Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend. There's DDs to go with your coffee or tea.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks to Bubble for her lovely graphic creation which we are using this week.

Chuckles

At Building Supply Store

A man goes into his local building supply store and orders 10,000 bricks.

"May I ask what you're building?" asks the man behind the counter.

"It's going to be a barbecue."

"Wow, that's a lot of bricks for one barbecue."

"Not really. You see, I live on the 12th floor."

Food For Thought

Commitment - A Dying Trait
(By Stephen Kollock)

I have a friend who builds houses for a living - a process that fascinates me. Not just building houses but constructing anything on a grand scale; from ships to bridges to the house or apartment you live in.

When we had our house built, I was able to see the process first hand. The first thing they do is level the land on which the house is to be built. Once that is accomplished, a foundation is dug. Then comes the floor to support the walls, which support the second floor, walls, which support the roof. All of it was lots of work, taking months to finally get to the finished product.

The reason it took so long was because it had to be done right. If one stage was done wrong, the whole thing could fall down. It takes time to build something - at least to build it right. It takes planning. It takes skill. Most of all, it takes dedication. Building anything the right way it takes someone dedicated to doing the job right.

On the other hand, it doesn't take much to tear something down. It doesn't take a whole lot of skill - picture me with a sledgehammer in the middle of your living room. In a matter of minutes a bulldozer can bring down a house that took month's to build and has stood for years.

Seems strange that something that was built with such care can be destroyed so easily. But it's always easier to tear down than to build up, isn't it. It's easier to throw out than to bring back in. It's easier to stop than to keep going. I think in our lives today we are missing an ingredient that it would serve us well to revisit: commitment.

Remember commitment? It's the idea of saying you are going to do something and then actually doing it. It's saying I will marry you no matter what and then when "no matter what" happens, staying married. Or saying I want to have children and even when they become the little monsters you swore your kid's would never be, you keep being their parents.

Commitment is saying you love and appreciate your parents and all their sacrifices for you, to the point where you will bring them to your home instead of "shipping them off" to the nursing home in the winter of their life. The problem with commitment is really simple though; commitment requires something most us do not want to consider: sacrifice.

Commitment may mean sacrificing your time or your money or some of your own dreams because you said you would. It means walking through the fire that will inevitably burn you because you knew going in that hurt could be part of the deal. But more than that, it means staying the course until the end, no matter what the cost. Commitment means sacrifice.

I am afraid in our society we have made it too easy to turn from our commitments. We find it so easy to just stop if something gets too hard, to walk away and start over later or with a different person or maybe in a different place.

We are a people of excuses. And the excuses are mostly to relieve any guilt or apprehension we have about one thing: not living up to our commitments.

Here are some examples of those who display the kind of commitment I'm talking about and wish I had more of. The single mother working two jobs for the simple reason that she made a commitment to her kids. The father who goes to fight for his country because when he signed up he knew that was part of the job. The pastor who stands up for God even when he knows it will cost him his way of life.

I admit it, I've taken my share of shortcuts, letting people down along the way. But the problem is so many people take most of their commitments with a grain of salt. We have looked and found all kind of exit clauses and loopholes to get us out of any commitment we make. Now it's as easy to get a divorce as it is to get married. If you don't want the child you are carrying, you can always go to a clinic and skip the commitment that comes with parenthood. We often say we believe in something until it's really put to the test.

Sadly, many Christians have fallen into this "limited commitment" category. We are often committed as long as it doesn't interfere too strongly with what we like to do. We all like to pick and choose. "I agree with the part about adultery but the part about honoring God with everything seems a little outdated."

With commitments like these and sacrifice being a thing of the past, is it any wonder our houses are falling in?

Thought of the Day

"Great marriages don’t happen by luck or by accident. They are the result of a consistent investment of time, thoughtfulness, forgiveness, affection, prayer, mutual respect and a rock-solid commitment between a husband and wife."

- David Willis

Good morning everyone..

I would dearly love to sleep in but I guess that isn't happening any time soon.Today is a day of rest here...just have to get a load of wood for the wood box and make meals...easy peasy

The weather guesser said it is to warm up this week with  a threat of either snow or rain by Wed/Thur...I for one want to not dance with the snowblower or shovel.

I cooked salmon for supper last night and have enough leftover for today.Just need to whip up a dessert...hmm rice pudding will do the trick or tapioca pudding..

Kelly ,good morning to you!

Joan, love the blossoms ,great graphic, thank you Bubble for sharing. Joan I will look for my raspberry DD to have with my tea..thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hi Sun
It is worth looking at voice recognition as it is very good and I have used it for a number of years.

The software is quite expensive, but i think  it is better than the cheaper software.

Hi CallieOK
I am not sure what Bill Bryson meant.

The Isle of Man has no motorways, you call then Highways I think.  It has no flyovers and has narrow roads.

It has old transport, now used as what the Island used to be like with transport.

Such as horse pulled teams, in service since about 1880.  A small steam railway, still using the same rolling stock from 100 years ago.

An electric tram system and a electric Mountain tram system with again teams from 100 years ago in use.

Manx cats which have no tails.  And other things that are to do the Island.

These are what we see as what the Island is about. To Bill Bryson it might seem quaint or in his words peculiar perhaps.

Good morning, Amy.  Hopefully you won't have to date the snowblower or shovel again until next winter.  Salmon sounds sooooooo good.  Extra DDs are in the hidey hole.

Janie--Good morning.  We'll see you after church.

Good morning, Lloyd.

Good morning everyone, cold below freezing again but sunny to start the day, if it isn't too windy again should get warmer later.

BUBBLE  love your graphic  in use for this week. Different framing for beautiful flowers.

JOAN  now you know I cannot pass up a lemon DD at any time of day. Glad I don't live in the same building as the man in Chuckles. Food for Thought, oh boy I think we all nave know someone who were not into Commitment except for what they want for themselves. Thank you for today's goodies.

KELLY  Moghrey Mie, have a good day.

AMY  a shovel or snow blower would not be the dance partner either. Beautiful to look at if it stayed off roads and walkways. In the low 20
s again here this morning, would love to feel the warmth of a wood stove or forced hot air. Baseboard heat leaves much to be desired. Nothing to get near for that bit of warmth that we like feeling.

JANE  don't rush too much.

LLOYD  good morning.

Good Morning from the warmer,
and breezier Rocky Coast of Maine.

Just a few more weeks and it will be May,
which usually is and outstanding month
here in the North East.

The buds come out,  They begin to bloom
and farmers plant their seeds.

Such glorious times a head.

I do know that the Golf channel is not
showing the golf live at the masters.
I have listened to enough of it this week
so I will wait until this afternoon,
when the real golf on the final day
of the Masters, is on CBS.

In the meantime,  I have plenty of shows
recorded and choices on Netflix and
Amazon Prime,  to keep me happy
until then ...

Happy and away from the bogus so
called "news" stations,  which have
nothing to do with real "news" ...

Oh happy day!
Sandy
:crazy2:

Happy Sunday!  :coolsmiley:

Hi everyone. It got rather chilly here last night getting down to 39 degrees at 7 am but is now warming up a bit.  I am not sure how comfortable the people at the golf course watching the Master's have been this week.  Today should be better as I don't think we will have the gusty and steady winds of the last couple of days.  We will not make it to Sunday School  this morning as Pat is moving slowly today.  I did fix her some fruit and some scrambled eggs with ham and cheese to help her conserve her energy to get ready to go  to church this morning.  Nothing else on the schedule for the day.  I will watch the last round of the Master's this afternoon after listening to at least some of Don's Sunday Music program on the radio and probably getting in a little nap.

Callie, Pat and I played party bridge for many years but haven't played for probably more than 5 years and am pretty sure we won't again.  We will now play Hearts or Spades or a more simple game, which is still fun.  I was also raised playing board and card games.

Joan, the plants are easy to care for or I wouldn't have them.

Joan, that is indeed a beautiful graphic you shared with us for this week. Bubble you do fine work with your graphic, as do the others who have shared their talents in that regard.  Always thankful to Joan for her faithful and diligent work to share her many efforts for us and selecting the graphics that help make this discussion so pleasant.

Kelly, it sounds like the IOM is a very unique and pleasant place to live.

Good Morning,

Kelly,  Bill Bryson wasn't describing the Isle of Man as such.   He was commenting on the number of islands in the British Isles and wrote "quite a number are only kind of British".  He gave the Channel Islands as an example:  <quote>  "Citizens carry British passports, but have no representation in Parliament and aren't officially part of the United Kingdom. They are a 'Peculiar (italics mine)of the British Crown'.   So is the Isle of Man."  <end quote>

I've never heard the term "Peculiar" used this way and wondered if you could explain why that particular word is used.

A silly dream woke me earlier than usual this morning.  It involved a friend from church and I hope she's there this morning so I can tell her about it.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Good morning, Sandy.  You say soon it will be May--can't believe we'll be into the fifth month of 2016 so soon.

Larry--Good morning.  How nice of you to prepare Pat's breakfast so she will have the energy to go to church.  I have neighbors who go to watch the entire Masters every year.  Sure not the nicest weather for standing outside all day.  Thanks for your kindness in acknowledging our graphic artists and my work for the SS.

Callie--I sure hope your friend is at church.

Lloyd--Thanks for the link.

Hi CallieOk
The Isle of Man has its own passports, but has its own Government.  It does not need a representative in the UK parliament.

It does have reciprocal agreements with the UK, but can make its own laws.  The laws do need royal approval, but the laws are Manx governed.

Good morning, early for me.  33 when I got up, but not as windy.

Joan, thought of the Day, is so very true, thats why Cyriel and I lasted 62 years. I was far from perfec  and he sure was not perfec, but thats what makes life interesting, we were never board. I stil miss him.
As always I also will have a lemon DD'

Bubble loved the Spring graphic, thanks

Lloyd I too, am waiting for spell check to come back. also I still am trying to put my Temp. thingy in here.

Sandy, this time they had the golf on one of the sports channels, 36 here.  I watched all day yesterday, and one of my neighbors came in for a few hours and wtched with me.

Larry, I lived in Southampton whe the USOpen was played there, it was course was a half mile from our house, so you know how busy the roads were, and people were renting there houses out for big money. Our property ended on the 18th green of another golf course. My sons use to sell lemon aide out there on hot summer days
Gloria we did not get the snow that was in yesterdays forecast, I did not see if you got any.

Good Morning dear Amy, I am happy to hear you are taking a day of rest. That is what Sunday is for. Where I live now there are no activities at all for Sunday, except a church service, and then activity for those who care for us. The rest of us tend to have a quiet day.

Bubble, a lovely graphic for us to enjoy. Thank you.

Bis, doesn't spell checker have to be a part of your individual computer ? I have one but never installed it, and now all by itself, it not only shows it is spelled wrong, it corrects the spelling itself. This does not work with my email however.

Callie, the British seem to have many various in language that we never use, even though it is called English Language here, we certainly do vary.

Hal..me too..gotta get a move on, I have just 28 minutes to play here, then off it goes. It is a short walk from one building to another as we have our own Chapel here at Rowntree Gardens.

Don, have a fun time with your music today. I am so glad you are able to do it again.

They are threatening us with flash flooding in So. Ca., but nary a drop of water yet. They said it would be from Orange Co., Riverside Co. down into San Diego area. Nature has its own way of keeping us on the alert.

Title: Spell Check in Edit Mode
Post by: Sandy on April 10, 2016, 01:49:02 PM
When I click on "REPLY"  and
the posting box comes up.
I start my typng ,   if I miss spell words,
automatically  a red line shows up under my
miss spelled words.     Right then and there,

I    RIGHT CLICK on the word
that has the red line under it,
and a box comes up
given me correctly spelled words.

I simply   click on the word that it
spelled correctly and  it replaces
my miss spelled word.

This only works in the box that I am typing in
when I click on reply.

So there is a way to use spell check when the
Spell Check at the lower right is not working.

It is working for me now.

Sometimes I type a long post and before posting,
I RIGHT Click  on all of the word that have a red line
underlining them.  And choose the correct spelled
word to replace them  ...

I do one red underlined   word at a time.

Until all my words are spelled correctly.

This is easy and work now!

Try it..
And good luck
Sandy
:crazy2:

P.S.   I use the Google Browser "Chrome", , and this might just be a feature of that.    Because it also works in my Yahoo Mail  program.

Well, I'm finally home to stay.  I went to church at 8 a.m. and then stayed for coffee.  After that, I went to WM to pick up a few things I need and then home.  I had just finished putting them away when I got a text that my son was at the ER with my DIL because she had a swelling in her throat and was having trouble breathing.  I asked if there was anything I could do and he said, "Not right now, thanks, I'll call if I need you."

Kiran has been taking piano lessons from a student at a nearby university and was to have her first concert today.  I felt bad that she would probably have to miss it.  I had not yet changed my clothes when the phone rang and it was my son.  They had admitted Sarah and she immediately sent them home to get ready for the concert.  Did I want to go along.  I did and we went.  She played a memorable rendition of HOT CROSS BUNS!  And we clapped loudly.  All the student did well but, of course, Kiran was the BEST!

Now I'm home to stay for the rest of the day and I think I already hear the sofa calling my name.

FYI Sandy: I'm typing in the posting block and I tried to click on a word that came up underlined in red and the entire rest of my post is now underlined in red.

(Sigh)  One more time:   In the book I'm reading, the term "Peculiar of the British Crown" is NOT a judgmental description; it's more of....I guess you'd call it  "a governmental thing".  Kelly described that situation on the IOM very well.
I  love words and wondered about the origin of the term "Peculiar".    I did my own search but the only thing I found was in a History of Jersey (an island also designated "A Peculiar of the Crown"), which was a reference to some book titled "A Grammar of the Norman French of the Channel Islands".
That's TMI for me, as I suspect this thread is for everybody else so .....That'll do.

I've just had a most pleasant experience with a Cox Internet Tech.    After working just fine all morning, my internet connection stopped and none of the suggestions for fixing it myself worked.  So I called the toll-free Cox number and was connected to "John".
Not only did he fix the issue,  he could tell that I have an outdated modem (which I knew) and is sending me a new combination modem/router - which will not only be free but will reduce my monthly bill by $4.00. He's even including a pre-paid box so I can send the old modem back.
Now that's what I call service!!

Jane,  so sorry about your DIL and hope that she is alright.  Glad you were able to go to Kiran's recital.

The sun is shining but the wind is so strong that I chose to attend church via t v this morning.   Will have to wait to share my dream with my friend until another day.

Now that you write of it, I recall on my Uncles farm…the cows had to be milked and fed, turned out to pasture. The pigs and chickens had to be fed, and my Aunt had to cook and do dishes. I guess the "rest" came in between the chores, where folks would grab a nap after a big dinner, and there was no revelry of any kind.

FYI: Sarah still has her tonsils and has been sick all week.  Seems they are both so swollen that no air was able to pass them.  They are giving her strong antibiotics and trying to reduce the swelling.  I'm afraid that at the age of 36 or maybe 37, she will have to lose her tonsils.  Not an easy thing for an adult but at least it's not as serious as it could be.  I'm on call for Kiran!

Callie--Kudos to the Cox rep who certainly covered all the bases.

June--I never had the opportunity to be around a farm. :(

Janie--I'll be praying that the swelling of the tonsils abates and Sarah can have them removed without incident.  My husband had his out after we married--he was 35.  Quite honestly it was no piece of cake.

We haven't heard from Shirley for quite some time.  Anybody heard from her?

Joan,  Shirley posted on the "Slide Shows and Home Videos" board yesterday.  So, she is still around.   I think it was #50 posting.

I didn't make a note of what she wrote about..... just noted that she was on here yesterday.

Thanks for the good wishes for Sarah.  I haven't heard any more since we came back from the concert.  I'm sure my son is tired and with a little one to care for alone, he's probably got his hands full.

I just got a text from him.  They just got back from the hospital. He probably won't answer until he gets Kiran settled for the night.

Well it was sunny all day but not that warm. Getting so no one goes outside here anymore or gather in the library. Too quiet.

JOAN  you know I will always  enjoy a lemon DD.

LLOYD  hope you got the rain you need today. That is some flying boat you had the link for.

GLORIA de  I make sure I leave some lemon DD's for you. We didn't get that snow either. Don't want to see any more till next winter.

JANE  My brother that was wounded in W2 finally came home and had to have his tonsils removed. He was in his late 20's then. I wish the best or your DIL. Of course Kiran was the best at the concert.

Hi CallieOK
Not sure about,  one more time and (sigh)

I do not think Bill Bryson's 'Peculiar of the British Crown' is a judgemental decision and I don't think my post hinted at that.

Whatever Bill Bryson writes or other authors and reporters write is how they see the Islands in this case around the United Kingdom,  And we welcome whatever is said in praise and equally we welcome constructive criticism.

As an Island we cannot improve our standards unless we learn from what others see.

I looked up peculiar and two of the definitions I saw were 'unusual' and 'different'.  Now Bill Bryson perhaps used this phrase in a nice way for the Island as it is as some see it like life in London and other large cities in the UK, but in the 1960's.

If Bill Bryson had visited the larger cities of the Uk, then the quaint lifestyle here might seem ' unusual, different, peculiar' to others.

Actually many people get the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands mixed up.  And the lifestyles and culture are so different.

CallieOK thank you for bringing the topic to my notice and I have welcomed your comments.

Kelly

Sun, what Kelly, Hal and Rick and others were talking about is a type of software for your computer. It allows you to speak your commands to the computer rather than using your hands to type. I use the Dragon voice  recognition myself. There are different types and styles of Dragon software by Nuance.

Callie, I googled "Peculiar of the British Crown" and found this:

Peculiar of the British Crown (http://peculiar%20of%20the%20british%20crown)  Quiet a list, but I couldn't find Isle of Mann.

Off to bed,  Watched golf all afternoon, finished up watching at my Granddaughters house, we went over there for supper.  What a disappointment.

I have had a nice Sunday. A big Ham dinner after Church, with a delicious slice of coconut cream pie for dessert. Took several long walks and just enjoyed my life.

My prayers for a good night for all of you, and I send you Love, Hugs and Prayers. June

CHUCKLES

Cosmetics

Mickey's wife bought a new line of expensive cosmetics guaranteed to make her look years younger. After a lengthy sitting before the mirror applying the "miracle" products she asked, "Darling, honestly what age would you say I am?"

Looking over her carefully, Mickey replied, "Judging from your skin, twenty; your hair, eighteen; and your figure, twenty five."

"Oh, you flatterer!" she gushed.

"Hey, wait a minute!" Mickey interrupted. "I haven't added them up yet”.

Food For Thought

Simple Community
(By Michael Newnham)

I grew up in a very small town [in Oregon], allegedly around 2500 people.

I say allegedly as it may have been more or less than that...we weren't real open to census takers.

We had one restaurant, one tavern, one gas station, two grocery stores and four churches.

The elementary school sat on the same property as the high school and the bus dropped all of us off at the same place.

My grandmother, my mother, and myself all attended the same school.

My mother and I had a couple of the same teachers.

These were the days before Californians and environmentalists, the days before we knew how much help we needed from such to maintain the place where generations had lived well and died full of years.

A good living could still be made in our forests, so the living was good after work.

Everyone knew everybody else or at least knew a lot about everyone else.

We knew who drank too much, who smoked weed, who was a homosexual, (we had no notion of "gay"), who worked hard and who was lazy.

We had some odd ducks in the community, including one fellow who spent summer afternoons lounging with his hogs inside the pig pen from which he would wave at passers by.

They seemed happy together...

It was as diverse as any other group of collected humans, with all the same issues.

Despite that, we lived in peace.

We did so because, as far as I can tell, the town only had one rule.

No mean people allowed.

A small town will turn into a hellhole under the burden of unnecessary conflict.

It was a requirement to treat others with respect, even if you didn't like them.

We went along to get along for the sake of the community.

If you really didn't like someone you just pretended they didn't exist and they did likewise.

We accepted "diversity" because each person could be as "diverse" as they wanted as long as they didn't impinge on others "diversity".

However, if you beat your wife, or beat your kids, or just wanted to beat people up (physically or verbally), you had to move on.

We would assist you in packing.

We would insure you safe passage out of town and do so with vigor.

The world has become a lot smaller since those days.

The internet has shrunk us into a global village...but one without the rule we had.

We are free to be as mean as hell and the world wide web is often a snake pit.

If you think, vote, or worship, differently than someone else there will be those who will descend upon you like locusts to tell you how stupid, wicked, or ruinous to truth you really are.

They will do so as if it were not only their right, but their duty.

No one learns from the collected wisdom of the community because everyone knows it all already.

There are no real consequences to being cruel, so basic human decency has disappeared with a mouse click.

We are known, but only as a name on a screen that may or may not be the one our relatives bid us with.

We only exist until we are clicked away, others exist until we do the same.

It is a bloodless, soulless, way of life.

We think it real, but life is in the blood...

I would gladly give up all the internet has brought me...all the information, all the access to knowledge, all the access to the world...to return to the ways of simple community.

I want to go home.

Unfortunately, I hear they have the internet there now, too.
Make your own application.

Hi Sun
I was trying to explain that I use voice recognition instead of typing via the keyboard. It is because I have a hand disability

But voice recognition can be used by anyone who has a hand problem or not.  If you or anyone has or has had discomfort in the hand, voice recognition is an ideal solution to help with hand pain.

This post you are reading is not typed, but is composed by me speaking the text and the software typing it in.

Good morning everyone.
Well it looks like I will have the first waltz with the shovel today...looks like 3 inches of new snow and it did rain some. Almost the middle of April and we have snow still!!!

If roads /weather permits I will go pick up some pills at the vet ,that is a 40 -60 min drive one way and hilly!

Jane,I hope Sarah recovers quickly if she has to have her tonsils out.

Kelly , good morning.

Gloria, I will share my snow with you  ;D

June farm work is hard but rewarding and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially this time of year as it was one of miracles for me (births) calves, lambs, colts loved it!!!

Joan, thank you ,will need that breakfast to get me through the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Annie of all "people" woke me up this morning.  She must have really had to go!  She's the one who would sleep in till noon if I did.  Mickie is usually up and at 'em.  She was very gentle about it.  She shoved her nose in my face and gave me a very wet kiss to wake me.  Not a bad way to be awakened.

I'm going to lunch with my former coworkers at PA House Furniture today.  I really enjoy getting together with them.  They're a nice bunch of ladies.

Haven't heard anything about Sarah yet this morning but I'm sure Philip has his hands full getting Kiran ready for school.  Sarah usually helps Kiran lay out clothes for school the night before so it will be interesting to see what kind of outfit they come up with this morning.

Doggies are getting restless.  Must be time to fee them.  I'll get my coffee, too.  BBL

Good Morning Everyone!

We had some rain during the night.  Must have been gentle, heard no thunder or no lightening that I am aware of.  Hope we got enough to do some good.

Amy, I remember the year I went to Canada and we were staying in a motel looking for a place to live, it was May and I looked out and it was snowing to beat the band.  Being an old Texas boy I was fascinated, although I had seen snow in June in Cheyenne Wyoming in 1950.  And I saw a mixture of snow, sleet and rain and some very cold weather later in the year while living there in Canada.

Janie, I hope Annie had brushed her teeth before giving you that wet kiss....

Joanie, hope your day goes well for you.  Nothing scheduled here, that I am aware of.

Morning Kevin, did you see the post I made last night on "Peculiar" as applied to the crown.  Also there was one by Callie.  One of those "peculiar" things in life.

Well coffee ought to be ready, as usual, anyone care to join me you are welcome.

Good morning everyone, raining again, not much today but more again tomorrow with strong winds again. April is living up up it's reputation for rain. I am here at the PC but sure don't feel awake yet. Maybe a day to go back to bed.  Don't feel like talking either.

JOAN  will pass the gull breakfast this morning, I think tummy would not enjoy it. Even my coffee didn't so poured it out. Simple Community reminds me how this town was when I first moved her 65 years ago. A small town where people who lived here worked here. Then mills closed and the older generation started dieing and city people started moving in and wanting here what they had in the cities.  No more peace and quiet. More absentee landlords and new houses. Progress is now always good. Thanks for today's goodies.

Kelly  good morning.

AMY  no more snow wanted here
JANE good morning

LLOYD  good morning.

HAL  good morning.

PHYLLIS  good morning.

Good morning, halkel.  We still haven't had any rain.  Weatherguessers say it'll start on Wed.  Not much on my schedule either.  Mondays the oxygen delivery tech comes to refill my liquid oxygen and on the afternoon the Eucharistic Minister from church comes.

Phyllis--Good morning.  I have laundry to do, too.

Janie--You'd better "make hay while the sun shines" if you have to return to work next week.

Good morning, Gloria.  Sorry you aren't feeling well.  Hope if you rest today you will feel better.

Hi everyone.  Today started out for me at 52 degrees and is to get to 75 this afternoon, another beautiful day.  I have a light schedule for today.  I plan on attending a meeting at noon today and will stop at Target either as I go to the meeting or afterwards to get some gardening tools.  I really enjoyed the golf tournament yesterday and its very surprising finish.  I felt for Jordan Spieth as his game fell apart toward the end after having led the tournament for three days and it looked like he was going to win again yesterday.

Joan, it would be interesting to get your friend's reaction to their week in Augusta and being at the Master's.  I sure wouldn't have wanted to be on the course, especially during the very chilly morning and windy and cool afternoons.  Yesterday afternoon was probably much more enjoyable.  The weather sure didn't keep the thousands from attending.

Kelly, do the Manx laws ever get disapproved by the Queen?

deAngel, your son sold lemonade from his stand before local governments started licensing and regulating everything like children's lemonade stands. The major impact I noticed in our little town just across the river from the Master's Golf Course was we had a lot fewer in church the last two weeks and it was not only the tourney but also was spring break and many people left town.

JaneS, glad you were able to attend Kiran's first piano recital.  I still remember playing in an annual recital, which was not my favorite thing to do.  Sure hope that there is nothing seriously wrong with your DIL.  (I see your later postings about it being related to her tonsils.)

Sandy, I use the same Chrome browser and the spell check works the same for me as it does for you.

Joy, I have used computers for over 30 years and still am learning new things and new ways of doing things.  This often comes from what someone here describes in terms of a procedure to follow.

Callie, not all dealings with our cable companies are bad.  In fact, I have usually found the people I talk to very pleasant, although may not always be helpful if their script doesn't deal with the problem I need help with at the moment.

Amy, I agree about the joys of spring on the farm and the new born animals, which are always so cute.  Did you every raise pigs and see the little piglets?

Good Morning dear ones. Had a good night and a happy awakening. Did my daily readings, did my therapy exercises and massage of these arms and legs that are harmed by clogged arteries, and thankful I can do something to help myself.

Amy, you are the best. I can see that you get Joy from the natural beauties of life. New life, both in animals and all of nature. Even out there dancing with your snow shovel. You are most inspiring. Thank you my friend.

Hal, thank you but I already had my first cup of coffee and now indulging in a big bowl of frosted flakes with a sliced banana. That is a "lotta" food, but my banana is very ripe so had to use the whole thing.

Gloria, I hope your day improves as it goes along. I will happily take your rain..sun is bright here. Maybe you should look into Sr. Living near where Regina will be living. Plenty of sunshine in Arizona.

Bis, It's a slow day here today, I may go down for a movie at 1:30, otherwise I will do some walking, and letter writing. Also need to gather up some stuff to take down to our Bargains and Blessings shop. I brought too many linens with me that I don't need.

Larry, It will be nice here too. 71/55. Sun is shining brightly. You mentioned buying garden tools, are you planning on planting some seeds ?

With the re occurring discussion here on British overseen lands and customs along with the difference between American English and British English, I thought of that when I saw this book on Amazon today.

British English from A to Zed: A Definitive Guide to the Queen's English Kindle Edition
by Norman W. Schur (Author)

Whether you are traveling to Great Britain or just want to understand British popular culture, this unique dictionary will answer your questions. British English from A to Zed contains more than 5,500 British terms and their American equivalents, each with a short explanation of the term’s history and an example of its use. The appendixes provide valuable supplemental material with differences between British and American pronunciation, grammar, and spelling as well as terms grouped in specific areas such as currency, weight, and numbers.

This dictionary will help you unravel the meanings of:

• Berk (idiot)
• Bevvied up (drunk)
• Crisps (potato chips)
• Erk (rookie)
• To judder (to shake)
• Noughts and crosses (tic-tac-toe)
   And more!

George Bernard Shaw famously said that the British and Americans were “two peoples separated by a common language.” This book bridges that gap.

Amy--I am picturing you rubbing Hector's tummy. :) :)

angelface--I'm not familiar with those words, but remember Gladys had some that made is giggle.

Beverly--I go to bed around 10 p.m. and the TV lulls me to sleep.  As you can see from above, I well remember Gladys and some of her sayings.

Some of the English words you used are slang words.  And many of the proper words would be said the same in the UK, Isle of Man and America.

Now Cockney rhyming slang, now that is different!!

JOAN  I did hardly anything today. I had an Ensure for my breakfast this morning and that was it. For supper I made an egg sandwich. Wasn't hungry but knew I had to eat something so scrambled a couple of eggs.

LARRY  we have not had a whole sunny day in a week. Either cloudy and damp or raining.  No wonder I don't feel like doing anything.

JUNE  my roots are here and that is where I will stay. I would not be able to start over in a strange place. I like my 4 seasons too much.

BEVERLY  I grew up in a city and moved here when I got married. Now I do not want to go into a city for anything. This town has grown in 65 years but there are still country roads with only 1 highway going through.

JANE  glad you had a fun lunch with those old coworkers. Hope you got that nap before picking Kiran up. Any news about your DIL?

ANGEL We had friends and he wife was from England. We got some laughs at some of the things she said when she first came here. I think we all miss Gladys.

Have a good night everyone.

Well, time for bed.  My nightly routine has been taken care of and checked all my cyber friends to see how your day went.

They once again are saying good chance for rain tomorrow and next day.  Figures I have to go have an ultra scan tomorrow afternoon.  Don't mind the scan but where I have to go at that time is going to be the pits.  Lots of traffic.

Gloria, I hope you get in better spirits tomorrow.

Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweetdreams

Sarah came home from the hospital around noon today and is feeling much better but she will have to have her tonsils out at some point.  She has way too many sore throats and tonsils a bit swollen at times.

Good Night Everyfriend! I'm off to Dreamland!  I wish you pleasant dreams, peaceful sleep and a tomorrow filled with whatever you wish!

JANE, happy that Sarah is home, but it sure would have been nice if they had just kept her and taken the tonsils out and not make her have to go back to do it.  Hope she feels much better tomorrow.

Michele had her PET Scan today, so now we wait and pray that they do nit see anything that is not wanted in the scan.

I wish you all a good night of rest.

Food For Thought

"Do One "Future Thing"
By Bob Perks

I always tell you to live in the present. You can't do anything about the past. We aren't promised tomorrow. Still because of my present life I have come to believe there is something of great value in doing at least one thing each day for the future.

Sometimes the present is so dark and dim that we can't believe in better days ahead. There's no reason to go on.

So, I suggest that, like I am trying to do, force yourself to do at least one "Future Thing" each day.

Doing so breaks the grip of depression ever so slightly that the small light of tomorrow will appear like a beacon.

One Future Thing confirms that you believe this isn't the end.
Please. "One Future Thing"

I was asked after posting this today what one "Future Thing" did I do?
I hung new curtains in my bedroom.  Well, not new just different ones I had in the attic.  Making such a change said to me that I really didn't want it all to end today.  Why would I change the curtains?

G'morning ALL..  A nice bright one here in the south, hope you wake up to the same Lloyd  :), now that spring has it's foot firmly in the door, I guess you will soon have the better weather to get all of those problems sorted out...
Reading of the past few days  correspondence about the word 'Peculiar', I thought perhaps this web site may be of some help, it's been many years since I had to struggle  with that one !, Google search > www.royal peculiars-the association of English cathedrals < you may find it of some interest and as K-E-L-L-Y from the Isle of Man says, don't even think of the 'Cockney rhyming slang' :crazy2:,  still, it's good for a laugh amongst friends !  :2funny:
                                                                                cheers.

A good Tusday morning...weather has been very changeable, getting warmer but intermingled with sun and downpours practically every day....

Not long taken in 7.30am my delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables.... cant order from Abel and Cole anymore, they dont yet deliver to this area but I am back with Riverford organic deliveries...

I am expecting to take in parcel deliveries that are due today, already taken in a cream metal dish drainer....cream mantel clock is due later...

Tonight I shall be going to the MS meeting, 7-9.30'ish, just a 10 minute drive, R will of course take me and stay.....

Our BT engineeer ( Openreach ) turned up yesterday, put a new socket in the office for our computer, moved our telephone back into our living room, got that up and working properly again so, this should be the last time I/we here of BT....

My MS has been playing up bad these last few days...my right leg has come live again, it never gives any warning when an electirc like spasm takes hold....my stomach, hips and lower backside is also stiff, ache'y and uncomfortable, turned a heavy feeling again, think the leg has peaked so expecting all to die down soon....

Yesterday we got a second maintenance quote for work that needs doing to our outside of home, re, dampness seeking through....we are accepting his quote, he will start work in June which includes painting the outside.....This man knew of our surveyor, didn't have much good to say about him as he had heard of someone else claiming back some money due to him not picking up on everything, work needing in doing that he missed....R phoned our surveyor who told him if he gets 2 quotes on outstanding work, he would compensate financially, lets hope he does because we have quite a bit of money to fork out....

R is in contact via email with our old next door neighbour, who tells us there have been decorators in our old house, and that owners have chopped down all the trees from the back garden overlooking the field, which next door neighbour is not too happy about as he said it gave there garden shade.... I just feel sad for my birds, oh I wish that we could have sold to a nature lover, someone who would have appreciated the wildlife, trees and birds...

Joan, love reading Bob Perks, especially his today advice....

Lloyd Hammond, thank you I really enjoyed your link yesterday of your version of Ave Maria, Daniela de Santos...

Roley, bright here too in Dorset but I hear we are due some heavy rain, again.....

Good morning everyone..

Nice to wake up to no rain or snow!!! They are calling for rain but that is alright,I don't have to shovel that.

Chasing dust bunnies today, and getting some sewing done is in order. Have a pot of pea soup that will take care of lunch and rice pudding for dessert.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Went to bed a bit late last night and got up a bit later today.  I felt very tired last night.  Much better today.

For those of you who might have missed it, my daughter-in-law, Sarah is back home from the hospital.  She will need to have her tonsils out at some point but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Today is "putz" day for me.  I need to do a bit of laundry, take my trash to the dumpster, vacuum the LR, clean up after the dogs...nothing of any significance....just putzing!

I hope you all get to do exactly as you wish today!  Make it a good day.

Good morning, roley.  The sun is just rising here, and a warm day is forecast.

Good morning Jackie/Vanilla.  It sounds like you are still getting settled--new items, new suppliers, work done on home and still more scheduled etc.  I sure hope you get compensated for things you are having to get repaired that were not noted in the inspection.  Hope your MS settles down.

Amy--Good morning.  Oh happy day--no date with a shovel or snowblower.  Chasing dust bunnies is w---.:)  Pea soup sounds so good.

Good morning, Janie.  I sure hope Sarah can get those tonsils out fairly soon so she doesn't keep getting sick.  Sounds to me like you are going to do some w--- today, too.  I'd better hunt up my demerit ledger and find the pages for you and Amy.:)

Good morning everyone, warm this morning in the upper 50's but rain on the way again. Very windy again, too.  It was whistling around this corner most of the night.  Woke me several times. Sure would not like living where it is windy all the time.

KELLY  Moghrey Mie. Some days there are so many posts I cannot comment  to everyone so no need to be sorry. Some days I feel chatty and others I just read and say little.

MYCHEAL  no sun shining here today. Too bad the areas that need the rain do not get it, we have had more than enough here lately.

HAL  these gloomy rainy days are not nice to Art H Ritis. Makes it hard doing anything, even sitting here typing. Hope you get lucky and find the traffic light and a place to park closer to the entrance.

JANE  glad Sarah is home. I never had my tonsils out. In my late teens and early 20's I had a strep throat every year. One doctor I saw here asked when I had them out and then said they must have shrunk with the strep infections and all the penicillin shots I had at those times.

JENNY  I pray that the PET scan is clear for Michele. Would make her and all the family thank God.

SUN  good morning.

JOAN  an Egg McMuffin sure will taste great this morning.
Just Like Mom-he deserved that smack. Hope my sons never said anything like that. Like the Bob Perks story today. Like today's quote. Thank you for today's goodies.

ROLEY  glad you are having good weather.

JACKIE  if R stays at the MS meeting and listens he will have a better understanding of what you are going through.

AMY  I'll be there for lunch. Love home made pea soup and rice pudding is always good.

JANE  after all this time out of work will you find it hard having to get back into the routine of getting up early again?

LLOYD  good morning.

Gloria, I'm sure things will change when I go back to work.  For instance, I won't be sitting here with my second cup of coffee, still in my jammies at 9:15.

Sarah didn't want to have her tonsils out right now since we are ALL going to Texas for the wedding in a few weeks.  She will be missing work then and has already lost a week and she just changed jobs and is hardly into the new one yet.  I'm thinking that she will do it after school starts in the Fall.  She cherishes her time with Kiran in the summer and if she's in school, no one has to be responsible for her while Sarah is under the weather.  Kiran's schedule will go on as usual while Sarah recovers.

I'm off now to get dressed, make the bed and ....do "stuff"!

Good Morning Everyone!

Dark, dreary morning here.  Not cold, but the wind is cool and it feels like rain.  And they say possible storms tonight.  I hope nothing like they got up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area yesterday.  Grapefruit size hail.  Now that will ruin your day.

Janie, guess you are counting down now till you go back to work.  I hope your foot holds up with standing like you have to.  Happy to hear Sarah is out of the hospital and back on her feet.  How things are changed from my youth.  Taking tonsils out was the thing to do back in my childhood.

Got to go.  Being paged.

Hi everyone.  It is a gloomy and dark morning but a nice 64 degrees but headed up to 70 degrees this afternoon.  We have a 50% chance of showers at various times today following some showers during the night.  I have the whole day ahead of me with nothing on a planned schedule.

Yesterday afternoon I used my new gardening tools, a nice size shovel and hand rake and got the 4 twenty-eight pound bags of planting soil in the big planters.  Then as I was putting my hand cart away in the garage I discovered there is something wrong with my garage door opener.  I finally got the door open but had to manually let it down.  I have printed out the manual and will look at it later today.  I did note it is guaranteed for 5 years but didn't see if that extended to labor costs.  We have decided to get a second tomato plants as the container is certainly large enough to support two to three plants.  We will get a different kind and compare the output after the season.  We also need to get the herbs and another nice flower for the ceramic flower vase that is on our back porch.

Just this week we decided to use our dinette table that is in the sun room rather than our large dining room table to have our meals on.  We have this heavy duty steal cart on wheels that is great for putting the meal on to get to the table in one trip and for clearing the table.  This way we can enjoy our back yard as we eat as have windows all around.  We can no longer see our big family room TV but we can get the Dish Anywhere on our tablets and on my phone. I found a little picture frame holder that serves as a nice holder for the phone and now we can watch the news or another program while eating, which we have done for years.  So the dinette table is going to work very well for us. I have never liked dining at the dining room table over the years. Pat moved her 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle to the dining room table and this was actually what brought on the change for us.

June, no seeds in our gardening plans just some already started plants.  We don't want to push our luck on the first try.  However, having paid over $3 for one little tomato plant is sure causes one to consider starting them from seeds.  Maybe I should subscribe to some seed catalogs.

Joan, I have a couple of big bags of linen and bedding that we moved in the car to donate  that Pat realizes was just taking up drawer or shelf space and would never be used again.

Amy, I think pigs are actually pretty smart.  However, I have never understand the craze a few years ago with miniature pigs as pets.

Patricia, Joan, and  JeanneP I can remember the first postings that Gladys made on the old SeniorNet.  She had never typed and her messages took some careful reading.  However, we all encouraged her and I loved to read her postings and enjoyed meeting her, along with many others, at the Atlanta Bash.

Hal, hope you have been able to find a close by parking space at the testing location.

JaneS, glad to see that Sarah is better and home from the hospital.

Jenny, know the wait for the PET Scan results will be hard to wait for.

Jackie, you refer to a "cream" metal dish drainer and mantel clock.  Are you referring to the color?  Sorry to hear of the flare up of your MS and hope you will soon be feeling much better.  Are home inspectors licensed in England?  It sounds like the one that inspected your new home leaves something to be desired.  Sure hope you get some financial relief on the repairs needed that you didn't know about.

Lloyd, it sounds like the nurse gave you good advice.  sure glad you awoke feeling better this morning.

Good morning, halkel.  Wow!!  Grapefruit size hail could do some serious damage.  And who pages you?

Larry--Good morning.  I've been meaning to ask you if you've used the new pill splitter.  If so, how do you like it?  You folks are really getting into the gardening.  Eating at the table in the sunroom sounds pleasant--you can enjoy your backyard.  Doesn't seem your garage door should be malfunctioning so quickly.  Hope it's covered by a warranty.

Well, I finished a couple of the "things" on my list...made the bed and straightened up the bedroom, got myself out of my jammies and into some everyday clothes, emptied the dishwasher...now what shall I get into?

Hal, I've been released to start back to work on the 18th.  If they get me some hours for the rest of April and a week and a half in May, I'll be on my way to Texas on May 12th for my granddaughter's wedding and then staying for a visit with my daughter.  If you weren't so far from Dallas, I might suggest a meeting but I know it's about 5 hours one way.  Don't know why they made Texas so dash-blasted BIG!

Larry Hanna, yes both cream in colour.....The mantel clock sits nicely where it belongs...it is a Newgate brand clock...

Gloria, I am soon leaving for MS social evening, that's if I can keep awake, as I often doze off several times through the day, and haven't dozed off yet.......Yes R will feel uncomfortable being there as he is a person who doesn't feel old, nor wont accept that he is old....I know he will feel uncomfortable and have that pitiful for them look, as nothing I say about my illness really sinks into him......Have to admit I am not feeling too great, a bit of dizziness and unstableness when I am walking but, I know there will be worse there when I get there...

Jenny, I am routing for a clear result, re, Michelle's PET scan...

Jane S, hope your bosses will be kind to you and release those days in April and May so you can travel to your wedding in Texas...

I just returned from turning in my "back to work" form and my first day back will 11 am to 3 pm on Monday the 18th.  Earlier I said that I probably wouldn't be able to sit around in my Jammies until 9 when I start back to work but I guess I will on Monday.

I did a few more of the things on my list.  Last night I decided the rug in the entry way was pretty dirty so I took it outside and shook the heck out of it, then I threw it in the washer.  While it was washing, I decided that the rug wasn't the only dirty thing out there.  The floor was pretty bad, too. So this morning I washed that and right around the corner the kitchen hollered "ME TOO, ME TOO!"  So I jogged around the corner and gave the kitchen the once over!

Now, the sofa is calling softly to me so I guess I'll answer it's call.  Have a leisurely afternoon, Everyfriend!

Good afternoon om another rainy day.

Gloria, I too think I will feel better once we get some Spring days. I do not feel in the mood to do anything. Of course at 92 it takes more get up and go.
Yesterday was not a good day, as I found out I was runing out of hot water.  Called a plumber he came and was in a panic, when he discoved the hose from the hot water tank, was linking on the ground under my mobile. He said he did not know how to get under my home as it was so low, and I must have a swimming pool already under the house, that really got me upset. he must have gone in and out the house 5 times.  Finally i said maybe I should just call the office.  I told them what was going on and they sent two men over within 10 min.one did go under the mobile and said they would fix it.  They had it fixed in about and hour.  My plumber left, some one ask me how much he charged for coming over, and I said I never asked him.
He said I would have a large electirc bill, as he did not know how long I had been running. I guess the tank would fill up half way, so I never noticed it.

Jane, I am glad to read that Sara is home

Joan, even though it is afternoon, I think I would like and egg McMuffin.

Larry, I like your larger picture.

Jenny I am saying a special pray for Michele.

Jackie, hope you are feeling better soon.  I am sure all the stress you have gone through and still going through, does not help.

Hello dear ones, it is now a little after one o'clock. I have been up since seven. Our bargains and blessings shop opens at 9, and I had stuff to take over, and wanted to snoop around. Did find two small bowls that I needed. I left behind at Sunwest about 8 or 10..what a dummy. I could also use some shelves I left behind.oh well. I will go to Amazon and shop around.

I'm tired today. Not good at early starts I guess. Had some company after I got home, and one thing leads to another, so made myself a cheese sandwich for lunch. Two o'clock is a creative writing class that I want to check out, and two thirty is Balance and Mobility that I want to attend, and I found out this morning how to use the elec. exercise machines downstairs. The girl told me to just use it four minutes for  my first time. You sort of recline, push big pedals with your feet, and that causes your arms to go back and forth on handles. It was fun. I plan to do it daily. God willing and the body does not rebel.

Time to get the body in gear for the next program...June

Jackie - After reading your last post, I would like to comment.  The MS meeting may be a wake-up call for R. I don't know about your group, but MS is not an "old people's" disease. Most of the people I have known (and I've known several) with MS were young to middle-aged. I have a cousin who has had it since her mid-twenties. I hope your meeting tonight goes well.

I have a lasagna in the oven. Tonight is the pot luck for our neighborhood couples' golf group.

Jane S. - I agree! June is amazing and I love her upbeat attitude.

Have a nice evening, everyone!

Beverly--I LOVE lasagna.  Could you leave me a serving in the hidey hole? :)

Hi Beverly
Like you I don't think MS is an 'older' persons condition.

I had about fours years of physiotherapy for my medical condition and during that time there were clinics for MS.  And sometimes the clinics were in the same part of the physiotherapy ward I and others were having treatment.

And the majority of people were in their thirties to forties and some younger.

In my family, symptoms of
MS show up in the early 20's....

But of course,  young people
sometimes don't get involved
in groups until they have a
few years behind them of
dealing with the disease.

I have 2 nieces,  a few cousins,
and one grand child with
diagnosed MS  or MS symptoms.

Well rain finally stopped around 3 pm and the sun came out.

JANE  I think when I was happiest in my life was the times I had with my 3 when they wee young.  I know how Sarah feels about time with Kiran.

JOAN  you can have the rain, now who can I send the winds to.  Don't know a year when we had so much wind before.

HAL  saw on TV the damage from that big hail. Terrible.

JACKIE  too many things in life there is no cure for so we just suffer with them. Have a good night everyone.

Good Night Everyfriend!  I'm off to dreamland right after I check out a couple of websites.  I put in a full day today.  Of course, I did take time out for a nap but that doesn't count because I was sleeping off my demerits.

I wish you all peaceful rest and a lovely day tomorrow.

Hey girls...I am not doing anything that you wouldn't do if you had it right in your home. Remember, I am not doing housecleaning or cooking to any extent either. I will admit, I am pooped tonight and looking forward to a full nights sleep.

The creative writing class was very interesting and ran into an hour and a half, so I was late to the Mobility class. The woman that spoke is very knowledgeable and has had a book published on writing. She plans to give two classes a month.

Had supper downstairs. salad, fish, a big glass of apricot nectar, coffee and cake. Now my bed is grinning at me, and betting I will fall asleep before I get any reading done. We shall see........

It was Northeast of Dallas/Fort Worth area.  But we are having some distant thunder here right now.  Hopefully nothing destructive headed our way.  Spoke too soon, just heard some hail hit my window and the rain is pouring down.......

Good evening.  It has been raining hard for over one hour now, with lightening and thunder.  Thank goodness no hail like the poor folks in Wylie Texas.....that was awful and the news said it will probably happen again tonight.

JACKIE, I hope the MS Meeting went well and you feel it was worth your time and most of all I hope R got something out of it as well.  I am sorry to read that you have been having more serious problems, not only with the MS but also issues with the house.  I do hope they will take care of the items that should have been identified and find before the closing.  Appreciate your positive thoughts for a good PET Scan report for Michele.

GLORIA de, I Am sorry to read about your problems with your hot water heater.  I do hope the problem is taken care of and that you will not get a huge bill on top of it.  Thank you for your prayers for Michele.

LARRY, best of luck to you on your new raised garden adventure.  We have tried for the past few summers to grow some veggies, and sadly have not been as successful as we would have liked to have been. When we had a yard to plant in the dirt we had great success, but these pots just do not seem to work for us. I plan to put flowers in the three big pots this summer.  It is hard not to be a bit apprehensive as we wait for the results from Michele's scan, but we are sure praying it will result in a clean bill of health.  She has another test next Monday and after that the reversal surgery and then on to a happy healthy life.  BTW, Ithink your eating at your dinette table sounds just perfect.

GLORIA, it seems to me that many places have had a good amount of wind this year....here in Colorado included.  Yes, indeed, a clear scan for Michele would sure make us all extremely thankful.

JUNE, it is good to read about, you getting involved in many new things there at your new place.  I am so happy that you are loving your new home.  We all seem to leave behind items that we really could use in our new location, but you were under stress to cut back and you did your very best.

Can't seem to keep my eyes open so I will say good night to ALL.

Jenny

Hal and Jenny, How I envy you your storms. I would love them, as long as nothing was seriously damaged and no one harmed in any way. Our weather is so same, day after day, and I should be thankful, but I do miss the summer storms like we had back in Mn. and like you have now in your areas.

I wish you well, and may each one of you have a very blessed night..Peace, Love, Hugs and Prayers. Always and ever. June

Walking on the Beach

This guy was walking along the beach one day and ran across a lamp (what a surprise). He picked it up a rubbed it and a genie popped out (ohh, another big surprise). The genie told him he would grant the man three wishes.

"First," the guy began, "I'd like a million dollars."

POOF! A million dollars was suddenly showing on his checkbook balance.

"Second," he continued, "I'd like a new Mercedes."

POOF! A Mercedes appeared right in front of him.

"Third," the guy smirked, "I'd like to be irresistible to women."

POOF! He turned into a box of chocolates.

CHUCKLES

Did I Ever Tell You...?
by Dr. Seuss

Did I ever tell you about the young Zode
Who came to two signs at the fork of a road?
One said: To PLACE ONE. And the other: PLACE TWO.
So the Zode had to make up his mind what to do.
Well....the Zode scratched his head. And his chin. And his pants.
And he said to himself, "I'll be taking a chance
If I go to PLACE ONE. Now, that place may be hot!
And so, how do I know if I'll like it or not?
On the other hand, though, I'll be sort of a fool
If I go to PLACE TWO and find it too cool.
In that case I may catch a chill and turn blue!
So, maybe PLACE ONE is the best. Not PLACE TWO.
On the other hand, though, if PLACE ONE is too high,
I may catch a terrible earache and die!
So PLACE TWO may be best!
           On the other hand, though....
What might happen to me if PLACE TWO is too low...?
I might get some very strange pain in my toe!
So PLACE ONE
may be best." And he started to go.
Then he stopped. And he said, "On the other hand, though...
On the other hand...other hand...other hand though....!"
And for 36 hours and 1/2, that poor Zode
Made starts and stops at that fork in the road.
Saying, "Don't take a chance. No! You may not be right."
Then he got an idea that was wonderfully bright!
"Play safe" cried the Zode. "I'll play safe" I'm no dunce!
I'll simply start off for both places at once!"

And that's how the Zode, who would not take a chance,
Got to NO PLACE at all, with a split in his pants!

A quote that goes with the above:

"There is always risk - when you reach for the beautiful. When you reach for the lovelier, finer, more fragrant things of life - there is always a risk - and you can't escape it. The risk is what makes the Christian life exciting. It is thrilling - make no mistake about it. It is an adventure. As long as we live in this world, there will always be a risk in reach. There are timid souls who avoid high places because they are afraid...But then there are those who avoid high ideals because they are content with low ones. There are persons who do not have high ambitions because they are lazy. Jesus remarked upon those who sought the small and shallow things of life, "Verily, I say to you, they have their reward." Good morning everyfriend

Doing the happy dance here, finished another cancer quilt top last night that has been trying my patience but it is now done and I am ready to move on to another.

We are off to the city today..dh has an appointment then we will also go to Costco to see what the LED lights are like. Son bought some and said they work great for outside use, plus he bought some for inside too!

Larry, I too am itching to garden, I wasn't able last year but I will make up for it this year.I do have all my seeds bought, just need to buy tomato plants. Sweet Millions are nice to have for salads and one plant can supply the neighbourhood!!

Gloria, it is still chilly here but as long as it is not snow I am fine with the chill.

June, you amaze me with all you do....your certainly an inspiration to others

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Poor Zode pulled in two directions, I know that feeling well..... ;D

Joan, good morning, and to all who are soon to appear.....

Well I am glad I made the effort to turn up for last nights MS meeting.....We all sat in a large circle and the two young Barn Owls and their two handlers gave their talk whilst in the centre of the room....The birds were attached to cord perched on their leather gloved arms, where they could spread their wings but not fly, they were so well behaved apart from the mess they made on the well placed rubber mat they placed down, then after the talk they walked round the room in opposite directions at least three times giving us all a chance to touch the birds and ask questions, a most enjoyable evening....Ha ha, I bet you never knew Barn Owls don't drink water nor will they fly in rain, no I didn't know that either....

I made a bee-line for the man I spoke to on the phone, he passed me on to other committee members who gave me a fair bit of Info.....I have now become a member, well once I register and pay my annual £5 to the MS society....I was placed seated next to a lovely couple, Pat and David, David was 57 or 58 and was diagnosed just a few years ago but told he most probably had had MS for ten years, I found him very easy to get on with, we exchanged stories on our first noticeable symptoms to our words when first told we had MS and to how we reacted to them....

The majority of members last night were my age group, several later climbed into MS buses outside in the car-park, so not sure where they were being delivered home to....

R also enjoyed the evening too...plus we got a cup of tea at the end, even came round with a trolley full of biscuits, complete with some good humour from the trolley guy when trying hard to get rid of them, there seemed not many takers, well not from our end....

Amy, well-done, now give yourself a break before starting on your next one, also give yourself a treat, you have earned it....

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 30º this morning and only predicted to go into the low 50s and it's also cloudy.  I am so craving some sunshine and warm days.  They are saying that will happen this weekend.  I truly hope so!

Amy, congrats on finishing the quilt.  I've tried growing tomatos in containers with no luck but that's probably due to my BLACK thumb.  I'm just not a very good gardner.  Even my grass doesn't grow well.  The only thing on my property that is thriving is the forsythia and a lilac bush that my former neighbor gave me when I was moving.  And I think forsythia is too hardy to kill and it's Harry's touch that is keeping the lilac healthy.

Jenny, I'm also praying for happy results for Michele and will await the answer.

As soon as I finish my coffee, I'll be off to feed the doggies and get myself a bit of breakfast.  So I will wish you all a lovely day full of whatever you think will be fun.

Hi everyone on this Wednesday morning.  It started early for me as I awoke a little before 3 am and couldn't go back to sleep.  Finally I got up about 5:30 so am getting an early start on my day.  Our garage door quit working on Monday afternoon so I have the repairman coming early this morning to fix it.  Pat has a Church Women's Circle meeting this morning and I plan on going down to the community ministries thrift store to donate several bags of linens and other items Pat cleaned out before my sisters visit.  While there I will certainly visit the Thrift Store to see if there is anything I can use.  This evening Scott will join us at the Church for the Wednesday night dinner.  Tonight the main item is fried chicken.  Then Scott plans on coming out to the house for awhile.

Joan, yes I have used the new pill splitter twice.  Unfortunately the pills I need to split are so large (Calcuim with Vitamin D) that I have to split them length-wise so can only do about 5 at a time.  I also used it to split some much smaller pills and it works great.  The garage door opener is guaranteed but the labor cost was only for a year.  It will cost me $85 to have the repair man here this morning.  Things just don't seem to last very long anymore.

Sandy, the pictures do seem bigger.

The last few days I have written such long posts that I vowed today to make it short.  Until tomorrow.

Good Morning Everyone!

Well it was a stormy night.  We missed all the big hail by a hair.  It went just North of us and continued on a fairly wide swatch to the East and did considerable damage, it was big as baseballs, but most was golf ball size.  One family, not far from us, in Helotes, had one go completely through the roof and the ceiling of their living room.  Left a pretty big hole.  I haven't seen or heard of any injuries, but I am sure there must have been some.

Larry, I'll bet you have a busted spring from the way you described it the other day.  I hope you didn't strip out you carrier to when you tried to open it.  The springs act as counter weights.  I cant believe how much those doors weigh when the spring breaks and you have to use muscle to open it and hold it up to close it.  Last time I had one break, I had both replaced and it cost about 125.00.  But the guy who works on mine is johnny on the spot and usually shows up within a couple of hours.

Wife said we got about three inchs of rain last night.  But seems one storm would move out of the area and another would be right on it's tail.  My old pup stayed in my room last night and will hardly move away from me this morning.  She must have been shook up with all the thunder and lightening.  She normally kinda ignores storms.  You have to wonder what she hears that we don't.

You folks that talk about growing in containers, did you know that tomatoes make a really great hanging plant.  You only need about a half bushel of dirt to grow one.  And water them with half strength fertilizer.  I always gave mine a gallon of water a day.  But then this is Texas and things dry out quickly in summer time.  The lid of a big round BBQ grill makes a great planter.  I used to be the old man who went around checking the area for burned out BB! grills and take the lids. They were great for mass plants of flowering plants and vines.  I have one with English Ivy that is over 20 years old and still going.  I have to add dirt every year.  My wife has kinda taken over for me caring for it, it was originally a Mothers day plant given to her in 1978.  Just a sprig.

Sheeesh, I have written a book.

Everyone have a good day.

Good morning everyone, sun is shining, the sky is blue and I am looking forward to a better day. A dry day is a big help and I hope no rain for a few days.  Nothing planned for today. My housekeeper is out sick so no different one available today. Think I would still be sleeping if not for the phone call.

HAL  hope that hail last night was small and didn't cause damage. I have heard more about damaging hail lately than I ever have.

JENNY  the weather guessers here are blaming this crazy weather on el Nino. Michele needs some good news after what she has been through.

JUNE  living through some of those storms is no fun. In memory they were just fun but in reality they can be very frightening.

JOAN  breakfast looks great this morning. Like the Dr. Seuss and the quote with it. Thank you for today's goodies.

AMY  glad that problem quilt is finished. I sure missed fresh tomatoes from the garden last year. Neither of my sons planted a garden last year and the lady here who did the planting for whoever wanted tomatoes took the year off because of cataract surgery.

JACKIE  glad the MS meeting last night went good.

JANE  I am with you, sunshine and warmer days. Ready to put the winter jacket away for several months.

I am up. I have been waking up about 7 o'clock every morning. I like that..no alarm needed. Showered and Shampooed and now drying out. Leaving my hair shorter and straight makes life much easier.

Today my Gary will be doing his stint at our Chapel. Everyone enjoys Gary and he gathers a goodly amount of residents. I had dinner with our resident Pastor and his wife yesterday. She has a manner of drawing one into conversations...quite a talented lady. He is great too...he sang in a quartet for 15 years. They are both of the Quaker faith.

I never had good luck with growing tomatoes in a container, mine always did well in the ground.

Hal, your dog reminds me of my Petey. Some animals really attach themselves to you. He was a medium sized cocker spaniel mix . Our last dog, Penny, was my husbands companion, a great solace to him as he progressed into Alzheimers.

I had a half an English muffin and two cups of coffee and a happy visit with you all. Now it is time to make the bed, get dressed and be ready to leave for the 10 o'clock Bible class. See you all later. June

Good day all!  Yesterday, I attended a monthly genealogy meeting and we were all looking forward to the speaker - author on that subject.  It was a total dud meeting because she may have written a book but had to be prompted 3 times from the audience on errors and helped out a few times.  Some walked out early and I just tried to stay awake.  Waste of time.  Such a nice lady but that didn't work at all.

Jackie:  That sounds like a nice group for you to find the latest information plus meet new friends.

Lindancer:  My note to you is blank but hey, I will just say hello. :crazy2:

Amy:  Just curious of what colors you tend to use in your quilts.

Jenny:  Don't plant - go to Sprouts.   We usually hang tomatoes but the birds attack and kill that idea.  Best to you on Michele's results.

KELLY  hope you had a great day.

GLORIA de  it was a beautiful day her hardly any wind and bright sun all day. I sat on the porch for quite awhile with my back to the sun and it felt wonderful. Only a few others were out there today. Hope you found something good at the new market.

JOAN  glad you took time out today for you off the computer life. Felt good to get away for even a few hours I imagine. Hope you answered your couch and had a good nap. Mine calls me in the afternoons, too. But I never nap even when I wish I could. When I start dozing my phone seems to know and starts ringing.

JUNE  I have to call the hairdresser to come and give me a haircut. This time I will have the hand mirror close so I can make sure she cuts it as short as I want and does not part it on the right side again. I always comb it back, never parted. Interesting residents where you are living.

CAROL  looks like that speaker was no much of a speaker. Makes one wonder how she wrote a book.

JANE  what did you get into today that wore you out?

AMY  glad I don't have to get up early anymore.

Wow only a few posts today. Everyone out enjoying nice weather? Have a good night everyone.

Gloria, mentioning about parting our hair, one time I was up at Boyne City and went to a woman there to have my hair cut.  When she styled my hair, she put the part on the right side, saying it was because all women parted their hair on the right side.  I told her it was the first I had heard that because I parted my hair on the left side.  I think I don't have a part now but sometimes it parts itself anyway.

This has been a quiet day for me. Enjoyed my son's teaching so very much. He is so natural in speaking, he holds everyones attention. He is speaking on the book of Daniel now and makes those Biblical characters come to life.

After that I went to lunch with a good friend I have made. She is a member of Gary's Church, and an interesting personality. After a big and tasty lunch it was nap time, of course. Then I ran into a problem on my computer, seems a virus jumped in again, so I had to do a lot of deleting in my email.

That taken care of, I went downstairs and worked on one of the machines for more exercise..I must find out what they are called. They are Big. you sit and push with your feet and that action moves you arms back and forth as well as your legs. That of course called for another nap.

Kevin, Hi back to you.

I still plan to send off a few letters, but feel the need for some fresh air, so will take a walk first.

My treat for today was when my son called to let me know that he was coming to visit with me this weekend AND planned to take me out to select some plants for my yard, which he will plant while he is here!  I was delighted, but also surprised that he would have the time to come visit now as he is scheduled to transfer (without his family) to an Army base in Korea for one year.  He departs on June 7th.  It is always such a pleasure to have him visit and we can catch up on family news.

JUNE - I really smiled when I read your comments RE your son conducting the Bible Study and how much it was enjoyed.  I'm sure you are tremendously proud of him!  And I also am delighted for you that you seem to be so comfortable in your new home!  The Lord has truly blessed you!

Molly, thank you, the Lord truly has blessed me, and I am thankful, as you are also with your fine son. He truly loves you as his kindness proves. Tomorrow he is taking me to the dentist where I will have a root canal done. I am so grateful.

I planned to order a tray from Amazon, and the delivery costs exceed the price of the tray. I don't know how to cancel the order, but I am sure not going to complete it. That is insulting. It is only a plastic tray and does not require special handling.

I am tired tonight and it will be an early to bed for me. I pray you all have a God Blessed night. June

I did, just finished, paying some bills.  Computer either on my end of theirs had a hiccup and I had to do it twice.....but it is done, I hope.

Got bible study and breakfast in the morning so I am off to bed shortly.

Nite, nite, God Bless and sweetdreams.

Good evening.

Sorry to not get here earlier as I do have wonderful news to share......
Michele's PET Scan is negative......so she is free of any cancer now and has been cleared for her surgery on the 26th.

I can't tell you how relieved we are to get this news today!  I thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  It has been comforting to know that we were having prayers said all over the world.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

JACKIE, good to read that the meeting was enjoyed by both you and Richard.  I am so glad that you will now have support from others in your area that know what you are going through.

JUNE, your day sounded just perfect with your Gary being such a big part of it.

MOLLY, so happy for you that Chaps will be there to enjoy a visit with you this weekend.  So exciting that you will be picking out plants.  Enjoy.

CAROL, how disappointing for you to to look forward to the genealogy meeting and find it to be totally a waste of your time.  Be glad you will not be home this weekend...we are getting a BIG storm that could possibly give us a LOT of snow....  The models are setting up and causing a lot of concern.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny, it has been a long few months for Michelle but at last there is light at the end of her tunnel, thank the Lord......

One of my frustrations and dare I say it, anger with R is that he doesn't like being put out, as to when I need him or ask him to walk somewhere, such as to the dustbins, put out recycling material, he acts like a spoilt child throwing a tantrum, then I have to remind him that there is " nothing wrong with his legs..." which of course makes absolutely no difference to him, sympathy or compassionately wise...
........................................
Got a letter through the post yesterday giving me a choice of three hospitals of which I want to use for MS Specialist Nurse and Neurologist, as I don't know one from the other, this is where my new MS society comes in for good advice....

CHUCKLES

Old Dog

My sister's dog had been deaf and blind for years. When she started to suffer painful tumors, it was time to put her down. As I explained this to my seven-year-old son, he asked if Jazzy would go to heaven. I said I thought she would, and that in dog heaven, she would be healthy again and able to do her favorite thing: chase squirrels.

Jacob thought about that for a minute, then said, "So dog heaven must be the same as squirrel hell."

Food For Thought

The Key to Acceptance
(by Dr. Charles Stanley)

Many churchgoers will be alarmed to discover that ministry work does not earn a place in heaven. Good deeds mean nothing to God unless they are the outgrowth of a relationship with Him. Only those who have received Jesus Christ as their Savior will enter heaven, no matter how many acts of kindness or charity they have performed.

The definition of the word "believe" is what often confuses church members who lack genuine faith. They believe in God, Jesus, and heaven. But there's a difference between giving intellectual assent to an idea and spiritually acknowledging Christ as God's Son and one's own personal Savior. In the Bible, every time someone truly believes in Jesus, he or she changes. It is impossible to remain the same after realizing one's desperate need for Him.

An earnest desire for salvation begins with the recognition that we have sinned against God. We must also be aware that there is no hope of salvation apart from the Lord. Having understood these two facts, we need to trust in His sacrifice for the payment of our sin-debt. Some people use the terminology "ask Jesus to forgive your sin" or "ask Jesus into your heart." It doesn't matter how we describe the experience - if we repent of sin and make a decision to receive Christ, we are saved.

God promises to respond to a humble acknowledgement of His Son's sacrifice. If you desire to be in heaven with Him for eternity, ask yourself this question: Have I been saved? If not, now is the time.

Joan, good morning, and to all who are soon to follow...

Well this morning I feel more on the ball, re, phonecalls....my head feels clearer to deal with them...I have now left a message for pet grooming, R spoke to someone on our site and remarked on how well groomed his dog Ellie looked, owner agreed and told us the name of Ellie's groomer, told also she owns Cocker Spaniel dogs herself...

Also left message for our " metal man " as I spoke to I assume wife saying we accepted his quote for putting in safety rails front and back, she said he would phone in the evening saying when he would be ready to fit them, he never but he did recieve our message and will do them in 4 to 5 weeks or sooner if he gets them ready.....seems a long wait but we have already been here 4 weeks now, time sure does go quick.....

Another phone call was to Haith's, I had ordered bird seed, usually I would receive it within 24 to 48 hours, ( old address, ) just had to check they have my correct new address or that my order didn't go astray or worse delivered somewhere else, told its out for delivery to me today....Yesterday I took in a nice new delivery of a wooden bird-feeder, the only thing now missing is the bird food.... ;D

One more phonecall to go, this is to my local MS societies secretary, cum, publications, membership, information, and branch web page editor, wow he holds down many positions...He spoke to me at length at the social meeting telling me he can get me an MS specialist nurse, well yesterday a hospital letter arrived asking me to choose one of three hospitals, being new to the area I have no ideas as to which hospitals are the best, so I need his advice as to which one to go with which will include a Neurologist....Last night he e-mailed quite a lot of Interesting Info to download, pdf's.....

Oh forgot to add the important bits, had my fresh beetroot on the stove early this morning for an hour, and not long finished my washing, now its in the dryer...dogs have been fed their breakfasts, but not me, yet....who said we should put ourselves before our dogs? has never lived in this house....;D

An elderly couple return to a Mercedes dealership where the salesman has just sold
the car they were interested in to a beautiful, leggy, busty blonde.

"I thought you said you would hold that car till we raised the $75,000 asking price," said the man.
"Yet I just heard you closed the deal for $65,000 to that lovely young lady there.
You insisted there could be no discount on this model."

"Well, what can I tell you? She had the ready cash and, just look at her, how could I resist?"
replied the grinning salesman.

Just then the young woman approached the aged couple and gave them the keys.

"There you go," she said.
"I told you I would get the dope to reduce it.  See you later, grandpa.”

Never mess with the elderly!

Yesterdays trip was long and tiring..I am glad we can stay about here as I will be on the road again tomorrow. I feel like a kid that has been given the day off school today, nothing NEEDS to be done and I can go play in the sewing room.

Gloria, when I make soup I make a big pot and there is lots of pea soup left along with the rice pudding.

Mary Ann, when I wore my hair with a part I parted it on the left also..don't know if that is because I am left handed or not. I don't part my hair now..

Molly, enjoy your son's visit....such a blessing to have the "me" time with him .

Jackie, it is the same here,I feed the dogs first..they have me well trained.

Joan, thank you for breakfast..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Amy, the dogs were following me around, they were putting me off of where I had left my glasses, my paperwork, I was going backwards and forwards so had no choice but to feed them, if only to know where I was going.... ;D

Also you can through the Island health service, obtain a shower seat, as they can be expensive if bought.

Also I think adaptions if needed in the home.  Might not apply in the UK.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Right now it's 34º and sunny and predicted to hit the mid 60s this afternoon.  It figures, as soon as I'm scheduled to go back to work, the weather gets nicer!

I have nothing planned for today except to root out some clothes that I think I'll be taking to Texas and see if I can remember where I stowed my suitcase.  I might do a bit of laundry just to make sure all of my work clothes are clean and ready to go to work with me.

I looked at Crocs (shoes) on line yesterday and there are some that I think I might be able to wear for the wedding.  They don't even look too clunky.  We'll see when they get here.  I will go ahead and order them on line because I have a very old, very dilapidated pair that I wear to clean up the yard and I tried them on.  Yay!  They fit!

You all have a lovely day.  Don't do anything you don't feel like doing and do anything that strikes your fancy.

Hi everyone on this fine Thursday morning.  We are in the low 50's this morning and will only get to the low to mid-60's later this afternoon.  We apparently had a little rain during the night. Today will be a typical Thursday for us. I did take the donations to our Community Ministries yesterday for their Thrift Store.  The man came on time and fixed our garage door by totally replacing the unit that opens it.  He was here about 15 minutes but it still cost $85 for the visit.

Today I will pick up my friend to take to coffee and then take him home and go from there to the Church for the Wisdom group meeting at 11:30.  I will stop at the Post Office for a roll of stamps that Pat needs for the cards she sends out on behalf of our Sunday School Class. Is everyone aware that the cost of first-class stamps was reduced to $0.47 on April 10th?

There is a nursery right next to where I have coffee so may check out their selection for some herbs to plant.  Today is finally the day that our new Aldi's grocery store opens.  We have two $5 coupons to use there during the next couple of weeks. If I have enough energy left after the morning activities I may briefly stop at the new Aldi's.  This store being so close we won't need to make such big purchases as can easily stop there for a few items at a time.

I had written a little longer posting and clicked the Post button but apparently forgot to see if it had posted or if there were new postings, which they were.  Then I closed the tab and lost the postings.  So will just say I enjoyed all the postings and will be back tomorrow.

Good morning everyone, nice start, 42° and the sun is shining.

KELLY  Moghrey Mie, have a great day.

MARY ANN  once at the salon the young, just graduated, girl parted my har on the rght and I told her I do not part my hair. She said that was the way  my hair wanted to go that way. I told her yes because she was blow drying it that way. As if we did
not know the way I had my hair for years and it never was parted on the right side.

JUNE  they have some machines here in the exercise room vu like everything else in this building they are not for short people. Only seen 3 different people here using them. I tried getting on the bicycle one and could not reach the pedals. I would have liked using them.

JENNY  that is wonderful news for Michele and the family. So good to come in here this morning and read that.

JACKIE  good that you can ask that MS group what hospital would be best for you. Hope none are too far.

JOAN  ahh crisp bacon and waffles, love both so will enjoy breakfast. Old Dog, that is some remark from Jacob. Like Food for Thought. A keeper. Thank you for today's goodies.

LLOYD  good morning.

JUNEE  hello.

LLOYD  good joke, never mess with the elderly.

AMY  good no new snow. About time you had none. I have never been able to make a small pot of soup. Always better warmed over later. Some also freezes  great.

JANE  that first day back at work will have you getting home with even your shoe laces worn out.

LARRY  really nice to have a market close.

HAL good morning.

Good morning, Joy.  I haven't had real maple syrup in the house in years.

Jenny--I am so VERY HAPPY for Michele and the family.  I know first hand what it means to get the "all clear" news.

Larry--Good morning.  Labor sure is expensive these days.  I knew about the price of stamps being reduced.  Wouldn't you know I just bought a roll of Forever stamps about three weeks ago.

Good morning, halkel.

Gloria--Good morning.  It's maddening when a hairdresser ignores our desires.  Glad the sun is shining there.

Good morning, Mary Ann.  Enjoy lunching out with Dot (and maybe Tom).

Good Morning all…I am in a hurry this morning. Gary will pick me up shortly after nine o'clock for my 10 o'clock dental appointment. Have done the prayers, the exercises and massage, ate breakfast next is make the bed and get dressed.

Gloria, on these exercise machines you can adjust them for different sized people. there is a rod under the fringe of the seat that brings you further or closer to the foot pedals and also there is easy adjustment of the hand things. Another adjustment knob to turn the chair for getting in and out. Perhaps there is someone there who can show you how to operate it.

Mary Ann, I do visit B & T so I will check for Larry's post.

Good Morning to you my dearest Bis, and now I must run and get things done so I won't be late for my date with my son. See you all later. June

I've got myself cleaned up and dressed, made another batch of dog food, have one load in the dryer, one in the washer and a basket of towels standing by awaiting it's turn.  I've cleaned up a couple of places I missed and threw away a bunch of stuff in the bathroom...most of it stuff Frankie left here.  I don't think she's coming back and it's not worth sending to her.

Now I'm going to visit, play some games, have lunch, give the doggies a snack and (maybe) take a nap.  The temp is up to 54 and the sun is still shining.  Makes a body feel more than up to par!

Jenny, all our prayers were answered.  I wish Michele a great surgeon for her upcoming surgery and God's hand guiding his hands.

Joan:  If I go to the sofa - or even a chair, I can sleep for a few minutes & feel so much better.  It is probably a habit.

Gloria:  I just have to remember that I couldn't have done any of what the author knew but know enough to not attend her lectures again.

Nothing important but my hair is parted on either side depending on how I feel.

Kelly:  Did the Vikings visit your area of the world?

Jenny:  Great news!  Tell Michele how many senior friends are aware and care for her health and happiness.  Also, not coming home until the snowstorms stop and certainly don't want to be caught in any more -

The VA in Denver just called for Don and made a June appointment (that is great for us) for an overnight stay.  We have wonderful service at the VA.  They are sorely understaffed.

Yes the Vikings took over the Island from about 800-815AD until about 1260AD.

Some of our history is based on the Vikings.

When the Vikings came in my part of Britain and raped and plundered you can still tell in my family that they left a few little folk around. Specially the ones up between Scotland and England.
Big men with Red Curly hair. Have one 34 year grandson now carry the line along with one Granddaughter 40 who is over 6ft tall very blond with blue eyes.  Only one at the moment. Others have the Nordic look but young yet.

Hi Everyone
I was replying to a question if the Vikings arrived in my area, which is the Isle of Man.

There is a lot of history on the Island in relation to the Vikings.  From the way we are governed, to place names, to the culture of the Vikings and the culture of the Isle of Man.

And the invasion by the Vikings  and the defeat of the Manx in about 1079AD took place about two to three miles from where I live and I can see the hill it took place on again from where I live.

HAL - I'd be interested in how your Bible Study is set up since our group has talked quite a bit recently about how to "modernize" the one that is now offered.  I don't think that "modernize" is the correct word to use, since the content is OK, but the manner in which it is offered sure leaves room for updating.
During some of the times when I've been asked to lead the group or t give specific lectures in SS class, several folks have commented "I've never thought about that" in reference to some of the Biblical issues I mentioned in my comments.

KELLY  Hope you had a good day. We finally had a warmer day  and sunshine all day.

CAROL  I never got into genealogy but have a niece who did for awhile.

JOAN  you cranky? That I will never believe.

HAL  at 80° I would be looking for someone to put my AC in. I spent a lot of time outside today. Felt great.

All that fresh air I had today is already having me fighting to keep my eyes open so I will bid you all a good night.

Molly our group is very informal.  We do meet every Thursday at 8:30 and everyone brings what they want to eat.  Usually the first hour is just eating and visiting, although, sometimes we get into the lesson early if someone has found something interesting  in the chapter/verse we study for that week.

Our group is made up of retired/older men.  Originally our group called itself the rusty buckets, then later our leader changed it to "Men Above The Sun"

Our group is very small, sometimes there are only 3-4 in attendance and sometime we have six or seven.  There are only about 4 of us that attend on a regular basis.  And sometimes we have some young men attend because they are out of work.

Dick, our leader, usually sends out what chapter/verses we will be studying along with some suggested questions we should ask as we are reading.  Dick is a retired college professor.  He has a doctorate in insects (cant think of the formal name of people who study insects). (Entomology).  During the actual study part, class, we take turns reading the verses and and give our comments on what we have just read and the group as a whole discuss the verse and ask questions of the parts we are not sure of.  One things is that there are several versions of the bible, as you know, and we all, it seems, have different versions.
I use my IPad and Biblegateway and it has I don't know how many versions you can access and I do at times.  We also have maps and we study the different journeys that the disciples took.  It is very interesting and something that I had never taken the time to actually look to see where all the towns were that are referenced in the bible.

He had a hard time working in teaching in Universities because he admitted to being a Christian, he eventually went to work in the Ag department in government.

I hope I haven't rambled too much and if you would like more information from me, feel free.  That site I referenced is a free site but has a premium program for less that 5 dollars a month that gives you many more references.  If I ever learn how to use it.  You might ask Chap about it, I know my Grandson, a minister, uses it to check references.

Good evening to all, Sun is still shining out here, and Gloria is probably sleeping by now.

I am very tired. Spent three and a half hours in the dentist chair. He could not locate a canal to remove the root. Took numerous xrays, and finally located the darn thing. So I am home and ready for an early bed. too much tension for an old lady.

Have a God Blessed night my dear ones. I love you much. June

A good Thursday evening to all.

I want to thank all of you for your kind and so appreciated comments about Michele. We all know the power of prayer and once again it has proven so.

JOAN, I know you can understand what a clear report means.... And I hope and pray YOURS will continue to all be clear for you.  HUGS.

The concern continues for a BIG storm that is headed our way for the next 3 or 4 days.  I was sure hopeful that it would change and not pan out to be what they were fearing. They are saying we could have 14" of snow.....but it remains to be seen if that will pan out or if much of it will be in rain.  My friend is driving to Denver tomorrow from Rock Springd, WY.  I am very worried about her safety.

Pleasant dreams to all.  Sleep well dear friends.

Good Friday morning, Everyfriend.   There's sausage biscuits to accompany your coffee or tea. Make it a good  day!!

CHUCKLES

Too Expensive

A very cheap man was looking for a gift for a friend. Everything was too expensive, except for a broken glass vase which he could purchase for almost nothing. He asked the store to send it, hoping his friend would think it had been broken in transit.

In due time, the man received an acknowledgement from his friend. "Thanks for the vase," it read. "It was so thoughtful of you to wrap each piece separately."

Food For Thought

My Hand in God's Hand
(by Florence Scripps Kellogg)

Each morning when I wake, I say,
"I place my hand in God's today!"
I know He'll walk close by my side
my every wandering step to guide.

He leads me with the tenderest care
when paths are dark and I despair,
no need for me to understand
if I but hold fast to His Hand.

My hand in His! No surer way
to walk in safety through each day.
By His great bounty I am fed!
Warmed by His love, and comforted.

When at day's end I seek my rest
and realize how much I am blessed,
My thanks pour out to Him, and then
I place my hand in God's again.

Thought of the Day

Hope your weather is nice now. I have a Grand daughter with her husband and daughter visiting  New York at present and she wrote "the sidewalks are covered with tulips and daffodils and cute dogs in coats"

Our days are getting shorter and colder but I do not miss the humidity of Summer.

Good Morning Bis, and Amy and Junee, I woke up about 1 a.m. and could not go back to sleep so got up and did some medical research on the computer and cleaned up a lot of email. I don't know why but I get dozens of repeats of the same information and it takes forever to clean it all out and into the trash.

When I woke up my mind was so full of past history, some happy, some sad, but very busy, so there was no choice but to get up early. So for me this will be a quiet day at home with naps when needed.

Junee, I am sure you will welcome winter in your area, if you dislike humidity as much as I do the coolness will be a blessing.

Amy, I hope you have a fun and restful day with your quilting friends. You certainly deserve a time of relaxation with like-minded friends. You are one hard working lady, and I admire youl

Gloria, May your Birthday be filled with joyful messages from all your family and friends. And hopefully some surprise calls and presents. God Bless you !

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's pretty cool here (around 34º) but supposed to go up into the mid 60s later today.  I had a restless night last night.  I dreamed some pretty weird dreams and when I dream, I don't wake feeling refreshed.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GLORIA, MAY YOU HAVE MANY HAPPY RETURNS!  TAKE THE DAY OFF AND DO WHATEVER YOU'D LIKE TO DO!

I'll be off to feed the doggies and myself soon.  There is already one under my desk and soon the other will be in the doorway breathing heavily.  I really don't know how they know when it's 7 o'clock but they do.

I'll be back later to see what Everyfriend is up to today!

HAL  we have had enough rain here for awhile. A few warm days are in the forecast now an I sure enjoyed being outside yesterday.

KELLY  Moghrey Mie, hope you are having a good day.

JUNE  when you posted last night I was in dreamland.

JOAN  good morning. Too Expensive now that is being too cheap. Thought of the Day, isn't that what they did in China, limiting the number of babies a couple could have to control the population? Thank you for today's goodies.  Thank you for the birthday wishes.

Amy  thank you. Enjoy your day and for a change someone else will do the driving.

JUNEE  thank you. The humidity of humidity is something I dislike, too.

JUNE  wow you are up early. Thank you. One gift I know is on the way across country. Some See's from my daughter.

KELLY thank you. Weather will be good and that is the best gift for today.

JANE  wow I wish I could do what I would like to. I would get in my car and go for a nice long ride in the country. No car and can no longer drive. I think dogs have a built in clock.

BUBBLE  thank you, wonder if I can blow those candles out. Then we can all have a piece of it.

JOY  thank you. Every day we wake up is special after we get older.

PHYLLIS  thank you.

LLOYD  thank you.

Good Morning Everyone!

And a very special Good Morning to you Gloria, on this your special day.  Happy Birthday!!!!! ;)

We have the makings for a nice warm sunny day here and I guess we should enjoy it as they are saying that our chances for rain and increasing for this weekend.

Lloyd our plants on the patio are showing off with lots of blooms.  But still no great abundance of humming birds.  Just an occasional stray comes around.  My daughter in Del Rio has dozens of them at her feeders.  But she lives right on the fringe of open land from a large ranch.  She gets all kinds of critters wandering in.  Especially deer.

Everyone have a great day.

Hi everyone on this Friday morning.  The forecast for today shows we are to stay cloudy and only get up to 70 degrees this afternoon.  I had planned on driving to Madison, Georgia to meet friends for lunch but our plans were changed as three of the six weren't going to be able to attend.  So it is now scheduled for next Friday.  I am glad as am not feeling up to par today.   I just got back from getting a pedicure  as can no longer deal with my toenails and want to avoid having more toenails removed if possible.  Pat and I plan on going to a bar-b-q place we like for a good lunch and then she won't need to worry about fixing dinner tonight.  That will be our exciting day.

Mary Ann, i am glad I hadn't lost my posting even though I had it in the wrong discussion.

Carol, I am sure that the criticism the VA has and is receiving doesn't reflect the service provided by the employees as the problems seem to be management related.  Sure glad that Don gets good treatment, as should all of our vets.

Kelly, there is a series called the Vikings on either Amazon or Netflix.  I watched the first episode but haven't gotten back to it.  It looked like it would be an interesting story.  Interesting bit of the history related to the Vikings on the IOM.

Hal, he heard the noise the opener was making and instantly said he needed to change out the unit.  I suspect they may have had this same thing happen several times before.  Fortunately, he had the unit with him.  The tech was the same person who had installed it in October of 2014.  When I was doing our church website I would link any Bible reference to the Biblegateway website.  One of the two daily devotionals I get uses links to that site as well.  I have the app for YouVersion Bibles on my phone and iPad and have also visited the Glo website but really haven't used it.  Hope you don't have any floods in your area.

Molly, you probably would have enjoyed our Wisdom group yesterday as the topic that the minister has posted on the outside sign for Sunday we discussed for an hour.  It is "Is Jesus God".

Happy Birthday Gloria.

Larry, my exciting news is someone has trashed my email...I cannot use it at all. I had a message from Google saying some one had stolen my gmail password, but they don't tell me what to do about it. I tried to contact Google and they wanted me to fill in all kinds of questions, some I could not answer, or they would not accept so my temperament told me to quit.

Please folks, don't send me any gmail......it doesn't work. June

Good Afternoon Everyone,
from the Sunny and getting warmer,
Rocky Coast of Maine.

I have decided to get rid of cable TV,
and keep only my phone and my
Internet through the company that
services our building.

It is a huge decision for me,  but if I
pay attention and organize what I watch
weekly,  I can buy Roku and pretty much
take care of all my needs.

First I must determine my needs,
decide how I am going to fill them,
and then CUT THE CORD!

I am the only person in my family
that subscribes to cable TV.
And it is hugely expensive
these days with all the features I get,
but hardly ever use.

Wish me Luck ...

Happy Birthday,  Gloria

Good News. our sweet young girl that works here on elec. stuff, came up and within minutes she had my gmail up and running. Bless her sweet heart and personality. She said someone in Philadelphia had just paged around with numbers and got my password, and messed me up. It is only the gmail that was affected and she helped me with a new password. What a blessing she is.

Bis, I'm not sick, just really really tired from those three and a half hours in the dentists chair yesterday, so that's why I am taking the day off. I did go down for a good lunch, that will be my main meal of the day, Clam chowder, tuna salad, big glass of tomato juice, and brought home a jar of milk for tomorrows breakfast and a big slice of cake for snacking. I have had two short naps and ready for another about now. I am so happy to have my email back !!!!!

Vanilla/Jackie--Sorry your computer was down.

Janie--An afternoon nap sometimes rejuvenates a person.:)

JeanneP--It makes me angry with myself when things that used to be done so easily are now difficult.

Sandy--You are so well informed that I am sure giving up cable won't be bad.  You know how to acquire the things you want to see.

June--GREAT that the girl who knows so much about computers got your gmail fixed.  I'm glad you aren't sick--just tired from the extended time in the dental chair.  It's smart to have a good meal.

Hi Larry
Thanks for the news about the series called Vikings, only not easy to get Netflix here or Amazon, though i don't like using Amazon.

I think of most of the places that the Vikings landed and took over, the history in relation to the Isle of Man is one of the most important.  As I said there is more history in our culture than most places the Vikings landed.

Joan,  I feel the same way as you.  I don't get angry,  I just get kind of get depressed that I can't do the things I want to do.  I have a lot of trouble walking and it takes me so long to do things,  that I just kind of decide it isn't worth going to the trouble.  I am grateful that I can still take care of my own place, and I still can get around with a walker, but I just keep thinking there are so many things that I would like to do.  I love the beach, and I would just love to be able to go to the beach and would be very happy just to sit on a balcony looking out at the beach and the ocean.  I would even go by myself,  (if I had a way to go) but my kids wouldn't let me do that, I am sure of.  Like somebody mention a while ago, these golden years really aren't so golden.  But, as my husband use to say,  "it's better than the alternative". And, I will have to agree with that.

Have a nice evening.

I treated myself to some new plants today and bought beautiful bright red ones and a couple of pink ones, too.  Tomorrow when my son comes to visit for the day and overnight, he gets the privilege of actually planting them for me.

CALLIE  thank you. I keep saying that one day I will try those moving words.  Still waiting for that one day.

MARY ANN  thank you. Oh yes I know I will enjoy the Sees when I get them. Best chocolates I ever had. Will have a couple of their lollypops, too. Last year I got a coconut one and it was yummy.

DON  thank you.

MARYTX  Thanks.

HAL  Thanks, I just got home from a trip with my son and DIL for ice cream. Tomorrow will go to their home for supper and will get to see my little great grandson, too. Of course my grandson and his wife will be their, too. My other son will be here tomorrow afternoon. Talked to my daughter before son picked me up so was a wonderful day.

JOAN  glad you are finally getting some rain but can do with out the thunder and lightening.

ROLEY  thank you. I sat out on the porch yesterday and today, too. Felt great sitting in the warm sun.

JUNE  if anyone there runs out of TP they can get some from you.

LARRY  thank you. Glad your meeting with your friends was canceled to next week No fun driving any distance when you are not feeling up to par.

JUNE  best thing you can do is change your gmail password as soon as you can.

SANDY  I will be talking to my grandson tomorrow about what they have not to attach to the TV so I can cut that cord. I don't watch much TV and I sure do not watch the foreign language, sports or the news channels. Thank you.

GLORIA de  thank you. We had a nice breeze today, even the flag was not flying straight out like it had been. So far I can still cut my toenails. Have to use a pair of wire cutters to do it after a shower when they have softened a bit.

JACKIE  thank you. Really not late.

JANE  my laundry go done and the floors washed, made the bed and I just watched all being done. Great having someone to do those things that I am no longer able to do.

JEANNEP  so many things I cannot do any longer but I can still cut my toenails. Glad they do not grow as fast as my fingernails.

JUNE  watching someone work on a computer who knows what they are doing make me feel like a dummy. When I watch my grandson go from page to page so fast and type so fast makes me wonder why I cannot improve. Then I think he grew up with a computer and went to college majoring in computers and works with them on his job.

JOY  one thing I can no longer do is go to the market. Last time my son took me it took 2 days before I felt rested again. Even with my rollator it was too much walking.  I do like picking my own produce so I know it is good.  One son knows what I really like and tomorrow he will go to the market for me. I do order about every 4 or 5 weeks to be delivered but not produce and I go like my fresh veggies and fruit.

MOLLY  thank you. I did have some chocolate in the form of ice cream in a sugar cone. Was so good. With Chaps planting your new plants tomorrow they are sure to thrive. After all he is one of God's messengers so they should thrive.

Has anyone heard if the earthquakes today were near where Sato and Sachiko live?  The reports only say "southern Japan" and I know both are south of Tokyo, but I don't know how far south.

JUNE, I was thinking that you might use your excess TP for tissues and napkins....Just thinking..

Joy, how far is it from where you live to the beach?

I've had supper and shared my recliner with both dogs...kind of a tight squeeze but I like it when the want to love me.  Now I'm ready for bed so I'll say...

Good Night Everyfriend.  I wish you peaceful sleep and that you may wake to a bright new day.

Joy, I think you speak for most of us that can no longer do the things we did not too many years ago. I too love the water, we lived in Long Beach, Ca. many years ago and I loved the Ocean. I need my walker to get around now, but when I see others here that are wheel chair bound, I thank God that I can still stand and walk with the aid of my good friend the cart. My arms still work fine, I can brush my teeth and cleanse myself, comb my hair, eat, digest my food…so much we can be thankful for, right ?

Gloria, I am so glad you had such a fun Birthday, and more to come tomorrow. How many years did you work outside the home? I never had a full time job after I married. Ed didn't want me to work, but I was able to do some work, at the school, as an aid at a nursing home, and at Sears at the Christmas holiday time, but nothing where it took me out of the house for a full days work.

Janie, I have used t. paper to wipe up spills in the bathroom and kitchen. They are supposed to give us two rolls a week, two bath towels, two hand towels two wash cloths, a bath mat, and our beds are changed once a week. And the bathrooms are cleaned every week. Every other week the scrubbing, dusting of everything..including the venetian blinds and pictures on the walls, and vacuuming is done. And they do a sparkling job. If we choose to use our own linens we are responsible for laundering them. I gave all mine away. I do keep finger tip towels for guests and small dish towels of my own.

I pray you all have a very good night and a happy tomorrow. God Bless you through this night. Love, hugs, and prayers. June

June, Jane and Gloria,  thanks for your comments...... re: concerning my inability to do some of the things I would like.

I really am grateful for what I can do, and I do have 2 great daughter-in-laws who help me quite  a bit.  Two of my sons live close by and I can call on them when need to.  They all work and are busy and have their own lives.   Didn't really mean to sound that "down".... just some days I tend to give in to my feelings.  I will bounce back.

Yes, June, I do know that there a lot of people, just here where I live, that are worse off.  And,  I  really am not a complainer, usually.

Jane, I guess I am about 3 - 3 1/2 hours from the beach.  I really miss my friend who passed away a while back.  She didn't mind driving anywhere as long as I knew where we were going.  We did have a lot of nice day trips and vacations.  I am a good navigator.

Supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow and hopefully,  I will get to sit outside for a while.   And, maybe even make a cake.  I bought some of those Duncan Hines mixes that makes the little 6 in. cake.   I need something sweet.

Gloria, my daughter-in-law does take me to Walmart.  I have started writing her a list and me a list.  Makes it a lot easier.  But, when I finish walking up and down the aisles,   I am done in the next day. But, I do feel like that is my exercise for the week. LOL   I hate Walmart's produce.   Our Weis store has beautiful produce and sometime we will stop there and my DIL will go in and pick up some better produce than at Walmart.  I put away the cold things and let the rest of the groceries wait until the next day.

Gloria, I am so happy that you were able to get out and have some " birthday ice cream".  And,  that it was chocolate was an added plus.  I am sure you will enjoy your See's candy, as well as your visit with your family and get to see your great-grandson.

Hope everyone will have a nice week end.  And, the weather is good in your area.  I did hear on the news that Denver was expecting a lot of snow... maybe over a foot.  I know Jenny isn't happy to hear that news.  Sure has been a crazy spring, weather-wise,  all across the country.

Joy

Good Saturday morning, Everyfriend.   There's apple fritters to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a good day!!

CHUCKLES

If Only I Could Take  It Back

On a family vacation in Texas, my brother-in-law Mike exhibited the exuberance of a tourist. At a diner, he and his brothers ordered cheeseburgers. When his meal arrived, the first thing Mike noticed was its size.

"Wow," he exclaimed, "everything IS bigger in Texas!"

As he lifted the burger off the plate, his eyes met the cold stare of the 300-pound waitress.

Food For Thought

I'd Rather Have Jesus
(Author Unknown)

The Apostle Paul wrote, "What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ."

On a recent TV program, I saw George Beverly Shea, now 98, being interviewed by Bill Gaither. Since close to the beginning of the Billy Graham Crusades back in '47 (made "famous" in '49), Mr. Shea has been the BGC team soloist. Over the years I've attended several Graham Crusades in both Australia & the US. When in Chicago, a few other college students and I cheated a little. We joined the choir and we had great seats and could observe the evangelist close up. We were reasonably good singers back then anyhow. In every one of these crusades it was always inspiring to hear Bev Shea with his rich baritone voice sing his signature song which was, "I'd Rather Have Jesus." I didn't realize it until I heard Shea on the TV interview that he wrote the music of this well-known gospel song - the words of which are a devotion in & of themselves:

"I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands,
I'd rather be led by His nail pierced hand.

Than to be a king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin's dread sway,
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause;
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than world-wide fame,
I'd rather be true to His holy name.

He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He's sweeter than honey from out of the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs,
I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead."

Thought of the Day

“One’s only rival is one’s own potentialities. One’s only failure is failing to live up to one’s own possibilities.  In this sense, every man can be a king, and must therefore be treated like a king.”

~ Abraham H. Maslow

Good Morning Everyfriend...and a special Good Morning to you, Joanie.  You take such good care of us and give us such nice "goodies" every morning.  Thank you.

Joy, you did not come across as complaining.  Rather there was a wistful note in your voice as though you were thinking of days past and not to be any more.  And that's all right!  We all do that from time to time.  Our memories are what sustain us.

I'll be off to feed the doggies...me too...in a few minutes.  They will be here promptly at 7 to let me know it's time.

I wish you all a wonderful day.  Ours is to be sunny and reach the 70s by mid afternoon.  Right now it's 37 and the furnace is running.

Good Saturday morning.....dry and partly bright so far....

Gloria, glad I never missed your birthday as our BT hub went down, the light flashing from a stable blue to a flashing red, and another telephone call to BT had them sorting it out from there end, R then had to initialise it. Yet before it came back they made an app to send another BT engineer out...next Thursday, yes a 6 day wait....

Molly, nothing like buying some new plants to cheer oneself up... yellow this time of year brings out my gloom....

Junedrabek, wasn't that kind of your " sweet young girl " to come to your aid and help you set up a new pass-word?

Joy, I am with you when you mention you no longer can do various chores...My MS has been rather bad this last week or so, made worse after I have tackled some house hoovering ( vacuuming. ) In my mind I can and will still do these chores but my body reacts and tells me NO....
.......................................................................

Well I got on the phone yesterday chasing my birdseed up, usually it arrives within 24 to 48 hours at my old address but this time round they had an agency worker who supposedly didn't know the area ( they have sat-nav ) so my delivery never got here and went back, now it is out again for delivery Monday after I told the girl to look for a large brown landmark sign on the A road he will be travelling on....

Also another let down yesterday was in making my chosen hospital appointment online, before our line went down....it came up and told me " no appointments wetre available " so much for giving me a choice of hospitals.....It did give me a box to input my MS Specialist Nurse and MS Consultant request for an appointment in, which I done......I got in touch with my MS Centre who confirmed the best hospital for me to go with, and that is the one I am sticking to.....

Good morning everyone.
Looks like bis and Amy are it so far. Amy glad you had good time doing the Quilting. here the Maple trees are leafed out,so are the lilac bushes but they never either (lavender or whits) had any flowers this year. the other trees except the black walnuts are budding hard, too early  for the walnut trees, grass sure is nice and green. I have been busy moving and piling up junk (cleaning up) to sell when the price of scrap goes back up. today until Bob comes after his skid steer I am going to do some  landscaping around the green
house.

Good morning Vanilla
We have a 24 hour phone service to MT, being Manx Telecom.
And they will talk you through any Broadband or Wi Fi problem.

But if it is something that is unknown to the customer in that they cannot understand the computer technology, then an Engineer will take over your computer and fix the problem from the telephone exchange.

And if need be, an engineer to your home would be in two days.

Hi everyone.  It has been a rather long night as woke up at 2 am and wasn't able to go back to sleep.  So a little after 5 am I got up and got cleaned up and dressed for the day, washed my CPAP hose and related equipment that can be washed, unloaded the dishwasher and am now in my office for the morning.  I should get a lot done getting an early start.  We are predicted to get up to 72 sunny degrees this afternoon.  Yesterday Pat and I went to the bar-b-que restaurant for lunch and then drove down to our new Aldi's.  They were busy but there was parking spaces.  It is the nicest Aldi's I have seen, well organized and small enough that you are not exhausted when you finish shopping.  They are going to give the other large grocery stores some competition.

I expect to have a quiet day today with nothing on the schedule.  I will probably see if I an have a quick nap sometime this morning and will also rest this afternoon.  I did get to feeling better yesterday morning and Pat and I agreed we had enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon.

Joan, if you have never had a pedicure I would certainly suggest you give it a try.  They do more than just cut your toes as they trim dead skin away.

deAngel, do you have a screened or glassed in porch?

June, so glad the young lady was able to salvage your Gmail account by resetting your password.

Gloria, have you ever tried using the electric riding carts in the supermarkets?  It certainly cuts down on the exhaustion in your shopping although it isn't easy to reach items on the higher shelves.

Patio was wet this morning, so guess we got a shower last night.  They say lots of rain this weekend, but the percentage of chance has gone down.

Sun when are they going to do the hand?  I understand the sugery is very successful.

Joanie, thank you for breakfast, but I am going to pass this morning, going out for breakfast with the men of the church and a guest speaker this morning.

And I need to get a move on.

Good morning everyone, finally up 'n at 'em this morning. Does me no good every time I go out anywhere. Wears me out, and will be out this evening,  too.

MARY ANN   I saw on the news the destruction rom the earthquake in Japan but have no idea where Sato and Sachiko live.

JANE  it is a bright and sunny morning here.

JUNE  I worked most of my married life.

JOY  I think we all have our days to have a pity me party. We do get over it. Like you when I get groceries in the cold things are taken care of and the rest will get done when I get to it. Getting to see my great grandson is what I am looking forward to. He is now 8 months old and last time I saw him was Thanksgiving. They grow so fast at that age.

JENNY  thank you. Never too late for birthday greetings. Hope you do not get a lot of snow or ice.

SUN  thank you. Glad you went to the doctor about your hand. Start practicing typing and using the mouse now with your other hand. Do not want you missing while your hand heals from the surgery.
.
KELLY  good morning. Have a wonderful day.

JOAN  apple fritters are always great. Food for thought is copied to save and share. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  you are like I was. I would drive anywhere as long as I had a good navigator.

JANE  it is 48° here now and I love it.

JACKIE  goodness I would have stayed away from the computer too if I saw anything flashing.

LLOYD  looks like you have a busy day planned.

LARRY  only place I have been that has those carts is Walmart and Target. Markets I go do do not have them.

HAL  have a good day.

Gloria, both Sachiko and Sato live in Yokohama and Sachiko has a cottage at Fujiyama (not sure of that spelling).  She has shown us pictures of both places.  I sent an e-mail to Sato so I hope he is able to answer me.  I really think the earthquake is further south of Yokohama and that they are not affected.

Our temperature is now in the mid-60s and we should get into the low 70s.  Great!!!

Good Afternoon,

of Maine.

Good weather ahead,
for the next 10 days.   Getting warmer,
sweater type weather predicted.
Hooray!

My son (the computer Guru) is coming over
to my home this week to get me set up
to go cable tv free.     I have been
fretting about it,  and having him by
myside will insure that it all
goes as smoothly as possible.

He actually used to work for the Time
Warner Cable Co,   so he knows
what he is doing,  instead of me
having to go it on my own.

Hooray.

All is well,  here.
You all have a good day

I have only a 19 inch television and can only watch TV through the laptop.

But I have come to the conclusion that in my case I watched too much television.  And I try only to watch a few hours a day and leave the television off a good part of the day.

Good afternoon, just a little after 12. on another beautiful day, but still a little windy. Ginny, my friend that use to clean for me and said she would like to come out and vistit this PM.  she lives about and hour and a half up the island from me.

Joan thanks for goodies.

Maryann, I was also wondering about Sato., I miss his poems and pictures.

Larry, my husband built our porch, and it is all windows, but I can put screens in, in the summer., I love setting out there, and of couse, it is a change from being in the house all day.  I also have and open porch.

Gloria, glad to you had a nice birthday.

Joy, I feel the same as you, I can still do my laundry, make my bed, cook, etc.  but do it very slowly, I always  say, I am in great shape if I did not have to walk and breath.  I guess at 92 I cannot complain, when I see others.  I do have a pity party once in awhile, when I think of no family near byl  I depend on my neighbors. A good neighbor comes in every two weeks, changes my bed and vacuumings, she is not much on dusting, but I am not going to say anything.

I do have cablevision, and I have to take a certain package to get the golf channel, but that is one of my main enjoyments, I do not go to the movies any more and once a month I go to a Red Hat luncheon. So thats the only money I spend on myself.

Joy, my dear one, I hope that what I wrote didn't sound like criticism. I was trying to point out that I feel the same as you do at times..we are bound to remember the "good times" and wish we could do now as we did then. I think every single one of us has days when we feel "down", and just being able to trust our friends with our feelings is one of the great, good things about being a part of this group of loving people. And I sure can associate with doing some chore and then being all beat up afterwards. The stamina just isn't available any more. I am still weary from my dental visit of two days ago. Big Hugs girl, and welcome to the crowd of sharers.

Jenny, I have been following your weather on the t.v. and it sounds like winter just doesn't want to leave your area. This too will pass, and I hope it is soon. It is time for Springtime in your life and the lives of others in your area. I am just so thrilled about Michelle. She is one of the valiant ones for sure.

Sun, my prayers are with you dear. It is not going to be a very good time for you in the healing process. It will hamper your operating the elec. cart you use too. Since your daughter works, I am going to pray you can find a companion to come in during the time you are alone. Maybe your doctor can recommend someone in that area of care giving. God Bless you dear.

Vanilla, it sounds like your MS Center is truly a good help for you. I am happy  that you were helped in locating the right hospital. That is an important issue.

Bis, I would love to hear some thunder out here, the sun is shining so brightly I feel the need to put on my dark glasses. All my windows are on the East side as is my computer..at right angles to the window. Maybe a brimmed cap will help..it DOES…must look pretty crazy but makes it easier on the eyes.

Some weariness has hit me, so I'm going to lie down for a bit.

June, dear,  don't worry about what you said.  I certainly did not take it as criticism.  No problem at all.   Thank you for your comments.  I guess lots of us get to feelings like that at one time or another.  As I said before, I am grateful that I am able to do the things that I can.

Today has been a really good day including a long visit with my son - he just left a few minutes ago - and a call from Mohamed on a clear phone connection so I had no trouble hearing him.  Chaps planted several beautiful plants for me - bright red and pink with beautiful deep green leaves - in the side yard and I will enjoy them each time I walk out that way.  We had a good conversation while enjoying lunch and then he snuck some ice cream!  He left a few minutes ago to visit with his wife's Mom, who is now living with her older daughter after quickly selling her house.  That sell was truly a God-send!  Mohamed is still grading end-of-semester final exams, while also working with the moving crew assigned to his new apartment.  Very busy man and sounded so tired.

Hope all had a great day.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Kelly--I was here but just not in the SS.  I was preparing some headings for Sundays when I open a new SS.

Molly--How nice you and Chaps were able to have a visit along with him planting some flowers for you to enjoy.  I continue to pray for him and for Mohamed.

Hi Joan
Can I ask if the work you do on the large first post in the morning takes you a long time.

Good evening to EVERYFRIEND.

THE STORM HIT WITH VENGENCE.....started with rain last night, but turned to snow pretty quickly, so a good 6 inches had arrived when I got up this morning.  Now it has showed all day long so we have a good 13 to 15 inches now and it is still coming down.  We were watching the weather channel a few hours ago and they said Highlands Ranch, where I live had 3" of snow......  I do not know where they got that report, but it has to be wrong.  Bob has been out two times knocking snow off the tree limbs as they are so very heavy laidened.

I made a big pot of chili and it sure hit the spot today.   Fire place is sure making it nice and cozy in here tonight.

MOLLY, I thought about you and Chaps being together today and hoped you both were having a wonderful visit.

SUN, I am sorry you will have to have surgery on you hand.... I do hope I t will be successful and relieve you of that terrible pain.

JACKIE, I must say I was so hopeful that after your move life would calm down for you and Richard..... A few more hoops are in order then with any luck you can get a break from these issues that seem to,crop up,one after the other.  HUGS.

Thank you, JOAN, for our goodies today....you take such good care of us.

My friend Patti was to spend the day with me today, but she called this morning to say she would be shopping for clothes as she drove off and left her clothes at home in Rock Springs, WY.   She is here to attend her aunts 98th Birthday and will be seeing he x's family for the first time in many years.  I know this set her nearly into a tail spin.  I felt bad for her....as you might remember I left my bag at home not too long ago, but mine was just an over nighter....and no important function to worry about.

I wish you all a good evening!  Sleep well.

Jenny

Good Night Everyfriend!  It's been a beautiful day here and I did get some "stuff" done.  We had the windows and doors open most of the day and the sun shone in.  I even put my chair in the tree and had a short nap in it.

I'm off to Dreamland now and I wish you all a peaceful rest and a happy day tomorrow.  As my dad would say "Only one more day and a git up until I go back to work.

Jenny, I can imagine how good your chili dish tasted what with all that snow outside. Is it common for your area to have snow so late in the season ? Spring will be extra welcome for you I'm sure.

Time for me to get ready for bed. I have all of next weeks meds filled out in their proper little boxes and glad I am to have that chore done.

Janie, I'm glad you had such a nice day. It was a bit warm here. I had to turn on the A/C for a while. I get a lot of morning sun, so the place warms up in a hurry.

I wish you all a Good night, and a happy tomorrow. Keep well. Love, hugs and prayers. June

Just got back from a trip to MO.... up at 3:38 am (cats woke me up, my choice to get started with the day).  Almost midnight but couldn't go to sleep without wishing Gloria a wonderful birthday & happy all year blessings. I can't keep my eyes open & must get up at the latest, by 6:00 am.   Daughter is in town to baby sit her grands so parents can have a few days vacation before the new baby arrives in August (think that's the date).  Church & breakfast at McDonald's with everyone.

The wind driving today was the worst EVER.. just wagged that RV back & forth terrible.  My right hand was sore for weeks but tonight feels like someone stepped on it. Would you believe that I couldn't have my peanut butter & Ritz crackers in the RV.... because I couldn't get the jar open!  I have a tool at home that works on any size jar, had it for about 50 years.... so I dug into Amazon kitchen tools & already ordered, will be here Monday!

It was so hot in the RV one day (about 85 degrees) I turned on the AC for a while.  NOT what I like out camping!   Hi to EveryFriend!!!!
