   Kind words-
(from SN January 09, 2004 )

Kind words they are always priceless,
from one who is sincere,
Kind to appreciates the feelings,
of friends they hold so dear.

Kind words they can be healing,
if one feels low or down,
Kind words can ease a troubled brow,
and smooth away that frown.

Kind words can ignite a spark of hope,
which from there it may inspire.
Kind words can raise, from ashes of doubt.
a small comforting glowing fire.

Kind words are something we all need.
as the path of life unfolds.
Kind words that sleep within our hearts,
are the goodess in our souls.

Richard

Two kids are on their way to Sunday school when one says to the other, "What do you think about this Satan stuff?"

"Well, you remember Santa? This could turn out to be your dad too."

Q: What's a good holiday tip?

A: Never catch snowflakes with your tongue until all the birds have gone south for the winter.

Just a quick "Good Morning Everyfriend"!  I have to go get a shower and get dressed for church while we wait out Mickie's pill.

Before I forget, JENNY, I still have Michele in my own personal prayers and on the prayer list at church.  She certainly is putting up a good fight and I think God is on her side.  Also, so sorry to hear about son's friend.  It's always hard when they're so young!

BUBBLE, thanks for our nifty new place, just in time for Christmas.  I love the pics but do we not have any for Chanukah?  Isn't it time for that to be coming up.  I'm pretty sure I saw that it's beginning right before our Christmas.

I have to sign off for now and go get ready for church.  Don't know when I'll be back because my daughter from Maryland is here for the weekend and we're trying to spend a lot of time together.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make I your own in every way!

Good morning everyone, no rain today, might be able to go out for a walk later. Pulled up the shade in the bedroom and was watching the moon and clouds High thin clouds that looked like they were behind the moon, made it look like the moon was moving fast but it was the clouds moving. Weird. I like looking around when I pull that shade up. At least I slept later this morning.  5:30 is better than 3am. Local weather gal just said it was "wicked windy" this morning. Maybe I better stay in, the wind might glow me away  ;)

JOY  Some of these CNA's I have been getting sure do t even know how to wash dishes. I have had to wash them over after one of them. Got to  I would wash them before she go here. Seems they do not know they are supposed to wash their hands when they get here either, that is one of the rules in their book. I asked one to dust last week and she said she is a CNA not a house keeper. I told her she is supposed to do what I need, I read the rules. She gave me a dirty look but she dusted.

JANE  you had not talked about Kiran is a while. Glad she remembered the toy trip with you. Wonderful that you are so close.

LLOYD  sounds like good news about your great grandson.

CALLIE  I like getting away from here at times but I am always so worn out when I get back I wonder if it is worth it. Yes it is, get to see others and especially like it when my son takes me to the market.

JANE  wonder how many will ask who gave you the black eyes?

AMY  love your hubby's rain with white parachutes. Right now no rain or snow here.

CAROL  terrible when you trust people  and then they treat you so bad. My younger son just went through that with his wife's brother. They rented him the apartment I had for 20 years before I move here. He moved out owing him back rent and when my son and DIL went upstairs they were both disgusted. Cost my son almost $3,000 to replace sink and commode in the bathroom, tare up carpeting and put in new flooring, get a new stove and fridge. He did all the work himself. His oldest daughter is now living there. She is a neat person and likes things clean.

JENNY  my prayers continue for Michele, Clear one and 2 more show up. She has survived more than God should ask of anyone.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new page, Love the font on the Merry Christmas. Good graphics  and thoughts this morning.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone...

High wind still prevail here but the snowing has stopped. Not sure if a date with Mr Snow blower is on will see after I have my tea. Power did go out but came right back on ,now I need to set the clocks :(

A day of rest, must admit I did have a day of rest yesterday too.

Bubble, thank you for the new page, love the graphics and the pearls of wisdom.

Gloria, you have to speak up for yourself with the CNAs and remind them that if you didn't need them they wouldn't have a job. Because of you they get paid!

Jane, have fun with your family today.

Jenny, prayers for Michele, they will het ahead of this dreaded disease.

Better get my dancing clothes on.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning everyone. AMY you could Not stand it to keep your snow up there. we are getting it now. it started about 7 AM. and is coming right on down from your direction. about 3/4" and still at it. according to the weather guesser we are to get 6" - 7" that will be enough to make some good snow cream. a friend is supposed to bring a big bale of hay over for the two cows i have left, that got away from us when we shipped the rest of them. Have a great day.

Snow is cleaned up and with no mishaps. The snow was wet underneath making it difficult to shovel but the snow blower made short work of it.

Lloyd, if I was closer I would snow blow for you. Can you coral those two ladies and get them shipped ? Then you wouldn't have to worry about the feed.

Good Morning,

Bubble,  thank you for the cheery cards, thoughtful quotes and funny comments to begin a new Soda Shoppe.

I'm so glad I got "supplies" yesterday because this morning is foggy and drizzly with temperatures near the freezing mark.  Past history reminds me that this is often bronchitis weather for me so I'm not sticking my head out the door (except to get the paper).
I like "attending" the church service televised from one of the OKC churches when I don't get to my own and that's what I'll do in a few minutes.

Lloyd, if you're getting snow in Warrensburg my granddaughter in Overland Park is probably getting it, too.

Jenny,  I hadn't read the former Soda Shoppe before I began posting here.  So came back to say that prayers will be said for your family.   Seeing our adult "kids" in pain (physical and/or emotional) and knowing we can't do anything to fix it is one of the hardest parental jobs to do, IMO.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good Morning, Everyfriend!  I woke up at 5:15 this morning and I couldn't get back to sleep.  So I got up and took Mickie out and she's had her pill and the boinge has gone off for breakfast.  In the meantime, I have all the packages ready to deliver to my grandniece before she goes home for Christmas. That's all my sister's family....Sister, Brother, Niece and family and Nephew and family.  All the stuff is on my bed and I just have to put some packing in it and find a box or two that Bethany can handle until she leaves.  Then I have to find out EXACTLY when she will be picked up for the holiday and make a connection.  That's one of my projects for today.

At least one of my sent packages has reached it's destination so that's a good thing.

I better go feed my doggie an get my own breakfast before Frankie texts.  We have a project going on today....if it doesn't snow first.  It was supposed to start around7 a.m. and then that was changed to 9 and now it's saying 10.  Maybe it got stopped at the US/Canadian border.  That would be a good thing.  I'm off!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning.  I'm sorry I haven't been here for a couple of days but I've been having some "lost" days.  Doing better today so want to get some things done before I phase out again.  David has been keeping the necessary things going but I need to catch up some things while I can.

Jenny, most importantly, I want to say I'm so sorry to hear that things aren't going too well for Michelle. She is in my thoughts and prayers so much, and for all of you and the family, as well.

A good job well done on keeping Seniors and Friends going, Bubble.  Thank you for your time and effort.

Sorry that several of you are fighting the snow.  Please be careful if you are out walking or driving around in it.  We're to have rain again tomorrow but today the sun is shining and it is in the mid-40's right now.  Not too bad.

I apologize for being missing so often but I do think of you all many times during the day.  I am saddened with you during the bad times and rejoice with you during the good times.  I will come here when I can and when I can't I'll send my good thoughts.

Well, that trip was short lived. We did strike out only to end up coming back on the flat bed. As I was driving the anti skid light came on, then I had no gas pedal power and no steering power!! Managed to get the vehicle off on the shoulder and call for CAA. I also phoned our neighbour to come and get the dogs and Kyle to take them home. Tow truck took the van to the garage and then they brought me home. Cardiologist phoned and I we have re-scheduled for Wed. I hope we get the vehicle back by then!!

Don't like a monkey wrench thrown in the day but it is what it is.

Phyliss good to see you and take it easy..prayers for better days for you.

Better go see what I don't want to do . :)

Good morning everyone, did I ever get a good sleep for a change. Then maybe not good, when I do the next night is sleepless. Then again maybe I ate too much candy yesterday and it put me to sleep?

AMY  I keep telling the one in the office about the ones and time I have been getting help the new one in charge keeps telling me they do not have enough help. Never had this problem with the one who was in charge of the office. Her doctor put her on sick leave and they put someone into her job and now want her to work out of a city that is too far for her. She was on the verge of a stroke because of the stress. We had wind here yesterday, too. I did go outside but the wind was so bad I thought it would blow me down so came back inside.

LLOYD  I thought you got rid of all those cows.

JANE  what were you doing working yesterday? I always thought Sunday was supposed to be a day of rest? I wonder if it ever was in this modern world. Just the big dinner for family was a lot of work IMHO. If your forecast is anything like here, believe only half of what they say.

AMY  safe trip to the city and home.

JANE  bet the package already delivered was a treat for the one who got it.

PHYLLIS  sorry you have been "under the weather". No  sun here, just a gray sky and 28°. I would rather have snow instead rain with it's dampness. I think I should have moved to Arizona with my daughter and SIL. Little rain there in the high desert. Just come in and say hello when you can so we do not worry too much.

AMY  no matter how well you keep up a vehicle it will mess u p when you really need it. Hope the garage has t back for Wednesday.

miscommunication again CNA was to  here at 11 and she is here already. Grrr.

Have a good day.

Neighbour took me to pick up the van, everything is in order thank goodness. What a mixed up day , some sewing did get done but not a lot.

Callie, thank goodness for your sliders, we had those along with fires  and that was supper.

Gloria, we get to go again on Wed and I hope we don't have any problems ..

We walked over by the golf course and the temp is fine and dandy but a breeze made the walk seem chilly.  The snow on Arizona mountains is gone - it sure doesn't stay long here.  At home, I heard there was another 3 FT. of snow in the Rockies.  Oldest son is staying at our house while annual medical check and soon he will be driving here for a 3 week vacation/trip.  So, I am online checking recipes because my holiday cook books are at home.

It seems unfair to all who have to endure medical care during these special holidays - I send gentle hugs to each of you who can use a hug now.

My package for my sister and her family is now in my grandniece's hands.  My son drove me over to her college to deliver it tonight because she goes home tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow morning is suppose to be "crappy" weather around here.  We got home and I came in the house and hooked up Mickie to take her out and it was already starting to snow.  It's supposed to last all night and change to rain mixed with snow in the morning.

Now I'm really tired and I missed my nap this afternoon so I'm thinking I'll go in and put a movie on and watch it through my eyelids for a while.

My cleaning dynamo will be here tomorrow afternoon, weather permitting.  I told her not to take any chances.  If the roads are bad we can reschedule.  She agreed to that.  And the candy bags are all packed.  Tomorrow, I'll just have to stow some stuff until the cleaning is done and then I'm going to decorate the dining room table.  The 3 wise men are already standing watch in the entry way.  I made them many years ago when 2 friends and I took a ceramics class together.  I still like them!

I still have to decorate the side table.  That's always reserved for the Nativity.  I'm usually decorated by now but so far, all I have are the wisemen and some candles in the windows.

I'm really sleepy so I'll leave you on your own.  If I'm not drooping too much later, I'll stop by to check up on everyone.

If you feel bad, feel better!
If you feel good, stay that way!

Amy, as I read posts earlier and saw your car problem it went through my mind at one of the times I thought the car I was driving would "head for the junk yard"...... and turned out to be only that so much "slush" of snow & ice packed up under the car and because it was so very cold, FROZE solid. I had parked outside a store only for a short time and it was fine when I turned it off. My brother came to the rescue and crawled under far enough to take something to bam the ice loose & it worked just fine..... He warned me to keep it running until all the slush melted off next time!  Hope yours wasn't too expensive to repair.

We had snow, really cold but hopefully it will warm a little tomorrow (at least above freezing). I have an appointment with the physical therapist on Wed, had to cancel today because the place lost electricity overnight. Also scheduled for a CT scan on Wed afternoon so hope we can find what is causing the headaches. I am guessing the sinus infection went on so long it is just breaking loose so maybe will be okay without any other treatment. Stiff neck better since I quit grimacing when walking, still know the knee is not up to par, but can walk without a noticeable limp and drink a bottle of water without a straw! Any improvement is welcome.

Can't believe we are just days from Christmas and I don't have ANY decorations out, not even my Christmas village! Think I had better get on the ball tomorrow for sure. Bubble, when I scroll past your Santa graphic I think of your sweet Canadian Santa and a moment of sadness that he doesn't visit us more often. Tell him he is thought of, please....

This computer is off in a back bedroom so I can't think ... now that's a fact! Between weather & groaning and keeping up with cats, I don't do a thing to talk about. Will tell you about Callie (Mama cat)... she doesn't want to go out at all these cold days so when it is the warmest part of the day, I open the door & insist she go for a run. She will dart out the door, race around the pool and as she rounds the far side, stops to look at me standing at the door, if I open it laughing she makes a home run and is back inside with, "glad THAT is over for today!" Since she doesn't get to race all over the house or go downstairs, she does need the exercise. They do keep me entertained.

Better get a few things done so I can go to bed, half asleep already. Some time during the night I will wake up with head splitting and need to take an aspirin... but will have a piece of toast & cup of coffee & go right back to sleep so no big deal. Hope this is all well before Christmas. Sweet dreams to all and to all a good night!  Love ya, Shirley

Good morning everyone 27° and snow all day with icy rain included. Just looked out and nothing yet. When they get us all worked up about bad weather and roads it mostly turns out to be nothing. Once in awhile they are right.

AMY  glad the van is OK and you have another appointment. I am glad I no longer make appointments in the winter. Doctor  and dentist both know I will not make appointments then.

CAROL  my daughter who lives outside of Kingman, Az. sent me a picture she took of snow on the mountains higher than they are.

JANE  we are supposed to have that "crappy" weather today. Has not started here yet but north of us it has started. Glad your goodies are on the way to your sister. Too hard for me to do any decorating. My tree  is in the closet and will stay there. Many schools in the state are already closed for the day. Hope you had a restful sleep.

SHIRLEY  good luck with the CT scan. I didn't mind that at all, better than the MRI, really dislike laying on that hard table in that tube with all the noise for so long. Does my back no good.

Wow not many posts since I was here yesterday. Hope everyone is fine and dandy.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Nothing important is on the agenda for today other than house hold duties.. and I may wiggle in some sewing.

Gloria ,we are to get the snow tomorrow but I hope not till we get back home from the city.

Shirley, tis an awful feeling when you have no power . The mechanic explained it to me why everything shut down ,the vehicle thought it was going to be in an accident. Next time if there is one he said to shut everything off, open then door and start it up again. Hope your health problems are soon resolved.

Jane, I just bet you're so thankful for retirement and you can do all this. Seems to me you're just as busy if not busier than when you were working. :2funny:

Carol, nice to see you. Hope you found your recipes you like. Are you doing any quilting?

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We never got the promised snow. Just the kind with white parachutes.  And it froze on contact with the ground.  The salt trucks have been out doing their job probably all night.  I don't think it's even bad enough that there are any closings.  I think I heard that the schools are on a 2 hour delay.  That's not so bad.

This morning, I'm finishing packing my goodie bags and putting stuff away so Tammy can clean stuff.  Then when she leaves, I'll do a bit of decorating.  If the roads are not too bad later, I might make a quick trip to Big Lots.  I need some batteries.

And now, Mickie has a problem.  She thinks it's time for her walk.  I think she's psychic.  She does this every time I get a hot cup of coffee.

I guess I better go get dressed and take her for a regular walk.  She just had a "yard walk" when we got up.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

P.S. LLOYD, we used to collect snow to make "ice cream" when I was a kid and you've brought back some really neat memories to me.  My grandfather was the one who helped us do that.  We even had colors in it.  I don't know how he did it but than you for the memories.

The day is slipping by... we did get a bit done here, went into town not once but twice!! Made a meatloaf for supper along with parsnips carrots and potatoes. We haven't had a meatloaf in a long time and there is enough for a meatloaf sandwich for us...with hot mustard !!

Tomorrow we are out of here at 6:30 am to be at the cardiologist......I pray we get there this time. Weather folks are calling for snow which doesn't really bother us as we do have good snow tires on but others that don't and tramp on the gas:(

Better go see how things are going.

You are making me hungry with your snow ice cream. I have never had that but that could change :)

For some strange reason, I'm really sleepy tonight.  I don't think I'll make it to bed time....whenever that is!

I hope you are all getting ready for Christmas and the visit from the Jolly Old Fella! I'm having a hard time concentrating on anything form myself.  I'm so busy getting packages ready for everyone else and tomorrow is Kiran's 13th birthday.  She was born exactly one week before Christmas.

My father had died on the 18th of December some year before and I remember they were at my house on Sunday the 17th and Sarah was having mild contractions.  I told her to just relax because she wasn't going to have this baby until sometime after midnight.  She wanted to know how I knew that.  I told her  "Daddy Wright (that's what my kids called my father) was up there playing with her and he wasn't going to let us have her until he could send us a good memory to take the place of a bad one."  I was right!  She was born around 6 the next morning.  And she's been our good memory every since.

Now I'm going to go try to watch a Christmas movie and I'm sure I won't get all the way through it before my eyes give up.

AMY, I'm so glad your car problem was not worse!  Please be careful on all those "trips to the city".  We need you happy presence around here!

I'm off!

AMY, I am sorry to read about the problem with your van, but happy to read it was not a big issue, but it sure did sound scary to have no control over the vehicle.  I hope you are able to get Kyle to his appointment to with out any problems.

SHIRLEY, I sure hope the CT scan will give some indication of what is causing the headaches. Please just take care of yourself and do not try to get a lot done before Christmas....

JANE, it seems you are progressing well with all of your gift wrapping and getting them to the very lucky recipients😘

CAROL, nice to see your post.  I have been told that it just is not all that warm down your way this year.  How nice that your son will be spending some time there with you.  Our mountains have really been getting the snow.  There are some mighty happy skiers.

PHYLLIS, I am sorry you continue to be a bit under the weather.  Thankfully your David is there with you to help keep things going.

GLORIA, it is sad that the CNA'S that you are sent to help you out are not even able to do a simple task like wash dishes😫 I know it must be very frustrating for you.

LLOYD, I read others grumbling at you for over doing it again....we all thought you had things taken care of so you could take it easy, but it appears you are not doing that🤪🤪

The news is on, and even though I do not like anything they have to say, I do want to watch the weather.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone, 27° and just heard on local weather that roads are icy this morning. After the mess yesterday with snow and rain and the drop in temperature every thing is covered in ice this morning. Another day inside day for me. We had a dusting of snow overnight and I was watching a few brave ones here going out to clean their cars, snow was light and came off but underneath it is ice on the windows so a lot of scraping going on.

AMY  I never minded driving in snow but ice is something we cannot control a car on.

LLOYD  at least you can enjoy something about the snow you got. I knew some people who gathered the fresh snow and poured real maple syrup on it and loved it.

JANE  for a change the did right closing schools around here yesterday. Roads were pretty bad and worse with ice this morning. Schools are delayed today. Wonder how you got every thing done when you were still working. You seem to be busier now that you have retired.

JENNY  I had a different CNA yesterday and she was good. Imagine washing dishes in cold water because you skin gets red when using even warm water? I think all of us get red hands with hot water. I dislike complaining but the CNA's are supposed to do what we need. That cold water person didn't even want to dust the furniture. I put her in her place telling her I did read the booklet on what they can do. She just looked at me but did the dusting.

AMY good luck on your trip to the city and home again.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and Mickie has been out and had her pill so we're here waiting for the boinger.  Once the boinger goes off, I'll be "attem" for the day.

GLORIA, I think I know why I'm busier now than when I was working.  I sleep more!  If I feel tired, I just take a nap! I never did that when I was working.  I had things that needed to be done and I did them.  If there was time, I napped.

JENNY, I still have Michele and your family in my prayers.  I hope she's well enough to enjoy a nice family Christmas with her children.  I've often wondered how the children are handling this.  I tried to put myself in their place when I was young and wondered how I would react.  I can't imagine!

AMY, I'm praying that you have a safe trip to the city and back safely.  We're all waiting to hear!

LLOYD, you mind the drs. and give Nancy a Christmas hug from me!  She deserves the best!

I have something kind of neat to share with all of you.  A few days ago, Cathy came by with a box.  She said it's from her and my SIL and her daughter, Natalie and her husband, Clint.  They're the ones who live in Houston, TX and they were here for Thanksgiving but won't be here for Christmas.  Anyway, she showed me that the box was filled with envelopes, each one tied with a bow and dated with stick-on numbers indicating a date leading up to Christmas Day.  I was instructed to open one each day until Christmas but NOT to open them ahead.  This is FUN!  But it's also helping my budget!  Each envelope so far has contained a gift card of some sort.  The first one was from SHEETZ and I opened it after church on Sunday.  The interesting connection here is that on the way home from church my "needs gas" light came on there was the money to buy it.  I think they might have gone a little overboard but it's a pretty nice gift and the thought that went into it's preparation is pretty special.  I have a very thoughtful daughter and a very thoughtful granddaughter.  I'd love them anyway but I love them special this Christmas just for the time and thought that went into this gift!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

It is so nice to see a bright sun this morning after a rainy day yesterday.  It lifts the spirits and I don't even mind that the temp. dropped overnight and it is COLD this morning!  It is warm inside because the heat pump is doing its job very nicely...bless its little mechanical heart.  ;)

Jane, that is one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever heard of from your daughter, grand-daughter and their husbands.  Please let us know what the other envelopes reveal, (if it isn't too private), would you, and let us enjoy it along with you?  What fun!

Not much planned for today except definitely a nap!  We watched the movie "The Irishman" last night on Netflix.  I can't say it was a fun movie but it was a very good movie and deserves its academy award nomination for this year.  But, it was long so I didn't get to bed until late.

Take care, All.

Jane, that sounds like an Advent gift from your thoughtful family.

It is 16 degrees here now and may go to 18-20 degrees later today.  I think we are to go to 40+ degrees tomorrow.

Glad to be home!!The trip into the city was horrid!! Snow, blowing snow and white outs made it quite interesting but the trip home made up for the nasty trip in. The sun was shining and with the new snow on the trees ,it was a wonderful winter land and the roads were clean!!. All went well for the test and now it is a wait and see..

We stopped at Dairy Queen for lunch which we shared with the dogs. Kyle didn't want his sundae so I told the lady to give it to someone else. While we were eating she came to the table with a pint of ice cream for us to bring home!! What a treat!!

Jane, was a thoughtful gift but then you have thoughtful children and grands..they take after Mom/ Grandma.

Mary Ann the weather here has also taken a dip in temp it is +4 and windy.

Lloyd, I do hope all this is settled for you and Nancy ,you sure don't need this anguish!

Phyliss, I don't mind the cold as long as I am hugging the fire!!

Gloria, thank you, trip went well. I too do not like the black ice....makes one spin around like a button on an outhouse door!!!

Going to go relax a bit...

Phyllis, so far each of the envelopes has contained a gift card.  The second one was to YungTing restaurant.  This is a local Chinese restaurant that opened here about 20 or so years ago.  We watched a little boy move a stool around so he could see over the counter or answer a phone. He was the only member of the family who spoke English. He's all grown up now and has graduated college.  And he's OUR little boy!

The third one was to a local restaurant called Good Wils.  My former office friends gather there about 6 times a year for dinner and friendship.  I'm ready for the next time

The fourth one was for Amazon.  To "get anything I want" according to the note.

And the last one that I opened today was for my favorite Amish Store.  I'm ready for the next shopping trip.  So far, that's it.  I'll try to remember to report in tomorrow  I really think they went a little overboard but they don't.  So I'm accepting and loving them for the nice thoughts.

Right now, I'm waiting for Frankie to call for pickup.  She's at an appointment and when she gets back, she's going to give Mickie a bath and then I'm taking her and her doggie home.  He's already had his bath.  She only has a shower at her apartment so I can count on a visit from them whenever Cooper gets dirty.

AMY, I'm glad you're safely home with no incidents.  I hope the news you await turns out to be good news.

MARY ANN, it is kind of an ADVENT.  That's a waiting period for a special event and all the events leading up to it.  The last envelope in my box says "Dec. 25, CHRISTMAS" on it.  So....

LLOYD, is this the day things are supposed to be happening?  Let us know.  I think I might be tempted to put that man's things out by the road and tell him to pick them up before they get buried in the snow.  But I suppose something like that wouldn't count in your favor.  I'm not very nice about people taking advantage of my friends.

Better sign off before Frankie calls.  Hope everyone is having a good day!

Good Afternoon,

Countdown continues for The Big Adventure in Wisconsin.  Today I was able to put a hold on the newspaper delivery via phone but needed to go to the post office to have one put on the mail. Also needed to send a couple of things via certified mail.
It's sunny and warm so I decided to Get Up And Go - no matter how long it took.
Was amazed when someone backed out of a parking place right in front of the p.o. door, there were three efficient clerks working....AND there was NO LINE!!!  ;D

I think places like CVS, Walgreens, etc. put the pharmacy at the very back of the store so customers will "have an opportunity"  ::) to browse both going to and coming from.  'Twas true this morning for me as I thought of several things I "needed" before I got to the pharmacy counter.  ;)

Janie,  love your multiple envelope gift.  I'm sure they had as much fun planning and putting everything together as you're having opening them.

Amy,  no Dairy Queen around here any more and I really miss it.  Loved their hot fudge sundaes.

Lloyd,  I remember my mother making snow ice cream but don't think we ever tried it when we lived in the Colorado mountains. Either that - or it didn't work and we only tried it once!

Gloria, we had no trouble driving on packed snow in Colorado but I'd forgotten about Black Ice when we moved here.  I remember leaving to do errands and parking on the sloped driveway while I went back in to get something I'd forgotten.  When I came out, the car had slid into the street.

The only Christmas t.v. show I've watched (so far) is Kristen Chenoweth performing with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  Singers/dancers on the others I've tried haven't been "my kind of music".
I'm looking forward to next Monday night when I'll see Miss Ellen singing and dancing in "Holly Jolly Christmas".  The theater's Facebook page posted a video of the "Santa Baby" number.  We all picked up on Ellen using her "Betty Boop" voice for her solo bit. She said she had ad-libbed it in rehearsal. The director liked it but suggested she "dial it back a bit" for the performances.  ;)
That reminded me of when she sang "I Wanna Be Loved By You...boop boop de boop" in a local revue when she was in high school.  As she flounced off the state, her brother turned to their mom and said, WHAT was THAT??" Totally out of character for her then - not so much now.  ;D
She'll also be singing a duet of "Winter Wonderland" that will show off her lovely lyrical voice.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Evening.

Good morning...
Hokey teddy bear tis cold out -20 F at the moment!! I pity any dog/cat that is left outside on a day like today. We are meeting friends in town to give them "stuff" that was picked up for them and then I have a quilt delivery either today or tomorrow . Work around the house today after the running is done.

Don, I agree with Jane, hope you come back soon to your cyber family.

Callie, can feel the excitement building up...hope you can show us photo or utube  scenes of the show.

Gloria, bet you don't go for a walk outside today!! Good place to be is inside and warm.

Better get a move on here.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I notice that I didn't stop by to say Goodnight last night.  Sorry about that.  I fell asleep on the sofa when we came in from our last foray into the cold and when I woke up I went straight to bed.

AMY, it's 16 degrees here and I thought that was COLD!  I'm really glad I'm not where you are.  We get some "below" but usually not until sometime in Jauary.

Today is a "catch up" day.  If I get all caught up around here, I might make a quick trip to WM to pick up the stuff I need for Christmas dinner.  My Maryland Daughter and her husband and her daughter who lives here and MAYBE her twin brother who lives here, will be having dinner with me.  Not a big crowd but a good one.

OOPS, I just remembered, I forgot to set the boinger after Mickie's pill.  Now I have to back track and try to figure out when the waiting hour is up.

CALLIE, I'm waiting for a full report on you "WEEKEND AT THE CONCERT".  I bet it's goin to be one of the best highlights of your life.  It's nice that it's close enough that the family can support Miss Ellen in force!  ENJOY every minute of it.  Of course you will!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Jane, how well your family knows you.  I am thinking of the song from The Sound of Music and saying in my mind that your daily Christmas gifts are each one for a "few of your favorite things".  These are all things that they know you have enjoyed over the years with friends and familiar places that make up the fabric of your life.  What a treasure!

Cold here, too, but nothing like your "belows", Amy, and I am eternally grateful for that! ;D Hope you can stay home and near that big warm kitchen stove today.

Grocery day.  Ugh!  And a long list, too.  I don't know if there is enough "git up and go" in me but I think I'll try.  David has taken on so many of the household duties that I feel guilty but he says that sometimes it is just easier for him to do the shopping on his own than it is to worry about taking care of me getting around as well.  Finally, the disability parking placard has arrived so if there is a space available we can park a little closer....maybe.

Callie, safe travels to the North Country.  Enjoy the Christmas Show with Miss Ellen and all the family watching with button-busting pride.  A nice memory in the making.

Nice to see you, Don.  Please come back often.

Thinking of  Shirley and hoping so much that she is doing better and that the pain has gone.  It would be nice to hear from her soon.

Please take care, All, and Good Thoughts for Everyone.

Good Morning,

Sunny and cold in central Oklahoma.

Janie,  Miss Ellen is in Wisconsin!  Don't want to publicize details of trip so will report fully when we get home.

Amy, The Palace Theater has posted several videos of show numbers on its Facebook page that include Miss Ellen but I don't think they're on YouTube.

Have to get serious about packing today.  It's been a very long time since I've attempted this kind of trip.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Good morning everyone, I slept late today and it feels good. Just checked the temperature and it is 8° and wind chill is -5°. Yes that is minus 5°. Now that is really cold and winter is not officially here yet.

JANE  love the gift you got. Reminded me of the time my daughter had an envelope stapled to every page in the yearly calendar she sends me. All different gift cards. I had to wait for each month to open them. That was fun and lasted a year.

PHYLLIS  it is fun and a surprise that Jane got from her family. I had a gift that lasted a  year from my daughter. opened the first of each month.

AMY  I slid on black ice one morning going to work, ended when I hit a guide wire on a telephone pole. Turned around and went to the garage. Felt like I was driving side ways. Threw the car out of line so the man at the garage drove me home and brought the car back at the end of the day. So instead of earning money that day I spent it.

JANE  it is a thrill to open a new envelope and find a surprise in it. You are lucky to wait only a day, I had to wait a year to find out what I had.

CALLIE  you were lucky at he post office. Not even a line  to wait in at this time of year. There has been a lot of black ice around here already. Seems like they are not spreading as much sand as usual. Enjoy your trip  and seeing Ellen perform.

DON  it is wonderful to see you this morning. Bubble told me you were going to be Santa where you are living. I bet everyone will love you. I still miss you and your Sunday programs.

AMY  you are so right. If I had an appointment today I would call and cancel it. I am staying inside. I can always walk the halls here but that is not out in the fresh air. it is now up to 10°, getting warm?

LLOYD  have a good day.

Have to get moving, getting hungry so better get going.

Have a good day and stay warm.

OK, I made myself wait to open today's envelope until I finishes all the things I had planned to do today.  And I just finished and opened the envelope.  When I get home from the Amish store, I'll have to jump right into my friend's car and head for the movies so I can use my AMC gift card from today.

Whoever it was that said "they know me pretty well" was absolutely right.  So far, everything is for places I like to eat, things I like to do and good places to shop!  Natalie was only here for 4 days and one of them was Thanksgiving.  I wonder how they got all this done? Just accumulating all those cards took some time and putting it all together took more time.

Now, since I'm finished with today's chores and my list is ready for tomorrow, I'm going to take Mickie out and then snooze for a bit.  We don't walk far in the cold.  Dogs must have great padding on their feet because she never "complains"!  I always do!

I wonder about Shirley!  Hope all's well

Keep on keeping on!  The day is yours!

I come to check on all of you at least several times a day but since my head is still hurting (pain behind ears, top of head & that board someone whacked me across the back of the head/neck is still as sore as ever.... so I hate to be a downer with the happy Christmas talk! Results back from blood test & CT scan, inflammation markers not pinpointed... and I have no idea what the next step so asked the nurse that called to ask Dr what more can we do???  I mentioned getting a carbon monoxide detector, maybe try a different type BP med (that is always high)... can't keep taking aspirin every 5-6 hours the rest of my life!!!  But, I will say, those aspirin actually helped me get along better with the knee & after NOT taking since midnight last night, I do know that knee still protests walking normal!  Head is splitting but my tummy has reached the limit of accepting so many aspirin. Vicious circle.

Enough about my crazy life, I am putting up a strong battle but house & cats are not too happy. Cats can't figure why I'm not giving them a lot of hugs & extra petting, they just watch me with big eyes.

Don, so good to have you pop in for a visit, we do think of you as our personal Santa so a special treat!

Thank you all for thinking of me, I am just wallowing in this not knowing what is wrong. As Pollyanna would say, "just look at all the things tests show that AREN'T wrong with me!!!"

Time to feed cats, the girls are outside and Tom has been in all day so he will want out for exercise after he eats. Thank you all for the updates in your world, when bundled together it makes for very happy moments of reading. Callie, an extra hug for our star, she is such a lucky girl to have her family rally around this special occasion. Her cyber family will be waiting to hear all about the curtain calls!

Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm one who did not sleep well last night.  I guess I was thinking about all that needs to be done today and wondering where the energy was coming from.  My list just keeps growing longer and longer.

Among other things, I have an eye dr. appointment and it's a follow up.  I'm pretty sure it's not going to be a good report because I missed about 3 or so days after my fall when I couldn't stand to touch my eyes.  He's going to be miffed with me.

Then I have to deliver a gift to an old friend who just changed jobs and I'm not familiar with the place where she works now.  It's a sprawling Senior Citizen Home and combination Nursing Home.  I haven't been inside it for about 10 years and I know they've made a lot of changes.  My friend will meet me at the "front desk" but I think they've moved that since I've been there.

Then I have a BUNCH of errands to do and running around always tires me out.  I'm sorry!  It sounds like this is my day for complaining.  I'll try to do better later.

Mickie and I are waiting for the boinger and then the day begins!

LLOYD, your granddaughter not only helped you out, she was the bearer of good news.  And I sure hope Nancy feels better today. Maybe the kids just wore her down!

SHIRLEY!  Some things are still out of place from you various falls.  Treat them as you can and feel better soon.

I wish us all a lovely day!
We must make it our own in every way!

I do wish the temp would remember how to stay above 0!! - 22  at the moment  but no new snow to deal with. :)

Odds and ends day here. I managed to score a huge pork loin for 5.00 yesterday so will cook and chop part of it for the dogs..
We also need to take the garbage away either today ,Sat or Sun. Will let the boss decide on that.

Better get ready for the day...

Shirley and Phyliss are here now we just need Joy..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, 13° now. Below zero with wind chill. I just checked the temperatures for San Diego and not too warm there either. Hope my daughter has some warm clothes for her and my SIL. Looks like another day I stay inside. Even with the sun shining it will not get warm again. Makes me wonder what January will be like. I might become a hermit with these temperatures.

AMY  glad you had good hea t in your van and when you got home. I would enjoy your big old stove to sit near and keep warm. I really don't care for baseboard heat.

JANE  your family really knows you, that is LOVE.

SHIRLEY  HOPE YOU DO NOT TAKE ANY ASPRIN TILL AFTER YOU EAT SOMETHING. They can do a number on a tummy if you do.  Only pill I take first in the morning is the one for Gerd so I no longer have that reflux anymore. I talked to my doctor about dropping that one and she told me to skip a day and take it the next. Tried that and I started with the heartburn again.

LLOYD  did you think of sending your cactus picture to Bubble? I am sure she can fix the picture for you. I would try but been too long sind I did any PSP and might mess it up.

JANE  I no longer have the strength to do much of anything and I tire doing nothing. Thank God for all you can still do and I envy you.

Guess it is time for breakfast, the only meal I can make, easy oatmeal.

Have a good day and keep warm.

Sunny today but still cold.  I chickened out yesterday and decided I just couldn't face the cold and all the walking through the grocery store so David did it.  He was really tired last night.  Poor guy.  I feel so bad that so much is falling on him now but he never complains and just says that I took care of him when he needed it so now it is his turn.

Shirley, it was good to hear from you but I'm sorry you are having such a battle.  I wish I had some answers for you.  The extreme dry winter air in the house doesn't help with headaches either.  I try to keep some humidity going by keeping water on a low simmer in the crock pot.  I doubt that it raises the humidity level very much but it makes me think that it does.    :uglystupid2:

I'm off to get some breakfast.  Take care, stay warm and safe, Everyone.

Good Afternoon.  I am late getting in here today.  And, I know I have not been posting like I should have been.

First.  Callie, I know we all will be so anxious to hear about your trip to see your grand daughter in the show. What a nice way to make some special memories.  So happy that so many are able to go with you.  Take lots of notes !!!

Shirley, sure hope that  you will feel better soon.  Just doesn't sound like you.  You are always so upbeat and positive about everything.  Please try to relax and take care of yourself.

Phyllis, I know what you mean about your "git up and go" having left you !!!  I am just so tired all the time, and I really blame it on not making myself do things.  It is just so much easier to stay put.  I did go to Walmwart the other day, and had to stop several times to rest. I had taken my walker in, instead of getting a cart, so that I could sit down if I got tired.  And, I did make use of that seat several times.  But, I survived.

Jane, your gift envelopes were sure a special gift.  I can imagine how much fun it has been to open one each day and be surprised.  Like someone else mentioned.... your family really know you well and all the things that you like.  Now, you will have so much fun using them.

Gloria, I am in the same boat as you !!  Just get so tired doing nothing.

Jean, thinking about your grandson and sure hope the new treatments will work.  There are so many new drugs and treatments available today.   I know that is a big worry for you and Larry, especially being so far away.  My thoughts and prayers  are with all of you at this special time of the year.

Thoughts go out to all of you and hope you all will be up to having a wonderful Christmas and the Happiest and Healthiest New Year.  Everybody is so busy getting ready for the "big day", and then all of a sudden it is all overwith.  I don't do much anymore, as it is just another day, when you get my age.  When there are no little ones to share the day with, it just becomes another day.  I hope we all have special memories when the children were little. That is what Christmas is all about.  Such fun to see then all excited.

Hope everyone will have a nice Friday evening.

Joy

I am smiling at the advice and love it!  Thanks to all. My brain is running about 50% at best & most of the time 10% so you know how little is getting done around here. Gloria, you are so right about eating something before taking aspirin, same with the antibiotic (augmentin)... that means I am eating all the time, day & night! I am getting tired of everything in the house & don't much feel like picking up fast food unless I am already on the road to one of these tests. Since I only have a couple antibiotic pills left (take 2 a day), this has been going on for 2 weeks, & the knee 6 weeks before that.My best computer is getting that massive Microsoft update, has been taking all day & still only 4% done on the install.

Phyllis,I had a new filter put on the furnace humidifier & do keep the house moist... that dry air has always been a problem in Kansas, but I remember my father would take the floor register off & put a flat cake pan on the duct work under & fill with water (in MO). The good thing is after running the tests, x-rays & CT scan they haven't found anything wrong in my head & didn't tell me if anything is missing. :crazy2:

Lloyd, I do hope you can get out from under this mess without any more stress. Even after it is over, it is a big job to keep up with that much land and house and maybe time to think about less work for both of you with a house in town. If it wasn't for these cats, I really would think about a retirement village but I want to find one that has "up grades" to take care of me no matter what. You are so close to that wonderful place in Lee's Summit... John Knox Village. I have a number of friends living there in various types of housing. They just opened a new area to provide homes for those that can afford them, one of my classmates & husband just had one built & are finally "unboxed". He is a retired lawyer, & they have grandbabies in schools in the KC area so are thrilled with their choice. At least your news sounds good today!

Joy, Janie, Amy, Callie, Jean.... who else is rattling around in here these days????  Thanks for keep the ball rolling.

Jean, I hope FL has some nice weather for the holidays. My neighbors left today for a "slow drive" to take a son back that lives there. She didn't say how long they would be gone, only that her father would be in & out to take care of her pet chickens. They have the cutest chicken house, like a tree house that is insulated, ramp for them to go down & each a special nests for each to lay in, but now & then when we are visiting over the fence one of the "girls" will be cackling & fussing, and she says "it's because she wants the nest another is sitting on & is getting impatient!" I dearly love these neighbors, they are about the age of my sons & both are a delight.

Better go check on cats, I didn't go down to the river with them tonight, but did get the RV slide out & awning, to make sure none of the snow got trapped in to cause mold.... ran the generator long enough to make sure it doesn't get "gunked up". I would love to go to bed but will wait until the other computer gets finished with that darn update install. Son said there were more but don't think I am up to playing with it any longer today~~ I thought it was set on auto updates but son doesn't like doing that, don't know why because I leave the computers running all the time. They go to sleep after a little while & wake up when I wiggle the mouse. But with our lousy internet, maybe not good to do anything automatic.

Hope everyone has a beautiful week end.... weather is outstanding for this time of year here. Shirley

Well, SHIRLEY, I don't know about rattling around in here but I wrote a long post earlier and my computer froze in the SS.  The only way to unfreeze it was to exit and I lost my post.  I could have cried!

The gist of it was that I had a lot of outside errands to do, some with complications and one eye dr. appointment that took about an hour. I was happy to have them all work out and be finished.  Among other things, I happened to be passing the (relatively) new Mennonite store and popped in to see if they had any nice country hams.  They did and I bought one for our Christmas Dinner.

My envelope today was a gift card for my favorite shopping store...WalMart!  I'll make good use of that!

I also put out a call for JOY and even if I lost my post, she must have heard it because there she is!

Also added more advice  for SHIRLEY but I see she's already taking it so I won't repeat THAT!

I watched "Miracle on 34th Street" tonight.  It was the original with Natalie Wood as the little girl, Maureen O'Hara as the mother, John Payne as the lawyer and good old Edmund Gwenn as Santa Claus.  I love that movie!  It's just not Christmas if I don't get to see my faorites.

Also, when I went shopping, I went with a list and vowed that I'd not buy anything that wasn't on my list.  However, I was walking past the Electronics department and there was a display of old Christmas CDs on one of the endcaps and a Tony Bennet CD jumped right into my cart.  I tried to put it back but Tony reminded me that my CD of him was all scratched up and not working anymore so I let him stay.  Then, would you believe it!  As we passed the deli, he grabbed a container of Amish potato salad for me to eat for lunch while I listened to him sing.  And he refused to put it back.

And if you believe that, I have a nice piece of swampland in Florida that I'll sell cheap.

I got a lot done today and I'm tired so this will also be my sign off....if I don't lose it first.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..
Going to be a busy day here, need to get pies and cherry cheesecake done and do the start of the trifle. Make the nutz and bolts too. Will try to get garbage taken away also. Manage to get laundry done and hung on the line as yesterday was a lovely day . Today we are PLUS 4° and it is to be nice for the weekend.

If I am going to get all that done I had better put an egg.....ah....no I might need that egg for cooking. :)

Everyone stay safe and enjoy your day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I did not sleep well last night.  Maybe it was because I fell asleep earlier and I wasn't ready for a  full night.  Or maybe I just plain can't do a whole night any more.  Whatever!

Cathy texted last night to say she's going to the Amish Store early this morning and do  want to go along.  I asked her to text me when she gets up this morning and I'll tell her then.  I thought of a few things I need and I always like the company so I'm going along.  She hasn't texted me yet but she said "early" and they open at 8.  So I better put an egg.....no, I might need them for baking, too! I'll just get a wiggle on!  There's always lots of them around!

I didn't get the cookies mixed last night so I'm going to go get dressed and if Cathy hasn't texted by the time I'm dressed, I'll start mixing the cookies.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

18º here this morning.  I don't want any of that "below" stuff around here!

Good morning everyone, 13° and just might get into the 30's today. That would feel like a heat wave.

PHYLLIS  what your son says to you is what  my 3 say to me all the time yet is still feels wrong to me, feel like I should still watch over them. After all they are MY children no matter how old they get. I should not be taken care of by them. But I do love that they think of me. Like you I have a small crock pot simmering to keep some moisture in the air. I cut up an orange and a cinnamon stick , some whole cloves and whatever I have that will smell good in it. Since we cannot open windows even for a few minutes in here to bring in fresh air it helps with stale odors.

JOY  I wish I could do something. I cannot stand up on my own even, if I didn't have my rollator I wold not be able to move. Best thing I ever bought for myself.

SHIRLEY  with all you always did and all the cooking for your family gatherings I think you are just worn out. Try to relax and stop worrying. Get your paints out and do some painting, might relax you.

JANE  the original Miracle on 34th St. is really the only one to watch. Just like the original Stage Coach with John Wayne. They have remade it twice and once with Big Crosby, terrible. Can you imagine a remake of the Wizard of Oz? Would never be half as good as the original.

AMY  we are complaing about the cold here but you have it even colder. We expect this in January but not in December.

JANE  terrible when a good sleep down't happen. I know it happens to me at times.

Have a good day.

Nutz and bolts are made now to just finish off the cherry cheese cake and the blueberry cheesecake. Will make the raisin pie filling in a bit. Have all but one ingredient for the trifle but that can wait till Mon to get. Need to make up the plates to take to friends and then I can sigh a bit.
Callie, I forgot to tell you, while we were at DQ ,my husband didn't have room for his dessert (you notice HE didn't but I sure did ) I told the lady to give his to someone that would enjoy a sundae . While we were finishing up our meal she came to our table and gave us a pint of ice cream to take home!! What a surprise!!

Lloyd, I did sent it to that address...

Jenny have fun at the dance recital.

Gloria, I don't  think the "mothering " goes away no matter how old one is. We worry and stew but don't let on to them.

Jane, the only good thing that "below " weather is good for is killing germs!! I don't mind hugging the fire one bit.

Better get back at it...

I have the Sand Tarts mixed up and ready to cut and the Moose Farts chilling in the fridge ready to be rolled.  I think that might be all the cookies I make this year

I'm going to go get a shower and get ready to go to the Christmas Concert tonight.  My neighbor is picking me up at 7 and I better be on time.  I'm treating her for all the driving she does for me.  Should be nice Christmasy evening!  Later!

And you're right Shirley, they'll always be my "kids" no matter how old they get!

Good morning everyone, Welcome to Winter. HOORAY it is out of the teens this morning, 21°.Supposed to be 50 on Christmas day. After the freezing cold I can take  the 50.

LLOYD  since Cox did an upgrade I have had problems with my email, too. Glad I have 2 different email addresses because one works and one doesn't. Still waiting for my grandson to come and check it out.

JENNY  you are lucky you can still keep busy. No fun when one cannot get out of the house unless someone takes them.

AMY  OK now this mention of nuts and bolts has me wondering just what they are. Oh I  know the ones used with screwdrivers and other tools but I don't think that is what you are talking about. My Mom made raisin pie but I never ate it because I still do not like raisins. One of my brothers kept asking me if I had her recipe and I kept telling him she never had a written recipe. My 3 know I am a worrier. When I know they are traveling I worry, even my grands. My oldest son worries but not as bad as I do. My other son tells me I would worry if there was nothing to worry about.

SHIRLEY  so true, our children will always be our babies, no matter what age they are.

JANE between you and Amy making things I never heard on before I wonder where I have been. Sand Tarts?  I did send my daughter the recipe for the Moose farts and she made them for a meeting, the ladies loved them and asked what the name was and they laughed when she told them.

Have a good day.

Wow, we are a balmy +15°F out there this morning!! Need to make the trays for delivery today and not much else.
Gloria , nutz and bolts are a mixture of rice chex, cherrioes, pretzels ,shreddies and I threw in cheese nips also. Then you pour a sauce made of butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and you can add other spices too. Mix and then bake for 1 1/2 hours.

Lloyd ,hope you found more zz's on the couch!!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been to church, delivered the fruit cake and it was half gone when I left church.  Took Mickie for a looong walk BRRRRRR! It's cold out there...and bright sunny too.

Gloria, sand tarts are a dough that gets cut into shapes.  Their thin and crispy and once they're cut, we sprinkle them with sugar.  They're not a new recipe.  They came from my grandfather's bake shop back in the late 1800s and I suspect from HIS grandfather's bake shop before that.  It's the one cookie that my kids and I always made together when they were growing up.

AMY, Nuts and Boltz sounds delicious!  I started to copy it down and realized I don't have amounts of anything or an oven temp.  When you have time, would you email that stuff to me?  Thanks!

I'm waiting for this bright sun to be directly overhead and then I'm going to make a quick trip to WM.  I'm low on milk for the scalloped potatoes for Christmas dinner and I'm low on yogurt for the doggies.  I must learn to do that in my IP.....after Christmas!

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the day.  I slept a little better last night!  Maybe because I finished some of the chores.  Or maybe it was the Christmas music that lulled me!  Whatever it was, I'm grateful!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Got it just in time, AMY.  I'm on my way to WM for the last time before Christmas....I hope.

Yesterday's envelope from my daughter and her family contained a gift card to my second favorite place to buy groceries.  Don't know how widespread it is but it's called Giant and the only reason it's "second" is that they don't take my discount card.  Now I don't need the discount because their groceries are "free".

Gotta run!  Lots to do!

Everyone's goodies sound so good.  I have not gotten the urge to do any cooking or baking however.  A neighbor came earlier with a plate of cookies, a gift from the Condo Assn.

Dot and I went to church this morning and when we came out, she could not find her keys.  She looked all over, even went back into church to see if she had dropped them inside.  She had several people helping her hunt and maybe after 15-20 minutes, looked in her purse again and found the keys at the bottom of a pocket in the purse.  Then on to Mr Burger, aka Cholesterol Pit (a term coined by Norm years ago).  There were a lot of cars there but we found a parking place.  When we walked in the building, an employee told us there would be a long wait and I could not find a booth for us.  Dot decided we would go back to her place which we did and where she fixed me a couple of eggs and oatmeal for herself.  We gabbed for some time before I had her bring me home.

Oh my goodness, this has been a day and a half....I am totally shot!

Kurt and family flew in early this morning.  Bob went to the airport to get them as I was on the phone with Diane.  My dad fell (again) three times yesterday. He was disoriented and fell while trying to get in his chair....Diane's son and a neighbor got him picked up and in the chair...then later on he fell into the tub while he was in the bathroom.  He did not hurt himself that time either and Diane's son was there and got him upright and back to his chair.  Last evening about 7 he was going into the kitchen with his walker....felt dizzy and down he went.  He ripped the skin down 3 layers, I was told, on his arm and elbow.  Diane called her son and daughter to come, and they did, but they told her to call 911.  They arrived and got him upright to sit and then the paramedics came and took him to the ER. It took a good hour and a half to sew him up and when you look at the wound, you are shocked that they could even get it sewn up as there were deep cuts in several different directions.  Diane's son called me and told me that the medic that sewed him up was quite the guy as he sat right there and helped hand him the items he needed as the nurses were all so busy.  My dad had to sit out side in a transport chair for quite sometime while they waited for the ambulance to arrive as they were all out on calls.  They did release him to go home as they had no beds available even though he had a temperature.....bad bladder infection and pretty dehydrated.....Diane was not happy with the decision to not keep him in the hospital.  I just talked to him awhile ago and he sounds much better tonight than he did when I talked to him a few times earlier in the day.

The Boston Grandsons stayed here with us while the parents went to Costco and the grocery store.  We played games and chatted about school and the like.  Dr. Dave and the two boys came by to see them before they headed off to Vail where they will spend the week. Dave and the boys just returned from Vail.  They went up Friday night and skied all day yesterday....the weather was perfect and the6 had a wonderful time.

Now to Grandaughter Kate and her dance yesterday.  It was wonderful....two and a half hours of dancing plus two intermissions. There are 42 students in her dance school.  There were 50 total dances, and 15 Were solos, Kate's being one of them. I am prejudice, of course, but we think her solo was one of the top ones.  She told us she made one wrong move, but we certainly did not pick up on it.

AMY, I was ready to ask for the recipe for Nuts and Bolts, but then I recognized the items and the sauce are a recipe I already have.  My mama made this and so many other cookies and candy.  I did too for years, now we just do not need these goodies around our home for fear of eating them🤪🤣🤣.

That being said, I must ask you for the recipe for the sand cookies please, JANE.  I think I MUST make them as they sound like ones I just have to have😘😘

MARY ANN, sorry you had to go home to have breakfast due to no booth at the Cholesterol Pit.....what Dot fixed sounded fine except for NO CREAM PIE😩

BUBBLE, happy to read you bought yourself a Instant Pot....I hope the family enjoys the meal.

JANE, I have really enjoyed reading about your Christmas gifts you have opened each day....that is one really nice idea for a gift and I know you have enjoyed opening them daily.

GLORIA, Ido realize I am very lucky to be able to get out and about when needed.  I feel badly for you to be so dependent on your family for all outings.  I am sure they do not mind, but I know you do not like to ask them to take you anywhere unless it is totally necessary.

SHIRLEY, I have sure been thinking a lot about you as you are suffering the headaches.  I sure hope they can find something to get you some relief.

Kate and Michele went downtown to a live Nutcracker show this afternoon and they sure had a nice time.

The new avatar is my Kitty Cat Smokey.....he looked so royal with his Paws crossed, so thought I would share this with you all.

I wish you all a good night of rest.

We're here! And,although I'm tired, I'm not exhausted!

Family has gone to pick up Miss Ellen and have her show them how to get to Walmart for groceries.

And the Adventure begins.  :christmastree:  :wave2:

I'm finished!  The sand tarts are baked (I'll send you the recipe tomorrow, Jenny.  I think I have your email address)  They're easy to mix but not so easy to cut out and you have to really watch them when they're in the oven.  I'll remind you of all that with the recipe. And the Moose Farts are all rolled and ready to eat.  They are one short of what there should be...unless you count the dough I ate before it was rolled and I'm not telling you how short that would make it.

I feel so bad for your Dad JENNY, and it must be really difficult for Diane to deal with all this.  I will keep them in my prayers.

Seeing The Nutcracker live with my girls when they were growing up was one of the highlights of the Christmas season.  It's so nice that Michele and Kate could share that experience together!

CALLIE, we're waiting with bated breath to hear more news of your trip. It's going to be one of the shining experiences of your life and I'm so happy to be able to share it with you!

Now for today's envelope....it was a gift card for Kohl's Department Store.  I've always been able to find something I like when I go shopping there and I need some new church pants so, hopefully, that will be my find with this card.

Now I'm going to go to bed, hopefully to sleep better than I did the last two nights.  I'm really tired and I didn't nap at all today.  I also didn't get to the store for the last-minute groceries.  It as foggy on the way to church so I had lights on and I forgot them until I went back out at 1 to go to the store and the engine was dead.  My nice neighbor across the street brought his wife's car over and used my cables to jump start it and then I had to let I run and then drive it around for about 15 minutes.  Hopefully, it will start tomorrow.

And now, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone...

Last night was foggy and I hope the fog has lifted as will be delivering trays of goodies this morning. Need to clean the oven today and chase the dust bunnies. Cranberries were done last night so that job is in the rear view mirror. Just need to bake buns and wrap a few gifts when Mr Kyle is not around.

Jane, send me the recipe for the sand tarts too please. Doubt I will get them made for this Christmas but will have on hand for next. I think we all have had just as much fun as you opening your envelopes. So say thank you for us too please.

Jenny, oh my poor Dad. I agree they should have kept him in the hospital but that wasn't to be.I hope you had a good nights rest from all that. Smokey is pretty, aptly named.

Callie and what an adventure it will be......enjoy each second!

Mary Ann,  your day may not be one that you planned but you had one on one with a good friend. I still get a chuckle at the Cholesterol Pit name. Nice to have a quiet meal and enjoy each others company.

Better get a move on here..have a few things to do before we hit the road. Once the trays are delivered south of us we have to go into town and deliver two more for friends in the manor.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And it is a "good" morning!  I didn't get to bed until a few minutes after midnight and was up around 2 a.m.  However, my hand lit on the Melatonin bottle and I decided to take one before I went back to bed.  I slept like a log until 7:30 this morning and I feel great!

AMY, I'll send the recipe to both you and Jenny after I feed Mickie.  It's almost time for the boinger and I've added the two of you to today's list so I don't forget.

If the car starts, I'll be off to WM to get the last minute stuff including the stuff for Nuts and Boltz.  I don't know if that will get made but it's on the list.

Tomorrow will be cleaning day!  I don't worry about Frankie and Christy but I do worry about my SIL.  He's a good guy but he can be critical!  And also outspoken!

There goes the boinger....and my day begins!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Amy, most of my days are the same, with no planning, so a little detour is good for me.  Dot and I both like our time together after church so the change was not bad.  Possibly losing Dot's keys was more traumatic than changing brunch locations.  Fortunately, she found the keys.

I had an e-mail from a second cousin's daughter yesterday and she wrote what she is fixing for Christmas dinner.  I know she will have some of her family there and she is fixing enough for an army.  Oh, to be younger!

Annie had to rent a car to go north for the weekend and she is returning it this morning.  Tom is headed for the airport to give her a ride home.  Because she is under 25, she has to pay an arm and a leg in rental, but her SO sold the Mercedes and rental was the only way she could go north to her mother's.  Her SO  would not have let her drive the Mercedes up there anyway.

I still am trying to decide if I want to go to Jan's for Christmas or not.

Good morning everyone, wow woke late and just getting here at 9:am and we are in a heat wave, a whole 32° and sunny. Maybe I will go outside later. Have no t heard yet is I am getting a CNA today so not planning on one.

JANE I have not made scalloped potatoes in ages. My daughter still makes them and younger son makes the ones in a package, they taste like glue.

AMY  between you and Jane with all the baking and candy making before Christmas reminds me of all I used to be able to do. Now here I just sit most of the time feeling useless. Oh well, that is life, right? Enjoy what you do and keep going as long as you can.

JENNY  so sorry about you Dad. I know you want to be there with him. This town has a car for seniors to take to doctors appointments. You have to call as soon as you have an appointment because they only have 1 driver who does that 3 days a week. The other 2 days she drives a bus to take people to the only market in town and the other day they go to a shopping center. So for most appoinements I have I do not have to bother my son or DIL.

CALLIE  glad you made the trip OK, now just enjoy your time there.

Better get moving, been sitting here over an hour.

Have a good day.

Hello, Everyfriend!  The car behaved today and I got my errands done.  In fact, I finished everything on my list for today except for one thing that shouldn't take more than a half hour or so tomorrow.

And I talked to a friend today and learned that the last of my packages has been delivered by either UPS or the USPS and lots of people I love are eating chocolate.

I have the hard stuff done for the breakfast casserole I'm going to put together before I go to bed tomorrow night.  It shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes to assemble then it goes in the fridge for baking on Christmas morning.

Tomorrow is "get ready for company" day and stuff is laid out all over the house for that job. Then church and it will be time to welcome that special child into our lives.

I think sundown today was the beginning of the Chanukah celebration and I wish a special season to all of my Jewish friends including our special So P Bubble!

Now, since my eyes are trying to close, I'm going to go put a movie in and try to stay awake long enough to watch it!

I wish you all a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

well I started to bed and decided I had to come back and tell you all this bad news a friend of ours had yesterday evening.him and his wife in two separate vehicles. they had put together a large netifety cane of baby Jessie's in the manger. and hauled it into warrensburg an had it on display.where the had it had to take it down and take it home. they had have to a skid steer loader in there to put it up and down with. his wife was hauling the loader home behind a pickup truck when she hit one of those wave places on the highway. the trailer came unhooked went across the median and hit a car head on  Killing the driver of the car. that will haunt her the rest of her life. the are good christian people. she is a school teacher always doing something extra for her class. that is bad any time but especially this time of year. Pryor's are in order for all of both families. thanks Lloyd

Thank you all for your nice comments and prayer for my Dad.  He sounded so much better this morning. He said his arm does not hurt, unless he moves it 😩🤣. He is taking a very strong dose of antibiotics for the UTI daily and if we can just get him to drink water he should be feeling much better very soon.

We still had some running around to do today and did not get home until after dinner, so the "rechargers" are feeling pretty good tonight.

HAPPY HANUKKAH, BUBBLE.  I do hope your family enjoyed your special meal you made for them.

CALLIE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY 💐  Good to read you are all in Wisconsin safe and sound.  Enjoy your time together watching Miss Ellen in her play.

JANE, I thank you so much for sending me the recipe for the Sand Tarts.  I am going to try to make them mid day tomorrow IF we do not have problems finding and buying our traditional Christmas Eve meal with Dr. Dave's Family, live Dungeness Crab. The cookies may have to wait until next week, but I WILL make them before the end of the year😍

Nice to see your post, CAROLYN.  Happy that you are at Graham's in Brown's Bay.  Enjoy your time with the family. MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄

LLOYD, I am so very sorry to read your sad news about your friends terrible accident.

I am going to head off to bed. Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone, 33° so above freezing to start the day. Glad I woke early. CNA is coming early so she can quit early today. Thought I would be nice and not insist on a later time. Hope I gave myself enough time to shower before she gets here. My son called yesterday and said he would pick me up at 11 tomorrow. Most likely I might not make it in here. I was hoping he would make it at 1. But I know he and my DIL will be busy so the ear ly time will be better for him. Going to be a long day for me. Best part is I will get to see my little one. Christmas is always better with a child around. They get so excited opening their gifts.

LLOYD  I hope Nancy did not do much damage to her back. No fun when a back is hurting.

AMY  after the cold temperatures we had seeing it above freezing now feels great.

Well my bathroom must be warm enough now. Have the heater running  so it will be warm when I get out of the shower. Nothing worse for me than getting out of the shower into a cold room and start shivering.

In case I do not make it here in the morning I wish you all a very wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I try to give myself this time while we wait for the boinger for Mickie's pill.  Once she's fed, my day will begin with a "hoot and a holler"!  Lots to do today before my daughter and SIL arrive from Maryland!

Last report for today on THE BOX from my family.  It was a gift certificate for the movie theater right here in town. Sometimes they have a movie that my friend and I would like to see or that I'd like to see with Kiran or my daughter and now I can do that without thinking twice.

LLOYD, prayers for your friend and her family and for the family of the other driver.  That must be very hard to handle especially for someone who is used to giving.

JENNY, I'm glad your father is feeling better.  I hope that continues.

AMY, slow down and enjoy the holiday!

I think I remember seeing that CALLIE with celebrate her birthday on the 27th.  That was my husband's birthday also.  Enjoy your own special day, CALLIE!

I have to see if I can find out when my daughter and SIL will arrive today so I can be finished and ready to visit when they do.

Just in case......

Hello Everyfriend!  These last two days have been the highlight of my year...maybe even longer!  I can't remember when the last time was that I woke up on Christmas with loving family in my house!  Even now it's hard to talk about it without tears in my eyes.  If there is such a thing as a perfect day, this was it!  I'll share some of the details some other time. I have a very loving, caring and sharing family and I wonder what I ever did to deserve them!

Good Night my friends and I wish the same love in your lives!  You all deserve it, too!  God bless us, one and all!

Good morning everyone, I had a wonderful time yesterday and enjoyed the dinner. My little one had to sit next to me at the table, he about talked my ears off. Ikept shoveling food in his mouth so he would stop while he chewed. Of course I enjoyed every bit of it. My DIL had a Crown roast of pork and it just about was so tender it didn't  need much chewing.  My son brought me home before all his inlaws decended for the family gathering. I know all of them but didn't think I could take the crowd and noise. They are a close family and I knew most of them before my son and DIL even started dating.

AMY  glad you liked that JL card I put in. I know I liked tha t one, too.

JANE  I got gift certificates too, to stores I like. My son looked at me and said after the New Year he would take me shopping when I want. My daughter's birthday is the 27th and my baby will be 66 tomorrow. Wow does that make me feel ancient.

CALLIE  sounds like with seeing your grandaughter on stage performing was about the best Birthday gift you could get.

Have a good day.

NOW I'M RETIRED!  Nowhere to go and nothing that is hollering to be done.  I'm still in a bit of daze from yesterday. but I have to share the last envelope in the box from my daughter and SIL and my granddaughter and GSIL.

It was 6 lottery tickets.  I've never bought a lottery ticket in my life and I didn't even know what to do with them.  Christy was here and she showed me and we scratched them off together.  The first 5 had nothing and I was working on the last one and the second row had the matchers.  It was worth $50.  I commented that I wondered if you could get more than one match on a card and decided you probably couldn't when another line matched for another $50.  I kept scratching and then another one matched for $100.  Now I was really in shock but I scratched off the last two lines and got another match....for $300. Now I was really in shock.  That one card is worth $500.  I still find it hard to believe!  But so far my family is delighted!  And I think I won't really believe it happened until I have the actual money in my hand later today!  The kids were all cheering!

I have to go get dressed because Frankie has a DR. apt this morning and I'm going with her.  Then we're going to stop and pick up my winnings.  I'm going to hold it for a while and then it goes in the bank.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Laundry is done, may tackle the freezer......may...not sure yet.

Thanks, Everyfriend for the nice comments.  It's still hard for me to believe even with the money in hand.  I've decided it goes straight to the bank and into my "special savings account" to be there for emergencies or barring an emergency, for a special want or need!  But it will really have to be special to spend that!

I have to return a call to the electrician/plumber who is doing some work on my house.  I somehow missed his call yesterday.  He probably called when the zzzzs caught up with me and I was out like a light.  I didn't get his message until right before I crawled into bed.

I have a load of towels in the washer right now and I put away the clean dishes from my visitors and Christmas dinner, took Mickie out and will feed her in a minute.  The towels are just finishing in the washer and I'll toss them in the dryer and then feed us both.

LLOYD, I'm glad to hear Nancy is feeling better from her mishap with the heavy tool.  Sorry to hear that she's got the sniffles.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning everyone..

Thick fog out there this morning...temp is 30° F  .We are to get rain also today.

The freezer didn't get touched, we had company, my son and a friend came for a visit. This time I did remember to send the raisin pie, bread plus a lot more home with him. Now we have more room in the fridge.
Not sure what today will bring,I know I will take Kyle over for coffee this morning and that is it. Until the van gets fixed I don't want to go far.

Lloyd, good to hear Nancy's side is better..

Callie, I would share our snow with you but with the temps as they are plus rain that is to come we may not have snow either.

Sandy, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Phyliss, may the coming year be much better for you.

Mycheal, all the best to you in 2020.That seems so strange to write 2020. Looking back I remember the fear when it was to be 2000.

Joy, hope you had an enjoyable Christmas with your family.

I did something different yesterday, had my coffee while posting here, had breakfast and then went into the bedroom to get dressed and instead got into bed and slept till after 11:am. This morning you can tell I slep late again fonr the time I am posting 10:am now and here I am with my coffee. Glad I don't have help early today.

AMY  I think many feel in a food coma after all holiday meals except for the ones who have to get food in the fridge and do dishes. I used to head for the sink to wash dishes, to me that was the easiest thing.

JANE  what a wonderful gift that last enveleope was. Maybe now you can get something you really wanted but thought you could not afford or hold on to it till you need it.

AMY  since my oldest son retired he has been  doing a lot oooking, trying different things. He sure helped my DIL with yesterday's meal. Their son does most of the cookin‌g at his home. My second son does just about all the cooking while his fat wife does most of the eating.. OOPS should't have said that

LLOYD  hope you slept as good last night as I did.

AMY  when I pulled up the shades and looked out I wondered if it had been foggy earlier. Still not too clear oout and looks like another gloomy day like yesterday.

Have a good day.

Hello to all my S & F friends!  Christmas has come and gone here at the residence, topped off with a turkey dinner with all the fixins'. No snow to be seen , so it was definitely a green Christmas.  It's amazing how many folks were here at Christmas and equally amazing at what a joyful time wee had on our own. wish the best of the season to you.

A Good Friday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND ☃️

Food coma is a real thing here at our house also. Even when one does not eat that much, when you try a little bit of everything it adds up quickly.

I enjoyed reading all of your posts, but JANE, yours was the most exciting one, and I am SO 💕 SO HAPPY for you!  No one else could ever deserve a nice windfall like this than YOU sweet lady❣️ I think I could hear the cheering of the family all the way here in Colorado😘 I have shared this wonderful gift idea that your family gave you this year, with many and EVERYONE thinks it is a wonderful gift idea!  Kudos to them😍😍

We, too, had a wonderful couple of days.  Being one of the blessed ones, as many of us definitely are......it could not have been any nicer OTHER THAN IF ALL of the family could have been together🙏🙏

We were with Dave, Michele and the children for Christmas Eve.  This was their 16th year of their traditional crab fest🦀🦀🦀.  Dave has it down to a science on just how long to boil the crab and it is perfect!  The children are so excited to be outside with dad, playing a bit with them as they are alive when we buy them!  It is quite the sight to see.  Luke, the second son was the one that ate the most crab...he was first to start and last to finish.  He was cracking that crab like he was a professional😘 We also had a beautiful Yule Log which is also part of the tradition.  We all enjoyed Daddy reading the Night Before Christmas and then it was time for the kiddos, and grandparents to head off to bed🥱🥱😴😴
Christmas morning was wonderful as always, and everyone enjoyed it🥰

We came home with Lola the Doodle Doggie, as Dave and Family were flying to Arizona the following day.  They are going to visit my Dad today and they were all so excited.

After we got cleaned up, we headed off to our youngest son and DIL's home for Christmas Dinner. Of course Lola went with us as she and Brian's Dog Oliver Doodle are besties and love to play together.  Brian and Cathy fixed the most beautiful and tasty prime rib dinner.  They both love to cook and everything is freshly made, including the salad dressing and we ALL enjoyed everything so much.  There was no room left in the tummy for the apple pie, so they cut a piece to share and the rest of the pie as well as all left overs from the meal were sent home with us.  There is enough prime rib left for two more meals.  We will be having left overs today and I am really looking forward to it!  We ate very lightly yesterday as we were still full, and I thought I probably would not eat for a week🤪....and yet here I am ready to tie in to it again❣️

I must get this posted before I loose it as I have a few things I have to go do.....I wish you all a very nice day.

Jenny

Don, we have snow to the north of you but if it rains what little we have will be gone. Must be about 5-6 inches of snow so far.
Nice to see you...please come back more often.

Jenny, bet you are more than ready for a cat nap. Sounds like a great time to be had at your sons.

Jenny, what a nice Christmas you had.  Isn't it nice that you have so many good cooks in the family to treat you.  I like Jane's gift too and wonder how I could do with it - on the giving, not receiving.  Giving checks is much appreciated, but so "cold".

Not driving any more, I don't really care if it snows or not, but like Don, we had a Green Christmas and I hope it lasts through the weekend.  Saturday we will go to Holland MI for our Christmas with Tom's family and that includes the twins.  I had a nice day on Christmas with Jan (Terry's widow) and family; there were six of us.  Jan gave me a bouquet that included something that smells like cinnamon - lovely smell.  Tom went to his friend, Robin's, on Christmas Day.

This morning, we met Tom Harton of Indianapolis; it is his house I stay at when I go to Indy later in the year.  He was here with friends to go to a Tiki restaurant, an interest of the friends.  We met Tom at the Holiday Inn Downtown and had breakfast there and after that, Tom Tock drove us around downtown so Tom H could see what has been going on here.  It has been many years since Tom H had been here and it was nice to see him in Grand Rapids for a change.

The cat and I have both had naps.  I'm not ready for lunch, but I will finish the rest of my breakfast that I brought home - a wrap.  Kendrick is continuing his nap.

Mary Ann

Good morning everyone..

We had rain during the night  I bet the driveway is a skating rink now. Not sure what today will bring but think it is a good time to start purging. Will take items to the Sally Ann next time we head to the city.

Still no Joy ,Phyliss or Shirley...I hope it is because they are having a good time.

Mary Ann, we have been enjoying wraps also. Some I will put in the George Forman and others just cold. Makes for an easy meal. Would the cinnamon flowers be carnations?

Lloyd, we are 26 ° F with a light breeze at the moment.  Good for you on getting the 7.5 hours sleep!!

Enjoy your day everyone,

I'm up and right now in waiting mode.  After I dropped Frankie off at her apartment yesterday, the dr. office called her and wanted her to go to the hospital for more tests.  She got scared and called her mother and I had overnight guests again last night.  They are at the hospital now.  And I'm waiting here in a snit.

I have things to do and I'll get started when I finish here but waiting is one of the hardest things I do!

I hope SHIRLEY, PHYLLIS and JOY are OK!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

A good sunny and warm morning to you All.  It is 55 deg. right now and supposed to go to 72.  Strange weather, even for N. Carolina.

I'm doing OK. Taking it pretty easy these days and being very lazy.  David gave me a beautiful faux fur lap robe for Christmas and I have been spending a LOT of time snuggling under it and feeling a bit decadent and sinful.

I've enjoyed so much reading about all of your Christmas festivities with friends and family.  And I agree that Jane's surprise gift in the very last envelope was something wonderful and very well deserved.  The opening of all the envelopes was so much fun for me, too, Jane.  Thank you for sharing.

I'm going to try to move around a little bit more today.  I should go out because it is a beautiful day and we won't receive a gift like this too often in the rest of the winter, I'm afraid, but I'm not sure if I'll feel up to tackling the outside world and all of it's "bustle and busyness".

I should be back here before 2019 is over but just in case..

HAVE A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR, ALL MY FRIENDS!

Good morning. We got back to son's house about 7:00 last night.  Will be going to my home as soon as someone is up and functioning well enough to take me.  So far...just dil and me having our first cups of coffee and tea.

Janie, prayers for Frankie...

More later when I don't have to "hunt and peck" on tablet.

Good morning everyone, late getting started today but I am retired and my  time belongs to me, right?

JOAN  now that Christmas is over and you do not have all the cooking to do your time will be yours except for your fur baby or appointments.

DON  so good to see you again. Sounds like you had a good Christmas and meal. We had a green Christmas here, too. Not often we have a fresh snow at Christmas

JENNY  I enjoyed all the food at my son's Christmas but just a little of every thing. There was a time I would have a plate full but I could have used a lunch plate and it still would not have been full.

AMY  the only snow we have here is a little pile left from the plow.

LLOYD  don't think I even got 5 hours sleep last night.

JANE  prayers for Frankie that nothing is seriously wrong for her. I know when I have to go for tests I get worried but so far every thing is OK. Waiting for word from family is a terrible feeling for me, too.

PHYLLIS  it is 40° here now and for a change it is sunny with a beautiful blue sky. Don't know if I will go out later or not. My son will be here in about an hour and I might walk out to his car with him.

CALLIE  glad you are back and will soon be home. Waiting to hear about your trip and the play.

Have a good day.

I'm here, just "fragmented". The lunch party yesterday went so well with my grown kids & spouses... they seemed to thoroughly enjoy all the memory foods & did eat hardy. My daughter came with a new iPad for me so set that up but so far don't have Friends on so more of "fragmented", my brain doesn't cope with laptop, cell & iPad being on the same wave length. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the Christmas talk & presents and was as tickled at Janie's lottery win as if it was my own!!! And now I am praying that the call back for Frankie has proven nothing alarming....please, God!

We still have family gathering Sunday so after that.... I can slow down. Headache still hanging on so first thing I am going to do is make an appointment with the lady optometrist recommended by my doctor's nurse. Eyes really are giving me fits with poorly fit glasses the last few years. I am up & down steps like a normal person so feeling smug about this knee. Not TOO smug because that gets one in trouble, right? Gotta gas my little car today, have a dollar off per gallon & since nobody else needs gas, will blow it on about 8- 10 gallons for the Encore. All through the years I have bargain shopped for new Christmas decoration AFTER.... but will skip this year since I didn't put out many & know it is time to slow down, what goes up must come down & that isn't nearly as fun when each box must be hauled up & down those steps!  Wishing all a wonderful day. We have rain but much warmer than normal, 55 degrees at wake up time!

A good Saturday to all the Soda Shoppe friends.

I have not checked in for a couple days.  Have not been feeling real good, and I had to have some minor surgery yesterday and have been taking it real easy.

Nothing serious, just annoying.  I just need some rest.

Sounds like everyone had a nice Christmas.  Mine was a quiet day spent just with my immediate family.  We do not have any little ones to share the day with, so basically, it is just another day.

Not sure when I will get to see the little great-grands !

Ginny, your Christmas crab dinner sounds unusual.  Not sure if you are familiar with our "Maryland Steamed blue crabs", but they are probably a lot different than the crabs you had.  We do not "boil" crabs....only steam them.  I know out on the Pacific coast they usually have Dungeness crabs, and I am not really sure what they are.  I will stick with our Maryland steamed crabs.  Of course, right now, no Maryland crabs, but lots of places still serve them, only they usually come from Louisiana this time of the year.  Sometime, when you have a few minutes. google "Maryland Steamed Blue Crabs and you can see what I am talking about.

Jane, sure will be thinking good thoughts for Frankie.  I know how concerned you are, and hope it turns out to be nothing.

I am being very lazy for the weekend.  Nothing I have to do, so I will be like Phyllis and snuggle up in my nice fleece cover.

Happy New Year to all !!!

Joy

We had a lovely Christmas this afternoon with Tom's son, James, and family.  The twins were very good, as they usually are.  A gift for the girls was a cupboard that my dad made for me when i was about five.  it had been repainted and looked very nice; the girls liked it very much.

Both Tom and I took naps when we got back home and I'm ready for another but I'll wait until time for bed.

I hope everyone had a nice day today.

Good morning everyone.

Had family stop in for a visit and exchange gifts. Will have more on Tue ,weather permitting. We are to get freezing rain starting later today and into tomorrow.
Today is a day of rest, which I am going to take advantage of. Lots of food in the fridge and I put a pot of baked beans on yesterday to have.

Jane, hope all is well there...

Lloyd, hope you had a good nights sleep.

Mary Ann, I laughed when you said you both needed a nap. We had two little ones here yesterday and it was fun to watch them.

Joy, hope you are feeling better . The holidays mix everyone one up.I have trouble remembering what day it is and must admit I will be glad when we are back on schedule.

Shirley, hope the Dr.s get to the bottom of all this for you. Maybe new glasses are the answer to stop your headaches???

Gloria,if we get the rain they are calling for I may need to get my kayak out!!

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning every one, a frosty 31° . Just listened to local weather, going to start raining this evening and all day tomorrow. Might be mixed with sleet and snow. Rather have all snow and no ice mixed in it. When I pulled up the shades and looked out every thing has a coating of frost. The cars all covered and white with frost. Yesterday when my son was here I went out with him when he left and I sat outside about an hour, felt like an early spring day instead of winter. Now tomorrow we will know it is winter with the storm coming in.

SHIRLEY  looks like you had a good Christmas with your family. When you mentioned your eyes made me realize I was having trouble reading here this morning. Then I took my glasses off and wow were they dirty, had to stop and clean them so now I can see good again. I have stopped putting my tree up. A small one in a bag all decorations and lights on it but still too much trouble to move things to get it in the window. Rather have my plants get the light.

JOY  good seeing you show up. Sorry you had some surgery, small or big it was still surgery. My little great grandson was at my son's home and he was so good and not wanting to open his gifts till after we had dinner. When I have a lazy day I stay in my fleece robe and lay on the couch with the TV on.

MARY ANN  so nice to see something like that cupboard your dad made you passed down over the years.

LLOYD  looks like the rain you had is headed this way starting tonight but mixed with snow and ice.

AMY  nothing as good as home made baked beans. In winter months my Mom made them every Saturday and boy they were so good. Baked slow in the oven all day. Love your fat cat.

JANE  wondered where you were.

Time for me to go make my breakfast.

Have a good day.

Good Morning everyone. It is 45º and mostly cloudy and headed for 53º today. I had a hard time getting to sleep even with my helper pill but 7.5 hours with bypapt on, but also it said showed bad leakage, dos that when I don't clean shave at night and I did not shave last night. so if you girls get a kiss this morning it will be scratchy one. have a good day. my internet was down this AM so had to re load it, think it is ok now.

I'm up and started getting ready for church, got part way dressed and called Dot to tell her I am not going to church today.  I'm tired.  Tom will go, I am sure, and I will try to get more sleep while he is gone.

My dad would be so pleased to see the girls and the cupboard he made.  I figured he was their second-great-grandfather.  The girls were opening the doors and drawers and put things in and took things out.  Alicia said she knows where it will go; they have little wall space what with other furniture, but there is one space just made for the cupboard.  I hated to see it go because it was in use, but I'm happy to see how the girls took to it.

Today is starting out dreary but no snow predicted.  I feel for the  young kids who got snow playthings for Christmas but cannot use them.  This may be one of our lighter years, however, January and February can be brutal.

It is a gray day here but another warm one.  Winter will return on Tues. so "they" say.

Great minds think alike, Amy.  Well....almost alike.  I am having Homestyle Pork and Beans with Leftover Pork Roast for today's dinner.  After all the rich food over the holidays a good old-fashioned dish of beans sounds so good to me.  I must go mix it up and get it ready to put in the oven for later.  Enjoy your pot of beans.  I haven't baked a good pot of Boston Baked Beans for many years and we used to love it with a meaty ham hock buried deep in it and that sweet, long simmered taste.  It was one of Tom's all-time favorites.

Hope the news about Frankie was good, Jane.

Take care, All.

Phyliss, I did cheat and made the beans in the IP..so easy to do. :) Now I can warm them up in the oven on the cookstove..have some buns left that were made the other day.

Greetings all -apologies for being absent. Our oldest son has been here for a week and we took him to the airport yesterday and will pick him up in another week so can can stay with us his last week in Tucson.  Snow on the hills and the sun is shining.  It is too chilly to sit outside.

Thought of all of you - here are the replies.

Jenny:  Prayers

Gloria: Don't mess with Gloria!   :) Good for you - make that helper do some work.   That is what she is being paid for - assisting.

Jane:  Sweet gifts -sounds just great.

Don - Radioman:  Keep in touch. Very nice to see your note.

Phyllis:  We have tried the online grocery shopping several times and just pick it up in the designated spots.  It still has glitches but oh, how nice not to walk that concrete floor.

Shirley:  So sorry for your pain.  Could it be a sudden allergy?

Hugs to all.

Good morning everone, 33° and raining. Might have snow-ice mixed in before this is over and supposed to be like this till tomorrow. Talk about a blue Monday I think this would be one. I know I will be stuck inside again. I will be sitting in the lobby later with others who get together every day.

LLOYD  not nice when we have trouble sleeping, happens to me at times and I feel groggy all day from lack of sleep. Hope last night was better for you.

MARY ANN  at years we have had a lot of snow in March, too. Not nice when we are more than ready for spring.

PHYLLIS  still cannot beat the taste of home made beans. My pler son has been making them at times and always brings me some and I really enjoy them.

AMY  I think I mentioned that in the cold months my Mom would put beans in the old cook stove on Saturday mornings. Almost every Saturday night some of the family would come to play cards with my parents and end up with coffee beans and toast. I always thought the beans were what  they really came for.

CAROL  when I was working that is what I did, I worked and even if we talked and laughed we still were working. I remember one CNA I had when I first started getting help-a young one. she sat down and pulled out her iPad to start playing on it. I was shocked and tole her she was supposed to k, that is what she was getting paid for. I got a dirty look from her and she put it away. Some are great and always looking for something to do. I will be getting online later to order groceries delivered. Been very good so far.

LLOYD  gald you slept better and Nancy is feeling better.

Goodness no one posted since Lloyd last night. I must be early.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

The rain started last night along with ice pellets. When the dogs were let out for their last time the step was icy so I sanded it . Not sure what the roads are like but just now here a vehicle so they may be ok. I need to take the van in for repairs this morning and will be doing the happy dance once it is fixed. Tis an awful sound coming from the left front. Will take the day as it comes after the appointment.

Gloria, your helpers forget that if not for you they wouldn't have a job. In a sense you are paying them to work and gosh to come in and sit is not what they are being paid for.

Carol ,are you still quilting?

Jane, hope all is well there..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning everyone. well I had a bit better night and Nancy had a lot better one than she has in a long time, she is up dressed  for the day and in the kitchen Making a meat loaf. she is a good cook in every way. part of her life she was a cook for one of the dorms at the collage in warrensburg M O . they would at one time Have as many as 300 seated and before the noon meal feed 600 and before morning meal was fenished they were doing noon meal. the problem is she still wants to cook like we still have children at home. and it hard not to eat like I am still working hard out side instead of being a couch jockey. we had a skiff of snow last night, just enough to make the deck white but not enough to cover the grass. Is 32º and calling for high of 35º. Have a great day and a better tomorrow. Janes glad you are retired, Now do not quit just slow the pace and do with others just what you like.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Yesterday I was retired...in every sense of the word.  I did next to nothing around the house.  I took Mickie for 3 walks - 2 long and 1 short and I watched TV last night.  I ate leftovers all day so I didn't even cook.  I did go to church so I was good.

Frankie and I have a project going and I tried to finish it up yesterday and I got stuck on the technical stuff.  So when she up and attem today she's going to call me and we're going to do a couple of errands and then she's coming here and finishing the technical stuff for me.  I have lots of reasons to be glad she's back in town.

As for her health, she still has to make an appointment with a specialist at Geisinger Medical Center and I'm not sure when that will be.  She's feeling much better but we all know that the appointment is necessary.  I appreciate all the prayers from my friends here.

MARY ANN, what a nice gift for the little girls to have a family thing.  And how nice of you to give it up.  I've often wished that I had some of the things my grandfather and my father made for me when I was growing up.  But they are all gone!

SHIRLEY, I sure hope you are feeling better, too!  And I hope you find the source soon!

AMY, I've received the fall-out from that rain, too.  Thank goodness it's not freezing here either but as GLORIA said, it started yesterday and is still here and is supposed to last all day today and into the night.  I too am glad it's not freezing but rain and clouds in the winter are so DREARY!

I think I'll go get dressed so that when Frankie calls, I'll be ready.  I can always goof off AFTER I'm dressed!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

GOOF OFF if you feel like it!

I am in to stay!! Got the vehicle fixed and it is so nice not to hear the clunk in the front end, turned out it was a sway bar link. Roads are a mess, freezing rain then rain, can't seem to make up its mind but a good place to be is off the roads and inside.
Now to go goof off. :)

Can you handle one more Christmas report?  The Wisconsin trip was great in every way (especially because I had absolutely no "issues" at any point!)

The Christmas show was very simply done - no "glitzy" sets or props - but costumes were great and it was obvious that the 6 gals and 6 guys in the Ensemble cast were each a professional level singer and dancer.

In addition to the several group numbers...
Miss Ellen was "featured" as a Hawaiian dancer in "Santa Takes Mrs. Claus Around The World In His Sleigh"; numbers were Christmas songs from various countries.
She danced (sort of "acrobatically") as "Raggedy Ann" in a number featuring music from "The Nutcracker" and sang a duet of "Winter Wonderland" in a beautifully done Victorian set of traditional Christmas ballads.
Then she was one of 4 "groupies" when "Elvis" sang "Blue Christmas".  He was interrupted by Santa and the groupies' attention turned to him.  That led to a "jazzy" version of "Santa Baby".  (I'm not sure Brother was too impressed by Sister flouncing around using her "Betty Boop" voice!  ;D )

Our Air B&B condo was fantastic and I had an afternoon of quiet time while the rest of the family enjoyed an Activity Center with miniature golf, a zip line, rock climbing and all sorts of Arcade games.

After a late Christmas brunch, we all went to a movie.  The four "girls" saw the new version of "Little Women" (very good; I recommend it) and the two guys saw something with Adam Sandler. Our evening Christmas dinner was steak and baked potatoes in the condo. One of the girls from the cast, who wasn't able to go home, joined us.  Lots of fun listening to her and Ellen "telling tales" about their experiences.

Our weather was fantastic - didn't even need heavy coats!!

#2 son/dil could not go because she had a hip replacement right after Thanksgiving.  So we gathered at their house yesterday for pizza and gift exchange with them.  Instead of hauling packages back and forth, Ellen's mom took pictures of the gifts they were giving family who went to WI and we looked at them on Christmas morning - then opened the packages when we got back to their house Friday night.

Thus endeth the saga of "Callie's Granddaughter's Big Gig".  :smitten:

Now, of course, Domestic Duties call.
"Get busy, Callie"!!!!

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Loving the reports of everyone's holidays.... sorry my messages have been so full of whines & downers, in spite of ongoing head problems, learning to cope better & finding much to smile about.

Callie, such a joy to find a young person living her dreams and having the whole family going to great lengths to show support! I'll bet there wasn't another person in the group that had more family cheering them on. Proud to know all of you!

Mary Ann, had a warm feeling reading that you passed on that treasure to the twins... and in MY world, know that your father is not just touched but happy to know it will keep on being treasured. I hope it passes on more generations, maybe you need to make sure a photo of you and your father passes along with it???

Amy, glad you got the vehicle fixed, nothing worse than a "lump-lump" or growl to make one nervous. I'm waiting on snow but kind of relieved it didn't show up this week. Daughter should be back in St.Louis by now, they have been going full steam for more than a month, with their kids coming & them going.

When I get through here I will send Bubble a photo of a Christmas present from #1 son & wife... a throw of all my great grands.... don't know where I will put it but so cute I'm debating whether to hang someplace. Thinking...

So much more, I could talk all afternoon but know I do get carried away & will get a chance to say more.... later.....

Jane, I goofed off today....and if anyone says anything I will just say you told me too. ;D

Callie, that sounds like great entertainment that you enjoyed.

Shirley, the sound is gone and it didn't hurt the pocket book too much so I am happy. We need snow to cover this ice here.limbs are groaning with the iced limbs. All in all it could have been worse so we are truly  blessed we didn't get what was called for.

Since I have goofed the day in  I might as well finish the goofing off in the hot tub..

SHAME ON ME.....I have been so lazy today.  I can hardly bring myself to do much of anything.

Yesterday was a delightful day.  We picked up easy things for our meal together at our youngest son and DIL's home.  A spiral ham,  pre-made scollop potatoes, pre-made Mac and cheese, a bag of beautiful Brussel Sprouts, a veggie tray and some dinner rolls.  The four of us watched the first half of our Bronco Game, before the oldest son and family arrived about 3.  We all had a wonderful visit and everyone enjoyed the meal.  Before we knew it the time came that Bob and I needed to head for home.  We are still watching Lola Doodle as Dave and Family did not return from Arizona until nearly 10 PM.  THE Boston Family stayed at Brian's Home, as the Boston DIL is highly allergic to cats and can not stay here at our home😢😩.  They came by and picked a Bob up around 6:30 so he could drive them to the airport as we will keep Kurt's car here at our house as he will return over Presidents Day Weekend with college friends and they will all stay at his place in Vail and get some skiing in.

AMY, glad the van is fixed and there are no more sounds coming from it.  I do hope it was not too high of a cost to get it fixed!  Loved your BURP KITTY, 😂😂

GREAT to see your post DON. I sure miss not having more contact with you.....especially on the weekly Sunday Afternoons😢😢. HAPPY as can be to see you as Santa again💕💕

SHIRLEY, it was good to read that your family meals all went well also and everyone enjoyed the time together.  I certainly hope and pray that getting a eye exam and possibly new glasses will take care of the terrible headaches for you....some has to give soon....how much more can you take?

CALLIE, I enjoyed every word you posted about your weekend in Wisconsin.  It certainly sounded like everyone enjoyed the time together.  I am very happy that you were able to go and be a part of it.  Will Miss Ellen have any time off before she heads back to NYC?

JANE, I do hope what ever medical issue Frankie is dealing with she will be able to get it taken care of soon.  Good thoughts and special prayers for her and all of you as it certainly does effect the family.  I do hope she was able to help finish your project today when she arrived.

JOY, I have had crab steamed as well.....not sure I have had Blue a crab on the East Coast, but as I mentioned we caught them in Mississippi years ago when we lived there.  I have seen soft shelled crab on many menus but have only had them on the Easter Coast.

CAROL, good to see your post.  It has been a bit too cool down your way recently, hasn't it?  We enjoyed a few very nice days here with mid to upper 60's then another cold front came through and dropped about 4 to 5 inches on us Saturday and it has been VERY cold!  I wanted to get out today but I just do not want to deal with the snow, so I am staying in!  Happy your son has been there visiting you.  Glad he will be coming back!

PHYLLIS, nice to see your post as well....the pork and beans sure sounds yummy.

I have lost this, post twice, but thankfully I kept saving it....I hope I did not leave anyone, out.

Have a great evening, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

Hello, Everyfriend!  It's been another lazy day around here.  Frankie and I did our errands and then headed here to get warm and dry.  I really do detest rainy days in the winter.  They are so weary!

We finished the project and now we wait for the results!  It took Frankie about 5 minutes to do what I'd been wrestling with for over an hour yesterday.  Today's kids are so computer savvy and they don't even think twice about it.  It's just there!

I'm glad all seems to be going well or getting better with all of you and I pray that continues.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! And may God bless us, every one!

Jenny,  Ellen flew back to NYC today.  I think she already has her work hours scheduled for the rest of the week.  She now works at Flywheel, an exercise place with bicycles.  They had put her on "vacation leave".  She also has 20 days of Jury Duty.  That will be a new experience!!!
BTW,  we were in The Dells for 5 days - not just a weekend.  Add on 2 1/2 days travel time (flying and driving) plus spending the night before we left and the night we got home with son/family....and I was away from home for almost 8 days.

Unfortunately,  I came home with what seems to be the old-fashioned pinkeye in one eye.  Fortunately, it didn't "hit" until we were on the way home - since I didn't have the right eye drops with me and wouldn't have been able to do hot compresses, etc.  It looks awful but I can tell it's a little bit better.  All indications are that I just have to "wait it out".  Fortunately,  I don't have any place I need to go this week.  I'd planned ahead so have food.
Did laundry today and started putting away Christmas things bit by bit.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Good morning everyone...

Lightly snowing here this morning which is a blessing, This new snow will stick to the ice and make walking not so treacherous!

Family coming today and we are not sure when so will put a IP of cabbage roll soup on to be ready. Have lots of other goodies for dessert .
Will take Kyle out for his coffee this morning, because of road conditions yesterday I just scurried home but I did pick him up a Timmies to have.

Can you believe 2020 is upon us? Do you remember all the hype and fear when we reached 2000? How times have changed and not necessarily for the better in some thing.

Lloyd, luck and prayers for you today that all works out well.

Jane,I am so amazed at the kids and their savvy with computers etc. Best of all is the time you spent with Frankie.

Callie, hope your eye is feeling better.

Jenny,have fun with Doodle!!

Guess I had better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I had overnight company last night.  Frankie decided to spend the night last night.  I think she's a bit worried about her appointment later this week and was seeking company.  I'm glad I was available.

Also, I clean forgot to comment on my "proxy granddaughter's" successful stage adventure.  CALLIE, you must be so proud of her!  She sounds like a very special person.  She's taking charge of her life and making it turn out the way she wants it to turn out!  I'm glad I can be a part of that in some small way!  Also, I hope your eye is much better today!  I've never had pinkeye myself but I've treated it for one of my kids growing up.  No fun!

LLOYD, good luck on the new treatment.  Exercise is good for all of us.  Mickie helps me get mine.  She needs several walks a day and I'm elected to go with her.  Keeps me out of trouble!

It's almost time for the boinger and Frankie's doggie is telling me he's getting hungry.  Mickie is a "waiter" but Cooper isn't!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

P.S.  Goofing off is good!  It really takes talent!

Bubble, many thanks for resizing & posting for me! I was surprised this morning to see it already.

Lloyd, hope your headache doesn't go on as long as mine.... been weeks and I am not sure still what is causing mine. Do you think both of us might have had a little more stress than good for us at this age????

I left a long post over in Photos so better get moving, last day of the year and I have to fill my car with gas & take care of cats. Sun is shining but bitter cold, don't think the wind is blowing quite as hard as yesterday.

Good morning everyone, finally woke up at 10:30 after going to bed at 9 last night and went right to sleep.
HAD A MESSAGE ON MY PHONE THAT A cna WILL BE HERE AT 11:45  Oops sorry about the caps, not really awake yet? Still raining so another day to stay inside. 36° and any colder and it would be an ice rink out there.

AMY  hope it is not a costly job on your van. Makes me glad I no longer have a car, I know I would not be able to drive but I miss the independance I had.

LLOYD  glad Nancy is feeling so much better. You better stop working so hard. Wish someone who knew how to cook would do it for me. Maybe then I could add a few pounds, if I lose anymore I would be a bag of bones.

JANE  rain has not ended here yet but looks like more of a mist now so maybe will stop soon. Hope so.

AMY  so you and me will goof off together today. Glad it was not major work on the van.

CALLIE  you make me wish I could have been there with you to see Ellen performing. Glad the trip was OK for you and didn't we ar you out.

SHIRLEY  I would love to see a pictre of that throw. One of a kind for sure. I would want to hang it where everyone can see it. NOT YOU HANGING IT-that is what sons and grandsons can do for you.

JENNY  you have been busy, too, with family. Best time of the year for families to gather.

CALLIE  I never had or seen Pink eye so would not know what  to look for. My family and I have been lucky.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link.

SHIRLEY  WONDERFUL and hang it where everyone can see it.

JANE  I have been goofing off for almost 24 years now so have it down and know just how to do it.

Have a good last day of 2019.

Thought I would come in now as I will be going to my son's tomorrow for the day. Only him my DIL and me. Maybe if DIL is not too busy she can cut my hair for me. Been 5 months since it was cut and getting too long for me now.
Was surprised no one in here since I posted this morning.

If anyone is celebrating by watching the Times Square  ball fall at midnight enjoy. I should be in dreamland when that happens.

Happy New Year 2020, wish you health and happiness.

Happy New Year to you all.  I am not sure I'll make it to midnight or not, but if I do, at 12:01 I'll head for bed.

Tom, Robin and I went to the Cottage Bar downtown for supper tonight; I had a mushroom burger which was very good and I'd have again.  Living here all my life, but not near downtown, I had never been to the Cottage Bar, which was very nice; it is a small place and it was not too busy tonight.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.

Amy, I tried to copy the description of the burger and could not, but they were crimini mushrooms, sliced.  It was in an onion bun and besides the meat, it had Swiss cheese and tomato slices.  I think the mushrooms were in a sauce.  I liked it.  If I ever go there again, I would order that.

If you want, you can go online to Cottage Bar, Grand Rapids and go to the dine-in menu, go to burgers and you will find the mushroom burger down a few from the top.  I think it would be easy for someone to duplicate it at home.
