"The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created--created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination."

BEYOND THE CROSSROADS

When I look into the mirror,
I do wonder how it can be,
that an old man looks back at me.
Where on earth has this old man been
for all of those many lost years -
too few laughs and too many tears.

From manhood, up to the crossroads,
those prime-of-life youth years just flew;
those happy years were all too few.
From youth to old age was a blur.
Life's tribulations took their toll.
Now, I'm simply wrinkled and old.

As I look into the mirror,
far beyond the facial lines,
I seek most a heart that is kind;
one with consistent compassion;
a heart forever forgiving -
to share lessons with the living.

I assessed my very being,
far deep within my ageless soul.
Was I wiser as I grew old?
Was my spirit all it could be?
Were my pure thoughts too far away,
when I humbly knelt to pray?

The human jungle was my cross.
Unable to meet its demands,
I mustered courage - made my stands.
Winning battles, but loosing wars,
the struggles had a human price!
I was at my end more than twice.

Only after utter defeat
did life become pure and golden -
returning years that were stolen.
I was led to the right crossroad
and received my award at last.
My trials were in the distant past!

Retirement is traumatizing
to many I am well aware,
but I find a safe haven there.
My spirit and youth are renewed.
Oh glory be, oh glory be,
I found my niche, and I am free!

What a bounty of "stuff" you've given us, Bubble!  I loved it all but the old guy in the mirror brought back  memory to me.  Many times, I heard my mother say, "Every time I look in the mirror, there's this old hag looking back at me!  I wonder where she came from?"  I understand that now.  My mirror has the same problem!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYFRIEND!  I'm just waiting for the boinger for feeding the doggies and I had to look for the natural doggie de-itchizer.  Annie's got 'em again and that stuff worked so well te last time that I'm going to try it again.

I'm off to mix it up!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Can't say Good Morning, anymore.  I have been on this computer for several hours and I just don't know where the time goes.  I guess I need to start using my timer again/  The morning has just disappeared.

First, Jenny, your grand daughter is beautiful !  Sure looks a lot older than 9 years old.  I agree that it will be hard to keep the boys from knocking on the door.  But, hopefully, that is a good ways off.

Gloria, Callie and Amy,  My appointment yesterday went very well.  Everything looked good, but will have to wait about a week for the results of the urinalysis to come back.  But, I guess the low-maintenance drug I am taking is doing it's work.  The urologist also said it will be ok to just continue seeing the PA that I saw where I couldn't get an appointment with him. She is in another office that is a lot closer to where I live.  He said she was very good and would keep him updated when I see her. I have an appointment with her on Oct.31.  So far, the medicine is working.

And.  yes, it was so nice to see so many family members at the party on Sat.  It is always a fun day,  but with so many people, you just don't get a lot of time to visit with each other.

Jane, you sure have been busy making the soup.  I am not a big soup eater, but I do like a good home-made veggie soup. I have a good recipe for one called "Autumn Soup" with ground beef and pasta noodles. It is almost like a stew. I like a thick soup. I don't make it very often, but it is good.

As I mentioned above, I have been on here for way too long. I need to get myself dressed and take some papers down to the office.  I almost forgot that the rent is due today, also.  There is a pharmacist coming here on Thursday to give flu shots and I need to take the paperwork to the office for that.  Something about the pharmacist registering the person before Thurs. I usually get it at my primary care doctor, but when I saw her the end of Aug. it was too early, and I don't see her anymore until after the first of the year.  So, I will get it here.

I will try to get back later.  Have a great afternoon.  Since I had a late breakfast, not ready for lunch yet.

Joy

JOY, I'm happy about your good news.  I hope the bad stuff stays away.  I also love the sound of your family and friends gathering.  What a nice thing to do for everyone!

I also like the sound of your "Autumn Soup".  Would you share the recipe?  I love to try new soups and casseroles!

The movie was great and my time spent with a friend was special, too.  We laughed a lot and shared some memories n the ride there nd back.

Doggies have been fed and my supper is in the oven.  I made mac and cheese.  I was hungry for it!  But it has to be brown on top.

OOPS!  There goes the buzzer!  Enjoy the rest of your day!

Jane,  I will be happy to share the soup recipe with you.  But, I will have to look it up. I guess I could put it on the message board for recipes. I know Larry did a great job of categorizing a lot of recipes and I will have to look and see where to put it.  It will take me a couple days to get around to it.

That's OK, JOY, I'm not ready to make more soup right now.  Just let me know when and where it is.  If you want to, you could email it to me.  If that's too much trouble, just tell me where to look when you're ready.

Now, I'm off to bed.  I wish Everyfriend a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning Everyfriend...and a special Good Morning to you, LLOYD for being such an early bird.

We're just sitting here waiting for the boinger.  Last night I noticd that I didn't have any lunch meat or cheese to make a sandwich for work today so I boiled a couple of eggs.  This morning I made some egg salad and that's my sandwich.  When I only have 15 minutes to eat it, a sandwich is easiest to do.

Wish me smiles!  I'll be doing my stint at Wally World today.

I wonder where Shirly was last night!

I hope you all have a lovely day!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Good morning everyone, yesterday did not happen. We got to the xray place and I was told the insurance OK had not come in yet and unless I was ready to pay for it out of pocket the CT scan couple not be done. I saw red and my son was not happy either. It is now set for Friday morning. I told them they could have called before we got there so could have saved the trip. Told them to call Thursday if the the insurance OK'd it so we would not go for nothing again. I am still upset and not up to being a pleasant person. My CNA had a short day because had to cancel her and Friday will lose more. At least it was only a 4 hour fast before the scan and not longer  than that.

Not up to talking this morning, think I have caught up on a bit of the sleep I did not get waiting for the alarm to go off yesterday so hopefully my outlook will improve as the day goes on.

BUBBLE  thanks for the October page and the graphics. I remember how many I used to post of the autumn scenes.

Have a good day.

GLORIA, relax, breathe deeply, think good thoughts!  There, doesn't that feel better?

PHYLLIS, maybe we better hound you about the exercises.  What do you think?  GET WITH IT GIRL!  DON"T JUST SIT THERE!  If you do just sit there, that might turn out to be all you can do.  Think about that!

I'm off to the showers and off to work.  Thanks AMY for the good wishes.  I hope I don't forget milk on the way home.

G'Day all. Hope everone is in the best of health, sorry i have been absent for a few days, but i still manage to look in when i can, i have found another interesting 'Armchair Walk' that you may like to take, another old Church but this one has a very interesting plaque on the wall concerning the origins of the family name of 'Washington' which i hope may be of interest to you all, the old village of Washington is quite close to this Church, the Church shown here 'Poynings'  is just 'A ten minute Drive' from where we live, Washington about thirty minutes further to the west, hope you enjoy this little walk, again there are one or two old Pub's we can stop at as we walk around, they make it all the more interesting !. :) .

GOOD EVENING......good evening, good evening, good evening.....

There really is an echo in here!

Last night was a terrible night of NO sleep for me, so I will not be here long, but did want to pop in and at least say HELLO EVERYFRIEND.

JANE, nice to read tha5 you enjoyed your time with your friends and that you enjoyed the movie.

GLORIA, I am sorry to read that you were not able to get your scan yesterday.....there is no excuse for them not letting you know this before you arrived for your appointment 😩😩

PHYLLIS, it is good that the PT has released you.  I do hope you can continue your exercises and get stronger.

AMY, is today the day Kyle is to get his report on his scan done last week?

We managed to get our passport pictures taken this afternoon as we need to get our passports renewed just incase we find we can get away one of these days.    Speaking of getting away, we are not going to be able to go see Jonah next week as we had planned....seems our DIL Megan's Parents made some reservations the same day we did and DIL thought it was too much right at the same time, even tho we were not to arrive for three days after they were to leave.  It is OK, we called Southwest Airlines and we found out one can cancel and get their money totally refunded if you call within 24 hours of making the reservation.  Of course you probably all know we have been trying to find a time we could get a trip planned that we were not needed her to help Michele, and we we so excited that we finally had the opportunity......oh well.  I have to admit that I was very disappointed, but we all know  things have a way of working out for the best.  Mark called tonight and told us he was disappointed that we can not come now but hoped we can find another time soon and that he hoped it would work out for Megan.

We also got our flu shots today.  They have really been pushing for people to get them right away as the6 expect it to be a bad year for the flu.....

I hope you all had a good day.

I am off to bed and hope it is a much better night of sleep for me.  I guess I will go ahead and turn out the lights.

Jenny

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Annie woke me early with her scratching.  I guess today is the day I have to call the vet.  She is so itchy that she has spots of hair scratched off her behind and her tail!  I tried a couple of home remedies but they only last an hour or so and she's back to itching.

We woke up to a mist rain and temps in the mid 50s not supposed to get above the low 60s today with heavier rain predicted to begin late morning.  I like the temps and we really need the rain but I do not like to drive in storms!

We're up and attem early this morning because of Annie's itching.  I also have a dentist appointment later this morning and a couple of errands to do on the way home!

I hope you all have a lovely day!

Good morning everyone..

Nothing important  to  do today other than meeting a friend for coffee  after I take hubby out for his. We will just pop over to the store down the road ,then I will head into town to meet her. She has fabric for me and I have books, plants and a few other things for her. Then home to clean  out more drawers.
Jenny, I am sorry things didn't work out for you this time but will soon. We go tomorrow to hear the results from the oncologist .

Lloyd, wise decision to share that candy.the odd piece won't hurt you but I bet it sure put a smile on those young ones face.

Gloria, that was not nice, hope they can give you more warning next time. We have a fellow here that went to have surgery but since he was on antibiotics , it couldn't be done so home he came.

Phyliss, that is all one can do ,put one foot ahead of the other. Hope today is a better day for you.

Roley, thank you for the stroll.....love these.

Better get ready for the day..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, 49° cool this morning, yesterday almost turned on the AC. My son came yesterday with the last of the season tomatoes from his garden. Yummy, I will enjoy every bite knowing there will be no more till next summer. Wish there was a way to keep some through the winter to enjoy a tomato sandwich. I know about canning and freezing but no matter they cannot beat biting into a fresh picked one.

JANE  I did relax yesterday, does no good to get worked up about something I cannot control. Got good news from my DIL yesterday, she is coming this morning to cut my hair and boy does it need it. Much too long for me and since I cannot use a blow dryer or curling iron anymore I sure look like an old witch about now. Hope you remembered the milk yesterday, that is something I make sure I never run out of.

ROLEY/PETER  nice seeing you this morning. I will enjoy your new walk when I finish reading the posts, I always enjoy watching all the walks you give us to enjoy.

JANE  yikes you posted after 8:AM then Roley posted and the next post was from you after 8:PM 12 hours with only 1 post in between. I know I do not post as often as I used to but life here is pretty dull lately so nothing to talk about.

JENNY  I don't think I mentioned your new avatar yesterday. She is a beautiful girl, loo older than 9 years old. By the time she is a teen Dad will have his hands full keeping the boys away. Sorry you cannot have the trip to see Jonah like you wanted. As the saying goes-things work out for the best. We got out flu shots here last Friday, glad that is over for this year.

LLOYD  hope you got more sleep. I know I woke too early this morning but that's OK.

JANE  we had some rain yesterday and today is to be cloudy and damp, sure not my kind of weather.

AMY  the scan is now scheduled for tomorrow at 10 AM but I will call this afternoon to find out if the insurance came through first. If not I think I will forget the whole thing.

PETER  beautiful church, thank you.

Have a good day.

Once again.....Where is everyone?  I posted at 6:30 this morning and there have only been 3 posts since that time.  I listened to Roly's bell ringer and read what Lloyd was up to and followd Amy's adventures and then nothing!

I've been to the dentist and he's sending me back to the oral surgeon for another biopsy of some tissue that has collected where I had a couple teeth pulled about a year and a half ago.  Makes me a bit nervous but they didn't find anything the last time so there's hope that it's still OK.  However, I'd appreciate a little prayer when you think of me.

I got all finished with errands and chores today and when I sat down on the sofa after supper, the zzzzs grabbed me!  Now I'm all zonked out and ready for bed  Tomorrow is another Wally World day.  I hope it's a good one.

I wish all of you a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and I pray that God is looking after you....ALL!

Forgot to mention that we had rain all day.  Kind of dreary but much needed so I can't complain.  The temps stayed down in the low 60s and high 50s all day!

Also forgot to mention that I finally got to the Amish farmstand again and got so Honey Crisp apples.  I paid $2.50 for what would have cost me around $7.00 at the grocery store.  And they were right off the trees, not right off the truck from Oregon.  I had one for lunch and it was uum uum good!

Good morning everyone, well it is morning and 48°. I should still be sleeping but have to be out of here by 9 this morning. Finally going for the CT scan, have to fast for 4 hours before but I do need  something in my tummy before the fasting starts. Guess 1 piece of toast will hold me till I can really have something solid to eat. My DIL was here yesterday and cut my hair. Boy did I need one, now it will look decent again for a couple of months.
Better get a move on and get the toast and then into the shower.

JANE  my son went a picked apples a few days ago and brought me a bag full. Some Honey crisp, cortlands and some empires. A nice mix of flavors for an apple crisp and applesauce.

Have  a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone..

We are off to the city to meet with the oncologist for the results of the CT scan. Each time I say everything is going to be ok but it sure doesn't stop one from worrying.

Yesterday Kyle raked up the pine needles as we bagged  4 huge bags to take to the dump tomorrow. Still need to tackle the garden so maybe that will be a job for Sat also.

Shirley , Joy and Phyllis are amongst the missing......hope all is well with them. Mary Ann hasn't posted in a while either..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're up and moving.  The doggies have been out and had their morning pill.  Now they're waiting for the boinger and breakfast.

AMY, it wasn't the Amish store where I went yesterday.  It was a farmstand.  They still trust people.  Everything was clearly marked and it there was a place to leave money for whatever you took.  It's a busy place.  Someone was just leaving as I arrived and another man finished up as I started.  When I left someone else pulled in.  I think they must do OK.  They not only have produce, they also have flowers.

AMY, prayers go with you for good news!  Let us know!

I missed our friends, too and was hoping all was well with them and they just had it other things to do.  Sometimes we just get busy...or sleepy....or interested in something...or company comes.  I hope that's what happened with them and they'll be back today.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

I am doing better today and for the first time in over a month I will try to go to the grocery store with David. I'll see what the body and head say when time comes to go.

We hit a 100 degrees yesterday..all time record for so late in the season.  Supposed to have a "cold" front come in late today.  Please, let them be right this time.

Fingers crossed, Amy.

Must get some breakfast and do my exercises....are you paying attention, Jane? ;)

Take care, All.

I'm here, but just.  I had a skin cancer removed from my nose Tuesday and while I haven't felt any effects from the anesthesia I've been tired and doing some sleeping.  Tom and I did go out to lunch Wednesday and ran into friends.  I had a huge bandage on my nose and she wondered if Tom had slugged me.  Of course not!

Other than that, I've computed, trying to find something interesting to do on the computer.  Now I have to see what's going on with Norm's B&T, that's been too quiet of late.

I wish I could go to the Food Markets with you, Jane, we have a Farmer's Market store near us, but Tom is so busy, I don't ask to go.  Besides, it's hard to walk around the store.  But I'd like to get some fresh produce.  On the other hand, I've been happy with what I've gotten via our online shopping.

Phyllis, I'm glad to see you up and around and I hope you can stay that way.

Amy, prayers for a good report for Kyle.

In light of the fact that we CONTINUE to have Squirrel issues, I did have to chuckle when I read this in an email this morning.

In La Jolla area,   a band of squirrels had become quite a problem

The Presbyterian church called a meeting to decide what to do about their squirrel infestation.  After much prayer and consideration, they concluded that the squirrels were predestined to be there, and they shouldn't interfere with God's divine will.

At the Baptist church the squirrels had taken an interest in the baptistery.  The deacons met and decided to put a water-slide on the baptistery and let the squirrels drown themselves.  The squirrels liked the slide and unfortunately, knew instinctively how to swim, so twice as many squirrels showed up the following week.

The Lutheran church decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God's creatures.  So, they humanely trapped their squirrels and set them free near the Baptist church.  Two weeks later the squirrels were back when the Baptists took down the water-slide.

The Episcopalians tried a much more unique path by setting out pans of whiskey around their church in an effort to kill the squirrels with alcohol poisoning.  They sadly learned how much damage a band of drunk squirrels can do.

But the Catholic church came up with a more very creative strategy!  They baptized all the squirrels and made them members of the church.  Now they only see them at Christmas and Easter.

And not much was heard from the Jewish synagogue.  They took the first squirrel and circumcised him.  They haven't seen a squirrel since.

Hi! Just stopping by to let you know that I have not forgotten any of you.  Just have not had much to say and having some lazy days. I know things here a little slow, so I know I should make myself heard more than I have been doing.

I had a good night, but was still so sleepy when I first woke up. So, I went back to bed.  That will mess up the rest of the day.  It is a pretty sunny day, but has gotten a lot colder.  But, will I know I can't do anything about the weather.  Then I read for a little while and fell back to sleep, again.   It seems when I do get on the computer, that does tend to wake me up.  I just got something to eat, and realty need to get a few things done.

My son just called a little while ago, and he was upset as he had to put his horse down this morning.  He has had that horse for a long time and he was pretty upset. So, that didn't help me feel much better, either.  Always sad when you lose an "animal friend".

Do hope all the friends here will have a good day.

Good Friday morning to EVERYFRIEND.

AMY, I thought about you and Kyle during my non sleeping time last night and certainly hope and pray that Kyle will get a clean report this morning🙏

My non sleeping had quite a bit to do with the fact that Brian and Cathy we flying back to the US from Hong Kong.  I just got the word a few minutes ago that they have landed in San Francisco, so this mama is relieved.  They still have the last leg into Denver to go, and we can not wait to see them.  They had a wonderful time but boy have they missed their Doodle Oliver.

GLORIA, thinking about you as well.  Thankful you will get your scan today.  I know you must have felt awesome yesterday after your hair cut!  Best wishes for a good report from the scan.

Yesterday my best friend was in town and we went for a nice brunch to celebrate her recent Birthday.  When she left home she forgot her shoe bag, so after we ate we went to a couple of stores to try to find her a pair of shoes!  She finally had to buy one that she was not that thrilled with but all she had to wear was a pair of open toed sandals.  We came back to the house to chat then all three of us went to dinner at Sweet Tomatoes, her favorite place to eat and where we always go when she visits.  She scored two Birthday meals and she was very pleased.

MARY ANN, I hope your wound on the nose is healing well.  Was this a Mose treatment or might they still be waiting on a  biopsy to know if they got it all? I hope it is DONE and you are through this time!  I know you try not to ask Tom to do extra things for you, but I bet if he knew you would like to go to the farmers markets he would gladly take you.  I understand tho that walking around places like that can sure be a challenge.  Any chance Dot might be interested in going and might drive you?  Just a thought.

PHYLLIS, I hope you do well on your outing today at the grocery store.  I am sure it will wear you out, but hopefully you will really enjoy it.

Oh NO, JOY.  I am sorry to read the sad news about your son having to put his horse down.

We are going to take Oliver to his home, then go to the airport and pick up Brian and a Cathy, so I guess I had better get a move on.  Need to get a little breakfast then in the shower, so I will wish you all a good day.

Jenny

Jenny, I know you are happy to have Brian and Cathy back in the "good old USA!"  Have a good reunion!

I was told the doctor was going to use the Mohs system, but I don't think the nose is thick enough where he worked to use the Mohs.  The cancer spot was about 1/4" square and I remember smelling burning skin, so I know he burned it out.  The spot now is about 1/2" square and open meaning the skin will have to grow together to heal.  That was my choice, otherwise he would have had to patch it.  Right now I put Vaseline on the cloth part of a bandaid and put that on the wound. It does not hurt and with the bandaid, it looks much better than the large, thick bandage I had on for the first two days.  It was nothing like the other skin cancers I've had in the last 14 years.  Thanks for asking.

Dot does go to the Farmer's Market nearby but she has her own achy problems.  She and I will go to a funeral Monday and she will sit in a comfortable chair at the back and I'll sit up further where I can almost see and almost hear!!!

In November several of us family members plan to meet in Portland MI to meet the new arrival - a boy to be born October 14 by C section.  This is the great niece who went to the doctor and found she was four or five months pregnant!  Her dad died almost five years ago and I hope she'll name the boy something after Tim.  I don't wish for much, do I?  Of four 2x greats, only one has a family name and it is of his mother's side.  But, at least it's a family name.  And since he is a boy, he should retain his last name of Tock.  So far we have Avery (girl), Johanna and Eleanor (old names on purpose) and Isaiah (Biblical).  The last family also is expecting in November.

I'd better quit!

Mary Ann

Mary Ann, we both have Great Great Nieces (according to my chart that figures such things) named Johanna and Eleanor.  Mine are 3 month old twins and are to be called Jo and Nell.  Saw pictures of them at the Amarillo funeral and they are darling. They have two older sisters ages 5 and 3 and their Dad seemed a bit overwhelmed.

Jenny,  I understand the worrying when family is flying over the ocean.  So glad Brian and Cathy are back on this side!
Have you seen pictures of the two wildfires near Salida and Vail?  Terrible!!!  One article said smoke from the Salida fire might reach Colorado Springs and that I-70 was closed in both directions west of Vail.  Hope none of your family is affected.

If I knew how to post pictures, I'd share two of Miss Emily, who has received her first business cards from the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Overland Park Kansas where she is one year away from her Doctorate.  I knew there was a "white coat" ceremony (she got that a year ago) but had never heard of one for Business Cards.  Apparently, she is now a "clinical intern" and can begin accepting clients in the college clinic.
Her parents went up for today's ceremony.

No "Ditto" for today!    Weather was cloudy and almost chilly this morning - so I began what I plan as a 3 day project.....cleaning annuals out of flower beds and replenishing bird feeders.  I've accomplished 1/3 of the goal

An e-book I'd had on Hold has appeared in my reading list.  Guess what I'm doing the rest of the afternoon.  :study: and probably

Callie, our twins are Jo and Ellie.  Even though they are not identical, they look much alike.  It is easy to tell them apart because Jo has curly hair and Ellie does not.  We have noticed a wave at the bottom of her hair, but it will not be curly.

Maybe getting a Business Card is another step toward being a full doctor.  How thrilling for Miss Emily.

I am SO happy to be home tonight.....We got Brian and Cathy home tonight safe and sound, but the day had way too much excitement than they ever wanted.  When on the plane taxiing out to leave San Francisco they were told they were going to have to return to the gate as the6 had a maintenance issue.  Then a bit later they announced they would not be returning to the gate as the problem cleared up.  GREAT.  As they were nearing the Denver Airport the plane pulled away and circled around a couple of times at which point they were told to prepare for a emergency crash landing! They went over all of the safety information about the oxygen dropping down, etc., and how to lean forward and brace yourself and to make sure you had no scarves or anything hanging on you or sharp things that could cut the emergency shoot.  Then they told them not to worry as the emergency vehicles would be there to greet them and that every thing would be OK.  Then the entire flight crew started chanting BRACE BRACE BRACE BRACE until the plane landed and all was well.  They had to sit there and wait for the emergency vehicles inspected the plane then they were allowed to go forward to the gate......quite a frightening experience needless to say.  We were all just so thankful that everything turned out OK....

AMY, I am so thankful to read the news that Kyle is clear of any cancer🙏🙏. Prayers answered❣️ Go to bed and sleep well knowing your prayers have been answered.

Yes, CALLIE, we have been watching the news about the fires.  They are so frightening.  I saw the picture of Miss Emily on Face Book.  Sweet.  None of our family are in Vail right now, but the fires are ver6 concerning.

I wish you all a nice evening.

Good morning everyone.

Foggy and frosty here this morning..

Yesterday was a huggy day. Started off by stopping to get Kyle a coffee to go. We have met and talked with the 3 gentlemen that stop there in the past. Each time we meet I give the Dad a hug, this time we were leaving and they were just pulling in so I backed up and kidded him about trying to get out of a hug. He gave me such a hug and a peck on the cheek while the other 2 looked on.!! The Dad in his 90's used to drive the son but both are not able and thankfully they have a friend that brings them out.  Then after meeting with the Dr we went to the Chinese buffet where I got another hug from the lady that runs it.While eating a man came over to our table and gave me another hug, my cousin and his wife had also chose to eat there. Have enough hugs to keep me going a grinning like a Cheshire cat!

Today is to take all the bags of pine needles to the dump, laundry and maybe baking..depends on how the energy lasts.
Jenny, oh my what a ride , that is one they won't forget in a while. How is your Dad doing?

Better get ready ,days sure fly by on us anymore.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I was tired and swamped yesterday but a good nights sleep took care of the tired and the rest is pretty much done.

The overnight temps got into the mid 30s overnight and are not much higher now. I have the heat on for the first time this season.  It sure feels good!

JENNY, two things...I glad the young 'uns had a safe landing.  That must have been a harrowing experience!  Also, I loved the squirrel thing.  However, I'm an Episcopalian and I don't think we're a church full of heavy drinkers.  In fact, there's a bottle of wine in my kitchen that's been there at least two years.  Maybe I should go drink it so I can live up to my church reputation.

YAY KYLE!!!  Celebrate, I'll throw in a bottle of wine!

PHYLLIS, I'm happy to see that it was busy-ness that kept you from posting.  I hope your outing to the store was a rewarding one.  You're probably tired but that can be remedied.  Put your head back and your feet up and RELAX!

MARY ANN, heal fast and no returns.  If you lived close enough, I'd take you with me to the Amish Store and the farmstands and markets.  Since I can't do that, tell me your favorite produce and I'll buy it and eat it in your honor!

JOY, you can have as many lazy days as you want but don't run them all together so you get used to them.  That might not be good.  I sympathize with your son on his lose of a favorite horse.  It's never easy!

CALLIE, my congrats to Miss Emily on her recent achievement.  She must be a very bright young lady!  I wish her well!

I was amazed at all the posts.  Maybe it has something to do with me.  When I come in, there's nobody here.  When I don't come in you all post.  Should I take offense?  Are you trying to avoid me?  What can I do about that?  :2funny:  :2funny:  :2funny:

Good morning everyone, 35° now at 7 am but was colder earlier.Every thing is covered in frost this morning. Had to laugh at the weather  report on TV last night saying the first frost of the season-we had a harder frost here already. This part of the state used to be called the refrigerator of the state, still is the coldest part.

Every thing went good yesterday, more comfortable getting the CT scan than an MRI. Of course I was hungry but wanted coffee more than food so we did stop at a DD for coffee. When I got in here I changed the clothes I wore and then laid down and slept most of the afternoon, slept better last night than I had the rest of the week so feel wide awake this morning.

AMY  hope the news yesterday about the CT scan was good. The man who did the one yesterday told me my doctor would have the result late afternoon. If so I should hear from her Monday. I sure will not spend time worrying about it.

PHYLLIS  glad you are feeling better. Hope the grocery shopping did not wear you out. I would love to get into a market and see what is new on the shelves that would tempt me to eat.

MARY ANN  I can understand the sleeping. I think it is the relief that that cancer on your nose was removed. I was concerned about the CT scan and did not sleep well all week till yesterday. Was good to have that over with.

JENNY  loved the squirrel story. If I knew someone with a squirrel problem I would send it to them. Hmm maybe I should copy it and save it for the future?

JOY  I can imagine how your son feels. I know how I felt when we had to have a loved pet sent over the Rainbow Bridge.

JENNY  like you I worry about any family member when they are traveling and only relax when they are safely home again.

CALLIE  even with not much to say I sure can end up talking a lot in here.

AMY  HIP HIP HOORAY for no cancer. You and Kyle must both be very happy. God bless you both.

JENNY  not the kind of flight anyone wants. I sure would have wanted off that plane.

JANE  I have the heat  on, too, but not the first time. Sure need the heat this morning.

LLOYD  good morning.

Have a good day.

Thank you, all of you northerners for sending down cool weather.  How nice!

The grocery shopping went very well and I was so pleased.  I only had to sit down on the Rollater twice for a couple of minutes.  I'm so encouraged.

Hooray for Kyle, Amy.  That is such good news.

Gloria, I know you are glad to have the CT scan over with.  Fingers crossed for good results.

Mary Ann, I hope the nose is doing much better today.

Jane, take it easy today and rest up.

Thanks, Lloyd.  And, please take care of yourself.

Hope everyone else is doing well today.

Loved the story of the squirrels!  Gave me a good laugh and that's always nice.  Thank you, Jenn.

Thanks for all the good wishes about my nose.  It is doing its thing and will take several weeks, but will heal on its own.  In the meantime, I'll put a bandaid on it.  It's probably 1/2" square in size.  No one mentioned it until the bandaid came off.

Jane, right now I'd like a fresh tomato because I'd like a salad.  I probably will make myself a salad without a tomato.  I like yellow tomatoes as well as red.  So have yourself a treat.

I felt almost the same as you, Jane, with Norm's B&T because there were several posts, more than usual.

I just had a sip of my flavored coffee and it tasted so good.  I can read with the cup on the front of my laptop, but I can't type with it there.

Gloria, I'm glad your CT went well.  I've had a couple and they were easy.

Amy, it is good you got all of those hugs; they should keep you going for a long time.

I really just got out of the shower where I also shampooed my hair.  I'm good in that area for a few days.  When I wake up, I'll be back.  I have only one errand today and that is to go to the bank.  Tom and I split the cost of eating last night and there went the last of my money.  It seems all of my bank withdrawals go for food -sometimes for others, but mostly Tom and me, then on alternate Sundays with Dot.  And tomorrow it's my turn.

Good Morning.  Cloudy and back to muggy in central Oklahoma.

Jenny, :2funny:   and  at the suggestions for squirrels.  I'm Presbyterian but the other methods sound good for the on-going battle I have with the ones around my bird feeders.

Thanks for the kind comments about Emily.  I am very proud of her for setting a goal and working successfully toward it - even though it's taking four years past college to achieve.  She will graduate as "Doctor Emily, Chiropractor" in December 2020 and has already been asked to join a practice in the OKC area where she grew up.  Academically, Emily is doing extremely well; however, she has never "had one foot in the air and her hand on the doorknob" like her sister Ellen so it hasn't been 100% easy for her to be even four hours away from home.

Weather isn't conducive to finishing the flower bed clean-up.  (That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!  ;))

Off to look for something else useful to do.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend

Just a quick note...

I took myself to Wenger's (The Amish Grocery Store) because Cathy and Craig are away or the weekend and I needed a bunch of stuff.  I made out like a bandit.  Then I stopped at the roadside farm stand on the way home and picked up a box of cherry tomatoes for snacking. Then, I paused in front of a box of tomatoes for salads and sandwiches.  I had my hand on them and then decided against them.  I turned away and then I turned back....twice.  I think it was MARY ANN saying, "I'd love a tomato for my salad!"  So I bought a basket of those, too.

MARY ANN, I already had one for my lunch.  I just cut it up in a dish, added a little mayonnaise and some bacon bits, salt and pepper and ate it in your honor!

Now I have to get busy and get ready for company!  Have a lovely rest of the day, Everyfriend!

Carol, I could be very surprised, but I'm not expecting any trouble.  I have a check up in two weeks.  I think I am getting along fine.  After all, it was three months between the time they made the appointment for the surgery and the surgery.  To my way of thinking, it seemed it was not too serious.

Jane, it was delicious.

When I was young, my neighbor friends ate tomatoes like apples and we never had any so I did not know know how they tasted or how good they were.  I have no idea when I had one to find out how they tasted.  When I lived alone, I made many salads but Tom doesn't make them and he does the cooking.  He likes them, but only gets them when we eat out. I try to order green stuff but then he'll have something else on the menu or we'll eat out!

I'm BACK!~~  Drove to MO on Tuesday, had to really move to get the RV filled with water & everything I needed for cats & me... since I couldn't do it last week while roofers trucks were in my driveway. I delivered the school books that came from Dad's old home... I had not gone over them well before and was surprised that the Mcguffey books were 1880s & belonged to Dad's mother. The lady at the Historical Society seemed pleased to get them (10 or 12) and that they had names inside. I explained to her that I wanted them donated in my parents name as family instead of just me. We'll see how this works out, but at least I do think they will be cherished.

It was extremely hot & I expected the campground to be empty in the middle of the week, instead there was only ONE campsite open & it had nary a tree around. I do hate sitting in an RV listening to the AC run. The TV wasn't good & I couldn't find my stack of DVDs to watch, so I slept. Cats were good, they don't horse around like they used to do. I had planned to spend 2 nights at that campground but decided it would be better to go on to Truman Lake near Warsaw, MO.... found that campground pretty full as well. But I did get a shady spot & cats & I just ate & slept until Friday morning when we headed to Sedalia for my class reunion/luncheon. I had a wonderful time during high school so always fun to see old friends. Many of my close friends are dead but graduating class of about 250 (started out in 8th grade of more than 300 but "back in the day..." a lot of girls got married & boys got jobs instead of graduating.

Last night I called my brother & SIL that live "on the way home" (in KC area) to see if they were going to be home this morning, they were so I got up between 4:00-5:00am to go to Papa Jake's for a box of their special pastries. Good stuff & I bought enough for us to eat this morning & each have some for another day. Best fried apple pies you ever tasted. The wind was still out of the north (oh, cooled down Thursday evening & felt wonderful)... rained between KC & Wichita, hard at times. But I pulled in mid afternoon & got some of the stuff unloaded. Will finish up tomorrow & fill her up again on Monday for the next trip.

So that was the week that was... and now I need to find Tiger cat & feed her. Callie was waiting when we pulled in & she & Tom ate like pigs but Tiger had to unwind first. Don't know where she is. Tom & Callie walked down to the river to feed fish with me. Tiger didn't show up. She ate her breakfast but nothing since so know she is hungry. Hope the "gutter-guys" get all the new gutters up this week & be finished will this ordeal... and be done with that insurance lady. She certainly is not a good representative for that company!!!

Hard to see the keyboard with my mouth wide open yawning....better take a shower & wash my hair since tomorrow is Sunday. I did go back to read every post & looks like y'all have been busy. I made comments in my head to each of you & will leave it at that.... still in my head. Prayers for those in need & thanks for the blessings of the week. This is one tired old lady.
:cheer:  :snowball:

I wondered why I was so tired and now I know - I just read Shirley's post.  I can't keep up with you.  I wonder if in 10 years you will be so active?

It's been a nice day here, nothing special, just nice.  Kendrick wandered about and I think he will still wander tomorrow.  What with the EEE stuff, I don't want to let him out on the deck.

Tomorrow Dot and I will do our usual and we'll take it from there.

I'm off to the sack, too!  It's been a busy day here and tomorrow promises the same.  My daughter Christy and my granddaughter Frankie arrived around supper time and we popped open one of those jars of soup I just finished canning so now I have a second and third opinion on them.  They both pronounced it "perfect....as ususal"

Frankie is out with friends and will be back soon.  Christy has gone to bed but the pups and I are waiting up for Frankie.  I know, that's no my job but it is my house and I can't sleep till all my chicks are in the nest.

SHIRLEY, I envy you that trip!  It sounds like you enjoyed every minute of it and you sure did a lot.  Well, maybe you didn't REALLY enjoy the campsite in the sun but it had to be better than nothing!

I might just go to bed and wait for Frankie to get back.  The dogs will hear her and they'll let me know.

Sleep well my friends and wake to a happy day!  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

I slept sound last night and feel as if more could be had. Today is a day of rest thank goodness. I did laundry then tackled the garden getting 3 huge bags of garbage to go..lots of green tomatoes but no one wants them ,so off they go, the bears may eat them.

Jane, have a fun time with family.

Mary Ann, does this mean a stop at the Cholesterol pit? I get a chuckle every time you say that.  Thank you for correcting me.......up but not totally  awake........that is my story and I am sticking to it. :)

Lloyd, I hope you can get things settled.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Yes, Amy, Dot and I will go to the Cholesterol Pit today after church.  I've mentioned before that either Norm or Dot coined that phrase.  It actually is Mr Burger's, a hamburg chain, very popular.  As shown by the fact that Dot and I split a piece of pie and a Tuna Melt, you can see they fix other things too.  We also get coffee and I can tell you their decaf coffee is better than McD's.

Nitpicking again, Amy, but 3 bags of "garage" is a bit much!  How do you handle that?  (I know what you mean!)

Good morning everyone, woke a little after midnight and thought it was time to get up. I did turn the TV on for awhile and went back to bed and right to sleep. Not bad and I do feel awake now. Better than waking at 3am and being awake the rest of the day.

PHYLLIS  glad you did good grocery shopping. Those rollators  are great to have. Much better than the walkers. The young man who did the CT scan was very nice and explained what was going on. He thought with my age and being so skinny he would have trouble finding a vein and apologized for hurting me before he looked. I told him no problem I still have good veins in both arms, he was happy to see that. Glad you had cooler temperatures.

MARY ANN  if I was closer I would share one of the last tomatoes of the year with you. My son gave me a few of yellow tomatoes but I prefer the red ones. I had no idea what the scan would be like but easy and faster and better than an MRI with all the noise.

CALLIE  I can see you and the family "popping your buttons" when Emily gets that final degree. She went for what she wanted and is making it happen.

JANE  I have the tomatoes my son gave me on a shelf over the sink and almost every time I am in there I will pick up of the smaller ones and just bite into it and enjoy every bite, no salt or anything, just plain tomato.

CAROL  hope the medical procedure for your son turns out great.

SHIRLEY  glad you are home safely once again. Hope you got a good night sleep and are wide awake this morning.

AMY  like you I went to bed early for me but it was interrupted in the middle of the night. I wake always wanting to sleep more.

JANE  looks like everyone was sleepy last night. Change in the weather?

LLOYD  hope every thing works out right for you.

Have a good day.

I'm back from the Cholesterol Pit.  I really think any hamburger joint could claim that title.  Pie was coconut cream and we had our usual tuna melt.

Gloria, a former neighbor introduced me to yellow tomatoes because the red ones had too much acid for her.  I really like both, have no preference, but I can eat both, too.  I have a tomato on the grocery list and so far I've been happy with what the shoppers have chosen (on-line shopping).  I don't think I've ever seen yellow tomatoes in the stores.

I'm ready for a nap.  That's what happens when you get old!

Jane, too late..but I did print off the recipe for next year. It sounds like a nice moist loaf too...could even put raisins or dates in it.

Phyliss, I find shopping one of the hardest things to do, when we head to the city there are so many stops to make plus need to stop also for the dogs. I am more than willing to put my feet up when we get home.

Gloria, I think that the reason I was tired is I did laundry then worked in the garden after taking the pine needles to the dump. I love today ,a day of rest and it is Kyle's birthday too!

Mary Ann that is one of my favourite pies. We had lemon layered cake for dessert and chicken soup....not in that order though :)

Amy, Happy Birthday to Kyle and I hope he has many more.

I like both Spring and Fall because of the leaf colors.  Our leaves haven't started turning yet, but next weekend is probably the weekend I would visit Tom and Sue up north if they were still married and lived north.  Our colors start a week or two after that.  I'm just glad I don't have to rake leaves now.  When I lived in Belmont MI, before I moved here (1981), I had a lot of oak trees in my yard and they would shed half in the fall and half in the Spring.  We had leaves ankle-deep and we'd rake them onto a tarp and haul them across the road to an unused spot in the cemetery.  Since then, that spot has been taken by burials.  The condo hires such work done, so I am off the hook!!!

As I awoke from my nap, Kendrick jumped on the bed.  He let me pet him a bit, even hold onto his tail.  Then he got up and walked to the foot of the bed and that's where he is now, a favorite place to lie.

I just noticed a couple of surfers in Lake Michigan and the water is choppy for them.

AMY, DARN!  I thought I might catch you before you dumped the tomatoes!  I was sitting here one day wondering what to do with all those green tomatoes.  I'd already had some fried.  And I decided to see if there were any recipes.  I found a bunch of them but the bread is really good.  Might try it with dried cranberries the next time.  I don't have raisins but I always have cranberries.

I was just waiting for Christy to check in after getting safely home.  She did and they are!  Now I can relax.  The chicks are all safely in the nest!

Think I'll go see what's on TV behind my eyelids.  I'm really worn out!  I don't want to miss anything when my kids gather so I keep moving.

Tomorrow is a work day so I'll be off to Wally World!  Wish me smiles!  And wish me one special customer to make my day!

My favorite pie is coconut, too, but I prefer the custard.  There's a local restaurant here that makes all of it's own baked goods and ice cream and they have the BEST coconut custard pie I've ever eaten.  Every time I go there, I bring a piece home to eat when I'm not so full.  Their food is plain cooking but the best.

I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Been busy cleaning out the motorhome... the cats do make a lot of wash loads with getting sick. Had to wash 3 of their beds, never did take out LaurenKat's because it sits over the driver's seat & Tiger likes to ride up there now & then. The other 2 are on the king size bed, plenty of room for me to sleep with 2 pet carriers & 2 cat beds on it.

Amy, glad to hear the good news about Kyle, especially welcome with it being his birthday, right?!! I had a neighbor come over when we had a big garden with lots of green tomatoes on the vines when a heavy frost warning.... she picked & took them to her basement & put on papers to ripen, said they were good up until near January! My mother could eat the yellow tomatoes because of less acid, so Dad would plant some every year. His favorites were the Berpee Big Boys & Better Boys & with their good ground his would be plate size & have the best flavor ever. I have not had ONE home grown tomato this year. Woe is me!

Mary Ann, glad your nose surgery is over & doing well. Any time "C" comes into the picture I think we all sort of melt. I do, the unknown.... My friend here used a nasal spray for osteoporosis that later was pulled with a warning that it might cause a hole in the nose.... although she wouldn't bother trying to pin blame on the company, but had to have a plastic surgeon close the hole recently. Did such a good job can't even tell where it was. By the way, my brother was 94 in Sept & still going strong, wish you could see him. I doubt that I will be in as good of shape as he is in 10 years. We all just learn to deal with how our bodies age, right?

I think I've mentioned before that my mother made a custard banana cream pie that absolutely melted in your mouth. I tasted it one time at a little French restaurant, same flavor, but nobody got Mother's recipe in time. It was never written down so when she tried to explain how to... was always something lacking that she must have done automatically and forgot when she wasn't making it as she tried to write down. I went to the same restaurant a few months ago but in the years since I tasted it before, they've quit making the old fashioned type.  Mother's was basically egg yolks cooked over a double boiler & after trying one time, never willing to gamble again. It was a throw away,  no way to rescue it!

Had long phone calls from my daughter & one son & see it is past bedtime. Got to get the clothes out of the dryer & will put the other load in but wait until morning to run, maybe run a little while to fluff & turn off...cat beds.

Lloyd, hope you do get time to enjoy "the fruits of your labor" for years to come. I was surprised at how many campers were at the lake this week, MID week.

A good Sunday night HELLO.  BUSY day, so I am just getting in here.

First of all......HAPPY BIRTHDAY greetings to you, PHYLLIS.  I am sorry to be so late to be wishing you this, but better late than never.  I do hope you enjoyed YOUR DAY.  Best wishes for many more!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to KYLE as well, AMY.  Seems you had a nice day, so I hope the Birthday Boy enjoyed his day!

We spent the night with the grands last night.  They are all a delight to be with and do very well for themselves, so not much for us to do at all.  Dave and Michele had a wonderful time at the friends 50th Bday celebration and we were so happy that they were able to get out socially and enjoy themselves.

My Broncos finally won their first game of the season today, so I am feeling much better about them.🏈🏈

CAROL, I do hope your son does well with the surgery.  You take care of yourself and come home as soon as you can.

SHIRLEY, so good to see you back from your trip to MO.  Glad you had a good time and everything went well.

Jonah turned 10 months old today.  He is walking more and more and even woke up with his two bottom teeth coming through❣️

Tomorrow Matthew has a playoff football game.  His team is 6-0.  They anticipate winning again tomorrow and the championship game will be played Wednesday.  He has really enjoyed playing and wants to continue again next year.

I guess I had best say goodnight and sleep tight.

Jenny

Good morning everyone a warm 66° after being in the 30's a few mornings ago. Don't know if it is from the stuff  put into me for the CT scan or what on Friday but all I have done is sleep. I slept Friday afternoon and was still in bed early. Slept most of the week end away. Cannot remember ever sleeping so much.

MARY ANN  have you ever had any vintage tomatoes? Talk about acid but they really are tasty. Both of my sons planted some this year. I love the red o because I think the acid gives them more flavor and I find the yellow ones have less flavor. That is what my taste buds tell me but we are all different.

AMY  wish Kyle a belated happy birthday for me. Yesterday was a day of rest for me, too. Did not even get dressed, stayed in nightgown and robe all day and slept most of the day away.

JANE  I never liked raisins so I use chopped dates or dried cranberries in place of them. Ahh like you coconut custard is what I would pick and I used to make often.

LLOYD  you are right we cannot take it with us so should enjoy what we have while we can.

SHIRLEY  I would not like a summer if I could not have native tomatoes. Glad both my sons share theirs with me. I can taste the difference between them, maybe because the soil is different? Even the temperatures are different being about 15 miles apart. My Mother never had a written recipe, she could never explain how or what she used, it was all automatic for her and she was a very good cook and baked the best pies-the pie crust she made with lard and was nice and flaky.

JENNY  so glad that Michele was able to go out  and enjoy herself. She has been through so much and I keep her and the family in my prayers.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Calling for rain this afternoon here. We were going to do a leaf colour trip but not sure ,tomorrow may be the better day.

Gloria, thank you I will tell him.Don't you just love a day of rest and yours was perfect to me.  I was just going to get into my pj's when a knock came at the door so glad I held off a bit!!

Jenny, thank you ,I will tell him. We ended the day by going out for ice cream at the dairy. They have tree sizes of cone...baby cone, small and HUGE...we always get the baby cone as it is more than enough for us.I asked her what huge was and she said three big scoops of ice cream!! Good to hear Michele felt well enough to go out.

Shirley, I have tried that with the tomatoes but usually end up with a smelly mess . I think the bears will enjoy them. What is worse packing or unpacking the motor home?
Better go take a look and see what the weather looks like, can see the sky now.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm up and attem and it's already a busy day.  I'm checking in now but I'm not sure when I'll be able to be back.  I work until one and then come home, see to the doggies and get myself ready for a dr. appt. a half hour away at 3:15.  Doesn't leave much time to visit with friends  And I suspect a lot of "tired" will kick in when I get home.  If you don't see me, I'll just be "catching my breath".

It's raining here and supposed to continue all day.  Not good for driving but in my opinion, better than bright sunshine.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Jane, I'm up but I don't know how much atem yet.  It is 9 am and at 10:15, Dot is picking me up to go to a funeral.  I'm dressed, but I have done nothing else, such as brushing my teeth or taking my pills (ugh!)

Gloria, I have never had a vintage tomato, nor a heritage tomato.  I grew a plant one year and had several tomatoes from it, but they were nothing to speak of.  Norm used to have one or two pots each year and when he would go to Florida in late September, I would be the beneficiary of what was left.  He grew some big tomatoes and I think he grew Beef Steak.  So much for my tomato knowledge.

My mother may have made pie crusts with lard, but I also remember Crisco being in the house and I used that when I baked things.  I really learned how to bake before learning how to fix meals and after Mother died, Dad did the cooking, and he was a good cook.  Now we don't have Crisco in the house but use butter.

I read where it is safe to eat red meat again, that it doesn't lead to heart problems.  I wish they'd make up their minds.

Time to get to the next step in getting ready for my day.  No one was up yet in Norm's Boat & Tackle.

Thank you, Jenny, for the birthday wishes.  You weren't late at all since yesterday was the day.

Amy, Kyle and I share the birthday.  Happy Birthday, Kyle!!!  I've always said that the best people were born in October.

Mary Ann, I have joined you in the Age 90 Club.  Yesterday I turned 90 and though you have a few years more than I do I just hope I keep doing as well as you have.

When my younger son and DIL visited a couple of weeks ago they gave me a nice early birthday dinner and cake and then yesterday they called with more birthday wishes.  I had a nice card and little present from David plus calls from my grandsons.  It was a nice birthday but I am trying to ignore the fact that it was my 90th!  :o

I made some apple sauce yesterday in the InstantPot.  It is first time I felt like doing much cooking in quite awhile.  We enjoyed the sauce a lot for dinner last evening.

Must get some breakfast and start my day.

Another quick note, seems I can't catch up! Who was it that ask if "worse to unpack or pack"? THIS time, because I didn't have a lot of time (roofers in the driveway), I just threw everything in & had to hunt for stuff all week, was a nightmare trying to drag things OUT because nothing was where it should have been. BUT, I'm going to fill up the elephant again to be ready for the next trip to MO. Family reunion this time & I do want to see the cousin that comes back from the east (my age) and I had to turn around half way last year because my son, Andy, was rushed to the hospital for heart surgery. Too many things lined up for October but November can be "iffy" weather in KS & MO.

Phyllis, one of my friends couldn't make it to the class reunion because her husband has the same problem you do, and I would not have understood if you had not explained to us how it affects you. She was so disappointed, we really do appreciate what it takes to get to those reunions, family or class. Happy 90th birthday to you... sounds like a good number to me. I really do think PT is the name of the game at our age.... and think I'll talk to my doctor to see if it might help my being so short winded. I do not believe my valve is ready to be replaced because I never felt any better AFTER they replaced it or the by-passes or stents. Never had PT so not sure how hard to push when walking, don't want to fall flat when nobody around to miss me.

This is not getting the show on the road.... & need to make the phone calls first. I was tempted to turn on the furnace to take the chill off last night but didn't want to have it do something awful. Think the warranty runs out this year but have not checked to see exactly when. The AC man mentioned it was the last year & we had both replaced at the same time... so... I want that inspection.  I hear roofers working near by so it will be difficult to get the RV out to gas her up. Still do have a couple dollars off on gas so can leave on a full tank that costs $35. less and when I get back can fill again with the other dollar off (for 35 gallons). It's nice to have the tank full so I can use it with generator should power go out in the house.

Gloria, I've never heard those terms for tomatoes... how I envy you the home grown ones!!!  I looked all over the towns I was in last week and didn't see any signs for apples. Used to be MO was known for their apples.... but where orchards WERE are now housing developments.

Would love to stay & visit/ask questions. Lloyd, what did you mean about an X friend & having to go to court?

Gotta go!!!  Love ya all.  Shirley

Phyllis, I'm never sure how I should act at my age.  I didn't have any teachers.  I manage to get around.  I'm glad I gave up driving when I did so no one had to take the keys away from me.  I miss driving only occasionally when I want to go to a particular store and Tom isn't available, or I don't want to bother him.  The funeral we went to today was for a woman 92.  Dot will be 90 next June.

Sounds like that "trying" day was going around!  I had one, too.  I decided that I don't like highway's in rainstorms.  This never used to bother me but today was a harrowing drive, to say the LEAST!  I was very happy to be back home.  And I have to go back next Tuesday for a check so I'm praying for a slightly cloudy day!

And now I'm off to bed also!  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow!

Good morning everyone, according to the weather guessers it is raining. just looked out but no rain here. Wrong again. love it. 56° 10 degrees cooler than yesterday.

PHYLLIS  I meant to wish you a belated birthday yesterday so now I am even later with it.

AMY  after I got home on Friday I got ready for bed  and I think I have finally caught up on my sleep, that is all I did for 3 days, sleep. This morning I feel wide awake at last. Enjoy your leaf peeping trip, wish I could be there with you to see the beautiful fall colors. Finally really starting to change here.

JANE  hope your doctor visit was good yesterday. My doctor called me yesterday to tell me the CT scan results were good, no problems. Was a relief to hear  that.

MARY ANN  both my DIL's use shortening for piecrust, I learned how to make it with Mazzola oil and always came out nice and flaky.

PHYLLIS  well if all good people were born in October I know 3 others  that were. My Mom and 2 sisters, on the 15-16-17 October.

SHIRLEY  I am glad both my sons plant a garden every year and share  with me. Several large orchards here and just across the border in Conn.

Have a good day.

GOOD MORNING!  And it seems like it's going to be for me, too, GLORIA.  I got up feeling rested and ready to meet the day.

GLORIA, I don't know if my dr. visit was good or bad yesterday because all she did was take some tissue from my mouth for a biopsy.  She said she wouldn't keep me on pins and needles and would let me know as soon as she has the results.  They did this about a year ago and she called me herself, on the morning of the 4th day following my visit.  They didn't find anything a year ago and I'm keeping good thoughts for this time.

The doggies are patiently waiting for the boinger and then I have to get busy putting things away.  My cleaning dynamo comes today and I'm one of those people who likes to keep everything handy so I'm not good at putting stuff away and I need to get things out of her way.

I need to go get another cup of coffee and the boinger only has about 10 minutes to go so .....

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning everyone..

I am up but not at'tem but that is just alright. Today we are heading out to see the leaf colours.
Yesterday was productive, I was in the garden pulling/cutting out wild raspberry canes when I disturbed a bees nest in the compost bin. Mercy did they fly out of there and I though ok will go help Kyle with the pine needles.  I am picking up the bunches of needles when it hit.lil stinker must have crawled down my sweatshirt to my waist and when I bent over he got me! I high tailed it to the house trying to get out of my clothes fast!! I was in the entryway and I could hear it flying so took the Raid to it. Think I was safe to put my jeans back on ,I got one leg in and it bit again!! Well, off they came again and inot the wash..that's enough of that. I quickly took 2 Benedryls and hoped for no reaction. Then when the bees quietened  down I took the tiller to the garden and this morning my muscles are yelling at me.

Gloria, that is a great relief to know your CT scan is good. I love this drive we are going on lots of colour to see.

Jane,I am praying that nothing will be found this time too!I need to do some cleaning in here but another day.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good mourning everyone. Amy sorry about the bee stings, honey or bumble Both hurt. mix backing soda and water in to a paste smooth it on the bites. several years ago I was bulldozing down some brush for a neighbor and knocked a dead tree with a large swarm of honey bees in it. they swarmed all over me and the dosser, they stung me hundreds if time, swelled my eyes shut in a couple minutes. I could not see. I was slowed to a walk from a run. called out to the lady at the house help I cant see. she called back stop acting up.I I said I am not acting up I have got stung all over my eyes are swollen shut. she then came to meet me and led me up to there porch I lay down on it. and she mixed the soda and made a paste all over my face,I was very sick at stomach for a while. it took a couple hours for the eyes to come back open. no fun to be stung. I have been stung with all of honey bumble and wasps, hornets at different times.if it happens again hurriey to the soda. Have a good day.

Mycheal, I like that very much. And I've adopted your term "seasoned".  A much nicer way to refer to those of us who are "mature".  Thank you.  It was so nice to find your post when I checked in to S&F.

Amy, ouch!  I hope the Benedryl did the job and you aren't having any bad results from the bee stings. I admit I'm envious of your leaf peeping drive.  When we lived in upstate NY I had to take a drive out into the beautiful countryside at least once during the Fall.  I always said I was restoring my soul.

Jane, I hope your doctor has called with good results of your biopsy.  I'm thinking positive thoughts.

Gloria, that is good news that the CT found that everything is OK.  I know you are relieved.  It's so nice that you have large orchards near you and that your sons take such good care of you.  I was a little disappointed in the apples that my ex-neighbor brought to me.  They are Stayman/Winesaps and they were huge.  When the Staymans were small they were packed with flavor and were my favorite for applesauce.  Now they are growing them very large and the flavor is no longer there.  I don't understand the growers going with very big, beautiful to look at fruit.....with no flavor.

Shirley, the therapist said there was no reason that I couldn't walk as much as I feel like doing.  It is the best exercise for older people.  However, I do use my Rollator.  The balance is better but not good enough to walk without an aid.  But, you do more than enough to keep up your exercise.  I can't imagine doing all that you do.  It exhausts me!

Please take care, Everyone, and MAKE it a good day!

So far, it's been a pretty good day!  And it sounds like the rest of you (except AMY) are doing OK, too.  I'm hoping AMY doesn't have any lasting sore spots from the bees, too.

I'm thinking that when my daughter drives me to the chiropractor, we'll go the scenic way instead of the direct.  The leaves should be in their glory by that time.

I think I'll adopt "seasoned" also.  It really fits!  MYCHEAL, what you wrote was lovely!  Please do it again when the feeling strikes you!

I made the green tomato bread today and it yummy.  I think it might even beat the zucchini bread by a small taste.  But they're both yummy.  I also made up a container of cole slaw with the cabbage and carrots left from the veggies soup.  I added the leftover chopped green tomatoes and a nice fresh red sweet pepper from the Farmstand.  That was my lunch!

The gardening guy was here and trimmed back my Rose of Sharon bushes and cut back a lilac bush that really needs some love and attention.  And if it doesn't do anything next Spring, it'll be getting a replacement!  And I think I'll go out there and tell it so.  Do you think it will listen and shape up?

Now, I'm going down to the corner to get the mail and then take the doggies out and get the trash ready for the dumpster.  That's my day!  I love a day like this!

What a lovely day! We struck out around 8:30 and thought we were just going to go over to another town but the scenery was beautiful so we did about  118 miles and saw a lot of lovely leaf colours. The reds were so vibrant especially when framed in the dark green of the pines. I don't think Kyle was as excited about the leaf colours but enjoyed the trip also.

Tomorrow we are on the road again, this time to the audiologist for new hearing aids. These new ones won't need batteries  all you do is charge the existing one in them. Isn't modern technology grand?

Jane, the spots are now itchy but this too shall pass.
There were a lot of folks out looking at the leaves and lots of bus tours also.

Mycheal, I too will adopt your "seasoned". what a cute way of putting it. One girl I talked with called  us vintage....at least she didn't say antiques! :)

Phyliss, the peeping went on and on......all the way home. I just love Fall.

Lloyd, thank you, I did make a paste up and put it on. Wow, you really had a time with the bees, glad all worked out for you in the end. I gave the compost bin a pokee tonight and no bees came out so maybe the cold water from the home moved them on...I hope!!

Played Frisbee with both dogs and now I am ready to put my feet up.

HELLO EVERYFRIEND ❣️

I can't let another day pass with out checking in❣️  The all seem to just pass by so quickly I have a hard time keeping up🙀🙀

AMY, I am so sorry to read about the bee stings! That is so miserable, especially when it happened more than one time.  I do hope the Benadryl worked for you.  I hope you and Kyle enjoyed the drive around viewing the beautiful colored trees.  We never did make it on our drive, but people have posted so many pictures and the news has been covering it well so I do not feel cheated.

JANE, I do hope the biopsy will come back saying it is negative again!  Did I miss you telling about your car being fixed?  It must be as you have been driving it!  Hope it was nothing too expenses fix!

GLORIA, so happy you heard from your doctor and your CT scan is clear of anything bad!

PHYLLIS, I like MYCHAELS and now your term of being "seasoned people" as well!  I told my Dad today about it and he said he is VERY SEASONED! 😍. It is good to read that you are feeling well enough that you are doing a little bit of cooking.

SHIRLEY, it is great to have you back.  Glad you enjoyed your time away and the kitties were good.  It is hard to believe it has been a year since you had to cancel your trip to the reunion due to Andy's heart surgery and yet, it also seems longer ago than that.  I know that sounds goofy, and that I am, but I seem to feel that way about a lot of th8ngs these days.  Time is just flying by!

MARY ANN, my Dad said the same thing as you....he does not know how he should act at age 95 as he has never spent time with anyone THAT OLD!  Seems that many do not even have funerals anymore.....and some folks are so old they do not even have friends to even attend a service.  I am glad that you and Dot were able to go.

Matt had his playoff football game yesterday, and they won 14 - 0.They were 6-0 for the season.  Tomorrow is the championship game and there is a very good possibility it may be SNOWING🤬🤬. He had a wonderful season and really enjoyed playing a lot, so will more than likely want to go again next year.  His mom and I prefer him to stick to his tennis of which he is very good at rather than football, but I do not think we have a vote!

EDIT:
LLOYD, I forgot to mention your comments about the bee stings you also received.  YIKES that sounded awful and crazy that the lady thought you were kidding!

AMY, happy you had such a nice day and that the stings did not get you down!  How exciting to have hearing aids with out needing batteries, as I have heard the batteries need changing out very often.

JANE, I KNOW for certain I have never had green tomato bread!

I hope you all have a good evening.

Jenny

Jenny, Congratulations to Matt and his football team with a good season.  I'm glad your dad felt as I did with no one to train us how 95 should feel.  Kindred souls.

I, too, notice many people do not have funeral services.  I wonder if cremation has contributed to that.  A well-known sports writer here, died last week.  He did have an obit, but requested no service.  I told Tom I did not need a service, but services are for the living so he can do what he wants.  I will be cremated.

It gets dark so early now; I have to turn on the outside light for Tom.

I did get the bedding put back on in the RV, smells so good, used some new type pods. Drained the gray water & also the fresh water left in the tank, so ready to roll again. Still have not discovered WHY I don't get any display on the screen for all the choices of what I want to happen... and no back up cameras. Guessing I've pushed a button somewhere to turn it off, but I have pushed everything in sight without it turning on so will have to take it to the electronics doctor, not sure who that might be. Since the furnace company said they can't come until Nov 18 I decided turning on heat would not wait that long. Andy showed up & gave it a quick going over & replaced the filter in the humidifier, turned it on & called it good. Supposed to get to the mid 30 by Friday night so thinking it may need to come on then. I am so happy with COOL weather. No pretty leaves here, some are looking dead (leaves) & dropping but no color.

Amy, my heart stopped at the thought of bees dive bombing you! I use the same remedy as Lloyd, paste of baking soda. I am very careful since we have mud daubers everywhere here, building their mud houses all over the brick. I spray with that stuff that will spray 20 feet & if any come out mad, I race inside. I can't take benedryl so am chicken!

Jane, prayers for a good report .... and Gloria, congratulations for your "pass" on the test!

Jenny, like you, one way the year flew by but another way it seems lots longer than a year. Love your avatar... too bad my grands are too old and great grands too young. Always match making in the head when I see a exceptional "kid", your gr-daughter is darling. Glad to read your father is still hanging in & so sharp. One of our class leaders was distraught because his wife, as vivacious as always, is in early stages of Alzheimers. He said she wouldn't remember anything she said or did 5 minutes later. I would not have guessed the way she talked & handled herself.

Mary Ann, hope your nose is healing okay. When I think of how much all your "kids" (Norm's) care about you I always think of my one aunt that didn't have any kids of her own, but we all (50+ first cousins) thought WE were her favorite because she had a way of making us each feel special. None of the other adults ever meant as much (except parents) as the one aunt. Her twin had one son but as a people watcher, she showed him the same affection that she showed the rest of us. You have such a great relationship & attitude with Tom, he is lucky to have you.

I better get ready for bed. Extra sleepy tonight. Did not get the pool cleaned so that is first on the agenda tomorrow. Hugs to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Good morning everyone.

Will make this quick as we are off to the city soon.

Shirley, I have pushed the wrong button on the van and ended up with French instead of English ...but did find a way to put it back.

Jane, isn't it nice when you can say good bye to those little jobs? Those are the ones that bother me most.

Better get moving here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, not so nice today, 50°-that is about normal but there is an ocean storm moving in and will have rain all day and into tomorrow according to the weather guessers. Cannot complain because we do need the rain but I am thinking it will be worse along the shoreline than here. They were saying we will have strong winds up to 50 mph and with the trees still having leaves it could mean branches or trees blown over.

JANE  hope you hear from your doctor PDQ about the biopsy. If you are like me you worry about the result from the time of the procedure till you hear. I was relieved when mine called Monday to tell me every thing was OK. Like you I keep things handy because it is a pain to reach into the cupboards to reach for anything. Only thing handy is the cutlery so usually put all that away.

AMY  never had a bee sting but a hornet got up my jeans leg and got me on the back of the knee, that was horrible. Trees where I am are just really showing color now so I hope this storm we are expecting is not as bad as they are talking about. I know you and Kyle enjoyed your trip to see the foliage.

LLOYD  baking soda is so good for a lot of things and I use it and vinegar to clean the sink drains once a month. put a cup of it in the drain and add vinegar till it boils up and leave it for 30 minutes before running hot water into the drain. Keeps it from smelling, too.

PHYLLIS  I was hoping my son and DIL would take me for a ride to see the colorful trees but I will not ask. They do watch their grandson-my great grand- a few days a week and he is a handful at 4 years old but so darn cute. I remember the first time I bought Winesap apples I used only 4 of them to make a pie they were so big.

Yikes just heard the latest weather report and they have rain in the forecast till Sunday.  Glad I do not have to go anywhere. going to be more than the nor'easter we are in for.

JANE  lilac bushes usually end up doing better after a good pruning but might take a year to show it.

AMY 118 miles! you sure saw a lot of  God's rainbow of colors on the earth.

JENNY  I have a folder full of autumn photos and right now I have it set as a slide show on my monitor and I just sit here at times looking at them change and love every one of them. By now I think everyone knows it is my favorite time of year. Glad no one in my family went out for football. It is such a rough game now, like hockey, that has gotten too rough now, too.

MARY ANN  I have told my family for years I want no wake or anything when I go. If people cannot come and see me when alive I do not want them there when I go.

SHIRLEY  I have read that the best time to spray for hornet nests is at sunset when they are all going in for the night, that way they are trapped inside and die. Don't know anything about mud daubers, don't have them here.

My CNA did something to her left leg Monday and could hardly walk so I sent her home after an hour. She called me yesterday saying she was on her way to the doctor. I hoped the head of the group would send someone but never heard anything. I called the office in the afternoon and she didn't know that my regular lady was not here. She called me back later and said that my regular lady was out for the rest of the week and she had someone to send today. Good it is laundry, now will see what she does for the rest of the week. There are just too many things I cannot do even if I try.

Have a good day.

Thank you, Jackie.  It is so nice that you were thinking of me and it was thoughtful of you to send me a birthday message.

All is well here.  We need some rain but so far we are getting only cloudy, dreary days with some wind.  Autumn is typically our dry season so this is not unusual.

I'm running late today so will keep this short.  Just want to let all of you know that I'm hoping for a good day for everyone of you.

Got to get busy but wanted to check on y'all before I fix my 2nd breakfast. Got up about 2:00 am starved, so came in & fixed myself 2 poached eggs on crackers... lots of butter melted in it because I like my egg yolk firm. My mother used to fix with crackers when we were little & needed something special. My daughter loved them & still feeds to her kids when they come. She has already started her grands on them & found something they will eat to the last morsel. Might be something you have to learn to like when a kid, just crumble several soda crackers into a mug, big chunk of real butter, pop the poached egg on top & add more butter & couple more crackers crumbled over & mix. I had not fixed one for years until my daughter was raving about how much her grands enjoy... no egg poacher so used a little gizzmo for fixing an egg in the microwave. Rubbed the bottom with butter & cracked the egg in & used a plastic fork to stir so egg doesn't explode... less than a minute in the mic. & dumped into the crackers & butter. Cup of warmed over coffee & went back to bed with a smile on my face & tummy happy. Going to cook a bowl of oatmeal (original) & have my oatnut bread & then get busy. It rained with lots of thunder & lightning after I got up at 2:00 am. Poor Tom went out at that time, before any sign of storms & as is his habit, goes into hiding until all the noise is over. He showed up a little while ago with eyes big from being afraid.

Gloria, I do the same for cleaning all drains... soda & vinegar. Sorry about your CNA's leg, know how you have appreciated  this one. Good luck with the replacement.

Jane, I have some crepe myrtle bushes for the first time & wondered if they should be trimmed. Right now they look pretty gangly... They are the pink, not as pretty as that bright red across the street but bloomed a long time. Forsythia bushes in the berm went wild this year, smothered out the surprise lilies from my mother. I'd love to dig one of the forsythia out & move to the river bank, but too much rock in the berm to dig & don't think I could do it anyway. Around here stuff grows where it wants or doesn't grow at all.

OOps, son called & needs to swing by to pick up his "mirror extenders" for his car... uses when pulling the camper or a trailer so he can see all the way back. He is helping his daughter move this week... big house & lots of work to move the little stuff before the movers come for the furniture & appliances. Gotta run.  Hugs to all.  Shirley

Back from town and glad to be home, everything has been put away and now  one can relax.

Gloria, I hope they sent a CNA to help you today. Last time I was stung I ended up on antibiotics but all is well this time. We have lots of hornets about now..guess they are looking for a place to winter.

Shirley,  I sleep better with a full tummy, lights out in no time.
Will go and see what I can avoid doing :)

Home from the football game and our team won, 14 - 0!  The team was SO excited.  We nearly froze to death.....horrible winds and the dust was awful.  When we arrived at the field the temperature was 78 degrees and when the game was over the temp had dropped to 40 and it continues to fall.

SHIRLEY, your eggs and crackers sounds quite interesting....I might just have to try it!  Nothing like a full tummy to help you sleep, right?

GLORIA, I hope your son and dil will take you out for some color viewing!  I have sent my dad several pictures every day of the beautiful colors here on Colorado and he has been loving them.  I am glad that you can watch your slide show! Nice.

AMY, did Kyle get his hearing aids today or was he just measured for them?

My Boston Grandsons called to wish me a good Yom Kippure.....they did not have school today due to this holy day.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I see I didn't check in yesterday.  I came home from work and the cleaning dynamo was here.  She's on a different day due to an accident in her family.  Her son's car left him sit and the person he called at the end of his shift (5 a.m.) didn't show to pick him up so he started walking home (4 miles away).  On the way, he was hit by a truck and she's been busy caring for him ever since.  It was touch and go at first but it looks like after a very long recovery period, he's going to make it.  Prayers for A.J.  would help from anyone who would like to remember him.

After she left, I just collapsed, more or less.  The house was clean and she'd had the dogs out all the time she worked on the porch so they didn't need anything.  I conked out!  Ant with the exception of waking up for supper and taking the doggies out a ouple of times, I zonked!  This morning I feel a lot better!

JENNY, congrats to the football team and to the other kids who are learning about holidays celebrated by other cultures.  Grandchildren are so much fun!

SHIRLEY, I like the sound of those eggs and I might have to try them, too.  They sound easy to do, too.

I have no plans for today and I must say, I'm not one of those who are looking forward to winter.  I think I hate being cold even more than I hate being hot.  I spend my days in many layers of clothes and sometimes even wrapped in blankets.  It was down into the high 40s overnight and will only be into the high 50s today.  I used to love winter when I was a kid....ice skating, sledding, having snowball fights, whatever the neighborhood kids thought up but I'm not a kid any more and my neighbors are not into ice skating and I'm not sure I could stand up on skates any more.

I love to see the first snowfall and I even like to be out walking in it but I DON'T like shoveling it!  And I don't like the large bank of dirty snow that the plow deposits at the end of the road.  It remains all winter and that's what I see every time I come home or leave.

BOY!  That was a lot of griping!  I'm sorry about that.  Maybe I didn't recover as much as I thought from sleeping.  It looks like it's going to be a pretty day out there and I don't really have to go anywhere so it's going to be a good one.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Jane, hope you can enjoy today just taking it easy. Prayers for A.J for a speedy recovery.

Jenny, bet you enjoyed the game despite the cold! Kyle has to go back for the fitting as yesterday was just a hearing test.

Good morning everyone, slept later than I have been and it must be the rain that did it. Not bad here and wind not bad either. Along the shore line it is high waves on Block Island and the other islands they are having 25 feet high waves, imagine anything in the path of waves that high?  I have a niece and her family that live on Martha's Vineyard off the Mass. coast, hope they are OK. They have ferry boats out to the islands and they were docked at noon yesterday till after this nor'easter blows away.

SHIRLEY  the CNA yesterday was very nice. She was telling me she mostly works in Hospice and I bet she is great with those people who need her caring personality. Today I get a different one again. It is all the little thing and boxes that are a pain to move, I remember how it was when I moved here. Good luck to your son and grand daughter.

AMY  glad you were no affected with the bee sting. My daughters younger son was stung a few years ago and rushed to the emergency room, his throat was closing up and now he has to keep one of those epic pens with him in case it happens again. When I was suffering with gerd I was told not to eat anything for 2 hours before going to bed and that was years ago so still make sure I eat anything after a certain time.

JENNY  like your new avatar with the happy football player. He is a good looking boy. How nice to hear from your Mass. grandsons.

LLOYD  sorry the thunder woke you.

JANE  hope your cleaning lady's son is well on the road to recovery and has no ill lingering after being hit by a truck. Glad you got some good sleep. I still prefer winter to summer heat.

AMY  I bet you were tired out after 2 busy days driving. Even an hour in a car now wears me out.

Have a good day.

I decided to do laundry today.  There isn't a lot of it and I don't have to stand and watch it or stir it while it "cooks".  I don't mind the folding and putting away and it's nice to have clean clothes.

Hi GLORIA, you've been beating me here the last few days.  I wondered where you were.  Nice to be able to sleep in a bit longer.

LLOYD, that's good advice you gave me and that's what I try to do every day.  If it doesn't get done, it'll be there tomorrow.

When Christy was here, I came in and saw her sitting on the floor in front of one of my cabinets.  I asked her if she found anything interesting.  She said she'd been wondering what I kept in there because it had originally been designed to hold LP records.  I had converted it to holding knitting books and patterns a long time ago and she was intrigued.  I told her if she found anything interesting she could have it.  I think she took about a dozen patterns and one book home with her.

She also admitted that she'd looked in some other storage areas on occasion.  I asked her if she found anything interesting.  She said she did and I said, "Did you take it."  She was shocked and said she'd never do that.   I told her to help herself because that would be more stuff she wouldn't have to go through after I'm gone.  I also told her if she's really interested in my junk storage she could help me clean out the room I call my "attic".  I think that got her interest.

OK, now I'm done boring you with my life's trivia.  You can get on with whatever interests you.  ENJOY!

Good Day all: I have been in Montana staying with a son who was expecting a surgery but the insurance company (had promised) and then could not decide whether to cover a $20,000 surgery he needs. So, son will have to wait who knows how long and I flew home. The best part is that we had a wonderful visit.

Today, a granddaughter is staying with us as a bit of a snow storm is happening and she lives a long drive from work.  Love it when she visits about one night per week - she has a long commute.

Jenny: Best to you and Bob.  This whirlwind year will be a glad thing to get over - but I try to remember all the good things too.

I do not always keep up with a note to each of you but do hope you all are doing well.

Starting to prepare for a long drive next.

Good Morning Everyfriend...those who have been here and those who will come and those who might not have time for a visit today!  I guess that covers everyone!

We have a temp of 43 and cloudy right now and it's only going to a high of 70 today.  I think Fall is upon us!  Around my immediate area some of the trees have changed only on the very tops and some leaves have fallen but the bulk of the change is yet to come.  I've heard that about 25 miles away up in the mountains, the leaves are changing more rapidly.

We've been up and out and we're waiting for the boinger.  When it goes, our day will beging with a bang.  It's a WM day today so I'll be off to greet my public.  As for the rest of the day, the only thing I MUST do is see to the doggies needs and grind coffee!  I think I can handle that...maybe even a couple of odd jobs in addition!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone, slept later this morning and I like that. 52° and still raining here and the dampness is getting into these old bones of mine. All I want to do is lay down and not move but that is not good. Coffee tastes great and warm. Turned the thermostat up to almost 80 and the witch would yell at me if she saw that. She wants us to not turn it up above 68 but she sits in her office with a heater on plus the baseboard heat and is nice and warm. She is seldom here on Friday but with bad weather she just might be in today.

JANE  when I moved I told my sons and DILs if they saw anything they want to take it. We really collect stuff when we live in one place for years. Your posts are never boring.

CAROL  these insurance companies we pay for sure hate to pay for anything whether it is needed or  not. I hope your son's insurance will wake up and OK the surgery he needs.

LLOYD  now you know we would not hit you with anything worse than a wet noodle. That would not hurt you.

AMY  it was noisy here when the painters were here finishing painting the building, living on the top floor I can imagine what it would sound like have a new roof put on.

JANE  there is a small river a ways back of this property and along both sides of it there is quite a bit of color. At times when I go down stairs I will look out the window in the laundry room and can see the beautiful colors. The maple trees in front are getting more red every day. We had a lot of rain but not the wind from this nor'easter that they had along the shore and the islands and out on Cape Cod. Have a lo t of smiles a t WM today.

AMY  real little cutey.

Have a good day.

Good morning!  Sorry I didn't post yesterday but it was one of those "lost" days so spent most of it in the recliner.  Felt better toward evening and seem to be doing OK this morning.  I am going to try to get the grocery shopping done and I really need to get my flu shot!

I wondered if you would have trouble with the Nor'easter, Gloria.  Glad it didn't give you any wind.

Jane, you are ahead of us on the tree color.  There are some subtle changes but mostly we are just having a lot of leaves down because we really need rain.  I hope WW is good for you today.

Carol, glad you are back home.  Hope the insurance company will come around for your son.

Jenny, I read about the extreme drop in temps. in Denver.  It sounds as though we all are going to have a crazy cold winter but you are sure starting early out their in the West.  I'm sorry you had to be out in it but the team winning their game made it easier to go through, I think.

Amy, brrrr for your temps.  We are supposed to be up near 80 F. today.

Lloyd, we would never hit you but do like to hear from you when you feel like posting something.

Take care, Everyone.

Frost is now disappearing, the roofers are hammering sending both dogs into a frensy!! They will likely be done around noon, as it wasn't a big area but one that is starting to curl. Oh, I hear quiet inside and out..got to love a break

It is a frosty morning here and snow is on the ground.  Granddaughter just left for her job which is a much shorter drive than she would have from her home.  She likes to take one night per week to stay with us - and we adore her, of course.

The insurance company OKed paying for the necessary surgery for son in Montana.  A neighbor has volunteered to stay on top of things if he has any problems - he has great neighbors.

Amy: That is a cute picture. Great news that your roof is being fixed right now.

Gloria:  Shame on that wicked woman - cannot believe she wasn't fired and jailed by now.  Call a radio station or a pastor - call anyone who will listen.  This has been going on too long.

I was fortunate to fly out of Missoula (a long drive from son's house) a day ahead of a 5 hour delay of the same flight at the airport before boarding the next day.

A late good morning to all the friends here,

I have been missing for a couple days.  Like Phyliss, I have had some lazy days.  My recliner just keeps calling me.  I have a heating element in my recliner, and it is just enough to warm me up instead of turning on the heat.

Our mornings have been chilly, but is still warms up enough to make it a nice afternoon.

Gloria, I also will turn my thermostate up to 80 sometimes if I get too cold.  Fortunately, I pay my own heating bill, so I am the one responsible. But, I can certainly understand how frustrating the residents at your place must be with the very unkind manager you have.  So many of the residents here do not like the manager, but I have not had any problems with her. I don't know what problems some of them have with her.  I say Hello and that is about all the contact I have with her, except to hand her my rent check and sign my lease once a year.  I do know that she is out of the office more than she is in. She seems to take an awful lot of days off, and our activity girl has to pick up a lot of her work.  I think that is what really bothers the people more than anything.  And, I do know the activity girl gets very upset at times.  Even to the point where she is in tears.  It takes a special person to deal with older people.  We had a man manager several years ago, and he was the best one we have had.  I think the current one is the 8th manager since I have been here. Almost 12 years now.

Jane, when I get finished here, I am going to put the recipe for the Autumn Soup. I will let you know just where I will put it. I know that Larry did a great job organizing all the recipes and if there is one for soup, that is where I will put it.  But, I will post a message when I have finished.

Hope you have a great day at Walmart.  I have decided I am going back to ordering my groceries from there.   I was getting them delivered from Weis, but I did not like the idea that they charged an annual fee, plus the customer did not receive sale prices on their orders.  When I ordered, my actual total was sometimes close to $10 different from what they charged me. And, when I asked about that, they told me that it was because the extra money went towards the cost for the delivery and the shopping for the items.  I just didn't feel like that was right.  So, I am going back to Walmart.  Even tho I am not real crazy about the produce from Walmart, so far, it seems to be ok.  I think I had read somewhere that the ones who shop for people's orders are told to pick produce very carefully. So, I am hoping that is true.

Hope everyone has a good day. I am off to get that recipe put in/

I just put the recipe for the Autumn Soup in the Cooking Section.  I  didn't know how to put the recipe in the itemized section that Larry had made. If somebody else knows how to do that,  hope you  will do that.

Bubble, would you know how to add recipes to then special recipe sections that Larry had set-up??

I am sure there is a way,  but I don't know how to do that.  Thanks in advance if it can be done.

Joy, at the risk of repeating myself over and over, we order our groceries online.  I pay an annual fee which covers the cost of the shoppers, who usually are young women.  Tom lets them know when he wants to check out and what time he wants to pick up the order.  When the order is ready, Tom gets a call from the supermarket and he goes after it.   Actually, everything is done by e-mail, not phone.

Since I no longer drive, if something would happen to Tom, I'd switch supermarkets to one where they deliver, also for a yearly fee.  The first store does not allow tips but the second one does.  The young ladies who do our shopping do a good job and I have been pleased with the produce.  The way we have it now is most convenient although I am sure Tom would feel the delivery is more convenient.  For him to go after the groceries, bring them home and put them away takes between 45 min and an hour.  I could not shop in person in any shorter time.

Joy, thank you, sounds like the perfect soup for this weather.

Roofers are gone....not a sign they were here other than a new roof!!

MaryAnn, we live way out and no delivery here. Takes us 15 min to get into town to get them. I usually stock up on things we use most.

I love this quiet,no banging........no barking......sigh..peaceful day..

Amy, if I had a car and still drove, I probably would go to my favorite supermarket and shop.  I enjoyed looking at various products and maybe trying something new out.  But delivery is a great convenience for Tom, who doesn't really enjoy shopping but does it when necessary.  He took over for me shortly after he moved here and when online shopping became available suggested we do that.  Two supermarkets are within two miles of our condo.  As I mentioned, the one we go to does not deliver and the other one does.  Both charge a yearly fee.  If I lived as far as you do from the store, I'd stock up too.

Phyllis, I'm watching Championship Golf from Cary NC.

Let me tell you about a doozie of a week..... Since I can't seem to get things done (like finish with the gutters so I can pay off the roofer & settle insurance) and yard in dire need of TLC... I called the pool guy yesterday to see when he could come close... called back with "how about tomorrow". Ok, but will have to hustle to be ready for them by 9:00am. Then I decided to take my daughter & friend's advice & call Home Advisor for help with the yard, need to tear down a small building & haul off, & few other chores. Got online & couldn't find any place to have them say, "you need someone give an estimate". So I got off & went on with my day. Little while later a call from a lady with Home Advisor (we all now how we are tracked, right?) She had all the information I typed in (including my name, address & phone number). She wanted to confirm the work done on my "project" & gave me a price that I didn't really think enough to do the work. I kind of hesitated so she said I could have a discount! Again I hesitated, she had already given me a date & time, but she said, "sorry, that time has already been taken.. so another offer plus a lower estimate with only 2 & 1/2 hours work. Again I am shocked that the quote is so cheap... but okay..... who doesn't like cheap?  Have to give credit card info up front & I'm wondering if the price drop was just to get the credit card info to run a scam.... seems reasonable to me. The lady called me, so I wasn't positive who I might be talking to. She said a call center in Vermone. Few minutes later I checked e-mail & had a confirmation for the service.... only it was addressed to "Jake" instead of my name. Strange phone number but my house address & e-mail. Then while I am thinking that over, another e-mail confirming the job...addressed to JAKE. So I called my bank (after hours) & explained the situation & concern that someone out there has information with MY credit card on & I needed to make sure it was not used again. The lady suggested just closing that credit card & getting a new one.  The price for the project had already been deducted so hopefully someone will come on Monday & do the job. Today I called the number in the e-mail addressed to Jake.... to let him know about the mix up. A girl's voice "leave a message" so I asked for Jake to call this number back. NO call back.

Then I called the number for Home Advisor listed in Jake's message & finally got a human to talk to. This guy was as confused as I am, he checked (at my suggestion) the phone number & name on the e-mails I had... and I even went into my account with Home Advisor & settings because it had a password & I had never set up an account with a password. "I forgot my password" so got the e-mail how to change, only it would not change & the human I talked to later couldn't change it either. The phone number listed for "Jake" was to a different state/city than the name.

I've been to the bank to sign up for a new credit card. The old one was debit card so I had a separate account set up that I funded to order cat food from Chewy once a month. More delay since they have to wait to make sure no other withdrawals are around for that account. Bottom line is having to trash my debit card, apply for credit card & hope that Monday someone will come do the job already paid for.

If that doesn't make the brain rattle... got the water & gas bills in the mail today & they were double what I expected. The electric company is merging with another so did a double check & discovered I had NOT PAID last month's bill. Checked the gas with same conclusion... my check book shows not paid!! Since my son said last week that he had already renewed his car tag & paid the taxes on it... I gulped & mentioned I had not gotten my notice! Called that department next day & was told they had mailed notices several weeks ago but I "could go down to the DMV & they could pull up the records & I could pay in person." Not sure what day I have open for that standing in line, but gotta be this week. So now I have 3 pieces of mail not delivered.... I think I've mentioned before that our postal carriers sometimes don't read good or pay attention & put mail in wrong mailboxes. With empty houses because several widows are in nursing homes & one in re-hab, those mail boxes don't get checked too often. Quite a problem & my poor brain is reeling.....  :crazy2:  :uglystupid2:  :idiot2:

I've called the manufacturer of the RV to see if they can tell me a probable location of the fuses for the back up cameras, radio & electronics on the dash... recording says they are open Monday through Friday, but it was Thursday & said it was closed! I managed the last trip without those "luxuries" but would be nice to use what we bought, right? The RV manufacturer removed the radio that Ford put in so they could have back up cameras.... somebody forgot to furnish a manual with directions to operate. Ah, well, nobody promised an easy life, right?  I think I need a nap~~

Shirley, have you tried looking in the internet for a fix for your RV? Type in year make and where is the location of the fuse panel for what you are looking for.
I needed to check out something for the snowblower and did that and got an answer to my problem.

I don't know who gets into more interesting situations than Shirley.  I hope everything comes out in the wash!

Even though he's a Mac man, when/if I have computer problems, Tom is usually able to help me out of trouble.

It is drizzling here at present and I know our temps are headed down.  We are at 60 degrees now and snow looks like it is about two days away.  I can wait!

SHIRLEY, sometimes I think you are a lot like my husband.  He used to say that if he didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all.  He also told someone once that he was so unlucky that if he was starving to death and it was raining soup he'd be standing there with a fork.  I'm not sure who has more misfortunes....you or LLOYD.  You just have different ones.  Slow down!  Stop and think!  Then think again!

Sorry I dumped on everyone while ago, just so stunned at all that went on I had to blab or cry! I do agree, Jane, that it is a case of too much going on to cope with. Think a good night sleep will help & eventually it will all level out. Either the worker comes Monday to do the job or I lose that chunk of money, could be worse. Have a super busy week ahead so hopefully all will go smoothly.

Mary Ann, I am surprised that at my grocery store a whole row of parking places has been taken over by the "store shoppers". It is fun to pick out the mostly girls I see doing the shopping, very serious & intense about their choices. It is a big help to a lot of people, especially ones with small babies or older that don't drive or just can't hold up for shopping. I can remember when I was little & someone sick, didn't think anything of calling the grocery store & giving a list to be delivered. I also remember that when one of us kids got to go pay the bill, the grocery store man would give us a treat. Do you remember "smoozies"?

Pretty cold here, cats all went back out after their supper, but sticking close & expect they will stay inside tonight. The "feels like" will be below freezing but think actual right at freezing. I don't have the RV winterized so hope not a hard freeze for a few weeks yet. Got a family reunion in MO the end of the month & hoping the maples will be fired up. We do not have any pretty color here, leaves just dead looking right now.

Going to take care of cats, clean the kitchen & go to bed. Sweet dreams to all... can you believe another week end????

Shirley and Jane (and others) - I don't do nearly the work that you two do but I find I'm always busy.  I realize I am a "project" person as I have genealogy stuff to keep up to date, finances to update, watch certain things on the computer - this folder and others, for example.  All of this takes time.  I wish I were more disciplined but I'm not as I can get carried away with any of my projects.  I used to feel ashamed at my lack of results but I don't now.

Now I'm going to see what I can find to eat.

I hope you all have a great day.  we are not. Lawyer told us we could most likely win our case, but would cost us at leas $30,000 to beat it. principally yes it would be good. but $ wise our pockets are not that deep. the old hand shake is not good enough any more. if a deal is good just put it down with a Good Lawyer and have it registered in court. we are loosing our home. Have a good day. even though the Layer says we stand a good chance in court.Nancy said lutes get away from him and start over some place else.

Good morning every one, once I am wide awake really early, but I think I was asleep by 8:30 last night. It was another rainy day and gloomy. Hope today we will get a glimpse of the sun. 51° now at 3:45. I had another different CNA yesterday, one I had before. Early 30's a single mom with a girl of 7 and a boy of 5 and she is taking classes in nursing. She has ambition and a very pleasant person. I had to send her to the store for milk and eggnog. I was almost out of milk and I do need it for my coffee and cereal. My son brought me some eggnog a week ago and I was surprised it was out already. Usually it is not out till closer to Thanksgiving, I do love eggnog.

PHYLLIS  we had wind most of the week but nothing like along the south coast where they had gusts of 60 mph, what we had I think the highest I heard was 35 and not many of them.  If I had gone outside I would have put on a winter jacket. Glad you started feeling better Thursday? evening.

AMY  I can imaging both dogs upset with all the noise of the roofers hammering away. Your sunflower looks like some of the pictures my daughter sent me, she does love them and always plants some every year.

CAROL  the company loves the witch because she is goo with the book work and saves them money by being cheap in the building. I have been here more than 5 years now and more petitions have been signed and sent off and we did have a meeting with someone from the main office and the witch was better for a month and went right back to being a WITCH. Some here call that spelled with a B. So glad that your son's insurance finally OK'd the surgery for your son. Of course after you left him.

JOY  I don't even talk to the manager anymore and many want nothing to do with her. She is still nice to all the new ones we have been getting. Several of the ones who were here from when the building opened 14 years ago are leaving because they cannot take her anymore. There is a slot out side her office and I drop my rent in there when she is not in her office. Of course I have to go ‌to her office once a year and when she comes up to inspect my apartment before she OKs me for another year. Autumn Soup? Bet that is good and I do love home made soup all year. I have never checked out the cooking section, I mostly just come in here and also check the cards folder to get jealous with the wonderful creations Bubble and Patricia make. If I could trust this lemon of a computer I think I would get back into PSP again.

MARY ANN  if I could get into a market for groceries I think it would take me more than an hour checking every thing new and things that might tempt my non existing appetite.

AMY  ah peace and quiet at last?

SHIRLEY  looks like someone hacked into your computer or phone and listened to what you were saying and then called you. On occasion I had a phone call that sounded OK till they asked for my SS number and I told the since they called me I do not give it out and hang up. Same goes with my debit card number. These days we have to be so darn careful. Sad there are so many smart people who want to get rich by thinking up new scams. Imagine if they used their brains for something good? I am so glad I do not have your problems, I know I would not be able to cope with them. Had too many with the (man?) jerk I married.

LLOYD  sounds like a friend you trusted is treating you dirty. You do not deserve that. Sad.

Have a good day everyone

Good morning everyone..

I am so sad at reading your post Lloyd, can you see if another lawyer would take your case for less money? If you didn't sign any papers what does he have to prove he bought it??

Weather permitting we are off to a country fair today. This one has antique cars , a huge field of them to see. Past few years Kyle has been either unable to go or not able to do the walk about.

First we will take back 6 bundles of shingles that were not used and then head out.

Gloria, may the witch get a worse place to live in wih one worse than her when she needs a place to live in.

Joy, thank you for the recipe, sure looks good and one I will be trying...tis soup weather here..

Carol amen!! Now your son can have his operation. That is good news!.

Better go ,enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're all gathered in my office waiting for the boinger.  When that goes, I go to the kitchen to feed the puppies and put some food in my stomach.

FIRST, LLOYD you need to find a different lawyer.  Around here (and I think most places) we have lawyers who will assist people with a promise of a share in the winnings.  I'm sure you can find someone to work with you that won't make a huge charge up front.  And if there was nothing signed, I would think you don't owe anything to someone who is trying to take over.  Look further into this before you give up!

SHIRLEY, I'm happy to hear that you plan to sit back and relax a bit.  I said a prayer that it would all work out right.  I wonder if He sits up there thinking "There she is again".  Because I ask for His so much.

JOY, I had 4 people in WM looking for Gravy Master and a customer told me that she thinks Kitchen Bouquet is the same thing.  I always have KB on hand because I like my gravy brown.  If it isn't brown, I don't eat it.  I looked them both up on line and the ingredients are pretty much the same.  If you agree (or if anyone else has an opinion) let me know because I have all the ingredients for this soup and I'm going to make it....maybe Sunday!

And now....

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

SHAME ON ME......I have been in here several times, starting to post then get interrupted and by the time I get back my post is gone!

We are enjoying a warmer day after our snowstorm and a drop in temperatures 60+ degrees during the storm!  Crazy Colorado weather🤪

CAROL, happy to see you returned safely from your stay with your son in Montana.  INSURANCE.....GURRRR!  I am sorry your son did not get the surgery he hoped to, but I know you must have really enjoyed the time together!  I guess you and Don are getting ready to head south soon, right?  I was so thankful our trees came through the storm without too much damage.  It could have been so much worse.  Happy to read it has now been approved😍

AMY, I loved the little girl asking if you have smiled yet today.....so cute and yes, such an important thing to do in our lives.  I know you were so happy to have the roof install done.....that pounding can go on your nerves and I know the doggies were glad!

Well, I managed to loose my post already....it is so easy to do on this iPad!  I was smart to make a save, so did not loose it all.

SHIRLEY, I am just shaking my head at your continued problems.  It is just pitiful the service one gets these days, and I don't care what or who you are dealing with.....it is just plain and simple, NO ONE DOES THEIR JOB ANYMORE.  I wrote more to you, but it was lost....so you are saved by not having to hear all I had to say!

LLOYD, I am ill just reading the latest news you have shared!  This just seems so wrong!  If there was nothing signed, it does not seem that scammer has a leg to stand on!  I understand the concerns you have in that you can not afford a lawyer, but I also think there has to be someone that can help you out without money up front.  Know that I am praying for you and Nancy and hope this can be figured out....you just can not loose your home!  And after all is said and done.....it would take quite a long time and a lot of court stuff before they can MAKE you leave the property, so if all else fails, just hang in there and wait them out!

I am sorry that I have not commented to everyone that said something to me.  I am going to do my best to not get this behind again.

Enjoy your day,

Jenny

Weather dictated our day...no fair. We struck out and thought that just maybe by the time we got to the fair the rain would let off but it didn't. So instead we found out my sister's new place and stopped for a visit. Then since it was still raining we went cross country to the choco factory, quilt store and cheese factory. All in all a fantastic day.
Time to put my feet up. :)

Good morning everyone. thanks for the thoughts and prayores. we went to look at a house yesterday in a small town. it has three small bedrooms we do not need that many,so i could use one for our computer room. It has a two car attached garage and a medium size shop building not attached to house. would be a good place to store my wood working equipment and lumber. Nancy wants to give up and getaway from Bob and the mess. I want to get and keep her in better spirits if possible. the Lawyer we contacted says he thinks we can win but says long and dragged out and costly. Nancy is more stressed out than I am. the weakened is shot i am going to try to see  another Lawyer Tuesday. and not talk with Nancy about the mess so as to keep her upset. so keep it and us in your  prayers.Thanks.

Lloyd, I do hope you and Bob can think back over the years to how much you did and meant to each other. Only the two of you know what was said and what each of you meant. Maybe this is the time for you & Nancy to retire into town and take the temptation of injuring youself again, but it takes you and Bob to come out with a reasonable agreement of price so you can each walk away feeling you were treated fairly. No lawyer can make it right in either of your heads and living in peace with the choices and promises you've made will be a happier rest of your life for all. Nobody (including me) can know what is fair but the two of you but you can't talk about it angry... besides, angry is bad for your blood pressure. Go talk to God about it. So that is my thoughts of your problem, no judgement, just work it out and save the lawyer money. I will remember you in my prayers, that you can work it out without any more hard feelings, that you can both walk away feeling you were fair to each other. God Bless. Shirley

Good frosty morning everyone..
Fire is on and chasing away the chill, soon it will be on most of the day.Guess I was over tired and couldn't get to sleep last night till about 3 am..

A day of rest here, only thing I want to do is make yogurt in the IP and we know how easy that is. Will play Frisbee with the pup as I was too tuckered to play last night and he really looks forward to that time.

Lloyd,  prayers for you and Nancy to get through this. Must admit that house sounds perfect for the both of you..shop/garage for you and a smaller home for Nancy to look after.

Better go get dressed ,slept in again.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, looks like we will no have rain today HOORAY. I is supposed to get out of the 50's and into the mid 60's today and partly cloudy-at least that is what the weather guesser just said. Maybe I will get outside for a bit of fresh air. My son didn't make it here yesterday and I sure missed him. He is still working on the mess in my old apartment. His wife's brother must have left it a real mess. In the more than 5 years he lived there I guess he did not do anything. Son's oldest daughter and her "significant other" have been going on week ends to help him clean and paint and every thing that needs doing. With her living in there he will know it will be clean.

AMY  got a laugh at what you said about the witch getting someone worse than her. Just about every one in here says she will get old one day and hope she gets what she is treating us like we are her prisoners and she is the strict warden. As the saying goes "what goes round comes round". She will get what she deserves one day. Enjoy the Fair and those old cars. Those cars are something my oldest son loves look‌ing at when he goes to local fairs. Soup weather here, too. Guess I better look for the recipes and see if I can find them.

JANE  like you I like brown gravy and I always used Gravy Master, maybe because my Mom always used it. I tried Gravy Master once and thought it tasted different.

LLOYD  so sad that your long time friend Bob is not a good friend after all. Terrible when we can no longer trust many people. Good luck to you.

SHIRLEY  good advice to Lloyd.

Have a good day.

Well, here I sit....all dressed up and no place to go!  I actually got the ice scraped off the car windows and was on my way to church.  I got as far as the corner (2 houses away), turned the corner and I couldn't see anything for the fog!  I really do not like fog!  I don't see any real use for it and it's the cause of a lot of accidents.  I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself for not being able to go to church this morning.  Now you all see why I don't like the colder weather!

I'm not sure what I'll do today but it's going to have to be something to make me feel better about missing church.

SHIRLEY, what you said to LLOYD was just what I would have said if I were smarter!  It was good advice and I hope he reads it.

LLOYD, it sounds like you might have found a perfect house for you and Nancy to retire to but I hope you can do something about your lost friendship before you make major changes in your life.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Jane, I believe that God knows when you've tried hard to get to church and can't, he pays extra attention to your "one on one" talk with him. I also fear fog more than anything but black ice.... then you really gotta watch out for the nuts!  Wishing you a happy day, enjoy the pups & give yourselves a tasty treat & watch TV. Time to bring out the hot chocolate. I got some mini marshmellows yesterday at Wally World.   I love a slice of white bread toasted & lots of butter with mine. Yum... I also love a piece of toast with butter & sugar/cinnamon brought to a bubble in the toaster oven.

Lloyd, I thought about you at church this morning, hoped I didn't say something wrong. I have a bad habit of talking like a sister to everyone... (only I hear my mother's words coming out). All my life I've tried to be the "Peace Maker".... because my mother used to quote... "Blessed are the Peacemakers".... and that sounded like a job for me. One time when my daughter was young she asked my why I always took everybody else's side. Had to think about that and told her I was NEVER taking anyone's side, I just wanted her to think how it looked from the other person's point of view. I do hope you & Bob can resolve the problems and come to a happy solution for all of you. I understand Nancy's wish to just get away from the stress. I think everyone in here has been hoping you would stay away from that heavy equipment & danger plus the hard work that goes with farming. You can stay busy with your love of wood working and travel. Hugs to you for a peaceful outcome.

Gloria, my son has also been too busy to get by, his daughter & husband bought a bigger house so he it totally tied up with helping them. All the little tasks he did for her at this last house will have to be done all over. His retirement has doubled his work!  So far I am shocked at the lack of color on any trees. I didn't think it was so dry the leaves would just turn brown & drop off, but nothing pretty here. Got some warmer days ahead, up to the 70s. We did have frost yesterday. I've got a crick or something in my left knee.... not the bone but muscle around. Have to plant that leg before standing on it, feels like it could leave me flat on the floor. I go barefoot all summer & had started wearing house shoes this week...maybe they caused the knee to twist...these wood floors are cold, also wandered if the cold wind got to those muscles. Maybe I need to order some of that cream you got for your back. Did you order from Amazon or from the TV ad?

Amy, this morning when I left the house I thought I saw a bright moon to the west, so I fumbled around in my purse to find my cell, turned it on & when I came to the corner where I thought I could get a good shot.... there was NO MOON! I have no idea what I saw before, not time for it to have disappeared past the horizon but nothing that remotely looked like a bright moon! I also had a restless/sleepless night, not normal for me. Think we deserve a nap????

Good morning to everyone that stops by today! Think I will go fix me a mug of hot chocolate (got Swiss Miss) & cinnamon toast & stretch out on the bed & nap. A day of rest would be nice!

My SIL is a hunter and I usually get some of the fallout from his hunting trips for Cristmas.  I had an early Christmas last week when my daughter and granddaughter came.  They brought a cooler with 8 packs of Elk burger for an early surprise for me from my SIL.  Today, I made it up into my favorite meat loaf recipe but shaped it into burgers and broiled them.  I have six meals ready.  Later I'll bake a couple sweet potatoes to go with them and maybe cook a package of my frozen corn off the cob that I have in my freezer.  Anyone want to join me for dinner?

SHIRLEY, I think you're right about Him listening to my apology for not making it to church.  But I really hated to miss today.  This one was special.  Our Bishop was there for a visit and did the service.  I've not heard this bishop and I was looking forward to today's service.

Guess I'll go get some lunch and then see what's on TV on Sunday afternoon.  Maybe I'll take the doggies for a walk.  The sun has finally broken through!  Hope you are all enjoying your day!

A good Sunday HELLO TO EVERYFRIEND 🙏🙏

JANE, I am sad that you were not able to continue on your way
to Church......and I understand why it was going to be a special service🙏

SHIRLEY, you were spot on with what you told LLOYD.  When you have a friendship with someone for so many years it should not end like this.

LLOYD, prayers and good thoughts for strength as you try to straighten out this mess aka misunderstanding🙏

We are getting ready to sit down and watch the Bronco Game🏈🏈

A friend sent this to me this morning and I sure enjoyed it....
I hope you all will to

Finished grinding all that roast & cleaned up my mess. Also got the blackberries I had a rain check for.. half price for one day only... but they didn't get any in that day!  I cooked them into a sort of syrup.... tastes good on bread or anything else blackberries are good with. I got busy & let the pot boil over onto the stove, just enough to make an extra mess. All done & I am ready to crash. Will turn out the lights, sprinkle some of Joan's Angel Dust.... sweet dreams and God Bless.  Shirley

Good morning everyone, looks like I am back to waking early again but  then I have been getting to sleep early. Yesterday turned out to be a warm sunny day and I did spend a lot of time outside, even walked around the parking lot a few times. After 6 days of rain the sun and warmth was so welcome. No wonder I was asleep a little after 8 last night.

JANE  sorry you missed church yesterday, driving in fog is bad and I have done it a few times and was glad when I got to my destination. Mostly it was to work in the mornings.

SHIRLEY  hot cocoa with buttered toast and sugar and cinnamon, yummy. I enjoy that on a cold day. I have tried so many different products that didn't work as good. Sure do not need much of it either. I just typed the name on the computer and it brought me to the site.

JANE  would love to join you for an elk burger. Have not had elk but had bear, moose and of course venison and loved the difference in the flavor.

JENNY  I saved the link and watched it, WONDERFUL. Thanks for sharing it. Sure is different now when some of those players will not stand up for the country that has given them so much.

SHIRLEY  bet that blackberry syrup would be good over a dish of ice cream.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  First off, GLORIA, that black raspberry syrup IS good over a dish of ice cream.  I've made and canned it for several years now and I can tell you that with conviction!

It's cold here but I don't think it's foggy this morning. I could see the lights down at the corner pretty well when the doggies and I were outside.  This morning I have to get up the road to work so I'm glad the fog is gone.

Thanks for taking care of the lights, SHIRLEY!  And I know how the stove gets when you boil over anything wth sugar in it!  Not fun to do when your getting tired anyway!

The doggies and I are waiting for the boinger and I'm taking the time to make a batch of dog food so I have to watch the time and get back to work.  The meat is cooked and I don't want to finsh it until it's time to feed the doggies because they think when it's finihed, they should eat it.  Sometimes I wonder how they know what it is I'm working on because they only beg for certain things.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone.

Calling for more rain today, need it too! Not sure what is happening today, I do hope to sneak in some sewing later on though.

Jane, I hate driving in fog...we have had fog so thick you couldn't see the centre line on the road! I am more than happy to stay at home when it is like that. Have a great day at work.

Shirley, I can attest to Jane's blackberry syrup....tis good to the last drop!!!

Gloria, yesterday was lovely here also. Nice to get out and enjoy the good weather for we know what is coming next.

Jenny, really enjoyed the video, thank you for sharing.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Not light outside yet, been up nearly 2 hours and seriously thinking about going back for a few more zzzzzzzzzzs.  Jenny, your link put the starch back into my step so may just get busy instead. What has happened to our patriotism? How heart warming to see people from both sides of the political party standing side by side instead of slinging insults and accusations! Many thanks for the link, I copied and will send to my brother, we remind each other of those days long ago when everyone waved a flag.

Back when the kids were little we would drive from western KS to eastern TN, leave the house when he got off work to make the 18 hour drive with kids sleeping in the back as much as possible. Many times we would hit Kentucky when the fog was so thick all we could see was the white line just feet in front of the bumper. Those winding roads & drop off cliffs.... and when it got light there would be a banner saying, "Jesus Saves" stretched between the hills down below. Always a couple wrecked cars at the bottom that were rusted out. Those trips were a nightmare to me. By the time we got there my ribs would be sore from leaning over the seat to take care of kids, no seat belts back then. We took sandwiches & water to last until we got there. I had an evil way of getting to stop besides when we needed gas.... I would pour Cas coffee until his eyeballs floated and HE had to stop!  :2funny: Good ole days???

Amy & Jane, you pet lovers will understand about the cats getting a few bites of that roast when I was grinding it. They do beg and seem to delight when one gets something & the others aren't around. I had heard that cats had to stay on one type food, didn't get extras like a dog. These cats didn't read that book, since they roam free & eat whatever they want outside, they will eat anything I offer. Tiger is picky but if it is meat, she eats!

Gloria, that blackberry syrup tastes really good but was remembering how Mother would pour hers through cheese cloth to get the seeds out. Wonder if you can buy cheese cloth anymore?  I had a couple empty Smucker's squeeze bottles, strawberry, that I bought for camping trips to CO... saved the bottles & works great for the blackberry syrup.

Guess I better get dressed or do something... hopefully the guys from Home Advisor will show up at 11:00 am to tear down that little building & haul off. My knee is still testing me, have to be careful how I plant that foot down so I don't go down with it. Don't remember twisting it or anything.... maybe I need to have another look at leg warmers... always my knees that object to the cold.  Have a Merry Monday, Every Friend!

I'm so sorry to read of Lloyd's troubles.  I pray that things will work out for the better for him and Nancy.

Shirley, I hope the Home Adviser thing works out for the better for you, too.  I thought about contacting them to get my deck painted but think I'll wait until I see how things worked for you.

Breakfast time so I must go.

Phyllis, I am sort of walking the floor waiting on them to show up. Still have an hour & 15 min before I unlock the gates. I will be disappointed if they don't show at all but will not be surprised if price of what they can do for the small amount charged, is not incorrect .... I've already convinced myself that I will give them a bonus (cash) if that person/persons agrees they will get the job done. To be honest, the lady/girl I talked to (in Vermont) sounded sort of "ditsy"... if you know what I mean. She certainly got the paperwork all screwed up, I've never been called Jake before but 2 e-mails addressed to Jake are in my mail box, Jake's name & phone number but MY address & e-mail. I honestly think I will find someone local that will give me an estimate for a job & wait to be paid when the work is done... with a check or cash, not have a credit card number floating around. My daughter & good friend have had excellant experiences with them, maybe I just happened to get someone new at the call center.  I think I told you that one of the girls I graduated with couldn't make the reunion because her husband was in the middle of your kind of spell. I felt so smart knowing what it was all about, thanks to you.

Not warming up very much so I put a fire on.. Made a pot of bean soup in the IP..throw everything it program it and I went and sewed. Everything was perfect including the beans which I didn't soak before hand. No recipe, just grab and dump.

Talked with son and he is in Louisiana with his a/c on!! Thankfully we haven't had the snow out west in Manitoba, they are now under a state of emergency over 2 feet of snow.

Good Morning Everyone from the
cool,  sunny and very pleasant,
rocky coast of Maine.

Nice Fall Day !

I will be getting my right eye
operated on on November 12 th
to have the cateract removed.

I am pleased that they do not have
to do both eyes because I can not see
out of my left eye.    They are not making
me stop my blood thinner...   (HOORAY)

So I am very pleased but still normally
nervous about having this surgery done.

I am looking forward to seeing better out
of my right eye.

And hoping for the best all around
on "operation day" !

Otherwise,  All is well here.

SHIRLEY, you can still buy Cheese cloth.  I have about 3 packages of it in my work drawer.  I did not use it for the black raspberry syrup because I have a very fine strainer that I use for that purpose.  I dislike using cheesecloth and will not use it if I have any alternative!

I hope your guy showed up and did your work and your pleased with the results.

JENNY, I liked your video too.  Forgot to say so earlier but my excuse is that I was in a hurry getting ready for work.

Today was a good day but I'm tired and ready to relax for the evening.  I still have to dunk Annies butt in vinegar water but I think we're getting rid of the "itchies".  She's more like her old self and isn't scratching on everything she passes.

SANDY, the cataract surgery was not  bad at all.  I had both eyes done at different times.  I wish you well with yours!

Now I'm going off and relax until the dogs begin to bug me for supper!  Enjoy the rest of your day!

Fire is crackling , nice and warm in here.  Just came in from playing Frisbee....have no idea of what Jessie will do when winter comes and we get a lot of snow!!While out  one crow started to caw, then the rest started..loud..I watched the sky and then saw what the warning was about. ..a juvenile bald eagle was flying over us.

Shirley, cats/dogs  all like treats and as long as it is safe these dogs get some...Jessie happens to like pumpkin pie :)Hope your day went well.

Jenny, thank you..the soup is hearty and will hit the spot tomorrow!

Sandy, good luck on the surgery. I have heard nothing but good for that surgery, in fact my friend didn't need his glasses anymore!!

Phyliss, happy to see you are feeling better.

Jane, you snuck in on me.. I use a coffee filter, one that is used in the BIG coffee pots  for my yogurt.

May go sew a bit more..

If I am supposed to turn out the lights tonight, everybody get ready for bed! This is one tired old lady. Happy to report the guy from Home Advisor is a keeper, did a better than expected job in the time alloted. Since I expected the job to cost more, I gave him (his wife came with the truck to help load up the stuff)... a nice bonus & hope to use them again. Could not be happier. This is one hard working couple, I doubt if even 40 yet.

Got a call in to the lawn guys to see which day they want to come so I can plan a half day trip to the DMV...to get car/RV tags & pay the state tax on both. Then a sit down with the roofer so we can get a bill made out for actual costs & pay him off. As it stands now, my share of pay is $3,500. & hope it doesn't go any higher. It might but shouldn't. Not sure how KS got that law that even though I have full replacement (no deductable for age on anything)... except the roof is co-pay of 1% of policy coverage. That is based on what it would cost to completely rebuild the house. Can't change it & get ahead so leaving as is.

I am brain & body tired tonight, don't even want to think to watch TV. Cats had their final meal, Callie went to the garage door, she found her heated bed & was in it almost all day. Bless her heart, don't know how old she is but she appreciates not having to be outside. She/they went down to the river with me & she is the first to be at the top when I come up. I dozed off waiting for the "kids" to get back with the truck to pick up the rest of the stuff. Didn't get but a little over 5 hours sleep & that one cat nap.

Sandy, my eye doctor insisted I need cataracts removed & I am not ready. I read without glasses but understand that will end with the surgery. I can thread a sewing machine needle on the first try (without glasses) so hate to give that up. My problem is distance & think this doctor just doesn't take time to fit glasses properly. I do wish you the best. My father was so thrilled with his surgery he was like a kid. I saw him a few days later & he was telling me how good he could see.. he stuck out his arm & said, "see that chigger?" Not sure if y'all know what a chigger is, but next to impossible to see. So I said, "Oh, Daaaddddd..." to which he cracked..." did you see it blink?"  I was delighted he was so pleased. Hope you have the same results.

Amy, isn't it a thrill to see an eagle... even a baby? I have not see the eagles as much this summer and never heard if any nested around here. Should see the osprey stop by on it's way south one of these days. It hangs around for a few days before heading on each spring & fall. It should love my fat fish this time!!! I expect fish will hide out while it is around. I did get a photo of it one year as it dropped down & plucked a big fish, almost as long as it's own body... & took off with it dripping water. Doesn't take a lot to make me happy.  ::)

Jane, I got out my flour sifter that has the handle that wiggles to move the little bar on the screen. Washed it up & will see if I want to remove seeds, have not had a problem eating them so may not bother. I can't remember how Mother anchored the cheese cloth to strain through.... but since we ate blackberry cobbler & it had the seeds in... not sure why I thought I should remove them.

We warmed back up, comfortable without a jacket but a vest feels just right during the day. Something very satisfying about fall weather when it is "just right". Makes me feel like smiling & closing my eyes in peace. Sweet dreams to all. Shirley

SHIRLEY I prefer jam over jelly so I don't take the seeds out for that but when I make syrup, I do take out the seeds.  But only use the strainer.
