From a mail I received:

All Parents at some time are faced with the 'Is Santa Real' Question. This letter explains it perfectly.

Dear Ryan,

You asked a really good question"Are Mom and Dad really Santa?" We know that you wnat to know the answer and we had to give it careful thought to know just what to say.

The answer is no.  We are not Santa.  There is no one, single Santa.

We are the people who fill your stocking and choose and wrap the presents under the tree - just as our parents did for us, their parents did for them, and you will do for your kids someday.

This could never make any of us Santa.  Santa is lots and lots of people who keep the spirit of Christmas alive.  He lives in our hearts - not at the North Pole.  Santa is the magic and love and spirit of giving to others.  What he does is teach children to believe in something they can't see or touch. Throughout your life you will nee this capacity to believe: in yourself, in your family, in your friends and in God.

You'll need to believe in things you can't measure or hold in your hands.

Now you know the secret of how he gets down all of those chimneys on Christmas Eve: He has help from all the people whose hearts he has filled with joy.

With full hearts, people like Mommy and Daddy take our turns helping Santa do a job that would otherwise be impossible.  So, no, we are not Santa.  Santa is love and magic and hope and happiness.  We are on his team, and now you are too.

We love you, and we always will.

                                Love,

                            Mom and Dad

It's important to remember that Christmas is so much more than gift giving. It's a time to show kids that presence trumps presents!

Did you know there was   a word  for an unhappy marriage?

cagamosis  \kag e moe' sis\  (noun)

The importance of words

What we say to one another, not only here but elsewhere is important.

Words have the power to wound, inspire, encourage, and stimulate. So  they are important.

I would not be who I am if it weren't for the words I've read and had said to me. And those words have a ripple effect on those around us. What we share here and in our daily contact with others, sometimes gives someone a new viewpoint, something new to think about.

And words are important, YES! Else why are we here at this site talking to one another? And why are we so affected by the beauty of Shakespeare's words when he holds up mirrors for us to see ourselves?

HAPPY DECEMBER FIRST. Good morning everyone, finally I woke later, yippee. Almost 9 am and I am just getting here. 19° so maybe that is why I slept good and then dippy CNA does not come on Sunday. Then again I now could be rested from Thanksgiving. I don't like the way I get worn out every time I get out somewhere. Ahh these precious golden years !?

LLOYD  hope you got more restful sleep.

JANE  not having to go out in all kind of weather to get to work is one of the first things you will like big time. Then being able to do what you want whenever you want. gets to feel great. I wish you many years of retirement and the good health to really enjoy it. We have the prediction of snow star ting this afternoon but might end with a mix of sleet and rain. That is not what anyone looks forward to.

AMY  Aha now you sound like me, I still like sitting at the window and watching the snow fall and how pretty it is till the plows start up and the cars make it all dirty. Nothing like lookin‌g at a field of untouched snow in the sunlight, just plain beautiful.

MARY ANN  I lay on the couch yesterday to watch TV about 1pm and next thing I knew it was 4. I really fell asleep, something I seldom do during the day and slept good last night. I am not fond of turkey and the trimmings so took nothing home with me.

JENNY  I forgot you and June having the same birthday. Heck I cannot even remember my grands birthdays. My daughter sends me an Arizona calendar every year and writes all the dates of birthdays and anniversaries on the months. She has been doing that for years.

JANE  I only saw a flock of geese going over once and I could not guess how many there were in it.

BUBBLE  thank you for the new December page. Love your graphics, you do have the best baby and children tubes. Great jolly Santa. Love the explanation of Santa, I am going to copy it and send to my grandson, will be something for him to tell his son when the time comes. He is already getting excited about Santa. Wow guess I had "cagamosis" Thanks for letting me know, guess that is why I finally kicked my ex out.

Have a good day.

Gloria, sometimes when I nap, I sleep hard and it is hard to wake up.  I don't like it, but what can I do?!

Bubble, I liked the story of the real Santa and I'm going to copy and keep it too.  And with the words, it isn't only what you say to others, but how you say them.

We woke to a very white world this morning, which surprised me because at 1:30 am I woke to heavy downpour rain.  Tom said there was thunder and lightning too.  At 8:30 am we had about six plus inches on the ground.  Dot and I debated but decided to try to make it to church since we knew the main roads would be OK.  We never got away from in front of my condo.  I think Dot made it home OK because she did not answer the phone and i think she was at her neighbor's.  We are supposed to go to Holland this afternoon and I think we would not have any trouble except Annie's driveway which is long, uneven and unpaved.

Jenny, I forgot you shared birthdays with June.......and yes, every time one of our missing friends comes to mind I think of how many wonderful people we've gotten to know with our computers.  In MY world, we will see them all again and do hope they all wear name tags because not everyone posted their photos. Same with class reunions.... I took name tags & the wide magic markers (since some of us don't see so well...) to several class reunions but forgot last time & came away not having recognized a few people I would have dearly loved to talk to. Anyway.........

Belated.... Happy Birthday to Jenny!

Have to tell you about my friend here in town. She fell for a scam last night. Not sure all the details but she thought her Amazon account was hacked, went out & bought $500-$700 worth of gift cards as scammers requested & then gave them the numbers as requested.... she had had company all week (a widow & used to being alone).... had just delivered her company to the airport & came home totally exhausted & wasn't thinking. When I talked to her last night she was not making good sense about the whole deal but today realizes how crazy she was for falling for it. The way "they" operated there is no chance of getting any of her money back.  Beware.... NEVER reward ANYONE for fixing what you are told is necessary over the phone. She was told her Amazon account had been hacked to the tune of $4,000.... and can't imagine how she rationalized buying gift cards & giving them the numbers was going to fix Amazon... she was tired & brain turned off. My own brother fell for some kind of scam that has cost them unbelievable problems ever since to the point he is almost afraid to touch their computer or smart phones. These are 2 of the most meticulous, sharp people ever, beware, if they can get caught, anyone can. My warning for the new year.... Shirley

I popped in this morning and was going to just say "hello" before I took off for church but, BUBBLE, I was so impressed by your entries this morning that I decided to stop, give it some thought and come back later.  I absolutely love the one about whether or not the parents are Santa.  It has to be the best one I've ever seen and I'm going to share it with my kids and grandkids so they can share it with theirs.

And "The Importance of Words" is right up there with the best of them.  I've often wondered what my life would have een like if I had not found all of you and all of your past friends in Senior Net and S&F  We are all so different, yet we are all so much alike.  I know that no matter where I would have met any one of you, we would have been friends.  We like a lot of the same things and we've shared so much that we wouldn't have known otherwise.  I'd like to think that I'm a better person because of all of you people and all who have gone before.  I think of so many of you every day and I share things that are said here and feelings that we share.

I LOVE EVERY ONE OF YOU....PRESENT and PAST!!!

And JENNY, my belated birthday wishes for you, too.  May you celebrate many, many more!!!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Jane will understand what I am doing now. I am making Moose Farts....will give kids and adults a  giggle when they find them in their package.

Shirley, I am so sorry about your friend. I know we want to trust people but gone are those days. My friends FIL just had over 3000.00 removed from his account due to people "trying" to help him......instead they were helping themselves to his money!!

:hb3: A belated Happy Birthday to you Jenny, may you be blessed with many more! :hb3:

I've probably had a dozen calls in the last few weeks that begin, "I'm calling again to let you know that you've qualified for a majoy reduction in you electric bill...."  That's when I hang up.  The first time, I called my electric company to report it and they thanked me and confirmed that it was a scam.  The major thing that threw me off was that the calling number was a Texas number (the only reason  answered it) and my electric company is Pennsylvania based.

When I KNOW it's a scam number and my house is extremely quiet, I like to pick it up and say absolutely nothing.  Sometimes they say "hello:"  and sometimes they start their spiel. Sometimes they just don't say anything, just hang up.  I've gotta have SOME fun, don't I?

SHIRLEY, I'm so sorry about your friend.  We really do have to be careful!

Oh my...so far 2 1/2 inches of snow and it is coming down with a vengeance! I would hate to be on the highways tonight. So far no plow or sander has gone down.

The pup thinks it is great, he raced around the yard playing and by the time he wanted back in was covered in snow.

We have a date tomorrow one will dance with the snow blower and one will waltz with the shovel.. :snowball:

TOMEREADER, make them!  Not only are they delicious.  They are so much fun to take somewhere.  People will always ask what they are and when you tell them, the laughs begin.  I think they originated in Newfoundland and that's where they came by their name.

Sometime in the last two hours, our precipitation has turned to snow.  It's still not laying on the roads but the grass is getting it.  I wonder if my plumber will turn up tomorrow.  We shall see!  But I'm guessing if this amounts to as much as they've predicted, I'll be getting a call to reschedule

I'm going to bed pretty soon!  I didn't realize how tired I was until I finally sat down.  it took me about 10 minutes to fall asleep in front of the TV.  When I went to sleep, Hawkeye Pierce was propositioning a nurse on M*A*S*H and when I woke up, Colombo was questioning a suspect.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And way God bless us, every one!

JaneS thanks for shaking my head a little reminded me of one time past I was getting regular calls wanting to sell me venial siding.one day when i was in a real good mood, when they called I strung them along quite awhile .then said that relay sounds very good,I have a question how Ok they said, I said how would that look like on my brand new All Brick house, they hung up and never called again. and another thing I do to them Is lay the phone down and when the off hook ding starts wringing I go hang the phone up. I think that adds to there phone bill because that usually takes care of same one calling. time for me to bid you all sweet dreams.

Good morning everyone, back to waking after 3 am again and here I am with my first mug of coffee. looks like we got 2 inches of snow but looks like it is raining now.I had to look out of course. The plow has been through the parking lot and I did not even hear it. When I got into bed last night I could hear the maintenance man using his small plow on the walks. As I was loo‌king out I could see the snow falling off the sides of the cars, another reason to think it is raining.

MARY ANN  I lay on the couch for awhile every afternoon to rest my back and seldom fall asleep but when I fell sound asleep for 3 hours the other day I was surprised.

SHIRLEY  that sure was a scam, sorry your friend fell for it. I remember years ago getting a phone call that sounded legit but when asked my SS number it set up a red flag. I told the man he called me I didn't call him and hung up. If he knew so much he would not have asked for that, he would have known it. Oh I thought of you yesterday. I was reading  the Christmas Reader's Digest and in Life in the US. was a item about a woman and her Fit Bit and thought of you. This person found a way to add steps. She put it in the dryer and when she took it out she had over 3,000 steps before she got dressed. Of course you came to mind when you talked about yours.

JANE  if it had not been for MARE inviting me to join the Nest I would have given up on the computer. It sure did change my life. I found SN from an ad in a local online newspaper. I tried different forums and no one replied to me. I had pass the Wit and Wisdom because I thought I am not witty or wise but the Nest was the best place I could have landed. I think we were all upset when the SN shut us out. So happy when Pat set up S&F. Every one in here means so much to me. I often wonder about those who just dropped out, what happened to them  and all those who went home to God, many special people that we will always miss.

AMY  laughed with your Moose Farts. My daughter made them for a meeting of the ranch where they live and they loved them and waned to know what they were and they were surprised at the name. The ranch was a hugh one broken up into 40 acre lots and they bought theirs many years ago and had every thing there ready to move in when they retired. Every thing paid for before they moved in. Did I ever say my daughter is a penny pincher? Never spends a penny unless needed.

Maintenance man is out with his plow again. At least it is covered, the one they had before was a push one and he was in the weather all the time. It is raining now, of course I had to look out when I heard him out there.

JANE  at least you do not have to go to work today, isn't it wonderful to be retired?

LLOYD  if I don't know the number calling I let the machine pick the call up. most times they hang up but other s are so stupid they go into their lies until the machine cuts them off.

Time for another mug of coffee.
Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We had and are still having some snow overnight and this morning.  So far, it's only laying on the grass.  The roads and sidewalks are just wet.  I hope it stays that way!  There's less than an inch on the grass but it sure help me to see Mickie when she's out!

Last night I finished ALLthe dipping and today I'm going to pack PB saltines and start rolling PB balls for the PB Cups.  Maybe tomorrow morning I'll get some of the made up.  This and the coconut cups are what I make the most of in cups and when they're finished, I always breath a sigh of relief  And when I can put all that stuff away and decorate the table, It's CHRISTMAS in my house!

Tomorrow afternoon, my friend Mavis and I are going to go to the movies to see MR. ROGERS  I'm looking forward to this one.  Tom Hanks plays Mr. Robers and I've seen some clips.  He does a great job!

It's almost time for the plumber.  He said "around 7:30" but he didn't say how far around!  So I'm ready for him now.  But I have things I can do while I'm waiting and I guess it's time to get started doing them.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

AMY, don't dance so much that it wears you out!

Jane, Happy First Day of Retirement. I see you are right back at your Christmas baking so you are not taking it easy.  But you're on YOUR schedule, not WM's.

We don't have additional snow today but what is left over is hanging on the trees.  Oh, that was pretty.  I can enjoy something like that now that I don't drive.

Gloria, I'm up for the second time but I figure with both times, I slept about seven hours last night.  I got up about 3 am, computed for an hour or so, went back to bed and sleep and woke up about 8:30.  That ought to do me for a while.

I'm sorry for those of you who are/have been/will be dancing because it is a beautiful sunny morning here.  A little breezy and it was a dreary, wet weekend but no snow for us.  Thank you very much!  I'm very happy to sit at the window and admire the beauty of a lovely snowfall but nothing beyond that.

"Moose Farts" sounds like so much fun.  I might try them but am making no guarantees about anything so we shall see what happens.  Thanks for that No Bake Cookies site, Amy.  Lots of good stuff there.

Shirley, I'm sorry your friend got scammed.  It happens so much. Unless I recognize the number I don't answer the phone at all.  They can leave me a message on the answering machine.  And emails are immediately deleted.

I watched an old Keven Costner movie last night....don't even remember the name.  He wore a naval uniform in it and most of it took place in the Pentagon.  Gosh, he was (and still is) very nice to look at.

Laundry day....here I go.  Make it a good day, All.

The plumbers came and they have to have both hoppers off.  When he said they would be taking them both off, I said "both at once?"  He asked if I had to use one first and I told him, "No but I'm old and I go a lot". He grinned and said they would do them one at a time and leave me one to use.  Nice guys!

I got all the PB Saltines bagged except the ones that will go into the mixed bags.  That's about 2 dozen left.

I think I'll wait until they leave to roll the pb cup balls.  My hands get pretty messy and I like to keep moving on them while it's cold and a bit on the harder side.  I'd rather not have interruptions.  And I have all afternoon to do it.

The snow has stopped and the roads never did get much.  I think I'll pay some bills while I'm trapped!  Enjoy the rest of your day!

Just had a thought...I could go mix up some Moose Farts...

Merry Monday,

Having a bit of a challenge typing this morning because I have a split nail on my right hand and I'm right-handed so it has to grow out a bit before I can use the clippers with the other hand. Have it taped but it's awkward.

Janie, not sure how large you make your PB balls - but, when I make the PB cookies Miss Ellen can eat, I use a the large end of a melon scoop.  Makes them nice and uniform.

Two friends and I are going to a duo-piano concert tomorrow night. One of them is driving so I suggested they meet at my house for something to eat before we go.
Not planning to have everything decorated but have managed to get eating area and kitchen looking Christmasy.  #2 son is supposed to stop by later to help with "tall" things (he's 6'8" to my 5'2"  :) )

Weather is nice today and supposed to be that way most of the week.  Here's hoping the weather gurus are right!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

CALLIE, these balls have to be small enough to make a PB cup the size of a mini Reese's cup.  I've looked everywhere for a measure that size and so far have found nothing that works except my two hands.  And they're not very uniform.  I find myself taking a pinch of this one and adding a pinch to that one as I assemble.

I managed to finish about a third of them before I ran out of chocolate.  Thank goodness, it was still daylight out and I could make a run to the store to get more.  Of course, when I got back, Mickie needed a walk and the cold took all the get-up-and-go that I had left so we took a short nap then had supper and now the chocolate is on melt setting and I'm going to do one more shift tonight.  Tomorrow morning I'll bag what I have made and then (maybe) finish them when I come home from the movie tomorrow.

I forgot to say, I do have one of those melon ballers and it's perfect for making Moose Farts!

Better go check on the chocolate.  Later....maybe!

Thanks for he offer, LLOYD but it would have to have one of those moveable scrapers like the melon ballers have because this stuff tends to stick to stainless steel spoons and I'd be scraping each one out with my fingers. Scraping them out with my fingers would defeat the purpose of having the tool. And I'm afraid it would take longer than rolling them by hand.  I really do appreciate your offer, though!  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I have the rest of them rolled and I'm going to let them in the fridge overnight and assemble them in the morning and then I'll be finished with the PB cups.  I will have 226 of them!  And I'm always glad with they're finished.  However, I still have the coconut ones to do and they're even messier than the PB.

I'm off to Dreamland.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I do hate to be a whiner but yesterday I woke up with a stiff neck & have not had one of those for more than 30 years (since I quit using a pillow). Hurt through whole head, even to blink my eyes... and today head still hurts but also down in shoulders. This does not go well with a sort of stiff knee. I move like an old lady....  :tissue:

Today was my husband's mother's birthday and tomorrow my mother's.... called my BiL to tell him I was thinking of him... He is 11 years younger than I am but has had some heart problems as well as his cancers that keep cropping up. He does have very good friends but I feel bad that he doesn't have any family there.

Tomorrow I have to get myself in gear and do laundry & clean up the family room, decorate a little for Christmas. I did get the final check from the insurance company (has gone on since June 18).... and will pull up the 3 little messages sent by them asking "How did we do???"  Afraid I can't lie about what I think of being questioned about my honesty when I provided her with copies of the paperwork from when that roof was put on in 2006 and they paid for it then!!! Gets my BP up thinking about it, but it's over and for the roofer's sake, need to explain what she put us both through all these months. I will be very careful of my wording because I am so angry about it. One more job I hate to tackle.... gee, tomorrow sounds like a fun day, huh???

Supposed to be near 60 so will put the slide out & awning to make sure no water seeped in with the last rain.... wind blows so hard it drives rain in sideways (seriously). But that's kind of a fun job, I'll turn on the big TV & putter around. It is plugged into the garage power right now because I used the frig & freezer for the turkeys.... won't be long & time to go to the lake in MO again.  I run the generator every month to keep it working good.... never know when might need it to stay warm if power goes out.

Still thinking about making those crackers, Jane, but thinking is all I'm doing this week so far.

Gloria, when I first started wearing a Fitbit I was happy to get 10,000 steps a day & did it fairly often. Every year the steps drop & now I am really doing good to get 5,000. My kids get between 10,000-20,000 every day Now I focus on how much sleep I get.  ;D  ;)

Wishing all a gooooood night, sweet dreams and God Bless.  Shirley

WAIT!  What was that you said, AMY?  Did you happen to mention the word "finish" in conjunction with "Christmas Shopping"?  What happened to the word "START".  I think I better get on the ball!

Anyway, I wish you all a Good Mornng and a good rest of the day.  This is going to be a busy one arojnd here and I better get moving.  The dog food should be ready to mix and then feed soon.  The chocolate should be melted and ready for the rest of the pb cups to be assembled.  And I better get off this chair and onto my horse.

I'll try to check back later but today is going to be a busy day!  Boy I'm glad I don't have to work!

Good morning everyone, snowed all night and looks like 6 inches or so. Hard to tell from up here. I sure woke up every time they plowed the parking lot. I know the ones with the plow have more than one truck and the one here last night was loud.

AMY  hope you didn't get worn out with your "dancing"

JANE  hope the plumber was there early so you didn't have to wait too long. When has Tom Hanks not done a great job in a movie. He is one good actor, just about the only one not getting by on his looks.

PHYLLIS  I look out at the snow and appreciate the way it looks but I no longer have to shovel or drive in it. I do not go out for a walk in it either.

SHIRLEY  I could care less ho many steps I go a day, not many anymore, and seems lately all I want to do is sleep.

Have a good day.

The PB cups are finished!  The molds are all washed!  The measuring cups used to melt he chocolate are all washed dried and put away!  And the sticky has all been washed off the floor. I have about a half hour before I have to take a shower and get ready to go to the movie.

And in there somewhere, I made dog food, fed Mickie, took her out twice and mixed and baked some meat loaf patties.  Now, I'm going to go take Mickie for a real walk and then get myself ready for the movie.  My friend is picking me up at noon.

I wish you all a lovely day!

IT IS DONE!!! :nanadance:    Just have the wrapping to do and that is it!
We had a fun day, roads were clean and we left early and got to see the hoar frost on the trees. Trees and fields glistened ,could have drove for miles and miles just drinking in the scenery!
We are both filled with Chinese food ,no need to cook a big meal and we both may settle for a slice of butterscotch pie. :)

This has been one crazy day.....

I wrote my post but while I was doing it the internet went out and I could not get it to post.  I though S and F was down, so I copied my post and put it in a email message to myself.  Since it was my internet, I could not get into my mail and I thought I had lost my post in both places.  Hours later, low and behold my email finally came in and I got the message and now I will try to post it here.

Good morning, EVERYFRIEND ❣️

Not much to say today, but I did want to at least post a littl hello.

SHIRLEY, a stiff neck is the worse.....so I do hope yours is feeling much better today!  You are working much too hard, like you always do, but I understand ya just have to keep on moving forward😘😘

JANE, you, too, are working hard to get things taken care of, so I hope you enjoy the break to go to a movie!

GLORIA, not good when the snow removal truck is so noisy that it wakes you up!  We are FINALLY warming up a little and some of our ice is beginning to melt.  This is the worse we have experienced in many years.

AMY, happy shopping....smart of you two to get out early before the big crowds!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Jenny

I'm ready for a good night's sleep.  The movie was great and Tom Hanks did a very believable Mr Rogers.  It wasn't a movie to take the kids to but all of us who remember that show and watching it with our kids will enjoy it!

I didn't pack the PB cups but tomorrow is another day and since I don't have to go to work in the morning, that's when I'll pack the PB cups and maybe get the coconut ones started.

I'm picking up Frankie at 1 to go grocery shopping.  She says there's NOTHING to eat in her apartment.  So I guess it's time.  I don't need much but I'll get what I need while she does her shopping.  Tomorrow night she's spending the night here because Cathy is taking both of us to the Chiropractor on Thursday morning.  The doggies (Frankie's and my Mickie) will stay here and keep each other company.

Now I'm going to watch one show on TV and then hit the sack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Jane, have fun with Frankie today.......

Better get ready to meet the day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This is going to be a short one because Mickie is under the desk reminding me that it's time for her morning walk.  And I have to get dressed before I do that

We had more snow showers last night and it's laying but only in the grassy areas.  The roads are clear so my shopping trip with Frankie is still on.  I'm picking her up at 1.

Now I'm going to go get dressed and brave the cold to take Mickie for her walk and then I'm going to pack the pb cups when I get back.  One more thing done!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning everyone, no more of the CNA I cannot stand. Finally had a talk yesterday with the one who fixes the schedule. Finally understands I can not take those early morning hours. Well this morning I woke at 9:30.
Now I am having my coffee.

Saturday morning watching TV when a thing popped up saying Cox was updating the box-took 5 minutes. Dawned on me yesterday I have had no email come  in since during Friday night. Now I have to call Cox and find out why. TV keeps messing up, too.

Have a good day.

Good Morning,

Gloria,  Cox has been "messing with" my t.v., too.  "Data (on channels) no longer available" and I couldn't record anything.  That finally corrected itself but, "as of December 1st Netflix is no longer available on this device" and I don't know why that happened.  Fortunately, I can still get that on my Tablet. I don't watch much on Netflix but do enjoy some of the series.
The Home Page on my computer keeps changing format but, so far, nothing else has changed on the computer.

Last night, two friends and I went to a concert of semi-classical music by duo-pianists.  Our seats were located so we could see one of the keyboards.  I'll never understand how anyone's fingers can move that fast - particularly when they were both playing at the same piano.
Friends live in different parts of town so met here for a casual meal before one of them drove to the concert.  Menu was ham/noodle casserole, green beans, pickles and cookies.
'Twas a very enjoyable evening - and a rare treat for me to be out and about after dark.

Plan du Jour is to do a couple of errands and then tackle the desk work that's been piling up while I've been putting out Christmas decorations and preparing the meal for last night.  I had most of the things needed but I did have to Be Organized.  Getting lazy about that these days!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Hi again Everyfriend!  I have all the SPECIAL centers rolled and they're in the fridge waiting to be assembled. I'm hoping for later this afternoon or tonight before I cave in.

CALLIE, sounds like you had a lovely evening with friends!  We all need that now and then.

I'm off to pick up Frankie for our grocery shopping trip.  Mine won't take long but I'm thinking hers might.  Keep on keeping on!  Later gators

Snow is wet, almost to a rain here. Blood work was done and then we went out for tea/coffee.  Managed to get a hold a  handsome  hunk!!! A Burmese Mountain pup..6 months old was crossing the road with his owner as I was walking to a store. and the owner  bought the beautiful fluffy boy over. He was a well behaved pup and beautifully marked! When I tell Kyle about something like this he knows it is either a dog, horse  or beef cattle.

Shortbread cookies are done and put away...some even got put away in our tummies.....quality control you know. :)

Better go let the "pup" back in..

AMY, I have a past and current Granddog both of whom are Burnese Mountain Dogs.  And today, as I was letting Frankie out in front of her apartment, an 8 month old Bernese puppy came down the street.  He was a real sweetie and stopped to visit with us.  I took a picture and sent it to Cindy in Texas.  She's the one who owns and one owned the Bernese doggies..

I have the chocolate melting and that means I HAVE to do the assembling as soon a it finishes melting.

Are there cookies in the Hidey Hole?  I think I'll take a peek and see.  I could eat a cookie or two right about now!  Oh, yes, there they are!  Thank you very much!

Another productive day

First Project du Jour was to do a short business errand and then go to Wal-Mart. ( One of the church mission projects required a Walmart gift card and I decided those would do for my "helpers at home", too. Also needed to get items for a Mom in a shelter for domestic abuse whose name I'd picked from the church's Santa tree.)

I drove across the Walmart parking lot from west to east and didn't see any parking spaces within my walking distance from the door.  Went on to do the errand and then decided I might as well cruise across from east to west on the way home...expecting the same result.

Glory be!  A car pulled out of the space right beside the handicapped ones just as I was stopped for a pedestrian at the turn - and there were no "challengers" coming. So, in I went!  As I got out, I noticed a lady about my age nearby who was unloading things into her car. She was more than willing for me to take her cart, which meant I had something to hold on to while walking into the store.
Then....there were only 3 people ahead of me in the "20 or fewer items" checkout line. ;D

Mission accomplished with ease and in "record time"!!!

Second Project was to organize the stuff I'd been tossing on my office work table and see how much I could take care of.
Didn't get completely finished but, at least, I now have space to toss more stuff.

The one thing I didn't find at Walmart was a box of Christmas cards.  Not sure how many I'll send out but hope to make that a "recliner radish" project after dinner.

Off to see if Janie left a few cookie crumbs in the Hidey Hole.  ;)

Hey there all you happy people!  I'm here to say I'm joining you.  I'm going to be off to bed early this evening because I have to be on the road to the chiropractor tomorrow by 8:15 a.m.  What ever happened to that thing about retirees not HAVING to go anywhere?

CALLIE, how lucky can you get!  See what happens when you give it "one more try".  I also tried cleaning off my desk today but someone was in here when I wasn't looking and trashed it again.  They do that all the time!  If I could catch them I'd show them the door and then I'd lock it!

I got all the special cups (Rum, Mint, Raspberry) assembled today and when I get back from the dr. tomorrow, I plan on a short walk with Mickie, a short nap and a packing session.  I can't wait to get my fridge back!  Just one more big thing to do (Coconut Cups) and then I can decorate, wrap, bake and enjoy!

LLOYD! You be careful how fast you go in that scooter of yours.  You don't want to knock someone down with it.  Boy!  It sounds like you've got it made!

I'm dead tired tonight so I'm going to hit the hay early!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  If I don't get a chance to post before leaving for the dr.  please forgive me!  I'll post as soon as I can!

I too am going to hit the hay...

Jane, hope you enjoyed the cookies ,some with cherries some without.

Callie, doesn't it seem like you won the lottery when you get that parking space!!

Lloyd, good job......now as Jane says please be careful......we do need you in here and not popping wheelies on your new scooter!

Night..

Better late than never to come in to say goodnight!

We had a pretty busy day too, however nothing as interesting as making yummy things to eat and share or attending a nice piano concert or visiting with a fluffy, energetic young Burmese Mountain Puppy!  🥰

JANE, it appears you are fitting right in to the retirees day....running around and never seeming to be able to get everything done that you planned to accomplish😘. I know you will be up and at em tomorrow getting things wrapped up with the gifts that you make.  Hope the visit with the chiropractor goes well for you in the morning.

AMY, hope the results of Kyles bloodwork are good.  We did find out today that Michele will be having another Gamma Knife treatment in the next week or so.  As sad as I am that she has more cancer, I am just thankful they ca; hopefully take care of it with this treatment.

LLOYD, your new scooter and the ramp to get it on and off of your care sounds fantastic.  Enjoy.

GREAT NEWS, MARY ANN, getting rid of the CNA that you were not happy with.  Best of luck on the next one being a nice one you can work well with.

I am going to hit the hay....pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone woke early again but did not get much sleep, every time I get a good night seems like the next I am lucky to get 3 hours sleep.

CALLIE  did Cox update your area? They did here about a month ago and even changed the box and the remote, Saturday morning they updated the box and after that I am not getting email and I checked the outgoing mail and there are several in there that did not go out. I better call Cox later, should have called before this but I had to cool down. I was too angry to call and yelling at them would not work. Wish I could have been at that piano concert. I love piano music. I did take lessons when I was a child but I have no rhythm in me.

AMY  bet you would love to add that pup you saw to your fur family.

JANE  when you finish those coconut cups hope there are some for the hidey hole.Of course I love candy but really go crazy for coconut, even if it sticks between my teeth. Then an extra brushing is a good thing, right?

LLOYD  hope you are careful with that new 4  wheel scooter, no popping wheelies with it. Sure will help you so you do not have to so much walking now.

AMY I see you warned Lloyd about wheelies, too.

JENNY  it was me with the CNA not Mary Ann. I had a very nice one yesterday and a different coming today. Sure hope the PT helps my regular one. After 2 years with her we are in sync with each other.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone.
Wind from the north this morning with a temp of 23°.
Nothing important other than house hold chores and finish baking..I hope.

Gloria, yes, I would gladly take him, what is one more furkid :) Happy to see you have a CNA to your liking, will your regular one come back when she is able to?

Jenny, my goodness, Michele is being put through the paces with this. Thankfully something can and is being done. She is strong willed ,where as many are not.I do believe that attitude has a lot to do with it. Prayers continue for all.

Hope Joy and Phyliss  join in..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This is just a quickie to let you know I'm up and about and ready to go this morning.  Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration but I'm able to go.

I think Frankie needs a bit of pushing in the morning but I don't want to aggravate her by pushing too much.  She's just now getting in the shower.

I'm going to go take Mickie for a short walk to see if she can take care of business.

I'm here!  It's a beautiful morning and I really wish I didn't need to spoil the day by going grocery shopping but needs must (as our British cousins say).

Callie, Netflix has been announcing for a few weeks that as of Dec. 1st they are no longer showing on "older" Samsung Smart tvs or on Rokus.  I'm not sure what they consider "older", or if your tv is a Samsung, but, this link may help explain it

  https://www.engadget.com/2019/11/12/netflix-older-hardware-drm/

I tested it on both my Samsung tv and my Roku and they work, at least, for now, thank goodness.

Must go get breakfast.  Make it a good day.

Phyllis,  Thanks for the link.  I have both!  I "inherited" the Samsung t.v. from son/dil when they got a wall-hung t.v. and suspect that's the issue because it seems as if Cox fixed the Roku.

Wish I had something better to report as the Project du Jour than a dentist appointment.  However, there it is....  ::)

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Just have 2 cakes left to bake, 8 are now cooling on the table.
Seems we are in for more snow tomorrow and I hope it holds off till we pick up meds and extra milk etc.

Cooked up the hamburg for the furkids to have mixed in their meal and it is put away.

We also get to look after the "boy" next door on Sat so will thoroughly enjoy that. Just wish we could bring him here but with the exuberance of the pup we can't.

Sorry, son on phone ...

I am here but not doing well with this latest health issue... today the neck muscles only hold the head upright but if I want to look down or up or either side, must move the whole body. Even the mouth has trouble opening wide enough to put food in. Called the Dr's office & talked to his private nurse, she talked to him & reported back that "I'm doing all the right things so if it doesn't improve in a few days to call back." Guess I'll live but think I will head to Arby's for their Reuben sandwich/ meal. Only thing that sounds good & will be the 3rd Ruben this week.

This is not the REAL me that I'm dealing with and not pleased with how this old lady is operating. Lots to do before Christmas & today I should be raking the mounds of leaves under that sweet gum tree out front but it has dumped a million of those little spikey balls in with the leaves so I can't run them through the mulcher & don't think I can manage the bagging without. So sorry the guy I thought was going to be the answer to my prayers for hiring with these jobs turned out to not be comfortable to have him on week ends, since that is the only time he is in town. That was NOT the original talk with his first job & I am uneasy about his wife. Anyway, still my problem & not anyone I can hire right now. Sadly, both sons are totally swamped with their own jobs (even though one is retired, he has 3 paying jobs he enjoys & one he does free because he loves it...baby sitting his grands & hauling back & forth to school & other activities. He takes care of the 3 year old several days of the week...all day, but enjoys & doesn't think about staying up at night to do his computer work for 2 of the jobs. Anyway, other son called last night to catch up with me & is up to his ears with projects his company is doing. I am not good company this week & "eeking by" ..just realized I have not had lunch so that Arby's meal will be "Lupper" (lunch & supper) as my good neighbor used to call these days.

Thanks to all of you for talking about your worlds. Won't comment just now, may be back after I "fetch some food".

Shirley, this may be the time to find the Applied Kinesiologist.  I've found, over the years that, when a medical dr says "wait it out" or wants to give me meds, Debra can help me fix it.  I don't know what's causing your neck pain but if the dr. wanted me to wait it out, I know what I'd do.

I had my session with Debra today and it was one of the best ever!  I came home feeling much better about what had been causing some of the pains.  A while back I fell on my side and today she fixed it so I can take a deep breath without wincing.

Tomorrow, I have an electricion coming and he'll be working in the kitchen, one bathroom and one bedroom.  I've taken everything off the kitchen counter and stacked it o the dining room table so they can access the outlets.  They will all be changed because they are "not up to standard".  Maybe I won't knock out my fridge when I plug in two items in the outlet across from it.  But they're sure putting a cramp in the candy making!  I can't even bag while they're here because the table is loaded!  I have all the stuff set aside to do a major part of what's left to do after they leave but I don't know when that will be.

I'm all ready for bed but I think I'll go out and watch one episode of Home Improvement before I take Mickie out and then hit the sack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Jane, I just googled again & see there is an  Applied Kinesiologist not too far from me, I will call in the morning. Do you know if treatment is covered by Medicare?  I know my doc some years ago offered to send me to a chiropractor but at that time I didn't know of one I trusted. I've been to quite a few & found some just want to crack bones & others massage pain away. The ones I trusted are all dead now & I don't know anyone that goes to one anymore. Let you know how this works out. Thanks!

Oops, Sandy, I checked on Amazon for your cure & will keep it in mind but since this is now full blown through out my head (even hurts to move hair, like migraines of long ago)... don't think any cream will help. Before I go to bed I am going to take a B-1 vitamin (for nerve endings), have a bite to eat & chill out.I will check to make sure Callie cat is inside, she is too old to like being out all night anymore & I find her sitting at the front door any time I open it after they have their "midnight snack" & out to run for a while. I have given in to a number of no-nos lately, like bacon with it's nitrates & nitrites, stepping out without covering my head & something I never could get away with, plus eating other foods I shouldn't. Caught up with me! The kicker that reminds me of the migrains is finding it hurts to blink eyes & can't stand a hairbrush. Back in my teen age years of migraines I didn't worry about muscles drying up if not used & would sleep the pain off, or go ride a horse until I was numb & come home & basically pass out. My mom would let me sleep until I got up, she'd check on me & seemed to understand. I never took pain pills. Thinking back, I don't remember ever missing school so maybe a summer happening? ;)  We used going to the office for aspirin as an excuse to get out of class... couple trips for aspirin & then we'd look really in pain & "need to go home".  Lucky for us a big school & nobody called to see if we actually went home.  The principal liked us & would sign the pass as "monkeybusiness".

More snow falling, doesn't have to be dealt with now but later when it stops. Will go into town to pick up Kyle's meds, milk and hamburg that is on sale.

Will bake the shortbreads I made up and put in the fridge and frangipane tarts. I hope I hide those well or I am in trouble! Gosh they are good!

Jane, all this work will be worth the inconvenience of the moment.

Enjoy your  day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm not sure if it's daylight out there yet but Mickie and I did our morning stroll and now we're waiting for the boinger for breakfast.

SHIRLEY, this should be covered by Medicare but some don't. Debra told me some don't want to be bothered with the paper work involved with Medicare and just offer you a discount instead.  Ask up front!

I'm in waiting mode this morning.  I can't get involved in anything until the electricians come and go.  I think they said they would be here by 8 am and that's pretty soon so we shall see.

LLOYD, I've asked the doggies numerous times to rub my back but they prefer it if I rub their backs.  Most of the time there's no one to rub anything on my back but I found a roll on that I can use to reach almost anywhere.  The middle part is still elusive but I can get relief most of the way up and down my back.  And SHIRLEY's Epsom salts back treatment does the best job ever!

Guess I better check around and see f there's anything else I can clear up for the "guys" before they get here.

I wish you all a lovey day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning!  A little cloudy this morning with rain predicted for this afternoon.  My head agrees but that is OK since I don't plan to go out anywhere today.  I got the grocery shopping done yesterday and I'm so thankful that I got through that.  Needed lots of things and, also, I am trying to buy a few things ahead for Christmas.  The checker was a really nice young lady....so pleasant to talk to and on top of that, she was really fast.  Brightened my shopping day a lot!!!

Shirley, I'm so sorry about your neck and head and hope the treatment gives you a lot of relief.   I wish the same for all of you who are suffering with the aches and pains.  I wish that none of us had them but they seem to come with the territory, don't they?

I'm ready for breakfast and think I'll allow myself to have a second cup of coffee to go with it.  I'm feeling very daring.   ::)

Good morning everyone, hope you are all fine and dandy. After not sleeping
Wednesday night I had trouble getting to sleep again last night. I ended up coming in here and turning on the TV to the Me channel and lay down on the couch, fell asleep for a good 6½ hours.

AMY  the 2 CNAs I had the last 2 days were great, not just sitting and talking. Last time I talked to the one I miss she was starting PT this week and if that works and as long as she does the exercises at home, too, she will be back the beginning of January. Oh I sure hope she does.

JANE  do you feel like you are retired yet? Or do you feel like you have less time for yourself? Of course it is a busy time of year for you with all the cooking you have been doing.

PHYLLIS  I would go to the market any time my son asks me. One chore I always liked.  Does that make me weird?

AMY  a call from your son always comes first.

SHIRLEY  prayers for you to feel better PDQ. I know what it feels like when you know things need to be done and are just not up to doing much of anything.

JANE  now you tell us you fell. When was that? Glad you are "fixed up" now. Glad you found someone to help you. I would love to find someone to work on my back.

LLOYD  that Absorbine jr.  is an oldie. Didn't know they still made it.

AMY  frangipane? I thought that was a flower. Just what is it? A pastry?. Ne and my sweet tooth want to know, not that I can make anything anymore.

PHYLLIS  glad your shopping is done and you will eat for another week.

Internet coughing & spewing today... all over the country. My daughter just called to say she discovered e-mails she thought had gone out were in her "draft" folder. I am able to read one post & all stops & at the tops it says, "Google not responding".

Lloud, my grandmother always used Absorbine Jr all the years I remember... she died at 96 with I was in my early 30s. I will buy some next time I need a muscle fix up, I always thought I am just like my "Grandma" so if it worked for her maybe it will work for me. I think you are smart having the new locks installed & security cameras. My family have the door bells that ring on their smart phones & can see who is around their house no matter where they are in the world! I would love to have that but afraid I'd be so frustrated trying to learn how to operate! Me & my phone don't get along too well on the simple things!

Jane, I had a close look at the Applied Kinesiologist site & it closed at noon today (okay, I want instant help) ::)   My daughter is happy with this choice & I did see that this clinic does accept Medicare & Blue Cross (that I have), even mentions they are happy to have X-rays & other medical reports brought in.. so that helps with no duplicates.  But, I will have to wait until next week for this. I am so much better right now than I was last night I am all but singing & dancing. I had to use a straw to drink water to take a Bayer this morning & last night (could not tip my head up to drink). Naturally have that feeling of guilt my BP is so hight & I don't take the blood thinners normal heart patients take... don't want a blood clot or stroke but... still do think I need a round of antibiotics for the gunk in my head. That Z-pack I've had the last 5 years (several times) did not help at all, but the Dr always thinks it's best. I put this poor doctor in a bad spot by insisting of doing my way, but I'm not willing to have any more severe reactions with meds. I am more afraid of taking than not so hope I'm not wrong. I will give this guy a try as quick as I can get in. Thanks again.

Gloria, so happy to see your latest CNAs have been better, you do sound more relaxed. Thanks for the good thoughts. I honestly do believe the prayers said by ALL of this Senior Family are heard and answered (sometimes not the WAY we hope for but realize was for the best, right?)

Before my internet shuts down completely I better shut up & post. As soon as people start getting off work & all week end, we do not get enough band width (so my techie family tells me) it is near impossible to keep attached. The kids tell me the whole internet is on overload with shopping right now, since I only give money & gift cards.... I don't shop!

Is The X In Xmas Offensive?

Why Is "Christmas" Abbreviated As "Xmas"?

Here's a holiday surprise that only the dictionary can provide. Do you find the word Xmas, as an abbreviation for Christmas, offensive? Many people do, but the origin of this controversial term might change your mind!

You won't find Xmas in church songbooks or even on many greeting cards. Some people associate Xmas with the holiday as a commercial, secular occasion instead of as a particular cultural and religious ritual.

Where did Xmas come from?
But, the history of the word Xmas is actually more respectable—and fascinating—than you might suspect. First of all, the abbreviation predates (by centuries) its use in gaudy advertisements. It was first used in the mid-1500s.

X represents the Greek letter chi, the initial letter in the word Χριστός (Chrīstos). And what does Χριστός mean? "(Jesus) Christ." X has been an acceptable representation of the word Christ for hundreds of years. (And why would people need to abbreviate Christ? Well, the word is very widely written.)

Other abbreviations for Christ include Xt and Xp, the P here representing the Greek letter rho, source of our letter R. A stylized version of the Greek chi (X) and rho (P) is ☧, a symbol of Christ called a Christogram.

In the same vein, the dignified terms Xpian and Xtian have been used in place of the word Christian.

Where does the –mas in Christmas come from?
The –mas in Xmas comes from the Old English word for mass, as in a church service, especially one in the Roman Catholic Church including a celebration of the Eucharist. That word, mæsse, is believed to have been derived from Church Latin missa, ultimately from Latin mittere which means "to send (away)." It was perhaps derived from the concluding formula in the Latin mass, Ite, missa est, meaning "Go, it is the dismissal!" That is, the service is over.

This has been an interesting day...I didn't get the baking done but I did manage not to blow my top :tickedoff:  We were out cleaning up the snow when I noticed something wrong....I had broke a sheer pin, assumed it was from a stone. Brought the snow blower in and replaced the sheer pin. Not an easy spot to work in plus you are bent over in the shape of a pretzel!! Out I go, finish the front part  that Kyle had shoveled over into a windrow and headed to the back. Hear the first bang, a piece of wood thanks to the pup.....thought I had caught it in time  then another bang...this time I sheard off two pins. Repairing the first one was easy but the second was really difficult considering the pin was still in and I had to get it out. After some (a LOT of  muttering) a cup of tea, I managed to hit it out. Kyle  looked at me and said well you still love Jessie don't you?
Can't help but chuckle at the day...if the snow hadn't covered the wood up I would have seen it. Now I will walk the runway just to make sure no surprises lay buried. Tomorrow must be a better baking day anyway..after I hang laundry out.

It is so nice to catch up on everyone's messages.  We are missing the normal snowfall from home - in Tucson, AZ.  It can snow her though and that is beautiful with snow on red rocks.  Our oldest son is arriving for several weeks so that will be great.  He likes to fix anything to stay busy and he will probably help our friend who now deals with macular degeneration and needs some care.  Other children will be here later in the Spring.

A friend has pain from Spinal Stenosis and chiropracter treatments are not helping.  Any great ideas out there?  I should say those treatments seem to help a short period of time.  The shot did not help at all and there is a three month wait before they will try the lazer guided shot again.   sigh......

Wishing all pain relief and comfort.

Bubble, that was a very interesting article and I have to admit that it has changed my mind a bit when it comes to Xmas abbreviation.  However, I still prefer the full spelling of Christmas.  Maybe that's because I'm not Greek and I don't live in the 15th century and I like being reminded of the reason for Christmas.  I have seen that stylized PX thing and I've even wondered about it.  I'm going to copy your entry and take it to church with me on Sunday.  I think there are many who need to see it.

The electrician/plumber guys were here quite a while this morning and they got a lot done.  I don't think I mentioned that this is a state program designed to help seniors and disabled people stay in their homes safely for a longer time.  When I applied, I didn't think I would qualify but I did and it's great!  The guy who runs it for this county is a real gem!

I didn't get any candy done today...not even bagged because I moved everything off the kitchen counters onto the dining room table so they would have easy access to the outlets in the kitchen.  After they left and I started putting things back, I found that just staying out of the way was a tiring job.  Tomorrow, I'll get an early start!

CAROL, enjoy your visit with your son.  And a later one with other kids.  Too bad you're missing all that Colorado snow...NOT!  I can't imagine that a snowfall in Tucson would be as confining as what is happening in Colorado!

AMY, the joys of owning our furry friends, or should I say of our furry friends owning us because they do.  I probably said this before but I told people often "My dogs own the house.  They just let me live there because I tend to their needs."  If I didn't tend, they'd throw me out and get someone who does."  They all thought it was funny but it's really true!  Sorry about your problems but like Kyle said, "You still love him, don't you?"

I guess I better get ready to hit the hay if I want to get anything done tomorrow and I'm really hoping to FINISH tomorrow.  That means doing the coconut cups and packing everything ready to give.  Wish me luck!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, a brr 19° now at 7:30, wonder how cold it was earlier. First time it has gone into the teens so far. Did I sleep through the rest of autumn and wake in winter?

LLOYD  smart move changing locks and getting the cameras. You know by now that some people believe that rules are meant for everyone but them and will always do what they want. Stay safe my friend.

AMY  those tarts sound like something I would like a lot. Leave it to a son to rub it in about the temperature where he was at the time. Sound like something both of my sons would do. My daughter would just say it was warm or cold and let it go at that.  I didn't realize your first post was a small font, I read it OK.

SHIRLEY  I have some email I thought went out last Saturday in my outbox.  Maybe it is Google and not Cox? Now how would one go about getting in touch with google? I dislike being on a phone. Here when Cox did an update on the new box they put in  last Saturday morning is when I stopped getting my email. I agree, prayers might not bring the answer we want but things always seem to work out for the best.

BUBBLE  wow who knew? I always disliked Xmas, always thought people were to lazy to write Christmas. Think a lot of others feel the same way. Then I also thought of years ago when so many could not read or write and signed their names with an X. Thank you. I copied it and when I get my email back I will be sending it out.

AMY  you must be a mechanic as well as all your other titles.. I have no idea what a shear pin is and have no intention of learning.

CAROL  Tuscan is warmer than in the mountains near Kingman where my daughter  and SIL now live. He lived all his life in San Diego and is getting used to the colder temperatures. My daughter even taught him how to make a snowman, she said it was about 12 inches high, not enough snow to make it bigger.

JANE  you and I both feel the same as others I will still prefer Christmas not Xmas.

AMY  I remember the days of hanging clothes on the line and having items freeze to the line before I could get a clothes pin on them, and the freezing fingers, too. I still miss the smell and feel of them when the dried. Cute graphic.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for a couple of hours and Mickie has had her outies, her pill, her breakfast and a nice long walk.

I have gumdrop fudge cooling in the fridge.  Don't ask me any questions about it because this is the first time I've ever made it.  I'll let you know if it's the last time I'll ever make it.  I have the oven heaing to do peanuts for the guys.  They never say if the like them but one year I didn't make them and 2 of them said, "Hey Mom! Did you forget the peanuts?".  I told them I ran out of time but I made them every year since.  I guess guys just eat what you give them and miss it when you don't.

This afternoon I'm going to put the Christmas music on, sit down and roll coconut ball for the coconut cups.  I've put that job off as long as I can.  Now I'm telling myself to "get going" but in a much firmer tone.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good afternoon.

It is a pretty sunny day, but cold.

I know I have been missing for a few days, but I had a kind of frustrating week.  Had a doctor's appt. went to the Dollar store, and then a couple of very long phone calls trying to get a couple things straightened out.

One person I talked to at Amazon was in Puerto Rico and I was on the phone for over an hour.  This gal was so patient, and I thought I would never understand what she wanted me to do. It wasn't really a language problem, I just kept messing up and would have to start all over.  But, she stuck with me.  Then, had another similar incident with another problem. That wasn'y quite as bad.  But, by the time I was finished, I was exhausted.  Yesterday, I did not do anything. !

Hoping this coming week will be better.

Tomorrow, Sunday, I am supposed to go to Breakfast with Santa with 2 of my little great-granddaughters, and I am really looking forward to that.  Hope it all works out like it is supposed to.  One of out county's Volunteer Fire Co. puts it on and it is an AYCE breakfast with everything.  I have been before and I know it is good. My son and grandson get their money's worth at these AUCE places.   They also have a small Holiday craft show, so I might be able to pick up a couple small gifts.

I, also, do not like using "XMAS" in place of Christmas.

Jane, I told you that you would be so busy after you stopped work.  You make me tired just hearing all you do.  I don't think I am going to be able to do any cookies this year.  I usually make the sugar cookies that you push out of a  cookie gun, and I just can't stand very long anymore.  I have tried making them sitting down, and that just doesn't work. You can't get the leverage right.  I make the ones that come out in a long strip and you just cut them into pieces. The recipe makes a lot and I have been making that kind for years. My family will miss them.  Unfortunately, neither of my DIL are into cooking, so they are no help.  And, I don't have any grand daughters around, and the little ones are too little yet. I did get a recipe from a friend where you make the dough into balls and flatten them with a glass dipped in sugar.  I am thinking I could probably make them sitting down.  I am still trying to convince myself to try.  It would probably do me good to try, and I might not feel so lazy getting something done.  I just find it easier to sit and read or nap.

Maybe I will try your way of putting some Christmas music on and that would help.

I need to get a little bit of lunch.

Hope everyone is having a great day, so far.

Joy

Hi Everyfriend!  The coconut balls are all rolled and waiting in the fridge for tomorrow when they will be made into coconut cups and that's the last of the that kind of candy.  My plan for tomorrow is church first, then home to finish the candy, pack it all up that needs packing and fill the family and friends bags with goodies.  And if my energy holds out, I'll mix and refrigerate the gumdrops for cutting on Monday.  They take overnight in the fridge to get to the working point.  In the meantime, I'll change the dining room table into a real table and start getting my decorations out.

And somewhere along the way, I'll pack my boxes for Texas and Oklahoma.  Maybe I'll even get them in the mail!  Not tomorrow, tough!

I'll let you all know how that plan works out.  Oh yes, the gumdrop fudge is pretty good.  I haven't decided if it's "more-ish" yet but we'll see.  It's certainly petty enough, though.

I haven't even thought about baking yet but I have promised Moose Farts for Cathy's annual Christmas Eve open house.  We had some fun with them last year and I'm thinking it will be fun again this year.

I think I better take Mickie out and get myself ready for bed before I fall over.  I'm draggin' a bit tonight.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Strangely, it seems to be effecting a lot of things.  I have been getting Birthday Greetings today that were sent a week ago on Face Book and they are just now appearing.

My picture today is my Grandson Jonah taken yesterday on his FIRST Birthday.

I do not have much to say....just that I hope you all are doing well and having a good nght of rest .

Pleasant dreams to all.

I'm here, Amy.  Thank you for thinking about me.  Yesterday went a little downhill.  Didn't feel too good last night but after a good night's sleep I feel better today.  The sun is shining so that helps but rain is supposed to come in tonight.

The town picked up the leaves yesterday that had been moved to the curb...and there were huge mounds of them all up and down the street...but more have come down and will have to be blown out to the curb for a future pick-up.  David just looks at the yard with a despairing sigh.  :-\  I keep reminding him that it is not snow.  I remember when we lived in upstate New York, Tom would shovel huge amounts of snow and just as he finished, the snow plow would come by and push up more big piles to be shoveled.  He would just stand for a minute and shake his head and then go back to shoveling.  Poor guy.

We're having a good Beef Stew today. I managed to put it together in the Crock Pot and put it in the fridge overnight.  It will slow simmer all day and we will have it later this afternoon.  One of our favorites along with some good bread and some kind of dessert.
Think I might make a sweet biscuit and put some cherry filling in it and on it.  Quick and easy.

Take care, Everyone.

Good morning everyone, the sun is shining bright and it is a freezing 12° at 8:45 am. My son was here yesterday for his weekly visit and had a surprise, his oldest daughter was with him. She is  the one who just moved into my old apartment in his house. She looks so happy to be living with family, she is 41 and has been on her own since she was 20. I know she is one who will keep the apartment spotless, not like what my DIL's brother did. It cost my son over $3,000 to clean and replace almost every thing in the apartment.  She wants nothing to do with her brother anymore.

AMY  you really didn't have to send your freezing cold temperature here.  One thing it is good for-killing a lot of bugs and germs in the air.

JANE  if I was closer I would help you with rolling the coconut balls. Of course a couple of them might disappear into my mouth even before the chocolate.

JOY  like you I cannot do much in the way of cooking sitting down. I tried many times. I tried sitting to iron but could not do that either.

JANE  with all the fudge I used to make I never heard of gumdrop fudge before. If I had a recipe for that even 6 years ago I would have  tried making it.

JENNY  it ha been a week since I got any email, that is very unusual.

PHYLLIS  I remember coming home from work and having to shovel to get into my parking spot. Just as I finished there comes the plow again and I swear the guys in the truck were laughing because I had to start all over again.

LLOYD  I feel bad for you and what you are going through. Just shows you can never trust anyone, best friends or family either.

Have a good day.

Gloria, I was looking through my little red book a few days ago and I decided that I have your old phone number unless you kept the same one when you moved.  When you get your email going again, would you clear this up for me?  Also, since you're going to be sending me a phone number, would you include an address and your son's first name?  I don't remember you ever using it on this site and it would be nice to know.

I went to church, came home and took Mickie for a nice walk.  Then I put the chocolate on to melt and I'm having another cup of coffee while I wait.  Shouldn't be too long.

GLORIA, I never heard of gumdrop fudge either until I ran across this recipe.  It was really easy to do and it's really pretty for the holidays.  I saved some of the red gumdrops to make it again for Valentine's day and some green ones for Easter....MAYBE.  The verdict is still being pondered.  No final decision.  Maybe I'll go eat a piece now and ponder some more.

CAROL, I'll be over for supper.  It sounds sooooo good!

Keep on enjoying your day, Everyfriend!  I'm off to the "salt mines"...

Jane, I'll set a plate for you.

Lloyd:  You are not a Bad Penny - I hope you get some rest and peace over the holidays.

I worked on all the quiz answers but saw that most of my answers were already "taken" so I did not post in the quiz.  We will be with two of my cousins for Christmas Eve and that will be wonderful  They live in Minnesota and one pulled his RV here this week.  He was driving in New Mexico and somewhere at a stop, someone stole two tire bolts.  Cousin Jim was driving when one wheel fell off and then a 2nd. wheel.  They had great emergency help but ended up staying at a business for five days (in a small town).  The people were great - they let Jim hook-up to electricity and drove them to the grocery store, all sorts of good gestures.  That is the Christmas story for this year.

For a day of rest, I think I have done enough work!! This afternoon Scottish shortbreads and 4 doz Frangipane tarts were made. My feet are going to go rest..

Carol, how lucky they were in no one got hurt!! Wonder can they have lock bolts like car tires do?? There are lots of wonderful people out there when you need a hand. Once when travelling we went to PEI not knowing no camp grounds were open that early  The man at the store told us to pull around back and hook up and another man said to go to his place down the road and hook up...neither one of them knew us but the hospitality was great.

Lloyd, I hope you can get the photo of your plant posted. Would love to see it in bloom!! Mine only has 3 blooms on it. :(

Jane, can you just imagine if we all got together for a pot luck meal?? What fun we would have enjoying all the goodies......wonder if they make really stretchy slacks ??

Gloria, we are to  get rain tomorrow and hubby wants ot head to the city after getting his feet done....we will see how it goes.

Phyliss, hope today is a much better day for you. Everything is covered in snow at the moment but with rain on the way we may be down to bare ground again.

AMY, I don't know about the "stretchy pants" but a Muumuu would work.  Lots of room under there!

CAROL, thanks for dinner.  That really hit the spot!  You're a good cook and even better company.

I got all the coconut cups done today and the special bags for special people packed, labeled and in the back room with the rest of the packed stuff.  Unfortunately, after another walk with Mickie, cleaning up, the kitchen, washing all the utensils and packing them away, and washing the chocolate off everything in the kitchen, I didn't have any energy left to do anything else. I made some dinner, fed Mickie and turned on the TV.  After I ate, I don't remember what happened but the next time I looked at the clock it was 8 o'clock.  So I got into my jammies and took the rest of the night off.

GLORIA, I have about 8 coconut cups that didn't pass quality control.  If you were here, you could race my granddaughter to take them off my hands.

Tomorrow, I have to bag the trash and get my big can ready for pickup on Friday and take the other stuff up to my son's dumpster.  After I deposit it in the dumpster, I'll pick up Frankie and Cooper-dog to come over here and "hang out" for a while.  Maybe she'll help me pack the mixed bags.  If she doesn't, I won't feed her.  Yeah, right!

I have to do some book work tomorrow, too.  Or maybe I'll sit here and do that tonight. I'm a little "wishy-washy" right now but I'll get better at thinking as I move along.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Good Morning Everyfriend! We got up 15 minutes before the alarm went off this morning.  Mickie's been out and had her pill and the coffee just finished in the kitchen.  Be right back....

OK, I have my coffee and now where are my thoughts?

I just noticed a picture of Robby in the margin.  I think of him all the time.  I often wonder if he was analyzing all of us or just enjoying himself.  Either way, he sure was a special guy!

Now, where was I.  My thoughts sure are wandering this morning.  While I was in the kitchen, I started the dog food so that when the pill wait time is up, Mickie can have her breakfast.

Also, I think I might have gone to the wrong house for dinner last night.  It was a good dinner but I was expecting PHYLLIS's beef stew.  PHYLLIS, were there leftovers?  I'll be over today.  Are we having them for lunch or supper?

AMY, have a safe (and fun) trip to the city, whatever city it is!

Guess I better get moving if I want to be ready to take the trash and pick up Frankie.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Barely enough stew left for another meal for David, Jane.  Next time I make a stew I'll keep it a secret for just you and me and we can have all we want before anyone else knows about it.  ::)

I woke up to a foggy morning here.  Very mysterious looking.  We had a little rain yesterday evening with more coming...so they say.

David went Christmas "looking" yesterday afternoon and he said the shopping center was really busy.  I'm glad I do my shopping on line now and by check.  I couldn't handle the traffic or the crowds though I do miss seeing the colorful decorations.

Laundry day again.  The days go by so quickly.  Hope your days are all good ones.

Good morning everyone, woke late a bit after 8 but was still awake after 1:am. I am getting tired of nights like that. Warmer than yesterday 37° and raining.

JANE  I think I have your phone number but will have to hunt for it. Most likely I will send you a PM in here. Later, depends what time a CNA gets here today. I have 2 email addresses but use gmail and that is the one not working. Yesterday on Skype I asked my daughter to send me an email on the other one and it came through. I will send that one to you.

LLOYD  one thing I found out about a Christmas cactus is if it is blooming leave it where it is, don't move it. I did that a couple of times and the flowers and buds fell off in less than a day. You are not a bad penny, just a kind trusting man with a Judas who was a false friend.

CAROL  there are bad people like the ones who stole the bolts but then there are more good ones like those helping your cousin.

AMY  I night have mentioned it before but there is a Christmas cactus in the community room here, maybe I should say a crazy one. It blooms several times a year, Easter and Christmas being 2 of them. It gets loaded with blooms and it is surprising to see it blooming in the middle of summer. I noticed it is never moved, not even turned around and it is in a huge pot. We have rain in the forecast for the next 3 days. A pot luck with all of us would be wonderful. I don't cook but I could supply something. All I would need to wear is a pair of my old pants I no longer wear because they will not stay up.

JANE  hmm wonder if I could win a race with my rollator against your granddaughter. Maybe we  could agree to split  them?

PHYLLIS  I would not be able to even like getting into the crowd of shoppers anymore. At one time I did enjoy  it.

Have a good day.

GLORIA, don't worry about having to beat out Frankie.  She's a sharer and she'd even bring you the last one!  All you have to do is ask!

PHYLLIS, I won't tell if you don't.  We'll just share together.  Shall we invite your son?

I just came in here to look up my recipe for hot mustard. I need to make some today....maybe.

Better get on the ball!  Sorry, AMY, I can't "put an egg in my boot..."  I need the eggs for the mustard and maybe cookies later.

Well, I took that ride over to Photos and forgot to come back here.  Did get to the Dr today for X-ray & blood work, hope we can figure what this latest problem is, I'm sure tired of hurting all over, even in bed.  Turned bitter cold, winds piling up the leaves in mounds... strong winds that kept the chill index way down. Cats are all inside. Hope all of you are warm and snug for the night. Sweet dreams and God Bless!  Shirley  :snowball:  :stars:

Here I am checking in again at a very late hour....

Bob and I did not sleep well at all last night, so we are both more than ready to head off to bed.  Not sure why, but the alarm was set to get us up at 6 so that we could get down to Dave's Home in time for Michele to leave and get to her MRI appointment and the fitting of the mask for her upcoming Gamma Knife procedure this coming Friday.

We took the two youngest ones to their school....one goes within a couple of miles, but the other goes to a school quite a bit further....as we were dropping the furtherest one, the oldest grandson called us and said he was not feeling well so could we pick him up?  Sure glad we did not have anything else scheduled🤣🤣

We picked him up and then went to a breakfast place as we had not had anything and Matt said the school nurse was concerned that he had a blood sugar drop.....he is not a know diabetic, but she felt his symptoms were eluding to that.  He ate a good breakfast and was feeling much better when we took him home.  I sure hope he does not have diabetes.

I do hope EVERYFRIEND has a good night of rest and pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone,  54° rain stopped for now but supposed to start after noon again then sometime after midnight it will turn to snow and snow most of tomorrow. Glad I do not have to go anywhere. Would need someone with me to get my jacket on. I have to spread everything on the bed and sit and reach back for the sleeves. Can no longer stand up to put anything on except a hat when it is cold and windy. Talk about feeling useless these days.

JANE Nice to know that Frankie is a sharer, so am I but I would never ask either. My Mother raised me to never ask for anything when going to a friend's house. Even at my daughter  or son's house I would not ask for anything, silly I know but can still hear her  voice telling me that is a no no. You do remind me of all the baking and candy making I used to do for Christmas. Would have been easier to go shopping and buy something. But then I always liked getting something home made, means more I think, made with love. Right?

SHIRLEY  I seldom check Photos since I no longer have a camera and don't take anything to post there. Since I no longer do PSP I keep forgetting to check there either and am ashamed of myself. I know how it feels to do all those creations and no one looks or says anything. I know when we did the birthday greetings and notify the birthday person, either they did not bother to look  or never said anything. Like you I am tired of being in pain so know what you are feeling.

LLOYD  moving your Christmas cactus for a few minutes might do nothing to it but when I moved mine the room I put it in was warmer and might have done something to it too.

JENNY  looks like your grandson should be tested for diabetes. Don't you have the testing kit?

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Mickie and I are waiting out the boinger but I have to go out there and make coffee in a minute.  Then I have to start my day's activities.  My friends and I are going to the movies this afternoon.  She'll be picking me up around 2 so I have some time to accomplish something.

Since I didn't get the candy packing done yesterday, that's first on my agenda today.  Or maybe I'll mix the sand tarts first and then pack.  I didn't get the mustard made either and all the stuff is sitting on the counter.  Maybe I better do that first.  Boy!  I'm really wishy washy today!  I better get with it or Christmas will creep in and I'll miss it.

Waiting to see LLOYD's photo.  I've never tried to grow a Christmas Cactus.  My growing skills are such that I just don't think it's fair to the Cactus.

Gloria, if you were here and Frankie said directly to you, "There's on coconut cup left. Would you like to have it?" Would your mother all you to say "yes"?  If she wouldn't, I think that's one time you should defy your mother and not hurt Frankie's feelings.  Because it would do that!  So when are you coming over?

JENNY, I hope that school nurse is totally wrong about your grandson!

I better get moving.

OH! There's June in the margin!  I really miss her but I bet there was rejoicing in Heaven!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Managed to score some fabic at the quilt stop, bet that didn't surprise anyone :) It has birds on it in panels and then bought matching fabric to go with it.

Today is finish up cookies and clean,, sure hope my energy wakes up soon to work with me.

Shirley, hope they find your problem  and soon for you.

Jane ,wow you have a lot on your agenda today.

Gloria, the rain has taken away most of our snow and we are to get more rain today.

Lloyd, smart move to hold the couch down.....enjoy every minute!!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Got two boxes packed and ready for the P.O.  Managed to get most of the individual bags of candies packed and labeled.  I'm down to a half shelf in the fridge that's nothing but candy.  I actually have room for some REAl food!  But only until I mix the gumdrops.  They need to sit flat in the fridge until they are set...sometime tomorrow.

LLOYD, maybe I'll try a Christmas Cactus for next Christmas.  When do you think I need to plant it?  And how big does the pot have to be?  You see, I'm not a good gardener.  But my daughter is and I'll draft her to help me.  It wouldn't dare not grow for her.

SHIRLEY, how are you today?  I'm thinking about you and saying a few prayers, too.

Next on my agenda is a shower and some decent clothes for travelling to the movie with friends.  Also lunch in there somewhere.  I need to make a trip to the grocery store, too.  I'm out of 1/2 amd 1/2.  Also need a couple gift cards.  Guess I better get moving.

LLOYD, pick me up on the way to Amy's.  I like cheese, too!

Tis a windy day out there now. Lots of ice about from the rain now also. Finished dipping, baking and rolling this morning. Now need to get at wrapping gifts.

Jane, we have found a new favourite in garlic red pepper curds..oh my are they tasty. The cheese that Kyle likes in Old Sharp, it is one of the cheese that can be spread at room temp. Ours never lasts that long to test the theory.
Have a fun girls day out ..

The movie was funny and a bit touching!  It was called "Playing With Fire" and the kids who were in it were very good!  We laughed a lot.  Then we stopped at an Ollies outlet on the way home and I bought a bag of potato chips and a gadget that sits on the divider of a double sink and holds "stuff".  My friend got what she needed and then we came home.

I have the green stuff for the gum drops in the fridge and let it set up overnight.  I'll cut them in shapes and sugar them tomorrow.  One of the things I have to get at the store is red jello.  I thought I got it but I got the sugar free and you can't use that for the gumdrops.

Tomorrow is another day!  I'll take the two boxes that are ready for sending to the PO and then stop at the bank and then the grocery store and then home to cut green gumdrops and mix red ones.  Also, pack the box for Texas and make AMY's hot mustard.

AMY, the cheese sounds sooooo good.  I never heard of the garlic and red pepper curds but if it's hot and spicy, it's right up my alley.  Kyle's fav sounds good too.

My sister sent me a message this morning that her granddaughter is going home this weekend and I might consider going with her.  I could have a visit with my sis and brother and then come back on Sunday when Bethany comes back.  It would be good for all of us because I could drive to Bethany's college and she'd drive my car to my sister's and her sister would pick her up there instead of having to drive an hour and a half to come get her and bring her back.  I'm trying to decide if I can exchange 3 busy days at home for a leisurely visit with my sis and I'm leaning toward a "yes" on that one.  I haven't seen them since August and that was just a short visit on the way home from a family reunion.

The weather is the big thing that's holding me back but it's not supposed to snow.

Now I'm off to bed.  Tomorrow is going to be a humdinger!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, 32° and it is snowing. Looks like it is coming down fast. Doesn't look like it started at midnight because the ground is hardly covered. Yesterday all the weather guessers made it sound that by now we would be having inches of it. Of course with all the rain yesterday and the temperature dropping I imagine the roads are icy. I will be worried about my son driving today. I wish he would retire, he is 67 but I think he is happier at work than at home. Oh well who am I  to tell him what to do. Only his Mom who loves him. No CNA showed up yesterday and had no call either. Got a call late afternoon telling me I would have one today IF the roads were OK. I told her I am getting tired of no help on Fridays. She didn't know I had 2 hours 5 days a week. Terrible to put someone into a job with really no time to learn what she is supposed to do. Guess she never had time to read all the files. This company is supposed to be the best around.

JANE  what movie did you see yesterday? I would tell Frankie to cut  that last coconut cup in half and share it.

LLOYD  you are getting like me, I do not want to go out in the winter anymore. Of course like I say I have no more fat to hold the heat in because I lost so much weight. Find some good old western movies and stay inside.

AMY  it poured here all day yesterday. Just heard on the TV we are in for more rain Saturday. All the rain so far is not doing me any good but if it was all snow we would be snow up to the first floor windows here.

LLOYD  I agree, an east window is best for plants. All I now have is windows facing south west. In summer keep the shades down to try and keep some of the sun's heat out.

JANE  hope you use the post office boxes to mail all those goodies. Plain boxes cost more to send-by weight and distance. Go visit your sister. As we get older the days of visiting get less and less. A few days of not working at all the cooking you have been doing will be good.

Just  checked out the window and the ground is now covered and the maintenance man Paul is cleaning the snow from the entry.
Time for another cup of coffee.

Have a good day

Need to nip into town for a few things then wrap some gifts. That should be it other than tidy up in here..

Gloria, please don't send the  snow this way, I don't mind you not sharing :) I know what you mean about worrying about sons on the road, mine is on his way home and should be back tomorrow if all goes well.

Well, I'm going to try this again and hopefully, I won't lose it.

It's been quite a time beginning about 11 last night.  I went out with Mickie and she beat me back up the steps to come in.  I was on the last step up to the concrete porch and I bent down to rub her head and love her up a bit.  My toe caught on the edge of the porch and threw me onto the porch.  Thank goodness, I was already low so nothing on my body from the shoulders down, got hurt but my head didn't stop moving when my body did.  I saw a million stars and got a lump the size of a golf ball right above my eye and some other abrasions on the side of my face and my nose.  I called my daughter to tell her what happened just in case and she showed up at my house 15 minutes later and hustled me off to the hospital ER.

After some feeling of the lump and some eyeballing by the dr., the did a CAT scan and then we waited.  When the results came back nothing was broken and there was no internal bleeding.  The dr. said that if you have to hit your head, that's the best place to do it but he didn't recommend it.

This morning into the afternoon, I began to look like I'd done 3 rounds with Mike Tyson and lost.  I have a shiner you wouldn't believe!  And I don't know why they call them "shiners" because they don't shine!

Any, that's my story and I'm stuck with it.  I have no other spots that hurt except a little pain in my neck now and then and great big sore spot on my ego!

I'm going to go to bed early tonight and I'm not taking Mickie out that door!

And I almost forgot my 12 year old granddaughter's school chorus concert was tonight.  When my son called to check up on me, it reminded me and I asked if he was still going to pick me up.  He said, "I am if you still want to go".  I did and he did and it was a nice evening out.

Also managed to finish the green gumdrops today.  I'll do the red ones tomorrow when I get home from my follow up appointment at the dr.

LLOYD, I hope your grandson is on the mend.  Prayers are going his way!

CALLIE, good luck with your weekend!

AMY, I hope the next-door-doggie is feeling better by now.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!  He was surely with me last night!

Good morning everyone.
What a windy night it was last night. We did get some snow but not a lot. Just going to take the day as it comes....lots to do so we shall see what does or doesn't get done.

Jane, my goodness today you may feel the effects of your fall, just take it easy. I did that last year, plowing into the outside door frame  but my bump was on the side of my head. I was out feeding the birds and came toward the  house and boom ,down I went!

Lloyd, any word on your grandson?

Have a great day everyone..

Jane, I don't like hearing that you fell but am relieved that the ER found nothing serious.  That is not the way to enjoy your retirement.

Things are ok here.  Trying to get a grocery list together for David to do the shopping today.  I don't like that he has to take on this chore, too, but it is what it is and for some reason we feel we need to eat.

Beautiful sun shining after several dreary and rainy days but, a bit chilly.

Take care, All, and no falls, please.

Jane, I know what you look like and don't be surprised if the shiner goes across your nose and under the other eye.  Been there, done that.  I hit my head over my left eye and I know I had a lump, maybe not as large as yours.  I went to my doctor and a nurse said she'd like to see the other guy.  You will recover!

It's all of 18 degrees this morning and I think the forecast is for 40 degrees tomorrow.  No wonder people get sick.

I'm going to work on Christmas cards today.  I think I have all of 20 to send; the number dwindles each year.

I'm up and attem .... well maybe not "attem" all the way yet.  Amazingly, I don't feel too bad today.

Thanks for the advice LLOYD and I'll consider myself "hugged long distance".  I wasn't actually in a hurry, I just wasn't paying attention.  That step on the front porch is one of the things on the list to be fixed.  I'm not sure when that will be.

I think I'm going to stop and take a short break.  My sister says that my grandniece who goes to college near me, is going home for this coming weekend.  I'm going to get in touch with her to see if she wants to drive my car there with me in it.  I'd have a visit with my sis and bro and maybe relax a bit.  I'm going to concentrate on getting the things ready that I need to get to them.  And the stuff for the Post Office today and tomorrow and then take the weekend off.  Sounds like a winner to me.

AMY, I remember when you did that bump on the side of the head.  No fun bumping heads is it?  I can't stop thinking that Someone was watching out for me because I have nothing worse than a black eye!

Sorry, I got sidetracked and had to go finish making the dog food and feed my furry friend.  Then I got dressed and ready for my follow up dr. appt. today and had to see if the car would start.  Took Mickie for a nice walk and here I am.  And that's it so far.

PS.  Thanks for that, MARY ANN.  Today it just seems to be all squinched up around my eye and my nose but hasn't crossed over my nose.  Maybe my nose is bigger than yours?

PHYLLIS, I've always said that if we didn't have to eat, I could save a LOT of money.  It seems every time I get something ahead, my stomach growls and the grocery store calls.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone, CNA yesterday did the laundry so that is done for another week, same one coming today in half an hour from now. I got a call from the CNA I have had for 2 years yesterday. She said the PT is working great and she will be back after the holidays. Yippee.

Don't have much time to chat  but

LLOYD I will be praying for your grandson.

My oldest son loves fruit cake so I ordered one for him and it got here yesterday and then I got a box from my daughter. Oatmeal cookies and her first time making fudge, both yummy. Also have a new Arizona calendar, beautiful scenes in it. Son came over and brought me some applesauce he made and also dome of the 15 bean soup he made. The soup  is great. I gave him the fruitcake and his eyes lit up when he opened the box. It was not meant for a Christmas gift, more a thank you for all he does for me. Then he looked at me and to me I should not have spent my money on him. I know what I want to do for other son but I cannot get out for it.

JANE  hope that "shiner" fades fast or people will wonder who beat you up. Glad the fall wasn't worse.

Have to go and get dressed before I have this CNA here in about 15 minutes. At least she does see what needs doing and not wait for me to tell her.

Have a good day.

I'm here to check half a dozen times a day but hate to always whine & that's all I'm getting done lately. Hope for some break through when I go to PT for first time tomorrow. Not sure why my Dr doesn't see fit to do an MRI or what ever it takes to find what the head pain it.

Jane, you certainly know how to take a fall.... to not have major injuries. Keep a brown paper bag handy to put over your head  as those colors change from purple, yellow, green & gold.... they can get pretty showy and lasted forever for me. I manage to get the back of my head more than face, but bright red hair over glowing white is a little much. Hope you aren't too stiff as the muscles go for pay back for abusing them.

Trying to get a shower in & wash this awful hair mess... boy, wearing a hoodie to bed is not what the hair needs! Hair, top of head & behind ears still screaming this morning.... and only 2 more augmentin pills left so figure that will be extended.

Have warmer (50) weather tomorrow & hope to feel up to picking up leaves... not because they NEED it, but because I NEED to get some exercise & have never been one to just "exercise"... feel like a gerbil on those little wheels when nothing to show for my efforts. Everyone take care of yourselves... be back later to check up. All the news from Kansas for right now! Shirley

Shirley...

I do  not understand just how you can
stand all of that pain,  and the doctors
are not offering to help  you.

Or is it that what they offer,  you
will not accept?    It is hard for me
to understand what is going on.

If it were me,  I would keep going and
bugging doctors to find out what is wrong
and help me.

I hope that someone comes up
with and answer to your pain and
you accept their help.

You are very brave.

Jane...  You are brave too.   Taken  a
bad fall which damages your head is
is not a good thing.

I feel so bad for you and hope
that you find relief from the
pain and have no more issues coming
from it ..

Good Morning,

Janie and Shirley, I'm so sorry about your "owies".

Janie, hope the visit plans work out.  Sounds like a lot of fun.

Shirley, I really doubt that a few days not doing your version of exercise would cause your muscles to deteriorate. Can't remember if you have high blood pressure.  First diagnosis of mine (in 1959) was "it's the safety valve on your pressure cooker".  My head sometimes feels like it's going to explode when too much is coming at me at one time and I can't do anything about it.

KS/OK "bouncy" weather isn't helping, either. We're at or below freezing in the mornings and in the mid-50's by afternoon.  Prediction is for an Arctic blast to come in Sunday/Monday at the same time "something" is coming from another direction.  Forecast sounds as if Kansas may get the brunt of it; weather gurus haven't decided if OKC will.

Gloria,  what fun to have all the treats to enjoy.  Sounds as if you had the perfect gift for your son, too.

I regretted for Bridge today (see above post re: "busy week") and was going to do some errands.  However, I think I'll start preparations for The Christmas Trip - beginning with measuring suitcases to see if I have one that fits the current measurements allowed by airlines - then seeing if I can find my "Colorado winter" clothes and, if so, finding out if they still fit.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Sandy, thank you for the sympathy, I'll take all I can get BUT also take full blame for not being willing to take the pain meds the doctor offers. I really have had side effects that are so dangerous, death threatening, that I'm not willing to try anything new.

I did "make plans" that if it reaches the stage I need to go into the hospital for tests & meds because not safe to be home alone in that situation, the cats will have to be put to sleep before I leave the house, cannot leave them to suffer, my youngest son realizes there is no other choice. The other 2 kids don't want to believe they can't take over, but I'm not willing to let the cats wonder what happened to their world.

This cold weather is the reason the cats would have to be taken care of.... they have to have their time outside, even in below freezing conditions. But in a few hours they are sitting on the step to come back in and they would not come in if I wasn't at the door to greet them. They would never come inside for anyone else and that isn't fair to any living critter. My fault they aren't geared for full time outdoor life and I'm not willing to let them suffer because of MY 9 years of re-educating them.

Callie, I'm still giving thought to my high BP being a part of the cause... but since no MRI or proof, will just hope it gets a little better every day. Hope the PT will tell if clinching my jaw to walk on that sore knee has something to do with it as well, so doing all I am willing to do to fix me. Enough talk about me & my problems, I love coming in here to see what everyone else is up to... all the Christmas baking and such.

Good morning everyone,  A WHOLE 19°, was nice and warm in bed but I sure turned the heat up first thing. Makes me glad I do not have to go out. Today will be the first Friday I get help since my regular CNA has been sick leave. Not the 2 hours I should have but 1½. When I got the call yesterday I was surprised. Will be the first Friday in almost 2 months. Good at last I might get the floors washed and the furniture polished.

SHIRLEY  don't push yourself to get to work outside. With all the pain you are in you should be taking it easy. You do know we worry about you and don't want you outside flat on your back with no one around to help you.

SANDY  wonderful words to Shirley. I know if I was in the pain she is in I would not think about getting outside to rake leaves.

CALLIE  my son's eyes lit up when he saw that fruitcake. Of course he scolded me for spending any money on him. Told him it was a thank you for all he does for me and not a Christmas present. For my other son I gave his oldest daughter some money to get him some cans of the sardines he likes. He is the only one who likes them so his obese wife will not eat them and leave him none. Now that doesn't sound too nice does it? Hope your warm winter clothes fit you. Going to Colorado in the winter months is something I would not like. Gets cold enough here for me. The 19° here now will keep me inside.

SHIRLEY  wish I could do the cooking and baking I used to do. I cannot even stand long enough to fry an egg.

LLOYD  terrible to see a youngster having health problems. I know how I would feel if it was my great grandson.  Prayers for him.

Guess I will go have me second mug full of coffee and then breakfast.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone.
Temp is 25°F this morning..chance of snow flurries with a risk of freezing rain tonight. Cleaning is on the agenda, no baking today!!

Lloyd, he is in the best place for care and with their care and prayers he will be in good hands.

Gloria, isn't it amazing how something so simple as a fruit cakes makes one so happy? Hope all works out with this new CNA for you.

Shirley, hope it doesn't come to that and the cats will be alright. Does your Dr have any ideas on what this is and why it is causing you so much pain?

Jane, hope you are feeling better this morning.

Sandy, good to see you. How are your eyes since the surgery, are you happy with the outcome?

I had better get a move on.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Amy

The sight that I have left in my right eye
is very good.  Big improvement.  My field of vision
is so small that I have to remember that even though
I can see much better,  in the distance with out glasses,
that my now limited field of vision in my one
seeing eye,  still keeps me from really seeing
all I need to see to be safe wandering around.

I use my rollator to keep me limited to areas that I
can actually see.

I am not complaining .... I just need to not get
"too big for my britches "  or I will bump into
or fall  (which is never a good thing)..

I am so lucky that I can still see the computer and my
loved ones faces and read (even though most of my
book reading is book listening,  which I am now getting
very used to doing.

Not looking forward to a really long cold winter,
but since I am still residing on
"the right side of the grass", ( )
I will make the best of it.  Here in New England
we get use to accepting the good with the bad,
depending on what good and bad means to each individual
living here.    We have something for everyone!

Good morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem.  I printed out my shopping list and I'll be off to WM pretty soon.  I want to get that job done before I chicken out and don't go at all.

Snow was predicted for this morning into this afternoon so I cancelled my trip to my sister's.  I don't think my car is safe to drive for any distance in snow and I didn't want to take a chance with my grandniece's life.  Of course, after I cancelled, the prediction was changed to rain only but that can freeze and become a driving menace, too.  So I'm better off staying home.

I'm almost finished with my boxes for Texas and Oklahoma and that's my goal for tomorrow.  They have to be at the PO. tomorrow.

I almost had a disaster!  I had my shopping list on the computer and was adding to it daily and this morning while trying to copy something else, I accidentally deleted the shopping list.  So I sat here and went through the waste basket and took out all the handwritten lists and had to reconstruct the typed one.  Now it's printed and I'm good to go.

LLOYD, prayers continue for your youngster.  I'm not sure if it's your grandson or great grandson but I'm sure God knows which one needs the prayers.

SANDY, if I forgot to say so, I'm happy that your cataract surgery has brought you some new vision.  Enjoy God's gift!

CALLIE, has your "calm" weekend begun yet!

SHIRLEY, I sympathize with your dilemma concerning the kitties.  I really wasn't aware that it would not be possible for someone else to care for them while someone else cared for you.  My prayers continue for you that you find some permanent relief!

I'm off to get dressed and head for the store.  Then back to pack my boxes.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone. Big change in temperature, yesterday in the teens and today 45° and raining again. I really would like snow better than rain. Too much dampness with rain.

AMY  this company is messed up. I didn't get the different cna but the one who pushed my slippers under the bed a couple of weeks ago. Wonder if they said something to her because she hardly talked and was busy the time she was here. At least every thing is clean in here again.

LLOYD  hope you have good news about your great grandson.

SANDY  we New Englanders are not sissys, we sure put up with summer heat and humidity to temperatures at zero or below at times.

JANE  glad you found your shopping list. I used to make one and in the market I never loo at it. Now when I order o‌nline for delivery I make one and make sure that is all I get.

Looks like I am too early for anyone to be here yet.

Have a good day.

Good morning.  Still dark out here.

Gloria,  I think it is hard for any of us, especially people at our age, to  be happy with someone else doing what we feel like we should be doing.  It is hard at our age to accept changes, but there comes a time, when it can happen. So far, I am still able to dust and run the sweeper around.  Not like I used to, but it is enough.  I bought a nice electric cleaner that does a great job on my kitchen and bathroom floors.  It almost runs by itself.  Sometimes things just get a "lick and a promise".  I am not nearly as "picky" as I used to be.

I am going to an Amish market this morning with my son and DIL.  So I need to  get myself moving.  I had planned to take a shower last night, but fell asleep and decided just to wait until this morning.  Maybe that will help me wake up.

Lloyd, hope your little great-grandson is better today.  Hard to see such a little one in that situation.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Joy, sounds like you have an enJOYable day ahead of you. Love going to markets and seeing all the wares they have for sale. Atmosphere is different a happy place to be.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  My daughter is picking me up for the Amish Store in a little while so this might be interrupted.  She'll text me when she leaves her hours and I'll post..ready or not!

I have only one of my TX/OK boxes ready.  The other two are ready to pack but I need some packing material and just texted Cathy to see if she can grab some newspapers on the way out the door to use for packing.

I have a kind of nice thing to share....  Kiran, my almost 13 year old granddaughter and the youngest, texted me yesterday to ask when we were going to do the "Toys for Tots" thing.  We've been doing this together ever since she was 3 years old.  We make a special trip to WM and she picks out some Barbie stuff and some hot wheels or something else for boys and we deposit it in the collection box and then we have lunch or whatever at McDonalds.  I almost forgot but she didn't.  If I haven't left her with anything else, this and her love for the Library and reading will be enough!  Even with all the technical stuff she's been exposed to she still likes to read and we can still enjoy a trip to the library together.

My all time favorite Hallmark Christmas movie was on last night and I woke up in time to see the end of it.  I'll have to get out my copy and watch it...maybe tonight.  It's called "The Christmas Card" and you would all love it if you got a chance to watch it.

I'm going to wrap this up because I'm sure Cathy will be texting any minute.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

JOY, have fun at the Amish Market!

Good Morning,

Yesterday was sunny and so warm that DIL and I only needed sweaters while we were out running around....Well, actually, she took me to a "maintenance" doctor's appointment but she had errands of her own to do on her way home, so we only did one of mine.  She is so sweet to help me and we always enjoy our time together.

Today, as predicted, is cloudy and cold.  I still need to go to Walgreen's and Braum's (local dairy store) but then I'm "in for the duration". Doesn't mean I'll have nothing to do- but, at least, I won't have to be anywhere at a certain time and am not anticipating anyone being here.

So, Janie, I'm optimistic about :calm:  ;D

Good thoughts and prayers going out to all who are experiencing health issues for themselves and loved ones.

Just a quick note to MARY ANN...

Your prediction came true! The black and blue (and red and green and yellow and brown) has jumped my nose and took over the other eye, too.  Darn, I was hoping you'd be wrong about that.  I look like those Kitchen Witches that everyone loves so much.  Well, anyway, the love is there.

Gotta go get my other box for TX packed before Kiran texts me that she's ready to go.

Hope you are all enjoying your day....DALLIE, I hope your "high hopes" are coming true.

Amy, I like your husband's sense of humor -raindrops with white parachutes!

Jane, I'm sorry my prediction came true.  I wore dark glasses that covered up a lot of my color, but not all.  I think I did not go to church for three weeks, but If I had to go out, I did.  The surprising thing was when some of it came back a few weeks later.  I was fortunate that I didn't land on my eye - and you were too.

Tom and I spent more time with his granddaughters this morning.  They are so cute and so good.  We went to Barnes and Noble a second week to hear a story being read, then took them to McD's so they could play in the play area.

It is wonderful to read the uplifting notes of sharing and caring in here - it isn't just because of "the season" but it is the normal nice response of everyone posting over the years.  I love to read it!

Don makes Christmas cards with the computer every year and individual birthday cards too - I just finished envelopes and now to take them to the post office to mail the stack.  All presents are ready to be mailed and it is a good feeling.  We will be with two of my cousins & their spouses for Christmas Eve day and one son will be with us as well.

Amy: and Gloria: Most of our life we have found good people.  Only a few disappointments - when a renter left us without furniture and had asked for an extension on rent - we wanted to help and they stole stuff.

Sandy:  I hope your cataract surgery mends quickly.  Best wishes!

Floyd:  I am glad to read baby is getting better.  Take care of yourself too.

Jane:  Good for you for teaching your grands to share.  They will be more aware of the people in need.

I'm of to Dreamland, too.  And not for the first time today.  I just conked out during the movie.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Seems I can only get in here late at night......

LLOYD, so happy to read the little one is off of the oxygen and doing better.

JANE, I am sorry your face looks like you went 3 rounds with Joe Lewis.  Bruising is strange the way it moves around.  It will probably last a good week.

SHIRLEY, I join the rest in feeling badly after reading the situation about your kitty cats😢. Sure hope you start to feel much better.

It has been a rough couple of days.  Michele's Gamma Knife treatment was long and quite uncomfortable for her as the mask was much too tight and it kept giving her terrible headaches.  There was nothing the6 could do for her other than release her from the table and get the mask off of her face for a bit.  We were shocked to read that they had to treat 13 tumors! All of which were new ones😩😢😭. The last ones they did were gone, than God, and now we just hope and pray that these will be too and that no more present🙏🙏

Son in California called this AM just devastated after hearing that a good friend was found dead after a grand maul seizure.  We have known him for years and it was quite the shock to hear the news.  I did feel so badly for Mark.  Mark and Family are going to Arizona early next month and were going to stay with this friend.  The friend was looking forward to meeting Jonah😩😢

I must get off to bed....pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny
