may get some ice.  I'd rather have snow than ice but since I don't plan to be out I'm not going to worry about it.  Pantry is full and a big pot of Lentil and Kielbasa Soup will start simmering later today.  And we have plenty of TP.....all is well.

Shirley, I do so well remember those strong KS winds and I hope you don't blow away.  We have wind here, too, and I don't like it but, at least, it doesn't blow ALL the time.

Sandy, your rollator sounds so spiffy!  Mine is purple....just plain purple.   ::) But, I don't know what I would do without it.

Getting late so I must get going and start my day.  Please be well and safe, Everyone!

The surgery for Michele is scheduled for 3:30 MST this afternoon.  It will be a frightening process, one that is very concerning in its own right, but it is what is necessary to get that **** tumor out of there.  Dave and Michele do like the surgeon and trust that he will do his best to get that tumor off of her brain...God willing.

Your supportive words are SO comforting, and the mean the world to me.  I know the power of prayers work, they have for us so many times, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Yes, 200 more from your kindness, JANE, will surely help to get the attention of the MAN UPSTAIRS for sure.

AMY, Dave was dancing with his snowblower after he got home from the hospital last night.  Bob knows nothing about that BIG machine, so he shoveled paths in the necessary places.  It was 9* out when he and Bob were out there doing it.  I know you are careful, and you know what you are doing, but I have to say, those things scare me!

I must get ready to head off to the orthodontist office.....

Bless you all for your support......I wish EVERYFRIEND a good day.

Jenny

Hi Everyone.  It is already after 11 am and I am still trying to get my breakfast eaten.  I did sleep well last night except for a stint around midnight when I couldn't seem to get enough air in my lungs so got up and sat in my easy chair for an hour or so.  However, I went back to bed and had a good night sleep.  This morning I got up again very short of breath and have been moving very slowly ever since.  I have read all the comments and will only make a few replies today.

First and foremost is the situation that Michele is facing.  I will be praying for her recovery and for the whole family as these things impact everyone and especially the young children and her situation sounds very serious.

June, I am praying for you to overcome that pneumonia.  Keep fighting.

Carol, my cardiologist wants me to limit my fluid intake to just a little over 6 cups a day.  I have always drunk a lot of water so this is a change but am adjusting.  We have a stair lift that was put in right after we moved here just over 4 years so I don't have to climb stairs.

Sandy, I do have a rollator.  It does have a seat on it but I haven't had to use it.  My son has the transport chair in the car and has used it twice when I had to see the doctor and to have the blood drawn.  I can walk in the house and just use it to be sure I don't lose my balance and fall and I hope to get stronger soon where I won't need it.  At this point I really don't need a life alert as am not alone in the house and I keep my iPhone in a case on my belt anything I am up and right on my night stand when I lay down.  However, if a time ever comes when Pat and I are left along we would certainly get such a device immediately as you know I strongly believe in them.

Jenny, dear friend, Prayers have been said and will continue for your Michele. She has SO much need for complete healing. First for her children and hubby...they have been through so much already. May our merciful God cause quit and complete healing so the family life can proceed to normal  life. She is now added to my morning prayers.

Gloria de. do not despair my darling friend...we are tough old Seniors, and know that God is keeping us here for His purpose.

Larry, I finally gave in and went to the hospital vis ambulance....my beloved sons choice, and the beloved nurse here at Rowntree.. Since the pneumonia has not been conquered with medication, they are interested in what may be happening in my lungs...possibly cancer. I spent yesterday at the hospital waiting for a lung scan. bored to pieces, but making good friends with the nurses. The lung scan was easy....interesting...I do not have lung cancer,
I still have pneumonia. They wanted to keep me another day but I refused. Gary talked to the doctor....he wanted me to stay to treat the pneumonia..Gary said I have been treated for 2 months. So I came home the same daylight feeling like I won a battle. Slept like a babe all night long. Don't know what our next step it, but all will be done right here...I refuse to leave my lovely place here, tended by staff that love me and I love in return. I am to limit my water intake also, but they push Gatorade..I need the Triglcerades.

Not very busy in the SS today!  Evryone must be working at staying warm.  I'm hope your efforts are working and you are all cozy and warm and dry.

I'm off to Dreamland.  It's down to 29º right now on it's way to 11 overnight with more snow predicted for tomorrow.  If it starts before 9:15 as predicted, I'll be having an unexpected day off work.  I don't drive in that stuff.

Good Night Everyfriend!  And may God protect us from the elements!

June, sorry you had to make the trip to the hospital but nice to hear the problem is still pneumonia and not cancer..... and that YOU are still in control!  ;)   You do have wonderful care where you are and for sure would not have it quite so good in a hospital.  My compliments to all of your caregivers, they sound like the best of the best.

Oh, burrr, Mary Ann, that is cold!  Been hearing on TV how cold it is everwhere. I think we are to be on the edge of the severe & over the week end even back up to mid 50s! My mother used to frown and say, "this is the kind of weather that kills old folks because the blood flow can't adjust to the changing temps"  Then she would continue on with a warning to the rest of us younger people that "it was pneumonia weather because we take off our winter woolens & the cold air chills our chest & lungs". When Mother was 7 her family all had a flu that left some with pneumonia. It killed her mother and baby sister and a local news paper article about the deaths mentioned that "another child was at death's door" (my mother by name). No antibiotics to cure like we have now.  Stay warm!

Good night, Janie.... I think that is supposed to be our low tonight... but wind blowing makes the feels like way down. I plan to stay home tomorrow & Thursday but things to do on Friday. Hope your day was not as frustrating, that takes extra energy.

Sweet dreams, how about a little of Joan's Angel dust?

The surgery  was delayed a couple of hours but I am so relieved to say it went very well....the surgeon was very pleased.  Now the news gets even better....she woke up quickly with a smile on her face, talking and moving every part of her body!  They anticipated her to have some amount of paralisis and she appears to have NONE!  Tomorrow they will know more and the biopsy report will tell them more about how they will proceed with the other issues.  God heard our prayers and I am so thankful.

Matt got his braces off with no problems and his teeth look beautiful.  He felt so much better after he got to see his mama today.  She is such a positive lady, she had us all feeling better.

Thank you all so much for your continued positive thoughts and prayers.

Sleep well and I hope we continue to have good news tomorrow.

Good morning everyone..
No new snow to deal with (yet) today and a temp of - 15°F so far.
I am listening to the pitter patter of 4 little feet and 4 big feet in the back ground. These two are playing and running about. When Jesse has had enough he will go under something that Babe can't. Lots of fun watching these to carry on.

We are off to the city today and on the way back stopping to pick up a letter from the Dr....to excuse me from jury duty!! :cheer: This has taken a weight off of my shoulders for sure.

Jenny, that is fantastic news!! Michele is one strong lady. Prayers for all coming your way!

June, glad to read they ruled out the C word but Mr P sure has a hold on you. Give him the boot! I am not going to say get plenty of rest as I don't think laying down all the time is the answer.

Larry, good to read you had a good nights sleep. Hope each day finds you feeling stronger.

Jane, I don't care to drive in it either anymore.

Gloria, is still missing....wonder if her computer is acting up again?

Better get things together , now with this pup there is a lot more to take with us .

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 4º right now.  It went into the minuses overnight and it's only heading for a high of 16.  they are saying on line and on the radio that old people should not go out in it and I must say, it took my breath away just standing in the doorway to let the dogs out.  I'm seriously thinking of taking the day off.  I'm waiting to see what's still on my driveway and if going would involve shoveling I'm not going.  I think my age is a factor.  I usually don't try to use my age, but this is different.

JENNY, I was so happy to hear the news of Michele!  She is, indeed a special lady.  I'm sure God holds her in his hands right now.  I will continue to hold her in my prayers until she is well.

I have to feed the doggies and make my phone call to WM to let them know I'm not coming in.  Stay warm everyfriend!

JUNE, mind the nurses and drs.  We want you back to your old self as soon as possible.

In the 20's here this morning.  Not as bad as some of you are having but bad enough for us down here.  Sun is up and shining brightly.  That should help with the temps. and with the spirit.

So glad you went to the hospital, June, and got checked out.  I'm relieved that no cancer has shown up in your lungs and I hope the pneumonia gives up and leaves very soon.

Jenny, that is good news that the surgery went smoothly and recovery was even better than expected.  Now to tackle the other smaller sites that have shown up.  I know she will have good results with the rest of her treatment, too.  Prayers are still going UP.

I made the big pot of soup yesterday and it smelled and tasted so good.  It is "aging" in the fridge now and will be good for a "cold winter's day" supper tonight.  Soup is always good, I think, but even better when it has had a chance to "meld" overnight.

From someone who has been hospitalized with dehydration, Larry, I will add it just takes time.  It is even  harder to overcome if we have to be taking a diuretic.  Lemon Gatorade helped me even though I don't care for the taste of any of the Gatorade flavors.....still, it did help rehydrate me so I just drank it (and shuddered).  ::)

Take care, be well, and stay warm, All.

I read the posts I missed but already tired sitting here so will go lay down again.

Good morning on this sunny morning.  But, it is still so very cold.

It seems this cold spell is over most of the country  Sure hope everyone is keeping warm and cozy.

I did go back and read most of the posts from yesterday.

Jenny, so glad that your DIL's surgery went so well.  She sounds like a very positive gal and that will sure work in her favor,  Hope things will continue to go well for her and her family.

June, glad that you went to the hospital and hope you will be well on your way to a complete healing of your lungs and no more pneumonia.

Larry, glad that you are feeling better.

Gloria, sorry that you have not been feeling all that good, but just keep resting.

Jane, I don't blame you for not venturing into work today.  Better to be safe than sorry.  Hope you will be able to get things right again with the management.

Phyllis, your soup sounds as good as mine is.  I made a big pot yesterday, also, and it sure tasted good last night.  I have a big container for my son to pick up this evening.

We still have some snow all around and our county schools were closed today.  Roads seem to be pretty good.  I didn't hear anything from any of my family yesterday, so I am assuming everyone got home ok.

Good morning, Amy. glad you didn't have to do any shoveling so far this morning. Have a good trip to the city.

I hope I haven't missed anyone, but if I did, I sure hope that everyone will have a better day today, stay warm and safe.

Joy

Hi Everyone.  It is a sunny morning and we are headed to a cloudy afternoon.  It was below freezing last night but we should probably get to 50 this afternoon.  I did have a good nights sleep last night and didn't want to to get up this morning.  I had to take my shower this morning and then lay back down for awhile to rest.  It is almost 11 am and I am just now getting around to eating my breakfast so this will also be my lunch.  Pat just left to go to Walmart to pick up an online grocery order and will put the frozen things away when she gets home and ask Scott to bring in the rest when he come this afternoon.  He will take her to dinner at the Church and bring me home a box meal of what they are having.  I am just too tired to try to write individual responses but let you know that I am still alive if not perky.  Each day I hope to gain a little strength but it hasn't happened yet.  This looks like it is going to be a long period of recovery.

Jenny, so happy to read that the surgery went well and she didn't end up with any paralysis.

June, keep fighting that pneumonia and sure glad lung cancer was ruled out and that you didn't have to stay in the hospital.

Good Morning.....it is bright and sunny one here, although it really was a cold one last night.  I have seen the temperature that many of you are dealing with and I hope you all can stay warm and safe.

I have read all of your messages and thank you all again for your kindness.  We are just elated at the report from the hospital this morning.
Everything continues to be going fantastic with Michele.  She has been up and walking, she had breakfast  and the medical staff is in total awe of how well she is doing.  The pathology report will not be back until Monday and the plan was for her to remain in the hospital until then, but because she is doing so well they may even let her go home tomorrow.  She is such a STRONG lady, that I have to admit I am not surprised really because this is HER...... We have to keep reminding ourselves that this is just the first step.....but I know in my heart we have every reason to believe the next steps will go as well.

JUNE, I am so relieved that you did go to the hospital to be checked out and that all sources continue to say that it is pneumonia that you have.  I hope and pray that you have turned this thing around and will start to feel so much better very soon.

LARRY, the plan at your home today sounds positive .....so good that Pat is able to get out to run the errands and that she and Scott will go to the Wednesday Night gathering and will bring you home your meal.  Continue to rest as you are and feel better my friend.

The news from Arizona continues to worsen for my Dad.  He is really showing signs of dementia and Diane is really under a lot of stress from it.  He called his main doctors office and cancelled all of the therapy sessions as he told them he is just too tired to have them come.  This morning he is back at the spine doctor and they have put him out again and are doing another one of the pain injections that he says are not helping him at all.  I of course wish I could be there to help out, but our plate is full here right now.  I wish my brother would step up to the plate and help out....he is the one that is in charge of EVERYTHING medically and so forth.....you all understand in our generation the SON automatically carries all the rights, even thou Bob and I have been the ones that have always been there for my parents.  My brothers attitude is, if dad needs more care than Diane can handle then he needs to come to Colorado and go in a care home and my Dad is just totally against that.  Sorry, here I go burdening you all with more of my worrisome thoughts.  In all fairness, my brothers wife is a full time job for him as she is on high, high amounts of oxygen 24/7  and he does have a full time job caring for her.  Problem is, he can leave her to go hunting and fishing and they make out fine....so him going to AZ to help my dad out is totally possible as my SIL has a support group to help her out in need.  My bro was not anymore w8lling to help dad out when my SIL was healthy.

Thank you all for your continued prayers.....I appreciate you ALL so much!

Jenny

Jenn, I do understand the highs & lows of emotions.... my heart goes out to you. Such good news about Michele and hope for years of quality life. Then a phone call that makes your stomach go into knots. I am so sorry about your father & concern that medications can take away his strong will and clear thinking.

My father reached that stage and even when all of us knew the thought of a "nursing home" was his worst nightmare, he wouldn't do the exercises that would allow him to stay in his home. Our brother lived in the same town & did a lot for Dad, but he couldn't "take charge". Dad  seemed to want to be tough with his sons....but he'd do a real pity-party for my sister and me. Dad had the hip replacement & came through amazing the doctors until he went home & the exercises with home health care quit. He sat and wanted everyone to wait on him. Any surgery takes exercise & PT, but he wasn't going to do it. I don't know if he thought he would reach the stage of having to give up his home, but there was no other choice, he couldn't take care of himself. He could afford to pay someone to spend the night at his house but that irritated him. He wanted someone around all day to talk to.

Sometimes we can't make things better for them and that is hardest of all. Hugs & prayers for you. Rejoice that your grands still have their mother and she sounds to be a jewel, one tough gal. Don't forget, (and I do keep this inside my Kindle cover.... :) God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.

Good evening, we just had a blinding snow squall. Lasted about 15 min. Suppose to go downto 6 to night.

June, Hope you feel better, glad also you were checked out in the hospital. I have hd the pneumonia shot, and been in the hospital with pneumonia 3 times.

Larry, glad to see you posting, and taking care of yourself. Also pleased that Pat is able to do a few thing with your sons help

Jane, do be careful. I had blackice on my deck this AM

Jenny, read the good news. There were a lot of prays out there for her. I understand how us old people think, so I understand how your dad feels.  We do let out imagination run away with us.  Our arms and shoulders are out there for you to vent on. You also take care

Now I do not know how much longer I can hang in here and there is no assistant living out here. All they say is nursing home. Iam still able to rembele around in here.  It is getting out is starting to be a problem. My neighbors are all getting old also. The lady who cleans every 2 week and takesme out, fell last Sat. so is laid up  for a while, across the street neighbor has bladder CA, Gene next door moved to Tenn. and my other next door neighbor is going to have knee surgery next week. Starting this year,  the senior center does not take you to the doctor, not in the budget!!!! Will only pick you up to go to the center to eat.

And there she blew.... got all done & don't know what happened, but it flew away.

Gloria de.... one of the biggest problems we all face it transportation. Hope you find a good driver!

Gloria, sorry you've been sick all week.... hope you are better tomorrow.

Jenn, I am in awe that your DIL is up & attem already. Amazing!

Amy, good job getting that paper signed by the doctor. No reason for you to do jury duty when so many others available!

Glad you are staying home, Jane.... getting stuck out in these temps would be a disaster.

Joy, I have not played cards for years, always loved to.

Cats had their last meal today & I am heading for bed as soon as I dump the dishwater. I still wash dishes, can't remember when I used the dishwasher & afraid to turn it on now for fear it will "burp that water all over the floor". First one we ever had did that so many times I never got over holding my breath when turning one on. We had hard water at that house, so hard the little "float" thingy had to be wiped off EVERY time it was used. Didn't find the cause until the end of the warranty when I call Sears & told them to send an experienced repair man to fix it or they could take it out! Sure enough, the old man that came knew exactly where that float was & it never overflowed again. Anyway, it is easier to wash my daily dishes than have one more appliance to worry about. I don't have a dish washer in the RV & doesn't kill me to wash the cooking pots & pans. We use paper plates & plastic ware saved from all those carry outs all year long.  I'm rambling, think I'd better post before it zooms away again.....

Good morning everyone...

Slept in a bit and I think my wagon is draggin this morning. Trips to the city tucker me out with all that needs to be done when we get there. Plus now with Jesse we stop more often to take him out for biffy. Right now he is sleeping on my one foot..

Today is a day of phone calls to Dr. plus I want to phone the court house to see if they will accept this letter over the phone or do I still have to make a trip there..

Jenny, thinking of you all and pray there is good news all the way.

Gloria de, what about asking your RH ladies if they know of someone that would drive you for your outings. They may know of someone that needs to make a few dollars but doesn't need a steady job? I used to do house keeping, grounds keeping  and I would drive them to appointments . Worked for one family from 91 -2012.

Shirley, my friend is making cat toys out of hot cup sleeves from a coffee shop....takes them apart, puts glue then feathers ,then rolls them up. These are just temporary toys for them in the humane society pound.

Larry, take all the time you need. Seems to me you are always waiting and doing for everyone else now please be a patient patient :) This has been coming on  for a while and will take a while to be gone.

Jane, good morning...hope all is well there!.

Joy,what card games do you play.? I used to play euchre , cribbage and rummy.

Better go get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone..

It was 18 deg. on the local weather channel in Raleigh when I got up.  I checked all the water pipes and everything seems OK.  I'm thankful for that.  Our good old heat pump hasn't stopped running...thank goodness...and is keeping the house warm.  Sun is just now coming up over the tall trees behind the house and that will help both the temps. and the spirit.

Grocery shopping today, I think, though I'm not enthused about going out in the cold.  I'll probable be pushing the Rollator pretty fast between car and store.  Good exercise for me.

I hope everyone here is staying warm and feeling good...or, at least, better.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I neglected to check out yesterday.  I was in bed and realized that I had not even stopped by the computer to turn it off.  I started to get up and then said, "Oh what the heck?"  And I went to sleep.

We had a -9º over night! and right now it's all the way up to -5!  I don't think the furnace has stopped running for 2 days and the dogs don't even stay out very long.  I called off work yesterday because when I had the door open for the dogs, just standing in the open doorway took my breath away.

I hope everyone is keeping warm and staying or getting well.  I'm in for the day unless I venture out to pick up my eye drops.  I jut might take advantage of the store's delivery service.

Be careful and take care of YOU! You are important to someone!

JENNY  good news that your DIL came out of that surgery so good. Prayers that everything will go as well for her.

AMY  my daughter never needed a doctor's paper to prove she was a caretaker. Happy for you that is all you need.

Once again I read every thing but not up to sitting and responding to everyone. Have a good day.

Hi Everyone.  It is a bright and chilly morning but I think it will be sunny all day and we will get a little above 50 degrees.  I am just going to check in for today as have started the day exhausted.  I give credit to that cup of Chamomile tea for helping me get to sleep last night.  I was so tired at bedtime last night that I forget to drink it before retiring.  A little after midnight I got up and fixed it and sat up for an hour or so and then went to bed a was soon asleep.

Just stopping by to say "Hello"..

It is very cold here also, but the sun is shining and the sky is a bright blue.

I am having a difficult time trying to get warm.  Bundled up and also have the thermostat pushed up.  Hate to see what the heating bill will be for this month.  I don't really care, and glad that I won't have any problem paying it. My summer bills are not that high as I am on the north side of our building and don't get much sun.  So, my higher bills in the winter only are for a couple months, and this year, is an exception.

Amy, you asked what card game we play, and it is called "Hand and Foot".  It is a lot like Canasta.   I love to plat Euchre, but somebody here tried to haven a class to teach it,  and it was different from how I used to play it, and I didn't really care for the way they played.  It didn't catch on, so nobody plays it anymore. I used to play that when we used to go to FLorida.  I have played it over the internet, also.  It is a lot like a game called "500",  which isn't  at all like "500 Rummy", which a lot of people get it mixed up with.  Like I mentioned, it is a lot like Euchre, as you have the Jack's being high and the Jacks are the right and left bower.  It is an old game that my mother and her friends used to play.  THey even used to go to public card games to play it.  I learned to play it years ago when I was young.  Most people have never heard of it and get it confused with "500 Rummy".

I hope all are having a great day.

Joy

Amy, thank you for the good reminder t0 exercise. There were some days when I slept a lot, one day I had nosebleeds and had to walk around with a gauze  plug hanging out of my nose so I stayed confined to my rooms. I'm sure those four legged kids of yours are a joy to have in your home. 'this is the first time in my life without pets of one kind or another, but it would be pet cruelty to have one now.

Larry, I spent just one very long day in the hospital. Had the lung scan. was put back on a uncomfortable gurney and was told I was to stay another day. No way !!!! I raised holy ned and was sent home with a piece of paper that said I refused hospitalization. I will live and die right here in my apartment. Thanks be to God.

Janie, I'm doing it my way, and I am content. The Drs. here are 100 per cent behind me. I will live and die right here in my apt. and my son will call in Hospice if needed.

Phyllis, Thank you for your kind thoughts. I have had 94 good years on  Gods earth, and looking forward to what will happen in the future. I too am on Gatorade and find both the orange and lemon lime O.K.

Gloria dear friend. glad to see you back. We are tough old birds, so hang in there girl.

Thanks Larry. I quit daily showers, back to once a week as in the "old" days. they just tire me too quickly and I don't want to faint, as I have done before...sitting in the shower,,,

Time for lunch......

update from Dr. Dave this morning.....

Here is an update. I am at the hospital with Michele, and her medical team has already been by. They are waiting for some blood work but remain in awe of Michele, her infectious positivity and her ability to will herself to get well. If all goes according to plan, she will be discharged later today.

That is not the end of the story. We will be meeting with the oncology team in about ten days, and Michele will have a gamma knife procedure to the other spot in her brain on February 15th. She is confident that she has this and will continue to have great news to share with our friends and family.

We apappreciate  the overwhelming love and support. We will continue to keep you updated on her progress. Thanks and love to all.

Michele and David

Latest update.....Dave got Michele home about one hour ago.

As you read in Dave's note they have scheduled the next surgical treatments or the 15th of Feb.  she will meet with her oncologist a week from tomorrow and he will be the one treating the liver and lung issues.  The medical team is moving forward with treatment as they are certain as they can be that this is a cancer mastisized  (spell) from the colon cancer.  The pathology report due back on Monday will tell for certain.  I think they will do the gamma knife procedure no matter what....malignant or not.

Oh my......

Thank you AGAIN for your continued positive thoughts and prayers🙏🙏🙏

I hope EVERYFRIEND is doing well and keeping warm.

Jenn, what a sweet thing for David to do, to take time to thank everyone for the prayers. One thing this group has to spare.... are prayers!  I did stop and think about the fact that.... how is it that your GRANDS are the ages of my GREAT-GRANDS???? How did I get so much older so fast? :-\

I've stopped in here today quite a few times, have the laptop sitting on the end of the table in the "family kitchen".... that we created by combining the 2 rooms. I got veggies cleaned & cut up for Andy's company that flew in today for the Sat. funeral of their mother. All meals are planned but I'm usually the one that remembers how good fresh cut veggies to munch helped as we met around the kitchen table mourning for our parents.  Andy mentioned that "any leftovers will be roasted over the grill" tomorrow night as his son-in-law is grilling various meats for them all. This is his speciality.

In case I don't get back tonight, sweet dreams to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Jenny, good news is always a welcome to read. Michele has the right attitude in dealing with this ,bless her heart. She is one trooper to be reckoned with. Prayers for all..

I am going to call it a night, my eyes don't want to watch tv so off to bed we go. So far, I do get a "space" in the bed but I can imagine when Jesse is bigger it will be every man for himself

Still bone chilling weather here with warmer weather on the weekend...I hope!

Nite..

Good evening just lost a post as I did not check someone else was writing. will try again. it went from 6 to 16 today. To morrow I have a doctors appointment, so do have to go out,  Rima will take me, then she will take me shopping wherever i want to go. Next week she goes in for knee surgery. I think I will go to Target.

Joy, hand & Foot use to be one of my favorite card games. We use to play it till after Midnights on Saturdays. Our Wed. Card club played Michigan Rummy every Wed. There were6 of us. We played at one of our homes, and had coffee and cake after. that club lasted about 10 years. I am the only one left of the group  I learn to play a lot of different card games when i visited Fla.

Larry, Ovaltine is my drink, when I get up at night. I also was raised on that and orange eggnog I am also 95, so row egg I guess didn't hurt me. Would more oxygen help you. I sleep with it all night, and my doctor signed for me to get that little 2lb. I can carry around with me when I feel I  need it.

JUne, I agree with you, just let me go my own way.

Amy, that is a good idea about RH.  this group I have been in for nearly 20 years. somost of them are in there late 70 and 80's.  I have a cribbage board that my mother gave us 75 years ago when we first got married. Remember in those days we had a radio to listen too,  and play games  I think we were happier then, then young couples are to day

Just checking in before I hit the hay and I'm glad I did.  JENNY, your Michele must be a very special lady.  She's not going to let this get her down!  And it sounds like your son is a good match for her.  Together they can face anything!  You must love them very mch!

Well, I'm one that is not sorry to see January end!  I never did like it very much and I'm glad it's over.  We're one month closer to Spring and I can't wait.  Stuff happened all month long.  February has to be better!

And now I'm off to bed.  They're coming in the morning to get my car startd so I can make it to the gas station and then to work at 10.  Nothing else bad can happen in January.  There's only about an hour of it left.  Good Night All and may God bless us, every one!
