I stare at a blank page. Concentrating.
What could I possibly write?
What words powerful enough exist?
to express how I truly feel.

 I hold the phone.  Pondering.
What could I possibly say?
What spoken word would be enough?
to convince you of the my endless love.

I sit with my head in my hands. Wondering.
What could I possibly do?
What actions would undoubtedly prove?
that you are my everything.

If love were a tear drop,
my love for you would drown the world.

Sometimes I sit and wonder
As I'm all alone at night
Are the stars a little brighter
When two people share the sight?

Is the pot of tea now steeping
Much sweeter to the taste
If poured into another's cup
And shared with little haste?

And as you walk upon the beach,
Dodging the lapping tide,
Is not the stroll more pleasant
With a companion by your side?

Ah, yes, I know the answer.
Just sharing means so much.
The world would lose its flavor
If our lives could never touch.

On Feb. 1, 2003, space shuttle Columbia broke up as it returned to Earth, killing the seven astronauts on board.

In Memoriam
of the crew of STS-107

High Flight

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,

I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I didn't get to check out last night.  Having company in the house keeps me busy!  And today will be another busy day.

I've read everything and put prayers where they were needed, sympathized with your needs and wished everyone well as I read.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you always.

BUBBLE, thanks for the fresh, new Soda Shoppe!  I enjoyed all the entries and I remembered with a tear the loss of our astronauts. I remember that time very well.

My prayers continue for MARY Ann!

Cathy, Christy and I are making a trip to the Amish store this morning while Frankie sleeps in and then tends to the doggies.  When we get back, Christy and Frankie with take care of some of Frankie's errands and then F. will get ready to go to work at 3 and Christy and I will get ready to have supper at the Chinese restaurant that we both like.

Sounds like a nice but busy day coming up so....

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And scoot back here to share it with all of us!

Sandy, great to hear that all is well with your eye.My sister and sister in law both go each month to get a needle in their eye. Makes me shiver just to think about it.

Phyliss, hope better days ahead for you....with Spring just around the bend that may help.

Gloria, can you keep this good CNA or will you be going back to your other one?

Shirley, I think the young ones of today forget just how tough we  ah...mature folks are.

Good morning everyone, 29 and a bit foggy this morning. Had a new and different CNA yesterday, one of the best since my long time one has been on sick leave. Had some good laughs with her.

SANDY  been cold here in RI. but  we broke a redord for the warmest January and lack of snow. Only 3" officially. That comes from the airport and that is near the Atlantic, here inland it is always colder except in summer and more show, too.

JANE  I woke at 5:30 this morning, better than the 2 Thursday and the 3 yesterday. Wish I had some news to talk about but I lead a very dull life. The other residents here are all friendly and we all talk to each other. Only a cople who stay in their apartments but are friendly when one sees them. With all the company you get, even to a puppy visitor, you will  never have time to be bored. Imagine how worn out you would be if you were still working? Ahh retirement is great isn't it?

PHYLLIS  I think I will make an online grocery order soon. When I send one of the CNA's to the market I always tell them no substitutes but the don't make any difference. I do  better ordering. At least I get what I ordered.

AMY  I used to make mac & cheese often but lately I cannot do it. Cannot get the pan of hot water and mac to the sink. I cannot pick it up to carry it. Tried a few of the CNA's to make it but the mac is so overcooked it is mush.

JOY  there is a few cheeses I really like but not many.

CALLIE  I have a small box of papers to shred, I keep putting it off and it really will not take too long but it is a job I keep putting off.

SHIRLEY  most days are lazy days for me. Wish I could do more but impossible.

JENNY  I got rid of so many things when I moved here that I wish I had kept. Not much storage room in these apartments.

AMY  thanks for the latest news about Mary Ann.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new page for February. I remember that day when the Columbia broke up, just did not remember the year. Great graphics and stories.

JANE  another busy day for you, enjoy it.

AMY  I am beginning  to wonder if my old CNA/friend will be able to come back to work. I will never another as good as her. I as  told  the one I had yes terday will be here nex t week on Wednesday and Friday. Will see.

Have a good day.

Nearly noon & I've done nothing but feed cats & myself & let them in & out & out & in... read the mail & sat & thought about the taxes the gov demands from an old lady that pinched pennies all through the years & now expects her to divy up with people that never made the effort to save. Just deleted more rant. & deleted again, guess I can't talk this morning without boiling over. Be glad to get this job over but have one more form to come in before I can visit the tax man.

We have bright sunshine, supposed to be upper 50s today & 70s tomorrow. For sure the birds, trees & flowers are confused, but I remember other years like this and snow storms in late April.

Shirley, I can sympathize with you on that. We know of a family that has two "girls" on the system..they smoke ,drink and do drugs and we pay for it. Boils me to the core. No pride at all in themselves and think the world owes them a favour. Both are more than able to work too. Ok off my soap box :tickedoff:

Thank you Bubble for the start of a new month.

I am doing as well as expected and probably will fill out the two expected weeks here at Rehab.  I came in last night and after we were here, James, Alicia, Annie and the  twins came to join Tom and me for pizza.  Annie left for Tulsa today to start a new job and we needed to get together.  We had a great time.  The girls were all over the place.  I had a visit from the Cardiologist's PA, also a therapist and we will really start therapy on Monday.  What we did today was preliminary.

I'll try to put a bit in whenever I do anything.  If you have any questions, please, ask and I'll try to answer.

Hope Annie gets settled soon in Tulsa.  Is she living in company housing?

All the best to you, Dear Friend.  Lookin forward to seeing more posts from you.

Mary Ann, a long time ago I copied this "tidbit" from something & every time someone does bed or hospital time, I look for this to let them know it is okay to be tired/winded/whatever after any illness. Glad you have such a great attitude, it has served you well so far! Sounds like it was good for the family to see you up & attem. "A rough rule of thumb for nurses and physicians is that for every day an elderly patient spends in bed, 1 percent of muscle mass is lost. "You'd be surprised how quickly it can go below the point where you can safely stand up and move".

Bubble, you really out did yourself with the new home... great graphics & super sayings!

Shirley - one of the things they want to improve is my walking distance.  I can walk the length of our garage, past the front of the car, also the distance from getting out of the house and down to the sidewalk.  I really don't go places where the distances are longer Tom always lets me out in front of a place unless the distance is quite short.  One of my sayings is "I go where the car goes" meaning I don't try to walk too far.

Callie, yes, Annie is living in company housing.  I saw a picture of the house and it's beautiful.

TV here is different than what is on our household TVs so I laid down and closed my eyes.  One of the aides decided I was sleeping and should get ready for bed - at 7:30 pm!  I did not know I was ready for bed, but I let her help me.  I will try to remember to get a message off to Annie, then I will really allow myself to be ready!

AMY OK here i am. except here on S & F seams the whole world has gone crazy. it is so depressing. even peter says same over there except they use knives and stab. as they can not have guns except hunting weapons an except in hunting season they have to have them stored in a vault not at home. friend's seam to go crazy. you have to higher Lauears for almost every thing. we had to higher one to get a tenet out , the court ruled in our favor. well all that done was get him gone his belonging's are still here. he was supposed to have them all gone today.they are still here and he sent a email saying he could not get them out until the 28 th of February, that is third time he has balked on his moving time. Just stress for me. this year alone i have two heart attacks confirmed , and about two mouth's ago a third one but did not get to hospital soon enough to confirm it. now you all should understand why. well time to apollaige and bid you all sweet dreams and good night.

Good morning everyone.

Looks like a bit of snow to deal with this morning. Just a slow dance with the shovel should do it.

A day of rest here but then the past couple of days have been just that...no get up and go .

Lloyd, just glad you are ok...no need to apologize. You can do two things with the belongings.......wait till the end of the month or bundle them up and take to a place that could use them. You have been more than accommodating to him and he is abusing your friendship.

Better go get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, just heard a weather report and we will not get beyond the mid 30's today, looks gloomy again but it is groundhog day (my Dad's birthday)whatever the weather is wherever he loo out of it's den we still have almost 2 months of winter. Just wish we would get some real snow instead of rain.

SHIRLEY  glad I wasn't around you yesterday. I wouldn't want to see you tearing your hair out over the income tax you have to curse every year. Makes me glad I no longer own anything.

AMY  I knew one gal whe wanted the government to support her and her kids, how she did it I don't know. No pride in herself. What really gets me is the ones who come to this country illegally and want every thing handed to them without working.

MARY ANN  I will not ask questions but will pray that the rehab helps you and you can go home feeling great.

SHIRLEY so far I don't stay in bed all day but at times I feel like it. I can stand with  help of my rollator and walk with it but I sure wou ld like  to do i t on my own and not by holding onto something. Darn the arthritis in my back.

LLOYD  you have had a lot of stress and that is not good for your heart. I know you would like to see the end of that jerk's things that are still at your place. He is just tormenting you.

Time to go make my breakfast, I am hungry.

Have a good day.

The sun is shining and that is so nice to see after a couple of dreary days.  It has been quite cool but tomorrow the temp. is supposed to be in the 70's!  My daffodils are up about a foot tall and the periwinkle has already been blooming for several days.

All is quiet here.  I've had a little trouble sleeping but I think that will pass soon.  These periods come and go and I try not to worry about them too much.

It was so nice to see and hear from Mary Ann.  She sounds good and I hope she will be back home soon.

Take care, All.

I had a little therapy yesterday, but will start in earnest tomorrow.  There was only one therapist yesterday, today other than pill giving is quiet but tomorrow I'll have two therapists and two sessions.  I passed the grade yesterday on what they asked me to do.

Tom came for lunch today; it was the best I've had so far - meatloaf, broccoli and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy and apple pie for dessert.  They feed me too much and I've gained a couple of pounds.  Of course, I am more inactive than usual and you can't say I'm active at home.

Gloria, feel free to ask any questions you want; I do not mind.

Amy, cute picture of the animals.  My cat meows at Tom occasionally, wondering where I am.

Now, I think I'll ask to go back to bed.

Checking in, came to see what time the Super Bowl starts, I won't be watching but will be rooting for the KC Chiefs since they have a "kid" from here (Blake Bell) playing. Watched his dad & uncle (twins) grow up & sat behind them in church until they got too big to see around. They also played for the Chiefs for a while. Every time I've watched any sports, think I am a jinx, the team I root for loses.

Mary Ann, so happy to see how good you are doing & know you will have a fan club before you get out of there. Glad the food tasted good today, doubt if a few pounds will hurt. Maybe Tom could bring Kendrick (the therapy cat) in for a visit. Have you ever had a harness on him?  We tried every type possible on old Lauren Kat but she could slip out & get away. Have not even tried with Tom & Tiger. Hard to tell how he will act when you get home. One time when we had to leave our German Shepherd in a kennel to visit Cas' mother, dog was so mad at us when we picked her up a week later she wouldn't have anything to do with us for a whole day. When I put her out back to go potty she sat there with her back to the house & barked at the empty field. When she forgave us she all but ate us up!

Last I checked the temp was 72°.. not your normal Feb 2 temps. Hear we are to have an early spring, my poor rose bush has fat buds of leaves all up & down the stalks.... and they are not going to like the freezing weather to come starting tomorrow. :'(

Lloyd, I do think I would send that "friend" a registered letter telling him his stuff will be setting out for the trash pick up unless he gets it first! If he has gone past the time the judge gave him to get it, you could also charge him rent for the space it takes up & for having to pay someone to haul it out of your basement..... I am not a nice person when thinking, but not so sure I'd have the guts to actually do what I say.  ::) Might be best for your heart to NOT think about it at all.

I need a nap, going to heat some salmon I baked last week & have some mixed veggies that steamed in the bag in the microwave. They aren't too bad with a big chunk of butter while hot.

I just wrote a long message in Norm's, hit the mouse on the chair arm to get the cursor where I could see it, lost the post.  I won't try to duplicate that!

I had a nice supper, but they're so shorthanded on a Sunday night, no one could come to cut the meat so I picked it up and ate it by hand.  The rest of the meal was so-so.  The meal at noon was meatloaf, broccoli and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy.  That was good.  Apple pie for dessert.

Shirley, I've worked to get those pounds off so I do not want to put them back on.  I am too short for my weight.

Amy, I find I miss the cat more than I thought.  I mentioned a harness but Tom said he'd hate to be the one to put it on him.  Kendrick does not like to be handled.  When Annie moved out when we'd had the cat about a year, we went to visit Annie and Kendrick did not remember me and had nothing to do with me.  I don't worry now because when I am home, I will be the one who feeds him and he'll warm up to me.

Before I lose this, I'll sign off.  I am getting along as well as possible.

Mary Ann

Good Morning.  I am just marking my place and saying "Good Morning".. Too early  for anything important to have happened.

Good Morning, Amy !!

It is just so nice to see Mary Ann posting here.  I am sure she will be back with us before very long. They will keep her very busy for the next few days, but I feel like she will do well with her therapy.  She is a strong lady.  I am just so happy that she is doing as well as she is.

it is a sunny morning and supposed to be up in the 60's today.  Always welcome those nice warm days, even tho they will not be lasting very long.

I am feeling a lot better. Almost feel like I am back among the living now. I did do 2 loads of laundry yesterday and that was more than I have done for a while.  Not all put away yet, but there is always today.  Today, I hope to ge tmy hair done, as I missed last Monday.  It sure does need it !!!

Sure hope the good news will continue from Mary Ann and she and all the other friends will have a great day.

Good morning everyone, once again I slept my 8 hours and feel rested but not feeling much like chatting this morning. Must say though I loved the graphic AMY posted yesterday morning.

PHYLLIS  the sun is shining here for a change and might get up into the mid 40's.

MARY ANN  I seldom ask questions of anyone. I figure if a person wants me to know they will tell me.  The lunch you had yesterday sound so good, something I would enjoy, especially he mashed potatoes and gravy and the dessert. I could add 20 pounds and I might look like more than a bag of bones.

AMY  my daughter would love you avatar, she loved sunflowers and so does my granddaughter in law.

JOY  glad you are feeling much better.

JANE and LLOYD  where are you?

Have a good day.

Joy, you are right, they're keeping me busy, if not busy - occupied.  I wrote most of my activities in Norm's so if anyone is interested, go there to read. I'm getting tired for the day.

Gloria, I am quite open with things and put them in writing, however, if I don't know what you might want to know, I might not tell you.  I do not consider you nosy.

Now, I'm going to have someone get me to my bed and we'll take it from there.

I heard one news that we hit 75 degrees yesterday, the bottom has dropped out today. High was when I woke up at 2:00 AM to let Tom out. They can't believe winter is back! I'm on the iPad so a struggle to change size, etc.  More than one way to skin a cat & I know cats!!

Sounds like everyone doing okay & Mary Ann the shining star! Gloria, I told my brother that "since 2 doctors said I have severe arthritis, I'm going to pay attention to the aches in all parts of the body & howl at the pain, so he'd better get ready with sympathy". He laughed & said, "that'll be the day"..... He will be 95 in Sept. & starting to whine about being short winded. Naturally I had to remind him he needed to exercise every day, walk a little farther each day. He ignored me.

Might as well see if I can get this to change & post.  :-\

From Saturday Until Just a few Min, ago I was in the hospital except driving time home. wokeup with bad pain In chest. so I called 911 and took the worst ride I ever had, that ambulance road like it had no springs and square wheels on It. VA said Not a heart attack.but gave me no ideal to what it was. ekg read just like last one a month ago. so I just got three days meals and bed space from you tax payers. But it is good to be home, Shirley will rest better in my own bed tonight.Good Night and sweet dreams. Hope to see you all tomorrow.

Shucks, I received a telephone call and when I returned my post was gone.....I am kicking myself, of course!

I just want to say that I am so happy to read about your progress MARY ANN.  YOU are doing so well, I bet you will be going home very soon.  Happy to read you are having visitors.  Just continue your positive attitude and feel stronger every day.  I am not surprised that Annie is feeling homesick.  I do hope she had a good first day of work.  She will settle in, but it will be nice if her mother and dad can get down to visit her in the near future.

We did go to Dave and Michele's to watch the Super Bowl.  Michele ordered finger food from a Mexican Restaurant near us.  We picked it up and spent a fun time together in their newly updated basement family area, which is very well done.

Michele will go early Wednesday morning for her PET Scan.  She and Dave will go to the oncologist on Friday Morning for the results.  We are ALL hoping for a miracle of a clear cancer screening report🙏🙏

Right now we are in the middle of a VERY bad snow storm.....it is very cold and it will continue to snow from now through tomorrow afternoon 😩😩.  Yesterday it was 71 degrees here!  UGH😘

I must get my hubby some dinner.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Jenny, the plan is that I will be here for two weeks.  I will have some sort of therapy twice a day.  For instance, this morning's was the shower.

Reading about Lloyd having chest pain, at no time have I had chest pain.  My symptoms were tingling in the left arm and a clammy feel on my right.

I am feeling as good as possible under the circumstances.  I am going to try to get a table lamp beside me because the two overhead lights shine right at me; I need light at my back, not my front!

Otherwise, things are on track.

Nothing on the agenda today other than domestic duties as Callie would say.

Jane., hope today is a better day for you and you  have time to stop and smell the roses.

Lloyd, glad you are ok. My husband said the same thing about the ambulance ride ,said it felt like they hit every pot hole on the road.

Jenny, prayers for Michelle that the tumours are gone.....gone for good!!

Joy, happy to read  you are feeling much better. We also had a nice day yesterday to the point of some melting but more snow is to come on Thur here.

Gloria,I enjoy watching the birds hang upside down eating the seeds from the sunflowers when ripe.

Better get ready here.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, 33 now and no sun. The blue sky and sunshine we had yesterday morning lasted for 2 hours and the clouds moved in again and sun showed up just before sunset.

MARY ANN  might be the way I was raised, my Mom always said not to ask questions of people. I worked with one woman years ago and no matter who was talking to some one she would come up and ask what they were talking about. More than once the same person told her it was nof her business and she would reply  she could not learn anything if she didn't ask. Both my parents died from bad hearts and some of my siblings died as the result of diabetes or cancer.

JANE  you sure have been busy since the beginning of December. You sure do not have time to be bored with nothing to do, the joy of retirement. Just think of all you would be missing if you were still working.

SHIRLEY  I am the only one in my family that has been bothered with arthritis, I always have to be different.

LLOYD  what else could have given you the pain in your chest? Acid reflux? Do you have a lot  of heart burn? Good to see hou poting again. Rather see our taxes go for you instead of an illegal who sneaked into our country and want every thing we have worked for.

JENNY  prayers for Michelle and good results from the PET scan. She sure deserves a break.

AMY  one year when still living in Ca. my daughter got some sunflower seeds and planted them. Some grew so tall there were higher than the roof on the house. Flowers as big as dinner plates. I have some pictures she sent me, if I can find where I saved them I will send a few to you. Your daily graphics are adorable.

Have a good day.

Good morning, EVERYFRIEND!

We survived the storm.......it was not as bad as we anticipated.  LLOYD, I hope it will not be too bad for you and SHIRLEY!

I thank you ALL for the kind words for Michele...she does indeed deserve a break and I sure pray that it will be this time for sure!

MARY AÑÑ, your positive attitude is what will get you strong enough to get back home to Kindrick!   I understand the need of light behind you, not right in your face!  I did wonder if you had chest pains before you headed off to the hospital. I have read that women for the most part do not have chest pains!  Very interesting!

AMY, the graphics you have been sharing, along with the great ones that BUBBLE posts for us sure are appreciated!  Anything that gives US a smile is fantastic.  Thanks to you both❣️

I am off to get some more sifting through stuff done......still cold and messy out, so another good day to stay inside! M

Have a good one!

I'm here, maybe.  Lloyd, glad it wasn't a heart attack, you may have to think of what foods you eat & meds you take that can cause that heart attack feeling. Could be that since you are not doing all that hard work you may have to cut back on some of the foods. Why is it when we can finally afford to eat & do what we want, our bodies object to us enjoying???

Gloria, one year I planted a package of mixed sunflower seeds, all colors & they also grew taller than the house, well, the gutters on the house. They were gorgeous. Somewhere I have lots of photos of them, going to paint "someday".  :-\

Amy, cute graphic. Are the birds starting to shift gears for spring? I don't see any moving this morning, like they may have headed back south!

Jenny, I had a peek at Monarch Pass cam & looks like a "white-out". They have had quite a bit of snow lately. Extra prayers for Michele.

Well, I started this hours ago & daughter stopped by for a cup of coffee & I forgot ... had a nap.... and wiggled my mouse to open the computer and see this didn't vanish.  I'll bring up to date and post. Haha... nothing to update here!  ;D

I wish everyone well and happy!  I'm trying to catch up on a houseful of company for the past week and also catch up on some lost sleep!  I loved having them but they do tire me out these days!

Had a dr. appt this morning and she sent me to the hospital for blood work and xrays of my hand and arm.  All the walking and waiting wore me out, too!  And when I finally got home, Mickie wanted a walk and then lunch and then my cleaning dynamo arrived so no nap.  Now I'm off to bed to try to recover some of it.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep, good health for yourself and those you love, and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I woke up about midnight and finally go up at 1:00 am, fixed me an egg, piece of toast & cup of coffee. Got to watching an old movie so not ready to go back to sleep, busy day ahead so need my zzzzzs.

Jane, how did I miss what happened to your arm & hand??? Hope nothing serious.

Lloyd, weather guessers keep warning about ice & snow but so far hasn't happened here. Sure is bitter cold. Spring allergies are in full force, everyone is having itchy eyes, runny nose & sneezing. Even weeds are showing green on the river bank and expect the fat buds on the trees will freeze back. May mean no apples or early fruit.

Back to bed, 2 hours sleep is not enough!

Good morning everyone, 39 and raining. The weather thing on my computer says snow. No weather forcasting is right as far as I can see. We are to get ri=ain the next 2 days and a few days next week, too.  Not normal at all for winter here.

AMY  send some snow down this way, please !

LLOYD  glad you had such a good sleep. I thought I was doing good when I woke after 8  hours sleep.

JENNY  glad I can get downstairs for at least a bit of social time ot I would be getting cabin fever with all the darn rain we have been getting.

SHIRLEY  the first painting my daughter did was a sunflower. When she was young she loved daisies and when she grew up so did her favorite flower. My update is I woke and and having my first dup of coffee so I am still alive.

JANE  nothing like having a house full of family but it sure can tire us out. I do remember when my daughter would visit me for more than a week with my SIL and 2 grandsons. 4 peopl and me in my 3 room apartment. Crowded to say the least. I was still working at the time but managed to get a week off.

SHIRLEY  there is an old farmer's tale here if orchards blooefore Mothers' day we will have a late frost and no harvest. Happened a few times with my son's orchard. Hope you got more sleep.

Have a good day.

Good Morning to all my dear friends!  It's currently36º her right now and only heading for a high of 39.  I do believe winter has returned!  "They" are predicting snow for this coming Friday and for Monday, Wednesday and Friday of next week.  Boy!  Am I ever glad to be retired!  If I were still working, those would be my workdays!

SHIRLEY, I've had this thing in my hand for a long time and I just put it down to arthritis or rheumatism.  But I finally decided that it's time to find out exactly what it is and if there's nothing to be done for it, at least I'll know WHY I have to put up with it.  No big deal!

I have to get ready to do a couple of errands in town this morning and then I have a follow up appt with a dr this afternoon!

I wish you all a lovely, safe, healthy day and the same for those you love.   Make it your own in every way!

Good Morning from a snow-covered central Oklahoma.

About 4 inches of fluffy white stuff is covering everything. Roads are a mess.  Both sons "working from home" today but dil made it into her office - although it took 40 minutes instead of the usual 20.

So glad my paper was right against the garage door so I didn't have to shovel a path or use the broom to scoop it in.

Pantry is full, plenty of e-books to read and am still sorting/shredding.

Project du Jour, however, is to make a meat loaf from The Pioneer Woman recipe.  ("Pioneer Woman" is Ree Drummond - whose blog "went viral" and is now famous as the "Oklahoma" Martha Stewart).   (Edit:  tried to put in a link to her website - didn't work.  If you're interested, try  searching for The Pioneer Woman.

Dil made the meat loaf while we were in Wisconsin and it was delicious.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

We did not freeze to death over night, but it sure did get cold.  We are to be in the 30's today, so it is warming up some.  Next snow is to be Thursday late afternoon.....then Saturday some more, 😩 and next week too!

Michele's PET scan is done, so now we wait on pins and needles for the results on Friday! I want so badly to keep ONLY positive thoughts🙏🙏🙏

JANE, I hope what ever the issue is with your hand that it will be something that can be taken care of easily!  I hope you are trying to take it easy and rest up!

SHIRLEY, the mountains are getting plenty of snow, thankfully.  I just wish they would keep snow and the cold air UP THERE and we could just have some rain down here!  Wishful thinking on my part 😘

GLORIA, thank goodness you can get downstairs to brake the monotony of being stuck in your place with no personal contacts.  We start to get cabin fever when we are stuck in here for too many days!

CALLIE, the meatloaf sounds delicious and I have snagged the recipe, thanks to you, Amy!  And thank you for the nice birdies telling us hello today!

Have a good rest of your day.

Jenny

Meat loaf is about ready to come out of the oven.  Hope those of you who looked at web site/marked it scrolled down far enough to see the actual recipe, which is printable.

My discoveries:  The bread really does soak up the milk (I use skim) and the whole mixture goes into the loaf.  I had to tear bread apart while mixing the loaf.
Do use your hands and keep mixing, mixing, mixing until moisture is absorbed and mixture begins to hold together.
I didn't have enough sauce left for dipping after putting the second coating on meat. Not sure how to divide 1/2 cup into thirds (never mind- I really don't need to know  ;) ) so probably put too much on as a topping.

Late Correction:  Meat loaf out of oven.  Looks good - smells wonderful! - but not all drippings went between the slots.  Probably didn't clear them well enough.
When I used a small spatula to scrape leftover sauce into a refrigerator dish,  I did have about 1/3 of it left!!!      Spread about 2 Tablespoons of sauce on loaf each time and  you should have enough left to put some on each slice at serving time.

Definitely not something to make for "everyday" but I think I'll enjoy slicing and freezing single servings.  Am sure I'll enjoy dinner tonight.

I plan to bake some frozen rolls after I take the meat loaf out.  Might as well use the oven while it's hot.

Snow has melted off the street and driveway.  Trash truck didn't come by so was able to put another bag in the bin as I went to the mailbox.

Off to be a "recliner radish" for the rest of the afternoon.

I am not with it today, but reading & smelling the meatloaf brings back a thought... do any of you add a little milk when making hamburger patties?  My mother always did & when I remembered not long ago, it really does make a BIG difference in them!

I got a nap in after daughter went on to be with her grands one more evening. Her plane was canceled because of snow/ice in St.Louis so leaving in the morning instead of today. I've enjoyed her being around all week, but routine things just don't get done when we're sitting around having a cup of tea.

Hope all are safe and warm, I ran to the store this afternoon & going from car to door, even fairly close to the store, was bitter cold. I'm thinking that now I know about this arthritis, I may as well put in my complaints about cold making the joints ache more. I need knee & elbow mufflers & will drag out all my wool scarves to protect the severe stuff in the neck. Boy, I have a lot of gripes to make up for ... and these are legit! I can remember when my mother would point out a bruise and ask how I got it, and I could never remember but would think about it & notice it was sore after that.  :-\

So far no snow here, glad I didn't get the snow blower out of storage, been a couple years now since we had any to scoop off the driveway.

Dinner was delicious although I'm  not 100% sure I like the consistency of meat loaf made with bread soaked in milk.  The sauce was really yummy.

However - I take back my comment on "easy clean-up" by putting foil on the broiler pan and opening the slits. Fat did drain into the pan and foil worked great there.  But top was sticky and I had to use a Brillo pad on both sides to get it clean. I wasn't in on the process when dil did this in Wisconsin so probably didn't do it correctly. Probably should have sprayed it with cooking spray.

Next time, I plan to make half a recipe.  I have LOTS of meat loaf slices in the freezer!!!

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

I slept pretty well last night but woke up early.  And Mickie seems to know if it's close to morning even if it isn't light out yet so we got up and did our thing.  I have my coffee and we're waiting for the dog food to be ready for the meat.

I hope you all have a happy, healthy and lovely day!  Come by and share it will friends!  Yesterday, was a good one!

Good morning everyone..

Lightly snowing out at the moment and I hope it stays  that way . We are off for an appointment today for me this time. Not sure if we will continue on to the city or head right back home, weather will dictate travel today.

Jane, have an easy day for a change if you can. My 9  got pushed to 10 so I don't have to hurry .

Callie, thanks for the heads up on the recipe. Anything with bacon in it is a hit in this house.

Shirley, I have even thrown a handful of bacon bits in when making hamburg patties. I love a meatloaf sandwich with hot mustard on it.

Gloria, I think you may be in for a snack of snow, from what I have seen everyone east is going to get a load of it. East coast just got dug out and now more is headed their way.

Better put an egg in my boot and beat it..time flies away on me.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, it's raining and the predicted snow. Just 32 so must be close to freezing rain. Glad I do not have to go out. It was 42 years ago today we were hit with the blizzard that made the interstate highways look like parking lots the way cars and trucks were stranded. There was snow drifts up to the tops of doors and windows. I left work at noon and it usually took me 15 minutes to get home but that day it took an hour.

LLOYD  I would like to see snow falling instead of rain. That at least is pretty to look at.

AMY  thought it was just me that was worn out every time I had to go someplace. I know when my son took me shopping it took 3 days before I felt rested. Ahh those golden years we always heard about are not true.

JANE  getting something that has been bothering you a long time it is best to get it checked.

CALLIE  I have not made a meatloaf in a long time. The left overs sure make a good sandwich.

BUBBLE  nice to know you keep an eye on us in here even if you don't say anything.

AMY  thankd fo putting in the link. With that name I will have to send it to my daughter. She always said she was born in the wrong century, would have been a good pioneer.

JENNY  prayers continue for Michele. I hope Friday's news is good for a change.

SHIRLEY  when I go outside  I bundle up with a Totes vest under my jacket and a scarf and hat and geemagotchees on, too. It is a wonder I can move. I also have woolsocks to keep my feet warm.

JANE  I used to make appointments early in the morning but now try making all of them at 1pm. Never know how long it takes me to get ready anymore. OH I could have posted before you this morning but I "talked" too much.

AMY  another cute morning greeting, thanks. No snow here, raining AGAIN.

Have a good day.

Ugly day here.  Lots of rain with the promise of "severe" weather later on.  But, no snow so I won't complain.

Not a lot to write about since I haven't been out and about very much.  Today is grocery shopping day but don't think that will get done as long as the weather is like it is.  We'll just tighten the belt a little bit.  I made a very good soup yesterday and there is plenty left for "seconds".  Bacon-Potato-Corn Chowder.  Added some carrots for color (and extra vitamins) and we enjoyed it very much for dinner last night.

Hoping Mary Ann will be back home soon where things are more comfortable and convenient.  As Dorothy said, "There's no place like home."

Take care, All.

Good Morning Everyone from the
Snowy Rocky Coast of Maine.

I was very surprised when I
woke up today to snow on the ground.

It is predicted that we will
be getting rain this afternoon,
and hopefully that will help to
clear up the streets...

Unless, of course,  the rain
just makes things worse with
ice and it becoming slippery
underneath.

Good day to stay home and play
with my newly purchased  house
plants.

Have a good day,  Everyone.

Hello my dear friends!  It's been kind of a strange day.  I was out early and did what needed done and around 10:30 was just driving into my driveway when my cell phone rang.  It was my PCP's office calling to say that they had received the report from the specialist that I saw on Monday and that they were concerned about the blood pressure reading.  They wanted me to come in to have my blood pressure read there and asked me to bring my home monitor along to compare.  Since I was already dressed for being out, I went in the house and got the monitor and went there.  The readings are down from Monday but, she thought, still a little high.  So I'm monitoring and then going back next week for another check up.  I hope it doesn't mean pills.  I'm terrible at remembering pills and I detest taking any meds internally!  I'm really going to work on getting it down naturally this week.  Wish me luck!  I really think it was mostly stress!

And then, as I was exercising this evening, my phone rang.  It was my Texas daughter and she told me that she and her daughter are semi-planning to take the cruise to Alaska sometime this summer and would I like to go along!  Now what kind of question is that?  Who wouldn't like to do that?  Just the company would make it worth the trip but the fact that I've wanted to do that trip ever since I knew Alaska was there makes it even more attractive.  What I'm wondering is...Is it too late for me?  That's a lot of travelling for an old lady!

Now I'm off to bed.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a healthy and happy day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

If I could get Nancy to go on that cruse with you all if you would let us,and we have enough $$$$$$ in the savings I would go in a heart Beat. she has not ever Ben on a cruse. I have when I was married to Ruthie her bos sent us on a seven day cruse Hawain Islands. I would Love to take her on such trip. PHYLLIS, after reading about your Bacon-Potato-Corn Chowder, I am not sure I can post tonight.....I hope it was delicious and I just wish I had a bowl of it RIGHT NOW!

JANE, of course you have to go on that cruise with your family!  This will be a wonderful trip for you that yo7 will enjoy SO MUCH.  I am sorry that the blood pressure is causing concern, but I agree it is probably cause by stress and I hope as you monitor it that you will see an improvement.

Today is Son Mark's 46th Birthday and Baby Jonah's 14 month Birth day!  He had the day off spend time with his family.

Can't wait to hear the results of Michele's scan tomorrow.  She goes for a MRI on Monday......thank you all for the continued prayers!

Another that can't sleep, thinking of the appointment with the doctor to do cataracts, worrying whether I can get enough info to him in this short visit that he will believe me about the meds problem.

Jane, I do hope you get to take that cruise and take us all with you in posts! I knew we were alike, I've also dreamed of that trip ever since knowing there was an Alaska. Had a brother that worked on the aspect of the impact of the "pipeline" and a cousin that had a trucking line to deliver goods when Alcan first constructed. I always wanted to have a camper to just "mosey" from one end to another for one whole summer. We may be too old for that kind of trip but NOT too old for the cruise! Go for it! Hope you can get the BP under control, I have had the meds & did not work for me.

Happy Birthday to Mark, Jenny, and another to baby Jonah. Love to see a recent photo of him, he looks much older than his actual months (last photo).

Amy, I'm loving your snow but ready for spring. I will have to get my hose out to water flowers & small trees soon if we don't get rain or snow soon. I woke up & listened to the 3:00 am news & now too late to go back to bed. My appointment is 9:50 & will take that long to get all fed & taken care of. My best sleep seems to be when I go back to bed but would sleep right through the morning. Bet I will get a nap this afternoon!

Sandy, what kind of house plants did you get? My mother had gorgeous ones but one was so special her Garden Club friends talked her into entering it in the MO State Fair and she won the tri-color ribbon (best of show overall). Don't know what happened to it, she probably gave it to someone else to love, it had outgrown the window where she had it. Good luck with yours. I have one that my son gave me year before last for Christmas. Must be one that doesn't need a lot of direct sun because it has survived my dark tinted storm windows. I will have to put it in a larger pot this summer, totally out of proportion, but healthy.

Lloyd, my youngest son loves cruises and goes on one every year. I had my fill just traveling from New York to England & back in the '50s, to join my husband in the Air Force. He didn't have enough rank for the government to pay a wife to join him but they couldn't stop me going as a tourist and coming back 3 years later on a troop ship when time for his discharge. Both trips were a nightmare of storms & rocking ships, largest luxury liner afloat going, but at the time it was the last trip "on the northern route". Tiny little troop ship hauling wives packed in rooms (3 women & 4 babies in my room) with men below "in the hole". The cruise to Alaska shouldn't be that rough since not crossing, but skirting the coast, right?

Good morning to all that follow. Jenny, will be checking back for Michele's report. Do you know what time she will find out?  Sincere prayers for a miracle.

Good morning everyone..

Sleep was elusive for us both Shirley. Nap and or early bed time for me later today.
We have about 4 inches of new snow to play with this morning. A job for the snow blower....I will just waltz behind it.  Will have my tea and get out there as the birds will be looking for their breakfast.

Will make this short and bbl.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I think I know where all your lost zzzzs went last night.  They gathered on my bed and I slept better than I have in months!  Thank you all for sharing!

AMY, all that snow you got has been rain here!  We have puddles everywhere and I'm sure the creeks have risen.  And today "they" are predicting snow for about 6 hours.  I'm thinking it might be too wet and too warm to really lay.  But I do like to watch it coming down....especially since I don't have to go to work!

Like everyone else, JENNY, I'm waiting to hear Michele's news and I also wish your boys a Happy Birthday!

Thank you to everyone who wished me well from my blood pressure dilemma.  According to the readings since I came home from the drs. office, it's down a bit but not enough.  I have a week to work on it.  Lots of singing to do.  I read that singing and humming help lower one's blood pressure.  I can do that!  Just hope no one hears me because I can't carry a tune in a bucket!

I think I'm going to work on the back room today!  I have so much stuff to toss.  And some of it will be hard to part with!  And I'm sure some it should have been chucked years ago!

You all made me lean toward cruising Alaska and I forgot who said it but it is a round trip.  And Cindy assured me that Courtney will be my company from the Baltimore airport to Seattle where we would meet up with Cindy for the rest of the trip.  And Cathy or Philip will make sure I get safely to Christy's in Maryland where Courtney will meet me to go to the airport.  Seems like they thought of all my arguments!

It's almost time for the boinger so....

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Snow is all cleaned up and forgiveness of pup leaving out a stick of wood. Not one but two shear pins broke but I have replaced them now, ready for the next snow.

Jane, if your family doesn't want it ,do you have a Salvation Army or a Habitat for Humanity that will take it?

Have to think of something for lunch...grilled cheese and tomato soup? A nice salad? Will see what the boss wants. Dr office phoned yesterday and said some of his markers in the blood work were off.........just a wait and see with the next blood work.

Better get some work done..

Good morning everyone, I sure woke late late this morning-10:30. I was shocked when I looked at the clock. Don't have much time before my CNA gets here. Just about enough for 1 cup of coffee and my breakfast and get dressed.
Still raining here and this dampness has penetrated. to my bones.
Oops I had the time wrong-Cna is here already at 11.

Will try geting here later no promises.

Have a good day

Good Morning from the
Rocky Coast of Maine which
is suffering from a "wintry Mix"
and rain...  sounds slippery
something to stay out of ...

Shirley..

I bought a number of
low lighe indoor plants that I
hope to bring along to be bigger
and better in the future.

These include Jade, Ivy, Syngonium,
Peace Lily, Golden Pathos, Big Shot
Ivy  etc.

I understand that Goldern Pathos is suppose
to be good for the air....   but that is
disputed,  I guess..

We shall see how I fair
with all these new plants.

I plan on getting more.

Good Morning from a messy-melting-snow central Oklahoma,

Cox is replacing all the t.v. boxes and a tech came yesterday to do mine.  I can now change channels by voice command. Whoopee! ??    Haven't figured out how to do anything else, yet.  Of course, instructions are now all on-line....no printed manual to consult. Grrrrr

Jane,  I also encourage you to seriously consider the Alaskan cruise.  A friend and I went on a combination cruise/land tour...goodness, can't believe it was 16 years ago.  We cruised from Seattle up the Inland Passage and then went by Coach (bus with a bathroom  ;) ) on an inland tour.  So we didn't see as much of the coastline as I suspect you will but loved everything we did see.

I take 3 meds for high blood pressure (thank you, Mother, for passing along that tendency!) and my "normal" is still 20 points above what "the experts" say it should be.  Doctor who replaced the one who retired is trying to get it lower because of possible kidney problems (never have had issues with that) but I'm not sure I agree with doubling the dosage of one med, as he did a couple of weeks ago. I'm still taking the old prescription and trying to convince myself to try the new one.

Sandy, I know you're enjoying your house plants.  I'm like my Aunt Esther who used to say she didn't have a green thumb; hers was just dirty.

Shirley,  hope you can get your med problem sorted out so you can have the cataract surgery.  You'll be amazed at the difference in your vision.

Gloria,  I'd prefer having someone show up at my convenience - which would be "after lunch".  I tell my "early to bed/early to rise" friends I get the same amount of things done they do during the day - I just start and end later.

Amy,  I start humming  "The Skater's Waltz" every time you mention dancing with outdoor tools.  :)

Off to see if I can learn more about this new t.v. remote.  May have to take that new b/p pill today. :tickedoff:

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

I was just getting ready to post and every thing I typed disappeared, even doing the undo the notepad was blank.

CALLIE  I hope the update and new Cox box does not give you trouble.. I have had nothing but trouble since it was installed here 3 months ago. They do an update every week during the night and at times  I have had no email comin‌g in or going out at times. I called and they want me to disconnect this ot that and I keep telling them I cannot do it. I cannot move the TV table from the wall and I cannot pull the cord out. Same with the computer desk, cannot move that either. I do not like having to change the volumn when I change channel. I used to have it set on ome nuber on the remote and never changed it, now have to channge it every time I changs channel. Keep forgetting contour will change the channel.

JANE go on that cruise and enjoy. While the ship is sailing you do not have to do much.

Have a good rest of the day.

Jane:  Let me know if the ship docks in Sitka, Alaska. We took a month off from work (month of July) and volunteered while house-sitting and greeting travelers years ago.

Yesterday,at dusk, a herd of about 20 javelinas roamed the back yard here and it was dangerous because people were walking in the area.  Enough excitement. They are protected - humans are not!

Jenny:  Thinking of you and the family.

Janet:  Happy to see the Chief's (Kansas) win the Super Bowl.

We have had so much company this year, I took several naps after a few days of running around.  Everyone likes to come to Tucson in the winter.  It is so much fun and the last friends came from the Portland, OR area just to see us-they are special. More cousins are waiting for their annual visit and they want it warm enough to sit on the patio. That is the reason they travel from north of Seattle.

Gloria:  I hope you find someone to help with the service - Cox  needs to know about your predicament.

Callie: Forcing myself to walk daily keeps my BP down.  It doesn't take much time - even 15 or 20 minutes seems to help. Doing housework doesn't seem to do enough - drats!

Carol,  the first diagnosis of  my high blood pressure was "it's the safety valve on your pressure cooker" (this was in 1959 - a year after I married. Hmmm?  ;) )  Since then, it's always been about 20 points higher than is "recommended" and I've never had any issues. Former doctor just accepted that but he retired and the younger one who's replaced him has yet to be convinced. We shall see.

Your time in Tucson sounds like our life in Leadville. One summer, we had 85 guests between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  Fortunately, not all of them spent the night but I finally got brochures from the Chamber of Commerce and told youngest son not to fuss when I said he needed a nap and company would have to sight-see on their own.  Also taught both boys not to say "Are we having that AGAIN?" when the same dinner was served more often than they liked.  ;)
Loved seeing them all but it was tiring.

Friends in Denver said that, the first year they lived there, they would come home from work almost every Friday and find someone parked in their driveway.

Guess that goes with living in a favorite spot to visit.

Gloria,  new box is just for my t.v.  Nothing new on computer.  Cox does mess things up more often than I'd like but, so far, I've only needed to be patient.
I did find and print out directions for watching programs I'd already recorded and also how to get Netflix with Contour 2 (new for t.v.).  Haven't tried either, yet, but am liking the voice thing.  Hold down the blue button and when the word "Listening" shows on screen, say the network or channel you want....and Voila!...there it is.

Need to get Miss Ellen's birthday card in the mail so it will go out tomorrow.  Can't believe she'll be 27 "already"!!

Friday once again.....and it is a cold, dreary and very snowy day.

I do not know any details, as Dave just texted, "Back to chemo starting next week. 😢. I'll call later." 😢

We are heartbroken......  I know Dave will call when he can, but he has so much on his plate, and we just have to be patient😩😩

The children are home today as school was canceled.  It is really bad out.  The last I heard Dave had over a foot of snow and that was hours ago.  We have nearly 10inches and it is still coming down.

I thank you ALL for your continued support..... I am just so very sad that a good report was not what Michele had.  She has a MRI this coming Monday and we can only hope and pray that she might get a good report on that🙏🙏🙏

AMY, I agree with your graphic today for sure.....SO HAPPY to be able to stay inside!  I am sorry there is concern over Kyle's markers on his blood work.  I do hope it means nothing, but I know it is concerning for you.

JANE, I am a hummer and a singer and I am the first to admit I do not know what I would do without music......it is definitely a calmer downer for me....so keep on singing to the top of your lungs and get that blood pressure down!

I wish you all a good rest of your day.

Jenny

I'm so sorry about Michele's report (or Dave's)... Not what we prayed for, but maybe better days ahead, I'll keep praying. Been checking Monarch Pass cam & it's been nearly a white-out all day.

Not thrilled with my first discussion with the eye people, kept getting driven down the slaughter house in speed mode with nobody wanting to listen to MY concerns about what meds they will be using. I signed all the papers put in front of me but may walk out if they don't listen when the day comes (Feb.25) for the first surgery. How many ways can you ask "what do you use, what will be going INTO my body???" My eyes are just now getting better after the drops they put in to dilate, nearly 6 hours to come out of it.

Been giggling about all you singers.... I've got old music ('40s-'50s) on & go dancing through the house, lots of the time. I could carry a tune in grade school but never in any choir (drums in band). When the members sing in church, I mouth the words unless someone is near that has a strong alto voice I can latch onto. I can get off key very easy. One old Priest we had wanted everyone to sing, even off tune. He said "if anyone gives you a dirty look, just look them in the eye and say, "GOD GAVE ME THIS VOICE!" When Andy was in high school the music teacher told me that he had "perfect pitch", even though he didn't have time for music classes. he was asked to play the lead in a couple of the musicals. That's where MY voice went!  ;)

Happy Birthday to Miss Ellen, Callie. Got all cloudy while ago & thought we had a freak storm moving in, cleared off & sun shine again.

Fitbit tells me I had less than 4 hours sleep last night, must have looked at it wrong this morning. I am so sleepy I can't keep my eyes open. Tom & Tiger came in to eat but Callie stayed out. I offered them ground roast been like I use for making spread along with some of the canned white meat chicken. All 3 turned up their noses! They have bowls of dry "INdoor Delights" all around the house and will get their cans of Friskies yet tonight. I'm not going to offer them something different Got to have a nap.

Hugs to all..........Shirley

Good morning everyone, hope I have better luck typing here today.

CAROL  when my in-laws had a summer home on the ocean in Maine they were like you with company coming to stay. They went there to enjoy the coolness of being at the ocean. I have called Cox a couple of times, still the same. They need to send someone here to do what they want and I am not paying $50 for that.

CALLIE  TV, computer and phone are on Cox. This building it wired for Cox and we cannot change. We would all like to kick Cox out but company does what it wants. I use contour when I think about it.

JENNY  would love to be there with the snow, I am so tired of rain and the dampness. Sorrt to read the news about Michele, prayers will continue.

SHIRLEY  it takes hours to see right after a eye exam and the drops, every thing is blurry after  for several hours.

Gosh no one else here yet, guess I woke early again, better than the 10:30 yesterday.

LLLOYD  hope you are feeling great today.

Havea good day.

Gloria, I will send you some snow.this is the first weekend in a month that we haven't had to deal with snow. Maybe I should be careful as it could change!

Lloyd, I used to love winter.....now I love hugging the cookstove. I do think it is beautiful after a fresh snow has graced the trees..

Jane, did you get done what you wanted to do yesterday?

Sandy what colour is your Peace Lily? I think they are such a beautiful flower.

Joy and Phyliss, hope you are both having a better day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We got the snow they predicted but only in the air.  It didn't lay on the ground at all.  Today is to be a bit cloudy and then later in the week they are predicting 2 days of snow.  We shall see.  The temp right now is 27 heading for a high of 39.

LLOYD, you said the same thing my dad used to say.  We would get a nice day in January or February and he'd say, "I wouldn't mind if it would just stay like this until Spring!"  I think of him every time we get one of those days in winter.

I have an errand to do today and it's supposed to be cloudy.  That's my kind of driving day!

GLORIA, if I lived closer to you, I'd come over and crawl around on the floor and check out your wires.  I can still do that...thanks to having little dogs, I think.

Yesterday was a total loss as far as getting anything done.  I just couldn't get started.  I guess that's OK once in a while but I'd sure not like it be permanent!

Mickie and I are waiting for the boinger for breakfast and then we'll take our first walk of the day.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And hop in here to share it with all of us!

I REALLY NEED A NEW KEYBOARD!

Tome, I didn't put the chowder recipe into the S&F Recipe section but here is a link to the Taste of Home Recipe that I used.  I only changed it in that I added some chopped carrots for color and extra nutrition, substituted frozen corn for canned, and cooked it in the Instant Pot.  Top of the stove would be just as easy, I think.  We finished it off for lunch yesterday and like most soups it only gets better when reheated.

https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/bacon-potato-corn-chowder/

We had terrible storms here on Thursday.  We had one medium size limb hit the deck during very high winds.  It didn't do any damage but it made me jump a mile!  Trees are down all over the area and many homes are damaged.  Lots of clean-up from wind damage and flooding.  But, thank goodness, today the sun is shining brightly.  However, it is cold again.  Brrrrr!

Jenny, I'm so sorry about Michelle.  My heart is heavy.

Jane, the Alaska trip must be your decision but I think if you don't go you will regret it.  Your family will be with you to help you if things get a little difficult along the way.  And, they say it is a beautiful trip.

Take care, All.

Thank you Phyliss for the link to the recipe.  It sounds and looks delicious. Can't wait to try it.  Will have to pick up a couple of the ingredients though.  I have frozen corn (cut off the cob and frozen), bacon and evaporated milk.  I don't have an onion on hand, as I usually cut half of one up for a recipe, then the other half goes bad in the onion keeper, so I buy as needed.
Thanks again.

Jenny:  Sending you a hug and prayers regarding Michelle and all the family.

Amy:  Javelinas are protected. People are not.  Are you quilting anything now?

Feeling good about reorganizing under the kitchen sink.  I tend to put everything in there it was nice to have that plus a freshly cleaned oven.  There is a rubber kneeling pad to cushion my knees - owie, does that ever hurt when kneeling on the floor.

We went out for a special buy one get one free dish of French toast and strawberries for breakfast.  They ran out of the toast so we substituted sweet rolls.  After two months of not drinking coffee, it still is not easier.  Missing my caffeine. But - no more pain in the side.

Phyllis:  now to check out your recipe. Thank you.

AMY, you beat me to it!  I was going to tell Tomereader the same thing about the onion.  I just cut up a whole onion and I have some little containers that hold a half cup.  I put the rest in those and pop them in the freezer. They're quick and handy!

I'm heading for bed!  I just dropped by to wish Everyfriend a peaceful night's sleep, good health and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one...

It is midnight and I am just getting in to read about your day, EVERYFRIEND!

We had sunshine today and the temperature nearly got to 50 degrees! The snow was really melting!  We are very blessed to get this very wet snow and a LOT of it.

Thank you ALL again for your supportive words.  PHYLLIS, a heavy heart describes perfect what we all are feeling.  I spoke to Dave this morning for just a few minutes and I do believe this is the saddest I have ever known him be, and rightfully so 😩 We all know how difficult it is when our children are hurting😢

I spoke to all of the sons today and relayed the sad information and they are all so VERY heavy hearted, spouses too!

Tonight was the Daddy 💕 Daughter Dance at Kate's elementary school.  Our little girlie is getting so tall and so grown up looking.....life goes one, one way or another❣️

I have a question about the frozen onion?  Can you chop it when it is frozen?  Will it be mushy after being frozen.  I have thrown away many onions not knowing what to do with a piece that is left.

CAROL, the Javelinas are frightening and dangerous.   I would be afraid to go out after dark!  I have seen a few during our AZ days, but never had more than a couple of them running at a time.  Glad that cutting out caffeine is giving you relief from the pain...thank you for the hugs and prayers 🙏  You and Don missed a HUGE snowstorm! We are to have snow pretty much off and on for the next week, but hopefully not as much as we got in this one😘

I really must say goodnight.......sweet dreams to all❣️

Jenny

Good morning everyone, woke early again. .
AMY the cute graphic you posted here yesterday sure fits this morning. A whole 18 now at  4am but at least it is not raining. Still dark out so do not know what we will have today. We had beautiful sunshine yesterday but it was still very windy.  Lot of damage in the southern part of this state, omce again my family and me live in the northern part. We didn't even have a blink in electricity. This is a small-smallest of the states but at the other end there is a lot  of shoreline, the Atlantic and bays but no mountains.

JANE  you would not want to crawl on the floors here behind the TV or computer, you would be covered in dust  bunnies. The CNA's mostly are good but they do not even move a chair to sweep under it.

PHYLLIS  the rain and wind you had Thursday we had Friday. There were gusts that  were 74 mph, 1 mile under hurricane force.

TOMEREADER1  I don;t use much onion but will chop it up and freeze it and use just what I need. I know at the market here you can buy it frozen like that.

CAROL  there are  javelinas in Arizona where my daughter lives outside of Kingman. They saw one on the road one day when they were going home.

LLOYD  I should exercise but about all I do is walk when I go outside and walk aroung the parking lot.

JENNY  I have been longing for at least one good snowstorm but so far since the beginning of the year we only had 3 inches of snow.

Have a good day.

I'm up and we've had a short walk outside and are waiting for the boinger.

JENNY, I go ahead and chop the rest of the onion before I freeze it and it fine for recipes.  I'm not sure I'd use it in a salad that way.  It's not as crispy as fresh but it sure is handy when a recipe calls for a half cup of chopped onion.

Must leave you with the thought for the day....

I wish you all a lovely, healthy day!
Make it your own in every way!

I am up early, fed cats & myself, will be time to dress for church soon. I was shocked to see it is 50 degrees out right now 5:40 am, will have to double check, think that is the high for the day. :o I'm on the iPad so a little more trouble resizing the text, so better hurry. Wishing all a

Good morning everyone..
Warmer this morning with a temp of minus 12°. A day of rest here, all that  may happen is to throw a banana loaf together and sew. While at coffee yesterday the owner gave me some ripe  bananas that need to be used.

Carol, I am working on a skateboard quilt for a girl and will do two as I did two for the boys last year. Then it is on to making just cancer quilts.

Gloria, we lost power yesterday just for a few min, enough one had to reset the clocks.

Lloyd, one of the best exercise is to walk....start out small and work up. Just make sure walking conditions are safe. We have a lot of ice about here making walking difficult at times.

Better move it..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Thanks, Amy, for the Ham Chowder recipe.  I'll adapt it to the Instant Pot.  I love the Taste of Home site.  Almost all of the cooks that contribute are from the part of the country where I grew up so the food is generally the type of cooking I grew up with.  Good, home-cooked, comfort food.  May not always be the most healthy but is always satisfying.

Gloria, I will buy containers of Mirepoix (chopped onion, celery, carrots) at the grocery store and keep it in the freezer.  It is convenient to use in soups and casseroles.  A little expensive but if you factor in the waste of buying whole and throwing way unused parts, also your time and effort to chop, it is worth it....at least, to me.

The sun is bright this morning.  I'll enjoy it while I can.  The weather people are calling for another rainy week.

Enjoy your "day of rest", Amy, and All,.....if such a thing actually exists.  ;)  David brought home a bucket of fried chicken so at least I don't have to do much cooking today so I guess this is my day of rest.  (To be honest, I think every day is my day of rest.)

Take care, All.

Hello Eveyfriend!  I just stopped by and discovered that I hadn't even checked in this morning.  I must be getting forgetful in my old age!

My plan was to say that I had accomplished nothing escept.... today.  Then I began to think about what the exceptions were and I guess I did do a few things.  Mickie and I had 4 and a half walks, I went to church and stayed to visit at coffee hour, then I went over to Cathy's for a late breakfast with Cathy and Craig (Craig was the cook) and Kyle and his very sweet girlfriend who were visiting from Philadelphia.  After I came home, I put the dishes away out of the dishwasher and made dog food for the next few days.

Oh yes, somewhere along the way, I took a shower, got dressed and made my bed.  Also emptied the kitchen trash can and did a crossword puzzle.  I guess I can't say I did NOTHING today!

Maybe I'll do nothing tomorrow!

Good morning everyone, here I am wide awake at 3:am.  Darn, I like being awake early but not this early. If I could sleep a half hour or so in the afternoon maybe I would not get sleepy so early at night. At least this motning I will be up and dressed when my grocery order is delivered. 39 now wioth snow/rain in the forecast for today. At 39 it will not be snow unless a few big wet flakes fall. Just put my last AAA batteries in my mouse, better get more soon so my mouse is not working. I do have some wired ones but they are not HP and will not work in this lemon.

JANE  I had a good day yesterday-doing nothing much. On week ends no onr sits in the lobby so this place is too quiet.

SHIRLEY  I was surprised to see the temperature here this morning, too warm for February.

AMY  another cute morning greeting yesterday. Did you  THROW a bannana bread yesterday? When I made one it was meauring this and that to make it come out right. When the power here even just blinks the only clock I have to set if the microwave. I always loved walking but now have to use the rollator and not as nice to walk.

PHYLLIS  These days the less I have to try and cook the better I like it. Heck I worked most of my life so now deserve to take shortcuts.

JANE  did you think you would be bored when you retired? Seems like you are just as busy or even more so now.

Have a good day.

We are off to a Dr appointment later this afternoon. Will head to the city to do a few things and stop on the way back. Have some snow to deal with first, may just do a bit then finish it when we get back home..

:) Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for about an hour now.  I had the alarm set for 7 which I do every day that I don't have something to do early.  Mickie beat it by 15 minutes...which she does every day!

My breakfast is in front of me and Mickie is in the kitchen eating hers.  As soon as I finish mine she lets me know that it's time for our first walk of the day.  And she lets me know in no uncertain terms!

I have nothing planned for today.  We'll see what works out!  Something is bound to show it's need for doing.  If nothing else, I can always work on the clutter!

I wish you all a happy, healthy day!
Make it your own in every way!

And scoot in here to share it with us...no matter what it is!

I've been up for awhile because Terminix came early for the scheduled pest control.

It is sunny and cool right now but suppose to get warmer later.  They are saying it is to be a wet week....again.  I need to get out to get the car inspected so I can get the registration renewed but I still have some time so am not feeling too pushed yet.  I always get a little nervous at inspection time because I'm convinced that they'll find something expensive that has to be fixed.  I'm afraid that my "glass is always half empty".   :(

Nothing planned except laundry so I need to get some breakfast and get the day started.

Take care, All.

A good Monday evening to EVERYFRIEND.

This day has passed quickly for me......I had all kinds of plans for the day but only accomplished a few things!

We started out with sunshine, but it did not last and just after noon  the snow flakes were flying again!  We planned to run a few errands, but decided to put them off until tomorrow.  Edit: Dave just called on his way home at 6:30 PM and the roads are really slick!

AMY, I hope your home safely after the trip to the doctor.

Yesterday we attended a comic show, JEANNE ROBERTSON, at Denver University.  Michele bought us tickets, and we really enjoyed it.  We met Jeanne as we were walking in and chatted for a couple of minutes.  One of Bob's first cousins was sorority sister of hers at Auburn University, and she did remember her as they have been in contact over the years.  Many know her as the lady that talks about her husband that she calls "Left Brain".  She is a very funny lady.

Some friends of ours are on a 4 month cruise on the Queen Mary 2.  They are approaching Asia and have been told that they will not disembark in Asia at all.  They will stop in Malaysia for fuel and supplies.  This coronavirus is getting very concerning.

I have had many disruptions so think I had best post this before I loose it.

Have a good evening.

Jenny

Oh, Jenny, I just realized that is little Jonah ... looking so grown up! What a beautiful little boy, he could be the new Gerber Baby (remember when that was the goal?) I actually met one little boy & mother that was the Gerber Baby at one point. His mother even had photos to prove it. The parents had jewelry stands & traveled the US doing State Fairs, etc. A friend & I baby sat (just sat at the entrance of their trailer to listen for him) one day & were given our choice of a piece of the jewelry they sold. Gosh, that was at least 70 years ago! Anyway, do think Jonah is darling, thanks for posting his photo for us to share.

Phyllis, we don't have vehicle inspections anymore. I do remember when the really diligent inspector would note stuff that we had not noticed. Good luck with yours.

Gloria, I don't like the "wireless" mice... still using one on the computer attached to printer, but hate it when I forget to turn off & next time needed the batteries are dead. I do get the ones from the Dollar Tree & find they last as good as the expensive ones. My son uses rechargeable ones but I think they are a pain. I'd rather just plug one into the USB port & not have to worry about batteries!

I am so sleepy, still have Tom & Callie out so will check doors to see if they are ready to come in for the night. I feel bad for Callie, she thinks if Tom is out she has to watch over him, but she acts so cold when they do come in. Tom is afraid to be out in daylight so needs his exercise (I guess). Tiger likes to be the only child & has the run of the house. Such different personalities. Callie would have been a good pet if she had picked a family sooner. She just doesn't know the house rules. She has learned to purr and wants to be petted all the time, but still panics when she thinks I'm going to pick her up or hold her (got to be putting on the flea & tick stuff soon). I am concerned when they stay out all night they will sleep where other wildlife sleeps & pick up fleas. I really don't want fleas in the house! ::)

Amy, I saw (heard first) a big V of Canada geese heading north this week. They were not locals, much too high in the sky. Always gives me a shiver to think of the miles they travel during migration. Amazing...

Thank you for noticing Jonah's picture, SHIRLEY.  I just received this one today so decided to just size it down and put it on for you to see!  I do remember the Gerber Baby hype and how everyone wanted their baby to be the one.  How cool that you did meet one.  It is interesting how different your kitties are.  After a long period of time I would think Callie would start to trust you well enough to pick her up. You take such good care of them❣️

I tried twice to get in here this morning and it wouldn't let me.  I thought we might be down but maybe it was me.  Now I have to go get dressed because Mickie is saying it's time for her walk this morning.  I have a couple of errands to do today but I'm going to wait a while.  There's fog out there thicker than the icing on a cake and I'm not about to drive in that!

I hope you all have a great day and I'll be back a bit later to check on you!

Good morning every one, woke very late this morning after 9:am. Now I need my coffee and it is ready. Have to call and see if I am going to get a CNA today. That soman in charge sure does not know what she is doing. Maybe I should talk to my insurance company, they are paying for something I am not getting. I am supposed to have 2 hours every day, yesterday I had 1 hour and 15 minutes but this lady keeps going so did a lot in that time. I am about to start yelling at the one whe makes out the schedule but then she might get worse if possible. Have not even checked the temperature t his mornign but it is is little foggy and still raining. Anoher day of being stuck inside.

I need my coffee so will cut this short and go gt dressed and then have my coffee and then my breakfast, by the time I get it I should call it brunch. I will TRY getting back later, but time has a way of running away. I already feel like going back to bed.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone. Here I am with time to check everything at 4:45am. Like this better than waking so late like yesterday.

JENNY  your little Jonah is the cutest little boy I have ever seen.  (outside of my own of course :)  )A real little blonde. My MIL showed me a picture  of my ex when he was little and at the time they called him a little snowball with blonde hair but it got very dark as he got older. Hope Jonah's stays the way  it is now.

AMY  that tea must be special if you can only buy it in one place. I am not a tea drinker, only time I drink  tea it has to be strong and you know I am not feeling good.

LLOYD  good luck with more stents. Just do what the doctors tell you and take life easy for a change.

Goodness I beat everyone in this morning and sure weren't many posts yesterday. I tried to call the one who sends the CNA's out yesterday and kept getting cut off and kept calling. I finally got some one here at 1:30. A nice one I had before but by the time she got here I sure was mad as a wet hen. Not at her but at the "boss?"

Have a good day.

I woke up about 2:30 am, thinking about the meds & problems with all that. Not a simple cataract surgery when the big fear is what all goes into the body, one way or another. When I wake up I am always hungry so a poached egg hit the spot. I even broke down & had half a mug of coffee. Only had the one cup for breakfast so had a really hard time going to sleep without last night. I do think drinking it all day does keep the BP high.

Lloyd, good luck with the procedure ahead of you. How many stents do you have?

Amy & Jane, I also had trouble getting in off & on yesterday & last night. I had been searching some old "wordpads" that have tidbits of special sayings or information saved and ran across the saying June used to post at night, but I couldn't get back in Seniors to post it. Maybe now I will even though it is nearly morning! Back to bed for me. Callie is snorning so loud I can't help but giggle. Tom wanted out but since we already have rain & sleet showing on radar, I think he will be back at my bedroom door by the time I get there. Funny how he feels safe out in the dark but terrified in daylight, unless I am out with him. Tiger is still sleeping in my bed, she didn't get up with me.

Haha, Gloria, you beat me posting!! I sat here too long thinking. Who says we have to sleep at night like "normal" people??? My 3 kids all had totally different type & color hair. The boys changed color eyes as well as hair as they got older. Girl was born with black hair & eyes, looked just like her father, even to the frown lines across her forehead. But... she got my early white, all 3 started getting gray in high school.

"Have a peaceful night dear hearts...give your worries to God and sleep in peace...He will be awake all night anyway. " (from June)

Good morning everyone...

No new snow to play with this morning. I did have a dance yesterday afternoon clearing out the dog paths and trying to cut back the banks out front. Neighbour came over and helped cut the tops off the snow banks in the evening.
Today is catch up as are on the road again tomorrow morning, another Dr appointment for Kyle.

Shirlely, I would make dang sure that the Drs are aware of your problems with meds before they touch you!

Gloria, this is a down east tea and maybe a few stores carry it in the city but not in the big box. So we stock up every time we go north .

Jenny, I agree with the rest of the ladies Jonah is a heart stealer!

Lloyd, prayers for you, these stints will help you . Now, Nancy if you need help making Lloyd behave when he comes home I am sure Shirley, Jane and I would lend you a hand. Even if we have to hog tie em' :)[

Better get a move on slept in again.

Enjoy your day everyone../color]

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I had trouble getting in all day yesterday.  I made one last try right before I went to bed and was still shut out.  I was so relieved to see it come right up this morning!

The rain has stopped but it's freezing cold out there.  Mickie had her pill first this morning and then we took our long walk.  She loved it and snuffed all her favorite spots and did everything she needed to do.  Now we're waiting for the boinger for breakfast.

I'm doing all the natural stuff to bring down my blood pressure, too.  Eating red beets and olives, taking olive leaf extract, cutting back on the coffee....whatever seems to help.  I have a return visit with the nurse tomorrow morning.  With all the bad effects I've heard for BP meds, I'm really hoping I don't have to take any.

SHIRLEY, I remember JUNE leaving us with that thought so many times.  I couldn't have repeated it but you wouldn't have had to tell me that you were quoting June!  I really miss her!

Since we took our first walk after the boinger was set, it's almost time for it to go off.  I must say, I'm a little hungry.  So.....

I wish you all a lovely, healthy day!
Make it your own in every way!

PS.  NANCY, I second AMY'S advice and I sure will help with the "hog tying"!

JENNY, I keep forgetting to say, Jonah is a little doll baby.  Sure wish I could "play" with him!

Jane, I forgot about the beets & have some pickled ones (do they count?) in the frig! I didn't know about olives, slapped my hand yesterday at the store when I reached for a jar, because I thought the salt was bad for BP.... Oh, I do love 'em so will indulge! A bright light this morning, thanks!

Amy, I can't quit giggling at the cat.. kind of what a day without did for me. We are getting the prettiest snow we've had for years. Clinging to the branches & everything, radio is talking about accidents happening all around the city. Tonight the cold front hits so anything that melts today will really be hard ice tomorrow. I do want to get out the door to take a couple photos, will beg Bubble to resize so I can post. I am thrilled, will have to shovel since my snow blower is still in the storage unit & not gassed up. Don't want to drive over it since it lasts forever as ice & worry about the mail person falling. Last year I went out on the river bank & scooped up sand to throw on the driveway but never needed it so threw back. I thought it was a jinx so didn't bring any up this year.  :(  I have a bag of ice melt but so bad for the concrete & the grass along the edge.

Dryer stopped, better get moving. I will need a nap today, Fitbit won't even talk to me so little sleep!

Good morning from a cold and wet central Oklahoma,

I did get in yesterday morning long enough to type a long post.  But when I clicked "Post", it went to a "504 timed out" page....and that was the last time I could get anything to come up.

Of course, I lost the post and have forgotten everything I wrote.

Jenny, Jonah is absolutely precious!  No wonder you want to spend so  much time with him.

Shirley, All of the complex residents enjoy the birds that come to our feeders as well as the ducks, herons and geese that frequent the pond but we are having a real problems with feral cats and other "four legged" critters (including coyotes...in the middle of town!).
Time and time again, the HOA has cautioned against putting pet food of any kind outside because of the wild animals that wander in from the creek that runs down the west side of the property.
A feral cat gave birth to three kittens in my neighbor's flower bed  last spring.  As neighbor began planting/watering, Mama Cat moved the kittens to a back yard down the street.  That resident now leaves her garage door cracked open so they can come and go. Unfortunately, they are using flower beds for bathrooms and disturbing the birds at various bird feeders.
She has been warned several times about taking food to the pond but, apparently, no one has said anything to her about the cats.  We are all getting tired of it.

Didn't know about olives helping b/p but have eaten cold canned beets in place of tomatoes ever since I had some intestinal issues and was told to "figure out what bothers you and don't eat it".  Unfortunately, in addition to seeds, nuts, rice, etc. - I discovered that raw vegetables were a big problem.  So, instead of the usual lettuce, etc. salad for a side dish, I eat the cold beets, a canned green bean salad or baby carrots steamed just a bit past the "crisp tender" stage and dipped in Catalina dressing.  Works for me!!

Today is Miss Ellen's 27th birthday.  Had a nice long phone chat with her on Saturday and she said some friends were going to dinner and then to a favorite bar and see who else would show up.  Had I mentioned that she had to report for Grand Jury duty two days after she got back to NYC from Wisconsin?  She had a choice of 5 full days or 10 half-days and chose the 10 because she could then work a shift at Flywheel (exercise place that uses bicycles).  That's over and will be added to her Adventures.  She can't talk about the cases, of course, but has told about having to dodge The Media because she was in the same courthouse as the Weinstein trial.  She said there was someone playing a flute for The Media one day but didn't know why.

The "wet" is supposed to move out (no snow here) but the "cold" is not.  I was supposed to go to a funeral and a meeting today but decided my "squeaks and creaks" didn't need to get out.

Off to find something useful to do...or not.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Wednesday morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND!  I came in yesterday morning with news on Michele.....went to post it and the 404 message came on.  Of course I did not copy it like I usually ALWAYS do....so poor it was gone, gone, gone😩😩

I am not going to rewrite it all right now as we are awaiting the official word on how bad the brain scan REALLY is after it is compared to the last one, but the moral of the story is, it is not good news. I know many have her in their daily prayers and on prayer lists......I am just again saying THANK YOU for all of your support and yes, PLEASE keep the prayers coming as they are needed now more than ever🙏🙏🙏

I also want to say thank you for all of the sweet comments about Jonah.  He is one cute little guy and it is wonderful that we get to FaceTime and see little video clips of him nearly daily.  It does help to have this as the positive in our lives to weigh out the sadness that we also have.  The comment was made about The Gerber Baby, and funny enough today there were several things on the internet that said they are searching for a new Gerber Baby.  Of course this grandma thinks he would make a perfect one, except I think he is too old already!  He has great facial expressions and he REALLY like to eat EVERYTHING...... only bad thing is he has hardly ever eaten baby food as his mama makes his food and he eats pretty much the same food they do.  He loves broccoli but has just now started not wanting to eat meat.....  I just wish he were not in CA so we could see and HOLD him more often, but right now he is "boy on the move" so he is no longer into cuddling❣️❣️

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Miss Ellen, CALLIE.  We are having MORE snow and cold again today....geeze Louise!  This every other day stuff is getting to me.  We need to get out today and again early tomorrow morning and I sure do not like having to get out and drive in it😩😡
Yesterday I saw a video of some one that put a "slinky" on the pole to the bird feeder and boy did the squirrel that was trying to climb the pole get a big surprise.  It made me think of you as I know you have issues with that as well.

AMY, your kitty graphic reminds me of myself after a restless night!  Sometimes I wake up with a Donald Trump hair look and it really is not very becoming! Hahah

JANE, I am a little taken back on olives being OK to eat regarding blood pressure.  I always thought they had too much sodium also.  Maybe only the green ones are high in sodium? Hey, what ever helps you to get that BP down is great!  I hope there is improvement when you go to your doctors appointment.

SHIRLEY, I know you are also doing your best to get your BP down....I feel for you having to cut out coffee.  I only drink two BIG mugs in the morning, but I sure would miss them!  I love the quote you shared from OUR JUNE..... boy do I miss that lady!  Last night I honestly had to do just that after hearing more about Michele.  As one friend told me, she can not help but feel angry with God for letting this happen to Michele, and yet none of us ever want to feel this way😩

Michele did go to chemo this morning and Dave just called and said she is home, and not feeling well at all😩😩😡

I did not see your post LLOYD about stents, so I will go back and try to find it.

I really must go.  I wish you all a good rest of your day.

JENNY, prayers will continue for Michele and I'll keep her on the prayer list at church!  My heart goes out to all of you!

I'm going to try to get to bed early tonight so this is my "good night" post.  But I have to tell you a DUMB thing I did today.  I turned the water on in the sink to wash some dishes and then stopped in my office (which I'm trying to clean out) and got busy and forgot the water.  When I went out to take a box of books to the car for the library sale, I discovered wet carpet in the hall and traced it back to the kitchen sink!  I had a veritable flood in my kitchen including under the refrigerator which, of course, I can't move.  I cleaned up what I could, called my son and he sent two guys that work for him over to move the fridge, wait while I mopped and the put it back.  The good thing is that now it's clean under the fridge but it's going to take forever for the carpet to dry and it's right in a 4 ways crossroad!  I guess I won't be doing that again.  I'll wait for the water or turn it off until I come back!  Feeling a bit stupid today.  And it sure didn't help my BP!

Now I'm going to bed.  I wish you all a peaceful nights sleep and a happy and healthy tomorrow!  Wish me luck at the dr. tomorrow!

Oh NO, JANE! I know that was a bad mistake you made by walking away from that water running!  Other than getting the carpet dried, the worse is hopefully behind you. The best to you at the doctors appointment tomorrow! I hope you and EVERYFRIEND haVE a good night of rest.

Good Morning everyone. I  will try to re post so hope things are more clear.
I have two stents in the main artery's on the left side above the heart, they are all plugged shut and no longer of any help. they say the heart dose some repair,so has growen a new one from the bottom of the heart to the top. they plan on going through the grown this time and place stents so the blood flow as it should,I think. and Nancy dose not need you girls help she is bossy enough now all by her self. we got about 5" of the snow AMY sent to us, is wet heavy, and the ground is warm enough that a lot of it has melted the only way we could get a accurate masher was on the deck up in the air.

Good morning everyone.
Well, we are off to the city again. I do hope this is the last  trip for a while. Lightly snowing here but it will wait till we get back home.

Jenny, Michele is one strong lady and goodness knows she has been through a lot. Prayers continue that good news will be heard one of these times and soon!!

JANE!! My goodness  what amess to deal with BUT on the bright side your floors are clean......get a fan and put it blowing on the carpet or a dehumidifier to take up the moisture. Kyle just about joined you though, the other day he was filling the dogs water pail and I caught it just as it was coming to the point of over flowering.

Lloyd, you know we all love you and only want the best for you...

I had better git..

Enjoy your day everyone..

Oh, NO!, Jane. I'm so sorry for all the extra work. That is how I ruined my favorite egg skillet, walked off & forgot to turn the gas off under the skillet. Every time I use it I remember why it is not as "non-stick" as it was before. Can't remember now what I was warming in it but couldn't just throw it away without trying to clean it up.

Lloyd, our chill index is -3 degrees this morning, didn't take the cats long to want back in. They have had their breakfast but I haven't, so better move along. I have 3 bypasses that were still clean (after nearly 7 years) when the doctor put the 2 stents in last spring. I was happy he said the bypasses were clean since I can't take the real blood thinners, only 325 aspirin & didn't take that but once a week until lately & been taking every few days now. Cas had a blocked bypass & the cardiologist was so pleased when a heart cath showed he had grown his own bypass when one clogged up. He got a bypass about every year... had 7. But he had a weak heart muscle and nothing they could do about that. He also had a pacemaker/defibrillator. They tell me I have a strong heart, just the valves keep going bad. Right now there is a new one being tried but not on the market, so far doing much better than what is offered, so I'm hoping to wait until it passes the FDA or whatever has to approve.

Wake up, Amy, new snow awaits! Ours melted yesterday, wet driveway & streets that will be so slick this morning. Think the high only in the teens today.

Guess Gloria is sleeping in this morning. I plan to go back to bed after I eat & have my cup of coffee. Sure miss having that cup before going to bed, took a long time to go to sleep but will keep down to the one cup for breakfast until I can get this BP under control & eyes fixed.

Thank you, Bubble for resizing, posting & bringing the link in here. You do such a nice job & I can't get it right without Paint Shop Pro. I hate to see what the cover on the pool looks like when it gets daylight, that water will be ice & don't know what it will do to the cover. We have had a mild winter so far & hope that cover doesn't crack when it freezes, I expect past it's warranty, 2 years old now, but I didn't drain water down after it filled over from last rain. Worry-worry....

Jenny, can't help but smile when scrolling past that little boy. Your family is having the "high and low" of life all at once. As my mother used to say, "Honey, remember, we get thorns with the roses".... but those thorns can cause a lot of tears. I will pray for strength for all of you, to hold up during this time, the roller coaster of ups & downs.

Ah, ha... and here is Amy sneeking in.  Beautiful cardinal!

This is just going to be a quickie this morning because I'm up to my ears in stuff to do before I go to the Drs. for my BP Checkup.  A week isn't much time to bring things down especially if I'm going to be doing a bunch of dumb stuff like causing floods.

I did have a good night's sleep last night.  7 straight hours with only a couple minor wakenings.

I wish you all a lovely, healthy day!

Good morning everyone, we have a light dusting of snow on the grassy areas this morning. 33 now so surprised to see it. Looks like it is a light rain coming down now in the light from the light posts they have in the parking lot. I would leave the shades up all the time but it is like daylight out there at night and I cannot sleep

SHIRLEY  both of my sons have dark brown eyes like me and my Dad,and my ex. My daughter has a blue with a touch of  gray. My Mom and some of my siblings had beautiful blue eyes that I always loved. When my daughter wears different shades of blue her eyes look more blue. When I wake too early I try to be very quiet, there is a nice lady living on the floor under me and I don't want to wake her. Of course with this cheap wood floor and the rollator I cannot help but making some noise. I remember JUNE posting that, seems like so many years since she went home to our Father.

AMY  that must have been some strong coffee that kitty had. Hey, I would be scolding Lloyd if he doesn't behave and tries to do too much work. Like JOAN would say, we are retired and no longer work. Remember her saying "READ MY BOOK"

JANE  I must have got in yesterday before the site went out for awhile. Seems like I never get in after I post in the morning any more.

SHIRLEY  the CNA I have been having 2 days a week and yesterday she was talking about how many steps she wants to get in every day  and she wears a fit bit all the time.

CALLIE  when I first moved here there were a lot of feral cats around. A lady here volunteers at the pound and she got them to get all of them  and neuter/spade them so no more kittens being bon, only a few of them around now.

JENNY  so sad that Michele has more bad news. I am still praying for her.

JANE  a blind lady that lived here thought she shut the faucet off after getting ready for bed. Well the sink over flowed and flooded 2 apartments under her. One had to have new cupboards put in and new flooring in the other one. The witch sent her a bill for $5000. As if anyone living here has that kind of money hanging around. Her daughter and SIL gave the witch a check for that amount. She was 100 years young when that happened.

LLOYD  dopn't you dare shovel any of that snow. Let Mother Nature melt it.

AMY  love your Thursday Cardinal. He sure stands out against the snow.

SHIRLEY Love the pictures Bubble posted for you, and NO I have been sitting here since 5:am but it takes a lonh time to tali to every one. Had my 2 mugs of coffee and now my oatmeal is ready so better eat while it is hot.

Hace a good day.

Jenny:  I am so sorry for all the sadness heaped on your family now.  Stay strong.

Gloria:  Some people have their own idea of what they think is honest work.

Humming birds are already here.  They want me to make some nectar - we do not color the drink but use a red feeder.  It lasts until bees take over and I have to take the feeder down because bees clog the little feeder holes.

Oh, my goodness, Joy! So sorry. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, good food & kind help! Hope you meet & get to visit with other nice patients. Prayers and hugs... Shirley

Callie, been thinking over your problem with the lady & feral cats. What made us do what we did, have Animal Control trap the ones we couldn't keep and then have the 3 babies that CallieCat gave Cas "fixed".... (had to sign on the dotted line that they would be allowed to run free...}  Animal Control explained to me that "if we fed the cats they would be considered OURS and if they scratched anyone & didn't have rabies shots, it would be OUR problem." The Humane Society fixed & gave first shots to the 3 babies for a little less than it cost when we had LaurenKat spayed & first shots. So maybe someone needs to check with your Animal Control or Humane Society to see if they have the same rules about feeding & ownership. It is their theory that once fixed & released, they will try to keep others from moving in. I am a bird lover so not thrilled with cats hunting them, and these cats get so much food I really don't think they bother to hunt, maybe spring when the baby rabbits are around, yuck...

Thank you all for the comments about the sunrise & snow out my back door. I used to be outside at sunrise & sunset & get much prettier photos but getting lazy in my old days.

Past my bedtime, cats are all settled in for the night. Sweet dreams to all & God Bless. Shirley

Good morning everyone, Woke early again and enjoying my first mug of coffee.  Turned up the heat, too. After all the rain we have been having it feels like the dampness has penetrated the walls and got to my old bones.

CAROL  some of the CNA's feel like their job is to sit and talk to their clients because they think we elderly are lonesome and just need someone to talk to. Lonesome I am not. If I want to talk I can go down to the lobby, always someone there to talk with.

JOY  so sorry to read you broke your hip. We had a lady here in her 90's that happened to.  Only thing that changed when she got home the doctor insisted she use a cane. Hope your rehab goes fast for you.

SHIRLEY  I am glad the pound here is town got all the feral cats here fixed so no more babies. Even the freal cats are almost all goee a few roaming around.

Time to get another mug of coffee and then breakfast.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm up and Mickie and I had a short walk to the nearest corner and back.  It's light enough to see where I'm walking at 6:30 now.  I think Spring is on the way!  With that thought in mind, I can take whatever February throws at us!  I really don't like the short days and long nights

GLORIA, you beat me here today!  Now we're getting in the groove!

Mickie and I are waiting for the boinger for our breakfast and for a call from Frankie to see if we're going to the DMV to get her PA license.  I think we had a little of the frozen stuff overnight but there's none on my car or on the road so we're good to go.  She has to be to work at noon so we have to go as early as we can because there's ALWAYS a wait!

That's the only thing I have planned for today but I'm sure something else will crop up!  I guess I'll find out sooner or later!

I wish you all a lovely, healthy day!

Good morning all you early birds. I've been up but feeding cats & let Tom & Callie go out for a taste of zero temps... feels like. Tom sat on the step but Callie circled the pool & both darted through the door when I opened it again. I pity any animal & even the birds being out in this really damp cold.

Gloria, much as we used to love winter, the bones have changed their tune this year!

I forgot I'm on the iPad & much harder to change size, color & text..so will shut up & hope for the best, BBL.

Darling pup, Amy, thanks for the morning smile.

Like you, Lloyd, I've had some doozy falls the last few years & lucky no broken bones, hit the head hard & sore seat for a while. Do hope Joy recovers as fast as my father did when he had the bone replaced when in his 90s.

Darn it, Joy!  And just when you seemed to be feeling better.  I'm so sorry and hope you can heal quickly.

Finally, some sun today.  That will brighten the mood.  But, it is cooler again...not quite geemogotchies weather, Gloria, but cold enough to keep a wool shawl around my shoulders while I sit at the computer.  Amy, your temps. give me the shivers just reading about them.

Still haven't made it out to get the car inspected.  I haven't had vertigo for several weeks now but haven't been feeling quite up to snuff lately and it has been rainy.  I still have time before the deadline.

Jane, will your daughter be getting the "real" driver's license?  I can't make up my mind about it but probably won't bother since I don't foresee ever flying again and don't know of any reason that I will need to enter a Federal facility.

Take care, All.

:congrats:  :congrats: LLOYD!!! Not easy to do that but you did!!!

Snow is cleaned up for now, one thing about being in the country is no one..well you hope no one sees or hears you. I was blowing the snow by the bird feed and saw that I was also sewing the seed on the high banks!! I had to laugh out loud at the site I was seeing....now if the bully Blue Jays hog the feed on the ground the little birds can still eat off of the snow banks.

Better get busy, have a dryer full of clothes to fold...or iron..

PHYLLIS, it's my granddaughter who is getting her driver's license and, yes, it's the real one.  She's only 25 and lost it a few years back.  Hopefully, everything will go well and she'll be back on the road soon.  Since I've been her driver since she came back to town (and before she left) I'll be making use of her talents to drive me where I don't like to drive myself and on days when I NEED to go somewhere and it's not cloudy!

AMY, I have laundry in the washer and I'm going to go put it in the dryer and another load in the washere.  I was running low on some "ecessaries" so it was time to do this job.  Then I'm going to take a couple of bags to the dumpster and some back home and relax.

Frankie has put us off for the DMV until tomorrow so I shifted gears and did some other stuff instead.

I hope Everyfriend is havaing a nice day and JOY is feeling more "joyous" today because she doesn't hurt so much!

Jane, I also forgot to congratulate Lloyd on the weight loss.... so had a double reason to show up again so soon.

Good for you, Lloyd, know how you love to eat so really twice as hard for you. Have you been a grouch? <smile>

Okay, I had a recipe for oven baked salmon and can't find it again.... I'm pretty sure it came from here, maybe a link to the recipes led me to it, but I can't find the recipes again. My brain is still taking a nap. It was just rub the salmon with olive oil, salt & pepper & I added some herbs & spices that were recommended for fish.... absolutely delicious & froze great. I gave it a zap in the microwave to thaw a little & then pat of butter in egg skillet (size of piece of fish I froze)... lid on as it sort of toasted. Had it instead of red meat or chicken about every other day last week (froze 5 packets). When all figured out it cost $3 or $4 per meal for all I could eat of the best salmon I've ever had. Please, anyone point me to the recipe folder in here?  I've Googled & do not find any like it. Help???

Thanks, Amy.... I'm thinking someone posted a link for something else & I kind of looked around, so one of those times I'll have to "wing it". I know I wrote it down but when cleaning off my many wordpads, I cleaned too thoroughly.  :(  By "general" recipes, a very hot oven & remember which pan I used & will give it a try.

Been texting back & forth with my daughter, she's been all over her area looking for masks to wear on the plane trips but NONE around, even Amazon was out of stock for what she wanted. I suggested she tie a silk scarf around her neck, loosely so she can pull up over nose & mouth when confined inside plane. Her husband agreed that silk would work. I'm thinking nylon would not "breathe" through like silk, but know she has some really nice silk. I have a box of masks  here to give her that Cas had bought. I don't go anywhere to worry... not enough going on around here to be warned about so just keep the hands clean. You know new stock of masks will be 10x the price, partly because probably most made in China... but greed fills in.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Shirley, I bake salmon filets the same any other fish.  Season "as desired" and bake at 350 degrees until it can be flaked with a fork.  I think it took about 15 -  18 minutes and I turned it over half way through.
My doctor's office had a dispenser for masks when I was there a couple of weeks ago.  Maybe your daughter or you could get one there.

Joy, so very sorry about your fall.  Hope all goes well in rehab.

I played Bridge at a local restaurant yesterday.  Then two friends and I went out for dinner and to a performance of Ballet Folclorico Nacional De Mexico last night.
Didn't see anyone wearing a mask in any of the locations.

The performance was great.  Costumes were spectacular and the foot movements were amazing. A company from this ballet has been touring for 46 years.  I told my friends I vaguely remember seeing a performance as part of the Community Concert series when we lived in Colorado.  Friends "suggested" I might have seen the grandparents of the dancers last night.  :)

This has been a "leisurely" day and I suspect there's at least one useful thing I could do.  Guess I'll go look...but will probably get distracted along the way.  ;D

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend...and stay warm.

Congratulations on your weight loss, LLOYD.  That is certainly a big accomplishment for you.  Keep up the good work.

We just finished watching THE TWO POPES. We both enjoyed it very much.

JANE, I wish Frankie the best as she heads out for her license.

Thank you again for the continued kind words of support for Michele.  She is really tired but doing as well as possible after getting the external Chemo pump removed today.

Pleasant dreams to all.
