JUNKY MAIL

Just waiting for the postman coming, for he will never fail,
He's so big and fat and ugly, all he brings is junky mail.
Like a giant Qausi Modo, carrying his postman's sack.
Jam packed full of junky mail , like a pea on an Elephants back.
I cellotaped the letter box to stop his morning caper,
But he is smart and finds a way, to delivers this  junky paper.
I put a notice on the door.saying we don't want no more,
But that big and fat and ugly so and so, pushed it underneath the door.
I went and bought a big ugly dog, to give this guy a scare,
I'll teach him piling us up with junk cos I don't think it's fair.
We got the dog and let it out, it was just a damn disgrace,
That ugly mutt that we had bought, was licking the postman's face.
He even took the mail off him, and dropped it at our feet.
Between the postman and our ugly dog, it seems they got us beat.
We've tried every thing we know, and the house is now up for sale,
Any one want buy house with an ugly dog , filled with the junky mail?

Good morning everyone, colder this morning than it has been, 45° and sky is clear. Got a chance to see the big moon when I pulled the shade in the BR up. Yesterday on  the weather  report the guessers were saying that Wednesday night we will have another nor'easter move in but will be gone on Friday. Will not be as long as the one last week. At least it is not snow. That would be Hugh snow drifts and lots of school closings. Just heard on the news a man in Mass. died of the triple E. I know they have done a lot of spraying in the 3 lower New England states but still finding those "skeeters" carrying the disease. We really need a good freeze.

JANE  I know that I like different fruit syrups on ice cream but have not made any in years. I gave away all my canning jars and when I moved here I found I still had a dozen jam jars. Looks like your fur babies can smell what you are cooking and know when it is for them. No such thing as a dumb animal.

AMY  going to be a good day here and I hope to get out later to enjoy it. Might have to get my winter jacket on, I feel the cold now more than I ever did. I lost so much weight that I now say I have no more blubber to hold the heat in. In a way it  is better for my back that  am no longer over weight.

SHIRLEY  years ago when we went to Maine every week end in the summer we left after supper and my 3 would fall asleep and we left to come home after lunch and they would sleep most of the way home. That worked good for all of us. The CNA I have had for 2 years is out with something she did to her left knee. She was here a week ago on Monday and I noticed her limping and moving slower. I asked her what happened and she said she didn't know if she turned wrong or what but she was in pain. I sent her home. She went to the doctor and for xrays. She is out of work now going on the second week. I have had someone different every day since and I will be happy when she is back. Maybe you should have yours checked.

PHYLLIS  I have no t been able to do laundry in 3 years, good thing I have help that can do it.

SANDY  I was nervous when I had  the first cataract surgery but it was no bad at all. When I had the second one done I was more relaxed.

JENNY  in the Federal Hill section in Providence they make a big thing of Columbus day. That is where the first Italians settled when they came here and that never changed.

My preference is no seeds because of the way they get between my teeth. If I buy any I always look for seedless JAM. Spreads better than jelly.

BUBBLE  thanks for the mid month new book to write in. Love your graphics, the first one looks like a sharp cameo in the center, beautiful.
Love the Juncky mail, maybe someone should write about the junky email we get at times and the phone calls, too. Thank you for all the goodies you posted.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  So far, today has been a "do-nothing" day!  And it looks like that's going to continue.  The doggies have been out, fed and out again and I've had my breakfast and my eye drops.  Boy!  That sure doesn't sound like a productive day coming up!

It got down into the mid 30s over night but not low enough to freeze.  And I've noticed that a lot of the trees are just plain old brown around here, too.  Even my neighbor's two red maples look brown.

BUBBLE, I really enjoy all of your offerings when you give us a new home.  The pictures are thought provoking and your choice of quots always makes me think!  Thank you for doing this for us!

I hope you all have a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good afternoon everyone.

I was here earlier but there was such a commotion outside...seems we had a stray dog about and Babe was telling everyone!! He belonged to someone as he had a red collar on. After that I needed to scoot, took Kyle for his second shingles shot, blood work and home to make many phone calls.

Now, I can get busy and do my work......although it is such a lovely day out and I am sure these are numbered before snow flies. Saw the eagle again this morning, looks as though he is making this his area.

Bubble, thank you for the lovely start page. You do such a beautiful job.

Gloria, another fine day here, unfortunately it also brings out the bees. I give them a wide berth.

Jane, about time you had an enjoyable day one that isn't full of things to do.

Lloyd, I hope and pray that this all works out for you and Nancy.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Afternoon,

Thanks, Bubble, for the new Soda Shoppe.  Doesn't seem as if it's time for a mid-month change yet!

Weather is back to muggy and "hot-enough-for-the-air conditioner".  This is due to air flow from the Gulf of Mexico.  Of course, there's a cold front moving in from the northwest that will change us back to "turn-on-the-furnace" temperatures.  :idiot2:

Result of all this is a very "squeaky creaky" morning for me.  Didn't help that every other old person in the area seemed to be at the grocery store at the same time I was.    >:(

Positive note:  My wonderful housekeeper is here.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Well, I thought I had commented, came in 3 times today & was sure I thanked you, Bubble for the graphics and the especially meaningful sayings. Must agree with Sandy that I really like thinking of myself as an elephant & can do anything.

Sandy, if I didn't tell you before, I am thinking of your up coming cataract surgery. The yellow streak down my back is glowing, I am not taking my eye doctor's advice, am hoping that you have a more dedicated doctor & not just money hungry. I can't say anything nice about mine so will shut up.  Love Fi's Shirley Temple curles... she looks like such a happy little girl (and someone catches some fantastic shots of her).

Lloyd, wishing you & Nancy all the best, for sure you don't need this stress. It isn't easy to find help when we can't do things ourselves. I just talked to someone that will do the "easy" jobs for $20 an hour & think that is a bargain. Any of the grunt work jobs will end up being more like $50 an hour.... and that is still cheaper than going into any retirement place around here. I have friends in the KC area that found much cheaper & nicer places, but I don't think you are ready for that. I've made up my mind IF I have a choice, I will move only once, to independent living that has assisted & then the full care if needed. It will be a lot harder for you to take care of cattle & the driveways as winter comes on, and that motorhome sitting in the driveway begging to go south... Difficult choices that you & Nancy alone can make. Hugs...

Hey, Callie, it got a little warm here yesterday but nippy today. I need to get the cover on the AC, this house stays warm or cool the temps inside don't fluctuate a lot. Have very thick, dark storm windows over double/triple? Andersen windows. I have a pizza cooling so better go eat. I'm trying to remember what you said about our KC kid.... has she graduated?  Where does she plan to live?  With all going on around here my brain is not storing information. Still waiting for the roof guy to come with his bill & see how it sets with that stinker insurance adjuster. I'm getting prepped to act like an elephant!

Oh, Amy, hope your eagle decided to nest near you so you can watch the babies next spring. You may have to start fishing to offer it food without hunting... just keep a rain barrel filled with fish for it. I went down to feed the fish while ago & it is such a kick to watch them flop all over each other to grab the bread. No idea what they weigh, but their heads are enormous, catfish with their whiskers & carp that float along with their mouths open to slurp in it.

Jane, my do nothing day has been just that. I did beat up a vanilla pudding & put into a graham cracker crust.. with a banana sliced on bottom. Was a big package of pudding so I had to eat a bowl of it that didn't fit in.  Do not know who will be around to help eat, but don't think I will want any tonight after I eat that pizza.

Gloria, I never did get out the Epsom salt, heat pad & shower curtain to soak me. Can't decide if really is the back causing the leg to hurt or what. Lazy on my part, but I did try to take a nap & phone woke me... I'll check with Amazon to see what they have to offer with Prime... at least it's 2 day free shipping. I ordered something not prime & took a couple weeks to get here so I don't want to wait & wonder when. Once I get my car/RV tags taken care of I won't have to waste a day to clean up & go, been doing a lot of that lately. I will have to get the RV winterized after one more trip to MO. Daughter will be in town the first week of Nov & back again for Thanksgiving & all the birthdays. With as many people around as in the family now, too much going on all the time.

Let's put the lights on a timer so they go off when the last poster shows up. I may just fall asleep with my face in that pizza. Good night, all.............Shirley

It did turn out to be a "do-nothing" day!  I threw one load of clothes in the washer and then I went looking for the two crook neck pumpkins that I bought to send to mydaughter and granddaughter in Texas and OK and I can't find them.  I was going to pack them today and get them on the way tomorrow.  How in the heck can you lose two big crook neck pumpkins?  They have to be here.

I did find my box of WWII movies and went through them looking for "The Battle of the Bulge"  I didn't find that but I found one called "The Devil's Brigade" with three f my all time favorite actors (William Holden, Cliff Robertson and Vince Edwards) so I watched that.

Now I have to think about going to bed but I'm going to take one more look for the pumpkins.  Today was a beautiful day...sunshine and up in the low 70s.  My kind of Fall Day!

I hope you all sleep peacefully (preferably NOT in pizza).

Good morning everyone, looks like I cannot sleep much past 4 in the morning any more, no matter what time I go to bed. 45°now at 4:30. Good sleeping temperature with no AC or fan noise.

LLOYD  I think we all feel bad for what is happening to you from a so called good friend. We know how generous you have been helping him. He will get what he deserves  no matter how bad it is.

JANE  most of my days are do nothing days because I cannot do much anymore. Drives me nuts. Now I cannot even mop a floor and dust. Have to have someone else do even the little things I always did and someone else does it. Makes me feel like I am lazy watching my CNA do my work. The maples here are looking great and a bit more deep red every day. In the back of the building along both sides of the river that flows through both sides all the trees ad bushes are all different colors and so pretty. Makes me wish I had a camera.

AMY  I would love to see and eagle flying out side of a zoo. At the San Diego they had an act with a man and an eagle. He had it on his arm and he launched it off and the eagle soared way up till we could hardly see it and the man whistled and the eagle dived and landed easily on his arm again. Amazing how well he had trained the eagle. Still would love to see them in the wild but none around here. I walked around the parking lot yesterday and had a bee circling around me. As I approached the porch where there are 2 big pots of mums it flew into the flowers. I was happy to see that. I sure didn't want it to fo‌llow me inside.

CALLIE  at least you can still get to the market for your groceries and that is something I would love to do.

SHIRLEY  with so many people around you will never be lonely or bored.

Have a good day.

Well, I'm up but it's still dark out there.  It's about 50 degrees out there and I'm in favor of that!  I'll take that year round!  As Goria said, no A/C sound and no heat necessary.

Today is a WM day so I'm hoping for smiles all around.  I have to make a quick stop on the way home so the doggies will have to cross their legs as they wai for me today.

I hope you all have a lovely day

Good morning everyone.
Calling for rain today and tomorrow. The tree colour is mostly muted now with the odd splash of red . I see the Tamaracks are getting ready to soon drop their needles.
A day of work about the house after we go to the lumber yard for two pieces of wood. Kyle has been working on the utility trailer ,metal has been sanded down repainted now just needs to finish of the wood part.
Shirley, we are starting to get the eagles back in the area now. In the winter we do see some at the dump, which to me is sad to see such a majestic bird there but he survives . Just let the weather dog back in and he said it is raining as he rubs up close to me..[

Gloria, I think we have things we used to do and now have to let others do it .We have had our time and all these things ,now tis time to pass it on to others.

Better get a move on.

Janie, stop playing hide and seek with those pumpkin!!/color]

Good morning. I thought I better make an appearance this morning, or someone would send out the dogs looking for me.  If I don't get here in the morning, the day just flies by and I forget.

It is supposed to be a very rainy day with a lot of hard rain at times. We really do need it, Hopefully, it will clear off for the rest of the week.

I have gone back and read a lot of the messages.

Thanks to Bubble for the new beginnings.

Lloyd, I am so sorry that you are going through such a terrible ordeal with your friend. I sure do hope you will be able to work things out and renew your friendship.  That is so sad.

Shirley, sure hope you will get all your problems settled soon.

Gloria, I can relate to you in a lot of ways. I have a hard time getting around, but I still can do most things for myself.  Just takes so much longer.  I do order my groceries from Wal-Mart and my DIL picks them up for me.  I don't do a lot of cooking anymore, but do manage to fix enough to fill me up.  I have a hard time standing for any length of time.  But, you know, just keep moving on !

Jane, I can't imagine where you have put the pumpkins. That is so funny. Sure hope that you find them. They will probably be in the most obvious place,  That is usually the way those things happen.

I have been up a while, got the trash out to the trash room, and now will go look for some breakfast.  Probably will have cereal this morning and a cup of tea.  My Keureg coffee maker is not longer working and I just haven't gotten around to getting another one.  And, I miss my cup of coffee.  Don't think I will get another Keureg one.... just a Mr. Coffee. Those coffee pods can get expensive.  A Mr. Coffee will work just fine.  But, I also do enjoy my cup of tea.

I know I have missed mentioning some of the friends, so I will just wish each of you a wonderful day.  If you are having a rainy day, just snuggle up with a good book.  If it is a nice day where you are, enjoy the sunshine.

Just enjoy the day not matter where you are.

Joy

Good Morning,

Had a long post and lost it when I tried to "preview" before posting.  Grumble grumble  >:(

Shirley,  thanks for mentioning the "KC girl".  She will graduate and become Dr. Emily a year from this December.  Latest progress is becoming a Clinical Intern, which means she can work on real clients.  The college has a clinic that functions like a Beauty School does for hairdresser....supervised work on actual clients.  I think she has 5 regulars at this point.
She will also take the Physical Therapy Boards later this month because chiropractors (in Oklahoma, at least) must also be licensed physical therapists.
After graduating, she will move home and probably accept an offer she's already had to join the established practice of a chiropractor who is also a family friend.

Gloria,  if there isn't a handicapped space or one nearby at the grocery store, I come home!  Don't have anyone to pick up groceries for me and have thought about ordering and having them delivered...but haven't tried, yet.

Other than the usual Domestic Duties,  I've been spending most of my time reading e-books from the library.  I'm in a small book club and the selections (suggested by members) have led me to some books I would never have chosen on my own.  That and the good discussions (led by members) are great "mind stretchers"!
I always check the Best Seller lists in the Sunday paper and usually put several on a Wish List or on Hold.  The "Holds" will automatically appear on my Loan list as they become available.  Naturally, 2 or 3 often appear at the same time.  Since they automatically disappear at the end of the loan time (2 weeks), that means I "have" to keep reading.
Since I could easily spend all day every day doing so, the chore is to make myself Do Useful Things when necessary.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Joy, do not give up on your Keurig coffeemaker.  Mine stopped working and I was ready to toss it, but I followed the info in the owner's manual about cleaning the little spout where the coffee comes out, and it works like a charm again.  a toothpick, and a Qtip works wonders.  The coffee grounds and oils seem to clog up the spout.  Give it a try, and then get rid of it if it doesn't work!  My daughter's had the same problem, but she didn't try fixing it, and spent good money getting another Keurig machine.  BTW, Keurig does NOT tend to replace/repair machines after they are out of Warranty.

Yesterday we had loud thunderstorms and after a lightning struck very near the house, all our neighborhood was without phone and internet for several hours.

Did you know of the terrible danger of lightning? Here is what was in our newspaper today.

Three brothers, a sister and the wife of one of the brothers were struck by lightning on Tuesday on Zikim Beach near the northern Gaza Strip. The five were evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, according to a Magen David Adom spokesperson.

"We were hanging out at an abandoned beach when lightning struck the sand and knocked us to the ground," said Elazar Hazut of Beersheba from his hospital bed. "I ask for Israelis to pray for us."
Elazar, his brother, Elhanan, and wife, Efrat, 21, remain in serious condition. His brother, Asher, 14, was transferred in critical condition to the hospital as resuscitation attempts continued. Another sister, 13, whose name was withheld, is in serious but stable condition.

"On the beach were two unconscious youths, and one floating in and out of consciousness," said MDA paramedic Keren Salvodanik. "The MDA team that was near the scene began resuscitation attempts on the two youths who had no pulse and weren't breathing, and provided treatment to the injured [youth] who was floating in and out of consciousness.

"As soon as we arrived, together with more MDA paramedics, we continued resuscitation attempts and treatment of the injured" youth, he said. "The heart of one of the youths began to beat again and, at the moment, we are continuing resuscitation attempts on one youth and providing lifesaving medical treatment to the additional victims."

According to eyewitnesses, lightning struck the beach lifeguard station near where the family had spread its blankets.

"There was a flash as if someone threw a stun grenade," an eyewitness told Reshet Bet radio. "We grabbed our stuff, and ran for the vehicle. While I was running, I saw someone on the beach, waving his hands, calling for an ambulance. I saw four people lying on the ground. It was a mess."
---------------------
Asher Hazut, 14, who was struck by lightning on Zikim beach Tuesday along with his two brothers, sister and sister-in-law, passed away in his hospital bed at Barzilai Medical Center on Wednesday, the hospital reported.

Bubble, that was a horrible thing to happen on the beach but I have read advisories about staying away from water and the beaches and that lightning can affect people 25 miles away from the lightning.  It sounds impossible, but strange things do happen.  I like storms but I stay inside, a respectable distance from windows, during a storm.

It's windy on Lake Michigan now, lots of whitecaps, but no storm.

Bubble:  I am sorry for the family being struck by lightning.  It is a huge danger in the high country here as well.  A group from church were hiking on the slopes and lightning killed the young man next to the woman I know.  Even with two doctors, nothing could save his life.  So sad.

Bubble, that is so sad. A happy event turned dangerous by the lightening.
I know of two men that have been struck by lightening, both lived but it sure made them aware of the power of lightening.

Still raining here, loved the sound of it falling as we drove into town..

Hi, Lloyd. Sounds like you had a "heart cath"... did they need to put in any stents?  I had one in March or April & the Dr put in 2 or 3 stents... don't remember which. Mine was done as an "out patient"... in the heart clinic. Went in at 6:00 am & out by 6:30 that night. Didn't even get anything to eat but a sip of Coke & soda cracker. Cannot believe what it cost my insurance! Do take care.

I am going to bed early... up at 2:00 am but did go back for an hour nap before up for the day. Been a busy one, got the tags for the car & paid the taxes... even put the tags on already. Son came over & while checking all the fuse panels managed to get the back up cameras/radio, etc all running & said he didn't do a thing. Loose wire or something, but all's working now. The roofer stopped by with his final bill so I wrote him a check & paid in full. We'll see how much the insurance kicks in since they held back a big chunk of the payment. I scanned his bill & sent to Hartford. He did not charge for all the extra work she caused him... but it's over, almost!

My brain is tired and so is my body. This knee is really giving me grief... I can handle the pain but it's not a habit yet, to concentrate on planting that left foot down & testing before putting weight on it. I don't want it to give out & toss me down a flight of steps or something. I know lots of others have dealt with this but first time for me to have it this way. I've had a bad back most of my life from riding horses that bucked me off... & other dumb things... but always was a back problem. I'll live & quit whining after a while.

Bubble, what shocking news about the lightning! Since I live on sand I will be more careful. When these houses were built they hauled in lots of dirt but only maybe 3-4 inches over the sand. I never thought about being more dangerous because of it... and we do see lightning "drill into the ground" around here. Sympathy for all those families struggling tonight. How sad to have a fun time turn into a nightmare!

Callie, happy to read about the final goal for our girl. Sorry she isn't interested in Wichita, I certainly do believe in the benefits of what they can do.  My sister in law got such a kick out of addressing her daughter as "Doctor Dawn" when she earned her doctor's degree in geriatric pharmacy. Sadly, my brother (her father) didn't live to see her finish. Girls have so many more options than when WE were young, great, huh?

Hope somebody set the auto lights and maybe got the coffee pot ready for morning. One last swipe through the kitchen & I'm closing my peepers. Good night, everyone, and sweet dreams.

Gloria, in my travels today I saw one maple that had a little red.... more dead looking than red.

Jane, did you find those wayward pumpkins? Can't imagine where you could have hidden those. Did you check under the bed?  :D

Just checking in and then out for the niht!

BUBBLE, I remember being told whn I was little (5 or 6 at the most) that if there's a storm at our swimming hole, I should go inside the building immediately!  There was sand all around the water but the building was wood and there were people in there who know what to do!  My heart goes out to those people who were caught in the storm!

SHIRLEY, I didn't find the pumpkins yet but I didn't really look for them this afternoon.  I came home from work tired in body and upset in mind.  I think WM makes some kind of new change on my day off every time I'm not there just to upset me.  And management doesn't seem to think it's necessary to give out any information until you get n  bind!

Tomorrow I'm going to mount a giant search and keep going until I find them.  They HAVE to be here!

And now, I wish you all a peaceful and SLEEPY night!

Good morning everyone.
Raining out, I bet the ground is giving up a sigh of relief to have this moisture back.
I am off to the dentist this morning, then we will head on into the city for a few things. Kyle wants to pick up a looking swivel wheel for one of his benches.

Lloyd, I hope you had a good nights sleep in your own bed last night . Please take it easy today.

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning everyone. Amy Thanks and I did some better. the hardest Part so far today was getting the Bandage Off of my groin where they did the Catherine. Lot of alcohol on cotton did the trick. Have a great day. the stents they put in the artery's a few years ago have clogged completely shut. the ones where they did the procedure are just partly clogged. they think the can take care of that with med's. see you all later

Good morning everyone, could not get in earlier, no internet. This nor'easter is doing more damage than the one last week. Had power  flick on and off last night but other places along the coast are without power. Some places had wind gusts up to hurricane strength. On local news they just showed the ocean and high waves are ro‌lling in one after the other. 2 dumb guys out there on surf boards. Everyone has been warned to stay out of the water but always some thrill seekers think it does not apply to them.

JOY  I cannot stand to cook but as long as I have my rollator I can walk.

CALLIE  there was a time I used to park far from the stores to get some walking in but those days are gone.

BUBBLE  I do know that lightening can strike the ground and travel quite a distance and strike people more than miles away. It happened in this town a few years ago.

LLOYD  you are always missed when you don't post. Glad you survived another heat attack. We want you with us for many years yet.

SHIRLEY  time to get that knee checked out. Not doing that and walking so much could make it worse.

JANE  could those pumpkins have been left in your car?

AMY  when I pulled the shades up this morning I could not see out, The screens were all wet from the rain and wind. Still raining and windy.

Thing I will go back to bed for a nap.
Have a good day.

Well, the fur girls decided to get up early this morning and I couldn't go back to sleep after their pills.  So I did my crossword puzzle and my other word puzzle and now, here I am.

LLOYD, we did all miss you and we're glad to have you back.  I hope all goes well for the rest of your recovery.  It's always good to be back in one's own bed.

I FOUND THE PUMPKINS!  They've been sitting right behind me the whole time not saying a word!  I remember why I have them in my office.  I got them out of the way of the sweeper when my cleaning lady was coming.  Today, I'll get them packed and off to the proper places so they can get them cooked and ready for pumpkin pies for the holidays.

I hope you all have a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Lloyd, they put a new kind of "plug" in my artery or vein the last time.... took weeks to dissolve but eventually did. My doctor reported the by-passes put in 6 years ago were still clean... good for me! Take care.

Isn't that a darling kitty?  Amy, my daughter sent Tom & Tiger Halloween toys yesterday... I'll get a photo to show you, don't think I will let them play with, too cute.  She said in the card that I could eat the candy.  ;)

Gloria, before I go to the Dr with my gimpy leg, I will soak & see if it's necessary. He usually asks what I want to do about one of my "issues" since I don't go for pain pills. He suggests what others do & lets me think about it. I was trying to remember what the name of was that stuff you bought, even heard the commercial again this morning & didn't write it down & already can't remember. I think it might be something really good to keep around, to relax muscles that I can reach & maybe get the kinks out without all the mess of soaking. NOW I remember!  Hempvana, right? Hope you don't have worse weather than it is already. Soon be time for freezing rain & roads.

Got lots of laundry to do & it's warmer today but sure is windy.  Going to get busy!

Good Morning,

I've been "sitting on" this news for almost 6 weeks but couldn't say anything until it was official.    Since she has posted it on her Facebook page, I can now announce that...

Miss Ellen has signed a contract to dance and sing in the Christmas show at The Palace Theater in The Dells, Wisconsin.
They had auditions in New York and she was offered the job from her audition there.  She will fly to Wisconsin next week to begin rehearsals.
There will be 31 performances beginning November 8 and ending on December 29.  There are no performances on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and so, since she won't have time to come home for Christmas ......we're all going to Wisconsin!

Not sure it's the smartest thing for me to do but son says I am going if he/grandson have to carry me!  Looks as if there's plenty to do in The Dells resort area during the winter so family can do their own thing and, other than going to the show, I'll just sit by the fireside and read.

Lloyd,  somehow, I missed seeing about your house issues and your health.  Surely do hope both are getting resolved and you can begin to go Onward and Upward.

Shirley, the muscle from my left hip to and down my left leg is almost constantly uncomfortable and sometimes feels as if it will give way.  I use Blue Emu cream twice a day - no odor and works well.

Jane, sounds as if you "hide" things in your office like I do.  Was looking for the big trash bag holder when I was cleaning out flower beds and couldn't find it anywhere I thought it "should" be.  Went ahead and got stuff bagged without it - then walked into the office and saw it "prominently" setting next to the shredder - where I had used it earlier in the week.
Can we say "if it had been a snake, it would have bitten you" ??  ::)

I've set things out on the kitchen counter to "take care of" today.  Guess I'd better do so - or I won't have any place to fix my lunch.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS ELLEN! I'm sure your whole family is proud of her and I bet you can see the glow from her all the way down in OK.  I wondered what the was in the sky passing over my house!

And, yes, I do HIDE stuff in my office and I often forget that's where it is.  They are now in the local post office and will be leaving there sometime tonight for a very fast flight to Texas.  They are supposed to arrive on Saturday.  That's good because they are usually home on Saturday!

Now I have to feed myself some lunch, give the "girls" a snack and then get ready to keep a dr. appt. in a town about a 20 minute drive away.  It's a really windy day but it's not raining and the sun isn't glaring down in one's eyes so it should be an OK drive.

Keep doing what you're doing!

Callie, you must be so proud of Miss Ellen and her achievements!! All her hard work has paid off!!

The day has been a wet windy one and I am glad to be home by the fire. My poor boy (dog) next door has a sore hind leg and is now on meds to help it. We will be looking after him and the cat until Mon, no running, no going up stairs or no going out in the back yard without a leash on :(  We call him our dog but they look after him :) He is such a sweetheart and I wish/hope his leg heals quickly. If not I am not sure what is going to happen, he is 11 but doesn't show it.

Jane, happy to read you found your pumpkins. I am going to start my seeds early next year but I thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow this year.

What a thrill for the whole family (including US), Callie... your grands are each realizing their own dreams. So young to be finding their way and such great parents to help each be their own person! Congratulations & that trip sounds like a winner to me. Like you, I don't need to be in the thick of it to enjoy. Thanks for the tip about Blue Emu. I promise myself I will take time out to soak me but find excuses not to do it. The muscles a hand length above & below the knee hurt now so just lazy not doing it.

Aw, Amy you are the best neighbor possible to take care of pets. That is the best favor anyone can do, I think, because we hate to trust our babies to someone that really doesn't want to do it. In MY world we will get to see all these fur & feathered critters we've loved and cared for when we reach our Heaven. It wouldn't be Heaven without them, right?

Gloria, was wondering if Regina still finds time to paint.... Tell her the "in thing" around here right now is doing a group of different sizes to cluster together on a wall. She needs to think of sending you some smaller ones.... shipping the canvas BOARD ones is not nearly as much trouble as stretched canvas. Do you have Hobby Lobby near?  Maybe your son or one of the family could take you to shop for frames if you happen to get something like that for Christmas. I hoped to do some for my kids but hauled all the canvases down to the basement yesterday, to clean up this family room. I can't paint off in another room, want where I can see what is going on & can stretch the phone cord to the kitchen or family room table where I paint (25 ft.cord). I can't use both hands when on the portable or cell phones so still have my wall phone connected.

Whose turn is it to turn out the lights?  I'm done with the kitchen, fed cats & ready to climb into bed. Didn't do laundry today, still uneasy with the new washer. It senses the amount of clothes to know how much water, but still have to put the pods in to clean, smell good & soften... and I think it needs deeper water than it does! I'll get used to it... in a few years.  ::)   Sweet dreams and God Bless.... Love y'all.......Shirley

I have an appointment to get a massage this morning, will see how that goes and I hope it works!

Jane, good morning, hope you have an easy day today.

Gloria, I think I am going to make a bit f apple sauce this morning. Just have Cortlands to use but should turn out all right.

Lloyd, hope you had a good nights sleep and please take it easy today. You have earned easy days.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm up and I've been out with the doggie and we're waiting for the boinger but I'm afraid this will be the easiest part of my day.  I'll be behind my counter at WM from 9-1 and then hurry home to see to the doggies and get myself ready for a drs. appt. at 3:00 but the good part is, this only a regular check up and unless she finds something wrong, it won't take long.

There goes the boinger.  I'm off to do breakfast and then get myself ready for work

Good morning everyone, Slept later this morning just because I wanted to get up early. My #1 son called me yesterday and asked me if I would like to go shopping today, YES! I wi‌g into the market, must be almost a year since the last time he took me to the market, spent over $200. that time and most likely will stock up again today.

JANE  glad you found the pumpkins. Odd how things can be in plain sight and you cannot find them.

SHIRLEY  you got the name right  I got it from a the add on TV. It has helped more than all the other things I have bought, even horse liniment and only use a tiny bit of it and said it can be used up to 4  times a day. My back is feeling much better but the pain is still there on rainy days but not as sharp. Maybe look online for it?

CALLIE  good for Ellen. She is sticking to what she wants and keeps getting better. Enjoy the visit to the Dells and getting to see her perform. I tr ed the Blue Emu and it did nothing. The Hempvana has no odor either and is a soft cream that sinks in and feels good right away.

JANE  the rain here stopped early morning but the wind was strong all day, I could hear it whistling at this corner of the building and I dislike that sound. Finally dropped at sunset. Down to 42° now so just might put on my winter jacket when my son picks me up later.

AMY  the wind yesterday here was as bad as a hurricane, some places along the shore had gust up to 100 MPH. Not that bad here. Once again I am glad I do t live near the shore but as far inland in this state as can be.

SHIRLEY  my daughter has only done one painting since they moved. Right now she is busy making Christmas gifts. I know I always like something home made as a gift. She has loved crafts even before she started school.

LLOYD  hope you had a good sleep last night and woke refreshed this morning.

AMY  Cortlands are good for every thing. I still think a mix of varieties makes the best tasting applesauce and pies. After the Macs when first ripe and tart and juicy I like the Empires. They will keep a long time and do not get soft like the Macs do.

Have a good day.

The last couple of days haven't been that good but I'm still here and today seems to be a better one.  David and I went grocery shopping yesterday but it was hard.  Didn't feel too good and had a lot of "brain fog".  I probably didn't get everything we will need for the week but David says he can always go out and get whatever is necessary.  I had trouble with the card machine.  Couldn't make my debit card work even after trying several times.  Finally, David used his.  I realized later that I was using the wrong pin number.  As I said, it wasn't a good day.  :(

Lloyd, do what the doctors tell you to do.  And stressing out about your situation with your "friend" is not good for your heart.  Try to not worry....things will work out for you, I'm sure.

Callie, such good news for your granddaughter.  So happy for her and for all of your family.  I know the trip to Wisc. will be hard for you but your loving family will take care of you and it will be a wonderful memory for you to treasure.

Gloria, I don't like the wind either.  I hope there won't be too much this weekend.....for either you, up there, or me, down here.

It is chilly, but a beautiful Fall day here and I am enjoying it.  There is the "promise" of bad weather over the weekend so take extra care all of you in the path of it.

Lloyd, I was told by the massage therapist to go home and do nothing so nothing I did!. I wasn't allowed to sew either and that didn't make me happy but another day I will.

Went and fed my charges, both these animals are so loving. Callie the cat has a purr that would melt your heart  and Rex well he is already in our hearts.

Phyliss  glad today is a better day for you. One really appreciates the good days and with luck forget about the bad ones.

Chilly to the point of putting the fire on for the evening.

I'm ready for bed. Cats all fed & not sure where they want to spend the night. I got the Hempvana cream today... would you believe Walmart carries it??? It is in the aisle called: I've seen it on TV.... or something like that. Same price. I tried soaking my back in case it is what causing the knee to be so sore. Fell asleep & didn't stretch the back bones & twist to stretch all those bones apart to let the nerves get untangled, so didn't help. Put the cream on & that didn't help so will have to do better or visit the doctor. I've tried different shoes to see if that helped, boo hoo..... Can't believe another week end!!!

Wishing all a good night, sweet dreams & go get'em tomorrow!  Every person is not reporting in every day. Phyllis, thanks for showing up. Joy, ring the bell when you come in... Mary Ann is missing again. Lloyd is back.  Gloria, Jane & Amy are holding the fort.... Let's hang in to keep this place open!

Here I am, Shirley.  I made a discovery tonight that will interest Gloria.  Years ago we both talked about an "eppi" plant (there's more to the name, but I don't remember it - I only remember I called it an orchid cactus).  I had one plant that had 35 blossoms on it one year.  It got too large so I gave it away, but kept some shoots.  In the summer, I'd put it on my deck so it would get rain and sunshine.  The plant is now inside and while I was eating my supper and talking to the cat, I saw a little red mixed in with the green foliage.  I have one blossom on my plant!  October is not the usual month to see a blossom but I'll take it.

I went to the dermatologist's office today to check on my skin cancer surgery and he said everything was fine; I should continue to put Vaseline and a bandaid on it for another 10 days and I don't have to go back until January.  I hope that's the end of my medical appointments for a while.

This year our church is celebrating our 150th anniversary and a committee is furnishing a meal after church Sunday for those who signed up for it.  Dot and I will go together.

If tomorrow is nice, Tom said he'd take me around our county to see if there is any color.  He was in upper lower Michigan a couple days ago and there was some color there, but also some brown leaves.  That area has more trees than we do in the lower part of the state, but we do get some pretty stands of reds and oranges.  When I was driving, I took myself on color tours.  Now, too old and no car!

Good morning everyone, well I did enjoy going to the market yesterday. You might have thought I was buying enough for a big family. I did stock up my freezer with thing I like and are easy to prepare. My son pushed the shopping cart and reached for what I wanted that I could not reach and my DIL too cart and got what they wanted. Good thing they too car instead of his small car. Between what we got you might have thought we were running a boarding house or something. He brought every thing I bought up here and then went home and unloaded their things and came back to help me put every thing away. I think I was ready for bed by 6 pm.

When I pulled up my shades this morning I saw the cars were white with frost, 35°. Will be too soon when we will be lucky to see 35 for a high. Oh well Mother Nature will do as she wants.

PHYLLIS  sons are wonderful especially when they help us when we really need it. I know if my daughter was here I would not have to worry about cooking. I have not heard any weather reports so have no idea what we are in for this week end.

LLOYD  glad you had a good night's sleep. That  is what  you need more of. Stop worrying so much. Every thing seems to work out the way it is supposed to. I do think you so called friend took advantage of your good heart.

AMY  when I woke this morning I turned up the heat in here and  now it is nice and warm  but not too warm.  I  don't need anyone to tell me to do nothing, these days it hard to do anything.

SHIRLEY  looks like you need to see your doctor about the knee. I know the Hempvana has helped my back a lot. You might have damaged something that needs a doctor to fix. Since I seldom get out to a store I don't know what Walmart now carry anymore. Glad I get online and get a few catalogs I like, get so‌ I just put in recycle.

MARY ANN  My daughter had  several Eppies  hanging in her yard in San Diego and she gave them all away before they moved. I remember you talking about all the flowers you had on yours and the one you sent me. It died when I moved here. After the rain and wind we had a lot of the trees that were showing color are bare.

JANE  looks like I got here before you today.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone.

All dogs and cat have been fed.  Just need to go over in a bit and open the curtains and turn the tv off. I hope people think someone is home over there.

Today is laundry day and take garbage away to the dump. Judging by the way I feel that will be enough.

Gloria, sounds like you had a fun day out, plus you have your pantry/freezer well stocked. We also had a heavy frost this morning but what a lovely star studded sky it was earlier.

Shirley, another cream is Voltarin but all in all your Dr may have a better solution for you.

Mary Ann, great review from your dermatologist. How long has it been since surgery?

Jane, where are you...you didn't sign in last night???

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Amy, my surgery was October 1.  It was a small spot about 1/4-inch square.  I now have a red spot about that size.  The doctor said eventually the skin will cover the spot and it will be healed.

Gloria, I'm sorry your eppi died.  I can always send you another "slip" but it takes so long for them to develop.  My present plant is kind of stringy and this is the first blossom I've had since I gave the other plant away.

I've showered and shampooed and when I'm dry I hope Tom will give me a ride around the county to see if there is any color.  Outside it looks kind of dreary, but I think rain is not in the forecast.

One thing that makes a day perfect for leaf watching is when the sun pops out & makes the colors glow. Then it is most fun to be the passenger to keep taking pictures & ohh & ahh till the driver wants to shove a sock in!!!  ;D  I plan one more trip to MO before the snow flies, can't plan on weather but lots of maples for color, cottonwoods for their yellows & white bark on the sycamores. Add in the pines & cedars for green accent and you get candy for the eyes. Happy leaf looking to all!

I've got to stay focused today, bought a couple more eye of round roasts yesterday & is easier to freeze after being cooked & ground... so will do that today.  Lots of laundry to do, not happy with my experience with the new washer so far. I don't think it puts in enough water (but do give it 2 rinse cycles) & since pods are one size I think too much detergent for the small loads. Maybe I like to do the thinking & not the machine being so bossy??? We will come to terms one of these days.

Mary Ann, I was so thrilled with all the blooms on the bougainvillea plant my youngest son gave me a few years ago, but it has slowly shed it's leaves & no blooms at all. These dark tinted storm windows are not good for flowers, but I keep trying to perk it up. I have 2 different types of pots/plants in a back bedroom that gets sun from the east & south, they look pathetic but I don't have the heart to toss them. The last plant he gave me (nearly 2 years ago) needs to be re-potted, it looks ridiculous, monster size plant in a tiny pot. I'm afraid I'll kill it if I put it in a much larger pot. It sits in the prime spot of living room that shows when the front door opens.

Not sure why this son thinks I need plants.... or he gives me decorative things like solar butterflies, etc. I do love what he comes up with & guess that's the way he sees me. My other son gives me tools, leaf blower, battery powered drill, etc. From my daughter comes the extravagant things I'd never spend for but do enjoy... I try to tell them to not get me anything for Christmas but I know it is fun to give.... Gloria, I'm with you about loving the hand made things.

Today is hair wash day & it needs a trim, hate that mess.  Do wish I could find someone to do it my way... if I use anything except a single edge sharp razor blade it sticks out. If I take one snip with a scissors you can tell the exact clump until it gets cut the next time with a razor blade. I do use scissors on the back of my neck after tapering down with a blade... to edge straight. Getting harder all the time with that being the distance I have most trouble with my eyes. I've been told that hair dressers are not allowed to use razor blades so will hang in for now. Every time I try to grow out so I can pull it back into pony tail or bun, it gets down on my neck & I go crazy... I've been doing this since 8th grade. Back then the hair was as thick & coarse as horse hair... and pitch black.

So that's my world today. Sun is out, wind is blowing & I know is colder than it looks. Except for brown grass & leaves, a very nice fall day. Wagon Train is on so will go have another cup of coffee & few minutes of what I think would have been a very interesting time of living. I do think I would have taken a wagon train west but probably traveled back often to visit family, maybe with OUT cats!
:roflBig:   :hello:

Both Tom and I looked at the info about color in our area and it seems we should wait a week or two, so we will.  I notice when I look at the ships on the St Clair River that the trees in Canada are starting to turn so it won't be long.

Shirley, with the bougainvillea baby it during the winter, then do you have any little corner outside where the sun shines (and the wind does not blow) where you can hide the plant?  I've been west of the Mississippi and I know how the wind blows.  I had mine on the deck and it did OK a few years, but eventually died.  I had mine in a hanging basket and maybe it needed repotting but it didn't get it.

Shirley, your washer sounds like one Jim bought where he had to have a certain detergent and I wouldn't touch the washer.  I think a salesman sold Jim a "bill of goods".  I was with him when he bought a new dishwasher and that presented no problems.  After Jim died his granddaughter has been living in the house so she inherited the appliances.  I've never asked her how she and the washer get along.

When our washer quit spinning, Tom wanted a front-load so that is what we bought.  My old one was about 30 years old so didn't owe us a thing.  Since I no longer go down the stairs, the washer and dryer are Tom's babies and he is getting along fine with them.

Tom is going to bring me a burger from Mc Donald's when he returns about 2 pm or so.  That is the only time I eat a burger - when he brings one back and that might be once a week, maybe not that often.

The day is disappearing fast! Laundry blew out on the line and is now put away. We went to the dump and saw that the bears had been there also....gosh what a mess they make!  We then went over to have a coffee/tea at the wee store down the road and the bears had been there also! The lady that owns the store said one year she had to have the bear removed and taken to another area.
I have fed all dogs and Callie too. She likes to reach up with her front paws and hold your hand.....she is such a sweet cat.

Jane , where are you???

Joy is missing also...

Dryer is running & I just walked the cats down to the river. They all roll in the sand, sharpen their claws on the willows & hide from each other. They are waiting in the pool area for their last meal of the day. Spoiled Callie refused to eat the canned chicken breast so it will be in her dish along with the Friskies.

Still have to trim my hair & shower, Sat night bath, you know. Oops, dryer stopped so better go fold. Sweet dreams to all...

Amy, I'd love to be in bear country but probably get in trouble. They really are too big to play with, aren't they?  ::)

Mary Ann, I didn't notice when looking for a washer, that it doesn't operate like all others. This is a Maytag but calls for the EH or whatever the code is detergents, softners, etc. But I looked tonight & see that my normal Downy has that code as well so guess I don't have to use pods. We will adjust to each other sooner or later. I don't like changes...period!

Gloria, I'm going to put that stuff on thicker after my shower, maybe it takes more on the leg (tougher skin?). I can't lift the leg up to put on socks... strange, can't tell where it hurts to rub but nearly squirt tears out to walk or even straighten it out when sitting. Doesn't make sense at all. At least it isn't my driving leg!

Wishing everyone a Super Sunday.... smiles and happy thoughts.  Shirley

Shirley, Jim and Joan had had a Maytag pair so I am sure when his washer went on the fritz, he went to the store and said he wanted a Maytag.  He got one, but probably the most expensive one.  At the time, he was living alone and had only his own wash.  I am sure there were other Maytag washers in the store, but Jim was gullible and bought what was suggested.  Yes, you will get used to it.

It's been one of those days!  In fact, it's been one of those weeks!  And I'm glad it's over.  However, next week is shaping up to be "one of those weeks, too".

Cathy and I went to he Amish Store today and, among other things, I got the beginnings of the Christmas fruit cake and some chocolate to start the candy.  If it's not one thing going on, it's the next.  Never a dull moment around here!

My daughter, Christy, the one in Maryland is here tonight.  She came to bring some of Frankie's stuff from down there and to move some of the stuff out of my shed and into F's new apartment.  See what I mean?  Tomorrow is shaping up to be another busy day!

And on top of Annie's "itchies", Mickie has developed a case of the "trots".  We were out at 3 a.m. this morning and I hope that's not going to happen again.  But I'm glad she has warning!

Now I'm off to bed.  Christy already went.  She has early mornings in her life.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one.

P.S. Night light on. Overheads off!

This is going to be a quickie.  Dogs have to be fed and I'm getting ready for church at 8.  But I have my coffee and it's already been so busy that I'm ready to "set a spell" and drink my coffee.

LLOYD, I'm sorry you're having trouble with your computer but I hope your feeling better and on the mend. Don't forget that worrying puts a strain on our whole bodies.  I have to remind myself of that sometimes before my blood pressure jumps!  Remind yourself often!

It's supposed to rain later today so we may be moving Frankie's stuff in he rain.  At least the mattress is up there already and we don't have to wonder how to keep that dry.

I hope you all have a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way.

Not sure how much sleep I got... few hours if lucky. Up about 2:00 am with a knee/leg aching, craziest thing that it is such pain to lift it...just raise it enough to turn over. Imagine the worst charlie-horse you've ever had & being in the knee instead of calf. Can't see a thing wrong... just ugly old leg with bright purple veins! I wrapped an Epsom soaked towel around the leg, covered with plastic & heat pad for an hour. Didn't help. :crazy2:

Fed Tom, he is always thinking meal time. Tiger didn't show up for their last meal last night & still not home this morning. I always think "little Miss Nosy" probably got caught in someone's open garage & closed in. They freeze in place if someone shows up & they can't get away before they spot the person. I've watched one do that in my garage (not these cats but a different feral). They are free to roam so anything can happen to them. I will go serve Callie her breakfast in bed...she loves her heated bed in the garage & acts so pleased to get breakfast brought out. She lets me know if she wants inside or in the garage or out in the pool area with her kids. They have me well trained.

Better get moving, I'm dressed & ready to leave but would stop to feed Tiger if she shows up. Have a Super Sunday!

Good morning everyone..

Shirley, get that leg checked out....could it be a blood clot??? You sure don't want that!

Back from my charges and he is doing great, still limps on that leg but could stand on it to water the grass. :)
Have a ham bone that should be into bean/pea soup so that is a job for the IP.

Jane, take it easy, let the younger ones do a lot of the bull work. Now why does pot calling the kettle black come into mind??? Well just take it easy.

Better go see what our dogs are up to...too quiet and he has yet to reach the other side of the earth from dinning....but soon.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone 35° and the thermostat go turned up when I got up. Yesterday was a sunny day and I did get out for a walk but it was still a little windy so did not stay out long. Finally got every ting I bought Friday put away, now the galley kitchen looks better. I do miss a big kitchen with a lot of storage. So many thing get stored on the floor in the one closet in here. Oh well I really do not need a lot of THINGS anymore so that helps.

AMY  I have seen pantrys bigger than my kitchen. The fridge and freezer are not as big as the one I bought back in 1978-still running at my son's house in my old apartment. The ones here ate taller and less room cheap ones. Both GE but not same quality. They are starting to replace some that no longer keep food cold or frozen.

LLOYD  hope you slept better last night. Lack of sleep is not good for anyone.

MARY ANN  thank you for the offer but this place only has 2 windows and we are supposed to keep them clear in case of a fire and the firemen can get into the windows if needed. Then with the baseboard heat it gets too hot for plants near the windows. The few I have do not need sunshine as long as the room is bright. The lack of windows still gets to me. First place I have lived that I do not have windows on all sides but means less of them to wash.

SHIRLEY  I found an east window is great for plants, early sun does not burn them. If y our plant gets too many roots in a small pot it does need repotting, roots do have to have room to grow. Ask your son to repot it. My daughter and her family always looked forward to the goody box I sent for Christmas with different cookies and fudge all home made by me. I can no longer make any of those things.
I wish they still used the razor for haircuts, when they started using scissors my hair was never the same of course scissors are much faster. At least I can look out a window and see the maples at the back of it parking lot and now they have green leaves on the lower branches but the tops are a deep red and in the mornings when the sun is shining on them they glow. I should get myself a camera so could take pictures of it. Now whose fault  is it that you have cats? Not mine for sure. I talked to my CNA yesterday ad she is still having trouble with her leg, almost 2 weeks, On Tuesday she has an appointment with a Orthopedic doctor and will see what happens then. I sure miss her, so used to having the same one all the time and I have been having a different one every day since she has been out. Some are OK and others just want to sit.

JANE  glad you showed up before we sent a search party off to find you. My oldest son looks forward to the holiday season when he can buy some fruitcake but last year could not find any. I always see them in a catalog I get around that time so if I get that one this year again  I will order one for him.

LLOYD  hope you slept better last night.

Have a good day.

Storm Nestor is with us so it is a rainy, dark morning. But, we needed the rain.

I'm having appliance problems, too.  The dishwasher has just quit....again.  I am trying to decide if I should call a repairman or just get rid of this thing.  It is 9 or 10 years old.  For now, I must wash dishes by hand.  I have NEVER enjoyed dishwashing!  :tickedoff:

I am still learning to live with the clothes washer I bought several months ago, Shirley.  I don't like the water level sensor feature.  I wish it would let me set my own water level according to how much water I think it needs to do a good job.  Why can't these manufacturer's let us make our own decisions?  I really dislike all of these automation features that never seem to fit my requirements and always seem to fail.  The more bells and whistles they load on the more chance that they won't work!

Oh, well. If it weren't for the problems and decisions to be made life would be really dull.

Take care, All.

Back from church & breakfast at McDonald's with the family. My DIL brought me a small loaf of banana bread, she does make good banana bread & those small loaves are perfect for one person. I'm going to soak my back, was a struggle with the kneeling & walking so gotta get serious. Got to be that bunch of nerves causing the problem. Since Fitbit says I got 2 hours & 15 min sleep, will probably doze off while soaking.

Jane, have you ever tried castor oil (just plain ole kind from the drug store...odorless/tasteless).. for the ichies on your fur babies?  I put it on our German Shepherd's (just rub it in with fingers) when she would chew off whole patches. Doesn't hurt them & sure worked for her. She didn't particularly like the taste, but also seemed to stop the itch. Used for all kind of skin rashes when we lived in England. I even had my daughter bring be back a jar from Boots the Chemist when she was there. She was surprised that the lady she asked where it was knew all about it.  ;) Over there they mix with powdered zink & works miracles. Not sure the zink part would be good for the pups.

Phyllis, I haven't used my dish washer but a few times since Cas died. I have a dish pan in one sink & drainer with mat on the side & works perfectly for my needs. I've been told not good to NOT use a dish washer because the rubber gaskets dry out, so now I'm afraid to run it! Most of my dishes are pots & pans that I never put in the washer so not a problem. I do recall a repair man saying that "unless a dishwasher SAYS you don't need to pre-wash, consider the fact they do NOT come with a garbage disposal built in, so all those food particles have to go somewhere!" Sometimes life is just easier when we cut out all the "time saving" features.

Gloria, I found the Shick injector blades at a local drugstore... 5 in a pack for $5.00.. so makes a cheap hair cut. If you can reach to trim around your face & leave the back to the beauticians, you might at least get the front to please you. I dread when I can't do the back myself because it really does stick out like straw when cut with scissors.

The wind is blowing something fierce, sun shining but cool enough to feel like fall. I love this time of year.

Good evening from Sunny Southern California💥

We have enjoyed a wonderful time here.  Spent 4 days with Dave, Michele and family.  They flew back to Colorado last night and we fly back tomorrow night.  We spent this day just looking at famous beach towns.  We intended to go to the Richard Nixon Library, but found out you need to buy tickets in advance, so that took care of that.  First tickets available now are on the 27th!  Thought about Ronald Regan Library, but it is a bit farther than we wanted to drive today.  We drove as far north as Long Beach.  Then drove back to Huntington Beach where we had dinner at a cute place right on the water in the marina.  The boats in the marina were more like Yachts!

A new picture of my Jonah.  His other grandparents are in Sacramento with he and his family....hence the Green Bay outfit!  He is getting so big and really thinning out now that he is walking!

We have been very short on cellular data, so I have been trying my best to stay off of the internet.  We are in a hotel tonight with internet so I am trying to get caught up!

It is cold and very windy in Denver, so I am certainly not looking forward to going home😩😢

Michele posted this with a picture of her kiddos on the beach, and I hope you will not mind me sharing this with you all?

"As I sat on the beach tonight, watching our last sunset while on vacation in California, as my kids played in the Pacific, I was overcome with so much gratitude. I started crying and grabbed Dave's hand. I told him I couldn't believe how blessed I was to be here in this moment. All I want is to see my kids grow up and to grow old with him.  His reply was that I'm one of lucky ones who actually realizes what a gift life is. He's so right.

I'm so lucky to be alive. Yes, I'm still Stage 4, I still have cancer. I've completed chemo and will start radiation when I return to Colorado. I share this because I realize my posts don't reflect my illness, my everyday battle. But, I sure hope they reflect my gratitude for each day I'm given. Go love on your loved ones and I'll be right here kicking cancers ass loving on mine, too! xo #grateful #teammichelehardin #kickingrectalcancersass"

pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We've been up and out and put the chicken to cooking...one pot to make dog food and one pot for my dinner.

All this talk of fruit cake makes me wish I could share with all of you.  Mine isn't as fancy as the ones you see on line but the recipe has been around long enough to know that it's good stuff.  I happened to mention to Christy that I'd bought some of the stuff to get started on fruit cake and she said, "Was Gong in the kitchen with you?"  My kids all called my mother "Gong".  It's what came out when Cathy tried to call her by name and it stuck.  She loved it!  I heard her tell someone once that her grandkids must think she's the world's biggest ding-a-ling!

I'm off to Wally World this morning!  Maybe, while I'm out, I'll check what the postage would be to send a half pound fruit cake in the mail.  If it's reasonable, I'll let you know and you can tell me before the second week in November if you're really interested or just being nice.

Gotta go, the boinger is going off and the fur kids don't like to wait.  After we're all fed, I have to get a shower and get ready for work.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Nice day so far, calling for rain Tue to Fri  unless they change their minds.

All the animals are feed, walked and loved for now. I do believe the medication is  working on Rex's leg, he seems to be doing better.

Today is voting day and we will do that after I take Kyle for his appointment. One can't or shouldn't complain about the government unless they vote.

Better get at it.

Good morning everyone, woke later than I have been doing but slept good. 49°, warmer than the mornings have been. Had some rain last night.

LLOYD  does no good to worry, that problem will hurt the man who brought it on will suffer more than you when he realizes he has lost a very good friend.

PHYLLIS  glad the washers in here are easy to use, like you with the buttons and whistles on every thing I would never be able to understand them.

SHIRLEY  at one time I would cut the top of my hair but now I even have trouble brushing/combing my hair.

JENNY  Michele is one brave lady. We never know when where or who will be hit with that rotten cancer.

MARY ANN  wrote that address down. Thanks.

JANE  my Mom made fruitcake and I never liked it and never had a recipe for it. Now I would not be able to make one if I wanted to.

AMY  hope the voting lines are too long.

Have a good day.

I used to make a fruitcake with a spice cake mix and a container of citron, nothing fancy but it seemed to disappear each Christmas.  I am sure there was something else in it but I don't remember what.  I haven't made it in years and since I don't cook or bake any more, I won't be making it again.  I do remember that I covered it with cheesecloth, then poured some rum over it for a few weeks.  Maybe that is why it tasted so good.

Jenny, what a thought provoking post by Michele..... and I'm moved to tears by her attitude. Dave is lucky and the kids have quite a role model to live up to for the rest of their lives. I still pray for a miracle and that they will have many years to love on each other. Thank you for posting her message. Can't believe how Jonah has grown & changed, he looks like at least 2-3 years old, but still think he looks like YOU! Something about him reminds me of your expressive face when we "met on the mountain". I don't remember that I have a touch screen on this laptop until I want to see something like that little boy's face... and can enlarge with a twist of fingers!

I'm enjoying all the talk about fruit cake, brings back memories of Christmas in England. My mother wasn't a fruit cake fan but Dad's mother made a fruit cake that was an award winner (so Mother said). It was really a prune cake & had fruit & nuts in that & my mind went over the top in disgust. My youngest brother had convinced me that the raisins were ticks... like their hunting dogs would have from being in the woods. Icky big blood suckers that everyone pulled off as the dogs went past. I imagined all the the other stuff in the cake just as horrible, so having that cake sit on the pedestal of the "sideboard" (a beautifully carved piece of walnut wood furniture that sat in a place of honor in the dining room), couldn't miss seeing the cake as the light from the window just west of the cake would light it up like a spotlight. It was my worst nightmare because we were not allowed to say we didn't care for any, "just a small piece, please" was the best we could do. I have never gotten over my dread of any type cake with "stuff" in it, so when the neighbor in England explained how long they worked on their fruit cake before Christmas, I was prepared with my response of, "only a small piece, please".... I still pick raisins out of cinnamon rolls, or don't eat the rolls at all, but keep a can of raisins on the cabinet to snack on since they are so good for us.  ;)

My good news this morning is the leg is working, not normal but the sharp pain is gone & while the muscles are weak from a week long lack of exercise, I think the worst is over. Being careful so it doesn't snap back out of place, whatever it was.  Since the leg wouldn't allow me to bend down, I have a ton of stuff to fold & put away. Merry Monday to all.... guess that soaking helped after all yesterday.

I apologize if this was posted previously.....

This is just a beautifully written piece; and so true. Take a couple of minutes to read it. You'll be glad you did.
A WINTER FRIEND
This article is so befitting for all of us... take time to ponder... the last statement cannot be refuted:-

I FIRST STARTED READING THIS EMAIL AND WAS READING FAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD SENTENCE. I STOPPED THEN AND STARTED OVER, READING SLOWER, AND THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD... IT MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK.
So, please READ SLOWLY!
AND THEN IT IS WINTER
You know time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems like yesterday that I was young, just married, and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all those years went.
I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams. But, here it is... the winter of my life, and it catches me by surprise... How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those "older people" were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.
But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting grey... they move slower and I see an older person in myself now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me... but, I see the great change... Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.
Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so... now I enter this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last... this I know, that when it's over on this earth... it's over. A new adventure will begin!
Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done... things I should have done, but indeed, there are also many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.
So, if you're not in your winter yet... let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life, please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!! Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can TODAY, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not!
You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life.. so, LIVE FOR TODAY and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember.. and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!
"Life" is a GIFT to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.
Remember: "It is Health that is real Wealth and not pieces of gold and silver."
~Your kids are becoming you......but your grandchildren are perfect!
~Going out is good.. coming home is even better!

Great piece, Don.... and if anyone posted it before, I forgot. Thanks for showing up & bringing it.

Busy day around here... nothing much accomplished but didn't get a nap so will be heading to bed before long. Cats had their last meal for the day, Callie sleeping in her heated bed in the garage, Tom & Tiger strolling around the house trying to decide if they will stay in or go out. The light is on downstairs because I thought I might do a little ironing. Didn't happen. Kind of between seasons, had to drag out a cooler shirt that had made it's way to the under bed storage containers. Plan to do some sorting as I store this season.

Sweet dreams to all or good night if nobody shows to turn out the lights.  :'(

I am also off to bed. Folks Are back home and happy with the healing of Rex's leg. Told them about the young fox that was playing chicken in the traffic and I hope it stays off the road.

Jenny, I think we all take our health for granted until we hear of others fighting for theirs. Michele is a strong lady and will get through all of this..

Jane, get the light please..

whine whine whine!  Why do I always have to get the lights?  OK, I'll do it but if JENNY comes by it's not my fault if she stumbles.

And speaking of JENNY, I loved your item from Michele!  She must be one heckove a lady!  I cried with her.  You can certainly be proud of her!

DON, your piece fit right in with the rest of my day.  I guess you might say I'm in that "winter" too!  I had two phone calls from different doctors.  The one who took the tissue sample out of my jaw wants me to come back.  The lab where she sent the sample for the biopsy wants a larger sample so that's one thing.  Then  guess they've been reporting my blood pressure levels and my regular PCP wants me to come in.  They even called me and set up a special visit and she wants me to take home a monitor and check it twice a day.  I'm afraid my days of "no internal meds" are coming to an end.  The worst part is, I'm going to have to tell my kids because they'd never forgive me if something happened and I hadn't forewarned them.

The chiropractor that I'm going to tomorrow is also an applied kinesiologist and a licensed herbalist.  I'm going to discuss it with her before I have my appointment tomorrow evening with the PCP.

And now I'm going to get ready for bed and like Scarlett O'Hara, "I'll think about that tomorrow"

Lights are out!  Night light is on!

Good morning everyone.
Woke to the sound of the falling rain..could have  stayed in bed and just enjoy the music it was making.

Today is a get the little jobs done around home and hope to sew more.

Lloyd, doesn't that make you want to spit nails when the cattle do that?? I tried 3 times to get a bull loaded and on the fourth time when I went to his pen told him if he didn't go out a bull he would go out as a steer!! Once I opened the gate he trotted right out and right in the truck, leaving the trucker and I opened mouthed.

Jane ,thank you for turning out the lights.:)
Your Dr is taking good care of you monitoring your bp. I know mine raises when I go to the Dr.....white coat syndrome :).

Gloria, the line wasn't long and it gave one a chance to visit with neighbours. Now we won't have to listen to all the commercials with politicians running each other down.

Shirley, happy to read your leg is better. There are days here you can go out with just a tshirt and the next day you may need a coat! All too soon it will be heavy coat, boots and gloves..

Better get going here.

Hi to Phyliss and Joy if you get a chance to pop in.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The boinger is about to go off and then my day will begin!  Cathy's picking me up at 9 for our trip to the chiropractor and then a stop at he pharmacy for eye drops on the way home.  This early evening will be a trip to my regular PCP and, hopefully, a nap in between.

There goes the boinger and my day begins.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning every one, 47° and overcast at 7:30 am. Yesterday the sun was bright and warm and I enjoyed my walk. Does me good to walk around in the fresh air, even slept later this morning. Today Providence joined other cities that stopped using plastic bags. It is not just plastic bags that cause the problems.

SHIRLEY  I am like you with raisins. I pick them out of hot cross buns that my Mom made at Easter. I just do not like them, never liked fruitcake or marmalade either. Don't like the thought of eating citrus peels. Only one in my family that would not eat it. Now to find my older son loves it was a surprise, never had them before he got married. Must be like my family was, my Mom made all those things and I would never even try them. Always was a picky eater. Glad your knee is starting to feel better.

DONKLAN  love your post and it is so true. I did copy it, I hope you do not  mind.

AMY  your neighbors must have been happy that Rex is doing better.

JANE  I know I am in the winter of my life, cannot do much anymore and need an afternoon nap/rest every afternoon. Think the couch is getting the shape of my body by now. Hmm wonder if your WM job is getting to the end. About time you joined the rest of us here-RETIRED.

LLOYD  sorry those 2 cattle jumped the fence and did not want to get in the truck. At least you will not have to take care of them anymore.

AMY  I have a sis in law with the White Coat Syndrome. Something that never bothered me. By now I am getting used to it. Right now there is too many Democrats running for president and I am so tired of hearing them knock one another and the current president.

JANE  good luck with your doctor appointments today.

AMY  such a cute graphic. Thanks.

Have a good day.

Jane, I read your message before going to bed, just couldn't think of anything to say so didn't say. I could feel your heavy heart, been there a few times as we all have, I'm sure.... so hugs for the worrying (keep on doing the worrying tomorrow & first thing you know, no need to worry!) Extra thoughts when talkig to God, that He has better days ahead for you. Hope the trip to the chiropractor gives you a boost, wish I knew of a good one near me.

Amy, that a darling graphic.... love the talking to you gave that bull.  These cats know when I mean business by the tone of my voice. With Tom, I get the point across with a squirt bottle of water. Just have to hold it in my hand & he marches off to what or where he is supposed to be. Like an ornery little boy, I hold it up in the RV & he heads back to the bedroom & jumps on the bed & lays down to wait for next instructions. You should see him grin at me when he does it.

Lloyd, glad you are getting rid of the cattle.... we are all having to "downsize" our lives to save energy for what is most important (like just hanging on). Not easy to part with what has been important to us for so many years. What is really important is family and making them have happy memories for the rest of their lives.

Cats woke me up, wanted in & out and early breakfast so think I will go back for a couple more hours sleep and start this day over. I want to get one more trip in to MO for a cousin reunion before having the RV winterized. If I go during the coldest months I haul water in jugs & make sure I catch it in dish pans to toss out, I have to have a pan of water to wash my hands all the time & Brita water to make coffee. Got a routine that works for me.

At the end of WWII my parents bought a house on the edge of town, was an old farm house but came with lots of land that they had platted to sell off when ever they wanted. No other house in sight but also no electricity, natural gas, water or sewer. I loved how Dad came up with our own "power plant" & even put a motor on the well pump until each facility was brought in. Guess that is one part of what I enjoy about camping, the need to create a comfy nest in the middle of woods. They stayed in that house as long as they lived and watched the rest of the world grow up around them. I love how all I need do when I want power is push a button to start the generator (if I don't have a place to plug into power). Not everyone wants my life but I'm having a great time & thank God for the chance to du whatever I'm able. Maybe the trees will be showing their colors this trip. I love when it's cold so the cats & I curl up on the bed until time to get up & attem. When we get home I will appreciate the conveniences, never know when will be the last trip but I will have memories.

Hey, you snuck in, Gloria... agree with you on everything, we as so alike! I never tried all the differnt foods my mother came up with, either, terrible eater. When Cas died I stopped the paper (can read the obits online when I think about it), dropped cable TV & all those talk shows. My theory is if they were half as smart as they think they are, they wouldn't be working for a living, right? Politicians are not my cup of tea, even the best of them get greedy once in office. I know using plastic bags is bad but can't get into the habit of carrying the totes, I rarely just get what I go for. We lived without them before, right?

Wishing all a great day, enjoy as if there is no tomorrow.  Smile at strangers, surprising how catching a smile is.  Shirley

Cloudy this morning with the promise of storms this afternoon.  We need the rain but could do without the high winds.  But, it will be what it will be.

I liked your post, too, donklan.  I can relate to all of it.

Thinking about you, Jane, and your second calls to see the doctors.  I know it worries you. I also know that you don't want to tell the kids but they need to know what is going on with you.  I feel that sharing your worries makes them less of a burden to carry.

Goodness, Amy, threatening to turn that bull into a steer would make even the most cantankerous animal behave.   ;D

Breakfast is calling.  Nice bowl of warm oatmeal with banana and walnuts on top.    :P

See you all later.

SHIRLEY and PHYLLIS, you read between the lines.  I am a bit nervous about all the upcoming dr. visits.  But as of our long ride together today, Cathy pretty much knows what's going on and she won't waste much time leaving the rest of the kids in the dark.

My grandson's very close girlfriend ran in the recent Chicago Marathon and made one of her best times ever.  She qualified for the Boston Marathon in 2021 and they are delighted!  That's what she wanted to do and she did it!  I said before, this gal is a keeper!

AMY, that's a very cute picture of a West Highland White Terrier.  Mine are Scottish Terriers....longer ears and shorter legs and chubbier bodies.  But for about 14 years I had a White Westie "Niece".  My sister owned Sorcha who was a constant guest in our house.  We cousin-sat whenever they went somewhere they couldn't take her  and when we visited, my girls were always welcome there.  The picture brought back lots of memories!

Now I have to make a quick trip to town and then back for a nap before tonight's dr. visit.  I hope you all have a great rest of the day!

We've had our walk down to the river, those fish do enjoy the bread. Soon they will find deeper water for winter but will be back on warm days.

Tree alert! Finally the trees have popped out with crimson, gold & orange today! Such a surprise, I did not think they could change from brown to such vivid colors in ONE day. Silly me, driving down the streets smiling at the trees and people in the cars in the lanes next to me.

Not at all happy with my leg still not okay. At least I am not having to lift it with my hands to put on sox... or climb into bed, but aches constantly above & below the knee. Don't know if better to exercise or keep off it, but exercise did not help today. Since it has been locked up for a week I'm afraid to NOT exercise. I do steps the hard way but can walk without dragging & off stepping (if you know what I mean). I'd call the Dr but know it would mean seeing someone else (you know, the old "not my department" story)....

I'm planning to go to MO for the cousin reunion so really don't have time to spare. Must load that RV & even when going for only a couple nights, takes a lot to make it comfy. To me it's worth the effort to stay in the RV instead of having to check into a motel. I really don't like sleeping in hotels or motels 'cause I know they don't change anything but sheets & linens & the carpet, blankets & spreads plus the TV remotes are full of "germs". Costs way more for gas & maintenance on that RV than the best of motels, but "I'm worth it".... :2funny:

Only a little color left in the sky, 7:00 pm. Gets dark early & think about time to change clocks?  Isn't that soon?  Be back later, Tom & Callie forgot they ate already & sitting here looking like I am neglecting them. Tiger stayed down at the river so not sure what she is up to, not their normal routine.

A very good early morning.

I woke up and decided just to get up.  It seems when I go back to bed, I feel so groggy when I wake up again.  So, here I am.

I did read a few messages back and I am sorry to read about some of the problems you all are having.

Jane, I sure will have you in my thoughts and only wish you the best outcome with all your doctor appointments.  I can relate to what you are going through.

And, Shirley, I am sorry that you are still having trouble with your leg.  You should really have it looked at before you take that trip you mentioned.

Lloyd, like someone else told you, maybe it is time for you to start downsizing. That is something we all eventually have to do.

I also loved the beautiful message that Donklan put on here. I have saved it and will see if our activity director will post it on our bulletin board. It is so meaningful and everyone that lives in our place can relate to it.  I also have sent it to several friends, who I know will relate to it, also.  Thank you for sharing those beautiful thoughts.

Gloria, I am one who experiences the "white coat syndrome" sometimes.  I am usually nervous when I have to go to the doctors.

My DIL is  at the airport right now getting ready to fly to Arizona for about 2 weeks. This was one of her retirement gifts to go visit some friends that she hasn't seen for a long time. She was so excited to be going.  She said the temperature yesterday was close to 90º. She loves the hot weather.  But, she was worried that my son, (her husband) would not take as good of care of the cats as she does.  They are her "babies" and get special treatment. I told her she worries too much,  He will be fine with them.

As Shirley mentioned, it will soon be time to turn the clocks back. Nov. 3 is the date this year. I sure am not looking forward to it getting dark at 5 p.m. Makes for such a long evening.  But, after Dec.21,  the days do start getting longer.  You can tell I am not a big fan of winter.  I am already starting to think of spring.

I hope that all the friends will have a good day.  Especially you all that are not feeling up to par.  My thoughts will be with you.

Joy

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're expecting a whole week of temps in the high 50s to low 60s.  I can live with that!

We're all here in my office waiting for the boinger and breakfast and the start of another busy day.  I have to work a 10 but I have to gt an early start because the dr ordered a home blood pressure monitor for me and I have to pick it up on my way to work.  I have to monitor my blood pressure twice a day for two eeks and then they will decide what must be done.

My trip to the chiropractor was successful yesterday.  My daughter, Cathy drove me and after my session we stopped for lunch on the way home.  She told me the way that she has a bunch of vacation days that she has to take before her year is up or she loses them.  This was one of them.  It's a beautiful drive up there and he trees were in color....lots of red and yellow.  It would have been prettier if it hadn't been raining but it was nice.  Then she came back to take me to the local dr because it was pretty dark when we went and darker yet when we came home.  I was ready for bed last night.

JOY, so nice to see you and what a nice gift your DIL got for her retirement!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Not sure what today will bring other than washing floors and taking Kyle out for his coffee. I need to finish off a quilt  but know it won't be done for a while.

Joy ,great to see you this morning and what a wonderful retirement gift to get.

Jane, have a great day at work. I love long drives on country roads any time of the year.

Lloyd, please take care.Remember your health is more important.

Since I slept in I had better get a move on .

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone. Will have to make this fast. Of all days to wake late I have a CNA coming at 9:30 and for me that is to early. It is then or none.

JANE  hope the news was not bad yesterday.

SHIRLEY  get to an orthopedic doctor for that leg. Better to miss the reunion than be crippled the rest of your life.

It is 55° and raining, will be an all day rain according to the weather guesser. Oh well at least i do not have to go anywhere.

Have a good day.

A good Wednesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND!

We are starting to settle in after our return from our lovely time in SoCal🥰  I have a big ol pot of pinto beans cooking on the stove and boy oh boy does it smell good!  It is getting very dreary out and rain and then snow is fastly approaching😩😢

JANE, I am saddened to read about your health issue and I do hope you have answers soon as to what you might be facing. Hugs and prayers for you.  I AM SURE GLAD we have these lights on a timer now as I do not like to trip over things when it is dark and I come in and I felt guilty if I did not get in to turn them off!  We have our kitchen light on a motion activated light now, and it sure is working out well for us here.  Maybe I can talk Bob into putting one of those in there so it will come on automatically when needed?

SHIRLEY, I hope that leg settles down and will not keep you from going on your trip.  I had quite a bit of trouble getting around and sure is making me sad that I can not do more than I can.  Normally when I am at sea level I feel better and have less over all pain, but that was not the case this time😢😩 At times Bob had to help me lift my leg into the car as it hurt so badly. In addition I have a bad flare up of "Arthur" in my hands and it continues to be very painful and extremely annoying 🤬🤬. Enough pi**ing and moaning from me😤😡

LLOYD, I am happy to hear your downsizing of farm work is coming to an end but I am so sad that the legal battle continues!

AMY, seems things are going along well with you, Kyle and the doggies🥰

JOY, I hope the DIL has a wonderful time in AZ and that the kitties will survive😻😻

GLORIA, we both slept in late yesterday morning after our early morning arrival at home, nearly 2 AM, and it messed me up for the rest of the day.  I felt so sluggish.  I hope your CNA is back to your regular lady now!

I hope you all are having a good day......now I am off to go cry in my bowl of beans😤😘

Jenny

Jenn, I had you a long message & #2 son showed up at the door & I didn't post & forgot to save, so will cut this short. I do think the best way around the situation is just don't send the gift to be given him by someone else. Instead, when ever you visit just take your own birthday cupcakes & have your own party with him on whatever day it is (birthday plus ??days??. He will remember you as the most fun Grammy because he has you & GrandBob all to himself and that's a lot better for a little boy than a whole crowd of party comers. I didn't have to share much since my grandkids other gr-parents were dead or far away. One great grandmother lives far away but flies back for the 2 greats we share, so I make an appearance to visit with her & leave shortly so she can get her time in. She has flown back for each of their birthdays (oldest is 6 now). My gr-daughter & her husband invite their many friends & all of their children so very crowded & noisy. My advice is make it a party when ever YOU & GrandBob show up and that's what Jonah will remember.

We have grown so large & spread out that this year, Thanksgiving & Christmas is "come if you can, but......"  We know some are going different places & we will have a Thanksgiving dinner at the oldest grandson & wife's house & Christmas at the new house gr-daughter (& husband) just moved in to, for any & all that can make it. Already know it won't be a group photo opt, not sure when we will see them all together at the same time, hopefully not for a funeral. I think our Christmas is between holidays, daughter & her husband are going to have Christmas Eve & Day at home with their 2 unmarried kids. They did this last year.... both kids live on their own but spend Christmas Eve "at home".  I think it's sweet. Santa is especially good to them, too. ;)

I called the doctor's office today, left a message to have his special nurse call me tomorrow "for advice". Told the receptionist that I was going out of town no matter what..........so we'll see if she calls tomorrow. She talks things over with the doctor and gives it to me straight... I don't want to think blood clot since I don't know how long they would hurt. Think it must be pinched nerves & so much going on have not found time to stretch out & do a good soak. Wish I knew of a really good chiropractor, but I don't. I sure didn't get as much accomplished today as I hoped, have bad weather moving in tomorrow.

Wishing all sweet dreams & a happy tomorrow. God Bless!  Shirley

I'm in a really snitty mood so this is going to be short.

JENNY, the advice that Shirley gave you about making it Christmas/Birthday whenever you go is really good.  As she said, Jonah will remember the "special" times more than the crowds.

SHIRLEY, get on line and look for an APPLIED KINESIOLOGIST.  They're not bone crackers but they sure do make you fell better.  And I bet you'd like what you get from one of them.  That's what mine is and I'd never have known about her if my daughter hadn't worked for her

Now I'm going to bed.  I wish you a peaceful night and a good tomorrow!

Lloyd, I don't know the gist of your legal problems about your "home", but does your state not have a Homestead Act, that would prevent someone from taking it from you? Did this person file a legal Lien against the property for some reason? A Mechanic's Lien or something?  Your state has got to do better for you, and so should the shyster lawyer.  This really makes me mad.  I know I don't post here very often, but I follow every day, and not nothing the onset of this problem, I still am at a boiling point.  You have enough worries without something like this. Take care of yourself, Lloyd.  God Bless.

Light rain this morning, could be an all day one according to the weather man.

Work around home today after taking Kyle to pick up some pine from the store. Still working on that quilt so after putting a pot of bean and ham soup on may get back at it.

Jenny, I also agree with Shirley, make your own special memories with Jonah.

Shirley, happy to read you are dealing with that leg. I hope also that it is a pinched nerve.

Gloria, hope you don't have to rush around today..

Jane, I just can't imagine you in a "snitty" mood. Hope everything it alright.

Better get a move on.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Good morning everyone, down into the mid 30's but sun is shining so should warm up.

JENNY  so sorry that your DIL prefers her parents visit than you and Bob. Selfish? My family would always just drop in when they decided to visit. Never made a certain date or time and I remember as a child waking in the morning and seeing a house full of family who showed up during the night. In those days the doors were never locked.

SHIRLEY  I think an orthopedic doctor would know what to look for with your knee. I know that is what my CNA had to do.

JANE  hope you wake in a better frame of mind today.

LLOYD  take care of yourself.

AMY  no rain here and I am glad for that. Hope you can get back to your sewing.

Looks like no one else is around so I will wish all to
Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I did manage to shed the "snitty mood" last night.  I did my favorite thing for calming down....I went in the kitchen and cooked something.  It always seems to calm me down.  And I've been checking my blood pressure and it's waaaaay down this morning so maybe I'll cook something before I go to the office on Tuesday to have it checked.

Today I have an appointment to have the tissue taken from inside my jaw and that hasn't even seemed to effect the blood pressure.

I'm going to have to get busy around here.  Need to straighten up and get a shower and get ready to take a drive.  I've invited company from heaven to ride with me so maybe I won't get stressed out by the drive.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Jane,  I sure will keep you in my thoughts today.

So far, it has been a very lazy day.  I had sat in my recliner to read for a while and the fire alarm went off.  It scared me to death, as it is a really loud, shrill noise.  I then remembered I had seen a notice that they were going to be testing the system today.  I just go in the  bedroom and shut the door and it isn't too bad. Lasted about 15 min.

All is well now, and I see it is lunch time.

Wishing everyone a pleasant afternoon.

Joy

Good morning!

Thinking about you, JANE, and hoping all has gone well.  I felt good knowing your heavenly person was with you on the drive to and from and while you were getting the procedure done.  Hugs to you. I am going to go look up a APPLIED KINESIOLOGIST when I finish here.

SHIRLEY, I do hope you heard from your doctors office and there is a plan for you.  I sure hate you are having so much pain with that leg!

I am feeling so much better today and as always I wish to thank those of you that shared your thoughts or experiences with me regarding my issue yesterday.  I sometimes wish I did not share so much with you all because it is personal and I post others issues, which is not my place and could come back to haunt me🤪, but you are ALWAYS there for me and I trust YOUR opinions better than almost anyone's, so I share and you come through and make me feel oh so much better, and I thank you so much.  The issue has been settled and we are going to see our boy on OUR SCHEDULE!

JOY, I can well believe the alarm going off scared you good even though you KNEW it was going to.  I hope they got it all tested and  done until the next time!

GLORIA, back in the day that is just how families were.....we ALL just got together....now days everything has to be planned out and for the most part the younger generation does not feel the obligation to even participate.  Our traditions will not go on.... those days have passed.  Bless it be the families that are keeping them going😢

I know it would probably be in our best interest to get more involved with friends and not be so tied into the family, but for me that would be nearly impossible😩😢😤🤣

AMY, I see you had a pot of beans and ham to eat yesterday as well!  I hope you enjoyed yours as much as we did!  They really hit the spot!

Washer and dryer are in need of me, so off I go to get another load going!

Have a great day, EVERYFRIEND!

Jenny

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Someone can always come up with a solution that makes us feel better in any situation!  This time, DR SHIRLEY played Family Therapist and JENNY liked her advice.  Way to go!

I've had the stuff taken out of my jaw and now it gets sent away.  I hadn't even got home and they had me set up with an appointment for the results of the testing.  I really like this Dr.  She's spcial!

I'm waiting for my daughter and granddaughter to come back to pick up Frankie's dog.  I think we're going to have company regularly until he gets used to living in a new place and having his "mommy" go off to work.  He's a good buy though and no trouble.  The only thing wrong is he doesn't like our goodies.

They should be getting back soon because my daughter has a 2 1/2 hour drive home and she has to work tomorrow.  I expect they might be having some supper together before they part company.

And speaking of supper, Annie is beginning to raise her voice in request for something to fill her tummy.  I told her it's not time yet but she doesn't give up.

Gotta go!

Finally stopping for the day. My doctor said he wanted to see my leg so I found the baggiest summer pants to put on so I could pull UP and not DOWN... really looked awful and put on some UGGS to come up to the pant legs because it was too cold to go with bare legs & didn't want knee sox & tennis shoes, bad enough as it was. Bottom line is he was pretty sure not a blood clot but only way to be sure was "doppler" & would have to do that tomorrow. That would mean I'd miss my reunion & I have a feeling this will be the last of them for MY generation. He said if it isn't better next week we'd do the testing if that's what I wanted, he knows I didn't go in for pain pills.

Jane, I looked up your APPLIED KINESIOLOGIST and only ones are on the other side of town so will call one if the leg isn't better next week. I do thank you for the idea, have been to chiropractors ever since a teenager, mostly good experiences, but never an applied kinestiologist. Do hope no problems with your test results...but kind of holding one's breath until you hear, right?

Jenny, me too, spilling my guts... :uglystupid2:  ... but we are what we are & I know I do wear my feelings on my sleeve. I am the same with family ties... if not for my kids & grands I wouldn't have much of a life! Got fur babies, by the way, did I tell you that Tom threw up before I even turned the ignition on last trip?  I knew it was all in his head, but that took the cake!

I need to get to bed, been working in the RV & cleaning stuff out... got hot last week so had summer stuff out & think it may be really winter now. Think I'm about to wind up all the roof repairs, talked to the insurance lady & she was questioning the number of down spouts... told her that "I had no clue why there was more put on than originally estimated but maybe they just had to match. The man that owned the gutter business was in a serious wreck & his crew showed up early one Sat morning, I answered the door & said I'd put on clothes & unlock the gates fast! I was available when ever they had time, they didn't mention their boss was in a wreck/hospital, the roofer inspected & explained what happened when he brought the bill by." Told the insurance lady that I wrote him a check, paid in full, trusted he was an honest, hard working man and that I offered to paint a portrait of one of his special sheep he raises if he'd bring me a photo, as a thank you for all the extra work he did. She acted like no big deal that he had to take a shingle off to be analyzed so I bit my tongue to keep the anger out & explained that he had to bring a ladder, slip a shingle out & he put one that fairly matched so it wouldn't look so bad (in back)... and then had to take it to the mail room to be boxed & shipped & then brought the receipt for me to scan & send her a copy. His office is in another town I think about 30 miles away. He didn't even add that expense to his bill & I think he should have since we both furnished her with proof of what was put on this roof in 2006, & it cost him at least half a day's work to do that. I still have the 3 e-mails from the company wanting to "know how we did"... so it ain't over till this fat lady sings!  >:(  :D

I think I stopped by earlier to say good night... but sweet dreams again, and God Bless.  Shirley  Roll Call in the morning!

Good morning everyone, feels like I woke in the middle of the night, so dark.

JANE  hope every thing is getting better for you. If you are anything like me you worry about things you cannot change.

JOY  they do that here with the fire alarm, to. I usually go outside when they do it and can hear the noise outside. They post it in the lobby but those who never go out do not know.

JENNY  I never know when my oldest son will pop in. I love it when he does and my younger son comes almost every Saturday. He calls and asks if I need anything and he will stop and get it for me. Most times I do not need anything.

LLOYD  the last 2 days have been perfect warm autumn days. Spent most of them outside.

SHIRLEY  at least it isn't a blood clot. You health is more important than the reunion.

Hello to the rest of you who will be here later.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

We are off to the city for an appointment for Kyle this morning. I don't care to go in the city on a Fri but it is what it is. Will pick up a few things for us and the neighbours and head home.

Rex has had a set back, his owner was trying to shoo a fox away and Rex jumped up to see making his leg worse:( Now he is on pills for the rest of his life and no jumping running all the fun things a dog loves to do.

Shirley, thank you, I was so worried about it being a clot. That is what happened to a neighbour and she lost her foot over it. Happy to read your Dr is making sure with the "doppler"

Jot an alarm going off always starts me and makes both dogs jump to their feet.

Jane, praying for good news on your tests. What did June say? Let God worry about it as he will be up all night anyway?

Lloyd, hope all is well with you and Nancy..

Gloria, good morning and yes it is dark!! We turn the clocks back Nov 3  so up in the dark and go to bed in the dark.  I do with they would leave it alone.

Better get a move on.

Enjoy your day everyone.

It is cloudy and 42º today calling for sunny and 54º this afternoon. Hope you all have a great day today and even a better tomorrow.

Having a nice roll call this morning!  I've had breakfast & so have all 3 cats... and it is still dark!  Thank you all for the concern about my leg. Hope I'm not just being ME (stubborn, pig-headed, etc).... You'd think by this age we would have seen it all but when asked for a pain measure yesterday, I explained, "I've had 3 babies & open heart surgery...this ranks right up there". Only problem, this is lasting longer than any of those other pains & I am not a good patient!

Not sure we got anything but mist overnight, must be cold because the furnace has been running overtime. Tom is teasing Tiger & she growls so I will fuss at him. She knows what she is doing, typical brother & sister.

Son, Andy, is going camping with the Boy Scouts this week end. He keeps his certification updated to teach for the CPR badge, he loves working with kids. Makes me sad he never got to be a scout because the mother/leader didn't want him in the pack.... said "it counted against their pack if the fathers didn't attend meetings". I just commented that, "those were the boys that needed scouting the most"... and let it go. That was the time when his father was out of town from Monday to Friday for most of the year & thought it pretty stinky to move their meetings to the basement so Andy couldn't get up & down the steps with the braces on his legs. Funny how memories come back and can still make you feel bad, especially when it hurt one of your kids.

Wishing all a great week end, I'm excited about the cooler weather but will admit the cold sure is colder than other years! I dug out my "lady's long johns"... nylon so stops the wind & keeps the legs/knees much warmer. Careful what you pray for, Gloria... can come back to bite you!

Busy week end & early part of next week. Cardio appointment on Monday & got to get the RV winterized by Tuesday since a freeze that night. Do not want water lines to break. I am anxious to find time to have that young couple come help me get caught up with yard & house work. The tall grass (Pampas, tall striped from my mother & cane) needs to be cut down, bundled for trash, that is a big job for one. I used to help Cas but have done it myself since. Have a tree that needs branches trimmed that are growing near power lines... have a long pole clipper that reaches but don't think I'm strong enough & don't want the pole to topple onto the power lines. Anyway, have plenty of work that needs to be done. Life does go on, right?

Amy, that quote of June's has always been a favorite of mine, don't have it on this computer but will get the exact words later. You remember better than I do. Sorry Rex hurt his leg again.  :'(

Lloyd, hope all works out, sounds like you are more at peace with this. Hugs to you & Nancy.

Good morning!  The sun is up and it looks like a nice day even if "they" are telling us it is supposed to be cloudy and rain coming on the weekend.

I made it to and from the grocery store yesterday.  I knew I was getting low on supplies but didn't realize how low until the cashier told me the bill.  Whew!  Well, the fridge, the freezer, and larder are full again so I guess we won't starve....at least for awhile.  One of the things I bought were some nice looking apples (on sale) so I'll be making applesauce today.  We eat a lot of applesauce, when it is available, so I try to keep some in the fridge all the time but, we haven't had any for several days so I must get busy.

I'm glad to read that life is looking a little brighter for some of you now and hope it continues that way.

I love that saying from June, too.  Thanks for reminding me of it, Shirley.  I still miss June and her wonderful wisdom about life.

Take care, All.

Good Morning Afternoon Everyfriend!  It's been a short day for me and it's getting shorter.  I seem to move slower and slower.  I'm really glad this work day is over.

I want to thank everyfriend for the prayers and thoughts you've been sending my way.  The time waiting for the test results is a hard time but I try not to think about it.  I decided yesterday that I'm not going to worry about anything that I can't do anything about and as soon as that thought went through my mind I felt better.

SHIRLEY, I'm glad you let the dr. in on your leg problem.  I hope you find it possible to do the test before it turns to something worse

LLOYD, good for you, leaving it in God's hands!

I'm craving a snooze now so I think I'll see if there are any zzzzzzs left on the sofa.  My eyelids feel so heavy, I'm finding it hard to keep them open.  The doggies have had a walk and a little snack so they should be good for a while.  Wish me luck!

Well, I left a long whining message & see it didn't stick! Got up at 4:00 am & did everything to get on the road to MO... but cats were hiding as soon as they had their breakfast so took a shower & washed my hair before daylight. Naturally the cats saw the cage in the entry hall & disappeared. I looked everywhere, even with my sore leg. Finally Tom came out & I put him in the cage & carried him to the RV, by the time I got him from my front door to the RV door he had already thrown up on the clean bed in the cage. I cleaned up the cage & brought it back in to take Tiger out. She was still hiding so decided I'd leave them both here in the house. Brought Tom back so they could stay inside with plenty dry food & water. Got the power unplugged from the garage & put up the jacks... tires felt funny so I stopped right around the corner to have a look. Stepped out the side door, all looked okay so went to climb back in & put too much pressure on that bad leg & it crumbled, snap'pop & lucky I was holding onto the door with one hand & rail inside with the other. I pulled myself inside & crawled to the driver's seat & got me right back home. Thought I'd never get in the garage but managed to sit on the wood floor by the steps from the garage & scooted myself through to the carpeted hall to the bedrooms. Changed from my jeans to the loose pants I wore to the Dr yesterday, to be prepared to have another trip for xray this time. Dr's nurse said he was waiting to deliver a baby so I needed to get to the ER & he would have my papers ready. Andy had planned to leave for the Boy Scout camp, he keeps his CPR certificate up to date so the boys can get badges for his training, they count on him. I insisted he get on the road, couple hundred miles to the scout campground as soon as he brought me home. Anyway, spent the day getting a doppler & XRay, no blood clots & NO broken bones.... some fluid on the knee & will have to have MRI next week. Dr called after I got home & said to ice it & rest.. have a brace on it & ace bandage. Both off because I'm going to bed. I really have had better days!  :o  ::)

SHIRLEY, I am so sad to read your post about how your day progressed.  I feel so bad as I know you wanted to go to MO family reunion n the worse way and you did everything you could to try to make it happen😩😤 Happy to read that the leg problem is not a blood clot, but clearly there is something causing the pain.  Seems the kitties did their best to try to not get you to go 🙀🙀.  Happy Andy was able to help you but then was able to get on his way to the Boy Scout Camp.  I hope you can take it easy and I a: so glad there were no broken bones involved.  HUGS to you my dear friend🙏🙏

AMY, good to read that Kyle got his super flu shot, but what about YOU?

LLOYD, I hope and pray you can get your home legally back!

PHYLLIS, glad you were able to get the grocery shopping done, as it appears you were getting pretty low on staples around your home.  I let things get down around here too before we left for our California trip, so now I need to do so shopping for sure tomorrow as we have a big ol storm heading our way that may last three days and then continue to be quite cold.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've made some major decisions over the past few days and I feel much better.  My blood pressure also seems to be coming down so I guess it was the right thing to do.  I go for a monitor at the dr.s office on Tuesday and that will check her readings against the ones on the monitor that I bought this week.  And I've decided that "what will be will be" when it comes to the tissue test in my jaw.  And the most important, I think I won't wait for the first of the year to retire.  I think I'll do it right after Thanksgiving....maybe even before.  And I think that decision had the best effect on my BP.

And now, I'm not even going to think about that any more.  I've going to think about how to pinch pennies and I've always been pretty good at that.

JENNY, Winter is on the way here, too.  I hear geese passing over every day and today, they are very noisy over on the pond.  When that happens, the cold weather is not far away.  And unlike some of the folks in here, I don't crave the cold.  I love Spring and Frll the best.  My kids told me that if I wan Spring and Farll year round, I have to move to Hawaii.  I think I'll just continue accepting things as they are!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone, a cloudy dark gloomy one here. Might as well keep the shades down and the lights on.

AMY  blood clots in the leg can move. A niece about 40 years ago was in the hospital because of one and it moved to her heart and she died leaving 5 young children and husband. He did a great job raising them on his own. Sorry about Rex. Hard to keep a dog from jumping and running. Every year they talk about not changing the time but nothing comes of it. Arizona keeps the same time all year.

LLOYD  I think we are all praying that things work out good for you.

SHIRLEY  I have my long johns ready and waiting for the cold days when I go outside. That and my sweat pants. Warmer than jeans when the wind blows and makes it colder. Been so nice lately I have been walking around the parking lot and that feels great.

PHYLLIS  I made some applesauce yesterday. I love it on a slice of toast or in my oatmeal. I loved the way June could express herself, always the right words. I know last week when my son asked if I wanted to go to the market I said a big YES and spent more than $200.-

JANE  I learned years ago it does no good to worry about things we cannot change. It only makes us worry more.

SHIRLEY OUCH  I know how it feels to put your weight on a hurting leg. I have done that, too. I have learned to put my weight on my right leg and when I get into a car or go up a few stairs it is one step at a time.

JENNY  no mention of snow here yet. The longer it holds off the less I worry about family driving in it.

AMY  when I was still working I never got the flu shot but now I do every year.

JANE  I think making the decision to retire is a good one. I know you will miss the paycheck but you health is worth more than money.

Have a good day.

Good morning,

I am not fully awake, but just wanted to comment on Shirley's message. I am so sorry that your plans came to an abrupt halt, but glad that you didn't break anything and no blood clot.  I know you must be so disappointed, but just be glad that you weren't on the road when you fell.  Could have been a whole different story.  Glad that your son was able to help you and then get on with his plans.  You really need to slow down a little bit.  And, I know how hard that is going to be for you.  I sure will be thinking of you.

And, Jane, it sounds like you have made some very important decisions and I know you will accept things as they come.  I am keeping you in my thoughts that all your tests will come out great. Only you know how you feel, and your decisions will be what you want to do.  You will be missed by all your special customers, but you know best what you need to do.  I just wish you nothing but lots of good luck and happy and restful days ahead. Like most people I know who have retired, you will wonder how you found time to work. LOL  You will have lots of time to make lots of goodies !!! Keeping you in my thoughts. \

It still is too early for anything interesting to happen, I need to start the dishwasher and read for a little while, before I get on with my day.

Have a wonderful day.

Joy

Jane, when I came home after my retirement party, I wondered if I had done the right thing.  I think I wondered about 10 minutes, then decided I had done the right thing.  I've been retired 33 years now and don't regret a minute of it.  Norm used to say I was the happiest retiree he knew of.  As Joy said, you'll wonder how you ever had time to work.

I think the cold water part of my bathtub is on the fritz because I had the hottest shower I've ever had and I could not get the temperature to cool off.  My showers are always short, but this was shorter.

If we're lucky, Tom is going to take me on a color tour in the area today.  We hope to visit a friend in Sheridan MI.

Mary Ann, your hot shower reminds me of the week one bathroom had HOT and other bathroom had COLD working shower faucets. Not a good way to shower & wash hair! Hope you get it fixed fast, either extreme almost stops the heart, doesn't it?

My DIL brought over the walker her mother used, basic walker since she had Alzheimer's & couldn't understand how to operate anything, phones, TV remote, etc. I know I will need one with the seat & brakes... might know, I will need brakes always being in a rush. ::)   So I'd really appreciate all advice since me & Amazon will get together after while. I remember someone mentioning bigger wheels, I know I want one with a seat & means to haul a cup of coffee without spilling. My floors are solid oak/wide plank, black slate entry hall (travel between bedroom wing & kitchen/family/dining rooms & garage) & white carpet in bedrooms, bathrooms & hall. I couldn't find any with rubber wheels (does it make a difference?). I am 5'1"... short legs for sure. Left leg doesn't bend at all right now so kind of slide it along on hardwood. I have a medium tall bar stool that I am using this morning... I lift & move it along but have a place to sit when I stop, I poured that cup of coffee in the travel thermos with lid). If any of you have an opinion (like or dislike) and a link to what you would like (from Amazon...I have 2 day free shipping with Prime).... I find it totally confusing with all that's offered. One that looked like a good choice I read reviews & scared me... seems it was ideal for TALL men & I'm concerned if it will close enough to fit my short legs. How do you measure yourself for size for seating or standing?  Until the MRI, guess we won't know if the tendons, whatever all those muscles that hold the knee joint together are called... are pulled, damaged or torn apart. My son-in-law had the same issue last week & immediately went to the sports orthopedic that put him on pain meds & exercises... problem with that is he exercised & threw his back out so in more trouble because he didn't have the pain to warn him he was over doing. Sure is a learning & lesson for me. With all the horses I've been bucked off & falls & dumb things in my almost 85 years, I've never "blown a knee" before. I have a scar on the knee cap that the cut went to the bone, could see the white bone... and did not even go to the doctor, not sure if 10-15 years old & never told my parents. I have been a terrible tomboy & still am, but letting pain rule this week! Biggest pity-party in history going on right now! Appreciate advice & opinions! Shirley

Shirley, I know of the abuse of ones body when young and not so young as I was the same. We would do things that if our parents knew we wouldn't be able to sit for a week!! Sneak in to ride horses and get peppered with rock salt, climb trees that kissed the clouds, you know all those fun things. :) Do what the Dr said, stay off it and put ice packs on it. I know NOT a fun thing to do but if you do it healing may be quicker.....and you do want it now!

Laundry is blowing on the line and I did go and see Rex...dear me he is not only back to square one but beyond and I sure hope the meds work for this boy.

Hear the laundry calling...

SHIRLEY, I just sent you email with info about my cart.  I am very happy with mine and feel it would do well for you also.  I think Sandy ended up getting this one as well when she did all of her research.  You can get it in two days with Amazon Prime.

JANE, you have been doing some real soul searching and I hope it is indeed giving you a bit of comfort that you have pretty much made the decision to retire.  I know this can not be an easy choice, but it probably is a good choice.  I am holding you in my thoughts and prayers as you ease through the final decision.  I have to admit that I would like to live in a "perfect" weather world, what ever that might be, but I do not think I would move to Hawaii even if I could afford to!  I do have to say though that Southern California weather is about as perfect to me as you can get.....but then you have wild fires and earthquakes to worry about.....so sitting tight and just dealing with what ever comes might still be the best choice🦋🦋

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 💐LLOYD and NANCY💐

MARY ANN, I have heard when a water heater gets extremely hot that it might be going out on you.....I sure hope that is not the case for you!  I think Shirleys story takes the cake....one shower with hot water and the other with cold!  I would pass on both💥💥

AMY, I can appreciate your choice not to take the flu shot and it seems it is working out well for you.  I am glad you chose to get the shingle one though.....shingles are awful😩. I forgot to mention poor Rex.....poor doggie.  Sometimes I just feel like stopping all of my RX and supplements as I am not sure they work anyway🤬.

We are to get to 70* today, but then the temps will plummet!  We hope to get out and batten down the hatches as prepare for winter.....😤😤😤.

Have a super good Saturday EVERYFRIEND🦋

Jenny

Shirley ....

I bought this Drive Rolltor Walker a
few months ago.    I hightly recommend it.  Everytime I go out people stop me and tell me how much they love my walker.

This is the regular size one.  I bought the "tall" one as I like to stand up
straight when I use it.  I am 5 feet 5 inches now.. and the tall one is perfect for me.

It is very well made and will last me a long long time...
Best wishes and I think that this would be a good investment in your future walk
abouts..

Sandy

Thank you Sandy & Jenny... I couldn't find any place to choose size so hope I ordered the right one!!! Says it will be here Monday so daughter will be around to help put together if needed I will check to see in my confirmation e-mail if anything about regular or tall... I sure ain't tall. I also ordered a 5" seat riser for the commode... y'all find that a problem getting up & down? My 3 bathrooms all have "designer" commodes & are shorter than normal (original owners installed)... so really difficult when one leg does not bend at all.  :-\   Thank you for the links & hope I got the right one. Shirley, do you have grab bars by the commode? When Kyle had difficulty with his knees a high rise commode was put in plus grab rails. You may want to look into them.

Amy, I really wanted the grab bars but afraid they would not fit these darn "designer" commodes. The ones that had the best ratings locked on & I know nothing about these are "standard".  Hope I didn't make a mistake. You know the saying, "I don't know nuthing about nuthing".... that's what I am dealing with. I've been sitting here too long, had to add some gift cards to my Amazon account, good thing I keep plenty spares...and get all those gas points for the elephant.

Shirley, no room on a wall close to the commode that a grab rail could be attached?

I just had to add my little 2 cents worth to Shirley's story of getting a new commode.

My oldest son has a house that is totally not at all handicapped accessible.  Lots of levels with steps to each one.  I usually try to stay on one level when I am there.  Their main bathroom has a very low commode and I always used to have a terrible time getting up off of it. I would have to start laughing thinking what I must look like getting up.  So, a while ago, they made another bathroom taking a portion of one of their bigger bedrooms.  I was so excited when I saw they had put one on the newer higher commodes in it.  I had to laugh as I think it is pretty sad when you get so excited over a "Commode".  I asked my DIL if it was ok if I used that bathroom when I am there, as it is really a big help.  A little farther to walk to it, but well worth it.

People who do not have any problems getting around and doing "normal" things, just don't understand what a nice handicapped accessible "thing"  can mean.

The rollator walker that I have is a  "Nova" brand.  I love it.  It has a compartment under the seat and is a real pretty silvery-blue color. Easy to fold up and very comfortable to sit on.  I do not like the ones that has a basket or compartment that juts out in the front of the walker. It can get in the way at times.  And, if I think you have to remove it when you fold it up.   I will look and see if I can find one on Amazon.  I don't think it was as much as the one Sandy mentioned.

Will get back if I can find a link.

Joy

Here is a link I found for the one I have.  I don't know how high the seat is , as where I bought it, they fitted  the size to me.   Hope the link works.

That does look like a good one, Joy... but I've already ordered the one Jenny & Sandy have. I also laughed about being pleased to find a 5" "seat" that will help.  Doesn't take much to make us happy, huh?   :2funny:

Amy, the wall next to the commode is ceramic tile & has built in paper holder, but I can hold onto the wall edge with one hand & the tub with the other... hope I didn't make a mistake with my choice. The one that looked the sturdiest with grab rails said it "locked on" and I was afraid it wouldn't fit this odd ball. I really loved how low these are when we first bought the house, especially after visiting a couple state or national parks in the west that had very high commodes. My feet wouldn't touch the floor & ever since had complete sympathy for what we put all the little children through with feet dangling! I have done much better today than I was doing last night but anxious to find out how long it will take to get me mobile again. Steps are at every turn & I never thought about them before! The cats are terrified of the walker & run to stay out of my way.

Thank you all for the concern & tips.... one more test of aging, I guess!  Sweet dreams & God Bless.  Shirley

Good morning everyone. 46° now but will have only in the upper 50's with rain all day. Not a very nice weekend for those  who work all week.

LLOYD  nice that the calf will be raised with kids for a 4 H project. Good luck getting those 2 stubborn cows where you can get them.

JOY  it takes 2 cups of coffee before I am really awake, no matter what time I get up in the morning.

MARY ANN  I have been retired 23 years now and love it. No alarm clock set every night is the best part, dislike the sound of them.

SHIRLEY  if you can find a rollator with big wheels get it. Wish I had bigger wheels, hard pushing it over uneven grassy areas. But I did not know much about them when I got mine. I bought mine online and my son had to put it together, had it 8 or 9 years already. Sure helps me get around. I think Phyllis said she bought hers with bigger wheels, easier getting around in the yards. It should tell you how high they are and the arms can be adjusted for height. I am shorter than you, I am shrinking and under 5 feet now.

AMY  when the laundry call you did it say--we are dry so come fold us ad put us away and get the bed made up with fresh smelling sheets? Sorry about Rex.  I hate seeing an animal in pain.

JENNY  I remember when my daughter first moved to San Diego she wrote me she was getting tired of warm sunny days and would love some rain. I would miss the 4 seasons si will stay where I am. Now that I do not have to shovel or drive in snow I can really enjoy it. I love watch it coming down and every thing seems so quiet and beautiful. Of course I no longer go walking in it.

SANDY  that man in the add for that rollator was walking wrong with it. You should keep your elbows close to your body and walk straight up, not bent over. I have seen an add for one now where the handles are high and makes you walk upright and not bent over.

SHIRLEY  like you I bought a 5 inch riser when I lived at my last apartment at my son's house. Here we have what he calls the "big boy" and no problems. When I go to my sons or grandsons it is hard when I need to use the facilities, all so low.

AMY  I bought the side bars at my sons and brought them here with me, sure helps. There are grab bars all around the bathroom here but the ones near the commode are too high for me to reach. The bars I bought attach to the commode under the seat and so easy to grab onto.

SHIRLEY  good luck with your new rollator. I would be lost without mine. I have a pouch under the seat and I like that better than a basket. I carry a lot in there and no one can see what I have.

Have a good day.

Shirley, I also have ceramic tiles all around in the bathroom and my husband did install grab bars on them. There are special drill bits that make holes in those tiles to fit the screws. Nothing broke and no visible damage. I also had two bars installed on both sides of the tiled walls surrounding the bathtub[ color]

Good Morning everyone. well we bit the bullet a few years ago and installed Handy capped stools and grab bars by them. and tomorrow people are supposed to come and Install a lift for and bring a new electric scooter for me in the car. It can only be driven into the garage not in the house. but will make getting around much easier. Have a great day.

I have the Medline Drive Rollator in a purple color.  Gloria is right in that I bought the bigger wheels so that I can get around on grassy areas and they work just fine.  The handles are adjustable in height and I have mine set at the highest mark even though I am 5'1".  I found that when they were set lower I tended to hunch over them and I wanted to make myself stand as straight as possible.  Also, the storage bag is better directly under the seat so that it is out of the way when you sit down.  It folds easily and is fairly light weight but the back of my Escape is so high I cannot easily lift the Rollator up in to it so David has to do that for me.  I take it with me wherever I go and most of the time it is no problem keeping it close but some restaurants are small with close table seating and the rollator can be a problem with being in the way of passersby.

The physical therapist recommended that I get the higher attachment for the commode but I haven't done that yet.  I do have a grab bar right next to the commode that helps me get up.  My younger son installed all of the grab bars and he drilled through ceramic tile in the shower.  There is a special bit that will do that without damaging the tile.

All of the grab bars in the house, the stair railings on both sides of the stairs, and other modifications were made when David had his stroke several years ago but it has turned out that Tom used them most when he could not move or balance well with advancing Alzheimer's and now with my balance difficulty I use them constantly.  I am considering a stair lift but still want to do the exercise of going up and down the stairs so haven't installed the lift yet.

I'll just end this long post by saying that all of these aids have made life so much easier.  I just wasn't ready to sit down and wither away in one place.....yet!

Good Morning all you wonderful people!  You make me proud to call you "friends"!!  I came in earlier and I was so humbled to find that so many of you still do all you do and depend on balance aids to do it.  I never knew some of you were facing those challenges.  It makes my problems dim to next to nothing.  Keep on keeping on and keep on being my friends!

I'm probably in the middle when it comes to abilities and disabilities.  I don't have any aids for getting around, but I don't have occasion to get around much.  I can walk from my front door to the front of the garage where I can get into Tom's or Dot's cars and they are the only ones I ride with, not that someone else couldn't give me a ride, they just don't.  I like my commode which is regular height because of I had the higher one, I'd be dangling my feet (shorty, you know).  I have a grab bar at the wall side of my tub that I use constantly and a few years ago, nephew Terry installed a grab bar just outside the tub and I use that getting out of the tub and otherwise when I need to.  In the house/condo, which is small, I use furniture or walls if I need help.  At church or in restaurants, I have been able to get from Point A to Point B without help.  My walking is not good enough that I can walk far, but I am managing so far!  And there's no place to go - I do not go to the store because I no longer drive.

Post by: Shirley on October 27, 2019, 02:35:49 PM
I knew I'd find good advice & grins in here & do really appreciate all. I have discovered that everything you want is on the other side of the room or house. That your feet are cold but when you put warm sox or shoes on they are too hot. My arms are not as long as my leg that won't bend, so getting a shoe or sock on that foot is a struggle... but if you keep the good foot bare it can help pull that sock or shoe on the leg that won't bend. That it's smart to NOT keep drinking coffee because that bathroom is a torture chamber! The the phone rings when you are furthest from it & the cell is on charge. See...we can still learn as we grow older.  :crazy2:  :uglystupid2:  :buck2:  :idiot2:

The cats are terrified of the walker... but they are being so good I can't believe them. Poor Tiger couldn't stand not coming to cuddle in bed so showed up to check every angle to find one she could fit in. She likes to sleep with her back to me & her head on my right arm (when I sleep on my right side)... but I was on my back & nothing felt right so she stood there for a few seconds & was happy when I put my arm around her & let her lay where she was. Every time Tom hears me moving around he comes to check, looks around & goes back downstairs to hide out & sleep the day away. I put Callie's breakfast of salmon (bowl) on the top step going into the garage because she wouldn't get up & come in. I opened the garage door enough for her to come & go (after daylight), so she takes care of herself. Youngest son is to come over this morning to get the rest of the stuff out of the RV & put shade up & pull down the ones that come down. It will all get done but would rather be doing it myself! EDIT: He is here & RV emptied, he is now using the vac to clean cob webs off the brick by the front door & clean off the bits of grass that the mowers "blow" up on the porch when they clean off the sidewalk. They can't remember to to the blowing AWAY from the front door.  ;)

I am not taking this as gracefully as I should.... I do have a few faults, with patience & pig headed being a couple. It is truly nice to know I am not alone in this venture! Thanks for the encouragement. I'm still thinking about the grab bars & with the design of the bathroom I use (has all my stuff in)... think they would be more in the way than a help.

My husband grabbed a towel rack in the master bathroom & it broke so we put up brass ones. That bathroom is also ceramic tile all walls but shower is marble & double clam shell sink & vanity marble. I don't want to switch to use it, makes a nice guest room suite since original owner that we bought from, added a whole room onto the master bedroom that is filled with TV & Lazy boys & a roll top desk. The bedroom part has his tempur pedic & other pieces of furniture. His "man cave". I use his laptop on a computer table against the wall across from the foot end of the bed. Bought a TV for the corner so I can nap cross way on the bed & watch TV. Not a bad set up & it's there so may as well use it! I cover the beds with flannel sheets (no fuzzy on them) so cats can sleep where they want & I don't have to worry about bed spreads getting dirty.

Started this hours ago & time to check on son & see what I can do. I asked him if he'd mind picking up lunch, we have the usual fast food places near & I have gift cards for all. Talk later, one more thing I've learned is sitting at this computer makes the knee & back hurt if I sit too long.

Mary Ann, you really are an inspiration doing so well and nearly 10 years ahead of me. Same as my brother & he also is doing great (must have been a good year, you think?) Shirley

Good Afternoon,

Thought I posted this earlier but can't find it.  Please excuse if this is a repeat (edited).

I've been to church and OTL with The Church Ladies, as the little diner where we used to go called us.  Unfortunately, it is permanently closed – so we went to Arby's today.  Since it's close to Crest grocery, I went there afterwards even though I'd left my list at home.  Glory Be!  I got everything I'd written down – only forgot one thing I hadn't yet put on the list and it isn't that important.

I have a Lumex Rollator that's Hot Pink with a zebra-striped bag under the seat. (Figured if I had to have one - I'd "make a statement"  :) ") It also has brakes which I would highly recommend.
My doctor wrote a "prescription" and Medicare/insurance helped pay for it at a medical supply store. I could "test drive" several kinds they had in stock and they helped with the size and adjustment for height.

Mine is more for balance rather than support (because of my bad feet) and I discovered that I tend to bend over if I try to push it too far ahead of me.  Tucking my elbows on my hip bones keeps it closer and me straighter.
Shirley, I'm smiling at your comments on everything being on the other side of the house.  That's one of the great things about the rollator.  I can "load up" the seat and take things from one place to the other.

Also had grab bars installed in my shower (tile) and toilet "nook" (wall).  Those are slanted on either side of the toilet. (I agree about the lower seats; really hard to manage!)

It's another lovely Fall day in central Oklahoma.    Yesterday was also lovely and I cleaned the "gunk" out of the bird feeders.  No other outdoor "chores" and I just might sit on the patio, read and enjoy the blue skies and birds.
Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Shirley, I have two sayings about learning:  "You're never too old to learn" and 'You learn something new every day".

I do not go to my lower level because Tom has requested that I do not because he's afraid I would fall.  I respect his request because I don't want him to come home some day and find me at the bottom of the steps.  A neighbor who lived alone and had bad eyesight did fall down the steps and her BIL found her a couple of days later.  I don't remember what they did for her, but it was two or three years later that she died.  She did not stay in her condo after that.  I have everything I need on the first floor.  I do say that if push came to shove, I could get downstairs and I used the stairs to get upstairs at church recently because the elevator was too far to walk to.

I'm stubborn, too, Shirley, but I do try to see the logic of what I'm asked to do.

Callie, I love the idea of your having a colorful rollator and I know if I get one, I'd get something similar.

My bathroom isn't as fancy with ceramic tile and I have a fiberglass tub which had a grab bar already installed.  I have always used the bar for support.  The one Terry put in is on the wall just outside the front of the tub and I use that to get out of the tub.  Incidentally, if I wrote about my "very hot water shower" the other day, I checked last evening and the cold water was working OK.  I think something must have been stuck so only the hot water worked.

Mary Ann

CALLIE, I don't work any FULL shifts any more. I work 3- 4 hour days a week and that's really not so much.  I'm tired when I come home but it goes away.  What all of you are dealing with is everyday, all day.  You can't take a nap and sleep it off.  I do that all the time.  There are lots of zzzzs on my sofa and they do a good job!

Now as to making things, both doggies are hungry and the food is only half made so I better get busy!  As I said before...keep on keeping on.  You all are my inspiration!

It is starting to get dark, I should be feeding the fish but not going to try that hill with a walker! Tom & Callie had a dish of chicken I pulled out of the freezer & thawed. Tom & Tiger had some while ago and Tiger ate her scoop of tuna and ate Tom's when he walked away from it. Not his favorite food but sure is hers. She went out to run it off & Tom stayed in & slept so was ready when Callie came in to eat. They will get their Friskies half a can about 7:00-7:30... have me well trained, don't they?

Youngest son is such a "neat-nic"... after bringing all the stuff out of the RV he insisted on cleaning the dry grass clippings off the front porch. Porch has grass carpet that Cas put down the year before he died (Pete is a lot like him), it looked so nice he cleaned the entire front of the house of spider webs (my Halloween decorations  ;) ). Major job. Pete's SO ran a marathon yesterday... I think he said 36 miles in 4 hours+ minutes (can you imagine???) She came in 2nd for women & missed first by 2 min. The marathon was in/out/around Ottawa, Phyllis.

Jane, I will agree with you that so many of these Seniors are dealing with every day what I am whining about right now. I am totally in awe of their patience & tolerance. I've never had to deal with not being able to get around & am in shock that it is so difficult.

Tom & Tiger came in for their last meal of the day....Tom comes when ever I'm in the kitchen & eats what anyone leaves behind. He runs it off, no fat on him!

I'm going to have a poached egg tonight & thinking about going to bed & watching TV. Have one more question for all using the walkers (or whatever you call them). Do the palms of your hands/bones get sore from leaning on the handles? I do put my whole weight on them to move the stiff leg, not just balance. I'm going to get me pieces of memory foam & velcro to attach around the new one's handles when it gets here ... & my daughter arrives to run downstairs for me.

Hope everyone sleeps good tonight, sure has a nip in the air here. Sweet dreams and God Bless.  Shirley

Shirley I have a device that you can put your stock's and then put your foot in it clear up to the toe, smooth and straight and also a shoe spoon about 20" long helps to put shoe on. they were issued to me when I had the right Knee replaced. I still use the shoe spoon, but not the device to put socks on. Have a good rest of the day.

Time to hit the hay.
Thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Rained off and on most of the day so that should help the dry wells.
Have a good night..

I fell asleep during Matlock and when I woke up he had a British accent and looked like Simon Templar!  I think it might be time to go to bed.  I have a few lunches and dinners ahead and in the fridge for now.  Whatever I don't eat in the next few days will go in the freezer for when I want them.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..
So far no rain! Didn't get the yogurt done yesterday so have started the process now. Will make a trip to the dump as we didn't go yesterday. Some sewing did get done yesterday and I have just a few pieces left of the 1532 that goes into this quilt.

Shirley, I must admit I did have a few giggles on your discoveries. I do not find patience and pig headed a fault though as I do think most of us have that fine quality...that is what keeps us from being pushed around and we do get somewhere when needed.

Instant pot just told me we are on to the next step..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone. 48° up to mid 50's only today. Yesterday it rained all day. More rain on Thursday and I have a dentist appointment Thursday. Will not be a good day for me to sit in the chair to have my teeth cleaned.  Oh well, grin and bare  it.

AMY  I am ready to go back to bed and I have not been up long either. About time you take it easy.

LLOYD  I bought a shower seat about 9 years ago and I am glad I did. I had my son put a grab bar there and there are grab bars on all the walls in the bathroom here. Glad you are getting things at last to help you get around.

PHYLLIS  that bag under the seat is great. Some here have baskets and every thing they put in it is visible. I carry my wallet in mine but no one can see it.  I saw an add for one that has high handles so you have to put hands high and I was wondering how that would be. Would have to stand straight to hold on. The handles on mine are as high as they go and I try to remember to keep my elbows close to my body so I do not bend over. That way the rollator is closer and one does stand up better.

JANE  you are one to be up there with doing so many things and working, too. I retired the day I hit 65, just plain worn out. Still do not want to sit and vegetate and get outside for a walk every day. Days when it rains I walk the hallways in here. When you look down the long hall it looks like the last mile. I am close to the elevator so really am glad with that.

SHIRLEY  seems like every time I am in the bathroom my phone rings but the machine will pick it up if they leave a message. I cannot sit here at the computer for long, I have to get up often and walk around, that is why it takes me so long to get things done here.

CALLIE  I  put a tray on the seat of my rollator so I can move things, especially my tumbler of water. If I don't put the tray on it I will spill the water and too hard to wipe it up.

MARY ANN  I would not be able to get over the sides of a tub anymore and so glad there are showers here, although at times I would love to soak in a tub.

JANE  wish I could do a fraction of the cooking you do. The only thing I can cook is my oatmeal for breakfast. The re st of the day I pick on thing that are easy so I know I am not eating the way I should. No wonder I am down to 84 pounds.

LLOYD  we have not had snow in our forecast yet and really seldom get it this early but by Thanksgiving we usually get some.

Have a good day.

GOOD MORNING, EVERYFRIEND🎃🎃

It is cold and snowy here in the Mile High City❄️❄️❄️ There is a good six inches of snow out there but it snowed pretty much all day yesterday and it did not accumulate on the ground as it was too warm from our nearly 70degree day on Saturday.  The snow is to end this afternoon however there is another storm coming and we will have more snow from it, the weather guessers are saying😩. For someone who is not into cold and snow I sure wonder just WHY I am here, but then I could be running from the terrible 🔥 in California.  Those poor folks, my heart just aches for them 🙏

JANE, I hope there will be plenty of smiling people in your line today at work🥰

SHIRLEY, I hope the walker arrives and will not be in too many pieces for you to put together.  I only use my walker when I am out and about, but my hands have never been sore from hanging on, and I am more up right when I am using it so no sore shoulders either.  It is nothing like the walker you are using that makes you lean on and then lift it to move on!  I do not think you will have to worry about putting anything on the handles of the new walker.  Oh good grief, you gave me a fright at the thought of you even trying to go down to the river with your current walker😤🤬

AMY, as usual, you have stuff to get out and do today.  I have never made yogurt in my inta-pot, in fact I think mine says you can not use it to make yogurt.  Wow, you are getting down to the end of that 1532 pieces of cloth! How many pieces do you suppose are in that car cover quilt?🤪🤪

I am going to try to spend time this morning in my closet getting the summer things out and the winter things in!

Enjoy your day.

I just noticed something about the weather under Jenny's post and I wondered if I still had a weather thing.  I don't.  It wasn't right anyway, and I think most of the others were wrong too.

Every time I clicked on S&F after I finished posting earlier, there were no posts.  Makes one wonder where everyone is.

I hear mowers outside so I am sure we are nearing the end of the season.  Their usual day is Thursday but I'll bet they're trying to clean up all of their customers before the first of November, which is Friday.  They might come here one more time to blow leaves because most of the trees are hanging onto their leaves.  Fall is falling, all right.  I'll stay snug as a bug in a rug right here in my condo.

Merry Monday,

The past two days of gorgeous Fall weather were teasers because we're back to raw cold rain and Brrrrrr wind chills.

Glad I went to the grocery store yesterday because I don't plan on going farther than the mail box today - and may not do that if it's raining.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Yogurt is straining in the fridge and hot tub is just about full. Won't be able to use the hot tub tonight but sure will tomorrow night. The day turned out beautiful, a fire was put on but I am letting it go out. Have turkey, stuffing and potatoes and veggies for supper. Will have to give Babe a special supper as this is her 8th birthday.

Jenny, I can't imagine making a car quilt, you must admit they made a good fit for it. Snow!! Oh dear please keep it your way, although I did hear we may have it for Halloween.

Jane, hope you had lots of smiles, giggles and hugs through your line today.

Gloria, a trip to the dentist is a grin and bare or bear it :)) I would rather be working at the worst job than to go there.....oh well..

Better go check the hot tub or we may end up with an indoor swimming pool :)

Amy, I can't imagine using a hot tub this time of the year, however, I have heard of it being done.   My closest tub is in the bathroom and I don't take tub baths now, just a shower.  The hot tub makes me think of a sauna where I've read that after being in the sauna, people roll around in snow (where they have snow).  Not for me.

It's a dreary day but at least it is not raining.  The lawn mowers are here and I don't know if this is their last day or just for mowing.  Leaves will fall and they usually come some time in November to clean those up.  And we do get a lot of leaves.

Mary Ann, I love being in the hot tub in winter  up to my chin in hot water watching the snow flakes come down. No, rolling in snow doesn't excite me either but I do enjoy 104° water in the hot tub.

[color=teal We drove to a local mall to buy a watch battery & have it installed for me -a thriving mall is almost totally empty.  A newer mall was built withing 5 miles of this one and that management made deals to move almost all of the shops.  This is what is happening all over.  Twenty years of business down the drain - so sad, jobs lost and a waste of buildings.

Hello Everyfriend!  I'm checking in for the day and out for the night.  Today started off bad.  The checkin computer did a nasty at me and no one could get it working again so I had to go to another one and use my new sign in name and go through all the steps to get on line and then clock in there.  It was a royal pain.  But I had some pretty nice custmers in my line today and that kind of made up or the bad start.

It looks like most of you had a pretty ordinary day and that's OK these days.  I'd settle for "ordinary" every day with one or two "specials thrown in now and then.

Tomorrow I check back in with the clinic for a blood pressure check and then my friend and I are going to a movie.  It's Senior day at the mall theater and that's when we try to go.

I think I'm going to try to get to bed early tonight.  I've tried every night for the past week and it hasn't worked yet but sometime it will.  I hope you all have a peaceful sleep tonight and that you wake refreshed.  And may God bless us, every one!

I'm checking out for the night as well. One busy day! Daughter got in town before Andy got home, bless his heart, had a flat on the camper so had to change that half way home. I sent daughter to the store with a list for the deli dept to have sandwiches for everyone. She could make better time than if I went along.

Andy worked until just a short while ago on winterizing MY RV... I told him I could get those other guys to come to the house to do the job, they did one other year. (What they do on their own time is all their own money). Normal charge is about $120. & a pan of brownies... the offer was going to be $200 in my driveway & I insisted...Andy got the same. He was exhausted & still had to go home to clean up his camping gear. He is babysitting his 2 grands all day tomorrow, the oldest is running a fever so can't go to school.

Everyone loved the new walker/hot rod. It rolls so easy & love being able to sit. I go to see the orthopedic on Thurs. but was told they don't do a MRI unless ordered by the Ortho... insurance won't pay unless. Fun/fun arranging rides. I will try to get me in the driver's seat by Wed so I can take myself. Kids told me that I have to have Uber app on my phone to use... I am anxious to be mobile again.  :-\

Talk is we might get snow Wed or Thurs... and this drop tonight was NOT predicted. The "feels like" is already below freezing by the weather channel on the Kindle. Don't think the ground is cold enough to have much stick, temps not going to stay down long. I did manage to get boots on today as the temps kept dropping & I managed to get outside a little.

Jane, do you ever cook rice with you chicken for the pups?  My sister used to cook it for their pets & I was thinking about trying it with these cats. They are tired of the rotisserie chicken, now leaving part of the canned chicken breast...getting very spoiled.

Time to hit the sack! Sweet dreams and God Bless. Shirley

CAROL, I have been hoping you would post and let us know how you and Don are getting on.  I have also been thinking about your son and hope he is doing well after his surgery.  It is a cold night here and another storm is coming tomorrow.  It will be very cold all week long.  I wish I were in Tucson with you😻

SHIRLEY, I hope you are doing OK.....

I hope you made it to bed JANE. Sleep well.

Yea, you are here, SHIRLEY.  Glad the walker arrived and you like it.....glad your daughter arrived and Andy made it back safe.  He could have done without the flat tire, I am sure!  Not sure about you driving yourself to the appointment on Thursday.....please use Uber if no one else can take you!

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone, looks like another raw day here. I did go out  yesterday and my walk was a short one. Had my winter jacket on but felt chilly. Should have had a sweat shirt on under it but didn't think it was that cold.

JENNY  had an email from a cyber friend in Montana yesterday and they were getting what I would call a blizzard with the wind and snow and the windchill below zero.

MARY ANN  the landscapers come here on Wednesday mornings and have a lot of leaves to get up and pine needles are falling, too. The beautiful maple trees with their dark red leaves are dropping their leaves fast  now.

CALLIE  rain here in forecast for tomorrow and Thursday and I have an appointment Thursday at the dentist. Have a ride booked and do  not want to cancel and have to wait for another appointment.

AMY  I now have the best dentist I ever had and first woman one, very  gentle and the tech is good cleaning my teeth and that is something I always dreaded.

JANE  hope you did get to bed  and sleep early last night. Some nights I am asleep before 9 pm. Then I wake at 3 or 4 in the morning.

SHIRLEY  one hing I dislike since I stopped driving is having to get a ride. This town has a car for us seniors for doctor appointments only. As soon as I get an appointment I call to book the car and if they are already booked that day I can find out when they have an opening and call back to the doctors and change to the day the car is available.  I book my eye doctor appoint a year ahead of time.  The gals who drive the car are both good drivers and very helpful and are waiting when you are ready to go home. All free.

JENNY  love your new avatar, cute pumpkin.

LLOYD  hope you found a good western to watch and then got more sleep.

Have a good day.

Attem is a little better this morning but since this is a "free" day (all kids occupied) I've had breakfast & going back to bed. Tom & Tiger spent the night inside but wanted out about 4:00 am, was really cold with "feels like" so not long before they were back at the door begging to come in. Since I can't trust CAllie inside without be being in the room to watch her every move, she is better sleeping in the garage in her little nest. I turned one of those huge plastic tubs on the side, have a folded rug under & her heated bed inside... over the top & sides I put another big throw rug & it hangs half way down the opening, so between the heated bed & all those rugs, she is "snug as a bug in a rug" and doesn't feel the cold as bad when out. She comes inside to eat most meals but likes to sleep late so I put her breakfast of salmon & tuna on the top step so I don't take a chance of falling. Before the leg problem I was taking her breakfast in bed...just outside her hidey hole. She has everything she needs right there, self feeder full of dry Friskies, self water server, litter box & fresh training pads because she has it in her head that litter boxes are just to poop in.  ::)

Gloria, I am impressed with all your town does for Seniors... nothing like that here, not even a break on taxes for seniors. I've been trying to figure what CNN??? stands for, every time you mention one coming I mean to ask & forget. That would be such a blessing, for sure. Right now I need an army to clean up this place, but having someone to give a hand like that would be ideal.

I still can't get comfy laying in bed so not as rested as should be, will go close my eyes. Still talking about a snow late tonight & tomorrow & might accumulate. Should be interesting to have my first outing with walker...& drive, warnings of the first rain or snow for a while that streets are especially slice oil leaks from all those cars. I do take the "elevated roads" so hopefully by Thursday all that will be gone. Eventually I will get Uber & grocery delivery set up...not in any hurry until after the visit with the orthopedic. Maybe it is something that will heal itself.

Oh... I just looked at the sliding door not 3 feet from where I'm sitting, saw what I first thought was Tiger wanting back in... eyes up against the class door. Stood up to let her in & it turned around as I opened the door & took off.. Tiger was sitting on the step right next to those eyes & sure enough, that raccoon was wondering why that self feeder was still empty! I had filled it Friday for Callie to have while we were gone... should have been enough to last her a week but noticed it was empty by Sunday. I have not been seeing any raccoons or skunks for a long time. I'm not good at recognizing foot prints but know something down by the river leaves lots of little ones all over the sand. I haven't been down since before last Friday so guess it figured I was serving at the house now. That feeder will come back inside! I have another one in the garage for Callie but never leave those doors open after dark.

Good morning everyone..

Better get used to waking up in the dark as next weekend the clocks go back :(

I am off to the massage therapist this morning. First will take Kyle out for his coffee. The yogurt has drained and now needs to be put into a container and the whey in another to use in soups and meals for the dogs.

Lloyd, hope you found some more zz's to use way too early to be up.

Gloria, some of the tamaracks have lost their needles but still a lot more to come down. They are such a pretty yellow now.

Shirley, no poppin wheelies with your rollator!! :2funny:
What a busy day for all, hope you do feel up to driving but use a driver if not.

Jenny ,your Jonah is so cute in the pumpkin.

Better get a move on here.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're up and the doggies have been out and had their pill so we're waiting for the boinger.  Lots to do today so I'll be getting started right after we have breakfast.  First cup of coffee is right in front of me.

SHIRLEY, I've made chicken and rice for the doggies for about a hundred years.  Whenever one of them jas a case pf the "trots" that's our remedy.  It was originally lamb and rice and I always had a package of lamb in the freezer for that purpose.  I haven't been able to find lamb lately so chicken has been our substitute and it works just as well as the lamb.  We just went through that phase with Mickie and she's fine now.

I didn't get to bed as early as I had hoped because I got involved in cleaning out a cupboard when I went looking for something.  I've been doing that lately because I've stopped taking my trash to my son's dumpster.  Sometimes it's just too much.  So I called around and the one I used to have has a program for those of us ho don't have a lot.  They call it "Tag a bag"  You buy 5 tags for $17. and you use them whenever you have a bag full and a bag full is whatever lines my trash can.  I'm thinking this is a pretty good deal.  The only thing I have to remember is to call them on Wednesday to request a Friday pickup.  I'm thinking I might have a can full about every two weeks through the winter.  You can also request a recycle bin and they'll take that whenever you have it full.  I'm thinking that might be a good deal too.  With all the canning I do, I don't have a lot of recycling so maybe monthly or more.  I'm still thinking about that.  Right now, I just take a bag to my daughters when I have some cans or whatever.  And the nice thing is, we don't have to sort the recycling.  They do it for us.

I suppose that's not o much interest to you all but it's my life right now.  I'm sorry if I bored you.  I hope you just skipped over it.

I forgot to say, I used my IP to cook my large package of ground turkey for my homemade dog food the last time.  Works pretty well.  Fast, too!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way.

I'm here but not really awake yet.  I was so tired last night so I went to bed early and, of course, woke up around 3:30.  Tried to go back to sleep but couldn't so turned on my pad and watched SafariLive (a live camera in South Africa).  There weren't too many animals around so turned it off and eventually went back to sleep for awhile.

It is a little cloudy today so not sure if the sun will come up or not.  At least, we are just supposed to get some rain this week and NOT snow!

Glad you are able to use your IP, Jane, to cook for the pups.  And it is fast, that's true.   I made a big pot of 15 bean soup and we've had a couple of meals from it.  The applesauce is almost gone so must get some more apples when I go shopping.

I knew you would like the rollator, Shirley.  Don't think I could live without mine now.  I've been following orders ( ;)  ) and taking a walk down to the end of the block (with rollator) and back every afternoon.  Eventually I will try to extend the distance.  I have never liked planned exercise but I have to admit it is helping my mobility.  I haven't had vertigo for several days now.  Fingers are crossed that it stays that way.  I do have an occasional bout of dizziness that comes and goes quickly so I don't worry about it too much.

Breakfast time and then household laundry so I must be on my way.  MAKE it a good day, All.

Well, talk about being absent minded.........I came, read & added my 2¢ and come back to discover I forgot to ADD it!

Phyllis, like you, I don't take to being pushed for "exercise" but know keeping mobile is important at any age but especially at our age. I'm moving through the house, sometimes even without the rollator but careful to have something I can lean on & not too much pressure on the knee or any twisting/lifting. Keep telling my kids that is the advantage of not taking pain pills, your body tells you what NOT to do! Happy to hear you've had some good days of head not spinning.  ;)  I keep meaning to e-mail my friend that couldn't make the reunion because her husband was in the middle of one of those bad spells... she was so anxious to get there since they had moved close enough to make the reunions only a few years ago.

When I wake up & don't go right back to sleep I go to the kitchen & fix breakfast (cats show up every time). Once my tummy is full I'm ready to go back to bed. Coffee just relaxes me enough to fall asleep almost instantly.  Has screwed up my day time schedule but who cares? Instead of starting my day at 6;00 or 7:00 am, I'm up & dressed more like 9:00 am.

Jane, I come first to see what everyone is doing, before pouring a cup of coffee or anything. Well, I do put the tuna & salmon in bowls for the cats first so I can have a little peace.  I love reading about your (and everyone's) lives. we've all come to the stage of maintaining our bodies and doing what we can, so I find it helpful to see how each conquers the struggle.

I think my trash service is about $70 for 3 months with NO recycling. Can't get it any cheaper but this outfit allows for 4 extra bags or barrels of yard waste, etc. I have the limit in spring & fall, but now that the mowers either mulch or take the clipping with them, don't have a dumpster real full in summer or coldest months of winter. Tree limbs & tall grass has to be tied in secure bundles of no longer than 4' & I think I'm going to get that young couple so willing to work hard for $20 an hour each... to help with cutting down that grass. I think the 3 of us can get this yard in shape in 2 hours, cheaper than having a "yard service" do the job.  I bought a leaf mulcher last year & it works great, will still try to pick up leaves myself.  I'd rather do what I can myself, not only saves money but MAKES me move more!

Lamb around here is so expensive I've looked & never bought. The roofer raises sheep & mentioned he'd bring me a package but never did. He was meeting himself coming & going & booked solid until they can't put on roof because of snow!  I'll have to wait until I can go down to the freezer in the basement to get out the chicken I'll cook for the cats... it's been in so long I don't want to cook for myself. When we got a 4 week old German Shepherd she ate what I cooked for our kids... veggies, oatmeal & meats.  The lady that had her father (& reason we were given the pick of the litter...) had one from another mother same age (she kept that male of hers busy!). Anyway, her pup got a kidney infection because she was feeding it lots of eggs & meat so when they were going to be gone for a week I volunteered to baby sit.  Fed her pup what ours ate & she was in good shape when they got home, kidney infection cleared up.  I know these cats are getting too much protein with the salmon/tuna/raw hamburger/chicken & canned Friskies. I do keep the dry Indoor-outdoor complete Friskies for them in dishes all over the house, and they do eat a lot of that, supposed to have the greens they need. But at least they are not hunting & bringing ME breakfast at the back door!

Amy, don't know about you but when I'm stressed about anything I cook... want to feed anything & everybody.  You do a lot of cooking... and I've still not weakened to buying the IP!  I will pass my 2 Dutch ovens on to my daughter one of these days but not ready yet. They are heavy to get in & out of the oven when full of meat!   You mentioned going to the massage therapist... have you hurt your back?

Gloria, I am really pleased with the long johns of nylon that I found, cuts the wind chill that comes through sweats or any other woven fabric.  I discovered when the kids were young that no matter how warm any coat, if it didn't have a layer of nylon to cut the wind, they would catch colds.  Got to get up & move... can't sit too long & have had several texts & a couple phone calls since I started this.  May need to delete some....

Shirley, I love to cook but have yet to learn not to cook so much! Thank goodness for neighbours and a freezer.
My shoulder is giving me a bit of grief at the moment, I have nevershied away from bull work and it is being to tell on me.
Massage went well and now to soak in the hot tub.

SHIRLEY and AMY, cooking has always been my form of stress relief also.  When my daughter asked me once what I do to relax, I said "go in the kitchen and cook something".  It always works!

My friends and I went to see "The Abominable"

Good Morning Evryfriend!  It looks like it's a morning for sleeping in!  The girls told me it was time to get up and when I looked at the clock it was only 5 minutes before the alarm was to go off.  Now I have my coffee and the girls have been out and they've taken care of business and had their pills and we're waiting for the boinger.  More than you wanted to know?  I'm sorry but that's my morning!

I'll be off to Wally World this morning to greet my public so....

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone. Warmer this morning  53° and very foggy. Rain coming in late in the day and will be rain all day tomorrow. I really do not like going out when it rains anymore. If not for the dentist appointment tomorrow I would just stay inside.

SHIRLEY  CNA is Certified Nursing Assistant. They usually start as house keepers and then take classes and become a CNA. They do every thing to help us from giving us showers to doing dishes and laundry. So far I can take my own shower and dress myself, they can cook and do light housework. I have had some that are great and a few young ones who just want to sit and play with their smart phones. One of their rules is no phones on. I let them know that. They are not getting payed to sit and do nothing. Other s cannot sit still and always looking for things to do. I wouldn't want raccoons hanging around, they can do a lot of damage and around here they have captured a lot that were rabid.

AMY  never saw a Tamarac tree. Here there are a lot of pines and hemlocks, they lose the old needles every fall and can get into every thing. The landscaper are here now and blowing the leaves and needles into piles and they haul them away.

JANE  living here the company has big trash bins and one for recycle. I think the whole state now has pick up at their homes. big trash bins and a recycle bin.

PHYLLIS  walking has always been something I liked to do and now without my rollator I would not be ale to walk. ow that it is cooler I have been walking around the parking lot just about every day.

LLOYD  I am not ready for snow yet. I have one more appointments next month and then no more till April.  Everyone knows I no longer go anywhere in the winter.

Have a good day.

Good morning.  I am just marking my place.

I did sleep in a little bit longer this morning, as it was so dark and dreary.  Looks like the sun may be trying to  make an appearance.  I thought it was going to rain, but maybe that is for tomorrow.

Jane, I thought about you last night.  On the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel, they showed the movie "The Christmas Card".  I know that is one of your favorite Hallmark movies and I just happened to be scrolling though the channels and was just in time to watch it.  I have no problem watching that movie over and over. I will probably watch it several more times during this Holiday season.  I think I remember your saying that you had bought it to be able to watch it anytime. It is such a "feel good" movie.  I was surprised that it was on that Movie and Mysteries Channel.  I forget about that channel.

I need to get myself moving a bit.  Have a few things to get done today. Need to dust and vacuum a little bit.  Been putting off doing laundry, also.  Need to do at least one load later this afternoon.

I hope everyone is feeling good this morning,  And for those of you who are under the weather, I hope today is a better day than yesterday.

Joy

I'm always amazed when I discover how many of us all over the USA (and world) have similar habit - like sleeping in and not getting dressed right away.  (My next-door neighbor says her mother taught her to be fully dressed with makeup and hair done before she ever steps out of the bedroom.  I just smile and say, "That's nice" - while thinking "Whatever!  ::) )

I might still be asleep if the trash truck hadn't made so much noise - and I'm still in my gown/robe.

Jane, your doggies and I are similar in that I also have to wait for a certain time after my first morning pill before I can have breakfast.

.The paper was wet this morning so I had to spread pages around until they're dry enough to read.  Am about done wandering around web sites and have had breakfast.  I've begun doing the Daily Challenge and Goals on 4 different Solitaire games on my Tablet so guess I'll do that and then think about getting dressed.
The weather is miserable and I'm tempted to just go back and snuggle under the covers for the rest of the day but, if I did, the phone would probably ring and I'd have to listen to some long message about the dire predicament I'll be in if I don't call "this number" right away.   >:(

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Callie, when we're retired, if we don't have an appointment, we can do whatever we want after we get up and staying undressed is one of the benefits of retirement.  I did get dressed so I am ready for whatever comes along, but leaving the house is not one of those whatevers.  The cat and I are batching it for most of the day.

I am doing some genealogy for lack of anything else on the computer.  Some of mine, some for a friend and some for a distant relative.  Spreads it out.

Somewhere in the middle of the afternoon, I'll find time for a nap.  Another benefit of retirement.

Not a lot will be done tonight...just going to put  my feet up.

Lloyd, happy to read that you have your hook up for the scooter and now you are all set.

Hello Everyfriend!  Todaywas a pretty good day.  I didn't do much besides my shift at WM and then picked up a couple of things on the way home.  Tomorrow will be a stay at home day and I'm hoping for a good night's sleep since I didn't take any naps today and I didn't watch any TV through my eyelids.

I have a repair guy coming by tomorrow morning to get some measurements and check some paint colors and I'm hoping that my "get up and go" will give me the energy to rake a few leaves sometime tomorrow. My two dogwood trees are a beautiful red color.  I don't remember them ever being this pretty before and the big maple tree has lost most of it's plain brown leaves.  That's what needs the raking.

I made a nice pan of scrambled eggs and sausage for supper and I have enough for a couple breakfasts.  I'm trying to use up things that have been in the freezer or fridge for a while and it was time for the eggs AND the sausage.

One of these days I have to get the fruit cake started.  I think I told you my mother used to say that if you didn't have the fruit cake made and aging by the second week of November, you might as well forget it.  And she's been nagging me for the past few days to get the stuff together.  I have some of it but not all of it yet.  I figure this weekend I better stock up.

Now I'm going to watch a couple episodes of Home Improvement with Tim Allen and then take the doggies out and hit the hay.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us everyone.

Day is done & so am I~~ My daughter has been here since about 9:00 am... invited she & son over for breakfast so they could visit before we started getting all my chores done. We had biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns made for fresh potatoes & of course, coffee. Had one little scoop of hash browns left to have with my egg in the morning.

I made a list for her & we got every single thing done. Tomorrow she is going to come back & we are going to fill my little red car with gas & be at the doctor's office as far on the other side of town, in face, not sure it is inside the city limits. Had to laugh when I insisted on wanting to make sure I can drive before she leaves.. she isn't eager to ride with me.  :2funny:  She will do the driving across town. Everyone keeps telling me not to expect any real diagnosis tomorrow.. it becomes a wait & see. I'm going to take a shower & wash my hair tonight so I can have me & cats ready to roll by 10:00 am..

We had a little rain & snow so expect those streets will be slick in the morning. Cats are not impressed with the cold, they each find a furnace vent to sit on & hog the heat! ::) My daughter just called, she went to spend the night with her son & family & discovered that my gr-grandaugher went to the same "bone" doctor as I see tomorrow. They loved him & his technique. I feel much better about it. Have things to do before going to bed so better get moving.

Lloyd, nice they brought you a scooter. Seems the doctors I deal with didn't think I'd want to wait for Medicare & Blue Cross to come through for my walker so I bought what was recommended by Jenny & Sandy... works great. I'm anxious to hear what he recommends about exercise, etc. tomorrow.

Mary Ann, have you done any of the ancestor DNA things?  Our family has done the 23&Me & so far it's pinpointed a lot of family we never new existed but it did show my oldest brother's gr-daughter as MY gr-daughter! I got all of mine in (they have all taken the test)....& I gave permission for all to check my medical report. Only thing was that I "have a marker for age related macular degeneration"... not that I might get it, just the marker. Absolutely nothing else. My 3rd grade teacher told the class when we were studying where all of us came from, my ancestors being mostly French with English & German thrown in, probably had some "Native American" since the area where they settled had friendly Indians & now I find I am 100% Northern European. (whatever that means). Must admit, I was a little disappointed because I figured that's why I love the woods & wildlife. My brother had done all the genealogy starting before computers, so we didn't have many secrets left.

Amy, or is it Jane, that says they are all in but their shoe laces.... I lost my laces this afternoon & running around in my sox!  Sweet dreams & God Bless. OH>..has anyone from Colorado reported in? Heard one bit of news about near blizzard out there.

Jane, I'm also seeing a lot of leaves under the sweet gum tree... they'll wait!

Yes , Shirley, I have done the DNA on both Ancestry and 23&Me.  I don't bother with cousins further than 4th and all I seem to get are 5th and beyond.  My grandfather Tock was born in what was Denmark but was later ceded to Germany.  Both companies show me as northern European which covers a lot of territory.  What really surprised me is that I am 18% Swedish which leads me to wonder if the reason I can't go back further on my 2nd great-grandfather Tock is maybe the family came from Sweden.  I do have Sweden ancestors on my Grandmother Tock's family.  Norm would be devastated because he has always been so proud of his Danish ancestry (remember GreatDane).  I too had much of my ancestry "fed" to me so I had a lot before DNA.  Not only that, cousins, aunts etc all participated in sharing information.  I think it is hard for the companies to really pinpoint relationships; both Annie and James are shown as second cousins whereas they are both grands-once removed.  That doesn't bother me because I have put a note as to what their actual relationships are.

I am now trying to get info for Tom's friend who cleans for us.  She has a crazy, mixed up family what with adoptions and remarriages.

It is nearly time for the cat and me to go head for bed.  Kendrick has already come to tell me to get moving.  I don't usually listen.

Just wanted to say goodnight to EVERYFRIEND!

Busy day here......Michele had her first radiation treatments today, only 17 to go 🙏. Sadly she has quite a drive to the hospital where the treatments are being done and with the snow and cold we have been having that is NOT good.

Good luck tomorrow, SHIRLEY.  SO happy to read your daughter was with you all day today and will be driving you tomorrow to your appointment.

Tomorrow we have a appointment with a lady regarding a change of residence for us......we have been thinking about this for awhile and decided it is time to make this change.  It will not happen until mid summer, and needless to say there is a lot of stuff to go through here, and I am dreading that part.

Pleasant dreams to all.

2 important things....

SHIRLEY, I wish you good news from your dr. today and...

JENNY, my prayers go with Michele for this next treatment.  I hope it's the last she needs and she can go on to enjoy her family and her life for many years to come.  Also, good luck on your upcoming move.  It's a big step!

AMY, I always hated it when "Jack" invaded my sewing territory.  He's not a fun guy to have around

OOPS!  Boinger!  Later friends!

No snow here in NC but we are supposed to have strong winds and possible tornadoes right at Trick or Treat time this evening so not sure if the kids will be out or not.  I'm ready if they are going to come for candy.

Thinking about Michelle in Denver....Shirley in Wichita...and whoever else has doctor appointments today.  Praying for good news for all.

Please, Lloyd, no "wheelies" with that new elec. scooter.  We need to keep you injury free now.

Dreary day for us here and I guess I'll go to the store.  It wouldn't take very much to talk me out of that, however.

I did have that date with Jack and then I put him away....for good I wish. :) All 80 blocks are done now just to sew them together.

Tomorrow we get to look after the neighbours dog (our boy ) lol We have to stay around home as the fellow from Bell will be here to "fix" the remote.

So nice to come in and see everyone popping in to say hello. Now for Janie, Lloyd ,Joy, Phyliss, Carol  and Gloria.

Shirley hope the Dr visit went alright.

OLDIESMAN-MICHAEL  thank you for getting us back in action here again. Did not know if lines were down or what happened. Never thought of the  site being down. Been running good for so long with no problems.

Good evening, tried all day to get in and couldn't. Was beginning to think something was wrong some place, never thought about the site being down.
We had a lot of rain and very strong winds last night. A lot of trees ad branches down. The local news at 6 said there were still over 11,000 homes without power. We are lucky in this town, have  local electricity and all the workers live in town and don't want to be without it so are always out  when a chance of power going out. The rest of the state has National grid and from every little storm seems their power goes out.
Thursday I didn't get too wet going to the dentist, was more like a drizzle. Coming home it was pouring. Getting  from the car onto the porch in front of the building I was drenched.
They took xrays of my teeth and found I have cavities just under the gum line. My favorite dentist said those teeth should come out before they get infected.  They set the appointment for that in December. I will call on Monday and see If I can change it till the end of March or April. I have a hard time putting a winter jacket on and off. I have to sit on the bed to do it here. Yesterday the tech took it off for me and the dentist helped me get it on. I do hate asking for help.

Have a good night and hope we are still here tomorrow.

Hooray! For Oldiesman!  We're up and running again!  That was awful!  I felt so lonely that I almost cried.  I really missed all of you!

Today was a pretty good day all day!  Even the hours at work went well.  Then I went by and picked up Frankie for a little visit and her friend picked her up about the same time Cathy picked me up to go to the Amish store.  Got a lot done but I'm tired!

AMY, I'm glad "Jack" has gone home.  He's not a fun guy to have around!  In fact, he can get really "picky" at times.

After the storm passed through, it got really cold here.  I rooted out my winter jacket to take the girls out today.  It wasn't just cold, it was also windy and that made it feel even colder.

I'm going to go wrap up in a blanket and watch a couple episodes of Home Improvement and then hit the hay.  Frankie's father is picking her up to attend her aunt's funeral tomorrow and they're going to drop off her doggie on the way.  That was my idea.  I think he'll be happier here with us than alone in her apartment.  The doggies all get along fine and they eat the same food and go out at the same time so we'll have a good day!

I hope you all had a good day.  I missed you and I'm glad you're all back!

I'm glad to see things look back to normal now.  I felt so lost; it isn't that you can pick up a phone and call someone or e-mail someone (I  have the e-mails of several people here).

I hope we can stay well and I'd like it if S&F would also stay well; we don't need any more outages.

So nice to know that I can come back in and say goodnight!

SHIRLEY, I hope everything went well for you yesterday and you will have time to come in and give us a update on how you are doing after the medical appointment yesterday.

GLORIA, I am sorry to read that the dentist appointment did not go as well as I am sure you would have liked and then you get drenched on the way home.

We did go meet with the lady about the property I mentioned a couple of nights ago.  We did put our money down to start the process on the new condo that we are thinking about buying.  At this point we can get ALL of our money back at any time, and if we did not want to take a chance that someone else would buy it and then we would not be able to get in this building.  We have the paperwork to read through and all the information about what choices we have for the cabinets, flooring, appliances etc.  I must admit it is a bit frightening to think about actually doing this as we have so much stuff to get rid of, but we have at least 8 to 9 months to get it accomplished.  We have to make our choices before the end of the year for the inside.  That is going to be a job in its own right deciding how much extra we want to add to the original investment.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND,

Jenny
