A Gardener's Blessing

May the bunnies never nibble on your young
and tender shoots,
May your transplants settle in and put
down hardy roots,
May your weeds come out real easy and your
lawn be fungus free,
May you never put your back out or
inhale a bumblebee,
May your roses never stab you or
your hoses spring a leak,
And may everyone come calling when
your garden's at its peak,
May you never grow too weary as you toil
for hours and hours,
And may you never be too busy to stop
 and smell the flowers!

From the10th century   by an anonymous Japanese woman poet.

Dreams, listen, my dreams!
Do not bring me together
With the man I love -
When once I have awakened
It makes me feel so lonely.

WISHING

We have all done our share of wishing,
for this and that or those.
It is something that is part of life,
as everybody knows.

You may have wished for lots of cash,
to help send your worries flying.
Or wished that you could make someone laugh,
to wash away their crying.

A wish that you could change something,
that was done or said,
Someone may be ill and full of suffering,
and you wish it was you instead.

Is there ever a day goes by,
without a little wish being made.
can you count how many times,
that you have wished or you have prayed.

So it seems that wishing never ends.
but some times they do come true
So please  my friends don't give up hope.
The wish granters sent me you.

Jane,  I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, so I had something to eat and came in here.  I am so sorry to have to read about your  sweet little Annie.  I know it will be a pretty rough day for you today. Will keep you in my thoughts.

Good morning, Joy..... same problem, couldn't sleep & decided to just get up & eat. I doubt Jane is sleeping but expect she and Mickie are hugging Annie and crying. We all share the sadness. Love you, Janie.

Jane, you are surrounded with love and hugs today. Not an easy day today, just know you are in my prayers. We give our furkids unconditional love and they give it right back.

Good morning everyone, warmer this morning than it has been, 28°, no teens and not windy either.

JANE   I am so sorry about Annie. I do know what it is like to have a beloved pet put to sleep. Been there a few times and it never gets easier.

BUBBLE  love the winter graphic. I am going to copy the Gardner's Prayer to send to my family. The 3 of them plant a garden every year. Thank you for the new page today. Did not realize it was already mid November.

JOY  If I had something to eat I would never be able to go back to bed.

Have a good day

Good morning, EVERYFRIEND.

I am feeling so sad and sorry for you this morning JANE, after reading about your Annie 🦋. HUGS 🙏

Thank you, BUBBLE, for our new page and the goodies you shared with us. Loved the little guy sitting in the leaves.  He looks about the size of my little Jonah😘

AMY, I smiled as I read about you spending time with your son and granddaughter 💕

Son Brian has just landed in Phoenix.  He is going to visit my Dad this morning and then he spends time with his best childhood friend.

Bob had a nice Birthday.  Nothing too exciting.  Brian spent most of the day with us and we enjoyed a nice Bday lunch.  He always helps us with many things when he comes over and we appreciate him so much❣️  I have been having some issues with my iPhone and he was working on it......moral of the story is that it is old and very slow and he would like me to replace it.  We are thinking about it but the things are so darned expensive😤🤬

I wish you ALL a good day.

Our page was switched right after I posted my condolences to Janie.  I've been thinking about her today with love and hugs.

#1 son dropped by this afternoon.  He had taken the day off and was over this way doing errands.  He arrived "just in time"  ;) to fill the bird feeder and trim back the four Hostas that had finally wilted.  We had a wonderful conversation about many family things and "just for fun".

I also got several Domestic Duties done.

That's it from this corner...

I have to thank all of you for your kind thoughts about my loss of Annie and SHIRLEY, you're right.  I feel drained!  My kids have been great and I've tried to give most of my free time to Mickie because I know she's missing Annie.  I'm so tired I think I'll go to bed now and see how we both sleep.

LLOYD, you take care and mind the Dr.

I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Tom woke me up about 2:00 am & been arguing with him about going out. His limp is worse after being out in the cold, but in his case (will throw up at the thought of being in a cage to make a trip to the vet)... I'm not sure a lot of his pain is NOT in his head. I watch him down by the river & he's walking pretty normal until he gets near me & puts on a big pity act. You know all the books by animals, where you read what they are thinking..... well, they are true, these fur babies do think and in Tom's case, have him a nervous wreck when afraid.

Jane, thanks for checking in, know it isn't easy waking up from yesterday's nightmare. Was Annie the one taking the morning pill? Not easy to change a routine and talk normal about her but the dread of that day coming is over and you can let yourself relax from that part of living on the edge. Doesn't mean you won't miss her constantly, but hopefully Mickie is in good health and you can have her fur cousins over to play now & then. Thinking of you and this sad day.

Lloyd, sorry you've been in the hospital again. Maybe you & Nancy need to consider moving into town and "downsizing" from all the work the farm needs. As long as you can find a place with a heated workshop that should keep you busy. I'll bet Nancy would like not having to drive so far to the store, right Nancy? Will be hard to give up the home you built... I was left behind to handle passing the house we built on to the real estate... raised our kids in.... and cried all the way to Kansas City leaving behind 3 grown kids. It was over 100°  & my van and the trailer I was pulling had all my art supplies, cleaning supplies & even candles that the movers weren't allow to haul. They were concerned for my safety in the heat & encouraged me to wait until near dark to drive. Had 2 birds in a cage riding on the passenger seat to talk to, but didn't stop the tears flowing. It was a whole different life but turned out to be for the best, got to spend a lot more time with my parents that lived in Sedalia, MO before they died. Take care.... hope you get to feeling better.

Bubble, keep neglecting to thank you for the beautiful graphics & sayings.... certainly outdid yourself, great choices for us.

Good morning to all you folks.... I'm going to have a bite to eat & go back to bed for a couple hours. Need to make a grocery run for sale items they were out of yesterday, going to get there when they unload the truck!  I'm in charge of turkey, turkey breast & noodles & all that goes with it (dressing, gravy, etc). 2 days of cooking & since we celebrate a whole bunch of birthdays, each of us women show up with birthday cakes/pies/sweets of any kind. I'm going to plug in the RV to have extra refrigerator & freezer space... every year I tell them "this is the last year".... for me to do the main part of the meal... but I do love it and since I don't have to clean house for company (we switch between a couple of the grands & #1 son's house so they are geared for kids).... We all work together so nice... one gr-daughter has a new boyfriend about every year and even they are never uncomfortable with our rowdy gang. I pass out the Christmas money with a threat that "if they don't tell me what I got them for Christmas I will buy the gifts myself & they won't like what I get".  My mother used to do that with their grands but I convinced her if they were allowed to wait until the day after Christmas to spend their money, they could get twice as much!  :smitten:

Good morning everyone 24° but sky looks like it will be a sunny day, of course the sun is not up yet.  I think this will be short. My right eye is hurting and blurry and tears are running down my cheek. I hope when my son gets here later he can put some drops in my eye. Hard to read the posts but did. Sorry I cannot reply. Think I will lay on the couch and listen to the TV with my eyes closed.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Clear sky this morning but it is -5° F out there. Will hang the bedding out in a bit. Today is making Janies Mom Christmas cake I did do one part last night and let it cool....made the house smell so good! I think I could eat just that part, warmed up and on vanilla ice cream!!

Bubble ,thank you also for the new start page. I also copied the Garden message to pass on ,thank you. I think we were all concerned for Jane that messages were short.

Gloria, hope your son comes early to help you with the drops.

Lloyd, please take it easy.I know we think we are able to do what we in or 20 -30s but that stage has long past. No more bullin work, we have to take care of our bodies the best way we can. Glad you are home .

Callie, domestic duties are always on tap........never run out of them here.

Jenny, what did we do before these fancy phones??   We had a great visit with the kids then did what we had to and headed home. Roads were a lot better than what they were but nice to get back home.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning.  Overcast and chilly here with rain in the forecast.  I'm not going out!  Meniere's bothered me yesterday so I spent most of the day just sitting in the recliner.  Seems to be better today.

I'm sorry that you were in the hospital, Lloyd.  And even more sorry to hear that you have more problems with your heart.  Take it easy and just take care of yourself.

Not a whole lot to talk about here so I'll end by just saying that I hope today will be a good day for all of us.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I want you all to know how much I appreciate all of you.  I came in occasionally yesterday and read the messages and it was nice to know how many of you were sympathetic to what I was going through.  I know in my heart that Annie is happier and healthier where she is today and that she has found some friends to play with while she waits for Mickie and me to join her.  Mickie has been sticking to me like glue.  If I get up and go to another room, she follows.  And when I sit down, she's right beside me.  Right now, she's under the desk lying across both my feet!

I've decided that I'm going to try taking her with me in the car whenever I can like Amy does her doggies.  She always was a better rider than Annie, although Annie made three trips to Texas and back with me but she was always ready to get out and walk when we stopped.  Mickie doesn't seem to care if the trip is only down the street.  She'll go!  And I'll try some longer walks with her.  She's pretty energetic.

This morning I'm going to start getting out my candy making stuff.  I can't make too big a mess because the electrical guy said they'd probably be back next week sometime  I have an inside trick though.  When they're coming everything I'm working with on the kitchen counters goes in the oven to hide.  I just have to remember it's in there.  The stove is pretty safe.  It's brand new and won't need any service for a long time.

Jane, it's good to see you back.  We all know Annie is running around dog heaven with her newfound friends.  Was she the older of your two "kids"?  I remember you getting her, but I don't remember when Mickie joined your family.

Lloyd, everyone else has said what I think - take it easy!  You don't need more heart problems.

I'm having trouble waking up this morning, but I have showered and shampooed so I have a good start on my day.  Like Gloria, my eyes are bothering me.  I think I used them too much yesterday, but what can we do?  We have to see!

Jane - I'm just dropping in today, tell you how sorry I am to hear about Annie.  I've been through it too, many times over the years, with beloved family pets.  The pain and sadness continues on for a long time, but slowly eases with the passing of time.  I'm glad you have Mickey, for comfort.

Another day nearly over..they just pass much too quickly 💥💥

This afternoon we went to our granddaughters choral concert and I loved it.  It was all day choral gathering for the feeder elementary schools, middle and high school.  it was so much better than it could have been....just love seeing young people doing something that they love so much.  I will always have a special place in my heart for organized singing groups as I was involved in many during my younger years.

JANE, it sure was nice to see your post.  I know we all have certainly had you on our minds knowing what you are going through after having to put Annie down.  Of course Mickie is suffering also and she is helping you, as you are helping her to get through these tough days.

PHYLLIS, I am sorry to read the darn Meniers is bothering you again.  Take it easy and I hope it is gone by the time you read this😢

SHIRLEY, SHIRLEY, SHIRLEY.....now I just have to ask you seriously, WHY oh WHY did you take on SO MUCH again this year to prepare a big meal for your family?  I know you have always done this and you like to cook for your loved ones, but with what you have had going on I just have to say that it seems like just too much for you at this time in your life😢😤❣️❣️❣️

CALLIE, nice to read that your son stopped by to spend some time with you.  Nothing much better than a one to one visit😘

LLOYD, I did not read just what you did this time that made you have to go to the hospital but I do hope you will take it easy and rest up!

It is starting to  ❄️s ❄️n ❄️o ❄️w
Gurrrrr. I do not think it will accumulate too much, and we always need the moisture....Butttttt

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND,

Jenny

Just stopped by to say good night.  Andy called with his good night... he was born on the 17th of Nov ...1960. Memories...

Jenn, my daughter plans to be here all that week "to help". She wants to be in the kitchen when I'm fixing everything to take notes since there isn't a recipe for any of what I do.  Her daughter-in-law will be spending the week with her mother in Nebraska because she is having some serious neck surgery, so Dad is taking the week off to take care of the 3 kids & we'll see how much time goes into the real cooking part since that's the house where we're having the dinner. I don't have to get my house ready for company, the cooking part is a piece of cake!

Gloria, sorry you had such a bad start to the day. Hope your eyes are okay & you aren't coming down with something.

And now I am heading to bed. Tom & Callie are outside, mild tonight so they made their choice. Not sure where Tiger is, she goes off by herself for hours.  Sweet dreams to all & God Bless........Shirley

Good morning everyone, 21° and it really is still November still or have I slept till January? Already tired of the cold, first time I remember it bothering me. Now I know I am old. I kept putting a warm wet wash cloth on my eye yesterday and that helped more than the drops did. Seems fine this morning. I know I had dry eyes and funny how the tears can run from an eye. First time it bothered me is several years.

LLOYD  sorry your heart acted up on you. Take care of yourself. No more heavy work or stress. What you just went through in court was stressful for you. Now would be the time for you to find a smaller place and sell your farm. That is now too much work for you. I know you love it there with all the work you have done in a lifetime.

AMY  I remember hanging clothes on the line when they froze to the line before I even got a clothes pin on it. But if it was windy they dries so soft and smelled so good. Much better than a dryer.

PHYLLIS  you in your recliner yesterday and me laying on the couch most  of the day. We sure did not do much did we?

JANE  my son had to replace the stove in the apartment I had. His wife's brother even ruined that, My oldest granddaughter has moved in and turned the oven on to bake something and it doesn't work. It cost him a fortune to fix the apartment up. Even my fridge that I left there was so full of mold he had to throw it away. I just cannot imagine how in 5 years he ruined what was a great apartment, better than this one except for the stairs.

LLOYD  wow that was a lot of hours to sleep but y must have needed it or you would have been awake earlier.

SHIRLEY  my eye feels more normal this morning, thank God.

Have a good day.

Gloria the Mistake was selling the farm in the first place. we sold it with lifetime rights to live and control it for life. the good friend turned out not to be a true friend he has and still is trying to take it away from us. we went to court and got what was supposed to be for two mores. but he is not leaving us alone. has had his lawyer write us orders to vacate. he is not even honoring  what they drew up. so we will be back in court soon. we will just leave to god to fix it. the lawyer has several infractions lined up he has and will not honer that the court set up. the friend of his he tried to stick on us and did not do what they agreed to has a lot of his things in our lower level and will not remove and now has left with his trucking job. just more stress. they say the will not put him in jail just passable some fine. that dose not help or get the $$$ back we have already spent. so pray that god gets it fixed. Have a great day.

Lloyd

Sorry I've been neglecting all of you but I've been giving all my extra attention to a little black girl who doesn't understand where her friend has gone and why she doesn't come back.  She's been doing a lot of moping but she does love taking walks and we've done a lot of that.

Both my visiting daughters have gone back home.  Christy arrive home in Maryland safely and Cindy is spending the night with her daughter in Baltimore who will take her to the airport to catch an early plane back to Texas tomorrow.  We had some nice conversations and they, with my Lewisburg daughter gathered at my house a lot of the time.  That was nice because they knew I was concerned about Mickie.

I'll be off to bed soon and then tomorrow Mickie will be alone for 3 hours until my cleaning dynamo comes.  She watches her but from a distance when things are running.  And Tammy will feed her around noon so she'll like that.

I said I'd take Frankie to keep a Dr. appointment tomorrow afternoon but I think I'll just take Mickie along for the ride.  Frankie said it won't take long so we can sit in the car and wait for her and cuddle a bit and she won't have to stay home alone.  The pet store is nearby and pets are welcome there so maybe we'll pop in there for a loo around.

Now I have to stash some stuff before Tammy comes and then get to bed.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Jane, I was watching on the computer or TV about a cat that looked just like Tommy that loved to ride in a car, good story & all I could think of was... "but why does Tommy throw up at the thought of going anywhere???"  He is such a head case... I was watching him come across the pool area, after being outside for hours... I knew he had climbed over the fence and back in so wondered how he managed with his sore leg.... then I realized he wasn't limping at all until he got to the door & saw me. All of a sudden he was in great pain, hesitated to lift his leg to step over the sliding door track, limped like his leg was broken when I gave him a tone of sympathy..... talk about a faker!!!!  Our German Shepherd love to ride in the car, our favorite saying was, "if only the kids were as good.........."  Take Mickie & enjoy the company.

I used to take our blue jay for car rides and since Pooh loved McDonald's fries, when we pulled into the drive through Pooh would jump into his cage so I could open the window to order. Never opened the window till the cage door was locked "just in case".  Anyway, on one trip Pooh & I were alone in the station wagon, cage right behind the driver's seat with seats folded down... Pooh saw the golden arches & got ready to order but I didn't pull in or close the cage door. That bird was so upset it hopped on my shoulder & ran down my arm to the hand on the steering wheel, turned around to face me with the dardest look in it's eyes... like, "didn't you SEE those arches?"  I was laughing so hard I turned around & went back for french fries!

Nice the kids were around, they were raised with love & know how to return it... right?

Gloria, I soaked my knee tonight but only for an hour, just couldn't sit any longer. Then after washing the salt off, while it was warm from the heat pad, I rubbed in some Hempvanna & think it helped.. I'm disappointed with the doctors & all the techs running the tests but not telling me exactly what the tests & X-ray shows. My son & SIL's doctors both went into detail of what their show. I'm going to check with the doctor that sent me on this wild goose chase to see if he or anyone has actually looked at the test results or just calling it old age & let it go. I didn't injure it & never any joint problems until the pain under the knee & that wasn't anything to do with the joint. Been more than 3 weeks now & pain is no better, I'm just learning how to navigate without yelling.  Past my bedtime & I was up at 5:00 am. Sweet dreams & God Bless All!

Good morning everyone, 31° and feels damp, rain is in the forecast.  Most of today and tomorrow. It seems the dampness just penetrates the walls or I am sensitive to it, of course Mr. Art H Ritis does not help.

LLOYD  I remember when you talked about making that deal with your former friend. He sure did turn out not much of a friend and I pray things turn out right for you.

AMY  I would dislike having no power in here. Every thing is electric so would not even be able to have a cup of hot coffee. The only place with heat would be the lobby  and they do have a generator so the elevator would run. Guess they do have to have it running in case they have to call the rescue.

JANE  I know you are feeling sad about Annie bur how to explain it to Mickie is impossible.

SHIRLEY  the last dog we had  all she needed was to hear the keys rattle and she was at the door ready to go for a ride. Only with family though, she would not get into any other car. My CNA called me last week and said she did tear  something behind her knee. She is still o sick leave and has to go for another MRI this week. Close to 2 months now and I sure miss her. The ones they have been sending me leave much to be desired, don't think I would have any of them do any cooking.
My second son was here Saturday and I could tell his shoulders were sore, he has arthritis in both of them. I gave him the extra jar I had of the Hempvana and I hope it helps him as much as it has me.

Goodness every one else must have been busy yesterday. I think we miss all the ones that used to post here. Some just disappeared and other went home to God.
Just looked out and it has started to rain, will rain into tomorrow afternoon according to the forecast.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

No snow to deal with this morning. yippie! Need to get ready to take the van in. Washed it last night, couldn't have the fellow working on it when it was filthy!

Gloria, that is the same was with these two ,rattle the keys and they are at the door. They will have to stay home this morning but will pick them up on the way back when I take Kyle over for coffee. This is also going to be a first for Jesse as the cage has been taken out and he had better behave or it will go right back in.

Shirley, pets know how to get our sympathy and we are more than willing to oblige .

Jane, happy to see you had a good time with your family. Mickie will enjoy the time out with you and Frankie, two to make a fuss over her. :)

Lloyd, hope you got a good nights sleep.

Joy and Phyllis are missing. :(

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm here but only for a minute.  I have an early doctor's appointment so I can't tarry long.  It takes me much longer to get ready to leave the house so have to start early.

Dreary weekend here but no rain yesterday.  Gusty winds and overcast all day.  Rain predicted for this afternoon.

I agree with you, Shirley.  It is so hard to get answers from any of the medical people.  Very frustrating.  Hope you find out what is causing your knee pain.

Must get busy.  Take care, All.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Mickie is under the desk waiting with me for the boinger.  She got to lick the food spoon all by herself, both sides!  Yesterday, she went with me to my daughter's and me their Black Lab.  The two of them sniffed each other, Trip followed Mickie all over the house as she explored and then both of them hung around the kitchen while we ate supper.  I took her out in Cathy's yard and she had to explore all of it.  It's about 3 or more sizes bigger than ours and she loved being out.  It's all fenced so she could really explore.

SHIRLEY, I think you might be saying that Mickie is moping to attract attention and that's a possibility but I know she misses Annie because she's always looking over at Annie's little bed and then at me as if to say, "Where is she?"

I already mentioned that today is a work day (24 hours down and 24 to go).  It will be so nice not to HAVE to go anywhere.  I won't have to even think about the weather!  We have 8 minutes till the boinger so I better finish this and get moving.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Oh, NO, Jane, never even considered Mickie faking her feelings.... I do believe our fur babies grieve as much as humans. When LaurenKat went into Cas' room and found him dead she came out of there like a shot and as long as she lived, never went into that room again (more than 2 years). She did follow me around and beg to be held at first, but I didn't have any sitting time to spare. She was like a tiny ghost around here. She never did warm up to Tom & Tiger, kept them in line day & night. When we traveled she wouldn't eat the first 3 days until she had to use the litter box & then she was okay. She had a mind of her own.

Phyllis, not sure why they have avoided doing an MRI (cost?), my insurance covers everything. I'm really sad to think my son is facing more years with this type pain before they consider replacing his whole knees. He had the "orthoscopic" done and that didn't help at all, they tell him that replacement only lasts so long & he is too young (born in '63).

We are supposed to get to 70° today so will do a few things in the yard. Not going to pick up more leaves, so far I'm the only one on the whole street to have put out bags of leaves for trash service! A couple houses have had their fall clean up done by yard service & they take the leaves with them.... but as you know, leaves don't all come down at one time & this year quite a few trees are hanging onto their leaves longer. My sweet gum tree is full, brown but hanging onto it's leaves.

It's time to say "Good Night".  It's been a busy day and I'm tired and ready to hit the hay.

We (Mickie and I) still miss our Annie and I'm sure that will be a long time going but the memories are crowding back on me.  We did have a lot of good times together.

SHIRLEY, I have two dogwood trees in my yard both planted the same time both grown to the same size.  One is bare and the other has not begun to lose it's leaves.  Go figure!

Tomorrow, all I have planned is to pick up my granddaughter and take her to the dr.  I thought it was today but it's tomorrow.  She's coming home with me after and staying for supper.  I'm thinking spaghetti.  She loves my sauce.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone.

We had a wee bit of a snow fall during the night..just a waltz with the shovel.

Got my van back and not just the oil change but caliper and  front brakes. Now I am good to go.

Today is take Kyle to pick up  material for another trug and I am going to wash floors and fix a quilt. Not happy with the border so will reduce it and put on another one.

Jane, for the longest time Babe looked for Golden Girl, at feeding time Babe would go to check out GG 's dish which had been removed . In time all got back in the swing of things but the missing doesn't stop. I am still working on that part.

Phyliss, hope you got good results from your Dr.

Shirley, my friend needed her knees done and was told the same thing. She had to live with that until she got older, which she didn't as she got cancer and passed. I sometimes wonder if the Dr's experienced the pain of the patient, would they correct the problem faster?

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, 35° and a drizzle right now but heavier later, how nice, could be white stuff falling.

AMY  our last dog did't need to hear a rattle, just taking them out of a pocket was enough and she would be at the door waiting. On Thursday after supper my daughter would go to the bank to cash her pay check and the dog knew it and wold be at the door waiting for her. The tellers at the bank knew she had the dog with her so would give her a dog biscuit  and she wondered if that was why the dog wanted to go all the time.

PHYLLIS  like you it takes me a long time to do anything in the mornings. I like making my appointments for 1pm so I know I have time to get ready to go.

JANE  what is it now 10 or 11 more work days? You will be so happy when your time is your own at last.

LLOYD  have a great day.

SHIRLEY  my CNA was going for her second MRI for he left leg-knee. I hate the noise in that thing, the CT scan was much easier and faster. Last week when  the landscapers were her they sure had the blowers pushing all the leaves into one huge pile and then a truck backed up and the put a hose to the pile into the truck and sucked them all up. Glad they had a canvas over the load so they didn't end up all over.

AMY  it has been 7 years since my DIL called me and told me she had to put MY dog down and still every time I go to their house I look for her. When I went to their home she was my shadow, tried to get into my car so it was hard to get out, she tried getting on my lap but no room with the steering wheel and she would be talking to me the whole time.

Have a good day.

Doctor's visit yesterday went pretty well over all but she added 2 more medicines and wants me back in 3 months.  I'm pretty tired of keeping track of and taking all the medication every day but hoping the new ones will help with the migraines.  We'll give them a fair chance.....I guess.

It would be nice if we could have a little sunshine today to brighten things up but we'll take what we get.  I'm grateful that it will be a little warmer and hopefully, no rain.

I'm feeling a little down and don't want to inflict my mood on all of you here so I'll just wish everybody a good day and go get some breakfast.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for a long time but getting "attem" is the hard part.  Mickie and I went for a loooong walk so we got our legs stretched and our exercise in.  Then I did some stuff around here.  I just can't seem to get organized.

I had some bad news last night.  My cousin in Wisconsin who practically grew up with my sister and me has a very advanced stage of cancer and has been given 1 to 3 months to live.  I've been trying to call her for the past three weeks...ever since she called and I wasn't available.  She doesn't answer.  I would like to talk to her one more time.  I would appreciate a prayer or two that she doesn't suffer!

I have to get some lunch and get ready to go pick up Frankie for her appointment.  Then I'm stopping at the bank and maybe the local store for a couple things.

You all take good care of yourselves.  I need all the friends I can keep!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Both Kyle and I waltzed with the shovels  to clean the driveway which is now bare!

Must be my day for dancing as the vacuum cleaner commanded a dance as did the mop! Floors cleaned, neighbours dogs nails clipped and I finished off a cancer quilt. That is it ,no more tonight.

Jane I am sorry to hear of your cousins illness, prayers for her that she doesn't suffer.

Phyliss, hope you feel better. Can you get your meds in a blister pack ,would that help you?

Lloyd, LLOYD..LLOYD..where are you? Hope all is well with you and Nancy.

I'm off to Dreamland.  I got a head start on the sofa.  There must have been a lot of Zs hanging around in there because almost the minute I sat down, they grabbed me!  Now I'm hoping some of them are hanging out in the bed.

I hope everyone who feels bad will feel better tomorrow and everyone who feels good will continue to do so!  AMY, I hope you know that's Canadian Snow and it has to stay on that side of the border!

Frankie and I had a nice time this afternoon.  She told me that her mother asked her ho many unmarried 26 year olds she knows that like to "hang out" with their grandmothers.  I said, "how many do you know?"  And she said, "I'm the only one!"  I guess that makes me a pretty lucky old lady!

Now I'm off to bed.  I wish you all a peaceful sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Oh, my goodness!!! Amy, that is gorgeous!  I don't quilt but my mother had one she pieced together before she married and had the Salvation Army ladies hand quilt for her (it is/was a fund raising business with the group where Mother lived). Mother also made small quilts for her grands. My MIL used to quilt but as time went on would quilt together with sewing machine after piecing by hand. I've never seen one with so many pieces.... beautiful and do think it would be perfect hanging on a wall instead of on a bed. Thanks for posting, Bubble!

Unusually warm again today, but chance of rain & even T-storm this evening. Another cold front tomorrrow. We desperately need rain, fire danger warning with wind & dry leaves & grasses.

Tiger woke me up about 4:00 am wanting to go OUT.... Tom had been out all night and wanted IN, so I had breakfast & hope some zzzzzzzs are hiding in that bed yet. Tom ate his salmon and loves the morning when I open a new can. Sure has gone up in price since Cas started feeding these fur babies a spoonful for breakfast.

Hope everyone has a good day full of love and peace and throw in a little joy!  Shirley

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and pretty soon I'll get attem.

AMY, I posted my comment over in photos but I'll say it again.  That quilt is stunning!  I just about knocked my eyes out!  You should be very proud.  There are hours and hours of LOVE in that quilt!

I have some news to report.  Last night Mickie moved into Annie's sleeping spot on the bed sometime during the night.  I woke up this morning to find her there.  I think she might have given up on Annie's return.  And maybe the little extras will compensate in some way.  We'll see if she uses that spot tonight.  I hope so.

Today is a WM day After today is over it will be 32 down and 16 to go...hours that is!  I'm really beginning to look forward to the end.  When I don't get something done now, I tell myself, "I'll get to it after I retire."  It feels good!

I wish you all a lovely day!

It is supposed to be a sunny and warmer day today and I'm looking forward to it.  Sorry, I was a little down yesterday.  Today will be better, I think.

Amy, the Log Cabin quilt is beautiful and that is a favorite pattern of mine.  I'm amazed at your talent and how quickly you put these quilts together along with all the other duties you have to do.  My mother did piecing and had the quilting done by a woman in town.  I tried to make a quilt in a pattern called Kansas Trouble.  I found I had no skill and no patience so the quilt was never finished.  To my knowledge my mother made several pieced quilts but only made one appliqued quilt in a Water Lily pattern.  The hand quilting was done by a group of church women and it won several prizes.  It hangs on the wall in my family room.

Breakfast is calling.

that quilt is beautiful,Nancy has done a lot of that kind of work in the past. Most of them burnt when the old house burnt. we Have two quilting frames (large ones) and one of those small lap ones, but she gave the little one to our daughter. she now spends a lot of time coloring in adult coloring books. main thing is she is content while she is doing that and not pestering me. 44º and clear here today heading for 65º and cloudy the weather guesser is saying, Have a great day we are going to hair parlor today Nancy is going to get a perm. and I a haircut before I have to start paying dog tax.

I am back. Laundry is done and the bed is made up with fresh sheets. She is a talker, too, and I try to ignore it but she will say the same thing until I answer. It is still raining and I have not been outside all week. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny but only in the 30's so I will bundle up in layers and go out for awhile. Getting to have cabin fever. Had a phone call last evening from the lady next to me wondering if I had been sick because she had not seen me all week and did not hear me and others have asked her if she had seen me. Better get out before they call emergency for me. Most folks in here are like the ones in the SS when one of us is missing. I just about had time to dress this morning before CNA got here. I really dislike them coming so early in the mornings. Will be so happy when my regular CNA gets back with her hours from 12 to 2. After 2 years at than time I can have my coffee and breakfast in peace and quiet while being in the SS. I did manage 1 cup of coffee while she was here and had my breakfast after she left at almost noon time.

JANE  only a few more days to go and your life will belong to you at last.

PHYLLIS  so many times I tried to either crochet or knit  a Log Cabin afghan and always ended it tearing it apart. Did you ever make one?

WOW no one posted since I did this morning. Joy is still absent, hope she is OK.

Take care every one.
Have a good rest of the day.

PHYLLIS, I'm glad to hear you're feeling better today.  Cherish that quilt on your wall.

I'll check back in later to see what everyfriend is up to.

I had too much to say while ago to stop & write, had to make a fast run to the store & now all I can think about is a NAP!  It is drizzling out so all 3 cats wanted to check it out.  Tom is sitting on the door step but doesn't want in and doesn't want me to get far from the door in case he changes his mind.

Jane, sad to watch the pets realize their buddy isn't going to come home again.... they understand more than we know and I am sure she is as concerned for you as you are for her.

Phyllis, glad today looks a little brighter... sometimes sadness just sets in....so ((((hugs)))). This is really a gray day in KS, trees are bare or half bare and everything brown & gray. My rain gauge is still out, not supposed to freeze tonight & I miss not knowing how much because it's so rare!

I bought my 2 turkeys today, along with all those other fixins I need. This year the whole turkey was cheaper than buying just a breast for putting with the noodles and the 1 gr-son that loves drumsticks will get a couple to take home. I pulled out the heavy duty cord to plug the RV in, turned on the frig & freezer & put those turkeys right in. Doubt if they thaw at all before it's down below freezing inside, as cold as it was already. OH, I forgot to get the Reams noodles! I think 3 of the 16 oz packages should be enough. I have a stock pot so big I need to stand on the Coleman step stool to look down inside.

Gloria, I hope your shoulder is not as constant pain as this darn knee. I've never had anything linger this long, like an abscessed tooth... even when not walking it aches & no matter how I pack pillows under & around, hurts all night. Don't remember who mentioned that "if a doctor had this for sure he'd find a cure!"  I can't believe my son has been battling this pain for more than 3 years... had had the orthoscopic on one knee but the doctor doesn't think it is bad enough to do a replacement since "they only last so long..." And he still loves to hike out in the mountains. He said he has a "basket full of different style braces for his knee but nothing really helps". The cold really makes it ache worse... like you, takes the pleasure out of winter!  Are we really THAT old???

I don't mind going when they first open but not in the middle of the afternoon. Weather was good, had a bit of a worry when it started to spit rain but it soon stopped.

Bubble, thank you for posting the photo for me.

Shirley, Jane ,Gloria, Phyliss and Lloyd thank you. I must admit it was fun doing it. Phyliss you have me curious and I will look up that pattern. :)

I just finished cleaning out my kitchen freezer and taking inventory.  I now have two shelves free for the candy pans and I can start making that tomorrow.  I told Frankie that from now until Christmas when she chooses to "hang out" with her Grammy, she's going to be spreading crackers and minding the chocolate.  She said that's fine because then she'll know how I make it and she'll be able to make some herself some day.  Makes me feel better that all this work can continue.

Tomorrow is a stay-home day and the first thing I'm going to do is mix the coconut centers for the coconut cups.  Frankie can start rolling balls for me.  That's a tedious chore when you sit here doing it all along.  At least this time there might just be someone to talk to.

I have to look up the boxes that I saw on line last summer and didn't order because there was lots of time.  Where did it go.

SHIRLEY, you're right that they know more of what's happening than we realize.  Mickie has stuck to me like glue and I'm sure it's not just because she needs me.  I think she knows I need her too.  And she's right!

I'm off now to check some other stuff on line.  Took a nice nap this afternoon.  The couch was overloaded with zzzzzs because I haven't been using them lately.  Every time I think I'll take a nap, I think of something that I need to do first.

Just in case, I'll wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, 31° 2:20 am and here I am with my first cup of coffee still too hot to even sip yet.

SHIRLEY  my shoulder hurts at times but it is my back that kills me with all the rain we have had this week. The rain finally stopped sometime last night and the walk is dry. The tops and windows on the cars all have ice on them, not frost either. Just checked the weather online and it will get into the mid 40's today and will have sun. Maybe when I get dressed I will put the ole geemagochees on so I can get out and enjoy some fresh air. I am so glad I no longer make big family meals. Of course my family is no where as big as yours. Ahh that first mouthful of coffee tastes great. Will have to wait to see if the cold gets to my back this winter, I know the dampness sure does, even in the house.

AMY  when my daughter lived in San Diego my SIL and her would go to Costco early on Saturday morning about once a month. My SIL would time it that the got there just as the doors opened. They would shop and be out of there before it got too crowded. No Costco where they are in Arizona but the go to a Sam's club quite a way from them twice a year and really stock up. No big crowds like in Ca. I did spend a time looking at the quilt yesterday and looking at the colors, some so small I doubt if I would be able to handle them and the border, too. I would like to copy it and send to my daughter. With all her sewing and craft work she has never tried a quilt, surprising. I would like to ask her if would like to try something like that. I can just hear her. NO WAY would take too many years to finish. How long did it take you? How did you keep all the different sizes together and the colors separated? Nosey aren't I? Fascinates me how you did it. Hope you slept good last night.

JANE  would be wonderful if one of your granddaughters could carry on making all your Christmas goodies. No one in my family is interested in making the goodies I made but they sure enjoyed eating them. I just cannot make them anymore and I miss some of them. Had my long time CNA make a batch of fudge. I had the recipe in front of her and sat on my rollator. Told her to check for it to come to a full boil and turn the heat down.  She did that and kept stirring. Only thing was she took the  air bubbles for a boil so that fudge never got firm. I made what the lady who gave me the recipe called coconut balls, made with dates and ground nuts, cooked until thickened and then rolled into balls and then rolled in coconut. Had to work fast before the filling got cold.

LLOYD  hope your busy day was a good day for you and Nancy.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem already.  Mickie's been out and took care of business and I'm having my first cup of coffee while I visit with friends.  All's ready to mix the coconut centers for the coconut cups.  Looks like Frankie will be rolling lots of balls if she comes over today.  I have the work spot ready for that and if she wants to, she can watch TV from there or the dipping place is close enough that we can talk.  I usually play Christmas music while I work alone.  It puts me in the mood.

I also have some saltines ready to be spread with PB for dipping.  If she'd rather, she can co that.

GLORIA, our night time temps were in the low 30s also but we're supposed to have 50 degrees this afternoon.  Sounds good to me!

I slept better last night than I have in ages.  I had a nice nap in the late afternoon, then got to bed around 11:30 and woke up at 6.  I feel better than I have in days.  Mickie is asleep on my feet!

When the boinger goes off, we'll have breakfast and then we'll get busy.

I forgot to tell you, since Frankie is the one responsible for all the PB, coconut, and other cups, it's only right that she should be the one to carry on the tradition.  The first time I made them was around Easter when she was about 12.  Everyone liked them and I said "I guess I'll have to make them next Easter, too."  As she picked up another coconut one Frankie said, "NOOOOO! You'll have to make them for The Fourth of July...and the first day of school...and Halloween....and Christmas...and my birthday....and New Year's Day and whenever you feel like it in between."  Everyone in the room agreed with her!  And I've made them ever since but not for ALL those holidays.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

I'm up, too, but my thinker isn't.  Can't seem to get my brain together this morning.  Was shocked when I realized that it is grocery day....AGAIN...how can that be?  Just think how much time, and money, we would all have if we didn't have to eat.

Amy, if you looked up the Kansas Troubles pattern you can see why it was a bad choice for a new quilter.  I had a terrible time matching all those points and finally gave up.  I never tried quilting again except to make a small hot pad in the Log Cabin pattern.  It was hand stitched and not done very well, I must admit, but I still have it and still use it.

I'm off to get some breakfast and make a grocery list.

I'm not awake, or at least I can't see well enough yet to write much.

Gloria, this might be more than your daughter would like to tackle, but why don't you suggest to her that she make a painting of the quilt.  As I remember, she puts a lot into detail in a painting and the quilt would certainly be a challenge.

I did not  see rain now, but it has rained overnight and we are to  have rain all day.  I don't think we need it.  I have nothing scheduled so I really don't care.

Tom will have to tell me what I have committed to in the next week or so.  I know this Sunday he, Dot and I will go to New Beginnings restaurant to celebrate Norm's life; he died 24 Nov 2015.  Thursday Tom and I will have T-day dinner with his friend, Robin.  We will not be with family so Sunday after that, we will go to Holland to have a dinner with James, Alicia and the twins.  I am going to see if a turkey breast is available because we want some leftovers and expect none from Robin's dinner (too many people).

There, blood work done and over with. If you go in early you may get lucky and be the first one in which Kyle was :)

Phyliss, my gosh what a pattern to tackle first!! No wonder you didn't finish it.  I have done a pin wheel and thought that was no fun matching the seams but tis in the past now!

Jane, I am going to do your saltines  today then tomorrow will dip them in the chocolate. Have fun with Frankie, she may have to taste test some ,you know quality control :)

Lloyd, I think I have you pegged right with saying you would give the shirt off your back to anyone and to have this problem on you and Nancy is not nice.  This is the day and age where a hand shake or a persons word doesn't mean anything  anymore.

MaryAnn for out TG we just bought a stuffed turkey breast and I was surprised at how good it was! Really enjoyed making sandwiches out of the sliced meat.

Gloria, next time I  go it will be as soon as they open their doors. I do that  here with the grocery stores ,especially in the summer when they are packed liked sardines with tourists.

Hope Joy is ok...

Better get my work done..

I've been up early, took care of cats & had myself bacon, egg & 2 pieces of toast along with a couple mugs of coffee. Back to bed for a couple more house of sleep... finally have 4 hours & 53 min sleep (so Fitbit tells me). I get "fractured" sleep with cats wanting in & out. When winter hits I will get sound sleep, I hope.

Mary Ann, I didn't realize/remember what day Norm died. This time of year I always feel a little down and will remember why. My mother was in the hospital from Sept until she died on Nov.25, 1988. The doctor in that small town punctured her lung when putting in a pacemaker, her lung deflated & was sometime in Oct they released her to go home the same day they took her off oxygen without checking to see she could breathe on her own.  My sister took her home and left Mom & Dad for the night (she lived 30 miles away), but when she got back the next morning Mother was blue so rushed back to hospital. A whole tragic nightmare for all but it was a night nurse that gave her a shot for pain that destroyed her kidneys and she died 11 days later because she had no veins left to use for dialysis. My sister insisted that our Dad couldn't stand if we wanted an investigation of all the mishaps that took place, to think she died because of their incompetence, but sure taught me that I need to take charge of MY health. Mother had asked/begged all of us to see that she was not given pain meds unless she asked for them. That is what the nurse did. Anyway, I know you have a lifetime of memories with Norm and we never get over that fleeting thought of wanting to tell them something, either funny or "do you remember".  Hugs to you all week.

Phyllis, I'm also up but brain still hiding out. Just got the newsletter from the little town where my parents grew up and one clip was telling about the predictions for winter, cutting persimmon seeds in half. I recall doing this & finding a spoon, fork or knife shapped image inside. I never knew about the weather prediction: knife means a cold & cutting wind, the fork means a mild winter, but the spoon means lots of snow. People may smile at this or the fact lots of "woolly worms also predicts what type winter weather.... and so far all persimmon seeds in central MO are saying lots of snow for this season.

And before I go off on another thought, better get this old body in motion, lunch time and nothing to show for the day so far. Gloria, every painful step I take I do think of you...(and now back instead of shoulder}. :tissue:

Amy, thanks for the suggestion of a stuffed turkey breast.  I like dressing/stuffing so that would be ideal for me. Did you get it at a meat market or supermarket?

Shirley, I had never heard that about persimmon seeds, but there's a lot I have not heard of.  I know about the woolly caterpillar and, don't laugh, Kendrick seems to have more/heavier fur than usual and I wonder if he is predicting the weather.

What a horrible thing to have happened to your mother, Shirley.  Norm had a relatively quiet death, but we were not there with him.  How he knew, but he told his roommate that he was dying.  About 2:30 am Pilgrim Manor called Tom, telling him his dad was not responding and at 3:30 they called Tom to tell him his dad had died.  Dot did not have a phone in the bedroom, so did not hear theirs when they called; that is why they called Tom.  Dot now has a phone in her bedroom!

Mary Ann, I bought the stuffed turkey breast at the supermarket and would do so again. I remember the times I would cook a 30 lb turkey for TG and Christmas and lucky enough to have some leftover for hot turkey sandwiches or soup.

Shirley, I put a woolly bear over in the bushes away from the dogs big feet and he showed a wide band of brown compared to the black . Weather folks are saying different for this winter so we shall see.
Here's the legend: The Woolly Bear caterpillar has 13 distinct segments of either rusty brown or black. The wider the rusty brown sections (or the more brown segments there are), the milder the coming winter will be. The more black there is, the more severe the winter.

Hahahaha.... and we all live in different parts of North America and go by the same woolly caterpillar.

I have been trying to move my little Yamaha Chappie from the middle of the garage (between "Little Red" Encore and son's fold down camper) as well as the new 'e-RadBike that I've only been on a couple times because so hot & now the bum leg..... Anyway, have a storage building out back that houses a John Deere lawn tractor & lots of yard stuff I haven't disposed of yet... made room for Yamaha so I can have room for snow blower in the garage like other years. I didn't have the Rad bike then so why the squeeze. I get myself into more trouble with these ideas..... Got gates unlocked & walked Yamaha to the back yard but can't get it into the building, came in to check on rain predictions but stopped here first & always glad for a breather. I really am tired, tried so hard to push that Yamaha over the door threshold but couldn't make it, one time I really have to call son & yell for help. If I had just thought of this yesterday, #2 son stopped by to visit for a couple hours last night & could have easily moved it in for me. Wahhhhhhhhhh  Top all that off & couldn't find the keys to the RV. I had them yesterday when I put the turkeys in the RV freezer & for sure had them to lock it after.... I never put keys to anything except in one drawer by the coffee pot. Not there. After all said & done, brain kicked in & I checked my purse since I had just come from the store with those turkeys.... and after stewing for hours, there they were, in my purse! I think my brain needs a rest... a shower & maybe something good to eat, I forgot to eat lunch. Still need to get that Yamaha taken care of but will worry about it after taking care of me.  Dreary looking day here. Cats already looking at me like it's time for their afternoon/evening meal. Hi Everyfriend!  Frankie didn't stay as long as I thought she would but we got about half the pb saltines done.  She did eat a few, some plain crackers, some with pb, and some all finished.

She had to go to work at 2 so we didn't have a lot of time.  Her doggie stayed here to keep Mickie company and he's a bit of a beggar!  He made me miss Annie a bit more today because she was the real honest-to-goodness beggar in this family.  Mickie just waits patiently.

Now I'm ready to relax a bit.  Frankie will be by shortly after 7 to pick up Cooper and he's ready to be picked up.  He misses his mommy but Mickie sure likes having him around.

I'm going in and semi-collapse on the sofa until after Frankie comes and goes and then I'll do a real collapse!  Enjoy the rest of your day everyfriend!

Good evening.  Just checking in as I have not been here for a few days.  Nothing wrong,  just being lazy.

Jane, all your candy making sure sounds so good. I sure wish I had your energy.  I might make up some of the PN butter ones, but I don't think I will be making  my usual cookies. I just can't stand very long, and the ones I make are out of the cookie gun. It is hard to get the leverage you need to guide the cookie gun in the right direction if I am sitting down.  I remember last year I made up the dough ahead of time and only made up a couple pans each day for about a week.  Not sure if I can do that this year.  I do have a new recipe for some sugar cookies that I think I could do sitting down.  You make up balls and flatten them with a glass.  I might try a few of those. I know my family misses all the cookies that I used to make.

And, unfortunately, I don't have any daughters to help and neither of my DIL are into any kind of baking.  My one son has offered, but he is a big guy and my kitchen is not that big for both of us to work together.

I hope everyone is having a good evening/

Joy

Good morning everyone.

The sound of high winds woke me this morning. To think I could have slept in but didn't. Hubby has to pick up his blister packs this morning and then home to work about. Just let the dogs out and most of our snow has gone!

Joy, happy to read you are ok. I can remember doing a lot of baking at one time but have cut drastically back. I do want to make shortbread cookies this year.

Jane, you managed to get a lot more done than I did. Maybe today will be the pb ones.???

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm beginning to find out whoit was who got us up early every morning.  The last three mornings, I've awakened to the alarm and Annie's waking ALWAYS preceded the alarm.

I have my coffee and Mickie's had her pill and we're waiting for the boinger.  I think I'll go get my shower when I finish this and before the boinger.

LLOYD, AMY has given you some good advice!  We all need to avoid the stress.  I'm one to tell you for sure that it's one of the things that raises our blood pressure.  And that can't be good for YOU!  We need you to be here so just try to relax.  Now, take a deep breath....let it out slowly.  Do that whenever you feel stress coming on.  In my case, I've found that singing eases the stress.  I can't sing and no one wants to hear it but I do it when I feel stressed.  I also do it when I feel happy.  Try it!  What's your favorite hymn!  Keep it in mind and whenever you feel stressed, sing it or hum it!

I just got my one and only candy order from my niece.  She's been giving it to friends and co workers for so many years now that she can't quit.  She always get 12 bags of pb saltines and it doesn't cost her a penny.  Her husband is a shift manager at their local Starbucks and we do an exchange for 5 bags of their Holiday Blend which I give to my kids for Christmas.  I also keep one for myself.

I guess I better get on my horse and get moving or I won't be ready when the boinger goes off.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

I never made it to the grocery yesterday so that is a must do for today.  The food supply is getting dangerously low around here.  We are about out of coffee pods and that cannot be allowed in this house!  :o

Rain predicted for later in the day and more for tomorrow.  Raleigh's Christmas Parade will be a wet one, I'm afraid.

If I make anything at all for Christmas it will be the Christmas Crack (Jane's Chocolate Saltines).  I'd like to make some peanut brittle but I worry about damage to teeth for either, or both, David and me.  I'll think about it.  As for Thanksgiving, we are not turkey eaters so I have a rack of pork ribs in the freezer and some sweet potatoes to go with it for Thxg. dinner.  Ill fix it in the Crock Pot with some tasty Bar-be-que sauce.  Non-traditional, I know, but it is what we prefer.  After all, we are people who also like having a big pot of Chili with all of the trimmings as our Christmas dinner.  What we like is more important to us than "tradition".

Must get going.

Good morning.  Supposed to rain later, but right now the sun is trying to make an appearance.

Jane, when you make the PN butter cookies, do you use Saltine crackers or the Ritz crackers?  I have made the Faux Mint Cookies like the Girl Scouts sell, but I used Ritz crackers for those.   And, only 1 layer dipped in the melted chochlate with some mint flavoring.  I might try the ones like you make.  I can do them sitting down.

I have been up a while, had breakfast and taken my medicine.  So, I think I will read for a little while.

My son and DIL are in the air right now on their way home from seeing the Northern Lights. They get into Newark, N.J. later this morning, and then have to get a train back to the Baltimore airport and then they are about 1/2 hour from home.  They e-mailed me a picture showing the Northern Lights, and although it was pretty, not pretty enough for me to even want to take that long trip.  Even if I were able to go,  it wouldn't have been on my "have to go there" list.

Hope everyone has a pleasant day.

Joy

Good morning everyone, no one coming today and I woke early. I do have the yearly visit from the nurse from my insurance but that is at 1pm so have time. I am so disgusted with the cna I have been getting I am going call the office when they open and complain. She did it yesterday. She dry mopped the floors and I had my slipper stretching out from under the bed. Well she pushed them under and toward the wall. I managed to get one out and got down on right knee to reach for it and I never should have done that. Tried with all my strength to get up and could not. I did not fall and I didn't want to pull the cord for the rescue truck. I pushed myself backwards with my feet, managed to get the phone off my desk and call my son.  OK then I had to get to the door to unlock it and get back to the phone to release the downstairs door for him to get into the building. My son go t here fast and got me on my feet in no time. Then wanted  to make sure I did not fall. All I wanted to do was lay on the couch. All I can say is with all that sliding around on this wood floor my tail bone is sore. Glad I have t his air cushion to sit on or I would not be able to sit.
If that cna is here Monday she will get an earful from me. That was my day yesterday, I know, boring.

JANE  it warmed up here yesterday and the sun felt so good. If I could still do anything I would ask you for your coconut cups recipe. Seems like the younger generations are not into making those homemade goodies.

Sorry I did not reply to anyone but even with this air cushion  to sit on the tail bone is hollering it is time to get off of it, so better pay attention.

Have a good day.

Gloria, I'd complain too if a CNA put me to so much trouble retrieving a slipper.  It seems no one is listening to you when you tell them what you want.

So far today my eyes aren't working as they should.  I can read everyone's posts, but if they're not bold, it is very hard.  Some days are better than others.

You ladies make me hungry reading about your cookie making.  I used to do some special holiday baking but took most of it to work.  I know if I were to bake something, I'd eat it and be my own best customer.  It's better that I read about it than taste test.

I don't read all of the comics that are available, but today Arlo and Janis was the only one who mentioned today as being the date of Kennedy's death.

Joy, it was the next thing to being there, but a couple of times when i visited Tom when he lived in Petoskey, there were no lights to interfere and we could see the Northern Lights.  But I would not travel far to see them, either.

Phyllis, you have some interesting holiday traditions.  I'm afraid I am a "turkey on Thanksgiving" person but mainly for the leftovers.  Going to Tom's friend's for the day, we will have an untraditional meal (chicken and other things) but we will have a more traditional meal on Sunday when we meet with Tom's son and family.  To each his own!

Jane, I don't know where I've been all these years of reading about your pb/choc/saltines.... but would you tell me exactly what kind of saltines, what kind of chocolate & what kind of peanut butter, PLEASE?  My great grands are so limited with what Mom & Dad considers good for them in sweets and think that may be something they wouldn't object to. I fix the peanut butter & rice krispy stuff (not with marshmellow cream) but I'd like to come up with something different.

Gloria, must have been OUR day to call for help, I also got myself in a pickle & had to have son come to the rescue, but I think I would have just sat and cried at your predicament. I've had to scoot myself around on the floor with this knee, just can't use it for leverage & my head knows the pain is so bad I'm afraid I'll pass out... and I'm really not a sissy. Comes a time when we CAN'T and we just CAN'T. Give 'em hell, Harry......<smile>

Amy, shortbread cookies are my absolute favorite but I don't think my mother ever made them or that I knew anyone that did. I am impressed.... but I will go buy my Lorna Doones and be satisfied, not going to take on any more projects that are over my head. Tell me about them, anyway.  ;)

Mary Ann, one person on the all news radio mentioned today is the date Kennedy was shot. Bet every single one of us can think back to the exact moment we heard that news.

Joy, to be honest, there's a lot of things I used to want to do but now think way too much trouble. I still dream of driving to Alaska and seeing every special site along the way, but know that is out of the question. I did see the Northern lights one year when freak weather let them show in central Missouri. Was just a kid but since all the adults were oohing and ahhhing over the flickers of green & blue floating across the night sky, I knew it was something special to remember.

Phyllis, I also have to make a grocery run this morning (and morning is about gone).... advertised special of butter for $1.99 a pound with limit of 5.... and I'm a butter user so that's a bargain. Main reason is I forgot to get the Reams noodles for Thanksgiving & that's even more important than the turkey with my gang. The stock pot I cook the turkey & noodles in is so tall I have to use my Coleman step stool to stir. Honestly! Makes enough for an army but every one hopes there is enough left over so they can take home ONE meal of them.

Lloyd, several times over the years I've had to stand my ground and tell "service" people (electric company when I was sure their transformer wasn't powerful enough for the area, another time a termite company when we found damage they had missed supposedly checked on a house we bought... & even a couple other times.. and told them I was willing to "take it public and let the public decide if I was right or not."  I was that sure I was right and by golly, each time they backed off and decided they knew I was going to win that battle and fixed the problems. I'm sorry you have to spend for a lawyer & hope a judge agrees with you, but understand there are times when people don't see things the way we do and we have to stand our ground. I'm another stubborn old Missouri mule so know how you feel. Hugs to you & Nancy.

Phyllis, did I ever mention to you that I have a niece that lives in your area, now retired but a Dr of geriatric medicine, at one time handled medicine for several nursing homes & then went into business for herself. I can't think of her married name but last I heard she was still there. This is another very gray day in Kansas... wind blowing so the chill goes right through clothes. Got to get out, not going to get better until the week end. We had a tad of drizzle but not enough to save plants so will have to drag out a hose to water a few plants or they won't survive the winter.

Can't stall any longer so will hit the road. Just think, St.Nick will soon be here.  We got to put up our stockings with a letter to Santa on St.Nick's Day... it was kind of a "movable" holiday depending on if we were going to visit grandparents or something. Either the night before or night of (Dec 5/6)... thanks to a half French & German grandfather. The county my parents grew up in was French & German so holidays were celebrated with gusto!  The youngest of my 3 brothers told me, or said, "you really don't believe in St.Nick, do you?" as I was writing my letter at 6 years old....( of course I said I knew he wasn't REAL.... but I didn't really want him to confirm that suspicion.)

Mary Ann, will make this bold today.... if I remember right, Gloria prefers not bold & I don't know how it comes out with purple.  Shirley

Shirley, thanks for the BOLD but yours has always been very readable.  I can read Gloria's OK too, possibly of the color, but also because of the size print.  Really the only one I can't read is Lloyd's.  I do think the color helps a lot.

I don't think we knew of St Nick's Day, but we did know of Norm's birthday, Dec 6.  As I've said, Tom, Dot and I are going to celebrate his life on Sunday, the fourth year that he has not been with us.  Fall seems to account for several family deaths and I won't go into those because none of them were alive when I started posting here.  I can think of five from late September until late November.

I'm taking a layered salad for Thanksgiving dinner and it's been so many years since I made one, I've almost forgotten how.  I want Tom to get the ingredients (fresh) the first of the week so I can make it Wednesday to let the flavors meld.  I remember that Tom's FIL and Norm wanted to take any remains home with them.  I have a list for Tom.

I remember sliding off my bed (not fall, but slide) and I laid on the floor for 45 minutes, calling to Tom who was downstairs.  It was a narrow space and I could not get a grip on anything to turn over to crawl.  Finally I scootched down far enough that I could reach a phone (that I usually do not have there) and could call Tom.  When he saw who was calling, he raced upstairs.  I don't think I panicked, but I was frustrated by his not hearing me.  It turned out he had earphones on and heard nothing else.

Isn't it lovely being older?  The Golden Years?  Bah!  Rust Years!

So far all I have done is 8 apricot fruitcakes.....cleaned up a bit.....did some laundry and that is it.

Shirley I made Janies pb saltines last year and they are a MUST for this year. They are so good!!

Mary Ann ,Kyle fell between the bed and the wall and he also couldn't get up. Had a dickens of a time but we managed. He has fallen 3 times in the past twice in the house and once on the front lawn.

Better go check my cakes.

Amy, my fall was similar to Kyle's except my "wall" was a piece of furniture.  But if there is no room to maneuver, it doesn't matter.  Tom knew how to get me up.  He's so afraid that I will fall anyway so I am extra cautious and don't take chances.  I do not want him coming home to find me at the bottom of the steps; I don't go downstairs!

Reading about foods here makes me hungry and I'm going to see what I can find to eat.

Good evening from Rancho Cordova California where Nana and GrandBob have been doing absolutely nothing other than playing with Jonah❣️ Oh my, what a delight he is!  He is running all over the house and is such a busy boy.  Our time here has passed so quickly and it is going to be very hard to leave here on Sunday😩😢

Today was Michele's last radiation treatment, however she had a MRI done and sadly there is something more seen in it.  I do not know any details right now, but she will need more treatments and therefore more prayers are needed please! 😩😢🙏🙏 Tomorrow she and the family will be flying to Florida to meet up with good friends from Lake Oswego OR at Disney World where they will spend Thanksgiving week.

I wish you all a good night of rest and pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone..

Tis a chilly one out there this morning 24°F. Laundry day today and may get the big freezer cleaned out...we shall see. I am running out of room to put the cakes and need to do cookies yet too.

Gloria, I don't blame you...she is not a thoughtful worker. Do you have one of those gadgets that is a long rod with a gripper on the end? A reacher they are called

 https://www.parentgiving.com/shop/reachers-855/c/

Not that may have not been long enough but a mop/broom might be. You will be so happy when your girl gets back!!

Jane, have fun with Cathy at the Amish store!

Jenny, Prayers continue for Michele, she is such a fighter and has done well with the treatments. Jonah sounds like a cutie!! Enjoy your time with him .

Better get the laundry in the washer.....seems it won't jump in there on its own. :(

Enjoy your day everyone

We're back from the Amish store and I got everything I need to spend an afternoon working on candy.  As soon as I get something in my tummy, I'll be digging in.

I hope you all have a lovely day!

Laundry blowin on the line and a double batch of yogurt in the instant pot. Every time I say I am going to do Jane's pb treats I get side tracked....doesn't take much anymore either! Just maybe...

Good Morning,

I see all you "Domestic Doras" are busily going about your usual culinary activities.  :smitten:  I have ingredients for Orange Marmalade bread out on the counter and am hoping I'll be inspired to "do something with them" some time today.  :)

Jenny, so happy you've had such a good time with Jonah and praying for Michelle and her family.

Gloria, so sorry you're having issues with the...is it the CNA?....    I've begun putting my cell phone on the floor if I have to use the step stool to reach something; figure that's where I'll end up if I fall and can't reach the counter. Should do the same thing if I need to get down, too.

Was expecting overnight company as they went from their home in Kansas to Houston for Thanksgiving with their son.  However, the son told them the flu is rampant in Houston and they decided not to go.

I had planned ham/sweet potatoes in the slow cooker so invited son/dil to dinner, instead.  Sent most of the left-overs home with them.  Son planned to take the ham for use while he/brother/nephew are deer hunting this weekend.

The December calendar is filling up fast!  Have a few medical maintenance appointments on there but most are fun activities.  Sure going to change my "leisurely lifestyle" for a while.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Jenny, I've been in to read 3 times already this morning and was positive I posted, but don't see it so will say again how sorry I am that Michele and family (includes you & Bob) have yet another saddness to face during these holidays. My heart aches for all of you having to carry this awful dread. Prayers, begging God to have mercy... will go on.

I am out of stalling time for getting this place shaped up. Have so many loads of laundry to get done will wear that machine out before it's a year old. I put sheets over beds & floors, even the couch in the family room, so cat fur can be taken care of easier than replacing everything! All due a shake & to the washer. Just talking about it doesn't get the job done, right?

We have bright sun but my weather warning thingy is flashing something, wind/rain/snow?  I have not heard forecast.

Shirley, shortbread cookies are also my favourite cookie and I can see why we don't bake them all year round instead of just Christmas.

Jane, I still didn't get the saltines done...I washed, made yogurt and made cherry cakes and ran out of steam. I DID nip into one of your Christmas cakes..I know I should leave them be for a while but....oh my is it good. Maybe I should hide the rest of the Christmas cakes or I won't have any for Christmas!!

AMY, I believe in the "Eat as you go" method of preparing for Christmas.  If we don't taste this stuff how do we know if it's fit to serve to our guests or give to our friends?  We have a duty to check it out!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I finished my Niece's orders so I can deliver them to my Grandniece at her college when the opportunity strikes.  They are returning her to school after Thanksgiving but I'm not sure when.  They are supposed to let me know and they are bringing my coffee when they bring her.  I'll meet them there with Suzi's order.  Then before they pick her up for Christmas, I'll try to get all the Christmas stuff for my sister and brother and their family ready to go with them.  I always relax a little once I have that on the way and my box on the way to Texas.  And this year, I have to have 2 for Texas (one granddaughter is coming for Thanksgiving but not Christmas, and I need to get one off to Oklahoma for Granddaughter and her family. All that needs to be ready by the beginning of the second week of Dec.  I guess I better get moving.  I don't seem to have the same zap I used to have but maybe that will adjust after next week.  I have ONLY 12 more hours to go at WM and then I'm FREE!

I'm going to try to get to bed early tonight.  Then after church tomorrow, I can dig in and maybe finish the saltines.  After I get the ones dipped that are already spread, I should be almost finished.  I'd like to do that tomorrow and get them bagged, counted and tucked away so I can begin the pb and coconut cups.  They're already mixed but the putting together is a bit time consuming.  Maybe Frankie will be around to roll balls for me.

JENNY, I forgot to say that Michele and all her extended family are constantly in my prayers.  I know I told you before that I have added Michele and family to our church prayer list so all of you are getting about 200 or so extra prayers every week!  Mine are daily!  My heart is with all of you!

And now I wish Everyfriend a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

well Nancy has already gone to bed, I am as soon as I get this post put together and posted I am going to join her. I will see how things go in court Monday then see If I feel like Talking about it. I just want to leave it in Gods Hands and hope he feels like we are right and swings things in our favor. pray as we do for it to settle in his desire and we are as we think we are right. we are both stressed out having to fight for what is Morley ours. until we let bob con us in to selling it to him with life time rights, that he has broken and trying to get us forced out. until we did that no one has owned except family form government to date. good night and sweet dreams.

This is a quick "Good Morning Everyfriend".  I have to get ready for church before the boinger goes off or I won't make it.

We're having a bit of snow overnight and into the morning here.  So far, it's not laying even on my car which sat out all night.  Thank goodness the temps are above freezing now.

LOYD, when I go to church this morning I'm going to add you and Nancy to the prayer list.  Tat will give more prayers to God's ears this morning.  Mine are always with you!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning everyone..

To dark to see what the day may be like, I know rain and or snow was forecast  for today. A day of rest here today, just have to put the yogurt away in containers after I bottle the whey.

Jane, I like that thought and will definitely abide by it.  Wow only 12 hours and then freedom!! You will miss the customers more than the work.

Lloyd, prayers that it will all work out in your favour. I do believe in karma and Bob will pay dearly for what he is doing to you and Nancy.

Gloria and Joy... where are you??

Think I need another cup of tea before I get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Well!  After taking Mickie for a short walk and assessing the situation, I opted out of going anywhere today.  The snow has definitely begun to lay and it's still coming down.  Odd thing though...it really doesn't look like Pennsylvania snow. It looks a lot like Canadian Snow but I'm sure I told AMY to keep that stuff on her side of the border.  I guess she's falling down on the job.  Too busy inside!

Good morning everyone, raining again. I did no t check much weather yesterday so was surprised when I pulled up the shades. I should have known because I had a time getting out of bed this morning but made it. At least it is above freezing but so glad I can stay inside. I have not been out since Thursday and that is unusual for me. Even in freezing winter I would go out almost every day in the  5+ years I have been here, even if it was to sit on the porch.

AMY  I have one of those "grabbers" but was so mad at  the time I never thought about it. If she is here tomorrow she will get an earful from me.

LLOYD  I do have a flip phone but was in the kitchen charging. I usually have it is a side pocket in my rollator.

JANE  how about sharing some of your energy with me?  No fun at this time of year not making the goodies for my family.

CALLIE  I did not think my legs were that week or my arms either. If I wasn't seeing red at the time I would have got my winter slippers on and had that CNA get it out of there tomorrow.

AMY  just because I am late this morning  I am slow with everything, even my typing.

LLOYD  I wish and pray everything goes good for you and Nancy tomorrow.

PHYLLIS  even you made it in before me today.

JANE  there was a time snow never kept me home but now I stay home and cancelled appointments more than once.

Have a good day.

I hate to admit to you girls, but yesterday or day before, when some big fat snow flakes started coming down I got so excited I would have done a happy dance but for the knee.... and by the time I got the camera out it had already stopped! I'm counting on those persimmon seeds being right about lots of snow, but maybe that's only for Missouri, where they were growing.

Bright sunshine today but still a nip in the air, all cats are out sunning. I've been to church, we walked over & checked out the new gym... building a bigger church & keep adding on to the school, huge complex. Will go to the gr-grandson's 3rd birthday party in a little while. They are serving brunch but I would rather get some more zzzzzzzzzzs... only 4 hours & 15 min & that isn't enough for this little old lady. Daughter will be in town tomorrow so total chaos for the next week.  I moved this laptop to a back bedroom so not as handy to stop & chat......but I'll be checking on y'all.  Love ya, Shirley

It's a lovely day today, 45 degrees and the sun is shining.

Tom had arranged for him, Dot and me to go to lunch/brunch at a nearby restaurant; he would meet us after church.  Famous last words - when he got home last night he said his car had died - maybe the alternator or belt.  Slight change of plans in the Dot and I came here and picked up Tom to go to the restaurant.  Tom did not go to church.  So often things happen during the weekend and this was no exception.  It was a bad time to have this happen because we are going to friend, Robin's, for T-Day and there isn't a lot of time to get the car fixed before then, but the dealership is only a mile from here so I hope they can get him in.  Sunday after T-Day we are to go to Holland to be with James and family.

I'm glad any snow was east of us and I hope it stays that way.  I don't get out in the winter unless I go somewhere, nothing like sitting out on the deck or walking or hanging out clothes!

There were a lot of SS messages today.

Mary Ann

A sunny "almost-warm" Good Afternoon,

Thanksgiving and December are coming at me way too fast!!    Have the usual assignment for Thanksgiving dinner - chocolate dessert and cornbread dressing - and need to get the dessert made and the ingredients for the dressing together before "somebody" picks me up on Wednesday to go to son's house. I'll mix and bake the dressing there since I'm spending the night.
Hope I remember to have "whomever" brings me home get the tub of Christmas house decorations into the house from the garage.

Then I need to go to Walmart to get gift cards for the children in Whiz Kids, an after-school activity for homeless children that my church supports.  I'll also get gifts for the names I drew from the church's Giving Tree.  Those go to mothers and children in a shelter for those experiencing domestic abuse.

Also need to get grocery items for the church's Mission in downtown OKC.  We're given an Advent Calendar with a different grocery item written on each day.  Of course, we have to get the items in before the end of Advent but I think it's a clever way to make it a seasonal family project as well as provide items that are needed the most. Most, including me, bring a few items every Sunday but I like to get them all at once "while I'm thinking about it".

I baked some small loaves of Orange Marmalade bread yesterday and want to do the same with Lemon Bread before my Bridge Club meets.   They'll be expecting Martha Washington candy - but I've retired from making that.  ;)

And, of course, I have to prepare for the family trip to Wisconsin to see Miss Ellen perform and share Christmas with her.  As far as I can tell,  all is going well with the Christmas program.  There are 5 performers who are staying in town for Thanksgiving and they are putting together a dinner in the "communal kitchen" of their housing. Ellen asked for my chocolate dessert recipe so I know what she's taking.  :)

Off to make a grocery list for Me and also for Church.

I finished all the PB Saltines today....a total of 35 dozen!  I think I might have a few extra so a put a couple dozen in the Hidey Hole for all of you to try!  Help yourselves.  There's fresh coffee and tea to go with it or cold drinks if you'd rather.  Enjoy!!

WOW Jane!! You had your attem up with you this morning! Mine didn't want to move so I did 35 winks on the chair and another  in bed with the dogs....but that one was more than 35 winks! Thank you for the treat and tea!

Callie, it seems to me the holidays come quicker each year and each year I try to get ahead and fail :(

MaryAnn, oh dear, not nice when a vehicle decides to lay down on you. Hope Tom can get it fixed soon.

Shirley, I must admit I am in awe at the snow...it is so beautiful on the trees, they look like they have been dipped in icing sugar! Then when the sun shines they sparkle! As much as I am not looking forward to waltzing with the snow blower or shovel, I can appreciate the beauty of snow.

Didn't wish to see morning this early but it is what it is. We are to go to the city to do some Christmas shopping and return an item but not sure on the weather. Back step is showing light rain but the weather dogs came in dry? I don't wish to travel if freezing rain is in the forecast.

Jane 26 doz is still a lot!! Are you going to be 4 hours closer to retirement after today?

Lloyd, all the best for you and Nancy today. I pray everything is in your favour. No matter which way it goes remember you and Nancy are more important in this life and need to take care of each other.

LLOYD, my prayers are with you, today!

Yeparoonie AMY.  After today I'll have 8 hours left to work!  I'm really looking forward to this coming Saturday!  And with all the changes that are being made, it was time to move out!  I get to keep my discount card forever so that's a good thing.  Lots of hugs from other associates when they hear I'm leaving.  I think a few of the people behind the counters are going to miss me and I'm getting well-wishes from LOTS of customers.  They are the ones I'll REALLY miss!

Good morning everyone, cannot believe I slept till 6:30 this morning, Latest in in awhile that I got a good 7 hours in dreamland.

AMY  I have had trouble getting around for years now but still having trouble getting used to it. If I could forget how I got around before Art H Ritis got hold of me I would be content? WOW YOU EVEN HAD TO WAKE THE DOG UP? Now that is unusual.

SHIRLEY  my grandson stopped inviting me to his son's birthday because they have so may people and little ones I cannot take all the commotion and noise. Of course I love seeing my great grandson but not with so many kids around. Do I sound like an old grouch?  Maybe I am now. I am still waiting to see snow.

CALLIE  I got online yesterday and got a delivery of groceries, they will be here today between 3 & 5. I was hoping for a morning delivery but at this late date I was lucky to get the time I did. That means no one to help me put things away. I ordered a few things to take to Tday at my grandson's new home. I have not seen it yet but the pictures he sent me It is bigger  than the one he had. Another time I miss my regular CNA, she was a whiz at shopping and knew better than to substitute what I wrote on the list. The one I have now will substitute for something I do not like.

JANE oh I would love to try your dipped saltines. Love chocolate. Would eat it every day but do know better.

AMY  I am like you with the beauty of snow. Especially now that I do not have to shovel anymore.

LLOYD  prayers go with you today.
Wonderful family gathering Saturday.

Have a good day.

Jane, time marches on and it won't be long before you can march right out of the store and not return to work.

Gloria, I'll bet if you decided you wanted to go to your grandson's, he's welcome you with open arms.  I don't blame you about lots of people and especially young children.

I seldom dream and remember any, more seldom.  But this morning I had a crazy one.  I was in a twin bed and had a roommate.  Both of us wanted to shower and I decided to let her go first.  It was 8:30 am.  She didn't get up when I thought she should, so I decided to get up; the time was nearing 9 am.  By that time I was really awake.  I turned over and looked at the clock, expecting to see it was 9 am, only it was 7:30 am.  I didn't get up!

I know it will be a busy week for everyone, even Tom and me.  For one thing, Tom's car died last night and this morning it went off on a flatbed trailer to be repaired.  He will be here all day until the car comes back.  Tomorrow Tom's SisIL will be here to cut my toenails and have lunch.  Wednesday we will go to Sheridan to pick up Tom's former MIL to take her to Annie's where we will not be having T-Day dinner.  Somewhere in there I'll put together a layered salad.  Thursday we will go to Tom's friend, Robin's, to have T-day with her and friends.  I'll be ready to collapse Friday because that will be more activity than I'm used to.  Getting old is not for sissies!

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday was a fun day, we struck out early but had to detour on one of the roads we normally take due to an accident. That road was opened by the time we came home. The weather was perfect, with a temp of around 44° great for travelling. Costco was busy at opening time but not as busy as it was the other day. Nipped in and out in jig time . Best Buy ,well that is another story  lots of people and lots of people needing help,me being one of them but all in all it wasn't bad.

Today I had better wash floors and tidy up. Need to take Kyle to the lumber yard for supplies than after that I can get my work done.

Phyliss, you must have needed the sleep.

Gloria, all our snow has gone..for the time being..

Jane, when I stopped working it was the people I missed most.

Lloyd, hope you can get your 4 wheeler fixed with no problems.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, looks like we will have a sunny day at last. Hope so, Feels like I have been cooped up in here too long and need some fresh air. I want to get out into the sunshine. We just might have rain on Thanksgiving according to the weather guessers. Who knows so far ahead, really?

PHYLLIS  if they weren't sending a CNA so early now I would have been going back to bed most mornings lately. On Mondays she has been coming at 11:45 but yesterday she was here at 8:45 and I was sure not ready. I even called the company yesterday morning to find out if I was getting anyone, the one who is doing the schedule now never lets us know.

MARY ANN  I would never invite myself to anyone's home. My son told me we were going there and then my grandson called and said he was doing the Thanksgiving dinner and wanted to make sure I would be there. He live about 1½ miles from my son so about 5 miles from me.

LLOYD  seems like layers just drag things out to make themselves richer. With all their ads on TV I would look for one who does not advertise.

JANE  you sure keep busy all the time, tat is what keeps you young at heart. About all I want to do anymore is sit or lay on the couch watching TV.

AMY  Kyle must be feeling good now and is keeping busy. That is good news. Love your graphic.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I up and attem this morning.  I have some workmen coming in and I had to be dressed and ready.  He said "7:30 or so".  I wonder what that means for sure.

Anyway, I have to watch for them because I have to show them how they can get closer to the house than he originally thought.  So I'll try to check back later.  Enjoy your day!

the workmen have been and gone and the house is mine again.  However, they will be returning on Monday to finish a job that didn't make it today.

And I've finished the chocolate dipped pretzels and packed them ready for giving.  Tonight (if I don't doze off) I'm going to finish one more thing and then tomorrow will be a WM morning and a pumpkin pie afternoon.

I realize that I'm once more talking to myself and that's OK.  I read somewhere, that it's OK to talk to yourself as long as you know that's what your doing and you don't answer yourself.

I hope you are all having a wonderful day.  It's gorgeous here.  The sun is shining and the temp is in the mid 50s.  The guys had a nice day for working outside.

Frankie was here and she gave her dog a bath.  They just have a shower and it's not an easy job to give a do a bath in the shower.  I asked her if she'd like to earn a little extra money.  She said "doing what? Giving Mickie a bath, too?"  I said "yes" and she said, "I'll give her a bath but I don't want your money".  So I made her some chocolate pretzels.  She was happy with that deal!  So was I!

Gotta go!  I have to look something up and maybe place an order. Enjoy whatever it is you're doing that's keeping you out of the SS.

Good Afternoon,

I made two trips to the supermarket yesterday. Drove through the parking lot and came right back home from the first one because I could not find a parking place within anybody's walking distance - much less mine!  Went back when I thought I'd be in between the lunch crowd and the after school crowd. WRONG!!!  However, I did find a lady loading groceries into her car - so just sat there with turn signal on and "let" others go past.
Of course, it was a zoo inside but everyone seemed to be in a good mood and took turns in aisles (well- except for the dear husbands "helping" their wives do what they've probably done on their own for 40 years.  ::) )

Thought that meant I could come straight home from standing hair appointment this morning.  WRONG again! Discovered I would need more cornmeal than I had to make a double recipe of dressing (requested the night before because there's never enough left for son/grandson to have left-overs  ;) ).  Hair place is across the street from grocery so decided to go early and take my chances in parking lot.  Glory Be!  I was in and out and able to go straight across the street without waiting for traffic - in time to be early for hair appointment.

Also remembered a couple of things I needed at Walgreen's so went there after hair.  Of course, I came home with at least 2x the items I first thought of.

Had a phone message that housekeeper would be late - so there went my plans to be working in the kitchen by now.  She still isn't here but, once I start, I don't want to have to get out of her way so guess I'll be making dessert this evening.

Also waiting for Grandson, who "might" be stopping by on his way home from OSU to get folding chairs.

Tomorrow will be baking cornbread and biscuit dough (no use making biscuits when they're going to be crumbled) and chopping celery/onions - plus getting things together to spend at least 1 night with son/family. I'm taking dressing ingredients and mixing/baking there.
Weather forecast sounds as if I might be there 2 nights instead of having someone bring me home after dark in pouring cold rain.

And that's what's going on in my corner of the world.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

Janie - the countdown is on for your Freedom.  Let us know what time to start ringing the bells.  :smitten:

We had a much calmer day (so far) than what I've read here.  Jan came to cut my toenails and brought her mother. When finished, Jan, her mother, Tom and I went to a restaurant for lunch.  Tom had a phone call that his car was ready so we left the restaurant, dropped me off and Jan took Tom to the dealership for his car.  I managed to rest for a half hour before Robin came, earlier than usual.  Robin and Tom are talking now, but Robin and I are going downstairs to hunt for something.  I am requested to not go down the steps so I have not been downstairs in a long time.   PS I just found out I'm not going downstairs because Tom is going to the doctor's and wants to be here to move anything necessary so we'll plan on that for next week.  The story of my life!

Tomorrow Tom and I will go to Sheridan MI to pick up his former MIL to take her to Annie's where she will spend the night prior to Thanksgiving.  Sometime tomorrow I will have to make my salad for when we go to Robin's for our T-Day meal.  We'll eat late because she has to work.

Cotton Candy, there are really no recipes for either.  The pretzels are just your choice of small pretzels.  I've used round, pb filled, shapes or whatever.  For Christmas, I try to get the Rolled Gold Christmas Shapes.  Then you melt chocolate and dip them.  You can buy regular melting chocolate almost anywhere these days.  It comes in the wafer size or in larger blocks.  It can be melted over simmering water or in the microwave.  I noticed that the 1 and a half pound blocks from WM have directions for melting in the microwave.

For the PB crackers, you spread one with pb and make a sandwich and then dip them in melted chocolate.  I put them on a non stick cookie sheet to set up.  With anything you dip in chocolate, you need to chill.  You can do that for about 5 minutes in the freezer or up to 15 in the fridge.  Any other questions, ask!  No secrets...just fun and good eats.

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.  We are snowed in......there is a good 15" on the ground here.  Started snowing last night around 10 and has continued ever since.  Some locations  had the sun peek through, but we did not.  Tomorrow is to be cold, but no more snow until Friday.

We managed to get out yesterday and purchased the Thanksgiving Dinner items as well as a few days to tide us over with the uncertain weather.  We were invited to join our California DIL's Family here, but we declined with the uncertainty of the weather.  They live south of us about 35 minutes and they can get a lot worse weather than we have here.

MARY ANN, I know you were happy to get Tom's car back and the repair was not too much!

Seems you all are busy getting ready for the turkey feast day...ours is going to be a bit too quiet, but we have been blessed for years to be with family and just because there is just the two of us, it will be special too🦃🦃

I wish you all a goodnight....pleasant dreams to all.

COTTON CANDY, I forgot to say that I just use a dinner fork or dipping.  Tap it lightly on the side of whatever you have the chocolate in to remove the excess.  Works well for me!

Good night Everyfriend.  Tomorrow is my next to the last day as a WM Associate.  Friday will be my last!  I'm getting excited now!

JENNY, I think there must have been a large D printed on each of those snowflakes.  That means that you are to keep it in DENVER!  Do NOT let it move east!   Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your SWEETIE and cherish it!  I bet there haven't been many of those in your lifetime!

I'm off to bed and I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone. Boy it was like a spring day yesterday. Full sunshine and blue sky, up into the low 60's. I spent a lot of time outside walking around and then sitting in the sun on the porch. Felt wonderful after all the rain we had. Tomorrow we are to have rain again. Oh well I will be inside at my grandson's home and the distance from my son's car to the house is short and I will enjoy the company. Got my grocery order before my Skype time and I am happy with the cheese cake and other things I bought to bring tomorrow. This will be the first time I bring something I did not make.

JANE  OK next time I talk to myself I will make sure I do not answer. I sure do not want the men with the white coats and those odd jackets to put on me. Don't you love it when workmen arrive at the time they say they will?

SHIRLEY  I still have not put all the groceries I got yesterday away. I was worn out before I could finish.

CALLIE  we are supposed to get light rain on Thursday. Glad I have a warm jacket with a hood on it, also a good rain bonnet, hate getting my head wet in cold rain.

COTTONCANDY  Jane is great for sharing recipes.

JENNY  my daughter is supposed to get snow starting on Thanksgiving night. My oldest grandson is there to spend the holiday with them. He always leave for San Diego early on Friday morning. Hope he does not run into a lot of snow. Not experienced in driving in it. Don't get it in southern Ca. except in the mountains.

Gosh I am first one here this morning. If that cna wasn't coming so early I would still be sleeping.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be my next to last day as a WM Associate!  CALLIE, you can start the bell ringing at 1 p.m. on Friday.  That's when I'll start cheering!  I've reached the point where I'm really looking forward to not having to go anywhere.  When the plumber said he'd be back Monday to finish the job two thoughts flew through my brain.  First, I wonder what time Monday because I'll be at work in the morning!  Then, "OH NO I WON'T BE AT WORK!"

I didn't get everything done yesterday that I'd planned on doing but a lot os stuff that I hadn't planned did get done so as my Dad used to say "That's half of one thing, and 50% of another!"  I always took that to mean that if you didn't finish what you had planned but something else that wasn't planned did get finished, it was a good day!

Today, I'm just going to take things as they come.  All I'm responsible for doing for Thanksgiving is 2 pumpkin pies and I have everything set out on the counter except what needs to stay in the fridge.  My plan is to do that sometime after I get home from work today.  And that lets a lot of room to get through that door.

Mickie is lying on my foot waiting for the boinger and we have about 15 minutes to go. So.....

I wish you all a happy day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone..

Raining out ,need a lot of moisture in the ground befor freeze up yet. Yesterday was a mixed up day with nothing accomplished. Did research into the product Kyle is going to use, even phoned the company that supplied it. Now today we will go back to the lumber yard and get what is needed. Also need to pick up his tools that were left for repair.

Jenny , I am with Jane all those snowflakes belong to you and it is fine not to share them here also.

Jane,I think I am as excited as you waiting  for 1 pm Fri..

Gloria, sounds like you are also going to have a lovely TG.We had two lovely days in the past and now liquid sunshine. The wells will be happy with more water!

Lloyd, how are you? Did you get the repairs done ?

Mary Ann, why do things break just before a holiday? Or one gets a toothache and has to wait till the holidays are over with?

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone.

First of all, Gloria, that was a lovely Thanksgiving Day card.  Thank you.

Amy, it does seem when things go wrong, it is on a weekend.  Tom had thought it might be the alternator of his car but we think he was lucky.  It might have been the belt in the car that was loose, but they also replaced the battery.  I hope that was all because today we are driving to Sheridan to pick up Tom's former MIL to take her to Annie's and we don't want to get stuck between here and Sheridan (45 miles away).

I am almost ready to start my salad for tomorrow but I need the bowl to put it in and I need the first layer - lettuce.  Lettuce did not make it to the mixed up grocery list we had last week - where Tom checked out as I was completing the list.

It was 51 degrees when I got up this morning and will go slightly higher but radar looks as if we'll have rain all day.  I can see snow in the west but not for today.  I'm glad we don't have far to go.

Jane, we will all send cheers, bells and whistles at 1 pm Friday.  Oh, happy day!

Mary Ann

Good morning.

I am sure everyone will be busy today getting ready for tomorrow.

And, Jane, I know you are excited for Friday to finally come along.  Especially about 1 p.m . I will be cheering, along with all your other friends.

Jane, for your PN butter cracker treats you make, do use  Saltine crackers or the Ritz crackers????  I have gone back and tried to find your message about how you make them, but couldn't find it.  So, just want to know what kind of crackers you use???? Thanks !

Need to get myself moving.  I want to make a cake this morning. I am going to my son's and all I have to take is the homemade cranberry sauce and a chocolate cake.  So, that won't be too hard. I made the cranberry sauce yesterday. I will bake the cake today and put the icing on tomorrow morning.  My son and I will leave about 3.  Dinner is supposed to be about 4, but it always is late by the time everything is ready to sit down to eat.

Enjoy the day.

Good Afternoon from the cold and
rainy rocky coast of Maine.

Later on tonight and tomorrow morning,   it is
suppose to snow...  not so much that it will
prevent us from getting to where we are
going for thanksgiving...  I presume !

Speaking of the disaster that was in Whales
"Aberfan" ....   just yesterday I was searching around
on my Roku and low and behold they were showing  a
Movie, about that horrible tragedy..

What a very sad and heart breaking tale.
Sickening.

Tomorrow I am going over to Madison and Fe's
for  thanksgiving....   Madison is also having
some refugees from The Congo... families with
children...

Madison is very much into volunteering
these days.... (she takes Fe with her)...

She is stay at home Mother who just
gives and gives and gives or her time
with people who are less fortunate then
we are....     I am so very  proud of her.

All is well here.   Looking forward
to Turkey Day!

LLoyd,  I sure hope that things work
out for you and your wife...

Chapter 2 to yesterday's "saga":

I began chopping celery and onions while waiting for housekeeper and grandson.  They arrived about the same time - mid-afternoon.  Grandson stayed almost an hour to talk and I couldn't get back in the kitchen until housekeeper left.

Decided I could probably do the dessert after dinner.  Was watching the evening weather report on very high winds moving through the area when ZAP!- power suddenly went out and I was in total darkness.  Used the flashlight on my cell phone to find the big flashlight and then neighbor and I began texting.  She found a city website on her phone that reported a power pole had blown down and they were trying to reroute the electricity.  No estimate on time required.
Hadn't had dinner but managed to make a PB&J sandwich and drink a glass of water.
50 minutes later, power came back on but by the time I regained my equilibrium and reset clocks - I didn't want to do anything else.

Got up and got started this morning.
Chocolate dessert and ingredients for "mix here and bake there" cornbread dressing are ready.  Now I have to get me ready for son to pick me up - and that may take longer than the food prep did.

Janie,  have made a note to have whistle and bell ready at 1:00 p.m. on Friday!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Blessed and  :pumpkinpie:

Thanks, Jane.   I do hope to get to make some with the saltines.  I make the Faux Girl Scout thin mint cookies with the Ritz  crackers.  But, they are just 1 layer. No PN butter. Mix a little mint flavoring in the melted chocolate and just dip the crackers.  They are really good.  The saltines probably have an altogether different taste,  especially with the PN butter.  Anxious to try them.
  Thanks, again.

You're welcome, Joy.  I'm glad Amy was there to let you know about the saltines.

I'll be listening for the bells and whistles and watching for the balloons on Friday.  I appreciate all the good wishes.  Thank you one and all!  I have 4 hours left. Today I got 3 hugs from fellow cashiers and 9 from customers!

I LOVE THE CUSTOMERS!  I'm going to miss them most of all!  I've watched some of them grow up from little!

I think I'll go take a short nap before supper and then bake my pies after supper.  Continue with you happy day, Everyfriend!

T'was the Night Before Thanksgiving when all through the house.... Kansas winds were howling inside and out.......

Got the first turkey baked, giblets cooked & chopped to go into the noodles along with the "drippings" from the roaster pan & lots of chicken broth, 4 16 oz bags of Reams noodles, lots of chopped turkey & other stuff (more onions & celery)... house smells so good, baked one bag of Pepperidge Farm herb stuffing ( I use a good cup full each of chopped onions & celery in that along with all the herbs called for for "pheasant under glass"....)I stuff the turkey & have a bowl full that bakes the last 45 min of turkey browning. I mix what comes out of the turkey with the dryer bowl full... and will have 2 bowls of that to take, turkey plus turkey breast & the grown grands will have 4 drumsticks to fight over! Everyone else brings all the rest & they bring enough to feed an army. We are a rowdy bunch, everyone talking at once. They have a big playroom in the basement for the little ones to ride the latest rage (hover boards).... Busy day. Supposed to be snow/ice & rain in the morning so plenty of 4 wheel drive vehicles going to pick me up along with the food... they take care of the old lady!  :smitten:  Wishing all a wonderful day, safe and lots of hugs and good food.   God Bless.........Shirley

On Thanksgiving Day we're thankful for
Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.
For sun to light and warm our days,
For stars that glow at night,
For trees of green and skies of blue,
And puffy clouds of white.
We're grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug, and legs to walk,
And ears to hear each sound.
The list of all we're grateful for
Would fill a great big book;
Our thankful hearts find new delights
Everywhere

Wishing all of you could have shared the food today.... turned out everyone brought lots of sweets, plenty of fresh fruit & veggies, cooked veggies & desserts & breads, plenty left over for each family to take home a tad for tomorrow. The meat of one whole turkey (minus drumsticks) got chopped up & put into the noodles and not a bite left of the other. I have bones of both to take to the river tomorrow... it was still drizzling when I got home so didn't go down the hill. Bubble, if you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods I will fix the whole meal just for you! And now to bed..............Shirley

Just checking in before I check out1  It sounds like some of you had a nice day.  My family get-together told me that family traditions will continue.  We had a meal that brought back memories of ancestors on both sides of my family and included my SIL's mother who was my friend before HE was my SIL.

And now I'm off to Dreamland.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to EVERYFRIEND here in the US.

🎈 HAPPY BIRTHDAY to JESSIE 🎈

HAPPY LAST DAY OF WORK, JANE.  I know it is going to be a bitter sweet day for you 💕💕

Our day was rather quiet......we did get our turkey cooked....tried to keep the accompanying items to a minimum, but it still took a lot of clean up and we both questioned if we ever really want to do this again😩🤣🤣

We talked to three of the sons and families today and my Dad, but sadly did not hear from Dr. Dave and Family who are in Florida at Disney World 😭

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone. 29° Hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday. I just did not have time to even stop in and wish everyone a happy
Tday. I had a good time but was glad to get home, tired and happy. My grandson's in-laws were there and his wife's parents are great. Her sister and BF and her 2 daughters were  there. The 3 kids were noisy enough to sound like at least a dozen kids. Love his new house, The first floor has more rooms than his first house had and in this one the bedrooms are upstairs. Of course I did not go up there. Had only 3 stairs to get into he house. More than enough food, I think my grandson and his wife think they are cooking for an army or at least a platoon in it. His MIL sat next to me and filled my plate when the food was passed around. She wanted  to keep giving me more  than I wanted. I kept telling her I know just how much I could eat. The 3 kids ate at the center island and had fun and I was surprised they ate good. One girl is 7 and the other just a few months older than my great grandson.

Did get onto Skype with my daughter when I got home. I talked to my first grandson, too. It is 23 years since I last saw him in person, that was the last time I went to San Diego, the year I retired. He will be leaving this morning heading home to San Diego

Watched the news last night and it looks like a lot of the country had bad weather for Thanksgiving with snow and wind and flooding in southern Ca. When they say southern Ca. on the news they refer to LA not San Diego. and that really the southern part, right to the border. I pray he has no problems getting home.

AMY  love your Thanksgiving Delights. Of course you know I am going to copy it.Thank you. No snow here but when we left to come home it sure was windy.According to the weather report snow in forecast for Sunday and Monday.

JANE  I know you enjoyed your day with your family as much as I did.

SHIRLEY  I was the only one who brought desserts, but not home made. I felt terrible that I could not make anything myself. I ordered it with the grocery order delivery.  That all disappeared, too.

LLOYD  like you I did not stuff myself either.

JANE  will be ready to start cheering when you leave work today.

JENNY  my other son called me before the one who lives here picked me up.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

What a day we had yesterday..lots of fun and laughter! We shopped some before going to the Dr appointment . I pick ed up another IP on for half price. I was going to just get another bowl/liner but for a few $$ more could have the whole kit and caboodle! Lunch was a feast of Chinese food then off to the appointment.  When we got the the ambulance was parked along with a firetruck but we still could inch in under the canopy. Elevators were on hold for the ambulance people and their patient so we courageously took to the stairs. Up one flight noticed a chair, I remarked what a good idea.....up to the second flight ,noticed two chairs and yes very good idea as two ol ladies sat for a bit. As we sat we commented on these young ones that bound effortlessly up the stair in remembrance of what we also would have done. Report was good, her pacemaker is good for another 3 1/2 years. I was so happy to head home with all our spoils of the shopping trip.

Kyle had built another trug  all it needs is the lining in it. This one took less time but as we say first one is a learning experience. After that everything goes together quicker.

Not sure what today will bring ,just see what happens.

Sounds like a fun Thanksgiving for all and now the leftovers which always taste so good!

Shirley ,thank you..never thought we would get here this quick with him. Jessie , is a good dog, just has a lot of learning to do.

Gloria, I didn't over eat at the buffet either . Tis so easy to do with all the varieties to choose from.

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Mickie and I are just sitting here waiting for the boinger and having a visit with friends.

It sounds like Everyfriend had a special day yesterday!  JENNY, I know how you felt about not having family around  on Thanksgiving.  There was one Christmas a while back when we had a major snowstorm over night and I was snowed in.  My daughter said that Craig would come over and get me and I told her that I'd feel terrible if anything happened and that I'd be fine by myself.  Then my son wanted to come and I told him no.  But I decided that I'd make Christmas special anyway in another way.  I didn't do the traditional dinner.  I made my favorite Chinese dinner just so it would be different.  And after the plows went through in the early evening, we decided all together that we'd do the traditional on Sunday.  It was a "Christmas to Remember".

Now it's almost time for the boinger and then a walk for Mickie and I'll be getting ready for my last day as a WM Associate.  After this, I turn into a retiree and a regular customer.  After all, in my mind, the customers are the BEST!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

((((Jane)))) I know this will be an emotional day not only for you but all your friends at WM.   Customers will miss you and your smiling face and helpful ways.  Mickie will love you being home all the time too! After you retire you will become more busy than ever .

I'm thinking of you today, Jane, and giving you a big cyber hug.  You will love retirement!

Yesterday was a very nice day for us.  The weather was sunny, mild and perfect.  I felt good with no wobblies and no headaches and managed to get a good dinner on the table.  All went well.  I know our Tksgvng dinner of Bar-b-qued Pork Ribs is not what most of you consider traditional but it was so good and we didn't need turkey to be grateful for our blessings, anyway.

Today is another sunny day though it is a bit cooler. I must catch up on some household chores that I let slide and we will have delicious left-overs for dinner tonight.

I watched the dog show from Washington DC yesterday.  The bulldog won but I was pulling for a beautiful Golden.  Thinking about Jessie and wishing him a happy birthday....he is still a baby, isn't he?  Also, thinking about another IP just to make yogurt.....maybe not.

Take care, All.

It sounds as if everyone had a nice T-Day, whether traditional or not.

Tom and I are babysitting his grandchildren in Holland and I am having more help on the computer than I want.  I'm almost surprised the computer works, but it does.

We will be here all morning; both parents work but the child care was closed today and we are glad to see the girls.  I don't know if I've mentioned they are both redheads, as are their parents.  One has curly hair, the others hair is straight except at the ends, she has a little wave.

It was a nice last day at WM.  I got lots more hugs from my friends who work there and from my other friends who shop there.  They also had a decorated table and enough cupcakes for everyone to have one and for me to take some home.  There was also a card signed by all the cashiers and some other people in the store who have known me through the years.  Then I walked outside and I heard a strange sound.  It turned out to be the sound of Bells and Whiltles coming from the Southwest....I think from the direction of Oklahoma!

Seriously, I want to thank everyfriend for you good wishes and thoughts sent in my direction.  It's a strange feeling but a good one!

And I forgot to wish Jessie a HAPPY BIRTHDAY.  I hope it was or will be.  When did you say he celebrates?

Frankie's coming over to spend the night and I'm going to try to "hang out" a little with my other granddaughter, Natalie before she heads back to Texas on Sunday.

Now I'm just waiting for Frankie to get here.  Enjoy the rest of your day.  I know I will!

Jane, Happy Retirement Day.  I wish you a long and healthy retirement.

This old gal has been trying to recuperate from two busy days and it's hard.  I'm ready to nap at any time.  I had a nap and I'll stick it out until bedtime.  Thanksgiving Day dinner yesterday and baby sitting today is hard on me - but I'd do it again.

Now, I'm letting it all "hang out".

Joy, all blinds are closed, thank you.

I'm about to go to bed and I'm nearer my regular time than I intended.  I can sleep in the morning as long as I like so that may help.

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

It is snowing again and the last snow has hardly melted as it has been so cold ❄️❄️🥶🥶

JANE, I thought about you a lot this morning knowing it was going to be a bitter sweet last day at work.  I am happy to read it went well and they did a nice job of sending you off into retirement😘
Enjoy your weekend and the time spent with your granddaughters.  Thank you for sharing your special story of a Christmas spent alone....a Christmas to remember😘

AMY, how nice you got yourself a new IP at such a good price.  Your day sounded very interesting getting your friend to her appointment. Happy the report was good for her on the pacemaker.  Nice to read the second true is finished.  Yes, the second one always goes together so much easier.  Glad to read Jessie enjoyed his Bday.

GLORIA, there were terrible storms in Arizona today.....I do hope your grandson got back to San Diego safely.

MARY ANN, I bet you and Tom and sleeping very soundly tonight after your adventure this morning with the darling red heads😘

I must head off to bed myself.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone, don't know what  it is but I keep waking between 3 and 4 AM. Then by 10 I am ready for a nap. But of course that is too early for one. It is now 25° and I checked my daughter's and they are only 5 degrees warmer. They are having colder weather in that are of Arizona this year. My daughter send me a picture of my SIL and grandson both bundled up outside.I had a good laugh with that one. When we were on Skype yesterday she got a text that my grandson just got home.

AMY  just a few years ago I would have had some of everything on my plate but now I had just a little of what I really like. Not being very active anymore I do not have much of an appetite. I am not on the move all day like I used to be. Not like you are for sure.

JANE  I know it is too early to feel it yet but how does it feel to know your time belongs to YOU now and not to WM anymore? You can do just what you want and when you want. Now you can "Make it your own in every way."

MARY ANN my days of baby sitting are over and would not be able to do it even for my little great grandson.

JANE  you were sent off with good if sad feelings from your co workers and customers. Good memories to know you will be  missed there.

JENNY  my grandson left before the storm hit yesterday and he made good time home. That was good news to hear  yesterday. I always worry when any family member is traveling especially alone, well he did have his dog with him.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Thanks for all the good wishes/  I don't think I'll find any difference until Monday when I don't have to go anywhere.  We have a prediction for  snow on Sunday and Monday.  When I get up on Monday and see snow, no matter how much it is, I'll be able to say a "thank you' that I don't have to go out and drive in it.

I hope it hold off on Sunday until my Texans get to the airport and on their way so there are no hold ups.  It's not a nice way to end a good visit by sitting in an airport waiting for a flight!

MARY ANN, I hope you get up all rested from your stint as baby sitter.  I'm sure you loved being with the girls and I bet they loved having you there.  But it can be tiring.

I've had my first cup of coffee and two doggies went out and came in and had a treat.  Now Mickie and I are waiting for the boinger together.  Cooper asked to let into is Mom's bedroom when we got back in but I'm sure, if she's not up, he'll here us in the kitchen getting breakfast and he'll be right there.  I don't know how he does it when the door is closed.

I'm going to leave things loose today so I can get a last visit with the Texans.  I probably won't see them until something in the Spring...maybe later.

Next week, I have to concentrate on finishing up the Christmas Candy gifts.  That's all I have planned for the week except for a visit to the Chiropractor on Thursday.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Yep Gloria, you're right!  Now I can "make them my own in every way"!

Good morning everyone

Brr , chilly here with a temp of +6° . Laundry day today then will do some baking . My ambition is not up and attem yet but I do hope it will join me.

Jane ,enjoy your day with your family. I can't help but think what a great time to retire....before the Christmas madness in the store and the nasty winter weather!!

Gloria, I am now at the stage I would rather look out at the snow than be in it as I was years ago. I am quite content sitting at my sewing machine :)

Lloyd, good morning, hope you found more zzz's .

Jenny, I have often wished for another IP or liner but this deal was just too good to pass up.

Joy, lol....I bet she did have her blinds closed. You are right about finding time , we find we are busy enough here and to think we worked plus tried to keep up in the house.

Mary Ann, sounds like a wonderful with family and can understand the tiredness. We love them dearly but yes they can tire one out.

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Today is Saturday and the "days after".  You realize I did not do all the babysitting - it was a joint venture and Tom did most of it.  He's the one who lifts them.  When/if they want to be read to, I can do that.  The girls ran around the living and dining rooms (they can't run fast), colored, watched some Disney TV and a Wild Animals in Yellowstone video.  Ellie leaned on Grandpa and went to sleep.  Jo sat with me in a big chair (for two) and watched the Yellowstone video.  With each other for company, it isn't a big chore but at my age, I'm not used to little ones.  Tom is 62, just the right age for grandpas.  I ended up going to bed at my regular time, woke up twice as usual and got up at 8:30.  I'll have a nap early afternoon.

Jane, what a day for you.  Monday will be the day retirement hits.  I remember I got home the day I retired, wondered if I had done the right thing and after 15 minutes decided I had done the right thing and settled into retirement.  I've never been sorry.

Gloria, I think younger people do not realize our appetites decrease as we get older.  I eat a lot less but I'm still filled when I'm finished.  Someone fixed a plate for me with something of everything.  The portions were small but still I did not empty my plate.  The food was good and we brought some of it home.

Now I'm going to see if there are any freighters on the St Clair River.

Another day has slipped by. Laundry and floors washed and no baking :( Another day ..

We did get the solar motion light put up and may go get another one for the back yard for the dogs when they go out at night. We do have light but it doesn't go all the way to the back. This light will fit the bill. :)

Phyliss, I did carrots in the IP and wow the flavour of them was delicious. Didn't need butter  just carrots!.  I too like the idea of another just for yogurt. I found that after I strain the yogurt if I take the mixer and whip it up it doesn't separate as fast...very little whey to the top.

Better go clean up the kitchen..

Shirley must be resting her tummy....she hasn't poke in..

It isn't winter in Central PA yet.  Mickie and I just got back from a walk and we saw 4 flocks of Geese fly over.  And they weren't small flocks either. I'd say somewhere between 40 and 50 each except for one flock.  That one was about 20.  I've been hearing them for the last few days but didn't have occasion to drive by the pond where they often hang out and I was amazed when I saw them in the air.  That's the most I've ever seen at one time.

Had a nice visit with Cathy and Natalie this afternoon They were out running around and they stopped by to drop off some leftovers from yesterday's Thanksgiving Dinner for me.  They stayed for a nice visit and sampled some of the candy I've been making and Natalie took a jar of homemade salsa with her to dip into tonight!

I had to make a quick trip to WM this afternoon to get the stuff I forgot to get when they had the party.  And I got 3 more hugs from friends who were working.

Now I'm going to take a supper break and then get back to the candy dipping.  I finished 2 things today and have another one on the way!  Keep on with whatever you were doing...unless you're ready to rest!
