Q. What's the difference between a jeweler and a prison guard?

A. A jeweler sells watches, and a prison guard watches cells!

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means  the most to us, we often find that it is the one who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, has chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand.
The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.
Henri Nouwen

Hi everyone on this first of July. Where has the first half of this year gone? It looks like we are to have a very nice day with some sun this morning and some partly cloudy this afternoon and a low chance of rain but it's going to get hot up to 95 later today.

I am trying to get an early start  posting to the discussions as  yesterday couldn't stay awake but so far haven't fallen asleep but my eyes are getting pretty heavy. . I  woke up about midnight and Pat was waiting for me so that I could do some bug hunting. She had seen a big water bug or something like that and she doesn't like bugs, to say the least, so I spent the next hour or so looking through the pantry and while I was doing that I got rid of a lot of big boxes of soda did some re-organization of it but found no  water bug or whatever. I told her the bug was more afraid of her than she was a bit but she wasn't buying that.  Maybe it'll show up later today.  I don't blame the bugs trying to get in from the heat out there but they're not gonna hurt us whether   water bugs or palmetto bugs or whatever they are. It is now after 3 AM and I have gone back to bed. . I told Pat that I'd probably spend most of the day in bed here either sleeping or using my laptop and just getting some extra rest. I'm not feeling as strong as I did yesterday although yesterday was a very good day.

Amy, Pat also bought an extra ring for each of the Instant Pots and puts the used one in the dish washer, which seems to do a good job.  She also has the spring pans and I think all of the different accessories.

Michael, a big belated Happy Birthday to you and I hope you did something special to celebrate.  I don't think we have ever asked you very much about yourself or your family and unless it is described in your profile we won't know unless someone knows you personally. If you care to share I expect we would all enjoy knowing more about you beyond your great capability as a webmaster.  It sounds like you had a very nice time and you told us quite a bit about you in that posting.  I sure wouldn't want to pay that water bill.

Bubble, really nice banners you shared to get us started for July. I need to heed the quote from Henri Nouwen. I think there is a fine balance between trying to be helpful based on our own experiences in life and getting too carried away with trying to help and I certainly stepped over the line with Jackie, which I really regret and hope she can forgive me for doing so.  What a bright and cheerful banner you made for Oldiesman's Birthday.

I almost made it without falling asleep but did have to take a little nap and now feel refreshed.

Good morning everyone..

Crow can stop hollering now, I put his feed out. Listened to the fireworks last night and strangely enough it didn't bother Babe, which it normally does.
May try to get the weeding done today. The highways will be plugged with folks going back home, good place to stay off of.

Bubble thank you for the new start page and posting the photos for Shirley.

Larry, hope you have a great day, stay cool 95° is not nice to be out in.

Gloria, I love cookies and cold milk. I must admit I cheated and bought cookies yesterday. I did have good intensions of baking but took Kyle for a drive instead.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning!  We had a very red sunrise so may have some wet weather again today.  Raleigh got hit again yesterday with high winds and heavy rain.  It got dark for awhile here but no rain.  Hot today but a few degrees cooler than yesterday.

Larry, I had to call for David, the bug killer in our house, night before last to try to get a big wood roach (that is what we call a palmetto bug here in NC).  He usually can't get them because they are so fast but he caught this one and took care of it.  Just like your Pat, I hate them.  I have a contract with pest control to come every few weeks and spray all around the outside of the house to try to keep them away.  Also, they will spray around the inside if I ask them to.  That is one of the "joys" of living in the South, isn't it?

I haven't bought extra Instant Pot sealing rings yet because I just soak them in vinegar and baking soda and that seems to take care of any lingering odors from what was cooked.  I did order a cookbook yesterday that will be here today.  Hoping it will give me new ideas to try.  The Beef Braciole yesterday was delicious and so easy to do.  It will be a repeat if and when I find it at the meat counter again.  Shirley, back in Ks. they were called Beef or Veal Birds.  Why they are called that I have no clue!   :-\   BTW, love the pictures of Colorado even though they made me so homesick.  We used to picnic by the Big Thompson river so often, way back when.

Happy Birthday, Michael. I'm sorry I'm late, as usual.  Your day with your family sounded just perfect to me.

Laundry day today.  It seems to come around so often.  Take care, everyone.

A BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHAEL!  It was nice to learn a little about you.  Until now, you've just been a name and an entity that kept us going when we were too dumb to do it ourselves.  Nice to know you!

Good Morning to all my friends!  I've noticed that I wasn't very active in here yesterday.  I didn't even bid you all good night.  It was a busy day and among other things, I made a jar of pickled peppers.  I'll be trying them today and if they're good, they'll be on my canning list.  I ran across the recipe when I was looking for something else.

I also made a decent supper for myself last night....Turkey meatoaf, sweet potatoes and fried radishes.  It was pretty good.  I put some of the leftovers in the "Hidey Hole".  We do have a microwave in here, don't we?

SHIRLEY, I'm so envious!  I think camping is the one thing that I miss the most these days.  If I fall asleep on the porch with the birds chirping and the breeze blowing, I think I sleep better than anywhere else.

I'm taking note of all the things you're saying about the instant pot and when it gets here, I'll check over the notes and make a trip through the internet to check out all the accessories available.

Now I have to make a phone call and get myself ready to greet my public at WM.  Wish me smiles.  I wish you all the day of your choice.  It's yours!  Do it your way!

Good morning everyone, for a change I woke not tired. Yippee. Gonna be a good day, I look forward to my regular CNA at 12. Will be good having her back and getting a good back massage. That always helps and my back feels better for several hours. Of course she will be talking my ears off about her vacation. Will be worth it.

JOY  I dread going anywhere these days, I rather stay home and rest when I need it. I do enjoy getting out once I am on the way.

SHIRLEY  I will try and get my CNA to try that with the towel after I get a new heating pad. The one I had was so old I threw it away. How about a couple of hand towels? I only have those huge bath towels.

AMY  vinegar and baking soda are 2 thing I use a lot of, no poison there. Washing kitchen with vinegar cleans good and keeps ants away, too.

BUBBLE as always love your graphics, Thank you for the new page to fill up. Thanks for the link to Shirley's photos.

SHIRLEY  wish I had been there with you. that water looks pretty lively.

LARRY  hope you enjoy today. Hopefully the bug Pat saw went back outside.

AMY  since I can no longer make cookies I have to get bought ones.

PHYLLIS  for all the talk here about heavy rain and thunderstorms here we had a few brief periods odd of rain in the late afternoon.

JANE  only those with smiles in your line today.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyone from the warmer
and overcas rocky coast of Maine.

I have the AC on this morning ...
So it is dry and cool in my apartment.

It  was only a couple of years ago
that I bought the Instant Pot...  I
used it for a few months but didn't
get enough use out of it, so I gave
it to my Daughter Kelly..

Not sure what it is doing right now..

I enjoyed it a lot.  But it mostly
just sat on my counter,  so I let it go.

Funny how a lot of people are
getting them and loving them
today..

Merry Monday and Happy July

Belated  :happybday: , Oldiesman.  You really are "The Man" for us "Oldies" and we appreciate all you do.

Shirley,  loved the pix of Chalk Creek.  Loved roaming around those areas when we lived in the area.  Also loved being "out in the hills" all day and sleeping in our own beds at night.

Been a busy few days around here!

#1 son picked me up after work on Wednesday.  First time I'd been anywhere overnight in a very long time - and then I stayed three nights at his house!

On Thursday,  dil and I had a "project".  Back story:  She is a quilter and has enjoyed making "tee shirt" quilts for several people since she retired.  Several weeks ago, she/I went through family quilts I'd inherited and she made arrangements for us to talk to a member of the OKC Quilters Guild about them.

So - on Thursday, we loaded up 12 quilts and met with Lorraine, a 91-year-old Delight who still drives her pickup and knows more about quilt history/identification than you can imagine.

I hadn't made notes when the quilts came into my possession but took LOTS of notes as Lorraine identified patterns and interpreted fabrics, color, types of material, etc.  that put the construction around certain dates (mostly the 1930's - 1940's).
I didn't know who made any of them but, from Lorraine's information, was able to "guesstimate" which branch of the family each one might have come from - some from my side and some from late hubby's side.

On Friday, Mandi and I matched quilts to my numbered notes and pinned a label on each one.
Now I'm going to write up the information and make a label giving family, pattern and dates that Mandi will machine stitch onto fabric and then stitch onto each quilt.

On Saturday,  son and I "shopped" our way back to my house.  I now have a new microwave (old one "bit the dust" and not worth trying to repair) and a new computer (son decided it wasn't worth trying to upgrade Windows 7 on my current one...and I agreed).

Installation of microwave and set-up for new computer scheduled for later this week.

Had a bunch of business waiting for me when I got home.  Did the "homework" yesterday afternoon and took care of "delivering" some things this morning.

Now ready for some Recliner Time.
Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day

Amy, I saved your IP recipe link for Tom.  He has taken cauliflower and chicken broth and whatever else he chooses and fixes mashed cauliflower for mashed potatoes.  Very tasty.

Callie, you surely were busy at least in the quilt department.  I have quilts and comforters that both my mother and grandmother made.  My double wedding ring quilt was very much used and now hangs on my wall.  I have washed it and some of the innards have come out, but they were that way before I washed it.  It has been hanging on the wall for several years and needs some cleaning now.  I probably would be better off if I had it cleaned, or washed professionally, then stored.  My paternal grandmother made it for me in 1934.  I was going to attempt a quilt, using a sewing machine (!) but never got started and I certainly will not do so now.

Lots of smiles in my line and an invitation to join a "gentleman" to go skinny dipping in his pool.  I declined!  I wonder why?

Did a little shopping on the way home and stopped at my son's store to find out if he had talked to the Dr. since his last test.  He said he tried and the dr. wasn't available.  The dr. called him back and he wasn't available.  He said he's going to try again this afternoon.  As I left, I said "Call me tonight".  He answered, "Why? Are you changing your name?"  I said "call me and tell me what the dr. says."  His answer..."That's too long.  I think I'll just stick with MOM!"  What do you do with a kid like him?  I hope he gets it back from his kid, in spades, someday!

I think I'll go close my eyes for a bit!  There really isn't anything around here that I want to look at right now.  Hope you are all having a good one!  Keep it up!

WELCOME 🍑 J U L Y 🍉

THANK YOU BUBBLE, for our nice new SS.

SHIRLEY, I 💗💗 the pictures of your camp and so wish I could have visited with you and seen this in person.  I know you had a wonderful time.

Raining here right now, but it should stop soon and we can get out to do some shopping.  We are leaving tomorrow morning to head to Vail to join our family.  I just can not stay home and miss being with them all.  Next week we are back to helping out with the children as Michele will have chemo on Monday.

CALLIE, you really had some fun time with your family last week .  How nice to be able to chat with someone so learned about quilts. I bet AMY would have loved to be there with you to hear what all the lady had to say.  Glad you got your new microwave and a new computer....hope all goes well getting them both up and running.  Did you see the nice detailed picture of Leadville and info that was with it?  Hope so, as it sure is nice.  I snagged it to send to my Dad as he is always interested in anything from there.

I, too, want to wish you a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHAEL.  I enjoyed reading about your plans of the day and enjoyed knowing something about YOU.

JANE, I hope your son calls you to let you know what he finds out after speaking with the doctor.  My sons do the same thing to me.....tease me and beat around the bush!  They know we care, but I ca; appreciate they do not want to worry us! HOWEVER, we worry even more when we do not know!  WHAT, no skinny dipping with the customers?🙀🙀

GLORIA, I know you were happy to see your CNA.

THANKFULLY we do not have any of those kinds of bugs here in Colorado, but we have spiders and I react the same to them as I would a roach, by any name!  Poor LARRY, up in the middle of the night searching for one of them!

PHYLLIS, I smiled at your thought of sweet memories of camping on the Big Thompson💞💞

Son Kurt told me the closed the bridge going to his area in Vail as the water in Gore Creek got so high on the bridge.....it was really rolling when we were there last week!  Goodness, I hope they do not get cut off from the road by both bridges being closed to high water!

I must get out to shop.

Enjoy the rest of your afternoon EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

Callie I would have loved to be with you and listen to what was said about the quilts. Did she tell you ,you should insure the quilts?

Mary Ann, you're welcome. Hope Tom finds some good recipes in there and you can let us know!

Jane, glad you had lots of smile.  Gosh, skinny dipping, bet he wanted to you bring your own towel too!!

Enjoy your evening everyone..

He wasn't bad looking for an old guy either.  He had a very neatly trimmed, beautiful color gray beard and a full head of hair.  And he looks like he gets in a lot of swimming!

I'm just about ready to throw in the towel on this day.  Tomorrow will be a busy one.  I'm canning pickled peppers and making a trip to the farm stand to get cherries for jam and for brandied cherries.  They are almost over in this area.  Next week will be black raspberries.  Today, I bought a box of cherries to eat and I've demolished about half of them.

I think I'll see if the doggies want to go out and then hit the sack  a little early.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a good tomorrow.

LLOYD, they look like pansies to me too!

Good morn‌ing everyone. had a call from DIL yesterday inviting me for supper, son did not know about it. It was a small family gathering for my oldest son's birthday. today he is 68. I can still remember watching fireworks from the hospital window on the 4th. Seems hard to believe it was that many years ago. First time I saw my almost 4 year old great grandson and he was telling me all about their vacation in Hawaii. They left there by ship to Vancouver and that was the part he talked about more, he liked the ship more than the sight seeing in Hawaii. What a chatterbox he is. My CNA was here yesterday, back from her vacation and was great having her back. The ones I had when she was gone left much to be desired. One didn't even know how to wash the few breakfast dishes I had, had to wash them over.

SANDY  yesterday was a beautiful sunny day with bright blue sky-low humidity. If all summer days were like that I would like summer.

CALLIE  looks like you had a busy few days. Hope now you can get to be a couch potato for a few days.

JANE  wow bet you thought that man who asked you to go skinny dipping was "off his rocker"?  Was that the most weird invitation you ever received? So you get smart alec remarks from your son? My oldest one is good at that.

LLOYD  looks like a pansy but never saw ont growing on a vine. At least it looks like it is on a vine.

AMY  thought is was a pansy, too but it lo like it on a vine.

JENNY  oh yes I was a happy camper getting my CNA yesterday.

JANE  after going out to my son's yesterday I was bushed and in bed by 9pm so am up very early this morning.

Think I will go make my breakfast, getting hungry.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Thanks, AMY!  I remember when that song went around but I had forgotten it until I saw it again!

I'm up and attem today.  I have to call the farm stand around 8 a.m. to have them hold cherries for me.  I need enough for a batch of jam and to make brandied cherries.  That will pretty much take the rest of my free time this week.  Today I have to deal with the peppers I bought at the farmer's market on Sunday.  I'm canning pickled peppers and "Peter Piper" isn't around to help me!

Right now, Annie is telling me she has to go and it's becoming urgent.  So I'll wish you all a good day and I'll be off to do my chores!

Good morning! Supposed to be another hot one here.  This is turning out to be a very uncomfortable summer and traditionally our hottest months here are July and August.  I think it will be awhile yet before those nice cool days come back.

My mother also quilted.  That is, she did the piecing and local women did the actual quilting.  I have a Sunbonnet Sue quilt that is all pieced with remnants of dresses she made for me when I was just a toddler.  Unfortunately, it is in bad condition so I don't keep it out.  The last quilt she made was an appliqued quilt of Water Lilies.  It was quilted by the ladies of a church quilting group, all hand stitched and is beautiful.  It won awards at quilting show.  It hangs on the wall in my family/den room.  I have several hand made quilts that I have bought over the years and I never use them.  I should make use of them.  No one in my family wants them when I'm gone and the materials that were used, many from feed sacks bought at the local feed store, just wear away with the passing of time.

I took a quilting class and tried quilting but found very quickly that it just wasn't for me.  I loved weaving but finally could no longer dress the loom because I couldn't get down to tie up treadles, etc.  Then, knitting, cross stitch/embroidery, and crochet.  I really miss weaving.  Just the repetitive action of "throwing" the shuttle was very soothing to me.  My beautiful floor loom sits unused in a corner upstairs.

All is OK here.  I hope it is for all of you, too.

Hi everyone on what is going to be a very hot day here in South Carolina as we expect to get up to about 97 today by late afternoon. It looks like it's going to be a nice day around here as Pat has had a good night as did I. She was able to go to bed fairly early for her and I haven't heard her coughing like she has been the last few days and I think she's just generally feeling better and that sure makes me feel better.

The aid called a little after 8 am saying her early appointment had cancelled and that she was on her way. to help me with my shower then I will have free time until about 3 o'clock this afternoon when the Comcast technician should be here to fix my Internet problem. I called yesterday and explained to the tech exactly what had been happening at this house for the last 4 1/2 years thinking that we had a problem with the equipment but realizing that changing the equipment  didn't solve the problem. I told him in a logical way what have been happening and he said he agreed with me in every step that the tech, who was young really didn't know what he was doing as couldn't even put the plug in the wall straight. I told the tech that I I was not going to get up and do a lot of trying to get the back online that we've done so much in the past and I simply wanted somebody to come out here and fix the problem. He was able to find a spot this afternoon and will have a tech here as I indicated above.

So I am expecting to enjoy a nice afternoon of rest and listening to  some beautiful music and also switch over to Willy's Roadhouse on XM radio which I enjoy because I like the old-time country songs and there's some commentary that goes along with a lot of the songs that provide some interesting background of the people involved with Willie and other country stars. I had my breakfast late so will just have a light lunch, probably that Dilly Bar that Scott just brought me (I hadn't expected to see him today so that was a great treat.

I have taken care of a load of laundry that was basically my things anyway and put them away, emptied the dishwasher and put the dishes away and now we have another load being washed. . I realized last evening that I can get down my new ramp in the garage by holding on the nice railing we have and using the cane and then I have the fold up aluminum walker out in the garage and I'm going to keep  at the bottom of the ramp and it won't be necessary then for me to use a walker to get down the ramp as II can use the aluminum one to get over to the car and it should make getting in and out of the car much easier as well as not having to take the walker with me. We will have the transport chair in the truck so it will be available if needed. We have some plans for tomorrow that I will give me a chance to test them out.

It seems that everyday is a different adventure as  I had no idea that today would turn out as it has so far.

Judy, it sounds like you made a wise decision in getting out and taking pictures and keeping Zeke from getting too stressed.

Ellie, yes I am a touch typist and love to type.  My dad had an old Underwood typewriter with those round keys.  Before I was eligible to take typing in high school, you had to be a junior or senior, I put adhesive tape over the keys and then started typing.  As a professional I wasn't allowed to type on the job.  Finally when computers were introduced I was finally able to type my writing at work and it was much more efficient. In this day and age with the computer I expect there are many men who are touch typists but also a lot of one finger typists.  I am sure your husband knows a great deal about planting.  Sometimes we men do know what we are talking about although if you see men represented on many TV shows we are bumbling fools.
]Jane, you have earned the right as well as the need to take things easy.  That is also my goal for Pat with her bad back and feet. As long as I am able I intend to not be an invalid as I enjoy accomplishing something every day but I also now have he freedom to do or not to do what I want and it gives me a lot of joy and peace of mind. We don't go to the mailbox each day.  With the USPS app we can see what is being delivered so have options.

I am having a terrible time trying to post as keep falling asleep.  Guess not a bad thing but do want to post for today. I am going to read the posting since yesterday but not try to post to everyone so I can finish my nap.

I made a trip to the local farm stand this morning to get sweet cherries.  I'll be making some jam with part of them and the rest will be brandied cherries.  I really like them and so do some of the members of my family. So they'll be Christmas presents as well as snacks for me when the snow flies.

Today I made the pickled peppers.  I don't know how they'll be since this is the first time I've made them in a long, looooooong time and this is a different recipe.  Peter Piper never showed up to help so I did it all myself.

Tonight I'm giving myself a luxury.  My friend and I are going to the movies.  I even forget what we're seeing.  She made the arrangements and is picking me up around 6.  We always have a good time together.  I think we talk the air blue around us!

Tomorrow, I'll start pitting the cherries and getting them ready to do the actual work on Thursday.

LARRY, it sounds like you're getting everything within reach and ready for use.  It's nice to hear that you feel like doing some of the household chores again.

I'm going to go get myself ready to go.  My friend will be here around 6.  Enjoy your evening Everyfriend.

CALLIE, I forgot to mention that I was intrigued with your quilt adventure.  I still have a doll size quilt that my grandmother made for me one Christmas.  I think I was about 5 or 6 and Santa brought us brand new (refinished by my grandfather) doll beds.  My mother made little mattresses and my grandmother made the quilts and a whole wardrobe for our baby dolls including velvet coats and hats!.

Goodness, the city was hot!! We just did what we had to and skedaddled home. Took the pup in to get his nails clipped and the girl did a nice job. Well worth the money and it saved me a wrestling job.

Jane, have fun at the movies. You deserve a time out :)

Enjoy your evening everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We had a lovely soft shower over night and there is more rain expected this afternoon.  The grass and everything else is green but the farmers are beginning to complain about not being able to get all the growing things picked and stored.  I don't ever remember having this much rain this late into the season.

I'll be off to greet my public at Wally World this morning.  I hope I have lots of smiling faces through my line.  It sure makes the day a happier one.

The Pickled Peppers are sitting on the "Admiration Shelf" accepting all the comments I make as I pass them.  I try to tell them every so often how beautiful they are and how proud I am of them for standing there looking tempting!  I do that with all the canned goods.  I give them their "be proud and happy" day or two before I put them away!

I hope I have enough energy left when I get home from work to pit cherries for a while.  That's all I'm planning for today.

Last night when my friend and I went to the movies we got a schedule for this month.  This is the theater that was built new a couple years before I moved here and that was 1946.  When it was about to go out of business due to the mall theaters, Bucknell University purchased it and made memberships available to anyone from town who was interested.  Many people were.  They have regular movies and they also use it for training movies for a couple of their classes.  When they have the training movies, they are also open to the public....sometimes free.  They are having an Alfred Hitchcock series this summer beginning next week.  The entire sries is free to anyone who wants to come.  My friend and I decided that we will try to see them all.  Next week is "The Birds".  My two favorites will be later on.  They also have free movies in the afternoons in the summer a couple days a week for the kids.  This is the best thing that could have happened to the movie theater!  They also restored the interior just as it was when it opened with one exception.  The seats are now in Bucknell's school colors....orange and blue.

I'm off to get ready for work.  Enjoy your day and make it your own in every way.

Good morning, Jane ,  Amy  and Lloyd.  Pretty sunny morning after a terrible thunder storm last night.  We were playing cards, and I kept praying the power wouldn't go off.  I would have been stuck without the elevators not working. But, after about 20-30 minutes of heavy downpour, strong winds and black skies, it did slow down. I think it rained during the night, also. Just a few blocks down the road from me, several utility poles toppled over and were laying across the road along with a lot of wires over the railroad tracks blocking all the traffic. I read this morning where one lane was opened, but still a lot of cleaning up to do.

I have a grocery order coming between 11 and 12, so I need to get myself moving.

I will try to get back later.  Hope everyone will have a good day.

Sleeping in feels good........unless you have a million things to do. That is ok ,as there is always another day to do it in. :) We went to town to pick up milk and oranges and Jane, can you believe the cherries were calling my name!! Came home with 4 bags  of cherries that are now pitted and in jars, last batch is in the beautiful canner!! I am listening to the pop pop pop of the lids now.

Joy ,that must have been some storm to topple the poles over, glad you are safe and sound.

Gloria is MIA unless I have missed her post.

Phyliss, sad that your loom is no longer used.  We get away from different hobbies as we mature.

Better go see what I can rustle up for supper later.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Well, my Instant Pot arrived!  Unfortunately, someone mixed up the labels and I'm guessing it arrived in Buffalo, NY in place of the Bissel Spot Cleaner that arrived on my doorstep.  It's going to be a little difficult to cook anything in a Bissel Spot Cleaner and I bet Alexandra is wondering how in the heck to get rid of those dang spots with an Instant Pot!

I called the company and I spoke with someone with a far eastern accent and she wanted me to return my package to my nearest store.  I told her I can't do that.  It's too far for me to drive with my bad eyesight and I don't have anyone to take me right now.  Then she said that she would reorder the IP for me and I don't have to return the Cleaner.  That sounded like a deal but she hastened to add that the IP was no longer available.  Then it was and she ordered it for me and I'm to keep the cleaner.  I'm not going to open it until I see my next bill and the IP arrives.

AMY, are you trying to make me look like a "slug-a-bed" getting your cherries and getting them canned all in the same day?  What did you do with your pickled peppers?  And who helped you with the cherries?  Since yours are all done, you can run over here tomorrow and help me!

Shirley, take the nap while you can!  You never know when you'll get another chance.  And if your kids are around, the chances are slim!

JOY we got the gentle rain but no thunder and lightning.  However, the lights blinked off twice and I had to reset everything that doesn't reset itself.  Must have happened again during the night because the clock on the dresser was blinking again this morning.  That must have been a traffic nightmare with all those wires down.

Guess I better try to get something done before I run out of time and steam at the same time.  Enjoy the rest of your day Everyfriend!

Jane, oh dear, I sure hope they straighten out their mistake!!
Well, you see, Peter Piper picked the pickled peppers and so he took them all home which is fine with us as we don't eat pickled peppers.
I slept in this morning ,I mean really slept in, it is a wonder Kyle didn't send for an ambulance as I never sleep in that late.
I have a little gizmo that takes the pits out 6 at a time so that makes the job a lot easier.

Just have to tidy up the kitchen and may go water the garden again tonight.

Jane, I think Larry had something similar happen with a delivery, however, there was just one item.  The item went to his son's address instead of Larry's, but it was a large TV screen and they were lucky it fit in Scott's car.

I drool over the things you women can and make; they sound so appetizing and good.

Amy, with our temperature (88 degrees) you'd want to water all day long.

Hi everyone.  We are in for a really hot day up to about 100 degrees.  With the heat factor yesterday it got up to 107.  I was sure glad I did not have to get outside yesterday.

Yesterday was a great day and then it became a very sad day when we got the call that our dear friend Doris had passed away from the effects of Alzheimer's.  We had become wonderful friends and she and her husband were surely used by God as his angels' to  us in a great time of need.  The Alzheimer's destroyed her very quickly.  Then I heard from the daughter of my best friend that he was not dismissed from the Mental Health Unit at the hospital and what is going to happen is still undecided.  My concern now is not for him but for his wife and two daughters and his son.  Fortunately I know Betty is a very strong Christian woman and I am sure she is seeking God's guidance and knowing that God does provide the answers.

We had a plan for today so Pat could get her hair cut and I was doing to do some shopping if I could get a riding electric cart.  Scott had gotten up early and was at Lowe's and called me and on the spot we decided to go to Walmart then and he came out and it was cool and no problem getting the electric cart. It worked great and that is what we will do at least during the summer.  Pat had forgotten to put in her food order so that wasn't going to happen until tomorrow so I could buy things without  out concern of duplication.  Then she called the Beauty shop and found the stylist she wanted was off on vacation.  So suddenly the day has really switched around.

]I have developed a tooth ache and just called and was able to get an appointment at 1:15 Monday, the first appointment after lunch.  I think that involves a bridge and a crown so will have a decision to make about what I want to do.

My lovely lady volunteer was here for about and hour.  The volunteer supervisor wasn't able to make it.  I will read all of the postings since yesterday but am going to bypass general commets today.  Tomorrow should be quieter but have to stay flexiable.  Pat is fixing ribs in the crock pot for our dinner this evening and a nice corn salad and all of that about did her in.

Larry, I am sorry for the lose of your friend Doris, on the bright side she is with God, in no pain and you will all meet up sooner or later. It must be difficult for your best friend not knowing what is happening. Thankfully he is surrounded by his family to help him through all this. Are you sending her emails to read to him?

Ribs sound good, we finished up the last of the spaghetti tonight.

Sounds like you had a productive day..

Got the phones & internet fixed (hopefully), things on hold about the roof, Amazon delivered 2 new chlorine floaters that the hail smashed... but I did NOT get around to calling the RV guys to see if they can order the dome over the shower that was cracked. At first I didn't consider it being hail damage but after finding so much other damage, got to be related. I still won't file an insurance claim, it wouldn't be more than the deductible (I don't think). Different insurance than house.

Got my hair cut & cut up the watermelon into bite sizes for tomorrow so am seriously thinking bed. Cats are in, they are not happy with all the fireworks banging, haven't seen any pretty stuff, just bangs & pops. I don't mind fireworks, remember how we enjoyed them after the war was over. Of course, we didn't get the big stuff they have now. I could lay in my bed & watch the high explosions every night at 10:00 pm of the 10 day fair. We had a 2 story house, only about 11 blocks away... strange, for the first time I counted how many city blocks & had always said "8" blocks from the fairgrounds. They have beautiful aerial shows every night after the grandstand show.

Back then the grandstand shows managed to book a lot of the people that were on Ed Sullivan Show. It was said that "the MO State Fair was 2nd only to Texas"... a wonderful place to grow up. I do feel lucky & happy with memories but think each & every person feels the same about their "home town". So will head to bed for a very busy day tomorrow. Got to finish unloading that RV. Try to get the slide out long enough to get all that bedding off, washed & back on between rains. I am ready to go again, to MO this time.

I took some chicken bones down to the river as well as stale bread, it will be gone in the morning so something is hungry.. I was pleased that I was not nearly as winded as before I went to CO. Probably keeping busy is helping build up stamina, a very good sign. I had reached the stage that going from one end of the house to the other left me panting... winter blassss

Larry, my sincere sympathy for the loss & misery of your friends. So difficult to keep spirits up when each loss is like a hit in the stomach & gasping for air. It hurts. Big hugs.

I am getting such a kick out of you girls canning & recipes for the IP.... and Jane, I agree that "their mistake" is a real gift for you. I don't do quilts but every time the subject comes up I have to slap my face to quit getting angry that someone took my mother's precious quilt that she pieced together as a young girl & had quilted by the ladies of the Salvation Army only a few years before she died. She was so proud of it, kept it wrapped in an enormous plastic bag in her "hope chest". She did not say which of us girls would inherit, but in the 5 years after she died, before our father died, that quilt had been in that trunk. Many people had been in & out, my sister hired some girls to spend the night in that bedroom as well as a nephew that stayed in that extra bedroom for months after Dad broke his hip. The spare bedroom was ground floor with it's own bathroom & door to go outside, no problem for someone to walk out with a quilt. No one else seemed to be upset it was missing but I do hope who ever took it will suffer a guilty conscience forever. Was so special to Mom I felt someone had to take good care of it for her. At one time I checked with a store that sold OLD hand made quilts & was told that the value of one completely hand made & vintage would be worth well over a thousand dollars. Ah, well, one of those things we can't do anything about, but feel better talking about it now & then. I'd sure give someone a thousand or more to keep that quilt in the family.

Off to bed. Hugs to all. Happy night before the 4th of July!

Good morning everyone, HAPPY JULY FOURTH.
Woke after 9 yesterday and had a rush to get going for an 11:am appointment. I am not good a rushing anymore. Going to be a hot day here, glad I am staying home with my AC for good company. Most likely will have the Bristol parade-the oldest 4th parade in the country more than 230 years. People get  to the route the night before and stay in their spots. Crazy.
Have read all the posts but I think I slept on my right side all night and even my hand feels numb so hard to type with just left hand.
Have a wonderful Fourth with family and friends.

Hello everyone.  According to the weather forecast for this morning we are only to get to 93 degrees today with a good chance of rain.  Scott was talking about getting over here early this morning to install the outside doorbell/camera while it is cool but I don't think it will be too early.  It looks like we will have a high of 93 today.    The only thing on the plan for today is to go to Home Depot to return the plastic floor runners and, depending what time it is perhaps finally get to Sonny's for a lunch sandwhich to bring home.

Last evening Pat was talking about riding along, which is basically what I will be doing.  The girls will be over in the afternoon. (I know I have been writing about doing this for several days but it just hasn't worked out so maybe today will be the day.

I had a really bad episode of shortness of breath yesterday evening and used a second dosage of Morphine for the day.  However, I did get around 5 hours of sleep last evening and know I will be mainly resting today.  I am having another one this morning and took another doseage of he Morphine and am about ready to ask the nurse if the dosage can be increased.  It took me about 2 hours this morning to get my breakfast and empty the dishwasher and the job shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.  I may have to admit that I am just not in good enough shape to continue to try to do this.

Pat and the girls fixed a very good meal last evening of BBQ ribs, green  beans, and a corn salad and roles.  The two slabs of ribs were  fixed in the Instant Pot and then sauced and finished in the oven.  Unfortuntately my taste buds for meat haven't returned yet and I wasn't able to eat much of the meal. That was our 4th of July special meal.  There is plenty of food here at the house so everyone will be on their own for fixing a meal today.  It seems when I start to write my postings for today someone turns on a switch and I fall asleep. Therefore I am going to go ahead and post and then read back in the discussions and will add any comments.  Otherwise hope to see you tomorrow. My best friend is home now.

Happy 4th of July.   Hope everyone will enjoy a happy and safe day.

Nothing special for me today.  Just another day !!!

They do not do anything special for 4th of July, here where I live.  We used to have  pot lucks and luncheons for various holidays, but haven't had anything like that for a good while now.  We have a new recreation girl, but she is kept busy doing things that the manager should be doing. So, nothing has been planned for a while now.

I did read the messages, and always enjoy what everyone is into.

Hope everyone will have a good day and enjoy whatever it is that you have planned.  Even just resting is fine.

hahaha, Bubble, you are getting MY mail!  Yesterday & day before were extreme for masses of robo calls... and I had to answer because of the various problems, roof, internet & phones, etc... not knowing names or numbers of agents calling.  We have already had showers this morning so don't want to open the slide on the RV to get the rest of the bedding & clothes out & do hate to start laundry until all can be sorted for colors. By the way, if you get a legit offer of that kind of money, I will gladly advise how to spend... sure wouldn't save for the future!!!

Enjoy the day, remember all those long gone 4th of July celebrations when we had tears in our eyes because we finally had PEACE!

I have 9 jars of cherry jam sitting on the counter cooling and looking beautiful!  Unfortunately, as I was getting out the jam pot, I knocked the lid to the soup pot on the floor.  It shattered into about a million pieces and I spent the next half hour cleaning up glass in two doorways and all over the kitchen.  If you've never tried to clean up a million shards of glass with two dogs trying to "help", you haven't lived.  What fun that was!

And now I have to find a lid for my soup pot before it's time for veggie soup!

But the jam finally got done and the kitchen floor is cleaner than it's been in a long time!

I'm going to pit some more cherries for the brandied cherries before it's time to go to my daughter for supper on the grill.  She told me not to bring anything but myself.  I can do that!

I hope you are all enjoying you day.  I have mixed emotions!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

All well in central Oklahoma.  Weather is slightly crazy.  We'll have bright sunshine and then "pop-up" storms will dump up to 4" of rain in 90 minutes - and then the sun will shine again.  :idiot2:

The past week had been "one thing after another" and tomorrow will start another few days of the same.  All good things - but I needed a break!  So I "politely declined" joining my family and those in my dil's family for a Pool Party/Taco Bar gathering.  Weather permitting, they plan to follow that with a fish fry and fireworks at dil's family "fishing shack" on the Cimarron River.
More than this old lady can - or wants to - handle.

Amy,  going back to your comment on insuring the quilts.  Neither dil nor I thought to ask about getting an appraisal.  I'm not much for insuring any heirlooms because, if something happened to them, they could not be replaced - nor would I want a replica.

Don't really have anything to add to the other conversation threads so will just wish...

Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day
with  :hugs:

Of course, it is hot and getting hotter today.  Typical NC summer day with thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon.  I'm not going anywhere.

Just finished some applesauce in IP.  So good...I can hardly wait for it to cool.

We'll have our semi-traditional 4th dinner this afternoon.  Fried chicken, twice baked potatoes, kidney bean salad, apple pie.  How American is that?

I just found my next kitchen "toy".  I want it!   :pineapple:

Phyllis, I wanted that "toy" too until I saw the price.  I think that is kind of expensive for heating water for coffee or reheating food.  My right shoulder has arthritis and I can't get things out of my over-the-stock microwave.  I am limited to what I can heat because of that.  I had thought of a table top microwave, but where it would fit best, there is something above the location.  I passed on that and I guess I'll pass on this "toy".  Great idea, though.

Mary Ann, it isn't a microwave.  It is a convection oven and does what your range oven does plus so much more.  Also, connects to smart phone so you can control it even when you aren't at home.  AND, a whole lot more.  Has a camEra so you can see how it is cooking by looking at your phone. Pretty amazing appliance.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for July 1, 2019

Phyllis, I knew it was not a microwave, it's that we thought of getting one that would go on the counter at one time.  And this "toy" would fit on the counter.  Not only that the door falls down, not from right to left as the microwaves do.  I don't have a "smart phone" so that lets me out of purchasing it!  Ha!

I'm getting along fine with what I have but I don't put anything heavy in the microwave because I can't get it out - it's too heavy and I'm too short.

It was a special day today and I'm tired!  I went to my daughter's for supper (steaks on the grill) it was delicious.  And the company was the best.  We decided to eat inside because it was so hot and humid outside.

When I came home, I was so tired from the days events that, after taking care of the doggies needs, I fell asleep on the couch.  I didn't wake up until they made their needs known again.  And now I'm going to be.

I bid you a Good Night on the Fourth of July and I wish you all a peaceful sleep and a good tomorrow.

Oh, and Phyllis, I'm not falling for your ploy.  I've already considered that "toy" and rejected it.  I don't want to have to learn everything that it does and I can't afford a new phone.  Nice try!

Hi everyone .  I was starting to write that I had just had some ice cream here at 4 pm in the morning but then realized the fudge bar I just ate had never seen ice cream and was probably all chemicals or maybe soya.  None the less it was cold and that was what tasted so good. What freedom and I don't even have to feel foolish for doing what I want to do when I want to do it.  The nurse will likely be here fairly early this morning.  I have everything set out on the table including the refill medications that came a couple of days ago.  Now a few pictures of my "man cave" if I can remember how to use the  PhotoPeach app here on the computer.

Scott is planning on coming out sometimes before he has to go to work late this afternoon.  He has about 4 grab bars to put up on various places that will give me a place to hold onto.  While we were out yesterday one of the heavy doors I was holding onto caught a gust of wind or slipped and got a couple of my fingers.  Other than showing some bruises this morning they aren't even sore.  I was lucky as could easily have had two broken fingers or knuckles .

Bubble it sounds like your lucky day in terms of Euros.  Unfortunately some people do fall for these scams.

Shirley, I have an interesting, if somewhat disturbing, situation with your travels and also when Lindancer was hospitalized.  I have no memory of you being gone.  This has happened before and only seems to involves a few of the posers here.

Jane, that sure wasn't a highlight moment at the end of your successful jam making effort.  Forgive yourself as it was an accident nd your jam was saved.

Phyllis, I would be right over to help you with your 4th dinner this afternoon but my taste buds are all mixed up.

Mary Ann & Phyllis, yesterday while I was aways from the house I had a chance to see how the SimpliSafe home security works.  I got a video and it showed Pa waling thorough the house with a bright and clear picture.

Lloyd, I hope you all had a great time with the fourth feed.

JaneS, you jinxed me!
I made 6 jars of cherry jam today; but when I took the pot to make it, a lid fell on the floor and broke into 5 pieces. That was not too much to clean up.
I hope I can replace it :(

I moped the pot with a slice of bread before washing it:  it was too delicious to waste  ;D

Thank you Don for sending me some pectin!  (unavailable here)

Good morning the day after the 4th of July!

Fitbit won't tell me how much/little I slept, it wants to do an update & I don't want to mess with it right now. Had breakfast so plan to go back to bed for a couple hours. I woke up about 1:30 am looking for Tiger, she wasn't here all afternoon or even when I went to bed, had wanted out before noon & guess fireworks made her go into hiding. It got worse & was still going on when I opened the door to whistle for her at that wee hour. In this flat land the sound carries so the booms & snaps could have been anywhere. Tom stayed inside & ate his meals & hers, too. Still no Callie so I feel very guilty for leaving her behind. But I could not imaging taking her when I don't know if she has ever been in a moving vehicle (except when the neighbor took her to be "fixed".

Larry, I did not say exactly when I would be gone so probably the reason you missed my saying. We have several houses in my neighborhood that sit empty while the widows are staying in re-habs for one reason or another. Hate to think of how easy it would be to loot any of the houses, except I believe every one is armed with a security system (and alert neighbors). When Cas died I realized that with nobody else in the house to disturb, I could be up & down at night, eat any time or any thing and after getting used to that idea, have thoroughly enjoyed being "a free spirit".  For those of us that spent our lives walking the line, sure is a smile to break the rules, huh? I put a screen door handle https://www.lowes.com/pd/Gatehouse-Black-Screen-Door-Pull-Handle/1000141873, happened to have a new brass one, by the door coming into the house from the garage, because a neighbor would walk across the street to visit when I had the garage door open & we'd come inside to sit... but she had a problem with the one step to get in. Now I use that handle all the time, just steadies me as I step up with an arm load and one hand free. My stomach squeezed in sympathy at the thought of your fingers in that door!

You girls are all doing a guilt trip on me with your canning & being so ambitious!  It has been a long time since I took on that job & was never sure enough of my job to eat what I fixed. Just this week I discovered several of the quart jars of the "piccalilli" that I made since living in this house. I ate it when fresh but chickened out after it sat on the shelf for a few months. I want to pour out the contents & save the jars.... bought a carton of them in 1976 & they have the year with a Liberty Bell raised on the jar. Not sure if they are collectable but thought some serious canner would appreciate. The day is coming I will have to clean out this house.  ::) My mother did a lot of canning, I helped with the "chinois" to mash & keep seeds out of whatever she was fixing that day. http://foodperson.com/2007/09/03/the-right-tool-makes-sauce-a-snap/  This looks exactly like the one Mom had. That was the extent of my interest in cooking or canning.

Think I'd better go catch some zzzzzzs because it will be a busy day. Trash man comes early & I have some yard weeds to get rid of first, mowers come & need to weed whip a few places they don't think is part of their job... daughter still in town so they will come visit & still have to deal with ordering the dome for the RV, put the slide back out to strip the bedding & close it back up before late afternoon showers hit & get those tons of laundry started. Had e-mail from the insurance adjuster to call & discuss my roof claim.  Sure hope we don't all need to put new ones on but would be a big discount if it was needed when I go to sell the place..... Sleep first!!!

OK, Jane.  I tried to tempt you but you are too strong to fall for it.  I agree.....I don't think I have the brain power to learn how to use a new thing but when I have to heat up my big oven for one small casserole dish I will think about it with longing.   :'(  And, just think how much money I saved myself!

I was up a little early..restless night last night.  I have to get out to buy some milk and a few things I am running out of.  The temps. will be a little lower today...."only" 90 deg.  But, the high humidity is still with us from the little bit of rain we had last night.  So I won't tarry outside for long.

You, and your Pat, would have been welcome at my table for the 4th, Larry.  Dinner was good, especially the apple pie, but I still can't quite get my Kidney Bean Salad to taste like what my mother used to make.  Or, maybe, it is just my memory of what it used to taste like that is at fault.

Sorry about the broken lids for both of you, Jane and Bubble.  I don't think I have any baking dishes that still have the original glass lids. I'm terrible at breaking things.  When we lived in Los Angeles the kitchen had a ceramic tile counter top.  I can't tell you how many glasses and lids I broke by dropping something on that darned counter.  And I hated cleaning the grout with a tooth brush!

I see that your night was restless, too, Shirley.  Hope we both catch up.

I'm going to see if a 2nd cup of coffee will help.  Take care, Everyone.

Good morning everyone..
I wrote a post and poofffff away it went.
Going to be another blistering hot day here.I want ot head to town to pick up more cherries that are on sale this week.
Jane, and Bubble oh no...what a mess to clean up,Bubble you were a bit luckier than Jane though. Jane, your IP lid may fit your soup pot but you can make the soup in your IP in less time. Just through all the ingredients in and let it go.

Larry OWWW. oh my you were lucky!! Hope today is a wonderful carefree day for you.

Callie ,it may surprise you on the value of your quilts.

Phyliss, I would love that gadget, once the price comes way down.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's been a busy morning so far and I don't think this day is going to slow down.

BUBBLE, I'm sorry about your lid and your fruit pectin.  I can't imagine not being able to get it right down the street.  I learned something today and if I can help you with that any time, please ask!  That's a serious statement.  I couldn't live without jam.  But I never thought of swiping a piece of bread around the empty pot to get the last of it.  I do use a rubber spatula and a coffee cup for the leavings.  I scrape it all into the cup, slip the cup in a plastic bag and have it on a toasted bagel for breakfast the next day.  That way, I get to test it for goodness and boy, was it ever good this morning!

PHYLLIS, the fact that I don't have much counter space was probably the first and formost factor in not buying something to put permanently on the counter.  But the telephone sure entered into the decision.

LARRY, don't you know there's not room for fingers in a door closing area?  Maybe they need to put up a sign saying "Remove fingers before closing".  Would that work for you! ;D

SHIRLEY, I used to help my mom and gramma with the canning and I remember manning that tool for them from time to time.  But I never knew it had a name other that "that strainer thing".  So you see, one is never too old to learn!

I looked up my lid on line yesterday but before I order one, I'm going to look at WM.  The last time I needed a lid for a frying pan than came without one, they had the perfect one.  Maybe I'll have a new one when I come home.  I hope you get lucky, too, BUBBLE.

Now I have to get busy and do SOMETHING before I have to get ready for work.  Enjoy your day Everyfriend.  Make it a good one.  It's yours!

Missed your post, AMY!  My veggie soup pot (also used for ham and beans and chicken pot pie and spaghetti sauce) is an 18 quart one that isn't even big enough to finish all the soup.  I make it to can and a lot of that goes out in gifts.  Our church has an "in house" soup sale once a month through the Fall, Winter and Spring months and "Jane's Vegetable Soup" is expected in October or November.  That's 5 quarts.  Then there's a food pantry for college students that is supplied during the December finals and Jane's Vegetable soup is one of the staples.  That's another 6 pints.  Then there's Bethany's birthday and Christmas presents and now that she's in college nearby, maybe a couple jars for her to keep on hand.  Of course, there's me and I have to have my vegetable soup.  And if Frankie shows up she'll have a choice of vegetable soup or spaghetti.  That's LOT of soup and I'm already collecting ingredients for canning!  I'll probably do the meat in my new toy.  It'll sure be a lot faster!

Good Friday morning to all the morning friends.

I, for one,  never got into canning. My mother and an aunt used to can a lot of vegetables.  My mother also made a lot of jam and jelly, and my aunt made her own Ketchup, and also  made wine from grapes in her yard. I remember one time I did put up some peaches and then, was afraid to eat them, thinking I may not have done it right.  So, wound up tossing  them all away/ That was the last and only time I ever tried canning. But, I envy all of you that do.  I know how good it all will taste.

I did watch the fireworks from the Duluth Harbor last night. After switching back and forth between several of the web cams, I settled on the Bridge Cam and could see the fireworks great.  They lasted about 1/2 hour.  Lots of people all around.

It was pretty quiet around my place last night. Only heard a couple small "pops" and they weren't that loud.  I was watching the movie "Yankee DOodle Dandy" in between watching the fireworks.

Nothing special going on today. Sounds like everyone had a nice 4th of July.  Now, the summer will fly by very quickly.

Hope everyone will have a nice weekend.

Joy

Good afternoon,

Amy,  I'm not sure I want to know value of the quilts!!!!  Will probably leave that to the heirs.  ;)

Still smiling at an exchange I had with a very young check-out clerk this morning.
Included in my items were two unlined Writing Tablets. After scanning them, he thumbed through one and...

Clerk:  "What are these for?"
Me:  "for writing someone - like stationery"
Clerk:  (blank look)
Me:  "When you don't want to use your I-phone or text".
Clerk:  "Ohhh"  (at least, he didn't shrug  ;D )

Can we say "Generation Gap?"  ::)

Computer Geek is due in a little while to set up the new HP Pavilion "All In One" computer.  May have to use Tablet for communicating until I figure out all the "bells and whistles".

Until then....behave yourselves and have an Enjoyable Day.

Let summer be gone!!! Don't like the heat, don't like the humidity,  don't like the weeds and bugs, give me time & I'll give you plenty other reasons I don't like summer. One major one is that summer clothes do not hide the sins of winter eating & being lazy or the icky arms of crepe skin. I hate to pass by a mirror these days. So there....... I was sound asleep when the noise of a lawn mower woke me... not sure what time my guys will arrive but I have tried to convince them to call first so I can take locks off gates before. Wasn't them making the noise but I got out the keys & took locks off......to the tune of thunder & splats of rain. I looked over the river & discovered the water is up over my tiger lilies again so somebody west of us had a juicy rain fall. Right now the sun is shining (maybe a 5 minute rain for us).... so you can imagine the humidity. Give me sleep~~~~I will be whining until late Sept or Oct.  :'(

Good day, Callie. I sure like the HP I found in CO last year... & would never have looked at it but had not taken one & this was on sale & sounded like a good deal (especially to my son). I don't have a tablet, do have a very old Kindle Fire that serves well for playing solitaire, hate my smart iPhone but keep it so the kids can text me when a busy holiday season. I hardly every use the 3 Toshiba computers because they are so slow, I didn't know how bad until getting a new one. Good luck with your new set up.

Daughter called, on her way. They go back to St.Louis tomorrow.

On my way home after work, I checked the pots and pans aisle and do you believe it, I couldn't find ANY replacement lids.  The have them on line to order but not in the store any more.  I bought two necessities...milk and potato chips...and then I came home.  I was hot and tired and I took the doggies out and gave them a snack and came in and checked my email and hit the couch.  It was loaded wit zzzzs and more than happy to share.  Now I feel like I can navigate until bed time.

SHIRLEY, without summer, we wouldn't have any of the good stuff to can so we have it to eat "when the snow flies".  Neither would DelMonte, or Ragu or Campbells or....well, you get the picture.

I think they're trying to tell me they're hungry and it's time to eat.  I guess I better take heed.  I'm a little hungry myself.  I hope you are all enjoying your day.  SHIRLEY, I hope you found something interesting to do so you can stop wishing for SNOW  >:(

Jane, I had a short nap but with nap & last night, still not 3 hours sleep. Unlike me, but my eye lids are staying up only because my eye brows are raised as high as I can get them!  I've spent so much time today on the internet & calling stores to find the right batteries for the remotes for the RV. You'd think a Ford chassis would be the most popular type to find a part for, but when Googling, it takes to all batteries EXCEPT the one I need. Even though the various stores pop up to buy, when I go to "in stock" & they don't even have the right number in stock! So many times I open the front door & click the remote to make sure the front doors are locked, most of the time I enter the side door when loading/unloading, but will have opened a front door & forget to lock. I have batteries (button type) with one number off, same numbers that pop up on all the sites... but they are too thick even though they are 3v.... bummer. Amazon Prime didn't even work... how can that happen???  I got the one apart & even tried the thick ones with not a remote chance of working,  ;)  but stirred up their juices & did actually open & close with a click after I put it back together . When I call the RV place to see if they can order the dome I will check to see if they have the batteries as well. And there you are, Janie, you are right about needing summer but I don't have to like it, do I?  Tomorrow is another day.............

GOOD EVENING EVERYFRIEND ....I have just caught up on reading all of the nice posts.  I am sorry I did not get in to post a HAPPY INDEPENDICE DAY to you all.  We kept quite busy with the family and sure enjoyed our time in Vail.  It was just beautiful there....perfect temperatures and being with the families sure made my time just delightful.  I must admit that I really hurt from having to climb three flights of stairs every time I went up to Dave's place which is where we slept each night.  UGH!  We came home today, Friday.  We could have stayed longer, but Bob was ready to be home.  I am sure happy to report that Michele was doing fantastic and participating in everything, and seemed to really be enjoying herself.  She was pretty tired at times but I think being away and having so many people around helped her mentally.  The insurance company did OK her CT Scan and she will have it in a couple of weeks.  She will have he chemo next Monday as scheduled.

We have been watching Wimbledon a LOT and are really amazed by CoCo Gauff.  The Tour de France starts soon and that is another time consumer.....I have a love/hate with it as I love to see the beautiful country side views, but get really tired of it being on so much and for so long.

GLORIA, I enjoyed your special card as always.  Thank you.

I think it is time for me to head off to bed.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Well all I can tell you all about $ value of quilts Is every year we at senior center in warrensburg MO. every year wa have a big feed and we do a silent action an a public action we donate all sorts of things to action Off, and quilts is one of the big atractions and they go as high as$2,000 to $4,500 also cakes and pies bring from $25.00 to as high as$1,000 each. in that one day feed and sale we draw in enough $$$ to operate free dinners delivered to those that need good meals and can't afford them. at the check in suggested is $4-6 per person ( what you can afford) some people put in 5 10$  some put as low as $1 they no   because it is rolled or folded tight. that is alright as only god knows it it is true what they can afford or not. they have good cooks and put out great meals five days a week and deliver meals to shut in's.

Popping in briefly to say thanks for all the birthday wishes. I actually celebrated on Saturday (a day before my actual birthday) because I had church on Sunday and wouldn't have had as much time to do fun stuff then. I spent the day relaxing at a local amusement park/pool (https://coneyislandpark.com/attraction/sunlite-pool/) with my sister, brother-in-law and nieces, then we all met up with my parents for dinner at a local restaurant before heading home for ice cream cake and presents.

Good morning everyone..

We had thunder but no rain last night. Lawn will soon crisp up if we don't get rain. We are off to an estate sale this morning, we don't have to go far just two houses down from us. Hope to do laundry and hang it out before we go.

Jenny , great to read Michele is doing better and that they have ok'd the CT scan.

Shirley, I am with you, I don't like this fry weather either. Love Spring, Fall and Winter but find the heat and humidity too much and yes the dag burn bugs too!!

Jane I hope you can find a lid before soup time. Have you checked second hand stores?

Better get a move on here, will take hubby out for his coffee then to the estate sale.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, I know I posted a long post yesterday afternoon but cannot find it this morning. I always come on with my last post in the mornings and have gone back looking for it. Oh well, all I can remember is explaining about the hose on the back of the AC coming out. #1 son came and used duct tape to attach it but when the connection warmed up the tape let go. I know #2 son was coming yesterday and when he called to ask if I needed anything besides farm fresh eggs I laughed and told him a new AC.  He brought some aluminum duct tape and used that. I t held and it finally cooled off in here last  night. We had the first 91° on the Fourth and had no AC up here. I spent a miserable day and night.
SHIRLEY  Of course I agreed with you about the summer weather.
Slept so good last night and feel better this morning. I have been reading and not commenting.

JENNY  good for you climbing those 3 flights of stairs, I have all I can do climbing 6 steps into my son's house. Good to read that Michele was doing so good and enjoying the day.

MICHAEL  who wouldn't enjoy being at that  pool, looks like fun.

AMY  we have thunderstorms in the forecast for this afternoon. Weather guesser said they could be bad ones with winds and downpours.

By now I am ready for my second cup of coffee and breakfast.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm just checking in this morning because I have lots to get done.  I'm hoping my daughter doesn't call to say she's going to the Amish store this morning because I need some stuff but I can't really squeeze it in.

JENNY, thank God for Michele's CT scan!  He said "yes" to that prayer.

OLDIESMAN, What a pool!  Nice place to spend your birthday!  Nice to find that you're not so far from where I am on a map!

AMY, no second hand stores nearby that I know of but thanks for the reminder.  Maybe I'll take a walk around the FLEA MARKET when I get home from church tomorrow.

Now, I better get busy.  Time's a wastin'!  Nothing will get done if I continue to sit here.  First on the agenda is making laundry detergent.  If I don't have that, I can't throw a load of clothes in the wash while I'm busy in the kitchen (or while I take a snooze, either)

One question....I'm going to need a new coffee pot soon.  I'm leaning toward the one that makes a single or a pot.  I also want one that I don't have to buy pods for.  I want to be able to use whatever coffee I have on hand.  Any suggestions?

Up early & not enough sleep but do want to mention, Jane & anyone else reading... that someone suggested to me when I was looking for a particular replacement lid, to check the "thrift" stores. Sure enough, when I asked about lids they had boxes FULL of any size & color possible. They were mostly 10¢ each so I bought several that "might work" & they fit other things & still have them in the cabinet. Never did find the one to fit that teapot so I use a different teapot.

Sure is humid here this morning. More showers or T-storms today so not the day to give the RV it's needed going over. Got to wait until Monday to call about a new dome & also hear about a new roof.

Still no sign of Callie. Tom & Tiger were sitting near the door just staring out toward the river, like something had been around they didn't trust. Tom came on in to eat but Tiger sat there while I read all the posts & finally came in.  Cats sure don't obey like a dog.... Tiger ate & wanted back out, just sitting on the far side of the pool area watching down toward the river. Tom is laying by the door watching her. I am concerned that some critter has moved in that is a danger to cats & small dogs. Haven't seen the larger birds that would consider them a meal, but with the flooding we have no idea what other wildlife might be roaming the river banks.

Nice to have you pop in, Michael, & that you had a nice birthday. How old are your nieces?  Bet they love having you around. My favorite aunt was one that didn't have kids of her own so every one of us thought WE were her favorite. She was fun but she also had a way of making each feel special.

I used to love going to estate sales, Amy.... have not been to one in years. I love pretty "knick-knack" things & fun to see what others collected. I have a couple shelves full of milk glass things, need to have a garage sale & get rid of stuff that the kids don't want. I had several pieces my mother gave me & not positive which they are now, only my daughter cares about saving what came down through the family & the younger kids have no interest in any of the antiques. I tried to explain to them that "they are just the care givers for these pieces that have been in the family for 150 years, that their grandchildren may be excited to take something for show & tell that has such history. We will see, maybe I won't, when time comes for me to down size. I have put notes on things to remind the family which pieces are special.

Lloyd, looks like about time to head north to cooler weather, except even Alaska is hot now. I think I prefer to travel in cooler months, but do enjoy just sitting in a woodsy campground doing nothing but watching the animals & birds. At least in the mountains of CO it gets cool enough at night to be comfy & bugs aren't too bad./color]

Forgot to mention, Gloria, hope the duct tape works!  My son put some on that dome before we went to CO but it was waving in the wind when we returned. One of the roof men had his ladder out & offered to put new on so I gave him a different type roll. He was impressed with how sticky it was but it isn't made for outside so know it will leak. Just got to find a place to order new... but think about all those commercials of various types of glue to fix anything & wish I knew which one really works. I would like to find a solid metal dome & not have to watch for low hanging limbs (much less hail). I don't use the shower in the RV anyway, & not tall enough to need extra head room, it does keep it light inside.

It is a warm, muggy, overcast day here with the forecast of rain, thunderstorms, etc. sometime today.  Strangely, there have been a lot of storms for the last several days but they seem to just go around my area.  The neighborhood lawns are actually browning out and, I didn't think I would say this, we need rain.

Jane, have you checked other pots, casserole dishes, etc. that you have?  That is where I found a same size replacement lid that I needed.  I thought I was pretty lucky.

Jenny, I like watching the Tour DE France, too, and for the same reason that you do....I love to see the French countryside.  The Tour goes through some beautiful villages with impressive chateaus and cathedrals.

A former neighbor dropped by yesterday and brought me a basket full of delicious ripe peaches from the farm stands near their mountain cabin.  They smell so good.  I need to look up some IP recipe that I can use them for right now because they are all at the peak of ripeness.  A few more days and they will be past their best.  Cooking is on the agenda for the day.....again.

Take care and stay cool, Everyone.

We are invited to lunch at youngest son's home as well as his in-laws - today.  Ordered not to bring one thing - but I do have a picture of a Loon he will like.  It is a Canadian artist and I spotted this picture when I was donating to a thrift store.  :)

We watched "the speech" on the 4th and the great salute to our military.  I am always amazed that so many people turn out in huge crowds for these shows.

Jenny:  I am so happy to hear you had a wonderful visit and your DIL was doing well over the holiday.

On quilting, I am certainly not in the esteemed quality of the gals in quilting group.  However, I keep a project going and one quilt is hanging on the wall - it needs more blocks around the edges.  My favorite machine is in for service and they say it will take two weeks just for a deep cleaning.  - Someone mentioned iPot and thanks for the site because more recipes is nice.  Putting the iPot right on the counter motivates me to use it much more often.

Big quake in California - two quakes.  There are faults running all the way up the west coast and even in the middle of this country.  What huge expenses for these two quakes.

AMY, thanks for suggesting the "second hand" store.  And SHIRELY, thanks for making it clear in my mind.  We do have a GoodWill store right up there and I'm going to check this afternoon for a lid.  I'll let you know what I find.

The laundry detergent is made and doing it's 24 hour wait.  The brandied cherries are finished.  There are 12 half pint jars of them to either feed my craving this winter or to give for Christmas gifts.

And I finished that stuff in time to accompany my daughter to the Amish Store.  My groceries are replenished for the week....maybe longer.

I was cruising the frozen foods when a gentleman stopped me and asked, "If I buy that, will you stuff it and cook it for me?"  He indicated a 40 pound turkey in the case.  I told him I didn't think it would even fit in my oven and it would take two men and a boy to carry it.  He laughed and said he just wanted to make someone laugh and it turned out to be him doing the laughing!

All the groceries are put away and I ate my Hoagie.  Now the doggies are on the prowl again so I'll take them out and then head for Goodwill's.  I'll let you know if they have lids!

I came in to see if Larry had been in today.....hope he is ok.

We didn't make it to the sale, just too hot outside and I don't think Kyle is feeling up to par. A cold has decided to visit him and he has trouble with them setting in on his chest, good thing he has a Dr. appointment on Mon.

I am heading back downstairs to sew. I will get all the blocks done and the quilt sewn together soon, I hope.

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

Beautiful morning and we are taking it easy and enjoying it.

Thank you for the nice comments about Michele......thank goodness the insurance company DID OK the scan, finally but it sure would have been better if they would have gone with the doctors plan...I just do not understand WHY they disallow so many needed tests for cancer patients.

We continue to have pretty severe storms here in the afternoon.....I guess we did have quite a hail storm here while we were away, and now I know why my plants looked so beat up!  I thought it was just a very hard downpour that did the damage.  One neighbor had a skylight broken.

CAROL, did you have hail on the 4th?  I could not see it on our cameras, so did not think we did, but neighbors say differently.  Enjoy the lunch at your sons home.....I hope it was not planned to be outside?

JANE, I thought a thrift store also regarding finding a lid for your special pot.

PHYLLIS, we watched the tour this morning and it was wonderful seeing all the castles, churches and the country side....just spectacular, isn't it?  Thank goodness we tape it so we ca; speed through the many commercials.  Our son in Vail had to watch it live and there are so many commercials.  I think Bob found a way for him to log in and watch our taped version.

SHIRLEY, I thought about you a lot while we were in Vail looking at all the beautiful mountains and waterfalls, etc.  Gore Creek runs right behind Dave and also at Kurt's places and it is really flowing!  So nice to have the slider doors open at night and listen to the flowing water, snuggled under a feather quilt to keep warm! 🤪

GLORIA, those stair dang near did me in, but I did them at least once a day, up and down, and thankfully I survived.....oh my but did I ever hurt!  I just took my time and trudged through.  I did not check my oxygen levels when I got to the top as I was afraid 😱 to.  At times up there my CO2 was in the low 70's......scary.  That is mighty thin air up there.

Jane, I have a single serve pot that you use grounds in, and I am not using it right now as I use a Kuerig,  wish I could send it to you.  It is rather old, so might not even work any longer....I will go look and see what brand it is and let you know.

WOW, that is quite the pool you celebrated your Bday at, MICHAEL.  I bet everyone had a great time.

The rain is starting and I just hope it will not include HAIL.  Darn, I was going to try to get to the store before this started!

I wish you all the best for the rest of your day.

Jenny

Jane, I forgot to mention my choice of coffee pots. Daughter did give me a single serve at one time but since I'm not so much for the "designer" coffee, I prefer whatever Kohl's has on sale that I can get even cheaper with my discounts, etc. We have hard water & I have at least 7 or 8 of the Black & Decker & other brands Kohl's carries in the 10-12 cup pots, in the basement needing to be "de-limed". I don't bother anymore because it takes a whole bottle of Lime-a-way to clean, or vinegar .. & usually they cost less than $20. I did buy Cas a Kuerig but when he died I cleaned it out completely & it sits, along with a whole tray of pods... if anyone wants to use it they have to clean. They (or it) gets mold in some parts if not used all the time. I make myself a 10 cup pot & just pour in a cup & "nuke" to heat. Will drink it until gone & make more. One son likes his French press & daughter likes Starbucks... other son is now drinking the super strong kinds but since I drink or nip at it all day, I don't want bitter. I keep the Folger's bags, Maxwell House instant & a "drip through" coffee pot in the RV. If I take a big thermos air pot along when I go alone, I will heat a cup of that rather than make coffee. Guess I am basically lazy. So that's what I do.

Jenn, as many times as we visited Vail, stayed in Avon & Beaver Creek? something...  my fav thing was to ride the bus around town & look at the gorgeous flowers in hanging baskets & planters in front of the stores. They do make it candy for the eyes & photo opts with every step. As we pulled on to the Vail exit one time some deer were munching grass on the right of the highway, picture waiting to be painted! Guess it's been probably 10 years since we visited.

I also love the town of Aspen but been a long time since going there, too. There is a museum with same last name as Cas & after visiting their records we concluded the man that donated that house was from the same county in VA where Cas was born. I was a little hesitant about asking what the person was noted for (house of ill-repute?) but he was a teacher. Someone that knew his widow begged us to visit her since she was very interested in genealogy, but we didn't have time. Cas did all the research & we searched cemeteries & even the Scott County Records at the Court House... My brother did all the research on our families, but it is interesting. When will Michele get the results of the scan?  Extra prayers as I kneel thinking of all of you in the morning.

It is clouded over & looks serious. AccuWeather says rain to start in 38 min. Guess Tom & Tiger won't be going out for a while. They took a nap with me today, kind of what we missed out camping this year. One on each side totally conked out. Tom sleeps on his back but wants to be able to touch my leg & Tiger wants up by my face with head on my arm, like 2 kids. I am surprised they haven't come in for a meal. I picked up a Chic-fa-la (sp?) sandwich when I went to Walmart to get the remote batteries. Got them but have not installed yet. Still have to take my "Saturday night bath & wash hair".... Hal used to tease me about that. We've had so many nice people to visit with over the years, wonderful memories.

Oh, my! I looked out the window & trees are blowing back & forth like they will take off! All of a sudden it is dark & such interesting sky & clouds. Must grab a camera & check what is going on~~

Hi, Mary Ann... you snuck in.  :)

Hi Shirley, I don't really "sneak" anyway, I just walk in.  And here I am!

I do enjoy the descriptions of your camping trips, also other trips.  When I was your age, I would never have thought of driving an RV anyway, let alone in the mountains.  And I loved to drive in the mountains when my dad and I drove out west.  I drove to Indianapolis alone until I was 84 then I decided women my age should not be driving alone.  I got to Indy OK, I flew until after Jim died and after that the two Toms would meet in mid-Indiana where I would change cars and we'd do the same to get me back home.  I went to Indy last year and I'm cogitating about this year.  I'm a year older.

Well, I went to Goodwill and they not only didn't have my lid, they didn't have ANY lids in the whole store.  So I hit my favorite little hardware store.  They have (I think) 5 locations in this area and the nicest and most helpful people that you'd ever want to meet.  They didn't have lids in the store but a very nice young lady looked them up and found one for $10 less than I could find any on line.  She ordered it and she told me if I wasn't satisfied for any reason, I could return it.  That's better than on line, too.

We had a thunder store that dumped rain on us for about 45 minutes.  The thunder sounded far off but the rain was right here.  My grass mower didn't show up again.  I thing the Viet Cong have made headquarters in the tall grass in my yard.  I have to put flags on the dogs when they go out so I can find them.

My day is ended.  I wish you all well and I will offer prayers for everyone who needs them.  Take care of YOU!

Just adding....SHIRLEY, you are right about all the nice people who have beed through this place.  I miss so many of them.  I was thinking of Bobbie today.

Well, here I am talking to myself again!  But today I don't have a choice.  I have to be ready to leave for church early and I'll be gone for a while.  My friend, Judy and I are officially visiting another church in our Covocation and it's kind of on the "other edge of the area.  We're planning on lunch on the way home.  So it'll be a while before I get back.

Then, when I get back, I'll be taking care of the doggies needs nd heading out to the Farmers Market.  I saw string beans in plentiful supply last week and I need to get some for the freezer for my veggie soup and I'm thinking of making "Ham and Beans" for my first tryout of the Instant Pot.  I haven't had that for a long time and the leftovers will freeze well for future meals.

I better go and get my shower and get dressed while the doggies are still quietly awaiting the boinger after their pill.

I wish you all a "Super Sunday"....Thanks for the idea, CALLIE!

Woke to the sound of the loons on the lake, crow in the pine tree and a sore throat. :( Seems hubby has shared his cold with me. A day of rest here...maybe more sleep as it was elusive during the night..

Jane, that sounds like a good deal to me plus you made another friend with that lady!!

Just checking in.  Another restless night.  Feet and legs were really bothering me.  I hate this neuropathy but it is what it is.  Some things just have to be lived with.

Jane, I've gone through so many coffee makers I can't remember them all.  I have a Keurig now but don't like it much.  I hate all those wasteful pods.  Expensive to buy and adds more plastic to the land fills.  When I decide to get another pot it will probably be a cheap Mr. Coffee.  At one time, we had a Cuisinart Self grinding programmable coffee maker.  Darned expensive thing!  The first morning it came on at 6 a.m. with the most awful noise while grinding the beans before brewing the coffee that both Tom and I sat straight up in bed thinking something really terrible was happening somewhere in the house.  I gave it to my daughter-in-law.  She used it once and gave it to her sister.  I don't know what happened to it after that.  Probably went straight to the dump.....where it belonged!

Speaking of coffee.....I need another cup.  Take care, Everybody.

Good to see you back, Roley.  Sorry that unpleasant things have been keeping you away.  Just hope that all will go more smoothly for you now.

Good morning everyone. We did get rain yesterday but no thunder. It really poured for about 20 minutes, then slowed down for half an hour. Lights flickered a few times so got flashlight handy. Humidity is down  and 67° to start my day, better than mid 70's to start.

JANE  the Keurig is a great one cup coffeepot and you can buy a holder for coffee so  you do not have to use the pods.

LLOYD  I do rent but we have to supply our own AC's and pay our own electricity.

SHIRLEY  I had a lot of my Mom's knick knacks and was so tired of keeping them clean and sparkling. My daughter has many of them and mo oldest granddaughter has the rest.  The aluminum duct tape my son put on the AC connection is holding. My older son agrees with me it is time to get a new window one. The witch told everyone moving in that we needed a portable ac, no more window ones. Only the ones who were here in the beginning could use theirs. When we had that big meeting more than a year ago the lady who conducted it looked in the company rule book and there was no mention of that. Window ones started showing up. They do work better than the portable ones.

PHYLLIS  we also needed the rain we got yesterday. Nothing like the taste of a tree ripened peach,so juicy.

CAROL  nice seeing you pop in.

AMY  not a good time for any cold. I know I did not go out of my door yesterday, I think I would have fainted from the heat and humidity.  Guess everyone know I hate summer.

LARRY  don't push yourself to do too much.

JENNY  my left leg is not as strong as it used to be and one reason why stairs get me.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyone,  from
the warm, sunny, windy but not too
humid rocky coast of Maine.
It looks like it is going to
be a great day here in Portland.

I got a pretty good clean bill of
health this past week... other then
my normal slowing down..  Lungs etc
are healthy so far.    But of course
I still have to take blood thinners
to prevent any more strokes.

I am doing good.  This coming
week I see the eye doc and see what
he has to say about my cataracts ..
I think that is my next hurdle.

So far, so good.

Have a good day Everyone!

Good Sunny Sunday morning.

Janie, I found a pod for the Keurig in a Miles Kimball catalog.  It came with a measuring spoon.
I got it for friends who might want coffee but haven't used it yet because I drink tea.

Several friends told me to use tea bags instead of the pod.  Put tea bag in mug or cup and let water run through as usual.  Do have to watch brewing time but that's easy.

Gotta scoot to "get me to the church on time" la la la

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for July 1, 2019
Post by: Shirley on July 07, 2019, 11:45:15 AM
Cas was not satisfied with the Keurig flavor, he thought it should have more water go through but not happy with the one cup & the 2nd run through too weak.... SO I bought him a 2 cup Pyrex measuring cup that combined that much into making his 2 cups balance. Make sense?  Anyway, he tried all the pods & decided he liked Folger's best so I bought him a case of those pods after that. I still prefer the Mr.Coffee or Black & Decker best. The Keurig I bought came with a strainer to use regular coffee if desired. I offered it to any of my kids but they've had or tried & don't want.

Been to church & McDonald's with the crowd & may finish up the sleep I missed last night. Can't get caught up & darn Fitbit is not helping 'cause it won't tell me how much the last couple days, not even an accurate number of steps. Keeps good time or I would be tossing it.

Roley/Peter, sorry about the health issues, hope you have a better month ahead. I'm going back to check out the link you posted.... thank you. I have a feeling I may never get back to visit England so thoroughly enjoy your links. From what I could see on Google my little village of Marlow, Bucks is nothing like when we lived there in the mid '50s, but neither are we! I don't expect any of the people I enjoyed back then are still living, they were so kind to this young (19) American. One time one of the English girls that married a GI complained to me that we "Americans bragged about our country too much". I know I showed how shocked I was by her statement & quickly explained that... "we are just talking about HOME".... Now I talk about those first few years of married life in England with glowing memories.

Gloria, somewhere back there you mentioned the flavor of tree ripened peaches... tree ripened anything is so far above what we get in the store it's like not even being the same type fruit. We used to go to the orchards to pick peaches & apples... those orchards are long gone but the memory is still here. I still picture the photos you posted of the different kinds of fruit when you helped with the sales... good ole days!

Today I took notice that I did not see a single Canada goose on my way to or from church.... strange... we have seen so many the last 30 years, some stay year around but most migrate. The golfers gripe about the mess they make & I still look at them with amazement at their travels & devotion to raising their babies. Not sure if the lack of them is because the river has been high for so long, but I also miss seeing the mass of egrets this year. The city put a bypass around the west side that ruined their breeding ground, I thought was terrible since this rookery put to shame anything we saw along the Gulf Coast (bird sanctuaries). Anyway, the world is in constant change, isn't it?

Callie, clouds are building to my south so guess we have another day of hit & miss storms. I did not empty the rain gauge this week & surprised at how much it shows.  MY Callie hasn't come back & was a week last night since we got home, so I am afraid something or someone got her. The neighbors said they didn't see her the whole time I was gone... and I do feel bad that I couldn't take her.

Amy, so sorry about the sore throat... expect you already did the hot salt gargle?  Sounds like a virus since Kyle shared & not sure anything really helps that kind. I don't like having the head messed up, hugs.

Sandy, I have no doubt you will breeze through cataract surgery... you are a good patient! I could not tolerate the blood thinners. I dread the thought of cataract surgery, am seriously thinking about visiting my daughter's eye doctor, optometrist before doing anything more. Since I can read without glasses & think it is a prescription problem, I'm not willing to give up one problem for another.... I don't mind wearing glasses to drive but need the reading area clear & can't get them to give it a try. The places that make the glasses have to go by the prescription & they come out wrong for MY eyes. Pain in the neck to have to raise my glasses to see the speedometer or my watch when driving! Anyway, good luck with your next hurdle.

Phyllis, I didn't know that neuropathy bothered at night. I sat next to a classmate that mentioned he had it & didn't dare cross his legs or he wouldn't know where each foot was... I didn't know that much about it but was shocked at the idea. He was not able to drive any longer. A clinic here advertises their "trials". I have been drinking Gatorade for leg cramps after so many in here recommending it. The camp host's wife asked about what I did so I gave her an extra bottle I had with me..... she & her husband have been hosts at that campground for a few years now, so we see each other at least once a year.

Jane, I try to put a couple tubs of beans & ham (shanks) in the freezer every time I make it... & pull out those tubs soon after freezing. Do believe it's my fav food. Call it "comfort food". Time to make more. I cook mine in the pressure cooker but do pour off the water after about 15 min boiling... not sure it makes a difference because I do it EVERY time! I have been impressed with the shanks instead of hocks since my "little" (young) butcher convinced me to try. No where near the fat to peel off & flavor just as good. Guess I've talked myself into going to the store.... maybe a nap first.

Wishing all a Super Sunday...& Merry Monday if I don't get back tonight. Shirley

Phyllis:  Sorry for your pain and I hope you can get it under control.

Jenny:  We have had small hail a couple of times - I worry about the roof and remember having two new roofs in a span of three years a while back.  Glad you are enjoying the mountains. Our oldest son has his cabin" in Grand Lake for sale - we surely will miss it.

Sandy:  The recovery from getting cataracts is super fast and you will love it.

We spent yesterday with youngest son & wife plus his in-laws.  I need to ask his in-laws over sometime soon - I need to do a lot of things.
Right now, popping in and out to catch the USA Women's Soccer beating Netherlands. The girls are great!

Shirley,  Miss Emily is on her way north.  Please shoo those clouds out of the way before she gets to your area.  ;)

Her mom texted that USA girls won their game.  Was on at 10:a.m. here so didn't see it.

Would you believe my air conditioner had stopped cooling like it should?  Of all days!!!!
Have a call in to my usual ac/heat/plumbing place but not sure they'll have anyone available today.
Would prefer to have them come because I have an annual contract and get a discount.
Pretty sure I can manage with fans until tomorrow.....oe go to son's overnight.

Onward and upward..

Edit....ac guy just called.  He's on the way  !!!!!!!

Hi everyone.  Once again the day hasn't gone as I had hoped. Hopefully I finally have my discussions set up to make it easier to post.  Today is our 57th Wedding Anniversary.  (I made it!!)  Elizabeth is coming to bring Pat a big special arrangement of red roses.  We have no other celebration planned. Scott was just here but had to leave to go to work this evening.  I was very tired this morning, probably from frustration with the way my browser was working.  I plan  on spending a quiet afternoon watching the golf match and then taking the rest of the afternoon and evening just doing things in a quiet manner.

Hello Everfriend! Spending the morning with my friend, Judy, was very nice.  We attended church in a town that I'd only been through in years past.  Since she grew up in that area and still has friends there, she was able to give me quite a tour of that town and the next one.  The sevice was nice and the members of the church that we met were very welcoming.

After church we did the tours and Judy showed me both the house where she grew up and the one where she went to housekeeping when she married.  I also saw the high school where she graduated.  Then we stopped for lunch at a very nice Italian restaurant.

When I got home, I saw to the doggies needs and then went to the Farmers Market.  The string beans were all gone but the guy said there would be plenty next week.  So that will be "bean day" for me.

I came home with a small sack of potatoes that just came out of the ground yesterday.

I've been home a while now and I just finished copying a whole bunch of Instant Pot recipes from Taste of Home.  I still want to do the ham and beans first.

I think I'll just get another small coffee pot like I have.  It was cheap and it worked well for about 3 years.  The only thing wrong with it now is that the coffee isn't HOT like I like it.

My eyes are getting a bad case of the "droops" so I think I'll find a more comfortable place to sit just in case!  Sounds like everyfriend is busy and enjoying the day.

SANDY, I'm another who advocated the cataract surgery if your dr is recommending it.  It's simple and recovery is rapid.  And the first thing you will notice is the colors!  I couldn't believe what I'd been missing!

ROLEY, thanks for the visit to England!  I wish it had been in person but if that can't happen, these "trips" are better than not seeing it at all!

A good Sunday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.
 ⚽️⚽️⚽️ YEA FOR AMERICA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We spent a leisurely morning watching the ladies soccer.  Had a nice video chat with Son Mark and our Jonah Boy.  NOTE: MARY ANN, after your nice comment yesterday about Jonah's Picture I decided it was time to add a updated picture.  Jonah is 7 months old already.  He crawls like crazy and is already trying to pull himself up🙀 The family made a quick visit to see Megan's sister and her family in San Francisco yesterday. The sister and her family will be moving to Colorado soon and they wanted to see them before Mark starts his new job this coming Monday.  Rather sad they are moving as they have two little girls, one older and one just younger than Jonah and it would have been nice for both families to have each other close🥰

SHIRLEY, I am saddened to read that Callie is still missing😩😢. You never know, she might just show up one of these days, but I know it makes you feel bad.  I agree with you that the hanging flower baskets are so beautiful in Vail.  I always feel like I have flown to a little town in Europe every time I go into Vail Village.  The flowers in general at high altitudes seem to be the most spectacular!  Great story about the house in Aspen.  I, too, love Aspen, but I still remember Aspen and Vail when they were just little towns with out all the hoop ah la!  The whole area from Silverthorne to Eagle on I 70 has just expanded so, you would not hardly recognize it.  Beautiful area still.  On one of your drives back you should head north and check it out.....and see ME!

MARY ANN, you were very blessed to be able to drive by yourself on longer trips for as long as you did.  The best part is you got to make the decision yourself that it might be time to not be out on the road by yourself💞 My Dad would be driving his car today if he had not had the spine problems that kept him from getting up into his Lincoln Navigator.  I know he misses driving and I feel bad for him as he was always a very safe driver.  I know you miss your independence also to be able to just go when you take the notion to😩

OH CAROL, I, too, remember the bad hail storms and having to put two new roofs on in that short period of time.....that is why we always dislike the darn hail storms as they are so damaging!  I am sorry the Grand Lake Place is for sale😩

CALLIE, I hope your A/C can be fixed easily without a big $$$.  I spoke of flowers at high altitudes...my Aunt Emma used to grow the most beautiful HUGE flowers in her yard....I always loved the sweet peas that grew on the chain link fence....they were spectacular❣️

JANE, your drive with Judy sounded very nice and I know you really enjoyed it!  Please count me in on joining you for your first pot of beans in your cooker🥰🥰

Enjoy the rest of your day🥰🥰

Jenny

No repairs needed on a/c.  There was a heavy coat of ICE on the "tubes" inside and the ones between unit and where they go into outside wall.  This was due to amount of "cotton" on coils from cottonwood trees.  Grandson had hosed them off several weeks ago and I hadn't realized we'd had that much more blowing off trees.  Connection to and in attic probably thickly coated, too.

Solution....hose stuff off unit coils and keep it turned off and fan turned on until it thaws.

Unit is all clear but attic connections will take longer.

I'm to turn unit on before I go to bed and see if cooling occurs.  If so..nothing else needed except to keep an eye on coils. Service call charge will be figured after we see if he needs to come back.

I'm doing fine in coolest room anyway with circulating fan, ceiling fan and attic fan going...and a big glass of ice water.

Jenny, I miss those mountain flowers but surely enjoyed hubby's vegetable garden here.  Southern veggies don't do well at high altitudes

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LARRY AND PAT

Yes, I've been under it a couple times when it's gone off. You get thoroughly drenched, which isn't a bad thing considering how hot it's been here lately. The older niece doesn't like getting drenched like that and the younger one isn't quite sure what to think of it.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I didn't sleep very well last night and I'm still tired.  And I have to go to work at 9 this morning.  Probably won't have time for a nap because I have an eye appointment at 2:30.

I loved all the camping pictures!  My first camping trip was in a combination camper/tent that belonged to my Father's friend.  They camped first and then left it for us.  I was about 5 years old.  After that I was permanently HOOKED on camping.  I went with the Girl Scouts in every possible venue you could imagine and I took my kids.  My husband wasn't a total fan but he went along with it because it was a cheap way to travel with 4 kids.  I really miss the feeling that being in the woods always gave me and I envy SHIRLEY every time she posts about camping.  But I read her posts avidly!

It's raining here.  It rained off and on all night is supposed to do the same all day today.  The good thing is, I don't have to drag the hose around and water everything.  It's getting watered all by itself.

I guess I better get moving.  I have a few things to do before I go to work.  I wish you all a wonderful day just as you like it!

I slept better last night so that is going to help me get through the day.  Cloudy and humid today.  Callie, I'm not sure I could exist without Air Conditioning.  I hope yours is working again.

I've forgotten who mentioned Taste of Home recipes for the Instant Pot but I thank you.  I've bookmarked that site.  Some wonderful things there.  I want to make a pot of Navy Bean Soup, sometimes called Senate Bean Soup, and even though it is a hot soup on a hot day it is one of my comfort foods. I have an old, old recipe that I don't even remember where it came from but it is the one I always use and I'm sure it will easily adapt to the IP.  Now, I just have to get some ham hocks, or try Shirley's ham shanks.

MAKE it a good day, Everyone.

Good morning every one. I was rudely awakened at 7 am with a loud noise. The painters are here to finish painting this building. They started last summer but with all the rain we had they could not finish, They did get the sides and back done and now it is the front. Their truck is right in front of my windows, of course not right outside, they are way down 3 flights on the ground. ;) .

SHIRLEY at one time around here you could not go anywhere near water with  out the Canada geese being pesty. Now it is wild turkeys and they can be mean protecting their "territory".

CALLIE  like you my AC is not working right. Have to keep all doors closed just to keep it comfortable in here, do not enjoy sleeping on the couch. Will have to call my son later and ask him if he can go get me a new one. I never liked this portable one and want a window one. It is official, the witch cannot make us use only portable ones.

LARRY  happy  57 years of marriage.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link to Photos. Great pictures. Sure a big place where Don is now living. This building has only 53 apartments. quite small for senior housing.

Think I will get into a cool shower, might cool me a bit.

Have a good day.

Merry Monday.

I turned the a/c on at 9:00 p.m. and went to bed in a cool house at 11:00.
Everything fine this morning.

I guess I could have gone to a movie and eaten out while the house was so hot but I don't do either of those things by myself.

Gloria, New York granddaughter has a portable ac for her bedroom but it won't work for the whole apartment.

I remember friends complaining about Canada geese on a golf course that would carry off the ball lying on the fairway after golfer hit a long drive.

Weather gurus predicting very hot and dry for rest of July.  Hope all my pretty flowers make it through.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable day.

CAROL, that was me with the TOH recipes.  I've got a bunch of them copied with plans to work my way through them as needed.

I did my shift at WM and right near the end, a high school friend came through my line.  We had a chance to chat and catch up on life in general.  That was nice.

Then I came home, fed the doggies and took the OUT and fed myself.  I had a few minutes before I had to leave again for an eye Dr. appointment.  The Dr. took time to answer a bunch of questions that I've been saving up for him and the gist of things is that my eyes will never get much better but they haven't gotten any worse in the last 5 years.  I'm holding my own and that's good news.

Now I'm off to finish making the doggie food, feed the doggies and have something to eat for myself.  I hope you are all doing well and that your day is a good one.

Good morning everyone..

Not much sleep last night between coughing and letting the dogs out we gathered sleep in a pint box! Yesterday went well, Dr is going to fill out forms to see if Kyle can get his licence back. Will be nice to have another driver in the family.

Lloyd, I did sit on jury duty for 11 days, made the drive 1 1/2 hour each way in March. Got called a second time and they  settled it out of court. I also believe one should do their duty and sit for jury at least once.....but not 4 times!

Janie,I went to get lids for my canning jars and they were close to 4.00 for 12 lids. Picked some up at Dollarama for $2.00 so 10 boxes came home with me.

Callie, I watch the Canada geese fly in on the neighbours yard  to eat and soon enough his little dogs and I do mean little come running out and chase the geese off. Their little legs are going a mile and minute but they do the job.

Gloria, hope you get your a/c fixed or a new one to help keep you cool. I am going to be doing cherries this morning but won't heat the house up too much.

Larry, love the photo of you and Pat . Pray today is a better day for you.

Phyllis , I put chicken in the IP turned it to 30 min and ended up with lovely cooked chicken that will be put into soup today..in the IP.

Been meaning to ask everyone, what do you pay for celery? The bunch of celery was 1.49 to 1.99 but now ours is 4.99!! What a jump in price!!

Enjoy your day everyone.....stay cool.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm checking in this morning and then checking out.  I'm off to the black raspberry field.  The owner sends out emails and when I told her I'd be leaving to come there this morning around 8 she said that if they were all picked over, she'd let me know in time to head me off.  She hasn't yet so I'm planning to leave as scheduled.

AMY, I don't like celery so I don't buy it. But I'll check it out the next time one comes through my line.  Or if I get a recipe that NEEDS it to make it work, I'll let you know.

I've NEVER been called for jury duty.  I guess they must think I'm prejudiced so they work around me.  Interesting!

LARRY, I loved the photo...especially liked PAT'S shirt.  I hope you feel better as the day goes on!

I guess I better get on my horse!  It will soon be time to leave and I have to make a stop at the ATM before I head to the Raspberries.

Good morning everyone, going to be hot today and according to the weather guesser humidity will start going up again, that is the killer for me. Nice time to go visit Australia? Are any of you fed up with all the catalogs we get in the mail? I got 3 yesterday and never  heard of them before. Last catalog unless you make another order. I just tear my name out and they go into recycle.

CALLIE  the portable AC I have is 12,500 and did cool ‌to the bedroom as long as I had a fan blowing the air into the bedroom but now is hardly keeping it cool in here. About 1 pm the sun shines full blast at this side of the building and even with the shades down it gets hot.

LARRY  time for you to rest and take care of YOU. As long as you come in to say hello it will be enough.

JANE  good news that your eyes are not getting worse. I know how my Mom was at the end when she could no longer read. Then she was diabetic, too, and it got her eyes. Not much could be done 70 years ago.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link to Larry's photo. They look wonderful and those beautiful roses.

AMY  at times I wonder how I did so much canning at the end of summer in the heat. Would never be able to do it now. The older I get the more the heat and humidity get me.

JANE  hope the field of raspberries is not picked out before you get there. Oh I can almost taste the good homemade jam.

Have a good day and keep cool.

Good Morning everyone. well I slept in late this AM, went to bed late also last night. the reason for going to bed Late was going through ever cranny looking for the title of the car, we traded it off yesterday. It is wore out and has a lot of dents and scratches on it. we bought a 2015 Chrysler town and country with a little less than 60,ooo actual miles on the odometer. our old car had over 3oo,ooo miles on it. Good Morning, Seniors! Thanks for the photo, Larrry & Pat.... and posting, Bubble. Slow down with organizing that man cave, Larry, as my mother used to say, "Rome wasn't built in a day".  Hope you get rested up, you do mean a lot to all of us and we miss your chats & explaining what you are up to.

Amy, I noticed a big jump in the price of celery last time I bought. I can't make my meat spread or soup without it but find some often goes to waste, I don't "munch" it like the old days. I know I didn't pay $4.99 & you reminded me that I think there is some in the crisper drawer that needs to be checked on. I used to love potato, celery & onion soup with lots of butter in it, always save the heart for soups unless I am cooking "candied carrots". When I fix them I always cover the top with chopped celery leaves before covering with brown sugar. Hope you feel better soon & that Kyle gets his driver's license renewed quickly.

It is cloudy but sun was bright for a few minutes, had to squint. Have not checked radar but managed to get the bed all made up & clean pillow cases on all the pillows I pile up to watch TV on that king size bed. The cats are sure those pillows are for them since I don't sleep on them & don't watch TV in CO. I even managed to get the pool vacuumed before it got too dark last night. The body wants to go back to bed but I haven't had my breakfast.

Cats fed & not sure where they went to sleep, they spent the night out but it was humid so I didn't open the door for them to pester me. They have been unhappy because a man from "down the street" has been using the path behind my house to fish from.... he is too lazy to create his own... and the cats won't go down the hill with me as long as he is around. They sit at the top & watch. Last year I did mention to him that the area behind where he lives (rents) always had a deeper hole for the fish... but he didn't take the hint. We don't own that part that goes to the river but the rest of us respect the fact that we pay higher taxes to live here.

The city official I talked to when we first bought explained why they kept that part of the land from property owners. It was included in the "section" that was sold before this one & people built docks & closed off parts, caused a problem for the Fish & Game department. Anyway, he prevents the cats from taking a walk with me & they loved rolling in the sand & exploring as long as I was there to protect them from whatever wildlife was around. Callie was willing to go down with me since she was sure humans were okay as long as I was there to protect her. Still no sign of her.

On with the day, must check radar, it is looking grim out there.

Oops, Lloyd & Gloria slipped in. Lloyd, my little Buick Encore is a 2013 & has a little over 20,000 miles on it, but the RV is a 2015 & close to 30,000 now (I think). I thought I drive a lot!

Gloria, our bodies are running the same, the humidity knocks me out. I feel for you with that west sun heating the walls, too bad they didn't plant trees to shade that part. On the house we built I put room darkner (thermo lined) drapes across the whole living room wall, set the rods so the drapes could open beyond the big windows, but it also helped keep the heat off the west wall from coming in the house. I don't get any catalogs cause I never order from them & nobody gives them my name, I guess. Me & Amazon do a lot of business.

Oh, Phyllis, sorry you aren't up to par this morning. (((hugs))) See you tomorrow.

Hi everyone. It appears we will be staying in the high 80's today with a high chance for Thunderstorms later this afternoon.

A word of explanation on my strange posting yesterday. I think I have mentioned having had a few days disappear from my memory but only affecting certain events or dates. I have now had an occasional day where I simply couldn't make my mind accomplish anything. It is a very frightening experience and one of concern. I did awaken today feeling like my mental capacity has returned. Yesterday I  I was able to make a to make two calls. One was to my dentists office to cancel the afternoon appointment as the sensitivity had cleared up in my tooth and also was able to call and reschedule another appointment with my foot doctor.

The man from Lowe's was here an hour late for his scheduled appointment but fortunately I had already made my decision before yesterday.  The good news was that the furnishings from this room, including my hospital bed and desk won't have to be moved. A PDF document is generated from his visit and the order desk at Lowe's and they will contact us in a few days to a final cost figure for a fully installed job.

Today is Pat's 78th Birthday and she has finally caught up with me in speaking age. I am sure we will see Scott and the girls later today. Pat is still trying to get over all the medicine and is feeling better each day.

The aid called an hour early and when she got here she told me that 9 am will likely be my time in the future rather than 10 am.  I am very short of breath again today and took morphine early and will again at lunch.  This means that I will likely spend most of the day laying here on my bed.

Marilyne, the World Cup Women's group certainly have a strong case for pay parity and are to be congratulated for winning the World Title again.  Pat and I certainly agree with your comments about doing things such as cooking. Pat can't stand a dirty kitchen or bathroom.  I don't even like a messy kitchen and when I am mentally functioning I enjoy washing up a few dishes or emptying the dishwasher or dryer and then Pat gets frustrated with me for doing those things.

Rebot, I am not surprised that I posted in the wrong place yesterday.  Doing that posting took wasn't easy and was mentally disturbing.
Judy, at least you found it is your equipment and not something you have done at your house or your Internet receptions.  Pat has had ringing in her ears for years and needs some noise to counter it.  I was going to suggest  do a little research on Tinnitus and see you already mentioned.  It sounds like you may have a problem doctor who knows everything. Fortunately there are many good doctors as well.

Marilyn, I am happy to read that you are not struggling trying to keep up your house as well as Keith and the pets. I find I do pretty well in the morning but by afternoon am ready to just lay on the bed and listen to music or a funny rerun. Keith is probably doing all he can do.  I missed the Sunday services but have recorded them so not to late to listen.

Carol, I am having a problem of getting my bookmark set so that I don't have to relog in here daily.  At least I know what to look for.  I sure didn't want to post that message yesterday as I don't think it forebodes anything good but it is what it is and fortunately isn't an everyday happening to me.

Janet, thanks for the update on your visit to see your eldest sister. So sad that apparently your sister's husband is so negative to Hospice.  I was not aware of a five year limit but by the time we get to the Hospice stage I will take 5 more years anytime.  Thanks for giving me your BIL name and if you will email me his telephone number I will be able to know who is calling and won't consider it a robocall.  Even in my muddled state yesterday I asked the Lowe's man if he knew about Hospice as he has ill parents and he didn't.

Jane, while we always hope for improvement just maintaining is a victory for your eyes.

Bubble, thanks again for getting the link to the two pictures.

Amy, I sure wouldn't be eating any celery at that price.  I remember when a single apple started costing $1 or more.  Pat has some cute blouses but ironing has become very difficult for her.  I just bought a steamer that came yesterday and I have high hopes for it that maybe it will eliminate the ironing.  If not it is a local return at Penney's.

Gloria, from now until Christmas our mail boxes will overflow with catalogs. Most of ours just go directly into the trash can. I wish they would honor what they say about the last catalog if you don't order.  I have come to the conclusion that one has to reach a certain age to be able to understand what someone our age actually feels.

Lloyd, those documents seem to have a way of disappearing just when we need them.  That sounds like a nice replacement with the Chrysler.

Phyllis, I hope a day of rest will help restore you.

Shirley, there isn't much more I can do until the carpet is removed.  I think Amazon probably has me on speed dial as I have ordered so many things in the last couple of months.

I am running vey slow today.  So, I am just going to say "Hi"  and try to get on with the day.  Already past lunch time and I have done nothing.  Did not sleep well again last night.  I do have a doctor's appt. in a couple weeks and I am going to try to get something to help me sleep.  I am just exhausted.

Wonderful picture of Larry and Pat.  57 years is a wonderful anniversary to arrive at.   You both do look well.  You can just tell how happy you both are.  It shows in your faces.

I need to get something to eat.  Just wanted to make an appearance and I will try to get back later.

Have a good afternoon.

I'm back from the berry patch with my black raspberries.  Now I can make jam and share it with my BIL.  it's his favorite (mine too) and my sister doesn't make it any more so I try to keep him supplied.

The farm's emails have also been pushing blueberries and my neighbor friend loves them.  I asked her if she wanted to go along this morning but she wasn't able to. So I picked some for her and brought them back.  She was delighted and I feel better about accepting her driving whenever we go somewhere.

LARRY, nice to hear you sounding so much better today.  We all have a bad day now and then and that was yours yesterday.  I hope the next several will be good ones.

PHYLLIS, take the day off!  You deserve it.

LLOYD, Happy New Car!

AMY, about the celery...with the exchange rate, $4.99 would be less here than it is there!  Maybe SHIRLEY's matched yours in price after all.  I can't remember what it is and I'm too lazy to look it up but it has to be different.

I better go clean the raspberries and get them ready to make the jam.  That will be Thursday's job unless I come home from work with energy left over tomorrow or I get a sudden urge today.  Highly unlikely!

PS,  Hello, JOY, hope you feel better after lunch!

Got all the running around done then home to make soup and then do the cherries.  Ended up with 5 quarts and 8 pints from this  go with one bag left over to eat. :)

I use celery in salads plus soups , will take a bunch of it a cut into small pieces and freeze it just for soups. The rest I clean and wrap in aluminium foil and it seems to keep a bit longer in that.

Larry ,so good to read your post..Happy Birthday to Pat

Joy, good to see you,I hope you get a good nights sleep tonight.

The cold is making me look like Rudolf the Red nose reindeer. Will be so happy when this is over with.

Going to put away the gadgets from canning and put my feet up.
Enjoy your evening everyone.

Thanks for the tips about celery, Amy.... I didn't know it would freeze but then I didn't think... I know it comes in the packages of frozen mixed veggies... duh.

I finally got to the store & wouldn't you know, they had my Marie Callender "turtle" pie on sale & a dollar online coupon so I just HAD to buy one. Yum..... I got everything on my list (yes, Marie was on the list)... and only one other thing. The summer stuff was 70% off so I bought a grill brush for the next camping trip. I quit grilling for myself.

Now, Janie, I know you 'splained to me that we have to have summer but today is over the top. Humidity is so high it is actually breath taking. I feel so sorry for anyone that has to work outside, especially if they work in the sun with no shade. I hate being a mole all summer, but ....

I feel like a nap before going to bed. Tom & Tiger wanted outside (with their FUR coats on)... I am suddenly sleepy & so why not?

SHIRLEY, I forgot to tell you...I picked the perfect day to hit the raspberry patch.  It was pretty foggy when I got up and I was a little leery but the fog lessened to just "pretty cloudy".  That's the kind of weather I like for driving.  And it stayed and not humid until about an hour after I got home.  Perfect weather for picking berries!

Tonight, my friend and I went to the local movie theater (it now belongs to Bucknell University) to see the first in a series of Alfred Hitchcock movies that they are showing this summer "FREE"!!!  It was "THE BIRDS" and it was just as good (but not as scary) as I remembered it to be.

And now I'm off to bed.  Tomorrow is another work day and I need to be chipper.  Wish me smiles!  I wish you all a peaceful night and a good tomorrow.

Good morning everyone..

Going to be another fry day here. Happy to have the canning done yesterday. Just need to wipe down ,label and I can put the jars away. Now the floors need washing or they will pick up their skirts and head to the lake!

Shirley, you can only use the frozen celery in soups, stews or casseroles not in salads.

Jane, I love picking raspberries. Used to take my horse and head for the back fields to pick the wild ones....she also loved raspberries :)

Lloyd, I think you will be happy with the T & C as that is what we have and really enjoy it.

Oh Jane I too hope Rudolph finds his way back or folks will be using me a beacon light for airplane. My dose is sore..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  As usual, the doggies got me up at the crack of dawn and we ventured out.  Due to my discovery, I think today will be a good day.  It seems that, while I was at the movies last evening, some good soul came by and mowed my grass!  I'm one hundred per cent sure it was my son so as soon as I'm sure he's up and moving I'll send him my thanks.  What a nice thing to get up to!

AMY, a sore "dose" isn't any fun and neither is "sdeezing" all the time!

I'll be off to Wally World this morning so wish me smiles.

I wish you all a good day...even better than yesterday!  Go for it!

good Morning everyone. It is hot and steamy here today, AMY we sure do so far, the ride is great and dose not sway on curves.and it is amazing how great the cruse works, how simple  changing speed up or down is on the go with the buttons on the steering wheel is or when you have a good speed to set it on the cruse. lot of things can do that I/we have not learned yet. It is the most stable comfy car I have ever driven, the only thing not good is the owners Manuel dose not contain any thing in the way of info, have to figure it out by trail and air, all in all is the best car except for the Cadillac escalade i have ever owned, Have a great day.

Good morning everyone, going up to 90 today according to the weather guessers.  After today the humidity comes back again. Yuck. Better get outside early this morning if I want to get some fresh air. Smart weather gal on one of the channels was saying that days are getting shorter by 1 minute a day. I have not noticed because I lower the shades in the afternoon and do not raise them again till morning. At least it does keep some of the heat from the sun out. Then the heat from the blacktop in the parking lot bounces up to the building.

LLOYD  hope you find that title.

PHYLLIS  hope you feel better today. Glad you did stop in to let us know.

SHIRLEY  do you ever dry the leaves from your celery? I do, I wash them good and spread them out an paper towels and change to dry ones and let them dry on a counter for a couple of days and then when good and dry I put them in a jar and use them in soups or salad or for seasoning in different things. I do the same with fresh parsley, better than what one buys in the market.

LARRY  I cannot help but laugh at that last catalog on the cover of some of those pesty things. Most I never heard of before. They go to recycle without me even loo‌king through them.

JOY  I think we all have times of not sleeping good, I know I have nights when I do not sleep at all. Thankfully those do not happen often.

JANE  blueberries will not be ready here till the beginning of August. Those my son will get for me at the farm I like. They are not those big ones that have no flavor but smaller with a tart taste like the wild ones we used to pick but bigger than the wild ones. I do freeze a few quarts of them. My oldest son has a new dehydrator and is anxious to try it out and he told me he would dry some of the blueberries if I want. I do buy the dry blueberries for my oatmeal and use with other dry fruit in my morning breakfast.

AMY  I wrap celery in a damp paper towel and then in foil and seems to last longer. Never thought of cutting and freezing it for soup or stew.

SHIRLEY  you really do not have the send your humidity this way, you are just too generous BUT I can do without that hot wet air. It will start coming here early tomorrow morning, don't need or want it.

AMY  I always heard  that summer colds are worse than winter ones. I never had one and seldom ever got a cold.

Getting noisy here, landscapers are right outside this side of the building now, between the mowers and the leaf blowers it is loud.

Have a good day and try to keep cool.

This is very important to me and I hope it will make sense to each of you now and into the future.  In no way am I posting anything here seeking any sympathy or trying to get attention.  Rather in revealing what is going on in my mind on a given day I  hope to help educate about the sheer terror that folks going into dementia (I think of my mother as she faced this alone for a long time) must endure if in fact that is what is happening to my brain.  I have always hoped that I would remain like my Father with his mind sharp.  When I lay here and have no idea of how to even click on a switch I can see but don't know what to do with it I want to panic but can't.  To the extent I am able I will continue to try to be a good ambassador for Hospice but have to face the fact that I may not be able to do this in the future because I know enough about the way dementia may occur in quick steps.  Please bear with me during this journey (and today's posting may be a good example of the struggle I may face on a given day).  I hope this makes sense and you understand I am not asking for anything other than recognizing that on some days I may make no sense at all.

Larry, two of my friends are dealing with the same type of memory loss you're describing.
We'll love you just the same as we always have and I'm sure we'll be patient with your posts.

Monday didn't turn out to be as Merry as I'd hoped.

Just before son arrived for Fridge Fallout and new computer help....the a/c began blowing hot air again!  Same repairman came again and added coolant. He said he suspected that would be the problem.  I remembered his mentioning that on Sunday but simply didn't think to call the office and report on Monday morning.
However, he only charged me for the coolant and the Monday appointment (because, he said, that one "resolved the issue"...meaning, I guess, that he actually had to do some work ) and, since I have an annual contract for a/c-furnace checkups, I got a discount on the after-hours call.

So far, all is well and I really hope it stays that way.

Son is going to talk with the Geek who set up the computer because he isn't happy with the results.  Can't do anything about having to redo all the web sites I had in Favorites but there are other things that seem to have been filed "creatively".

I can use e-mail and, obviously, can get in here.  Also have most favorite web sites (like the ship and NYC web cams and e-books) on my Tablet.

Hope things are getting back to normal.

Also hoping Everyfriend Everywhere has an Enjoyable Day.

Larry, we are all with you on this journey because you have allowed us.... so as the eternal cheerleader, I'm begging you to blame the morphine and not your brain function that is causing this latest problem! Your mind is still as sharp as ever, don't doubt that.... but the relief you feel from the morphine will also let your mind rest as well. It is a package deal and do thank God it is available! Relax, talk to us when you feel like it and know we are in your corner the whole way. Because of you we will know better what we can do to help our families and ourselves. God give you peace as this stage of life moves on for you, I know you have FAITH to lean on, Believe, HE is with you.

Good morning!  I am back to normal...almost.  Feeling better today after a rough couple of days that were my own fault.  I ate corn on the cob which is something my Gastroenterology doctor has said I must not do because for Ileostomy people it can cause blockage. Thought I was going to have to go into the hospital again for surgery.  That has happened twice in the past but luckily didn't have to this time.

It is cloudy here with severe weather predicted for this afternoon so I want to stir around and get to the store this morning.  I don't feel like it too much but we have to eat.  I don't like ordering on line because I am a touchy/feely person that likes to look at and lightly squeeze fresh produce.  I still haven't been able to trust a "shopper" to be as picky as I am.

Also, I have to deal with a LOT of cucumbers and yellow squash my neighbor brought over yesterday on top of I still have a lot of peaches to take care of that a former neighbor brought to me a few days ago.  I made Peach Jam in the Instant Pot with a big bunch of them.  It turned out to be a little bit more runny than I like jam to be because the peaches were so nice and juicy.  I put it back in the IP on Slow Cooker for about an hour and a half yesterday so it would cook down and it turned out just right.  So good!  I think I'll go toast a slice of bread and put some jam on it for my breakfast.

Larry, I echo what others have said here.  We treasure you and are with you, at least in thought, while you make your journey.

Take care, Everyone.  I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Hi everyone. As far as I know I didn't take a sleeping pill last evening and Pat checked my medicine carefully for then and again today. I had gotten an extra sleeping pill in my noon medicine box yesterday. Unfortunately, as I sit here at my big computer with the oxygen on I am again dozing off to sleep again this morning. It is still about 3 hours before the aid will get here at 9 am to help me with my bath.

Scott will be over this morning to help us. Pat hopes to get a hair appointment this morning as the lady is suppose to be back from her vacation. I am not going to worry about getting a haircut at this time as not likely that I will be going out very much other than for a planned drive.

I had a nice visit yesterday afternoon from our Associate Pastor who is a kind and caring man and he is going to ask our new pastor to try and come and visit with me although going into a pastorate involving over 500 members to from one with about half that is quite a workload increase.

I was able to accomplish a couple of things yesterday like getting the Ring doorbell account canceled and now know I will have to deal with Dish again in terms of the remote controls that are suppose to be a part of the large smart TV control package that if you have Dish you see on the screen all the time.

The rest of the day I will probably just try to deal with the breathlessness by staying on the oxygen. I think finally, after seeming to say it over and over, this may be the day that Scott puts up the grab bars and gets things ready for the carpet removal and replacement with the vinyl. So it should be a pretty quiet day. I seem to be in my right mind this morning, which is encouraging if I could only stay awake.

Once again if my postings take some strange turns today don't be alarmed as our minds can do some strange things.

Janet, as I think back over a period of time I realize things have been happening and not just recently.  I remain optimistic and knowing I have the support from you all, is very encouraging.  I must admit I have never been this frightened in my life.  I have decided to start reducing the clutter in my life and am going to  return  all of the blue tooth devices I have acquired.  I have a beautiful TV with great sound and why complicate my life.  I am fortunate in that my family is very supportive of me and I know they will always be there for me and we as a society now have a greater awareness than 20 years ago. Thank you and all of you for your support of my loving family.  I went through this with my Mother and know it is a difficult family journey.  I also hope it is just medications but now sure that reflects any reality to what has happened over a long period of time.

I think I have tgo give up this morning and realize I just can't stay awake to write an intelligent posting.  I did make some rather long comments over in the Christian Photographer and Norm's Bait and Tackle Shoppe discussions.

Just a word to Lloyd, go online and look up the model and make of your car and you will likely find the whole owner's manual as a long PDF file.

well i was setting here reading over post. Larry i don't take sleeping pills and still do that sleep thing especially watching  T V. I think that goes with old age anyway. when I was young and driving over the road could go several days and night's with little or no sleep. but sleep comes often now days but the nap's make it hard to go to sleep at night.

Good morning everyone. Going to be a hot humid day here, already 76°. I already dread it.

LARRY  I never thought you were asking for pity. I think you are a brave man the way you are facing what is ahead of you. I appreciate what you tell us. I thinks we all dread dementia, I know I do. Your posts are always informative and much appreciated. You help all of us. I do not want to be a burden to my family. They have enough going on in their lives. Prayers are being said for you and your family.

CALLIE  we all need our AC at this time of year. I have used Windows 10 for almost 2 years now and I still miss Windows 7. Some things I still cannot find.

JENNY  I did get out yesterday morning. I do like getting some walking in out in the fresh air. I manage most days to do that.

JANE did you get a new coffee pot yet? I was looking through a Harriet Carter catalog last night and they have a one cup pot that does not take pods but any coffee you like The price is $24.98. I have ordered things from there before and satisfied with what I got and delivery is free. Hope today is much better for you.

AMY  Rudolf should know by now that he only should show up with Santa.

LLOYD  about time you star t playing more than working.

PHYLLIS  like you I am picky about produce. My son where I used to live know how I am and know he will get fruit the way I want. I ask my CNA and she will bring me  something that is hard as a rock. They never ripen but get rotten.

JOY  some mornings it takes me a long time to get moving. Like today, I am really late posting. Would rather be sleeping.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I finished the black raspberry jam 10 jars and an eater).  And I washed up the kitchen floor.  It was getting sticky.  I found 6 more pieces of glass from the broken lid.  I also got a call from the hardward store.  My new lid has come in so I'll get cleaned up after lunch and go pick it up today.

I'm still feeling very tired today and I'm thinking of throwing in the towel for the rest of the day.  It's supposed to rain this afternoon and early evening so I won't have to drag the hose around to water the plants.

I'm glad everyone is feeling better today.  Maybe I'll join you all tomorrow.

If you think of it, say a quick prayer for my granddaughter, Courtney.  She takes the test for getting into the College Masters program on Saturday morning.  She's smart enough to pass it but a bit nervous about taking it.

Keep on keeping on.  I'll try to be back later.  Now I'm getting my lunch and doing the errands.

On the  way home we stopped and bought 6 quarts of strawberries, gave one to our neighbour and will make a pie for Kyle maybe tomorrow.

Not a lot of energy here, so not much will be done tonight :)

Enjoy your evening everyone.

My brain is on overload reading over the new paperwork from insurance (roof) & trying to compare with what was put on in 2006 to make sure they put on the same quality roof. I've already noticed their mention of 10 to 30 year & what is on is 50 year with a 4 rating.... and online the brand calls it "lifetime". SO.... I forwarded the PDF on to son & daughter & so far the son wants to know if we didn't have thicker "felt" so I have to find that number. Cas' paperwork is full of notes & corrections because with that hail, they paid to replace wood on the fence, pool carpet, a building repair.... and I did NOT even look to see if any of that was damaged because "if I can't see it, it couldn't have been that bad". And I don't want to deal with more. Do have the RV appraiser coming Sat so will see what he has to say.  Goodness, this is where "two heads are better than one". The felt was 30# so need to correct that & will insist on 50 year since even if I sell in the next few years, that number would make a difference in price! I thought this would be a piece of cake since they have the record of what was needed in 2006!  If I had any hair with color it would be turning white today! Does anyone deal with straight out facts instead of trying to slip something past?  It is a job & I don't like it BUT.....

Amy, the strawberries sound good right now. I am hungry & see it is past my normal supper time... and the cats'.  They have slept all day, weren't even hungry when they came in this morning. Do need to walk them down to the river so guess I'd better get off this chair & MOVE IT!

AMY, glad you had a good trip to the city and good news when you got there.  I've been doing some odds and end all day.  A few errands (I picked up my new lid and it fits!), stopped at the store for a few items and swung by the ATM machine for a wallet refill.  I guess that's about it!

Good night everyfried.  Sleep peacefully and wake refreshed in the morning. An may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..
My it is muggy out now . We did have some nice rain yesterday along with cracks of thunder that made the pup bark  .
This morning tis off to the chiropractor for Kyle then home to clean berries.

Lloyd, I hope you can get the tickets for the dinner cruise. That sounds like a lot of fun!

Jane, good to have a lid that fits now no breaking this one.

Gloria, I don't care for muggy weather, everything you go to do make it feel twice as difficult to do. Love Fall and Winter despite the work that comes with it.

Phyliss ,happy  you feel better and hope today is even better. You gave me a giggle with the touchy feely as I am also that way with produce plus my fabric too!

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm a little later than usual because I'm doing what my husband used to call "dopping around".  That means "moving about but not getting much done".  I think I better get my brain organized and accomplish something today.

Last night when I was getting ready for bed, I decided I better check the calendar and see what time I had to go to work.  SURPRISE!!!  I DON'T HAVE TO WORK TODAY!!!  For some reason, he didn't schedule me today so here I am with a whole extra day!

I kind of wish I had the green beans that I'm getting on Sunday.  I'd whip them into shape in no time.  Maybe I'll get out the weed whacker and go around the fence with it until it gets so muggy I can't move.  I might have to finish that off after the sun goes behind the trees in the early evening.

However, if I sit here chatting, I won't get anything done.  So I bid you all a fond farewell.  Enjoy your day, whatever it brings!

JaneS - Just dropped into Soda Shoppe today, to tell you that I'm envious of your free Alfred Hitchcock series, at the local college!  I would be first in line, as I love all the Hitchcock movies.  My favorites are,  The Man Who Knew Too Much, with Doris Day and James Stewart  - Vertigo, and,  North By Northwest.  I hope you have a chance to see those three, plus all the others are good too.

MARILYNE,  I don't think they're showing NORTH BY NORTHWEST...also one of my favorites.  My other two are THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH. and  REAR WINDOW and they're showing both of them.  I'll watch extra for you.

I got the weed whacking done before the humidity got to me and just in time because the weed whacker decided to act up.  So I shut it in the shed and came in the house and cleaned out some cupboards.  Now I have room for my Instant pot.  Tomorrow I'm going to play with it. I was tempted to play today but other things were calling my name.

I'm going to have to drag the hose around this evening because Mother Nature never delivered on the rain she promied yesterday.  I shouldn't have depended on her.  She lets me down more often than she keeps her word.

I think I'll try to finish my "goofing off".  I have some stuff to look up on line and I'll do that first.  Do whatever you please with your day.

Jane, happy to read your IP came!! Now you will be cooking up a storm.
Took Kyle to the chiropractors then stopped for tea/coffee. We also picked up dog food, time to put this pup on regular food from his puppy food. We are going to take him to the vet  to see what he weighs at 8 months. I say 75 lbs so we shall see.
Made the strawberry rhubarb pie which decided to bubble over but this time I put a catch pan underneath for easy clean up.

Not sure what will be for supper yet, don't feel like eating much yet. Just had an hours nap ...again.

Good morning everyone.

Another fry day here, great for drying laundry :)

Will work with the rest of the strawberries putting some in the freezer for winter. The pie was ok, but next time I won't put orange zest in it, found it a bit over powering...but   we will clean the pie up.

I see the pup is cleaning the glass on the door......bless him.....now I will follow up and remove his tongue prints.

Not sure how  the day will go, have laundry to do plus I have some things for my friend and we may take them to her.

Gloria, isn't it great when you can get a good nights sleep? Plus it would be nice to wake up with no aches and pains too!

Larry, you are missed..hope all is well there.

Joy is mia also.

Good morning to you Roley hope your day is wonderful..

Better get going

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfrend! And a special "Good Morning" to you, AMY.  I see you're talking to yourself this morning.  Seems you closed us up last night and opened us up this morning.

WHERE IS EVERYONE?

Last evening, I went with my friend to movie night at her church.  I always enjoy it more because of the people than the movie.  But last night the effects of the weed whacking went along.  I spent then evening wishing I had stayed home.  My left side in the middle of my body hurt so bad I couldn't think straight.  When I got home, I took two alleve, plastered it with pain killer and went to bed.

This morning I feel at least 98% better!  And I slept pretty well most of the night.

Today, my plan is to take trash to the dumpster and make a WM run for groceries, etc.  Then I'm going to play with my new toy when I get home.  I'll try to get used to it and then set something to cook either for supper or wait until tomorrow's dinner. I'm READY!!

I hope Everyfriend has a special day!  Make it your own in every way!

Callie has returned! I opened the garage doors to let the hot air out & she was sitting, looking in like nothing wrong!  I had just seen a little black kitten in the back yard as I started to go down to the river... it darted into the berm & I was pretty sure not my imagination. When I saw Callie I figured that baby must have followed her... no clue where she may have been for the last 3 weeks (one week while I was gone & 2 weeks today since we got back). All stayed out for the night & only Tom at the bedroom door this morning. He came on in for breakfast but no sign of others.... until I opened the front door & Callie walked in like the old days!  She had breakfast & I let her back out into the pool area. Tiger came in to eat & now all are back out, no sign of the black kitten.

Have a bathroom commode that ran all night, not the kind you can jiggle the handle to stop but the little tube that fills water back up won't shut off. My arm isn't long enough to reach back to turn the water off so had to listen to that all night. These were special made & do need to be replaced since fittings in the tank are different & couldn't find them when last needed. Will be a major job since carpet will also have to be replaced & new flooring installed. That carpet was put down at least 8 years ago, wanted to go with tile or hardwood floors in bathrooms then, but... and now it can't wait so will be having a roof & bathrooms torn up at the same time. Guess I need to adopt a plumber & have all 3 taken care of & not need to deal with it again! Not how I wanted to spend my summer.

The trees are very still this morning, sun is up & can feel it starting to heat up. I'd better get moving since the adjuster will be here to look over the RV & hopefully my son will come to either fix that commode or turn the water off to it. I would hate to have it running until Monday, I remember last time the water bill sky-rocketed.

Wishing all a wonderful week end, sure hearing a lot about the storms along the Gulf Coast & earthquakes on the west coast. Be kind of nice to just sleep the rest of this summer away!

I have returned to the land of the living and it feels good to be back.  Yesterday was another "lost" day.  I hardly moved from the recliner.  We were getting very close to being out of some needed grocery items so I managed to think well enough to make a list and David did the shopping.  He did a good job of finding everything on the list so we have successfully avoided starving for now.  ;) I slept so well last night for the first time in days (or nights?) and feel so much better this morning.

It is to be another hot day so I won't be going far away from the A/C.  I'll just putter and catch up on some things that I have let slide for the last several days.  I need to set some cucumbers and yellow squash to being pickled.  I love cold, crisp refrigerator pickles on a hot summer day.

I'm missing Larry.  I hope we hear from him soon.

Take care, stay well, and stay cool, Everyone!

Good morning. It is a pretty sunny morning here, but supposed to get hot again.  Most of the weekend is supposed to be nice.

AMy, I thought I wrote something the other day about being MIA.   I had missed some of the messages but just when back and read all the ones I missed.

I agree with all the comments that have been mentioned about how we all feel about the journey that Larry is on.  I am another one who really admires him for taking charge of his life now and doing just what he wants to do.  I, too, feel bad when I think of all he is going through, that my little problems aren't that bad.

I am not feeling all that great this morning, as I am having some issues.  I had to go to one of the Urgent Care places, as I couldn't get in to see the doctor.  I do have a UTI and am on medicine that isn't making me feel so good. So, will spend a lazy day.

We were supposed to have steamed crabs today at my son's, But I was able to cancel the order until another time.  I didn't think that I would be able to go. Disappointed, but that is ok. There will be another time.

I didn't sleep well, so I can feel a nap coming along.  Have a great day.

Joy

We did go to the market and give our friend their "stuff" along with tea for her and a coffee for him.  Hung some laundry out and when I went to hang another load it started to rain. We do need this rain and hope it continues for the rest of the day..

Shirley, nice that Callie finally found her way home....and she even brought a guest!!  You can get waterproof flooring for your bathroom.
https://www.flooringinc.com/blog/waterproof-flooring/

Joy, you likely did but my head is in a fog ,this cold needs to be gone and fast! Coughed most of the night so I so think a nap is what the Dr ordered. You made my mouth water at steamed crabs!!

Jane, I often talk to myself..as long as I don't answer all will be well. :)

Bubble is also mia.

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND🦋🦋

I did not get in to check on you all yesterday, and I missed you!

I had email contact with LARRY and he is not feeling up to posting but seems to be doing a bit better.  I know we all feel the same about this dear man.......we are just lost without a post from him and all dread the day when there will be no more😢😢😢. Tears come to my eyes when I think about him.

Kurt and the two boys came down from Vail Thursday afternoon.  We all went to dinner and then we had to get the bed made for the boys as they spent the night before we took them t9 the airport early yesterday morning for their flight back to Boston.  Kurt stayed in the guest room.  We stopped for breakfast on the way home, but then had to head down to pic) Grandson Matt up and bring him up our way to his tennis match.  Thankfully we were able to get a nice spot in the shade and watch his match easily right in front of us.  Then we had to get some lunch as he had a tennis lesson that afternoon.  Picked him up from that and took him home at 5 PM.  NOW THAT IS A LOT for us old folks in one day! 😩. We came home after a quick bite to eat and hit the "rechargers" aka recliners!

SHIRLEY, I am so happy but surprised that Callie Cat has returned!  WOW!  Don't you wish she could tell you where all she has been?

Yea, JANE.  A day off and your new pot has arrived.  I bet you will have fun trying it out.

AMY, did I ever tell you how much I love Strawberry Rhubarb pie??  Wish I were close enough to drop in and have a piece of yours💞💞

I must get busy and get something accomplished.......🥰🥰🥰

Have a great rest of your day!

Jenny

Jenny, thank you for letting us know about Larry.puts ones mind at ease and yes we all know there will come a day...for all of us. I must admit I was so disappointed in this new recipe I tried, it called for orange zest but it over powered the pie!! Will make it again but without the zest.
I just told Kyle it takes me two days to do what I did in one anymore. Prayers for Michele, hope she soon sees the end of treatment.

Another day & must say, this life is certainly not boring! Insurance adjuster for the RV came & after much checking, decided it deserved a new roof because the "rubberized" part had so many dings that would eventually "bubble" and separate from the rest of the structure.... so that means everything on the roof, all vents, antenna, AC, etc... will have to be removed (even that ladder on the back)... replace & make sure no water has invaded any of the spaces under... & put all back. Not a cheap proposal so next is finding someone local that can do the job. All this means everything stored in those cabinets will have to be taken out (and where do I store them?) & put back in before the next trip. My full days are fuller.  :crazy2:

I walked down to the river with all 3 cats, they were thrilled that it has dried out enough for me and them to explore that area that used to be under water & became a beach a few years ago. I will have to take camera down to show you my "woods" right in the heart of a city. So neat & I do appreciate being able to live here. Pure dumb luck finding this place... Cas chose it for easy access to highway to KC. I do believe that God knew I would treasure this spot, and I do have neighbors that have the same option but never go down to their part of the river bank. How sad is that?

Amy, I checked out your link in hopes it was something that could be sprayed on.  ;)   Since this is a utility room where the litter box is I would have to have washer & dryer moved to replace that floor & didn't want to do that when having the oak flooring put down in the kitchen/family room & hall outside that utility room. We will keep the Clorox & the stuff I bought to "kill the smell"... handy & it will get scrubbed. Today I talked Callie out of going in there & offered her the door to outside & propped the door to the pool area open so she doesn't have to climb. We'll see how this works out. The kitten did not show up so hopefully it found it's way back to where ever it came from. Right now, tonight, my world is okay.

I gave up & called #1 son to check out the commode for me. He was concerned at first & expected to need to replace the whole innards (with some jerri-rigging).. but jiggled one thing a few times & explained "if it had a grain of sand or anything, it worked loose"... and stopped running. Showed me what to do if it happens again & insists this is not the time to have all bathrooms remodeled!  I am SO relieved. This was not the "flapper" part but inlet for fresh water ... in case anyone else deals with their own problems.

Nearly 9:00 pm & my supper has been heated 3 times so far so guess I'd better eat or will be time for breakfast. I had planned to get to the grocery store but never got away.

Larry, if you peek in, God Bless.... I hope you feel up to posting tomorrow. The morphine is doing what it is supposed to do, make you relax. Can you imagine that my husband, his mother & our daughter do not respond to morphine at all.. absolutely no relief from pain for any of them. Doctors can't believe but all 3 given anything else had immediate relief.

Sweet dreams for all.... and Gloria, share that angel dust that Joan sent you!  I'm expecting a good night without water running.... what a week it's been. Oh... it's Saturday night & I have to shower & wash my hair, up early for church!  I am not with it tonight.

Lloyd glad you had a good time. We listened to those sales talks in CO before. Son bought & has been enjoying theirs, they "bank" the weeks & use them in different areas, taking one week in CO soon, just he & his wife. One year they used 2 weeks at the same time & took kids & grands to Hawaii with plenty of rooms for everyone... 3 bedrooms each so total of 6. They furnished plane tickets for Christmas presents. I think they bought International ones as well as US. They are doing what his wife enjoys (better than camping)... but he still loves the camping.

All you suffering with colds or just aches & pains, I'll say extra prayers while on my knees in the morning. I go early so I have time to talk to God about my family in here. HE knows, but I explain, anyway.

Good morning everyone.

A beautiful morning here, temp is 58° and a nice breeze blowing. A day of rest here, wonder if it will take me two days to do it in. :) I know there will be a cat nap in the day some where as we both were up coughing..

Shirley, what is the base you are working on......wood? cement?? you can get an enamel paint  and the new paint today doesn't have that awful smell to it. Best check with your son and hardware store for information on it.

Jane, did you try your IP? I made supper in ours last night, figured if I served Kyle eggs again he might start crowing!! Had baby potatoes, carrots and a piece of peameal bacon ...cooked for 12 min.

Enjoy your day everyone.

It is still summer in NC.  The temps. for the whole week are supposed to be in the mid to high 90's.  The humidity drains me.

We ate light last night.  Didn't feel like cooking or eating.  I fried some bacon and we had BLT's with Creamy Cucumber Salad and Peach Compote for dessert.  It was plenty to eat and not too heavy for a hot day.  I bought a little spring form pan that fits down into the Instant Pot.  I want to experiment with some cheesecake recipes I found.  Jane, how is it going with your IP?  Are you having fun with it.....or second thoughts about buying it?

Shirley, glad your son fixed the commode that was running on and on.  I can't get down to shut the water off either so I'm glad David is available to do it because that water running all the time would drive me crazy.

I miss Larry but know that he can only do what his body will let him do.  I hope he will feel like coming in today.

Lloyd, my younger son and his wife have a time share at Disney World that includes all kinds of cruises or just a few days relaxation at DW or one of the other Disney parks.  They love it and go either to FLA or somewhere every year.  One time they took a Disney cruise through the fjords in Norway and another time they cruised in Alaska.  They often take a cruise through the Caribbean.

Amy, I hope the coughing has disappeared and you and Kyle can get some rest.  Have you tried some honey and lemon?

I need another cup of coffee.  Take care, Everyone.

Good morning everyone. Had a hard time getting in here this morning, was afraid the site was down. Of course this lemon PC is temperamental, yep, must be a male one.

JANE  no fun when your back hurts like that, believe me, I know how it feels.

SHIRLEY  listening to water running is sure not like listening to the ocean waves or a bubbling brook/river flowing by.  Glad in here I can reach to turn the water off except the shower.

PHYLLIS  glad you finally had a good night's sleep, that helps us big time.

JENNY  I am worn out reading what you and Bob did in one day. Glad you can keep that busy so often. Thanks for letting us know about Larry.

LLOYD  glad you finally said NO to that time share.

AMY  I cannot make up my mind what I want to do today. I know I will be staying inside, already up to almost 80° and the trees are not moving.

Hope Larry will pop in and just say hello.
Have a good day.

Hi everyone on a relative cool day here in Georgia.  I am so hopeful that the confusion of the last couple of days when I was definitely in a state of memory failure is gone for at least one day.  Let me tell you it is a dreadful place to be in as everyone is telling you it will be all right when you can't do anything but plead for help.  If I don't post on a given day take it that I am back in the state where I cannot post.  I was pleading for help and all I seemed to get was people patting my hand and telling me I wasn't experiencing what I way.  Perhaps I did take too much medicine and certainly hope that is the case.  Pat thinks I have become dehydrated again.  It has never made sense to me to take a salt pill three times a day and then limit fluid to no more than 1 1/2 liters.

I don't have much to write about from yesterday since I wasn't here.  I will try to come back and edit my posting for comments from the since I last was able to do a quick edit.

A little after noon the brother of the lady we have given the 60 inch television to came and picked it up.  Then Scott went to Lowe's and took care of the carpet and it is scheduled to be installed tomorrow.

Amy, I can't even describe what it is to be put into a dementia state and fortunately my wife picked up on the problem and started me drinking water.  It sure doesn't make sense to me to take salt pills  times a day and limit fluid intake to 1 1/2 liters of fluid.  After drinking the plain water all night I am all right again today and not even short of breath. I will be having the suggested number of electrolytes each day as well to keep a balance.  I am sure my feeble attempts to write about it made no sense to anyone but me and someone else in dementia.  Thanks to everyone who helped and now my son knows the process so hopefully this won't be a problem in the future.

Callie, glad you got your A/C fixed.  You might suggest dehydation to your friends as a potential for their suffering demenia.

Jenny, I had no idea it was dehydration again but will work hard to see that it doesn't happy again.  I appreciate your kind words and I assure you suffering from dementia is not something anyone would ever want to have if they could avoid it.  I have taken off over 50 pounds of fluid in about a five week period so that probably also contributed. I think Pat did have a good birthday and she now has the type of headphones she wants.

Shiley, I wasn't having much success on my journey with you as my mind told me one thing and I was sensing something else appaentely false.  I do remember an intern I had one time who siad about 70% of older folks come to him dehydrated so it is certainly a problem to watch out for as believe me you don't want to go there.

I think I had better end this and get on with something else. See you all tomorrow.

Good morning.  Pretty sunny morning this Sunday.

So good to see Larry's post this morning.  I, too, hope that the medicine is what is playing havoc for him. Medicine can really do weird things to a person.   I have experienced times like that and it isn't fun !  Hopefully, today will be a better day for him.

I am feeling a little better than yesterday.  Not doing too much, except am waiting for my son go come down and fix something for me.  Other than that, no special plans for today.

Good morning to this morning's friends, Gloria, Amy, Phyllis, Lloyd and Larry

I hope everyone will have a wonderful Sunday.

I'm back from church & breakfast at McDonald's. Absolutely MUST go to the store today so better do it before I start thinking about a nap, did not get enough sleep last night. My own fault, didn't eat supper until nearly 10:00 pm & still had to shower & wash hair & lay out clothes. Cats all stayed outside for the night & each came in separately for breakfast. Tom smelled the salmon & tuna & didn't want any, Tiger came in as Tom went out & she didn't like the smell, either. Callie came in & cleaned up the bowl. She went out to the pool area to join Tom & Tiger. Bless her heart, she tries so hard to do what she thinks I want her to do. Guess I will have to try harder to convince her what is acceptable & even take her for a ride in the RV to see how she acts.

Haha, Gloria, this is how I looked after a night of dripping/running water.  :crazy2:  :uglystupid2:  :crazy2:   :uglystupid2:

A good Sunday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

Sadly, my Dad is back in the hospital....he was having chest pains yesterday afternoon......they stopped so he thought it might be heartburn, but then they came back with vengeance.  They called the paramedics and after checking him and treating him for heart attack they transported him to the hospital.  The doctor there said she wanted to keep him and run tests today, so we shall see what it is?  Bless his heart, I just do not want him to suffer and that includes him having to go in to assisted living....he will not be happy there 😢😢

EDIT: just called the hospital and they told me my Dad is going home💞💞

LARRY, it is so good to see your post this morning.  I hope you continue to enjoy a clearer mind as I can only try to imagine how frightening it is when one can not think clearly.  Hang in there and here is a big HUG for you.

SHIRLEY, you have so much going on, I feel bad for you. You sure did not need the extra stress of having to have the entire roof replaced on the motor home, however it is the only way to go to ensure it is going to be water tight.  Best of luck getting prepared for that project to be done💞. Oh those kitties do keep you on your toes!

JACKIE, I am always so pleased to read you were able to go to church.

AMY, I just have to ask, what is peameal bacon?  I am sorry to read that the orange zest seemed to over take the flavor of your pie.  I bet I would have loved it any way🥳🥳

Yippee LLOYD, happy you and Nancy enjoyed a nice time in Branson.

JANE, I eagerly await the news of what you cooked in the new IP?  I do hope you are feeling better today.

PHYLLIS, I am happy to read you are feeling so much more with it now!  🦋🦋

I need to call the hospital and find out the room and telephone number so I can check on my Dad🙏🙏

Enjoy your Sunday.

Jenny

Well, I had all the pieces of the IP out and all the directions and I read everything while looking it over.  Then I did the test run and that worked fine.  So I decided to cook the chicken I bought yesterday to make dog food.  I usually do it overnight in the crock pot and then, when I get up in the morning, I still have to grind it and pack it for the freezer.  I was surprised (and delighted) that it only took a total of 16 minutes to cook it all and that included the prep time for the pot to get up steam.  I think I'll keep it.

Among other things today, I got green beans at the Farmers Market.  I think, if I come home from work with a little energy left over tomorrow, I'll make ham and beans in the IP.  Sounds good to me.

I not only got beans, I got tomatoes, peppers, corn and brussels sprouts and everything is cleaned and ready to use except the beans.  My plan is to snap beans while I watch TV tonight....some for eating and some for freezing for veggie soup to can later on.  I'm collecting all the fresh veggies I can through the summer and I'll make the soup late September or early October.

SHIRLEY, my husband once said his luck was so bad that if he was starving and it was raining soup, he'd be standing there with a knife.  I think that's your situation right now.  I sure hope you get a spoon and a very large bowl very soon.

JENNY, I just said a prayer in church this morning for your father and for Michele and her family (that includes you).  I knew Michele needed it but the one for your father was "just in case".  So there it is!

LARRY, so glad to see you posting!  You have been a good teacher for all of us and you're not finished yet.  We all need to hear what you have to say.  Want you to know that my prayer this morning included you and Pat and Scott with a "thank you" to all of the people who have lent a hand on your behalf.

Now I'm going to grab a little nap before the fur kids decide it's time to eat.  I swear they know how to tell time.  They also know when the TV show I'm watching has 15 minutes to wrap up.  That's when they have to go out...and boy, do they ever have to go out...NOW!

Enjoy the rest of your day!  Do it YOUR way!

Looks like everyone is handling their problems very rationally. Larry, for starters, I am surprised but so grateful that you remind us how serious being dehydrated really is. I know I don't drink enough water, never did, but each time you have another episode I give myself a kick & talking to. Thanks. I do know that when it comes to the morphine it is up to you on how much it takes to keep you pain free and calm and not have the mind play tricks. My mother's eyes were darting at the wall one evening when in the hospital.... she had requested NO pain pills at all... so I leaned over and asked if she saw something on the wall. She insisted there were bugs crawling. She was going through withdrawal but was afraid to tell anyone what was going on in her mind. She was relieved when that stage was over and remained lucid to the end, until that nurse gave her a shot that shut down her kidneys. I do hope all of you together can find the balance between what you need, including the electrolites, and the meds that keep you comfortable. I think you have a brilliant mind and truly believe it is not your mind but pills or lack of necessary nourishment (including water & salt) causing your problems. This is NOT what you saw your mother go through! Your mind is still sharp, you can tell when it "runs lean"...

Jenny, so sorry about what your father is going through & know how it pains you to not be there to help. I am guessing that when the doctors don't believe they can help someone they are willing to let them just be happy (like going home). I am convinced that when the doctors saw Cas they made a slight change in a medication and knew nothing they did was going to make a difference. By letting him come home that day he got his wish to die in his own bed. Is there any chance he may be ready for home health care or Hospice?  His doctors should know whether they are able to handle his situation and not have this stress on you.

Jane, I'm the original Pollyanna & still see each of these messes as a "blessing in disguise"... and probably the extra work is good for me because I am basically lazy & will do only what I HAVE to do unless it something I just WANT to do. These jobs should keep me out of trouble for quite a while.  ;)  Interesting about the speed of that IP.  I bought a whole chicken today to put in the Dutch oven & bake/roast. My mother used to make such delicious chicken in this cast iron pot. I know I will be disappointed with my results, but am picturing that golden brown chicken & the smell as she took it out of the pot. I have some celery & onions to put inside but what I don't remember is whether she used Crisco or butter. When I bake a turkey I use Blue Bonnot inside to make all the good juices for gravy. Even the cats are tired of rotisserie chicken, so I will share with them. My store had the chickens on sale for 77¢ a pound & this bird is over 6#... I do realize it is not like the ones my mother fixed... hers were fresh killed. (I hate to think of that). I could become vegetarian if I thought about what I'm eating too much.  :'(

Phyllis, your supper last night sounded so good... I am getting worse & worse about the evening meal & guess it is the heat. I decided those bacon bits would work on a sandwich & got a head of lettuce today & a nice big tomato that even smelled like a tomato... but that sandwich isn't going to hop together without my help so will have to get off this chair & put the body in motion!  The lettuce has been awful lately, I still like the iceberg on a sandwich. One of the hamburger places here started using leaf lettuce & I have them "hold it".

Joy, you seem to have your life on a pretty even keel these days... except for a hiccup now & then. I smile every time I read a post from you that you have actually got it all under control. How'd you manage that?  As we used to say back in the day, "I'm all ears!"

Do hope everyone with a cold gets over soon, summer colds always scare me because infection can set in so much faster with hot humid weather.

Tom had his supper, he took a nap with me this afternoon. Tiger didn't want to come in & is laying on the step outside where she was hours ago. Callie met me at the garage door when I came home from the store. She came in the garage but wanted to stay out there when I came in the house. That is a "no-no" now, so after 10 minutes of coaxing her to come inside I gave up & turned the leaf blower on in the garage & she went on out. I feel mean about it but was hot & was leaving that door open to the kitchen & letting the cool air out. I've bent over backwards with Callie, I know she doesn't understand what I want but how many ways can you say, "come on in!"?  My window thermometer shows about 100 degrees in the shade, but Accuweather says 91. It is very still & humid & miserable.
