POEM
Robert Desnos 1900 - 1945
I have dreamed of you so much that you are no longer real.
Is there still time for me to reach your breathing body, to kiss your mouth and make
your dear voice come alive again?

I have dreamed of you so much that my arms, grown used to being crossed on my
chest as I hugged your shadow, would perhaps not bend to the shape of your body.
For faced with the real form of what has haunted me and governed me for so many
days and years, I would surely become a shadow.

O scales of feeling.

I have dreamed of you so much that surely there is no more time for me to wake up.
I sleep on my feet prey to all the forms of life and love, and you, the only one who
counts for me today, I can no more touch your face and lips than touch the lips and
face of some passerby.

I have dreamed of you so much, have walked so much, talked so much, slept so much
with your phantom, that perhaps the only thing left for me is to become a phantom
among phantoms, a shadow a hundred times more shadow than the shadow the
moves and goes on moving, brightly, over the sundial of your life.

A man and a woman were having dinner in a fine restaurant.  Their waitress, taking another order at a table a few paces away noticed that the man was slowly sliding down his chair and under the table, with the woman acting unconcerned.

The waitress watched as the man slid all the way down his chair and out of sight under the table. Still, the woman dining across from him appeared calm and unruffled, apparently unaware that her dining companion had disappeared.

After the waitress finished taking the order, she came over to the table and said to the woman, 'Pardon me, ma'am, but I think your husband just slid under the table.'

The woman calmly looked up at her and replied firmly, 'No he didn't.  He just walked in the door.'

Good morning everyone 23 but windchill feels like 9. As Amy posted yesterday I am not going out today. My son was here yesterday for his weekly visit  and surpeised me with a Italian sub, a foot long one and had half of it yesterday, really enjoyed it. Oldest son and wife should be home today from their cruise. My daughter and SIL will ber heading to Phoenix today till Friday. My SIL will be going int o the Mayo clinic to have a kidney out. It is a 3 hour drive from where they live so will be staying till Friday so the drive home will not be as bad for my SIL. My oldest DIL had a kidney out about 20 years ago and doing good. I will not be on Skype with her till they get home. Sure will miss our daily visit on Skype. Some prayers would be appreciated for my SIL. He is a good man.

ROLEY PETER  so good to see you. So sorry you and your wife both had some bad health. Pray both of you will be doing better now.

AMY  like the not going out from yesterday morning. yesterday was a nice sunny day but not warm and not as windy as it has been so walked my son out to his car when he left. Did not stay out long.

JANE  I am on a streak of waking too early in the mornings and by 9pm I am sound asleep. Almost back to my working days. Enjoy your daughter and Frankie's visit.

LLOYD  I did bundle up yesterday and had a short walk outside but was glad to get back inside where it is warm.

PHYLLIS  have not thought of Sadie Hawkins day in years. Wonder if Daisy May (Mae?)  captured Li'l Abner yet.

SHIRLEY  the day I went down on one knee it was not the knee that got me it was not having strength in my arms and legs to get myself back up.  Oh boy you made the thing of the original State Fair with your =it isn't even spring.

JANE  in the original  State Fair it was Dick Haymes and Jeanne Crane and Dana Andrews. The remake years later had Pat Boone but by then Jeanne Crane would have been too old. I think the first one was in the mid 1940's. We used to go to the movies a couple of times a week.

MARY ANN  hanging clothes on the line in winter at times would be frozen to the line before I could get a pin on them but boy did they smell good.

CALLIE  those were all the things we played in the school yard. It was a neighborhood school and after going home after school many of us went back to the school yard to play.

AMY  where ever did you fine Daisy and Abner? He was always running away from her. Love it. Yes the snow NUT is Shirley. Like me she loves snow but I no longer enjoy being out in it and am still waiting for some snow here. I think you kept it all for yourself.

SHIRLEY  I was always a quiet kid and never got in trouble. Being the youngest in a big family I was alone with my parents most of the time.  My 3 got Flying Sucers ffor Christmas one year, they were aluminum and round. Even I went down the hill having a ball with them. I had lots of fun with my 3 than I did when I was their ages.

TOMEREADER1 living here in the north east we always had a lot of snow. We all had sleds to enjoy and ice skates for all the ponds we had to skate on when frozen.  In those days there were no boys playing hockey on the ice. Thanks for the laugh I got about needing a nap after getting the bottom sheet on the bed. I cannot do the sheets on my bed alone, thank goodness I have a CNA who does it.

BUBBLE  thank you for the new March "book" to write in, Great graphics, stories.

Have a good day.

I'm up, moving slowly but attem. Cats are fed, the girls wanted breakfast in bed. Got to hurry & eat an egg sandwich, get dressed & off to church. Will be back later.

FYI... the day I changed sheets on that Tempurpedic bed I honestly did need a nap after. Trying to lift that mattress enough to tuck anything in was more that this old lady has done since the last time! Nobody uses that bed but daughter thought she might come in for a couple days & changed her mind, too many trips for her the last 2 months. I take naps on it, lay cross way on top of the cat sheet & keep a huggy throw to cover with. I listen to TV while sleeping.

Gloria, I will say extra prayers for him this morning. Any time they removed parts of the body it is very serious in my book.

Beautiful graphics & love the text, Bubble. Did not see that coming with the "husband" sliding under the tale.  ;D

Good morning to all... Love ya... Shirley

Good morning everyone.
Beautiful bright sunny day here....smoke is going straight up so you know that means it is cold!! We are warmer than yesterday but still cold at - 22° F .

A day of rest here..had another waltz with the snow blower ,making wider trails for the digs and cleaning up the driveway.

Bubble, thank you for the new start, At first I thought the man was trying to get out of paying the bill, then I realized what was happening. Thank you for the chuckle!

Gloria,I think kids of today miss out on some of the things we did as children. We do have wonderful memories to look back on. Remember when Lil Abner was in the Sunday Comics? Prayers for your SIL,let us know how he is doing.

Shirley, I have created monsters, one can't sleep in here, first it was jabbering Blue Jays and then the hollering Crows!
Dogs like to sleep in also, they don't get up until I do. ..

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

G'Morning All. Thank you all for your good wishes, greatly appreciated and in return I wish you all the same.
I enjoyed reading your post Shirley(and others!),thanks for giving me the chance to a join in your chit-chat and the reminiscences you ask for ie-30s,40s,50s, I find it very interesting to read of others past life's adventures !, here is a 'Brief' story of my life (So far !).
The 30s- at Eighteen months of age caught polio, spent that decade in Hospital and discharged at the outbreak of war 1939.
Then 1940s - I remember those years especially well! the first bombing raids and my fathers instructions to lay down on the ground or take cover !, another time, being caught out in the open 'the local Park' and remembering my father's words  !; to'take cover' I  walked into the nearest cover ie; a anti aircraft gun site ! and being carried out by a Canadian soldier and dropped into a trench, shortly afterwards my mother came looking for me, living on the south coast, the frequent machine gun attacks and 'Hit and run' bombing raids, hearing and seeing night time flashing of gun fire out in the English Channel and of course 'D' day itself a very frightening experience with very low aircraft flying overhead all day, another spell in Hospital, this time for 4+ years, discharged in 1947, started and finished work and my apprenticeship.
The 1950s - This is the decade I met my wife-to-be'Jean; we married in September 1956, raised our two children and like every one else struggled and eventually bought our own house, now we have four G/grand Children and again, like everyone else, both of us are suffering the usual 'aches and pains of old age !  :), but inspite of everything still enjoying life ..

Merry March Oneth,

March is blowing into central Oklahoma with high winds and temperatures in the 70's.  Doesn't mean we won't have another freeze, though.

Roley,  welcome to the Soda Shoppe conversations.  I hope you'll continue adding to the chit-chat.

I have a cartoon strip on my "social comment" bulletin board in which two teenage boys are talking:

Jeremy says:  "My childhood was incredibly bland.  No drama, no heartbreak, no triumph over adversity, nothing but wall-to-wall middle class comfort and security.
His friend replies:  "Whoa!  The suffering of never having suffered!"
Jeremy says, "No wonder I'm so cranky."

That about sums up my life growing up.

Had a restless night but am determined to go to church.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Amy, I had to look at that "C"twice for it to register.  I think my thermometer reads about 28 degrees, but the sun is hitting it and I'm not sure what it is.  I'm watching golf from Florida and it is nice there.  Tommy Fleetwood of England is on top.

Callie, I liked your joke.  I did have my suffering at age 17 but things were good or so-so until now and I am not complaining now, but I wonder when I will feel better.  I just wrote an e-mail to Jim's sister who  had a heart attack a few years ago, asking her how long before she felt better.  I know one month is not the answer.

I feel some of those zzzzz coming on, so I will leave and come back later.

A Good Sunday evening to ALL.

We had a bit of sunshine earlier this morning before the clouds moved in and now the snow has started.  This is like the 6th Monday in a row that the morning commute will be on snow and icy roads.

We did get out to get a few groceries in this afternoon.  Bob was able to spend a bit of time in the garage to clean out the sand and dirt that we have hauled in on the car.  This is the first big job he has taken on in awhile due t9 his dizziness.  The last two mornings he has felt much better and not nearly as dizzy, but still has a bit off and on during the day.  His next appointment is on Wednesday and he will go, but we are hoping maybe that will be the last one.  🙏

We had a very nice FaceTime with Son Mark and Jonah this morning.  That boy was telling me ALL ABOUT IT and laughing so hard at times....he is getting so interactive now and it sure is fun!  He is a smiley boy all the time.

Yesterday Granddaughter Kate did her solo dance and got the highest score of all time and other awards.  She sure does enjoy her dancing competitions.  Daddy had to take her as Michele is still resting a lot after last Wednesday's Chemo.

Tonight, the oldest grandson is fixing Sheppards Pie for dinner for his family.  He is taking a cooking class at school right now and is really enjoying it.  He did some cooking for his Eagle Scout Merit Badge and has always enjoyed helping with cooking off and on.

DON, spring sure is on MY mind also, but I think we are in for a lot more snow before spring!

ROLY, I really enjoyed reading about your early years of life.  Thank you for sharing.

BURR AMY...... I know you are keeping that fire going to keep you both and the doggies warm!

GLORIA, I will certainly hold your SIL in my thoughts and prayers as he goes through the removal of his kidney.  This is quite concerning, but I know he is good hands with the Mayo Clinic. I know you will miss your daily chat with Regina. I hope the "cruisers" arrived home safely.

SHIRLEY, I am sure you were disappointed when you heard your daughter cancelled her trip, but at the same time I am sure you are relieved that she w8ll not be traveling.

Thank you, BUBBLE, for the nice new SS and for the goodies you shared.

Have a good rest of your evening.

Jenny

I'm going to start working toward bed time... been a busy day. Tomorrow I will send Bubble a photo of me with my 7 great grands... all so different but was a real treat to watch them play together.

We had a nicer day than yesterday, less wind, but I still did not get the rest of the leaves raked up along with another whole yard full of sweet gum balls. Too early to take leaves off the flowers, winter isn't over for sure, but these early flowers are sprouting.

Love reading about the early years. Peter, my mother and teachers were always reminding us what you & all the children were living with during the war years. I wondered if you knew back then that we had to "clean off our plate because somewhere a child did not have enough to eat".. A lot of foods, etc. were rationed for us, and we did have drills for what to do in case a plane reached the center of the US to bomb. We did have a military base 20 miles from where I grew up and were told it could be a target. We had the black outs but nothing like the real dangers you saw. My heart still aches for the children (like you) that lost those years of playing to the bombing, etc. I do remember the years of fearing polio and never knew until joining Senior Net that polio came back as "kids" got older. My best wishes for many happy days from now on!

Mary Ann, smart thinking to ask Jim's sister about her recovery time. Also consider that your body is having to adjust to medications and that can be changed as you get stronger. I don't check side effect of meds when I try something new, but if my body starts showing signs of a problem I then Google side effects. Usually I find the pills are my problem so must decide if the risk of not taking is the better option. And I don't recommend anyone stop any meds without talking it over with their doctor first... only the person can make that choice. I do hope you start feeling more like your old self, it does take time.

Gloria, still thinking about Regina's husband.... do the doctors know what caused his problem? Tell her I send hugs & prayers.

Amy, no crows around here but sure have some friendly robins. The little Juncos/snow birds are hanging around but I keep hearing flocks of geese high in the sky as they head north to Alaska! Isn't it amazing to think about the traveling the birds do??? I am going to think about getting up earlier to see more birds along the river, they will be migrating soon and stop off here. I need to take a trash bag down & pick up stuff that floated or blew in along the bank as well as some plastic trays I took down to feed wildlife. I'm thinking about calling the "fish & game" or parks to see if there is a chance they would like to burn some of the brush that has gathered along the river, instead of letting it float down to the next dam to be cleaned out. Not something I'd dare do by myself, even if they offered a permit. It needs to be done. Lots of small trees the beavers have munched off but didn't drag to the water. Getting spring fever!

Don, you are sounding more like your old self, hope you are feeling as good as you sound.

Callie, we didn't get into the 70s but sure feels like spring, allergies in full swing! A chill for tomorrow & Tuesday but warmer the rest of the week.

I gotta shut down & check on cats. Time for bed & will be too cold to leave them out all night.

So you slipped in, Jenny! Congratulations for Kate, know how much it must mean to all of them with the suffering Michele is going through. Glad Bob is a little better, and the best medicine of all is getting to visit with that cutie, Jonah, right? How is it I am dealing with GREAT grands & you are just now enjoying the grands???

These two (my daughter and g-daughter) have kept me so busy these past two days that I'm wondering if I'm coming or going.  But the wondering only happens before I give in to weariness.  And that's what I'm doing now.  I have to go to bed right now so...

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy and rested tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning everyone. it 38º and mostly clear now @5:38 AM  and supposed to turn mostly cloudy this afternoon  and possible showers. I had a good sleep. but Nancy was restless and kept waking me up so we both got up and started our day. I have a machine that pumps preacher on and off  from my toes up my legs to my knees. it pumps the blood up to your heart and helps to not have blood clots so they say. helps to lower the swelling in my legs. feels good.Have a good day.

Good morning everyone.

What a difference in temp from  the past few days it is 20°F....so nice!

Today we are off to the vet, Babe has been favouring her hind leg and I think an xray is in order and Jesse is due for his needles. We go to a vet that is an hour away , I hope the rain or snow holds off till we are back home again.

Gloria, how is your SIL doing?

Lloyd, when Kyle was in ICU they put a machine on him just like that. He wasn't able to get up and walk about so they put that on so he wouldn't get clots. He wasn't too impressed with it but it did do what it was suppose to do.

Mary Ann...I was raised with Fahrenheit, cups, teaspoon. old school measure and I do not think much of the new. Now the kids of today are fine with it as it is what they are taught in school.

Shirley, we had to go to the dump yesterday and I tried to get photos of the eagles..there were two!! Sun ws so bright that I couldn't get a good photo, maybe next time they are there I will be able to get good photos.

Roley, hope you stop in again, enjoyed reading your post. Not an easy time of it back then either. My friend said it got that when the sirens blared they just didn't go to the shelters but stayed above ground.

Jane, bet you had a good sleep last night.

Better get a move on

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone. 24  now at 6:30 and feels like it with no windchill. Of course it is still dark so cannot see anything much outside.

SHIRLEY  I help my CNA make the bed after it is stripped. I am fussy about the way it is made so would rather help. I like the bedding tucked in on the other side I do not sleep on so it is easier for me to make it every day. Most of the ones I had when my regular CNA was out did not understand that. Thank you for your prayers. I hope my daughter will send me an email when surgery is over today. The doctors sure gave him all kinds of tests before they decided the best thing to do. The Mayo clinic kept calling them and telling them what would happen.  My DIL ( the one I call my second daughter) had a kidney out about 25 years ago and is still doing great.

LLOYD  for a change we have no rain in the forecast for the next couple of days but they have been wrong before.

AMY  I sure do remember the Sunday comics, started  them when I was learning to read. Thanks, will post how my SIL is doing when I hear. My daughter acted more nervous than he did when I talked to him yesterday.

ROLEY-PETER  like you I was born in the 30's 31 to be exact. The war did not hit us here like it did in England but we did have rationing and I remember standing in line for butter or sugar or meat when my Mother heard they had some in. Lucky we went to a neighborhood store and they waited on  me.  Of course the aches and pains have set in now.

CALLIE  my childhood was something like that Jeremy in your cartoon strip.

DON  I have been thinking of spring since the first cold day in the autumn. Instead of snow we have had rain. I would rather see some good snow instead of a dusting that is gone faster than it fell.

JENNY  hope Bob has seen the worse of his dizzyness. I had a bout of it years ago but it didn't last too long. Not a good feeling at all. Nice when we see our grands growing up. Thanks for your good thoughts.

SHIRLEY  I will be on pins and needles till I hear from my daughter.

JANE  just be gratefull you can be on the go with your daughter and granddaughter. I am getting to the stage I have leaving the house for anything.

LLOYD  glad you are sleeping better.

AMY  wow you are having a heat wave now to get above zero. I am thankful I can get out of bed every morning. Will not know how SIL is doing till I hear from my daughter later today.  I keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Like your graphic again.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept better last night than I have been lately!  I think I was tired right down to my bones!  Now I'm here waiting for the boinger after Mickie's pill and then breakfast.  My kids aren't up and around yet but we need to go to Davy's (the good produce store) so I can get a couple things that are good for lowering blood pressure.

Then Christy took today off so she can go to Bucky's funeral so that's our plan for the early afternoon.  After the boinger and breakfast, I'll have to get dressed and off to Davy's so...

I extend my prayers to all who need them and...

I wish you all a lovely, healthy day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it with you nosy (and loving) friends here at the SS.

Up before 6:00, fed cats but Callie wanted to go outside before she ate.... NOT to go potty, she waits until she comes back in to use those training pads. They have me well trained. Tiger now waits in the bedroom end of the house for her breakfast in bed... actually on the floor so she can sit on the floor furnace vent while she eats. Callie had hers served on the couch where she slept & Tom hops over the Dutch door to the basement as soon as he hears me come to the kitchen. I beat him to the door this morning & opened it for him. They are spoiled.

Gloria, bet you will be walking the floor until you hear from her.... when we have a crisis in the family I can't concentrate on anything until the worst/unknown is over. Thoughts & prayers go on as long as needed.... and the thank you prayers when over. My daughter went to Mayo in AZ during one of her illnesses... she's had a number of Crohn's surgeries & a couple of hernia surgeries, besides 4 kids. Right now she is in better health than since she was about 21, very pleased with herself.

Lloyd, they used those "power boots" on me in the hospital after heart surgery.... but said I couldn't bring them home. Think they thought I needed to walk, I did manage, I was only 78 at the time.

Got to go fix my breakfast. Gr-daughter said she will call later in hopes we can get together. She has severe allergy problems with cats so we will meet somewhere else. I used to wash up every sheet the cats lay on & hope that was enough. When they were little they were outside most of the time and confined to one room at night. Little by little they have taken over. I have cat beds in 2 of the bedrooms, litter box & tray to hold food & water in one, with a sheet on the floor to catch fur & dry food they spill. I really think normal house cats are not nearly as much trouble as these ferals that have to go outside every day. They bring in pollen from rolling in the grass or climbing trees, no end of trouble, but they are mine to take care of.

Wishing everyone a "Marvelous Monday".... (thanks to Callie).... with happy thoughts from me!

Everyone must be having that "Marvelous Monday" SHIRLEY wished them at about 8:30 this morning because no one has been in here all day!

My visitors are gone and all the activities are over.  We, (Christy, my son Phil and Christy's friend Julie) all attended Bucky's funeral today.  It was sad and joyful both at the same time.  So many of their school friends made it a point to attend and it was almost like a mini class reunion in front of the chapel after the ceremony.  Bucky was well liked by a lot of people and they all made it point to come and say Goodbye and wish him well.  It was a very nice ceremony and I'm glad I went!

Now everyone is safely back in their own homes and my family is here in spirit only.  We had a good weekend and I'm "happy/tired".  So I will wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

good Night everyone, I have been cleaning up the mess the not so good tenet left. he ceritnley was not a renter as he was supposed to be.we got $100.00  for the 14 15 months he was here. I like to be a good fellow , but not that good. that may have paid the increase in utility's for three month. I have been all day sorting and getting trash bagged up to Haul off. still have to run the vacuum cleaner and scrub up the kitchen. He left some canned food, but mostly what we do not use.so I think i will box most of it up and take it to the food pantry at the church we go to, maybe some poor folks will get some good out of it that way. good night and sweet dreams everyone.

Good morning everyone. Got 2 emails from my daughter. One when they got to the Mayo in the morning and one after he was out of a  4 hour surgery. After after 4  hours in recovery she got to see him. Stll groggy and in pain. That would be normal. Then got a call from oldest son, they got back from their cruise about 1:30 yesterday afternoon. I can start relaxing a bit but will feel better when daughter and SIL are back home again.

JANE  nice there was a big turnout for Bucky. That's when you know he was well thought of by so many people.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link.

SHIRLEY  those 7 great grands are all so adorable and do look like they are a handful when all together. You are looking great.

Still early so think I will go back to bed for another snooze. That is all I have been doing since Saturday.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

I am up but not at'tem..yet. Yesterday turned out way better than what the weatherman said we would get. No rain nor snow on our trip to see the vet. Babe has pulled a ligament and it takes time to heal,,,,no running about for her....can you imagine trying to stop the two dogs from playing? She is on 2 meds ,one she chews , no problem but the capsule......I am not so sure.

Going to the lumber company to pick up more wood ,hubby wants to make another trug, only smaller this time.

Shirley what a great photo of you and the children , smiles all around.

Jane, such as sad time for family and friends. Great testament to Bucky with the turn out.

Lloyd, I hope the next tenant is better and thoughtful of your place. Rome wasn't built in a day so take it easy in all the work you are doing.

Gloria, great to read your SIL is out of surgery , now will he have to stay in the hospital for a bit or can he go home. Once everyone is back in the nest them Momma hen can rest.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's supposed to be cloudy all day today but I think the sun is beginning to peek through right now.  It's 45º right now and heading for a high of 55º!  I can take that every day now!

SHIRLEY, those kids look so happy as does their GG!  You are so fortunate to have them so close by!

LLOYD, congratulations on seeing the last of a bad tenant.  Be careful with the work.  Nice and easy does it every time!  At least that's what Frank Sinatra says!

I'm up to my eyeballs in laundry today.  It's way past time!  The first load is in the dryer waiting to be folded and put away and the second load just finished it's first spin in the washer!  There are 3 more loads sorted and waiting their turn.  Gonna be busy.  And I've promised myself a trip to Davy's today with a stop at the bank on the way.  And of course, Mickie is about to demand her first walk.  She's been to the yard and that's never enough!

I guess I better get myself dressed before Mickie starts to voice her opinion.

I wish you all a lovely, healthy day!
Make it your own in every way!

And PLEASE, share it with your friends!

The sun is in and out but they are still saying we might get some rain.  Whatever.....

We spent far too long waiting to get the car inspection done yesterday but it is finally done and the check for the vehicle taxes and new registration fees is written and will be mailed later today.  That is one more thing to cross off the list.  Now on to the taxes.

Take care, All.

I'm "chasing my tail" as Mother used to say when we were running in circles to get ready for something special. This time it is to meet the gr-daughter & family from Seattle to take them to lunch before they head home. Normally I'd have them over but she is SO allergic to cats I don't want to run the risk of stirring the senses up before she gets on a plane & possible other germs that could grab her. Yes, I do worry about all of them.  ::)

Thank you all for the comments about the great grands, I explained over in photos what we were all laughing about. I'll explain another time about the 2 kids holding their ears.... why.... but got to get ready to walk out the door when I get the call they are leaving the place they wanted to take the little ones before leaving Wichita. Such a busy few days! It should slow down tomorrow.

Gloria, got to tell you that just before falling asleep last night I realized you had not posted about Gary, almost got up but I had checked right before going to bed. Family is family, where ever they are, right? So far all good?

Thanks, Sandy, hate to admit it, but I have enjoyed the greats more than I did the grands. Probably because I have more time.

I picked up my new glasses and not convinced they are a good fit. I didn't realize she was testing for glasses & thought only checking how bad the cataracts are. I do think the right glasses would prove the cataracts are not the real problem. How can vision be perfect at one point and totally wrong at a different distance if not the glasses?  If only cataracts wouldn't they be fuzzy at ALL stages??  I really don't know. Maybe a nap will help.... :D

well here I am on the slow side again. Nancy is already in there sawing ZZZZ'S
I just gave my self My shot. so came over to the computer to wish you all good Night and sweet dreams. Nancy finely gave in and went to the hearing doctor and got her hearing tested, she came out of there smiling, but yes she needs aids as I have been telling her for a long time, but the ear doctor is a young lady and knew how to tell her how bad her hearing is, but she told here she can get some good aides for around $1,600 a pair instead $3,000 each she had in here head they would cost. she had heard my brother say when they told him how much they cost his hearing got better all at once. she was geared up to do same thing. she knows the aids I have cost the VA about that much.  Good night and sweet dreams.

Not much to say, but I did want to at least say HELLO.

We worked in the basement again today...oh my, this going through things is not fun.  UGH🤣🤣

PHYLLIS, Bob worked more on our taxes and my Dads today as well.  He had a lot of trouble getting two out of state Turbo Tax forms, and spent a couple of hours on the telephone with Intuit.  Good luck getting yours done.

JANE, happy you and the family were able to attend Bucky's Funeral.  You know all of that laundry does not have to be done right away?  Rest up from your busy weekend.

AMY, good luck keeping Bebe toned down so the leg can heal properly!  Hope you can get that pill in her....we had to give Oliver the last few days of his pills that he was give; after he strained something in his back leg as well.  His was fairly easy to hide in his wet food!

GLORIA, I do hope Gary continues to do well after his surgery.  I know you must miss your every day conversations with Regina.  Is she able to stay close to the hospital?  If we still lived in Scottsdale I would have had her stay with us as we were not far at all from the Mayo Clinic.

SHIRLEY, I am sorry to read that the new glasses do not seem to be too good.

LLOYD, sorry the guy left such a mess for you to clean up.  Take it easy and spread the work time out a little.  Tell Nancy I wish her the best with getting the new hearing aids.

Tomorrow a Bob goes back for more PT for his vertigo.  He is doing about the same.  I sure hope they do not make him worse again tomorrow.

OK.....it is time to say good night, sleep tight!

Jenny

Good morning everyone..

Yesterday we had rain then snow but not enough snow that I need to dance to.
Today is take our papers into the book keeper then it is a wait and see.

Would like to put the quilt together and move on to another one today but we shall see.

Lloyd, hope all goes well with the hearing aids. As you know it takes a while to get used to them.

Jenny , working like that each day is tiring and one has to be in the right mood for it or nothing goes in the out the door bin.

Shirley, did they give you the right prescription? Maybe go back and have them check it out for you.

Phyliss, taxes are no fun but they do have to be done.

Better move to get ready for appointment.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I was already in bed for the night when I realized that I hadn't checked out here.  Right now the temp is at 39º but it's heading for a high of 51º!  I'm ready for the warmer temps and lighter clothes.  I'm so tired of so many clothes and never being warm enough that Spring can't come early enough to suit me!

I got a lot done yesterday....

5 loads of laundry, washed, dried, folded and put away;
The doggie groomer came and bathed and trimmed Mickie;
I paid all the bills for March already;
I made my list for Davy's and decided to go today not yesterday;
I have my list made up for today;
Mickie and I had 3 and a half walks;
I watched a good movie on TV last night;

I guess that's it!  But it felt good to get that feeling of accomplishment and my blood pressure was down in the safe zone all day!

Now I wish you all a happy, healthy day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it with your good friends here!

I've been up for nearly 2 hours. Had my breakfast, fed Tom & Callie, Tiger always sleeps late but they all stayed outside last night. I'd like to get a couple more hours sleep but hate it when one of the cats is missing. It is 46° this morning, wind not to be bad but fire danger is high with so much dry grass & leaves. Cats are loving spring, Tom & Callie back outside.

Hugs to each & every Friend.... have a Wonderful Wednesday (Callie, thanks again for having your days of the week stick in my brain ... I used to could say the day of the week without having to think of your adjectives). I'm going back to bed. Tiger will have to wait for breakfast.

Good morning!  It started out sunny here but now the clouds are moving in.  Sort of on the warmish side but still not warm enough for me yet.  Spring is a little slow even though the flowering trees and shrubs have been in bloom for a while now.

I liked the graphic for a Worry-free Wednesday, Amy.  I would like to know how to do that.  I've always been a worry-wart even though I know it won't change anything.

I need to catch up on the household laundry and do whatever else I can't avoid so I'll be getting on with my breakfast and start my day.

Take care, All.

Good morning everyone, finally got here with my coffee, boy am I moving slow this morning. Had rain over night and of course anyone with arthritis will tell you the dampness of rain does not help. Just heard on the weather report that it will be very windy with gusts up to 50mph.  Yesterday was like a day in early May, when my CNA left I went out with her and sat on the porch chatting with a few others sitting there enjoying it. 35 now but feels like 26 with the wind already.

Got an email from my daughter last night that my SIL was released from the hospital and when she went to the Mayo to see him in the morning he was up walking around a little and not feeling the pain he did after the surgery. The hotel they are in is not the one on the grounds of the clinic but a mile away from it and has a small kitchen so the couple who went there on Monday  for groceries so no restaurant food. That couple will be back there on Friday to get them home. My daughter will not drive in that traffic so one will drive their car and the other will drive their own car. That will be a 6 hour ride for them but they insisted in doing it. All the folks who live on that old ranch are all like people used to be, always helping each other.

AMY  you are so right, this momma hen always feels better when her chicks are where they belong. I am the warrier  in the family, oldest son is almost as bad as me.

JANE  after having overnight guests there is always a lot of laundry. I remember those days.

PHYLLIS  looks like you have been busy with the car and now the taxes, the worse part.

SHIRLEY  looks lie my SIL is doing good. The reason they are staing til Friday is to give him time to rest before the long 3 hour uncomfortable ride home.

LLOYD  I have been thinking it is time to get my hearing tested. wonder how those $200. hearing aids I see on TV and in magazines work.

JENNY  my SIL seems to be doing good from what my daughter emailed me yesterday.

AMY  your Wednesday saying is right but I still worry anyway.

JANE  today is laundry day here for my CNA. It is a day when the town bus picks up those in senior housing to go to the market and drugstore. Not many using the washers/dyers so always free ones.

SHIRLEY  I have been up almost 3 hours already but moving very slow.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyone
from the cloudy warm but windy
rocky coast of Maine.

Shirley ... as a layman's understanding
of cataracts,  they messed up my ability
to see clearly until they get so bad that
I couldn't see well and my vision kept
getting worse.

Once they are removed, the doctor put  in a
new lens that allowed me to see oh so
much better...clearer with out glasses
for distance... and only needing them
for computer and very close work.

I was even able to continue my blood
thinners when they operated on
my cataract.

I know that we are all different and
react differently to being
operated on.

I know that decision to get
your eyes fixed is very difficult
for you.  Hopefully your eye
surgeon understands your issues
and can help you.

Well crazy super Tuesday is over and
done with and I am thrilled at
the outcome.

Finally the future is beginning to
look brighter for us here in the
US. And that will spill out
around the world.

love to all
SAndy

Good Morning,

Janie,  so glad to see your list of positive things you did yesterday!

I also had a nice day, cumulating with son/dil bringing dinner.  She told me to go on-line and pick what I wanted from a local restaurant's menu; she would pick everything up after work.  I did so - and we had a wonderful meal and an even more wonderful visit.  The three of us decided this could become a monthly thing.

Before that, I had gotten my hair done and gone to the grocery store.
As I drove into my driveway, I saw my next-door neighbor talking with our new neighbor across the street.  I teasingly asked if we were having a "committee meeting" and that led to a nice chat.
The new neighbor has just moved in and I think she will be a nice addition to the block.

Today, I'm subbing in a Bridge group.

And that's what's going on in my world...as of now.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day (no adjectives, Shirley  )

Amy it is Nancy that is getting new aids, she has none. I do you tax payers got mine through VA, I have state of art ones, cost you tax payers lots of $$$$. and if one get lost or goes bad VA replaces it. the mistake I made and to Late now was not making a career out of it. If i had I would be drawing about at least $4,000 per month pension + social security. and farming had too many years o pay in so mine is less than $700 per month.

It was a beautiful day here today!  The high temp made it into the mid 50s and it felt great!  I got a lot done and now I'm ready for bed.

I went to Davy's this morning and I got a lot of food that is supposed to help keep blood pressure down.  The rest of the time was spent cleaning and cooking all that food.  Most of it is fresh produce and Davy's has the best there is of that.  It was tempting not to stop by the in-store bakery and buy something but I held off that temptation and just bought the produce and some frozen tuna.

Mickie and I had another 3 and a half walks and she loves it!  She snuffs everything along the way and she doesn't even mind if I stop to chat with neighbors along the way.

Now I'm off to bed to see if the zzzzs are piled up in there.  I sure hope so.  They've been gathering there most nights lately and I'm loving it!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, slept good last night. Did not worry about my SIL. Today he sees the doctor and tomorrow the couple that went to Phoenix to be with my daughter so she would not be alone will be back to see them home. One will drive their car and the other their own car. My daughter will not drive the highways, she was always like that. She drives the areas she knows.

SANDY  thank you. Has it started warming up there in Portland? Tuesday it was like a spring day here and then it got cold again. More rain due tomorrow.

LLOYD  anyone who was in the service of our country deserves to get a break in medical and a lot more. I had a brother and uncle in WW1 and 2 brothers and several other family members in WW2, they all came back and only 1 wounded.

JANE  my BP has always been good. There was 2 markets I went to before moving here. One was owner owned, not a big company, for all produce. The name of that one is Dave's. Their  hamburg was always better, too.

AMY  My CNA has been busy since she came back to work. She keeps "saying what did those other do whil I was out?" I told her they made believe they were busy

Did most of our "family" take a day off yesterday?  Only  4 posted since I did yesterday.

Have a good day.

I left a note last night to explain why I will be busier than usual this next week, but guess I didn't post it. Even if I don't stop to report in, I always check on everyone first thing.

I had a call from my sister-in-law yesterday afternoon, my brother went in for heart surgery, a new valve and blockages. He didn't make it. They were staying in FL for a few months and he was sure with 2 extremely good clinics near, they could fix his short windedness. He called me last week to ask if my surgery & procedures helped, and even though I explained it did not help, he wanted to be fixed. Losing him is almost like losing our parents again, he was the one that kept everyone (cousins, friends & family) linked together. His wife asked if I would call some of the remaining cousins and sent e-mails to a couple I don't have phone numbers for. Sadly, most of them can't make the trip back to KC, where the funeral will be, but I am sure the church will be full since this is where they raised their kids and they all had lots of friends (5 kids). The kids are all so close and will take care of their mother, but as most of you know, this is very hard.

My 3 brothers are together again and I'm sure this one will move Heaven and Earth as he is welcomed to the family reunion in Heaven. He was a character, never met a stranger. I am glad he didn't have long to suffer but he will be missed here. Don't know when the funeral will be, but I will be there and probably my kids. For this trip, the cats will have to stay home with plenty of dry food outside, they are loving the warmer weather and won't mind staying out, even all night if we stay. My one son will be driving with me if during the week, his wife is still teaching. He would rather drive at night than daytime, so will be a very long day, when ever it is.

I've got to see if I can talk to my eye doctor about this problem with the glasses. I'm pleased to be able to see so clear with each eye, but totally tilted world when I open both eyes. I kept trying them yesterday to be able to explain to the doctor, but since the girls at the desk say I need an appointment to talk to her, not sure how long that will be. She has an astigmatism in both eyes and all these years it has been in only one, so probably the trouble. She also did not get the bifocal part right, I am supposed to see the speedometer with them on but doesn't work, I can read my watch better with the top of the glasses than the bifocal. I still don't need glasses for reading or computer.

To top confusion off, I discovered yesterday when I filled the car with gas, that they neglected to reset the thingy that tells me about oil & it now says only 6% oil remaining & had it changed the end of Jan... warmest day so they could wash it & clean out for me. It has gone back to the dealer ever since I bought it. I did call to let them know & they offered to have me come back for reset... but it's on the other side of town & will take most of the day, my concern is they forgot to change oil being so busy cleaning & washing it. I have never even checked the dipstick in this little Buick Encore in the soon to be 7 years I've owned it... it reminds me when it needs something. Best little car I've ever owned, love it for around town, it will turn on a dime & with the little turbo engine, it loves to run.

Anyway, my mind is wandering so I need to fix my breakfast. Cats fed, Callie wanted to go out before she ate so is back at the door already.

3 new posts since I started typing, I'm sure why mine got lost last night, forgot to have that last look.

Gloria, so glad no cancer and hope they have a long life out on their "ranch". Good they have neighbors that help each other.

Lloyd, this brother served in the Navy during WWII, got out & went to college & decided to go back in, couldn't get rank back in Navy so joined the Army & went through OCS, did a 4 year active hitch, got married and stayed in the Reserves, retiring as a Colonel, so will have full military honors funeral.

Good morning, Amy, and everyone else that drops in. I do have to move, not sure what the day will bring, but it feels like spring.

I was in here earlier this morning and my post last night was the last post.  I didn't feel like talking to myself so I went off and did other stuff.

The weather is supposed to get into the 50s again today and I'm in favor of it staying there until it wants to warm up.

SHIRLEY, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.  You are such  a close family that this will affect everyone.  He sounds like he was a very special person and many people outside your family will also miss him.  My prayers go out to all of you!

Some good news on this side...my granddaughter, Courtney, has had an offer from West Chester, PA University to enter their Psychology program to work toward her PHD.  We are all happy and excited for her!  They even called her to ask what they could do so she would accept their offer.  I said she should have said, "Do you have any scholarship money available?"

This morning was to finish up the last of the bill paying, including my school taxes for this year.  That was a big chunk!  But I'm glad it's done.

GLORIA, your daughter certainly does have good neighbors!  Not too many would drive that much for anyone else.

Now I better get busy.  There's lots to do around here and no one is doing it while I sit in front of the computer.

I wish you all a lovely, healthy day!
Make it your own in ever way!

And if you are facing problems, may they be the kind with solutions!

Slipped in to check on things before heading to bed.  I thought I posted earlier but must have sent it into cyber-space.  Can't remember what I said....."out of sight, out of mind".  ???

Amy,  loved your picture with the cardinal.  There are four pairs of them that "hang out" at my bird feeder all year.  So colorful and pretty.

Shirley,  I am so sorry about your brother. I'm sure there will be many memories to share when the family is together.  My prayers and love are with all of you.

Jane, congratulations to Courtney. What a wonderful opportunity.  :) at your comment about the scholarship.  Wouldn't be surprised if she's offered one.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

I hate to come in here and all I say is "about me".... but I really am drained tonight. So many phone calls I hate to look at a mirror, that ear will be bright red & twice the size!  Thank you all for the sympathy messages, they do help. I am surprised at myself for taking his death so hard, but he, more than my other siblings, was always my rock. I liked him as well as loved him and miss him so much already. Thank you all for understanding. Love you... Shirley

SHIRLEY, I am so sorry to read the sad news of your brother's passing.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.  HUGS to you sweet friend.

JANE, how nice that your granddaughter has received a offer from the collage to get her PHD.  HOPEFULLY she will be able to get some assistance with some grant money to help her pay the way.

GLORIA, very happy to read the news that the biopsy of the kidney  showed there is no cancer.  That is wonderful news.  I do hope their drive back home will go well for him.

AMY, I loved the rocking chair story you posted and thank you for sharing it.  I love Erma Bombeck.  She was a very nice lady and brought many smiles to all.  I only met her one time and found her to be very delightful.  I enjoyed today's offering as well and want you to know that I look forward to seeing what you post for us each day now🥰

News today is that we now have two confirmed cases of the Corona Virus here in our state.  It has been total panic here for a week of people buying many stores out of many items...just crazy!

Bob went to the PT yesterday and finally has started to feel better.  He cancelled his treatment for tomorrow in hopes it is finally over for him, but has two more treatments next week, just in case.

I just added a picture I got today of our Jonah boy....he fell asleep in the car after playing in the park today.  I thought it was very sweet!

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone. Going to have an ocean storm tonight and the is usually a nor'easter with lot of rain and wind but they are saying snow.  Will wait and see.

SHIRLEY  so sorry about your brother. My sincere condolences to you and the whole family.I remember you have talked abut him at times. I know the whole family will miss him. Keep your memories close and perhaps you will not miss him so much. "Out  on the ranch" it is like pioneer days, they all help each other. They are so far from every thing they all pull together when one of them needs help. No one wants to be paid for their help because they know the day will come when they need help. No young people there, all retired and want a peaceful life. My daughter just finished her 2 years as secretary of their association. My SIL will not do any office there but he always helps when needed. Odd couple she is out going and he is quiet and never started a conversation with someone new. He will listen to every thing and will talk if he has something to add. He has been more outgoing since they moved there and it makes my daughter happy. Going home today and some of the members at  the church they go to will be bringing some meals so she does not have to cook. They did that when my daughter had surgery.

AMY  when the 2 brothers close to me died I knew nothing till after they were cremated, that is what they wanted, only their family there.

JANE  this couple is one of the new ones on the ranch and closer to where my daughter is. They saw them moving in and went over to welcome them and asked if they needed any help. They had every thing in control so she invited them over for supper-dinner out there-so they didn't have to worry about cooking. That is the way it is there.

JENNY  no casses of that virus here in RI yet but stores are sold out of masks and gloves and many cleaning supplies. My CNA was telling me about it yesterday. I sure hope she does not get anything, she goes to so many different clients and I cannot function without her. She is like a family member. I noticed the new picture. He sure looks like an angel.

LLOYD  hope your VA doctor appointment is good news for you.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and I've taken both doggies out (Mickie and Cooper- Frankies doggie) It gives her a chance to sleep in a bit and I'm up anyway.  I've just finished my first cup of coffee and we're waiting for the boinger and breakfast.

Courtney and I thank you for the good wishes.  She's going to let me know if and when she accepts the offer.  I'll surely let you know.

JENNY, Jonah is so adorable!  I know how you feel being so far away.  I crave hugs from Emma every time I get a picture, a phone call or news.  What's with these kids of ours who have to live way off yonder?

SHIRLEY, prayers continue for you and your family!

GLORIA, don't know if I said I'm continuing my prayers for your SIL until he's safely and comfortably home again.

LLOYD, I hope you have good news from your dr. visit, too!  Be careful!

Today belongs to Frankie!  We'll see what's on her agenda besides getting to work at noon!  Cooper will stay here because she's coming back after work tonight.

I wish you all health and friendship and love of family!

Good morning everyone..

Sleep was interrupted many times with Babe wanting out. Not sure if the new meds are causing this or not as it is not her usual behaviour.

I think Kyle would like to go road running today.....will see if a short jaunt to the wee village will do the trick as we are to get snow/rain some time today.

Janie, I don't think I said congratulations to Courtney but I wish her well in whatever she choses.

Gloria, ocean storms don't sound like fun. Stay warm and dry.

Jenny, what a cute photo.one could just hug Jonah all day.

Lloyd, hope the Dr gives you good news also. Safe trip..

I had better get going.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for March 1, 2020
Post by: Shirley on March 06, 2020, 11:27:19 AM
Jane, in the original post that I forgot to post, right after getting the news about my brother, I did tell his name & forgot I didn't explain when I posted again. We called him Jay, as a teenager he got called Jaybird.... as the high school where he started school's mascot was the Jaybird... so when we moved at the start of the war, the name got shortened & stayed with him all his life. Real name is James. We all got very common names because our parents had such unusual ones. Thanks for asking, I am still having trouble thinking of him being gone. If there is/was anyone in the world you'd miss most, this is where I am. Not looking for sympathy but I am surprised myself, just how much I miss him already.

Jenny, I noticed that little darlin' right away, am concerned with even taking him to the park to play with this nasty virus spreading so fast. I'm sure they are taking every precaution like my grands are doing with their kids, but seems many can be carriers and not know it's the real thing. The company my grands in Seattle work for has told employees to work from home if possible.... so it is scaring everyone. I know how badly you'd love to see that sweet baby but travel is so risky now. Hope your father is doing okay. Your family certainly is being tested to the limit this year. Hugs to the all.

Jane, my youngest gr-daughter is working on her degree in audiology, will get her Masters & PhD at the same time.... but sadly she isn't being considerate of her parents and didn't even ask about scholarships or grants. I am disappointed in this attitude of some of the young, thinking everything should be free or given to them. She even made the comment to her father that "maybe her school loans would get wiped out".... her parents have paid those school expences, her father even paid all sorority dues, etc. (parents divorced). Even though she got married this year to someone that "wants to paint and make videos" but can't get a job earning even snack money. Top that with spending over $1,000 on a puppy plus all that goes with it's care, and buying another so the puppy will have someone to play with. They are living with her mother who encourages this attitude, her mother told me she "didn't care if she ever moved out". So congratulate Courtney for me, she seems to have her head on straight! Shut up, Shirley, didn't need to say all this!

Gloria, just when it seems the whole world is crazy, selfish & un-caring, we hear about a little part of the world that knows how to care about others and help. So happy for your kids and the world they are sharing, it really is a pleasure to know there is a place and people still like that!

Amy, concern for Babe's change of habits, I am always concerned what medicine can damage in a body, even though necessary. Do hope you can find the reason. We love our fur babies and do what we think is best, but so difficult when they can't tell us. I'm with Kyle, got spring fever & want to get out & drive!

Lloyd, hope you get a good check up today. Do you go to the VA in Warrensburg or KC?

I do need to get a move on. Nothing to show for my day and so much to do.... laundry as well as this house isn't going to get rid of the dust bunnies if I don't help.

Road runners are back...lovely day for driving ...no sun. We stopped at Tim's for a pit stop then onto a grocery store where I found my tea, which is getting like hens teeth to find. This one is way better than Tetley and may soon be going off the shelves for good. Tis a down east tea with robust flavour but not many here know it.

Stood the van on it's nose, breaking for a female turkey, thankfully she did cross the road without mishap. No turkey dinner tonight :)

Shirley, I always worry about our pets and will notice anything off colour with them. I did notice that she isn't favouring that leg as much though. James may leave a void in your life but not in your heart.

I did strain the yogurt that was made yesterday and I made blueberry sauce to go with it but need to do the washing up yet...better get at it.

Good Morning Everyone from the
sunny,  warmer but windier
rocky coast of Maine.

Gloria,  Our temperatures
here in Maine are rising,
but with that comes
the wind and that wind doesn't
seem to stop until May...
So even though it is warmer
the wind takes much of the joy
out of that.

I do love the Sun Shining in
my Windows mornings.  And so do
my plants.    I am getting into
plants these days and am enjoying
my new plant habit.

I am very sorry Shirley to hear
that your brother passed... Very
hard news for you and your family.

Positive thoughts  about what
is awaiting him in his afterlife
helps for you to endure this loss.
So sad for you.

Days are flying by and
tomorrow the clocks Spring
Ahead...

Enjoy when possible.

SHIRLEY, thanks for the name.  I won't forget that one!  I think I told you I've never referred to my sister's husband as a BIL.  He's been the "BROTHER" I always wanted ever since they walked down the aisle after their wedding.  And his name is JAMES!!  I have to get down there for a visit!

Frankie went to work and both doggies are napping.  I think I'll join them.  My eyelids are drooping so far down I can hardly see through them!  Keep on keeping on, Everyfriend!

Shirley,  so sorry about your brother.  I know you will miss him. I seem to be feeling better.  Getting stronger.  Still can't do anything without a nurse or side with me.  Although I can do things ok.  Get washed and dressed with help getting my pants on.  Still cannot bend over more than 45%..  Still have to sleep with my legs restricted in a big foam thing.  Can't move them.  Surprisingly it isn't all that bad.  Feels good in the morning tho just to be able to stand up.  I am coming along.  I hope to be able to go home and see if I will get along by myself.  Will have to be very cautious.  Weather getting nicer next week.  Joy

Sweet potatoes, swiss chard, beets (and the juice you cook them in), dark leafy greens, black and white beans, olives, salmon, cheese, olive oil, cashews (no salt) algae oil, bananas, berries )strawberries, raspberries - red and black, blueberries, garlic, quinoa, broccoli, kale, tuna.  There's more but I only listed the stuff I like and I'm not even sure of some of that.  We have a Mennonite store right down the road that has fresh produce year round.  So I'm lucky because that's the stuff I like.

If you google "what foods will help lower BP", you'll get a lot of good info!

Good morning everyone, well the storm was a farce. After allerting everyone about the ocean storm last weather report I heard last night said it was too far off the coast and we would get a little rain. It was raining when I went to bed a little after 9 and now at 3am the walks and parking lot are dry. I was so tired last night I went to bed too early and think I was in lala land in 2 minutes if that long.

Got a brief phone call from my daughter late afternoon and they just got home. Will be glad to talk with her later to hear all that went on. She did say her other half had a good ride home. He will have to go back for a checkup in 2 or 3 months. They will not enjoy going to Phoenix in the summer, gets HOT there. Thank you for your prayers, much appreciated by family and me.

JANE  that is great for Courtney if she accepts the offer. You must be very proud of your family and what they do with their lives.

AMY  the storm that was warned about was too far out in the Atlantic for us to get it. Sop much for all the weather forecasters and the expensive machines they have. All the different local channels say something a little different anyway. Gosh you had me messed up, yesterday was Friday not WEDNESDAY. You had me wondering if I slept the clock around for several days. ;)

SHIRLEY  for many years my 3 kept me going until I got smart and kicked their father out. They kept me going with their love. The 3 of them tell me I should have kicked him out years earlier. My daughter always said she was born in the wrong century, would have been a good pioneer, well she is almost like them now with a few modern conveniences like bathroom and electricity and running water.

SANDY  like you it has been windy here, too. the wind whistles in this corner of the building, some nights I turn a fan on to block the sound of it so I can get to sleep. Wish we could get some of that wind on hot summer nights when it seems there is not a breath of air moving. I found out year s ago my plant s did much bet ter in an eas terly window with the morning sun. Now I have  trouble keping just a few here with west windows. Sun too hot by then.

JOY  good news  that tiy ar e getting stronger every day. Will you be able to get help when you get home? I feel much beer since he CNA is back after almost 5 months being out on sick leave. She has been busy here doing things that the lazy ones I had while she was out. She also has been doing some cooking so I am back to eating better again. Every day she gives me a good back massage that really helps for the rest of the day.

Since it is so early yet I have had my coffee but instead of breakfast maybe I should go back to bed.

Have a good day.

Looking to be a grand day .The trip we put off because of the bad weather they were calling for and didn't get will be done today. Hubby is running out of his cheese and I need two quilt backings. Wonder if he will be able to pass the chocolate factory??

Gloria, we didn't get the nasty weather either and I don't mind that.I am sorry about the day mess up. I was trying to get another one on and put the wrong one on. I must admit there are times I could sleep that long.

Better go see what the dogs are up to,need to make sure the pup eats before we leave.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 32 degees out there but the sun is shining and there's no wind so it's not too bad.  And it's heading for a high of 44 today.  I'll take it!

I had a good night's sleep for a change.  I was crawling in a little before midnight and I slept straight through to 6:35!  I haven't don't that in ages.  I actually feel pretty good.  I was really tired last night and I guess my body knew that and decided to let me rest..

Cathy said yesterday that she might go to the Amish store this morning and do I want to go along.  She's going to let me know when she's sure but I'm going to get myself ready just in case.  I haven't been there for about 3 weeks and I think I'm going through withdrawal!

I got a lot done yesterday and since Frankie's work schedule has been changed and she's not working today, she said she'll do the kitchen for me.  She's a nice kid...yeah, she is!

GLORIA, you are so right!  I am VERY proud of my kids and grandkids and what they've done and are still doing with their lives.  They all are more than willing to help someone who needs it and they never stop improving their own lives.  I'm so happy to be able to say that!

Now I better start getting ready to meet the day.  I hope you all have the best of whatever it is you're doing today.  It's your day!

Good morning!  It is a bright sunny morning and that is good for the spirits today.

Not much going on.  Staying close to home.  The corona virus is here in my town with just one confirmed case, so far, but probably more to follow.  A new case reported yesterday in the county next to us.  It isn't unexpected with our large technical/business population here with lots of international travel.  We are not panicking but being cautious.

Please take care, All.

Candy, we've been in the Hill Country & through during this season, for company "conventions" in San Antonio. Are the blue bonnets blooming yet? Gorgeous country.

The sun is brilliant this morning, but looks like it will be a very windy day, trees are rocking. Weather bug says it's supposed to be cloudy, don't have that right!

I am seriously thinking about a nap already, did not get solid sleep last night.

Phyllis, I think I saw that there have been 2 deaths from the virus in FL now. Not happy to think my family may have been exposed in the hospital, airports or where ever and brought it back to KC with them. That is sure a self centered concern, but my sister-in-law is 86 and for sure stressed, plus all their kids & grands were in FL for the surgery & back to KC for the funeral, so at risk. Still no word what the plans are, a shock to all.

I really do appreciate the messages of sympathy from everyone. Not sure why this death is harder to cope with than the others have been, but it is.

Good Saturday afternoon
from the cloudy, windy, mild
rocky coast of Maine.

I am pretty much hold up here,
with my two girls handling all
of shopping, drug store needs.

I know that "Cabin Fever" is bound
to show up,  but next week
I have to go get my blood
tested  (INR) so my blood thinner
will be able to stay in
control.   (coumadin)

I keep busy monitoring my diet.
I started last week doing a combo
of Weight Watchers and Intermittent
Fasting.  Which for me means not taking
in calories between 7 PM and 11 AM the
next morning...

It is tedious but for me is
very successful in allowing me to
loose pounds.   I order my groceries
at my favorite local grocery store,
and Kelly  deliviers them.    Erin picks
up my meds from our CVS store...

So as long as I don't order foods that
are not on my Weight Watchers plan,
I can stick to it.   I  have already
dropped 7 pounds.   But from now
on I will have to be happy with a pound
or two every couple of weeks.....

Slow going,  but necessary.

Have a good weekend,  Everyone.
Sandy

What a glorious day! Started off chilly but it soon warmed up an d is 36°F at the moment.
We stopped at one cheese factory and loaded up on Old Sharpe cheese then onto the chocolate factory ( I had hoped we would miss that one) Then onto the quilt store where backings were in short supply due to a sale they had on the 14th of February.  I did a bit of grocery shopping .Then on to another cheese factory where we get out red pepper and garlic curd and we also got some fresh garlic curd too! I was more than ready to stop for lunch and I think I brought more home than what I ate. Mercy they load your plate!! I did get the two piece fish and chips and brought one piece of fish home along with 2/3rds of the fries. That will be tomorrow dinner along with a vegetable....maybe the asparagus that was 99 cents a lb!

I don't want supper..maybe a bit of yogurt later on.....will see if the boss wants anything...

Sandy way to go on your weight loss!!

This virus has a lot of people second guessing themselves on going out into crowds.

Stay safe everyone.

Good morning everyone. 28 and still windy so feels like 23.
Was great to catch up with my daughter yesterday. We were on Skype almost 2 hours. They are both glad to be home. Now to keep my SIL from doing anything till he is healed.

AMY  you sure picked a good graphic for yesterday. The 3 things I had to change the time on were done yesterday morning. When my son was here he changed the wall clock in the kitchen as soon as he came in. I just had to tease you about the wrong day. I know I am terrible for doing that. I do like to tease, and amazing the people who have no sence of humor.

ROLEY  always good to see you post. I have heard that old age is not for sissies so I guess we are all strong brave people who post in here.

JANE  it is great that you had a good sleep. I keep forgetting I read here in the mornings and keep forgetting it is yesterday's posts. Hope you made it to the Amish store.

PHYLLIS  yesterday I heard on the news we now have 3 casses of that virus in this state.

COTTONCANDY  your area sound like where my daughter lives in Arizona. They are 40 miles from town and it takes them an hour to get there. Most of that time is coming from where they live on a mountain to the highway.

SHIRLEY  the passsing of a sister in law was harder on me than my brother's was. Her and I were closer than I was with my sisters.

SANDY  wish I could find a way to add pounds, not get rid of them.

AMY  did you have to get me longing to go to your chocolate factory?  Love your sunset from last night. I did have a peaceful sleep-just never long enough.

LLOYD wish you a good day.

SHIRLEY  it was nice and sunny here yesterday but was windy so stayed inside.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone.

Looking to be another lovely day. Temp is 24°F at the moment. Listening to the birds before I got up and think I heard a robin!! Will pay more attention when I am out feeding them.

A day of rest here......would like to play in the sewing room but we shall see how the day goes.

Gloria, I really do want Spring but I also know along with it comes a pile of work. Piling wood for one thing plus I want to do the flower beds over so I can put the smaller trug in it.
Hope today is not too windy and you can get out for a wee walk. Your daughter has a full time job now keeping her husband quiet and out of mischief.

Shirley, wind here would help dry up the puddles.
Roley, tis good to see you, hope all is going well for you and the Mrs.

Joy, hope each day brings you strength to do what you want to do.

Better get a move on.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 27º here this morning but heading for a high of 58º by midday!  I can live with that!

GLORIA, Cathy decided not to go to the Amish store on Saturday but she's off Monday and Tuesday so she's going on Monday and I'm tagging along.

I was awake in plenty of time to get ready for church this morning but I rolled over to pet Mickie and she wasn't budging.  I closed my eyes for a second and it was 7:20 when I opened them again.  Church is at 8.  When Mickie and I went out for her first foray of the day, the car windows were all frozen over.  I think it might have been God's hand saying, "you need the sleep more than the stress of trying to clean up the car and drive in bad weather."  I hope that's what he said!

Now, what can I do for the rest of the day to please Him?

GLORIA, it sounds like all the news from your daughter is good news.  I pray that I stays that way!

I've had my coffee and we're waiting for the boinger and then the day can take off in any direction.  Enjoy it as you will!  It's yours!  But don't forget to share it with us.

A Good Sunday HELLO EVERYFRIEND 🦋🦋🦋

SHIRLEY, it seems that one individuals passing just "hits" you harder than others, and that is understandable in this case with you being so close to this brother.  I sure hope the family can all get where they need to be without any other issues like the C Virus.  HUGS TO YOU🥰

GLORIA, so happy to read Regina and Gary are home safely.  I know you are so glad that you two can have your daily talks agin.  I hope Gary continues to get stronger each day.

JANE, I am certain that God understands why you did not make it to church this morning.....he knows your intent was good!  Sorry you did not get to go to the Amish Market today but you will early in the week!

CottonCandy, I am happy to know that you reside in the HILL COUNTRY of Texas.
I have fond memories of that area.

AMY, you know, I do not care one bit about going to the chocolate factory with you but I sure would like to go to the cheese factory!  Yum, cheese curds!  I am loving your graphics.....look forward to them each day!  Thank you.  We did get all of our clocks changed....well WE is BOB!  Half of them I could not reach if I wanted to! How is Jesse getting around?

SANDY, congratulations on your weight loss.....seems you are very dedicated to this and are seeing the results!  Good job!

OH NO.....LLOYD!  No drivers license is NOT GOOD!  No license, no driving the motor home😩😩 I take it you do not think your daughter was correct in telling the doctor this?  I am sorry, as I can tell you are up set about this🙏🙏

It is interesting to read all of the stats regarding the CV. We have 8 cases here in Colorado and they were just reveled earlier this week and as of yesterday there are no new ones!  Wish we could keep it that way but sadly I am sure it is going t9 get a lot worse before this is all over.  I did read that they think this virus has been around much longer than thought and think that many have had it and just did not realize it was this serious.  Of course the shelves are stripped clean here as in most places of any sanitizing items.  TP also as well as other staples.

Jonah and his parents are planning to come for Easter IF this virus does not get any worse and Bob and I have reservations to fly to Arizona to see my Dad in early April for his Birthday, but we are also playing it by ear,  we feel it would be much safer for us to drive down, but we have a time element involved with being here for Michele.  Oh my, so many things to consider😩 😷 🤧 🎻

Enjoy the rest of your day.....

Jenny

Denver my dutch e ways confused you I still have my License and they are CDL'S I Have health enough and am legal to drive a semis truck and trailer Or even a bus. But I have no intrastate in driving them. but am going to when Nancy get's to felling like traveling,we are going to load the van on the trailer,it is hooked on to the RV and ready to go and we will. yes our daughter should have kept her mouth shut and out of our busyness. but we still love her, but we will do what the two of us agree on. If we were at least 20 years younger we would sell out and go to Alaska and home stead, but as we are members of the over the hill gang , we will act our age. we are thinking about places we want to go and visit some of you seniors as well. as long as we can fiend a place to park the RV and unload the van and drop by for a visit. such as we did with Jane. and we May stop and see Jane again as we travel to see our kin that live in her aerie. we would like to drop in others of our senior net friends. good night and sweet dreams.

Nighty Night Everyfriend!  I'm off to bed and I wore myself out today.  Mickie and I had 3 complete circle walks and 2 halves.  We did a little outside work and a lot of inside work and we're ready to sleep.  I realize that, in my mind it's still only 1o p.m.  but the changeover to and from DST always wears me out.  I wonder why that is?

Anyway, I wish you all a peaceful nights sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Domestic duties (thanks Callie) are to be done.

Jenny, hope Bob has a good  day today. We like cheese and the favourite is Old Sharpe ,plus the curds:)

Jane, are you finding retirement easy to step into?.

Lloyd, I know children think they are helping but we do have a mind of our own to deal with problems. When the time comes that we don't then yes they can step in.

Better get going.

Good morning everyone, already 42 and to get up to 70, yippee. Going to feel like spring so maybe I will get outside. Slept better last night, soke after 6:30. So used to getting up in the middle of the night lately.

AMY living here I really have no chores anymore and my CNA does what needs doing and always looking for something to clean-even me but so far I can shower and still dress myself.

JANE  glad you went back to sleep yesterday morning. You and Mickie needed those extra Zzzzz's. The only thing wrong was trying to sleep on their couch, Couldn't get enough pillows to prop himsel up to sleep. When talking to her yesterday she rembered the loeet they have in her hobby room and her older son's room when he visits. It opens into a twin bed and with the arms and the back the pillows can be propped up for him. She was going to get to that when we got off Skype. I know that mattress on rhat couch is comfy because I slept on it every year when I went to visit on my vacations.

LLOYD  terrible when we have to stop driving. I know the first time I drove after my shouder surgery I could not make a tight left turn I knew it was time to quit. I often wish I still had a car and could drive but it is safer for everyone that I now depend on others.

SANDY  guess I dried up like a prune, but not all those wrinkles.

JENNY  like you I worry when anyopne in the family is planning on traveling. Just found out my grandson, his wife and my great grandson have reservationg for Disneyorld in Florida next month. When my DIL found out when they got home from their cruise she is going with them, too. Wish they would all s tay home with that virus all over the world now.

AMY  never too old and I can still think of what I would like to do. I have not seen a redwing black bird in years. Since moving here I have seen no cardinals either and those I miss a lot .

Have a good day.

When we lived in Dutchess County, NY, I always listened for the sound of the Red Winged Black Bird to tell me when Spring had arrived.  I loved hearing it.  Down here in NC they stay mostly in the mountains so I haven't heard or seen one in many years.  The Juncoes (Snowbirds) are still here so I guess they think Winter in the North hasn't gone quite yet.  They've been eating heavily of the seed that David puts out each day so maybe they are getting ready for the trip.

Laundry day and, also, maybe I'll bake a loaf of bread.  I made one the other day and it tasted so good that I was getting some strong hints that someone wouldn't mind if I wanted to do that again.  ;)

Take care, All.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's a beautiful day in Central PA!  The temp has gone from 32º at 7a.m. to 55º right now and is heading for a high of 67!  I'll take it!

Yesterday, I opened all the windows and doors for about 5 hours and the house is all aired out.  I think I'll do that again today.

We just got back from the Amish store and just being with Cathy made it special.  The bargains were a added bonus.

Speaking of the birds...I've been seeing Geese and hearing them on the nearby pond for at least a month now but we drove past the pond today and there wasn't a goose to be seen.  All those that I've seen have been on the wing!  But there's no way I could have heard them in the early evening if they were not gathered on the pond!  I haven't seen any other Spring birds either in flight or on the ground.  I keep looking for a robin sitting on my fence or the bushes out front because my grandmother always said, "If you see your first robin sitting, Spring is here.  If it's flying, look for more cold weather."  I try not to look up.  I always wondered if that was cheating?

I hope you are all having a nice day!  I wish you health and luck in your hours to come!  Enjoy!  And don't forget to share!

Haha, Amy,have you ever watched the geese slid onto the ice & then get up & walk off like "that's what I meant to do".  Also, when our river is low they will skid in & stand up in the shallow water & walk to the nearby sandbar. I do think they are all starting to get ready for their trips. I have not seen the red winged blackbirds here yet. They nest all around but often see them out my front window, eating from the bird feeder. We've had some robins for quite a while now, think they are building nests already.

Lloyd, when my husband was driving me to the hospital for my heart surgery & then after, I knew it was too hard for him to make those sudden stops or turns, so I would NOT take the re-hab I was supposed to but it wasn't safe for him to drive in traffic. I couldn't tell the doctors I was afraid to ride with him or they would have felt like they had to pull his license. He died about 6 months after my surgery. His arms & legs were not strong enough to be safe, for himself or other people, for nearly a year before. He kept his license until he died, but he knew his limits. Hopefully you will do the same, know when it isn't safe. By the way, I still have my motorcycle license! But haven't used it lately, either.

Been on the phone with my daughter, finally got word of when the funeral (next Sat) so she is going to order the flowers & I will pay her when we get together at the funeral. Right now weather is showing rain/snow mix for all across KS & MO next week end, so we will see what it looks like that morning. It is a 3 & half hour drive to the location, but none of us want to stay overnight either before or after, so we make choices. Nieces & nephews are driving in from all over the US.

Goodness, been on the phone & computer ever since I got up & it is past noon already.

Hi to all...

All you lovely ladies who bought or were gifted with an InstantPot...I bought one the other day, (still boxed) that is a "CrockPot Express", which is a combo instant pot and slow cooker.  Do any of you have that one?  If so, was there a decent booklet with recipes in the box?  Has anyone purchased an Instant Pot Cookbook, and if so, which one?  I am having second thoughts about this, might just return it unopened and go for the regular IP.  Some reviews of the Express cookbooks say the books are not good at all.   I need some help,if anyone can!

Merry Monday,

Shirley,  I wondered if I'd missed when the funeral is/was.  Am guessing it's in Missouri?  That's about the same driving time as from here to Amarillo.  I sure wouldn't want to drive back and forth in one day!

Have seen geese at the pond for a couple of weeks.  Robins have come and gone all winter.  Looks as if wrens and other birds may be searching for nesting materials.

My daffodils are in full bloom and surely do brighten up the back flower beds.  Tempting to try and plant pots but not smart to do so until mid-April.  Will put out hummingbird feeder the first of April.

Yesterday was an "Idon'twanna" day....and I didn't.    However, today started out with two successful business calls - one of which was to a call center.  I had all my information ready and was settled in to be on hold for a long time.  Miracle of Miracles - I was immediately connected to a nice American lady who took care of things PDQ. We even had a short friendly conversation.

Now I need to scan some info and send it to a friend.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

Good morning everyone, wow what a day we  had yesterday, broke a record at 72 at the airport so must have been warmer here. All "official" temperatures, rain and snow come from there. Can be 15 to 20 degrees difference between there and here. In winter it is colder here and in warm weather it is much warmer here. I am sure in every state there is a varieation in temperatures. We don't see many birds here, witha ll the traffic in the front and only a few trees and since the witch stopped anyone from feeding them, especially the humming birds  that we all enjoyed going to a feeder  for them and all the flowers in front. Last year they cleared beautiful tall pines down because the owners decided they were dangerous. Now we have almost an acre of new lawn in the back. No place for birds there anymore either.

JANE  I had my windows open yesterday, too, but spent a good part of the day outside.

AMY  no lakes or ponds froze here this winter.

SHIRLEY  I am sorry the PC and phone has taken up so much of your time.

Think it is still early enough to go back to bed, cannot stop yawning.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone..

Liquid sunshine here this morning and by the sounds of it ,it is to keep up until tomorrow. That will put the run on the snow but lets hope not too fast or there will be flooding.

Not sure what is happening today will just take it as it comes.

Gloria, wow you had nice weather yesterday...temps are going up here also but in a few days they are to go back down.

Shirley, animals are so much fun to watch, better than tv.  I have bird tv right outside my kitchen window.

Lloyd, one does have to eat, just in moderation......no going back for the third plate. :)

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's raining but warmer temp here too.  It was already 45 when I got up this morning!  In spite of not seeing a sitting robin, I think Spring is on the way!

I've had my first cup of coffee and when the boinger goes, we'll have breakfast and then a nice walk.  Tonight, I'm going to dinner with Cathy and Craig to help her celebrate her birthday. It's hard to believe that 62 years have passed since that miracle took place! God sent me a winner when he sent her to me!

In the meantime, I'm out of mustard and I think this might be the day to make up more of AMY's HOT MUSTARD!  I have the recipe laid out and my next act will be checking for all the ingredients!  I'm pretty sure I have everything I need!

SHIRLEY, I wish you and yours a safe trip to and from the funeral.  Support one another and share the love and the good memories!

Now I'm off to check my email before the boinger goes.  I wish you all a happy, healthy day.  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it!

Tomereader, I bought a cookbook for the Instant Pot but it wasn't of much use.  Nearly all of the recipes I use are ones that I find on the internet.  You Tube has a bunch of videos, too, for all kinds of things to make in the IP.  Just do a Google search and loads of things will pop up.

I cut up the leeks yesterday for some Leek and Potato Soup.  I'll put it all together today with the potatoes and seasonings, etc. and that is what we will have for dinner tonight.  Just right for a rainy evening, I think.  Maybe some biscuits to go with?????

Amy, we are supposed to have some of that liquid sunshine today, too.  Since I'll be here at home it won't bother me.  David mowed the lawn yesterday so it won't bother him either.  He was a little disgusted yesterday afternoon.  He was admiring how nice the lawn looked after being freshly mowed when along came the Google Fiber people and dug holes along the front in several places.  >:(  However, they filled them in and replaced the sod pretty well so hopefully it will all grow over again.  This "tech town" has so many cables under it I don't know how it keeps from sinking!  :o

Take care, All.

The mustard is done!  The kitchen is cleaned up! We've had lunch and nap and two walks.  On one of them we had to wait for a moving van to finagle around our tight corners.  I must say, he did a great job and it only took 3 guys on the ground outside the trucks to give him directions.  I that had been me in the driver's seat, I'd have wanted 23 guys on the ground outside!

After all that, I had a short nap and now I'm going to take Mickie for another walk and get the mail and then I have to get a shower and get ready to go out for dinner.

By the way, this was a rainy day in Central PA, too!

Checking in, cats fed so we will take the rest of the chicken carcass down to the river to fill some critter's tummy. There is never a scrap or piece of bone left next morning, so pleases me.  Callie didn't eat her chicken so Tom is eying it as he sits & waits for me to come out. He will eat until he throws up, not smart, that boy! Callie sat outside and waited for me to serve her where she sat. They are SO spoiled. All 3 outside staring back at the door, waiting for me to walk them down to the river. "My life is not my own"....  ;)  :crazy2:

Had a good look at my yard while ago, the jonquils are up & even one little bud. The peace rose bush has leaves uncurling all up and down the stems. I'm sure we have more winter ahead, we've hardly had any hard feeze this winter. Almost scary...pollen is the worst I can remember (or maybe I'm just older?) I know I'm not contageous but do realize people give me a hard look when I pull out a Kleenex!  ::)  :-[

Good Afternoon
from the pleasantly mild rocky
coast of Maine....

Just for chuckles, let me tell
you what happened...

Yesterday my good friend Vicky
called to ask me what was
going on with her shows on
MSNBC...  "All day they had
been messed up..."

Well I laugh and laugh at her
and asked, "Vicki, did you
turn your clocks ahead"??  ...
Well it turns out that she
hadn't.... and so her shows
were off an hour and she kept
missing things.

Today is the day that Kelly is
to pick me up in the morning
and for me to get my blood tested
for INR  ( because I take coumadin)

Well,  I woke up this morning to a
phone call.... Kelly was down stairs
waiting and worrying for me.

I had overslept and only woke
up with the phone call...
Kelly got very worried
because I am always on time, if
not a few minutes early .. And
she couldn't reach me...

Well,  I called Vicky this after noon
and told her what happened .  That both of
us got very screwed up because of the
time change.....  And I laughed at her,
but she got the last laugh today ....

My oh my...   That will teach me to
kid someone when something silly happens...

So that is how my days have gone...
Pretty pathetic.

Kelly and I are getting keys ready
for her to have a set of keys available
so she can get in and check on me.

Looks like the lazy, crazy hazy days
of Summer are on the way!!

Hooray!
Sandy
 :knuppel2:

Oh I also ordered me an
alarm clock,  so this doesn't
happen again!!

(I have never had to use alarm clocks..
even when I worked and had to be
to work by 7 AM...  My body just
wakes up ..  (or use to!!!  )

Post by: Shirley on March 10, 2020, 08:31:58 PM
Sandy, that is just too funny! I was concerned enough this year that I asked my son to call Sunday morning to make sure my body clock woke me at the right time. Was so worried about it I woke up like 2:00 or 3:00 afraid to go back to sleep. Like you, I never used an alarm and finally gave up on the radio alarms. They were all to the stage I couldn't get them to set. My husband used them every day, even years after he retired. At least "they" are talking about it being crazy to change times, if people want to get up earlier all then need to is set their own clocks!  I had keys made for all 3 of my kids, for the same reason. I had been leaving one in the garage so they could get into the house, but figured it better if they each had one on their own key rings.

Amy, not sure what it is with these cats, but they are getting awful about wanting their food presented to them any where they sit. They just don't mind like a dog!  :tickedoff:  ::)

I may not make it back again tonight, phone calls from cousins that can't make it to the funeral, most don't do highway driving anymore. Since we've all (my siblings & I) made it to most of their parents or siblings funerals, they do feel bad, but my sister and I understand. I need to call my husband's brother since his birthday is the day before the funeral & my husband's the day after, and I have been calling him the day between ever since Cas died. I have to leave the house by 6:00 am to get to the funeral on time and it will be about dark when I get back, so I doubt I will remember to make a phone call that day. Thinking out loud again.

Good morning everyone, 45 already at 5:10am. Could get used to this in mid March. I keep waiting for an old time winter. I remember one St. Patrick's day waking to 18 inches of fresh snow. A SIL was having a birthday party for one of her daughters and it got postponed till roads were opened again. No plows back then like today. They only had a couple in this town and 2 men in the back of the truck shoveling sand out onto the roads.

AMY  like the I feel pretty, silly dog. We have liquid sunshine in forecast for Friday but we have no snow to melt. When we had the 72 on Monday it brought some here outside andsaw a few I had not seen all winter. I do try to get out a little while every day unless raining or too cold for me.

JANE  every once in awhile I pu t a picture of my 3 on the monitor for wallpaper and hard to believe they were so cute at that age.
They are still good looking and good people.

PHYLLIS  no lawn mowing here yet. Expect to see the landscapers here soon, though.

JANE  after breakfast yesterday I had a nap and when my CNA left at 2 I had another one, woke in time to have my Skype with my 67 year old baby. My oldest son and DIL have stayed home in self imposed isolation after their cruise and plane trips. With all this Corand virus they though they would be careful for  that 14 days. He has been calling me and that helps me. My younger son is here every Saturday morning and I do look forard to that every week. My SIL is doing great after his surgery. He has been doing a lot of walking inside and outside. He is not one to sit still for long anyway.

SHIRLEY  I do not trust this warm temperatures we have had this week, keep waiting to wake up in the deep freeze.

LLOYD  nice I am not the early poster this morning. You beat me about 3 hours. Time for my second cup of coffee.

Have a good day.

Gloria I would rather have good sleep than be first one to post. Nancy went to the doctor yesterday and he told her to slow down on the intake of coffee, just limit her self to two cups per day. and not the over size one's. just the eight OZ size one. so just sip it with short sips and enjoy it if you can. I love the smell of coffee, especially the spew out of a first smell out of a fresh opened can, you know when you pierce the new can. but one sip upsets my stomach big time. some people say the caffeine, but no I used to have a can of mountain dew in my hand or in reach all day, lots more caffeine in it than coffee ever thought about and never upset my stomach. Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I see I neglected to say "good night" last night.  I was really tired and ready to sleep and I just plain forgot there were nice people out there.

I woke up to 32º this morning and it's going up to the low 50s with sunshine by noon.  I can take that!

I have a drs. appt. this morning and Frankie is due for some blood work at the same place and then we both have some errands to do in the same area so we'll do that and maybe have lunch before we come home.

Cathy's birthday party was fun last night.  They also invited Frankie and it was a very pleasant evening.  She informed me that she's not 62.  She's 63 and I really knew that.  But I told her I was giving her a bit of an edge.  She could be a year younger around me if she wanted to.  She agreed that was fine.

LLOYD, I don't know what Nancy's problem is but I do know that caffeine is one of the things that helps to raise our blood pressure.  After all these years of putting caffeine in my system, I've switched to caffeine free coffee and it showed immediate results.  And I never missed it!

I guess I better get moving.  Mickie says there's something out there and she's ready to go see what it is...even before breakfast.  I better get my clothes on because I'm sure she'll be ready right after breakfast and that means a walk.

I hope you all have a healthy, happy day.  Make it your own in every way.  And be sure to share it with us.

We had a good drive to the city, saw one deer grazing  but that was it. Went to Costco and oh my did the bathroom tissue walk out of there...folks had their buggy full!! This virus is sure causing a scare. I did look for hand sanitizer but there was none to be found at WalMart or Shoppers Drug Mart. Good ol soap and water will also do the trick.

Gloria although it was a nice sunny day it was cold. We did have a bit of snow on our way home though. I did see my first robin of the year and hope to see a lot more here!!

Lloyd, I am like you, I love the smell of coffee but can't drink it so stick to tea. Love the smell of oranges and juice but can't eat or  drink that either. Don't know what I will do if I can't eat chocolate :))

Shirley, dogs mind?? Someone forgot to tell this pup that flies through the air and lands on my lap when he comes in from outside.

Sandy, how are your flowers doing? Have you ever woke up at 7pm thinking it is 7am the next morning?  After a tiring day   we laid down for a bit after supper but woke at 7pm thinking it was the next day. A phone call to a neighbour straightened us out :))

AMY, was your robin on the wing or sitting?  If it was sitting, Spring is on the way.  If it was in flight, Spring is still a long way off.

Had my visit with the Dr. this morning and she approved the better blood pressure readings but still decided to increae the medication.  I'm going to continue the natural stuff and the food that is supposed to help lower the pressure and see what happens next.  I have to go back in 2 weeks for a check up!

I did a few more errands while I was out and then Mickie and I had a walk and lunch and a nap this afternoon.  We're just a couple of sluggards.  All I want is more nice weather.  It was kind of cold today but is supposed to be in the low 60s tomorrow.

I hope everyone who has not appeared in the SS is so busy having a lovely day that they just plain didn't have time to come by.

I read back through the posts I can see on this screen, & see it was 7:30 last night when I checked in. Sure thought I came in to whine about how hard I worked today. I picked up 2 huge bags of leaves plus filled the empty dumpster totally full of leaves, AGAIN. I don't have any trees that drop these leaves, they blow in from all directions & stick on the front sidewalk to the driveway. this is either 3rd or 4th time I've picked up about the same amount this season and only this one patch from front door to driveway. Ain't fair! Fitbit shot off fireworks because I got in all my steps for a change, I'm sure did me good but had less than 5 hours sleep last night and no nap so am heading to bed soon.

I am so angry, the trip I made to the store today came up with the vehicle speed in big letters on dash, coverend up with the warning to get oil changed SOON! I see it better than watching the speedometer, so a real handicap. I called the dealer when it showed 6% oil left, a week or so ago, I had oil changed the last of Jan & it doesn't get many miles per year (23,400 for almost 7 years)... and last time they changed it they messed with the reset button & it kept showing the "check engine light" so had to take it back that time & service kid couldn't get it turned off & said he thought I'd probably need a whole new unit... so had my son turn it off (he worked as a mechanic when going through college, has all the tools & know how)... I'm starting to wonder if the dealer is not the best place to get service... I am really a grouch tonight.

I've had this going for an hour or so, calls from the kids, fed cats & let them back outside. It is time for this old girl to get some zzzzzzzzzzss.  Sweett dreams to all and God Bless.

A quick late night HELLO.

SORRY I have not been in to post.....no excuse!  Shame on me!

Michele had her 3rd round of chemo today.  He blood work was much better this time, but she is still at a very high risk for getting anything, and with the Corona Virus being ramped she really is having to be careful where she goes.

We are all very concerned about this virus and are making sure we are washing our hands good and trying to stay away from large crowds.  The COSTCO TP issue is alive and well here also AMY.  One son was there before the store opened.....this is his norm, and he said he was nearly run over by the folks there to get the TP!  Why they are not limiting one package 3 or 4 huge packages per shopper is beyond me.  There is no need to hoard it that much!

I wish you all a pleasant night of rest.

Jenny

Good morning everyone, after the warm mornings we have had it is 33 now at 4:30. Going to be a cloudy day and rain tomorrow. My time out in the sunshine will be gone till it gets warm again.

LLOYD  the only time I could not even take the smell of coffee is when I was carrying my sons. After they were born I could drink coffee again. Never more than 2 cups in the morning. not too strong either.

JANE  yesterday was laundry day so nothing exciting. After breakfast I had a nap and again when my CNA left. Seems like I am getting too many naps lately. Something to talk to doctor about when I see her April 1st.

AMY  I used to love oranges but now the acid in them gets to me, never cared much for juice. I have fallen asleep in the afternoon and woke in the dark, thought it was early morning but was 8 at night. Funny feeling.

SHIRLEY  I think your eighbors should help you clean those leaves that come from their trees. Bet if you asked them to they would get mad.

JENNY  we got a notice here from the CDC. Only paces we can go on the main floor is the laundry and the mail room. All games and plans have been canceled in all the building like this, since elderly are more susceptible. This is for 2 weeks. There was a dinner of corned beef and cabbage set for the 17th and had to be cancelled. The meat could be put in the freezer in the community kitchen and they are hoping the vegetables stay fresh.

MY CNA loves shopping, loves coupons and sales. She is well stocked at her house. She checked all my supplies yesterday. Only things I am short of is paper napkins, tissues and paper towels.

Have a good day.

Good morning. I've been up since 4:00 am so think I will take a nap before dressing. Tom & Callie wouldn't eat their breakfast, wanted outside, Tiger is still sleeping downstairs. They are worse than raising teen age boys, think back... always having to keep track of them and could never get them filled up.  ::)

You are right, Gloria, neighbors would never believe their leaves blew away, they paid a yard service to pick up once a year! Too bad the trees didn't know about a deadline & keep dropping those leaves all through the winter. I didn't know some trees didn't lose leaves all at once, but they don't. I discovered I can eat oranges only when they are picked fairly ripe. If too green my tongue will get blisters on it with first bite.. taste like metal. Think that is why I can't drink juice, they aren't ripe enough.

Weather guessers calling for snow Sat morning, still not looking like a hard freeze so maybe all the little buds & sprouts can survive. We have had some of our deepest snows this time of year so a wait & see. Could be an interesting drive to KC! Have Lysol & Clorox wipes already in the car & even have some Pampers wipes (they aren't so hard on hands & steering wheel) to use part time. For sure not a good time to travel, but we will do what we can. My youngest son will come ride & help drive with me, other son & wife will go in their car. None of us have the big old cars that could hold 6 people & all their coats in comfort... have campers & RVs but don't want them for this kind of trip. Everyone has the little sporty SUVs for town driving. Such is the way of life nowdays. Not bad, just different than when we grew up.

Going back for those extra zzzzzzzzzzzzs. Less than 5 hours sleep, same as yesterday, and I did NOT get a nap yesterday.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 39º right now and heading for a high of 55 and cloudy.  This would be a good day for me to go do errands but I only have one waiting and I can't do it until Monday or Tuesday.  Oh well! That's life!

SHIRLEY, Most of the leaves in my driveway and plastered to my fence, come from up the street.  I only have one tree left and it pretty much sheds inside my fence.  I always tell friends that living on a dead end is good except for the leaves.  They tend to "dead end" here too!

That's one of the jobs waiting for my attention.  I have to start cleaning up the winter's worth of leaves!  Not one of my favorite jobs.  When I moved here, I had 2 grandchildren who loved to "help Grammy".  Now one of them is married and living in Texas and the other one is in a  "committed" relationship and living in Philadephia.  So the job is mine!

I hope you all have a lovely, healthy day!  And I hope we hear from JOY!

A cloudy morning here but not cold.  David will go to the grocery store today.  Hopefully not too many shelves will be bare.  We need some paper goods...just the normal supply...and some canned vegetables for the pantry.  Schwan's will be here this afternoon to restock the freezer for the month.

Two more cases of C. virus in the county, it's worrisome but people are still being sensible about it.  Being cautious, some events have been canceled, a couple of private schools have shut down, people are stocking up but I don't think anyone is hoarding as yet.

We are the "dead end" of a cul-de-sac, too, so also get everyone else's leaves.  David keeps the front yard clear but around the ornamental shrubs on the sides of the house the leaves are considered "mulch".   ::)

Take care, All.

Haha, Phyllis, I always called those leave that hang out with the rose bush & lilies "mulch" as well. After removing yesterday there is a cluster of the miniature jonquils blooming this morning.

Love your ear rings, Amy, and still giggling at the cat! How true it is~~~   I don't understand why people are grabbing all the paper products, can see why the wipes, sanitizers & masks. My sons tell me the "back woods" type dry food packages are completely sold out. They were going to stock up for the trip to CO, some times we go up the trails & have a picnic. If this keeps up the US may have to learn how to produce our own necessaries, you think?

Lloyd, I'm about to have my 2nd breakfast, or maybe early lunch. I hard boiled 8 eggs (all that pan will hold) & had 2 about 5:00 am, so ready for more fuel for this old body. I love to eat.

Jane, sure wish I could find a handy man that didn't think every little job was worth $100 an hour. I can't get anyone interested at $20 an hour. Young yard guy charges $40 & takes him & his buddy about 15-20 min to do all they do, racing the riding mower around & weed whipping my little trees. Still the best I can find even willing to work. Back in the day we got 25¢ an hour to watch 3 or 4 kids and do a sink full of dishes at the same time. Ah, well, we need the exercise, right?

Joy, glad you are doing well. Alarming how fast this virus is traveling. I am concerned about going through the drive thru since no guarantee the food handlers are not carrying germs. Do have to go get the groceries I didn't get yesterday & fill up the car with gas. I know where to make gas stops for the RV but only had this car on the highway once or twice in 7 years, not sure how many miles it really will go on a tank full. It tells me if I remember to look. I never learn how to use all the gadgets until time to get rid of a car!

Better move on. Nearly noon & jobs to do before I get a nap. I NEED a nap!

Gloria, I have the sliding door open for a while & the knees are telling me we have a change of weather, is that true? Weather guessers saying rain & cold front moving down. Am a little worried since our biggest snows are this season... hurry up rain & tornado season, huh?

My flowers are doing great!!
The sun is shinning in my

which really helps.   And my

care of them    :knuppel2:

She is pleased with what I am doing.

I don't normally ever sleep
during the day these days,
but I can remember years
ago having that experience
and it was very discombobulating.

Over sleeping was also discombobulating
...  My new alarm clock arrived

All is well !

Shirley, I am another one who can't figure why people are stocking up on toilet paper???  Masks, hand sanitizer, soap, food, yes.  TP, not so much.  I mean, it's not an intestinal virus where you'd need rolls and rolls of TP ::)
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for March 1, 2020
Post by: JaneS on March 12, 2020, 10:02:53 PM
I made a quick trip to WM today and one of the things on my list was TP because I'm getting low.  When I turned into the paper goods aisle, I went into shock!  It was almost totally empty and the TP area was totally empty.  Frankie works at one of the big grocery stores and she was telling us Monday night about how the TP was moving out of her store and how people were stocking up on other items too.  We decided that they are thinking a sort of quarantine might be coming.  I think we just need to be conscious of what we do and where we go.  Some people just don't think!

I bought an extra pack of cheap, thin napkins just in case.

The only place I have to go tomorrow is the drug store and the UPS store. I hope I can get moving in the morning and be done with that because I really want to do some yard cleanup in the afternoon if it doesn't rain.  It's supposed to rain overnight but finish by mid morning.

JOY, good news from you.  Take it easy and build your strength. You have plenty of time.

I'm going to try to make it to bed early tonight so I'll wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one!

Tome, not sure what is going on but I keep avoiding going to the store for the whole list I made up yesterday but a must do tomorrow to gas up the car. I am struggling to keep from taking the whole house like when going in the RV, this little Encore doesn't even have room in the front to put my purse when someone is riding with me. I usually keep a roll of paper towels, box of Kleenex, munchies & a camera in reaching distance, along with those sun screens that just rub on the windows. Ah, well... just hope the weather cooperates. I usually make several stops along the way, cats won't use a litter box when moving. But also gives me a chance to stretch my legs, whether I get out or just walk around in the RV. I'm whining again.  :-[

Gloria, good to see Gary is doing okay. They are probably as safe from the virus as anywhere in the world.

Sandy, what kind of alarm clock did you get?  I really should have one to depend on.

Amy, all 3 cats turned up their noses at supper tonight... fresh raw hamburger. Usually it is their fav evening meal. One more meal, the cans of Friskie's... and they do have their favorite flavors of it so can't buy the mixed boxes. Woe is me!  ;)

Jane, I really do need to make a Walmart run but don't think I will do it tomorrow. I was wanting a shelf in the bathroom I use, a "charging station" for Fitbit, phone & Kindle' I found a set of 3 just perfect on Amazon, but want to take time since it will drive me nuts if the shelves are not level. They got here this morning & are going to be just what was needed, as long as I can put them up right. I can do it, yes, I can.....

Sweet dreams to all, peace and hugs.  Shirley

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And especially you, BUBBLE.  Thanks for posting my photos.  For everyone, if you're interested in where I am, check out the pictures.  It's my home town!  I posted some facts and stories with the pics.

I got up to 48º and rain this morning.  It's not raining right now but it must have done a bit of it during the night and we're supposed to have more up until about 1 p.m.  I have a couple of errands to do this morning....return something I bought yesterday, mail a package to Texas, drop off my tax info for my son, deliver a package to Frankie, stop at the drug store, pick up a couple things I forgot yesterday.  Boy!  I'm going to be busier than I thought!

SHIRLEY, I know that feeling of not having room for my pocketbook when I have a passenger.  I drive a VW Golf and the gear shift is between the seats.  It's OK when I'm alone but it's waaaaay back there when I have company!

It's almost time for the boinger and the day begins.  So I'll wish you all a happy, healthy day.  Grab it!  It's yours!  And don't forget to share it.  I might not comment to everyone but I always enjoy finding out what everyfriend is up to!

I like the looks of your town, Jane.  I really miss the feel of a small town.  It used to be that way here but no longer....gotten too big. Too many people everywhere, too much traffic, prices of homes, taxes, services, food, everything going higher and higher.  Some call it progress.....I don't.

Rainy day here, too.  David got the groceries yesterday and said there seemed to be a pretty good supply on most everything.  A few bare spots in paper goods and cleaning supplies.  All of the colleges have canceled sports events and my town has canceled all meetings, events, etc. that calls for an attendance of over a 100.  Some of the schools are canceling classes and having students study from home.  Lots of the companies are telling employees to work from home, too.  Restaurants and small businesses are already hurting and I suspect some of them won't survive.  It is sad.

The azaleas are coming into full bloom now and looking pretty in my yard.  The cherry trees are blossoming.  Many spring flowers have already come and gone.  Mother Nature is doing her usual thing in spite of what is going on in the human world.

Take care, All.

Good morning everyone 43 but feels like  35 and raining again. When I lef t here yesterday I laid on the couch watching the Me channel saw the beginning of Perry Mason and the end of Matlock. When my CNA left at 2 I laid on the couch again and woke after  4. Went to bed at 9 last night and got up at 6:30. I still feel sleepy. I don't think I ever slept a day away like yesterday unless I was sick and that has been seldom.

This state had some high school basket ball games last  night but no fans allowed in. Bet those kids missed the cheering. So sad to see so much of what we take for granted are closed till this coronavirus is controlled or wiped out or what  ever.

AMY  would you mind if I steal your "pet" cartoon and send to my  DIL-second daughter-she likes cats and has a black one with a bit of white under her chin.

JANE  now you would really appredciate your grands cleaning up those leaves.

PHYLLIS  at times I feel like I should get back to Schwanns if or their mac and cheese. When my CNA was out and I told her I ordered groceries online I thought she would flip her wig. The items are never the sale price in their flyer. Every thing has been good so I don't mind.  I think if she could have a job just shopping at markets for people she wouold be very happy.

LLOYD  raining here, too.

JOY  have not closed this building and the CNA's are still coming. So many of us here need their help. Some need help for a shower and dressing. So far thank God I can still do that. Happy that you are doing good now.

AMY  the way every thing is getting smaller soon that will be the size of TP if you can find any.

SHIRLEY  how I wish I had even half of your appetite. Then I am not very active anymore so guess I don't need much fuel? My back stared acting up yest erday and CNA gave me a good back massage with the Hempvana. Was raining when I woke this morning.

JANE  when I sent my CNA to the market  early in t he week I forgot to add Kleenex to the list and paper towels. I hate running out of anything and I have 1 box of Kleenex and 1 roll of paper towels left. That is when I usually get more. For a small town looks like a lot of traffic lights. This town covers a lot of territory, mostly still woods. We have 3 traffic light an a state highway that goes through part of the town. This town has about 7 different villages, the one is live in has the town hall and then on one side has the shopping center- or did where so many little markets were there. Every one has churches and used to have schools. Now schools are more centralized.

BUBBLE  thank you for the link to Photos and Jane's pictures.

AMY  another good Snoopy this morning.

PHYLLIS  no small owns aren't the same either.  Where this building sits used to be a field and pine trees. People from cities moved here for a quiet lifestyle but then started demamding things they left  in the city. Most of the  town did not have street lights that  was finally taken care of and then they started running for  town offices. My DIL's family has lived in this town for 7 generations, some are now in polatics and I will vote for them instead of the ones I never heard of before. My children are the 5th generation from my FIL's family. Of course I have only lived he for little more than 68 years.

Have a good day.

Love the photos, Jane, you did a super job. Thank you, Bubble, for posting & the link.

Amy, don't you love Charlie Brown's general attitude of love? His creator must have been a very sweet person. Isn't it a shame we don't have a world full of Charles Schultz folks? Love to read his quotes.

Lloyd, I'm still snarling over the awful taxes I had to pay this year, because I cashed some iBonds we had worked so hard to save, and I was concerned they would be difficult for our kids to cash after I die... they had no beneficiaries listed. They took such a large portion of the interest and it put me in a different tax bracket so extra there... I am snorting & fuming about having to share it with anyone that certainly didn't do what we did, to earn & save! So, I'm hoping you had ways to write off some of your earnings, not a single thing here so took the short form. I took the cash & didn't re-invest so the gov can't get their hands on it again! No interest but seems like they take away so why save?  I am NOT playing nice these days!

Gloria, makes me happy to read between the lines at how much different your life is now with your old CNA back. Surprising how other people affect our lives. One of the worst things I can think of that would change my life most, would be if this site shut down and we couldn't visit. I would miss all of you so much every day, think about each other's families and wonder how they are. I mourn for the loss of your son's orchard, worry about Regina & Gary... We know the families, each other's good & bad days.

Phyllis, your spring is way ahead of us! I was thrilled to see my cluster of tiny blooming jonquils yesterday and see a couple neighbors have the normal size jonquils in full bloom. The buds are getting larger on the Bradford & Cleveland pear trees, but a long way from blooming. I was shocked this morning when I went in the store to get a package of Charmin & the whole long aisle was empty of all kinds. I had a coupon for a dollar off so was just going to pick up the one (with 3 bathrooms in the house & RV, always a need for the extra roll.) I don't understand the need to stock up on paper products, doesn't come from China, do it?  ::)

Time to get busy, sleepy but want to get to bed early tonight since I need to be on the road by 6:00-6:30 in the morning so means when I wake up about 4:00 I will stay up to feed & organize cats & me. I feed my son when he gets here, he won't eat in the car.. as a baby he got car sick, he doesn't say he still does, but guessing that is the reason.

Good Morning- although it may be "Afternoon" before I finish.

It's been a busy week and I'm glad I can stay home because it's gloomy and wet today - and supposed to rain rain rain rain in the next few days.

Had planned to go to big grocery store after Bridge yesterday afternoon. I drove clear through the parking lot and didn't see even one parking place - might as well have walked from my house!

I'd turned my cell phone off while I was at Bridge so didn't see son's text about going to the grocery store after work-did I need anything? - until I walked in the door.  I replied asking if I could go with him.
He replied, "I'm there now.  Send me your list".  So I did!

When he brought them, he had pictures of the empty shelves in the soup/canned meat aisle as well as in the paper goods and cleaning supply aisles.

Don't think this area had gotten so anxious until the pro basketball game was abruptly cancelled just at tip-off because (at that time) one member of the visiting team had tested positive for the coronavirus.  That led to cancellation of the state basketball tournament, several schools closing a day early (today) for Spring Break and most of the state colleges adding a week to their Spring Breaks and having classes on-line for a while after that.

Of course, The Media went nuts over all this!!!!  One channel even preempted their entire evening schedule to broadcast from the arena where the basketball game was to have been played. Really????  :idiot2:  Annoys me no end that they always manage to find the saddest, most upset people to interview.  Are "they" totally clueless how much this is contributing to the Public Panic?

End of  :tickedoff:

Janie,  loved the pictures of your pretty little town.  My small hometown decided to "modernize" the downtown about 30 years ago and covered up all the brick building fronts.  Ugly!!!!!!   However, within the last few years, a local couple has begun buying some of the buildings and restoring them.  Looks as if that may be inspiring others to do the same.

The Bradford and Cleveland Pear Trees are in full bloom and I can see some white flowering bushes and a redbud or two behind the fence.  So pretty with my daffodils in the flower beds.

Washer is "yoo-hooing".  Away I go.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Shirley, it's nice to see you drive an Encore!  I love mine, don't put too many miles on it.  It's a 2015 and I have about 8,700 miles on it.  I, too, hate that there's no place for my purse when I have a passenger!  Take care, stay out of crowds (if there are any, anywhere, LOL)

Haha, Tome, I have been sorting & packing already for 2 days for this trip, since I need to take winter clothes "in case", calling for snow/rain mix. Trying to find a place for those Lysol/Clorox wipes, Kleenex, my purse, bottles of water to sip, munchies, necessary stuff...that I/we can reach easy. The son riding with me has a Mustang, the sporty one, it doesn't have any more room, so I'd rather take mine. The kids are all being extra kind to me because this death has been so shocking, old Mom isn't taking it well at all. Back to cars, I traded off Cas' Enclave that just rolled over 8,000 miles plus my Escape that had 9,000 on it, and Buick paid me plus pulled this little red dude off the showroom floor...2013, few months after Cas died and time to renew tags, etc. Cas had bought me a Subaru Outback turbo for my birthday & I traded it for the Escape when Subaru had less than 7,000 miles on it. I had taken it back to the dealer several times for a problem but they insisted it was "normal"... same with the Escape, but I do know enough about cars to know what is dangerous. I hate to trade this Encore off but it will run out of it's 7 year warranty soon and I don't want to start having to pay for repairs, and eventually it will start needing. So far I have had no trouble with this little car at all.

HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH! It's almost over and no major calamities have occurred!  I really wasn't expecting any but you just never know.

This town is a college community and they've cancelled in-school classes for the rest of the semester.  They've set up on line school and that's how the kids will finish this year out.  I haven't heard anything about graduation plans.  If I'd done my four years of college, I'd really feel cheated if the graduation experience was denied.

Thanks for all the nice comments about my little town.  It's really been a good place to grow up and to raise my kids!  I love showing it off!

I'm off to bed now and I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good tomorrow.  And, SHIRLEY, may all your shared memories be good ones!  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

Very windy here ,I thought the wind would die down last night but it kept it up all night. Have some errands to do this morning then this afternoon we are going to a funeral.

School is now closing for two more weeks after the March break, a lot of events have been cancelled also. Seems most grocery stores are without a lot of products due to panic buying.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be short because the boinger just went off.  Mickie isn't as persistent as Annie used to be.  I think it's because she doesn't hear very well but that doesn't mean she isn't hungry.

Over in photos, I mentioned that we have all the fast food, grocery stores and shopping centers that most towns do.  However, they've clustered along the highway that leads into the town so the town itself has retained it's small town appeal.

I'm off to whatever the day brings!  Do your own thing today.  What happens is up to you!

AMY your picture this morning is very pretty; but your lady leading the horse has on the wrong clothe to go ridding a horse. her dress dose not look it is for ridding. if it was cut between the legs and was loose around the legs would be more appropriate. genes would be a good choice.have a good day any way.

Good Saturday afternoon.

Hope Shirley was able to get her car organized and has arrived safely at her destination.

Still wet and gloomy in central Oklahoma.  A clap of thunder awoke me about 6:00 a.m. but I just put a small pillow over my ear and went back to sleep. There were leaves from the drain pipe in the driveway so I guess we had some hard rain but I didn't hear it.
The morning paper was nicely wrapped and right up against the garage door  .

I went to Walgreen's and Braum's dairy store/market yesterday. There were a few customers in each place but no lines or grabbing things off shelves.   Plenty of bread and other "staples" in the market.  I mainly needed personal supplies at Walgreens but did get a few things I forgot to put on list for son.  Didn't need toilet paper (there were 5 packages on the shelf) but was able to get Kleenex, which grocery store did not have when son was there.
Other son reported he found paper products (including toilet paper) at one of the dollar stores near their house.

Plenty to do here so, between  the weather and social distancing, I'll be enjoying some "leisurely" time at home.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an "Elbow Bump" (no hugs!  :smitten: ) for an Enjoyable Day.

A good Saturday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND❣️

I had issues posting in another folder, so I am trying to be as careful as I can be to not loose another one.

I do hope you arrived safely at the family gathering today SHIRLEY. MY thoughts and prayers are with you as your family lay your beloved brother to rest.

CALLIE, happy to read that your son did some shopping for you while he was out.  Our youngest son has asked us kindly to stay in and he will do any needed errands for us as well.  So far we have just been very careful when we go out and take all of the precautions necessary to try to be safe.

AMY, I have sure enjoyed ALL of the fun pictures you have shared.....and I really look forward to seeing them.  Thank you.

JANE, I loved the pictures of your town......how nice to see your Main Street.  I have lived in communities like this many years ago, but sadly even those have attempted to update themselves and ruined that comfortable homey feeling.  I am happy for you that yours has stayed the same.

I hope you ALL are doing well.  Stay safe and healthy.

Jenny

It has been a very long day, had less than 4 hours sleep and no nap, plus the draining of emotions that go with a funeral full of people that "can't believe he is gone". It is so heart warming to watch how his children took care of their mother & each other and brought their spouses and children to talk to "crazy old Aunt Shirley".... Had lots of hugs and even though they had a basket full of purell wipes, nobody seemed too concerned with family. All's well, waiting to hear the other "kids" got home safely. Thank you all for the thoughts today.

Lloyd, I only have the one car that is nearly 7 years old now... that Subaru & the Escape were top of the line lemons from the day we bought them. I usually keep my vehicles 14-16 years and Cas had to fight me to make me get a new one. When I traded  in the Enclave & the Escape they paid me a chunk of money & signed that brand new Encore with 7 year warranty, I thought that was a pretty good deal! I didn't want the big Enclave and didn't trust that Escape so I have been singing ever since!

Callie, my little red car was so nice and clean when I left this morning & is so dirty tonight it looks like we ran races in mud! Your rain pushed up & covered the whole day but we didn't see any snow or ice. Wind had a bite to it, especially on that hill where the cemetery was. Full military honors, including bag pipe. Day is done, daughter just got home & we talked a long time about all that family we got to visit with, and if he could be seen, that brother would have been the life of the party, no question.

Cats are begging for their final meal of the day and Tom wants out. He has been in & out twice since I got home, they stayed in the house all day, except Callie stayed in HER garage with door opened enough she could crawl in or out. She was here when I got home. All is well.

Sweet dreams and God Bless. Stay healthy! Love to all. Shirley

Stopped by to say "Good Night Everyfriend"  It's been a long day.  My fridge is a large side/by/side with a full length freezer on one side and today I went rooting for something and ended up with a lot of stuff on the kitchen counters.  I decided it was time for an inventory.  So everything came out; it got cleaned inside; and as it went back it got listed as to shelf.  Now the inventory is typed and magnetized to the side of the fridge for easy finding.  Next is the chest freezer in the back room!

Frankie left some cash here in an envelope buried in a drawer and today she needed some and since she doggie sitting for one of her mother's long time friends, she couldn't come for it so I took it to her.  When I gave her the envelope, I said, "I bet I'm the only ATM in the area that won't ask you for ID and also the only one that delivers".  She laughed!

That's the only place I went but I'm going to make a quick trip to the grocery store tomorrow because I need milk and napkins.  I can do without the napkins but I really need milk.

SHIRLEY, good to see you are safely home.  Get some rest and try to relax.  I'm glad you had a good gathering with your family.

Good Night!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!
