Last week, Vicky, a distraught wife went to the local police station in Wigan, Lancashire, along with her next-door neighbour, Pauline, to report that her husband was missing.

The policeman asked for a description of the missing man. Vicky described him clearly and in detail, 'He is 35 years old, 6ft 4inches, has dark eyes, dark wavy hair, an athletic build, weighs 185 pounds, is softly-spoken and is fabulous with the children.

Pauline interrupts her protesting, 'Why Vicky, your husband is 5 ft 8 inches, corpulent, bald, has a big mouth, and is horrid to your children. Vicky replied, with a sigh, 'Yes, but who wants HIM back?'

Then you forget to pull up your zipper.
It's worse when you forget to pull it down!

How lucky am I to be able to be the first poster in our nice new Soda Shoppe?  Thank you, BUBBLE🥰

JANE, as always, I thank you for your special said prayers for my Dad, Michele and me.  You know I appreciate you doing this so much.  My poor Dad sounded very confused about the whole ordeal of him being kept in the hospital over night.  He did not think they ran any tests this morning at all, but may have take; X-rays, he said.  Bless his heart💞💞. He was given a prescription for his heart and is to stop taking Zocore, the cholesterol drug that he has been on for years.  He is to see a cardiologist.  Michele's mother has been here visiting her this weekend, and leaves tomorrow.  Michele will have the CT scan this week and we are praying it show the tumor on her lung has shrunk, or better yet DISAPPEARED!

I hope EVERYFRIEND is resting well tonight....pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone

A night of NO coughing......yippie!!!  Another lovely day here , one I think is going to be a fry day a/c will soon go on.
Taking Pa aka Kyle to  get his feet done, meeting with friends then home to maybe work in the garden, will see how I feel.
Phylis, thank you for the lemon and honey I mixed it with a bit of water and down it went.

Lloyd, I am sure bourbon would help but  the lemon and honey did the trick.

Jenny, oh my your poor Dad sure has his troubles. I do hope the Drs. get it all straightened out for him.. Yes NO tumors to be found in Michele please God!!Prayers and miracles coming your way.

Larry, great to see you here. I know meds can cause a lot of problems while making one better. My BIL saw a man plowing with horses out his hospital window that was in the city.Just take it one day at a time and enjoy each day to the fullest. Prayers going your way.

Jane, happy to read you are happy with your IP. Talked with David last night and it seems Julie is also in love with the IP. She did eggs in it then potatoes for salad and said wow no more boiling water and dumping pots of hot water.

Better get a move on here..
.
Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Thank you BUBBLE for the nice clean, new Soda Shoppe today!  And thank you for the pics and the jokes to start the day.

AMY, I'm so glad to hear the honey and lemon worked.  I'm also sorry I neglected to tell you about it myself.  My grandmother used to give it to us when we were kids and I felt pampered!  I also stopped coughing and I forgot.  I still use it on myself and like to warm it up in the microwave just a tad.

Go one bag of beans snapped and ready to go.  I'll do another one tonight and if the energy hold out...Ham and beans in the IP for supper tonight..and tomorrow night...and the next night.

I'll be off to greet my public at Wally World today!  Wish me smiles.  I think today is the day they refilled the Food Stamps cards so we'll be busy.  Lots of kids through the line with parents this time of year...no school!

I hope all your news today is good news.  Make today your best!

Just checking in this morning to see how everyone is doing.  It is going to be an even hotter day today so there won't be much going on around here except for the usual Monday morning chores.

Glad you are not coughing as much now, Amy.  I hope it is gone forever.

Jane, if anyone can make good use of the IP I knew it would be you.  So glad you are liking it.

I hope it will be a good day for everyone.....ALL of the Everyfriends here and all of their loved ones.  Take care.

Good morning everyone, down to 64°this  morning and feels great.  Humidity is down too. Better get out and enjoy  today because weather guessers are saying into the 90's by Wednesday. Yuck, will be staying in.

LARRY  so good seeing you here this morning. For someone with a brain as smart as you have it must be horrible not to make yourself understood by your loved ones. My heart breaks reading your post. Hugs and prayers for you.

JOY  the way I always have water near me I don't think I will get dehydrated. My CNA keeps telling me to drink water and I hold up the tumbler to show her how it is going down.

SHIRLEY  LOL with how you looked after the dripping water. Think I would have turned on a radio or TV to block the drip.

JENNY  I am glad my parents did not suffer long at the end. They both had bad hearts for years but when their time came it was fast.

JANE  looks like you liked the first time with the IP. I don't do much coo‌king anymore but if I was able to I might get one.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new page to write in. Love your graphics. Oh boy, Vickie was really dreaming wasn't she? Thanks for your goodies today.

AMY  wonderful, a good sleep with no coughing. I remember trying to sleep sitting up on the couch because every time I laid down I would start coughing.

JANE  hope you have an easy day a t Wm.

PHYLLIS  good morning to you.

Have a good day.

I'm waiting for a return call from the RV place that advertises they replace roofs... and have had 2 robo calls from the same "Nancy, working closely with Medicare to provide you".... I've been getting at least several every day & one day was 5... not always the same phone number but exact same message & voice (recording). There has to be a way for the gov to track these people, it is harrassment & my BP goes over the top each time. I tried using the screecher I carry for purse snatchers, (not hearing about them lately) & saying a really bad word as I slam the phone down... only makes it worse. I tried using the NoMoRoBo calls provided by Cox but that turned out to be a disaster... it allowed robo calls to come through  but none of my family or friends could call me & it even connected my cell phone so I was totally helpless. Had Cox remove all that stuff & back to being harrassed. I wouldn't bother answering but some of the roof or RV repair or claims adjusters use their cell phones & that doesn't leave a name. What a crazy world!

Thank you Bubble for the funnies & new page. I'm trying to keep busy without being on the phone, house roof company & RV people are supposed to be calling this morning. I have a baking chicken in the oven, bad timing with temps already sizzling. Guess it is humidity & NO wind that makes it feel so hot. I planned to vac the pool so ran the pump all night, but it looks so nice there is no need to vac... if I had the energy to don a swim suit I'd go jump in, but sure as I did the phone would ring & I'd splash water in to the house to gather my papers. Enough whining........ just checking in....time to shut up!

A good Monday to EVERYFRIEND.

Another week up and running.  I have a lot I hope to accomplish...... We leave a week from tomorrow for a visit to our Boston Family. We are taking the oldest grandson and the granddaughter with us
and their Dad, Dr. Dave will fly in the end of the week and bring them back home on Sunday.  Dave has never seen older brother's home in Boston and it will give him a short break away also.  The family have not had much of a fun summer with their mom not able to travel.

The youngest Boston Grandson is flying to Green Lake Wisconsin tomorrow to spend a few days with his other grandparents, then he will fly with them to Denver on Sunday as his grandpa has a appointment at National Jewish Hospital. He will spend a couple of days with us then he too, will fly with us to Boston! C R A Z Y.....  We fly out at 6 AM.....poor kiddos!  When I made the reservation, a few months back, I picked that flight as it was the most reasonable one at that time!  It will get us to Boston at a good time too.

I talked to my Dad this morning and he sounded good.  They gave him a prescription for a medicine for Angina, so I guess that was the diagnosis of his ER and hospital visit.  He is to see a cardiologist ASAP. He says he is not going and he is never going back to the ER again either!  Bless his heart😢

I hope you all are having a good Monday.  A weather warning has been issued here and it is getting really dark out.....please NO HAIL😱😱

I was sent this clip this morning and I thought it would be nice to share.

Good morning everyone, yesterday was into the low 80's and the sun was burning hot but in the shade with the light breeze and LOW humidity it felt so nice. More days like hat and I might not dislike summer. Over the coming week end we are in for a heat wave according to the weather guessers. Not nice.

CALLIE  most of what I post is making a comment on what others post. I lead a dull life with nothing much happening.

SHIRLEY  I have had calls for different thing and all with the same voice and different numbers. They think I am stupid and will fall for one of the things they are trying me to give information to them? Don't you ever shut up. I love your posts.

LARRY  I hope you got rest yesterday and feel better today.

JENNY  hope we aren't having a heatwave while you are in Boston. Glad your Dad sounded good. Great link, thanks.

WOW I beat Amy and Jane this morning, guess waking early is what
happens when I go to bed early.
Have a good day.

Better move it here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Gloria, this few minutes while my head is clear..... just want to let you know I talked to a Cox person yesterday afternoon after that "Nancy, working closely with Medicare to give you the back, knee braces...etc".. called 6 times, I was so angry I was nearly in tears but at least the last few times I recognized the number & let it ring.... dumb person used the same number all 6 times. Cox said I can block up to 30 calls (& then unblock/delete so I can add more). Explained how & I did block that number & Nancy did not call again!  I'll be ready for her this morning! :knuppel2:  Can't do a thing about the RV until that person gets back from vacation a week from yesterday & the roof guy was here trying to contact the insurance people to let them know they were about $10,000 short on their estimate, that we really do have a good roof & want it replaced exactly! I am so relieved he is still in business & will handle this for me. All stuff will have to be ordered for RV & house so "it ain't over till it's over."  I do have to pay 1% of the total on house but no deductible on RV (thank goodness).

For a few minutes it is cooler outside than the AC inside so have the slider open by the laptop. Cats all fed, those picky eaters sure know when the salmon & tuna is fresh! I ended up putting that last serving of salmon in the bowl & don't know who ate it, probably Callie. Tiger is the worst but Tom watches to see what she does & unless he is really hungry, will walk away if she does (if he hasn't already cleaned out his bowl). The trees & water in the pool perfectly still so will get sticky hot soon. I was surprised last night when I went down to the river that it was actually comfortable in the shade, just enough breeze coming off the water & mosquitoes weren't buzzing.

Better go fix my breakfast before it gets busy here. I need to sort papers on this table & file away what I can. Little by little I have tried to convert my business papers back to that roll top desk that Cas used, but my head works better when my clutter is in this end of the house where it's been for more than 30 years. I don't handle changes too well.  :-[  I even bought a big package of those hanging file folders for the roll top drawers but have not had time (probably don't use my time efficiently)... to go through each file & toss what isn't current. My brain doesn't think "organized"... too often I will go to take something to the other end of the house & get side tracked & end up starting a whole new job. Well, time to quit thinking & start moving.

Jenn, hope your father finds peace in his health issues. Cas had the nitro tabs in his pocket at all times & would have to get fresh ones often, they had an expiration date. He did learn to not panic after a while, but know he used them more often than he let on. Cas was like your father, wanted no part of staying in a hospital (or care home) even though he would have felt safer. We live close enough to the hospital he used that last 6-8 years that he was okay as long as I could bring him a treat several times a day & visit. We don't know what it will be like for each of us, dying is not the worst part, sometimes living is much harder. Hugs & prayers for all of you, I'm sure your strength & attitude is a blessing to all.

Callie, my #1 son is "down in your neck of the woods" this week. He seems to enjoy being able to help them out & has the years & background that soothes the stress of the guys he works with. Naturally I worry he tries to do too much, but that's what mothers do, isn't it?

Time is flying, been up more than an hour & still haven't had my breakfast & dressed. Good intentions don't count, do they?
Have a Terrific Tuesday, everyone... hope all are "free of the ickies" for now!  Love ya, Shirley.

Good news, Amy, cough over with & weeds to pull... Not a fair trade, I sure hate pulling weeds. My berm looks like a jungle again so will have to take care of that one of these days. Glad the cough is over but got to make sure it isn't "rattling around in the chest 'cause that can turn into pneumonia". I can hear the kids doctor warning me.....

Janie, you & Amy are the busiest people I know & make me feel like a snail. I did get that chicken baked & hamburger turned into taco meat yesterday but not sure WHY I did it. Freezer & frig are full & nobody around to eat but me.

Hooray, I can type again. This foolish HP computer wouldn't recognize me - imagine that!  Ungrateful useless junk computer!

Another afternoon planned just to drive to the VA hospital - it is a tough drive with all the angry speedsters on the road. Speed LIMIT?  What is that?

Jenny:  Busy time for you and I know you are worried about your dad and really the entire family. Sending a cyber hug to you.  By the way, did you hear about the crowd cheering Hancock - someone set fire to our flag and hoisted an entirely different flag from south of the border.  You would think someone would have saved our flag -

Shirley:  Good to read you are feeling better.

We met our granddaughter for lunch in Golden yesterday.  Such a treat - she is always happy and so attentive to us.  Then, driving back the hard rain was something else.  On one stretch of the newest part of the freeway, we were up to the mid part of tires in water.  Another failure of the system of not recognizing that there are huge rainfalls coming from the mountains. Floods on a freeway - should not have been forgotten in the design.

I sound crabby today.  Better tend to my own business.

Hello Everyfriend! Got back from the movie (Alfred Hitchcock's MARNIE)  It was just as good as ever but the best part was the company of my daughter, Cathy for dinner and the movie.

Nothing else of any interest to report so I'm going to get ready for bed.  Tomorrow is a work day and after work, doggies to the vet.

I wish you all a peaceful night's rest and a happy tomorrow.

Good morning everyone, another morning I was awake at 4:30. Already had 1 cup of coffee, just played a few games of Mah Jong  on the PC. Now here I am, oh happy day? Think I will go out for some fresh air early before it starts getting hot. Starting at 72° and I like that for a high temperature.
They are going to finish painting this building in the front. Today they will be power washing the front of the building, they did that  to the roof last week. We got a notice from the office to keep our windows closed while they were doing that. Oh we are so dumb we would leave windows open while they spray water against them. At least the AC's can stay installed. The witch thinks she is the only smart one around.

SHIRLEY  wow you can block some calls? I think I should call Cox and find out how. I am now getting some on my cell phone. Only my family and doctor know that number so if I do not know the number I just let it ring. It is not set up for messages so they cannot leave a message for me to delete. You make me glad I have only 3 rooms and not much storage space so I have to keep thing where they belong. I bet the witch would yell at me if she came in and I had a mess in here.

CAROL  thanks for a laugh this morning with that "foolish HP" I call my HP a lemon. Sent it back to the factory 3 weeks after I bought it and asked for my money back. They sent it back and said the put something in it and it was perfect, 3 weeks later sent it back again, that time I asked for a refund or a new machine.  Back it came and they said they put a new motherboard in it. Well My grandson has worked on it so many times I lost count. The last time I told him to take it home with time to work on. He brought it back 3 weeks later and not much problems since. His job is with computers and he does not like working on them on his time but he will for family. He is a good kid-35 years old and a Dad to an almost 4 year old.

JANE  your fur babies get more TLC from you than some parents treat their little ones.

AMY  glad the coughing stopped, forget the weeds when the sun is on the garden.

LLOYD  just think of what money you  save being smart and changing your own faucets.

Think I will get my breakfast going and get dressed for the day and outside before the sun is too hot.
Have a good day.

Finally we got some nice rain yesterday.  There has been a lot of rain in the area but it just seemed to go around my neighborhood and the lawns were browning out pretty badly.  David doesn't mind that because it means he doesn't have to be out mowing in this heat.

I'm not doing any more than I have to because like the rest of you, it is too hot.  All this week the temp. will be in the high 90's with the dew point in the mid-100's.  Pretty uncomfortable but the A/C keeps plugging along....thank goodness.

Please take care, All.

Not much has been done here...managed to do a bit of cleaning but that is it. Phoned daughter in love to make sure she has enough jars for canning as our hardware stores has them on sale.

Sandy, that made me queasy......I don't have pierced ears, figured if the good Lord wanted me to have them He would have given them to me. Love the photo of Fe!

Better get back at doing nothing..gee I am getting good at this :)
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for July 15, 2019

I'll get in on the "no pierced ears" count. My mother said she wanted to have it done when she was young but her father objected (her mother was dead). I didn't want them for fear I'd rip them out being such a tomboy.

It is breath taking HOT today, Tom & Callie just came in, Tom flopped on the floor exhausted but Callie headed for the dry food dish first. She is still cleaning up. Tiger came in earlier. I had planned to weed whip the berm & chop off the many redbud trees sprouting up. That job can wait! I dressed in long pants so guess I can change. #2 son is going to come by for tacos tonight, usually he doesn't want to eat but he loves tacos. I make my own hot sauce & tried it all out last night. Not bad, if I say so myself!

Still trying to get all the insurance papers in order. Sent them a copy of what was put on in 2006, they questioned the quality of the roof, but all paper work found! When going from the thick wood shake the best of the asphalt roof price looked good at the time, in 13 years prices did go up and way more than the estimate for a 10-30 year roof instead of 50 to life! And so it goes.

Sandy, I agree with Amy, that is a darling photo of Fe. And I can't imagine doing your own ears! Had one friend that said she held an ice cube to the lobe before doing it. I can change a bandage or do necessary repairs when bleeding, but don't have the will power to HURT ME!

Gloria, saw that you were up & attum early.  Our temps were much hotter than yours to start the day, think it said "feels like" the lower 80s & I was up at 5:00 am. Sky turned almost black yesterday afternoon... quicky storm but almost no rain. It feels like it could storm today, wind blowing like crazy & clouds all around but not threatening. Can't tell this year.

Off to clean the floor, cat fuzzies... it happens!

My HP laptop is sorta better today.  It is going to be hot but still normal temps for Denver at this time of the year. Road construction is driving everyone out of their minds.  This is not the mid-sized city anymore and people are cranky not friendly.

Gloria:  I bought this over the internet - the HP I mean.

I have not canned anything in years.  It always had to be done in the hottest time of the year with no A/C.

Regarding piercing ones own
ears:
It didn't hurt that much,
but it was the crunching sound
that the needle made passing
through,  that made me queasy ...

Ha ha!
I am not kidding though, but
I have stopped wearing earrings now
so the holes have disappeared.
 :knuppel2: :uglystupid2:

Fe us so much fun.  I saw her this
morning and she is a very friendly
loving child.    She has so many
Aunties and Grandmothers that love

From Larry today.
***********************
Mary Ann,

Your kind help is so appreciated.  My life seems to be totally out of my control.  All I do is sleep in sort of a daze while being aware of what is going on.  Since I don't seem to be able right now to accomplish what I say I am going to do I have decided to take a leave of absence from the discussion boards.  What I thought I would be able to do or would make a commitment to I just can't seem to focus enough on to accomplish and just continue to sleep.  Therefore would you post on the Discussions that I will not be appearing for awhile and may not be able to return at all.  I hate this as you all are my friends of many years.  I will just have to take things one day at a time. My world is changing by the hour.  I certainly welcome emails but right now just can't handle the discussion boards.  Thanks.

Larry

It's been a long and difficult day and I thank God it's over for now.  So much to do and not enough time to do it all.  I'll be off to bed in a little while.

Mary Ann, thank you from me, too, for the message from Larry.  Unfortunately, I've been expecting it and I'm not surprised. Bless his heart, he tries so hard to keep up!

I'm so tired I can't think straight so I'm going to shut things down for the day and start off new tomorrow.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

GOOD EVENING.....

It was a warm one here in the Mile High today, and will be even hotter tomorrow and Friday.  Thank goodness we have A/C.  We like to open up at night, but last night it was just too warm and even a bit humid.

MARY ANN, I am so very sad to read the message from Larry.  I knew this day would be coming, but I certainly did not expect it this soon.  I just feel so terrible sad for Larry.

Many interruptions, so it is now bed time....pleasant dreams to all.

Nearly midnight, not sure what woke me so opened the door to see if cats were around, no sign of them but didn't take me long to shut that door to the heat. Awful!!!

Thank you for the message from Larry, Mary Ann. This "stage" has come on much faster than I expected but at least it sounds like he is comfortable, not in pain.

Wishing Every Friend a peaceful night, sweet dreams. God Bless.  Shirley

Good morning everyone.

Another muggy day with more to come. We didn't get the storm that was forecast ,others did including flash flooding!

I will be off to the chiropractors in a bit then onto the Dr.s to pick up my note to be excused from jury duty. Will take the day as it comes after that.

Jane, hope you are feeling alright..and today is a much better day for you. Hope you can rest a bit today and not go 150 mph!

Gloria, the weeds are just going to have to stay there until I can rely on my legs.I did see tomatoes starting and beans are in flower!

Joy, hope everything is ok with you.

Phyliss, I do not like this hot humid weather either...little is being done here too!

Shirley, has that stray kitten come back?

Jenny ,hope your Dad is doing better.

Larry, good morning should you peek in.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been sleeping better at night the past few nights.  I broke down and took melatonin one night when I just plain couldn't get to sleep and I felt so much better in the morning that I've been taking one each night about a half hour before I hit the sack.  It seems to be working and I wake up feeling rested.

AMY, it seems there's only 150% or 0% to be going these days.  I'm NOT giving up!

I have jars heating and beans strung and snapped waiting for the jars.  That will be today's business.

I hear the boinger so it's time to feed the doggies and I've finished my coffee.  I'll be getting on with my day.  I hope all of you have a lovely and loving day!

Good morning.

Amy, I think I am feeling better.  I am forcing myself to stay up and get myself pulled together today. I have not done anything  for the past few days.  So, I think once I get going, I will feel better.

I am just so, so sorry to read the message from Larry.  Like you all have mentioned, his condition has certainly declined so rapidly the past few days.  I feel so bad for him and his family.  I certainly admire him for the courage and determination that he has shown the past month or more. I know it must be hard for Pat and Scott and the rest of the family.

Jane, between you and Amy, you make me tired just reading about all you both can get accomplished in a day.  I so wish I had your energy.  I know your green beans will be so good on the upcoming cold winter days.

I just want to send good wishes to all the friends who I have just not mentioned individually.  I just have not felt up to writing, although I have been reading the messages the past few days.

I will try to get back here later. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and stay COOL !

Joy

Good morning.  It is going to be hot again and I have to decide if I want to go to the store or just stay in.  I made a sudden decision to go out to the farm stand yesterday and I am so glad I did.  They had loads of wonderful looking tomatoes and peaches. I picked up quite a few of those plus some corn on the cob, sweet onion, and red potatoes.  I looked long at the green beans and they looked so good but decided to wait and try to get back to the farm stand next week.  After that I went to the car wash and ran the car through for the first time in month or so.  And then, we took a notion to go to a place called Chanticleer for lunch.  It was very busy but we found a table and the food was very good.  It was nice to get out after being shut up in the house for so long but I was tired when I got home.  After putting away the fresh veggies I made a bee line for the recliner and had a nice nap.  At dinner time we were still full from the big lunch so I made some toasted wheat bread and we had peach jam to spread on that.  It was just right for a light supper.

I'm feeling sad about Larry.  I hope he will recover enough to come back but I accept the fact that he might not be able to.  Such a hard time for his family.  I've always enjoyed reading his daily thoughts and activities.  I'll miss him.

Take it easy, Everyone.  Eventually we will all be complaining about the snow.

Good morning everyone, heard rain hitting my windows, nope not rain when I pulled the shade up. Power washing this part of the building, getting ready to finish painting. They painted the back and sides last summer but with all the rain they could not finish. They were washing the front yesterday but guess it got too late to do this area. We got a loud storm after the 2 men doing that job left for the day. Lost power for awhile.  Only thing I forgot is when we loose power I have to reset the time on the microwave. Noticed it when I was leaving the kitchen with my coffee to come here. Oh well I never use it to check the time so it can wait. Going to be a hot one again with the humidity climbing, yuck. Already 72° and for me that would be great for the high of the day. Was surprised when I saw the time I woke, after 7 and I have been waking up between 4 and 5 in the mornings lately.

AMY  you sound like Shirley and me for the heat. At least we don't get as hot as she does. Shakey legs? About time for you to cut back on some of the work you do? I knew a lady who laid newspaper in her garden, kept weeds down and it rotted into the ground for fertilizer over the winters. Did not look nice but she never weeded.

PHYLLIS  we are in for a tropical week end here. in the 90's and humidity/dew point will make it feel 110° and higher. I sure will not be going out. Hope my AC can keep up with that. Even if I have to shut bedroom door to be cool in here.

AMY  I would like to make those who start those robo calls in a room with a lot of phones ringing all the time and they would have to answer.

JANE  your fur babies are lucky, so many treat pets like they are pests and hardly even feed them, thinking they can take care of themselves. Like people they need attention.

SANDY  when my daughter pierced her ears my ear lobes hurt the whole time. Do we have a connection? We still do and know when the other needs cheering.

SHIRLEY  I always had a problem with heat and humidity so it is not old age getting to me. I will not be going out at all today. I will go down stairs if I get lonesome. First floor is always cool. There are ACs at both ends of the hallways but just enough that it is not hot in the hallways. The witch is trying to save money. Other years the hallways were cold.

CAROL  I ordered my HP online from the company. I did not want to ask my grandson to help me so did it on my own. Boy I have been sorry ever since. I don't know how my Mother canned in the summer on a stove that was heated by oil and had to be on, no gas stove, and not even a fan.

MARY ANN  thank you for posting Larry's message. I know he has helped all of us at one time or another and we all miss him.

JANE  hope you had a restful needed sleep last night.

JENNY  I keep my AC running all night, would be too hot to sleep without it.

AMY  about time you started knowing you cannot do every thing in a day.

JANE  I have been hearing a lot about the melatonin lately, wonder if I should get some for the nights I have trouble sleeping.

JOY  good seeing you here this morning. Missed you. I find I can do less every day. Thank goodness I have a CNA 5 days a week or this small apartment would be a mess and I would starve.

LLOYD  I am with you about those with piercings in nose and lip and other odd places. One in the ear is enough.

PHYLLIS  I always enjoy getting out for a few hours but get so tired it takes a few days to feel rested again.

Have a good day and keep cool if possible.

JaneS  -  I'm dropping back into Soda Shoppe, to tell you that Marnie, is the only Hitchcock movie that I've never seen!  I missed it way back when when it was first released in theaters, and it's the only one that I've never seen playing on Turner Classic Movies?  I'm sure it cycles through like all the others, so I hope to eventually see it.  I'm going to follow your lead, and buy some Melatonin today.  It would be such a treat to have a restful night, and to sleep through till morning!

MARILYNE, good luck with the melatonin and good luk finding "MARNIE"!  It was really good!

Seven jars of string beans cooling on the counter!  I get such a feeling of accomplishment when I look at the fruits of my labor!

Doggies have to have some more tests.  Both have elevated liver enzymes and my vet did not understand why when we've been treating the symptoms.  So she looked at the illnesses that are particular to Scotties and found what she thinks might be the answer.  She gave me some information to look up.  I did and I don't really understand it but she does and that's all that's important.  I have to take Annie in for an Ultrasound tomorrow and then we go from there.  Mickie will not like being alone all morning!  I think I'll ask my friendly neighbor to look in on her when he has a minute.  He's retired now and he likes my dogs.

I'm feeling nervous about the outcome of the tests and I have to keep busy so I don't fix my thoughts on it.

We had an awesome time ,picked up the letter from the Dr then went into the city...stopped at Habitat for Humanity and got a big bag of grass seed and another big bag of bird seed. On into the city and picked up a few things at two grocery stores....then got fed up!!! I do mean fed up at a Chinese buffet. My tummy hurts, first time in a long time I have felt like eating. Dogs enjoyed their chicken balls that we brought out .

Jane, ask your vet about milk thistle. I am not sure what your dogs are taking in meds but see what your vet says.
I liked the AH movie the Birds  also. Bet those beans look nice in your jars!!

Gloria, I had thought of the newspaper trick and just may do that when I clean the garden up. I know slowing down is no fun but need to be more careful for sure.

Better get a few things done here...

AMY, my babies have been taking milk thistle and dandelion for most of their lives.  My sister had a holistic vet for her dog and it was recommended to her.  She told me about it and I asked the vet and she said "if it's a natural blend, it can't hurt".  And when the elevations were found, they recommended Denamarin and that's got the same stuff in it.  One think I did notice in the readings she directed me to is that some of the meds that help other breeds don't necessarily work on Scotties.  I guess we'll find out!

I braved the 87º and went to the local Mennonite store looking for a certain kind of peppers that are required in a recipe I want to make.  They didn't have them but I bought 2 canteloupes, a box of cherries and 2 big MacIntosh apples.  Then I went to two other produce stands and didn't find them there either.  But I came home with 6 ears of corn and a zucchini.  Now what shall I do with all that stuff.

I also came home with a lot of perspiration and a great big thirst!

I think I'm in for the rest of the day!

Good morning everyone, I woke before the rooster crowed this morning. Going to be a long day. No AC running last night, it cooled off and felt so good. 64° to start instead of in the 70's. Will not last long, the heat wave starts today if all the weather guessers  are right.

SANDY  when my daughter got married and moved to San Diego where her husband was born, we used to write letters. One of us would ask a question and out letters would pass going across the country. We would get the letters and the questions were answered before we even got the questions. Tell some people that and they think I am making it up. Could be that others never were close to their children.

MARY ANN  I am close to my 2 sons, too, but not like her and me.

JANE  I remember how I liked seeing all the canning jars full of what I did and knew they would last most of the winter months until fresh fruit and veggies were in season again. I never thought of canning as work, I did enjoy it. Hope the ultrasound on your fur baby does not show anything wrong. We love our pets like they are  our children.

AMY  glad you are getting your appetite back. Wish I could but would not want to gain all the 70 pounds I lost, I would be happy to get 20 back, that would bring me up to 100 pounds. I have a day now and then when I have a bit of energy and will do a bit of cooking but then I over do it and I have to lay down to rest my back. No fun. My daughters gets straw to put on her raised beds garden, No weeding at all, she does like that.

JANE  my son that lives a few miles from me and my DIL came yesterday afternoon and took me out for ice cream. I sure enjoyed  the change of routine. Stopped at their home on the way back and he picked me a small zucchini and a small summer squash. I know what I want to do with them today but my CNA will have to do the cooking. His tomato plants are loaded with tomatoes but all green. No ripe ones for at least 3 more weeks here.

LLOYD  you really do not have to send your hot temperatures east to us here. I can do without anything over 75°. Good luck at the VA.

LARRY  if you get in here know that prayers are being sent up to God for you.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's going to be a scorcher here today.  If the guesses are correct, our high will be 94º!  I wish I could just stay home and vegetate but I have to drop Annie at the vet around 9 and then go to work for 4 hours.  They will call when it's time to pick her up so that will be another trip out in the heat.

My neighbor across the steet doesn't work today so she's going to check up on Mickie.  She just really hates to be left alone and I don't like leaving her alone.

I hope you all have a lovely day today.  Stay cool!

I see I'm not the only one up early this morning.  I was surprised to see it is 79 degrees out already at 6:45 am.  I think the forecast is for over 90 today and I'm happy I have air.  Both Tom and I are bothered by the humidity so I try to keep the thermostat where the a/c cycles.

Today is trash day and I have to put that together.  The trash isn't picked up until around noon so I'll work on it about 10 am.

My nephew Terry's father-in-law died yesterday.  Terry died two years ago and his wife (Jan) has been caring for both of her parents as they started dementia.  Her father also had other ailments and slowly declined.  We will miss him, but he is in the better place now.

Good morning everyone..
Today and tomorrow are to be unbearable with heat. Will get done what needs to be done early before the scorcher starts.

Jane, sounds like you had a productive day ,gleaning all your fruits and vegetables. Hope the vet finds an easy fix for Annie. I know how much you love and worry about your furkids.

Mary Ann, sorry to hear about Terrys father in law . I also dislike humidity!

Gloria, are you drinking Boost or Ensure to help? I also enjoy canning as we know what is in the food. Hope you can stay cool today.

Lloyd, hope you can get your work completed before it gets too hot.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I read all the notes and send sweet thoughts to all of you!

From years of working,I automatically wake before 6 AM. If housework is too much, it is easy to fall asleep in a comfy chair.

As for taking a baby or any child to a retirement home - the residents just adore having babies and dogs around. I bought a doll for mom when she was in a home and it was comforting for her last days.

Jane:  Sorry to read that you had such an exhausting day.  This will make you smile:   I was royally "chewed out" by the 20 item limit checker yesterday.  I was steering the small cart & didn't bother to count - no one was there so I pushed the cart into her check-out space.  She said, "are you not aware that this has a 20 item limit?" Then, I realized there were 26 items in the cart - she was so miffed at me.  I did apologize twice.   Must pay attention next time.  Anyway,it is exhausting to shop in that WM store and they keep changing and dropping some items that are slow in sales.

Stay safe everyone.

Thinking of Larry and his family.

Carol, I've done the same thing with getting in the wrong lane.  There was one cashier who knew my name and called me by name and I usually tried to get her lane.  One time I had James with me and he was a toddler and I wanted to show him to her.  I had a cart full of groceries but got in line so I could show him off.  She was very nice and waited until everything was tallied, then told me I was in the Express Lane.  Fortunately, anyone behind me was kind and did not complain to me!

I checked with Tom to make sure he had the dehumidifier going.  His quarters are in the lower level and while it can be cooler than upstairs, it also can be more humid.  We run the dehumidifier in the summer downstairs and the humidifier in the winter upstairs.  I wish we could strike a happy median.

CAROL, I don't know where the store is that has those checkers but we are NOT allowed to tell someone they are in the wrong lane.  If they come in the express lane with too many items, we are to check them out normally an not mention that it's an express lane.

I was once on the express and a lady came through in a wheelchair.  The first thing she said to me was, "I'm in a hurry because I have a dr. appt in (a town about 30 miles away) at 4 o'clock so I hope this really IS an express lane."  I glanced at my watch and noticed that it was 3:20.  If she'd been in her car right then, she wouldn't have made it.  But I checked her out as fast as I could knowing all the while that she had more than 20 items.  When she got everything up on the counter she added a handful of embroidery floss.  As I rang them out I counted just the floss.  She had 47 of them.  And they have each be scanned alone! That was 47 in addition to the 26 or so she started with.  Needless to say, she didn't make it to the dr. appt on time.  And I hope my exasperation didn't show!

I was so hot when I got home from picking up Annie that I decided not to venture out of the house again until I REALLY HAVE to or the weather cools a bit.  I don't think the A/C is working top notch in my car and I was sweating from every pore when I got home!

CALLIE, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TALK ABOUT?

CALLIE, for me it's an outlet.  I know I can say anything to my friends here and it's not going to get back to my kids.  If I thought my daughter who lives here in town would read this, it would certainly limit what I say.

I so enjoy LEARNING from all of you.  Everyone's life is different.  We may do some of the same things or think some of the same things but our locations and our life experiences make them all different.  I always wish I could meet all of you!

For explanation... it's just my daughter's reaction to some things that is different.  She seems to think she has to "take care of mom" and that's nice but sometimes unnecessary.  So I don't tell her "everything".

Janie, Some of my happiest memories are of meeting SeniorFriends from all over the world... sometimes at Senior Net  Bashes...sometimes as they travelled through or visited Oklahoma and especially....like you....when they came to my home.

Okay....time to move on.... What's going on in ny world?

Well, this week, I've done errands, begun getting acquainted with my new computer, joined a dozen or so friends for a Book Club meeting followed by lunch served by the hostess, fed Miss Emily when she stopped by to change clothes and do her makeup before going to a wedding and had my toenails trimmed at the podiatrist's.

Today I watered the patio pots, changed the sheets, did three loads of laundry, baked Basic Meatballs while kitchen was still cool and put them in the freezer for future fixing with gravy, BbQ sauce or ?? and caught up with The Grands by chatting with Miss Emily as she was on her way back to KC.

Have also enjoyed evenings  with neighbor on her patio which is cooler because it isn't surrounded by 3 brick walls like mine is.

Nothing very useful but I'm enjoying it.  ;D

Me, either, Jane, sons & daughter.... ::)  ;D  :-\

Callie, WE are supposed to get a cool down by Sunday, 80 sounds a lot better than this 100+ & then heat index... Miserable. My grass looks like late August today, winds sucking the last of the moisture out & would only be watering the neighbor's yard if I ran the sprinkler system!

Have a question for all.... my claim's person is starting to rub me the wrong way & I'm not sure if I should "take it personally" or let it go. They wanted proof that this roof is what I told them so scanned & sent the paper that Cas & I signed in 2006 saying we would agree to the price offered to put on new shake shingles or, for a few thousand less, put on this asphalt which is "50 year to life". We chose to go with the asphalt & insurance saved a few thousand. NOW the lady in charge insists the scanned papers from the roofer & MY copy are not proof enough, that the roofer has to take off a shingle & send to a place that will verify what it is... before the insurance agrees. This is an insult to me & the roofer, I think....  I even told the lady that I am not looking at the carpet & wood part of the fence & paint damage (that was repaired or replaced in 2006), "because I don't want to bother fixing those things!"  I have to have the roof replaced on the RV & that is a different insurance, no problem with them. Anyway, am I being upset over nothing or is this lady playing the power game?  The roofer says there is no problem, that they HAVE to replace what I have, but I still think it is an insult when they have their own files (I'm sure of this)... to know what they paid for in 2006. My BP is really throwing fits, not afraid they won't pay, but embarrassed at their acting like I would lie about it!  Anyway, maybe I am being too touchy (don't think so....  :'(  )

Morning everyone, not to good here. At 5:30 am already 78°. By noon it will be 90°.  Looks like this will be a day when I shut all doors to keep the cool in this room and the kitchen. Hope I don't get claustrophobia from it. My son called last night and said he will be here early this morning before it gets hot. He told me that the pond next to his home has closed the beach because the water is polluted. He is having trouble keeping his pool clear between the rain and the hot sun.

JANE  hope your fur babies made out OK yesterday. One home alone and one at the Vet.

MARY ANN  hot all around the country right now. Oh I really hate summer heat.

AMY  I drink 2 Ensure high protein containers every day, doctor's orders. My CNA has been making me milk shakes every day with ice cream and an Ensure. She is determined to get some pounds on me. Of course she is over weight and would like t see me get that way. Told her if she does she will have to buy me new clothes. She said would be worth it. When I got married I weighed 90 pounds. Went up to 110 with my first baby.

CAROL  I have seen people with a full carriage go to the quick check outs and they get dirty looks and comments from everyone, they just think it does not apply to them. With only 2 items over that clerk must have been having a rough day.

JANE  that lady in the wheelchair thought she would fool you by putting that floss on the counter after the first check out and thought they would be rung up as one item?

CALLIE  if I didn't make comments on everyone's posts I would have nothing to say.

JANE  I am with you, would love to meet everyone but I never could travel and have no room here to gather.

SHIRLEY  that insurance woman you talked to pulling a power play? Like the time a car ran a stopped sign and hit my car. It was her fault-other driver and the cop said she had been drinking, he could smell it- and my insurance jumped high. I called insurance company and a man kept telling me it was because I had an accident. I called when I got home from work several times and got that man. Finally I was so upset I took a day off work and called in the morning, got a woman and talked to her, she said it was not my fault and I had that ins. company for years with never a claim, that was the one and only accident I was ever in. My insurance did not go up.

LLOYD  like you, this place is where good friends are and I would be lost without all of you.

Keep cool if possible during this heat wave, Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up since about5:30 or so and trying to get some things done before the heat sets in.

CALLIE, today is laundry day for me.  Since I don't intend to go out in this heat (95º for the high) I'm doing laundry and putting things away.  I would really enjoy a book club and there are several in this small college town.  Since my eyes have become so bad, reading is one of the things I miss most in my life.  Like you, I love it when one of my grandchildren shows up.  I also love it when one of my grandnieces shows up. They have both attended or are attending a college nearby and I'm thankful that they remember good times at my house and want to keep that going.

GLORIA, you beat me here this morning.  That's happening more and more lately.  Either you're getting up earlier or I'm not coming in as early as I did.

I suppose when I go to post this, AMY will have beat me here and I'll have to try again.  Anyway, here goes.  Have a lovely day, Everyfriend, and try to stay cool!

Good morning everyone..

Today is going to be hotter than tomorrow.....ughh.

We are to go to make an appearance in at a 90 yr old gentleman that Kyle knows today. Then home to stay out  of the heat.

Shirley, that lady is not nice in my books, she is making a power play. I would be tempted to tell her maybe my layer should be taking care of this and if so maybe I will be bothered to get the other things repaired also.

Gloria, tell your CNA to do what I did with my friend, he wouldn't drink Boost but a nurse said to do this. She made him a shake, with Boost, CREAM not milk and ice cream to get it good and cold and he loved it!!
We need rain here the grass is getting crispy!

Lloyd, I hope you have a wonderful day today, stay cool and safe please.

I think the best response I have heard when a person with a heaped up buggies got is the 12 or less checkout when the cashier asked her. "Which 12 items would you like checked out"

Better get a move on here need to put laundry out.

Enjoy your day everyone.

If I'm the only one coming up to the check out the checker in the Express lane will call me over and take me no matter how many items I have.  But, if it is busy I always go to the unlimited  check-out.  I'm in no hurry and don't have to be any where soon.  I enjoy talking to the checkout person when they are not busy.  Rules generally have a reason to be in place so why not abide by them?

I'm sipping on coffee and watching the British Open Golf from northern Ireland.  Beautiful country there and it is a gorgeous day.

I realize that sometimes I probably talk too much here about my interest in food and cooking but since I lead a pretty uneventful life (thank goodness for that!) that is about all I have to talk about.  Otherwise, I wouldn't have a whole lot to say, at all.

I hope it will be a comfortable day for everyone...wherever you are.

PHYLLIS, if I'm on the express lane and we're not busy, I call people in, too.  I'd rather have a customer with a cartload than none at all.

Phyllis and Jane, I've had that happen to me - being called to the non-busy Express lane.  In the instance I cited, I was so excited to find the lane empty and the cashier was one I had often and wanted to show off my great-nephew.  I never noticed which lane it was and she knew she could tell me I was in the wrong lane without offending me.  I don't have that problem now since we shop online and Tom picks up the groceries.

It's on its way to being hot.  I have just finished my shower and shampoo and I'm waiting for the a/c to start up.  I have a door open, but will close it when the a/c kicks in.  Tom has left for the morning, maybe afternoon.

I think I'll turn on the British Open.  I can watch ships on my computer and those will keep me busy for a while.

Good morning.  Just checking in to say Good Morning.

It is to be a hot day here, also.  Luckily, I don't have to go out anywhere.  My son had asked if I wanted to go out for dinner, but I declined.  I am feeling better, but still not back to feeling like going out to eat.

I did not have a good night again, and it is always so nice to see the sun beginning to show up on the trees outside my window.  The nights can be very long.

I have been very lazy and not feeling like doing too much, but I think I might try to do something with some apples that are starting to get old.  I am thinking about some kind of a kind of apple pie. I have some Jiffy Pie crust mix and I like to just make up the dough and roll out a big circle and put it in a dish and pile the apples in it and just fold the edges over the apples. Must easier than making a regular pie.  I haven't had anything sweet for a while now.

Phyllis, I always enjoy anything you write about the meals and food that you fix.  Everything always sounds so good. I still have not used my IP yet.  One of these days, hopefully, I will get the urge to use it.  It is still sitting on my counter.  I need to do the water test, first, and then, maybe that will give me some incentive.

I have not been making a whole lot of "anything", since I have just not felt like eating or even fixing anything. I have plenty in the freezer, tho.

Like Gloria, I just don't have much of an appetite.  Although the other night, I did call out for carry-out.  I had ordered a basket of pop-corn shrimp and fries and breaded onion rings.  It was really hot when it got here and the shrimp were the biggest pop-corn shrimp I have ever seen.  And it all tasted so good. Had enough fries left for another meal the next night.  I fixed a hot dog and had that with the fries and a dish of cucumbers.  Didn't take long to fix that at all.  I am thinking I just might order more of the shrimp one night soon again.

I hope everyone will have a good weekend. AND SAY COOL !!!

I should have taken notes and not answered the phone twice before replying.

The store is in Highlands Ranch.

Here, in Colorado' it is always dry and rare to be humid. Slathering lotion helps but I must say the heat is more comfortable. We are now going  into the period of afternoon storms so that will cool things a lot after 3 PM.

Joy:  I am forcing myself to use the iPot.  So far, it has been really nice to me.

Mary Ann:  Where do you watch ships on your computer?   I grew up in Seattle and my bedroom had a view of the Navy Base & downtown port.  Now, the old house is gone  along with two cherry trees and an apple tree - with Blackberries growing the the alley and it is a condo.  Downtown is filthy and smelly too - so my children say and some of them go there for business trips. I am not going to attend the high school reunion this year.

Carol, the ships are mostly on St Clair River, the dividing line between Michigan and Ontario Canada.  The river connects Lake Huron with Lake St Clair and is about 50 miles north of Detroit.  We also watch ships in Duluth MN and Superior WI.  I watch the Soo in northern Michigan with the Soo Canada across the St Mary's River and locks.  All of the ships that go from Duluth and Superior to points east of Michigan must go through the Soo locks (Sault Ste Marie, MI and ON).  The ships are mostly freighters carrying iron ore or iron products, but some foreign ships carry grain.

I have been in Seattle once or twice on tours.  I think when my dad made the decision to come to Grand Rapids MI that a second choice was Seattle.  I think GR won because both parents had families in MN and WI, closer to MI.  I think Dad made a good choice.

If you are interested (or anyone else) in any of the links, I'll be glad to send them to you.  I am not aware of any for Seattle, but I haven't tried.

I grew up in a house that had a cherry tree in the back yard and my mother often made cherry pies.  Our area was part of a former fruit farm.  Eventually, the tree rotted and Dad cut it down.  I still love cherry pie.

Tom uses the IPot occasionally and things have turned out good.  I love pot roast with onions, carrots and potatoes.

It is Saturday afternoon already and I just do not know where the time goes, but it passes much too quickly.

We were up early yesterday to go to Dr. Dave's.  He had a colonoscopy and we took the 3 grands to breakfast and to a few other entertaining things, and Michele drove him. We returned home just in time to jump in the shower to dress for dinner. Youngest Son Brian and DIL, Cathy took us downtown for a wonderful meal.  We ate at a place on the top story of a building with a spectacular view of downtown Denver.  We ate out side and it was delightful in spite of it being 100• here in Denver.  It was in the shade and there was a nice breeze.

JANE, I am sorry you did not find the Peppers that you needed, but it appears you found a lot of other yummy things!

SHIRLEY, I am sorry the insurance adjuster is causing you so much stress....I certainly understand why you feel she is over questioning you.  I hope you are able to get this taken care of soon...no one needs this kind of stress....especially when it is so dar; HOT outside.  HUGS.

AMY, my dad seems to be doing very well....his voice is strong and he kids with me a lot.  He went to the cardiologist yesterday and the doc did not seem too concerned about anything in particular.  He wants him to stay on the new Angina pill he was prescribed and to come back in 6months.  Of course my thought was that my dear grandpa went to his cardio doc in the morning and was told all was fine and he dropped dead that afternoon! 🙀😩  None of us ever know, but at least right now he seems to be doing well.  He is very confused about things, and he is concerned about it.  I just tell him that we too have that issue and not to worry about it....just do your best🥰🥰. I hope your doctor gave you a permanent excuse for jury duty, and the chiropractor did a good treatment on you.

JOY, I am sorry you still are not feeling that well and had to decline the offer from your son to go to dinner.  Feel better💞

We are in the middle of a bad thunderstorm....warnings are coming in like crazy.  So far it has been only wind and rain, but hail is falling everywhere.

I think I best get off of here as the lightening is really bad right now, AND I am only about half way done with my packing for the Boston trip.....I must get busy!

Enjoy the rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

My son came over in this extreme heat to mow my grass and it's all done.  Kiran came with him and we had a nice visit while the grass was being mowed.  She's still swimming on a team and she loves it!  They're using the Bucknell University pool and their instructors are students who swim on the college team.  I got 3 hugs from her 2 kisses from my son (he said he's too sweaty for hugs.  I said I wouldn't mind) but the kisses were nice too.  And he took a container of ham and beans home with him for his supper.  Kiran didn't want any!

Forgot to mention that one of my things when I'm on an express register and I see someone counting is to motion them in.  Sometimes, they say "I think I might be over."  I tell them, "that's OK. I can only count to 19".  It puts them at ease.

I did all the laundry today and ran the dishwasher, too so I have clean clothes, a clean bed, clean towels and dishes in the cupboard and spoons in the drawer.  I'm ready to go!

I also pulled some weeds while Kiran and my son were here so I could throw them in the truck with the grass.  He takes it to the recycling center and they make mulch out of it.  See, I "pay" for my free mulch!

Now I'm going to become a couch potato.  I've been busy all day and I'm going to rest on my laurels!

CALLIE, I agree with you that a visit with a granddaughter is a special treat.  And it's especially so if it's unexpected!

Fight the urge to go out in this heat!  Stay in where it's air conditioned and do nothing if you feel like it!

Our extreme heat has disappeared for the time being.  That doesn't mean we won't get more, but I noticed the forecast for the week is in the 80s rather than in the 90s.  I have an indoor/outdoor thermometer that registers the outside temp between this building and the garage.  I feel heat is trapped in that area so it may register more than it is.  Anyway, earlier today the temperature was 96 degrees.  That was with the sun shining in the area.  We had a good storm about 5 pm and now, at 8:45 pm, the temperature in the area is 74 degrees.  Quite a comedown.  We went after sandwiches for supper and saw the sky was blue in some areas and clear.

I watched the water on the Port Huron cam and it was a charcoal grey color.  Then I saw the sky and that was almost black.  They had a good storm and I think things will clear up there too.  They had a sailboat race from Port Huron to Mackinac Island today and I'll bet those sailors got wet and probably blown around too.

I had a long (and you know I am bad about that) post typed this morning & expected to scroll back to that (that is how I know when I've reached the last posts I've read)....only I didn't find that post so thought back over the day. My son knocked on the door just as I started to put in size & color & instead of posting, I got out of the internet. duh...... He was here early to put the whole new insides in that commode that was causing trouble last week & decided to get contrary again. This time he even put in a new line from the shut off valve to the inside connect (I don't know the proper names).. & it is behaving ever since!  I do have a whole load of towels that caught the clean water that dripped from that outside hose so must get with the program so I can take my Sat.night shower & wash hair. This is my growing season for hair, look like a shaggy dog & just did a short cut a week ago.  :(

Took some bread down to the river while ago & was happy to see some big catfish & carp back waiting to be fed. The catfish do a flip as the grab a bite & send water splashing everywhere. The carp just coast along with their mouth open to let the bread float in. All 3 cats went down with me & came back up, now laying around the pool relaxing. Tom & Tiger took a nap with me this afternoon, felt like we were in the RV. Tom laying along the back of my legs & Tiger sleeping on my arm.

Thank you all for understanding my stress & concern with attitude of the lady at the insurance company. To put another doubt in my mind, had a message from the roofing guy that was here when the claim's agent was on top of the roof. He really did appear to point out the dings & need for a new roof, and I would have gone with his company until the first quiz about the type of shingles we had. My brain is now considering all reasons for this lady to act suspicious... I thought there would be no question about what we have because of all the paperwork from that previous installation. But when I dug out the papers I found the card & phone numbers to call for that company & the guy that owns that company was "near" by & at my door in 20 minutes. He remembered all the details & also put the roof on the house next door, so I thought it would be simpler to just have his company handle everything. I've had a couple calls from the guy that was on the roof with the insurance man, today he left a message wondering if "everything was going okay, no problem with insurance, etc"... so this nagging brain wonders if HE may have put a doubt into my insurance company about either me, my roof or the roofing company. I'm doubting everyone including myself! I know what we were told went on, what we signed a contract to use... but I have no clue if we got what was paid for. Isn't this crazy? Of course we got the good stuff... I saw it go on in the next block so called that lady & asked what it was & would she mind if we chose the same thing. There is no doubt the insurance will pay for the new roof & that we do have the heavier type. The son of the owner that put this roof on stopped by every day after college classes & said he would see what the problem is, he called yesterday looking for his father...said he is certified with GAF & from what I read online, that means I really can get the certified lifetime roof when this is all done. I'm going to quit thinking about it, too many other things to take care of. But thank you all for the pep talks!  I hate the feeling that I can't trust anyone other than family!  :-\

Jenny, glad to hear your father is happier... you do have a busy schedule! Talk about stress, don't know how you manage. I know everyone is holding their breath for the results of the latest test of Michele's ... good that she can drive. I have not been to Denver since meeting my friends back in '84. Both of them are dead now. What a trip that was!

Joy, Phyllis & Amy, hope you are all feeling better. I cut the rest of that chicken up that I baked this week, some went into Zataran's gumbo & Zataran's jambalaya yesterday, along with smoked turkey sausage. Today I used the rest for chicken & noodles. The broth was delicious but I did add a couple cans of Swanson's chicken broth since those frozen Ream's egg noodles can soak up a lot of moisture! I even added a few more spices to the pot (I use what my herb & spice book calls for pheasant under glass). The house smelled wonderful. I have tubs to freeze that will taste good when I don't know what I'm hungry for... especially when camping in MO with just me & the cats. I do appreciate having a freezer in this RV & not have to keep buying ice every other day!

Gloria, sure wish we were all in the same neighborhood... I know I am not a natural cook (like my sister) but have a few dishes that everyone seems to enjoy. My neighbor that died this past year & I would trade food now & then, when we came up with something that hit the spot or knew the other needed comfort food. Her husband was crazy about my coleslaw... & would beg me to make it for him. The last year he was having stomach problems so his wife would let me know when he couldn't have any. I have not made it since she died, he moved to a retirement place & was gone in less than a year. I do miss them.

Jane, aren't our kids the best?   :smitten:  Still doesn't mean we can tell them everything, right?  ;)

Mary Ann, I have the outdoor thermometers stuck to my kitchen window & one in the bedroom. Tonight before I walked down to the river I checked... the one by the sink showed 100°  and was NOT in the sun. It is much cooler down by the river. We've had 100+ for several days & it is bone dry. Supposed to cool down with a storm Sunday night.

Been sitting here thinking... I agree with Lloyd, y'all are the best & would not know what to do without each of you.."Everyone is special, in your own way"...song in there. Sweet dreams & God Bless.  Shirley

Good morning everyone..

Another hot one in the making and again they are calling for rain. Sure hope we get an all day soak here.

Laundry was out on the line and back in and folded before we went to the 90th birthday party. Enjoyed our time there and came home. I headed for the basement and sewed the rest of the afternoon. After supper the weeds and I had a date so out they came.Still need more work done but a little at a time in this heat.
Shirley ,how I would love to walk to the river with you and see this.I fed crows plus two doves and their three babies. Feeling a lot better now thank you and don't wish that again!

Jane, I am sure you will be cooking up a storm with all your goodies. Pumpkin is coming along  so far so good. They haven't flowered yet but then again neither has the zucchini.

Jenny, happy to read your Dad is doing good. Prayers for good results for Michele.

Gloria, hope today is a cooler day for you. I can't imagine being in the 100° weather like Shirley, that is way too hot!!

Joy, your take out meals sounds delicious but then again so does your hot dog. We cut up tomato and onion in small pieces and put it on the hot dog....yummy!!

Phyllis, I enjoy reading your posts , learning different recipes plus new ways to cook something. I know I am having fun with the IP and need to make yogurt soon. Maybe today just might be that soon day. :)

Mary Ann I don't like this heat and humidity. Can't wait till the cooler weather gets here.To work outside for a short length is difficult. I can't imagine workers that have to be out in it working. Years ago I was one of them when we had our carpenter business but so thankful we are retired now.

Better get moving here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyone from the very
hot but not so humid, rocky coast
of Maine.

I have had the AC on all night and
it seems to be working great.   I hope
that my AC makes it through this Summer
as I spent my saved "AC money" and
bought me a new laptop Computer...

I may have to go down and spend some time
with my sister in law as she is in
the hospital now with an adrenal gland tumor
(very rare) and will be in the hospital
for a couple of week until they
can operate.  Otherwise she is a
very healthy 82 year old.  So we are
all hoping for the very best.

I might go down and spend some time
with her while she is recuperating.
As she should not be alone when she
gets home from the hospital.

I am able to be there for her and
call  911 if the need be and generally
help her out  inside her home.

So I want a good computer to take
with me. So a brand spanky new
one is on order.

I am watching the British Open and
loving it.    So it is going to be
a good indoor cool day for me
here in Portland Maine.

Good morning everyone. Already 85°, going to be worse than yesterday and that was too hot for me. I ended up finally sleeping on the couch during the night. With the heat index will be at least 110 just after noon time according the the local forecasters. If I didn't have the AC I would have had to spent the day and night down in the lobby where the AC's down there keep is nice and cool.

JANE  yes I have not been sleeping well and wake between 4- 5 often.  fell asleep about that time this morning.

AMY  I do not like the taste of Boost and the cream either. We are in for thunder storms tonight and should cool things off a bit.

PHYLLIS  you can still cook and I envy you that because about al I can cook is my morning oatmeal. Glad my CNA is a good cook.

JOY  I love shrimp but have no had it in a long time, cannot cook them anymore.

SHIRLEY  I know some of the things you cook sound so good to me.

AMY  already too hot this morning for me. I start longing for late September on the first too warm day in the spring. I had an email from Bubble last week and it has been terribly hot there and was doing a number on her.

Have a good day and try to keep cool.

Middle son walked over to fix the hallway overhead fan - we use it to draw in cooler air at night and it has been loud.

Mary Ann:  Thanks for your newsy note.  Don's family is from Duluth.  Yes, your dad made the best choice - I believe Duluth has set many coldest places at time.  Amazingly friendly people.

I have looked at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Seattle - I used to ride my bike from Queen Anne (all downhill from there) to Ballard and had to go over the bridge.  We had boats moored in the area and would take them out to Puget Sound.  Now, it wouldn't be safe to take a bike - heavy traffic.  I will try to find a web cam for the locks.  Don's sister lived north of Duluth in Silver Bay for many years as her husband worked at a Taconite plant - then, he was transferred to Houston.  What a shock to the family.  My favorite story of them is when his sister heard a noise at the door, thinking her husband was arriving (late at night), it was a big bear looking right at her through the window.  Luckily, the bear backed away.

Carol, you've probably seen it, but in the Duluth sites is one of the Sister Bay marina and the location is one of the prettiest I've seen.  The whole area looks to be much nicer than the marina where Norm kept his boat for several years.  I'm very partial to MN, WI and MI because I have (or had) relatives from those states.  I really believe every state has its scenic highlight if we can only recognize it.

I did not see enough of Washington State myself  but I have seen pictures so I know it is a beautiful state.  Jim's sister lived in Sooke, BC until last year when she moved to Victoria after her husband died.

Knowing I was going to be near the Pacific and I had never seen the Pacific, on my first visit to Sooke, they took us to the Juan del Fugo Bay (too lazy to look it up).  Jim's BIL told me that was as close as I was going to get to see the Pacific, that we were many miles from the Pacific.  I finally saw the Pacific, but that was five years ago when I was in CA for the first time in my life.

I saw them all, too, LLOYD!

I'm just stopping by to wait out my pill so I can go right to sleep when I go to bed.  Tomorrow will be a busy day....work 9-1 then (maybe) get my hair cut, then out to dinner tomorrow evening with former employees of Pennsylvania House Furniture.  We do it several times a year and tomorrow is the day.

Kept busy today but came home from Church and my after church errands, sweating profusely.  Stayed in as much as I could the rest of the day and prepared the stuff to make chili sauce to can, probably Wednesday afternoon.  It's supposed to be much cooler tomorrow and Tuesday...only in the mid 70s.  That's my kind of summer!

Now I'm off to Dreamland.  I wish you all a peaceful rest and a happy tomorrow and cooler weather!  And may God bless us, every one!

GOOD NIGHT JANE.....sleep well and I hope your shift goes well for you tomorrow.

We were quite a bit cooler here today, especially this afternoon when it clouded over.  Tonight we are having all kinds of weather warnings including flooding.  It has not rained that much here but we have had a lot of thunder and lightening.

Grandson Warner arrived safely and we picked him up from his other grandparents.  We managed to get most of our clothes packed so will not have that much to do tomorrow.  We have to get our granddaughter to dance at 1 PM and pick her up at 4:30.  We are ALL on edge as we wait to hear about Michele's scan....so hopefully the tumor has shrunk .....that will be the best new ever IF it has....

We have to be up early tomorrow so we can get checked in on Southwest Airline for our 6 AM flight on Tuesday 🤣🤣😩😩. Tuesday will be a very, very early get up!  What was I thinking?😱🤯🤯🤯

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone. Wow down to  73° this morning. Looks like maybe I can go outside this morning for a change. Will feel so good. After 3 days of being inside I was beginning to feel like I was in jail.

CAROL  if I looked out a window and saw a bear looking at me I think I would either scream my heart out or faint away. In this are of the New England states black bears have been showing up. First it was deer, seeing one was something to talk about but now they are hunted. Then came a stray coyote and now there are too many of them. Now the black bears are coming down from the northern states. then sharks are showing up in the ocean up here. It is said the Atlantic is warming up so the sharks are coming north. I would be afraid to go swimming in the ocean these days.  Those sharks come close to the shore.

MARY ANN  I did get to see the Pacific, even got my feet wet in it the first time my daughter and SIL took me there when I visited them in San Diego.

LLOYD  saw your test post so you had the internet.

JANE  you, Shirley and me all like it no higher than the mid 70's. I have already shut off the AC and opened a window to let some refreshing air in. According to the guessers we are in for thunderstorms starting at 2 PM and they will be around for 1 hours. If that happens will be no Skype with my daughter late afternoon. I shut off everything when there is a Tstorm around.

JENNY  what were you thinking getting a flight that early? You wanted to spend as much daylight time with your Boston family as possible? Have a safe flight and hope we do not get another heatwave while you are here in thee area.

Have a good day.

Gloria, enjoy your time outside. I also shut down the computer when there is a storm .My sewing machine I unplug after I use it.......can't have either one frying!

Jane, have a line full of smiling folks today. Your home is going to smell so nice with chili cooking!! How do you like your new stove?

Jenny, have a safe flight, enjoy your grandson's visit. Prayers for Michele that they find no tumor!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  WOW! this is my kind of weather!  Right now it's 72º and heading for a high of 75!

I'll be off to Wally World at 9!  Thanks for the good wishes for my line.  This weather should do something for people's moods.  I'm also awaiting a call from the vet about Annie's tests on Friday. I hope all's well and she will be able to have done what needs to be done.

We had a little rain over night and more is predicted for today.  It's supposed to start around 11 and last most of the rest of the day and part of the night.  Poor Mickie had a bad time for a bit last night.  She must have heard the thunder way off in the distance because she was shaking.  I sat up and held her tight for a while until the thunder moved off in the distance and then we all went back to sleep.  I hope today's rain is just rain and no thunder.  They are both afraid of it.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend...especially the cooler temps.  Do what you feel like doing.  The day is yours!

Good morning!  I'm happy that the cooler air has reached you up there in PA, Jane.  We have one more hot day to get through and then cooler tomorrow.  Can't wait.

I've done very little except hibernate for the past several days.  Yesterday I needed something to eat that wouldn't bother my touchy stomach so found a recipe for Egg Custard in the IP.  I used one that was so simple and quick and came out beautiful.  Took me about 5 minutes to mix it up,  time for pressure to build was about 8 min, then 7 minutes actual cooking and with Instant Release the custard was ready in about 15-20 minutes.  It was light and perfect and just what I needed.  If you would like to try it here is the link to the recipe:    https://www.idonthavetimeforthat.com/instant-pot-custard/

I haven't made custard in years because I didn't want to mess around with heating oven, setting up a hot water bath, and baking for an hour.  This is going to be a "go-to" recipe for me from now on.  David liked it, too, because it was light, not too sweet, and perfect for a dessert on a very hot day when you don't feel like eating very much.

Hope it is a cooler day for all of us.

Good morning to all!!! Had a fractured night of sleep myself... thinking & cats the problem. Went to bed about 11:00 (waited for dryer to stop so I could fold towels)... woke up at 12:30 hungry & thinking so gave up & came to the kitchen for a hard boiled egg & piece of jelly toast & cup of coffee (I told you it works in reverse for me, puts me to sleep). Opened the door after checking temps so up popped Tiger. She thought it meant breakfast time. She was wired & couldn't settle down so I put her out & she cried at the door to come back in. Same story so out again & this time Tom wanted to come in. After a snack of dry cat food he went back out & I finally got to sleep for an hour, maybe.

I am not ready for prime time today but it will hit full force soon. Andy said he would be over to check out the damage to that valve that blew yesterday, the shut off between the pool & sprinkler system. Afraid it is a major repair & I don't know anyone that can fix it but him. Cas made that system up himself & think the plastic pipe just had too much sun & got brittle. Poor Andy, I will pay him good for this but he doesn't need the money, it's time he is short on!  He doesn't want me to leave this house partly because his little camper is stored in my extra garage & he'd have to find another home, he doesn't want his toys sitting out in the sun & few rental places are enclosed. In KS wind the over head shelter is worthless, hail, rain & sun just comes in from the sides.

Will need to call early to talk to the man that can install a new roof on the RV & know he will have to have it driven to inspect to see what parts must be ordered. Before they can work on it I have to empty all those cabinets that touch the ceiling & store it at the house until they are finished. That will be a sweaty job... & will need to sort other items that I wouldn't want sitting unlocked in a storage area, so basically taking everything out. I'm having a panic attack with that thought.

The roofer for the house will have to come pull out a shingle in the back to send off to be analyzed so will have to have time out for that. I may suggest he just take one off the front & not worry about looks, different type in until they can do the whole roof. Would be a lot less trouble than dragging a tall ladder around back. Does sound like I need a 48 hour day because I know my eyes are already begging for a nap.

Do hope life settles down for all, what happened to sitting in a rocking chair when we get old?????  Glad to see Every Friend checking in this morning... a little prayer for you, Larry, if you read the posts this morning. You are not forgotten.

Got to thinking about that bear at the door.... I do believe I'd be thrilled 'cause I'd know I was in Colorado & not Kansas! I would hide out though..... I know where to hide during a tornado, where would you hide from a bear?

Oops, you slipped in, Phyllis. That does sound good. The custard my mother made took lots of egg yolks & cooked over a double boiler. I tried but failed miserably to make it but something lacking in the recipe I had. I did shred a bag of little carrots to put in lemon jelly for someone. I love it but raw carrots do not please my tummy, even shredded. Seems everyone is on a diet & health kick & that's one sweet that most should be happy with. I ate one spoonfull...

Hope Annie's test come back "the best possible", Jane... and that reminds me... Sandy, I read up about the tumor your sister is dealing with, it rang a bell because I wasn't sure what the doctor meant when she told me to "not stop taking the prednisone for the brown spider bite... because I might bleed into the adrenal glands". At that time no computers to look up anything, I didn't even know where they are in the body. Best to your sister & expect she will appreciate your help.

Lloyd, you are showing up at my house!  I had a terrible time with phones & internet yesterday, calls dropped over & over & one of those days everyone called & we'd call back several times to finish a sentence. Hope the flooding didn't hit too hard at your house.

I am back home!  I went away since the 18th: I had invited my daughter to a vacation/stay in a kibbutz in Galilee. It's called Lohamei Ha-ghetaot and was founded by the survivors  who spent WWII fighting the Nazis in the Warsaw Ghetto. There is a  museum bearing witness to incredible bravery: from daredevil escapes plotted in sewers to spiritual resistance through the clandestine cultivation of Jewish education and culture.

BUt it was soooo hot! I came back tired and sweaty and will need two or three days to recuperate!

I was sorry to read the post about Larry but hope that soon he will have better days and we will be able to read his optimistic day reports. Hello Larry!

Happy to see you back, Bubble & hope you could take photos (signs at the Alamo to NOT take photos inside). I would absolutely love to visit the places you talk about. So much history we only read about. I was only 10 when the war was over but from 6 to 10 it controlled our lives, knowing that my brothers would be enlisting. The oldest did not wait until graduation from high school but told Mother that "she could sign for him or he would go to KC & lie about his age". She signed, he was the one in the German POW camp the last 9 month of the war. I think my other brother said it was their 13th mission... he went into the Navy after graduation. Not sure how long training was for the oldest, he was a navigator, I think. We were all very patriotic those days. The heat really drains me, too.

Lloyd, I've had quite a few of those bumps on the head where I saw stars as I lay on the concrete. We would roller skate to school & I'd skate backwards to talk to someone, hit a stick on the sidewalk or crack & fly into the air & land flat on my back & head. Not too lady-like.  ;D  When we were building a house I got on the roof to cover vent pipes & wind blew the ladder over so I had to find a place to jump off. Sand pile in front but had a metal strip planted in the highest point (thanks to the kids the day before), pouring down rain & those shake shingles were slick as ice in the rain. I gave my body a fling out to the sand pile & a roll to the side... sand stuck to me like glue & my 3 year old little boy stood at the door & said, "you are dirty, Mommy".... I was spitting out sand but not hurt. I bounce pretty good yet.

Son came over & put a cap on the broken valve but it is too windy to run the sprinklers now. The guy I need to talk to about the RV roof has not called back yet but bet he will if I try to get a nap!  Maybe eat again.

Welcome back Bubble!!

We had a busy mixed up day but a good one. I did get some gardening done then hubby wanted it replace the kitchen taps   so that job is now complete.

Phyliss, thank you!!!! I made the custard and oh my did it bring back memories of the time I worked on a farm. The lady there made awesome baked custard and this was just as good!! I did cook it a little longer as it was rather wiggly at 7 min This recipe has gone in my IP binder....again thank you!!

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

Television's perfect. You turn a few knobs, a few of those mechanical adjustments at which the higher apes are so proficient, and lean back and drain your mind of all thought. And there you are watching the bubbles in the primeval ooze.
You don't have to concentrate. You don't have to react. You don't have to remember. You don't miss your brain because you don't need it. Your heart and liver and lungs continue to function normally.
Apart from that, all is peace and quiet.
You are in the man's nirvana.
And if some poor nasty minded person comes along and says you look like a fly on a can of garbage, pay him no mind. He probably hasn't got the price of a television set.

Good morning everyone, big difference from yesterday. Rained from yesterday afternoon and still coming down. Had some loud boomers during the night, every time I fell asleep another one would wake me. We did have some blinking in the lights but so far the power has stayed on. Could hardly believe the temperature, 62°. . Now that is much better but we are in for rain all day. Maybe tomorrow, too.  After this all stops I hope a few days of around 70 and dry, then I would feel like doing something. Even the back massage I had yesterday did not help. Oh well, goes with the age.

AMY  I used to unplug everything but now I just shut every thing off. Hope you can go play in the garden today. I sure will stay inside today. I am so sweet I would melt in all the rain.
😃😊😁

JANE  I feel so bad for the dogs that are afraid of thunder and fireworks. They just don't understand that noise.

PHYLLIS  hope you get some relief from the hot weather soon. I always disliked hot summer days and the older I get the more it bothers me. I would never be able to live where my daughter does now. Since my traveling days are over I will never see where they are in the Arizona mountains or high desert, what ever you want to call it. Beautiful views and off the grid, nice and quiet, not many cars driving by and never speeding. As is said of some places-a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

LLOYD  glad you have the land line to call your provider so you can get back here with us. Miss you. Behave and no accidents either, Want you to come and chat with us very soon.

SHIRLEY  is it the time for you to downsize to a smaller home? Now if you were rich you could hire a maid to do all that work you do and a handyman for all that outside work that always needs to be done. Ah yes we can all keep on dreaming, right? Doesn't cost anything.

BUBBLE  that museum sounds like a place i would like to visit. There is so much to learn about the past in all museums but so many think they are dreary places of old stuff. Hope it starts cooling off there and you get some rest.

SHIRLEY  with some of the things you have done it is wonder y ou are still with us. Maybe the Man Upstairs is waiting to see what you get into next.

LLOYD  another  fall and hit your head, what are we going to do with you? Better stop rushing into things, move slower and check the area before you take a step.

BUBBLE  great thought for the day. Yep sit and watch the TV like a bump on a log and do or learn nothing.

LARRY  hope you are doing better today. We all miss you.

Just hear local weather, rain is coming down 1 to 2 inches an hour. Will have some road flooding. Think I should call and tell my CNA to cancel coming today.
Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I hope your day is a good one today.

I was so tired yesterday that I didn't even stop in the office on my way to bed.  We had rain all day.  Just as I stepped out the door to go to work it started to pour.  I went back and got my umbrella and I needed it it!  We had rain all day except for the few times the dogs decided to go out.  For some reason, it stopped at those times.

This morning I feel somewhat better.  I not only watched some TV though my eyelids, I went to bed early and slept pretty well.  We were up around 6 and went out, came in and the doggie got their pill and we waited it out.  And now, here we are!

I have a chiropractor appt today at 12;30 and it's about 45 minutes away.  I have the perfect day for driving.  It's supposed to be cloudy all day.  My favorite if I have to drive.  On the way back, I come right by the Amish store so I'll make a quick stop.  Then tonight, my daughter and I will go to the FREE Alfred Hitchcock movie.  It's PSYCHO this week.  That's the one with Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh.

My prayers continue for all who need them...especially you, LLOYD.  And also especially for LARRY and PAT!

I hope today brings you the answer to your favorite wish and that all your dreams come true!

Amy, I'm pleased that you liked the Egg Custard as much as I did.  It is going to be a favorite of mine from now on.

Gloria, the rain you are having sounds wonderful to me.  We had a little rain last night.  Not as much as we need but we'll take what we can get with gratitude.  It is cooler today and I'm very happy about that.

Lloyd, I've never known anyone who is as accident prone as you are.   :(  Please try to be more careful.

Bubble, Raymond Chandler's quote is even more true today than it was years ago.  I always loved his mysteries and some of them were made into wonderful movies.  Double Indemnity,  The Big Sleep, Strangers on a Train, Blue Dahlia were all great movies with wonderful casts.  Unfortunately, not only is TV terrible now but good movies aren't made anymore either.   Thank goodness, I can still read and I have some good sources for old good books on-line.  Without that I think I would just give up.

No plans today except the normal household chores.

Take care, All.

Good morning.

I didn't make it in here yesterday.  It was a day that just went  by too fast.  I did get my hair done and that was about all I did.  And, before I knew it, the day was gone.

We had a really bad storm yesterday afternoon.  Lots of Tornado warnings all around me.  Many trees were down, but I don't think any tornados touched down.  This morning there are lots of delays with some roads closed because of the downed trees.  And, the temperature at 9 was only in the mid 60's.   BIG change from the past week of over 100 º.

I read all the messages

Lloyd, sorry you had another mishap.  We need to put "bubble wrap" around you. LOL

Bubble, your little vacation sounded so nice. Glad you got to go, but sorry about the hot weather.

Phyllis,  your custard sounds good.  I have saved the recipe as it sounds like it would be easy.  If I ever get around to using the IP.

I was hoping to see a message from Larry today.  I do hope he is feeling rested and will look forward to his posting again soon.

Good morning to Gloria, Jane, Amy, Shirley, and all the other early morning visitors.

I am wondering if Jenny will have to re-arrange her travel plans to BOston this morning, as all of that area are having  lots of flight delays due to the bad weather on the east coast. Looks pretty bad where she was headed to this morning,

I hope everyone will have a good day.  I have a doctor's appt. this afternoon, so I need to get myself moving a little faster to get a few chores done before I have to get ready.  I am feeling better, but still not just right yet.  I hope my primary care doctor will be able to offer me some help.  I don't have an appointment with the urologist until next week.

Hope everyone will have a good day.

Just got home from delivering the elephant to the RV place to get the new roof put on. Hope it goes as easy as they tell me. Sounds impossible because they have to take off all the vents, antenna, AC & whatever else is up there & get it all back & working. I really was disgusted with myself because I trusted Google Maps & they sure were not up to date where the RV place is! Finally gave up after the 2nd re-run of that stretch of highway & pulled over & called. I thought I was miles away & the guy that answered the phone laughed & said I was just across the highway from their shop! All's well & I hardly recognized my house without the elephant in the driveway!

Mowers come this afternoon & they will spray the grass that grows in the concrete sidewalk & driveway plus the brick patio in the back. I've been weed whipping because it's too tough to pull. My fingers try to lock up & after a neighbor said her husband had to have his unlocked with surgery... not for me! Anyway, will try to protect the cats from walking on it until it's dry.

I had less that 3 hours sleep Sunday night & 5 hours (maybe) last night so am hoping to find a chance to nap today. In fact, could be time before the mowers come (I have to unlock gates, etc. for them). Shame to waste this cool day but the brain is crying for sleep.

Lloyd, sorry you didn't see the step sign... You've got to have a talk with yourself & insist that what ever you are doing  that is ALL you think about instead of having your mind ahead of your body. Every time I do that I get into trouble & it is because I am thinking about something else instead of what my hands or feet are doing right then!  Slow down!

Love reading about what the IP can do but am going to NOT get another thing to cook with. That custard does sound good...

Jane, I do remember that movie & think I had my eyes closed half the time. Don't think my heart could handle it these days! Enjoy... and hope the chiropractor helps. I haven't been to one in years... last few only cracked bones & wanted to take X-rays... didn't help. I do belive they are worth while when they really "adjust". Any word about the pup's tests?

Gloria, maybe "the man upstairs" isn't ready for this natural disaster!   :crazy2:  Seriously, if I downsized from this house it would cost more than I spend to live here... and I would have to have the cats put to sleep. Can't hire anyone to do any work when they get more to sit & let US pay them for doing nothing!  My kids know how to work but my gr-kids don't.. they piddle as they work, or talk.... even their parents admit their kids don't know how to "just dig in & do it".

Better have a bite to eat & nap. Have a great day, stay safe, Every Friend.

I never got my appointment with the chiropractor.  She was having an attack of vertigo and spending more time in the bathroom than in the examining room.  So I get rescheduled.  I understand her predicament because I have occasional attacks of vertigo.  It's not fun!

SHIRLEY, I travel some to go to this chiropractor because she's not the bone cracking kind.  She's called and APPLIED KINESIOLOGIST (I think I spelled that rght.) and everything she does is by touch only.  Look it up and I'd bet there's one or more in your city.  I trust her touch and I found her because my daughter Christy used to work for her.

The verdict on the dog is not to do the surgery.  It turns out that it's something that is peculiar to Scottish Terriers and, while she might consider removing the lump if Annie was younger, she thinks that, since it doesn't seem to be actually hurting her, we shouldn't put her through the trauma o surgery a her advanced age.  I'm in favor to this because it's what I would do for myself unde the same circumstances.  The Vet has put some time and study into this.  She said that she seemed to remember that there was something like this in Scotties and she looked it up and studied it.  She has sent some info that she found so I can read it for myself and if I don't understand some of it she'll be happy to meet with me to explain it.  Now there's a vet to trust!

PHYLLIS, I LOVE custard and I'm going to try yours in my IP.  But I have to make and can chili sauce this week so it probably won't be until Saturday or Sunday.  I'll let you know the results.  I cooked some string beans Sunday and they were excellent.  The were the leftover that didn't fit the jars.

Gotta go.  Cathy's picking me up at 6 for the movie.  Enjoy your evening!

Good morning everyone. Wow a whole 62° this morning, love it. Window open last night and I think I was asleep by 8:30 or a few minutes after that. The rain eased up by noon but rained till about 6 last evening. I had to grab my warm robe when I got up, felt chilly after all the heat we had.

JANE  looks like a real Hitchcock thriller you saw last night. I remember that one. Too bad Anthony Perkins never made many good movies after that one, he was so good in it. I was wondering if a chiropractor would help my back, asked the doctor on my last visit but she didn't think much of the idea. I had PT before and my back was worse after that. Of course with me it is always transportation I have to worry about.

PHYLLIS  this time the rain and winds  were more along the shore than here. Out on Cape Cod there was a tornado. On the news they showed the roof on a motel lift up and blew away. They showed a view of it with the roof off and you could see every thing inside the rooms, weird to see. My daughter said they had a bit of rain where they are in Arizona. Another place where it is welcome. Like you I love to read more than watch TV. Of course I look up OLD movies on YouTube and can enjoy some of the old musicals that were popular in the 1940's.

JOY  we are down in the 60's this morning and it feels great. Not too windy here yesterday but it sure poured.

SHIRLEY  I had one finger that locked up and really was getting to me but when I had the second carpal tunnel surgery I told the doctor about it and he fixed that at the same time. No problems since then. I was awake the whole time and I liked that better than being sedated. I have 4 grandsons that know how to work and on days off they are always doing something at home. 2 granddaughters on will work but keeps changing jobs and the younger one works only part time and always tired, like her mother.

JANE  you have a good vet, not looking to get rich performing a surgery that will not do much good.

LLOYD  hope you slept good and restful last night. Remember, take it slow and watch where you are walking and what you are doing. You had your share of accidents and more. No more for you.

AMY  did I get here before you? 🤷‍♂️

Good morning everyone.

Yes, Gloria you did1!. We had a fantastic day yesterday. Met my friend in town then off we went. First stop was the cheese factory, then a road side Mennonite market. Then we back road it through the farming community. Next stop was the fabric store where we spent a lot of time gleaning fabric for our next projects and we certainly make our credit  cards cry. Cross the street to the bakery where we bought a few things. By this time we were really hungry so on our way home we stopped for a lunch of fish and chips ! I had warned my friend that they serve you huge pieces  of fish but she said she could eat it and ordered two pieces . The look on her face was priceless when the buried plate of fish and chips was no where to be seen!! She ended up taking the second piece of fish home with her.  We had a great time ,lots of laughs on the way.

Today hubby gets to go, we are off to the city .Habitat for Humanity phoned and said the have a treadle sewing machine in minus the treadle part which is fine as I have that.

Better get dressed ,someone is getting anxious. :)

Enjoy your day eve4yone.

Lloyd.......STAY SAFE!!

Well, I woke up at 3:00 am but waited until 4:00 to get up, busy day ahead. I invited Callie in for early breakfast, Tom & Tiger no where around. By the time she finished eating my egg & bacon crumbles was ready so popped the toast in & heated a cup of yesterday's coffee & Tom showed up. He ate & went back out  with Callie, but still no Tiger.  The slider is open & I am listening to a car/police chase, must be on the by-pass around the city, sirens getting fainter.

Can't decide if I will go back to bed, trim my hair & take a shower or just get dressed & wait for the roofer to show up to pluck that shingle off the roof to send to the place that will analyze it (to prove what was put on in 2006).  Andy is to show up this afternoon to replace that valve that broke & he capped until he could find the part. The pool needs more water but since the pump would not stay running yesterday when I turned it on, not sure what else is wrong. I will see if it is time to replace that whole pump, the motor is separate so maybe won't have to replace that. I have a pool man that could do the job but will see if Andy would rather... I pay him whatever the pool man would charge except he won't double the price of parts like the pool man. I don't mind paying fair labor but think it is a scam to double what parts cost when I can buy them for same price as the pool guy (only he doesn't pay tax but charges tax). Gloria, it really is the "toys" that cost most... who needs a swimming pool, RV ??? I could get rid of the RV but pool comes with the house.  ::)

Tiger showed up & has eaten her salmon & tuna. Will just get me dressed, think the roofer may come early so won't go back to bed, must have gotten at least 3 hours sleep last night.  :o   Good morning to the early birds.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  i sort of slept in this morning.  I forgot that the "boinger" was set for an hour and 50 minutes for something else and I just hit the button this morning when the dogs had their pill.  They let me know that it was Waaaaay past time for their breakfast!

SHIRLEY, were you interested in finding out about the "non bone cracking" chiropractor?  I have to admit that I was skeptical at first but I felt so much better after my first visit with her that I lost my skepticism in a hurry.

I'm hoping to get the chili cooked and canned today.  I've got everything set out that can be out and the the real fixins in the fridge ready to go.  I decided to put it in smaller jars because then I can open one for me or give one to a friend and if I need more for a recipe, I can always open 2.

AMY, sounds like you had a lovely day with your friend yesterday.  You need more of those days!  I hope your trip today with hubby is fun, too.

"Psycho" was so good last night and I found that I'd forgotten some things...like that hunk, John Gavin, was in it.  He's so cute!  But what I really cherish is time with my daughter!

I have to get moving now.  Today is a Wally World day and if my fav haircutter is there, I might stay to get a haircut.  It's past time!  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!  It's yours to make of it whatever you want!

JaneS - Glad you enjoyed "Psycho" last night.  I'm in agreement with you on John Gavin . . . very easy on the eyes!  He was also in a good musical comedy with Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, called, "Thoroughly Modern Millie".  Be sure to watch it if you get a chance.  John Gavin passed away last year . . . he was 86.

I remember him in the movie with Susan Hayward, I think... it was Back Street.... thought it was very good. Yes, he was a hunk!

Jane, I am interested that there is a name for "the other kind of chiropractor", not for now but the future. I will keep a note about the name to see if any such person is around here. I do believe in the good they do! Thanks.

Amy, your day sounds like fun medicine to me. Hard to find someone to play with anymore.  :(

The trees are absolutely still right now so maybe I should turn the sprinklers on again. Gave each zone 40 min this morning but the grass doesn't look any perkier.... Need to call the mower because if he sprayed for the weeds/grass growing in the concrete sidewalk & driveway, it ain't dead today! He may have forgotten to spray, but I paid him the extra to do it.  :-\

I had a line full of pleasant customers today...and one very fussy lady.  Nothing I did suited her, not even the fact that I never lost my smile for ALL her fussing.  But I go the last laugh.  Her credit card didn't work and she had to root out the cash to pay...complaining all the time that her bank is always screwing her up.  I wonder if anything ever suits her.

MARILYNE and SHIRLEY, I've see both those movies but I wouldn't mind seeing them again!

I'm trying to decide if I have the energy to make the chili sauce now or should I wait until tomorrow.  I have to take my car for inspection early in the morning but they'll give me a ride home and then bring the car back when it's ready so I'd have all day tomorrow.  I think I just answered my question.

PHYLLIS and AMY, I copied the custard recipe and I'm wondering what kind of dish I need to cook it in when I use the instant pot.  And if I read the direction correctly, the dish I use sits in the metal container that came with the IP and theres water in that metal container?  Sunday is coming round.  Maybe these qustions will help JOY get moving on using her IP.  You two just seem to say "I think I'll make this in my IP" and you know immediately what instruments and dishes to get out.  I don't but I will....if y'all help me?

I didn't get my hair cut today because Paula was busy when I finished working and I didn't feel like waiting.  So, no ears today!

Guess I better get SOMETHING done if I'm not going to make the chili sauce.  I'll find something that needs doing or I'll do what I do a lot of the time....NOTHING! Wish e luck!  And Enjoy the rest of your day!

As you may have noticed, a lot of my keys are sticking.  I don't know if it's due to age or due to 7 years of Kiran eating her after school snacks (and sometimes supper) in front of the computer.  Maybe a little of both.  Anyway, I've been checking out new keyboards and maybe someday......

Bedtime in Kansas but I still need to trim my hair & take a shower. Cats had their "midnight snack"... are happily sitting around the pool watching the wildlife that I can't see. I have to hit the floor running in the morning. A whole list of to dos before picking up the RV "any time after 1:00 pm".  They had to replace the whole roof, including the wood under the rubber layer, so glad they seem to be so thorough. Don't know what kind of warranty comes with it but sitting out in hail is a risk, no matter what the warranty is.

Jane, hope you find what you want for the computer..... I am so happy with this $250. laptop I bought at Walmart in Salida, CO either last year or year before.... would not have even considered if it hadn't been marked down so much & Andy was so impressed with it & the price. My old ones are hopeless... must be at least 10 years old, started out being Windows XP that I gave Cas & one was Vista that he bought me 6 months later. One still has PSP on it that works "sometimes" & the other has the printer attached & neither one work fast enough to mess with except for those projects.  Cas still had a regular computer when he died, a Sony that I gave my youngest son to refurbish for his daughter. Don't think it lasted her long, she wanted a laptop. I do shop online (Amazon) & e-mail some, not like a few years ago. If it wasn't for y'all in here I would not be on as much.  My phones & internet are with Cox & it has been so bad recently I am going to have to find something else. Can't carry on a conversation without calls dropping over & over. I don't like cell phone (have an iPhone) but only turn it on when Cox phones don't work & when I travel... it is a tracfone & smart one but the driver is not so smart!  :crazy2:

Off to take care of what needs doing so I can get to bed.  Sweet dreams to all and God Bless. Shirley

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We got up waaaay early this morning.  It wasn't even light out but Annie was ready so off we went.  They had their pill and I slept until the boinger went off.  Now they've had breakfast and I have to get myself ready to greet the public.  Well, at least the public that works at the garage.  My inspection appt. is 8 a.m.

SHIRLEY, did I understand you correctly?  There was actually a period of "no wind" in Kansas?  I didn't think that every happened.  Every since my cousin was stationed in the midwest in the military MANY years ago and his wife told us about needing 31 clothespins to keep each sheets on the line, I've thought of the midwest as WINDY!

I better get moving or I won't be ready for any of the public to see me when it's time to leave the house!  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

HEY!  I think I beat AMY here this morning!

Good morning everyone..

Yes Jane you did..hugs to you this morning!!

We had a great day again yesterday, picked up the sewing machine  and it will work I think!! Just needs a thorough cleaning.  We has a tummy full at the Chinese buffet then stopped  in a wee village where Kyle gets his hair cut.

Today we are off again@ This time up to the vet..an hours drive away to get Jesse weighed. We are curious to see what his weight is at 8 months old. Tomorrow NO running the roads, I hope!

Jane I just used a little casserole dish that fit in the pot. As long as your dish fits and is oven proof you can use it. I put it in the silver basket that came with the IP and lowered it in on the water. Easy to take out also just grab the handles. Our custard is all gone ,need to make some more and it is soo easy to make.

I am sorry for not answering everyone but need to put an egg in my boot and beat it.

Take care nd enjoy your day everyone.

Jane, you're right.  Put water in the instant pot and then the little trivet and on top of that put a bowl or pan that is small enough to fit down in the pot.  I have a small (6 inch) souffle dish (an old Jewel T pattern baking dish that I found at a flea market) that is just the right size to hold the custard mix and still fits down in the pot.  I learned a lot of what dishes, and/or substitutes for those called for in the recipe, from watching You Tube.  There are dozens of videos about how to use the IP.  The only accessory that I have bought to use in the IP is a 6 in. spring form pan that I want to use for making a cheesecake or banana bread.  For everything else I look around through my collection of dishes and pans and lids and try to find something that will fit.  If it is a dish that can be used in the oven it is safe to be used in the IP.

EDIT:  Amy beat me to answering you but she said the same thing.  (Hi, Amy!)

Grocery day today so I must move along.  Please make it a good day.

Haha, Jane, that period of "no wind" lasted about 10 minutes, guess it was shifting. I do remember when it took that many clothespins to hang a sheet, it was sure hard to keep them from dragging the ground as I tried to pin them on. The wind would suck them out of my hands & flip me off the ground. My clotheslines were east-west so when a gust from Callie hit it would almost drag me to Nebraska (seriously, would I kid you?) When we built that house back in the mid-60s, that was the first dryer I ever had & used to tell people that "I'd give up anything I owned to always have a dryer". Would you believe I still have & use that dryer?  It was bought in 1967 or '68 & only had a the belt replaced about 3 times, gas & while it has 2 settings, normal & wrinkle free.... I only use the normal all the time. The wrinkle free takes longer & I don't mind ironing. I'm hoping it will hold out as long as I stay in this house... poor baby, nobody will want it... can you believe it is that '60s avacado color???

The sun is coming up, a red glow.... got a load in the dryer & it just stopped so better go fold. Cats came in & ate but I have not. Got the door open to the pool right by the computer so it feels good. Temps to go back to 90 today, but I got the pool cleaned last night & don't have that job this morning. I sprayed me with mosquito stuff but have some bites anyway.  I ironed a couple pair of knee length pants to see which is most comfy to wear today, with a white blouse hanging out. Not crazy about wearing a shirt with a collar but looks better than T-shirts & I sure don't want to wear long pants in this heat.  Winter clothes "hide the sins" better .. and I have been bad about fast food & ice cream lately. Only added a pound but it's flab & not muscle, too hot to get enough exercise to burn off all I eat. Every bite of ice cream I think of Gloria with no appetite & explain to myself that "I'm eating this for Gloria"... ;)  (She should be gaining pretty good.....)

Have a great day, everyone... Remember when we used to say, "Don't do anything I wouldn't do!"...........?

Good morning, Phyllis & Amy, love the talk about the IP but still holding out.

Peter, love the chance to visit a village much like the one we lived in (Marlow, Buckinghamshire) back in the mid '50s. I have always wished that some "news media" would go to England & visit where all the American bases were located, maybe contact some of the families that were transplanted to those locations from their homes in the US, and show us what the places look like now. Maybe show photos of what it looked like "back in the day" when GIs roamed the streets. I had a tiny, cheap instamatic camera so no really good photos from me, but I have scanned what we had and treasure each one. Glad you are feeling better and hope the move goes smoothly. Thanks for the link.  Shirley

Good morning everyone. 61° now at   8 am and yes I slept much better last night . Of course I paid for that when got out of bed. I think we have seen jokes of really old folks getting up in the mornings with all the creeks and grunts and groans, that was me.. Can no longer deny it  that is me they make fun of.

AMY  looks like you had a great time yesterday.

SHIRLEY  at times I wish I had an RV so I could travel around our beautiful country. Then again I have been a computer traveler for years now but still not the same as seeing something real and not some one else's view of it.

JANE  I would like to find a chiropractor like you have. I really do not think I could take and twisting or prodding and pushing. Hope you get that chili made today. Canning is a lot of work but so enjoyed in the winter months.

LLOYD  what is with your phone company? Not fixing your problems till next month? Crazy. Are they putting in new lines?

JANE  like you I need a new keyboard. At times I hit a key and nothing shows or it skips a space. I try to read over what I type and fix it but at times I miss something.

SHIRLEY  thanks for my morning chuckles. I have gained 2 pounds so keep on eating for me!!!!

ROLEY like with all your other travels I enjoy ed this one. Thanks for showing me the country side of England. Like that gal said beautiful brick walls and buildings. Wonderful

Have a good day.

Good morning.  Another pretty sunny morning, but still a bit chilly.  I think our temperatures are supposed to go back up near the 90's this weekend.  The mornings sure have been "cold".

I am just marking my place and saying Good Morning to all the morning friends.

I am still moving kind of slow, but I really need to clean out my fridge today. Been putting it  off for too long now. I want to be sure I get it out to the trash.

Hope everyone has a good day.

ROLEY, it was SHIRLEY that was in Marlow, not me.  I wish it had been me.  I've been to England twice and my favorite parts were the forays into the country.  London is nice but I'm a country gal at heart an I loved the country.

The Chili sauce is cooking and the kitchen smells wonderful!  It'll be another half to 3/4 of an hour before I can can it.  And I might have to make it again.  I forgot how much it cooks down.

HI JOY and GLORIA!  Everyone enjoy your day.  I'm loving the cooler weather!  But, as GLORIA mentioned, they're going back up into the low 90s through Monday and then settling into the mid to high 80s.  It was nice while it lasted.

MESSAGE FROM LARRY'S SON, SCOTT

Mary Ann,

This is Scott, Larry's son.  I believe I have written you in the recent past, but not sure.  I am going through his communications to let everyone know his status.

Unfortunately his status has not improved and in some ways is worsening. I know he would not want anyone worrying about him so I though I'd drop you a line so you might post something on his behalf.

At this point I do not know when he will be able to return to his online presence. The sooner the better.

If he helps me remember, as he did yesterday, I will keep you updated on his condition.

Thank you,
Scott

First, I just heard on our local news:  a woman in the area from another country wants our USA flag taken down because it bothers her - apparently, it is a sign of bigotry and she wants it replaced by....... the Mexican flag.

I have seen a lot of this - we see the Mexican flag flown in Arizona often - this is so wrong.Bet they cannot do this in other countries.

Bubble:  Have a wonderful visit at the kibbutz!  It sounds so great to still have those places we have read about for years.

Lloyd:  Do you think you need to slow down?  Hoping you mend quickly.

Jenny:  We have not see you two on your deck in ages - I always look and want to honk the horn.  Enjoy your trip!

Gloria:  Shark - reminds me of watching Jaws at the theater and someone fainted and had to be carried out.  You need a back rub - take care.

Phyllis: Thanks for the new site.  I put a small roast in the iPot last night along with carrots and a sweet potato sliced in half.  Covered with beef broth and it is enough for 3 meals at least all for $5.  Very tender meat - it wasn't a recipe, it just seemed to work.  Next, now to try your new recipe.

Shirley:  I can't read my note to you - hoping you get another break from the wind.  Wind hits here every afternoon and it is enough to push us indoors.

Back from the vet...this pup weighs 73 lbs and he is still growing!!

Mary Ann, thank you for posting this...sad news but will pray for a miracle..

Phyliss, today is going to be a yogurt day.  I prefer when it is made in the IP as we don't add sugar to it.

Shirley, you know you wanna IP... :2funny:
I can understand when you do have a lot of other cooking pots/pans....but they are awesome :)

Joy, great to see you. Wish it was cold here. It has been not too bad with less humidity but the temp is going back up along with humidity coming also.

Roley, thank you. Will watch later when I have my cuppa tea.

Gloria, great that you had a good nights rest. Shame that one has to pay for it in aches and pains though. That was the 6th time since 2016 that I have been away for any length of time on my own so yes, we did have fun!

Roley:   Don had many business trips overseas and I was able to come along a few times.  It was such a treat to visit London and really fun to see the smaller towns.  We found our English "cousins by history" to be kind and courteous.  The office was in Brighton so we stayed in a good spot for venturing out on quick little trips.  Always such interesting backgrounds to the history.

Thank you,
Scott

Thank You so very much Scott
for letting us know how your Dad
is doing.  I know that he would
love to post if he could.

Best wishes to you all..
I miss Larry's posts,  but
appreciate you stepping in
and letting us know how
he is doing.
Sandy

Thank  you Mary Ann for
sending usthis message.

Carol, the woman requesting the removal of the US flag reminded me of a recent post or news (I don't recall if someone posted it here or not) where a woman asked to have some policemen removed from the restaurant because they made her feel uneasy.  What on earth is going on in this country?

Tom recently bought a steamer to use in the IP and uses it for vegetables.  Asparagus was OK but not like I like it.  This was not the fault of the IP but by the way that Tom fixes them.  He has had good luck with other things he's fixed, especially pot roasts.  Yum!

First, thank you MARY ANN for posting the message from Scott.  I wish it was better news but all news is welcome.  I keep LARRY and PAT in my prayers and I'm sure God will do what's best for LARRY.

AMY, I saved a recipe for cheesecake.  It's one of my favorite desserts and I know I'll be making that one of these days.

In my opinion, a policeman doesn't make a person nervous unless they are doing something that is against the law.  If you are obeying the law, a policeman is just another customer.

There are 11 pints of chili sauce cooling on my counter and two small loaves of ice cream bread also cooling on the counter.  I just noticed that there are two slices off one of the breads so someone's been eating it!

I have my car back and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg.  So I'm legal for another year.

Annie is getting antsy for her supper so that's next on the agenda.  And I have to turn on some fans around the house.  It's hot in here and it's not that hot outside.  Enjoy the rest of your day!

Amy:  Try as I might, I cannot find the letter from Scott - Larry's son.  Something on this 'puter is not working today.  I can blame it on the heavy rain and wind that Jenny missed by getting out of town early.  Jenny:  Your house didn't float down the hill.  ;)

Mary Ann:  History was my favorite subject - it sure seems people are organizing to try to erase the truth of world history. That woman is "requesting" our flag removal while a week or so ago, a group tore down the USA flag and burned it then replaced it with a Mexican flag.

Mary Ann:  Do you like asparagus sauteed in a little butter?  I do.

Carol, I like my asparagus steamed (it isn't really steaming this way) in a small amount of water and with the heat turned down, I let it cook for about five minutes.  I put it on a plate and put a small amount of butter on it and eat it right away.  It's tender and tasty that way.  I think Tom does it as you suggested but it isn't tasty.  Tom gets the small asparagus which shouldn't make a difference, but it doesn't have a good consistency or taste.  Actually, Tom does well with his cooking.

At 1 pm you wrote thanking me for posting the letter from Scott then later you said you could not find it.  Did your computer lose it?  Would you like me to copy what I have and send it to you?  There was only one.

Peter, thanks for the clip about the Marlow area. We lived in a house named Highfields, on the Court end. The owner had divided the house into 3 houses, keeping one end for themselves. He divided that end into 5 flats, we had the attic flat. I think I posted a photo of it at one time. We were told it was the house where "the ex king met Wallis Simpson secretly". When we lived there the grounds were gorgeous & the houses near by were as large & beautiful as Highfields. The owner sold off the carriage house & a couple other buildings that were turned into very nice homes, I visited with one English lady that had a son a few months older than the little girl that we had in '56. (I went to England as a new bride in '54).

The house was on the road to Henley, which was 7 miles away. I looked for it on Google Earth but not sure I found the actual house, many many small houses built all over the grounds now. Some years ago a photographer that Pat Scott knew from Christian Photographers visited the area & allowed me to copy photos he took, but sadly, my skills of copying failed and I ended up with no photos at all to show my daughter that was born when we lived in that place. She was born at the base hospital in South Ruislip. One neat thing was that there was a tunnel dug behind the house that led to a church in High Wycombe where they held the "Black Masses"... the tunnel had been bombed during WWII so was sealed off, but the entrance was just behind the tower part of Highfields. That whole place is rented out, advertised online. The photos show many changes to the entrance in the back & at one time my husband located online, the various apartments/flats available for rent. I always thought we would go back someday to visit, but it did not happen.

Gloria, glad I could help you with the weight gain! Today I baked brownies with a lot of pecans & walnuts. Had a piece with ice cream while ago & gave up an inch around the middle, I'm sure. Shame, shame............ :-[

Larry, thinking of you & hope you'll feel like talking one of these days. I went to pick up the RV today, got it's new roof on but they got the wrong part for the skylight over the shower so will have to drive back over next week & they said they could fix it while I wait. I think it showed nearly 60 miles round trip when I pulled back into the driveway & nearly ALL of the driving through the orange barrels & work zones. I'm sure you are rolling your eyes if you are reading this... some day I will slow down & maybe grow up, maybe. Hope Pat is feeling better, so good that Scott is near enough to lend a hand. We all feel like he is "our son" as well.  Hugs to all of you & thanks to Scott for keeping us posted.

It is getting dark, must give the cats their midnight snack so I can go have another dish of brownie & ice cream. Would love to share.  :eat:

Oh, Amy so sad you are starving that pup!  ::)  Any idea when he will quit growing?  I think it used to be said about 2.... You may have to add onto your house at this rate!

Jane, I made a Walmart run today & came out with just a few dollars left of a $100 bill. Had to get chlorine tabs & bought some new floor mats for the RV... wasn't thinking & they really don't fit too good. They are made for a Ford truck & while this is built on a Ford chassis, that "shroud" around all the working parts between the front seats makes using regular mats impossible, or almost. Not sure they can be trimmed to fit, they are pretty thick. The ones I've been using are light weight & "scruff up" when I move my feet. The Rialta had custom made rubber mats but these are "custom made" carpet & I do get into rocky & muddy places sometimes & rather have some that could come out to be cleaned.

Nearly dark, better do what I'm gonna do. Sweet dreams to all. I am not getting enough sleep and now Fitbit won't even talk to me!  It will tell me my sleep if I sync to my cell phone but not on the computer or my wrist... it is pouting.

Here I am back again talking to myself!  I put you all to bed last night and now I'm getting you all up this morning!

I'll be off to Wally World this morning but that IP is sitting on the counter and I found a pyrex casserole that fits inside it.  It's a small one but I think it's big enough for the custard.  I'm going to try it...maybe today but for sure tomorrow.  I have all the stuff and I'm ready!

I hope you all have a good day and I hope LARRY does, too!  If anyone deserves God's attention, it's him!  But I'm sure God knows that!

It's going to be a hot one today with a high of 85!  Here goes the A/C again!  It was nice not to need it for a couple of days.

Happy Day to Everyfriend!

Good morning everyone..
Lovely day here ,didn't get the predicted rain for last night. Today is a catch up day after all my road running after we run the road into town to pay some bills. Managed to get some weeding done  last night.
I didn't get the yogurt made yesterday so today is the day!!

Jane you will love how easy it is to make the custard. Mine being in one bowl needed another 4 minutes to take the wiggle out of it. It does set up as it cools.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day..

Good morning.  I'm up but I'm not awake.  Grocery shopping yesterday wore me down and I slept too hard last night.  I don't want to wake up this morning.

I didn't use the IP yesterday because we had leftover Potato Soup that I had made in the pot a couple of days ago.  Along with the soup, we had homemade pickled cucumbers, onions, and yellow squash.  For a sweet, we had peach compote (also made in the IP).  And I didn't have to cook a thing....just reheat the soup.  It was good.  Soup is even better when it sits for a couple of days, isn't it?

Our few days of cooler temps is unfortunately over.  Supposed to be back warmer...90...today.That won't bother me since I don't plan to go out.  I MUST see if the vacuum cleaner still works and if it still remembers how to clean the floors!  ::)

So good of Scott to let us know about his dad. I still have hope that Larry will come back to talk to us.

Take care, All.

Good morning every one, finally slept good. Sure makes a difference in how I feel. Warmer to start the day, already 74°  so looks like the cool days are over for now again. Was so nice sleeping without the AC and the window open  and fresh air coming in. Looks like this will be the last nice day because the heat and humidity are coming back, another heat wave starting Monday. Imagine 2 heat waves in July this year, other years the only time we see that is in August here.

JOY  I think my daughter would not like winters here anymore after living in San Diego for 42 years and now in Arizona for the last 3 years.

JANE  the last few days have been great. Enough with heat waves already!! I would love being in your kitchen with the wonderful aroma of your chili sauce simmering away.

SCOTT  thank you for the update about Larry. We all miss him and pray for him. He has helped so many of us here in S&F and the SS.

MARY ANN  thanks for sharing Scott's message.

CAROL  I am with President Trump. I that woman wanting OUR flag taken down and flying her country's flag put up, let her go back where she came from. I think all Americans feel that way so why are some of those democrats making such a big thing of what he said and no I am not a republican, I rather be an independent voter . I did get a good back massage yesterday. My CNA knows just how much pressure to use and my back always feels so much better for most of the day after.

JANE  you have a gremlin there getting into one of your loaf of Ice cream bread?

SHIRLEY  oh I would enjoy the brownies you baked. I like nuts in them, without the huts they lack something as far as I'm concerned. I did have a dish of ice cream last night, so nice and creamy.

AMY  hope you can enjoy a day staying home. Willy Nelson's song On the Road Again has nothing on ho often you are on the road.

PHYLLIS  every time I go any place I am worn out for a few days.

HAVE A GOOD DAY.

Oh, my goodness, Peter, I had no idea the cave was that large. We were told that "it ran between that entrance behind the house named Highfields in Marlow (on the Henley Road), to High Wycombe. I will see if I can find out who opened the caves up for the public. That looked like stone lined walls in most areas, such a lot of work to build. I know it isn't a very nice subject with the "goings on" that took place, but so interesting!  Can't thank you enough, I did not know there was a name for the tunnels but I bookmarked to send the link to my kids, they've heard me tell about the story. The entrance near the house was sealed off completely so never a look inside. We were there when gasoline was still rationed (1954-57) so did not do a lot of exploring, I walked to town nearly every day because my husband needed the car (and gas) to go to the base.

The base was mostly under ground and it joined the "Wycombe Abbey" for girls. One time the base was put on alert so the Air Police patroled the outer permitter, which put them on Abbey property & Headmistress up in arms to protect her girls. My husband was in the Air Police so was interested in being able to see what was on the other side of the fence. Thank you so much for finding that link. I couldn't see quick enough when it showed the diagram of the caves, if it had been opened over to Marlow, but will watch again (and again).

Gloria, I am so angry that anyone born in America would allow someone to take down OUR flag & put one up of another country, it doesn't even come down to politics.... but pride in this "melting pot", as our teachers always described us. I am not a French American or an English American... as 23 & me tells me... but just an American. Nobody is forcing anyone to live here, the gates are open to leave. The limits of people entering were a protection so that WE would not become slaves to have to provide for the masses, that diseases were not carried across the borders and terrorists kept out. All of our ancestors came through after being checked out, supposed to be able to provide for themselves and not become a life long welfare family. Like you, I am an independent voter but not Independent as a party. I have registered both parties in order to vote in primaries, but I do have friends that are so biased they would vote their party even if it was proven the candidate had absolutely no morals and willing to "sell their soul" for their own greed.

This is not a political discussion and I am not stating MY preference for any party, just defending pride in MY country. No other country would allow people to cross their borders and "undermine" the government, none. We do care for the sick and helpless, it was called charity long ago but now it is "entitlement". Really? And we are now slaves to people that prefer not to work? Oh, my, better shut up & go eat breakfast... any wonder why I canceled cable TV?  I watch TV with antenna & get all the news channels I care to see, when they start leaning one way or the other & quit being "news", I find another channel to watch.

WELL!  After the day I put in at work and crying for tired on the way home, I read that there are others who sit on their duffs and expect to live on food stamps and then get to criticize the country that feeds them.  I agree with SHIRLEY and I see them every day and often wish I could say "Take this job and shove it!" and be done with the whole works.  But I can't so I won't and Monday Morning, I'll be back in my spot taking the EBT cards and smiling as if I mean it.  SORRY about venting on you all, One of the things I regret is not having someone close to talk to.  I don't tell my kids this stuff!  Now I'm going to go take a nap....maybe!

Jane, want to thank you for "breaking the ice"..... I was having regrets for being so vocal about my views & was going to come in & say that I would shut up from now on.  I had just had it with feeling sorry for all the people living on welfare that never put a penny in the pot along the way. My sympathy goes to the hard working Americans that paid into the system, so many working yet to have the extras so they can give to their families. But they don't feel sorry for themselves, they just go on working and smiling and giving, so politicians can rob them to buy votes from illegals. There, I've said it! Now I will shut up and if anyone wants to ban me from posting, that's okay with me!  Being politically correct is not a trait I will be proud of anymore. Shirley

Well if you two are in the wagon (Shirley and Jane) I might as well give it a push. I get so angry with others coming into our country and not liking it and want to change the rules......bottom line if you don't like it, leave and try that crap in the country you came from.
I do think it is time we all put our foot down and say no more!! Ok off the wagon. :)

Finally got the yogurt done. We had a phone call to say that a installer would be here for the new satellite dish ,we had settled on the 30th but I told him to come ahead . Now to learn the different channeling from the other one. The other one the price kept going up and up....but funny when I phoned to disconnect the man said he could lower the price.......hmm why didn't you do that when I have phoned before???

Jane, hugs....we have people like that here, don't do a lick of work yet hold their hand out for free to them money and complain it is not enough.

Not sure what tomorrow will bring they are calling again for rain which we need!

Enjoy your evening everyone..

Good morning everyone. Starting out  at 64°. Good for sleeping with the window fan instead of AC. Son called last night and said he would be here early this morning, good thing I woke early.

PETER/ROLEY  like your links from yesterday, t hat cave was interesting and so different.

SHIRLEY  maybe that woman was a Mexican and not born here. She does not appreciate the freedoms we have here. When anyone asks me what I am I always say I'm an American and that is all I say. Burns me up when they call our Social security  an entitlement. Heck we paid for it all the years we worked.

JANE  at one time they were keeping a check on one man with a big EBT card who went to BJ's-a membership huge box store and buy a lot of food and goodies and then take it in his panel truck to one of those small foreign stores and unload it there. Then raise the prices and sell it to people who don't have much to begin with and that man and store keeper were making money on money we all paid for. They both ended in jail.

LLOYD  I am waiting for local produce to come in so I can get some local tomatoes and not from a market.

AMY  I did not know that Canada was getting those foreigners come in and complain and want the customs of the country they left. I so agree with President Trump when he sad if not satisfied her go back where you came from. When they came in years ago they had to learn the language but now they expect us to learn theirs. Not me, I speak the American language and that is it. Wish we could change cable company here but Cox has a monopoly on these buildings and we are stuck.

Goodness where is everyone? Only  posts since I was here yesterday morning. Sad how few of us are here now. Oh well that's life I guess.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Gloria , I am here not bright eyed or busy tailed but here :)

Another fry day in the making with rain/storm later on today. They have been promising for rain for weeks now and not a drop here. Watered the garden last night but rain water is much better than well water.

Laundry day today, unless hubby would like to go somewhere....we shall see what he would like to do.
We are getting used to the new channels and this one we can record  shows to watch later!

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

We have the start of a warm one today.  I'm going to a funeral this morning with Dot and there will be a lunch afterward so it will be early afternoon before I am home again.  I will change to cooler clothes at that time!  I haven't reached the stage where I want to wear shorts in church, however, I have noticed some people do that.  I don't mind because I am sure God would rather have them in church than stay home.

Our sprinkling system doesn't seem to be working and I am going to get out the hose, if Tom doesn't do it, so I can use township water.  Our sprinkling system uses the pond water in our complex.

Amy, I'm not bright eyed and bushy tailed either, it is hard getting going this morning.  I don't know why.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and (sort of) attem!  I slept pretty well last night.  I had not been taking the melatonin for a few nights because I wanted to see if it really was that bringing on the sleep.  IT WAS! I took it last night and I slept better!

Today is all planned.  I don't know how the plans will work out but they're there.  First off, I'm going to make a batch of AMY's HOT MUSTARD.  I'm half way through my last jar of the last batch.  Then I'm going to make custard in my IP.  I have all the ingredients.  So far my day is "Mustard and Custard".

Does anyone remember the old "Roy Rogers Show"?  Dale Evans had a restaurant and Roy's sidekick, Pat Brady worked for her when he wasn't backing up Roy.  Pat's favorite exclamation when he got frustrated or angry was "Mustard and Custard!"  I couldn't help remembering that when I decided what I'd do today.

And as to getting dressed, I might!  And I might just stay in my jammies!  Nobody ever comes here anyway....except my daughter and she says I'm entitled to do anything I feel like doing.  She says I earned that right!  And so did all of you!

I'm off for my second cup of coffee and to get the mustard started.  I hope I have enough jars left for it.  I've made so much jam that I've used a bunch of little jars.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend.  You've earned that right to enjoy!

Not bright eyed & bushy tailed here, either! I've been up since 4:00 am, fed cats & plan to eat and go back to bed. My 3 hours sleep is not going to get me very far.  Right now I am going to turn the sprinkler system on, trees are hardly moving & the ground is bone dry. I noticed the water in the pool is moving so must be a train going through.... the tracks are a good mile away but this area is basically sand because the river has changed course so many times. I am hungry so will feed the body. The start of the week end so wishing all happy days!  Shirley

It must be contagious.  I'm not bright eyed or bushy tailed this morning either.  I was so tired last night I went to bed a little early.  I slept OK up until 2:30 and then popped wide awake.  Finally gave up and got up at 5:30.  A short night means a long day.    >:(

I had my first Instant Pot failure yesterday.  The Banana Bread was a total failure.  It didn't rise at all,  It came out of the pot a heavy, flat mess.  I think it was due to baking powder that was 'way past its expiration date.  I'll buy some more and try the bread again....sometime.

I need more coffee.  And a nap....... :sleepy:  ........talk later.

I'm on break right now and I was just going to read and not write but I find I have to write.

First, SANDY thank you for the "truism".  It's perfect.  I take it to mean "appreciate what comes, remember what went, and get on with your life".  There's more to it than that but we all have to learn to see life as it is!

PHYLLIS, one time my sister was supposed to bring a banana bread to a family gathering and it didn't come up.  She brought it anyway and announced that she'd made us all a "BANANA PANCAKE"!  She brought jelly and peanut butter and we made do!  Only my sister, Leslie could get away with that!  Maybe you can, too!

I have 5 pint jars of mustard cooling on the counter and a little bit of the leftover "eater" in the fridge.  And I still have a few little empty jars left.

Now for some lunch and a little walk with the doggies and I'll tackle the "custard" in the IP.  Wish me luck.

Oh yes, I forgot.  I had a text from my daughter and she and my SIL are coming over later so I had to get dressed.  That's OK because I have to make a quick run to the store.  I'm short 2 spices for my next project!

Hope you're all staying cool (It's 85 here) and enjoying your day!

Custard's done but it looks a little "jiggly"!  Maybe a short sojourn in the fridge will set it to an edible stage.  We'll see!

Sandy, I liked your "truism" as Jane called it.

I'm not fond of custard so I haven't tried it.  I meant to ask Tom if he liked it and if so, I'd suggest he make it.  I haven't asked him yet.

I went to a funeral this morning, with lunch afterward, and it was warm enough that I didn't not feel good when I got home, but having my a/c on has cooled things down.  I feel back to normal now.

I got my errands done...stopped at the ATM (I'm loaded now), stopped at the grocery store (got my spices and cheese (I'm ready for my next project), stopped at the Mennonite store (got fresh local sweet corn and a couple nice little zucchinis (another project lined up).  I love the summer foods!

The custard set up in the fridge.....no wiggles but lots or yums!  It's not going to take me long to demolish that one!  I hope that person that ate the icecream bread laves my custard alone.  Forgot to tell you, I threw in a handful of coconut.  Looooove coconut custard!

Turned out to be a fun day here..took the dogs to the lake and we know what Babe thinks of the water so only took the pup in. He was timid at first but then I took my sox and shoes off rolled up my pants and went in with him. I just meant to go up to my knees but he was so much fun to watch that in I went..he loved  splashing  and swam a bit.

Shirley, I have no idea of when this bundle of joy is going to stop growning...we may have to raise the roof!! :2funny:

Jane, I never thought  of putting coconut in custard..great idea thank you I shall try that next time. I did get my yogurt done and added some honey for a sweetener. We had some at noon with blueberries on top.

We like soup all year round so made beef barley soup in the IP.....didn't heat the house up and in 20 min had soup! Come winter soup will be made on the back of the wood stove but until then the IP gets it!! Could have used this when we were working all those years!

Sandy, how true that is!!

Gloria, we had put off changing but when the price seemed to fly instead of climb it was time to say good bye. We shall see how this works...so far so good.

Looks like we did get a bit of rain overnight  THat will make the garden and flowers  :)

A day of rest here .....not sure what is going to be .yet.

Jane ,I will only do corn now in the IP so easy and no carrying hot pot of water and it tastes so much better. How did your custard turn out?  Noticed flowers ready to open on the pumpkin vine....I am really excited to see the fruit of the plant!!

Enjoy your day everyone.

WOW!! This place was dead last night!  I was last in at about 6:20!  I hope you were all celebrating something!  I was sleeping off and on all evening then I went to bed early and slept very well.

I'll be off to another church visit this morning then home to do some "whatevers".  It's too hot to plan so I'll just do what I feel like doing!  You all do the same!

[/Edit:  There's AMY.. I thought I commented on the custard.  It set up fine in the fridge but someone's been eating it like crazy and it's about half gone already.  I've made myself a promise that I'll do at least one thing a week in the IP and I'm already breaking that rule because I think I'll be doing the second thing this week today.  Of course, that depends on when you count that the week begins.  If it begins on Sunday, I'll be doing my one thing for this week today.  b]

A Super Sunday to all.... Cats fed & now my turn. Better get moving, going to a hot one here but right this instant it is nice with the door open. Need to be ready to pull out of the garage in one hour so better get a move on. A cardinal is singing right outside the door, love to hear the birds.

In case some of you don't make it over to Photos, a nice pic of Pat & Paul that Beverly posted, along with the news that Paul has died. Aren't we lucky/fortunate to have been able to meet so many really great people because of the internet & this place?  Hugs to all.  Shirley

And here's the 2 early birds, Amy & Jane!  :hello:

Believe it or not !. This was once my School ! in the 1940's....
This was once a 'Common' and  used for Farming and Grazing animals, Fox Hunting, Rabbiting etc, very few trees there in my day !, the whole area has been turned into a small village community now and to buy a 'Flat/Apartment there now will cost you an ARM and a LEG !, at least !.
While there, my Dormitory was on the top floor to the left of the large window in the centre building (Our Dining Hall, in those days), the Windmill was 'Camouflaged' but, aircraft still used the 'Windmill' as a Rallying point' and German fighters would often machine gun the surrounding area, we had to Hit the Dirt many many times then !, Canadian troop's were stationed around here and we used to 'scrounge' ciggies off them, hide away in the bushes for a crafty 'Drag' (smoke) !, now, as you can see, it is all trees ! and it's history long  forgotten.  Hope you enjoy looking at my School Boy Days Memories.
                                  Cheers.  Roley

Good morning everyone, warmer this morning, 70° now and going up and the humidity with it. I watched 2 John Wayne movies yesterday, McClintock with Maureen O'Hara, still enjoy that one no matter how many times I have seen it and the other was Tall in the Saddle a b/w one with a very young John Wayne. Last night couldn't find anything on TV that interested me so went to YouTube and watched Little General with a young Shirley Temple. I think that was the only time I saw Lionel walking. His later movies he was always in a wheel chair. Dull day here yesterday. My son did come in the morning and I always enjoy his visits. In the afternoon no one was around here either out on the porch or in the lobby.

AMY  when we had our house we had a couple of old milk cans, I would have them under the drainpipes to catch rain water and use that water to water my house plants, in those days I had a lot of plants, now I only have 5. My daughter does that now when they do get rain, that or she will put her plants on the porch when it rains. They always seemed to perk up with the rainwater.

LLOYD  at 80° I get uncomfortable and when it gets higher into the 80'a I live with the AC.

MARY ANN  seems like too many years since I felt bright eyed and bush tailed.

JANE  hope you enjoyed your Mustard and Custard day yesterday and got both made and enjoyed. Every time I don't feel like getting dressed and staying in my jammies and robe don't you know someone comes. That always makes me feel lazy when that happens.

SHIRLEY  hope you got more sleep yesterday. I have done that before. Even after posting here, having breakfast, just laid on the bed and fell asleep for a few hours.

PHYLLIS  Last time I made a banana bread it was heavy, too, and I threw it away. Then looking at my sister's recipe I saw that I did not do things in the order they were supposed to be done. That never happened before. Old age making me careless?

SANDY  so true, no matter what happens life goes on. Thank you.

JANE  last night my older son called as asked if I would like some zucchini bread. I asked if my DIL made one like last year with lemon in it and he said she didn't make it HE did. He has turned into a good cook since he retired, now a baker, too. Younger son is the cook in his family and he is a good cook. Like you I love coconut custard.

LLOYD  your phone/cable service is really giving you a hard time. You pat them for service they are not giving too good right now.

ROLEY/PETER  beautiful area. How mice that you have memories of how it used to be.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning.  I am just making an appearance right now.

The sleeping pill did not work last night. I was still awake almost until 5 a.m.  Was reading and even got something to eat. Finally put the light out and did finally fall asleep.  Didn't wake up until after 8.  I wanted to get some laundry started early, but that won't happen now. It will take me a while to finally get myself motivated.

I just wanted to say Good Morning, and I will try to get back later.

Have a great Sunday.

MESSAGE ABOUT LARRY -

Larry Hanna <larryhanna99@gmail.com>
To:Mary Ann Tock
Jul 28 at 9:26 AM
This is Scott, Larry's son. It brings great sorrow to inform you that my father is very ill and is not expected to last much longer. The Hospice nurse said he should make it though the night but beyond that she could not say. I apologize for starting your day like this.  My father asked me on Wednesday to stop all visitors , except his hospice nurses and aid. I will be contacting all of my fathers contacts (quite a job indeed) when he reaches his final destination. As we all know...heaven.

A good Sunday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 🦋🦋

I am sorry to say that I have been so busy with the family that I have not been on my iPad one time since arriving in Boston. I have HOWEVER thought about you all every day and hoped that everyone is doing well.

I am very sad to read that LARRY is not doing well and may not be expected to make it through the day.  I learned this news from Larry's Son Scott.  I just arrived home from church, and had said some extra special prayer for Larry, so it really hit me hard when I read the news.  I could not help the tears from falling.  Our group is Family🦋🦋🦋

Dr. Dave arrived Friday afternoon and we all had such a wonderful time together, even though it was a short time.  He and the two Colorado grands left for Colorado at six AM this morning....and are home safely with Michele now.  We wish she could have come to Boston also, but she just does not feel well enough for that right now😢

I must go, but know that I will be back to read the posts when ever I can.

Jenny

OOOOOh! I almost wish I hadn't come in to read.  I also said prayers for LARRY and his family and like all of you, I was hoping for a miracle!  We all know that God is waiting to welcome him home.  There's no doubt in anyone's mind of that.  Our love will go with him.  And our sympathy for his family will be there, too.

JENNY, my tears are flowing, too!

Like the rest of you, Larry & family in my prayers this morning, only I asked God to give him peace, no recommendations because I know God knows best.... just that Larry had peace of mind. I am sure he has not liked being helpless.  It truly is a sad day for all of us, hearing about Paul brings Pat close to mind. A day for remembering. Thank you, Mary Ann, for sharing the news. My prayers & thoughts continue for all of them.

Peter, I did enjoy watching the link you posted of your childhood. During the war we were reminded all the time about how "the children in England, France & other countries" were having to hide from bombs. My brother flew out of England on his missions over Germany. I don't know which base but my brother that was in the Navy knows. Have you ever written down what "one day of life during WWII" was for you?  Food was rationed, leather/shoes rationed, sugar & other foods here in the US. When we lived in England in 1954 (Dec) to '57, coal was rationed as well as "petrol" /gasoline, and it went sky high during the Suez Crisis. Anyway, thanks for the link, you've brought back memories of those days from MY view as well.

Well,  like a bad penny, I am showing up this afternoon.

I was able to get 3 loads of laundry done and I had the whole laundry room to myself. That was nice. Everything is folded and in piles to be put in the drawers or closet.

I had just read the same message over in the "Bait Shop" before coming here.  And, I am just so sad.  However, hope he is free from pain and comfortable.  He is truly a very strong and courageous Christian gentleman and he will be sorely missed. I think we all should feel grateful just to have called him a friend.

It is a pretty sunny afternoon, and I am sure it is quite warm.  I have not been out.

Hope everyone has had a nice day.

We will also have special memories of Larry's participation on these forums.  He will surely be missed.

If anyone plans to copy & paste all of our sympathy messages for Pat & Scott, I'd also like to thank the Hospice people that cared for him. They gave him comfort mentally and physically. He was so generous with his time this past few months, explaining every step of how to die gracefully, we owe him. Nobody has ever been as willing to share this final step. I am sad he didn't get to enjoy his "man cave" very long, but thanks to his family for being so considerate to know how important it was in helping take his mind off the little time he had left. He made a lasting impression on a lot of us and will be remembered as a special person for as long as we live. God Bless the Hanna Family. Sincerely, Shirley (in Kansas)

Shirley, this is off the top of my head, not too well thought out - yet - but if we could create a special folder where messages could be written, then we could let Scott know about it and he could go there to read them.  OR messages could be left on Larry's name (probably better as Scott is not in S&F) because Scott has been sending messages from that name.  Just an idea and no work for anyone.

I sent a message to Bubble, but it's the middle of the night for her so she probably doesn't know yet.  I think she would be the one to establish a new folder - if that's the way to go.  There could be a folder already to go, but I don't know about any.

Mary Ann,  I may be wrong but I think anyone (a/k/a "The Public) can read any of these posts.  They just can't post unless they're registered.
You might ask Tom to try accessing the Seniors & Friends web site and clicking on "Forums" to see if he can read the posts in a Folder without signing in.

Callie, I think you're right.  There is a Guest feature.  I do think if messages could all be put in the same folder, it would be easier for Scott.  He already has access to Larry's name.

The loss of a friend always is so sad and that is especially true of Larry.  He was always kind, courteous, and friendly to all of us who had the pleasure of chatting with him here in S&F.  The way he dealt with his health difficulties and end-of-life issues was truly an inspiration to me.

I fixed our entire dinner in the IP yesterday.  Pork  chops w. gravy, fresh green beans, corn on the cob and a sweet to finish the meal of applesauce made two days ago in the IP.  I was relieved that everything came out very good after my complete failure with the Banana Bread of a few days ago.

Just another normal Monday here.  Will do some laundry and try to stay cool.  The heat is coming back.  I don't want to "wish my life away" but I am more than ready for this summer to be over.

Good Morning my CHERISHED FRIENDS!  It always seems like the loss of one our friends makes the others dearer to us.  You are all cherished and loved!

I'm not going to do my Wally World thing today.  I'm calling off.  The temp outside is supposed to reach 91 today and the A/C in WM will be cranked up.  It's very difficult to get a register assignment that doesn't blow COLD air directly on some part of my head and shoulders.  And when the lines are long, you just stand there and let it hit a very vulnerable part of your body.  I've decided that I'm too old to do that and today I'm not going to do it!

I read the directions for making yogurt and it seems I need a kitchen thermometer.  I know there used to be one in this house but I haven't used it in 10+ years and I can't find it.  So I'm going to make General Tso's Chicken instead.  I'll get a new thermometer and make the yogurt on Thursday.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Jane, the saying "too old too soon, too smart too late" does not apply to you!  You are smart to stay home today.  There's no need to go out in the heat then stand in the cold at work.

It's already 75 degrees here and I agree with Phyllis, I'm ready for the heat to go.  It should be in the mid-80s all week.

Tom has been gone for the weekend and will be home early afternoon.  It's kind of nice to be alone except for the cat, but I miss someone else in the house; Tom has been with me nearly six years now.  How many people can feel free to go away for a few days and leave their 95-year-old aunt alone.  I know, if I didn't feel good, he would not leave.

Thank you, Bubble, for taking care of us. Love the photos you posted of Larry & Pat. I can imagine the days ahead for Pat and Scott, even though Larry tried so hard to help them. Death is a shock and so much to do.

Peter, I got the message and replied (only I am not sure how that works). I have been so pleased to be able to view your links lately, but sometimes my internet provider won't let me click on them and I keep trying.

We had a shower with thunder & lightning during the night. I looked out the door but cats were all under cover where ever they go. They never come in wet. All's well but it is starting out hot. Must turn on the pool pump & clean the pool again.

I turned on the sprinkler system last night when the wind died down, but the gauge kept climbing higher so I quickly turned it off, twice. Don't know what would happen but years ago when the well was in the basement a pipe burst & flooded the room next to the "work" room and parquet flooring floated up. Had just cleaned up that mess when a few weeks later the pipe on the other side of the one that broke.. split & flooded again. We had a new well put in with the pump OUTSiDE. Only problem is the controls are still in the basement & pipes with water still run from pump to controls & out back to pool area. Would they burst if the pressure gets too high? I don't know and don't want to find out the hard way! I just know that Gloria is rolling her eyes at keeping up with this house, but same excuse, I have to have the cats put to sleep if I move.  :crazy2:

Better get a move on, Amy, I also have paperwork that needs to be filed & been carrying a bill with check inside in my purse that I forgot to mail.... too many directions to go & the mind isn't willing to concentrate. Hope to clear the table with the roof on the house & RV, the problems with a house are never ending.

Mary Ann, I do understand the mixed feelings about Tom being gone. My son & his wife are in CO this week & naturally everything starts going wrong. I know he needs to get away, not only do I depend on him but everyone he knows is the same, "Call Andy when in need"........ Just knowing he is out of town makes me a little uneasy, but we will handle it, right?

My eyes are itching like fall & I am more than ready to see winter show up, Phyllis. Be nice to have a pretty fall if cool, the heat is oppressive this year. Wonder if it has anything to do with age.....

As Callie would say (if I give her a chance)... wishing all a Merry Monday.

Good morning everyone, anyone ready for a trip to Australia where it  is winter? Another heat wave here, going to feel like upper 90's what local weather guessers are saying. Another mass shooting in Gilroy, Ca. What is it with those killers like that.  Sad to hear on the news first thing in the morning.

JOY  sleeping pills never worked for me, would be awake all night. Hope you had a good day with so little sleep that you finally got.

MARY ANN  thank you for sharing Scott's message. Seems like this has happened so fast and I don't think any of us expected it this fast. I know we all will pray for him and miss him.  Better for him though not to suffer for years

JENNY  if you are still in Boston today and tomorrow stay inside as much as you can. Going to be in mid to upper 90's here. I will not head outside at all.

Nothing I can add that others have said about Larry and how he explained what he was going through till he could not do it anymore, I know of no one else who facing his going home to our Father told us how he was doing and facing that day with so much courage. He has helped most all of us who posted in S&F like he did in SN. He will be missed by so many others we will never know. I feel like a big hole is in my heart with his loss.

PHYLLIS  like you I wish if was late September when all the heat and humidity is over.

SHIRLEY  you are so right, I was thinking sell that house and move to something small.

Have a good day.

Well, Shirley, hope you got all your filing done. I didn't but still working on it. I did get all the floors washed and a few jobs outside done. We did have a rain   fast and furious but still rain. Filled my rain barrel to the top and then some.

Jane, I did this recipe for supper..

https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/easy-pork-chops-in-mushroom-gravy/

Had extra mushrooms so cut them up and put in after the meat was browned. Put the water, soup in then put some baby potatoes in then the meat and mushrooms. Was too soupy for me so put in on sauté once the pressure went down and cooked it down some. Was so good!!

Lloyd , I sure hope you get your phone and internet working.

Well. I have a pup bugging me to go play ball and he is rather adamant that it is NOW! We had a game of Frisbee but he is  ready for more..

AMY, I copied your recipe and I'll be making that!  I added your extras to the recipe sheet.

I got all my stuff filed in a notebook and separated so it's easy to find.  I didn't want to goof off on my "day off"!  I also made barbecue chicken in the IP for supper and since it was to be served over rice, I made the rice in the IP too.  I have to say, while the cookng doesn't take any time at all, the dishes and cleanup still take the same amount of time.  But I'm way ahead of my "learning schedule".  I've already made two things in the IP this week and it's only Monday!

I got a lot of odds and ends done today.  I cleaned out some shelves and rearranged in te kitchen so I can keep mymixer out and I don't have to lift it UP every time I want to use it.

Since I have some rice left over, I think I'll make some rice pudding tomorrow.  I wonder if there's a recipe for making it in the IP?

Now, I'll bid you all good night because I'm going to hit the hay early.  Tomorrow is going to be another scorcher and there's the Alfred Hitchcock movie tomorrow night.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one

Good morning everyone.

Overcast this morning, we didn't the rain/tstorm last night ..hope for rain today.
Finishing up on the jobs that didn't get done yesterday and more to do today.

Jane way to go for your use on the IP...sounds like you are mastering it!Just remember to pick up some yogurt with live bacterial culture to start your batch of yogurt. Then when you make it save 2 tablespoons of in ,freeze for the next batch and you are good to go. I save 4 containers with 2 tbsp. in them for next time.

Shirley,I so miss them all. Amazing how close one gets without even meeting in person. And what a void they leave when they are gone but not from your heart.

Guess I had better get ready to take Pa out for his morning coffee.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up but not quite "attem" yet!  The doggies have been out, had their pill and breakfast.  I had breakfast and I'm loafing!

SHIRLEY, I don't think it was "dream dust" that Joan sprinkled but I hate to say, I can't remember what it really was.  However, I think GLORIA knows and maybe she'll remind us.

I have no plans for today until the movie at 7 but I have a canteloupe in the fridge that needs to be cleaned and cut up for snacking and breakfasts.  There's also a grapefruit that won't get eaten until it's cleaned and sectioned and put in a handy container.  I've moved them to the front of the fridge to remind me.

It seems odd not expect to see LARRY'S post but I bet he's having a ball with the rest of our group!

I guess I better get movig and get myself dressed.  I totally forgot to water the plants last night and I'll have to do that before the sun moves around to that area.  I don't wany to have a couple of thirsty tomatoes out there!

I wish you all a good day.  Take it and make it your own in every way.

Jane, I know you are right, not dream dust but maybe Angel Dust?  I couldn't think of it last night & not sure that is right either. I woke up about 3:00 am & got up half an hour later when I couldn't go back to sleep. Another busy day, I'd rather be doing nothing~~  Hope to get the RV finished up but will bake a pan of brownies to take the guys that do the work. Then I will fill the gas tank back up while I still have a dollar off for 35 gallons. It may not take the whole 35 gallons but will have it ready to go to MO when ever the weather looks cool enough for an outing.

Hope to hear from the insurance about the house roof, approved for the shingles that was claimed on the contract in 2006. Really irritating that this lady pulled the power card, but many more delays & I will be "sweetly hurt" that she wouldn't take MY word or word of the roofer that put it on OR the signed contracts showing the type/quality.  I am a tough old bird and can take it but feel sorry for anyone she does this to that would have a nervous breakdown trying to cope. I do feel sorry for the roofer that had to make the extra trip to the house to remove a shingle & replace with something else, & send it off to be tested. How else could anyone take it but that she doubts our word & the paperwork?  Insulting... and want it is over soon.

Has Sandy gone to help her sister?  Don't have time to scroll back, got to move or fall asleep. Hope all is welI.

I enjoyed the walk, Peter... thanks so much. What a gorgeous field of flowers!

Guess I'd better get those brownies in the oven. No idea when they will call to say the part is in & "come on over". I would love to go back to sleep. Have a great day & hope your weather is better than in Kansas! HOT ! Hot ! HOT!  But not quite as humid as yesterday.

I'm here but don't seem to have a lot to talk about this morning.

It's going to be another hot one so I'll stay in and do some things around the house.  I have to go out tomorrow and buy a new lawnmower.  Our little electric one, that has always done such a good job, gave up a few days ago.  David looked into it and felt that the motor just quit after nearly 10 years.  We think that it would probably cost almost as much to replace the motor as it does to buy a new mower so must go to Home Depot and see what they have.  If the weather is good when we go out I might take a drive out to the farm stand and see what they have in fruit and vegs.  I would like to get some good tomatoes and green beans and whatever else that looks good.

Take care, All.

Well, y'know the saying, "some days you are the pigeon & some days the statue".... well I am the statue today & I do hope to be over this spell real fast.

My good thought of baking brownies for the guys working on my RV just caused me a lot of extra work. Have you ever spilled half a box of brownie mix all over cabinet & dark wood floors?  Sure enough, fell in the cracks of the wood & my little Shark Navigator doesn't have enough suction to pull it out so out with the big guns. The whole container on the Navigator is covered with the brown cocoa or fine flour, such a mess. I was too sleepy to be safe & knew I had to bake before going back to bed. The brownies are out of the oven, lucky for me I bought 2 different brands/boxes yesterday... I can salvage half the first box because only about half went on the floor & other stayed in the package. Hand slipped & you know how it is when trying to catch something, it goes every direction. All cleaned up now so will fall asleep until someone calls to get me moving. Fitbit says I goe exactly 3 hours sleep last night, it will talk to me on my cell but not the computer.

Phyllis, you'll probably never find another as good as that mower but so true that to fix would cost more than new. You might find someone to mow for a few weeks & by then the mowers will be on sale....usually August brings sales on yard equipment. I hate it when I buy something and it's half price the next week. Good luck.

Good morning everyone, had a hard time getting a move on this morning. I think this weather is really got to me. I feel like I am closed in, way to hot to get outside. The noise of the AC is getting to me, too. We did get a thunderstorm late afternoon yesterday but it made the air worse after. Oh well I never liked summer.

AMY  your pup sounds like my daughter's dog, seems like he always wants to play when we are on Skype.

JANE  every time someone mentions rice pudding I remember making it with my Mom's recipe and baked in the oven, so good. The bowl I used broke and I cannot find any of those old time bowls and the new shiny smooth ones just do not work.

SHIRLEY  it was Angel dust Joan sprinkled. Like you said so many have left us and when we stop and think of how many it is no wonder so few of us are left here in the SS.

LLOYD  hope the ones doing the fixing up of your internet and phone would be on the ball if you were a rich important man or politician.

AMY  we have always been like a close family here and like in all families we do lose loved ones. Sad but true.

LLOYD  will check your linc when I finish here.

JANE  right, Angel dust.

AMY  groan big time. Good one though.

LLOYD  beautiful walk in that link. Thanks.

PHYLLIS too hot here, too.

Gloria, I wrote in Norm's that it isn't the deaths that make our groups smaller but the fact we don't get new people.  We are Seniors and death is normal, but people do grow into the Senior stage and we wish they'd join us.

I just returned from having my teeth cleaned and the next time will be in November.

It is 80 degrees here now at nearly 11 am and I haven't turned on the a/c yet.  I got a bill for $97 this week and I think that is a bit much.  I've got to analyze it.  I went on the program where the company can run the fan instead of the a/c and I think the fan runs too often.  It may take effort on my part but I may listen to when the fan is on and turn off the a/c.  My summer bills are more in the $70-$80 range - small condo.

Good morning.  Such a  pretty morning, but going to be hot.

Nice to see Amy, Roley, Jane, Shirley, Lloyd, Gloria and Mary Ann already in here this morning.

Oh Shirley,  I can relate to your dropping the box of brownie mix.  I have a lot of problems with my hands, and I just seem to always be dropping things.  And, I have trouble moving around, so that makes it doubly hard to clean up.

I also am wondering if any of you have trouble opening boxes of things  Just seems like they are gluing them so tight together.  I had a hard time opening up a new box of cereal and some crackers yesterday.  I had to get out a knife to pry them open.

Mary Ann, I read what you wrote over in Norm's page and I think you are probably right.  Just  seems like it is the same ones now that are keeping the boards open.  Would be nice to see some new name pop up,  Also, I an sorry that you are not that pleased with the way your power company works in the summer.  I guess what I have is different.  There has been a lot of days in the past couple weeks that they were asking people to limit their use of A/C and other appliances during the afternoon and early evening hours and that is when they would reduce the coverage. I never did notice any difference at all.  And, my electric bill is a lot less in the summer than the winter.

Gloria, my mother had a special dish that she whipped egg whites in.  SHe always did it by hand, and had a special fork that she used also.  I can see her now just beating the heck out of those egg whites,  The meringue  on her lemon pies was always so high.  I guess with the hand beating, it did put more air into the egg whites.  It would be almost 2 inches high.

I need to get a move on. I have an appointment  with the urologist this afternoon, and hope I can get some different meds.  Seems there are several of us here with the same problems.

Hope everyone will have a pleasant day.

Joy

I am so sorry I have been negligent in posting, but our time here in Boston has been so packed full, that I just have not had the time, or honestly the energy to post. 😩 PLEASE know that I have however thought about you all many times and hoped everyone was doing well.

We enjoyed a very nice 52nd anniversary day, yesterday.  Kurt took us to my favorite local deli...my choice, then we had a nice dinner with the family.  We had calls from all of our family, but sadly my Dad forgot until very late in the evening.  He felt terrible and it really bothered me because I knew it would make him feel sad😢😩

Every day we have been in the pool.....I am looking as brown as a berry!  I slather the sun screen on and hid under my wide brim hat, but the sun is intense for sure! Of course all of the family contacted us however my Dad did not remember until very late.  I talk to him every day and told him the night before, but his mind is very bad right now.  I did not care as much for me as I did for him when he would realize he did not remember 😢😩

I did not realize Paul Halbeck has been ill.  I am sad to read of his passing.  He and Pat came to Denver to visit just after one of my surgeries and Carol and Don Shovein hosted them.  It was a treat to have them visit.

MARY ANN, I wish we could get some new blood in here to chime in.  Sadly, even the very few who have been invited have chosen not to continue.

JANE, SHIRLEY and AMY, I am sure glad you ladies have not let any grass grow under your feet in the days I have been away🤣🙀😅🤪

CAROL, it is true we have not been out on our patio as much this year.....of course, we have been in Boston a week today and we have one more week to go.  It is a super hot and humid time here right now.  It is no problem if you are in the swimming pool, when ch I certainly have been.

GLORIA, during these hot days I have just stayed in the House or I have been in the beautiful pool🦋. It really has been very nice since we have been here.  Now there are weather warnings about the intense heat🔥

I just can not get over how quickly our Larry declined.......it is just so hard to accept the fact that he is no longer with us😢🙏

I wish you all a good rest of your day.

Yep!  Angel Dust!  That's what I was thinking but I knew Gloria knew for sure because she used that expression a while back.

My day of entertainment is ended.  I saw two movies today.  My friend Mavis and I went to the FREE matinee and saw "Where the Wild Things Are".  It was OK but we decided that if they make a #2 we won't go!

Then tonight, my daughter Cathy and I saw the FREE Alfred Hitchcock movie "Vertigo"!  That was wonderful as are most of his movies.  I didn't remember the ending so it was especially good!  And Cathy took me out for Chinese for dinner before the movie!  As usual, the best part of the evening was spending time with Cathy.

And now, I'm ready for bed.  Tomorrow is a Wally World Day and I have to be ready.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

We are off to the city for RA Dr appointment. I do hope he has found a way to keep in contact as he is moving away soon and hubby is left without an RA Dr.

We did have a bit of a rain yesterday but in need of a lot more. There has been a fire ban put on,now lets hope people abide by it!

Sorry to make this short but need to be on the road.

I'm up but "attem" is missing. I synced Fitbit to my cell phone & got about 5 hours sleep last night. Even with a nap that was the limit most days this week except for one & 7 hours was the best I could do that night/day. Going to sleep is not my problem, it is finding time to stay asleep. Ah, well, need to feed cats & me, shower & get the elephant un-plugged, jacks up & that 30 miles through the orange cones to the shop, wait for them to do the job & back through the orange cones to home. Had the pool pump running all night so need to vac & turn it off. The "fluff" from the cottonwood trees is over so hopefully the skimmer basket didn't get too full of leaves & bugs & make the pump motor heat up. If it gets light early enough I will vac before taking a shower so I can stay clean all day.  :crazy2:

Jane, I do believe you & Amy get more that 24 hours in a day, care to share your secrets?  Guess I'll have to check later & see, right now I need to open the door & let cats in... maybe even cooler than in the house for an hour or so.  I will be so glad when we get to wake up to 50° temps, already the nights seem to stay dark longer. Whine, whine....  Sorry about the doctor moving, Amy, but hope there is another near by that takes new patients. 5:45 & I've been up about an hour & better get a move on. I think there is a mosquito in the house because my elbow is itching & I haven't even opened a door yet.

Jenn, forgot to wish you & Bob a "Happy Anniversary!"  Waiting to hear about your father & Michele's latest report.  Enjoy the family!

Have a great day, everyone, don't lose your attem!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up too and the doggies have been seen to but my "attem" escapes this morning, too.  I think it might have stayed in bed when I got up.  I don't feel especially good this morning and I really wish I didn't have to go to work but maybe it will help to focus on something else instead of myself.

We got some lovely rain overnight and it's still showering off and on today so I don't have to be dragging my hose around yesterday or today.

JENNY, a belated "Happy Anniversary" wish from me.  It sounds like you are totally enjoying your visit.  I wish you another week of family joy and many more happy anniversaries.

SHIRLEY, I thought it was you who had the curb on time! I waste a lot or it just vanishes and who knows where.  I try to plan and that's when I do get things done but I tend to plan something and something else yells for attention.  I do get things done but not always what I had planned!

Now I have to "get a wiggle on" and get myself ready for work.  I hope you all have a lovely day.  Grab it and make it your own!

I'm up but I'm not attem either.  Yesterday I went to the dentist early and I felt blah all morning but as the day wore on I felt more normal.

Did any of you ever have a full-head x-ray?  I had one yesterday and was told I had one about 10 years ago.  The x-ray showed all of my teeth which a bite-wing does not.  I found I have 17 crowns.

Jenny, I think I did not wish you a happy 52nd anniversary, so here's to a belated one.

Amy, I hope you can keep contact with your RA doctor or it would mean a lot of driving to see one in the future.

For everyone else, I hope your day goes well.

Good morning everyone, another miserable day in store for us here. Even with the AC running all night I could not seem to keep cool and could not sleep. Storms in the forecast for late afternoon/evening. If we get them maybe it will break this heatwave. This will be the fourth day of this heat and humidity.

MARY ANN  I know new people aren't joining in. There are a few here that have computers and I told them about S&F and gave them the addy so they can check it out but not interested.

JOY  my Mom  made the meringue like that, too. I can still picture her beating those egg whites.

JENNY  too bad you are in this are during one of our heatwaves. We usually have them in August but they are early this year. Hope you got to see some of the historical sites during your visit. Happy Belated Anniversary.

JANE  yes I do remember Joan's Angel dust. Sure could have used some last night. Joan must have been busy elsewhere in heaven and didn't know I needed some.

AMY  why is it when you find a good doctor they seem to leave practice or move.

SHIRLEY  I am with you  to 50° and a high of 75° and no humidity.

Have a good day and keep cool.

JANES - I'm glad you enjoyed "Vertigo" . . .  one of my top three favorite Hitchcock movies.  (I've never seen a James Stewart movie that I didn't like!)  Anyway, I wanted to mention that lots of the scenes from Vertigo, were filmed near where I live.  The forest scene, where they're standing together amidst the Redwood trees, was filmed at Big Basin State park, about 15 miles from me.  The San Juan Bautista Mission, where all the action takes place, is south of where I live. It's one of the most beautiful of the California missions, and is fully restored.  Church services are still held there every Saturday and Sunday, plus all the other things that are available at any Catholic Church.

Jane, have always heard that Alfred Hitchcock appears in all of his movies - usually in the background somewhere.  Wondered if you try to spot him.

I remember finding him as a guest at a party Jimmy Stewart was watching across the courtyard from his "Rear Window".  Some guy was playing the piano and AH was standing behind it as part of the group listening.

Many years ago, we saw the mansion from "Psycho" on the movie lot.  It was just as scary on the set as it was in the movie!  I still get chills remembering the first time "Mama" appears!!!!

MARILYN that's so neat that you live near where it "all takes place".  I also think, I've never seen a movie with Jimmy Stuart that I didn't like.  Did you know he was born in Pennsylvania about a 3 hour drive from where I live?  It's a town called Indiana but it's in PA. His father ran a store there, I think maybe furniture but I'm not sure.  Before all the interstates, the direct route to Pittsburg went right past the store.

CALLIE, one of my favorite things to do at a Hitchcock movie is to look for Alfred Hitchcock.  I think I read somewhere that his appearance is always less than a half hour into the show.  I think he's actually winding a clock in Rear Window.  In the one last night, he was strolling past the entrance to the friend's business right before JS arrives.  He's carrying a small case that might hold an instrument or something else small.

These movies are always preceded by a talk by the University professor (a very smart lady) who gives some insight into the characters and piques our interest in the plot.  she's very good and if I were a student and in one of her classes, I don't think I'd want to miss a single one.

I took my friend a dinner from my ventur with the IP (barbecued chicken and rice).  She just called to say she had it for dinner tonight and it was delicious!  I guess I'll keep the pot!

I'm just about ready to go watch a bit of TV and then hit the sack early.  I was really beat when I came home from work today.  I checked in here (didn't post), took care of the doggies needs, had a snack and took a nap!  While I was making doggie food at supper time, my SIL showed up and cut my grass.  He's the one who had surgery on his elbow about 6 weeks ago.  I guess he's healing on schedule!

I've decided that I'm unable to eat a regular sized meal any more.  I guess I'll have to have 9 or 10 small ones a day!  Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration1  But spreading them out seems better than trying to so much at one time.  And the dogs love it!  They have more chances to beg!  It's a win/win situation!

Enjoy the rest of your day!  Don't forget, it's YOUR day!  Do it your way!
