Ohhhh! I almost missed another quiz.
6. Last Train to Clarksville
7. Casey Jones
These two were easy. Don't know the last one. I am a train song fan. Favorite is The Orange Blossom Special.
Don't know the last song, but I guess it's also about trains.
When I was a teenager, my boyfriend was a model-train fan. He sang the Wabash Cannonball as "Listen to the rattle, the rumble and the roar...
He built the cars out of cardboard and paper, and used an old typewriter to make strips of studs, punching hard on the period key to make the bumps on the reverse side of the paper. But the trains ran on time :tread:
#10.. The Rock Island Line???????
Final three songs guessed correctly!
MarsGal -
#6 - The Last Train to Clarksville
#7 - Casey Jones
Chia -
$10 - The Rock Island Line
rutumi - Most performers seemed to put their own personal spin on the words to the old folk songs. When I looked up the lyrics, it was interesting that Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Joan Baez, and Woody added or changed different words. (Sounds like you had a very creative boy friend!)
I love all train songs, especially the old folk songs. My favorite is The City of New Orleans. I actually get teary eyed when I listen to that one. Such descriptive, plaintive lyrics.
Oh dear - I just realized that I left out a good pop standard by Duke Ellington! Take the A Train!
There's another train song: "In the pines"
Here's the start of Bill Monroe's version, and the words I learned:
The longest train I ever saw The longest train I ever saw
Went down that Georgia line Was on that railroad line
The engine passed at six o'clock The engine passed at six o'clock
And the cab passed by at nine The cab came by at nine
In the pines, in the pines In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun never shines Where the sun never shines
And we shiver when the And you shiver, when the cold
cold wind blows wind blows
Who who hoo hoo hoo, who who hoo hoo hoo
We were camping on Mount Mitchell in the Great Smoky Mountains in 1950, and were invited to stay a few nights in the log cabin housing the parkies, meteorologist, and concession boys, when we were rained out of our all too sopping tents. They all sang, and taught us many songs from the area.
This quiz brought me back. :)
rutumi - I like the lyrics to "In the Pines". That same mournful vibe, that so many of the train songs have. I plan to look it up on YouTube, and listen. I wonder if Park rangers/employees, still sing those old songs, or sit around a campfire in the evenings? Somehow, I think not - but I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to believe that they do.
I have some misty memories of riding on trains a lot, when I was a kid during WWII. Something from my distant past that has stayed with me, which is probably why I love the songs. When I hear one, a feeling of nostalgia comes over me and stays for a while.
Thank you all for playing! Final results of the Train Quiz.

Ahhhh! You are so right Marilyne. I don't know why I thought of Orange Blossom Special but City of New Orleans is the one I was thinking of, especially if it is Woody or Arlo Guthrie singing it.
There are a lot more train songs, many of which I've never heard. Wikipedia has a big list. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_train_songs
I really enjoyed your quiz..and seeing others trying too..The balloons have already busted...but appreciate getting them :)
For friends of CHIA. Sorry to tell you she will not be putting in any more quizzes for us to enjoy. Is in hospital and the future is critical. I am in touch with her family and any further news will bring to you.
Thank you Junee, for letting us know about Chia. She has been the heart of this folder for all the years that it has been in existence. Thanks to Chia, we have enjoyed many fun trivia and music quizzes over the years. Please keep us posted when you hear anything about her. I will be hoping for a miracle!
Junee...
...thank you for relaying this message...yet, so sorry to hear this news...I along with others will be wishing Chia all the best in dealing with her " critical " hospital stay...
Junee, my heart grows heavy on hearing about Chia's health. I can only hope she is not suffering. She was the spirit of this discussion and in the games, and we miss her very much.
Thank you for relaying any news you get.
I was surprised and saddened to hear about Chia. She will be in my thoughts and thank you for keeping us informed.
Chia, oh no, Chia! What startling news. My hopes and prayers go out to her and her family. Thanks for keeping us informed, Junee.
Thanks for the update Junee. We have had a running debate for years over the spelling of her name---Chia or Chya for a long time now and I look forward to continuing the discussion when she gets back.
Thank you Junee, for letting us know about Chia, so sorry to hear the news. I alway checked the quizzes, but seldom had the right answer. Just not as smart as the rest of you. Although I did learn something. My prays and thoughts are with Chia.
I've been doing some of the quizzes on YouTube the last two mornings. Some are pretty easy, but others are in areas I don't have a clue (like the newer pop stars and entertainers). Anyway. Here is one that sticks in my mind because it surprised me so much.
From where did the pineapple originate?
1. Hawaii
2. South America
3. Phillipines
Good question :) But I remembered who brought the fruit to Europe...
I'm guessing it is probably not the obvious so I'll go with South America? Edit: I just Googled.
Hi, Patricia. Yes, it is South America. Surprised the H out of me when I saw the answer. Did your Google tell you what part of South America?
I've discovered with the Trivia Questions on YouTube, I am the weakest in Geography.
Hi. I had guessed before I Googled because I had the feeling that it wouldn't be the obvious choice. I Googled because I wanted to see if my impression was correct. I remember Brazil and Paraguay and something else I've forgotten. Those feelings aren't always accurate, more of a supposition.
I've always lived by the saying that Google was my friend, even if that friend remembers things I've forgotten or wanted to be buried and tells other folks my secrets, but a friend in need if not by deed.
Geography has never been my strong suit either, but history is and that circumvents geography in many ways.
For those who followed Chia’s last song quiz, when she had finished publishing questions answers and winners, just look at the name of the song she put at the end, I listen to it then and iI listened again today. I Have a Dream.
Thank you Junee -

Actually, I googled it just now and both spellings are correct....and both spellings are incorrect. His parents changed the spelling to Aron when he was born and he tried to change it later and, after going through life with the spelling "Aron" he discovered that it had never been changed from the traditional spelling of "Aaron".
What about #15, You didn't comment on my answer for that.

And
#4I think that song is about drug use

I hope that others will submit their quizzes for all of us to enjoy as well.
Jane, I haven't time to Google now on the Titanic Oscar wins again.
Also, the info on #4 is as stated, the man in question was a paranoid schizophrenic and imprisoned after killing the camera operator.
I just went and googled the number of Oscars and Titanic tied with Ben Hur and The Lord of the Rings, the Return of (I forgot what) the most Oscars at 11 each.
Okay, I'm back, and I've both checked my original question and answer which listed ten Oscars and also Googled for any other information.
I cannot explain why General knowledge questions listed ten Oscars and others, four sources to be fair, listed eleven. Jane, you are right, and I apologize. The questions and correct answers are as listed below.
In honor of all those who've gone before, I present a new quiz. Same rules, two questions to begin with and Googling is allowed and expected if all else fails. Enjoy.

JaneS - Both of your answers were correct, but were already guessed correctly earlier in the Day.
Amy - #5: Mexico - the poinsettia
MarsGal - #2: Noel - Birth
Solstice man ?
14, Mother's Day?
Bubble - your answer is correct, but you didn't name this "Solstice Man"? ha ha! I'm going to give you credit for it anyway, because it's a hard one that most people have never heard of. (I hadn't).
Odin, is his name. He is a mythical Nordic God, associated with the Winter Solstice. The Nazi regime also renamed Christmas trees, changed the words to Silent night, and there were even swastika shaped tree lights. (Makes me shudder!) :yikes:
MarsGal - Sorry, not Mother's Day. Number 14, is a hard one, because I doubt that anyone has ever heard of "Super Saturday", which is the last Saturday before Christmas.
Anyone who wants to, can take a guess at the last two questions: Not well known, but just interesting bits of Christmas trivia.
12. What large, former retail department store, commissioned and published the story, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"?
13. What Southeast Asian country boasts the longest holiday season starting in September, and lasting sometimes until late January?
12 Montgomery Ward

Sorry, wasn't thinking of a shopping day, but the holiday. Anyway, I never heard of super Saturday, just Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Just a remark about "Odin" -- it's a regular boy's name in Norway, although not used very often. My great grandmother had two brothers: Odin (became god of the sea [a sailor - lol] and Carl Gustav (king of carpentry). Imagine having a brother named Zeus?
AMY - you are correct on the last two answers.
You are also the winner of the *Trivia Trophy*, for answering the most questions!
rutumi - interesting information on the name Odin, as well as other boy's names in Norway. I haven't heard of the name here, but there are lots of men named Carl or Karl. I never connected the name with "carpenter". Incidentally, I thought about you on Saturday night, at the Nordahl Hall, (Son's of Norway), for the annual Lutefisk Dinner.
Thanks to all who played the Christmas Trivia game, which includes - Joy, Patricia, Amy, MarsGal, Bubble, Sasha, rutumi, and Jane.

3. Which is the only mammal that can't jump?
And, as it turns out, it's hard to get 4 tons of mammal off the ground all at once. In the case of the elephant, in fact, it's impossible. Unlike most mammals, the bones in elephant legs are all pointed downwards, which means they don't have the "spring" required to push off the ground.

Sorry, Amy! It isn't. Fauntleroy is Donald Duck's middle name. Donald is the only major Disney character with an official middle name. Mickey and the others have no established, official middle name. And so concludes this quiz! Thanks to everyone for playing!
Remember, making and running a quiz is open to all!
Thanks Angel, that was fun!
Oh dear, poor boy.
Thank you Angel that was fun.
Bubble
That is a tough one. So far only see one. I need to go put my eye drops in. See the iye dr. Next week as mine sort of bleary these days.
I see my new shot showing. Thank you. I need to stop changing them so often. Not good with selfies
Without looking, can you name Santa's reindeer--- I can't so you're on the honor system. Merry Christmas to all.
Rick, don't forget Olive..
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
You mean Olive & Popeye?
Come Dasher and Prancer and ? and Vixen. Come Comet and Cupid and Donder and Blitzen.
I know there are eight from the Clement Moore? story. Isn't there a Dancer?
YES, that's the missing one! I was trying to recite the Clement Moore poem, when Santa Claus calls his Reindeer . . .
Come Dasher, come Dancer, come Prancer and Vixen - come Comet, come Cupid, come Donder and Blitzen. To the top of the porch to the top of the wall, dash away, dash away, dash away all!
Don't forget Rudolph of the Red Nose.
Rick....Olive the other reindeer :2funny:
Here's another one to think about. Without Googling the answer, can anyone name all Seven Dwarfs, From Snow White? I can only think of three of them. :-\
I've got six!
Patricia - Name your six, and one of my three, might be the one you're missing??
Grumpy, Happy, Dopey, Sneezy, Doc, Bashful, I can't remember them all, but Grumpy was always my favorite. Wouldn't there be a timid one in all those emotions?
Patricia, you did better the I did. The only three I could remember were Dopey, Doc and Bashful. So we're still missing one.
Sleepy was another one.
Those with Grands do better than those without ???
MarsGal - I think you guessed the missing Dwarf - Sleepy!
Here's some lyrics from three different Christmas songs. Guess the names of the songs. One guess per person.
1. "Lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh"
2. "If only in my dreams"
3. "As we dream, by the fire"
They all sound very familar but I believe #3 is "Walking in a Winter Wonderland?"
2. "If only in my dreams" ----- I'll be home for Christmas
Patricia and Rick - Both correct!
#2: I'll be Home For Christmas, If only in my dreams. Popular during WW2 years.
#3: Walking in a Winter Wonderland - As we dream, by the fire.
#1, still left to guess - "He has lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh"
Thanks to Dean Martin!
Thanks to Bing Crosby for #2.
Thanks to Nat King Cole for #1. (which hasn't been guessed yet!)
Marilyne, you have to leave some for folks on other time zones. I was applauding Dean Martin because I remembered his versions of those songs.
Patricia - Dean Martin did have a hit recording of "Winter Wonderland". Bing was King during the War years, and "I'll Be Home for Christmas", was one of his many hits.
No one is wanting to take a guess on #1? A huge Christmas hit for Nat King Cole. As soon as it turns 8:00 O'clock here in ten minutes, that song is open to anyone who wants to name it! That would be 7:00 for you Patricia, and 11:00 for Rick! Or if neither of you guess it tonight, someone will in the morning.
I know the song but not the real Title. ??? Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire.
Rick - That's good enough! That's what most people call it. The actual title is, The Christmas Song.
Bubble is eleven hours ahead of me, and there are one or two others that have daytime when we're asleep, which is why I like to leave some questions overnight.
I still remember Dean Martin's TV show from my teen years and, of course, nowadays on Youtube as are Cole, Sinatra, Williams, Crosby, Davis, and Como.
Thank you Marilyne for these quizes!.

2. Sit Back and Relax
3. Turn Back the Hands of Time
4. Two Feet
5. Man Overboard

I instantly saw " man overboard " but slow in catching the other ones...well-done Rutumi, go to the top of the class..
"Rammel, you were on the right track, but why not try again?". I wasn't very clear as to what you were looking for. You said "Guess the word" but for example Man overboard looks like two (2) words to me. Besides, I had some other problems going here.
Big day at the Dentist tomorrow.
Good luck with the dentist, Rammel. (I hate those visits.) Don't forget your checkbook or your credit card...

Thank you Patricia. That was a good one! I've been thinking about posting a quiz, and will start working on one for later today.

Marilyne, I hope you advertise with a link. Otherwise, you'll miss people learning about this quiz. Edit: I see you're way ahead of me!
Patricia - Correct answer for #12 - Home on the Range. Guess again on #1? Although that may be another name for the song? I'll look it up.
Jackie - Correct on #9 - Show Me the Way to Go Home. Guess again on #5.
Songs left to guess:
1. The wings of an angel

16. Boys and girls together
From Shotgun by Eugene McGuinness;
""All aboard" cleopatra purrs.
Among pens and swords, the gun's mightier
A mane of gold like a flame from a skull
Upon the wings of an angel
We'll leave this hellholeLittle boy lost down devil's alley
The mad alsatian can almost taste me
Merrily merrily in terror I flee
Into the glow of traffic like a lava flow you'll see me"'
Or,
Wings of an Angel by Lauren Alaina
"Does your halo grow heavy
Hanging over your head
Boy you've held my heart steady
Since the first day we met
Every time I lose my way
Only you can bring me back
'Cause your will just don't break
You keep this train on its tracks
Under the wings of an angel
Where my weary heart can sleep
I can close my eyes without thinking twice
'Cause my soul's been set free
Under the wings of an angel
Heaven comes to me
The pearly gates are open wide
To eternity
#1 IN THE ARMS OF AN ANGEL
#5 BEYOND THE SEA
Jenny - So sorry, but both answers are wrong. :( These are all old American or British folk songs.
Patricia - Also sorry , but neither of those songs are correct for number #1. Choose another one to guess.
Marilyne I see what you're saying and I agree none of us have the answer you had in mind. However, next time please phase the question carefully.
#1. The Prisoner Song (If I Had the Wings of an Angel)
11. Lost and gone forever.. Oh my darling Clementine
12. Home on the Range. ??
Junee - Good to see you! #11 is correct - Oh My Darling, Clementine
#12, Home on the Range, was already guessed by Patricia. Pick another song to name./b]
Patricia, the whole point of a lyrics quiz, is to not give the entire line of the song. My clue was "The wings of an angel". If I had made the clue, "If I had the wings of an angel", it would be too easy, because that's the first line of the song, and would give it away. Notice that all the other clues are given the same way.
Remaining Folk Songs

16. Boys and girls together
9) Show me the way to go home...( Land or sea or foam )
6.15 am, and now i am ear-worming singing it..If i go and put the kettle on for a cup of tea, with a bit of luck, maybe it will go away..
Jackie - right answer for #9 - "Show Me The Way to Go Home", I'm tired and I wanta go to bed. Had a little drink about an hour go, and it went right to my head". Thank you Jackie.

I'm closing out this quiz now. I was hoping to resurrect the old Music Quiz format, but there's just not enough interest anymore. This particular Folk Song quiz, was one that I had posted a number of times, over the years, starting way back in Senior Net, and then here in S&F. Sad seeing these names of past members...We still have Don ( Radioman ) Kelly does not post but his wife Ellie does pop in occasionally but does not post..
Marilyne...
...thank you for your effort in trying to resurect one of your - our popular quizzes from the past but, as you rightly state " times have changed.." yes sadly that is true...
Also thank you for mentioning Soultwin, i remember her well but for the life of me, just never could remember her name...Soultwin used to post daily " on this day " where over the years on this day something unusual had happened...Soultwin was a fun person, and very much missed...I also remember she was found dead in her bed, and alone in New York, and none of us was aware of this for days..it was New York where her service was held, if i have my facts correct...
This is part why i am getting concerned over our missing Bubble, this is the 10th day she has not posted...
Jackie - soultwin, was a good friend to me, and I missed her so much when she was gone. We had a special connection, in that we had the same birthday - born in the same year, on the same day! As you probably know, her twin sister had died a short time before she started posting in Senior Net . . . hence the screen name, soul-twin. I'm remembering others who posted in the Music Quizzes over the years: RAMMEL, was a regular, and so were Sasha and Katie Sturtz. Going back to SN, we had quite a few men, two of which were MartyfromMiami, and Rambler.
I heard from Kelly last night, about yesterday's quiz! He doesn't want to post in S&F anymore, but sent me the answers to two of the songs - #4. "Loch Lomond", and #8: "There is a Tavern in the Town". Unfortunately, I had already closed out the quiz, so he didn't get credit for them.
Back in the day, there were lots of members who loved pop music and lyrics of all kinds, so we had a great turnout for these quizzes. Not so anymore, so best to bid them all farewell. :'(
Marilyne..
... i was not a member of Senior Net, i was not aware of that forum when it existed but, joined Seniors and Friends a year after you all had moved to our site of S & F's from Senior Net...I understand Pat had set up for all of you to have a new home to post in..
Yes i was aware that Soultwin had lost a twin sister..
Yes i warmed to Soultwins humour, ( my kind of humour ) we both got on well and had a few laughs on here together....
Marilyne...
...what a coincidence, so much in common re, your Birth-dates-Years...
Marilyne, I believe it is a bit premature to give up on all quizzes!
Don't give up on quizzes. Sometimes people just aren't aware that a new one has started. I just now came in on this last one, and started humming the old songs I remember from long ago in the Smokies. And then it was over! :-\
rutumi - So sorry I closed my Folk Song quiz too soon. I remember that you used to join in on the music quizzes, way back when they were very well attended. If there is a next time, I'll send you a personal message to let you know. I hope that everything is going well for you and you family? When I go to the Lutefisk dinner at our Nordahl Hall this Christmas, I'll think of you! :D
Thanks! :cup:

#4, What is the song "What's the frequency, Kenneth?" about? It was an album song by the group REM about a true story. It involved newscaster Dan Rather being attacked by a delusional stranger.
Thank you Angel, that was instructive.
Thank you Bubble. Hopefully, someone other than you or I will attempt a quiz on their own. Someone used to do music quizzes here besides Don, and there are so many subjects and styles available.
Yes, thank you Patricia ,that was fun.

SOLUTIONS
#1- solution test logico - Copy.jpg
#2- solution fish - Copy.jpg
#3- solution Quiz n. 12 - Copy.jpg
Donklan, You get the gold medal! Bravo!
I'll never understand that logic!
Angel, look at the blue glasses, 1st line: 2 full glasses and one half= 15
From it you can deduce that 5 half glasses =15, thus 1/2 glass= 15:5= 3
2e line: 10 minus a full blue glass (=6) is =4 which should be a full yellow minus a half one, in other words 1/2 yellow=4
etc.
Bubble, my field of expertise, if any, is on the opposite end of math. I don't know how two full glasses and one-half equal fifteen because I don't know the formula used. But I'll enjoy watching the game played out.
Can you guess the words?
1. Image3.jpg
2. Image2.jpg
3. Image1.jpg
I'm almost certain of two of them but I play word games all the time and one of them, I don't have a clue!

Sharon, so that everyone can play, we're to send Bubble or the quiz originator, either an email or a PM with our answers. The emails are listed in a person's profile. I hope this helps.

4. The Lowest Place On Earth: The Dead Sea In Israel
17. Victor Hugo: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
NEWS TODAY!
The two young men who were swept deep into the Dead Sea last night in the area of rank cliffs were taken to hospital in Jericho after being located and sick after eight hours of searching. "They were told they had a lot of salt in their bodies, but they were doing well," he told their friend Asfour.
The youths, Muhammad and Hisham, aged 23 and 24, from Ramallah, went for a walk in the Dead Sea for the holiday of Adha, together with four other friends. "We arrived at the scene at about 7:00 P.M., and we barbecued," Asfour said. "Then we got four friends into the water, but only three people came out, Muhammad didn't come back. We looked into the water and saw that it was about 100 meters from the beach. At first we thought he knew what he was doing, but Hisham immediately said that Muhammad could not swim and went into the water in an attempt to bring him back to shore, but he did not return and remained in the water."
He described the moments of horror when rescue forces were called. "I immediately called anyone who could possibly help, MDA, the police, gave them our location and then a lot of forces, police, ambulances and volunteers from the Megillat Rescue Unit began to arrive," Asfour said. "All night we walked along the beach and called them but they probably didn't hear us. When they were rescued, Hisham told me , "I was screaming all the time, but no one heard me."
Finally, Asfour thanked everyone who participated in the rescue attempts. "We thank and say thank you to all the volunteers who searched and helped us find them."
The two missing men were spotted tonight using a drone about two kilometers offshore. A private boat that reached them took them ashore, where they received initial medical treatment from a paramedic and were later taken by the Red Crescent to hospital in a moderate condition, after being in the water with 34% salinity for about eight hours.
[rutumi, you are correct with #2 and unfortunately, #6 is not the correct answer but a good try! You can attempt another question or retry #6. Thank you for playing!]
I'll try again. Was a little confused by "slang name" for New York City used by locals. We joke about the kids having to like apples, since they live in the biggest one. I'm from Brooklyn, so I'm a Bum (from Dem Bums, the BROOKLYN Dodgers), but in Manhattan they mostly use names for local areas, e.g. the East Village, Chelsea, NOHO, SOHO, StuyTown, Peter Cooper Village, Alphabet City, and of course uptown, downtown, East side, West side. So maybe my answer should have been: Locals don't use any slang for NYC.
rutumi, I believe this may be an older term.
Marilyne, you are correct for numbers three and nineteen!
Jackie, your answers are also correct for #s5 & 11.
Bubble, you are incorrect for #4 but correct for #17.

The City That Never Sleeps?

Super city......
:)
I'm opening the quiz up to all comers!
#6: Could it be, "Manhattan"? Probably not, as I always thought that was the official name of the central core of the city? I wouldn't call it a slang name, and doesn't sound like a "Superhero" to me. Anyway, here is a short Musical Interlude . . . the popular song, "Manhattan" - recorded by many, especially popular by Ella Fitzgerald. Lots of other songs written about "Manhattan", as well as this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJsa0OfWcGA

I live just North of NYC and have never heard anyone call it that --- except Batman & Robin. And even at that I don't know that they were referring to NYC, or just a fictitious place.
See - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotham_City
https://www.freedomcareny.com/posts/new-york-slang
20) Gotham (n.) - refers to New York City as a whole (this is a kind of joke about NYC, since Gotham is a corrupt city in the Batman comic franchise)
E.g. "Well, here in Gotham crime isn't exactly uncommon."
https://www.dictionary.com/e/big-apple-gotham/
The most populous city in the U.S. also goes by the name Gotham, which was first used by Washington Irving in an 1807 issue of his literary magazine about the legends of an English village named Gotham.

Let's try to answer this question...
If you had to spend the day as an animal, what animal would you be? What things would you do?
If I had my choice I would come back as a ritch, womans dog .
Lloyd
And What things would you do?
I think it might be fun to be a bird and live near someone with a bird feeder and a greenhouse where I could perch on a cold winter day and sing my songs! I never could sing on tune so I'd want to be a singer!
Definitely as someone's pet dog, as long as i am treated as one of the family...Or as a second choice, a bird, and to be as free as a bird...
I would come back as one of Shirley's cats. Would never have to worry about a good feeding, or place to sleep. Nice warm vents - MMmmmmm.
I'd love to be an assistance dog or guide dog to feel useful and needed. I would also be well looked after!
Okay, Rick, that has me laughing so hard I'm bopping up & down!
And I will be a human that can fly. My dream all my life was to fly (like people swim) through the air, dodging the power lines & trying to get others to try. I begged my father when I was little to make me some kind of helicopter type vehicle and then had all these kids and grands in aerospace engineering and THEY won't build me something. I've seen so many versions online but restrictions insist on some kind of license! Not a free world, :'( but I'd still rather be a human that can fly, thank you, Bubble!
I'd rather be a cat, a leopard if you please. In a jungle, up a tree and watching all the unwary passing below me, just above and to the right.
Guess I would come back as a cat (never had one myself) but hearing everyone talk about how much they love and care for their cat(s), and seeing my daughter's two cats being treated like sweet children, believe that would be the way to go! I'd run and jump up on the window sills, and look out at the happenings in the yard, and the neighborhood.
Spend thee day as an animal?
A cat, of course. The day would be spent in sleeping (being petted once in a while, with a break for lunch). But the nights! If I could sneak out (maybe via the fire escape) I would check out what the cool cats were doing. Chew the fat (rat) with other feline gadabouts. I would appreciate the extra lives (in real time I almost killed myself five times when I was little -- by overestimating my abilities on bikes, climbing [easier up than down], and swimming). So, yes, definitely a cat.
Cats won, they are the most popular apparently!
I hope you enjoyed this flight of imagination.
I'll have another one for you next.
Let's try to answer this question:
If you could meet a famous person, who would it be?
or
If you could meet someone from the past, who would it be?
My Dad..
My Richard..
Love it, Bubble, so can we have a group meeting? So many I'd really like to see again, with questions mostly, but the only famous person I ever really wanted to talk with was Queen Elizabeth. My sister had an English pen pal during WWII, they exchanged newspaper/magazines a few times and I got to read them when my sister was done. A great deal about how the young Elizabeth helped with the war and I've admired her ever since.
I couldn't begin to narrow it down to just one person. There are hundreds (maybe thousands) with whom I'd like to shake hands! But if I really had to pick, I think I'd pick Abraham Lincoln! And George and Martha Washington would be my next choice!
There are two other people I'd really like to meet,,,, One of the lives too far away for me to meet but she shows up here every day. I would dearly love meeting our Israeli friend..BUBBLE!
Jane, I am blushing...
Jane, me too. David is so lucky to have met you!!! I am really blessed by your friendship.
Have you ever heard of Dinah, daughter of Jacob and Leah? I would love to talk to her, hear more of her life with all her brother. Our life has so much to ease the daily burdens but we lose touch with each other even though we have more 'free time'.
Are you curious about Dinah? Read "The red Tent"!
In modern time, I would have loved to meet Carl Sagan...
For me, if I had to choose one person of past time, it would be Benjamin Franklin. He was a writer, inventor, philosopher, ambassador, and statesman. He started as a printer's apprentice and began his political career by writing and printing out so-called seditious broadsheets at a time when it was treasonous to be involved, even in a small way, against the British.
Another would be my Irish ancestor, who, along with 26 members of his family, was arrested and sold as indentured servants to America for selling a horse to a British officer. And that horse threw the officer for heavily using a crop on it. Twenty years later, the family finally regrouped and made its trip west across an unknown frontier.
For persons of this time, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodard who exposed Richard Nixon.
I added "The Red Tent" to my reading list!
so no one wants to meet Mother Theresa...

Let's try another "answer this question"...
If you could invent something to make life easier, what would you invent?
A one-stop basic medical machine. Enter at one end with a medical condition and exit at the other with a detailed medical analysis and cure. After what happened at the robotic chess tournament, that might not be a good idea. A young boy made a surprize move, and the robotic chess-playing arm smashed his finger.
I'd have a vehicle that would be available to take me anywhere I needed to go any time I needed to go and I wouldn't have to drive it or see where it was going. It would be totally safe and totally available!
I'd have a "flying machine", like my little 80cc Yamaha Chappy with the ability to take off like a gyrocopter with the blades to fold up so the Yamaha could be street legal to run around in town once I'd to get where I'm going. I've been deaming about that since I was 10 years old. Sorry, Jane, guess mine better have the "auto pilot" feature as well since I am always lost. :-[
I would invent a vaccine to wipe out cancer. I am tired of losing family, friends and my dogs to that darn disease.
At one point in my life I wanted rolling sidewalks. There would be a moving strip close to where the stores were, on the avenues. Nothing on the side streets; that would be too expensive and too complicated. The strip would run to the north on one side, to the south on the other, and one would cross over on the corner to change direction. In the winter the strips would be put on hold, because of the snow that could be expected, but then the strip would not be shoveled clean, so that one could drag sleds on it.
Ten year olds think big, but don't see the pitfalls. That's another story. :)
How about self-heated rolling sidewalks that would also work in winter?
I was hoping to see Maryline's invention... or Rammel's... or Vanilla's... or Tomereader...
Here is mine:
I would create a small house that would be self-sufficient in water, electricity, gaz, A/C, that would self-clean and prepare meals from tasty cyber safe ingredients. It would never need repairs. It should also be capable of self transporting anywhere, so as to allow visiting while staying in familiar environment. (always sleep in your own bed! LOL) There won't be a need for driving license of course.
I saw the Topic, and thought about it, but haven't come up with a good answer. I guess I'm more into making what we already have work. Of course there is always a need for a working model Aladin's Lamp.
Tame a genie! LOL
Bubble -- I like that house. Like a snail, only it would swoop over any sea or mountain. No need to pack -- everything in place. Where does one place an order?
Hm, perhaps a gadget less cumbersome and one that will travel further than a Jet Pack for human flying...
rutumi, I am working on it! LOL
Jackie, so what is it? Just dream... and it will come to you.
Bubble...
... maybe one day this will be a norm, ( experimenting already, ) an expensive norm to own one, just think, for all us disabled people who cant use our legs for walking...but would we have to abide by our air traffic rules...maybe even hold an air traffic licence...a licence to fly..
I enjoyed your input. Thank you for your participation.

Patricia for 16 (not the shampoo! LOL)
Hue and Tint are Television color items - very important.
Other Hue items might be Huey & Louie ( Hue & Lou )- Relatives of D. Duck or Scrooge McDuck.
It looks like there might be more than one correct answer for at least some of these. The answers given all seem valid, though I guess not what the creator of the Trivia wanted.
Bubble, there is an old saying about being head and shoulders above the crowd, which has been shortened to "Head and shoulders.." It's not necessarily related to shampoo. I agree with Rick. Is there a central theme the quiz creates had, I mean, besides the one given?
head and shoulders
adjective
To a considerable degree; better; outstanding
Yes there are all valid, but maybe you can come with valid alternatives?
The original quiz is from England, so maybe that makes a difference on how the idioms are used.
This is going to be an interesting Quiz. As I see it all of the "wrong" answers so far, are what is the most used/said in the US. I'm also sure that other parts of the world have a different view of sayings. So, --- in the interest of learning --- On with the games.

1.) Each bottle represents a ten.
2.) Each burger represents a five.
3.) Each mug of beer represents a two. In total, nine with the burger.[ end of quote]

1 & 2 are right. Look carefully at the image for 3...
Each mug of beer is a one..

I meant to say each set. It was the word price that threw me off.
Here is the solution for
Good at Math
1.) Each bottle represents a ten.
2.) Each burger represents a five.
3.) Two mugs of beer represents a two.
4) One burger (5) + one mug of beer (1) X one bottle (10) =
5 + (1X10) = 15
I apologize for all the muddle-up.
I too did not see the multiplication sign at first.
Then of course the pair of mugs versus just one mug.
So it was not as easy as I first assumed.
Sorry about that.
Mea culpa.

Jackie and Marilyne, right!
Rammel, try to see if you have another association for 15.
They are also called endpapers, Bubble. I hound this very nice illustration of all the parts of a book as well as a video. https://www.ibookbinding.com/blog/book-anatomy-parts-book/ Hand binding books is something of a hobby these days, but I never got around to trying it myself. There is a company in the Harrisburg area that still offers hand-binding services.

Even with the answers, some of those "combinations"I've never heard or seen. Like # 7 or 14.
Sorry we didn't complete this. Not many of us left.
Bubble, sorry we didn't keep up with this one. We'll do better next time. Don't give up on us!
(Some of the answers, I still don't understand?
#1- Mark sheet? #7- Cream Bell? #10- India Gate?)
Mark Sheet - Lady Finger - Cream Bell - Mother India Gate, i have not heard of...well we live and learn..
I have a feeling many of them are regional.
Post - Mark - Twain
Cup _ Board _ Room
Penny _ Black _ Smith
The Penny Black is a UK rare and very valuable stamp
Quote from: RAMMEL on February 11, 2023, 03:53:21 PMPost - Mark - Twain
surely this one was not hard?
I thought Mark Twain was American
yes 7 and 10 were hard and new for me as well. My background being different, I figured it was my own problem.
But it is always good to learn something new.
"Post - Mark - Twain" was not on the list. And "I thought Mark Twain was American" - It is and would probably have been the first answered.

Let us know when you find them all!
For your enjoyment:
find the 15 dogs breeds hiding among these letters.
FOUND 13 and 1/2
Don - When I click on your Weather Link I get it for "The Bronx, NY".
That's odd... when I click on it I get weather for Clayton Wi which is about 10 miles away.
Took screenshots but don't have your Email...
Regarding Dog Breeds... most of them are color coded...
When I clicked on Don's weather link, I found Anchorage, AK., which leads me to believe that it is showing our own internet links weather. Not our particular location but the location of our provider's main server.
I sent Don a PM about this. The link starts with "https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/proxy.php?nnnnnnnnnnnnn -", so am guessing it is picking up info from our registration here on S&F.
Anyone who clicks on it will get their own weather.
Not if your internet supplier's main processing center is 400 miles from your location.
More so their own than Don's. I think you know what I meant.
Don, I did not realize the color code. Clever.
What is 1/2 a dog?
ha ha ha ha ;D ;D ;D ;D
I found the KIE from YORKIE but not the YOR...
Also BREEDS was color coded...
Well this one is not color coded. Enjoy
